« Great Location and Excellent Staff »

The location is close to the city center and is very convenient! The rooms were excellent (clean and spacious) and were very well maintained. The services was very accommodating and helped plan our stay in Rotorua! I would definitely stay here again.

« Another great trip to our Home away from Home »

We are never disappointed in what has now become a regular away weekend place for us. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The rooms are comfortably furnished and basics for self catering are on hand.. Amenities are close by and a major grocery store and take away facilities within a few blocks.

« clean, comfortable and lots to do »

We only stayed for one night but would happily return for longer next time. Rooms were very big and clean- we had 2 lovely big bathrooms a main kitchen and a kitchenette area. Lovely spa pool as well. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Staff were lovely and helpful. Great place :)

« Fantastic Motel in Rotorua »

This was an absolutely lovely motel to stay in. It was extremely clean, and the staff were lovely. Only critique would be there are more dishes/cutlery needed in each room. But overall fantastic. A++.

    « Nice and clean »

My room at this motel incorporated the best use of space that I've ever seen. The staff was amazingly helpful -- well above and beyond the call of duty. Also, everything was spotless. I highly recommend these accommodations.

    « Quiet »

I came here with my mum and we stayed for one night and it was lovely and quiet. It was very handy to the luge (which we didn't have time to go to), the room we got had every thing we needed and it was clean and tidy. I would come back again.

    « Spa rooms »

Spa was lovely room was clean not many tv channels not enough milk for room coffee and tea were very minimal but over all it was nice staff were pleasent parking was ridiculous trout stream was a nice feature

    « Beautifully Scenic »

Initial impression was the Braeside seemed compact. It was so scenic with so much to take in. Room was beautiful, spacious, perfectly clean with lovely furniture and set up. View from opening the front door was of a native bush walk out the back window with a flowing trout stream. A fantail quickly visited. Reception was very welcoming and helpful. Can't wait to come back for a full holiday. Already planning it.

« Very friendly and helpful staff »

Had to book a room for 3 at short notice. Booking was easy: checkin was efficient; staff at checkin could not be more helpful. Needed to extend stay at even shorter notice on a weekend. Staff were again helpful. We weren't able to keep the original room, which was understandable. First room was awesome. Bed was so comfortable. The room was specious. The second room wasn't as good, by we had been told that prior to booking. Both rooms were spotlessly clean. Having stayed in a few NZ motels, this one certainly met with international standards. Would stay again.

« Wonderful property, Would Definitely stay again! »

Stayed for 2 nights which were great! Our unit had our own park, 2 double beds (which I loved), nice and clean and fresh, great bathroom, kitchen and living area, Free WIFI, and great TV. For $2 we did a load of washing which was easy and simple, they had Put-Put, a room with table tennis which was great fun. The location was great, right across from the Luge, just 1 minute down the road is Countdown and only 5-10 minutes to the main Town Centre. Myself and my parents had a great stay here and really enjoyed it. The Staff are lovely and vibrant which is always great too see! I would definitely stay here again!

« Returned and stayed again. »

Chose this motel for our honeymoon. We booked early and got the honeymoon suite. On our annerversary we returned. Lovely well presented room. Enjoyed the outdoor spa over looking the trout stream. Comfortable relaxing, walking distance to gondolas and other top class venues. Thank you for a wonderful 2nd honey moon

    « Enjoyable stay »

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The kitchenette fully equipped. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows not so much. The bathroom was not very big, but clean. The shower was good. All rooms are ground level and the car can be parked in front of your room, which makes it very convenient. The hotel is a very good choice for guests with a car. It is close to city center by car and also very easy to get in an out of town.

    « Hidden gem! »

I'm from the U.S. originally - been in NZ two years now - and let me tell you, when you think of Best Western, you generally think "pretty average". This little property was probably the accommodation highlight of my 10 day North Island roadtrip. First of all, when we checked in on Sunday evening, the woman behind the desk was so friendly and helpful...she really seemed glad to see us. Then we went to our room and wow! The lounge and dining area was so cozy! We weren't too keen on venturing out to find somewhere to eat, so after getting settled, I nipped five minutes down the road and back to get some fresh as fish and chips and we settled in for the night to rest our road-weary bodies. But lo, the best part lay in store for bedtime because THOSE BEDS. Those beds were amazing. I want to know where they get them from because I'd like to order one for my own home! That's how comfortable they were! In the morning, we enjoyed the great shower and lingered over coffee and breakfast at our leisure in our room before setting out for the day's adventures. Seriously, this was just a fantastic property and if I ever decide to take a long weekend to Rotorua, I am definitely booking here again.

« Very comfortable and welcoming »

We stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom unit and really enjoyed it. The price of the unit was very reasonable and there was plenty of space and everything we needed. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff - Karen during the booking process and Kira who was on reception when we arrived. Both of them are a huge asset to the hotel. Another gem was the restaurant. We only ate there 1 night unfortunately but the food was delicious and I'd highly recommend it.

« Great place to stay »

Really nice motel, with well-looked after units. Rooms were cosy and fully equipped with everything we needed. The lady in the reception was absolutely lovely - friendly and helpful. The grounds were great too - had a nice stream running through. And was close to attractions (like Kiwi Encounter). Will definitely stay here again next time we're in Rotorua!

    « Great stay »

The room was simple but had everything we needed; electric blankets, heaters, kitchenette, pots, pans, etc. The lady at the reception was very welcoming and friendly. There's also a beautiful little stream and a garden in the compound.

« Be back for sure »

Thanks Karen and the team Our weekend away was truly awesome Lovely unit clean warm tidy and best of all our beloved wee dog could come Lovely friendly staff great complex that has everything even a wonderful restaurant It truly was hard to go home But we will be back Thanks so much xx

    « Brilliant location »

On initial arrival the receptionist was very friendly and helpful and clued us in to the local sights and shops to see. The facilities were very good - with the outdoor spa being nice and warm despite the cold outside. Room was neat and had everything necessary but did have a bit of a smell at first. Location was good as it was away from the sulfer smell and a 1 minute drive to wildlife parks, gondola and M?ori village.

« Fantastic location, beautiful setting »

My daughter and I had a spa room for a long girl's weekend together. The spa pool was fantastic, nice and private on our little verandah, with just trees and the sound of the stream below, and the birds singing. Soooo relaxing. And didn't take long to fill at all. The beds were great, and the decor very modern. Very conveniently located within 5mins drive of all the adventure activities we wanted to do (and literally across the road from the luge). When we stayed it was cold and raining but the electric heater did a good job of heating the room.

« Home away from home »

I booked for my Four Adult Children and I, two rooms for five nights, I did this online. When we arrived one of the rooms was different from what I had booked and also the two rooms were not together they were on opposite ends of the complex, which made it a bit difficult to commune. Even though the rooms were clean and serviced every day, I felt that the place was a little run down and needed some tidy up. The toilet roll holder was a bit rusty and was wobbly, plus the insult of 1 ply toilet paper. The kitchenette facilities was basic and in the end I went out and bought a sharp knife to cut food.Overall it was alright. Probably wouldn't stay again. Although the staff were very friendly so can't fault that.

« Best Family Accommodation in Rotorua »

Location, location right opposite skyline gondolas and Rainbow Springs. Can't fault this motor inn. We stayed in unit 21 with 1 twin bed and 1 single with spa pool on deck overlooking the spring with trout and birdlife, flora and fauna around. Mini putt golf on site as well as table tennis, exercise bike, heated pool and spa, playground for young ones, sandpit, volleyball and a restaurant. Something for everyone. Breakfast fantastic pancakes. Staff obliging. We were next to 2 roads no road noise for us. Parking good inside grounds. Units clean with all you need. Good shower and bed. Great presentation. We will be back. Can't wait.

« Great place to stay if visiting Rotorua. »

Firstly I feel that one should refer to this facility as a Motel rather than a Hotel as previously referred to by other contributors. The facility does have a very good restaurant for evening meals only and will deliver breakfasts to your room. However the rooms are more of a Motel type and have the usual kitchen facilities. The staff at reception and in the restaurant really are most helpful and are always cheerful and friendly. With regard to the rooms the beds are very comfortable, good wifi and plenty of sky channels available. My only small criticism would be with regard to the fact that there was no shelf space for clothes etc in the room we were in which necessitated leaving folded clothes in the suitcase.Small item perhaps but a bit of an inconvenience. Finally bathroom not great as it has one of those curtains that is out to get you !!!!!

    « Best Western Braeside »

Excellent service by all staff and very close to quite a few attractions. Very easy to find with parking right outside your room. Very clean and tidy appearance in and outside the room. Breakfast was prompt in the time frame we had indicated. reception staff very helpful with directions and what to see and do although we only stayed overnight. Quite roomy with great facilities.

    « Very comfy »

First visit to braeside- Karen at reception is a gem, bubbly and friendly. Stayed in room 10 with family, lots of space, spa and stream just outside. Teenagers played mini golf, and it was just down the road from skyline. Room was spotless and serviced daily. Definately would recommend.

    « Beautiful surroundings »

We recently stayed 4 nights at this hotel. We arrived in the dark so had no idea until we woke up the first morning just how beautiful our view was outside the kitchen window....we stayed in room 12.....very comfortable King-sized bed in a separate room and a very spacious living area which included a Murphy bed...I believe as we did not require it we did not open it.... Kitchenette was well-equipped. There was an outdoor hottub but because of the cool and rainy weather we never actually tried it..what a shame...a 3 minute walk to Skyline Rotorua..we lucked out and went the first full day we were there when we had some decent weather...Karen at reception was so friendly and helpful when we asked about some hidden treasures around Rotorua....we walked Hamurana Springs which was by far my favorite walk of all times...we also visited Okere falls, Blue Lake and Lake Okareka walkway where there were loads of bird watching opportunities....back to the hotel...what a great way to enjoy the morning as you see ducks swimming by the trout stream as you sip your coffee....would definite.y stay there again..need to try out the min golf and the hot tub next sulphur smell...far enough from town to feel like you are in a secluded resort yet very close by car to get to shopping and restaurants...

« Worth revisit again, great for family »

our second stay at the resort, Very neat and comfortable beds, Great for family. Private clean spa. Gem really, just minute walk to Rotorua Skyline Gondola and to Rainbow Springs. no sulphur odour, the resort seems so secluded from the town, peace surrounding. Kids loved the Game room with table tennis and also Trout stream, we were lucky to see few trouts, also mini Golf. We took our time to enjoy the scenery behind the rooms. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone

    « going there again »

clean tidy felt at home, quiet, no complaints at all and the staff were helpful friendily, everything you could there swimming pool , ,children's .playground.. Nice restaurant on premises. lovely wee walk around the property with stream. and abundant birdlife

    « Great »

l'm not too sure about the normal rooms but they upgraded us to one of the cabins which overlooked a stream. This room was excellent with everything you would need which included a comfortable bed. There seems to be a fair bit to do at the park, although we didn't use any of it as the park was fairly close to the CBD.

    « Great Family Resort »

Stayed in a one bedroom unit, had everything you need for a short or longer stay, very clean and comfortable. Great place for families as there is lots for kids to do, even in the winter. The restaurant was lovely too, happy to cater to my daughter's preferences. Will be back again!

    « Amazing »

Booked for 2 nights on a mini trek around North Island. Only really wanted a place to get our heads down (2 adults, 2 teenaged boys) but got a whole lot more. Practically full kitchen facilities with some useful provisions (which helped with keeping the NZ costs down), a whole floor for the kids, 2 Bathrooms, Sky TV, a hot tub, a friendly ram in the back yard and brilliant staff. We didn't even use the restaurant or swimming pool. Really ticked all the boxes. Oh and Rotorua was good too!

« Nice place, well located »

This place is on a short distance from the CBD and well located for Skyline and Rainbow Springs. Unit is very comfy and well equipted - kitchen is good plus. Heater was a bit noisy but ok. Our unit had a great outlook to the garden stream. Lots of common amenities heated pool, spas, mini golf, laundry etc. On site restaurant food is fantastic and highly recommend. When booking through Best Western to stay here just check that advertised Best Western specials are included for this specific resort. Would certainly stay here again.

« Always so nice to come to »

We try to get there once a year and as per usual we were not let down. When we booked they actually remembered us from a previous time!! We made a mistake in our room choice and lucky for us they were not full up not and didn't mind us switching. THANK YOU! I find the owners and staff are so lovely to deal with and make us feel like it's a home away from home. They rooms have been remodeled and look nice. Can't wait to go back next year.

    « Family trip away »

Happy with price and accommodation. Only issue was that we booked for 2 adults and 1 child and then ended up taking another grandchild as well. Rung the Best Western 0800 no to see if we could have accommodation for an extra child which they said they had arranged. However when we arrived at the hotel they were not aware and were fully booked. However they did not charge us extra and said the kids could top and tail. Nice friendly people and clean and tidy room.

    « Pluses and minuses »

We stayed here with our young kids. The pluses were the spa facilities attached to our unit the on-site pool, play ground and fantastic restaurant. The location is just across the road from a few main attractions and the staff were very helpful. The minuses were that it was difficult to heat our two story unit. The convection heater was insufficient during the middle of winter also the fold out double bed whilst feeling comfortable wasn't great to sleep in with it being well used the indentation/caving in gave me a sore back. Fortunately the single beds upstairs were of better quality and could sleep in these. Would I return to this place? Yes. The pluses outweighed the minor annoyances

« Ticked All the Boxes »

We stayed here as our main motivation was it was pet friendly and we have a small dog that loves her holidays too. We were impressed by the clean and well maintained facilities and the bonus of our own hot tub was great. Close to all the attractions but quiet and tranquil so you will get a good nights sleep. Highly recommend.

« Great for family and sights »

Being at Best Western with a collection of family members including visitors from US helped us make the most of a brief time in Rotorua. All staff were friendly, responsive and efficient and made changes to our units to better accommodate us. The resort has plenty to keep children occupied, is quiet despite close access to main road, and meant we could walk to Rainbow Springs, Gondola and Luge. While we didn't use it, having a restaurant on site is also a nice option.

« Looking for a reason to return to Rotorua simply so I can stay here again! »

Can't express how much I loved my stay here. I think my room number was 13 [?], it was perfectly positioned with parking directly at the door, close to the main office and with easy walking distance of the main entrance. Staff are quick to provide good local knowledge inclusive of an informative map of the area, the lovely warm smiles and friendly waves are an added bonus as you make your way around the lovely grounds or as you come and go. The Best Western is ideally located in easy walking distance to many of the main attractions, the area is flat and well foot pathed with plenty of traffic lights for safe crossing. Rooms are serviced to perfection every day, can't fault the quality tea, coffee and hot chocolate which is greatly appreciated on the chilly mornings and nights. Towels are replenished daily which is appreciated if you use the spa, and the excellent quality makes them a pure luxury experience. Bathroom is HUGE, well maintained and spotlessly clean. TV has good screen quality, good instructions are provided for using sky and the heat pump works well, this can be a little noisy but that is perhaps more to do with the positioning on the internal lounge / bedroom wall than the pump itself. Lounge suite is comfortable and inviting, kitchen table and chairs are perfect for planning the days adventures. Kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything you need for in room cooking and meals. The bed, linen and pillows are divine! Having an electric blanket with separate controls is an added bonus, well appointed power plugs for charging devices over night and a TV in the room makes late night movie watching a pleasure.

« Fantastic place to stay »

Fantastic place to stay, the studio was spacious. Helpful and friendly staff and the owner. Just a little hiccup in getting the baby bed arranged. But the owner, Kitty and her son came down to get the things sorted.

« Our home away from Home »

Great place to stay. Comfortable and dog friendly. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff have a smile which can be rare nowadays. For those who don't enjoy the sulphur smell of Rotorua the motel is close to the Gondolas and away from the nauseating stench.

    « LOVED this place. »

We travelled up from Wellington, staying from place to place, and this was by far the best one to settle for a few days. Friendly owners, and great people at check-in. PLENTIFUL wi-fi (thank you), comfy beds, a private hot-tub, another spa and pool just outside. The laundry is easy to access and takes change. Bring your own soap. There is a grocery store up the road. We checked in, admired our patio, and then noticed we had wild kingdom in our backyard! Sheep, bunnies, birds! We didn't know this big guy's name, but we called him Gordon Ramsey. :) The trout stream was neat. We didn't get a chance to try the cafe, but the menu looked good. You are near enough downtown Rotorua to drive to some great shopping/restaurants in a hurry, but far enough that the sulfur smell isn't detectable. Try Zippy's for breakfast! It's a little tricky to park next to your room with a bigger vehicle (we had a RAV), but that's a small gripe. The gondola is directly across the street. Pick a night and sneak over to look for kiwis in the dark at Rainbow Springs! With a car, you aren't far from all the attractions, and you're in good shape to drive up to Matamata and Hobbiton. We chose wisely. Give the sheep a pet for us if you stay!

    « Birthday stay »

Over for a friend's birthday then family time at skyline. Beautiful location with plenty of amenities for the kids. 50 channel sky tv and really comfortable beds. The rooms are immaculate and friendly service with ample parking. Close to skyline skyride (opposite in fact). Great value for money and good discount for PSA members.

« Best for the price »

Might as well report on this motel whilst I am still here. Very impressed. Quick check in, we had room 21. Trout stream out the back with rippling water whilst you took a spa bath. Big room, big bathroom. Kitchenette. Fast free wifi. Big bed and a spare. Drove in from Auckland and first traffic lights turn left. Right opposite cable car up the mountain with loads of facilities and attractions. Short drive into town. Supermarket on same street. Sadly can only stay one night. Laundry. Breakfast 12 to 16 NZ to room. Restaurant on site. Table tennis and mini golf.

    « Perfect Location »

This beautiful motel is situated right around the main activities in Rotorua. Skyline is right opposite and lake is a 5-7 min walk. The rooms were very well maintained and a special mention goes out to the staff for being helpful. A small park inside the hotel is a treat for the kids and hot pools will help you beat the chilly weather. A big thumbs up :)

« Wonderful place, great people! »

My family and I stayed in a one bedroom apartment and it was perfect. It was not cramped at all and it was very clean. The electric blankets were a cozy bonus! The wifi is reliable and there is parking for everyone. While we didn't use the amenities, they looked nice and there was plenty to keep you busy just at the little resort. The people who worked at reception were incredibly nice and altogether our stay was great!

    « Handy location »

Immaculately clean, handy location, but quiet. Walking distance to Skyline gondolas and luge, and Rainbow Springs. Plenty of facilities: children's playground, pool, spa pool on site. Loved the fallow deer over the back fence and the tuis and bellbirds in the trees. Plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the pretty gardens. Great meal in the restaurant. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

« Nice peaceful environment close to great Rotorua activities »

Clean, comfortable and quiet units with free Wifi located near Rainbow Springs, Mini golf and Gondola/Luge. We booked a 2 bedroom unit and although slightly dated decor it is certainly welcoming and has everything you need for a short stay. We visited while weather was still reasonably warm but I would be concerned in winter as heating seemed basic and windows also seemed to swing open wider if only just opened slightly. Would certainly book again for future trips though as price and location could not be beaten in my opinion. Restaurant is also onsite.

    « Awesome »

We stayed in the 3brm apartment, family of 5 with 3 children. It was very clean and furnished lovely. The customer service was extremely friendly. The property is very well maintained and pleasantly laid out. Lots of options for the kids entertainment. The restaurant was 5 star, the food was amazing, compliments to the chef Mary and to our waiter who was very attentive and a lovely person. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to others.

    « Fantastic! »

We stayed in the 3bedroom unit. All are ground floor units so it was very quiet even though resort was fully booked both nights we were there and it was the school holidays. Lovely outdoor heated pool and spa which the kids loved.....we also had our own spa pool in a little shed(?) out the back of our unit. It is a self filling spa so you just turn on the tap as if you were filling a bath! Our spa was a bit small/cosy for the 4 of us but we all fitted in. The unit itself was absolutely perfect! Very clean, modern, spacious, warm ....had a bathroom plus ensuite, two tvs, good size fridge and kitchen and comfy beds. Location for luge/gondola and rainbow springs was excellent.....we didn't use our car the whole time we were there as we walked to our activities. And the lovely young gentleman who was on reception both days could not have been more polite or helpful and really helped make our stay lovely! Although the children's playground is for 10yr olds and under there is a 9hole mini golf course, indoor table tennis room and an outdoor badminton/volleyball net with all balls/rackets etc available from the reception. You cannot get bored here! Would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone!

    « Adequate »

This place is all you need for a weekend away. Clean and tidy. Good location, has a spa and pool, playground if you're travelling with kids. Only thing that went wrong was having to take a cold shower as our room did not have hot water on our last day of sta. Also wi-fi extremely slow and drops in & out, but for the price, I would stay here again.

    « Home from home »

Customer service is everything and this place has nailed it. When we arrived we were a little lost for where to eat or go out during the day and we didn't have a car so for the first couple of days the owners drove us to local places to get food and drink and they recommended loads of places for us to visit. We were welcomed to the place like family. Our accommodation had everything we could need, the view from the back balcony was beautiful - it overlooked a trout stream from the comfort of our private hot tub. If the owners ever come to England, look us up, we would love to return the favour!

« Relaxing (with spa bath!) »

We spent a night here, good base to explore Rotorua if you have a car (it's a long walk from the CBD, but very close to the luge/gondola, mini golf, supermarket down the road). The soda bath on the cabin balcony was so nice, fit 2 tall people well. Lovely little stream outside the cabin. Useful little kitchenette for microwave dinners. Room service breakfast was tasty & well made. Comfortable beds, on the softer side. Decent range of pay tv channels. Large enough room. Good water pressure in the shower. Clean and tidy. Helpful people at reception. Free mini golf on site, although it's home made which made for a hilariously slanted and inaccurate game!

« Great kitchenette room with a brook running behind it! »

The hotel was in a great location, just a short drive into town. Our kitchenette room (it seemed to be the best located room we saw) was very comfortable with a small stream running behind it that we could enjoy while sitting on the deck off of our room. It was very private & peaceful!

    « Nice and Tidy »

Stayed in the hotel during easter break and it was good. The location was ideal and the hotel rooms were nice and clean. The staff at the reception were awesome and extremely helpful. Will stay again at the same place next time we visited Ratarua

« Friendly and comfortable motel in Rotorua »

Really enjoyed my stay at the motel. Large comfortable rooms, good amenities, restaurant, nicely landscaped and perfectly situated just outside the busy downtown area, yet convenient to everything by car.

« happy and very friendly »

This is the second stay I have had with Best Western Braeside Resort , I stayed in room 6 very clean and fresh best of all the staff were all lovely helpful people . We ate at the on site restaurant and the meals are 4 star plus thanks Mary Ann you are a fantastic cheff . The staff in the restaurant were the best, in all we will be staying their again . With out hesitation I would recommend this fantastic Resort to anyone

    « Perfect Place »

Loved the throwback feeling we got from our stay at Braeside. Great value and perfect place to stay for getting into the start of our Kiwi vacation. Loved the private hot tub and the overall cleanliness of the place. Made our own breakfast using the kitchenette, and the beds were very comfortable.

« Great place to stay »

Stayed here for 2 nights with friends. Nicely appointed. Small pool with jacuzzi and hot tub. Mini golf and table tennis available. Lovely grounds with a trout stream, kiddies play area and a boules pitch. Room had lounge diner, 2 settees, table and 4 chairs, good kitchen with double hot plate. Microwave under worktop was a bit awkward to use. Big bathroom with wet room - no bath. Back door led to a private enclosed area containing a hot tub big enough for 2 or three people. Bedroom in a separate area. Table and chairs outside of front door for sitting out. Car required for trip to town. Supermarket close by though. Restaurant available on site. Very friendly reception. Highly recommended.

    « Beautiful and clean »

We have stayed here 4 times in the last 10 years and always find they deliver at a very high standard. Accomodation is large and clean, with everything you might need for your stay with very friendly staff. The pool, spa are keep clean and well kept. The resturant we have not used . The best location to some of Rotoruas top attractions.

    « A travelers gem. »

Very clean, with everything a traveler needs. Great location. Surprisingly quiet. Grounds are meticulously maintained. Customer service and friendliness unmatched. Don't miss the excellent on site restaurant, The Brook, for dinner. Order breakfast delivery, too......prepared by the same chef who prepares the wonderful dinners. We will definitely stay here on a future visit.

« Wonderful hotel in a beautiful city »

The Best Western Braeside is a wonderful place to stay, relax, and enjoy all that the Rotorua area has to offer. It is nice and quiet with plenty of parking, laundry facilities, great and fast internet and a big selection of television stations for evening entertainment.

« Would stay here again »

Felt VERY welcome from the moment we entered reception. The room meet all our needs and much more plenty of room to relax, location very close to all we needed to do. As we had a teenager the attractions Rainbow Springs, the gondolas was 5mins walk crossing only 1 main road,We would highly recommend staying here again anytime :-)

« Friendly place to stay »

Location was convenient coming from the north, just off the main road but we weren't troubled by road noise. Very happy with the room. Staff welcoming and continued to be helpful. Room clean and well equipped, we were happy to eat in our room although there is a restaurant on site. There is an invitation to wash your car - or dog(!) - with hosepipe.

    « Good value »

We had a lovely stay at the Braeside and found it very good value for money. Our room was slightly dated but was very clean and wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we are lucky enough to visit New Zealand again.

« Very friendly lovely room »

Nice spacious room with everything you need and more including cafetière with coffee as well as instant, a griddle, and microwave. Spa tub on deck filled quickly and very secluded. Restaurant on site will provide excellent meals in your room at no extra cost. Staff were really friendly and very helpful. Hotel is very close to major attractions and easy to find with free parking and wifi.

« Great place to stay »

Friendly staff, clean rooms, dog friendly, close to the gondola for mountain biking. Really nice surroundings by a little stream and playground for the kids also. Had breakfast there also and was pretty good.

    « Great customer service »

We started by having dinner at the restaurant and the food was excellent! The man who served us was friendly, helpful and funny. The room came with a self filling spa and outside seating area in the garden. A short walk to the luge, mini golf and other attractions. The staff were really helpful and happy. We had a great time.

    « Quiet, clean, friendly »

The property is just off of the main road. It has a small walking trail, a pool and a small pitch and put. The staff is friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and nicely equipped. The hotel is well located for enjoying attractions in and around Rotorua.

    « Clean and comfortable »

We were greeted quite warmly upon our arrival, even presented with a small bottle of fresh milk, 'for our tea', which we discovered was a thoughtful routine in other places visited in NZ. The hostess helped us determine the best activities for our family of four adults in the short amount of time we had and even offered discount passes. Our room was two stories with two bathrooms. Our son dragged his twin bed down to the living room and our daughter slept on a Murphy bed. Upon opening our rear deck sliders, we were greeted by a neighboring ram on the opposite side of the fence who was quite friendly, obviously a result of being fed by previous guests in the past! Later, a brightly colored pukeko entertained us as well! The rooms were clean and the kitchen offered us the chance to make a light breakfast with coffee in the morning. There was a nice little stream bordered by flowers to walk along and the location of the hotel was perfect: no noise at night, and near many attractions yet away from the sulphuric fumes of the geothermal activity.

« Very comfortable and enjoyable stay »

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in unit 17. This was a magnificent spacious unit comprising a large lounge/kitchenette, two bedrooms - one with twin beds and the other with a queen bed - and a bathroom comprising a large step in shower, WC and wash basin. The lounge had a table, TV, sofa (which could be used as a bed), one easy chair and five padded dining table chairs. The kitchenette comprised a large fridge/freezer, microwave, a two ring hob and an oven. There appeared to be a missing oven light which should indicate when the oven reached the correct temperature. Six sets of plates, cups and cutlery were provided. Three saucepans, one frying pan, a chopping board, a coffee plunger and a kettle were also provided. Disappointingly, few cooking utensils and aids were provided. We particularly missed scissors, a small sharp knife, oven gloves, sieve or a slotted spoon. The server had a broken handle which kept coming off. There was plenty of coffee and tea provided. Also provided was washing up liquid, dish cloth and a small drying cloth which was replaced daily. There was plenty of storage space everywhere. Toiletries provided were soap and shampoo only. No shower gel. The bathroom had a heated towel rail. One aspect we disliked about the bathroom was that it had a sliding door and had no proper sealing with the door frame ? there was a 5mm gap. The shower was powerful and a pleasure to use. The bathroom had two hooks for hanging towels but one of ours was broken. Although the lounge was spacious, the lighting was not good. There was a central light and a standard lamp but these did not provide sufficient light for easy reading. We found the light in the queen bedroom to be better for reading! The bedrooms each had a wardrobe and small cupboards. All beds had an electric blanket which was surprising at the height of summer. The queen bedroom also had a clock/radio and TV. Most of the windows had blinds and curtains. We used the hotel laundrette which comprised two washing machines and cost $2. Outside the laundrette was a drying line and pegs. We enjoyed using the mini golf and table tennis facilities at the hotel. We were very impressed with the beautiful gardens all over. We ate once in the attached restaurant, The Brook, which was excellent. We would have eaten there more times but for the limited menu. Wifi was free and quick without any connection problems. The hotel was very quiet. It was very easy to find and was ideally located for us, being near many major scenic locations. It is about 6km from Rotorua city centre where there was plenty of parking. There is an excellent Countdown supermarket 2km down the road from the hotel towards Rotorua where we bought our breakfast food and food for evening meals. All the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Putting right the very few criticisms would be easy and would make the hotel excellent.

    « Wierd noises... »

Comes night time and some annoying, creepy sounds are abound! From visitors doing their laundry at 11.30pm (unfortunately there's no door on laundry!) - to pipes that need bleed, and water dripping within walls onto hard plastic roof/floor, who knows ?! Don't stay near laundry!!

« Clean, excellent location and has it's own trout stream. »

Booked with Best Western because of the location; across the road from The Gondola, Luge and Rainbow Springs. Easy to find and we had a beautiful room with our own spa and the Stream with trout viewable from the room's balcony. Very reasonably priced, excellent service and VERY Clean. I was most impressed with the triple sheeting which meant I didn't have to have someone else's Doona/Duvet in my face when sleeping. (Triple sheeting is when you have the bottom sheet, top sheet and then another sheet over the doona/duvet and all three would be washed for each guest). I've stayed at numerous hotels and this one impressed me no end. I was with teenage girls who tried the hot pool at the accommodation but said it was too hot but managed a dip in the pool before returning to their own "private" spa on the balcony. Our room backed on to the stream with it's walkway so people do go past but if you close your curtains its still very private. Lovely service and look forward to staying their again next time I am visiting the Luge.

    « Comfortable and convenient »

The Best Western Braeside is conveniently located at the edge of town, they are right across from the Skyline Gondola and Rainbow Springs Kiwi and Wildlife Park. The rooms were clean and nicely sized with functional kitchenette. The bathroom and bathroom sink are petite but completely useable. Just 10 minutes from the main mall on the lake, just a few doors down from the Rotorua zip line eco tour and more. We had a pleasant stay in unit #2 and would recommend if motoring through for a night or two.

« Perfect New Years Eve Getaway! »

Four of us, two couples stayed here at the Braeside Resort New Years Eve for just one night, it by far exceeded our expectations, everything from the Receptionist at check in, to the quality of our unit. We stayed in Unit 12 which had a bedroom with a queen sized bed, and a pull down closet bed in the main living area. The fact that we had our own private spa in our room was amazing! The place was super clean and tidy, we had everything we needed. The value for money was definitely worth it, we enjoyed everything about our stay. Whether your a couple, or a family Braeside is perfect. We played a little game of mini golf in the morning and went for a nice swim in the pool area. Overall great stay, great quality, great service, great New Years! We will definitely be back again soon!

    « Peaceful and quiet »

We spent 2 nights here and it was peaceful and quiet. The rooms were lovely, clean and well appointed. The staff was very helpful and friendly. An excellent stop on our 10 day trip of New Zealand. The roses were amazing.

    « Excellent »

Warm friendly inobtrusive service, rooms attended to daily. Great facilities, swimming pool, jacuzzi, trout stream, mini golf, petonque, children's playground , restaurant, to name a few.walking distance to the attractions at Rainbow Springs and Skyline. Will use again on return visit to Rotorua.

« Ideal for short stopover »

We stayed for one night so that we could visit the area on our tour of New Zealand. The room was excellent and well equipped , and we enjoyed our stay. We visited the gardens by the stream running through the property before leaving, well worth a short walk!

    « 25th wedding anniversary trip »

After arriving from Australia, we were pleasantly surprised with the Braeside Resort in Rotarua. The grounds were immaculate, with our room no.21 (which included an outdoor 3 person spa) very neat, tidy and comfortable. It was also perfectly positioned close to the crystal clear trout stream which runs through the property. The lady on reception was very helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be staying here next time we travel to Rotarua.

    « Christmas Dinning »

A group of us were dinning at the The Stratosfare Rotorua which is at the top of the Gondolas a short walk from The Best Western. This was one of the main reasons for choosing this motel as there was no need to worry about drinking to much or a taxi ride. We found the motel to be in a quite location, older style buildings but nicely presented, with nice park like surroundings. In our unit the only fault I could find was the lack of shelving especially in the bathroom.

« Great venue close to attractions »

best place we stayed in New Zealand, just on the edge of town so there was little to no smell, close to every thing, the owners and staff are lovely. Really took the time to recommend the attractions. This will be the place that we stay next time we are in Rotoura. Also Free WiFi WooHoo

« Better that in the pictures in the internet »

First time that i went to a place that is prettier in reality than the pictures in the internet. The room was very comfortable, spacious and clean as a wistle. It was a very warm and wellcoming room. The bed was a dream. It is a little far from the city center but it really didn't bother us.

    « Lovely stay »

Wonderful staff! Stayed over the weekend and since we checked in we just stayed there and enjoy.Mini golf, spa and bbq are just a few facilities that made our stay enjoyable. Special mention to Tira, the lady at reception, she is so lovely and helpful!

« Excellent Motel at Rotor »

We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit. The unit was spacious and excellently furnished. The bedrooms were comfortable and cosy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This property has a very well maintained garden with lovely flowers. The location just off the highway is great. There are couple of eating options and a BP fuel outlet just down the road.

« My stay at Braeside »

Stayed last nite in a lovely private spa room. Beautiful clean and tidy. Had the most amazing sleep. The bed was fabulous! I want one. Highly recommend place to stay. Restaurant delicious recommend the lamb.

    « Delightful Motel »

The manager should work in tourism, she was amazingly helpful with tour ideas and bookings. The motel was immaculate with lots of happy flower gardens. Had the best salmon ever in the restaurant. Everyone was so friendly. Laundry facilities were also much appreciated.

« A sanctuary to relax, destress and recharge »

We have stayed here on numerous occasions and have always found the staff courteous, friendly and helpful. The facilities are well furnished and the gardens are well kept with stream walks meandering around the property. The facility is also dog friendly (small to medium dogs) with a park within walking distance.

« Tranquil, peaceful and a place to recharge your batteries. »

This has become our place for a weekend retreat. Close enough to Rotorua's attractions but quiet enough to just chill out and relax. the gardens and trout stream are a delight. Also small dog friendly so we can enjoy our time away without worrying about Paddy and also no costs for a kennel.

« Trout stream and spa »

Fab location on north end of town near Zorb Ball, across road from skyline and Mitai cultural experience. Cabin style accom with spa on balcony overlooking trout stream that runs through back of property. Nice pool, mini golf and games room. Very friendly staff. Onsite restaurant.

    « By the Sea.. »

the ambiance is good but if you are looking for a quiet night...this perhaps isnt the place. the roaring sea and the lashing of waves can keep you awake...moreover, the systems in the washroom were too noisy. rooms have common wall and this can be too disturbing if the other side family is a late goer..

« Great Service - punches above the standard »

Excellent and friendly service, Great food. Rooms were well over standard required and entire resort is well maintained. Close to town and attractions. Also has some great little activities on site to keep you busy. The staff were always on top of the little things and efficient and friendly.

« Excellent accommodation, very helpful and friendly staff. »

Excellent accommodation! Comfortable bedroom, sparkling, clean bathroom, a well equipped kitchen and a spacious dining and seating area. On the outskirts of Rotarua with its own garden and trout stream - a delightful place to stay with the added bonus of friendly, helpful staff.

    « WOW WOW WOW!!! »

Best hotel of our whole trip in NZ. From the driveway entry it was WOW with all the flowers in bloom, someone obviously spends a lot of time in the garden, to Karen the manager who is just a wonderful host with tremendous personality - Karen IS Braeside and she would be the reason I return, so warm and welcoming and a great girl full of information and honesty regarding tours etc. This is a motel not a hotel, if you want a sterile flashy hotel go somewhere else. If you want spotless spacious rooms with beautiful gardens and great hosts stay here. We extended out 4 nights into 5 as we liked it so much and Rotorua offered plenty to do. Our son also was married there hence our initial stay. My husband and I stayed in an Executive King room with a spa on the deck overlooking the most beautiful trout stream you could dream of. Room 21. The bathroom was huge, as was the rest of the room, spacious kitchenette with microwave, large deck with 2 chairs, also 2 lounge chairs in the room. The bed was so comfortable, one of the reasons we decided to stay an extra night. The hotel may be a few extra minutes out of the city but well worth it. It is right opposite the chair lift and Rainbow Springs. My sister and her husband also stayed for a few nights in a room with separate lounge and kitchen to the bedroom - a room with 2 large beds - they stated the beds were a bit soft for their liking but still loved the accommodation. There is a restaurant with a great menu and well priced (although we did not eat there), play area for kids in a beautiful setting, an outdoor pool and separate spa pool and an indoor thermal pool. If something does not work, like our spa pool, Karen was right on it and called the electrician and fixed when we got home. There is also a laundry and dryer at $2 a load for each. Thank you to the owners Kitty and John Davis and to Karen Konig for your hospitality. Highly recommended. PS, we paid $140 AUD per night and worth every cent.

    « Thanks Tripadvisor »

We loved this place..booked a "townhouse" for a good rate & found it really comfortable with plenty of living area. It was very clean, nicely furnished, comfy beds (I loved the heated towel rails..a novelty for us coming from Qld). Instead of bitumen and a few bushes around the accom, we enjoyed the gardens ( lovingly cared for) & the sheep grazing in the field behind the unit. I didn't get the name of the manager but she was great, always had a smile & really helpful. Thanks!

    « Amazing Hotel... »

I was planing to stay one night but I've extended without any problems. I have to say that I am very surprise with this BW.. Has all you could need if you are local or like me, indoor pool, outdoor pool, table tennis, mini golf, laundry and a very good restaurant! Definitely is one of the best hotel/motel I have stayed in NZ/AU. Also very close to the attractions here in Rotorua.

    « Great service »

Counter staff were very kind on the phone. We had to travel over 3 hours to come here and the staff were very considerate as we missed the latest check in time of 9:30. They were very helpful in showing us to our room also. The rooms are nice and big and very home feeling. The spa bath was exceptional and has very good facilities. Overall would come back and stay again. Good atmosphere and lovely staff. 10/10.

    « Great little hotel »

Just arrived back from a stay at Braeside resort Rotorua. We were made to feel at home from the first moment we arrived Karen was awesome. The room was a little dated but very cosy and clean. Beds were comfortable and the kids loved the in room spa and heated swimming pool. All in all an excellent 3 day experience, close to all the outdoor activities and 5 mins drive from the city centre. Would recomend for families with young ones. Thanks again Karen for a wonderful stay.

« Convenient and Above and Beyond in Customer Service »

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and it was really comfortable for 4 people. Spacious and will lots of seating for all. The beds were comfortable and it was accessible to everything we needed...and it's not on the 'smelly' side of town which was a bonus. The thing that really made this accommodation FANTASTIC was the customer service. Truly, it was above and beyond and with every inquiry or conversation, we were listened to. Highly recommend this stay in Rotorua.

    « Fabulous stay »

The Braeside Resort is a wonderful place to stay. Friendly and accommodating staff, modern spacious rooms. And we loved the soak in the private spa. Lovely setting and a quick walk or drive to some of Rotorua s attractions.

« Great motel: brilliant restaurant. »

How amazing to find such great quality food and wine in a motel! A real hidden gem. It's a short but interesting menu with specials that change most days. The ingredients are fresh, excellent quality and superbly well cooked. Some of the combinations of ingredients were new to us, but exceedingly clever. Simple dishes like steak were just very, very well cooked and presented. The wine list is short, good quality and not overpriced (at least by English restaurant prices). And the accommodation is also pretty good. Very clean, well equipped. And a very comfortable bed - we slept through a small earthquake. But it's the restaurant that makes it special!

« Very friendly staff, good clean rooms »

We found Braeside very pleasant and the staff are great. Rooms very clean and tidy and to a high standard. The restaurant was excellent, top marks to the chef! Couldn't fault the meal. We chose Braeside for its location as it is very handy to town, all amenities and holiday attractions. Would be happy recommend and will definitely stay again. ??
