Best Western Pony Soldier Inn - Airport

The hotel room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The outdoor hot tub was open (in February) and was clean, had fresh towels, and was amazing. The staff was rude, condescending, and complained in front of guests about doing their job. The location is sketchy (no fault of the hotel). The front doors are locked and require you to be buzzed in before you have a key card. We would have rated this hotel much higher had the 3 staff members (the only ones we dealt with) been friendly and professional.

Great place to stay whenever you are flying o ut of PDX. We had a king suite again, and really enjoy the jet tub! Breakfast was good and had plenty of choices. Staff was great too and responded rapidly to an issue we had with our plumbing.

I hate giving negative reviews because I know that people are trying their best but I cannot sugarcoat my experience with this particular hotel. I pre-registered to save time on check in, I was asked if I wished to upgrade to a spa tub and i checked yes. When I arrived after drving 6 hours, the front door was locked at 8:15 pm. It was cold and windy. There is a doorbell to ring that noone answered for over 5 minutes of ringing. There is a second doorbell that says to use after hours. No answer there. Then my girlfriend ran up to the window of the front desk and banged on it to get someones attention. Finally someone came to the door. Check in was aggravating because the front desk person seemed extremely scattered so I didn't want to add to her frustration. The paperwork in front of her had the word "SPA" written on it so I thought that that would be clear. She mentioned that I was a platinum member several times and I guess that I get 2 free bottles of water at check-in. She did not give me the water and when I got to the room, it had a regular tub so I had to go back to the front desk again. I didn't mention the water because It isn't a big deal. So we went back to the first room that we were given to get our luggage and went to the new room to see if it had the spa tub. It did so I went back to the front desk again to return the key for the first room. Once we were settiled in the new room, it was obvious that it had not been vacuumed but I didn't want to complain after the initial check in issues. The next morning we noticed a lot of little bugs all over the bathroom. After grabbing as many as I saw and flushing them, we went out for the day. We did not see the bugs again until the second morning so we had thought that we caught all of them. They were all over the bathroom to the point that we checked the bed and then each other to make sure that we didn't have bites on us. We didn't. When I pre-registered I chose to have the express check out and have the receipt e-mailed to me. By the time we were ready to leave, I had not yet had my bill sent to me so I had to go back to the front desk again. I'm sorry to complain but honestly, this was my worst experience at a Best Western in many years.

Everything was good despite the shady location (Sandy Blvd) and there are many homeless there. But hotel itself is clean, door is locked to keep homeless and shady ppl from coming in. Staff are nice. It's pretty clean surprisingly and seemed to be kept updated and well-maintained. Room is also well-maintained. They have sufficient staff for each department so you don't feel like coming to a ghost hotel:) All compared to the price are very good

Nice room at a good price. The gentleman at the front desk in the evenings needs some lessons in customer service, but I mentioned it to the morning desk person, and she apologized for him and said she would talk to him, so thank you! Will probably stay again.

This is a great location, just right off the freeway. I love it as it is close to whatever I want to do. I like the breakfast is from 0600-1000. So if I want to get going early or late it's no problem. I highly recommend this place.

This hotel was fine. The area was run down but it was close to the transit system. The staff did not seem very happy and the one lady at the front desk was sleeping on the front desk. The rooms were ok but the breakfast was highly disappointing. The items were not restocked regularly (ie cream and milk). The scrambled eggs were green one morning, apparently because of the warming dish they were in. The man that was working there 2 of the mornings was sick and sneezing on food. He was blowing his nose into a well used Kleenex.

Always treated like family when we stay here and our 2 Pomeranians are the star of the show with staff and guests alike. Breakfast is always great, rooms are great. easy to get to and close to airport with shuttle serve to and back.

Above average Best Western Hotel for sure. Excellent is more like it. Great location near the airport, nicely decorated hotel, great pool & hot tub, & fantastic breakfast. Friendly and welcoming hotel staff.

We stayed 2 nights. No major problems, but minor annoyances. Pop-up sink stopper was not connected, so had to remove it to drain the sink. Of more importance, the immediate neighborhood seems to be of questionable safety. Lots of scruffy looking people with nothing to do, wearing backpacks and just wandering around apparently with nothing to do. We went for short walks during the day, but probably wouldn't in the evening. Pretty good restaurant across the parking lot (Elmers).

Area has transient activity. Most places do nowadays. :( I would not go out at night. Good lighting in the lot. Needs some updates to rooms. Room clean. AC working. Breakfast good. Price good. Worked well for us for the night. Pet friendly a plus.

This was as always with Best Western very comfortable, large rooms. The breakfast was a full, delicious breakfast with all I could have wanted! The handicapped shower was easy access and the stay was delightful.

Nothing real fancy but nicely kept and close to the PDX. The breakfast quality and selection was comparable to restaurant quality. Seriously. People at the front desk were helpful in navigating reservations and the staff seemed happy. I'd come back.

Very clean, comfortable rooms and beds. Breakfast had everything! So many options, meats, vegetarian and even lactose free yogurt. Quiet hotel, no noise from traffic or other guests during our stay. I'd stay here again.

This hotel is in a very sketchy part of Portland. They even lock the front doors to prevent the homeless from coming in. The front desk staff were not welcoming. The carpet looked dingey and needed a good vacuum. We booked 2 rooms & at one point both bathrooms were occupied with members of our group taking a shower. One of my friends really had to use the bathroom at that time so she went downstairs to use the bathroom in the lobby. The door was locked & a sign said you needed a key from the front desk. She went to the front desk to ask for the key. The middle Eastern male asked her why she couldn't just use the bathroom in her room. She explained her friend was showering & so she could not use the bathroom. He then told her to go outside and use the pool bathroom. She asked where that was. He seemed annoyed. Just then a female worker came around thr corner & saud,"just give her the key". He then gave her the key. Why was this so difficult? Why the run around? What happened to customer service? All the staff seemed unhappy & if you asked for something they seemed put out. The pool area was nice & the rooms are ok. Hot breakfast items were cold & had to be microwaved. It is very close to the airport. However, I would pay more money & stay somewhere in a better area & with staff who actually put the customer first.

Our airline comp us a hotel and this is what we picked. The shuttle service they provide was nice, they came right out after we called. The room was nice and staff friendly. We Ubered to a nearby voodoo doughnuts.

I had a very pleasant experience at this Best Western location for my two-night stay. The design layout of the Pony Solider property and large lobby area gave this location an uncanny, unique Best Western feel. The hotel's security policy regarding lobby access gave it a "gated community" sense of security all within the hotel's interior. Overall, I feel Best Western delivered at the Pony Solider Inn. Upon arriving, I noticed that this location had controlled access into the main lobby from the front outside driveway during all hours of the day (i.e.: Only guests or those with business with the hotel were allowed inside 24/7). Guests used their room keys to activate the automatic sliding doors; those checking in or doing business with the hotel would ring the doorbell for assistance. That assured me that the interior was safe and secure, and that all guest-designated areas of the hotel like the pool, dining room, restrooms, and the mini-gym were used only by guests. I've booked this location third-party, prepaid, and the check-in process went smoothly. Font desk staff was friendly. They verified my identity with the reservation and collected my credit card info only for incidentals. They gave me a choice of which floor I preferred (I selected upper level for better window views). The large open lobby also had a large mini-"grand" staircase linking the two floors from the front desk. Next to it was the elevator that appeared to have been recently renovated and modernized. I stayed at this Pony Soldier Inn during the middle of the week and nothing too much was happening in the local area; thus the hotel was not crowded and there was lots of space in the commons areas. The sound insulation of the building appeared to be well done despite the fact that the hotel was close to PDX airport and next to a freeway; I did not hear the sounds of any aircraft flying overhead nor did the sounds of cars from the freeway negate the overall hotel environment. I did have my room fan running overnight as white-noise to further help muffle outside noise but the building's sound insulation as it was was already great. Room and hotel was clean. Directly next door is an Elmer's Restaurant that I used for evening grub. There were a number of gas station convenience stores within walking distance. I've always liked how Best Western offers a free hot breakfast in the morning. I've enjoyed a nice dish of country fried steak and gravy after my first night. The hotel's pool and spa was situated in the landscaped atrium of the property; the hotel building surrounding the pool efficiently blocked the noise pollution from the freeway. The only noise I heard during my time in the pool were the birds singing in the trees. This location also offered free shuttle service to PDX airport and staff explained to me how the shuttle worked when I checked in. I was advised to book the van the day prior and to arrive about 5 minutes before scheduled departure to check out and be ready. On departure day, there was a group of three of us waiting in the lobby who needed a ride. It appeared the actual shuttle van was not in use when I departed but the hotel graciously booked each of us a complementary taxi ride to the airport; the 3 cabs all arrived on time. I had a friendly conversation with my cab driver on the way to PDX. As I mentioned, Best Western delivered for me with my stay at the Pony Soldier Inn. I would certainly recommend this location for Portland visitors utilizing PDX.

We arrived after midnight, but the staff was expecting us. We were quickly registered and located our room. Seven hours later, we stumbled down for a hot breakfast and were on our way. Given our short stay, this hotel was perfect!

I like BW's. The staff here is great, free breakfast.. Bed's are a little tough, but it's a hotel right? The location is great if you need to be close to the airport and freeway. My only comment on my rating of 3/5 is that it's in Portland and they don't care about their city. This site's front doors are locked 24/7, and we were strongly advised to not leave anything in our vehicle overnight. We've been to Portland many times over the years. This isn't a bad neighborhood... I'll leave it at that.

the soldier pony motel in portland oregon is a great, very reasonable and price-friendly best western facility. the staff is very courteous and all the amenities operate fine. i would recommend this location to anyone staying in portland.

Great place to stay,the view from our window wasn't that great, but we just closed the curtains and forgot about the ugly view. The hours for the breakfast was actually decent the breakfast a tad bit cold, overall there was a variety to choose from. Easy access to the freeway

We've stayed here before and we'll most likely stay here again! We had the king suite and the jet tub which was great after a long day. Breakfast was great too! All was well with the exception of the evening desk clerk which we felt was a little unprofessional and rude.

Always welcomed when we arrive with hugs. we stay here when we Drs. appointments and visit with friends nearby. Best place to stay in Portland as far as we are concerned and never think of going anywhere else.

I have stayed at this particular hotel over the years and have always enjoyed staying here, the quality of the breakfast's has improved immensely, the location is convenient to most destinations in the Portland area. We feel safe here, and have had no problems.

This hotel is located about 5 minutes from the airport. The room was large and clean. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The pool was large and clean. The only drawback was the lack of restaurants within walking distance for dinner.

This was not a terrible place to stay, but given the price I would have expected a bit more. The good: The staff was friendly and helpful. The laundry was nice as they have 2 rooms, each with a locked door, so you ask for a key and then you can go relax in your room or by the pool or something while your stuff washes/dries without worrying about it being stolen. The breakfast was decent and had a fair number of options (sweet and savory, lighter and heavier). The ok: The room was mostly clean, but they clearly didn't clean under the desk as there was a bottle cap and food residue plainly visible when I pulled out the chair, and some previous occupant's food was still in the fridge as well. The not so great: This is a very sketchy neighborhood. They keep the lobby doors locked at all times and tell you to park in front to avoid your vehicle being broken into. The gas station across the street seemed to be the place for the locals to hang out/get high, and there was a giant chaotic trailer park (mostly RVs rather than mobile homes, all jumbled together rather than on nice lots) right behind the motel. I didn't feel unsafe while on the property, but I definitely worried about my rental car overnight.

This is my fifth or so stay at this Best Western. We found it and return to it because of the proximity to our reason for being in Portland. Also it is comfortable at a reasonable price. This time we didn't have breakfast but in the past we found it to be very good. Check-in and -out went smoothly. The Sunday night person was harried as she was alone and there was much to do. There were plentiful luggage carts up front which I appreciated.

The location of this Best Western is great, just wish better parking for Harley's though. They did let me park close to the building, but just not quite enough room to get into my bags easily. But I was able to and I felt it was safe were it was.

I stayed with my kids so we could catch an early flight. I was needing a shuttle and breakfast as we would be short on time. This hotel is in the ghetto and the lobby doors being locked 24/7 only confirmed that. Check in was horrible as the attendant was not pleasant at all. The hotel smelled horrible, I ended up seeing a room on the first floor that had several blowers set up trying to dry it out from an obvious water leak. The musty smell was overwhelming to say the least. The common areas were very warm, they even had the window open and a box fan at the front desk. My room was nasty, I mean a black tub and filthy mirrors. I even found trash under one of the beds. We did not get “breakfast” as advertised. We were given a paper sack with room temperature yogurt, water, frozen muffin and an over ripe banana. The shuttle however was reliable so we had no issues getting to the airport.

The Hotel was conveniently located for sightseeing and getting around the area. It was clean and staff were pleasant. They offered a Hot breakfast buffet that is the largest I have seen to date. The check in clerk Belinda was pleasant and efficient. She helped us plan a couple of sightseeing tours we wouldn't have planned. Great hospitality to visitors. I would definitely visit again.

Not bad for the price, should perhaps go down by $15 a night due to security issues (bad neighborhood) and terrible view of a trailer park, rooms that smell of dog and cigarettes. However, the bed was comfortable, staff got us into a room that didn't smell, staff was tired and a bit grumpy but who wouldn't be working there, they do tell you to park out front so your car isn't broken into and tell you there is an issue with security. Pool was fun and clean. Breakfast hot and good. Clean hotel.

Stayed 3 nights in 3 rooms - Not because I wanted too. Because I had to! If you stay here, bring batteries, a plunger, a working tv remote and your cleaning supplies. Oh yeah, don't forget your earplugs!

Need to fly out of PDX early in the morning? These lovely people will provide you with a delicious breakfast, tasty, wake-you-up coffee, and a van ride to the airport! Have a minute? Take a dip in the outdoor pool! A great little find to make our next exit from Oregon easy-peasy. The staff are super nice and helpful. Real people. Thank you!

Conveniently located near 205 and 84 freeways and close to airport. Always clean, safe and quiet, friendly and attentive staff, comfortable rooms. Big breakfast area, nice outdoor pool. Elmers restaurant next door.

The hotel was very nice with a great pool and wonderful breakfast. Hotel is located very close to freeway access and is an easy choice for our family when we travel to Portland. I would recommend to my friends and family.

When we arrived the toilet bowl wasn't clean properly with some pee stain on it. the toilet flushing system seems to be leaking as water runs to the toilet bowl and flushes when it gets to a certain level which is annoying when your sleeping in the night. bathtub drainage seems to be clogged as water builds up when taking shower.

Close to I-205 - easy access off and on the freeway free breakfast and parking which the last hotel did not offer very amenable staff and courteous the last hotel I stayed in Portland was inconvenient to get in and out of and the staff were rather rude at times, like they were doing YOU a favor

This motel is clean and the location is super convenient to the airport and the city of Portland. There is a pool and a hot tub outside. We stayed in room 156 - it had a two burner stove but no pots and pans or dishes. The grounds were attractive and we really liked the small deck outside our room that overlooked the pool. Elmer's Restaurant is right next door and we walked over for a great dinner.

Great staff, they kept an eye on my truck and alerted me of potential problems. They kept the battery from being stolen out of the van I was towing. They registered me for the rewards program and saved me a few dollars on my stay.

My room had cobwebs on the ceiling. And the blinds wouldn't stay shut without me mcgyvering something together. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good. Kids loved the pool. Needs more signs/areas to take the pets. Overall stay wasn't to bad, we felt safe and service was friendly.

The hotel is clean, friendly, and comfortable. Our receptionist, Amy, went out of her way to help us with local information, was so pleasant, welcoming, and friendly. This is where we will return on visits to Portland.

Needed AC during early heatwave of the year. Stayed close to home. Enjoyed the deep jacuzzi tubs in the bathroom. Nice variety of breakfast items. Has a outdoor pool and spa. Lobby front doors required room key for access due to the homeless population in area. This made for a safe environment for guests having the added security. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Rooms were spacious.

We have a yorkie and therefore stayed in a "pet friendly" room. It was a small section of rooms separated from the rest of the hotel in a dungeon like setting - we felt separated from the otherwise niceties of the establishment. Both entrances to the pet rooms were littered with trash and an overflowing trash bin of dog poo bags that did not get emptied our ENTIRE 3 night stay even after we pointed it out twice (and again upon checkout). The trash and poo also attracted additional flies to the area and it was simply gross to have to walk through to get to our room. We were told the room rate could only be adjusted by the manager and he wasn't in until Monday when we left. We did speak to him on the way out to inform him of our dissatisfaction. We were not offered any rate reduction or other compensation for the room price (which was about $100 MORE than listed on the confirmation due to non disclosure of the daily pet fee in the booking price that did include the taxes). Our room was dark, walls were dirty, the chair was so stained and full of pet hair that we didn't want to touch it let alone sit in it. Our view from the window was a chain link fence with slats topped by a large barbed wire rings around the top not unlike a prison - for our safety no doubt, however it was a very scary sight to see that it was the only thing between the hotel and the adjacent encampment. The homeless issue has gotten so bad that the hotel front door is kept locked at all times - you have to ring the bell to enter. Again for our safety but did not make us feel very comfortable. Had we not had trouble finding alternative accommodations we would not have stayed past the first 5 minutes. We did use the hot tub but there was a sign on the fence indicating the pool was closed - not sure if this was the case or if it was simply left up in error since other guests were using the pool. The pool did not look like it was ready for swimmers. The staff was nice and breakfast was great however NOTHING was done after telling the front desk twice about the trash and flies and overflowing poop. It would have taken 5 minutes for the desk staff to take care of it - apparently the maintenance person had taken the weekend off but that seems like a very poor excuse to not have someone ANYONE empty a trash bin full of dog poo bags. If we had not had our pup with us and stayed in a "regular" room we would have likely had a much nicer experience and stay.

I am currently staying at the hotel which has horrible service. Before booking the reservation I asked if we could get a late check out. I asked again yesterday at checkin was told both times not a problem. This morning Sean at the desk refused for just a noon check out saying they gave a tour bus coming they do not care about current customer service. When I asked for the managers name I was not given an email he then claimed he went to text Laura the manager and she refused to provide this info as well. I was not here even 14 hours and they were glad to take my money. I am going to reach out to best western corporate. Worst service by front desk and getting a manager.

Always treated as family by management and staff. Close to all our Drs. appointments, places to dine and visit friends in the area. Easy to get to from highway and surface roads. Breakfast is always good with plenty to choose from.

This is a pretty good hotel with caring staff. Everything is clean. I really liked how it is located near the airport & by the MAX which is within walking distance. The only thing I am dinging this hotel on are the TV remotes in the rooms. The TV remotes were absolutely terrible to use because the buttons were slow to respond to the channels I wanted to watch. Other than that it was a great stay & will definitely consider staying at this hotel again the next time I am in Portland.

Nice facility in good shape but the area is sketchy. Drug users in and out of the hotel and parking lot. I booked a "pet accommodating room" from a 3rd party site and then was slapped with another $35 per night "pet fee" plus deposit. I thought that the "pet fee" would have been included in booking a pet specific room. Nice room with awesome pet friendly vinyl plank floor, but wasn't cleaned well. They served a variety of hot food at breakfast (eggs, potatoes and breakfast meats) plus an array of other foods which was nice.

In Portland for one night and the hotel did not disappoint. Karen at the front desk was a gem! Room was clean, bathroom was stocked with plenty of towels, hot tub was amazing, bed was comfortable, and breakfast topped it off. Dining area was clean, comfortable and lots of choices. I am not familiar with the neighborhood however I felt safe, close to the highway and airport. Would stay again.

Fairly easy access, although some barricades were still around from disturbances. Even though our room was on the first floor, our access to the parking lot was down stairs (or long walk from the front door). Quiet.

This hotel is one of the best I've stayed in this past year. The staff is the friendliest & knowledgeable. The cleaning staff was just as friendly & do an excellent job. When I called the hotel for a shuttle pick, they took only 15-20mins to arrive.

One of the light in the entrance was not working; reported this to the front desk next day morning. The lady made a note but nothing was done. The light bulb was never replaced, nor did we have any housekeeping service during our 3-day stays. The water was only lukewarm in the first 2 nights. The front desk personnel were not very welcoming. When we returned to the hotel at night, the front desk lady did not even look at us or greet us. None of them were really friendly at all. On 5/1, when we were on our way out of the hotel, I saw the house keeping lady making the room on the opposite side of one of the rooms. I informed her that we were leaving our room now and she could do the housekeeping for our room 219. She acknowledged my request; but when we returned that night, nothing was done in our room. We were out of the big towels, toilet paper and trash cans were full. When I went down to tell the front desk. She said she did not have any big towels. However, she did return to our room in a very short moment to bring us the big towels and toilet paper. After we checked out on 5/3/2022, we got billed for $200 for a small crack in the restroom mirror. I called the manager, Laura, to protest the charges as I told her that we all saw a small crack in the mirror when we checked in the fist night. To her credit, Laura had initialed a refund back to my credit card account right away.

I arrived and was met with very helpful and friendly staff. I was a bit skeptical about the front door being secured during business hours but the staff explained the reason why they keep it locked (unwanted homeless individuals) which made sense, The rooms were very spacious and clean, the hotel was very nice and had plenty of parking. The bfast was delicious and plenty of it. There were several points if entry and they were all safe and secured. The pool was closed due to the weather but the hot tub was open. I enjoined my stay here and would definitely would stay here and would strongly recommend this hotel.

Room was hot even with air dropped down to 60.. Also the AC is cycles completely off and on so if you are a light sleeper this may be an issue Beds were hard as concrete.. Very uncomfortable night and sore back the next morning. Pillows didn't help either. The only positive thing I can say about this play is the night staff was very friendly and helpful but the condition of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. Neighborhood was borderline ghetto. There is no bed spread or blanket, just another sheet used as a bedspread. Pay more and get a better hotel.

We stayed for just a quick overnight to get to a very early morning flight at PDX. The area is a little sketch, but it turned out to be a great experience. Quiet room, comfy bed, friendly welcome, hot breakfast. Easy parking. Good price. 6 minutes to the airport without traffic, 15 minutes during rush hour. Can't beat it.

Spoke with front desk checking in for a wakeup call and to confirm shuttle times. Was told a 'radio cab' would be performing the first trip to the airport at 4:00 am. Thanked the front desk person and felt we were fine. Arrived at the front desk at ten minutes before 4 to go to the airport. After waiting in vain, finally was able to get an Uber to the airport at 4:35. Missed flight. Hotels.com clearly stated that hotel had 'shuttle service' to airport. Rooms ok, property seemed clean, check-in staff were friendly.

Great breakfast with a lot of variety. Clean room. Friendly and courteous staff. It was a little tricky to drive into due to the road exchange of three diverging highways. There were lots of eating establishments around. We especially liked Jersey Mike's.

This Inn is consistently efficient, clean, and a good value. Nothing noteworthy happened. We had not before stayed in the 100 wing just off the front desk - it wasn't different. Everything was as it should be and we got a good night's sleep.

I don't ever do reviews. But my stay here was actually welcoming and the staff were nice. Although stepping into the room I instantly saw how messy/dirty it was all around. Including the second room they tried upgrading me up too.

Quiet and spacious rooms with caring staff. Great amenities and facility. Easy access to all attractions . Safe area and clean part of town. Great area for family with no worries of safety, clean exterior and interior.

This was the first time for me at this Inn though I usually stay at Best Western. I had a handicapped room with easy access to both the room (the door didn't keep slamming in my face in my wheelchair) and into the bathroom. The shower was roomy, easy access - nothing to step up or down on. The rooms were clean with many plugs, especially near the bed (I use a C-PAP and a computer and charge my phone) which I have in other places had trouble with. The Internet was fast. Did not check out the microwave, though it was there, along with coffee and a coffee maker. My daughter and son-in-law were with me in the room across the hall so easy access to each other. The staff was helpful, ensuring I knew when breakfast was, where to park and so on. The breakfast was a full, cooked to order, breakfast - eggs, sausage, bacon, two juices, milk, coffee, I think tea, waffles and several cereals. The cook also served us at our table. All staff were pleasant.

Staff attentive and friendly. Room in excellent condition and well maintained. Ease of check in/out. Breakfast area excellent in the early hours I needed coffee, juice and muffin at 0545. We may well be staying here again..

I don't like/ have never taken the time to do hotel reviews but this time I have to. Great hotel with great location near highway, gas stations and breakfast/eating places. This is the second time we stay in this hotel and will definitely stay there again.

Always stay here and are treated as family by all the staff, especially our Sable Ann who is the hit of everyone, staff and guest alike. Sable runs around introducing herself to one and all to get petted and fussed over.

It was a very nice hotel, it is a pain though until you get your key. The reason is, because of the homeless they have to have the door locked. But once you get your key, you can open it yourself. It takes them a bit to walk to the door and open it for you. There should be a buzzer or remote so it can open faster.

Located by a highway onramp in an industrial area. Looked out on parking lot with large dumpster. Covid protocols are understandable, but often no one even said hello when we entered or left the building, though some people at the desk were personable and helpful. Breakfast wasn't very good. The beds were nice, but the room seemed cramped and was overpriced. It's next to very good restaurant that's open all day. We spent a disappointing week. For a night before or after a flight, it would have been okay.

My stay was excellent from the start to end front desk staff Amy was amazing.Connie who checked me out and drove the shuttle to the airport was kind and efficient. The room was clean and very comfortable. Wifi was strong-overall stay was very satisfying

We were offered early check in which we appreciated after a red eye flight. The staff were super friendly throughout the stay. The hotel was overall very clean and well-maintained and we would definitely come back.

I stayed here with my fiance and daughter following a concert. Strong odor upon entering room. Noticed a chunk of long hair attached to blow dryer hanging on wall.. when I entered bathroom. Didn't touch it. Air-dryed our hair. Found peanuts on carpet beside bed. We were hungry after coming in late.. but not that hungry. Vending machine had only soda, but almost all options were out. Worst of all was the numerous hairs IN our breakfast.. biscuits and gravy. And on plates! I almost threw up when discovering the hair situation and the full extent of it! The scrambled eggs were half raw. But, again the hair was absolutely the worst food experience I've ever had at a hotel. Fiance brought this to the attention of lady at front desk at check out. She said employees just don't care, because if they get fired, they'll collect unemployment. Best advice: do not eat here!! Better yet, stay elsewhere.

On our second visit to Best Western Pony Soldier we found the rooms clean, quiet, and spacious but it felt rather petty to be charged an extra $20.00 for an early (by several hours) check-in. Our room was ready when we arrived and nothing extra had to be done on our behalf, so perhaps this is the hotel's way to recoup some pandemic losses. On our nearly 3 week trip around OR and WA we checked in early at several hotels, not a single one charged us extra! As a platinum BW rewards member, I wonder if I should direct my loyalty elsewhere since it doesn't seem to be valued at Best Western.

Very nice room, GREAT value for the rate! Friendly efficient employees, free airport shuttle! It is unfortunate that the Portland area has been apparently over run by a homeless population - meaning going for a walk out the hotel was NOT a great idea - but that is not best Western's fault! I felt safe inside and around the amenities… Slept like a baby and was on my was! Recommend as a great “airport” hotel!

Arrived after midnight for short night stay prior to return flight. I selected this Best Western based upon: A. Medical provider discount B. Near PDX C. Free breakfast D. Reviews of cleanliness and quiet Great to say all above were very good! Room was clean, roomy and comfortable…sounds of the nearby tram sort of surprised me, but not an issue. Had called desk upon arriving in PDX at 2300 I would not arrive until after medical delivery was made, estimated 0100 arrival. Team was welcoming, recognizing my BW status..gave me a nice large room on the quiet back side. Breakfast was a treat…made to order tater tots, biscuit with gravy, and sausage…super! Very pleased with this stay! You don't have to stay in an InterContinental or Radisson Blu every time…especially when you arrive late and leave early! Great job BW Pony Soldier Inn!!!!

Our stay was wonderful. We got in about 8 pm and left early the next morning to catch a 6 am flight. The hotel was close to PDX, the grounds were maintained well and the pool looked beautiful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and the little patio outside our room was adorable. We will be back next time we fly out of PDX. :)

If you like dealing with low class people and staying in a low class place choose this place. The exterior looks great and has super nice curb appeal. However the staff is lacking in customer service skills and the lobby has mattresses leaning against the wall (Looks like storage for replacing beds)...

We were to meet with our niece in this area of Portland so I had searched for BW nearby. We chose this one because it was near The Grotto and we thought we might visit it and also for the relatively reasonable room rate. The motel was easy to find, had plentiful parking, was clean inside and out. The front desk person was helpful in applying a BW travel card and efficient at getting us checked in. Our room looked like most other BW rooms - a little narrower and like others needs more light (e.g. a floor lamp would be nice). The beds were comfortable, A/C worked very well, and although near busy roads we were not disturbed by outside noise. Internet worked well, never failed. We enjoyed breakfast - having the same buffet items but with a server to tray them was a very good idea, much better than the bagged breakfast sandwiches we once encountered. The food was well prepared. The decaf coffee was so-so - I blended with regular coffee and it was good.

We had a really nice stay. The pool and hot tub were a hit for my nieces. The breakfast was pretty good as well. The only thing i didn't like were the pillows. They were way to puffy i couldn't even use them.

This Beat Western is conveniently located to I-205 and I-84. The hotel is very clean. The employees that were encountered were very nice and helpful. The room was very clean and everything was in working order. The area is kind of sketchy, but it is Portland. While we were out front we were approached by 3 different homeless men each asking for something. I never felt unsafe as the hotel has all doors locked and you must use your key card to get in ( including the main door). There is an Elmers Restaurant next door that serves good food. The hotel was kind of pricey for the area.

The Pony staff were exceptional in taking care of all our needs. We had a pickup problem that they went out of their way to accommodate. They certainly did a very good job working around covid limitations.

Beautiful hotel, nice exterior, reception area and room, that's where it ends. I can't imagine what went through the minds of those who built this hotel... Hey here's the noisiest spot in Portland, let's put a beautiful hotel here that no normal person will be able to sleep in. Really even with ear plugs with a 33dcb noise reduction we could not sleep. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, wish that we had.

Convient and easy access to PDX airport, Interstate 205 and Interstate 84. Clean and safe accommodations with good sized rooms. Nice pool in the courtyard, exercise room, sauna. Friendly and helpful staff

My husband and I stayed at the hotel on one of the days that Portland was experiencing a heat wave. The pool was clean and a refreshing way to beat the heat. The air conditioning in the room worked great. the room was clean and the breakfast in the morning was more than I expected.

needed to be near the airport for an early flight on Saturday so stayed at the Best Western Pony Soldier and enjoyed the pool and friendly staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend this hotel and staff if you are ever in Portland

This place is in a sleazy area. It's close to the 205 and noisy. The front desk person had the personality of a gnat. I booked the room paid my fees then they jacked it up for parking and the shuttle to the airport. The previous hotels give you the fee upfront. I felt it was bait and switch. The room was clean.

Front desk staff was excellent. Rooms seem a bit musky, could use updating. This is a perfect airport hotel though. Clean. Got good sleep. Felt safe. Good decent bag breakfast. A perfect stay after long late flight.

This is one of the worst places I have ever stayed. A $200 deposit that was not released for 6 days. Also, when I went to check out, they ran up to my room to see if everything was OK before I could check out. You have to ask for their "grab and go bag" and then you have to make a choice of what you get. And you get very little. The place was clean and otherwise OK. Checking in was fine but checking was terrible.

We have to stay in Portland a minimum of one night and sometimes 2 for my wife's eye treatments and always stay at pony Soldier Inn, where we have been treated as family since our very first stay. The ladies always take good care of our needs and the housekeeping folks are great.

If this hotel isn't haunted, people have died on the premises. There is a huge crackhead presence and the noice kept me from sleeping all night or day. No noise cancellation features or safety precautions. Door wouldn't fully shut.

Needed to book due to wildfires. I was only here one night prior to flight out. I chose this BW due to reviews and distance to car rental return. I had an excellent experience. The pens,true, were for general use, right next to the hand sanitizer. I, too would not walk around the area, however, in an ajoining lot is an Elmers eatery. I would not leave valuables of any kind at any hotel, not just this one. I had express checkout. One box for room key and one for key sleeve, at the front desk. Both the front desk ladies were friendly. Yes, the breakfast was only a few items, however, with Covid, you have to make concessions. My room was very clean, though the sink needed repair. The rug clean enough to go barefoot, though I never do. I would certainly stay here again.

We stayed a few nights at this hotel due while we were evacuated due to a wildfire. I was not impressed. Front desk check in staff were rude. Yes I understand they were short staffed and weren't expecting a full house at the last minute but it's not a good excuse for poor customer service. The person working the day shift at the front desk was polite though. They don't appear to be taking Covid seriously. At check in they are just passing pens from guest to guest. Check out is the same. You would think they could offer some sort of express service, at the very least for check out where you just leave the keys in the room. The room didn't appear clean. The microwave and bathroom both were not clean. There's not supposed to be any room service but the first morning we had a housekeeper knocking on our door without a mask to ask if we needed anything. I put the do not disturb sign up after that. They said to leave dirty towels outside your door and they will leave a bag with fresh towels. I left the dirty towels out on our second day and they took them but did not leave new towels. They offer a grab and go breakfast but all you will get is a bottle of water, piece of fruit and granola bar. I would get breakfast elsewhere. The neighborhood is not good. Do not leave valuables in your car. I also would not walk around in this neighborhood at night.

the room was surprisingly quiet considering the location was a very busy area. The staff were friendly and nice. They actually gave a choice of fruit in breakfast bag. They were freshly made so fruit was cool and fresh. One hotel we stayed at had the bags sitting out and we got a rotting orange. Rooms were very clean.

We chose BW Pony Soldier Inn - Airport for its convenient location for early flight departure and was surprised at every other aspect......VERY GOOD CHOICE! The room was very comfortable and well equipped. Check in and out was very smooth

We visited this hotel last minute during COVID. They had our reservation waiting and Belinda gave fantastic customer service! Only issue was the "go bags" for breakfast. I know they're not able to give hot breakfast during the pandemic but the go bag contained a piece of fruit, a tiny chewy granola bar and a bottle of Costco water. No juice, no breakfast pastries, nothing! Could definitely do better there. Overall the property was large and the room was big and comfortable. Convenient to restaurants and there's a dispensary across the street.

Conveniently located close to the airport, which is not the best part of town. But, the hotel itself was clean, the staff helpful, and the water pressure in bathroom was fantastic. Our flight arrived late at night. This was the most convenient, lowest priced hotel within a short distance from the airport .

Have been staying here for 4 years on a regular basis and have been treated like family from the start. they are under staffed due to virus ad doing the best they can along with renovating lobby. the manager and on duty staff are still making us feel at home and trying to keep up with the service.

Super Clean. Comfy. Friendly staff. Even an off leash dog area which My dogs loved! Easy, quick airport access. The lobby was getting new (very nice) flooring. The workers were quiet and courteous so it did not interfere in any way

We really enjoyed this hotel. Nice breakfast variety. Comfy bed and a very spacious room. Close enough to Columbia River Gorge. Would recommend. Hotel was remodeling the front lobby, but everything remained clean. Staff was also super friendly.

Wonderful staff experience Belinda was helpful and sensitive to our needs. We needed a place to visit with out of town family so we opted for the Pony Soldier Inn. Suite was clean it was a lovely place for visiting with out of town family and having an Elmer's Restaurant right next door was great. Thank you!

First time I stayed in June 2019, I had to wait nearly an hour for the shuttle to pick me up. Second time, no one to drive the shuttle, so they sent a cab. The staff is very friendly,I especially liked Sarah .Due to renovations, the lobby is a noisy mess and the breakfast room's cleanliness suffered. I did not feel safe walking to the mini-market down the block, kind of a rough neighborhood.

We had to have a handicap accessible room. The carpets were wet from being shampooed. the room had a marijuana bong water stink SO BAD that I had to keep essential oils going all the time to breath. They had no other accessible rooms to move us to. They did not offer a discount, no way to take the smell out. The shower is next to the toilet with no curtain so the toilet gets wet when you shower. The clothes hand in the bathroom for the closet, so they get damp and stay damp the whole time you are staying in the room. When we repeatedly complained about the smell they just said 'sorry' and did not offer anything else to compensate for the experience. I hate the smell of 'skunk butt' weed. It makes it difficult to breath and I have to use my inhaler, I told the front desk this and all we got was 'sorry', no other offer. They should not have rented the room out in this condition and we would have paid a premium rate to move to another hotel last minute. I expect more of Best Western, I am a platinum member. This was awful. Also, they added a charge of $10 per person after we had booked the room online. I had called in to add my friend's name so she could check in before I got there. The owner of this particular hotel does NOT serve the baked cookies at 4pm, so if you are looking for the Best Western service you get at every other Best Western, you will NOT get it here. Stay somewhere else.

Place was great overall. The only issue I had was the fact that the other Best Western, which is less than 10 minutes away,is quite a bit cheaper than this one. The reason why I stayed at this one, however, was because I was using a temporary card, which doesn't have one's name on it, and the other Best Western said they couldn't accept it.

Every winter we make an annual trip to Portland. We love the shopping, The Grotto and the excitement of Portland. We always stay at The Pony Soldier because of the location and price. The staff is always courteous.

I had a park-sleep-fly reservation. The check in and room were fine. The shuttle to the airport was fine. The problem came when we returned as scheduled. I called the hotel for pick up by the shuttle. For an unexplained reason, the shuttle wasn't running.. They said the would send a Radio Cab. After 30 minutes in the cold and rain, I called again. The Cab had gone to the hotel instead of the airport. Another 15 minutes and we finally got picked up. No real explanation offered

Was greeted by a sweet lady at the front desk. Even given a room upgrade, when she learned I was up for my dads burial. They had fresh baked cookies which was nice to fall asleep with. lol the room was large and the hotel was quite. I had a king facing the courtyard. Looked very nice. I slept well, bed was comfortable. Pillows were a bit too puffy for me tho. Would have been nice to offer foam and down alternative in each room. However, I slept great. Also next door is Elmers restaurant. You must go! I had some of the best German pancakes ever! The hotel is a fast 8 min away. And some shopping is near by there. I would always try and book a Best Western first. They really have stepped up they're game.

High quality room with plenty of space. Everything was clean and worked just fine. Two clocks in the room helped me keep an eye on the time but did not interfere by being too bright at night. Just the right amount of ambient night light. Had a great breakfast experience with high quality fresh food choices. Easy parking, fast check-in and check-out. The lobby was first class with a nice open feeling where I was comfortable meeting with other associates.

Can't beat the location so close to the airport. The night staff was so friendly and worked with me to make sure I had the best stay possible. Couldn't be happier with them. Another 5 star best western stay!

I have stayed at the Pony Soldier several times. Clean and quiet. Pride of ownership. Never a disappointment. If breakfast is your thing; the selection here is very good. No need to look elsewhere for lodging.

Was easy to find the hotel, right off the freeway but not so close that it's noisy. Each staff member I encountered was very helpful and friendly. The check in process was quick, the room was decent, and the checkout was also very quick. There is a restaurant right across the parking lot. I had an early flight and their shuttle service was ready and waiting for me when I got there. I would definitely stay there again if the need arises.

Location and amenities superb, very accessible to major freeways and airport. If you're going to Columbia Gorge area (Multnomah falls, etc) it's the best area so you don't have to deal with the downtown craze. Staff is very friendly and helpful especially Sarah who's very dynamic and smart. Plenty of parking, internet and breakfast is also as always included. Enjoyed our weekend stay highly recommended!

Easy access to the airport, and Hwy 205 which is a direct I-5 connection north/south. Always reliable B.W. amenities/value. I've stayed here repeatedly over the past decade, and will continue to do so.

Best Western is fast becoming my go-to choice of hotels. They are consistently clean and comfortable. Only downside to this location was that the pool and free breakfast buffet were across the parking lot in a separate building.

Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, location to airport was good. Belinda was extremely helpful with transportation from the airport. I would definitely stay at this Best Western again. General manager went out of her way to help me with computer programs.

Stayed here October 10 2019 to catch an early morning flight to PDX. The entrance is beautiful and the desk staff friendly and helpful. Our room was on the ground floor that had patio doors onto the courtyard/pool area and it was nice to sit in the sun and unwind in peaceful surroundings despite it being by the airport. Like most Best Westerns where we have stayed, the room was a little outdated but offered everything we needed and best of all..it was quiet!! The breakfast was really good. The shuttle driver was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again and highly recommend it.

The room was nice and clean, with attractive furnishings. The breakfast was excellent! I also appreciated the computer in the lobby, and the sunken room below it. I found the staff friendly and helpful. All in all, a fine experience, especially considering I came for such a humdrum occasion as a medical exam.

Easy access to various shopping areas in preparation to taking my son to college. Rooms are very spacious, wifi easy to connect to and breakfast buffet plentiful. My son especially enjoyed making is own waffle!

We recently stayed at the Pony Soldier Inn and we so impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff! Rooms were clean. Kathy who does the breakfasts was able to let me know what I could safely eat (I have celiac disease) shuttles to and from the airport were efficient. In an era where lackadaisical service can be common, this hotel is a bright ray of sunshine! I sure hope management appreciates this stellar staff!

This hotel is close to the airport and the staff is helpful and friendly. I could probably pay more for a room and get some extra luxuries, but why? The room was plenty comfortable and had everything I needed. The shuttle driver, front desk clerk, breakfast cook and everybody else I dealt with had a good attitude.

The day staff at this hotel was exceptional. We were a group of 8 people on vacation and the location of this hotel was just what we needed. The pool and hot tub came in handy after our long ride to get there, Their complementary airport shuttle came in handy as well.

Wrapping up a 3-day road trip in the Gorge. As always, when in this part of Portland, we stay here. Experience has shown us thta the rooms are always clean, room amenities work the way their supposed to, and the staff is always great.

We stayed there to pick up a new puppy at the airport. They have a shuttle that drops you off at the airport and pickes you up. The pool area was nice and the staff was very friendly. Our only problem with the hotel is the view from our window was so bad I couldn't stop laughing when I say the barbed wire just a few feet away. And there wasn't a table if you wanted to bring dinner back to the room. But the room was clean and it was nice that the floor was manufactured wood in case a pet has an accident.

I recently visited Portland, Oregon for a quick 1 night business trip. I chose the Best Western Pony Soldier Inn due to the vicinity to the airport. The room was surprisingly clean. Staff was accommodating with a last minute change (would have been more happy with an adjustment to my room rate due to this change). However, not much to report other than an easy, clean hotel.

Super stay; in fact my friend & I stayed an additional day. Very spacious room, great spa in the pool area, in walking distance to a great restaurant, Elmer's .. you must eat there. Reasonable rates and very friendly staff. Close to shopping areas. And a shuttle to take you to the airport and picked you up for the Max Train to Downtown Area. They were very happy to explain how the Max worked. They answered any questions you had and gave superb directions. Can't thank them enough for the wonderful trip we had. We flew to Portland and then drove down the PCH to Santa Barbara. It will be a memorable trip. Thank you to all of the gracious ladies that helped us.

Our room was spacious. We had plenty of nice towels and pillows, and the bed was very comfortable. The room, and the grounds were very clean. The whole place feels well cared for. Our room had a patio door thar opened onto our own sitting area with two chairs, facing the lovely courtyard, pool, and hot tub. What a peaceful, relaxing place, and so convenient to the airport.

We had a Great stay. It was convenient to airport and about 10 minutes from whole foods and stopped at the grotto on the way. Had cookies at night in the lobby. Had room 237. Faced a manufacturing something.

I chose this property based on its Trip Advisor ratings and they were accurate. It is very convenient to the Portland Airport, offers free Wi-Fi and free parking. The Breakfast was comprehensive in options. Hotel was very quiet.

Beautiful hotel with easy and quick access to airport. Grounds are well kept and everything is easy accessible. Enjoyed the outdoor pool and hot tub before bed to help relieve stress of traveling that day and would definitely stay again.

I have recently stayed at the Pony Soldier Inn Best Western and once again, had a great stay. All the staff that I have dealt with past has been very friendly and accommodating. I have stayed here on several occasions and have never had any issues. The facility is very clean, they have great amenities, the staff is incredible and the rooms are clean and comfortable. In the summertime, I suggest the poolside king suite. It has a nice sitting area, a kitchenette w/small dining table, spacious room, comfy King bed, patio with chairs and a sliding glass door. They have a nice gathering place outside to get your group all together at one time and enjoy the sun. It is reasonably priced and a great location near plenty of things to do and see in Portland. I Highly recommend this hotel.

Really clean... delivered a complimentary goodie bag for our 3:00 am check out.. to include yogurt, water, fresh fruit and a granola bar.. bath way too small...toilet too close to tub...military discount.

Convenient to the airport, friendly staff, very clean. The outside and inside of this hotel are very attractive. We really enjoyed the breakfast. Airport shuttle service invaluable. Will definitely use this hotel again.

Our last night in Portland returning from the coast and we wanted to be close to the airport. This is 10 minutes away! And the hotel was near some good restaurants. We ate at Mekha Restaurant on Sandy Blvd and enjoyed their Vietnamese and Cambodia cuisine.

Clean rooms and friendly staff make this a great place to stay. The beds are very comfortable and the staff to go out of their way to help any way they can. Our flight arrived late and they picked us up from the airport with minimal wait time

This Best Western is convenient to the airport, quiet and comfortable. The front desk staff is particularly cheerful and helpful, too. The lobby is quite elegant - unlike any I've seen at a Best Western.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel the night before we flew out of Portland. What a gem of a hotel. We were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and roominess of this hotel. It is a very busy place, so there was some noise but not enough to be bothersome to us. Breakfast options are great with plenty of seating. There is a big outdoor pool with a lovely yard area around it. I would definitely stay here again.

Warning!!!! Not stay here. We have had issues had multiple best westerns, however this best Western is the very worst of any BW I have stayed at. We were talked down to, decorated, argumentative belittled, Shown no empathy or kindness. There are no customer service skills at this location. No accommodations were made upon arrival or departure. My husband went to get ice when we arrive very late to get a few hours of sleep and housekeeping right around the corner from our room was using profanity especially the shown no empathy or kindness. This is a holographic story that can't even begin to go into details with the lack of room on this review!!!! Find somewhere else stay otherwise be prepared for zero customer service, zero accommodations, zero professionalism, and angry human beans do not belong there.

Very nice hotel. Kept up inside & out. The only blemish on our stay was that we were quoted one amount (for a pet fee) upon reservation, and charged another. When I phoned, I was told "that has happened before" & "we need to fix that". That said, they would NOT give me a refund. I called BWs Guest Relations, and they took care of it for me.

This hotel is close to major highways making travelling into Portland a breeze. It was clean, the staff very friendly and helpful and they provide breakfast with many options.The room was spacious and well lit. I wish they used actual plates and utensils though, not paper and plastic. It just seemed like such an unnecessary waste/a lot of extra trash that could easily be avoided. Make sure you don't get a room near the front desk... was woken up many many times by the super loud phone going off but other than that, it was a pleasant stay. I did not use them but they do have amenities like a gym, a pool and a hot tub. I am unsure of the quality and size of those though as I did not use them.

Very friendly staff. A spine injury over a year ago has caused me to need to sleep on a 3 inch foam mat, I forgot that a regular bed (though very comfy) would cause so much pain down my leg that I couldn't sleep. Connie came up with two super-thick mattress pads and made up a bed for me on the floor. How excellent is that?!

The breakfast is really good, serving omelettes and chicken fried steak as well as the other things you normally expect to see in a free breakfast layout. The rooms have recently been re-modeled and are nicely decorated. The jetted tubs in the suites are great for my 6' 1" frame.. They have a very nice inner court pool area that I look forward using when it soon opens. There is an Elmer's restaurant across the parking lot that has very good food and a reasonably priced prime rib meal. There is also a fuel station/gas'ngo about 300 or 400' away that has important stuff like a great selection of beer and snacks.. They really do have a good selection of beer in their walk-in cooler..

Fast, friendly service. New rooms are great! Our complements to the front desk. Ask them to make dinner reservations (or order a pizza) for you! They are the best. Good breakfast. Clean! try their park and fly option also!

If you read the title, what more could you ask for??? Oh yes, I forgot to mention the Pony Soldier has an outdoor pool, spa/hot tub, and breakfast, all at an excellent rate. Now, what more can you ask for then that. One more point, access to the 205 to the Airport is excellent as well as south bound, if you are so interested.

The location was very conceit for me, easy to find. The Inn has recently gone through an upgrade and they did a very nice job on it. would definitely stay here again. Staff was very eager to please!!!

This is the third time we have stayed here and it was excellent. Rooms are immaculate and very comfortable. Staff really nice. Breakfast was quite good and included omelets, burritos, sausages, waffles, plus all the usual cold items. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but the Elmer's next door is not bad. Another plus is the hotel is very easy to get to from many of the rental car sites. Would definitely stay again.

Front desk staff was very accommodating and helpful and went out of their way to help me out with some tea to help me feel better due to illness. Friendly and always acknowledged us when we left or returned for the day. Will definitely make this my hotel of choice while in Portland. Side note: blankets need to be updated--not that cozy or comfy

Look past the fact that the hotel is a little older than the one down the street. This hotel makes up for it in spades with the comfortable rooms and fantastic staff. The bed was outstanding. Room was very clean. Staff was second to none. I will choose this hotel over the bigger one down the street from now on.

No matter what time we arrive, our room is always ready. The staff treats us and our three service dogs as though we are members of their families. Christmas cards get well cards when they know one of is not well etc. Went out of their way to start my truck while we were gone to Calif. for 22 days.

Great place for the park & fly package, especially getting a ride to the airport at 4:00am. Lobby fireplace was awesome. would like to have tried breakfast in the lobby but had to leave too early. Perhaps next time.

Everyone and everything about this Best Western was great! Breakfast was a good variety of food. Rooms were clean and comfortable, all staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. There is a restaurant across the parking lot ‘Elmers' which staff recommended for lunch and was very good.

Our stay was excellent. We utilized the park n fly program. Robert was extremely helpful! Our room was very clean and enjoyable. They new we had to be at airport by 4 am & with park n ride they obtained a taxi and paid for it. awesome!

This hotel is always a good value. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Peanut butter cookies, not just chocolate! There's a restaurant next door which is very convenient. Parking is well lighted.

We were very satisfied with Best Western and stay at one if it is available in the town we are visiting. We have never had an issue that was not handled promptly. One place the pool was unavailable and they allowed us to go to a nearby hotel with a pool and made arrangements with the hotel for us to take our grandkids we were visiting with us.

The Pony Soldier Inn was the perfect place to stay for my daughter's wedding. We were able to book a block of rooms for our family and friends. The hotel was conveniently located half-way between the church and the airport which really cut down on our drive time. We were all able to eat yummy breakfasts at the hotel to start the day together. The entire staff was so kind and helpful, The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The cozy lobby was a great place for us to get together and talk. Free-WiFi and parking were also appreciated. It is the first hotel I have stayed at that has a collection of games and books for guests to use. The pool was closed but the hot tub was open and there is a sauna! This is our second time staying at this property and I would highly recommend.

The Pony Soldier Inn proved a good place to stay outside the downtown core in Portland. Located close to the airport and freeways with easy access into the city by car or transit suited our needs. Thought the airport might be a problem but our sleep was not disturbed. The room on the second floor was super clean, the staff friendly, and the hot breakfast a real stand out. Nothing to complain about here, good value for money if the location works for your needs.

We were in town to connect with our son who was back from the east coast for his college homecoming weekend. We needed a hotel close to the airport, reasonable cost and that would take dogs. The Pony Soldier clicked all three boxes. Just off hwy 205, minutes from the airport, easy to get to. I had made the reservation more than a month ago, but things changed between then and now. My mom passed away about 10 days prior, so now we had three dogs as we took her dog in. I was pretty stressed about this as some places have restrictive pet policies. I didn't know if I would have to sneak the dog in or sleep out in the car with it. I had to be truthful and told the desk person my situation. She offered condolences and said "of course your mom's dog is welcome as are yours!" . Wow weight off my shoulders. She was so nice about it. The room was nice and it held 4 humans and 3 dogs. We bring old sheets to put on top of the beds as our dogs like to hop up on the beds. We try really hard to be good guests as we appreciate hotels that allow our dogs to stay with us. The pool was closed for the season, but the hot tub was open and the other 3 humans used it for a fair amount of time. I just used that time to cuddle with my dogs. We got up at 6 (son was flying out early) and enjoyed a hot breakfast. Then napped some more. My wife just stated we will stay there again in the future. A nice place, and even nicer people. A good combination to find.

We were going to Portland to attend a weekend workshop. We booked an airbnb on the wrong dates and only noticed that on the day of checkin, so we cancelled the airbnb, drove to Portland, looked up hotels close to our workshop venue, found the Best Western Pony Soldier and drove there to see if we can get a room. We got there at around 6pm on a Friday night and needed a room for 3 people for 3 night. They were pretty booked but Rose at the front desk was super helpful and moved things around to get us the right room. We were happy with the price that ended up costing almost the same like the airbnb and moreover, it included great breakfasts by Kathy, with rich variety that made our tummies happy :) Room was clean with ok beds, air condition, microwave, fridge and coffee. No closet but a space to hang cloth and some drawers were enough for us. Sarah was super friendly at check out and all together this place exceeded our expectations and was a good place to stay for what we needed.

The pony soldier vest western is so close to everything that my friends and I enjoyed every little bit of it. The rooms where clean the staff was amazing the spa was awesome and the court yard was nice and clean.

Very Welcoming exterior and lobby entrance, easy to find and excellent restaurant next door. We needed a last minute reservation on the way home and this turned out to be an unexpected, perfect place to stay. I hesitated at first ,it being close to an international airport but it was very quiet.

Usually stay at another Best Western when I am in Portland. They did not have any rooms available for this trip. Instead of being off the I-5, I was off the 205. Easy access / egress; most pleasant and helpful staff; great beds; decent pool, spa, and work out room; breakfast provided lots of options, tasted good, and the staff were always available to satisfy customers and keep the area clean. Great experience. Would not hesitate to stay at the Pony Soldier in the future.

We stayed here three nights but will never stay again. Pros: Good location by airport Comfortable beds Semi quiet rooms except for the occasional train right behind the hotel and landing planes Cons: Entire hotel smells like smoke but rooms are especially bad They allow cats and dogs in rooms (bad for allergies) Tiny bathroom Surly breakfast staff and missing breakfast items all three mornings (milk, butter, sugar, oatmeal extras) Unresponsive management All three mornings we went to breakfast at 9:30 am (breakfast closed at 10am). Coffee was out on the first morning and on all mornings the milk containers were empty, no butter, no oatmeal extras (cranberries, brown sugar etc). The sweeteners are located in the lobby by the coffee. Nothing by the cereal or oatmeal in the breakfast area. Not good if you are in a rush for a flight. We asked for coffee and the same breakfast lady complained "every time I turn around there is a line". Then we asked her for milk by finding her in her prep room (a long walk as all doors were locked to the dining area) and she said "I'm trying to close everything down (25 minutes early). If you go get me a cup, I will get you some milk". There was no "I am sorry, let me get you some milk, butter, etc" just a surly, huffy response as if we were putting her out. We complained to the manager on the first morning and they said they would fix it. Not so. The same thing happened the following two mornings and we were not the only ones complaining. They said they would be contacting us but we never heard a thing. Our final morning I went to the management to ask for milk and butter because the breakfast lady was nowhere to be found. The manager pointed to the breakfast lady sweeping the lobby (what?? why wasn't she manning the breakfast area that needed restocking?) and just shrugged and indicated she was on the phone. No follow up from management. After three straight days of subpar service we wondered if management condones this behavior? doesn't care? Is too cheap to hire additional staff? Who knows, but if they cannot manage breakfast until 10am, change the hours and close at 9am. As a business owner for 20 plus years serving clients, this hotel needs major help in many areas, namely training their staff and management in basic customer service. We generally love Best Western. Not this one. Save yourself the exasperation and go elsewhere. We travel to Portland monthly and wanted to give this place a try. Never again.

We made the reservations online, so you never know what to expect, and when we pulled into the parking lot my first thoughts weren't all that positive. Not that the building looks bad, or neglected, it just looks older and dated on the outside. Inside the lobby however was quite nice, with tall windows looking out over the courtyard and pool, and the room was even better. The room was very nicely updated, well appointed and had a comfortable bed. The hotel is right next to the highway, but our room was away from the highway side so there was little noise to be heard. Also, the hotel is right beside the I205 multi use path, a nice place to go for a run before dinner. It's quite close to the airport, but a ways from the downtown area, so an Uber or cab will cost a bit more if you're going that way.

We stayed at this Best Western for two nights and can thoroughly recommend it. We had a nice quiet room on the second floor overlooking the pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. We went to Elmers next door one evening, which was good, and a Vietnamese the second day, which was less so. The hotel is close to the light rail station for easy access to Portland ($5 for a day ticket). We didn't actually enjoy Portland that much I'm afraid but can hardly blame the Pony Soldier Inn for that! Thank you for making us Brits feel so welcome.

I booked this hotel because it was near the airport, highway and easy drive to my high school reunion in Washington. The parking and exterior were not too enticing but inside it is clean, quiet, and Best Western décor. My room was on the 2nd floor, overlooking the courtyard/pool. The A/C worked fine and I was able to turn the fan down to low. The bed was comfortable and I was able to get a good night's sleep. The bathroom is smaller than I am used to and the closet had not doors on it. The room is spacious enough to fit a rollaway bed in, if needed. The hotel is only 2 floors so I didn't have anyone above me. I could hear the neighbor's snoring for part of the night and the toilet flushing. However, the train and airplane noises were muted. The staff was friendly. The breakfast area was clean but the food was standard, premade rubbery eggs. The potato dish was very tasty.

We stayed here the night before we went on holiday. The hotel room was dark, decor was definitely needing an update. Right outside our window we had scruffy looking campsite. The air conditioner was old, and very noisy. We booked a wake up call, that didn't happen. Our take away breakfast consisted of a yogurt, a muffin, a piece of fruit and a biscuit. All pretty tasteless and unsubstantial. They did order a taxi to take us to the airport (no charge for us) because their airport shuttle wasn't running, so they gives them a 2 star rating rather than 1. I wouldn't stay here again, nor recommend anyone does

We stayed here for 2 nights as our family flew in from different areas of the country. It is easy to get back and forth to the airport from here. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The room was a good size and clean. very happy.

I booked this hotel because of the price and airport proximity. I didn't expect to be delighted with the room! Clean, spacious, tastefully decorated and fairly recently updated. It's not the Ritz, but offered nice amenities. The best was comfortable, ac worked great. Why it got 4 stars: Parking is limited, road noise could be an issue if your on the end by the highway, location is convenient to airport and highways but not a place to linger or walk about. Public areas of hotel smell faintly like pot and sweat and could use some updating so don't plan to hang out in the hall and you'll be happy.

The room was a normal hotel room very clean, and comfortable there was enough room for 4 people to move around. The lobby and breakfast are were clean and a large amount of space for people. Our granddaughters loved the pool. The pool and hot tub were clean and water temperature was good

I'm not one for complaining, and I have certainly stayed in my fair share of roadside motels. My standards are not high until the value proposition is upside down. This property is in sort of a crusty neighborhood, although right near the MAX. Some renovations had clearly been made but the smell of cigarettes is still there. The continental breakfast is nothing special. Couldn't find the remote to the TV in my room. Two of four light bulbs out in the bathroom. Somebody's long black hair stuck to the shower wall. Looked for the blackout blinds, but couldn't find them. Found out from the front desk in the morning that they are the only hotel in the world that put them behind the see through blinds. My bad for sure, but couldn't sleep on account of the 100 million megawatt floodlights right outside the room. Again, my standards are not high, and I don't have a REAL problem with any or all of these things. The problem is that this is a $90 freeway motel that I paid $245 for.

This is such a beautiful hotel. My wife, little dog and I loved it. If you stay here get a room facing the courtyard! You will not be disappointed. The only thing that was disappointing was the breakfast. Everything was half cooked.

The staff was very friendly and nice. The proximity to the airport is great. There's a decent restaurant next door. I walked into my room and it smelled super musty like no one had been in there for a month. The other bad thing was the refrigerator kicked on during the night and was so loud it woke me up. I was going to unplug it but there was no way to get to the outlet. I also had to kill a large spider. That freaked me out. It was fine for a one night stay but wouldn't be my choice for any longer.

Great staff , and very big breakfast with lots of choices. The beds were very comfortable and the room had plenty of space. The hotel offers a timely shuttle service to the airport as well as rental car locations.

For an older property, this hotel was very clean, had excellent breakfast, and the staff was phenomenal! We loved the cozy beds. Very close to the airport and shuttle service is available. We will visit again!

Traveling with kids AND pet, requiring pet-friendly, free breakfast, free internet, free parking AND a pool without breaking the bank. A solid, clean, quiet place to sleep while gadding about the Portland area. Close to everything, no plane noise (we were on the East side outside), plenty of AC, a couple trains (no big deal). Friendly staff, no rowdy guests (mostly business travelers). The only con was that since it was so hot the pool was very heavily used, but they did shut it down for a couple of hours one morning to clean/maintain it, so they were actively addressing the issue. A bit of murk wasn't going to slow anyone down on a nearly 90 degree day anyway. Plenty of towels; good water pressure in the shower. Watch the bottom of the tub; it slopes and may pose a slip hazard if you are not aware. Breakfast is varied (biscuits n' gravy, waffle maker, several juices, cereal, eggs, potatoes, and more) and plentiful. Beds are supportive and comfortable with 4 pillows per queen. Fridge is relatively large, no freezer. Absolutely no complaints; a solid no-fuss experience.

I have been a Best Western loyalty member for over 12 years and am in the top elite membership status. I only say this for credibility of my expectations of what the Best Western name generally stands for. The overall appearance of the hotel was old and rundown. They were in the process of a remodel. The staff who initially checked me in almost seamed inconvenienced that he had to stand up to help me. He was not rude but he was not the standard I am use to. I went to my room which had been remolded and appeared to be decent in appearance, nothing fancy but comfortable. i later discovered drywall dust all over the bathroom and around the room along with tools left behind by the workers. The heat unit did not work. After a call to the front desk I was moved to an older room for the remainder of my week long business stay. It was Old and outdated but it was clean and it worked. Later in the week my window was broken out of my vehicle and items stolen from inside the glovebox, I understand that the hotel is not responsible. I went to the front desk and was told that this had happened to numerous vehicles over the night and for some reason their hired security did not notice. I was told she would go get the manager to come and speak to me and she was nice and very apologetic. As she entered the office I could her explain what had happened and asked her to come speak to me. Even though I had not asked to speak to the manager I thought this was a professional and caring idea and maybe they would be able to help call a glass company and the police. That though was interrupted by a females voice very loudly state "there's nothing I can do for him go give him the number for the police and tell him were not responsible". So I took care of everything myself, including getting a plastic garbage bag elsewhere to keep the rain from continuing to pour into my vehicle until the glass company could repair the window. As I ate the breakfast each morning I had the privilege of listening to all the gossip that was going on in the hotel along with the staff's personal lives as they loudly broadcasted it across the lobby from the front desk area. I understand people are people but employees should be trained to talk about those issues away from the guests of the hotel, or at least in a low volume so not everyone in the dining area has to hear it. During the week I was staying, there were a lot of hotel guest rolling their eyes and even some who threw their food away and made comments about better eating atmosphere in bars. And then my window was broken out a second time just prior to my departure. This time I didn't bother telling the front desk I just took care of things on my own. Prior to the glass company coming to the hotel to repair my window they notified me that their portable vacuum was not working and they needed a power outlet to run an extension cord so they could vacuum up the glass from the interior of my vehicle. I called the front desk and asked if they could use one of the exterior outlets and I was told it would not be possible since it would disturb the construction crew who was doing the remodel, this was a complete lie due to all the construction was inside the hotel all around my room. During the entire time the glass company replaced my window one pickup arrived and pulled up front and two guys pulled several sheets of drywall from the back of it and carried them inside. And extension cord would not have stopped them from being able to do that. This is by no means anything I have ever experienced at any Best Western and in my opinion this hotel should not be allowed to carry the chain name. I will never stay at this hotel again and will recommend everyone I care about to steer clear, I may still recommend this hotel to people I extremely dislike.

They arrange taxi if too late for shuttle, have nice breakfast, very nice staff. Even had some cookies available late at night. Newspapers, good wifi, blackout curtains, all in all the best choice for layover hotel

It's Saturday night and I have no reservations but in driving around a very large city I found a Best Westernthat was very hospitable Not only did the staff take good care of me but the building was well cared for also I felt welcomed and cared for and not like they had to but wanted to Great job Best Western andAmy

I was flying out of PDX the next morning on a 5am flight, so needed someplace close. I also needed to check in early, in order to conduct some on line business. I was able to get checked in easily. I also wanted to have someplace that could get me to the airport via shuttle at that absurd hour of the morning, which they were able to do! Hotel is in kind of a worn neighborhood; my room looked out over a trailer park kind of place that looked a little sketchy. But I did feel safe. Very friendly folks at the front desk!

We stayed here in late March, during spring break, although booking late, we still found a nice room, airport shuttle, long-term parking. We will definitely consider staying here again when we come to Portland. Easy access to Portland freeways.

Staff was great, rooms are very nice. Lobby is very attractive, breakfast was pretty good. They don't have a restaurant or bar, but there are nice places nearby. The Elmer's next door is surprisingly good. It is close to rental car sites and access to I-205 is very handy. We would happily stay here again.

I used to stay here when traveling on business years ago, and found it to be clean, comfortable, quiet and convenient. I was in Portland over a weekend to catch a concert, and this was the first place I thought of as I was flying early into PDX. The hotel hit on all cylinders, with bonus points for having a room ready for me to check into at 10:30 AM. Staff is super-friendly and helpful!

The place was nice. It was clean. Sarah went above and beyond to make sure we were informed of what's happening around Made a few phone calls for us for the Saturday Market info. Just a nice young lady and knowledgeable about her job. There was a leak from tub that ended up wetting the floor in the bedroom and sheetrock discoloration behind toilet showing a leak. Other than that, the bed was comfy and again, Sarah was great.

This BW establishment is close to Portland International Airport, as well as The Grotto, the National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother, an urban pilgrimage site for Catholic Christians as well as others by the Servite Friars since 1923 (a mile or 20-min walking distance). The hotel is also on the east side of downtown and a shorter distance to the Columbia River Gorge, Multnomah Falls, and Mosier Twin Tunnels.

Downtown choices seemed pricey or sketchy, so I decided to go with this location because it was close to a transportation hub. Traveling solo I felt safe walking in the area. I took a bus to the Grotto and walked back in the evening. Also make sure you visit the historical cemetery across the way. And the Columbia Gorge Express is one station away. Staff was great from super friendly Sarah and helpful Sherri. I am sorry I did not get the name of the "breakfast gentleman" who did a super job keeping the area clean and full of tasty food choices. No need to use the exercise room since I hike a lot, but I did enjoyed relaxing in the sauna.

We were staying in Pacific City, Oregon and my wife had an early departure from Portland airport. An internet search and reviews lead us to this Best Western. The staff was friendly, helpful in getting us reservations at a local seafood restaurant for dinner, and the room was clean. The quick (less than ten minute) trip to the airport on Best Western's shuttle was a plus.

OK, I was fooled by the name. It sounded like it was going to be a rural motel. It was not. Upscale furnishings, soft pillows and beds, and spacious and quiet rooms. The workout room equipment could use some repairs (the buttons on the machines have been used so often they can't be read).

Our room was freshly renovated which was a plus, however there are three construction containers taking up about 10 parking stalls in an already limited parking lot. Be sure to check in or come back early on Friday and Saturday nights to secure a well lit parking stall.l

We stayed one night. The building is very nice, with a beautiful lobby. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. The staff were extremely helpful. The wi-fi service was excellent, as was the guest breakfast. We did not use the airport (we arrived by car and were visiting family in Portland), but the hotel does offer an airport shuttle for guests. One thing to watch for: If you arrive via northbound Interstate 205, the ramp takes you onto eastbound Sandy Boulevard. Sandy Boulevard does an almost immediate 45 degree turn to the right as you approach the Pony Soldier Inn. If you miss that turn you will be right back on a northbound I-205 on-ramp.

Stayed here the night before an early flight. Good place, surprisingly good breakfast food selection. Room was spacious,clean, comfortable. Reasonably good access to light rail (5-10 minute walk). Airport shuttle in morning was convenient. Will likely stay here again if I need an airport hotel in Portland.

We booked this place last minute and regretted it immediately. There is very limited parking (they do offer a pass to park in the neighboring diner's lot, but then we had to lug our luggage all the way across to the hotel) We were put in one of the pet-friendly rooms. I understand that we booked last minute so that's understandable, but those rooms felt like they were way out in the middle of nowhere (no one would have heard us scream that's for sure) Once we finally found the back door, the smell of the hallway smacked us in the face. I think they were doing some kind of construction because we also had to step over extension cords running randomly down the halls. The room itself was okay, no pet smell or anything which was good. The tub wasn't the cleanest. And when we looked out our window, we had a view of the next door trailer park. Service was good and nothing terrible happened to us, but we just felt dirty. And it was frustrating because it was so expensive vs the quality - only $10 more would have gotten us an amazing room at the Hyatt airport hotel. We should have done that instead.

Nice motel. Very good service and friendly, helpful staff. good location. Very helpful shuttle back and forth, computer for guests' use. I recommend this motel for people in need of a motel at Portland airport.

The rooms were clean and everything worked. The kitchen was very nice and the staff was very attentive that there were no empty items. We have stayed here once before and we remembered the staff being very attentive. We had a choice of another place to stay that would have been closer to where we were going, but we remembered how nice everyone was here so chose to go back.

The facility was nice but no parking was available. Also found dirty socks in our room at the edge of the bedskirt from the previous occupant. The best part of our stay was the breakfast. I wont stay here again for just that though.

The rooms were big and the staff was really nice. Beds were comfy, all the amenities available. Good area. Breakfast had a lot to offer and it was a nice long time for availability. I didn't notice any noise other than a plane once in awhile and nothing woke us up during the night.

I try to stay here whenever the price is in line. Sometimes it is just overpriced and I have to stay at the Troutdale location. This one is closer to my teaching venue and as long as I don't get a room along the airport onramp, it is a quiet hotel. Quiet and comfortable beds are my first priority as a business traveler, but I also appreciate a good breakfast, which this place has. The coffee is pretty good here as well.

It's all about the staff. Most BW's are much the same (except in Louisiana,... their the pits). The Pony Soldier stands out because the staff makes a point to make you feel welcome. Meet Sara once, and you'll want to come back.

Every single person at this hotel is friendly, helpful a pleasure to deal with. My room was spotless, their breakfast offerings are plentiful and delicious. Marv the shuttle driver will brighten your day and get you where you need to be!

Stayed here for 1 night for business. It's located a short 10 minute drive from the airport right off the freeway. Pros: Friendly service Reliable WIFI Plenty of parking, spacious lot Cons: Location – although close to the airport, there isn't much around in terms of good food. Go south from here and the neighborhood looks like it can get a bit sketchy. Interior and rooms have older feel Nothing stood out and sleep quality was average, but I would stay here again.

A good place to stay. The front desk is one of the best in the USA. Not much for blankets. We looked but did not see a blanket in the dresser drawer. A fair night's sleep could have been great with more blankets on the bed. Breakfast was better than most. Good potatoes, good cheese omelet. The breakfast area was cold enough to hang meat. It must have been close to 32 degrees. What will it take to turn up the heater?????????? People eating there had on their outside coats and looked frozen as we were. A good breakfast could have been great with more heat in the room. And then there was the laundry. I needed to do a little. The door was locked on the 2nd floor laundry. To get the key you must go downstairs to the desk and return upstairs to do the laundry. There must be a better system. The room was clean and was roomy. Cookies on the weekends would be great but they only offer them on the week days. So much for their extra effort.

We stayed here on our departure and return. The place was clean realatively quiet. The The contenital breakfast was real good. The staff were friendly and the parking was easy. The area the hotel is in is a bit questionable but not to bad.

Clean room comfy bed decent breakfast items. I had go to a conference in Portland and had no idea where to stay. I checked the ratings and found this hotel. It was better than I had expected . I would stay here again in a heartbeat

Well located and convenient to freeway, airport, shopping. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and great value for a quick weekend trip. Best western brand hotels are generally better than most in the 3 * category and I will use this location again.

We didn't use any amenities, so I can't speak for everything at the hotel, but the breakfast was excellent and the location is near the airport. Also, having Elmer's next door was convenient for dinner when you're too tired to go out into the city and find another restaurant.

I was misled by the positive reviews of this place and should have looked a bit more closely before booking. Making a note for others! The price (for a Portland hotel is quite low — but of course, there's a reason. This hotel is run down, one of those that has a bad odor throughout, both my room and hallways. The pet area outside is downright scary, with old furniture left around to kind of just rot. It's also where all the employees smoke. The hotel itself is on the edge of a shantytown trailer park, and this was my view. The breakfast is better skipped, very poor quality food. My stay here was overall thoroughly unpleasant. General note: for BW Rewards people, the corporate office recently refused to compensate me for a booking mishap that ruined a holiday for me so I will not be staying at BWs again as there are much better loyalty programs with other hotels.

I travel to Portland yearly, so I stayed here last September for four nights. This hotel is conveniently located near the airport and is clean and comfortable - I enjoy staying at the Best Western and they delivered again with this location. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet - I highly recommend staying here if you're visiting Portland.

The room was comfortable, but a little noisy from traffic and lacking some modern upgrades like a refrigerator and decent coffee makers or fresh coffee in the lobby. Dog friendly, which is a big plus!

We had an enjoyable stay. We travel with our service dog and had no issues from the staff because he was accompanying us. The only issue that we noticed is that the sauna-tub panel was broken and a little bit dirty. Besides that, it was an enjoyable stay.

The rooms are nice and they are quiet--I did not hear any aircraft even with the nearness to the airport, and the ground traffic was very subdued. There was plenty of parking. Unfortunately, the traffic on the streets was in constant gridlock in the evening make it very difficult to get in and out of the property. The only restaurant in walking distance is a chain cafe...

We stayed here close to Portland Airport before going to our final destination as we got in too late to drive in the dark on mountain roads. The location was good for being close to the airport and the room was comfortable and the lobby was very good. well decorated and set up, with a nice staircase down from the second floor. Breakfast was typical and plentiful with fresh fruit.

I was a bit disappointed at the lay out of the rooms. It ws very inconvenient to walk around and in and out to get to our room. I did ask for a ground floor location for convenience since my husband had a difficult time getting around. The room assigned to us was very disappointing.

Requested quiet room. Given room in direct line of airport traffic! Very noisy all night. We weren't told quiet room next to renovating workers either which added to he noise problem. Will ask for a room in opposite end of this hotel next time, if we stay here again.

Pick up service was prompt and helpful. Breakfast good for the value. Even though hotel was on a busy street, rooms are quiet. They followed through on my request of room. Kind staff. I don't usually travel alone but did in this instance and felt very safe.

The staff made my stay exceptional. My purpose for staying was not pleasant - my boyfriend was at OHSU to have emergency triple bypass surgery, but the staff treated me very kindly and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable.

The hotel is small and very comfortable with great staff and good breakfast. My room was very nice, big comfortable king bed, and it was quiet even though the freeway was nearby. The pool and spa are outside in an atrium setting.

Everything was great. The room, breakfast, house keeping. The internet was on the slow side. I nice TV with lots of channel choices and even a channel guide. But they are in the process of renovating many of the rooms and the noise level during the afternoons when I was trying to do computer work was very disappointing. When I mentioned this to the young man when I checked out he response was "sorry."

The hotel is very nice but in a noisy area. Staff is very pleasant. Breakfast no so much! Many items but many were stale. Room very clean and well-stoocked. I would recommend this BW. Right next door to a restaurant which is walkable distance. Close to freeway.

I've stayed here several times before an early flight (most recently being this month) and it's always an enjoyable stay. The staff are extremely friendly and kind and the needs of the guest are clearly number one in their mind. For awhile it seemed their rooms were always a little dirty, but they've been pretty good the last couple years. It's a beautiful hotel and I love the decor!

I've been staying here since 93, 1st choice of any hotel in the Portland area. Front desk staff just fantastic, Sara, Crystal, Amy, Theo, and Amit to name a few, treat me as family. Always so helpful.... Rooms are very nice, always clean, great condition. Breakfast is just right, plenty of different options for you and fresh. Everyone here treats you as if they are the owners, with respect, cheerful,and as Family. If traveling to the PDX airport area or Portland vicinity, this is the place to stay.

Road Warriors should like this one. Near airport (5-10 minutes), very competent and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms geared for busy people, and decent breakfast. There is an Elmer's (kind of an upscale version of iHop or Chili's) right across the parking lot if you get in late. We were on vacation, but with a tight schedule. This is the kind of place I often hoped for when traveling for business and it was more than pleasant. We called for their shuttle to get over to the hotel after car rental return so we wouldn't have to deal with that in the morning. It arrived quickly and was easy to catch. Scheduled an early morning shuttle for the red-eye, which was on-time and took us to the correct terminal gate in about 10 minutes. The lobby is relaxing and nicely appointed. We used the computer there to pre-print our boarding passes.

Nice clean rooms. Staff First Class. Sahara made reservations, very help. My wife and I will make this hotel FIRST on our list when making reservations. Good location, well lighted parking lot. Breakfast was not the typical, staff was exceptional. We travel to Portland on business quite often and without question will stay again.

Great adventure from the very beginning. Pick up the luggage at the airport, call the desk at Pony Soldier and the van is there to pick us up within a few minutes. Very, very pleasant staff...people oriented! Room is well kept - updated. Breakfast had a little of everything to please even the fussy eaters. Coffee was incredibly good too! Nice overnight stay....

We chose the Pony Soldier Inn because of it being a Best Western close to the airport. The choice was definitely a good one. It is a place of convenience as well as very comfortable. We were just in town on our way through from Canada and was able to have our family come and enjoy an hour before we needed to leave to get our plane. The decor of the lobby and the room was an advantage to us for this. And the shuttle ride was excellent.

We like this Best Western hotel best for stays prior to flying out of PDX. It is near the airport but not as loud from airplane noise as others nearer to the airport. Their package is very affordable to stay the night and then park your car their while gone. Food service for breakfast is excellent and starts at 4am so leaving at 5am to catch our flight, we are well fed and had our coffee. The lobby and grounds are relaxing and beautiful. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Sweet staff. Good sized room. Hotel really outdated and smelled of BO and mustiness throughout. We stayed there before, and I remembered that it smelled bad. No change there. Not enough parking and the room rate for the hotel location wass way too expensive.

There is good attention to detail here although one or two elements could be looked atto give you 5 stars. Pillows could be a bit bigger. A couple of usb sockets in a room is now normal. One more thing clearly your staff are taught to smile but sometimes it feels as though they are working too hard at it. Perhaps if the policy was less strict it would feel more genuine.

They changed the size of the pillows to really small sizes. Which looks better visually but not very comfortable to sleep with. I didn't stay for breakfast, so I can't comment on the food. The pool was closed.

Very accommodating with very friendly and helpful staff. Will not hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone. Every time we visit Portland, Oregon we shall stay at this hotel. We have been visiting Portland for a number of years and our stay at the BW-Pony Soldier was never disappointing.

Even just for a convenient stay overnight at the airport, I find this hotel so depressing and poor value. There are certainly much more attractive lodging options around the airport. The hotel is so dated it hardly provides a refreshing rest after a long flight. The view from the hotel is also depressing which makes you want to hit the road as early as possible.

I don't know if this Best Western Plus hotel is new but it looks new. There is easy access to visit and it is close to the Portland International Airport. The service was excellent as we arrived early and had to stay one night and leave very early the next morning to catch a flight. Unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to have the hot breakfast but based on other Best Western experiences I am sure it would have been excellent. We had a view room of the pool. The sound from the airport was not very noticeable so the hotel must have good sound proofing. We will likely stay there again.

This was a great choice for me as I was traveling alone and needed to be near the airport. The Pony Soldier exceeded my expectations and then some. I felt so comfortable and safe staying there. All the amenities were provided and the staff was very courteous and helpful with directions. I would happily stay here again and I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is located great for the airport with a nice restaurant adjacent. I would only stay there for a convenience to the airport, with a very accommodating shuttle. The shuttle driver was awesome. The breakfast was good. there was no onsite parking with the construction going on.

We found this hotel to be very accommodating and comfortable. Very quiet even though on a main road. The room was very clean and updated. Check in was very easy and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Breakfast was the typical Continental breakfast. But no concerns because there is a very nice Elmer's pancake restaurant right next door. All in all a very good place to stay in Portland. We will stay here again

Clean, comfortable hotel. varied hot breakfast. Close to Portland's great train service. Hotel staff was courteous and helpful. I was here for a convention, but got to visit Washington Park's International Rose Garden and the Japanese Gardens, both lovely.

We have stayed here multiple times. Most rooms are quiet with the exception of ones along the freeway on-ramp. The breakfast has always been good and the rooms very clean and comfortable. The price is up and down, more up of late, but still significantly less than those I would prefer to stay in, such as the Hampton Inn, so I keep coming back here. The staff is outstanding, very friendly and kind. The airport shuttle is timely and helpful.

stayed here on the first night of our visit to Oregon, would have liked to have stayed longer as it was a very pleasant hotel. We used points to stay in another hotel on NE Airport Dr. when we returned to Portland, and ended up in a horrible traffic jam- cars trying to get to I-205. Next time we will stay in the BW, away from the traffic.

This is a great place to stay for those using PDX (Portland's airport). The staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are clean, and transportation to the airport begins about 4:00 a.m. The rental car return at the airport is less than 10 minutes away. The only downside of our stay is the location of the motel, very close to the Sandy Blvd. interchange with the interstate, creates a huge traffic tie up at certain times of the day, making it a challange to enter and leave the Best Western by car.

We were very happy with our experience here. The staff was wonderful, especially when dealing with disappointed travelers who had to change their plans due to the wildfires.The shuttle to the airport and to Budget/Thrifty Car Rental was very reliable and prompt. Our room was spacious and the breakfast area was well stocked. Warm cookies at the desk were a nice touch. Good choice if you are looking for an airport motel. Elmer's restaurant is a short walk across the parking lot.

Cannot say enough nice things about our two night stay. The staff was great as soon as we checked in. The rooms were large and the bed was very comfortable. Both evenings we took our bottle of wine and sat outside. Very relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. The breakfast was one of the best. Also the inn is only a short distance from the airport so the night before we were to leave we turned our car in and took the shuttle the next morning. There is a restaurant in walking distance so if you don't want to drive you do not have to.

We stayed at Best Western Pony Soldier Inn for one night last week. We did not spend a lot of time at the hotel as we arrived close to 10pm and had to be on our way to the airport at 5:30am, but we enjoyed what little time we spent there! Very clean accommodations (although, as previous reviewers have stated, the hallways do have an interesting aroma...), friendly front desk staff and a continental breakfast set up at 4am! That part was particularly helpful since we had to head out so early. Thanks, Pony Soldier Inn!

Great place and was pleasantly surprised by the very nice courtyard with pool and jacuzzi. 8 minutes to the airport. There was a large breakfast room, however, I did not partake of breakfast. Lobby is a welcoming area.

We stayed here a total of two nights. The night we flew into the airport before getting our rental car, as well as after returning our rental car before flying out the next morning. Overall we had a great stay. I was impressed with the breakfast options as they had more hot options than I am used to (breakfast burrito, omelet, bacon, sausage, etc...). The hotel, although slightly outdated, was clean & presentable. The shuttle driver told us they'll be going through updates shortly so I'm sure that will be nice. We didn't use the pool or hot tub, but it looked like a very nice area. We used the shuttle service several times. It took the shuttle about 15 minutes to get to the airport once we called, not terrible, but note for future you probably want to call as you're walking to baggage claim rather than after you get your bags. I do only have one bad experience about the shuttle service. Once we dropped off our rental car we called again to shuttle back to the hotel. We were told the driver was out on a stop but would be sent right after. I figured given the shuttle drives close, it would be longer wait than usual but figured within 30 minutes we'd see someone. However, we unfortunately waited just over 50 minutes for the shuttle to come. I Understand it was most likely very busy at the airport (there is only one shuttle & driver). To be honest, I wish we had just been told it would be so long up front. I would have rather paid $7 for an uber to get to the hotel in 10 minutes rather than sit at the car rental facility waiting for 50 minutes. Perhaps a time estimate for busy times would help future customers? Shuttles in the morning were very prompt and we had no issues there. Overall, I would definitely stay here again if we travel to Portland to be somewhere near the airport.

Every staff person we met was friendly and helpful. When we checked in, the desk clerk recommended that we take our rental car back the night before our flight and they would pick us up from the car rental office and take us to the airport early the next a.m. Great. The place is clean and quiet.

Great free breakfast with many protein choices. Never tired of the breakfast choices for a 5 day stay. Always greeted by staff. Great NE Portland area. Close to I-205, Airport and Vancouver, WA. Would stay here again.

We stayed Sep 11 and the room was clean and the temp in the room was perfect with the a/c running. It was 85 degrees outside I checked in with a friendly receptionist, then returned my rental car to Budget, and they picked me up there and drove me back to hotel with only a 10 minute wait after I phoned them for free. I did give a good tip. Tomorrow I will get a ride to airport for free at 5:00 AM But great room, large, clean, and comfortable bed for a great price I highly recommend

We overnight here when flying out of PDX. They have a very responsive shuttle, wonderful staff, very nice rooms and a great bed. What more can you ask for! Oh yes, they have a good breakfast and the rates are very reasonable. Will definitely be back.

This best western does an excellent job of providing its guests a good and enjoyable stay despite the surrounding neighborhood not being the best. I had to go out and get something and the neighborhood was really shady. However, the hotel inside feels safe and comfortable. Customer service was good and they offer a full breakfast (e.g. bagles, bacon, eggs, etc.). Would stay again if in that area.

Nice and convenience location to major attractions and highways. About 4 miles from the airport but no issues from airplane noise. Nice size guest rooms, rooms clean and smell smoke free as compare to other smoke free rooms at other best western that did small like a dungeon. Highlights for me was the breakfast, the check-in staff, and the exterior of the hotel. Check-in staff were speedy, efficient and make sure issues were address timely. A family member of mine wanted their room change and the staff change the room within a minute or two without any issues. The exterior of the hotel is not flashy but decent, and the breakfast was definitely continental with many varieties.

Great inn , enjoyed staying there, my family was there also we were placed near each other. Very easy access from the airport. I would stay again there..everyone was satisfied in the party. My brother from California suggested my stay there.

We were treated well at the Pony, with a friendly, helpful staff (especially Sarah). The suite was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was good and we spent a quiet, restful night. The location is also convenient to many of our favorite Portland haunts, including Lloyd's Center. No complaints and we will likely be back!

Loved this hotel and the people who work there. One staff member even suggested a great place to eat that was within walking distance. Everyone was very helpful. There was a nice variety of food items at breakfast, and coffee was available all day. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. There were places to eat and shop close by. If I am in this area again, I will definitely stay here.

I've stayed at the BW Pony Soldier Inn in 2015 when my husband and I visited Oregon for a vacation. I stayed again for 4 days in 8-2017 during a backpack trip on the PCT. Both times I was very happy with the accommodations. Very clean rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, clean, and quiet. Did have difficulty in adjusting the temp. in the room. The adjustments were there but nothing seemed to change when I adjusted it. It wasn't a big deal, just wanted to lower the temp a few degrees. Second trip I enjoyed the jacuzzi for 2 nights after my backpack trip. It was a delight. The breakfast food was typical hotel breakfast food. The presentation was good and plenty of food was offered. Never ran out of food, Lots of choices of teas and coffees. Free shuttle to and from the airport was nice. Quick and easy and fast service. I would stay here again if I'm in the area.

The hotel is excellent. It is easy to get to just off I-205. Staff very professional. Hotel was clean and the breakfast was one of BW best. One excellent benefit to us was that we were less than a mile from the airport.

I stayed here so I could relax after my visit with family in Eugene. My flight left early Friday morning so I opted to stay in Portland. The hotel is phenomenal. I got an executive room poolside. Sweet! The room was very nice and clean. I had a little patio with chairs outside the sliding glass doors. The front desk staff was very helpful and the breakfast was good. The shuttle to the airport was on time and comfortable. I will stay here again when I visit family in Eugene, maybe even two nights!!!

Our room was facing the patio and pool. The place was spotless and the bed was huge and comfortable. The lobby and breakfast area were huge and very nicely furnished over looking the patio. We were coming back from Lincoln City after the Eclipse so traffic was horrible. It was so nice to have the staff so welcoming.

We enjoy staying at this hotel when we come into Portland, it's close to the airport and not far from restaurants. The staff is very helpful and friendly. This is the second time we have stayed here in a year, and both times it has been very nice.

Reasonable rates and friendly staff make the Best Western Pony Soldier a comfortable place to stay. Close to the airport as well as 205 and 84 freeways and not far from 5, it's easy to get around the area from their location.

Very nice Best Western, perhaps the nicest! The extras at breakfast were a real treat, like berries and whip cream for the waffle, and delicious raisin bread was available..over and above in choices. The pool area is quiet and spacious, really nice for visiting.

We spent one night at this BW during a quick visit to the Sandy/Mt. Hood area. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. When I called for an extra blanket, they delivered it immediately.

This was our last night on the West coast ,flying out in morning .Checked in about 2 in afternoon ,room ready.But day was young and still time to see things.Front desk very friendly ,gave us suggestions and printed out maps for sights.We had a rental car ,again very nice front desk,we were able to return rental that night and there shuttle picked us up and returned us to hotel(avoiding return before A.M flight)Took us back to airport at 430 a.m..Full breakfast not til 6 ,but they did have a good continental breakfast at 4am. GREAT employees! Room clean and equipped with nessesities

We always stay at this facility when we come to the Portland area. Through the years, they have consistently provided excellence in service from check-in to check-out . I highly recommend Elmer's restaurant next door too.

While we did not spend extensive time at the Inn, our stay was excellent. Your staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and while we may not return to Portland, we will plan to stay at Best Western as the need arises.

Clean rooms. Near airport and rental car return. Breakfast was the best "hotel" food in my travels with plenty of seating.We stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip. Our first room was on the first floor near the front desk but we did not hear any noise from that area from our room. Our last night was on the second floor and I liked the quality of room better. Continental breakfast starts at 4AM, hot food later in the AM. With an early flight, continental breakfast was truly appreciated.

Quiet, clean, reasonably priced and best of all for me they are pet friendly. I enjoyed relaxing at the out door pool and hot tub. Breakfast offers more items than I have seen at other hotel chains. I will be staying here on return visits.

Nice place; very helpful staff; decent included breakfast; convenient to public transportation; apparently some rooms have been recently renovated while other haven't been yet. Ask for a renovated room.

We stayed at this hotel the night we arrived and the night before we left. The staff is amazingly friendly and picked us up promptly at the airport when we called them. When we asked how best to walk to the nearby train station, the shuttle driver offered to pop us over there and even walked over with us to help us use the ticket machine. Breakfast is decent and coffee is hot. I usually hate hotel beds but these were extremely comfortable.

I stayed at the Pony Soldier on recommendation from my family. I had spent 3 nights in downtown Portland and it was suggested that because I had an early AM flight home, I should stay nearby the airport so I didn't have to wake up as early. This was a great idea and it also saved me some money that I would've spent on an additional night staying downtown. The hotel was only a 5-minute drive away and they had a complimentary shuttle that took guests to the airport at half-hour intervals. I was given a first-floor room, which made it easier for me to transfer my luggage. The room was just fine and had all the amenities I needed for a one-night stay. The only thing I didn't like about it was it was right by the pool and I could hear people out there until about 10 pm. I suppose I could've asked for a different room, but it wasn't really worth it for just one night. One thing I was told by reception upon check-in was that there would be breakfast available at 4 am the next morning. I'm not big on hotel breakfast, but I was a bit disappointed that the breakfast was not fully ready at 4 am while I was waiting for the shuttle. I don't believe it was brought out before I left on the shuttle. Other than that, I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling home from Portland. It's a good value, it's close to the airport and it's clean and comfortable.

We decided to check Portland out, just using MAX. It was our first time in Portland and did not know very much about the area. We had a short stay and figured that renting a car would be an expense we didn't need.. Great Hotel, price and service and food was marvelous and yes we'll recommend Pony Solider and not to go downtown. The lady shutter driver was teriffic.

The hotel itself is fine and it is definitely won't hurt the budget if looking for a place to stay in Portland. Not in exactly and upwardly mobile neighborhood but overall a good experience. We would easily stay there again.

This is an older hotel with a lot of refurbishing. We stayed in a "suite". Not sure what that means because there were a lot of them. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They offered fresh baked cookies at check-in....nice touch. The room is large and mostly clean and well presented. It included a spa tub and the jets didn't appear to be clean (something black inside). I also noticed that the hallway by my door was not cleaned. Dust and dirt had accumulated in the corners of the carpet and carpet base. Breakfast is a feast and includes something for everyone. Our room had a coffee maker, frig, microwave and stove. The grounds are beautifully manicured and the exterior building is very well maintained. I gave it a 4 because of the cleaning issues.

We stayed just one night. The hotel is clean, close to the airport, comfortable bed. The hotel has a pool and hot tub however we did not use them. They have a hot breakfast which was very good. The desk clerks were very friendly.

Rooms in need of renov. Clerk said they would be soon. For some reason they don't have rooms with two queens on the inside courtyard facing the pool. Just one Kings. Makes no sense, most families need two queens and use the pool where single travelers generally don't. Told clerk this and she agreed. Room facing out to parking lot isn't that quiet just FYI if you're on ground floor. Breakfast was ok, hubby liked the breakfast burritos. Easy walk over to Elmer's for meals. Pool nice, not too cold. Plenty of pool toys for kids. Close to airport but not city center. Service was hit it miss. Some clerks friendly others indifferent. Breakfast employees ok, not warm and friendly though. Housekeeper nice.

This hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast every morning was fantastic. The location was pretty convenient to everything we needed. Check in/out was quick and easy. This place is definitely a good value.

We had a couple issues the night we checked in - TV remote didn't work, laundry room key was missing, police were called for a trespasser, but they took care of all of it. Even though it's near the airport, it was surprisingly quiet. The pool and spa were perfect, and the breakfast was good. Very clean, comfy bed and quite convenient.

My hubby and I spent two days in Portland before heading to the beach. Near the airport, but didn't hear any planes while in our room. King size bed on ground floor, facing pool. Coffee maker, microwave and fridge in room. Lobby has coffee/tea available 24/7. Carpet could use a shampoo. Bed was comfy and several pillows. Breakfast is included. Has little omelettes, sausage and you can ask for biscuits and gravy. Also has a waffle maker, yogurt, cereal. Enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at this hotel for a total of four nights, 3 nights after flying in and 1 night before flying out of PDX. The shuttle from the airport is very convenient (about a 10 minute ride in normal traffic), the hotel has free parking and you can walk to restaurants and the MAX. The location of the hotel is half way between downtown Portland City Center and the Columbia River Valley (and Multnomah Falls).The staff was friendly and very helpful with suggestions for local restaurants and directions to the MAX station. The rooms are comfortable and have a coffeemaker, microwave and small refrigerator. The outdoor pool area is lovely and we enjoyed sitting there in the evenings to watch sunset and have a cocktail. The first room we had faced Mt. Hood and for the second stay we requested a room facing the pool. That room had a nice balcony with chairs to sit and enjoy the pool area view. The breakfast each morning was great and included eggs, sausage, etc. The hours for breakfast were great too, so we had plenty of time to get there and could always get a table. Beds were comfortable and we slept well. The two closest restaurants are Elmer's and Bill's Steakhouse and we ate at both. We rented a car from an off airport location to save money and took an Uber there. The hotel did offer free shuttle service to a car rental location, but not the one we had booked. We took the MAX train into Portland City Center one day and it was a quick 20 minute ride. The station is a 5 minute walk from hotel. There are onsite laundry facilities which we did use. The front desk can provide change and laundry detergent for the machines. Overall we were very pleased with our stay here and would return if we are ever in Portland again.

We had a wonderful over night stay at the Pony Solider BW Airport in Portland, OR. Breakfast dining room was very large, but buffet serving area was quite crowded & narrow, they need more space in this area. Shuttle drivers to airport were very good, & went out of their way to help us both ways.

You can usually tell what the hotel will be like by the staff that is hired. So my first impression of your hotel was outstanding when I got picked up at the airport by Sarah. She had a positive attitude. Was informative and made all the passengers in the van feel welcome. She introduced herself and got everyone to do the same . Great way to break the ice. The rest of the staff were also great. Nice pool and hot tub. Breakfast each morning filled the tummy. Great quiet room. Worth a return visit.

We decided to stop for the night, no reservation. Went to the desk Crystal was awesome & helpful. She told us what was available, my spouse was wearing his military hat, she asked if he is actually military we got a discount. Our room was wonderful, garden view., Everything was perfect, and comfortable. I do not very often give excellent ratings but they come very close.

We stayed at this hotel one evening g while Ina group trip. The staff could not have been more helpful. They stored many large pieces of luggage (8 large bicycle boxes) and cheerfully drove us with their shuttle to the airport. Only issue was a sign on the front door "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone". See attached photo. Not clear what constitutes a violation - it should be spelled out and it's a bit eerie of an earlier, discriminatory era. The front desk staff said it was to protect them against belligerent guests. Fine. Spell that out and remove doubts of reserving judgment to deny service based on race, sex, sexual orientation or religious preference.

very clean accommodations. Employees were helpful & polite. Breakfast was ok, but I left at 6:30am. There was yogurt & pastries, one kind of cereal & when I asked for them cold bagels. Actually, for that hour of the am, it was ok!

Very clean and comfortable. Room was really nice with a balcony facing the pool/courtyard. very welcoming. Very close to highways to take us into downtown and to the nearby waterfalls. for the airport being so close, it was not noisy.

From the driver who picked us up at the Rental Car lot to the persons who checked us in and out everything was great. Very comfortable beds and very quiet room. Room was very clean and well taken care of. Good location with a restaurant right next door.

this is an excellent motel, near the PDX Airport. The prices are good and the staff also excellent. The hotel was clean, the breakfast good and they have a swimming pool and fitness center. They also have 24 hours shuttle, which was very convenient.

If you are looking for the convenience of being by the airport this is for you. Otherwise, not. Very noisy rooms and the west side of the building has rooms that literally backs onto the on ramp of the freeway. Plus side they have a shuttle that will pick you up from the airport. Rooms are quite large and if you are lucky enough to bag one that has a garden view its quite pretty looking into the pool. We were not so lucky. Breakfast was actually pretty good. Eggs, bacon, and sausage and of course the waffle maker. Coffee was hot which is always good and also had a nice selection on sweet rolls too. For those who like yogurt, fruit and cereal they have that too. We spent 2 nights here and I wish we would have done an Airbnb. You really do get what you pay for.

We had driven 4 hours to get to this hotel so we could get up early (3:00 AM) to catch a 5:45 AM flight. The staff was friendly and attentive. The hotel was quiet. Although we did not use it, the shuttle service was readily available. We will stay here again when the need arises.

Stayed here for the first night that we arrived in Portland. Our flight got in late and we called the hotel for the shuttle to pick us up. Being that it was near 11pm, the shuttle took about 15-20 minutes to arrive and it was a quick trip to the Inn. The rooms are clean and provided a clean, safe place to stay before starting on our 10 day driving trip around the state. The only downside was that our room was close to the reception desk so in the morning we were woken up the sounds of travelers checking out and talking. Definitely would return if we need a quick, easy to the airport hotel to stay at.

I would use this hotel again, despite it's slight shortcomings. It was clean, the desk staff was very pleasant, there were good mattresses, and it was adequate for our needs. The rooms are a little cramped. And I use the AC/heater as my source of white noise. There was no way to set it to be on throughout the night consistently. And when it went off, the room felt 'close' without the flow of air. If that's not your issue, I would recommend this for it's ease of access and proximity to the airport.

I needed a room for a one night business stay with short notice. I considered another nearby property but realized when I visited that the property and the staff weren't going to work for me. I walked across the street and was able to get a great room at a great value with early check in. There was some updating going on inside, but the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Sadly, I had to depart very early, but when I return, I'd be happy to stay here again. I really appreciated the room, the friendly staff, and the convenient location.

My husband and I needed to be by the airport and had never been to Portland. We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by the most amazing staff. They were so enthusiastic and helpful with our stay. they even had delicious cookies for all.

This motel is conveniently located near the Portland Airport right off Interstate 205. While free shuttle service is not available for 24 hours, it is available fairly late into the evening. We were grateful for that since our plane was delayed and the shuttle was still available. The driver was friendly and the same person who checked us in. The rooms were spacious and clean. The complimentary breakfast was above average. I wish that I could go into more detail, but after 14 hours or more of travel we hit the sack. Suffice it to say that we left the motel the next morning with a very positive impression of the establishment.

After the many good reviews of this hotel we decided to stay here during our recent visit to Portland. I have only good things to say about this hotel. Facility is lovely, rooms big and bed was very comfortable.Breakfast had something for everyone. They even had small omelettes ! Staff was most helpful and during our 5 day stay each time we came back to the hotel from sightseeing our room was always nice and clean. Being so close to the light rail was also a plus. If you decide to stay here I don't think you will be disappointed.

This was a very nice place to stay that is near the airport and has the trimet light rail located within a five minute walk. The rooms were well kept. The bathroom was small, but was clean and functional. The bed was soft and I slept very well. The staff even provided me a fan since I like white noise. The staff was friendly and helpful. Connie was one employee that strived to make my stay very pleasant. The breakfast was hot and had good variety. I would stay there again.

Pony Soldier has all the comforts of home, including big screen TV, comfortable beds, microwave, frig, excellent breakfast offerings and proximity to the airport. highly recommend. Too bad there is such a high local tax which adds considerably to the reasonable room rate.

We stayed here on our night before flying to Mexico. Staff was awesome cookies for the kids in a nice warm pool. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable on the Internet worked great. Elmers restaurant right next-door provided an awesome prime rib dinner.

The hotel was very pleasant to the eye, the staff were very friendly upon our arrival, gave us choices as to the point system, and made our stay better than normal. The room was very large, unlike most of our hotel stays, and made it more pleasant and comfortable. One of the best amenities of BW hotels is the added value of having breakfast on the house, which saves us time and money.

Enjoyed our stay at the Pony Soldier Inn with our 3 grandchildren. The rooms were clean and breakfast was great! We were able to board the Maxine close to the hotel. The staff was great with the kids!

Rose picked us up at the airport. She is so friendly and helpful. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. This is our second stay at Pony. It is close to the Metro which can get you anywhere. Will return again.

We enjoyed the hotel. the closeness to the airport and the comfort of the room. The bed was comfortable. The room was a great size. The staff was great and professional. The breakfast was very good. We will stay here again. The hotel is right off the freeway and a quick and easy hop to wherever you need to be.

Our family of six were traveling through Portland on our way to Oahu. We had a fourteen hour layover between connecting flights. This hotel is close to the airport and offers a free shuttle to and from the airport. They also offer a complete breakfast in the mornings. Plus there is a family resturant right next door which we ate dinner at upon our arrival.

Old property has good bones, fabulous landscaping and pool courtyard. Recommend you ask for a room facing the courtyard as it was quiet and pretty. All ice machines are permanently out of order forcing an off-putting visit to the front desk for ice. Staff was not especially professional. Stayed in two different rooms and both had noisy HVAC and dirty curtains. One room had no chairs on the balcony and huge splotches of dirt on the glass door that apparently nobody will clean. Décor is dated and furniture quite worn except the recliners and beds that seem newer and are comfortable. Pillows were awful old lumpy balls. They make a deal about being smoke free, but I could swear I smelled smoke in our room. Overall, things were functional and it was OK. Breakfast was standard and plentiful. We got a good price and the location was convenient for our travel plans. Ate at Elmer's next door.

Everything was over the top great. Great staff.very helpful. Every time i saw anybody they were working hard. cleaning and smiling like they loved their jobs. Nice to see.I would stay there again anytime.

This facility was like every Best Western facility I've stayed at in the last few years - clean, comfortable, well maintained, and staffed with pleasant helpful people. I recommend it to any traveler in the Portland area.

I spend well over 250 days a year on the road as a traveling service technician. Almost always staying at Best Westerns. With that being said, this was my first stay at the Portland OR Pony Soldier Inn. I had to keep calling in and informing them that I was going to be a later and later arrival due to my flight delays. They was so understanding, helpful, and accommodating of my situation. What a great hotel!!!! I so look forward to my next stay.

This hotel has been modernized and now provides a stay which one associates with hotels costing much more. Breakfast has varieties for all tastes and is "what I have come to expect" from Best Western.

The location is close to the airport. Access to the property is sometimes a little difficult during rush-hour, but the rooms are clean, comfortable, and quiet. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. My favorite place to stay when I'm in Portland.

Was very impressed with Sarah at the front desk. I came in from the East coast so I arrived before check in. Stopped at the desk the first time and was told by another person that my room was not ready. Went next door to have lunch....came back and asked Sarah if my room was ready. Initially she told me another hour, however, she looked at another option by switching my room with one that has been already cleaned!! I travel about 22 weeks out of the year...great to see some properties still have that great service level. My great appreciation to Sarah!! She made my entire stay.

Traveling solo and not renting a car as usual, the room was great, quiet and roomy and the shuttle was on time, helped me with my luggage and the driver was even friendly. Front desk staff was helpful and very professional making sure I had what I needed. Would stay again.

We needed to pick up someone at Portland Airport, so we chose the location for thist, We have stayed here before. Staff is wonderful. Check in was easy. They also had cookies. What a nice touch. We had a king size room with comfortable king size bed and lounge chair. There is also a desk and TV, refrigerator, and microwave. While the ironing board is awkward - we moved it to use the closet - we found the small size room perfect for our nights's stay. There is also a patio area. On the 2nd floor there is balcony area. We also used the swimming pool and jacuzzi. Both are nice. Towels are furnished by the pool. They have a continental breakfast in morning. It is also a couple of minute's walk to Elmers Restaurant. Parking is free. Internet speed is good.

So we needed a place to stay before our early morning flight, and Pony Soldier fit the bill. We were braced for seedy or shabby, with sticky carpet - you know the drill. Nothing like that here. Very clean, nice beds, great courtyard pool, courteous and attentive service, and good carpet even. We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed on the first floor of the hotel and we could actually hear the people at the front desk when they laughed. Next time upper floor. Nice room and adequate for staying one night as we left for Wyoming the next day. They have a continental breakfast in the mornings and we left our car there while we were away. Courtesy shuttle the airport and a very nice gal that took us to and brought us back from the airport. Nice to be able to leave our car if we are flying out of town.

I chose this hotel since I wanted to be near the airport. It had a decent rate and good reviews. And it was pretty much what I expected. Some of the common areas could be in better repair. The staff were hit and miss as far as friendliness and helpfulness. The room was nice and comfortable. Our room had a view over a dumpy trailer park and we were approached by a panhandler in the parking lot But it is hard for the hotel to control those things. I didn't feel unsafe. Breakfast was very nice. The hot tub was good. I would stay there again if I needed to be near Portland airport.

This was my first stay in Portland and decided to follow "trusted and true" ... A Best Western Hotel. I chose the Pony Soldier Inn due to it's convenient location fairly close to the Airport and a direct route to my appointments on Sandy Blvd. Although it's an older area of town, the Best Western offered safe, clean and well appointed rooms. This hotel is a solid build and my room was extremely quiet. Their complimentary breakfast offers generous selections of both hot and cold choices. For guests who require a wider selection there is an Elmer's Restaurant conveniently located next to the hotel. Elmer's offers very good selections for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed my King room on the garden/courtyard side on the 2nd floor. All staff were friendly and welcoming while maintaining a professional approach. They were respectful of privacy and the need for a restful stay.

We prefer to fly out of PDX rather than SEA and the Pony Soldier Inn is a clean, comfortable, convenient place to stay when we do. It is close to the airport, provides us with parking for a nominal additional charge, delivers us to and picks us up from the airport on our return.

OMG it was so nice to be treated as a valued customer even though we had never been there before. Crystal at the front desk when I complemented her on her positive attitude said she would have to blame her mother who always taught her to treat strangers with respect. She could deliver some needed inservice lessons at another Best Western I had been at in Oregon. The entire staff has apparently been trained to treat the guests with respect and to help them make their visit enjoyable. The hotel is in the process of renewal but we had one of the original rooms and you could tell that it has been well taken care of although the current Snowflake generation might call it dated. Everything worked and it was very clean. Thank you again Crystal and Theresa.

This is a nice property, with nice rooms, very close to PDX, but why or why do they only provide giant pillows to sleep on???!!!! Most hotels now provide a range of pillow sizes, but according to staff they only provide these overstuffed pillows. My husband and I slept terribly and woke up with headaches- so disappointing! Just when we thought Best Western was coming around.

We chose the Pony Soldier since they offered transport to the airport. Comfy beds, elevators for ease and super nice staff. Ease of check in was much appreciated. Excellent room and even a nice breakfast, we'll be back!

I have had ONLY good experiences at the Pony Solfder in the past 8 months that I have visited Portland. As I plan to contine my visits to Portland in the forseeable future, I plan to continue my stay at the Pony Soldier.

Great location to nearby business for food and services but especially to avoid traffic congestion in the morning. Professional and friendly staff, average breakfast service. Took a night to get use to cricket sounds from the courtyard area which I believe they are bought and brought in by property??

We were in room two21 on the east side. It seemed like the older portion of the hotel. They allowed us an early checkin. It was a large room but the bathroom isn't 2 person friendly. The room had a small frig, microwave and a coffee maker. An ironing board was provided if you really want to look your best. A blow dryer was in the bathroom. The pool wasn't open but the adjacent hot tub was boiling with steam. The ice machine on the 2nd floor provided some excellent ice. The staff members were pleasant and helpful. When we returned our rental to Budget they came and got us. And the women that staffed the breakfast area were great. Pony Soldier had one of the best selections of breakfast foods of our 9 hotel trip. it was orderly and clean and not confining. We enjoyed our 2 days there. But there was a slight dirty sock odor in our corner of the hotel. My wife says I have a bloodhound nose but it just didn't smell clean. The train and highway traffic didn't present a noise problem. The shuttle to the airport was convenient. Thanks Best Western!

This was the least favorite of all 5 Best Westerns' on the West Coast that we've stayed in. While its Ok for one night (at exuberant price of $150), the property is old and shabby, the room is very outdated and the bathroom did not feel very clean, but it might have been the feeling left by broken tiles and some dark spots on the wall. The curtains were really dirty. The weird configuration of the room meant that you could not watch TV comfortably and the 'view' out the window was to an adjacent trailer park. Needless to say, the curtains were drawn at once, never to be opened again. Staff was brisk, but good: we've received a few useful recommendations. Its not necessarily a bad place to rest your weary head for one night, just don't expect any extras.

It is clean and well maintained. It is on a main drag, near the Grotto. The breakfast is good. The pool wasn't open, however it seemed like a nice area. The front desk people were very helpful and courteous.

Can't go wrong staying here! Nice hotel, clean room, kind staff, good breakfast, and great fitness room! The fitness room has a sauna and there is both cardiovascular equipment and weights. The hotel is close to the airport too.

Room was very comfortable. Location was not the best because we were at the end of the hall next to the outside door and a couple of very loud groups came in during the night...one at 1:00am and another at 3:00am. Otherwise, all was fine. Nice breakfast items and seating area.

We picked this hotel for a family vacation stay because of the great reviews on TripAdvisor, but after this and one other similar experience, I worry that Trip Advisor has been overrun with false reviews. It is in a very busy and not so nice area, with a trailer/RV park right behind it. The entire hallway smelled like body odor and the room smelled of some strange mix of cleaner and cigarette smoke (non-smoking room). Even after leaving the windows open for a couple of hours, it did not dissipate. There were also holes in our screens like they had been poked through for a smoker. The carpets were horribly stained and the furniture very old and dated. We are not the pickiest people I know when it comes to hotels - we typically stay in something like a La Quinta or Best Western and they are fine. But this really felt like staying at a Motel 6 for $145 a night. It was so bad and we felt unsafe enough that we gave up our free night the next night to move to another hotel. They are remodeling, which created construction noise and parking problems, but perhaps the rooms will be nicer after it is done. However, the location is still not good. The one thing that we were happy with was the breakfast - a lot of variety, including hot sandwiches, eggs, bacon, potatoes, etc. As someone who can't eat gluten or dairy, I was still able to have a full meal.

This is a very convenient hotel for a stay if you are using Portland International Airport. They have a stay-park-fly offering that is reasonable and better than parking at one the airport lots or nearby commercial lots. I use it when I have a very early morning flight as they provide an (almost) on demand shuttle service for the very early departures. Recommend highly.

Everything about the stay was great,...room, expense, comfort.... but the breakfast was unorganized. There was too little food and too seating, some people even took their food to their rooms. Shouldn't be difficult to fix it. We'll stay there again if the opportunity arises.

The decorating is a little out of date but the facility has been well maintained, is clean, and professionally managed. The hotel was being worked on when I was there but you would never have noticed it but for the yellow safety tapes. Check in and out where smooth, wake up was on time and the limo was prompt and quick to the airport. My grandson had to see where I was staying and they made sure he got a cookie---nicely done.

My family and I were traveling to Phoenix and took advantage of the park and fly program. The hotel staff, especially Sara, did an awesome job to ensure we got to the airport timely. The hotel stay was just pretty good... it's in need of some serious updates. Standard room, but the beds were a little hard and the pillows were rediculouly small. Strange. The hotel offers a nice continental breakfast with something for everyone, but it's the typical fare. Very pleasant breakfast staff person who offered to help with waffle maker and any other food item we needed. The hotel appears to be undergoing some remodel, and that is nice to see. It's located only 2 miles from the airport which makes it very convenient. Price was right for this stay, I would probably stay again.

Every one is so nice when you walk in. The beds are great, even my husband who has a back injury can get a good nights rest. They are continuing their remodel through 2020, its nice that every time I stay it gets better and better. Their breakfast includes sausage, eggs, and the traditional spread... one of the better hotel continental breakfasts I have had. They do have an outdoor pool and hot tub, along with snacks for late night fixes. Well worth its value and 10 minutes from Portland Airport!

I liked how the hotel is close to almost everything. One of the several things I loved was how comfortable the bed is. Also, the staff is really sweet! Definitely coming back when I go for another visit!

I needed a hotel for one night near PDX due to my very early departure. Check in (and out the following morning) was quick and easy and my room was quiet and very comfortable (it overlooked the central pool area). I cannot comment on the breakfast as I left too early to partake.

The hotel is being renovated. The rooms are being upgraded as well as the whole property. Am looking forward to seeing the new upgrades. We love staying here. It is a convenient location, close to the airport as well as MAX.

If you allow smoking in your hotel, which should not happen- separate the rooms from each other. Last visit put us in a stinky room ( non smoking) next to a smoking one. Could not get smell out and don't know what's worse the perfume spray to get it out or the smoke! I like Best Western but not this one

Overall stay was great. Evening crew at the front desk was great. Rachel found us a better rate, made sure we were settled and made us feel at home. Breakfast was one of the best I have ever had at a hotel/motel. Room was clean, hot tub was warm and clean. Close to the Airport and shopping. Highly recommend.

We picked this hotel for close access to the airport. There was a bit of traffic noise early in the evening, which we expected, but it ended by 9 p.m. We were comfortable, and enjoyed the restaurant next door very much. Also, it was close to a gas station.

Stayed with the family two nights here and can say that we wouldn't stay here again. Arrived late in the evening. Surrounding area seems a tad sketchy. There were several men outside, and inside the hotel that were heavily intoxicated when we were checking in. Walking to our room through the hallway were unpleasant odors, the room didn't look to bad but it was right off the main road, and the carpet felt dirty. Be prepared to show your room key at breakfast as they have issues with random people coming in and eating the food (the people next to our table were told to leave their food and the hotel when they couldn't provide a key, or room number).

Our room was comfy, clean, well-appointed and quiet. Good, prompt shuttle service to PDX. Desk staff was very helpful. Restaurants nearby. Breakfast included. About 2 miles from PDX but only 5-10 minutes to the airport. We Would stay at the Pony Soldier again.

The people where very helpful, have shuttle to the Portland airport very good.Breakfast was wonderful great variety of food to choose from. Free cookies anytime, some days. Rooms were clean and the bed was good, very friendly people work there.

Having sampled the other Best Western that looks close to the hotel on the map, this one is definitely my first choice. It is very convenient to the highway (205) but not so close as to be noisy. Elmer's restaurant right next door has great food and this place has a very good breakfast with plenty of options.

The location of the property is excellent. We normally have to leave early to catch a ferry from Port Angeles and it's a quick couple of right turns to the highway. We have used the Pony Soldier for a number of years to visit an uncle who used to live very close to the hotel and even though he has moved, we will continue to stay here as the hotel, the staff and the location is wonderful.

Very nice people working the front desk , very help full , would have give it 5 stars but does need some up date , very clean rooms . Would stay again if ever in the area , very easy to get to airport

I could not have been happier with my choice. The friendly,animated voice at the other end of my call from the airport, conveyed the type of service I received from the van driver, front desk clerk and everyone I met on staff. A clean comfortable room and bed was all i needed to complete an enjoyable stay.

I stayed at the Best Western Pony Soldier in for one night, before I was due to fly home. I found it perfectly acceptable, if unexceptional. The lobby was substantially nicer than the rooms, although there was nothing wrong with the rooms ... just a little dated. Two weirdnesses, one good, one bad. The good -- the room actually had a recliner in it. A recliner! I almost never see those in mid-range hotels, and usually not in high end hotels either. The bad -- all the pillows on the bed were not full-size, they were small, square pillows. In pillowcases. I've actually never even seen those small pillows on a hotel bed before. If I needed a hotel near the Portland airport, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. But I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there.

Best hotel near the airport without hearing the planes. Most accommodating staff from airport pick up to air port drop off and the in between. Stayed four different times, each time we were welcomed warmly and professionally.

This was my 1st contact with this hotel and when I call in the desk clerk was extremely busy. She explained her problem to me so I would understand why we were being interrupted so many times. But even with all the interruptions: she listen to my story, resolved my problems and booked the reservation. This is important because earlier that day I had been told by another guest at the Best Western where I was staying not to use this facility as the staff were rude and abrupt. I found the opposite to be true! After I turned in my rental car. I called the hotel talked to the Van Drive, told her where I was and that I would be taking their shuttle to the air port and would need to be picked up there. Her response was; "Don't do that, I will be there in 10 minutes to get you". True to her word 10 minutes later there she was. This is important because although I am not severely disabled I am 72 years old and very much appreciated not having to transfer my luggage more than once. But in this case I didn't handle it at all the rental car agent unloaded it for me and took it to the waiting area for me. Then when the hotel van diver got there she loaded it, at the hotel she unloaded it and even brought it to the front desk for me.l.

A very nice luxury room facing the pool in the patio. a part of the bed you have a comfortable working desk and an armchair for reading. A balcony with chairs and tis is considered a standard room/ Very kind and helpful personal. An excellent breakfast. the hotel has a nice lobby. Very good internet connection. The hotel runs a shuttle to the airport and back. The location is ideal as it is close to main roads. Parking is available. The hotel rooms are maintained very well. Although it is close to main roads you hardly hear the noise. Opposite the hotel a shall gasoline where you can buy food or refuel your rented car before returning it.

I always stay at the Pony Soldier Inn when visiting Portland. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and it is so convenient to PDX. My family was all heading to Salem for the weekend but met at Pony Soldier and spent the night before going south. We had a nice dinner in Portland and again, this Best Western is easy access to all major thoroughfares in the Portland area.

Very convenient and close to PDX. Hotel van for a ride to the airport. Nice restaurant right next door for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Courteous and helpful staff. Large room, and we always love the Best Western microwave and refrigerator in our room.

We started using BW inns because so many were pet friendly although this particular inn isn't. Because they are also individually owned, we found a variation in the quality of our visits. This particular BW is one of the nicer ones although not of new construction it is well maintained with a good first impression. Great staff, food and location with parking and close to PDX which is why we selected it for a stay after an exhausting flight from Europe. Recommended.

Stayed here for a couple of nights after a long flight, as we wanted somewhere that was close to the airport but convenient for the freeways. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, which is all we wanted. Breakfast was a little busy (it was the weekend), and the hotel a touch on the noisy side (it's on a busy main road), but it didn't affect our sleep. There's a nice pool area to sit around, and it's really handy for the metro into downtown Portland. Gas station next door with a great walk in beer cellar, and a few shops including a discount supermarket a block or so away. The decors a bit old fashioned, but the wifi signal was excellent (and free of course). One big positive - we arrived just after noon after a 10 hour flight from Europe, and they checked us in without question. Check in is normally 3pm. That deserves an extra star in itself. Reasonable rates, and a good choice if you're heading away from Portland rather than downtown (where the hotel prices are $$$$$$). Would I stay here again if I flew into PDX? Certainly.

I wish I could have given this hotel the rating of 'good', in our opinion it isn't 'very good' but 'average' is a bit harsh. We stayed at this hotel for two nights during our holiday in Oregon, one night before picking up our hire car and the second on returning the car to the depot. Sometimes I feel that hotel reviews benefit more from a single visit than two. A return visit offers a comparative between welcomes, registration, bedrooms, breakfasts etc. On our first visit we had spent the day down town and used the red line Max Light getting off at Parkrose/Sumner. On exiting the bus station area turn left when reaching the road, the hotel is a very short walk and on the right hand side, just by the crossroads. Our first registration was processed professionally and quickly then a query about our second booking for later in the week was sorted and we were booked onto the complimentary shuttle bus to the airport for the following morning. Our second registration wasn't as personable but still acceptable. What we found surprising was that two receptionists carried out a personal conversation on both occasions whilst checking us in. This was not the only hotel on our travels where we came across this, it did strike us as discourteous. Our room on both visits was on the second floor overlooking the pool. At the end of two busy days it was relaxing to sit on our balcony (which we hadn't expected) enjoying a beer. Both rooms had a large king size bed, fridge, microwave, tv, free wi-fi, coffee maker etc. The bathroom was functional, shower over the bath, some complimentary products and thick towels. Both rooms were larger than we had anticipated and much more comfortable, but again only one easy chair. A desk chair is not as comfortable to sit in for an evening. In the morning we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast which had several hot options. Our shuttle to the airport was punctual. On hearing that we were actually going to the Budget Car Rental depot (we had intended to take the car hire shuttle from the airport) the driver took us to the Budget depot. This was a great help, saved my wife from helping to carry our luggage and gave us a head start on our journey. On returning our hire car and after a phone call to the hotel we were collected from the car rental company by the courtesy hotel shuttle bus. But, and there is nearly always a but after a second visit. We try, as much as possible, to sleep with a window slightly open, but in this case our room was flooded by the smell of onions being cooked first thing in the morning. We felt that the amount of bedding wasn't sufficient on either stay, there was no blanket available in the room. At 7:55 a.m on our second visit we had housekeeping knocking the door wanting to clean the room. We were not awake, or rather we were after their insistent knocking. As with so many reservations for hotels close to an airport loyalty can sometimes go out of the window when price, additional extras and accessibility are considered. Would we stay at this hotel again, yes, it offered everything we wanted but we would also check out the opposition.

Staff was always very helpful, gave us lots of information on using mass transit and possible areas of interest in Portland. Room appeared clean and was comfortable. Convenient to PDX and had no problems with the shuttle either to or from the airport. Complimentary breakfast was okay, not exactly gourmet but really, one can't expect that! Overall, not bad, our stay was comfortable and I would stay here again.

It's within 3 miles of the airport or just one exit away. Easy on, easy off. I had a rental car but they offer a shuttle to the airport. There's a gas station across the street to fill up before returning the car. There's an Elmer's Restaurant right in the parking lot to pick up dinner or eat there. The room was big and very clean. The front desk staff was friendly and seemed like they were interested in me, which was nice. They offered a wake up call and I used it as a back up to my phone alarm. It was right off the highway. Very much recommend.

We arrived early for check in and the room wasn't ready, so they held our luggage and since we were hungry, they suggested we go next door to Elmer's for lunch and they would try to have a room ready when we returned, and it was. Our room had a comfortable king size bed that overlooked the pool and courtyard area, so it was very nice and not noisy at all. A hot breakfast was included daily and Marisol, who was in charge of preparing all the food, did an excellent job of providing a variety of options. We had omelets with several different fillings, waffles with every topping imaginable from chocolate chips to fruit toppings and everything in between. Plenty of choices from an assortment of breads to pastries, fruit, coffee, juice and hot chocolate,as well. There was suppose to be coffee available around the clock in the lobby and we were told they usually have cookies in the evening, but they never did have cookies and although we heard guests asking for them, they were told that the staff was too busy to make them, even though at times there were three people behind the counter. They did, however, replenish the coffee when I asked about it. The front desk did go out of their way to chart out a route to Astoria for us since mapquest didn't do a very good job of it. Also, with only one computer for the guests to use, there were many times that we had to sit around and wait to be able to use it. Free parking and the added plus of being only minutes away from the airport or a very short walk to the MAX (public transportation system) made this an ideal location to stay while in Portland.

Originally booked to be convenient for early flight departure - have since discovered that it consistently has excellent amenities & staff. Very comfortable room/bed - quiet and clean. Now it is my first option when looking for a 'hotel near PDX'.

Called the hotel directly to obtain Park n Fly. Rate was great. Car was happy and safe. Would definitely use them again. Love their shuttle. They have a lending library that accepts books from guests. What a great idea! I donated six Took one. Great selection. Only problem is the number of characters in the review. Two hundred minimum is a bit much.

Spent our last 2 nights of a 3 week Oregon/Northern California 45th anniversary trip here . Desk staff checking in , on duty evening & daytime & checkout were awesome (Sarah , Dee , Rachel and Amit) . Cleaning staff (Letty) was also excellent .All were intent on making guests stay enjoyable . Hotel was clean and up to date . Room was clean and well appointed . Outdoor pool and hot tub the end of September was a pleasant surprise ! Good breakfast and a 10 minute free shuttle to the airport . Would highly recommend this hotel and return ourselves .

We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of our stay in Oregon, went on to Newport, and then returned for one night before flying home. The first stay was great. The room was very conveniently located in the hotel. Fairly quiet, although there is some outside traffic noise, but not too bad. When we returned for one night before flying home it was a different story. The room was extremely noisy due to the location of the room being right next to the freeway. We asked for a different room, but I was told they were sold out. I would stay in this hotel again, however, I would request a different location and would hope it could be confirmed before arrival. One more thing I would caution about....we were charged a higher rate than was confirmed on my confirmation. So, make sure you check the rate when you check in. They did change it, but again, when I got the final bill, it was incorrect. Other than that, the hotel had a nice lobby and the rooms were spacious. The breakfast very mediocre at best. But, I would stay at this hotel again.

The BW Pony Soldier Inn is very large and the rooms are also. It is about a 7-8 minute drive to the airport, which surprised me. I'm in and out of the PDX often and usually stay closer to the airport but this was a super fast location! The rooms are very large. Ask for a room over-looking the pool or at least away from the freeway/street noise. I believe most rooms have a microwave and refrig. There is also a large bathroom. Very impressed.
