"So nice!"

We loved this hotel. The staff were among the friendliest we've encountered. The room was clean, the breakfast was good, the internet worked, and we felt safe and comfortable. I highly recommend staying the 30 minutes outside of St. Louis--for affordability and hospitality. The town of St. Charles is an absolute gem.

"A two-star hotel that deserves no more than 1 star--if that!"

I stay two nights here with my Road Scholar group of 34 people. PROS: Nice staff Good breakfast CONS: No shuttle from St. Louis Airport (I had to pay $18 plus tip for a 10-minute ride!) This is a CHINZY hotel, for sure, and the WORST Best Western I have ever stayed in. Only 1 small bar of soap in my room at check-in. No shampoo and no body lotion. As written above, a CHINZY hotel. So I had to beg for more soap and a bit of shampoo. After returning to the hotel at 8:45 pm, and a long, long day on the road, BOTH elevators were broken. I pressed the elevator button for my room (No. 609) at least 15 times, but nothing. So I had to walk up 6 floors. I'm only 75, but some people in my group are in their 80s. Tough luck: WALK UP the stairs. Two older women were in scooters; I have no idea how they got to their rooms. I hope no one had a heart attach going up those stars. Probably I will not get my Best Western reward points for staying here because of this terrible hotel review, but I wrote the truth. I SHOULD get double points, but oh well... I most DEFINITELY would NEVER, NEVER----EVER stay at this hotel again!!!

The front desk was wonderful. Very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and current. We didn't make it to the pool but it was busy. There were shops and restaurants walking distance and a hotel discount was accepted at the Texas Roadhouse.

Very clean and comfortable. Front desk agent was extremely helpful and accommodating. My room was extremely spacious and the pillows were wonderful! Walking distance to a fee different restaurants. Breakfast was really diverse and delicious! Would definitely stay here again!

"Nice facility with great service"

Although close to the highway, this hotel was quiet and comfortable. The staff was excellent - friendly and helpful. The breakfast was quite good! The room was spacious and well-equipped with great WiFi. The bed was a little soft for me, but my wife slept well.

Greeley, I wanted to take a quick minute to let you know that you have one of the most fantastic customer service orientated employees I've ever had the pleasure to come in contact with over my 35 yrs of business travel. I not only had an excellent stay this week at your hotel, but had a remarkable morning each and every day singlehandedly because of Susan in the food court. In an effort to be succinct I will sum her up at “FABULOUS”…. I am a managing director with a fortune 50 company that covers KS-KY-MO and know all too well how important a smiling face and pleasant interaction is to any customer experience, and she did both with ease. I am currently in between house moves relocating from Fla and staying at various hotels in the meantime going home on the weekends. After this experience, I have decided to stay with your property next week and beyond due to her starting my day off perfect each and every morning this week. "Very nice hotel"

I used this hotel as the final hotel while I was riding the Katy trail. It is not too far from the trail. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was also pretty good. They did have a laundry where I washed my bike clothes.

The staff at this hotel was very positive and welcoming and went out their way to help us with directions and requests. The location of this hotel is really convenient for historical downtown St. Charles: food, shopping and the interstate. If we ever come back to St. Charles, we will stay here.

"Pretty good hotel"

Nothing bad, but nothing really outstanding. Breakfast was typical hotel fare - waffles, fruit, biscuits and gravy, cereal and such. The room was okay. The beds were probably the softest we had on our entire trip and the water pressure was just okay. The worst thing was the toilet - it felt like it was on the floor.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. It's in a good location --close to the Main Street shops and restaurants as well as to the casino, and right next door to Texas Roadhouse and Bass Pro Shop. The hot breakfast was wonderful, and included things like scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, home fries, waffles, as well as yogurt, fruit, cereal, coffee and juices. The indoor pool and fitness room were a plus, and, for a small fee, we were able to bring our dog along. As gold members, we received a very nice welcome bag with snacks and drinks. The service desk employees, especially James Anderson, were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

The property was centrally located for our visit to St. Charles and St. Louis. Very convenient to the airport. The best part of our stay was the afternoon desk clerk Le Choun. He made our stay so much fun, by his pleasant smile and accommodating us.

The Best Western Plus The Charles was a good location for our event. We were pleased with the clean and comfortable room and breakfast. Every staff member we encountered was helpful, polite, and seemed to enjoy their job, no matter what position they served. The breakfast hostess was clearly a 'morning person' who enjoyed seeing guests in morning. The breakfast options were nice and the food I had was good. Check-in and check-out was easy. The pool water was a little cold and there is no hot tub or spa, but it was still in a nice atmosphere. The exercise room was nice, and the fire pit was a very nice surprise. We were a little disappointed there was no shuttle service from the airport; fortunately, we had family members in town to pick us up.

We stayed here for a family wedding weekend. Very convenient location to many things. Wish the parking lot was lit up more and it would feel safer at night. We liked staying here. Breakfast was pretty typical for a hotel of this type with a few hot foods as well.

"Great hotel in a convenient location"

The hotel is convenient to the highway, Main Street, and several restaurants. Texas Roadhouse in right behind the hotel if you don't want to drive anywhere. Check-in was very smooth. The girl at the front desk was friendly and helpful. She gave us restaurant suggestions and provided us info on the shuttle. The shuttle was convenient and Anthony, the shuttle driver, was great. Also, the hotel is close enough to Main Street to walk back and forth. It is an easy walk and seemed safe enough. The rooms are clean and the beds were comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

"Trouble checking in with a confirmation number."

The check in was bad. I had a confirmation number and they stoll could't find it. Finally after a little over 1 hour on phone. The gentleman behind the desk called someone and they finally found it. They gave us a little discount but I think it should have been free.

"Very Relaxing After a Long Day of Driving"

The B/W in St. Charles, MO as suburb of St. Louis is an easy off and on to Interstate 270. It was a welcomed quiet motel even thought it is situated close to the Interstate after a long days drive. The check-in staff was friendly and up-graded us to a better room because of our diamond level. The breakfast was quite good with a nice selection of hot and cold breakfast items. The pop corn in the lobby during early evening hours was very welcomed. There looked to be a nice out door patio area just off the indoor pool for when the weather is warmer for a nice get-together spot.

First time at the Charles Hotel but it won't be the last . Very accessible from I 70. James at check in was very personable and took his time to make sure we were informed of all services and amenities . Numerous dining options are within walking distance. Easy access to westbound I 70. Will stay again.

Lovely Hotel, good size rooms, good breakfast, but a little far out for convenient trip into Saint Louis. There is a pool and a good restaurant close by. As a stop over it serves very well. Free coffee and popcorn little extras added to make your trip more enjoyable.

A great place, clean and updated. Good value and a safe environment. James at the front desk was great and Jim in reservations couldn't have been better. A great stay once again and we will be back again when we are traveling through this area!

The first room we checked into was either occupied by someone or it was not cleaned. We got our keys went up with all of our stuff, opened the door the bed was slept in and the tv and lights were on. I don't know if there was someone in the bathroom or if it was not cleaned. Glad we didn't walk into someone. Kind of put a into our romantic night away.

We stayed at Best Western Plus The Charles Hotel for one night, a Saturday night. They were booked full, but we didn't hear any noise in the hallway, the bed was great, the room was spacious and the breakfast had a great selection and lots of room in the dining room. "Family stay in queen suite"

This was a great hotel. We were traveling through with kids. The queen suite was huge with separate bedroom and living area. And it had two bathrooms! It worked perfect for our family of 5. James A. at the desk was awesome! He was friendly and helpful!

We go the suite I was surprised in how big the rooms were it was nice and clean the desks people were very good too and beds were soft will back next time we come up this way we like to come up this way a couple times a year it's really nice area Lots of stuff to do around the area

"MercyMe Concert/Get away weekend"

As soon as I walked in the door of the Hotel it felt like home. El Chan at the front desk was amazing in his professionalism and letting us know about the shuttle to and from the concert. it is so nice to have a friendly smile greet us! Anthony was our driver and he was so kind and courteous and dropped us off and was waiting there for us when the concert was over. We didn't not have to drive, fight to park at all. We felt like royalty! Those are 2 employees that are the reason we are planning our next trip very soon. The hotel was very clean and charming.

I am currently staying in this hotel while I am in St. Charles on business. I have stayed here before and returned for a second visit. I must compliment James at the front desk. He is so pleasant, always helpful and extraordinarily concerned with providing the guests with superior service. He is also very personable and friendly.....a definite asset to this hotel. My room is clean; the bed is comfortable; and there are plenty of outlets for plugging in all of those electronic devices everyone carries now. The included breakfast is not a total "WOW" but it is quite adequate and plentiful. This is definitely a good place to stay and, as a woman traveling alone, I am completely comfortable with this location's safety and security.

"Pleasant and clean hotel! "

We are never sure what to expect when traveling with our small dog, but what a pleasant surprise this hotel was! We were greeted by James, who is efficient and hospitable. And he even offered a treat to our travel weary dog. The room was immaculate, and beds and pillows comfy. Breakfast was good. This was a great value and we'll definitely put this on our list of repeat visits as we travel between GA and CO. Very pleased!

So popular they need more elevators! and rightfully so, very pleasant , quiet at night, exceptional provided breakfast! others were good, this location for us was great! comfortable queen beds not full size masquerading to make the room look larger.

This is a very nice hotel. The room was very clean, pool was warm and clean also, and the breakfast was by far the best I've seen (tons of items). The staff is beyond friendly and curtious! The front desk attendant, El-Chan, was professional, friendly, and very helpful.

"Friendly staff, quiet stay, delicious breakfast"

We were traveling out West and needed a place to stop for the evening. We booked The Charles Hotel while on the road and when we arrived we were greet by friendly gentlemen at front desk that accommodated our request to be on upper floor at end of hallway. The room was clean and spacious. Very quiet night sleep which was needed after long day of travel. The next morning I went for a run and realized that very close to historic St Charles for those interested in visiting the area. The breakfast was great with typical hotel offerings and a few extras like bacon and eggs. I would recommend if needing a relaxing quiet place to sleep.

In my travels I have dealt with wit, humor, dower faces, surliness, rudeness, ignorance and most other annoying habits from those at the desk. Not so here at the Charles Hotel (Best Western Plus) James met us. I don't believe there is a more knowledgeable, kinder, more thoughtful, efficient, quick or harder working man alive who can multi-task with the best. What a delight to find someone who seemed to enjoy his job, was great at his job and wanted, sincerely, to have his guests enjoy their stay. Marvelous to have met such a fellow. Would come back to this hotel just to greet him again and have him extend his brand of hospitality.

"Relaxing"

The hotel was in the center of a shopping plaza. It had restaurants around and all the stores were in walking distance. It was easy to plan our day knowing we could go eat right outside our hotel if we didn't want to travel far.

This was my 3rd visit and each time have had exceptional service and professionalism. James and the other front desk staff are awesome. He goes above and beyond to address any question or concern. The rooms are very clean and beds comfortable. Very nice breakfast selection and staff. Very friendly and welcoming. I was there 4 days for a meeting and felt very safe and comfortable the entire time. Very close to wonderful dining areas as well. I plan to stay here any time I am in the area. Very quiet facility.

Our room was spacious and comfortable if you slept in a bed. The pull out sofa sleeper was terrible. Breakfast area was well stocked and clean with lots of room. Fitness area and pool were also nice. Katie at the front desk is great.

We recently stayed at "The Charles" for one night as a little family getaway. We booked because of the low price and decent reviews. I would say that this hotel is trying to be "fancier" than it actually is. The completed renovations (hallways, lobby) look really nice, but the building just feels old, somewhat run-down and a little dirty. The rooms do have ample floor-space. We were promised a King room by the employee at the front desk, only to wait for the incredibly slow elevator, open our door and find a 2 Queen room. Not a big deal - but it seemed funny since the employee made such a to-do about being able to get us a King room. Breakfast was average, and the pool was well-maintained. Probably wouldn't stay here again though.

Very clean and friendly staff. Loved staying in the jacuzzi tub king suite, the jets were perfect after a long day of driving and for a great price. The staff was very friendly to our dog and offered treats upon arrival.

Pretty low-end for the price. Won't stay there again. We go that way 3-4 times per year but will seek something nicer next time. Roomwas noisy, dingy and smelly. Staff was great, helpful and courteous, but room was sub-par

I stayed at the Best Western Plus Motel in St. Charles Missouri for Oktoberfest and I absolutely LOVED my stay! The opeopl here were so very kind from the beginning. At check-in Katie was marvelous and kind with giving me a map of the area and telling me the run-down regarding restaurants and such. El-Chan helped me out when I needed extra towels by sending Alberto (very sweet). I travel a lot and have never had this kind of service. Even just on the elevators, talking to housekeepers was something I looked forward to! Dashanae and Markesha both were very entertaining and pleasant. Please give all of these hard workers raises!! the only problem was the SLOW elevator

Stayed here numerous times with our two little fur babies and will go back again. Thermostat in room was the only thing that we had a problem with. It didn't seem accurate. Everything else was great!!

Decided to visit saint charles for the historical districts Christmas traditions. Also looking for a room with a jacuzzi, so this location looked to be a great fit. Gave us a great military discount as well. The staff were absolutley great. Rooms were clean and hotel offered a free shuttle within 3 miles, which will get you really anywhere you need to go including main street. My only concern was the noise level outside the hotel, which is not something that can be helped.

My wife and I stayed here 11/24/17. Katie was very friendly and checked us into Room 114, on the Ground Floor. The room had a comfortable Pillow Top King size Bed, Whirlpool, 32 inch TV, Fridge, Microwave, and a Coffee Maker. There is an Indoor Pool and Breakfast at 7 am. The Bass Pro Shop is just next door, Texas Roadhouse Restaurant is in the next Lot, and a Denny's Restaurant on the other side. Elchan, the "Front Desk Supervisor", was Very helpful and called us a Cab, so we could go to Downtown Saint Charles. We spent the evening dining at Hendricks BBQ Restaurant, then seeing the "Jeremiah Johnson Band" at the Moonshine Bar.

Very nice front desk staff and hot breakfast were high points. The elevators are tiny and take forever to reach a floor. With 8 floors this can become tedious. Only 1 elevator was operating. Room was comfortable.

Easy location to the historical downtown area of Saint Charles. This was a great price of $98. We were there in October of 2017. The hotel has been updated with a comfortable room. The breakfast is included in the price and was very good and better than expected. Very good value.

We picked this hotel off the internet and were very pleased with the accommendations and the location. The hotel room was much nicer than the studio timeshare we had just stayed in in Branson. The hotel is located close to downtown St. Charles and had a couple of restaurants within walking distance.

"Clean and convenient"

We stayed here in a room block for a wedding. Rooms were clean, staff was friendly and the included breakfast was pretty good for a hotel breakfast. It was just across the street from the reception venue, which was nice, but the shuttle stopped at 11 so we had to use Uber to get over to the hotel. Some other people in our room block said they had issues with their reservation, but we did not. Over all, nice for an overnight stay.

"What a staff!"

This has got to be one of the best Best Westerns that I have ever stayed in. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast staff was on top on the food at all times. And during our stay they went from soccer to basketball teams. The room was comfy and even had a body pillow (I normally don't travel with mine). This hotel is in walking distance of 7 places to eat. And I'm guessing 100 within a short drive. The draw backs was that one of the two elevators was still broken (one of the other guest stated that it had been out for at least 3 months) There was times we had to wait 10 minutes for it. And the one that was working would only hold about 6 people at a time. And I realize it did not state that there was a hot tub, but lacking one is a drawback in my mind. If you're like me I like to unwind for the drive by sitting in one in the evening. I would recommend this as a place to stay

"Unclean room"

Room was not clean when I arrived, hair was in the shower along with an old, crusty towel from the previous guests. Did not feel like anything the room was clean. Had a foul odor, when given the wrong key card to the wrong room at check in, staff was hiding behind wall at check in counter, no where to been unless you had to ask for them. Not a pleasant experience, do not recommend.

"Broken elevator"

Hotel has 8 floors and only one elevator working. Service very slow, had to use the stairs. Breakfast was good nice variety. Toilets will break your knees way too low. Room was nice some noise from interstate.

Room and beds are wonderful. Bathroom supplies are Bath and Body Works! No outlets so phone and electronics had to be charged in the bathroom. Absolutely a very clean! Michelle at the desk overnight was truly helpful and over the top giving us information about the city! Spectacular concierge I very much give her props!

"Travel to visit Family"

This was a stopover on our way from St Louis to Springfield, MO. We had visited the St Louis Zoo and then drove to the hotel. Very easy to find and park. Close to restaurants, shopping and St Charles Main Street. We had 3 adults traveling so the suite we got was very comfortable. 2 Queen beds in a separate bedroom with a bathroom. The living room had a sofa bed and another bathroom. Lots of space so we didn't get in each other's way.

There were no major things wrong, and we would probably stay again except for minor details as the annoying fan in the bathroom. You could not leave the light on at night in there without the vent loudly running. The bathroom is always my pet peeve, and this one did have a nice make-up mirror in it, but for some odd reason the toilet was super low to the floor like for a child. Could not figure that one out! The only other thing that might bother some is the elevators are very slow and tiny. It made for some frustration as large soccer teams were staying there and crammed the elevators. We asked the front desk about these annoyances and they said the toilets and the elevators were next on their list to update. Otherwise a nice place to stay. They do offer shuttle to historic district but too late in the day for us.

We had a good experience at this hotel. The only issue we had was that there were apparently two small-sounding dogs in an adjoining room and they barked once during the night, waking us up. The only quickly quieted them, but it woke us up. The hotel was nice and clean, convenient location for us and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

This is my second visit and the hotel provides everything I expected. Room clean, comfortable and spacious. The swimming pool provided a great venue for a few early morning lengths before the standard Best Western breakfast. Finally I would like to thank the manager for waiving the first night stay charge for one of our team who's flight was diverted as a result of hurricane Irma and never made it to St Charles.

We've stayed here before. I don't remember the last visit. This one is memorable because the place where an easy chair should be was empty. I had to pull out the table between the beds to seek electricity and discovered that it had not been vacuumed in a while. The room was very short on electric plug-ins. Check-in was hurried with pretty unintelligible fast talk. The person manning the desk at check-out was delightful and a credit to the hotel. You may want to bring a power strip if you have a lot of electronics to plug in. The breakfast offerings were definitely not plus. We ate elsewhere.

Very friendly check in staff. Good restaurant near. Nice room. Location close to interstate and access to the Gateway Arch. There is a shopping center adjacent with easy access and good variety. Only problem was the air conditioner would not keep temperature warm enough. On check out, staff said they would fix it.

We stayed here for my sons wedding, the staff could not have been more accommodating! (Thank you) Everyone from cleaning to the front desk were so very nice. The rooms where very spacious and spotless, the beds were comfortable, breakfast was awesome! The hotel is close to downtown old St Charles, the casino, the family arena and lots of restaurants! Downtown St Louis is a short drive away too. I would highly recommend this hotel!!!

Enjoyed my comfortable room, the pool, and the superbly friendly staff. Restaurants/businesses nearby - walking distance. The hotel is not in downtown St. Louis but there is easy access from freeway - a drive from downtown. There are nice little touches, a clean lobby, clean rooms, comfortable bed, nice pool with good hours - open early in morning. Typical hotel breakfast, but a roomy breakfast room.

Check in was good. The hotel is close to attractions. The room was clean. The pool area was clean. The hotel staff were all very helpful and polite. The only problem was that one of the elevators was not working and you had to wait a while for it. We took the stairs but it was an inconvenience.

This is a great Hotel the service is very good it's very clean and the location is good. It is very closely Expressway which gives you access to several different locations around Dallas area. The rooms are very good but you have to remember this is in a metropolitan area so usually rooms are very large overall it's very nice.

"Stayed twice"

We stayed twice at this facility, one week apart in transit. The first stay was quite wonderful. Staff friendly and helpful, double room suite clean and well set up. We had the same room on our return trip and it no longer smelled fresh, items were left in the fridge from previous guests. Only one elevator was working for eight floors of people. Staff seemed a bit more harried. Breakfast both stays was quite unremarkable. Cereal stale. Good location, though, for the Katy Trail and historic St. Charles and riverfront.

Historic St. Charles was as much fun as downtown St. Louis, "The Loop", and Casinos, each with a different "flavor". Food was good everywhere as well as the ambiance. The hotel itself is in a prime location - close to everything and easy to get to every part of the area. We particularly loved walking to the historic downtown and the casino. The staff and accommodations were exceptionally nice!

The hotel and room were very nice and the breakfast was above average. The refrigerator in the room did not work and we noticed in the am when we took out our warm beverages. But there was a fire alarm in the am during breakfast and we forgot to report the refrigerator. The staff were all efficient and considerate during the fire evacuation and re entry

"Our safety was jepordized"

We are frequent guests at Best Western hotels (diamond members). On the morining of 8/28/2017 the only working elevator in the building caught on fire. Our family, myself my husband and our 4 year old granddaughter, were on the 8th floor. No fire alarm sounded on our floor, no one knocked on our door (although the argued that they did) and no one called our room. There was a burning smell when my husband went to investigate there were firemen in the hall. There was also smoke in the hall. We gathered our stuff and exited down 8 flights of stairs. My husband was extremely upset that we were left in the building. While confronting the person in charge (the housekeeping manager) he was met with rudeness when there should have been compassion for our situation. The fire department was scolding them for the lack notification and evacuation process. They silenced the fire alarms and failed to notify all residence to exit the building. I mentioned to one of the housekeeping staff about our situation her response was 'they need more training'.. seriously not 'sorry this happened'. This situation could have been much worse and our lives could have been at risk. We were met with no remorse and no apologies.We were forgotten about and left in a dangerous situation then met with disrespect and no regard for our feelings. I hate to think that of the results of an extreme fire we would have been trapped on the 8th floor. The lack of training on evacuation and the lack compassion from management select employees at this hotel is disgraceful.

This is an older hotel but the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised to find that our suite had two bathrooms. We had booked this hotel for two nights as we were in Missouri to see the eclipse. We were so pleased to find that St. Charles had so much history and such an amazing old Main Street.

"Very Pleasantly Surprised"

We got the reservation through Price Line because it was just a one night stay. I was very much surprised by how nice the room was. The front counter staff person was very courteous and friendly. The room was clean with new carpet. The air conditioner was a little loud but acceptable. It had a nice indoor pool. The free breakfast was well stocked and very good. It had a large variety of items. Also, the coffee was excellent. If you are going to Old St Charles, this is a great place to stay. Lots of close restaurants and things to do like a AMC movie theatre. Would stay there again.

"entrance is easy to miss"

This was a good stay, nice large room, included a small refrigerator. The elevators are small and there is often a wait, and the luggage carts barely fit in. Breakfast was good, but some attention to detail was missing, the orange juice machine wasn't working. The entrance to the parking lot is easy to miss, kind of an odd "front entrance".

After price line screwing us on the Red Roof we left Red Roof because of bugs and unclean rooms. Price line not refunding our money after the Red Roof refunded them. We on our own went to the Best Western St. Charles Elshaun was great he helped us find a room for the night got a great rate and got 2 room suite the next day breakfast was good I wish they had a hot tub but the inside pool was nice a lot of stores in walking distance including the Amerstar Casino. Stay there anytime

My daughter and I stayed here one night after completing the Katy Trail on bicycles. When we first walked in there were some construction tools that were being taken somewhere. They made it a bit difficult to get an accurate impression of the lobby area. Front desk staff were friendly and courteous. We asked if they had a place we could secure our bikes and they allowed us to put them in our room. (some hotels don't allow that). The room was nicely furnished and very clean. The beds had multiple pillows on them of different firmness levels, making it easy to find the most comfortable one. While here we got tickets on amtrak back to Clinton. But, we weren't able to get the morning train. Leaving later and being tired from our trip I didn't want to check out at 11 and spend the day in town until it was time to catch our train. I called the front desk and explained our situation. They were very understanding and are able to move things around to allow us a later checkout. The breakfast was good and had a few small touches that made it extra nice. They had almond and soy milk as options which impressed my daughter. They also had tortillas to make breakfast burritos. Overall this was a wonderful experience and the perfect place to recover from biking a few hundred miles.

"Poor Reservation and Check-In"

At check-in, midnight, he said our rooms were still being cleaned and that we would not be able to check in for 30 minutes to an hour. at 1:00 am our rooms still were not ready. At 1:30 am I was given a King Room (Reserved a Queen Double) and at 1:45 am my second room was ready. I was assured that the next night I would have a Queen Double, no, was given a roll-a-way.

The location is fantastic.. a very short distance to a very cool historic district. The Staff was awesome. By far my best experience at a Best Western with check in and Staff. Comfortable beds but the rooms and bathrooms could use an update. Inefficient a/c units so the rooms are very humid and the carpet feels damp and smells musty

I was very disappointed. We have stay at BW many times. This was the worse. It just seemed like they didn't care about the guest during the power outage even though I told them we had medical equipment that was critical.

The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very quiet. The complimentary breakfast was great with many selections. We stayed for 4 nights with no problems. Highly recommend. Great value for the money!

Terrible experience . I feel they have offered a refund. My family and I were suppose to stay 2 nights and it was so bad I cancelled the 2nd night. I'll never use this hotel again and possibly other locations also

"Hotel Stay"

The hotel was conveniently located close to the internet and St Charles Main Street. It was clean and the employees friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfortable. Unfortunately the AC was loud and I think every time it clicked on and off it woke me up. It ran very loud. In the bathroom the fan was very loud and there was no way to turn it off. And finally the toilet was small and very low to the floor. I had never seen anything like it.

"Okay stay"

This is the second time I have stayed at this Best Western. The first time I made reservations in advance and was very satisfied with my stay. This stay was last minute and the experience wasn't the same. The front desk clerk was nice but it take a long time to check in. Nothing was ever mentioned about being a Best Rewards member as was done on my first stay at this hotel. The bed sheets were damp and even wet on one of the beds. It wasn't just the beds in my room but also in my brother's room across the hall. We were on the 7th floor. We didn't know if it was the humidity in the hotel or if the bed sheets just weren't completely dried. Because we were in a hurry to return to Ohio I didn't have time to bring it to the attention of Management. The breakfast was nicely presented, well stocked and very clean. Hot foods were hot and cold food cold. It's also a great location being just off of I-70 right on the outside of St. Louis.

"Exceeded our expectations!"

After a long day's drive, we were grateful to find the Best Western Plus just off I-65 at exit 351. Since it's also called The Charles Hotel, we were a bit concerned that it was an old revamped hotel. Following a warm welcome, we reached #618 KNS, a spacious clean room that exceeded our expectations. The room was quieter than anticipated. It featured a chair/ottoman, desk, television on drawer unit, refrigerator without freezer, microwave, closet unit, and comfy bed. The bathroom was compact but functional. Next door was a Texas Roadhouse for dinner -- without more driving. Breakfast was the standard waffle and hot items as well as cereal, pastries, and fruit. Had we more energy, we could have driven to the historic downtown or to the nearby casino.

Very impressed with Best Western. The room was very clean. The people were very friendly. I am a Hilton Honors member and Choice rewards and just joined BW rewards. I will look for their hotels in the future instead of the aforementioned.

"Horrible incompetent staff"

Phone reservation process horrible. Counter completely unattended. Wrong room provided, made to wait for ours. Promised discount never delivered. BS excuses at checkout. Never again! Staff was obviously new and left alone. Long line formed at counter when no clerks were available. A horrible experience.

We stayed for a week at the Best Western Plus - The Charles Hotel to be near the St Charles Convention Center. The hotel attached to the convention center was booked, and now I'm glad. The Best Western Plus was a lot less money for the week, and a great bargain. I found all staff (front desk, breakfast area, cleaning staff) to be pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, though a bit humid despite the AC keeping it cool.

This hotel was great in many ways including a great breakfast, friendly efficient staff, and great room. My only compliant would be that it stated within walking distance of historical Main Street and casino. Yes it was within walking distance, however, if you wanted to walk about a mile.

"Mini vacation"

We found this property in the Travel Buddy magazine and tried it out. We went to St. Louis for a bit of sight seeing and didnt want to stay downtown. The hotel is in a safe area with close access to the Ameristar and Bass Pro. Several resturants are within walking distance including Texas Roadhouse. The rooms are clean and spacious - but the bed pillows leave alot to be desired and the water pressure in the shower was pretty low. Other than those two items the room was very good for 3 adults and one child. The morning free breakfast was very good with particular notice to the woman who ran it by keeping it clean and well stocked. The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful. For destinations the zoo is about 30 minutes away in light traffic as is the arch. The hotel is right off of I 70 but quiet. Nice safe family friendly area.

"Great Staff, Horrible Mattress"

First let me say that the staff at this hotel were really friendly and made you feel welcome. I'm not picky about a hotel mattress. I usually think one hotel mattress is as good as the next. They are all usually pretty comfortable, in my opinion. The mattress at this hotel was awful. I woke up with a backache. It was lumpy and hard. The decor in the hotel is a little dated, but the hotel was clean. There were no usb ports in the room for charging devices. Most updated hotels have usb ports and I find that to be a great convenience. It would be nice to have a second trash can outside of the bathroom. I also wish there was a full length mirror. Staff was great. Mattress was horrible.

"My ME TIME"

All I needed was some rest. Entering the hotel was great, but going up the elevator, made me think I was in a Motel 6. Getting off on the 6th floor, you can smell the carpet as if it was a little damp. Once I opened the door to my room, it was awesome. The bed was GREAT, My only issue was the front desk not transferring a very important call to me because they told the caller no one by the name is at this location.

Hotel was nice, overall great place for business or leisure. I would stay there again if needed. The only recommendation I have is to clean the carpets in the room more often. Definitely don't want to walk barefoot on the carpet.

This is not the Best Western I remember from our last stay in one 5 or more years ago. The decor has been updated is quite nice. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable. There were a few little things like a stain and scuff marks but overall it was very nice. Ask for a room away from the ice machines. It can get a little loud. The lobby area had a couple of common rooms you could use. The only complaint I had was that to get to the elevators from the pool, you have to pass the front desk and it was wet in that area (I assume from dripping guests). Maybe a rubber mat along the hall would help? The staff was friendly and helpful.

Hotel looked recently upgraded. Nice and polite staff, comfortable bed and clean room. Liked the free breakfast buffet and laundry facility. Rooms seemed sound proof which made for a good nights sleep. AC runs all day all night, takes getting used to. Overall, a very good experience.

Stayed at The Charles Best Western for an extended weekend to celebrate our grandchilds birthday. The pool is great as is the outer area where the kids could take a break and sunbath. The dish of fruit that was refilled throughout the day and the cucumber water were a nice touch

"Dirty Hotel"

I had a horrible experience at this hotel, starting with a dirty room, and ending with a manager that has yet to return my call. This hotel needs new management... When I checked in there was urine on the toilet, and feces in the bowl. The carpet was damp, and the room smelled bad. They switched us to a new room (only after asking multiple times), but it was only marginally better. The new room had stains on the carpet, there was still an odd smell, and the A/C hardly kept the room cool.

"Not a good experience"

Rooms/bedding/shower were not clean. Hair everywhere. Someone's pet pooped outside one of our rooms and was not picked up. Plug for sinks not hooked up correctly and had to manually get it unplugged. When reported to staff, all we got was an apology, and nothing else. Went right on with what he was doing previously. The only good thing about this hotel was our breakfast experience. That room was clean and the lady servicing everything was so friendly and caring.

Good stay, nice staff. Location was close to old city and casino. Staff was extremely helpful and explained the process of check-in and check-out thoroughly. Recommend that families stay due to the pool and closeness to restaurants.

Great place to stay. We were here 5 days including a busy weekend. Our room was always quiet even with many young families and children staying here for a soccer tournament. The lobby and breakfast room were well maintained and we found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Our room was kept clean. We would definitely stay here again.

We had friends that stayed at Residence Inn and paid less. The breakfast was awful and made the value of this place even worse. I stayed at a Doubletree wth a huge spa and gym and wonderful free breakfast for $20 more. Reeks of smoke and old, dampness.

We had a lovely stay at the Best Western Plus in Saint Charles. The hotel reception area was very pleasant with a seating area and free coffee and tea. The front desk person was very pleasant and helpful. We had a big comfortable room. The hotel looks like it had been recently renovated and was beautiful. The location was convenient to the casino and the historic district of St. Charles. There are restaurants and shopping within walking distance of the hotel. We were very happy with our stay.

After a long ten hours in the car, it was a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was knowledgeable and were able to answer our question about what to do and where to eat. All of their suggestions were right on. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who comes to St. Charles.

The hotel was only 7 miles from Lambert International, two miles from my son's family home, less than a half mile from 5 star resturants amd only 8 miles from my granddaughters high school graduation program.

"Think twice"

The rooms were cold, dark and dingy. Toilet didn't work properly. I only stayed one night but would not consider staying there again. If it was recently renovated I must have gotten an unfinished room.

Paid around $100 for a room in the middle of the week. the room was clean, comfortable and cost effective. It was a little farther from STL Airport than we thought , but they do have a shuttle. Just call ahead for a airport shuttle reservation, it is by appointment only.

I have stayed at this location several times. The location is great with lots of restaurant just walking distance from the property. The pool is heated and the breakfast though small is enough to hold you over until lunch. I would recommend this hotel.

Needs updating. Needs freshening up. Stale room smell hit us when ever we walked into the room. Pricey for what we received. Hard to see hotel from freeway as it just blends in. I do have positive things to say such as location was nice. Fairly easy to get to. Bed was comfy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with many selections to choose from.

"Almost Excellent"

This was a very large 2 room suite with 2 full bathrooms. The suite was clean and very attractive with great makeup mirrors in the bathrooms. The only problem was the very old condition of the sofa bed and the main reason we booked a suite. The mattress had seen way better days and except for a very thin piece of cotton covering the springs, you would be sleeping directly on the springs. There was no excuse for this situation. I requested a change of matress and instead received a rollaway cot. This was better than nothing and we will likely give them another chance.

This is my third stay at this location and I have never been disappointed. If there was anything to complain about it would be that it is always so busy and sometimes takes a bit to get checked in. Lovely hotel, nice rooms and they are quite large, good shower and water pressure, nice soaps and shampoos. Breakfast is always good, better than most for sure. Right in the middle of everything so you can walk to eat and shop and be in the city in minutes. They also have room service but I have never used it so I cannot say how it is. Fridge and microwave in every room.

This Best Western Plus property is a very nice hotel in the St Charles area. Walking distance to a lot of convenient locations in St Charles and a couple minutes to the cool riverfront strip of restaurants, shops and pubs. No surprises, just a good choice for a place to stay, helpful staff, indoor pool and full breakfast in the morning.

"Almost Met Expectations"

This was our second stop at this facility within six weeks. We had been quite pleased with our first stay (in March), so made another reservation. I was told on the phone that while there were no more accessible rooms available, we would have a room on the 1st floor. Upon arrival, the desk clerk said no rooms were available on 1. We were given a room near the elevator on the 4th floor which was supposed to be non-smoking. The room had such a strong cigarette odor, that I went back and requested a different room. That room, though at the very end of the hall was fine. The desk clerk did apologize for the inconvenience. The rest of the stay was fine--bed was clean & comfortable and their breakfast is a step above average. Oh, the bottom of the tub was not clean, but thought perhaps it hadn't drained properly after cleaning??

Best Western plus has become our new go to hotel when we can stay at one. This property was very convenient to I 70 and had several restaurants nearby. The room was very large and very clean. The staff was the friendliest we encountered on our trip and the continental breakfast was very good. Would stay again if in the area

I was very impressed with this Best Western hotel; its accommodations and its staff. the beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was very good with hot items included. the staff were very helpful and polite.

Loved this hotel! Great service! Very nice! We were in town for a family gathering. The hotel was perfectly located. The staff was excellent! The pool was very nice and clean. We will stay here the next time we are in St. Charles!

The location along the interstate and a few minutes away from the interesting "old town" Main Street area of St. Charles is great. In all ways our stay was excellent, and the desk service was exceptional.

I paid cash at check in and my card was still charged, had to argue with hotel that I paid cash before refunding my money, which I had to wait several days before money was refunded. Hotel was clean and in working order. Did not get up in time for the Hot breakfast, but was told it had waffles, eggs, bacon, potatoes, cereals, fruit, muffins, yogurt, juices.

I would recommend staying here clean and convenient. Staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was good. Room was nice and quiet for being so close to the interstate. There are several good restaurants near by.

"Great Deal"

We are traveling with our daughter who goes to bed at 7:30pm and we do not. I wanted to find a "suite" with a separate bedroom and this fit the bill! You could tell the suite was basically two old hotel rooms with a door to join them and the bedroom door to the hallway walled off. It totally fit the bill and there were even two bathrooms. It was exactly what we wanted. The hotel staff were super friendly too. There are a lot of good restaurants nearby and it's close to downtown St. Charles (we didn't go there). Also most important: the price was right - all the other suites anywhere nearby were about $50 more/night. I'd definitely stay again!

My self and nine family members traveled to St Charles in April. We stayed at the Best Western Plus and was extremely please with the hotel. Beds were very comfortable, the indoor pool was ideal for calming and wearing the grand-kids out. It was larger than most hotel pools. The best part of the stay was; the staff. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We will diffidently stay again.

"St Charles delight"

I come to this hotel on a monthly basis, staying 3 -4 nights each time. I chose this one because I love old St Charles. Our office, which I visit is in O'Fallon, a quick 8 miles up the road. As long as our office is within a few miles I will continue to visit the St Charles location

"Like most new hotels"

Everythingwas perfect. Except the Windows,walls,doors are so cheap you hear Everything! We got no sleep. You hear cars planes motorcycles people talking walkingclosing doors etc . Please use higher quality materials to eliminate more noise.

This was our first of 3 hotels my family stayed at while on spring break in St. Louis and I must say that El-Chan at the front desk was absolutely wonderful. Friendly and helpful and always had a smile. He gave us names/directions of a few close parks to visit while waiting on our rooms to be cleaned. The rooms were good size and kids loved the pool. Breakfast was good. Kids loved making their own waffles. Would have gotten 5 stars but I didn't get my full 10% discount that I was promised due to the late check in related to unclean rooms. Would definitely stay again.

"Good location, close to historic district"

We were warmly welcomed when we arrived late on Saturday. Room were nice, with mini-frig and microwave and plenty of room to move about. On Sunday, we were out for the entire day, returning around 7 pm and found our room had not been cleaned. After contacting the front desk who informed us that none of the housekeepers worked on Sunday, the maintenance person brought us clean towels. Overall, would stay there again for the location and staying within our budget.

Room was very clean, bed was very comfortable. During check in, I was given a welcome package that contained a couple bottles of water, some snacks, shampoo and soap. Nothing special but a nice touch. They also had fruit infused ice water in the lobby along with apples and oranges. Again, nothing special but a nice little touch for their guests.

"Overall pretty good"

The room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good. But the shower was abysmal: water pressure was terrible and barely sprayed at all, making getting clean very difficult. Knowing that, it isn't bad. However, I wouldn't want to stay for an extended period because I like being able to quickly and easily get clean.

The hotel was great but make sure the sheets and pillow cases are clean. Other than that I had a great time and will stay again. The hotel was around great restaurants and grocery stores in case you forgot something. The room had microwaves and refrigerators in it. Easy accessible to St. Louis and Casinos

This is a very nice hotel. The room was very nice and had good lighting. The breakfast offered a wide range of items, hot as well as cold, fresh fruit, and several toppings for the waffles as well as syrup. The room was very quiet, didn't hear the neighbors or people in the hall way. This property is a great value for the price.

"Perfect location to be near the St Charles Convention Center"

This week we had a meeting at the Convention Center in St Charles...there is a hugh hotel connected to it, but it was booked plus more expensive, so picked this one because of location. We have been really pleased...very spacious clean rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast, good parking, and several restaurants next to us, and a gas station next door, and by a major highway so you can get in & out quickly, but back road across the highway to the Convention Center which made it easy to attend our meetings. Another advantage is this hotel is close to the historic shopping & fantastic restaurants in St Charles. Only problem is handicapped rooms are okay but bathrooms were for very short people & someone in a wheelchair or with major disabilities would have problems.

"Nice place"

My husband and I got a room for a recent staycatation, and we got a room with a jacuzzi in the room. Nice room, nice hotel, good breakfast, friendly staff and good pool. I might suggest the hotel make more of an effort to clean the jets of the jacuzzi. I ran the water and turned on the jets and some gross residue came out and I had to thoroughly clean that tub before using. But otherwise the place was great, clean, and comfortable. Good location if you want to explore St Charles.

The location is very convenient to many places and events in St. Charles. The hotel is clean and the staff seems pleased to serve you. When you walk into your room it is well furnished and pleasantly appointed. There is a complimentary breakfast which has enough choices to satisfy your needs, and a bowl of fruit is there in the lobby to satisfy your need for a snack. I think the room rate is good for what you get in this hotel.

Nice older Best Western, great access to I-70,a great Road House restaurant adjoining the parking lot,easy to have a meal or a drink to unwind.This property has problems.First,our room had sheets that were very thin from use,blanket was hard and coarse,stiff from laundering harshly.The room was very clean, but no toilet tissue in sight,on or off the holder.No way to syart at a large property.Also not good for one young lady to be there alone at 6pm,on a week end night,especially when the presidential debate was being held there.(St.Charles is St.Loius) Quiet night, as we chose the 8th ,top floor.Breakfast was good,lots of the regular choices, and the lady running it, was on top of refilling all foods and coffee,abd truly miss personality plus sweet..Checking out,was a JOKE.At ck. In,we presented them with Best Western gift cards,she said she had to use our cr card until ck out,then use them.Fine until ck out, where they ran our cr card for the full amt.,and stated they couldn't do a credit for it then use the cards, as the main reservation desk,should have a note stating we were to use a gift card,and they had no such note in the system.Last night,today,no management at site,would be none until tomorrow, and front desk man had no authority to credit my cr card back and use a gift card.Then added the main reservation center should given us a number to use for reserving and he had to fill out a paper if it was used.Called customer care at corp. Best Western, guy was appalled, and a gift card was like cash and could be run on ck in or ck out,as such.No special calls,codes,were ever necessary.A formal claim has been filed to inform the MANAGER at the property,that his employees had not been trained to BW standards, and these actions placed a bad taste in.the mouths of reward members of the BEST WESTERN name and logos.The rules from them,are the same all over the world,and a GM of a BW can't change them,nor can his employees.Gift cards are cash in hand,to always be accepted.We'll see,outcome later.An 8 story BW should have had a management on duty,and more help at the front desk,am and pm shifts,especially in a city the size of St.Louis/St.Charles.

"Last Min Fam vaca"

This was a last min vacation for me and my little family. We wanted to visit the zoo and chose to stay in St Charles Mo. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the rooms are very spacious. It was so quiet that we slept past the breakfast time. We checked in late so the desk clerk asked if I needed a late check out, which was not needed the kids where too excited at 9:30am to let us sleep any longer. Definitely somewhere I would stay again.

We paid $180 a night. It was a fine stay but you can stay places much nicer for this price. The elevators were not working and the building is bit run down. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Beds were very comfortable and rooms were clean.

I stayed at the Best Western Plus Charles Hotel in St Charles Mo. when visiting my daughter at college (Lindenwood University). Arrived very late in the evening, however the desk associate welcomed me and stated they had the perfect thing after a long drive- my room was waiting with a really comfortable bed. Used the pool the next morning before breakfast to stretch out which was very nice.

I stayed at the BW+ in St. Charles for a business trip in September. The hotel was fine if I were a pleasure traveler, with a good breakfast, clean and spacious room, and great staff. The advertised free internet was spotty at best and unusable most of the time, which made the business end of the trip difficult. I would not stay again for business, but wold on a vacation.

We stayed here for a business meeting. It was incredibly affordable for what we got. The parking is free and easy. Located right off I-70 very easy to get to and close to several attractions. There are several restaurants nearby. Overall good clean affordable hotel. We would stay again.

What more could you ask for? Well the staff was helpful, the computer room was clean and had more than one computer for use, and they leave the kitchen available to you all night if you need a piece of fruit, a spoon or some juice etc. in the middle of the night.

"rudely awakened"

we were rudely awakened early Friday morning, probably by hotel staff because they had to have a room key to unlock the door. fortunately we had the safety latch engaged and this prevented them from gaining entry. A very scary experience to be sure. the drapes were blocking air flow from the ac unit. and the pillows were too small.

"Close to so much!"

I was pleasantly surprised when I checked into the hotel. After always staying at a LaQuinta or Drury I have high standards. The only complaints I had about my room was the water pressure was poor (I was on the 3rd floor) and finding the entrance (it wasn't clearly marked). I traveled 10 hours for my daughter's wedding right after working 8 hrs on an overnight shift and when I arrived my room was ready for me. It was fabulous to get into a clean room and lay down on a comfortable bed for some relaxation before the wedding. It was even better when after the wedding, I was able to go back to my room and not hear any noise from the hallway or the interstate which was a stone throw away. Bass Pro Sportsman Warehouse was less then a block away. Denny's was behind the hotel as well as a Walgreens, mc donalds and several other great places. The AmeriStar Casino was just down the road as well as the Budweiser Convention Hall. A great hotel for the money!!!

read previous write up: When I checked in the trainee female checked me in professionally even as i complained about the coupon. The senior desk attendant said to take the matter up the manage in the morning. I spoke with the manager and voice my opinion and was dismissed out right for standing up for the coupon and the lack of warning from the reservation desk at the corporate reservation desk. RRRoan

The room was average but it had a funny smell. My desk chair had something all over the seat. I had to put a towel down in order to sit. The bed was clean and comfy. The staff was very nice. The breakfast was good and the staff that was present during breakfast were very nice.

My daughter and I stayed here during a local soccer tournament. Clean hotel with wonderful staff. We arrived right at the checkout time for the day, and they were able to get us a room in a short amount of time. Rooms were quiet. Comfortable bed. Good location.

Great weekend. Very clean and friendly place. Staff was great from start to finish. Breakfast was a real shocker the second day because they had bacon which most places only serve cheap pork patties all the time every morning. Bass pro and lots of other shopping or attractions all around. Stay here skip the others in St. Charles if you can.

The hotel needs work on their toilets and bathroom fans. The toilets are low so someone who has had recent knee or hip surgery have a hard time sitting. The fans are noisy and need repair. The staff are wonderful and very helpful.

Very impressed with this hotel. Very clean, rooms are super nice. All employees were very friendly. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Even though I didn't use it, there is room service which is a huge bonus. And the breakfast is great. 5 stars!

Comfortable beds, clean, good full breakfast. Would recommend to friends as good quality for the price. Stayed 2 nights and would use again when in the area. Hotel is older on the outside but refurbished on the inside.

"Needs updating"

We had a two room suite, but the sofa sleeper and chairs were VERY worn and dirty looking. I would not sit on them! Carpet also needs to be replaced in the rooms and hallway. The elevators were a little scary because of the jerkiness on the stops. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean but linens appeared to be old and discolored. The AC and WiFi worked well, but the toilets were wobbly and did not flush well. Breakfast was average.

great place close to the airport, friendly staff clean rooms great value. Several restaurants within walking distance.the rooms were very nice and clean and there are two elevators and seven floors.The front desk people were very friendly and checking in and out was quite pleasant.

The staff was very nice to everyone that walked in. Friendly maids and custodians. It's an excellent place to stay! We had a tire issue after we checked out and Elcid at the front desk helped us find a place to get it fixed. Wal-Mart, did the job and the price was very reasonable!

room has been completely remodeled. rooms are very nice and upgraded. still a work in progress (as is the whole area) but overall an enjoyable stay. parking is a difficult as the lot is very small due to the location. but convenient to local restaurants, Walgreen's, etc.

During a softball tournament through the Midwest my family and I were able to stay at this hotel. It was excellent! The place was like a boutique hotel and it was super close to the Casino. Really cool hotel - great customer service too! We'll be back if we're ever in St Charles!

1st room i was assigned reeked of cigarette smoke. internet too slow to be usable, elevator cannot keep up with demand. breakfast area too small to accommodate a full hotel. staff were sympathetic, but did little to make things right.

Moved here from another hotel and was so pleased. It was very nice, beautifully decorated, comfortable beds, great wifi, and very clean. The price is very reasonable as well. No smoking rooms but they have a couple nice sitting areas outdoors for smokers as well as a patio area with tables, chairs, and ashtrays so I did not feel like a social outcast because I smoke. They offer an indoor pool, fitness room, business center, and media room. It is located next to several strip malls with all kinds of shopping and restaurants within walking distance and very close to the park. Rooms have refigerators and microwaves which is important to me since I usually stay for several days in one location while I am working and it saves me money on eating out every meal. I will definitly stay here again.

Stayed three nights while visiting family in the area. Hotel was very nicely appointed. Staff always friendly and helpful. Plenty of restaurants conveniently located. Don't miss visiting Old St Charles. On site breakfast was good and lots of room. Beds very comfortable. Getting into hotel a little is a little odd. Could use another sign from street. When we are back in the area will stay again.

"Three day stay (our only 'long term' stay on a two week trip.)"

There was nothing really "wrong" with this hotel. However, it was not our favorite place to stay. ( Of 14 days we spent 10 in Best Westerns and this was our longest and least favorite stay.) Most of the staff was very friendly, our room was clean, large enough for us, A/C worked fine. This is 'personal' but I hate those coffee machines! The breakfast staff; poor rating for them. True, the hotel was full, but their location suggests they should be used to that. We do not expect to hear the staff complaining about their jobs nor how 'tired I am today." Guests are PAYING for 'amenities' not to hear employees complain and definitely not to see messy tables and food service areas covered with trash and 'waste." The pool was 'closed' for some afternoons due to 'private swim school lessons'...sign taped to the pool door on the days of the school (not ahead of time.) We used the pool anyway. (Another 'amenity 'we were paying for!) The school was gracious about this. We used the laundry; no complaints! Worked great and clean clothes. Can't beat that! Really, not a 'bad' nor 'terrible' place-just not our favorite. Ann H

We have stayed here multiple times in the last year when we visited family. We love that it is close to the interstate with short drive to downtown St. Charles that has great restaurants and shopping. It is very clean and inviting. The rooms are very comfortable and the free wifi is always a great perk. The bathroom is large and they provide towel racks and hair dryer. The staff is very pleasant and prompt when you request things. The breakfast room is large and stocked. Always come back to this place to stay!

I arrived at the Best Western Plus The Charles Hotel after experiencing a very long delay in a flight to MO. After looking for a place to stay near the St. Louis Airport to no avail, I began to drive Weest towards my final destination. I stopped at this hotel and was delighted that they had a room available. The gentleman that helped me with check in was very helpful and sympathetic to the travel trouble that I had been having. It is close to St. Louis - I think worth the drive to stay there and drive to St. Louis if you are in town for a vacation.

My niece participated in a dance competition this past weekend so we booked our room at the Best Western because it was fairly close to the convention center. With a national competition in town and a booked hotel Best western should have been better prepared. There were no luggage racks available when arriving or departing, some staff were friendly, some were too good to speak, however the room was spacious, cool and clean for the most part. Saturday after a long day at the competition my niece and daughter were excited to hit the pool before going ot bed however we regret making the venture to the pool area. When exiting the elevator, with the pool door being closed you could still hear the kids. As we entered kids were running around the pool, jumping in, screaming at each other, etc. 21 kids were in the pool and 1 adult was sitting outside the pool. All of these kids were under the age of 17 and there is a signed clearly posted that 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. My niece and daughter were both hit in the head by their football, they deliberately threw the ball at them because we weren't able to even get passed the stairs due to their crazy behavior. When addressing this safety concern with front desk staff, we were apologized to for the inconvenience, after the second time of making it clear that it was a safety hazard and not one hotel staff made it into the pool area yet, we were informed she hasn't had a moment to step away because she was so busy which tells me she was the only one on staff. Although the parents are responsible for their disrespectful untrained children, Best Western should have been more concerned about the safety of their guests.

Nice over all, except the Toilet in the room was Too Low for Comfort. Otherwise, the Hotel was Very Nice, Convenient, and well equipped. My husband got sick on the way home and was placed in the hospital at St Joseph. I was looking for a place to stay and for my grandsons to stay. The nurse at the hospital call and talked to the manager and got me a good rate so I took the room for the night. I ended up staying 4 nights. I have to say the people who work here did everything they could to help me. They even made sure there was a handicap room for my husband when he got out of the hospital. I have to say the staff gets a five star from me. The hotel also gets a five star. If you are ever in the area this is a great place to stay.

Room is humid and sticky feeling and has an odor. Towels are ragged w stains & only 1 per room. Had to ask for more. Website made it look very nice & it was $50 less per night than Embassy. Wish I would have spent the extra money. On a better note the staff are very helpful & nice.

I thought that the location and hotel were AWESOME (the MOST amazing bed I've slept in!) and the front desk clerks were SUPER friendly! The "comfortable" driving distance to the cobblestone streets of Old Towne St. Charles was absolutely ideal. We didn't go to Ameristar but it was, literally, RIGHT across the street :)

Stayed here for a long weekend. First the not good. It was 100 degrees out and the room didn't get cool enough. Also the air conditioner didn't take the humidity out of the room so it always felt damp. After being out in the heat I wanted to cool down, but no such luck. Told the front desk and they just talked about the heat. The good. Great breakfast. And the room they served breakfast in was very spacious. I stayed at other places were it looked like they converter a closet to serve breakfast in. Staff was friendly. Common areas were clean. Overall would not come back because of the room experience.

"Strong dog smell"

I am on a road trip with some friends paying their way. I've stayed in several hotels in the past few days. Most are pretty expensive. However, this one as average as it is may be the biggest bang for your buck. It's nicer than the Omni Shoreham in Washington DC and 1/3 the price. Comfortable bed, great staff, nice room overall. "Great location, not very clean"

I thought I had already reviewed this one but I cannot find it in my list of hotels reviewed, so here's my input: Don't stay here if you value cleanliness. Since The Charles is a Best Western property I expected a certain standard of cleanliness for the price. Cleanliness was not there. The bed linens appeared not to have been changed (hairs on the bed sheets), nor did the carpets appear to have been vacuumed or even shampooed in some time (lint and dark stains). The pillows on one of the beds were terribly musty; thankfully the pillows on the other bed were fresher. The halls and stairways needed some picking up as well. Though the staff was apologetic that the room did not meet our expectations, first impressions mean a lot and the first impression of this hotel were not good.

My sister and I traveled in Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa for a recent trip to begin tracing the Lewis & Clark trail. We stayed at four motels, picking a nearby one each night. They all cost about the same. This Best Western Plus in St. Charles MO was by far the best one. Nice room, very clean, very good breakfast, easy internet access, near where we wanted to be. Staff was helpful and nice. Cucumber water in the lobby was a fun plus!

"Weekend Stay"

This was just your average hotel for a weekend trip. Room was ready at checkin, the elevators were super slow that we took the stairs the majority of the time. Our room was clean, however cosmetically it could have used some professional painting and touch ups. The room was super humid, that the carpet felt wet while we were there. I felt that even at group pricing, it was a little expensive for what we got. Breakfast had a wide variety, and was pretty good. very nice hotel with a clean and family friendly environment. breakfast was very good with lots of choices and the pool was awesome - it was 12' deep! kids loved the pool and it was close to St. Louis to visit all that the town has to offer. i would recommend this hotel to everyone.

The staff were very professional. The interior was very clean and the exterior was also. I enjoyed the pool and grounds. The breakfast was especially delicious and comfortably served. I asked different members of staff many questions with great friendly answers. I also asked the staff for many different items sometimes they had them and sometimes they didn't but every time I asked for the items I received the items. I also politely asked for a late check out and the request was politely granted.

We stayed here for a family reunion. We have stayed here in the past when it was under a different name and the hotel was not too nice of a place to stay but since Best Western took over they renovated it and it is a great hotel. Great service, our huge family had a great time by the pool/patio, the rooms and common area were exceptionally clean, great breakfast!!!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Defiantly have competitive rates. We did not use the pool area but it looked very inviting. I would highly recommend this location. So close to downtown and other shopping areas. Plus a wonderful casino just down the road.We couldn't have picked a better hotel.

"Good Amenities, Could Be Cleaner"

The Best Western Charles Hotel is conveniently located just off Interstate 70 in the heart of St. Charles, within walking distance of the historic old town area and Katy Trail. There are many eating and shopping options, also within walking distance, from fast food chains to unique, sit-down eateries. We travel with our dog so we appreciate that Best Western motels accept guests with pets. While we are accustomed to being assigned rooms that have some wear and tear (what we call "dog rooms"), the room we had at this Best Western was one of the most worn that we have experienced. In addition, the pillows on one of the beds were musty and the sheets had enough random lint and hair on them to make us wonder if they had been changed. (No, it was not our dog's hair; she is NOT allowed on furniture!) For over $100 per night we had hoped that this Best Western would live up to what we had come to expect in Best Westerns. Otherwise, the staff was pleasant and the decor was nice. The lobby and breakfast area were roomy and clean. The free breakfast was tasty and included eggs and sausage as well as the usual cold items.

Rented 2 rooms. Arrived at 10pm. Diaper in trash can of 1 room as well as an ear plug on the floor. Neither room had shampoo or conditioner in them. Dirty sheets in pull out bed. Unsure of sheets on beds. Asked for them to be changed and maint. arrived and handed me a set of sheets. Bathroom door did not close in room 2. 1 elevator requires maint.

This is my third time staying here, passing through for work. The high standards Best Western has for service and room quality are what keep this hotel chain at the top of my choices, and this location is exemplary. The breakfast has ample seating, and good offerings. The gravy was a good, creamy, peppery gravy, which went very well over top the bacon, eggs, and cheese on the tortilla.

Great hotel with excellent customer service. The room was very clean and comfortable and there was plenty of restaurants within walking distance. This was a portion of a trip heading to Colorado; we have stayed in many Best Western hotels. I would advise people to stay in at least a Best Western Plus. I find the Plus to have better food, cleaner and amneties are better. Book ahead; we tried to book on the road so we knew how many hours more we wanted to drive. This did not work out to very well. We have a little Yorky and finding a Plus can be difficult sometimes. I will always get online from now on to get the at least the Plus hotels.

the price was very good, the breakfast burritos hit the spot, close to shopping & restaurants. The staff was very helpful, nice lounge area, the only bad thing was there was not a hot tub.. Stayed for 1 night because I was in a 5K. Small room but clean and comfortable. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there was a hint of smoke in the room even though it was a non smoking room. Asked for a quiet room away from the elevator and that's what I got. Breakfast buffet was typical small hotel fare but adequate if you're just looking for a quick meal.

A good choice for business travels and others as well. Indoor pool. Bed is comfortable. Rates are very reasonable and amenities like restaurants, banks, drug store, etc. are close nearby. WiFi is reasonably fast and there's a nice business center. Desk with adequate plugs and plugs near bed for iPhone/alarm. Bathroom includes shower/tub and is decent size. Breakfast is included and was adequate for a quick bite.

Our softball team stayed here for a tournament. The rooms are nice and clean and it's quiet at night. We didn't have a chance to enjoy the free breakfast because our games started before the breakfast began (breakfast doesn't start until 7 a.m. on Sat. and Sun). The kids enjoyed the heated pool and the staff was very friendly. Bass Pro Shop and Denny's are right next to the hotel. The hotel is easy to get to and conveniently located.

"Nice Place"

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was kept. It rather apparent it is old, but they have done a nice job to make major improvements. As I had seen on other reviews, the pillows were HORRIBLE! Ask for new, but I doubt anything will be changed. Most of the staff were very friendly, however the night clerk was rather curt and rude to any questions I had early in the morning. Must have woken him from his nap by the look of his clothes.

We planned to overnight in St Louis area & saw the $69 hotel coupon. The TA reviews were mostly favorable & our actual stay greatly exceeded our expectations. Amanda was most welcoming. She provided directions & not only great dining suggestions but discount coupons as well. We had a clean, comfortable room, delicious full hot breakfast. Another stellar employee, Susan, befriended & assisted everyone as she cheerfully completed many tasks for guests. Although the hotel was a bit challenging for our navigation system, it's in a perfect location for shopping, dining, or just walking around in Bass Pro. Highly recommended.

After checking out of the 1st hotel we stopped at because it was so gross, this hotel was a breath of fresh air. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool was great, my kids were in it for a large portion of the time we spent there! The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was awesome, they put out a huge spread! I recommend this hotel for any type of person to stay at. It doesn't have a hot tub which was the only down fall for the adults, but it was still great!

Got this hotel for a college visit on hotwire. It was rated as a 3 star, but I think 2 1/2 stars is more realistic. All of the staff we talked with were helpful and courteous, the room was large and clean. The common areas of the hotel are a bit worn, the breakfast was average hotel fare. The parking lot was ample and close to entrance, and the hotel is close to the interstate. The shower pressure was horrible. For what I paid for the room, I got my moneys worth. There is a lot of shopping and restaurants nearby, and it is close to Lindwnwood University.

"Disappointed"

We picked this hotel because it looked like and reviews suggested they had a nice big pool, as our 9 yr old grandson was with us. It was smaller than expected, cold, and no separate hot tub, so scratch our primary reason for selecting this BW. Everything else was a very mixed bag. Our king suite was very spacious, but housekeeping said we have to make-up our own hide-a-bed, which we did with the stained, worn blankets they provided. They had a good continental breakfast and very personable people at the front desk, but the front desk people had no uniforms and were sporting lots of tatoos, not very professional looking. The hotel hallways and common areas are well worn and need a refresh.

The hotel was OK, clean. Staff was very nice. Area was great. Next door to Texas Roadhouse, Chinise Buffet, Waffle House?, Sports Bar. Gordman's, Bass Pro Shops in shopping center. Great place, nice pool and weight room, staff is excellent, rooms are large and clean, bathroom is arranged nicely, overall I'll be back Not a great place for a conference - only one room available and very small - despite this, the staff did their best to assist us in all our needs and made the conference a great conference. They listen to your needs and make them happen. Great place - you won't be disappointed.

"Well maintained property"

I needed a reasonably priced hotel in the St. Charles area for a business trip, and the reviews on Trip Advisor for this property were good. I gave it a try, and it was nice. The entrance to the hotel actually feels like the back of the hotel so I had to drive around the property to make sure this was where I needed to go in. The rest of it was great though, clean, fun colors, comfortable, bathroom towels were soft!

Super friendly staff and excellent service. Room was very clean and hotel was maintained well. Also we drove a truck towing a trailer and access and parking was very easy. Would stay there again! One of the nicest Best Westerns we've stayed at!

Stayed here for a concert that they were having at the Ameristar. Very convenient access to the casino and extremely close. Rooms were clean. Bed was comfortable, and check-in was pretty quick. We didn't go down for the breakfast in the morning, but were told about it during check-in. My only complaint is the elevator access. It's a decent sized hotel, so would be nice to have another elevator. But all-in-all, I'd stay here again.

The hotel is located close to the highway on ramp. Which is currently under heavy construction. My family stayed two nights, the first night we were woke up before six am due to construction equipment and a dozen dump trucks outside. This constant beep of the trucks being backed up went on for hours. The next day the hotel moved us to a room across the hall to avoid a repeat of the evening before only to be woke up at 8am by house keeping staff whistling and signing and slamming room doors. We won't return.

Very nice motel and easy getting on and off interstate 70. I would rcomend this to everyone. Clean and confortable rooms. close to attraction in St Charles and close to St Louis..They are currently remodekin this motel, but that did not cause any problems.

Whenever we want to take a break from the everyday...we stay here. The kids love the indoor heated pool, the staff is friendly and helpful, and it very clean and organized! We try to get here at least twice a year.

The main entrance was hard to find at first, I drove around the entire building before finding the door. The staff was nice, the room was clean and smelled clean. The only down fall I had was with the television. No guide of telling you what channel was which, unless you scrolled thru the television it self. Other wise, It's nice.

This hotel is located in the center of historic St. Charles Missouri. The staff was professional and the room was large and obviously updated bedding and bathroom. Everything you need is within a mile or so of this hotel, market, restaurants, Bass Pro, and the Historic District which has old world charm you don't want to miss.

This was a great hotel with friendly staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable with nice amenities such as fridge, microwave, flat-screen tv, free WiFi, hair dryer and a service for if you forget anything. They also have a nice pool and fitness center. We were very comfortable and it was a very nice place to land after a long day of traveling.

this was a nice hotel with friendly service by 99% of the staff. just had one bad apple in the bunch. the inside looks to be remodeled and is nicer on the inside than the outside looks. the parking lot is not the best and the main door is not labeled well but it was convenient and cost effective.

We had a great experience here from the reservation to the check out! We were needing a specific type of room (suite with rooms separated by a door) because we have little kids and they were very helpful in helping me find the right type of room and it was excellent!

I recently had 11 people in for meetings for 3 days and the location was great. Close enough to the airport for those flying in and close enough to Hwy 70 for those driving. The Charles Hotel has great accommodations. It has recently been renovated and the rooms are clean and all my guests raved about the beds. Not sure what kind the hotel has, but I can tell you we all loved them. The breakfast that was included was very nice and the lady who attended the breakfast, kept on top of keeping the tables cleared and making sure that everything was stocked. She was kept very busy as this hotel is used by lots of sports teams who come to St. Charles to play soccer, basketball and indoor football. The front desk and housekeeping staff were also very friendly and helpful. I worked with Tiffany Barnfield in sales who saw that we were well taken care of. Having lived in St. Charles all my life, I have known about this hotel a long time but hadn't visited it since it was renovated. I was reluctant to use it for my meeting but thought I should at least visit it. I am so glad I did. I was very pleasantly surprised. I will strongly recommend it to others. In fact, on our last day there, a lady who was considering it for some of her family who would be coming in for a family reunion asked for my opinion of the hotel and I told her she should definitely plan on using it. She won't be disappointed.

the Best Western Plus Charles Hotel In St. Charles has everything. It is located at a shopping mall next to I-70, with easy on and off access. It has three restaurant within easy walking distance, including Denny's. Chinese buffet and Mexican Buffet, a Walgreen's across the street and Bass Pro nearby. the staff is very friendly and accomodating. They even have a grounds keeper who can be seen chasing paper cups or plastic bottles on a windy day.

The hotel appears second rate from the outside and lobby area. Not a Plus hotel by any means. I would think of it as simply a Beat Western and I do not normally book Best Westerns (but will book Plus). The room was actually ok, but below expectations with the higher designation. Let me also mention that this was a free night that I had booked and I was still disappointed!!!

The Charles Hotel is a great place for a weekend stay in St. Charles. The location is great for Main St and the casino and for visiting family. Our room was spacious & comfortable with an easy chair & ottoman, as well as our king bed. There was a large mini-fridge, microwave & coffee maker. (The coffee quality was even surprisingly good!) Our room was clean & quiet too. If you're looking for good quality at affordable rates, look no further!

Very nice hotel. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. It was an easy check in process. The breakfast is nice and has a variety of food available. Very close to any shopping malls/stores, casino and food establishments. Right across the parking lot is a steak house, Bass Pro and other various stores.

My husband and I booked the jacuzzi suite for a little getaway. When we arrived we immediately noticed that the jacuzzi had a ring around the bottom, but we had anticipated this and cleaned it out ourselves. We went out and enjoyed downtown St. Charles. When we were showering the next morning, we also noticed huge poop stains all around the toilet bowl. It was disgusting and did not meet my expectations of any hotel, much less a $200 a night hotel.

First off when I walked into the room the smell of smoke hits you in the face, even tho it's a non smoking room. The Hispanic workers hit on my wife while she was walking to her car. The curtains have mold all over them. Room next door had a party until 3am. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone ever.

I have stayed at this hotel before and I was pleased both times. I was offered an upgrade in a very large suite because I have platinum rewards status with Best Western. When they say Loyalty as it's rewards, they really mean it. I also had a $100.00 Best Western Rewards gift card that I earned and I used for this stay. I will return here again when going through this area.

Spent one night here on our way home. The hotel is right off the interstate and is next to a shopping center so there were a half dozen eating establishments within walking distance. The gal at the front desk during check in was very friendly. The lobby and hallways were clean and had been recently updated with fresh paint, wall décor, and furniture. The room had also been updated with new furniture, paint, and wall décor. However, the bedding on both queen beds while clean had a couple of stains and there were a couple of stains on the front edge of the tub. This hotel would be fine for one night while passing through St. Louis.

Spent two nights in Jan 2016. Nice large room, comfortable bed, clean except for a couple of pills I found on the floor by the bed. I like it cold in my room and could not open the window so turned the a/c down to 61 but it did not feel like it cooled the room down as much as I had wanted. All the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast buffet very nice. Walking distance to restaurants and Bass Pro Shop. St. Charles is a very historic town (first capital of MO) and there is a very quaint shopping area on Main Street.

This hotel is very nice and clean, the rooms are fabulous; roomy, comfy beds, clean, and quiet. Unfortunately, I experienced more cons than pros during my 4 night stay at this hotel; my time in St. Charles Missouri was for business only near the hotel, so I did not spend much time in my room or at the hotel for a majority of my stay. #1-The shower-head hardly had any water pressure which made my bathing time much longer (hopefully my neighbors above, below, and next door were not too disturbed with the half hour to 45 minute long running water). #2-Upon my first night stay and returning the next 3 nights thereafter, the "gift shop area/gift shop wall" was not stocked with a selection of beverages, mostly water and a handful of Diet Coke which were mostly outdated. Candy, a few frozen foods and chips were available. The following night, we asked the associate at the counter if there were any soda machines available in the hotel and she said there was one on floor 3 and 5. The machine on floor 3 was "out of order" and the machine on floor 5, was sold out of most selections; the only drink in stock was Sierra Mist. I don't mind purchasing a bottle of my preferred choice of pop for $2.00, but it was upsetting to only be able to choose Sierra Mist and pay $2.00 for it. Returning to the hotel on our second night there, we had asked another associate at the counter if the machines had been repaired and stocked. She was not able to answer the question and asked the gentleman who was sitting on a bar stool behind a wall in another room who had his full attention on his cell phone and without even acknowledging us (the customers) he responded to the associate with "The GM will be here tomorrow". I was confused, what did the GM being there have to do with our question??? In other words, he was too preoccupied on his phone to professionally represent his company to acknowledge us, to maybe sincerely apologize and answer the question with a simple "no". Returning on Tuesday night, the machines remained the same; therefore we didn't even bother to check anymore for the remainder of our stay. We then made sure for the remaining two nights, we supplied our own beverages and was able to store it in our rooms in the refrigerators. #3-In addition, they advertise free wireless internet and a business center; Sunday night, we were unable to connect to the internet provided by the hotel as advertised. From Monday through Wednesday night; it was touch and go during the night time. The business center had 3 separate computers and 1 printer available for customers to use; 2 of the 3 were "out of order" and the keyboard connected by blue-tooth to the third working computer, would not stay connected most times. Asking the hotel staff for assistance, I was advised IT was not on-site to assist. Each time I visited the business center, I brought my own laptop and a USB cord to connect to printers, but didn't locate an open port to do so. On the third night, I needed to scan something and had asked the associate if the printer had scanning capabilities, she was unsure and said that another customer had mentioned being able to figure a way of doing so. She suggested I could disconnect the USB cord from 1 of the 2 non-working computers and plug it into my laptop to see if I could print and scan. Unfortunately for me, I am not very computer literate and was not able to figure it out. #4-One of the female associates who was on staff spends a lot of company time on the telephone talking with friends or family and her 'mom' than she does taking care of customers who are presently standing in front of her, unless you're a male. I witnessed her talking on the phone once and a guest was standing at the counter for at least a minute waiting for her to acknowledge them, but the associate was too busy talking to a group of men at the other end of the counter. She did finally acknowledge and took care of the guest. A separate time, I needed assistance and approached the counter, where the same associate was on shift and again, on the phone talking to someone about something personal; she finally told her mom to hold on and set the phone down on the counter, assisted me in a hurried manner since I was obviously interrupting her at work and mentioned to me that she was talking to her mom about her ill child. It's possible the discussion was about her ill child, but what I heard was about a man. For me personally, I will not be making future reservations at this particular hotel in my future, nor will I recommend it to anyone I know. Unless you plan ahead and supply your own beverages, require less showering time, and do not have a need for the business center; this hotel really is nice and clean, the rooms are great, and some of the staff are more courteous and professional to their guests than others.

We did have some vending machines that needed to be attended to and this issue has been corrected. We also did have two computers in our business center that were inoperable and have since been replaced, we were simply waiting on them to be delivered. We did find that your shower head needed to be head needed to be cleaned to improve flow and this has been corrected. We definitely want our guests to come first so we will address the issue of personal phone calls at the desk and have them eliminated. We were not aware of any Wi-Fi internet issues in the building, no other complaints have been brought to our attention. In fact we just completed an upgrade to fiber optic cable internet that is an improvement over standard broadband. I'm sure that if you returned to our hotel your experience would be much different. We spent the weekend there for a youth team event. On the last night we were staying there was a knock on our door at 11:30 at night. There was a man at the door with towels and a box of tissues offering to clean our room. I shut the door and called the front desk. They advised that this was not their employee and would check things out. She called back and advised that no one could be located. At this point my wife and daughter we both upset. I asked the front desk to contact the police. We then packed up and left. I very thankful that I elected to attend this weekend and they were not alone. Unlike many hotel, the doors are not locked at night, the rear of the facility is poorly lit and there is no security guard on duty. The property is located next to a quick mart and all night dinner. Ironically, this late night visit was the only attempt to clean our room during our stay. We will not be back.

I have investigated and found that a DND was on your door one day and a guest from your room indicated they did not want service the next day per our records. The room was smaller than other upgraded best westerns we have stayed in, The bathroom did not have any towel racks, no lotion, only one regular coffee packet. No nice chair to sit on. One evening upon getting into the elevator pressing # 3 the door closed and we went to the basement. the door opened and a large laundry cart was pushed in taking up half the elevator. back to the first floor we went and the man tried to push the cart out We had to help him, We got off to talk to the receptionist, who didn't seem to care.

We arrived without reservations about mid-evening and was able to acquire one of the few remaining rooms which was king room. It was stupendous.....spacious, light decor and very immaculate. The amenities are grand, and the breakfast buffet was small yet delicious. It is easy to access from the street and from I-70. Elevators were small and slow, though. If you have many people or a group, it may be better to take the stairs.

This is probably the best Best Western Hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and the pillow-top bed was so comfy. There was a full complementary breakfast with scrambled eggs and almost everything you might like to have.

we had issues with the shuttle pick-up from Ameristar not showing for 35-45 minutes, and had issues with the night staff at the hotel in general. we stayed in a suite room with a pull-out couch that we did not have linens or pillows for, so we called and were told there were not linens for pillows in the entire hotel for us. overall the hotel itself was clean and the room was nice for a great price. the woman that checked us in and out was most friendly that we were in contact with. breakfast in the AM was delicious. would stay here again for location and price but will definitely bring my own pillows and blankets.

Loved staying here because we could bring the dog and visit with family. There were probably 20 or so dogs at the hotel and no "doggy" smells in hotel. We got the opportunity to go downtown St. Charles and shop and also the guys got to go to Bass Pro. Only draw back......rain, lots of rain and flooding

The staff at the front desk make you feel warm, welcome, and excited to stay at their property. The property is in absolutely amazing condition. The room was well above my expectations. The breakfast was amazing. The lobby was amazing. The pool was warm. The lounging room was awesome. The housekeeping staff do a amazing job. The maintenance staff are impressive. The biggest thing is I spent my Christmas at this location and they had a tremendous amount of staff available. I would like to express my deepest thanks to all of the people at this property. Our Christmas was relaxing and memorable.

Sadly, I reserved a double queen suite at the Best Western in St Charles. I am a loyal diamond member and almost always stay at a BW+ for business or pleasure. I like the concept of the suites here, two rooms for the rate of one, but it is quite a failure here. Rooms are not set up efficiently and lack most features of a traditional suite. For example, the "living" room features a coffee table, fold out couch, and a 27" TV. We use 27"ers for monitors these days. I would expect a standard sofa/love seat combo, full size desk, and sizeable television set. Bedroom was plain as well...2 standard beds and a credenza awkwardly placed as if the other hall door were intact. Light switch is also placed in standard location, but again...no door is there...you must navigate through the first room, walk through @ far side of room, and blindly make your way through the room. On the note of electricity, only 2 receptacles were accessible for use. On my quick count, there were over 10 blank covers on junction boxes in the room. Other than that, small gripes include overall cleanliness....extending into the fridge. Drywall work/patching is sloppy and HIGHLY visible throughout. Elevators are too slow and small for this property. Also slightly scary that the 8th floor doors open before the elevator stops. Final note, receptionist thought he was funny and attempted to make jokes during check in. I just got done traveling, I am ready for my room...plain and simple. On top of that, I wasn't offered welcome bag or points. Trivial, but still lacking of the staff. In the end, I was really excited about ringing in the new year and staying loyal to BW as we will soon have the Diamond Select level. After this last stay, I may look elsewhere. If you are looking for a multi room suite, do yourself a favor and stay at Ameristar or, if your location is flexible, Home2 Suites in Forest park.

"Clean Pet Friendly Hotel"

Great Location, Friendly Staff. This hotel accepts small pets for a nominal fee. ($10 a night; had to pay $25 a night at different chain in New Orleans) Room was spacious, no issues with layout or cleanliness, though would have preferred more electrical outlets for our electronics. Breakfast is fairly typical for this type of hotel, OK; nothing to write home about. The front desk staff were especially attentive in making sure our billing on check-out was accurate. My wife & I would definitely stay here again.

For a business trip i was given two places to go. I picked this motel and was surprized at the quality of the motel. Better than i expexted from a Best Western. the people were very helpful and the location was perfect for a downtown experiance.

This hotel is a mess. It was dirty and in desperate need of refurbishing. It was so bad that we took pictures and submitted them to the hotel management. As of yet we have not had anyone contact us. Stay somewhere else!

This hotel was not bad. It was a bit over priced. It was clean and comfortable just not a lot of extras. The location was great. The Old St. Charles shopping area was very close and easily accessible.

We really enjoyed our stay at the St. Charles Best Western. We stay in a lot of Best Westerns when we travel, and this one is by far the most enjoyable experience we've ever had. From the moment we checked in, until the day we checked out everyone was very pleasant and helpful. The room was very nice, well decorated, and spacious. The breakfast offerings were well done, and plentiful. We wish we'd brought our bathing suits, because the indoor pool looked very inviting. It's a large pool with a lift for anyone who might be disabled. If you are looking for a hotel in the St. Charles area, this is definitely one to check out.

bed was hard, springs felt near the top. room was plain, decor sparse. very casual atmosphere. breakfast was decent. Front entrance was odd seemed like you were entering through the back service entrance. next door to Texas roadhouse and Bass Pro Shop.

I was pleased with the accommodations, and the professional and polite front desk staff...I found them helpful and pleasant. When I did not know the address of the hotel...I called ahead and Sarah was real helpful in getting me the information and confirming my reservation. I felt she went above and beyond. Which left a positive impression from the start.

En route cross country, we stayed at several BW's. The St. Charles property was perfect for our needs, esp. since we travel with our dog. The property was convenient, the rooms clean & updated. Complimentary breakfast was just what was needed for our AM. Staff was very friendly & helpful, but couldn't make the TV in our room work. They offered us another room, which was great, but we had too much stuff (with a dog) to move.

What a wonderful experience. The room was everything it said it would be. We stayed in the King Jacuzzi suite and it was amazing. The room is very spacious. The hotel, lobby and breakfast room were all exceptionally clean. Great location for restaurants and entertainment. We loved it.

I recently had to come to St Charles on business and had my dog in tote. They were very accommodating and pleasant. Upon arrival, the person who took my reservation also checked me in and was happy to see my dog too! The stay was great! I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant staff.

From the time I checked in our group of 5 rooms to the time we checked out, did not have one less than acceptable experience. Front desk staff was efficient with check in and check out process, which made the entire stay much easier

It was easy to drive to the airport from the hotel. The breakfast was excellent, staff friendly and helpful. The Best Western PLUS The Charles Hotel didn't seem as "fancy" as other Best Western Plus hotels we have stayed in, but it was nice, comfortable and clean and we would stay there again.

IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND! NO SIGNAGE OVER EITHER THE FRONT OR BACK ENTRANCE! Located behind a Denny's, if you are lucky enough to find it! One enters a depressing, shabby hotel with diarrhea colored walls and an equally depressing color scheme throughout. Expensive for what it is ....we would never return!

My wife are temporarily living in different cities (she in Michigan and I in Oklahoma) and were meeting in the Saint Louis area for a long weekend visit together. I selected this hotel in Saint Charles based on TripAdvisor reviews from other guests, and it's fairly close proximity to both airport & Saint Louis. Our room was a "King Suite", which was a little deceiving in that it is not a suite as you would normally expect, but actually two rooms that had been converted into a two room suite. in the room you entered from the corridor there was a bathroom, some comfortable seating, tables, a writing desk, microwave, and mini refrigerator, there was also a flat screen TV that I think would be considered small by hotel standards these days. From that room you went through a door opening, that was at one time used to connect the two rooms, to the bedroom side of the "suite". It is very roomy but laid out oddly in my opinion, the light switch in the bedroom side was still located over on the wall next to where the entrance door from the hall used to be, which has been filled in with drywall & painted the outline of which was easy to see . There were funny open areas where it looks like something should be, perhaps an arm chair for reading in the bedroom next to the floor lamp, more local art on the walls to fill the gaps would be better also, to me it just feels like two hotel rooms that were partially remodeled, but not a suite. The two bathrooms seem to have also been partially updated with a granite vanity surface, under-mount sink, large mirrors, and ceramic tile floor etc, but then the tub surround, shower heads seem old and dated. The shower curtains in both bathrooms appeared to have been placed on the rod backwards and inside out, with the tag left sticking out on the room side in both bathrooms. We noticed the comforter was stained, and placed on the bed so the long tag would be in your face, the carpet base was pulled away in the bedroom.... It was a nice room, the common areas were well kept, the staff was mostly friendly, but the attention to detail seemed to be lacking. In the end we were left wondering what determined when a property was considered a "Plus", as we have stayed at "standard" Best Western's that seemed to have much nicer furnishings, more comfortable mattresses/pillows, updated room decor's, and better amenities. It was clean and mostly comfortable, some of the behind the scenes staff we encountered went out of their way to be extremely friendly while some front of the house staff seemed indifferent to us when spoken to. It wasn't a bad stay, I guess we were just expecting a "Plus" experience and that did not happen.The breakfast staff was wonderful each day! That being said, I am still a loyal Best Western, Business Advantage & Diamond Elite member, My wife and I plan to return to the Saint Louis area for a longer stay, probably in the spring, but I believe during that next visit we will likely stay at one of the other BWI properties in the area.

I checked in and was given my room key. Went to 5th floor, smelly..Went to eat and came back and found my bed was wet on the matress..Must have been cleaned and not dry..Had trouble with internet, front desk was kind of rude, couldn't understand her. Otherweise average.

The maid service was lacking. There were 4 adults in the room. The towels were removed even when you left them hanging up. Sometimes we got 2 wash cloths and three towels or three towels and 1 washcloth or just two towels and one washcloth. We stayed 4 nights and had to ask for either towels and washcloths every night. On the third night we had to ask for toilet paper. The hotel was fine, and breakfasts pretty good. Eggs, meat, waffles, biscuits and gravy, juice etc. Close to shopping and a three minute drive to old town St Charles. Nothing to rave about but is clean. There is a 2 dollar charge for the in room safe it you use it.

We needed a place to stay one night while passing through St. Louis and wanted to be close to the Bass Pro Shop. This hotel turned out to be an excellent choice. Although it is an older building it's been remodeled and feels clean, fresh and new. Our room was very nice, roomy and just as comfortable as some of the higher priced hotels. Free breakfast is available from 6-9 (weekdays) but since we arrived late, did not get up early enough to have a chance to check it out. If we're ever in the area again and need a place to stay, this will be our first choice. Thanks TripAdvisor for the special rate too - $80 for a King room, one night stay!

This was a comfortable, clean and friendly atmosphere. A nice place to rest and visit between our shopping trips and meals at local restaurants. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was tasty and there was a wide variety of choices. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

For the cost, the rooms and breakfast were not worth it. When we asked about additional blankets, we were told that the hotel was full and there weren't any more. The mirror in the bathroom was loose, the shower curtain rod hung down and shower head barely put out a steady stream of water.

We had a coupon for this hotel, didn't have a reservation, stopped in on Monday evening after visiting the Arch, very friendly front desk service, managed to get a 6th floor room with our coupon. Only 1 elevator working to service 8 floors was a little slow at times but not a big issue for us. Texas Roadhouse was right behind building, along with Firehouse Subs, and both Chinese and Mexican restaurants. We walked over to Texas Roadhouse our first night, hotel gave 10% of coupon, walked to Firehouse subs the next night. Bass Pro Shop, Aldi's and several other stores complete this shopping center. Denny's is located in front of the hotel along with an Exxon market. Large breakfast area with the usual hotel items. Manager was in both mornings checking with guests on their stay. Tuesday night after visiting the St. Louis zoo all day we had the pool to ourselves. ALL employees we encountered were very friendly and we would stay here again if in the area!

This hotel was clean and updated nicely but the elevators were very slow and the clerk couldn't answer our question about what occupancy tax was; they charged us for the safe $2/day when we never used the safe; quote was not what they said it would be upon check out; tub was small and slick; bed pillows were crumpled up and bed was very hard. But room was clean and the breakfast was nice and hot

The Best Western Plus offers comfortable rooms right off highway 70, at a decent price with great amenities. Yes, they have free, dependable internet. They give you a free breakfast with sausage and bacon, though the Waffle House nearby beacons. This is not a luxury or destination hotel, but there is a pool, and I can imagine that it could suffice for a long weekend with the kids. Ask for a room at the end of the hall for extra quiet.

My wife and I wanted to visit St. Charles, as we heard it was a beautiful area with many nice shops. We decided to stay at this hotel since it was listed as "pet friendly" and had good reviews. Overall, it was OK. It was clean and the staff were generally pleasant and nice, but there were some issues. First thing we encountered was it is an 8 floor hotel, with just 2 elevators to service the entire building. HOWEVER, upon our arrival, we were informed that 1 was down for maintenance and would not be back in service until after we left. So, that left only 1 elevator to service all 8 floors. The working elevator had been serviced the week before, so it seems they would be using 1 elevator for about 2 weeks. This was no where on their website and would have influenced our decision to stay there, mainly because we brought our elderly dog to this "pet friendly" hotel. Like I said, it is listed as "pet friendly", but I would say its not 100%, since we were handed a page of restrictions upon check in. Included was there area there were allowed to use to relieve themselves, which had several pine trees. I'm fine with a restricted area for the animals to use, as not all guests had pets with them. However, it was quite hilly and difficult for my older pet to navigate. Especially troublesome was the hole I tripped in on the hill. It was a hollow metal sign pole that was cut off at ground level. The hole wasn't filled in and if a dog stepped in it, it would likely cause a serious injury. Lastly, I did not appreciate the comment from a male front desk worker, who commented about my dog's "quality of life" because I was carrying her in and out so she could use the "potty hill". As stated above, she is elderly and a bit arthritic and isn't too good on slick surfaces. We will be staying at a different hotel out next trip.

Making the long trek from Colorado to Indiana I hopped off (at a random exit) of I-70 just east of St Louis in St Charles. The clerk at the front desk was very pleasant and gave me a room on the first floor - I did not have a reservation. The room was nicely furnished, very clean, quiet and convenient to parking. The hotel is located in a very safe location and close to a casino, Firehouse Sub and Bass Pro shop (within walking distance). I enjoyed the breakfast bar and was on my way.

The rooms in this hotel were very good. My issue was the elevators. One was not working at all, and the other was so slow servicing 8 floors that we ended up walking up to the fifth floor to our room. The other issue is that this is a non smoking hotel, but you have to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke to get in the door. Smoking area is just outside the door...

This is one of 11 motels my wife and I stayed in on a two week trip. We found this one to be clean and comfortable. The Staff was courteous and helpful. Access off of the interstate is a little tricky coming from the North, the entrance turn is just beyond on ramp going back to the North.

Rooms, beds, bathrooms, lobby and breakfast area were excellent. They just need to train the staff at the front desk customer service. That person is the first impression for your guest. It is very important they have good training. They need to train them to be more helpful when a guest is having a small problem. Friendliness too. Just to be clear, the other staff at the front desk the next morning was Excellent. The problem was with the Check In Staff personnel which first impressions are very important.

nothing plus about this hotel. Could not walk to the historic district. I was told there was a free shuttle but waited and the shuttle never came. Staff could not tell me when it would arrive. Room just average. Bathroom terrible...so small

We experienced a couple of issues with the hotel, but the overall feel is that it's outdated and on its way out. 1. We asked for infant beds during our reservation process, we arrived at the hotel with sleeping babies and the beds weren't in the room. After asking for them from the front desk, it was an additional 20-30 minutes before they brought them up. 2. The elevators are terribly slow here. I'm talking like, wait 5 minutes for an elevator, slow.

The complimentary hot breakfast was outstanding! So many items to choose from. I was not expecting that amount of food for free! Everything was absolutely delicious. My family also LOVED the orange juice! The only suggestion I have is to change your paper coffee cups. My husband had to change cups three times because they were all leaking. However overall I give it a BIG 10!!!

This was a good 1 or 2 night hotel that is close to everything. The physical is somewhat dated but it has been renovated. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Previous reviews said the front desk was rude but she was excellent. We arrived around 9pm and had several problems that were not the hotels fault, she Handled them efficiently. We would stay here again
