The bathroom door is a barn door and just slides over the doorway. There's no privacy. You can hear everything the other person is doing in the bathroom. There might as well just be a curtain covering the door. We will not be staying here again unless they change the doors. I called down to the front desk and they said almost all rooms have these doors and couldn't change rooms because they were full. (But I did look at expedia and it showed open rooms for the time we were there.) If you do decide to stay here: The room and bathroom were really clean, parking was $40 for in/out a day, breakfast from the Indian restaurant was $10 each. We didn't have breakfast so I'm not sure if it was good or not.
This hotel charges 40.00 for parking. They had no hot water when we were there. We couldn't use the pool because water was green and had cleaning stuff floating on the water. The breakfast was alright but if your not a member you have to pay for the breakfast, plus the person working the breakfast didn't understand English. The rooms are small and the elevator is very small. We are sorry we stayed there.
This hotel is within walking distance of the Alamo and the River Walk. Friendly staff, and nice amenities.
Was happy with location and the price. Parking like everything downtown can be pricey, but it was literally connected to the Hotel, with easy access and gated. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was typical of a continental buffet, but was good. Would definitely stay again.
My husband and I decided that we would take a little road trip and spend a couple of days in San Antonio. We have never stayed in the Riverwalk area, so we decided it was time. The hotel was beautiful and it was within walking distance of everywhere we went. We would definitely stay here again!
“Premier “ hardly 🫤. “Historic” definitely fits that description due to outdated carpets, woodwork around windows and window shades/coverings. Didn't try the breakfast because it was for an extra charge on an already overpriced room for the experience.
Small room is fine with me, staying by myself. Some other comments refer to it as basic, I agree this is not extravagant. Just about everything I expect though - mini fridge, mini micro, comfy bed. Clean. The bathroom was ok, no problem with water pressure or temp. The Tub/shower had 1 grab bar which was nice, would have been better with one more (I'm getting old and more worried about falling). The only complaint is there is no place (shelf) to hold a bar of soap and shampoo. Complimentary bathroom items included 2 conditioners; the front desk switched 1 with multiple shampoo for free since I was staying multiple days. $2 extra for small travel version of shaving foam, small price to pay for my oversight by not packing it. Tv/cable/ remote - frustrating to use. I think the remote is a generic brand that is limited to basically channel and volume up/down, mute and prev. Channel 12.1 was the channel line up listing but you couldn't scroll to any of the channels. You had to type the channel to get to it. Interesting the tv display in the breakfast area did not appear to be the same as in the room (it appeared to be much more user friendly). Breakfast - the first one had a pretty good variety for a continental breakfast, hot and fresh. $10 extra, pay at front desk. Not included in cost of room. The second breakfast I had was disappointing compared to the first one. Continental breakfast consisted of Scrambled egg "pancakes", the variety of hash browns was greasy, and no selection of meat (ham, sausage, or bacon). Parking - not very clear. no valet, park in adjacent lot marked as Alamo parking. Ignore QR code instructions, just go into the hotel lobby, pay for amount needed for stay, put placard on car dash and good to go. Would have been nice to know these details ahead of time (web?). $36+taxes per day, not included in cost of room. My previous experience with BW hotels it that there is usually a small pad of paper and pen/pencil to make notes. Cost cut backs? Front desk - very friendly and cooperative. Great job!
Location was good...hotel needs updated..shouldn't charge guests for breakfast or parking!! Rooms could be cleaner, need new look, was a big pillar st foot of bed, quite inconvenient, only 1 outlet worked
In my experience, The showers left much to be desired, with noticeable water stains and an overall lack of cleanliness. Moreover, the water pressure in the showers was disappointingly low, making it difficult to enjoy a satisfying hot shower. In terms of room layout, it was apparent that the space was quite cramped, especially with a king-size bed placed so close to the double door opening closet. Finally, the 10$ continental breakfast was a joke, I paid a good amount for the room itself and on arrival finding that the continental breakfast had to be paid for was laugh-worthy, nothing special from any other hotel's regular breakfast. I'll stay somewhere else next time. The people that work the front desk are pretty nice though with the few interactions I had, the gym is also stacked pretty well with equipment.
I don't post many reviews and all my reviews have been positive so far, but this stay was not smooth and had several issues. I stayed 5 nights for a conference. 1. When checking in late on day 1, the staff was rude. He informed me that included breakfast was being withdrawn unilaterally by the hotel and despite having 'breakfast included' on the booking receipt I was unlikely to be entitled to it. He gave me a voucher for one breakfast. He told me this was a decision by the hotel to charge extra 9.99 for breakfast and it doesn't matter what was said on the receipt and he refused to discuss further. This turned out to be untrue when I enquired the next day. It just seemed like he went out his way to be disruptive for no reason. He also informed me that I was booked in for 4 nights when I was clearly booked for 5 (also rectified the next day) 2. I asked for the room to be cleaned twice over 5 days and filled in the cleaning card. While it was cleaned the first time, it was not cleaned at all the next time. As I was due to check out the next day, I did not go to the reception but again this was not up to standard. Overall, not a great stay.
Historical hotel. Great inside and out. Close by to The Alamo, and the River walk. Great staff, attentive and friendly. Restaurant located in the Hotel, Indian Cuisine. Also used for the complimentary breakfast. Parking lot next to the Hotel. Very clean. Large rooms.
We stayed here a couple of nights, and the location is perfect, a very short walk from both the Alamo and the Riverwalk. The staff is amazing. Most especially Vanessa who checked us in and helped us during our entire stay.
We stayed here for 2 nights. We used valet which was very fast, and the workers were friendly. Hotel staff were also very friendly and helpful. The location was good. It was a short walk to the Alamo and Riverwalk. Breakfast was great. Our only complaint was that we couldn't get it as cool as we liked in our room. I would recommend this hotel.
Stayed at the Best Western this past weekend. The valet Kaitlyn was great. She helped with our luggage and made us feel welcome. The room was small but cozy. The breakfast was great. We will be coming back again.
The location was amazing. We walked by the Alamo on the way to the Riverwalk. Close to everything! The complimentary breakfast is un a restaurant next door, and it was fantastic! Waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, etc. The room was kind of small but suitable. The only complaint, and I'm dropping 2 stars for this because it's a pretty big complaint - the toilet didn't flush properly. We were only there 1 night and there weren't any other rooms available, so we were stuck. We asked for a plunger and used it every time we flushed. You shouldn't have to use a plunger on vacation IMHO. The lady at the front desk didn't seem surprised about the toilet - seems like it's a known/common issue. I would never stay here again because of this problem, which is too bad because otherwise the hotel was wonderful.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was on smaller side but cozy, not too small. Clean facility. Walking distance to RiverWalk and lots of shops. Valet parking only but price pretty reasonable for this. Nice free breakfast. Overall good experience. Would stay there again.
We stayed at the Best Western and we were pleasantly surprised. The room was small but cozy. The hotel was not far from the Alamo and Riverwalk. No free parking but instead paid for valet. The valet attendant, Que, was awesome. She was super helpful and was so genuine. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.
We had one great thing to say about this hotel and that is that the breakfast food had great options. The breakfast room was dirty--sticky floors, unclean tables from previous guests, no utensils readily available. The room itself was hard to stay the night, even one overnight stay left my boyfriend's ears miserable from all of my complaining. The AC would not work at the temperature it was set to, the odor made me want to vomit several times, and there was a part of the walling that was coming unglued that we continued to adjust during our stay. The building itself is old so I had to look past several annoyances that would come up occasionally because of that like slower plumbing, the huge gap between the hotel room door and the frame on the top, hearing all other guests' sounds, etc. Lastly, the hotel advertised that there was an indoor pool, which is one of the reasons that I picked this location from my family. To my surprise, it was "indoor" but the ceiling was not enclosed so all weather was permitted in the pool area. When I went to complain to the manager about the advertisement being different than the actual pool and how my children could not swim, he basically shrugged his shoulders. Even though the front desk has many signs that say for guests to voice their issues or complaints and they will gladly here them, he took my complaint is very trivial and a nuisance. I get it, it probably would be to anyone else, but it was the ONE main reason I picked that hotel. I would've chosen otherwise had I known. We will never go back to that hotel....ever.
The only negative I had with our stay was the bathroom door. The door was a barn-style door. The door was on rollers that you had to roll to close and when the door was closed there was very little privacy as there were big gaps where the door didn't seal against the wall, there was probably a two-inch gap where you could see into the bathroom. The valet attendant's were awesome, very friendly and helpful.
The beds are the best!!!!!! And it was convenient for me and my friends during our stay goin to restaurants! When I come back in the summer I'm for sure coming back to thai best western!!!! And the valet was even better a lady by the name of Ms Lorene was so nice and took very good care of my car!!!
The valet driver, LOREN, was very respectful and especially helpful with directions and places to visit. She was very quick and careful with my truck. And thoroughly checked for any damages. She is an excellent employee and hope to see her on my next visit.
It was a Christmas gift from our daughter, we did enjoy it, it was very clean, had valet parking, which was a little expensive for a one night, but it was a short walk to the Riverwalk. We would stay there again.
Hotel is adequate. If you are looking for something special, it's not here. Location is good, The hotel is getting a little long in the tooth. Adequate covers just about every aspect of the hotel including parking and breakfast.
We had a really good stay. Staff is excellent and room was clean and very comfortable. Parking valet staff is extremely accommodating and helpful, every one is so polite and professional. We would definitely stay here again.
Despite having issues with the reservation and room key (no fault of the hotel staff), Amon at the front desk did everything to help and was very kind! Rooms were clean and fashionable! We will return.
I would recommend this motel to everyone, this was and awesome place to stay , breakfast was awesome, room was very clean and comfortable. Service was very good, enjoyed our stay. The best thing was the price very reasonable .
The entire street in front of the hotel is blocked off for jackhammer work. You will hear this when you check in and when you wake. No sleeping in on your vacation, if sleep important to you in the mornings! Upon checking in, we requested a room that didn't face the street. The front desk gal said almost all rooms face the street and she could give us one on the 7th floor to get furthest away. But this was untrue. There are 5-6 rooms on each floor that do not face the street. We would have gladly waited for one of these. We checked in early and had no issues waiting. But we ended up taking it. The room was SOOOOO SMALL. Room 710 for anyone's reference. The King bed took up almost all the living space. Luckily we only brought one suitcase for both my partner and myself b/c this was a short 2 night getaway to see the Riverwalk lights. Let's proceed. Mini fridge freezer part all frozen over with old ice. Unusable. The main thing I want to call out is the associated restaurant (Indian Spice Grill). I assume it's associated with the Indian owners of the hotel, so this is inexcusable what is next. And it takes a LOT to get me worked up and disgusted as I've traveled to third world countries all over the globe. The BATHROOM in the Indian restaurant (Spice Grill) (where breakfast was served, mind you) was ATROCIOUS! Absolutely filthy disgusting ATROCIOUS. Now, on the contrary, the actual hotel bathroom in the hotel lobby was very nice and clean, so somewhere along the ownership lines, there is a disconnect b/c these two bathrooms could not be more opposite. But this nasty filthy place is where your breakfast will be served so that should tell you something. More oversight is needed on those employees responsible for that area. As for specifics, the back rim of the toilet is flooded with dried yellow stained pee. Tons of it where guys have missed or just not cared. Then the sink area was just an abomination. I needed another place to wash my hands after leaving the bathroom, for goodness' sakes! The date of this visit was Thursday evening, 12/8. The floors in the restaurant were not regularly swept. How do I know this? because I ate dinner at the Indian place on 12/8 (due to my boyfriend's request and our not knowing what it was like at the time) and had breakfast there on 12/9 morning..well, my boyfriend had breakfast. I would not eat there knowing what I knew. The first night at the Indian restaurant, I told my boyfriend to note a few things on the floor and we would see if they were still there in the morning at breakfast. Sure enough they were. One of these two things was a fairly decent sized bug. Another was a "white circle thing / dot" that was near my chair. Both were still there the next morning, as I suspected, amongst all the other things on the unswept floors from the previous night. Their health dept scores were 98 in one place and 85 in another. Go figure. Anyone can get a decent score when they know it's about to happen though. It's when there is no one holding anyone accountable that it counts, right? This place is "premier"? Uhhhh.....I don't think so. Not to mention the construction going on right outside our window. Jackhammers starting early in the morning. Awful. If sleep is important to you, don't book here, as you will wake to this very loud sound very very early. Before 8am! Unacceptable. We asked to have a room on the far side to which we were told there weren't many rooms on that side and consequently, could have the highest 7th floor room facing the street. But untrue. There WERE rooms on the opposite side and we would have gladly waited for one! (We arrived early). Our room 710 was a box with a King sized bed taking up almost the entire walking around space. Super glad we only brought one suitcase between the two of us for this very short trip. Where would the other have gone???? Don't stay here. OR...you can think this is a one-off by a complainer (which I am so NOT) but consider this your warning. I did not let any of this be known while there, as my boyfriend doesn't like to feel like he has to beg for anyone to comp us when they clearly should. We are not alike in this area. We deserve a full refund, but since we didn't address it, too late.
I want to give the hotel 3 stars, but the valet service gets 5 stars. The valet attendant, Jack, was very helpful, informative and friendly! What a nice welcome! The hotel is ok, but in need of a facelift update. There is an odor about the place that seems stale and musty. The location is excellent, easy for walking to any downtown area and river walk.
Stayed at the Best Western over the weekend. Rooms were nice...not as big as we would have thought. Breakfast was nice but would have liked to have a bigger spread. Valet was great...thank you to Mariah for all your help.
The rooms here are definitely worth the price. I loved the view, and location. It's pretty close to the river walk , and has quite a few restaurants and bars nearby as well. They have a great breakfast selection as well. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as I did.
Rooms are small but have everything u need very comfortable bed n pillows. Shower n restroom clean n good space. Nice city view. The breakfast was great. They have different food each day. They did not have parking but there was a public parking right next to hotel.
Very small everything.. bathroom, room and beds were small, not what was advertised on the website. It also had the world's tightest elevator, only 3 people can fit comfortably. Not close to the Riverwalk as I thought.
We had a very nice stay here. We like to walk and took advantage of the location near the River Walk and other San Antonio attractions. The staff is friendly and the Valet parking worked well for us. We were able to leave al lot of lugguage in our car. It is a renovatd older hotel. As with most downtown hotls the rooms are not lot but are well equipped. The interenet worked well.
The valet, Jack, was super nice and very informative went asked a few questions about the city. Way better than at the reception desk. The reception area and breakfast smelling like curry all the time is why I gave a 3 star.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate our vegan preference at the breakfast, where there were limited options. Lisa, who works at the front desk and also Vanessa at the front desk were very nice and friendly. Randy, who works at valet services, was also very nice and helpful. The staff there make this hotel a very nice place to stay. Highly recommended.
I wasn't impressed with the Hotel at all, the room was small, but it was updated, the breakfast wasn't the best, no Eggs or Bacon, no orange juice, only Apple Juice & Water. The Did Hsve Waffles & Biscuits & Gravy & Cereal & Yogurt for Breakfast. Coffee was Provided. In my Opinion it was okay, but a little disappointed with the Menu Choices . The Hotel Staffing wasn't Friendly or Accomdating or eager to Assist You. First time Stay @ the BW & Probably will be My Last. I'll go back to Holiday inn Express or Marriott. I wouldn't even rate this Hotel an 3 star Hotel. More like a 2 star in my Opinion. The Hotel Location was in the Downtown Area, which was a Plus, if you didn't rent a Rental Car.
Good location, nice room. This was a good choice for my visit to San Antonio, it's just a short walk to the Alamo and to the Riverwalk. A bit longer walk to the Tower of America but manageable. The room was very nice, it exceeded my expectations. Breakfast was good. The pool was small but was clean and no one else was using it so I was able to swim a bit. The open skylight above the pool is cool. Overall a good place to stay. There were a couple mentally challenged homeless people roaming the area and one slept on the street at night, but they kept to themselves and didn't seem to bother anyone. I imagine you'd find that anywhere downtown. I didn't use the parking as I didn't pick up a rental car until leaving the area. I used the San Antonio city sightseeing hop off hop on bus for 1 day to see things like Market Square, etc. If you are staying in the area longer you could probably use the city Via bus instead of renting a car.
Nathan and diermo were great!! They handled my car really well and everything was there. It was a smooth and easy process that I would definitely do again! Thank you for your service and working in these really hot conditions!
We had a great stay. Jack at valet was great. He was thoughtful and kind. The room was small but comfortable. The hotel was a block away from the Alamo and river walk. We will definitely be back to the Best Western.
We had to pay for parking after it was listed that parking was free. We had to pay for valet parking and it took away from our funds for a better time for our honeymoon. The management said that they are sorry and that was all was said about the parking. If it was not so late I would have found another hotel to stay at. Also the room was already paid for so we had no choice to stay.
The weekend started out on a negative note because of very loud noises from outside our window. Cars, stereos, voices. The second night they moved us to a room on the back of the building, higher floor…. Bigger, nicer room. Very happy with the way it turned out. Valet was great, but expensive. B
We stayed at the Best Western for the night and was met by Harrison. What a kind and polite young man. He helped us with our luggage and walked us to the front desk. We were very happy with his service. 5 Stars!!
The location was great, but it was constantly hot in our room due to being on the seventh floor I guess? The bathroom was always smoldering hot even with the blinds down. You basically had to leave the door open or you'd sweat, which, I understand it's hot in texas but there was no relief. The room could've been cleaned deeper. Obvious signs of wear and tear along with the door being repainted a zillion times, so you'd have to slam it for it to close or pry it open when you returned. There was no way of charging your phone on both sides of the bed, just one or halfway across the room. The pillows were subpar, so I'd have to fight to go to sleep before they became flat and still woke up feeling like I hadn't really rested. The only good things were the breakfast, location, history of the hotel and valet. Other than that, I'd skip on this one.
Me and my wife wanted to have a small staycation in San Antonio to sight see and check out amusement parks. We were welcomed by Tommy from the valet and informed of the parking options for the hotel. He was very informative and nice when checking us in for valet and even helped with our bags! We were then greeted at the front desk by Lisa who helped us out despite being busy with a line of check ins. Overall good stay!!
Mediocre hotel, in terms of the typical amenities. Biggest issue - I had a camera STOLEN by housekeeping staff, and when I reported to front desk, there was no concern or help. I was handed a generic form to fill out (didn't have Best Western logo or anything), which asked for a lot of personal information, and told that the manager was not available until later in the day (I had to leave). I called to speak to the manager THREE times and could not get her on the phone or a return call. Very much felt like no one cared, or it was almost expected that these things happen, or any response to remedy. Not even an "I'm sorry this happened." NOTHING. I've never experienced such disregard or disappointment from a company in my life.
Jay M was phenomenal! The service was prompt, friendly, and they communicated wonderfully. I would absolutely recommend this to friends and would stay here in the future. We had a wonderful visit. Loved it!
Valet was extremely efficient. Never had a problem. All really nice and super fast. Always ready to take the car as I got there. I would text for my car get ready and as soon as i got outside it waz waiting for me, never had to wait for it. Mariah was super sweet and never failed to get my car ready quickly.
This hotel has a very bad smell. My refrigerator was broken and had a horrible smell. The rooms are dirty and the valet service is expensive and often times it was slow. There was some sort of stain on my wall, the lighting is very dim, and there was some kind of red liquid in between the grout.
This location was very good to get to both the Alamo and River Walk. This historic hotel has been updated and service was very good as well. The rooms were clean, and the breakfast included hot dishes and fresh fruit. The Irish Pub close by had excellent music. The area is up and coming but there were homeless people nearby. This might change as the area is changing.
Cool place! Friendly staff and nice location. Overall a good experience. Kind of disappointed about the pool because it didn't seem very clean. Breakfast was fine and at our time of stay they didn't offer housekeeping service which is fine.
Hector from the valet was amazing during my stay here. He's a big reason as so why I will always stay at the best western when I'm in San Antonio went above and beyond for me every step of the way. I will recommend the best western to all my friends thanks to Hector
Extremely strong Sewage odor in room, told the front desk but nothing was done. Other than that, room was great, and amazing location. Breakfast spread was good, and staff was really friendly, which was great considering they were all working really hard and understaffed!
This was clean and staff were very welcoming very close to the river walk the breckfest was good but the potatos and sauages needed to be cooked more . Beds were good could not hear the noice on the street nice place and will go again soon
Upon arrival, I reported on April 28, room 507, that the bathroom was dirty, the floor and the most deplorable thing in the shower were hair stuck to the wall. I made the complaint on April 28 and requested cleaning, on the 29th they did not clean the room, arguing that I had to request it even though I already had an ailment. Request cleaning for April 30, they made the bed but did not clean the bathroom and there was still hair on the shower wall. Super nasty and disgusting that no one is responsible for cleaning, during my entire stay they did not clean the hair on the wall that was not mine. This has never happened to me in any bestwestern
The BW is the perfect location, walking distance to The Riverwalk and The Alamo. We parked the car and never had to move it all weekend! Great breakfast, hot and fresh with a good assortment of eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffles, oatmeal, juices, breads, and fruit.
Beyond the fact that the entire hotel smells like curry due to the attached restaurant, the bathroom and coffee station in the room were not clean and did not have a working coffee machine, checker out person was unconcerned about the giant cockroach running through the restaurant during the complementary breakfast that was adequate at best.
Front desk personnel very helpful and courteous. Breakfast was great. Restaurant/bar connected to hotel was less than expected but decent food. Very small pool and gym. Valet staff were also very courteous.
Room was tiny and dirty. Staff rude. Plus 35 a night to park. Will never stay here again. Hotel smelled like the Asian restaurant in the lobby. Shower was so scummy you couldn't touch the walls. Toilet didn't flush well.
Everything from checkin, to check out and staff was absolutely beautiful. I will definitely stay there again when visiting San Antonio. Locations is great for walking to see all the tourists attractions.
Upon arrival, found viagra n condoms in room, pants n book bag in the bathroom. Desk was dirty n cereal under the bed. Hotel was full n couldn't get a new room. / Location is great- 5min walk to river walk.
We stayed for a family vacation. It started off bad when I loaded the luggage cart by myself (while wearing a 5 month old) and tried to get the cart in the door- it fell over and spilled all our bags onto the sidewalk. The two valets just sat there and stared at me while I'm trying to awkwardly squat down (again, wearing a baby) to pick up the bags and reload them onto the cart. Luckily my husband had finished checking in by then and rushed to my aide. The rooms are TINY and dirty. Our shower was covered in someone else's hair and my toddler kept trying to pull hair out of the drain. Comforter was stained. We also had to get new towels since ours smelled like sour milk- the new towels smelled just fine. The noise pollution was terrible. We are used to sleeping with a toddler and baby… so we are used to distractions. However, the street noise was awful. You could hear conversations and every car pass by. We slept awful even being a few floors up and buying a white noise machine. Now, the location was nice and close to the river walk. Breakfast was slightly above average- not many healthy choices though- very carb heavy. We also specifically picked this hotel for the indoor pool. Having a toddler that loves to swim- that was a MUST have in which hotel we picked. Unfortunately the pool was FREEZING- like hose water cold. We asked at the front desk and they said they'd have someone out the next morning to look at it. We went the following night- pool was still freezing cold. The front desk gentleman said he didn't know if it was heated and didn't know about anyone coming to look at it. How frustrating when you have your toddler all dressed up in their swimsuit and the pool is way too cold to swim in. We couldn't even stand putting our feet in. All this at over $300 a night?!? It was not a good experience at all. Other than the location, I can't recommend this hotel at all. We were so disappointed, especially for the price. We are frequent visitors to San Antonio but will be looking elsewhere for our next stay.
Brenda was not only warm and welcoming but also knowledgeable. She mapped out some points of interest. She told me about the fabulous laser light show at the San Fernando church. Also strongly recommend Perry's mission tour through gray line. He is passionate, very well informed and provides an insightful tour
Carlos was a great valet! He was very welcoming he was the first person we interacted with and he was a delight very nice guy I am giving him a good review cuz he was great thank you for the great service
The hotel has no parking and the receptionist will mislead you to park next to the hotel and get towed. I suspect they might own either the towing company, the parking and or the car storage facility. It was a total scam. I would rather spend more money and get good service instead of staying here. Also the elevator smells really bad.
Southern hospitality meets a beautiful historic building. The front desk staff is extremely helpful and kind. It was like they were welcoming you into their home. The rooms are newly updated, modern, and clean. Internet is fast. Breakfast is great.... the waffles are shaped like Texas. Hotel is a very short walk from the Alamo. Check out Historic Market Square. Eat at La Margarita.
The staff was extremely gracious and attentive; especially Carlos at the valet station. He was very helpful. Made our trip especially enjoyable. The connection to the Spice Indian restaurant was also very convenient.
The lobby is small and dusty. The elevator fits maximum two people and has stained carpet. The room was very small, and it was difficult to exit the bed (due to how close the wall is to the bed). I am a very small person I might add. The pillows are half the size of an average pillow without traditional foam. It felt like shredded foam or popcorn. For hours at night there was traffic and what sounded like drag racing. There are no bathtubs in rooms (unless guest is a veteran per staff). We definitely won't return.
Carlos gave exceptional service. After he parked the car he returned to it to retrieve something we had forgotten. He was friendly and polite. … an asset to the hotel Room was small but bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good.
The hotel is nice and it is walking distance from almost everything in downtown San Antonio. Carlos was great at valet and was also very helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable and well stocked. Would stay here again in the future.
Carlos in Valet Was Awesome. Hotel was clean, staff was friendly, however, the city doesn't seem safe outside of the Riverwalk (hotel is 3-4 blocks outside). Was begged for $ at least 2 x/day, if you didn't give $, you got cursed out by every 4 letter word. Quite scary but it's not the hotels fault, hence the 5 star review. BTW, if you like Indian food, Spice restaurant next door has AMAZING Indian cuisine. I have been to India many, many times and found this food even more flavorful than in India. A must if you like Indian food or spicy food!!!
Very cool rooms and valet Carlos was very helpful pool was very relaxing very cool architecture and right in the middle of the city very good place to stay if you are going to the Alamo and river walk
The hotel was extremely small and old. The elevator could only for 2 people at a time not including suit cases. Our room felt like a small closet and sheets had blood stains. It was disgusting! They are short staffed and cleanliness isn't a priority for them.
Great stay! Super convenient to the Alamo and River walk! The valet service is highly recommended. Guillermo always hd the car ready to go by the time we walked out for those further excursions. Pearl Brewery LLC area is a must! Shopping, restaurants and a large outdoor activity area! We will be back for sure!!!
Sheets never cleaned - shower disgusting - smelled horrible - amenities broken - no breakfast …. Huge waste of money and upset children. Spent over budget to have everything on one place and ended up not receiving. Not a family place at all. Not recommended!!
The staff at this hotel exceeded my expectations. They were amazing!! We stayed here for a nite on our honeymoon and they put rose pettles and a little bag of chocolates in our room. We had an issue at checking with our truck and the staff was very accommodating.
If you're on the first floor, be ready for a weed-smoking parking attendant outside your window to slam the fire door about 15 times during the night, shaking the entire wall and sconces above your head. The hotel staff claims to not be aware of this issue, and therefore did not try to help in any way. The marijuana smell seeping through the window was not ideal for my two small children to breathe in. The rooms are very small. It was hard to find an outlet that would hold a plug or charge anything. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. However, the free breakfast in the morning was located inside the neighboring Indian food restaurant that had filthy floors. I won't be returning to this location.
This hotel is in a great location if you don't mind not overlooking the River Walk. Located only a couple of blocks from The Alamo and The River Walk. Easily walkable. The hotel itself is just as advertised. Historic. The room décor is updated but the room was on the smallish side but it has everything you need. The valet, while expensive at $37 per night, was actually worth it so plan on paying that cost. The valet staff were EXCELLENT, very nice, respectful and accommodating. The gentleman who ran the front desk when we checked in was EXCELLENT as well. I would recommend staying here, the price was higher by about $40 on the weekend as compared to week nights which is typical.
Location is ok. Breakfast is horrible. Hotel needs improvement. Floors are nasty and dirty. Front desk is friendly. Major parking issues here! DO NOT PARK AT THE LOT NEXT DOOR! We got towed and we paid!
Breakfast served until 10 am. Showed up at 9:30 and food and drink was all gone. Was told they stop cooking at 9:30 and no more food will be brought out. What appears to be complimentary tiny water bottles at the check in desk are not free. Bed hard as a rock.
Ashlynn B was incredibly helpful during my stay at the hotel! I needed a cart to bring my luggage inside and she offered to go and get what I needed to make my stay easier, instead of just staying at the valet. She went out of her way to make me comfortable here.
The hotel is in need of upgrades. The breakfast is basic, one day they had “oatmeal “ as a warm item, the other nothing warm. No juice. Just coffee/tea/milk. If you choose this place to save on $ for breakfast, just realize it is not worth it and that you will probably end up going elsewhere for food. Hard to sleep because you easily hear every bus passing by/get woken by cops telling homeless to leave the premise. No warm shower on 2nd night and no correction for this. Weather was freezing so taking a cold shower before a conference was horrible. I'm not in need of anything elaborate for certain trips but this place was below average. Not premier at all.
Ashlynn B was very pleasant and professional! Great experience! She was very kind and courteous to us while we stayed at the Best Western. She even had suggestions on sites to see and places to visit!
We've stayed here twice before and love it every time. Reasonably priced, great location minutes from the River Walk , cute rooms with comfortable beds, and staff is great. Special shout out to Rene V, he was a super helpful!
Isaiah B. did a wonderful job taking care of us and our car during our anniversary trip to San Antonio. I felt much safer than parking our car in an open lot. Thank you! We will definitely be back in the future
Thanks Isaiah B and Osiris H!! Valet process was seamless and our car was ready within minutes! Best service! Made our checkout process even easier which reflects well on the hotel. Thanks again!! Great visit.
They did amazing! They were fast and efficient! They took very good care of us!! Isaiah has the best customer service!! Never had trouble! Will be coming back! Will be telling my friends and family about it
If you're looking for an old time feeling, this is the hotel for you. Small room, small elevator older decor. Valet service was mediocre. We did not eat the breakfast just used the coffee machine in the room, make sure to bring your own water.
I decided to pay a little more for this particular room due to it's location being about 2 blocks from The Alamo and the Riverwalk. Other than this main feature, the hotel disappointed us during our stay. We arrived after dark, and check in was smooth, but when we got to our room, one of the only two lights did not work, leaving the room very dark. The room was smaller than the pictures on the website led us to believe, and there was something splashed onto the window curtain that was gross , leaving me and my partner disgusted. The breakfast was pretty good, and the valets did a great job. Check out went smooth, but over all, I feel that the price paid for this particular room was WAY too high for the quality of the room.
San Antonio was a three stop on a cross country trip from California to South Carolina. The hotel is well located to see the River Walk and Alamo. As a renovated older hotel, the Premier Travelers is a nice property. As other reviews state, the rooms are small, which is no big deal for we did not come to stay in our room but to see the city. The room was. clean, the bed very comfortable, and it was quiet on the sixth floor. The breakfast on Thursday was a Best Western basic, but the breakfast Friday and Saturday in the restaurant were much better. The staff was very good and helpful . . . especially Tyrell and Lisa. The valet parking is expensive . . . you may want to park you car yourself in one of the nearby city garages if you want to save $35 a night. We would recommend this hotel for visit to San Antonio.
All of the staff from valet to front desk gave the best customer service! I felt really welcomed and safe. The rooms are decorated nicely and the bed was very comfortable. The showers are nice and relaxing. The only bother was seeing a hair on the shower wall but that was a very minor thing in my overall experience. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Priced right for the area.
Stay was close to downtown. I was able to leave my car and walk everywhere. The RockNRoll race went right in front of hotel. 1st floor was noisy due to people outside walking by. Nice indoor pool that is heated!
Our room was super small like if you were a big person you couldn't get around easily. Breakfast was absolutely nasty and served in an Indian Restaurant next door with only stale coffee and apple juice. I had bugs in my cup!!! Eggs to saltly to eat. Waffles where undercooked and soggy sausage, stale bread to toast. We skipped it the rest of the days. The first day there was nothing left to speak of at 9:30. Parking is expensive so we didn't get a car. We asked for towels and tp 3 times before we got them. The biggest issue is not something the hotel can help but there was people screaming FU and other stuff (fights) and loud traffic all night. You just could not sleep. Would I stay here again. Yes because the bed was sooo comfortable and it's close to everything. Tobin Center is walkable as is the Alamo.
I don't even understand how this establishment is labeled a "premier hotel" at best it was lower grade BW or even a Motel 6. I wasn't greeted as a Diamond Select Member and when I went to go get two water bottles from the shop if you could even call it that I was told that was $4. I said no these are free I'm a Diamond Select member. I also said I have BW gift cards and was told that those are not excepted when the expiration date on them is in late November. Most of the outlets did not work, the tv had only a few channels that worked and when I told the staff Vannessa about this she said she would send someone up, this was Friday night right after we check-in and Sunday morning when we left, no one had shown up still. Also, how is this a "premier" BW when they don't even provide two-ply bath tissue?! Seriously ONE PLY?? I tried to call the hotel several times and no one would ever pick up even calling from my cell phone. I came home only to find out that the two sodas and two bottles of water had been charged to my card in the amount of $12.92 when I was told they were $2.00 each. Lisa at the front desk told me that the only charge on my card was the valet parking of $35.03. So why was I charged $12.92 as well? I called the hotel and guess what no one will answer the phone. I will be contacting BW customer relations and recommending that this establishment be stripped of its brand and right to be affiliated with all things BW!!
Was great customer service. Lisa and her son were amazing! Just didn't appreciate the contractor valet that rummaged and stole from us. I did report this to Lisa I just wish I could have received a refund. The hotel is very nice and a very great location.
This hotel is horrible place to stay- the rooms are so gross and the carpets are so very old and filth- we paid 538.00 for 4 nights but they had good coffee - the location is very good- the front desk girl was very kind- her name is Lisa
Rooms are a little small but very nice and very clean. Mrs Lisa and her son were amazing. Some of the best staff I have come across. The night lady as well. Stayed the weekend of the 23rd. The man housekeeper was amazing and cleaned our room up super nice and did cute designs with the towels. Felt very at home.
If you like old hotels that have been restored, then this may be the place for you to stay in Downtown San Antonio. It reminded me of hotels that I've stayed at in NYC. The location was walking distance to The Riverwalk. In addition, we enjoyed exploring the shops and restaurants nearby. The staff was always friendly and we got a good rate.I would definitely stay here again,
David F. who was the valet retrieved a bag for me from the trunk of my car late at night. He was very nice about it and didn't seem to mind doing the task at all. He deserves 50 stars! Thank you David!
Stayed at the Premier Best Western and really enjoyed our time there. Close to the Riverwalk and the Alamo and very reasonably priced. Valet service was excellent especially Matt who helped load our luggage into our trunk on our last day! Well done!
The sheets were not changed from the previous guest. Valet parking is $35 per night which is NOT optional. We found hair and moist stains on our sheets. Fortunately, we travel with our own sheets and didn't need the hotels. The rooms are very tight. The towels are very coarse
Definitely a fair price for what you get. Just don't expect a top notch property. The pictures are definitely professional. Our king room was not very large. Breakfast is not very good, eggs are powdered, bacon is microwaved. Waffles were good tho.
Had a wonderful experience. The hotel is within walking distance to almost all of the excellent down town experiences. Service was wonderful, as well as the valet. Kevin P was very nice and great with response times!
All of the staff is super nice and friendly! Kevin P. was also really nice and took care of my car! He helped me with all of my questions. Would definitely recommend staying at the best western premier!
We had a very good stay at this hotel. The breakfast in the mornings were very good. Also the room was excellent. We are very satisfied with this establishment and very clean and polite representatives .
Ernest Luna has outstanding customer service the hotel is amazing the rooms are clean guests services were excellent free breakfast in the morning extremely clean nice location close to downtown nice stay decent price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hotel was very nice , hot breakfast & food was good , valet helped a lot, mark Helped us load our bags to our vehicle. Hotel was walking distance from river walk. Hotel also had nice views. Check in & check out was fast and easy.
This is a fine hotel but don't expect bells and whistles. The rooms are quite small and not updated - in this day and age, both sides of the bed should allow for charing a device! The fitness center does not have the best equipment and the pool is really tiny. However, it is okay and in a location that makes it convenient to walk to everything. Props to front desk worker Vanessa, who was super sweet and helpful.
We had a blast, reasonable prices very clean. Very friendly . Tha k you to staff Joseph & Miss Mary who were so helpful. We will definitely be back. Location was Excellent in the middle of all the action of downtown San Antonio. Not to far from the Riverwalk and river center mall. Nice restaurants up and down the street. Nice bars around the hotel.
Ernest Luna is a breath of fresh air. He was very accommodating to my daughter and I. He went above and beyond to assist us. Ernest wanted to ensure that we were well taken care of. Thank you Ernest!!
The hotel was in a great location. Ernest Luna and Mary were very helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast. Had a good variety. The hotel was close to the Alamo and Riverwalk there were many good restaurants close by and on the Riverwalk.
Very attentive service! Highly recommend! Ernest Luna at the Best Western hotel in downtown San Antonio took great care of us and showed amazing hospitality! He's also had great recommendations for the city ready for us!
Ernest luna over at the valet was very helpful with our luggage and punctual when pulling up our car. Definition of great worker and customer service. We really appreciated how helpful he was during our stay.
I'm I have to suggest one hotel in the River Walk area this would be it. It is a beautiful building, rooms are amazing and you melt into the bed. The hotel staff is by far the best in the area. Mark Z in valet always had our car ready when we text down for it. He was very helpful and always was able to help us when needed. I don't leave many reviews but I do for hotels that I feel go above and beyond. And this hotel does!!!!
Mark Z has exceptional customer service. Polite and very helpful! 5 Stars! Breakfast was excellent. Front desk manager was helpful with much needed information. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Awesome hotel nice gym and clean overall. The valets are great ernest Luna helped me out and was a pleasure talking to. Overall it has been a great stay and easy walking to most attractions near down town and the riverwalk.
Jay M Is an awesome guy we enjoyed him helping us out thanks so much We appreciate everything this valet has done And how friendly he is thanks again for everything Looking forward to our next trip!!!!!
This property was close to The Alamo, Riverwalk, and Bus station. I got this for my in laws and they really enjoyed their stay. The property was clean and cool. The staff was very friendly and professional.
We were helped by mark z at checkout . He was extremely nice and helped with luggage, which we are beyond grateful since we have two kids and getting them in the car and situated can be a little rough.
Cool dude brought my car and was fast, never wasted my time gave a jolly rancher, very cool dude. Lady at front desk was very polite. 100% would come back once I turn 21 :(. Well deserved. Only thing was the construction
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Once we got there, they parked our car and we didn't drive anywhere. It is located about 3 to 4 blocks from the Riverwalk, The Alamo and anything else you want to see. We didn't know there was construction going in right beside the hotel, and there isn't any parking. But, we definitely recommend staying there! We stayed on the 5th floor and could see the city.
You have to pay 30 dollars for parking and the motel is hard to find. The lobby didn't look anything like the picture. It's all pretty old and then the room floors were extremely sticky and there was a very strong air freshener smell. The restaurant is Indian and smells odd in there and the milk was old at breakfast. Overall not a good experience and won't ever be returning.
The whole place was very dirty. They had an empty hand sanitizer bottle sitting in the breakfast room. They are an Indian restaurant by night so that is just plain weird and left a bad odor. When we arrived we had to change rooms because the shower had hair and the bathroom floor also had hair and grime. At night there was an argument and fighting in the hallway for several hours. Overall was not satisfied with the staff, cleanliness and the very rude $30 valet service.
Alejandro S. took care of our vehicle during our 4 day stay and we couldn't be more pleased with his prompt and friendly service. We had to leave some items in the bed of our truck and he kept a close eye to make sure they didn't go missing.
I was surprised to find the street this hotel is on tore up and an excavator parked outside the front of the hotel. My window view was of the construction equipment. They started at 7AM so be prepared. Also my bathroom floor, shower, and towels all had hairs found in them. Would not stay here again.
We had come to San Antonio the riverwalk and we had no idea what to do and they came to us and explained it to us… since then they have taken very good care of me I was impressed… the guy that took care of me Tuesday evening was amazing and sweet…thank u so much…
The hotel is definitely an older building, hence the name historic, lol. But it is very close to the attractions. There was construction going on the front street when I was staying there but they had valet parking. Staff was wonderful.
Although, the Best Western Premier hotel was okay in total (amenities lacked severly, but stay was nice overall), the valet service was great. Mark M gave great service, as well as the full valet staff we worked with. Thanks.
Tons of construction going on all around, hard to get to and very loud. Parking was listed as an amenity, it's not. As we approached the hotel and entered the lobby it reeked of curry. The restaurant attached is Indian. Room was clean but really small. Bathroom doors are barn doors and dont latch, so they roll back open. There was no housekeeping for all 3 days we were there. We asked for towels 4 times at the front desk and ea time they were in the process of cleaning them. 5th time was the charm, got those towels. Bldg said to be historic, just seemed old and sad. Very disappointed.
We stayed 2 days and had to pay $30.00 a night to park our car, not acceptable… Lots of construction by hotel….very noisy. Complimentary shampoo & cream rinse bottles were not even half full (used ) if you can believe that.
Dillon was so polite and friendly. hotel service was ok buy parking team was excellent. we wait 2 hrs for recive room . we did check it at 4 pm. and they gave to us the room at 5:45. pm . again valet parking team . save my day dulok take care of my car . thanks Dillon and Jay . form 300s white car.
Went to my assigned room and nothing was made up. Went to the front desk and they put me in another room. Didn't realize it until morning that I had no soap or toiletries. The Tv remote did not work either. Went to the front desk and received no apologizes and he did not swap out the remote.
Front desk staff made no effort to explain where to park. I parked next door to the hotel asked the front desk if that was hotel parking for guest and my car would be okay he said yes I was fine, only to check out next day and find out my car was towed. Called Manager no call back. I don't recommend this hotel as obviously they don't care about there guest. I would have paid the hotel parking fee with no problem. But I guess that was not a option.
Hotel was great! They had delicious breakfast on the weekend and the pool was open with 1 hr reservations due to COVID. Parking is 27 a night and it's right next to hotel, they give you a pass to place in the car. River walk is about a 8-10 minute walk! Super convenient. Rooms are small, but so comfortable and clean! Overall great stay!
Random bolt laying on desk. Charging dock on wall just balanced in slot, not wired. Sewer smell. Terrible lighting. Worst example of breakfast ever. Only room for 1 person to get cereal and or coffee. That is not a Bar and Grill it is an Indian restaurant Duct tape to cover gaps in sliding bathroom door (and poorly at that). $30 parking after an already inflated price. No recognition or check out options. You have to move night stand to get to a plug in. Coffee maker still had old KCup in it. 1 drinking cup. 2 packets of sugar and no stir sticks. Least private bathroom I have ever been in. It is a dangerous sliding door that has gaps on each side allowing you to see in at different angles. Tiny bathroom. We would use the bathroom in the lobby.Lighting was basically nonexistent.
An over 100 year old property, but nicely updated. Rooms are small, but comfortable with all the need amenities. Bathrooms are spacious, with a nice walk-in shower, toiletries, and hair dryer provided. The rooms have all the needed technology upgrades, to include: Wifi, Bluetooth connection and USD/HDMI to the large flat screen TV, as well as a USB charging port in the room. A very quiet hotel just off the hectic Riverwalk/Alamo corridor, only a block and a half to the Alamo easy walk, while being very quiet. Extremely comfortable King bed. Open roof pool was very relaxing and warm. Front desk staff are awesome!
Web site pictures are deceiving. The lobby is not as pictured. There is no breakfast room the pool is small. The room was so small two people cannot pass each other. Barley enough room to get out of bed. At least two of the ice machines were not working on the 2nd and 4th floor, I had to go up to the 6th floor for ice. The hotel is not in the best location, homeless sleeping in door ways. My bath towel was in shreds. We were on the 2nd floor and had street noise all night. I cannot recommend this hotel. No more "premier" for me!
I was satisfied with my stay and its location to the River walk. However the restaurant next door left a weird smell lingering in the lobby. They hotel should think about getting an air freshener system.
Rooms are small, but the staff is great. Everything that we needed was addressed promptly and cordially. It had historic feel, and was close to everything we wanted to do. We were there to take the grandkids to the Alamo. This was perfect. I will stay there again
Service is not the best and argue that you didn't book a room that you clearly have a confirmation email showing you did. Rude staff members expect for the young lady when we checked out. The elevators didn't work asked if they were gonna fix this and replied “I'm not a elevator fixer”. The room was okay but overall probably won't be returning.
If you like a great location downtown San Antonio, friendly professional service, good price, and quality rooms.... You're going to LOVE this hotel & it's people! We were greeted, taken care of, personally taken care of like we the only people in the world! The mess-up I made of reservations was quickly resolved by the staff. Just plain GOOD People!
The Indian restaurant directly next door produces an Indian spice smell so strong that it smells like a spice truck overturned in the lobby. It permits the entire hotel and even though I like Indian food it is nauseating in a few moments. One of the two staff members I interacted with was a bit rude and a loof and not very helpful though the other one was fantastic. The rooms are a lot smaller than they look in the pictures online. There is about a foot of space between the bed and the wall on one side and maybe two feet on the other. The Keurig is tiny and only fits the little paper cups they give you. It does not fit a travel mug. There's no breakfast available due to Covid. Parking is in the lot behind the building but it's $20 additional per day. That is not advertised. The elevators are very small and have trouble fitting more than three people or one person and a few bags. Mattresses are very springy and not very comfortable. I constantly slept with a spring in my hip.
they charged me, once i left the hotel with my regular invoice which was 450$ for a week in covid days, 250$ extra a couple of days later on. just take care with them. they are just cheeters. afterwards there is no way to reply, defend or explain yourself. they just charge you because they think that 250$ is not that much to get them in trouble. this place just looks like the living hell for a worker or a turist. moreover, if you ask them about the parking area, they wont tell you any place 1min by walk far away 20$ cheaper by they. if you go there, please just dont make yuor self at home (wich won't be cleaned "becouse the covid stuff") but they will charge you about it, take it for granted.... there are plenty of places around, no woories
Front desk should be wayyy more informative of parking lot payment & also probably be visible at front desk! Our vehicle was towed within 10mins of trying to check in. We had to pay $220 to get our car back! Horrible!
Pros: Location is good as it is a short walk (3-4 blocks) from the Alamo. Nice size shower considering room and bathroom is small. Lobby and breakfast area were very nicely done. Breakfast was nice. Cons: You shouldn't walk to the right when you exit the building as the neighborhood is somewhat abandoned. Asked the front desk clerk and he advised against going that way. Old windows means you hear every noise on the street at night which was often and load all night (and we were on the top (6th) floor of this hotel. I was awakened 4x and my wife awakened 3x due to sirens, crowds screaming at 3am, blasting radio from cars, etc. Very small room and very tight bathroom - 1/2 the size of all the other hotels we stayed in during our cross country trip. Should have known it was a bad sign when we got to the room and a paper said that ear plugs were available at the desk. Valet offsite and parking cost $32.48 - wait for car was 15 to 27 minutes since it is several blocks offsite.
Wow what a fantastic welcome to this hotel from the most lovely and friendly lady on reception. Our room was on the ground floor near to the entrance hall, it was slightly on the small side, but perfectly adaquate for a couple of nights stay. The beds were big and comfortable, a large bathroom and good working TV and WIFI connection. Our view was out onto the car park, however this was not an issue since we were not in our room during the day time. The breakfast area was spacious and there was a good offering. The hotel was very clean throughout. It was only 10 minutes walk into town and the river walk area. I would happily stay here again.
Cute “small boutique “ hotel. Rooms are on the small side, with no extra seating. The restaurant for dinner would not be recommended. It's supposed to open at 5:00 p.m. Actually opened at 6:10p.m. The food is all from East India so if you're not a fan you're out of luck. The manager of the hotel was very accommodating but we were disappointed with the accommodations. It is within walking distance of the River Walk.
This hotel was a great deal for the conference I attended: nice room, walking distance to the convention center, a few blocks from the RIverwalk, 2 blocks from the Alamo. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and made me feel well cared for. There is a small French coffee house and lunch place just across the street, kitty corner from the hotel entrance, run by a Parisian couple—great place for coffee and breakfast (and frankly beats the hotel breakfast by miles, by my taste). Finally, the hotel is two blocks from the Greyhound station, where I took a bus to Austin—very convenient and cheap. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.
Tyrel was very unprofessional with me on the phone as I attempted to help my daughter with a situation she faced. Her credit card didn't clear for her last day she had reserved. To take care of the problem she went to the front desk. Tyrel, who is supposed to be a professional took offense to the way she spoke to him. She was obvious upset by the decline and anxious about what she would do. We are from Michigan and thus very direct. We also don't say sir and ma'am but we do say please and thank you. We are not being disrespectful, it is just what we know. He would not allow her back into her room until she had a credit card that would clear to pay for her room. So she called me. At this point she is very upset and a little bit panicked. Rather than assuring her that we could take care of it, he was rude and insulting to her which upset her more. By the time she called to ask for my help she was very upset and at the point of tears. She has an anxiety disorder and just needed reassurance. As I was calming her down on the phone, she is expressing her frustration with him and he is saying things to her in the background. So by this time she is now swearing at him, which is something she would not normally do. I spoke with him and asked how we could resolve the problem. He told me I could give him my credit card information, but I would have to fill out a form to authorize its use. He told me he could fax the form or email it to me. I asked him to email the form and then I waited and waited and waited. Finally, I called my daughter back to see if he had sent it and his response was, "No, I was going to send it until I was swore at. She needs to get her things and leave." I called the hotel and talked to him directly to see if the problem could still be resolved. He refused to help in any way and said he called the police. He also refused to acknowledge he escalated the situation. All she needed was a show of compassion and this was an easy fix. How often is a credit card number given over the phone to charge for something? I do it all the time. This man was insensitive and unprofessional and should not be allow to deal with the public. This small issue became a huge deal because "It was above his pay grade to help her." My daughter is a respected elementary school teacher who happens to have an anxiety disorder. She travels often and has never been treated so badly. If you decide to stay here, make sure TYREL is not working.
This hotel was a great place to stay. I loved the convenience to the Riverwalk and other shops. And the charm of this hotel was amazing. The staff was great and so were the amenities. If you wasn't convenience and great service this is the place.
This place is excellent to stay at. location is absolutely perfect, close to shops, walking distance to the Alamo and to the river walk. Rooms small but nice and cosy and clean, definitely no views. Staff is amazing and welcoming, valet was lovely and great easy to request the car. But I must say that it was very noisy and the blinds didn't block out the light. Breakfast could use an update though the food wasn't the best and needed more variety.
I stayed in this lovely historic hotel while visiting San Antonio and it was charming and clean, clean, clean! I loved learning about its history, being built in the 1800's (that's why the rooms are small) and was the Travelers Hotel -- targeting traveling salesmen back in the day and was men-only at that time. Today it offers all modern amenities while retaining some original structures. I'd definitely return!
This hotel has amazing staff and a beautiful atmosphere. The front desk people were so helpful. Valet was great to work with. The food was good, and the bar staff were so nice. We had an excellent stay and will be coming back.
The hotel was very clean and the services was very good. We were dissapointed when we got there and found out the indoor pool was really an indorr/outdoor. The pool was heated but, the roof was open and it was to cold to sit around the pool. Also the resturant and lounge wasn't open. It did open while we were there but only offerred Indian cusine and the drinks were to strong to drink.
The staff in the breakfast buffet and valet was wonderful. The facility was the worst. The room was so small as a king standard the you couldn't even walk beside the bed to get in to it. No side chair. Just a miserable stay. Noisy at night from drag racing on the streets below.
I stayed in San Antonio for my brother's graduation. The hotel was situated close to the Alamo and river walk. I loved the convenience of walking to the nearby attractions. However the Parking is horrible here. They only have a Valet option which was 30$ a night and when I asked about other parking options in the area they refused to tell me. I had to ask other people in the area to find out there was essentially a 10$ over night garage just 3 blocks down. Also there was so much noise coming from my hotel room at night since there was construction nearby. I could hear the elevator every single time and we had one of the farthest rooms away from it! Not to mention when I had made the reservation online I had requested for a double and was only provided with a single King's bed. The only good thing about my stay was the breakfast.
I had read a few unfair reviews of this hotel and were they ever wrong. This place was an excellent place to stay. The rooms were small but very nice and clean. Some people complained about the noise. We heard some noise (due to construction) but it wasn't too bad. They do offer earplugs. We stayed at the Hyatt during Thanksgiving and paid $280 a night and I would definitely stay here again instead of the Hyatt. The breakfast was wonderful. The elevators were small but so what? Don't listen to the negative people....stay here.
My friends from New York and I needed a room at the last minute close to the Riverwalk. I called the hotel direct and spoke to Brenda that went above and beyond our expectations!! Tyrell at the front desk also gave me piece of mind that my car would be safe stowed away while we walked to the riverwalk, the Alamo and other beautiful historic sights in downtown San Antonio. The room was very nice, clean, and within walking distance to everything. The full breakfast the next morning was amazing as always!! Highly recommend this place and many thanks to Brenda!!!
was thoroughly disappointed that after paying significant money got the service of poor quality. the lifts were very small stinky and smelly and after requests also nothing was done to rectify the issue. very small lifts as well as rooms. not worth the money spent.
Very pleasant stay! Decor of the room was on point! Amenities down to earplugs were available for the light sleepers, very nice! Breakfast was tasty, it definitely helped get the day started! Aprrove!
Great location. Only 2 blocks to the River Walk and 1 block to the Alamo. Hotel is historic therefore elevators and rooms are smaller than most. Valet parking was convenient. Front desk was exceptionally helpful and even allowed us to check in early.
Excellent staff, great breakfast and 5 minute walk to downtown. The rooms were clean and well decorated. Housekeeping was very helpful and they let us checkout an hour late w no problems. I would definitely recommend this place.
Very close but not on the Riverwalk. Historic Hotel (1914). Nice lobby, great and efficient check in. The check in person lead a happy birthday to me in the lobby upon check in. I booked two rooms and they were able to accommodate us with adjoining, without even requesting. Those rooms were 127 and 128. We had our own private entrance right off the street and lobby! No other rooms have that! 2.5 blocks to River Walk. The breakfast is standard roadside motel fare. You are paying here for the location in my opinion. Within walking distance of Alamo, River Walk and the shopping areas. No bar, but a neighborhood bar next door. Valet parking at 32 dollars per night, or you can park nearby for less in unattended yet secure lots, from what I saw. I'd stay again mainly for location at a reasonable price.
The room, although small, was nicely decorated and perfectly set up for my adult daughter and I traveling for a wedding and staying over in San Antonio. Staff exremely friend and helpful, we could not have asked for a more enjoyable stay. Not on the Riverwalk, but so close and convenient. We avoided the noise of New Year's revelers. Bed extremely comnfortable, breakfast and afternoon cookies/offerings made it a very pleasant experience. Some construction near entrance of hotel, but very minimal impact on our stay. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend!
We took an overnight trip to San Antonio to attend a concert and we adore historic hotels. We've stayed at several in San Antonio over the years but this one did not measure up to the competition. The cost was on up there and yet the experience did not justify the cost. While the staff was efficient and very helpful, the valet service could have been improved. We dropped the vehicle off then called for it a couple of hours later. It was still where we'd left it. Moreover, the valet moving a car in front of us nearly backed into us twice- my husband had to sound the horn twice. As aforementioned, the staff was lovely. The room was clean and the bed was quite comfortable which is a plus! However the room had a shabby feel, with dings here and there. The bathroom threshold was pulling away from the floor, the door had been planed down for better closing but not repainted and a half dozen other cosmetic problems. The coffee maker was located in a an awkward spot within the wardrobe unit, and could only be filled if pulled out and perched on the edge. The lobby did not seem particularly well cared for either. It was very cool the floor was old and it's understandable that it was yellowed in places, but a coating of dust on the lobby furniture did not add to the ambiance. Sadly we could not recommend this to other travelers at the price charged.
For the price it wasn't worth it. The elevators we're working right. The rooms were very small. For $40 dollars more we could have stayed at the Hyatt on the River walk. Well do better research next time.
The Best Western hotel is a cute, compact hotel with close proximity to everything you want to see in San Antonio. The rooms are small but clean with extremely comfortable beds and beautiful clean bathroom. There is a small fitness room and lovely breakfast in a cheerful dining room. The staff is pleasant and the best part is the location!!!!
The hotel is located around the block from the Alamo we loved that! But the room was super small, you could hear every vehicle passing through. Room Cleaning was a joke, no hotel parking, paid $30 to park our motorcycle
Let me first say we are Best Western rewards members. This is without a doubt the smallest hotel room we have ever stayed...whether overseas or in the US. The room was so small we could barely get around the bed and when my husband was sitting at the desk I had to climb over the bed to get to the other side because the desk chair took up all the available space. For the price we paid ...!!! When we checkd in the front desk the clerk told me the hotel had been re-done and was once a hostel hotel..and when they put in the private baths in the rooms it took up a lot of the available space and this was very true....having traveled overseas I knew the room would be tiny because hostel rooms are tiny. The bed was so high I had trouble getting into it and worried about hurting myself. The pillows were also tiny as was the elevator. I felt like "Alice in Wonderland" in a tiny world. It is not in the best area...homeless are everywhere and followed us which was scary. I was afraid to walk to the Riverwalk. The breakfast room on the otherhand is one of the largest BW I have seen. The breakfast was OK with many hot and cold items. Vallet is $32.00 a day. We will never stay here again and think the pictures make the hotel look pretty good...it is not nearly this nice and very pricy for what you get!!
Staff was very nice and helpful. Room was small but well decorated and cozy (the bed was so comfy!!). There wasn't a lot of lighting in the room but we got around just fine. Great location for someone like me who was just in town for a concert around the corner that evening.
The room was very nice and spacious, the decor was nice but we did notice the sheets were stained and dirty with something red.... almost looked like blood. Then when housekeeping came by, we were still in the room getting ready for the day so we told them that they did not need to service our room but we did ask for towels and toilet paper. They gave us one roll of toilet paper.... even though we told them one of us was sick and was having to use the restroom constantly. Then on Saturday night, we had reservations at a restaurant downtown at 10:25. The valet had given us a small card with a number to text whenever we wanted them to bring the car around. I texted the number at 10:01pm and I didn't get my car until 10:45pm....we had to cancel our reservations. When they finally did bring the car around I asked both the front desk agent (Justin) and the valet (did not catch his name but he was young and looked to be South East Asian) "what took so long?" and they literally had nothing to say for it. The valet guy said "I don't know, I never got the text." Justin checked my phone and confirmed that I texted the right number but didn't have anything to say for it either. It was not until I said "so that's it? you just don't know?" that they offered me an apology. That was all they did, they didn't offer anything complimentary for the delay and inconvenience. The following morning we were set to check out but we woke up a little bit late so I called the front desk to see if I could have a late check out, they said no. Also the breakfast had no variety, the only egg option were those that come in frozen and they just heat up. Gross! I work at a Best Western Plus hotel myself and I know what its like to deal with guests. Our goal is always to accommodate the guest as best we can and offer our best customer service, but it seems like this hotel doesn't care. I stayed here in August and had a pleasant stay, the front desk agent at the time was super nice and helpful which is why I decided to stay here again, but this time around it was just horrible. These people just don't know how to treat and talk to guests.... the only nice front desk agent was Amanda (I think that's her name, I may be wrong). I will not be staying here again and I will make it a point to contact the Best Western Customer service line and I will make sure to tell all my friends and family about the horrible experience.
I stayed at the best western when i came to San Antonio for the first annual day of the dead riverwalk fiesta. The hotel was very accommodating with great location to everything in town. I always stay here when i come to visit. There staff is always so helpful and nice. I would recommend i.t to everyone.
The room was smaller than expected. Elevators very small. Valet parking offered for around $30 per night. All of San Antonio has a escalated parking fees! The location is great for Alamo and the bus lines. Breakfast was great but we learned it was being phased out for a cafe to increase profits.
Older hotel with upgrades; pictures a little deceiving. Staff and service good, room extremely small and walls paper thin and hear all outdoor noises and people in other room closest to my room. Seemed a bit overpriced but I'm sure that was because of location which is close to a lot of attractions. Overall the staff made the stay good.
Yes the rooms are small but if you are sitting around in your room and not enjoying San Antonio why bother going. We stayed 5 nights and found hotel staff friendly and rooms clean and comfortable. We were basically out and about from 9 am to 10 pm everyday anyway. Hotel is central to everything - river walk just along the road and Alamo just around the corner (make sure you take the time to see the other Missions as for a New Zealander taking away the obvious American Historical connection with the Alamo the other Missions are very original and very impressive to see.
We enjoyed our stay at the Premier Historic Traveler's Hotel. It's a lovely historic building that's downtown and only a couple blocks from the Alamo and riverwalk. The rooms are small, but clean and decorated nicely. The price is far more reasonable than staying directly on the riverwalk.
Contrary to all the positive reviews on trip advisor, our stay was exactly the opposite and this hotel was the most disappointing and disgusting hotel we have ever stayed in. Yes, the location is great and it is very near to the centre of San Antonio and the Riverwalk but that's where the good bit ended for us. We started with a used wound dressing in the bed! Even the Housekeeping Manager and a Housekeeper were appalled at what we had found and wanted us to move room however the hotel was full and so they completely remade the bed. The next morning, we showered and got ready for a day in San Antonio. After showering and walking around the room we both had to wash our feet again as the carpet was so filthy it made our feet black. It was very obvious from the dust, dirt and grit that this carpet had not be cleaned or vacuumed properly for a long, long time. We talked to the Hotel Manager and showed her video and photographic evidence and she naturally apologised and stated that she would have the room deep cleaned whilst we were out and that she would reimburse us for that night stay. Neither of which happened. On return the used glasses had not been replaced and other than the bed being remade there had been no effort to clean the room; the floor had still not been vacuumed. At this point we demanded to be moved to another room. That took two hours and we had to move ourselves. As if the quality of the room wasn't bad enough, we then went for breakfast where we found no cutlery or plates, the oatmeal had not been made, there were no yogurts or waffle mixture and no coffee. The eggs and other breakfast items had been out in warmers that had not been turned on so was cold and uneatable and the only breakfast available at 07:00 that morning was toast and pastries. Even the member of staff who had just arrived on duty felt it less than adequate. When we left the hotel there was no apology or refund for any of the stay and no Manager was available.
variety of breakfast options to choose from. Breakfast bar was restocked continuously, even near the end. Historic building, situated with 3-4 person max elevator. Limited walk-in shower space. Small tight room.
What could have been mediocre was excellent! The manger Tyrell was excellent! Pleasant, professional, and accommodating! My stay in San Antonio was due to some unpleasant/stressful circumstances but that was all made a lot better because of the service my mother and I received. And this great service came naturally from the all the staff! Even at 6:45 am the woman refilling the scramble eggs smiled and greeted me as we walked into the eating area! Check in was a breeze, Brenda was super friendly! And the valet was great too! THANK YOU GUYS! Customer service well done!
We were there for the SWestern Vet Conference. Glad we choose BW over the super expensive hotel in the area. The service was great as well as the location. We didn't need a rental because it's only a few blocks from RiverWalk.
I wish I could give zero star. I hate giving negative feedback but this hotel is making me do this. Please please don't fall for low price deal, that is just a trap. We were travelling from California and in between our strict business schedule we planned a day trip to San Antonio. We wanted to stay close to riverwalk and didn't want to spend too much therefore chose this hotel for $129/per night. The scheduled check in time was 3 pm. We reached at the hotel at 4:45 and guess what our room was not ready and the front desk lady has no idea when it would be ready. The front desk lady was super polite and nice but the hotel look, feel, and then this late check in totally turned is off. The elevators, reception lobby everything is super tiny, this hotel looks more like a remodeled motel rather than a hotel. I didn't see any staff on the ground level, no one to even offer water or complimentary drinks to people who are waiting for their rooms. Front desk also has only one lady who needs to handle check in's, calls and other guest related activities. The rooms are super tiny, bathroom floor is sticky and some pink liquid is over the floor and most of all wasted my 3 hours 45 minutes to get into a room. Ruined my trip
Nice, quaint hotel just within walking distance of Riverwalk. Smallish room with one queen bed was perfect for one, but would be pretty tight for two. Clean bathroom. Central heating and air was quiet and the room had no problem staying cool , whereas it was blisteringly hot outside.
The Best Western Historic hotel on Broadway is a hidden gem. The rooms are comfortable, easy walk to the River walk, museums and historic buildings. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The price per night is well worth the stay.
After arriving after a long flight, check in was quick. We requested a high floor which we got. Unfortunately when we got to the room the toilet had a broken flush, this should have been noticed when room was cleaned. I informed reception the about the problem, we were moved straight away with an apology. They were also helpful with directions. Yes the rooms are small but then we were out all day. Bed was comfortable, the shampoo and conditioner had been used previously. I did not use it so hopefully it was replaced for next guest. Breakfast was a good choice we had breakfast 3 days and each day the hot food was different. Tea bags ran out one morning. Location is great easy reach of the Riverwalk and the Alamo. If I could score 4.5 I would. Apart from the little problems I would recommend to stay here.
This is a great historic venue. It is totally remodeled, andis within walking distance to River Walk. The price us extremely reasonable. We will definitely stay here again. Save $5 by parking in the lot next door.
The location to downtown was perfection, everything was in walking distance. The staff was so pleasant and helpful with suggestions. Loved the pool for a early morning swim. The room was small but not a real problem. The bed was the best I ever slept in.I would go back everytime. I did not like the idea of having to pay to park, so we ubered to the hotel and got a rental delivered the day we drove to Corpus that worked out, as we walked the Alamo and river walk.
This hotel has tiny rooms, really impractical and the noise from the rooms on Broadway starts early with traffic. It's in a great location and breakfast was good. Welcome in arrival was poor and like we were inconveniencing their day!
This was a nice hotel. The single bedrooms are way to small. That was not noted on the website. Also they don't have a parking lot so you have to do valet. That as well is not noted on the site. It was an additional $30 each night. Not happy about that. No discount on that either.
Friendly, clean and perfect location to many attraction in downtown San Antonio, parking is overpriced, everything else is quite enjoyable Bar was closed due to renovations? Breakfast is all you can ask for and service was excellent.
Parking isn't free here. You either have to pay $30 plus tip for valet (literally the only option the hotel offers) or you have to pay $25 to park in the janky Alamo parking lot next door. The elevators are tiny and the breakfast offering is limited. Rooms are tint and the bed is a little hard. Best part of this hotel is the central location with ease of access to the riverwalk and other attractions.
Brenda at the front desk was great. It was in a good location maybe 2 blocks from the riverwalk and close to everything. The man and woman in the restaurant were great. I am terrible with names. I talked to them every morning.
Hotel was great! Hospitable staff, spacious rooms, and plenty of outlets to charge all electronics. Location is close to the Riverwalk and if you need, Uber rates were not bad. Speedy valet was great too! Ryan & Aldo made it painless when we were leaving.
Arrived really early today and we just expected to store our bags and check-in later, after having coffee at the hotel we asked what would be the earliest we could check-in and the receptionist said a room was ready so we were able to get in straight away staff are all very pleasent happy to chat very friendly room is nice clean with pleasent enough views of Travis park and old church 7 min walk from greyhound bus station which was great for us as we arrived at 06.15am felt safe walking from station to hotel.Free tea coffee facilities in downstairs area beside breakfast room also tea coffee making in room and a fridge. Breakfast is really good loads of choice hot and cold would definitely recommend this hotel so close to Alamo and everything else in San Antonio
Nice Hotel close to Downtown and most attractions...Good free Breakfast, easy check in and check out...Only problem is the valet parking...too far away and took too long to retrieve cars...40 minutes is not good..
Great location but extremely small rooms and average breakfast. Situated close to the Alamo, river walk and all the restaurants. Maybe book a better room than the standard as it may be bigger. Check in was efficient and staff were friendly and helpful.
I only stayed one night and checked-in late afternoon. The only hotel staff which I had an encounter with was the desk clerk. However, she was extremely polite and made the check-in process quick and easy. I had no issues with the condition of the room. Everything was clean and all amenities that were provided worked well. The only issue I had, which is not really the hotel's fault, was the location of the room. The room (126) was located on the ground floor, directly next to the street. This made for a very noisy stay. You could hear every car passing by and every tourist as they walked by the window. I attempted to take a quick nap before going out with friends, but was unsuccessful in doing so because of all the noise. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers due to its close proximity to the Riverwalk, but stay away from room 126!!
Stayed at this hotel for one night in early August 2019. The location is about three blocks from the Alamo, on the northeast side of the downtown/historic core of San Antonio. One negative about this location is that it is only a block away from the homeless encampment at Travis Park, so you will encounter many disadvantaged adult males in the immediate area. The second and biggest disadvantage of this location is that there is no self parking. Valet is available at $30.00 per night. However, you are close enough to the River Walk attractions and restaurants that walking will be no problem except in the hottest months. All the staff I encountered at this hotel were friendly and professional. The lobby and breakfast area were very clean and very nicely decorated. The room was large and nice, and the bed was really comfortable. The bathroom had one of the largest showers I've seen in a hotel. Breakfast in the morning was fine and very typical of Best Western. The only "problem" I encountered was not the fault of the hotel, but of the valet service they use. Both times I needed my car, it took them close to 25/30 minutes to retrieve it. (The valets themselves were very nice, and I know it is not their fault if they are understaffed. Please remember to tip your valet!) Also, street noise from Broadway can be a problem. Did not bother me personally, but beware.
The hotel is located conveniently to the Riverwalk and Alamo. The rooms are very small but clean and well maintained. The parking is valet but you don't really know that ahead of time since there are parking lots next to the hotel that are cheaper than the hotel's charges. The pool was good even though it was small also. Our stay was good and it was a nice mini vacation.
Interesting stay. Interesting front desk staff. Shout out to Brenda K for excellent check in service. All the staff was excellent at their job, very warm and friendly. Quaint little place built in 1912 as a travelers inn. 1 of the 3 original hotels built in San Antonio. Breakfast was ok. Wish they would include oatmeal on their menu. Housekeeping is excellent. We were in a king size bed room. I must warn you that these rooms are the size of your college dorm room. Think small, tiny dorm room. You have to realize back in 1912 travelers didn't have as much stuff as we travelers today have. If you do require more space or if you are claustrophobic, then you may want to check out the Best Western River Walk. Also, when you are calculating your nightly cost, remember if you are driving a car to figure in the $30 daily valet fee.
The hotel is at a great location. We loved the experience of staying in a historic building. Our room was clean and offered everything needed. I do recommend that if you are a light sleeper that you request a room away from the street. The breakfast was delicious and the staff makes you feel welcome. We will definitely be returning to this hotel our next trip to San Antonio.
45 minutes to check into hotel Front desk inappropriate music Staff discussing billing failures at front desk Safety and noise concerns of ground floor room on city street. Placed in handicap room No help finding alternate room or location
I found this hotel off Hotels.com while searching for places to stay near the San Antonio river walk. The reason I chose this hotel was because the pictures from the website matched almost identical to guest photos, and we definitely were not disappointed. This hotel was literally just a couple of minutes within walking distance which was awesome! For the price we paid to stay with all the amenities it included, especially breakfast, we didn't mind the couple of minutes to walk. When we checked in, the lady at the front desk was more than happy to help give us some direction on attractions near by and the must see's and must do's. She also gave us a quick little scoop about the hotel itself, hostel turned hotel that's been open for only two years. our room was great, the only issue we experienced was the air conditioning in the room. Every time that we would lower the temp in the room, a few minutes later it would change back to 83 degrees; we had it on the cool setting so we were confused as to why it was doing that. It wasn't unbearable so we didn't feel the need to alert the front desk at the time, but we did inform them at check-out. Another inconvenience we experienced was there was no self parking offered at the hotel, only valet. We found a couple of public parking lots within walking distance from the hotel, but for $10 for 12 hours, we should have just valeted for $25 for whatever is cost. All in all, we had a great time and the hotel was extremely satisfactory, I'm so glad I found this little hidden gem. We highly recommend downloading the Lime app and riding the scooters around San Antonio for sightseeing!!
Inexpensive and great proximity, but don't think "BW Premier" means it is a nice place (i.e. like a BW Plus). The room was smallish, clean, and comfortable. The neighborhood is on the edge or urban revitalization. The hotel front, lobby, and elevators are a little sketchy. Valet parking $18/day pretty much a must. Two blocks from Alamo and Riverwalk.
I arrived early, check-in is at 3pm and I did arrive around 12:40pm. The staff was very accommodating and I was able to check-in a little early. All staff was so wonderful and helpful! I've been traveling for 3 weeks and this was the absolute best stay that I've had so far. The rooms are very clean and cute. Breakfast was great!
We stayed here for 2 nights, the room was very comfortable if a touch on the small side (not an issue for me as we spend such a small amount of time in the room). Nice building, great central location with valet parking. The hotel has a lot more style than most Best Westerns, the reception and dining areas are far more pleasant to be in than some corporate hotels. The breakfast was better than other Best Westerns we had experienced and in a pleasant dining area. I am writing this review because I wanted to thank the lovely young man on reception, when my husband was sorting out the luggage I sat and listened to him deal with what must have been a difficult customer who was trying to change the bookings around (several times). He had a LOT of patience with the caller. This was the first time we had seen scooters for hire on the streets so wanted to have a go. I asked this same young man how to work the scooters outside and he couldn't have been more helpful, showing us on his own phone how to hire them through Uber. **** I hope the management give this man a bonus as he was an absolute star, patient, friendly and helpful, he was African American with long braided hair, I didn't remember his name sorry (my age, not that he wasn't memorable!). Even when I came in after a hot day outside and held my arms out to embrace the Air conditioning, the female receptionist did the same and joked with me. We had a lovely stay here and would recommend to anyone. Well done management on picking some great staff.
What a great hotel! It's a converted 1912 building with some original features and it's located within a couple blocks of the Alamo, Riverwalk, and other downtown attractions. The staff were great and knowledgeable.
Hotel is in a very good position in downtown San Antonio. the hotel has been just renovated. Our room was very small, breakfast poor, great staff. Very good for a short break in San Antonio to visit Alamo, the River Walk, etc
Took the wife for Memorial Day weekend, road trip from Houston. Location and price were major factors when I chose this hotel. Others were a bit closer but more expensive, and this one is within easy walking distance of major attractions. The extra cost of valet parking was offset by the excellent breakfast, which was so good that our lunchtime appetites and costs were minimal. Overall we were very happy with the hotel for the major reasons mentioned in other reviews. My only negative was the Best Western computer had forgotten my membership reward points number.
We booked by using the reviews on the website. Best Western Premier it sounded like a good program close to all the amenities we wanted to go see. Great staff great breakfast small rooms but then finding out that it built in 2012 we understood. The bed slept great! And again I believe it was Aaron that was in charge of breakfast one morning absolutely a wonderful person and a good host. We will stay here on my next trip to San Antonio!
We were so pleased with the convenience of our hotel to the Alamo, Riverwalk, downtown, and mall area for the excellent price we paid compared to hotels directly on Riverwalk. Our room was plenty spacious for 2 people. The staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and complimentary breakfast was very good.
Checking in, we were early because our son and daughter were graduating from UTSA and being I am active duty military I was not able to fly out the day before. So we were told by the staff that we could use the lobby bathroom to get ready even though we had a reservation. Room is terribly small, lighting is low in the room. Housekeeping was very poor service.
The room was very modern, the bed was comfortable and clean. The location was great about a 5 minute walk to the riverwalk. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were very friendly. The lobby smelled a bit musky but the rooms did not.
What a lovely place. Everyone was so kind and helpful. The young lady that was at valet was exceptional. The room was comfortable and well put together for a smaller space. It was an attractive style and very clean. The bed was super comfortable. The breakfast buffet was abundant and fresh. We will stay there each time we visit. We had a wonderful weekend stay and it was due to the great rest we where able to get.
Hotel was beautiful and the room was spacious. The pool is small and a little too hot. But was very clean and you could look out through the opening of the roof over the pool. Breakfast was great. There was enough selection for every one.
Nice hotel, staff was very friendly and helpful. Free breakfast included which was pretty good. Rooms were ok, not a lot of space to put clothes, but bed was comfortable and lots of room in the bathroom. Street got a bit noisy at night with a few loud people, but otherwise a good spot.
Check in-staff at front desk was very attentive, Close location to attractions / Riverwalk. Enjoyed the heated pool. Always feel like priority at Best Western.Loved the historical renovations (year 1912)
This is a wonderful, convenient, comfortable and accommodating place to stay in San Antonio. The rooms are a little small but clean, well appointed, comfortable, and more than doable. Walking distance to the Alamo, Tobin Center, and River Walk and most attractions. Hotel staff is friendly, caring, and most attentive. You actually feel cared for, never like a bother. Rooms facing Broadway can be a little busy at night. I highly recommend this hotel for its friendly, clean and convenient, comfortably, and welcoming atmosphere.
What a lovely boutique hotel! It is in a great location in a recently renovated 1912 building. I really wish that I could have spent more time in my room! The front desk, housekeeping & valet staff are fantastic! Highly recommended! Just call the hotel direct to make your reservation. You don't need to go through a third party!
Great location to downtown sites. Wonderful service, great rooms, also free breakfast. Very small elevators but that is ok. Very quite rooms, except outside noise. Below the hotel is a bar, and great restaurants nearby.
We were told that since we were Platinum members, we would be upgraded to a larger "corner" room. The room was so small we could hardly fit in it. There was a small window with a shade that would not work, leaving us to feel like we were in a dark cave. The sink had hot water, but the shower was lukewarm. The only parking for the hotel was valet parking for a fee of $27 daily. We were not told this in advance. If you're driving a rental car, having a third party drive your vehicle, is not covered under your rental agreement. Also, the parking garage was 2.5 blocks away, and it was not accessable to guests. The Riverwalk and Alamo is a walk through a marginal neighborhood. We assumed, since the Hotel had Riverwalk in its title, it was on the Riverwalk. The staff was friendly and the room was clean.
Very good location but rooms are small and beds are very tall so bring a stool if you can't climb! Good service and breakfast but valet parking should be outlined more clearly as their isn't any parking on site. Need to figure in parking when pricing the room.
Very big concern, coming in Saturday night we my associate they gave us a suite room with king bed. We we're at a conference and BW put us on the 4th floor. The concern was the elevator we down not once but every day, for four days Forced excersise for us on the stairway. Everyday. Also when we came in we thought we were getting free parking, but both of us changed $15 a day. We asked that we both came in together one of us get parking taken off the bill. Small parking area.
Small but clean rooms, decent breakfast, wonderful staff. Away from the hustle of the river walk, but close enough to walk. Don't be fooled by the lobby, the rooms are clean and comfortable. Pool is small. No sauna.
Loved it, its historic and really close to all the San Antonio attractions. Staff was super nice and accommodating. Great time here. Yes rooms are small but this is to be expected in a historic hotel. It was clean and rooms were nice. I recommend this as a great place to stay for your visit to San Antonio.
Rooms were quite small but very clean. This is to be expected in the Historic district. Elevators were also quite small but doable. One problem, bed was way too high to get into but they had a stool that we could use while we were there so it worked for us. Staff very friendly and good breakfast included in your stay. Easy to get to the Alamo and Riverwalk, just by walking there.
The service was great, and the staff was great. It was clean, outdated on look, but overall an ok hotel. The only problem was that the rooms were extremely small. It was like a coat closet. You had no room to walk, or to place your luggage anywhere. Luckily my husband and I aren't very large people, or we wouldn't have made it work. We literally would have changed hotels, but had a non refundable reservation. The bathroom and bedroom were basically the same size. We paid $200/nt for a king size bed in a closet. We stayed a Wednesday and Thursday, so that wasn't even weekend cost. And we heard them talking to another group saying that dbl beds was even more expensive. I can't even imagine what those rooms looked like either. The pictures on their site were not from that hotel. They had different premiere hotels pics on a wall. We recognized one from their site saying it was their hotel. The location was ok, but still had to walk several blocks to get to the main San Antonio attractions. We could have stayed on the riverwalk itself, for the price we paid, and prob gotten a bigger room. It was very disappointing to get such a small room for a $200/nt stay. Afterwards, we stayed in Austin right downtown during SXSW convention, weekend, and a holiday, and only spent $100/nt. Just sad to see the difference in hotels and prices for what you got. Would not stay there again.
Yes, this is a historic hotel, recently renovated, and the rooms and elevators are rather small by modern standards. But who goes to a place like San Antonio to sit in their room? The hotel was clean, bright, and comfortable. The valet parking was super easy, the complimentary hot breakfast was superb, and the staff had that wonderful balance between genuine warmth and efficient professionalism (especially Brenda K.!). And of course, perfect location! We easily walked to the Alamo, River Walk, and Tower of Americas. If we ever return to the city, we will definitely stay here again. And unless room size matters to you, I recommend it unreservedly.
The Best Western Premiere Historic Traveler's Hotel is our go to place in San Antonio. We love the convenience to the Riverwalk without all the commotion and congestion of the area. It's within walking distance of many great sights and restaurants that are off the beaten path. We enjoy the atmosphere of a smaller less "commercial" hotel. They serve very adequate breakfast in a nice coffee shop atmosphere. The staff is very nice and they al work to make your stay a great one. We did have one concern this last visit with the company that they contract with for valet car service. They give you a 4 digit code to text the valet when you want your car. We found this a rather inadequate system in that there is no other form of validating which car is being requested. Someone else staying at the hotel had texted for their car, giving the incorrect code and the valet retrieved OUR car instead. I had been out shopping and was returning to the hotel when I noticed our car parked in front of the building. I asked why the car was there as we had not requested it to be brought to us. The valet explained someone must have texted the wrong code. It was obviously not the valet's fault as she had no way to determine if the car matched the person requesting it. I would suggest they also ask for the party to text the plate number from the car as well. This would lessen the risk of getting the wrong car. All that aside, it's a great place to stay.
It was a fun time in San Antonio was so the Alamo, the River Walk, Tower of the Americas, lots of fabulous restaurants and lots of other things! Walking along the River Walk was so much fun and reciting to see it all for miles on end1
Most rooms were very small. Just enough room to move around the bed and no room for luggage. Even the larger room was just 16 sq. ft. larger then the smaller rooms. The rooms were newly renovated and nicely done. Clean and everything worked.
Rooms are small but they were perfect for my husband and I. Loved the location of being two blocks away from everything! We parked the car and were able to walk everywhere. It was worth the price we paid!
Great price for the Christmas season. Easy access. Walking distance to the river walk and Alamo. Valet parking available for like $25.00 for your entire stay. Continental available every morning and it is fabulous. You every need in met with a warm smile. The hotel is actually an old hospital converted to very small suites. Only bed, closet, desk and chair, refrig and shelving in our room, but cozy Check in staff amazingly helpful in every way. Always a warm greeting smile. Very art deco in decore. Really enjoyed the holidays with them.
Super friendly staff throughout. Good location to activities along Riverwalk and Alamo. Very quaint with decor along the lines of historic Texas. Super clean rooms and good valet service. An excellent value
We have stayed at several historic hotels in San Antonio. This hotel is in a great location and the staff is very friendly. Hotel was remodeled with detail to preserving the history. We would have no problem staying here again.
Above and exceptional customer service from staff members. This Hotel is place with lots of convenient options to the downtown visitor areas, within walking distance to restaurants, Centers, even the Greyhound Bus station. Rooms were small but very comfortable with the perfect amenities and technology options.
It's in a Good location (2 blocks from Alamo & river walk) but it's outdated & tiny, tiny, tiny rooms! For the price, I'm willing to overlook this fact. Breakfast was good. We valled the car as parking was also an issue.
Choose this Best Western for its location near the Alamo and Riverwalk. Took advantage of valet parking ($27/day) which allows you to take the car in and out of the lot for no additional charges. Never needed to take car out of the lot for our 2 day stay as we walked everywhere. Fantastic location! Room was small but nicely appointed with microwave, refrigerator, keurig coffee maker, and large screen tv. Mattress was very comfortable. Free breakfast includes coffee, tea, eggs, cereal, yougurt, granola, sausage, waffles and a variety of rolls and bread. Front desk staff very helpful.
My family was in town for a bowl game at the Alamo Dome. We wanted to stay near the River Walk, without breaking the bank on two rooms for the whole family. Best Western Premier Historic Travelers Hotel Alamo Riverwalk was a great choice. Close enough to everything so that you can walk, friendly staff, decent breakfast. The rooms are not very big, but beds are comfortable.
The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful - truly had my best interests and need needs in mind. The rates were also very affordable for an historic building. Just minutes from Riverwalk and Alamo is a bonus.
Nothing bad to say about this hotel! Brenda was great; she made us feel very welcome and she gave us some great recommendations. The valet service makes the parking situation very easy. The location is perfect; just a short walking distance from all the landmarks. The room is not very big but it had everything we needed. Very comfortable bed and everything is very clean. We also really liked the complimentary breakfast, although we would have liked to have some tortillas to make tacos! We didn't get the chance to use the pool but it looked awesome with no roof over it!
This is the second time I have stayed here. The breakfast is great, the location to the Riverwalk is convenient, the value for the dollar is best in the area. The gym and pool are a plus. The staff is very professional.
The hotel was located near the Alamo. The River Walk wasn't very far plus other attractions. The breakfast offered both hot and cold items. I especially liked the fresh pineapple and blueberries that were in the refrigerator at breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great overall experience. The location and s great, the check in at midnight was exceptionally fast, great comfort at room, great breakfast . Everything at walking distance. Interiors of the room are excellent
Beware : Customer service service can be poor. I'll explain : I had booked a room for 3 days but was not able to arrive on the first day as my plane was stuck in Chicago due to poor weather. I sent a message to best western customer service and the hotel management asking if it was possible to refund the first night. I arrived the next day and was told at the reception that my first night would be refunded but that the entire booking had been canceled as well (and would be refunded entirely). I had to book once again a room at the reception (and hence spend additional money since the refund takes some time). I thought it was ok since my first night would be refunded as well. I got a message a few days after stating from the global best western customer service informing me that the hotel had denied to refund the first night. I do not mind that my first night was not refunded as the hotel is not responsible for my plane delay. I do mind when I am being lied by the staff at the reception to and when a mistake is done on top of that (full booking canceled with money blocked for some time before a refund is made).
Stayed in hotel for 3 nights ...arrived by Uber which was cheapest transport ... friendly welcome and speedy checkin. ..room ready .. reasonable size ... everything you need including microwave and room safe... pillows were fuller than I am used to but the spare one in wardrobe was spot on ... breakfast included as is coffee and hot water flasks in bar area throughout day...breakfast hot and cold was ok as was evening meal I had on first night ... handy for main places of interests ... Thai cafes in next block and then vast array of choices, if a little pricier, along the river walk. .. felt safe altho some of the bars had dingy frontage (maybe that's a style!) With hindsight, as I didn't intend traveling much out of city area, maybe 2nts might have been long enough
A comfortable and well located hotel that is convenient to transport, the Alamo and 5he River Walk. Clean, tidy property with a good breakfast. The only issue is noise. Walls are very thin and you can hear people in adjoining rooms. However, hallway noise is worse. Any conversation by people walking past your room wakes you up. A solid 4 stars if not for the noise.
Great service and newly remodeled hotel. I was impressed with the decorations being that it's a historic location.I was greeted the moment I stepped in to the hotel and the check in was quick after I had just traveled for 4 hours.
Great experience. I went by myself and was given a studio like room. Bed, shower, and tv were all I needed. Very well kept and clean. Hotel is walking distance to a lot of attractions. Rebecca at the front desk was very generous and informative on places to eat. All around a great hotel for a solo traveler.
We wanted to try something different this time. Close to the Alamo and most venues. The hotel was above average but parking was the downfall. $25. A day and not onsite so you can only access your car from valet. Hotel staff tried to say you will pay the same or more at any hotel designated Alamo/river walk.
Loved the location, rooms were beautiful even tho the single bed room felt tiny. Just what we needed. Rooms were clean, had everything we needed. Checkin was fast and easy. Definitely recommend. Nice view
Great location to nearby attractions. Hotel was full due to holiday, so breakfast foods were limited and even ran out of. Morning of check out, New Year day, valet service not available due to staff not showing up...had to go get our vehicle. There should have been compensation for lack of service on hotel's part...deduct a portion of valet charges from final bill. Otherwise, no other major complaints.
Four of us stayed here for two nights just before Christmas and we really enjoyed the place!! Nice rooms, soft comfortable beds. Great hot breakfasts in the mornings.Staff was really nice!! Great location and just a few blocks from the Alamo and other attractions. We arrived by plane and took the Via Bus number 5 from the airport and it only cost $1.30 cents each. Great bargain!! We got off at Pecan St. and walked three blocks east to the Hotel. I would highly recommend staying here as I don't think you'll be disappointed!!
The service is good the rooms are small unless you request the largest room available and then they'll give you one of those don't stay on the 7th floor if you have much baggage because once you get there the elevator ends and you have to climb stairs with your bags the breakfast was okay however a little disappointing because they decided that everybody will eat scrambled sausage potatoes and peppers and they didn't offer just meet all by itself they did how offer eggs all by themselves. Normally in a premier location you expect a little better food selection and quality but overall it's a good hotel
Booked online through Expedia 4 months ago, arrived today (from Australia) and was told that they cancelled my booking an hour before we arrived and gave it to someone else willing to pay 3x as much for the room, then advised that every other room was booked out so can't help. Gave no assistance in booking anywhere else, or any compensation. Due to how busy SA is we were forced to spend 4x as much booking the Hyatt (who were equally as disgusted at how Best Western handled this).
It is truly rare to find an amazingly talented, fun, and diverse team working so well together to make the guests feel excited about all the great possibilities waiting right around the corner from this marvelous value of a hotel. The rooms were immaculate and the free breakfast was quite tasty. We had a flawless view of the park and cathedral from our room. Loved it!
Checked in pretty late and was greeted immediately. I was so tired I felt I was a little rude but staff was quick and efficient. Was in town to surprise my mother who did not know I was coming home so early from deployment. Rolled in the rest of my clothes the next morning and was thanked for my service by Joseph. Such a nice little touch of appreciation. I requested extra linens for my room and Joseph delivered them to me and thanked me for my service again. I asked him for his name and noticed he was a manager. Literally made my visit very heartwarming and I felt very appreciated. I wasn't too excited about the location at first but with such a nice staff and caring managers will definitely make me come back again. Thank you
Our room was very nice and spacious, breakfast was great. Location of the hotel was conveniently located downtown and very close to the riverwalk. The beds were a great experience If I chose to stay in S.A. again I will defiantly choose to stay here again. Only thing I didn't like was the parking.
This hotel was a good choice for our group. My only downfall is the noise level from the outside while sleeping on the first floor rooms. Lots of noise comes through the windows. The first floor shares a hall with another room and the room next to us was loud while coming and going through the doors.
We ran into Don outside! He was so friendly & talkative! Turns out him and I are from the same areas in TX, you never know who you will run into in this area! I love this vacation/honeymoon and we will be back!!!
My first room was small, but I later got a bigger room. The location is in the heart of town. The receptionists were kind and polite, especially, Tyrell. The breakfast was good, and the waitress at breakfast, Shantell, was exceptionally hospitable and serviceable.
This room was so small it actually triggered my claustrophobia. The bed was incredibly high (my 6' 2” husband couldn't touch the floor when sitting on the bed!). With my mobility problems on one side it was extremely difficult to get onto the bed due to its height. The room was very clean, the staff was very friendly, & the breakfast was pretty good. Other than that we did not enjoy our stay at this hotel.
Stayed for 2 nights with a friend on a recent holiday Location is great and just around the corner from the Alamo and River Centre and close to all necessary central amenities. Staff were very friendly and helpful (the best hotel staff on our trip) Rooms were quite small but had all necessary amenities and were modern and clean. There was a good selection at breakfast and although it was busy the food was replenished and tables cleaned quickly etc. Would highly recommend to others visiting San Antonio and would stay again if visiting San Antonio.
Room was a little small but packed with amenities! The upper floor was quiet and felt safe. The windows has darkening shades. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Each room had temperature controls and air purifying. The bathroom was fully stocked and the towels were big and fluffy. The front desk staff was great and very helpful. Parking was expensive throughout the city, but valet was nice and efficient. The one working elevator was small, but quick. Breakfast was very well set up with staff ready to serve and clean up, no paper plates and plastic forks here!
I stayed at this best Western for two nights in November and I was extremely pleased with the hotel. When I first arrived , I wasn't sure if the hotel was going to meet my standards , but I was greeted by a very friendly woman named Brenda who was very helpful. The room is small but cozy and I was surprised to find that the bed was one of the best I've ever slept in! Honestly! And I travel a lot. The morning breakfast included very tasty oatmeal , the cost of the room was extremely reasonable- everyone is friendly and accommodating and I would definitely stay here again! Location is great - a few blocks north of the Alamo! in addition they have a great bar area that serves cheeseburgers and bar food. There is no on street parking so cars are valet parked. Overall, a great value and a wonderful hotel to get a good nights sleep!
This hotel was everything we expected. After reading reviews we new to expect small rooms and elevators and they are both small but for us it was fine. We found for two us us that the rooms were perfect. The beds were comfy and the rooms were clean. The hotel is nicely maintained. I had also read on the reviews of complaints about the valet service being slow. We had absolutely no issues with this. The valet service and all service we were given here was great. The hotel is literally in walking distance of everything in the downtown area. The Alamo and Riverwalk are just two blocks away. I think that people need to just do the research on the hotel and know what to expect and make sure it works for you because the rooms are on the small side. We would definitely stay here again!!
Great for a business trip, good location with easy access to many areas, clean neighborhood and clean hotel, Very small rooms so good for couple maximum or one person.cooperative helpful team in the reception and in the restaurant.
My wife and I stayed here for two nights. The newly renovated rooms are really nice. The beds and pillows were perfect. Fast check in and check out. Valet parking only at $21 per day. Almost all hotels downtown charge for parking. This hotel is a short walk to the Riverwalk and Alamo. Lots of bars and restaurants in the area. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel and the free breakfast is very good. Be aware like all downtown hotels you will experience a little traffic noise in the daytime. I will definitely return.
The Best Western Premier Historic Travelers Hotel located in the Alamo/Riverwalk area of downtown San Antonio offered great value, a good location, great breakfast and service for our four day stay. The best word to describe the hotel is "charming". It is in an older building and the guest rooms are small, but you don't travel to San Antonio to sit in a hotel. The most important feature to any hotel room is the comfort of the bed. The bed in the room was very comfortable and the breakfast buffet got our day off fo a good start. I appreciate value when taking a trip and feel the value I received from the BW Premier Hotel was excellent due to its service, location and breakfast!
I made a complaint & requested someone contact me & no one has. We stayed in San Antonio Texas near Riverwalk on Oct. 22 our room was absolutely filthy. There was hair all over the bathroom floor & inside shower, it seemed only the bed was made. We went down & told the front desk we were going out & requested the room be cleaned. We came back very late it had been raining, we had walked a lot & my wife was very tired & in a lot of pain because of her disability. The room was not cleaned but we were tired so just went to bed. Around 3:00 am there was so much noise it seemed as though a party was going on with a lot of people yelling. First thing in the morning I went downstairs & spoke to the person that said they were in charge about the room & the noise. After they shrugged they're shoulders I decided to check out. It was my wife's birthday I went upstairs she opened a gift & card I got her & one from my mom with $100.00 in it. We packed up & left to another hotel. My wife remembered she left her card with $100.00 on the table no more then 30 minutes after we left, I called them & told them & they said they'd call me back. After I didn't get a call back I called them again & they said they'd have to call me back again & never did. I knew then it was a waste of time. I requested a refund by email & Roger Flores the general manager asked us to give them another opportunity. I sent a second email & he NEVER addressed my request for refund or the birthday card w/ $100.00. Roger Flores never answered my second email or addressed my request. Do yourself a favor & don't stay at this hotel. Make sure you don't forget anything behind because you'll never even get a call back even when you call less then 30 minutes after leaving the hotel. Roger Flores needs to be retrained as a general manager. This is coming from a manager in the hospitality business for 25 plus years.
Bed bug bites* Initially, I thought that the place was nice by looking at the pictures. The interior was quite dirty. The whole hotel needs a good wipe down and mopping. My room had lots of Elmo red hair long hair of a person that must have stayed before me or worked there. The shower was also dirty. Also, I got these bites all over my body during my stay here. They appeared after the first night of staying here. They have a classic bed bug bite presentation. I even got them on my side where clothing would have covered it when I was outside.
Excelent location, walking distance to all attractions, very friendly staff , we enjoyed the stay in this hotel, we think the price/ value was awesome , also very safe to walk to the best places around town, close to the restaurants and the river walk.
First thing, it's clean. The bathrooms are newer and nicely done. The breakfast bar brings a strong game. Something different every day with meat, eggs, potatoes also all the normal food you'd find at a free breakfast. The pool is small, but nice. It's indoors but has on open roof! The staff here was the nicest, most accommodating that I've ever experienced at a hotel. The location is great. A tad off the main drag but so very close. A few blocks to the main attractions of the Alamo and river walk. Parking for a mere $5 all day is found a block to the north by the art supply store. Between 3rd and 4th.
We really enjoyed our 3 day stay in San Antonio and that is because the hotel was so comfortable and quiet and made getting out and about so easy. Breakfast every day was enjoyable, especially the hot choices and cook your own texas shaped waffles. Our room 709 had a lovely big shower and extremely comfortable bed and had more space than i'd imagined from the reviews, however we are from the UK! I loved watching the sunset from our room. The only time we had to wait for the valet to bring the car was when we checked out . Being less than 5 mins from the Alamo and less than 10 from the Riverwalk was ideal.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Staff was friendly, room was small, however, nice. Breakfast in the morning was nice. Noise at night was the only negative. Check in and check out was friendly, helpful and quick. Valet was nice and efficient. We were able to walk to restaurants and to Riverwalk which was nice. This is an older hotel in an urban environment so be prepared to hear the sounds of the city.
Outside noise was profound and kept us awake. The coffee maker needed filters to keep coffee grounds out of the cups and the coffee itself was awful. There was no tub, but the shower was adequate. The AC was way too cool at first.
This hotel has a lot to offer location cleanliness and very friendly staff. Hotel is about a 7 minute walk to the river walk or the Alamo. The hotel room was small but enough for 2 adults. Room was neat clean and tidy and the bed was SUPER comfortable! Breakfast was included and was good, plenty of seating as well. Only issue was the valet, which you have to do if you stay here, was kinda slow. We could look past that considering that everything else was excellent.
Nice hotel in old building. Small rooms, but big enough and with good bathroom. Clean. We let the valet park the car, and never used it the 3 days we were there, walking distance to Alamo and riverwalk. Friendly staff, reasonable breakfast included. Restaurant for diner not impressive, but there is enough choice in the neighboorhood, so no problem for us. Would definitly stay again.
After the welcoming it went downhill. Breakfast was terrible. Food barely warm, IF there was any. Constantly ran out. 2 or 3 attendants did not make a difference. Housekeeping did not vacuum at least 3 out of 5 days. Did nit wash/replace glasses and cups twice. Ran out pf in room coffee!! Management did not care. Convenient location to Alamo and Riverwalk. Probably will not come back. Oh, and valet car service was NOT a problem.
This hotel was easy to get to with public transport from the airport (bus 5 straight into town then a 6-7min walk - use google maps). Reception staff polite and helpful and the room was quite comfortable. I was a solo traveller but the King bed room I was in seemed comfortable enough for a couple with decent space for a suitcase each. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. Can get busy in there in the mornings I wasn't feeling the best one night so wanted something light for dinner and was pleasantly surprised with the Caesar salad from the bar/restaurant in the lobby (same place as breakfast) which was tasty, reasonably priced and a good size!
The location was good, only a few minutes to the Riverwalk, and the beds were comfy with nice bedroom decor, but we were mostly disappointed. The lady at Valet wouldn't take our keys until we had a room number, haven't ever experienced this before. It would also mean you would need to have a room number even if you were too early for check-in. Breakfast was atrocious! We arrived with about half an hour of breakfast time left, which we assumed would be plenty. However there was nothing left! One bagel, no jam or butter. No bread or milk for cereal. There weren't even any knives or forks. We asked someone but he said 'I think they're washing some now'... So people were rummaging under the table to get out packs of plastic cutlery from a box. We didn't bother getting up for it the next morning! The pool is very small, smaller than the pictures show. With a lot of competition in the area at a similar price, I would probably choose somewhere different next time. San Antonio is a wonderful city, we would love to return.
1.valet is incredibly expensive for the service you get. 30 minute wait for your car is insane. 2. Smallest elevator I've ever seen. And only one works. 45 minute wait to move floors because only 4-6 people can fit at a time.3. Noise. Outside, inside, everywhere.4. Beds are hard as rocks and the linens feel like sandpaper. I literally got rug burn. 5. After moving rooms for the second non refundable night, it rained; the windows started leaking and water began pouring from the ceiling. 6. Dirty linen and garbage bins lined the hallway to our room and in front of the elevator. The staff is very nice and helpful but I know they have little control. Every guest we talked to had a complaint, so I know they have their hands full. The upgrades and nice color scheme are merely make up on a pig at this point. Had we not paid for everything up front we absolutely would not have stayed the second night. Our anniversary weekend would have been much more enjoyable had we not decided on this “money pit”-esque hotel and got some real sleep to enjoy our trip.
The hotel is close to all major landmarks (although on a side street with nothing more than a Stetson shop) and it's entirely renovated. My room was new, clean and comfortable. It was small but I didn't really care because I was out all day so all I really needed was a nice bathroom and a comfortable bed for when I got back. I got both at a reasonable price. Breakfast was also good and the Texas-shaped waffle maker was definitely fun to use! My colleagues staying at a much fancier hotel on the Riverwalk had to pay extra for the Wi-Fi. Mine was free and working very well. All in all a very pleasant experience.
The hotel was clean staff was great food was good valet excellent price was ok rooms were small couldn't open windows however the breakfast timeshare good lots of variety the kitchen is awesome overall I reccomend
Ok hotel with good service. Problems with our room were rectified immediately upon notifying reception. The hotel is OK but there are so many hotels in the area to choose from and we probably would have chosen differently had we visited the area before. It' the furthest hotel away from the main area (although still very close) however the road it is situated on is pretty rough. Just one block over and we wouldn't have seen this side of San Antonio (which would have been a good thing). We chose this hotel over the others due to the reviews and the price but would have happily paid more to stay elsewhere purely on the location. Basic hotel, friendly staff but for us, the area didn't feel safe.
The Best Western Historic Travelers Hotel is a very comfortable place to stay. We stayed there for 3 nights on vacation. It is within walking distance of the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and night life. The hotel is very nice although the room we stayed in (with a king bed) was rather small. We were hardly there anyway. Comfortable bed and very clean. The decor was cool and relaxing. The daily breakfast was very good and abundant. Staff was courteous and friendly, We had one relatively minor issue that was dealt with in a quick and professional manner. Good value for the money. We recommend this hotel for your stay in San Antonio.
Low cost hotel, very good value. King bed, soft pillows, thick towels, cheerful decor, good breakfast. Spent 1 night here to see San Antonio. Friendly check in staff. Had coffe, tea and cookies late in the evening.
Parked checked in and car never left lot, so convenient to all downtown attractionsGreat BreakfastClean comfortable roomsWill be coming back to same location over and overParking next to Hotel, walking distance to very thing
Room was clean and the best was exceptionally comfortable. Hotel was in good repair with a simple, yet tasteful decor. The price was reasonable. The morning buffet was generous and quite good. The staff was polite, helpful and knowledgeable. And, the hotel was conveniently located putting the majority of attractions within walking distance.
Beautifully refurbished older hotelb, done only a year ago. It's like brand new. Clean and comfortable thought the hotel. The bed was wonderful and I have back trouble. The rooms are not large but very sufficient. We didn't feel crowded in anyway. Fresh fruit in the lobby water, what a plus. Every morning a different menu. A real hot breakfast. Delicious! The dinning area is also tastefully done. Many different places to sit and plenty of seating. The people staying there were a nice sort of people as well.
Very clean. Small room but the bed is comfortable. Elevator is a little scary. We got stuck between levels and other guests said it was happening to them. Staff wasn't to helpful or friendly when it came to the fact that we were delayed and stuck in an airport for 30 hours. We missed our full first night and didn't make it in until about 1 AM the second night.
Booked this hotel same day for a last minute mini vacation from Houston with the family. It's within a short trek to the Riverwalk, hotels and The Alamo/ so the location is good. The price was great compared to other hotels I looked at. I always go to Trip Advisor for the reviews and expected a small room. It was small but ok for our family of four. There was not enough towels supplied for even two grown adults which was annoying because when we booked, they knew there was four people staying in our room. We had to share towels which we don't typically do at home. The breakfast buffet was good and FREE which was the main reason that I booked here. They have Texas shaped waffles which is always a fun hit with my family. I just wish they had someone running the waffles instead of self serve bc inconsiderate people monopolize the waffle irons for long periods of time making themselves a stack. Not cool and caused harsh words that we witnessed between families. We didn't spend much time in the room so it was ok. The main thing was that our room was not clean. We found left over food from previous people. Our beds had hair in it. I'm the only female in our family and my hair is brown. This hair was long and blonde so I know sheets and comforters were not washed. I alerted the front desk on Check in day and nothing was done. Nothing. When we checked out two days later, I once again mentioned it. The front desk man said that he would have housekeeping clean it well. That does nothing for MY stay in which we stayed in a filthy room. Our room was located very oddly through a backdoor, first floor. So throughout the night, we heard the door slamming and carts being rolled through the small hallway where only our room and one other room was located. It was located street level and very very noisy outside of our window. We decided to valet because we assumed it was going to be the easiest and most convenient for us. Wrong. It cost us 20/day plus tax to wait a very long time. Most days it appeared that they had one person working the valet. We watched one night that the valet lady had to run BLOCKS to get our truck in 100 degree weather. Nothing on her- she was friendly and as fast as she could be. I don't think it's right to have her or anyone run that distance. Get her some kind of scooter or something. I felt so bad for the valet service here. Other people were complaining so so much. There's no complaining when you see the route these people are taking. Front desk check in took a very long time as well. This is a very old building that they made to look nice inside. Our room lighting was horrible. Ladies, for your make up it was nearly impossible. I don't know what kind of lighting they use but it gave a blue hue. This hotel is good price and location but I wouldn't stay here again.
I would definitely book at this hotel again. I chose the larger queen room and it was a great size. Other than a suite, this is the largest hotel room I have stayed in. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was great. All employees were friendly.
Poorly managed, poorly staffed, staff did not respond to request to move to another room or repair the A/C. Assistant manager got involved only after I said I was checking out and offered another room, which was not the same size and had a strong odor of disinfectant, and then offered to call someone to fix the A/C. Too little too late. We left.
Old, but beautiful decor. Small but pleasant rooms. One bedroom is the size of a dorm room or closet. Shower only (no bath tub). Pool is small, and must walk through lobby to get there, (located behind front desk). Elevator issue, it got stuck, and was told it's been having problems, (but won't put out of order sign). However, the location is perfect, 2 blocks from river walk, and good breakfast. I liked their coffee machines and refrigerators in room. Genuine customer service, however smelled like weed one time when using stairway.... which stairway is scary and oddly located/ difficult to navigate because it's an old building.
My family and I truly enjoyed our stay at your hotel. Your complimentary full hot breakfast was delicious. Thank you Amanda and Jonathan for being professional and providing outstanding hospitality! We were completely satisfied with our stay!
Unassuming little gem of a place. Outside older building, inside modern and colorful! Clean, breakfast bar was excellent! Waffles in the shape of Texas, linens napkins and real cutlery a classy touch, nice eating area- I just loved it. This will be my go to place when I visit San Antonio,Tx
Stayed here for 5 nights recently and was quite happy our choice of hotel. Location was good, close to The Alamo and Hop on Hop off bus plus a short walk to the River Walk. Room not big but comfortable. Bathroom was a great size with great shower. The bed was amazing so comfortable. Front desk staff so helpful from printing off some documents I needed to sign and email back to Australia to showing us where to catch public transport and everything in between. Housekeeping staff lovely. Pool was small but lovely to use to cool off on the hot humid days. Buffet breakfast ok but here in America we find the breakfasts not great across the board. Would stay here again.
This hotel is great if you are visiting the Alamo or the convention center. It is easily within walking distance of both. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well. The staff is helpful if you have need of anything and the room are quite clean. The breakfast is also well done. I was disappointed at how small the room was and that parking was $21/day. The room is a basic hotel room and I felt as if the $100/night cost was a somewhat overpriced. Still I felt my overall experience was quite positive.
I arrived at the hotel for my first visit to San Antonio and had to wait for the valet for quite a while due to there being ONLY ONE valet working. Which was very inconvenient throughout our stay. My husband and I then decided after checking in to go the bar. Bartender greeted us, but after we asked for a drink menu she continued to say that she didn't even have most of the things listed on the drink menu.Your bar should always be fully stocked and restaurant as well. So that was disappointing. I was given a handicap room when I clearly booked a regular King room. The bathroom was dirty and had the nastiest looking shower. So instead of someone maybe saying to me that they didn't have a regular king available, they gave me whatever they had I'm assuming. Our room also did not have a good a/c unit, it didn't get colder than 71 degrees. After walking outside most of the day we certainly didn't enjoy that. I am not someone to complain too much because I too am in hospitality. But deceiving your guests is not okay, I would have felt better if the agents AND manager were more upfront about things going on in the hotel. But overall there wasn't any kind of service that was given to us that would make me consider staying at this hotel again. I actually wish I asked for a refund for my stay.
A wonderful hotel about 3 blocks from the Alamo and Riverwalk, staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and very well maintained, great bathroom and shower as well as a sort of wet bar, small refrigerator etc.
I stayed at this hotel for 1 night while on my american fly drive. We booked this hotel because we wanted to be near all the action as we were here for only 1 night. This hotel is only minutes from the action. Our room was amazing, very modern, clean and fresh. We didnt get car parking in with the room rate but we checked the local area for parking prices but it was only a few dollars more to valet park in the hotel. The breakfast was great also included in the room rate. The riverwalk/alamo was very close and the staff were great and knew the best places to visit.
This hotel is five star in my opinion. We loved this hotel! The room was small, but absolutely perfect. This hotel was our favorite hotel we stayed at while on a recent vacation. It is in a remodeled historic building, two blocks from the Alamo, which from there you can easily access the riverwalk area. Brenda who checked us in, is a ROCKSTAR! So polite, friendly and welcoming! Her smile radiates that she loves her job and the greeting guests to the San Antonio.
The young man that checked us in was all business and not overly helpful when I inquired about San Antonio. We proceeded to our king-bed room, which was very small. We had some clothes hanging space with about 8 hangers and two drawers about the size of bedside table drawers. The bathroom was also very small. What I would call a one person bath, with not a lot of vanity space. The toilet, shower, and sink are all in the same room. I could deal with all of that, but the bathroom was dirty! There was hair in the shower, on the shower floor, the shower walls, the shower slider track, and even on the ceiling! It was gross!!! Also, one of the shade pull chains was broken so we were unable to open and close that shade. There were only small lighting fixtures in the room so it was very dark when the shades were closed. We had to keep them closed a good deal of the time because our room faced west, and it gets hot in SATX. I think they must be short staffed because as far as I could tell the cleaning person only made the bed and picked-up/dropped off towels. The poor valet, outside company, ran his butt off because there was only one guy there. A typical wait for the valet was 20 minutes. They were very friendly and helpful, but must have to go a long way retrieve the cars. The hotel is close to the Riverwalk and Alamo, but next time I will chose a different hotel
Came into town with our son for a Trumpet Festival. And found this great Hotel close to the Riverwalk. Reasonably priced. Good breakfast. Friendly service. Particularly from Brenda. Thanks Best Western for a pleasant stay in San Antonio.
We have travelled a fair bit domestically and I would have to say this was by far the smallest room we have ever had. Granted, it is an older building, so that comes with the territory, but none the less. The hotel was quaint, featuring original tile designs in the lobby, yet updated. The guest room was nicely appointed. We appreciated the check-in goodie bag (water, chips, and fruit snacks), and the breakfast was on par for a hotel of this magnitude. The location was fair. We could tell this was on the edge of downtown, in an area that is trying to fit in with its touristy cousins just a few blocks over. That said, we were easily able to walk the 1.5-2 blocks and be at the Alamo, and in the thick of "tourist" county. It was actually kind of nice being a little offset, bc it made for less foot traffic at the door and less noise in the overnight hours. I would say the stand out feature was the staff. Tyrell was very pleasant upon check-in, and Amanda very helpful at check-out. The valet car service was a bit tough, as the 2 porters had to run approx 2-3 blocks in the Texas heat to fetch cars continually. (If you plan to use in/out service, be prepared to tip these guys well!) Waiting for our car took about 10 minutes, but calling down ahead of leaving would def save you time. We also appreciated the breakfast crew. While I did not catch their names, both the man and woman working on our Sunday morning were incredibly helpful. When the buffet line ran out of omelettes, the gentleman made us omelettes and brought them directly to our table for us. Not at all what we required, but that kind of service was very appreciated. We even were greeted by the (new to this property) maintenance manager. He chatted with us about the facility and like the others, made us feel like we were appreciated as guests at his hotel.
I will start this review by stating that I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and updated and modern feel for this property, the location was excellent and the lobby and room was very cute and clean. For the nightly rate and location this hotel is very much a steal for the price. The rooms are small and the bathroom is a decent size, our room was on the street and was noisy but we are heavy sleepers so it did not affect us. I do have to mention however that the staff could really benefit from some customer service training. Upon arrival there was no valet to greet us. We saw the empty valet stand and waited for about 5-10 minutes when no one came I went inside the lobby. No one there. I waited another 15 minutes ringing the bell every so often while my father sat in the car. The lobby was a ghost town. Finally a woman appeared and did not acknowledge me to which I asked her if she worked here. She stated that a man would be down to help that he was probably helping a guest upstairs. I went back outside to notify my dad and a valet attendant was walking up. He was very friendly and apologetic taking the keys and explaining that he was out parking a vehicle. We unloaded our luggage and walked back inside. The guest service manager appeared, looking visibly agitated. No greeting, no apology just broke right into the check-in process. I would highly recommend this gentlemen take a service animal training course as he was clueless and said some pretty offensive statements through this process. In all of my travel no front desk agent and especially no manager has ever acknowledged my service animal. Simply, is he a service animal has been asked which is fine and ADA approved. He went on to ask if I needed anything special, to which I was unsure what he meant and he stated, “you know sometimes service animals are for people with seizures.” I was unsure how to answer this or why it was even said without divulging my private medical condition. I stated no. He then wanted me to sign the form stating that if there was an animal on property that I would be charged a $250 fee. I told him I would not sign that as it does not apply. He took it upon himself to write his own addendum to which I hesitated to sign but did so as I was embarrassed. He still asked me to sign the top and I told him I signed his addendum why would I sign the top. He stated, “Incase we find out he's not a service animal we will be charging.” I am a well traveled traveler and a hotelier myself and to hear this was mortifying. Never in my years of traveling has someone made that statement to me. I signed as to not be made more embarrassed and this gentlemen handed over the keys. He did not direct us to the elevators, my dad had to ask where they were. He only stated the check out time. We were not made aware of any hotel amenities. It really upset me for the rest of the evening and was hard to enjoy our evening in San Antonio. I will say that the man, Michael working the overnight definitely made up for lack of service the prior evening and was a breath of fresh air for our early 4 am check out. He answered the phone very professionally and happy and on the way out was super friendly. I would definitely recommend taking him off the overnight so he can interact more with your guests. It was the first smile we saw from any hotel employee sadly.
Remodeled older hotel but clean, comfortable beds and room. Tastefully done and a great value. 3 blocks from Alamo, as Brenda said, turn left, left again then right and you're there. Near Riverwalk and River Center Mall. Great breakfast too. Hotel is good to give directions and call Taxi.
I can't speak enough about the location. The description on the hotel's web site says it all, but for those that don't do their research, the hotel is literally around the corner from The Alamo (if you're into that kind of touristy stuff) and a short walk to the River Walk area. Plus, right outside your door there are bars, restaurants and a nice, small park across the street (Travis Park) which I really enjoyed (and I'm a middle-aged hipster). Easy to get to all parts of San Antonio from this location, and Uber will pick you up right across the street from the hotel. I had a single room with a king-sized bed and the bed was extra-comfy, and the decor was cool and modern. Very hip hotel, indeed. The bathroom was super clean and completely modern, and there were no problems with any of the amenities whatsoever. There's even a pool in the hotel, and a great restaurant for morning eats. It feels part modern, part historic art-deco, but completely renovated and sleek inside while keeping its old-world charm. The staff were incredibly lively and friendly, always willing to help, and always smiling. A truly happy staff, and always willing to help. That says quite a bit. Damn nice place, says The Cake Guy! And I know cake and great hotels!
Friendliest staff I've ever experienced in my 41 years. This is sincere. They go above and beyond in making things go smoothly for you. I arrived early. They took my bags while I left to eat. I checked out early. They allowed me to keep my bags and vehicle there while I finished my conference. And did it all with a smile. Clean rooms. But small. That was fine with me because I was alone but if I'd had my kids, that could have been an issue Breakfast is good
Was a bit nervous about staying here with some of the reviews. However, I had a great stay here. I stayed in a king bedroom which had a wardrobe and two drawers, a desk and chair, fridge, microwave and coffee machine. More than enough room for me and the bathroom was huge. It was very quiet, location was great - no more than a 3/4 minute walk from The Alamo and other attractions. Breakfast was absolutely fine and bar had enough options if you wanted a drink. A real gem of a hotel.
The hotel staff we are all very friendly and courteous. The only real issue(s) with our stay was the valet service they used. The rate was pretty good at $20 a night for unlimited coming and going compared to all the lots that surrounded the hotel that averaged about $15 per entry/exit of the lot. The issue was that they were always very understaffed with wait times at up to 30 minutes around the 9-11 o'clock hours. The lot that they used was about 2 blocks away so i get that they have a bit to run but there was at most 2-3 workers at a time so it made it difficult to get to the various parks, such as Sea World and Schlitterbahn, in a timely manner. I suggest being ready to leave by 8:30 if you plan on being somewhere on time. Other than that this was a fantastic and very nice looking hotel. I had a slight issue with the WiFi on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge simply because the sign in page that opens in your web browser on your device refused to show up after the first time i signed in.
Stayed in the BW Historic Hotel during a business conference. Walked to the conference center - perhaps a half mile. Can go practically the whole way along the riverwalk if desired. Only about 3 blocks or so from the Alamo and other nearby attractions. Small room, but perfectly fine when in meetings all day. Decent hot breakfast. Attentive and pleasant staff. Would stay here again.
Great Military discounted rate! This made the value of the hotel very high. Was close to Alamo and Riverwalk. Love the charm of the hotel but we were on first floor and it was kind of noisy. Overall felt very comfortable and would return there. PSA: DO NOT park at adjacent Alamo Parking lot. It was a scam. Either street park or pay for valet.
all of your major items are within 10 min walk at most. The Alamo is with in a block and the buses your going to need are all right there. The staff here is very friendly. The rooms and pool are small but not so small it causes a problem. Breakfast was excellent. Staff from top to bottom are great people.
You can spend a hundred bucks more a night for the same quality and closeness to The Alamo. Great family owned business where you can see the owner helping with breakfast. A housekeepers' cadre of hospitality and genuine love of visitors. We were there on Travis' first day as a bartender he was so genial and the drinks and bar food are really a great value and delicious
This Best Western was comfortable and conveniently located to the Alamo with easy access to the Riverwalk. Our room had everything needed for our 3 night stay. While the room could have been larger, it was a
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel....The rooms are compacted and very comfortable. The staff is very accommodating. This hotel is within walking distance to the Alamo and the Riverwalk and many quint bars and restaurants along the way to the riverwalk....I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again.
Very small practical room. Great for one person two at most. Very clean. Nice staff. Very easy to walk to The Alamo and the river walk. Breakfast included. Parking is Valet only with an extra charge. Tiny swim pool very private. I would stay here again.
Staff was very friendly and hospitable. Our flight was delayed and held over in Dallas the night of our check-in. I called and they were very accommodating to hold our reservation until the next day. The accommodations were nice and clean. Location was a short pleasant walk to The Alamo and River-walk area and surrounding attractions. Overall very nice.
We stayed at this hotel during St. Patty's Day celebrating our anniversary and birthday. There was no one at the desk to check in five guests standing there on a busy night waiting to check in. We were told the front desk staff were cleaning rooms. What?? Why aren't there cleaning staff on during this yearly busy weekend in SA. Our room was EXTREMELY small and very close to the room next door with SEVERAL loud children all night and well into the next day. Additionally we were charged for two nights and stayed for only one night. When we tried to talk with the hotel about this, they couldn't even find a record that we stayed there. This hotel's management needs serious revamping. We would like our credit and will never stay here again.
I felt this hotel was great for its location to what I wanted to visit and I was able to walk to most everything. I am a member and received a gift bag with water and goodies in it. The staff was the nicest of any best western I have stayed at. Breakfast was great with cheese omelets, sausage, hash browns and more. The menu changes each day. My room was very nice and I found the hotel to be quiet and well decorated. Happy hour prices in the bar are very reasonable! I would stay here again and recommend it.
Enjoyed our stay very much at this hotel. Rooms were clean and have been updated nicely. Great location to center of the city. The breakfast was awesome and quite the variety. Staff at this hotel, especially Aaron (Breakfast area) and Brenda (front desk) are Rockstars!!!!
We arrived at 10am and registered. We were told the room would be ready at 3pm. We came backed to the hotel at 3pm and the room was not ready. Some people arrived at 3pm and were sent right away to their room. We got to the room around 3:40pm. At night when we pulled out the covers, there were blood stains on the sheet, not old brownish ones, fresh red stains like someone had just slept and bled and they didn't change sheets from previous guests. The second day we left the hotel at 10am and when we came back at 5pm the room was a mess, someone started making the beds but left half way before finishing it.
My birthday vacation during fiesta was to be amazing. I get to the hotel—-bad bad bad. It is run down, not updated with an arrogant man at the front desk. I voiced my concerns about the 3 rooms we had and asked to speak to the general manager to which he said no they will say the same thing. General manager didn't even come out. I just wanted to cancel and gladly pay more to move elsewhere. I am still here Day 3 and general manager has yet to talk to me. In the lobby now for 20 minutes. Our rooms were not serviced again and when I asked I felt as if I was an inconvenience. Don't stay here. Bad rooms, bad service, sad about my vacay. I will never stay here again.
The hotel was a great price for downtown San Antonio and within walking distance of the Alamo, Riverwalk, and the shops at the river center. This place was clean and the staff was great. The room was small, but I didn't stay in the room for anything except to sleep and shower. There was a lady, named Dana, on the cleaning crew that answered any and all questions. I was also being hassled by a guy downtown, and Dana ran him off. She was always smiling and enjoyed her job. The rest of the staff was friendly and helpful as well.
The hotel was very nice and the staff was very professional - front desk and cleaning personnel. This renovated hotel's decor is just fabulous! This is an annual trip for me now to see the Spurs play their last regular season home game. YES, I am a die-hard fan! For my 3rd year going to San Antonio, I decided to stay at this hotel. At first, I was a little skeptical because of some of the reviews.....glad I didn't listen! A lot of folks complained that the rooms and elevators were small but what do you expect for a HISTORIC building?! I had a king bed so the room was just right for me! The bed was comfy and the hotel is only a short 10 minute walk to the Alamo and 15 minute walk to the Riverwalk. I also was pleased that the room had a shower instead of a bathtub. The price was not bad at all for the 2 days I stayed; I would definitely stay again.
Awesome location and splendid hotel. Was a little loud at night outside hotel but that's to be expected in a downtown hotel. Seemed to be renovated and it was overall a good experience. No free parking was the downside.
I expected more based on other reviews. I saw reviews stating it was remodeled and was a great place to stay, but I left disappointed. Room was small, but I expected that based on the age of the hotel. It was only a couple blocks from River Walk so that was nice as well. And employees were very friendly. However, the breakfast was mediocre at best. And parking was a bit of a pain because it's valet only. Room didn't get cleaned until after 4:00 one day due to an employee not showing up, and elevators were tiny and horribly slow. Overall, I just really wasn't all that impressed.
Friendly service, clean, well-appointed room, great breakfast, fitness room fine. Great location only a few blocks walk to The Alamo and Riverwalk. Try The Boulangerie across the street for authentic French pastries.
I've stayed at far nicer standard BWs, with much better amenities and service. Maybe it's the location. Maybe it's because it's in an old historic building. Whatever. This place falls short on so many levels. In fact, we checked out and moved to the nearby BW Premier Sunset Suites Riverwalk and enjoyed a much, much nicer facility with a room literally twice the size for the same price. Besides the cramped room — which offered no place to sit other than on the bed or at the tiny, nearly-useless desk area — the “little things” were constant annoyances. Things like no channel guide for the television (the on-screen guide had little to do with what was actually available). No in-room hotel guide or directory to tell you where things like ice machines are located. The Kuerig had not been cleaned and I had to pry a nasty old K-cup out and wash out the machine before I could use it. No place to put anything down; don't bring much luggage! If you put it down on the floor you'll barely have room to walk around it...but at least you'll be able to see it at night. Our room was so bright from light leaking around/under the door, no black-out curtains, myriad LED lights (including a dual-display nightstand alarm clock which you could practically read by), that at least we didn't need a nightlight to find the bathroom after dark. Helpful hint: use the body pillow to block the hallway light coming in under the door. Besides, it's so big that if you set it anywhere else on the floor you'll have even less room to move around. Add in a refrigerator cabinet door that could not be closed without an ear-splitting BANG! The annoyances didn't stop at the room. The fitness center, besides being very small, had two key pieces of equipment which weren't even functioning, and no one on staff who knew anything about them. Elliptical was in child-lock mode, with no instructions on how to override it. The treadmill control panel would turn on, but the buttons would not respond. The woman at the front desk could only offer “I don't know, I never use those things!” Oddly enough, the young man at the valet stand came in to help, to no avail. He said he'd check with maintenance and call our room when it got fixed (this is the valet's job?). When we returned from our day of sightseeing he informed us that the maintenance guy never came in that day. Sorry. Even a dip in the indoor pool was out of the question, as it looked dirty and even had what we hoped was just a leave (in an indoor pool?) or a Baby Ruth bar laying on the bottom. It was still there when we checked out two days later, and the elliptical and treadmill were still down. Apparently no one uses the pool or fitness center at this particular BW. Oh, speaking of two days later; we made a side excursion up to Austin. Thinking we might spend the night up there we took all of our stuff with us. We decided not to stay and returned in the evening to find our room door propped open by the dead bolt. Oops. Glad we had taken our cameras and laptops with us! I won't delve too deeply into how incredibly noisy this location is, as other reviews have already mentioned it. From our third-floor room we could too-easily hear the hootin' and hollerin' from the nearby clubs and bars well into the wee hours. Even the near-constant clip-clop off carriage horse hooves on the pavement. The traffic noise often overpowered the television. If you stay request a room on the top floor away from the street. Have I given you enough reasons to seek other accommodations? I'm typing this review from the other BW across town, which seems like a whole different world. But there are positives, really. The location is super convenient (albeit a bit divey) for touristy stuff, being just a couple of blocks from The Alamo and Riverwalk, and an easy walk to Tower of the Americas. You don't need a car (which is good, because there is no parking, valet only). Bus stops are very close for excursions to museums and other points of interest farther out. The free breakfast was pretty substantial and changed a bit daily. The place is newly remodeled and clean (although the bathtubs were all replaced by huge showers, except in the handicapped rooms). If you've stayed in some of the historic hotels in many major cities the tiny room probably won't phase you. But if you plan on doing anything other than sleeping (or trying to), I simply cannot recommend this hotel. Nor figure out what earned it a BW Premier designation.
This hotel is not far away from the Riverwalk or Alamo which was very nice however since it is an older building you can hear EVERYTHING from the street in your room- We were on the 6th floor and could hear every person/horse/vehicle that went by. The parking is Valet only which is fine however they only have one maybe two spots so if they are busy you might have to drive around the block a couple times before you can pull up to park.
The location is perfect for access to the Riverwalk and tourist things. The beds were comfortable, the rooms nice and a great value for the money. The added benefit of a breakfast was a bonus and the staff in the restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful. The desk staff also very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again and would recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy the wonderful River Walk area.
Parking fees and/or valet service not mentioned on Website anywhere. Can be considered a bit much. Location is a big plus, however, for Riverwalk or Pearl Brewery shops. Breakfast offerings excellent every day.
Great property within 2 blocks of the riverwalk. The rooms are small but the renovated property is clean, the beds are comfortable and the touches in the room ar more upscale thqn your average BW Plus. The downstairs bar & grill is open in the evenings and the bartender Noah is exceptional! We topped off our evening one night with wine and drinks and were thoroughly entertained with grea conversation. Last, there is a tasty Thai restaurant less than a block away.
In town for a conference. Walk to convention center is only 15 minutes, and you'll find that you're out to eat on the riverwalk often, which is even closer to the hotel. The rooms are smaller, but more than adequate for a convention stay. Bed incredibly comfortable. Staff very friendly. D'Anna and Tyrell out of their way to help me with a mix up on a package delivery. Will absolutely be staying again when travel brings me to San Antonio.
I looked this hotel up for a weekend getaway for my husband and I, read reviews tried to get as much information as I could about the place and thought I had until I got there. This hotel is very nicely renovated and yes the room was a little compact but I'm just sleeping there not living so it was fine, the room was nice and clean and nice decor. The one area that this hotel fell short on was advising people that are booking that there is NO free parking. I had no idea where to park when I got there and just pulled into the parking lot next to hotel, which I knew was a pay for your spot lot but I needed to go inside to find out what the policy on parking was. When I asked the guy at the front desk he said “ did you use our valet parking” I told him no right now the car is parked behind the hotel. I was directed by him to go take care of the parking fee for that lot first before he checked us in so we wouldn't get towed away. I did that, $12. for 12 hours or $24 for 24 hours those are your only options at this particular lot. Went back inside to check in and asked how much would the valet parking would have been, he is pulling up my name and sees I'm a Diamond reward member and proceeded to tell me oh it would have been free since your a Diamond member.....That's something he should have checked and made me aware of before I was told to take care of paying for parking and then just kinda laughed us off as we told him that would have been nice to know. I wasn't offered any kind of discount on my bill or even just some extra points to compensate for him not getting all the information before hand. I'm not one of those Diamond level people that expect extra because of it but I saw nothing about paying to park at this hotel on the site so I just think in order for people to know someone should say it, at least put it in the description area of the hotel so that everyone will know before hand and can make better preparations.
Stayed here for three nights from the 8th March. Was apprehensive about booking it having read mixed reviews. How wrong can you be. Perfect location for walking to the Alamo and Riverwalk. I had a King Room, and yes as others have said, the room is not as large as it could be, but put into context the type of building this once was and they are more than adequate, after all its not as though you are living in it. The room itself, spotlessly clean and tidy and well presented. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, in particular D'anna on the front desk who was absolutely charming.. If I ever visit San Antonio again, I would have no hesitation in booking this hotel.
Brenda and D'Anna at front desk were nice and very helpful. Bed was comfortable Bathroom floor and shower were disgusting. Carpet was littered with debris. We were in room 612 on March 1. We did not use the shower - the floor in it was that bad.
First time stay in this hotel- generally go to San Antonio pretty regularly so I've stayed in quite a few and I was really impressed. It's set a little bit away from the main action of Alamo Plaza however is perfectly situated for the riverwalk/Alamo. The staff were universally absolutely amazing from reception to the valet staff. There's a great little shop in reception where you can buy soda and snacks which is really handy. I was travelling solo so went in at the standard room which by US standards is a little cosy however well laid out with amenities and very clean.
My husband and I usually stay at a downtown hotel for our anniversary, and we usually like to stay at a different place every year. We had noticed the renovations to the structure over the past few months, and were very curious how the updates came along. I was really glad we chose this place! I love old and historic buildings, and I would much rather see them remodeled than torn down. What was great about this place is how much the staff new about the building in general. It's definitely been modernized and all furnishings are definitely new, however you still see vintage details all throughout. The tiled lobby, and the pool is a great example of how they've kept a lot of it's vintage charm. It is a historic building, so some of the rooms may be small, however beds were cozy, the wifi worked great, and there were plenty of outlets and usb ports throughout the entire room. It was also a really great value for being downtown, especially since it's between the riverwalk and the Pearl. It had a nice hot breakfast included in a very spacious dining area and either coffee or tea was always readily available in the lobby.
From the moment we walked in, Brenda gave us such a warm and energetic welcome that we felt instantly at home and at ease after a long, tiring flight. She is really a gem and her dedication to what she does is inspiring. Everything during our stay was perfect. The breakfast was very nice with great service from Janelle. The location was great and the hotel felt clean and safe. Amanda at the front desk was also very helpful.
Comfy older hotel with a helpful staff that provide great guest experience. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed, but a bit on the small size. It's walking distance to the Alamo and downtown. The pool area was cold and the pool itself isn't much bigger than a bathtub. The restaurant has limited hours and slim food choices (bar food). The desk personnel including Brenda and Amanda were super. Free breakfast was well run.
Yes, the rooms are small but this hotel housed in an historic building has been completely renovated. Very comfy bed, full sized bathroom with everything you'll need, coffee maker, lots of outlets for all your devices, pretty good wireless, and a nice work desk, full complimentary breakfast complimentary with lots of hot options, a pretty good bar with very low drink prices and a super staff. They were always willing to do whatever you asked. Change money, provide additional room supplies and even made a phone call for us and called to get more info on an area attraction. We are planning to stay there again.
I was checked in by a woman named Brenda, and she was absolutely wonderful. She gave my group and I a very warm welcome and gave me quick and helpful service. Hotels can be stressful, but I get to breathe easy this time!
The older Hotel was recently refurbished. We both were very satisfied with just everything there, and specially with the services of all employed! I would like to thank specially Brenda for her help and information she was shering with us.
Not big rooms but adequate and serviced daily. Very helpful staff and friendly as well. Adequate free breakfast and good selection. Can have dinner in the bar at night but the choice was very limited when we were there. Safe area and easy walk to attractions.
The staff at check-in was simply the best! Valet parking is a real bargain! This hotel is within easy walking distance to both the Alamo and the Riverwalk. Rooms were very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was good and attractively served. Great place to stay and VERY reasonably priced.
Loved this place. Brand new renovations that added bathrooms into the rooms. Rooms are small but adequate. Expect to hump your luggage up a few stairs, and squeeze into a tiny elevator, but lots of character and super helpful staff, from the valet to the front desk to the bar...fresh baked cookies in the afternoon, a great breakfast with eggs (yeah!) and coffee on in the library. Close to walk anywhere downtown...we parked the car with the valet. Watch the shark towing company on the lot next door, don't park and run into the hotel to register - not connected, although you may assume that! They were taking out 3 -5 cars an hour!
Thank you Noah for making my visit such a special treat. You made me feel welcome and special. I will now make this hotel my home on all my trips to San Antonio. Your the best!!! I travel a lot and making a hotel a home is important to me. Again THANK YOU!!
Stayed here with my husband to ring in the New Year from Dec 30, 2017 - Jan 3, 2018. It was truly one of the better Best Western that we have stayed in. Although I agree the rooms were very small, it was however, more than adequate. The bed was cosy, the shower pressure was great, toiletries were generous, and we were delighted that it was located in a quiet area, although it was just 3 blocks away from the riverwalk. Breakfast was provided, but it was the usual breakfast offered by any other budget hotels. There's a Thai rest. & Chinese rest. nearby as well as a french bakery across the street. Kudos to the front desk for being helpful and friendly too and it was unfortunate I did not get their names. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I would choose this hotel again in a heart beat.
Went with my sister in law for 2 days of R&R. The hotel is within walking distance to several areas all around 4-6 blocks. These include the Alamo, Riverwalk, etc. There is valet parking for $21 a day. We stayed in room 128 with 2 queen size beds and it was very spacious. However the bathroom is small compared to the room. The room has a fridge, micro, kurig coffeemaker, and a safe. The kurig didn't work and they replaced it. The safe was locked and maintenance had to fix it. If you need to take a taxi, make sure you have them called the taxi with plenty of time. The taxi company took about 25 minutes to pick us up. Breakfast is served M-F 6-9; S-S 7-10. Breakfast has cold and hot items including eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, etc. Check in is 3 pm and check out is 11 am. It has a pool and gym room. There is a bar in the lobby area open 5-10 with happy hour until 7pm. The staff is exceptional. All we met during our stay did everything they could to make our stay incredible. From the valets to the hotel manager. Theo the daytime valet helped us with our car, our suitcases, directions, etc. Etc. Rafael the night time valet also helped us out and was very nice. The ladies at the front desk, Cindy and Brenda were very nice. Brenda was the best front desk clerk I have ever encountered in a hotel. She is absolutely the best - she is friendly, helpful, etc. The hotel manager and general manager - Dimple Bhatka was always visible and always available to chat with us and help us out in any way possible. It was incredible. Everyone really took care of us. I highly recommend it.
Best customer service of any hotels that I have stayed. Brenda at the front desk made us feel like long time friends! She was very helpful, and made us feel welcome every time we walked in. Both Cindy and General manager Dimple checked on us. Valet service was great, both Theo and Rafael . Hotel very clean, charming vintage decor. Location was great. Walked everywhere!
This hotel provides excellent customer service. Check in was easy and we were greeted with a smile. This hotel is in a great location around the corner from the river walk. It's not close enough to the nightlife to disturb and not to far of a walk from many locations such as the Alamo, Coffee shops, shopping center. The room was small , but my wife and I enjoyed it. Nice comfy bed with a view and a nice size TV for down time. I'd stay again.
Service was excellent; staff chatted with us and made us feel welcome. Room was cozy / small, but comfortable. Within short walking distance of the Alamo and Riverwalk. Do note that parking is valet parking (actual car park is a couple of blocks away, according to our valet).
Great customer service by brenda went over and beyond to help me was so great made me feel special was great all she did never had I had this great experience in San Antonio thank you you made my day and exceeded my expectations very happy can't wait to be in San Antonio
We needed 2 double rooms. The hotel was renovated when the new owners took over and they created double rooms on the first floor. We were in 133 and 134 and the window was next to a parking lot. Two of the 3 mornings we stayed, we were waken up at 5 am by a garbage truck or something similar. Asked to move to one of the rooms in the front of the hotel that was much larger (featured on their website) after the first night and was told that was not possible. i walked by and one room was clearly empty. Considered changing hotels, but they have a 2 day cancellation policy on Hotels.com, so couldn't. Our rooms were small, cramped and dark. It was a couple of blocks to the Alamo, lots of hotels are closer. Breakfast was great however. Valets were very helpful. Beds were comfy.
On a recent staycaytion my wife and I decided to give this newly renovated hotel a try. We were very glad that we did. I moved back to San Antonio about 12 years ago. When I first moved back I remember coming downtown and seeing this building, I used to even buy tacos at the convenience store at the bottom. But I never dared to enter the hotel. So to see that it was renovated, I had to give it a chance. They did a wonderful job. The rooms are very nice and have a spectacular view of Travis Park. It was still in the swing of the holiday season so all of the Christmas lights were still up. The elevator is a little compact so hopefully you travel lightly. The rooms themselves are also a tad small but so are a lot of the historic hotel buildings from this era. What the rooms lack in size they most definitely make up in comfort and free Wi-Fi. I'm a sucker for a good breakfast and the free continental breakfast definitely didn't disappoint. Over all it was a great experience, the modern RFID style key cards came in handy when your hands were full, because all you had to do was wave your wallet in front of the door. We had a great experience and recommend it to anyone.
We booked a room with two queen beds on the Best Western website. When we arrived at standard check-in time they said that room type was not available. We looked perplexed. The front office staff was defensive and said we must have booked through a travel agent, so, tough luck. But we didn't, we booked straight from the Best Western website. As we asked about other options, could they upgrade the room? Give us a discount for taking the smaller beds (not comfortable for our family of 4), the front desk attendant was increasingly hostile. When we asked to speak to the manager, he said he was calling the police. We were more than happy to leave. But that has to be the most disturbing hotel experience I have ever had. The horrible customer service on top of Best Western overbooking from their own website is enough to never stay there again.
The guest service is wonderful. They treated us as royalty. The room was perfect for a couple. Nice, clean, superior details, and an incredible view of downtown. A quick walk to the Alamo (5 min walking) and the Riverwalk. Great restaurant on site with a good breakfast. Great deal for the price. We love it and would be our hotel in San Antonio.
Gorgeous, historic hotel within walking distance to EVERY THING. Staff was amazing, even finding ice cream that wasn't on the menu, to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Tyrell at the front desk was especially wonderful.
Hotel is one of those older Texas gems which has been remodeled nicely. Very quaint with a modern flair. Rooms are small but clean (bed was very comfy and amenities were great)!! Location is excellent - very safe area and close to everything!
The location is perfect, 3 minutes walking to Alamo, 5 minutes to River walk. A lot of resturants nearby. The hotel was pretty newly renovated, the facilities are in perfect condition. The bed was very comfortable, breakfast is typical BW =, but good enough for us. Overall very satisfied with the hotel, will definitely come back when we visit San Antonio. Highly recommended!
Everything was ok but the parking 22 dls per night,,no good,,,,and the rooms are extremely small you can barely walk,i gave em an 75% out of 100 %.but I saw some other rooms are a little bit bigger,,we got the small ones,,
I am glad that we chose this hotel to stay at for 2 nights while visiting San Antonio. We only had very slight issues with the bathroom door and heating/cooling, but they were not anything that we couldn't deal with. It is an old hotel with small rooms but we like visiting/staying in places as such. Overall, our stay was wonderful! Thank you BWP Staff!
Pros: near the Alamo and Riverwalk, free Wi-Fi and breakfast, laundry room, updated finishes in the hallways and rooms. Cons: tiny room, sketchy area of downtown, expensive parking, dirty lobby, dirty bathroom upon check in (lots of hair on the shower walls-see pic). If I was here alone, I would not feel safe. I would not go out the front door after dark by myself.
It was a great stay!! The room was a little small but I loved the hotel! The front desk clerk was extremely helpful! We were close, within walking distance to all downtown attractions. The valet price was reasonable. Great stay!!
The valet and staff went above and beyond was great this was very nice hotel would recommend it for anybody to stay at, rooms very clean on weekends the make great omelets to order.. close to river walk and Alamo they made it overall great experience
BW is in a great spot, only a few minutes walk to the Riverwalk & Alamo. Room was on the small side, which I expected from reviews, but it was comfortable and served its purpose. We utilized the breakfast each morning, which is the standard BW breakfast - eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, fruit, drinks/coffee, etc. Downsides - the hotel is right on a busy street and is pretty noisy until late at night. We heard cars and party-goers until at least 11 each night. Also, parking is tricky. If you are coming from the north, the hotel is on the left with no place to pull in. You have to drive around the block to pull up to the hotel. Also, the valet service was hit and miss. During the day & early evening they did well. But, the first night, the night front desk agent had to track down the valet so our car could be parked. The biggest issue was our last night, we had attended an event and didn't return until after 11pm. The desk agent told us to just leave the car out front, but there were no spots left other than in the stripped lines/tow away zone. The lady at the desk ended up leaving her post to park our car. She was nice and took care of everything, but management may want to formulate a better plan for late arriving guests. Overall, it was comfortable and a nice place to stay. Its a new hotel, I'd expect some kinks need to be worked out.
Very friendly staff helpful. Excellent room, clean great breakfast. Just 2 blocks from the Alamo great location.Very up to date it is a great remodeled building. Very quiet setting. front desk staff very helpful on what to see in the city.
We loved our stay as it was clean and close to the Alamo and Riverwalk. We actually wish we asked what brand of mattress they have as we loved our queen sized bed (if someone from the hotel sees this, please respond ;) ). The staff was always friendly and very helpful.
I can not say enough about how wonderful every employee we interacted with during our stay was.I wish I had thought to get every ones names but I do remember Brenda who checked us in and set the high bar for all the employees. I would stay here again just for that reason but the Hotel was nice. If your in town to do touristy things the location was great. The rooms are small but I'm usual not one to stay inside any how.
The hotel was close to the Alamo and the riverwalk. Breakfast was good, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but nice. The hotel has valet parking which seems standard for that area. I thought the price was reasonable even with valet parking.
Nicely remodeled older hotel. Quaint. Small but comfortable rooms. Easy to locate. Close to the San Antonio River Walk. I've stayed there twice and would stay there again. No parking available other than valet, but a parking lot owned by others is located next to the hotel. Warning: the next door parking lot is patrolled by a wrecker who will promptly tow cars that have not paid or have exceeded the time paid for.
I was nervous to book my group, we were in San Antonio for business, at a best western but the moment we walked in the door all of that vanished. For the price and location you can't find better. the staff is first class, the hotel is gorgeous, rooms are small but very nice, comfortable and clean. I have told all my co-workers that if they are going to San Antonio that is where they should stay.
It's a week before check in and I called to ask if an accommodation could be made on my reservation. Brenda answered the phone and took care of my request and THEN some! If the customer service on the phone is anything like the stay.....
This was my first stay at a Best western Premier and I was very pleased with it. Create location, not far from the high way, and in walking distance of the Alamo and the river walk. There is also a lounge at the hotel and several restaurants and bars close by. Breakfast was the typical fare with the addition of an omelet station. It was delicious.
Very sleek and modern room it's about 9 mind away from the river walk. This place is great be careful because the parking is a little bit tricky, I would them park it for you. Also check out the bar next door ‘Trophy Room' very hip place!
Husband and I went to Riverwalk for our anniversary. Picked Best Western because husband is Premier member. Let me start by saying we are "small town" people so coming to SA is out of our league. We arrived and circled the hotel several times trying to find where to park. Finally called and they said to pull up in front and valet would take our car. Ok, we pull up, another car is unloading so we blocked traffic until the car pulled out. Unloaded and went inside. Desk clerk was extremely friendly. Checked us in, made a big deal about husbands premier status, warned us that their rooms are smaller than a typical hotel and we proceeded up to our room. First thing husband noticed was no bathtub. Normally not an issue but since Hurricane Harvey, we have been living in a travel trailer and he was looking forward to a hot soaking bath. I called the front desk and explained what was going on and she immediately moved us to a larger, room that had a tub. There was a problem with the AC, kept going off and giving error message and the automatic blind didn't work but I didn't call to report these things. We were tired and didn't want to pack up and change rooms again. I'm sure she would have accommodated us just as quickly. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable.
I would recommend this hotel, most of the staff are great. The hotel is very close to the river walk and other attractions in downtown San Antonio. Breakfast buffet was very good, thanks Sidney and Juan made the bar/ lounge a great place to have a drink.
Staff was outstanding and very attentive. I'm on the road staying in hotels across the south from Florida to California. I stay in many 5 star hotels from Miami to LA. This hotel while not being what I would call an elite hotel has a staff that is second to no hotel listed as a 5 star hotel. Keep UP the great work with a staff that goes the extra mile.
Our stay was during the Rock n Roll Marathon Weekend. We were greeted by prompt bellman who approached our ride as we exited. The front desk staff clerk working that evening welcomed us & was informative of the hotel. Since it was an event weekend, the Sunday breakfast time was opened an hour earlier & late checkout was offered that day as well to accommodate participants. The bar staff chatted us up while we had a cocktail. The swanky hotel style was very comfortable & accessible to charge our devices in the room. The convenient in-room amenities were in working order. I felt that places were within a reasonable walking distance (about 10 min) from the location. Oh, the breakfast had a good spread that included eggs, sausage, waffles, biscuits, & gravy. They had an area to purchase food items. There was a little coffee & snack area all day. This place to me was one where I felt that I got what I paid for. Good job, Best Western! I'd stay here again. For other travelers reading this: I'm not sure about parking since we used a ride share service. We ran out of time so I don't know what the pool is like. The elevators are a little small fitting about 2-3 people with luggage. We don't have kids or a service animal so I don't know what the experience is like.
Awesome hotel, awesome location, wonderful staff, comfortable bed. Great area, good breakfast, great coffee choices for in room coffee. Friendly staff. Willing to make our stay with restaurant recommendations
This is the best BW I have stayed at. I am a diamond member and have stayed in many locations. I like the BW franchise and this hotel is 5 STAR. We had a double queen room. The beds were very comfortable. All the amenities worked and they had upgraded electronics. Plenty of USB connections. WIFI worked well. Bathroom had a luxury shower and was very roomy.
Great hotel for a great price. The bed was sooo comfy and the breakfast and service in the morning was top notch. Their coffee is a great starter as well. Don't skip San Antonio because of high riverside hotel prices. Stay here for an affordable price and enjoy the city hopefully as much as I did and you won't regret it!
The hotel is in a prime location. We walked to mostly every place we wanted to visit. The hotel staff was very nice and professional. The breakfast was included and everything was fresh. I would stay here again.
This hotel is awesome, my room had an incredible view, it faced the street (Broadway) and had a view of Travis Park which was where the Christmas Tree Lighting celebration was held at. It was an awesome experience, the rooms are lovely, cozy and definitely something to write home about! Staff Brenda Kirkpatrick really knows how to take care of her guests. Kuddos to Brenda Kirkpatrick!!!
Wonderful hotel in DT San Antonio...staff was very efficient and friendly. Room very clean, buffet was a bit tough for someone who does not eat biscuits and gravy--more Texas food than fit my desire to maintain my weight.
Lovely hotel in a great location. Very near (walking distance) to the Alamo and many other historic sites. Nice modern rooms with upgraded amenities. Restaurant/bar on site. Small swimming pool, no hot tub. Do not take a room on the first floor/street side! We heard lots of loud, unsavory conversations until about 4am from people leaving nearby bars.
This is a new place and it is nice to be able to review a new hotel. There were the good... free breakfast, good spread of choices. Close to the Riverwalk. Great staff. The bad? (this is why I only gave them 3/5)... first off, we were on the first floor. Every morning, like clockwork, 6am, a truck (not sure if it was deliveries or dumpster truck), but we heard it every morning and was woken up. One of the nights we stayed there (stayed 4 nights), there what sounded like upstairs although the area we stayed, there shouldn't have been anyone above us, but i can only guess people got on the roof area at 3am and walked back and forth. Also the room was a squeeze as well as not that great lighting. Other then that, it was an ok stay but maybe stay or request a room in a higher level.
This hotel was recently renovated and looks modern. Their is a nice personal touch such as cookies at check in and a 24/7 coffee/tea area with biscotti in the afternoons. Great little bar/lounge downstairs and really great location!Walking distance to Riverwalk and shopping mall. Really affordable. Staff was super friendly and facilities are clean. Continental breakfast n the morning is a nice bonus. Note: This is an OLDER hotel. Historic area and part of the San Antonio Charm. That being said, the elevator and rooms are very tight. They are clean, modern and as space efficient as possible, but they are small.
We really enjoyed our stay. The room, although small, was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had a room on the 7th floor, which we liked so we could see the city. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast in the morning was good and kept fully stocked through the morning. My only complaint would be: There is a desk at the bottom of the bed and a chair there. Since the rooms are so small, we could not get the chair out and it blocked what little walkway that we had to the other side of the room. I really could not see anyone being able to use the chair, might be helpful to just remove them. Otherwise, we would definitely stay there again.
A Best Western for only a few months, there are some kinks to work out. The provided TV channel listing on screen does not agree to the TV stations received. A seemingly easy thing to fix with a printed card that they haven't addressed. Coffee cups ran out at breakfast, with only light customer traffic. Not the best BW breakfast buffet...cold eggs. But the staff was friendly and helpful otherwise and the beds were very comfortable.
Excellent staff and very friendly. Rooms small but nice. Great price and quick walk to river street. Would staybthere again if I get chance. Valet was good and very courteous. Alamo is very close along with easy access to testeraunts and highway.
Booked this hotel due to the relatively low cost. Did not have much expectations as I saw some nasty reviews online. However nearer to my travel dates, i noted that there are some positives reviews for this hotel. nonetheless, went with an open mind, and we are very impressed by the services. The only negative part was, i tried to ring the hotel to inform that i will be arriving the next morning due to flight delay, but no one picked the phone. lucky, i had a colleague staying in the same hotel and i managed to seek my colleague's help.
We always get treated nice and professionalism. From the front desk to the bar to the cleaning service. I always book with best western because i enjoy staying with them. The breakfast is also perfect. And very good.
The staff was friendly and hospitable. The room was clean and nice. Only problem was that one of their lights were not working or bulb was out and they couldn't find a light bulb to fit. The toiletries were very nice. The elevator is super small and slow, but you must keep in mind that this is a very old building. It's been updated with nice decor though. The lounge area was nice, the breakfast was what the one thing that was horrific, cold, tasteless, coffee watery. Not good. That was my only disappointment. The hotel is a great location, walking distance to San Antonio attractions and eateries. I would book here again if I were to go to San Antonio again.
This hotel is within walking distance to the riverwalk, the Alamo and good eating establishments. They do offer valet parking, and the price for all the amenities is excellent. I would stay here again.
Very clean hotel with a pretty good location. Staff was sub-par and bathrooms a bit awkward, but I got a good deal on the hotel and it was well worth the money. Make sure to plan your parking. I was a little shocked to find that valet service was $21 a night, but I found a $5 lot towards the end od my stay about 5 blocks up. I was on business, so this didn't really matter, but for leisure I would have parked at the cheaper lot.
Great hotel at any price. Bartender is really nice and friendly. We ended are days chatting with him. We were able to walk to the Alamo, the Riverwalk, any many other restaurants. The manager was always around and the staff asked often if we needed anything. Service was exceptional!
The hotel is clean and well maintained. Staff are friendly and professional. Highly recommended!!! Location is within walking distance of the River Walk and Alamo. Parking can be a hassle in this part of town but the hotel has valet service which is relatively inexpensive and easy to deal with.
This was a great location and the hotel is wonderful. Customer service was great! Clean and newly renovated. We stayed here for 3 nights for our anniversary and was able to walk everywhere. We did not rent a car. The cab is about 25.00 from the airport. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The pool was cold which was disappointing but that was the only issue we had. We went to Texas at Brazil steakhouse around the corner and it was fabulous! There is a French cafe across the street and an antique mall which was amazing. We also went to the Pearl farmers market, which is worth the trip. We did walk there but it is a bit of a hike. The bus goes there and it is cheap. Yes the rooms are small but we did not spend a lot of time there and did not think it to be an issue. We go on a lot of cruises and the room was bigger than those cabins! It is worth the location and cleanliness to stay at this hotel. Definitely recommend this place!
We could not believe the friendliness of the staff. On our 2nd day the USA paper that is suppose to come daily did not arrive. Amanda went out and got us a paper at a store. The next morning she picked up a paper for us on her way into work and gave it to us at breakfast. Because we are in our 70s we did not know how to work the keurig coffee maker in our room and called the desk. Within 5 minutes Mark was there to help us out. When you arrive at the hotel they offer you an individually wrapped cookie. They were so good the next day I asked if I could check in again so I could get another cookie. The girl behind the desk offered me another one with delight. The day before we left I asked tyrell if I could buy some of the gilcrest and Soames shampoo and conditioner because it was the best shampoo I had ever tried. He said no problem and gave me some extra and when I asked him how much he said he was happy to give me some. We have never been treated so royally at a hotel before. Besides the front desk the breakfast staff was super. There was always eggs, ham, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, waffles, cereal, sweet rolls, yogurt, juice, fruit and made to order omelette son weekends. The room had the most comfortable bed and pillows. Shower was huge with a great shower head. Almost everything was within walking distance. If I could rate them higher than a 5 I would give them a 10
The rooms are so small that there is not a place to put your suitcase, except on the floor, right by the bed. And there was not a rack provided to set up to put a suitcase on, so we had to kneel down on the floor to get at our clothes. It was nice of them to try to conserve water by asking us to put on the bathroom floor only those things to be replaced, but when we put two wash clothes on the floor, they were not replaced, just taken away, which was basically the only reason we knew any house cleaner was even in the room. The pool was tiny and very cold.
I am a BW Diamond Elite member so I stay at a lot of Best Westerns. I stayed in this BW hotel shortly after they opened on 8/12/17. They had a lot of problems then. Poor curb-side valet, housekeeping training still going on (while I was in room), poor food quality for breakfast, hours posted for lunge no honored, not prepared for my arrival, long wait for car when I left. I decided to give it another try on Oct 26-28, 2017 and found great improvements to all the flaws mentioned above except the breakfast quality. For a hotel that claims Premier" status among Best Western establishments, the food was the same processed, frozen and packaged garbage that is served in most of the BW "economy" class motels. I would expect for a featured BW hotel, the food would be prepared at least from fresh ingredients and served with a bit more style. I would rather pay for a quality breakfast than have that garbage served for free. Be warned, the rooms are small. About the size of a room at a $50 Microtel, only with much nicer furnishing and bed quality. I asked for, and received, a corner room. It was not much bigger than the center room I got last stay so I assume all the rooms are on the small size. No bathtub, just shower, in both rooms. Of course there is nothing the staff can do about the small rooms. The flaw is in the design trying to squeeze too many rooms into a small building. They would have been better off with using the space of two rooms for one room and making room less crowded. Hindsight? The location is great for the center of activity of San Antonio. Only a short walk to Alamo and Riverwalk. You can park your car and visit downtown SA with ease. The valet service was greatly improved since first stay, with the attendant helping with bags coming and going. Well worth the cost considering the cost of parking around downtown. Overall, the stay was nice and I will give it a positive recommendation. For a great location, very friendly staff, a warm greeting, but slightly lower expectations of a "premier" hotel, this hotel is a quality stay. It will be better if they improve the food. Maybe that will be better when I stay again, which I will.
Beautiful hotel. Our room was very clean & lovely. Loved the overall decor of the hotel. The staff was friendly & attentive to all our needs. It was a great location for us. I highly recommend this hotel.
The Best Western is in a great location. Close to the River Walk, close to restaurants, close to other larger hotels that host conferences but at a much lesser cost. Breakfast is included at the great rate.
Just a 3 to 5 minute walk to the Alamo and River walk this hotel is ideally located. The hotel staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. They really made this stay top notch. The rooms were small but well laid out and stocked with everything I needed except for a folding rank to put my suitcase on. This is a new hotel, very clean and modern inside. I would highly recommend a stay.
This is a beautifully renovated hotel within walking distance of the River Walk. Everyone from the valet parking attendants, front desk to the breakfast staff greeted us warmly and wanted to make sure our stay was pleasant. Our room was small because of the historical nature of the building but what it lacked in size it made up for in modern design and amenities. Do not hesitate to select this gem of a hotel in the heart of San Antonio!
Although the building is older, it is unique in design. Our room was small but Best Western's creative flair made it seem much larger than it was. It was aesthetically pleasing and the beds were very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Brenda checked us in and, although we had an express check-out. We had to say hello to Tyrell, the front desk fellow with whom we initially spoke on the telephone. Housekeeping staff were also very helpful, as were the fellows working valet. Next time we visit San Antonio, we'll definitely stay at this Best Western Premier Historic Travelers Hotel Alamo/Riverwalk. By the way, the boat ride at the Riverwalk was wonderful, though I hear it's even more spectacular during the Christmas Holiday with all the decorations.
This hotel was wonderful! Very close to the river walk. The $22 valet parking per day was completely worth it. The rooms are small but very well remodeled. The staff was wonderful and friendly. Will definitely be back!
The staff here was great! I would definitely recommend this hotel. I also loved how close we were to the riverwalk. And breakfast was splendid! If you're looking for a hotel downtown you should stay here.
Great Staff. All were very attentive educated, kind. Excellent Location. Great Breakfest. Silent street. Next to the Alamo and RiverWalk. Well maintened Hotel. All clean áreas. I recommend everyone to know San Antônio.
Wife and I stayed here during Columbus Day weekend 2017 and enjoyed it immensely. Clean and neat accommodations all around greeted us and complete amenities kept us satisfied. The rooms are small to be sure, but have everything you could want. Breakfast for the most part is very good and well stocked all the way until the end. Staff is friendly and helpful. Sadly the hotel does not offer parking so be ready to pay another $20 a day for valet parking or park yourself a couple of blocks away. Other than that, perfect stay.
A mixed review, first the positive. Hotel is in a good location, short walk to the Alamo and downtown. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. The negative, room wasn't ready when we checked in at 3:30pm (for us and other guests). And when we finally checked in the bathroom wasn't cleaned, tub was dirty and towels left behind. Front staff did apologize apparently they were short-staffed that day. I would stay again but would double-check that the room was really clean before heading out. The rooms are a bit on the small size but the bed was comfortable.
We most definitely recommend this hotel! It is recently remodeled & it is very nice from the exterior to the interior! The staff is excellent! Very very helpful with whatever it is u need! The bed are very comfortable & the rooms are nicely remodeled & very nice! The breakfast is very good & they also have a restaurant/ lounge bar! Also u are walking distance to the Alamo & the River Center Mall, the river walk & all the amazing things that are in downtown San Antonio!
Upon arrival I was treated so welcome. I received the very best attention with some happy employees right away. They really treated me as if I were the only customer making sure that I had everything I needed. During the stay my room was the cleanest and smelled the freshes. The food was plentiful and much more than I expected. The waiters were awesome. Fresh omelets were a hit for sure. Upon departure the staff was so helpful to make certain I was able to make touch with the best service to the airport. One young man even programmed my phone for me to be able to call for transportation in the futre. I will return again on my next visit to San Antonio.
Everything was so wonderful. Couldn't ask for anything better. Such a short walk to river walk, Alamo and of course sphopping! The restaurants we couldn't make up our minds all smelt so good. Just had a good time!
This was a nicely decorated hotel, clean and safe. The desk clerk was attentive and cheerful. (Except he unfortunately was uninformed about the rewards points for Best Western.) The rooms are small (similar to New York), but for the proximity to the River Walk, it was fine. I suggest that you check your TV, WiFi and coffee machine when you check in so that you know they're working before you leave for your River Walk tour. We had some issues that we didn't find until very late / early morning. I think the staff could have addressed them while we were gone if we had noticed them earlier.
The location is decent within walking distance of the Alamo, River Walk and other city attractions. If you are walking at night, be sure to have someone with you, as you are towards the end of the area. Still is safe. The hotel was unique, old building that was abandon for years. The rooms are all remodeled and current. The room is a little small, however, the cleanliness and super friendly staff more than make up for it. There are refrigerators, microwaves and coffee pots in the room. They have continental breakfast, but also will cook to order omelets or any other egg product. The waffles are shaped like the state of Texas. Parking as all the hotels is limited, so they do charge for parking. Approximately $22 a night. There are some parking areas close by, not sure what the overnight rate was. We paid around $100 for the room for Saturday night, and that was a great deal. Most of the hotels around town average $200 or more a night. I highly recommend this hotel just on the price alone, but the bonus was the friendly and accommodating staff and the rooms are clean. You cant ask for too much more.
The hotel was great for walking to all the sites in San Antonio and the only downside to our visit was the rain! We loved the decor and though the bedroom was not huge, it was well furnished and very comfortable. We would not hesitate to stay here again and would love to return in the future and visit San Antonio in the sunshine.
A great experience. A smaller room, but to be expected for an older building. I was on the 7th floor and there is a short flight from the elevators up to the rooms, but they warned me about it when I checked in and I just had a small backpack for the weekend. The room is a bit small, but realistically you're just sleeping in it right? It had countless charging stations for electronics, a fridge and microwave and coffee maker, and it was very clean. The breakfast had all the standard stuff plus a personal Omelette station. Very close walk to the Riverwalk and all its attractions!
We had a quick 3 night trip to San Antonio because my son wanted to see the Alamo. This is a great hotel a few blocks from there. Rooms were very clean and the staff was super friendly. The beds were very comfortable. Everything is within walking distance. We appreciated the water in the lobby after a day of walking around too! Breakfast was ok... there are so many great places to eat around San Antonio I would skip breakfast at the hotel. Hoping to return again!
Hotel was clean and very close to everything we wanted to see. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. We were initially put in a room with only shower ... hotel desk agent quickly moved us to a room with shower and tub ... help was quick and with very pleasant attitude. I would stay here again if I go back to San Antonio.
Great location for a great price near the Riverwalk in San Antonio. We were able to walk to all our destinations. The staff knew the area and could offer directions and recommendations. ALL staff members went out of their way to make sure our visit was enjoyable. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to travelers.
This hotel has only been open for six weeks. When we checked in Tyrell was very helpful and kind. This hotel was remodeled from an historic warehouse. The room was smaller than the usually room from a new built hotel. Yet there was plenty of room to move around. The bathroom door slides from left to right. They have free breakfast in the mornings and in the afternoon and at night, they have a bar/eatery. The bartender and cook (forgot their names) we met were very nice and attentive. The general manager David was very nice and made sure we were taken care of. This location was great too, as it was close to the Alamo, Riverwalk , and other attractions. All in a short walk.
The Best Western Premier Historic Travelers Hotel is only three blocks from the famous San Antonio River Walk, and only a short walk from the Alamo. It is a historic building that has been completely renovated and updated while maintaining the integrity of the grand old architecture. The room rates were quite reasonable, the room completely updated and clean, and the staff was friendly. Included was a hot breakfast with continental selections, juices, coffee, milk, waffles, oatmeal, eggs, grits, toast, potatoes, sausage patties, and chef cooked eggs and omelets. It has a fitness center, and indoor pool. There is a hotel bar and restaurant and numerous restaurants, shops, and entertainment choices within walking distance. If you don't feel like walking, the downtown cab fares were some of the lowest fares that I have encountered in any major city. Overall, it is a very good choice for the budget conscious that still offers great value and some perks that put it on par with hotels charging much more. If you intend to spend most of your time seeing the sites, but want good clean comfortable lodging, I would recommend it.
This was a great trip and would stay again at the BW Premiere on the river walk Staff was very friendly and attentive valet was great as well we are looking forward to staying there again in the near future
My children & I were on a cross country road trip & decided to stay here while we visited the Alamo, riverwalk, and six flags. The night we stayed there happened to be their first official opening day! The hotel decor was very modern. Our first floor room was huge & had very large windows with black out curtains which made sleeping in after a long drive easy. There were cushioned benches at the foot of each bed which made getting into our suitcases easy. In addition to those benches their was a comfortable chair by the window. The bathroom door was a very modern sliding style. The bed was very comfortable. The towels were thick & soft. I gave 4 stars though for the tiny pool & having to pay for parking. The pool area was nice with an open sort of sun roof. However, the pool was very small it reminded me of the size of a short length lap pool. It may have been a. It wider though. Breakfast was very well done. I loved of upscale it seemed with glass stemware for the drinks & flowers on each table. We easily walked to both the Alamo & the riverwalk from here. There were also many other shops & things to do. In particular I noticed the Ripleys museum. I would defiantly stay here again.
Supposedly this hotel recently opened. It's an affordable option, very clean, and the staff were very helpful! Stayed here and the Hyatt on the trip - equally happy with both hotels, while this was half the cost!
Although the rooms are Small they are nicely laid out and reminiscent of the old hotel I visited 45 years ago....tears came to me as I looked out the window into Broadway Street at breakfast the next morning......thank you for bringing that memory back to me. Walking distance to everyone I love about San Antonio and my husband loved it too.
Really nice hotel. Has just recently opened after a big renovation. The rooms are small, but this is due to them not being able to change the size of the rooms for historic reasons. Very easy walk to everything. Felt safe all the time. Parking is valet -$22/day...but worth it. Staff is very friendly and helpful! Room was clean...loved that they had a paper over the toilet indicating it had just been cleaned. Also, the remote for tv was in a little bag indicating it had been sanitized. Loved the little extras. Only downfall was the bathroom door. It is a slider and didn't really close properly - always gaps. Clearly not a huge deal since we ended up staying a 2nd night. For sure great value, great location and great stay!
We just recently went for a last minute weekend trip to SeaWorld and chose to stay at this newly renovated Best Western. We loved that you can tell its an older property with some of the original flooring but also updated with a modern feel. The manager, Brandon was so very accommodating and helpful and our room was awesome. We stayed on the first floor and the rooms were decorated very nice and very roomy. Service was great, staff was very friendly and accommodating and Molly in the Kitchen was awesome! Will definitely stay here again.
I love this Best Western! The build is so beautiful but my stay was awesome! You are so close to everything. I was able to just walk to the Alamo and Riverwalk with my family. Everyone one we encountered went out of their way to make our stay memorable. I am planning my next stay in San Antonio and it will be at this Best Western!
This hotel was gorgeous, love the location and design. However, when we walked on our floor it smelled like dog urine, and then walked in the room and smelled like smoke. Might be the age of the building, who knows. Service was great, staff was very friendly!
The hotel just opened. It is a historic building, renovated into a hotel. Interesting features. Rooms are on the small side, but comfortable. The dining crew were friendly and helpful, especially Molly! I was glad to stay at the hotel. Loved our stay in San Antonio.
Brandon was very confused. He had my rooms mixed up at check in and check out. I paid cash for my parking, but it was still on my bill at check out that I never paid. I had to wait 45 mins after check out time in the lobby because Brandon had three other group of people who also had been charged incorrectly. He keep telling us that everything was incorrect because we purchased our rooms on price line. Why put the rooms on price line if you don't want people to buy them. The shower head was leaking. As soon as I pulled the covers back, we found a lot of hair in the bed. We had to wait for someone to change the covers and we were exhausted from traveling. The rooms should be advertised as one bed and only for up to two people. We had a child so we all had to sleep together because there was no sofa or roll away bed. Now, I'm waiting to see if I get a charge on my card because it was so much confusion at check out. Do Not Stay At This Hotel. The rooms are very tiny!!!
We lucked up on this new hotel located about a block from the Alamo that has only been open a couple of weeks. It was sparkling clean, the bed was large and comfortable, the shower was hot and strong, and there were lots of easy to reach electrical outlets. We had a fridge, a microwave, a closet safe, a coffeemaker, a desk and chair. Breakfast was delicious - eggs, sausage, biscuits, toast, cereal, fruit, Texas shaped waffles, coffee and juice. There are lots of public parking lots nearby BUT they are mostly leased and not available to visitors during the week. Valet parking is $20/night which is a bargain for San Antonio. Only one tiny thing that didn't matter to us at all - the room is very small. I don't know if they are all that way, but there's really no space for anything else except the furniture / appliances that are in the room. We come to San A several times per year and stay at a different hotel almost every time, but I will look for this one again next time - especially if the prices stay reasonable.
I am notorious for being lazy to write reviews but the service and style provided by this hotel was amazing. The hotel had literally opened that day so everything was brand new. The bed was super comfy and the room quite spacious. The location to the local attractions is perfect with the Alamo around the corner and the stunning Riverwalk just 5 mins away. Breakfast was basic but fine for your needs. The staff were falling over themselves to make sure we were happy and had a comfortable stay. A big thank you to all. Dean & Betsa from Australia :)
