Best Western Plus Governor's Inn

Chauna Jones and her staff made our training event a complete success - clean conference room, special group rates, among other things. We come once a year, and the desk staff knew our names as we checked in.

The staff was very pleasant and the continental breakfast was up to par. The establishment appears to be in renovation phase but the room we stayed in was Despicable. Wallpaper coming off the wall, the nastiest bathroom floor I've seen in quite some time and I don't think anybody had dusted for maybe a week to 10 days. Money best spent someplace else. Also should have known when my reservations were non-refundable. They wouldn't make any money if they allowed refunds. I have photos but could not attach.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Very comfortable and quiet rooms. The jacuzzi is the icing on the cake!! If you can, ask for Shawna!! She always makes sure your stay is a GREAT one!!!!

We stay here when visiting our family in the Richmond area. Room rates are not bad and we usually get extra points for our stay. If you need an accessible room, ask for the 2 queen room which is in the main building. The accessible king room is in a different building on the ground floor and you have to drive over for breakfast.

The staff was great all around. Beds were confrontable & the whole place was clean. We had a quiet room on the 2nd floor. No noise up or down left or right. Great breakfast in the morning. Close to where my nephew got married. That's why we made the trip to Richmond, VA

Everything was wonderful I love staying at the best western plus when I have something special going on or just when I wanna get away and relax and enjoy the deluxe jazzcui tub and a nice king size bed and Wonder room

If you are traveling and you want to be comfortable this is the hotel to stay in. The beds are comfy, rooms are clean, showers are great and even with a function going on in the hall, you won't hear a noise. Breakfast is excellent, coffee is great and always available. If you are traveling alone and want to feel safe and secure, stay here. The staff is top notch.. especially the ladies at the front desk they are friendly and make you feel right at home. They really go above and beyond. I will definitely be staying here again.

We've stayed here twice so far with our kids and really love the location. We come down from Fredericksburg to take a break from the heat, swim in the pool and relax. The staff is excellent and kind. Breakfast has been great as well. Only two things: our bathroom was slightly dirty in the tub and the second building seems to have a permanent resident that smokes pot a lot. The first floor of that entire building smells like pot.....or as my kids say "a skunk". Other than that, it's a great hotel tucked away off the main road with tons of great food options around.

I can't believe the decline in service in 2 months. Housekeeping was terrible, multiple calls for items like shampoo, coffee and towels. Hotel has exactly 2 accessible rooms, the king room is in a different building from the breakfast room necessitating driving to the other building. Breakfast is boring, no variety in 4 days, no biscuits for sausage gravy, no cream cheese some days.

We stayed at the Governors Inn on the way to Charleston, SC and again on the way home. Each stay was enjoyable; pleasant staff; well appointed and clean rooms; close to restaurants, shopping, etc. We would definitely stay here again!

I love this place and the people. The beds are comfortable. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The location is good. It's near everything but still tucked away and private. The second building needs an elevator. The rooms are large and comfy.

The friendliest front desk staff I've ever had. Always cheery, happy to answer all my questions, quick to respond to a few needs I had. Can't say enough about them. It's a very unusual design for a hotel, but the quirky was actually fun. Would definitely stay there again.

My S.O. and I stayed here for 1 night on the weekend. The beds were nice and firm and it was very quiet for the duration of our stay. We went for their free breakfast and it was very good. Eggs, sausage, pastries, biscuits, sausage gravy, fresh fruits, etc have become common in many hotels today. What made our breakfast experience stand out was one particular staff member, Ms. Penny. She was one of the sweetest, most helpful hotel staff members we've ever met. She was on top of everything - making sure everything was stocked, trying to make sure we had whatever we needed and knew how to use everything in there. Super sweet, super helpful. Definitely recommend staying here.

Stayed two nights with my husband and son and we have been to many hotels and this one is our favorite by far! The breakfast selection was amazing and thoroughly stocked and cleaned by the sweet employee, Penny. The hospitality and customer service from the rest of the staff was wonderful as well! They even asked how our movie premiere went, so considerate. THAT is how you treat your guests! The rooms had a ton of space as well. Wish they were carpeted but that was easy to accommodate. Overall, very pleased with our stay (and I speak for the rest of the group)

This is a beautiful hotel and very well maintained. At check in we were cheerfully greeted by the front desk clerk who was very friendly and personable. The staff obviously take pride in their facility. The room was large. Very nice linens, large, fluffy white towels, sheets that fit the bed and the entire hotel is very clean. The hallways are very wide and nicely decorated. The breakfast is great. They have a large breakfast area and the cook is rightfully proud of the breakfast. My husband used the gym and said that it is one of the better hotel gyms. On the first floor they have a guest laundry. $2.00/wash and $1.50/dryer. They have 2 washers and 2 dryers. This was an awesome experience and we will definitely return if we are in the area.

This is an older hotel with some quirks, but the staff are more than willing to help you out! You need to pull the door towards you for the key card to work. Situated close to several great restaurants (A Kitchen and Seoul Kitchen).

The room was large compared to other hotels, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. We were happy to have a hot breakfast, with a good variety of choices. Chenelle at checkin and Marcia at breakfast were superstars.

Serious water damage on the ceiling--drywall tape falling down. Suspect mold is/was present as had terrible congestion upon sleeping there. Bathroom had not been cleaned in quite some time, hair piles in corners. Toilet dirty with old urine stains at base. Sheets stained. Supposed to get a free breakfast, but it is in the other building-didn't want to eat it with conditions of hotel. No elevators. No room cleaning. To get replacement towels had to go to the other building to get. I think the health department needs called on this place. Whatever you do, do not stay--we had to as part of a tournament and several people in our group checked out early and went to other hotels. It was truly awful and disgusting. Advised front desk of the severe water damage/mold concerns, never heard back.

My boyfriend and I came to Richmond for CDL training and were given a free hotel room a couple miles down the road, it was disgusting when we got there and decided to just buy our own room somewhere nice. Thank god we found Best Western plus Governers Inn. the receptionists were so graceful and Marcia had breakfast waiting for us every morning. It felt like we were at home, and the rooms were clean and fresh. 10/10

This was very clean place to stay! We had to come down Richlands va and camp creek wva for a dr. appointment. This definitely will be the place we will be coming back to.Beds very comfy! Everyone so very nice! The breakfast was great too and the Marcia was so nice to us!

Great pricing but most importantly greater people, thanks for being a diamond in the rough. I've stayed multiple times because of the cleanliness, free parking, and easy check in and great checkout times. I'll keep going.

The Governor's Best Western is one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. The room, the people, the breakfast were all excellent! We stayed a few nights and when we'd return after a day's activities, I'd say, "we're headed home", meaning to the Best Western.

The hotel was just off the highway and was easy to find with our GPS. It was behind another business. The rate for an overnight stay was good. The room was over sized and clean. My only issue was there was wet paint on the inside of the bathroom door. I did not notify the front desk about the paint as we arrived late and just needed to crash. I would have postponed renting that room until it was dry. The breakfast included in the rate was a grab and go which suited our overnight stay before we pushed on to Charleston. Breakfast included hot tea and coffee in a self serve kiosk in the lobby. Breakfast was served by the front desk staff and included options for a hot breakfast sandwich, yogurt, cereal, fruit, pastry and a granola bar. Plenty for us to fill up on and have a snack for the road. The highlight for me was the welcoming front desk staff who were very welcoming when we arrived and when we were collecting our breakfast. Thanks for your hospitality!

I found this hotel on TA and we stayed the night before moving on to Charleston. The hotel is behind another business but we were able to find it easily using our GPS in the dark. The rates are good. The room was large and clean. My only concern was there was wet paint on the bathroom door. It might have been better to not rent that room while the paint was drying. The breakfast, included in the rate, was cereal, yogurt, tea coffee, granola bars and pastries all in a to go bag. It suited our get up and on the road needs and the evening and morning front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming.

This hotel is harder to find as it is behind a Korean restaurant so you would need to pass the restaurant's parking lot before getting to the hotel. We only found it thanks to another reviewer's comment. The interior of the hotel feels very medieval with lots of brick. The room itself feels like a typical hotel. The bathroom was renovated with newer granite tops but the bath tub is still the old pale pink of the 80's. No hot breakfast on Monday morning but just a to-go bag with danish, juice, granola... It was very unsatisfying. The hotel was ok for an overnight but I would not want to stay longer. The overall parking lot and brick interior just feels depressing.

Our room was very dirty, really dirty. The rooms are old and dated and dark - I can deal with that but not dirty and poorly cleaned. Surfaces had not been cleaned/wiped (sticky patches, hairs, dust - yuck. Crumbs on floor and coach. Door frames covered in marks and spills. I found an old, used coffee pouch in the coffee maker. One of our party arrived to their room and the aircon unit had been removed leaving a large hole to outside. Another had bugs crawling around in her bed. We left after one night. Only good point was one of the ladies at reception who was super friendly. The manager was abrupt and non-communicative. Could never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have stayed several nights at this neat, funky little gem (talking about the architecture, must see to believe and the interior has a solid 1970's vibe, but in a groovy kinda' way). The staff is excellent, the location was convient for visiting family, the grab and go breakfast was better than expected as was the self-serve breakfast buffet. This BW has definitely become out go-to accomodation when visiting Chesterfield. I highly reccommend.

I stayed here because the nearby Fairfield didn't have a room for 2 nights. Other nearby hotels had concerning reviews, but family have stayed here and been pleased despite its age. I wish I had shuffled between rooms at the Fairfield. Good: Bed was comfortable, linens were clean with no stains or anything. AC kept the room cool during an unreasonable hot spell. Breakfast was good, staff were very friendly. Bad: The toilet had clearly-visible dried urine on the seat. I cleaned it myself (who wants to annoy staff when your stuff is left alone in a room?). I went ahead and cleaned the shower, too, which left brown residue on my wipes. Shower head had lime scale. Sink sprayed water forward from a broken ring. For the price, it wasn't the end of the world. But the dirty bathroom is a real problem. I did not speak to staff because these were obvious problems. They know the sink is broken and they can see the lime scale, and someone walked out of the bathroom and left piss on the toilet, it's not like there was anything I could tell them that they don't already know and apparently don't care about.

The building has intriguing architecture. Unfortunately it almost seems like a ghost of better days. The surrounding area seems depressed and depleted. Lots of traffic makes coming and going difficult but it seems like every one is going some where else.

Over the past decade, I have been a loyal BW customer. How this place gets a Plus brand status is beyond me. From Sacramento to Orlando, I have never found this mid scale brand anything less than a seven. If there was a minus rating allowed, this would get it.

We enjoyed our stay at BW+ Governors Inn. Staff was helpful in making recommendations, rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. We did stay a little past our checkout time due to oversleeping and staff was extremely understanding.

Overall a very nice hotel. Admittedly it is dated in some respects the appliances are up to date and the grounds well kept. It feels like an old castle or manor house. We found everything to be clean and the staff were very friendly. We would definitely recommend this place!

Only stayed for one night and this sufficed. Didn't spend much time there, just needed a clean safe place to sleep and shower. The room was definitely dated, but the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included, and the location is convenient- less than half an hour outside of Richmond.

Hotel lobby is very nice with modern decor and the lobby bathrooms were very clean. Great location and the front desk staff was very friendly. Near lots of restaurants and shopping. Room was very clean.

The staff at this hotel was outstanding from. the very beginning. I arrived way before check-in time and they were able to accommodate me within a short period of time with a smile. Whenever we exited the building we were asked was everything okay and/or did we need anything. Honestly if I had to stay again I would choose to stay there because Shauna and Shanel were great. Also, anything you need is within a mile of the hotel as well you did not have to waste time and gas to get anytthing.

I checked in on 4/1 and checked out on 4/3. My room was not dusted. I had to clean the dust myself when I checked in. I had requested a room with 2 double beds, but got only a King. The front desk offered to give me a rollaway, which I took. But no one told me that I would be charged for that. I received a bill for the extra charges after I checked out and left the hotel. On the night of 4/2, the entire floor was smelling of substances/smoke. There was a huge group partying and making a lot of noise well into the night. It was totally unbearable. I will not recommend anyone staying here.

We were in town for a convention, and this hotel seemed the best deal with the best reviews. The reputation is well-earned, because the time we spent in the hotel was a delight, the jacuzzi tub was much needed after the driving and the convention-going. The smoke detector was chirping, but the lady at the desk replaced the batteries, and everyone who worked there made us feel welcome. Check-in was pleasant and easy. The breakfast was delicious and varied, so there was something for each of us. I would definitely stay, again!

We stayed here overnight after a medical appointment at MCV. We wanted to visit and have dinner with my brother's widow who lives in Powhatan. Then we were headed to Smithfield the next day. We had stayed here several times before, but not for a couple of years. Nothing much changed except breakfast was grab and go. Nice large room, very quiet and clean. Comfortable beds. Both check in and out, and at breakfast, the person was very nice,pleasant and helpful. Would definitely return when staying in the area. Recommend for a comfortable quiet night sleep.

I just spent 10 days at the Best Western Governors Inn. The rooms are spacious , but need to be renovated , sofas reupholstered etc. The lobby is small, there are vending machines and there is a breakfast room open on the weekends. Apart from this, there is no bar or any other amenities. The staff really are the reason why my stay was enjoyable. The Manager, Chauna, and her staff Tasha and Carina , go above and beyond to welcome and attend to their guests. Chauna is the reason the hotel functions well. I would return but hopefully after a few renovations were made.

We had a one night stay while traveling. The hotel was clean and Covid protocols were followed. They strictly enforced not pets and no smoking. the room was very well maintained. We needed the GPS to find the hotel as it was not visible from the road..

I traveled throughout Virginia and used different hotels in the process but Best Western is by far the best hotel i stayed in, from beginning to end the service was wonderful..Thanks Best Western.....

❌❌❌❌ RAICST EMPLOYEE(supposed manger) DO NOT STAY! Worst hospitality from hotel employees I have ever seen!!! Scrammers)!!!!!! DO NOT STAY!!!! !!!WOULDNT EVEN REFUND PAYMENT!! Worst hotel I have ever been to in my entire life. The so called manger if she was really even the manger, which I highly doubt. She was very racist towards myself and husband, and tried to force us into giving a cash only deposit. We were not allowed to use our bank card for the deposit. Which if paid in advance the site says your not supposed to be charged a deposit. This lady seemed like she was all messed up. I'm not sure if she just needs to see a mental doctor or if it was drugs. But I'm betting on drugs for the fact that she would not let us stay unless we have her 100.00$ cash only deposit an wouldn't let us use a card. It is absolutely the most ridiculous disgusting thing to see it for my own eyes what our country has become. Company no longer care what kinds of people they have as employees. Also when I asked for a refund she told me no that instead she would call the police. Beyond ridiculous. I told her to call them I had done nothing wrong. She was the one trying to scam us for drug money more than likely. I truly hope this employee is held responsible for her actions an is dealt consequences for this.

This hotel looks like it was there way way before all the things surrounding it were. The go's tells you to turn into the driveway and you need to drive quite far to actually get into the property. Don't be nervous, You are about to find a very special spot in the middle of an urban jungle! This place is so beautiful. It is completely built of brick and mortar. The grounds are impeccable. There is so much to say about something that is very old but we'll maintained and taken care of. My room was huge! I had a king room which was super clean and comfortable. I encourage travelers to book this hotel. You will not be disappointed

This hotel (Governor's in at 9826 Midlothian Turnpike) is very well built, decorated and maintained. European brown brick Castle style accented with cream and black bricks. Excellent architecture. Excess parking area, quiet, private. Excellent floor coverings, stately entrances, large suites with large windows and drapes. Overall simply flawless for the price. I have paid One and a half times elsewhere for less.

I loved the décor of the hotel, the woman at the front desk was courteous, the lobby was small but pleasing, the room was a good size and very clean. We had two queen size beds which was hard to find in other hotels. I enjoyed the out door pool. I would definitely go back again.

We had a horrible experience at the Best Western Plus during the Labor Day weekend. Honestly, the place was filthy & NOT COVID safe/approved. Over all we didn't feel safe about any aspect of the hotel. The hotel isn't in the greatest neighborhood either. I mentioned our concerns to the receptionist on duty and her lack of motivation to fix the problem was scary. This place is a waste of time and money!!! Just keep driving.

The most interesting part about this Best Western Plus is the design: it feels like you're in an old stone castle. Very cool to look at from the outside. If you're looking for a hotel right off I-95 to stop for the night while traveling, well this isn't it. The price was good for a Monday night in June but it's isolated away from a lot of restaurants and attractions in Richmond. The room was large but the air conditioner and the refrigerator were very loud - to the point that it was difficult to sleep. While the hot breakfast had been discontinued due to the pandemic, they made up for it the best they could with to-go breakfast bags in the lobby. Overall not a bad stay.

Appearance of building is nice and price is fair fr what you get. No frills, but that is all I wanted, simple check in and out. It's right on the main turnpike but set far enough back where you don't hear any traffic.

Very nice ,clean ,good location ,pool was nice and clean. the only problem was that my key card had to be reactivate every day. The people we're very helpful. I had a room in the anex building and was very happy with my experience. It was very quite .

We recently checked in at this location for what was initially suppose to be a 4 night stay. We arrived very late after a 10 hour drive exhausted and with a cranky toddler. At first appearance the place seemed average, however, upon entering our room as I began to wipe down surfaces with sanitizing wipes (which I always do) I noticed the large amount of debris and dust I was picking up. Moreover this room was advertised as a smoke free room but smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I also quickly realized the stains and grime on the walls and carpet. There was hair and debris on the bathroom floor and worst of all the shower was filthy. There was a yellow and brown stain around the toilet base. The stress of trying to make the room somewhat sanitary but also get my two year old to bed was overwhelming and in the least a MASSIVE INCONVENIENCE. If we were not so exhausted and it were not so late we would have left immediately! I have never seen such an unhygienic and filthy room, which we paid over $400 for. I ended up sleeping on beach towels the entire night. BEWARE of the false advertising on Hotels.com and Best Western as they are not accurate to the actual condition or cleanliness of the property. The next morning we packed everything up and I informed the receptionist of our experience and that I needed to speak to the manager on duty, she told me that the manger was not in. I explained to her that we needed to be refunded so that we could find another hotel since we would need to be in town for a few more days. At which point she said that I would have to contact Hotels.com and inform them of the situation and request the refund through them. She explained that she was confident her manger would refund us when the request was received. I let her know that I took many pictures as evidence of the deplorable condition of the room. She apologized and told me that she understands and I should leave a review. After spending over 3 hours either on hold or trying to reach a resolution with Hotels.com I am still waiting to receive an update as to whether or not I will receive the refund I was promised. The call representative from Hotels.com also proceeded to tell me that the hotel was responsible and in charge or processing refunds and took no responsibility for advertising and taking payment for a business that is certainly NOT being advertised as is. She also told me that she would transfer me to the hotel relocation department and they would relocate me at no charge. As I was waiting on the line the call was somehow terminated. Over 3 hours later I finally was able to speak to another agent and they denied this was possible and told me that there was nothing they could do until the hotel processes our refund which would be 3-5 days if they authorized the refund. I insisted on speaking with a manager and of course I was informed one was not available but would call me back within the hour. Well almost 8 hours later and no one has contacted me or sent any email indicating next steps or a resolution. THIS experience has nearly ruined our family trip and IS ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE!

Was very disappointed in the room we got considering the money I spent for one night I could have stayed home and had the same stuff and not spend money we were on the first floor no black out curtains anybody walk by they could see in so we didn't sleep no one was at the front desk to cancel our reservation

You can tell this hotel was quite impressive once. Now, it's very out dated. But this wasn't the big upset. Finding bug baits and a small rodent bait throughout our guest room was quite upsetting. Not quite the comfortable environment necessary for a peaceful night's sleep.

This was our second stay at the Governor's Inn, and we are beginning to think of it as our home whenever we are in the area. The staff are exceptional -- attentive to our needs, efficient, and friendly; The accommodations are clean and comfortable.

This belongs in our top 10 BW. Architecture reminds us of Colonial Williamsburg . Good size and clean rooms. Very friendly staff. Good grab and go bags.very reasonable cost . Will stay here again when we return to the area.

Governor's Inn, North Chesterfield in Virginia is a an elegant Hotel constructed in what it looks to be the ruins of a Brick Manor. Love the bricks stylea and arks details. Confortable beds and let me tell you the entrance will say watch out you are in a shady place But once you enter the property then your perspective change. The place become Elegant, Romantic, Charming.

The hotel was great. The pool could be reserved for just one room for an hour at a time. The room was cool, quiet, clean, and comfortable. But most importantly, Shawna at the front desk went above and beyond in her customer service!! :)

These are the pros of saying here: super-friendly and courteous desk staff, it's an older but unique and well-maintained property. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean and utilitarian. What makes it unique, as others reviews has mentioned is that it's brick exterior AND interior. Brick is an insulating material. During cold weather it's more effective to keep cold buildings warm. Unfortunately it also keeps warm rooms hot. Upon checking in at night, the AC was not on in my room. With temperatures in the 90s the room was insufferably hot. After cranking on the AC to maximum, it took a dreadfully long time to cool the room and it was difficult to get to sleep. It does cool down, and by the time I woke up the room was temperate. If they're not going to cool guest rooms down, you check in during the summertime, try to do so in early afternoon to let your room cool down.

This is a great place to stay. The desk clerk was very kind and greeted me every time I came in and wanted to make sure my stay was good. The housekeeping staff also dose a great job with cleaning the rooms. The rooms smell fresh and clean every time I walk in from work..

Just Like Home Every time I stay at this location; they greet me as if I have been away and finally have come back home. Smiles and pleasant swift professionalism. Breakfast is as though my Mom wanted to be sure that it was good and I'd had enough. Clean accommodations and most importantly a trustworthy housekeeping staff that answerers my every need. Just like home.

We were in Richmond for a fun and during health crisis. In many respects, we were glad the hotel was open. But, from the very beginning the service was uneven at best and downright lacking in several important areas. Upon arriving the front desk ignored us and since we were the only folks checking in they were downright rude and augmentative. It set the tone for our visit.

Great location for the entire west and south sides of Richmond. Very handy to the Powhite , midlothian, 288, and Chippenham. Very quiet , comfortable and reasonably priced. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Hotel was very clean with pretty architectural design. Parking was easy and accessible. Melissa working at the front desk is very helpful and friendly. She went above and beyond to ensure that we got our requested amenities. The reward system is a bit confusing and we are receiving different information regarding how to redeem our points.

We travel at least twice a year to VA and once to NY. Always choose Best Western. We are always pleased with the staff and service there. When staying in NY they have graciously allowed me to check in a bit early while my partner is at his conference.

This hotel served a great breakfast. The coffee was great, eggs, sausage, bacon were hot and tasty. The waffles were good. The rooms were clean but need an upgrade. The hallways looked great, loved the ambiance in the hallways. Again in the room, the shower curtain was torn in numerous places. The pole lamp needs to be replaced as it swayed from side to side. I will say the beds were very comfortable and we had a great nites sleep.

This was the second time we've stayed at this BW Plus. This breakfast is the best — lots of choices including 2 diy pancake irons ( one with a Mickey Mouse face), fresh made oatmeal, fresh fruit, eggs and sausage. Very nice staff and the rooms are clean and comfortable.

This hotel / staff continues to exceed my expectations. The rooms are always clean, staff has a smile on their faces and the hotel is located close to food services and shopping centers. I would definitely recommend this hotel while traveling.

I just spent 13 days at this hotel and I can highly recommend. First of all, I got there at night so it was a bit of a challenge to find the front door. Actually though, later on this is a plus, trust me. You also need to know that this hotel as 2 buildings. Unusual, but not a problem. For me, being there in the winter time it didn't matter that I was up in the main hotel without the outdoor pool. But if you want the pool, be sure to ask for that building. The buildings are all brick with stone accents inside. No, this place isn't new but it's unique and CLEAN! I was on the 3rd floor which is the top in room 301. It's a larger room than others I noticed, it's a huge room which was good since I was there almost 2 weeks. All of the staff are very helpful and most friendly I've ever seen. Sweet cleaning ladies, always smiling even though they didn't speak much english. I used their exercise room on 2nd floor, elevator was convenient and the stairs were right next to our room. Room had a fridge, microwave, desk, sofa, chair and dresser with great TV options. Breakfast was excellent and basically the regular fare found at most hotels. Miss Penny was constantly cleaning and was the friendliest person at the hotel. Breakfast choices was easy to make waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, gravy, biscuits, juices, cereals, milk, bagels, muffins, yoghurt, cream cheese, boiled eggs, fresh fruit! What more could you ask for?! Parking at the door and a shopping center next door close enough to walk. Center included Marshall's, Stein Mart, an excellent deli, Olive Garden and several other stores....right next door!!! Other shopping was within 5-10 minutes away with easy access. Huge mall included! Hotel sits back so is very quiet....nothing negative to say about this awesome hideaway. Try it, you'll love it too. I forgot to mention that me and my daughter spent Christmas there!

Every time I come to Richmond I want to stay in this hotel, love the decor, the staff, breakfast is always good with plenty to choose from and it starts at 6:00 am, the beds are real comfortable, just love it here

I will NOT stay at this facility because us lowly Corporate Lodging folks don't deserve points even though I am a senior and a veteran, that doesn't matter. If you are CLC stay away! This is a slap in the face.

I've never been disappointed staying at a Best Western. Excellent breakfast. Great service. Reasonable prices. There is an indoor pool, also. Cookies are available to taste-a nice little treat. Everything is done very well.

Our recent visit to the Best Western Plus Governor's Inn was one of he most relaxing stays at a motel/ hotel. The service people were kind and friendly. We have stayed at this Inn previously and this visit exceeded the previous visits. I would recommend this Inn to everyone.

This hotel is very nice. From the breakfast hostess to the maintenance crew they are perfect. My husband experienced chest pain while in the gym. I pushed the emergency button on the phone in our room, and every assistance that I needed was there for us. I was given a hospital rate when I had to stay two more days. Being far from home during a life altering event was made easier because of this great staff. Thank you.

My teenage daughter and a friend were staying with me for a field hockey showcase. The staff was friendly and kind to us and took very good care of our needs. The hotel was one of the cleanest Ive ever been in ( and I am in the hospitality business so that is really saying something)!

Simple and basic accommodations for a relaxing 2 night stay. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Nice decor, fabulous gym (didn't use this time). Two sour notes: the parked trucks in the lot next to hotel. Not a good look. The other was a more egregious offense: forcing breakfast diners to watch CNN in the morning. Horrible propaganda forced by the management. Local TV would be better.

So glad we chose t stay at the Best Western Plus Governor's Inn while we were visiting our son for Thanksgiving. We stayed in the main building. Loved the stone walls in the hallway. Very nice staff....they seemed happy and friendly. The room was extra large and had everything in there we could have wanted. TV, sofa (I think it was a pull out bed), fridge, micro, iron, blow dryer, nice shampoo/conditioner and body lotion and soap. Beds were very comfy and many pillows on each bed. Breakfast was delish. Very clean and kept up nicely. Great waffles, eggs, cereal, yogurt, etc.....We will definitely stay there again when in the area.

We enjoyed our stay. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Even calling on the phone was a pleasure. We liked the decor of the room and the exterior of the hotel is stunning, we didn't know it was the hotel because it looked that good.

The whole Staff went above and beyond , but Kim & Melissa exceeded even that. They truly made my stay a home away from home. I stayed almost 6 weeks for work and needed to use the business center and conference rooms from time to time. Both were always available and help was given at any time I asked. The breakfast was always fresh, hot, well maintained. My room always clean and kept in good repair. Needless to say, I would stay here again anytime.

My husband and I were attending a convention for Jehovah's Witnesses in Richmond, VA. This hotel was one of several recommended. When we called, rooms were available so we chose this one although never stayed there before. We were very delighted with our choice once we got there. The building itself is beautifully constructed inside and out. We had 2 queen beds and they were comfortable and the room was very clean. parking was easy and close. Access to shopping and restaurants were nearby and staff was extremely helpful in answering any and all of our questions. Breakfast was more than what we expected. food was fresh and plenty to go around.This hotel would be my first pick when we are going to be in the area again.

We had a great experience staying at this best western hotel. The rooms are huge, the hotel is very quiet with thick walls, there is a great breakfast, and I loved all of the stone and brickwork everywhere. Very unique hotel and it's also conveniently located with great restaurants around it. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Richmond!

Pros: 1. Beautiful lobby and architecture of the interior brick and stone walls 2. Great hot breakfast 3. Friendly staff Cons: 1. Small couch sized pillows were odd to sleep on 2. Sheer curtains at our window with black out curtains in front that stop mid-way make for a rather interesting/awkward night trying to remain incognito from the across the pond neighbors. Not to mention trying to sleep with the lights shining through the sheerness of the curtains was fun.

Traveling back home from Florida...never sure how far we will get before we need to call it a night...we have stayed at the BW in Hopewell VA twice with no problems, but when I called to they had no rooms...so the next BW was this one in Richmond which had 4.5 stars....are u kidding me...I've never been so grossed out in a hotel room before..I'm a platinum member with BW so I do travel a bit....if I wasn't so tired I think I would just left....we had room 247 in the second building...the hallway smelled of pot was the first clue that this was not looking good....there was more hairs in the room then on my head...the one bed had a big yellow stain on the mattress pad and hair and stains on the sheets like they had already been used before we got here. I don't want to sound too picky but I'm not into catching something from a dirty room....I'm hoping I can sleep but I will be letting the front know about this issue

From arriving to breakfast everything was great next time we are in the area we will stay there checking in was smooth and it was like being in a castle how the hotel is designed the room are spacious.

I highly recommend Best Western for any stay in or out of town....great hotel!! The service they provide is outstanding it is like home away from home .They provide great customer service through and through!!!

it took a bit to figure out how to drive off Midlothian to the hotel itself. Everything worked out well, especially since we didn't arrive till 1:00am. Breakfast was quite pleasant and ample. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

I selected this hotel based in photos of the lobby and the reviews. Don't let the pictures of the modern lobby fool you. Rooms are very dated. The walls are thin and I heard neighbors talking all night long. Back of the bathroom door was dirty, no extra blankets for bedding and comforter is flimsy. The light bulbs in the lamp next to the bed are too bright LED. Only one outlet in the bathroom. Drywall tape coming undone in my room. Building out back had very small rooms and very dark wood accented ceilings. I won't stray from Hampton again.

This is the aecond time we have stayed here! The staff is amazing, so friendly and accomodating. The rooms are clean and nicely done. The building is beautiful. We enjoyed the pool on both visits. It is very well kept.

Theis hotel was very clean! Great beds! The staff was so helpful! The breakfast was good and the dining area was very clean. We needed an extra night stay and were able to stay in the same room. We would definitely stay again!!

We used this hotel as a home base for a large family reunion.. I would like to praise the staff that helped make this weekend a memorable one for our family. Kim at the front desk checked us all in, which was not an easy feat because we all had reservations under each others' names. She was so professional in figuring it all out and getting us settled in. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and helpful (the housekeepers and the groundskeepers). The room (standard king) was clean and had a refrigerator and microwave. The air conditioner was very noisy and the shower had a slow drip. The bed was comfortable and there were lots of outlets. The wifi was fast. The breakfast options included eggs, sausages, make-your-own pancakes and waffles, fresh fruit and cereals. The pool was clean. There were some pool towels left on a table at the poolside but we did not know how to get more. The location is very good, close to the highway, with a lot of restaurants nearby. This hotel was a good value for the money. I would stay there again and I would recommend it to others.

Extra caring staff from the person at the front desk to the person handling the complimentary breakfast. The room was clean, although a little dark in the decor. Other than that, we had a great stay. The pool was beautiful, and we really enjoyed our evening swim.

We have not often stayed in Best Western properties, but in recent time we have found that there seems to be an upper tier of them with the brand name followed by "Plus" or "Premier" that are making us fans of the chain. This one located on the western outskirts of Richmond is an example. The hotel is very clean and far enough back from the Midlothian Tpke that it is very quiet. That road has a reasonable number restaurants and stores near by to meet you needs. For $117. not much more than a regular room, we booked a suite. It was very spacious and had a separate bed chamber. Each room had a TV. However, and unlike the picture, there was no door to that area. Generally, the room was well furnished, but they were a bit sparse. For example, a reading lamp next to the lounge chair would have been nice, as would have been a small table or two next to the sofa. One the plus side, we like that the shower/toilet were enclosed and separate from the the sink. The free breakfast was pretty standard for such meals. We had little interaction with the staff, but what there was was good..

We recently stayed at the Best Western Governors Inn for a 3-night hotel stay. We were given a room in the back building where they were housing numerous migrant workers. When we complained about the workers drinking on the curb outside the entrance to the back building and smoking pot in the hallways of the hotel the front desk was of little to no help. They came to the building and sprayed lysol but were not willing to move us to the front building claiming they were sold out. The drinking went on all throughout the day. Every which way you looked you could find empty beer containers. On several occasions the workers left the key entrance to the building propped open and could often be found lying on their hotel beds with their hotel doors wide open. After several complaints, the front desk officer finally moved us to front building for our final night stay. The hotel management was missing in action during our 3-day stay and never returned our calls. Kim at the front desk referred to the workers as the "Mexicans" and told us that she would speak to Miguel who is apparently the boss of the workers. In addition, there was construction being done on the rooftop of the front building where workers could be found late at night walking on top of the roof. There was a dumpster located adjacent to the hotel lobby which was overloaded with construction debris and alcohol containers. This hotel is by no means family friendly and the front desk employees were very unprofessional and uncaring.

We stayed here 4 nights for my sons swim competition. There were some definite pros and definite cons. The hotel has 2 buildings, and it seems you get a very different experience depending on which one you get. Overall, the hotel is more old fashioned, but everything was operational. PRO: The hotel room is very clean. The shower had plenty of hot water and great pressure. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly. The pool area was nice and clean. CONS: At the time we stayed, there was some construction/renovations going on in various parts of the hotel. It seems that the construction workers are staying at the hotel long term. They were staying at the building opposite my room, but they were often seen loitering outside, drinking in the parking lot, they were definitely smoking in the rooms (despite it being a no smoking hotel), and just hanging out in the hallways with all their rooms doors wide open. This was reported the front desk, but little changed. Bottom line, our stay was ok, but in the future I would probably look elsewhere.

Our stay was very nice. We came up for a weekend getaway. We had a king bed with jacuzzi; but did use the jacuzzi. The building is a old brick building and I am not sue it has always been a Best Western. We had an interior hallway entrance to our room and it was all brick. We did not hear a sound while we were in our room. We only a few minutes from downtown attractions so the location was in great spot.

Excellent hotel. Room were clean and had everything you would need. The staff at the hotel were the friendliest most helpful people I have ever seen. The rates were reasonable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

The decor, ammenities and breakfast are all first rate, but it's the managers that make this hotel amazing! After a long day of driving and visiting colleges, my daughter and I arrived to find that the AAA app had messed up our reservation. Shawna and Karina were able to give me a new room at the discounted rate and helped get me a refund on the old room. Really hope my daughter goes to school in the Richmond area. Look forward to staying with them again!

Very cool architecture throughout the building. Excellent, helpful staff. Fabulous shower water pressure and room cleanliness. Breakfast area was convenient, with much better than average coffee, but overall food quality was not wonderful. Our room was a standard with 2 queen beds and no couch and was adequate for us. But for 2 unrelated adults, business travelers, or a family of 2 or 3 reserving the same room for budgetary reasons, it would be inconvenient. It needs more towel racks, thicker, more absorbent towels, a luggage rack, and definitely another table surface.

Nice hotel a bit hard to find down the back of other places but there is a big sign at the entrance. Large rooms, free in room safe and the fridge is bigger than average with a separate freezer door. Had the pool to ourselves and it was lovely, clean water but there is no way you will find it from their instructions, go out the back and its in building B. Theres several building out the back NONE with any letters or numbers on them. On the 3rd attempt asking the front desk a staff member walked us to the pool. Unreal, a map handed out or a few simple signs would cure this. Management need a kick up the rear as it must be a pain going through this every day for the front staff. Staff were lovely, I recommend you stay here if passing I'm sure you will like it.

My family of 4, (Husband, self and 2 children), enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was unique, and my children thought they were in a castle. It doesn't look like the typical cookie-cutter hotel. It has brick archways. We enjoyed our stay here as we passed through Richmond, VA.

This was a second stay. It was great! Staff is so kind! Rooms are clean. The area is nice too. Didn't have time to use the pool either time I stayed. I recommend this hotel for sure... Its close to family.

Stayed at competitor in the past when in the area and this is a vast improvement. Clean with pleasant staff and handicap parking right in front of hotel - could maybe use another couple of spots. Only small issue is like most with "free" breakfast, the egg patties are not very appealing nor appetizing. Fresh scrambled eggs one day were a delight. This important for anyone trying to have a low carb high protein start for the day. Will definitely stay again.

Overall stay ok. Service was very good and accommodating, location convenient for our stay. Variety of food available at breakfast was good and always replenished so no one had to wait for food. Water pressure of showers was great.

One of the BEST hotel stays I've had over the last year. I used to be a Choice Hotel member, my last 15 night stays I've used Best Western Hotels and haven't been disappointed, the staff was great, the hotel was 5 star. I plan to use this hotel for each trip I take in this area.

Great hotel and staff very helpful. Room was very clean with plenty of space so we did not feel cramped. Whenever we travel to Richmond, which is usually a few times a year, we always stay at this hotel.

First impression when pulling into the property is “where is the front”? In fact we went to the wrong entrance...the front entrance is actually around the back! But, this is what is so nice about this property. It's tucked away and gives you a quiet stay (if that's what you like). It's also clean, neat both outside and inside. We all had a restful sleep. The hotel staff were all pleasant and welcoming. If you're looking in this area, I recommend this Best Western property.

This was the best nights rest we had while being on the road for work. We were graciously provided with an affordable suite thanks to the kind and caring efforts of Chauna. We both loved the brick and we had a window that opened up to an area that felt like a private balcony. Nicest elevator that we were in on the trip, it even smelled nice. Rob & Monika

I guess that since I am a hairy individual hotel sought fit to charge me with $150 fee because I had hair in my bed and bathroom. Highly insulted! This is a personal attack of one's being. Being attacked for a personal issue. Apology is expected!

This was our sixth stay at the Governor's Inn. We have seen it through a major remodel. The result is so beautiful. To be honest, I don't want to say too many nice things because it will be more difficult for me to get a reservation for my future stays.

Sign out front hard to spot. Had to call to get directions. The hotel itself was great to look at and great inside. The receptionist was excellent and parking more than ok. The band was a nice touch, but we needed more rest for a long day the next day to stay alert.We arrived about 5:30, went to dinner, came back around 7:30 and was not given option to have a room away fro band. I called down and was told the music would end about 11 but it extended to midnight.

Very clean, well kept hotel. The associates went out of their way to see to my every request. I enjoyed the hot breakfast variety, giving my business partners some relaxing time to plan for the day. I will certainly have my office book another stay.here.

Booked it because it was close to friends we were visiting. The outside of the hotel doesn't really look like a hotel. It was definitely an interesting look. The room we were given had just 1 king side bed and we needed two beds, but they changed that without a fuss. Front desk clerk was nice and efficient. Room was clean and well apportioned with a refrigerator, coffee maker, etc. There was a lounge downstairs that was loud, and we were concerned about the noise, but we didn't hear it in our room on the second floor. Overall a solid experience with a good price. Breakfast was a step above what you normally get.

The hotel was extremely clean and well decorated, and all the staff we had contact with were amazingly friendly. The breakfast was hot, yummy and ready on time. We would definitely stay here again when we we return!

Got a good rate from AAA that made this stay affordable versus their rack rate. Originally had us in a King room, and requested 2 double beds, which they accommodated promptly, by the very nice front desk clerk--who was both pleasant and helpful. We've stayed here before, and I like the quiet, being set back from the very busy Turnpike. The room was large, clean, comfortable and quiet. Only problem was the light controlled by the switch by the door as you entered didn't work, leaving you to enter a dark room in the evening, trying to find another light switch. My wife especially likes the sink & mirror outside the bathroom itself, with another counter and mirror inside the room with the tub and commode. Big refrig, and microzap. Comfortable work desk, light and outlets to plug in computer. Also liked a separate chair and lamp in the room corner for sitting & reading. Will stay here again when in Richmond, if can find another reasonable rate special.

This property is one of the most unusual looking place we've been to in a while. The decor looks like they were going for a colonial theme forty years ago, and it went a little over the top. The place is just dated, and the set-up with the two buildings surrounded by a plaza that seems somewhat empty is a head shaker. But, the people there are very friendly, the place is pretty clean, and breakfast is the typical Best Western fare. Our room was large, but there was a very odd hump in the floor. And the layout of the bathroom was a little weird. But it served it's purpose. We weren't displeased with our stay, but next time we are in the area we'll probably look for someplace else.

We checked in with Chauna at the front desk. She was friendly, efficient, professional, and fun! We asked for a non-adjoining room and she put us in 202-a very large and comfy room at the end of the hall. It has a fridge and microwave and a king bed. It has been remodeled and has a lovely decor and is very clean. WiFi works great! It is in a very good location for us and we will definitely return!

Clean room and quiet as I had to sleep during the day. Staff was friendly and helpful. They even recommended nearby restaurants to try out. I would highly recommend this establishment. Seriously I have to use 200 characters?3

We've stayed here several times, visiting my son in the area. Staff has always been ready to 'go beyond' to accommodate us, whether it's delivering extra towels late in the evening or updating our room for no extra cost. And Miss Penny is a wonder to watch zooming around fixing breakfast for the guests. Exercise room, pool, free breakfast, clean comfortable rooms, a knowledgeable staff at a moderate price.They all keep us coming back.

This BW Plus Governors Inn is set back off a very busy hwy. Beautiful exterior and interior. Quaint, lots of brick. The usual comfort and quality a Best Western is knownfor. Nice pool, nice lounge, great breakfast. It is a little hard to find the entrance offthe busy hwy, but once you get there you will love it. Close to everything & few short miles to all of Richmond's wonderful attractions. Love it!!

This hotel is in decent shape, but is very inconvenient. Elevator not working. Stayed in building not attached to main building. Key issues and had to drive back to office to get fixed several time. Staff was pleasant. Room needed updating.

I'm not sure "terrible" is what I would describe our stay as, but it's what pops up when you rate someplace with just one dot----an this motel was a definite "one-dotter" for us. Had there not been a couple of glaring issues. I might have gone 2 1/2 or possibly 3 dots. We traveled to Midlothian, Va. with another couple via an exhaustive day-long car trip from Michigan. We were visiting my daughter, my son-in-law, and his family------who all live in the area. This review includes a combination of a lot of other comments and opinions I gathered over our 2 1/2 day - 2 night stay. We chose this hotel per other review ratings, but our experience was not close to what we had come to expect. To start, you may notice the picture shows the pool backed up by the building. Our traveling partners actually brought swim suits but passed on the experience when they saw how green the water was.. At the least, if a pool is closed it should be covered. The hotel is a bit off from the main road and winds back into a kind of hidden location until you're right at the building. Upon arrival we were greeted with indifference which, personally I find off-putting---especially given the cost staying at this motel. We also saw four visible signs pointing out that the elevator was "out of order". As far as I can tell, the elevator was out of order during our entire stay there. Hopefully they've figured out how to fix it by now. However, lugging up our bags up and down from a second floor assignment was not something I found pleasant. During our stay my wife actually apologized on behalf of this hotel an elderly couple she met struggling in the stairwell. In our room (and it seem like a minor thing but pretty basic for a pricy motel room) our TV remote did not work. After several attempts we went to the desk and were given replacement batteries.. When that didn't work they gave us a whole new remote. That didn't work either so someone from the front desk actually came to the room. Nor could he make it work---- so he apologized and assured us that the next morning he'd have his maintenance person up to fix the problem. . The following morning we found they have a nice, efficiency-type breakfast area, bigger than most and more hot foot than most. Over breakfast, we learned from our traveling partners that their room had no electricity in the outlets in the bathroom area, but they were just too tired to mention it. Then, over dinner that evening my son-in-law and his mother, who live in the area, expressed surprise that we had picked this motel, but didn't want to be any more specific about it. Following dinner and upon arrival to our room the second night we found our remote still didn't work ---- probably because the "maintenance man" didn't show up I would image. So, we went an got another "new" remote. That one actually worked. On our second evening there the motel had, according to the people at the desk, "booked a last minute large wedding party in the ballroom". The noise from this event was very loud and permeated the entire building. The noise lasted well into the wee hours of the morning. At 2:30 a.m. I was awakened by few of their "revelers" laughing and carrying on in the hallway. The people we were traveling with mentioned that revelers had actually pounded on their door until one of them said "hey, we got the wrong room". I suppose the motel can't answer for the behavior or people who book events there, but it's indicative of what future travelers also might encounter. My last issue is with their heating and A/C units. Each room has one and they're by a thermostat. Ours clicked on and off generally about every half hour and when ours came on it actually made enough noise to drown out the TV? Until you get used to the racket it can make sleeping a little more challenging. So obviously, in short. we're not likely to be staying at this Best Western again. It was expensive. Now I wish I had asked for some kind of refund!.

Stopped here for an overnight stay as we were driving south. Very good value whilst still being decent quality. It was clean and warm and quiet, positioned close to an Olive Garden restaurant. Our A/C was non functional but that was minor issue.

This place is great...You will be treated very, very good...After 2 days it almost felt like home..I only live an hour and 10min away but its the first time i've been there..There is many things to see in Richmond...It is close to the zoo and many other things about history

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. We arrived early and had a lot of motorcycle gear to bring in. At check in Lionel was able to find us a room in the building that had the elevator. We waited for about 15 minutes for it to be cleaned but that was so problem. We enjoyed coffee in the lobby. Lionel personally checked the room to make sure it was easy for us. Big shout out to Lionel for great customer service. The room was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel was very clean and it was set back off the road so it was quiet. The lady in the breakfast cafe was super helpful and friendly. There were all kinds o breakfast options. This place was fantastic. I would definitely stay here again. Customer service is top notch.

Pros: The buildings were solid brick and beautifully done in the traditional Williamsburg style. Boulevard size hallways, swimming pool, fitness center and great staff especially Chandra (sp?) who greeted us with the warmest smile and made our check-in process effortless. The weekend staff was also very nice and helpful. Located within walking distance of shopping and restaurants made it extra nice. Cons: very very little. the location was off the street and was difficult to find initially, but one U turn and we were there. The bed in our room was a little tough, but the linens/pillows were great. The only vending or snacks was limited, but inexpensive

We always enjoy staying at the Governor's Inn when traveling through Richmond. Easy to get to. Good atmosphere and amenities. Cleanliness is good and the breakfast gets us back on the road with a satisfied start.

I used to love this place until they opened a club inside called Hidden Place. They take all the parking upfront, there's a lot of noice coming out of that room and not to mentioned people from club hanging outside the club making it unsafe for the people staying at the hotel.

I was here overnight for an all day meeting. The King-size bed is comfortable and I got a good night's sleep. The bathroom, though small, did the job and has a good shower (water pressure). The breakfast is good, especially since I like Maxwell coffee. A very quiet property and the staff are very pleasant & helpful. The property is nicely maintained.

I stayed a little over a week ago and never had the chance to right a review... I stayed here in the second building that they have (Which I thought it was cool that they had more than one building) on the first floor for 2 nights and the room was very clean and spacious, the bed was very comfortable! The housekeeper, his name was David and he was very nice and made sure we had a clean room every time we came back. We even came back to beautifully fold towels, once he folded 2 Swans and thought that was amazing. He gave us everything we needed without having to ask for it, and it made my stay that much better! The breakfast was great! Overall great stay!

For the money this is a great place to stay. Everything one needs is in room. Breakfast was excellent. Room well appointed. Had trouble with internet access, but I'm certain the problem was with my computer's software.

Restaurants, shopping, interstate; all within easy drive.Quiet location. No road noise. Have stayed here before and serivce was excellent both times.I 'm not going to type 200 characters. STuppid reguirement.

I stay here 2-3 times a year. Good breakfast with a lot of choices - healthy or not. The breakfast room attendant is always friendly and very conscientious about maintaining food quantities and cleanliness.

My stay at the Best Western Plus Governor's Inn was great. All staff was extremely nice. While checking in she pulled up my reservation and expressed how many points I would earn for my stay as a Best Western rewards member. The room was also clean and comfortable. Very reasonable price for a Saturday night. I would stay here again.

We stayed here one night on our way to Delaware and I had booked the room in advance because of the good reviews and the photos made it look charming with the brickwork. And the good news is that it looks just as charming in real life - especially the pool area. Breakfast was good, and the service was great. Every employee I met was friendly and accommodating. So why the low rating? Cleanliness. The first room we were given the door mechanism wasn't working. The second room we were given smelled so bad that even my husband (who's nose very rarely picks up on smells) even recoiled and was disgusted. It smelled like musty body odor. Finally, the third room was decent in that the door worked and there was no offensive body odor smell but there was a touch of mustiness still. Also the bathroom door had difficulty closing, had smudge/fingerprint marks on it and the bath tub had small spider corpses on the caulking. The original plan was to stay at this hotel on the way back too but nope! We wound up staying somewhere else.

During a recent visit to Virginia, I spent one night at the Best Western Plus Governor's Inn in Richmond. Despite this being an older property, it was my favorite hotel of our trip. The front desk clerk, Chauna, was so welcoming and the unique style of the hotel sets it apart from the usual chain properties. The room itself was spacious and spotless. The water in the shower was hot. The breakfast was wonderful. The dining room is large, and the food choices are plentiful. I had scrambled eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and muffins. They had fruit, cereal, and a variety of pastries available too. The breakfast attendant was attentive and friendly. She actually smiled at the guests too, which is much too rare these days. Disclaimer: I've seen a couple negative comments about the pool, but I did not have time to check that out. Helpful Hint: As previous reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is set off of the road and the new Best Western signs are a bit hard to see. Drive slowly when you're approaching and look for the maroon sign (it's a Best Western Plus so it isn't a blue sign).

Clean and comfortable hotel. Sets off the road so this a chance you might miss the driveway. Check-in was easy and Shawna was extremely nice, friendly, and a joy to work with. Hotel was also quite and good location to restaurants, shopping, etc. We will be back again if we need to stay overnight in that area.

Enjoyed the stay, nice room and staff. Would definitely book again at this hotel. Hotel was conveniently located so that trips to river walk, Shockoe, etc were only 15-20 minutes away. Eating places within walking distance.

First, let me start off by saying that the staff at this hotel were amazing. Each staff member was friendly and helpful. Several staff members went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant stay. Staff-5 stars! The room was average. You could tell it was a bit outdated, but for the price it was clean and spacious. The price was just right! The pool was dirty and looked like it needed some work. We had kids at the hotel and they would have used the pool if it had been in better condition and cleaner.

We've stayed in a number of $80 - $120/night hotels around Richmond. The BW Plus Governor's Inn is clearly the best. The room was spotless, the beds were made to naval standards and the shower was excellent. Breakfast was great and we left happy. If this location fits your time frame and budget, take it. The staff was friendly and cheerful. The location is set back from the road and the sign is low to the ground, so you might need your phones GPS to find out - but it's worth the effort. Also, the owner had a unique vision when he designed the buildings. Walk around and look down the various hallways.

The rooms were clean and spacious and they were a great price, it totally met our needs. The staff is friendly and helpful, the brick architecture really is a must see. Penny, the busser in the breakfast, was a great. She's so kind and helpful. Definitely great stay.

Wonderful hotel from the front desk person, Chauna, to the lady taking care of breakfast, Penny. Was pleasantly surprise how clean the hotel is. Yes the outside needs some repairs, but nothing major. The room was clean and spacious. Cable TV was great. plenty of channels. WIFI was great. Worked the whole time we were on. Asked for extra towels when we arrived and they gave a whole set. As an all around place to stay it was great. When we go back to Virginia it will be our first choice.

Staff is great, rooms are ok, property was let go at some point in the past and is in bad need of exterior maintenance and repair. For the money it would be very easy to find a property that has been kept up much better.

We originally picked this one on our way back from the south for the price. This Best Western was so clean and spacious. It was awesome. Breakfast and the area served in and the employee taking care of everything was spotless. Have recommended this and will continue to. We stayed in other hotels on our trip and this one was the best.

I booked this hotel through their customer care line because I had a reward coupon and I couldn't just show up and get the discount. It had to be booked on line or on the phone. Not very user friendly. The young lady on the phone was polite and helpful in as much as she could be. I asked her to find us a hotel near the l-95. She booked it, gave directions which sounded like it was close to the highway. It took us nearly a full 15 mins to get there. It's also back off the road and in a rather unfavourable part of town ( in my opinion ). The bright spot was the front desk clerk. She was friendly and helpful as well. So we get to our room and I immediately smell an odor like poop and see a small dark mound on the carpet near the bed. I go over and look down and it's moving!! A call downstairs got immediate attention and we were moved to a new room. Apparently it was a bug ( largest one we've ever seen ). Yuck. You know, we travel a lot and stay in many hotels at comparable prices. The last time we stayed in a best western we've been disappointed. Just as an example the pillows are small, like the size you would put on your couch and the toilettries were almost non existent. The staff are really the only thing going for them, at this time.

Came here for a soccer showcase in Richmond... brought 32 teenage girls with me! As you can imagine, I was a little worried for myself and the hotel! Chauna Jones at the front desk is AMAZING! She got us all sorted out, was so friendly and gave EXCELLENT local recommendations. The hotel was good, but she made it all the better! The rooms were clean and nice, breakfast was good in the morning and all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating! If we find ourselves back in Richmond next year, we will definitely be back. (Hotel management, Chauna is a total asset to your property!)

Room was large, clean, and comfortable. One night stay was rest full. Staff was pleasant. Breakfast waffle batter could be improved. Overall would return. The New Best Western Logo is something you can easily drive past without noticing. We did! Further from Richmond City than I anticipated.

My family came from New York, New Jersey, Georgia, Pennsylvania, to lay my Great Aunt to rest. The staff Corina, Chauna, Ms. Penny, and others (wish I knew all their names) was AMAZING...going out of their way to make us all feel comfortable. Thank you from The Hobson & Hughes Family.

PROS: wide parking spaces in a large lot; multiple lots as there are 2 buildings. The hallways for the rooms are HUGE. The décor and outside design is unique. The desk clerk was pleasant . adequate bright lighting in the room. Plenty of outlets, strong exhaust that can be turned off in the bathroom. Strong hot water in the shower. Close to a lot of restaurants. Great breakfast with perfectly cooked bacon, nestle orange juice and branded coffee. Everyone in the family was satisfied and impressed with the spread! Good insulation in the room- did not hear any noise from the rooms around us . Although there were some inconsiderate young males who were talking loudly in the hallway. I called the front desk and she came up 10 minutes later and had them move or return to the room. The hotel can't be held accountable for inconsiderate, mentally challenged individuals who like to loiter in the hallways and disturb other patrons who are trying to sleep. CONS: none so far.

Kind of hard to find from the road due to city limitations on signage, It is between a car wash and a restaurant look for a brick building with a small maroon BW sign. Check in was quick and the people were friendly and helpful. I like that you have to enter your rooms through a secured lobby. We were on the 3rd floor and barely heard anyone. Rooms are spacious and include a fridge and microwave. Internet works well and the rooms are well lit ( a pet peeve of mine is poor lighting) Breakfast had a good variety of cereal,yogurt,waffles,eggs and sausages and standard breads and fruits. We never saw a breakfast worker checking on things and we poured the last of the milk--- but other than that I would recommend this place for a good nights stay

Based on high rating & a great deal from bkg.com, this was a good choice. Room spacious for me n my son. Nice that the bathroom is separate from wash sink, such a practical and simple idea all hotels should have similar set up, so 2 persons can be doing their thing! Cable, room temp control, desk, outlets, larger than standard mini-fridge, bed firmness all good. Pillows tho way too soft! Good nite sleep and very good breakfast room with waffle maker, round disk shaped eggs and patties, no bacon which was fine, but hash brown patties nice change. Assorted muffins, mini bagels, English muffins, cereals, bananas good assortment. And the oj tasted like juice not like watered down orange drink. Coffee just ok. Long winded breakfast review but most places are so so, thus was good. Close to many eateries, shopping Aldi & upscale Aldi named LIDL, another recommended grocery store spot. All in all I'd recommend especially if you can get better rated here vs elsewhere.

I have stayed at this BWP twice recently. Arriving later in the evening, I have been greeted by Mark at the front desk who is an absolute joy for a weary traveler. He is a wonderful asset for this team. The rooms are clean and quiet. My second stay was a little disrupted by some later construction work going in the lobby as I was parking lot side but I was working late so not a real bother. The staff was accommodating to my expense requirements with rates and exemptions for Government travel. I definitely will return to this location when back in the area for work.

I was on my way home from North Carolina and I decided to stay here. I had paid with points and Carina was nice enough to give me an upgrade. She also answered all of my questions and explained everything really well and she was delightful. And Mark was awesome as well. He was cheerful and energetic and very helpful with directions and suggesting places to eat. This hotel was old fashioned and the decor and structure was phenomenal. And the room was clean and comfortable. I'm very satisfied with the staff and the hotel. I will definitely stay here again

Room was fine as was the service. The location is behind some other businesses and although the parking lot is lit, the safety of the parking and location was something that made me feel only slightly uneasy. Probably also because I was not familiar with the area.

Hotel is beautiful and staff is extremely friendly. Close to everything but still a quiet hotel. It is tucked behind the main road - making it a little difficult to find. The breakfast was good and the gentleman kept the dining facility clean throughout serving hours. One improvement could be the beds, they are very soft if you're not used to that.

I picked the hotel on the road to break our trip from Maine to Florida. Best Western Is usually good value, comfortable if not fancy accommodations, and the Governor's Inn did not disappoint. I love the stone façade, so different from the generic boxes of today. Inside, Mark at the desk was incredibly cheerful and welcoming and he helped me get my Best Western membership straightened out. The room was quite large, plenty of room for two road warriors to walk around without bumping into each other. The bed was very comfortable, and I always like it when the sink is outside the shower room so that I can primp while he steams up the shower room. At breakfast, Penny was very attentive, the room was spotless and there was only one large TV so if you wanted to watch it you could, but you could also have a quiet corner for conversation. Very pleasant one night stay, good value, I would definitely stay again.

Cool looking hotel, like a castle. Nice lobby. Caring front desk staff, specifically Mark. Comfortable room and beds. I would prefer the two sheet system for the bed instead of the bedspread they use here. However, at least the bedspread is white, so if it is dirty it will show it. The room internet is complimentary, although sometimes it was slow. Complimentary breakfast, which is the typical hot breakfast these type of mid-range hotels offer. At the lobby they keep 24/7 a coffee carafe with complimentary coffee. It will be nice if they also offered complimentary tea at the lobby. There is an outdoor seasonal pool, but no indoor pool. There is a fitness room, with basic equipment, nothing that stands out. Free parking. Hotel is located near all the restaurants, easy accesible from the main street. Overall, it was a GOOD experience. However, I have stayed at hotels of these category for about the same price, or less, and with better rooms, tastier breakfast, with an indoor pool, and nicer fitness room.

While its not glitz-n-glamour it has a distinct old-time charm with its brick build. Alittle hard to find off the main road - you have to be looking for it since its set back off the road a bit. However once there its nice charming lobby - leads to nice comfortable rooms. Felt very safe and comfortable even most of the trip I was traveling alone. Desk was helpful and cordial. While you can find more elaborate hotels I found this hotel to be excellent for the need we needed and would defiantly not hesitate to stay again. Very close to shops and the Hospital - which was the cause of our stay.

This hotel is located between a car wash and restaurant. So you have to look carefully for the BW hotel sign. Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised! I was greeted by Mark at the desk who was pleasant, smiled, and FRIENDLY! A characteristic that's hard to find anymore at most hotel chains. The guestroom was huge and clean! Breakfast was plentiful and the young lady made sure the foods were hot and replenished! A definite YES in my opinion and look forward to visiting again when in the Richmond area!

The best Best Western I have ever stayed. The room is clean, and the check-in place and hall are cozy. Very special brick & stone structurer, interior and exterior, offers the feeling of staying in a European-style vacation property. Breakfast is fantastic, much better than those provided by many 4-star and 5-star hotels.

Nice older place to stay at while visiting friends in the area. We got a suite in the main building and it was well loved, but well maintained. Beds are a little soft, but still very comfortable; the TV reception both rooms were not functioning correctly and we were missing a remote. Internet is fast enough - 4 down/0.5 up. The hot breakfast was great and the staff is very responsive and polite.

By far this location is hands down our perfect place. You are near a lot of shopping yet not so overwhelmed with Richmond. Lori (GM)is always friendly and helpful just like Carina her Daily front desk. We love this place so much that it's our go to get away. This place is very grander in its appearance,I can tell it was once quite a view but the solid build makes it quiet, private and relaxing. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Come stay a weekend and enjoy all the shopping...

We were so surprised and pleased how much we enjoyed the Governor's Inn. The staff was above excellent - very professional, happy, pleasant, helpful and great. When we checked in, we were welcomed like we were family. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast staff was very gracious and had an excellent variety of food options. We would definitely stay there again.

More than comfortable rooms in a quiet location, yet close to all amenities. Excellent service reasonable rates. The Governor's Inn met and exceeded all my expectations. The staff presented professionally and politely. Definitely would return. My only criticism would be to advise them to freshen up their breakfast with fresh baked items and non-packaged entrees.

Had a nice comfortable room, everything was nice and clean. We rented one of the suites, for some extra space, and even though it was right next to the elevators, which were a little noisy, we never heard them at all. Check in and check out went seamless and quick. Being able to make your own pancakes or waffles for a self serve breakfast was a novel idea and were tasty. There was plenty of places to eat and places to shop nearby also.

We have stayed in this motel a couple of times and it has always been a pleasure- very well located for stores - quite area, staff is very helpful and nice, breakfast area was very clean and well stocked with different items to eat. Would recommend this hotel to other.

Stayed here due to the high cost of other Hotels in the area, But you get what you pay for. We were placed in their second building. Hallways had a food smell with heavy spices. Room was musty and smelled of mold. Room was either too hot or too cold. Bed sheets smelled musty also, so we had the staff change them. Use as a budget hotel, but don't expect great facilities.

There were Issues with the TV, phone and lighting within the room. The phone was not connected and did not work. The lights flickered constantly through the night while off and the TV would turn off when the refrigerator kicked on. Location is convienent.

This was our first stay at the Best Western Plus Governor's Inn, Richmond, VA. We usually stay at another hotel in the area when visiting family in Richmond, but the rate offered by the Governor's Inn for the Thanksgiving time was much better, so decided to give it a try. Since I walk with a cane and have trouble going up and down stairs, we contacted the hotel in advance and asked to be assigned a room in the lobby building with the elevator. The person I spoke to said that would be no problem and took care of the situation - we got a room right near the elevator on the second floor. The room itself was quite large and very comfortable and quiet, with a comfortable bed. Lighting in the bathroom area was bright, which is very much appreciated (many hotels do not have good lighting in the bathroom) and there was a fan in the shower area to help remove moisture from the room. The breakfast area was very attractive, with carpeting in the tables area and even a fireplace. The breakfast selections were good and the staff in the breakfast area very attentive and kept the place neat and clean. We will definitely consider staying here the next time we travel to the Richmond area.

We stayed here for a tournament at the River City Sports Complex. It was about 15 minutes away. The hotel has 2 buildings. The main building seems recently renovated. The second building where we stayed was clean but tired. The room was very small with full size beds. The one thing that I didn't like was the odd smell in the hallway. When u walk into the second building it always smelled like curry or tortillas cooking even though the food was in the other building. I'm not sure if there are apartments in there. The decor needs refreshing. Also the sheets smelled a bit mildewed like they were left in the washer overnight. It was convenient to shopping , restaurants, and the sports complex. It was a decent price and felt clean. I would call this slightly less than a Hampton but not bad

This is an older hotel but don't let that fool you, The hotel is very clean. The bed linens are good quality. Very comfortable. The shower was great. The in room wifi was excellent. The staff very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the quiet and peaceful location.

Hotel and staff are perfect!! Little sad there was no indoor pool but the room was big enough that you didn't feel like you were stuffed in. The room was clean. We were in the other building which was a little hard for my husband with no elevator and he just had both knees replaced. But overall it was a good stay.

Came into town for a lacrosse tournament. We stayed here last year and had a great experience so booked a room here again. We were not disappointed. I am about as picky as you can get-I want clean, quiet, and comfortable- a home away from home experience. It's not fancy but has everything we wanted. Last year we stayed in the queen suite. This year we had the king suite. Both rooms were very spacious with the conveniences we needed. We brought an air mattress and, with the pullout couch bed, everyone had their own bed. The boys stayed in the “living room” and we had the bedroom to ourselves. Be aware the king suite is above a party room. We could hear everything! We were fortunate the party ended at 7pm. The hotel breakfast has a nice selection-filled our boys with enough substance to keep them full when playing lacrosse. The staff was friendly and helpful-a big shout out to Mark who always has a smile on his face and was very patient with me. Stein Mart, AC Moore, Marshall's and other stores and restaurants are an easy 5 minutes walk behind the hotel-very convenient! Will definitely stay here again next year!

My husband and I recently stayed here. Since my husband is somewhat handicapped, we requested a handicapped accessible room near the elevator. When we got there, they had saved us one right beside it. The staff was wonderful. One of them even helped me assist my husband up from the lobby sofa. They were so nice about everything. We enjoyed our stay.

The room appearance was nice. However the freshener smell was overwhelming and gave me a headache. The bathroom appeared clean till my kids took a bath- there was mildew. In some places it looked like they had tried to caulk over it rather than clean it (around the faucet and soap holder). The t.v. keep going off every time the fridge came on/went off and the volume would randomly raise and lower its self. I told the front desk lady. She was very nice but they couldn't do anything that night about the t.v. (which didn't help me as that was the only night I was staying). I liked that it had a fridge and microwave in the room. Overall, I just didn't feel it was worth the cost with all the issues.

I stayed at this Best Western with my family. The room was recently cleaned and a good size, plenty of space for the four of us. The breakfast was well done with lots of options for everyone: eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, waffles, cereal, fruit, baked goods. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. As a side note, it would be great to see the hotel make the environmentally friendly switch from styrofoam plates, cups, and plastic wear to at least paper, and even better, reusable plates, cups, and silverware. I recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the area.

We stayed 1 night only, but overall our stay was great! The front desk person was very polite and accommodating. The room was nicely designed, the beds very comfortable. The breakfast was great too! Great variety of things to choose from. I also loved the premises and the construction of the hotel itself. Everything looked beautiful! I would love to stay there again.

When I travel for work one of the main things I count on from my hotel is comfort and the ability to sleep. This hotel is clean, unique and well appointed. The hotel is two separate buildings and my room was not in the main building where the check in and main lobby are. The problem is I can not sleep here. I can hear people in adjacent rooms snore like they are in the room with me. I can hear other people's phone conversations as if they were sitting next to me. The bed it wore out and the pillows (all 5 of them) have also exceeded their service life IMO.

I stayed here for one night with my wife and two small children. I chose this location after reading the very good reviews and the low price which was available for the Saturday evening I was looking for. Here is a summary of my stay: Hospitality: A+. Many reviewers mention the great staff, from Mark at the front desk to the staff running the breakfast, the staff was excellent. Room: The room was clean enough but the A/C system was not working properly and couldn't maintain the correct temperature. The room is dated but adequate for the price we paid. The best was comfortable but the pillows were lumpy. Area: This is why I can't recommend this hotel. The area is not very good. I knew that before I booked, the Midlothian area is not nice. When you stay in a not nice area, the other people also staying at the hotel might not be nice either. When we tried to sleep around 10:00pm, I could hear booming music. I thought it was coming from the dance event on the first floor but when I left the room to go talk to the front desk, I realized it was coming from the room next to me. I asked the front desk just to allow me to change to another room but instead they insisted on knocking on the door and telling the guests to turn down the music. I knew that this would result in issues as the entire night at random moments the people would beside us would start banging on the wall. Obviously, they wanted to make a point that they were not happy we complained. All night long. And at 2:30am, it seems like people checked into the other room next to us and it was obvious they had just come back from a night of partying. They were so loud for the next hour. It was a horrible night and my wife insisted I never book another room based on price. The hotel staff is excellent, but they are not enough to overcome the seedy area where the hotel is located. If you must stay in Midlothian, I guess this place is adequate, but otherwise, stay in Downtown Richmond or Airport area for a nicer location.

Exceeded our every expectation! Very clean, loved the architecture, best continental breakfast that we have ever had! Food was kept hot, all of the trays were always full and they had SO many choices!

This was my second stay at this hotel. Both times the hotel was clean, the breakfast delicious, and the staff top-notch! Mark was the welcoming smile that checked us in and even got us a room upgrade! I highly recommend this hotel, not only for its great staff but also convenient location.

The hotel front desk staff was very nice and professional. Plenty of parking, free breakfast, Directv and I had a nice size room (Could use new carpet). The only real issue I had was that the room smelled badly of smoke (Non Smoking Room) and the smell never went away during my 2 night stay. This might have been limited to the room I was staying in, but the cleaning staff should have fixed the smell before renting the room out as there is no way they could not have noticed it.

Our family booked this hotel based on availability, location, and price. I have not stayed in a Best Western in over 20 years, and I travel a lot. We arrived around 8:15pm for a one night stay as a stopover on a road trip. We were not comfortable with the location, as it seemed unsafe. We checked in, and strangely, they run your credit card through a terminal before you ever see your room. I thought this was odd, but went along with it. After riding the unstable elevator to our rooms, we all detected a foul odor in both the hallways and the rooms, and two of our family members started sneezing and coughing. At this point we decided to find another hotel, half an hour out of our way. It was that bad. We tried to get a refund at the front desk, but had to call the employee back inside from smoking a cigarette right outside the front door. We were not impressed. He was unable to reverse the charge to our credit card, and we had to call the credit card company to resolve the dispute. We quickly made a reservation across town and happily drove to another hotel at which we had a fabulous experience for less money. I'm not sure why this hotel has received such high marks, as it is not worth it for this price point.

This hotel wasn't easy to find since it's not right next to the road. And when you get there, it doesn't look like a regular hotel: it's got old timey brick work and wood paneling. We were unsure what they were trying to portray. Mark - who worked the front desk - was very friendly and doing an excellent job making us feel welcome. He explained where our room was in an another building where we found more retro brickwork and wood on the ceiling. Nevertheless, that room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We also had a very decent shower and a choice of pillows. Only the a/c was a bit on the noisy side. To get some coffee or when you go to the breakfast room, you have to really find your way through the main building, incl. an elevator ride. Oh well, (hot) breakfast was really decent and the lady there was constantly keeping the food stocked and the room clean. It was a good experience, but it'll be so much better if they lose that strange decor.

We thought this might be an historical hotel, however it wasn't. There is beautiful brick work both in and outside the hotel. Our room was large, clean and decorated nicely. Breakfast was pretty much as expected.

This hotel is a "minus" rather than a plus. On check in there was no local map available, until the receptionist found one in a brochure. Then, she had difficulty marking the hotel on the map, not a good start. We found the hotel dark and dingy. Breakfast was OK.

This hotel is made of bricks: it is a very unique hotel that layout suggests you are in a castle. The halls are wide and made up of brick and stone. The rooms are huge and spacious almost to the point of being ridiculous. The staff were some of the friendliest people I have met and I was happy with my stay. The hotel is located away from the main road so it seems quiet but that also kind of made it hard to find.

This hotel was a great value and very nice. The one drawback was noise. The rooms was a little noisy and you could hear when someone took a shower in a nearby room. However the bed was comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. Very nice hotel

The hotel is a great place to stay! The only problem I had was the Friday morning breakfast. Since Penny was off that day, the breakfast was horrible! Had to wait for the food to come out, when the breakfast attendant brought out the food. The sausage was cold, never seen the hash browns. The only hot food was the eggs. Had to go eat somewhere else.

the couple working the breakfast area were caring, set up a great presentation, were always making sure guest were happy and taken care of, kept the area spotless. The staff at the BW were all pleasant, thus the reason the 6 of us came back and stayed while attending the NASCAR race.

This Best Western had excellent service and value for the money. Everyone were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Richmond area. NASCAR had there night race here this weekend and alot of the vistors were race fans. Great group of people.

The staff was awesome. Every employee has a smile and a willingness to help. I felt like I was with family. The hotel is older, but it has character and is an unique location. It was very quiet and peaceful. I would stay again.

Whenever I'm in the Richmond area I always stay at the Best Western (Governors Inn) Plus on Midlothian Tpke. The service is always pleasant and very professional. The rooms are always spacious and comfortable. The location is ideal right off of the main thoroughfare, and there are plenty of choices in the area when it comes to dining.

Hotel staff was extreamly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was cooked on site. Full breakfast served each day. Rooms were clean could use a little updating. Location is a little hidden behind a car wash. There are several buildings with rooms. A little disapointing that it did not have an indoor pool.

We stayed here twice in two weeks. We were attending a 100th birthday party for my mother in law with my four daughters and their partners plus grandchildren so quite a diverse group. This hotel fitted the bill and the staff were always willing to please with any requests. Mark, behind the desk was always cheerful and Penny in the breakfast area was alway buzzing around making sure breakfast food was always topped up and areas cleaned and ready for newcomers. My only gripe would be that housekeeping were slow to service the rooms and gave presidence to rooms for incoming guested - meaning our rooms were done at 5pm onwards thus inconvenient for getting changed for the evening. Nethertheless, the ladies did a good job at cleaning and I believe they were short staffed the days we were there. Nice little gym and the pool area was great and always clean. Beds very comfortable. A laundry area for guested would have been useful.

Stayed here while working in the area. Very comfortable rooms, some with exposed brick and support beams this is a very homely addition. The staff is very friendly and provide a excellent breakfast. Great stay

This is the second time I've stayed here, and must say I am in love with this place! First of all, the outside appearance is gorgeous and very unique... unlike many hotels, which is what initially drew me to it. The interior doesn't disappoint at all - very cozy and warm decor, spotless and clean-smelling, and the rooms are what you would expect at a Best Western. Staff is very friendly, the breakfast area is spotless and the food is fresh and delicious! I would recommend to anybody staying in this area or passing through. To me, this is a luxury accommodation at an affordable price!!

I can't emphasize enough how amazing the service was when we were greeted! Chauna at the front desk was so welcoming and accommodating that i felt compelled to write this interview. People have complained about the decor being outdated but, I believe this hotel is trying to maintain the history of this building. I would definitely return! Also, if you check in and have Chauna at the front desk, you are in fro a real treat!

Have stayed at this hotel before-that is why we keep coming back .Have never had any problems at all. Very clean and very good service! Close to popular eateries, malls, and antique shops. parks and even a hospital if needed.

Not Good location the sign to the entrance was un-noticeable. Outdated décor, and the smell of mill dew in the area. The heavy carpeting needs to be updated with wood floors in the hallways. The pullout bed was so dirty with stains on the sheets! YUKS!! The hotel supplied towels for 3 people but soap for 1 person. We left the room at 1pm and it was never cleaned. No fresh towels, no replenishing the soap and no garbage taken out. Nobody bothered to return and clean up the room. The staff was too unprofessional arguing with customer in front of me and others! There dress attire was extremely messy, tightfitting jeans, dirty shirts, sitting out front with customers, and joining in conversations. Just messy!! Unprofessional Staff

I spent a very pleasant few days at the Governor's Inn - the reception staff were great and my room was spacious, suitably equipped and kept clean. No restaurant on site but some good places to eat nearby. Plenty of parking space. I was touring the Richmond Civil War Battlefields and this proved to be the perfect place to base myself. The only issue I have is - throw-away paper plates and cups at breakfast! But, this is something that seems prevalent at some US hotels and a small price to pay for a really good establishment.

Richmond is a place to visit if you either have business or a specific reason to go. This hotel would be fine for either. But don't bother with Richmond as a tourist stop. Stay on the interstate and go to Petersburg or Fredericksburg.

I had a good stay here. Check in was a little slow due to a glitch with the computer but otherwise it was okay. It's an older hotel but the room was clean. In addition, there was a microwave and refrigerator which is convenient. The AC was a bit loud but it worked! Complimentary breakfast, free parking and a copy of USA Today!

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The front desk people were super nice and helpful! The rooms were roomy and clean and I slept great! The free breakfast was good with both hot foods, cereals, yogurt, fruit and a selection of pastries. You could also fix yourself waffles if you wanted. Of course there were the usual coffee, juices and ice water to drink. The hotel is a little quirky in the way it is laid out. There are two different buildings with a parking lot in between. The lobby in which to check in is actually the 2nd building (at the bottom of the small hill.) The lobby building is the only one to have an elevator. The first building you pass going down the hill doesn't have and elevator so a person has to deal with steps. I stayed in the building at the bottom with the elevator. Another thing that can be a problem is there isn't a large sign for you to see when you are trying to locate the hotel at first. Fact is, you actually turn down beside of a car wash. I wish I could remember the name of the car wash.

The hotel is nice, the pool is big enough and the TV channel choices are nice. The AC is quite noisy and the rooms look clean. we lost our card and the staff did the required steps to verify our identity in order to provide us a new one

This hotel had an interesting, castle-like vibe. The location was perfect for getting to all of Richmond's hotspots. The pool area was nice, but the floor of the pool was not the cleanest. Breakfast was mediocre and beds were soft and uncomfortable. All that being said, the price was good and if the beds were replaced we would stay there again.

Excellent location for activities in the area and a much better price with breakfast and parking included. Love the decor with the brick inside and out. Perfect staff the entire time. Pool, business center, excercise areas were all very nice and convenient.

Excellent option, about 15 minutes from the city (as long as you're okay with toll roads). Super friendly staff, happy to answer questions about the area and recommend local digs. Simple rooms, comfy beds, AC and fridge worked great (despite the felt-like 107 degree weather). Bathroom / shower are separate from sink area (great for multiple people getting ready)

Helpful staff, good breakfast, we had a fine stay. I found the bed too soft, but the Goldilocks in you may find it just right. Breakfast had the usual items plus. We enjoyed the yogurt toppings. No problems, fair value, enjoyed stay.

This is our 3rd time staying here & it is wonderful. The front desk clerk Chulta ( think that might be right ) was so accommodating. She was able to get us into our room early, which was very much appreciated after a long drive. This hotel has one of the best breakfast I have had. Far better than some of the higher priced hotels( if they even have breakfast! ) The person in charge of the breakfast is very friendly & seems to really enjoy what he does. Hotel is in a perfect location for our travels. The rooms are clean , the beds comfy. If you are in the area for any reason, this is the place to stay.

This Hotel was one of the best. From Breakfast to the Pool accommodations it was wonderful. Staff was very friendly but, professional and was willing to help to make sure we were comfortable. I can't say I have anything to complain about except the fact that now I'm going to be finding reasons to stay in Richmond, VA!!!

Excellent, it's tucked away, I passed the entrance 3 times so perhaps a bigger sign. The only issue I had was the shower leaked a bit, but I threw a towel on it. The bed was comfortable, I had an end room, it was very quiet.

Pleasing design. Everything just worked except the internet which was usually adequate but flaky. Free breakfast was standard and managed perfectly. Not very visible from the road, set back enough to reduce noise. Pool and fitness room are small. Internet connection adequate for light use. On the whole, excellent.

The staff here was welcoming and wonderful to guests. Mark was great! Breakfast was hot and delicious, varied every day. The pool appeared clean and was never overcrowded like some places. Rooms were clean, too, with exception of the curtains (but who cleans curtains frequently anyway?) We will definitely stay here again in the future when visiting the area.

We were greeted by wonderfully friendly and helpful receptionist upon check in. Love the red brick architecture all around the hotel. Room rate is reasonable and for the price paid, we got a big nice room with a huge selection of TV channels. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, nice room with great service to match! Glad to have found this stopover on our road trip, we were satisfied guests!

Four night stay for a wedding. Booking was easy. We had a lovely ground floor room. Breakfast was the average for BW and most of the chains. We found the exterior brick steps had the potential to be hazardous when it was raining. We loved the detached wing of rooms, but inconvenient in the rain to get to breakfast and main lobby. The room was clean and inviting - then they blew it - they did not clean at all on the last night of our stay and we were out of the room almost all day. There was no compensation offered - very disappointing. In room safe was nice. Good location and convenient to local restaurants. Staff was always polite. Too bad Customer Service was not more accommodating for failing to provide a service that we paid for - cleaning!

Nice hotel, we had a suite room for a good price, friendly helpful staff, nice pool, needs a hot tub, good location, comfortable king bed, needs a memory foam mattress for sleep sofa, we would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at Best Western Plus Governor's Inn very much. The front desk staff made us feel very much at home. We interfaced with Chauna, at the front desk several times and she was always cheerful and helpful. The bountiful breakfast prepared by Miss Penny assisted by Larry certainly energized us for our busy day. We would like to thank the gracious Southern hospitality displayed by the staff.

Would definitely stay here again. The breakfast great, even had some hot foods like waffles, sausage gravy, bacon,eggs, varied a little each day. The pool was very clean. The place had character! Everywhere was clean, all the staff was very accommodating and pleasant. Room had frig., microwave, coffee maker. We had a suite that was very large, 2 televisions, wet bar area, just lots of room.

My Mom has a lot of health issues; she lives far away. So, when her appointments are here I will rent her a hotel room close to me to ensure she is most comfortable. I like this Best Western because they offer a reasonable hospital room rate for people like Mom. And, some of the room are very large. It smells clean when you walk in and I think for the most part it is a clean facility; but, sometimes guests (I and my Mom's super sensitive eyes) will catch something that appears to have been overlooked for a long time. For example, outside the window for Room 316 (not sure how) there is a pile of cigarette buds. Mom has asthma; so, no. The tubs are clean but you can see that detail to cleanliness is missing since there some unclean spots. Our overall experiences are very good, however. An example of this just happened this week; for whatever reason, the key would not unlock the door. I did not want to move Mom; she'd just had a procedure and wasn't feeling good. But, the hotel clerk stated that we had to move since the locked door with no access (even her hotel key failed to work) could be a safety hazard. I was not happy! We made an agreement that I would only move Mom if we got the Jacuzzi room on the 1st floor; and we did. It was wonderful! That room is super quiet and is gigantic; it has a pull out sofa and enough space to place over several (or more) air mattress. The tub was enormous. We were very comfortable. And, we were right off the kitchen. Their free breakfast is incredible; you can make your own waffles. They have cereal, juices, milk, coffee, bacon, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, nuts, toast, biscuits (with/without gravy), pastry, muffins, grits, and fruit. All hot foods are hot! It tastes good too. It was very easy to communicate with the hotel clerk who in turn did an awesome job communicating to her off duty supervisor about our needs. I expected to be given a hard time and a big fight; but nope. Thankfully!

This hotel was difficult to locate and when I did find it, the room was not very clean, the Wi-Fi did not work most of the time and the TV remote was dead. No staff checked the room during my entire stay.

We have stayed here many times. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and the breakfast is great. The property sits behind a car wash and is a little hard to find the first time. Watch out for the dip in the pavement when you enter off the roadway.

Not sure if this hotel is just old and remodeled, or made to look old. Either wat the atmosphere was great. Rooms were cute and clean, bed was very comfortable. Only complaint was the walls are VERY thin. The people next door were having some sort of party/gathering and had to complain multiple times. Hate it when hotels do nothing to buffer sound.

This is a great place to stay and a great price. The breakfeast is free and it is awsome. The rooms are very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. We have stayed here a few times throughout out the years and this is the best deal in the Richmond area. I highly recommend this hotel.

Clean but awkward setup...lobby is at very back of property in another building. There is NO elevator and lugging 50lbs of luggage upstairs is not my idea of a good time. Small rooms with paper thin walls. We checked in at 12:30 am so it was too late to get out of a night here. They also do not tell you that there is no elevator...you find that out on the search for your room...they also didn't tell us what building our room is so we had a midnight tour...never again

The infrastructure of this hotel is not good compounded by an indifferent management team. Main problem was noise. The sound proofing is non-existent. I swear the hallways magnify the sound. We were on the second floor and there is a meeting room that they rent out. Problem is that attendees congregate in the hallway before the meeting and before we were hoping to get up. I thought we would be OK once weekend came but they have a big party room downstairs and a number of the partiers were staying at the hotel. So from midnight to 3:30 AM we had a rolling afterparty on our floor. Even earplugs did not help. No monitoring or help from the front desk. Air conditioner was loud when it cycled but ironically when there is noise in the hallway you like for it to be on so it drowns out some of the noise. Cycling air conditioner also knocks out the TV momentarily - yikes. Went to front desk to complain several times without effect despite promise that manager would call. Several times no one was even at the front desk. Otherwise this is a typical BW. Rooms are OK and breakfast probably better than most. With that said - stay someplace else if you like your sleep - lots of options. If you must stay insist on a third floor room.

While the rooms are clean and adequate, and the discount rate of $80 (plus) is fair, there are a few quibbles. First, as it is well south of downtown, it is not a great location. There is nothing much of interest in the local area. I would pay more to be in and around Short Pump or in the in-town neighborhoods next time. Second, the free breakfast is dredful. One can get yogurt that is a branded product, and the muffins are decent enough. But I am mystified as to what materials comprise these faux scrambled eggs. Not much real egg, if any, I assure you. They are bland in texture and flavorless--insipid, I am inclined to say. Worse yet is the paper-thin bacon. Like the eggs, the bacon is virtually devoid of flavor. It is, of course, microwaved, as nothing that thin could ever be scrapped off a grill. But it was quickly scrapped off my paper plate into the trash bin. This dreadful fare seems to be de'riguer in free-breakfast hotels these days, as I was confronted with precisely the same "schmag" at a Hampton Inn a week later. Stay elsewhere, have breakfast at Waffle House.

Real cool decor. Very unique. Service was good breakfast was great. The negative reviews seem to all mention a major event like swim team or soccer team selling the place out. If no such event is going on then You won't be disappointed.

Overall very nice hotel. The sign needs to be more visible from the busy street and it was hard to find. The hotel is located in close proximity to numerous fast food establisments. The one issue I had was the bed was uncomfortable. Other than that, it is a nice hotel.

WE met my brother & 2 sisters here to attend another Brother's funeral today. Checked in a little early with no problem on a nice room with 2 queen beds on the 3rd floor --as requested in my reservation. Brother & sisters arrived later in the afternoon, and we drove out to the Wake Service at the Church in Powhatan. After a good night's sleep, had their included breakfast, which has good variety, and the lady kept every thing well stocked, kept the counters clean, and was otherwise wiping the tables. Had sausage, they were out of the usual bacon, yogurt, and a blue berry muffin and 2 cold cups of milk. Wife had her coffee, eggs, sausage and a muffin. Room was very clean, including the bathroom--sink was separate from the tub & toilet. WE have stayed here before, and will return on our next trip to Richmond. Very quiet as the rooms are nearly a block off the Midlothian Turnpike.

Good place to stay while visiting Richmond area. Had a nice room on 1st floor as requested for husband who is on O2. Staff very helpful. Would stay there again. Front recommended to eat @ Hard Shell for dinner.

Unhappy with incident as mentioned that items were missing on top of desk, but hotel staff claimed never was such in room. Making us like lying or making up such claim over such insignificant things- it's the staff's words against hotel guest's!

In town for grandson's high school lacrosse game & needed a place to sleep but didn't want to spend a fortune. The few hotels in this area were $120-150 a night but after looking at the good TripAdvisor reviews we decided to give this place a try and so glad we did. Got a terrific room, King bed deluxe with lots of room, for 95$, with tax a bit over $100. The room & bed was comfortable, large, super clean, & breakfast more than sufficient to start the day. There is a pool & exercise room and plenty of parking. The area has lots of eating places near by. Corina was super helpful, checking us in, getting directions to the high school and very pleasant. The only drawback is the hotel is a bit hard to find. Keep your eyes pealed for the Best Western Welcome sign, immediately turn right and after you turn just keep driving past the brick wall into the hotel parking lot.

We stayed here 1 night in April at the beginning of a tour that led us through 9 Eastern + New England states. This was our second stop after Washington, DC. We loved Richmond! Capitol building, Poe museum, Holocaust Museum...wonderful people we met. The hotel is in a bit remote location. But the advantage then is that it is quiet. A lot of places for dinner are around, as well as Walmart for shopping. We had a nice room and enjoyed the breakfast. Only downside was that at arrival - and that was the issue with all Best Western hotels on this trip, not with any of the other hotels we stayed at - the guy at the reception was not too friendly and asked us to pay again although everything was pre-paid through our travel agency (Canusa in Hamburg, Germany). A long discussion (again, the same with the other Best Western on this trip too), until they found out in their system that it was indeed pre-paid. A waste of time - we had a voucher in German and English for each hotel they never wanted to have a look at. Anyway, apart of that we were happy here and would stay here again. As we have been to more than half of the states of the USA now, we have to say that on this trip we liked Virginia, DC and Pennsylvania the most. We are definitely down for the Southern states, Texas, New Mexico, and the West Coast.

I don't generally make reviews, but I do look at reviews. So here we go. The hotel seems to be an older building, but they have taken great care of it. Lots of stone and brick decor. The room was spacious and clean. Directv instead of some crappy local cable company. The bed was very comfortable. The icing on the cake was Ms Chauna. So friendly and accommodating with a true southern CHARM. Next time I have business in Richmond, I will stay here.

The architecture of the hotel is unusual and interesting. Lots of brick arches, stone facade wall and unusual ceilings. Nice change from standard fare. Room large, clean, comfortable. Breakfast adequate. Friendly staff. Would stay again.

We needed a home away from hope while work was being done on our house. This was very convenient for us and met all of our needs. All members of the staff we interacted with were professional and friendly.

I would stay here again. This chain is one of the older ones, but they keep them quite current. The location is great for traveling as it is right off 81. I did mention at checkout that the carpet did not look well vacuumed. I like the rewards program that the Best Western has. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean.

i love the Best Western. this hotel was nice and quiet during my stay. the only drawback was the location. i road pass the hotel twice and it was all the way in the rear from the main road. Keep up the good work.

I lived near this hotel for 15 years and didn't realize it was there. When we went to the hotel it took a minute because it is at the END of the driveway hidden away like a gem. It is hard to believe a place could be so quiet and be that close to Midlothian and Robious. The staff were friendly, caring, and professional. The room and bathroom were very clean and well apppointed. We had a lovely stress free stay and I'll certainly be staying their again when we visit Richmond in the future!

On our many road trips this is one of the best hotel/motel we have stayed at. Set back of the main road this is a lovely and quaint motel. Quietly elegant. The staff are extremely professional and friendly. The room was huge with a king bed. Exceptionally clean and well appointed. There was no noticeable noise from anywhere in the motel. Breakfast was very good. Wifi was fast. Highly recommend. Two thumbs up!!!

Always try to stay at Best Western. Service is excellent and very reasonably priced for the most part. The rooms were clean and modern and the breakfast was outstanding. Would definitely recommend this hotel and Best Western in general to those looking for a reasonably priced hotel.

This year we have decided to look for an other hotel, and fortunately, we have discovered ''Best Western Plus Goverenor's In''. This hotel resort has to be discovered by all travelers who want to find something different and unique.

My husband and I stay in Richmond at least twice a year. We have assemblies that we attend. We stay at the Best Western Plus every time we are in Richmond. Staff are very friendly and the hotel is very clean. We have never had any problems there.

The room was clean, neat, and quiet. The staff was kind and helpful. Very good value for the room. Breakfast was very good...eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, pancakes, fruit, cereal, etc...and the coffee was fine. Pillows squished down to nothingness...thankfully they had 3 per person. Mattress was average. Through the wall HVAC was a little noisy but normal for that kind of system and it operated well. Plenty of restaurants and shopping close by.

Clean, nice staff, location was a little confusing to find but it offered privacy, good breakfast. Staff gave just the right amount of customer service whic was great because I don't like being pestered when I pay for relaxation. If I'm in the area again I will look them up.

This was an older hotel that reminded me of a castle. Very quiet, staff was friendly and went out of their way. The only thing I noticed was need a little TLC, I'd definitely stay again. Hotel a little hard to find sits behind all the buildings in a shopping plaza.

Staff was very helpful and the room very clean and comfortable. Had issues with the TV, but it was an easy fix thanks to Wil. Have observed the staff works together. A great thanks to Wil, for his support! Breakfast is great and the breakfast staff makes sure the guest needs are taken care of.

This property felt a bit dated, but our overnight stay was fine. Be aware that there is a relatively popular night club attached to the property. We were warned, so requested a room "away" from the club. (I understand things can get a bit noisy some nights). Things did get wound up while we were there with lots of clubbers, but we couldn't hear them in our room Likely want to be in your room a little early to secure a decent parking spot on weekend nights due to the club crowd.

Very good breakfast but the rooms seem to be a little out of date for the price point. There was peeling wallpaper in the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The area it is located in and the outdated rooms make this hotel over priced.

We had a block of rooms for a soccer tournament and the hotel was very accommodating, even when I had to cancel one night at the last minute and wasn't charged. The hotel itself has character built by the previous owner and has a castle/medieval look, but with all the amenities. We had a mini fridge, microwave, safe, coffee maker and hairdryer in the room - everything one would expect, but the rooms did seem a little dark because of the brown bedding, dark wood desk, armoire, black desk chair, and wooden coffered ceiling. The breakfast had hot (egg patties, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy, grits, two waffle makers) as well continental items (pastries, bagels, cereal, granola) and beverages. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They showed Southern hospitality for sure. The grounds and event rooms had more potential than what they showed which is a shame because they could do a lot with the place.

Tina, the night clerk, went above and beyond to help me locate the hotel after I had been given wrong directions by MapQuest. When I arrived she had a big smile waiting for me. After a very long and frustrating day, Tina was the bright star! She is the kind of employee that can change the mood of the day. Kudos to Tina!

First of all, I am a planner. I enjoy researching and "getting the best bang for our buck" BUT I like clean rooms, to be comfortable and have everything I need as well. We were in town for the weekend to go to a lacrosse tournament. I was alone with my mom and two boys. One of my boys has epilepsy so it is imperative that he gets a good night sleep. I called ahead and booked a two queen suite. Called back to make sure we had a quiet room. Called back again because I noticed the rooms were divided but did not have a door (through pictures other reviewers posted). Each time the staff was patient and never made me feel like a pain in their neck. One staff person even suggested she have the maintenance man measure the door between the two rooms and then would call me back. She did with such kindness. The rooms are huge! The sitting area was so big we were able to fit a queen size air mattress between the couch and the far side of the room with room left over, PLUS still have a sitting area on the other side. I bought a $5 spring loaded curtain rod (up to 48") and a $8 black out curtain and placed it in the door opening between the rooms. It worked perfectly! Appliances worked well. The small refrigerator and microwave were convenient as I brought meals to warm up knowing the boys would be exhausted from playing in their games. The couch bed was decent to sleep on and looked brand-new. The beds themselves were very comfortable. Breakfast was great with a variety of selections and something for everyone. You will be full when you leave. Penny the attendant was wonderful! The place isn't fancy but has the conveniences we needed. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable. This momma was extremely satisfied!

The hotel was very nice and clean. The front desk was very helpful and courteously, including the people that cleaned our room. We were very happy we choose this hotel and it was very close to all the places we visited.

We stayed for a Lacrosse showcase over the weekend. I recommend this Inn. It is very clean and we experienced an employee, Mark who works in the breakfast area who demonstrated outstanding service and was very accommodating. He definitely went out of his normal duties to help us out. My hats of to this fine gentleman!

This hotel looks like a brick castle! Room was so Clean and hotel was perfect for our overnight stay. The breakfast they serve was good and the atmosphere was cozy. The attendant there was so nice and kept the eating area so clean. We will stay here again, especially with the great rate we got.

We had a retirement reception to attend on a Sunday evening, and so to avoid returning home in the dark, we spent the night here. Had a very large room on the top floor with 2 queen beds. Everything was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the room was so far off the highway, we heard no traffic noise. It's near shopping, and many restaurants. Just a short distance to the Parkway to go rapidly anywhere in the city. Nice breakfast, and the young man attending the room was outstanding---very pleasant, welcoming and efficient. When he was not checking breakfast supply items, he was restocking, or wiping down tables, and cleaning up any trash left behind. The cleaning staff and front desk were equally as pleasant and helpful. Definitely where I'll stay when I return to the Richmond area.

We really enjoyed our first stay at this hotel.We needed a location close to our family in Bon Air and this fit the bill very well. We found that everyone working at the hotel to be very friendly. The breakfast was also well done.

This was a very clean and Ultra-Friendly property. Lots to choose from for restaurants close by. Had a very nice stay and Velcro our dog really liked it too!!!! Fresh coffee in the morning and truly all staff went out of their way for us. Will definitely highly recommend!!!!

Nice. Good breakfast. Very pretty. Was only there for one night due to location of hotel. the exterior was very pretty.I especially enjoyed the variety of items at the breakfast . they had many toppings for breakfast and a great selection.

Thank God they had some rooms still. Coming from Illinois on a Friday night and didn't think about football games in the area. Every hotel from Charleston West Virginia to Charlottesville Virginia was sold out. Found 1 room in Lewisburg at sleep Inn for 289 bucks a night. All gouging because of the football game. May they all rot in hell. This hotel however was great clean met for a grown up. Modern Hotel recommend highly. Staff was friendly and only so helpful.

I checked in around 6:30p.m I noticed it was a busy night there seemed to be a party on the first floor. And the front desk girl (Christina) was busy but she was very kind and helpful when I got to the desk to check in. I asked her if I could be away from party and she was very accommodating with that she offered to put me either on the 3rd floor or in the building behind the lobby one. I asked her what rooms look the best and she described what the rooms look like individually and she described the other buildings room so beautifully that's the room I wanted and she was right the room was amazing I loved the brick and stone walls and the entrances to the room. I highly recommend this hotel

This Best Western is pretty good overall. Clean; good breakfast; plenty of parking space. Close to restaurants, gas stations, Walmart. Comfortable beds; refrigerator; microwave oven; working desk. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I am on the road over 100 nights a year for business. I want a clean comfortable room close to my business accounts. That would be Best Western Governor's Inn when I'm in Richmond, VA. Classy place with character, gym, pool, and great breakfast too. What else could you want? Did I mention outstanding service? They have that as well.

Made a trip to house search due to job relocation. Hotel is conveniently located, clean, and had some charm in the second building. Breakfast was include was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend if looking for something inexpensive but nice.

Our two night stay was very good. We arrived very late at night, but a front desk person was there to great us in a warm and friendly way, which is the attitude of every staff encounter we had. The room was spacious and the beds comfortable, though there was only one upholstered chair in the room in spite of much spare room. The bathroom was clean and modern. The big surprise was the very good quality of the complimentary breakfast with more options than usual and different egg and breakfast meat offerings each day. If you are looking for a moderately priced room, this is definitely a hotel to consider.

Great hotel about 15 minutes from the track. Friendly staff. Rooms are great value for the money, they do have room airconditioners vs central air. It is an older hotel but well maintained. We were in the original building this time. They do have a free breakfast in the mornings.

My husband and I were in Richmond visiting my son and his girlfriend. I searched long and hard for a hotel in the area where they live. Took a chance on this hotel and glad we did. The amenities were good- location was perfect- and the price was right! Very pleasant staff, clean rooms- actually the whole property was well maintained. The room was comfy. Extra pillows and blankets- self controlled A/C which always helps with a restful nights sleep!

The person (Wilbert)at the front desk when we checked in on September 13 was helpful, competent, friendly and nice to my daughter, granddaughter, her baby and me that evening. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds comfortable and the bath was fine. The next morning the breakfast was well stocked, the food hot and delicious, the person in charge of the dining area, Mark, was very helpful to my family making sure we had everything we needed. My daughter was able work out in the exercise room. When we left the lady at the front desk (Carina)was very polite and helpful. This was the best service at a Best Western I have had. We plan to stay in this hotel when we are back in the area visiting our relatives.

Had to stay here during home construction from trees falling on my house, so stayed 49 days. This hotel has alot of stone and brick work that make it extremely pretty. All employees are very polite and professional. Landscaping around the kidney shape pool is very peaceful. The deluxe king suite is large and spacious, especially comfortable for a long stay.

Not all rooms have elevator access. The desk associate quickly offered us a room on the first floor of the main building when I told her we needed access to a room that didn't have stairs. The room was great and you could not hear much exterior noise which made for a restful nights sleep.

This hotel was available on race weekend and rated well. It's an older hotel but the rooms are immaculate and the staff was extremely friendly. My only gripe was there was no blackout curtains, just the sheer drapes. Not a deal breaker unless you want to sleep in. The breakfast was hearty and bottomless. Eggs, sausage links, sausage gravy and all the other accoutrements. The stonework lends an air of aristocracy to the south side of Richmond. We will definitely return.

The hotel exterior is like no other Best Western, very impressed with the detailed exterior. Rooms were clean and had detailed wood work. Staff was very helpful, and rooms were clean and functioned like they should.

I booked this hotel so I had a place to stay after the NASCAR race on Saturday night. I didn't really see any pictures at booking, but with their AAA rate, got a pretty good deal for a King Suite, that matched what some hotels wanted just for a regular double room because of race weekend. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful, and nice. Upon walking into the lobby, I knew I picked the right place. It seemed classy, clean, and well kept. Check in was a breeze. Our room was in the first building we passed coming in (there are two buildings, the lobby is clearly marked in the second building). The hallway to our room was nice, but once we got to our room we were extremely pleased. The room was cleaned, and had more space than we could have asked for. The pillows weren't the "cheap hotel pillows" I was used to. The bed was comfortable. And the temperature was perfect considering how warm and humid it was outside. It was a fantastic nights sleep after the race, I actually wish I could have stayed longer, because the room was so cozy and home-like. If I come back to Richmond, I will ABSOLUTELY stay here again. P.S. This hotel is on a stretch of road where there is literally everything. Supermarkets, every fast food chain you could think of, Krispy Kreme, and also quick access to toll road to Richmond. 5 stars and A+ to this hotel.

Located at end of "hotel strip" so not too close to many restaurants. Beach very nice and clean. Rooms are showing their age. Employees pleasant but not too knowledgeable. Our room didn't face ocean but we got a pretty low rate.

The room was adequate. Didn't like being in a building on the second floor without an elevator (only main building has an elevator). Staff were pleasant. People in room next to us were noisy. Was convenient to wedding venue. Liked that the 2 beds were queen and not doubles.

Visiting family in the Richmond area each year, this is the hotel of my choice. Location is good, access is good and the hotel is clean and quiet. Breakfast could use a little work on the flow of things but the quality of the different food items is very adequate. Check in and check out is quick and easy making my stay comfortable and stress free.

I have stayed at many Best Western Hotels over the past years and most of them have been very nice. This one in Richmond, VA was very nice. Room was quite large and comfortable. Room was clean and "quiet". I requested a room on the upper floor at the end of a hallway so I would have less of a chance of noisy neighbors! I have had this problem before but not this time!

I stay in a lot of hotels. 5 days a week worth. This hotel shows its age well. The rooms are always clean and if there's an issue they are quick to help. My morning check- ins are always greeted with a smile from Carina. She is the reason I'm a regular. Keep up the good work.

Front desk staff wasn't terribly friendly. The hotel is really outdated but it is clean and that was more important to us. The room was huge. The bed was comfortable. Good water pressure in the shower. Huge parking lot. The location is okay but not terribly convenient to downtown; however, for the price, not bad. It had a good breakfast though the eating area got crowded fast.

We were attending a baptism so we reserved for two nights. The room was clean and cozy. Breakfast is included and we enjoyed it. Most of all the biscuits was delicious that we highly recommend. I am not a big breakfast person but this place offered delicious pancake yogurt. My 10 yrs old girl loved it!

It was clean, so kudos to the housekeeping staff. But, it's old and needs renovation. It's a little hard to find, and there are 2 buildings there. I was dropped off at the wrong building after dark, and got in with no problem because they hadn't activated the locks on the doors which are supposed to restrict access to guests with keys. I had to call the front desk from my cell phone because I couldn't find it from the signage in the 2nd building. The beds were functional, but not that comfortable. The window AC was functional but noisy, turning on and shutting off every few minutes. And the building had a scent of moisture throughout, covered up by air fresheners.

This motel is run like a well-oiled machine. The staff are courteous and efficient, the rooms are clean and spacious and the continental breakfast is superb for a continental breakfast. The breakfast area is run by a sweet little woman that constantly cleans and puts out fresh food. You could eat off the floors, if they weren't carpeted! Great place to stay and the price is right!

Stayed with the family while traveling through. Great stay and price. Safe and convenient. About 20 minutes outside downtown Richmond, but very easy to get to and in between the city and the zoo. Staff was all smiles and very helpful. Room was clean and had a great "castle" feel to it with rock walls and dark wood on the ceiling. It was comfortable and fun. A good departure from the typical bland hotel. Pool was very clean and well kept. Overall kids and parents very happy with this hotel. Thank you!

This is a good, average, OK hotel with huge rooms, fridge, coffee machine, good beds, great towels, good housekeeping but.......the worst breakfast I have ever had. It was plastic food with plastic cutlery and styrofoam cups. The coffee is dreadful, the food is awful. There was a pool and gym, but we did not visit. The receptionist was helpful and the cookies in the reception were good. Parking is plentiful. The location is easy to find and access from the Turnpike is also easy.

I found that there were some improvements, since our last stay... The breakfast servings tasted much better... The staff was very helpful, especially a part-time clerk, Tina... Her knowledge of the area was a great help to me.. The rooms were cleaner and were cleaned each day and everything was in place... The lobby was cleaner. The only thing I didnt like was that there were no coffee creamers at night and that was immediately rectified by Tina...I usually dont try to blow up what a worker does, but she was on the job... I had asked another clerk for creamers on another night and didnt see any, later when i came back down to the first floor.Also, I dont know what was happening with the door keys, but they lost their code several times...They were not near any magnets or batteries All IN All... we had a great stay

Don't be chintzy with coffee cups at breakfast. Small Styrofoam coffee cups are a definite fail. Coffee tastes awful in Styrofoam, and small size means guests need to use many of them, or have to continually get up or return to breakfast area to refill. Vending on main floor only. Need diet sodas in vending; not simply one machine with a canned diet soda, especially when that machine has redundant soda offerings of other machines. Guests prefer bottles for the cleanliness standpoint. Main building layout is a bit bizarre. If one goes to the end of the third floor where there is supposedly ice and vending, one must then go down to the stairs to the second floor to get ice. Want a soda? Need to go to ground floor, but can't get there by stairs as they only exit to the outdoors. Must use elevator instead.

The room is very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Lori, the manager was very accommodating. The complementary breakfast was fantastic. We will definitely stay here again. The machines in the fitness center are up to date. The pool area was very clean and pretty. The flowers add a great touch.

This is a great place to stay. Quiet, convenient and a great staff! Great rates for group bookings (i.e, family reunion). Clean and cozy. I must compliment the General Manager, Lori Gantz-Shelton. From our first contact, Lori, handled all my questions and concerns in a professional and expeditious manner in reserving blocked rooms for our family reunion. Her personality is very engaging and I could not hardly wait to meet her face-to-face. Lori is a treasure!

We came to Richmond to visit our family and meet our new born nephew. We have a 3 year old dog who travels with us frequently, so we considered the Best Western Plus as they were listed as a dog friendly hotel. The pet fee is a reasonable $20 per night. We were satisfied with the cleanliness and comfort of the room. The hotel is nothing extraordinary, but it met all of our needs. We will definitely consider using this hotel again if we need a place to stay in the Richmond area. Side note: The hotel seems to be recently renovated on the inside, however noise travels throughout it. We had issues with noise at all hours of the night.

Great stay on our way to Florida. Interesting architecture of brick and stone. Staff were terrific and accommodating. Room was attractive, clean and fully equipped, with mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot. My husband loved the large flat screen t.v. Breakfast was adequate. I would return when in the area.

Stopped here for one night after driving for 11 hours. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the breakfast was adequate. It is quiet and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I did not go to the local attractions, but this hotel seems well situated if you want to spend a couple of days in Richmond to see the sights. There is an outdoor pool, but we did not use it. If you have trouble walking, ask for a room on the main floor in the front building because there are no elevators. We had to climb up a long flight of stairs to the second floor with our luggage. Not a problem for us, but I can see this being an issue for the elderly and infirm. The front building is connected to the breakfast room and the main lobby. The back building is just behind it, but to access the main building you will have to walk outside.

my family enjoyed the stay the pool was nice the rooms where very clean and comfortable but a little on the small side. we had a nice overall experience and will be back soon maybe just for me and my husband wish that it had onsite washer and dryers

This hotel was extraordinarily clean, unique, and (most-importantly) priced. I booked ahead at the government rate after seeing the positive reviews on Trip Advisor. The hotel is positioned back off the main road and tucked away, which is excellent from a standpoint of both noise and security. I also enjoyed the brick architecture, it was a fun place to stay and the kids got a kick out of it. The attendants at the breakfast area were super attentive and very nice, greeting people with genuine smiles and offers to help them out. The front desk clerk, Maryanne, was very friendly and warm. The room was positively huge and ultra clean. The blackout curtains were the best I have ever seen, I was able to get the room almost pitch black even in the brightest sun. If you find yourself needing a place to stay in Richmond, this is it, look no further!

The king size bed was so comfy. I love the castle like feel. The breakfast had a lot to choose from. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool is nice, just wish they had an indoor pool for rainy days. We will be staying here our next trip here.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Rooms were clean, but could benefit from a little decor update. Front desk honored my request to be in the back, on the end and away from the noise. Parking lot well lit and free!

Greeted by friendly staff, this hotel is perfect for staying one night while travelling. It's kind of uninspiring, and mostly due to the location (on a turnpike). They've tried to make it more homely with planting etcetera which is great. They have a pool as well as a small gym with a few machines. The overall impression is that this is a CLEAN hotel with slightly tired looking rooms. We went for a nice dinner in Richmond for the evening, and with two toll stations to and from the city, it wasn't the most convenient place to stay if you wanted to go to Richmond. But ok if you're on your way south!

Just about what i expected. Best western is my franchise of choice when it comes to lodging and this one was great. Staff was good , room was clean. Its a little pricy for me but its worth it for the quility. I wish the pool was indoor and heated because it was a little cold for me and too much clorine burnt my eyes. But overall very nice i reccomend it

The room was clean and the staff were friendly. We were in the back building which did not have an elevator. This was not an issue for us. Only down was the internet was spotty. I would definitely stay at this Best Western again though.

We were recently in the area for a lacrosse tournament. The hotel is in a great location for being able to get to the fields, and a short distance from the Short Pump shopping area. The room was spacious and very clean. My daughter and I had one of the best night sleeps. The mattress were perfect. We had a good size fridge & microwave in the room. I was impressed that all of the hotels outside doors needed a keycard at all times to enter. Many hotels I have stayed in only require a keycard after 9pm. The breakfast was top notch, there was something for everyone from bacon to waffles, to yogurt and fresh fruit. The staff kept the food filled, and the room spotless. There is an outside pool, but we didn't get a chance to use it, it looked very clean & inviting. We are definitely on planning on staying here next June & July for another tournament. I almost don't want to tell everyone about this gem of a hotel for fear everyone will want to stay here. Great experience, can't wait to come back.

Cannot complain about anything, very large clean room, amazing castle decor, great value for the price, we we're only stopping for the night on our way home from Florida, which we had more time to enjoy the stay, free breakfast was excellent

They have a sign out on the main road but there's a car "pool" wash that hides the building and the area look like a dump till you turn into the driveway then you're looking at Williamsburg Governor's palace type buildings! I paid over $100 for the room. It was big but still the A/C was on same side as beds (not on side with desk and Tv. So--we slept with cold air blowing on our faces/heads all night! The breakfast was OK but nothing special. The bathroom had the sink outside the bathroom and we didn't appreciate that as we like privacy when brushing teeth and doing personal things (our 9yr old granddaughter traveled with us) I think for that money and all the fancy building/grounds they should have a complete bathroom and A/c that doesn't blow on your head all night!

To me this is a great place to stay. It was secluded. It had everything you would want in a hotel. My room was spacious and clean. In the entrance coming to the Hotel, it had a car wash. I dropped my car off to have it detailed and went back to the hotel. They called me when it was ready for pick-up. If I were to come back to Richmond, Va. I would stay at this Hotel.

Great hotel with clean big rooms and comfy beds. I was only there a short overnight for a business trip with my husband but the breakfast was perfect too. The hotel was very interesting looking on the outside as well.

Over night stop on the way north. Such a cool hotel! My kids loved staying in a "Castle"! Rooms were clean and breakfast was excellent. I do wish they served bacon. This a non-smoking facility. Thumbs up for that! It's a bit hard to find the entrance and is located behind the Car Pool car wash. Look for that and you will find you turn. You have to go to the back of the lot to find the lobby. There are signs. The pool opens and closes at 9am and 9pm. I arrived there two minutes too late but It looks like a nice pool. There is a gym that also closes at 9 and opens at 6:30. No food or drinks are allowed. Really? No water bottle for running on the treadmill?

Quite happy with our stay, we no longer look for another hotel when we are in the jRichmond area, we specifically go to the Best western Governors Inn. There is never a debate about this, we just make reservations and go. we like this hotel very much and it says a lot, when we dont' even look around for another anymore, saves time and money. Staff are pleasant, and happy to serve us. Happy to inform us of any upcoming events, not only in the hotel, but in the Richmond area as well. Quite happy

Was not sure what I was getting when I Pricelined this, but my expectations were exceeded. Staff was very helpful. Hotel has a lot of character. Needs updating but everything was clean. Breakfast was good. Yes there's a trailer park behind it but i never felt unsafe or anything. This was very convenient for us for a lacrosse tournament at River City Sportsplex, would stay again. Convenient to everything you need (restaurants, supermarkets, etc).

I love the fortress / castle appearance of this hotel. The staff was courteous and helpful, but they need to work on getting people away from the windows next to the stairs on the 2nd floor. There was too much loud chatter that disturbed our evening.

i've stayed here before. it's well kept and the bed is so comfortable. express check-in makes things easy. there are lots of restaurants on Midlothian Turnpike such as Carrabas, Olive Garden, other fast food places too

the hotel staff were very kind. The rooms were nice size. We had an accessible room that worked, except the bathroom door was very awkward and hard to manage. The beds themselves were comfortable, but the pillows were terrible.

We had a 2 night reservation and on the first night we had a late start, stuck in traffic, and multiple stops on our way to Virginia. I called to see how late we could check in and we were told midnight. We knew we would not make it there in time so I explained what was going on and they told us to check in anytime. We arrived a little after 1:30am and the desk clerk was super nice. She also grabbed a pack n play for my 1 year old to sleep in. The room was clean and the breakfast was self serve but had a waffle maker, lots of muffins, breads, etc to pick from, along with hot foods like eggs, sausage, and french toast. The standard late check out at 12pm also helped as we had late nights visiting family in the area. The hotel was clean in the other parts. unfortunately we did not get a chance to use the outdoor pool as we forgot the bathing suits.

Our daughter will be attending VCU (which is about 8 miles from this hotel) so I wanted to have a hotel or two that I knew would meet our expectations that we could stay in during her college years. After reading such great reviews and seeing that their price was so reasonable, I decided to try Best Western Plus Governor's Inn in Richmond during my daughter's orientation. Admittedly, it is not close to downtown or the college but is not a bad drive and the savings over downtown prices make it worth the drive. There are a ton of places to eat around this hotel--anything from Olive Garden to Cook Out and Panera. Food stores and places like Petco and Hobbytown USA are also around. It is set back from the road a bit. It has a car wash in front of it, a restaurant that could use an update beside it and a trailer park behind trees behind it, but that's pretty much par for the course for hotels in this city and there are plenty of really nice shopping areas and even neighborhoods near it. I felt completely safe driving to it and staying it while along with my two other daughters. The grounds of the Best Western itself were very nice. They have an outdoor pool that my kids loved since it was 95 degrees outside. The pool is small so I can see it being crowded on a weekend perhaps and, unfortunately, a rundown wooden fence separates the carwash and the the pool area, but they have lovely potted plants, new tables and chairs and again, on a hot day in the city, just having a pool is a plus. It was super quiet during the week and my girls adored using it to cool off. There are two buildings for this hotel. One is the main hotel that has the lobby and offers the breakfast dining room and the rooms, although they use to allow smoking, no longer do and they are all nicely renovated. The second building is smaller and some rooms are right on the pool deck level so you could have pool chairs up against your window but the rooms are super neat looking with brick and stone walls and wood on the ceiling. You have to go across a small parking lot and into the second building and through that one to get to the pool. Like wise, if you stay in the second building/pool building, you'll have to cross the parking lot and go through the main hotel to get to breakfast. The first room we checked into in the main hotel--#212--smelled like smoke. I was not sure if it was residual from the previous years of allowing smoking or if someone using the room before us had lit up. I went right down to the front desk and they were extremely apologetic and immediately moved us to room #321 which was perfection. It smelled fresh and clean, was spotless and yes, I even took off the six layers of comforters, sheets, mattress pads and the zippered bag to look at the mattress and boxspring and they were pristine white and perfect. We have paid twice as much (or more!) for rooms half as clean. A mini frige and freezer, microwave and coffee pot were nice to have and a large flat screen tv was great for late night viewing. A comfy chair and large desk (and free wifi), a sink vanity in the room and another counter, toilet and bathtub with shower inside the bathroom completes the room. A FREE hot breakfast is available 7 days a week and is simply incredible. I have never had a free spread like that at a hotel. It was HUGE and had something for everyone. Dairy free and gluten free options are even available upon request. I highly suggest having breakfast there. The staff was working hard and came out every other minute to refresh supplies and wipe counters and tables. A lovely dining room with a fireplace and large screen tv playing the news made for a very enjoyable start to our day. Lots of brick, archways, and metal gives even the main hotel a very cool castle like feel that I really enjoyed--it was a refreshing break away from the traditional hotel feel. The staff were all incredible, super nice and always smiling. My daughters did not want to leave and my ten-year-old even teared up when we checked out. What you get for the price can not be beat and we will definitely be returning during our college visits for our oldest daughter.

Penny is very friendly and cheerful. She does a fantastic job of making you feel welcome in the breakfast room. I would stay again because the rooms are quiet, peaceful, and accommodating staff. I recommend this hotel location to other travelers.

We were first in the building with no elevator but they switched us over since it was me my mom and three boys ages 4,2 and 10 months. The stairs were just too dangerous for them. The rooms were great! Service always with a smile! The ladies at the breakfast were a delight to talk to and served above and beyond! Also the cleaning service ladies were awesome as well as one young man helped us move between rooms.

clean, comfortable, good location, breakfast was not elaborate but you will get your carbs and save from going out to buy one. i would definitely stay here again and the price was way under the other hotels in the area

We used this hotel 3 years ago for our daughter's wedding. They graciously allowed us to use a room for a family gathering so we came back. This time the breakfast room attendant, Penny, was friendly, efficient and truly cared about what she was doing. It was the best experience we've ever had in a hotel that served breakfast. Room was very spacious and quiet.

After a really bad experience with Days Inn down the street, Best Western was a warm welcoming light at the end of the tunnel. The staff, Damien and Tina, was phenomenal!! Extremely warm and sympathetic to our earlier experience, and the fact we had driven 159 miles, they ensured us as soon as there was a cancellation for the evening they would let us know....which they did. The same could be said regarding each shift following Damien and Tina, they made you feel like you were family and they really cared. We checked into a nightmare on 6/17 at 7:30 PM, but before 11 PM, we were comfortably settled in one of the best stays I've had in Richmond. The room was fresh and clean, the linen was visually clean and had a fresh sent! The air quality in the room was fantastic! The breakfast experience was wonderful! The total opposite of what I experienced earlier. I would most definitely recommend the Best Western Plus Governor's Inn on Midlothian to friends, family, anybody. You can't go wrong.

Best Western Plus Govenor's Inn was a great stay for the price and location in Richmond, VA. The breakfast varied during the week and was delicious, hot, and the staff are extremely helpful! Rooms were clean, air conditioning was perfect.

The property is well groomed. Staff and rooms are very well maintained. As a professional road warrior believe me I know the difference between saying what your hotel provides and providing it. This place does!.

We really liked this hotel and plan on staying here whenever we visit our family in Richmond, Va. The hotel was clean and staff were very pleasant and polite. The room was clean. Check in and check out was quick and hassle free. The hallways were free of noise. Will have to try the free breakfast and the pool the next time we stay.

The staff was excellent and the breakfast was awesome! The rooms were nice and clean. Anything that we asked for was provided in minutes, It was located around a lot of shopping areas and restaurants which was a plus!

The location is ideal if visiting Richmond; close and easy to drive too. The staff is friendly and very helpful, especially Damien and Ya El and Penny; they made our stay memorable. The accommodations are modern with an activity room to work out and a swimming pool to take a relaxing plunge at the end of the day. Best of all if free breakfast. Would highly recommend this motel as a stopover if you're traveling through or visiting the city.

We were in Richmond to visit friends and sightsee for a weekend. The hotel was a great location for our stay. The rooms are large, comfortable, and nice décor. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom a very nice size with an awesome shower. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

Great rooms but the best was the breakfast. I usually skip breakfast as it it usually very poor. I am glad that I got up for this one. Waffles, fresh fruit, cereal, eggs, hashbrowns. Nice pool and plenty of parking.

We were paying for 5 rooms for a wedding party. Our room with the king size bed had a bad smell in the room. They gave us another room on the same floor and it smelled better, but it didn't have a king size bed. At check-out I only got a $10 discount on that room. I think it should have been much more than that or even free, because we didn't get a room with a king size bed, which I reserved months ago.

We were here for a surprise birthday present for my aunt on her ninety celebration. This location is always an enjoyable stay because of the warm, fresh and super selection breakfast as well as clean and workable Exercise Room. The ladies and gentlemen at the Front Desk were always friendly with a positive attitude and most informative Thank you.

I would suggest to call ahead and make sure there is no party guests on the day of your reservation. There was a wedding party the day we arrived and we were placed on the same floor. These people were rowdy and noise, yes we did complain to the front desk and just ended up calling the cops on the other guests. The cops had to come twice. If you need to relax you might better considering calling ahead and just check with the front desk.

Took a school trip here with 36 students for 3 nights. Adorna and the staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Students were happy with rooms, which were clean and well-maintained. (one of my pet peeves is shower water pressure, but these showers were great) Breakfast was adequate for a free continental breakfast. The only weird thing is the layout, with separate buildings for different rooms. Our block of rooms was in a different building than the main one that had the dining hall and main lobby. But otherwise, a great hotel with a better staff, and we'll be back if we take another trip in that area!

Excellent value and a very positive overall experience. The staff were very outgoing and positive. The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was also clean, with a good shower. The location was very co9nvenient for our needs, and to get anywhere around the Richmond area.

The staff are super friendly and willing to help any way they can. The room is a good size, not spectacular looking, but it is clean. It's also close to so much around and close to highway. Would definitely stay here again.

We got a room for a week, for my birthday. The room was large, apparently not the norm. I didn't like that we couldn't open the windows because they don't have screens for them, and the ac is loud. But, we bought screen and masking tape and fixed that. The folks were very nice at check in. We were able to get around easily from here. All in all I enjoyed my stay here.

About ten miles sw of Richmond with very quick and easy access to White House and Museum of Confederacy, Tredegar Iron Works, Canal boat ride, St Johns Church and its very informative "Patrick Henry" rendition, wonderful VMFA, and eastern battlefields. Very nice staff, nice breakfast, very clean and attractive room,lobby,breakfast room, etc.

Enjoyed our two night stay at this hotel. Great location. Close to downtown Richmond, historical attractions and restaurants. The hotel had a look of a bygone era. The rooms were very comfortable. Would stay at this hotel again. Loved the hot breakfasts.

Reserved wheel chair accessible room for my son and I. He is ongoing patient at Richmond VA Hospital. Reservation made easily by phone. Room was large and very well appointed, with fridge, microwave & coffee maker. Able to park conveniently to watch our vehicle. Well lit, secluded parking lot. Hotel staff extremely accomodating. They gave us large list of restaurants in area. Had pizza delivered directly to room, thanks to their recommendation. This hotel also offers a large discount to guests staying there if using the VA Hospital. This was our second stay here. Breakfast was good. Staff kept it well stocked. Coffee available in lobby. Would definitely stay there again. Good job Best Western.

Booking late for a graduation in Lynchburg brought me to The Governors Inn. I had to fly into Richmond and find an easy access to the route to Lynchburg. Governors Inn was a good choice. It's off the main road and the building is surrounded by beautiful brickwork. Ya'El greeted us at the front desk. She was very nice and made us feel right at home! Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast, which was included, was plentiful with hot and cold choices. The price was right too! There are many stores and restaurants in the area for dining and necessities.

Absolutely fantastic! Chauna was a complete angel and went above and beyond customer service. Five stars all the way! The rooms are very clean and the hotel is quiet and away from the noise of traffic.

This property fits hand in glove for what I look for in a overnight stay or an extended stay. Easy to find BUt far enough off the main road to have a quiet peaceful atmosphere. The staff is always helpful and professional, The rooms comfortable and inviting. I traveled over 100 nights last year and every time I came to Richmond this is where I stayed. Close to shopping and restaurants pool breakfast Wi-Fi ;every time I'm stay I know good Lord willing I'm coming back. It just clicks and like my Grand Dad always told me "if it ani't broke don't fix it!" This motel offer true value for you hard earned money.

The architectural design reminds my Wife of castles. The staff is very friendly and Ms Penny keeps the breakfast room clean and well stocked. A delicious free breakfast and made to feel welcome.In this area twice a year and make a point of staying here. Easy to see why its a Plus.

We recently stayed at the BW Governor's Inn to attend the NASCAR Race in Richmond. The hotel has a much different style than most BW I have stayed at, but it is quaint and has a lot of character. We had seen a few reviews on the overall location and yes, it is next to a mobile home park, but there is a row of trees in between. The hotel was a bit noisy as we were right next to the elevator, but nothing out of the ordinary. The hotel is conveniently located in Midlothian with plenty of typical chain food restaurants nearby. Approx. 20 minute drive to the Richmond International Raceway if you are in town for the event. Overall, great spot to be close to Richmond's attractions yet just outside of town. Would recommend.

Wow, the ladies at the front desk greeted us with a smile and great attitudes from the moment we walked in, what a pleasure it was dealing with them. We had 3 rooms, all of us were very satisfied with the cleanliness and appearance. The lady working the breakfast area, OMG, she was sooo nice and accommodating, an exemplary employee. Great value, great location, quiet.

Our room was clean and fresh and ready when we arrived. It was race weekend and they gave us race items. The breakfast was the best one I ever had as a complimentary breakfast. Very good variety and a large breakfast room. Something for everyone. I would definitely stay here again.

I still can't get the stink out of my brain! Seriously, I would've preferred to have been stuck in a convention of 10 million smokers! The check-in is okay. But HOLY MOTHER! The hallways where your room is and then your own room. ACK! No. Just NO!

I'm so happy that I was turned away from Doubletree where I previously stayed. (See my review. ) I thought I wouldn't need a reservation there since it was a Monday. Wrong. 1 room left. $199. Came here and couldn't be happier. Now, I'm only here only an hour as I'm writing. I was greeted warmly by Ya'el and Tina. The cost was less than half of Doublecash's price. The room is as good, if not better, than theirs. Clean and QUIET. It seems having separate, smaller buildings makes for a peaceful stay. That part I especially like. I stayed at Best Western before the days of Trip Advisor and was always satisfied. I read some reviews after checking in and thought I would write mine. This is before sampling that great breakfast I'm reading about. But after a long drive, it's about the sleep. The breakfast is a bonus. I'm already convinced it will be like everything else. Perfect.

My daughter and I stayed here last month. The hotel was clean but it was 2 separate buildings which was slightly inconvenient. The 2nd building where we stayed did not have an elevator. My daughter's first reaction was that the hotel reminded her of The Shining. There were 3 women's college soccer teams staying there at the same time, and I heard at least 5 of those girls saying the same thing. I didn't see it, but I thought it was worth noting since so many others thought so. The hotel was clean and the beds were comfy. It was great having breakfast in the morning before we got on our way.

We were in the area for a family wedding. The location and price were very good and suited our needs. High winds caused a partial power outage in our rooms. Staff did what they could to make our stay comfortable. The kitchen staff taking care of the buffet was especially attentive and considerate. While the hotel is now a non-smoking facility, you could still notice a faint cigarette smell in some of the rooms, but it wasn't overwhelming.

When staying at this hotel, check your rates and any discounts available. The front desk staff, based on my experience, will raise the rates to cover any discount that may be offered, only to lower them giving you the illusion of a discount.

We have spent six days in this Best Western. It was very quiet. The complimentary breakfast was better than expected. They had oatmeal, cold cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, make your own waffles, and a variety of breads and pastries. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is within short walking distance to an Olive Garden and a very good pizza place. It is easy to get to and their are lots of stores and restaurants near it. WiFi is free and the speed was good.

Believe the reviews as this is a great property that is quiet, clean, and very comfortable. Although not a fancy resort or luxury hotel, this is an incredible value for business travel and family travel. The area has tons of dining options available and the property is behind the main road which adds to the quietness frequent travelers desire. The breakfast although typical in this category was hot when needed and cold when desired. Some places treat the complimentary breakfast as an after thought, with hot food getting cold. Not at the Best Western. The staff was great by the way!

This place is the best kept secret in Richmond. It is quaint, clean and quiet. Always affordable. The rooms are set up brilliantly for my needs. WiFi is blazing fast. When I travel to the RVA, this is the only place that I stay.

This property was one of the nicest motels we have ever stayed in for this price range. Everything from the exterior appearance to the bathroom was too notch. The interior was immaculate and had been updated to modern amenities and "paint & powder. The free, included breakfast was as good or better than similar motels offer. TV and internet was good quality and fast. The motel sits back off of the highway and is quiet with plenty of free parking. Parking lot was well lighted. This property is well run and is very good value for the price.

This is a very nice motel in all categories. It is one of the quietest ones I have ever stayed at. It sits back off the road away from noise but close to many different things. The hallway is big enough to drive a car down and the rooms are big too. Lots of TV channels. Great breakfast

A clean, cheap hotel with helpful staff. The staff was always Pleasant, and helpful and smiling. A little dated though and not in the best area though. The rooms were clean, well kept and large. The free breakfast was pretty standard. There is a great coffee roaster 1 mile down the road from the hotel. And that helps.

Beautiful brick buildings. The exterior and interior were built from bricks. The hotel reminded me of old historic buildings from the Civil War or Revolutionary War. This particular Best Western should have been set in a meadow dotted with trees and cows grazing in the pastures instead of a commercial area in a suburb outside Richmond. The rooms were huge and spacious. We stayed in a two-queen bedroom and saw a king-size bedroom. There was plenty of room to spread out whether one was travelling on business or pleasure. Even a couple of children in tow would still be fine. The beds were very comfortable. I had a very good night sleep on clean white crisp sheets with lots of pillows as support. The room was quiet. It was also clean and immaculate. The carpet, however, was showing its age. The bathroom could use some touching up. Some hinges on the bathroom door were rusty and a few tiles had hairline cracks. Lots of white towels, however, were provided. There was a fridge, microwave oven, coffee-maker, and television set. Free WIFI was available although at times, it was slow. There was a desk for work and a comfortable chair to read under a floor lamp. The hallways were unusually wide and bright. Generally, hotel hallways are narrow and dark to hide dust and flaws. Instead, these hallways were bright and welcoming. Breakfast was generous and ample. The food was continually replenished by a cheerful lady. When breakfast came to an end, she even announced the closure of the waffle maker but would leave it alone if a customer wanted to make waffles. Sausages, potato patties, eggs, make-your-own waffles, and a host of breakfast items were available at a large, picturesque, and spotless breakfast room. I almost forgot. Cookies and coffee were available in the lobby. The business center is also there with very nice receptionists. Staff at the hotel desired and sought feedback. They smiled and helped. I was unsure about the coffee machine at breakfast. The manager demonstrated. They certainly want to earn your business. They earned mine. I shall be a repeat customer. With regret, I could only stay briefly this time.

This hotel is located in an area full of restaurants and shopping. Most are chains but there is still a lot to choose from. The appearance of the hotel is quite unique and attractive. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed here every year for eight years and will not stay in another hotel. The staff is wonderful and always there to assist with what ever I need. The continental breakfast is wonderful! Internet in the room is great. Rooms are HUGE! The location is with in driving distance of anything you would like to do in the Richmond area

Flight was delayed so I arrived very early in the morning. I called the hotel and the woman at the counter was very helpful in telling me how to get there. When I arrived, she made the check in process simple as she saw how tired I was. Room was clean and comfortable. Because the hotel is back off the road, it is relatively quiet. Breakfast was simple but good. I would stay there again.

Comfortable Room. Good Breakfast. Could have better TV Options. Little hard to find, sits at the back of the main road. Would stay at this location again. When you arrive earlier than the 3PM check in, you'll have to wait until a room can be cleaned.

Overall okay, but it was just okay. The location is awkward as the hotel is set back off the road and somewhat cumbersome to get too. The front of the Hotel is in the back and it appears to have been a part of a larger commercial property? Not really sure. I would stay here again but only if a deeper discount was applied. The Pros: - Very Spacious Room (Deluxe King) - Clean - Quiet - Good access to major highways in the area. - Amazing Hotel Breakfast with quick service. The Cons: - Outdated (Some of the fixtures in the room [i.e. soap dish] were cracked and chipped. Small things but still an issue.) - The staff wasn't the most engaging and didn't really talk to you unless you talked to them. - The maid service took the dirty towels and did not replace them on the second day. - Awkward layout and building access.

Room and public areas clean. That is the most important. All staff encountered were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was simple, but a nice little variety. Has a workout room. Not the time of year for the pool. I would stay again when needed.

We stopped here on our way down to Florida. Room was clean and comfortable, as well as very large. It's conveniently located off of 95, which was nice. The breakfast buffet was standard fare, but replenished often and dining room was clean. Be on time, though, as it ends at 9:30, and they clean up very promptly. We liked it so much that we stayed again on the way back to NY.

As usual this is a place of choice when coming into Richmond from the west. I stayed here often in the past and try to time my business trips with Richmond as an evening destination. Nice people, very good rooms, usual breakfast. Used a coupon. Save your money stay here and treat yourself with the added cash in you pocket- shopping, meal, etc.

We picked this because it was convenient to the restaurant where we were invited for a celebration, and had reasonable rates. The room was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff knowledgeable and helpful. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the complimentary breakfast, much better than the usual bagels and Danish. A full hot breakfast with eggs, meat plus a make your own waffles bar. All in all a great place to stay in the Richmond area.

The property is located off I-95, and has a good hot breakfast that is free. The units are good size, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and there are multiple restaurants in the area. All the usual discounts are available, AAA, AARP etc.

Hotel staff was great--very friendly. We were able to upgrade to a suite for free which ended up very helpful. We have 2 kids and it gave them a little room to run around. Beds were very comfortable! Will stay there again for sure.

This hotel was very clean, the staff was pleasant and personable. The location was convenient only 20 minutes from airport and located near many shops and restaurants. Mattress a little too hard for my liking, but room was very spacious and clean. The overall experience was good.
