"Good value for your money in a historic property"
ontheroadagain65, 02 Avril 2024

Such a charming, historic place. A great value not too far from Mont St. Michel. The room was clean and comfy. There was a fair amount of storage space in our room. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is we felt the breakfast was adequate, but a little lacking. We stayed at 5 different hotels during our trip to France and in comparison, the others offered more at breakfast.

"Mont Saint Michel"
kyosukeb, 16 Janvier 2024

It's near Mont Saint Michel around 9km and you have a parking for free on the side of hotel and some restaurants on the streets and around. Some restaurants may be off because January is low season. It was a good experience!

"Clean and comfortable!"
Beth T, 11 Octobre 2023

Delightful hotel in an old Norman house/estate. Wonderful decor and character. Thr beds were large and comfy, shower and toilet great. No A/C that we could see but temps were good outside. Breakfast excellent. Service friendly. Lived Ponteron and it was only a 10-min drive to Mt Saint-Michael. Would stay there again easily.

"Very nice old house and great breakfast"
rshopping, 06 Octobre 2023

I didn't expect a lot from a BW in a small town but got very positively surprised. The building is historic and beautiful and there is a lovely garden. Also the breakfast was way beyond of what you normally receive as “ Continental Breakfast”.

"Loved our stay here!"
SkierGRL, 22 Mai 2023

We loved this boutique hotel, a former manor house! There is so much history to the original building, and it is beautifully restored. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Our room had all the modern conveniences (except a mini fridge, which would have been helpful), while retaining old world charm. The hotel is convenient walking distance to several downtown restaurants. Mont St Michel is only a few miles away. Breakfast was mostly continental, but they do offer scrambled eggs and European bacon, and there are many other selections to choose from. Be sure to check out the courtyard, it is charming!

"Centrally located and clean rooms"
mgmvt, 22 Mai 2023

Centrally located hotel with clean rooms. It is in an old building which gives it much character. There is a bar. Very nice garden area outside. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Many restaurants nearby as hotel is on the main street. Very quiet and comfortable. Would stay here again.

"Very comfortable hotel in the main street of Pontorson, close to the action."
Donald B, 18 Mai 2023

We stayed overnight on our bike ride around the Walled Cities of Brittany. A great old-style hotel with super friendly and helpful staff. The continental breakfast was superb, with hot food options. Very close to Creperies and other dining options for the evening meal. The room was very comfortable and clean, we looked out onto a great little green courtyard. The hotel has a lift. The front of the hotel is a "green wall" with nice plant growth, adding to the appeal of the hotel.

"An Awesome Place to Stay"
Max T, 10 Mai 2023

The Best Western Hotel Montgomery is in an older, beautiful building and is an easy walk to/from the train station. The staff is super friendly and extremely courteous and does all they can to make the guest feel welcome and respected. The breakfast is phenomenal, particularly the homemade bread! Their outdoor garden area is ideal for relaxing and reading.

"A wonderful hotel that is only ten minutes drive to Mont St. Michel."
Meng T, 05 Novembre 2022

This hotel is in such a convenient location for visiting Mont St. Michel. Being a Best Western hotel you know it follows a certain cleanliness and quality standard. The hotel owner is a wonderful and helpful host. It's also in a small town that is in a beautiful farming area in Normandy. I will definitely stay here if I can back to this area.

"Hospitality at its best"
PartyofOne2013, 22 Juillet 2022

I was a walk-in guest who decamped here after a booking at a Mont Saint Michel hotel hadn't worked out. Best Western Montgomery restored my faith in the hospitality industry. AMBIENCE: The appealing stone façade of the hotel is deceptively compact. The entrance opens into a foyer of great age resplendent with French country antiques in and around the aged oak stairs (there's also a lift) that lead to the modern guest rooms in an extension to the original building. ROOM: On the morning I arrived alone, there was only one room available. It was dubbed a single but was generously-sized, well appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The bathroom, which had its own large window, looked to have been recently renovated and was immaculate. SERVICE: I was checked in by the manager who, like his staff, could not have been more welcoming or helpful throughout my 24 hour stay. BREAKFAST: Memorably good. Taken in the dining room in the old part of the hotel, the tables with crisp white linen cloths and napkins, overlooked the garden. The locally produced Norman cheeses and conserves (unexpected choices included pumpkin and orange marmalade and coffee jam) were delicious. TARIFF: Very modest and for which I received some of the best value and most enjoyable accommodation I've encountered in many decades of travel.

"Great Historic Hotel"
Douglas G, 16 Juillet 2022

This Hotel is hundreds of years old, but it was great to stay there, clean, and had everything we needed. The staff was the among the best I have ever experienced. We had travel upsets (train strike) but they worked hard to make sure we had rooms that met our needs. They were great with tourist advice, and where to eat, and they even had a small bar right next to the lobby for guests, so a nice glass of beer/wine available before bedtime in a cozy atmosphere. They were happy to store our suitcase while we went out to see the sights, so that our suitcases were not visible or stolen from our car. They were really nice people, and they seemed sincerely kind and thoughtful, not just for show. We would highly recommend it, especially for a family or group wanting to see Mont St. Michel. We also had breakfast there one morning, and it was very nice.

"Great Location Excellent Management"
grandmama30045, 05 Juillet 2022

We chose this property due to its closeness to Mont. St. Michel. Ideal location. Cute town with nice restaurants. There is no air conditioning and France was experiencing a heatwave while we were there. The windows did open but the heat didn't subside until late at night. One group the first night was VERY noisy. We did not complain but shared with the manager the next morning. He said we should have called. We didn't, our fault. Walking distance to anything you might need. My husband injured his knee and needed to keep it iced several times a day and the night. Management was excellent as he provided ice whenever needed. Manager spoke English very well. Cute bar inside the hotel. Hotel is historic and has lots of quaint French charm. Elevator is available but once getting off there are still stairs to navigate to reach rooms. Breakfast was good. They had everything we wanted. We would definitely stay again. It looks a little worn but bathroom had been remodeled and sheets/towels were clean. Bed slept well. Loved it. Keep up the good work.

"Great stay near Mount St Michel"
Stevetrips4life, 22 Mai 2022

The hotel was a perfect stay near Mount St Michel. Mount St Michel was about a 10 minute drive away. The hotel is located on the main street in Pontorson within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The hotel room was nice with a good sized bathroom and shower. The hotel also has a free parking lot with plenty of space behind it. The hotel attendant was really nice and the breakfast is worth it for the extra charge.

"Wonderful Place to Stay!"
rbrian58, 24 Avril 2022

Historic hotel located in a nice small town. Lots of things to do in the area. Staff are incredible - very helpful and efficient. The hotel rooms are spacious and quiet. Shopping and restaurants are plentiful and can be found right outside your hotel. A wonderful experience!

"Were we in the same hotel or I'm the only who got bad rooms ?"
B1714D, 24 Décembre 2021

I see here I'm in a large minority who disliked this hotel, so I wonder this from my headline. Hotel location is excellent, in the main Pontorson street, close to many restaurants around, a supermarket and a free parking lot around the bldg. Also, I liked the vintage look of it, both inside and outside. Moreover, the staff, specially a young lady at the reception was very kind and helpful. But, the prime reason we came here - sleeping, was a disaster. Our first room was a two level room with the bathroom one level below the main room accessed via stairs with low ceiling ??!! I'm 52, stayed in hundreds of hotels on all continents and I've never seen such a room layout. Imagine waking up at night and going to the bathroom - looks like an Escape game !! We asked immediately for another room, which the kind young lady organized within minutes. The other room had a normal, one level layout, but such mattresses and pillows I remember only from my Army service. Thin as paper and so uncomfortable to sleep. But, I had no nerve to change again, so accepted it for one night. Also, we refused breakfast as it was a la carte choice which you had to pre order the night before ??!! They explained that is due to Covid, but we were in two more BW hotels on our 10 day tour (in Rouen and Caen) and they served normal buffet breakfast. To conclude, considering the above I do not recommend this hotel. Rather avoid it. The only reason I don't give 1 star is that kind receptionist who gave her best.

"Hotel Montgomery was Outstanding"
WorldTravellerMCPO, 29 Septembre 2021

Comfortable and charming hotel with all of the modern conveniences. Center of town, 15 minutes from Mt St Michel. About 20 from the American Cemetery at St James. Would definitely stay there again. Just the type of Inn my wife and I love.

"Historic Montgomery was delightful"
jodi890, 26 Septembre 2021

We enjoyed our experience in this lovely historic hotel. Like many old properties, there are floor unevenesses that can cause hazards, but it has been modernized delightfully, and reception was very friendly and helpful. There is an outdoor courtyard, bar and comfortable indoor seating area. Breakfast was plentiful and served well.

"Pleasant hotel a few minutes away from Mont-St-Michel"
luibene, 25 Août 2020

We (family of four) spent two nights at this hotel and had a definitely good time. The room (probably not the best they have and adapted to a four people room) was good, the personnel available for requests and advices and the breakfast was super! Definitely worth a visit and a very good choice to visit Mont-St-Michel!

"Lovely old hotel"
Jenn54, 02 Mai 2020

This is a historic property that has been renovated. The room was small but we were only there for one night, so was manageable. The section of the hotel that we were in could only be reached with stairs. The clerk took our bags up the steps, which we appreciated. The bathroom is quite small and getting in the tub was a bit of a struggle for me, as the sides were high. The room was at the end of the hall and very quiet. Breakfast was ample and the staff was attentive and friendly. Given that the hotel has no air conditioning, I do not think I would want to stay if the weather was hot. However, we didn't have an issue with room temperature.

"Full of Character"
DickieW, 23 Janvier 2020

Lovely quirky hotel full of character due to its age and history. The staff are friendly and helpful and look after their guests very well. Perfect location to stroll about the town which has several nice restaurants. Won't appeal to those who like ultra modern hotels full of gadgets but for those who prefer character it's perfect. Have stayed twice and will be back again.

"Historic Hotel is not for me"
timetofly83, 29 Juillet 2019

Hotel is incredible due to history, character and great location near Mont St Michel. Staff was kind and so helpful. Although due to the historic nature it lacked modern comforts such as AC and had no fans. The toilet room was so small I could not shut the door when using it. The bathroom was very nice but shower was in whirlpool tub. The bed mattress was extremely hard. I would not stay again but would recommend if you enjoy historic hotels!

"Just passing"
293momom, 23 Juillet 2019

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel on our way to Spain. Lovely building and beautiful small courtyard garden.Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Reasonable sized room with a big, very comfortable double bed and clean and modern bathroom. Great breakfast included in the price. Would definitely stay there's again, also very dog-friendly

"No rest at all"
Wallacecooks, 04 Juillet 2019

Smoking outside our window at 2am? And then again at 8am? Still coughing with scratchy throat now. I hope all my clothing does not smell like smoke! Hotel website says clearly a Non-smoking property. And no AC, not even a fan? It is 2019 and you have to leave your window open in July> Even 1600s Chantilly near Paris had AC. Then, the beds are firm and uncomfortable, so woke up with a backache. And finally, a barking dog next door? With owners slamming door going in and out. It is quieter outside! As an American, very disappointing for a Best Western. Did not represent quality of American brand, and Should have franchise taken away.

"One night stay, visit La Mont St Michal"
jura11, 27 Juin 2019

About 15 minute drive from La Mont St Michal, Pontorson is a small French town of about 4,000 people. The hotel for the price was excellent and the staff and Manager were exceptional. Cosy bar and outside courtyard were ideal for a quiet evening drink and breakfast was fresh and fulfilling. The only downside is the hotel does not have a restaurant and eating out in Pontorson was not the best. Free parking in front of hotel.

"Charming Little Inn"
Steven K, 12 Juin 2019

This is a great little place that has been around a long time. It is in a very old building, and as such is a little quirky. I don't think there was a straight or level surface in the well worn main staircase. It was not so much that it felt like a hazard, just that you could definitely tell it was very old. However, the rooms were very nice and up to date.

"Historic and Wonderful"
FredAckelbee, 02 Juin 2019

We stayed at this Best Western in Ponderson while visiting Mont St. Michele. . .very affordable and historic. Room was very comfortable. Staff was extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. The morning breakfast was excellent, although not included in the room price. Our only regret was that we could only spend one night here, so hope to be able to come back in the future and spend more time.

"Perfect location and lovely hotel"
Max2219, 12 Mai 2019

Perfect hotel to use a base to see Mont-St-Michel, San-Malo, Dinan. The hotel was built centuries ago, but has all the modern amenities. The room was spotless, comfortable beds, and a lovely continental breakfast... The front desk staff was welcoming and informative .

"We loved this hotel. Want to go back. "
Roamingbarry, 05 Mai 2019

From the minute we opened the front door everything was really good. The owners welcome you and I am sure this hotel is so pleasing is down to their friendly professional management . Room and bathroom very clean and just right. The hotel interior is very old and furnished with great taste. Breakfast first class. All really good value. I will remember this hotel for any future Normandy visit . Thank you to the family owners , you deserve good reviews

"Budget friendly and very comfortable"
kathymay5477, 02 Mai 2019

We stayed here for one night during our visit to Mont Saint Michel. The location was very good for visiting MSM, and we had a very comfortable room. The reception desk staff person was very helpful and friendly. We would stay here again for convenience and value near MSM.

"Historically "
Teeque100, 24 Avril 2019

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one evening in 2014, so we decided we would give it another go, honestly this hotel is very tired, it has a lot of history and could do with a face lift. Our room was immaculate and quite spacious. The elevator is a hoot, very scary lol, but definitely better than those creaky stairs. The bathroom was also quite large with a walk-in shower, bath and had obviously just been renovated. The staff, fantastic, need I say more. One thing you should be aware of is that there is no air conditioning, it was a pretty warm weekend and we simply opened our windows. The bed in our room however was very lumpy, so I did have an uncomfortable night.

"Enjoyed our visit"
larry S, 06 Avril 2019

My wife and two sons loved this hotel..................beautiful experience we liked everything about it, rooms food staff the surrounding area ...............1st class. Great Experience. Superbly placed for a visit to St Michel Mont.

"History"
pennylennox, 13 Novembre 2018

A truly incredible experience staying at Hotel Montgomery. The history of the building and the family is amazing. Our room was spacious and all facilities were excellent. We could not have asked for better accommodation.

"Great Personal Service"
leslie19732017, 31 Octobre 2018

Another couple and my husband and I spent one night in late October in two rooms for a quick visit to Mont St Michel. We were greeted warmly and appreciated being able to ask questions in English. Our rooms were beautifully furnished and comfortable, and our hosts offered assistance in several ways so that we could make the most of our short time and still catch our train back to Paris. My only regret is that we didn't plan a longer stay to enjoy this hotel and town.

"Leisure"
SimonMach1, 13 Octobre 2018

Fabulous hotel, with interesting history and comfortable rooms. Great staff made an overnight stay an enjoyable experience. They volunteered their garage to store my motorcycle overnight also. The hotel is situated in a very attractive town too.

"Historical wonder! Original part of hotel is 500 years old!"
betty b, 08 Septembre 2018

I enjoyed staying here. So much history! My only draw back was no a/c but I was able to open the window and was comfortable for the night. Comfortable room and impeccably clean bathroom. The staff was incredible and there is even a nice little pub off the lobby area. The gentleman that checked us in also runs the little pub. This place makes you feel like you took a step back in time and it is wonderful! The breakfast buffet is excellent and there is a beautiful patio area where you can enjoy your meal. Highly recommend this place!

"Awesome Montgomery"
Graham F, 04 Septembre 2018

Fantastic old hotel that has been brilliantly and lovingly restored. Modern rooms in a 500 year old building. Staff excellent and very obliging. Gardens so beautiful. Wifi very good. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Trustworthy"
rogers_no2, 31 Août 2018

Stayed just two nights. Staff were unbelievably helpful. Left my wallet and some valuables in the room safe on return to the UK. Staff posted everything to me intact all monies accounted for and everything safe on return. Cant praise the service highly enough. Would recommend if wanting to visit Mont St Michael.

"Charming, comfortable and convenient"
marcie5295, 26 Août 2018

We stayed at Best Western in Pontorson for two nights to be close to Mont St Michel. The room is fairly large by European standards, clean, and had a comfortable bed. The hotel itself is charming and the staff are very friendly. The only negative is that the free WiFi was not very strong and we were continually cut off. We arrived by train, and the train station is within walking distance to the hotel. The hotel is in the middle of this small town and has several shops and restaurants nearby, including a very quaint creperie across the street. If you don't have a car, the best way to the MSM, is by bus, which you can catch at the train station several times per day. The only problem is, don't plan to take the very last bus from the MSM back to Pontorson because the bus is not dependable. Our first night we planned to take the last scheduled bus back and for some unknown reason it was cancelled and we ended up stranded with other travelers late at night. We ended up having to take a taxi back to the hotel at a very hefty price. I highly recommend this hotel for comfort, convenience, and its charm.

"Mont St. Michael"
Jason H, 10 Août 2018

Great old dame, classic style, my home away from home in the countryside of Normande. Great back patio with tables for picnic& wine. Very old building and stairway/ Interior that adds to her charm. Easy access to local shops/eats,& train station.

"Perfect!"
Vicky0905, 07 Août 2018

We visited a hotel for one night to see MSM. The hotel is in beautiful building, the rooms are clean, the staff is helpful @ the breakfast is delicious. Recommend the hotel for the MSN visit or the trip in the area.

"Great location"
Robert-Jan A, 03 Août 2018

We booked one night at the hotel to make a visit to mont saint Michel. The location is really great, within 10 minutes you are at the parking area of Mont Saint Michel. The hotel has a old look and feel but it was all clean and good. We also liked Pontorson as a nice little town. With supermarchés and boulangeries nearby for also a lovely French breakfast or lunch.

"Historic Hotel - Good Room"
FishMom3, 28 Juillet 2018

I recently spent 2 nights with my two 15 year olds (boy and girl) as the BW Montgomery in Pontorson as part of a several week tour of France and Spain - we chose the BW given its proximity to Mont St Michel. This was not your typical BW as we experience in the US - the historic building is evident in the exterior, lobby and staircases but the rooms are modern and clean. Our triple room was small (common for Europe) but functional, and overlooked a beautiful courtyard - the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was convenient to restaurants and a short walk from the train station where you can catch the shuttle to Mont St Michel (a not to be missed experience).

"Charming and convenient!"
Lisa M, 10 Juillet 2018

We loved this hotel! We found it very clean and while it has a little charm in regards to the size of the elevator and the staircase- its France! Charming is GOOD! We loved being able to rent bikes right from the hotel at the front desk and ride the 5-ish miles to Mont San Michel- and unforgettable experience! We opted to go to a local boulangerie for breakfast rather than the hotel breakfast, so can't speak on that, but can say there's a great bakery across the way!

"Charming hotel in a charming town."
Herkbert, 05 Juillet 2018

Right to the point - we loved staying at the BW Hotel Montgomery. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or to recommend it to others. The hotel is located in historic building, the rooms are comfortable and the hotel has an overall cozy feeling. Everyone we dealt with at the desk, the bar, and the breakfast room were very friendly and helpful. It's located just over two blocks from the train station along the towns main street. Our room (#7) was in the front of the hotel and was a large room with a large bathroom. We loved being able to open the windows and watch and listen to the street below. We also happened to be there during the town's Medieval festival, which was a real treat. Enjoyed the hotel and had a chance to partake in some fun. Stay for the night to visit Mt Saint-Michel or stay a couple days and enjoy Pontorson.

"Perfect for One Night near Mont St. Michel"
Grandmere4, 30 Juin 2018

Cute, historic building with friendly, helpful staff. Kind of quirky, but that added to the charm. The breakfast room with adjoining garden was lovely, but the buffet breakfast was a little lame. For 12 euros, I expected homemade pastries; these did not seem to be made on the premises. All in all, I would recommend the hotel!

"Cute Hotel"
TomRIUSA, 27 Juin 2018

Old historic building. Room was cute and looked over the courtyard, but had too much furniture. Needs a night light so do not bump into the night. Met our needs. We had breakfast there in the morning which was better then MOST hotels we stayed at in France.

"Lovely hotel with a great staff"
Dave S, 24 Juin 2018

The gentleman that checked us in and we saw throughout the couple of days we stayed was extremely professional, kind and helpful. He may have been the manager (?) - his service was fantastic. Comfortable rooms considering the age of the beautiful, quaint building. Lift was slow, so we used the gorgeous staircase. Lovely courtyard and very nice breakfast. Rooms and bathrooms are not very updated, but that was not our priority for this trip. Everything else about this hotel made up for that.

"Lovely historical place to stay"
eperri189959, 20 Juin 2018

Lovely old building that tells you it's history, secure parking for motorbikes, very close to le mont st Michel, either to drive to or a 9km walk along the river. We were luckily there the weekend of the medieval fayre

"A good end to our walking trip"
jdavie376150, 18 Juin 2018

The Best Western Hotel Montgomery made a comfortable end to our walking trip from St Malo to Pontorson. We liked the historic building and the hotel was well situated with adequate restaurants nearby.

"Wonderful hotel with loads of character"
dcanha326307, 15 Juin 2018

This is a wonderful little hotel full of character and charm. On street parking is available right outside. The inside is interesting and very French with winding staircase and wood decor. A patio is in a courtyard where you can sit and enjoy a drink from the bar

"Excellent Hotel near Mont St. Michel"
D0dge51, 13 Juin 2018

This Hotel was ideally located and with free parking just behind the Hotel. The room was very comfortable and the jacuzzi bath amazingly big. The beds were very good and the staff were all efficient and very friendly. There are various restaurants around the Hotel. It was a lovely quirky hotel and the room had very high ceilings. Despite our room being on the main road, we slept soundly and would definetly stay here again if visiting this area. Would fully recommend.

"Very nice of the night staff to keep the front door open for our late check-in"
dilek215, 10 Juin 2018

Friendly staff. The front door closes at 22:30, but since the hotel knew we were arriving late, they kept the door open for us which was super nice. The room was comfortable and quite big for a best western. We got upgraded due to our membership. The breakfast area is quite cosy. You can sit outside or in the garden. We liked the breakfast buffet. The fact that there is a big, free parking is a plus.

"Quirky hotel, very charismatic"
dtredhead, 19 Mai 2018

This is a very old building. Our room defied geometric description. It had a wonderful ceiling and creaking floorboards and gave one a feeling of living in a byegone age. Si different from the usual 90 degree bedrroms of modernity. A few problems . obviously our room was at the end of a long line of piping at the first time we tried to get hot water it took over 8 minutes before it ran hot. It was OK after that. Lovely breakfast and attentive friendly staff .I would certainly come again if I was in this area again

"Lovely quaint hotel"
CB1300s, 13 Mai 2018

Touring on Motorcycle. Hotelhad garage and helpful staff opened it up so i could park the bike. Quaint inside with an olde feel. Room was good with lovely shower. Breakfast was good and they catered for gluten free (asked in advance) breakfast. Helpful staff. Easy walk to train/bus station for trip to Mt.St.Michel. bus was 2.90 euros one way to the mount. Town is good and theres a great restaurant 5 mins walk away.

"Great stay!"
Travelsgirl93, 06 Mai 2018

I stayed here for four nights and was pleased with my experience. Here are my observations: Staff is very friendly and helpful Room was very clean Free parking was available in a safe lot around the corner WIFI was good and reliable Vending machine in lobby for snacks and drinks any time Building is very old and has character It was quiet at night, very much appreciated The only negative is the lack of air conditioning I'd also suggest the hotel provide "do not disturb" signs for guests who do not want daily room cleaning

"Great place for a stay in Pontorson"
capeguy72, 23 Mars 2018

This hotel has so much character from the original 500 year old staircase to updated modern room/bathrooms. The husband and wife combo that run the hotel are a joy to talk to. To listen to the history of this house over a glass of red wine was definitely a highlight. Their attention to detail and keeping the house true to its 16th century history shows their dedication to this place. For €12, you can add breakfast. The location is very centrally located within walking distance to the train station to catch the bus to Mont-Saint-Michel. The location is quiet and makes walking around Pontorson easy. Definite recommend.

"Good trip"
animaniacsd, 08 Février 2018

Quaint hotel near historical Mt St Michel. Building is several hundred years old, so floors are uneven as are the walls. Great bathtub and shower. Kind receptionists and very friendly. Free street parking too.

"Quiet hotel close to Mont Saint-Michel"
Krzysztof R, 21 Janvier 2018

Everything was over my expectation (expected North America style or European size) - but remember - bar closes very early and better get some drinks before coming to the hotel. And maybe breakfast in on an expensive side - 12 $/person but a choice is good.

"Funky and fun room with a hard bed"
axwtravels, 24 Décembre 2017

We had room 7 which was weird and funky and kind of cool. The floor was tilted a bit so the bed leaned downward at the head. The bathroom was huge and again, a bit funky. The room was great and we giggled at the oldness of the building. The only downside was that the bed was really hard so I had problems sleeping. But, the staff was extremely friendly so it made up for the hard bed. This hotel is in a small town about 7km from Mont Saint Michel. This suited us well as it was away from tourists but there were still plenty of restaurants around.

"An unexpected treasure"
Robert R, 17 Décembre 2017

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for one evening. Suggested by our Mont Saint-Michel tour guide due to the early rendez-vous the next morning to visit the Mont. To our surprise we walked in to an old stone faced building which had kept the charm of a small town home. I am not certain as to how many rooms are in the hotel but it's not your typical Best Western. Our room was immaculate and quite spacious. I can't say as much for the elevator, but that's another fun story, not worth mentioning. The bathroom was also quite large with a walk-in shower, can't remember if there was a bath. The staff, on all the shifts were amazing and very helpful. One thing you should be aware of is that there didn't appear to be any air conditioning, that might have been just our room. But we didn't need it in our case, we simply opened the window and slept very well.

"Property and staff made my BW points count - FANTASTIQUE!!!"
JeffreySoFein, 08 Novembre 2017

As I rarely am able to utilize hotels for pleasure, I attempt to select properties which may afford a unique experience; this hotel and hotelier have gone above and beyond my expectations. Gullivan at the front desk was more helpful, knowledgeable and accomodating than anyone has a right being - MERCI!! As I was bringing friends along to see the local attraction (Mont Saint-Michel) I had booked two rooms (NP), a last minute addition required a third room - normally OK but sometimes overreaching in a quaint tourist driven community..I barely had time to ask and Gullivan had my extra guest booked in! On the property itself (We arrived Nov. 9) it has the right amount of historically accurate key locks/doors/carved wood/great views of the town and modern (VERY new and modern W/C seperate tub/shower) ammenities I prefer. Out of the three rooms, two of us had the Historic/Modern mix, one enjoyed the full modern renovation experience in his room. Nothing but rave reviews from us. Thank you again for a wonderful stop over, we will be back for longer next time! Bon Nuit!

"Great hotel near Mont Saint Michel"
Karen C, 29 Octobre 2017

Good quality B&B hotel in center of town, close to restaurants and 20 minutes from Mont St Michel. It is a 15th century hotel with large nicely decorated bedrooms, modern baths and comfortable beds. There is an outdoor garden with tables. The breakfast is a large buffet with traditional french pastries, breads, cheeses, meats and cereal. Friendly staff.

"Nice hotel in town near Mont-Saint-Michel"
Antoinette M, 06 Octobre 2017

Stay here to visit Mont-Saint-Michel, slightly away from the madness and with free parking. A little creaky (and I include beds in our room), but charming. Breakfast is reasonably priced and includes most of what you would want in a large room facing a garden. Staff are attentive. Kind of a British atmosphere though the staff are thoroughly French!

"Best hotel in town"
phaminator, 19 Septembre 2017

Historic hotel complete with thick, heavy wood doors and creaky stairs. The rooms are small but clean and well-decorated, Window provided fresh breeze when we were there in the summer. Despite being on the main drag of Pontorson, it was nice and quiet with all sorts of restaurants nearby. Great place to stay to visit Mont St Michel which is a 10-15 min drive.

"Lovely hotel"
alisoncgray59, 18 Septembre 2017

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay in this pretty little hotel. The room was comfortable and airy although the bathroom is a bit compact and bijou. The staff were all lovely and breakfast is served in a lovely dining room overlooking a pretty garden. I assume in the warmer weather you can eat outside. The building itself is very old with lots of little nooks and crannies and dark wood. There is free parking just around the corner and LTS of nice shops to browse. There are plenty of places to eat from French bistros to Italian pasta place. Would definitely recommend if you want somewhere quiet and peacefulk to explore thew surrounding area. ( Mont Saint Michel is about 10 minutes away) We will return.

"Good but flawy"
andrelmsantos, 12 Août 2017

It's a nice hotel, but the let-down is that they sell a room booking with a Queen Size bed, which is untrue: it's only two single beds side-by-side. Come on, guys: please stop deceiving your customers like this! One can't even sleep at the middle of the bed because of the gap between the two mattresses! Other than that, the location is very nice, a public free parking is close by and the breakfast is very nice.

"Quaint Hotel"
Kate S, 07 Août 2017

This is the perfect location for anyone coming to visit Mont Saint Michel who doesn't want to pay an arm and a leg for accommodations closer to the island. This quaint little hotel is located in a mansion built back in the 1500s with fascinating history. There is a parking lot around back which is very convenient and also free. The room was comfortable (the bed was a little firm for my liking) and had a beautiful bathroom attached. There is no air conditioning (old house, after all!) but opening the windows gives a nice breeze. Just be aware of this if you are booking during the summer time. We enjoyed the nice breakfast buffet spread in the morning and especially loved the chance to take our coffees out to the garden around back and sit there. It was tranquil and just absolutely lovely. We soaked up as much time as possible before leaving.

"A good and comfortable stay"
almap119, 30 Juillet 2017

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay at the Montgomery. The manager was very friendly and helpful. The room was a decent size and the English tv channels were a pleasant surprise. There was a parking lot close to the hotel and several restaurants nearby.

"Quaint historical building just what we were looking for"
UkWowzer, 23 Juillet 2017

A fantastic boutique feel hotel perfectly situated for our planned visit to Mont Saint Michel. The historic building and period features created a fantastic ambience that made our stay that little more special. From the time of booking to our checkout the staff were attentive and really keen to help make our stay (with an 8 month old baby) as comfortable as possible. Good size rooms (we booked a standard) even with a provided cotbed and lovely refurbished bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were a bonus given our limited movement at night. A great location in the middle of this quiet town with supermarkets, wine bars and bistros all in walking distance from the property. A bonus is the free public car park 50m from the front door.

"Nice, comfortable, quiet hotel"
erklein, 12 Juillet 2017

We booked in the last minute after a problem with a previous hotel. Staff was really nice. Although the building is very old and historic (very interesting to read all the history) our room was modern and comfortable. Paid extra for a very decent buffet breakfast.

"Hotel Montgomery"
cwilki_835331, 10 Juillet 2017

Beautiful hotel in a lovely French town. Visited on a very hot day, air conditioning in the room would be a bonus. Enjoyed a bottle of rose on the terrace late afternoon. Hosts very hospitable and helpful

"Best we could get I suppose"
Dolfanlp13, 22 Juin 2017

We were in the area to visit Mont St Michel and decided to stay in Pontorson one night. This was the highest rated hotel in town. The good: great reception by the manager. He helped us feel welcome and called us a taxi as we had missed the most recent shuttle. He also provided a floor fan as it was hot. The bad: as most of France no a/c. I get it, doesn't get hot often but when it does OMG . Even with windows fully open no air circulation which made for an uncomfortable night. Not their fault I believe the building is almost a thousand years old and it did look nice but if you go to France don't go in the summer.

"Historic building"
chief1260, 19 Juin 2017

We had 5 rooms here for 3 nights and all agreed that it was a good decision to book here. The history in the building itself was worth the trip an the staff is excellent. The location cannot be beat either. If you are going to visit Mont St Michel I would strongly advise that you consider this hotel.

"Very Nice Hotel"
Frits B, 19 Juin 2017

The hotel is a converted old mansion, it is absolutely stunning. The rooms are small, but very neat & the bathrooms are very nice & modern. The staff is super friendly & helpful. There is free parking near the hotel & there always seemed to be enough place to park

"Very good"
MARCIAMAG, 12 Juin 2017

Everything was perfect. The room was clean and confortable. The breakast is very good but is expensive like others best western (12 euros).Pontorson is not so near saint Michel, but if you are by car, by bike it will not be a problem. The route by bike to saint Michel is a pleasant 10 km route. There is a bus to Saint Michel and to Rennes every time. There is a garage and if you by car it can help you.

"Near Mont San Machel"
Mark K, 23 Mai 2017

Very nice hotel with a lot of history. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Would make sure to get there early for the town closes down at nine pm. Had a hard time finding a place for dinner. They have a very nice court yard for morning coffee. Breakfast looked very nice but we did not try it.

"Great hotel!"
abelen_894944, 08 Mai 2017

Easily the best hotel we stayed during this trip. Very nicely decorated, spacious rooms, friendly staff. We were there for Mt. St. Michel which is 10 minutes away by car, so the location is good. Public (and free) car park is across the street.

"Attentive owner and staff"
Vince1951, 03 Mai 2017

We really enjoy travel in Europe, and welcome the chance to stay at unique hotel properties. This Best Western hotel in unique in age, decor, and creaky stairs! What character! The owner is very attentive and a font of information, as are his staff. Our room. #8, is spacious, with an up-to-date bathroom. The breakfast buffet, European style, is set in a large room looking on to a lovely garden. We were quite satisfied with the variety of fare. Parking is free nearby, and the town is a delight to enjoy for intimate restaurants and stores. We hope you find this review to be helpful and informative.

"An old Inn"
Adelucia, 13 Avril 2017

This hotel is ideal if you want to spend a night near Mont San Michel. You can go near Mont San Michel at night and not worry about having to drive far. Just remember that the town sleeps pretty early, like most country side towns and only a nearby McDonald's Restaurant will be open to serve you food until 11:00pm.

"Highly recommend"
LasVegasCindy, 10 Avril 2017

Very cute little hotel in Pontorson. We received excellent service from the staff and they even provided gluten free bread at breakfast when requested. The room had ample space for us and our daughter. The train station is a short walk from the hotel.

"An oasis in Normandie"
Michele A, 08 Avril 2017

Hotel was very nice, beds were comfortable & bathroom had a nice tub. A short walk from the train station. Didn't get the chance to have breakfast there as we had to leave early morning to catch our train back to Paris but Pontorson is a lovely town & 5 miles from Le Mont St Michel. The shuttle is by the train station. Would love to go back again.

"Excellent"
April N, 02 Avril 2017

I booked the wrong day the day before our check in but the staff was very kind to still give us our room. The room was clean, we enjoyed staying there. There's a lot of restaurants nearby and it's a good location if your visiting Mont Saint Michel. Everything was great!

"Beautiful hotel in a extremely old bulding"
Carl S, 07 Mars 2017

Very nice and clean room. Right in the center of town. Only about 7 min to mont st. Michael. The stairs in the hotel are a couple hundred years old which really makes u think. The suites are worth the extra money with a jacuzzi and 4 post bed. Very cool. Would stay again

"Lovely"
Janet D, 17 Janvier 2017

Second time we have stayed here. Just our type of hotel. The staff/owners are helpful, the rooms are comfortable and the house itself is seeped in history. We find it fascinating with its ancient floors and staircase. It is on our list of favourites and we will return. A lucky find.

"One Night Saty"
Bradley H, 02 Novembre 2016

The owners were very accommodating, breakfast was great. We slept well, bed were large enough. Very neat hallways and you can tell this place has been around awhile. We enjoyed our stay very much. This is a place you could stay for a few nights. We did not research too much, but there is not much to do in this town. Parking is in a lot behind the hotel. They do close the desk at night, around 10 or 11.

"Fantastic stay!!"
FreeRangeDixieChick, 01 Novembre 2016

I really enjoyed my stay in this historic hotel. I traveled solo and stayed in room 27 for 2 nights. The view of the courtyard from my room was lovely. The bathroom was clean and modern. The room furnishings were slightly dated and the carpet has seen better days but the overall charm and convenience make up for that. The staff are friendly and very helpful. There are numerous restaurants up and down the road and a fantastic boulangerie right across the street. The hotel is within easy walking distance to the train station, where you can catch a bus for the 7km journey to Mont St Michel. WiFi works very well. There is a daily breakfast which I did not try. I also spent a day wandering around in Pontorson; it's quite a charming little town! I'd definitely stay here again!

"Comfortable, welcoming, clean and conveniet"
rodndtube, 17 Octobre 2016

Check-in and check-out went very smoothly. The room, bedding and bathroom were all very clean. It was nice to have a large bathroom with shower and tub, something you don't often find in European motel/hotel offerings. Breakfast was very good ($12 extra), which we opted for as not much else was open in the small village of Pontorson on a Sunday morning. Breakfast was almost too good as we didn't want to stop eating! Best coffee during our 5-day visit to France! The hotel is modern/ancient (in reference to a characterization below). Oldtime building with modern equipment. Very convenient to the Mont-Saint-Michel attraction. Portonson is also a nice village.

"Disappointing"
surveyorDublin, 10 Octobre 2016

We made a detour to see Mont St Michel on our way to Cherbourg and Pontorson seemed a natural choice. From the website the hotel seemed fine. The hotel is based in a 16th century house with the original staircase. The rooms are basic and typically French, i.e. faded. There is no restaurant in the hotel unfortunately so we had to visit one of the restaurants in the village. This was quite good actually. The breakfast was a buffet style and adequate. The downside was that on arrival we were told we would have to be out of the hotel before 9 a.m as there was an annual market which would block the Main Street so we were out by 8.10 a.m with the rest of the day to while away. Not restful!

"cozy stay"
jochawandit, 08 Septembre 2016

I had a cozy stay at this hotel. The room access the top view of a lovely garden in the middle of the hotel. Staffs are helpful. Would recommend if you would like to stay in Pontorson. The small town itself is lovely with easy access to mont st. mitchel by the bus (which u probably have to wait for 20mins or less). There are nice restaurants around the hotel as well as patisserie and local grocery.

"Historic luxury"
Yvette S, 01 Septembre 2016

We were delighted to discover the beautiful Hotel Mongomery at the end of a long drive from Abbeyville as it is the most impressive building on the main street. The manager was extremely welcoming and we thought our room was fabulous. It had a triple aspect over the street and painted beams on the ceiling. In the bathroom there was a bath with jets and very modern fittings. We were quite surprised by the toilet in a separate cupboard but discovered over our holiday that this is quite normal in French hotels. The hotel was a hunting lodge gifted to the Montgomery family in Henry VIII's reign and now combines historic grandeur with sophisticated modern comfort. The perfect combination! The oak staircase is memorable as was the exquisite breakfast in the elegant dining room. Unfortunately the hotel doesn't do meals apart from breakfast but there are a multitude of restaurants in the town and the manager is happy to recommend one to suit your preferences.

"Comforable and relaxing"
Roith5419, 17 Août 2016

Stayed 3 nights in a very clean and comfortable room, hotel staff were exceptionally helpful. Local shops, services and restaurants in abundance local to the hotel. Free to use public car park to the rear. Very close to the tourist hot spot of Mt St Michel, we used Hotel Montgomery as our base to tour the Normandy D-Day beaches (1 hour drive). Overall a very relaxing stay and would definitely stay again.

"Historic and comfortable"
musique9, 29 Juillet 2016

We stayed at Best Western Hotel Montgomery for one night after visiting Mont Saint Michel for the day. The hotel is a convenient walk from the Pontorson train station, in fact, we were able to walk to the hotel, drop our bags, and return to the station to catch the shuttle to the Mont that was timed to our train arrival. Upon returning to the hotel after a day exploring, our bags had already been placed in our room. All the staff we interacted with were very polite and welcoming. The hotel has been modernized (beautifully renovated washrooms, etc) but the decor and feel of the place remain historic. Our room had all the comforts you would expect and more, including a bath tub, hair dryer, safe, wardrobe, and even a kettle with tea. Our room looked out onto a courtyard with flowers. The beds were very comfortable. I would highly recommend Hotel Montgomery for any type of traveler.

"Great location for Mt St Michel"
bostontravelnman, 25 Juillet 2016

Stayed two nights. Lovely hotel near many spots to eat. Check in was the quickest that I have experienced. Loved the old staircase leading up to the rooms. The room had a queen sized bed ( a little too firm for me ). The bathroom was sparkling new. The room had a window overlooking the courtyard. # 27. We did not take the breakfast option. No a/c but did not need it. Elevator to main floor areas but some steps to get up to where our room was. Check out was fine. Parking was in the public lot behind the hotel. We never had any problems finding s spot. The two people at reception were friendly. The women who checked us in let us know the bus schedule to the mont. Unfortunately the schedule did work for us. But we did visit the mont twice avoiding the crowds at night and early the next morning. We would absolutely stay here again.

"Absolutely charming!"
Family-travel-troupe, 22 Juillet 2016

Beautiful 15th century building nicely kept with friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Manager was very helpful and efficient. Doesn't feel like a chain hotel at all. Rooms were small but comfortable and had bathrobes and tea/coffee making facilities. Lovely view of sunset over the rooftops from the bedroom window. Breakfast was good and small courtyard garden a delight! Highly recommended.

"Hidden Gem in Pontorson"
mbjbapjp, 21 Juillet 2016

Imagine staying in a 500 year old hotel with all the modern amenities. That is what you will get at the Hotel Montgomery in Pontorson. A wonderfully charming garden was the perfect setting to share champagne for on of our party celebrating a birthday. The short makes it a great choice for your visit to Mont-Saint-Michel. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

"The ''knightly'' hotel"
deni385, 21 Juillet 2016

We travelled around France on a vacation with our little boy -3,5 years old. He's very keen on fortresses, castles, knights, sword fights etc.... The hotel was a pleasant surprised as I booked last minute and the first one around Le Mont Saint Michelle that seemed OK. The building is historic attraction itself and the interior is well corresponding creating a special atmosphere. At the same time it is clean and comfortable, has a small charming garden where you could enjoy a coffee or breakfast. The staff is very kind. The town is small but charming and in the middle of several interesting places to visit (if you travel by car-but there is also public transport to Mont Saint Michel for example). My son did not want to leave the place he called the knight hotel :) There is no special parking lot but we could easily find a place on the public parking places on the street in front of the hotel. It is may be a little more expensive for this category hotels compared to several others that later booking.com suggested. The price does not include breakfast (12-15 per person additional cost). There were some VAT added to the bill that was over the price of our reservation price in booking.com and was unpleasant surprise. Not a problem but we are accustomed to see the full price when purchasing something not having to additionaly expect taxes etc... Overall it was a really pleasant experience, and I guess the flaws are due to the way tourism is organized in the region as a whole and not their fault it differs from what we are accustommed in other countries. I strongly recomend it.

"Charming!"
staceyka2016, 12 Juillet 2016

Lovely! We truly enjoyed our stay here and in Pontorson! A wonderful location to visit St. Michele, and a charming town. The history of the hotel is so interesting and the lounge and dining rooms we lovely. Highly recommended!

"Great stay in Pontorson"
Tyler L, 29 Juin 2016

Enjoyed a 1 night stay here before exploring Mont St Michel in the morning. The place is a doable walk from train station in the heart of main shops and restaurants. I highly recommend staying here. The room was very clean and had a great nights sleep.

"Expectations more than met - fabulous hotel"
Londinium, 29 Juin 2016

The hotel is very well situated to visit the Mont-Saint-Michel as it is only a 10-minutes drive away from there. We immediately felt welcome and I really want to thank all the staff of this hotel as they were all helpful, smiling and extremely nice. We had 2 rooms, 1 double and 1 twin. Both were clean, with all the necessity amenities. Some reviews mention that the bathrooms are small: yes, they are small but the available space was smartly used so I do not have any complaint. The toilets are really small though ... Small + in the bathroom: the bathrobes! So practical and usually you don't get these in hotels except in executive rooms. One negative point: the hairdryer. If you have long hair, take yours to avoid staying there for a long time. Very comfortable beds and this hotel and we had a good sleep, no noise at all. We did not have breakfast there but had a few drinks in the garden as it was sunny. Prices are more than decent so don't hesitate. There are a few nice restaurants in the area, the hotel does not serve dinner. We also liked the fact that it is an historical house. There is also a free parking close to the hotel in the little street next to the hotel.

"Comfortable Beds"
John16752024, 23 Juin 2016

My wife and I stayed two nights in this hotel in a historic building. We found the mattresses on the beds to be very comfortable and the breakfast and dining room were very good. The bathroom was a little small for our liking and one had to be careful in getting in and out of the bathtub/shower since there were no grab bars or much of anything else to hold on to. The WC (toilet) was in an especially small separate room that was no larger than 3 feet by 3 feet, making it hard to turn around. The room had no air conditioning and was hot upon our arrival, but the hotel manager did provide us with a fan upon request which helped some. There is no mini-bar in the room. The Wi-Fi worked well, but was a bit cumbersome to log on.

"Just go!"
Natalie N, 14 Juin 2016

I loved everything about this hotel. This was such a great little find for us when we were looking for a place to stay on our trip to Mont St Michel. I couldn't believe it was a "Best Western". Coming from the states, I didn't know what to expect. It was better than I could have imagined. The room was clean, the staff very nice and the breakfast was the cherry on top. Self serve, eggs/cheeses/pastry/breads I even spotted salmon. Such a sweet little hotel, I would stay there again without hesitation.

"If you're visiting Mont St Michel by car, the BW Hotel Montgomery is an excellent hotel to spend a night(s)"
jahn716, 13 Juin 2016

As noted in the title, if you are traveling by car and are looking for a place in Normandy to stay while visiting Mont St Michel, then the Hotel Montgomery is a great accommodation - reasonable pricing, proximity (less than 10 km away from MSM), and the preservation of the old castle while maintaining modern comforts are the best features. Additionally, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the service was great! Compared to the overpriced rooms located actually in MSM, staying at the Montgomery is more practical not only in price but mobility as well (parking and lack of places to go at night are a major disadvantage of staying in the abbey area.

"Perfect base for visiting Le Mont St. Michel"
Jennifer L, 12 Juin 2016

I found this hotel by reading many reviews of hotels in the area. We needed something within close driving distance of Le Mont St. Michel. We booked this hotel and were very happy with our experience. We had two rooms for our family of four. One was a king bed with a twin bed too and the other room had a queen sized bed. We stayed one night and wished we had stayed at least 2. It took us about 10 minutes to drive to Le Mont St. Michel. We would definitely stay there again. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

"4 lovely days in lower Normandy and Britany"
SueAugust, 09 Juin 2016

The hotel was lovely, the staff was very attentive and the location was perfect for visiting Mont St-Michel, St-Malo, Dinard and Dinan. Pontorson is quiet, but there were several excellent restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel. It was very nice to retreat in the evenings to the calm of the hotel after a day of touring. We had a car, but the hotel is also very close to the railroad station if someone is traveling up from Paris by train and there is a bus that goes to Mont St-Michel. We loved the history of the hotel and the thick walls.

"Wonderful Hotel"
William L, 07 Juin 2016

This historic building features an extensive breakfast buffet, many cheeses, breads, cereals, meats and boil your own eggs in a beautiful large room. It was not warm enough to eat in their lovely garden. Room size was okay. Ours had an antique armoire with full-length mirror. Comfortable bed. Good bathroom. But I will always remember the kind, friendly, helpful staff, especially Goulven. I had to have surgery in nearby Avranches during our stay at the Montgomery. Goulven helped in too many ways to count. Pontorson is the closest town to Mont Saint-Michel, so if you are going to landmrk, book early at Best Western Montgomery

"Quiet and Quaint"
Heather M, 29 Mai 2016

While visiting St Michel, our friends and ourselves chose Hotel Montgomery and we definitely made an excellent choice. The rooms were elegantly decorated, comfortable and renovated, well equipped bathrooms. The young gentleman at the front desk was kind and helpful. Breakfast was served in a gracious dinning room and was more than adequate in flavor and variety of food. The hotel also features a small garden that is serene and meticulously maintained. Highly recommend a stay at the Hotel Montgomery!

"Great location for a visit to Mont St Michel"
SueBirk, 13 Mai 2016

My husband and I, plus friends, visited Pontorson because of its great accessibility to Mont St Michel. Pontorson was a great choice, and this hotel was a great find. It is a very old historic building, but the rooms are modern and comfortable. We found ourselves on the top floor (there is a lift) and we loved walking up and down the very old staircase with its uneven steps. I understand that there is a shuttle that takes one to Le Mont, but we had a car and so did not need it. The staff were very nice, very helpful, and we had a great time chatting with them. Breakfast was delicious and about 12 euros per person. Pontorson is a quiet town, but we managed to be there on May 8th which was the celebration of the end of World War II and were pleased to see a parade go by with a band and people waving flags. I would recommend this place if you want a quiet place to stay, but within good reach of the local attractions.

"English speakers feel welcome"
Micah5, 20 Avril 2016

My wife and I know very few words in French. That was not a problem at this hotel. The owner spoke very fluent English. He was also very kind and helpful. We loved this hotel. It was originally a mansion built in 1526. The down stairs and hallways felt more like a mansion than a hotel. We would stay here again if we are in the area. The wifi was fast enough to stream Netflix.

"16th Century Building"
peterscott21, 06 Avril 2016

As we walked in the front door, we were greeted by the manager who welcomed us and made us feel that we were honored guests. The rooms were spacious and just walking around gave you the feeling you were steeped in history/ All the modern conveniences were there including WIFI and the breakfast was a gem. You can walk to the hotel from the train station and it's there that you catch the bus for Mt. St. Michel. The Montgomery hotel is right on the main street. Great place.

"Very Nice Stay"
JDD109, 28 Mars 2016

We enjoyed one night in this historical hotel which is easy driving distance to Mont Saint Michel. (The history is actually very interesting!) The building maintains an old feel which being a fully updated room. The bed was comfy; the room was clean and spacious enough for two. The shower room and toilet room were two different rooms, not something we North Americans are used to. Our shower room also had a tub, but it had very high sides and it was difficult for this 5' 2" gal to step in and out of without popping a hip. Older people or those with mobility issues would struggle with getting in and out for bathing. Wifi worked well. Parking was plentiful, but around the corner from the hotel. It's a quiet little town, as was the hotel. We did not see or hear one other patron while we were there. We had no issues and the front desk staff were efficient and helpful though not always at the desk; twice we had to wait for service. I would be very happy to stay here again, though we did have trouble finding a place to eat within walking distance. (We stayed on a Monday night. The hotel recommended a pub down the road. We went and were told no food was being served, only drinks. We ended up wandering and finding a causal 'mom and pop' place that had excellent service and good food that was just around the corner from the hotel called Le Relais Gascon, which I have also reviewed.)

"Well Located and Comfortable"
Youngryman, 04 Novembre 2015

This hotel was perfectly situated for the night after spending a day at Mont St. Michel. The room was quiet and comfortable. Easy parking on the street around the corner. A restaurant 50 meters away, named La Baroque, I believe, was convenient and satisfactory for dinner. It gave us a chance to try the local "pre sale" lamb, a lamb allegedly having a special flavor due to being raised on the local salt marshes. It was decent but the uniqueness escaped my crude palate.

"An Historic stay"
Ray J, 17 Octobre 2015

If historic buildings and quirky interiors are your bag, then this Hotel is definitely for you. The building itself dates back to the 18th century, and by the angle of some of the treads on the magnificent staircase I would hesitate to say that it is probably original. The rooms are well appointed, and don't worry about having a room on the top floor as they have a lift, a rare thing in a rural French hotel. They do not do evening meals, however the town itself has numerous restaurants to choose from. The breakfast is good, however at 11euro you would expect it to be, the room itself is large and sometimes can get a little noisy. Not a cheap stay, but if your language skills are average you can negotiate a better rate or an upgrade. I managed an upgrade and free breakfast, so don't be put off by the austere looking maître de, give it a go.

"Happy with our choice"
happy_travelers_we, 13 Octobre 2015

This 700 year old building has guest rooms that are updated and very comfortable. The queen bed was two twins together and was not overly comfortable (kind of sagged in the middle) but passable. The location is good. There are several restaurants in the area that are very good.

"Near Mont St Michele"
PeteAndBarb_13, 27 Septembre 2015

Easy to find hotel in historic building. Good room. Nice breakfast. Only issue is that website lists 'Guest Laundry' as an amenity. To us that means there are washers and dryers on premise for rent. We have experienced this at other Best Western hotels. Here we were directed to a public laundromat some 5 km away or so. Not terrible but not as advertised.

"A medium level hotel"
Eytan M, 24 Septembre 2015

One of the reasons to go for an American chain is that you expect the same level of service and maintenance wherever you go. So we were disappointed, place is very old which gives it a flare but everything was old to a point it wasn't atmosphere but rather neglect. Shame. great Location though - and for a 3Euro20 you can forgo the Parking and shuttle ritual for Mont St michelle and take a direct bus from the central train station of Ponterson directly to the foot of the mountain - its a great workaround highly recommended. "Good deal for the location and service"
Micahglory, 26 Août 2015

This is a hotel with character, located at a convenient yet quiet area. The reason I picked this hotel is because of its location. It is a perfect base to explore St Malo, Cancale and Mont St Michel over a couple days as there is no straight route connecting these places but the hotel is conveniently located not far to their south. The room is very small but yet the design makes up for it. The small light-embedded shelves by the beds replace the bedside table well. The tissue box and hair dryer hung on the bathroom wall not only save some room but are also very accessible. The bathroom is tiny yet very functional, one would be surprised to see how much room it provides for the toileteries in a tiny bathroom such as this. The heated towel rail is a bonus for drying clothes. Breakfast is surprisingly good. The staff are friendly and helpful. Two things one should be well aware of: no air conditioning and the noise from the outdoor dining area on ground floor. I was there in early August, though it was hot during the day, it was perfectly comfortable during the night even without air conditioning as long as the windows are left open. But as I stayed on the first floor at the back of the hotel, every morning I was waken up by the noise of people dining at the courtyard below. Given the price and the location of this hotel, I would recommend it.

"Beautiful respite in a quaint village"
MicheleMichael1, 17 Août 2015

We arrived in Pontoson on a glorious sunny afternoon and we were delighted with this beautiful old hotel. Within walking distance from the railway station, it suited our needs for some rest and relaxation after completing the Hadrian's Wall walk in Cumbria. Our room (no. 3) was very clean and nicely decorated and overlooked the leafy garden. The staff were most welcoming and obliging. Wi fi is intermittent. The shuttle bus to and from Mont St Michel is very efficient. We would thoroughly recommend this property.

"A quaint hotel"

To visit the Abbey in Mont St Michel, we decided to stay at this quaint hotel. Yes quaint, because it's like going back to old times. Initially we thought the name was attributed to the famous British General , but not so. It takes the name from an apparent ancestor of the owner, Comte de Montgomery, dating back to the 1500's. Like most things in Portorson, everything is family run, so is this hotel. A good breakfast. But a not so good wifi. Because of the room position? The rooms are furnished in a tasteful style. A nice stay.

"Close ish to Mt St Michel"

Faded glory but adequate. Parking is in the public car park a bit behind the hotel. Better to stay inside the barrier in the modern complex. There is bus from Pontorson to the Mont which would save on car park costs and quicker. Not air conditioned but was well ventilated enough and no fan noise.

"Night away while caravaning in Feance"

Because the weather was rather wet we treated ourselves to a night stay at this hotel in Pontorson. It is a mix of new and old and the staff were very polite and friendly. The bed however was like sleeping on a piece of granite. It was really uncomfortable which was a shame. Breakfast wasn't up too much and the stewed apples were off unfortunately and I had to discretely spit them out. Tea and coffee was like warm so again not a very pleasant experience. We did say something at reception and they knocked €20 off the bill and were very apologetic but I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone else. Staff were lovely.

"Great Hotel"

Hotel with lots of charm. Although the rooms are not huge they are nicely decorated, comfortable beds, clean and effecient. The rooms have wifi, flat screen tv and coffee/tea. Staff is extremely attentive and friendly I loved the bar/lounge area. If I am in the area again I would definately return!
