    « It's ok »

The front desk clerk was very friendly. The room was nice and clean but I had an adjoining room and the door was pretty thin .A lot of loud talk next door. The hotel was convenient to I440 for me. Would probably stay again

    « Business »

Good area for good night to rest service was great very clean Hotel, plenty of rooms, room was clean bigger than usual, very comfortable staff very respectful, breakfast was good I would recommend my family to stay

« quick visit to Raleigh »

We are in the process of relocating to Raleigh, NC and needed something close to downtown and that wasn't too expensive. We found a great deal at this hotel so we booked. I have no complains, the building is well kept and the housekeepers do a great job cleaning the rooms. Everyone was friendly and helpful not that I was expecting less from people from the south. If you are looking for something cheap and close to downtown I definitely recommend this hotel.

« Clean room. Good rates. Full free breakfast and Wifi »

Though we only stayed for one night, this hotel was perfect. Clean rooms. Comfortable beds. They also offer both regular rooms and suites, and free wifi and a full breakfast is included for around $90.

    « Hockey trip »

Great mid level hotel for our trip to Raleigh to see a hockey game at the PNC arena. Room had 2 queens and a sleep sofa, more than enough room for me and the 2 kids. Complimentary breakfast was well stocked and included eggs, pancakes and bacon. Overall a great choice for anyone looking for value lodging in the Raleigh area.

« Cheap, clean, good service »

The hotel was very reasonably priced, not modernly decorated but everything you need. Our room was very clean and the AC unit was very nice. Not loud at all! i was very pleased. The bed was moderate, but I slept very well. The whole family did. Service was nice and responsive. We had a problem with our TV and when we called, the person was very nice and someone came right up and fixed it with no complaint. Breakfast was fine, enough to get you going. Cold options, cereal and yogurt.

    « Pleasant Surprise »

I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet this motel was. Downtown Raleigh is a busy place, and this motel was on a major thoroughfare. Still, the motel was set back far enough from the road that we could have been in a small town for all the traffic noise we heard. The breakfast was excellent and offered more than the standard motel continental pastries one usually sees in motel free breakfasts. The room was super clean! I have severe allergies, and there wasn't a speck of dust to tickle my nose. The room smelled fresh, and the bathroom was clean and stocked with plenty of towels.

    « Raleigh Tour »

Traveled to Raleigh for a visit to a couple of schools in the area. I didn't know the area so selected a hotel that was reasonably priced, and this Best Western certainly fit the bill. It is an average hotel, for the price. It wasn't particularly clean, not really dirty - somewhere in between. The room I stayed in was worn out and didn't appear to be well maintained. The phone in my room didn't work, but that didn't really matter as there really wasn't a need to use it. The wifi was fast, the staff friendly and the breakfast was convenient. If I'm ever back in Raleigh I would spend a little more to stay in a nicer hotel/part of town.

    « Not satisfied!! »

The hallway of the building that I stayed in (I had to stay in a separate building from the main one) smelled very bad...very musty and moldy. Adults and children were hanging outside of the building after 11 p.m. The police showed up....not exactly sure what happened because I arrived when the officer was leaving. Adults were smoking right in front of the door to the building...very disrespectful. My non-smoking room smelled as if someone had been smoking in it.

    « Restful Hotel »

Both my traveling partner and I stayed over a night as we do business in NC. It is a decent hotel without much to shout about, the staff is nice and friendly, the room was good and clean smell good too however the elevator needs some serving. Generally the hotel has a nice surrounding the police present is always there and it has some good restaurants near by.

    « Best Western »

Very nice, clean, and convenient hotel at a good price. Traveling as a lone woman, I felt safe at this hotel. I was just bummed out that the pool was closed after Labor Day although it was 95 degrees.

« Clean and reasonably priced »

This is an excellent centrally located place to stay. Although it is not as new as the Best Western on Walnut Street the staff is very friendly and accommodating. On a previous visit I asked Christine where a good deal on a bike could be found. She directed me to the pawn shop across the street. Sure enough we found a good deal. Don't forget if you are a parent of an NC State student you get a very good discount on a room.

The BW Raleigh North-Downtown is a great place to stay. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was immaculately clean and very spacious and the breakfast was AWESOME! The location of this BW is perfect close to downtown plus very close to convenient stores, gas stations and restaurants. Very, very easy to access from any direction.

« Prepare for the smell! »

The staff is very pleasant, the smell is not. The first room smelled like mildew horribly. They were fully prepared to switch rooms and the second room was right next door and only a little better. They were fully prepared to keep switching us but we gave up and bought air spray. There was no hot water in the bathroom sink which we told them about but was not fixed. If we weren't both disabled we would have left and didn't have the energy. The staff was stonefaced and was prompted as to what to say about the smell cause they all responded the same way, "We can switch your room" Never again!!!

    « a good night sleep »

a good hotel for the money, staff went out of their way to help the breakfast standard close to town Bed vary comfortable a good place to stay good security for the hotel locked doors has an elevator parking lot has a lot of lights, even the tour buses stop at this hotel

« Room was nice, but.... »

When we checked into the hotel, it was raining.. the guest hallway smelled of mildew. Also, there were roaches in the room, small and medium size. Each day the maid came in to clean, she finished with spraying the carpet with some type of solution, which I am sure was to combat the smell in the room. The bed was comfortable, and the room was very large. We stayed in a separate building, and the parking was okay. The staff at the front desk was very nice and friendly.

« Better then other reviews would suggest »

Stayed here for a night when we went to see a concert locally. It was cheap, free breakfast free wifi. The room was comfy, was close by to fast food and restaurants and was a 10 min drive from the concert venue so worked a treat for us. I didnt notice any of the issues the other negitive reviews showed.

« Clean, Basic, reasonably priced, including breakfast. »

It's old, but fairly clean, and in working order. Hassle free, ample free parking, easy access. Wifi: worked ok Microwave: clean and adequate Coffee: yes, but only 2 serves and small single cup maker Kettle: sadly yanks don't rate them in rooms, so tea via microwave only Linen, pillows, bed all adequate Bathroom: over bath shower with soap and shampoo/conditioner sample size x 1 Breakfast: it might be the best feature of the hotel! Ample, porridge, bacon, juice, cereals galore

This hotel seems comfortable but once you stay you will see the problems are with long term guests loitering, smoking in front of entrance and not exhibiting clean behavior. The hotel is somewhat dirty and there were bugs present during this stay. This was my 4th and final stay at this Best Western.

    « Eaten Alive »

My family stayed at the hotel 3 days and 2 nights that hotel was very nice. Friendly staff as well my only downside is my husband and daughter we bitten up by ants very badly and almost a week later are still scratching all their bites.

    « Best Western Suites »

Hotel was clean and simple. The suite had ample space and breakfast was great, however the pullout couch in the suite was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. The mattress on the pull-out couch needs to be replaced.

« The worst hotel experience »

Let me first say that my fiancé and I went to this hotel knowing that it'll be a budget, no thrills hotel because of the price. But what we actually got was appalling. Our bed sheets and towels were damp which meant we didn't sleep much at all. The room smelt damp and rotten. But the worst part of this hotel room was the blood leading out from the bathroom on the carpet. It was disgusting and unacceptable. We shall not be staying in a Best Western hotel again and we urge people to not use these hotels either!

« Not sure what this question means. »

We usually enjoy our stay at Best Western, but this time the visit was a bit dampened by the roaches that were present. They were everywhere at night outside. They also had the ability to fly. The other portions of the visit were fine. We had breakfast there, and everything was very accommodating.

« For one night... it did the trick. »

First let me say this, I have stayed in amazing luxury hotels and I have stayed in the crappiest hotels on earth. This one is probably right smack in the middle, according to American hotel standards in the southeast. I'm not a huge chain hotel fan, but on occasion, you just need a place to sleep. This was the case, as I was traveling with my daughter and another mother/daughter pair to see a concert at The Ritz in north Raleigh. We chose this hotel because it was really affordable and had decent reviews. We weren't disappointed, but we certainly weren't impressed either. It was every aspect. Standard double room. Standard bathroom---but first time in a long time without a hairdryer. Standard breakfast (although honestly, if you eat clean/real food/healthy, you will be limited to a piece of fruit. There is yogurt, but it is the cheap sugary kind that isn't actually yogurt Just a heads up.) Standard check in and check out. Friendly front desk staff. There are two computers with printers in the front lobby, a pool that is clean and refreshing, plenty of space in the room although no folding beds or cots are on site, small balconies off the rooms, ample I said, very, very standard for the southeast. No frills...but clean, safe, comfortable, and a $6-8 Uber ride to the Ritz if you are seeing a concert. ;-)

    « Disappointing »

Friendly staff and decent breakfast but this hotel is worn out . Beds were small and not comfortable . Spent the night feeling as if I was falling out of bed because mattress was no longer firm enough . Shower was worn and did not drain without holding the drain mechanism. It is listed as "downtown" but certainly is not.

    « Very Nice »

I chose the "Very Good" option because I know many travellers will be seeking "Luxury Accommodations." To me that means "Fancy." Best Western is a bit more modest and basic, but very nice. I found this one very neat, clean and comfortable, and the staff friendly, professional and helpful. I had internet service, comfort, and service. At no point did I think "I wish I had spent more." In fact I had a moment, when I was checking out, when I thought "I'm glad I didn't go to one of the other, pricier options. This was really good, and that's all I paid for it!"

    « Get Away Weekend! »

My husband and I loved our stay here! The staff was great! Our room was clean and totally smoke free... always a major plus in our book, and a great breakfast bar! Would not hesitate to stay again and will be sure to tell our family and friends!!

« An inexpensive very nice stay! »

I was expecting an old, worn building. Howeer, the grounds were kept, clean up to date. The breakfast was a variety of choices. The breakfast attendant was so sweet!! Staff was friendly. room was very nice. Slept well. I will defiantly come back again if need be.

    « Over night stay »

Really clean, spacious rooms and a great breakfast spread. Breakfast staff were polite and continually refilled breakfast containers. The pool area looked really nice, I didn't get a chance to enjoy it though. The location is great but the address online was incorrect by a block. Reception staff weren't friendly or helpful at all. Washing detergent ran out at 7pm and when asked for it to be refilled they just shrugged and ignored me. This meant I had to go and buy my own detergent and was waiting around until midnight for my laundry to be finished. I was asked to leave the reception area to close up for the night by the receptionist and thankfully they let me stay when I pointed out that the only reason I was waiting around was because they refused to refill the detergent. Receptionist had head phones in and was listening to music after the front door had been closed, which is fine if you're still paying attention. But she definitely wasn't. Guests arrived late in the evening and had to knock loudly on the front entrance and she ignored them/didn't hear them. As a result I had to get the receptionists attention, as the lobby door was locked. She then yelled at the guest to use the back door without explaining where they needed to go. If the hotel had a sign posted on their door explaining what after our checkins needed to do, they wouldn't have had to stand around and get yelled at. Easy solution to a simple problem. Ultimately the hotel room is the most important aspect and it was very nice, clean and relaxing. However customer service is important and guests deserve to be treated with respect and employees should be respectful of all clients.

« Smelled awful, dirty and creepy! »

It was supposed to be a nonsmoking room and walking into the room almost dropped us with how bad it smelled. There are "red stains" on the floor, along with the window looking as if it had been kicked in. Then looking around there were also dirty socks under the couch and a belly button ring in the BED! Same sheets? Disgusting. On top of this being a "suite"

    « Great hotel »

clean, great price reliable hotel. good breakfast and nice size suite rooms for a inexpoensive price. The only complaint I have is the parking is terrible at this hotel and the lobby where the ice and drink machines are located locks at 9 PM which means i have to bring my own drinks and snacks unless im staying in the main building.

« glad we found it »

we checked out several hotels in the area but this one was the best one for the money. Others were too expensive and others were too run down. glad we found this via GPS. didn't get a chance to see the pool because there was soccer families staying and pool was busy. we also found the hotel early evening so had to spend time at dinner. hotel was quiet and bed comfortable. not too far from downtown Raleigh.

    « Nothing special »

Selected because of convenient location. There were many kids soccer teams staying there obviously in town for a tournament. When they opened for breakfast the place was swarmed with kids. Really disappointed that the lobby didn't open until 7am and had to walk across parking lot to Dunkin Donuts for coffee

« Budget friendly and comfortable »

The room was clean and decent, especially for the price. The hotel provides a free breakfast which really contributes to the value. There were a few issues with the key cards we received, but the staff took care of them quickly and politely.

« No Internet in suites. »

The Best Western Raleigh North is in a good location and close to the city centre. The hotel is clean and the breakfast room is good, not as great a variety as we have had at other Best Western hotels but still adequate. Pool area is nice. We were in the suites at the back of the hotel and in the days that we were at the hotel we didn't have internet connection. Whilst l reported this we did not receive any contact from the hotel staff or the manager. We did ask that the manager contact us as l need to do some work but alas they didn't see the need to service my query.

« Clean Comfortable Excellent Value Hotel »

I stayed for 2 nights. I chose this hotel because I have stayed at Best Westerns in the past and it was close to Duke Raleigh Hospital. This hotel is in an excellent location right of the 440. ALL the staff over the 2 days was very friendly and helpful. The hotel and property were immaculate. It could use good signage at the road. You can miss it very easily. The dining room was clean, neat and the continental breakfast was excellent. The pool was clean. The room was spotless and I did do a complete check for bed bugs. I found no evidence what so ever. The free WiFi was fast. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless. If you look around the hotel and room you can see some dated things. But what you get for the price and service, it's really not noticeable. It's also right next to a Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins store. I lost my key cards at the Hospital and they were wonderful about replacing them. I wish I could have stayed longer. I will definitely be staying there again. .

    « Clean affordable hotel »

We stayed there for a couple of days, the hotel is clean, they offer free breakfast and there is dunkin donuts in the same lot. The downside, they didn't allow early check in even though it was 3 hours early.

    « No WiFi »

I was disappointed that there was no WiFi in the Suites. Well you might get it for a minute or two but it's worse than dialup. When you spend extra for a Suite and you get nothing in return you get disappointed.

« Good hotel - busy street location »

They need to cut down some bushes or get a bigger sign. Very difficult to see on the busy two lane street and hard to get in when you are on the other side of road. Very heavy traffic. Desk clerk did not enter me in the $50 reward for two stays, so I missed out on that. Also, did not give good directions to a restaurant I want to go to. Said,. it was down about 3 lights to the left. Well, it was more than that and was in a strip mall, no visible from the street and heavy traffic. I did find it by error.

    « Clean and inexepnsive »

Hotel overall was not bad for the price. Rooms are a little on the older looking side but the bed was comfortable and the shower piping hot. Easy access to highway and airport. Centrally located. Staff very courteous and professional.

« Best value and service »

We had a king room, which it was comfortable and clean. My daughter and I stayed for one night. Hotel was a quick drive to state board. Staff was friendly and courteous. Breakfast was basic but did the job. Hotel was in a great location to restaurants and shops. I loved the 12pm check out, gave me a chance to kick back while my daughter took her 4 hour exam.

« A great stay in an oasis »

I had business the next day in downtown Raleigh and planned to stay in a nearby budget motel but on arrival found that place unpleasant. This nearby Best Western motel came up on Google and it was totally different. Inviting place, safe, friendly and competent staff, wonderful king bed in a quiet room for a great price. Warm and tasty breakfast in the morning, too. I'd definitely stay here again.

    « Decent sleepover »

The location was great, less then 10 minutes from Crabtree Mall and prime location to many eating places. Walmart within 15 minutes away. The rates are reasonable and rooms are standard, no microwave or refrigerator. If looking for a decent place to rest for a nite or two.

« Best Western Raleigh North-Downtown, Raleigh, NORTH CAROLINA »

My wife and I stayed here for three days and the entire experience was everything we could have expected and more. The people at the counter were very helpful while the staff in the dining room and maintenance / cleaning people were very freinldy and made every effort to make our stay as enjoyable as posssible

    « You just can't beat it! »

After looking at photos and reading reviews about the property, I figured I would give it a shot...I am so happy I did! The property was clean and well kept. The staff is fantastic, especially Jamie who went above and beyond to make sure we were properly accommodated. The free breakfast had a nice variety and stayed stocked the entire time, even the late-comers had all options. I have read thousands of reviews but this is my first time writing one. This is definitely a go to for anyone who visits the Raleigh area, at least I know it is for me.

« Easy access from freeway and to downtown, lots of privet. »

We chose hotels that are out of town, close to a freeway exit and have easy access to downtown. This hotel fitted all our needs. The room was spacious, clean and the service friendly, free wifi and a standard continental breakfast. The downside for us were the hedges of privet that surround the hotel. My husband is allergic to pollen and we had to leave this hotel after one night because of the privet.

« Decent stay for the price »

This was my second stay at this property. I love Best Western and stay at them whenever I travel and it breaks my heart to say that this is my least favorite. It's a decent place to stay for what they charge but there's just an overall sense of cost-cutting that's hard to ignore. I was pleased with Luke, who checked me in wearing his uniform (last time whoever checked me in was wearing a gray hoodie - I wasn't even sure he worked there) and a smile. My room didn't have a microwave or mini-fridge, both of which I was counting on, but that's probably my fault for not examining the amenities list more closely - I just assumed they'd be there since they'd been in every other one of the Best Westerns I've been to. Breakfast is nearly all cereal carbs, with some yogurt, bananas, & oranges off to the side. On the positive, the internet worked well, the bed was comfy, the shower was warm, and my neighbors were quiet.

« Paradise in north Raleigh »

Clean lovely hotel, for the price and the location better than most cheap value options. The staff where great when it came to arranging an extra night, Jamie dealt with me well. Breakfast had a good range.

    « Good value »

One night stay Raleigh North. Booked the Best Western based on price and location. Check in wasn't great. The receptionist should listen more and talk less. Having said that .... room 107 was great. It's roomy and has a patio door leading out to the front. Hotel is secure and central. Breakfast ... good considering type and price of hotel

« Nice hotel, good value »

the hotel was nice, the rooms were clean and the beds were soft. Safe location. large spacious rooms. Breakfast was decent. many options. If you just need something clean, safe, and reasonably priced, this is a good choice.

    « Value »

No nearby hotel can beat this Best Western based on price and what you get for it. It was way cheaper than anything else that seemed credible in the area so we didn't know what to expect but booked a room anyway. Well, our stay was as good as it gets, the place felt safe, the room was excellent, the staff was nice and the location was convenient. We didn't get to try the free breakfast but the wireless internet (free as well) was really fast. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

« Will definately be back »

Great price...comfy bed...much better hotel then I expected! Breakfast on day 1 was amazing Day 2 not so much. Front staff is nice and the hotel in right next to highway exit! I have to come bqck to the area next weekend and will probably stay here again!

    « In town for a concert »

We came to Raleigh for The Formation World Tour, booked the room a couple weeks in advance & called a few days before to confirm and all was well. Check in was quick & easy. There were about 15 State Trooper cars in the parking lot so I felt extra safe. Guess they were there for a conference or something because they were all gone the next morning. The do have breakfast but we were so tired from the concert we missed it! Noon checkout was great to have & the room was neat & clean & the king size bed slept well. Bed was a lil firm but all the pillows were great.

    « Raleigh NC Trip »

This Best Western was located in an ideal location. It was literally minutes from downtown Raleigh and also to the Crabtree Mall which we frequented a lot for dinner and shopping. Plus it was a bonus that a Dunkin Donuts was right next door and there was a gas station right across the street that we filled up at before returning the rental car at the airport. Overall a great experience.

« Stayed one night for my nephew's wedding. »

Made my reservation weeks in advance for a one night stay. Requested a 12 noon check in with no response from Best Western. I drove in from out of state for my Nephew's 4 PM wedding. Clerk told me I could not check in till 3 PM. Told her I requested a noon check in. She said we don't read or go by those. I told her I have a 4 PM wedding. Sorry we're full is her response. I was traveling alone. Parking lot sure was empty for being full. Last time staying at Best Western.

« My 2nd visit to this Best Western, very happy with my stay there! »

I stayed in room 215, room was very clean, Mattress looked brand new, new carpet, very quiet. It has been recently renovated, the Lobby redone, the Breakfast room enlarged, new carpet throughout, friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of breakfast items, hot biscuits, gravy, pancakes, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. I will definitely stay here whenever I am in town.

    « ok not great »

If you're set on saving money, having a marginal breakfast, and being close to major roads, than this is your place to stay. However, during my stay the air conditioner didn't work, emergency sirens were heard all night, and I was instructed to install the batteries on a smoke alarm in the room by staff. Not much within walking distance for eating, unless you are willing to walk a mile one way. Great staff but mediocre experience,

    « Clean »

I had reservations at holiday inn next door. Problem was they don't take cash. So I came here and glad I did! Cheaper, breakfast is included, and is very clean. Person at service desk was very pleasant. No smoking room but I have my own private patio to go smoke on rather than go downstairs. You need room key to access building. All around great stay!

    « Clean Rooms »

I only stayed for one night. I was traveling for medical appointments. But the rooms were much better than I expected. The price was extremely reasonable. The water did not get very hot and there was no water pressure. But for the value, I would stay here again.

    « Very nice hotel »

Hotel was well located for our needs, which at this time was a hockey game. Check in was handled very well and staff very professional. Our room was very clean and well laid out although it did not have a refrigerator, so we used lots of ice to keep our stuff cold.

    « Great Location »

We were in town for a concert, and stayed at Best Western, because it was close to the venue. It met all of my expectations, and I'd stay there again, if I needed a room in Raleigh. Most of the other guests appeared to be there on business. There was plenty of parking, even with construction vehicles in the lots. Dunkin Donuts right beside the hotel was certainly an added bonus!

« Great place to stay »

The stay was excellent. The rooms are clean, beds and pillows are comfortable - expect a good nights sleep. Location is extremely convenient. In a very busy area - well kept property - you feel safe here. Sabrina was so kind and patient with all my questions when attempting to book at 10:30 pm. The staff are kind and courteous - wanting to help in any way possible.

    « Excellent value »

We stayed here Easter weekend in March 2016. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly and breakfast had many options. Only issue was getting out of the parking lot at busy times of the day.

    « Good Basic Motel »

Everything was acceptable and breakfast was very good. Good value for the cost. Parking was good. Access to main points of interest was good. Staff was accommodating. Shower was clean and good in-room coffee selection,

« Okay, clean room for one night »

Close proximity to downtown Raleigh. Entrance is a pain to get into during the day. Check in was quick and easy. Room is clean with plenty of towels, soaps, etc. Mattress and pillows are comfortable. Not sure what kind of event is taking place in the area or if the guests here are frequent visitors, but the other guests during our stay were a bit sketchy...partying, loud music, pot smell in the hallway. Okay for one night for us, but best to get up early and get out.

    « Great Stay »

Was in town for a two day training. Room was perfect upon my late(r) night check-in. Housekeeping was great throughout stay. Hotel was clean, and looked to have been recently renovated. Bed linens were clean and in good condition. Bathroom was nice and clean. Breakfast good. Staff friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed by stay. Highly recommend for budget hotel. Felt safe for female traveling alone.

    « Pleasant, Clean, and Well-maintained Hotel »

Both outside and inside this hotel was not only spotless, but also updated and comfortable. Bedding was a nice quality and mattress was just right for a good night's sleep. The room was well appointed with desk, overstuffed chair and footstool. Breakfast was a cut above the typical and attractively presented. The bananas were just the correct ripeness. Instead of a typical waffle machine, there were make-your-own pancakes. Scrambled eggs, sausage, and fried potatoes were other specialties. For the price this place was a great bargain.

    « E-Cig smelling room »

Stay out of Rm. 216, they must have had a E-Cig party there, the room smelled awful, had it not been for the NCAA opening round there in Raleigh that weekend I would have moved to another hotel, don't think I will be staying at this hotel again

the hotel is close to everything so I like that. But I did not receive some of the supplies I asked for until it was time to check-out. I did not like the fact that the housekeeper did not want to give up the extra supplies.

    « Pleased with stay »

The room was fresh, clean and quiet with excellent condition furnishings and carpeting. We got the king-sized bed and had a very comfortable nights rest. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent cleanliness, couldn't be better.

    « Decent Hotel - Terrible Location »

The thing that sticks out the most for me is accessing this hotel via car is a real challenge. Capital Blvd is a very busy road. This hotel is on Capitol and the 440 exit is the very next thing. When coming in from downtown, you have to wait for a large enough gap to get across 4 lanes of traffic that never stops. Leaving is the real challenge. I never tried to head north but I'm guessing you would head south and make a u-turn. Heading south is a challenge as you must fight traffic and very quickly pick your lane as you are coming out into the 440 exit ramps. Also, once you are in the parking lot, the spaces are tiny. Ok, enough about driving. The place is old but I'm going to guess it was very well remodeled within the past 3 years. Things that were not changed include bathroom doors, tubs, tub tile, and a cabinet holding a mini fridge. They did a good job. The beds, bedding, dresser, fridge, microwave, counters, and plumbing fixtures were all updated to what you would expect in a new hotel. Comfort should not be an issue. I didn't notice any cleanliness issues but I wasn't really there long enough to find anything. Breakfast service was decent. There is a really neat pancake making machine. You push a button and wait for a fresh pancake to drop out of the end. They had four hot items including oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon, and diced potatoes with peppers. The bacon was not really good. All 8 of us would suggest they explore another option there. There were also breads, cereal, instant grits, and yogurt. Different sections of the hotel are separate buildings. This was a little odd as you have to walk outside to get to another room if it is on another hallway or if you want to walk to the lobby. Also, taking the stairs requires going outside. There is an elevator but I like the stairs. The stairs cannot be accessed from the exterior so going up requires the elevator. We were in room 206 so I can't comment on how this worked in other areas of the property. If you like quiet rooms, this place is not for you. We easily heard every conversation in the hall and I heard things being moved around downstairs under our room. Our room was not street or highway side but I'm wondering if that could be an issue for some. Would I stay here again? I'm divided but I think I would skip it. The driving access was just too challenging. Maybe there was a way out the back to a side road. If that exists, then it would be better but if not, I don't think I'll be back. My review is a little limited. I arrived late to a room that had already been checked into. My son was already in there with the lights out. My mom handled the reservation, check in, and check out. So, I only commented on as much as I can.

    « Very Clean!! »

I needed an inexpensive place to stay near Raleigh and didn't want to pay downtown prices. The location is a tad scary, but what do you expect for the price. The hotel is old and building was musty in general but the room was SPOTLESS! I constantly saw people cleaning around the hotel and I was very impressed with how clean the room was. You can tell the housekeeping staff go over and above to clean and they recently were awarded a housekeeping award for 2015; they deserve it. The hotel is convenient to highway but hard to get in and out of parking lot

« Nice overnight business stay with family »

Making reservations by phone with Luke was totally painless. When we arrived the next evening the reservation was just as I asked ~ 2 double rooms as close together as possible. They were actually adjoining rooms so my grand kids enjoyed it. :) The only fault with the rooms was a strong mildew smell. My son found that the carpet by the fridge was soaking wet and possibly the reason for the foul smell. He brought it to the attention of the young lady at the front desk when we were checking out. There was a very rowdy group of young women in and out of rooms and hallway between 11pm and 12pm. Just when I thought I'd had enough they finally settled down and we slept off and on. The heat/ac unit was very loud. Other than these issues, we had a good stay. The breakfast was excellent, facilities very clean and all of the staff would make you want to return very soon!

« Great place, but must whisper »

Clean, up dated room decor, with all the amenities you expect at a mid range motel. Very satisfied with everything, except the paper thin walls and no refrigerator. We heard every word next door a guy was saying on his cell phone until 1 AM unfortunately. So we decided we better whisper to each other, so he would not hear us. Not a place for a wild night in the hay, that's for sure. Full free breakfast was very nice and had everything you'd want to start your day. Food area closes up at 9:30 AM, but worth getting up early for. The highlight is fresh made pancakes. But they need to offer sugar free syrup as a choice. Noon check out was also a plus. Would definitely return. With AARP senior discounts, it was reasonable and we could be in the center of downtown in 10 minutes.

« Good choice for an inexpensive stay »

Needed a place to check in late and leave early next morning so didn't need a lot of "extras". The room was clean and quiet and the bed comfortable. They serve some form of breakfast but had to leave well before it started. Would use again in a similar situation.

    « Enjoyed My Stay »

My husband turned 40 so i had a surprise party set up for him in the breakfast/meeting area which came out very nice & he loved it all. Then we stayed two nights at the hotel which was nice and relaxing.

    « City Escape »

The hotel is located in a great area outside of the downtown area right off the highway to go anywhere in the research triangle. Plus it has a conveniently located Dunkin Donuts right out front. Overall is was a great stay with friendly staff.

    « Good »

Good hotel for the price! Stayed her for the state basketball tournament. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was okay. Only complaint was the noisy heater/ac unit in the room. Hotel was quiet and the staff were friendly. Good customer service!

    « Close to I-440. »

This property's location close to the Raleigh Loop is one of its best features. Internet is also fast & reliable. I appreciated Luke, who opened an extra check-in counter when he saw me waiting in line. The breakfast coffee was excellent.

    « Good Hotel »

Hotel had Nice rooms, friendly staff, comfortable bed, decent area, i enjoyed my overall stay and experience, i would recommend to family and friends, parking lot is a little tight when it comes to park, cars are very tight

« Ask where your room is! »

This property is really two buildings. The main one you see in the photos is what you would expect in the way of lobby, services, etc. HOWEVER, they have a second building completely separate from the main property that they referred to as "the suites". Ha. Not exactly. Just normal rooms (at least what we stayed in). Room was fine, BUT two big problems. First, there is no elevator. We were on the second floor and had to lug everything up an outside staircase. Second, you can forget running down to the lobby for breakfast. Probably not bad on a beautiful spring morning, but we were they during the winter. It's a hike across the parking lot. Finally, at least during the 4 days we stayed there it was tour bus city. At least 4 large coach buses there each night.

    « Excellent Choice! »

Staff very accomodating after flight was postponed. Breakfast had very good variety and was tasty. Housekeeping service fullfilled requests for extra items without reservation or attitude. The location was very convenient to other stores and restaraunts.

« No Towels and Roaches »

I stayed at this location twice for 2 days each time. The first visit was pleasant and I enjoyed the stay and the room. The second time was not pleasant. The housekeeper cleaned the room but didn't leave towels and we saw a roach.

« Good breakfast, fast internet »

The hallway of the hotel smelled a little but the room is very clean. The staff including front desk, cleaning crew, and kitchen staff were all very polite and friendly. The front desk person was nice to replenish toiletry items and bath towels. The hot breakfast was yummy (eggs, sausages, bacon, potato, pancakes..) I also appreciated the fast internet, it was even better than expensive hotels. My room has a little balcony where I can get fresh air. The only thing that is not desirable for the hotel is the location. It is at super busy street. It was very difficult to head north on capital blvd as there was no traffic light at the hotel entrance to helped me to get to the opposite direction. The hotel sign is a bit hidden as well. If you see Dunkin Donut, it's right next to it.

« If you need a comfortable room, this is your spot!! »

I've stayed here four times over the past three months. Each time the staff is courteous and goes out of their way to be helpful. The rooms are basic but if you're looking for a comfortable bed/pillows in a clean room with a hot shower, then this is everything you will need.

« great location and value »

this was a great place for me to stay while i was in town for events that were in the downtown area--everything was an easy 8-10 minute drive. the room was nice and roomy and had everything i needed, plus it was a great value. the staff was very helpful and got me in and out in record time. i will definitely come back to this hotel next time i'm in the area.

    « personal »

Good because of staff and breakfast was good Heating unit was TERRIBLE and no shower curtain and did not have time to wait for one so no shower Average but a little high on prie for condition of place

« Clean, cheap but not a great location or experience »

Room was clean and cheap. Lots of blue collar extended stay clients. Motor coaches seem to park in the rear lot. Also utility trucks. Hotel is nonsmoking, but lots of smokers are cycling to the entrances and stairwells. One instance of public urination by a multitasking smoker on a phone call.

« Been coming here for two yesrs and very happy with the service »

I wanted to mention the exemplary support Tracy has been giving me and my family for the past two years. She has on many occassions, provided invaluable help to our travel and lodging needs. I should have been writing these reviews all along.

    « Huge rooms »

I stayed here for 1 night with a tour group. Room was very spacious with 2 double beds and good sized bathroom. Room was mostly clean, except when we checked in, there was a used piece of soap in the shower. Room also has fridge and microwave. Breakfast had a good selection and was tasty.

« Best Western was great »

The rooms were clean and beautifully appointed. The breakfast was the best ever. There were many items (hot and cold) to choose from. The lobby was attractive and it was an excellent experience. The location was convenient to many excellent restaurants and getting downtown was easy.

    « Great visit »

My daughter and I checked in last night for a nearby volleyball tournament and were very pleased. The rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable, and the staff are friendly and professional. Our tournament is in the downtown area, which is a straight shot from the hotel. There are several good restaurants nearby which also adds to the convenience. For the money and location, you can't beat it.

    « raleigh hotel »

nice hotel with good location Breakfast was warm with a good selection. Friendly staff. who gave good directions to restaurants and airport. Receptionist gave good instructions when i could not connect to wifi.

    « Very good stay. »

I am a diamond member and was given a free upgrade to a suite upon my arrival. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was a little rough around the edges in some spots but not a deal breaker. The only concern I had was that there was an odor/ air freshener smell in the living area that kind off bugged me. The bedroom wasn't affected and was comfortable and clean. I got a good nights sleep.

    « Comfortable with a good location »

Ask for a King size bed, one of the most comfortable beds I ever slept in - including higher end hotels like the Ritz (Atlanta) Hyatt (Arlington) and Hilton (Charlotte). The breakfast was good with applegate sausages and more variety then the typical "continental" breakfast. Only thing bad was that we needed AC in the winter time and it blew the circuit breaker - but it was an easy fix by the hotel staff. Great location to downtown and also to areas around the research triangle (route 440 is right there).

« Charged two times for my rooms »

I prepaid for my rooms but was still charged again when I arrived at the hotel. When I realized the discrepancy and called the hotel, the staff was extremely rude. Now I have to wait 7-10 business days to get my money back. Also, we arrived extremely late for checkin. I called in advance to let them know that we were arriving late. We were in town for the funeral of my 10 yo niece. My family and I had to stand outside at a little window, at 4 am, while the clerk checked us in. We weren't even allowed to enter into the lobby.

« Trip to see Father-in-law, get real BBQ. »

The real BBQ is at Clyde Cooper's Barbecue on Davies st. If you are in Raleigh NC check it out. And make sure you take some home. I did not get enough as its gone already. Parking is a little problem, as it is a busy street with construction work is going on now. There is no refrigerator, microwave, or safe, but room is nice for a one nite stay only.

« Super friendly staff, tidy rooms »

Can't beat it for the price. The location if perfect being right off a main highway, the staff is super friendly, the beds are comfortable, the water is hot with good pressure and breakfast is basic but tasty.

« Close to the Interstate, not so close to the city »

This hotel is on a very busy highway with many fast food outlets and petrol stations around. Other than that the neighbourhood has little to offer. This hotel has a good breakfast room. There was a problem with the room and it was fixed after a while.

    « the great service »

there are two people that I would like to thank that is chris that worked the front desk at night and Aided that did the breakfast always smiling and keep everything up like nothing ever brother her Chris the same these two people I give a 10 to and thank them for a wonderful stay

    « good hotel »

very nice hotel, clean. Staff was helpful and very friendly. Bed was comfortable. I enjoyed my stay at Best Western North-Downtown Raleigh and I would recommend it, The hotel is close to everything and easy to get to.

    « The Best Hotel »

The pillows are so soft, the King size bed makes your sleep so very comfortable. The breakfast also, are the best. Biscuits, pancakes, bacon and eggs, Home made home fries are so good. The kitchen is so clean, and friendly. yes, I recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. You must try it..

« Great service and consideration »

During a busy Weekend in Raleigh including the NC State Fair, I under-booked my reservation. The staff was able to arrange for another night at the Best Western without a room change for me. It relieved my anxiety of finding another motel on a super busy and crowded weekend in Raleigh.

« It smelled of smoke »

The rooms smelled like a 1970's disco, The area was separated from the main building with no elevator. Just overall old and smelly. The main office area was clean and the staff was efficient. The lighting in the rooms was similar to something you may have in an outdoor shed or garage.

    « Courteous staff »

Courteous staff, and good breakfast. I enjoyed my stay. The receptionist was courteous and kind. The location was also very convenient. This is my 2nd stay at a Best Western hotel, and I liked it enough to consider staying there again.

« stay was fine but reservation counter was not »

Hotel was fine. clean and friendly. However reservation counter ( part of expeedia) had only an automated phone number and I could not change the reservation for the first to arrive. This caused one person in our party to have to wait in the parking lot for 2 hours while the other parties arrived.

    « Enjoyed stay »

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and fresh. Looked nice. Bed was comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Good location. Everything in Raleigh is convenient from here. You will love the hotel staff.

    « Excellence »

We so enjoyed our 1st 3 night stay at beginning our 3 week six state tour that we finished our trip with another 3 night stay!! Best Western Raleigh North-Downtown, North Carolina is pure excellence from location, amenities but especially their outstanding staff from management to housekeepers!!

    « Worn out »

Location was great, but the hotel smells of rot and mildew. Hotel needs to be renovated. The personnel working the desk were very helpful. Most seemed to be sincerily trying to help. The price, was competitive with similiar properties in the área, It was over 80 degrees but the pool was closed.

    « Decent stay »

The only complaint that I had was that they did not clean my room as requested. The front desk staff is very polite and helpful! The breakfast was well. The other thing is this location is kind of hard to get out of unless you're headed to 440W

    « Short stay »

I stayed here for one night due to early morning meeting. The hotel was close to highway. My room is spacious and typical hotel. The bed was comfortable, though pillows were kinda small. My room had balcony overlooking the pool. Check in and check out were quick and easy. I skipped breakfast, but it smelled nice. Parking is mainly on sides of hotel.

« Good value, great breakfast »

Good location. Close to freeways, a great mall, and restaurants. Dunkin donuts is right next door. We were very impressed with the continental breakfast, good selection. Coffee was kind of weak, so we walked over to Dunkin for our coffee. Room was clean and bed was VERY comfortable. Put a do not disturb sign on your door though, because the housekeeper knocked on our door at 8:30am to clean the room and the second morning the fire alarm went off at 7:30 am for a false alarm. So there was no sleeping in for us... But overall, for the price, it was a nice place to stay. Close parking. Felt safe, had to swipe into the building.
