"Good but needs refurbishment"
Felipe M, 16 Janvier 2024

The staff is very kind and the breakfast was good (try the Cappuccino). But it is below the Best Western pattern. The room needs an upgrade, as the bathroom that should not have the bath anymore but only a shower. For the price this is a valid option. Not a four stars hotel.

"Overall a good hotel, convenient and safe location"
Leona A, 30 Novembre 2023

We were given a tiny room and water leaked through the bathroom shower doors. We did get an upgrade the next day when the hotel was less busy. The second room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was very good but could do with some variety. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location. Very safe as there are many foreign embassies down the same road and lots of security around. Felt very safe walking down the streets in the vicinity. One thing though, I left my phone in the room to charge one day when we went out in the morning and when I came back in the evening, it was missing. Informed the front desk but got a very dismissory response. Never found the phone. I am giving the hotel 4 stars though I lost my phone as it was my fault for leaving it in the room.

"Definitely not a 4 star hotel"
Razzle M, 30 Novembre 2023

Kind of a dump. Hotel staff are reasonably friendly and the location isn't bad but the hotel is in desperate need of an update. For American travelers, the showers are quite small and uncomfortable to use. Bed was fine and the rooms have high ceilings but otherwise it was basically the equivalent of a Motel6.

"Great Stay with Friendly Service"
HRohlk, 17 Novembre 2023

I had a great stay at the Best Western Hotel Artdeco - it was conveniently located for small walks to restaurants and the subway. The rooms were very clean and the staff was wonderful. So helpful whenever we needed something.

"Best Western Art Deco"
David S, 28 Octobre 2023

The hotel is okay just but is not a 4 star hotel in my experience. It is advertised as having a bar and a restaurant which maybe it does but is not open which was very disappointing. Breakfast was good, air conditioning in the room was good. hotel is quite shabby and not what was expected from a 4 star hotel. Staff were very friendly which is why I am giving this hotel a 2 star and would be lower if not for the nice staff.

"Best Western Art Deco"
hollyhayes, 25 Septembre 2023

The hotel is on a pretty quiet street with access to shopping and needed amenities a few blocks away. The hotel is cozy and quite comfortable. The staff is amazing and resourceful. They truly go above and beyond for guests.

"Nice Hotel with Friendly Staff"
A1282IMjohns, 17 Août 2023

We stayed at the Artdeco twice on a recent trip to Rome. We will definitely go back there. Rooms were very clean and well air- conditioned. Staff was very friendly and helpful at check-in and check-out; they ordered taxis for us on several occasions. The hotel is relatively small (which we liked) and never any wait when checking in or out. The hotel is several decades old (this is Rome), but well maintained and pleasant. The buffet breakfast was extensive and high quality; bacon and eggs plus coffee made- to-order, great fresh orange juice, fruit and lots (really lots) of pastries; we tried to take our time over breakfast before heading out for sightseeing. We liked the location; it is a 20+ minute walk to the major sights like Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Colosseum etc.; the hotel is in a quiet location; we were on the third floor and had zero traffic noise. Taxi drivers had no difficulty getting to the hotel. It is only about a five minute walk to where the hop-on, hop-off bus tours start (we know those sound touristy but it was a great way to get oriented and see most of the sights). There is a great little, very reasonably priced restaurant, Mia Restaurant, less than 100 yards away where we ate several time. Overall, no surprises.

"Just ok"
Debbie K, 11 Août 2023

Just ok! Wasn't what we were expecting. Went from 5* hotels on our trip to our final days travelling and stay in Rome to this! This hotel needs some serious work done to it. The room was small, only had one plug socket that worked. The bed was brick hard! Considering this comes under a Best Western hotel, it really wasn't what we were expecting! The staff are very nice though, especially the breakfast staff. There actually was quite a good choice for breakfast! The location was ok, about a 15min walk to subway but the area was a bit run down, rubbish lying around streets, smelly! There is some nice restaurants close by though. In all, the hotel was ok but I wouldn't rush back!

"Wonderful staff and location"
Georgia C, 19 Juin 2023

This was our first time in Italy. The staff at this hotel were absolutely amazing from start to finish. They helped us plan day trips, they helped us get tickets for different sites, they were very accommodating with our needs for food choices, and things to do while we were in Rome. I cannot say enough good things about the staff here, plus the breakfast was so delicious. They are in a great location with restaurants all within 2 to 3 blocks of the hotel.

"Good Experience"
John T, 13 Mai 2023

The rooms were clean comfortable room. The hotel staff were friendly and provided excellent customer service. Breakfast buffet was fantastic and the morning breakfast staff attentive and friendly. The location worked great for us. Close to the train station and public transportation. Many local restaurants and eateries close by to choose from. truants

"Roman Holiday"
James M, 27 Avril 2023

Good location for the price. Hotel was clean and safe. Staff was able to communicate in every language. Several great restaurants nearby. Buffet breakfast was fresh and had excellent selection. American and Italian coffees were available.

"Breakfast was the best part of stay."
scotttJ4721ZQ, 07 Avril 2023

The hotel is in a good location about 10 minutes walk from Termini. The bed was comfortable and the room seemed larger than many we stayed in in Italy. There was a step up into the bathroom which we found as a tripping hazard. Our room was a first floor (second floor to those in US) corner room. There was a lot of street noise at night, people, cars, and garbage trucks about 4:00 each morning. Reception staff was efficient but not particularly friendly. Breakfast was the highlight of the stay. Lots of variety, good pastries, fresh fruit, juices, cooked eggs, meats and cheeses. We had cappucinos each morning that were delicious. The woman working the breakfast room was very friendly and attentive to everyones needs. Breakfast cost extra but worth it compared to what you got and what you would pay elsewhere.

"Keep going!"
912marh, 06 Avril 2023

Stayed in this Hotel in the end of March, early April. Had booked a double and a single room, which overlooked Via Palestro. This street, though mainly quiet, could sometimes erupt in late night noise bursts (luckily short ones). The Hotel is at walking distance from Roma Termini station and nearby metro station, so a good point of access to city center, Vatican, etc. The reception staff is professional and willing to assist. I would like to mention Gioi and Antonio for their assistance and kind attitude. They add lots of charm and good mood to this Hotel! Breakfasts are good, although could be richer when compared to other 4 star hotels. The staff is kind and great in communication. Overall, the hotel is slightly outdated, which you feel in its every corner, but given the cost/quality ratio it is still acceptable in this area of Rome.

"Super clean and friendly staff!"
hopper1008, 12 Janvier 2023

The breakfast was pheromonal, the staff was super helpful as well. Loved the small boutique feel of the hotel. Also, it seems very well maintained. The hotel is located just a short walk from Roma Termini.

"There and back again"
Happytrvler2, 14 Décembre 2022

The hotel is in a great location. Close to Termini but not too close. The location, staff, cleanliness and mattresses made the booking perfect for us. Also the restaurant connected to the hotel had a good selection of breakfast food options for 10 euros to get the day started. This is our second time staying here. The little mini mart across the street came in handy too.

"AVOID!!!"
A6247IPdougb, 30 Septembre 2022

Worst hotel experience I have ever had. I spilled wine next to night stand and left minor stain on the wall that could easily have been removed with stain remover. The next day I was locked out of my room with my luggage still inside and was not allowed back into the room till I paid additional 150.00 euros. I would seriously avoid this hotel.

"Disappointment"
671sripathir, 17 Septembre 2022

We were disappointed with the hotel on various counts. On arrival we were told that we had not paid even when we showed our vouchers. After an inordinate delay we were given a room which was small. The breakfast in the hotel is not at all satisfactory.

"Clean Property and great location"
Nicholas B, 01 Juillet 2022

Stayed here for 5 nights in June of 2022. We arrived early and were able to get into our room. Rooms are small but so are most in Europe. Staff was friendly and attentive. Enjoyed having breakfast available. What stood out most to us was the location was great. Close enough to be able to walk to all you want to see walk to, but far enough away to feel out of the fray. Really good restaurants nearby as well.

"Cute & Quaint Hotel"
Shajan C, 05 Juin 2022

Antonio at the front desk was amazing! From the time we stepped on the property until the time we left, he made us feel welcomed and valued. He was extremely helpful and went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Although my room was a little small to share with someone other than a spouse, it was quaint, clean and comfortable. There were tons of places nearby to get food and groceries and shopping was only an 8-10 minute taxi ride. The front desk was very helpful in calling a taxi whenever we needed one and they would be there in minutes. The staff was extremely helpful, patient and attentive. They made great recommendations about things to do, places to eat and the best way to get around. I would definitely stay at the Best Western Hotel Artdeco again.

"Great value for money"
625helih, 23 Mai 2022

Everything was great! Nice location, beautiful interior, comfortable beds, clean room, superb breakfast, nice size bathroom, good air-conditioning. We had unforgettable vacation in Rome and in Hotel Art Deco! Great recommendation to this hotel.

"Stay away from this hotel"
BV20002170, 21 Mai 2022

Upon arrival, we got keys to a room. When we walked into the room, there was luggage from another person. Apparently the room was taken and they gave us the wrong key. So much for security. The second room we got was dark and plain dirty. Walls full of black and other stripes, mold in the bathroom, open parts in the ceilings and so on. The corridors had open electrical wiring with no protection. The “hotel parking” is normal street parking, or a garage further down the road that doesn't belong to the hotel either. The sign “do not disturb” doesn't mean anything in this hotel. The cleaners came in anyways and we could even see they had gone through our luggage and bathroom stuff. They “cleaned” the room, but an old towel was left in the bathtub, with personal belongings underneath it (Chanel perfume and cosmetics, scissors etc - things we don't put on the floor of a bathtub ourselves). No idea if someone had the idea to sneak the items out of the room in the “dirty towel for the laundry”, but again not a comfortable feeling at all. Stay away from this sorry excuse for a hotel. They carry 4 stars, but it's worth 2 at best.

"Very clean, well-maintained Best Western Hotel not far from the main train station"
morocco_traveller, 04 Mars 2022

This is a very well-located hotel not far from the main train station—about a 7 minute walk. It is well-maintained with good sized rooms for Italy. I stayed here 17 nights in March 2022. Everything in the room worked well. The bathroom was a little small but normal again for European standards. It had a very good shower and bathtub combination and the bathtub had jets built into it. The included breakfast with my rate plan was very good and included scrambled eggs, ham and cheese, toast, a good selection of pastries, coffee, and juices. The breakfast service staff was excellent. The front desk staff was excellent and very helpful. All of the employees seemed to be multi lingual. It was very convenient for Uber rides. It was also easy to walk to a variety of tourist locations in the area. Maid service was excellent and the room was cleaned daily. The room had a smaller flat screen television with Italian channels. There were two beds in the room that could be combined to make a king size bed. The beds were firm but very comfortable. There are two small elevators for the four floors and a sitting room on the first floor. The Wi-Fi worked quite well and I had no trouble streaming things with it. There are a large number of restaurants within very easy walking distance, some about one minute. I would definitely stay here again.

"Perfect location, good and clean hotel."
arvydas2022, 02 Mars 2022

The location is perfect. I could reach all major attractions in 20 min by foot and the Bioparco di Roma, near from the main station Termini and the underground. The staff very professional, friendly and helpful, all receptionists were kind and helpful. The room is clean, very simple but has almost everything one can need. Comfortable, big bathroom were very welcome.

"Disappointing"
Aroy100, 06 Novembre 2021

Although inexpensive it was still not good value for money. One could do better in Rome. Most disappointing was the lack of transparency in charging for what is usually a complimentary bottle of water (the only item in the minibar). So that's €4 a day for two unsuspecting ordinary bottles. The internet is okay if you can get a wifi signal. The location is not so close as some of its competing hotels in the vicinity of Termini. Last, expect no special favors if you are in the Best Western loyalty program.

"Nice"
PRMami007, 04 Novembre 2021

Very nice. Had shops near to eat and drink. Antonio, desk person, was do friendly and welcoming. He immediately took care of my needs. Location: I was able to walk to Trevi Fountain (about a mile away) but was bery pleasant walk. I was able to enjoy the surroundings, shops and restaurants. Say hi to him for me! My room was nice and clean. Shower had nice hot water.

"great stay in Roma"
13221maryi, 22 Février 2020

We were a group of 48 Americans and we stayed for 5 nights at this hotel. The staff all spoke English and were very attentive to our needs. The lobby was small for 48 but would be great for smaller groups. The rooms vary in size from very small to really nice sized, although we had to move one couple because the shower was too small for anyone but a child or a very thin person. Others had a large tub and were very happy. The beds were very comfortable if you love an extra firm mattress, which I do! The staff was very accommodating to our requests for a different room and even provided a wheelchair for our use for 4 days, even when we traveled to Florence for the day! Two days we requested bag breakfasts and were provided with an ample breakfast to take away. The breakfast in the hotel was great with delicious eggs and meats and good bread, yogurt and cereal and fruits. They had soy milk for our lactose-free friend, gluten-free choices and plentiful coffee and tea. The staff called for taxis who arrived quickly whenever we wanted to go out at night. The location was good if you plan to use the train station (Termini) or subway and there were several restaurants 3 to 4 blocks away from the hotel. The restaurant in the hotel was closed for renovations but they opened the bar at night so we had a place to relax and talk at the end of the day. All in all, we had a great stay.

"Great hotel, central enough"
calou84523, 09 Décembre 2019

The BW Hotel Artdeco is a very pleasant hotel which is central enough to allow easy access to most tourist points of interest. The "free" hotel breakfast was great but when I began planning my 2020 vacation in Rome and checked out this hotel it appears that they DO NOT offer "free" breakfast except in association with the more expensive rooms . . . . breakfast is now 5 euros pp in the more modest accommodations which, to me, make this hotel a less attractive deal.

"Worst hotel ever"
sorinah630, 30 Novembre 2019

have had an horrible experience! the room was so cold i woke up with a flu and sore throat, room is run down, with scratches on the wall, cheap and scratched furniture, bathroom tiles had holes in it,i got a triple instead of a double

"Disappointing"
W590DSbillc, 29 Novembre 2019

Hotel is def not a four star and overpriced for what it is. Location not ideal, and the Giancarlo at the front desk is just rude. You can do much better. All I can say is that it was clean. That said, a good restaurant called Da Vicenzo is close by.

"Good hotel in Rome"
bates49445, 19 Novembre 2019

We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel ArtDeco in Rome before boarding a ship for a transatlantic cruise. The hotel is in a good location for safety and has many embassies in the area. Even though we arrived early our rooms were ready so we could check in and rest after the flight. The room was small but clean and had a desk area. The bathroom was nice with a shower in the tub. The tub was verydeep so was a little hard to get in. The beds were very comfortable and I slept very well. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. There were many excellent restaurants within walking distance. There was no shopping in the area except for cafes and delis. Breakfast at the hotel was only 5 euros per day and was quite good. The scrambled eggs were very tasty. I would stay here again, it was very nice.

"Central location Nice Breakfast"
TL K, 01 Novembre 2019

Reasonably priced breakfast (5 Euros) and our room had a bathtub which was awesome. Staff were friendly and spoke English well (including the staff in the restaurant). Quiet, clean room that accommodated three people nicely.

"Medium"
Marjo9999, 28 Octobre 2019

I was given a room that was already filled with someone stuff. Then I got another room that smelled like sigarette smoke. The wifi does not work in my room... Location is fine. Mini bar has no snacks. No iron.

"First time to Italy"
wendy349, 21 Octobre 2019

With this being our first trip to Italy/Europe we found this hotel to be both clean and a great location for our short visit. Some of the staff could have been a little bit more friendly. But overall we had a great two nights sleep and a breakfast waiting for us in the morning.

"Visit of Rome on vacation (room 306)"
marco1noel, 20 Octobre 2019

We were here for 3 days (Oct 18-21) before going on a cruise of the Greek Islands. Really clean room with a king size bed. Very comfortable. Bathroom is very clean. Room is small if you have lots of luggage but it's manageable. Walls are thin (old building) and you can hear other people talk in other rooms but luckily for us, we had good neighbours not too disturbing. 10 min walk from Roma Termini (train/bus terminal/hop on-hop off city sightseeing). Walking distance from nice museums. Close to really nice restaurants. Staff is friendly and helpful. Be aware that check-in time is not before 2pm and check out time is 11am. We got to the hotel at 11am and waited for our room in the adjacent waiting room with some couches and chairs. Luckily for us, our room was ready at 12h30pm but we were told this was exceptional as during busy periods, it can be as late as 4pm.

"Mixed review from this traveler"
TerriW836, 20 Octobre 2019

This was part of a package booked through my travel agent, bundled with the air fare. Best western is not a brand I ever stay with. The Staff were very professional and courteous, gave directions, And called cabs when we needed. Breakfast was honestly one of the best I've had at a hotel. The eggs were fantastic, good selection of choices of breakfast foods. However, only two outlets in the entire room where we could charge things. We were charging things in the bathroom! WiFi SUCKS. Could not get online, or the connection would drop constantly. Another strange quirk and I know it is to not waste electricity - There is a little key card slot by the door when you first come in. If you don't put your key in, you have no power! Imagine my surprise when we left (with our keys), leaving a device plugged in to charge, and when we returned nothing was charged. Took a while to figure out, but was not just the lights, but the power to the outlets that you had to have your key card in that little slot to be able to use. So... staff and breakfast are great, rooms clean but small - I think that's a Europe thing, but you need more accessible power and WiFi needs a major upgrade.

"Poor room, good breakfast"
Dan S, 28 Septembre 2019

The room was awful. Seriously needs redecorating, and generally upgrading. If you are on the 4th floor, then this is not a 4* hotel based on our room. The bathroom was so small it was almost impossible for 2 people to be in there at the same time. There were also exposed wires on the hairdryer, which was about as powerful as an asthmatic ant climbing a steep hill with two bags of heavy shopping! A plaster was left in my friends bed when it was made up!. The breakfast was the only good thing. The food was good quality, and a good selection. Will not stay here again.

"very good hotel close to termini station"
Daniel L, 24 Septembre 2019

I spend 6 nights during last month. The personnel is very helpfull. The hotel has a dining room which offer a very goog breakfast. lunch and dinner but for that service start at 7h30pm late but it is the commun way in Rome. Only one bad note fot the wifi signal which is very inequal in the building. Surprising for a 4 stars hotel. Otherwise my room was clean and well equipped and the bed was firm and cosy. The price is good and we are in a safe place with the british, turkey and russia ambassies close the hotel

"Great base for exploring Rome!"
Helen M, 06 Septembre 2019

Stayed at the Art Deco and couldn't fault it. Rooms were well sized and came with a bathtub which was an absolute treat after a day walking. Bed was also so comfortable and gave a really comfy nights sleep. Staff were very friendly and helpful and took the time to chat to guests - especially those that were travelling to Rome solo which I thought was fantastic. Special mention also to the lady on reception who got our laundry back on the day before were due to check out. The breakfast was great - so much choice! The vegetable pies (quiches) were amazing and I found the breakfast was so good that I didn't need lunch. Also, if you wanted tea - the staff came with a little pot of boiling water to ensure you got more than one cup. Rooms were well kept and clean too.'The hotel itself is a great base for exploring Rome - it is situated 10 mins from the termini and about 15 mins from some of the sites. I was impressed. There was only a few minor things pick up on - laundry service is expensive; we didn't check the prices so we got a little surprise and the last was that the fruit at breakfast had some flies circulating round it. (I personally never noticed this but my partner did). Apart from this, I thought the hotel was excellent and I would recommend it! Grazie!

"No issues at all. Just as you want."
CSpaace, 22 Août 2019

Spent four nights in August and was given corner room with street views. No complaints. Rooms are clean. Cleaning and restaurant staff are very polite and helpful. Kids enjoyed bath tub too. Breakfast is usual items. Location is about 8-10min walk from train station.

"couldn't fault it"
JoolnSteve, 18 Août 2019

We had a family room for four which was spacious and we were grateful for the mini fridge. The staff were helpful and friendly, they spoke English very well. The breakfast was good value with plenty of choice and was tasty. The hotel is well situated for the bus and train station and there are several road side restaurants and gelaterias within an easy walk.

"A very cosy room..."
Sketchbooka, 11 Août 2019

Excellent value for money. Four of us adults in a family room, however the Kingsize bed as stated on the reservation was two singles, and the two singles were part of a small sofa bed which was fine for our overnight stop, and because we are not especially large guests they were comfortable but a little cramped, but it might have not been so good for others. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room as stated and when I enquired, was told that these needed to be requested. As we were late arriving the night porter had no access to them. They were promised to be delivered next morning but no tea making facilities ever arrived. However the breakfast at the hotel was excellent value, and service was prompt hand helpful. A small remark, but had these been addressed it would have been an excellent stay.

"There's a bathtub!!!"
CrossingtheUS, 07 Août 2019

I know it's a strange title for a review but after spending four weeks in Europe in three different hotels and on two cruises, I was thrilled to discover a bathtub. You don't realize how much you miss a bathtub until one isn't available. During our two night stay, I had the best sleep of our month long vacation. The room had high vaulted ceilings which gave the room a sense of airiness. The decor was unique which made for a pleasant stay. There were shutters inside the room to block the darkness out. The location is great as it is a ten minute walk, with luggage, to the train station. A short walk away was a cafe with the best Sicilian cannolis and tiramisu. We are "walkers" and were able to use the hotel as a "base camp" for visiting popular tourist sights, such as, the Pantheon and the Coliseum. Should we visit Rome again, we would definitely consider staying here again.

"Good value "
cpnytravel, 28 Juillet 2019

This fit the bill for our group (3 rooms). Convenient to Termini Station. About a 30 minute walk to most tourist areas. Small breakfast buffet for 5 euros - with terrific wait staff - which included coffee, cappuccino, espresso, hot chocolate. (Hotels we'd stayed at previously charged 15 euros.) Laundry service was expensive (no self serve) so we took a duffle bag full to a laundromat 3-4 blocks away who washed, dried and folded it in less than 2 hours for 15 euros. Overall, good experience without paying exorbitant city prices. Only caution is that the elevator is very small and there are steps in some hallways. Not a great place if you're not mobile.

"Not really Best Western, only name branding"
370zena, 28 Juillet 2019

Room on 4th floor, had to take 2 elevators to get to room. Very dated rooms, shower design is not efficient, water pooling all over the floor. Very disappointed in Best Western's customer service, NONE. They had me as double booked for 4 nights, website went down during reservation, refuse to refund anything. Best Western Corporation was not helpful at all, during check-in they promised to help by investigation, but afterwards, not willing to listen or help. The hotel only use the name as branding.

"Perfect location, very helpful staff!"
923AndreaW, 21 Juillet 2019

The Hotel Artdeco was very conveniently located for walking around Rome and also accessing both the Castro Pretoria and Termini train stations. The bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean. The staff were great and always so helpful with directions and suggestions. There were many good restaurants in the area as well. Our room temperature was great but our traveling companions had a room on the top floor that never got very cool. The staff were quick to bring up a fan which made sleeping comfortable. We would go back to this hotel again.

"Great little hotel"
Austin B, 16 Juillet 2019

If you have your days fully booked like we did and only needed somewhere clean, safe, and comfortable to sleep then this hotel is perfect. The rooms are very small but for a couple it was actually very romantic and refreshing being in such a tight room. The breakfast is very good and well priced, staff was extremely friendly and the hotel inside is beautiful. I highly recommend this room if your not spending tons of time here, which you shouldn't when your have all of Rome to see and enjoy!

"Art Deco Roma"
rlbrad, 05 Juillet 2019

This is great hotel with excellent customer service! The rooms are well decorated and is convenient to the Metro station and walkable to the major historic Rome sites. There are many styles of restaurants and coffee shops nearby.

"Good location. Interesting Decor."
dgs127, 07 Juin 2019

Nice hotel near metro. King bed Room and bathroom was very large by European standards. I really liked looking at all the Art Deco furnishings throughout the hotel. The breakfast was good and the pot of coffee was tasty.

"Lovely Hotel and Staff"
Rodolfo R, 29 Mai 2019

Close to Termini Station and Borghese Park. You can walk to several spots in Rome. Room is huge and comfortable. Nice bed and some amenities. Staff is great. Everyone. They will do their best to help you. Breakfast was not included, but you can pay at the hotel. It's good with lots of options. The streets close to the hotel are a bit empty during the night. You won't feel very safe, but I didn't have any problem. Would certainly stay again and recommend.

"Great stay"
chellehowl, 29 Mai 2019

Great breakfast and very reasonably priced. Our room was clean and very nice. Great water pressure and the shower was refreshing after a day walking the streets of Rome. The hotel internet was a great signal and reliable.

"Wifi Didn't Work In Basement"
54allyt, 23 Mai 2019

This hotel is older and definitely needs a revamp. My room happened to be in the basement, where there was no elevator access. I was traveling with a lot of luggage and this was incredibly inconvenient. The Wifi didn't even reach into the basement, which is completely unacceptable. The hotel was part of a Triple A travel package so we didn't have much of a choice. I would not reccomend staying here. The breakfast was a great deal at 5 euros a person.

"Great hotel, wonderful service!"
P5668MNpatriciam, 19 Mai 2019

It is not in the heart of the action, but close to trains and buses. Hop on Hop off stop is also not too far. It is a beautiful hotel with a very good breakfast and the staff was always helpful and happy. Nice place to stay, I would recommend to everyone. Being a travel agent I will keep this on file for my clients as well.

"Location & quality"
Asiadream, 14 Mai 2019

A good basic hotel, 10 minutes from Termini. Breakfast was good. Rooms were clean. We were pleased with the desk staff and servers. Price was reasonable for Rome. The hotel is kept up well. But the main thing for me was location.

"Mari gad"
Mari G, 07 Mai 2019

Wonderful hotel. Gorgeous breakfast. Best scrambled egg I've ever had! Beautiful room pleasant environment. Lovely staff. Helped me choose fabulous cheese shop for take home pressies. Couldn't recommend the hotel enough. Thank you for a great stay

"Good location for a night or two"
Mohammed F, 22 Avril 2019

Stayed here on our way back from Rome. Its a 10 minute walk from Termini and close to all transport hubs. Hotel room was comfortable and of good size. Hotel is dated and had strong odour of cleaning liquid in the room. We could hear noise from corridors as partitions were not very sound proof. Not sure about the area although felt safe overall. Staff are really good and helpful. The front desk lady who checked us in kindly arranged a packed breakfast for us as we arrived early. The reception will arrange a taxi and called us a taxi within minutes at early hours in the morning.

"good location"
Daydream04558240244, 01 Avril 2019

The location of the hotel is really great, surrounded by really good restaurants. If you are new to the city it is highly recommended, although the WiFi is little weak on the 5th floor. Central station and metro station in on walking distance.

"A nice Little hotel"
jolenek403, 10 Mars 2019

This hotel was perfect for what I needed it to be. The rooms are nice and clean and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was good. However I wouldn't suggest eating in the restaurant there as you can definitely get better food in Rome. However it's a good place to stay. It's close to trainstations, busstops and subways.

"Good and quiet location"
javanese2001, 25 Février 2019

Came in pretty late from the airport, but was welcomed and checked in promptly. Room was a bit on the small side, but for a very reasonable price. Approx. 15 minutes walking distance to Roma Termini, but in a fairly quiet road. Internet connection worked flawlessly.

"Great Place cannot Fault it"
31garyr, 28 Janvier 2019

We stayed here for 2 nights and could not fault it, Staff are very friendly. Rooms are very clean, the Breakfast is great value, the evening meal was excellent quality and could not be faulted Chef and staff all very friendly would 100% go back.

"Just what we needed; be prepared to walk!"
Leslie E, 17 Janvier 2019

This is a decent hotel in a tucked away northeast corner of Rome; it is near enough to the train terminal and it is between hotels and neighborhoods and tucked away restaurants. We either took a cab to get to the main tourist sites, or walked...so we walked a lot! Staff was very nice and accomodating. Everything was very clean. It just isn't a total luxury place if that is what you are looking for.

"A cosy place in the centre of Rome"
LeysanN1, 17 Janvier 2019

We stayed in this hotel during Christmas holidays and enjoyed it a lot. The room was very cosy, with a nice design, the housekeeping is good too, super clean. Had a bathroom in our room. The reception was very nice and helpful. The breakfast is homemade like, food is really good. And the staff is very friendly. We asked for some boiled water and they brought us a kettle and a tea tray with everything needed. The bonus is the location, close to Termini, but feels quite safe, a walking distance to many places of interest. Lots of quality food around, cafés and restaurants, I mean. A good choice for reasonable price.

"Great for visiting Rome centre."
RULESSouthampton, 15 Janvier 2019

Nice hotel although we did have at first a fairly noisy ground floor room where road works were taking place directly outside the window. We did go to reception and express our unhappiness and they dealt with it straight away and moved us to a higher room on the second floor, problem over. There is a superb ice cream parlour one road along which opened til very late and turned me into an ice cream fan.

"Good for a one-night stay"
Dario2788, 09 Décembre 2018

The hotel is 10 minutes walking from the train station. The neighborhood is full of restaurants. Within walking distance from many touristic attractions. The room was small but clean and quiet. Fascinating vintage furniture, as the hotel name suggests, but the building has clearly seen better times. WiFi was a bit slow. Breakfast included a plus.

"Great staff and nice rooms"
AW19602014, 09 Décembre 2018

Had a 4 night stay at this hotel before a cruise. We had a great room which was on 1st floor above reception. It was a corner room with lots of room and very clean and quiet. The staff were very nice. Breakfast was good but slow to replenish anything that had run out. Coffee was served by the staff and sometimes took a long time to be served. Overall a great stay.

"Good hotel but not 4 stars"
Y3918DXgeorgec, 09 Décembre 2018

I'd give a 5 star review if only it weren't for the deceiving 4 star hotel class rating. It was probably a 4 star hotel 20 years ago. Today 3 stars is probably more accurate. The hotel is quite dated yet still clean overall. The room was small but had everything I needed and nothing more. Great location 10 min from main train station so it was convenient but far enough away to avoid the tourist trap restaurants. Checkout pizzeria Al 39 down the block for dinner. It was absolutely delicious.

"Coffee Questions!"
MWKW2015, 21 Novembre 2018

We stayed at this Hotel Artdeco, while on our honeymoon. We had a wonderful time! The rooms were very clean and the staff were very patient (our Italian was very limited). We wanted to ask, does anyone know what coffee brand they use? The coffee was out of this world! I wanted to order it as a Christmas gift. Any help you can offer in this regard, would be greatly appreciated!!!

"Exactly what I needed"
binsca, 04 Novembre 2018

I reserved a single room and that is exactly what I got. A small room with a single bed. When I first walked in, I thought "Oh my goodness, this room is so small." BUT after my first night there I realized I didn't need anything more. I was spending most of my day sightseeing, not hanging out in the room so it worked out great for me. The room was exactly what I needed - very functional and clean with a comfortable bed, a luggage rack, a desk and chair, large closet, nice bathroom, huge safe. I thought the included breakfast was nice. This hotel had one of the best varieties of fresh fruits offered at any of the hotels I stayed at while in Rome and Sicily on this trip. And the staff in the breakfast room are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is maybe 6-8 blocks from the Rome Termini train station which is convenient, and there are plenty of little ristorantes all around just two or three blocks in any direction you walk. I found the front desk staff to be professional and friendly enough, but very no-nonsense. They take care of you and quickly send you on your way. But they did seem to always greet me when I came in the doors from my daily adventures. A couple things to note: -The safe was not bolted down! It was inside the closet and seriously, it was the largest safe I have ever encountered in a hotel room so that was really nice - my ipad fit inside. No thief is going to just casually walk out of the hotel with a safe that large, but still I found it odd that it was not bolted down. Maybe it was secured in a different way, maybe with a cable or something, but it definitely was not bolted down. -I think my room was 114. I usually sleep with ear plugs and don't know why I didn't this time, but I should have. This room must have been over the kitchen or something because it got super noisy around 6-6:30 AM, so any person booking a single room at this hotel I would advise requesting a room on a higher floor. Room 114 is just too noisy early in the morning. Overall, I had a good stay here. The location worked out well for me and my objectives on this trip. And the room was functional and comfortable. That was exactly what I needed.

"Disappointing"
bola9er, 30 Octobre 2018

We thought we would have better with a Best Western. It looks seedy and old and worn. While the room was clean, it was tiny for 2 people. We were very disappointing and wouldn't stay a second night. Don't book here there must be better around. It says close to Spanish Steps - NOT

"Small room........could not swing a cat in it"
Carol W, 26 Octobre 2018

The web site was very misleading...as you will see we are world travellers and very odd for us to make an error on where the hotel is located we thought that it was closer to the Spanish steps than it said on the web site we had booked for two nights but they were very gracious and let us off the second night...the breakfast was wonderful and the staff were 4 star so good for them shame that it was not what we expected shame...

"Pleasant stay"
amandine w, 26 Octobre 2018

We've been welcomed by a pleasant and smiling staff Every thing was all right Nice and clean hotel Well come back Recommended 100% The only negative point would be the price of the city taxe that cost 6€ per person per day

"Nice hotel, good neighborhood, close to Metro"
cheeseheads92, 22 Octobre 2018

We stayed for three nights, as a package deal. It was a very nice hotel, centrally located. We took a shared taxi from airport, which was fun and allowed us to relax a bit while seeing the sights. The metro station was only a few blocks away, and we purchased a multi-day pass to see all of Rome. The staff at the hotel gave us some good tips on what to see (as we had already done the "must see" on our previous trips to Rome) and they were very accommodating when we arrived quite early in the day. We stored our luggage, and headed back out for the day. The rooms were very nicely appointed. The shower was small, but functional and overall bath size was good. The AC worked well, and the rooms were very quiet. The breakfast and staff were very nice. Michela was so friendly each morning -- and even supplied me with a few Band-aids when I inquired about where to purchase some close by the hotel! There are many restaurants, shops and stores (grocery included) on the way to the metro. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my travel planner for any one else traveling to Rome!

"Spacious, Clean"
Alrobert722, 03 Octobre 2018

The rooms are massive compared to other European hotels we had stayed at. The tub was phenomenal and much needed after a few days on our feet all day. Breakfast is not included but is cheap and decent tasting. Close walking distance to a main metro, a really cheap souvenir/market, and some really nice restaurants.

"Bit far out…"
Lucie A, 27 Septembre 2018

Hotel was nice enough, staff friendly & helpful. Very kindly upgraded our room for our wedding anniversary. If you're looking to stay “in the thick of it” then this is probably a bit far out, but you'll be spending a lot more. On the plus side it was pretty quiet & a reasonably easy walk from Termini station. There are several restaurants, bars & coffee shops in the local area.

"Rome vacation"
Passport423600, 27 Septembre 2018

This was a nice quaint little place. The staff was very knowledgeable and attentive. They had a daily 5 Euros breakfast that had a wide variety, the dinner menu could use an upgrade. I would I definitely recommend this hotel, it's also close to the termini near everything, restaurants, shop...

"Rome holiday"
beclauw, 24 Septembre 2018

Great place to stay. Close to all the main sites. Easy walking distance to all we wanted to see. Safe, quiet area with plenty of eateries/restaurants. Best late night coffee/pizza/pastry place less than 3 min walk hidden down some stairs....just ask the staff to point you in the right direction. Perfecto.

"Comfortable and Convenient"
Carole N, 05 Septembre 2018

Great front desk staff- enormously helpful and very pleasant! Breakfast was terrific and servers very friendly. Room was adequate and comfortable. The hotel is a little "tired" and could use an upgrade regarding carpets and lighting. We couldn't figure out how to use the rather antique elevators so we took the stairs but that was OK. Also, we had to get used to using the room key to control the lights but we adjusted. All in all- the hotel was fine and served our purposes, no problem.

"Great"
Erica K, 01 Septembre 2018

Great stay . Rooms were clean updated and hotel was well located . Close to train and most main attractions. Would stay again for sure . Front desk was very helpful making reservations also and lending s hand with directions

"Simple, but nice"
Josefina G, 28 Août 2018

Stayed at this hotel with a friend. Rooms are compact, but comfortable, location is very good and service and staff excellent. Easy walk to restaurants, train station and tourist attractions. Absolutely within walking distance to the biggest cathedral in Rome and the coliseum.

"Excellent "
Danielhg84, 28 Août 2018

I stayed here for 3 nights with my partner and his parents. This hotel was very central, nice decor, friendly and very helpful staff that made you feel welcome. They were very accommodating with everything. Rooms were very comfortable and we slept very well and there was no noise. Continental breakfast was fresh and enjoyable. 10 minutes walk from Termini station & Tour buses. Lots of nice restaurants nearby. We will come back to this hotel.

"Great Hotel"
Passport-Kid, 24 Août 2018

Overall this is a great clean hotel is a safe area. The front desk was extremely helpful and the rooms are pretty big for European standards. We walked the first day to Treve Fountain, Pantheon, Spanish steps, however walking to the Vatican or the Colosseum is far. We took a taxi to both those attractions. It is close to the main train station and a taxi to the airport (FCO) is about 50 euros.

"Great value,nice rooms"
Lou S, 18 Août 2018

The hotel is pretty centrally located, clean and the staff are friendly. Great free breakfast. Our room was small by American hotel standards but very comfortable and air-conditioned. The elevator is a hoot, bearly big enough for 2 people but there is another that is larger but it only goes up to the 4th floor.

"Overall very nice"
Dan F, 13 Août 2018

Nice, clean, friendly and helpful staff. Convenient to the metro and easy to get to most points of interest. Nice little neighborhood with many excellent t restaurants. Great place for the money; very comfortable.

"Good stay"
Maallika M, 05 Août 2018

Very well connected to the train station of rome.walking distance from it. Nice stay. Rooms were good and bathrooms were clean. Staff accomodating and helpful to guide you around town. Old world charm maintained.

"Friendly but hot and not 4 stars"
Mayan D, 03 Août 2018

I decided to book here because of the low price expecting the basic amenities with a little Italian charm. Pro: Safe, Secure, Friendly Staff, Very Clean, Private Bathroom, Fridge In Room (not adjustable but adequate), Good Local Food Nearby, Convenient to Public Transportation Con: Malfunctioning AC so room was hot and I didnt sleep well nor could I work in room, Slow Internet in room (was ok in lobby but inconvenient to take/make calls in lobby), older building with some basic maintenance issues, definitely not a 4 star property based upon any US standards.

"Really Best"
Pardeep C, 26 Juillet 2018

It was our last stop over in Europe. Very nice hotel having smiling and cooperative front desk staff. Good location with in walking distance major attractions of Roma. Would definitely recommend this hotel for budget and business travelers. Just one request to Hotel please update your hot and cold water system in bathrooms.

"Great location; great staff!"
larli, 16 Juillet 2018

This Best Western property is just perfect. Great price, clean and comfortable. Easy walk to the station and about 30 min stroll to the Colesseum. Safe neighbourhood with restaurants nearby. Staff were fantastic and friendly. Highly recommended.

"Handy for the station"
Jenni E, 12 Juillet 2018

This hotel was nicely presented although they were doing some renovation work when we stayed. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. The breakfast had a lot of choice and included some hot choices. We were on the 5th floor which meant we had to take 2 lifts as the lift on the ground floor did not go to the 5th the floor. The hotel is an easy walk to the station.

"This Hotel became our HOME for 9 days!"
Pam L, 04 Juillet 2018

My pilgrimage group came to this hotel as strangers to the staff, but we are now leaving as family! The staff was exceptional! The facilities were superb! The room was outstanding with a sweet view of the neighborhood. The breakfast was delicious with a wonderful variety of things to eat, and the waiters went above and beyond every single day to start our day off with a smile. There were incredible restaurants (and gelato) within walking distance of the the hotel, which we appreciated!

"Quick stay"
Sue- Elise F, 28 Juin 2018

We spent 1 night here but enjoyed our stay. They were very friendly and kept our luggage while we went on a day tour. When we returned our luggage was in our 2 triple rooms. We ate a lovely breakfast in the restaurant. My daughter left a bag at the hotel and the English speaking staff were very helpful and mailed her bag back to the US. (Of course we paid to ship.) This hotel is very close to Termini station.

"Spacious triple room, great location!"
Pamela P, 20 Juin 2018

We were very pleased with this hotel and our room. It's hard to make judgement based only on online reviews and being 5000 miles away in an area you are unfamiliar with. I fell some of the reviews here are a bit harsh. We had a fabulous experience and would most definitely book here again!! Location - A bit outside of the city center but a short walk from Termini Station which connects you by bus, train, metro or taxi to anywhere you want to go. The Colosseum is within walking distance if you don't mind a 20-30 minute walk. We walked anywhere we could. The city buses and metro can be pretty crowded. We took a shuttle van from the airport and they gave us a discount for the return trip which was not only cheaper but our own private car. It is close enough that if you do tours with pick up in the city it will be included. We had one of our tours pick us up right at the front door of the hotel. Staff - The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful and spoke English well. Check in was a breeze. We arrived early in the morning, too early for check in but they did store our luggage and deliver to our room. We were able to check in by about 1:00pm. The housekeeping staff did a great job. Rooms were very clean and some days they took my daughter's blanket she brought from home and folded it in fun decorative ways. Food - Breakfast at the hotel was 5 Euros. You can chose when you want to eat and only get charged for the days you eat. It was a nice variety and we ate there most days. They had hot eggs, potatoes and ham, many breads and pastries, cereals and fresh fruits. They made you a fresh coffee or cappuccino if you wished. There was a restaurant onsite for dinner but we never ate there just because we were always out and about at dinner time. Rooms - We had a triple room since we had 3 people. One double bed (very unique style - see photos) and one single bed. Beds were comfortable, always had a good nights sleep. Floors were laminate (no carpet), looked very new. Plenty of room to move around the beds. Rooms had a very large closet hangers and included a room safe, 2 night stand with drawers, a luggage rack, a desk, tv, mini-fridge with drinks for purchase and plenty of outlets (bring converters made for Italy...these are different then what other parts of Europe uses). Bathroom - Bathroom was large, big sink with an outlet close by. There was a jetted tub that felt great at the end of a long day walking and also a shower. Hair dryer was included. Windows - We had 2 large double windows that opened to outside air (no screens) and a street view (see photos) Elevators - 2 elevators for use if you are on a higher floor. They are both small, one only big enough for 2 people or 1 person and a suitcase. Most of the time we just opted to use the stairs. Wifi - Given a wifi password at check in and it worked just fine. Also had good international cell service reception in the room. Nearby - Plenty of restaurants nearby, a corner store right across the street to get fruit or drinks, a military post at the end of the block made us feel safe as no riff raff in the area. Never felt unsafe or threatened in any way in the area of the hotel. Note - the hotel seems to be getting facelift as there was scaffolding and roped off areas on the front side of the hotel. It did block our street view from one of our windows. This just didn't bother us. If work needs done on the building, then they need to do it. Everything else about the hotel was so worth the price and comfort that was only a small very minor inconvenience.

"Decent hotel"
365JB, 12 Juin 2018

We recently stayed here for 2 nights in room 218 which was classed as a ‘superior double'. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed and good air conditioning which was necessary in such hot weather. My only slight niggle would be the shower which was connected to the bath and a bit temperamental. Staff were very friendly helping out with directions etc. Breakfast was basic continental along with some cooked eggs but extremely good value for €5. There is a Metro station a 5 minute walk (Castro Pretorio) and Termini Station is about 10 minutes walk which allow easy access to the sights of the city. We bought a 48 hour ticket for €12.50 which was well worth it. Rome is an amazing city but make sure you take a good pair of walking shoes!

"Tiny Classic in a great location"
Pezrojo, 11 Juin 2018

The hotel is an art deco hotel meaning the style and design is perfect for the 30's. Room was tiny but we were only there to sleep so it worked out fine. The bathroom had great water pressure. The location is just blocks from several foreign consulates so there is a military presence close by. It is also within 5 minutes of the blue metro line and a great little cafe with deliciously strong coffee. Luca at the front desk was wonderful! Be careful at night as there are a few strange venues that open at night a few blocks away.

"Poor 4 star"
E R, 20 Mai 2018

Not what you expect for price paid. First room offered was on the lower ground floor and had mould on the wall. Advised reception that wanted to change immediately and they advised only one room left in hotel but it was small. Huge understatement... it was tiny. Not a normal 4 star size room. But no apology. On second day room cleaning staff left our fridge open so on our return after being out all day the floor was wet and bottom of our cases sodden. Again advised desk and they sent porter to clean (no apology) and he was a kind polite man and the first to apologise for experience up to then.

"Good Hotel"
Mary D, 11 Mai 2018

My daughter and I spend three nights here while in Rome. The hotel is in a safe area. The rooms are normal sized for Europe, clean, and comfortable. What was the best was the gentlemen at the front desk. They were extremely helpful. I would stay here again.

"Lovely hotel"
ShelbyMJ, 05 Mai 2018

My friend and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and found it a lovely place. It is close to the Termini Railway Station so we walked from the station and found it easily. The staff were very polite and helpful. We arrived late at the hotel on the Friday night, tired and hungry. They were clearing up the restaurant area, but rather than send us out to find somewhere to eat they kindly cooked us a meal which we could not have been more grateful for. Our room was on the second floor, very clean, but smaller than we had expected. We had a TV and a fridge, but my only criticism was that there was no kettle or option to make ourselves a hot drink in the room. The hotel has a true 1930's feel and the decor is beautiful, if a little tired looking. Would recommend a stay for a short break. We were told that breakfast was included when we arrived, but it may have been a mis communication as we had to pay for breakfast when we checked out. Breakfast was continental which is ok if you like that. The best thing about it was the coffee, it was lovely! The hotel is in a busy area and I did think it would be noisy at night and I would have trouble sleeping as I am a light sleeper, but I was pleasantly surprised that we could not hear any traffic or noise from other guests.

"Not exactly as expected"
Linda G, 29 Avril 2018

The parking is not across the street and advertised as a nominal fee. In actuality, it was a couple blocks away and the hotel discount is $25 per day. Since there really isn't anywhere to park, we left it in the garage. The room was a decent size but very stuffy due to air conditioning not working. Would probably not stay there again nor waste money on a rental. Public transportation very good and concierge was helpful with figuring best options to the sites.

"Noisy"
Eric C, 29 Avril 2018

You can hear noise from the ouside vehicles, receptionist does not have answer you politely. Room are small, aircon is ok, average on cleanliness, a little bit pricey or maybe it's because of the season. bellboys are ok.

"Hotel at the City Centre - near to Roma Termini Station "
Kanchan58, 29 Avril 2018

Hotel Best Western Artdeco is located in Via Palestro which is closer to Roma Termini railway station. But it's about a kilometre & half away - taxis refuse to ply from station because of short distance which results into guests alighting from trains to walk down. This hotel is also equally closer to Republica Metro Railway Station & also the Rome Central Bus Terminus. The front office staff members are very friendly & extremely helpful. Ms. Dominic in particular helped us quite a lot to settle down. The rooms are not very spacious but equipped with all modern amenities. Internet speed is quite well considering it's free wifi. The biggest advantage is that they have few smoking rooms as well. The breakfast spread for buffet was also reasonably good.

"Great Location, close to Termini!"
Sterling E, 23 Avril 2018

Lovely stay at the Best Western Artdeco! Best part about the hotel is the location. Close to the main station in Rome and you can practically get to anywhere from the Termini. Federica at the front desk checked me in and she was friendly. Good service. Dominique was the person that checked me out of the hotel. Very friendly as well. The hallway and elevators are very tight, which is a small pet peeve of mine. It can barely fit two people plus their luggage at most. That is being cramped up of course. Stayed in room 322 and it was decent. Bed was comfortable. An issue i did not like was the tiny capsule-like space for the shower. It was very tiny and gave you no room to move around. Aside the space, the water in the shower was quite irritating. It could not stay at one temperature. It would change from hot to cold to hot every five minutes and it was a nuisance. Overall, the location can't get any better and you have different options to explore at this prime location. However, the bathroom/shower issue in my room was very bothersome so i can't say i would book another night here.

"Great Location For Visit to Rome"
DaveK959, 22 Avril 2018

We had a wonderful time at the BW Art Deco Hotel on Via Palestro while visiting Rome. The location is great - walking distance to lots of restaurants and shopping. Also, very close to Termini Central Train Station and two different stops on the Subway - Castro Praetoria and Republica. The front desk staff was wonderful - had a great time chatting with Antonio, Frederika, Joey(sp) and Jonluca. There was another front desk person, but he was usually on in the morning and although he was always very nice I can't recall his name. Fabio was a terrific cocktail waiter and the young ladies at the breakfast service were very friendly and efficient. The maid service was outstanding, and the rooms we got were always spotless. The rooms were a bit small, but the bathrooms were huge, had a large bathtub and shower and even a jacuzzi in the tub. I would definitely recommend this boutique hotel, because of the knowledgeable service by the staff and the outstanding location. I would probably give it 5 stars if the rooms were a bit bigger and the elevators were larger. Looking forward to staying at the Art Deco next time we visit the Eternal City.

"Great and safe location"
yokielisa, 20 Avril 2018

My friend and I stayed here for 4 nights. The room is small but very clean with a wood floor. The bathtub is very high so it is difficult to get in and out of the tub. There is no kettle in the room but we can borrow from the front desk. We chose this hotel because it is about 15 minutes walk from Termini and the price is within our budget. As other reviewers said, the hotel is near an embassy therefore there are police patrolled in the neighborhood. We got a room at the 5th floor where you have to take an elevator from the lobby to the 4th floor and then change to another elevator to go to the 5th floor. This elevator is so small that can only fit 1 person with a luggage. The room is quiet so we had a good night sleep. We are coming from the airport using Leonardo Express train that stop directly at Termini. Since we arrived at Termini around 9 pm and it was dark outside we tried to take taxi to go to the hotel. However the taxi driver refused to take us because the hotel is very close and told us to just walk. Luckily we already had a data plan so we can use the google map to navigate us. The hotel is also located 10 minutes walk to Castro Pretorio station (blue line) that on the same line as Basilica Sao Paolo station. It is also very easy to go to the St. Peter Basilica (walk to Termini - take the red line to Ottaviano station- walk 15 minutes to the square). There is a small supermarket around 5 minutes from hotel.

"Good location, friendly staff"
escape_the_cold, 15 Avril 2018

We stayed at the BW Artdeco for 3 nights, and were happy with the hotel as a jumping point for site seeing in Rome. It is located about a 10-15 min walk away from the Termini train station, near several embassies in a quiet neighborhood. Although we didn't spend much time in the room, it was comfortable with large windows which we left open at night to help keep the room cool (A/C is only available seasonally). Front desk staff were friendly.

"How is this a four star hotel!"
Adam P, 11 Avril 2018

I am not sure where all the positive reviews came from, we were there last weekend and found it out dated, no ventilation in the room, other then a noisey Street side window, and a unfriendly staff. It was by far the worst hotel stay on our trip. The neighborhood is dirty, and is close to the train station but nothing else. I was very dissatisfied and disappointed in Best Western who has treated us much better in the past. Oh, and the WiFi was horrifically slow.

"Excellent Hotel!"
Samantha H, 07 Avril 2018

We stayed at this hotel for four nights in March as a getaway to explore the sights of Rome. We had a double room with ensuite on the fourth floor, a clean and tidy room with a window out onto the street below (we didn't notice any noise disturbance dispite this). The room was perfect for what we needed, hot powerful shower and a minibar stocked with water and soft drinks. We had booked a room only deal but decided to have breakfast a couple mornings during our stay; this was not a problem, with the hotel staff just recording when we had had breakfast and adding it to our bill. Breakfast was a continental breakfast with some cooked elements, very nice. The hotel staff were very helpful with good understanding of English, ready to advise on any needs: ours being such things as day trips, luggage storage and booking Taxi's. Overall a great hotel with excellent transport links given it's proximity to the termini station, which we would definitely revisit when we return to Rome!

"Good hotel"
irelandandapub, 03 Avril 2018

The staff was very friendly the room was nice over all great place for the price very close to main train station and some good places to eat around there! Breakfast is only 5 Euro and it was worth it

"Honeymoon "
Craig O, 02 Avril 2018

Myself and my wife came here for the second part of our honeymoon after staying 4 days in Venice, I have to say this hotel was amazing and excellent, can't fault it, room was amazingly clean and well presented, very comfy bed, choice for breakfast was fantastic, if ever in rome again my wife and I would love to stay here again, thank you to all the staff who made our stay highly enjoyable.

"Pretty good, but bring ear plugs"
Richard J, 27 Mars 2018

Great front desk staff. Restaurant staff OK, but they spend most of their time behind the wall... Hot pot if you ask for it, refrig in room. Shower door is only half so you will soak anything outside the shower. The one real down side it the walls. You can literally hear everything in the room next to you.

"Overall fairly positive"
LJL0673, 26 Mars 2018

Just returned from a few days in this hotel. Overall positive... good location, clean, great breakfast selection and helpful staff ... my sister is gluten free and the restaurant staff were so accommodating. Also we were allowed a late check out as we had an evening flight. Antonio at the front desk was most helpful in arranging for us to have adjoining rooms and arranging to have breakfast included as there was an issue with this when booking The location is within approximately a 20-30 min walking distance of many attractions and shops ... we walked to the Spanish steps, the Trevi Fountain etc etc but there are very good restaurants, cafes and mini markets very close by. Our only issue was that it was quite noisy and difficult to sleep from outside noise and also thin walls between rooms and there was a sound of water running! The bedrooms were tastefully decorated but I did feel the bathroom in one of our rooms was a little tired and could do with a makeover. We also were disappointed because we did ask the hotel staff to call a specific official cab driver to take us to the airport and even gave them his phone number to call for us but they arranged for a private driver of their choice who drove a lot of the way beeping and cursing at other drivers.... singing to loud music and stopping en route to fill up with gas.... a bit of a shock after so many fab official cab drivers in Rome !!!!

"They could do better than that "
Dvd_and_Rbt, 13 Mars 2018

I slept in this hotel in December and my overall experience was positive. Nevertheless, I must say that if they give you the room at the first floor near the stairs you won't be able to sleep and rest much. Regarding the breakfast, for an Italian, this is just mediocre and in fact on the last day I skipped it.

"Best Western Artdeco"
sandykmliverpool, 11 Mars 2018

Very nice boutique hotel. Easy to get to Metro. Walkable to many tourist sites. Great staff. Highly recommend. Beautiful first floor, nice decorations. Near embassy and guards, felt safe. Reasonable and worth staying at. Clean and comfortable room.

"The Best Western Artdeco Rome"
TravelLover4559, 07 Mars 2018

On 9/11/17 my husband & I traveled to Italy for the first time. We stayed at the Best Western Artdeco in Rome. We stayed there for 7 nights. It was a great hotel. Everyone there was very friendly and noliable. The room was nice & they had free wifi. They had a really good buffet breakfast. They had eggs potatoes, bagels, crossiants, fruit, pastries. They had italian hams, ceareal, juice, coffee, tea. Also it was in walking distance to the train station, restaurants, food market, shopping & subways & the Trevi Fountain. I highly recommend this hotel you won't be disappointed. TravelLover4/5/69

hunny s, 06 Mars 2018

I stayed there on 4th june 2016. Though late to review but my stay was super comfi. Location is almost central. Walking distance from important places and rlt stn. Bfast was awesome and sumptuous. Staff was very cooperative. Value for money. Grt place to be.

"Neat but Small"
Rashi D, 28 Février 2018

The hotel is centrally located, Trevi fountain, Roma Termini, Castro Pletario are all at a walking distance. We found the ropms pretty small. It's a 4 star hotel so you have to pay €6 extra per night , per person as tourist tax. Like any other European hotel thos one too offers a very small variety in vegetarian. Although there a quite a few restaurants nearby. The staff is very helpful. Our sightseeing bookings git cancelled at the last mo ment due to unexpected snow(yes, we were there to witness it ??) so the staff was very helpful in calling the agencies(multiple) and booking alternates.

"Very clean, good value & great location"
Tanzir M, 11 Février 2018

Stayed here 3 nights during our Rome trip. Very friendly staff, clean room and lobby. Location was good as well as we didn't have hard time to find a tax (use MyTaxi). They have two different elevator, one of them was really unique and scary! Our room was just front of that elevator on 3rd floor. We tried their business center (actually they just have a PC and printer) and everything worked pretty well. They have restaurant but we didn't try their food. Overall it was a clean hotel with friendly stuff. Good for 2-3 days trip and would stay here again if we visit Rome.

"Internet find"
Donna M, 27 Janvier 2018

We enjoyed our stay . The staff was helpful and the breakfast was reasonably priced. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. As all European hotels, the room was small, but lovely. There are good restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The best part was the easy walk to the train station and the first stop in the Hop -on , Hop off bus tour. It is a safe area as there are Embassies and guards nearby. (But be careful of a scam artist on the street who claims to know you.)It is Rome after all. I recommend this hotel.

"staff helpful, very clean "
tangowhiskey09, 20 Janvier 2018

Staff very helpful, stayed in room 202. very clean, lovely location, comfortable beds, great size. recommend to all. didn't eat here other than brekkie which was buffet. well placed hotel with nice choice of eateries nearby.

"Great price, close walk from Termini station, great customer service, clean"
Vani A, 13 Janvier 2018

The best thing about his place is how helpful the staff is. Dominique helped us figure out everything from where to eat to how to get to the airport. Antonio managed to make me crack up laughing, despite being in a bad mood with an early morning flight return time. The bartender gave a nice pour and let us linger in the bar past the closing time. Close to restaurants, markets, the subway, and Termini station.

"Hotel close centrum"
793villek, 03 Janvier 2018

Traditional hotel 10 minutes walk from Termini station. 500 meters from metro station close Turkish and Russian embassyes. Nice douple room with clean bathroom. Very professional and helpful reception personel. Good continental breakfast. Nice athmosphere, you are welcome

"OK But Don't Expect 4 Stars"
Zoom_Gotti, 01 Janvier 2018

This hotel is listed with four stars but, let me tell you, even 2 star hotels offer in-room coffee; not here, though. And the phone was locked into a date and time in 2011. Obviously the technology needs immediate updating. I did, though, find the hotel clean and quaint. And, if you search, it offers some throwback furnishings. Like something off the reception in a hall corridor called a phonograph with 78 rpm records. My room was small with rather dim lighting. Pillows were on the very firm side. But housekeeping was very efficient. I added 5 euro to my bill each day for a nice and varied hot breakfast. The hotel is located only a 10 minute walk from Termini with several consulates nearby. So there is visible evidence of active policing. There are many restaurants and mini-marts up and down the side streets. So no need to go out of the way for dinner or snacks. For the energetic, it's only about a 20 minute walk to central Rome from here. Or catch a bus from the depot outside of Termini. The 40 is a good express into the center. Buy your tickets at the kiosk or newsstand.

"Rapture in Roma"
wilvic, 30 Novembre 2017

The Artdeco is not new (we are in Rome after all), not fancey, or swanky. However the rooms are nice, modern, clean, and quiet. Located within a few blocks of the Rome Metro (subway) bus stops, enough eating establishments to fill all your desires of Italy foods, and several interesting ruins and historic structures. The staff was pleasant, helpful and spoke English well enough to make conversation. If I was to force myself to find fault...the restaurant had a limiter menu (what, no Gelato!) Over all GREAT!

"Stressful experience"
sc0nsidine, 05 Novembre 2017

My room was tiny could not find enough space to open my suitcase No air conditioning had to ask for a fan Room was clean, however the bed was hard as a rock, sheets were rough and the pillows were flat

"LOVELY STAY: Staff are perfection, good value tourist hotel near Termini"
David S, 01 Novembre 2017

We stayed at Best Western Artdeco primarily because someone in our group (our family and another lady) wanted a good value "American" hotel but had budget constraints. Typically we would have lavished ourselves elsewhere like the Waldorf in a suite. The hotel is super clean and beautifully maintained, and the bathrooms are very spacious. The beds are good if a bit firm. For a family of four there really isn't anything except 4 twin beds---the bedding isn't luxurious but it's comfortable. Breakfast in the dining room is very nice and the service is outstanding. Additionally the restaurant will bring you room service, if not a little bit of a challenge because of all the small staircases all over the hotel, the food was outstanding. Overall I highly recommend this hotel, it is definitely a three star hotel by the standards of other hotels BUT it's get's 5 stars for review because the staff were so so helpful and we had an enjoy 4 nights stay in Rome.

"Our Favourite Hotel in Rome"
Richard W, 30 Octobre 2017

This is the hotel in Rome that we like best. Its architecture, its friendly staff, the number of restaurants within walking distance, its proximity to the train station, and the friendly atmosphere in the neighborhood, all keep us coming back to the Artdeco Hotel.

"Very friendly staff"
Tblimunda, 29 Octobre 2017

Very friendly staff both at the reception and restaurant. The room was very nice and clean, and the food (pasta!) and wine (house wine) were great. The restaurant staff makes you feel at home. Will definitely come back. Recommended

"Wonderful Hotel!"
SO S, 25 Octobre 2017

I really loved this place! When we first arrived, we realized we had booked a very small room. They bumped us up to a huge room for no charge. I told them ahead of time that I'm gluten free, so every day they made it a point to leave gluten free food items in my room. Additionally, on Women's Day, they left flowers for me on my bed. The staff was very kind and cheerful, always helpful. The food was very good. I will stay there again when I go back to Rome.

"Decent Room, good location"
lmh1976, 23 Octobre 2017

Small, but nice room. Nothing special, but functional. Location a bit out of the touristy area, but convinient to catch the subway and walk around. Plenty of restuarants nearby. Breakfast was good and worth the 5 euros. Wifi unreliable

"Convenient location, large room "
JTinSLC, 16 Octobre 2017

Pros...close to main train station and metro station, not hard to find, our room was large and nice, great bathroom, quiet if windows shut, mini marts and restaurants nearby, decent price for Rome. Not in heart of tourist area was ok for us. WiFi pretty dependable. Good base for us as we were out running around all day. Cons...a real mix of nice and not so nice neighborhood but not scary, bed and pillows quite firm, not much cool to walk around and see, nothing to do at the hotel _the only English tv I found were news channels. No views from room. Would have liked, in October, a room facing sun. We didn't eat here but there is a restaurant.

"Totally Likeable"
Zola C, 07 Octobre 2017

Friendly service. Clean room. Quiet. Wonderful European breakfast assortment. Good restaurants nearby. Only there one night but would definitely return. English speaking staff. Short walk to Termini and to a Metro station.

"Need upgrade"
semanticvision, 24 Septembre 2017

This hotel is near the Termini, Rome train terminal, you can sense the past glory with all the marbles and ornate decoration which look tired for now. Room are clean and well appointed, with good service. Probably needs some upgrade.

"Short visit.... great hotel..."
Angela G, 17 Septembre 2017

Stayed at the BWAD for 3 nights in August.... hidden gem of a place...lovely rooms, helpful staff, particularly the waitress in the breakfast restaurant who was so very accommodating providing early morning tea... well placed for Termini station and all attractions in central Rome. Would definitely recommend and certainly would use this hotel again.

"Wonderful Stay in Rome early August"
Julie G, 13 Septembre 2017

We stayed her for a week while in Rome. The hotel staff was so helpful. We loved that we were only a short distance from Termini Station for easy access to all the sights in Rome. The staff was always willing to call a taxi for us if we needed one. They offered great advice on where to eat within walking distance. The room was perfect for 3 of us and we loved having A/C....especially since most of our days in Rome the temperature was over 100 degrees. Breakfast was a perfect start to our day and only a small extra fee. Shout out to the bartender Maria....she filled my water thermos every evening with ice!! I would definitely recommend the Hotel ArtDeco....great experience.

"Last Night In Italy"
PBEXP, 11 Septembre 2017

Nice hotel Pros Staff friendly Breakfast good Small super market across the street Clean Wooden floors, clean sheets etc. Easy access for taxi to pick us up at Wifi Cons Further away from the city The area that we visited around this hotel were nice however we did have to take a taxi for it was quite a walk to where we needed to get to.

"Far better options for the price and location in Rome"
Willow P, 27 Août 2017

We stayed here for a few days to see the sights. The hotel is not in a great location for sight seeing and a really good distance by foot to get anywhere. It is relatively clean but doesn't offer any amenities or extras at all. It also looks nothing like the photos. Breakfast is ok, but not great. The only redeeming quality about the hotel is that the front desk staff are amazing people who go above and beyond. However, I would suggest finding another hotel for a similar price point. This is no where near a four star hotel.

"Well run friendly hotel"
familyfun20, 24 Août 2017

We stayed at this hotel in August 2017. what a lovely clean hotel. Friendly front desk, good breakfast and decent sixed rooms. Close enough to the train station to walk and easy to get taxi's for the attractions a little further away.

"Friendly staff but tired hotel"
Maggie G, 23 Août 2017

I stayed here in April 2016, not September. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the hotel has seen better days. Despite being a non smoking room the room smelt if cigarette smoke. And the breakfast left room for improvement. I didn't realise you could fail with croissants.

"Good size rooms"
roxiesmom08, 20 Août 2017

The rooms are large for a hotel downtown. The area is very quiet & our room had zero street noise, the walk into the main area is not far at all. The air conditioner was nice to have especially since it was in the upper 90's while we were there. The only downsides are the breakfast is not really that good, save your money & go eat at a local restaurant instead PLUS the front desk does not quote the correct amount when they call a taxi for you. It is 50 Euros to the airport not 15.

"Nice hotel in a good location"
bernardatc, 15 Août 2017

This hotel is situation in a quiet area, a walking distance from the Termini station, even with a luggage. I had made a mistake with my booking date which was not a problem and was quickly solved at no additional price. The staff, both and at reception and in the breakfast room was nice. My room was very quiet with a very elegant and spacious bathroom. The breakfast buffet was much better than the ones I had seen in many other hotels in Italy belonging, in theory, to higher categories.

"Decent hotel in a decent location"
mikepd_10, 12 Août 2017

So its not far from the main station - maybe a 10 minute walk. The outside photos make it look rather grander than it is. A few decent bars/places to eat nearby Check in was helpful - provided map with things to see, how to get to the concert venue etc Didn't get wifi to work so maybe that was just me ? Rooms old fashioned with limited facilities and a feel of being in the 50s with a basic approach TV had no English channels - nit even for news but when in Rome...As I didn't spend too much time in the hotel that was fine by my needs .

"Beautiful hotel, excellent service!"
jldjld2013, 11 Août 2017

My mother and I stayed at the Hotel Artdeco during our visit to Rome. We loved this hotel. The room was beautiful with a good-sized bathroom, and the whole place was extremely clean! The service was excellent, also. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel isn't exactly central to everything, but the metro stop is only about a five minute walk and then Termini station is only one stop away. The area is very quiet at night, which is always a plus for getting a decent night's sleep. There's a restaurant on site that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is very convenient. We only ate breakfast so can't attest to the other food, but the breakfast was very good and only 5 euros per person. We did have dessert one evening, though, and it was reasonably priced and very good as well. Overall, a very nice place to stay.

"Nice interiors, helpful hotel staff, unappealing area"
831ada, 11 Août 2017

The hotel is in very good condition, the common areas look elegant and the rooms are comfortable. Our double room had the humongous boat-like art deco bed as seen on the hotel website, it takes up most of the space, but was fun! I also enjoyed the art-deco style painting on the wall above the bed. Details like this make us guests feel more special, as well as catching the eye. The bathroom is good, WiFi excellent, breakfast is fine but most of all the hotel and restaurant staff are great, friendly and helpful. They make very good coffee with lovely personalized decoration on top of the foam, thanks!!! We chose this hotel as it is situated near the Stazione Termini, but otherwise the area is not ideal, a kind of in-between sort of place, more for short business stays then for family holidays. The other reason for choosing it was the attractive interiors, and they are just as in the photos.

"Its fine"
Mike H, 10 Août 2017

Room is tiny but nice. Very high ceilings. Bed is comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Good location. Close together Termini Station so getting around the city is very easy. Nice breakfast buffet for only 5€, which is pretty reasonable.

"Great for a short stay!"
Joyful319, 10 Août 2017

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night in July. It was in a convenient location with some stores and restaurants in walking distance. The hotel was clean and the front desk staff was friendly. We had a rate that included the breakfast and it was very good. If your rate doesn't include breakfast, it's only about 5 euros. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome who doesn't want to be too far from the train station.

"Good hotel for the price."
Sean B, 02 Août 2017

Nice place for a short stay. Note to American travelers: Keep I mind that this is Europe and rooms may be a little smaller than expected, so are some bathrooms. However, our room was clean and the reception staff was friendly and helpful. The check-in process was quick and easy. Have your passport ready since that's the primary way to identify you and check you in. The breakfast buffet was adequate and sufficient. The waiter staff was friendly and helpful. Good location, not too far from the main train station, Roma Termini. If you don't mind walking and do not have an excessive amount of luggage, you can walk from Roma Termini to the hotel in about 15 - 20 min. If you take a taxi, it will cost about 6 - 8 Euros. A Metro station is also in walking distance. There appears to be a few government buildings in the area, so you may see some heavily armed military personnel in the area. Nothing to be alarmed about, it appears to be regular security. Of course, this provides a measure of safety for the area. Also, several good restaurants in the area. If passing through Rome again, I would stay here.

"Great for a short stay"
David J, 26 Juillet 2017

My family and I stayed here with two other families for one night when we arrived in Italy before heading to Tuscany. We arrived early in the morning and the staff went out of their way to prepare rooms for us before the normal check-in time. This level of customer service continued throughout our stay. The hotel is a short walk from all of the major attractions, the Termini and car rental agencies. Being slightly away from the very center of the monuments made arriving and leaving the city much easier. The hotel arranged transfer from the airport for our group at a reasonable rate and provided an excellent breakfast for a small additional fee.

"Decent Hotel"
Jenna R, 24 Juillet 2017

Great Price for a simple clean hotel. Pros: price what right, staff are kind, rooms clean and well kept and location is very convenient to metro amd restaurants. Cons: No iron, coffee/tea, rooms are very small. Overall pleasant stay.

"Clean, safe & Convenient"
OSUfamily, 16 Juillet 2017

My daughter and I stayed here for a week mid June, a graduation gift for her and really fell in love with this hotel. I felt extremely safe in the area, even walking around at night. Because the embassy's are near by there are armed guards literally on the corner a block away. There are restaurants a block away in every direction. A mini mart directly across the street. The Termini (main train station) is a 10 -15 minute walk and the Metro (subway) is less than a 10 minute walk. We walked or used public transit for nearly every occasion and it was super convenient. We asked for a room with a view, prior to our arrival, and much to my surprise after seeing building on top of building during the taxi trip from the airport, they succeeded! We had a double room on the 5th floor that looked out onto the embassies and a courtyard. We could see the statue from the church nearby and heard the bells. Fantastic! The room was well proportioned with plenty of storage. Bathroom was huge with a jetted tub/ shower, etc. Stocked mini fridge and VERY CLEAN. House keeping was excellent and there were no noise issues. We needed an iron and board, it was delivered within minutes and they allowed us to keep it for a few days (as long as needed). Breakfast - take advantage of it! It's a hot buffet with scrambled eggs, potato, bacon (Canadian style... I think... but delicious. Fruit, bread, yogurt, meat and cheese tray and more. Well worth the 5 euros and the cheapest meal you will find in Rome. Includes espresso, cappuccino and juices. I would also like to say the Michela and Stefano were two of the best servers I have ever had! I'm from the US, speak very little Italian and by the second day they already had my 2 expresso's & 1 Cappuccino and my daughters coke down. They had a smile on their faces everyday and really brightened our mornings. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and it too was wonderful. The front desk was often busy but very willing to answer my many questions, helped me print out my boarding passes (as the internet was in Italian), arranged taxis and very polite. CONS- I absolutely loved this hotel but want to give an honest review. The elevator is small, approximately 18" x 36". My daughter and I and 2 large suitcases barely fit. But, it obviously was added and retrofitted for an older building so space was limited. And at least they had one! Did not seem as though it would be great if you have disabilities. To get to the elevator I mentioned you have to either walk up stairs or take one elevator up one floor and switch to the other lift. They might have first floor rooms, not sure but if you have any mobility issues I would ask first. No ice machine. If you want ice you go down to the bar and they are happy to give you a bowl of ice...yes a small bowl. My daughter and I laughed often about this because being from the States we use a lot of ice. The mattresses are very firm but we both actually slept great. We were initially concerned because we have pillowtops at home but after all the walking and site seeing it just felt great to lie down. That's it- the only cons I can think of after staying 8 days at this hotel. I would definitely stay here again!

"Classy, very clean, great location"
A C, 16 Juillet 2017

First time in Rome, we fell in love with the Eternal City and BestWestern Artdeco contributed great deal to this amazing experience. We were very impressed with all that the hotel had to offer. Our room of three located on the fourth floor was quiet, spacious and very clean. I can't underline enough how impressed we were with the cleanness of the room. This is the most important quality of a hotel room and ArtDeco surpassed our expectations. Amazing and dedicated personnel! The room had air conditioning which is a sine qua non condition in the summer days. The hot/cold water never failed on us. The hotel offers breakfast for 5 euros/person and we savored every morning the Italian cup of coffee, tasty cheese and fresh fruits to name only some of what was available. The restaurant is very well managed, spotless, chic and Michella greeted us every morning with the most genuine desire to make us enjoy our stay at the hotel. The location cannot be better: in the city center, five minutes walk from Termini Station we were able to walk to most tourist attractions among which Villa Borghese, Colloseum, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain. All in all this hotel is very well managed thanks to Dario's desire for excellence. We'll definitely choose again ArtDeco when next time in Rome.

"Amazing Hotel!!! "
OwlsS6, 15 Juillet 2017

We had the pleasure of staying in this hotel for 4 nights from 2 July 2017. It is a stunning hotel and straight away it was like we had been transported to the 20's. We arrived 9:30pm and check in was very quick and we even got given a map and a quick overview of the tourist sights! The receptionist even kindly recommend a local restaurant for us to eat following our journey! Our room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was large with a spa bath, powerful shower and lovely clean fresh towels! The breakfast in a morning for €5 per person which was great value for money and Michela (I believe thats spelt right) was so lovely! A typical continental style breakfast but the staff were constantly ensuring the food was fresh. Antonio in reception was so amazing and his knowledge and help was so valuable with his tips and ensuring we made the most of our stay and even arranged a taxi to get us to the Vatican for our early tour. The hotel is brilliant situated a short walk from the main Rome train station and situated by a lot of Embassies so there is a military presence which is seen throughout Rome! It is ideally centrally located for getting around and from here we walked everywhere using paper maps rather than google maps on our phones! There are plenty of restaurants local to the hotel that are very reasonably priced. But this is Rome so prices are on par with other capitals and some charge a table service charge (this isn't a tip). Would I recommend this hotel yes I would for its staff, its location, it's cost and most of all it's amazing style!! Thank you all the staff for making our stay so fantastic and the receptionist on the Thursday we left who ensured our taxi arrived for the airport due to the public transport strike!

"Great value and location"
shimon53, 07 Juillet 2017

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while visiting Rome. The hotel is an easy 10 minute walk from the Termini train station. Also 5 minute walk from the subway and from the number 62 bus which stops at all the main tourist attractions in the historic center. The rooms are quiet, clean, and comfortable with a large bathroom. The rooms do not include a kettle for in-room coffee/tea ... but we asked for one and it was provided immediately. The front desk is friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was fine - something for all tastes with coffee to order and a friendly serving staff. Great choice for those looking to stay in the Termini area. Also close to supermarkets and restaurants. On the last morning, we needed to catch an early morning flight, and the front desk arranged for a take-out breakfast package ... a sample of the friendly service.

"Good location, good hotel"
WesUK-USA, 23 Juin 2017

Just stayed 3 nights with no problems. We got to the hotel at 1200 on the first day and our room was ready (check on is after 2). The room was clean and had space to put bags so on. The A/C works perfect what was good as it was very hot outside. Wardrobe was a good size with hangers. The bathroom is all a bit tight with bad positioning the toilet in the corner behind the sink but as I'm not buying the place it's fine for 3 nights. We went all over Rome and found our way back with ease and the location to the train station is perfect for when you have luggage.2x super markets with in 3 block and good food near by. All in all very good and I would recommend this hotel

"Good"
NDoubleU, 11 Juin 2017

Located within walking distance from Rome's main railway terminal, the Best Western Artdeco lives up to its name with the art deco interior theme. Arriving here by train and stepping into here, I felt I was transported back to the 1920s! The hotel is located in a relatively safe neighborhood. I felt safe walking to and from the hotel at night, though some parts were rather desolate. On select days there's a mini street bazaar nearby that's worth checking out. However, then during the night in the same area there's some X-rated stores open for business, so watch out for that too. Also, it appears there are some embassies nearby, so don't be spooked if you see guards standing armed with rifles as you walk around here. The lobby is not grand or luxurious by any means, but there are ample seats and arranged in a way that gets the job done. The front staff was a bit curt, but professional and got me checked in fast. My room was conveniently located on the second floor, so I walked up their staircase, which by the way looked cooler than their lobby! The single room I got was small, but fine for my needs. It was located right next to the entryway to the main staircase and I was afraid it was going to be noisy, but thankfully noise related disturbances were minimal and I didn't hear much ruckus coming from neighboring rooms. Maybe I got lucky? This was the first time I saw the TV placed right on top on the mini fridge that stood out alone at the edge of the bed, but due to layout limitations of the room I understood the reason. The bed was firm but comfy enough for me to sleep on without much problems. The bathroom was clean and of the standard variety. This was definitely one of the fancier Best Western I've stayed at and with it's close proximity to public transportation without it being located on a major noisy thoroughfare makes this hotel a solid good choice to consider.

"Great place to stay! "
thewishingcat, 09 Juin 2017

Location of hotel was extremely convenient! (10 min walk from Termini station) and only 25 walking distance to Colosseum (if you love to walk). Very clean and affordable hotel to stay in while in Rome! If I was staying in Rome again I would definitely choose this place again.

"Best hotel on our trip"
Mark K, 01 Juin 2017

We loved this place. The room was golden for starts, you feel like you are waking up royally :). We liked the location also, so central, just a quick walk to a main junction and subway. We even found a Filipino store nearby.

"Great Hotel in a Convenient Location "
Dangerousdavew, 31 Mai 2017

Saved here for a 3 night visit. The hotel is around 15 minutes walk from Termini Station and is situated in a quiet street near some of the embassies. The staff were great from the front desk to the restaurant and kitchen and couldn't do enough to help. We had a family room that was clean and comfortable with all you would need for a stay. We ate in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. Dinner had a good range of local food and breakfast was good value also with hot and cold options available. With a Metro station 5 minutes walk away it is very convenient for travel to all of the main attractions and the Baths of Diocletian are a short walk away. Can't recommend the hotel highly enough for a visit to Rome. The kids loved it also.

"Great service"
apbedoya, 29 Mai 2017

Friendly staff.. worth every penny!!! Very well located... close to termini terminal. Very economic and the rooms have everything you need. Walking distance to nice places to eat. The breakfast is a self serve with enough options and for 5 euros can't be beat. Capuchino is delicious too

"Great location, good value, quiet hotel"
Paul N, 23 Mai 2017

Situated about 800 m from central rail station and hop on hop off busses with lots of eating options close by. Reasonable size rooms. Good breakfast. Quiet. Free wifi Friendly staff. Only complaints - no English tv channels - they say there are but not obtainable for the 3 nights we stayed. Carpets on stairs and passages need upgrading or cleaning. Lifts are tiny - we never had to wait but I guess a big group checking out could have difficulty moving luggage.

"City break with friends "
janette w, 22 Mai 2017

Booked here 20 may till 23rd single room small but very good as it's some where to put your head down very clean rooms friendly staff especially reception ask for anything and they bend over backwards for you think his name is janluca not sure how to spell recommended places to eat very friendly

"Good hotel in ideal position "
Liz B, 22 Mai 2017

Stayed here for 3 nights, was confortable and very clean and within easy walking distance of the metro. The area had quite a high police/army presence so it also felt safe to wander around whatever the time. Antonio on reception was most helpful and accommodating of our Vatican trip on our departure day. Have had an amazing visit to Rome....Ci rivediamo!

"Very nice hotel; great location"
gayeswan, 12 Mai 2017

We stayed for 2 nights in late March, 2017. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable -- nothing fancy, but certainly very nice. The breakfast was tasty as well. The location was excellent. It is just a few blocks from the Termini station; in fact we walked their with our luggage (TIP: if you fly into Rome, take the Leonardo Express train which takes you straight into to Termini station). It is close to many sights, including the Spanish Steps. I recommend this reasonably priced hotel.

"Easy access to everthing!"
aliciaann3145, 10 Mai 2017

We stayed for 7 days beginning April 26 as part of a Delta Vacation package. What a good choice! The Hotel Art Deco is convenient to all sites and public transportation. From the airport we took the Leonardo Express train to Termini Station. From Termini the hotel is only a 10-15 walk. The Castro Pretorio Metro stop is only a block and half away. From there all connections can be made: we never used a taxi the entire time and we traveled to all areas of Rome, Ostia Antica, and Pompeii. Right before the steps at the Pretoria metro steps is a bank with an easy to use ATM. The hotel itself is very clean and the front staff are very capable. The cleaning staff (esp. Aline) are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and there was always scrambled eggs, ham, fruit, and pastries. By the second day the wait staff knew our room number and were always sunny and pleasant. A bonus was there were no bus tours here and there was a good mix of Italians, businessmen, and independent tourists. The area was safe and quiet: we often returned after dark with no apprehension (we are a couple in our 60s). The room we had was on the 2nd floor and rather large. Had great large windows that we opened at night. The bathroom was nice, but if you have mobility issues request shower only since the tub is a bit steep. My only complaint: the pillows are so hard!! Management are you listening?! A choice for softer pillows please! If you want a wonderful, unique smaller hotel stay here and walk everywhere in the wonderful city of Rome. Our vacation in Rome was perfect thanks to the wonderful people of Rome and this lovely little art deco style hotel. Alicia from St. Augustine, Florida

"Very nice stay at Hotel Artdeco!"
Ken B, 04 Mai 2017

The reviews were mixed, but I decided to give it a try, and glad I did. I t was only about 6 blocks from Termini Train Station. It was near restaurants and pasticcerias. I walked to and from all the major attractions. I was in a room with a king bed, that was very comfortable, and. very clean. There was a safe and a refrigerator in the room. If going to Rome, it is worth it to check out Hotel Artdeco!

"Reasonably Priced Option in Rome"
NRBQRocks, 30 Avril 2017

We were happy with our chose of the BW Artdeco Hotel in Rome. It was a short walk from the train station and very close to the metro making it very convenient. The desk staff was very accomodating and the buffet breakfast was very good. In addition the neighborhood was quiet and I would highly recommend the Chinese restaurant around the corner.

"Clean, convenient, good wifi"
Marta C, 26 Avril 2017

This hotel is a clean, comfortable, convenient choice. Free wifi in the rooms which was pretty fast. Staff was very helpful, and spoke English. Close to the train station, but not on a busy street, so our room was very quiet. Overall, a very good choice. Nothing particularly special or outstanding, but a good place to call our home base while we were in Rome.

"April in Rome"
Stefan U, 23 Avril 2017

Hotel is really nice, true art deco style, it seems like you are in a Woody Alen movie:). Rooms are big enough, cleaned every day, without asking. Stuff is amazing, espacially guys at the breakfast, which is very good. Walking distance to the centre, Castro Pretoria metro station really close. Termini also. I would recommend this hotel to my friends either for pleasure or business. Thank you and keep up the good work:)

"Easy and in a great location"
Twinkle T, 21 Avril 2017

We stayed here for one night. The location was great, being so close to the Termini metro station. The room was small but clean and fresh. The breakfast was an extra €5 each but was one of the best hotel breakfasts we had in Italy (scrambled or boiled eggs, fresh bread, juice, yoghurt, pastries and fruit). The only drawback for us was the hotel bar was closed when we got home at 8:30pm! We would've liked to have a night cap but we were simply told it was closed with no explanation given. It was great value and I'd stay here again.

"Great Rome hotel"
Solsister50, 15 Avril 2017

Hotel Artdeco hotel in Rome was a great 4 night stay. Easy walk from the train station. Very comfortable room. They had a great breakfast available. The staff was very nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here the next time we are in Rome.

"Not a very happy experience for me."
iambansi, 04 Avril 2017

The hotel is located close to a metro station of Castro Pretoria . It is at a walking distance from the main train terminal termini. The hotel staff is not very friendly and often does come around as rude. The rooms are cramped. The temperature control of the room was stuck at hot , and I could not adjust it , when asked for repair .. the reception simply said open the windows and sleep . The breakfast buffet is the same everyday . The plus is the location of the hotel and it's vicinity to eating joints , theatres and train stations. Overall not a very happy experience for me.

"Good Location, close to Termini"
Henrikstongue, 29 Mars 2017

We stayed for 3 nights. It is a quirky hotel with the smallest lift I have ever seen, hold 2 people and goes from the 1st to 5th Floor, there is a larger lift that goes from Ground to the 4th Floor. Breakfast was good value at 5 euros, although the room was small it was very clean as was the bathroom. One slight complaint is that the A/C was not switched on as it was still classed as Winter, the weather was low 20's, so a little uncomfortable at night as we had to open the windows. Would stay again if I was in Rome.

"other hotels to stay in."
colste, 14 Mars 2017

the room was clean and tidy, the staff very friendly and helpful. But this wasn't a 4 star as we were led to believe by our tour operator, more a 3. What was wrong......only given 2 plastic cups to drink out of and didn't realise that was all we would get till a few days later....so save your plastic drinking cups as this was it....no glasses to drink from. no alarm clock within the room so relying on mobile phones to wake us up. No tea/coffee making facilities either within the room. You had to go to the restaurant within the hotel to buy your tea and coffee....beware they are closed in the afternoon and don't open till 16:30. Its OK if your a coffee drinker but beware if you only drink tea as the water is often only warm and you won't get milk so I hope you like it black. Unless you use the frothy, hot milk for the coffee.

"Great location and great staff"
Desiree W, 07 Mars 2017

We were very impressed with this hotel. The staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The hotel was very clean and quiet. Joey at the front desk was so helpful with any questions we had. We had thought our flight was leaving at 11:30 am on a Sunday but it was actually 11:30 pm. They were able to find room for us to stay another night and arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the hotel at 9:00 pm so we wouldn't need to be at the airport all day. We never had to ask to have our room cleaned because they were so quick to do it while we were out for the day. This hotel is located across from some foreign embassies so we felt very safe since there was security around the embassies. I will be recommending this hotel to anyone I know who will be traveling to Rome. If I could, I would recommend Joey to get a pay raise because he went over and beyond to help. We will be returning.

"Lovely few days in Rome"
Sara-Turnbull_88, 05 Mars 2017

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights last week. We arrived before check in as our flight was very early but we were relived to find a room was ready for us. Antonio on the front desk was lovely. He gave us a very warm welcome and informed us of the optional breakfast and city tax that would have to be paid upon check out. Our room was made up every day and the breakfast staff were very friendly. The breakfast is the normal continental selection, plus a lovely cappuccino on arrival. For 5 euros, it was excellent value. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the Termini which is so handy when you're tired after travelling. We had no issue walking everywhere, especially because the weather was so nice and it was good to burn off all the pizza calories! The hotel is situated near a number of heavily armed embassies/government buildings so I felt very safe walking at any time of day and night. There is a supermarket just a few minutes walk away. All in all, a great stay. Rome is so beautiful, I would recommend it to anyone.

"Convenient and Clean"
Douglas A, 22 Novembre 2016

It was a nice hotel. Don't expect North American sized Best Western rooms. The room was small, even by the standards of the other rooms we had in Italy. It's conveniently located, about ten minutes from Termini station, and even closer to Repubblica station for the Metro. The breakfast was good and all the staff were very friendly. I really have nothing to complain about. I guess it gets 4 stars because it was my least favourite (but still very good) room of our trip.

"Very Nice Hotel in Rome"
TomHlavac, 10 Novembre 2016

Although a short distance northeast of Termini, so further from many of Rome's best places to explore, this is a great hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the room had a bath (a jacuzzi), and the breakfast was wonderful, decent quality. We will stay here again, good value.

"Great stay"
mainmusafir, 06 Novembre 2016

We were pretty happy with our 3 night stay at the hotel. After reading about cramped hotel rooms in Rome were worried since we had a teenaged daughter. The Triple room we had booked was quite spacious.Very close to Castro Pretorio station and walkable distance from Termini too.The Staff at the reception was quite helpful and warm. Buffet breakfast was decent.Has a supermarket closeby for essentials. A quiet decent neighbourhood to walk any time during the day/night.

"Great stay at boutique style hotel"
fernie15, 05 Novembre 2016

Loved my stay at this local spot within walking distance to Termini. Great restaurants and shopping within a 20 minute walk. Staff was extremely helpful, accommodated us upon a much too early arrival. We were able to check-in and have breakfast. Room was very clean and comfortable and there was 3 of us in the room. Bathrooms were clean and water pressure great. Great stay.

"Not Impressed "
Neil H, 04 Novembre 2016

Wasn't impressed at all! Was greeted by an old grumpy man who seemed to shout at me, the room wasn't cosy looking at all. The shower was designed for a midget? no room at all. Room service food was a rip off, no English channels on TV and the list provided didn't match up with the TV. There was only one plug socket to charge my phone which was the other side of the room so could not charge phone while in bed. The iron which the hotel borrowed me was something from the 60's you couldn't even put water in it! The toilet flush didn't work properly, this hotel doesn't really have a lot going for it. Also make sure you have Google maps or you'll probably get lost looking for the Hotel as the area looks so similar it's almost impossible to navigate around.

"Exceptional service"
6sigmax, 01 Novembre 2016

Superb customer service should be mentioned first. The staff is very helpful in assisting travelers with their needs. When asked about reservations for Galleria Borghese, the front desk manager had called the gallery and upon our return to the hotel gave us the reservation number. Beds are clean and comfortable. Restrooms were spotless. What else is needed?

"Very reasonable "
Matthew S, 28 Octobre 2016

Good location (easy walk to the train station in which you can take a bus to sights), clean and fairly comfortable rooms, friendly staff and a fair price. The continental breakfast is only 3 euros and is simple but filling and tasty and caters to all needs.

"Great place not far from the main train station"
JustMe1325, 28 Octobre 2016

Walking distance to Termini train station, a very nice hotel with very friendly staff that speak several languages. Metro station close by and bus stop a little further down the street. Breakfast was good. They have a restaurant open that is open for dinner (except Sundays), which I did not have a chance to try, but the menu looks good. Rooms facing the street are a bit noisy, though.

"Best Western Rome"
Sally D, 24 Octobre 2016

The hotel offers excellent value in a convenient area. It is within walking distance of the main train station and in the area of some fine restaurants. Be sure to check your credit card statement as their accounting system does not credit prepayments to the final bill. This occurred in at a hotel in Milan and may be symptomatic of Italy's hotels.

"Two fine nights in Roma"
BandRG, 22 Octobre 2016

We were very happy with our two night stay at the Art Deco. Our room was large by European standards and spotlessly clean. Staff at the front desk were pleasant and very helpfull. All spoke excellent English which was far better than our basic Italian. The area is quiet at night with a few restaurants and a small convenience store nearby. Pretty good breakfast available in the hotel restaurant for a couple of Euro. Ten minute walk to the train station.

"Great Hotel!"
Paul B, 21 Octobre 2016

This hotel is walking distance to termini train station ( about 10 mins unless you have heavy luggage). The staff are very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast is probably the best deal in Rome & it is very good. It was reasonably priced for its location in Rome. I would recommend this hotel!

"Excellent central hotel"
shirleymonaghan, 19 Octobre 2016

An amazing hotel, located in the centre of Rome. Near Open Top bus routes, just a short walk from Roma Termini station and airport buses. Staff very friendly and spoke great English. Their breakfast is to die for!! Unfortunately could not sample their cakes as I am gluten free, though they did provide me with a gluten free roll...Cooked breakfast, cereals, bread, rolls, fruit juices and of course cakes...all for €3 per person. Very pleased with this hotel.

""Good value! One of the few hotels with a king sized bed."
Ellen S, 17 Octobre 2016

This is a charming hotel. The bed was very low to the ground, but comfortable. Our room was very clean, and very luxurious towels! We did not book the room with breakfast included, but we purchased their breakfast buffet while staying there. It was only 3 euro per person, a real bargain!! The food was fabulous, especially the croissant with Nutella filling. It is an easy walk to the metro from the hotel. There are some nice restaurants within easy walking.

"Really great stst"
User, 06 Octobre 2016

My family and I just returned from a short "midterm" break in Rome. We spent quite a bit of time choosing the *right* hotel. I admit that even after all that, I was a little afraid, but from the moment we stepped into the Best Western Art Deco, our fears were allayed. It wasn't because of a grand reception area, rather it was the kindness and warmth of the gentleman at the front desk. We'd taken an early flight from London and my 5 year old was sleeping. We must have looked a weary mess. Even though it was a couple hours before check-in he found us a room! We were so grateful. His name is Gion/Gian, I believe. He, Antonio, and Georgina (the only woman out front) were so helpful with directions, advice, and everything in-between. We reserved a family room. It was very spacious and very nicely appointed. The breakfast (which was not included) was inexpensive and quite adequate. The breakfast wait staff are kind and helpful. Finally, the hotel is close to the Metro. It really is quite easy to get around and if you don't mind the walk you could certainly make it to the center of the city. We'd definitely stay here again. Kinda felt like we made friends.

"Art deco styling"
Anne T, 04 Octobre 2016

Handy for the airport and our early morning flight. No time to sample breakfast so unable to comment. TURKISH embassy is nearby which has strong police presence. Also nearby is a sleazy-ish street with 'adult' cinemas etc so we avoided this when returning after dinner. PROS: The art deco styling is well done and the hotel feels very fresh. Room decor is unique and unlike most others. Helpful staff. CONS: Tight space in bathroom, especially the wc and bath. Not sure how a large gentleman would manage!! Before booking we checked that coffee facilities were in the room as we had an early start and no time for breakfast. Don't know about anyone else but I need caffeine to set me up. However there were no facilities that we could find. Perhaps we could have asked? The reason for the 3star rating is based on a short stay of a few hours without breakfast. Might stay again but opt for a larger room (though there is another Rome hotel we liked more)

"Good Value in Rome. Quite location."
GregoryS57, 04 Octobre 2016

Surprisingly quiet location. You can walk from the train station. Not a far walk but not close either. There are many hotels closer to the train station but not at this price for what you get here. Overall a good value. Many good restaurants on the surrounding streets. Good breakfast! It had hot foods like scrambled eggs and cold foods like prosciutto, granola cereal, baked goodies, fruits, cheeses, yogurt and lots of other things. The only downside to this place is the elevator. They are very, very small so if you have lots of bulky luggage you might have to send it up alone and depending on which floor you are staying you have to get on an even smaller elevator. Overall we were very pleased with our stay here and would definitely go back!

"Near to the station, but not much else."
Lucy M, 29 Septembre 2016

I booked the hotel on the recommendation of colleagues when visiting Rome for work. The location was very good in terms of the station, but some way from the main sights, so if travelling to Rome in the future I would definitely stay closer to the main drag. The hotel itself is clean and has great decor in a 20's style as the name suggests. The theme is carried through to the rooms which make s a nice change from the usual soulless tourist hotels. I was disappointed with my room however, which despite the grand pictures on the website, was the width of a single bed and a small desk, and didn't afford much comfort. Despite being on a fairly quiet road for traffic, the room felt noisy both from outside and inside the hotel which meant I didn't get a great night sleep during my stay. Probably the best part of my stay was the breakfast, which at €3 was a bargain and set me up for the day. Not a bad hotel - particularly for the price, but be prepared for a walk to the main attractions of the city, and perhaps call ahead and ask for a good size room.

"Just what we wanted"
johnandnorma, 25 Septembre 2016

We wished to take our daughter to Rome for 4 nights to celebrate her 50th birthday. Our local travel agents, Trailfinders, U.K., initially suggested very pricey hotels but when asked for something at a more reasonable cost, but still handy for the sights, came up with the Best Western Art Deco Hotel. It was a brilliant suggestion, The hotel is well placed within easy walking distance of the Termini Station which is served by airport shuttle trains and most of the local buses. It is also within walking distance of most of the historic sights, although, with the high temperatures, we used the excellent, frequent and cost effective local buses. The hotel itself is in a quiet street, handy for a number of excellent restaurants, if one chose to dine out. Breakfast was a delight with the hotel appearing to avoid the peak hiatus so common elsewhere. It appeared that the hotel had been refurbished recently but that could have been an illusion caused by the excellent cleaning evident in all public rooms and bedrooms. Our bedroom (510) was quite small but so well designed and furnished that we were more than happy. The staff were both attentive and knowledgeable complementing the general ambiance of the establishment. So why not five stars - well the building is "interesting"! While on the outside it looks quite standard, inside it has a multitude of levels with steps and narrow lifts which make it not ideal for visitors with mobility problems - for others it is a great find and we would have no hesitation to return when we are next in Rome.

"Art Deco should appeal to everyone "
Samuel L, 23 Septembre 2016

My stay at the Hotel Art Deco was very pleasant. The hotel is on a nice clean quiet street. The neighborhood is a mix of other hotels, restaurants and a couple of carry outs. There is a small grocery store named PAM about a block away. My room was large and spacious. I paid a little extra for a larger room and bed but it was well worth it to me. The hotel offers breakfast for 3 euros. The cost is added onto your hotel tab . The staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. There is a per night tax that the city of Rome charges. The staff is supposed to inform you of this at check in. Guests pay the tax as well as any other charges like breakfast when you check out. Termini train station is about 4 blocks away. It's huge so it's hard to miss. Travelers can catch trains, metro subway, or city busses here. You can also board city tour busses across the street. It's a very busy place. The street signs are on the walls of the building above the first floor. No signs sticking out of poles like in the US. The rooms had soap dispensers with a one soap for everything thing approach. No bar soap or separate shampoo. The reason I didn't give the hotel a full 5 rating for is because the internet service was intermittent. It seemed to work best in the lobby and on the first floor rooms. There is a p.c. with wi fi and printer in the lobby for guests to use. I use my phone for everything . Not having consistent internet was a problem for me at first. I had to go "old school " and get paper maps to supplement my information. After I made that adjustment I was fine. I traveled all around Rome and visited other cities in Italy without issues. The streets were crowded but I felt safe everywhere I went.

"Convenient and pleasant"
684valeriyae, 22 Septembre 2016

Great location close to Termini station. Wonderful hot breakfast with tons of food options. Helpful front desk staff always available to assist with directions, taxis, suggestions, etc. Room and bathroom were fairly spacious, clean and pleasant.

"Pleasant stay"
Alina J, 17 Septembre 2016

If you expect all the luxuries of a 4-star hotel, you would be disappointed. Frankly, I didn't have these expectations since being a seasoned traveler learned to put things in perspective. My husband and I stayed at this hotel in July 2016 and were quite happy with our stay. Although hotel is in a need of a facelift, it is clean and well maintained. We liked the location: tucked away from the noise of tourist attractions, yet very central: it is located in a quite area next to some embassies, only two minute walk to a metro station. The breakfast was quite good and service was polite and friendly. I would definitely come back.

"Quaint and elegant"
lbutani, 17 Septembre 2016

Loved the hotel- has a cool character and ambiance. Rooms were nice and very clean and modern. Service was superb- everyone was so friendly and helpful. A real treat. Only downside- a bit away from the touristy stuff (which could be a plus: was for me). walking distance to subways and Roma Termini and many great and authentic Roman food restaurants. For our last day in Rome (traveling from Pompeii back to the US), this was perfect!

"Not a 4 stars at all"
Rodrigo33, 04 Septembre 2016

Being in Rome in August is not a good idea but, when you pay for a 4 stars hotel and you have the feeling they are offering you a lower level of what you expected things get worse. The hotel seems to be refurbished, but still, its facilities is not in accordance with a 4 stars hotel standard (check my positive review of a real 4 stars hotel in Florence). Despite of the old facilities and the high turist rate that every hotel charges you in Rome (6€ per person per day), the breakfast was poor and I regret not investing a little bit more to stay in a better rated hotel which could be following a 4 stars standard for real. The only positive is that staff was friendly.

"Rome hotel. Best western art deco"
auntiePen, 04 Septembre 2016

This is very nice quainted hotel. The location is good away from the noise and traffic. We didn't use metro but use Uber once when we were too tired to walk back at night. The breakfast is great. We loved it, plenty of selections from fruits pastries eggs cheese cold cut and many more. The elevator is small and if you stay on the 5th floor and up you have to either walk up one floor and take a very old style elevator (only two persons without luggage )up to your floor. Or you can take a nicer elevator(you can take luggage with you) then get off at 4th and walk to take the old elevator up or walk one floor. We didn't walk up because my husband has bad knees. Other thing is the bathtub which is very high up and no hand rail. So if you are have balance issue or walk up stair is your concern maybe you can request for lower floor. Everybody in my group were happy and love though. Also there are many great restaurants in the neibourhood and price are cheaper than the one in town center.

"very good stay"
Jatwinder, 02 Septembre 2016

as usual in rome itally , budget hotels have very small rooms ....but in this hotel we book tripple room and really its nice room ...wasroom also good . bvreakfast is up to mark as we pay.......lift to go 5th floor is a joke only...overall good stay in small budget.

"Great location!"
Dona L, 24 Août 2016

Great room for a family of four with 2 teenagers! Walking distance to Spanish steps and an easy metro ride to both the Vatican and Colosseum. Breakfast was delicious and good value. Staff were helpful and friendly. We loved the common sitting area.

"An extremely pleasant stay"
Ishcabibally, 22 Août 2016

We were very happy with our stay at this Best Western . It's location made it very easy for us to get to all the places we wanted to visit in Rome. The staff assisted us greatly with the information we needed to do so. During the majority of our travels, we stay at Best Western. This one is tops!

"A great value hotel in a good location"
laura r, 09 Août 2016

We liked everything about the hotel, the spacious and clean king-bed room with lovely bathroom and massage tub, the excellent hot breakfast for just 3 Euros -- and the charming décor throughout. An easy 10 minute walk from the station. Very well maintained and well run. Only one glitch was a very unpleasant evening front desk employee - Giancarlo (dark hair and moustache)- who was surly and insensitive with a young Muslim couple with a baby (who had a reservation problem and were stuck)- and who gave us sloppy and incorrect info to get to Trastevere. A small black spot on an excellent hotel

"Good location !"
Pratistha T, 06 Août 2016

We stayed here for two nights during our express Europe Trip! Location wise it is great!! Just few minutes walking distance from the Termini Station that will take you everywhere and there is another station pretty near by too!

"Solid"
ac02uf, 05 Août 2016

Cheap and good breakfast (E3) with comfortable beds, clean hotel, good AC, and pretty good location. Front desk staff don't really offer much or seem very friendly so that would be the one thing they could improve on as we passed staff for 3 straight days and they barely said a "hello." Not a huge deal though and we would definitely stay there again.

"Would definitely go back"
disneyman, 03 Août 2016

Very nicely appointed hotel, away from, but a walkable distance to tourist areas. Staff was excellent and spoke English. Rooms are small but decorated tastefully in the art deco style. Elevator is only big enough for 2 people with luggage, and it is painfully slow.

"Lovely Hotel"
Margurietta N, 01 Août 2016

Loved this hotel the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good and the rooms were really well decorated. It was in a very good location near to the train station and the WIFI was very good only problem was that you had to get a code for the WIFI every 24 hours. I would recommend this hotel.

"Art Deco,Best Western"
Viresh S, 31 Juillet 2016

Really liked the staff. Very helpful. Only problem was the elevator. One of them does not go to lobby level.Staff went out of their way to send us tray with tea/coffee kettle and warm milk . we were 12 of us in 6 rooms.

"Nice hotel and food."
Maksim T, 26 Juillet 2016

Overall, the hotel was great. The design of the room is beautiful, really like the staff, liked the breakfast. The place where hotel is located is very green. There was only one small problem, the wi-fi is rather slow or works with disruptions.

"Good staff"
Chaperoneguy, 13 Juillet 2016

Nice free morning buffet. Free wifi (but poor connection, best near reception) Good location to train terminal, taxi, sites and metro. Clean and tidy room. They have a funny 2 person elevator. I'd come back. Staff multilingual and helpful Restaurants in the neighborhood are good

"Average with some good aspects"
viking182, 30 Juin 2016

Having stayed here once before 2 years ago we returned as the location was good and it was comfortable and clean. Having stayed at other hotels in Italy most of the staff seemed indifferent to us. The rooms were clean and comfortable but the breakfast was of limited choice and was not as good as our previous visit. We had several problems which were dealt with after several reminders/requests and we would think twice before returning to this hotel.

"Nice hotel in a quiet neighbourhood"
David O, 26 Juin 2016

I stayed here for 30 nights in May and enjoyed the experience. The hotel is clean and quiet. The staff is helpful and friendly. The breakfast selection and service is excellent. I liked the location because it was close enough to Termini Station to easily walk there but far enough away that there was not so much activity in the neighbourhood. There are a lot of very good restaurants close to the hotel. It is on the north end of the city centre but still close enough to all the major attractions to walk. I loved the staircase - it made me want to take the stairs instead of the elevator.

"Excellent hotel "
Anivasy, 26 Juin 2016

We stayed there for 4 nights in April. The hotel is situated in a quiet area next to several embassies and very close to Termini Station so you can take the train (15 Euro-30 minutes) or the bus from the airport. It is also very close to the main attractions: Fontana di Trevi (20 minutes walk), Phanteon, Piazza Navone (30 minutes) or Colosseum. The hotel is very, very clean. In fact it is one of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed. Loredana and Nadia, the clean ladies are doing a good job. The food is also very good and cheap. For 3 Euros you can have fresh fruit and food. The waiters Mihaela and the man( I can't remember his name) are the best. The people at the front desk are also very helpful. They can give you precious information if you ask. We would certainly stay here again. Tip- Ask for a room on the corner. They are bigger.

"Nice hotel. Indifferent staff. Horrible location."
jcbuzzman, 21 Juin 2016

This hotel is ok. The rooms are larger than most rooms we have had in Europe. There was no shower in our room. A large tub with a had held shower wand. Hated that. Our WiFi did not work the entire time we were there so I had to go to lobby to use WiFi down there. I informed the front desk several times daily but they just did not seem to care. To their credit when I checked out they gave me some credit for the lack of WiFi. the neighborhood is sketchy. A porno movie theatre( I didn't even know they existed anymore!) is right across the street. Many street lights were broken in the area and the streets were full of garbage and rats but than so is a lot of Rome. The elevator is extremely small and you have to use one elevator to get to the 1st floor and another to get to floor 2 thru 5. Probably would stay here again but would see if there was something better first.

"excellent quality/price!"
Gerhard B, 16 Juin 2016

I was here for 1 night, chose it for the reasonable price, and location (not far from Termini station. The hotel is as its name implies: totally in Art Deco Style, wherever possible! Really nicely done! Good breakfast, clean rooms, although the flushing of the toilet requires some time pushing the button on the wall... A common problem with that type of flush... Excellent service! I forgot my shower stuff when I left in the morning, and I called after lunch, and they told me I could return whenever I wanted to collect it, which I did the same afternoon. Very well done!! :-) Would return definitely, if I needed! Price is reasonable for what you get (Rome, close to the station, hotel w/ breakfast)

"Great hotel"
Lynnecooper8, 08 Juin 2016

Just back from 4 night stay with four couples. Very clean and comfy rooms would recommend this hotel. Great front of house service and short walk to Metro stations. Good restaurants around the corner for drinks and food. June 7th 2016.

"Fine hotel, but would choose a different location next time in Rome"
Laura K, 03 Juin 2016

My husband and I stayed here in early May. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions. Enjoyed the breakfast server that helped me say "grazie" correctly-wish I remembered her name. We also enjoyed the breakfast. Our room was surprisingly large! Must vary from room to room, as one couple we were traveling with barely had room to open their luggage, while the other had a more standard sized room. Good Value! My one complaint is unrelated to the hotel itself but rather the location. The hotel was close enough to walk to the bus/subway station-so everything was in reach via public transportation. But, we spent a lot of time walking to see as many sites as possible, as the hotel is not near major attractions. To be truthful, this was our 3rd stop on a 10 day trip and we walked most days from dawn to dusk so I was getting a little tired. BUT--if I were to do it again, I would have paid more to stay in a hotel nearer to Piazza Navona or Campo de Fiori. From that area, the walk would also be closer to Trestavere, the Pantheon, and other areas we really enjoyed.

I have recently just come back from staying here. Very nice hotel and very clean. Close to most things 25 minute at most to the trevi fountain very easy to find. Gianluca who is on reception was very friendly and directed us to each place we visited and arranged our taxi back to the airport very helpful. We enjoyed our stay here

"Good Value and nice hotel"
whstlr_cpl, 01 Juin 2016

We stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed our stay. the hotel is close to Roma termini which makes accessing the metro and train station very easy. The room was very nice. Super comfy bed, big bathroom by European standards with a nice big jacuzzi tub. Nice breakfast buffet each morning for only 3 euro. Overall good value and location. Best of all its very close to the best Gelato in Rome at the Gelateria de Romana.

"Excellent"
Jeffrey O, 01 Juin 2016

Ancient Rome was close by, so was the train station, metro, train station mall and within the mall were some of the comforts of home. You could get your cell phone sim card, after that you can download the app. for the metro. After that buy the metro tickets------you can then go anywhere. It only took 15 Euros to buy a train ticket from the airport to the train station.

"Good but Not Art Deco"
VIVEKtheGreat, 27 Mai 2016

Nice hotel with very clean modern rooms and bathrooms. Breakfast is more than adequate and staff is very accommodating. Only disappointing factor was that this was not an Art Deco Hotel. Located in a quiet lane 5 minutes from the main station and so conveniently located for sightseeing. Beware though there are a dozen Best Westerns around and you may hop from one to the other so get your directions clear. Would definitely stay the next time again.

"Nice, quiet hotel with good breakfast"
jchfla, 25 Mai 2016

This is the 2nd time we've stayed at this hotel. It isn't right in the "hot" tourist area but a quiet street surrounded by several embassies. It's a short walk & subway ride to Spanish Steps, etc. The elevator system is a little bizarre, but it can be avoided if you ask for a room on floor 4 or lower. Rooms are good sized and well equiped.

"Very nice stay with Breakfast"
bibbmon, 23 Mai 2016

WE enjoyed out stay the room was very nice and very clean and close to transportation. Front desk was really helpful and advising. We did not find any really good restaurants I guess we should have investigated more.

"Good breakfast"
Atravellover, 20 Mai 2016

The hotel is around 10 minutes walk from from Roma Termini or Termini metro station, around 20 minutes walk to the main attractions. The room is clean and quiet, the air conditioning works well, has good selection for breakfast, many restaurants nearby, has a little local fresh food market on the side street. We enjoy our stay there.

"Nice room at decent price"
Rohit C, 09 Mai 2016

The hotel is conveniently located close to Roma Termini. Although the room was small and the bathroom was tiny. Breakfast options were limited. However, the rooms are clean and noise free. Wifi was sketchy and you had to go to the lobby area to get a good connection.

"Pristine, clean and a great location"
Cicero12, 30 Avril 2016

Just read completed at 2 night stay here. Nice hotel located near to Roma Termini and with lots of restaurants close by. The style of the hotel is Art Deco and that is an attraction in itself. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with funky Art Deco styling. The rate includes a really good breakfast of egg, bacon, cereal, baking , cheese and meat etc You are also offered cappuccino, expresso etc. The only downside was the Wifi which was very poor and unreliable for much of anything. The other issue is that when we arrived they were regrouping the carpet and the smell was gross. Fortunately they moved us to a higher floor with a room that was not as nice but it was away from the smell They did apologize for it but it was really gross

"Nice Hotel, friendly staff and great experience"
Teddy_and_Bat, 13 Avril 2016

Nice hotel, probably 10 minute walk from Termini Station which is very nice, since it's feels a lot safer than other hotels near the station. Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant, really enjoyed staying here. Rooms was a good size, with the basics, which is all we needed. I would certainly stay here again.

"Fine place to stay in Rome"
MaxDH, 02 Avril 2016

We stayed three nights in Best West Art Deco, Rome. The location is good, although you better use public transport to visit the attractions. The subway is around the corner and will take you to the many highlights in this scenic city. Termini station is one subway stop or at ten minutes walking distance. The rooms are good and clean, exactly what you can expect with Best Western. For 3 euro you can join the breakfast buffet.

"Good hotel, great staff"
Julianne H, 31 Mars 2016

We had two nights in this hotel at the start of our girls' trip in Italy. It is close to Termini station but a fair walk to most of the major sights. We used the hop on hop off bus tour and the first stop was a short walk so this made the location less problematic. Our room was spacious (by European standards), and was more than adequate for the three of us. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff was very helpful and accomodating. Breakfast in the hotel was €3 - great value!

"Perfectly adequate"
Richard F, 29 Mars 2016

Stayed for 3 nights, room was comfortable. Convent and Turkish Embassy next door so pretty quiet area. Breakfast was help yourself and good. Staff very freindly and helpful. Free wifi wasnt a very strong signal so was unable to stream. Bit of walk to everywhere but the station which is great for burning off excessive calories. Would recommend.

"Wouldn't bother staying here again."
gimpgran, 26 Mars 2016

Pro: The staff members are friendly and accommodating. Con: The beds are very hard with pillows like pancakes. Our non-smoking room had a bathroom with a window that opened onto a terrace where people were constantly smoking - even with the window closed our room was over powered with the stench of smoke. The wifi was very unreliable. Also, the restaurant seemed much more expensive than others in the area. We chose to eat at other excellent restaurants nearby.

"Lovely staff, great location, fabulous value"
martini5655, 18 Mars 2016

As part of a group of four ladies "seeing Rome" I booked us two twin rooms at Art Deco as it looked different from the usual budget hotels. It was fab, the rooms were well appointed and reasonably spacious, clean and comfortable. The reception staff were very patient and helpful and both booking in and out was seamless. We were given great advice about transport and restaurants. The bar and restaurant at the hotel were not really welcoming in the evening but the breakfasts were just what was required and were such good value.

"Definitely recommend "
LindaHS29, 17 Mars 2016

Stayed in February and got this at the last minute for a great price. One stop from Termini and easy to find. Receptionist was lovely and welcoming. The room was quirky with the Art Deco and I thought it was beautifully decorated. Perfectly clean and the wifi worked well which was a nice change. The breakfast was 3 euros each and that was a bargain as they had a lovely selection laid out and piping hot coffee. All the staff were very nice and welcoming. Would highly recommend as the value for money is excellent.

"THE STAFF WAS EXCELLENT!!"
Tony & Zina D, 16 Mars 2016

We had 2 rooms at the Rome Best Western Artdeco just a few days ago. The rooms are a little on the small side but they were clean and served their purpose. The hotel is located near public transportation. The staff was delightful. Everyone on staff made sure that our stay was a pleasant one. One staff member, Gianluca(hope that I spelled his name right) went above and beyond to ensure that we were well taken care of. Thank You to all of the staff at this location.

"Nice location, clean and comfortable"
VJMHelsinki_Finland, 15 Mars 2016

Artdeco is located very close to Termini central station which makes it very easy to travel to and from the airport. The area is nice and peaceful with some little restaurants and mini-market just opposite the hotel. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and might consider staying here again. The only downside was that the room was very warm and the bathroom even warmer. Also the shower was quite tricky - it was hard to find the perfect balance between hot and cold water. Wi-Fi worked ok, but it was weird that the individual codes only worked for 24 hours at a time. The breakfast was worth 3 euros a day with fresh fruit and fantastic pastries.

"Excellent"
traceyAyrshire, 10 Mars 2016

Had a great room on the fifth floor , it had a bath and a shower. Breakfast was really good, great choice. Giorgio in the bar was very friendly and helpful, we would like to say thank you to all the staff for making our stay very enjoyable.

"Would recommend"
Daniel B, 08 Mars 2016

Only stayed for one night, but loved the decor throughout the hotel. Room (and the shower) was abit on the small side and I could only find one socket. Very clean everywhere with patchy WI-FI in the room. It's free though. Rea?ly handy for the train station to the airport.

"EXCELLENT STAY WITH WARM HOSPITALITY"
ketan s, 06 Mars 2016

stayed in the month of February wid my wife. Its near train station hardly 500 mtrs.. Reception desk people were so friendly and always smiling face with excellent piece of hospitality, they helped me a lot regarding booking of taxi and much more things.. Room is perfect wid comfort bedding. However, breakfast part was not good as we were totally veggie couple, not much varieties in Veg item, asked for Omelette but it was told that it is chargeable, otherwise enjoyed our stay... will recommend everyone to stay here..

"Good service"
Babesjackpots, 06 Mars 2016

Great breakfast nice people friendly clean hotel about 15 minutes to the termini station hard if you have luggage ... Taxis charge 20 euro minimum to the hotel because of close distance but I guess if you have heavy items I rather pay 20 euro.

"Good location, fantastic staff"
BlueMinneapolis, 05 Mars 2016

I absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms are decorated with Art Deco accents. My economy room was admittedly tiny, but it was so comfortable, and so faultlessly clean that I didn't mind one bit. The location of the hotel was perfect for the activities on my trip. It's just a couple of blocks from the metro/train station, which I used daily. It's also not all that far from places like the Republic and the Colosseum. I thought it was quite easy to get around from the hotel. The breakfast here was the best I had on the entire trip. The real gem of the Artdeco, though is the staff. They were spectacular. They were always willing to help and guide, and were very good with odd requests and special needs. The housekeeping staff was very patient when I stopped them with questions, and the desk staff offered quite a lot of helpful advice. There were two people in particular I thought really went above and beyond: I didn't catch the name of the afternoon desk manager, but he spoke ten languages and really went out of his way to be gracious. I was also very impressed with a young woman in the dining room named Mihaela, who was so sweet and has an amazing memory. If I ever return to Rome, I will definitely return to the Artdeco. I would recommend it without hesitation.

"Wonderful Hotel, Great Location"
Sami L, 02 Mars 2016

We booked the hotel after seeing good reviews and it definitely lived up to and exceeded expectations. It's located in walking distance from the Castro Pretorio metro station, just 1 stop from the Roma Termini so it's a great location. We could be at the colosseum in under 10 minutes. The surrounding area is very quiet, away from the madness with armed guards from the Turkish Embassy near so it felt very safe to walk around at night. There are some great restaurants, a supermarket, gelaterias and pizza places just down the road also if you don't want to go too far from the hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly, more than willing to answer our questions on where to shop, when the metro closes and opens and offering us breakfast if we wished to have it. Our room was a king comfort room (130 if I remember correctly), which was spacious and very clean, plus a bathroom with a whirlpool bath. It does come with a hairdryer and body wash, shampoo etc so you can leave that stuff at home. Despite being on the 1st floor, the room was very quiet, we were never disturbed by outside noise or anything like that. The room had temperature controls so we could adjust it to how we liked. There's also a safe inside the wardrobe. Overall, we had a great stay and I'd definitely recommend this hotel. My only criticism would be the wifi.. it works but it isn't great. You're given a wifi code which lasts for 2 days so if you're staying longer you'll need to grab another one!

"Enjoyable stay"
René V, 02 Mars 2016

Very nice staff and perfectly clean rooms. Large continental breakfast at low Cost. Hotel in a quiet area near subway station Castro pretorio. With in walking distance of shops, Trevi Fountain and Scalinata Dell Trinita dei Monti.

"Visiting Italia"
Flo S, 02 Mars 2016

The receptionist on shift ( four of them rotating ) are very helpful. Trying their best to answer all are queries. The breakfast is nice. Hotel is close to everything such as train , bus, restaurant and everything. Dominica ( French ) very welcoming!!

"BW Art Deco makes the grade"
Besir W, 01 Mars 2016

The BW website was limited to get an idea on what to expect almost too controlled. However Front Desk, Dining Services have passed with flying colors very minor issue with room that got resolved rapidly. My expectations weren't too high when I first went in, however Front Desk was swift and very courteous in checking in. Antonio and all the Front Desk staff went above the call of duty, patientce, dilligence and excellent hosting sums up my experience. The only drawback is the tax+breakfast fees that are not properly displayed on BW website nonetheless 6 Euro City Tax+3 Euro Breakfast is tolerable. Breakfast buffet has improved compared to the previous posting by another user. Excellent scrambled eggs that were very nourishing, cereal & yoghurt station, pastry station, breads of wide variety and good quality, enchantingly delicious coffee, top, hardworking, very attentive dining room staff. Rooms humble, clean, well kept. Room size is minimal additional power outlets will be needed. The only issue I came across was drainage in the shower, when I brought the issue I was immediately offered a new room and all my clothes were moved which was very convinient. I have no problem recomending BW Art Deco and will continue to bring my bussines.

"Fantastic Hotel- Ignore the negatives"
Sadia B, 29 Février 2016

My fiancee and I have just got back from a 3 night break for his 30th Birthday. We found the hotel to be very welcoming and in a fantastic location. Hotel: If you have ever been to Italy before then you will find the hotel to be traditional and classic. Very relaxed atmosphere. Yes it could do with some maintaining like carpet but wasn't an issue for me. One of the staff members wasn't very friendly or helpful but then again not everyone wakes up happy in the morning. Location: Short walk of Roma Termini station, from where there is a convenient direct railway link to Fiumicino Airport. We arrived at night and it did appear a little unsafe but I suppose wasn't any different to London streets. As we are youngsters we walked everywhere with no problems. The colosseum was a 30 min walk but we took a lovely scenic route, stopped at a few piazzas and had a coffee. Its a 10 minute bus ride to the vatican from Termini Station. All the Piazza's, pantheon and trevi are within walking distance too. Room: Clean, comfortable and lovely decorated. My main thing about hotel rooms is how clean they are and this one is very clean and rooms well maintained. Wifi was a little slow in the room and could of done with a kettle but other than that it was fine. Breakfast: Great selection of cooked scrambled eggs & bacon, pastries, yogurts, fruit and cereals. Cant complain, there was something for everyone. Fabio was lovely always there to serve you a nice drink in the evening. I really enjoyed our stay and would go back. Ignore the negative reviews this hotel is just perfect for overall for visiting the beautiful sights of Rome.

"Great Hotel"
55MaryD1755, 28 Février 2016

Great hotel. Great staff. Beautiful rooms.Very happy with breakfast. It was included in our deal, but it only cost 3euro per day. Hotel close to Metro and bus that take you into heart of Rome. Rome is great city to visit and this hotel was very suitable.

David A, 27 Février 2016

What can I say best hotel staff welcome you as soon as you walk through the doors the room you really get transformed back in time had a fridge and safe room was clean and breakfast spot on 10 out of 10 not far from the termi and about 15 mins from Trevi fountain and Spanish steps would stay there again some great eateries around plus round the corner a cinema showing sexy films adult of course

"Ideal location for seeing the sights"
Jackie D, 12 Février 2016

We returned from a 5 night break in Rome last week never having visited a big city before.Arrived after dark, hotel wasn't difficult to find. First impression was that the area wasn't the nicest , streets dimly lit not many people about. Staff at hotel we're welcoming and helpful ,gave us a map and explained the area and the metro stops. The Art Deco style of the hotel is very nice, some areas need a little attention, the carpet on the staircase is rather worn and as well as being potentially dangerous lets down the rest of the decor. The room was quite small but we'll furnished, large bed was very comfortable, plenty of space for clothes, bathroom clean and all the usual stuff provided.Room was really hot when we arrived I had to turn the heating off.TV in room, hairdryer, wifi was a bit hit and miss.Breakfast was very good great selection and staff friendly.once we got our bearings found that the hotel was in ideal location. 2 mins from the nearest blue line metro station and 5 mins from the Termini accessing all the available transport. A couple of good restaurants nearby we went to the Taverne Pretoriana a couple of minutes away, food lovely and very reasonable, went there most nights. Only real problem in the hotel was the hot water. You could get a fairly warm shower in the morning but in the evening after a long day walking the water wasn't hot enough for a shower let alone a bath .We asked at reception and they sent someone who said he would reset the boiler but it didn't improve until the following evening and even then it wasn't that hot. Would have liked at least a kettle in the room, would have loved a cuppa on returning in the evening especially as the cafe in the dining room didn't seem to be open. All in all was very pleased with the hotel and would recommend as a base for seeing Rome, price we paid was excellent € 378 including the compulsory €50 city tax for 5 nights bed and breakfast. Not in the glamorous hotel area but absolutely fine. Had a fantastic time.

"Below-average in Standard Room, definitely not worth 4 stars"
GypsyKingBrussels, 10 Février 2016

I stayed in this hotel a few years ago in a Superior Room, but now I returned and stayed in a Standard Room as the price was low. HOTEL LOOK AND FEEL: a bit oldish, and low-key from the outside. LOCATION: conveniently located, at walking distance of Roma Termini station, from where there is a convenient direct railway link to Fiumicino Airport. The real centre of Rome is a much longer -though nice- walk. However, there is a subway station located close to the hotel, which brings you there in no time (with the Colosseum only being 3 stops away). ROOM: We stayed in a Superior Room, which was not very spacious and far from sound-proof. Could also be cleaner, especially the bathroom, where the bath tub was meant to be used as a shower but that did not work well as the shower head could not be attached anywhere. The WiFi was not reliable and rather slow. BREAKFAST: poor quality, no fresh croissants (they clearly came from a pre-packed industrial stack and not fresh from a bakery). SERVICE: not very efficient, and in the afternoon it took a while to retrieve the suitcase I had left in keeping after having checked out in the morning - with the taxi waiting outside and the meter running ... Overall, it was just average and certainly not worth 4 stars. But... you do pay the whopping 6 EUR per person per night city tax that applies to 4-star hotels. In other words, there are better deals to be found in Rome, even if you stick to a 3-star hotel in that area.

"Just Loved It!!"
Honky2nks, 09 Février 2016

My husband and I have just returned home after a 3 night stay at the Best Western Artdeco Hotel. The hotel is situated in a quiet area about a 10 min walk from the Termini train/bus station on Via Palestro. Check-in was quick and simple and the lady at reception was very friendly and helpful. Our room wasn't ready but we were able to leave our bags and go off and explore. Our room was on the first floor and we just loved the quirkiness of it. The bathroom was large with a shower over the bath and hairdryer, plenty of towels (the bath towels were large!) and bidet. We had opted for a twin room because it was about £30 less expensive and I'm pleased that we did because the twin beds were pushed together and made an extra large bed!! The room was spotless and had a mini bar, TV & safe in the wardrobe. It was quite honestly one of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in and we've traveled a lot.. Breakfast was included in the rate and was perfectly adequate. It would seem that the buffet is a bit more substantial at the weekend with bacon and scrambled eggs provided as well as extra fruit. There are only two negative things that I can say about this hotel. The first is that the carpet on the main staircase is in places worn right through and this gives that area a somewhat tatty look. The second is that there was one male receptionist who we found to be abrupt and rude, the latter can be avoided by asking one of the other more courteous receptionists if you require help with anything. If we ever visited Rome again we would definitely stay at this hotel again.

"Pretty good stay"
ronant481, 03 Février 2016

Pretty much what I expected. Close to the Metro, staff were nice, bed was comfy, free wifi (although limited to one device - perhaps staff could give additional access if requested, I'm not sure). Criticisms would be: No kettle in the room - disastrous for a tea addict No iron in room - didn't really bother me but could be vital for those traveling on business Shower very cold Positive experience overall :)

"Fun place to stay"
Love2Travel09131974, 27 Janvier 2016

This is a great little place to stay in Rome. Close to Termini. Easy walking distance to many attractions. Helpful hotel staff that helped us get some guided tours set up with pick ups at the hotel. Good value for the prices. The room was small but functional. Nice sized bathroom. Tiny elevator!

"Good value for money"
philcot443, 27 Janvier 2016

Perfectly acceptable rooms for the price, comfy beds, cheesy music channel playing on arrival to the room - I would definitely recommend. We went for the room only option so I cannot comment on the food or other facilities but the staff were great and whoever was there when we checked in was great. I was there for a trip with three friends, I wouldn't say it's good for couples at all but ideal for a mates weekend. The city is so easy to get around that it was in a perfect location and not too far to Termini station at all (5 minute walk). Good local bakery and markets for some easy breakfast, you can pretty much walk around the whole city - the Metro line is a bit restricted but we only used it when we wanted to cover big distances quickly which was rare (do not bother buying the Rome travel passes!). Great hotel, thanks!

"Well worth staying"
Ezpez, 26 Janvier 2016

For us this was a good location - close to Termini and a Subway line. As you leave the hotel turn right and at the end of the block on the left is an EXCELLENT express supermarket "PAM". Go back to the hotel road and keep walking west and you come across a good area for restaurants/bars (just beyond Yellow Hostel). Anyway, the hotel - welcoming reception. Very unusual in reflecting the Art Deco theme - attractive lounges with objet d'art. Lifts are small but efficient. Very clean bedroom and bathroom. Would have preferred hotter water but personal preference. Unusual but very pleasant smelling shower gel. Bed a little soft but good nights sleep. The maid did an excellent job.TV restricted English channels. Even the Art Deco radio worked and the door handles were art deco in style. Breakfast was enjoyable, usual "continental" varieties. Excellent coffee and very helpful and cheerful waiting staff. Would have preferred a variation on the hot meal but the scrambled egg and ham (actually better than trying to cook fatty English bacon) served every day for a week was bit tedious. Improvements need to be made with the WiFi connection. It was a HUGE disappointment. If the occupants of the next room were in and clearly Skyping their family (constantly) we had no signal at all and if we did we often had to sit near the door to get anything resembling a decent signal. Upon leaving we mentioned this the Manager (a very pleasant, approachable man). Usual excuses about Best Western improving this across all their hotels in the next few years (what use is that NOW and for people staying next week!) However, that was it as far as he was concerned - he clearly preferred positive comments to negative ones as he just left it to the Receptionist to make even further ridiculous excuses. In addition we had a code to last us 3 days and then had to get another one which only then lasted a day. We were there for a week why not give us a code for the whole week. Do we need a code for the TV, the water or electricity? The internet is no longer a secret aid to life it but too many an essential tool. In this day and age hotels need to wake up to getting rid of their contracts with companies who provide out dated services. We should be able to simply go to our rooms and the code (for our entire stay) is available on the desk. Finally we left earlier than we wanted too merely because they appear to have no luggage room. All week we noticed that cases were just left at the Reception desk. We did not feel this secure enough. Stay again - yes, provided reports of the internet accessibility improve.

"very artdeco"
Stephanie E, 24 Janvier 2016

Ery nice hotel, this was a mini break present and the person booked it after reading all the positive reviews. The room was very clean, the corridors and stairs could do with some cleaning and changing. The breakfast was plentiful. Would go back there again.

"What it says on the tin !"
Carol W, 18 Janvier 2016

We were very impressed by the themed decor and furnishings - very art deco and good quality pieces reminded me of my grandmother's best sitting room when I was a child. The location is very convenient for the Rome Terminus metro and bus stations whilst being far enough too be a little quieter than the main streets. Breakfast was buffet style with 2 basic cereals, fresh fruit etc on one table, an alcove area set up with croisants, danish and various 'pain au chocolat' etc and home made biscuits and cakes (an assortment of preserves are also available) and the main table set out with breads, cheeses and a hot selection of bacon and scrambled eggs. A reasonable selection but can be monotonous after a day or two. Our room was on the small side but again was matched to my specific specification for a room on the back well away from the lift - what we saw of other rooms when passing suggested they may have been bigger. There is only one lift from the ground floor but there is a second very small lift which goes from the first floor. Housekeeping seemed very on the ball with fresh towels daily and we even had our bed turned down whilst out one evening ! Reception was very efficient. WIFI throught but signal strength varied (best in reception area) - individual wifi passwords allocated by reception. There seemed to be several government buildings (embassies ?) in the area which were guarded by armed soldiers

"Rome lodging"
mark f, 10 Janvier 2016

A very good hotel with a nice breakfast and bar/lounge. The only downside is that the wi-fi did not work well. Also, some of the carpet in the halls is in need of repair. It is a few blocks away from a subway station.

"Overall a good experience"
Lisa K, 07 Janvier 2016

The location isn't that far from Termini station, but if we went back, I'd probably book at the Best Western that was right next to the station instead of this one. It was a 10 min walk, but seemed longer. The room was fine, small, but that's Europe in general. The breakfast was included and that was nice. Pretty filling with eggs, toast, cereal, yogurt, fruit, coffee, etc. We stayed on the 5th floor and walked up every day since the elevator is tiny and took longer than walking.

"Great value, interesting decor, good breakfast"
rkap, 31 Décembre 2015

We just returned from a 6 night stay in Rome at the Hotel Artdeco. I chose the hotel based on the fact that I cashed in points for Best Western gift cards and this hotel was mid-priced of all the Best Westerns. It's not the most conveniently situated (30 minute walk to the "sites") but it is near the metro and bus stop. Pros: interesting decor, friendly staff, great breakfast buffet with interesting local fare, big room (we had a triple with one giant bed and one twin), big bath/shower. Cons: lukewarm water meant we couldn't enjoy the tub/shower, beds were not very comfortable, and although very friendly, the staff was not particularly knowledgeable or helpful in the way that I might expect from a concierge in a tourist area. Also the stairs/tiny elevators may be a con for some--my husband and son had to help carry down luggage for people who took the wrong elevator. All in all we were very, very happy with the accommodations and would recommend this hotel if your budget is mid-range.

"Best people and best location!"

We recently returned from Italy and I have lots of advice to offer. It's lots of random thoughts but I'm hopeful it will help people traveling (or thinking about traveling) to Rome. My first piece of advice to many Americans traveling to Italy is to leave your American standards at home. It's Italy, not America and they have different standards. That being said there are things Italian hotels and most other European hotels do better than us , such as provide a breakfast unlike anything you'll ever see in the states. We purchased a package through our local AAA office. The price included 7 nights in the Best Western Art Deco AND airfare. I don't want to share the actual price but it was less than $1600 per person. If you're a AAA member or Costco check out their package deals. Hotel recommendation: I highly recommend the Best Western Art Deco for a variety of reasons: 15 minute walk to Termini, Rome's main train station 10 minute walk to Via Castro Pretorio station A modern well-stocked grocery store, Pam, was a 5 minute walk The employees at this place are so helpful! The waiters and waitresses at breakfast are delightful! Nice clean rooms and some have king- size beds. Water wasn't hot but it was hot enough. Wifi worked better in some parts of hotel than others but that just wasn't that important to me. I don't know where to post other info about places we went and who we used so I'll just continue here. Recommended tours Dark Rome Tours has an excellent website that's easy to navigate. We did the 3 hour tour of Vatican Museum, Sistine chapel and St Peters. Well organized and our guide, Livia, was so informative. She always took time to answer questions and was a wealth of knowledge. If you want a 3 hour pizza making class for 70 euros per person go to loveforfood.net. We didn't have time to do this but Maite Perez Willis was very good at responding to emails. We took a 45 minute tour of the Colloseo, and used the website Coopculture.it. It's not easy to navigate but basically you can purchase the guided tour by English speaking person of the Colloseum at the ticket office there. You can also include a walk through the Palatine Hilland the Roman Forum. That website doesn't include a person through the other two locations but you can purchase an audio tour. Every single restaurant we frequented was fantastic and worth mentioning: Mama Angela's on Via Palestro 53 Osteria La Carbonara on Via Panisperna Trattoria Grotta Amatriciana Via Príncipe Amadeo , 1 That's about all I've got for now but hopefully this will help someone that is considering a trip to Rome.

"Good hotel with great service"
jennifeeri, 13 Décembre 2015

We had an extended weekend in rather quiet Rome during late November and stayed in this small, well-kept hotel for 3 nights. The location near Termini is handy, and it is not too far to walk around the Rome either. The breakfast was a nice surprise considering the room price: the pastries were tasty, fresh pineapple and other fruits even, scrambled eggs etc. Also, the reception was very attentive for example in borrowing wine glasses. The decor is a bit old with some wear and tear, but still very clean though. There is a handy supermarket and plenty of mini markets nearby as well as great Gelateria La Romana staying open late in the night. Try the restaurants in Monti area (we were pleasantlly surprised by La Carbonara) and the Terme di Diocleziano (with Henry Moore's exhibition) just opposite of Termini station for historical sightseeing. All in all, we had a great short holiday.

"Little tired but great location"
Helen C, 12 Décembre 2015

Stayed for 3 nights on a city break. Plus points are. Nice breakfast, very clean rooms and dining areas, fab location that is a 5 minute walk to main train terminal. Brilliant and friendly staff. Not so plus points. The whole place is very tired in appearance from worn carpets, old lifts and cracking paint on outside walls. The price reflects the overall stay and I would recommend the hotel for cheap and cheerful, but not for a special stay away.

"The perfect place for a city break!"
harto88, 01 Décembre 2015

The décor was really lovely. The room was small but absolutely fine for a city break. Lovely shower and really clean bathroom. The breakfast was fantastic value at 3e and included gorgeous cappuccinos! The breakfast was great and well worth getting. Check out the café right across the street with the green awning for amazing coffees!(and sooo cheap - 1.80 for an espresso and cappuccino, we did a double take at the bill) The area was really safe. Check out Romana Gelateria which is less than five minutes away on Via Piave. It's the best ice cream I've EVER had! The reception staff were efficient and helpful. The wifi isn't great but fine for checking emails etc!

"Great location and service"
janie0032, 28 Novembre 2015

The Hotel is very clean and situated just a few streets away from the Termini, Room was small but that is typical for Rome, The staff very friendly and helpful, The decor is amazing and very retro loved it, The Breakfast was plentiful and varied, I would stay again, Lots of very nice restaurants within walking distance, and the area is very safem

"Nice"
Alex S, 19 Novembre 2015

Stayed here for a sarurday and sunday night stay. About a 10 minute walk from the castro pretorio metro station, felt safe walking in the evening with police and embassy security in the area. Room was nice with comfy bed and nice bathroom. Only drawback is the slow internet so had to go downstair in the lobby for the internet to be decent. Evening guy at front desk was friendly enough. Breakfast offered was great nice choices and great service. Another drawback is on sunday evening could not find restaurant that was open close by ended up walking to termini station for food about a 15 minute walk. Overall a comfortable stay.

"Crappy service but decent value"
Brandon J, 08 Novembre 2015

Overall the hotel itself is pretty nice. The service does not match itàs physical appearance. Whoever the guy is that works the reception desk in the evening was awful and at times unapproachable based on his responses anytime anyone inquired about anything. The hotel recommendation we were given was awful and I believe only because it was in close proximity to the hotel. Any other recommendations could not be given because the reception guy stated he does not eat in Rome when asked about his favorite spot not in the neighborhood. I was told by him that the wi-fi does not work well because all of the guest was accessing it at once. The wi-fi connection was unattainable in our room from the second floor. I had a couple share with me they were on the first floor and could not connect. I tried connecting in the lobby but was repeatedly kicked off the network. The breakfast was ok, the menu for the restaurant attached to the hotel was not appealing.

"easy location"
Frank D, 03 Novembre 2015

Hi this area of rome has four best westerns that i am aware of and i has stayed at all four. I would stay at any one of them again. For this hotel it is an easy walk to/from the main train terminal. There is also a grocery store along the walk. Rooms and bathrooms are typical - breakfast as well. Wi Fi is slow outside the lobby area. Safe neighborhood with several embassies and plenty of security but still very much a neighborhood. Also, a very short walk to Momma Angelos restaurant.

"Wonderful Place Great Experience"
Selinsky, 28 Octobre 2015

We had a very nice room which was very clean and uniquely decorated. The staff was very helpful. The location is excellent because you are walking distance to most of the main attractions in the city of Rome. The breakfast served was superb. No complaints.

"Good value, centrally located, wifi worked well, good restaurant on site"
claymaryjo, 25 Octobre 2015

great access to Termini Train station where you can take the Leonardo Express to the Rome Fiucimino Airport. Service was good, room clean, beds comfortable, my package came with a daily breakfast included which was very tasty. TV offered CNN, BBC and other choices of English broadcasts daily.

"Friendly staff and great breakfast"
Ray R, 21 Octobre 2015

Artdeco has a nice location on a quiet street, walking distance from the Termini train station and hop on hop off bus stop at Piazza della Repubblica. The staff goes out of its way to make sure you have what you need. Their breakfast and dinner meals are exceptional. The rooms are nice, with a large bed and large bathrooms with full tub. No complaints.

"Good hotel close to main station"
alanj2010, 17 Octobre 2015

Great quiet location away from the tourist sites but 10 mins walk from the train station, and good restaurants within walking distance. Talking of restaurants, have to mention Culinaria which is 10 mins walk away and has some of the best food we've ever eaten. As is typical in many city centre hotels, the lifts are small and so can get busy, but the hotel is good value and close to metro stations as well as the main Termini. If you want to walk to the main tourist sites, it's about 35mins walk to places like the Pantheon or Colosseum, but you get to see more of Rome and there are always buses or metro if you don't want to walk.

"We loved it here"
jlip2016, 11 Octobre 2015

We loved this hotel. Coming from the US we really appreciated the character that this hotel has. Our room was very clean and spacious. The staff were also extremely helpful. If you're looking for a nice place to stay around the Termini area I would recommend this hotel. It was about a 10-15 minute walk from either the Termini station (the main train station and metro station) and the Republicca metro station. From what I understand the Termini area is a bit more affordable than other areas though not quite as nice, but we had no problems. If we were to stay in the termini area again I would definitely stay here.

"Excellent value, excellent location and very good staff. Avoid the 5th floor due to lift arrangement"
PMIreland, 05 Octobre 2015

Excellent value, excellent location and very good staff. The hotel is 10 minutes from the Termini and close to very nice restaurants. The front desk staff have excellent English and are full of knowledge. If you stay on the fifth floor the lifts are a little messy. You can climb the stairs to the first floor and take a small lift to the 5t floor, this is not for the claustrophobic. You can take a lift to the 4th floor and climb one set of stairs (the better option). The restaurant was excellent for breakfast.

"Delightful Hotel in a Great Location"
Debbie K, 05 Octobre 2015

This hotel is in a great spot near Rome Termini. The facility is lovely with a nostalgic appeal. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are fairly helpful and the morning breakfast is rather nice. The room rates are very reasonable for the quality of the facility and the location. We wanted to spend four days in Rome during our Euro vacation. I am a Best Western Platinum member and generally find BWs to be of good quality in Europe. After seeing the location and the rate for this hotel, it seemed like a good bet. The proximity to Termini made it a very convenient base for sightseeing. The walking time to the station was less than ten minutes and there were also several restaurants that could be easily reached on foot. We arrived in this case by taxi. The driver had no problem finding the hotel. The curb appeal was nothing exceptional and the lobby area was smallish but quite nicely arranged. However, the impressive decor lived up to the name of the hotel. We were checked in quickly by a pleasant front desk clerk and given a room on the second level. The facility layout was interesting as the middle staircase was quite attractive. Our room was further to the back of the hotel, however, in what appeared to be a separate wing. On entry to our room, we were impressed with its spaciousness. We had three in our party including our daughter and we found the room to be quite adequate for our trio. The room was clean and the bathroom was quite functional. The view was nothing special but the air conditioning functioned well and the bed was comfortable. The noise level was also reasonable allowing us to get good sleep. The amenities were generally in order but the one issue regarding the hotel was that the internet did not function much of the time. It was very difficult to maintain connection suggesting the bandwidth was inadequate. This was the only major flaw, however. The morning breakfast featured a decent amount of seating in the dining room. There were many favorites available on the buffet including hot items such as eggs and meat. There were also plenty of cold items such as breads, cereals, deli meat, yogurt and fruit. The room rate was quite reasonable for the quality of the accommodations and proved to be the best feature of this establishment. Our rate was €102.60 per night for four nights. This was about $115 USD with the exchange rate at the time. I felt this was a very good deal. Overall, this hotel provides a great base to see Rome. The location is terrific as it is within easy walking distance of Termini train station. There are also many attractions in Rome that can be reached on foot from the hotel. There are several nearby restaurants making the stay more convenient. The facility is rather lovely and nostalgic. The rooms are comfortable, the service is good and decently friendly and the morning breakfast is quite good. The room rate is more than reasonable considering the quality of the hotel, making this place a very good bargain. I would not hesitate to stay here again should the occasion arise.

"Location and Value"
Travelmom29, 04 Octobre 2015

I am a travel agent and pretty "picky" so when I found the BW Artdeco near Rome Termini I was thrilled. Traveling solo, a woman - location and safety was first priority and I felt the hotel delivered. I walked from the train station late in the afternoon and felt safe. I also ventured out for dinner later in the evening. My room was very well appointed and my only complaint was the lighting WAS SO DIM, I could not find anything in my suitcase. Breakfast was included in my room and had plenty to offer although staff was scarce if you needed something special. I would return and will recommend this to my clients.

"Lovely hotel in the heart of Rome"
Heather S, 03 Octobre 2015

Very clean and well appointed hotel. The front desk staff were a little slow on check in, but the beds were comfy and the complimentary breakfast appreciated. A close walk to many key areas...Rome termini and the Piazza Republico. Shopping and great restaurants in the area as well.

"Lovely tranquil atmoshere, away from the crowds"
Felicityanne, 02 Octobre 2015

The staff here are so helpful and welcoming, organising taxis, advice about sightseeing, directions, looking after bags, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast set you up for the day. We had a large four poster bed and a jacuzzi in the bath (very relaxing after all the walking!). Quiet and safe location. 10 - 15 minute walk from the main station and a 30 minute walk to Trevi Fountain. But hop on hop off bus close by as is a metro station.
