Best Western Plus Parkhotel Maximilian Ottobeuren

"We have a large group sir, you can't have breakfast before 9AM." Really? I want to leave at 8.30, I want my breakfast at 8AM. "Sorry sir, I can't help you, I can give you your breakfast money back." This is so basic, I still can't believe it.

Hotel is in a great location, retreat from city noise. Restaurant is great, dinner was really nice. What I liked the most was the spa area with saunas, pool, jacuzzi. Room was very spacious, breakfast was also great.

We stumbled upon this place when looking for lodging close to Neuschwanstein Castle on a holiday weekend. An easy drive up the motorway to a cute town and a very comfortable hotel with good amenities. The room was surprisingly large, had a beautiful view and staff was friendly. I'd stay here again!

Lovely clean & comfortable room, great bed, nice bathroom. I didn't use the spa but I walked around it and it looked lovely. The pool was lovely. Restaurant was uninspiring and very expensive. No complementary water in the room, they wanted €3,50 for a bottle and €5,20 for the same bottle in the restaurant. So, great to stay in and use the facilities but go out to eat.

I visited for a birthday event with family: - the best thing in the hotel is that the rooms are very, very nice and spacious. - breakfast and dinner buffets were elaborate, however the personnel was not always able to refill the supply and could be out of plates or spoons or similar. - for the dinner there was outside on the terrasse a special grill area, where you can order meat or or fish, this was great - swimming pool outside is a nice and saunas also ok, however the relaxing area could be more comfortable: the sunbeds are too many and close to each other - the bar was comfy, nice cocktails and very friendly service

This is our third stay here as we love Ottobeuron, the surroundings, the environment and the location of the hotel. I can imagine that once upon a time, this was a majestic hotel, built with passion, and determined to be one of the best hotels in the region. However, our first two visits in August 2019 showed the hotel to be tired and worn, service disappointing and menu limited. There seems to have been a mismatched between what the hotel portrays on its images and what in reality the hotel is. Our third visit - we had no choice because of the hotel's location to our appointments made it convenient - showed us that the hotel is making some effort. First, it is now flagged Best Western (a mismatch in brand, surely), but perhaps this is some attempt to bring in some standards. Next, the rooms are going through a renovation. We were pleased to see this as the designer has taste and we stayed in one of the upgraded rooms. Although the bathrooms were untouched, the renovated rooms a nicely appointed. However, what the hotel has failed to undertake - and what I find can overcome so many shortfalls - is the service standard. The internet in our room was at one bar for part of the day and not functioning for the rest of evening and night. The reception had no idea how to fix this. The hotel's only restaurant had a limited menu - although everything on the menu was delicious, fresh and cooked with quality in mind - the service was less than acceptable.

I would accept that January is off-season, with less customers, which period is used for the face-lift of the hotel. But: - As we left the elevator, we found plenty of paint cans on the dirty floor, renewal works in every room, no signs or room numbers. Returning to the front desk, they led me to the other wing of the hotel, which was nice and clean with no smell of paint. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable. The shower bath, fixed to the tub wall, but at the sink only a body lotion. I had to ask for soap. - The trolley with bathroom accessories was out the hallway all day and night. - The pool did not work due to reconstruction, but the spa area is quite good. Two saunas, steam bath, tea can fruits. Only bath sheets are missing, as I found out later, they were placed in the rooms. - The breakfast was delicious. Sorry, but a bit too much “mistakes” for a 4 star superior hotel

We arrive wherry late, we get a nice service still in the restaurant. The food and the Wein collection is great. The Service was helpful and friendly. Breakfast has a big offer on food. The SPA is nice and the pool is warm.

We spent 5 nights in the hotel. The breakfast contains a really wide palett of choices, and the steaks of the restaurant are perfect choice for dinner. The wellness is also very good, unfortunataly they dont have jacuzzi, it would make the place perfect. The rooms are clean and they have the most comfortable beds I slept on in a hotel.

This is a well-run hotel in large grounds which lead down to the centre of Ottobeuren and the magnificent Basilica. You can rent bicycles from the hotel and cycle through the lovely countryside of the lower Allgäu. There is a good indoor/outdoor pool and a nice, if unexciting, restaurant. It is also within easy reach of Munich, and Memmingen airport is close by.
