SureStay by Best Western Portland City Center

This edge of downtown Portland property was great for a value minded traveler. Very easy access to mass transit, friendly staff, and clean rooms were what this value minded travel couple seeking and it delivered. Used by travelers and family of nearby hospital, we felt safe,

Well don't be expecting much, room was clean, staff were friendly, those are all the pros unfortunately. The cons; terrible breakfast, noisy neighbours/area, room wasn't cleaned during my 5 day stay, bad sound insulation.

The room door had a loose mortise lock plate which resulted in a loose locking mechanism. It was a late check-in and we used our own screw driver to tighten this. This room door was loose and not a good fit into the jam (possible damage in past from being forced or kicked open??). The hallway door and outside entrance would not close without a full tug and we repeatedly found it ajar and open when returning to the hotel from activities/meals at night. We did not feel totally secure staying at this Best Western.

If I could give this hotel a negative stars, I would. Do not stay here. It's filthy and criminals stay here. The filthiest room I've ever stayed in. Even what looked like fecal matter on the carpet. Filthy, all of it. The mattress was old, worn and about 6 inches thick. Also filthy.

Clean large rooms with simple but filling breakfast. Rooms were warm upon arrival. but cooled quickly once we started the AC. Easy to find with friendly staff. Would recommend for family or friend trips.

When I walked in I said hello how are you to the front desk and he said "reservation?" And ignoted my intail comment. Completely unprofessional and rude. The room was extremely musty. We let it air out and that onlt helped a little. There were wet spot on the floor. Stains on the ceiling. There was a sharp incline into the bathroom that is an extreme trip hazard and is not marked or has anything to make guests aware that you need to step up into the bathroom. I was double charged and still haven't been refunded. The hotel staff says they can't do anything. Also was locked out of room in the morning and had to go get card reactivated to get the rest of our things out of the room. It was only 10:15. I wonder if when they reactivated the room card that was supposed to be working that's when I got double charged? Overall terrible experience and extremely disappointed because I usually have an enjoyable time at Best Westerns. I guess I can't trust the brands that arr by best Western like Sure Stay. Would not ever recommend, in fact I make sure to tell people not to go there now. I will be making a Google review. Again I still have not been refunded the additional room charge when I only stayed for one night and that was what the reservation was for all along. Best Western owes me $125 and they said they can't help me and I have to call my bank. Which is closed because it's the weekend. This is stealing and it is not okay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly, the rooms clean, and breakfast was fresh and yummy. It was close to everything so we could leave the car parked and just walk everywhere. We would definitely stay here again!

Highly recommend you avoid this place if you are traveling to Portland. We selected this as it was cheaper than other accommodations, however it wasn't worth the cost savings. Service staff were rude and accusatory, mentioning that they could see everything we do because of the security cameras installed throughout the building. I felt like a criminal at this place. Also the breakfast was basically toast, yogurt and an apple. Avoid this place if you can.

I didn't check in or out of this property, never stayed there, yet I got an email about my checkout. They don't check I identification or validate reservations at this hotel, this is a hotel for scammers.

Due to a medical appointment at the U of Oregon my preference is to stay at this hotel/motel. It's NOT downtown and I feel safe as parking in the courtyard is monitored by camera and can be visualized by the staff. Additionally, Suki's Bar & Grill is downstairs and has a varied menu. Pool table, game machines are available and there was a live trivia pursuit game in progress when I arrived.

The staff was very nice. This property is in a very busy part of the city with traffic all around- meaning the noise of trucks and cars starts early morning, The building and rooms are very old. The breakfast was not what you expected from Best Western- nothing hot. Just not restful, but if you want to walk to the city it's for you.

I got to the motel in approximately 1:30 in the morning I couldn't drive any further in my work was done I just wanted to pass out but there was this little snag with my finances but I use my Best Western points and some cash and got a room everybody there was a really super helpful pleasant people definitely stay there again and the room was super

Upon reserving I was told room was clean and quiet. Upon arrival I found a) room smelled like toxic perfume to mask smell of smoke and old carpet and 2) room was situated directly above a very busy city street. The heater fan sounded like an jet engine punctuated by high pitched screams from dying passengers, When I went to borrow a blanket at 2AM because the room was cold, a very rude front desk attendant questioned why I needed one and actually argue with me before handing over a think blanket, which I was careful not to allow in contact with my skin. In short, room was stinking, noisy, and shabby and attendant was insufferably rude.

Portland has a lot of new hotels. Surestay on 4th Avenue is close to freeways, downtown Portland and Portland State University. It's safe and well priced. Suki's Restaurant and bar is downstairs and offers good food (can't beat it during Happy Hour) and drinks with clients or friends - and they have karaoke (not my thing, but it may be yours). Rooms are basic and fairly no frills, but it's fine for a overnight business trip and they're clean. Not fancy but attentive staff is great and the breakfast (self serve and complimentary) is competitive with what other hotels do (no sausage or bacon just FYI).

Clean hotel, conveniently located, and well priced for Portland. It's basically no frills and a little dated but none the less, a pleasant stay. The metro is close by. Breakfast is sparse compared to most best Westerns but there are adequate cafes nearby.

Kudos to management and team for keeping this facilities so clean. Home away from home. Thanks for providing a safe sanctuary so I can stay close to my husband while he recuperate in the hospital. Awesome job and a great place to stay.

The floor was stained in huge liquid stains in multiple places. The room smelled like a moldy gym. One of my pillows had, what appeared to be, a permanent bloodstain on it. The security doors don't even close shut, the building should just have a sign over it that says, "walk right in and rob our guests. Also this building should be condemned". Sleeping on the sidewalk would have been cleaner.

Check In was 8-6-22,We arrived 8-7-22 @ 7am due to a family emergency. The front desk manager told us we had 4hrs to check out..I said can we please get a late check out since we have been driving all night..His response NO..So I paid for another night to be able to rest..When my daughter and I entered the room it had what looked like blood stains on the carpet and the room was similar to a jail cell...Very unwelcoming. Never Again will we stay at this hotel..I'm an ELITE member as well

The hotel was very easy to access off of the highways. Staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was well stocked.I thought it was very good value for the price we paid. We would definitely stay there again when we're in Portland.

We needed a place to stay that was near the Oregon Health Sciences University for a next day appointment. This was perfect for someone coming in from out of state. The location was ideal getting off from the freeway.

This location is very convenient for getting to and from OHSU, or the college. It is on a busy street, so you can hear traffic, and is a bit confusing getting to with the one way streets in the area. The front staff was extremely helpful in navigating the area. The carpet seemed a bit old and the hallways a bit dark, but the room was clean. There are many places to eat close by.

This is my first time at a Best Western Sure Stay and was very pleased. Location is great to downtown, but the parking lot is very small. I will be staying here again in the future so I can park there and walk downtown to see the sights.

My first time lodging here. The staff was very pleasant. The room was very clean, and hadil the amenities a person needs. The location was somewhat noisy, being close to very heavy traffic I look forward to returning in the future..

Convenient location with unbeatable prices. Rooms come with microwave and refrigerator. If all you need are basic amenities and friendly service, this is the place. A little far away from services such as restaurants and groceries if you don't have a car.

Very modern remodel. Super friendly staff. Location was perfect because I was there on a medical trip to OHSU and it's .5 miles away. During my experience my love one had complications during a procedure I left in a hurry from hotel room leaving my cell phone behind. After a couple days I returned and there it was waiting for me. I chose this hotel for its proximity to OHSU, along with the price, and it's become obvious to me that SureStay may be a subsidiary of Best Western but it is the lower end of the quality spectrum. The front desk staff are not friendly or helpful. In the room I stayed in during my last stay the carpet was buckled in numerous places. I tripped over it a number of times. Rooms are not being cleaned every day, likely due to Covid, but the price has not decreased.

Smaller room and a little older, but bed, pillows, towels, etc were very clean and very comfortable. In best location to reach OHSU for necessary visits. As always, confused about traveling Portland freeways, but able to get around from this location easily.

Front desk is not welcoming at all/ heaven forbid you decide to stay another night at checkout time. I am a diamond select member and I was treated as if i was homeless. Bathrooms are updated and beds are comfy.

I have stayed at the SureStay by Best Western several times, and I always have a terrific experience. The staff are wonderful and the place is terrific. There's a great restaurant right below too. And convenient shopping.

Pull out bed had dirt and dog hair covered sheets. Breakfast was a bag of rotten and expired 'food' items. Suggested to staff that slamming doors be looked at. Response was RUDE and staff directed fault to me (for not complaining sooner). Only 1 staff member at counter was glued to her cell phone. Very unprofessional.

First room had a horrible smoke smell so they switched me to a different room. This one had no odor issue so I'm happy. I turn on the AC and notice that's where the smell was. I tried seeing if I could get used to the smell but I just had a terrible headache. I had to go without ac or heat in a musty room. I thought about just sleeping in the car. Never again.

Very close to OHSU, our two king bed room was very spacious, wifi worked great, and breakfast is served in the morning. The orange juice was great, not watered down or anything. Large roomy balcony with chairs too.

My nephew needed a room nearby our home. We chose this hotel as it was less than a quarter mile down the road, it's most beneficial feature. It was adequate in most regards, however, expensive for its amenities. At reception was a professional and informative gentleman. He assisted with all our needs. I would recommend it if one needed something in the immediate area.

Okay experience, first time in Portland, there for a retreat and I didn't know the city. I have since learned of many other better places to stay if I were to do it again. The place was old and run down. The worse part was that it was very noisy from highways nearby and I barely slept. Close to bus, but not close to Max lightrail train. As a single woman I would not stay here again.

This older hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but the staff were terrific and the room was very comfortable. It has a great location near the trolley to get all around downtown. Highly recommend it

Dirty, unprofessional appearance of the builing, stale breakfast food, no coffee, unfriendly staff, horrible mattress, shower didnt work, extremely expensive. A complete and total waste of my money. If I could give it a lower rating I would
