    « Always Stay Here »

I am very pleased with this Hotel. The staff is very nice and pleasant. I always stay here when I am on my way to Pennsylvania. One time I bought my granddaughters and they had a blast in the pool. And not to mention they liked the breakfast.

« Stop over in Roanoke Rapids »

Great location, very friendly staff, clean comfortable room, front desk gal was awesome and the young man tending the breakfast room was great! Would recommend this hotel as a great stop over travelling on the highway.

« Very nice. Big surprise. »

We were on a golf trip heading North and we found all our favorite hotels full do to a big kids baseball tournament. We had to drive and drive and spotted the BW new logo. We got the last room and we were pleasantly surprised on how nice. Haven't stayed in one in 30 years or more. They have really upgraded there brand. The bedding was very nice and the room have been nicely updated. excellent check in and out. Even the free breakfast in the morning was actually very good. One of my Uncles said he never eats in the places and tried it and liked it.

« Good room, disappointing breakfast »

Our room was clean and comfortable. Price was reasonable for anticipated stay. The disappointment came at breakfast. Arriving at 730 we found the room filled with people from a tour. We could wait for a seat, but all the hot food was cleaned out. The staff must not had anticipated the effect of so many people at breakfast. We could notvvwait for the food refill. Our breakfast was coffee and toast. Most BWs are better experience

    4
    « Nice stop »

Hotel was clean and quiet. Nice big bed and cold refrigerator. Not fat from the highway without highway without highway noise. Easy to reach several restaurants. Nice place to stay. I would stay here again.

    5
« Best Western is very good to stay! »

Best Western is Convenient right off of Interstate 95. Nice and clean good to stay after a long trip on the highway. It beats Motel 6 and red roof Inn. Clean rooms and nice beds. Professional staff. Good refrigerator and microwave.

    5
    « Nice Place »

Nice, clean property that is convenient ti I95. There are plenty of restaurants within a couple of miles. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable . The check in and check out process was fast. Will consider this property again if I have the need to stay in the area.

    « BW Roanoke Rapids »

Hotel easy to get to. Good breakfast. Many restaurants close by. I will look at staying here on my way to Florida and on my way home. It is a good spot to stop when travelling. I would recommend staying here. The price is a good value.

    5
« Great Beds! Awesome Shower! Very Nice Staff! »

Speedy and courteous check-in! Easy on-line reservations. Clean room. The bed was really comfortable. The shower was AMAZING - very hot and great pressure. The staff was super nice and very accommodating. I would recommend, highly!

    4
    « Easy on/easy off »

Easy on and off I 95, easy check in &out, staff efficient & pleasant, welcome cookies coffe ser up, free newspaper was a nice touch. The breakfast was good but the toaster needs replacement. Our mattress needs to be replaced ,I'm sure they will. You need to drive to get a meal, there is nothing inwalking distance. Internet was good.

    « Roanoke Rapids April »

The room waa very clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast foods were excellent in selection, quality, and quantity. At check in we were offered an upgrade to a suite without needing to request, due to our rewards tier. The staff is very friendly and responsive to requests.

    4
« Excellent value, caring staff »

Extremely pleasant stay. We were greeted by the smell of baking cookies, and check-in staff were friendly and professional. We were swiftly moved and upgraded to a suite after expressing concern about a crying baby next to our original room. Later I needed soap to clean our travel cups and it was provided with a smile. For me, these little things are the hallmarks of a staff that actually cares about the guest experience. The room itself was clean, comfortable and spacious. Exercise room had decent equipment. Breakfast had good variety. We've figured out this location is exactly halfway on our frequently traveled route between New England and Florida - we look forward to staying here again.

    4
    « Nice hotel, convenient from 95, »

I stayed here on way to another destination. I had a free night. The staff were very nice and the room was good. The bed was not too firm and would recommend staying on the side away of the hotel that faces 95. The road noise is not that bad but you can hear the traffic. The staff were very nice and the lady who kept the breakfast area going was very friendly. The hotel is a little far from most restaurants but not that far.

    5
« A New Best Western with Good Service and a Breakfast That's Much Better than Other BW Hotels »

We had a very positive experience at this Best Western. The check-in was smooth and efficient, and we were greeted by friendly staff, given a warm chocolate chip cookie and a room upgrade. Our room was spacious with a fridge and a micro-wave. We've stayed at many Best Westerns and one notable feature was that this breakfast was really a cut above many of the others we've stayed in. The orange juice was tasty, eggs were nicely cooked, wider choice of toast and baked goods, whole and low-fat milk, yogurt, and great hard-boiled eggs.

    3
    « Mix Up »

When I arrived, I was politely greeted and given great directions how to get to my room. However, the key didn't work. I kept trying both keys, until a person came to the door!! The previous staff assigned her my room earlier. I had to wait until the only room they had left was found. So check in was a mess, but the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. There is a nice business area if you need to work on the computer or print something.

    3
    « Typical Best Western »

This Best Western was exactly what we expected. Friendly staff, small but very clean and comfortable room. Adequate breakfast. We were surprised there were no restaurants in the immediate vicinity but "downtown" Roanoke Rapids was only a few minutes away and had several restaurants, including Ralph's Barbecue which we have reviewed separately.

    4
« Great people, nice rooms, no eat-out options »

Pros: Hot water, great receptionist and breakfast people, nice variety of hot breakfast foods and fresh fruits, disposable cover on the tv remote, quiet, large fridge. Cons: bathroom wall next to toilet needs to be cleaned or painted, tub faucet did not fit securely against the wall, high pet fee of $20, must drive to next exit for any eat options other than snacks at the nearby gas station. We stopped for a quiet night's sleep, so the lack of super close restaurants was not an issue for us...and we did enjoy a noise_free sleep.

    3
« Generally clean but needs to have the bathrooms and shower updated »

Clean Lobby area and nice staff. Rooms are big and roomy. Bed was soft and nice sheets. Bathroom needs updated and toilet needs to be upgraded. Toilet was very low - lower than normal. Internet was good - tv selection was good.

    5
    « Clean, clean. »

This hotel is very clean. It may not be the most updated but I'll take cleanliness over anything. Great Service Staff as well. Great Job!! Will definitely continue to stay here every time I make a trip.

    4
    « Excellent Value »

Stayed here on our way to Myrtle Beach. Just a few hundred yards off I 95 this hotel is very convenient as a pit stop and surprisingly quiet being right beside the interstate. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, staff both at check in and check out were very professional and helpful. Lots of restaurants within five minutes and gas right beside the hotel makes it a great over night stop

  • 5
« Greeted by friendly staff and enjoyed our stay »

The girl at the front desk was very friendly and polite when we arrived. Being a gold member we were offered a free upgrade to king suite. Room was clean and all amenities worked fine. Had a great breakfast in the morning with a good selection.

    4
    « Just okay »

Room rather large. Very noisy! Was only able to sleep about half the night due to the noise coming off Route 95. We arrived late, I should have asked to be moved but arrived late and just wanted to get settled in. Breakfast was very good.

    4
    « Good value »

Stayed one night. Lobby was bright & inviting. Enjoyed the warm chocolate chip cookie. Front Desk Reception was good. Room was quiet, clean & good space. Mattress was a bit stiff. Located handy to I-95, but away from restaurants. All in all, a good buy.

    5
« Excellent for a one night stay »

Stayed here as a halfway point on the way to New York from Florida. Very, very reasonably priced. Very clean room and friendly front desk staff. Great FREE morning breakfast. This place was perfect for our purposes.

    5
« Travel home without plans to stop »

Stopped here as I traveled form Orlando FL to Alexandria VA when I got tired on the road. VERY HAPPY with this hotel. At check-in Sabrina was most helpful getting me checked in and providing direction to various locations for dinner. This hotel is easy access of Exit 171 on I-95 in NC.

    5
    « Enjoyable Experience »

I have stayed here for the past 6 weeks now and the stay has been great. The rooms are nice and clean and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. Good price for what you get. Weight room is small but does offer the necessities to provide you with a good workout.

    2
« Would not stay again »

This hotel is tired and in major need of renovation and tlc. It must have been a hotel that Best Western bought from some other chain. I must say that it was clean enough but very boring decor-wise and mildly unkempt. It felt too secluded for my liking. We got in late and didn't feel like going any distance for food since we had been driving all day. We were out of luck because there is not a restaurant in sight. They had a list of maybe 20 restaurants, only 2 delivered but most were closed or closing by the time we checked in. I wouldn't stay again.

    5
« Great stay at this Best Western »

We enjoyed our stay here on the way south. The lobby was inviting and spacious, the staff very friendly and helpful, the room well appointed and clean, and we enjoyed the hot breakfast, especially the fluffy scrambled eggs. We also appreciated that there were plenty of tables and chairs in the breakfast area. We would definitely stay here again.

    4
    « Pleasant stay »

This was my 3rd time staying here & it was pleasant. The staff is friendly & accomodating. When my husband became ill, they were helpful to us. The place was clean & the breakfast choices were very nice.

    5
« Great place to stay »

Nice to find a reasonable rate with such good accomodations. will definately use this hotel again. Pet friendly was a bonus. So hard these days to find one, let alone, such a nice one. Breakfast was a full spread, constantly refilled and lots of room to move around getting food.

  • 4
    « RR Visit »

The main we stay at this hotel when visiting Roanoke Rapids is because of the employees. They are so friendly and personable. We are able to bring our small pet also. The hotel is conveniently located to Hwy 95.

    3
« You get what you pay for. »

Clean except a/c grille, window fogged, tv channel line up basic, outdoor pool only. Fake eggs from a carton for hot breakfast tasted bland. Wi-Fi sign in needed several tries. Bed was super comfortable and room was quiet. Hotel staff was super friendly.

    1
« We suggest that you find a different hotel. »

Hotel is old and tired. The bathroom was tiny and in need of a total renovation. There wasn't even an exhaust fan.First floor room was dirty and noisy. Breakfast selection was of poor quality and there wasn't any coffee.

    3
    « Room needs updating »

On a trip from Massachusetts to Florida stopped here overnight. Staff was excellent Room needs updating/maintenance.(minor imperfections) bed was also too soft. all in all not bad for the price. 24 hour coffee was great

    2
« Check your bed sheets!!! »

My husband and I always read reviews thoroughly to make sure we know what type of hotel we are staying at. This Best Western had very good reviews. It's 4am in the morning and we have kids so we were happy to find out about this place. We checked-in and were given a room. Got to rm 214 and it was completely dirty. It was very obvious that no one cleaned it. Bed completely disheveled, dirty towels on floor and sink. I quickly closed the room in hopes that I just didn't barge in on someone. Went back down stairs and we were given room 249. I was happy that upon entry the room looked clean. We all got ready for bed and I noticed a brown long straight piece of hair (could not be ours) on top of the sheets. I'm so exhausted at that point that I just removed it and was going to ignore it. BUT THEN.... My husband pulled the sheets back... Uugghh, hair was is so many places and the sheets were so wrinkly in the middle that you can tell someone didn't change the sheets but only remade the bed. It was really obvious. At that point we called downstairs and were offered a king. We have kids and that wouldn't work. We opted to have our sheets changed. I wanted them to remake my kids bed as well because I no longer trusted that theirs was changed....eeww and uugghh. She knocked on the door and handed me the linen. No apology or eye contact. I didn't realize that I was going to have to change those dirty sheets myself. Anyway... I just want sleep. As we were changing the sheets we found more hair and stains (looked like old blood) on the pillow sheets. Eew!! I'm a registered nurse and I cannot be fooled. Removed all blankets and stained pillows. Finally got to bed. The staff was nice, we were given a full refund but I still want you all to be careful and check those sheets. I hope whoever changed our sheets was held accountable and taught about cleanliness. It's not a subject to be taken lightly. We are appreciative of our full refund but will not choose Best Western as a choice of stay in our future.

    2
    « Less than Spartan »

We stayed last week in Room 103 .Plusses: room size, pet friendly, fair breakfast. Minuses TV is a mystery, significant scrapes on bedroom wall. hole in the bathroom wall Price is fair, but if you are without a pet look for alternatives..

    4
« Interstate Access Without the Noise »

Conveniently right off of I-81 and even though it is close we couldn't hear highway noise from our room. Easy to get to and right next to the mall and several places to eat. Plenty of parking and free breakfast. Clean and comfortable rooms. We stayed here for one night traveling with our two goldendoodles. The pet rest area was very small but that was the only down side to our stay.

    5
    « Excellent service »

No problems was there because of a death in the family. They were so kind and made sure we had everything we needed. One issue with shower was the shower rod and they fixed it right away. Kudo's to the staff!

    4
    « Very Nice Stay! »

This hotel was such a pleasant surprise! The room was clean, large and comfortable. Our stay was in a two bed room. The beds were comfortable making for a good night's sleep. There was a mini refrigerator, but it was much larger than most. The room also contained a microwave and coffee pot. The remote for the television was even enclosed in a clothe envelope labeled ?fresh remote.? The bathroom was on the small side, although still clean, with the sink and a large counter and mirror located on the outside of the bathroom. The hotel offered a complimentary breakfast which included breads, cereals, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and make your own waffles. Monetarily, the cost was a bit on the high side, but all in all, my family and I were very impressed with our stay at this hotel!

    3
    « Best Western stay »

There has been some updating to the hotel however rooms could use a facelift. Rooms are definitely not sound proof as a screaming child in the hall came in loud and clear in our room. Staff was very cordial and accommodating. Price was good for the value.

  • 5
« Excellent place to stop on our way to Florida »

We can always count on Best Western to be to our satisfaction. The rooms are big, well appointed, the breakfast is great and they welcome our small dog every time we stay. This hotel is well situated along Interstate 95, so no delay going off our way to find a hotel.

    5
« Best Western Roanoke Rapids, NC »

We had another great stop over at the Best Western in Roanoke Rapids, NC. The room was perfect and ready for us. We were even presented a couple of gifts ( spring water, crackers with cheese and a piece of candy ) It was very nice to receive the little gift on checking in and much appreciated. The breakfast the next morning was excellent. A great stop and we will be looking forward to again next year.

    4
    « Just a good stop »

12 drive from here to home. Seems to me 12 hours to Florida as well. Good 1/2 way house, so to speak. Clean, comfortable, well positioned. Gas on the corner, but it's cheaper up the highway a little by $0.25/gal.

    3
    « Roanoke Rapids »

Stopped for overnight while traveling to Fl from NY. Hotel is basically clean and quiet, but could use some updating as some things are beginning to show wear and tear. Breakfast has been updated and provides a good variety of times to choose from.

    1
« High price and inferior overall quality. »

Honestly nothing was good for me. Silly coffee machine which dumps black water and breakfast looks like not fresh. Thought of grabbing some bread but after seeing whole set up and dishes I decided to eat outside. They have some crap patchwork on ceiling and fitness room was ok but treadmill makes ridiculous noise and has a ripped belt. My mattress was wavy and behind furniture a lot of crap. I was trying to plug in my phone and had to move the night stand and then..I took pictures. I don't want refund but never going to stay in that motel although I travel a lot up North

    4
    « nice »

First time staying here but very impressed. Very clean excellent service. Breakfast not bad. Nothing around to eat but a couple miles north is tons of places. Would highly recommended this place. Have stayed at other places in the area and this is the best so far for the price will be staying here again with no problem.

    « save your money »

as a person who spends over 200 days in hotel rooms a year i feel this review is just. the staff was very pleasant. well thats all for the positives. bed was a king mattress was worn out the chair in the room was so dirty i didnt even want to put my suit case on it. the carpet in the room was dirty. the internet was unusable i tried to load pages after logging on but it was usless. there was so much light coming in around the door it looked like a super natrual movie seen I could go on but you get the picture. I was given a link from best western to review the hotel. I did the review and was given a scripted response . not even an apology bela shah was the manager 2525362300 is the number given in the reply to me no one would answer the phone save your money

    5
    « Clean and Accommodating »

Would highly recommend this as a stop on your trip. The accommodations were more than adequate and the breakfast was bountiful...as were all the staff on premises. I just wish the indoor pool did not close as of Labor Day as that would have added to our relaxation after a long ride. You will not be disappointed.

    3
« Not the Typical Best Western »

We were told the only room left was a smoking room and we went to see it first. It was smelly but we decided we were tired and took it. Little did we know they allowed dogs (who were loud barkers). The bed was not the best and no bed bug cover on the mattress. No cookies or newspapers like they usually give you. Lots of noise so it was hard to sleep. The eggs for breakfast were so overdone I would not touch them. Breakfast not as good as usual. Stale danish.

    4
« Great and convenient place right off I95 »

Easy in and out, close to a variety of restaurants. Clean, nice staff and reasonable. We have stayed there twice both going north and south from Florida and South Carolina. Will stay there again for sure.

  • 5
    « Hope »

The hotel was very clean and has the best price in the area. It is conveniently located to the interstate and shopping centers and restaurants. The staff was very helpful and professional and went beyond what expected to ensure that I was pleased with the service. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

    5
    « Good - clean hotel »

This hotel had friendly people, rooms were very nice and clean. The price was very nice too. We stopped there as a midway point of our trip in both directions. Very convenient to 95 which was very helpful. I would recommend as a stop over hotel.

    3
    « Ehhhhh »

We have stayed here twice in the past two months. It's a great place to stay, right off 95. It's definitely rough around the edges. Needs some major updates. But it's fairly inexpensive, and accepts dogs, (which we always travel with), and it's clean. If I we don't travel with our dogs, we'll find a nicer place to go!

    5
    « Awesome »

Customer service is the best ever hands down, employees go out the way for you in every way possible. Every front desk clerk ask how's everything, do you need this/that. I was overwhelmed and very satisfied the way your staff treated me and my wife.

    1
    « Run Down »

Was suppose to stay 3 days. We had to check out on the 3rd day stay because the hotel Manager thought he could just walk right into our room unannounced. I told he get out he would not till I demanded

    4
    « PET FRIENDLY »

Pet friendly, indoor access hotel. Clean, comfortable rooms and beds. Breakfast was adequate. Enough variety to satisfy almost anyone. Only had contact with one staff member, who was polite but not very welcoming. Not rude or discourteous, just not very friendly. We were traveling for the first time with our newly adopted dog, and I was a little disconcerted when the first thing I was handed was a set of rules. Management may want to rethink check-in procedure. Otherwise, hotel is fine. Will stay here again on way back and forth from New Jersey.

    5
    « Roanoke rapids »

The room is above expectations the staff is courteous and professional. The gym is good and the pool area is nice. The breakfast is very good and fresh. This hotel is very well maintained I definitely would recommend this hotel

    2
    « Noe-Blind Hotel »

The non-smoking rooms smelled like ashtrays. The entire hotel smelled like a litter box. We have stayed in "pet-friendly" hotels before and the pet area was contained to a certain floor or certain wing of the building. The smell in the hallways of this hotel took your breathe away. This hotel is a disaster.

    1
    « Stay Away! »

The worst hotel my family and I have ever stayed at! This place is not a Best Western Plus. The only good thing about this place is its proximity to I 95. The hotel looks good from the outside but the rooms / hotel is old and very dirty. Stay way!

    2
    « Very Disappointing »

We were on a trip from Massachusetts to and from South Carolina for the Eclipse and stayed at several different chain motels. This was by far the worst. The check-in person was not friendly, there was no literature in the room (local restaurants, channel list for TV, etc.) And the wifi wasn't good.

  • 4
    « Good place to stop near I 95 »

All the rooms at this hotel are accessed from an interior hallway. The room was quite adequate with microwave and refrigerator. Staff was pleasant and helpful. I used the fitness center. Breakfast was good and the breakfast room was large enough. I would stay here again.

    4
« Good hotel on way to South Carolina »

My husband and I with our dog stayed one night here on our way to Pawleys Island, SC. Our room was large and nicely decorated but most important it was clean and smelled fresh (not doggy). The pool is small but kept immaculate and is open until 10:00 pm. Restaurants are easy to get to and there are a variety of options. Breakfast is the standard waffle maker, scrambled eggs, etc. Not that great but it gets you on the road.

    2
    « Sorry I chose this place »

I have just checked in with the least friendly reception I can remember. The desk person didn't welcome us, ask if we had any questions, show us where the wi-fi code was - nothing! In addition, the channel listing for the TV is outdated and she is clueless as to how we can get NBC or AC or whatever. Also clueless about local restaurants. Than God for Tripadvisor.

    3
    « Florida Bound »

I use this hotel as a half way point between home and Florida. I can't recommend it as the staff is very indifferent to the needs of the guests. Other than that, it was clean and functional. Nothing special here.

    4
    « Pit stop »

We needed a place to stop to sleep during our road trip. This place was fine. We were only there to sleep and then continue the drive. Clean and right off the highway. Free breakfast was good. Staff was friendly.

    5
    « Very Nice Hotel »

This was my second time staying. The staff is very nice and in less than 5 minutes you have stores and restaurants. The breakfast is good as well. My grand kids had a nice time. Glinta is at the front desk and she is the best.

    4
    « Very Clean »

When I walk in all I smell was cleaning supplies, yippy (smile). The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very nice. I was satisfied with my stay. I will defiantly stay here again.

    2
    « Mold »

Room was one the first floor the smell of mold was so bad it made us sick, we packed up to leave about 2:00am no one was at the desk. So we just left.we did talk to the manager later and they did not charge us for the room.

    5
« Good pace to relax »

Roanoke Rapids Best Western is a place we find very relaxing. When ever we travel through the area we stay at the Best Western where you get more bang for your buck. It is quiet and relaxing. We always enjoy breakfast..

    4
« Nice place to stay »

Very good mid range hotel. Nice pool. Good breakfast. Reasonably good value. This is a family friendly place and we were able to accommodate our pet bird which is surprisingly difficult to do considering her small size. Staff was friendly. The place is clean and secure. A good short stay place.

  • 1
    « Non-smoking?? »

Who are they trying to kid? Pre-booked non-smoking. When we arrived, our room was obviously smoking. They offered us another which also wreaked with the smell of smoke. Then they tried to tell me I ordered a smoking room when my confirmation listed non-smoking. Also told me I would have to call Best Western for a refund. We didn't stay, and I did get my refund before we left. They obviously gave up our confirmed non-smoking room and figured it was no big deal. I don't doubt they do it quite often and try to get away with it. So, if you're a smoker or don't mind the stench, this is the place for you. As for a Best Western? I wouldn't say it was the best of anything.

    3
    « one nite stay »

This hotel keeps heading downhill. Room was small but clean. Printer in hotel broken. Could not access internet from hotel computer. Could not get help from the desk on directions to another Best Western next day. They just didn't want to spend 5 minutes to help. It is overpriced and understaffed. My last visit here.

    2
« poor desk help and overpriced »

You need to make your desk help more knowledgable and helpful. Get the printer and internet available upstairs. I will not stay here again. The hotel is getting worse yearly. For the price paid I can do much better in this area

For $100.00 a night it was below standards, there were bugs, roaches, spiders, and worms. The toilet had its own issues and the room had a water stain in the ceiling. The calking on the walls was horrible and it was just not up to par. It was in the same shape as the Baymont Inns down the road, except we had better breakfast.

« Not the quality hotel I was expecting. »

Multiple issues with this visit. I prepaid for a non smoking room and was assigned a smoking. I informed of the mistake and was informed that no non smoking was available. I asked if I could cancel and be reimbursed and was informed I could not cause I prepaid. I informed I have concerns in regards to my infant son and 8 yr old daughter and was offered febreeze. Carpet was filthy, shower faucet was broken, sink had leak, walls and fridge were scuffed and marked up. Very disappointed with visit. Wish I paid a few dollars more another hotel. Will not stay here again.

« Thank goodness for laye check outs »

Had a very last minute reservation. Although they didn't have it in their system, they still honored it. It was a smoking room, but not too bad to sleep in for the night. Very clean, hot water and comfortable bed. Was so grateful for a place to lay our heads at 4am! Thank goodness for late check outs.

    « Bad experience »

The hotel office help lied when I called. The person said sold out. Then I called the 800 and booked a room. Then at check in, it was like we were bothering the person from doing something else. Then the next day the food was cold, and when it ran out, the food person did not restock it.

Checked in after 2 in the morning I got woken up by my daughter she said there are bugs crawling around by the tv I got up I said what time is it she saidc4:30 I go look and roaches crawling around I tried to get one but couldn't to show front desk. I go down nobody was there i came back still nobody. I kept the lights on and they still were crawling around. I'm not even sure what the check the loud noise was coming from the wall seemed like pipes annoying as hell. Before 6 somebody slammed their door shock ours baby screaming. Housekeeping needs to learn how to clean. Vaccuming needs done and dusting its like wow. Seems like no cleaning under the bed skirts . I will never come here again

« very comfortable and accomodating »

We came for a friend's baby shower, and this was a lovey place to stay. I wish we had had a chance to use the pool, it looked very inviting. The room was clean - my only concern is that the a/c fan could have been more forceful. The beds were very comfortable. The in room refrigerator was very large.

    « Easy access »

Service at front desk was phenomenal, especially Tonya the overnight clerk, she went out of her way to help me get an important document printed at the front desk when I couldn't get it done in the business center. The breakfast was disappointing but the price, location and proximity to decent restaurants outweigh the negative and I'm sure we'll stay here again as we travel north & south.

    « Barely squeaking into Average ,, »

Stopping at this budget hotel for the drive up north I wasn't expecting much ,, but this was barely average. Nice enough front desk , hallways and rooms need more updating , while they threw granite on sink area it's more than that to update . But if u want clean and cheap this could be fine . There is a never Hilton Garden inn across the street and that may be new.

Very nice staff and quiet hotel. Breakfast was good. There was a huge Harley biker gathering and lacrosse teams at the hotel but surprisingly the room was quiet in the early morning. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Would definitely stay again.

« Great for the Price »

I enjoyed this hotel, especially for the price. Clean and awesome customer service. My bf and I really enjoyed the pool, we went after hours ;) The beds were comfortable also! I loved the pillows. Like I said, not bad for the price.

    « Good Stop »

I make it a regular stop when travelling from Florida to Pennsylvania. Never overcrowded good breakfast and service. Had a problem with the internet this trip never found out why. Lots of good restaurants in Roanoke Rapids which is onle about two miles from the hotel. Seems to be a place that workman stay and pretty much make a home away from home. Recommended

    « Very Good »

The location (near the highway) is important, even though the entrance (the turn) to the hotel is tricky. The staff are friendly. The breakfast is wonderful, and the check-out process is easy. These are the main reasons that I rank this hotel "very good".

« Very nice hotel for the price and very easy to get too »

We stayed at this hotel in the middle of May on our way back from Florida to Ontario Canada after a few weeks of sun. It is very nicely located right off the highway and very easy to get to. The lobby is very nice and the staff were great to us, very welcoming and very helpful which really starts you off on the feeling of the hotel. The room was nice, the AC worked very well and the breakfast was very good. They were still setting up when we arrived a couple minutes before it opened but she said to jump on in and help ourselves as she knew we needed to leave early, they were all great to us.

    4
    « Very nice »

Our stay was satisfactory. The place is nice, clean and well decorated. The breakfast was, as usual, good. There were no cookies at the front desk in the evening. This is the first Best Western I've stayed in that didn't offer cookies. A disappointment but not a deal breaker.

« Very comfortable room conveniently located. »

I was driving from Florida back to Maryland on the worst day of the year but I needed to get here. I thought I had finally driven out of the storms by the time I entered NC so I tried to get a room in Emporia, VA but the Best Western there was sold out. So I asked for the next one south of there off of I95. Just after I passes the point of no cancellation(i.e. 6pm) the storms returned with an added bonus of tornado warnings. I have rarely been so happy to arrive at a hotel. Sadly there were no luggage racks available so I had to lug all my stuff in 2 trips up the elevator and to the far side of the hotel. The front desk clerk said that they did have racks but someone must have taken them all and not returned them. In the morning I just carried everything down the stirs because they were closer. I chased a cute frog out of the stairwell to the great outdoors so he could survive. When I packed my cooler I realized that the refrigerator had not been working overnight even though it had been cold when I put stuff in(I forgot to report this on checkout and I may have somehow just managed not to close the door tight. But, the room was comfortable with a small sofa. The WiFi worked well and I was able to make some posters and upload them to print at Sam's Club, so overall I would recommend the hotel.

    « Can't judge a book by its cover »

The outside of this Best Western Inn (once you find it - their signage is poor) is great - a nice modern brick building with ample lighting and parking. The lobby is equally nice - so far I agreed with the AAA 3 diamond rating. But the room was very 2-diamond: dreary stucco walls, brown everything, a sink right inside the door, and an inefficient refrigerator. The bed was comfortable, the a/c adequate, the towels thicker than many two star places, and the shower temp and pressure was awesome. But all in all, since I usually stay at 3 star places, I would bypass this exit entirely and go on to Rocky Mount.

The rooms were not clean. There was feces on the bed sheets and it was impossible to get them cleaned and changed. The bathroom door had brown drips on it like something was spilled. The staff was not cooperative in helping us get a clean room.

No grace period .So please don't bet sick . So we had to pack up and wait for another RM. To sick to travel .

« Quiet, but needs a little help »

No problem with cleanliness, breakfast was adequate. Hall smelled like smoke but half the rooms were smoking, so guess that's why. Teeny bathroom (contortions with door to get in and close it), good shower head. Bed comfortable enough once you got past the hard edges. Staff friendly. Got a pretty good night's sleep. Radio didn't work, refrigerator froze everything, microwave clunky. Adequate but I've had better rooms at this price point.

« Beware of the rate change »

I wanted to say I enjoyed the whole stay but was quickly disappointed when I was given a different rate after I completed my stay. I didn't get my issue solved I was given the brush off. I'm very dissatisfied that my problem wasn't solved and was told the front desk made a mistake at check in. But instead of honoring the mistake or atleast letting me know of the change before I checked out, I was charged multiple times. I'm very dissappointed by the lack of customer service I received.

« Is there something good in there? »

First we we offered a room with a king bed & sofa bed. We were 3. Ok whatever, it is late, we are tired. In the room, no sheets available for the sofa bed. Sofa bed... or should I say springs?? The third person being our daughter, we said, whatever, it is late, only one night, sleep with us in the king bed. Then we realised that the bed is vibrating! No it is not a honeymoon suite! The whole room is actually vibrating by the central A/C!!! We try the bed, no way we can sleep there! Let's call the desk. 2 phones in the room and none is working... Get down to the front desk. The lady do not beleive us. Nobody before us mentionned that. Come and see!! No I am alone I cannot leave the desk. What??? We left. Horrible experience. DO NOT GO THERE.

    3
    « Disapointing »

Only one person at Front Desk so check in was slow. They have a small fitness room. Not well equipped. Treadmill needs to be replaced. Refrigerator in room did not work. Blackout curtains in room do not close so there lights from nearby traffic and early morning sun.

    « Dreams come true! »

I had to make an emergency trip to this small town just over the Virginia state line. I spent 3 nights, each at a different motel. Best Western was by far the best deal! It was about a mile from the Halifax County Medical Center, the well-run local hospital, and extremely easy to get to....right in back of a highway exit. The BW was luxurious, with amazingly comfortable bed and pillows. Quiet, restful, and safe. Breakfast was yummy with a wide selection of protein, not just carbohydrates. I wish I had stayed all 3 nights! Would stay there again anytime.

This hotel is very good for the price. I plan to stay again and I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends. It is the best one in the area and offers great amenities. The staff is friendly and very helpful. If one does not make their reservation early, he or she may not be able to get a room. They seem to be sold out every weekend.

    « SMELLY, DIRTY ROOM »

I book this hotel room through American Express 6 weeks before our trip from Florida to Vermont. I had asked for a first floor room, close to an exit as we have a service dog. When I got there I was given a room 1/2 way down the hall from a poorly lite exit. When we went to bed I noticed the bed covers and pillows smelled heavily of smoke. I was tired after driving 12 hours I just ignored it and went to bed. In the morning I had to use my inhaler as I was having an asthma attack due to the heavy concentration of smoke and who knows what else. The bathroom had large dirty spots on the wall so we decided against a shower. I opened the bar of soap on the sink and the paper was stuck to the soap, it had been there so long. I have endured asthma for the past 4 days along with severe muscle spasms in my back because of this. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I complained to the staff in the morning and she said we were given that room because we booked it online and it was one of their "cheap rooms" Cheap? $90 isn't cheap, nearby hotels are 50-60 per night. The only upside was there were any bugs!

« A Very Solid Four out of Five Stars! »

We tried this hotel on our return to New York from Florida. This exit is the one just south of the main exit for Roanoke Rapids. There are only two hotels at this exit and it is a very quiet and rural area. On our way down to Florida we stayed at the other hotel at this exit. The other hotel costs much, much more and we didn't even get any breakfast there on a Saturday morning. We didn't have high expectations for this hotel, we just wanted a bed and a breakfast in the morning. We got a wonderful mini suite at a great price. It was very nice to have a couch and sitting area in our room. That helped us relax after a long drive on the interstate. No restaurants at this exit - they have the standard Best Western hot breakfast buffet, but for dinner it's only a two minute drive up the interstate to the next exit and there are a bunch of restaurants. This was a very pleasant stay for a very good price. We have found our stop for coming and going to Florida next year!

« Best Western Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina »

The room we stayed in was amazing! The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was large, airy and set up nicely. My only complaint (and the staff said it would be rectified) is that there is no signage to indicate where the hotel is located and we drove past the road leading to it twice until we found it. Otherwise, no complaints. I would stay here again.

    « BW RR »

This Hotel is in desperate need of an update. Also in desperate need a mold abatement. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with allergies. The bathroom is so small it is very difficult to move around and the sink is in the main suite.

I had requested a first floor room when making reservation, night desk clerk not very friendly said no first floor rooms available. We stayed here on the way home from a trip to visit our son in Auburn, AL. Rooms very comfortable and breakfast was quite good. « Room 127 »

Unrequested wakeup call in room 127--- known issue to hotel staff with the robocaller but apparently unfixed over a long term. Guests assigned to room 127 should be informed of this at check-in so the phone could have been unplugged.

    « Great value »

The rooms are spacious and clean. There is a mini fridge and microwave in the rooms. The facility looks relatively modern and new. The staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was above average and well attended. There is not much else at this exit but if you are looking for a decent nights lodging at a good price this is the ticket.

    4
    « Bereavement trip »

Very accommodating. My family and I were attending a funeral on our arrival date at 1pm and desperately needed an early check in. Unfortunately all of the standard rooms were fully booked so BW let us upgrade to a junior suite at a minimal fee. Thank you!

Our stay was very good. We wanted a decent reasonable place to stay where we could take our dog. We found that at this hotel. The location was excellent. The price was great. We have visited Roanoke Rapids numerous times before. The staff was helpful. The room was in good condition. The bathroom was a little tight. The breakfast was okay.

« Good for the orice »

Clean, comfortable room with good number of cable channels. Fitness room looked decent. Breakfast was average but did the job, I avoid hotels that don't offer breakfast whenever possible. There was a fridge and microwave in the room. I didn't like that the sink/vanity was outside the bathroom. Hallway was very long and far from elevator, which was a pain with the bags. Our room was near the ice machine and I don't know what else but those things were noisy. Bathroom could have used some sprucing up but the water pressure & shower head were very nice. I would stay again for sure, as price was a lot less than the competition (at least for this stay). Not perfect, but certainly pleasant and did the job. Very convenient to I-95.

    5
« Very pleased with this hotel and staff »

    « Customer opinion »

The outside appearance of this hotel is presentable but I think the house keeping of the guest room are not up to par I have had a few situations where my room was not clean when checking in and found it dirty. I also recommended the hotel to people and they found spider webs in areas of the room as if no one ever cleaned. The breakfast menu also needs to be updated with a better and tastier selection

    4

We stayed overnight in this 'pet friendly' hotel and it was clean & comfortable. The staff was very friendly & helpful. We had our dogs so we asked for the first floor. There was plenty of room to walk the pups and they supplied bags to clean up after them. The parking lot was large enough for the horse trailer we were towing.

« No privacy in room »

Yes, we had reviewed this hotel but never dreamed that we would not be able to close the curtains! Our room was pool front and the only curtains that we could close were the sheers! Yikes! The pool faces the parking lot and front of the hotel do does our room window! Lack of privacy? Freaky

    « Smokey »

We needed to make a last minute choice to stay in the area overnight. Called the hotel and they were very busy do connected us to reservation center. We upgraded at a charge to us to a executive king because the other king bedded rooms were booked. We stressed that non- smoking was important to us. 15 minutes after settling in all we could smell was cigarette smoke. Called the front desk and were told only two rooms down there are smoking. Can someone please explain to us why the owner/manager would have mostly non-smoking rooms with two smoking rooms right across the hall? We were asked if we wanted to move but we were also told when we reserved (10 minutes before arrival) this was the only king available. Very disappointed as not being around smoke isn't only our choice but it is a huge health problem for me.

The hotel was very clean and the staff was wonderful! The hot breakfast in the morning was excellent! We had a problem with a humming noise outside of our room that kept us up all night. Though the hotel did offer to switch our rooms, we were already settled for the night and chose to stay. The manager, however, upon finding out later what happened, did offer to return some of the rewards points I used for the stay. Great customer service!

The staff was good. Remote didn't work but was quickly swapped out by maintenance. Would stay again.

We stayed here overnight in route to Florida. Hotel was very nice, not worn, and clean. Hallways nice and bright. Staff efficient. Lots of hot water and good pressure. Nice to have breakfast so we could get on the road quickly. Bacon, eggs, biscuits, gravy, waffles, yogurt, cereal, breads, and fruit. Our room was on the side of the building away from the highway and we didn't hear it at all. Only bad thing was people up really early and slamming doors.

    « Musty damp room »

We were just passing through and we were tired of driving we were on the way to Florida so stopped here for the night- there was only one room left Priceline gave it to us it was a smoking room so the room smelled of cigarettes-The bed was mushy and uncomfortable. My biggest complaint was that the room was damp the rug was damp the bedding was damp other than that it was fine if you just looking for a cheap place to spend the night and you're driving through it's not like you're gonna live here or something like that it's just a roadside Motel- and I don't think that they market it as anything different.

    4
« Would Certainly Come Again »

I stopped by on my way south to Savanah with few expectations. I just wanted a clean and safe place to crash for the night. What I found was a lot better than that. The room was large and clean. The outdoor pool seemed in good shape. The gym was simple but workable and the complementary breakfast far exceeded the usual bagels and cereal. Worth the stop if you find yourself looking to stop half way down the east coast.

    4
« Clean, roomy and modern »

This hotel is conveniently located right off of I-95. The lady behind the front desk was very helpful with directions to places to eat. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and spacious. The only 2 issues that should be noted are that the building has a long hallway, so voices carry. The walls are very thin as well. And forget about taking a tepid shower; you get hot or scalding as options. Maybe it was just our room and we only stayed 1 night so we didn't complain. I would stay here again.

This hotel was extremely clean. Having breakfast there was great. Staff was friendly and ready to help. My only concern was the air conditioning. It just could not keep the room cool after an extremely hot day in the south. Having this hotel right off the hotel made it a quick on and off.

Good access off 95... and an ok room. AC was insufficient...but then again it was 100 degrees. Good breakfast The problem was at 11pm a family with 2 rooms checked in near us... for 90 minutes it was just screams from kids and doors slamming. No sleep for us. People with kids should be in a separate corridor from regular guests. Let them annoy each other.

    « Deceiving »

Traveling north from Florida, my family and I reserved a room in this hotel because it was a good middle point in our trip, and the rooms looked nice and reasonable on their website, and unlike a vast majority of hotels south of Richmond along I-95, this has interior corridors. The first inkling there might be something not so right with the property was the parking lot was empty when we pulled in, were as the Hilton on the other side of the exit had a good amount of cars parked outside. To begin, the bed was clean and comfortable and the television was a good size for a hotel room (HD flat screen, guessing 42", but channels were not HD). We checked in, lobby was clean, but turning the corner down the hallway, the rugs had clumps dirt the entire length which were there still the next morning. The room we were staying in was non-smoking, but at the very end of a hallway of smoking rooms, which you could smell the smoke inside our room. In the room, there was an empty bag of famous amos cookies left on the night stand. The toilet paper holder is falling out of the wall, and hot and cold are reversed on the bathroom sink. The description of the room said a sofa bed, which in my mind a sofa sits 3 people, and a pull out sofa bed should fit two people, but it was a love seat which sat 2 people, and the bed is about the size of a short single mattress. So since this unexpected size of the bed presented our two kids from sleeping on it, we asked for a cot, but the empty hotel didn't have any left. The staircase by the pool smelled of urine, and the door was broken and wouldn't open from the outside so people were propping it open with a 'wet floor' sign so they didn't have to walk back through the lobby.

This is one of two hotels at exit 171 of I-95. Both are "higher-end" and most likely built in conjunction with the events center/music theater at the same exit. The Best Western has two stories and rooms are entered from inside. The lobby and breakfast areas are connected. Both are attractive. The fitness center has functioning equipment and is well-maintained. The business center overlooks the lobby. It's an open space by the elevator and stairs. The outdoor pool needed a skimming, but looked alright. The hallways and stairwells had a musty smell. Our room was a Junior King. Booking.com is how we got the room. Booking.com screwed up the description (no spa tub, just a basic shower/tub), so we got stuff we did not need (a wet bar and sleeper sofa) and ended up paying more for it. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Everything worked as expected. The AC unit was set to 70, but it felt much warmer (and humid) until later in the evening (we arrived around 5:30pm). The breakfast buffet had enough selections to satisfy our needs. The eggs were fixed up with add-ons available (jalapeños, cheese, onions) and there were pastries, bread, a waffle maker and instant grits and oatmeal. Juice, yogurt and milk were on hand, too. Was it worth the money we paid? No, because we did not get the room expected and the hotel does not have to do squat since we used Booking.com. Would a lesser room at a lower price have worked? Probably At least it is a newer build and we did not do a dice roll on a budget motel at exit 173.

    « Not impressed »

We were driving from New York back home to Florida. The price was good and I thought the reviews were too. The staff was really nice. She gave us a good plus the Jacuzzi suite. The room was ok. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. My complaints are they should not allow smoking rooms in hotels. If they do offer them they should all be on one floor. I could smell cigarette smoke in our room. It wasn't super strong but it was enough. I have asthma and it irritated me some. I didn't care for the breakfast. But the family did.

Another NC Best Western which we are not impressed with. 1st rm had windows duct taped, did not close totally. Room they moved us into - walls were dirty. Asked them to clean the next day when we were out, which they did. When niece fell on the wet floor entering the hotel, slipped and fell, hit her head (bounced) very hard, - desk clerk was not helpful & didn't want to give accident report, took about 5 times asking b/r got one. On the other side - breakfast staff was wonderful and the housekeeping staff was very nice. Won't return.

The Best Western at Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina is a great place to stay. It is clean, comfortable, and has excellent staff. There are good restaurants nearby as well. It was a pleasure to stay there.

    « Awful All Around »

Have traveled through this area quite a few times in the past 3 years. Usually stay in Wilson but this time needed something closer to the VA border. The location was the only good thing about this place. Our room was on the second floor. Booked non smoking, room was very distinctly a smoking room.A/C blowing warm air...so room was musty. It was late and I was tired. My child climbed into bed and fell asleep. I took a shower in the ancient bathtub with a bent shower curtain and a shower control that was hanging loosely from the wall. Went to climb into bed, pulled back the covers and found a SOCK... pulled back the covers more to see hair all over the sheet. It had never been changed from previous guest. (and worse, my child was now asleep in this bed). Went down to front desk but office door closed and no one came out. Decided since I really only had a few hours until I had to get back up and hit the road again, we'd use the blanket and sleeping bag we had in car. Back up to room. Situated ourselves. Finally fall asleep. Knock on door. Woman looking for her children (at midnite mind you). Fall back to sleep. 130. Knock on door. Man looking for his key...saying this was his room. (he was one room off from his own). A few hours of tossing and turning listening to the noise in the hall since there is no sound barrier and you hear everything. No sleep in dirty room. Decide to tell front desk on way to put bag back in car. No one at front desk. Light was actually off and office door closed. My child asked for breakfast and against better judgement we sat down. She was eating her bagel and I was drinking my coffee when we saw a spider crawl across the counter with the waffle station on it. Grabbed my kid and got out of there fast. Did see someone at front desk as we were leaving, and i did tell her about the sheets...she agreed it was disgusting. Apologized. But at that point, it was just time to leave. Im not picky when it comes to roadside hotels. Some are better than others, but this one I will definitely avoid in the future. Noisy halls will happen. Spiders happen. Knocks on doors happen. But the not changing the linens between guests is just plain old lazy and unsanitary.

    « Better than rated!!!! »

We were very impressed by the comfortable clean room. We didn't have a chance to visit the gym or pool but they appeared to be very nice. After sleeping comfortably on a cozy bed in a well climate controlled environment, we were treated to a hearty satisfying breakfast. We definitely felt that we got our money's worth. We would certainly not hesitate to seek out other Best Westerns in the future!

This is an excellent choice for this area. I have a pet and it is very accommodating. The breakfast was outstanding. The location was also great, right off I-95. Easy check-in and check-out. Pool looked nice although I did not use.

« Comfy room and right off Route 95 »

was pleasnatly surprised with this hotel. I'm always leary of inexpensive hotels (we usually stay at Hampton Inn), you just never know what you're going to get. this hotel was quite nice. room was clean and the bed was comfy. breakfast was decent. front desk said they typically have either scrambled or fried eggs. on this day they had fried. hubby said would have preferred scrambled but that's just a matter of taste. we stayed one night. We will certainly stay here again if we are in this area.

    « Quick trip »

wouyd gave been excellent if not had odor in hallway Help is usually very great abouot assistance with any needs. Clean both inside and outside is maintained. For some reason there was a very offensive odor in the hallway this time reminisant of cat urine. It was however only in the hallway and not in the room so we stayed anyway as it has always been a very pleasant place to stay. Conveinient to I-95 and reasonable priced. Had there not been that odor I would have said 4 stars.

    « Very Nice »

We were happy with our stay. Beds were soft. I like it when the sink is separate from the tub and toilet. Corners in the bathroom could have been a little cleaner. Breakfast was fine. Attended to nicely. Not much else at this exit, only another hotel and a gas station.

    4
    « Pleased »

This was a good place to stay with a great staff. It was very convenient to our family function and it was nice to be outside the city limits. The breakfast better with warmer and more home cooked scramble eggs.

« Needs updating in some areas. »

This hotel is in need of updating. The spout in the tub was away from the wall about 1/8 of an inch and I know the water ran behind the wall. The water in the tub would only come out of the shower spout. This took a long time for the tub the even fill quarter way. The pillows were thin. The breakfast was however very good. We were unable to get a nonsmoking room and this was very unpleasant.

Very comfortable, clean hotel; easy access to highway. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Have stayed at other hotels in Roanoke Rapids, but would highly recommend Best Western. Complimentary breakfast includes hot and cold options; good selection.

« Overnight Stay on way down to Florida »

I highly recommend this hotel. We stayed overnight on our way to Florida and we were late getting to the hotel. Front staff were fantastic and our check in was seamless. When booking make sure you ask for Non Smoking Room if a non smoker as USA do not have the same smoking laws we have in Canada. We had a Queen size room (2 queen size beds...) and nice large bathroom. Lots of towels in the bathroom and spotlessly clean just like the room was too. Beds very comfortable. Nice TV , free Wi-Fi (that actually was easy to access). We had a complimentary breakfast included in the price and it was fantastic. You could have eggs, sausage, bacon and cereals. Waffle machine to make fresh waffles. Yogurt and fresh fruit. A good selection of breads and muffins for toasting and also pastries. Tea, coffee and fruit juice. Very good experience from checking in to the hotel to departing, just great.

A very nice hotel. The front desk staff was welcoming. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. The breakfast area was clean and the breakfast was above average. The location was convenient right off of I-95. We will return on our travels along I-95.

We stayed at the Best Western in Roanoke Rapids for a night during our annual striper fishing trip. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Even though the hotel was full, it was quiet and the rooms were comfortable. The breakfast the morning we were there was satisfactory. I would highly recommend this hotel for a future stay.

    « Nice Hotel »

The motel lobby was clean and check-in was without incident. The location of the motel was very convenient. The price was very affordable. The only real complaint I have, is the bed was too soft, however, my wife likes soft beds, so she thought it was fine.

« Modern hotel with poor management »

We stayed here on a road trip from Florida to NJ. Our room was OK , but the neighbors weren't. We were weary from our long drive and tried to go to sleep around 10 PM. Immediately, there were s=creaming children in the hallway outside our door. Then about an hour later, large family sharing two rooms across the hall had crying babied, adults opening and slamming the two doors and talking loudly in the hall. We called the front desk to get us a different room and the one and only staff there was overwhelmed by the workload and told us there were no other rooms. We got little to no sleep that night. Our stay there was capped off by a horrible breakfast of reconstituted eggs. It was a miserable stay and I would recommend anyone to avoid this hotel. Also, the room was cooled and heated by a wall mounted heat pump system that would start and stop noisily, clunk when it cycled down. Horrible time there.

    « First visit a great one »

My sister-law and I travel together, this was our first stay at a Best Western, We will be staying here again. Pleasant staff, soft beds, good location at a good price. The appearance both inside and out were impressive. It's very clean, with beautiful décor. I couldn't believe how nice this hotel was at the price I was paying. If you are looking for a nice hotel in this area, you won't be disappointed. Drive safely& good traveling.

    « Rooms need attention »

We are Best Westerns reward members and have been for some years. This hotel was not maintained in a clean manner as other BW properties were. There was visible dust on all fixtures to include the TV screen. There was mold clearly visible on the shower wall where it meet the tub. From the time we entered the room it smelled like a wet animal. To which we found out was a pet friendly hotel which we also love pets just clean up after them. Not what I expected from BW. Need more attention placed on cleanliness and would be a nice place to stay.

« Terrible One Night Stay »

Arrived at 9pm exhausted from 10+ hour drive from Florida. Check in was ok, person was not friendly. Room was on 2nd floor, it was average and dated. Walls are paper thin. There was a group that were staying all around me that were the most rude and noisy people I have ever encountered staying in hotels. Slamming doors, sitting/standing outside rooms talking at 11:30-12 at night. I contacted the front desk who said they would come up. The noise continued through the night. I could not wait to get out of there and left pretty early the next morning. I had to interrupt a conversation between employees at the reception desk so I could check out. There was no apology, the person was very unprofessional. I was extremely happy to leave that place and would not recommend to anyone.

    « Bereavement Stay_unsanitary and unsatisfactory conditions »

I am writing you to make you aware of the unsanitary and unsatisfactory conditions of Best Western Roanoke Rapids Hotel & Suites. The rooms were filthy. The lady that was managing the front desk was as accommodating as possible and allowed my family & to change the rooms. 1st | Room 248 The room had a horrid (vomit) odor. That would not dissipate even after spraying disinfectant. The bathroom door would not shut or lock. 2nd | Room 206 I discovered the bathroom door had toilet paper on the handle as I was shutting the door. The smell wasn't pleasant but it was bearable. The shower had ring around the tube. The curtain rod was practically falling off the wall. And the bathroom door would not shut or lock. The toilet flushed when another room See the attached photo. 3rd | Room 205 The bathroom door doesn't fit on the door jam. The door will not shut properly did not lock. The tub also had ring around the tub. Overall the odor was a lot more tolerable than the previous two rooms. In addition the all of these annoying problems there wasn't and linen provided for the pull on mini-bed. I had to ask at the front desk and without being given the blanket. Just sheets ... I'm not understanding the how this can happen. I eventually received a blanket expressing my displeasure. Not happy. I am not intending on staying in Best Western ever again. It's not a new hotel but clean and very comfortable. It is pet friendly. The staff was very nice and helpful. The Good location. Easy to get to from the highway. Restaurants not too far. I would recommend this hotel.

    « Courteous Staff »

Great place to stay. Centrally located near shopping and restaurants. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. 24 hour coffee in lobby was a nice feature. The gym was cozy and clean. The bottled water and crackers and mints upon our arrival was a very nice touch!

« Service good, room so so and needs updating »

Service was good by the people I talked to. The hotel needs and update and is very loud from room to room. Food was ok for a quick breakfast and food area was clean. Not many food service options without traveling about4-5 miles.

    2
    « Quick Overnight stay »

Much better options in the area. Price was decent, but hotel was dated and our room was not in the best shape. They only had one person working the front desk and breakfast area in the morning and the hotel was crowded. Front of the hotel has s terrible septic smell when we were leaving the next morning. Will stay at another property in the area next time.

    « It is OK! »

« Great price, helpful front desk personnel, clean room »

Unexpectedly, I needed a place to stay with my three grandchildren. The Best Western met our needs and was very, very reasonably priced! Friendly staff, clean, safe environment-- I can definitely recommend this hotel.

« A little pricey, but clean and nice »

This hotel is nicely cleaned and maintained, and staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel pricing is, generally, a bit expensive compared to similar Quality or Comfort Inns. Nightly price for having a pet stay in room is $20, which is also high. Overall, a nice, clean hotel.

    « Stranded »

We were stranded with a broken down vehicle in Roanoke Rapids. Our problems had mounted during our trip from Florida, until finally we were out of luck. The local police gave us a ride to this awesome motel where we found a spotlessly clean room, great breakfast, and most unexpectedly of all, the inn keeper offered to ferry us to a rental car location. We found the one thing that we needed more than anything, a friendly person. I would not hesitate to stay at this motel again on any trip in the area and I recommend that you stay here too. In case you are wondering, you won't hear the interstate as there is a large sod berm protecting the property from road noise. Thanks!

« Overnight stop on way home from Daytona Bike Week »

Booked on Hotels.com; good price at the area I wanted to stop for the night. Parking lot good size with lighting so I didn't have to unhook my trailer with m/c. Prepaid so check in quick and easy; elevator to second floor so no trouble getting luggage to room. Nice room with everything we needed; fiancee really liked the comfort of the bed. Good breakfast buffet set us up for our second day on the road.

    « Completely surprised »

My agenda was Florida where I was registered at another Best Western. They offered a deal if you stayed at two separate Best Westerns and Roanoke Rapids came into play on my way down. It is a beautifully, renovated hotels with upgrades galore. My room was spotless and, surprisingly, REALLY nice. The staff was friendly, nice, helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. Michele, the night desk clerk, actually came up to my room and helped with my "Smart T.V." that wasn't quite set up for use yet. Breakfast was convenient, arranged well good and completed. You cannot beat this hotel, especially for the price. I'd go back in a minute.

    « Comfortable and convenient »

I recently visited N. Carolina for my aunts funeral. Best Western Roanoke Rapids was priced very reasonably and looked nice online. I was relieved to arrive and see that the pictures online were comparable to seeing it in person. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms spacious and beds comfortable. It was also conveniently located alongside I95. I would definitely recommend Best Western Roanoke Rapids.

« Beds Swallowed Us Up »

The overall location of this hotel was perfect, directly off the highway (you can actually see it from the highway). The front desk staff was very helpful and very attentive to our needs to arriving late (paperwork and room keys were waiting on us upon our midnight arrival). The rooms were very clean, the bathrooms were very clean, the comfort of the beds was AWESOME (felt like the mattresses swallowed you up), the breakfast dining area and the food was amazing. The staff handling the breakfast area was very thorough on making sure the tables were wiped off immediately after guests left and making sure the items were stocked up, coffee was fresh, counter wiped off and cleaned up too.

« Clean Place to Stay »

The staff is friendly and represents the Best Western brand very well. We needed a pet friendly hotel and this hotel accepted our pet. I wish there had been a designated pet walking area and a pet waste disposal site, but other than that and a too soft mattress, we could not have been happier with our choice of hotels.

« Clean comfortable good stay. »

Pleasant surprise in the country. I was heading north on a new10 day business trip. Was about 600 miles from home and tired. Found this place to be perfect. Good clean room with strong Internet a more than adequate breakfast and quiet. There were some electric company crews there that were gone early I didn't hear them leave at all.

    « Very Satisfied »

I stopped at this hotel on my way home from FL and found it to be the perfect choice. Although the lobby area was undergoing renovations, there was no noise to interfere with my sleep. The room was clean and well appointed. It came with a nice size refrigerator and microwave. The free WIFI worked well. The choices at the included breakfast were varied. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions and directions to them. My only suggestion would be a larger sign on the road pointing out the hotel. My GPS only guided me to make a left hand turn at the exit. After that it was up to me to find the hotel in the dark.

    « Nice place but »

Made our reservations over the phone and we were very satisfied with Cheryl..We asked if we could sign up for the 25$ gift card promotion and were told we could do it when we checked in. Upon arrival the check in agent seemed to busy for us. Initially we had to go find her as nobody was behind the desk. When we asked the agent...Gunta was her name..about the 25$gift card sign in she said we would have to go online or call the 888 number on my rewards card. I pointed out that the advertisement that was on the counter in front of her stated we could sign up at the front desk. She basically dismissed me and said call the 888 #.VERY RUDE!!!...other than the one rude person the place was great..fair price...good location nice breakfast...I finally did call the 888# and discovered that Cheryl who we had contacted by phone for our reservation had taken the time to put us in for the gift card...Kudos to Cherly thumbs down for Gunta,

The weather was terrible and we were lucky enough to find one of the last rooms at the hotel and they were very kind, pleasant and helpful. My only complaint was that all the restaurants were closed on Sunday morning so there's really no Sunday brunch there but the hotel breakfast was better than most relative to the breakfasts you get at hotels like this one. We probably will choose this hotel again.

« nice place to rest for the night »

Hotel is comfortable, updated and all around in excellent condition. Staff was courteous and pleasant. The full breakfast was also excellent with a wide variety of selections, hot and cold. Only gripe was a slightly noisy A.C. unit.

Both sides of the King bed in room #138 were broken-down, which caused a restless night of sleep and sore backs for my wife and I. Strongly recommend a new mattress/box spring. Extra pillows in the closet would have been nice.Great breakfast

    « Decent hotel »

My wife and I stayed here on our way south. Hotel was easy to get to, right off the highway. Decent hotel, room was clean but smelled of cigarette smoke. Bed linen and pillow were clean but skimpy. If you plan on eating at the free continental breakfast, get there early. They were running out of stuff when I got there. I am not sure I would stay there again. I think I would try another hotel in the area.

    « Clean and friendly »

The room and the breakfast for all of our needs. Paid in the 80s so very happy with what we got for the price. Everything was clean and the room was nice and cool. Breakfast was mediocre but still good for the price

    « Pleasant Stay »

Clean comfortable room, above average breakfast included. Very friendly staff. Room was amble size, however, the bathroom vanity is in the main entrance way behind the entrance door, and open to room. Hotel is located directly off I-95, restaurants and shopping a short drive some two miles away.

« Incodent on leaving the shower »

I was very pleased with the room it was very nice and clean The only negative moment I encountered was upon leaning on the support holder outside the shower it almost came out of the wall I wrote a little note explaining the problem and handed it to the desk clerk

    « Stop over »

This is an ok hotel to stop over not for a long visit. We stopped here as part of a transition to SC. Very basic room with refrigerator and microwave. Breakfast included with waffles and biscuits and gravy. The bathrooms are tiny. The staff is nice and helpful. The hotel was nicely decorated for Christmas.

« Worth staying here despite not at main exit. »

Had been staying at another hotel for several years on drives North. Have non shedding dog. Place is clean and has new carpeting throughout. It is less that 2 miles from all the food choices at the next exit, and no need to get back on I-95 using a simple and direct road in front of hotel. We will use this as our regular stopping place in the future.

    « Great stop over! »

I was only staying for a night while I traveled from Maryland to Florida, and it was a great place for a stopover! The night staff was friendly and helpful, there was a mini fridge AND a microwave which I really liked because I had food I had wanted to heat back up from earlier in my trip. I didn't get up in time for breakfast so I can't comment on that, but that's just because it was so nice, comfy, and quiet in my room.

All the staff working the two times that I was there, were very polite, helpful, and very well-informed. You can be sure that on my next trip, I will stop at your hotel again. Nice and clean hotel, room clean and comfortable. We had a good night sleep and we were ready for travelling the next day. Thank You all. Jean Claude Roy, #6006636501206215

It has been 10 days since we were there and i have stayed in 8 different places and can't remember anything about the room as we got up early 4 am and left. If it was bad I would have remembered that.

    « Great Stay »

Everything from check-in to check out was great. The queen beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. The microwave and fridge were an added bonus. The breakfast was ready on time at 6:30 with sausage, gravy, biscuits, fruits, and many other items to choose from. We will definitely stay here again when passing through.

    « Great stop over! »

This was our 3rd visit to the Best Western and it never fails to satisfy all our needs. Our room is always clean and comfy.. WIfi works nicely and the breakfast is super good! The best part is the most resonable rates you can find! Especially considering the class 1 service, you'd expect the rate to be higher. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially when I was making a mess of cooking a waffle! :) Wonderful place which I'm sure we will always make this hotel our stop over when traveling 95 to the south. Easy on and off too. Lots of good restaurants in the area also! Can't be beat!!

    « Needs upgrading »

For another $15.00 a night I could have stayed at the Hilton Garden across the way. This hotel was old and really needs some cosmetic upgrade. I was very disappointed in the quality of this Best Western. I will certainly hesitate to recommend this to any one.

The road leading to the hotel not marked and very dark. Almost passed it up. Get a sign up by the gas station and you may get more business. Breakfast was great. Food hot and ready to be eaten at 630. Very helpful when traveling.

    « Good value for a quick night's stop »

The room was clean and serviceable. The room was dated but in good working order. The staff was very friendly and helpful and while located close to the highway we didn't hear any traffic during the night.

« Not bad for one night. »

Bed was comfortable but was a little itchy for my wife and I in the middle of the night. Not sure why. Searched for bedbugs but didn't find any but she had a few bites on her in the morning. The breakfast was not very good at all.

Excellent. One of the nicest Best Western we have stayed in. Also, they provided water gift packet upon arrival and their breakfast was perfect. The room was perfect and had a fresh non perfumed smell. I noted the number in my cell for the next time we travel this same route. Excellent stop.

« The bed was good but.... »

The bed slept well and the place was reasonably clean. Didn't like that my non-smoking room was on the same hall as smoking rooms. The smell of smoke was VERY prevalent in the hallway. Smoking rooms should be well away from non-smoking rooms!

    « Need more staff »

We checked in around 4 in the afternoon on a Sunday and the process was quick. I noticed that most of the guests were placed on the far end of the second floor (there are only 2 floors btw). Isay that because there were only a few vehicles on the parking lot. When I called the front desk for extra towels I was told that it will be a while since the front desk staff is the only one in there and she will deliver it to us. I went down stairs and pick it up myself. The next morning I went to the gym and there was no towel, so I found somebody who came out of the housekeeping room and asked for towels and he cant find any on the housekeeping room. There is no disinfectant in the gym and their equipments are kinda outdated. There were some guests that were loud coming back past midnight and since our room is close to I 95 side the noise kept us awake.

    « One night stay »

This Best Western is good for a one night stay only. Room was almost clean. I was greeted by a big black spider and lots of dust bunnies hanging from the ceiling. Bed was terrible. Must have been 30 years old! Bathroom fixtures the same, faucet coming away from wall, handrail loose. Probably will not stay there again.

    « Excellent short stay »

We found the hotel through I95 travel magazine. They had a coupon! Price was great so we were a little leary, but it turned out to be an awesome find! Very clean hotel. Staff was very friendly. No amenities/resturants at exit, but we were able to have food delivered that the front desk helped us with, within 30 minutes on a Saturday! Good stop on our way home from Florida! We would definitely stay again!

    « Very happy »

Room was clean, I app that Evan the remote was clean and bagged, I have not seen that at very many hotels. I would like to note that myself suffer from allergies and did have to clean the filter to a/c it was a little dirty but not seriously bad, I choose Best Western that night by location and by previous experience the night before at your Tully Ny location the room there was just as clean and the a/c filter was excellent. Both locations staff were very friendly and helpful.

« Horrible!!!! They give you smoking rooms regardless of what you book!! Customer service is the worst I've ever seen!!! »

I booked 2 non smoking rooms as a sleep stop while driving from Florida to NJ with my 4 children and was put in 2 smoking rooms. When I approached the lady at front desk, (who said she was the assistant manager) after getting in the room at 2:30am, about the issue she said they only had smoking rooms and my booking came in as a smoking room. I showed her my confirmation (picture attached) and she said you may have non smoking on the confirmation but that's not what you came through as. I'm not sure what that means or how that happens and I'm pretty sure when you get a confirmation it is "confirming" what you paid for... But apparently not at this hotel. After she advised me there were no more rooms in the hotel and that they were completely booked from 7pm at night I showed her that I booked the rooms at 11:50pm online and had many options of room types to choose from when I booked. She was not nice or friendly about it at all. I explained to her that I understood it wasn't her fault and that she may have gotten it sent over as smoking but that's not what I paid for and my confirmation was showing that. She then said I can show you that you came through as a smoking room and proceeded to show me a paper that didn't say anything about smoking OR non smoking. It just had my information on it. I asked to have a copy of that paper so I could take it up with the manager in the morning....being it was 2:30 in the morning at the moment...and she said..."oh I have to cut some information off of it because it's the voucher from Priceline and I can't reveal the price they pay for the room to you". I advised her that at that point I didn't really care about what they pay for the room and it was fine for her to cut it but if she could just initial that she cut the paper and that I stayed in a smoking room. I also at that point asked do the managers name so I could speak to them in the morning. She kept trying to tell me that I could talk to whoever I wanted to but I want gonna get a refund and that, and I quote, "I see this happen ALL the time, and no one ever gets a refund! I at this point was completely losing patience with her and said "I will take care of it, you don't have to worry about it. If I could just have a copy of whatever you have so that I can take it up with someone in the morning..." Well after fighting with me about how I was still gonna have to pay for the room regardless of who I took this information to in the morning she put her initials on it and slammed the door! And never game me the name of the manager. Worst customer service EVER!!!! Major customer training needs to go on here....especially if you are a manager of any type! The customer is always right....even more so when they have proof!!! And to think we were in the south....usually it's service with a smile. Not here at the Best Western Roanoke Rapids. Nasty assistant Managers, who don't want to help the customer but instead tell them how they WILL NOT get any help from the company, is all you'll get here!! Oh and apparently...according to the assistant manager, if you book a non smoking room online you won't get it!! You'll get whatever type of room "comes through the system"...regardless of what your confirmation says. Because "she sees this happen all the time"!! Clearly on top of the customer service training they need a system upgrade of some sort!! I WOULD NOT recommend this place ever!! Go an exit before or after and give those hotels your business. This one doesn't deserve to stay open!!

    « Quiet Location »

The room was nice, clean and comfortable. We stayed one night on our way to MB. The breakfast area was nice and well stocked. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the odor from the HVAC unit in the room. I had to shut it off to get rid of the odor. Thankfully we didn't need it.

« Stay here with confidence »

Everything was great. The price was best in the area; room was clean; staff very friendly. There was even a tray of cookies when we checked in -- a nice touch. Breakfast was good; the lady greeted everyone with a smile and friendly hello; she kept the entire area clean and refilled quickly. Definitely recommended; will stay here again on our next trip.

People were great, facilities were great, breakfast was a bomb. Everything was perfect until breakfast. Threw away biscuits and gravy. Man next to us tossed his waffle. Had yogurt and banana but everything else was so good that we would go back and eat breakfast out.

« Sufficient for my needs »

While traveling for a funeral, I had to sop for the evening. It was easy to get to, clean and well lit. Since I was not looking for much, it filled my needs. The staff was friendly, rooms were clean and breakfast looked more than adequate. Cons were my door didn't lock correctly from the outside, but did from the interior. And the A/C wouldn't get cool enough. I would stay there again.

« Ideal Location and Service »

We were on a trip along I95 in North Carolina and stayed at the Best Western Roanoke Rapids. The hotel was just off the interstate in a very quiet setting. The hotel is well maintained and staffed with caring and professional people. Although close to the interstate there was a great choice of restaurants close a short distance from the hotel. The rooms was clean and well stocked and serve a fresh hot breakfast. We had a great night's sleep and were back on the road quickly the next morning. This hotel is perfect stop if you are traveling along I95.

« Clean and cheap accommodation along the I95 »

Rooms are clean, plenty of pillows, in room fridge and coffee maker. Check in was quick and the desk attendant very pleasant. Easy access to I95 and a five minute drive to restaurants. Typical breakfast bar is included which is very good. Scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, coffee and hot water for tea. Only down side was the lack of fresh fruit. There was fruit bowl but it was empty and did not get refilled Have stayed here many times and will stay here again

« Very Nice Best Western »

We selected this hotel due to the mileage point for us during our multi day trip south. We like to stop between 8-9 hrs. of driving. We also like the Best Western brand and are Rewards members. That said, this particular hotel was in a very isolated part of Roanoke Rapids, with the prior exit for this city being more in the hub. Also when exiting off of 95 S, the website had the wrong direction, telling us to turn left, rather than turn right. We did ask them to fix this error. After you turn right, you will once again turn right onto Sheraton Dr. and drive along a road with nothing else on it but this hotel. We assume that they believe "if they build it, they will come", but right now, isolated. For dinner, we were able to drive straight (another right out of Sheraton Dr.) along Rt 125 about 3 miles to an intersection where all the other hotels and restaurants were located. The hotel was very nice and used to be a Holiday Inn Express, so some of those features were still evident. Everything was clean, breakfast was good, WiFi worked, TV was fine, and beds were comfortable. My only "complaint" was that the extra chain lock on the door was missing. I did not feel unsafe but this should have been replaced before renting the room. Staff was very nice though not excellent. For our one night stay, we were pleased. I was able to get the AAA rate of $71.00/night plus tax.

« very clean and nice staff »

there are four areas I find important when rating a motel. Convenience, Cost Cleanliness and Customer service. This Best Western excelled in all areas. The only thing I would change was to have restaurants at the same exit. We had to return to the other exit to eat and there were many places to choose from there.

    « Poor Customer Service »

I booked my hotel room online. When I got there I noticed a AAA sign. I asked the hotel clerk if I could give her my AAA card for a discount. She said that since I did the transaction online that she was not able to give me the discount. What ever happened to "Do what it takes to satisfy the customer"? She should have cancelled my room and submitted the transaction herself and given me the discount that I was entitled to. On a positive note, there are many other hotels within the area that I will go to on my next visit which is monthly.

    « Best Western »

The aminities I enjoyed the most were the microwave and refrigerator. Many hotels have gotten away from providing microwaves and refrigerators. It is nice to have when you have left overs from a restaurant or in this case there was a major storm and you don't have a place to put or warm food.

    « Not the best. »

Arrived late and tired, had a king bed reserved for us. Staff was helpful. The bed was too soft started Saturday with a sore back. Air conditioner would not cool the room off enough to get comfortable. Didn't eat the breakfast but everything looked and smelled great.

We travel quite a lot and always look for hotels with reasonable prices ,plenty of non-smoking and close to the highway also we look for restaurants close by. We have stayed at many Best Western in the past, but this was probably before hotels started the service we now signing up for. I think this a very good idea, a long time coming. I do recommend this to my friends. James McAlpine

    « Not so nice! »
