    « Convenience and Comfort »

Convenient to trolley and Historic Downtown. Clean and courteous staff! I have stayed there on both my trips to St Augustine and will continue to make this Best Western my choice. The b'fast was tasty!

    « One Night Only »

So yes the WiFI here works. The Direct TV works. The lady at the front desk was friendly. This definitely has a motel feel, however. No interior corridor rooms. Stayed here because it is directly across from the St. Augustine visitor's center where I need to be in the morning. And it is one night. There are stains on the curtain and shower curtain. Trace mildew. Tight but ample parking they charge $%.00 per day for it. No worries as long as the car is safe. Updated furnishings and flat screen, but room is small.

    « Great stay! »

The staff was friendly and helpful, and they really try to anticipate the needs of their patrons. The room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities we could need. Their breakfast spread also anticipated the needs of different people- lots of variety- and all tasty. All this with the fabulous location helped make our trip really memorable!

    « Very pleasant stay »

Only one night but it was very nice. Walking distance to lots of activities and the trolley. The employees were all very nice. Some areas of the hotel are showing some wear but we would stay here again with no problem at all.

« Awesome location, housekeeping two thumbs down »

This a an awesome location when it comes to the location to the historical district of St. Augustine. You can walk everywhere and know that you don't have to find parking for you vehicle. That in itself is a benefit. However, there is one issue that if my husband had not been so tired, we would have checked out this evening immediately. We ended up in a room on the second floor. After depositing our luggage, we immediately went out an explored the historical area of St Augustine. Three hours later we return to the room, tired and ready to go to bed after some time relaxing. However, we soon encountered some issues. 1) The towel my husband picked up off the bathroom sink had already been used and as he picked it up, someone elses hair fell out of it. And it wasn't a little hair, it was a considerable amount of shaved hair. That was disgusting. 2) Someone had spit on the bathroom sink faucet and left a wad of toothpaste on the faucet. Crusted over it had obviously been there for awhile. 3) One of the pillows were stained. I ended up having to go through all the pillows and make sure they were usable. Unfortunately, I also had to sniff them to make sure they smelled "fresh". Any of them that didn't pass the sniff test, ended up tossed on the other bed. 4) The bed's bedspread also had stains. Really now? Can't you either remove them from the room or throw bleach on the bed spread? It is really and truly disgusting to have a bedspread with yellow stains from previous guests. So with these issues, our sleep this night is already guaranteed to be less than spectacular. Our certainty of a clean bed is gone. If shortcuts were made in basic rudimentary items, what guarantee do we have that the bed that we rented for the night? None. So we spent our night ripping off the top bedspread and then sleeping between the blanket and the top sheet. This has been on of the worst Best Western's we have stayed at. Will I recommend this hotel? Definitely not. Not unless their housekeeping can be brought up to par. Until then, my recommendation is to spend a few more dollars and stay at another location. You will be guaranteed a better night's sleep.

« Great stay in great location »

Spent 3 nights here on the way to Marco Island. Had a great stay. The location is fantastic...walking distance to lots of attractions and places to dine. Motel was clean and staff was nice. Would return for sure.

    « Passing through »

My wife booked this motel for our return trip from Miami. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the accommodations. Beds were comfortable, breakfast was good and the walkability to everything really did make this perfect for an overnight accommodations. I would definitely recommend this for an overnight or long weekend stay.

« Great Location and accomodations »

My mother and I visited Saint Augustine for the first time this year and we wanted to stay at a clean hotel that was located walking distance from the historical district and was reasonably priced. We were very happy with this hotel. We did not have to drive since it was so close to everything we wanted to see. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but comfortable and very clean. There was free WIFI in the room and a coffee machine in the lobby that we could use anytime!! That was very handy. The free breakfast was very convenient and helped us save money that we allocated to other things which was really nice. There was fruit, cereal, pastries and drinks always available throughout the day as well, which was really generous! I plan on using this hotel again and have and will recommend it to the people I know. They are really customer centric and that is not so easy to find!

« Try It You Will Like It »

You can walk to the parties. lots of Historical sites Beaches are close. There are many things offered in such a small are. Trolly rides horse and carriage rides and so much more. I need 29 more chara

    « Excellent location »

This hotel seems older, but it looks like it has been updated. The rooms themselves are a bit crowded, especially the bathroom. Breakfast was good, but it also has a very small room where you can eat. That said, the location is excellent which is why we stayed there. It is a short walk to the historic areas that you would want to visit. Parking is available for $5 a night.

    « Awesome customer service. »

My boyfriend has a bad habit of never booking a room when we go out of town. I am glad we pulled in best western. We had the best customer service out of Melissa. She was super sweet, super nice, and extremely helpful. Will recommend staying here to anyone if all the staff is awesome and she is. :)

    1
    « GROSS! »

nasty, dirty room, would never recommend or stay there again. the toilet has poop fromprior guest. the room smelled like mildew. the mattress was bigger than the box spring. the front officeperson was super tired o frepeating the same process over and over

    « vacation »

Entire staff very knowledgeable and helpful about events and the area, we would like to recognize Melissa and Sherry they were awesome in helping us , Breakfast at the hotel was very enjoyable and the compliment beverages were always available and appreciated. The pool area was clean and the hot tub was comfortable.

« Better than we had expected »

We came and stayed 2 nights with our two teens and toddler. We were not interested in amenities, as we were not planning on spending much time in the room and wanted to be able to walk everywhere. PROS: Rooms were clean, customer service was wonderful, included breakfast was great, hotel is close to everything CONS: Rooms were a bit small The customer service was the best part. Every person we spoke with was friendly and helpful

    3
    « St. Augustine »

The hotel is ideally located for walking in the historic district. Our room was clean but felt crowded. The air conditioning was loud but it most likely muffled the street noise. It's a good place to stay if you just want a place to sleep after touring St. Augustine.

    3
    « Good and Bad »

We arrived around 6 pm, checked in and went out to eat. When we finally came back around 9 p.m., we discovered that our room a/c and telephone were not functioning. Although Melissa in the front office was quick to address the problem, we ended up having to switch rooms. Luckily, there was one available, but it meant doing a bit of re-packing since we were trying to get our son ready for bed. The "new" room had functioning a/c and phone, but the toilet was slow and we blew a fuse plugging in a hairdryer and our electronics at the same time. We lost all the lights in the room. The room had comfortable beds, and they delivered breakfast to the room, or you could go to the lobby restaurant. The location was excellent, but the room was fairly noisy and the curtains didn't fully block the edge of the window so that we had to tuck the liner behind the door handle to prevent people from looking in. The lobby had great hot chocolate and juice available all the time. I'm not sure we got our money's worth though!

    3
    « "Average" »

The location here is wonderful, walking distance to everything. Parking is 5 dollars a night the rooms are clean bathroom is very small but sufficient. The breakfast area is very small and doesn't accommodate many people food was ok. I would stay again for the location. Be careful of the visiting center directly in front of the hotel it's not the "actual" visiting center they have people standing out there trying to get you inside to give you free tickets to all the attractions the catch is you have to watch an hour and a half presentation and a high sells pitch on timeshares. The actual visiting center is in front of the parking garage.

    « A Great Location »

We stayed at the Best Western Spanish Quarters inn for three nights. It is a very good motel and it is in a great location. You can park your car and walk to wherever you want to go. The only reason we had to move the car was for shopping and finding a laundromat as the machine at the motel was not working. The breakfast area was small but it worked out well and the food was good.

    5
    « Great location »

The location was great ,hotel clean with breakfast included ,parking right there $5.00 a night. The visitor center right next door, walking close to almost everything, great resturants ,. We took a ride with I believe the name is explore It cost $20 for each of us it was great they also will pick you up and take you to different places for $3.00 each .

    5
    « Great location! »

Best location. Walk to many attractions. The room is clean and comfortable, but the bathroom is small, not a concern for us. Breakfast was the usual fare, eggs, sausage, make your own waffles. Stop by anytime to grab a small muffin or piece of fruit. Front desk staff were all outstanding....very knowledgeable and helpful. One staffer recommended Barnical Bills for dinner, just behind the motel, lousy food and service.

    « Loved it! »

Really clean updated room. No pets allowed and no smoking which was nice since I have allergies to both. Really good pricing. We were super impressed with the room. Love having the sheets with blanket in between instead of a bedspread that never gets washed.

    4
« Its all about location »

It is a very convenient hotel in terms of the location next door to the downtown area, historic attractions and dining. Clean and neat, the front desk service was excellent - it is always pleasant when the reception makes you feel good. The room was very basic, and the included breakfast was eatable (the best way to describe it) For the price they charge per night (close to $150) it should have been much better. But St. Augustine is a real tourist trap and we all pay for it...

    3
« GREAT LOCATION BUT A LITTLE DATED »

Hotel is within walking distance for the Castillo as well as downtown, which is a plus. Our welcome at check in was excellent. Sherry not only provided us with a map of the area, but discount dining coupons as well as suggestions. Hotel is a little dated, so parking was a little tight. Room was comfortable but a little cramped. Guest laundry was a plus. We had one service issue that was taken care of promptly. Overall, a good stay.

    3
    « Basic but good »

This hotel is very close to historic St Augustine. Rooms are attractively decorated but very small. Do not bring lots of luggage or want to pass each other in the night. You pay for parking..presumably to keep tourists out. Free breakfast is not desirable. If you were on I-95 you would think it was a dump, but then you'd have to find a parking space. We are flexible and only stayed one night.

    4
    « Great location »

Great location. You are right across from Ripley's (which is close to the fort). Room and bathroom was clean. Parking was right there. The bathroom is a bit small but you aren't spending that much time there. Really no complaints. Breakfast isn't anything to write home about but they have the cereal + milk option or fruit (didn't love the eggs or anything they "made"). No issues with noise with the exception of hearing people walk by your room (which you hear at every hotel). I would stay there again, especially with the low cost parking AND location.

    4
    « A great location at a great value »

We prefer to save money on our hotels when we travel but don't want to sacrifice sleep or comfort. This hotel was very clean, had very comfortable beds and had much better offerings for lobby snacks and breakfast than most similar hotels. The lobby always offered fruit-infused water, but also had included hot drinks (tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc.) and the breakfasts included items that we're not used to seeing such as almond milk, more varied pastries and fruit and just generally better options than other hotels we've stayed at. The location was within easy walking distance from every single major attraction of the old city. It did get a bit noisy because of all the tour trains and trolleys full of rowdy visitors passing by, but nothing that earplugs couldn't fix.

    4
« A decent place for a decent price in a great location »

This is a nice place in a great location. The rooms are a bit small, but clean and comfortable with great amenities for the price. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The breakfast is decent and they have an absolutely killer wonderful coffee machine, available all the time. Parking is an extra $5 a day, well worth it in downtown. It's only steps to the visitor center and St. George Street, and right across from Ripley's.

    5
    « Perfect location »

Very clean hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering suggestions and coupons for local attractions and restaurants. Perfectly located - convenient to everything. Would definitely recommend this hotel and it will be our go to hotel on future visits to the area.

    3
    « Great location »

Great location, hop on hop off trolley across the street, noisy, room not soundproof, no hair dryer, small breakfast area, walking distance to most of the must see attractions, close to local shops and restaurant.

    5
    « So convenient »

This Best Western was so convenient to everything we wanted to do while we were staying in Saint Augustine. We were able to get a great breakfast both nights that we stayed which enabled us to skip lunch and save money! We would highly recommend staying here. Cannot wait until we visit again!

    « Great stay! »

We came to St.Augustine, FL for their Nights of Lights festival. This hotel's location is perfect! Right across the street from the trolly pick-up location. And within easy walking distance to the historic district. The hotel is in a perfect location for touring St. Augustine. And the hotel is all you would hope for...nice clean and comfortable rooms, and very pleasant and cheerful staff.

    2
« Not worth the location premium »

Not well kept motel. Stay further out of town if you need to be economic on your stay. Room had tiny bothroom...had to straddle toilet to close door. Furniture was too big for the room. They did the nest they could for a decent breakfast selection though.

    3
    « good location but that's it! »

The location of this hotel is great but if it's a friendly staff you are looking for don't stay here. With the exception of 1 employee who helped fix our cable the rest of the staff seemed very unhappy to be there and unhelpful! Tiny ants in our room, very small bathroom.

    4
    « Location can't be beat! »

This property is a 1960's building right in the historical area, so do not expect spacious rooms or elevators. However, the staff is super friendly and helpful on the phone and in person. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable, though the space is a bit cramped for a family of four. Breakfast and coffee was good, too. Best reason to book is that you can walk to everything in the historic district after you park the car.

« A Few Tips about the BW Spanish Quarters Inn »

If you are looking for something really close to historic St. Augustine and fairly reasonable, Spanish Quarters would be a high consideration. A walk in less than five minutes will get you to the historic city gate to St. George's Street. We have stayed at this Inn three different times. First of all, the staff is friendly. We have met Sheri on all three visits. She will give you some handy discount coupons and local advice. The staff seemed to always wear a smile and was more than apologetic when you met them in the small hallways. This hotel is divided by downstairs and upstairs rooms. If you have any mobility issues, I would call and request a downstairs room. The steps going to the second floor are narrow and steep. There is only room for one person. This is an older hotel. The rooms are small. You will probably be running into each other. The bathroom is separated from the wash basin and the toilet and tub area. I almost fell into the tub as I was closing the bathroom door. The sink basin area was made for leprechauns. There is a mini fridge and a good size TV. Unlike some Best Westerns we have stayed at, Spanish Quarters does have HBO in the 500 channel section. The concrete block style room made it fairly soundproof. However, if anything occurred outside, like the garbage truck noise at 6:00 AM, the glass pane does not hold out any noise. My wife found the bed uncomfortable. I found it to be ?ok.? She also found ?small ants? over our tooth brushes. Breakfast was for me ample. However, the Apple juice was one of worst juices I have ever tasted. It was watered down. My wife did not like the ?packaged? hard boiled eggs. It was the first time we have encountered eggs presented this way. She kept thinking, ?how long has these eggs been packaged?? Breakfast is from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. I did come down on our last morning at 6:42AM and the front door was locked. Luckily, it was back opened by 7:00 AM. There is a good size pool. Kids love to play in it during the warmer months. Spanish Quarters BW Inn is one of four Best Westerns in St. Augustine that are owned by the same company/family. The only other BW we stayed in was Bayfront BW in the central part of the historic area. There too the rooms are small, more expensive and no breakfast. There is a Trip Advisor Award on the front door giving Spanish Quarters high honors. At one time in 2011, it was a very good budget hotel. After our third visit, it is time to say, ?Adios Spanish Quarters.? If you found this review ?helpful? in any way, please press ?LIKE? to let me know.

    « Pleasent stay »

every year we go to St Augustine in December we have stayed at all 3 Best Westerns in the City the Spanish Quarters Inn is our favorite. In walking distance from the historical sections of St Augustine.

    3
    « No breakfast »

Breakfast was from 0600-1000. I left at 0730 and no one was in the front desk and no breakfast. I did not report it to staff because no one was there. I had to hurry up and find somewhere to eat prior to my meeting. It was an inconvenience

    3
    « good location »

the hotel is decent and you can walk to everything. a little noisy on dumpster side if you are they when its trash pick up , and it is early! paying to park there is ridiculous in my opinion. It should be free.

    5
    « Perfect location »

Hotel is located with walking distance of almost all attractions. Right across the street from Ripleys Believe it or not. St. George's street is one block away! Saved money by not having to pay to park so we could enjoy the sites. Hotel was quiet. Staff was amazing!

    « Great location »

We stayed 2 nights and found this to be centrally located. Staff was very helpful and the room was very clean although very cozy as small room. Breakfast was good and the attendant very cordial. Barnacle Bills Seafood restaurant next door had delicious seafood and reasonably priced. Very convenient location.

    4
« Saint Augustine Nights of Lights »

My wife and I always enjoy staying at the Best Western Spanish Quarters for the occasion of Nights of Lights. The hotel is always clean and the employees are professional and treat us with respect and friendliness. They are always ready and willing to assist in any request we have.

    3
« Great location to Old St Augustine's »

This is an old small motel with new paint. Parking is very tight(small spaces) at $5/day. Rooms are small but clean, the bathroom needed a new ceiling fan (way too loud) and wall the paper was falling off. The bathroom door & main room Door required slaming to close. But the location and friendly staff was Great.

    2
    « Location, location, location »

If location is your No. 1 consideration, you can overlook the shortcomings of this hotel. Small rooms, old but clean. Rooms still smell of old smoke, good staff, generous breakfast. convenient $5 parking. Beds are confortable. I wouldn't consider a long-term stay, but for one, possibly two, nights it is good value for the money.

    5
    « Great location »

Always friendly, helpful employees. Location is great, and the rooms are clean and comfortable as well. We have stayed at this location for several nights for each of the five trips we have made to St. Augustine. It really is our ?go to? place!

    3
    « Best western »

Friendly staff, great location. The hotel is old and could use some updating but overall experience was good. We didn't have to drive at all because the location was within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go.

    4
« Older motel in a tourist city »

The motel is older but well maintained. The room are small and the bathroom is even smaller. There is no chair except for the desk chair which did not lend its self to be comfortable for watching TV. The TV is set up for people who like to shop as it seemed that the majority of the channels were shopping networks. Regular TV entertainment stations were few. The one thing that bothered us is that we had to pay to park, thought that was excessive, not the cost but that it was charged. We talked to people who stayed in other hotels, thay did not pay to park.

    4
« Very Convenient to St.George St. and The Fortress »

We visited the day after Thanksgiving. when we checked in the lady at the check in was very nice and explained everything. We wanted a hotel close to the visitors center and the visitor center and St. George St. This was it and we really appreciated that. The room was clean and kept. The room is a little cramped for space, but for such a place and the style of buildings there, it fits. We had two double beds (very comfortable). The room had a refrigerator, TV with actual HD programming, so the TV actually looked nice to watch. Shower was clean. Everyone we came across at the hotel were pleasant and addressed us. The breakfast was great! Pancakes, sausage, muffins, eggs (scrambled and hard boiled), cereal in single serve packs, juice and a fantastic coffee machine! It is slow, but worth the wait. Whole bean coffee that gets grinded when you punch in what type you want. They have trays you can put your food on and take back to your room if it is full in the eating area. Fruit, bread and fruit in cups, like Dole fruit cups. Very good. We were happy with this visit.

    4
    « Good Location »

This hotel has great location to old town St. Augustine, close enough to walk to most places. The hop on-hop off trolley has stops close to hotel if you don't want to walk. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful with information. Bed very comfortable, room tight but wasn't in room enough to matter. Breakfast usual motel breakfast, good but not anything special. Would stay there again if back in town.

    5
    « unplanned stop over »

We stopped here on our way back to NC. St.Augustine was about the half way point. We were going to try the Best Western on the main street but it was way too busy trying to get in and get out of there, so we drove a little further and stumbled upon this BW. Great location to everything and much easier getting in and out of traffic.

  • 3
    « St Augustine »

Hotel is old. Clean but our room was a little musty. a/c was noisy(expected from old hotel). Breakfast was good. Staff friendly. Our tub was not draining properly. Parking is very tight and you have to pay for it per night. What made up for this hotel is the proximity to the city center.

    4
    « Great historic location »

We have stayed in St Augustine many times since it is my favorite city in Florida and this was our first time staying at the Best Western Spanish Quarters Inn. We picked it because of the close proximity to the historic St Georges street and the cost compared to the others in the area. It is a short walk to the old gate, the fort, cemetery and it is located across the street from the main parking garage. Flagler college and the museum are a bit further away but its not horrible. Hotel was quiet and clean. Hotel staff was friendly. $5 parking fee at the hotel. We will definitely stay at this location in the future!

    3
    « Okay... »

Location was great. The bathtub was backed up every time it was used (since day 1), tons of sugar ants, and after a couple hours of watching TV the sound would go out. Both my partner and I had rashes/bumps from sleeping in the bed but we aren't sure what caused it. We are thinking it could have been from the detergent used but with the other problems that happened, we will look for a different place to stay in the future.

    4
« Clean and comfortable with a surprising breakfast experience »

Clean and comfortable . Bathroom is tight but was clean as was the room. Front Desk girl was a delight as well as the breakfast woman who did an amazing job on the presentation, neatness and overall experience of the entire breakfast! as it was a small area. She deserves an A++

    5
« Great place to stay »

Best Western Spanish Quarter's is a great and simple place to stay. Good staff, hot breakfast, walking distance to all the sites. Staff are very helpful as well. Rooms are good size and the beds are very comfortable.

    « It's ok, clean. »

It was very small. We stayed for only 1 night so it was fine. Can't imagine staying much longer. It was clean. Bathroom was tiny and outdated. The location was great and walking distance to all the great shps and restaurants

« Do Not Stay Here »

Booked for 2 nights in September but ended up only staying 1 night. Room smelled really musty and I woke up after the first night with a sore throat and headache. Complained to Manager when we first arrived but told the hotel was fully booked and we could not be moved. Funny but we saw a lot of empty rooms as we passed by. Think they were not as accommodating as we booked through Travelocity not Best Western. On top of that room was dirty, especially bathroom. Air Conditioning kept cutting out. Breakfast was ok but such a small room you were falling over the other guests. Close to downtown but many other options better than this. Will never stay there again.

    3
    « Needs work »

Stayed at the hotel for vacation for 3 days. Staff very friendly, good location to walk to many attractions. Room was clean. Peeling wallpaper in toilet which was very small. Leaking toilet. Washing machine was broken. Room key would not work repeatedly, even after allegedly being fixed. Battery compartment had electrical tape holding battery in place. Staff told me that this was caused by hurricane, which I highly doubt. Other than having to do laundry off site and get staff to let us in room multiple times, was pleasant stay. Beds very comfortable and hotel is far enough away from downtown to keep noise level down. Pool and hot tub worked well. Room 101 needs maintenance.

    5
    « Nice »

I stayed there during my power outage. The rooms was very clean. We had a room 3 doors from the pool. So needless to say we hung out by the pool. The staff was very friendly. The free breakfast was more than I expected and very good. The beds were very comfortable. I would definitely stay again

    3
    « Not bad for a motel »

Stayed here one night on business. Very friendly staff. Room was definitely dated I guess ? It wasn't dirty but you could tell they turned it over many, many times. I don't have a problem with that. Rugs, floors and bed were clean. With room turnover you tend to get the dirt in the corners where the mop misses and a few scuffs on furniture, etc., but overall the room was okay. Free breakfast was much better than I expected. Bed was VERY comfortable. Check in/check out with no problems. Wasn't noisy. I'd stay here again.

Hotels were almost vacant in the area, prices were way overpriced. This was best, but should have been 25% lower. We only need a place to put our luggage, clean up, and then leave the next morning. Overall, adequate.

    « Walking distance value »

The location of this hotel is great for easy touring of St, Augustine!! You can walk to all major attractions, dining, bars and waterfront areas and not worry about parking!! The staff was helpful in providing directions and information. The hotel is a great value in the area.

The Best Western Spanish Quarters Inn located in St. Augustine Florida was an awesome value! The best part is the location of the hotel as it is within walking distance of so many attractions. And if you don't feel like walking there is a trolley service right across the street that will take you all over this lovely city. After a day out you can return to relax in the large pool or hot tub.

« Great location, friendly staff, clean room and great breakfast »

The location was perfect for seeing the sites. The Breakfast was amazing and great selection for a hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are small but it is an older hotel design. Bathroom very small. Very close to trolley stops and within walking distance of many sites. We have stayed here in the past and would return.

« Two terrible nights of sleep! »

We chose this hotel for 2 nights because of its location and booked it on Tripadvisor through Expedia on the day of check-in. Unfortunately the room we got was very small and badly in need of updating. The A/C was very noisy and along with the noise from the street, we barely slept a couple of hours. We tried to cancel the 2nd night but the hotel manager would not allow us to do so. He did allow us to switch rooms to another part of the hotel. The traffic noise still kept us awake. We thought we would save on parking and found out that the hotel charges $5.00 a night parking on top of the hotel rate. Overall I would not recommend this hotel. I'd suggest you get a hotel on Vilano (sp?) island and get away from the traffic.

    « Not a good experience »

This facility is in great need of major updating. Our room was dirty and the size of the bathroom (toilet & tub area) was ridiculously small. The breakfast room was extremely small (only four very small tables and eight chairs) for the number of rooms at this hotel. One positive was the location which is close to two of the trolley stops.

    5
« Great hotel, great location, great bang for your buck »

Hotel employees were courteous, attentive, very helpful and knowledge with the St. Augustine area. We were able to check in as soon as we arrived. The breakfast (included in the daily rate) was varied, plentiful and tasty. We've already recommended this hotel to some friends.

    « Very satisfied customer »

This was my fourth stay at this hotel and it is always a great place to relax, the service and staff are excellent, the price is fair as well. I would recommend this to anyone that was planning to visit St Augustine, FL.

    « great location »

For the money, this is a decent place to stay. Great location. Nice toiletries. Towels were decent and plentiful. Actual hangers to put things on. Big refrigerator that worked well. I did not find the bed comfortable. Too hard for me, little square memory foam pillows resisted being slept on, sheets and blankets are thin. The pool is decent but needs repairs as does the hot tub. The first day when I asked at the desk how to turn the hot tub on I got a lengthy lecture about the difference between a hot tub and a jacuzzi. I was told what they have is a hot tub, no bubbles or jets. I was informed when I make a reservation somewhere I should pay attention to what kind they have. We did go in the hot tub and it needs repairs and a thorough cleaning. the jets clearly do not work properly. (and, I checked my reservation and it said "hot tub/jacuzzi" . I wonder what I'm supposed to expect from that based on what the young lady told me. Hot breakfast is ok but the area is tiny where it is hosted is tiny. Go early if you want to get a place to eat. Some people sat in the lobby, some took their food to tables by the pool. Ice machine leaks and the hallway is always wet. Get a room on the office side of the hotel. The other side has a lot of trash trucks, traffic, noise. although the parking lot is bigger and easier to use on that side. It's not luxurious there but what do you expect for such a reasonable price?

    2
    « Great location but... »

The location of the hotel is ideal; it is within walking distance of all of the major Historic District attraction and very convenient for the Trolley. The hotel itself leaves much to be desired. The room was a disappointment , the AC barely worked, fridge barely worked and had been stripped of any shelves. THe bathroom was VERY small which I could have dealt with had it been clean, Unfortunately it was covered in hair from the previous stay, wallpaper was peeling badly and the corners were full of dirt and hair. The rooms need a serious updating ... the blankets were so old and pilled that I took them off and used just the sheets. Staff was very friendly , especially Sheri.

« Great hotel depending on season »

We travel to St. Augustine several times per year because it's a fun city to visit. Recently, hotel prices in St. Augustine have gone through the roof which keeps us from going as often as we like. This hotel reduced rates a bit and it makes it affordable. I heard this same comment from other guests. The value rating is based on off season. None of the hotels are worth the prices during the tourist season.

    3
« Close to historic St. Augustine »

Our room air conditioner wasn't working to full capacity which was rough since it was a very hot day. Also, was astonished that we had to pay $5 per vehicle for parking. People were nice. Everything in historic area in walking distance.

    4
« Friendly staff, especially the night front desk lady, »

Conveniently located near the historic sites in SA. We walked to the Castillo San Marcos, the shopping strip, and old St. Augustine where houses are +100 years old. Basic free breakfast and complimentary parking. We liked that since we only stayed one night but wanted to go and explore in the morning, we were allowed to leave our vehicle and we did not have to rush to get it after check out time. Friendly staff, especially the night front desk lady, she was waiting for me! I wished I could have asked her name. They offer tickets for the trolley ( we did not use) Highly recommended.

    « Pacino's trip to St. Augustine »

Had a great time visiting area. Saw a lot of history in the city of St. Augustine. People were friendly and enjoyed a great meal at The Conch Restaurant. Will go back again. There are attractions we didn't get to so we visit them on our next trip to St. Augustine !

    4
« Perfect location, friendly staff! »

My daughter and I were only in St Augustine for one night, so wanted to make the most of our time. This hotel is within walking distance to many of the old landmarks -- the fort, St. George Street, the cathedral. It was about a 2-mile round-trip from the hotel to see the sights. The woman who checked us in was wonderful. She hooked us up with coupons for local tours and attractions and for the seafood restaurant next door. The only drawback for me was the parking lot -- very tight. And the hotel itself is kind of old but the rooms are clean and comfortable so you will quickly forget about the outside. As far as value, I can't really say -- I cashed in Best Western points so got the room free. But, I will definitely return to St Augustine, and intend to stay here every time.

    5
« Great stay, great location, friendly staff »

I'm a repeat customer at this hotel and never had a bad experience. Sheri at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and breakfast selection was quite nice. Location is close to everything so no need to drive anywhere if you don't need to.

    3
« Good atmosphere close to old town. »

We loved being able to walk to old town and the fort. That simplified parking challenges in the area. Having to PAY for parking at the hotel took me aback, but it is in a premium location (across the street from Ripley's. Breakfast space was also at a premium in the hotel and both mornings it was packed full (Monday and Tuesday mornings). But space is limited in this part of town and the hotel has maximized it's use of that space.

    4
    « Nice family vacation »

If you are looking for a Luxury hotel this is not it, however if you just want a clean place to sleep after walking like crazy in this beautiful town, great location and nice beds this is your place. Staff is amazing, yes the hotel needs upgrades and some of the equipment does not work but if you can look over that rooms are very comfortable you can't get a better price for the location of hotel.

    3
« pool was being renovated »

pros,... the room was clean, close to the main street in st. augustine front desk very friendly., ... cons,... parking was terrible,... you almost have to be a professional driver to get in and out of the parking lot,... if you have a van forget it. the pool is being renovated,.. who renovates the pool in the middle of the summer? all together the stay was o.k.,... probably wouldnt stay there again.

    3
« Great location ok hotel. »

Great location and good service. Pool needs to be cleaned and repaired to be functional. If you do not need a pool and you are looking for a reasonably priced alternative to visit old St. Augustine, I would recommend this hotel.

    « Weekend trip »

Clean and comfortable rooms. Extremely friendly staff. We arrived very early and were offered breakfast since they were still serving. Located very close to trolly stops and visitor center. A little on the small side and there is a parking charge that I wasn't expecting and was not thrilled about.

    5
« Big Hearted Folks in the Heart of St Augustine »

Located in the heart of St. Augustine, just a short walk to the (fabulous) Trolley and in walking distance to the historic district, this is a great hotel. Beginning from the AGM (Sheri Jonas) to include Shannon and even Natoya; who ensures the Breakfast area is always well stocked and clean, our unforgettable experience at St. Augustine was due in part to such a great place to stay.

    4
« Clean, small, great breakfast and 5-10 minute walk to great history »

Even though the rooms are quaint, bathrooms a little small, and there is a $5 per night fee to park , this was a very clean, safe property. I truly loved how honest they were before arrival of the parking costs, many establishments do not. The breakfast : pancakes with toppings choc chip pecans, etc., egg sunny-side down, gravy and biscuits, etc. were excellent, 5 min walk through the old front gates of old St Augustine, while across the street stands Castillo de San Marcos, Fantastic location. People of St. Augustine very pleasant and helpful, including the hotel staff. It was great to see sea life at sundown, loggerheads, manatees and a shark, we loved it. Ghost watching was fun. Walking the old city was something I recommend highly. As a family that travels Florida and samples many locations, St Augustine is becoming a family favorite. Beaches free parking and restroom were you park. Not as expensive as other Florida Locations visited. Only drawback was parking near old town cost. And some attractions are rather costly. Hotel pool was closed until noon for the day departing but staff let us have a swim to cool before leaving. Thank you for a positive spin on our families vacation.

    5
« Great location, clean room »

This hotel is within walking distance of most of the attractions in the historic area of St. Augustine. Rooms were clean. Was a good value compared to other hotels and inns in the area. Breakfast was good but eating area is small. Would definitely stay here again.

    5
« In-The Heart of Downtown St. Augustine »

Centrally located in the heart of St. Augustine with access to all tourist locations including Old Towne Trolley (a must do), St. George Street (a must see), the Castillo San Marcos and other significant points of interest. Great caring staff, clean rooms and a delightful breakfast.

    4
« Nice stay great location »

This hotel is in a perfect location and the breakfast is great. Its not a resort hotel but nice and clean. We would definitely stay here again. Breakfast eating area could be bigger; we had to take our food back to our rooms to eat. Never a place to sit.

    4
« Great value for money »

This hotel was very reasonably priced considering how close it is to St Augustine's historic and shopping areas and other great attractions. Only a few minutes walk sees you at Castillo de San Marcos and the old city gates ? it really is well located. As mentioned in other reviews, the pool area it is not the most welcoming, but the rest of the amenities were fine - complimentary breakfast, free wifi, newspapers and juice and coffee available all day in the lobby. Our room was comfortable ? it is an older styled hotel so the bathroom was not large, the vanity / sink was not in the bathroom but rather in the bedroom ? which suited us just fine. The breakfast area is very small but you are able to take your breakfast back to your room. Parking was $5.00 per day but compared to alternatives this is very reasonably. Once we arrived our car stayed put for the rest of our stay. The trolleys stop is just up the road but key tourist places in the area are all very walkable. We walked back to the hotel at night and didn't feel unsafe. We would stay here again.

    3
« Mediocre for Best Western »

Let's start with the good. The staff were VERY caring and efficient, and friendly. The location was spot on, for walking to everything. Now the bad...THE POOL. To say it needs a rehab, is an understatement. It was downright frightening. Looked like a neglected Motel 6 pool, from 1981.The whole place needs a little remodel, but that pool was horrific. I felt the rooms were adequate, and very clean. I wasn't upset that the rooms were smaller, as is typical of rooms in an older and historical building. I hope I can revisit again, AFTER a needed remodel!

    3
    « Cramped »

My family of four recently stayed here and we felt extremely cramped. Room was old and could have been cleaner. Breakfast was ok but, again, the area was extremely cramped. We had to eat back at our room because there was no room to sit. Staff was very nice. Pool was small and very little space to sit around and enjoy.

    4
    « Nice location »

The location is central. Close to the trolleys for the ghost tours. Across from the main area The parking is a bit scarce and the bathroom is tiny. I prefer more bathroom space and a little less vanity outside the bathroom. Not bad for the price though.

    « Good »

This hotel is located just a block away from the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument as well as St. George Street. There is only one crosswalk between the hotel and City Gates. This makes the hotel a convenient and cost-effective lodging option for visiting the country's oldest city. The hotel is nice - not an elegant Hilton but it is well suited for families. We found the rooms to be comfortable and clean. The breakfast (included in the rate) was good enough to eat and enough available to really fill up on. The pool and spa was both clean and secure. The rooms that we were provided (220 and 222) had a direct view of the pool to allow for us to keep an eye on the kids. I really liked how the staff there had an "ownership" mentality towards the service that they provided. Seriously, one would get service that is only half as good for double the price if they were to stay at some of the other hotels in the immediate area.

    5
    « Awesome location ! »

Excellent location, everything within walking distance to historic district. Very convenient. Free bottled water in room. Room was clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Stayed over Memorial day and it was great. Will stay again soon. It was nice to park car and not drive for 2 days. Felt safe there even when walking back late at night.

    5
    « Central hotel »

In the little town st. Augustine your perfect hotel to visit. Use the trolley just a few minutes away and discover. Room.and üarking was very good and cleaned. Breakfast was good but just four tables to sit for all and a small room for choosong articles

    5
    « Perfect Location »

The hotel is near everything and across the street from Ripley's Believe it or not. The hotel is comfortable, clean; the price is reasonable, and again the location is priceless. I will stay there again. Cons: There are only four tables to eat breakfast (we took ours to the room) plus there is a fee of $5.00 per day for parking.

    3
« Good for the price and area »

Location is good - located across the street from Ripley's Believe it or Not and an easy walk to St George Street and historic district. The room itself is the minimum of what you would expect, and breakfast was ok. Nothing fancy, but we got a good price so can't complain.

    5
    « wonderful time »

great staff ,they go out of there way for you. great location great breakfast .. free bottle water for the hot summer day as we played tourist. through the town plus the trolly tours were right across the street from the motel. which was so nice.

    4
    « Excellent location »

We had 2 adults and 2 kids in the room (2 queen beds). Very small bathroom but we managed. It was cramped but you just can't beat a great location like this. Room was clean, beds were comfy. Rooms had mini fridge and microwave. Hotel is within walking distance of everything! Free continental breakfast, parking, newspaper, and wifi. Juice & coffee are offered in lobby all day.

    4
« Nice and clean/close to historic downtown »

This hotel is nice and clean. It's just a walk across the street if you take either of trolley tours. The trolley tours end at 4:30 so if you are shopping or at most of the museums it's within walking distance. This hotel had good breakfast. It said continental breakfast but they had egg and cheese omelets, bacon, pancakes, etc. the next day they had a fried type egg in stead of the omelette it was ok. The breakfast guys was funny and nice and always kept the food coming. The only issue with this hotel that I had was that your room key never worked on the first time. You had to put the key in the door at least 13 times before it would turn green and open. Other guest had the same problem.

    3
    « Bathrooms are a drag »

This is an older but renovated Best Western. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. Coffee needs some work. The bathrooms were extremely small. You could barely sit on the toilet or get the door opened. I wouldn't stay here again just because of the toilet.

    4
« Great location and service! »

We visited from Orlando with friends, celebrating a birthday! The location is absolutely perfect, we did not drive the entire stay. Everything is within walking distance which is totally cool! Check-in was quick, easy, and friendly! It is an older Inn, however the room was very clean and up to date with all amenities as expected. Great bed and pillows! The water pressure was too light for my liking and I did encounter a few tiny ants crawling on the countertops and bathroom. But not a huge deal. We loved that we had Direct TV and a nice size flat screen. We will definitely book again!

  • 5
« Comfy Bed; screaming toilet »

The room was lovely, it didn't have a kitchenette or anything but I don't know what I expected to be honest. I loved how close it was to everything cool; walking distance from the shopping area, the fort and the ghost tour that we reserved. My literal only gripe was that the toilet would start screaming randomly.

    4
« Best Value and Location »

Highly recommended. You can't get a better deal for this price. The location is near everything, but situated in a quiet area. The bedding is comfortable. The pillows are a little gig high, so I luckily brought mine, since si had never been here and would not take risks with my neck. Considering it's an old hotel it's good, it's clean, the water pressure in the bath is great, though the water is too soft for me. Our room with two beds was spacious enough. I would have liked an extra chair in the room, there was enough space for a second chair. The internet is excellent.

    5
« Excellent stay at this motel in St. Augustine, FL »

From walking in the front door to check in, and during our 2 night stay, all the staff were exceptional. Tori, Sheri and Jeff were outstanding. All common areas and rooms were spotless!! Breakfast area is rather small but wasn't an issue for anybody. Coffee and juice in lobby at anytime is a nice touch. Will be back, even if it's an almost 5 hour drive.

    4
« Heart of the city »

I stay here because of the closeness of all the attractions. Each way gives me a balance and sense of where I am.. The helpfulness and thoughtfulness is always appreciated. Thank you for the good service and excellent communicational skills

First trip with my husband to St. Augustine and our 3rd wedding anniversary. Out stay was actually relaxing which I wasn't expecting, the staff at our BW were super friendly and met all our needs. Loved the town and our stay, each day was met rested, fed and refreshed. Can't wait to come back.

Great Location, service was premier, breakfast was great, we will definitely return and would recommend this hotel to all, Sheri Assistant manager was great. centrally located within walking distance to everything you need. Great rooms, very clean.

    « Nicely updated rooms »

Clean, very comfortable beds, stylish updated interior. Quiet at night. Only downside is space - on the cramped side with room size and parking at certain hours. Price could be lower but, overall we would stay again.

    « Very good. Happy »

We were very happy with the location of our stay...the rooms were Very clean and comfortable. We were within walking distance to The places we wanted to visit, The staff was very pleasent and informative. Would stay there again...

    « Location, location, location »

This is a budget hotel, no hiding that. But it has a fantastic location. You're a 5-8min walk from St. George Street. There are 2 Old Town Trolley stops right across the street (depending which direction you want to go). You're right across the street from the Visitor's Welcome Center if you need info on what to do. The room was small and basic, but it had two comfortable queen beds, a dresser with flat screen on top, and a table with two chairs. The sink/vanity area of the bathroom is open to the room, the toilet and tub behind a door (in a very tight space). The room was clean but had seen better days.

« Location is great, staff also, otherwise ho-hum. »

We were stuffed into a tiny space. We couldn't turn around in the bathroom. We stayed one night (Friday). When we asked about staying a second night, the price quoted nearly gave me a heart attack, and it was supposedly a deep discount! I guess weekends in St. Augustine in the summer are pricey. The location, however, is great. Within walking distance of many of the attractions such as the fort, the Pirate Museum, and the port. The staff, particularly Shari and Sean were very cheery and helpful. Overall, okay, but not great.

    3
    « Decent »

Great location, convenient parking, free breakfast (although very questionable), hot shower, small bathrooms, stiffy beds, worth the rate I suppose. I'd probably stay here again if I ever visited st Augustine in the future but only because of the location and rate.

    5
« St augustine best western gem »

Very clean, good value, excellent staff. Good breakfast also. Very close- within walking distance to many attractions and right on the trolley route. We will stay here again on our next visit to St Augustine!!!

    4
    « Historic City visit »

Celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in St. Augustine, as we have on many previous anniversaries. Enjoyed the city with Mass at the Cathedral Basilica and dinner at La Pentola.. Being Memorial Day weekend, the place was inundated with people. Was not ideal for a relaxing time, but memorable just the same.

    5
« RIGHT IN THE CENTER OF IT ALL »

This place is right center of everything. All you need is park and you can do short walk to St George St or cross the street to Ripleys or even take the trolley. The rooms are small, the bathroom is small but is nicely kept. The room was kept clean and the hot breakfast included is perfect. Highly recommended and would stay again.

    4
    « Great Location »

My wife and stayed here for a long weekend and really enjoyed the close proximity to the fort and old town. Friendly staff and clean rooms with refrigerator and comfortable bed. Parking lot is small and the spacing between pick-up trucks is tight. Pool is nice, breakfast is standard hotel fare with excellent fresh fruit and cereal options. We'll be back!

    5
    « Very comfortable stay. »

Motel style hotel just on the edge of the old town. Ideally placed for visiting. Just a few minutes walk. Great stay, rooms updated, staff really friendly and a pretty good breakfast. Would recommend to anyone and when in the area again will certainly consider staying here again. One note though if you have trouble with stairs ask for a room on the first (ground) floor - no lifts.

    4
« Good hotel, good central location »

I stayed here recently for 1 night. The room was a good size, the bathroom was a bit small but OK. The hotel is in a good central location, only a short walk from the historic centre. Free hot breakfast is included but the breakfast room is small so you may need to eat your breakfast in your room. Staff are helpful (although I'm still waiting for a refund after being charged twice for the room).

    4
    « Perfect Family Stay »

Rooms are clean and updated though small. Casual and cozy hotel perfect for families - appreciated large clothes rack in bathroom; microwave and refrigerator a bonus. Breakfast included with fresh fruit. Nice pool for hot afternoons. Close to attractions and shops.

    4
    « Worth the price »

Hotel was clean and up to date and breakfast was great. Parking was a bit difficult because the parking lot is very small. The price was ok a little pricey in my opinion but when I searched other hotels all were at the same price or more. Other wise the location was great close to downtown. Would stay again.

« Clean, Comfortable, Nicely Done »

Remodeled room with 1 king bed. Very clean and modernized. The alarm clock has 2 HDMI port plus 2 standard electrical plug ins on top, plus extra HDMI ports and outlets just above the night stand. No searching required. The bed is comfy, the towels are soft and fresh. Breakfast was provided and was fresh, hot and a great start to our day. Next time we are in town this will my go to hotel.

    5
« Great staff and a only few blocks from downtown »

I was there with my friends on Saturday, May 27. The front desk staff was awesome. The room was very clean and very well-kept. I would definitely stay there again! I highly recommend this hotel... The breakfast in the morning was OK and was actually pretty tasty

    3
    « Centrally located »

This is an older hotel centrally located to many attractions, restaurants and shopping districts of St. Augustine. The bathroom is extremely tiny but the shower was wonderful. The main room had barely enough room to turn around in but the beds are extremely comfortable. The breakfast was ok, with fresh fruit, pastries, yoghurt, and some hot items we didn't try. There was a tiny breakfast room but did provide trays if you wanted to go back to your room. The coffee could have been better. The front desk people were wonderful, talked about the sites to see and arranged for the tram to pick you up. Loved the tram, great way to see the city and learn a little history along the way, every driver had a little different twist on their story. Parking was tight but adequate, extra 5$ per day for the privilege.

    « Good nights sleep! »

We hadn't planned to spend the night but found this gem across from the visitor center. The staff were so pleasant and accommodating. Walking distance to St. George Street and down to the waterfront where we took in the sights and saw the Bridge of Lions just a short walk away!

    5
« Great place to stay and excellent staff. All were very friendly and smiling. »

We hadn't planned to overnight in St. Augustine but changed our minds and were directed to this hotel at a restaurant. We walked in without a reservation and were immediately treated like royalty. It was a wonderful experience!

« Affordable Hotel With Good Location »

The Best Western Spanish Quarters is located within walking distance to the fort and the main drag of the historic district. It's also close to the St. Augustine Visitors Center and a couple of the stops for the Old Town Trolley. So it is conveniently located for touring the city. This is an older hotel with smaller rooms that are clean and comfortable. One quirk is that the window curtains don't close completely leaving a gap along the side nearest the door. Normally this should not be an issue except, there is a large mirror on the side wall oriented in such a way that people outside can look into your room at an angle and see the reflected image of the bed and anyone on the bed. So my advice is to pull the opaque drape and hook it on the safety lock to close off that gap. You will get the picture when you see the arrangement. The management provides a fairly nice breakfast selection. Eating space is very small but they do provide trays (unusual in most hotels) so that you can take your breakfast back to your room. Speaking of small, the pool deck is very narrow and lounges are limited to how they can be angled to take advantage of the sun. The pool and hot tub are clean and refreshing. OK, and speaking of small again, the parking lot on the East side of the building is tight? really tight. I might venture that a large car might not be able to maneuver in there without some serious jockeying around. I suggest you park on the West side of the main building to insure you can get in and out. Also, a pet peeve of mine is that they charge a nominal fee for parking. All the hotel people we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Don't forget to ask about a discount coupon for Barnacle Bills and the Old Town Trolley.

    3
« Comfortable place to stay »

Older hotel, great staff, comfortable, but overpriced due to the location which was wonderful. We only stayed one night on our way to Daytona Beach. They were very accommodating in letting us park until 4 pm the next day. I would have expected to pay about $125/night - which would've been much more reasonable for the accommodations. An adequate breakfast was available.

    4
« Great hotel located near historic town. »

If you want a affordable hotel located near downtown this is it they offer a good free breakfast and there is a trolley stop across the street. Only downfall is tight parking places. The beds were very comfortable.

    4
« Pricey but worth the Location »

Had two rooms side by side for Sons Family, second floor back side. Eventually turned quite at night. This Hotel is right close to Everything! Great location to walk everywhere, Fort, Fowler College all Restaurants and shops. Don't forget Trolley and Fort close early, shops open till 10 pm. Great to walk to shops for late night snacks , coffee, chocolates or Pizza! Rooms clean. A little pricey, but free parking & Wi Fi. Breakfast was OK, not a Cracker Barrel , but sufficient, good selection of Breakfast items. Service desk always helpful!

    « Unbelievable customer service! »

I was looking for a hotel/motel close to downtown St Augustine and within walking distance. I found that with the Best Western Spanish Quarters Inn. The room was clean and tidy and complimentary breakfast presented opportunities to get to know other 'out of towners'. What I wasn't expecting was the level of customer service exemplified by the front desk agent, Sheri. She was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and went out of her way to make sure I knew how to get from point A to point B with ease. Her easy going manner and attention to the details of my stay made me feel comfortable and glad I'd made my decision to stay there. She is wonderful!!! While I was out touring the town, she called on my cell to inquire about my 2nd overnight stay because of a conversation we'd had earlier in the morning so ... just to be sure she was correct, she went out of her way to call me. If you are planning a visit to St Augustine, this is the place to stay!

    « Great location !!!!! »

The location & price is the best you will find! Just cross the street & walk through the visitor info center (pedestrian ) & you are in the old town/pedestrian areas)! Yes it is $5 per day to park but you don't even need the car unless you drive to publix, Walgreens or cvs. The room is very clean, has an iron & board, coffee maker with supplies, frig with small freezer, microwave, full length mirror, table &2 chairs. Each room is old motel style which means the sink area is in the bedroom but also has" individual AC"! I am very happy with my decision to book here! You would pay twice the $ to save a 2-4 block walk to stay in a b&b with less amenities. Plus the lady at the front desk (from NJ-June,I think) has been super helpful, even letting us print something off of her computer behind her desk!

    « 2017-42 No Very Satisfied »

Conveniently located within walking distance to the heart of St Augustine's historic district. Just a block away from the Castillo de San Marcos, plus other interesting attractions as well as many good eateries. However, I was quite disappointed, upon arrival (I had made reservations more than a week prior to our arrival and specifically requested a first floor room, due to our ages and having a small support dog), we were told, there were only upstairs rooms (no elevators) available, we were told that perhaps within two or three hours, one would become available. I asked if we could leave the car while we walk around time to kill time and to please text me once the room became available. We returned after three hours and still there wasn't any available first floor rooms, finally, close to another half hour of waiting we were assigned room #119, which turnout to be a nightmare, since is located, next to an ice-machine maker, which kept us up all night. Next morning, I spoke with the staff that I wasn't happy and would like to be switched to another room, I was told that I will be call as soon as one became available and again we went to enjoy the city. About 3:00pm, I received a call informing me that there was a room on second floor only, at the time I was fuming, but my wife said, "take it", so we did. We found the Spa wasn't working, the breakfast room too small for a motel of this side, the tub did not drain properly. Next time I visit St Augustine, definitely will choose another location.

    « Very good stay! »

Let's me start by saying that this is a 2 or 2 1/2 start hotel. It's nothing fancy and there are many more luxurious and elegant hotels in St. Augustine. However, having said that... The hotel's location is perfect. Located 3 minutes walking distance from St. George street, and 1 minute walking distance from San Marcos Castle, one doesn't have to worry about transportation to get to attractions, restaurants and shopping. The rooms are small but very clean. The staff was friendly. Different from other hotels and B&Bs in downtown St. Augustine, the hotel has a parking area on property, which is very convenient. Breakfast was included. Yes, it was limited but still quite good and the fact that it's free doesn't hurt either. Overall, the hotel is perfect for a short stay.

Went back to Saint Augustine to get my son from college for the summer, another great stay at this hotel. Have stayed there on several other occasions and continue to keep going back because of the service, cleanliness and the quality of stay

« Good location but disappointing service »

I should start by saying the location of this hotel related to the centre of St Augustine was perfect but the service was a huge let down. We booked rooms at this hotel over a year ago. During that time the price had almost trebled due to a food festival on the day. We were traveling from the UK and did not arrive until he evening. When we arrived we were told that our reservation had been cancelled and rooms resold. The reason is that our card had been declined and they could no contact us. We are reasonable and understand that this can happen. Our issue was that we were not called. Instead an email was sent, in fact two were sent. One saying our card had been declined and that we had 24 hours to update our details and pay the deposit. Immediately after this we received another saying the room had been cancelled. It was obvious that one should have been sent the day before our visit. If this had happened we would have quickly resolved the issue. No allowance was made of for this. If I am being honest our belief is that this was done intentionally to resell the room at a higher price. Be wary if you are prebooking.

« All About the Location »

Good check-in/out and staff is friendly. Room comfort is average. Clothing hangs in bathroom. We did not have an in-room safe. Bed was firm but comfortable. Typical small BW pillows. Bring your own if spending more than a couple nights. A/C was loud and you can hear noisy neighbors. Parking is not that great so try to get a room on pool side where the lot is bigger and more maneuverable. Pool is heated, but not real warm. Breakfast is okay, but seating is very minimal. We ate in our room both mornings. There is a good seafood restaurant next door. This place is all about the location. Within a few blocks of most major tourist attractions and a few trolley stops. There is a trolley stop across the street at parking lot too.

    « Great stay »

Hotel is right by the main gates. Excellent access to the mall. Staff was excellent. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Downtown parking is a premium, and the location allows you to walk everywhere and leave the car without worry. Hotel makes the stay easy and enjoyable. The staff is exceptional and goes beyond what is expected to make your stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my 13 year old. We love St. Augustine. First time staying at this hotel. Walk to everything!! Check in/out was quick. Room could use a little cleaning but overall not too bad. Staff was friendly bank knowledgeable about the area..Good coffee and breakfast. The pool was temporarily out of service ( disappointing) It would have been nice to get in after a long day of sightseeing and shopping. The only thing I didn't like was the parking. If you have a large vehicle...good luck. My Corvette backed in and out fine but I did see someone trying to get out and I guess he gave up... There is parking in lot behind but unless your on the second floor, you can't see your vehicle. Overall we had a nice stay.

« Solo Sightseeing in St. Augustine »

Chose this hotel due to its ratings and location. I am a senior female, partially handicapped as I need both knees replaced. It is right across the street from the city public garage and St.A. Tourist Info Center and the OLD TOWN TROLLY HOP ON HOP OFF stop. From the time I arrived at 8 AM in the morning they could not have been more helpful. The lady at the front desk was very informative. She checked me in and then discussed tour options with me. I bought the trolley tour for $25. The ticket was good for 3 days and they offer shuttle service to and from your hotel. She arranged for the shuttle to pick me up in 10 minutes. I parked my car at the hotel and got what I needed for the day and went back to the lobby. The shuttle came and picked me up and took me to The Old Jail, where the trolley station is. Took shuttle from Old Jail back to the hotel at night, the room was clean and quiet. Bed comfortable. I was on the first floor close to the lobby. I got up early and had a very ample breakfast-eggs, sausage, pancakes, yogurt, cereals, danishes, muffins, oatmeal, coffee, tea, juice. It was hot, good and filling. The dining area was kept clean and food replenished. I really enjoyed my stay here. Staff were polite and helpful. Will definitely stay here again on my next visit.

« Pleasant stay in the heart of the historic district »

This facility is older and in need of cosmetic upgrades. That said, my room (115) was clean and comfortable. In room devices (AC, TV, micro, fridge and coffee maker) were in good repair and worked properly. On the negative side the bathroom vent fan sounded like a Diesel engine, the dry wall in the bathroom was split open behind the toilet tank and the carpet was a little worn. Breakfast room is very small (4 tables) but the food selection was good. The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. Location is excellent. Be advised their is a $5.00 Dailey fee to park your car, something I find odd for a motel where most guests arrive by car.

    « Rundown »

Stayed at this hotel for an overnight on April 6th. Best thing I can say about the place is great location. Room was very small, dated and only passably clean. Bed was comfortable. We couldn't open the mini fridge door fully because it banged into the foot of the bed. Rooms smell very musty and are dated. Bathroom is minuscule, barely enough room to turn around in. Don't stay in a ground floor unit unless you want to put up with smokers outside your door. Breakfast room looks like it is a converted hotel room, very tiny with only 4 tables. Don't expect a good breakfast here either. We will not stay here again nor recommend it to anyone.

« Walking distance to historic district »

My family and I really like the best western Spanish quarter inn. Staff is friendly and they offer a great breakfast. Rooms are clean and it's very close to St. George Street . I love that we can walk to everything. The only negative is that the beds could be more comfortable .

    4
    « Great location »

We stayed for 3 days and the hotel was great! the location is perfect!! they have everything located across the street from them. There is a shuttle that you pay for that picks you up right from the lobby. The staff was very nice and informative. The breakfast was good the only thing is the area where you eat is tiny, best bet is to take it to your room. The room was nice and clean. The beds and pillows were good. The room was a little tight, but overall good.

    4
« Great location and friendly staff »

The location of this hotel was perfect for walking to St. George Street shops and restaurants, Ripley's Believe It or Not, the Fort. and the trolley stops. The front desk staff even arranged for transportation to pick us up at the hotel and take us to stop #1 of the Trolley loop (no cost).

    4
    « Great location »

Great location and friendly staff. We parked our car and were able to walk everywhere or use the tour/shuttle bus. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is too small but we were able to take the meal to our room and enjoy it there. Coffee and juice seemed to be available all day.

    3
« Nothing more than simple! »

Hotel offers comfortable yet simplified structure. We had a hurricane, but the hotel resisted well. Bathroom quite tight. Good breakfast, good bed. Paid parking ($ 10 per day). For what it likes, tv with many channels at disposal. The better is the location!

    5
« Clean and comfortable, great staff. »

This hotel is in the heart of downtown St. Augustine, and stands out tall above the competition. The room was very clean, fresh, and up to date. The staff was very friendly, especially Sheri. The complementary breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay here again.

    5
    « Great Location »

This hotel is within an easy 5 minute walk to the main areas of St Augustine. The room we had was on the ground floor and was clean and comfortable with plenty of space. ( double, non smoking ). Breakfast was available with plenty of options hot and cold. Can be a bit busy so better to go early rather than late, not many tables, however trays available if you want to take your breakfast to your room. Parking available at $5 per day ( wont need to use your car ) previous guests have stated that the spaces were tight - certainly not as tight as some parking areas in the uk lol. Reception staff efficient and friendly - booked trolley tour with the. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be close to everything.

    « I was pleased. »

I was pleased with this hotel, but it needs a little more TLC on the out side to make it more appealing. Room was clean for the most part and comfortable, but the out side could be more appealing. The first thing I saw was the laundry room and cleaning cart when we pulled in the parking lot and it had a lot to be desired.

« Comfortable and conveniently located »

Very close to local shops, the historic district and many restaurants and bars. Clean and cozy, helpful staff and decent breakfast. Only issues were the TV didn't work, but I found out it was connected wrong, (simple housekeeping mistake), carpet was ripping up and they were still working on it when I walked into the room after check in, a few hairs on the bath towels, but besides that it was a great, quick stay. I actually work as a guest experience manager at another hotel brand but this location was best for our travel plans. I always inspect rooms I stay in and the room passed my inspection! So safe to say I would stay again if I were to visit St Augustine in the future.

« Inexpensive accommodation close to historic district in St Augustine »

Arrived in St Augustine looking for a place to stay within walking distance of the old town. Looked at several B & Bs but they were very expensive. Went to the Best Western and were pleasantly surprised by their cheaper rates. The hotel is close to everything, pretty basic but clean with good wifi and a hot breakfast. Would recommend to anyone visiting St Augustine on a budget.

    5
    « Great locatoon »

Best Western Spanish Quarter is an outstanding value! Perfect location and extremely reasonably priced. It offers a nice breakfast, comfortable beds, and extremely friendly employees. We would suggest BW Spanish Quarter to everyone.

« Best overall value in old town St Augustine »

I booked this in advanced and received a good rate. It's an old place with some old finishes and a small bathroom, but it has parking, an acceptable breakfast, and most importantly, is an easy walk to the castillo and the old town. An average walker can probably be anywhere in 10 minutes. It's not a resort, but there is a pool, and it is easy to access. Staff were very pleasant and kind. I'd definitely stay again.

    4
    « Weekend »

Rooms average, pool/ hot tub not working. Was hoping to use hot tub. Bathroom fan not working. Super convenient location though... was a toss off. Not sure I'd stay here again, but maybe another best western

    « fully satisfied customer »

Very close to downtown attractions (easy walking distance) and old town trolley stop. Clean, free internet and parking and a good hot breakfast. My wife and I have stayed at fancier hotels but for the price and location it was a good deal. We would recommend it to our friends and family.

    4
« Very good location and price »

This Best Western is somewhat outdated but clean and comfortable. Location is great being at the limit of the historic district. Shops , sites and restaurants are a close walking distance. Secluded parking is great. Wifi works fine. It is a smal hotel with two floors.

« Best Location for St. Augustine »

This hotel has the best location for historical St. Augustine. Close to shops, sightseeing trams, and central location to many historical sites. Not only is the location great, the hotel and staff are great. The rooms are clean and the hot tub and pool are very relaxing. Stay here and say "Hi" to Sherri.

« Great stay at a great price »

We wanted an inexpensive but not cheap couple of days in St. Augustine. Best Western was perfect. Everything we wanted was within walking distance. The t.v. and available channels were great and the staff was pleasant and helpful. Thanks for such a nice mini-vacay (even while hurricane preparation was going on!)

« NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL »

Customer service not good, noisy, rudeness from housekeeping. Never told there was construction going on, even on a Sunday, in rooms next to ours. Housekeeping just walked in the room without knocking and seemed put our that we asked her to leave. No child supervision at breakfast, couldn't get to some of the food and children running up and down hall. Every time someone closed a door on our floor the walls shook.

    3
    « Good Location »

Hotel is located in a very nice area. Visitors center across the street. Room was a little small and tight to walk around in. No elevator, so had to walk upstairs to get to carry luggage up and down iike that since it was raining. Breakfast was okay.

« Closest to The Fun »

This is a great place to stay for St. Augustine fun. Walking to St. George St. takes only a few minutes. The staff are very helpful and aim to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The breakfast is quick and easy to grab.

« Great staff, hotel not so much »

Very nice staff, who went out of their way to accomodate us. Very friendly every time we ran onto an employee. But the room was small for the price, regardless of the location. The table was squeezed into a corner, and covered the a/c vent. The carpet wa worn, and the whole room needed updating. The mattresses were terrible. Very uncomfortable, really need to be replaced. These days, most updated hotels have comfortable beds and bedding, not so much here. The breakfast room is an unvented, claustrophobic little room with 4 tables crammed in. The breakfast food was good but it was so cramped and stuffy in the room, it was unpleasant. And finally, the staff themselves constantly stiod o the balcony above the laundry/employee area and smoked. Every time we had to go down the stairs, we had to make our way through smoke.

    4
« Good hotel in a great location »

Friendly and accommodating staff with very nice, clean, comfortable room that includes a delicious hot breakfast. Location is convenient and within walking distance to everything. The pool needs repair, but was clean.

« Friendly staff, but rooms are unclean »

The gentleman that checked me in for my four day staff was less than excited to be there. The first room I had I had to chase a roach around and when I called the gentleman at the desk he said he did not have any spray and could not leave the desk. I finally got it at 12:30a.m. The next morning I chased a lizard around. The tub had hair in it and there was garbage behind the dresser ( I only got to see that because of the roach) The next room I moved to had hair in the tub, remnants in toilet, the toilet barely flushed, and the tub did not drain. The staff (except for the gentleman) was very friendly and helpful. I was compt. one night, but I would never stay here again.

« Awesome location and front desk staff »

My wife and I stayed at the best western for the labor day weekend. We were already in our vacation mode and it sky rocketed when we met Terry at the front desk. She handled our reservation with the biggest smile in the world...i mean it felt like she loves helping their guests. we were inquiring about buying trolley tickets, she took care of that for us, she gave us a coupon book of all the restaurants and sigh seeing places in the historic area of St. Augustine. She even far enough to order us a trolley service to pick us up in front of the hotel instead of us walking across the street to wait for it. If you want something good and you're on a budget...look no further and see terry!!

« Great Value in Historic District »

Great Bang for your buck. The location is fabulous. Walking distance to everything in the historic district. If you don't want to walk the trolley pickup's across the street. The staff was friendly, efficient & put in the extra effort in all they did. Hotel was very clean & well maintained. Nice amenities in the room including a microwave & refrigerator. Extremely comfortable bed with lots of pillows. Hot breakfast. The pastries & fruit were individually wrapped. For the money I don't think it can be beat.

    3
    « Great location »

The room was ok sized, but the bathroom was tiny. The toilet clogged, and was sluggish the rest of the time. The air conditioner was not working- the room was muggy the entire stay (2 nights). Breakfast was great- there were a variety of options. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

« Best Location in St. Augustine »

Loved our stay in St. Augustine. This hotel is in a great location; close enough to walk to some of the best attractions and the Old Town Trolley tour, which is the best way to get around the city with stops at all attractions, stops right across the street! Nice free breakfast included! which saves time and money and gets you out enjoying the city earlier! Parking is a little tight, very close together with a concrete wall enclosing the lot making it very hard to park, even with a small car, but that's the only thing I could find to complain about. Room was very clean and modern, front desk very friendly and willing to help find your way around.

« My stay at the Best Western Spanish Quarters Inn »

My stay at the Spanish Quarters Inn in St Augustine Florida was a very nice stay the location was perfect, the location was near every thing and with in walking distance. It is near the fort, Ripples Believe it or not, a lot of places to eat at, Also quite a few shops to wander through. It is a fun place to go to.

    5
« Perfect location in Old Towne »

We have stayed at this property a number of times and will again. The rooms are small but remarkably quiet given the location, and the trolley stop near by. Rooms and linens are clean. Parking could be a challenge but the lot attended guides you into your space...no door dings so fare. Park it and leave it, (parking extra). No need to drive, you can walk to whatever restaurant or shop you wish. Also very convenient to the old fort. We do not use the pool or take the continental breakfast so I can not comment on these. We want a clean comfortable room, in a good location and this hotel does the job for us. We enjoy At. Augustine each February and meeting up with our friends from Fernandina Beach. It's a nice ritual and this hotel suits us all well.

« St Augustine Fl Best western »

I have been going to this hotel for 30 years. Its a nice little hotel in the oldest town in the nation. Girls know us real well and treat us right. Clean, neat and pleasant. We keep going back to this hotel every year because we don't have to worry about any problems. They go above and beyond when ever possible. Don't hesitate to plan a trip here as it is in the heart of this old town. Just within walking distance of nearly everything.

    4
    « Great location. »

The hotel itself is a little dated. Rooms on the small side, and bathroom fixtures could use an update. While the bed itself was comfortable, the sheets were pilled and somewhat rough. Other than that -- the room was clean and had microwave and refrigerator and wireless access. Staff very friendly and efficient. The continental breakfast was very good; the small breakfast area provided trays for taking items back to room. The location was perfect within walking distance of many sites and attractions. Visitors bureau next door; trolley across the street.

« Actually not so bad »

We came down to St Augustine and wanted to be close to the historic area, but at a reasonable cost. We decided on the Best Western Spanish Quarter. We were able yo park our car and visit the downtown area with no problem. Our room on the second deck was nice. Beds were comfortable and AC worked good. The bathroom and sink were updated, but as others have pointed out, the tub and toilet in a separate room and was very difficult to stand in the small area in front of the toilet to open and close the door. Staff was friendly and almost everyone said good morning to us. They provide bottled water each day which was a nice touch. The breakfast was ok but only 4 tables in small breakfast room. They provide trays to take food to the room. They charge $5 to park daily. Why they need to do that seems unnecessary. Similar to charging $5 daily to use the pool Anyway not bad and we would stay here again.

« Great location for downtown but »

I felt like I was in a Motel 6 in the 1960's. The place was very worn down. The breakfast was terrible- packaged muffins etc. & no room to sit. The ONLY thing going for this is its location- but I'd choose to stay elsewhere if I go back. Unfortunately, it seems to me that this town is pretty honky-tonk. Many of the accommodations in downtown were old & worn.

    5
« Awesome Location - Updated Hotel - Great Service »

You can park your car and never touch it again. You can walk to everywhere in St. Augustine. The room is updated and the beds comfy. The breakfast had a good variety with eggs and bacon for choices and the water and coffee served all day was a nice touch. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

The Best western Spanish Quarter a perfect spot to be able to enjoy St Augustine. You'll be able to walk to most attractions, or take local transportation companies. We had fun experiencing all St Augustine had to offer.

    2
    « Great location BUT>>>>> »

This was a great location for downtown St. Augustine activities. The trolley stops across the street & is convenient- but I felt like I went to a Motel 6- & I haven't been to one of them in 30 yrs. Loud A/C, smelly mold smell, & outside noise.

    3
    « Convenience »

Clearly this is an old hotel, but I have to say it is in pretty good condition. Did not have the "old room" odors or even the moldy corners in the bath and shower. Stayed two nights because it is so very convenient to downtown shops, restaurants and attractions, all in walking distance. Only annoyance was traffic noise, probably a 5 on a ten scale. Get a room to the back of the building would be better, though that's where the pool is. Staff is reasonably friendly, courteous and helpful with discount coupons to restaurants. Would stay here again.

    4
    « Excellent location! »

It was an older hotel, but it was clean. It was a bit crowded in the rooms, but the kindness of the staff, along with a pretty good breakfast and complimentary water made up for it. The location was PERFECT! We did not pay for the train or trolley because everything was walkable from this hotel.

    4
« Close to Historic District »

We felt that the rate was fair, the proximity to the historic district was excellent, the room were clean and comfortable, the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Beds were very comfortable. It was quiet at night. The rooms are a little small but we were only there to sleep and shower so it wasn't a problem at all.

    4
    « Great staff & location »

Hotel was within walking distance to restaurants, shops, etc. but so close that it was a noisy area. Felt very safe. Front desk people were all nice & helpful. Went with daughters for a "girls" long weekend and had a wonderful time.

    3
« Great shower and rest »

The shower pressure and temp. was great. The bed was what you should come to expect from a Best Western. When I called on my way to the hotel to inquire about my reservations, the young male was rude; however, the female night clerk was pleasant upon my arrival.

    3
    « Pleasure Visit »

Although close to where you want to be and within walking distance of historical area and waterfront, this hotel has not been upgraded. Rooms are small and cramped. Guests are also charged for parking, something I didn't understand. That said, it was clean, quiet and offered both a comfortable bed and continental breakfast.

    4
    « Nice stay »

We stayed for 4 days and really enjoyed our stay only problem was the bathroom was a little to small for my liking.. The pool and jacuzzi were lovely after walking and touring around all day.. Loved that it was in walking distance to st. George street and the Castillo de San Marcos and the trolley..

    4
« Yes a little small, but clean with friendly staff »

The rooms are a little small but comparable in size to most motels I've stayed in. We didn't spend much time in the room anyways since we were so busy exploring the town! The staff was pretty darn friendly. The pool was great on a hot day. The breakfast is ok. The motel is very close to old town and within walking distance. I would say the only drawback is the parking lot is a little cramped, but not enough to keep me from coming back.

    « Good location/wonderful staff »

We went for the fourth of July weekend. Very busy weekend to be in St Augustine. The hotel is in a very good spot. There are trolley stops adjacent to the hotel which is ideal. The hotel rooms are small but how much time are you spending in your rooms. The beds were comfortable. The room clean. Replacing the carpets would be a help. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. I would stay again.

Manager Sheri was able to book us a room at a great rate last minute. Hotel staff was super friendly and went out of the way to accommodate us. Safe location and in walking distance to old town. Rooms clean and comfortable beds. Breakfast in a.m. with a ton of choices.

    « Small Quarters »

I went with my parents and we had a great time staying so close to the city attractions. The downside was the room. It was very small so we would have to squeeze around each other. Also, the pool and 'not so hot tub' were small as well.

« Lacks charm but convenient value »

Just stayed here for 2 nights attending concert at the amphitheatre. Wanted a place walking distance to bars and restaurants and did not want a B&B. This hotel was just that and also had a somewhat decent breakfast each morning in the lobby. The good is the room cleanliness and great water pressure. The bad would be the cramped pool area. Paid $170 per night and felt value when you throw in the morning food and location. Found another Best Western about 1/2 mile south of this one that is opposite the harbor and closer to all the action so I would likely choose that one over this one in the future if the money was the same.

« Bad for the Money. »

Very cramped, Not much of a pool. I felt as if everything was squeezed into a very small space. Rooms were noisy and you could hear people talking in the room next to you. I felt like you couldn't really relax.

    « Great Location »

PROS: GREAT LOCATION across from trolley stop and just a short walk to several attractions and shops and restaurants. You could actually park your car here and not need to use it until you were leaving. The staff was personable and helpful The room was clean and had the amenities that you would need (flat screen tv with direct tv, Wi-Fi ,refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, iron and board, coffee maker. CONS: I've had much better continental breakfasts at other hotel/motels including Best Western. Most items are prepackaged which is fine but the "cooked food" was edible but not great. The breakfast area is very small with only 4 tables. This can be a problem if a few families arrive for breakfast at the same time. If you plan on using the table in your 2 queen sized bed room - you need to be aware that the table really can only be sat at by one person. There isn't enough room to get to the second chair.

    « Disappointed »

Booked room through Priceline for $226 per night for 2 nights. First the room smelled terrible like mold- there was water spots in the ceiling, there was water spots on the drapery by the door- it was HOT, like 92 out so with the air on full blast it just spread the mold spores everywhere. Within 10 minutes my son started complaining about his throat hurting. We ended up leaving the room and eating over $500 to find a cleaner and healthier room.

« if you are a family do not pick this hotel »

when I called to make the reservation I told the lady I had 3 kids and needed a roll a way bed which she told me she would make sure I had one for my room. when we arrived we where told that none of the rooms where big enough for a roll away bed so my 3 kids had to sleep in 1 queen size bed which they where not comfortable in. our room was so hot is made our nights miserable even though the ac was running. when I checked in I told the front desk that I would like to pay cash the guy told me that we pay when we check out but my room was charged to my credit card 2 days before check out. we checked out a day early because it was so miserable in our room. when I asked the guy at the front desk about my card being charged the guy told me he checked me in and never told me that. when he was not the one that checked me in and I was told that. I assumed that when I paid for parking that it there was security for our cars or something but nope no security. I'm not really sure why we had to pay for parking. free breakfast was offered but there was no where to sit and eat. there are 4 tables in the dining area which the dining area is smaller that our room. 2 tables that seat 4 and 2 tables that seat 2 and we are a family of 5 plus the area to get to breakfast was so cramped that there was absolutely no way to enjoy breakfast. I did like the oatmeal bar. and that you offered Yoplait yogurt, little boxes of cereal and the little store bought muffins because the cooked food was not very good at all. the pancakes where tough i had to cut them with a knife, the eggs tasted like rubber with sandwich cheese in the middle. the bacon was not cooked and I'm not sure what kind of sausage that was but it was not good. the only thing i really liked was that the refund to my card was same day and the house keeping was really good. the house keeping took great care with our stuff if we left something on the bed before we left it was folded and on a clean fresh made bed when we got back the kids stuffed animals where always placed nicly on the bed with little choclets that my kids loved. yep house keeping is the only reason i didnt absolutely hate this place.

Good clean room and bed. Not noisy at all (on the second floor at least). Within walking distance to everything from Ripley's Museum to the Castillo to St George St. Definitely will come back here.Management and staff are very friendly and helpful.

    « Great room, location, & service! »

Great room, location, & service! The staff was very friendly and gave extra turn down service in the evening which was nice to come back to a clean room with new towels shortly after checking in and going out.

    « Perfect location »

I really don't think Anthony Melcchiori will be visiting this place anytime soon. We were greeted by the front desk person and he gave us an overview of the area, including when and where breakfast was served. The biggest draw is the LOCATION. It is walking distance to the historic St. Augustine area. They offer an adequate continental breakfast, coffee was good, choice of creamers, etc, bagels, omelettes, etc. While I still would prefer to have a sink IN the area of the shower instead of separate and inthe room, I still can't complain. Plenty of channels on the cable TV when you got back to the room to relax. Ok, so the only problem we did have was, while the front desk guy was very courteous and nice, he informed us that we would get "turn down service with a chocolate on the pillow" if we did not put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. So we didn't put it on. When we got back to the room later that night, there was no turn down service. Needless to say, we DID put the Do Not Disturb sign in the door thenext night... The other thing was we had a family in the next room with apparently small chldren that liked to scream at 11 p.m. And 7 a.m. Of course. this isn't the fault of the hotel. It's the stupid parents. I just banged on the wall to let them know they were pushing my buttons. Parking was tight (i mean TIGHT to get in and out of the parking space) but once we checked in, we didn't even have to use the car because we were so close to the historic district.

    « Great location!! »

We checked into our room with no problem nice staff. Our room was clean and the beds very comfortable. The location is amazing for downtown!! Walking distance to lots of yummy restaurants. No complaints. Great water pressure for shower. Kiddos enjoyed the pool and hot tub.

« Good Option for Price and Location »

I live in Tampa and have been to St. Augustine many times. The weekend prices are always high and the closer you get to old city the prices go up. This hotel is a little further so the prices are usually lower. It is right across the street from the trolley depot, so we usually start out walking to our destination and have the option of hopping the trolley back if we get too tired or if the weather turns bad. The motel is nothing fancy -- your typical older chain-type accommodations but it was clean and the people were very friendly and helpful.

« Great Hotel for St. Augustine visit »

Within walking distance to the Fort, St. George St., a trolley stop and many attractions. Rates were reasonable and staff friendly. The rooms were a bit small as well as the dining area. However, for the price, I thinks it's an excellent deal.

    3
« Great Location For the Price »

Super friendly staff, rooms were clean, location was great, and we could walk to everything. The parking lot was tight, but other than that we would definitely stay there again. Our friends were also happy with the choice to stay at this hotel, as the price was good. Everyone liked the breakfast and all of us had a pleasant stay.

« Good Location, Bad Mattress, and Road Noise. »

For a motor lodge Best Western not bad. We need stay in motor lodges, that is just me. I did not pay attention to this fact when I, last minute, booked this location. The staff was professional and courteous. I was disappointed that they did not offer more dry goods as most hotels have small 24 hour "nooks" for snacks, toiletries, and head ache pills. I had to run down the street to get Advil. That did not make me happy. The room was recently renovated but the bed might as well have been a stack of plywood. Our luck seemed to not be with us for that issue on this trip. Note for next time: find out comfort level of mattresses in rooms. The location was really close to the historic downtown but too close to the main road since we got to listen to that all night. Ask for the west side of the hotel that might be better.

    5
    « Location was awesome »

Location was great. The staff was very, very helpful. The price was very reasonable. I would stay again. Wish we would have stayed longer in Saint Augustine there is so much history to learn about and lots of sites to see.

    « Great choice »

We decided to get this motel right in the tourist area. It is directly across from the Fort and great for walking in the historic district. The room was compact but well appointed. We stayed in room 104 which was close to the office and had great wifi reception, but I'm not sure about how it would be further from the office. The clerk was very helpful and friendly. The pool was refreshing, a nice treat after the heat of the day. I should remark that we got a good deal on this hotel so we considered it a value.

    « St Augustine »

We enjoyed our stayed at Best Western in St Augustine, FL. Our room was clean and so was the pool. We enjoyed our breakfast each morning during our stay. This motel was close to everything that we wanted to see while in St. Augustine.

    « an enjoyable experience »

The front desk staff is outstanding. They go the extra mile to ensure stay is an enjoyable on. The rooms are spotless and well maintained. Breakfast fare is above average. Highly recommend this motel if staying in St. Augustine.

    « Wonderful »

Wonderful stay, all staff from reception to maid service were so polite and courteous , nothing was too much trouble for them, great hotel close to tourist sites, most within walking distance, will defiantly recommend and go back, thank you to all who made our stay so enjoyable, see you next year

    4
« Nice and convenient to downtown »

Good breakfast, lots of cable channels, free Wi-Fi that connects easily and the best is its vicinity to historic downtown, a three-minute walk to St. George St. The only gripe I personally had was the fact that our "neighbors" had young children in their room and we could hear them screaming and playing very loud at 11 pm and 7 a.m. Parents should learn how to be more considerate of others and reprimand their kids.

    5
    « Great location! »

Great location! Near trolley stops, within walking distance to Castillo Des San Marco and the city gates. The rooms were clean. Front desk staff was very helpful. They gave directions, suggested some great restaurants and even gave us coupons. Parking was tight, but manageable. Price was pretty reasonable. Breakfast was pretty typical, but definitely nice to have.

    4
    « Bathroom Fan Issues »

Pleasant stay other than a highly annoying noise from the bathroom fan. Should have been corrected before we arrived or while we were there! I was informed by staff that ours was not the only room with the same problem.

    5
    « Great Beds »

This hotel provided great beds and the rooms were clean and quite at night for a good night sleep. Internet service was a little slow. Staff was helpful and the breakfast items were very good. The hotel has two floors but no elevator for guest.

    4
« Unbeatable Location and Price »

For the money, this is the best location to walk around Saint Augustine. It is located just across the street from the Visitors Information Center. We were able to walk to all the main historic district sites from here. It also meant we could easily run back to the hotel to grab something, change clothes or have a quick rest. The rooms are dated, but clean. The staff were super friendly and helpful. There was a fridge and mini coffee maker In our room. We were able to keep some cold beverages on hand and our cold packs in the freezer for our cooler. The parking is an additional $5 a day, but well worth it since you can come and go as you please. Otherwise, parking is expensive in the historic district of Saint Augustine. Breakfast was adequate and kept us going until lunch.

    3
    « St. Augustine »

Hotel has outside entrance which we really don't like but room was clean and parking lot is tight. Close to St. Augustine activities, the beach and trolley tours. Right on the main drag of St. Augustine, walking distance to most of the sights.

    4
    « good location »

This was within walking distance of most of the main parts of St. Augustine, particularly St. George Street and also the restaurants in that area. Since available parking is limited in this area that was extremely important.

    4
« Good St. Augustine Option »

This hotel is a very solid option. A short walk to sites and to downtown restaurants. Our room was clean and neat. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was not anything special, but did offer a variety of options and served the purpose. Parking is a $5 fee but is well worth it.

    « GREAT PLACE »

Great location and very quiet. We will definitely stay at the BW on Castillo again! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was Immaculately clean everyday and each night when we returned from dinner we had 2 kisses candies awaiting our return. :-)

    « Can't beat the location »

I arrived in St Augustine by greyhound and the location of the hotel couldn't have been better! It is also on the trolley stop too which is helpful at the end of the day when your feet are tired from all the sightseeing! The staff were very helpful and the rooms are comfortable. The breakfast isn't great but apart from that it's a good hotel.

« Ideal location and worth every penny »

My husband and I recently came to St. Augustine for an anniversary trip. Both of us had been to the city as children, but this was the first time planning a trip there ourselves. After reading a lot of reviews on tripadvisor, we decided on the Best Western Spanish Quarter Inn and I am very happy we did! The hotel appears to be a little older but was very clean. The staff were all friendly and helpful. They offer a hot breakfast but my husband and I decided to take advantage of all the wonderful restaurants in walking distance so never ate at the hotel. It is literally walking distance to almost everything we wanted to do in the city. We decided not to spend money on the trolley tour bc of this. However, we did take an uber twice and it was about $5 each time. Overall, this hotel helped make our trip a memorable one and we will be staying here again next time we visit St. Augustine!

    4
« Best Location for colonial St Augustine »

I rated this 2 story motel very good because of its location within a couple of blocks of colonial Saint Augustine. Parking is only $5 a day versus paying up to $20 per day at some parking lots near historic sights. Also it is directly across the road from Ripley's Believe or Not one of the trolley stops, which allows you to hop on a trolley with a prepaid ticket (available the day before at several kiosks selling discounted next day tickets). Check in was quick by pleasant staff. Thought the room was okay - updated with comfy bed, new carpet and drapes, painted walls, newer furnishings, refrigerator, microwave and somewhat updated but tiny bathroom. Had a corner unit on second floor near Castillo Drive so heard some street noise, but wasn't obnoxious. Breakfast was pretty good but served in tiny crowded room so we took tray of food to our room to eat. Since we were rarely in our room we thought it was fine. Also there is a small pool and hot tub on the premises surrounded by a block wall (no landscaping or resort feel but nice after a long day walking in the heat). Parking is crowded in front of the lobby area but there are secondary parking lots which had more room. With an advance purchase nightly rate combined with parking savings I think you should consider staying here. If you prefer 3 and 4 star hotels this is not your place.

« Great Value Great Staff Great Location »

Pleasantly surprised. Staff was outstanding. Complimentary breakfast included hot foods too. Accommodations a little worn down but kept very clean. Great location within walking distance of downtown St Augustine. Fantastic value for a family vacation.

    « Great Location »

Great location. Staff was helpful. The room was clean and satisfactory. Short walk to the historic district, restaurants & bars. Only negative is they charge $5/night to park. They do offer free WiFi Request a room towards the back. Mine was in the front, near the street. Trucks woke me up at 06:00am. I was going to get up anyway so no problem. The breakfast was very satisfactory. Desk staff was helpful & provided a good map of the historic district.

    « Location is everything »

Due to parking issues in St Augustine this hotel means you can leave the car and walk to the tourist areas easily.be aware the rooms are very small and one of the smallest bathrooms I have ever seen. Beds a bit hard for me. Clean rooms.

    « We will return! »

This hotel is perfectly positioned for touring St. Augustine via hop on hop off trolleys or on foot. Hotel is spotless and quiet. Staff is professional, friendly and helpful. This was our second stay and we plan to return a third time for the city's Nights of Lights celebration later this year.

    « Wonderful stay »

We had a great stay. This inn is in a great location. You can walk to many of the historic sites, including the Castillo de San Marco. The staff was very helpful in suggesting things to see and places to eat. The breakfast area is small, but the breakfast is very good.

« Good location, not terrible for the price. »

My sisters and I stayed at this best western one night on a quick trip to St. Augustine. You can't beat the location. It's walking distance to everything in the historic downtown area so it made for a convenient stay. The room was okay. The beds were really comfortable, but the carpet seemed a little questionable. The bathroom was fine, but there was no fan in the shower area so it got too hot while anyone was in there with the shower running. Also, parking is ridiculously tight at the hotel. They have lots on either side but both of them were so tight it literally took me a good five minutes to maneuver our mall SUV in and out of a tiny space without hitting the car beside me or the wall directly behind. So if you have a decent sized truck or SUV, you might be best off parking somewhere else. Overall, we enjoyed our quick stay and for the price it was a decent deal.

    4
    « Can't beat the location »

The location was awesome! It's pricey for a Best Western but you can't beat the location and everything in St Augustine is pricey so not so bad in comparison. The breakfast was decent and every staff person I met was very nice. The bed was pretty comfortable.

    « a review »

« Great location for exploring St Augustine »

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. The staff upon arriving was very nice and offered some great tips for things to do while in town. The room was small but adequate with a fridge and microwave, king bed, small table and bathroom area. The free breakfast was good with some hot items and the usual cereal, pastries, yogurt and fruit. The parking was tight and small lot so you may have to park next door. The location was perfect though a block away from Ripleys and the fort. St George street was across the parking lot with the visitor center. Easy walking to all of downtown and most of the attractions. The hot tub was not working while we were there but overall it was a great stay!

    4
    « Very friendly hotel »

Awesome staff, comfortable clean quiet rooms, great location right at the trolley stops. We loved our stay and will choose this hotel again if we return to St Augustine. We were in two rooms on the ground floor, and except for very tight parking, everything about our stay was great.

    4
« Friendly Staff, Great Location, Small but Clean Rooms »

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean but small. They are also a bit dated (bathroom fan rattled a bit). The location is excellent for anyone who wants to walk anywhere in Historic Downtown Saint Augustine. Daily parking fee was cheap compared to some other hotels and especially when compared to trying to park in and around Saint Augustine yourself. Cost and overall value would depend on the rate and time of year. I think I got my money's worth. Bottom line...it's a Best Western not the Ritz Carlton, but the gracious staff, great location, clean rooms, and budget friendly costs, make this a nice place to stay. I will come back to this hotel again.

    4
    « St Augustine »

Clean and friendly hotel. Breakfast was good. The room is too tight with 2 queen size beds otherwise good. The price of the room on Thurs. was great but it jumped $100 for a Fri. night. It was centrally located and the receptionist called a bus to pick us up to go get our tickets for the hop on and off Old Trolley Train. It was well worth the price because you can use your ticket for 3 days. We only stayed one day and it was still worth it. I would stay again, the staff was excellent.

    5
    « THE PERFECT HOTEL! »

Great location, 1 block from the historic district and the water. Very comfortable beds with stacks of fluffy pillows, very quiet even though it was Bike Week, micro/fridge, hair dryer, coffee maker, turndown service with mints on your pillow, plenty of lighting, great breakfast [omelets, sausage or biscuits and gravy, a dozen kinds of cereals, Sara Lee muffins and danishes, hash browns, pancakes, toast, 3 kinds of fruit, oatmeal and more]. And the staff was very helpful with info and trolley tickets but Sherry was outstanding! What a terrific lady! She makes it feel like you are staying with family. We hated to leave her. Thanks, Sherry!

    « Less Than Perfect »

I booked this hotel because I've stayed at this chain in the past and was surprised with disappointment. Dirty floors, hair in the bathroom, moldy smelly A/C, seemed like bedbugs the next morning woke up with bites on my legs and arms. For the price trust me you're only paying for the location definitely not the cleanliness or staff assistance. I would recommend a different hotel as this wasn't a good experience. Location was great but for $170 a night could have at least fully cleaned the bathroom. Don't book it, try another hotel.

    5
« Best Value in Historic Area (old Town) »

We always use this hotel if we are planning to enjoy the nightlife in St. Augustine. It is within easy walking distance of St George street and the trolley tour office is right across the street. The front desk can provide tickets to all of the major attractions. We enjoy being able to park the car and not worry about it for our entire stay.

« Yearly trip to music festival »

Today we checked into our usual hotel for the yearly music festival. Mind you we booked it a year in advance. When we arrived the main entrance was blocked off. Workers are painting the outside. We were forced to park on the opposite side of the building from our room. We were given reason to expect it to be open shortly as this was Friday evening. After a few hours we needed our bags so once again we were forced to carry them around the building. When I asked the night guy when it was to open he indicated " sometime" but unsure.. I wanted assurance it would be tonight. None received. We proceeded out the door from the breakfast area that we were invited through earlier to retrieve our bags and he locked it behind us. Forcing us to walk further around the building. Now the workman have left. The lot still is not open. At this point If anything happens to the 2 motorcycles costing 100,000 on the opposite side of the building I will hold Best Western responsible. Not to mention the rudeness and inconvenience this work is causing. Especially since on line rates are showing at 300.00 night.. This is not acceptable treatment for yearly returning guest!!

    « Good location! »

We stayed at this hotel for 4 weeknights in February. We were happy with the location; being within walking distance to the historic area and across the street from the trolley stop. Our room was small, but was clean and the king bed was comfortable. We had a refrigerator and microwave, which made it nice since we were staying multiple nights. It was the closest room to the road and we were worried about the road noise, but that wasn't a problem since we were gone most of the day and the road traffic does die down in the evening; however, we did run the A/C fan continuously all night to drown that out. The parking was $5.33 a night, including tax. It was definitely a tight squeeze; some spots are wider than others, so if you have a large vehicle, try to pick one of the larger spots. We had to back our truck in and work it back and forth, but it is doable. We bought tickets on the trolley and left the truck parked in the lot. That way we didn't have to worry about driving and parking! Breakfast was a step up from what one might expect. Each morning, they had three warm items, which we found tasty, and they also had brand name cereal, muffins and pastries. We found the staff courteous and helpful. We got very good rates for this hotel and overall were very pleased. We would definitely stay here again!

    3
    « Convenient Location »

This hotel is well located for a visit to Saint Augustine. It is an older hotel and the rooms are small. Our king bed was comfortable and the room was clean. « Great Location when in St. Augustine »

About our 4th visit to St. Augustine and location wise this is definitely a good place to stay. Parking is a little tight but we did not experience any problems. The location makes it easy to either take the trolley or walk. Lot's of very good restaurants near by.

« Best Western St Ugustine »

Did some searching & had stayed at a comparable priced hotel (Magnuson) and this was much nicer and closer to old town, easy walking distance. Staff was friendly. Breakfast area and the parking area is cramped but otherwise was fine.

    « Eww »

The room was dirty! There was mildew growing on the ac and on the curtains. Bathroom was super small. The doors are not self-closing. The info book in the room was full of stains. The breakfast area was cramped and uncomfortable for a family of 5 to sit together. The front desk staff is rude. They could have cared less about any of my concerns. Stay at the Double Tree!

    4
    « Great Bargain! »

    « Hotel »

A fine hotel that is close to and convenient for sight-seeing the St. Augustine area. It is across from the visitor center and only a ten minute walk to the old town area. Although not one of the newest and most up-to-date hotels, it is clean and well kept.

« In the thick of it »

Chose this hotel because of the moderate cost and area. Booked on Bookings.com and saved $60 a night off of room rates. The trolley stops right across the street from the hotel. The staff at the hotel are phenomenal. They have maid service during the a.m. and in the late afternoon they come around again to see if there is anything you need. If you get a room with two queens, the walking room is tight. Carpet was wearing near the bathroom and parking is tight but if you use the trolley, you never have to move your car. You are within walking distance of old town. I would stay here again if visiting St Augustine Old Town. Thanks again, Jerry!

    5
    « More than convience »

Most of why you want to visit St. Augustine is within walking distance of this hotel. It was an easy check-in/out. The breakfast room is very small but food was good. There are trays available for take out. The rooms are all outside doors. We appreciated that there was a magnetic hook in our curtains to fully close them against anyone walking by. There was plenty of parking. The room was clean and pull down service is available.

I decided on this best western after a lot of research I hit the nail on the head it it was perfect great price although you do have to pay$5 each day to park but it's worth it it's expensive to park in town the hotel is close enough we never had to leave with the car which was my goal the room was very clean staff was very helpful it was convenient for walking everywhere Fort Castillo ,George st where all the action it's right as crossed from the train trolley tour and Riley's believe it or not will definitely use it again

    « Nice hotel »

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here. Great location. We walk everywhere. The hotel is clean, staff is friendly. Breakfast is ok. Only downside is I wish breakfast seating area was larger. One morning it was fine, but the 2nd morning it was packed. Also, the furniture in the room, mainly the tv stand is too deep for the room. Felt cramped with a family of 4 trying to move around. But overall I liked it and would stay again.

The location is great, across the street from Ripley's believe it or not! Walking distance to St George street, shopping, dinning and historical sites. My wife and I stopped in St. Augustine for a visit on our way south. The Best Western suited our criteria for being close to the attractions and reasonable price. Small is the first word that comes to mind, starting with small, but adequate parking spaces. Our room was small, but adequate. The service and quality was not small, starting with the knowledgeable and friendly receptionist. There was no need to cross the street to the visitor's center after conversing with him. The room and bath were up-to-date with modern conveniences.

    « Great Location-one night stop »

We wanted a quick visit to St Augustine, so we stayed at the Best Western Spanish Quarter Inn. We were there only a few hours so it was a perfect place to stay to walk to the Fort and the old town shopping. The bed was very comfortable, room was clean, but the bathroom was tiny. If you need space in your bathroom ask them about it first. It may have been the room I was given. They do charge you $5 parking fee, but it was worth it.

« Walking distance to all we wanted to see »

Easy walk into the Spanish quarter/tourist area where we wanted to shop (her) and eat (me). Breakfast was very good. Room was a little tight for 2 queen beds and the breakfast area was also a little crowded, but breakfast was very good!

    « Perfect Location »

You can walk everywhere you might want to go. You are steps away from a visitors center, St George St shopping, the waterfront etc. rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and the complimentary breakfast is good. I especially liked the little cheese omelette. You really get your money's worth here. Only downside was that they charge $5 per day for parking in their lot, which is pretty tight in front of the rooms. I don't know if that is common practice in town.

    « Comfort & Location »

We've stayed at other hotels in the are including a BW in the middle of the Historic District. We prefer this property. Quiter, cleaner close to town but a better hotel. The parking in front of the rooms is a little tight, but parking adjacent to the hotel was convenient and provided easier in and out access.

    3
    « Thin Walls »

Amazing location. Right in the heart of historic St Augustine. Easily walk to every shop, restaurant, attraction, bar, ice cream parlor, etc. Walls between rooms are very thin. I could easily hear every word of the TV show the guests were watching in the room next to mine. That could kill the mood if on a romantic trip. Staff was very helpful with recommendations. Overall a good place to stay.

« St. Augustine Best Western »

Perfect location. Friendly staff. The parking is quite tight but manageable. The breakfast was great especially the sausage and biscuit with gravy. You can get the trolley pass right at the front desk which makes it convenient.

    4
« Perfect Location for Sightseeing »

We love this hotel because we don't have to do any extra driving. Just walk out the door and you are close to downtown shopping, restaurants and major attractions. The staff are very helpful and friendly. You may pay a little more but rooms are clean and you save on driving and parking.

    5
    « Very Nice »

Stayed at this hotel many times visiting St. Augustine. close to major attraction, Barnacle Bills next door excellent seafood and bar, and helpful staff with activities. Staff was friendly with request. Hot tub was hot but the jets didn't work very well.

    3
    « excellent service »

The Best Service from Jerry at the Front Desk. He does Everything with a smile. Even came to the room to fix the TV. Reasonable price included breakfast. Typical Best Western room. Not meant to spend a lot of time in.

« Helpful Staff and walking distance to everything »

We were greeted by a very friendly reception staff who gave us heaps of helpful information regarding the town including booking us on the Tour of City Lights, which was a highlight of our trip at St Augustine, and not to be missed if there in the winter. The rooms were basic, but clean and well maintained. Likewise the complimentary continental breakfast was a basic affair, and a bit cramped eating it in the tiny guest dining room, but for the price it was great value for money.

    3
    « Girls trip »

The room was clean and upkeep while we were there was satisfactory. The beds are firm and comfortable. Free breakfast was adequate. The front desk staff are very helpful and courteous as they permitted another car for free parking. The point of visiting St. Augustine is to get out and enjoy everything the city has to offer. Therefore, staying in a "petite" room didn't take away from our trip. All in all, it's an affordable place to stay for a weekend trip.

    5
    « Great stay »

This is the 2nd time staying here. Jerry checked us in and was just great. Room's clean and beds were Great. Only a block to St George Street. Only thing is the parking is small and they charge $5.33 for parking, at the room prices that should be FREE.

« Corley Carter Hodgson Weekend Stay »

The only "complaint" if you will, the furniture in the rooms, specifically the piece the televisions sit on. The chest is too deep for those rooms, makes it a wee bit "tight" when moving to and from the restroom.... or in general. Mind you the objective of a stay in St Augustine is not to be situated in the room the entire time, but it was noticed when we were in the room. Again, if that's the worst complaint you ever receive, you know you're doing it right!!!!

« Good place to stay »

Room was good, recently renovated except for bath. Price good, location excellent. Staff very helpful. Breakfast was better than advertised, but room only had seating for 18 and very cramped. Had to take breakfast to our room 2 of the 3 days we were there and room ins't conducive to 2 people eating there. Not perfect but good value for the money. Parking is very tight.

« Holiday lights in St. Augustine »

Stayed at the Best Western -Spanish Quarters. So convenient, walked to everything! The bed was the best we've slept on! Price was so good and the desk person was so helpful. She offered places to go and discount coupons for restaurants and tourist stuff. We will be back again.

    « very convienent »

This was a great place to stay for location and price. The breakfast area was very small but plenty of food. Parking was very tight. Sherry checked us in and she was wonderful. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

« Good but Bayfront Inn better »

We stayed at both of the Best Western Inns on our trip. They are both similar, both great but this one (the Spanish Quarter Inn) has smaller rooms and is noisier. Both are centrally located within a few minutes walking distance to the historic area which features hundreds of shops and 50+ restaurants. Both Best Westerns are similarly priced around $100/night.

« Lots of thought has gone into the amenities to make up for the narrower rooms and parking situation »

First and foremost: This hotel is fortunate to have Jerry and Sherry on its staff. Upon check-in, Jerry informed us that if we could not get down to breakfast, they would be able to bring us certain things (but not omelets or hot stuff like that). I don't know if this is because I use a wheelchair or if this is something they do for everyone. But the fact that this is even an option is cool. We didn't use it, but it's nice to know we could have. A note about the handicap accessible rooms: those are king-sized beds and those are on the side of the building where the handicap spots are. We needed two beds, so I can't comment on the handicap rooms. I *can* tell you that the rooms are a bit narrow. I can walk short distances, so walking around the room was not an issue, but if you need a wheelchair to walk, you are going to want to ask about the true accessibility of the handicap room. Two people cannot pass each other between the ends of the beds and the front of the dresser to get to and from the bathroom, so yea, it is a little narrow, but it makes up that by being so close to everything. Second tip: Back your car in, get your stuff out, and never get in your car again unless you're going out toward Anastasia for the alligator farm, the sanctuary, or lighthouse. Even though I'm in a manual wheelchair, we walked/rolled to the distillery/ice plant. It's not hard. The vanity is at the end of the room, and the part of the bathroom with door is what houses the tub/shower and toilet. Old school motor lodge style. I usually like staying in places with interior hallways, but because of ,my current mobility situation, this was what I "settled" for in my mind when I booked. Now that I've stayed there for five days, I would not say I settled at all. The beds were a little harder than what I'm accustomed to, but my son was able to fall asleep no problem. I'm sure that coming back to the room well past his normal bedtime and being exhausted helped him be able to crash as hard as he did. My husband and I both had trouble with the mattress. However, everyone found the pillows to be really comfortable. You'll come back to your room and find bottles of water on the bathroom vanity each day. You'll also find that housekeeping leaves kisses on your bed when they come in and turn down the bed. Yea, that's right - they turn down the bed. We discovered that housekeeping also took all the used towels, even the ones that were not on the floor, each day. You know how they tell you to leave the towels you want swapped out on the floor, but hang towels up if you're okay with re-using? We did hang up things like hand towels, but they even exchanged those for new ones. Housekeeping noted that we had removed the coverings from one bed and added a blanket to the second and figured out that this was how we wanted things. That's how they made up the beds daily. We never touched the television because we listened to music when we were in the room getting ready to leave or winding down. But the remote was in a bag that said it had been sanitized. The bathroom was probably one of the cleanest I've seen in a motel in a long time. No gunk built up in the corners behind the doors or near the tub like I usually find. No rusted ring around the tub drain like you'll often see. They offer a Pantene Clean 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner, which they restock as you use it. The fridge is not a mini one. It's one of those taller dorm fridges. Not a little block fridge. We had about a dozen bottles of water with us and eight of the mini cokes and had no trouble fitting all of that. There would have been room for leftovers if we wanted to bring anything back to the room. There's a table and two chairs in front of the A/C unit that takes up a lot of space. One person will have to climb onto the bed on that side from the foot of the bed. The chair that's on the wall side is virtually useless. If you have a lot of devices with you, you are going to LOVE that the outlets have been placed above the nightstand AND that there are USB ports built into the outlets. Free wifi. Lots of thought has gone into the amenities to make up for the narrower rooms and parking situation. If Casa Monica is out of your price point and a B&B isn't what you're looking for, then this is where you'll want to stay for the location. You are literally right across the street from the parking garage. Very good stay.

    « Night of Lights »

Stayed at the Best Western Spanish Quarter Inn for a night to experience St. Augustine's Night of Lights. This inn is located about a block away from the north entrance to St. George St, and across the street from Ripley's & their Holiday train tours. Great location, didn't have to use the car at all. Everything's within walking distance. Rooms were OK, staff and breakfast were fine. Would stay there again next time.

    4
« Nice Place to Stay Short Term »

Small rooms and especially small bathroom, Everything clean and beds were comfortable. It is an older BW so no elevator. Railings were a bit wobbley. No elevator if you book second floor. If you enjoy pleasant staff and a nicer breakfast with comfortable beds and LCD DIRECT TV television. Stay here. And the price is fair for a touristy area. I would stay again.

    5
« You can not do better then this hotel »

We stayed here 2 years ago and enjoyed it. When I made our reservations for 4 nights I I inadvertently made them for the Historic Inn. When we showed up there at 9 pm on a Friday night during Festival of Lights, I saw my mistake. With some help from both hotels we were able to stay for 2 nights at the Spanish Quarter Inn. They were booked for the next 2 nights but did their best at getting us a room but did find another hotel but t was certainly not up to the Spanish Quarter Inn. They are so centrally located right across the street from the trolleys. My husband has a scooter and everything is close by. My only complaint is the parking lot and the small pillows.

    5
    « BESTEST Weekend ever »

The Best Western is ideally located, away from the crowd and noise but convenient to all of the attractions. We are already planning our next stay. Was great to be able to buy local attraction tickets at the front desk.

    « Good hotel, but.... »

Best Western Spanish Quarter Inn is a cute small hotel. The location is perfect, it's next to almost everything. The rooms were clean, the hotel staff is friendly, and the free breakfast is yummy. The only problem that I ran into, is the parking is a pain. You have two very small parking lots. If you have a huge car or truck good luck on backing out, since there is no room. They have extra parking next to them in another location. It's off the hotel premises, you will not be able to keep a look out on you're car.

« Would return here on our next trip! »

Staff is friendly, helpful and do their best to accommodate. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Excellent location yet reasonably priced. Assistant General Manager, Sheri Jonas is an asset to the organization.

« Great place to stay »

My friends and I go to Saint Augustine a couple of times a year, we have stayed twice at the best-western Spanish Inn. We returned there because of the friendliness of the staff....clean rooms and easy access to all the attractions.

    3
« Decent but not great »

The location is a great one - right next to a visitor center and cemetery, if you're wanting to walk to Georgetown St for shopping, it's not bad from this hotel. The issue is the room size is pretty tiny, two people can't walk by the beds to the other end of the room. That's not a major issue since the price is relatively good, although I have to say their are other hotels as nice and in as good locations where the price is the same or even cheaper. The major issue is the parking - it's so awful. They have a small overflow section but the two trips we went here, the parking was so nerve-wracking and anxiety filled. The parking lot if so small that it is very difficult to park or back out of a space because of the distance between the cars. It gets so irritating if it's busy that most people won't move their cars until check out. The pool is refreshing but of course very small. The breakfast is excellent, I will say - good food and variety.

    4
« Well worth the price and the location was excellent »

Older hotel but upkeep was good and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were outstanding in their customer service. If your lucky enough to check in when Sheri Jonas the Assistant General Manager is their you will get all the information you could want on the surrounding area and where to go for meals. The hotel also has some coupons for certain activities. The breakfast was filling with some hot items to start the day. This is my second time their and I would recommend it. The location is really a great spot to be in except for the building directly in front. This claims to be just and information center but really its a hard sell travel club so don't get roped into going their unless you really wish to join.

« Good hotel in a great location »

I won't rehash everyone's comments on the location but it is the reason we chose the property. However, we were also happy with the hotel itself. It is an older property but it is reasonably maintained. Room was clean and quiet. The big surprise was that they offered an evening turn down service. Haven't seen that in any hotel for many years. No question, I'd stay here again on a return trip to St Augustine.

    2
    « Disappointed »

While the staff were truly exceptional they could not make up for the overall upkeep of this property. So happy that I did not see any "living" bugs but we did find a dead one. Bathroom curtain rod busted from wall so water was all over the floor. Curtain could not contain water due to the rod damage. Toiled was not cleaned in a long time (front had not been wiped down). Carpet was dirty.

    « Perfect Location »

Very close to major attractions and amenities, such as shopping, tours, etc. Our room was clean and everyone who worked at B. W. was helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again in the future!

« Best in Historic Area »

St. Augustine is a great city. Lots to do and see. Many bars with local entertainment, shops with unique items and reasonable prices. Parking can be a hassle and getting around in a car is not always easy. This is why we always stay the Best Western Spanish quarters. For five bucks a day, you can park your car in a secure lighted area just steps away from your room. This location is an easy walk to most of the historic area fun places to go. It is near the sightseeing train and now has a nice breakfast included in the price. The front office staff is more than helpful. Try it, you'll like it.

    3
    « Great staff - tight quarters »

Staff is amazing and helpful. Great location, because you can walk to downtown area. It is direct across from Ripley's Museum. It is tight quarters in room and breakfast area and parking on odd numbered rooms is very tight. If you have a large vehicle, request an even number room, as parking is a bit better on that side.

    5
    « St Augustine Stay »

This hotel is in a great location when you visit St. Augustine. You can walk to downtown which is only a couple of blocks from the hotel. It is clean, the staff friendly and has all of the aminities that we needed. Will definitelly stay there again!

    « Great Location »

5-10 minute walking distance to many of the historic attractions, restaurants, and shops. Very close to visitor center which has lots of great information about the area. Rooms were clean and breakfast was good with plenty of items to choose from.

« Great place within walking distance of all sites »

This hotel was recommended by the person who repairs our pool. He has stayed at three other Best Westerns in Saint Augustine and said this one is the best by far. This hotel is the cleanest and best maintained I have ever seen. The apples on the food bar were wrapped in plastic wrap, I have never seen that. The rooms were neat and clean. We went with two friends from London, UK, and on our final morning everyone's vote was positive to stay here again. The personnel at this hotel were great, very friendly and professional. The rooms are small and parking tight, but the convenience was well worth it. This hotel is within walking distance to everything. We were here for two days and never had to move the car after we parked it. My wife is handicapped and this is the first place we have ever seen that had a lift in the pool to move handicapped persons in and out of the pool.

    5
« The place to stay »

This is the best place to stay while visiting St. Augustine. Everything is in walking distance. They have upgrade their free breakfast from last year to include hot items. The service is great, they turn down your bed and leave chocolate on the bed. Have enjoyed both of our visits to this hotel and will return next year.

    2
    « vacation »

No lobby entrance to the room, no elevator in the hotel no room for two people to move around in the room. Did not like the direct entrance to the room from the outside. did not like to pay for parking. Travelers always have a vehicle should be included in the rate.

    4
« Great location, reasonable prices, super service »

Located in easy walking distance to all of the sights in the old city of St Augustine, and less than a block from the tour trolleys. Rooms are not large but are comfortable. The in-room wifi is good (and free). The complementary breakfast has lots of choices and is tasty. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

    2
    « Spanish Quarters BW »

Location is excellent, right in the heart of everything you want to see and you can walk to anything. Don't expect very much of the hotel itself and you won't be disappointed. The room was worn and musty, AC very noisy, pool dirty and unkempt. The only thing this place has going for it is the location. I'm not sure if that alone is worth the hefty premium in the rates.

    5
    « Location and more »

What a wonderful surprise this place is...i chose it for the location, walk to everywhere..its an older place remodeled, the rooms are small and dated, but.....very clean, beds very comfortable...nightly turn down service....friendly employees...excellent breakfast buffet ( however not a lot of places to sit to eat, so you have to be lucky to get one of the tables). Try to get a room on the first floor, you can pull your car right up to your door to unload, something todays hotels are all missing. I dont know if there is an elevator to the 2nd floor or not...if not you would have to lug your stuff up the stairs, so you may want to check. We would definitely stay here again.. Perfection for a great price.

« Best Western Review in St. Augustine, Florida »

The hotel is in a great location and walking distance to all of the sites; hotel staff very good to excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast nice to comparable hotels. Parking easy. I would stay at this hotel on my next visit to St. Augustine.

    4
    « Lovely little hotel »

Perfectly situated for exploring St Augustine. The tram tour stop is just over the road and the touristy George street is just a short walk away. This hotel is small but behaves like a larger one with turn down services, a pool and courtesy breakfast. We were delighted that they offered complementary bottles of water to two weary travellers too. The room was comfortable with two double beds, a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Parking on site. Over the road is a brilliant little restaurant - Barnacles Bills- reasonably priced the food good and plentiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here but have already recommended it to friends!

    4
    « Very Satisfied »

Although room was small (narrow), it was very clean and queen beds were comfortable. Staff was very helpful. As long as we are just two people, I would definitely stay here again. Location is also good. Cons: $5 daily charge for parking and lot is very tight/small (please not that public parking for handicapped is free in the stat of FL and should have been at BW). Also, no fault of BW, but garbage pick up is at 6am and very noisy when you want to sleep later than 6am.

    « Close to attractions »

Not fancy but a good overall experience. Could walk to the places I wished to see in St. Augustine. Clean. Would stay again. Front desk very helpful upon arrival. Was allowed to park vehicle there although $5.00 charge per day but given the location, well worth the expense. We had a problem with the toilet but it happened the morning of our departure and did not in any way interfere with our stay. We reported the problem and I have to assume it was taken care of. The rooms were small but efficient and clean. Good stay.

« A motel with tiny rooms but terrific location & staff »

There was very little room around the two queen sized beds. Most of the bathroom is actually in the room because the toilet/tub area is the only part with a door. The staff was polite & helpful. You can't beat the location since it's close to so many attractions. The carpet was coming apart in the corners & the paint job has crooked lines where two colors meet. This is a simple, quiet, clean & convenient tiny motel(not a real hotel) for a reasonable price.

    4
    « Great location »

Easy walk to fort and shopping/restaurants in the historic district. Clean rooms, decent breakfast and very friendly staff. My only complaint is the tiny bathroom. Great value for the location. We definitely will stay here again on future trips.

« Best Western Spanish Quarter »

My husband and I stayed her for two nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable with plenty of soft pillows. The bottles of water left in the room were appreciated after walking all day. We really enjoyed the breakfast every morning. They changed the menu daily. We highly recommend this hotel. It is close to all of the attractions, rooms are clean and comfortable, and FREE breakfast.

    3
    « Great Location »

Hotel is situated right on the edge of the Old Town within walking distance of all attractions. Situated across the road from 2 trolley our stops and Ripleys Believe it or Not. Staff are very helpful and the rooms are clean but it is normal Motel fare. Free wifi is available and also a complimentary breakfast.

    « Great place »

Called this hotel when I had to leave another scuzzy hotel in the area. Tori at the front desk was so helpful. Gave us a great rate. She let us see the room before staying. So clean and up to date. She even gave some kind advice when my baby was sick in the middle of the night and brought us new sheets. Would gladly stay our next trip in

    2
« I will never stay here again »

We thought this would be a "nicer" hotel being so close in proximity to the downtown area. We were wrong. The AC was horrid. My husband nor I slept at all. The bathroom has a sliding pocket door, the room itself was quite small and we had a king room. We were told that they will be tearing it down to build a new one, hope that happens soon $200 a night is not well spent here.

    3
    « Clean and Convenient! »

Terrific location if wanting to walk throught he historic district. Can catch rain or trolley immediately across the street. The breakfast included was average. Staff was very helpful and courteous. Rooms were decorated nicely, but bathrooms very out dated. Good value for the price.

    4
« Not for light sleepers »

The hotel itself is nice, the rooms are a little small but we weren't in it much anyways. The staff was very friendly and gave us coupons for a couple restaurants. But, when it came time to sleep, a couple walked by our room late talking and it sounded like it was right in our room. Also, about 5am a truck was backing up for about 10 minutes it seemed. The outside noise is pretty noticeable of you don't have a tv on.

« Great location and very good for price »

Surprising quality hotel and services for a budget minded stay. The location is great. Easy walking distance to the Castillo de San Marcos site and St George Street pedestrian area which features shopping, restaurants, historical buildings ect. The rooms are small but have been updated. They also offer some nice services i.e. hot breakfast or free room service continental breakfast and bed turn-down in the evening. Best of all, the real measure of any experience is how well customer concerns are addressed. I experienced a problem when I first arrived and the front-desk staff and hotel management did everything possible to resolve the issue and make me happy. It was a complete pleasure receiving such good customer service. The only caution I have is the wifi signal was very weak. I would stay at this facility again.

    5
    « Great value! »

When searching for hotels in the historic district, prices are quite steep. While this is reasonable, I personally like to save on the hotel so I am able to spend more on attractions and trinkets. This hotel is close enough to downtown that transportation by foot is best! This hotel is close to downtown but without the price. We have been very pleased!

    5
« walking distance to ST George street »

Very close to St George street lots of shopping in area and lots of local history attractions the trolley makes lots of stops if you do not want to walk!! we bought the $24.00 each for trolley iit a good option but not nessicary lots to do in this area

    4
    « Perfect location on a budget »

It's all about location in St Augustine if you're there as a tourist and this facility is perfect! Short walking distance to Ripley's, Fountain of Youth, Visitor's Center and just a little further to walk to the Historic District. If you don't want to walk, get a 3 day trolley ticket (available at hotel desk) and one of the stops is right outside the hotel across the street. Friendly staff, not gourmet but a decent hot breakfast, nice pool and jacuzzi. Only negatives: rooms are very small as the king size bed (very comfortable) takes up the space and bathrooms can be a bit claustrophic, so this might not be a good place if you are traveling with kids. Also, parking is 5.00 per day and I didn't see that disclosed when I booked on line. Not a huge deal for a two night stay but if staying longer, it adds up. All in all, we would consider this hotel again!

    5
« Good Hotel, ideally situated »

We have stayed at this hotel before, two years ago, when on another touring holiday. We liked the area so much, we decided to include it in the last leg of this trip, too. The check in was friendly and efficient, the price was remarkably reasonable, especially considering its location. We were provided with area maps and personal directions and suggestions from the staff to help us male the most of the trip. Free Wi-Fi worked excellently, and the breakfast was good. If we return to St Augustine, which we certainly hope to do, we will definitely stay here again.
