Welcome to San Isidro, the largest city in the southern zone of Costa Rica, also affectionately referred to by locals as Perez Zeledon, located in the province of San Jose. In the Valley of the General, surrounded by Talamanca Mountains, the Cordillera de Talamanca is a Mountain range that lies on the border between Costa Rica and Panama. The Best Western Hotel Zima is undoubtedly the quietest hotel of the area, with a convenient location nearby to supermarkets, drugstores, restaurants, stores and bars, as well a just meters from the Musoc bus station which provides transportation service between San Jose- San Isidro-San Jose. Many tourists utilize San Isidro del General as a stopping point when traveling between San Jose and other southern Costa Rica destinations such as Dominical, Uvita, Golfito, the Peninsula de Osa and Puerto Jimenez. Perez Zeledon is also great town to prepare for treks to Cerro de la Muerte and Cerro Chirripo, which is Costa Rican´s highest peak and most challenging climb. In summer it is possible on clear days to see all across the country (from the Pacific Ocean to the Caribbean Sea). It would be a pleasure to coordinate your tours to Nauyaca Water Falls (road to Dominical) as well outdoor activities such as bird watching, horseback riding in Las Quebradas Center Biological.

    « Excellent choice »

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night. The staff were excellent. The room was was very comfortable hot shower amazing... It appeared to have been recently upgraded. We had a little difficulty finding the hotel as we were using Google maps. Just look for the small sign across from the Mc Donald's. Breakfast was delicious. We opted for the local fare. I asked the waiter for some mango. Please see the attached picture. It as almost to pretty to eat. We support Family owned businesses. Will definitely recommend and stay in the future.

« THIS IS FOR THE RESTAURANT!!!! »

This is a great quiet place to have an amazing meal. I had a Salpicón Seviche, Filete Miñón with veggies and red wine. It was all wonderful and the service was great. It all for better when I got the Coconut Flan. Go for it!!! Is a humble place with good food.

« Lovely large room, great beds »

We were pleasantly surprised, the room and furnishings were all new, clean and very comfortable. The staff extremely helpful and pleasant. The pool could use a little work. But it was a quiet oasis in the middle of the city.

    « Excellent Choice! »

Just stayed one night, but the hotel has everything you need. The room and ensuite bathroom were spacious and very clean. Room amenities very good, hospitality tray, refrigerator, nice size tv with good choice of channels. Lovely pool area and restaurant. Staff very welcoming. Located within easy walking distance of town centre. Highly recommended.

    « Taken advantage of »

When I first arrived at Best Western , the gentleman was very kind, honest, gave a good price for the room. Which was a junior suite. After my inital stay, I needed to stay one more night before heading back to San Jose. I was told the room i was in was not available. However, when i went online it allowed me to reserve the room. When i explained this to the lady (angie?) working the front desk, she said im sorry it must be a techincal issue. Then she charged me full price for the room that I had reserved(jr suite), not the room i was given. When i asked her why the price doubled she said it was because of the number of people staying in the hotel. Then she said she did charge the wrong price and would reduce it by $20. Then she ran my card again. We called several times and was reassured that my card would be credited the overcharge. Im now back in the USA, a week has passed and they still did not fix it. I was told the room would be around $60 dollars for a night, my card was charged $120. I waited before writing the review to give them an opportunity to correct it. They have not. The gentleman working the counter my first night was very kind, even remembered my name two days later at breakfast. The staff in the restaurant were always pleasant and friendly. To bad one employee that likes to overcharge and take advantage of people have left me very disappointed. I will never stay at best western in perez zeledon again. My tip, make sure you verify your reservation over the phone, and the price , then check what they charged if you plan to stay there. My advice, go to another hotel.

« Nice place to rest »

I have been in this place 2 times by now and it is not a luxury place but sure you can have a nice rest. Rooms are vig enough for 1-2 people. Both times they were clean and with good WiFi signal. Breakfast is included and its good.

« Bad taste in my mouth »

I made a reservation for a junior suite & advised "up front" we were traveling with my husband's service dog. The young man I spoke to was extremely polite & nice. He said that was not a problem. He confirmed my reservation & took both my credit card information (to guarantee the room) & my phone number. Finding the hotel was difficult as there are no signs on the main highway indicating it was a couple of blocks off the highway. After a phone call & 2 stops to ask for help we arrived. The receptionist told me they did not accept pets. I explained he was not simply a pet but a medical service dog & that the person who took my reservation was made aware. She disappeared & finally returned to tell me we were not welcome with the dog. She did help me find another hotel: Perez Zeledon Country Club, which was in a quieter location, better suited for us & our dog. However, that took another hour to find & finally the management there sent someone to show us the way.

« Very decent place with a good restaurant »

My husband and I spent a night at Hotel Zima recently. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the hotel. It was well run, very clean and friendly. The food was good the room was nice. The mattress was getting old, but not too bad yet.

    « Little Oasis »

We stayed here for one night on March 27, 2016. Though it's in a relatively large city, it has the feel of a country-side estate. Our room was very nice, with large windows and air conditioning. The open air restaurant has great atmosphere and offers food for a variety of tastes. A choice of 5 different breakfasts is included in the reasonable price. The staff speak English, and they are very friendly and accommodating. Use colones, USD, Visa or MasterCard.

    « A lovely place to relax »

The Hotel Zima was a lovely place to stay in San Isidro. A ten-minute walk to the center of town, it had comfortable rooms and a lovely poolside area. The staff was very accommodating and responded quickly to any necessities. The only drawback was some issues with water pressure and adequate hot water, but we would certainly stay here again.

    « Nice little hotel »

It's your average hotel, good service and location. It has pool for the children. I liked it and would come back. The hotel seems like it was old and remodeled but it's ok. Price is right. Quiet place/area.

« Stopped in our travels »

We stopped here for a night stay and they had Clean rooms with good pricing...food in restaurant with very good price and delicious. The reception desk was very helpful and eager to please. The location is a little hidden, but once you find it, it's central to shopping and restaurants in San Isidro

« Great food in an oases of peace »

The staff is really friendly and eager to please. Given the constant noise it is amazingly quiet once you enter the premises. The restaurant is great with a chef who will go out of his way to make you something nice. We stayed for several days while on business and each night after work it felt like coming home....

    « Nice place »

I spent one night at the Best Western Hotel Zima on a business trip to San Isidro. I thought the room was top notch and the staff was well trained and extremely pleasant. Parking is ample and the WiFi is good, even in the room. I suspect noise could be a problem at times due to the pool and the restaurant being in the center courtyard, but it was not unbearable for my stay. It is walking distance to a few restaurants on the main highway. That's a plus for me as I don't like to drive in the evening. I will likely stay here in the future.

    « Totally Unacceptible »

I arrived at this hotel as I had to spend an unexpected night in Perez. It was recommended by the restaurant in which I had lunch. The man behind the counter was very unfriendly. I said I would like a room with one bed. He said we do not have any. I said rooms or rooms with one bed. He asked if I had a cell phone. Weird. I said yes. He said then book it there. To which I said excuse me? If book it there it is more work for me and you have to pay commission on the booking. That doesn't make sense for either of us. There were rooms available, as I had checked via my phone before I went. He said he couldn't help. I insisted and he said he would have to "talk with someone". I waited a while and then left. Horrible customer service.

« Comfortable Spot with good restaurant in San Isidro »

I booked here on Expedia, after flying to CR and driving from San Jose was a relaxing quaint place to stay in the city. It is tucked away about a block off of the main street, easy to get to, but quiet considering how close it is to the square. I walked everywhere but is a short taxi ride as well. The staff was kind, the restaurant was pretty tasty and reasonably priced and the pool area was clean. Is a pretty small facility, the pther guests seemed like they were having a good time as well.
