"Noisy, dirty, old "

Excursion21393026230, Addlestone, United Kingdom 31/01/2023

On Thursday 19th of January I had a room booked for one night via Expedia, on my confirmation there was absolutely nothing about a £14.95 parking charge, but that is not my main complaint. When me and my wife checked into Rm1 at 12.30am we noticed the window could not shut, we alerted the night staff who suggested lifting it up and closing, but unfortunately the window mechanism was broken and this was not possible. The 2nd night staff member then came to check as he didn't believe it couldn't close. After realising the problem he transferred us into rm 205, this room was dirty not the bedding but the carpet walls and side table in the bedroom. As it was already 1am and we had an early start we went to bed thinking we going to get a good night sleep. But oh my goodness! rm 205 was so noisy as it is in the roof and no insulation to keep traffic noise out, we did not sleep one wink but after 4 hrs drive from London dreaded another room move and was told anyway that not many rooms were left that night. So to say we were exhausted after a day in Manchester and driving back to Surrey is a understatement. I can include pictures for your reference PS.I have emailed numerous times to your enquiries email but still no answer.

"Good Location"

Hazel8080, Weybridge 16/01/2023

We had mixed expectations after reading some of the previous reviews. However, we found the Ainscow to be the perfect choice. We have stayed in many Premier hotels which are reasonably priced and consistent in the quality of their rooms. However, we chose the Ainscow for something different but at the same reasonably priced. And because it had its own car park which is a luxury so close to the city. Whilst the carpark was expensive (£14.50 per night), it was convenient. The location is great and on the ring road so easy to find. It takes just 10 mins to walk into Deansgate and you feel reasonably safe walking in the city at night. Check in was smooth, staff are friendly and helpful, nice bar and lounge area in reception although we did not actually use this area, other than to obtain more teabags! Our room was modern, well equipped with the usual items, such as iron, ironing board, hairdryer, tea making facilities. toiletries, etc. The bed was only a double rather than a kingsize and the mattress felt a little tired, but that did not deter us from having a good night's sleep. The bathroom was quite luxurious with plenty of hotwater and modern suite with an overhead shower. It would have benefitted from a loo-brush and a warning that there is a small step before you walk into the bathroom. For the price it was a great little hotel and we would not hesitate to book it again when we are next in Manchester.

"Great position and car parking"

Parking in Manchester is a nightmare if you're stopping over , this hotel has a car park £14.50 a night - ouch ! but at least you are two minutes from Deansgate . Walk across the road through Spinningfields and there you are on Deansgate - really near the centre . The hotel - well I usually put +'s & -"s in a column but really nothing bad to say about this place . Staff are nice and friendly , nice bar , room was good , good shower , slept well (after a few drinks of course) - if I was to be picky , first time finding the car park was a bit of a pain with all the roadworks going on , but that seems to be happening everywhere , besides that - easy to find . The hotel is a 4* and central with a car park which is why I usually stop here for the Christmas Market or a weekender .Prices aren't too bad - go on the Ainscow site rather than Booking.Com - you might get a better deal - we did .

"Not great"

I booked a standard double room bit was given a wheelchair access room with wet room. The Mirrors were too low. Shower area floor was seriously broken and dangerous to stand on as the only thing holding my weight was the lino.. Hair dryer didn't work.

Paul Wadsworth, General Manager at The Ainscow Hotel, Manchester, responded to this review
Dear Mike, Accept our apologies that we don't meet your acceptation. As per your booking you saying you dot disabled room and I really apologize for that & at the time of checkout did you ask for any manager to see because we don't see any notes about it. But once again I really really do apologize that we don't meet to your expectation or make you feel like a home. I would like to welcome back the hotel again and do promise that you will get great service, feel like a home and like a home. Looking forward to see you soon. With Kind Regards, Ahsan Majeed

"Think of an expensive 2.5* hotel as opposed to a bargain 4* for a realistic expectation. Would not book again."

User 24/11/2022

Our room was freezing and when I asked reception about the radiators that didn't seem to work I was told there was 1 temperature for the hotel, my only option was to wear more layers. I think the main building was warmer but some rooms on the edges were markedly colder. I literally had to huddle under the duvet to generate warmth enough to sleep. Speaking of trying to sleep, my bed also had a broken spring (a dip in the mattress with obvious less support and hard bump which digs into your back) which was uncomfortable. I told reception and was thanked for my feedback but nothing changed. The room has lovely high ceilings but that bathroom... It was so, so cold you'd dread having to shower in it and once in you'd dread having to leave the water. Awful. Rooms are cleaned every 3 days so stay conscious of that, coffee/tea/biscuits aren't resupplied and there was no out of hours room service. I was told my best option is a deliveroo. Staff were friendly but the breakfast is very much standard. I think instead of thinking you're getting a bargain 4* hotel, think that you're paying for an expensive 2.5* hotel and you'll have a much more realistic expectation.

Ahsan Majeed, Guest Services / Front Office at The Ainscow Hotel, Manchester, responded to this review
Dear Mr Alec, Once again accept my apologies for the inconvenience you had but as per our phone conversation I would like to welcome you back to the hotel and promise you that you will like a home & want have any inconvenience this time. Just request that call a week in advance so make sure that room is available the date you like come. Looking forward to see you soon. Kind Regards,

"Awful Experience. Gave me an accessible room for a standard double. Wifi didn't work.Gaslighted me after raising concern"

1
User 18/11/2022

Honestly I have never stayed in a 4 stars hotel that looks more like a 2 star. Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had at any hotel I lived in my life. First of all, I booked a standard double room on this website. Upon arrival at 5pm on a weekday, they gave me an accessible room with a double bed. As you can see from the images, the bathroom has no bathtub, no curtain nor anything that separates the shower from the toilet. There is even a grab bar next to toilet. Again, I booked a standard double room, and I'm NOT disabled, but NOT an accessible room. The wifi was also not working in my room. I was able to enter the password and connected to the wifi, but I couldn't use the wifi to browse any website nor watched any videos after that. When I requested to swap room, they told me I had already used the room so there was nothing they could do. I shouldn't have used the bathroom before requesting to swap rooms, but they DID NOT do anything to resolve this problem. The staff (including the receptionist and their manager) were extremely irritated when I raised concern. They didn't apologize for giving me the wrong room, and didn't try to do anything to remedy the situation. They questioned me if I really connected to the wifi properly. They told me they would send someone to fix the wifi, but no one showed up and the wifi still didnt work throughout the entire night! The manager even told me they were fully booked (on a Monday afternoon?), so they asked me to swap rooms the next day since I would be staying there for 2 nights. One of the receptionists even gaslighted me, she told me all rooms on the 3rd floor have no bathtub nor any separation between the shower and toilet). I feel disrespected and gaslighted by the hotel staff, because a toilet with a grab bar has to be an accessible room and it's not my fault that I want to swap room after being given the wrong room. Even if what she said was true, BEWARE!! because that means none of the hotel rooms on the 3rd floor look anything like the photos they posted on the website. There is no bathtub in any of the standard double rooms on the 3rd floor. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL unless you want to pay GBP80-100/ night for a 2 star quality hotel room. I absolutely regretted my decision to book this hotel.

Ahsan Majeed, Guest Services / Front Office at The Ainscow Hotel, Manchester, responded to this review

Very good location, hotel lobby clean, reception staff very friendly. We booked the mezzanine room and regretted it. The bedroom was absolutely stifling and we both struggled to sleep, and we'd left the window open all night whilst we were out. The carpets are very run down, and look like they need replacing, the sofa was pretty horrendous. The bathrooms have clearly been renovated recently - no complaints on that one other than that we were only given one bath towel and one hand towel, which we thought was a bit odd. Bed was comfy. We were only there for a night, and the hotel was very reasonable for the price. We would stay again, think it just needs a bit of TLC!

Ahsan Majeed, Guest Services / Front Office at The Ainscow Hotel, Manchester, responded to this review
Dear Alex, Thank you for your review and score. I have noted your feedback and I do apologies for the shortcomings you have experienced. I have informed the housekeeping regarding the towel complaint and we will be changing all sofa's in January. Thank you and hope you will try us again should you have to stay in Manchester again. Kind Regards,

"No room cleaning!"

thorstenleo, London, United Kingdom 13/11/2022

My second time at this hotel. Staff friendly, BUT: no room cleaning! After the second day without my room being cleaned I inquired at the reception and was told that rooms are only cleaned every three days! For this price tag, quite poor service! And no advance notice!

Ahsan Majeed, Guest Services / Front Office at The Ainscow Hotel, Manchester, responded to this review
Dear Thorstenleo. Thank you for taking the time to provide me with feedback following your recent stay with us. Please accept my sincere apologies for the issues you have raised. I have written directly to you and am looking forward to speaking with you to find a satisfactory outcome. Please be assured we take all feedback very seriously and I am very disappointed that your stay did not provide the high level of satisfaction that as you can see on other reviews we pride ourselves upon. This is our second stay at the Ainscow and it was fine. Room is standard with usual amenities (couldn't find the tea and coffee to start as it was in the wardrobe) and clean, although the carpet could do with a good scrub. The hotel has parking on site which is handy however it is £14.50 per night. The hotel is in walking distance of the city which is one of the main reasons we re-stayed here. It is fine for one night but not sure i'd stay for longer.

"Great repeat stay and we will be back!"

TravelsandScrans, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom 07/11/2022

Stayed here on 4 occasions now & every time this hotel is consistently great. Spacious rooms that are decorated well with big light and airy bathrooms. Staff are kind and efficient and the little bar is a lovely touch. Breakfast has plenty of choice and is worth the extra. Parking is expensive but it is in a premium area so actually affordable.

"VERY RELAXING & AMASING CITY VIEWS"

4
ADVENTUROUSCOUPLETL, London, United Kingdom 01/11/2022

8/10 VERY GOOD APARTMENT, WITH EASILY ACHIEVABLE, 10/10 EXCELLENT RATING Before leaving a review of any kind, I like to give it at least a week or so, to reflect on my experience. Before booking this hotel, I was booked at the "Park Inn by Radisson Manchester City Centre". I then cancelled due to being put off by the bad Trip Advisor reviews for that hotel, of Rude staff at the "Park Inn by Radisson Manchester City Centre". This was a no go for me. That hotel was by far more expensive, so I opted for "The Ainscow Hotel", after reading more bad trip advisor reviews of Park Inn by Radisson. Car parking is a doddle, with free car parking at the rear of the hotel. I chose the "Executive Double Room Apartment" on the 4th floor apartment number 425. This apartment was easily accessible by lift. The problem I had was getting up and down the stairs inside the appartment. I wished they had a second 'banister grabrail' on the stairs to make it easier to walk up & down the stairs. This will only apply to people like me and other who are suffering with degenerative bone condition. This condition makes mobility a struggle. If the hotel would add another banister, it would make a huge difference with assisting people who struggle like me. Better still, I should have booked a room with one level only. This apartment is huge and very clean. I loved the design but wished I had a larger bedroom rather than the much larger "seating area, satellite TV and kitchenette". Another valuable item missing is a cooker in the kitchenette. This accommodation is advertised as "538 feet², Private kitchenette, Ensuite bathroom, Flat-screen TV, Free WiFi" on Booking.com I would have expected a cooker in the kitchenette . Despite not having a cooker, this appartment is very good. I gave it an 8/10 due to the missing bits and more which I will come to later. The bedroom is on the same floor as the bathroom, which also has a toilet, heated towel rails and a shower above the bath. The floor can be very slippery so make sure that you, use the rubber anti slip matt and do not use any oils in the bathroom or else you will go ice skating, followed by a huge fall which may put you in hospital. The bathroom is very clean and modern with spectacular views of the city. The problem I had with the bath was the water pressure. The bath takes a long time to fill up, but once filled it is pure luxury. The bath tub was such, that it was so comfortable to lay in and soak. I could come back to this apartment just for that bath alone. The shower had no chance. One I had used the bath, I did not want to entertain the shower. I am not a lover of cities and much prefer country views but this hotel gave a new meaning to a spectacular city view. I was hooked and stared out of those windows, watching Manchester city activities for hours. To my suprise I found this very theraputic. It relaxed me a lot. I have stayed at "The Wardorf Astoria, New York City," where the city view was breathtaking and must say that this is the first UK city view that has grabbed my attention. What a awesome apartment. Another thing missing is a laptop safe or ordinary safe. The wardrobe is of adequate size for a 3-night stay but if one wants to stay for a much longer period, one will need a larger wardrobe or else one would have to live out of their suitcase. If one is visiting as a single adult, the wardrobe is ok. I am trying to give the most accurate and honest review, based on my experience here. This apartment has the potential to be a 10/10 excellent apartment. I asked myself, would I book this hotel again? And the answer is Yes! But? I came to this conclusion because my checking was a very worrying nightmare for me. I had tried to check in on a Sunday. The Apartment was paid for in advance but, when I arrived at check-in, they asked me for a £25 incidence damage, deposit, which I had no problem giving, but only had cash! The receptionist refused to book me in and I was stuck. I had not seen on the booking.com advert, that the hotel only accepts credit card. I did not know that this hotel took deposits and missed the clearly stated info on Booking.com's booking confirmation. I suffer with bad eye sight so missed this info. Booking.com need to use larger fonts for people with bad vision. Even with glasses, I missed this info. So there I was, stuck in a nightmare situation, having already paid for my accommodation but not allowed to check in due to not having funds on my card and only cash to pay for the deposit. I could not access a bank due to it being a Sunday. Cash is becoming useless these days. I requested to see the manager and she told me that I needed to pay the deposit by credit card for me to stay. I was stuck and did not know what to do. I told her my funds will come in at a later date. She then asks me to give my card details and they will keep the info in case of any damage to the apartment, charging me at a later date. I felt a gasp of relief as I was finally allowed to check in. What put me off here is dealing with a hotel that does not accept cash at all. It is the very fact that one can be shut out even if one has paid for their stay via card. This Hotel is a 8/10 with huge potential, but has a few issues that need sorting out to make it an easily 10/10 stay. I am suggesting to the hotel that they must be: 1. flexible, accept both card/cash, this helps customers and makes it easier for them. 2. Sort out the water pressure in the bathroom, for the hot water tap. 3. Fit a large safe in the apartment. Large enough to fit a large laptop. 4. Fit a 2nd banister to the stairs in the apartment, to help assist people with mobility problems. 5. Fit a cooker in the kitchenette There is one more thing I would like to mention. Sleep quality in the heart of a very noisy Manchester city? The sleep quality is 10/10. I was blown away by the effectiveness of the sound proofing offered by those windows in the bedroom and bathroom. I did and audio noise test, with the windows open and then shut. It blew me away, how much city noise the windows cut out. I will upload this test on YouTube but cannot leave a link on here. You will have to just look out for it. The conclusion for me is.... I would stay again, but if I had the choice to stay in another hotel that accepts both card and cash I would stay there insted but that kind manager who allowed me to check in has made me want to visit again. When someone does me a favour it makes me want to return the favour with another visit. This hotel is great value for money so if someone were to ask me, did the hotel meet my expectations? I would reply, yes based on the Hotel fee I paid. I would like to thank the manager of Ainscow Hotel for allowing me to stay. Great staff and Appartment. I do love this place and the staff. I hope the images and professional videos (which I will be uploading on YouTube) I have provided, attracts more customers this hotel's way.

Comfortable hotel. Nice staff. Quite central. The cleanliness not good. There was one hand towel and one bath towel. Would have expected two? Bath mat, shower and radiator dirty. Found salted nuts on floor. For 4* this was disappointing.

Check-In was prompt as we provided our information online prior to arrival. We headed to our room only to drop off our bags and we were shocked at how bad of a condition this room was in. We felt uncomfortable staying in this room with how unclean it looked. The carpet was stained all over, bed throw stained, and the Sofa was ripped and stained too. Other areas of the room like the Bathroom/Toilet were clean and nice. The communal areas of the hotel are bright and fresh, great selections of drinks and cocktails on the bar.

Paul Wadsworth, General Manager at The Ainscow Hotel, Manchester, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to share your review with Trip-advisor. It was disappointing to read your experience was not 100% satisfactory and for this please allow me to offer my apologies. We are currently identifying areas of the hotel that we feel are not at the levels we would expect and are looking to implement a programme of works to rectify some of the issues found. As mentioned in other reviews, your feedback is extremely important to us and is shared directly with the team to enable us to evolve and improve. I sincerely hope this does not deter you from staying with us again.

Firstly we have stayed at this hotel many times and never had an issue until out latest stay this September. We checked in and the room we had paid over 300 pound for for two nights was disgusting, run down, food or blood on the bed throw dust and hair on bed and dirty marks on carpet We went to complain and although we got a room change we feel the staff on the front desk didn't listen or care about the situation. One Avington on the Sunday we went to check out and asked if there was any further payment and got told no and that our security deposit would be back to us within 3 days. We came home 3 days later no deposit rang them and got told it would be back in the day after. To them notice we had been charged car parking at a rate of 14.50 out of our holding deposit we had asked if there was a further charge when we checked out and they we didn't have anyone further to pay but took it out of our deposit. Very rude staff on the phone one of which even tried telling me we hadn't bee n charged a deposit in the first place. We will never go back even thou we use to love this place it has most certainly gone down hill in the last 3 year

Was impressed with the hotel layout. The outside environment did not seem impressive but the inside was fabulous. Would definitely book again. Breakfast was great. My friend enjoyed it. The kitchen made an omelette specially.

Many thanks for the great review, delighted to know that you enjoyed their visit to the hotel. The team will be very pleased to know that their service has been recognised and whilst the exterior of the hotel may at present not be ideal there are significant works being carried out just alongside the hotel to make the whole experience a more enjoyable one. Once again many thanks and we very much hope you will return to The Ainscow very soon.

"Best western = mediocracy"

User 09/09/2022

I booked this Best Western thinking Europe might have a better class of service compared to that in the US. As it turns out, the BW in the US treats people a lot better. The older Indian woman an the front desk, kept reminding me that since I had booked at a “cheap” hotel, my room would not be ready until who knows when. It was already near 2pm, check in time, but she was too lazy to call housekeeping or take any additional steps to help. The rooms have paper thin walls and you will practically hear other rooms convos as if they were speaking on top of your head. The location is as good as the fake online pics.

Paul Wadsworth, General Manager at The Ainscow Hotel, Manchester, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments and taking the time to feedback your experience at the hotel. As with all reviews we value our guests opinions as this enables us to address any potential issues which are raised from your visit to the hotel. Whilst your experience is not reflective of the high levels in which we pride ourselves, we take all our guest comments very seriously and I have addressed these with our Front Office team both to ensure we review service levels and also to ensure an improvement in standards for the future. Thank you again for your valued comments.

Every aspect; location, staff, cleanliness, room size, parking. Parking is secure within a actual car park attached to the hotel, plenty of spaces I felt. Over the moon with my stay and will likely return. Extremely close to the town centre, not walkable ideally, but a cheap uber does the job that's for sure.

"Unacceptable for the price"

1
User 24/07/2022

Compared to 3 years ago this hotel has deteriorated to a low cost hotel with high prices. Cleanliness and amenities in the room very bad. Although the staff is friendly and cooperative it is obvious that this is a management decision to try and save and in doing so this hotel has gone down tremendously for the worse.

I love this hotel. I think it is a good space. The staff are nice. The rooms are lovely, the building is stunning. The breakfast is gorgeous. They have moved the breakfast room to the basement which is a shame as it used to be in higher up the building with a view. They also have a gym guests used to be able to use. It wasn't a fully equipped one but good for me. They have removed customer access to it now. The food menu contains just pizza now which isn't great as used to have a menu and good food. All that said it's cheap and for the price it's very good quality

Was put in room 1 which is right in front of the window as you walk into the hotel from the carpark where everyone coyod peer in.Had to close the blind to the outside world..then came the insesent loud banging that started at 5am and continues for the next 3 hours..not sure I'd it waa the front or rear door of the hotel opening and shutting but by 8.30am I had had enough and left. Could I have changed rooms..possibly but I wasn't expecting that noise at 5am and as fir the window I have nobexcuse and shoukd have asked. Apart from that the room was ok, clean and tidy.

The Ainscow is an excellent hotel, very clean and well furnished but most importantly the staff are wonderful - friendly, attentive and professional. The hotel is located only a few minutes walk from fabulous bars and restaurants in Spinningfields and it's only 15 minutes walk to the centre of Manchester so really conveniently located. The mezzanine rooms are spacious and excellent value hotel for a Manchester stay. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant (but doesn't need one as there are so many great places to eat nearby) but has a bar with very well priced drinks and offers freshly made pizza to eat in the bar or in your room - really great value and taste. Special mention to Linda in breakfast room (super fresh and well prepared cooked buffet breakfast) who ran a busy breakfast with efficiency and a smile for every guest. Thank you to your everyone who made our stay so enjoyable! (I recommend that you book direct with the hotel for their great offers and book direct extras).

"Pleasant large room, excellent staff"

User 13/05/2022

Room was large and clean, windows opened (all three), loads of hot water for bath, heating effective. Road slightly noisy but didn't disturb me. Area is developing but only 15 mins walk from the centre. Plenty of supermarkets around. Staff were really helpful on advice re taxis, airport queues at Manchester and other matters ...breakfast was good and staff there helpful too.

"Best value for money"

User 21/04/2022

The hotel was situated in the perfect location where the malls and museums were just walking distance. The place was clean and spacious and the staff were very accommodating. Maybe it would be much better if there was a free breakfast included because we paid like £90plus for the room. However, overall was a great experience. I would definitely come back

"Lovely overnight stay, fantastic breakfast!"

Stayed here for one night whilst attending a concert at the arena. Was within good walking distance and close enough to the city centre. The room was a lovely size and really clean. The breakfast was incredible!! Really good for the price would definitely love to stay again when back in Manchester!

Very well located facility just on the outskirts of the city. Helpful staff and excellent service in the lounge and restaurant. The breakfast buffet provided a decent verity to choose from in a warm comfortable environment

"Rude staff & poor service (avoid this hotel)"

1
cyprian k, Maidenhead, United Kingdom 27/03/2022

Had a very poor experience with the staff as they were rude and behaved very badly. Lloyd in particular who was a manager there. We were given ambiguous information about parking charges prior to booking. When arrived we were told it's 14.50 per night. We had an oversight to these charges as the booking went through 3 sites, booking, hotels.com and their own website but the person on the phone from the hotel wasn't specific about the charges. Lloyd was so rude despite having our 50 gbp deposit said that will call the police or tow our car out forcefully. We hadnt refused to pay was clarifying the information. But the staff and the manager was rude and didn't want to listen or hear us out. We gave it up at the end, even though the staff who spoke on the phone agreed it could be misinterpreted. The hotel has no windows and beds are very tiny and uncomfortable Matress. It's tucked away from town in a poor location / rundown area. With such appalling service and staff we will recommend do not visit or book this place. I hope the senior management look at this and take action against Lloyd. Some of other reviews are on the same lines.

"A lovely team in a lovely hotel"

imrees34242, Manchester, United Kingdom 13/03/2022

The Ainscow has everything you need for a nice little break. The team are so kind and accommodating and they are always happy to have a little chat. I was staying as a mix of business/leisure and the hotel is in a great location for Manchester City centre. There's a sainsburys 2 minutes away and plenty of food and drink choices locally. The rooms are well thought out and have everything you need! The bed is so comfy and the whole room and bathroom was spotless!

"This hotel is a budget hotel, travel lodge or premier inn are far superior! I recommend you don't stay here!!!!!!!!!"

AliGCumbria, Cumbria 20/02/2022

How this hotel is rated 4* is totally crazy. I'm not sure what it has been compared to for that conclusion to be reached! The area immediately outside the hotel is dirty and scruffy. The guy on reception looked like he had slept in his shirt, first impressions are so important and ours were just how slovenly the front desk seemed to be. The bar is area is awful! Our room and bathroom were clean which was a saving grace! But we will not be returning.

"Extremely poor customer service"

1
GabriellaKean, Liverpool, United Kingdom 02/02/2022

My friend I booked this hotel with high hopes, after seeing numerous deceiving pictures online and after working out it was literally down the road from Manchester centre; huge mistake. Firstly upon check in, we were greeted by two very ignorant males who without even a basic introduction, told us we would have to pay £14.50 to park. Not a problem, a hello would have been a better start though. We had already had the payment reserved on my card so when he asked for payment, I had no issue handing over the card. We were given a key with no direction to the room, which is again poor. The hallways have a really odd lingering smell, like fried food but stronger, and it's constant. As we were heading out, we decided not to bother the two gentlemen on reception who did not give an impression they would care anyway. The room was extremely hot and there's an uneven floor with quite a prominent step hidden beneath the carpet. It was relatively clean though so we can cope with this. We opened the windows to try and air the room and avoid the smell in the hall entering and staying in our room. We checked out in the morning and asked would we be refunded our deposit, which was confirmed. The next day, another payment now left my account. A new payment of £85 or so. I called the Ainscow as this was from an account used only for pleasure purposes, and this additional payment would put me overdrawn. The receptionist said she would immediately action a 1p charge and refund which would release the pending payment of £97, after I explained my bank had confirmed it was down to the hotel to confirm the pending payment would not be taken. The next day, the payment was still showing on my bank so I called my bank who advised the hotel had still not released it back. I called the hotel to query it and was told it will be done. The next day, now rather frustrated, I called and made a complaint. A manager came to the phone and said she would investigate and call me back if she needed me to send my electronic proof from my bank; later on, a very rude individual called back to say it was not their mistake. I tried to explain that I had spoken with the bank numerous times and show my correspondence but she just spoke over me repeatedly. I told her she had poor customer service skills and was rude to which she hung up the phone laughing. I tried to call back and was ignored 3 times. 20 minutes later she called back and said she was returning the missed calls. I explained I did not wish to speak to an incompetent staff member and would like to further raise a complaint to the manager, who still had not bothered to deal with my original complaint. I am yet to hear anything back. I can accept a smelly room that I will spend very little time in. I can accept a wonky floor. I can accept ridiculous parking charges. I can even accept a poor welcoming. But I think it is an absolute disgrace to have such poor customer service in this case, especially when it could have put me in financial difficulty. I am still waiting for an apology or even a resolution, but I will never stay in this horrible hotel again!

"Short overnight stay in Manchester"

User 31/01/2022

The hotel is a short walk from the city centre with parking on site (additional fee). The room was very spacious and clean - nice to have an ironing board and good wardrobe. The en-suite was lovely. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed and slept very well. The only thing I would mention were the toiletries - only 1 tiny bottle of shower gel (c25ml?) was in the room for 2 guests.

Always friendly, helpful and professional. Food is brilliant, rooms clean and modern. Would recommend. We've been a few times and will keep going back. Situated close to city centre only a 10 min walk away.

"Hidden gem"

5
absnot, Bradford, United Kingdom 16/01/2022

Absolutely amazing. We booked a twin room with no window expecting a tiny depressing room. It was massive and definitely not depressing. Huge room so great for playing on the VR. Very very dark at night so we slept phenomenally. Very warm but does have an AC. The bathroom was also great, we weren't expecting to have a bath included so we're very impressed. Close to a Sainsbury's, an Italian restaurant and a Caribbean takeout (which was amazing). Definitely worth the money, and much cheaper than hotels in the city centre. About a 20 minute walk to Deansgate locks (closer than Manchester Victoria) and it's a 5 minute walk from Salford Central. A bit further walk to the shops etc, but you can easily get a very cheap taxi or you could get the train from Salford Central. We will definitely stay here again.

"Excellent Friendly Hotel"

5
nicks2407, Birmingham, United Kingdom 31/12/2021

Stayed last night. The check in was well organised and staff very friendly arranging a taxi to Old Trafford stadium at our request on arrival. The size of the room was amazing for a Manchester hotel being very clean and welcoming. The bar was still open when we got back from the game so had to have a late beer and sit in the hotel lounge. There was a cooked buffet breakfast with plenty of alternative types of food on offer. The restaurant staff went out of there way to make sure we enjoyed the breakfast also being very friendly. The parking was very secure and would definitely stay here again

"Lovely hotel, great staff"

Stayed for one night. Really convenient location, we walked into town for the afternoon and then returned to shower and returned to town for the evening- just a 15 minute walk We had room 309 which was huge All the staff were friendly and efficient, particularly the lady at breakfast. Will definitely return

"Great boutique hotel! Would Recommend!"

5
Deanobambino, midlands 10/12/2021

Fantastic Boutique in a great location ideal for any trip to Manchester. This was a perfect trip for me and my girlfriend for the Christmas market as within 20minute of the centre for everything you need. The breakfast was tasty and a good selection of drinks from a 24 hour bar if you need anything extra.

"ALL ROUND GOOD VALUE"

Nice size clean rooms, good quality breakfast, reasonable bar prices. reasonable overnight prices for a city centre hotel, polite and efficient staff. Well located for all city centre areas. Covid rules strictly adhered too.

"Good location but noisy."

User 08/12/2021

Good location for exploring the City. Close to the Ivy and bars. Clean hotel. Cabs £10 to MUFC, £12 to MCFC, £17 to Trafford Centre, £7 to Picadily train station. 25 min walk from Piccadilly. If you book, ask for a rear room as we had a front room which looks over the M62. Very noisy all night.

"Great location"

5
saralanning, Benson, United Kingdom 04/12/2021

We booked online and had a choice of rooms. Our room was lovely, clean and plenty of space. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We were visiting family so location was perfect. We were able to walk in to the city centre easily and there is a train station across the road. The main stations are about 15-20 minute walk. We will return. Thank you

"A truly awful room"

2
rikardo35, Chester, United Kingdom 04/12/2021

No windows. I felt like i was in a dystopian nightmare. Bed was tiny. The room was stuffy despite the noisy aircon that came on every few minures. There was a constant gurgling sound from pipes. The chair looked like it had been rescued from a tip. There was only one teaspoon. No art work on the walls. Limited towels for two people. One bedside lamp didnt work, the tv was miles from the bed and no usb sockets. Worst room ever. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly. Shower was good Car park was pokey and cost 14 quid!!

"Staff great but bland hotel with dangerous stairs"

3
Neilcatele, UK 03/12/2021

Staff very friendly and breakfast good but hotel itself bland. You take your life in your hands using the spiral staircase. Lighting poor and no thought to how you use a room- no mirror near a socket to dry hair etc. extensive for what you can get in North Manchester like the Nui Loom. Half the price and near new with free parking.

"Lovely clean hotel with good access to local amenities"

5
Sharon B, Harlow, United Kingdom 29/11/2021

We stayed here for a weekend at the end of November. The hotel was clean and contemporary. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they helped make our trip to Manchester a very pleasant one. We had room 407 was massive. There is a gym and workout classes were going on while we were there but I'm ashamed to say I never attended any !!

"Lovely Stay"

User 28/11/2021

We chose the Ainscow based on a friend's recommendation and we will absolutely be passing on this recommendation to others. Sara on the front desk is so warm and welcoming and was quick to check us in. The hotel was spotless! So clean and tidy and nicely decorated for Christmas. The rooms were better than we had imagined. So clean, so much space and had lots of nice touches. We will definitely stay at The Ainscow again!

"Nice hotel with 5 star staff"

5
User 25/11/2021

Stayed here with my son and chose it based on reviews & cost as all the hotels in Manchester were expensive as there was a Champions League match. It took 15 mins via taxi to the hotel from Manchester Piccadilly Station and hotel is great with 24 hour bar and the staff are nice, friendly & Proffesional. Our twin room was clean and cosy and would stay again.

"Disappointing"

3
User 24/10/2021

Clean comfortable bed however no internet in the room and receptionist said she didn't know how to fix it. No hot water on last morning and plastic trim on shower door was black with dirt although the rest of the room and bathroom were clean. Delicious breakfast.

A lady minute booking made by a friend we were delighted with the ainscow experience. Contemporary hotel, spacious rooms, great staff and late night bar. Location was good for spinngfields and Piccadilly. Will be back

"Great location - very average room"

3
regulartraveller823, London, United Kingdom 21/10/2021

The room (207) was quite large and on two levels with a spiral staircase up to the sleeping area - but it had hardly any furniture in it and was completely characterless, dingy and nothing like the pictures on the website at all. In the sleeping area there was no furniture apart from the bed and two bedside cabinets - nothing else. If you unpacked your bag you had to put your clothes on the floor. There was no wardrobe and so the iron and hairdryer and spare pillows had just been left on the floor. The bed was only three-quarter size when there was ample space for a larger one. In the downstairs area there was a very worn sofa bed a desk and a worn chair - nothing else, and there was nothing on the walls - they were just bare. The room was dark (not helped by light bulbs being blown) and just depressing. It was as if the old furniture from a very small room had been just plonked in a large room. There was a television on each level, but neither of them had been mounted straight. On the plus side, the location of the hotel was good and a 15 minute walk into the city centre and having a car park adjacent to the hotel in a city is always a bonus. The staff were friendly and helpful and the bar was a nice place to sit - just as well as our room wasn't! The hotel was very clean.

"Excellent Hotel"

Throughly enjoyed my stay at the Ainscow. Could not fault anything from the staff to the quality of amenities. Would most definitely return and recommend to others. The rooms are spacious and beds are super comfy.

"Very noise room, no sound proofing"

1
981mandyt, County Dublin, Ireland 03/10/2021

We stayed at the hotel last night and had a very noisy and sleepless night due to the noise levels in the hotel of other guests. We also noticed that the sound proofing was less than ideal. The guests in the room next to ours were playing loud music, banging on the floor and around their room which woke us up at around 2am when they came back in from their night out. We had to go down to Reception twice to ask them to speak to the guests. The guests were clearly not interested and had no respect for anyone else in the hotel. We also noticed that the room phone was not working so had to go down each time to speak to reception. We received no apology or acknowledgement when checking out.

"Single night stay."

3
amyhearn97, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom 21/09/2021

My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night while we were in Manchester for a gig. The location is great in terms of being within a half an hours walk to the city centre, plenty of shops and restaurants around whilst walking towards the city centre and the hotel was easy to find using google maps. The hotel take a £25 security deposit upon checking in and then just deduct the parking charge (£14.50 I think) but the car park was very secure and we felt fine leaving the car over night. Our room was a great size with everything we could've really needed. Hairdryer, iron, kettle, tea/coffee, a fan etc. Very spacious room and did more than enough for the one night we needed it for. My main issue with the hotel is the fact that the bathroom didn't have a door, and although I was staying with my girlfriend, we found it rather uncomfortable showering etc. with literally no door and the bed being right outside the entrance to the bathroom. Again, the pressure of the shower was great but our temperature knob was broken and fell off as soon as we tried to change it so we were stuck with quite a hot shower. Another issue is that we booked a double room, and the preference was a double bed but our bed seemed to be two singles together with a big sheet over the two. Over all it did the job for a single night but any longer and these things may of been a bigger issue. The young girl on the desk who checked us in and out was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The front desk and the bar are open 24 hours if either are needed.

"Lovely stay at The Ainscow"

5
HollyVeronica, United Kingdom 18/09/2021

First impressions were great with a lovely reception and bar when you walk in. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Our room was lovely and a good size with all amenities we needed and comfy beds. Plenty of space in the car park. We didn't walk into Manchester so not sure how long it would take but it was only a short taxi journey

"Worst hotel of all time"

1
User 11/09/2021

When coming back to the hotel by myself, I was on the phone and irritated about something entirely external to the hotel, and the man at the reception cornered me and demanded that I prove to him that I stayed at the hotel, despite not asking anyone else to do this. When I asked why I was being selected, another receptionist jumped in and claimed that everyone is asked to prove that they are staying here, despite that not being true. When I pointed this out and showed my key card, the managers were still horrible and rude and laughed at me when I asked to understand why I was the only one selected. Do not stay if you value being treated like a human being or like polite staff. The staff treat you like muck on the side of the road despite being paying customers. Worst treatment I have ever received from a hotel in my entire life. I will never stay here again and I would ABSOLUTELY not recommend staying here.

"Pleasant staying at the Ainscow Hotel"

5
julio_afonso522, Manchester, United Kingdom 28/08/2021

Booked two nights at the Ainscow Hotel for a short Staycation. The entire booking process was quite easy through Booking.com. Did the check-in online a few days before, arrived at the hotel and did not had the wait too long to get my room key. I booked the mezzanine room (325) due to be somewhat spacious, I am not comfortable with small rooms. Restaurant, Kitchen and bar are available. . The hotel: Modern building, clean and good access expect the main entrance, no wheelchair access. - The staff: Very respectful, professional, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. - The mezzanine room I was in is spacious, the spiral staircase bit narrow since I'm quite muscular and the they wobble a bit, the steps are slight narrow. Downstairs there's a bathroom, some cupboards, kettle, unfortunately no mini refrigerator a small sofa bed and a tv. Upstairs a bathroom with shower, the bed is quite comfortable, TV screen (2 tvs both share the same remote). And need to say with honesty that the carpets are in desperate need of a full cleanup and good washing, there's bit of an odour coming from the carpets. Downside is the noise coming from the room above, the floorboards make a lot of noise when people are walking back and forth. - Wi-Fi available however somewhat unstable, good connection for about 5 minutes, then disconnects for a few seconds then back again, so if you are planning work from the room and use a company laptop it can become challenging. - Good road access to Salford and Manchester City Centre, carpark available however not free. I honestly recommend this hotel, I had a good staying and will book again.

My wife and i stayed for 2 nights 17/08/2021 till 19th this was our second visit to the ainscow our room was great it was very big couldnt fault it the bar and reception were both open 24hrs. What made our stay even more enjoyable was the lovely Meghan behind Reception she always met you with a smile and nothing was too much trouble ,she was always prepared to go that extra mile for the guests. Meghan was the Fifth star for the 4 star Ainscow. We will be going back again very soon.

"Good value for money, great breakfast."

4
Carrie C, Chelmsford, United Kingdom 14/08/2021

We got a great room upgrade and all my requests were granted. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Good coffee and tea facilities in the room. Nice big bathroom and separate toilet was a bonus. Breakfast was very good with an excellent choice. I would go there especially for the mushrooms and bacon. Security at night was good. Beds were reasonably comfortable and lighting nice. Unfortunately there was only one hand towel in the toilet and none in the bathroom. There was hidden dirt in nooks and crannies and the bed was not turned down for the second night or the bins emptied or loo roll replaced or coffee facilities refilled. I thought that was sloppy. Also the blinds didn't keep out all the light resulting in early wake up in the summer. However, this was good value for money and the breakfast well worth the visit.

Overall the hotel was incredibly clean and modern !! But it was the staff that made it even better !!!… they was welcoming and went above and beyond!… I'm type one diabetic and ran out of hypo treatment at 3.00 in the morning where two members of staff jumped to my aid once I asked for help !!….. I'm We will be staying at this hotel again and highly recommend this hotel for anyone after a adventure of the town for an incredible price!!!

"Poor customer service"

Impossible to get hold of anyone via phone or email to discuss booking. Despite numerous calls to the hotel, the phone was never answered and no-one responded to my messages asking for a call-back. If you need to contact the hotel for any reason prior to your stay, then this is not the hotel for you!

"Bugs all over room"

1
User 26/07/2021

Me and my partner stayed here for my birthday as I thought it would be a good choice as I've stayed her 3 times previously checking in to the room was fine but once we had got to the room we had realised there was thousands of bugs on the Ceiling walls windows and desks we had notified the man on the desk and he said they are too full to move our room but could tomorrow the only thing we could do was spray the room with a toxic bug spray and leave the room once entering the room again all the bugs where dead on our clothes the bed furnishings our suitcase and bath it was 2am and they came to change the bedding as there was dead bugs all over the bed especially we was told we would get a full refund for 1 night although I feel it should have been for the full stay as this completely ruined my birthday celebration it is now a week on and we have not got a refund after being promised a refund we have phoned several times over this past week to get nowhere with them I am so disappointed as this was my favourite hotel to stay at in Manchester

"No AC!"

4
User 17/07/2021

Lovely spacious rooms and suites. Here with wife and 2 late teenage children. Great staff. Great breakfast. Apart from the juice coming in individual small children's cartons. Because COVID. Looks like cost saving. BUT NO AC!!!!!! Hottest weekend of the year. Really surprised in a building of its age they decided to omit the AC. They know it's a problem as there is a fan in every room. Windows only open a crack and loads of road noise in room 414 from the road all night. We wouldn't stay here again due to the lack of AC.

"Travelling alone and felt safe and comfortable"

5
User 09/07/2021

Absolutely excellent! I am a girl travelling alone in a city I didn't know and was a bit nervous when I got here but straight away I felt safe and secure. For the price the room is the best I've stayed in. There is parking on-site (additional £12.50) and there is a gym on-site (basement floor) and tea and coffee in the rooms with cookies! Iron and hairdryer also available. The bedroom was really big and spacious and the bathrooms are really nice! The vegetarian breakfast was superb! They had all the trimmings including vegetarian black pudding and the man on front of house was so friendly and attentive. What a wonderful hotel! Thanks!!

"Fab hotel with great facilities"

Great hotel, good location and real value for money. The rooms were spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. We would stay again. The car parking facility is good £12 for an overnight stay and it's in the grounds of the hotel. It was my first stay at a BW hotel and I was impressed.

"Great value, great staff, great hotel"

5
funkytraveller1111, Liverpool, United Kingdom 23/06/2021

The Ainscow is a lovely hotel just minutes walk from Spinningfields which is full of great bars and restaurants as well as some high end shopping. The hotel is immaculately clean and well looked after. The only maintenance issue we had was reported and dealt with well. The staff are friendly and professional. It's a great location with on site car parking (reasonably charged) and only twenty minutes walking distance from Manchester City centre if you want to go that far. The Ainscow breakfast is fresh and service excellent. There is no full restaurant for dinner (so many good restaurants on the doorstep though you are spoiled for choice in Spinningfields so no issue with that) but offers pizza and bar drinks in the bar/lounge with really great prices for drinks - offering bottle wine from £12.50 when we stayed which is very good value. This is our second stay and we will always book the Ainscow for our Manchester visits.

"Was nice but could have been better"

3
Scenic44973565984, Manchester, United Kingdom 02/06/2021

The main room was really big however it was a shame that the bed was a small double when I requested the bigger bed and that the tv was so tiny and far away. For a bigger room you expect a bigger tv. The room was really clean and tidy however the air con in the room wasn't working which meant the room was boiling even with the windows open. This would have been a really good review if it wasn't for the bath/shower, the bath walls were high up and made it really difficult to get out when the bath floor was wet, there is nothing to grab on to in order to help and due to this I fell when getting out and ended up with a bruise across my arm.

"Honest review of stay"

joshuadmpritchard, Bolton, United Kingdom 24/05/2021

The room and all amenities were fantastic and perfect. The staff were kind and friendly and helped as much as they could. The room was way too hot, there was noise above and we struggled to sleep there. The relatively late checkout was great.

"Ok"

3
Jollyholidaze, Reading, United Kingdom 23/05/2021

Reasonable location within walking distance of Spinningfields restaurants and Deansgate for shops and the car park was a bonus £12 for the night felt pretty reasonable. The room was below par - bit bland and basic, tatty paint work with chips and scratches and the windows were hard to open and close. The shower was barely more than a drip which is a pet hate, I never understand why it's so difficult to get a good shower! Breakfast was poor - coffee was awful, the waiter tried to charge us even though it was included in the room rate. Most of the cooked items were either cold or lukewarm. All in all - functional at best for a night. Not somewhere I'd be looking to come back to.

"Very clean and good parking"

5
User 09/11/2020

The reception area and bar was very clean, and the staff were very welcoming. Enjoyed drinks purchased from the bar in our room due to covid closing the seating area in the bar but it wasn't a problem! Parking is great. The breakfast was pretty simple but still something for everyone. I've stayed a few times over the past year and always nice. Rooms are very modern and bathrooms spacious. Love the fact it's so close to spinningfields. Quiet rooms available too. Definitely stay again.

"Nothing to shout about."

3
topboy_jonny, Huddersfield, United Kingdom 16/10/2020

We visited Manchester for my 31st. The hotel is easy enough to find, parking was secure on site. Don't use booking.com and ring the hotel instead as their price with parking is cheaper than booking.com. Reception is nice and clean and staff seem pleasant. We booked a suite for two nights at £160 and it's no thrills at all. Room is quite bland and there's no real character. The windows struggle to close. The room was dusty though, the bedside phone was especially dusty, you'd not expect this if the rooms are cleaned to Covid standard. The couch had crumbs on it and it was disgusting if you lifted the cushions so we didn't sit on it. Also they use really cheap and poor quality toilet paper. The lamps were also very dusty. We didn't bother with breakfast at this place even though it was included. No vegan options at all, when asked when booking the staff just shrugged it off... First hotel we've stayed in for a long time that haven't gotten some plant based milk or vegan option in for breakfast. We ordered from pret and had Uber eats deliver. All in all, I don't think we'd stay here again but for the price we felt it was good for two nights but we did expect alot more.

Everything was fine apart from the lack of proper breakfast and Mark's on the carpets and bed linen. Staff was fine, location was good, toilet and bedroom were fine and the room had all the usual equipment

I stayed at The Ainscow. We weren't entirely sure what to epxect post Covid-19 lockdown but needn't have worried. You could tell the hotel and it's staff had gone a long way to ensure the highest standards of safety for it's guests. Room was spacious, clean and quiet. This helped us feel very comfortable before out trip out to city centre which was also very enjoyable.

I am a best western for two main reasons, firstly there front of house staff who always give a genuine warm friendly welcome not a trade one like other hotels and they are also very knowledgeable about their town/city they will know the quickest, cheapest easiest way to do anything, and secondly the best western hot buffet breakfast it is the best in the business so I was more than disappointed to find on checking in that the kitchen was closed(no explanation given) and only a continental breakfast would be served I feel in circumstances like this the hotel management could do more to offer guests a hot breakfast may be by doing a deal with a local pub that serves breakfast, and secondly the lady that checked me in was warm and welcoming but after going to my room to freshen up I then returned to reception and asked the man at the desk for directions to Salford quays he did not know the way and had to use Google maps as it turns out Salford quays was only 1.6 miles from the hotel how did he not know where one of Manchester's biggest attractions was,on a more positive note my room at the hotel was very spacious and very nicely equipped the hotel was located near all the things you want to see and local buses were very near to the hotel, and as a nice touch the hotel had waived parking fees for July which saved me £13 which paid for my hot breakfast elsewhere.

Probably the best of the Best Western hotels I've stayed in. It's modern, perfectly located and has excellent staff. We had a night out planned in the Spinningfield area of Manchester which was just over a 5 minute walk away. Drink prices are reasonable at the hotel, parking was £12 and the breakfast was excellent. Room was large (407) with great views of the city A no brainer to stay again when we return to Manchester Highly recommended

"Reasonable location but pricey for what it was."

After reading several reviews I was a little bit worried about staying here. We chose the hotel as the location to the opera house was only a 10 minute walk away which is why we were staying as we was watching a show there. The hotel has on-site parking which is a plus while staying at the city. The reception staff were friendly, the bar area is okay, we only use the restaurant for breakfast which was quite basic. As someone has mentioned before the hallway carpets were filthy but on the day that we left they had somebody cleaning them with a carpet cleaner. Upon arrival the reception staff were friendly and we were provided a free upgrade to a suite. The room was okay it had a television for the bedroom and a TV in the living area with some chairs, that being said I would say that the rooms were pretty basic and I expected more for the money that we paid. Our room 406 also happened to have a iron burn in the carpet. Not what you want for the amount we paid. It's a good location about a 10 minute walk to the Opera house and we even walked up to the Manchester University Museum this probably took about 40 minutes to walk. If you're looking for a little bit more than just a hotel I wouldn't probably stay here but that being said I would recommend someone to stay here if they just wanted a base to then go out and see the sights. Overall we were happy with the stay but the room for what we paid was a little basic, all staff we come across were friendly and the rooms were clean

"not bad for the price"

I am sure in a different room, for the money would be great. I never pass comment or make a fuss but from the disinterest at checkin, to the dirty corridor carpet, to the room with a lift shaft practically in it and the worst shower ever, yes could hear the floor announcement, this didn't feel 4*, but for the price we paid just outside the ring road was ok.

Stayed over at The Ainscow Hotel and I was really happy with the stay. Check in was so smooth and the receptionist was lovely. We paid for a suite on the top floor and the room was incredible, not what we expected (it was better) We had so much space, 2 toilets, 2 tv's, little kitchen area and the bed was so comfortable that I could of slept for days! We decided to eat in the bar area. I had a steak and my boyfriend had the Cajun chicken and we both shared the halloumi fries and the food was very delicious. There was a good choice in drinks and the cocktails were lovely. The bar staff/waiter/waitresses were very friendly and professional. The lounge was very quiet which was perfect as we could relax more as we ate and had a drink. Breakfast was quiet which once again meant we could relax. There was lots of options including continental and hot breakfasts which were all very delicious and the breakfast staff were friendly and lovely too. Overall, I had a really lovely night away and would 100% come back in the future. I didn't want to leave!!!!

"Clean, receptionist very unclear"

Hotel was clean and situated in a nice area. Upon arrival I was charged an extra £25 and the receptionist did not make sense. I didn't want to make a big deal as I was with someone else. They had upgraded my room without permission and I was not happy.

The hotel was nice but the woman behind the desk had somewhat of a bad aura about her attitude. Was not in any way shape or form interested or willing help.Apart from that the bar staff and restaurant service was top class and a credit to the place. They was really happy and willing to go the extra yard for you.The food was top class and lovely room.

Stayed here for business as we couldn't get our preferred choice due to a large show and football. The hotel has parking which was a big plus point. The benefits - parking, friendly staff, lovely meal in the restaurant. The downside - we had rooms without windows! Apparently this was our mistake when booking. I had a huge room with air con but even with that on in jan And all radiators off it was stifling! The others had the same issues. Good amenities and would stay again if I had a window next time

"Do not recommend. Rude staff. very unhelpful and incompetent"

User 20/01/2020

The staff at this hotel are rude and incompetent of their job role. As a service advisor the role requires you to be friendly, understanding and helpful, none of these qualities their staff have. I needed help requiring my booking and the service I received was terrible. Even the manager couldn't help. Do not stay - I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Great hotel with a modern twist close to the City Centre"

Stayed at the Ainscow for a weekend in December 2019. The hotel is very clean and modern. The room was really big and much better than your regular hotel room. The room also had high ceilings an lots of windows giving the room an airy feel. The hotel is really well positioned close to train stations, the Spinningfields district and the Deansgate area of Manchester. The staff are very helpful and there is also secure on site parking for approx £12 a day.

We thought this was a great hotel in a good location with excellent facilities. Requested a ground floor room which we were given and during our 2 day stay all staff were very helpful. Breakfast had a really good choice and speciality options that could be ordered and the bar which we returned to late both nights was well stocked.

I stayed at the ainscow hotel with my best friend for girly night in Manchester. The decor was modern and inviting, the staff were very helpful and the room was very accommodating and spacious. We had the ainscow platter which was delicious! And enjoyed some bubbly. After a night in Manchester we returned to out hotel room with tv,aircon and the softest sheets. I would definatly stay again!

This hotel was really really good only reason it hasn't got excellent is the shower was a bit miserly not much power but the water was nice and hot, like numbskulls we hadn't booked anywhere for dinner and couldn't get in anywhere and finished up having a meal in the hotel and the steak I had has gone in my top ten of steak meals ever!!and believe me I've had a few,the starter was excellent too (bury black pudding) staff were extremely friendly and nothing too much trouble the location was also brilliant I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family and will have no hesitation booking again very pleased also the pantomime which was in the opera house down the road was really excellent.

"Very Enjoyable Stay"

We had a very pleasant overnight stay for a night out in Spinningfields. The staff were very welcoming at reception, and the bar and cleaning staff all friendly. We had a double room with a mezzanine floor which was very impressive, beautifully furnished & spotlessly clean. The only downside was some late noise from an upstairs room. It was competitively priced compared to similar hotels & we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

"No Privacy"

I cannot rate a hotel where you have a ground floor room and there is a pathway directly past your window !!! Which isn't obvious till to see people walking past and looking in your room . This meant we had to keep our Roman blind closed 24/7 . At the very least the hotel should respect privacy and put up net curtains as other hotels do . This was mentioned by other customers in 2018 and nothing has changed which makes me think is there an ulterior motive ?
