I stay at this hotel for business, hotel is very clean , very friendly staff rooms are comfortable never had a problem with noise at the hotel never had a problem with the wifi i really enjoy staying in a hotel where you can walk in on the next visit are two and the staff calls you by name

"Great Staff and quiet area"

When we first tried to locate the Magnolia Manor Best Western we almost passed by it. The area in which it is located seems to have gone thru a tough time keeping the area energized. The Best Western (BW) looks like an abandoned building as you drive in and see the back/side of the building. However, once you moved around the corner you can see the BW is really there. The staff is what makes this BW work well. They are very friendly and seek to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Having stayed in a few hundred BWs over the years, this was only the 3rd time the staff called after we were settled in our room so they could verify if anything was needed or if they had any concerns. The room was comfortable, except for the bathroom. The toilet was placed at an angle and that makes it very difficult to sit on the throne without having your side become part of the sink top. Not sure why the angled the toilet as there was room to enter and exit the shower. In the morning we walked over for the breakfast and were delighted to see scrambled eggs, diced potatoes with peppers and sausage mixed in, biscuits and gravy. All of the food was prepared well and was very good. The juices were also very good (not overpowered with pulp or too watery). Overall one of the best breakfasts we've had at a BW or Fairfield Inn this trip (lasting 3 weeks). Don't be persuaded to move on to a more aesthetically pleasing hotel. Once you get past that you'll find one of the best BW staffs I've seen in quite some time.

"Great Service"

I was a bit hesitant to stay here when I arrived, due to a boarded up building at the entrance of the hotel. But the front desk was professional and provided great care for me, which made me feel comfortable. DO NOT Discount this place due to the closed building. I would recommend this hotel, as the service was beyond excellent. I have stayed at Hilton and Marriott properties before and this property had more to offer, due to the care they provided to their guests.

"Needs TLC...Very Smoky"

Price was cheap...but you get what you pay for. My non-smoking room was very smoky. . This was extremely distressing to me. People at the desk the following morning were like, oh well. Smokers toss their butts just about everywhere. Breakfast bar was subpar. Scrambled eggs were horrible.

Nothing can beat the price! We stayed here for one night as a quick recharge for our road trip. Everything is decent as expected. Staffs are friendly. Great value. Breakfast is ok. The hotel is located right next to the highway. Very convenient.

The outside was still under repair, but the inside is 1st class ! The beds, bathroom, Tv, icebox, lighting, staff, and breakfast were all excellent ! I would definitely stay here again ,Worth every cent to get away from home !

"Dirty bed"

First room I was given the pillowcases and bed had orange stains. So after pulling back the covers, found orange crumbs on the sheets. So when I switched rooms, i found hair under the covers, so I just bought my own blanket in and slept on top of their covers. Even the ‘fresh remote' cover, was dirty. The breakfast was decent and good.

This Best Western was a nice place to rest my head for one night they are places to eat nearby if you want to walk a Waffle House next door and across a very busy street is Burger King KFC Taco Bell , the room was clean i say it was a descent place to stay.

"Loud and dirty."

This seemed to be mostly a place where businesses put up noisy men who left in large loud trucks in the early morning. It was also very dirty, it looked clean but when I did my usual sanitizing the rag came up very dirty. It did not seem to be up to brand standards. The final thing was that the ?manager/assistant manager knocked on our door in the morning acknowledging that we had the do not disturb sign up and then asked if workers could come into the room to change the lock that day. I asked if it could be the next day and he said yes. No one warned us that this was even a possibility when we checked in the night before. We came back to find that the locks had been changes without our permission and our room now smelled very strongly of smoke. They claimed that he hadn't had a chance to tell the workers to wait. There was no real apology at any time for these issues, or any compensation at all. there were some other issues but I did not bother to report them as it seemed useless to me. I would not stay here as a traveler or a family.

"Felt kind of icky"

Overall the place felt dirty and unkempt. Nicely situated between several casinos and an adult video store. Walked in to check in and the desk clerk was watching a reality show about brutal murders. On positive side, the room was clean and the breakfast was very good.

"The worst Best Western I've ever stayed in."

First: With a boarded up former restraunt out front it was hard to tell if the hotel was open. Second: Painting over missing bathroom moulding is not a real improvement. Third: As a Platinum member, I've stayed at many other BW's. This place offers the worst breakfast of any I've ever been to. Give this stop a miss!

"Great weekend get away!"

A wonderful stay! We had a full weekend planned, came and went easily. The hotel layout was easy navigation, lots of parking. Right off the interstate for easy exit and return. The staff was wonderful. Everyone had a smile and greeted you quickly. The hotel rooms are well Insulated, didn't hear a peep from the other rooms/halls. The free breakfast had many options from cereal to eggs and sausage and waffles, cold yogurt, and hot coffee to muffins and pastries. filled to the brim! Our stay was perfect, we enjoyed having a clean, well-maintained hotel to return to when our adventures for the day was over. Defiantly recommend! If you have any concerns during your stay ask for the manager of the hotel. We had a brief chat during check out and he was very polite and was a joy to speak to! Great hotel at an AMAZING price! Only regret? We couldn't stay longer and it was too cold to go swimming haha! A family of five, children under five. Was a wonderful trip!

The room was nice and clean and the price was very affordable. Next to the highway and the breakfast was really good. The pancake machine was fun to watch. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend!

"Decent Hotel"

My family & I stayed here for 1 night on our way to Florida. The room was clean but did smell a little musty. This smell went away once we turned on the air conditioning. The room had a small fridge & microwave in it. Was close to restaurants & stores. Breakfast was good with eggs, sausage, waffles, pancake machine, cereals, juices, fruits, coffee, etc. we would likely stay here again if we we needed to.

"Fair price for an older, well maintained motel"

One night stay in a 2 double beds room. Room and bathroom were small, but very comfortable. The building and rooms appear to have been renovated in the past few years and are well done. They need lamps that have additional plugs built in. I unplugged the lamp and clock so I could plug in my cell phone and CPAP machine. Breakfast bar was the usual, but I'd never seen a push-button pancake maker before. Unfortunately the pancakes are small and flat when they come out at the end of the machine so I had to revisit the bar for different food because I was still hungry.

Very easy access off Hwy10.The exterior needs work to attract patrons but once inside the service, comfort and especially the breakfast makes it a great stop for travellers! Have stayed 2 times in past 2mo. & and not disappointed.

I loved this hotel. nice people, best breakfast, but the bed hurt me so bad I could hardly move the next day. we loved the stay there except for the bed. I really would have loved to stay more nights there with a different bed.

Very friendly staff. Couldn't get door card to work ( totally my fault) and front desk clerk came to room to assist even when I finally figured out what I did wrong. Room was clean and roomy. If visiting the area definitely go see the Vulcan cast iron statue on Red Mountain. Very interesting piece of history and not expensive on the family budget.

This is an older hotel behind a boarded up Shoney's so first impression is not so great. The hotel is three separate buildings with a very nice pool area. The breakfast was excellent and the bed was great. Bathroom was small with a odd placed toilet but clean. The room was small and there was no seating area so you have to sit on bed or desk chair.

Older property but very well maintained. I was traveling through and this was a last minute booking. Breakfast was nice. Room and property was clean and well maintained. Only suggestion would be the bed in that particular room may need to be replaced soon. But overall was great

The Best Western Magnolia Manor in Port Allen LA., is truly the leader in providing pristine hotel/room accommodations. My stay at the Best Western Magnolia Manor during the timeframe of 11/10/2017 - 11/12/2017 was "excellent". The staff was amazing along with the superior continental breakfast. Have used six brand of hotel this year. The excellent service/product provided by Best Western is great for the price. The break fast is exemplary, the staff are friendly, and the internet is fast. Recommended for quality family time at low cost.

"Wrong side of Mississippi"

A good value motel just a few kms from Baton Rouge, but on the wrong side of the Mississippi River as the traffic over the bridge was quite congested and slow at times. Just off the I-10 but awkward turning into the motel area as the turning area was not clearly marked. Good breakfast items and inexpensive.

"Not the best of Best Western"

We generally like Best Westerns for their quality and their individuality, but this one wasn't a favorite. More motel-like than most, our room had one wall painted with dark, shiny (semi-gloss?) paint, perhaps intended as interesting contrast but it just made the room feel dark and cheap. Our beds were a little mushier than we like. Service and breakfast were fine. We had trouble finding the entrance at night (there's no sign at road level), and we mistakenly turned onto a freeway on-ramp instead. Ten miles to the first exit and 10 miles back. Yikes!

"Good for one night stay"

This is an older remodeled hotel and rooms are very small. With a king sized bed desk/dresser/and TV stand the was little room for much else. The room was clean and comfortable and was fine for a one night stay. It was an easy off and back on to I 10.

For several year, after trying different hotels in the Baton Rouge area, this is my very favorite! I get a lot of work done in the room; it like having "away from home" office. It offers the best value and has easy/quick access to downtown Baton Rouge with good Security, & Excellent Staff/Service. Though the years, the owners have continued to upgrade and improve this facility.

"WHAT A JOKE!"

I booked the room thru Hotels.com. Easy enough. We get to hotel and it all goes downhill from there. First, my wife has to use a wheelchair temporarily from a foot surgery. All they have is upstairs and they have no elevator. Ugh, strike one. We get to the room and find hard crusty mud all over the floor. Not ours but somehow housekeeping managed to not vacuum this up. Really! It was in clumps in many places. Strike two! Then I wanted to get a couple of sodas from the vending machine so I go downstairs and the machine only takes $1 bill or coins. I put in 2 quarters and notice they aren't registering. Then, they won't return either. So I go to the main lobby which we were put at the farthest building to the back. Another ugh! One of the reception ladies gets quarters and goes with me to the vending machine. We get to the entry door and the door card won't read. Oh boy! Luckily one of the relatives stays in that building so they came and opened the door. The vending machine then ate her quarters too. I say " you did bring some $1 bills too right since I told you the coins weren't registering. She just looked at me like " Oh crap" since she hadn't brought any. So 20+ minutes later I finally get the sodas and back to the room. Strike three! So in my opinion, stay elsewhere!

This hotel looks to have been updated. The rooms are super nice and clean. The breakfast is good. It also was quiet even though it's next to I-10. I didn't have any trouble at the hotel. I will definitely stay here again. AAAAAA++++++

We arrived to the hotel tired and just wanted to rest before the next day's events. The beds are much smaller than standard beds we are used to. My husband and I had no choice but to cuddle as the bed didn't seem to fit two comfortably. The outlets all had exposures through the wall and several of hem didn't work. In the bathroom the vent was falling down. It appeared that the screw was there but not properly installed and mold could be seen. The outlet in the bathroom also had exposures through the wall. The icing on the cake was my oldest getting into bed and being stuck by a random needle on the floor by the bed. It is very disheartening to have to reassure your child when you are unsure yourself of what was on the needle.

Very clean hotel, do not let the Shoney's in front of the hotel, which is closed waiver your decision to stay at this property. Staff also very helpful and available. During my stay Tropical Strom Cindy was in full effect, we never lose power.

We stayed for a week during the Women's Championship Bowing Tourney. The management and staff were wonderful, accommodating and friendly. The hotel was clean and breakfast plentiful. Don't let the closed Shoney's out front deter you from this place.

"Funeral Stay"

We rented 5 rooms for family to attend funeral following day Our room #105 was short of electrical outlets. My wife and I use CPAP machines to sleep. Had to disconnect the lamp & the clock in order access outlets. Normally the lamps have plug-ins, otherwise the rooms were great

All I wanted was some extra towels to take to the pool. The staff refused to give us any. They had been trained to do this; because I asked several different employees. Even the front desk would not give us extras.

The hotel is just off of I-10 so there is quite a bit of traffic on the highway it's on. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly. I spent a couple of nights while visiting family in the area and was pleasantly surprised. I would stay again.

"Overnight stop"

Overnight stop on our way west. No frills hotel but very clean. Eggs, bacon & sausage with pancakes for breakfast. Nice outdoor pool area. We were about 30 miles down the road when I got a call from the hotel telling me they had found my jewelry and was holding it at the front desk. Most places wait till you discover a loss, even high end hotels. I was very impressed with the staff here. That's why 4 stars. Abah(?) Was the gentleman who found and returned my wedding rings and other jewelry. He also came to our rescue earlier when we were wondering where the ice machine was. The lovely lady at the front desk was so kind and sweet as was the young woman who put out more boiled eggs for me. Thank you all.

Was not very happy when I turn into the parking lot to see a boarded up building in the front of the hotel. It just seem as if it was a run in run out motel at first look but it was very nice. The rooms are very small.

While this appears to be an older Best Western, everything was clean and in good repair. Staff was courteous and helpful. I felt secure and comfortable. I would prefer having parking just outside my door. Having to enter a foyer, hallway and then my room was the only draw-back. I iprefer doorways that face outward and not into a hallway. Otherwise, perfect stay.

We stayed in eight different hotels and a bed and breakfast on a recent road trip. Not a one of them was a loser. I attribute that to taking advice from Tripadvisor reviewers. It was particularly hard to find a good place to stay in this part of our travels, but Magnolia Manor worked out just fine. It is in an area of truck-stops and fast-food joints by the interstate highway just across the river from Baton Rouge. They are doing roadwork out front and remodeling inside, but our room was clean and quiet and orderly. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was really good. We left in morning rush hour but had little problem traveling eastbound through Baton Rouge. I am sure glad we were not going westbound. It was backed up for miles.

A group of us joined our Church to help in the flood relief for the citizens of Baton Rouge. What a tragedy!! There were not many hotels available. For the price and proximity to Baton Rouge, this did the job. After a long day of dirty, sweaty work it felt good to relax in the pool and room. Though, there was a sense of guilt in light of the thousands of Baton Rouge residents who are unable to do likewise. I would like to recognize the hotel staff who were very kind and helpful.

We stayed here on Aug 11 - 12. We called twice to advice about our late check in. Were assured it would be fine. We checked-in just before midnight (due to heavy rain on way from Atlanta). The person at the front checked us in without a problem (we booked online through Hotels.com). Unfortunately, when we went to our room, it wasn't ready. We called the front desk and the same person came over and lead us to another room in another building. This was rather inconvenient because it was still raining pretty heavily. Anyway, the room we got was of decent size - large enough for two queen beds. They're comfortable. We slept well (partly because of good AC)! There was a large flat screen TV and a mini ref. The bathroom was basic but clean. The towels were thin; the toiletries not high-end. Breakfast was just OK - edible but not high end. For example, there was an automatic tiny pancake machine.

During the recent flooding in Louisiana, James At the BW was extremely accommodating. He made sure we had rooms for our out of town crews that came down to assist our local company (Emergency Restoration Inc.) with the flood relief. Our guys felt they were treated like kings even when all they were looking for was cold a/c, hot showers, and comfy beds. Thanks James!

My 7 year old son and I were visiting a friend in Baton Rouge for just one night and wanted to stay in a simple, affordable, and easily accessible hotel off of I-10 that was west of Baton Rouge to avoid the morning traffic. We were extremely pleased by the amenities provided in our room at the Best Western Magnolia (microwave, mini fridge, coffee, etc), the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the breakfast was one of the best ones we have ever had in a hotel where it was included with the cost. In addition, the front office staff was extremely cordial and hospitable at all times. In the morning after we checked out and were already 3 hours into driving back home, my son realized that he had left his tablet in the hotel room. We called the hotel and not only did they search for it and find it in the room for us, but the manager was very kind and considerate and mailed it to us within the hour at no extra cost. I would highly recommend this hotel for their hospitality and location! Hopefully a new restaurant will open up in the building that is adjacent to the hotel as this would really add to the visual appeal.

This was a great hotel. It was close to the interstate and had quite a few food options in walking distance. The front desk clerk (James) was friendly and courteous. He answered all of our questions with a smile. They served a full breakfast and it was delicious. The breakfast area was cleaned and the food was replinished at all times. The rooms were clean. I had an issue with the toilet being stopped up but it was taken care of immediately. This a great hotel and definitely a good price. I would stay there again on my next visit for sure.

We stopped after 10+ hours driving. The price was reasonable. Our non-smoking room smelled like smoke; the thermostat was set to 60, probably to attempt to air the room out. The room was mostly clean but not white glove clean-corners, baseboards, and the refrigerator handle were grimy. Sheets were clean but the bed had a definite sag in the middle. On the other hand, breakfast was decent and the public areas of the hotel were clean. The motel staff we encountered were friendly and the front desk was efficient.

Traffic on I 10 was a mess. Unplanned stop. Rooms were clean. Pool was clean. Was a good place to stop with kids. Didn't have the breakfast because we were up and on the road very early. Bathrooms were clean, beds were okay. Air conditioner worked great. Was in the high 90's all day and most of the night. I would stay again.

Not very appealing from the outside. A vacant, boarded up building almost connected to the hotel. Rooms very small, appeared that beds were put in the rooms to accommodate sleeping only. VERY little spade between the double beds and wall/closet. This would not be my first choose if I was in the area again and wouldn't stay there again.

We did a good experience with this motel for one night. It was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. At breakfast, there was an older lady in charge, which was very friendly and refilled quickly. For American standards, there is plenty of choice at breakfast and all of it was nicely arranged.

This place is a dump. The building stunk. The room stunk. My sinuses went into overdrive when I entered. There was a stain on the sheets. The toilet didn't fush properly l didn't even unpack. I found another hotel. Of course I didn't get my money back ! They should be ashamed. I basically walked in and gave them over a100 dollars to walk in and then out of that room. The buildings around it were closed down! NEVER again! I have a horrible disdain for Best Western now. I want a refund for a room that I didn't stay in for 5 minutes. My breathing was labored with the moldy and musty smell. No possible way that there aren't bad micro organisms floating in that air.

"Couldn't get passed the smokey smell"

We stopped there Tuesday 5/10/2016 planning to spend the night. I always ask for a key to examine the room before I take it. I forget the room number but the building was on the back side of the pool. When we entered the building the smell of tobacco smoke was strong. We opened the door to the room an the smokey smell was there as well. We returned the the key, thanked the desk clerk and left. We ended up staying at the Holiday Inn Express across the street. If you're a smoker you may find no problem with the Magnolia Manor

James and the crew treated us with pride and respect on our second visit to Baton Rouge and both times were affordable on our budget and convenient to our needs. Just a few minutes from the LSU campus or downtown BR by jumping on I-10. But easy access to gas stations or fast food if your needs are for just an overnight stay. This is an older hotel but the recent remodeling has left it clean and a microwave and mini fridge means convenience to those just needing a break from the long road. I highly recommend it to those who want the quiet of a small town with access to a big city! Thanks guys!

We came in late at night on our way to a funeral. I was looking for something with maximum value and some comfort for a quick rest. I was happily surprised to find that the place was clean and bed was giant! Breakfast was better than your usual muffin in cellophane kind of experience. Was really enthralled with the overall stay. this hotel was under constructions at the time of my stay and it had a very strong smell of fresh paint which made me a little light headed both in the halls and in the room, I didn't complain it was gone the next morning. the breakfast was average, hot. had I had my friend with me we would not have been able to stay the night due to the paint smell.

"A Nice Surprise After Seeing It From The Highway"

When we saw this place from the road in front we were not impressed, It turns out that the building we saw is an abandoned building next to and slightly in front of the Magnolia Manor Best Western. The people at the front desk said that management is trying to buy the abandoned building because they realize it is off putting to guests. This is an older hotel and needs to be updated but the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There were only two sets of towels in the bath, the toilet seat was broken and shifted when in use, The shower was good. The fan was noisy. WiFi was good but there are very few plugs for chargers. Thankfully we had an extension cord with extra plugs. There was no pad of paper or pen in the room The room was fairly small with two beds and so the second bed blocked the closet. Breakfast was good with eggs, meat, yogurt, waffles, juice, some fresh fruit.

To begin my experience, I was greeted (not even) by a less than indifferent, condescending, desk clerk with limited (at best) knowledge of how to help me. He couldn't "bring up" my gold card advantage membership info ( with which I have never had any trouble), and he didn't seem interested in trying. When I got to my room, down a dank smelly hallway, the room was oppressively hot and musty. If I had not just driven 150 miles in the pouring rain, I would have definitely gone elsewhere. The breakfast was minimal and gross, and the morning clerks were no more interested in me than the evening one. The room was "only" $69., but I would have preferred sleeping in my car. NOT Best Western quality at all!

This was a very nice place to stay. Handy to I-10. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. NOTE: The motel sits right behind a boarded up Shoney's so the entrance is a little hard to see, but they have a short sign at the restaurant entrance. Don't let this deter you - it was very clean and safe. The bed was very comfortable.

We were very satisfied with our stay. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. It had a fridge (with freezer) and MW. Good wifi reception that makes me happy! Breakfast was the best we've had on our 3 week trip! The location was messed up on our garmin.

We were travelling to Texas to see our son for Xmas. AAA recommended this hotel and, although the entrance was a little hard to find, we did find the hotel. The lobby was very comfortable and the night staff were cordial on our arrival. We had booked in advance and we arrived late but our room was still waiting for us. The rest of the night was peaceful and the breakfast in the morning was very good. We would consider returning to this hotel if we could.

I was a late check in and they didn't seem to mind. The room was clean the hall had some smoking smell but the room was not. The beds were small but they were comfortable. The TV did not work at first it was the remote but the desk clerk was only minutes and fixed.

If I could give a zero rating I would. My husband had a feeling, so we went to check out the room before unpacking our belongings. While I forgave the overwhelming smell of mothballs and the horrible status of the door and carpet, and the fresh coat of paint was a nice touch, we could not overlook the roaches on our curtains. We turned heel. When we went to explain to the front desk that we would not be staying with them, he was not even a bit surprised and very weakly asked if we wanted to see another room. We, of course, declined. Don't bother.

Enjoyed this stay. Conveniently located right off I-10. The rooms were nice and comfortable. Although there are several fast food places nearby it is somewhat hazardous to cross the street via foot due to the heavy traffic. Non-fast food places require a little driving (<4 miles)

The room was absolutely filthy! There were roach feces all over the tables, desk, dresser, in the coffee pot, and on the coffee service tray. There was hair (NOT ours!) all over the bathroom and on the towels. The room smelled horrible. The man who checked us in was beyond rude and condescending when I didn't understand why moving me from one building to another mattered (turns out, it didn't matter at all).

The property is spread out over several buildings. The hallways were musty and smelly. The room was satisfactory and clean. We could smell cigarette smoke from people smoking just out side the side entrance near our room. Had to drive to the ice machine located in another building. It was raining hard and you had to go outside to get the office and breakfast area, The breakfast items were stale and tasteless. We wont stay there again. The property is certainly not like most Best Westerns we have stayed at.

We stayed here after a long drive and busy day. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay. The breakfast met our needs but did not have the selection that other hotels are offering.. Our only complaint was that our room was right next to some doors that had been recently painted and the fumes were strong in our room. Stuffed a towel at the bottom and that took care of the problem.

We enjoyed our stay, the folks at the counter were very nice and got us to our room in a few minutes. The rooms are a little bit smaller than normal but very clean. Yeah, I guess we would recommend this hotel to our fellow travelers.

Simply driving up to the lobby was enough to make me want to make a U-turn and sleep in the car for the evening. The street view welcome was a closed down something that had the doors and windows boarded up. The grounds were dirty and something gave me an uneasy feeling. The room was with a double bed. One bed was so close to the closet that it could not be used (the closet). The bed was soft on the edges but had a big hump in the center. And the sheets and blankets seemed to be short. That, combined with a heater/air conditioner that changed the room temp from an artic blast to a sultry swamp within minutes kept me awake most of the night. The room was as if it had 24 hour daylight. Light came easily through the curtains and the half inch gap basically all around the room's door. The room did not present itself as being clean at all. With that in mind, I passed on the free breakfast. I simply checked out and drove away as fast as I could.

Rooms are too small for families. Limited english employees made getting some of our needs meet like extra towels difficult. Request for additional services like a cot or room upgrade to a suite responses were immediately no.

wow so horrible. We found a roach up in there. The smell was horrible. Everything looked old and outdated. When we went to tell the so called manager she had an attitude and never once apologized. It was just plain disrespect. I swear I will never recommend their hotel to anyone.

There was a small problem with the complimentary computer and printer in the front office, but the host at the front desk personally handled the situation and created a workaround. Very helpful and courteous! I'd gladly stay here again. (Side note: hotel wifi was better than average. 3 Mbps download in my room, much more consistent than normal hotel wifi)
