"Over expectation"

My second time to stay there. This time, we stayed at a 2 bedroom with private spa. Unexpectedly having an ensuite. Beds are comfortable and showers are excellent. Feel like home. We enjoy playing table tennis and mini golf too. Just a little bit disappointment was the private spa as it had hairs, leaves and branches in it. Lucky that the public spa was empty during our stay that we still could have a dip. Looking forward to our third time.

We took our Mr 6 on a birthday Adventure in Rotorua as a surprise. We had a great time checking our what Rotorua had to offer. We love our unit we had a 2 bed unit with our door private spa. It was perfect! Clean and tidy, Lots of room for our family, great selection of TV shows for Mr 6 and Mr 35, lots of soft towels, great selection of hot drinks to choose from, big kitchen, big bathroom, power full shower, nice soaps, the heat pump kept us toasty warm. We had our own grass area that look out over the stream that was full of trout, and beautiful gardens, mini golf area, our own spa that was coverd it was so nice just to relax in the spa. Its a very quite down a side street. We will be back again to stay. There were two things that could be better and that would be the game room (it was bit messy and had a damp feel and smell) and the head board in Mr 6 room was banging every time he moved. Other that that it was great for us. Thanks for having us.

The set up and layout makes you forget that you are near a busy road. While you get a little noise at night in the bathroom and kitchen it is really quiet in the rooms. They have a nice little stream down the back a small mini golf and there is a playground for children. The units themselves a spacious warm and comfortable. Your room gets serviced daily. There is a restaurant on site that supplies room service as well and the food is really good. The staff a super nice and helpful and have reccomendations for what you can do in rotorua. Would highly reccomend staying here

Always a great place to stay. It is our unwind place for a night or a weekend. The staff are friendly and attentive. The resort is close to amenities but not in the heart of the city...so unless you thrive on the smell of sulphur...this is a great resort within 10 minutes drive to the centre of Rotorua. Close to the gondalas, luge and other great attractions.

Great place to stay, rooms are big, just out of town but close enough to still get amongst it. Close to the gondola and restaurants. Rooms are great, nice comfortable beds, bar and restraurant food is lovely, and service was great! Sky movies with recording ability, and a nice little river walk at the back. Loved the heated pool and the private spa bath!! Front desk service was awesome, very helpful. Would come back for sure!!

We stayed for three nights at Best Western Braeside. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room and reception gave you free fresh milk whenever you needed it. The rooms were clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. It was also well heated. Much needed, as it was mid winter and cold at Rotorua. We also used the guest laundry facilities, which were great. Our room had a private hot tub, which filled quickly and was great fun! The location was good and easy to find, with large supermarkets nearby.

What a brilliant place. Staff were all so pleasant and friendly. The room was well equipped and comfortable with a lovely small garden area in front of the room. Nice quiet location. My husband and I had dinner in the restaurant the first night. Great service and lovely food. We had breakfast each morning which is brought to your room at the time you choose. Breakfast was also excellent. We enjoyed our stay so much we didn't want to leave. We hope to return to New Zealand in the future and will definitely stay here again.

What a lovely place. Older yes but modern inside. Private courtyard overlooking stream with native trees. So clean. A heat pump (with NO preset temp) and a heater. Infinity hot water and a huge private spa pool. 100m from the skyline facilities, Breakfast in our room Delicious and well priced. Highly recommend the omelette. Wonderful friendly staff too.

Its so hard to find a true 2 bedroom and this was perfect. I hate turning up to a place and discovering the 2nd bedroom is actually the lounge. This unit was big, very clean and the Wi-Fi was excellent - with 2 teenagers this is very important. The mini golf was lots of fun. We didn't get to use the pool but it looked amazing and was heated to 28 degree. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will differently stay here again.

The place is just 200m across the road from Skyline Rotorua. You get your own parking space next to your unit. We had issues with our unit when we checked in but was immediately resolved. Tera and Angela were friendly, welcoming and also gave us advice on where to go and eat as it was our first time to visit Rotorua. The unit was serviced everyday. There was a mini golf course, pingpong table, badminton/volleyball net, playground and a warm outdoor pool with a small spa next to it. The place is on the outskirts of rotorua so one needs to drive 5-10 mins to get to the town proper or the lake. The only noise you will hear from the units are other vehicles getting in and out of the hotel parking lot. Extra comfort were added with a split system air conditioning in the living room, electric blankets on all beds and heated towel racks. Microwave was rather small.

I booked on line having done zero research! The Best Western Hotel/Motel is away from the flashing lights and busyness which is just what I needed and wanted. The room, while not luxurious, is clean, tidy, well equipped and value for money......and only a 5 minute drive from the city centre. Worth staying at unless you must walk to the lakes.

Best Western Breaside Rotorua. When we came here, the reception was 1 not too old lady who look quiet grumpy, but i talk to her nicely, she is quiet unpleasent with me maybe because i stayed for 3 people (wife n kid) but my reservation only wrote 1 adult, It was not my purpose when I booked it so i paid for antoher NZ$15 which ok for me because we have 1 king bed and 1 single bed in my room, which quiet big room. At the end the reception lady was nice and smiled and also gave a bottle of milk for my daughter. She is nice and lovely. The room was nice, cozy, super clean and it came with huge bubble Jacuzzi outdoor which fit for my wife and kid. We love it so much.  The bed came with heated bed, bathroom also have heater, it came with a kitchen also which you can bake some bread and some plates. The bathroom was big too, it's really suit you if you come with family and kids. Location was good too, it's walking distance to Rainbow spring.  Love the place and suit for family, recommend this place for family with young children like me.

Brilliant place to stay in Rotorua, we were upgraded to a 3 bedroom unit, as there were 5 adults in our group, lovely space, privacy was good, the extra bathroom was a godsend, and the private spa out the back was awesome. We were close to the main road but you would not have known very quiet. Clean, check in easy and staff very friendly.

23/05/2018

After researching reviews, we chose the Best Western Braeside for our night in Rotorua on our honeymoon. We got the suite with the patio jacuzzi which was a nice added benefit. You do need to fill it up, but it doesn't take very long - we started filling it and then got changed and was almost done when we returned. The back patio also had a peaceful stream behind it. The one downside was the location of the water heater was on the same wall as the headboard for the bed, so we would hear it kick on sometimes. The bathroom was HUGE! It is also located across the street from the Skyline Rotorua which we did the luge (and reviewed there) which was a huge plus. Overall this was a wonderful location on our roadtrip through New Zealand.

10/05/2018

First family holiday for us and we Loved staying here! It was just as beautiful in person as it was in the pictures we loved that! We stayed a total of 3 nights in a 2 bedroom with spa pool was absolutely bliss! Especially once the kids had gone to bed early and we could enjoy a quiet spa! Very clean and lovely staff! We loved the stream, mini golf and playground was a fabulous wind down for our busy boys ( 3 1/2yrs and 1 1/2yrs) after a big day of activities. Restaurant food was delicious we were pleased that they give you the option to order in, worked well for us as sometimes eating out is difficult boys get over excited so was really awesome to still have the option to eat delicious food but in the comfort of your own room! Was a Quick 2min walk across the road to the gondolas and rainbow springs perfect for a day out and a brief trip back to comforts afterwards. The rooms were modern and beds were comfy couldn't fault a thing! Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Overnight stay on business, I chose this place due to its reviews, Free WIFI and also there is a restaurant on site. Upon arriving I was greeted so warmingly! the service was fantastic. my room was perfect - clean, tidy - had a kitchen and parking right outside. Loads of Channels to watch on TV too. I didn't get to eat the onsite restaurant due to my time and meetings etc - but I had a good look around the restuarant looked great + swimming pool, Spa and meeting rooms available. Right opposite the Skyline Luge / Gondola too! I Highly recommend and will come back!

28/04/2018

This is located opposite the Gondola, its very quiet in the evening as its away from the city (about a 10 minute drive to central city). The grounds are park like and kept very tidy - lovely stream flowing through. There is a good range of facilities and all looked well kept. We stayed in the family two bedroom unit and it was very clean, had everything you needed and a great shower. Friendly welcoming staff. Well priced for size of room.

25/04/2018

You can tell by its build that this hotel has been around a bit. Having said that our room was spotlessly clean and reasonably well appointed. It looked a lot newer on the inside than you would think. It is situated on a pretty little stream that we saw trout in. A putt putt course and games room that we didn't get time to try. There is a small playground as well. Conveniently located for Skyline, Mitai and some other attractions. Only 5 mins to town centre. We had a 2BR room and it was good for our family of four. Only stayed one very rushed night but would stay again longer if we return.

16/04/2018

Stayed for 4 days in March. Staff are very good and welcoming. Everything is in one room, but everything needed is there, clean modern, fresh and comfortable. Braeside restraint was lovely and well priced whilst the hotel also offered facilities to use such as Crazy Golf, Table Tennis, small pool and spa. It is situated well out of Rotorua centre but close to other attractions such as the Mitai Village and the Cable cars. It also has the benefit of being away from the Geo Thermal smell! Would stay here again.

12/04/2018

For value this is very good. A little out of town but we walked to the centre, ok we're experienced hikers, but maybe 30 mins each way? Or a 5/10 minute drive. Units had everything we needed. Parking onsite was free and adjacent to unit which was one level. We had a superior room which backed onto a trout stream and there was a small balcony and a hot tub under cover. Didn't try the onsite catering. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed here two nights while in Rotorua. Overall, a good experience. This is a motel facility with parking at your door. Units are clean and bright if somewhat dated. Provides a kitchenette with stovetop for self catering and a coin operated laundry.

Stayed here 1 night on a business trip. Was great, we stayed in a 2 bedroom unit, cosy beds, a spa bath and sky. Stayed at a few places, but will continue to come back here when in Rotorua again. There is plenty to do at the site, pool, games room, trout stream/walkway. It was also very quiet, fast check in and check out and handy to town, tourist attractions and amenities (petrol etc.).

"Comfortable and good value"

We stayed overnight and were pleased with our choice. The room was clean and pleasant (while somewhat dated in decor) and the bed comfortable. The receptionist was welcoming and helpful.Quite a drive from the town centre. We would stay there again if visiting Rotorua.

"Very good value"

We stayed two nights at this motel in Rotorua. It is an older motel but in good condition. It is basic, clean and well maintained. Our suite was large: there was a grande room with a living room (with two sofas one of which was a sofa bed, a coffee table and a flat screen TV with lots of channels) at one end and the kitchen with a table and chairs at the other. The kitchenette had a fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, kettle and its own kitchen sink. There was no oven. The kitchenette was well stocked with cookware, utensils, china and glassware. The fairly large bedroom was in a separate room off the living room. The bed was comfortable. There was plenty of room for our suitcases plus a large closet. The bathroom was enormous. There was no bathtub. The shower was in the corner of the bathroom with just a shower curtain around it and it drained into a drain in the center of the bathroom; the shower was not in its own isolated stall but it was a good shower. This bathroom would be wheelchair accessible and usable. A door from the bathroom lead outside the back of the unit into a closed-in patio with an empty jacuzzi tub that would hold at least 4 people at one time. There was a door from this enclosed patio to a large and lovely back yard grassed area that was shared by many units (but I didn't see anyone else there during our entire stay). We didn't have time to sit and relax there but one certainly could or could run around and play with one's children. BBQs were also available to use. This grassy area was enclosed and not open to any roads or parking lots. Free parking directly in front of our front door (no stairs), ground-level unit. This motel had a good-sized outdoor swimming pool and a children's play area (in addition to the back yard grassed area). The staff were most pleasant and helpful. The motel is on the corner of the main highway and a side road. Our unit was very quiet. The motel is a bit of a drive from the downtown Rotorua area, the lake and other sites but we had a car and drove easily to all the sites we wanted to see in the area and to the area with lots of restaurants. There were only the two of us sharing this unit but the unit could easily accommodate four. I was a little disappointed with this motel when I first arrived as it is very basic and older but I grew to like it quickly as it was very functional, clean and quiet. It is definitely an adequate place but not luxury accommodation.

Thank you to the staff, I saw three different staff during my stay and they all had great helpful attitudes. My breakfast was so healthy and yummy, value! My room was perfect set up and wifi was fast with great connection. The spa was luke warm, would have liked it a bit hotter but still nice.

"Good for three"

30/03/2018

Needed a room with three beds and the fitted the bill. It's almost straight across the road from he skyline so a little n the outskirts of town. The room was actually two storey with three singles and a bathroom upstairs and a living area with a pull down double bed and another bathroom downstairs. A patio with a hot tub out the back and we were greeted by birds and sheep (behind a fence) in the morning. It was lovely, very clean and very good value for three females travelling together.

"A comfortable stay"

14/03/2018

We stayed three nights and enjoyed our stay, a comfortable spacious room overlooking a beautiful stream and garden. We even spied a trout in the stream, and the ducks were enjoying themselves too. The hotel is only a short walk to the cable car and restaurant overlooking the lake and only five minutes from the town centre and all of the spa and thermal activity. We enjoyed breakfast and a few meals at The Fat Dog, great food to be had. PS - we needed to do some mid vacation laundry and found Crystal Laundrette just two minutes away, (8/100 Fairy Springs Rd, Fairy Springs, Rotorua 3015). We were able to load our laundry and safely collect after a day of sight seeing. Clean machines and really helpful staff.

We had a room backing onto the trout stream with a hot tub on the balcony. That was a real pleasure after a long day. The room was basic but perfectly comfortable and well equipped. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was also good. Staff were welcoming.

"Large room with very helpful owner"

13/03/2018

The best western Braeside Rotourua was a very good place to stay. The room was quite large and gave a great feeling of space. It was outside of downtown and was very quiet. Only downside was that it was not walking distance from downtown. The owner was very friendly and very helpful.

"A very average evening meal"

07/03/2018

Whilst this was a convenient restaurant for an evening meal, it certainly was not the best meal we had during our New Zealand trip. Apart for two other guests and staff - there was no one there - no atmosphere' Staff looked bored

"Disappointing"

05/03/2018

We only spent one night here. The lady at reception was friendly and helpful. Our unit was spacious, clean and tidy and there was a spa pool outside in a private courtyard. There was no air conditioner, only a portable fan, which was not adequate to cool the unit, especially at night. There were no stays on the windows, so we did not feel comfortable leaving the windows open.

Located in a quiet, almost residential area, but adjacent to main highway and easy driving access to everything you want to see. Helpful office staff. Rooms are basic, but comfortable and clean. Lovely brook on one side of the property, and activities for kids/families. The big plus is the on-site restaurant that offers excellent meals by a talented chef. You can even arrange for the restaurant to bring breakfast to your room, which we did and it was hot and tasty.

"Excellent find, loved this hotel"

25/02/2018

This hotel was perfect. We got three staterooms and the staff were very helpful. It's location is excellent and right across the street from the Skyline Luges which were very fun. We enjoyed Rainbow Springs as well one evening. The rooms were comfortable and all of ours had kitchens and private hot tubs. We made use of the hotel's restaurant one evening too. The waitress was very kind and took our special requests. The breakfast menu was also excellent and we enjoyed breakfast every morning in the room. The price was great for the service and condition of the hotel. I would love to stay again.

"Great location, great comfort"

11/02/2018

We wanted somewhere quiet and convenient to get to for a decent night sleep after a long day on the road. This was the business. On the outskirts of the town but close enough to reach. The rooms were ample, clean and well equipped. You can park your car outside the room too.

28/01/2018

We booked a two bedroomed apartment, it had everything you would need. Variety of teas and coffee hot chocolate all supplied and topped up daily given a small bottle of milk on booking in and just ask at reception if needed anymore. A well stocked kitchen microwave, oven, tea towels and washing up liguid all ready for use. Very comfortable beds queen and twin room draw and hanging space. Shower in bathroom with toiletries supplied and fluffy white towels. Dining table and bed settee and arm chair in living area. Nice little seating area outside with chairs and table also a hot tub for personal use. You can order breakfast for delivery to your room next morning wide choice has to be ordered by 9 pm the previous evening. Swimming pool and comunal hot tub on site and a play area for children. Lovely restaurant on site with fabulous food very well cooked and presented . Wines and beers available. On arrival asked about places to eat near by was told of places in town and the onsite restaurant they were about to close but stayed open for us. A very welcoming hotel and very pleasant staff and very helpful. Would definitely stay again. Over road from hotel there is a cable car up to winery and restaurant left car at hotel and walked over, excellent views from cable car also from the top restaurant very busy could not get table for 2 hours to long to wait would recommend booking .

"Basic plus more"

20/01/2018

We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit. The staff were very friendly. 1 bedroom had queen bed and 2nd room a queen and single. Beds were very soft. The back garden had a jacuzzi which was a nice touch for a rainy day that we experienced. The hotel had a 9 hope mini golf course which was a nice touch. Location was great - right opposite Skyline. The only negative is that there were no fly screens so small aphids (bugs) were everywhere. Harmless but not a great sight.

"Surprising value, great units and amenities"

5
20/01/2018

The property is conveniently located but a car is needed to get around Rotorua. The room was spacious and included a kitchen and a patio outside with a private hot tub (this was not even expected). We like to self-cater breakfast and this was very convenient. The patio overlooked a small stream and woods. The hot tub was very clean and hot water plentiful. The property also has coin laundry, which we used after being on the road for a while. There was also mini-golf which we did not use. We stayed in a number of places in a two week stay in NZ and this was the best value and nicest room by far.

"Loved it"

5
17/01/2018

Stayed in the executive suite with two floors and three beds, plus the kitchen and two bathrooms. Really really liked it and happy with both the accomodation, the amenities and also the helpful friendly staff. Special mention to Tania who helped us to work out what trips and tours to do. Really good room and upstairs space. Good power in the shower. Downstairs has sky tv with 50 channels and a kitchen with a two ring job, microwave, toaster and fridge. Could do with a large pan for cooking but after buying a $10 one from countdown we ate in two nights and were happy with the utensils provided. Good laundry and played the mini golf also. If we come back we are staying here and will look st other BW from now in as a result.

"Location is key"

4
16/01/2018

Stayed here for a couple of nights in October. Location is literally a 3-minute walk to Skyline Rotorua. It is very close to a chain of restaurants and a supermarket.. 50-minute drive to the Hobbiton Movie set. Room is reasonably good for 2 people. It is clean and has the basics - coffee, tea, milk, free wifi, Sky TV, etc. Parking is also included. On our first night however we found it a bit hard to sleep. The walls are thin and we could hear the family booked in the room beside us. The second night was a lot more quiet :) We stayed in room #1 which is next to the reception.

"Perfect for families"

5
09/01/2018

We normally stay at high end hotels, but this was a family favorite. The staff was so kind and helpful. The room was big and clean. They had so much for the kids. All that and very reasonably priced. This is a great place to stay!

"Great place to stay"

4
14/12/2017

We traveled as two adults one child, had a great rood right next to the pool and the spa which was fantastic as we just had to slip through our back gate and we were in. Room service was great. Good location as Sky City was generally right across the road as well as other attractions close by. Everything was fantastic including the food except we found long hair in our food, not once but twice...hmmm I know it can happen sometimes but twice in two days is a little worrying, and both mornings our poached eggs were hard. Maybe the chef needs to tie her hair back a bit more carefully. Will definitely come here again though.

"Great stay"

08/12/2017

We only stayed for one night and wished we had longer. Our 2 bed room apartment had a privat outdoor jacuzzi right behind a relaxing creek. The front desk was very nice and helpful and the property as well as the Appartement was clean and had everything we needed.

"The Bestest Place"

Excellent Service, Friendly Staff. I would recommend all my friends and family to stay. The service in the restaurant was wonderful and the food was excellent and Delicious. Prices for food is affordable as well.

"The best! "

13/11/2017

We have just left after spending 9 nights at Best Western Braeside Rotorua. This place is amazing and felt like we were at home the moment we stepped inside our apartment. We had a 2 bedroom with kitchen and our own private spa which our two girls loved! The rooms are clean and tidy and plenty of space for the 4 of us. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Also onsite a pool, BBQ, restaurant, putt putt and a trout stream (which we loved waking up too every morning) The best part about this motel though, is Tira. She is an absolute gem! She made us feel welcome straight away, took time out of her day to have a chat and asked us how our day was every day! Such a kind and respectful woman, definitely do not let her go! We definitely know where we will be staying next time we visit, thank-you again for everything! ??

"Intimate property, great service, nice rooms"

5
13/11/2017

The front desk management was great and helpful after a long drive from Auckland on the other side of the road than we were used to. Decent room service to but don't forget the condiments with the sliders.

"Great Vacation"

5
11/11/2017

The hotel staff went out of their way to accommodate us with last minute shuffling of our plans. Enjoyment of our time there was definitely the main concern of the staff. The rooms were great and the hotel grounds were very "cute" as my wife said. Also, the internet worked great.

"Private outdoor spa was perfect, even in pouring rain."

5
09/11/2017

We LOVED our private outdoor spa! It had a sweet view but was still covered by a roof, because it poured rain our entire 3 days in Rotorua. Room was just fine but with the private spa this motel was an amazling value. Walked to Rainbow Springs and saw kiwi birds and more. Highly recommend! Set back from main road so no traffic noise. We did have noise from a water heater outside our window. Clean room and spa you fill yourself so you know it's fresh. Decor and furnishing could use a little update but for the price this was unbeatable.

"Pleasant place to stay"

4
04/11/2017

Clean, well-maintained, and generally a pleasant enough place to stay. It's right across the road from Skyline which has restaurants, cafes, shops and entertainment centre so location is not bad either.

"No exaggeration Best restaurant "

5
02/11/2017

The receptionist told me they had the best Chef in their restaurant and this was no exaggeration. The restaurant host was great too and made this single diner feel right at home. My dinner was superb thank you. My room was tidy and clean and I enjoyed a hot tub and slept like a baby. Parking was easy and close to room and no traffic noise.

"Nice accommodations"

28/10/2017

My husband and I are traveling in New Zealand. Our room here has a kitchenette. The room was clean and spacious. The room has a small balcony with a hot tub that overlooks a trout stream. This was a great place to stay.

"Position suited our weekend activity"

23/10/2017

Stayed for just one night on business and the team at Braeside never disappoint. Friendly and happy to have a chat at reception. Dinner at the restaurant was fantastic, Mary-ann always has a tasty special on which should never be passed by. Hope to stay with you guys again soon!

"A great place"

30/09/2017

An excellent accommodation facility in Rotorua. Clean and comfortable rooms ideal for families. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with a queen bed in one room and two singles in the other. The kitchen is well equipped and quite well stocked. The location is good, directly opposite the skyline park you can easily walk to. The resort has good things for kids like a pool and hot tub, mini golf and trampoline. About 5 mins in to town. We didn't eat here because it is expensive like most of New Zealand. I found Rotorua challenging to book decent and affordable accommodation for a family but this place hit the mark well.

"Almost like being at home!"

4
26/09/2017

I wish we'd had the time to stay here longer. How many Best Westerns deliver breakfast to your room? The property itself is well-maintained and adjacent to a beautiful little stream loaded with trout. The games room is a bit tired looking and, unfortunately, the weather didn't allow us to enjoy the miniature golf course on the property. But the room was well-appointed with adequate amenities. The property is also across the street from our favorite luge run and restaurant in Rotorua. It's also very near the Zorb run and just a couple miles from downtown Rotorua and the lakefront district. It's directly off the main highway hence, easy to find. The staff were especially friendly (typical for New Zealand) and helpful. We'd definitely stay here again.

"Good accomodation for family"

5
20/09/2017

The property has outdoor heated pool and a hot pool, it also has mini golf and table tennis. Our kids really enjoyed playing the mini golf and spend time at the heated pool. Location wise, it close to some of the Rotorua famous attractions/activities, fast food restaurants and supermarket.

"Back for more tranquility"

5
06/09/2017

My wife and I and our dog Paddy just keep going back for further indulgence in this clean ,central and tranquil environment. The weather was foul but that did not deter us relaxing in their large spa bath attached to our unit. The beds are comfy with everything you need. Close to all amenities and attractions and close to walking and cycling tracks. The staff are ever friendly and helpful. They are also amazingly honest. i left my favourite memory foam pillow 5 months ago and it was waiting for me in the store room.I had a call within half an hour of leaving on our last visit to say I had left it. One rarely finds this level of honesty and friendliness in the competitive environment we live in today. We will be back

"Wonderful stay in a spa unit!!"

5
05/09/2017

What a great stay for our family! Right across the road from the luge! We had a nice spa on the back deck just for us and a neat and tidy kitchenette with plenty of tea and coffee to keep us going!! On arrival our hot electric blanket didn't work, one phone call and they came to room to change it for a brand new one. The young house keeping girl was very sweet and polite. Great place to stay, would definitely stay again! Can't wait!

"Old fashioned Motel with charm and class"

5
15/08/2017

The BEST WESTERN Braeside in Rotorua, New Zealand, is a "sleeper." An old fashioned motel with charm and class, this place is a must when visiting the area. Across the road from the gondola, it is 2km from CBD and the various attractions. Park at your front door, enjoy gourmet food in the small restaurant, your room is a "studio apartment", on property laundry, pool, and morning serenade by birds.

"Pleasant stay"

4
13/08/2017

The place was really neat and tidy. Loved the layout of the rooms - however the extra linen on the linen cabinet smelled musty. We didn't get to use the private spa – but that was a lovely touch. And it didn't hurt that we were beside a cute stream plus close to all the great places that Rotorua has to offer. Other than the musty linen - we had a very good experience. Would stay again!

"Perfect small wedding venue"

5
11/08/2017

We had the pleasure of staying with all our families ( 70 ) for our wedding 2 weeks ago, we booked out the whole complex for the Sat night and used the Restaurant / Conference rooms for Our wedding. It was perfect... the Venue for our wedding the Fantastic food and the overall friendliness of everyone made this Just perfect for us.... Many thanks to Karen, Maryann and Keith for making our special Day wonderful.... and hassle free.... We will be back for another family group get together one day....

"Clean, comfortable motel a little out of town"

4
09/08/2017

We spent 2 nights here with our daughter staying in a studio and my husband and myself in a 1 bedroom unit. The accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable with everything we needed and included a fully equipped kitchenette. Our 1 bed unit also had a private, outdoor spa and an extra tv in the bedroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The shower was excellent and the bathroom had a heated towel rail but there were no hooks or space to put personal items (we found this to be the same in most NZ motels). The bed in our unit was just ok as the mattress sagged and had probably reached it's use by date. The motel is in a quiet, suburban location but there are major shops and facilities five minutes drive away. The receptionist told us how to get to get to the local fish and chip shop so we could try genuine "fush and chips" instead of the usual international take away foods.

"Best Western"

5
19/07/2017

We loved our stay. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. We slept well! The grounds are lovely and our son enjoyed the kids' playground, mini golf, trampoline and table tennis. The hotel is across the road from Rainbow Springs and the gondola- a couple of kids favorites.

"Comfy and facilities"

4
16/07/2017

I thought that the room was nice but not flash, the amount of facilities such as mini golf, pool, games room and playground was excellent as it gave us a lot to do just at the hotel. A problem we found with the mini golf course was that it was on an angle and would need to be updated but was still very fun. I also very much like the stream that travels across because it is very nice and makes it seem like a nice idea for the motel. Overall my room was nice, clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this motel for friends and larger families.

"Comfy 2 night stay"

5
15/07/2017

Friendly and welcoming place. The staff had turned the heater on for us as its winter. Was great being able to park in front of our room. The unit was clean and very comfortable. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting rotorua.

This is my 3rd year we have been comming here and i will be back next year as well. On site restaurant is tops , the food was xcellent as usual and the floor manager Keith ran the dinning room with great flare a great big thank you for making stay great plesure as always cheers toyou all .

"Comfy 2 night stay"

08/07/2017

We have always found the Best Western Braeside Rotorua to be a comfortable, quiet and relaxing place to stay. Rooms are clean and tidy with kitchen facilities. There is a trout stream nearby with mini golf and table tennis facilities close by. Also a playground for kids. Just a little over 5 minutes from the town centre and less to some of the local attractions, makes this an ideal stop over. The spa we didn't use this time, as the breeze a tad cold! The staff are friendly and helpful with advise about activities to do. Thank you again, for a lovely stay.

"A really nice place to stay and handy to most attractions"

4
05/07/2017

A very friendly and welcoming place. We arrived about 8.30pm and as it's winter the staff had turned on the heaters for us in our room. The room was well equipped and very clean. A kids playground, mini golf and a trout stream. Would recommend this place for families. Really close to major attractions and great value to stay at.

"I wish we had stayed longer!"

5
02/07/2017

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We only stayed one night (in the executive spa room) but we had such an amazing experience. The place was well equipped, clean and had a private spa bath on a deck overlooking a little stream.

"Lovely relaxed 3 night stay"

5
01/07/2017

This motel is a great find. It has plenty to do if staying with children and our rooms were a good size with plenty of kitchen facilities. We were very warm (when it was chilly outside) and the staff were so pleasant and helpful especially considering our late arrival. We didn't play the on site free mini golf but saw others having fun and we did have a few hits of table tennis. There were high quality attractions across the road although downtown Rotorua, and shopping facilities were a short drive away. We would definitely stay here next visit and will recommend it to all.

"clean and tidy pet friendly hotel"

5
24/06/2017

was pleasantly surprised with how nice the room was considering its pet friendly, has everything you need, the only thing that could be improved is for small dogs the netting from under the fence around the spa pool had come away, so our dogs were small enough to get underneath, in saying that they cant get far as we were in a area that fenced the 4 back units in, just something to note if you don't have dogs that are friendly with other dogs, as it is a shared area. very pleasant stay and would stay again

"An excellent motel Well located"

5
16/06/2017

Stayed here for one nights. The motel is excellent, very clean and well equipped. Nothing is too much trouble, if in Rotoroa would definitely stay here again. Thank you very much for making our stay so enjoyable. Stayed: 15 May 2017, traveled with family

"Value for Money"

4
14/06/2017

I would recommend this to families or small groups who want to stay together in one big space. We paid a decent rate for a spacious 3 bedroom unit complete with living room and kitchenette. Added perk was that our room had an outdoor jacuzzi unit (but which we didn't get to try due to our tight schedule). Location wise, this motel is tucked in a quiet neighborhood. It takes a bit of driving from the downtown area so buy your groceries ahead if you intend to use the kitchenette.

"Our stay at Braeside Rotorua"

5
12/06/2017

We were very impressed with the presentation of the outlook at Braeside. Our Suite was impressive, clean modern and upto date. We enjoyed our stay, and found the heated pool and spas just devine and the trout stream out the back was surreal. We chose to eat out and not use the inhouse restaurant however we are keen to try when we come back again. Only downfall was the beds mattress way too soft gave no support to the body.

"Awesome Hospitality and Gorgeous Property"

5
07/06/2017

Hi Kitty, thanks a million for the warm welcome last night. The room was perfect and had all the bells and whistles. Your pet friendly welcome is great, and Raffles enjoyed the visit. Room 10 out if 10, food from your restaurant Brook's was fabulous. I cannot recommend this property enough. Go see and enjoy, and its wonderful the owners take such pride and care of this perfect place. Thanks again for everything kindest regards Susie

"Nice room after we upgraded"

5
23/05/2017

We booked for three nights and they put us in a tiny, dark room the first night. We complained, that was all they had available and they promised to move us the next day. At a premium of $20/day we moved to a fabulous 3BR/2BA apartment style room. The staff was very nice. There is a cute practice in NZ of offering you a small bottle of milk each evening for your tea/coffee in the morning. I loved it as I hate that powdered stuff and many nights we did not have time to go to a store before turning in. Good location. Strong wifi.all room have private outside hot tubs.

"Fabulous room, great service"

5
14/05/2017

I wish we had been staying longer! The location was perfect. Super close to the Skyline venue and Rainbow Springs. Our 2 bedroom unit was fantastic. It was made up of two separate rooms joined seamlessly by a doorway between. A novelty for kids to have their own bathroom and kitchen. Grounds were lovely, staff were friendly. Great communication prior to arrival about restaurant being unavailable during our stay. We will most definitely return in summer.

Spent one night here and enjoyed the convenience of having all ammenities for cooking. Friendly helpful staff, free wifi and close to the skyline and rainbow springs parks. 5 mins drive to town centre. Would rate 5 if there was a better heating system. Just a little space heater in the room. Other than that it's great place to stay.

"Comfortable stay"

01/05/2017

We had a studio room for a one night stay in Rotorua. We received a warm welcome. The studio was comfortable with a well equipped kitchen area, sectioned off from the sleeping area and we had a large bathroom. There are nice grounds and an on site restaurant. The motel is on the edge of town, but it is just a five minute drive into the centre. There is a large supermarket nearby.

"Last 2 Nights in Rotorua"

30/04/2017

Due to activity in the area, we were only able to book two nights at this location. The staff is excellent, very friendly and welcoming. We were able to check-in a little earlier than expected which was very nice as we were tired and wanted to get some rest. We were placed in a unit overlooking the stream. Very nice grounds, well kept and although next to the road, it was very quiet. The room was nice with one king and one twin bed, the beds were very firm. The kitchenette was nice and the bathroom was large. There is no heating or air conditioning. There is a small space heater in the room along with an oscillating fan. But really didn't need either as the weather at the time was excellent! Location is convenient right across from SkyLine. Breakfast was brought to the room right on time each morning. We had a very nice time and would recommend it to anyone. It is a drive from the lake and other tourist areas around Rotorua.

"Beautiful Grounds, Quiet Area"

29/04/2017

We stayed for two nights, 2/28 & 3/1 and had a wonderful stay. The 2-bedroom unit was clean, well-appointed bathroom and kitchen and spacious living room. Our bedroom had a queen bed which took up most of the room but there was sufficient room for clothes and suitcases. We were greeted with warmth and given good suggestions and directions. The grounds were beautiful and the location was quiet. Make time to take a short stroll around the grounds. Be sure to order the breakfast the night before (there is a meal charge). It was delightful to be able to have breakfast brought to our room so we could save the time and hassle of finding a place to eat on the way out of town. This is a definite find and a place I would stay again.

"Your basic Motel but with extras"

4
11/04/2017

Pretty much your basic Motel but the bathroom was huge, the grounds were very nicely maintained, nice little kitchenette in the room. Breakfast served to your room for a small fee and it is a pretty good breakfast. The biggest plus is the on site restaurant, the food was excellent! I had the Lamb Rump special and it was outstanding! Very pleasant surprise! For the price you can't go wrong!

"5 nights in Rotorua"

11/04/2017

The room and amenities were great. The staff (from the groundsmen to the receptionists to the cleaners) and their service even better. The Restaurant is also definitely worth trying. Great location for accessing Skyline etc. Looking forward to returning soon.

"Best Western is a good average hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful."

10/04/2017

We had a room, with a separate bedroom. in the bedroom were two queen-sized beds, but not much room to get around the beds. If we had been with more people than just us, it could have been quite cramped. We felt it was not the best of value at the price we paid, as breakfast was not included. The staff was very helpful, however, when the fridge had a problem, so that made up for it. The bed was comfortable, too.

"Great over night stay"

09/04/2017

Stayed here for just one night as were going to the local Maori experience and it fitted in with our plans. Firstly, what a fantastic and most friendly welcome from Karen on the front desk. Made us laugh and feel oh so welcome following a long drive that day. The room was spotless, well kitted out for everything and the shower was lovely and powerful to wash away the grim of the drive! Bed was very comfortable and plenty of space for clothes and other things. You need to pre-order your breakfast the night before, before 9pm and it is then delivered to your room at the time you specify. It was a very nice breakfast as well and delivered on time. Would definitely stay again.

The location is close to the city center and is very convenient! The rooms were excellent (clean and spacious) and were very well maintained. The services was very accommodating and helped plan our stay in Rotorua! I would definitely stay here again.

27/11/2016

We are never disappointed in what has now become a regular away weekend place for us. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The rooms are comfortably furnished and basics for self catering are on hand.. Amenities are close by and a major grocery store and take away facilities within a few blocks.

"clean, comfortable and lots to do"

27/11/2016

We only stayed for one night but would happily return for longer next time. Rooms were very big and clean- we had 2 lovely big bathrooms a main kitchen and a kitchenette area. Lovely spa pool as well. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Staff were lovely and helpful. Great place :)

"Fantastic Motel in Rotorua"

5
19/11/2016

This was an absolutely lovely motel to stay in. It was extremely clean, and the staff were lovely. Only critique would be there are more dishes/cutlery needed in each room. But overall fantastic. A++.

"Nice and clean"

17/11/2016

My room at this motel incorporated the best use of space that I've ever seen. The staff was amazingly helpful -- well above and beyond the call of duty. Also, everything was spotless. I highly recommend these accommodations.

"Quiet"

10/11/2016

I came here with my mum and we stayed for one night and it was lovely and quiet. It was very handy to the luge (which we didn't have time to go to), the room we got had every thing we needed and it was clean and tidy. I would come back again.

"Beautifully Scenic"

5
07/11/2016

Initial impression was the Braeside seemed compact. It was so scenic with so much to take in. Room was beautiful, spacious, perfectly clean with lovely furniture and set up. View from opening the front door was of a native bush walk out the back window with a flowing trout stream. A fantail quickly visited. Reception was very welcoming and helpful. Can't wait to come back for a full holiday. Already planning it.

"Very friendly and helpful staff"

04/11/2016

Had to book a room for 3 at short notice. Booking was easy: checkin was efficient; staff at checkin could not be more helpful. Needed to extend stay at even shorter notice on a weekend. Staff were again helpful. We weren't able to keep the original room, which was understandable. First room was awesome. Bed was so comfortable. The room was specious. The second room wasn't as good, by we had been told that prior to booking. Both rooms were spotlessly clean. Having stayed in a few NZ motels, this one certainly met with international standards. Would stay again.

"Wonderful property, Would Definitely stay again!"

03/11/2016

Stayed for 2 nights which were great! Our unit had our own park, 2 double beds (which I loved), nice and clean and fresh, great bathroom, kitchen and living area, Free WIFI, and great TV. For $2 we did a load of washing which was easy and simple, they had Put-Put, a room with table tennis which was great fun. The location was great, right across from the Luge, just 1 minute down the road is Countdown and only 5-10 minutes to the main Town Centre. Myself and my parents had a great stay here and really enjoyed it. The Staff are lovely and vibrant which is always great too see! I would definitely stay here again!

"Returned and stayed again."

29/10/2016

Chose this motel for our honeymoon. We booked early and got the honeymoon suite. On our annerversary we returned. Lovely well presented room. Enjoyed the outdoor spa over looking the trout stream. Comfortable relaxing, walking distance to gondolas and other top class venues. Thank you for a wonderful 2nd honey moon

"Enjoyable stay"

5
28/10/2016

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The kitchenette fully equipped. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows not so much. The bathroom was not very big, but clean. The shower was good. All rooms are ground level and the car can be parked in front of your room, which makes it very convenient. The hotel is a very good choice for guests with a car. It is close to city center by car and also very easy to get in an out of town.

"Hidden gem!"

25/10/2016

I'm from the U.S. originally - been in NZ two years now - and let me tell you, when you think of Best Western, you generally think "pretty average". This little property was probably the accommodation highlight of my 10 day North Island roadtrip. First of all, when we checked in on Sunday evening, the woman behind the desk was so friendly and helpful...she really seemed glad to see us. Then we went to our room and wow! The lounge and dining area was so cozy! We weren't too keen on venturing out to find somewhere to eat, so after getting settled, I nipped five minutes down the road and back to get some fresh as fish and chips and we settled in for the night to rest our road-weary bodies. But lo, the best part lay in store for bedtime because THOSE BEDS. Those beds were amazing. I want to know where they get them from because I'd like to order one for my own home! That's how comfortable they were! In the morning, we enjoyed the great shower and lingered over coffee and breakfast at our leisure in our room before setting out for the day's adventures. Seriously, this was just a fantastic property and if I ever decide to take a long weekend to Rotorua, I am definitely booking here again.

"Very comfortable and welcoming"

22/10/2016

We stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom unit and really enjoyed it. The price of the unit was very reasonable and there was plenty of space and everything we needed. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff - Karen during the booking process and Kira who was on reception when we arrived. Both of them are a huge asset to the hotel. Another gem was the restaurant. We only ate there 1 night unfortunately but the food was delicious and I'd highly recommend it.

"Great place to stay"

20/10/2016

Really nice motel, with well-looked after units. Rooms were cosy and fully equipped with everything we needed. The lady in the reception was absolutely lovely - friendly and helpful. The grounds were great too - had a nice stream running through. And was close to attractions (like Kiwi Encounter). Will definitely stay here again next time we're in Rotorua!

"Great stay"

5
19/10/2016

The room was simple but had everything we needed; electric blankets, heaters, kitchenette, pots, pans, etc. The lady at the reception was very welcoming and friendly. There's also a beautiful little stream and a garden in the compound.

"Be back for sure"

Thanks Karen and the team Our weekend away was truly awesome Lovely unit clean warm tidy and best of all our beloved wee dog could come Lovely friendly staff great complex that has everything even a wonderful restaurant It truly was hard to go home But we will be back Thanks so much xx

"Brilliant location"

11/10/2016

On initial arrival the receptionist was very friendly and helpful and clued us in to the local sights and shops to see. The facilities were very good - with the outdoor spa being nice and warm despite the cold outside. Room was neat and had everything necessary but did have a bit of a smell at first. Location was good as it was away from the sulfer smell and a 1 minute drive to wildlife parks, gondola and M?ori village.

"Fantastic location, beautiful setting "

08/10/2016

My daughter and I had a spa room for a long girl's weekend together. The spa pool was fantastic, nice and private on our little verandah, with just trees and the sound of the stream below, and the birds singing. Soooo relaxing. And didn't take long to fill at all. The beds were great, and the decor very modern. Very conveniently located within 5mins drive of all the adventure activities we wanted to do (and literally across the road from the luge). When we stayed it was cold and raining but the electric heater did a good job of heating the room.

"Home away from home"

03/10/2016

I booked for my Four Adult Children and I, two rooms for five nights, I did this online. When we arrived one of the rooms was different from what I had booked and also the two rooms were not together they were on opposite ends of the complex, which made it a bit difficult to commune. Even though the rooms were clean and serviced every day, I felt that the place was a little run down and needed some tidy up. The toilet roll holder was a bit rusty and was wobbly, plus the insult of 1 ply toilet paper. The kitchenette facilities was basic and in the end I went out and bought a sharp knife to cut food.Overall it was alright. Probably wouldn't stay again. Although the staff were very friendly so can't fault that.

"Best Family Accommodation in Rotorua"

5
01/10/2016

Location, location right opposite skyline gondolas and Rainbow Springs. Can't fault this motor inn. We stayed in unit 21 with 1 twin bed and 1 single with spa pool on deck overlooking the spring with trout and birdlife, flora and fauna around. Mini putt golf on site as well as table tennis, exercise bike, heated pool and spa, playground for young ones, sandpit, volleyball and a restaurant. Something for everyone. Breakfast fantastic pancakes. Staff obliging. We were next to 2 roads no road noise for us. Parking good inside grounds. Units clean with all you need. Good shower and bed. Great presentation. We will be back. Can't wait.

"Great place to stay if visiting Rotorua."

30/09/2016

Firstly I feel that one should refer to this facility as a Motel rather than a Hotel as previously referred to by other contributors. The facility does have a very good restaurant for evening meals only and will deliver breakfasts to your room. However the rooms are more of a Motel type and have the usual kitchen facilities. The staff at reception and in the restaurant really are most helpful and are always cheerful and friendly. With regard to the rooms the beds are very comfortable, good wifi and plenty of sky channels available. My only small criticism would be with regard to the fact that there was no shelf space for clothes etc in the room we were in which necessitated leaving folded clothes in the suitcase.Small item perhaps but a bit of an inconvenience. Finally bathroom not great as it has one of those curtains that is out to get you !!!!!

"Best Western Braeside"

29/09/2016

Excellent service by all staff and very close to quite a few attractions. Very easy to find with parking right outside your room. Very clean and tidy appearance in and outside the room. Breakfast was prompt in the time frame we had indicated. reception staff very helpful with directions and what to see and do although we only stayed overnight. Quite roomy with great facilities.

"Very comfy"

29/09/2016

First visit to braeside- Karen at reception is a gem, bubbly and friendly. Stayed in room 10 with family, lots of space, spa and stream just outside. Teenagers played mini golf, and it was just down the road from skyline. Room was spotless and serviced daily. Definately would recommend.

"Beautiful surroundings"

23/09/2016

We recently stayed 4 nights at this hotel. We arrived in the dark so had no idea until we woke up the first morning just how beautiful our view was outside the kitchen window....we stayed in room 12.....very comfortable King-sized bed in a separate room and a very spacious living area which included a Murphy bed...I believe as we did not require it we did not open it.... Kitchenette was well-equipped. There was an outdoor hottub but because of the cool and rainy weather we never actually tried it..what a shame...a 3 minute walk to Skyline Rotorua..we lucked out and went the first full day we were there when we had some decent weather...Karen at reception was so friendly and helpful when we asked about some hidden treasures around Rotorua....we walked Hamurana Springs which was by far my favorite walk of all times...we also visited Okere falls, Blue Lake and Lake Okareka walkway where there were loads of bird watching opportunities....back to the hotel...what a great way to enjoy the morning as you see ducks swimming by the trout stream as you sip your coffee....would definite.y stay there again..need to try out the min golf and the hot tub next time....no sulphur smell...far enough from town to feel like you are in a secluded resort yet very close by car to get to shopping and restaurants...

"Worth revisit again, great for family"

14/09/2016

our second stay at the resort, Very neat and comfortable beds, Great for family. Private clean spa. Gem really, just minute walk to Rotorua Skyline Gondola and to Rainbow Springs. no sulphur odour, the resort seems so secluded from the town, peace surrounding. Kids loved the Game room with table tennis and also Trout stream, we were lucky to see few trouts, also mini Golf. We took our time to enjoy the scenery behind the rooms. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone

12/09/2016

l'm not too sure about the normal rooms but they upgraded us to one of the cabins which overlooked a stream. This room was excellent with everything you would need which included a comfortable bed. There seems to be a fair bit to do at the park, although we didn't use any of it as the park was fairly close to the CBD.

"Great Family Resort"

5
17/08/2016

Stayed in a one bedroom unit, had everything you need for a short or longer stay, very clean and comfortable. Great place for families as there is lots for kids to do, even in the winter. The restaurant was lovely too, happy to cater to my daughter's preferences. Will be back again!

"Amazing"

5
16/08/2016

Booked for 2 nights on a mini trek around North Island. Only really wanted a place to get our heads down (2 adults, 2 teenaged boys) but got a whole lot more. Practically full kitchen facilities with some useful provisions (which helped with keeping the NZ costs down), a whole floor for the kids, 2 Bathrooms, Sky TV, a hot tub, a friendly ram in the back yard and brilliant staff. We didn't even use the restaurant or swimming pool. Really ticked all the boxes. Oh and Rotorua was good too!

"Nice place, well located"

5
31/07/2016

This place is on a short distance from the CBD and well located for Skyline and Rainbow Springs. Unit is very comfy and well equipted - kitchen is good plus. Heater was a bit noisy but ok. Our unit had a great outlook to the garden stream. Lots of common amenities heated pool, spas, mini golf, laundry etc. On site restaurant food is fantastic and highly recommend. When booking through Best Western to stay here just check that advertised Best Western specials are included for this specific resort. Would certainly stay here again.

"Always so nice to come to"

26/07/2016

We try to get there once a year and as per usual we were not let down. When we booked they actually remembered us from a previous time!! We made a mistake in our room choice and lucky for us they were not full up not and didn't mind us switching. THANK YOU! I find the owners and staff are so lovely to deal with and make us feel like it's a home away from home. They rooms have been remodeled and look nice. Can't wait to go back next year.

"Family trip away"

26/07/2016

Happy with price and accommodation. Only issue was that we booked for 2 adults and 1 child and then ended up taking another grandchild as well. Rung the Best Western 0800 no to see if we could have accommodation for an extra child which they said they had arranged. However when we arrived at the hotel they were not aware and were fully booked. However they did not charge us extra and said the kids could top and tail. Nice friendly people and clean and tidy room.

"Pluses and minuses"

4
18/07/2016

We stayed here with our young kids. The pluses were the spa facilities attached to our unit the on-site pool, play ground and fantastic restaurant. The location is just across the road from a few main attractions and the staff were very helpful. The minuses were that it was difficult to heat our two story unit. The convection heater was insufficient during the middle of winter also the fold out double bed whilst feeling comfortable wasn't great to sleep in with it being well used the indentation/caving in gave me a sore back. Fortunately the single beds upstairs were of better quality and could sleep in these. Would I return to this place? Yes. The pluses outweighed the minor annoyances

"Ticked All the Boxes"

5
17/07/2016

We stayed here as our main motivation was it was pet friendly and we have a small dog that loves her holidays too. We were impressed by the clean and well maintained facilities and the bonus of our own hot tub was great. Close to all the attractions but quiet and tranquil so you will get a good nights sleep. Highly recommend.

"Great for family and sights"

4
13/07/2016

Being at Best Western with a collection of family members including visitors from US helped us make the most of a brief time in Rotorua. All staff were friendly, responsive and efficient and made changes to our units to better accommodate us. The resort has plenty to keep children occupied, is quiet despite close access to main road, and meant we could walk to Rainbow Springs, Gondola and Luge. While we didn't use it, having a restaurant on site is also a nice option.

"Looking for a reason to return to Rotorua simply so I can stay here again!"

09/07/2016

Can't express how much I loved my stay here. I think my room number was 13 [?], it was perfectly positioned with parking directly at the door, close to the main office and with easy walking distance of the main entrance. Staff are quick to provide good local knowledge inclusive of an informative map of the area, the lovely warm smiles and friendly waves are an added bonus as you make your way around the lovely grounds or as you come and go. The Best Western is ideally located in easy walking distance to many of the main attractions, the area is flat and well foot pathed with plenty of traffic lights for safe crossing. Rooms are serviced to perfection every day, can't fault the quality tea, coffee and hot chocolate which is greatly appreciated on the chilly mornings and nights. Towels are replenished daily which is appreciated if you use the spa, and the excellent quality makes them a pure luxury experience. Bathroom is HUGE, well maintained and spotlessly clean. TV has good screen quality, good instructions are provided for using sky and the heat pump works well, this can be a little noisy but that is perhaps more to do with the positioning on the internal lounge / bedroom wall than the pump itself. Lounge suite is comfortable and inviting, kitchen table and chairs are perfect for planning the days adventures. Kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything you need for in room cooking and meals. The bed, linen and pillows are divine! Having an electric blanket with separate controls is an added bonus, well appointed power plugs for charging devices over night and a TV in the room makes late night movie watching a pleasure.

"Fantastic place to stay"

Fantastic place to stay, the studio was spacious. Helpful and friendly staff and the owner. Just a little hiccup in getting the baby bed arranged. But the owner, Kitty and her son came down to get the things sorted.

Great place to stay. Comfortable and dog friendly. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff have a smile which can be rare nowadays. For those who don't enjoy the sulphur smell of Rotorua the motel is close to the Gondolas and away from the nauseating stench.

"LOVED this place."

21/05/2016

We travelled up from Wellington, staying from place to place, and this was by far the best one to settle for a few days. Friendly owners, and great people at check-in. PLENTIFUL wi-fi (thank you), comfy beds, a private hot-tub, another spa and pool just outside. The laundry is easy to access and takes change. Bring your own soap. There is a grocery store up the road. We checked in, admired our patio, and then noticed we had wild kingdom in our backyard! Sheep, bunnies, birds! We didn't know this big guy's name, but we called him Gordon Ramsey. :) The trout stream was neat. We didn't get a chance to try the cafe, but the menu looked good. You are near enough downtown Rotorua to drive to some great shopping/restaurants in a hurry, but far enough that the sulfur smell isn't detectable. Try Zippy's for breakfast! It's a little tricky to park next to your room with a bigger vehicle (we had a RAV), but that's a small gripe. The gondola is directly across the street. Pick a night and sneak over to look for kiwis in the dark at Rainbow Springs! With a car, you aren't far from all the attractions, and you're in good shape to drive up to Matamata and Hobbiton. We chose wisely. Give the sheep a pet for us if you stay!

"Birthday stay "

Over for a friend's birthday then family time at skyline. Beautiful location with plenty of amenities for the kids. 50 channel sky tv and really comfortable beds. The rooms are immaculate and friendly service with ample parking. Close to skyline skyride (opposite in fact). Great value for money and good discount for PSA members.

"Best for the price"

08/05/2016

Might as well report on this motel whilst I am still here. Very impressed. Quick check in, we had room 21. Trout stream out the back with rippling water whilst you took a spa bath. Big room, big bathroom. Kitchenette. Fast free wifi. Big bed and a spare. Drove in from Auckland and first traffic lights turn left. Right opposite cable car up the mountain with loads of facilities and attractions. Short drive into town. Supermarket on same street. Sadly can only stay one night. Laundry. Breakfast 12 to 16 NZ to room. Restaurant on site. Table tennis and mini golf.

"Perfect Location"

5
08/05/2016

This beautiful motel is situated right around the main activities in Rotorua. Skyline is right opposite and lake is a 5-7 min walk. The rooms were very well maintained and a special mention goes out to the staff for being helpful. A small park inside the hotel is a treat for the kids and hot pools will help you beat the chilly weather. A big thumbs up :)

"Wonderful place, great people!"

08/05/2016

My family and I stayed in a one bedroom apartment and it was perfect. It was not cramped at all and it was very clean. The electric blankets were a cozy bonus! The wifi is reliable and there is parking for everyone. While we didn't use the amenities, they looked nice and there was plenty to keep you busy just at the little resort. The people who worked at reception were incredibly nice and altogether our stay was great!

"Handy location"

5
30/04/2016

Immaculately clean, handy location, but quiet. Walking distance to Skyline gondolas and luge, and Rainbow Springs. Plenty of facilities: children's playground, pool, spa pool on site. Loved the fallow deer over the back fence and the tuis and bellbirds in the trees. Plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the pretty gardens. Great meal in the restaurant. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

"Nice peaceful environment close to great Rotorua activities"

29/04/2016

Clean, comfortable and quiet units with free Wifi located near Rainbow Springs, Mini golf and Gondola/Luge. We booked a 2 bedroom unit and although slightly dated decor it is certainly welcoming and has everything you need for a short stay. We visited while weather was still reasonably warm but I would be concerned in winter as heating seemed basic and windows also seemed to swing open wider if only just opened slightly. Would certainly book again for future trips though as price and location could not be beaten in my opinion. Restaurant is also onsite.

We stayed in the 3brm apartment, family of 5 with 3 children. It was very clean and furnished lovely. The customer service was extremely friendly. The property is very well maintained and pleasantly laid out. Lots of options for the kids entertainment. The restaurant was 5 star, the food was amazing, compliments to the chef Mary and to our waiter who was very attentive and a lovely person. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to others.

"Fantastic!"

24/04/2016

We stayed in the 3bedroom unit. All are ground floor units so it was very quiet even though resort was fully booked both nights we were there and it was the school holidays. Lovely outdoor heated pool and spa which the kids loved.....we also had our own spa pool in a little shed(?) out the back of our unit. It is a self filling spa so you just turn on the tap as if you were filling a bath! Our spa was a bit small/cosy for the 4 of us but we all fitted in. The unit itself was absolutely perfect! Very clean, modern, spacious, warm ....had a bathroom plus ensuite, two tvs, good size fridge and kitchen and comfy beds. Location for luge/gondola and rainbow springs was excellent.....we didn't use our car the whole time we were there as we walked to our activities. And the lovely young gentleman who was on reception both days could not have been more polite or helpful and really helped make our stay lovely! Although the children's playground is for 10yr olds and under there is a 9hole mini golf course, indoor table tennis room and an outdoor badminton/volleyball net with all balls/rackets etc available from the reception. You cannot get bored here! Would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone!

This place is all you need for a weekend away. Clean and tidy. Good location, has a spa and pool, playground if you're travelling with kids. Only thing that went wrong was having to take a cold shower as our room did not have hot water on our last day of sta. Also wi-fi extremely slow and drops in & out, but for the price, I would stay here again.

bwbraeside, Owner at BEST WESTERN Braeside Resort, responded to this review
Hi, many thanks for your feedback. I am so sorry you had a cold shower and am wondering if you mentioned this to our management at your stay so that we could have checked the gas .Our hot water is by gas and sometimes takes a little bit of time to come through however unless the Cali font was faulty I am not sure why the water would be cold? WE are on the fastest wifi possible however sometimes the settings on some machines need to be looked at but apologies if you had problems with this, we do offer a 24 hour helpline so if this happens on your next visit please let us know and we will see if we can help. Thanks for staying with us. Kitty

Customer service is everything and this place has nailed it. When we arrived we were a little lost for where to eat or go out during the day and we didn't have a car so for the first couple of days the owners drove us to local places to get food and drink and they recommended loads of places for us to visit. We were welcomed to the place like family. Our accommodation had everything we could need, the view from the back balcony was beautiful - it overlooked a trout stream from the comfort of our private hot tub. If the owners ever come to England, look us up, we would love to return the favour!

"Relaxing (with spa bath!)"

We spent a night here, good base to explore Rotorua if you have a car (it's a long walk from the CBD, but very close to the luge/gondola, mini golf, supermarket down the road). The soda bath on the cabin balcony was so nice, fit 2 tall people well. Lovely little stream outside the cabin. Useful little kitchenette for microwave dinners. Room service breakfast was tasty & well made. Comfortable beds, on the softer side. Decent range of pay tv channels. Large enough room. Good water pressure in the shower. Clean and tidy. Helpful people at reception. Free mini golf on site, although it's home made which made for a hilariously slanted and inaccurate game!

hi , thanks for your review and glad you like our qurirky mingolf, I know many famalies come back each year to compete against each other. Also great you enjoyed the 55 free t.v channels. kitty

The hotel was in a great location, just a short drive into town. Our kitchenette room (it seemed to be the best located room we saw) was very comfortable with a small stream running behind it that we could enjoy while sitting on the deck off of our room. It was very private & peaceful!

bwbraeside, Owner at BEST WESTERN Braeside Resort, responded to this review
Hi thanks for staying with and so glad you enjoyed the setting, many people seem to enjoy the stream view rooms and the peace it offers, with many others also asking for the farm view so its great being able to offer the different room types .

Stayed in the hotel during easter break and it was good. The location was ideal and the hotel rooms were nice and clean. The staff at the reception were awesome and extremely helpful. Will stay again at the same place next time we visited Ratarua

Loved the throwback feeling we got from our stay at Braeside. Great value and perfect place to stay for getting into the start of our Kiwi vacation. Loved the private hot tub and the overall cleanliness of the place. Made our own breakfast using the kitchenette, and the beds were very comfortable.

20/03/2016

Stayed here for 2 nights with friends. Nicely appointed. Small pool with jacuzzi and hot tub. Mini golf and table tennis available. Lovely grounds with a trout stream, kiddies play area and a boules pitch. Room had lounge diner, 2 settees, table and 4 chairs, good kitchen with double hot plate. Microwave under worktop was a bit awkward to use. Big bathroom with wet room - no bath. Back door led to a private enclosed area containing a hot tub big enough for 2 or three people. Bedroom in a separate area. Table and chairs outside of front door for sitting out. Car required for trip to town. Supermarket close by though. Restaurant available on site. Very friendly reception. Highly recommended.

We have stayed here 4 times in the last 10 years and always find they deliver at a very high standard. Accomodation is large and clean, with everything you might need for your stay with very friendly staff. The pool, spa are keep clean and well kept. The resturant we have not used . The best location to some of Rotoruas top attractions.

Very clean, with everything a traveler needs. Great location. Surprisingly quiet. Grounds are meticulously maintained. Customer service and friendliness unmatched. Don't miss the excellent on site restaurant, The Brook, for dinner. Order breakfast delivery, too......prepared by the same chef who prepares the wonderful dinners. We will definitely stay here on a future visit.

Location was convenient coming from the north, just off the main road but we weren't troubled by road noise. Very happy with the room. Staff welcoming and continued to be helpful. Room clean and well equipped, we were happy to eat in our room although there is a restaurant on site. There is an invitation to wash your car - or dog(!) - with hosepipe.

We started by having dinner at the restaurant and the food was excellent! The man who served us was friendly, helpful and funny. The room came with a self filling spa and outside seating area in the garden. A short walk to the luge, mini golf and other attractions. The staff were really helpful and happy. We had a great time.

The property is just off of the main road. It has a small walking trail, a pool and a small pitch and put. The staff is friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and nicely equipped. The hotel is well located for enjoying attractions in and around Rotorua.

"Clean and comfortable"

18/01/2016

We were greeted quite warmly upon our arrival, even presented with a small bottle of fresh milk, 'for our tea', which we discovered was a thoughtful routine in other places visited in NZ. The hostess helped us determine the best activities for our family of four adults in the short amount of time we had and even offered discount passes. Our room was two stories with two bathrooms. Our son dragged his twin bed down to the living room and our daughter slept on a Murphy bed. Upon opening our rear deck sliders, we were greeted by a neighboring ram on the opposite side of the fence who was quite friendly, obviously a result of being fed by previous guests in the past! Later, a brightly colored pukeko entertained us as well! The rooms were clean and the kitchen offered us the chance to make a light breakfast with coffee in the morning. There was a nice little stream bordered by flowers to walk along and the location of the hotel was perfect: no noise at night, and near many attractions yet away from the sulphuric fumes of the geothermal activity.

"Very comfortable and enjoyable stay"

15/01/2016

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in unit 17. This was a magnificent spacious unit comprising a large lounge/kitchenette, two bedrooms - one with twin beds and the other with a queen bed - and a bathroom comprising a large step in shower, WC and wash basin. The lounge had a table, TV, sofa (which could be used as a bed), one easy chair and five padded dining table chairs. The kitchenette comprised a large fridge/freezer, microwave, a two ring hob and an oven. There appeared to be a missing oven light which should indicate when the oven reached the correct temperature. Six sets of plates, cups and cutlery were provided. Three saucepans, one frying pan, a chopping board, a coffee plunger and a kettle were also provided. Disappointingly, few cooking utensils and aids were provided. We particularly missed scissors, a small sharp knife, oven gloves, sieve or a slotted spoon. The server had a broken handle which kept coming off. There was plenty of coffee and tea provided. Also provided was washing up liquid, dish cloth and a small drying cloth which was replaced daily. There was plenty of storage space everywhere. Toiletries provided were soap and shampoo only. No shower gel. The bathroom had a heated towel rail. One aspect we disliked about the bathroom was that it had a sliding door and had no proper sealing with the door frame – there was a 5mm gap. The shower was powerful and a pleasure to use. The bathroom had two hooks for hanging towels but one of ours was broken. Although the lounge was spacious, the lighting was not good. There was a central light and a standard lamp but these did not provide sufficient light for easy reading. We found the light in the queen bedroom to be better for reading! The bedrooms each had a wardrobe and small cupboards. All beds had an electric blanket which was surprising at the height of summer. The queen bedroom also had a clock/radio and TV. Most of the windows had blinds and curtains. We used the hotel laundrette which comprised two washing machines and cost $2. Outside the laundrette was a drying line and pegs. We enjoyed using the mini golf and table tennis facilities at the hotel. We were very impressed with the beautiful gardens all over. We ate once in the attached restaurant, The Brook, which was excellent. We would have eaten there more times but for the limited menu. Wifi was free and quick without any connection problems. The hotel was very quiet. It was very easy to find and was ideally located for us, being near many major scenic locations. It is about 6km from Rotorua city centre where there was plenty of parking. There is an excellent Countdown supermarket 2km down the road from the hotel towards Rotorua where we bought our breakfast food and food for evening meals. All the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Putting right the very few criticisms would be easy and would make the hotel excellent.

"Wierd noises..."

07/01/2016

Comes night time and some annoying, creepy sounds are abound! From visitors doing their laundry at 11.30pm (unfortunately there's no door on laundry!) - to pipes that need bleed, and water dripping within walls onto hard plastic roof/floor, who knows ?! Don't stay near laundry!!

"Clean, excellent location and has it's own trout stream."

01/01/2016

Booked with Best Western because of the location; across the road from The Gondola, Luge and Rainbow Springs. Easy to find and we had a beautiful room with our own spa and the Stream with trout viewable from the room's balcony. Very reasonably priced, excellent service and VERY Clean. I was most impressed with the triple sheeting which meant I didn't have to have someone else's Doona/Duvet in my face when sleeping. (Triple sheeting is when you have the bottom sheet, top sheet and then another sheet over the doona/duvet and all three would be washed for each guest). I've stayed at numerous hotels and this one impressed me no end. I was with teenage girls who tried the hot pool at the accommodation but said it was too hot but managed a dip in the pool before returning to their own "private" spa on the balcony. Our room backed on to the stream with it's walkway so people do go past but if you close your curtains its still very private. Lovely service and look forward to staying their again next time I am visiting the Luge.

"Comfortable and convenient"

31/12/2015

The Best Western Braeside is conveniently located at the edge of town, they are right across from the Skyline Gondola and Rainbow Springs Kiwi and Wildlife Park. The rooms were clean and nicely sized with functional kitchenette. The bathroom and bathroom sink are petite but completely useable. Just 10 minutes from the main mall on the lake, just a few doors down from the Rotorua zip line eco tour and more. We had a pleasant stay in unit #2 and would recommend if motoring through for a night or two.

"Perfect New Years Eve Getaway!"

5
31/12/2015

Four of us, two couples stayed here at the Braeside Resort New Years Eve for just one night, it by far exceeded our expectations, everything from the Receptionist at check in, to the quality of our unit. We stayed in Unit 12 which had a bedroom with a queen sized bed, and a pull down closet bed in the main living area. The fact that we had our own private spa in our room was amazing! The place was super clean and tidy, we had everything we needed. The value for money was definitely worth it, we enjoyed everything about our stay. Whether your a couple, or a family Braeside is perfect. We played a little game of mini golf in the morning and went for a nice swim in the pool area. Overall great stay, great quality, great service, great New Years! We will definitely be back again soon!

"Ideal for short stopover"

5
20/12/2015

We stayed for one night so that we could visit the area on our tour of New Zealand. The room was excellent and well equipped , and we enjoyed our stay. We visited the gardens by the stream running through the property before leaving, well worth a short walk!

"25th wedding anniversary trip"

14/12/2015

After arriving from Australia, we were pleasantly surprised with the Braeside Resort in Rotarua. The grounds were immaculate, with our room no.21 (which included an outdoor 3 person spa) very neat, tidy and comfortable. It was also perfectly positioned close to the crystal clear trout stream which runs through the property. The lady on reception was very helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be staying here next time we travel to Rotarua.

"Christmas Dinning"

4
12/12/2015

A group of us were dinning at the The Stratosfare Rotorua which is at the top of the Gondolas a short walk from The Best Western. This was one of the main reasons for choosing this motel as there was no need to worry about drinking to much or a taxi ride. We found the motel to be in a quite location, older style buildings but nicely presented, with nice park like surroundings. In our unit the only fault I could find was the lack of shelving especially in the bathroom.

"Great venue close to attractions"

5
10/12/2015

best place we stayed in New Zealand, just on the edge of town so there was little to no smell, close to every thing, the owners and staff are lovely. Really took the time to recommend the attractions. This will be the place that we stay next time we are in Rotoura. Also Free WiFi WooHoo

"Better that in the pictures in the internet"

09/12/2015

First time that i went to a place that is prettier in reality than the pictures in the internet. The room was very comfortable, spacious and clean as a wistle. It was a very warm and wellcoming room. The bed was a dream. It is a little far from the city center but it really didn't bother us.

The manager should work in tourism, she was amazingly helpful with tour ideas and bookings. The motel was immaculate with lots of happy flower gardens. Had the best salmon ever in the restaurant. Everyone was so friendly. Laundry facilities were also much appreciated.

"A sanctuary to relax, destress and recharge"

5
16/11/2015

We have stayed here on numerous occasions and have always found the staff courteous, friendly and helpful. The facilities are well furnished and the gardens are well kept with stream walks meandering around the property. The facility is also dog friendly (small to medium dogs) with a park within walking distance.

"Tranquil, peaceful and a place to recharge your batteries."

15/11/2015

This has become our place for a weekend retreat. Close enough to Rotorua's attractions but quiet enough to just chill out and relax. the gardens and trout stream are a delight. Also small dog friendly so we can enjoy our time away without worrying about Paddy and also no costs for a kennel.

"Trout stream and spa"

Fab location on north end of town near Zorb Ball, across road from skyline and Mitai cultural experience. Cabin style accom with spa on balcony overlooking trout stream that runs through back of property. Nice pool, mini golf and games room. Very friendly staff. Onsite restaurant.

"By the Sea.."

09/11/2015

the ambiance is good but if you are looking for a quiet night...this perhaps isnt the place. the roaring sea and the lashing of waves can keep you awake...moreover, the systems in the washroom were too noisy. rooms have common wall and this can be too disturbing if the other side family is a late goer..

Many thanks Phillip for your review however I think you may have written up on the wrong property as we are and hour and a half away from the sea. Hope you enjoyed the resy of your holiday. Kitty

"WOW WOW WOW!!!"

5
29/10/2015

Best hotel of our whole trip in NZ. From the driveway entry it was WOW with all the flowers in bloom, someone obviously spends a lot of time in the garden, to Karen the manager who is just a wonderful host with tremendous personality - Karen IS Braeside and she would be the reason I return, so warm and welcoming and a great girl full of information and honesty regarding tours etc. This is a motel not a hotel, if you want a sterile flashy hotel go somewhere else. If you want spotless spacious rooms with beautiful gardens and great hosts stay here. We extended out 4 nights into 5 as we liked it so much and Rotorua offered plenty to do. Our son also was married there hence our initial stay. My husband and I stayed in an Executive King room with a spa on the deck overlooking the most beautiful trout stream you could dream of. Room 21. The bathroom was huge, as was the rest of the room, spacious kitchenette with microwave, large deck with 2 chairs, also 2 lounge chairs in the room. The bed was so comfortable, one of the reasons we decided to stay an extra night. The hotel may be a few extra minutes out of the city but well worth it. It is right opposite the chair lift and Rainbow Springs. My sister and her husband also stayed for a few nights in a room with separate lounge and kitchen to the bedroom - a room with 2 large beds - they stated the beds were a bit soft for their liking but still loved the accommodation. There is a restaurant with a great menu and well priced (although we did not eat there), play area for kids in a beautiful setting, an outdoor pool and separate spa pool and an indoor thermal pool. If something does not work, like our spa pool, Karen was right on it and called the electrician and fixed when we got home. There is also a laundry and dryer at $2 a load for each. Thank you to the owners Kitty and John Davis and to Karen Konig for your hospitality. Highly recommended. PS, we paid $140 AUD per night and worth every cent.

Hi Kath, thanks so much for your lovely review, and yes Karen is a credit to Braeside. She has been here for 15 years and is a much loved manager. Great to hear you enjoyed our gardens and I agree the pansies have been looking wonderful especially over the last month, we are now planting all the summer flowers as we like to keep changing the gardens for our new season. Have a wonderful Xmas

We loved this place..booked a "townhouse" for a good rate & found it really comfortable with plenty of living area. It was very clean, nicely furnished, comfy beds (I loved the heated towel rails..a novelty for us coming from Qld). Instead of bitumen and a few bushes around the accom, we enjoyed the gardens ( lovingly cared for) & the sheep grazing in the field behind the unit. I didn't get the name of the manager but she was great, always had a smile & really helpful. Thanks!

Dear Crystal, It was great to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. Also good to know that you enjoyed the gardens as we are always trying to make these interesting so that when people stroll around the stream setting and the units, they get to see a touch of new Zealand flora. Just arrived back from a stay at Braeside resort Rotorua. We were made to feel at home from the first moment we arrived Karen was awesome. The room was a little dated but very cosy and clean. Beds were comfortable and the kids loved the in room spa and heated swimming pool. All in all an excellent 3 day experience, close to all the outdoor activities and 5 mins drive from the city centre. Would recomend for families with young ones. Thanks again Karen for a wonderful stay.

03/10/2015

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and it was really comfortable for 4 people. Spacious and will lots of seating for all. The beds were comfortable and it was accessible to everything we needed...and it's not on the 'smelly' side of town which was a bonus. The thing that really made this accommodation FANTASTIC was the customer service. Truly, it was above and beyond and with every inquiry or conversation, we were listened to. Highly recommend this stay in Rotorua.

"Great motel: brilliant restaurant. "

27/09/2015

How amazing to find such great quality food and wine in a motel! A real hidden gem. It's a short but interesting menu with specials that change most days. The ingredients are fresh, excellent quality and superbly well cooked. Some of the combinations of ingredients were new to us, but exceedingly clever. Simple dishes like steak were just very, very well cooked and presented. The wine list is short, good quality and not overpriced (at least by English restaurant prices). And the accommodation is also pretty good. Very clean, well equipped. And a very comfortable bed - we slept through a small earthquake. But it's the restaurant that makes it special!
