    « Good value »

Visited to attend a wedding at another hotel, very nice hotel clean and comfortable and staff lovely. When I went to pay the bill as we were leaving early morning I was offered a packed breakfast to take with us and what a breakfast it was we could barely carry it as there was so much. Recommend this hotel for a lovely peaceful break.

« A wedding venue with attached hotel »

I agree with the review left by mobility mike re breakfast. I think the staff were just worn out, working late at night at weddings, then having to be up early to serve breakfast. Not a lot of choice and, as Mike says, once something had run out, then it was your hard luck. If you like watching Italian weddings, then you'll be in paradise. There are no sun loungers by the pool, probably to discourage guests from cluttering the place up. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. Our room faced the pool and was quiet. The sun loungers provided on the balcony didn't have cushions. It's this sort of lack of attention to detail which lets the hotel down. The room safe didn't work and it looked like there was a recurring problem with it judging from our experience. We didn't eat in the hotel but at the Athena which was less than ten mins walk away, on the beach. Food there was good.

    « Superior property »

We chose this the week before while we were in Apulia, and were delighted with the property. We wanted something close to Paestum Park and this is a few minutes away. Elegant with some exquisite art and decor, gorgeous garden and pool area. They must have lots of weddings as their policy closes the pool to guests the afternoon of a wedding but provides use of the adjacent, sister property's pool and other facilities. Very good breakfast. Surprisingly We tried to book through the Best Western site but got a better rate through Booking.com

« Here because of a wedding at Savoy Hotel »

The Hotel lookes nice from outside, first impression when you check in, go for dinner, breakfest etc is good, you think "yes, good choice, 4stars are ok", but the derails giving the difference (for me). So you do not find any bad-slippers for walking in your room for example (stone -floor) or the water to drink in the room is not for free. Little things but make the difference from three to four star hotel. Overal I'm happy here so far but for me its a three star hotel. Lets see after the hole journey time if I have to write another review.

« Small but perfectly formed »

My wife and I stayed here for a week recently and it proved to be an almost perfect choice. I say almost because it was let down slightly by the breakfast. There wasn't a great choice for a hotel of this standard and unless you were down at breakfast early they would run out of certain things and not top them up. They advertise breakfast from 7:30 to 10am and we were usually in by 9; however, we found it wasn't early enough to get what you want. The staff in the dining room seemed a bit uninterested which was strange because all the other staff at the hotel were lovely. Maybe they just don't like early starts. The hotel grounds and pool were really nice and you could use the facilities at the Savoy hotel next door as they are part of the same group. Unfortunately once you left the hotel it was a different story; we found this part of Italy very dirty with lots of rubbish on the streets and fly tipping. Overall I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Esplanade, they just need to up their game on the breakfast front.

« Best hotel is Southern Italy »

The place is spotless and the gardens are magnificent. The rooms are modern, comfortable, with great views of the pool and the sub-tropical gardens. The food is exquisite. The pools are inviting, and so beautifully designed. This place is a gem located right across from the beautiful Athena beach. And the staff is superb, professional, English-speaking. You will be greeted by Mario, who makes sure all your needs are addressed. Staying at this place is an experience not to be missed.

    « Weekend in Paestum »

We were at this hotel over the weekend of September 30th thru October 3rd 2016. There was a wedding Saturday and Sunday and a Christening on Sunday also. We were not allowed to use the pool or the main restaurant the whole time we were there as it was reserved for wedding guests ! If you wanted to swim you had to go to the hotel next door. There was a lot of noise including very loud fireworks . It is a very long walk to the ruins so we needed a taxi, each way was 15 euros. Also we needed a taxi to and from the train station, same price. The people there, with one exception, were very accommodating and pleasant, especially Emmanuel. There is a beach club 93 which is a 20 minute walk. You are charged 5 euros for each beach towel which is refunded upon return of the towels. The restaurant, (we had to use an annex), is good and accommodates any dietary needs, although the menu is limited. I would not advise this hotel if they are hosting a wedding !!

« Good location for Paestum & beach »

The hotel is situated close to the ancient Greek temples and museum in Paestum and a short walk from a sandy beach. Friendly welcome and we found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size, if a bit bland, very clean with a comfortable bed and a large walk in shower. This small hotel, only twenty four rooms, has pleasant grounds and a pool and is geared to cater for large parties, weddings etc. this restricted access to some areas at times. The comfortable lounge bar is presided over by Emmanuel who was very friendly and informative. There is a limited bar food menu but the restaurant provided very well prepared and presented food at reasonable prices. Access to a local private sandy beach area, with loungers, umbrellas a bar and restaurant, about ten minutes walk away is included. Beach/Pool towels are provided at reception. Tea/coffee makings were not provided in the room but were bought up by room service on request if required (at no extra charge) but this wasn't automatically replenished.

« The service in the restaurant needs approvement »

Nice hotel close to the beach and with a beautiful garden and pool. The beds are very comfortable. Upon arrival we had a problem with the sink which was blocked but after 3 calls at the reception and 1 day, they fixed the problem. The food at the restaurant was beautiful and delicious but the service needs improvement. The staff was a little bit nervous and they caused a lot of noise when they were taking the dirty plats from the table.

    « nice quiet hotel »

Nice hotel, in quiet surroundings, not far from the Paestum temple site. The rooms are clean and have all the comfort you wish. Sadly we could not use the hotel pool, but could use the hotelpool next door, due to a wedding banquet. The restaurant is very good, but the music might be dimmed a little. For your liking, Emanuelle makes lovely smoothies and is a good barman.

    « Good hotel »

We stayed in this hotel for 5 days and we enjoyed our stay here. This is a beautiful and tasteful hotel, very nice and very clean. Beautiful garden and swimming pool. Unfortunately we hardly used the pool due to wedding parties every day. But that was no problem at all since the hotel has its own beachclub with a private beach including beds, towels and a free shuttlebus that will take you there. We also had lunch here and that was soooo delicious! In the hotel we had a room with garden view and enjoyed all the weddings from our balcony! At the end of the parties we could enjoy the professional fireworks, so nice! If you stay here for a quiet vacation, you'd better take a room on the road side. Too bad that if it's raining, there's not much to do or see in this neighbourhood, except of course for the beautiful Greek temples! But I definitely recommand this wonderful hotel!

    « Wedding and holiday »

This hotel offered very good stay. The room was large and comfortable & the staff were friendly and attentive. It's a great place to stay with a great stylish ambience at a reasonable price. The only downside is that there is no currency exchange and the nearest ATM is in town which is a short can ride, not walking

    « Nice but.... »

Hotel is nice. Rooms are clean and spacious. Staff is friendly. Breakfast is very good. It's normal 4* standard hotel. ...but there are some things which are upset 1. Hotel is not fare from the beach (3-4 minutes) but quite fare away from their beach club 15 minutes walk (Beach Club 93). Ok you can take hotel shuttle but is going once in hour only. 2. You arrive by your own/rental car to the hotel, lot of staff inside, nobody help you with your luggage. The same after check in. You have to take your luggage by your self, nobody helps. 3. Every saturday and sunday hotel organize weddings. Beautiful, ......but not for the hotel guests. The swimming pool, and the swimming pool area, garden area on saturday at 6pm are closed for hotel guests, so you can be in the lobby only, because of the wedding. Sunday you can use the swimming pool and the area only in the morning, after ev. is closed because of the wedding. Ok they let you to use the swimming pool in Savoy Hotel but it is not the same. Wedding guests are using the park place which is at the hotel, so during the weddings there is really no place to park at the hotel, maybe 400-500-600 metres away. 4. We had room No 103, room nice but from both window the view was on some garbage area (on the restaurant left side) and the restauran deck. So no view, no evening on the balcony with glass of wine, forget.

« Nice hotel but there's some things to improve on »

We stayed here for 5 nights and overall we has a very nice time but there's some aspects the hotel needs to improve on. The pool, gardens and surrounds are very modern, nice and clean. The rooms are nice and spacious. The reception and restaurant service staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast spread was very expansive and they offered high quality produce which was fantastic. The food and service in the restaurant was exceptional, although the servings were very small. Now for some negative points: * We pulled up to the hotel in our car and weren't offered any help to carry our bags despite us seeing numerous staff in the lobby area just staring at us. This was quite strange and certainly didn't set a good tone for the stay. * There were no staff around the pool so if you wanted a drink or if you needed sun beds (there was a short supply of sun beds), you had to walk to reception and ask which is rather annoying. On the one occasion we did order drinks to the pool, we waited for 30-45 minutes then I had to walk back to the bar to remind them and ended up carrying them down myself. Why not have someone come down to the pool every 30 minutes and ask if anyone would like drinks? It's an opportunity to create more revenue. *The shower leaked in the bathroom - easily fixed but the hotel should keep on top of maintenance issues like this. * The A/C was very noisy - same as above * WiFi was extremely slow and there was no coverage in the restaurant or pool - look to invest in a decent internet connection and wifi extenders for your hotel guests. * The "double bed" is the usual european standard of pushing 2 single beds together - I know this is normal in Europe but it's still something to mention.

    « New and upmarket »

Location ok near the beach but no sea views. Very clean and tidy with beautiful gardens and a magnificent swimming pool. Room was very spacious with a small balcony looking out on to pine trees. Large carpark alongside hotel. Have to drive to get to restaurants in town. Big wedding on in hotel last night so we did not try the in-hotel restaurant

« Pretty 4-star hotel with nice garden »

A very pretty 4-star hotel, nicely decorated and right opposite an amazing seaside pine forest and long sandy beach. We were here on business, plus it was the end of the season, so we didn't use the pool or the outside bar, but they looked good. The breakfast was very nice, with good fruit, cheese and cakes. The room comfortable, though rather bland compared to the common areas. Staff polite and helpful.

« One of the best locations in Paestum »

This was a very good decision to us BW Esplanade in Paestum. There was no negatrive surprise and there was only one so to say thing to might be improved, which is the beach service provided. The rest was perfect.

« Very disappointing, especially since we splurged »

We only spent one night here, in order to visit the fabulous Greek (and Roman) ruins at Paestum. Our hotel experience was far from fabulous. My husband chose this hotel based on the photos of the pool and landscaping. When we arrived, extremely hot, we saw a note in the elevator, that the pool and grounds were closed due to a wedding! The front desk person did not mention it. Yes we could go next door, but you don't pay big bucks to do that. Also my dinner entree that evening was very unappetizing. It had that fishy smell and frankly tasted terrible after all the sumptuous Italian dishes we had the last several days in Sorrento and Ischia. The room itself was beautiful, nice and cool, and the bed comfortable. The included breakfast the next morning was great - although it would have been nice to know before we loaded up our plates that you could have ordered eggs - nevermind! FYI the transport cost to and from the hotel to the ruins is 10 euros each way. All in all, a lot of money spent for very little value.

    « Really a 5 »

We sought a few less expensive days at the beach and to see the Greek Temples. The temples and museum were great and this hotel exceeded our expectations for lodging and food at what turned out to be a really nice beach. Room very large and very clean. Hotel public areas, pools, and gardens beautiful(weddings every day did not limit our access). Service was exceptional especially Pascale in the restaurant that we uncharacteristically ate at all 3 nights(****). Pine forest with trails to beach with free chairs and Athena restaurant also good and inexpensive-rent a towel from the lobby desk $5. Walk into town a little far and part of it you have to walk on narrow roads with traffic but there is plenty of parking. Awesome hotel in what seems like a more working class beach vacation spot and definitely less expensive than the big more touristy beach towns.

    « Welcoming »

An absolute pleasure ! I travel for work and was lucky to have a day off to spend in this beautiful hotel, excellent service and food, welcoming staff giving this structure an intimate and peaceful atmosphere, lovely surroundings with a fantastic pool and garden . . . I would come back here on holiday immediately ! Well done, simply fantastic !
