not somewhere I would go again--it was late--we were tired. it was not updated, not clean. But read reviews and some positive, so I took a chance. Everything was VERY old and worn out-- it was like a haunted Hotel, all the doors creaked when you opened them, no housekeeping, TV service was terrible, all static stations. beds were uncomfortable, pillows need to be in the trash-- sheets were so thin you can see though them, NO mattress protector AT ALL! YUCK!
My husband and I stayed at the BW Ramkota in Rapid City for 6 nights. The restaurant on the property was the best part, the food was good and prices reasonable. We were very disappointed with several things. The exterior doors of the building never closed properly, which was a fire safety and security issue. There was no housekeeping service during our entire stay. We had to ask for fresh towels and some of the ones they delivered had large stains on them. The bathtub took a long time to drain after our showers were completed.
I selected this because of the kid's water park for my grandson and the pool and hot tub for the adults. The facilities were great. All had fun. Bonus was the exceptionally good hotel restaurant. Don't bother going anywhere else for a meal. Rooms were a bit dated but clean.
Hotel is clean and room was very comfortable. But they placed us so far from desk and pool it took 10 minutes to get to those locations. The airport shuttle is not theirs and was so late we had to get a Lyft to make our flight. It really is a bus line running between many stops, all while the Best Western can was idling in the parking lot
Pool absolutely amazing. Food at the restaurant in need of seasoning- staff and management really nice and personal. Rooms are in need of a serious upgrade with a deep cleaning. Bedding had yellow stains on both beds and shear curtains had poop stains absolutely disgusting
This hotel was so overpriced. If I wasn't so tired from driving, and could have cancel my reservation and been refunded, I would have went somewhere different. The rooms were old and smelled musty, thank goodness I carry Lysol. Three different people complained about only getting breakfast in The Hotel's restaurant, and it didn't open till 7:30. Most people are already packed and on the road by then.
It just works for me. Convenient, in an out fast, friendly staff, Bar staff is great. Will stay there again next time I am in Rapid City. I travel there a lot and stay at different Hotels, but always come back to Ramkota. Rate is fair and I can have a Beer and diner.
The hotel is okay, but the extreme rudeness of the front desk female employee masks anything that could be okay with this hotel. During my checkin, where I was normal, not confrontational, polite (I actually asked those around me "did I say something to deserve this?" Because it was so rude), here was a few gems I was told by her: (I walk up and say "hi") - nothing. No look up, no hi back, no nothing until... " I'll be with you when I'm Ready" okay no biggie. Maybe she didn't mean that as snarky as it sounded. But then.... "You need to listen to what I'm saying" (after I asked, did my card go through?) "As I said, if you were listening, take your card out" so I did, took it out of the machine it was in to which I got a very snarky "take your card out of your pocket" where it wasn't, it was in machine...and....huh? Me: I need to add my roommate to the room. Her: "you need to wait until I'm on that screen" (the screen she's staring at, not me). And so much more. All with a bite to her voice and extreme rudeness. I was tired, traveling all day, and this almost put me in tears. Never been treated this way even by my third grade teacher when talking in class. And this isn't the first time bc another patron said to me after, "she's always like it." TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES BETTER! She is the first person customers see, it shouldn't be hard to just not be rude, doesn't even have to be "nice", just don't be rude. The man next to her (counter position closest to gift shop) also rude. When my coworker walked up to him to check in, he grunted and sort of half pointed to his left. My coworker said “I'm sorry I don't understand. Did you want me to go to another counter?” Another grunt and half point. What is going on here????? Some customer service training is badly needed. There was nice young slender man working the far counter (nearest the window) who was very polite and I think a big embarrassed by his coworkers. Reward him. Train the others.
This is a first rate hotel, the staff is amazing, with the sturgis rally going on I don't know how the staff keeps up but they do.. and they do it with a smile .. This is the second year I have stayed here during the rally.. and I will keep coming back. hopefully next year for the bike wash they can find a longer hose...
Hotel smelled like an athletes foot infection. There was poop on a hand towel in the bathroom, no liner in the shower, no bathroom fan, a pop bottle in the trash when we arrived, light bulb burn out, no sheer privacy curtain on the sliding door facing the parking lot. Janky back door lock, inconsistency of asking for a roll away and being told yes, to check in and there's no roll away at all. No toiletries in the whole room, not even a hand soap.
This year our destination, for our motorcycle group, was Rapid City, SD and most of us stayed at the Ramkota Hotel there. From the beginning of my stay, when I could not access my room, due to their rule of check in is 4PM and I was not feeling well, to the lack of tea in the lobby (coffee only), no breakfast set up for our 90 + group, no elevator, washing machine out of order, extra towels not provided as promised, rude front desk person, and no choice of breakfast (buffet only). I would never come back to this hotel ever.
Highpoint convention held here. Hotel food good. Room 1115 not good. Kept finding black beetletype bugs on bathroom floor and right outside bathroom floor under coffee pot area. Freaked me out big time cos my bf paid big bucks to stay here. Correct situation immediately.
Our trip to the Best Western was last minute and unplanned. We were camping and a thunderstorm and late night arrival made it impossible for us to set up camp safely, so, we opted for a hotel. Chanae was fabulous in checking us in and ensuring that we had everything we needed. Nem, the onsite manager, helped us in multiple ways. First, she allowed us to store some a Yeti cooler and a $400 telescope with security so they were not left in our truck. Second, when she discovered we were Marriott Bonvoy Titanium members, she told us about a promotion that treated us as Select members at Best Western with a tier to tier match. This was completely unexpected and a nice benefit since it provided us with breakfast for two people in our group. Super awesome. The next day, I needed our stuff that we left with security a little earlier than expected. Unfortunately, I had misunderstood that staff to unlock that area would not be in until later. Robert came in early to help us out though. Again, completely unnecessary and unexpected. Robert came in early to let us get our stuff so we could start our camping vacation as soon as possible. I want to thank these folks and the entire Best Western team for a great experience and for putting our needs above their own.
Lived the hotel and loved the pool area for children. My grandchildren had an amazing time and the hotel was centerly located to a lot of activities.
The water park makes this hotel worth the trip. The restaurant is a little pricy for families especially for breakfast. Otherwise, the experience was flawless!
Bedding had stains from previous stay and had not been changed. Food in bed. Staff was annoyed when we asked for new bedding and eventually a new room.
Our family stayed at this location over the 4th of July. Hotel is very family and pet friendly. Clean rooms and very helpful staff. Would definitely stay again
My room was changed with no notice when they knew in advance it would be unavailable. The staff seemed to be unaware about details of the property which made our stay very stressful. Also the handicap room is not very wheelchair friendly.
Staff was great, restaurant was very good, rooms were so so. Bed was so so, pillows were awful. Hotel needs some updating.
But the pool and water park were great. Room was spacious though badly lit. Great location. Restaurant needs more veggie options.
Housekeeping will hound you until you check out as if you don't have the right to leave your room at 11am!
This hotel needs to continue updating it's rooms. New tile on the floor is a good start, however carpeting, bedding, windows, doors and bathrooms all need major restoration.
I knew a hotel that allowed dogs would have lower expectations but I thought hey. We will give it a shot it has a water park for my littles but within the first 2 days we found 3 dirty socks that did not belong to us. They left a dirty tow from the prior people that was full of hair. We had asked for house keeping to come clean it every night but they never did come. The pool ceiling was falling in and had black mold.
This hotel room is not the cleanest environment. The link I used stated free breakfast, it's not free. There is some fire code violations as there is an exit door obstructed with a garbage can holding a hallway door open. The staff is very friendly but the establishment needs some serious attention.
Kids loved the pool and water park. Only thing they wished was the water park water would've been as warm as the big pool
I called the front desk of this hotel to ask how to pay in advance for a room at the hotel for a Native American Elder who is frail, partially blind, and deaf in one ear. I spoke to someone at the front desk. I said I wanted to be sure he didn't have any problems checking in. She said to book online and put his name in the comments section. The room was non-refundable. When he arrived, he was denied the room. Thank goodness his daughter, who dropped him off, had a debit card and was able to book him a new room. When I called the next day, I spoke to a different person at the front desk. At first she said I must have spoken to the weekend person who is new, but it wasn't the weekend when I called. Then she said that it must have been a training issue. I asked what would have happened if his daughter hadn't been there. Where would he have slept? She had no answer. I was told by corporate that Best Western's policy is that rooms can't be paid for in advance unless a form is filled out with a photo of the credit card, copy of my license, etc. I have done this many times for Elders and would have been happy to fill out a form and scan it to the hotel. So why wasn't I told that by the person at the front desk? I do not recommend this hotel.
This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel in Rapid City. Kids love the water park rooms are nice and the breakfast is great! It's very conveniently located to shopping and restaurants.
the pool, hot tub and waterslide were good. my grandkids loved them. But the room was mediocre. the windows were disgusting, we had no sheets or pillow cases for the hide a bed couch and waited until almost midnight to get them. MY grandkids were already sleeping when they finally came. Had to call down the next day to get our room replenished with towels, garbage sacks for the trash cans and toilet paper. after that they seemed to supply them but had to ask at first.
I asked for a handicap room and got one unaccessible for a handicap person. I had to make my way back to the front office, which was a quarter mile away and request another room. They didn't have another handicap room so I got one accessible from the outside but had to wheel over a patch of rocks and the parking was not close by. The room was not as clean as it could have been and there was no continental breakfast.
The whole experience was wonderful. Helpful and kind staff. Clean facilities. Spacious room. Exciting Waterpark.
We use this hotel for a kids swimming weekend. In the past it worked ok. Latest visit was a rip off. Kids like the slides and pool play area. The hotel didn't open the kids pool according to their posted hours. So very disappointing if that is the reason for your visit. Also other little irritations like only one room key, no do not disturb sign for our door, and horrible staff attitudes. Were looking for other options for family swimming weekends.
All staff that we interacted with were wonderful. This was a bereavement trip and the caring attitude started with the manager and was apparent in all staff. Great service all-around and a very kind attitude. Staff was friendly and kind and helped out whenever needed or asked.
Love the spaciousness of their rooms and one floor easy access to most rooms. Comfy beds. Close to several restaurants and good in house bar and food option. Unfortunately today no made to order breakfast. Only the same buffet we have been eating for days on the road. Had been a deciding factor in staying there instead downtown. Too bad we can't rate our neighbors. Banging doors throughout the evening. Common courtesy and being quiet seems to be missing regardless how nice a hotel is these days. Was not the only hotel this has been an issue on the last month of travel. That and leaving barking dogs in the rooms. Sigh.
This hotel exceeded our expecting in quality of food, service and comfort. We will be returning for the hospitality and great amenities. The pools were very enjoyable for our whole family and overall the cleanliness of everything was over the top!
Our family stayed here over New Years Weekend, none of us had a very great experience. The front desk woman was rude, short, and not interested in accommodating us- we were told our rooms would be near each other and they were all over the hotel. Tried to upgrade to a suite and was told since I prepaid for my room (even tho it was a reservation made directly with the hotel, not a third party site), we couldn't upgrade. The fire alarms went off more than once, New Year's Day it was at 6:30am. And the kicker for us, when we pulled back the curtains in our room to let the hot air circulate from under the curtains, we found peeling wallpaper with mold (black color, not sure if ‘black mold') behind all of it. When I told the front desk, all she said is that she would have maintenance check it out
Very kind and friendly staff/ Room was nice! Easy to find/ located near restaurants. Breakfast had a great variety of things to choose from - all of the hot food was tasty. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel. Great value for the price.
Room was dirty. Had to move rooms due to heater not working. Also a dirty room. Towels were dirty food left over from kids Front desk guy very rude when as for blankets. It's 7' degrees out & snowing! Terrible stay!!
This Hotel is very large but easy to navigate. It appears to be an older hotel but well maintained for its age. It is very accessible from I 90 and close to area attractions. However if you are looking for a newer hotel there are many to choose from in the area...and less money. Also a word of caution do not get a room in building E...it is right next to I 90!!! Finally like most hotels these days there is not daily room service.
Rooms were dirty. FD staff are rude. Housekeepers ... not sure they have any, we never saw them in the hall ways. I would choose the other Best Western Plus, which is closer to shopping and restaurants. It's also newer.
Hotel is fine. Clean with all your basic needs met. Not walkable distance to any sights but close to shopping. Restaurant Minerva on-site is great and has fabulous service. Unfortunately the front desk staff, in particular one lady left a bad taste. She was super unhelpful in checking in early which I could forgive due to them being short staffed but she was very short both over the phone as well as in person. On top of not being able to check in a little early (1 hr), they do not securely stow luggage so that you can leave. They just have it in the open lobby where anyone could take your bag. I have NEVER been at a hotel that can't securely store luggage while you wait for check in. Maybe they are only used to people drive in. Would not recommend. The Howard Johnson's in town is way friendlier and closer to the sights anyway. Go there.
Checked in late in the afternoon. Once we got inside our hotel room, we immediately noticed a moldy, musty smell. 2 light bulbs in the bathroom were not working, so it was dim in there. Standing lamp in the bedroom was not working. Tv was not working. Pillows were small. Hallway smelled disgusting. We packed our things and left after 15 minutes of being in the room. Front desk did not refund our money back inspite of telling them that the hotel did not meet our standards/expectations. We chose this hotel for the pool because we had kids with us. But the room was in bad shape and smelled terrible, we cannot keep our kids in there even for 1 night. I am sure there is mold in there. Did not take our shoes off as I'm afraid of what's in those carpets. Never going back and definitely not recommending this hotel to our friends/family. Quickly booked a room at Hilton Garden Inn next block. Everyone took a shower as the moldy smell from Ramkota stuck to our clothes. Gross!
Everything was great. All staff was kind and helpful and room was very clean. The pool was the bonus of the hotel; fun for all ages! Would recommend this hotel if your in the area and especially if you have kids so they can enjoy the free pool waterpark.
Needs updating, our room was gross. Only picked this motel d/t the waterpark, which was a mistake. The water was FREEZING and my kids teeth were chattering in <5mins. Other parents with kids complained too. Spend the extra money and stay at the motels with the Waikiki water park, we wish we would have!
Sad to share that pool surrounding areas were always dirty. No pool towels were available any of the 3 nights. The building parking door was not working so anyone could get in without a key . Our room was not cleaned at all during our whole stay (3 nights)
Bloodied not changed sheets when we walked in. Smelly bathrooms? No clean towels and no one even picked up garbage. Smelly and Moldy place. Gross food. Slept on and not changed pillows. Smelled like a stink head . just overall grossness. Do NOT book
We arrived late, after 1 am and the room assigned was not made up so we returned to front desk and waited for another room to be assigned. We are also informed staff was limited and rooms were not being cleaned each day. In fact we had to pickup towels and supplies (soap) at front desk. Then on third day the entire hotel lost water due to broken water heater, so are were told. I didn't feel like I was at a hotel receiving hotel services.
Excellent location - close to Sturgis, Mt Rushmore, Needles Highway, etc., clean spacious rooms, plenty of parking for trailers and bikes, excellent on site restaurant and bar, nice breakfast buffet on weekends,
They do not care about their guests.. only the housekeeping staff really know how to treat you The front desk is so uncaring and most of them rude even they don't know they are being. Dont stay unless you do not care about what room your in or even if your room is by your family or friends
We complained, asked for lysol or some antiseptic to clean it, got nothing. Should be reported to health department. We were not satisfied in any way, overpriced for Sturgis and not interested in overall appearance of rooms which is shoddy at best.
Great staff, clean room, good breakfast, room in the 1700 area very spacious. Have extra sink, refrigerator and couch with pull out bed. Extra table for eating or dining. Traveled on business and was convenient to interstate.
This is a great place to hold a reunion. We had a 4 day / 4 night reunion here, plus I came back for an extra night before flying home. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Front desk was very pleasant to work with. Great staff all around and, easy to work with. Would stay here again.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Room clean with no maintenance issues. Easy to get to from I90. Ample parking. So glad to be on the ground floor! Restaurant has a really nice menu with reasonable prices and terrific waitstaff. Ordered room service one night which arrived very quickly and food nice and hot. Rate comparison with other hotels in the area shows good value for the cost. No continental breakfast but the restaurant does serve breakfast and I found the prices to be comparable with other restaurants in the area. Plenty of parking. Didn't use the pool as we were gone all day but nice to come back to in the evening to a comfortable room with great internet.
Cross between a hotel and motel and far too close to the busy interstate, I would only stay here if I was travelling and needed a bed for the night. In truth, I was kept awake a lot of the night by road traffic and woken early in the morning for the same reason. No complimentary breakfast to compensate.
This was a very nice hotel. Polite staff, clean rooms, good facilities, however, it is worth mentioning that there isn't a buffet breakfast, but, there is a restaurant. We are elite members and so the breakfast was free. If my understanding of this is correct, you would have to pay if not a member adding to the expense.
Don't ever stay here. Stay anywhere else. Literally anywhere else. It's the most frustratingly inefficient and lowest quality hotel I've ever stayed at and with a terrible (non-free) buffet breakfast offering. I've had better choice of breakfast in other hotels offering it for free. As an example of inefficiency, they give you a room number when you check in but then all the directions to the rooms are based on letters. And staff seem surprised and put out when seemingly EVERY guest ends up asking for directions to the rooms, dragging luggage through the very long corridors to get there. The bed was large and comfortable, but the top sheets were torn. The plastic non-slip mat in the bath was discoloured. Toiletries in the rooms were random - some had shampoos, some didn't. The room alarm clock went off in the early hours. The rooms face out onto the car park so for any privacy curtains need to be closed, which makes the room dark. The hotel itself is not in a good location - awkward to get around without taxi / Uber - I guess it's useful to some being just off the freeway - but the noise from the road is noticeable. I'm just so disappointed in this place and a little bit angry and don't want anyone else to feel the same. I'd never recommend this to family and friends, in fact I'd recommend the opposite. Stay away.
We were in town for 4 days traveling. One evening for dinner we decided to have dinner at the Hotel Restaurant for my husbands birthday. Once we were seated, we had to ask for water, silverware, and a bread basket with dinner (that we saw many other tables had). Our waitress was not super busy but she had a couple of other tables. It just seemed like we were not a high priority. Once the meal was served, she did not come back over and ask how things were going and we did not see her until it was time to pay our bill. Food was good but service was not great.
Our room was disgusting- mold around the toilet.. like fuzzy growing mold. Things falling apart. I never complained because it was one night but we will definitely not stay here again. Our room smelled so bad.
It was awful. Very dirty. Rodent in our room. We chased it out and it went in to the room across the hall. Our bathroom door would not latch closed. There was only 1 bath towel in room. Treated bad by some staff.
Best Western is still a great value. You get everything a bigger chain offers at a more reasonable price. Clean and the staff was very friendly. Had our pets with us, no issues with them. I would highly recommend
Wonderful stay! Cannot thank Kelly and the whole team for such a great experience . Check in was easy, room was clean and comfortable, pool was a lot of fun. Lots of memories made here. Anytime I need a place to stay this will be my go to. Thank you all again!!!
* The bathroom was not clean upon our arrival. * The workout area was very trashy, did not have any clean towels, and did not have any sanitizing wipes to wipe down the equipment. * The pool are was out of clean towels for two days. * The staff was not very helpful when requesting any clean towels.
Chewing gum on bedroom floor. Leaking toilet. Frayed bathroom linens. Poor customer service by desk manager. Food poisoning at restaurant. etc. I would suggest our tour group, Road Scholar, consider another vendor.
Stayed here on the first night of a bus tour. A very pleasant hotel in which to unwind after a day of air travel. The staff was warm and welcoming, the room attractive and clean. Had a very satisfying breakfast in Minerva's. the restaurant in the hotel. Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel entry looks great. It is downhill after that. The hotel rooms are in bad need of a remodel. The restaurant is great. The staff are nice. This hotel is adjacent to a large mall and many dining options.
Recommend being aware the hotel is rather large and sometimes confusing to get around. The parking lot was in disarray due to construction on the roads and the chain store parking lot being dismantled and reconstructed.
Great for adults and children too.The kids loved the hotel's water park.Great location, near everything. There are many historic sites to visit just a short drive from the hotel.Several drives thru the beautiful Black Hills. Mount Rushmore Was our most interesting stop.
Room was not cleaned during our entire 6 day stay , even after 2 requests at the desk and the cleaning lady on our floor ,. We had to get our own Toilet paper , tissues and coffee packs at the front desk and they were not always available No elevators ,I am a disabled Vet and requested a bottom floor room 6 months in advance upon reservations, and was told none available now. No restaurants close.
Very clean it's been a nice place to stay. Wish they had and outdoor pool and breakfast everyday not just Saturdays. The rooms are spacious and it's easy to get places. It's right off the interstate and you can't hear the interstate from your rooms. We are here for a wedding and if we were to ever come back we would stay here again.
Man this place is really terrible... the rooms were very dirty with hair everywhere in bathroom, broken bath faucet and drain, old furniture and it smelled horrible in our room and elsewhere in the hotel. It appeared to not have any updates or cleaning since the 90's. This place is a dump! I wish I had read the reviews better before booking.
This location is dirty and in drastic need of updates, repairs, and housekeepers who actually know how to clean. There is no breakfast provided at this location, so I'd recommend staying elsewhere as you can stay at a much nicer hotel with better amenities and cleanliness for much cheaper.
The room was gross. It looked like it hadn't been updated since the 80's. The sink smelled like dirt when you turn it on. The smell in the hall way reminded me of my great grandmother's apartment. (Stale and like old folks) I am originally from the area and was just back visiting some family but we checked out a day early because of the disarray of the room and went to the Cambria suites which was WAY nicer and was CHEAPER!!! The thing that upset me the most was that when i checked out the lady at the front didnt ask any questions... she just said ok and printed my receipt. She did not care about my experience at all. I will be sure to tell everyone I know in the area that the Best Western is not a nice hotel and to make travel arrangements else where... my mom also works for Visit Rapid City so I will make sure she knows about my experience so other tourists visiting the area don't make the same mistake we did and stay here.
This motel conglomeration is a nightmare. It was originally a Best Western motel which was bought out four times, with each new owner adding on to it. The layout is a frustrating mess. There are areas of this motel where you can't reach other areas through the hallways because of all the additions. You have to leave your room, get in your vehicle, and drive to the area of the motel you need to get to. If you are there for a conference, the motel will split your conference rooms between two areas which means you either can't reach them from your room or you have to walk half a mile to get there. Also, the clerk at check-in will demand to see a credit card for incidentals you may use in your room. There are zero incidentals in the rooms. I said NO, I would not be giving her a CC because it was a work-related trip, and then she tattled on me to the other clerk. Apparently no one has ever said NO to her! After I told her I was there for work, she asked me if I would be using the water park! NO! There were also dead bugs and a live spider in the room so I don't think anyone had stayed in it for some time. I also had a cricket somewhere in the eves near the sliding glass door which made sleeping at night almost impossible. Check out the map schematic before you book a room. It is not worth it!
Our riding club chose this location for our annual convention. This property is HUGH! When the desk clerk gives you your room number, ask which letter building you are in. There are several different buildings connected, lots of rooms, banquet facilities, multiple conversation suited areas with chairs, and excellent place for a convention. We had a ground floor room that was accessible both from the interior and exterior parking area which was awesome allowing us to bring in our luggage and access our motorcycles without the need to walk through long hallways. Our room was clean, modern and comfortable. The staff was kind and helpful, the woman who coordinated the hotel shuttle runs was amazing. The restaurant offered a buffet for breakfast and a salad bar and limited menu for lunch and dinner. There were no vegan options available other than the salad bar or ordering off the menu with changes that didn't always happen. Also, considering the size of the hotel, the convention, and other guests the restaurant seemed understaffed regardless of meal. This facility also has a water park, so if you don't plan to utilize it and want some place quieter ask the front desk. The parking lot needs work, lots of potholes and uneven pavement. Given the amount of rain we had during our stay there was a great deal of standing water so you didn't know how deep the holes were.
I stayed here for a huge motorcycle conference. It is huge and acommondated over 400 attendees. The rooms were large and very clean. Bathroom water pressure and drains were perfect. Beds were comfortable with lots of pillows. The restaurant is excellent and I highly recommend eating there. All the staff were friendly and professional. The hotel shuttle was very helpful.
Clean rooms, friendly, helpful staff. Restaurant had great food, both breakfast and dinner. Banquet food was terrific! Plenty of parking. They set up bike wash stations, buckets, rags. Etc! Shuttle within city limits was key!
Awesome staff! Clean room, comfortable bed and wonderful staff that worked very hard during our groups event at the hotel. Highly recommended. A little pricey for the room, but all hotels in the area are high.
Lobby is pretty. The grounds are not cared for at all, full of weeds and bad or non existent maintenance Room is cramped, not clean, bathroom is from the Bates Motel. Tub not sealed, mold growing, sink is a joke, no room cleaning at all. Bed is from 1950.
The facilities are seriously outdated, run down and the facility "design" can only be described as maze-like. No one who requires a wheelchair or walking assistance should consider this place: there literally is no elevator to access the second floor. The worst part is the parking lot for night time access: if you are traveling alone and may need to go outside at night, find a safer place to stay,
Lots of rooms and plenty of buildings. FREE shuttles (Rapid Shuttle) to and from airport and downtown (BW shuttle). This hotel is far from the city and there is not a lot to do, but Lyft is readily available.
We stayed 5 days, Tuesday to Sunday morning. It was pleasant enough, but clearly not at its best. The room was fine. One service every four days seems a little lackadaisical. We were especially annoyed by the "$13 buffet or nothing" breakfast on the weekends.
Bedding is something we look at before we settle in. There were no bed bugs but we we found was absolutely disgusting. Soiled bedding, stained sheets, and water bottle under the bed. We were moved to another room but the next room had stained sheets as well and crumbs and debris under microwave. We decided to stay as we had driven 16 hours but slept on the cleaner of the two beds. We were told that we could come down and get new sheets as housekeeping had left for the night. It was 6:30. There was no breakfast as all the other Best Westerns we've stayed in and the management there is poor. Would not recommend this place to anyone and would say they need to hire a professional cleaning company and order all new bedding.
I was a bit worried after reading some reviews, but it was better than expected. Fast, easy check in, Room was clean and very quiet (where I was, anyway), beds better than average, Fridge & Microwave. The downsides - no breakfast. (and no TV schedule in the room or guide channel on TV - but, whatever).
We had blood on our shower curtain, and a dog in the room across the hallway that barked ALOT!! Not a peaceful stay! Called the front desk about the dog. He was quiet then, but shortly after he was barking again!
Renovation from floor to ceiling is due. My young children clean better. Used q-tip and can of chew found in night stand, half full bottle of water on bed other small foods all from previous guests. Room keys barely worked anywhere even after changing them.
Not a bad place to stay for the price. No continental breakfast. Rooms could have been cleaner. Bed skirts were ripped on both beds. Cob webs by the curtains, sliding door lock did not work. Floors appeared like they hadn't been vacuumed. The staff was really nice. The pool and water park were wonderful.
We were very happy with our stay here. The room was a good size with very comfortable beds. We had a patio door that led to outside, which was awesome since this was our first trip with our dog. ALL of the staff was helpful, friendly and kind. I truly hope we'll come this way again because we will definitely be staying here!!
First of all, there was dog poop in the hallway, the smell penetrated my room. Secondly, when you leave a wash cloth in the shower and it turns green less than 12 hours later, there is a problem. Thirdly, the blankets had stains on them in pretty much all the rooms. Fourthly, the hotel was musky moldy smelling, as if the place should be condemned. If it wasn't for the conference being there we would have been out of there in a heartbeat. Finally, the room keys, at what point do you all need to figure out a better system so everyone doesn't need to redo their room keys daily. The rooms are a mile away from the desk it gets a little exhausting to keep going back and forth to get a new room key. The only ok thing there was front desk, restaurant, and bar staff were fairly helpful.
Peeling ceiling paint. Mold. Tile falling off wall. Noisy kids running through hall. Obnoxious housekeeping banging on door before checkout time. Two page waiver form to use swimming pool. Hand written signs, "don't do this...don't do that..." all over the place. Breakfast in hotel restaurant includes coffee or juice, but not both. Late checkout? "We don't do that." This is not a standard Best Western, and I recommend you choose another one instead.
We got our room and 1st thing we saw was a dried up orange peel on the floor at the foot end of the bed. Plus the floor at the head ends of both beds by the headboard were covered with dirt, dust, food, snacks and probably hadn't been cleaned in months, maybe longer. The shower curtain wouldn't stay closed and would spray water on the floor and door.
Love how your hotel is so open and everyone's always friendly and helpful Rooms are always fresh and clean my only wish is a lil continental breakfast in the mornings the coffees great too I recommend this hotel to all my family and friends near and far
This hotel is beautiful clean and has so much to do both inside the hotel and around it. Location is great. Staff was friendly kind and helpful. Pool was warm! ( especially after the water park which was understandably a little chilly) the hot tub was So warm! A lot of hotels turn down the hot tub and only warm the pool a bit but Best Western was sooo warm and enjoyable! We will definitely be returning soon!
If you are traveling with a pet you can't use any of the extras of the hotel as you aren't allowed to take the pet anywhere or leave it alone in the room. The pet friendly room is also next to the pool (ours was) and that caused my dog to want to bark a lot do to the high traffic.
I was met with a smiling friendly face. I was immediately assisted. The front desk called me to make sure everything was alright! I would recommend this to anyone. It was very convenient to have the restaurant within walking distance. There was construction going on but the hotel was courteous enough to let us know they closed the road down at 9 p.m. so we weren't stuck trying to find another way into the hotel. Courtesy is very appreciated!
We had some ants and box elder bugs in our room. In the bathroom and had box elder bugs in the bed at night. The TV remote control didn't work very well. The property appeared very nice. Pool area was good
We have stayed at the Ramkota three times and enjoyed it every time. Our grandkids have a free throw contest in Rapid and this is where the lodging is. The banquets are always very good. And the kids love the pool.
Hotel is overpriced for the area with NO breakfast included. Safety equipment for pool (throwing ring) was broken and can fail if actually had to be used causing a potential drowning. Hot tub was dirty for 3 days with grease ring around the top and body grease in foam. Pool and hot tub had clumps of hair. Very disgusting. Room bathroom sink was clogged and would not drain, bed valance was ripped and blankets had multiple stains on both beds. VERY DISAPPOINTED and will express the findings in negative reviews of hotel as well as not recommend stay at that location to the travelers. Hallways dirty and trash left for the days we stayed (4 days). Kids water park was in ok condition and good for kids but water very cold. Big slides only open AFTER 4:00PM so no enjoyment during the day.
The room was clean and very spacious. The breakfast was a definite plus. Friendly and helpful staff. Even though my room was close to the pool, I was not bothered by any noise from the hallway. I got a good night sleep.
We stayed at this hotel while visiting family in Rapid City. We stayed two nights and booked it specifically for the pool area. We wanted the kids to be able to swim and hangout together since it's the winter and there is nothing for them to do outside. The receptionists are nice enough but don't seem too professional. You have to ask for towels for the pool at the front desk after providing proof that you are staying there. The room was spacious that we got. I know others are not. The bathroom was equipped with four towels, two hand towels, and one wash cloth. There were three pillows to a bed which seemed to be almost travel pillows as there were small and flat. The beds weren't fully made as they were covered with flat sheets instead of fitted sheets. Some of the doors didn't lock from the outside so it wasn't as secure is possible. The waterpark area was nice but the room was cold and the water was freezing.
We go there every New Years for a family celebration. This year, I reserved 2 rooms & requested conjoining rooms, as close to the pool as possible, as I normally do. We get there & our rooms are not conjoining & as far away from the pool as they could possibly get. Not to mention in an unattached building - so we'd freeze after swimming going back to the rooms. I did manage to get 2 conjoining rooms closer, but it cost more. Upon entering the rooms, we discovered a large stool floating in the toilet, blood on one of the pull-out couch mattresses, boogers on the bathroom wall, paint on the other pullout couch sheet that was already covering it, something that looks like remnants of previous party decorations hanging from the ceiling, some brown staining on the sheets under the pillows on one of the beds, and one of the bathroom ceilings had evident repair work, but now the patch job has obvious water/moisture damage (bubbled and coming away from the ceiling) that looks like it could possibly contain mold underneath (the exhaust fan did not work). When contacting the front desk, the only response we were given was to have the issues passed on to management next week. I do have pictures of everything, except for the large resident turd, if you would like to see them.
We didn't mind our room. It was older, but was clean and spacious. Our little boys liked the pool and the slides. The hot tub was dirty and also some of the hallways were dirty as well. We wanted to check out a little late, but we're told we couldn't. We ate breakfast at the restaurant connected and it was terrible. We paid 12.99 per adult and 6.99 per kid, even for one that was 2. The food was buffet style and was old and barely warm.
Would not recommend. It's dirt and the non smoking rooms smell of smoke. The main attraction to booking was the pool and the hot tub. The hot tub water looked funky and we didn't use it. We had our young children with us and the bathtub in our room was also very dirty. We opted for a quick shower. With the price point of this hotel there are way better options in Rapid that also have water parks. Don't waste your money.
After a long day of driving we stopped to get a room. Online the price was listed at around 70. However I ended up paying 150 because that was a “Special” online rate. While we head to the room we have to walk through people loitering around the door to the part of the building we are housing in who are smoking and vaping as well as doing medicinal smoking. Once we get past that we entered a hallway that smelled like a dumpster with piles of trash left in the hall. On finding our room we find the door is ajar and lights are already on. We have no clue if someone had be or was currently in our room as I entered to check it. Before settling down to rest we find trash behinf the curtain and old food left on the floor as well as old undergarments under the sink in the bathroom. I took photos of the trash in the room and hall and the clothes in the bathroom and went to the front desk to talk to the manager. There wasn't one on duty until the following day. When I was able to talk to the manager the following morning all I was offered was a paper bag with two 50 cent bags of chips, stale cookies and a couple of bottles of water. I had expected that they would at least pro rate our stay and give me a half refund of the 150 I had to pay. However they did no such thing. I was on a special trip with my daughter and didn't have time to stand there and argue even though I felt like we had been screwed over.
We loved this hotel. Only planned to stay one night in Rapid City, but liked the hotel so well we extended for a second night. The pet friendly rooms have a back door inside the room that leads to a grassy courtyard. So convenient. We weren't traveling with kids, but for those who do, there is a nice indoor water park with slides and fountains. The restaurant in the lobby has great food and friendly service. Try the salmon salad. You won't regret it. Also, this hotel is only a short drive to Mt Rushmore. Over all a great hotel and if I'm ever in Rapid City again, I will definitely stay here.
DO NOT GO TO RAMKOTA BEST WESTERN HOTEL We just spent with other 200 people, a whole week for a conference. It is the worst hotel we have ever been, no service of any style, not even for delivering clean sheets, or towels. Came to the room it was sooo dirty we had to request celaning at midnite, which they would not do, but they did nopt do it during daytime either. Filthy, little roaches, bugs in bathroom , kitchen and windows. The worst of the worst.DO NOT LOOSE YOUR MONEY THERE, we had prepayed, had no choice........terrible
Ramkota used to be the "best" place to stay in Rapid City, with clean rooms, an awesome pool for kids, and good location right off I-90. The hotel is clearly suffering from lack of updates. Many rooms are not in good condition, the exterior of the building is falling apart, doors to get into the hotel were broken so we'd be stuck in the parking lot unless someone let us in or left the door propped. The parking lot was full of pot holes we had to try to avoid. It is overpriced, considering you pay less and get more amenities, nicer rooms, and better service at plenty of other places. If you really want a great pool for kids, just pay to go visit Watiki.
Perfect place for a stop over our trip, clean and great location for visiting Mt Rushmoore and Crazy horse, also pet friendly. Good size back yard for your furry friend. Friendly staff and quick check in and check out.
So check in..4pm? Nope. Room wasn't ready til 5pm plus but Allie helped us get to the pool for our daughter's party. The girl in the pool area selectively checks bracelets when she's not staring at her phone or BS with her friends. Once we got in our room we got not once, twice but 5 times, offering to come get the sheets for the hideaway bed which for some reason were not in the room. Each time we were told they were coming. We started calling at 7pm. At 830pm I was finally told she couldn't get them because it was in the housekeeping closet and security would bring it at 9pm when he comes. 920pm, called again and she said he just got there?! No apologies AT ALL. I would like to put my kids to bed and I'm still waiting. The picture is of the lights in the bathroom that keep turning on and off on their own. This. Is. RIDICULOUS!
Check in and reservations were so quick and easy! The room was wonderful and we slept so well! They accommodated us with our 18 lb dog by making the walk area close to our room and welcomed her with no problems!
We were put into a room that hadn't been cleaned, and to avoid waiting who knows how long for a staff member to get us a new room, I had to go to the opposite end of the hotel to get new keys, because they were understaffed on a Friday night. After a very long day I just wanted to get to my room and relax, but this was probably the worst hotel experience I've ever had. This place is a maze. And nothing was clean. Lights were not working outside doors, which was concerning considering we were at the back of the hotel. I can't believe what they charged for that crappy stay. It may as well have been a $40 motel. The kind of place you check for bed bugs. We also heard that others had a mouse, a leaking ceiling, and stained linen. Staff was friendly and helpful. The staff gets 10/10. The hotel and the people running it get 1/10.
My reserved room type was unavailable at check-in. I was given a BS excuse about third-party reservation systems (I booked direct...weeks in advance!) Was stuck in a tiny, dim, stinky room first night, made to vacate that room by 11AM next morning and wasn't allowed to check into my correct room type until after 5PM that day. Was refused a room key for my family to access the pool while we waited because it's "against policy." Last night there the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night for over an hour. Never again....
Moved to 4 different rooms, first one was already occupied by other people. 2nd room had mouse running across the TV stand. (they told us they'd bring us a trap). 3rd room had bed bug larvae all over the floor. Tried to move to a different hotel but none were available with the buffalo roundup going on. This place is disguising and should be shut down!
Nice hotel in a beautiful town. 200 of us were there for a meeting and for the most part were treated like dirt or outwardly ignored. Should fire everyone in the restaurant and replace with people that are not rude. Just about everyone I came in contact with was dismissive and snotty.
We were on a tour and the first 2 nights were here. This hotel was a poor choice. Firstly, we arrived late Sunday afternoon and the restaurant in the hotel was not open on Sundays. The best choice was a Mexican restaurant about a block down a hill. It was fine, but the walking with part of the sidewalk closed was a challenge. The room - the bathroom in Room 1314 was terrible. The corner of the tub was actually broken off along with part of the wall, the shower curtain had brown stains on it about half way up, and the bathroom door had pieces missing from the bottom. I think the hotel was planning a remodel, but they should not book a tour when the rooms to be occupied are in such b ad condition. At the desk, I overheard another guest complainiong about the state of her room. She said she had never had this kind of problem with a Best Western before.
The desk clerk was patient and walked me through everything. Everyone was helpful. The rooms were great and the hot tub was amazing. Me and my friends had a great experience for our first time checking into a hotel under our own names.
Great location with lots of nearby shopping and restaurants. The hotel could use a complete remodel. The buildings are old and outdated. The room had a musty odor and pet dander was visible on the carpet. There is no elevator so if you're on the 2nd floor you have to use the stairs. A lot of the 1st floor rooms have two entry doors - one leading to the hallway and another leading outside.
Rented 2 rooms. Both smelled of mold. Sheets were stained. Wallpaper is peeling off wall in sheets. Toilets dirty and both shower drains backed up immediately during our first showers resulting in an ankle deep pool.
Excellent place to stay. 2nd trip to Sturgis, stayed at the same hotel and same room. Our room had a little kitchen, nice living room area, dining room area, bed very comfortable. The pillows were awesome, which is important for a good nights sleep.
We booked this literally last minute as our driving plans changed earlier in the day. Pleasantly surprised with how Best Western has ramped up their game. Roomy rooms, comfy beds, good breakfast., Great check in service. Highly recommend.
This is the second Ramkota owned hotel in South Dakota in which we stayed. The first one in Sioux Falls is a mess; way too big, so they have to bring in local sports teams of the area to try to get reasonable occupancy. And they use non-approved BW materials and supplies to cut their costs, but not their rates. The place should be torn down and rebuilt. The Ramkota Hotel for this review is in Rapids City.. Again, the place is huge, but this hotel seems to follow the BW policies much better. The rooms were decent, the overall building was well-maintained and the hotel is attached to a very good restaurant and bar. Of course this means no complimentary breakfast. The value was terrible, $250ish a night, but of course Sturgis had the bike riders. We would stay at this hotel again when rates are more reasonable for a BW.
We chose this hotel because of the water park. The room, hallways and pool were very clean! Comfy bed, and my kids had a blast in the shallow pool! We checked out very early and there was coffee in the lobby which was a plus
Check in staff was extremely nice. The room was clean without the overpowering bleach smell I've noticed at some hotels. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip out west. Good value on the room.
The hotel has great rooms with eating area, fridge and microwave. The bathroom floor wasn't that clean and the hide a bed had dirty sheets on it. I know the new normal is no maid service but this hotel means it. I asked for towels and bedding. I was told they would drop off bedding, which I had to change the sheets and drive to get the towels. Garbage was to be put out in the hallway. If this is the new normal I would suggest larger garbage cans. We had to buy bags for our garbage because it adds up over 4 days. So it was an ok hotel
This place is perfectly located with a good restaurant, a pool and a water park. Tons of parking and many things close by. You can't walk downtown from here - not enough good sidewalks, but it's about 10 minutes away. The rooms are well-appointed and very clean. The staff is great. The only issue is how confusing it is to find your room. Tip - make a point of noticing the art or features near the turn for your room. That will help. We were on buffalo lane.
We stayed here mainly because of the water park for our kids and because the hotel supposedly takes part in "enhanced cleaning/we care clean" procedures. And at almost $250/night I expected so much better. The waterpark was cool but a complete "nut house" with absolutely no supervision. Kids running around everywhere, multiple kids and too small of kids going down the slides at a time. I'm surprised there aren't some serious injuries here. Our room was gross. Hair in the bathroom and shower, dirty windows, hand prints all over furniture and doors, an inch thick of dust on the bathroom vent and I even found a dark brown stain on my folded up towel. We expressed our dissatisfaction with Hotwire (who we booked/paid through.) They called the hotel and spoke with Judy at the front desk and they were not willing to do anything for us. I've also contacted Best Western Corp with no response so now I'm leaving my honest review.
This was a cozy hotel in a great location. The staff was friendly, the accommodations clea, bed was very comfortable and I would return! Staff was knowledgeable. Bus rides were timely. That is the best compliment!
We had multiple faulty key cards and another couple walked into our room with key cards to our room! The staffed didn't even seem to care. Upon check out the supervisor said the manager would call us when she arrived but never happened. The hotel is outdated, the locks/key cards rarely work and the staff does not seem engaged at all.
Found fecal matter sprayed al over the toilet seat upon checking in. Staff sent a bottle of cleaner and rags so I could sanitize the room myself. Doubt the room was sanitized before I check in. No towels upon checking in. Terrible pillows, had to buy 2 from Walmart. Avoid Building B near the water park; smell of chorine in the hall and kids running up and down the hall at all hours. Good wifi connection, pleasant staff and the attached restaurant was quite good.
Taking a long driving trip along I 80 and I 90. This was the most disappointing of the places that I have recently stayed. Missing a number of things that I was expecting. Had to ask fir a washcloth. No conditioner. No Kleenex. No morning complimentary breakfast. In all fairness, this place seemed to be a bit of a conference and/or pool destination. 2 large conference rooms. Indoor pool with water slide. Hotel restaurant. I have a feeling that they make there money off of the activities I just noted and not the road traveler. They did not have a complimentary breakfast because they did not want their restaurant to lose business. National chain restaurants in a mall area had waits up to 1 1/2 hours. Would not go there again.
Hotel was fine. The water park was aimed at younger kids than I was expecting, but the larger than normal pool was nice. Stay was fine. No continental breakfast but lots of dining options very close. Easy to get to but a little far if you are mostly going south (i.e. Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, etc.). However, we also went north and west (Devils Tower, Spearfish) so the more central location was nice.
The hotel wasn't as pictured on website…much older and worn out. The back door entrance isn't even a secured door and was dark at night…lock was broken off. Coffee in lobby empty often. Room wasn't very clean. It took several stops to desk to get batteries replaced in tv remote…had to call maintenance as they didn't change batteries. Water park had nobody at top of slide to monitor kids. Some going down too soon or doubling up with other kids…not safe.
Stayed a few nites in building D. Room was clean, I would recommend shower curtain liner being changed as it was discolored and shower head could use some CLR. Towels were good quality. Stayed on first floor so it was super convenient being able to move stuff from my patio out to my car without going thru the hallways. No elevator. No housekeeping service currently due to covid. There is a kids Waterpark and swimming pool that were great. Pool water was foggy though so the chemicals needed to be more balanced. We only heard a few hallway noises so sleep quality was good even though all the pillows were hard. No continental breakfast. I believe BW has policy where if there is a restaurant on site that offers breakfast they don't have to do continental breakfast. Parking is plenty.. Price was fair for what there was.
The kids loved the pools and slides, but the chlorine content was so high it was difficult to be in the pool area for long. More importantly, the rooms were never cleaned properly even after we took the problem to the front desk. The floors were not swept or mopped (including the bathroom) prior to our arrival. We told the attended of the problem and asked for it to be cleaned while we were out the next day. It was never done. It was also an incredibly loud hotel, with kids yelling and running down the halls at all hours of the night.
This hotel is very dated and unclean! We had bugs and mice in our room (outside entrances to rooms do not help!). Staff did not respond to concerns that night and did not provide options for other rooms/cleaning. Stay elsewhere in Rapid City!!!
This is a nice place, it has been updated and has a great bar and restaurant. Close off the freeway easy access and close to shopping and other restaurants. It was very busy with travelers now out after COVID-19 and people were loud in the halls at night, but that's why I never leave ear plugs behind
I'm really surprised to see some negative reviews. I have to believe that this place has been recently updated because my experience was amazing. The entire place is clean and crisp. The roof was soundproof and the AC worked great. The swimming pool is amazing. I was alone but wish my daughters were with me. The pool in incredible for kids. I am driving across country from WA and so far this is the best hotel by far. The nearby park is absolutely amazing too. I want to move to this cool little town.
Pam, the head of housekeeping called right away to let us know when she had found our item we left behind in the room. She was extremely helpful and super friendly! Nice rooms, greatgreat quality. Kids enjoyed the pool.
Water pressure in shower was low. No kleenex. Noise was horrible from truck drivers parking in parking lot and running their trucks all night; teenagers working on cars in parking lot and revving engines at night. Specifically asked for conjoined rooms-after booking almost a month out.
We had a great experience at this hotel. The water slides were awesome. We had a suite in building G and it was pretty spacious with a dining table and a counter with a wet bar and mini fridge. The rooms were beautifully decorated and modern. The air conditioning worked great which was important as it was in the 90s! The location is great close to 90.
This place is in need of updates but they really need new and more sheets as well as mattress pads! One way to make a place better is with it's bedding seriously. Our king bed had a thin flat sheet instead of a fitted sheet. I started neatly stripping the bed seeing I wanted a fitted sheet. No the flat sheet situation there would not have worked. It may have been a Queen flat sheet. Peaking out from the side of the mattress was a thin and scummy mattress pad. On further inspection the mattress pad was worn thin and should have been tossed probably 4 years ago. I called to have a fitted sheet sent. A gal finally came with a set of sheets. They were queen sheets, a queen fitted sheet. I went to go get a the correct size fitted sheet and on way to front desk passed by the laundry room. The door was open. No sheets to be found on shelves. Washer and dryer full. Clearly not enough people are hired and have been given a impossible job to do in the amount of time. (Hint pay them more). We left for dinner and asked for the fitted sheet, mattress pad and 2 pillows for when we got done with dinner. The front desk manager and all personal were nice. The on-site restaurant makes the whole stay here. Only 2 stars because you guys need to replace your bedding and you need more of it! I am trying to add 3 photos of the mattress pad.
The family stayed here for a night, while passing through Rapid City. They offer a great water park for the kids, plus a separate large pool. These are great for the kids to burn off energy and have fun. The room was spacious and clean, HOWEVER don't plan on getting a good nights sleep. The walls are paper thin, so when you have screaming babies and kids in the hallway after midnight and before 6am, you're going to hear it all. Beds are so so, pillows are small and lumpy. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again, but the kids enjoyed the water park. Check in was long, they definitely have enough guests, location is ideal, but your odds of being well rested in the morning are slim.
We had to go get our own towels daily from the front desk. After 4 days and 2 requests I finally got clean sheets. Very poorly managed. The front desk was always short handed. Sometimes we had to go back several times to get towels and wash clothes because they were out.
This hotel lives off selling it has a water park, the beds are $100 Walmart mattress's and the walls are as thin as a freshman high school paper. Oh and if your hungry in the morning feel free to try their rundown restaurant with a $13 buffet that has powdered eggs cold sausage and that is it folks. I'd rather stay at a extended stay then this disaster of a hotel. Never thought I could be more underwhelmed
Or room booked for four had four pillows, three bath towels, two cups, one coffee, zero lids, and an air filter that likely hadn't been cleaned since before covid. I got to listen to multiple people coughing throughout the night thanks to the thin doors. I won't be staying here again.
Great location off I-90. Many restaurant choices within 5 minutes, including one at the hotel. Easy access onto property and great hospitality staff, friendly and very accommodating. Reasonable prices for a tourist destination.
This was by far the best meeting that we have had. The staff was exceptional no matter what we asked; in fact they kept coming into the meeting/hospitality room and asking if there was anything they could do for us. The room we had was very clean and comfortable. The restaurant was clean and the staff was great to work with.
We used to live this hotel but COVID has definitely hurt their quality and service. Please be aware there is a man living on the back side of building B he has exterior access to the parking lot and it is a safety hazard. There is also a company van with a broken out window on that side of the building. This used to be a clean easy quiet option instead of the watiki hotels but I would definitely encourage management to put in some serious efforts in the safety and cleanliness of the hotel.
Could not get maid service during a four night stay, This means for 4 days I had two towels and the same bedding. As well, this means no vacuuming the carpet, cleaning the bath room or emptying the trash. Even better, the carpet had dirt from the last visitor that was not cleaned up.
Disgusting and dirty. We moved rooms, but it wasn't much better. We stayed for the water park, that was never operational while we were there. However, there marquee continued to advertise it. Not to mention they never told us, so we could have chosen a different place to stay.
It's very disgusting - the shower liner was full of gunk and was yellow. The corner of the rooms still had dirt (mouse poop and crumbs) The bed blankets weren't washed (had red residue on them) The walls were dirty and gross! Kids screaming and slamming doors at 11pm - the pool looks like it's about to give out.
Easy online reservation, pet friendly environment, great customer service, smooth check in and out, and the kids had a blast in the waterpark. The toilet in our room backed up twice, but a quick call down for maintenance and it was quickly resolved. Thank You!
The slides at the waterpark were not working. There was no communication to guests prior to arrival or while we were there letting us know that there would be an issue. The water in the waterpark area was freezing - and I mean freezing. The deck was littered with various garbage and debris.
Everything we needed for a quick get-away! Very accomodating and comfortable. We had a room that also had outside access for convenience to vehicle & walking distance shopping. Great food and pool access. The hotel was very busy this weekend but very comfortable & relaxing time!
When we went to check in there was a line, waited about 15 minutes to get checked in. Room was not clean, stains on bedspread, boogers on walls and shower curtain, old food (pizza crust) under beds. The staff in the pool area was completely complacent, staring at their phones the whole time. No towels in pool area. Front desk notified but no one brought any, had to go to the front desk to get towels. Beds were insanely hard. We booked about a month in advance and had no idea there was a basketball tournament taking place, halls were full of young people screaming and running. Just a really frustrating experience overall. No continental breakfast, we were told to order food from attached restaurant at exorbitant prices.
I really enjoyed my stay and so did my family. We will definitely be staying here again and next time hopefully to bring the whole family because they will really enjoy staying here too. Hopefully we will be back soon
If it wasnt for the pool area and my grandson loving their whole set-up I would have chosen another hotel. The room was by far the worst in cleanliness......mousetrap set up by the bed, microwave still had food particles in it, toilet plugged up on us, customer service by housekkeepers was terrible, stairwell area and hallways was extremely filthy.
The main areas of the hotel are clean, but the room itself was not clean. The sheets have hair from the previous person, the floor had dirt, and the bathroom was sketchy. The pool and hot tubs are packed with people, and the cleaning is not maintained in those areas to keep up with the flow of people. Pretty sure we saw someone's puke floating in the water and skipped out on using it.
This place is large, has plenty of amenities and is generally convenient to much of the area. BUT, apparently a simple request of a QUIET room means, the room on the parking lot side next to the entrance door for the wing. I understand if the hotel was fully booked, and there is a shortage of rooms. But, this has happened here twice in a row months apart. Pandemic has slowed occupancy of rooms considerably, and STILL the QUIET part seems to indicate getting a lousy location.
All staff very friendly & courteous , Matt Wendt went beyond making us feel welcome to the best western motel. Great food with very reasonable prices in the restaurant. Happy hour in the bar was a lot of fun with friendly bartenders. Happy hour prices of food & drink were excellant. Rooms were very updated & beautifully decorated.
Our Wrestling Team stayed here and were treated very well, Staff Polite and Hotel was very clean. Only downfall was due to COVID no dailty cleaning or towels. Had to go to front desk to get towels. But they did tell is this at check in so we knew to live with it.
My Gsons and I enjoyed our weekend stay and we will definitely be back. Thank you. We loved the comfort of the beds, the pool, my family enjoyed the slides. I will highly recommend your establishment to my friends, family and, coworkers.
The staff here was extremely rude. We got there and they charged us a much higher rate than we had booked online for, and refused to change it. Neighbors next door were up all night partying and extremely loud. We will never stay here again.
Motel is really nice, but the night we stayed it was really Noisy, people on our floor section C, were slamming There doors, hollering in the hallway, the kids where screaming and running up and down the hall, till after midnight, my wife asked me to notify management but we didn't. Now that I think about it we should've.
Stayed in October, had dirty room and a USED tampon on our bathroom floor, tried again in December, had another dirty room with tons of body hair all over the bedding.. disgusting. Never stay there!!!
12-20-20 We stayed at Ramkota, in Rapid City last night, Dec. 19, 2020. We usually stay at Ramkota, while we are in Rapid, and have done so, 4 times, this year. I have to say, last night, will be our last. We had awful neighbors, next to us - door slamming until about 6:00 this morning, loud, foul language, kids in and out all night, yelling, and the most uncourteous people we have ever stayed next to. I did ask the people next to us, multiple times to quiet down, to which I was told, “We are doing laundry, white bitch.” I understand that I should have called the front desk and maybe asked to be moved last night, but since my own children were asleep, I did not want to bother with it. When my husband woke up this morning, a mouse ran across the floor in our room. My 6 year old told me that she saw a mouse when she woke up, but I thought there was no way! I was wrong and she was right! It scurried along the wall, as soon as my husband turned the light on this morning. Upon check in yesterday the front desk clerk was very friendly and quick and when I told her that we needed pillows and bedding for the pull out bed, the maintenance gentleman, brought both to our room and was very kind. I do not usually share reviews, or post reviews on social media, but I would not want any other hard working family to waste their money, the way that we did last night. I also find it really disgusting that there is a restaurant attached to this particular hotel, which obviously has a mouse problem. After dealing with the rude people next to us, and seeing the mouse this morning, I couldn't leave Ramkota fast enough today. I am pretty disappointed.
I really like how friendly the staff was I appreciate the nice dedicated workers I like the cleanness of the room and housekeeping with great and the pool was very clean. So friendliness of the securities workers really helped and made sure it was safe
Very polite front desk people. Quick and efficient check in considering the line of people. Very nice setup for pets. We had a patio door that went to middle courtyard, which made it very convenient for the pups.
Absolutely awesome. The waterpark is just like the pictures. My kids ages 2-7 loved it. The rooms were clean and quite. Plan on staying here again. I took one star off because the bathrooms have alot of wear and tear (water damage peeling paint on door and ceiling, rusty bathtubs).
Great location and staff. Clean property and accommodating amenities. Restaurant has excellent menu and the best salad bar. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff is always helpful and friendly. The location is ideal for our needs as it is close to the interstate.
We are traveling all through the states for a honeymoon and best Western has been number one for accommodating us late check in and Comfortable stays. We have decided that we are only going to use best Western
The overall stay was really good, the only major problem was the noise at night. Between other people staying running around, and even an employee vacuuming right outside our door at like 11 at night. Other than that, really nice hotel and close to major things in Rapid.
I had things to do so I brought my dog. He love it.which made it easier on me.ive never experienced so nice of people towards a pit bull.i was proud of how no one judged him.then every one loved.very nice experience
If you are looking for a great hotel, I highly recommend The Best Western Ramkota in Grand Rapids, South Dakota. The customer service is excellent, they go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant stay. They have a great restaurant as well. Sort distance from town. Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse are about a 45 minute drive. There is a Mexican restaurant close the hotel, about a 5 minute walk. You will be pleasantly surprised with the reasonable price for a room. Book now.
The Hotel staff was great and kind of "watched over us" as travelers from another State. They scheduled the transportation from the airport on our departure day and and called again to assure that they were coming without asking.
Videotaped bugs in room with housekeeper that was sent to kill them. Brought a few bugs to hotel General Manager who refused to visit the room or help. He said that he, "Couldn't guarantee that a new room wouldn't have bugs or would be cleaner." I wish I read other reviews on dirty conditions at this location prior to booking. Filthy hotel with piles of garbage and dirty linens lining hallways at 5 pm. We were charged for room. Still waiting for Best Western to intervene and help us.
Room was adequate for a night's sleep if you didn't mind cigarettes. Great location to highways, restaurant in main building. Parking was a bit of hassle. Beds and pillows comfy. Shower pressure was also good.
Was a great stay . Room was nice . The kids had a blast at the waterpark. Only wish the hot tub was a little bigger. All in all a good experience. We definitely will be staying there again in the future if we head that way for vacation again.
We are from the east coast and were traveling through South Dakota. While staff were wearing masks, many were below their noses. Front desk staff removed their mask to speak with us. When we entered the lobby, over 10 people were congregated with no masks. Two other parties were checked in ahead of us with no masks, and staff said nothing to anyone (despite signs that masks were required). Given Best Western's stated policy that they will be following safety protocols, we were extremely disappointed with the safety here. We stayed at 16 hotels across the US, and this was the only one where we felt really unsafe.
The minute we walked in the door the service was soup to nuts the best we have incountered on our trip. We were able to check in five hours early. Do laundry, use the pool and hot tub. Fabulous for families water park on premises. Small slot machine area my Husband had fun. Large restaurant and bar (Minervas) Great cocktails & service. Menu looks great.
Multiple day stay with 2 adults and 2 kids under 10 in the oversized king suite. Nice size room for family of 4, wet bar was great, a table with 4 chairs so we could all sit down for meals was a good bonus. Double sinks in the clean and tidy bathroom! One king bed, one pull out sofa. No balcony. COVID cleaning procedures were excellent. Any time we needed clean towels or garbage bags, they were delivered right to our door. Masks are required walking in hotel hallways and lobby. Kids loved the water park area, never felt crowded. Location off of I90 was perfect as we traveled to different parks and places during our time in South Dakota. Drawbacks: while the barn door on the bathroom is aesthetically pleasing, it would not stay shut. I saw more of my family's business than I needed to. Also, the room door and outside doors needed to be pulled shut to lock. If you let the door shut on it's own, it would remain unlocked. And finally, the hot tub in the pool area was disappointing during our stay: warm but no bubbles. We'd stay again in a different room style.
Stayed during beginning of Bike week so hotel was full. Hotel was wonderful but some of the guests had young children running thru the halls screaming early in the morning 2 out of 5 days. Other than that it was a really wonderful stay and I highly recommend this hotel.
We stayed here mainly for the little water park which actually had 2 large slides for older kids and about 4 smaller slides for the younger ones. The hotel itself was a pleasant surprise. Best Westerns back home are, how to put it nicely, usually fairly dumpy. This one however was well maintained and the rooms were up to date and clean. Also pretty easy access on and off the highway. Overall it was an enjoyable stay.
My daughter and myself had spent the day at the Badlands and other places of interest during the day. We were on a tight schedule, so got to Rapid City in the evening. We were exhausted and just wanted to relax. We had brought some snacks along to munch on during our drive. That is what we ended up eating in the room, because everything is so scattered out. Many separate buildings. We had to drive all the way around to the back of a building to park. First off, the TV remote didn't work. we had to manually change channels , with the up/down, volume up/down buttons on the TV itself. The sink stopper wasn't hooked up. In order to drain the sink, you had to manually try and pry up the stopper a crack. There was no tissue holder or exhaust fan in the bathroom. My daughter was going to try and find the lobby to report all of this, but finally came back to the room and said, lets just go to bed and get some sleep. I can't find my way out of here to get to the lobby.. And she was not about to drive around to try and find the front of the building, to go to the Lobby. The next morning we got up and headed to Hot Springs, SD, to conclude our business along the way. That night we stayed at a NO NAME place, in Hot Spring, SD. Had a very nice room, also cheaper, that had a tissue holder. exhaust fan, a TV remote that worked. Normally we like staying at a Best Western, but with the bad experience we had this year and also last year at a Best Western on our way to Texas, We may just change our minds about staying at a Best Western. Last year on our trip to Texas, we stayed at this Best Western, going and coming home, because it was half way. Both times we had a bad experience at the motel. That time I did bring it up to the desk, because it was still early in the evening. But nothing did get resolved that night, during our stay.
This is a nice location and has a nice small waterpark. It has two slides and a pirate ship play area, not huge but it was perfect and kept our kids ages 6-12 busy and happy! There was also an additional pool. There wasn't much social distancing that was happening in the pool area. This is a large hotel and our key cards often didn't work. Also it rained really hard while we were there and water was dripping in our windows like crazy and they just gave us towels to wipe up the water. Also I called for pillows and blankets at 10:00 and they said it would be a long time before they had any ready for us? Breakfast was a nice bag lunch with fruit, granola bars, muffin and water. There was also a restaurant on site that had a good selection. Despite some upkeep that could be done i would definitely stay here again.
Room was very clean, pool was comfortable and it was great that there was a separate area for kids. Just off interstate 90 and close to downtown rapid City. Easy to get to Mt. Rushmore/Black Hills area.
This property is in a nice location and the staff really works hard to try to accommodate guests, but ultimately, it's just not that pleasant. The property is really spread out which makes it difficult for staff to really police the grounds: we had screaming kids running up and down the halls at 6:30 am. The pool and water park areas were overcrowded. They have two hot tubs: one at the same temp as the pool and the other with about 10 guests sitting shoulder to shoulder. Due to Coronavirus, they offer no housekeeping. For replacement towels, you need to request them from the front desk. And then you have to be specific about what you need: towel, hand towel, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, etc. Why not just leave all that stuff at the door once a day or just provide everything the minute you check in? It seems like a no brainer if your guest is staying 4 nights to provide them with more than 1 little shampoo bottle. I was just looking forward to moving on to the next hotel after that experience.
This staff and facility are first rate and an amazing value for a family. Indoor water park slide open and outdoor pool w safe distancing a blast for our kids. Clean and nice rooms with generous breakfast to go bags. Fun bar and grill on site. Great overall experience.
Have no idea what the bad reviews are all about. My stay was fantastic as was Jane, the kind lady who works at the front desk. Will definitely stay here again. The rooms are big and clean and the AC blows cold:)
When we checked in, the front desk clerk was very hurried. There was no information about wifi, the pool, or anything. When we got to our room, there were no towels or wash cloths. I called the desk and a man brought them about 30 min later. There was a weird smell to the room like someone had been smoking. Right outside our glass patio doors, I noticed a bowl full of cigarette butts. I wasn't sure if it was left by a previous guest or by staff. My question was answered the next few days, as I noticed the bowl was emptied and refilled with new butts on a daily basis. Why the staff had chosen our patio doors as a place to hang out and smoke was beyond me. Also, there was a big sticky place on the carpet. It felt like something had been spilled, and the carpet hadn't been cleaned. As such, we wore our shoes when in the room as it was gross to accidentally step in that spot. The room was large, and nicely decorated. The AC worked very well. The price was higher than it should have been, but it was 4th of July weekend, and the President was in town, so kinda expected. We stayed at 10 hotels on this trip, and this was the most expensive one, and the worst one. Not a horrible place, but not great either. Probably wouldn't stay there again.
The staff was wonderful! Everyone was very nice and helpful when I checked in. What really made the experience great was the Pam the head housekeeper's helpfulness. I left some clothes in my room and she went out of her way to personally see if she could find them and made arrangements to have them shipped across the country!
We thought this place was a great choice. Very close to downtown and right by I-90. Not at all far from all of the things we wanted to see and do. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. I hope to be in the area again in Sept and will definitely stay here again.
First, we called ahead on Monday to find out if the pool would be open as the kids pirate ship was the sole reason for choosing this specific Best Western. If it wouldn't have been open, we'd have chosen to stay in Hill City Best Western or one of the hotels in Rapid City that were 1/2 the price.. Staff said, it should be open Tuesday, it was filled, just waiting for it to heat up. When we arrived Tuesday night, and I asked they said it should be open Wednesday that it was filled and just waiting for it to heat up. Wednesday comes and we go to peek at it. This kiddie pool was NOT filled up, the hot tub was NOT filled up. So, I called them from my cell to get the EXACT same answer: they said it was filled up and just waiting for it to be heated up. I realize this is a very trivial reason to be upset, but had they just told us it wouldn't be ready through our stay, we could've booked in Hill City. Second, when I walked down to the hotel main desk from my room, the smell down the hall was unbearable. It smelt of urine something fierce. Third, and not too significant, the room wasn't in great shape. Damaged door, shower, pillows were tiny and we weren't provided with many, "comforter" (if you can call it that) was itchy. If I'd have wanted motel 6 quality, we'd have booked a motel 6.
This is a great venue. It has been well kept and updated over the years. The water park area and swim area are great! Staff was friendly and helpful upon check in. Our room was clean and comfortable. Many exterior doors are convenient for access to inner rooms.
The room wasnt very clean, there were crumbs and dirt on the floor as soon as we checked in, the washcloths had stains on them, the towels, washcloths, hand towels looked like they were just tossed where they go with no attention to detail. The toilet wasnt cleaned very well. As an ex head housekeeper, I cant help but notice things like this. Luckily were busy enough not to spend much time in the room.
Overall, the stay was very good, the service was excellent, the rooms were clean, the maid service was professional, pool was clean and well kept. The food was to our satisfaction. The workers at the front desk were professional and willing to help in what ever needed to be done.l
I have always stayed at this hotel and think for the most part the front desk personnel are very professional, they have always made us feel welcome and comfortable. My family enjoys the pool area which is one of the main reasons we come to stay. I think they do need to give their laundry and housekeepers some more training on how to deal with the general public in a more professional manner.
Felt very unsafe, young adults partying in the stairwells, security officer didn't phase them. The rooms were subpar, the coffee was colored water, you could see daylight under the door leading to the exterior in our room, shower head was in need of replacement, so noisy we did not sleep both nights, our late check out request was shut down and management was flippant.
The customer service was excellent. No breakfast for that room price and the room seemed small. Rooms were cleaned and good. I appreciated the friendliness of the staff. For someone with kids I would appreciate breakfast or perks
The room had not been vacuumed or mopped and the counter hadn't been wiped down. There was also something on the shower curtain. We moved rooms and it was the same type of quality cleaning. The housekeeping staff needs to be retrained and management needs to check rooms. We won't stay here again.
I would certainly stay here again. I came for business in town but the surrounding area is full of adventures to go on and sites to see. Great for family vacations. We will be back just to do that - with out working!
Over my time in attending various conferences with my husband in South Dakota I've learned to not get overly excited about hotels that bear the Ramkota name. I usually love Best Westerns, but not when they are paired with Ramkota. We stayed here because this is where my husbands conference was being held. The whole place is an absolute maze as it's just building after building attached together. The rooms are really showing their age, and it's a little weird to have a sliding glass door that just opens to the parking lot. I understand the courtyard rooms having a sliding glass door, but our room over looking the parking lot on ground level was just creepy. So many people would walk past all the time that I had to just keep the curtains closed so I didn't have random strangers just looking in. One nice feature of the hotel is that they have an onsite restaurant (Minerva's), but due to this, they don't offer a free breakfast. They also have two separate pool area, one standard pool that also has a small kiddie pool and hot tub, and then a waterpark area across the hall. Since they do have a waterpark, they ask all guests using either pool area to wear a wrist band so that they know you are a paying guest. The other nice thing was if you are traveling with a furry friend they had dog bags right out in the courtyard so that you could have a nice area for your dog to relieve themselves. Even if we have a conference here again, I plan to stay elsewhere as there are nicer hotels for a cheaper price that I could stay and also have breakfast included.
I like the way they treat me when I go there, always friendly especially Keith White.. like the big space room, the hot tub and the location is prefect! Like the restaurant especially when the weather is bad or hot, don't have to leave the hotel and the shuttle is free, to and from the airport!
Whenever I travel in the state, I try to look for a Ramkota Hotel. Their service is consistent and the rooms are clean and attractively decorated. Normally when I stay at a hotel for business, I want to simply decompress at the end of a long day and I appreciate that they always have a restaurant connected to the hotel.
Love staying at this place, close to the local Mall, Front Desk always answers and makes sure you are taken of no matter if they are busy, again Michelle was Pretty and helpful to the point where she gave a us a discount.
I had spent the majority of the day driving and then visiting my sister in the hospital and the staff was great and they went the extra mile to take this part of the stay perfect. Everyone has issues but its nice to just have someone smile and welcome you to their city.
Decided to stay here two nights because our AAA Tour book did not list a Best Western Plus in Rapid City. This is a BIG place with 267 rooms. We were placed in bldg. F. Nice enough room but not what we are used to. Light bulb over vanity was out and never replaced, wife spilled a little mascara in bath vanity first day and sink was not cleaned out during our stay. Did not report these problems as we felt that the hotel was just to big for the staff they are able to get. The saving grace, however, was Minerva's Restaurant and Bar which was very nice.
I had to travel to Rapid City not for business or pleasure, but for illness. I had to find a place close to the Regional hospital and I was worried about so many things I didn't know where to start. This spotless hotel PROVIDED ME FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE to the hopsital sometimes twice a day..WHAT A BlESSING! and when I tipped the driver "Michael" he was SO appreciative and kind. Don't let the location fool you. The lobby is LOVELY and the rooms are BIG and quiet.
We stayed 2 nights. Excellent access for our dogs, and very friendly staff. The place is HUGE and easy to get lost in, but very quiet. Had a light dinner in the restaurant, and found the food to be really good, with reasonably priced options. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
We stayed one night at this sprawling resort/convention center. It did not feel like a Best Western and I've stayed at many. This place is huge and would probably appeal to families with kids because of the indoor water park. This also makes it very loud and noisy with large parties roaming the halls at all hours. We actually got lost driving to our room and it took quite a long time to walk back to the front to use the restaurant. Unlike most BW hotels, this one did not include breakfast and we did not use Minervas as the meal the night before was unremarkable. Instead we ate at Millstone family restaurant down the road which was great. The place is across from a mall as well. We had a room with a pull out sofa bed which was pretty uncomfortable. Would probably try a different place if we visit Rapid City again.
The hotel staff were friendly, room was clean, hotel has been updated. Great fitness options, food in hotel restaurant was very good. Although I didn't travel with children, there is a massive water park inside for children, would be a child's dream. There is also an indoor pool separate for adults. There is a mall in walking distance with a variety of stores, food and retail.
altugether, my stay was a positive experience. Only negative was failure to empty trash, failure to replace towels/bath mat/face cloth as requested during third day of stay. also bed was not made -up on third day as well.
Food and wrappers left on floor. After wiping the bathroom counter the washcloth was black. Disgusting!! After pointing out the mess, the cleaning crew still neglected to pick up the trash and clean the room.
The staff was friendly but the overall hotel seemed to stay dirty the entire time I was there. When I showed up there was hair on my pillows and stuff on the floor (no vacuuming). The hallways also never appeared to be vacuumed, as they also stayed dirty all day and room service trays would stay in hallways half the day. They did not show up to clean my room until after 5 on two days and that is when I was needing to get ready for the evenings conference events. It appeared the hotel couldn't handle the multiple conferences going on.
The deadbolt was broken and I reported it and I was told I just needed to pull harder. On the second night of my stay there was a knock at the door after 9 pm and the person identified himself as maintenance and wanted access to my room. When I said that I was going to call the front desk to confirm he went away. When I called the front desk they were absolutely unconcerned and could not confirm if this was legitimate or not. I checked out early.
Good staff,............good food...........good beds........clean rooms.............we would stay again,we have stayed at best western over the years going on 40 plus yrs!....................we will be travelling again in a few weeks and have plans to stayat best western!
Room was clean, quiet, and reasonably priced. Due to the overlapping schedule of two military reunions, there were check in delays in obtaining rooms and the restaurant/lounge was understaffed and unable to provide prompt service.
This is a very sprawling hotel and walk to my room was quite long but I did ask for a quiet room so did not mind walking extra. I was surprised to find out that there was no lift to the first floor ( ground floor +1) but I was on the ground floor so it did not matter- I do not know whether they would help with the laggage if required. All the staff were helpful but I have to sinlge out Stanley whom I asked a lot of questions re the local facilities and who was very welcoming and encouraging when answering them.He is the reason why I have taken time to write this review as, contrary to my normal experience, I have not been asked by the hotel to provide it. There was a problem with housekeeping which was resolved promptly and that wold not stop me to stay at the hotel if I was in Rapid City again. The important factor for me, who does not want to drive in USA, is that Mt Rushmore and More Tour picks up from the hotel. And although one can not walk to the town, Rusmore Mall is within walking distance from where there is a limited shttle to the City. In my experience it is very panctual and safe. Better still the hotel provides a shuttle within the City boundery and will pick you on demand to go there and back. Since I like to be independent I used them only once until I found about the city shuttle. There were PCs available to catch up ( my tablet would not let me use the hotel's wi-fi which is not unusual) and check in for flights). The restaurant was convenient and good.
We just left after 5 nights at this hotel. We booked a 2 queen for.my husband, myself, and our 2 year old. When we checked in we were offered a complimentary upgrade to a suite. We were floored and so thankful for the extra room with a toddler. The room (Building G 1705) was so spacious and very clean. The only downfall we found was the tile in the kitchen area was a little sticky and the closet had a musty smell. Everything else was wonderful. We certainly took advantage of the pool and water park. The water in the actual pool is much warmer than the water park. The big slides in the water park are wicked!!! Our little guy loved the slides geared for kiddos. The location is very easy to get to from anywhere in Rapid City. There is also alot to do and places to eat right near by. We had breakfast one day in the hotel restaurant and I would recommend going somewhere else. The price for what you got was not that good in my opinion. Head over to Denny's across the street instead. Next time we are in Rapid City we will for sure look at staying here again.
A large hotel and convention type center, confusing to get around, after checking in you usually need to drive around to a different section to find your room and then find the door to enter. Room was clean and large. Attached restaurant was convenient but we had to navigate some not well signed hallways to find our way back to the front. Wifi worked well.
Do not stay here. Place smells moldy. Long drive from desk to most of the buildings. Entries to some of the building are not convenient at all. Noisy because of kids running around. No screens in windows. Place needs some TLC. Only good thing is attached restaurant.
we took a long weekend vacation to South Dakota to sight see and visit the baby bears at Bear County but we ended up spend a lot of our time at the hotel bouncing back and forth between the 2 swimming pool options. The hotel was beautiful, the staff was friendly, everything was clean and we had a blast!
In need of renovation, very well used rooms and smelly corridor carpets. First day breakfast was good while using a discount ticket but the second day, Sunday was very poor with only half of the service available. The description of bar food in the room was wrong, the menu was very limited claiming they are undergoing improvements. very expensive for the standards we got, could have been due to being bike week. Good parking and location, easy to get to from the highway.
We were part of the National Corvette Caravan ( Pacific Northwest) final destination Bowling Green KY for the 25th anniversary of the museum. This was the chosen host hotel, The room was nice and clean, large bathroom.
The Ramkota Inn is very good value! The staff is exceptional and accommodating. Rooms were tidy and roomy. It was very clean and bright! We didn't swim but the pool And water park area was wonderful! We would recommend this hotel in Rapid City to family and Friends
Renovated 2-story hotel with no elevator; however, it was clean, had a large indoor pool and large indoor splash park w/2slides that families will love. Convenient to Badlands and Black Hills; no breakfast but plenty of cheap eats in the area and on-site restaurant. Ask for help with bags or first story room if stairs are a concern.
A guest in a room close to ours had a large sounding dog that barked every time he heard a noise. This went on every night for 3 nights, Apparently the walls aren't insulated as it was quite loud in our room. Loud enough that it woke us up every time it started barking. I'm an animal lover, and have a Lab at home. I understand they bark, but they make collars to minimize the barking.
Booked the room long in advance of the Sturgis Rally and got a very fair price for 4 nights. The hotel was geared for the rally and took great care of all the bikers. Sturgis is close by (1/2 hour away) so easy to get to. The hotel is also centrally located for all the area rides. Room was ready early and we got checked in by early afternoon. Lots of bike washing stations and pull through parking spaces for vehicles & trailers. Lounge & restaurant were very good with a wide range of selections and prepared as requested. Also lots of local craft beers. My wife & I are almost 70 and the hotel made the Rally very memorable for us with clean, quite and comfortable rooms which were needed after full days of "rallying". We will be booking soon for next years rally.
My group of friends stayed at this Best Western because this is where the Owner of the bike shipping company reserved rooms. 12 of us went to Sturgis for the bike rally. I had read on the reviews before we ever left that there had been a bug problem. I counted on that situation being rectified by the time we arrived. We walked into our room and saw bugs, both dead and alive crawling around. The room next to ours was even worse. My wife spoke to house keeping and they said that they would spray. She eventually spoke to the General Manager and he had "professionals" come in to spray. Didnt seem to bother the bugs. We eventually spoke with house keeping again because they obvisuosly werent sweeping up even the dead bugs or changing our sheets over the week stay. The assistant manager came to the room and accused us of leaving the door open. Nope, just to enter and exit. My wife went to the lobby following the discussion and just so happened to hear the assistant manager talking about it at the front desk in front of whoever was there to listen. Just so happened that my wife overheard her and called her out on her gossiping. we eventually completed our stay and the manager reduced our nightly rate by $30. We wont be back. the food in the restuarant was good as was the service. Very big and spread out hotel.
Visited over 4th of July weekend and kids had a great time. Was not overly crowded as I expected it to be. We're able to buy extra passes for our friends to join us in the water park area. Room was clean and quiet. Overall a great stay.
We only stayed for one night at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel in Rapid City but it was enjoyable. Helpful and courteous staff made the stay easy. Big water feature for the family, connected full service restaurant and great lounge. Easy to get to off the freeway and great place for day trips. It seems that everything in the Hills is an easy drive from the hotel. Downtown Rapid City has so much to offer too. Love this area of the US!
Terrible hotel to stay in. It was noisy, carpets smelly and no breakfast. Our hotel wasn't cleaned until we returned back from our tour. Cleaners were in there after 4p.m. Best Western was always our first choice, but this one failed miserably.
Upon arrival we found the room to be clean and comfortable. Air conditioning unit worked well. Room service i.e. cleaning minimal after initial arrival. Bed made but no real dusting/wiping/vacuuming etc. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. Cookie treats in a basket available to you... Plenty of places to dine around the facility. A very basic breakfast available.
Comfortable night. Great water pressure. We were assigned a room that housekeeping failed to clean so we had to go back down to front desk and assifgned another room and were given $8 voucher towards breakfast
After reading some comments on this place, I was worried about it being noisy in the rooms. So at check in I requested a quiet room, the young lady at the desk was very helpful and located us as far away from the pool area as possible, this proved to be great with very little noise from other guests. Our room was spacious and in a reasonable condition. The attached restaurant “Minervas” had a separate bar and the service and food there was real good and not rushed.
The staff at check-in was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional. The young lady was very good. Was no complementary breakfast, and the food was not up to normal taste. The restaurant/round. The staff at check-in was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional. The young lady was very good. Was no complementary breakfast, and the food was not up to normal taste. The restaurant/lounge Did not have much of a menu. The location of hotel was good, the pool was nice.
In general the hotel is not bad. Not the cleanest. Not the best staff (though some were nice). However, during my stay no hot water for 3 days. 7 nights and no maid service 4 of them. I complained about all and was told sorry, we will have someone clean the room tomorrow and as for hot water, we are working on it, It's been out for days. That's it. I also saw when I checked in and went to my room peanut or pistachio shells thrown on the floor of the stairway. (which I had to drive around the building and go in another door, it's a spread out 2 floor complex) and carry my bags up the stairs to the second floor (no elevators and no bell service at night). I waited to see when they would clean the shells. 4 days (don't know how long before I got there they were there). As for my room, they cleaned my room the next day after I complained (after 2 days of not cleaning) and then didn't clean 2 more days until I complained again. Again, nice but "sorry, will clean tomorrow)" and then blamed me because I had a DND sign on the door until 11 which is when my son was done getting dressed. Really, so you don't go back to check later in the day? 11 is not like 2 in the afternoon! (this was for a conference but with an extended family stay with my son) Just for the record, I was extremely nice and understanding and NEVER yelled or got angry, just let them know the situation. Another family yelled that their room smelled of smoke, and they immediately gave them dinner for their family in the restaurant. I got nothing, I guess because I was nice about it. Staff is hit and miss. Some were very nice, others had no customer service skills at all. Price for this hotel I don't think is expensive, but it was for me I think because of the conference they jacked up the pricing. I heard them on the phone quoting lower prices even though I supposedly got a discount for being part of the conference. For what it was, it was not cheap so not worth the money.
Visited this hotel over the 4th of July weekend and the pools and water slides were not in working order. One of the two water slides was not working, and the only (very small) hot tub was dangerously hot, and maintenance told guests that he could not control the temperature. The main pool was large, but very very dirty, mostly outside of the pool. The restaurant was not very kid friendly. The rooms were ok, spacious and generally in good shape, but the last day I had a pillow with dried blood on it. The complimentary lotion/shampoo/conditioner bottles were single use, but housekeeping did bring plenty of extras when I asked. I would not recommend this hotel to other families.
Intergenerational family trip ended with two nights here. All 3 rooms were great. Pool/water park pleased kids, bar/restaurant pleased adults! Location also helpful for early morning get away to return home (close to 90).
When you enter the hotel lobby it gives you a warm welcome feeling and the staff greets you write away asking if they can help. The front desk staff are very pleasant and and will help you in any way they can.The rooms look like they look in the pictures and feel like your home. The indoor pool is a nice size and clean and also have a small waterpark type area you can use for free when you stay there.I don't think I could say on e thing bad in the three days I stayed there.
Ramkota is a large hotel and difficult to find your way around at first. Has a huge indoor pool as well as indoor water park. Has several conference areas that are very comforatable. Has restaurant, Minervas that also has a bar area. Although breakfast was not included in our convention price, it was very pleasant to go to the restaurant each morning and not have people grabbing for food as in the breakfast included hotels. Never thought I would say that but found it to be true. Much more relaxing way to start the day. Our room opened up to hallway as well as another door that opened up to beautiful gazebo garden area. Grounds are very well kept. Staff responded immediately when anything was needed and wanted to be sure our stay was a positive one.
Great place to stay! Close to destinations, Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore, Black Hills, etc. Staff was friendly. Shuttle to/ from airport was a great feature. The hotel staff was friendly and very willing to assist in every respect.
So I didnt want to make this a big deal and I wish I got the incident on video but I'm tired of my native people getting treated horribly and people turning a blind eye to racism, alot of you know I had to come back to South Dakota for my dads wake and funeral. My little family and a bunch of my husbands family that just got done sun dancing in Kyle SD we got some hotel rooms at the Ramkota best Western on Friday June 21st in Rapid city (racist city as they call it) So we get to our room I pull out the pull out couch to get our boys ready for bed and its covered in cheetos and cheeto crumbs. Which isn't a big deal I can change the sheets so we call the front desk and have them send someone up to exchange them. Before the bedsheets arrived they called our room for a noise complaint about children being to loud. Which our boys were sitting down at the table on their tablets eating before bed cause we were waiting for the sheets to be delivered, I was laying our daughter down to go to sleep. When one of the workers brought them to the door then the neighbor in the next room came out and told my husband "look are we gonna have a problem all night" and my husband asked him what his problem was. The guy then started to grab a gun that he was carrying on his waistband. The employee then told my husband to get in our room which he did. The police were called by the guy trying to threaten my husband and by this time our sons were standing right behind their dad at the time of the occurrence. Rapid city police talked to the worker of the hotel got his side of the story then came and got our side. They then went and talked to the other dude and got his side and nothing was done about the guys absurd actions in a family environment the cops did say if another incident occurred to call them. So we all just go to sleep and then the next morning about 30 minutes after we wake up the guy next door is yelling profanity at the top of his lungs then says "I know where you f****** live, your name, where you work". So at this point I'm PISSED I'm mourning my father and my family's getting harrassed by some crazy guy and nothings being done by the management or the police. We go down there and complain to management about what just happened AGAIN! They try calling his room and no answer then they said they didnt have a number on file for him when he checked in. I feel the employees breached our private info to this guy for what he says saying and they even told us his name. So after all that my father in law came over from his room so we all decided we would just go swimming and the staff said the manager would be down to the pool and talk to us and it never happened. After we're done swimming we go to our room and the doors not working our key wont even go in the slot. So my husband looked where the card goes and before our oh so nice neighbor left the visentiy he broke his key off in our door so we couldn't get in. So our family had to wait an hour in our swimming suits for maintenance to come and take off the whole mechanisms for the door handle off and put a new one on. We we're suppose to stay another night but after that I just wanted to leave and go home. Even after the last incidents the staff didnt call the police like they were advised to do if anything else happened. They did compensate the room which my father in law paid for they even compensated the aggressors room !! Even after he damaged their property. Our time at that hotel was suppose to be a good family experience especially with everything that was happening with our family's (losing my father and my husbands family just getting done Sundancing a sacred time for the oceti sakowin and it was the total opposite) I can't believe the staff would let all that happen and not kick him out. I'm so disappointed with the whole experience and all they would do is say im sorry. So to all my native people if you stay there please to careful because they obviously don't care about there guests safety or at least for our people's safety.
We booked this hotel for around $100 plus tax per night. Wouldn't pay more than that. Positives are the large pool and “waterpark”. Waterpark is for under 5 year olds except the slides which are fast and fun for the bigs. Waterpark is TINY. Room was nice, clean, more than fulfilling. However, we were put on a floor with all families. This isn't the hotel fault, but there were kids/people slamming doors and running around til 1 am both nights. Who allows their children to do that????!? Also, when people around us are taking a shower, the water noise is very loud. Good luck getting restful sleep here. Let me add, we travel a lot. We're not newbies to noise or hotels—this one was a new kind of noisy miserable....
The room was not very clean especially when I had to pull out the nightstand to get my flashlight that rolled behind it. The restaurant was below average.Salad bar had mostly only pasta salads so I ordered the lettuce wraps. Not good!. At check-in I signed a paper for one price and they charged $12 more to my credit card. I did not charge anything to the room, they said it was taxes but why weren't they added to the bill when I checked in? They quoted me a price and then I saw on a flyer there that they have a senior rate so I asked for it and they said that was the senior rate. Seems unlikely. They did have good coffee in the lobby in the morning. Overall, it was not a good experience.
worst experience of our lives..traveled with 2 other couples called ahead to make sure we could check in early (2pm) and that all our rooms would be together, was told yes by the lady on the desk.when we arrived nothing was ready so we went to lunch came back at three was then told if we wanted to check in we would not all be together but if we wanted to wait till 4pm then the rooms would be ready mind you we booked this 3 months in advance..so we ended up scattered all over this huge hotel. as we were tired from traveling all day..we had already booked another night threw best western not knowing how bad this place really was..from customer service to dirty bathtubs .i complained to the manager an he said he would make sure our last night of vacation was better than out first one of the...apon arrival i walked in an was told our rooms were together this time..well when i got to mine matinence was fixing the shower an was going to be awhile so i went to the desk an they gave me another room which happend to be right near the ice machine an not near my friends, needless to say i didnt get much sleep at all..very dissapointing hotel i would not reccommed this place to any one stay somewhere else..the only good thing was the resturant which isnt even owned by Best western i give this place a minus 8 RUN dont walk..stay somewhere better....the front desk cant even answer a simple question...not a good hotel
Could of offered better service on room when water went out for more than one day. Also I felt that all of use who were with out water should of been compensated better. A lot of the Trackers were upset.
Overall the hotel was fairly nice- until the next morning when there was no hot water in our room. I did not have any hot water for my entire stay. What made it worse is that the hotel knew my room did not have hot water and did not tell me when I checked in or when I complained the next morning. The next morning they told me everyone was taking a shower at the same time so they must have run out. They told me about issue with a broken pipe that had been going on for days at 10pm when I complained again. At this point there were no other rooms and it was too late to find another hotel.
Had to spend a night here and not at all satisfied. Room was by the pool so very noisy. Smoke alarm in the middle of the night started beeping once per minute for low power. Told the young man at the front desk in the morning and all I got was “ok I'll mention it to maintenance”. Are you kidding, try sleeping at night with a once per minute alarm. I won't ever stay here again
Nice hotel, good location, friendly staff, nice restaurant. Great water park for children. being a 2 floor hotel no elevator so seniors will probably stay one ground floor. Close to shopping, attractions and downtown area. Free shuttle to airport and downtown area.
Toni , one of the housekeeping staff was very helpful, she went out of her way to provide us assistance. came back to check on us and was very helpful. She was very willing to be of help to us and very kind. Our grandson was ill and she was very helpful and kind. really showed that she cared.
Warning!! The Ramkota has no customer service. Stay elsewhere! Upon arriving, I was not even greeted with a smile or a welcome. My suite was nothing special. The highlights were the loud, slamming door and the stains on the wall. Not to mention the dust and tiny bathroom. The smoking stations are located right out of the door, so I hope you like smelling smoke in the halls (may be breaking the law on it being that close to the building). I paid extra money for wristbands to the pool but was shocked to see 75% of the guests had no bands at all. Yet they were allowed in the pools. The hotel allowed their staff to stay at a discounted rate on a very busy Saturday. I know this because I witnessed the staff member interacting with her kids in the pool and saying she would be joining them soon. There were people everywhere and that just added to the madness. I feel it would be more appropriate during less busy days. In the morning, I saw people with juice and yogurts. Come to find out that the hotel offered breakfast in the lobby (not sure if it was a special event or it is always offered). I had no idea and had already paid for our breakfast. When I checked out, I waited for the front desk to even acknowledge I was there. He was focused on the computer screen and after ten minutes checked me out. Not even a thank you or how was your stay. The cherry on top of our horrible stay was we left an item in our room. I called that afternoon and the staff said there was nothing they could do because housekeeping left. I was horrified that they could not go and look for themselves. I left a message with housekeeping that was never returned. I tried the front desk again and they were unhelpful and rude. I finally had luck with the manager, who took two days to tell me the item was not found. He apologized and that was that. Avoid this hotel if you can!
This is a very nice property for a Best Western. It is clean and comfortable and has a great restaurant attached. Food is pretty good for the area. The employees are very nice and willing to accommodate, the shuttle driver is awesome. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious, but the decor is typical best western brown and bland. Housekeeping is great, they come on time and they clean the room nicely each day. The meeting space is larger than your typical Best Western which is a plus. They have outlets by the bedside which not all BeWees do. I found the lobby nice they have decent coffee in the morning. At first it is difficult to navigate, you have to remember your building letter, A B C etc. in order to find your room as the directional signage is confusing. If you are in the back nine you will get lost the first few times but its not that bad of a walk, there are a lot of rooms here. Did not use the pool area it is great for kids but probably not adults. All in all a nice stay. Well run hotel.
The hotel is in a good location right off the highway. It is a nice hotel. It was clean. The only complaint about the room was the water only heated up to lukewarm. We almost did not stay. The woman who checked us in charges us more than what was quoted and had an attitude when I asked for a receipt when I paid cash. She tossed a printout on the counter. She was pretty condescending telling me that I would not have a problem in the morning. Guess what, the clerk in the morning had to call the manager who apparently couldn't be reached as there was no one available to follow their procedures for cash customers which entails having housekeeping check your room before they return your deposit. Fortunately the clerk gave me the money so I could get on the road. He sort of made up for the nasty woman at check in.
The sheets were dirty, there was something smeared in a spot on the wall. In general it did not look like it had been cleaned, only that they made the bed with the same sheets. I also found a tick on one of the pillows. Not what you want to see at a hotel.
We stayed at this hotel in the past and we have always had a pleasant experience. The hotel is clean, quiet, and staff has always been friendly and informative. I waited while the desk clerk was on the phone and she thanked me more than once for my patience. We did not use the pool this time but have in the past and it's great as well. The bed was super comfy and I slept in until 9:30am! Visiting Rapid City? Be sure to consider this hotel for your next stay.
The motel was great everything you was right there. You could site see and return to the motel for food and drink and relax. No hurry to find a food outlet or such. Great time have by all. easy entries and exit ti the freeway.
Free water park passes included with the room. Had room service from Minerva's Restaurant and Bar. Food was pretty good. Across the street from the Rushmore Mall. Very large place. Comfortable. Good place if you have a dog. Would stay here again.
An organization that I am on a Board for booked my stay. The plus was: ease of entrance into ground room floor (if you can find a parking spot nearby and request such a room). The negatives: a) 1 of the 2 queen beds was broken. b) Kids found someone else's toy underneath the bed. c) Roads in the parking lot behind the hotel (used for access to nearby attractions) have potholes so big they can knock your axle off balance. Pool was decent but could have been cleaner and hallways were very noisy. I won't choose this for a family stay in the future and we travel a lot.
Hotel location was easily accessible. Check in was slightly acceptable for the amount of people checking in at the time. Staff seemed unable to follow through when presented with an issue. Rooms are older, so you hear every person who walks or runs by, especially loud when their old doors are being forced shut, because they don't fit correctly. House keeping might be understaffed and inexperienced, as our room had trash still on the carpet, trash in dresser drawers and items left behind from the previous guests. The waterpark was nice, decent for smaller children. The big slides were very fast, great for adrenaline high seekers, but not for children looking for a pain free slide. If you're looking to stay here just for the waterpark, you may want to reconsider. If you're just looking for a place to stay near Mount Rushmore, you definitely will want to reconsider. When I approached a supervisor to ask for some sort of reimbursement, she proceeded to complain about one of the other four staff members I spoke to previously about our issues. Staff should complain up the management chain, not to its customers.
We really liked the location, it's close to the interstate. We also like the friendly staff and the spacious king suites. The pool area was a hit for my kids and their friends with a large pool on one side and water park on the other.
Reserved online, got there and they had no record of it. I was then double charged and didn't receive my money back for almost 5 days. They also don't let you know about an additional $25 charge they throw on top of your total. Their kiddie pool, the whole reason we chose that hotel was FREEEEEEZING cold. Freezing!! My 3 and 5 year old couldn't even stand it. Hallways smelled like strong marijuana.
On this trip, this was one of the best we stayed at. We had great service, nice room, the hot tub was working and the price was one of the best (compared to others on our trip). Definitely would recommend and would stay there again.
Stayed for four nights on the conference. The hotel staff is the best part of the hotel. They all are polite, expreditive and very professional. Hotel provides free shuttle from airport and to downtown and people who are doing that service are very friendly and nice. Breakfast is just ok, partly because they do not have enough stuff. Hotel lobby is very clean and nice decorated, wifi through hotel is excellent, rooms are very clean. But, for me since I wanted to visit Rushmore shopping mall, the best thing about hotel is location is location. It is five minutes of walking which was useful if the outside temperature is minus 20 Celsius! The only quirkiness of the hotel is layout. Since it is basically two storey building and there are lots of rooms it is huge. I had to walk two minutes from lobby. Recommended if you are visiting Mount Rashmore especially with kids since hotel has free aqua park inside.
I got into Rapid City late in the afternoon and really did not want to go back out after I checked into the Best Western Ramkota Inn. I noticed the parking lot was full and there was a lot of activity in the restaurant. I decided to give it a try and was well pleased with my decision. Fresh baked bread, a good bowl of tomato bisque soup and a perfectly prepared ribeye steak followed by a bread pudding that any one in south Louisiana would have been proud of. Normally I shy away from hotel restaurants but this one made me proud. I will be back.
Every year we stay at the Ramkota during the Black Hills Stock Show. I appreciate the physical updates to the facility and the excellent restaurant, Minerva's. This is the first year we've had problems with the hotel. First, the exterior door closest to our room didn't work -- swipe your key hard a hundred times and it doesn't open. This is not great when you have armloads full of stuff and you can't get the door open. Twice we told staff and each time they said, "Yah, that door doesn't work." Well, then why tell us to use that door when we check in and why are ZERO efforts made to fix the key card reader??!! When we checked out, there was a $13 charge from Minerva's on our bill from Thursday night (we had eaten there on Wednesday, but paid with our credit card). We didn't eat at the hotel Thursday night, nor go to the bar. The front desk told us they could not remove the charge. We asked them to call Minerva's, again, we were told they could not remove the charge. Words were exchanged, finally the clerk relented, and removed the false charges. So, they charge our room but can't produce the paper that we supposedly signed for the charges = dubious at best. The 2019 experience was disappointing. We'll look elsewhere for our next stay.
BW Ramkota was very accommodating with our reservations as requested adjourning suites after first reservation had already been made. Grandkids love the pool and room service is delicious & timely. Only reason I rated Sleep Quality as Average is due to noisy heating unit in our room.
If you are traveling with your dog this place is great! The rooms have a direct door to the courtyard area where the dogs are completely closed in. We were able to let ours off leash and play. The staff was great and handled a drunk and difficult group of guests very tactfully.
The personnel at the front desk always had cheery smiles each morning and welcomed our stay with 3 dogs, approx. 40-50 lbs each. The stay was so EASY given that several (many!) ground floor rooms have adjacent slider access directly into an enclosed grassy courtyard/relief area. The courtyard is even equipped with dog waste bags and night lights! We specifically came back to this hotel on our return trip because it helped make our traveling with dogs a breeze.
This property is perfect for business and family travel. I typically use it for business trips and the staff has always been extremely accommodating and so friendly. I also stay there on my trips because the food on site is GREAT!
I travel to Rapid City for business a few times a year and always stay at this hotel, I am in the loyalty program, and this time they gave me a free upgrade to a suite. Very nice touch. I enjoy the bar as well and the staff is always very friendly
Price is a little steep but if you compare to another water park style hotel, you can't beat it. Have up to 6 swim passes per room, competitors in the area give you a discount but none come with room, so you have additional charges to use. This hotel was clean, beds are average but overall if you have kids a great buy!
We had a wonderful stay here during our visit to Rapid City. We had 2 beautiful rooms on the ground floor with front and back entrances. It was perfect for our family. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely come stay again.
Stayed in the family jacuizzi suite!!!! It was awesome!! Very large, refrigator, microwave, and fireplace. Great for family stay! Beds were comfortable. Nice furniture! The pool and hot tub was nice! Savannah front desk was very friendly and helpful. Great waterpark for family.
We booked this room simply for the kids waterpark that we thought would be fun for our four kids. Well it turned out to be a major disappointment as the water was so cold! Once arriving to the hotel, our check in was smooth, we quickly dropped our bags off in the room, three kids got their swimsuits on, and they headed to the pool. The water was so cold, they ended up "swimming" in the hottub. Once we got back to the room we noticed all of the dirty and uncleanly spots!! Here is what we found...…...The room we received had dried toothpaste all over the bathroom counter. There was poop on the toilet seat and side of the toilet. The two chairs in the room had food that was caked on the chair seats. The bedskirt had food smeared on it. The mirror and the sliding glass door were disgusting!! The mirror just hadn't been cleaned well but the sliding glass door looked like it had food and grease smudges all over the top half of the door. There were ants crawling around in the bathroom over a pile of crumbs. There was no stopper in the bathtub. Also, one of the beds had stained bloody bed sheets. The sheets were obviously clean but I would never make a bed with sheets that have been stained from someone else's blood. Because we were not visiting during tourist season, I feel we had gotten a pretty decent rate but I wouldn't have spent a penny on this room for how dirty it was!!! I was offered a new room after I went to get new sheets. I kindly declined as politely told them that I was a mom and could handle a little cleaning up. My kids were already half asleep in their bed so I didn't want to hassle transferring to another room. Would I recommend this motel, NO. Will we be staying here again, NO. Also, there is no continental breakfast like a lot of Best Westerns do which was a big bummer!!
Nice large rooms, but old fashioned motel setup. Accepts pets. Waterpark is convenient and fun for kids. I would stay here again in a heart beat when passing through on I-90, but not visit as destination.
Very disappointed with our stay, we had wedding reception with dinner and dancing. The food was not good at all!! Chicken was so over cooked and tough horrible taste. The cleanup crew started after only finishing supper, dirty dish fine....but were taking centerpieces(candle lite) and tablecloths leaving us in dark. we still had paid for the room for 6 more hours!! All our room keys were not working most having to be replaced 3-4 times!! After calling and explaining our issues.. was to sorry and given a cert. for 4 in their restaurant. Would highly recommend going someplace else!!!!!
I Stayed At This location On Oct 12,13 & 14 I Was Attending A Conference . The Staff Was Awsome My Check in Was fast And The Clerk Was So friendly And Helpful. The Room Was Great I had Every Thing i needed This is The Best Hotel Thank You To All The Staff For Making My stay So Enjoyable
We stayed here for 5 nights during our visit to the region. We were extremely pleased. Our room was clean, well kept, bathroom was extremely clean, the bed was very comfortable, nice and quiet for sleeping, and everything worked as it should have. Minerva's restaurant was a great place for breakfast, and so convenient, just a minute or so away in walking distance. Definitely recommend the Ramkota.
The hotel was clean. Room service daily was prompt. Our room included a microwave and mini-fridge, which was nice. There is no continental breakfast. The water park has 2 slides that are no joke. There is a very large pool with a hot tub across the hall from the water park. I think that overall the hotel is a good value, and would recommend staying here.
The Black Hills Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America hosted a guest speaker at this hotel, inviting donors, Scout families, and others to attend the special event. It showcased a nice décor in the lobby, and the staff was very pleasant at the front desk. Although the hotel hallways were kinda confusing … the walk from the hotel to the convention center was short … once you learned the route. The swimming pool was nice … and the amenities in the lobby were appropriate for our short stay of one night. My son enjoyed the hotel, too … as the room was quiet and quite large for just two people. Would we go back? Maybe, maybe not … as the hotel is somewhat away from other amenities, without having to walk across busy roadways or drive to nearby dining locations. Nonetheless, it was a pleasant site and worth attention by travelers coming through Rapid City on Interstate 90.
We stayed at this hotel for 10 nights. We had a suite, which was much bigger than expected and beautiful on the surface. Once we were there for a couple of nights we realized it was disgustingly dirty! The toilet had what we thought were stains but come to find out it was buildup where it hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long, which means it wasn't cleaned from the previous guest. YUCK!! The shower worked poorly from the shower head being clogged and the tub did not drain. The closet had a moldy, mildew smell. The worst of it was when we left a tip and it was taken by the cleaning staff but our room was not cleaned. That happened more than once with others attending with our convention. When I called the front desk to let them know and I wanted our room cleaned, all they did was throw the covers over the bed and leave towels on the counter. We never left a tip again. The counter-top had stuff stuck to it. I ended up buying my own cleaning supplies and also rugs for the bathroom floor so we didn't have to stand on a dirty floor. After reading the reviews it seems cleanliness is a big issue. The hallways are super echo-y. There were dogs in a room 4 doors down and we could hear them bark all night long. The people at the front desk were very friendly but that's about it. If we visit Rapid City again, we will be staying elsewhere.
Our room was huge. Had a king bed, table, couch, bar w/ frig, sink , microwave. It was clean and the bed was comfy. We stayed there 6 nights and the staff cleaned after us with new towels and bed made up. This motel is very convenient to the Interstate
the service was great room were clean lots of bath towels for three people my sisters and i thruly enjoyed our time at the hotel staff was great both nights we stayed on friday and sunday night thanks for everythinh
Dirty Never experienced such a dirty hotel. There was dust all over and the filter in the heater was so dusty that my husband got sick from it. We had two rooms, and both of them were dirty. Obviously this is their standard. Stay away.
We were at this hotel for a one week conference. We found the staff welcoming and the facilities clean. Some of the carpeting needs updating in the public areas and hallways. They have an indoor waterpark which we didn't have time to use but which seemed popular. Positive things were the quality of the catered meals for our meetings and the front desk and catering staff. Negative things were a problem with the toilet in our room not shutting off and housekeeping staff that repeatedly forgot to leave conditioner with the shampoo making trips to the front desk necessary. Overall, I would give this hotel a good to very good rating based on our total experience.
The room was awful dirty. it has musty, mildew smell. Everything was sticky, I was afraid to touch anything. The bathroom as red mold around the bathtub corners, very smelly. They do not add conditioner unless you go and ask for one. The chair in the room looks really nasty. I did not choose this hotel, I have a conference so I have to stay there. After the conference I stay 5 more days in Rapid City but not in this nasty hotel.
We stayed here for 1 night before going to our cabin. Although you could tell the hotel was older we were so happy with out modern and clean the rooms were. It also had a small water park area that we had a blast seeing who could beat who on the water slides and didn't have the competition of the new waterpark hotels down the road. Would absolutely stay here again!! Was disappointed in no continental breakfast but the pool area made up for that:)
Best Western Hotels (and their sister chains) support modern-day slavery by offering their guests the ability to purchase movies containing sexually explicit content. I do not recommend this hotel for anyone who values human life. Also, this hotel doesn't have a elevator.
Myself and my wife wanted to see SD,ND and some of Wyoming as never been here. Picked this Hotel at Rapid City as had a Restaurant and a Bar attached. To eat and have a Pop after a day of sightseeing. Room was Modern and clean. Restaurant was excellent. Hotel staff very friendly. Great Pick....
Great location to visit the local attractions. The Best Western is close to downtown Rapid City and many shopping centers and restaurants. Easy access to Mt Rushmoore for day visit and night visit. The monument takes on a new perspective at night. Very Impressive.
Found this to be an excellent place to stay and get work done. The king room was great to relax and get work done. It was roomy enough that you did not feel crowded or cramped. The breakfast was great in the restaurant. Not the typical hotel fair. Had great choices and price was the same as local restaurants. The hotel discounted the meal for its guests. Overall found this to be an excellent place to stay and highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
I wasn't so much expecting about the hotel before I arrived. The reason I cose the hotel was on the list to be able to get pick-up service for Mt. Rushmore Tour.( Dakota Tours) And there was a shopping mall nearby. And also they have a complementary courtesy service. But, the hotel was much better than I expected, broke my expection. I have travelled big cities such as LV, LA, SF, NY, and Hawaii. Then I stayed at large and tall Hotels. This was the first time to stay at a Two-stories hotel. The man who we picked up at the airport was nice. The receptionist were nice. And htere was a funny bellman you should experience. We walked the hallway to our room and the hallway looked kind of old. But the room was well-cleaned and big enough. The restaurant staff were all nice. I do appreciate all the staff working at this hotel including house keepers!!! Thanks soooooooooo much. And as more info, there is Walmart within waliking distance(15Min) and Walgreen.
The Hotel was nice, the room was clean, though lacking in toiletries. The pool and water park were fun for the Kiddo. The parking at this property is a NIGHTMARE, and will prevent us from staying again.
This is a great hotel. Went to sturgis mustang rally over Labor Day weekend with the family. The large pool was great and a nice hot tub. My kids were a little bit for the water park but still very cool. No breakfast which was a bummer but Walmart was close for filling up the room fridge. Some areas don't have great parking and exterior lights need to be changed. Easy on off interstate. Only complaint is after four days it became obvious that they use cheap laundry detergent because my son and I were itching like crazy and that only happens to us from cheap laundry detergent. Otherwise great stay.
This is a huge hotel and can be a long trek from your room to the lobby. But it's clean, updated, and very reasonable. There's a large indoor pool and across the hall is a water park. The water park is geared for very young kids although they have 2 water slides for teens and adults. There's a restaurant off the lobby as well as a handful of fast food restaurants and a Starbucks close by.
I wouldn't stay here again if someone paid me. The water park was ok for the kids, but for the cost wasn't worth the fun. The biggest problem came when we woke up. My fiancée had bites all over her chest. First thought was bed bugs. My soon to be in laws took pictures of the beetles in their bathroom. Killed the first few, took pictures of the next clan. When we brought it up at checkout she looked at her chest and said oh those are spider bites, not bed bugs. Like there is a difference when it comes down to it. They did give us 50% off, which was nice for the meal the “spiders” had the night before. Bottom line is they don't care and never will. Pass on this dump.
We stayed at this hotel after visiting Mount Rushmore. It was a 30-40 minute drive from there. Nicest Best Western we've visited! Staff were amazing and accommodations very reasonable. We traveled with our service dogs and they were able to put us in a room that had a second door leading to a grassy area/run for the dogs. The room was large with 2 queen beds. The beds had plenty of pillows and was very comfortable. We didn't get a chance to use the pool, but they have an awesome set up for kids and families. We were able to get a good night's sleep and head out bright and early on our travels. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this Best Western!
We had a very nice room, friendly people working their. Really cool waterpark, would like to bring grandkids some time. Had an issue with the food on Saturday night didn't tell but friends did, and the MGR came to us and comped our breakfast. They had a wonderful brunch buffet.
Good place to stay with children . Check in was quick and simple. Staff was very friendly. Room was clean and normal comfort. My kids enjoyed the pool and water park a lot. I did not like however someone knocked on my door at 8 am to tell me check out was at 11 and then opening the door with out calling first to again remind me on check out time. I don't blame the service people for it, they probably have . They have airport shuttle!!
Good stay, good food, good service, very caring staff. Comfy beds, plenty of good pillows. Filip the clerk who checked us in, almost made us feel like family. Very friendly, and genuinely glad we were there.
It's a sprawling complex, so keep your luggage in the car until you know the room number. It may be easier to drive to an alternate entrance (learned the hard way). We selected it because of the water park for the kiddos, who loved it. Didn't try the restaurant as breakfast wasn't included in our rate.
Let me start off by saying Michelle Lamperes was extremely helpful in making our reservations. The hotel is conveniently located, there is a gas station/store right out front and it was a very central location for base camp. The rooms were nice, clean and easy to spend several days here. It took me a day or two to get acclimated to the layout and getting around very afterwards you get use to it. Our room was close to the pool/hot tub and water park which had a nice patio to sit out on after a long days activities. The staff all were very helpful and to top it off there is an excellent restaurant on site, Minerva's. Out back is a nice mall and several restaurants we took advantage of the Texas Roadhouse which is a short walk. I would stay here again.
We were pleasantly surprised by the great experience we enjoyed at this hotel. The rooms were large, clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff at checkout/in were amazing and although they did not offer a free breakfast the attached restaurant was very good. Kudos to the entire restaurant staff for their caring service and attention to our order and food.
The kids really enjoyed the slides at the water park. The rooms were clean and nice. Only negative was that the hot tub only fits about 4 people comfortably and it was full every evening we went so we didn't get to enjoy it. Definitely could have had another one or a bigger one. Otherwise the stay was nice.
After spending a couple of nights in some pretty terrible motels, this hotel was just amazing to arrive at. Friendly helpful staff got us sorted quickly and into our room. The pool was great to relax by and the restaurant service was flawless. I'd stay here again.
Very happy we chose the Ramkota on our vacation for a one night stay. Service was great and the kids loved the waterpark. Decent size rooms for a family of 4 and i would choose it again if in the area.
Spent 5 nights here seeing all the sites around Rapid City. The pool areas are fantastic for kids, my grand kids spent many hours going down slides. Being a very popular tourist area rooms are a bit pricey but they are all that way here for something decent. Would recommend to anyone for the Rapid City area.
We had to come to Rapid City on short notice because my brother in law was gravely ill. The hotel was great, clean, nice onsite restaurant with room service, helpful staff . We extended our stay an extra night with no problem. They have an indoor water park for kids that is awesome if you have kids along. Nice indoor pool and hot tub too.
It was a very pleasant stay, rooms were comfortable and clean. The meeting rooms were excellent. The catering department did an excellent job in providing service which was great, the food was very good, coffee always checked. We never ran out of food.
Had three rooms for family of five. Room was not cleaned for two days. Night management was a joke. took over an hour to get two towels. Air did not work properly in suite . Had room air on coolest temp never got cold. Staff is weak at best. Only good part of stay was restaurant.
Very clean but over priced. It is an old motel that has been repainted and updated but still has popcorn ceilings. No breakfast. Staff was kind. We won't stay again. We will try some of the non branded motels that looked very nice if we are through here again.
Best part about our stay was the pool and water slides. Thought breakfast was included but it wasn't. Sign on front desk stating this, so apparently I was not the only one confused. Room was not incredibly clean and water leaked in bathroom. Beds were comfortable. No elevators and it kind of sprawled so had to haul luggage upstairs and down a couple of hallways.
A nice place to stay with family as they have a small water park with water slides. There is also a traditional pool right across the hall from the pool. It is a series of buildings that are spread out but connected. It is easy to park right by your building. The only drawback is that it can be a long walk to the pool and main lobby. If you plan on swimming, I would aske for a room near the pool. It is a dog friendly property, and there were a lot of dogs! Easy access right off of the interstate. The beds were comfortable. Other than a few maintenance issues throughout the property, everything was pretty clean.
We stayed 1 night on the last night of our 2 week vacation thru 13 states. We stayed at 8 hotels total, 6 of them BW's. Although all the BW's we stayed in were fine, this was by far the cleanest, friendliest, and most comfortable hotel. Everything was exceptionally clean, the room was spacious and updated, the counter space outside the bathroom made it easier for multiple people to get ready, and the sliding glass door out the back was nice. The best part by far was the hand written note from Chen thanking us for our stay and wishing us a good day. Never, in all the hotels we have stayed in ever, have we ever seen this. It immediately brought a smile, and made us feel so much more at home. The pool/waterpark area looked like a lot of fun, however there were entirely too many people, and we were exhausted, so we didn't try it out. In the morning our check out receipt was slipped under the door, which made checking out quickly and getting on the road so convenient. This was a lovely hotel, and although we have no plans requiring us to go back to SD, we would consider it just to stay in this hotel again!
This was a great place to stay, we stayed three nights it was located in a great place that was close to good places to eat and shop. Easy in and out, very clean, staff friendly, we had no problems. The pool was indoor and was crystal clear, Breakfast was good with lots of choices.
Clean rooms. Dog friendly. It was nice having access to the outside since we were on the first floor..instead of having to use the elevators. Room service was fantastic as was the food from the Resturant in the hotel!!!! Perfect location for Rushmore, Badlands, Custer state Park, etc..
I stayed here for 2 nights. I chose the hotel as they offered free shuttles to and from the airport and downtown, and the tour I booked for Mount Rushmore also picked up from this hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and happy to answer any questions I had about the local area. My room was clean, large and looked like it had recently undergone renovations. Yes, you can sometimes hear people talking and children running up and down the hallways - but that's the fault of other guest and not the hotel or staff and I didn't find it to be too much of a bother. Free coffee is available in the reception area in the morning.
We stayed here over July 4th with some family including an 11 month old baby. The first thing we happened to see was a mouse running under the door to the inside hallway. The doors to the exterior as well as this hallway are set so badly that you see daylight underneath and the wind blows in around them. I definitely would not stay here in the winter as you would freeze! When the little one got down on the carpet to crawl around in both rooms, his feet knees and hands were absolutely black. Obviously, the carpet was really filthy so he had to stay up on the bed and we made sure that we wore shoes the rest of our stay. Housekeeping also did not restock basic necessities such as drinking glasses every day either or replace liner for the ice bin! The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable as well. All in all a very disappointing stay as on the surface the hotel looks newly remodeled and very attractive. I never leave reviews but felt strongly about leaving one today!
Stayed here 4 nights with our 3 kids. 2 of those days we came back to our room late after sightseeing and found our patio door open once and regular door open (lock was stuck in jam to prop open) once, assuming from cleaning staff. When we went to front desk, now irate, the best they would do is comp us $49 on a very expensive room that is not worth the cost to begin with. Plus, we notified them that our toilet was leaking on the first day and they never came to fix like they said. Had to leave a towel by toilet the whole time to sop up excess water. Very disappointed in their service.
This motel advertises in the lobby there is no continental breakfast to keep rates low. They should also advertise the rates are low because they scrimp in cleanliness and maintenance. The floor of the room was covered in human and animal hair which did not beleong to us. The tub did not drain so you are standing in ankle deep soapy scum water when you finish your shower. There were no room key activated exterior security doors working during our stay. The hallways became very noisy from 6:00 am on and stayed that way until about midnight.
Free passes to their huge water park for the family. Large, clean and comfortable room and great restaurant on site. Fitness room is better than most and has everything you need. My hubby says it is better than normal and even has two TVs.
They didn't have the rooms we resavations. Asked for a ground floor but was given a second floor. No elevators. Staff was very rude. I will not be returning. The place was old and smelled like mold. Had a hard time getting the money back on the credit card
Nice, clean spacious room, but my only gripe is the bathroom is pretty small. Beds were comfortable and having a fridge and microwave is always a plus. I like the Best Western brand because they are pet friendly and we can bring our dog and not have to worry about extra fees. This property also has a water park which my kids enjoyed and a pool which is seperate. I'd recommend this property to anyone and it's conveniently located right off of the interstate.
We had to leave Mainstay in Rapid City as their pool had been out for 5 weeks!! With a family, a pool is a necessity. When we got here, the only problem we had was one dirty sheet. The manager felt horrible and immediately corrected the problem. We were there five nights and had no problems!
When I pay 158 dollars for a hotel room I expect the rooms to be clean. The bathroom was obviously not cleaned, other people's hair in the tub. Stained towels. Refrigerator was dirty with last guests drink covers inside. Room keys took several times to open the doors. Kids enjoyed the water park though. I'll never stay at another Ramkota hotel again.
Love the rooms: clean, nice style, a lot of space. The bathroom is small compared to the room. There s a lot of parking space. And a big choice of shops and restaurants in the neighborhood. The hallways need to be cleaned and when someone walks by your room you hear everything. Overall a nice stay, close to attractions like badlands, custer, mt rushmore, crazy horse,....
Overall we had a great stay at the Best Western Ramkota Inn but we had a few issues that do drop my review of the hotel to a 3 star. First, the people at checkin were very helpful. Checkin was quick and they gave us a map and told us best place to park as the hotel is HUGE and could easily be confusing. The room was clean and the air onditioning worked wonderfully. Most rooms have a patio/balcony. Ours was on the first floor so we were able to back our car up in the lot to right outside our room and drop everything into our room through the door which was super helpful. The kids loved the pool area and the separate waterpark. The location is right off the highway which made it easy to get on the road to the attractions. Here are the few issues I had: -Fire alarm went off relatively early while everyone was still sleeping. All rooms filed outside. Then the alarm stopped. We never got an "all clear" or anything that it was safe to go back into the room so you had half asleep sleepy people outside for quite awhile. -Cleanliness of pool area - it was just messy. Towels everywhere. I stopped by in the morning right when the pool opened and ther were still a few towels/personal belonging all over the pool deck as if it was not cleaned at night -Pool deck near pool is very slippery when wet -There are no regulations around the pool. I was sitting at the pool will my kids and a group of young teenagers was at the pool - probably 20 kids. .They were out of control and their "responsible party" was ignoring the behabiors. They were putting the chairs in the pool/hot tub. They were sticking towels in the pool then hitting the deck really loudly or hitting people with the towels. I understand this is not the hotels fault BUT when the guy comes in to replace towels and looked around at the behavior and then does nothing about it it stinks for all other people enjoying the pool. He could of said something to them OR had a manger speak to them but nothing came of it and the behabior continued until pool closing. -The walls to the hallway are thin and heard a lot of noise in the hall but did not hear anything from next door or above. FYI - Pool hours were 0800-2200 No free breakfast but ate at Minervas and the food was great, prices reasonable, service was awesome
The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable. There was fridge and microwave, but like all hotels these days, a milk powder substitute was supplied, absolutely horrible. Our usual pet hate, the dreaded plastic shower curtain. WiFi was provided. The aircon was old and noisey. Parking was very easy, and the service was friendly.
Check in was fast. The location was convenient and close to shopping and restaurants. Rooms were recently updated with a great new layout that left room for coolers and shoes just inside the door. Pool / waterpark was clean with plenty of dry, clean towels.
I called ahead to request a room away from all elevators, outside doors and the pool. I specifically said that I'd be getting in late and leaving early and needed the quietest room possible. I'd booked 4 months in advance and called first thing in the morning. The woman who took the call was curt and disinterested. When I hung up the phone, I felt extremely nervous but as I had a 12 hour drive ahead of me, I let it go. There was nothing more I could do. I arrived to find an untrained staff member that did not greet me or know how to process a travel card transaction. The entire time she did not apologize or banter. The staff member that came over to assist was the same. It was as if I wasn't standing right there. After they figured it out, I asked if I could use their bell hop roller to transport 2 heavy ice chests to my room. The gal never once mentioned that there are rollers at almost every entrance and that, as my room was at the opposite end of the property, it'd be much easier to drive to the room and grab the roller nearest my room. That was irritating, but again she either was untrained or completely disinterested. I arrived to a room that REEKED of mildew. Having just driven 12 hours and dealt with the inept front desk people, I knew it was either another hour of hassle to switch, or just hunker down and try to get some sleep. I opted for the latter. After all this, I was placed in a room nearest an outside exit door and hallway exit door. See pictures. I would definitely not recommend this location or stay here again.
We were traveling through South Dakota on a cross country move and needed a clean, convenient hotel that would accept 3 cats. The Best Western Ramkota was one of the first places that said they would allow cats, and didn't make the stay costly because of them. The staff (front desk and room service) were really friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We appreciated that there was a room service option, especially because we didn't want to leave our pet alone. Although we didn't check out the pool/water park area, we would definitely come back to take advantage of that amenity. My only complaint is that we were placed in a room that was facing the highway, and the glass sliding doors that lead outside were not enough to dampen the noise. However, it was only a problem because it made our cats skittish and it was only a problem during day hours. That being said the access to our hotel room via the glass doors was super convenient for transporting pets and their supplies quickly and easily. Would highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling with animals.
Nice hotel, very helpful staff. Desk clerk was very knowledgeable of the area, gave us a map and highlighted all of the sights we wanted to see and the best road to get there. Also recommended a few other sights we should see. Fast check-in, and has a pool and water slide! Very convenient to the Interstate as well as the highway to Mt. Rushmore. The rate was very affordable, too! Highly recommend!
The room was beautiful. Seemed new. Very clean spacious rooms. Nicely appointed with coffee maker, microwave, mini refrigerator and iron with board. Plenty of room for parking. Lobby is beautiful with tile inlay of a bison. Fire place and sitting area is cozy. Staff at check in were wonderful. We did not try the on site restaurant, Minervas, but judging from the parking lot, it is popular! I wish all hotels were like this. Thank you folks at Best Western!
Great location to vacation a few days. Very simple, close drive to attractions we visited during our 3-day stay-Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park and the scenic byways between & around these points. Plenty of dining, gas station & shopping attractions in Rapid City.
I stayed for a convention and my only complaint is that the layout of the hotel is very spread out so I did a lot of walking to get from my room to the convention rooms. The customer service was great and check in and out was very speedy.
Good place to stay. Very easy access to room and parking was large and spacious.Employees very courteous and easy to talk to. Lobby was very large and beautiful with tiled picture. Restaurant next to lobby.
Stayed for about 2 weeks while traveling. Very clean, friendly staff, great restaurant. The only thing I wish they had (as well as all hotels) is a diaper genie or equivalent. Traveling with 2 in diapers gets stinky!
We stayed here in a suite for 3 nights. It was priced about right, the staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a large facility so our first night was a challenge trying to find the room. After that, it was great. There is a restaurant near the lobby, so no complimentary breakfasts. But the restaurant is a great place to eat and reasonably priced. They have a waterpark, but did not use it.
I loved the hotel. They accommodated my every need as a disabled person. They had a wheelchair accessible shower, peep hole and room that I could move around in with my wheelchair. I so appreciated it!
We stayed here August 2015-the hotel and water-park was nice. My complaint is that upon check in we were asked if you minded staying on the 2nd floor-no of course not...they didn't tell us that the 2nd floor was only accessible from stairs. So our family of 5 with lots of luggage, an air-mattress and all the junk little kids need when on a road-trip had to be taken up and down flights of stairs. The hotel is also very close to the freeway and when we tried to enjoy our balcony it was overlooking the Semi Truck lot and the freeway. The room was fine and the kids enjoyed the water park very much.
Room was nice upon arrival. Towels were extra big, which was nice and children loved the water park. Temperature of water park wasn't warm, did not seem like the room was heated. Pool could have also used a good vacuuming, dirt was visible. Housekeeping didn't take all dirty towels that were all left behind. Lastly while laying in bed you could hear every little noise in the hallway as if it was coming from your room.
Besides the building being a little confusing...the rooms were clean and updated and good for a night stay. There is a water park, which we could not use because we got there too late. I would stay here again for the value!
I stayed at the hotel and had dinner in the restaurant on 2/22/18. First, the bartender made a sinfully good dirty martini! A friend and I both ordered the fish dinner, which was lovely. The service was timely, and the food delicious. A treat!
Pictures made me think this would be great for my family but I wasn't happy. Had to speak with manager..My room was dirty. Dried mud on the floor, garbage under my sink, and a dirty tub with hair and soap scum in it. There were no towels in the pool area and when we finally got some they were still damp... The water was very cold in the children's area... My son spent most of the time in the small hot tub across the way that was packed full with about 10 people. There is NO casino as it says there is online. The food at the restaurant was less than decent. Not very warm or tasty. Definitely NOT worth the money they ask for it. Will NOT be wasting my money here again.
The main reason we picked the hotel is because the pool area for the kids to play and this is the best part and the only kid friendly part of the hotel. The restaurant was pricey and not kid friendly it took almost 2 hrs to eat which was not pleasant with kids. Other than right by the front desk or loud pool there is not a place for people to sit and visit. There were multiple drunk people in the halls that kept us awake as they were staggering to their rooms. Also it is hard to find a parking spot it seems as though there isn't enough parking for as big of a hotel as it is. The front desk staff that worked the Evening of the 10th were rude and very unhelpful but the bellhop was nice and friendly. Won't stay here again which is unfortunate as they do have a nice pool area for the kids but not worth the rest of the issues.
Stayed here in business for 3 nights. The folks at the front desk were wonderful, and I looked forward to a great stay. I was then given a room far away from lobby services, and past an active construction project in the hallway. The hallway was dusty dirty, and workers hauled drywall and worked well into the evening. It felt like I had been shoved back here to be forgotten. Not a quality experience. I am not wanting to sound harsh, but I was treated nicely at check in, and given an ok room in the portion of the hotel that should have been closed for construction.
Was in town for a conference and was very impressed with all aspects of this hotel. I travel quite a bit for work and this was one of the better hotels overall that I have stayed at. The rooms were clean, the staff and service were top notch and the price was incredibly low. The restaurant there was fantastic and reasonably priced as well. This is one of the few times I can say that every single member of the staff I encountered was helpful and pleasant. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rapid City.
We had a family gathering, and had a great time. The rooms were great the pool and fitness center also great. The staff was execellent. Loved our room and the convenience of everything. We can't wait to come back again.
Hotel is located adjacent to I-90, and near a complete selection of dining options, including fast food, and middle to middle-high restaurants. Gas station directly adjacent. Rooms are recently renovated and are easily accessible with the 'H' layout of the buildings. Offers pool for kids....
Check-in only took 2 minutes, and then we went down to the pool where we were able to enjoy the giant water slides. There was construction going on in the hotel but that didnt disrupt our stay. We were then able to get dinner and shoot a game of pool. The temps were below 0 and it was nice to have all the comfort and entertainment without having to go outside.
I loved it here huge rooms very clean only problem was the jets in the tub got stuck on maintenance came up and shut the power off until they could fix in the morning room service very fast and good loved the water area for kids
very nice property. Front desk gal that checked us in was awesome. You might consider keeping a corkscrew at the front desk for guests who forgot theirs!! Because the lounge closes early on Holidays we were unable to use one from them.
My wife stayed there on 12-26-17 and found the accommodations to be excellence. Room was up dated, decor very nice and the room and bathroom was very clean. Motel was very quiet. Desk Clerk was very friendly and helpful.Appearance of the lobby nice and clean. Motel does have a restaurant, with room service. Wife did not eat in the restaurant. First Best Western that either my wife or both stay at, that did not offer a free breakfast, however, room rate very reasonable. Would recommend this motel. Will stay there again when we are in the area.
Overpriced hotel that does not include breakfast. No elevator. Hotel is very large and difficult to navigate. When seeking directions from staff I was sent to the wrong areas and had to carry my luggage up and down the stairs while trying to locate my room. Hotel has a waterpark and therefore lots of noisy children in the hallways and nearby rooms. Exits were blocked either by poor architectural design or construction equipment. Would not recommend staying here for a relaxing night.
We have stayed at this hotel before and had an excellent experience. This time there was a function in the hotel and the noise was loud enough to prevent a good nights sleep. There were no parking spots to be had because of the function. We will probably stay again on our next trip through town and hope for a better experience. If not, it will be our last time at this property.
They are remodeling their rooms and we stayed in a finished room and it was not cleaned properly and had a terrible shower and tub in it.. it was quite to sleep ?? bit service was poor. Poor to average rating.
Very comfortable hotel with a good on-site restaurant. Room is very nice but TV reception was a bit fuzzy. Property is very convenient to local mall get to interstate 90. Room was very updated in modern. I recommend this spot
Great location near the mall and I90. Very good room that was very comfortable and warm. Great restaurant. Service was good. Front desk staff was atypically great since most hotel front desk staff is poor. They also provide airport shuttle which was very good.
The hotel was renovating a hallway of their rooms near our room but it was surprisingly quiet and the 2 room suite was extremely inviting. We had booked the king suite with the hot tub as we had been traveling for several days and needed the relaxation. Our young daughter was along and was super excited for the indoor waterpark, which they opened just for us and she had it ALL to herself! We were so tired after the days of driving and 2 hours at the waterpark we opted for room service and it was delicious. Portions were generous and the food was hot and tasty. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.
Excellent service, clean rooms, comfortable beds and all the amenities that you desire all under one roof !! The restaurant had excellent food and cold beer and the gambling hall was nice and clean and the machines paid $$
This hotel is not worth the money. They didn't bother to tell us that they were under construction. The restaurant in the hotel served nothing more than I could get by staying at a cheaper hotel and eating the continental breakfast. For what I paid to stay her I would ya e expected a lot more, especially when I have paid a lot less and received better services.
Our families had a very enjoyable weekend at this hotel. Friendly staff! Great Bteakfast! Great pools! Very helpful! They went above and beyond meeting all our expectations! We will sertainly be back again!!
This hotel is VERY DIRTY. We ised our points to stay here, and I will say I am thankful we did this and not have to pay for the room. We found dirty linen in our bathroom that was on the shower rod and folded on the shelves. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE.
The hotel room was nice, clean and comfortable. However, this place is a maze. Trying to find your way around in the building is rough. It's very easy to get lost. The corridor doorways are as narrow as regular doors. Therefore it's hard to tell the difference between a corridor or another room. First off we reserved a king room and checked in to find a double queen. We got it fixed, but not before an excuse from staff that we were told there was no king available when the room was reserved... Not true!!! Next... At approx. 6am a Trailways bus pulled up in front of our room and ran for about an hour. Our room filled with diesel exhaust and I would up with a pounding headache. I called the front desk to complain about this and to have the bus move away from the rooms. All I was told is that it was loading and would be gone soon. 20 minutes later it left. There's no excuse for that!!! It's a huge parking lot with room for bus parking far away from rooms. And the health and safety of guests obviously doesn't matter. Then. At 9 am my wife was in the shower, I was sleeping. I was woke up by a noise at the door, but just though maybe it was really a noise the wife was making in the shower. I heard it again and got up to investigate. It was the housekeepers trying to key my door to get it!!! I even had the "DO NOT DISTURB" card on the door!!! I knocked loudly from the inside and heard them scream out in he hallway. I scared them silly! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??? Thank God I wasn't in the shower! I talked to the hotel manager. All I got was basically, "Sorry, thanks for letting me know". Really??? Oh well! At least the undisturbed time in the room was nice.
The roadway signage was not on, so the hotel was not easy to find. The facilites and room were clean. The hotel did not serve breakfast, but there were fast food places nearby. There were two employees at the desk. One who was just learning was friendly the other was not so friendly. I would go there if I was on a trip in that area.
During check in I was greeted by the rudest man I have ever experienced inhospitality. He directed us by pointing out the door to show us where to go to find our room by the “door at the end of the building” so looking for clarification since it was dark outside and it was a big building I asked if the door was labeled. His response was “no it's just a door at the end of the building,” well Incase he is reading this, for future reference that door is labeled with a B. Secondly the water park has very limited hours—4pm-8pm to be exact. This would have been great to know when I called BW to book but instead the agent withheld that information as I described our busy weekend to her. Guess what, my kids never got to use the water park once, but I am sure we paid extra for that great feature!
We stayed at the hotel for a soccer tournament. Has a very interesting layout. Our room was clean and the staff was very nice. The hotel is close to the interstate and Rushmore Mall. It has a good water park with slides for kids too.
Just came back from a two night stay at Rapid City Best Western Ramkota. I would not stay here again, and would not recommend this hotel. My family travels to the Black Hills all the time and will choose HI Express over this next time. We booked this hotel because it had a water park for my nieces. When we arrived we discovered it was only open from 4 to 8 PM. We stayed for two nights but never got to visit the water park. This hotel has both interior and exterior doors. I have never had a room that had two entrances before. I did not feel safe. Very thin walls so very noisy. Bathroom not very clean. Only good things - the pool was very big, and the beds were comfortable.
Right off I-90. Minerva's restaurant on site. Near Burger King, AMC theaters, etc. Some hill views but not great. Under construction. Lots of families with kids on weekends so some noise issues. Rooms are big, with fridge and sliding door to patio. Very convenient for packing if on the first floor. Vast! cable service is excellent. Great, free Wifi. Somewhat confusing layout.
The Best Western Ramkota in Rapid City is very large. There is a whole cluster of 2 story buildings that seem to have been added one at a time over several years. They have a restaurant, water park. pool, and guest laundry. There is easy freeway access. I stopped overnight while passing through town on I-90. The room was clean and neat, perhaps refurbished. It had a nice balcony for summer. I noticed ongoing construction down the hall, apparently in the connection between sections. My room was cold when I arrived. I turned up the heat. It had one of those NOISY individual room heaters. It wasn't too obnoxious in the daytime but too noisy to run at night. I had to turn it off to get any sleep. That left the room cold. They provided only one of those cotton hotel blankets, and combined with turning the noise off it really wasn't enough. I did finally get to sleep until 3:30 AM when the smoke detector started beeping. Not a steady fire alarm beep, but plenty loud to wake anyone trying to sleep. I called the desk. They sent Security who removed the detector. “Dead battery” he said. (That is a maintenance issue). I was also somewhat concerned about sleeping in a room without fire detection. By then I was wide awake and COLD anyway. Time for a hot shower to warm up. Only the shower was also COLD. Its maximum temperature was just warm where it came out of the shower head, but cooled to chilly by the time if landed on my legs and feet. Brrrr! I fiddled with the faucet to make sure I was adjusting it right. Yep. It was just not provided hot enough to be satisfactory. I don't know if that is a maintenance issue or a cheap management issue. By then I was wide awake, cold, and unhappy. I packed up my luggage and left town before sampling their breakfast. This place was barefoot friendly
When we checked in no one acknowledged the Rewards program or bothered to tell us that the hotel was under some major construction and remodel. I could not enter where they told me to access my room due to ladders and workers. I understand they are trying to improve the facility but the surprise almost caused me to change locations. This is a huge facility and is a good location so I would return after the work is complete.
This location is a great place to stay when traveling in Rapid City. It has a great restaurant with a great atmosphere and a great bar with great service and clientele. Several locals frequent this location as well which is always a plus
I stayed at this facility with a tour of Mount Rushmore and the Buffalo Roundup this past week. It was not my choice, and I d on't know if I would have chosen it on my own. It is VERY large and the hike from our room to the lobby was very long. The room was clean, the bathroom was immaculate, and the staff was friendly. I had no problems at all with my room, but I understand others in our party did - mainly the keys didn't work in the doors. There is a restaurant on site (review later) but there is no breakfast for ordinary guests. We got breakfast every morning due to the negotiations of our tour director, but unlike other Best Westerns I have stayed in there was no buffet breakfast any morning (except someone mentioned Sunday brunch). I believe this hotel is mainly catering to conventions and reunions - not the general public.
We often travel to Rapid City and spend the night. We always stay at the Ramkota. This visit and my next were for medical purposes. I was glad to see the Eye Institute recommended the Ramkota. We will be staying there again in about 5 days. The Ramkota is near our favorite restaurants and near the mall for shopping. Ramkota is quiet for the most part, occasionally we stay and there is a school function going on and the kids can get noisy but they are kids and it is unde4rstandable.
Stayed over night and they were very accommodating. Room with a balcony, helpful staff, great place to stop over. Would highly recommend for business, travel, families, etc. Lois of fun w didn't partake in.
We have been on the road since Sept 11th and have stayed at many hotels. Best Western has usually been our preferred hotel. This one was a huge disappointment and we would not stay or recommend this particular hotel. At the start, the friendly greeting that we have received at other hotels and Best Westerns was not there. Both at check in and check out, it seemed the staff was occupied with other things than the customer. The clerk who checked us in gave directions to the room which was at the back of the facility. We had an ADA room and were sent to an entrance with steps. We drove back around and found the entrance without steps. We walked into the doors to find the room and the hallways were under construction and dark. We were not informed of the construction. Luckily the room was very nice. Then the hunt for a luggage cart. I went all the way up to the lobby (walking is difficult) which was a maze and distance. No luggage carts. I informed the desk clerk about sending us to an entrance with steps. She stated she had not been down there and wasn't aware. As to the luggage cart-no help there either. I luckily hunted one down. Check out was a non event. There was no thank you for staying with us, how was your stay, nothing. I knew I would be filling out a survey so no sense in mentioning when the caring wasn't there anyway. Before I retired, I trained employees on customer service. This hotel definitely needs some retraining on customer service. We have stayed at other Best Westerns that far exceeded this one. There is too much competition around the hotel to not be on top with customer service.
We stayed 7 nights. They only cleaned the room only 5 times. When we contacted the front desk, they did nothing to fix the room. They passed it off to the day shift. If you don't have kids, don't bother with the water park. Boring! Noisy halls. The restaurant on site is only ok. The only plus was it is close to the interstate, has gas station on site,, and easy to get in and out of. Not a good value for the money. My advice is to stay somewhere else!
The pool and water park were super crowded for their small size. The bed was hard for a pregnant body. Nice large (king bed) sized room for a toddler to run. The attached restaurant was okay at best, and the $30 spent for 2 adults and a toddler for the continential breakfast was a HUGE waste of money. Staff was friendly. The bathroom left something to be desired.
Stayed here for 4 nights for a business meeting. The hotel is an older 2 story motel style with first floor rooms you drive up to and can enter into via a sliding door. Easy for putting luggage into the room. Room was older looking fitting in with the obvious age of the place. Everything worked and wi-fi was easy to hook up to. Meeting rooms were large and very comfortable. Had conference food which was actually good and a little different than the usual, which was nice. It is a very spread out hotel and extremely confusing to navigate even with hotel maps. It is close to I-90 so travelling to Mt. Rushmore, Devils Tower or the Badlands was a breeze. Good choice for a short stay while travelling in the area but it is showing its age.
Very expensive for what it is, paper thin walls, outdated, noisy. Booked a suite, not at all what expected. 8 am on Saturday morning drilling outside of room in interior hallway, no need for wake up call or alarm clock. Much better options in rapid city for $$$.
All in all a pleasure. Don't leave anything in the back of your pickup or you will have to go buy it back from the pawn shop the next day. North rapid can be a little that way tho. Not the hotels fault.
Room was fine. Decent sized beds. Very large hotel. We were on the ground floor, so we heard a lot of other guests coming and going. Decent nights sleep though. Shame we didn't have time to check out the water park.
Staying at the Ramkota Hotel in SD was the first time we'd ever stayed at a real hotel. Normally, we go on-the-cheap and stay at a motel when traveling, but we were traveling across country, so we wanted a fun place to stay, and with the water park feature, it was indeed incredibly fun for our whole family! I was excited to learn that the price point was very nice as well. This was also the first time I'd ever felt comfortable in a rented room! It was so clean and it really felt like a home away from home. Everything was tidy and easy to find/use, and we felt very at home there. The water park was larger than I thought it would be -- the pictures online don't do it justice -- it really is a water park! :) After being in our car for 17+ hours the day before, it was absolutely wonderful to stay and play in the water with my family. Also, if you get the chance, the restaurant at the hotel is very yummy. We are vegan, and they were very attentive and pointed us to helpful options on the menu. I highly recommend this hotel for any occasion. :)
Best Western overall have given me the fair market value in my travel needs.Location is always important and they seem to find just the right spot .Sometimes parking gets to be a little tight but we always seem to get the big job done.
We checked after a long drive and were very tired. The room we were assigned had a dripping shower faucet and the next morning we discovered bugs in the room. We had reservations for two nights the Hotel offered to move us to a different room which they did. They were pleasant and understanding to help us I would give them a second chance because of there staff.
This Best Western Ramkota was perfect for our 6 night stay from the staff to the manager they were very pleasant and helpful in every way possible. The hotel was clean, close to highways, airport and downtown Rapid City. The restaurant was wonderful along with the staff. Happy Hours were from 3-6 and 9-11. Highly recommend this hotel to all.
This hotel was our base location for our travels to the attractions in the Black Hills & the Badlands. We had a suite that was clean, quiet & very spacious. The restaurant/bar offered good food & drinks & the servers were also helpful in giving us tips for our travels. All of the staff was VERY accomodating - we would definitely stay there again!!
This is an adequat hotel to spend the night. Nothing to write home about. The rooms were fairly standard but clean. It had more of a motel feel about it . Not sure I would spend more than one night here . I have to admit that the room did have a bit of a funky smell when we arrived but I am glad to report that we did not have any problems similar to those that we encountered in the last Best Western Hotel in Detroit which was simply horrendous.
This Best Western is a reasonably priced place to stay in Rapid City. We had a clean room the hotel itself is in a good location. The casual restaurant/bar in the hotel has very good food. We would stay here again.
This place was amazing from hotel staff to the water park, being dog friendly, being centrally located to all attractions, and can't tell you enough how the security of the hotel made us feel safe, and let me give a shout out to your local LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS who gave me the best directions including landmark back to the hotel after I got lost thank you guys,
I haven't got too much to say about this hotel as we arrived very late owing to British Airways messing up our flight. After 26 hours of travelling we were exhausted and we all got a good night's sleep which is pretty much all you can ask for. The guy on check-in was very friendly. The pool and water park looked amazing - I had booked the hotel for this and as we were so late we couldn't use it but I popped along the following morning to take a look. The hotel is actually much bigger than you think it's going to be, which probably justifies such a great pool. Only other thing to say is the breakfast - it looked like it was going to be one of those bog standard US hotel breakfasts, but then they had a make-it yourself waffle machine which produced possible the best waffles you'll ever have. Oh, and one other thing. I left my Kindle in the room. I rang the hotel the next day when I realised and they said they hadn't found it. I'm pretty such I left it under the pillow of my bed, which does make you wonder whether they change the sheets between guests??!!
Pool is great for the kids, but that's the only real shinning star here. Restaurant is very expensive and very poor quality for both meals we tried there, figured maybe the first one was a bad night for the staff, nope both were bad. When we ordered room service was told I couldn't charge to the room, went to front desk and they called restaurant and confirmed yes I can there is no issues, then they demanded cash payment on delivery anyways so needed to scramble for that. Room lock didn't work complained 3 times about it finally in morning we couldn't get out of the room as it wouldn't unlock so I had to go out the patio at 6am and walk around the hotel to front desk in order to get back into my room. Unimpressed this should have been fixed before we got locked in our room what if there was a fire God forbid!!!!
The room was clean. Bed was comfy. The staff was friendly and courteous and the bathroom was nice and clean. The TV could be raised a little so that you can see it better from the bed. The breakfast was fine - the waffles were good. Easy check-in and check-out.
There is a restaurant on site but no typical continental breakfast provided so take that into consideration when pricing places to stay. Our room had a separate outside entrance directly to our car's stall which was very convenient for coming and going.
Had a comfortable King sized bed and pull out couch. Was clean and comfortable. The complex is very large and rooms are a bit remote or motel like. No breakfast. Coffee and water available in lobby.. Quote a hike from our rooms but a welcome morning escape. Small gift shop and friendly desk clerks. The amount of room service treats laying around for the whole day was sort of gross to see and there are allot of maids around but not picking them up.. Overall it was a fine stay, but we'd prefer a more traditional hotel in the future.
The rooms at the hotel are actually quite nice, and I have no complaints of the room at all. The front of the hotel is fine, but the rest of the exterior and the hallways need to be brightened up. It felt like a creepy motel. The kids liked the water park, by basically everyone got injured in some fashioned. The large water slides are very fast, and they really need a lifeguard at the bottom, but don't. Overall the hotel is fine, but I don't believe I'd stay there again.
Fun pool and waterslide for kids. Rooms look better on the inside than what the property looks like for the exterior. Good value for the money, was disappointed on the fact that there is no continental breakfast offered.
We found the room to be large but layout was strange. The small refrigerator was right outside the bathroom and I ran into it during the night when walking out of the bathroom in the dark. The location of the microwave was also awkward. Our thoughts was if they would have taken a little less room for the room and gave a little bit more to the bathroom it would have made a better layout for the room and incorporated the refrigerator and microwave into a different location it also would have made more sense.
After a long day of hiking and adventure in the Black Hills I was looking forward to a comfortable bed and good night sleep. The bed was comfortable but the "convenient" location off of I-90 made it difficult to catch some good zzz's. The noise of traffic, slamming of doors, and a neighbor hurling in their bathroom couldn't be drowned out with a pillow over my head. Everything else was a perfect set up for a good rest - friendly greeting, comfortable and clean space. If you want a good night sleep, I'd think twice before staying here. There are several good options within a few blocks that are quieter, cheaper and include breakfast. For the cost and "convenience" this was not worth it. I'm getting in the road again, tired and not coming back.
It's an older hotel that is starting to show its age. It has a nice bar and restaurant on the property, they are both upper scale and on my he pricy side. The toilet in a he room did not flush very well and as a result kept getting clogged. The Internet in the room only worked occasionally and not that well. It is conveniently located to many attractions.
I've stayed at this hotel three times - each time during the Black Hills Rally (Sturgis Motorcycle Rally), and have had pretty good experience each time. The rate is probably fair, given what all hotels charge during rally week. The amenities overall are fine. I'm not a huge fan of the restaurant, but it will work in a pinch. The breakfast buffet is just ok. My biggest issue is with the taste of the water from the hotel faucets, in-room, and in what is served in the hotel. Too much chlorine taste.
I booked rooms a year in advance, at check in rooms were not what I booked and the help was less than caring. After years of booking here I was very upset at the overall attitude of the senior staff. Our rooms were not what we wanted and the location in the hotel would not allow a truck and trailer to park near the room. The room was in an alley like area with a large dumpster across from the rooms.
This hotel provides a good value in comparison to other hotels in the area during Sturgis Bike week. Good location for the good riding. Restaurant staff is the best. Biker friendly with multiple bike wash stations set up.
The lady and girl that were at the front desk were so nice and welcoming. We'll stay here again due to the wonderful lady that checked me in. Thank you Very clean courtesy was amazing grounds were clean our room was wonderful. Who ever was in housekeeping that cleaned our room did an amazing job.
Book this hotel because of the water park and not far away after spending the day at Mount Rushmore and crazy horse. I knew there was no breakfast due to the restaurant located inside this location so no big deal. Overall experience was great. Clean rooms for a good price when you think of what's included for your use. Think of it as baby steps to a water park hotel compared to great wolf lodge. My only complaint is there isn't enough washer and dryers available. I needed to wash clothes since it was almost the halfway point of vacation and played in the water park. Had to locate the 2nd wash room since the first was in use and had a broke dryer. Each room only had a pair which were kind of old school style. And please put a clothes line in the bathroom so people can dry their clothes after playing in the pool/water park. Everything else was excellent here.
We were very pleased with our stay at the Best Western Ramkota. The room was super clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Location is convenient to the airport, restaurants, shopping and downtown is not too far away. We would definitely stay again if in the area. I think the rates were a little high because of the Sturgis Rally but still a good value.
The water park feature was a welcome surprise to help the kids unwind after a long week of driving. Accommodations were great. The room was large, fairly clean, as for how most hotels are. Carpets could use some cleaning. Wish there was Continental breakfast. Pets were allowed, always a plus when travel with your pet.
I was a little concerned about the size of the Hotel (it's kind of like a college campus!).But I was greeted with respect when I checked in, and was upgraded to a King Suite without asking. The room was very comfortable, if not a bit outdated, and very clean. I was happy with my stay, I will stay again!
Pricey. Room was clean and comfortable. Very large facility. We had a quiet location off the back side of the hotel. We enjoyed a private happy hour on the grass inner courtyard. They seem to pack in the travelers. No Breakfast option. Convenient to interstate.
Good stay. A little overpriced. Service was adequate. Service in the restaurant was excellent. Room was a bit dark and outdated. Room was clean. Good location. No elevator. Great pool and water slides.
Paid $135 for a room that turned out to be on the back side of property on second floor with no elevator. Was told that was the room rate we signed up for ( we went through a dot com hotel site). Smallish room but in good order. Overall vib of the entire property was quite poor. Was hesitant to do another Best Western for our next night but the location (in another city) was perfect. We paid $99 for that one and it was awesome in every aspect. Suggest you pick another property for staying in Rapid City if you can.
For the price, you may be better off booking a different hotel. This one does not offer breakfast. We had booked early, requesting a rollaway. Many items were left out of our room on our second and third day and we had to ask for them. The bathroom had a urine smell - like it hadn't been mopped. We ended up checking out early.
Love this motel and the restaurant Minervas. The motel is conveniently located to Mount Rushmore and several other attractions. I would recommend this motel for comfort and convenience. If we go back out west we will definitely stay there again.
Overall we had a good experience. Large hotel. We were in building F. We were on the second floor and there were no elevators. Dragging luggage up the steps was well, a bit of a drag. Location was conveniently close to the highway. We had a two queen room and it was a good size. There was no breakfast and for the price of $550 (with all fees) for 3 nights I would expect some type of breakfast. At least fruit and a muffin or something. There was a water park and pool in the hotel. My 13 year old wasn't too impressed, but I would think younger kids would really like it.
Outside slides got us but hotel was bad. The first room smelled of smoke. Then they moved us and said it happens. The second room smelled better but the overall hotel halls smell of smoke. When I told them they said, "oh ok thank you."
This hotel is only 2 stories, but has multiple connected buildings. On the plus side, in bad weather you can stay inside just about all the way from the farthest corner to the lobby. On the down side, it seems to take forever to get anywhere in the facility. There are no elevators, so if you get a room on the 2nd floor pack light! Rooms are recently renovated and very comfortable and clean. Good amenities in the room. There is a waterpark on site. I did not visit, but would be a good place to take the kids during your stay.
We were coming in to Rapid City a day earlier than we expected, so we were looking for a place to stay on a Saturday night. Most of the hotels were booked up, but this hotel had a room available, and when we called, they mentioned they had a water park also. We booked the room while we were still 4 hours away. When we arrived, we found they did not supply breakfast. While not a deal breaker, that was the first disappointment. The room was small and dated, but clean. We found that the A/C did not work well enough to cool the room so we sweat all night. Also, the bathroom fan did not function. The desk told me it was a central fan so i wouldn't hear it run, but the steam and odors unfortunately filled the hotel room.
We stayed at this hotel July 13-17 for our National Park Travelers Club Convention. The first and biggest drawback of this hotel is there is no breakfast included. It seems every other Best Western we have ever stayed at has a breakfast. Not this one Anyway, there was a fridge (with freezer compartment) in our room, so we got our own breakfast "fast food" and ate in the room. If you are people that like a good breakfast, you will pay extra for that at this hotel, and it's not cheap. Otherwise, our stay was great. Spacious room, coffee in the room, fridge, microwave, flat screen TV, And, REMOTE WITH SLEEP TIMER! If you have read any of my previous reviews, you know this is something I love! Everything was clean, we slept good, beds were very comfortable. The configuration of this room, is that the sink is in the same area as the shower/toilet, so takes longer to get ready in the morning. However, there is a mirror/ shelf area where they put the coffee, that helps facilitate that situation. All hotels need more lighting, including this one. At least there were plenty of outlets to plug in chargers. Also, air conditioning was quiet and adequate. Restaurant and bar were good here, no complaints. There is a pool and water park here, which I did not use. One of my friends used the pool, and said it was good. This is a huge hotel, and sometimes its difficult to find your way around. Anyway, over all great stay except for the breakfast. Also, my impression is that rooms in the back are quieter and you can load and unload your car through the sliding glass door. No elevator at this hotel, so if hauling your luggage up to the second floor is a problem, ask for a 1st floor room.
Best Western has had a decent reputation for clean rooms, courteous staff and for being pet-friendly but this was not the case for us this time. The room was small, dingy, and dark. Our room wasn't ready when promised, the internet did not work in the area where our room was located, the coffee machine was broken; the sliding door took a great deal of force to open; the dog area had poop bags provided but no place to dispose of it. All in all, we did not have a pleasant stay.
We stayed here for 5 nights as a central location to all the Black Hills attractions and for a travelers club meeting. The front desk service on check in was a bit slow and curt. Housekeeping was inconsistent - one day, bed wasn't made; two days in a row, no restocking of the shampoo/conditioner. We called to front desk - got a curt response again. We were told they were too busy to bring one up, and the bellhop was at break. If we wanted it right away, it was best to come down and get it. Bathroom was a bit cramped. The location was great though. The Minerva's Restaurant was really good. All in all, average in quality.
Rooms are updated and clean. No free breakfast but the mini water park is AMAZING! Our 4 kids loved it! The pirate theme is fun and the smaller slides are great. Lots to climb on, in and play with. The tube slides are huge, dark and wicked fast, perfect for big kids and adults (and the occasional brave younger kid). With all this entertainment who needs the boring lap pool and hot tubs across the hall?! Or tv for that matter! Great hotel!!!
I am a member of another hotels elite services and usually only stay with them. Due to a last minute booking was unable to get a room. I booked at the BW Ramkota Inn- wow very surprised at the level of service and value. I will definitely stay here again- ps if you have kids the indoor water park is a big bonus- IMPRESSED with the property
Best Western has always been our first choice. Therefore, we will look for one whenever we pass thru a city or town. The service is the best, and the breakfasts really help out the traveler on a budget. We are greeted with friendliness at the front desk and treated with helpfulness. Just like a family.
This is absolutely amazing place to stay with kids - indoor water park is simply amazing, kids loved it! The place is clean and quiet. It is a dog friendly hotel. The only downside was no breakfast and no cook top or utensils in the room. They, basically, force you to use their on-site restaurant.
This motel is very clean, very nicely decorated and has a a fun water park for children. It doesn't have a continental breakfast which would have made the days easier for me and my grands, but overall this is a fine place to stay. This was our second stay there in two years.
We stayed over the Fourth of July weekend and, even though the hotel is large and caters to families, our room was quiet. Comfy beds. Pool was a bit cold, but clean. Our kids loved the water park! Front desk staff was helpful.
I think the price of 149 a night is high considering they dont even provide breakfast. We walked through to the lobby at 9am and saw an employee carrying the coffee containers towards the front desk. My husband heard one of the employees talking about someone bringing them donuts. We walked over to where the coffee should be and realized the employee had taken all the coffee leaving the guests nothing but ice water. It was only 9am. Also, be prepared to walk a long way to your room. Ours was on the other side of the hotel. We got lost twice. Its like a maze. Also , no elevators. Wont stay here again.
Overpriced for mid-grade hotel. Water park was not exactly worth the price of the stay. They do not offer a free breakfast, but rather have a restaurant on site. Request a first floor unit as there is no elevator.
Stayed there for the water park and pool as we had the granddaughter with. The water park had such a strong chlorine smell that we couldn't stay in there that long. We didn't get maid service the first day we were there so that was disappointing. The restaurant was awesome!
The location was good, but the overall maintenance of the room was lacking. The exterior room door had a rusted hole and there was water damage around the a.c. unit. The restaurant was good but way overpriced. No free breakfast.
this property is huge. absolutely huge. our room was at one end of the property and the lobby and restaurant was at the absolute other end. a real inconvenience. the way the hotel is constructed, the many halls from the several bldgs are connected, so doors closing (and it's amazing how many doors close btwn 10pm and 6am, loudly), kids running the length of the connect halls cause it's fun, screeching along the way, seminar and conference people milling about outside the meeting rooms creating such a hub-bub echoing down the hallway. if it wasn't the cars and motorcycles outside in the parking lot, it was the racket in the hall. it wasn't until the day after we checked in that i realized i had not been asked if i wanted extra points or a snack bag. so i checked at the desk. the gal, was ashamed that she'd forgotten and to 'make up,' gave us points, along with a snack bag. i'm just glad hubby asked me to check into it. we were really disappointed not to have at least a continental breakfast available to us as gold crown members. minerva's menu was limited and expensive. we were quick to find other breakfast places in the area.
Our family was able to get a late check in at this awesome, large, beautiful, clean and fun hotel. This place seems to have every accommodation under one roof! They have spacious, comfortable, clean rooms. We stayed in a two room, two king, whirlpool tub, kitchenette suite. We were also pleased to meet a gentleman named Tyler. He was so polite and courteously gave us a tour of the hotel to find our room, the pool area, the water park area, our closest exits, the restaurant and the vending area. He even went to the next step and put the pack and play for our infant and the linnen in our room. He got the # for my favorite Pizza place, Poppa John's! He did this all with a smile on his face! Thank you Tyler! The whole family had such a blast at the Waterpark! It was such a great lay out! My husband and I wish we had more time to play there with the kids! SO MUCH FUN!
this was an awesome stop for the grandkids. After a long day of sightseeing and playing the waterpark pool was so refreshing for them. Had a hard time getting them out for bed glad it had a closing time The restaurant was a tad pricey for what they offered
Our room was a standard one on the ground floor. We liked the access to the outside via a very nice patio door in addition to the inside hallway. Everything was spotless and the room (2 queen) has plenty of space. The staff was efficient and friendly. We did not use the on-site restaurant (which appeared to be a very nice one) but there is access to others nearby. We were pleased with the furnishings and the lighting is great.
The rooms were a very good size. Had plenty of room. I love that we could have our dog along with us. The pool was fun for the whole family. I do with Best Western would do continental breakfasts. Rooms were clean, bathroom could have used a little more attention but wasn't bad. Thanks!
Very nice clean room, asked to switch rooms to one away from the highway which was no problem at all, close to shopping and movie theatre, restaurants within short driving distance. We would stay here Again!
As my plane was late getting in, the evening general manager came and picked me up himself. The property is very large, so the security staff team member walked me all the way down there to insure I found the room ok. At every turn, the staff went out of there way to exceed expectations.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The waterpark is great for younger kids, and the pool is perfect for older children. The pool size couple accommodate a lot of guests without feeling crowded. Only concern people should have is second floor access. There is no elevator, and it can be a long walk to the lobby and hotel amenities. Great hotel close to restaurants and shopping too. Also convenient location close to the freeway.
Our family loves this hotel! We have passed through Rapid City twice in the past few years, and our kids love staying here and playing at the water park! The hotel staff is super friendly and accommodating and the the hotel itself is clean and great for families. Highly Recommended!
The walls in the room had food smeared on them. The pool was COLD and the tile around the pools was super slippery. I had both kids fall in the pool area and seen at least 3 other people slip. Also would be nice if they offered at least some sort of breakfast
Well located, near airport, good jumping off point for a day in the Badlands. Indoor water park great attraction for kids, our teens even enjoyed the water slides. Rooms typical, clean, comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Roll away bed rather lumpy, but it was a roll away!!
Recently the hotel has been renovated and now the rooms are clean, spacious and nicely decorated. It has everything you want: indoor pool, restaurant, bar and garden. However there was no warm welcome, just the necessary questions asked. After one night we left our room at about 10 am and when we returned, the room was not cleaned, beds not made, no clean towells. At the front desk we were told that housekeeping started their round at 8 am and that when they passed your room and saw the don't disturb sign, they did not come back later to clean your room and we just got new towells. Half an hour later the emergency alarm went off, everyone left their room and we stayed outside for at least 20 minutes without any information. I wrote an email to the hotelmanager, who answered the next day by explaining both situations: housekeeping had worked late because of the end of the renovation and the staff had to wait till the firebrigade authorized to turn the alarm off. She did not regognize that they should have informed us about what was going on, denied my discontent and did not offer any compensation. My advice: let the manager follow a course in service and communication with clients and untill then: there are enough other hotels in Rapid City.
When we arrived we found that they were holding an International Computer Show. Guests were arriving in coaches for this event and unfortunately we arrived at the same time. On previous occasions such as this we found that coach parties were dealt with by one member of reception and individual arrivals welcomed by another. Not here. We had to stand and queue for a long time (or rather my husband did as I am disabled and unable to stand in one place for any length of time). When he eventually got to the counter they were pretty unfriendly. The following morning we went to see what the situation was regarding breakfast only to find there were no staff members in the Restaurant so we left and ate elsewhere. We were quite happy to do so as we felt they didn't deserve any more of our money.
It was a very good stay. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly. The room was clean and very comfortable. My daughters had a great time swimming in the swimming pool. It was hard trying to pull them away.
Stayed 4 nights in a suite. Room was a great size and nicely decorated. Water park was wonderful for the little ones. The refrigerator still had food in it for previous guest, there were food crumbs on sofa and table. Carpet hadnt been vacumed and the bathroom floor was dirty and sticky. Shower looked as if it hadn't been in cleaned in some time. Day 2 we left do not disturb on door, but housekeeping still came in an made the beds and left towels. When I told the front desk about these issues they didn't seem to concerned. Over all we did enjoy our stay. After along day the bed was wonderful. Just wish the room would have been cleaner and privacy respected.
We had a great time using the water park during our two night stay. Front desk staff seems to forget they are working in the hospitality industry, or maybe since we are from the south I expect a little more. No one at the desk seemed to care that we had chosen their hotel over the dozens of others in the area. No hellos or welcomes when entering or thank you for staying with us or hope you stay with us again if you are in the area at check out. Felt like I was interrupting social time every time I came to the desk. Other staff, housekeeping, maintenance, and water park staff were all very friendly though and spoke hellos and good mornings.
The kids loved the water park! We were placed in an suite but noticed a leaky kitchen via wet carpet. The staff immediately moved us and began work in the room. They were kind and efficient! The bed was super comfortable and it was the best 2 nights of sleep of our 10 day trip out west!
We stayed 5 nights in a room with a sliding glass door to an outside porch area. The glass made it hot and noisy. Thankfully the air con (also noisy) worked well. Water park is great. Beds were comfy.
If you are by car, then it is an ok option. You get what you expect in a Best Western hotel chain. Rooms where ok (I used 2 different ones, the larger room was quite nice), the swimming pool and water tubes were nice. Food was just ok, staff had bad and good days (I stayed 5 days there). Overall, an ok experience.
This is a full service Best Western. This hotel had 2 features that I really liked. 1. If you have a first floor room, good chance you have 2 doors, one to the hallway, the other to the parking lot. Very easy to unload your vehicle. 2. Location, within a 10 min walk you had several restaurants t choose from, a shopping mall, and a movie theater. Other features - the hotel has a water park that will help tire the kids. The gas stations is right next door and offers a reduced price if staying at the hotel. Easy access right off I90. Stayed 2 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great stay wonderful rooms Service was great easy access to everything wonderful help Front desk was very good and courtesy everything was clean And fresh Very easy to get there right off of interstate 90 ext 59 which is great when you are out there for sightseeing
First and foremost: The bed (king size) was about as good as I have found during my travels. The roam was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. There is no continental breakfast as there is an attached restaurant, which I might add is a little pricey especially considering the average quality meals served. The rooms had a typical sized refrigerator, but it did not have an ice box. The room did not have a microwave. I would have given the rating one more button if the ice box in the fridge and a microwave would have been provided.
We came to Rapid City, SD for vacation and found this hotel with the water park and just fell in love with it. The room is clean, great service, fast internet and superb indoor pool and water park, also great location close to places to eat or shopping and Mount Rushmore!!
The hotel is conveniently located on I-90 and to downtown Rapid City. The hotel offers great meeting rooms, very good food and a relaxing bar. Has a beautiful pool and play area...I did not use. Room was very modern and updated, clean and more than comfortable. I enjoy staying here when the opportunity presents itself.
This hotel's room had a bad odor that I can't quite identify. I started up the A.C. but that didn't get rid of it completely. When I showered, I found myself standing in water because the drain is plugged and empties very slowly. Upon checkout, I found that one of the three travel cards I had presented was not credited to my bill. The desk guy had no knowledge of how to fix the problem. None at all. I will never return to this hotel.
The price was fair, the pool fantastic. Overall, I have discovered that people are rude and show no respect for anyone else. No one is quiet in the hallways anymore or considers that other guests may not be on the same sleep schedule as they are. Not the hotels fault but maybe signs are required to remind people that they're not the only ones on vacation!
I decided to spent the extra money to have a small water park for my little girls. Upon arrival I was required to sign a long list of rules for the water area. Thinking it was going to be a great adventure...it was a huge mess! Absolutely no supervision in the kids area, most guests not following the posted rules! Extreme chaos, unsupervised children, and big groups without the required wristbands. Over crowded and unenjoyable.
We picked this hotel because of the water park and the location. Our kids loved the water park and played in it for hours. Ages 4 and 6. The hotel was clean and decor was modern. Rooms were quiet. Only issue was no coffee after 9 in the lobby. Not a huge deal, but for a person like me who needs a lot of coffee to function and have a good day, it did affect my stay. Also restaurant on site served my husband a burger on an incredibly stale bun.
Best Western Ramkota a great place to stay ! The rooms were very comfortable, the House Keeping service was great and professional, front desk service was helpful, we had a great time at the pool also !
For the price and what you get in the rooms, this place cannot be beat! Easy in and out with the expressway so a good place to stop for the night. We were excited to hear their was an indoor water park which we checked out and hence the reason for the 4 stars as it was a big let down...water was cold and really catered to the 8 and under crowd.
My stay at the RC Ramkota was excellent. The hotel was clean and so was the conference rooms. The banquet staff was amazing and the food was excellent. The staff were very helpful with food options because of my food allergies.
The suites at Ramkota in Rapid City are beautifully decorated, the staff are professional and price is beyond reasonable for what you get. My suite was super clean, no complaints, internet was quick, water park and pool were fun. Very satisfied with my family experience!!!
The good: I love the water park for my little kids. Not crowded. Big enough but not huge. Lots of towels n chairs. Room clean and comfortable. The bad: Despite checking in with my kids by my side and getting wrist bands for the warerpark for the evening they put us in the farthest room possible from the waterpark! Instead of putting us in a room we could pull right up to the door they put us on the second floor with a barking dog down the hall. I requested a crib and had to ask twice. When it arrived it had no sheets, no pillow and no blanket. We had to go out to our car and get what we could as I wasn't comfortable asking for something again. I'm sure I will take my kids again for the waterpark but will have to be more specific when requesting rooms or needs as obviously the staff not very observant.
This hotel has it all-a fabulous restaurant, beautiful suites, a waterpark that our kids enjoyed, and beyond adequate meeting/banquet space. I have attended conferences here in the past and really enjoyed what they have to offer. Tonight I am here with my husband and two young children and the accommodations are perfect. This hotel is suitable for all travelers. It is perfectly located-just off of Interstate 90 and next to the Rushmore Mall, newly updated, features free parking and wifi, and has a stellar rewards program. I would recommend the Best Western Ramkota Hotel to anyone seeking lodging in the Rapid City area!
We always make sure we make it to this hotel when we travel out west, it is by far one of the best! The restaurant has great food and the lounge area is very inviting. My only complaint would be that there is not a free breakfast, sometimes you are just in a hurry and would like something lite and fast. Other than that, no complaints!
Checked in a day early for a business trip. Initially was billed $30 more than what was quoted to me. The room was fine but there was no elevator and we had quite a bit of luggage due to the length of stay which made numerous trips up the steps. The wait staff at the lounge was never happy and always seemed that it was too hard of work to wait on us.
Having stayed at multiple Best Western Hotels, I was surprised this time. We arrived after dark and it was difficult to find our room, we were on the 2nd floor and they do not have an elevator, the bathrooms were quite small with very little room to put things, and our room did not have a refrigerator. We were pleased with the food at Minerva's, the restaurant on site. They do not serve a complimentary breakfast.
This hotel is a little tired at the moment. However their is clear evidence that the tem are upgrading this property. The reception staff did their very best to make sure that all our requests were met. Even though she had a bad cold she was very pleasent and chatty. Our room was large and had all the amenities that we required.
We attended a convention here. Overall, for a convention, it was a very good visit. Very reasonably priced for both room and meals. The food and service for the convention were good. As other reviews indicate, the place is a bit dated. I hope when they update again, they will switch from brown linens to white, which can be bleached. Little touches like that make hotel stays nicer. We have to come back again next year for the same convention, and we will stay here again. I like that your room rental includes water park passes. We'll remember that next year. FYI: There is a gas station across the street with access to convenience store items, if you need them.
Everyone we encountered at the hotel was very pleasant and very helpful as we did not know our way around. Although we did not have children with us, it was nice to know there was an indoor water park. Loved the location, just off Interstate 90. Easy on and easy off.
Stayed several times in past years. Like the convenience of pulling up to outside door to unload. Comfortable and clean but very dated but since I am only staying one night and not thinking of buying the place it is just fine and the restaurant and bar are excellent.
We got here early in the day and we're able to check in earlier. They do not offer breakfast with the hotel stay but the amenities are great. There is a nice restaurant in the premises and the water park, pool and fitness center are nice. Very clean, quiet, easy access and nearby multiple restaurants and a mall.
This is a lovely hotel. It's pretty nice-looking, and the lobby is spacious and very western. The rooms are big, well appointed, and very clean. The laundry works well and is priced reasonably. I had a fabulous salad from the restaurant, priced reasonably, as well. The staff was kind, friendly, helpful. It's a terrific hotel! One thing to note - my room did not have a refrigerator. It was cold enough during the night of my stay that I could leave my food in the car, but just be advised.
Being that this is a convention place and water park I can understand whey there is not breakfast offered, but I missed it. The restaurant looked busy even though we picked up sandwiches elsewhere, I would have enjoyed trying it for supper. But for breakfast, it would have taken longer than we wanted to take so we went to nearby Burger King. With the water park, it would be a great place for family when going to Black Hills or Mt. Rushmore areas.
This place is huge. Seven buildings with hotel rooms, two convention centers, plus meeting rooms, In-door pool and a water park as well. Minervas restaurant has great food, and fantastic service. Would stay again. next time, maybe see Mt. Rushmore.
This is an awful hotel. The rooms are old, dark and have a terrible atmosphere. The lobby is beautiful but that's all that is nice. We booked a nice room but threnody got put in a terrible old motel feeling room. We asked to change. The front desk lady did but she wasn't happy about it. She said the second floor rooms were remodeled but she didn't give us one of those as she said she would. She gave us a dingy awful suite. If it hadn't been so late 9pm we would have cancelled and went somewhere else. I would never come back here. Also the restaurant closes early which they don't tell you. I would give this zero stars if I could.
We usually stay at Best Western when we travel, as we typically like the quality of the hotel. This time we were disappointed. The good: --The young lady at the desk who checked us in was very pleasant, --The bed was very comfortable, --Bathroom was clean, though unattractive The bad: --the bedroom carpet was stained and filthy, --the windows in the sliding door onto the patio were dirty inside and out, -- the veneer on the inside of the bathroom door was peeling off at the bottom, --bathroom wall was stained We would not stay here again.
Perhaps this review is through rose colored glasses. This was an overnight crash-and-dash business trip to Rapid City...and we have a corporate rate at this hotel. SO---I may be looking at value in a different light. The AAA rate I found is $119 so. I'm going to review as though THAT is what I paid. The room I was in was 1110...with an inside hall and outside door. At 36' x 15' with two queen beds, an easy chair and ottoman, work desk and chair, straight back arm chair, 4-drawer low-boy dresser and night stand and a suitcase stand, there was PLENTY of room left! Best Western wants to be known for cleanliness, and it was. Yes, the property has "age" (especially if you look for it). However, from experience, I've paid a "good rate" ($140) at a property 3 blocks down Lacrosse on the other side of I-90 with the same "vintage"...but no pool for the kids...(THIS hotel has a water park!). Obvious "Pros"...size of room, cleanliness, 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels, 4 wash cloths...(surprising how often they don't supply enough)...and they were fairly soft, (so the laundry is doing something right also). Check in was friendly and straight forward. OK---no "complimentary" breakfast. I'm old enough to understand "nothing in this world is free (or complimentary)." It's in the price you pay. Now...true enough if you're traveling as a couple...this place is a-ok...because a couple of made-to-order breakfasts (WAY better than a standard "complimentary" breakfast)...would be in the room rate otherwise. Now...you've got a couple of kids to feed? You could go to the nearby Burger King I suppose...or, end up paying more at Minerva's (fine dining restaurant attached to the property). I can't make that call... (My Minerva's review will be coming up). For me at least, the value was outstanding. If I were in a hurry to get going, I could go fast food on the way out...go to Denny's across the street...or have a quality meal, conveniently located at Minerva's. Oh...yeah...did I forget to mention they have a WATER PARK? How much is THAT worth to a couple-three kids? (Minerva's might have a kids menu with lower prices...I just don't know that. So...maybe I'm looking through rose-colored glasses, but wouldn't hesitate to stay there again! (Close to the mall, Hobby-Lobby, Toys r Us, Walmart, restaurants, etc).
Convenient location. Gym leaves a lot to be desired, and no complementary breakfast. Other than that the tv, bed, and room did the job. Comfortable and quiet. Not a bad place at all, just a little older.
This BW is connected to a restaurant but there is no complementary breakfast. So just a basic room. Seems to cater to conventions and meetings, not to travelers. Very long walks from room back to the annexed restaurant. With an annexed restaurant, I would expect BW to offer a 10% discount at the restaurant for guests.
The hotel is situated next to the interstate so easy access, however the acoustics were loud, you could hear doors banging and the housekeeping knocking doors at 07:30 in the morning. We stayed 2 nights and when we returned for our 2nd night the room was not made up, which is not what I expected from a "Best Western" hotel
The pool area was fun but not well kept, I found lots of hair in the pool. A gross room service tray with dirty dishes sat in the stairwell for two full days, when I woke up and noticed it was still there we decided to switch hotels, I couldn't stand to look at it another day. They did not change our sheets even though they were clearly dirty, baby food on one bed and some blood on the other, the beds were just poorly made with the dirty sheets. Bummer as it could be a very fun place to stay.
This hotel provided excellent service and comfort in all areas. We stayed there 10 days and were very happy. I have special needs with my allergies and house keeping worked to make my room perfect. The beds were comfortable and the rates were good. The front desk helped in ways that I did not expect. The pool is large and the water was the perfect temperature. Although I did not use the children's pool area it was truly a sight to see and I wished my grandchildren could have played in it. I would highly recommend this place. I would go back in a heart beat.
Great place to stay. Clean, Nice accommodations. Staff is nice. Very comfortable atmosphere. Did not need to eat in the hotel restaurant because of other meetings. Walking distance to shopping and plenty of restaurants. Security watching the parking lot.
My Husband & I stayed here on our way home from a trip out west Staff was accommodating & friendly upon check in Our room was comfy, cozy & had everything we needed for a great night stay Plenty of towels, soaps, shampoo, lotion & hairdryer The hotel was clean, updated & quiet We would recommend this hotel
A typical motel with a good restaurant. Very easy to access. Rooms are typical size; clean, comfortable and we loved the added touch of the towel sculpture. Plenty of towels, ice and vending machines in the lobby of each building. Good pool and water complex. Only downside is road noise but it doesn't stop you sleeping.
This is a beautiful hotel. It is in a great location. We stayed there two nights while doing the Mt. Rushmore tour through Ft. Hays and spent time touring Rapid City and the area. Very nice room. We had a suite that had a refrigerator and microwave, but not all rooms have them. Clean-Beautiful hotel. It has a very nice pool area and waterpark, , with pool table and hot tub.Our room had a beautiful decor' with a horse theme, everything was beautiful. It had a double sink and a nice shower. There is no breakfast, but there are alot of restaurants in the area. We ate at Perkins.
The beds at the Hotel were not comfortable at all. They needed to be replaced. The lighting in the room was dim. The location of the hotel was fine. When we got to our room, we noticed the A/c was not cooling at all. It had to be replaced. The hotel maintenance man was very quick in replacing it. He was very friendly, also.
I was very pleased with this facility the cleanliness of the rooms and pool areas were above satisfactory. My standard room was very spacious with fridge and micro, very comfortable beds and walk out to pool entrance was a bonus convenience. 6 passes to pool was generous for our room with 3 people registered. Was able to have family kids come visit and enjoy. Minerva's restaurant was a delicious dinner. I come to SD often to visit family I will definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed how clean our rooms were, they were the cleanest we have ever had!! Your suites are beautiful and the décor is awesome!! The waterpark was so much fun!! We had never stayed at a Best Western before but our experience was wonderful. My Sister was sad that we had to leave and my Dad was happy with his suite because he likes to stay in vacation rentals but he said this experience was just as good as a vacation rental. My family loved the waterpark. We had a wonderful trip due to the accommodations at Best Western and if we are in Rapid City again we will stay there again and we will recommend this to other people we know that will be going to South Dakota.
My partner, son and I stayed for one night in a dated room in this fairly dated and expansive hotel. Is decent for families, particularly with the indoor water park. Note that while there are only 2 floors, there is no elevator so getting our luggage to the room was a bit challenging. Will probably look for a different hotel next time.
The first difficulty was finding the building. They give you a map and you are sent out to find one of many buildings which are not adequately labeled. The next challenge is getting your things into your room if you are, as I was, unlucky enough to be upstairs as there are no elevators. The third challenge is trying to sleep when the toilet runs all night. And if you are thinking $160 a night for one person in an adequate bedroom is going to pay for your breakfast then you are wrong – breakfast is not included. I would not recommend this hotel.
Great stay for the two nights I was there. Only slept, no on site activities involved during stay due to working in another area. Ate breakfast on last morning, food was excellent and staff was very nice.
Sadly, No time to use the pool or the free water park but looked like fun place for kids. Nice lobby, staff at checkin friendly and efficient. Got good rate, room was clean, king size bed comfy. AC worked well. Nice TV. Our room opened to inside hall or right to car & liked outside entry option! Easy access to anywhere, close to lots of restaurant options. Overall a good location. I'd stay here again.
Hotel was conveniently located, however, the value of the room and amenities were very disappointing in comparison to the amount paid for the room. It was quite noisey and difficult to find your way around since it was so spread out.
We enjoyed staying at best western ramkota , Mount Rushmore 30 min away driving from best western ramkota , everything was good location , size of the room and staff . I always leave my room messy and come back found it clean and new ( thanks to the house keeper Asheka ) she was the best . Nearby walking distance cinema , restaurants and shops .
Efficient and friendly check in and assigned a large room on the top floor with king bed as requested Spotlessly clean and fresh room with desk and chair, lounge chair, large flat screen TV – fast internet No complimentary breakfast - but nice restaurant on site Beautiful hotel, nice restaurant, bar and pools, and water park on site. Lots of restaurants within a short drive
We decided to get a room here at the last minute while passing through Rapid City. We had 2 dogs and 2 kids with us. We could not have picked a better place. The water park was excellent for the kids and they had so much fun!!. The room had a door to the outside from hotel room, so it was so easy to take dogs out. There was one door that went out to hallway and the other door directly to outside. Also, the room was neat and clean. So many hotels are not clean in the room. This was quite good. The only thing I did not like is no breakfast foods. We get up early and restaurant did not open until 9:30am, so it would have been nice to get a little something to eat before we packed up and left. Some juice, bagels and donuts or something. Most hotels do this now. But, If we go to Rapid City again, we will definitely stop there. It was the one of the best stays I have had at a hotel in a long time. Go here if you are vacationing the area such as Mount Rushmore and Badlands.
Within walking distance of restaurants and movie theater. Hotel does provide shuttle to help for longer distances. There was a problem at check out in regards to having a shuttle available to transport me back to the airport in the AM due to no driver available even though we had scheduled a pick up time that the hotel agreed to. This hotel is very large and I got turned around more than once trying to find my hotel room. There was a microwave in the room which is always appreciated. Restaurant in hotel is good and has delicious pizza. Small area by front desk that has light snacks and drinks available for purchase. A bar has a "casino" but that only consists of about 10 slots and they are basically just keno slots. Would stay here again if I had to for work.
My family enjoys the Ramkota Hotel. It is affordable for a family and gives you a water park and pool for less than the cost of others in the area. This was our second stay and we will continue to stay here. It is in a great location!
The hotel itself is OK with a great swimming pool, but is close to the highway and noisy depending on the room you get. Its location is a good starting point to explore the attractions nearb (the badlands, Mount Rushmore national monument, ...).
Although a very spread out hotel, the rooms are always clean and the staff helpful and efficient. We stayed in a double queen room and there was plenty of room to spread out. Although there is some inter state noise, it is a good location so you have easy access to get on the road to visit all the wonderful places the Black Hills has to offer.
My family and my 72 year old mother were traveling to Montana from SC, when my mom had a heart attack and had to have open heart surgery at Rapid City Regional. We were in South Dakota awaiting on her to be transported to a rehab facility. We stayed at the Ramkota Best Western for 15 days and the staff, the manager, and the entire hotel deserve the greatest review. They understood how distressed we were and they never said on word about us extending our stay and gave us a discount through Rapid City Hospital. I was so impressed with the compassion, the professionalism, and the entire hotel in itself. The restaurant which is Minerva's is probably the best food I have ever eaten. The bar staff made us feel like family and Nate even took my husband fly fishing. It is tough times that you find how kind people can be and how just the smallest conveniences can make a terrible ordeal better. My son made the best of his stay at the indoor pool and slide. The housekeeping staff was very gracious on restocking our room when we needed it. What a wonderful staff this hotel has. Rooms are nice and clean and very up to date. Close to restaurants within walking distance and the surrounding areas (Bad Lands, Mt. Rushmore, Wall, etc) are pretty close within driving distance of less than an hour. I recommend this hotel and restaurant to anyone in the area. Thank you Ramkota. So if you are ever stuck in South Dakota or just visiting, make sure you stay here.
We took our grandkids to Rapid City for the weekend. We reserved a room at the Best Western because of the water park. The room was clean but the bathroom was very small. We had a problem finding a power outlet that would work. Our first morning there, we went to the restaurant for breakfast. All the signs in the hotel including a blackboard in the entry claimed the restaurant serves breakfast until 10:30 AM. We arrived at 9:58 and were told we couldn't get breakfast because they shortened it because of the rally. The hostess told us we could "load up a couple of plates from the buffet" if we hurried. We mentioned all the signage claiming they served breakfast until 10:30. All the hostess did was shrug her shoulders and say sorry.
The Best Western Ramkota is a wonderful hotel! The minute you walk in you know you are in the right place. From the welcome of the front desk staff, the professional housekeeping staff, the Bison in tiles on the floor, the wonderful art work throughout the hotel. It has a great restaurant, good prices and excellent waitstaff. Close to the interstate, mall, downtown, and lots of food. Great room! use your BW Reward pts here.
We appreciated the room on the ground floor because we brought our dog and it was close to the dog exercise area, however we heard alot of hallway noise probably because it was at the end near the exit, though it did not keep us up at night. The sliding glass door provided easy access to a grassy area for our pup, however the door was very hard to slide open and close. It was a nice sized room for 2 adults and our large dog. Thank you for being pet friendly allowing us to make it easier to travel with our dog. Didn't eat at the hotel's restaurant. There were several other food establishments nearby, which we chose instead. Price was okay, even with the military discount. We paid less at StayBridge Suites in Iowa even with the pet fee and the room was nearly the same size.
This hotel had comfortable beds, room to move around and an adequate bathroom (it was however difficult to get the shower curtain arranged to prevent water from getting on the floor). My friend and I enjoyed martinis and good meals in the restaurant on several occasions. Parking was abundant. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
Called 4 hours early because plans changed to see if we could check in early, were rudely told rooms are only GUARANTEED after 4:00 p.m., but to stop in and check they were often open early. We stopped, not ready (which is fine because they said it may not be). We were told "a half hour longer" several times and it was never ready each time. No attempt was made to clean that room early, in fact it was well AFTER 4 before it was available. No apologies, no acknowledgement. When we entered the room it wasn't clean. Counters were not whipped off and you could hardly see out the windows. We had one bath towel for two adults and two kids. For paying just under $300 a night for a suite that was disappointing. Workers smoke outside the bar so it all stinks. We went to the front desk to get new keys 9 times over the two nights because they didn't work. Finally after the second time the front desk sent maintenance they replaced the door lock. The hall between the two pools is a hazard because there are no rubber mats so we saw several fall between the two because it was wet tile. When they came to 'clean' our room the second day, they made the bed, replaced our towel with one more towel and didn't vacuum or put trash bags back. We asked the cleaning crew for the vacuum and ended up doing it ourselves. Through it all we remained gracious to the staff and treated them with respect but that was not returned. Instead they were rude and acted as though we were an inconvenience. This may be as a result of the General Manager, whom we contacted regarding our experience. On the back of all of the receipts and more than once during our stay we were reminded to review the hotel and that leaving an '8' was not good enough. We were told if there was anything wrong with our stay to contact the manager Michelle Lamphere, and let her know how to make it right. We did just that emailing her more than once and heard NOTHING. My entire family stayed the same time we did and each had issues during their stay... my brother had a picture fall off the wall while they were in bed and hit him in the head before hitting his wife and breaking. Again no apology. For a family type establishment who charges a lot of money, the service isn't worth $1! We saw two other hotels not far from there with water slides.... I'm sure they would appreciate the business!
Quick road trip along I90, during high season, you don't have a lot of choicesin Rapid City. Finally found space available and a reasonable (for the season) rate at BW Ramkota. Huge hotel complex set up for conferences and family fun. We did end up with a first floor room in the back which was nice for a one night stay. But the room has a sliding glass door. Not the safest feel. We went out to get some dinner and when we returned a tour bus was parked in front of our unit and right next to the disabled parking (which we use). My husband was worried about how the driver was going to get out in the morning and I was concerned about the noise from a group of people loading, but we left before they did, so it worked out. Breakfast is not included here. The onsite restaurant does not serve breakfast although I think you can preorder something? We didnt want to take the time to go to a sit down restaurant so just picked up something at the gas station next door. The hotel was clean and is probably fine. On our return trip we found another place which we preferred. For families, probably a good place.
We had reservations for 7/25/16 - 7/27/16 staying in a suite with jetted tub, fireplace, and small bar area. We were really excited to be going to a place that sounded nice, and had a waterpark all together that was close to the interstate and dining. We arrived at about 1 PM after a 4 hour drive and walked into the lobby. The entrance and lobby looked really nice, the front desk staff not so. There were 2 ladies at the front desk. I asked if early check in was possible today and without looking or anything was told no very rudely. I kindly asked if they would call me when my room was ready and they took my information and we left to walk around and look at the place. We first walked down the hall towards the rooms/water park and were hit with a wall of cigarette smoke. There is a bar area there and boy was it smoky outside in the hall. We walked into the water park and it was really nice and clean. My 2 year old was really excited. We then left and went to Mt Rushmore for the evening and returned about 5PM. Never did anyone call and let me know my room was ready. When we arrived the ladies at Front Desk changed and were kind however nothing over the top. We were given our room keys told where the room was located and went on our way. We were able to park near an exit which is right near housekeeping and carried our things in. (however this door never locked and anyone could walk in or out without keyed access anytime of the day or night) We unloaded our stuff and nearly had my kid ran over by people cutting thru the parking lot. The hotel runs between 2 streets and to avoid a light you can cut thru the parking and man do people race thru here. We went to our room. It was nice however not at all met our expectations. It is 2 standard rooms with a double door between them. The spa tub was very nice, however the bathroom is a standard bathroom and there is only room for 1 person in it at a time. It is EXTREMELY small for a suite. The faucet in the bathroom had the hot and cold on the wrong sides and I was always burning my hands while brushing my teeth forgetting that the cold was on the left instead of the standard on the right. The TV and couch/recliner were really nice. The bar area not so much. The refrigerator was an apartment style that was shoved into a hole into the cabinets which was way too big for that. The fixture on the wall is about 3 inches off level and when sitting in the living room area looking at it its really embarrassing. The fireplace does not work. Now to the water park. It is really a nice water park for small children. It was really clean and the only part of the hotel that was to my satisfaction, however the water was REALLY cold. My 2 year old was shivering while playing and riding down the slides. He actually played about an hour and asked to go get warmed up so we left and he played in the spa tub. Overall I was extremely dissatisfied with this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. It has such potential to be a great resort and the prices could be increased and people would pay for it, however given its current management it is not.
For 170.00 a night I would expect better service. Maid service was painfully slow, usually not getting done till late afternoon. No supervision at water park teen kids running around like nuts. Staff was somewhat rude and non caring.
We chose this hotel because it is close to the Rapid City airport and we had a 6 a.m. flight the next morning. The hotel staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. They provided a free shuttle service to the airport at 4:30 in the morning. They also provided shuttle service back from the car rental place where I needed to return my car in town. The amenities were very nice and the room comfortable. The best part of the stay was the water park. My kids, 13 and 6, loved it. So much fun for all ages! We had a great, relaxing stay after a long road trip that was just perfect before setting off on our early morning trip the next day. The restaurant was also great. The kids menu was good and portions really good. Overall, we had a great experience at the Ramkota and would definitely stay there again if we ever find ourselves in Rapid City.
Lousy service, over-charged for extra bed without telling us, and toilet clogged. No breakfast at all. We were 2 couples and had to share one room which was called a king suite and cost $250. However, it was a small room with an outside door and was the bare minimum. No breakfast and toilet clogged. When we called the desk someone came to our door and tossed in a plunger -- no attempt to fix problem for us.
Two rooms three nights 1200 us dollars not worth it. Travelling with two young children arrive at 3:15 pm. Have driven 700 miles approx. We are hot and tired and are thinking boy it will be nice to check in. Staff at desk rudely say no check inns till 4pm no way can we get in 45 min early. This is a huge hotel different entrances and wings. Two rooms two room keys. Drive to our entrance get to the room. The keys don't work. Sigh. Drive back to front desk 12 other people in line with same problem. Back to the rooms and we look at suite. Its really just two rooms with a wall taken out. Uncovered sewer clean out right by bed and a plug in. That's a code violation here. Was told because its a suite there would be full sized fridge. Nope small bar fridge instead. We put our perishables in the fridge milk cheese and veggies. Never noticed right away but fridge was not working. Had to throw food out. Maintenance guy shows up and says fridge is on a timer oops. He leaves 4 hrs later still not working. Now that bathroom in this suite for 215 dollars a night is something right out of the comics. Two doors and a potty jammed between the wall and sink that you have to be a super model to fit into. On top of all this the firearm goes off the next day. No staff to point you in a direction to exit and no all clear signal. Anyway I could go on and on. I give this place a 2 out of 10.
Easy access - kind staff - quick access to freeway for getting to downtown and to airport. Would likely stay there again. Would especially visit when travelling with young children to take advantage of the indoor water park.
Upon checking in the front desk lady was crabby and rude . Not away to start off . The room we had was ok . No frig or micro wave . The air didn't work kept shutting off after a few minutes . So the room felt humid . It doesnt come with a breakfast . There are two different pool areas . One area is more for younger kids . Kids will enjoy it . Water was more on the cooler side .They do have two tube slides that go outside . Only went on one and it was pretty dark but fun . One very small round warm pool enough for maybe five people sitting . I think it must be for little kids . They do have a nice but small hot tub . And a larger pool . The floor between the two pool areas was very wet and slippy so you have to really be careful . Staff hard a very hard time keeping it dry . Maybe they should invest in a good rug or something .
All staff were very pleasant and attentive. Everything at the hotel was well maintained, clean, and up to date. Our grandkids loved the water park and pool. The water park had staff on duty at all times that were very attentive. The workout room had great equipment and was very clean. We very much enjoyed our stay at this Ramkota. Additionally, we ate breakfast at the attached Minervas where the food was great and the staff very pleasant. We booked the internet Breakfast Special and received two adult complimentary breakfasts.
I dont write reviews much because i am not a whiney little fairy. Just facts. NO continental breakfast!!! They have a restaurant and give worthless discounts on it. No fridge or microwave in the room. For as much as i paid i could have got a room at watiki!! If you are trying to save money and stay here for the waterpark. $230 bucks for one night Just go to watiki!!!
This was our 8th stay at a Best Western on this trip and it was by far our worst experience. Check in went great, four people working behind the desk, all very friendly and helpful. Room was OK but bathroom was very small, plumbing didn't work. Drains were VERY slow and toilet plugged twice. They claim to have free internet available but dial up would have been faster. As stated by others no breakfast and a very expensive restaurant. Check out was bad as there was only one person behind the desk and she was extremely busy, I was unable to report the problems I experienced with this Best Western. At $200.00 a night this was a poor value.
Got a king suite for our family of 6. We have 3 small kids and a teen and chose this hotel for the pool. As expected, the pool was the hit of our Black Hills vacation! Room was very spacious and beds were comfy. Had room to add a rollaway for our teen. Was well worth a few extra bucks to have a room of this size. We will definitely be back!
Have stayed at many BW over the years, some are better that other, this one was the other. Arrived at 2:45 pm to be told not so politely that our room wasn't ready, check-in isn't till 4 pm and to come back in an hour and fifteen and then MAYBE our room will be ready. Came back at 3:50 and was told bluntly that our room still wasn't ready and may be after 4 pm before it is. Just what every traveler wants to hear after being on the road all day. We took a seat in the lobby, at 3:55 another traveler came in to check-in and was told their room wasn't ready and check-in was at 4, they looked at their watch and the desk clerk say may be later. The guest said do I get a discount for you not being on time? as soon as the guest back was turned the desk clerck made a rude face at her. The rooms had no frigs, or microwaves. It does have a nice aquatic area if we had children traveling with us. On our return trip through we will be looking to stay somewhere else in Rapid City.
We were part of a reunion group that stayed at the Ramkota. The rooms were good size, the water park was a great hit with our grandkids. The restaurant and bar were nice and very convenient. Located next to the major highway going into and out of the area. All staff members were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
The hotel was very accommodating. We had to leave another hotel as it was disgusting and we refused to stay there, and they got us booked right in without a problem. Very clean, great, friendly staff, room had everything we could have needed. Will definitely stay here again. And the brunch on Sunday was delicious!
This hotel was a good stay for our family, mainly due to the kid friendly pool area. The water was VERY cold though. It didn't bother our boys at all! The rooms were ok. Large and clean, but nothing special. Friendly staff.
We made reservations almost 8 months ahead. Our rooms were on second floor and no elevator. Had lots of bags, helments and gear to lug upstairs. Some had trouble finding rooms. Only one washer and dryer in only two areas that was pretty far from room. No continental breakfast available and this was the most expensive of all the rooms we stayed in. Resturant pretty expensive. Not sure we will return to this one again
The kids had a fun time in the pool area. We stayed 2 nights, and were given bands for the pool. The next day when I asked for more bands, I was told, I needed to bring the old bands back to the front desk, I guess to prove I had used them. I was not happy about the way I was treated, but I am not going to let one un friendly person change my overall review of this motel expierienc
The room was OK but not easy to get to. It was way overpriced for what you get. No breakfast but they will give you free passes to their waterpark???We were certainly not interested in going to a glorified swimming pool but were interested in eating a reasonable breakfast. Thank goodness for the Burger King across the street to get us down the road. If you want a reasonably priced bed to sleep in during your travels you might look elsewhere.
Upon check in, we were informed we received a free room upgrade to a suite. The suites were in a sort of weird, disconnected part of the hotel attached to the convention center, but it was like four rooms away from the waterpark so we couldn't have asked for a more convenient location. The room was absolutely lovely. Really spacious and really comfortable and clean. We ended up ordering pizza and eating in the room, so the table and chairs was super nice to have. I would've wished for more soundproofing. The hotel allowed dogs who barked at odd hours in the night and neighbors in the same corridor sounded like they were sharing our room the sound was so loud. The hotel had the largest standard pool I'd ever seen in my life. There was poop floating in a smaller pool in the same room as the huge pool that put us off swimming that night, but when we returned in the morning, it has been properly cleaned up. The waterpark was very nice, just too loud for our toddler. No free breakfast, so we made alternate arrangements.
I've stayed at hotels, motels, and many Best Westerns across the country. In terms of value for price, this is far and away the worst. I was greeted with a price roughly double that of the last Best Western I stayed at, along with the knowledge there would be no complimentary breakfast in the morning. Going to the room, which was nearly impossible to find because the hotel is designed so badly, I found a used wad of toilet paper in the toilet and used wet-naps in the trash can. Which made me wonder if they had bothered to clean my room at all since the last guest was here. The entire room smelled stale, the sheets reeked of mildew. Don't expect any amenities - there is no mini fridge in the room, and no microwave either. Probably to force guests to dine at the restaurant inside the hotel. I can understand not having a microwave for this reason, but it's a good thing we didn't have any medication that needed to be refrigerated - not having a mini-fridge is a bad oversight. The toilet won't flush unless you hold down the lever for 30 seconds (which might explain the presence of the wad of paper) and the internet is so slow it took about 10 minutes for this Trip Advisor page to load. On the plus side, there were no cockroaches in the room. Only moths, I assume they were after the stale linens. Normally I love and prefer Best Westerns, but the only problem with individually-owned franchises is sometime you get one that's really really bad. The Best Western Ramkota is one such, so please don't stay here. You'll get a much better value and a better experience staying at a Super 8 or something.
This was a very nice hotel but the cost is astronomical and the amenities do not match the cost. I have stayed in much better hotels with a bell boy to take care of my luggage. I had to take care of my luggage, along with finding the cart to do so. Breakfast was not included either.
hotel did not fullfill what was promised by best western gold card status. weekday stay and only given 15% discount. Very disappointed with not recieving the advertised rate by Best Western rewards points. West of Missippi river found most hotels ignored the benifits of gold status.
We only stayed one night as we traveled through and hit a couple of scenic options. The location was convenient with many restaurants, gas station and Rushmore close by. The staff were very friendly and efficient and our room offered nice décor and some of the comforts of home. Refrig and wifi. Being a family of 4 the sink outside restroom was nice to keep everyone moving through shower routine. Wish the hottub was larger, the pool a tid bit warmer. Pool deck a bit slick too. Overall a great stay for us. If we were that direction we would stay there again. Cool entryway too.
We got there not knowing what to expect. Two older adults but with a family group of kids and grand kids. The pools were great and kept them all busy till closing, 10PM. Pools (2) were clean and well kept. Plenty of towels were always available. The lay out of the hotel takes a little getting used to. Large foot print. Many hallways. Parking was great, right by a door to our wing. Over all great place. Ate at Minervas in the hotel several times during our stay. Salad bar and hot soup always great. Highly recommended. Terri P. took care of us once and was a fountain of information on local stuff to do. And did laundry there which is great when going to be on the road for another week!!!
This hotel is a very nice place to stay. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean and decorated very nicely. The western and Indian decor throughout is wonderful. The restaurant in the hotel is very delicious! The staff very friendly and attentive. We arrived just before closing time and you would never know with the service, wasn't hurried it irritated. Great food and great service. We stayed here a year ago when passing through and certainly went back to the same location because of the great stay we had before! Very much recommended!!
We stayed in a spacious room but missed the availibility of a fridge;Breakfast for our travel party was served in a special room but offered limited variety ( no cereals, no yoghurt, no croissants...)During dinner however there was ample choice on the menu list.
Basic issue is dishonest response to problems. Any problem is your problem. Did not have hot water for shower after long day out in the heat. Promised another room, which was then not provided. Promised 25% room discount instead, which was not provided. The buck passing staff simply ignores problems and says whatever it takes to make you go away in the moment, knowing there will be no accountability. It being hot outside, it seems they believe it is unreasonable to expect the air conditioning to cool the room, and management simply must be aware that many rooms have old tired AC units that cannot cope with the heat. Indeed, management must be aware that corridors of the motel differ widely in quality as age or lack of renovation impact things substantially. Lack of hot water, totally inadequate air conditioning, malfunctioning toilets, and just tolerable beds are part of their deal, and if that is not satisfactory, then it is you that is unreasonable. Could go on, but steer clear sums it. Management then responds after the stay with the boilerplate, "sorry you were not pleased, come again to allow us to show we will do better." Would not go there again under any circumstances.
Let me say the best stuff first. Great water park/pool area. I had fun on it, the kids had fun. Housekeeping staff almost always greeted you with a smile and a hello. The dinners were pretty good. I was there for business meetings. My company encourages us to bring our families to this one annual event. Our main meeting for the first day was to start at 4 PM. We live about 6.5 hours from the city. We showed up about 2 PM, I asked to check in. I was told our rooms were not ready. My family and I went and killed some time in Rapid City. We showed up just shy of 3:30 PM to check in. I was informed our rooms were not ready and would not be until 4. I let the front desk staff know, our meetings start at 4 pm. She simply said "sorry." I put in my reservations close to 5 weeks ago. There are 6 members to our family. They do not have a suite big enough to accommodate us, which was fine. Since we needed two rooms to sleep everyone and not be in violation of law/fire code I asked for two adjoining rooms. I was provided rooms across the hall from each other. When I asked about the adjoining rooms, I was told I should have used the verbiage of connecting rooms. Which they did not have available during our stay. So since we have little kids the thought of having the kids totally on their own in their own room was out of the question. After traveling so far, with kids, for a business trip (the hotel knew the rooms were for theses business meetings) it would have been nice to get into a room to freshen up and change out of traveling clothes. I sent a message to the manager about my problems, and she offered to let me change rooms though she admitted there was no connecting/adjoining rooms available during our stay, which I let her know there is no point in changing rooms then. I asked for a discount on the second room, I was not given one. The CusineArt coffee maker in our room never, brewed a cup of coffee the entire time I was there. The room my wife and daughters stayed in, had a hole in the wall. The hotel has no elevators. Thursday evening when we finally were allowed to go to our rooms, we saw at the top of the stairwell a dirty plate and butter knife. It stayed there until Saturday morning, then some time after 7 AM it was moved to the bottom of the stairs. It was then sometime between 10 AM - 12 PM, that it was removed from the stairwell. Again, there are no elevators, and I saw hotel staff (mostly housekeeping) using that stairwell. Breakfast, the sausages were over-cooked every morning of our stay. They have a hotel book and on the back of your bill both places say a rating of an 8 is average, if our stay is anything less then an 8 let them know. Again, I tell you, I let the manager know about the check in / rooms not connecting hassle and asked for a discount on the second room and was not even given as much as a penny discount. If my company ever books meetings there again, I will look for a different hotel to stay at.
The Ramkota Inn in South Dakota was probably the worst stay I ever had at a Best Western Hotel. So many things not working in the room. There was only one way to egress because the sliding door in the room could not open. You would have to break the glass to get out in case of an emergency. The toilet ran constantly, some of the outlets were so loose the plug on your device would not stay in. The internet was so slow that I could hardly stay on line. There is no complimentary breakfast of any kind, only an over priced second rate restaurant with so so food. I would never recommend this place to anyone I know because I wouldn't want to lose any friends. If I ever come back to South Dakota I will surely steer clear of the RAMKOTA INN.
Disappointed no elevators and requested a first floor room 3 days prior to our stay , was not in the mood to complain so ruffed it out and checked out the next day . No breakfast offered either for the money spent it was mediocre
This Best Western was clean, comfortable and had a wonderful pool and water slide. However, compared to other properties in the area it did not offer as many amenities for the price paid. Most lacking was any form of Continental Breakfast for Hotel guests and an extra charge for an in-room refrigerator, both mainstays at most Best Western Hotels and at all La Quinta properties. The location was very good, and made travel to restaurants, and area attractions easy. The beds were comfortable and clean, but be sure to bring your own pillows if you don't like soft "feathered" pillows. The lack of a firm pillow for those used to them, can interrupt a good night's sleep! Great hotel, large, and roomy but check around for amenities at other locations before booking- you might find a better value for the same price.
Stayed here for a week, had a great room, one of the "remodeled" ones come to find out, and I'm glad: room was spacious, had a microwave and fridge, bathroom clean, beds comfortable and crisp clean linens..Staff very friendly and nice. I thought this hotel was on the outskirts when you look at website pic, but you are smack in the city..and I was fine with that..I couldn't hear any noise from my room, as in cars, etc. Hotel is close to highway 90 which is convenient.. and the tourist areas are driving distance..you could do short trips, day trips, or overnight....from Rushmore to Devil's tower, so many places to choose from.. If you can, drive through Spearfish Canyon, very cool.
This hotel ended up greatly exceeding my expectations. The rooms were completely updated, the beds were very comfortable, and the water park was perfect for our 2 and a half year old son to come back to after a long day of site seeing. He absolutely loved the pirate ship. We also loved how convenient it was to get to down town Rapid City, which we ended up going to every night for dinner. All in all we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to families with younger children.
coffee substandard,,no complmentary breakfast,,no microwave or fridge in room should of at least had one or the other..1st bestwestern that did not have one or the other,,killed bugs in room,,old dirty underware under chair,,coffee pot leaked made only alittle over half a cup--if ihad not been so tired I would of gone to the RAMADA,,BBUUTT the bed WAS VERY GOOD,,,
Stayed to attend an international event. The staff were friendly and helpful. The in house restaurant was great. of the 6 nights at the hotel we had a bottle of cleaner left in the bathroom, another day a cleaning rag was left on the bathroom floor, next there was a shortage of face cloths and one morning no hot water. the air conditioner struggled to keep the room cool.
Good hotel, clean comfortable, affordable nice pool and accomadations. jsfljsklfja;sldjf;alsjkdf;laksjdfjklasfd; ajsdflajsklfdj;alsjfdlaksjdflakjsd;fklajdsf alsjfdlaksjfdl;kajdsklfajs;fdlkja;sldkfj;alskdjf;alojusio;whye;fioahs;fkla
We stayed at this hotel because other hotels were booked up and we have stayed at Best Westerns many times before. It was a lovely hotel but a little over priced in my opinion. The suite was very nice and our granddaughter loved the water park. It is not the fault of Best Western that the area seems to be way too touristy and takes advantage of it.
Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a package holiday. This is a very noisy hotel where you can clearly hear the people constantly walking past in the corridor. We also had people stomping around in the room above. The room was nice enough with comfortable beds, a fridge and a microwave but no safe. However the free Wi-Fi didn't always work and the shower leaked water onto the bathroom floor. Breakfast isn't complimentary so we dined elsewhere. I'm sure there are plenty of better places to stay in Rapid City.
Facility was great, staff were outstanding. Basically everything about the facility was great except there was no elevator from the ground level to the 2nd level of guest sleeping rooms. This made for extra work getting luggage to the room.
Attended a conference last week and it was great. The rooms were super clean, staff pleasant and a variety of amenities to please. It is a bit spread out with conference rooms spread across the complex. Conference food was good. I would definitely go back.
This was a fantastic place for the conference, enough rooms and meeting facilities. The food was top notch and the staff was very professional. Location next to the interstate makes it easy to find and close to shopping area.s,
Rates are extremely high considering, no breakfast, pool slides closed more than open, room services didn't clean hallways or staircases as a food tray stayed in staircase the entire 2 days we were there. Our reservation email said if you found the rate lower you would be refunded plus $100 we were charged $169.99 we found it on Best Westerns site for $149.99 when I called the number the lady constantly argued with me that they cant change my rate to $149 after I have checked in, then when I asked for her to transfer me she hung up on me. We stayed in a Best Western in Kansas City and it was AMAZING. Told each other we would only stay at Best Westerns from now on. This Best Western left me never wanting to stay at one again
We had a great experience at the best Western in rapid city!! The staff were all super nice, the rooms were clean and spacious enough, and to top it off the water park and pool were amazing!! It was pretty crowded but there was still plenty of space (and they kept towels stocked!). My kids had a blast and didn't want to leave! We enjoyed our stay so much we've already booked our next night at a best western in Kansas city (traveling south)...
I checked in with the young woman whose name tag displayed the title of Director of First Impressions. She never made eye contact and never smiled. I felt like she wanted to be anywhere but where she was. Very complacent and strikingly uninterested in the standard check-in details she must go over with every guest every single day. Overall, not a very good first impression. The room was adequate for our needs, but there is no elevator so make sure you request a first floor room if you have trouble with stairs or have a lot of stuff to bring up with you. The room door was tough to open and even more difficult to close. The bar on the door to exit the building broke when we left making me question if we'd even be able to get back inside. Don't expect any premium channels or even a guide channel. Get ready to channel surf like the good ol' days to find something to watch (there is a channel listing available, but I googled to get a guide for various channels so I could find out what was available to watch). Free coffee and water, but no food. Speaking of food, there is room service available. Our first morning there, an empty-ish tray was at the bottom of the stairs. It was there 2 more days with people adding to it before it was gone the morning we checked out. I absolutely hated the pillows and woke up several times every night having to readjust to get comfortable. A swan made from a pool towel greeted us with a personal note from a housekeeper upon our arrival. The second day the blankets and stuffed animals my kids left in the room were nicely displayed on their bed. However, there was "something" left in the tub and streaks on the mirror so I'm not so sure on how well our room was cleaned and also scared me a little thinking if it were cleaned well enough before we got there. Our last night there, my daughter fell and hurt her arm. I have some hotel experience and told my husband we should go report it to the front desk in case there is a need for further medical treatment and also to get an ice pack. I got to the desk and could hear people having a conversation in the back office. There wasn't a bell or anything to ring for service so I had to wait until the funny story was finished before anyone came out. I told the front desk attendant that my daughter had an accident upstairs and requested an ice pack. She didn't say two words, went in the back, got me an ice pack with a towel, clearing it with her coworker, handed it to me and as I started to walk away, asked for my room number. She did not take any further information from me about what happened, my name or my daughter's name or ask if we needed anything else. Even if it's not hotel/corporate policy to fill out an accident report, a decent human reaction might be to ask if she was ok. Nope. Not even that. I checked my bill the next morning to see if I had been charged for the ice pack (still not sure I won't be) because of the lack of empathy, sympathy, and professionalism here. On to the waterpark. Great place for young kids. The only highlight of our stay in my opinion. There is a separate pool (deeper) and hot tub if ankle deep water isn't your thing. We never went in there because my kids are 5 and under so the kiddie pool was the place to be. It was a busy weekend so I expected a lot of people, but it wasn't horribly overcrowded. I was told upon check in that the pool wristbands we got were for our entire stay and if we take them off, we had to bring it back in order to get a new one. Wow. Ok, so back to that first impression, now I feel threatened that the pool police are going to take my kids out kicking and screaming because they lost a wristband or took it off. Still, they did have a good time and with no lifeguard on duty, the "police presence" isn't quite as worrisome as you might think. Overall, the location of the hotel is great. Close to shopping, food, and easy interstate access if you're passing through. My kids were happy with the pool. I'm not impressed with the customer service or the accommodations so I will explore other options next time we are in the area.
Updated hotel with clean, quiet rooms, near shopping, restaurants, and next to I-90. Restaurant on premises. Minutes away from Mt. Rushmore, Badlands, Custer Park, Crazy Horse, Bear Country USA. Would recommend
It was rather disconcerting to be barked NAME!? by the duty clerk at check-in. Not a great welcome and we were off on the wrong foot. However, we were treated well by the same lady when we had an issue with the ground floor room. No issue to move us to an upper floor room from the room to which we were originally allocated. The rooms are very clean and the beds are very comfortable. There aren't safes in the room but this was the only downside. There's reasonable gym and the pool is great. The staff in the restaurant for both breakfast and are very good and both breakfast and dinner are very good. There is a good choice of wine by both the glass and bottle and there's 50% discount on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on all bottles of wine. Recommended.
Stayed there on our trip west and couldn't be happier. Good people who helped explain the areas sights. A family run facility and almost all the employees are family members. Don't think twice about spending time with the good folks here.
If you just a room with no care from the staff this is the place for you! But if you experience any issues, don't count on anything happening about it or staff caring. Security just barges into your room thinking they can enter the adjoining room through yours, smart! The management doesn't listen, care, or even try to come off that they want anything other than your money and you to leave them alone! Do yourself a favor and just pay the extra $20 and go to IHG or Choice hotels!
Very disappointed to learn the hotel was under construction and no breakfast was offered, even though it was advertised as having a "free continental breakfast." Therefore, It would have been nice to know this before arrival so we could have budgeted for the extra meals. It was right next to the freeway and you could hear the freeway traffic. There wasn't enough parking so we had to park our vehicle in an area not close to our room. We tried to make the best of it since we weren't in our room very much. The lobby had piles of stone that needed to be attached. The outside had piles of stone also that needed to be affixed to the front of the hotel. At least there were a number of restaurants within close proximity to pick from. Had we known these things prior to making our reservations we would have looked for a different hotel. Best Western hotel is usually a very good hotel, but our trip to South Dakota was disheartening. We also stayed at BW in Sturgis and were also disappointed. We finally got breakfast, but there wasn't much to pick from. And there were slamming doors all night long. This one was also close to the freeway which was very noisy. Don't get me wrong, we loved everything we did in South Dakota. Just not too happy with Best Western this trip.
An excellent choice for Rapid City, and could not be more convenient. Under renovation, but will be beautiful once complete. You also get a discount at Mobil nearby. No continental breakfast provided, but the restaurant is reasonable (and beautiful).
We needed a pet friendly place in rapid city. All the hotels in the area were booked due to conventiins, but this BW managed to squeeze us in. The place is currently undergoing a renovation, but that didn't effect my opinion. The staff were friendly and courteous. The room was clean and well maintained. The restaurant was pretty good. I definitely would stay here again.
We chose this hotel specifically because it has an indoor water park (free for guests) and we travel with 3-year-old twins. That said, the water park was pretty fantastic for the kids... we traveled in mid-May and, even on the weekend, the water park wasn't overly crowded. The twins loved the pirate-themed park, the small slides, etc. There were two large slides for older children, and a large pool/hot tub across the tiled hallway. You leave the water park to go to the pool. They're in different rooms. The water play hours were generous (8am - 10pm). Wrist bands were required to use the water park/pool facilities, but they could be exchanged at the front desk for new ones if you lost one or removed one. The hotel was under construction (the lobby was completely torn apart), so it isn't fair to judge the lackluster appearance at this time. We checked in at 4pm (which is the check-in time), so there was quite a wait to check in. Long lines. Lots of impatient, screaming children. There were only two people checking in guests. The woman who checked us in was busy and she didn't take a lot of time with us to make sure we knew where we were going. She gave us a map, highlighted it, said have a nice night and then was on to the next guest. She wasn't downright rude but she could have been friendlier. I appreciate the fact that she was busy but we were confused when we left the lobby. We followed the map and found our hotel room. Parking is a pain... we parked in front of our room (1509), but had to walk all the way around the building to find our way inside. Would have appreciated the heads up so my husband or I could have found the room and opened the sliding glass door to the parking lot for ease of transporting luggage... we hauled it all the way around. The woman who checked us in could have let us know. The room itself was fine. It was big enough, the beds were comfortable. We were disappointed that there was no microwave or refrigerator. The bathroom was standard. Not a lot of frills, but clean and serviceable. We were also disappointed in the lack of a continental breakfast. I guess we are so used to getting a free continental breakfast (at literally every other hotel we've stayed at in the last 3-4 years) that we expected it. It certainly wasn't advertised! But we were surprised and a little irritated it didn't have one. I ran to Wal-Mart (3 minutes away) and bought some muffins for the morning. The air-conditioning unit was difficult; we never figured it out. Luckily, it was cool outside and we ran the fan until we were comfortable. Room was really hot when we first got into it. Finding the water park from room 1509 was pretty awful. It is a LONG, LONG walk. Especially for little kids. The tile floor in between the water park and the pool was wet and slippery and, despite there being a WET FLOOR sign, it seemed dangerous. The walk there was confusing and long, but the walk back was much worse: the hallways are air-conditioned to the point of FREEZING when wet! The kids were blue-lipped and shivering by the time we navigated the long hallways back to our room. We threw them into the bath to warm them up. That would be my biggest complaint. The hotel was rather noisy (of course it was! it has an indoor water park!) which didn't bother us any. Our kids were just as loud as any of the other kids, but my husband and I would probably not choose to stay here if we weren't traveling with the kiddos. It quieted down about 11pm, an hour or so after the water park/pool closed, but it was pretty loud up until then. All in all, I would stay here again. My kids are begging to go back to the water park and they said it was their favorite hotel ever (and they've stayed in plenty). My husband and I weren't all that impressed, but if the kids are happy, we are happy. I would definitely ask for a room closer to the water park/pool if we were to book again... even if we had to pay a little bit more. It was TRULY a LONG walk down several ICE-COLD hallways.
The Ramkota seems to be basically a good hotel as long as it is not under renovation. During our stay we were not able to use the Fitness Center. However, we enjoyed the really spacious indoor pool they have. And because there is a direct connection to a water park we can imagine that it is good for families with young kids. we stayed in the building G and unfortunately the internet was very weak and broke down several times. staff told us they can don nothing in this repsect due to technical (?) reasons. Recommendable is the restaurant which is part (?) of the hotel. They have good wines and the food at dinner was also good.
We stayed three nights at this rather large hotel recently. Pretty much everything was very good, from our renovated rooms to the pool to the restaurant (with a pretty fine salad bar) to the friendly front desk folks. Our room had a handy Fridge and microwave and the lighting was better than at most hotels. The only things to work on: there was no sign indicating that towels could be hung up and reused, like you see at hotels worldwide. Also, the discount on gas at the adjacent gas station is only 2 cents/gallon, which the front desk clerk didn't know the details about. Third, it would be handy if the lobby PC didn't require a password and had desktop icons for airlines to quickly print boarding passes like I've seen elsewhere. We enjoyed our stay and may very well be back!
We stayed at the Ramkota for our daughter's 12th birthday with four other friends and it was very enjoyable. Nice large rooms and the pool and water park were and excellent additional feature. The location was perfect being within walking distance of the mall and the theater.
The water park the hotel advertises is great for younger kids! If you are staying at the hotel you get free admission. Our three year old loved it. They had some larger slides, but the majority of it was for younger kiddos! The regular pool is also awesome. Probably one of the largest hotel pools I have seen! The room was nice and they were quick to respond to our request for a fridge and microwave in the room! The property is very spread out and many of the rooms have exterior access as well as interior. There is a restaurant on site, and you can get room service. But the hotel itself does not offer a continental breakfast.
Hotel is an excellent place to stay. It's location was great. Very close to other hotels and places to eat. Mall areas were very close for shopping. Excellent place to hold a conference in the Black Hills. Rapid City has many attractions for families especially the National Monument of Mt Rushmore
I meant to ask why there was no breakfast. Every Best Western we have stayed in (about 35-40 different ones) there has been at least a continental breakfast. But that problem is really not a big problem...we can do without breakfast. Our first room had a bad odor which was rectified by changing rooms.
The Best Western Ramkota in Rapid City, SD is an excellent hotel option! It not only has a fantastic location just off I-90, and within 30 minutes of most of the best sites in the Black Hills, but it also has a FANTASTIC water park for the kids, and a WONDERFUL restaurant (Minerva's) with a full menu and wine list that will satisfy everyone's appetite!
We were surprised how big this hotel was. We were told they book up well in advance and have had people stay from various countries. They have a conference center, a small lounge area that is a mini casino, a pool area with tubes and slides, a great restaurant attached to it. The room was comfortable and the staff very friendly. They were in the process of remodeling the lobby and from the looks of it, it will be really lovely when they finish.
Excellent setup of room, although the handicap accessible room couldn't be further away from the parking lot and still be in the same building. While it was right next to an entrance, from the parking lot to that entrance was down six steps! Also the dog walking area had two dispensers for poop-bags but one was empty and there was no trash can nearby. This is why I give it 98 out of a possible 100.
I came out here to work at a conference and it was being held at this hotel so I was booked to stay here which made it so convenient. Everything has been wonderful here! The staff is cheerful, helpful, and friendly. As soon as I came into the lobby to find a cart for my incredible amount of equipment and supplies I need for the program, "Chuck" immediately came out to help me. I was able to check in early into my room with the kind receptionist, "Nicole", The staff who help with set up / break down the conference room were so helpful, I ate a late lunch then again breakfast and the food delicious, reasonable, and service was terrific! My room was spacious and comfortable and again the staff to clean rooms were so nice as I passed them in the hallways - always a friendly smile and hello! I went swimming in the pool in the morning and enjoyed a clean, large, indoor ( & empty) opportunity to do laps! When I called the front desk to inquire about reserving a space on the FREE airport shuttle and again for the password for the FREE internet - Pam greeted me with correct information and when I pestered her about being sure my Best Western points being added to my reservation - she was again very sweet on the phone! I hope I am invited out there again because I would stay at this hotel for sure!
We stayed at Best Western Ramkota when visiting Mount Rushmore. Great location for travel. The indoor water park and pool were awesome. Only wished the rooms were a little nicer- a little run down looking inside. Peeling wallpaper and ceiling paint in the bathroom. Wished also there was a continental breakfast provided. The hotel staff were great. We lost a cell phone in the room and didn't realize it until we were 500 miles away! Hotel staff found our phone and mailed it home to our house. Really above and beyond wonderful and helpful. Thanks a lot!!
Great hotel, clean rooms, free water park for guest. Polite staff. Stayed their before we went to see Mt. Rushmore. Only down fall in no free continental breakfast but there is a Dennys across the street. Parking was tricky but would stay again. T
We had a great stay at the Ramkota in Rapid City SD . The general manager Michelle was a pleasure to work with. Michelle made sure that we had a perfect weekend. The newly remodeled room was outstanding, the fitness room, the pool and overall service was outstanding. We were treated with the up most respect by the staff.Thank You
We have stay 2 separate times at this hotel for 7 and 5 nights. Its a great value. The rooms are large and we love the sliding glass doors that go out onto grassy areas for our little dogs. The hotel is nicely decorated, clean and the staff is friendly. The pool, hot tub and water park are fantastic.
This business provided several options that were very helpful as a family including the "water park," restaurant/bar, close to eating opportunities, etc. The layout of the hotel was also helpful to get to where each group wanted to go closely. There are also very appealing options for dining opportunities that included all budget options.
I visited Rapid City, South Dakota and stayed at the Ramkota. Great place to stay, close to Wal Mart, McDonald's and Mount Rushmore, Sturgis and easy access to streets and roads in Rapid City. I was treated like family
The kids went nuts when they found out our hotel had an indoor waterpark! The pirate theme is cute and there is something for all ages. It was nice and empty when we went, so I can't comment on crowds. It was very clean, well cared for, and safe. Our room was spacious, quiet and clean, with easy access to parking. Great stay, we will be back when we next visit Mount Rushmore!
Overall great experience. The lounge, restaurant is excellent, good food, great service. Rooms cleaned and prepared in a timely manner. Employees were always doing something - the smokers need to get further away from entry doors do the smoke doesn't enter the hotel.
We stayed here because we were attending a cattle association annual meeting and banquet being held here. The banquet food was good, as was the service by hotel staff during our stay. There is a LOT of walking as it is a very large, spread out facility. The water park looked like fun for those with children. The room did not have a frig, microwave, or lamp with plug ins on the nightstand to recharge phones. These items seem to be standard in the hotel business so was surprised not to see them. The room did seem to need some care - paint was peeling from the ceiling in the corner, and there were 2 upholstered cloth seats at a table in the corner - one of them had the fabric totally worn through in the middle with a large portion of the stuffing showing through. There was a shuttle service to the stock show which was a nice benefit.
Stayed during a snowy night and was so glad to have a warm comfortable room to curl up in. Heated giant indoor pool and hot tub were fantastic despite water park being closed. Had dinner at the Minervas restaurant which is attached, so I didn't have to go out into the cold. Dinner and drinks in the bar area were fantastic, as was the breakfast the next day. Great fitness center, close to shopping, right off the interstate. Nice friendly staff, beautiful lobby. And great rates compared to other hotels. Signed up for the Best Western Rewards program to start getting points.
We were excited to stay at the Ramkota. We planned a birthday weekend for our 10 year daughter. Were disappointed because the watermark was closed the entire stay due to a fire issue. But the main problem we had was our neighbors noise level kept us up all night. They were rude but it also felt like the walls were paper thin. Traveling with 4 children is hard enough. No one getting any sleep because of loud neighbors is miserable.
This was a very nice, clean and friendly place to stay. Also very convenient for shopping and movies etc, would definitely stay here again. This is a great place for conventions. lots of rooms for meetings.
My family stayed there for an event in November. We have three kids and 2 queen bed rooms are often tight for us. And usually to include a roll away eats up any floor room available. But at the Ramkota there was room to spare with the inclusion of the roll away. Now if they could only do something about my kids talking in their sleep and snoring, I could get some sleep ;)
Stayed here on the way from Omaha to Portland December 2015. It was easy to find, clean and with those great beds the updated BW's feature. The building and rooms were the old-style, motel door opens to the outside, but well updated with flat screen TV. It's a very basic room, but comfortable and at a great price. I really like BW's for road trips. They welcome pets and this location didn't charge extra. They have Tesla charging stations here, which I thought was both cool and odd. My room had spotty wireless connectivity, it was a corner room and only my iPad could connect not my phone. No matter, I was asleep in minutes. I used the recommendation of other travelers and requested a room on the same side of the street as the lobby. The hotel is split across a major road with a skyway walk system from one side to the other. Also, no elevators so if you don't want to haul your luggage up the stairs, OUTSIDE, request first floor.
Great location that is close to all the activities and right off the main freeway funning north or south. Room was heated when we arrived which was very welcomed. Nice arriving package of water and munchies The staff was very nice to allow for a later check out and I want to thank them for that.
We have stayed exclusively at Best Western hotels this trip because of reliability in quality. This is a nice looking hotel inside and out, warm and comfortable. We missed the nighttime cookies however ;)
Great place to stay. The ladies at the front desk are so friendly and helpful. The maid supervisor was also very friendly. The hotel is clean and no one made you feel like you were bothering them with our needs or questions.
First I will admit traveling during a holiday is not the smartest time. Check in was at 4pm... And there was a line for sure and only 2 check in clerks. By the time I made it to the desk it was 4:45 pm and I was told my kind of room was not ready and to come back at 5:00, at 5pm I was told to return at 5:30, then 6 pm. It was 6:30 by the time I got into my room not a happy feeling and feeling very slighted as to the comments of "your kind of room" I complained to a manager and was told I had booked thru another agency. I believed because I had prepaid we were good, but we were not. Anyhow long story short he did apologize and did comp me a room for another date.
Rooms are large and very clean. Nice pool and fitness center. No free weights though. The water slide was closed during my stay. No complimentary breakfast only coffee and water. Hotel restaurant was very good. The steak was prepared perfectly. Hotel is within walking distance of a small indoor mall with a food court.
Apparently there has been some fire damage at the pool and its closed. They don't make this at all noticable on the website. Better hotels in Rapid for that price, and ones that have a breakfast in the morning!
we always go with Best Western. We feel like we get very good service, pleasant surroundings, clean rooms. They even love our dog, Scout. He is a Red Heeler, very well behaved, people friendly, and uniquely beautiful, too.
Not the nicest place by any stretch. The rooms were roomy but the whole location was older and on need of a major update. The beds were too firm. No continental breakfast, just a bit boring and bland.
This hotel made our family's Thanksgiving get away very enjoyable. They even serve a delicious Thanksgiving buffet. Clean, comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Wonderful restaurant on sight. Couldn't ask for more.
We stayed here for a conference and the price was decent. Some minor issues but nothing that would prevent us from staying again. If you have your own pillows, you might want to bring them as the hotels are way to soft and small. Bed was firm but I like that.
Great Hotel conveniently located and service is excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful Minerva's is a great place to eat Local decor accented throughout the hotel lobby Conveniet location and convention center attached to hotel.
Very large hotel just off the freeway. Hotel has an indoor pool with slides etc for kids. We did not use this facility but it looked fun for children. Our room was a large one bedroom with a sitting area complete with fridge, sink and microwave. Nice to have the extra space. Bed was comfortable. The only odd thing is the bathroom, doors very narrow (2 doors) and the toilet situated very close to the door very awkward to get in and out. Hotel is adjacent to the Rushmore Mall (which has a Starbucks) and several restaurants are with walking distance.
We travelled to Rapid City for a Halloween Dance which was being held at the Hotel. Very excellent service, staff and rooms. We would definitely recommend staying at this location. We did not have to entire property, because the suite we stayed in had all the amenities, fridge, large kitchen area and micro-wave. We really appreciate getting away and this is a perfect get away for couples wanting to relax and enjoy the pool, hot tub, sauna, and casino lounge. We hope this hotel hosts more LBGT events, we had a very pleasant experience
Decent hotel, no breakfast. A lot available in the area. Rooms were nice and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Did not use restuarant on site. Rates were good for the Rapid City area. Will keep this hotel as an option, but not having a cont. breakfast is the only downfall.
Rooms are clean showers are warm and the beds are not like home but over all it was a safe place to stay and the beer is cold. The location is handy as it is directly off of Interstate 90, several reputable restaurants within this establishments vicinity. Local access to down town and the feel of the hills when you step outside to smell the fresh air.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location wad perfect, the decorative entrance was lovely. Our check in was great, the people very friendly. We used the internet and enjoyed the restaurant that was attached. The food was excellent. We highly recommend this hotel.
Huge hotel with 2 convention centers, pool and mini-water park. Well appointed and great room rates. The staff is very accomodating. Coming back in June! This is a very nice place nestled in Rapid City, but quiet enough inside. You'll get a good night sleep here!
Hotel didn't live up to our expectations or it's own advertisements. This was our destination for vacation and found the room to be lacking the conveniences we enjoyed on our trip to Rapid City. Hotel advertised in print and on their flashing neon sign a water park included with stay, but the water park was out of service and discounts were not offered. Rooms were not as comfortable as others we stayed in. Registration staff were friendly and we found one housekeeping staff member who was friendly. Maintenance and ground crew not friendly at all.
For a Best Western, we expected just a bit more from this hotel. We stayed in a suite and the cleanliness was not up to par. I found dog food in the kitchenette area and the floors looked like they hadn't been vacuumed. They had a full-size coffee maker, but only coffee "pods" (for single serve) in the drawer. I also don't think it would be too much to ask to have regular glasses and coffee cups instead of paper cups. Also was a little disappointed there was no HBO or other movie channels. Everything had a price tag. The bathroom area was nice and it was clean.
There are much less expensive hotels in Rapid City that offer a lot more. The time we stayed the water slides were broken due to a fire. Ok, not the hotels fault. The beds were so uncomfortable I woke up at least a dozen times each night with a stiff neck or back. No continental breakfast, almost every other hotel of this class in town offers a free breakfast. The staff claims that because they have the restaurant in the hotel they don't offer a breakfast. The restaurant was ridiculously overpriced for the food offered, luckily there's a Denny's just up the street.
Chose this hotel to be closer for a football game in the area. Found out when I checked in that the water park was closed due to fire in the part of the hotel the previous week. Was not told this information upon making reservation. Would have stayed in a cheaper room elsewhere had I known. The beds were comfortable. My husband found hair in the bathtub, which grossed him out (but that's easy to do!).
This hotel provided an average stay. The hotel was generally clean with the rooms being very acceptable. The biggest problem I had was the internet was extremely slow by today's standards. When it was mentioned at the front desk, there seemed to be an "I don't care attitude"!!
Room was a good size and comfortable enough. Hotel was dated and the wings are a bit remote from the main public areas of the hotel making for long walks, along forbidding corridors. Located reasonably close to the interstate but not bothered by it.
hotel was nice to stay in. just need to accomindate people with more than 2 small dogs. yorkies. other family member had to keep two in their room so we would be legal as they say to stay in the room. Our little dogs are are family and do not like to be away from mom and dad when in a motel room. would stay there again if accomidate 4 yorkies instead of 2. they need to judge on size of dogs and adjust the amount acordanly.
Great hotel and restaurant for a great price! Service is very good. The building is slightly confusing for conferences, however, as many of us kept getting disoriented trying to find conference rooms in separate sections of the building.
Bugs were crawling all over our room in the curtains, on the walls, all over the carpet etc. The pool and hot-tub area was filthy. Toe nails and hair around the hot-tub. The pool restrooms had urine on the floors and the toilets were cloged full of toilet paper.
See earlier comments the worst Best Western I have stayed at. I travel weekly doing at least 2 hotels a week. I was disappointed with this being a Best Western. Then for $125 nights I have to pay for breakfast, ridiculous.
This is a little thing but I love the selection of pillows - soft to very firm. I like soft and usually bring my own pillow because the hotel pillows are too "hard." But because of the selections on my bed I found the perfect pillow! The staff was very friendly and the lunch buffet and Sunday buffet was absolutely fabulous, at a very reasonable price!
On the day that I was to check out I left and went to breakfast leaving my phone to charge by the door, when I returned my phone was gone and the charger was still plugged in by the door and the door was propped open. After looking for my phone one of the housekeeping must have heard me and came in and grabbed my phone out of a drawer. I was very upset and she said they have someone come in and strip the bedding. My concern is I was checking out that day there was no need to strip bedding as I was not checked out and still had stuff in the room. If staff are not currently in a room no door should EVER be left propped open for anyone to enter to room.
Kids love the pool area. Room was an executive room and was clean and big. Great, easy location. Restaurant has a great Sunday brunch that my family all enjoyed. Staff is very friendly. Hotel offers a shuttle.
I believe that your hotel was the finest we have stayed in on our vacation...my only concern is that people of less financial ability cannot stay with you and be a part of those of us who have so enjoyed our stay with you.
We stayed here to attend the annual state Stockgrower's Convention and found it to be perfect as a family holiday spot as well. The staff is quiet and friendly. The pool and waterpark are fun without being too crowded and noisy. And the quiet inner courtyard is a great please to walk the dog and get some fresh air!
