"best western comes through as expected"
David R, 28 Octobre 2023

I have always found Best Western hotels meet my needs. That was certainly the case with Best Western Blu in Rome. The room was comfortable and convenient, the breakfast was great and the staff was properly attentive.

"Great service. Tiny room."
Jade K, 28 Août 2023

The service at the counter is great but the room was small with a double bed pushed against the wall and not much room to move beside it. The shower is also very small. There's a fridge but no tea/coffee making facilities. You can buy coffees and alcoholic beveridges at reception if that's your thing. It's about a 15 minute walk to the Metro station.

"Great stay, even better staff"
AlishiaW829, 26 Janvier 2023

Stayed here for 5 days on a trip to Rome. Bus stop is conveniently located across the road which goes to a great station where you can take the underground to the heart of Rome. The staff were great, but Marco made us feel right at home. Fantastic person to assist you on your stay and a real asset to the team. Breakfast was good, lots of Roman eats and treats. Room was spacious. Washing line in bathroom was great for wet swimming trunks. Beds were reasonably comfortable. Would recommend to anyone who does not feel like paying an exorbitant amount to stay in the centre of Rome. Taxi ride to Rome was about €15 so not too bad if you do not want to use public transport. Thank you for the millennials deals as well. Great offering.

"City Break"
WendyATRebello, 08 Octobre 2022

We checked in late night around 2am and we had our room ready for us. Breakfast buffet was amazing and lots of choices from English to Continental foods. We booked this hotel mainly as it was reasonably priced and close to Rome and Vatican City. Room was perfect for a good night sleep. All amenities and bed/bath essentials were replenished everyday. If anyone planing to have a hotel for bed and breakfast this is great choice.

"2.5 stars - good not great."
Chelsea1248, 21 Septembre 2022

The room did not smell pleasant and was not very clean. Bed made with only a sheet and flat pillows. Extra pillows and blanket offered, abnormal to not have them on the bed. AC worked great. Staff nice

"An experience that ruined my holidays"
719michalisp, 18 Juillet 2022

Really disappointing hotel. The worst of the Best Western chain. The manager of the Hotel was rude and impolite. As we were discussing about a difference in the charging fees, he started shouting and swearing in Italian in front of my family that includes two children. Not only the hotel overcharged me, but the manager's behaviour was unprofessional and aggressive. Regarding the hotel facilities, no comments. Really disappointed. An experience that ruined my holidays.

"Budget hotel"
Ron M, 26 Octobre 2019

Neat, clean and provided the basics, but only the basics. Bed and pillows were like sleeping on cardboard. Limited availablilty for date provided few atternatives. Reminded of Motel 6 in the U.S., but more costly.

"The staff makes the difference"
Irina J, 25 Octobre 2019

We stayed for 4 nights at Blu Hotel and it was the best thing about our entire trip. We travel a lot and get in touch with all kind of hotel staff, but the guys here were really nice and helpful. Not only they went out of their way to explain to us what to visit and the best ways to get to the objectives, but they also had nice advice about transportation, what bus & metro to take, what areas to avoid and what are the best hours to do so. The front desk staff was amazingly nice (cheers to Roberto and Daniel), also Ciprian and the breakfast team (Larisa and Catalina) were always smiling and helping everyone who required their assistance. A big plus for the hotel is the fact that it isn't situated right in the heart of Rome = more quiet time for us after 6 hours of walking through the crowd & traffic. Really nice and safe neighbors, had no problems in the 5 days spent there. Another big plus is the 409 bus station situated at few minutes of walking, fast connection to Tiburtina Station from where you can easily pick a bus or subway best suitable for your needs. The hotel has floor tiles and few areas are carpeted, so for some it could be noisy, but it compensates with the cleanliness and the nice staff.

"The worst hotel ever!!!! It is the most run down hotel ever."
Tasha8701, 18 Octobre 2019

This is a very very ugly, old, run down hotel. It is definitely not worth the price. The neighborhood is also terrible, it doesn't feel safe. I suspect this is the hood of Rome. Staying there killed the whole holiday vibe. This is the worst decision i made. My kids also hated it.

"Rome Vacation"
Michael A, 09 Octobre 2019

We had an awesome time in Rome. Our hotel was very nice, and the staff were great. Especially Lorenzo who made us feel very welcomed and like VIPs. He is such a nice man and very accommodating. The rooms were very tidy and comfortable.

"Very pleased"
Anna J, 29 Septembre 2019

Really pleased with our stay here. Hotel rooms really comfortable although the beds are very firm. The reception staff are incredibly helpful and very pleasant. The hotel is quite a way out of the city centre - about a 20 min taxi drive for €15. There is a large supermarket just opposite the hotel and further down on the right is a fantastic little pizza place where you can get a large pizza for €3.50 amazing!! Would recommend this hotel if you dont want to be in the city centre or donr mind travelling.

"One of the worst hotels we ever stayed!"
Sino-French, 22 Août 2019

The guy at the reception was rude, arrogant. We asked for the bus info and where to take the bus to the subway. The receptionist was really impatient, it's like that bothered him to explain it to us. The hotel room is extremely small and simple! Stay away from this hotel. There are much better ones near Rome.

"The restaurant has an extremely low standard"
Kristian T, 07 Août 2019

We were 28 people who stayed three nights at Best Western Blu Hotel Roma. The staff in the reception was friendly and service minded. The rooms were very small. But they were clean and of an acceptable standard with a small fridge. During our stay we had dinner twice in the restaurant. I cannot recommend it. One evening they served grilled meat on skewers. It was very dry and I am sure that it was leftovers from the day before. There was a meat ball, some pork and some meat that I couldn't identify. It tasted as if the meat came from another dish from yesterday and had been put on the skewers so it could be cooked once more. Another evening the waiter by accident lost a small piece of pasta on the floor while he was serving me. He said “hopla”, and then he ran to the next table to serve. I was curious to see if he came back to pick up the pasta on the floor. But he did not! When we finished the dinner it was still lying on the floor next to my chair. On the last morning we had to leave early to go to the airport. Our guide asked if the breakfast buffet could open up 15 minutes earlier. The answer was no. Because they didn't receive fresh bread that early. The answer was very strange, because there was no fresh bread at all in the buffet on any of the mornings. The bread was so dry that it had to be put in a toaster. In the breakfast buffet I also found old slices of mortadella to put on the bread. It tasted so bad that I couldn't eat it. In the room there was a form which could be used to evaluate the hotel. If I wrote my email address on it I could win a dinner in the restaurant. I decided not to write my email address. I am surprised that a four star hotel can have a restaurant of such a low standard. The hotel itself is ok - just don't eat in the restaurant.

"Rome trip"
Sandy B, 24 Juillet 2019

Quite basic but comfortable. Restaurant on site nice food but expensive. It's ok for an overnight stay. Bit on the peripheral for centre of Rome but taxis are in abundance and can't charge more than 20 euros.

"Satisfying stay in Rome"
sachinnano, 06 Juillet 2019

Stayed on a family vacation here in a quadruple room. Little long to reach from airport, it took around 45 minutes in a seven seater car that we hired. We were greeted by the on duty staff at reception. Indian travellers please note that there are no bell boys to carry your stuff so be mentally ready to carry your suitcases of your own. Decent room absolutely fine for family of two adults and 2 kids. Hotel is around 5-7 minutes car/bur ride from Roma Tiburtina so the connectivity is excellent. You can get bus ticket from a bar next to the property. Sleep quality is good and the bedding provided is enough. Missed carpet in the entire room as a small carpet was kept only in a middle of the room. Breakfast had decent verity of croissant, fruits, yogurts, sausages etc.

"Farther out from Rome's center"
Jet585593, 26 Juin 2019

The accommodations were very nice but we ended up not staying there. We paid for one night (even though we didn't stay, because it was too late to cancel without the charge), and cancelled our second night. We wanted to be closer to Rome so we could walk to all areas. You are not able to do this if you stay at this hotel. It wasn't too far from the train station, but again we wouldn't have felt comfortable walking from the train station to the Blu Hotel Roma in the evening.

"Very friendly stuff"
Miseropia, 25 Juin 2019

Plus-The hotel is very handy. Is not in the central area, but easy acces. Clean rooms, with balcony(if you ask on reception). Catalina is one of the best staff over there. She is very helpful and always with a lovely smile on her face. Minus- if you have a car, you must to pay if you want to park in there proximity. Overall, i recommend this hotel, close to tangenziale and easy acces to get outside Rome for trips.

"Hotel Manager forcibly checked my daughter's mobile for pictures."
PallabD44, 17 Juin 2019

At breakfast, we were told by the hotel waitress to vacate a table in one section of the breakfast area and sit in a different area, with her exact words "Senor, you cannot sit here". Later when I asked another staff whether they had reservations for the area in which we wished to sit, he replied in the negative. We were told that the lady "thought" we were part of a "group" (of Asians), which does not explain why she thought so, nor why such a member cant sit in the section we chose. Even more sinister was the action of a senior manager who rudely indicated that the lady thought so because she saw us coming with the group. This cannot be true since we came in a separate lift and even the senior manager saw us getting off the lift. When we were returning to our rooms, he stopped our lift and forcibly checked my daughter's mobile to find out whether she had taken any pictures -- with the stated reason that taking pictures was prohibited in the reception and breakfast area. I have been to all parts of the world and have never come across a hotel which prohibits taking pictures in any of the areas accessible to guests. And we have never had such an experience with the hotel staff anywhere else.

"Good option for a stay in Rome"
Marks281172, 16 Juin 2019

I stayed at the Best Western Blu in Roma for 2 nights in June 2019. This was a short business trip. I found the hotel to be clean and well organised. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was limited choice wise, but what was available was tasty and well presented, I enjoyed the pastries and coffee. The room was quite large and clean and the air conditioning worked well which was good as it was 35c while I was in there. It is a short walk to the nearest metro or a bus ride but we took a taxi to the city centre which was around 20 euros. If I were staying longer in Rome I would prefer a hotel with its own restaurant and perhaps a pool or gym, but for value for money, this hotel would be hard to beat.

"Poor location, service and small rooms."
626michaelh, 09 Juin 2019

The hotel is advertised as “semi-central”, the reality is it took 90 minutes to walk from the centre/45 minutes by public transport/35 minutes by taxi, given the expense of taxis in Rome, this removes any saving for not staying centrally- so don't do it, just book a central hotel. The staff were rude, failing to recognise status with Best Western and left me with the impression that I was an inconvience to what they had been doing when I turned up for check in, and check out they just wanted the money for the tax, without so much of a thank you for staying or how was your stay. The room was very small for a double and lacked an iron, ironing board and only had a very small TV. The shower water temperature kept going from hot to cold and no shower gel was provided. There was only one bath towel and it was very small. Overall, avoid this hotel.

"small room but clean and comfortable"
yousefpa, 24 Mai 2019

the hotel is very clean ,good thing that there is no carpets and all ceramic ,bathroom and shower is very good and practicable. Breakfast is very good as well.20 minutes to metro but two bus service to metro.

"Hotel 10 minute drive from S. Maria del Soccorso station, good for budget"
Timbo5431, 21 Mai 2019

Stayed here as it was close to a metro station to take into Rome the next day. Did its job, clean rooms, friendly staff, and a good breakfast. If you do not have a vehicle, then I wouldn't recommend staying here, as it is a very long ways to walk to the part of Rome you want to see.

"With Love, From Your Chiropractor "
touristasnow, 17 Avril 2019

If you like sleeping on your ironing board, you are going to love the beds at this place. Leave your spines at home. Don't say I didn't warn ya. Good location and good if you are just looking for the basics.

"Friendly, clean, morden hotel with nice size rooms, but not centrally located. Great choice for budget minded travels"
Carrigjj, 16 Avril 2019

The hotel is very nice and good price. The staff is friendly and helpful; the rooms are clean and safe. However, if you are touring the main sites in Rome this hotel is very far. You have to either tax a taxi or take a bus to the metro and then the train in. Also, there is a city tax added to your bill of 6 euros per person per night, so be aware as I don't see it on the website. They have breakfast for an extra 6 euros per person. You can add this on to your reservation, but it's the same price if you do that or if you just pay as you go. I recommend not adding to your reservation, becuase you don't save any money that way and you may night eat the breakfast every day. The selection is good, with a selection of crossiants, breads, jams, cake, yogurt, cereal and coffee. Most days there was also eggs and some type of sasauge (seemed like cut-up hotdogs). I would recommend you eat at the local cafe that is on the way to the metro station, much better. Also, the room has no working thermostat. We were there in April and the heat in the room was too much that we had to open the window every night. Also, you are supposed to have a coffee maker in the room, but ours didn't have. Overall though this is very nice hotel at a great price for the budget minded.

"One day in Rome."
Travel65736858186, 13 Avril 2019

Guy on the desk was fluent in English, very helpful, very competent. Room was small but adequate and the bathroom was spacious, well laid out and spotlessly clean. Good breakfast with a better than average range of options, staff were suitably attentive. Chose the hotel as I was arriving and leaving Rome at the nearby railway station but totally content with what I got. Hotel restaurant is closed on Sunday but there's an excellent pizzeria 5 minutes walk up the road.

"An 1-or-2 star hotel claims to be a 4-star hotel"
josemedinamd, 12 Avril 2019

My wife and I arrived at this hotel on a Sunday at 2:00 PM. The first eyesore I noted was the deteriorated façade. Gravel spilled from a rundown street into an unkempt courtyard at the entrance of the establishment. Across the street were a partially demolished brick wall and neglected houses. The service desk had only a receptionist who treated us courteously, handed us a map, and warned us about crime in Rome. No bell desk, no concierge, and no restaurant because it closed on Sundays. The room was very small. A little low-framed double bed had been crammed against the walls, so it allowed a narrow space for one person to move inside the room. If in the middle of the night you needed to go to the bathroom, you would have to climb over your bedmate or slide down to the foot of the bed. One reading lamp hung above a single rudimentary nightstand. Across from the bed, a doorless wardrobe stood in a corner, almost attached to the nightstand. It contained several hangers and a tiny safe. A plain corner desk with one simple chair sat next to a little window. A small TV hung above the desk on the same wall where a hair dryer hung too. The bathroom had a small shower, no bath—although the website had indicated shower/bath—a sink for a single guest, a plain toilet and a bidet. Back in the reception area on our way out to another hotel, the receptionist was kind enough to call a taxi for us.

"Friendly staff, clean, good value"
sled737, 09 Avril 2019

Our soccer club team with close to 40 travelers stayed at the Blu. Hotel was clean and all the staff was very nice. Breakfast on the morning had hot items (eggs and bacon) along with other continental breakfast items. Expresso machine was a favorite for all. The Tubertina subway station is about a 10-15 minute walk which will allow you access into Rome center. Our group found several places to eat outside of the hotel but our favorite restaurant was a Italian place on the way to the subway station just before the main intersection. There is a grocery store also across the street from hotel. Security was good and nobody had any problems while in the area for the week. Since we were in between cool and hot seasons, the A/c system was not working and needed to open windows for ventilation and cooling. The fresh air was nice but this would be my only complaint about the hotel if your traveling between seasons there. Otherwise good, clean value hotel in the suburbs of Roma with easy access into the city center.

"Very Clean and Friendly Hotel"
P H, 24 Mars 2019

We stayed in the Best Western Blu for three nights in March 2019. The room we had was small and basic, double bed which was comfortable and the shower was quite good. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we didn't have a kettle for tea & coffee in the room, when we asked the staff arranged this with fresh milk twice a day. Breakfast is the usual continental breakfast. The hotel also has free wifi which is good enough for Netflix or Amazon video streaming. The location of the Hotel is ok, there's not much around the hotel within walking distance, however there is a bus stop across the road from the hotel, there is tabak shop which sells travel cards (only had one journey cards in stock when we went, 1.5 euro) Bus 409 takes you to Stazione Tiburtina station within 10 minutes, from this station you get get the metro direct to the Colosseum metro stop, overall journey time around 20 minutes. A taxi from Rome centre back to the hotel will cost between 15 - 25 euro depending where you take a taxi from. I have marked this hotel a three due to the location otherwise i would have given a four.

"Good Customer Service Changes Everything!"
ravitlu, 21 Février 2019

At first, we were a bit disappointed. The room we saw on Booking.com didn't resemble in any way to the one we got, but I Can't think of many complaints aside from needing to ask for a few things throughout our stay (Tea Kettle, restock certain items) We had a nice stay but as far as 4 Star hotels go, I've stayed in a much better, Still It was a great value for money. The room was very clean and the Hotel staff was delightful, extremely professional, welcoming and happy to help. On our last day we had to rush to the airport early before breakfast, the guy at the front desk who checked us out rushed to the dining room and came back as we were loading our luggage onto the taxi, with two brown bags full of goodies!! Sandwiches, Pastries, Croissants, jams, fruits, juice and water bottles! We were blown away by the amazing gesture. That breakfast to-go he packed for us positively changed our first impression and I will definitely remember this hotel if I should visit Rome again.

"So Italy in my eyes"
313valeries, 12 Février 2019

We were treated very well by all the staff. They have a fine restaurant in house. Breakfast for only additional $6 was fabulous way to start each day of sight seeing. Room was clean and modern. Only one thing to watch for is bed size. Our king was a queen. I really thank the staff there for making our stay in Rome wonderful.

"Fine room, foor and internet"
bergbakker2, 09 Décembre 2018

The room was clean and OK and the breakfast and lunch were not bad. If you think about using the bar below think again. THere are better places nearby. And time your time for coming and leaving cause it may take a while (even if you are in a hurry).

"A good clean hotel"
MFC1963, 07 Décembre 2018

Stayed for five nights in this hotel. The accomodation is clean and the staff were friendly. The room is essentially basic, the shower was small (a colleague had a shower in the bath set up) and the room is not expansive. If you like TV and you cannot speak Italian, there are only two English channels - CNN and BBC news. Dry Cleaning and laundry - if put through the hotel - is not same day for return, it will return in the evening the following day. Breakfast was consistent - bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs. A bit of a walk to the train station (12 minutes) but there is a bus service. Lifts operate in the building and there is a 24 hour reception and complimentary wifi.

"Good hotel , great value for the money but dont stay here if you need reliable wifi"
GREGORIO D, 19 Novembre 2018

No complaints about this hotel , everything was good except the the wifi connection which worked very poorly on the night of check in, and then the next morning it was not working at all. This was very inconvenient the morning of check out because I had to use the internet to make calls on Skype and book my next hotel destination. When I asked the front desk staff to address the wifi issue they simply said , " nothing we can do that is the way it is , sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't " There is no excuse for this , I mean really, if a hotel advertises something that comes with the room like breakfast , or a bed in the room and then you check in and one of these items is missing, then you didn't get what you paid for. Same thing with the internet , I didn't get what I paid for and I will be requesting a partial refund. Other than this , it is a great hotel on the outskirts of the city with good access to the major highways.

"Nice stay in Rome"
Curious30923285755, 14 Novembre 2018

Reached the hotel early, before "check in time", but the front desk manager was exremely helpful and got us a room early so we could relax & take a nap after a long red eye flight. The room was clean and inviting. Staff very helpful & friendly. We would stay there again in the future.

"Budget 4-Star Hotel"
CaptAhab45, 02 Juillet 2018

I'll be upfront in stating that this hotel was selected for me by a travel agency. I had asked for a 4-Star hotel near the Roman Coliseum and this is the hotel they gave me. That being said, I have to say that the service desk manager, Daniel, was a huge help in resolving a major issue caused by our travel agent, Tui. The travel agency failed to provide the ages of all our family members and then we would have been on the hook for an additional bed. Daniel called up the agency on his end as we were getting nowhere with the agent and he managed to get them to adhere to the contractual agreement. Here are some of the things that I liked about the hotel.. The rooms were very clean and you could tell that they kept them in check. The room where we slept was very peaceful and quiet. I think having a room in the back corner made a huge difference. It was really a good layout. The hotel provides free Wi-Fi access throughout the hotel. Although the children did complain about the connection, it was good enough for me to surf the web. I'm guessing that they wanted to watch videos and perhaps the internet speeds weren't quite fast enough for this. I should also mention that the hotel provides a PC and printer free of charge. This is very handy as I was able to print out my return flight boarding passes for the family. Although the hotel doesn't seem to have any rooms with a living room suite, getting the deluxe room with a king size bed made for a room that didn't feel too cramped. You definitely wouldn't want to live out of the room but if you are going downtown to see the sites, this shouldn't be an issue. Here are the issues that I found with the hotel...The mattress on the bed was very firm. It's probably one of the firmest mattresses that I have slept on. Since I have a bad hip, I would wake up in pain every now in then due to the pressure spot caused by the firm mattress. Most 4-Star hotels would offer one bottle of water complementary for each of the guests. This hotel does have water but they will charge you 3 Euros for each bottle. If you plan to stay here, stock up on water at a grocery store or when in town. The hotel (during the summer months at least), has air conditioning. The only bad thing is that the AC doesn't run while your out of the room. The room has to be activated with your hotel key in order for the AC to stay on. This means that you'll probably want to get back to your hotel a bit early if you don't want the room to be a bit on the warm side. Management informed me that the AC does turn on when you are out but it's set at something like 25C. I felt the room was a bit warm but after about 90 minutes of running the AC, the room would get comfortable. This hotel is not the best hotel if you are wanting to avoid using a taxi or public transportation to reach the main sites in Rome. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the main subway station. If you are booking this hotel to save money at the expense of convenience, you may not mind at all. The breakfast is a bit sub-par for a 4-Star hotel- The only hot foods (not counting toast) they serve for breakfast is scrambled eggs (not bad) and bacon/hot dogs. If you get to breakfast right when they open, they will have bacon. While I stayed there, they would always refill the bacon container with hot dogs. I wouldn't mind this if this was lunch, but hot dogs are a bit cheap for a 4 star establishment. Overall, I was waffling between rating the hotel between 2-3. The excellent customer service provide by Daniel really made the difference here. I can only give the hotel a 3 at best because it does not meet my expectations as a 4-Star establishment. This hotel would probably rate a 4-5 if it were advertised as a 3 star hotel as it is clean and well maintained. With them charging for water in the room, a lackluster breakfast selection, uncomfortable bedding, and being quite a distance from the main sites in Rome, I can only rate this hotel as a 3. If you are looking for a 4-Star hotel but are on a budget, this may be the hotel for you. Just keep in mind that you definitely get what you pay for.

"Overall Good Experiance"
jvince130758, 18 Mai 2018

- Good Hotel and a comfortable rooms, breakfast was good, near to bus stops and super market, 5 min from metro station - We heard many negative comments on the location from the cab driver and other local people such as the place is not safe after evening hours and people can come and ask for money threatening us but its always advisable not to roam around after sun set and not to walk from the metro station to the hotel and its better to catch bus from the metro to the hotel. -Please avoid the restaurant which is there in the Hotel as the service is not good and not worth the money we pay.

"Not worth it "
MiMoSS, 30 Avril 2018

Best Western Blu We got there at 1:30, they said check in is at 3pm. I said no it says 1pm in Expedia. He said give them 30 minutes and room should be ready. Not happy because we were tired!!! AC not working properly, it gets hot in d room. On our 2nd night I asked the front desk staff to ask someone to check our AC, he said yes, did something on his desk (we were thinking that he got the main control there because when we got to our room, we could hear it working). Around 2-3am, although we can still hear it working it is still warm. So I asked again... still feels the same! On our 5th night, I asked again because when we got to our room, it feels like a sauna, very hot! So I went down to ask again and the guy said that, because of the weather, it's the law that he can't do anything, meaning they have to turn off all the AC and for us to just open the window!!! WHAT??? Just imagine my reaction! Who would be happy about this! No body said anything like that when I complained the 1st and 2nd time. So went back up, and opened the windows, guess what!? There's no screen on the window, mosquitoes, big bugs, dust, intruder can just go in! Will you feel safe? Water in shower is very hard to control, one tiny, little move and it gets cold, you move it again and it gets hot! You'll never get the temperature you want! TV channels all italian! Bus takes forever to come so you'll end up walking 15-20 minutes to get to Tiburtina Station. The bed is so HARD, back hurts every time we would wake up. Can't continuously put the Do Not Disturb by the door, the lights go away if you're not in the room, so even if you don't want anybody to clean your room when you're away, no choice! Probably, need to mention to the front desk not to clean. Tiny fridge that gets your beverage just a tad cold. No microwave. With all this complains... Pros: the room and bathroom is always clean. Housekeeping is doing an excellent job! Would we come back and stay again or would we recommend... NO!!! The AC problem makes the firm NO!!! If you don't mind sweating at night while you sleep and getting ready in the morning, go ahead and book! Plus the walking every morning because of the bus problem and the distance to the train station, definitely NO! Btw, weather is almost at 70's to 80's is that cold enough to turn off the AC? Update: checked to see if there's really a law about the AC and apparently what I read from TripAdvisor is very common to our experience. Our first time here in Rome and I guess we can't really do anything about it. Just wondering now, how come on our third night we could hear the AC working and weather wise it's all the same the days that we were here?! Wifi is always good. Elevator, they have 2 and it's always fast!

"Our stay at Best Western Blu Rome"
Juliaann6, 26 Avril 2018

We came back home after a 7 day stay at the Best Western Blu Roma. While we enjoyed our stay at this Hotel from Tues 17th April, we had a few bumps at the beginning whereby we were given the smallest room, number 258 (last 3 photos) & were extremely disappointed. There was absolutely nowhere to hang our clothes, (7 days worth) there was a small open wardrobe, which also housed the suitcase rack, plus the bed which was the minimum size for a double was up against the wall which neither of us liked & with me having reduced mobility was virtually impossible for two people.. the room was geared up for one person only..one bedside cabinet..one bedside light..space for one suitcase etc...a single room with a small double... we went down to reception & explained that this was not: a) a suitable room for two people for 7 nights with 7 nights worth of clothing (which we had to leave in the suitcases as nowhere to put them) and :b) not suitable for my mobility problems.. The nice guy on the desk was very sympathetic & explained that we could not be moved until another room was available as the hotel was full to capacity & could we please wait until Thursday morning, 2 nights for another room. This we agreed to. Thursday Morning we were at the desk for our room change.. this was another man, we assumed he was the Manager who very nicely pointed out that our booking with Love Holidays stated “economy room” ( I will come to Love Holidays in a while)..and that is our economy room.. I then said I was unaware that this was booked as economy, that we had paid quite a lot for this booking but that it was most unsuitable for two people, one with mobility problems for 7 days & that it was more suitable for one person occupancy for overnight.. we also showed him what we had paid for our booking, nearly £600.. I think this made a difference so this he acquiesed to & we were given room 322..(first 4 photos )voila, it was a lovely double room with plenty of wardrobe & cupboard space & I was no longer bumping myself in & out of bed etc plus the bathroom was lovely too..we were very happy bunnies after that.. All the staff are lovely & friendly (except the man behind the bar who wasn't) & help you find your way in, out, & around Rome via the bus, metro & train system which is very efficient. They gave us a little map, showed us where to get the bus to Tiburtina Station & that was it, we were on our way & whizzed everywhere on the underground system. The only drawback being the 409 bus from the hotel which was ok on the way to Tiburtina Station but a complete nightmare on the way back if you were caught in the middle of rush hour..so choose your bus times carefully unless you are a sardine! More about the hotel, staff are lovely, both behind the desk, cleaning staff & in the breakfast room where they lay out a lovely breakfast with eggs, sausages, tomatoes, cereal, juice, homemade cakes & patries, bread, cheese & ham & fruit. The waitresses are so pleasant & will do you a speciality coffee of your choice. The rooms are cleaned every day & are equipped with a fridge, tv, safe & hairdryer, soap & shower gel is supplied & topped up daily. However, you have to ask for a kettle which you keep for the duration of your stay but apart from the first day, you do not get top ups of tea & coffee so best to take your own supply. Beds are firm, but comfortable, pillows a little bit hard. We would definately come back again..... a word of advice, try & book direct with the hotel, as our booking with Loveholidays, who then sub out to “hotel beds” meant they took a reasonable price for our booking but then downgraded us to an “economy room” even though nowhere on our requests was this ever asked for...we asked for a double room which we assumed would be a certain standard, yet the price we paid, £600 would have got us a superior room with a balcony for 95euros a night....not the Hotels fault at all & I am grateful that they understood our situation..

"Not a 4* hotel in my opinion"
IrishTravelBlogger18, 30 Mars 2018

No free water provided in the room, had to pay €2 if I wanted a bottle from the mini bar ... could hear dogs barking (dogs are allowed to stay) yet they complained if the slightest bit of noise was made ... the floor vent in the bathroom was FULL of dust .... cakes for breakfast?!?! (Among other stuff), scrambled eggs tasted as if they had been ready a while... no free tea/coffee available in the room- not even a kettle ... not the best location, nothing worth seeing within walking distance, a taxi is needed

"Was ok"
Thalie1965, 18 Février 2018

I only spent one night here, originally I rented an apartment by Borghese park but had decided to spend an extra night in Rome before leaving for France, so a friend suggested this hotel, it was in an ordinary location a little confusing to get around, taxi had a hard time finding it as well, it was clean I had a lovely deck that I did not use, it was quiet and I had a well appointed room, breakfast was included and looked wonderful but I don't eat in the morning so I can say how it tasted but it did look good, the coffee was divine, all in all it was a good experience, I would not choose this location for a long stay it really is far from most of the tourist spots.

"Easy.going and yet elegant, comfortable hotel close to Tiburtina railway station"
65Guglielmo, 11 Janvier 2018

This hotel corresponds to the known Best Western standards and is located close enough to Roma Tiburtina railway station (and underground). Rooms are large enough and quiet, breakfast up to German standards and a restaurant within the hotel (close only on Sundays and Saturday at lunch time, clearly open on Saturday night)can be recommended

"Very good hotel"
Tim F, 07 Octobre 2017

stayed here on a business trip recently and found the hotel very good even when only paying for a basic room. Staff understand English very well as well which is a massive bonus when you don't know any of there language. Very easy to get to and from the hotel with the transport they can arrange for you you, it will cost around 50 Euro from FCO airport and only takes around 30 - 60 minutes depending on traffic. The one down side but nothing major is this hotel is a distance from any of the attractions but only a short walk from the metro which will allow you to get to attractions without any issues.

"Great value and close enough to the centre of Rome"
ladyofvictory4u, 30 Septembre 2017

I was at this hotel the last week of September. I returned home yesterday and already miss the nice people. By all means, this hotel is not a five-star property however, the room is big enough, has a balcony, and it is always clean. The housekeeping staff is very efficient and helpful. If you need extra supplies, you will be given what you ask for without question. There is a safe in the room however it is small. The front desk staff is amazing. No task is too big or too small. I was always greeted with a good morning and a good night as I left and entered the hotel. I always felt like I was the only guest there. The front desk employees helped me with photocopying, scanning documents, they allowed me to borrow and use supplies like scissors, glue, and stapler. They were very helpful. The breakfast was simple however you were never left hungry. It was the traditional Italian breakfast with pastries, cold cuts, and a variety of cheese. The American foods include yogurt, eggs, bacon, and morning sausage. There is also a variety of beverages including juice and coffees. If you do not want to use the self serve coffee machine, the staff is happy to make you a coffee of your choice. I recommend the cappuccino. The bar is open late and it is not very big, but it is a nice way to end the evening with a drink and bar snacks including peanuts and chips. The restaurant is excellent. The man who runs the restaurant is a true gentleman, and is a beautiful person from the inside out. He always welcomed patrons and made them feel like friends. I have a food allergy and everyday he made sure my meals were onion free. He participated in friendly dialogue and speaks a number of languages so communication is always effective. If I stayed any longer, I would have probably fallen in love with the food and the people. The conference facilities are average at best, however, if you need something, all you need to do is ask and you will be given whatever you ask for as long as the request is reasonable. The location of the hotel is about 20 minutes from the city centre. It is safe to travel alone and the hotel staff will give good directions. You can usually buy bus tickets at the hotel; they are 1.50 Euros each. There is a shopping mall, which you can walk to within ten minutes of the hotel. Although it does not have designer stores it offers a variety of stores and prices are reasonable. Everyone speaks English very well or excellent at the hotel. I enjoyed my stay very much and I am very grateful to the nice staff members, they truly made my trip enjoyable and stress free.

"Nice place! "
willis_w, 19 Septembre 2017

Staff spoke English very well. They knew where to go, how to catch the subway, and of course took good care of us as guests as well. The hotel is nice and a marriage of American and European features. As an American I felt more comfortable at the best western because of the American touches. I believe anyone, from anywhere, would like this hotel.

"Beautiful accommodation in a quiet location"
Tomáš N, 16 Août 2017

Room with twin beds. Small bathroom with toilet. Beautiful terrace accessible from the room. Very nice and helpful at the reception. Good connection to the center. Excellent price / performance ratio.

"Terrible Best western hotel"
300baba, 08 Août 2017

This hotel terrible Bestwestern I see hotel room very small not have a coffee in room in the room 16" TV still not working when Bestwestern have a sign. Not meeting any thing to keep Bestwestern flag. I didn't stay at hotel but we still have a charge because we check out at same day.

"Rome visit"
JAZ1962, 19 Juillet 2017

Hotel was very clean with friendly staff.Rooms were very good with air conditioning.Good choice of buffet breakfast.Location was very good. Only 15mins walk to one of the main train/metro stations or bus stop across the road.

"Near the train station"
Rob S, 17 Juillet 2017

It's near the train station but take a cab because it's a little hard to find. Once you're there you'll be fine to head back to the station without your bags and be on your way. Not much right at the hotel but it's close to the train which connects everything. Breakfast staff were great and happy to make a fresh coffee. Felt very safe since there was a Police convention while we were there and a number of police were staying at the hotel.

"Very confortable low cost Hotel"
Andre F, 27 Juin 2017

Yeah it is a little far away from downton but it is a really comfortable hotel. Not that expensive and the taxi ride to the touristic center doesn't take too long. We had very good nights here. The breakfast is good fot he italian standarts. The only down side is the lack of good eating options on the neighborhood.

"Lovely long weekend"
christine s, 17 Mai 2017

The hotel is lovely the staff are very helpful and friendly breakfast was great plenty of choice the location is good supermarket over the road there is a pizzeria down the road the meals are lovely and it is very cheap the tiburtina station is only five minutes on the bus the bus stop is over the road from the hotel you can buy your bus tickets from the little shop next to the bus stop we bought a forty eight hour pass for twelve euros fifty each you can use it on the metro bus and tram the metro is very easy to use will definitely go back to this hotel

"Decent hotel, but far from Rome's attractions"
Bright Side M, 16 Mai 2017

Reasonably priced hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean. Serves good breakfast too. But all the sights in Rome are at least an hour away and you need to ride a combination of buses and trains to get anywhere. Airport is also an hour away.

"10 day stay"
Bernard M, 25 Avril 2017

This is a fair value hotel. There where some issues but not serious. The rooms in general are small. The one that was given to us was too small and had the bed up against the wall, which I do not like. So we upgraded. Additional 40 € a night. The room was larger and the bed in the middle. Very clean ,maid service was good. The refrigerator in the room did not work great. If you want a kettle and coffee or tea you must ask the desk . If you want ice you can get it from the desk. The pillows need improvement as they are not the best comfort wise. The bed is firm. There was an ant issue in our room (420) . Not terrible but they where there. The morning staff where very nice, but there was one gentlemen on the evening staff that could use some public relations training. The breakfast was what I thought to be very nice. For the most part the same daily but I still found it to be very very nice and a large choice . As well as the breakfast staff they where VERY NICE. The neighborhood looks bad, but is NOT. There is a restaurant attached but we did not use it. The metro is close, Bus stops a block away. USE THE BUS . the underground is a haven for PICK POCKETS. Trust me we know first hand. There is a mall down the street walkable and nice place. Market across the street for food and such. The hotel will arrange a car service to pick you up from the airport. Email them for info and price. We used it as metro was to involve for us and taxi is to expensive. All in all a nice stay.

"Does exactly what it says on the tin "
Alan G, 09 Avril 2017

Good hotel. Well priced. Well located near the metro. 3 day city pass 18 euro. It's vital you use public transport here to get to the sights. Staff very helpful. Restaurant attached to the hotel got some bad reviews on TA but we used it on our first night and found it very good. Enjoyable.

"Excellent hotel with friendly, helpful staff"
Pink C, 26 Janvier 2017

The hotel is located close to Tiburtina station which is well connected to all major places in Italy. The rooms were quite good, we got a big room as we were travelling with family and was soundproofed well. The hotel was nice and clean. The staff were extremely helpful. They suggested to travel to Rome through bus rather than the train which would be better way to see Rome as crowd in buses was better which is what we exactly did. We travelled to Capri and Venice as well and for couple of days had early starts. We informed them and they arranged takeaway breakfast for us to have on the train. We were so thankful to the staff and had a wonderful trip in Italy. We took the train to travel to and from Rome airport. Taxi from Tiburtina station did not cost us much as its very close.I would always suggest this hotel as its location is great, nice, clean, friendly staff and excellent value for money.

"Holiday in Rome."
lmkumar59@gmail.com, 27 Novembre 2016

Nice Hotel. Located near the Local train station. It made it convenient for sightseeing .Good cosy rooms ,hospitality staff is cordial. Breakfast served with lots of variety to choose from. A good experience.

"Nice & Clean"
Matt C, 23 Novembre 2016

The hotel was terrific. They helped us arrange a driver from the airport (55 Euros) and helped us with questions about our travel plans. Rooms are small but very clean and nice. Included breakfast was great.

"So, So"
WavyDavy34715, 17 Novembre 2016

I was there in Oct, peak fall, I booked the hotel and it said Air Conditioning, but failed to say , but a/c shuts off in the fall. The staff was friendly, I need to print train tickets, they said "we dont have concierge here, you have to do it yourself", the front desk agent, actually went to the business center with me and showed me how to get online, as it was all in Italian, and even help my tickets, until his shift was done. The only concern I had, was the next morning, my cab was late, and i missed my train, but the host at the desk called continuously, and I made it to my train but 35 minutes later than anticipated.

"Outstanding"
Mario S, 06 Octobre 2016

After a 3 week trip through Europe the Blu Hotel Roma was a really pleasant surprise. The internet was great and the breakfast was probably the best we had during all of our trip (the egg was cooked perfeclty, unlike most hotels in Europe). The staff is super helpful and friendly. For example, one day we arrived 5 minutes before breakfast closed but Catalina still was super nice and helpful. Front desk was a bit serious everytime but always helped on what we asked. The only problem was that the temperature from our shower had random variations but this doesn't undermine how good this hotel was. Location wise, it's a 10 minute walk to the Tirbutina station which takes you straight to the city center, plus there's a small shopping center close to the hotel and the area feels safe. Overall great hotel, thank you for everything.

"close to Tiburtina Station"
platzyVancouver, 01 Octobre 2016

We stayed here only one night, our first in Rome, so that we'd be near the Tiburtina Station as we needed to leave from that point early the next day. While it was a long taxi ride from the airport, it was near to the train/bus stations. Our rooms were small and basic. The linens and towels were nice. It only cost E3/person to have the buffet breakfast there which was a good deal. We found the front desk staff very helpful when an unforeseen snag came up for a reservation with another Best Western hotel in Rome later in our visit to Italy. We were impressed with the professionalism in which the situation has handled for us. Only disappointment was there was no CNN or BBC stations available on the TV even though the hotel manual in the room said those channels were available. I called the front desk to check out that and a gentleman was sent up to check out our TV. However, those channels weren't connected when we were staying at the hotel.

"Vacation in Rome"
JOANNE F, 25 Juillet 2016

We have spent 5 days in this hotel. We had a family room. Very spacious with nice bright colours. Liked the bathroom with a jacuzzi as well. Good Wifi range in room which this was a must for my children. Very good breakfast (international & Italian combined). Nice and helpful staff. Very clean. Not very central in Rome but very near the train station which are very punctual. Bustop right infron hotel. 2 Supermakets nearby.

"Steven Foster, Cork, Ireland"
WEB H, 04 Juillet 2016

Staying with family for 3 nights at the moment. Very clean modern rooms. Friendly staff. Very good value for money. Air Conditioning powerful. Fridge in Room. No extra charge for safe. Eat all you want breakfast for €3. Free WIFI. Supermarket across the road. Get to tourist sites in 25 mins.

"Definitely not 4 star but clean and close to transportation "
Panoonie, 04 Juillet 2016

This hotel is definitely not a 4 star hotel as rated. It's a budget hotel, clean and neat. The featured photos of the rooms are very misleading. The room is basic with a small bedroom and nice sized bathroom. The "business center" is a desk with a computer and printer. The chef into he restaurant is also the waiter and the front desk person is also the bartender for the small bar. The breakfast area is large and the breakfast for 1 euro per person per day is very adequate. The hotel is close to the bus stop which will take you to a major train station and Metro station. The station is also in walking distance. This hotel is a good base if you are not planning to be in the room a lot. There is no pool at this hotel. The hotel staff is friendly and very accommodating.

"Basic but comfortable"
Sharpsholidays, 03 Juillet 2016

This hotel is very basic but luckily you don't spend too much time in it, just sleep and eat breakfast which was tasty enough. I don't rate the restaurant though for an evening meal, best to eat out. The metro is about 15-20 minutes walk but that may have taken slightly longer due to the heat. Supermarket ideally located and a restaurant and bar at the top of the road excellent. The two ladies helping out at breakfast are the very best, helpful, friendly and nothing too much trouble. I would like to thank the guy who checked us in, due to travel agent errors he was very accommodating to our needs.

"Very Basic"
Robert W, 24 Juin 2016

Stayed as part of a pre-cruise. package.Small, basic room (smaller than a cruise-ship cabin )with small uncomfortable double-bed (just tolerable for a couple for 2 nights).Noise outside throughout night from air-conditioning fans (?)-ships engines much quieter!.

"Shawn and Lisa 's trip "
Lisa S, 11 Juin 2016

Absolutely loved this hotel and the staff. Lorenzo and Nicolai were great and made us feel so welcome, helping out where ever the could. The metro is approximately a 10 minute walk and colossuem is 6 stops away which takes no time at all. There is a shop across the road and also shopping centre which is a 5 minute walk and has some great shops too. Lorenzo made the best cocktails for me and the restaurant food was delicious, Shawn had two mains in one night! They made our holiday more enjoyable! We will definitely want to come back!

"Bravo Blu Hotel Roma"
kennethmM7245BP, 08 Juin 2016

Was in Rome to take in the sights of the city. Our stay at the Blu Hotel Roma was great!. Very clean hotel with a very accomodating and gracious staff. We especially appreciated their willingness to hold onto our four pieces of luggage twice. They even held it for us after we checked out to allow us to take an all day tour before we headed to the airport. Heartily recommend them for both leisure and business travel.

"NO air conditioning"
Karla M, 12 Mai 2016

No matter what they told you the air conditioning is central so they DON'T turn it on because the whole hotel either would be cold or hot and they also don't want to spend more money on that. Even though we talk to someone in the front desk named Daniel and ask them about it and they told us, of course we have, they don't. Long ride to the touristic zone in Rome, 30 mins minimum, you have to take the bus and then metro. The only good thing about the hotel it's the "good price" and the pizzas one block away. We've stayed on others best western and these were the worst.

"Really nice hotel location was inconvenient for backpacking"
Western S, 11 Mai 2016

The hotel was nice, it was a small room and the wifi was down constantly and slow when it was working. The breakfast was nice and actually worthwhile. The location was sketchy for those who plan on walking a lot. Extremely sketchy walk with narrow sidewalks. Staff was nice and good Kabob nearby.

"HOTEL NEAR TRAIN STATION TIBURTINA"
IssarS, 06 Janvier 2016

Stayed total 05 nights in this hotel to attend EULAR Conference from 09 Jun - 14 Jun 2015 and found this hotel near residential area. The departmental & Grocery shop is just opposite the hotel. Rooms are small but nice and clean, front office staff is very helpful and cooperative. buffet breakfast is good specially their coffee and staff at coffee shop was very good with smiling faces.

"nice hotel"
Andy J, 25 Octobre 2015

good standard hotel for business use. very courteous staff, good rooms (no hot drinks facilities in rooms though). clean and tidy. Good breakfasts available. Restaurant attached served good food. business facilities in basement

"Nice Hotel, very friendly staff"
randellc, 15 Octobre 2015

When we arrived after a 9 hour flight from Canada, we were tired and just wanted to crash in our room. The room was nice enough, nothing special. It had the king size bed that we asked for but it was too hot, the air conditioning had been turned off. We went down to the front desk and by that time the manager had left and the person on the desk said there was nothing he could do. The next day they turned it back on for us so it was all good. The hotel has an outdoor picnicking area and there is a grocery store across the street. So one day we picked up some bread, meat, cheese, olives, and wine and had ourselves a very nice and inexpensive lunch. The hotel bar opened the wine for us and let us borrow a couple of glasses. This is not a 5 star hotel by any means but it suited us and had a very nice free breakfast every morning with cappuccinos, so everything worked out well.

"good hotel to Rome"
207conceicao, 12 Octobre 2015

that hotel is very good location and very good breakfast from the Tiburtina station just take bus 409 and then there bus stop outside the hotel ask the drive and 2 supermarket nearby ,and will be walk 15 min if you don t carry any luggage

"Best Wester Blu Roma - A Pleasant Hotel"
Jon P, 02 Octobre 2015

After a stressful journey, the warm welcome from staff at Best Western Blu was really nice. They greeted us warmly on arrival, and we were checked in quickly and easily. I booked two rooms, one for myself and one for my mum who was travelling with me. They very thoughtfully put these two rooms next to each other, which was impressive and made life easier. The rooms were pleasant and tidy and had everything we needed. There was also a fridge in the room which contained bottled water, but you were able to put other drinks in it, which was very useful. The room was also air conditioned and had a balcony. The bed was a little hard for my liking, but this is purely down to my personal preference. The room was spotlessly cleaned every day. Free WiFi was provided, this was high speed and reliable, and was extremely useful during our stay - a great touch. Something you need to be aware of is that the Blu is some distance from the city. It would be over an hour's walk to get to any of the attractions, or alternatively you can take the Metro (underground). Tiburtina station is a ten-minute walk from the hotel, and goes directly to many of the attractions including the Colosseum and Vatican City. You can get a 24 hour ticket for 7 Euros (you can buy these from tobacco shops or other local places) which allows you to travel pretty much wherever you like, and it was very quick and simple. A five minute walk in the other direction brings you to a nice little shopping centre and supermarket for any essentials. Other than that there isn't much locally for the tourist. The hotel staff are a font of useful information, armed with tourist maps and local knowledge to help make your stay that bit better. They couldn't be more helpful if they tried. The breakfast service is pleasant, running from 7-10am, which gives you the opportunity to be out early, or have a lie-in. It's far more flexible than I've known in other hotels. I would highly recommend Blu Hotel to anyone... as long as you're happy not to be in the middle of the city.

"Nothing special"
flintstonemama, 26 Septembre 2015

The room is basic and clean. Had the AC on full & the room never cooled off. Breakfast buffet is like a feeding frenzy. Staff is not prepared for the 7 am rush. Most hotels will open breakfast room early so guests can get coffee. Not this one. We tried getting a coffee @ 6:55 & were told to get out. Hotels in Italy should catch up with the rest of the western world and provide coffee in the guest rooms.

"Great stay"
Daisy115, 12 Septembre 2015

We stayed at the Best Western for two nights. The room was very clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was great and the breakfast delicious. Both nights we sat outside for awhile, where there are outdoor tables and chairs. The reception staff, breakfast staff and bar staff were all friendly and helpful. The wifi was good. Close walk to Tiburtino stations.

"Hotel Blu Roma visit."
George P, 09 Septembre 2015

This was the 3rd time I have been to the Hotel Blu Roma. I remember the same wonderful folks from my previous stays. The service as always was fantastic. The staff is friendly and courteous and above all, very helpful. The room was perfect for my needs. The location is just where I need it, close to the cemetery where my parents are buried with easy access to the public transportation system. I most certainly plan to stay there again on my next visit.

"Best Western Hotel Blu Roma"
GlaDavidm, 28 Juillet 2015

If considering visiting Rome (especially in the summer) don't stay here. Unless you like using public transport it's not in a good location for Rome sight seeing. Rooms were passable, but the AC wasn't good enough for the high temps and the power went off 3 or 4 times during our 6 night stay. Then, on check-out the kicker - 144 Euro City tax on top of what I had already paid (6 Euro PPPN - I had 3 kids with me). All in all I would not recommend this Hotel.
