Good: quiet rooms with virtually zero street noise, cookies from 4-6, location is excellent for visiting many historic sites, Keurig coffee machines with Starbucks coffee Mediocre: breakfast was good enough with hot options, breakfast has sturdy plastic dishes which is better than the disposable but definitely not a real dish, no mugs or glasses- just styrofoam or plastic, real cutlery sometimes but not always (seemed to have run out and offered plastic crap at our breakfast), breakfast room coffee was not great, room on the very small side of the spectrum

Very kind hotel staff. This matters a lot because Philly work ethic is terrible. I live 20 minutes away and spent 10 years living in the city. So it was remarkable that your front desk staff is so kind. I love the 24/7 coffee and tea and hot chocolate.

We went for a short weekend trip to Philly. Looked around for a hotel but everything had very high parking fees. Since we drove from NYC, it was something that we needed. I found the Independence Park Hotel and they had a very reasonable parking fee with in-and-out privileges. We ended up leaving the car parked and walked everywhere but it was great to have the option w/o paying extra. The hotel has been recently renovated and our room was perfect. We stayed in room 503. The view wasn't anything special but everything was clean and new. Some pictures in the reviews are from the older rooms. Another thing that we liked was that breakfast was included. Wide variety of hot and cold options. The staff was friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here.

I will not stay there again. Best Western has consistently failed to deliver best guest experiences since 2021. I also had given them multiple opportunities to make it right, but they continue to fail. Best Western has fallen out of my "preferred" hotel choice list. I will not be comfortable recommending any Best Western hotels to anyone. Positives: * Fast check-in and fast check-out by Craig * Walking distance to major landmarks at Independence Hall area * Smaller room but with cozy ambience. * Excellent hot shower temperature and pressure Negatives: * The room temperature was very cold with difficult temperature control to operate, gets colder and colder at night. Raised this issue between 8-9pm, they said they would fix by adjusting it remotely by the maintenance. Never did. It got even colder around 1am, I raised the issue again around 2:30am, the staff on duty called Sri said she would get it fixed. Nothing happened. I called again around 5:30am and Sri said she would come and adjust. Even she came to adjust it, the room temperature still did not change, still very cold. I called the front desk again around 5:45am, Sri told me to wait for another 10-15 minutes for the temperature to go up. It never did. The room remains cold until I checked out at 8am. What I did not appreciate was that they couldn't fix but kept on saying they could, and never did. They were not transparent nor honest. * Terrible breakfast. Bagels were not fresh. Others: * There is no on-site parking. There is temporary parking spot for loading and unloading in front of the hotel. They partner with a garage one big block away for guests to park their cars with a fee. It may seem complicated, but they make it easy and straightforward with good directions on how to get there. Not an issue if you plan to drive. A functional room includes a room where guests can adjust room temperature and that the heating/cooling system can also perform as commanded accordingly. It was a very negative experience. I will not stay there again. Shared issues with Craig at check-out and he waived the parking fee. I told him I would rather the room was functional and pay for the parking. Best Western Hotel Chain is not reliable. There is a Kimpton Hotel Monaco and Renaissance one block away along with other smaller hotels nearby. Try them. Do not stay in this hotel.

The bed and pillows were so comfy! The air conditioner was quiet, cold, and didn't blow on my face. I slept great! The hot chocolate bar was a welcome treat when we got back to the hotel at 10pm on a chilly night. The room was small, but had everything we needed. The location cannot be beat! Only complaint was figuring out the parking situation at the garage. That process could have been a little more clear at check-in. But that is hardly a deterrent from us staying here again the next time we're in town.

We were looking for a value priced hotel for a quick one night stay while visiting family in Philly. This hotel was very nice. It reminded me of some of the small boutique hotels I've stayed at in London. Artfully decorated interior spaces. The rooms themselves were clean and recent,y updated as a result of a fire at an adjacent property a few years back. The lobby had cookies, coffee, hot chocolate. The free breakfast was more than adequate. The neighborhood is amazing. Five stars all around. One note on parking. The garage they use is super affordable at $22 for in and out privileges. I parked at around 10 pm. And while the walk back is well lit, I'd imagine my wife would have been uncomfortable parking herself. The walk was maybe four minutes.

A+ experience. Great value, solid breakfast, reasonable parking fee. Every staff member we came into contact with were terrific. Room small , but functional , clean and well stocked. Lobby coffee and hot chocolate 24 hours. Location was an easy walk to everything downtown.

Excellent location, clean and comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff, solid (basic) amenities. Three blocks to Independence Hall, and across the street from the Museum of the American Revolution. Many, many restaurants and bars within a five minute stroll.

We have been visiting this hotel for many years now. We have stayed here when visiting our son who lives in Philadelphia. A couple times plans changed and the hotel was very understanding and accommodating. When we received news that our son had just died I thought I had made a reservation through Hotels.com but had not done it properly. When we arrived at the hotel staff assured us right away and got us in a room within minutes. We are using them again for people who are coming for our son's funeral. The atmosphere is warm and kind. We are so appreciative of their ability to both a place of celebration and a place of compassion. This is truly a special place.

We were in town for a wedding. The room was comfortable, the shower was fabulous! The free breakfast was very good and the fireplace in the lobby was quite inviting. Will definitely stay there next time we're in Philly!

Staff was welcoming, friendly, and provided for our needs. The included breakfast had many options and was served on plates and silverware (not paper and plastic). For other meals, there are many food options within walking distance.

From check in to check out my stay was perfect. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable and the front desk staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable. The location of the hotel is perfect for walking all of the historic sites. I highly recommend.

Our stay here was wonderful! The location is the best to see the top attractions in Philly. The hotel was clean, beautiful, and our room was very quiet. The staff were super friendly and attended to our needs in a timely manner. The breakfast was superb- scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt, cereal, pastries, oatmeal, and more. There are many restaurants just a block away. The bed and pillows very super comfy. I feel that for the price that we paid we got a very "lux" hotel experience. We would stay here again!

We stayed for the first time at this well located hotel last night and had a fantastic experience. Our room was an interior room on the 5th floor and very quiet. Our room was beautiful, small but spotlessly clean. Very nicely appointed. The bathroom has excellent lighting and even a makeup mirror. The towels are nice, not worn and thin! The exterior doors are locked in the evening and I appreciated this safety measure. A full breakfast was included with our rate in the lower atrium room. It's a buffet breakfast but with real plates, cloth napkins and silverware! At checkout I complimented the gentleman at the front desk and told him how much we enjoyed our stay. We had one very minor issue with our room, so minor I didn't need to report during our stay but did mention it at checkout and he was so on top of it to have the housekeeping make the repair. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and professional. While we did not have time on our one night stay we would have taken advantage of the complimentary use of a nearby gym if time permitted. I highly recommend this hotel!

My husband stayed for two nights and found the room to be very comfortable. Was a small mix up with the room no being ready, but it was fixed right away and we were given a different comparable room. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, but the afternoon cookies in the lobby were a nice touch.

Everyone at the hotel was so friendly, including housekeeping who said good morning and wanted to make sure I had a great stay when I left. The hotel is beautiful - the entrance, reception area, and rooms. Clean and well kept. Shower is very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again on my next trip to Philly. It's also very conveniently located, right in the historic area. Easy to walk around from there.

This is the second time we have stayed here and think very highly of the hotel. It is beautifully decorated and the staff from the front desk to the cleaning people are all very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are comfortable with darkening shades and little sound from the outside. They are modern and equipped with state of the art shower and sink. The breakfast buffet was very good and all in all we enjoy staying here. It is a great location as well.

My wife & I were on a road trip from Atlanta area to Canada & back; we wanted to visit the historical sites in Philadelphia and this hotel was in a great location, plus the reviews looked good. It was a perfect choice & I highly recommend the hotel! It's right across the street from the Museum of the American Revolution (perfect place to start your American history lesson!) and fairly short walk from Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, etc. Good restaurants all around the hotel within a very short walk too. Philly parking is a stretch, but public parking deck was a block away and hotel gave excellent directions on how to get there and then added the fee to your hotel bill which made things a lot easier. Room was great and the breakfast was fine too. They used real plates and utensils (no plastic!) WE stayed 3 nights and it was well worth it!

Excellent stay in old city. Historic hotel recently updated interior with a modern but still tasteful design. Location is convenient for exploring old city landmarks. Definitely a step above similar price points in this area. Nothing too fancy but Would definitely recommend.

Lift/Uber readily available for trips to Reading Terminal, Italian Market, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

My husband and I were in town for dinner, a Philly Fringe show, and brunch with our daughter. The check in was flawless, fast and efficient. When we entered the room my husband immediately said, "I'd stay here again". We do frequent overnights in Philly for concerts or special events and have stayed at hotels in Old City, and this one was the best value we've found.

Can't think of any negatives to say about our experience staying in this hotel. We arrived before check in time knowing that it was very unlikely our room would be ready. The front desk clerk stored our luggage for us & promised to call as soon as the room was ready. He called about 20 minutes later. When we returned to check in and every time we left the hotel or returned, the reception clerk greeted us or wished us a good time while out. There was free ice cold lemon water available all afternoon. Free cookies which were very tasty available for a couple of hours in the afternoon. This hotel was recently renovated so all amenities in the room (& lobby & breakfast area) were clean and new but the building retains some of it's original architectural details making it a very nice unique place to stay. Our room was facing the street on the 3rd floor. You could hear NOTHING! In the evening when we left to eat, as soon as we walked out to the street you could hear music playing quite loud and the noises of cars passing but in the room not a thing could be heard. We never even heard any other guests coming and going. The breakfast was tasty and varied. The buffet was kept clean and stocked by a dedicated attendant (unlike some hotels where the breakfast is also the responsibility of the reception staff who may be too busy to properly look after it). The location of the hotel was also great. It's right across the street from the Museum of the American Revolution, a few blocks from all the sites comprising the Independence National Historical Park and easy walking distance to so many other historical sites, restaurants, boutique shops, Penn's Landing & more! My top requirements in booking a hotel are (equally) safety, cleanliness & location. This hotel gets top makes in all 3.

This was an amazing experience! The staff were so thoughtful, friendly and always willing to help! The room was clean - breakfast was really good - plenty to eat! The hotel's location is PERFECT!! It's easy to walk to all the historic sites - and shopping is really not far and easily accessible! If you are going to visit Philadelphia I highly recommend staying at the Independence Inn!

The bed was super comfortable and the staff was all very friendly. Free breakfast and afternoon cookies, along with remote controlled curtains were all pluses. Overall a great value hotel in a convenient location that was very walkable to top attractions such as Independent Hall and Reading Terminal Market (<1 mi).

We stayed at The Independence Park Hotel one night on Sunday, August 13. Every hotel employee that we encountered was very friendly and welcoming. La'Rene was the wonderful staff member who checked us in and was able to answer all of our questions about the area. She presented us with a welcome gift bag which included 2 water bottles (greatly appreciated on a very warm day!) since we participate in the Best Western reward program. Our fourth floor king room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The furniture was in good condition and all amenities were available including extra towels . The bathroom was brightly lit and had a nice size walk in shower. The lobby and dining area were very clean and we could see that everyone working here cared about this hotel. The free buffet breakfast was great with many delicious choices including eggs, bacon, cereal and fruit. We especially loved the Liberty Bell waffles. A big thank you to Devin who assisted us with the waffle maker. She was in the dining room the entire time and made herself available to assist all the guests. We were impressed by the service, condition of the hotel and our room. The location is perfect if you want to walk to all the historic sites and museums. We would recommend this hotel as an excellent choice when staying in the historic section of Philadelphia.

Independence Park Hotel is a wonderful place to stay close to Independence Hall! From arrival and parking to our overnight and departure, everything was great! The staff was helpful and well-informed about the area, gave excellent directions and made us feel welcome! The room was well cared for and clean with everything we needed (and delightfully high ceilings!). The location was exactly what we wanted - just parked the car and walked everywhere for the weekend! Lots (and lots) of great places to eat nearby, too!

This hotel is beautiful and extremely comfortable. The staff were all so kind and helpful. We so enjoyed our stay! I had forgotten to mention my daughter is gluten free ahead of time and the breakfast staff was super kind about making her a gluten free waffle!

The bed was comfortable and the room was immaculate. The central location is also a huge plus. We were able to easily walk to almost all of the historic sites. Excellent employees like Debbie and Cici were an added bonus!

This was my first time staying at the Independence Park Hotel. The room was cozy, clean, and very well maintained. Super glad there was a mini-fridge in the room! The breakfast options were great. Check in and out was super easy and the staff were wonderful. Lastly, the location was fantastic. I will for sure stay here again when in Philly!

The location to the Olde City area (Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, etc.) cannot be beat. We walked it all without touching our car. Room was small but nice. It is a historical building after all. Staff was nice and professional. The one star was lost because the parking garage used didn't work with the badge given. It did let us out with the pass, so in the end it all worked out. If we had to do it again, we wouldn't buy parking from the hotel ahead and just use the garage tickets. It o ky saves three dollars a day. We also had a used bar of soap left in the shower. Easy to throw away, just kinda gross.

Stayed 2 nights & were very happy with it all. The rooms were newly refurbished & were clean, modern & comfortable. The breakfast options were varied and delicious. Fresh chilled water was always available in the lobby as well as complimentary cookies & cheese at certain times of the day. The location was excellent with all historic landmarks within walking distance. Great food options for all tastes, also within walking distance. Overall a very nice stay, highly recommend & will definitely come back

Hotel is in a central location, 5 minute walk to Independence Hall and the other historical sights. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice, a little small but not cramped. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was modern with good water pressure. Breakfast was good, loved the fresh waffles and lots of options. Cookie hour was a nice touch and coffee and water always available in the lobby.

I stayed here for a Bruce Springsteen concert at the Wells Fargo Center on March 23. The hotel was a very positive surprise! I had my suspicions about the level of service when I contacted the hotel via email for changes to my booking before arrival and the frequency and helpfulness of the feedback I then received was fantastic. The staff, from check-in to breakfast and the manager are outstanding with an extreme level of service. The hotel? The room I stayed in was quite large, bigger than expected and very clean and fresh with a good shower/toilet. The breakfast buffet exceeded expectations! I thought the location of the hotel was good, some historic buildings in the area, good access to parking and walking distance to the 'city'. Good and easy communication with local transport to Wells Fargo and the surrounding area. I would definitely not hesitate to stay at the same hotel if I ever visit Philadelphia again.

We stayed here while we visited Phildeplphia this was one of our favorite places so far. The staff is friendly and helpful with all questions. They are so prepared for check in, we had a car that we needed to park and the hotel gave us great step by step instructions on where to go to park and how to do it. The location of the hotel is excellent also you are close to all of the historical locations (they have a handy map which is super helpful) and there are a ton of food options literally all over. The rooms were super clean with comfortable beds and the sofa couch was comfy too. The breakfast was one of the families favorites good options to choose from the family favorite was the Libery Bell waffles so yummy! Would definitely stay here again!

I can't believe how I lucked into this amazing hotel after staying a nightmareish night elsewhere in Philly and having to find another hotel last minute. You can not beat the location. Walk to Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, etc.. hotel sits across the street from the American Revolution museum. I was in Philly for a concert and after I stopped at a late night pizza place 1 block down that hit the spot. So many restaurants and shops within a very easy walking distance. The hotel interiors were gorgeous and well maintained. My room was super clean, bathroom included. I had the smallest room option, which was closer to European size but it did not feel cramped at all. They make good use of the space with furniture, large closet, etc.. The walk-in shower was spacious with good water pressure. The shower was draining slowly, which I shared with the front desk on my way out. When I returned a few hours later, it had been fixed. Great hotel, didn't have any idea how much I would love Philly but I think between the city and this gem I will be returning after all!

This is our5th hotel in Philadelphia! And this hotel rate high on our list! We checked in on June 30th and checked out on July 2nd. We just drove down from NJ for the weekend. We love spending time and exploring in Philly! This hotel by far exceeded our expectations! The price, the location, the room, the amenities! No complaints at all. We will definitely stay here again! The breakfast was GREAT! We stayed in room 208 and it was great. Comfortable bed, pillows, AC unit works well, yesss room is smaller but so what! We were good with it. It was just the perfect size and our weekend getaway. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The complimentary cookies they put out for the guests were so good! Grab a few if you happens to see them out.

Nice hotel in great location. Conveniently located to many historical sites in Old Town. Also walking distance to the waterfront. Close to the Hop On / Hop Off Bus and the Septa. King size interior room was nice. Only negatives were the tv was kind of far from the bed and the window blinds let quite a bit of light in. Front desk staff could have been a little more friendly. One woman wasn't too happy about having to unlock the refreshment cabinet.

We spent one night while passing thru Philly. This is a beautiful historic hotel in a great location. The room was beautiful, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was also a very nice breakfast buffet included. Wish we could have stayed longer. Would not hesitate to stay again.

Chose this for location and reasonable price. The staff was friendly and professional, the room clean and cosy and their breakfast a good way to start the day. My only issue with my room was the thin walls and floor. I could hear the neighbors talking, who were up all night, and the people on the upper floor walking about.

We chose it because the Google reviews for this hotel were all excellent and responded to by the management team, whereas the one across town had a bunch of negative reviews, all of which went unanswered. This hotel lived up to its excellent reputation. It was clean, friendly, well run, and delightful.

I'm loving this boutique hotel! It's gorgeous and thoroughly enjoyable. Simply enjoying the music, fireplace, hot cocoa and decor in the lobby was a delight. We walked to museums, Love Park, Wanamaker's and excellent restaurants. The staff is so friendly and accommodating! Breakfast was great too! Comfy beds. What's not to like?

I recently stayed at the Independence Park Hotel. I was literally there just to sleep so I was at the hotel for about 12 hours! My room was tiny but I have to say that the hotel was super clean, the bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was modern with great smelling products! I loved the fireplace in the lobby too! You can't beat the complimentary breakfast - bagels, muffins, eggs, bacon, yogurt, oatmeal, juice, coffee and a waffle machine. Special shout out to the wonderful hotel staff I also encountered: Craig, Julian, Crystal and Lendy. You can tell that they all go above and beyond the call of duty to make their guests happy. I requested a quiet room so I faced another building but had a wonderful night's sleep. The hotel is located at a super convenient spot close to a lot of tourist attractions and I actually appreciated the fact that I had to be buzzed in at the front door when I arrived at night to check in. I would highly recommend it if you are visiting Philly.

Could not have asked for a more pleasant hotel in a more perfect location! Lovely little boutique style hotel -just steps from Independence Park, fabulous dining-and not too far from Reading Terminal and the museums—near transportation! We'll definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to others.

Excellent experience! Nearby parking, breakfast included, very friendly front desk (we got cookies on Thanksgiving), and perfect location (center of the area for visitors). I can't find a more cost-efficient hotel to stay in except this one. Highly recommended!

Until a few years ago, I'd lived most of my life in the Philadelphia area, worked in Philadelphia, and know it well. We had a great experience at the Independence Park Hotel. From accommodating our early arrival to the well-designed morning breakfast setup, the staff was friendly and welcoming. The room we had overlooking Chestnut St was large and spacious; very comfortable and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable, and, overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and recommend this hotel as a very reasonably priced alternative to any of the bigger hotels in Old City which has always been one of my favorite sections of Philadelphia. Located directly across from the Revolutionary War Museum, you can't beat the location for Old City/Independence Park access to sites and restaurants.

The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast is terrific, hot apple cider in the afternoon on a cold weekend, great location for a lot of Philly sites, and the price is reasonable. What more could you ask?

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times recently and absolutely love it! It's a small but cozy historic hotel with clean modern rooms. The bathroom has a great walk in shower, nice toiletries and plenty of quality bath towels. Beds are very comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance from restaurants and points of interest in the area. They provide a free breakfast buffet every morning and even have a cappuccino machine. All of the staff are friendly and helpful but I would like to give a special shout-out to Martin. He treated us like VIP's! I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Center City/Old City Philadelphia.

Perfect location. We were worried about parking on a one way narrow street, but they have loading parking right out front. We paid for parking through the hotel and were given a pass to park in a garage just around the corner for a very reasonable price. The staff were amazing! Super friendly, always saying hello and very helpful. Our room was clean and the free breakfast was just what we needed to start out our day.

This hotel is a great central location for the historic area of Philly and nightlife. When you're trying to jam a lot in on one or two days, this location is ideal. The rooms are a little smaller than expected, but considering it's a historical hotel and we didn't plan to spend much time in the room, it worked out well. The hotel also had plenty of amenities if needed- snacks for sale, lobby beverages, and breakfast included.

I stayed here for 5 days recently, and was very impressed with the hotel. The staff were helpful and pleasant, which was a great welcome when checking in, asking for restaurant recommendations, and anything else. My room was just a standard one, but was extremely well-equipped---both blackout and privacy curtains, unusually good lighting, clean, a comfy reading chair with its own lamp, desk, tv, everything. The bathroom was sparkling, with a great walk-in shower, lots of good quality towels, again, everything. They served homemade apple cider and cookies in the lobby every afternoon, too. The included breakfast buffet gets a very special mention, since it was actually a complete breakfast! Scrambled eggs with varying sides each day, a waffle station, yoghurt, fruit, etc. The only tiny caveat I have is that there were two televisions playing, with sound, during breakfast. Nobody was watching anytime I was there, so perhaps this is an idea which should be rethought. I came to Philadelphia by train, and found the public transportation to be excellent around this hotel. In fact, there are both a direct bus and a direct metro line going straight to the main train station, and another bus line going to the museum district. Yes, if I visit Philadelphia again, I would definitely come straight back to this hotel. Highly recommended.

When I was surprised with a lengthy federal jury duty stay, the staff went to great lengths to ensure I had an affordable rate and the flexibility I needed to be able to terminate my stay whenever the trial ended. Without extra cost to me. Staff was friendly and help with local eateries and transportation services. Safely stowed my belongings when the possibility of a possible exit arose. Breakfast offered great selections and good food. Well maintained and clean establishment. Safe area with a lot to offer. Staff was amazing!

Location, location, location,, is often what you hear about real estate but the Service was also the stand out here. We did love the location as we could walk to most of the historic sites we planned to see such as Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and many museums. Our queen bedroom was well appointed, although the rooms are small. A very clean hotel overall. It was a quiet night, an excellent full breakfast and parking was less than 2 blocks away and reasonably priced with in/out as often as you'd like for a 24 hour flat fee. The staff was wonderful; there was even a birthday card and nice box of chocolate candy for my birthday in the room. Several good places to eat within easy walking distance.We would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed here for 3 days and loved it. The breakfasts were delicious. The location was perfect and we walked to most of the historical sites each day. Staff was very helpful and courteous and a pleasure to deal with.

Wonderful location if you are interested in the Old City. We wanted to see the Museum of the American Revolution, (also great), and it is directly across the street. A beautiful combination of recent refurbishing and a gorgeous 19th century building. The Liberty Bell waffles for breakfast were a nice touch, and every member of the staff was very gracious.

Very comfortable hotel, well appointed, and great location.The TV remote was not working, and a replacement was brought to our room in a timely manner. Everyone at the front desk was exceptional. We left an item in the safe and it was quickly retrieved and sent to our home, very helpful when we called slightly panicked! Top notch.

Don't tell the rest of the BW locations but this one is the best! We had a great stay here. Unfortunately breakfast at this location starts later than others so we weren't able to experience that before we had to leave. Self parking is at a nearby garage. The rooms are updated and beautiful. Great features and higher end toiletries.

The location is wonderful. The building is boutique and yet spacious. The staff was friendly, helpful. The lobby had fresh coffee and cookies. The room was small, and cozy. The bathroom was brand new and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was full and had so many choices, It was buffet style and several staff members were there to keep food full and clean. Wonderful

AMAZING HOUSEKEEPING & FRONT GUEST STAFF - friendly, genuinely good people who go out there way to help!!! After a long drive the front desk went out of there way on our arrival & arranging an extra stays stay. And the housekeeping gals were 5*s in every way!

This is a lovely boutique style hotel in a great location. All the staff interactions were top notch. Typical breakfast hotel with enough offerings for all diets/restrictions. Some people may complain the room is small, but it is a fair trade for the amenties and location. Parking garage was around the block and easily doable for able bodied people. My son and I walked back to the hotel from garage around 11 PM after a baseball game and felt perfectly safe. Bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was easy to get to, with parking just around the corner in a secured lot, and convenient to historic district in Old City. Hotel was clean & quiet. Price was comparable to other hotels in the area.

Rooms were very small - very cramped (though clean) - BUT the location is excellent! Perfectly situated within walking distsance of everything. Friendly staff, decent breakfast. I was nervous about parking at first, but it turned out okay. There is no onsite parking, but you can pull up to the front door for 20 mins, check-in and onload your bags, and then move your car to the parking garage which is an easy few minutes walk away. Repeat upon check-out. Worked out well, and the parking fee was quite reasonable ($26) for a downtown hotel in the tourist section! Would stay again for sure. Recommended.

My family of 4 stayed here for two nights. Great location directly across the street from the Museum of the American Revolution and an easy walk to to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Ben Franklin Museum, and all the other historical stuff. Easy, reasonably priced self-service garage parking just a block away. Entire hotel is new, clean, and modern. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast buffet included in the price, basic hotel fare including make your own waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, etc and good coffee! Many great restaurants within a two block radius. Comfortable beds, clean, modern bathrooms. Great experience!

Delightful hotel located in Old City within easy walking distance to all the sites. The staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to enhance our stay. Our room was very nice, well-appointed and very comfortable.

We LOVED this hotel, it was exactly what we wanted - Historic District, Intimate, Friendly, Clean, Free Breakfast & near great restaurants. We got everything we wanted, plus free parking cause we stayed 2 nights. Great staff too.

My room was exquisite and had everything incl. a refrigerator. The place is new and spotless! The staff was well informed and I felt very safe in this 41 room hotel. In the heart of it all, yet very private. Directly across the street from the New American Revolution Museum. Restaurants of every cuisine as close as next door. Breakfast was wonderful!

Perfect getaway. The King studio with full kitchen has everything you need. Bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Hot breakfast helped cut down on outside spending. Sheryl from the front desk was especially friendly from the moment we arrived making our stay extra special.

The four of us had a corner room with a nice long hall which helped a bit to make up for the tight quarters - but that's part of staying in downtown Philly! You just can't beat the location for doing sightseeing there. The tiled bathroom was roomy enough and sharp looking. It included a wonderful mounted magnifying, light-up makeup mirror. Great shower. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. The fold-out couch was not so comfortable - it was quite stiff. I slept fine on it but others did not. Nice big window, desk, office chair, good sized fridge, Keurig coffeemaker. I don't believe we had a microwave. Lovely lighting, although one of the ceiling fixtures flickered a lot so we left if turned off - fortunately it was the only light on the switch by the bathroom. Very nice drapery. Looking at the photos of all the rooms shows some interesting variation, including novel variation in the walls: corners & nooks, etc. The breakfast was very good, great service & hospitality, many choices (even Nutella spread!) & a cappuccino machine! As well, cookies are available from 4-6 pm - very yummy! We went to all the big name sites in Philly and had a great time!

Hotel although not cheap was in a great place right in the middle of Philly's historic area so really convenient. Hotel itself is beautifully ( and newly) decorated and very clean - nice touches like coffee, iced water and afternoon cookies. Continental style Breakfast is included but it's pretty average.

We had one night in Philly during a road trip. We wanted somewhere near a lot of historic places that we could walk to. This was perfect. Discounted parking garage rate was $23. We walked easily to the Cherry St Pier on the river, up to Franklin Park, and to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. The Museum of American Revolution is right across the St. Lots of restaurants and some shopping nearby, although we did more sightseeing than anything. Friendly staff, delicious breakfast, comfortable bed.

The hotel just had the renovation so it is super clean. The rooms are not spacious but good enough and they have coffee machine in the room as well as cookies at the lobby. But breakfast could be better-there was not a single veggie. Guys, please put some cucummber or tomatto by your scrambled eggs!

The room like was a closet. If you paid for a window. It could cost you and additional fee. The initial odor was 100 % bleach. I guess this was the cleaning less they so proud . The staff was not rude but extremely not helpful. Parking is a rip off.

We had a long 6 night stay at this hotel so I feel I can review it pretty thoroughly. The location is great for a tourist - a very close walk to sites like Independence Hall, Liberty Bell and the like. We did Lyft rides to and from a few other further away sites, and they were pretty standard Lyft fairs. Our room was snug, however it really had everything we needed and we managed well in the room (with all of our stuff) during our stay. The room felt clean and fresh. There is a mini fridge which is helpful - (microwave in addition would be even more helpful!). We had the free breakfast everyday to start our morning off and it was very convenient. It's not anything out of the ordinary - scrambled eggs, some days sausage, juice, bagels, waffles etc. It was just nice to get something in our stomach and get going. The parking is an additional cost that can add up. $26/night. It's a garage one and half blocks away with no in and out privileges. Though we didn't have any issues with the garage my husband and I both nervously joked multiple times that the garage seemed like it could be sketchy - lots of twists and turns, confined areas, blind corners. I admit, I would feel a little uncomfortable if I were by myself at night. Although, again, we didn't actually have any issue. Perhaps just be aware. The block the hotel is on felt safe and people were almost always dining outdoors of the nearby cafes and bars. Overall I'm really glad I chose this hotel as I had wavered between a few options. I would easily recommend it or stay again if in the area.

This hotel was a gem for our short stay and visit of the historic landmarks and museums in Philly. Great location, very clean and comfortable, and the staff was super-friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean, modern, and very well laid out.

Love this place, convenient to everything in the Independence mall, staff has always been helpful, rooms are quiet. I've stayed here many times and plan on going back. Only negative was lack of lobby PC/printer to print boarding passes. Removed during recent remodel and no yet replaced...

Our small room had one queen bed, two small side tables, TV, 1 desk with a lamp, 1 mini fridge and coffee maker (didn't use) and ice bucket, one desk chair and 1 small arm chair The spotless bathroom had a nice shower with a shower door instead of a curtain which was nice. Hotel size shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and mouth wash, bar soap for shower as well as sink. Plenty of bath towels and wash cloths. No place to hang clothing so keep that in mind. Plenty of charging outlets for your electronic devices. Bed was very comfortable and the bedding and towels were of good quality. Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very ample with orange/cranberry juice, coffee, water, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, sausage patties, cereals, oatmeal, assorted muffins, English Muffins, bagels, and waffle maker. The waffle maker makes waffles with the Liberty Bell pattern. Pretty cool! The breakfast ladies were awesome - so friendly and helpful. Real linen napkins and real utensils not plastic. I was looking for a trash can and place to put my dishes and utensils and then I found out that you leave your plates behind and the ladies clean up for you. The breakfast area is on the floor below the main lobby and was very clean as well. In the lobby they also had lemon water and assorted cookies! We parked overnight in the Ritz East Parking Garage ($26 for 24 hours) - just a short walk from the hotel and had no issues. I want to give this hotel five stars but there was fan noise coming from the vent and it kept me awake most of the night. I didn't want to call the front desk simply because I didn't want a workman coming in that late to disturb other guests. Hotel is within walking distance of many of the historic attractions. We walked everywhere with no issues except for a few people asking us for money over on Market Street. I would stay here again for sure but would check out any fan noises before it gets too late in the evening.

Travelling with extended family and young family members (6&9) for Memorial Day week. Arrived Wednesday evening to a wine and cheese reception. All Hotel staff were exceptionally friendly. The hotel itself is within walking distance to so many top must see attractions inc. the Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin museum and post office, American Revolution museum, to name a few. Food options within walking distance are also endless! Sonny's for Philly cheesesteaks as recommended by front desk staff was excellent and the Lucha Cartel a few doors down was so good we ate there twice during our stay. The Mini fridge in our room was great for all the leftovers we accumulated during our short stay! The continental breakfast was a huge hit with the family including the liberty bell waffles! Biscuits and gravy was delicious. The rooms were just awesome. We had a room next to the elevator which first we were a bit concerned about noise and waking the kids up too early, but we didn't hear a thing! Rooms were beautifully stocked/maintained. The building itself was stunning. The only think to be aware of is that parking was off site. It was right around the corner in a parking garage where we left the vehicle for the duration of our stay. Everything we were wanting to see was within walking distance or close to a hop-on/off bus pick up spot. We'll be coming back for sure.

Literally just a few blocks down Chestnut St from Independence Hall. This just reopened in April after a fire (in 2018 I think). They have the hot breakfast up and running and Latisha takes good care of you. Wine and cheese on Wednesday evening and cookies at 4 every day. It is a city hotel so rooms are small, but very well appointed. We got a great rate and loved our stay.

Absolutely perfect choice! I was overwhelmed by the number of hotels but I couldn't have made a better decision. It's a 4 minute walk from the Natl Park with Liberty bell, Independence Hall and all the other tourist sites are close by. The attendant said the hotel has been open a month so the older reviews were likely before the full renovation. The room is just like the photos and it feels like we are the first to stay here. Bright white sheets and towels, new carpet, cookies at night, typical continental breakfast but the location makes up for that. Restaurants within a block nearly every direction. Fridge in room and nice size clean bathroom with glass shower. Room overlooks the Museum of the American Revolution and easy walk to the pier. Love this place! I will say parking is a block away in a parking garage that's $26 with no in and out privileges so you can't leave and come back. I recommend taking the Double Decker tour bus which picks up 3 mins away and allows hop on hop off at 28 sites. Parking is terrible everywhere and driving is stressful if you aren't used to it.

As we searched enroute for a hotel in downtown Philadelphia, this hotel ad popped up first. At the time the rates were very low .. almost too low to believe. We wondered what we were getting into when we booked the room. The stay here ended up being the highlight of our trip. We did not realize that this hotel had just opened. Our room was small but very well appointed in every way. We felt pampered. The location was perfect for seeing all the historical sites. The gals running the breakfast room were very friendly and helpful. That goes for the front desk staff as well. This is especially noticeable since everyone was getting used to their jobs, and we were there during a marketing photo shoot. The prices are higher now but if you can swing the cost, you won't be disappointed in your stay.

We walked to all the historic sites from here- Independence Park, Jefferson's Franklin's and Betsy Ross' houses, waterfront park and all of the old streets and alleyways. Good restaurants nearby too. Our room was clean and quiet. The staff was great!

This is an ideal spot to have access to historical sites, restaurants, stores, and museums. This recently renovated hotel is such a relaxing spot in the middle of a busy city. The bedding, shower, and even the ceiling height in the rooms created a soothing overnight stay.

We had a great stay! They were able to accommodate our early check-in. The later check-out time (compared to other hotels) was VERY appreciated, also! The room was very clean, and quiet, with great products provided. The breakfast was unexpected but very happy I didn't skip out! Hot waffles, biscuits, gravy + yogurt, and granola bars. The staff was excellent with information and very friendly. Will recommend to a friend and hopefully stay again next time we are in town. Thanks!

A local told me there was a tremendous fire and was surprised to see the hotel reopened, but he was also elated and I concur. My stay began with a great introductory price and accommodations were ADA compliant. the front desk was professional, courteous and helpful. I loved how cookies and coffee were available in the lobby in the afternoon. my room was amazing. King Bed ADA rollin shower with queen sofa bed. the king bed was so comfortable, the sheets gorgeous, and the towels really soft and beautiful. having the couch made me feel more at home, as well as the Keurig so I could make coffee in the morning. I loved how you just had to slightly tug the beautiful ceiling to floor drapes to open and close, revealing chestnut street, so a little noisy at 5am when garbage trucks picked up. and there were lots of parks, historical sites, and restaurants within walking distance. The roll in shower was a great help with my mobility issues, my only complaint would be there was no shelf to put your toileltries in the shower, and there was no toilet paper roll holder. with those 2 easy additions, there would simply be nothing to complain about. such a sweet, comfortable, bed and breakfast style boutique of excellence, I will return when I am again in Philadelphia.

This hotel I believe has been recently completely refurbished and they've done a wonderful job. Everything is brand new and completely fresh and looks lovely. The rooms are great, nice decor and bed was absolute heaven! I think something has gone wrong with the breakfast offering though, there is virtually nothing to eat. The website states 'a complete breakfast', but it is far from that, I think someone must be prone to exaggeration. All I could find was coffee, bananas, cereal bars and yogurts, that's it! They'll make you a waffle, but honestly you'd get the same breakfast in any standard motel! Not sure what is going on here? I could see other guests wandering around bewildered too!

I was called to federal jury duty in Philadelphia and this hotel was on their list of suggestions. Great price, well within the federal per diem and an easy walk to the courthouse. Queen bed room was small, but bathroom was nice, had a desk, free Wifi and TV. A woman traveling alone, I felt safe and secure. Self park was around the corner but not a problem. Right across from new Museum of the American Revolution. Would definitely return.

The hotel was recently remodeled and it is gorgeous. The room was very clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast included waffles served to our table. There is a tea and cookie time every afternoon starting at 4:00 pm. Yummies cookies! The hotel is located within easy walking distance to numerous attractions and eateries. I highly recommend this facility. You park your vehicle at a parking garage that is located about a half block away. This was not an inconvenience

My siblings and I stayed at this hotel specifically for the location and proximity to historic district and tourism stops. We had no idea before booking that this hotel was as beautiful as it was; it was a pleasant surprise! Staff members were helpful and friendly. Hotel rooms and common areas were clean, tidy, and welcoming. Bedding was soft and light. Room temperature is easily controllable for optimal comfort. The bathroom mirror is lit nicely, and there is a secondary mirror that can pull away from the wall, which was an amazingly helpful touch for doing makeup. It may seem trivial, but these little things really add up. There is ample space to drop off luggage upon arrival, and the parking garage is conveniently within a short walking distance. I can't wait to come stay again in the next month or so.

Do not go to this hotel. Five Letters, nasty. Molded bathroom, bubble gum on carpets, missing light in bathroom and limited toiletry. Staff did not care at all. I am still waiting for a refund because they ruined my anniversary! Stay outside!

The hotel was lovely and clean. The staff were very accommodating. Harry in the breakfast area was a joy. His happy smiling face greeted us each morning and was so patient with the kids. The breakfast area was always clean.

We stayed in this hotel first several years ago. Pleasant, with its own style, in the middle of the historic heart of Philadelphia. Very pleasant staff. The hotel seem to have upgraded from what i remember and kept up with adjustments and improvements. Nice standard rooms, convenient location of the garage. Breakfast included is always a plus. Would stay again given an opportunity.

First of all, I will comment that I now understand that there has been a fire at this location, and while my heart does go out to those affected, Best Western needs to better communicate this information to their customers. It is my understanding that this fire occurred almost two months ago, yet just this week, I received a random email cancelling my reservation for the weekend following Memorial Day with no explanation as to the reason for the cancellation. When I called the Best Western call center, no one at the call center was able to tell me why my reservation had been cancelled either. The only response they could give me was the hotel is listed as "unavailable." They were finally able to connect me to someone directly at the hotel who told me they had smoke and water damage due to a fire and would not be opening until 2019. No recommendations for an alternative hotel were offered. I post this review solely so others like me who may be trying to find information about their reservation have the information needed to make an informed, timely decision about their trip itinerary.

Our first floor room overlooked the main street yet was pleasantly quiet, with instant hot water, and was roomy enough for both of us. Breakfast was superb! soft classical music is played as you dine on a wide variety of dishes that will suit most culinary traditions, and the tables were set with clean linen everyday. A bonus was the complimentary tea and cookies served at 3.30 pm.

My husband and I have stayed at The Independence a couple of times now. As previous people have said it is ideally situated, good hotel and above all the staff are so nice. Never stayed on a Tuesday so can't comment on the wine and cheese evening. The cookies and coffee are much appreciated after a day of walking. So much to see and do around this area. A must is the Museum of American Revolution, right opposite. Quite a few restaurants around. We were so sad to hear about the fire last week. Our thoughts and best wishes go to all the people concerned on that dreadful morning, especially the staff who work at The Independence. Hope everything goes well for The Independence and you will be up and running in a couple of months.

The Independence Park Hotel is a 36 room property on the National Register of Historic Places that sits in possibly the best location for exploring Olde City Philadelphia. Under the Best Western Plus label it offers an expanded continental breakfast in the downstairs atrium and on Wednesday evening, a wine and cheese buffet from 5-7pm, that is outstanding. Parking is around the corner, a short block away for $18 a night with in and out privileges. There are 2 reserved spots in front of the hotel for easy loading and unloading. It sits right across the street from the outstanding new Museum of the American Revolution. The 3 night trip over Valentine's day was outstanding and look forward to returning to this excellent hotel.

This is a reply to Badger 781. We were in the hotel when we had to evacuate at 3:30AM on Sunday, Feb. 18th. If you had seen the 4 alarm fire 2 doors down that took almost 24 hours to put out initially and almost 500 firefighters working you would not be so quick to condemn hotel personnel. They had to coordinate with several city entities and figure out how to help us get our stuff back No hotel personnel were able to be in or near the building, so please cut them some slack about lack of communication. We had 3 different employees helping us and who were in touch as often as they could be, and because we were on the first 3 floors were able to retrieve our belongings Monday afternoon. The basement is completely flooded and the 5th (top) floor basically doesn't exist anymore. This is a wonderful property and we will be back next President's Day.

My siblings and I made reservations at this hotel for a family get-together in March 2018. My sister and I made our reservations directly with the hotel; my brother used Booking.com. In mid-February, Booking.com notified him that his reservation had been cancelled. He called the hotel only to get a recording saying that there had been a fire nearby and the hotel would be closed for 90 days. Yet neither my sister nor I were ever notified of this, despite the fact that we are Best Western Rewards members. To make it even worse, the phone recording gave a 1-800 number and said we were welcome to call that number to cancel our reservation and be placed in another Best Western Plus hotel. Really? Best Western requires US to cancel our reservation at a hotel that is closed because of a fire? And Best Western implies that the only way we can cancel is to agree to go to another of their hotels. As resentful as I was about this, we did make reservations at another Best Western Plus just because we wanted to get reservations ASAP without doing a bunch of research and coordinating again. Unfortunately, this hotel, the Best Western Plus Convention Center, was less centrally located and more expensive than the Independence Park. Count me NOT IMPRESSED with Best Western Plus!

This hotel is an ideal spot to use as a base for exploring Old City. Many museums are within walking distance. Their parking facility is close by and allows for easy, repeated entrances and exits daily. Staff was helpful and courteous. Great morning coffee, a must for me!

We stayed here for two nights and would definitely return to this hotel! Perfect location in the historical district. There are a lot of thoughtful touches, such as the afternoon tea and cookies, and the roaring fire and comfortable sitting area with bowl of fruit in lobby. Breakfast was outstanding and another nice touch is breakfast seating at tablecloth'd tables (decorated for Valentines Day!) from red velvet waffles to chobani yogurt, the options were great! Breakfast and front desk staff were also very friendly and helpful. This is an historic hotel, so be aware that the rooms are small, but all amenities are there. 36 room hotel. We loved our stay and will recommend to others coming to Philly!

The room was small, but cozy for a couple on a romantic weekend getaway. The hotel is certainly historic with beautiful architecture, though the walls are thin and at times sounds carried into the room. The location is great, with easy access to historical sights, theaters, and museums. The breakfast staff was friendly and the breakfast itself was plentiful.

This hotel to start is in a fabulous location. Breakfast buffet was great. It was restocked with plenty of choices. Had a great breakfast every morning. It is located right next to a great restaurant. You can walk to all the sites with where this hotel is located. Loved the inside historical setting that you walk into.

Extraordinary medium-priced hotel in historic part of Philadelphia! Everything was first rate. Rooms are very comfortable and even though the property is over 100 years old the rooms are definitely updated. Breakfast area is very nice and the breakfast buffet has a good selection including numerous items for those who want to eat healthy, like hard boiled eggs, whole wheat toast, Chobani yogurt and fruit. Also I want to thank Joe and Brice for their great hospitality and keeping things in top shape. Parking is available at a garage 1 1/2 blocks away - check if it is included in your room rate as that was so in my case. All in all an extremely pleasant stay

Ok... Best Western does not necessarily evoke fantasies of a splendid hotel but in this case, as I was, you'd be wrong. This is a cozy, delightful little property in Philadelphia's Old Town just off of Independence Park. Wonderful, attentive service; small but well appointed, extremely clean rooms; homemade snacks and fresh coffee all day in the lobby which has a fireplace, (gas unfortunately), going all day and a large restaurant which, unfortunately, only serves breakfast from 7-10 AM. The bed, king size, was comfortable with crisp linens and the property is wonderfully quiet for sleeping irrespective of the fact that it is surrounded by popular bars as well as restaurants. My only two issues, which are minor, are that it does not have a full service restaurant and parking is self-parking and off-property about 1 block away. The lack of restaurant is not an issue due to the hotel's location and the parking may only be a problem in truly inclement weather. Otherwise this place is just lovely... Go and enjoy both it and the lovely Old Philly area!

Nice Hotel, but no over night parking at the location, you have to spend $18.00 to Park up the street and around to corner at the public garage and walk back alone( if your by yourself) back to the hotel

A lovely quaint warm historic feeling hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. There is an additional charge per night for inconvenient offsite parking that is a block+ away. Room was in need of some updating and repair. Overall a nice place and convenient to center city but not worth the price we paid.

From the moment we entered until the moment we walked out 3 days later, the stay was absolutely perfect. The hotel was charming and historic and the beautiful fireplace welcomed us from the freezing temps outside. The location could not have been better! The staff was excellent!

This is a wonderful place to stay. The location is the best. The staff are super friendly and professional. The rooms while small are clean and comfortable. The breakfast and afternoon tea are first rate. I can't say enough good thinks about the hotel. Plus the cost is very reasonable. I stay about 40 nights a year at the hotel. Would not go anywhere else. This place is a gem. Sometimes my wife joins me and many of the best restaurants in the city are within a block or two.

We visited Philadelphia for the first time for a family wedding; the hotel was perfectly located. A short stroll to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, close to the river - great if you want to go for for a run in the city - and close to museums, bars and some great restaurants. Our room was quiet, clean and every member of staff we came in contact with was kind, helpful and full of fun. We will return on our next visit - thank you!

If you are looking for a cozy hotel in the heart of historic Philadelphia, look no further. This is an old hotel dating back to the 1850's. It is well worn but with its own unique charm. It has only 36 rooms. Because it is so small you feel as if you are in a B and B, from the welcoming fire in the entry living room to the incredibly friendly, helpful and delightful staff. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available all day with warm, home baked cookies appearing about 4pm in the living room. There is also wine and cheese night on Wednesday's where the guests can get together prior to leaving for their evening's activities. Breakfasts are delicious with a menu that varies daily and includes waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, pastries, etc. It is directly across from the new Museum of the American Revolution and literally steps from all of the other historic buildings, so there couldn't be a better location for walking to everything you want to see. Very reasonably priced as well. Try it, you'll like it!!

We had 6 rooms at the hotel. We stayed for one week. We had a few glitches as any hotel can have when you stay a week. However, the staff is on any problem in a heartbeat. They are friendly and accommodating. My granddaughter got married and lives in Philadelphia. We took over the lobby area many times visiting with each other. There was always hot coffee, tea and cookies in the afternoon. Cheese and wine was served on the weekend. Great walking area to all events.

I have stayed here on several occasions, and have been satisfied with each trip. The staff, facility, and amenities are excellent. The value paid for the location, with its proximity to historic sites in Philly, make this hotel a great place to stay.

My spouse and I went to Philadelphia for an overnight in celebration of our anniversary. This hotel, in an historic building, is literally across the street from the new Museum of the American Revolution, which anchors the southeastern end of Independence National Historic Park. We received numerous emails prior to our trip with information to help us arrive with no glitches. Initial tricky part: parking in front of the building in order to check in. Parking enforcers are dogged. Be sure to get a temporary pass before going. The interior is beautiful. Each and every employee we encountered couldn't have been nicer. All are dressed smartly, even the guy who was doing maintenance work. The high-ceiling room was a bit small -- remember, this is an historic building -- but the layout of furniture is very good; we were very comfortable. We had a refrigerator but not a microwave. Amenities were quite nice. The room was pleasantly decorated and very clean. There seemed to be a full contingent of wait staff for breakfast. We ate on real plates using real silverware and cloth napkins. Dirty plates and glasses were cleared regularly. The Belgian waffle station was highlighted by the woman who greeted us and gave explanation of the layout. The scrambled eggs had some sort of different taste to them. Not bad, just different. According to the information placed on each table, sausage and bacon are available on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. On the other four days, it's sausage gravy. There was a wide array of choices; I don't see why someone with a specialized diet couldn't find ample food to his/her liking. Would we go back? Absolutely. One of its best selling points is location, location, location. We could easily walk everywhere we wanted to visit in the Historic Waterfront District, including a decent number of restaurants. We saw absolutely no evidence of crime or anything that would have been unpleasant to encounter. Every BW employee treated us as if their most important job was to attend to our needs. A luxurious feel at a Best Western Plus price. We had a great time and our stay at this BW Plus hotel played a major part in creating a memorable stay for us.

We loved this hotel. I admit I avoided booking it at first, because I have had some bad experiences with Best Westerns in the distant past. But this is actually a luxury hotel. The service was great, the rooms were well appointed, the bathrooms were very nice, and the location of the hotel cannot be beat - just steps to all the historic attractions Philly has to offer. The breakfast was chaotic and I wouldn't call it fancy, but it was just fine. The elevator is pretty slow, but it does come around eventually. Overall, highly recommended.

The Independence Park is a small hotel, old and somewhat tired, but in a fantastic location for historic colonial Philadelphia. It is directly across the street from the new Museum of the American Revolution and just down the block from Carpenter's Hall and Independence Hall. The hotel is rather shabby, but rooms are clean and comfortable and breakfast is included. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. The price is reasonable. Free coffee and tea are available all day in the lobby and cookies at tea time. On Wednesdays complimentary wine and cheese are available at cocktail time.

Stayed here for a holiday trip with my wife and three teenage boys (we got two rooms). This is small hotel centrally located with easy walks to all the historic sites and restaurants. Rooms are small but comfortable and clean. Good free breakfast with attentive staff and clean presentation. You have to park at a nearby lot not at hotel, but it was easy and no problem at all. Rates were were relatively inexpensive especially with AAA discount. Nice warm festive decorations for holidays. A special note to say this hotel has the most friendly, helpful, and accommodating staff I have experienced at a hotel. Very genuine... not “fake” customer service. Especially Bryce at the front desk who really took a lot of extra time to make sure we were taken care of both during check-in and afterwards. Thanks Bryce! You rock!

This is a great location right across the street from the Museum of the American Revolution and a very short walk to the Benjamin Franklin Museum, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, etc. It was great being able to park our car (which at $18 was significantly cheaper than other hotels in the area) and do everything on foot. It was a nice touch to have hot chocolate and cookies in the lobby from 4-6 and free breakfast was very substantial. Lobby was inviting and decorated nicely for Christmas. There's no fitness center, but you get free access to an actual gym a few blocks away (on the one hand, a hotel fitness center probably would have been open 24 hours, but on the other hand, the real gym had much better equipment). The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I was hoping for better customer service courtesy and that things like the cable should be checked before guests arrive. We went site seeing shortly after we arrived so by the time we came back it was late and not to have cable for the children to settle down to was not good.

This hotel was our overnight stop on the way from NY to DC having landed in the afternoon in NY. Everything was great - breakfast was good and so was the spread, free coffee throughout the day and cookies and coffee/tea was available from 4-6pm, comfortable and largish rooms in a hotel in a historical building. Near Independence Hall and historical sites. Parking was in a multi-storey car park 5min walk away.

The hotel is in a beautiful historic building in the heart of the old city. There is an abundance of bars and restaurants within the local area. Check in was quick and easy and all the staff are exceptional. Our room was on the 4th floor. It was clean comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast is included, a very good selection with hot choices that change daily. Would definitely stay again!!

This is a historic hotel. The quality of the building and lobby stood up to the historical significance of the building. The staff were truly friendly, not just a corporate presentation. they communicated on a personal level for all members be it mangers, housekeeping, laundry, breakfast staff. Very well run

A fantastic gem in the historic quarter of Philly. Located near the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and the Museum of the American Revolution. An excellent breakfast and beautifully decorated for Christmas with a very helpful and courteous staff. Terrific value.

Came to Philadelphia for Army-Navy game. As a BW rewards holder, we were thrilled when we found this hotel - a perfect match for our love of historic hotels - and it didn't disappoint. For such a huge event weekend, we thought the price was very reasonable. Located virtually at the center of the Independence Park Historic area. Fabulous location close to subway or even walking to central city area. Perfect location to take subway yo the game at Lincoln field. Rom as nice size, clean and well maintained. Bed was soooo comfortable. Pillows - way above normal for most hotels at this mid-range price. Staff was a 10+ in all facets of ; friendly, helpful and just plain pleasant to talk to. We will stay here again for sure.

We visited Philadelphia with another couple, and stayed here for 3 nights. I'm not usually overwhelmed by a hotel--you stay there at night(maybe have breakfast). BUT this place was different. First, location is excellent to a number of places to see, like Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Museum of American Revolution. It is also a stop on the Phlash bus that takes you to a number of other destinations in Philadelphia. Second, and maybe most importantly, the staff made you feel extremely welcome. This was not just a "good morning" type hello, but they actually engaged you, asked how you day was, where are you going today?, have you seen this? type of conversation. I did not meet one person who was not smiling or friendly. Third, great breakfast. Good way to start your day. Fourth, rooms were just fine, quiet, and comfortable. Just, an all-around great place to stay.

Staying at the Independence Park Hotel was a wonderful experience! It is a boutique hotel, part of the Best Western Plus family, but totally unique. The location is right across the street from the new Museum of the American Revolution (which is another gem) and near many historic places. The lobby is warm and welcoming. We were upgraded to a king room that was clean, tastefully decorated, had all the amenities (such as microwave, good sized refrig, lovely soft towels), and a comfy couch. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We got a great recommendation for a dinner restaurant close by! The free breakfast was a cut above the normal one at Best Western with many options and served on china with cloth napkins, no paper plates! On the first time there, a hostess gives you a personal tour of all the offerings and staff is present to refill food and help with any questions. Overall, this is a hidden gem in Philadelphia hotels.

We had a great weekend. Attended the annual Holiday Open House at Elfreth"s Alley, numerous Museums and Independence Hall. All are easy walking distance from the hotel along with many restaurants.. American Revolution Museum is across the street. WONDERFUL! Parking garage is just around the corner with easy in and out.

This is a convenient hotel which only has 36 rooms, centrally located in the historic district and across the street from the new American Revolution museum. Staff goes out of their way to accommodate you! They helped extend my stay to get me another night; they made wonderful recommendations on food in restaurants and then followed up to ask me my opinion about the restaurants; they gave me a room on the top floor as requested; and they asked me repeatedly about their own service and breakfast. I felt valued as a customer and a guest. The accommodations were clean and quiet. I will return to this delightful hotel.

I stayed in this hotel as my daughter was getting married---The hotel was beautifully appointed--and the staff was very friendly, and professional. I would highly recommend staying here since it is a historic building and is decorated accordingly-plus it's in the best part of the city for touring, and eating.

The Independence Park Hotel was a wonderful little hotel in the middle of Philadelphia! A definite highlight of our short visit. Close to restaurants and sites but lovely from the lobby to the breakfast to the rooms! An old building well kept up with roomy bathrooms and character throughout!

We really enjoyed our stay. Clean, quiet, comfortable rooms. Great hot Apple cider and cookies from 4-6pm. Nice hot breakfast with waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, pastries, and much more. Excellent location in the historic district.

There are many things to recommend about this hotel. The location could not be better as it is right across the street from the new Revolutionary War museum, and a block from Independence Hall. In other words, it is right in the center of historical Philadelphia. There are numerous restaurants and pubs within several blocks so you don't have to go far after a day of sightseeing. The hotel itself is in an old doll factory and retains some charm, and the room we had, which was an upgrade, was spacious, quiet and clean. The breakfast is several notches above what we were expecting and everything was hot and fresh, and served by a very friendly staff. The desk staff was welcoming and friendly. Lynnsy was especially helpful before our visit, providing many helpful suggestions, tips and some money saving ideas for our niece, who is a university student. THANK YOU Lynnsy! We really enjoyed our three night stay.

I highly recommend this BW hotel Independence Park walking distance to all the historical sites. ALL staff very friendly and hospitable! Very impressed with the decor of this 1857 historical building. Enjoyed the coffee, hot mulled cider table in the lobby throughout the day and the complimentary wine and cheese reception on Wed eve. great breakfast as usual. This hotel has the most amazing staff. They are quite professional and extremely courteous and willing to go beyond expectations to ensure your stay is perfect. The physical environment is quite appealing and the amenities are excellent. It definitely felt like home away from home. The breakfast experience was also wonderful.

This hotel is in a wonderful location,Located 1 block from the PHlash bus that takes you around to all the tourist sights.(Free for seniors) Only $5 dollars for all dav use. The rooms are small but fine for a short stay.Breakfast was quite nice especially the waffles that have the liberty bell in the middle.All the people that work there were lovely and friendly.Their eating recommendations were spot on.This is a historic Hotel

Wow what can I say? Best hospitality staff anywhere?? Yes!! Bryce at check in helping with us with a cab to the concert and suggestions for dinner. Melinda and Nancy at an amazing breakfast. It was like we were guest in Ms Nancy's home for breakfast. The decor and place settings, quality and selection of food was top notch. Don't forget Ms Debbie, who greeted us in the hall, introduced herself, and asked if we needed anything for our room. Great property, great people, my wife just loved the pillows and mattress. We had a wonderful stay Thank you!

This hotel is an historic landmark, which is perfect for where it is - a couple of blocks from the liberty bell, independence hall, Betsy Ross house, Ben Franklin grave and across the street from the Museum of the American Revolution. Take the Philly Phlash bus to get to other museums. Many wonderful restaurants in the area.

Everything was perfect. I could end this review there, but I want to add a few comments. I don't give 5 stars unless there is something above and beyond about the location. This one earns those and more. How many hotels have hot apple cider in the lobby to warm you after a cold day outside. That is a plus. The entire staff is happy and friendly. Another plus. The location is excellent for the oldest part of the city. I read reviews before I book a hotel. I must say this about the negative ones I remember. Yes. The rooms are small. Every been to Europe? The small rooms add to the atmosphere in my opinion. We walked through the parks at Carpenter's Hall, behind Independence Hall, and Washington Square every night. Not one did we worry about our safety. There were always people coming and going and there was enough light to see. We felt completely safe.

Old country with historical flare. I loved that you walk around and see the sights all within short walking distances. I attended a seminar with other people and we were able to walk around before it got dark to see the old historic sights and the liberty bell. Very clean room, was very satisfied with the over all experience of the staff. everyone was quiet nice.

Hotel, room, staff and breakfast were all exceptional. The location is perfect for visiting all of Philadelphia sites. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Public transportation was convenient and easy. Though on a Main Street, it was remarkably quiet in the hotel. Room was large as well as the bathroom. The room was clean and well maintained during the stay. Had a problem with the TV the staff as on it instantly and completely remedied it, thanks Lesley and maintenance man. Breakfast was good with the variety of a rotating menu, well stocked, kept clean with cheerful and helpful staff - thanks April. Cookie, fruit and lemon water in the afternoon were a welcome treat after a day of sightseeing. Parking, loading and unloading luggage were made easy in a busy city.

This hotel has a perfect location in historic Philly..directly across the street from the Revolutionary War Museum. We went to a play at the Arden which was a very short walk from the hotel. The front desk clerk went out of her way to suggest restaurants and make our stay easy. The staff, all around, is friendly and helpful. Nicely restored old hotel with charm and character...much like its employees.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Independence Park Hotel last night. The front desk person, Brynn, was extremely welcoming and helpful. I was the VIP guest for the stay and received a free upgrade to our room ( which was beautiful) a cloth bag with goodies in it and even my name on the wall! It was a celebrative welcome for sure. ( Nicwe way to celebrate your guests!) Brynn helped us find a few great restaurants along the way to the Arden Theater, and then the next day we spent hours in the Museum of the American Revolution, which is located across the street from the hotel. This place is a perfect location and it is so lovely and welcoming!! We shall return.

I spoke to 3 people at hotel when confirming reservations. I call hotels directly to discuss my husband's mobility issues. NOT ONE of 3 mentioned that hotel has 1) NO bellhop to help with baggage for multiple night stay, 2) NO ramp for wheelchair, walker at front entrance, 3) NO automatic door at front and it's very narrow, 4) how difficult it is to check-in with no help when I have to park the car a block away and the two allowed spaces are taken. After a rocky start checking in with Bryce (perhaps some lessons about less sarcasm when having to clarify instructions. I realize she must repeat this spiel more times than I care to think about, but it was the first for me. To her credit, she later in the evening was much nicer about getting a cab). Location was excellent, which was why I selected his hotel. Rooms very clean, quiet (we faced a brick wall, so I guess so!). Maids very cheery and helpful. Breakfast buffet adequate. Staff each morning was very friendly, esp Nancy. Halls showed a lot of wear but after trying to handle the baggage cart, I could see why. Day time gentleman at desk friendly. If I ever return to area, I would look elsewhere. Elevator tiny and slow.

This small historic hotel in the midst of Bestwestern Independence Park Hotel is beautifully restored and maintained. They have an amazing staff of friendly competent people. Full hot breakfast in nice spot. Location cannot be beat.

Given the very high TA ranking, we expected a bit more from this hotel. Nothing was bad, it was just that it was surprisingly ordinary for the #2 ranked hotel at $300+ a night. The room was clean but small and nothing special. The breakfast buffet was along the lines of a Motel 6 or similar: microwaved bacon, powdered eggs, generic frozen bread products - I could have had exactly the same breakfast for $70/night at a highway motel. The best thing to said for the BW Plus is the location, which is outstanding for access to many of Philly's historic attractions: across the street from the new Museum of the American Revolution, a couple blocks from the Independence Hall complex, 10 minutes walk to the seaport. I gave this hotel a pretty positive rating because they didn't do anything poorly (except the very lame breakfast), it is just that nothing about it is particularly outstanding.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night and enjoyed our stay very much. The location in Old City cannot be beat. The Liberty Bell and Independence Hall are just a short walk away as are loads of restaurants and bars. Our queen room was small, but well appointed and clean. Bed was comfy and we slept very well. The bathroom was spacious and there was plenty of hot water in the shower. The free wifi worked well. There was also a mini-fridge in the room as well as a closet. Breakfast was continental with hot options being eggs and sausage the morning we were there. Plenty on offer to get the day started. Parking was a reasonable $18.00 and in a lot a couple of blocks away. The man who checked us in was very pleasant. We were able to unload in front of the hotel and leave our case in the lobby before making our way to the garage. We plan to visit Philadelphia again for a longer stay and will most definitely stay here again.

Loved my stay at the BW+ Independence Park Hotel! What a fantastic location!! So close to everything! The lobby is beautiful, warm and welcoming with tea and cookies in the afternoon. The hot breakfast is absolutely wonderful--pumpkin spice waffles with the liberty bell and even biscuits and gravy! Yummy! Most of all, the staff is amazing--everyone friendly and extremely helpful.

If you are traveling to Philadelphia to take in all the historic experiences, then this is the hotel for you. Service was excellent, especially in the breakfast area. Quality of some of the breakfast items, especially muffins and pastries was very poor. Rooms were very comfortable.

I would definitely stay on my next trip to Philadelphia & highly recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a very helpful staff, comfortable rooms and central location to all the historical sites of interest

Best Western Plus hotels are always the best and I recommend staying in them any opportunity that you get! They are always in the best spots location wise - we could walk everywhere we wanted to go, historic, and quaint. The staff here go above and beyond to accommodate and were always so friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, showers hot with plenty of water, and I will miss the bed. Everyone should stay here!

The staff was very accommodating. The best thing about it is the location, it was close to all the major historic sites. There were a lot of bars and restaurants nearby, but it was very quiet in the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable.

These people really know how to run a hotel. Service was great. Hot breakfast was very welcome. It is clearly an old building; but so much charm. The new Revolutionary War Museum is directly across the street. I think we visited 11 museums by walking. Lots of restaurants in the area. I think my favorite was Little Lion on the corner.

I usually don't post hotel reviews for US hotels, but my experience there was so bad I had to leave a review. We were in Philly for the weekend for a wedding so we decided to stay in the Old City(close to a lot of historic sites) and chose to stay at Best Western Plus Independence Park. We arrived at the hotel by Uber, the hotel concierge was standing outside, didn't help us with our bags out of the car....but it gets worse. We were about to enter the establishment and he told us to wait outside to ensure that we actually had a reservation there and close the door on us. Never have I felt so unwelcome at a Hotel and I've been to 5 Continents. Anyways, the rooms were okay, a little on the smaller side (but typical for large cities). The breakfast wasn't that great, the only good thing about the Hotel was the location.

We wanted a nice hotel close to the historic sites, and the Best Western Independence Park was perfect. We drove into the city so made use of the garage, which for the price was really pretty reasonable for a downtown hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I loved the look and decor of the lobby area. The room was a little small, but it's as one would expect in a historic property. I actually kind of liked the more cozy feel of it. The bathroom was nice, lots of amenities, and the bed was really comfortable. We both slept very well. I loved that there was warm apple cider available in the lobby for guests, and then later towards evening, cookies were set out. Breakfast is available buffet style, but I found the choices to be pretty good compared to other hotel continental breakfasts. I had eggs, bacon, and toast with coffee and was pleased with all of it. Best of all, the location is perfect! The Museum of the American Revolution is across the street, and both the historic downtown area and the riverfront are less than 10 minute walks away. This will definitely be our go-to hotel option for future trips.

Hotel in heart of downtown Philadelphia. Rooms are spacious and clean, breakfast is included. Parking is 18 a day which is reasonable. Staff is helpful always answering any of your questions. Breakfast staff is wonderful rooms are kept clean. Terrific hotel.

Breakfast was a buffet, but much better than the usual chain hotel. Sausage, eggs, Waffles, pastry, fruit, etc. Fresh baked cookies , tea and warm apple cider upon arrival. The bed was way comfortable, and the bathroom had EXTRA TOWELS!!!!!! The staff were very friendly (where did they find these people in Philly?) Would return in a heartbeat. The price seemed a little high, but I guess that's the going rate in that neighborhood (Liberty Park). And we really did enjoy the neighborhood. Just a block and a half from Independence Park, and maybe 3 blocks from Penn's Landing. Some really excellent restaurants in the area.

My wife and I recently stayed at this boutique hotel while touring downtown Philadelphia. The location is excellent... across from the new Museum of the American Revolution and two/three blocks from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Although an older hotel the rooms are nice and quite depending on the location. The buffet breakfast is very nice (they need a new toaster) and you have your own table and waitress to help you while you enjoy your meal. The staff (especially the front desk) go out of their way to help you with directions, restaurant suggestions and or answer your numerous questions. The location also provides easy walking to many fine restaurants. We certainly would stay here again if we return to the downtown Philadelphia area.

This hotel has many great attributes. It is in Old City Philly, close to many historic sites. The beds are extremely comfortable. The free breakfast offered is complete with a waffle bar. The waffle press has a liberty bell in its center!! During the Wednesday evening wine and cheese social, the events manager speaks with each person as if they are family. This is not only a place to stay the night, it is an experience. I hope you plan to visit soon and enjoy your stay. Overnight parking is also at a reasonable price, for Philly. Only $18.

We arrived at a particularly busy time so had a little trouble parking to unload. Once we found a spot, the staff stepped up and got us checked in and my husband off to park the car. Their efficiency and pleasant demeanor set the tone for the rest of our stay. The hotel is beautiful with decor fitting for the Colonial time period. Our room was on the third floor right near the elevator. It had an interesting footprint of which all the space was used to make the room both comfortable and functional. We had a little desk area, queen-sized bed, dressing area, and bathroom with the closet sort of down a little hall. The bed had soft linens and was very comfortable. Everything was very clean. A minor complaint was the low water pressure, although it was certainly adequate for showering. Breakfast was included and there were plenty of choices including hot oatmeal, eggs, breads, danish, coffee and juice--more than enough to get your day started. The location is spectacular with the new American Revolution Museum right across the street and the Liberty Bell about a quarter mile up the road. There are tons of great restaurants and bars on the same block. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room, location, service, and amenities are all outstanding. We highly recommend!

The hotel is in a great location for visiting the sights. I was concerned with safety at night, but if you stay in well lit areas it is fine. The staff is friendly and efficient. The included breakfast is good and the "tea time " cookies are a big hit and the special wine and cheese on Wednesday evenings is lovely. The furnishings are a bit "tired" but it is an historic property and the charm outweighed the decor. I would stay again...

The Independence park is situated in the old historic district of Philly so is a great location for many of the historic sites. Liberty bell and Independence Hall are about a ten minute walk and the Museum of American Revolution is right opposite. In previous lives it was brewery, factory etc so it has lots of character. There is no parking on site, but it is available a block away in a garage but you can unload right outside the hotel. Staff were very helpful, the room was small but adequate with a lovely bed, and there was a buffet breakfast, what more could you ask for!

This historic hotel in the heart of the old district in Philadelphia did not disappoint us. It is in short walking distance to the museums and the historic walking trail. We ate at several wonderful restaurants that were all located within a couple blocks from the hotel. The room we had was smaller than some of the rooms offered ( it was the only size room available for four nights when we made our reservation) but it proved to be very comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was a step above the usual hotel breakfast and the staff and front desk attendants were always friendly and very helpful. All in all, we are very glad we picked the Independence Park Hotel over some of the big chains offered in the area. It made our trip to Philadelphia even better .

Can you tell by the title of this review that we really enjoyed our two nights at this hotel. The historic building is beautiful; carefully and sympathetically restored and repurposed. Our room was clean and comfortable and, even though we were right next to the elevator (and I mean, if we were any closer, we'd be in the elevator), the room was quiet. The staff was wonderful, from the pleasant gentleman at the reception desk to the fun, friendly and lovely ladies in the breakfast area (they are the BEST . . . give them all a raise). The location couldn't be better, directly across from the excellent Museum of the American Revolution and just a few blocks away from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. We would recommend the Best Western Plus to everyone, and we will definitely be back.

The hotel is in a very old building with a limited number of rooms. The interior decoration / design is very appealing. Because they had to renovate the old building, the room layouts are somewhat odd (e.g., a toilet immediately right next to the bathtub, unexpected room layouts, etc.). They do have a very good free breakfast buffet and tea time in the afternoons; a nice benefit for a hotel that is already not too cost prohibitive. The very best reason for staying there is an incredible staff; they went out of their way to make us comfortable and attend to any minor issues that arose. Thanks - a great stay.

Old charming hotel, downtown on Chestnut St. Beautiful decor. Although we faced the street, quiet. The breakfast was great. Again all the decor is charming. We walked to square to visitors center. Next door to the hotel wonderful Italian restaurant!

No wonder it's number 2 on TripAdvisor. Great location and history too. Don't expect modern features. They're not here but character abounds. The staff are absolutely brilliant! Ask anything and they can help. The included breakfast is a buffet with the menu alternate days. Two waffle makers. Porridge. Yoghurt. Toast then bacon & sausage or biscuits & sausage gravy with scrambled eggs. The rooms are basic but the shower excellent and there's a coffee machine and fridge. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops within the block. Perfect.

I really enjoyed my stay, again( last time was about ten years ago). This is a cozy, historic hotel that is very conveniently located within a short walk from everything in the Old City. Nicely appointed, comfortable rooms, very helpful staff and a convenient continental breakfast as well. It is directly across the street from the Museum of the American Revolution. Bear in mind, the rooms are sized for a historic, city building so if you are looking for larger accommodations, this may not be what you want, but if you want historic charm, look no further. Also, the subway is right around the corner and there's numerous restaurants all around.

Once the site of a brewery and doll manufacturing this historic building is central to all the historic sites we wanted to visit. Bonus it is across the street from the new Revolutionary War Museum. Numerous and delicious restaurants close by. We got a good night's sleep in comfortable beds. Enjoyed the in room fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby is inviting with welcoming furniture, coffee and fresh cookies. The breakfast area was clean and well laid out with a wide variety of choices. We highly recommend staying here!

My intention was a 2 night stay I ended up staying 3. In the middle of the old city and opposite the independence museum. Breakfast was included with afternoon "cookies" with tea and coffee. This is a historic building tastefully restored and presented as a hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable with all you need. I would suggest the staff are probably the main factor for making your stay as pleasurable as it certainly was.

This hotel is a hidden gem in downtown Philly. Has old city charm with classic look complimented with modern amenities. Conveniently located near historical sites and restaurants. As big city hotels go, the self-parking was easy to use, especially for in and out privileges, while being reasonably priced. Drop-off and pick-up zone in front of the hotel worked well. The breakfast setting and food options were outstanding. Great stay!

This is a nice hotel which has been updated and is quite pleasant and comfortable. The room was oddly laid out, but as I said, this is a very old hotel. Everything in the room was modern and there was a nice desk, refrigerator, microwave, Keurig, etc. The staff was very nice, and helpful. I understand they are upgrading the breakfast, and it needs it. The food offered when we were there was cold, the bacon greasy and limp, and choices very limited. The location of the hotel is the reason we booked it and that worked out nicely.

BW Independence is located near all the historical sights with great restaurants nearby. The room is small (historical/European sized) or cozy, but is sufficient. We visited in Sept. and we were surprised at the cost of the room at almost 200. But considering we didn't have to drive around town to see the sites, it was worth it.

Had a great 3 night stay for a business trip. Hotel room had a homey feel. Staff was helpful and friendly. Great location, within short walk of historical attractions, museums and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

This was a great location for us first time visitors to Philadelphia. Easy walking to the sight seeing buses and many of the historical sites - Independence Hall, Betsy Ross home, Liberty Bell, Museum of the American Revolution. Hotel was clean and rooms spacious. Stayed at this hotel on our trip to see Philadelphia. It is an old building that has been transformed into a great hotel. The location is fantastic. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and our room was great. We were on the 5th floor. The parking is offsite, but is very close and easy to do.

Great location and close to everything in historic district. Smaller rooms due to the building being a historic landmark. The breakfast was great-lots of choices including famous waffles with the liberty bell:) Staff was excellent and attentive.

We loved the historical ambience of the hotel! Location was ideal to visit all the historical sights and catch the hop on hop off trolley tour for sights farther away. The staff is very friendly and helpful! Our room was clean and had all basic amenities. Please be ready to appreciate the age of the building as you must overlook the years of preservation repairs. They have done an amazing job of restoration and preserving history. Loved the wood elevator floor and staircases!!

Old rooms need an upgrade, especially the bathroom fan is terribly noisy, as well as the pipes. Breakfast ladies were especially nice. Overall it is a comfortable room and the location is perfect. There is a small market around the corner in Market Street and a few restaurants around.

First, great location! Near historic section and Penn's Landing area. Very convenient if you don't want to deal with driving everywhere. I don't mind paying a little more for this convenience. Room was nice and clean. On the cozy side, think European sized room. Room was clean. Décor was nice. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom on small size, but functional. I didn't have the breakfast but my wife said it was very good. Parking around corner in a garage was $18.00. Great deal in my book! In and out privileges with keycard. Other places I looked at further away were $30+! Plenty of local restaurants in area. Nice ice cream/gelato parlors nearby. I will deduct a tiny mark for one annoying thing. We were in Room 301 which was right next to the elevator. There was a mechanical knocking sound that bothered me a bit while trying to go to sleep. Good thing I was exhausted from sightseeing and passed out quickly. My wife didn't notice it at all. Mentioning it because it could be a factor in one's stay here. BUT if I ever get back to Philly I would definitely stay here again! So stop reading and book it already! Happy Travels!

Excellent staff, made it easy to unload auto and information on garage. Parking is enclosed garage near walking distance. Location is within 1/2 mile of historical city and waterfront. Near market street as well in independence park. Philadelphia is great touring city for those who love living history. Best food are inside the bars. Salads as well as full meals available. Cheaper the further away from the tourist sites.

Our room was on the top floor and was comfortable and large. We looked out onto Chestnut Street and the Museum of the Revolution. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel offers parking (at a price) in a garage that is only two blocks away. They have a spot in front of the hotel where you can stop and bring in your luggage. I would definitely return.

Historic hotel had character and a boutique feel to it (35 rooms?). Staff was uniformly friendly, helpful, and polite. Rooms and common areas were always very clean and well maintained. Our room 507 was quite spacious for 2 people. Breakfast buffet items relatively standard for a Best Western Plus, but very well presented in a much nicer environment versus the typical breakfast setup. The location could not be better to base a vacation trip to historic Philadelphia and the city.

Booked a stay here recently at the last minute and was pleased on all levels. Yes, the hotel is older, but common areas are all nicely updated and rooms are super clean and spacious. The location couldn't be more convenient for walking to various areas of the city (and is right across the street from the excellent Museum of the American Revolution) and the breakfast each morning is delicious and the staff super friendly. Very unexpectedly charming spot -- highly recommend.

This cozy hotel is only a short walk to many of the historical sites in Central City Philadelphia. The rooms were lovely and well-maintained and the service was amazing. The breakfast buffet helped us start our day with energy and April's beaming smile set the tone for a joyful day.

We stayed here with our 2 adult sized teenagers. The hotel is very nice and is actually historical. The rooms are very very small. The breakfast is very very good. They have hot scrambled eggs and many other choices. I would recommend it for a couple but not a family

My husband and I were on a brewery and history tour through the city and this turned out to be the best spot to stay in. Not only is the hotel itself a historical landmark, but it's surrounded by them as well. We were able to walk to dinner at City Tavern and the newly opened American Revolution museum was right across the street! Both of which I highly recommend. The hotel staff was friendly and helped with parking that is available through the hotel at a reasonable rate. Breakfast was lovely and we were able to hit the museum in the morning before check out. We would definitely stay here again!

We were driving to Boston from the Atlanta area and decided at the last moment to detour to Philadelphia. I started looking up hotels and decided to call the Best Western Plus Independence Park Hotel for a room that night. They fortunately had an opening which we reserved. It was easy to find as it is in a perfect location and the parking fee was the cheapest! It was crowded to park to unload but before I could even get to the front desk, an employee greeted me and asked if I was checking in - amazing. She came out and helped us unload our luggage. The room was perfect though the bed seemed a little smaller than our queen bed at home but worked fine. The staff was absolutely wonderful, always helpful, especially Julian at the front desk. The location was so perfect....across the street from the Museum of the American Revolution and just a couple of blocks from all the historic sights - Liberty Bell, Constitution Hall etc. We were simply amazed at the quality service and ability to stay there on such short notice. Also, their soap was amazing! It was Eco Botanics Chamomile and Honey and was so soft and wonderful. The housekeeper even gave me a couple extra soaps to take home! It was a wonderful experience! I would go back anytime. (the included breakfast was also complete and amazing.)

The hotel is right in the middle of old historic Philadelphia, literally right across the street from the recently opened museum of the American Revolution. It opens onto Chestnut Street which is the east-west street which runs right by the back door of Independence Hall, and the Liberty Bell. Imagine the historical figures who have trod this street! The hotel itself is incredibly charming. The building has been there since about 1856 and has been very well maintained. (The floor in our room certainly didn't squeak.) The lobby is inviting and warm with high ceilings and comfy furniture beside a grand old fireplace. ALL of the staff we encountered were incredibly hospitable and happy. We had room 403, which I believe is a standard queen sized bed accommodation. It was not large, but was very comfortable. There was a wing-backed chair next to a floor lamp in addition to a small desk on one side of the bed. On the other side was a small bedside table attached to the wall with a phone and clock. On either side of the bed were attractive bedside lamp sconces. The closet was decent sized, and there was a nice chest of drawers about 36" high on which there was plenty of storage space. The large flat screened TV was mounted on a variably adjustable wall fixture. The high ceilings - probably 10-12' - helped the room feel substantially larger than it really was. There were two folding suitcase stands as well as a small dorm style fridge rounding out the floor space of the room. The queen sized bed was very comfortable too! The bathroom was decent sized with a standard tub/shower and plenty of room for one person at the sink, and around the toilet. The bathroom sink area is where the pod style coffee maker was as well. There was still plenty of room around the sink though. The A/C worked VERY well, as the outside temperatures were in the high 80's during our August 2017 visit. My only issue in the room at all is that when the A/C turned on, the was a rather loud single click. My husband never noticed it. We do sleep with a white noise machine, but as I am a light sleeper it did bother me a little. Most people probably wouldn't even notice it though. However it was not significant enough to even mention to the management. The next morning we discovered the charming breakfast room, which was included in the price of our room. There was a wide variety of offerings, from self serve waffle making (Yum!) to a buffet of fruit, breads, meats, eggs, and drinks. The whole experience was a joy!

Extremely well kept, awesome breakfast & extremely courteous staff. Has newer modern elevator. No bell hops at night - don't know about during daytime. Atmosphere makes you feel like you are in Philadelphia in colonial times.

This hotel has the historical feel with beautiful foyer and staircase. Park is just down the block, but is included. Rooms are nice and quaint. The morning breakfast is good, but the liberty bell waffles were a hit with the kids and myself! The kids were bummed about not having a pool. I was bummed about not having access to a washing machine ( they will dry clean for a fee). I did drop off laundry at Tenth street laundromat and I would highly recommend it! The location of this hotel makes it perfect for walking to historical sites and restaurants.

We stayed here for two nights with our two kids age 9 and 12 as we wanted to see all the historical district attractions by foot. This hotel is a designated historic building yet it has all the amenities we asked for, including two queen beds, seamless access to parking and fitness center nearby. We had a cute surprise waiting for us on our arrival as we were randomly chosen the Guest of the Day - I won't spill the beans for the next lucky guest...The lobby is gorgeous, beautiful classical music plays as muzak, the whole place oozes an air of tradition. Our Hamilton-the-Musical crazy daughter was thrilled to find the Museum of American Revolution smack opposite of our hotel where we well used the two-day (for the price of one day) ticket. The hotel is surprisingly quiet for its location, which was also important to us. We will definitely stay here again when in Philadelphia!

Great location to walk to the Liberty Bell and other historic sites. Friendly staff, fantastic breakfast (eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cold cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, etc.), tea and cookies offered nightly, and a clean room that included a small fridge. Would definitely stay again if in Philly.

We stayed for 2 nights in a twin queen room, the room was a bit dated and needed a refurbish however the main hotel is lovely and the breakfast was good. The waiting staff in the breakfast room were lovely.

This hotel is very good. Although the rooms are very small, they are good for 2-3 people when staying for less than a week. It is walking distance from a lot of historic attractions such as Independence Park, and the Museum of the American Revolution. There is a small restaurant right next to the hotel, that I forget the name of, which had very good pizza. The hotel offers free breakfast. The hotel staff was very nice. I would probably stay here again.

Great value for a central location in the historic district of the city. Would definitely reccomend to anyone traveling to Philadelphia! Warm and friendly staff, walking distance to all of the best of the city.

Came to Philadelphia without specific plans on where to stay. At the Visitor's Center they gave us a map, and we noticed the Best Western was very close to the historic district, so we took a chance on getting a room without prior reservations. We got a very nice room at a very reasonable price; were able to walk to all the nearby historic sites. Loved the breakfast, lots of selection and served with real china and silverware, not paper plates and plastic utensils, very classy!

There's something about historic hotels...the charm, the grandeur, the ambiance. This hotel has all that but on a smaller scale. Tucked into Independance Mall, it was never intended to be oppulant but you will enjoy your stay nonetheless. My room was oddly-shaped but functional, probably a result of many attempts at reconfiguration. Check-in by car means pulling in, getting a "please don't tow me" placard, then moving your car. (I took the train and didn't have to deal.) if steps are an issue, I would do more research. I'm sure it's handicap friendly but I wasn't aware of a ramp. The staff was great with the few questions I had. I look forward to another stay.

My fiance and I stayed for one night during a quick trip to Philly for his birthday. The hotel is very nice and is in a very convenient spot for visiting tourist attractions. The room was nice and they had nice little extras for guests (cookies in the afternoon and fruit available in the lobby). Breakfast was good as well. Would definitely return!

We were only in Philadelphia for two days/one night, but the convenient downtown location of this hotel made it possible for us to see all the touristy and historical sites we had wanted to visit. It is walking distance from Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, as well as many bars and restaurants. The hotel room was comfortable and the staff was friendly.

This little hotel is in the center of everything. Across the street from the new Museum of the American Revolution and a short walk to the major sites in the historic district. Parking is the most reasonable you will find through their special arrangement with a local garage. The room we had was charming and air conditioning worked well. Finally, Craig at the front desk was most pleasant and helpful in every way. He exemplified a staff which made us feel at home in the city where our nation was born!

My daughter and I stayed here and loved it! We had a large room in the front of the hotel overlooking Chestnut Street. Loved the high ceilings and decor. My daughter looked forward to the afternoon tea and cookies. The hotel is right in the middle of historic Philadelphia, within easy walking distance of all the sights. Beautiful dining area where breakfast was served. Parking was off-site but was reasonable priced. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

Perfect location. Clean comfortable rooms. In the national register of historic places. Good alternative to the more expensive hotels in the area. I would recommend to anyone looking for lodging in the Independence Park Complex.

This hotel is in a great location. Across the street from the Museum of the American Revolution and walking distance to Independence Hall. Nice gelato shop a few doors down and a fantastic cheesesteak place a block away. Parking is in a garage around the corner but still convenient. Room is smaller than most but I was aware of that when making my reservation. My son enjoyed making a Liberty Bell waffle at breakfast.

The hotel was clean and nice. Breakfast was really good. Especially the Liberty Be;ll Pancakes. Only one negative. When we got there our name was on the wall as a VIP guest and we were told that we would have a gift basket in our room. Now, we didn't ask for this and it was a surprise. However, once we got to our room our three kids looked all over for a basket. It was nowhere. Since they were driving me nuts I called the front desk. I was met with a , I don't know what happened, I can make up a basket if you want... Well, that was odd. I didn't ask for it in the first place, so I said no. It felt like I was asking for something extra. I guess, if you tell a family with 3 tired and hungry kids they have a gift basket waiting for them, please do so. Or just do nothing, that would be better.

This hotel is a very nice property. It is older but well done. The staff service was excellent. The location is across the street from the new Museum of the American Revolution and close to the Independence Square attractions. The only disadvantage is limited parking for unloading and loading with long term parking about 1.5 blocks away. We had a very nice stay.

This is a very old hotel established sometime in the mid to late 1800's. Parking is not very convenient but it is made as easy as can be given the location. The building is beautiful and very well maintained. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is beyond expectations. 2 types of waffles, 3 different types of eggs, as well as biscuits and sausage gravy that was incredibly good. Located on a very busy street near center city, there is plenty to do within walking distance. I will stay again.

We booked a room through booking.com August 2016 for a room July 2017. Received confirmation. A month ago got an email that they did to have any rooms because the entire hotel was booked for a wedding party and they reassigned our booking to another hotel. Said they sent us emails with we never received. If we had a booking with confirmation I just don't understand. We got rebooked into the penns view hotel. One of the people in our party has mobility issues and since this was several blocks away from where we original booked was not able to get out and see the sights

The hotel has a great location. The new Museum of the American Revolution is right across the street and the Phlash bus also stops there. The museum was great, not to be missed! It's a very short walk to Penn's Landing where the evening we were there had a free concert by the Philadelphia Orchestra followed by fireworks , enjoyed both.

My wife and I try and find hotels that are not stamped out like bottle caps. The best western Independence Park was one of those. We got there early and the desk people really accommodated us in checking in early. The room was both uniquely shaped and really funky ( in a good way). The hotel is right in the center of everything that you would want to see in Philadelphia. The breakfast was great. The most enduring part of the hotel was the staff. To a person they were very accommodating and very helpful. Our sincerest thanks to them for a great stay.

The hotel staff here are knowledgeable and great in accommodating their guests. At night the doors are locked outside for safety and you need your key to access. Parking is about a block or so away which makes it difficult to bring luggage to the hotel. The rooms were clean but it smelled old so you will need an air freshener. Breakfast was a buffet style but a feel of high end hotel. The tables had fresh linen covering, staff was there to greet you and make sure if you needed anything they were there to help.

We stayed Saturday and Sunday July 1st and 2nd 2017 and had a wonderful stay, the staff is so very friendly. My wife , daughter 15 and I made a last minute reservation and couldn't get a two bed room so we brought our air mattress but forgot sheets, the staff set us up with sheets and blankets, location is wonderful and we got see the most spectacular fireworks at the landing that we have ever experienced with just a short walk. Breakfast was perfect and we enjoyed. Unloading and loading of our car went well and the parking situation at the garage was actually quite accommodating. We live just outside Washington DC and the norm for intercity lodging is no choice valet parking for $25 and could take 10 to 15 minutes every time you need to get your car and then you feel obligated to tip.

We found this hotel to be in a great location. The room was clean, breakfast was good, and the parking garage very close and easily accessible. There were a couple of things we would have liked to change, but they were minor (refrigerator in room on carpet was difficult to access and loud bathroom fan noise). Otherwise, the staff were always professional, polite and helpful, and the bed extremely comfortable!

Only stayed one night but would definitely stay here again. Great location and easy to walk to all the sights. The hotel is an historic landmark and we loved the character and the high ceilings in the room (we were on first floor). The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very good. We had a little snafu in that there was a protest going on and we couldn't even get close to the hotel to drop off luggage and had to park a few blocks away. They reimbursed our parking.

We rate this hotel 5 stars for location, 5 stars for service and friendliness, and 4 stars for the room quality. Rooms were small, as expected. They were very clean, but ready for an update. The air conditioning had trouble keeping up on the hot day we were there. Despite this, we recommend this hotel.

Very friendly people. Old hotel with comfortable spiffy furnishings, best of both worlds. Mondo complementary breakfast setup from waffles to variously cooked eggs, the works. The lobby is a fun place to sit, people use it. Have stayed there twice and will again.

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel it was very historic and beautifully kept. The location is right in the middle of town close to all of the sites you will want to see. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Thank you for a wonderful visit.

The place had a light fish odor that remained the whole time. I also had minor issues with my TV and Internet service. Overall, a nice hotel and a nice place to stay. Within walking distance of many things to see. I would recommend it.

This is a great hotel center in the heart of Philadelphia. A great location. Located across the street to the museum of the American Revolution-great museum. Take the tour bus around the city very helpful. Lynn at the front desk is excellent and will help you with all your needs and knows the City.

A great place to stay while seeing a must see place for all Americans. You are in the middle of all the historic places and near great dining. Just park your car and enjoy. The hotel is quiet and comfortable as well as near all you want to see.

I stay here 40+ nights a year. Wonderful location, very friendly and competent staff, very clean and comfortabe rooms at a great price. Breakfast, afternoon tea and occasional wine and cheese included, all first rate.

Well kept property with lots of amenities. Guestroom, common areas clean and well kept. Little things like fruit infused water and coffee available all day in the lobby added to a great overall experience. Hot breakfast was awesome and included in the room cost- making it a great value. Staff were all smiling. You can tell mgmt is hands on and paying attention to the little things. Highly recommended!

For over two and a half years I lived at the hotel for 2 -3 nights a week. I had a long commute for my job as hospice CIO/CEO. During that time I continued to get the same exceptional services I received on my first visit. The staff treated everyone I saw come and go with such genuine care and hospitality that I just naturally felt at home. The hotel is beautiful and elegant. It is in the best possible location of Olde City for great dining and access to the whole of the city. It is great being so close to the historic sites of Philadelphia. The beauty of the city is a great addition to what is available at the hotel. I like to call Philadelphia the city of BRICKS AND TREES. It is vibrant and rich in our nation's history of freedom and liberty. The breakfast is superb and various folks with differing dietary needs can feel at home. And it is served over a good portion of time each morning. Don't miss a chance to stay at the finest boutique hotel in the city. Tell them Father Tom sent you.

From it's lovely exterior, with flower boxes brimming with gorgeous flowers, to the elegant decor inside the front door, to the incredibly friendly and helpful staff, this is one of the most welcoming hotels in which we have ever stayed. In close proximity (right across the street) to the brand-new, wonderful Museum of the American Revolution, our one-night stay at the Best Western Plus helped turned an overnight visit (while attending a wedding in town) into a wonderful weekend getaway!

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights in late May as an early birthday present and we totally enjoyed it. It's within walking distance of everything in the historic district and even some things that aren't As a Rewards member, we were upgraded to a king bedded room on the top floor with a jetted tub. While most of the windows looked out on to the building next door and a roof, we did have a partial view of the Ben Franklin Bridge. The room was a very good size with a couch, a microwave and fridge and a Keurig coffeemaker. Although the hotel is old and historic, most of the interior had been remodeled and updated; the exception was the elevator which rattled a little and the floor seemed to be the original wood. Also, the corridors were narrow and seemed to have old carpet. For us, though it was all part of the charm. The breakfast was adequate; nothing special and the usual continental fare. I want to give special recognition to April in the breakfast area who was always there making sure the coffee was filled and clearing plates and always with a smile. Also, Mel ( I think that's his name) and La'Rene at the front desk were the best parts of the hotel. Both always had smiles and were vey helpful. Oh, no safes in the room, but if you wanted to secure something, you had free access to a safe behind the counter. Finally, the one reason I didn't give this 5 out of 5 is the lack of any noticeable recycling. For me, that's important. Other than that, it was a great stay and I will definitely recommend this place and will stay again here if I return.

Jessica the GM is very immature placing blame in issues on her staff and guest. Take responsibility as a grown up. I guess I should give them my hospital bill for issues with my stay . Shame in absentee owners. Jessica is putting blinders over your eyes. Jessicas management style us what gives Hospitality a bad reputation. I would advise guest to STAY elsewhere UNLESS you like issues with your stay being blamed on you as a guest and staff who did nothing wrong.

This hotel was perfect for my wife and me. Small and inviting, it was a perfect refuge. Every time we passed the lobby desk, we would be greeted by the person on duty. The complimentary breakfast in the morning had the typical fare, but tables were set with tablecloths and actual silverware wrapped in cloth napkins. Pitchers of syrup, sat and pepper shakers and sugar/sweeteners were all on the tables. Self parking in a garage for $17 a day, with in-and-out privileges, was a real bargain compared to other hotels in Old Town. The hotel is two blocks from Independence Hall and an easy walk to most of the historic attractions. Much bus transportation was available on 5th Street, a 5-minute hike from the hotel. If you like to walk, for my wife and me, City Hall and many museums were a 25-minute hike. We loved our stay at the Best Western. The staff was friendly and helpful in so many ways.

We had a wonderful stay for 5 days. I don't want to mention names so as not to leave anyone out, but everyone was great, cheerful and happy to help. The front desk called every night making sure a restaurant could take us and wow what recommendations, all were great. House keeping was wonderful as well as everyone at breakfast. Loved coming back after a day of sightseeing to such a clean room. The area is great close to,everything including American Revolution Museum across the street. Many restaurants and night clubs nearby. City Tavern around the corner. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location, reasonable price and the staff is amazing! The room was very clean, with a nice view of the museum across the street. Lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby and a short walk to the river, as well as the main attractions - liberty bell and Independence Hall. The staff were very helpful and so nice to our 3-1/2 year old son. He had a great time and so did we. We highly recommend the Independence Park Hotel and will definitely stay here again.

Everyone was incredibly helpful at this hotel. The hotel is right in the historic district of Philadelphia. The metro is about a block away. I would highly recommend this hotel. Breakfast was good. Hot eggs/bacon as well as make your own waffle, yogurt, oatmeal, etc. They let us check in early.

I like the old style. Very quiet and big comfortable room. Very good service with 24 hours tea and coffee. Just minutes walk to all museums and attractions. Reasonable price, not cheap but very good service for this price.

This is a lovely historic hotel located in downtown Philadelphia. It is close to all of the major tourist historical sites. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, if a little small, but is a historic building and the rooms reflect this.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel was directly across the street from the new Museum of the American Revolution. The rooms although small were well appointed and comfortable. The parking around the corner was reasonable and includes in and out privileges. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.

Very centrally located hotel close to all the historical sights. Felt like we were back in time but with all the modern amenities. We walked everywhere and never had to use the car. Making dinner reservations in advance per the suggestion of the women who made our hotel reservation was a good tip. Thanks for all the warm service.

We spent 3 nights here after spending a week in NYC. Had never been to Philly, so we wanted to see the historic sights. This was a great hotel to use as a base of operation as it is right in the center of many historic sights including Independence Park. The king room we had was large and comfortable with a large TV, and microwave and minifrig. It was a very quiet hotel and had a beautiful, large breakfast area. They had a hot buffet which was great since they had some breakfast meat each day. Unfortunately for us, bacon was only 1 of our days and sausage with gravy (not a fan) was the other 2 days. However the eggs and oatmeal were good all mornings. The staff was all very attentive and friendly. Nothing significant to criticize. A very enjoyable 3 days. We were given good advice on where nearby to get the best Philly steak sandwiches, and we had one a day. Thanks to all that made our stay enjoyable.

This was an excellent stay and it was perfect location close to everything. Such as Penn's Landing, Century 21 clothing store the 2nd street night life. I will definitely revisit the next time I come to Philadelphia. The staff were excellent, very helpful. And the breakfast was delicious.

Comfortable and distinctive hotel in the historical part of the city. It does not feel like a standard hotel, as the building and the bedrooms have their own character. Very friendly and helpful staff, with excellent facilities (internet, coffee maker in the room) and great breakfast (as well as the bonus of afternoon tea). Nice location too for setting out on an early morning run along the Delaware.

Spent 4 days with my husband. The suites are comfortable, the location is great to walk in both directions towards the historic sites, museums, historic penitenciary, etc.. The american restaurant on their front feeds the purpose when you are tired to go out. It is not on a sophisticated place, but you feel home there. Nice staff. Very nice experience overall.

Friends chose this hotel where we met and stayed for the weekend. We were impressed. It was in a convenient area and near to the Delaware River. we were in walking distance to many sites and restaurants. The decor is business like and very comfortable. The room was large and clean. the staff was helpful. I mention a problem, not to criticize the staff but to compliment them on how they handled it. We checked in and were given our room cards. When we went up to the room, we entered an occupied room. Oops. So, i returned to the desk where a staff member quickly changed the room and was sincerely apologetic. As a further token of their apology, they provided us with coupons for free drinks at the bar. Given the level of the problem, I believe they handled it in an appropriate manner and we were pleased.

Excellent front desk experience. Breakfast is good start to the day. Lobby is big enough and well-appointed. Step out the front door to the history of our country! Many restaurants, lots of them ethnic, in the area. I appreciated having rubberized bathtub mat to prevent falls. Could have used a little more light ih the room; it was far from bright. No bar in the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

Although the room was small, the location can't be beat. It is minutes from most of the historic sights, and right across from the new Museum of the American Revolution. Breakfast is included, which is a real plus, and the hotel is close to many good restaurants. The staff was incredibly attentive. Parking was around the corner. We really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is a small hotel in the historic part of the city. Pros - great location, close to lots of history and Penns Landing, friendly and helpful staff, plenty of choices for breakfast which comes free, quiet and peaceful, discount rate to park your car in this garage about 2 blocks away. Cons - Only 2 or 3 cars can park out front for unloading, if you come at the wrong time, you will have to circle till one car leaves or you find parking somewhere else to unload. There are steps into the hotel which made it really tough to get a wheel chair in. We must have had the tiniest room in the hotel with the furniture taking up most of the room. The desk was right next to the bed with the sharp corner of the desk just inches from my head as I slept....made me anxious that I could poke an eye out. The TV was on the side of the bed and hard to watch from bed. There was only one chair in the room other than the desk chair. The room was dark with dark carpet, dark furniture, black out drapes and the window looked out to a brick wall. Even with all the lights on, it seemed dark. If you like non alcoholic drinks, bring your own. The hotel had a very limited supply...no coke or pepsi and the corner store charges a lot because of the city tax on these drinks. So too, it would have been helpful to have a grab bar as you step into the tub to shower...for safety reasons. Others rated this hotel much higher, maybe they had better rooms....this is what we were given.

Amazing hotel and staff! All employees that I met were great. I work at a best western in Baltimore and traveled to Philadelphia for a little getaway and this hotel rocked! Julian from front desk Angie from housekeeping Libby the breakfast attendant and joe in maintenance all went out of their way to make my experience wonderful. The hotel is located right in the heart of historic Philadelphia everything was in walking distance. I enjoyed my stay I hated to have to come back home. I will definitely be returning! This was a hotel of choice for my nephews wedding. His wedding was held at the Ballroom at the Ben, which was on 9th an easy walk and pleasant one, I stayed 2 nights in this charming historic hotel, it's quaint, furnishings pleasant and fitting to the time period of its history. Clean and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Though I didn't get to take advantage of the breakfast offered it looked pretty amazing. Good coffee!

We struggled to choose a hotel in downtown Philly as were weren't sure what we wanted or needed. We are from rural upstate NY and very out of our element in cities. We were so very pleased with our choice! It was easy to find, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and answer our questions, a good complimentary breakfast. We were able to get a parking package that was very reasonable and provided parking a 5 minute walk from the hotel with in and our privileges. The rooms were clean and as roomy as you can expect from rooms in a downtown historic building. It was a short and easy walk to the Independence Park area as well as many, many restaurants. I wish that we'd had more time to explore the city and all the nearby attractions. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough!

The surrounding area is very lively, with a range of restaurants, bars, and ice-cream parlours. Something for everyone! The hotel is very comfortable, and the staff knowledgeable and helpful. It is nice to have coffee and tea available (free) in the lobby/lounge. Breakfast was good, the hot dish changes every day and then can supply dairy/ gluten free milk, bread etc. Can't think of anything negative to say, thank you!

Great location and beautiful hotel. We were a short walk (about 2-3 blocks) away from the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, museums, restaurants, etc. Charming and historic, but with modern amenities makes this the perfect place for a visit to Philly. The price was reasonable and fair. Parking was affordable for city parking. The afternoon tea and complimentary breakfast made this the perfect choice for our stay and we would stay here again if in the area. The staff were friendly and accomodating. the interior was beautifully and tastefully decorated. The rooms were on the smaller side, but that would be expected in this historic building. However, we did not feel cramped or uncomfortable at any time. The property was extremely clean and the dining area was very upscale compared to other hotels at this level.

Hotel was beautifully quaint and in a historic section of Philadelphia. Great Pizza shop next door, great sandwich shops in the area, also not too far from the Sugarhouse Casino. About a $15 dollar cab ride from the 30th Street train station, public transportation in the area.

Loved the architecture, the beautiful staircase....We were here on wine and cheese night and it was lovely. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent tho you get powdered eggs instead of real. Overall we'd come again.

The Best Western Plus Independence Park Hotel is located in a prime location in Old City Philadelphia. Everything associated with the role Philadelphia played in the founding of the United States, is located with-in walking distance; Independence Hall, Carpenters Hall, Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin's grave, Betsy Ross's house. The rooms are a bit small, and the TV service isn't HD. But, there are better things to do than lie in bed all day in Philadelphia. Also, next door is a great little gelato shop.

The room was average but had all the expected/ necessary amenities. The location was superb. Across the street from 1 museum, 1-2 blocks from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell museum. The staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for meals and making reservations. I would definitely stay here again.

Every time we've stayed at this hotel, it's been very clean and the staff is very helpful. Everyone is friendly and they make acommodations if requested. Definitely recommend this hotel if staying in the historical Philadelphia area. Great walking distance to many major attractions.

Loved the location of this hotel. Everything is pretty much walking distance. It is such a warm and friendly environment. The staff is very cheerful and welcoming. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy! Loved the Street View of my room. My daughter and I had a great time taking in all the sites. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again!

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Everyone was very friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and spacious. The reason I could only give three stars is because the mattresses were absolutely terrible. I sleep in hotels about 30 nights a year, mostly Hilton properties which have an emphasis on good beds. A good night sleep is super important and why a hotel would not replace their mattresses is a mystery to me. I had a similar experience at a best Western in Salzburg Austria. The location of the hotel is wonderful and the price was a good value

Over a year before our Thanksgiving-week trip to Philadelphia I had done my research and determined this would be the best choice for my family; I made our reservations fifty weeks in advance (literally the day the window opened for the week we were to go). Somehow our reservation got messed up in Best Western's computer system and no one seemed to care. Except for me, that is. By the time I realized what had happened it was too late to find someplace else to stay, so I decided to put on my game face so as to not negatively influence our children. But I was ticked by the (lack of helpful) reaction from staff / management when I reached out to them to help figure this out and rectify it. We have a medically fragile child in a wheelchair, and I had requested a quiet room for him. The room we had (ending in -01) was right next to the elevator, which was super handy for the wheelchair and luggage, but that means we also got to hear the people waiting for the elevator. Six of one, half a dozen of the other, right. The rooms ending -02 and -03 also get to hear elevator traffic. Only the rooms -01 and -02 face the street, and even though we were high up and the windows are double glazed it was painfully noisy. I believe rooms ending -03 though -07 all face an interior courtyard, so while not a pretty, interesting view they are most likely quieter. They are building the Museum of the American Revolution literally across the street, which will be a fantastic boon but in the meanwhile as they started construction before 8am it was also not welcome. FYI the Customs House is just to the east, and it is a beautiful, tall building and beacon as you are walking toward the hotel. Additionally, evidently every single year the week of Thanksgiving this hotel plays host to a large group of fourth graders, who, as a large group of children naturally will (and should) be, VERY LOUD. VERY VERY LOUD. The kids did nothing wrong -- little children (and big, too) when in such a large mass will be loud. However, the hotel should make a point of letting the guests know beforehand and at the least during check-in: "just so you know, this Tuesday - Wednesday we'll have thirty nine year-olds here and they can be really noisy." Then lower the cost of our rooms for that night, because we already paid a premium for a holiday week! But neither of those were done .... But that would be the right thing to do, yes? We found the ladies who work there to be as lovely as could be, especially the ladies in the breakfast room and the cleaning ladies. For our medically fragile child we travel with a lot of medical equipment, and the cleaning ladies were so careful about it, and so sweet to our little boy. Loved them! One of the front desk ladies, Lynn, was also an absolute charmer. The men we encountered were neither friendly nor helpful, and actually more than once my husband and I felt as if they deliberately gave us misinformation. Weird. Breakfast: that is partly what makes this hotel an absolute steal (besides the fantastic location, character, and lobby amenities): it is a full breakfast, with Liberty Bell waffles (the texture was very eggy and light, more like a Dutch Baby), scrambled eggs, bacon + sausage on one day, and biscuits and sausage gravy on alternating days. Yogurt, cheese, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, coffees, teas, cocoa, juices rounds it out -- lots of food! And seriously, the ladies working in there could not have been sweeter, friendlier -- lovely faces to start the day. In the lobby there is always coffee, hot water, tea bags, etc., and hot apple cider which smells like heaven! In the afternoons they also lay out cookies, which is a nice little pick-me-up. Wednesday afternoon there were some wines (I don't drink so didn't pay attention), and trays abundantly filled with cheeses, crackers, strawberries and grapes. What a wonderful treat! The rooms are a good size (we had a room with two queen beds), especially considering the age of the building), and the bathroom had a huge counter (which is great for a family of four to have plenty of room to put their stuff). The hot water was instant and plentiful. The mattresses were very, very soft (we are a firm mattress family so really felt it). Another perk is a good-size mini-fridge (empty) and a microwave, so if you have leftovers (as we always did) we could bring them back and know they were safely cooled. You cannot beat the location (three blocks from Independence Park, on the same street as Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell), and there were lots of darling cafes / restaus either next door or up 3rd or 2nd Streets, including lots of vegetarian / vegan options. We appreciated that! Buses are frequent and plentiful down Chestnut (the street on which the hotel is located) and Market (a block north), plus the metro runs on Market with an Accessible stop at 2nd (there are elevators to take down). We either walked or used public transportation to get everywhere we wanted; granted, we love walking (and averaged about five miles each day), but we also totally took advantage of the bus and metro. We popped up to Chinatown and also over toward Frankford (for rock climbing). Anyway, I would recommend with the above caveats. I know that because of the breakfast and free wifi we came out ahead cost-wise. I also know that the ladies I mentioned were just lovely and they made for a cosy, friendly experience. But it's only fair to say that when I repeatedly asked for help from management before our visit it was neither available nor forthcoming. And it's fair to say that the hotel did not inform any of us of the upcoming noisy change.

A very good choice for Old Town Philadelphia. The Independence Park Hotel is in a great location just across the street from the new Museum of The American Revolution. It is walking distance to everything in Old Town. The hotel itself is in a historic building and is very charming. The lobby interior consists of a comfortable sitting area with a gas fireplace and all-day coffee, tea and hot apple cider. A staircase in the lobby takes you downstairs to the breakfast area which is under a large glass ceiling which makes the breakfast area bright and cheerful. Making your own Liberty Bell waffles is a fun part of breakfast which is included in your hotel stay. My wife and I had fun making our waffles each morning and if you have children they will probably have fun too. The staff were very helpful and polite. My wife and I would definitely stay here again when sightseeing in Old Town.

This is, and has been, for the many times I've visited, hands down one of the hidden gems in Phili. Starting with Adam Munro, manager, all the way around the hotel, the staff are wonderful, supportive, pleasant and kind. Love the warm cider set up in the lobby and the cocktail wine and cheese parties. The Complimentary breakfast is great in that it's varied enough for certain allergies -- gluten, lactose, etc. The location is central to lots of great stuff to do. And it's right around the corner from the City Tavern -- for which the hotel has bYOB entree coupons! Can't go wrong here!

We came to Philadelphia for a wedding, and from the very beginning, before we got there, we were emailed a parking "permit, " welcomed when we arrived, our room was ready, so we were able to drop bags, and everyone on staff was warm and friendly. Breakfast (complimentary) was delicious, warm cider in the lobby refreshing, and checkout was quick. I want to go back to this charming historic building, and stay again.

As a suburbanite, we had "reservations" about staying at an inner city hotel with no parking. The accommodations and staff were terrific. They had provisions for checking in and out, the garage they use is not far, and the parking rate was reasonable. Location is super; once there, you do not need your car. Building is old but totally updated without losing the historic charm. Rooms were large and AC worked well. Love the high ceilings. Staff was very friendly and helpful top to bottom.

We loved our stay in the Best Western! Our room was cozy and well laid out with a wonderfully comfortable bed. The hotel is centrally located amid the many historic attractions of Old Town. The rest of the city is within easy walking distance. There are excellent restaurants of every type within blocks of the hotel. Every staff member that we met was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful with a wide range of choices. The warm cookies offered daily were a delightful and welcome touch. I would highly recommend this hotel!

The location was great for walking to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. We could walk to get food and some shopping. The hotel clerks were great. They were helpful with information, always polite and courteous. The parking in front of the hotel was a challenge but I would stay there again. Nice atmosphere and the free breakfast was very good.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great location, close to everything and in a great historic district of the city. They had a great range of foods for breakfast and everything was fresh and hot. The room was kind of small and the bed definitely wasn't a queen but for the little time spent in the room, it didn't really matter. Definitely would stay here again!

The staff members were amazing. At one point, I asked the front desk manager for directions to a local restaurant. She reminded me that is was 7:00 Friday night and it was Veterans day. She then called the restaurant and asked them to hold a table as a favor to her. When we arrived, the place was packed. When I told the reservations manager that we were the family from Best Western, they immediately sat us at the only open table. The staff was also very helpful in holding our bags before check in and arranging a cab. The whole experience at the Best Western was just perfect.

Flew in on Thursday and checked out Sunday. This hotel is right in the heart of all the great historical sights to see. We were able to walk to almost everything. The staff was extremely friendly and they provided us with great restaurant options The breakfast was alright but did have lots of options. I would recommend this as a great place to stay in the heart of ole town

The hotel itself was absolutely beautiful and Lynn at the front desk was more than anyone could ask for. She went out of her way to help with restaurant reservations. That being said I found a huge bug (silverfish) in the tub when I woke up in the morning, which left me hesitant for the next few nights.

Was a little nervous about staying at a best western ( usually stay at upscale properties) well was I surprised!!!! This fairly upscale hotel was in a great location to walk to restaurants, shops and bars. Bed was really comfy - hotel nicely appointed with a decidedly "inn" type feel. Employees were exceptionally nice and my husband and I were greeted with a smile by everyone we came in contact with!Room was a bit small but with the high ceilings we did not feel crammed in ( although it was over night... may have been a bit different if it was a longer stay) Had a bit of trouble with shower- water went all over floor no matter how conscientious we tried to be with curtain.

Great, great, great location just steps away from historical landmarks in a boheme part of town. Well preserved property with nice and classy rooms, although I would of have preferred a room with street view. Service is great, people at front desk are involved and show you that they care about you and your needs. Excellent!

I'm actually an event manager, and had a 360-person meeting at this property. It was a very complicated program, with a lot of changes and movements and logistics. This property absolutely NAILED it. They were accommodating, understanding, and hard working. They were flexible, and did an amazing job from planning to execution and beyond. I would recommend this property for any meeting planners and tourists/visitors alike... it is spectacular.

This hotel is in a great location. You are able to walk just about anywhere you'd want to go. The rooms are nice with a colonial feel. Beds are comfy and breakfast was great. The rooms were actually pretty quiet which surprised us for such an old building. We've stayed in other "historic" buildings where you have heard everything in every room around you. We had no trouble getting into the loading zone in front of the hotel. But, they hand you a plastic card on a lanyard for parking (just a block away - very common for city hotels). Having to return the card caused some sequencing issues when it came time to check out. We wanted to just roll our luggage to our car and leave without the hassle of having to get to that loading zone again, but we had to come back to drop off the card anyway. It wasn't horrible, just inconvenient. Most places give you a paper card that you don't have to return when you exit the garage. However, it was nice to be able to have our luggage locked up at the hotel after we checked out so we could head to our tour rather than having to roll our luggage to our car to leave it. You can stay in the garage until 1:30 after check-out. You can leave your car longer, but you're on the clock after that. If I were to return to Philadelphia, I'd definitely stay here again.

The hotel was built in 1856, and was very charming, clean, and comfortable. The building is narrow, but our double-queen room was spacious and the beds were heavenly-comfortable! Great room, and there was an elevator and continental breakfast every morning, which also added to the plusses! Also, a knowledgeable and friendly staff, that were always pleasant and helpful, especially when asking where to eat. Location is excellent! Not living in the city, we are not used to walking all over to get to places, but we were just fine walking to all the historic neighborhood sites - Betsy Ross house, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and so many others that are right there. On every block is your pick of eateries and ice cream shops, and anything else you could want or need is a short walk away. You are also very close to the water, which we never got around to walking down by....Also, they lock the doors at night, which gave me peace of mind, so you have to use your room key to get back in. So you get all that for a very reasonable price. The disappointment came in the parking situation. When you arrive, there are two parking spaces in front of the hotel, and you have to be in the rectangle exactly, or else you can be ticketed 6 different ways, according to the staff. And the streets are nearly always full, so parallel parking into this little rectangle is no treat. Then you have to lift your luggage up the couple of steps one by one, to load onto the one little cart they have. You end up parking 3 blocks away in a parking garage, which opens up into complete darkness at night, on a side street. I didn't feel uncomfortable being in the neighborhood of my hotel, but I did feel uneasy whenever we went to and from the car after dark b/c it was such a dark, quiet area that you enter it from.....There are no shuttles and also no laundry service or facilities. My bf hated that there was no valet or anyone to help us with all the luggage, after a long roadtrip there, and after walking all over the city for 3 days. So it's something to consider. Overall, I was pleased with the hotel itself and the people that worked there, but I'd pay extra to not have to deal with the parking and luggage.

This small hotel is right in the heart of the historic district. It's architecture and decor blend well with the area. You can easily walk to almost all the major tourist sights and there are numerous restaurants of all types nearby. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. The hotel was a haven of quiet and calm during our three days of sightseeing in Philadelphia.

Great location- staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is worth the stay itself- Natalia and crew do a lovely job for the breakfast. No complaints at all. We walked to most of the tourist stops and it is no problem at all from the hotel. Rooms clean and well ordered

First, this hotel is right in the middle of the action. There is little of the Old City you cannot reach via a short walk from this hotel. We were within blocks of the National Constitution Center, Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell, the 1st & 2nd Banks, the Benjamin Franklin Museum & Post Office, Christ Church, etc. There are also many restaurants & bars in the immediate vicinity as well (including an amazing Pizzeria and Gellato next door). Parking is in a structure only a block or two away at $17/night. Additionally, you receive a 30 minute loading zone parking pass via email from the hotel for loading/unloading on arrival so you don't have to haul luggage on cobblestone streets. The staff here is great and professional. The rooms are small, but very comfortable. Ours overlooked the courtyard so it was very quiet. The only cons are the elevator is a little slow and the breakfast is nothing special, but for the price you cannot beat this hotel for a stay in Philadelphia.

A great location and great value. The rooms have high ceilings and appear old but you can tell they have been updated. Everything was clean and nice. Breakfast is a general breakfast. Parking is a few blocks away and is expected for city parking.

Great location and friendly staff. Rooms were a bit dates, but clean and acceptable. My first floor room overlooked the center of hotel and it was difficult to block out the constant lights at night. Good think I travel with a sleep mask. Front desk staff were all extremely kind & genuine..

The hotel is in a great position for the historic sites and only a few blocks from the transport system. The hotel was clean, the staff were very helpful and pleasant and the breakfast offered a variety of food for the start of the day. The room was a good size which was clean and maintained every day to a high standard.

The staff and setting of this hotel, make it as wonderful as I recall. This visit greeted us with warm apple cider in addition to tea and cookies, which were a wonderful contrast to the damp stormy weather outside. I had forgotten the beauty of the vaulted ceilings...this is definitely a gem of olde city!

Could not have found a better located hotel for our visit to colonial Philadelphia!! Parking garage also provided just what we needed though we did not move the car until leaving. Very low rate! Breakfast was wonderful and provided a great variety of both hot and cold choices. Room was comfortable and QUIET! Just a great hotel to enjoy old Philadelphia with all the historically significant buildings and monuments.

I would stay at no other hotel when in Philadelphia. I am 61 years old and have stayed in hotels all over the world and, without question, I have never seen such a friendly and helpful staff. Room was extremely clean, cleaning staff always checked to make sure everything was OK and the front desk even gave us a "to go" bag for a light breakfast snack because we departed so early. Breakfast was a nice start to the day and they have cookies, cider, and wine and cheese socials during the day. Located in historic Philadelphia and close to all major historic attractions.

This was the second time I stayed at the Best Western Independence Park Hotel and I was very pleased. The room is very nice and very clean, especially for such a historic building. The continental breakfast in the morning is top notch! Overall I had a really good stay and I would recommend them highly...especially because they are located so close to many historic landmarks in Philly.

We stayed here during our first trip to Philadelphia. The hotel is small, which I like a lot. The staff is over the top in their attention to guests. The breakfast was wonderful each morning we were there. I had liberty bell waffles each day along with their other breakfast offerings. They even had freshly baked warm cookies at the front desk when you came in for a day of touring. Lovely hotel and even lovelier employees.

We chose the hotel because of its proximity to old town. Were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room and especially the bathroom. The staff could not have been more helpful and the breakfast staff do an outstanding job. We liked being able to walk to all the sites and eat locally without having to cab anywhere. The cookies and tea in the afternoons were a refreshing break and on Wednesday evening there was wine and cheese - unexpected but appreciated! Our bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. We will definitely book again.

This hotel is perfectly located close to all the best sites, and the rooms are lovely. The breakfast is standard for Best Western, but it is served in an especially nice dining room and the attendants keep it stocked. Liberty Bell waffles are a nice touch!

Stayed with family (husband & 2 kids) for a family wedding. Chose this hotel primarily due to location so kids could experience Independence park etc. Staff was very friendly, but limited - no porter to help with bags or call cab, etc. Also room (2 Q beds) had definite size limitations. Bathroom also very small. Daily breakfast was a bit limited but fine. (dining space also very small for guests). Not sure I would stay again.

The hotel sits in a central place. We've got our room only on 15:00 after a long way - they told us they where fully booked day day before but even so I think the could make an effort and arrange the room cleaning faster (although the max check in time as said in advance is 15:00. But....) Room was gust fine. Bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was good. at the evening there was a cease and wine evening. The parking is quit in a distance and coat a 17$/day. all in all the room price was high and inclosed parking and tax in quit expensive.

If I ever return to Philly, I'll stay here. It is located smack-dab in the middle of Old City and most of the historical sites you'll want to visit. Also close to some excellent restaurants. My two friends and I walked everyway--except using the Phlash bus to get to the Art Museum. Great Neapolitan pizza, wine, beer and gelato right next door. This is a fine facility.

In Philly to attend a wedding. The hotel was in the historical section very convenient to where the reception was. Parking was reasonable at $17. Rooms clean but small, staff was extremely helpful and nice.

This hotel - although a little dated in its decor - is comfortable and close to many sites of historical significance. The receptionist is a gem - so pleasant and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is of a reasonable standard. Our room was comfortable but dated and a little gloomy but for a three day stop over on our tour this establishment is ok.

The location is great for seeing all of the sites in the historic area of Philadelphia, and most are within walking distance of the hotel. Our room was extremely clean, and the beds are of superior quality. The staff was friendly and very helpful, and the included breakfast was excellent with many choices.

Awesome boutique hotel in a fabulous location for sight seeing. Located in the old quarter all sights are easily accessible by foot saving heaps of time. Parking is close by and the loading bay directly outside the entrance makes booking in and out easy. The waffles are a delight.

This property is the nations first historic boutique hotel. It is in a building that was used as a brewery during colonial times. It is now a beautifully kept historic building with all the modern amenities that one would expect of todays hotels. Check in was a breeze. But with historical restrictions, parking is not on site. You may park in front of the hotel for 30 minutes to unload baggage. Then you move your car to a garage located two or three blocks away. However, the hotel location is so convenient to many tourist sites, that you don't need the car often. Its only a two block walk to Independence Hall for example. And using the hotels recommendations we had an excellent meal every night within walking distance. As one might expect, colonial rooms were smaller, so the room is small and so is the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and the towels and linins were of good size and quality. Finally, when is the last time you were served breakfast with linin table cloths, metal utensils and ceramic coffee mugs at a hotel breakfast? Overall, this is an excellent facility and excellent staff particularly the front desk and breakfast room staffs. If you are in Philly visiting the early American tourist sites, be sure to book a stay here. It definitely adds to the colonial experience.

We stayed at this hotel for the first time last weekend and into this early this week and it was truly an awesome experience! The room was large and comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful, informative and pleasant. The hot breakfast was well above average and always well-replenished. This will be our address for any future visits to the City of Brotherly Love.

My husband and I stayed for two nights at the Best Western and were very pleased. The location in the Old City is near all the tourist attractions. The staff was very friendly and responsive to the requests/questions we had. The rooms are a little small, but have a fridge and microwave. Definitely a good place to stay in Phillie!

The staff was extremely pleasant & helpful. The continental breakfast had good variety and offered options for health allergies. The room was very nice and clean. Parking was right down the block. Having to stop at the hotel to get a parking pass and return it was a little cumbersome & difficult depending on parking & traffic. Easy access to the Old City tourist destinations. Overall a wonderful trip.

After staying at this hotel, I regreted only being able to stay one night. Everything was so great I wish I could have stayed longer. I had a great check in process and lovely night's sleep in a very nice hotel room. Woke up to enjoy an astonishing complimentary breakfast with a very enjoyable staff. They get to know you very well and make you feel like family. I enjoyed the company from the breakfast staff as I was staying there alone it was nice to have someone to talk to instead of feeling like I was eating by myself. I was even told to try Jim's steaks on the Famous South Street for a traditional South Philadelphia cheese steak from Arial before I left for my meeting. The front desk was very helpful with directions for getting around the city. They even had fresh baked cookies on my way out and who doesn't love cookies. Thank you for a wonderful stay I will be rebooking this hotel for a vacation with my family. I sent my wife a picture of the one of a kind Liberty Bell Best Western waffles and she is excited to try them in the near future.

The hotel is the best location for visiting Olde City Philadelphia and it is located in an older renovated building... The historical features (curved stairway into lobby and the facade) add character and charm.The included hot breakfast served in a bright atrium was more than substantial and the staff was very welcoming and personable.

Great historic building. Our room was immaculate. The breakfast is good. The location is great! It is within a few blocks of all the historic sites in the city. On Wednesday night, they have wine and cheese - which is very nice. Elizabeth, the sales manager, is hostess and is very nice. Lynn, in the front office, is great. She knows pretty much everything and could not be more professional. I highly recommend this hotel.

Everything about our one-night stay at the Independence Park Hotel was wonderful. From check-in to check-out and everything in between, the staff and the facilities were nothing short of perfect. We had a huge, quiet room on the top floor (elevator was quick and quiet), overlooking the street. It was beautifully furnished, and the only negative thing was the fan in the bathroom, that made a lot of noise. They had TV channels galore, and very strong wifi. The cookies and tea in the afternoon and the special Wednesday-only evening reception with wine and cheese and fruit was great. The hotel is very convenient to the metro and to bus lines, and lies literally in the historic area. Lynn, one of the managers, somehow worked magic to get us in to Amata's restaurant, just a few doors down the street for a great tapas evening. We will definitely be returning, if only for their wonderful breakfast!

Loved our stay at the Best Western Independence Park. I think they said the building was built in the 1850's and used to be a doll factory. Very historic and elegant building to spend the night in. Parking was a pain because there is only limited spots in front of the hotel and you need to check in quickly and then move your car around the block to a parking garage. There is construction going on next door to the hotel so quite a lot of noise going on in the morning to wake everyone up. Room was nice and looked clean but the bathroom was a bit dated. Staff at front desk were extremely helpful and friendly. Location was incredible...close to so much! Free breakfast was delicious! There is a waffle machine that makes great waffles! Whipped cream to put on top too! When you check in they have lemon water and coffee available and they even handed out cookies. Great hotel with a great location.

If not for a very special breakfast employee at the Best Western Independent Park hotel, I would have never had the chance to enjoy the most DELICIOUSLY AMAZING canolli in my life! I used to live in South Philadelphia over 40 years ago and the young lady working encouraged me to try a few local places. The staff was beyond excellent; very engaging and made be feel very confortable while I ate my meal. Thank you for the experience.

I travel to PA regularly for business but had not visited downtown Philly. Was a bit sceptic about staying at a Best Western but this one was great. Fabulous location for seeing all the cultural sights - Court house,Liberty Bell,Station (good food options) and the Art museums. All within walking distance. Reception were very welcoming. Room was okay, a bit noisy at night but nothing that was a major problem. Breakfast was a good buffet selection. For the price & location this hotel was a good option.

This hotel is in a perfect location for visiting downtown Philadelphia and Independence Park. The staff is nice and they have a decent breakfast. We enjoyed making chocolate waffles with the liberty bell on them as a treat for breakfast. My husband was able to walk to the visitor center in the morning to get tickets for Independence Hall. We drove and it was a challenge loading/unloading the car. There is only a small parking spot out front to use. If multiple people are checking in at the same time it is difficult. The parking is expensive (like any big city) but they do have a designated garage a few blocks away. Just don't forget anything in the car! Overall this is a great little spot to stay in Philadelphia.

Great hotel in a top location close to all major historical sights. The parking was a bit complicated as you had to pick up a pass and then drive to a car park one block away but it was good value. Room was a good size and very clean. We stayed on a Wednesday and there was free cheese and wine in the evening which was really nice. The breakfast had good variety and was free. Would recommend this hotel.

Good location but parking is awful. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is only minutes from independence hall etc. There was construction across from our room so we heard noises early and late. If we had a room farther away from the construction it would have helped a lot.

We stayed here for the Jimmy Buffet concert in Camden, NJ. Julian immediately welcomed us and made us feel at home. He answered all of our questions and went above and beyond to help us. The hotel is charming and very clean. We took the river fairy to the concert which was a great way to go. Everyone who worked at this hotel was great! Would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for 1 night at the end of our USA road trip. The hotel is old but very well kept with furnishings that are right for the building. We had a nice room on the second floor but it overlooked the construction across the road so was a little noisy but not enough to spoil the stay. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and we were fortunate enough to be there for the cheese and wine reception. There are lots of bars and restaurants and it was lovely being right in the centre of the old town. Very close to the liberty bell, independence hall and penns landing. No parking onsite which was a slight pain but the car park was only around the corner. I recommend this hotel.

Well situated, within walking distance to major sites, good value and great staff. Our stay started out well when we received an email the day before from the hotel with a loading area pass and instructions on its use. Car parking was available in a lot a couple of blocks away with in and out privileges. This was the first indication of the hotel's desire that their clients have a good experience. And the staff made sure that the good experiences continued. The hotel itself was very well maintained with a nice sized room, very comfortable bed and pillows and quiet/effective AC (in cooler weather you could open the windows). We had a room on Chestnut Street so some construction noise from across the street but the hotel tried to lessen the noise by keeping curtains closed and even providing a white noise generator to help mask the sounds. The room rate included a hot breakfast and afternoon tea with cookies, a nice touch. Location wise the hotel is perfectly situated with only a short walk to the Liberty Bell and the Penn Pier on the river. The staff was very friendly, efficient, helpful and offered to suggest restaurants and make reservations, which was useful given the large number of interesting restaurants in the area. Great location, accommodation and staff! We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Excellent hotel within easy walking distance to all the historic sites. The room was small but nice. The only problem I had...with a bad back, the mattress was too soft. Not sure if a hard mattress is an option.

Almost everything was perfect - the location, in the heart of Old City, right next to restaurants, bars, even a deli, and most importantly - the Independence Hall. Perfect spot to start your visit. The staff was very helpful, polite and can't single out any exceptional employee because everybody was exceptional :) The breakfasts were very good. The only thing I would like to point out is that there is no in-room safe if that's important to you. When I booked it the description said I would have it but nope, it's not there. Very minor inconvenience though, especially since they have a safe downstairs.

We were looking for a place close the historical attractions associated with Independence mall. This hotel is quite charming with relatively few rooms, but with all of them thankfully not of the cookie cutter variety one always gets at chain hotels. Our room was 504. It is not overly large, but it has all of the necessities including a writing table, a sitting area and a small refrigerator. The hotel is quiet and comfortable ... the bed was fantastic. Wifi is fast and easy to use. The complimentary breakfast is both varied and quite good. The "famous" waffles are as good as advertised! The best part, though, is the staff. They are very friendly and knowledgable and will spend time talking with you - you actually get to know them. This was a fantastic place to have as a respite from the long days of sight seeing and eating. The lack of a bar is not noticeable ... if that is what you need to relax before bed, there are numerous pubs and bars close by. I will stay here anytime I venture back to this wonderful city.

We had an excellent 3 night stay at this old hotel right in the center of Old City. Our room was spacious for a boutique hotel and well appointed. There was construction going on across the street from the hotel, but since we were gone most of the day, that did not bother us, and the hotel provided a white noise machine to drown out the noise. Lynn who functioned as a front desk reception person and a concierge was just outstanding. She was the most helpful staff person I have encountered in my many travels. The breakfast was very good. A nice variety and the waffles were outstanding. If you are interested in our nations history this is a great location convenient to all the major historical sites.

Stayed here because of the wonderful reviews from Trip Advisor. It is a wonderful, comfortable and very convenient to all the historic sites! The staff was fabulous! Everyone was so friendly, knowledgeable and went out of their way to meet all your needs! We arrived 20 minutes after the complementary afternoon tea and cookies. When I asked the evening check in lady about it, she brought out a selection of cookies! They also have a near by parking garage for the car . My kind of hotel!

Way better than the normal Best Western cookie cutter hotel. This hotel, on the Historical Register, has great staff, comfortable rooms, and an overall pleasant atmosphere. It is fairly priced, clean and providesa substantial breakfast. Parking is provided for a discounted price at a nearbt garage. The location is excellent and is within walking distance to the Independence National Park sites and many restaurants and other entertainment

We spent one night here so we could visit the nearby sites. The room was excellent and bathrooms were clean. Room has a refrigerator (good for storing bottled water). Slept good on the bed. The lobby was interesting. I liked the added service of lemon/lime water in the lobby as it was really hot outside when we were there. Breakfast was very good. OK, it is a tad bit expensive here but when you compare with other places and the fact that it is in an ideal location, the value/price is about the same as other comparable places. Good thing I made the reservation many months in advance as we got out of there just as the Democrats were coming in.

It was dumb luck we stumbled upon this hotel. My husband and I were going to a concert at BB&T pavilion. We just needed a place to sleep that night so we didn't have to drive the hour and a half home afterwards, so we were looking for something close at a decent price and this fit the bill. It's in walking distance to the ferry that takes you to the pavilion and half the price of some other hotels in the area. It doesn't look like anything special from the outside, but we were just looking for convenience. They also offer parking, which is a bonus, since parking in Philadelphia can be a nightmare. Walking in, it's beautifully decorated. They were able to preserve the historic look and feel, with modern conveniences. The room was average size. It was clean and the bed comfortable. They also offer a full breakfast. Location doesn't get more convenient. It's in the middle of plenty of bars and shopping and restaurants. This city definitely doesn't sleep. It's a few blocks from Penn's Landing, which is worth hanging out at for a fun weekend in itself. And though we didn't have the time, it's also walking distance to several museums and historical sites. You can't beat the price-- they offer a steep military discount on top of the already reasonable rates. But what truly sets this hotel apart is the staff. Everyone was friendly and greeted us with a smile. The front desk was knowledgeable and accomodating. Lynn really went above and beyond to ensure we had a good weekend. We really appreciate that. I stayed here one night on a business layover. The hotel was very nice and decorated in a colonial style. Breakfast was good and room was comfortable although on the smaller side, but with these older buildings that's common. Would definitely stay again.

My husband and I just returned from a two night stay. This hotel is just a few blocks from anything you would want to visit in the historic district. Our room had lots of charm and was incredibly comfortable. Many places to eat are within walking distance. The breakfast and tea time (cookies included) are great. This hotel is a great value for the price.

Well, we just stayed again at this wonderful gem. It never ceases to amaze me, it just keeps getting better. The staff is the best (very well informed) and the rooms are spotless. The lobby is a wonderful area and great to just relax in after a walking tour of the historic area. During this visit I saw the magnificent structure directly across the street and asked what that beautiful building is. I learned that it's the new 140 million dollar, American Revolutionary Museum which opens in April 2017. WOW!!! I already made my next reservation and another for April 2017. Thank you Best Western! We love it here!!!

Keep in mind this hotel is historic! It is located in walking distance to everything. The parking garage is offsite but you can unload at the front. Paying to park was a bummer. $20.50/day. The hotel elevator is small, but at least they have one! We saw a queen room which was very tiny. Enough room for the bed and limited walking. However the King suite is GORGEOUS! Large and inviting. We went for a vacation to independence hall, Benjamin Franklin Museum and other historic places. Great place to start. Just remember it is an older hotel. If you're looking for luxury, don't stay here, but if you are looking for somewhere to place your head while you tour all day long this place is it!! The front desk staff was FABULOUS!! I can't recall her name but she went over and above to accommodate us. We would definitely stay at again if we return. Check out City Tavern close by too for lunch/dinner.

New five star hotels may have what some call class,but it comes at very high rates, and they have no history or character. This one has a great history, great rooms, great service, and great location, at reasonable prices. Right in the heart of historic old Philadelphia. Stay here. I'd do it again.

It is located within a few blocks to major historic sites, Penns landing, Harborfront, and restaurants etc. Clean and inviting lobby, and rooms. There is ongoing outside construction noise early in the morning during the week. Very caring staff from the front desk to the cleaning, and breakfast folks. Breakfast is the usual Juice, yogurt, breads, mini muffins, cereal, scrambled eggs, hot sausages and/or bacon and the Liberty Bell wafflemaker in plain or chocolate. The queen beds were super comfy, just right! My wife wants one to replace our current bed.

The hotel was very conveniently located to historic sites. The lobby is very pretty and comfortable to sit in. In the Lobby there is COLD lemon/lime water all afternoon and cookies later in the afternoon for guests. The rooms were clean and comfortable and quiet! Breakfast was great! We enjoyed the Liberty Bell waffles and other breakfast items. The Breakfast staff is very helpful and friendly. Would stay there again.

This was pleasant surprise as a BW hotel in the middle of Philadelphia, at 36 rooms in a renovated historical building it's every bit a comfortable short stay boutique hotel. Tall ceilings make the room feel bigger than it is but I've been in smaller boutique hotels at twice the price. Liberty bell is just a short three block walk (narrow block dimensions) to the right as you come out the main entrance. Staff are all very friendly and helpful, breakfast was BW style and area was clean and comfortable. Parking is available, for fee, just a short 5 min walk from the hotel in a public parking lot.

So I visited this hotel for a couple nights and the first night I booked a room online... the price said 150 something but in the end the charge on my credit card was more than 181 dollars.. then I wanted to extend my stay for one more night and the price quoted to me was 131$, but the charge on my credit card was around 191$ after a few days. I feel deceived by the hotel manager. Everything else was ok but this extreme overcharging is unacceptable!

We. stayed here for a wedding. We were able to check in early. The room was small but clean. We weren't planning to spend time in the room so the size did not matter. It is centrally located in the Independence Mall area. There are plenty of restaurants close by.

We loved this hotel! Lots of character in the old building and super friendly staff. Walking distance to a ton of tourist sites-- we checked out Elfreths Alley, the Betsy Ross house, Franklin Square Park, and walked by the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. And that was with a pregnant lady and small child in tow, most of these sites are no more than a few blocks away! I highly recommend staying here-- great price for the location!

Enjoyed our stay. Luckily has provision for parking, which is difficult in this part of town. Easy check in & friendly responsive service. Free wifi & breakfast ( which is fairly good) Walking distance from Independence hall & most historic sites.

This was our first visit to Philadelphia and selecting this hotel was intentional because of its location to Independence Hall. We were even more excited by the beautiful, historic interior and super friendly staff. We really loved the breakfast selection and layout, as well as the dining room set up. We were visiting other cities as well and this was our 3rd stop and by far the best room we had been in and the pillows were wonderful. I especially appreciated the shower because of the large "rain" style shower head, so great after being in the car for hours! Thank you for a great memorable stay, we would definitely recommend this hotel!!!

We only stayed for one night but it was a great stay. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Parking was easy and in Philly that's saying a lot. It was walking distance to Festival pier where we were seeing a concert. The room was clean-they are a bit smaller but its an historic building. The free breakfast was delicious---your waffle has a liberty bell on it! i usually stay in Best Westerns and this was one of the best ones.

Pros- customer service was great especially Lynne She got us everything we needed including replacing our broken TV. The beds were comfortable and air con worked well. The breakfast was good too good location. Cons- our room had a terrible view. TV didn't work. Our room was near the elevator.

We loved our stay at this historical hotel. Rooms will be small and narrow due to it being an old building. But we were so pleased! From the helpful staff to a great breakfast, our stay was amazing! We even got parking and our suitcases stored today in order for us to explore old city. Thank you BW for making my daughter's bday trip memorable in Philly even without trying and just working to your everyday high standards! We will be back someday!

We chose this hotel primarily for its proximity to the Independence National Historic Park. It was right in the middle of Old Philadelphia a short walk from all of the historical sites. Established in 1856 it is an old hotel that has been restored and updated in terms of creature comforts. Our room was large although a strange layout. Our windows looked out on 2nd Street from the 3rd floor and reasonably quiet. Breakfast is included and includes hot entrees, waffles and much more changing every day. Staff is really wonderful and helpful. We arrived at about 6 AM and they were able to get us into a room. On Wednesday night, we were treated to wine, cheese and snacks. Very close to public transportation and the Philly Flash, a hop on hop off tour type bus running a fixed route to all of the primary tourist locations. Best part is all the public transportation including the Philly Flash are free for seniors.

The hotel is right in the middle of old Philadelphia and is itself in an historical building. My room was extremely comfortable with an excellent mattress and great choice of pillows. It was extremely quiet, too. It was very dark however and I needed to turn the lights on during the day. Make sure to ask for a higher floor or a brighter room. The bathroom was perfect and the amenities superior to many hotels in the same class. The breakfast was good and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. I loved the location and there are many outstanding restaurants in the area.

The hotel is in the older part of the city near the Liberty Bell. Easy access to everything by cab. Market St. is within walking distance. Lots of shops and restaurants. Franklin Ice Cream is near! Reminded me of my time as a little girl. Long line but it moved fast.

This hotel is in a beautiful old building. The staff here was excellent, attending immediately to our needs with very pleasant attitudes. Our room was very clean, the bathroom was immaculate. We had the handicapped room and it was sparsely furnished to make it more open. So there was only the desk chair to sit on. The only table was the desk. There was no end table on one side of the bed and only the desk on the other. We just could not get comfortable to watch TV or eat in our room. All of this being said, I believe that it was only this handicapped room that was like this. The hotel overall was very nice and I would stay there again, but in a regular room.

We stayed here as a family of four (mom, dad, two teen boys); the hotel is very historic and quaint with a great location - walking distance to historic area and attractions. The staff was very friendly and free water water and snacks in the lobby. The hotel offered the usual type of free breakfast,which serves the purpose for a family on the go who doesn't like to get up any earlier than necessary. The only down side is that our room was quite small. The bathroom was also quite small. Our boys are now the size of adults and we all had large suitcases. However, for just a few nights and no more than we were in the room, it worked just fine and the location was worth a lot to us. Right now there is construction going on across the street but we were not in our room during the day so was not a problem as far as noise or workers seeing in our room.

What a charming hotel! Staff is so friendly and helpful. All were knowledgeable about the city and took time to give directions as well as recommend the best way to get around the city and what to see. Hotel rooms were well appointed and clean. Breakfast offered was bountiful. Eggs, bacon, make your own waffles, yogurt, bagels, toast, English muffins, asst cereals. Great location to all historical sights and lots restaurants in area within walking distance. Highly recommend

Took my daughter to Philly for the 4th, found this hotel to be in a perfect location for the main historic sites, with easy access to other landmarks such as the Franklin Institute and Museum of Art. Hotel staff was very helpful. Breakfast was ok, typical hotel breakfast. Good restaurants nearby. Room were a little on the small side but plenty for our needs, was very clean. Overall a great place to stay.

Very good hotel in the old Philadelphia. very kind staff, especially Mrs. Lynn. The hotel has an elegant, comfortable and offers a delicious afternoon tea with cookies. I would like to go back to staying in this hotel.

This BW is an historical landmark. The lobby is just gorgeous. The rooms are wonderful - with very high ceilings. The bed and pillows were oh-so-comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean. The breakfast is plentiful, and the breakfast room is just lovely. They serve tea and cookies in the lobby in the afternoon, which is a truly pleasant experience. We loved everything about our stay at this hotel. OH- and a major plus is the ice cream (gelato) place next store (unaffiliated). The food in Phili is very good on average, but this place has truly wonderful ice creams.

Last minute reservation. Hotel is charming and quaint and much more than expected from a traditional Best Western property. You cannot beat its location in relation to near-by restaurants and historic sites. While short on some amenities (pool, gym etc) it is great value for the money. Highly recommend this property for either business or leisure travel to Philadelphia.

we picked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews and were not disappointed. It's a small and very charming hotel- we guessed about 35-40 rooms. We had a roomy king room with a pull out sofa for our son. We were able to walk to all the historic spots- no more than 10 minutes to the liberty bell- and took the subway to see a phillies game. Many good restaurants on Market Street- one block over. One way streets and lots of traffic make it a little hard to drive. We were able to see the Penn Landing fireworks from just outside the front door.

We had a king room on the second floor - very quiet The parking is a block away but no inconvenience at all, just a nice walk in the summer time. The hotel is so special, comfortable bed and everything is so clean and inviting. The breakfast was the greatest- even real silverware, tablecloths and napkins. Lots of variety, oatmeal & the fixings, fruit, waffles with the LibertyBell on them, cereal and danish rolls. We took in several of sights, walked to the Independence Hall, Betsy Ross House and the Christ Church where many famous men worshiped.

We wanted to stay near the historic district and picked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The hotel is small and charming (though no on-site gym facilities that disappointed our 14 year old). The staff are friendly & helpful. The internet was very good with no intermittent issues that we sometimes experience at other hotels. There are coffee & cookies in the lobby in the afternoon. It is right in the middle of everything- we could walk to restaurants, Independence Hall and all the historical areas. The nearby subway made it easy for us to get to a Phillies game. It is VERY congested in the downtown area and driving can be a little stressful. We parked our car and didn't use it the whole trip. The hotel has two spaces in front for loading & unloading and then you self park a few blocks away.

The best point of this hotel is location. It is near the historic area and the waterfront and shopping I found it a bit pricey--$300 for one night for basic room (this includes the city's $42 taxes and the $17 parking fee). I know I know. It's Phillie what do I expect Nice set up for check in but parking is not on site. It's about block and a half away. Process is inconvenient. You have to drive back to the hotel after leaving the parking lot to return the parking card (or incur $75 fee) Lobby is nice can visit or play games Have coffee in lobby. Also afternoon tea and (store bought) cookies. Staff were attentive and very friendly Hallways where rooms are feel old,narrow but are clean and well maintained Room was average size, clean. Everything in working order. View of brick building Have in room coffee maker. Have tv but it's in a cupboard without the ability to pull it out. Thus hard to see while in bed Breakfast was standard fare--instant oatmeal. Frozen/thawed pastries. Waffle maker. Scrambled eggs. Sausage. Nice eating area. All ok but nothing fancy There is a gelato place next door. You are within a couple of blocks of Liberty bell, ben Franklin house All in all. Nice place to stay but pricey and nothing dramatic to say I would only stay here

This hotel was walking distance to all the main historical sites that we wanted to see so that was very convenient. I checked in online and had requested a room away from the elevator to avoid possible noise. When we checked in we were given the room right next to the elevator so I requested a different room. However they were fully booked so couldn't get a different room. Thank goodness that it wasn't too noisy. Aside from our room location, everything was good. Complimentary Breakfast was good. A few hot breakfast items in addition to the usual continental selection. Parking is at a lot a couple blocks away but you can park your car for 30 minutes curbside to unload luggage which was helpful. The beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We stayed in a two bedroom queen room. The room had a microwave and refrigerator which was wonderful for those late night snacks. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. There is a museum being refurbished across the street. We never heard any construction noise. They offer garage parking a couple blocks away (for a fee). There are a couple 30 minute spots in front of the hotel so you can unload your bags before parking at the garage. Breakfast was really good. They had waffles, eggs, bacon, cereal, breads, and pastries. This hotel was perfectly located for walking to many different restaurants. It was about a 10 minute walk to Independence Hall. We did a couple walking tours, Duck Boat, Hop on Hop Off bus which all started at Independence Hall. We loved it here and will definitely stay here again!

Quiet, clean, comfortable, brilliant location, efficient and friendly staff. Only downside is that the room was quite small but that can't be helped in an old building. Free cheese and wine on a Wednesday night! Would happily stay again.

The location is great - just a few blocks from Independence Park. The breakfast is also wonderful - I expected a continental cold breakfast. There was waffles, hot cereal, eggs, and more. The staff is also helpful. We were very satisfied.

The hotel is in a good location close to attractions such as the Liberty Bell. The room was colonial style, so not modern, adequate size (not very large) and very clean. We requested a quiet room, and given 4th floor at the back which was good. The breakfast was basic but not great, waffles were the best option. The eggs etc looked like they had been there too long. My main issue was with the air conditioning in the room, it was 93 deg outside so we needed it on all the time, unfortunately although it was very effective, it was either on full blast or off. It was like being in a wind tunnel and with the noise was impossible to sleep with it on. The staff were very helpful during check in & car parking. There was a fridge in the room, and ice machine/vending available. Apart from breakfast & air con, I was happy with the stay and would recommend.

We just spent three nights here, and we loved it!! The location is fantastic - just a couple of blocks from the historical sites - easy walk. The breakfast was great - hot delicious breakfast!! There were cookies in the afternoon in the lobby, too!! Our room was fine - not large as this is an older historic hotel - but big enough. Refrigerator and microwave in the room. The people were so nice, too. The ladies who worked the afternoon shift made us restaurant reservations with which we were very pleased. Also, typed directions were given to us to take the subway to the baseball game which we appreciated. I would definitely stay here again - it was our favorite during our two week trip in the Northeast.

Once we got over the shock of trying to park to check in and then the shock that parking is a block away, we realized this place is worth it. Everyone we met that works there were so nice. Check in was slow, but they are very thorough with directions and such. Room was super clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was free and very good. We liked it so much we are staying again in August.
