    « Great Hotel »

We stayed one night (Friday) and have nothing negative to say about the place. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was spacious and had micro, fridge, quiet A/C, cutlery, dishes etc. The free breakfast was one one of the best we hace ever had. This place is kept immaculately! The bedding is top quality as is the mattress. The location is right downtown within walking distance to almost everything and also near major highways. I can not think of one complaint about this property.

    « encjoyable and comfortable »

easy walking distance to the Global Centre for Pluralism, the Museum of Nature, and the University of Ottawa.....with good taxi service for those who do not like to walk.......also Sobey's is a few blocks away for grocery shopping

    5
« Great place to stay »

Room was clean, spacious, and had everything you would need for a comfortable home like stay, we had a suite and would recommend this hotel to anyone that was going to stay in the downtown area of Ottawa.

    4
    « Comfortable and clean. »

Comfortable and clean with a nice breakfast buffet including limited hot items. Good location. No free parking. Underground parking is expensive and outdoor lot is several blocks away. Close to Museum of Nature.

    5
    « Excellent as always »

This hotel is a great place to stay in Ottawa. A little glitch at Check in as my dear wife had forgotten to reserve/confirm our room. Sandra at front desk sorted it all out and secured us a room. Great location to downtown, restaurants and highway. Fast & efficient breakfast & parking available. Noisy neighbours during the night but it's not the hotels fault just inconsiderate people. See you in June - our go to Ottawa hotel.

« Clean, well-maintained and short walk to restaurants »

Clean, well-maintained and short walk to restaurants. The breakfast was decent enough with fruit, eggs, toast, juice, coffee, tea, etc. Everything was pleasant with my experience. Nearby pubs, museum, cafés were of a good quality and variety.

    « A Day in Ottawa »

A quick overnight trip to Ottawa, this hotel came to mind as we had stayed here before (on numerous occasions). The hotel is ideal for its location and convenience to get to and out to other areas in Ottawa.

    « Always Satisfied »

With two adjoining rooms our family group was able to relax. The location is close enough to the Expressway. Directly across from Museum of Nature. Several blocks from Parliament (10 minute walk) and a short distance from the restaurants of Elgin Street. Parking ($ extra) entrance is VERY awkward and I wish could be changed. All other amenities are as expected. Reasonably priced. Pet friendly ($ extra). Included breky is standard quality but could be a little better.

    3
« This Hotel was ok at best »

It was more expensive than it should have been . Parking was a challenge and it would have been nice to have been told there was a fee. The staff was very friendly and helpful . Breakfast was very nice.

    4
    « Good Hotel »

Very decent hotel. Only issue is there is not much room when you pull up your car to check in. You can't pull into the underground parking lot without your key card. Someone was in front of me taking a bit of time checking in so there was a decent line up blocking the street by the time I was able to pull up on the driveway. Otherwise the hotel is good, breakfast is decent and we'll situated near downtown.

  • 4
    « Pleasure visit »

The location of this hotel is great, within walking distance to most main attractions. Breakfast is a pleasant plus. Parking fees on the other hand make up for the expenses saved on the breakfast. Rooms are spacious with few disappointments . Living room furniture needs to be updated or properly cleaned. Overall, good value for money.

    5
    « Excellent »

Excellent in every way and very clean! Great service amazing breakfast. Highly recommended. Don't go to the other one. There is huge difference between the two Best Western! Pay less and more! Free parking and free breakfast !

    3
« additional 25$ daily fee for parking! »

the hotel was what to expect from a best western but the hidden parking fee made the stay unreasonably priced. the hospitality was fair, nothing spectacular.. we had a minor issue with a sliding door in our room that made some noise that was not too concerning. overall a good stay if the parking was included.

    4
« Conveniently located hotel in Ottawa »

We spent two days in the hotel. It was conveniently located in downtown Ottawa, we took a 20 mins walk from the Hotel to arrive at the Parliament Hill and Byward Market area. The room was clean, has a full kitchen equipment including extra glassware and cutleries and the breakfast was good.

    4
« Great location and awesome breakfast »

The staff was very helpful. Location was ideal and close to restaurants and shopping. There were also many bus stops near by. There was a great variety of items for breakfast with hot and cold foods available. There were also plenty of types of bagels and breads.

    4
    « Very hospitabie »

The hotel was well located for what we needed. The check in was smooth and the woman who was at the front desk was very nice. On site self parking was nice to have. We were there, unfortunately, for a funeral and they offered a "bereavement" rate, which was nice. The rooms were clean and well appointed, just a bit tight.

    5
« Excellent Hotel for a Weekend Stay in Ottawa »

We spent an excellent four days in this hotel over the Easter weekend. We found the apartments to be ideal for a weekend stay as they came with a little kitchenette complete with keurig coffee maker. The apartments were clean and spacious and the hotel's "continental" breakfast was a nice surprise. The breakfast included many hot items including eggs, sausages or bacon and waffles. The staff worked hard to ensure that everyone's experience was excellent. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Ottawa.

    4
    « Nice weekend »

Our reservation for a spa fell through so we booked here for the weekend, close to the museum, Elgin street and easy access to get to were ever in Ottawa. Close to where we wanted to visit. Great room, free wifi, quiet and comfortable beds. Every thing we asked for.

    4
    « Good Location »

We stayed at the Best Western Plus, good choice and good location. We thought of renting a car but after some research, there is 3 different bus routes within 1 block. Parliament Hill is only a 15 - 20 minute walk. Major plus - rooms very clean, staff are attentive and professional. Will stay here again. Price is reasonable for downtown Ottawa.

    4
    « Great Hotel »

Best Western is clean and modernly decorated. Beds are comfortable with options of pillow type. Hotel has a complimentary hot breakfast which is rare to find these days. Overall very nice hotel and you can't beat the price. Definitely recommend to others.

« Great location, very good hotel. »

Great location for us to access and walk around the city. Our room was a lovely big suite with 2 TV's, a separate bedroom, micro-kitchen and good clean bathroom. The staff were very friendly and were able to guide us when ever we asked. A little work was being done in the reception area which was good to see it was having some updates. The breakfast is, as always pretty bad. But that is the usual with Best western and these type of hotels. But you can always eat other food than the meat and eggs and there is always plenty of coffee and juices etc....

    3
« Location and Staff make this hotel work »

This is an old hotel - the walls are very thin. the adjoining rooms you hear everything. You here people walking and talking in the corridors and when the doors close they are air tight and they slam shut. I stayed her because it was 10 minutes by car to my work location and very close walk to both Bank Street and Elgin - lots of things to see and restaurants to eat. If you are a sound sleeper not an issue but I won't stay here again for me. Also stepping into a large deep soaker tub for a shower is just an accident waiting to happen. The staff are wonderful and friendly and they are an asset to the hotel.

    5
« Really comfortable hotel in great location within downtown. Welcoming professional staff. »

Had a really nice stay at this hotel -- rooms are clean and bright and kitchenettes well equipped. Great Location. Gym small but lots of natural light and decent equipment. The front desk staff -- Sandra Gitano and Olivia were truly wonderful.

    4
    « Ottawa Weekend »

Very nice hotel and staff. Centrally located and walking distance to many attractions and restaurants.Optional outdoor parking available 3 minute walk from the hotel at half the price of the indoor option, which is charged by the hotel. Would and will stay there again.

    3
    « OK HOTEL »

The hotel is pretty decent. Rooms are great (fantastic bed). Breakfast is awful. Location is just OK. Actually, the hotel is about 2 kms from Ottawa highlights/downtown. For a tourist it is NOT a central location. Especially, if you come to Ottawa during the winter. To walk there with -5C (25F) is not great at all. You will need a taxi.

    5
    « Lovely welcoming hotel »

I stayed here as part of a business visit to ottawa. We were welcomed very warmly by the friendly reception staff, who were also very well informed and helpful when asking them where there is to eat nearby and what there is to do. The rooms were a great size with kitchen facilities, a keurig coffee machine and very comfy beds. The breakfast was good and clean, with takeout cups for the coffee which was great for when we needed a speedy breakfast. The staff were so friendly and accommodating- you get a hello and a how's your day every time you walk past reception. The location is a few blocks from Elgin street where lots of nice restaurants are located. We were also able to walk to most attractions such as the byward market and parliament within 20-30 minutes. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area.

    4
    « Almost Perfect »

Except for one thing everything about our stay was perfect. The only drawback was the overnight parking charge of $21.95 + of course tax on top of that. Guess it's par for the course as the city loves gouging visitors in this respect but hey, does Best Western have to hope on this bandwagon too?

    3
    « Decent Stay »

We travelled to Ottawa for a few days and wanted to stay close to the city centre. The Best Western is in a good location but be prepared to walk....a fair bit. It would have been great to know in advance that parking at the hotel is $21.95. It would have been nice to have a few bottles of water in the fridge to drink or to make coffee, instead of having to use tap water. Sometimes the little things make the biggest difference. Staff was pleasant and very helpful. Overall a good stay.

    5
    « Perfect all round »

Centrally located, clean, quiet room. The front desk agent was perfect, she was friendly, helpful, and sincere. This is the first time in 20+ years of business travel that everything was superior and excellent value.

    4
    « great location »

nice room, comfortable beds and good bathroom, decent breakfast with good variety including apples and bananas, hot and cold eggs, cereals and oatmeal, toast, bagels, decent selection of tea and juices

    « Excellent hotel »

Service is great. Hot breakfast has lots of choices. Staff are friendly. Room is clean especially it has small kitchen with all the utensils even wash soap for plates. Had an excellent stay last weekend. Room is quiet. Location is good. Very easy to go to Parliament Hills and Nature museum and Rideau Shopping Centre.

    4
    « Short Stay »

This hotel is in a very good location of downtown Ottawa with easy accessibility to virtually every part of Ottawa. The hotel is cute with very good decor. The room is very comfortable, the hotel staff are very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is great.

    5
    « A pleasure stay »

It was a short stop on our way to Quebec to experience Ottawa, the hotel was very clean, quiet, staffs were extremely helpful even with information to tour Ottawa, they even upgrade me to a bigger room on my stay when we came back from Quebec. Will definitely come back

    5
« Well equipped hotel with upstanding service »

Hotel was a great basic suites hotel. Clean, great location, comfortable and with friendly helpful service. But it how they reacted when things went wrong, that tell you a lot of good things about this hotel. After a very comfortable stay, my wife and I packed up and head back to Toronto--inadvertently leaving behind our electric toothbrushes. Realizing this, I called the next day to inquire about getting them couriered back to us. I left a message and got a call back. It turns out our toothbrushes had been thrown out by housekeeping. There were not just any electric toothbrushes, however. Mine was an expensive ultrasonic one I purchased from my dentist. I was speechless. The person who called me bashfully apologized that this mistake had been made, and said he would speak to the general manager and call me back. He later called to say that we should buy new toothbrushes and send the hotel the bill. When I explained that my toothbrush was more than a little costly, he said that was fine--they wanted to make it right for us. I thought that was a pretty amazing resolution to a problem, without us asking for a thing. That's the kind of stand-up service that will have me looking to stay at their hotel again.

    4
« Comfortable Room with Great Service »

The service at this hotel was excellent. I was traveling for the first time with my little guy and they made sure there was a crib in the room and had a cute welcome gift of toys and books for him. The location of this hotel is perfect and the price was a good deal.

    4
    « A good deal in Ottawa »

Stayed for two nights to attend a family event in the City. Room was well equipped ans super clean. Not a terrific view, but OK. Comfortable beds, friendly staff. The continental break fast included was surprisingly good, with lots of choices, fresh warm foods and a good coffee selection too! We would go again as it was a good base for spending time in Ottawa.

    4
    « Very Nice »

The best location in town and very nice view from the room and clean, nice and Professional stuff, scend time i was visit this hotel, the food was very delicious . I was enjoy in this visit . Thanks ????????????????????????????????????

« Perfect spot in Ottawa »

Very comfortable and clean hotel. Walking distance to same great food and pubs. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The pillow menu is just awesome! The rooms are very well laid out and quiet. All in all....a great place to stay!

    5
    « Awesome Stay »

The staff were so nice and helpful. Staff are happy to work there. One staff member (young girl) spoke French and English all in one paragraph. Impressive! Breakfast was awesome each day that we stayed at. Lots of variety for Breakfast and Best Western cares about people with certain food allergies and has a variety of food. Underground Parking is very small and hard to get around with a big vehicle. Very impressed with the Uber Travel service we rec'd in Ottawa.

    5
    « Great place »

We had an awesome stay at the Best Western downtown. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were great. Lots of places to eat within walking distance. The Museum of Nature is just a short walk. Would highly recommend.

  • 3
« Nice but there are cheaper »

Spent a weekend there in February. Check-in was super slow. Underground parking is extra and not made for pickup trucks. Breakfast is ok and plenty of space to sit. Rooms were nice. Street parking is limited and also expensive. However, if you are attending the Museum of Nature, it's across the street!

    5
    « Night out »

My wife and I stayed at the Best Western in downtown ottawa. I have to say we were more than pleased with the accommodations (cost and comfort). We had reserved a queen room but when we arrived we were upgraded to a queen suite. It was very clean and comfortable and we liked the fact there was actual cutlery, plates and cups. Also the hospitality binder in the room was a great item for the amenities in the downtown area (from bank machines, local attractions, restaurants, hotel amenities etc.). They also had an onsight underground monitored parking lot at a fee. The front desk service was excellent, and the free hot breakfast (with Gluten Options) the next morning was a great touch. The only issue we had was the phone didn't work for us when we tried to make a local xall for food, but that's what our cell phones are for. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in the ottawa region and if the opportunity arises we will be staying at the Best Western again for our next outing.

« Best Western Plus Ottawa Downtown Suites is an Excellent Choice! »

I really liked this hotel. Very accommodating staff and comfortable rooms. What really makes this hotel an excellent choice is that they think of things to enhance your stay that you don't even consider.

    4
« Great Stay at Best Western Plus Ottawa Downtown Suites »

The hotel staff was friendly and welcoming. Room staff were very efficient and unobtrusive. Hotel was very clean and quiet. Continental breakfast consisted of omelets, sausage meat, cereals, yogurts, breads, beverages and was actually quite good. Overall, a great stay!

    5
« Great location and comfortable rooms »

I visited Ottawa for work and I wanted to experience the city during my down time. The Best Western Plus Downtown was awesome! Parliament is a quick 10 minute walk and I was able to experience some Winterlude activities within walking distance. The front desk staff were very helpful and recommended places to visit. Elgin Street is two streets over and has so many fantastic restaurants to choose from. CF Rideau is a great shopping mall that is a 10 minute walk. Beds were comfy, breakfast was good, staff were friendly and location was fabulous! Would definitely stay again.

    5
« Everything you could ask for! »

Friendly staff, great accommodations, yummy and healthy breakfast, lemon water in the foyer and all you need for coffee and tea in the room! What more could you ask for at a reasonable price as well? Within walking distance to all Ottawa has to offer as well! Magnifico! I am happy and very satisfied with this hotel. Thank you BWPOD! :-)

    5
    « clean and comfortable »

Nice hotel, room was very clean and comfortable. Location was fine and very walkable to everything downtown. Parking very handy under hotel. Breakfast was more than ample. You are a few blocks from Rideau Canal if you wish to skate, also very to Natural History Museum. Restaurants on Elgin and Banks Street close by.

    3
« Great hotel, bad breakfast »

The hotel, rooms and service were fantastic, but the breakfast was quite disappointing. Paper plates, plastic knives and forks... not sure how they can call themselves a 'green hotel' when three quarters of the guests just bin their plates and cutlery every sitting. The food at breakfast wasn't great either, it was very processed and wasn't fresh. The breakfast really let the hotel down otherwise the hotel was very good. (Internet speeds could have been better, 5Mb/s down and 6Mb/s up)

    3
    « Good Hotel, But... »

I have stayed at this hotel in 2015. Since then things have become not as great. The check-in staff try to sell you the hotels nightly underground parking for $22.50 CDN. They do not give you any other options for parking unless you pursue the topic. On the weekends, street parking is free (as long as you don't get plowed in). They also have a parking lot across the road for $12 per night. I had the Queen Suite with pull out sofa and nice kitchenette (well equipped). The washrooms are big and the water is hot. The drain in the tub actually did not back up and drained the water well so it did not puddle around your feet! Could not find where they kept the blankets for the pull out sofa bed. Called front desk and the fellow brings one blanket, then asked him for another one, and he becomes upset, and yells from down the hall if I need anything else. The Queen bed was somewhat uncomfortable, lumpy mattress and the pillow cases were smaller than the pillows! I was too tried by then and did not call the guy again. Breakfast was ok, and they had paper disposable plates, plastic utensils. I was expecting a little more class in the hotel service. Hotel is close to most things in Ottawa, but I am not sure I would stay there again.

    4
« Best Western Plus Perfectly Provided a great stay »

We chose the BW on O'Connor in downtown Ottawa because of it's location and found that it was also a great place to stay because of the people and service; we were welcomed warmly and provided with all the 'local knowledge' we required. Our wedding party on Bank Street that night was very easy to get to, and as it turned out so was our brunch choice (The Elgin St, Diner) The room was bright and clean with everything we needed. This was a great place to stay, and when we return, this will be our 'Go To' spot.

  • 5
« Amazing at home for 3 days! »

If I had to leave home and stay anywhere, it would the Best Western in Ottawa, CA. Immediately walking through the door I was greeted by the staff with a smile and supportive of request. The room was clean and had a wonderful 7th floor. Check out in early morning was just as nice and courteous as the check in.

    5
« Great location, friendly staff! »

Well located hotel to downtown. Underground parking was great and easy to access. The room was clean, bright and comfortable. It would be nice to have some body lotion and a shower cap in the bathroom.

    5
« Good location & value for monday »

We stayed here for a 2 nights in Ottawa. Everything is walking distance and also a short cab ride from the bus station. Room is a good size. Amenities are complete. Reception is helpful. Breakfast is also substantial with good coffee. Overall it was a good stay.

    4
« Nice hotel missing some things »

I stayed in the hotel during winterlude the hotel was extremely busy. The hotel has parking in 2 places first us under the hotel for vehicles under 6 feet in height and the hotel charges you an extra $12 per vehicle per night. The second spot is about 2-3 blocks away in a outside lot. Or you can park on the streets of Ottawa if you can find one? The free breakfast buffet was quite good eggs sausage one day eggs and ham the next I'm told they do bacon as well. Coffee and tea lots of choices and fresh fruit and yogurts and cereals as well. Very nice and clean. There is only 1 ice machine in the hotel and it's in the clean laundry room. I was disappointed to find out that the place had no pool. But it has a gym and a sauna. My room was a king suite so I had the comfort of a room attached to a living room with a queen pull out bed. Well maintained. Pillows and mattress were comfortable as well a the nice quilt. Our bathroom was cold no heating or heat lamp but it was modern with a jacuzzi tub which I couldn't use because no handicap bars to help me up and out. So I muddled my way into the high tub for a shower. Over all the staff were really friendly and remembered my name which was impressive. I would rate the hotel over all missing a couple of things a 7-10 overall. Paying for parking that wasn't mentioned when I booked and no pool! For sure in a big city hotel kills its rating. Plus lack of handicap things like auto doors to the underground garage for the wheel chair acccesable would be handy. But still a nice atmosphere for a family wanting to see stuff downtown Ottawa.

    4
    « Good value »

If you're looking for friendly professional staff, spacious, comfortable and clean rooms/suites this is a great choice. Good location to downtown and the Queensway. Breakfast included. Underground parking available for extra fee.

    5
    « Top Rate »

Location is great. Very close the the Museum of Nature and several great resteraunts. Underground parking is great. The check in was painless. We were upgraded to a suite due to our gold status I guess. The suite was very nice: living room kitchenette, large bathroom and a completely seperate room for the bedroom. Breakfast was good; typical Best Western fare. Check out was quick and easy.

    4
« Great location, very nice room »

Great location, the room was very nice and the little kitchenette was handy. The bathroom could use a bigger vanity, but overall I enjoyed my stay. We had issues getting a taxi but that isn't the hotel's fault.

    5
    « Ottawa visit »

This hotel is nicely located to get around the city for sights and restaurants. The staff was quite friendly, rooms very clean, parking on site, and reasonably priced. We would definitely stay there again.

    5
« Great stay in downtown Ottawa »

The room was spacious and very clean and well-equipped. The bed was very comfortable. The room contained a fridge and microwave. It was very close to restaurants on Elgin Street and close to the building where my meetings took place. The hotel offered a continental breakfast, as well. There were plenty of options.

    4
« Average accommodations for reasonable price »

Stayed for 2 nights in a queen suite. Room was clean and comfortable. We were on the 7th floor (room 714) and were woken up by a constant thumping and balls bouncing above us at 6:00 am both days. Apparently the fitness room is on the 8th floor... right above our room. I wish now I would have asked to be moved after the first night. I reported this to the front desk upon checkout but the response was ?they would make a note of it?. I wasn't expecting anything but I'm sure I'm not the first to complain about the noise. Honestly why is the fitness room above the suites?! Other things to consider is that the hotel does not have a restaurant or lounge to relax in which we found disappointing after a long drive. The complimentary breakfast is just average. Would we return.. probably not

    « great trip!! »

Hotel was great, convenient location and the staff was amazing. A couple of minor mix-ups which were dealt with quickly and with a smile. Will definitely stay again. The Ottawa location is a very welcome place to stay.

    « Week of Jan 15, 2018 »

The room was clean. There was a mini kitchenette that was handy. It included a microwave, fridge and dishes. The hotel was close to the canal for skating, variety of restaurants around the hotel, safe for walking in the evening. A small but decent fitness room. Full breakfast in a.m.. I will stay there again in the near future.

    « Overnight stay »

We are used to stay at this hotel when in Ottawa The location is very cinvenient The room is comfortable The staff are welcoming and helpful Such that we do not think of going somewhere else when in Ottawa

    « An Ottawa gem!! »

Although I travel to the NCR on a regular basis, this is the first time that I've stayed at this Best Western however it will not be my last. The room was spacious and nicely decorated, the bathroom/shower was spacious and neat and the kitchenette was a very nice added pleasantry. Underground parking was adequate for a full-sized 4WD pickup and was very easily accessible, heated and well lit with easy access to the elevators. An all around win if you need to stay in the nations capitol...

    5
« Great place in a great location »

We couldn't pick up a better place to stay for the things we wanted to do. Hotel is situated across the street from an awesome Museum of Nature and a walking distance from downtown and, what was most important for us, only 25 minutes walk from a House of Targ. The room was spacious, bed very comfortable, kitchenette was an awesome added bonus. People working in a front office were very friendly, professional and helpful. The only small minus is the situation with no free parking - and we had to choose between cheaper outdoor parking couple blocks away or more expensive, but more convinient, underground parking ($25/night). The choice was quite simple in a middle of winter ;)

    4
« Great location but parking is a ripoff »

For the price of the hotel, it is decent looking place in a great location. Ive stayed at best Westerns before, however, this one I was required to pay for parking... 21$ for one night!!!!!!!! I found it a little exaggerating, usually hotels (and the other best westerns Ive stayed at) do not charge parking for their guests. The room was clean and nice, and the breakfast (included!) was great too. They had pretty much everything and dairy-free milk too!!! :D

    5
    « A really great stay »

Hi arrived at this hotel late at night after a long business day on the road and this place was exactly what I needed. An extremely friendly staff, very clean rooms, easy access to restaurants, super breakfast...you can really tell management does an excellent job I look forward to my next trip in Ottawa to stay at this hotel

« WELCOMING, COMFY AND ACCOMODATIVE »

A one night stay was made memorable by helpful and friendly front office desk; a well equipped room with all conviniences; a comfortable bed and accomodative staff who accorded me late check out services without a do. Centrally located to access business and leisure attractions in Ottawa

I enjoyed the staff and breakfast. I have staying in quite a few Best Westerns and this one was very reasonable and clean -exceeded expectations. lots of pillows and kitchenette in room there was a fired alarm that I sleep through -so I felt safe.

« Great Hotel for Downtown Ottawa »

This hotel is a very nice and comfortable place to stay. The staff are courteous and friendly. The rooms are comfortably furnished. I appreciated having underground parking. Some of the best restaurants Ottawa has to offer are a very short walk away. The only small criticism I have is the breakfast buffet. It is mediocre at best. However, on the other hand, it is the same as any other chain hotel. It is included in the price of the room, so what can one expect. I highly recommend this hotel. It is close to everything and reasonably priced.

Holiday season with friends to spend New Years with friends. I don't think I should have to write an essay here to finish this time consuming essay. I like to give quick concise answers. I feel irritated

This hotel is right in the downtown area of Ottawa. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped for business travellers. Has a great breakfast that is included. All of the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful.

« Freindly and Modern Hotel »

This appeared to be a new hotel which is located near the highway but is still walking distance to the heart of downtown. Despite this there are many restaurants and bars in the immediate area and it is a block away from transit. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was a good size with a large comfortable bed. Room amenities incl8uded a small fridge, microwave and individual serving coffee-maker. The breakfast room was large enough so no trouble finding a place to sit in the morning. There was a good selection of hot and cold items which were replenished regularly and it was clean. A mini-store is located right next to the main desk with snacks and light meals (microwavable) which is nice.

« There are better places around »

Included breakfast is the same everyday and nothing to write home about. Not that close to downtown core but the cost for parking is almost as expensive. If you have a vehicle, there is a much better hotel that is outside of the downtown core with excellent breakfast and free underground parking. I felt like they did me a favour letting staying at their hotel. This is the worst Best Western location I have been to. However it is the first since they changed their logos.

    « Pleasent/Amazing Downtown Hotel »

Very nice, clean hotel right Downtown. 15min walk to Parliment Hill and 20min walk to Byward. Close to many restaurants. Room was a suite, and all amenities worked, as it was -20C outside, our room was nice , clean and warm. Nice touch was the shoe tray to place your wet shoes/boots. The provided breakfast has cold and warm choices along with coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Breakfast did not leave me hungry. 2 minor negatives, the shower control was difficult to establish and maintain a constant temperature and parking is limited onsite otherwise, offsite with both at an additional charge. The charge is reasonable but nonethe less a negative. Staff, in a word, AMAZING!!!! Will stay here again

    « Great Location »

Could walk anywhere from Parliament to Lansdowne. Very close to both Bank St and Elgin St. Very safe garage parking. Super friendly and helpful staff on site. Showers need work though... the temp would never stabilize. I either melted my skin, or hung ice cubes from my armpits! Beds and pillows were very comfy and everything was clean. Mini-kitches with fridge, microwave, kuerig coffee and dishes included! Free Sauna and Gym on the 8th floor!

« Good Breakfast and friendly staff. »

This place was great! Very clean, good breakfast, comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. I came in quite late (past midnight) and had no problem over the 6 days I was there. The suite was clean and quite large. It was a really great experience. Thanks!

« Second time and not the last! »

Great all around! Service, room (clean, new, nice mattress, etc.), location, breakfast. It's a full continental breakfast! We're gluten free and we had plenty. Also, fast check-in and check-out. Like I said, great all around!

« A very friendly and comfortable hotel »

This is a very friendly and comfortable hotel with basic amenities. The room was well appointed with attention to detail and worked reasonably well for my business trip. Free wifi and breakfast are positives. The room was quiet on the 8th floor. There was, however, a slight musty odour which seemed to come from the furniture in my room. The workout room is very small. It is not very close to restaurants.

    « Great stay »

We stayed at this location and we were totally happy with the rooms and the location. The service was great and the staff were very friendly We tried a breakfast place called canopy road across from the hotel and we thank the management for the recommendation

« Clean, comfortable, central location, free breakfast »

The beds are comfortable, the rooms clean, and the location close enough to downtown to walk but far enough to enjoy some green space nearby, at the Museum of Nature and the canal. Parking $20 underground overnight, but breakfast free.

    « "Gold" »

The Best Western Suites on O'Connor at Gladstone is "Gold". All staff were exceptional. To give you an idea, I wasn't sure if my 1/2 ton truck would fit in underground parking. One of the desk receptionist (Jessica) jumped into her parka, attended the front gate and gave me hand signs to the height limit where she indicated it would fit. You godda like that! As well a local restaurant (St Louis) provided wings and ribs free to guests. What a way to start off Grey Cup Weekend. Our room attendant was terrific and had to be on her toes with the traffic that came and went. Breakfast (free) included, the usual breakfast things, coffee, tea, toast jam etc but also included cheese omelettes, slices of ham and sausage! Outstanding for sure. On weekend Breakfast went 1100 hrs. Did I mention Grey Cup Weekend, so late breakfast was a definite bonus. This weekend was "Gold" to my family, and it started out with great accommodations

    5
    « Excellent accomadation »

The rooms were spacious with comfortable bedding. Small kitchenette would have been handy if having an extended stay. The staff were the friendliest and most helpful we encountered on our 5 week holiday through Canada and the USA. The buffet breakfast was a plus, really good to be able to eat a'basic homestyle' breakfast. Even though it was pouring rain the 3 days we spent in Ottawa, the hotel was situated near a bus stop and was within a good walking distance of variety of excellent eateries.

    4
    « AWESOME Staff »

The Hotel staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly Interaction with our group was always professional but with a 'home town attitude' which made the extended stay very satisfying. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys a short walk to many amenities and many sights.

    4
    « Grey cup week »

This hotel was very quiet for Grey cup weekend. The hotel is in a central location for downtown amenities and sporting events. It was a short walk to city transit. It is a short walk to landsdowne park.

« My Stay in Ottawa, at Best Western Plus Downtown »

I just love this hotel. It's in a great location close to downtown and to everything that I need. Anything I need I can walk to it. The staff are great, the rooms are clean and excellent and have everything that I need. The free breakfast is good too.

« Nice to be away from the tourist drag, close to interesting restaurants on Elgin & Bank Sts. »

We were visiting our son at Carleton and were happy to be in a more residential neighbourhood with good restaurants nearby. We've seen a lot of the sights so it didn't matter to us that we were further from the Parliament buildings and all that. Museum of Nature practically next door has an interesting new exhibit on the Arctic. Street parking was free on the weekend although it took a while to find a spot.

« Great Staff and Location »

We were visiting from Vancouver for a conference but I have to say as soon as we walked in we were greeted with a huge smile from Tyler. Sheri has got to be one of my favorite front desk agent, always willing to help and a smile on her face. We love the location because it's just two blocks from Elgin street were there lots of pubs, bars and restaurants. The only negative was the internet, it was so slow. I had to use my data most of the time I was here.

« Very grateful for the experience. »

All their care and service to detail makes it a hotel to stay at. The room was finely decorated and was very comfortable to stay in. The amenenties in the room are very functional and modern. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to ones requests. Thank you.

« Good Location for Family Stay »

A bit off the main drag but a manageable walk to Parliament, Rideau Centre and the Byward Market. Next door to the Museum of Natural History. Rooms are clean and comfortable with refrigerator and microwave for your own snacks. In room coffee is good. Breakfast buffet is convenient and has a pretty decent selection.

    5
« Wonderful comfortable welcoming hotel »

Lovely hotel, quiet and clean with friendly staff. We had a suite. The King bedroom was separate and very comfortable with a variety of pillow types to choose from. There was a small living room with a kitchen type area with sink and coffee maker, some cutlery and glasses. It was a promotion and a very good deal which included a $75.00 gift card at a local restaurant and one nights parking included.

    3
« Good alternative location to the more expensive centre of town... »

...if you don't mind a 15-20 minute walk to the Parliament Hill area and a 30 minute walk to the Byward Market. As with most BW hotels, there is no restaurant or bar but Elgin Street, 2 blocks away, has many casual pubs and eateries. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was large, clean and well appointed. The added touch of a microwave and good sized small fridge was interesting. I appreciated that the windows opened which we needed as the room was uncomfortably hot as were the corridors. This was the only way we could get the temp down but then we're subject to the street noise, including the late night revellers going from from Elgin Street. So not the best sleep, even though beds, linens and pillows were very comfy. Also appreciated the larger than normal bathroom towels, and they did not skimp on quantity! Just missed breakfast but it looked like the usual BW continental offering. Underground parking is available but I found as a guest overpriced...$20 plus, plus tax, for an overnight and less than 24 hours. That adds up quickly if you are staying longer. But overall reasonable value for location.

« A great spot to stay and Excellent Quality »

A great spot to stay and Excellent Quality. Has interior parking which is great for winter and very well located relative to highways. Rooms are spacious and clean, staff is great and breakfast is included.

« Great location with excellent staff. Secure parking on site. »

Really enjoyed my stay here. The staff at this location are excellent. the location of the hotel is right off the main arteries which is perfect. Parking, although you have to pay for it, is very secure and heated! Rooms are very comfortable, more mid range than budget and very good quality bedding. The only thing i would be able to suggest is a bigger dining hall for breakfast as it does get a bit crowded. That aside, the breakfast was quite good and staff is on top of things to make sure food does not run out.

A very good location in downtown Ottawa, less than 10 minutes walk to the major tourist attractions. Staff is very competent, efficient and friendly! Their continental breakfast has a lot of varieties. During rush hour in the morning it can be a bit crowded. Overall, good value for money!

« I have stayed in a lot of Best Westerns and this is certainly one of the nicest, especially the breakfast area. »

I came for business, landed at 2am and the staff opened up right away - the door was locked which was ok with me - and I settled in. The breakfast room was very nice, the options were great, and the hours good. I was close to everything I wanted or needed to do in Ottawa. It was great.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Ottawa Downtown Suites, to attend a wedding at the Canadian Museum of Nature. We could not have asked for a hotel closer to the wedding venu. Also to leave and get back on the hwy was very quick and easy. The room was very clean, wifi good breakfast good, and in all the hotel served us well. I could recommend this hotel for sure.

« Good value a few blocks away from beaten path »

Enjoyed our recent stay at this "Suites" Best Western, although "suite" is a bit of a stretch, at least based on the room we had. Yes, it had a small kitchenette with a microwave, cupboard and some dishes but it was in the hall between the bathroom and the room itself so too compact for me to really call it a "suite". Nonetheless, we knew this when I booked it and weren't going to use it anyway, so no problem (just wouldn't want others to be disappointed). The hotel itself is priced competitively based on the rates I was getting from others downtown that I had previously stayed at and it did include a breakfast. The room itself was pretty standard, but decently appointed with a comfortable bed and lots of pillows. The bathroom was rather small and there is not a lot of room to put your things down (1 person maybe, but not for the two of us!), however, it looked like it had recently been updated so we liked that. Contrary to some other comments, we found the wi-fi to be easily accessed and quite fast. The HVAC unit was a little noisy (couldn't seem to control the fan?) and since we were on the 7th floor, there was no noise from outside. Inside was pretty quiet but I'm a light sleeper and we did hear people leaving their rooms across the hall very early the next morning so that was unfortunate. Breakfast was your typical "breakfast included" option in a busy sit-down area off the lobby that was heavily used when we were there. There was really plenty of choice with juices, cereals, yogurt, fruit salad, pastries, good coffee and some hot choices we didn't opt for. Nothing was outstanding but everything was good and it did the trick. There were two attendants on duty keeping everything replenished and keeping the food area and tables tidy which was much appreciated. Paper plates and plastic utensils (sigh) but china coffee cups (yay!). The hotel parking is certainly convenient but the underground garage is not spacious and I'm glad I was only driving a mid-size sedan. It also looks like the number of spaces is limited so if planning to park there, you might want to make sure you've got a spot in advance. We are walkers so from this location we were within a 7-10 minute walk from lots of good restaurants and shops. On our evening out, we walked from the hotel to a very good restaurant (Town) for dinner (7 minutes) and then from there on foot to the National Arts Centre (an additional 15-20 minute walk). Not as conveniently located as some hotels but not nearly as expensive either! The next day we drove the short distance the National Gallery of Canada and found reasonably priced parking at the Cathedral just across the street. Finally, all the staff were friendly and professional in all encounters. The people working the front desk in particular were really well-trained and a pleasure to interact with. As a group, I'd say they made our stay that much more enjoyable!

« Decent property with nice amenities »

I was going to be in Ottawa for work, and the company put us up at the Best Western Plus Ottawa. It is the first time I have ever stayed at a Best Western Plus so I was not sure what to expect. The hotel is located on the edge of downtown near the Canadian Museum of Nature, and is a 15-20 minute walking distance to many areas. When you enter the hotel lobby, in front is the large check-in desk while to left is a small sitting area. Free water is provided in the lobby (which is a nice gesture). Further into the hotel, after the check-in desks, is the sitting area and where the free breakfast is provided. Continuing ahead are barstool desks which provide nice work spaces as they have electrical ports on the desks (a nice touch). In this hallway are also where the elevators are located, access to the meeting rooms, as well as rooms on the first floor. Check-in was relatively quick, I received my key as well as access code to the wifi, and took the elevators to my room. I had never stayed at a Best Western nor Best Western Plus, so was not sure what to expect the room to look like. When I entered, it looked like a standard hotel room. You enter the room into a hallway. On the left is the wall to the adjacent room, while on the right is the bathroom. The bathroom had a tub, a toilet, and a sink with some counter space behind the toilet. The bathroom was a decent size and it was stocked with lots of towels (another plus point). Continuing along the hallway, also on the right hand side was a kitchenette. This contained a counter with a small sink and a coffee maker on the counter. There were cabinets above the sink as well as a microwave, and below there were additional cabinets and a refrigerator. Both amenities were nice to have, but it would also have been nice to have some forks, knives, and/or plates to go along. Further into the room, on the left was a chest with drawers on the bottom and a TV on top. Continuing along the wall was a desk. The desk was large enough to provide a good working space, and the desk contained the lan internet connection as well as outlets on the lap (which only worked when the lamp was on). Next to the desk was the window which looked out onto the city. Against the other side of the wall were the two beds. This room had two double beds with a nightstand in the middle. The beds were high and provided a decent nights sleep; the only negative were that there lots of pillows on the bed (I counted 6 on one bed). One bed was closer to the window while the second bed was closer to the bathroom. The bed next to the bathroom had an outlet on the other side (which was convenient, but only one plug worked) and there was also access to the closet. The closet was located in a nook behind the kitchenette. It was an odd location because it faced the bed so really only one person would have access to the closet. The closet contained a safe, an iron and ironing board. Overall, the room was decent - not spacious and not cramped. The decor was a bit outdated but looked nice enough. Amenities in the hotel included a fitness center with a sauna (which I was told was very nice), meeting rooms, work spaces (which were a nice addition and which had power outlets), free wifi (which was decent but a bit inconsistent), and complimentary breakfast. Breakfast was served in the lobby and there were a variety of mostly cold items. There were some hot and fresh items available, but it was the standard complimentary breakfast (similar to what other major chains - HI Express, Hampton, etc - have provided). As I stated, it was my first experience at a Best Western. Going into it, I was not sure what to expect and having stayed here I am not sure what the difference was. The hotel was a standard hotel room with some additional amenities. The additional amenities are welcomed by the guest and that makes for a decent stay.

    « Excellent Value »

This is a very clean hotel, good size room, quick internet, comfy beds, pillows and linens. It is a ten to fifteen minute walk to Parliament Hill, ByWard Market and major landmarks. Nice morning breakfast, respectful and caring staff. I would definitely stay here again.

    2
« Horrible Wifi and Food »

The room was alright. If your staying here plan to have breakfast somewhere else such as Wilf & Adas, Tim Horton's or Starbucks within walking distance. The continental breaks was all canned food and made me feel sick. I watch others eating in the lounge and most would not touch some of the items on their plate. The wifi sucked. I kept loosing the connection and when it worked it was extremely slow. It took me about 30 minutes just to send out a business email. You cannot stream a YouTube at all. The staff was nice and friendly.

    4
    « Pleasant stay »

We had a very pleasant stay, with friendly staff, a clean room, comfortable bed and a varied selection available at breakfast. Even though the hotel is located in a residential area, many restaurants and pubs were near by. We would definitely choose this hotel again.

    5
« Clean, convenient and cosy »

My husband and I spent four nights at the Best Western in October. We loved the location because we were able to walk to our favorite attractions, restaurants, the Rideau Canal and the Parliament buildings. The breakfasts choices were diverse and we started each day with a balanced meal.

    4
    « Nice Stay »

We had a great stay at the Best Western, staff are very friendly and helpful. The service was great and the breakfast was fantastic for a continental. The hotel is close to a bunch of resturants on Elgin, which was a nice place to grab dinner, but is about a 20-30 minute walk to Parliment and about a 30-40 minute walk to Byward Market. However, the rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable, I just wouldn't suggest it for someone who does not like to walk a lot.

    4
    « Ottawa weekend »

This hotel was excellent value. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful providing directions and scissors for a clothing issue The room was really nice and, I don't know if it was an accident, but my room was right next to my brother's room. The location, a short walk from downtown and a block or two away from the highway, was the best. I plan to come back with my daughter in Spring.

« The hotel was a great hotel there was one problem thoguh »

The expirence in the hotel was great. We were on the 21st floor overlooking the view of the great city. There was one problem at 2am in the morning our toilet broke but it sounded like an alarm it woke my whole family up and kind of us made us tired for the rest of our stay

    5
« Great short stay in Ottawa »

Excellent mid priced hotel. Great staff, comfortable rooms, good breakfast ....and can walk to almost all Ottawa downtown attractions...only stayed one night but I was impressed enough that I will return whenever I am in the area...

    3
    « Basically ok, pleasant »

Front entryway clear but cramped, often not easy to access because much of the time it is congested with cabs in the small pickup/drop-off area in front. There is no parking directly in front of the building. Narrow but accessible entrance to the garage is often blocked by a cab, as is the pedestrian entrance, otherwise comfortably accessible. Idling or parked cabs are routinely shooed away, and return just as routinely. Actual pickup/drop-off is sometimes difficult for this reason. Otherwise, this larger boutique style hotel is pleasant, clean, modern, well located for walking access to Elgin Street and all the main attractions in Ottawa, including the university of Ottawa, just a few blocks away across the Rideau Canal. Breakfast is included and it's very good. The staff are friendly, and non-confrontational--they do not wish to disappoint. Thus, our intermittent hot water supply was always in the process of repair, when the real problem appeared to be a (design flaw?) lack of capacity to supply hot water to the rooms at the end of the corridor during peak hour demand. Management does pay attention to lodgers, and does try to make visible efforts to soothe patrons and make amends, but apparently nothing operational changes. These issues were not deal-breakers, though annoying. We did have hot water off-peak, and sometimes travel is all about being flexible and dealing with the unexpected.

    4
« All that you need. »

The hotel has a good location downtown a few minutes walk from the popular Elgin Street with its many bars and entertainment. The rooms are spacious and have all you need, although our view, of a small yard and concrete wall was not the best. The hotel offers underground parking at $17c a day, maybe a bit steep but what can you do. You have continental breakfast included and there is much to choose from although the breakfast room can get quite hectic. My only gripe would be why paper plates and plastic cutlery, it's so bad these days and it is virtually useless for cutting. Friendly staff and easy to find and get to.

    « Outstanding budget option »

Am a frequent business traveller to Ottawa, but first time staying at the Best Western. I must say I am really pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the stay. I usually stay at business hotels closer to the Hill. Booked this trip late and my usual options were all full or going for ~$400, which I could not justify spending. I was not keen on staying this ?far? out, which I realized later I was just being precious (especially since I once lived in the Glebe and walked to work in the winter). Of course, the nice weather helped remind me that it is really just a short pleasant stroll up to the Hill. But what really won me over was the room. The exterior and the common area of the hotel are typical budget hotel feel, but the room is quite a bit better. The suite was very spacious, bright, modern and well maintained, essentially comparable to any four-star hotel in Centretown. It truly does not feel like a budget hotel inside the room, I have stayed at ?upscale? hotel in Ottawa that feel dingier. The complementary hotel breakfast was quite a surprising feast, with a good selection of both cold and hot food. Overall, a very nice stay.

    « Hotel Review »

The hotel is great and the rooms are kept very clean, as I snore we always need a separate bed in another room and the room we had gave us that in a pull out which was very comfy, my only criticism would be the breakfast which is very basic, the plates are paper and the cutlery is plastic so I'm glad that was included in the price and I wasn't paying extra, however only streets away is Elgin street there are some nice cafes and restaurants. I would also recommend a car to get about as there is very little close by other than the museum of nature which is next door to the hotel and definitely worth going to.

    4
    « Good location »

great spot for business in Ottawa. Parking is very tight and expensive - was surprised at how much we were being charged. Also did not expect the 'marketing charge' of 3% on our bill - every hotel adds it. room was very good, bed very good, great pillow selection. would suggest changing breakfast buffet start time to 6am. overall a good spot.

« Excellent value and location »

This hotel is our go to hotel anytime we are in Ottawa. It is centrally located near the restaurants on Elgin and within walking distance of both the parliament buildings and TD Place. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. It is clean and well maintained and reasonably priced

    5
    « Great Location »

This hotel was 2.5 minutes from the Ottawa Curling Club where my daughter was attending a camp. This was very convenient for her and its close proximity to Parliament was good for me as well. The beds were very comfortable and having a refrigerator and microwave in the room was very nice.

« Great Location and Professional Staff »

Very impressed with this hotel. The rooms were clean and well appointed. All staff whom I encountered were very friendly, always smiling and most professional. This hotel was quiet in the night. Beds were pretty comfy as well. There is no restaurant at this hotel. That said, Elgin Street is a 4 min walk away, where many eating choices exist. Excellent stay at this Best Western. Compliments to the Management and Staff! Well done! Recommend. Enjoy!

    5
    « Quiet safe comfort »

This hotel should be commended particularly for the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. One feels completely safe here! The hotel is quiet with good soundproofing between rooms and the outside. My suite was spacious and well equipped ( although there are never enough electrical outlets for all our electronic devices!). There are sufficient elevators to provide prompt service. Breakfast is excellent with a full variety of food..

    3
    « ok if work/meeting is nearby »

hotel is old, if people say something in the hall near your room you hear it, the room lacks electrical outlets (nowhere to charge 2 iPhones), the wifi didn't work and most modern technology was substandard BUT the rooms are clean, the location is good and the price was reasonable for the area.

    5
« Great hotel to stay at »

The continental breakfast was great, so many choices! The location was a bit further away from downtown than other hotels, but I preferred not being right in the heart of the city, but still in walking distance. I asked for a late check-out as I had an interview the next day and the employees were very accommodating. My room was clean and provided everything I needed, and it was great having a mini-kitchen. I also liked having having indoor parking. The parking spots are tight, but no issues at all with my car.

« Clean, Comfortable, and Close to Downtown »

Clean and well kept common areas and individual rooms. Although my room overlooked the street, I did not notice any street noise. No issues with room or hotel in general. Staff on the reception desk may be new and require more training. On checking in the room reservation had a $20 parking charge printed on it, although I was on foot and had no vehicle. I pointed this out to the reception clerk and he stroked through the charge on the paper copy. He then gave me the electronic keys to the room. After about 5 minutes I went to the room and neither of the two keys would open the lock. So I returned to the front desk, with all my bags, and had the cards re-keyed. This time they operated the lock correctly. At check out the desk clerk asked if everything was fine and said that they would forward the final invoice via email. Normally I insist on a paper copy but for some reason this time I said okay. After a day came and went with no electronic receipt received, I emailed the hotel and within an hour they sent me an electronic invoice. Guess what was included in the invoice? The $20 parking charge. I emailed them again and told them that I had no vehicle, and that they should check the paper copy registration sheet on which the parking charge had been stroked out. I requested that my credit card be credited for the $20 and that they send me an updated invoice. Within 24 hours the credit card adjustment was made. It's 4 days now, and no sign of an updated invoice so I will let the matter drop and never again leave a hotel without a printed invoice. In summary, clean comfortable hotel in a good location, and reception staff are friendly, but not all that reliable in the basic administration of a guest.

« Great location and stay! »

Very clean and comfortable. Close to amenities and museum. Stayed there for a business meeting and the food (lunch) was excellent. Standard breakfast but did the trick! Would definitely stay here again. Having a kitchenette in the room with a fridge, microwave and dishes was a huge plus!!

« Canada Army Run weekend »

A perfect location for the Army Run. A grab and Go snack was provided, which was a perfect snack before the run. Really enjoyed the breakfast after the run. Have booked for next year and will add an extra night's stay.

« Comfortable, Accessible and Quality »

We have just returned from two nights at the BW Downtown Suites. I was very pleased with the service and quality of room for price. The breakfast was surprisingly good with a number of healthy options (most appreciate the plain oatmeal)! Our room was well appointed, the front desk staff very accommodating and helpful, and the amenities exactly what we needed. One suggestion is to get rid of the plastic cutlery in the breakfast area. If you are already washing coffee mugs there is absolutely no reason to generate the amount of waste with plastic and paper plates. Please consider making this a change as I cannot imagine the amount of waste that this generates. Overall, very pleased and would highly recommend.

The staff from the hotel was great, extremely polite. It was very clear to see that the manager of the hotel really inspired his team to create a genuine ?clients first? mindset. It was more than only well trained team, it was a clearly a staff committed to serve. The Hotel was very clean, the breakfast was also very good.

« Nice size rooms, a little out of city centre »

The room was large. Two queen beds with plenty of room. Free wifi, fridge no kettle in room. Hotel loction wise is fine if you have a car if not it is a good 15min drive out of the city centre. There is a direct bus that will take you in. Staff were friendly. Room had little noise from the road. Shower was a little difficult to turn on/off could be an issue if you have difficulty/minimal use of arms. Rooms have a/c though despite it being 30c outside we didn't need it on in the room.

    « Great customer service »

I was very impressed with this hotel, from the front desk staff to the great breakfast provided. We arrived at noon and a room and parking was available so we were able to check in immediately upon our arrival. Our room was very clean, comfortable and perfect for our one night stay. The hotel is well situated off the 417 and within walking distance to parliament. I will definitely return for my next stay in Ottawa and highly recommend this hotel.

    « Value for money »

We enjoyed having a spacious suite with a small kitchen area. The hotel provides a very full breakfast. There is no restaurant but there are many within walking distance.Staff were friendly and helpful. The exterior of the hotel is not that impressive but the interior is fine.

    « VGood »

Hotel rooms were very good- clean and well sized. Staff was nice. Breakfast was fine -- mostly cold things but a few rotating hot items (rather remade looking eggs/sausages/French toast). Wifi worked pretty well although at times was a bit slow. Overall a very nice hotel. Location was a 15 minute pleasant walk to parliament hill. Immediate vicinity has few shops but a nice cluster of restaurants just a few blocks away.

« Very good BW hotel »

One of the best BW experiences in my travel, one of the best Ottawa hotels, in our capital hotels tend to be on pricey side, but this one is excellent value for your money and every part of our visit there was amazing, also within walking distance to Parliament Hill

« Family Trip to Ottawa »

We enjoyed our visit to Ottawa. In future, I would stay closer to the Parliament. It is quite a hike to get there with kids. Hotel was acceptable, just too far from the Parliament. Parking could be improved so it was not so crammed. Breakfast was in a confined space and hectic.

    5
    « great little spot »

stayed here for 2 nights in august. it was a 2 room. queen bed in one and pullout in the other which was great for the kids. the rooms were clean, parking affordable and underground. we had no issues with breakfast like some others mentioned. it was busy in the breakfast lounge but they never ran out of food. the front desk staff were great in providing directions and even offered umbrellas for the rain. I would recommend anyone to stay here as it was priced reasonable for he area and a good quiet place to stay. come bed time we were wiped and didn't here any outside noise. we loved the fact you could open the door to gt fresh air into the room

« Warm welcome, comfortable and clean »

Hey, the location is great. Near Elgin Street and it was very lively the weekend we visited. We walked to the Notre Dame Cathedral area to catch our "hop-on, hop-off" tour which gave us a comprehensive view of beautiful Ottawa. Our "suite" was like an apartment - spacious, had many conveniences, it was quiet. Lovely. A kettle was sent up to our suite so I could have my tea. Bed was very comfortable and towels were plentiful. The breakfast (that was included) was just okay. I did like the raisin toast, though. Too bad the bowl of chopped fruit was so sugary. Parking in the underground ($21.00/night) was the better option vs. public parking on O'Connor Street that was too busy with foot traffic and vehicles zooming by. Would definitely stay here again.

    5
    « Terrific stay overall »

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff members were extremely helpful and provided great tips on local attractions. The included breakfast was very good and certainly convenient. Parking offered on site.

    « Very decent hotel »

Location not bad, breakfast was included, room is very clean, all their staffs are very polite, I pre-pay for 2 nights, there was some family emergency back home, can't stay the second night, they were so kind and only charged me for the first night. I will definitely go back to this hotel if I am in Ottawa again.

« Great place to stay »

We stayed here for a concert. The hotel entrance is clean and modern with marble. Flavoured water and fruit are there for your taking. The room was clean and everything was in working order. In the kitchenette part was a key rig with 4 k-cups, sugar and we got cream from the kitchen, mini fridge(one of the tall and wider ones), glasses, wine glasses, silverwear, plates, kitchen sink, recycle and garbage can, there is a safe in the full length closet, queen bed, mattress and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom has a hairdryer with 2 large white towels, faceclothes, bath mat and hand towels. There is Kleenex box with shampoo, conditioner sample. You can ask the maid for whatever and she can get it for you. It was a great stay for two nights, highly recommend

    « Great stay »

The rooms were large, clean, and well decorated. The hotel is very close to Elgin St (bars and restaurants), Highway 417, and Nature museum. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with recommendations for site seeing. Internet is slow.

    « High quality Hotel »

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel. Only complaint that I can think of is that we were not there long enough to really enjoy the beautiful suite. Thie bed was the most comfortable that I have ever slept in! It is a bit of a walk into downtown. Not bad for one day but would be too much if you were staying for several days. You can take the bus if necessary.

    4
« A fine hotel to stay in. »

The staff are friendly, courteous and have good senses of humour. The hotel is neat and clean and very pleasant. Within short walking distances are great places to eat. I would recommend staying here.

    « 2017 August Stay »

Back to this hotel after a year and this makes it our fourth visit to his hotel. This time we were in room 613, which is a room with the bed, kitchen etc in one room, and we really wanted one where the bedroom is separate; but as I was using points for this stay it seems this was the room we could only have. the room overlooks the corner of O'Connor Street and Gladstone Avenue. The room was it top class condition with no faults whatsoever. The only snag, again was the breakfast. It has not improved since 2015, and we did not use it after the first 'meal'. The choice was good, but the hot food was more luke warm, the omelette was unpalatable, and things were not so organized that you could find things easy, one had to ask, such as plates, knives and forks. But still we like this hotel, all it needs to do is improve its breakfast. It is in a good spot as it is close by some good eating places on both bank Street and Elgin Street. Staff were good. Even booked me another B.W. hotel in Niagara falls as we had to alter our travel plans. Will use this hotel again, but will skip breakfast unless it improves.

    5
    « Welcoming »

The stay was excellent but some of the breakfast foods were under cooked. Overall the room experience was fantastic. The location has on site underground parking but bigger vehicles may have issues maneuvering the tight spots. There is outdoor parking a block away. It is very close to museums and the downtown nightlife.

    5
« Would stay there again! »

This hotel is in a good location - within walking distance to Parliament Hill. It has easy access to the highway getting into and out of Ottawa. The room was a very good size and breakfast was varied.

« Clean, excellent breakfast*, very reasonable rates »

Overall we had a good experience at this location. The location is near Carlton University and thus very convenient for visiting the campus (be sure to ask your Carlton U. host for a possible special rate -- depends on the purpose of the trip). The room and bathroom were very clean. The breakfast option was excellent compared to other breakfast options in inexpensive hotels. My reservation and incidentally check out was with a young lady named Ms. Jessica. She was very polite, professional, and friendly. Because of her, I'd strongly recommend the hotel. Be aware: if you will be driving, the hotel has a daily $20 parking charge.

    4
« Very Nice Hotel; Friendly Staff »

Good location. Hotel very clean and modern. Breakfast selection was good and very tasty. Protein not just carbs! Our suite was very nice with one problem...the A/C was very loud and kept us awake at night.

« Walk to Parliament and Byward Market »

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. We were offered a free room upgrade to a King Suite - we declined it because their were 4 of us and it was hard to fit a cot into the room. The King bed is huge. Otherwise, the Queen Suite was perfect. We had a Queen bed in the bedroom and a cot and a sofa-bed in the living room. The Suite comes with a microwave, fridge and sink. The cupboard has cutlery and dishes/glasses/mugs. Fresh towels and a sparkling clean room after each room cleaning. The room was a bit tired looking, but it was comfortable and very quiet. The walk to Parliament is about 20 minutes and Byward Market is past parliament. We were there for Canada 150 and took in many sights and special events. Remember, though, you are not beside Parliament - you have to exert a bit of energy to get there. The neighborhood is alive and bustling. You are close to great restaurants and attractions. Wear comfortable shoes for the walk. The only downfall is that the outdoor parking is a couple of blocks away. It is $12/night. Not costly - but not convenient, either. The underground is $20.00, but tight if you have an SUV or truck. Breakfast was fresh and they had plenty. Even though it was busy the hot plates were kept stocked. It was nice to have a complimentary breakfast and then be free to start your day. Front desk staff are very accommodating and helpful. They strive to make your stay a comfortable one. If you want a secure, clean and convenient hotel - would recommend this Best Western. Plus, they are doing their best to put Green Practice to use.

    « Excellent hotel »

We stayed in one of the suites for 3 nights. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room was in excellent condition; very clean, tidy and quiet. The bed was comfortable. Breakfasts were tasty and the underground parking was convenient. The hotel is also in a great location; it is a few minute walk to the museum of nature and it is close to all the downtown attractions.

« A very good choice in Ottawa »

This is a very comfortable and great hotel in Ottawa. As I said before, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Besides, the rooms are very big so you have a lot of space to place your luggage. The staff are very friendly and they can provide you extra information to visit the most important places in Canada's capital. The hotel is not far from the city centre. If you go on foot, your walk will take 10 minutes more or less.

    « Great Hotel »

We stayed here for 4 nights, as we wanted to visit Ottawa and see the La Machine. Very quiet, comfortable and clean hotel rooms, with nice amenities such as microwave and dishes. It is about a 20 - 30 minute walk up to the Parliament Hill and Sparks Street areas, but his was much better than driving up there and then being stuck in traffic. The continental breakfast was a great addition, with plenty of selection to start the day.

    5
    « Excellent stay »

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and found the hotel and staff to be excellent. It was our 10th wedding anniversary and in our room we found two Canada 150 coffee mugs and a very nicely written card of congratulations... a very nice touch that we found at no other hotel we stayed at during our two week road trip. We were also upgraded to a larger room for free. The included breakfast is decent and our room was clean, comfortable, with nice a kitchen area. It also has a coin operated laundry which we badly needed :D The hotel is a 30 minute walk from parliament but through some nice neighbourhoods. O'Connor St. doesn't have any shops on it but if you go one street over there're restaurants and shops practically all the way up to parliament. I'd definitely stay here again and once again thank the staff at the hotel for such a warm welcome.

    5
    « Great hotel »

We stayed here for two nights and had two rooms. The beds are amazing, the bathrooms have fans and night lights. They have a pillow menu. The only drawback was breakfast was very crowded. The parking is easy and only $20.

    « Nice Hotel »

    « Best, Best Western »

large clean rooms, good location, helpful staff, good breakfast, comfortable beds. I would stay here again. The only downside was the $20,00 per night on sight parking charge but you could use an off site location for $12.00 per night.

    5
« Excellent hotel in a perfect location. »

I recommend this hotel. This hotel is in the perfect location to walk to restaurants, pubs and tourist attractions. It was great to park my car in the underground hotel parking and be able to walk around Ottawa. The rooms are clean and inviting. The beds are comfy. There was a delicious variety of hot and cold foods provided in the complimentary breakfast. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and courteous.

    « Junior Suite »

We were very glad for the convenience of a small apartment, a living room with a sofa bed, a bedroom and a full equipped kitchenette. Because we were 2 friends, we were very comfortable with that independence to sleep without any disturbance.

    « Won't Disappoint »

We just returned from a 5 night stay at the Best Western Ottawa Suites and thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. The location is awesome, a 20 min walk downtown and surrounded by eateries on adjacent streets. The building has retained it's old stone brick exterior, which is so beautiful about Ottawa. The inside has been modernized and although not large, has a good size check in and quaint lobby. The check in was fast and efficient with the friendliest staff. We stayed in a suite, which was spacious, comfortable and clean. Our maid (Jill)did a terrific job each day and you could even see that the furniture was vacuumed. Our friends stayed in a regular room but also commented on how great their room was. The breakfast which is included is definitely more than a continental breakfast. Fantastic choices. Apparently the head manager is sealaic and so they offer, gluten free and sealaic options. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. No complaints at all. Our only disappointment would be the extra $20.93 parking charge each day. I think it was high and to not even use our vechile and get hit with a $118.00 charge was very disappointing. I'm sure all hotels are the same but it seems like a high amount to pay on top of your hotel bill.

    5
    « Close to everything »

Hotel was easy to find, room ready upon arrival, no pool so I was dispointed but breakfast was awsome and made up for it. Underground parking was a little pricey but well organized. Staff was very friendly and hotel is close to all museums and parliment.

    5
« Good location, all the comforts and friendly staff. »

We are two seniors and came to visit our son for a 3 day stay. The hotel is conveniently located not far from the Parliament buildings. The staff was very attentive to every request and was very welcoming. The breakfast included offered lots of choice and kids or seniors could satisfy themselves. The use of paper plates for us was a negative and obviously a choice to cut down expenses; however, real plates makes a better experience. Having traveled a lot through the years, this was a first for us. Comfortable bed, room a good size, wifi worked well in room. We will return there for our next stay for sure.

    5
    « Really enjoyable time »

This hotel is situated in area close to Parliament hill. The staff are very good and helpful. The breakfast in morning is well stocked and much variety. Get there early fills up around 8.00am. Rooms spacious, very clean, beds very comfortable. Parking is underground at $20 a day but well worth in for a town with limited parking. Great stay would stay again. Many Restaurants only a couple of blocks away.

    5
« Nice hotel with spacious rooms »

We have spent just one night here for a quick visit to the Capital region, including Parliament Hill (just 1.2 km north) and Rideau Hall (by bike or car). The room was spacious with the second bed for the kids being a sofa-bed in the sitting area, separated from the bedroom. The bathroom was also big and there was a kitchenette with fridge, microwave and sink. Everything was clean and spotless. The breakfast included wad quite good with also a quite varied menu. Overall a good stay.

« Pleasant stay. Very pleasant and helpful staff. »

Very much enjoyed our 2 night stay. Convenient location. Within comfortable walking distance to all major attractions. Hotel is very clean and helpfulness of staff enhanced our stay. Would definitely stay here again the next time we are in Ottawa.

« Exceptionally clean, great service, good location »

We had been on the road for close to two weeks and this hotel was the best place we stayed to that point, by a substantial margin. The hotel is exceptionally clean. The rooms are very clean, as you would expect, and the high level of cleanliness carries on throughout the hotel, including the breakfast area and reception. The service was great and the reception staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They were very professional and knowledgable, answering all our questions about the hotel and providing us with great advice about what to see in the area. The hotel is in a really good area in Ottawa, just a few minutes walk to the pubs on Elgin and the shops and restaurants in Glebe. It is next to other attractions like the Natural History Museum and the Rideau canal The underground parking is very convenient.

    5
« Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. »

Clean, up to date, well-designed suite, near restaurants and 20 minute walk or inexpensive Uber ride to Parliament, fabulous museum, canal and river rides. The staff was knowledgeable and experienced providing help and advice to us and other guests. Note thet we had 3 adults in a suite with no difficulty.

    « Redblacks Football game »

This is our second time staying here. It's a nice place within walking distance to many downtown sites. We picked this place because it is the closest hotel to Landsdowne park/TD Place. We decided to stay here overnight even though we live just outside of Ottawa. We took our bikes with us and biked from the hotel over to the Mosaicanada150 at the Jacques Cartier Park in Gatineau. Which is a must see. We also took in events in the market and rode our bikes around parliment hill. There is so much to do in Ottawa and this hotel is ideally situated to take in all Ottawa has to offer. We are staying here for the Grey Cup. Can't wait....

    « Great hotel - in a star rating system, we call it a high-end 3-star. »

My husband and I are spoiled -- we often stay in 4 and sometimes 5 star hotels. But we have no qualms about staying in Best Western Plus hotels. This Ottawa hotel had amazing front desk staff. I think they actually enjoy helping customers. If they don't, they had me fooled! Very clean room, pristine bathroom counter area. Jacuzzi bathtub was spotless. We slept well on the king bed. A thoughtful touch is the extra box of tissues -- you can take one to the bedroom area. Kitchenette had the dishes we needed. The breakfast has something for everyone, including an outdoor eating area (no view, but nice air and sunshine). We are good walkers, and have good walking shoes, so we walked everywhere -- found free street parking for the weekend right across the street, and just left the car there the whole weekend. Parliament Hill is roughly 1.5 kilometres away (15-25 minute walk, depending on pace). A great stay -- we were delighted with the whole trip.

Always a pleasure to stay here. The staff are very helpful and the breakfast is good. The extra bedroom makes this a very practical option for families. EV charging very much appreciated, makes the trip possible.

« Spotlessly clean, great condition, great location »

They really do take care of this hotel, everything is in great shape. There are few if any hotels in this area, which is an interesting choice for access to new bar/restaurant areas. It's nice to stay in a residential area also.

    « Canada Day 150 Visit »

The Best Western Plus Ottawa downtown suites really knows about listening to their customers!! We stayed here for the Canada 150 celebrations. I asked the front desk what time the complimentary breakfast would start and was told 7:30 a.m. Because everyone was in Ottawa to be on Parliament Hill for the Canada 150 celebrations as early as possible, breakfast at 7:30 a.m didn't cut it. People needed to be on the Hill as early as possible. I raised this issue with the front desk, who immediately jumped on it, called in extra staff and arranged to open for breakfast at 6:45 a.m. They actually opened breakfast at 6:30. The moral of the story? It would have been easier for them to shrug it off and say" sorry", but they rose to the challenge and rallied the troops to deliver for it's clients. In addition, the complimentary breakfast was very good, the hotel location is perfect for getting around the city and walking distance to good restaurants, but above all, the staff genuinely seem to love working there and share the same sense of customer service. Well done Best Western!!

    5
« Great stay during a busy Canada Day Celebration »

The best thing about this hotel was the service. It was outstanding considering how busy they must have been. They opened up the free continental breakfast an hour earlier because they knew people would be up early for Canada Day celebrations. The parking garage was useful, but the stalls are extremely tight to get in and out of. We paid a premium cost for each night because it was Canada Day, so I can't say the value any other time.

    « Our stay June 30th to July 3rd 2017 »

« Great place to stay »

Myself and two friends choose to stay here after spending our weekend camping at the Rockfest music festival in Montebello, QC. We arrived in Ottawa around 10:30 a.m. and we called the hotel to see when check-in time was. We were told that check-in is at 3:00 p.m., but they had a room available so we could check in now. Needless to say, after a weekend of camping, we were tired, dirty and in need of a place to rest and freshen up. The ability to check in 4 hours early at no extra charge really made our last full day of vacation an awesome one. I loved everything about this place. The staff were great, the rooms were lovely, the free breakfast was fantastic. We were very happy with the location as we were only a 25-minute walk to parliament hill and only a 4-minute walk to Elgin Street, where there were plenty of great bars and restaurants. I look forward to returning to Ottawa and I will most definitely be staying here.

    5
« Awesome place to stay »

I am a frequent at this Hotel, its relatedly cheap and comfortable. At 80/day I stayed for almost 3 months all week in Ottawa, CA and I loved it. I definitely recommend it. The rooms have it all including kitchen stuff. Go for it!

« Great central place to stay in Ottawa »

Although a little outside of the downtown area, the hotel is a 20 minute walk along the Rideau Canal to downtown or The Glebe. Lots of amenities on Bank and Elgin. Very helpful staff, rooms are comfortable, as are the beds. We regularly stay at this hotel when in Ottawa.

Upon arriving at this establishment, we were impressed with the friendly staff. Explained about the 3 options for parking. Their own underground lot for $20, a parking lot spot for $12 (this was 4 blocks away) or chance free street parking. Room was very, very nice. Plenty of space and nice thick towels. Breakfast had indoor or outdoor seating. Good variety. Very clean. Would stay here again.

There's almost always room for improvement everywhere you go. Overall it is a good hotel and is in a good area of town We had 4 rooms in total. One of which was a king suite and the others where doubles. My family stayed there many times before and they noticed the breakfast was less plentiful than usual. It used to have cheeses for example and some cold cuts however this weekend it was lacking. The internet isn't as fast as you would want or need it to be either. The location is good for downtown but it is very hard to get in and out with your car as it's on a corner of a one way street and the pickup and drop off area is tight. Getting into the parking requires a room key but how are you supposed to unload and check in and then take your car down to the tight underground parking?? The king bed was definitely not a king bed and should not be advertised as such. The hotel is old I understand but if you are going to renovate you need to go all out or not at all. There were cracks in the ceiling and the overall finish wasn't really "newly renovated" Again I'm not putting down the hotel just stating the facts which the hotel can use to build upon and become better and better. Customer service was great minus the king size bed situation Also they have fast check in and check out.

« Anniversary trip to Ottawa »

Centrally located, however not close enough to walk to the Parliament buildings area. Very close to Elgin street and some good restaurants within walking distance and around the corner from the Canadian Museum of Nature. Indoor parking was a little difficult as we had a Ford pick-up and we actually smacked the top into a ceiling fan. Not too pleased about that - the signage was not that great. Overall the Hotel is clean, the room was nice and clean. The breakfast in the morning was very good; way better than your average continental breakfast.

    « Repeat customer! »

From check in to check out I have always been treated perfect...I stay at this Best Western about 10-12 times a year and they have never failed to please me. I would recommend this hotel for either a quick stay over or an extended visit.

    « Very nice hotel »

This is my usual hotel when I go to Ottawa for work. The staff, the rooms, the services everything is very good. I would also choose this hotel for a personal or family trip. Close to many restaurants and a 15-20 minute walk to the main attractions of the city.

    « Doors Open 2017 »

Just visited the big O for Doors Open 2017 and this hotel was central to everything we wanted to do. The room that we had, included a separate bedroom and pullout sofa that accommodated our family of 4 nicely. The refrigerator and kitchenette area were handy to have, with the room in general being clean and well maintained. I would complain a bit about the wifi quality and connectivity but it is pretty much the average based on previous hotel experiences. The underground parking lot is an extra $20+ per night but seemed worth it for the convenience. I would stay here again on the next visit.

    « Pleasantly surprised »

I stayed for five nights during a convention and thoroughly enjoyed the accommodations: spacious suites, comfortable bed, kitchen facilities, clean and quiet. Staff was courteous and helpful. Close to so many great tourist attractions. Would definitely stay again.

    « Mediocre »

This hotel is in a good central location, however, the rooms desperately need updating/ renovating, especially when considering the price. They are a decent size but again, renovation is needed. Service was friendly enough but breakfast was too early... 10:30 am it ENDS on *weekends*. Sheets are scratchy. They also charge $21.00 a day for parking! Lots of counter space in bathrooms and good water pressure. Decent but one can do better...

« Great Location without the downtown noise »

Great location in the middle of everything yet not right in the busy downtown. Walking distance to the canal, Elgin St, Glebe, Lansdowne, Market and Parliament. I loved the proximity to grocery, lcbo, restaurants.

« Clean, quiet and comfortable. »

A friend and I stayed here to visit local friends. The room was clean; the mattress was excellent; linens were very nice; and the bathroom was clean and the right size. Originally we were given a room that hadn't been cleaned, so we moved to a different floor. Everyone was apologetic and oozed excellent customer service. I used the exercise equipment once in the night. It was on the top floor in a corner with no other people around. I'm used to exercise rooms being somewhere near staff, but I stayed for an hour. I loaded pictures up during the day of the room. I wanted to use the sauna, but I ran out of time. No pool here, but I love saunas. The breakfast buffet has enough of everything to make everyone happy. On Saturday and Sunday, it was open half-hour before the posted hours on the door. There is also a place off the front desk to purchase snacks and beverages. The Nature Museum is one block around the corner. We parked in the underground garage.

« Enjoyed stay; Better-than-average room; great location »

Booked regular room but we were given a 2-room suite so that upped my rating! Staff all very friendly and helpful. Location - easy to get to from Hwy 417. However Bank street and Eglin easy walking to great shops and restaurants. Buses provided convenient access to sites like Parliament Hill, National Gallery, Bytown. Parking available at hotel - $20/day - tight access and spaces - need driving skills! - but we just parked and left the car there for our entire stay. Breakfast included - but they could do better environmentally - paper plates and plastic cutlery :( Major complaint: the TV feed was problematic - freezes, dropouts, especially bad during the Hockey game - frustrating when watching overtime playoff final!

    5
    « Wonderful stay »

My girlfriend and I spent the night here and it was such a nice and great hotel. My room came with a living room with a bedroom. The bathtub had nice jets in them which was a bonus, Very soft bed with an exercise room, sauna both on the 8th floor and an excellent free breakfast in the morning from 6:30 to 9:30

« A step away from town in nice neighborhood »

Excellent staff, breakfast basic but good choices and all quality. Room basic but clean and comfortable. Lobby bright and staff welcoming and informative. Nice to stay outside of the downtown area, and walkable to the Glebe and Rideau. Good value.

    4
« Comfortable, clean and friendly »

We had a room with two queen beds as the suites were sold out when we booked. We asked for a quiet room and were very satisfied with the room and it's location. The beds were comfortable and the room was more than adequate. The included breakfast had a variety of hot and cold choices, much better than the typical breakfast that is included with a hotel room. The very staff at the front desk were very friendly and obliging.

    5
    « The friendliest hotel »

We definitely would choose this hotel again. We were in Ottawa for a wedding at the time of the Tulip Festival. The hotel is ideally placed for so much: Parliament Hill, Byward Market, Dow's Lake, the Nature Museum. The weather and the tulips cooperated. It was great to set out each day after a very good breakfast to walk to different locations. The staff throughout the hotel were the friendliest, happiest people I have met working in a hotel and I have travelled the world. The room was more than we needed and the bed was the usual comfortable Best Western standard.

    4
    « Conveniently located »

Best location away from crowd. Especially near to Tulip festival attractions. The Continental free breakfast was great and excellent service by the hotel staff. Will be back here next time God willing.

    5
« Great value and service »

Clean and quiet, great place to work from when necessary. This location is a decent walk away from Parliament Hill but very close to the night life on Elgin Street. I always enjoy my stay and I love the bed!

« Good service, good location, clean rooms »

The management is very efficient in correcting any flaws you may find. We were there 3 nights for a seminar, the place is near the highway. Breakfast was not included but the restaurant has reasonable prices and food is tasty. We loved it!

    5
« Great location and helpful desk staff. »

We stayed at this location so we could walk to most of the events we wanted to see in February. We walked to the Parliament Buildings, the Rideau Canal for skating, to see the Ice Sculptures and to local restaurants. The staff at the front desk were very helpful at giving directions and suggestions to us.

    4
    « A great find! »

We stayed here for 1 week and had a great time! The only problem we had was that there was no consistency for the housekeeping service. Some days the room was clean and refilled, but some days it wasn't.

    5
« Would definitely stay there again. »

Comfortable, clean, quiet room. Decent continental breakfast included. Very friendly and accommodating front desk staff. Good indoor parking at a reasonable price. Good price for a good room (especially after the seniors' discount.

    « Excellent stay »

The room is clean and spacious. The hotel offers a good range of selection of its complimentary breakfast. The hotel locates in downtown Ottawa within walking distances to shops and restaurants. The staffs are friendly and helpful.

    5
    « Ottawa Hotel »

This is our go to hotel in Ottawa. It is centrally located and the rooms (which are suites) are clean and modern. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The breakfast also serves hot items (such as a simple cheese omelette and protein) which is very much appreciated as not all people want cereal and bread.

    4
« Nice appearance, clean and comfortable »

I would certainly return to this BW. The rooms were clean, comfortable and up to date. The location was also convenient. Even the underground parking garage was clean, well lit and very acceptable in appearance.

    5
« Great location, welcome and hospitality »

My husband and I were recently in Ottawa to attend my brother's funeral. He died unexpectedly so this was a very trying time. The hotel staff were extremely professionnal and helpful for our booking and during our stay. The executive suite provided was impeccable and provided a restfull and quiet environment which we greatly appreciated. This is our 2nd stay at this hotel and we highly recommend it.

    5
« Nice dark room with comfy bed »

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel while we visited family in the area. We are able to walk everywhere that we need to be. We used the underground parking this visit (on previous visit we did not have a rental car) Parking was convenient as there were quiet a few wet days on our visit. It was very quiet...for being on a busy street!

    « Girls night out »

Thank you for a wonderful, spacious, clean room! Love the bedroom seperate from main area and who knew a pull out couch could be comfortable??! It really is! Thick foam mattress!! Breakfast was catered but very nice selection. Will be back for sure. Brandy.

    « Ottawa »

This is a great location. Two minute walk to nature museum. Hotel was very clean, and rooms were well-equipped and nicely decorated. Beds were comfortable. We were surprised to learn on arrive that parking is $21/day. There is no restaurant or café in the hotel. They offer buffet breakfast every morning which was fine.

    4
« Great place to stay in Ottawa »

Recently visited Ottawa and stayed here. The hotel was within walking distance of downtown Ottawa. It was a pleasant 15 minute walk to the hill. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel was relatively new and quite clean. There was an option to park off the hotel site which was cheaper than the underground parking. Highly recommended place to stay.

    5
« Great location and friendly staff »

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location close to Elgin Street and Bank Street with numerous restaurants and pubs. Walking distance to museums and attractions. Room was very large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fine but coffee was not the greatest. Would stay here again.

    5
    « Always a great stay »

Hotel is in a very good spot for my business needs. I like the fact it is close to Bank Street, which has most of the restaurants and services that I require when walking around the area. When located in Ottawa for business I prefer to walk if I can.

    5
« Excellent Room and customer service »

We will very satisfied with our room. It was very clean and comfortable. We will be back to stay at this hotel when we come to Ottawa again. The King Suite was excellent. There are lots of restaurants in the area and also the Natural history museum is right around the corner.

    4
« Quality Stay for a Reasonable Price »

The service at the front desk was quick and efficient. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Great location within easy walking distance of restaurants. This was my first stay but I would definitely stay again.

    « Great »

Perfect place when visiting Ottawa.. Away from the madness but close enough to enjoy it. Great if cycling or walking... lots of restos near by.. Quiet clean and comfortable. Parking: $21 day, free if you have an electric car.

    « Family getaway »

Spent good Friday until easter Sunday. Booked a room with 2 double beds, were upgraded for free to a suite with a separate bedroom and 2 televisions. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast buffet was good. Had a good variety to choose from. Was within walking distance of many restaurants on Elgin Street. If you're up for a longer walk you can walk to parliament and also walk across the bridge to Quebec. On Saturday we walked 11 kilometers . Two minute walk to museum of nature. Parked our car Friday and didn't use it again until we were leaving

    5
« Wonderful stay, convenient location »

We had a great 2-night stay here over the Easter weekend. We were greeted by lovely staff, who were always available. The cleaners were absolutely great too, everyone was so friendly and helpful. The room was spotless, warm and beds comfortable. It was a great location, easy access to everything. Breakfast wasn't the best, but it was enough for us. We loved our stay and highly recommend this hotel!

Stay here every time we visit Ottawa, great location close to downtown Starbucks has underground parking. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. We always get a suite and we feel at home with all the extra space.

    « Really great »

    « Business »

The friendly staff and comfortable facilities at Best Western make a stay there a real pleasure. There is also speedy access to the internet which is essential for guests trying to catch up with business matters during their stay. Overall I would rate my stay as excellent.

    5
« Friendly Efficient - Great Value and Location »

Great mid sized hotel with caring staff andgreat value. Located between downtown and the Glebe, just off the highway. Easy to walk anywhere in the downtown area and all of the attractions and shopping - as well as to all business meetings and the convention centre.

    4
« Our stay was great and very comfortable »

The room was not very big as we had 2 double beds which I must say were very comfortable and the pillows were great. We had a small kitchenette which worked out very well having use of the fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The hotel also included breakfast which was; ham, cheese omelettes, hard boiled eggs, fruit salad, lots of bread options and cereal and oatmeal with a lot of toppings plus juice, coffee and apples and bananas to grab and go. It was close to a lot of restaurants and bars but about a 20-30 minute walk to Byward Market which we didn't mind. We will definitely stay here again.

    « Best Western Ottawa »

I recently stayed at the Best Western on O'Connor street in Ottawa. Staff were friendly and very helpful, my room was comfortable and quiet and I enjoyed my stay. Bed was quite comfortable and it was nice to have a mini kitchenette in my room.

« Very good stay here »

Recently stayed here during a 3 day trip to Ottawa. Check-in - very quick at the front desk Staff - everyone was very friendly and helpful with my requests. Well done everyone. Room - The room was very clean and comfortable. The beds were comfortable to sleep on but realizing this is subjective to individual tastes. The room I stayed in had two double beds, a in room safe, the television had lots of channels, a kitchen counter, with a microwave, sink, small fridge, keurig coffee maker and some keurig coffee pods and tea as well as some dishes. There was also lots of water pressure and lots of hot water even during peak times. Breakfast - also subjective to individual opinions, but I found it was good and more than a typical continental breakfast, with some hot dishes, breads, cereals, juice and coffee. Hot eggs, waffles, sausages were included. Lots of tables to sit at also Location - when I stay in Ottawa, I walk everywhere. Depending on ability of course, about a 20-25 minute walk to Parliament Hill. Also close to lots of restaurants on Elgin St (and other streets also) as well as a nearby grocery store. Museum of Nature is also very close by. I would stay here again and would also recommend to others Great job done by the people who work there.

« Perfect for our needs »

Stayed two nights for business meeting purposes. Excellent venue for our group of 30. Kitchenette has everything you need. Breakfast included was fine. Lunch served for meeting was perfect. Variety of restaurants available within walking distance.

« Stayed for a night on a weekend trip »

I stayed here with my mother on a weekend trip to visit and shop. Overall, a very nice hotel. Very comfortable beds, and very quiet rooms (no noise from neighbouring showers, hallway etc). In addition, the room had a sink, dishes, fridge and microwave. Continental breakfast was good, though no waffles. Note that parking is extra (about 20.00) at this location.

    3
    « Disappointed this time »

Booked a room for 3. no one told us the bedding for the pull out couch was in the TV stand drawer. Looked in closets and couldnt find it. Shared from bedroom. For the price of this hotel you think front desk would tell you were the bedding is.

« Location, amenities and good breakfast. »

Conveniently located for both highway and downtown access and easy to navigate to/from hotel via streets downtown or highway ramp as this trip entailed various errands at locations requiring distance driving. Hotel check-in fast and efficient with prepay option selected for competitive pricing. Hotel is very close to many great restaurants along Elgin and included abundant and varied breakfast including omelettes, ham and waffles along with regular continental fare. Double standard room was comfortable with convenience of microwave and fridge, dishes and sink but no eating table - useful for snacks and food storage not food prep like full suites provide.

    4
« Comfortable well equipped rooms. »

Pleasant staff at check in, room was quite roomy and comfortable. The little kitchenette was very well equipped. I had a bit of difficulty figuring out how to get into the parking, and crossing the bike lane is rather risky.

    « Excellent »

Arrived early and got a complimentary upgrade to a King Suite.(mostly because I'm a rewards member) Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Loved the jet tub. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and filling. Great location close to restaurants. Overall great experience and will definitely being staying again

    4
« Pleasant stay, excellent value »

Had a pleasant stay. Front desk staff very helpful from reservation, through check in and check out. Breakfast choices were very good and staff were efficient restocking coffee and food and keeping things clean and tidy in spite of high occupancy rate. This hotel is conveniently located, with lots of good restaurant choices a short walk away. It is very clean and friendly and excellent value for the cost.

    « Awesome in Ottawa »

Everything from the parking, front door, staff, housekeeping, breakfast, lobby ... was amazing! The room was spotless, breakfast was fantastic and front desk staff were helpful and very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

« Lovely, homey, super clean, centrally located »

Extremely comfortable, super clean, very homey! Breakfast has lots of options... Parking is convenient and all staff very kind and helpful. Stayed with my teenagers for a rugby tournament ... they gave it 2 thumbs up as well. Centrally located near sight seeing, great restaurants and easy access to highways. 10/10!!! Savings for CAA members as well.

    « Ottawa 2016 Best western »

Great stay at hotel and I like the location of the hotel in downtown Ottawa. I give this hotel a 5 out of 5 for one of the best hotels I have stayed in the Ottawa area close to Parliament hill museums and much more.

« Still an ideal spot in Ottawa ... »

Stayed at this BW many times over the years (biz & pleasure) - always very clean & the most comfortable beds/pillows. Renovations modernized it well, convenient location & very friendly/helpful staff.

    4
    « Thoughtful & surprisingly nice! »

The room was quite nice, clean, & even had everyday conveniences like plates, bowls, mugs & cutlery to make our lives easier. Breakfast had a pretty good variety and was included, parking was convenient and safe underground. Did not encounter much staff but the brief exchanges were all friendly with the exception of the sass of just one house keeping attendant; who was annoyed that we delayed leaving so she could finish with our room the first night. I'd go back if we were in town!

« Satisfying Stay in Best Western Ottawa Suite »

We were surprised at the onset of the layout of the suite, not expecting the quality of the room for the relatively low price we were paying. The site is within an older portion of the city (of historic appeal if this is of interest) at the outskirts of the downtown but in close walking proximity (<20 minutes) to the Nature Museum, Rideau Canal, downtown Ottawa, and the Legislative buildings. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was more than suitable.

    5
    « 10/10 »

Beds are super comfy, rooms are super clean, staff is very polite and very welcoming. Breakfast was tasty and servers were again very polite, in addition restaurant was very clean. Overall very nice hotel.

« When there was no other option »

Adequate hotel, near downtown. During one of those weeks when all hotels were booked, this is where I ended up. It was a room, with a bed, and was clean and quiet enough for the one night. Good value, no complaints.

    4
« Good accommodation close to city hall »

Underground parking, very clean and good staff who enjoy helping customer. The breakfast were good but more selection for protein ( just scramble egg maybe hard boiled egg) but would not stop me to go back

    4
    « Service »

No complain for my stay, everything was perfect. I recommend friend to stay to this Hotel. the room is clean, bathroom,... however when you are steeling you can hear people in hall way. I did enjoy the stay I wish I could have more time to be spend in this hotel.

    3
« Average accommodations; poor breakfast »

Room was average for this level and price range. Easy check-in/out. Underground, secure parking is a plus. Free breakfast was poor compared to Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express. If you're only looking for a place to sleep, you're probably okay.

    « 4 days couple getaway vacation »

We booked this hotel for 4 nights and decided to treat ourselves with a king size bed suite. Comfortable and lots of space which was very important for us, espacially having the bedroom seperate from the living room space. It actually came in handy to have the microwave and mini fridge since me and my boyfriend eat and sleep at different times. I could snack if I woke up early without disturbing his sleep (I have a lot of insomnia due to being pregnant) Check in was brief, easy and straight to the point which was a plus for me. Continental breakfast was included and had no trouble with the food choice. Yogurt, scrambled eggs, toasts, english muffins and bagels. Some mornings we had bacon, ham and sausages, waffles and French toasts. We actually enjoyed going to the Musée de la nature just next door tot he hotel. Lots of vietnamese restaurants, couple of Tim Hortons, pubs, and restaurants around. If you want a relaxing vacation, this place is a no brainer in my opinion.

    5
« 5 night's of seeing the sites in Ottawa »

The 4th floor room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast selection was excellent! the staff were very helpful in showing us the best way to get where we wanted to go. They were accurate in the estimates on the time needed. The location was great in that one day we never used the car. We walked to the museum around the corner and spent the better part of the day there. The are also many restaurants within a short walk of the Hotel.

    4
« Good accomadtion in Ottawa! »

We were guest in this structure during our journey in Canada and apart from what somebody could expect from outside, the hotel is really good, modern and the rooms are very confortable. the breakfast is various but the room is not so large. I suggest to book parking before in order to avoid to take the car in a parking far from the hotel and without control. The hotel is about 20min far on foot from the centre.

    5
    « Exceeded My expectations !!! »

From the moment of arrival, until the departure all staff was smiling, warm friendly and went out of their way to help and suggest with anything that came up. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very well presented and kept well stocked at all times even when it was crazy busy. Most attractions to visit were a very reasonable cab ride. Would definitely stay here again.

« Great Hotel in downtown Ottawa »

Just a few steps from the Museum of Nature and close to many restaurants on Elgin street. Spacious clean rooms. Very quiet. Friendly, polite and helpful staff. When we mentioned that we had trouble parking the truck in the garage, they offered us an alternative. Strongly recommend this hotel.

    3
« Disappointing for such a highly rated hotel »

The location was great, fee charged for parking under the hotel (ours was complimentary because of a problem with our first room) - free parking is available off-site. We had booked ahead and given guaranteed room reservation - arriving in the evening and we were allocated to the last available room - this was the big mistake - that room smelt awful and we think it had bedbugs (my wife was bitten) I was in a different bed. On entering the room we had complained about the smell but no other room was available - the hotel relocated us after breakfast the very next day. The new room was much better although it still had a slightly strange smell. The hotel does not fit my idea of a suite hotel - it is a single room with a small 'kitchen' area - sink, fridge, microwave, dishes and cutlery, pod coffee maker with coffee pods and tea bags. The hotel info does not make that clear. Other suite hotels that I use always have a separate bedroom and living/dining area.

    5
« Great place to stay! »

We were in town for a wedding, and booked a suite so our daughters could be with us. The king bed, and the sofa bed, were very comfortable. The hotel was exceptionally clean, and all staff were very friendly.

    5
    « Ideal for families. »

Whenever I visit Ottawa, my family and I always stay at the Best Western Suites. The location is excellent, the staff are very friendly, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and perfect for relaxing in. There is something very unique that is worth mentioning: My wife and I typically put our small children in the bedroom while she and I take the pull-out couch in the living area. To be honest, we've never slept on a more comfortable pull-out. When you're staying for several nights in a row, this level of comfort is critical. If possible, we would love to buy a new one for our spare room at home! Keep up the great work, team. We'll see you again next time we're in Ottawa.

    4
« Good place to stay. »

We had a room on the 6th floor, and although it faced a busy street, when the window was closed it was very quiet. Everything was very clean and quite comfortable. Lots of towels. The Wifi was quite good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Underground parking was convenient and although there is a fee, it was not exorbitant. This hotel is within easy walking distance of the Parliament buildings, many other interesting sights, good restaurants and shopping. There was a small in-room kitchenette that was surprisingly well equipped. The free breakfast offered had a number of different options, enough to suit most every taste. We would definitely go back.

    5
    « Very Lovely Stay »

I came to Ottawa for work. It was so nice that the hotel was situated a few minutes walk from where I had meetings and major streets for banking services, grocery and restaurants. The complimentary breakfast offered a good selection and the housekeeping was impeccable. Very nice and friendly staff. Conducive sitting area in the lobby. I particularly liked that I looked forward to going into my room at the end of a busy day because it was quiet and the bed very comfortable.

    4
« Very comfortable hotel and friendly staff »

I stayed at this hotel for two nights. It was very comfortable and within walking distance of many sites to see. The staff was very helpful, and the breakfast was better than average. The reason I did not give this hotel give stars was because the bed was not very comfortable plus the air conditioner is very loud and annoying as it goes off and on all through the night. But, they do have a pillow menu! lol

    5
    « Wonderful! »

Great staff at reception. Nice clean, comfortable rooms. Extremely close to where are wedding reception was held. (Museum of Nature) Would highly recommend this hotel, and would not hesitate to return.

    5
« Stay at Best Western Ottawa »

Very nice hotel, well maintained and very clean. Location is perfect for meeting people on Elgin Street at one of the numerous restaurants. Room was spacious, elevators were fat and I think new. Underground parking is a bit cramped but all downtown hotels are the same for this.

« A nice walk up to the market »

The day starts with an ample breakfast served in the dining room - it's all free. Lots of newspapers and TV screens to peruse as you enjoy a full hot breakfast with unlimited everything. About a 20-minute walk up OConnor St brings you to Baytown Market with a large variety of art and food products (more food?) at decent prices. Parking there - forget it. Leave your car in the garage at the hotel for just $19 daily - worth it. To go out further like say, nearby Gatineau, just drive past the Parliament buildings along Sussex to visit Rideau Hall grounds, RCMP musical ride exhibit, and the museums. All very interesting, and either free or low admission. The hotel is clean, nice rooms with TV, relaxing and comfortable. Staff are helpful and well-informed as to local sights. Two nights with all taxes came to $399.

« Our stay at the Best Western in Ottawa »

Great experience at this Best Western in Ottawa. Friendly and helpful reception. Clean rooms and very comfortable bed and pillows. Location ideal with walking distance to many popular Elgin Street restaurants. Highly recommended.

« Good value, good staff »

Hotel is in a good location, . Staff very helpful with all requests. We were able to change rooms easily with no additional cost. I had difficulty with the bed as it is a platform and I am short. I had to use a chair as a step-stool, quite the adventure. Lighting in the room, as in most hotels, is inadequate.

    « Fantastic Stay »

Clean, comfortable, spacious room. Friendly, approachable, helpful staff. Convenient location within walking distance of great restaurants and casual dining. Easy 15-30 min walk to Parliament and markets. Wide choices available for breakfast. Overall a wonderful stay. Beautiful city! We loved our stay.

    « Excellent location »

Four of us shared a room and traveled to Ottawa to visit the museums and eat the local cuisine. Was not disappointed. Directly across from the Museum of Nature which was a huge plus. We walked everywhere from this hotel. Friendly staff and very accommodating. Great breakfast choices. Only flaw was that we stayed next to a rowdy group that woke me up (my friends slept through it). Other than that, excellent stay!

    « Nice Place »

Stayed here for only one night but I was very impressed. Location is convenient, staff is friendly, and the rooms were clean. The gym was small but has everything people could need during their stay. It's also worth paying for the underground parking ($19.99/night) as the outdoor parking is a few blocks away ($12.99/night). All in all, very glad I stayed here! Will be back!

« Reasonably price, clean, and comfortable »

Clean, comfortable, quiet, & reasonably priced compared to other hotels....and it included a breakfast that was pretty good with a variety of foods. The location was good...too bad they charge extra for parking!

    « The Best! »

WOW1! an amazing hotel, The staff and the amenities are top notch. The suite was so clean and comfy. The bed was dreamy, and the linens were heavenly. We have stayed at about 25 hotels this summer and this was one of the best!

« Great location in a wonderful city »

Our room was very nice with the well stocked kitchenette being a bonus. The hotel was centrally located, quiet and staffed with friendly knowledgeable people. Breakfast was excellent. On our next trip to Ottawa we will stay here, without a doubt!

    « good location »

The room was a bit smaller than I expected. Other than that, everything was perfect. The location's super convenient, if you want to explore the city of Ottawa on foot. I bought the Nordik Spa-Nature package. The spa experience was amazing, and the hotel's just a few minutes drive from the spa.

« Great hotel, good location »

Stayed here for just the one night as part of a Eastern Cities tour. Our room was a well furnished suite with small kitchenette, the beds were comfortable, the room spotlessly clean with plenty of towels. The hotel is about 15-20 minutes walk from the Parliament buildings, in a quieter part of town. Reception staff were efficient and friendly and the in-room WiFi fast and reliable.

    « Seeing beautiful Ottawa »

We are visiting various Canadian cities and stayed at this hotel. It met our expectations in all areas. The location was a bit far from the Parliment and other government buildings but other than that give it a go.

    « Ottawa vacation »

The staff was very helpful, and answered all questions about places to eat and things to see. Located within walking distance to many restaurants. Rooms were very clean and large. Breakfast featured a wide variety of things to eat. Would recommend this hotel to any one travelling to Ottawa.

Great location for wedding we were attending at nearby museum. Walking distance to Elgin Street with great restaurant choices. Nice breakfast in the morning, overall great place to stay. Would stay again.

« Comfortable and friendly stay »

Our spacious and comfortable suite was on the 8th floor overlooking the Canadian Museum of Nature (a cool building but the only attractive thing in view). Furniture included a sofa and chair, small desk, large dresser, and a king-size bed with a nightstand. Bath with jet-tub, long bathroom counter. A tiny nook in the wall that contained a microwave, small fridge, sink, coffee maker, and cabinets with dishes. Two large-screen TVs. Wi-fi always worked well. Very clean. Quibbles: only place for towels was a rack INSIDE the tub/shower! Jet-tub worked but in a limited way (on/off switch was the only button that had any effect and some of the jets were not working). The bed had only ONE nightstand; nothing for the person on the other side. The rooms had the dullest colour palette ever: so much beige! Tan. Ecru. Thank goodness the coffee table was brown?that's as close to a splash of contrast there was. (Even the lousy wall art was beige.) Indoor parking $20 per day. Told there was a lot several blocks away but never went looking for it. Breakfast was not bad (but not great) with some variety. Seemed odd that coffee and tea were not available at more times throughout the day, but I guess you were expected to make it in your room. Service was almost always excellent. (One guy was dour, but the rest of the staff was a pleasure.) Easy walk to Elgin Street; farther to Rideau canal or to downtown. We found the neighbourhood of the hotel itself a bit like our room's decor: inoffensive but forgettable. This hotel is overall a very good choice.

    « Excellent hotel »

This hotel was recommended by colleagues, was very clean, staff were friendly, professional, very helpful. The room was clean, and well maintained. Comfortable bed, plenty of pillows and linens. I would recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues. I would definitely stay again.

« Credit where it is due! »

Stayed there on government business last week as my regular supposedly higher end choices weren't respecting normal rates and gouging during busy season (go figure). I came upon this location by chance and was pleasantly surprised. Parking and registration were fast and smooth. Even though it was a 14 minute walk from my meetings, I actually enjoyed doing so as it allowed me to unwind / get a chance to exercise and discover the neighborhood (found nice historic Italian restaurant at corner of O'Connor and Somerset). Unlike so many other places the iron/ironing board both actually worked! My room was clean, spacious and quiet except for the noisy bathroom ventilator which was promptly fixed at my request. Felt like I had my own fashionable downtown pad. Nice view of the museum of natural history beside the hotel. Kitchenette was awesome! Morning was made easier with free breakfast with good choices and enough seating. My only complaint is that there was only one ice machine in the basement which was inconvenient after a long day- one every other floor or so at minimum folks! I will definitely recommend this hotel and be glad to return.

« Great location, good value, vegan friendly-- overall a fine choice »

The staff were unfailingly helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean and well appointed, the location was two blocks from nice restaurants, the bed was super comfortable, and the location is peaceful and quiet despite the proximity to downtown. I loved having a fridge and microwave. I very much appreciated that there were two non-dairy milks offered at breakfast, along with the usual fare. That's a must for vegans and for people with lactose intolerance, but most hotels don't think of those people.

    « Excellent choiceI »

We had one night to spend in Ottawa and wanted a quick view of the sights! I debated hotel choice but chose this one based on price, location, and suite. I was not disappointed. It is very easy to reach from 417. We did not have to deal with any traffic congestion and parked easily. We walked to the Parliament area the first evening. We visited the Byward Market and walked along the locks. The next morning we took a 3 mile walk along the canal and river. The hotel is close enough that one can easily walk to all the major sites. We also enjoyed the fact that is was in a neighborhood and there were local restaurants nearby. I second the praise of the Elgin St. Diner....only 2 blocks away with good carry out. The price was as good as one can get in Ottawa and have a good room. The room was perfect. I requested a quiet room on a high floor and that is what we had. We really enjoyed having the suite. The bed was comfortable, the shower powerful, the internet strong enough, and the Keurig coffee maker was a nice touch. Breakfast was typical of a hotel/motel breakfast. My only complaint is they took away all coffee in the lobby area at 9:30. It would have been nice to have had more later. If we ever return to Ottawa, I would definitely stay here again.

« Off the beaten path, but worth it! »

In the heart of a residential area, this gem is a hidden treasure! Steps away from the Museum of Nature, restaurants, bars and a 12-minute walk to the downtown tourist area. We loved our room, very comfortable, spacious and clean! Staff were wonderful, breakfast good (similar to what you'd find in Holiday Inn Express hotels). Parking was about $20/day (which I thought was high given the area).

    4
    « good sleep »

Comfortable bed, clean room and great staff. Location is great. Quite at night, plenty of restaurant walking distance. for the price, it is very good, breakfast included. Parking is getting full pretty quickly.

    « Great location »

Stayed at this hotel for the Army Run. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast excellent and rooms very clean. Will definitely stay here again as it is in a great location and within walking distance to just about everything Ottawa has to offer. Lovely restaurants nearby. We have already booked here for 2017 Army Run, and will make this hotel our "go to" destination in Ottawa.

« Great hotel just out of town but easy walking distance. »

Friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable room, good breakfast, all in all just what we needed for a short city break. Plenty of things to do and places to eat in the city too. Hotel was on a bus route but we walked everywhere.

    5
« comfortable and close to downtown »

We went for a race weekend, looking for affordable comfort and definitely got that. The room was clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed for sleep before the race. Perfect location to walk back to after the race and relax.

« Good value and quiet »

The hotel is well located next to a lot of good restaurants , within one block .The staff are very knowledgeable as to where the attractions are and how far away . The rooms are large and ours had a fridge and wet bar . The desk staff had pre packaged ice in a large cooler along with some microwaveable meals for late arrivals which I thought a nice touch . The breakfast was good and included . As usual the bed was great .

    5
« Great location and amenities make this a winner »

Stayed here after riding the Greyhound bus from Kingston and it was about a 12 minute walk. The location is quite good -- just across the street is the Canadian Museum of Nature, plus there are many restaurants, bars and services less than a 10 minute walk away along Bank Street and Elgin Street. For people who like to run, it is very easy access to the canal path and you can easily do any number of loops along the canal and through downtown to arrive back to the hotel. The hotel itself is quite good, especially the complimentary breakfast each morning. Food was restocked regularly and there was good variety. The room was well appointed, with a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Room was clean and we had no issues during our stay. Overall it was a great property to stay at and we got good value from the price we paid.

    5
    « Great family getaway »

The hotel is away from all the noise and congestion of downtown core. We still walked to all the attractions we wanted to see. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

    4
« Very good stay , comfortable and clean just minutes from Parliament hill »

Family of 5 stayed two nights in a standard suite . Has separate bedroom with king bed, comfortable pull out couch and they supplied a cot for no charge. Even with the cot the room had lots of space Room was clean and modern. Has mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave. if you wanted to eat in room it has all the glasses dishes etc. Hotel includes a continental breakfast which was very good The hotel is under 10 minutes walk from Parliament and one block from Bank st with lots of mid priced restaurants to choose from Staff were very friendly. Has underground parking but I had a trailer so had to park offsite 2 blocks up the street Has small gym but no pool . Excellent hotel and zero complaints. will definately stay again

« Nice hotel, good breakfest »

We do not travel very often in Canada because the hotels and restaurants are not all the wheelchair accessible. This hotel is very nice and clean. It is also a very attractive hotel to stay in. They are wheelchair accessible but they could do much more to make it easier for people with disabilities.

    1
    « Poor customer service »

After a long drive we were told there was no parking available on site and the best they could do was offer parking four blocks away or at the funeral home across the street for 12.00 per night. The lady that checked us in really dis to care. Never had such poor service at a best western before and his was the most expensive one we ever stayed at.

    5
« Great hotel - two private rooms in one suite »

Stayed at this hotel with 3 other adult family members for one night. Really liked the complete separation of the bedroom and the living room. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent. The downtown location was great. We left our car in the hotel garage and walked everywhere we wanted to go. There was construction on the street where the hotel was located, but our suite on the 8th floor was very quiet and we did not hear any construction noise.

    5
    « Fantastic stay - highly recommended »

Taking my daughter to nearby Carleton University and stayed here three nights. Great in every way! Definitely will be back when we come to visit her during the school year. Hot breakfast, clean well appointed rooms, convenient location. Only they did not have was free parking.

    2
    « Poor Location »

Clean and presentable the hotel was, as were the rooms, but to the centre of Ottawa it is a good 20 minutes walk. The hotel was no coffee shop or bar, so after a days sight-seeing, it affords no chill out, without leaving the hotel and looking for somewhere! The breakfast room is too small, many clients wandering around with a breakfast tray unable to find a table and staff slow to clear the tables of those who had already eaten. Within 400m you will find supermarkets, bars and restaurants, geared very much to the younger generation. Would I stay here again? No!

    4
    « Great Hotel »

Clean rooms, friendly staff and a great hot breakfast buffet each morning. Underground parking is tight but helpful. Have stayed here various times and will continue to come back again. The best part is that this hotel is just steps from the Natural history museum which is a must do if you can spare a few hours. Thanks to the staff front and back. Even when one elevator was being repaired you never noticed any delays in service!

    4
« Best Western Plus Ottawa Downtown Suites, Ottawa, ONTARIO »

The hotel staff were courteous, knowledgeable and pleasant. Check in was fast and the continental breakfast included offered more than enough choices for a good meal. The location was perfect for the meeting I had in the morning.

    « Will go back »

Awesome hotel, breakfast was good, they were friendly & the rooms clean. If u also play pokemon theres about 7 poke stops right across the street & its also near everything... Beds & pillows were comfortable & they have a lil snack store in the hotel & will change American money to Canadian money up to $50.

    « Clean hotel. »

We stayed for the 2nd time at this hotel. Very clean hotel. Nice room with separate living room and bedroom. Good breakfast included. Only complaint is that the separate bedroom only had a queen bed and not a king. Overall a great hotel. Please note that if you have a large vehicle it will not fit in the underground parking. You will have to park approximately 3 blocks away with pass from hotel.

    4
    « Nice place »

We stayed here for 3 days and were very happy with the hotel. Room was nice and big enough to accommodate our family of 4. Breakfast was good and had a great selection. Parked our vehicle (for a fee) and walked everywhere although it was a little bit far from parliament hill and some of the other attractions we wanted to see.

« Exactly what we needed »

As always Best Western has the best locations and always seems to be near the places I need to go. This time a good friend and I were heading to Lansdowne Park for the Ottawa Craft Beer Festival and to show him around as it was his first time in the city. Excellent service from check-in to check-out, reasonable parking rate (for Ottawa), and a great breakfast.

    5
« The Best Ottawa has to offer! »

BW Plus Ottawa Downtown Suites has been a favorite of mine since I discovered it 4 years ago. The property is ideally located, walking distance to a variety of restaurants, essential retail outlets and public transportation. The rooms are large, extremely well maintained and very clean. The staff are absolutely wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast is one of the very best I have encountered. Will definitely return.

    4
« Decent and middle of the road »

No complaints about this stay, average for the price. A bit of a way out of the tourist centres of the city, but still only about a 15 minute drive. Good customer service, no particular extras but fine.

    4
« even in renovation, very good service »

when we arrived and saw that they were in renovation, we regretted booking there, but they were the best in letting us feeling home. They gave free parking . the room was very comfortable and clean. Everything was new, mattress, rug etc. the only thing not expected was that the bathroom was small, but clean. people staff were very polite and friendly. when renovation completed it would be a very nice place to stay, but you can go now because no noise before 8 o clock. i would recommend this hotel

    5
    « EXCELLENT SPOT »

I usually stay closer to the Market when I am in Ottawa, but I decided to try a spot a little farther out, although it was only a pleasant 15 minute walk from Parliament Hill. It was a good choice. The suites are very spacious and well kept. The breakfast which was included was excellent. Finally, the staff were very helpful and courteous. In summary, it was very good value.

    5
    « Beautiful Stay!!! »

Good location, nice suite room, lots of breakfast staff on hand. Very busy weekend, high traffic, slightly tight location with limited parking (but with additional parking across the street). Front desk friendly, smooth service.

    4
« The right chiose for Ottawa »

Hotel, comfortable, clean, just outside of the noise and the center. The room we're perfect, large, with all confort, the breakfast quite good. The distance to the center is approximately 10 minutes walking.

    4
    « Wedding Weeked »

We recently stayed at the Best Western Plus during our wedding weekend as it was at a venue nearby. The hotel was wonderful not just in accommodating us and our last minute needs when we realised we had forgotten stuff, but also our family and friends who were staying there. Rita was incredibly organised and communicative and made sure everything was in order when we arrived. Definitely made a busy weekend less chaotic.

    5
« Best western downtown Ottawa »

Excellent hotel, great location, great staff, easy access to downtown Ottawa. Breakfast exceeded expectations. Good value all around and would certainly return. Near many restaurants and tourist sites.

    4
    « Wonderful hotel stay! »

One of the nicest and most comfortable Best Western Plus hotel that we have ever stayed at. And the downtown location is very convenient...steps away from the Museum of Nature (a must see) and Bank St and Elgin St where all kinds of shops restaurants and amenities are available. We highly recommend a stay here.

« Great place to stay at »

The moment me and my son walked in, Sherri the Manager greeted us with a smile. She was very helpful and she was very friendly. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. It is a 20 minute walk to Parliament Hill/Downtown Core of Ottawa. Also it is 5 minutes from the Food Strip (Elgin St.) where I took my son to St. Louis Bar and Grill for the first time. Overall, I would recommend this hotel other than the fact that the name of the hotel is misleading because it's not EXACTLY DOWNTOWN.

    4
    « Clean and convenient »

Stayed here for just one night on a quick trip to Ottawa. Hotel had underground parking for $20 per night. Breakfast was included. The breakfast room was a zoo! I have never seen one busier. The breakfast was fine. Muffins, fruit, juice...decent. The staff worked quickly to provide seating and replenish food. Comfortable beds as well.

    4
    « My stay »

I was very impressed with the hotel at how clean it was and what it had to offer. Staff were very friendly and responded quickly to services needed. The front desk staff were very accommodating on a visit that was for a sad family event. Hotel is a short 10 minute walk to downtown, and even shorter to Elgin St. This was not an issue for us, but it would be helpful to work on making easier access to the underground garage. Our room key was supposed to open the garage, but we could not get it working even when it was recoded at the front desk. The front desk was able to buzz us in despite this Thank you for a great stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

    5
    « Excellent location »

We spent 3 nights at this hotel. The location is very good to see all of the attractions in Ottawa. It was approximately at 20 minute walk to Parliament Hill. The hotel location is close to all types of restaurants. We booked a suite which was large and clean. The breakfast was fairly good for a hotel breakfast but as others have noted can be very busy. The staff was helpful with all of our questions and even provided us umbrellas on one particularly rainy day.

    5
    « Vacation in Canada »

We stayed one night in this hotel and we appreciated the staff's welcoming. The hotel is near downtown, the room, the bed was confortable, the linen was highest quality, we spent a very good stay, i recommend this hotel

    « Fabulous »

Lovely apartment, great staff, good breakfast although the breakfast room is very busy on the weekend. Good location 20 mins walk to parliament hill with a 6 year old in tow. Highly recommended for families, not a luxury hotel but a good solid 3 star nice and clean too

    « Enjoyable Stay! »

Stayed at the Best Western Plus Ottawa Downtown Suites in August of 2016. The hotel is in fine shape. Our room was clean and the beds were quite comfortable. The air-conditioner kept the room quite comfortable during the heat wave outside. Breakfast was included with our stay and I was quite surprised to find that it was a complete breakfast with many hot and cold choices. We walked to the Parliament buildings which took about 20 minutes. My only complaint would be the parking garage. It is quite small with cramped tight spaces. To maneuver a GMC Sierra in such tight confines was very difficult. I wasn't aware that there was available additional parking in an outdoor lot. Perhaps Best Western could place this parking information on their website so patrons can plan accordingly.

« Another great stay at the Best Western on O'Connor Street in Ottawa »

I always try to stay at this hotel when I am in Ottawa. I really the enjoy the accommodations here and the staff are so friendly. The hotel is located close to everything. I prefer a 8th floor room with a view of the Museum

« Great location, comfortable beds »

We had a good overnight stay at this hotel. Despite the hotel having temporary computer challenges, server was down, staff were lovely. They gave us a great recommendation for a reasonably priced family restaurant close by for dinner. Delicious.

« Beautiful and well kept »

Great family suite , with jacuzzi! Pullout couch , two TVs, microwave and sink with mini fridge. Also decent breakfast with eggs, French toast, sausage , and cereals. Enjoyed the yogurt with trail mix. Seattle Coffee was decent , with two types medium and dark roast. Located right beside the Nature Museum and manageable walk to Parliament buildings with two kids over 5. Good for exercise as well !

    4
    « Clean and spacious »

Hotel was very clean and plenty of room to move around. Lots of utensils in the cupboards but we did not use any because we were there for a very short stay. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of items. Wifi was good. We liked having a separate bedroom. The surrounding streets were somewhat rundown though.

    5
« Great stay, convenient location »

Located about a 20 minute walk from the Parliament Buildings and the Byward Market. The hotel is between Elgin & Bank Streets which have many restaurants. They are also about a 20 minute walk to the Glebe area which also has many restaurants and shops. Our room was very clean and the breakfast was good. When we arrived my son said it was his birthday that day. We went out that night and when we came back they had a gift bag with treats and games for him in the room. Staff was very pleasant.

    5
    « Great Stay »

We were cycling with another couple. This is the second time staying at this hotel and both times we had an excellent experience. The room was big enough, very clean and bright. The hotel is located close to the cycling trail and close to all amenities...the Parliament buildings, restaurants, shopping, etc. Just a great location. The breakfast is very good with lots of choice. It was crowded and sometimes we had to wait in line to t our food; however, this is to be expected during peak season. We were very happy with the underground parking as we knew our vehicle would be safe. Overall, we had a wonderful stay!

    5
    « Had a great stay! »

Didn`t expect such a nice, spacious mini-suite and wonderful breakfast buffet for that price (also parking for CAN 20 + tax/night is reasonable). There is a small bedroom/TV. You also get a roomy living area with sofabed, TV, small kitchenette and a comfortable bathroom. Breakfast is included and it was excellent - waffles were perfect also fruit salad and eggs! Staff was very exerted. To Parliament Building you just have to go straight O`Connor Street for just about 15 minutes. They also offer a penthouse level Fitness Center but we didn`t use. This hotel made our stay a special one!

    5
    « Top Notch ! »

room was lovely , very clean , spacious as were the entire areas that we were in Just a delightful stay , extremely helpful , staff is so knowledgeable & accomodating Underground parking is avaiable for those who need it as we did - everything is so accessible - shopping , entertainment , dining areas - all are within walking distance The coffee bar in the a.m. is a huge aspect of comfort for those in a rush , and the water urn in the front lobby is such an asset to those who are parched after a walk about

    « Trip »

I was happy to be at this hotel for five days. The environment and service are excellent. The continental breakfast was excellent but needs to be more diversified. I plan to visit this hotel if I would have the chance to travel again to Ottawa. I would encourage my friends and family members to stay in at this hotel. However, I would advise the Hotel managers and associates to allow guests having a free parking service at this hotel.

    2
    « Rude staff »

Staff called us about a noise complaint which was not supported, didnt bother to check with us or question us, it was 11 pm we were just talking between adults, yup talking after travelling for 10 hours! We were stunned to receive a call about noise complain and insulted cause we werent loud at all, when I brought the matter to the clerk at check out the next morning, no apologies was made they simply said that some of their clients are more sensitive to noise! Wow! Lol

    4
    « Amazing Service »

The hotel is in a really good location, just around the corner from the museum, which is free after 5pm on Thursdays, which came really handy. It is close to many restaurants and shops and about a 20 minute walk from the parliament building. On arrival, our room was upgraded to a room with a separate bedroom, which was really handy. The breakfast was really tasty and there was a big selection, but it was quite busy at one point, so would recommend getting there a bit earlier. The rooms also come with a kitchenette and dishes, which was helpful! Only downside was the wifi, which was quite poor in our room but decent around the lobby etc. The room was also quite dark but we had a pleasant stay nonetheless.

    5
    « A mini vacation in Ottawa »

We visit Ottawa regularly for a few days or two at a time and can always rely on the quality and service of the Best Western Plus Ottawa Downtown Suites. A bonus is the proximity of the Rideau Canal (great if you plan to cycle), and of the downtown area, as well as The Glebe.

VERY clean room! Modern furniture. Keurig machine in the room with four pods. Nice free breakfast with lots to choose from (bagels, toast, cereal, hard boil eggs, cheese omelette and ham, yogurt, fruit and more). 20-25 minute walk to Parliament Hill. Parking underground cost $25. Would definitely stay here again!

    « Loved the location »

This hotel is located just off the Queensway at the south end of downtown (next door to the Canadian Museum of Nature) in a quiet part of town. Great restaurants close by on Bank and Elgin Street within walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent. The breakfast is one of the better chain hotel breakfasts I have had in awhile. I recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place downtown Ottawa.

« a wonderful stay at a new (to us) hotel »

This was our first time staying at the Best Western, and we will be back! It was just lovely, from making the reservation to arrival and our stay. The staff is very friendly and the hotel in perfect condition. We had a ground-floor room, and there was not a peep of noise, just a lovely sleep. Breakfast was the usual hotel-fare, but plentiful and hot. The only caution is that the parking lot is small, and although we found a spot, it was a tight fit, and the parking is pricey at $20/night.

    « Clean hotel »

The suite we had at this hotel was okay, the dining room was far too small for the number of guests using it, it was a zoo at breakfast, I thought the breakfast was good. Plenty of choices. We should have done our homework it was not as close as we would have liked, it was far too hot to walk.

    « Great Experience »

The Staff was very professional, friendly and welcoming. Room was really clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast was excellent and staff working in the kitchen were very polite and courteous. Location is great and close to all good restaurants and Rideau Canal.

    « Excellent benefits »

Very good reception staff including maids when asked something. Just a little difficult to find a place in the underground car park when you come back late at night. Many people in the morning at the breakfast but normal given the period.

« Great Staff, Great Location »

We stay here every year for a week or two attending Chamberfest. Having a suite really adds to the comfort of an extended stay. The beds are very comfortable. The staff are very friendly, helpful and do a great job. They give the impression that they enjoy working here. The suites are very clean and comfortable. The rates are very reasonable for a suite and the location in the more real, as opposed to touristy, part of the city suites us very well. The hotel is very suitable for families and one block from the natural history museum.

    « Comfortable, quiet, spacious. »

Hotel is close to many restaurants on Bank Street. It's a pleasant, half-hour walk along the Rideau Canal to the Byward Market or Parliament Buildings. Breakfast was slightly above average with a few more options than the usual, but nothing special. Underground parking is about $20 but worth the convenience. Good wifi.

    5
    « Was good. »

The wifi worked perfectly even on the fifth floor. There was no pool. No shuttle service to the parliament so we had to do lots of walking and from the hotel it's a 30 minute walk. Breakfast was very good there was even seating outside to enjoy the lovely weather. The employees were kind and helpful. You have to pay for parking.

« NIce very friendly hotel. »

Staff very friendly, room as expected fro Best Western Plus and breakfast nice. Room nice and clean. Close to local attractions. AC units a bit loud in room but got used to it. Finding spot to stop for initial check-in difficult but underground parking was fine.

This was my first time staying at this hotel . I would recommend it to anyone staying in Ottawa . The rooms are very clean. Staff were very friendly, complimentary breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Great stay.

    « Should be a 5 star hotel! »

Best Western does it again! We came to Ottawa for a wedding and, in spite of being offered a pretty good rate at the hotel where the bride and groom were staying, we chose the BW Plus. For only a few dollars more we had a Junior Suite and were ten minutes away from the church. Fabulous service, great accommodations, our choice of pillows!!! Seriously, if what was on the bed didn't suit, you could call the front desk for 2 or 3 more choices. Oh my! Our suite had a Keurig, a fridge, a jetted tub, large rooms, really comfortable couch and chair and 2 tvs. Underground parking was expensive but worth it to us. Ok, so there's no pool and the saunas are separate, this should still be a five star hotel!

    « A perfect choice »

best quality in town, clean, good personnal, breakfast is very good. Not so much space for parking you're car when you arrived. If you want to have a good time with family it is the place to stay. If you want to have a good time with family it is the place to stay.

« Another comfortable stay away from home »

This hotel is always my first choice when I have to travel to Ottawa. Most amenities are within walking distance; including the Parliament Buildings. The staff always greet you with a smile and love to engage in a little chit chat.

    5
    « Exceptional »

The room was fantastic, the breakfast was amazing and the BW staff always went above and beyond the call to assist. Well done everyone! If you are looking for a place to stay where you can park your car and walk practically everywhere (we did) this is the place. We will definitely be back!!

    « A wonderful stay! »

My boyfriend and I stayed the weekend of Bluesfest in a Single Kingbed Suite! The suite was lovely-it was very clean and it came with a great view! After all the excitement of Bluesfest we ended up wanting to go home early, and we decided to check-out early, most hotels would still charge us considering we left at 8:30pm, but no the hotel staff completely understood, and didn't charge us any extra fees- not for losing a night from us and not for late check-out! I will most definitely stay at this hotel the next time I come to Ottawa, the staff was great and the hotel its self is right in the heart of the city!

« ottawa in the summer »

We stayed in an executive suite room 804 quiet location at the end of the hall. the king bed was very comfortable we asked and received extra coffee for in room use. the breakfast was really good with a good selection of breakfast items. The downside to the stay was they did not advertise the on site laundry facilities, as we were 7 days into a vacation and would have liked to have known there was a laundry. As it turned out we got this information a we were checking out, so we stayed a couple of extra hours and did laundry which had we known we could have done the evening before.

    « Don't use their wake-up call service »

Almost ruined my day, calling me 15 minutes later than I asked. I needed to rush to get the day started, did not even finished my breakfast before rushing out of the hotel. The whole experience was poor. I really don't feel like writing a comment.

    « Another great stay! »

Friendly clean & comfy! Great breakfast. Had a 1 bedroom suite again and we were not disappointed with anything. Walking distance to all. Right off the highway. Underground parking a plus. My place to stay in Ottawa!

    « Efficient and Comfortable »

I was quickly and efficiently processed; offered the rewards program and reminded of the free breakfast. My room was clean, comfortable and welcoming. Toiletries were up scale and much appreciated. Overall a great stay that delivered on its promise. No surprises.

    « Very Nice Hotel »

Great location, clean, very tastefully remodeled hotel with modern features. Would definitely stay here again. Only qualm would be the extra $19/day they charge (not very well stated at time of booking) for parking in the hotel garage.

    « Vacation stay »

It was ok a lot of Construction happening at 7am was woken up with them jack hammering the street so much for sleeping. Was nice place and very central. Would probably stay again as our son is going to school there for the next four years.

    « Fantastic staff »

The hotel is reasonably priced for a downtown hotel. It is within walking distance to all major downtown attractions. The front desk staff are very professional, cheerful, and helpful. My room was exceptionally clean, which I very much appreciated. I wish that all of the hotels that I stay in for business was as clean as this one. My only complaint was the poor set up of the breakfast area, which could not accommodate the hundreds of people eating breakfast, as this was tourist season. The breakfast room could be larger, and set up more efficiently.

    5
    « Nice Stay »

Stayed overnight & enjoyed our stay. Tons to see and do within walking distance. We enjoyed the breakfast very much. Everything we needed was in the room, which was quite comfortable. I think if we return to Ottawa, we would choose to stay at this hotel.

    5
« Best Western Ottawa Survey »

Great place to stay overall. Only complaint was very noisy kids in the hall around 8 am. Woke us up and they carried on for about 10 min. I almost opened the door to say some words to the parents in charge!

    3
« Noisy and needs upgrading »

I stayed at this hotel twice in June. It is a very convenient location for business and has an excellent breakfast offer. The rooms really need an upgrade though. On my first visit, it was particularly noisy and I thought it was due to my room being right next to the intersection. I asked for a quieter room on my second visit and was unlucky to be next to a big group who were staying for a wedding I think ! On my second visit, I had problems getting in the room both days. The access cards didn't work several attempts by reception staff to fix it. Overall, the experience is very average and for the price I can find similar and more modern offers in downtown Ottawa.

« Steps from the Museum of Natural History »

Spacious, comfortable room. Hotel is walking distance to many restaurants. It's a two to three mile walk to Parliament Hill. Museum of Natural History is free after 5:00 PM on Thursday and is right around the corner from the hotel. Breakfast room was crowded and long wait for the elevator during breakfast hours. Breakfast was good.

    5
    « No complaints »

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful - even going above and beyond to help me out when my plans unexpectedly changed at the last minute - and the facilities were clean and comfortable.

    5
    « Faultless stay »

We picked this hotel based on it's location, positive reviews and really reasonable room rates. It was everything we expected and had a thoroughly enjoyable two night stay. Staff were extremely friendly and approachable, Rooms were a reasonable size and the little kitchenette is a bonus, especially the coffee pod machine. Breakfast was plentiful with both hot and cold options, the takeaway mugs are a great idea, allowing you to take your coffee with you if you are short on time in the morning! 15 minutes walk and you are at the parliament buildings and only 5 minutes from the bars and restaurants on Elgin St. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, faultless stay.

  • 3
    « family stay »

In general the stay was ok, however, we suffered from the water shutdown, and lift suspension at the same day, which scared the kids a lot. The parking was inconvenient. The breakfast has very few options.

« Frequent business trips to Ottawa »

My stays at the Best Western Plus Ottawa - Downtown Suites are very frequent, and often require me to be there for more than a week at a time. Although home is always the best place to be, the staff at this hotel make my stays pleasant and comfortable with their wonderful hospitality. The cleanliness, location and amenities of this hotel are paramount and I have recommended this establishment to many of my friends, family and colleagues who now share my opinion!

    5
« Great Location, Super Friendly People, Spacious Rooms for the Whole Family »

This was the second visit to the hotel and the high standards set the first time were repeated again. It was Canada Day weekend and the hotel was super-busy, yet the staff maintained an incredibly high standard of friendliness, patience and competency in every way. The complimentary breakfast in this hotel is fantastic and food is replenished quickly by staff, who also take care to ensure that the breakfast room remains as clean at the end of the breakfast time as at the start. The family suites are huge and easily accommodate a family (even when an additional cot is put in the room) without having to trip over each other. The hotel is easily walkable to all major attractions in Ottawa OR Bank Street (a block away) is one of the main bus routes through downtown with buses every few minutes. Without hesitation, we would recommend this hotel 100%.

    4
« great hotel and service, would recommend and stay again »

My family and I stayed at the hotel for only one night in July 2016. The hotel was nice and clean and service was very pleasant. Our room included a kitchenette which was well stocked with utensils and convenient. Free wi-fi is available and at a decent speed. Their parking lot was full but free parking is available on the street on the weekends. The free breakfast was nice and simple. Available from 7:30 - 10:30. Toast, eggs and cheese, bacon, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, coffee and tea were all available. Unfortunately, there is no pool but there is a YMCA down the street. Located across from the Canadian Museum of Nature and about a 15-20 minute walk from Parliament Hill. Overall a very nice stay. I would recommend it to others and when visiting Ottawa, I would return.

    « Great Canada weekend »

Great place to stay while visiting for Canada Day. Tyler was very helpful with any questions we had. Breakfast was fast and pretty good. It was very busy and the staff did a great job keeping it clean.

    « Great, comfortable hotel »

Stayed here for 2 nights on our trip up the Windsor corridor. Lovely hotel, quick and efficient check in. Room was spacious with small kitchenette area (if you want to prepare microwave meals) and coffee station. Queen bed was very comfy and lovely linen. Bathroom very clean. Breakfast was fine, but very unorganised.. It was like feeding time at the zoo! Plenty to choose from and good selection of teas/coffee. It probably needs a select timing system for guests for it to work efficiently. There is also not not seating available. (Granted we did go during Canada day celebrations, so it's probably more busier then usual) Staff were friendly enough to offer us advice on Ottawa. It's about 15-20 mins walk to Parliament Hill. So pretty close to all the main city stuff.

« Good option for downtown Ottawa »

Stayed one night before taking flight from Ottawa. Close to Bank Street and Ottawa Y. Breakfast included was good. This suite hotel is a good option to more expensive hotels closer to Parliament. Walking distance to lots of restaurants. Will definitely stay here again.

    « Fantastic stay. »

We rolled in after a hot long ride on our Harleys. Pulled in and met Tyler. He was very polite and accommodating to us. He answered all our questions, gave us dinner coupons. Suggested great things to see and do.he could not do enough for us. We had a beautifully decorated comfortable rooms. This hotel was fabulous. The people were great. Breakfast was very yummy and a good variety. All the employees were very well dress and polite. This is what hotel is suppose to be like. I hope the rest of our trip is as good as this best Western. Thanks guys.

    « Very Good »

1 day stay. Nice room. Free wifi. Comfy bed. Clean bathroom. Friendly reception. Nothing fancy. But you get everything you need. Walking distance to downtown. I love this type of functional well-kept hotels. I guess I found my hotel in Ottawa close to the centre.

    « Sad Occasion »

I chose this hotel because it was across the street from the funeral home where my son laid in rest. I had booked it late at night in my exhaustion and grief. When we arrived I was amazed at the courteous and efficient staff. The suite came complete with living room, kitchenette and bedroom which the website pictures did not do justice. The breakfast each morning was also plentiful with hot and cold options and a pleasant staff member. I would definitely stay here again, hopefully under better circumstances the next time.

« Second stay here and was awesome. »

Lovely place which specializes in suites! You can't go wrong with this hotel. Everything is first-class and top notch. Breakfast included is top of the line, with fresh fruit salad, hot items, etc. We will certainly come again.

    5
    « Awesome! »

From the moment you check in, the staff makes you feel like you are the best visitor they have ever had. Our room was a suite. Nice layout with a kitchenette styled area. Sink, fridge, microwave, dishes etc. The air conditioning was new, easy to use and effective. Breakfast was included and they had everything that you would want for breakfast. If you missed it (over by 9:30) you could pick up a bottle of water, granola bar and fruit at the front desk for no charge. We stayed for 3 nights and loved coming home in the evening. Staff were awesome! Parking underground or just a few blocks away for larger vehicles. (our truck was too high for underground)

    « Did not disappoint! »

We were in Ottawa to sight-see for 4 nights, and tend to go with Best Western. Sometimes we use airmiles, sometimes we don't. This one we used points. Very comfortable hotel, great staff (special mention to Jessica!), and great breakfast (I liked sitting out on the patio to read the paper). Close to Elgin which has great restaurants and pubs, e.g The Sir John A, the Lieutenant's Pump. Close to other nice restaurants too! The rooms have a tiny "kitchenette" (fridge, microwave, glasses, dishes, cutlery), and to that end, there is big Loblaws not too far south of the hotel, as well as an nice independent grocery nearby on Banks. There is also a liquor store nearby on Banks. It was an easy and interesting walk downtown to Parliament Hill (I think 1.5 km one way, but I like to walk). I can't speak on parking, as we took the bus from the airport, and walked mostly everywhere (best take a cab if going to the train station-easier, and about $11.00).

    « Hidden gem »

We were coming to Ottawa for two nights during our vacation and the hotels I have stayed at in the past were astronomically expensive for those dates. After some looking around I found this Best Western and although I was initially hesitant due to some bad experiences with best Western hotels in the states years ago, I decided to give it a shot based on the reviews. I'm so glad I did! For half the price some hotels were charging for regular rooms, we got a Queen Suite - living room larger than many hotel rooms, plus separate bedroom and a kitchen area. The hotel was very clean, rooms were very nicely appointed, everything felt above the star level of the hotel. Having a large-size bar fridge and dishes helped when travelling with the kids too. It's not *right* downtown, but it's just over a km away - an easy walk. We walked the few blocks over to the canal and followed that into downtown which made for a great start and end to the days. Every employee we dealt with was exceptionally friendly and helpful as well. We'll definitely come back next time we're in Ottawa.

    5
« Room and area worked for us. »

Rooms were clean and well kept. Mini suite, so walking area in room is limited but fine for two people. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Staff at front desk were very welcoming and eager to answer all our questions. Love it when people greet you with a smile. Breakfast was great, plenty to eat. There was no pool, unfortunately. Overnight parking cost a little high but gladly paid it to have our vehicle in a safe place. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others as well.

    4
« Not in the tourist area, but close enough »

Stayed there while visiting our son and his family. Chose it for the location which is near his. Spacious rooms that are well appointed and clean. Breakfast is included and it is your standard hotel breakfast bar. Staff were very personable and helpful. Too bad we had to check out on the Saturday as the entire property was sold out for the weekend. A block off Bank Street.

    « Event weekend »

Great weekend. went too UFC Fight night had a great weekend stay. the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Location was great everything was in walking distance of TD Center, we enjoyed are stay very much and would do it again.

« Close to major attractions »

This hotel was very clean and the staff were very courteous. The hotel is a block away from the Museum of Natural History. It is a 20 minute walk from the stadium if there is a CFL game. 10 minute drive from the main attractions of Parliament, Supreme Court, War Museum, Art Museum. 15 minutes from the Gov't General's residence. To see Parliament Buildings, Supreme Court, Bytown Market it would be best to park behind the Basilica. There is the city bus that is a block away or one can rent a car at the airport if you wish to be more independent with getting around. Ottawa is a clean city and yet has many interesting shops. Bytown Market is a nice change to walk around and often seen vendors who have made various forms of art. Must try a Beaver Tail, it is so good. Elgin street which is 2 blocks away from the hotel has many restaurants that one can choose from.

    « Over night stay »

« Great breakfast, great location! »

The hotel is conveniently located near shopping, bars and a full range of restaurants. A full hot breakfast is included. I wish I'd had time to visit the Museum of Nature right next door, but I did have time to sit in the park and take in some sun and the beauty of the prairie grasses garden.

    « Good location n helpful staffs »

Room is clean, I am at the 508 two evenings from 12-13th June with my family. We requested for 4 bedrooms n the staffs are friendly. The price is reasonable n breakfast is good, no swimming pool but 2 blocks away there is YMCA with a public pool. The sauna room is very clean but little bit small. 4 minutes taxi riding to Chinatown. Lots of eatery over there! I shall recommend my friends to stay there.

    « May Long Weekend »

We stayed for one night during the long weekend in May to see the Tulip festival. The room was lovely, it had a sitting room with couch, chair, tv, and desk for writing, and a separate bedroom, so could easily accommodate a family with young children, etc. Everything was very clean and the kitchenette was a nice bonus....fridge, microwave and plates/'bowls and silverware. The hotel is situated in a nice residential area within walking distance to restaurants. Front desk staff very pleasant. Continental breakfast included. Underground parking was available at a cost of $20 per night..the only downfall, otherwise you take your chances and park on the street. Would definitely stay here again!

    4
« Great location, helpful staff »

Stayed for two nights in June 2016. Room was very good, as was the location of the Hotel with easy some attractions nearby and many with within walking distance. Staff were helpful, good complimentary breakfast. Would use this hotel again.

« Perfect location for visitors who are happy to walk 20-30 minutes downtown »

Our room was clean and well furnished, with a very comfortable bed. The suites come with microwave, sink, coffee maker and fridge. Staff without exception were pleasant and efficient. Reception staff were very helpful with local information. We would definitely recommend this hotel, and consider staying here again. There is a good selection of restaurants in easy walking distance.

    4
    « A good downtown option »

I was in Ottawa for a meeting and didn't want to pay the high prices of a hotel nearer Parliament Hill and I was looking for the Best Western name. This hotel is centrally located - i was able to walk to Parliament Hill within 15-20 minutes. My suite had a wetbar, seating area and separate bedroom. The room was a bit dark, perhaps because it was on the main floor of the hotel. The room was clean and perfectly adequate for my needs. Excellent dining options a short walk away. Would definitely stay here again on future Ottawa trips!

    5
    « Home from home »

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the last two years and their suites are like a home from home. Clean comfortable and well located. The staff are friendly and helpful and their is breakfast included if you want it.

« 20 minute walk to Parliament Hill. »

Convenient location, 2 blocks from Elgin Street. So many great restaurants to chose from. Very good breakfast included in price. Also, the room had a frig and micro. The staff was very friendly and it was quiet at night for sleeping. Around the corner from hop off and on stop and Museum of Natural History.

    5
« Good location and comfortable rooms »

Location was very good in a nice area and quite. Very close to the Museum of Natural History. Our room was fine according with the photos and comfortable. The personnel was fine and we have a pleasant stay.

    « One-night pre-exam stay »

I came to Ottawa for a big exam and stayed here the night before. They made sure I had a quiet room. The next morning, despite being too early for the complimentary breakfast at 6:30am, not only do they offer a mini grab-bag for people who miss breakfast, but the desk man also went into the kitchen and threw in a couple of muffins for good measure. And when I came back later that day to retrieve my luggage, when I asked if there was a place I could change out of my suit, they even offered me to use the fitness center changeroom/shower upstairs. I would recommend this place to anyone on business.

« Some Good, Some Not So Good »

Stayed one night and attended two meetings at this hotel. The good stuff about the Best Western on O'Connor: the rooms are large, the hotel is very quiet, the bed is super comfortable and there's a Keurig coffee machine in the room. The catering is superior: the food is very good. The not so good stuff: the whole place is a little shabby; there was only one elevator in service and was very congested; the room locks are old and fail for no reason. I had to call for a maintenance guy to come and open my room for me. Not what you'd expect for a $200/night room. I asked for, and got, a discount because of the inconvenience.

    4
« Good location west downtown »

Too bad the bedroom air conditioner is so noisy. The king suite is roomy, comfortable well equipped with mini-fridge, microwave oven, two TV's. Good breakfast with lots of space. Parking, underground is an additional charge. The jetted tub was a welcome luxury, in the king suite.

« Good clean hotel..reasonably close to eateries and the cities attractions. »

Arrived in Canada ..Cool..by coach..pulled up outside excellent because it was raining lightly. Our group from Australia..mustered in lobby..okay in size..bigger than some smaller than others..room cards handed out smoothly..lifts average size and speed.. Room was clean..two queen beds very comfortable..( have not had a bed on tour) the pillows for some reason are very soft in this part of the world..not a fan. Good TV..good bathroom..best shower controls amongst a confusing lot on our tour. Good breakfast..always found a seat and a good selection..top marks for that.. Easier walk to a large selection of eateries..all levels.. Main city a good walk..but the exercise is good..no doubt uber would be a good choice in ordinary weather. Ottawa..a nice Capital city..a lot better than some in the US..

« Ottawa two night stay »

Everything about the hotel was great. The staff were very friendly from front desk to cleaning staff , terrific delicious above average breakfast, parking was good, clean room was a suite with kitchenette that was fully stocked, very comfy bed, walking distance to downtown. Loved everything about the hotel. There was only one elevator working because they are working on one but we often used the stairs. Highly recommended!

    « Fantastic stay! »

I was very impressed with this hotel. Best Western is not usually a chain I consider. This particular hotel however was outstanding. The hotel is very clean, recently renovated and has the friendliest staff I have experienced from the front desk to the cleaning staff. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable with great towels. The complimentary breakfast is above average for being complimentary. The air was a bit stale in the room at first but the window does open a little (it is screened) and I liked being able to open the window. The location is within walking distance of Parliament Hill. The walk to Byward Market is more of a walk but very doable for most people. The area that the hotel is in is not touristy. That can be good if you want to eat where the locals eat, but like I said the restaurants of Byward Market are further out. I would stay here again!

Everything about this hotel is great. Wonderful hot/cold breakfast. Wonderful comfy beds with large TVs with full cable. Great location close to everything. « Great Location, Helpful staff »

Good location ? about 10-15 min walk to the central area of Ottawa. We found the room too hot but that might be down to not using the controls. Room size was good. Unfortunately we had very noisy neighbours that woke us up. Nice clean room. Underground parking available.

« Very nice and convenient »

I just needed to stay one night in Ottawa and wanted to book through Air Miles. I initially "trapped" into the misleadingly named "City Centre" Best Western, but was able to change it. I am so happy I was indeed able to change. Maybe the "City Center" place is nice too, but this one definitely was worth it - and actually cost fewer Air Miles than the other place. Room was large and very clean, and of course the location is hard to beat if you have business downtown: you just walk there! I also liked that check-out time was 12 noon, and they had underground parking. The included continental breakfast was a very nice, and popular, buffet with a great variety of choices. Could even be a brunch. A couple of negatives: the parking was actually quite expensive ($19.95/day, or $12 if outdoors), which of course felt like a lot compared to the $21 I had to pay for the room by using the air miles! Also, the aircon unit is one of these older, noisy, ones. But I'll still stay here next time I go to Ottawa! TIP: If you have to return your rental car at YUL airport, there are no gas stations near the airport coming from Ottawa. The closest is the Petro-Canada station you see on the side of Hwy 40 after you got on the Montreal island.

« Hard place to get into and other things! »

Booked this hotel as for it was around the corner from a job I was doing. To go the block and half to the hotel almost took me 20 minutes due to the heavy one way traffic of people getting onto a major highway. The entrance to the hotel is of course on this one way street and also had construction in front of it. Small underground garage -- if you have an SUV -- not sure where you would park. You will be dinged a few to park in their garage -- so heads up on that. Only two elevators and one was not working due to "modernization" Long waits for elevator -- Room was clean and tidy, however backed into what seemed like a motorcycle shop and a local Hells Angles club house. Non stop revving of motorcyle "pipes" until approx 10:30pm. Wifi was slow and spotty. If you can afford to stay downtown -- do it ! I won't be back

« Wonderful stay for the Ottawa Marathon »

My family and I stayed for two nights at the Best Western for the Ottawa Marathon. The staff treated the runners wonderful - they had course maps printed for each race, welcome letters to the runners and catered to earlier breakfast times! The room was great and the location was perfect (easy 10min walk to start line) but it was the customer service that was beyond exceptional. We chose to park in their provided "public parking" lot and received a ticket (not at the error of the hotel) the first night; I was sure it was going to be a huge bother to get it straightened out but when I presented it to the front desk they immediately handled it at no inconvenience or cost to myself! Great! We also left two items in our hotel room, I emailed to tell them and let them know that only one of the items had sentimental value and asked if they could mail it to me (I was willing to pay if necessary!!) - I didn't ask them to mail the second item as it was heavy and could easily be replaced. Well, what a nice surprise it was 3 days later for BOTH items to arrive on my doorstep; that is customer service! Going above and beyond to make sure their guests are happy! We would definitely stay again!

« Good location. Good room. Good service »

Good location. Good room. Good service. Good breakfast Near dowtown. 10 min Walk to downtown Staff bilingue, police and well informed. We were there for the may race event. and for the runes they fie the breakfast 1,5 hours earlier for our convinience. Tanks for the staff.

« Friendly service, great location and excellent value! »

We checked in for Ottawa Marathon weekend ... front desk was friendly, helpful and efficient. We ended up in a nice suite with a TV room with couch and desk to work at and a small kitchenette area with fridge and sink plus separate bathroom and separate bedroom with its own TV as well. We were very pleased with the accommodations, the breakfast buffet and the quality of the wifi. Plus free apples at the front desk! All in all been a great stay! Oh it's also within easy walking distance of downtown which we also appreciate! I would definitely book here again!

    « Visiting Ottawa »

Excellent location downtown Ottawa, close to restaurants and attractions. Gitano, Sherri and Jessica, in the front desk, were very attentive and knowledgeable helping us find out about the area. Breakfast is simple and good, plenty to eat. The room overall and bathroom are clean, but the carpets are not, they need a good cleaning. I would go back.

« Experience with BW Plus Ottawwa Downtown Suites »

I booked and stayed in the hotel for 1 night during the Canada Victoria long weekend. Here is my review if my entire experience with this hotel from making reservation to checking-in the hotel. Reservation: When I called the BW reservation center to book this hotel, I specifically told them I will have 5 people (3 adults and 2 kids). The reservation center told me that they can find a room for me that will fit the total number of people plus an roller bed. However, when I got to the hotel, that was a different story. The front counter told me that they don't have any suite available that can fit a roller bed due to fire hazard. One person was ended up sleeping on the floor. Hotel room: Smaller than expected. Since we were not stay in there the whole time, we were okay with it. Nice wet bar in the room Cleanliness of the room: Acceptable. Washroom: Feel clean. The shower is very good. Water was decently strong when taking a shower. Enough supply in the washroom. Towels were clean. Hotel lobby: Don't expect a "grand" lobby in a 3.5 stars hotel. It was pretty clean and felt inviting. Hotel restaurant: Great continental breakfast. I enjoyed it very much. It had a number of hot food items like bacon, egg with cheese, toast. During breakfast time, the line up was long. If you plan to eat breakfast there, get there early. When I was there around 9am, the line up was almost out the door. Hotel staffs: Friendly. The front desk agents were very helpful and always had a great smile. Hotel parking: They have underground parking with additional $20 charge. Hotel wifi: They have wifi connection. However, it will drop once in awhile. Overall: I am satisfy with this hotel. Reasonable price for this 3.5 stars hotel. It has other food choices around the hotel if you like to explore other restaurants. You will need to drive if you want to go to Parliament Hill and all the areas around Byward Market. The location of this hotel is not too close to these areas. I will stay there again next time when I go back to Ottawa.

    « Great location »

The location was very good convenient to downtown. Long walking distance to Parliament buildings. The cover page is deceiving though. I thought we might be near water because of the photo but we not over the canal. There was no view of the water from our suite even though the desk clerk said our view would be looking at the canal from our top floor. There were 2 elevators and one didn't work. The other sometimes didn't work so we got our exercise going down and up to our 8th floor room. The breakfast was o.k. but chaotic. The toaster was olaced in a corner that stopped up the traffic flow. Everyone was very nice. It would have been nice to have something available during the day like coffee and fresh cookies. The museum was close and had some wonderful exhibits esp. the dinosaur exhibits. Overall verygood place to stay.

« Always satisfied with Best Western »

Best Western is a convenience place in the walking distance to downtown Ottawa. rooms are very clean, pillows are so comfy. Staff at the reception are so friendly and pleasant to deal with. Their breakfast is so delicious and it's included in the price. I like the fact that you have a mini fridge in the room. Best Western is my favourite hotel whenever i am in Ottawa. I had to extend my check out time for an hour and the staff were the most accomodating front desk ever.

« Good location and comfortable stay »

Location is nice and rooms are very comfortable. We booked a 2 double beds room but we got a single bed and a crib for child. We were coming from a long trip so realized it much later. We reached late on long weekend so parking garage was full. Had to park 5mins away but it was ok. Breakfast is a good add-on.

« Comfort and convenience location »

A convenience place in the walking distance to the Greyhound bus station and the center of Ottawa, walking distance to Parlament. Nice room with microwave and etc. Though few restaurant nearby, one may walk to the downtown to have eat.

    « Never Disappoints ! »

We stayed here last week for 2 nights. Friendliest and most accomodating front desk ever. Beds are so comfy and rooms are so quiet. Very walkable to local restaurants. We love the proximity to Bank & Elgin Streets & downtown. Breakfast is busy but very efficient. Parking is tight but on site. This is our "go to hotel " in Ottawa when we come to visit our son at Carleton U.

    « Great like location! »

Best Western Plus Ottawa Downrown Suites is a very well located hotel. Near downtown, walking distance to Parlament, Sparks street, the By Ward Market, and shopping. A nice hotel very clean, great breakfast and well informed and pleasant receptionists.

    « Comfort and location »

Nice older mid-sized hotel in Centretown, Ottawa. The location is perfect. You can easily walk to most sights of importance. Decor is a bit dated but the room was super clean. Very quiet, hardly any noise from hallways. Did not hear a peep from neighbours. Double beds were very comfortable. Nice bedding...lots of good quality pillows. Excellent quality towels, nice bathroom. It was great to have a patio door that opened wide allowing a bit of fresh air. Good climate control in the room. Complimentary Wifi worked like a charm. Good breakfast, included in room price. The staff were all very pleasant with special mention to the young man that checked us in and out. Luggage storage in a secure room is available as is parking for a reasonable fee.

    5
« Good hotel, centrally located, and breakfast »

I got a two-double bed room. It was a nice hotel, centrally located. 2 minutes walking to bank street. 12-15 minutes walking to parliament hill. Relatively close to Chinatown and Little Italy. Parking is nice, just get $20 parking from the hotel, self park underground unlimited in and out, just swipe your room card. The breakfast was a buffet type with cereal with fresh fruit, eggs, sausage/meat, toast, coffee, tea, juice. The receptionists and staffs was friendly and accommodating. The only positive criticism I'd like to give is that the air-conditioner was located just next to the second bed, and it was super cold (we didn't set it in low temperature), so I ended up cover the AC with an extra blanket found in the drawer. problem solved though.

« Spacious room with separate bedroom! »

Excellent & friendly service. The living-room was very large with a comfortable [yes!] pullout couch. The bathroom was a normal size but the counter was over 5 feet long; loads of room for everyone's toiletries! King bed in a separate bedroom with a door that closed; excellent for those travelling with snorers :) Least appealing: breakfast is included which gets you started for the day. Quality not very good but if you can manage with a piece of fruit, some cereal, toast -- it will get you out the door. Adult son used exercise room & sauna and pronounced both just fine.

« Excellent hotel location for Ottawa visit »

Exit off Highway 417 is just blocks away from hotel. Leaving hotel south on OConnor (1 way) to 417 is extremely convenient. Access to parkway along Rdeau Canal is very easy. Walk north to Parliament Buildings and Sparks St can be done within 15 minutes. Staff at desk, breakfast room and looking after your room are all first class. Parking lot (2 basement levels) is very good for a normal sized car. At $20 a day it is fairly priced-very secure with elevator access to your suite.

    5
« Very clean, great service, very affordable! »

One the the nicest rooms I've stayed at in Ottawa. Stayed in a mini-suite with separate bedroom and kitchenette at no extra charge, very clean, excellent service and very friendly staff, fabulous complimentary breakfast. Will stay here again!

« Friendly and courteous staff plus very comfortable accommodations. »

    « Fine stay »

Quick one night business trip. Certainly adequate. Rooms not too big but clean. Staff at desk friendly and helpful. Situated one block from nature museum. One elevator was out but still worked quickly. Plenty of information of what to do in town available.

    « Hotel is good »

The hotel is good, but the breakfast is poor, no room service for the food, but other facilities are good, the location seems perfect and nice and accessible to many restaurants and shops, the staff is nice and friendly, although some of them was not helpful, but rest is OK

    3
« Good Room and Breakfast »

Although a bit off the beaten path, this hotel has friendly staff, well-appointed rooms and a generous complimentary breakfast. The internet is a bit slow and the heating/cooling is loud and annoying. Overall, a good stay.

« Under staffed and over worked at what should have been a tried and true brand. »

    - safety issues were unable to be addressed within 24 hrs; e.g. no working phone in the room and tub/shower safety bar loose and unusable. - room was not serviced for 6.5 hrs although our reservation was for three nights. We left at 9am returned at 3:30 tired from touring and found the room still not serviced. - very limited options for handicapped parking, initial suggestion was three blocks away! A trainee on duty did resolve this prior to check in. - staff were pleasant and tried hard, but hotel desperately needs to "staff up" for peak periods to meet minimum customer expectations for service. How can it be there was no spare telephone in the whole hotel?

    « Three night stay »

Easy walking to downtown, great staff, nice hot breakfast, nice clean rooms. Really enjoyed our stay. This was my second time at this hotel and I will definitely will be back! Does not have a restaurant but there are many in the area. To go downtown you can just leave your car parked, which saves you from trying to find a parking spot downtown. Parking is underground, and you have to go to the desk first in order to get your room key which allows you access the garage.

    « Great Experience »

We booked into this hotel and Jessica at the front desk checked us in. She was such an excellent person to deal with and so friendly. A great asset to the team. « Average »

Breakfast: Was very basic. There wasn't much variety and not enough fresh options. The floors of the breakfast room were disgusting - they needed a good wash and it was the same every morning so I assume no one cleaned it during our stay here. Room: The room seemed clean. The bed however was extremely uncomfortable - it was a very soft mattress and small. This is a deal breaker for us. I saw another room and the bed was also just as soft, so I dont think you have much options when it comes to the type of mattress here. The cleaning service comes to clean the rooms early - they came in to ours before 9 am, so if you want to sleep in, make sure to put a sign on your door. Location: The location is decent. You are close to Elgin Rd which has a lot of restaurants. Easy walking distance. You could go for a longer walk to the Byward market - about 30min from hotel. Parking: is not free. It was +- 20 dollars a day. I would probably not stay here again and rather look for something slightly better kept.

    « Great overall experience »

Hotel is in a great location, walking distance to parliament and all the restaurants downtown. Our room was very clean, modern, spacious and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was a great inclusion and the food was quite good and was a good selection. The parking under ground is a bit tight if you have a big SUV. Would recommend to anyone staying on business or visiting the capital.

    « Overall Great »

Great staff, clean rooms, and amenities! Breakfast was great, but very busy. Unfortunately I was top floor and the elevators were broken, which made for a long walk up and down. Parking was $20.00/night which was a bit pricey to stay on site, and our room had an adjoining room that was a bit rowdy, but all in all, great stay.

    5

    « A Great Downtown Ottawa Option »

Literally seconds from the Queensway, hwy 417. We had a two room suite, which was great. We booked the Express Deal on Priceline. Roughly a 20-30 walk to Parliment Hill. Bank street is one block to the west. Onsite underground parking was wonderfull, cost was around $20 per night . You could come and go no problem. Breakfast was very good. Lots of helpful, and polite staff members keeping things stocked and clean. Many shops and restaurants within walking distance.

    « Pleasant enough stay »

Parking was available for an additional approx. $20 + tax per night. Check in was fast and efficient. It was a good sized room with a double bed, armchair, desk and chair. There was a large flat screen television (40-50inch possibly) on top of a large drawer unit and an alarm clock on the bedside cabinet with docking for ipods. There was a small fridge, microwave, plates and cups and a small sink. The bathroom had the normal toilet, sink and bath with overhead shower. Laundry and ice machines were located in the basement/parking level. It was difficult to get the room temperature right (it felt too hot or too cold), it may have been because some hotels had not yet turned their air con on yet due to the cold outside. It was a little noisier than preferred, you could hear noise from the room next door, the doors slamming closed, bottles on trollies and some beeping from horns from outside. They had advised to leave towels on rails to reuse them in order to reduce environmental impact, but there were no rails to hang them! Complimentary cookies were provided near the tea, but they weren't replaced when eaten. The corridor area went from being cold one day to really hot the next. There was a bleach smell from some of the towels. The duvet didn't have a cover but was in between sheets, but it would often slide off and there was a rustling when moved (cotton duvet with a cover would have been better). Breakfast was standard but it would have been good if it was all labelled to easily identify instead of having to ask staff. It was an approx. 20min drive to Tanger outlets, but it took over an hour due to bad weather and rush hour traffic ? so better to go off peak if you do plan on going.

    « A valuable hotel »

I booked it on Hotwire for $60 per night (not including fee and tax). At that price, it's a relative cheap but comfortable hotel. WiFi is fast enough. A minor problem is there is a pause when switching TV stations, and the housekeeping may come early in the morning. But nothing major. Will definitely recommend to travelers.

« A Great PLace To Stay in Ottawa »

« Roomy suites and awesome breakfast »

Stayed in a King suite with my husband for 3 nights while in Ottawa watching the Brier at TD Place. We loved this hotel- we booked fairly far in advance of the event so it was very reasonably priced. The location was great- was a bit of a hike to TD Place but still doable and is also a block from the bus on Bank St. The living room area and bathroom were both huge while the bedroom was average sized. The bed was extremely comfortable. The decor was nothing special but the room was clean. I really liked the card you could leave for the housekeeping staff specifying what you wanted cleaned and when you wanted the room cleaned -- even when we didn't leave the hotel until the afternoon the room still got cleaned once we left (which has been a problem at other hotels). There was a bit of a lack of storage space-- no dresser in the bedroom (it was in the living room doubling as the TV stand, but this was mostly full of linens/pillows for the sofa bed) and not much space in the bedroom closet (however, there was an additional closet in the living room). This was literally the only thing that wasn't great. The breakfast area (both the serving area and seating area) were very spacious, with the best selection of food (both quality and variety) of any hotel breakfast buffet I've been to. We didn't need to use the parking so can't comment on that. Would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to anyone wanting something centrally located with lots of space.

    « Great stay! »

I really enjoyed this hotel. The room was average sized, but it had a kitchenette, which came in vary handy as I have a toddler that is constantly asking for food, so I was able to wash his utensils without a problem. It is also conveniently located, (which was the main reason we chose it) close to all major attractions and within walking distance to the Canadian Museum of Nature. Beds were comfortable and the room was kept clean and coffee and sugar constantly replaced before we ran out of it. The only thing I disliked was the fact that there are not enough seats during breakfast. We went during Easter weekend and although the hotel did not seem fully booked the breakfast room was always full. On the first day we had to take our breakfast upstairs which is very inconvenient (and embarrassing) and it doesn't allow you to get anything else if you do not get full with what you took upstairs to your room. On the second day we went down early because we were checking out and we were able to find seats. However, by the time we were finished, the breakfast room was already full. Although it is big, I do think they need to expand it a bit more somehow. On the other hand, staff were very helpful and accommodating and I must say the indoor parking, although expensive is very useful, especially in the cold weather.

« Will be better once the elevator gets fixed »

This hotel comes close to ideal for business travellers, sports teams, and families getting together. The location in central Ottawa is very convenient and not noisy, the rooms are large and comfy, the daily rate economical, the internet complementary and reliable, the breakfast room bright and well organized, the hotel staff friendly. We had two problems: the room key card kept getting cancelled by mistake and the second elevator was under repair the entire time. When the elevator gets fixed and the problem with the key cards getting cancelled are fixed, this place will certainly deserve six stars out of five!!

« Great hotel, good value, good staff, quiet location »

I had booked a normal double room but as I was staying a week, they upgraded me to a one room suite. Bathroom was always clean with plenty of towels and toiletries. Would have been nice to have a proper full size bath but the shallow bath is a common North American thing so no real complaints. Main living area had a kitchenette, sofa and TV. Outside temperature got down to -25C but the room was always warm and comfortable. The kitchenette was well stocked with tea and coffee, plates and cutlery, there was a half size fridge freezer as well. Additionally a full size desk with a nice office chair and a large flat screen TV. The whole area was used but clean. The bedroom had its own smaller TV, the bed and pillows were comfortable and clean. All the fixtures and fittings, lights, hot water, air-con, TV's etc., worked. I had a bulb go during my stay and the on site custodial staff had it changed in a few minutes. The hotel has a free breakfast with good choices and a little mini shop for sweets, snacks and drinks that was open 24hrs. Internet was free and my login was set up for 4 devices when I checked in. Staff really were excellent, very friendly and helpful. As a visitor from out of country, they gave me some good advice on wrapping up for the weather. They also had a range of menus both in room and at reception to order in food, there is no onsite bar or restaurant. The location is about 20 minutes walk away from the centre but in between two main streets, where there is a huge variety of food available within 5-10 minutes walk. There is a 24hr diner 5 minutes walk away on Elgin. Similarly, the Manx pub on Elgin is a little hard to find and underground but is a great place to go for a good variety of snacks and beer in a slightly bohemian atmosphere. You have to go down to the basement parking level for ice, the machine is in the laundry. There are only two staff on the front desk, who also provide concierge services so there were couple of times when I had to wait for service. In summary, perfect for a longer stay, great and friendly staff, good clean rooms. If I was only staying for a night or two, then I might choose a full service hotel downtown, but any longer and this is the hotel to stay in, in Ottawa.

    « Wonderful location »

The location of this hotel was perfect for me. It was on a residential street between two more commercial streets that had wonderful restaurants and small shops. It was easily within walking distance of many of the 'tourist' attractions such as art galleries, history museum and parliament. The rooms had a microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot. There is underground parking at the hotel which was wonderful because like every capital city the street parking is very limited. The staff was wonderfully welcoming whether they were the reception desk, house keeping or kitchen.

« Super for young family »

Two adults and two kids were very comfortable in a one room suite. Staff were very helpful - brought up a crib for us. Didn't try the breakfast because we were going to brunch elsewhere. This was the second time I stayed at the Best Western Park Victoria. I appreciate it's llocation, walking distance to many restaurants and amenities. The rooms are comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. They have a very nice hot breakfast included in the room rate. The rooms are just as nice as some of the more pricey hotels in Ottawa's downtown core. For Ottawa, it's good value for your money. I will stay here again.

    « Hotel in Centretown »

This hotel is close to downtown you can either walk or grab a bus ride. Underground parking, carefull parking lots are small especially if you are renting a mini van or SUV. The best (best western...) breakfast I have encountered with this chain. Gym is on the last floor and have windows, a luxury. On a corner even more rare you will have sight two ways.

I really liked the suites at Best Western Plus Ottawa Downtown Suites. nice to have a bedroom, living room and kitchenette. It is very helpful to have a living room for side or evening meetings. The staff was friendly and helpful. the Conference rooms were really good and the food served at the conference was excellent. Only thing is i found it far away from the downtown core. Free wifi.

« Indoors for a week due to bad weather »

The room was small, (like the hotel) not a suite but very practical and well appointed. Abundant coffee and breakfast and staff tried to be helpful and were personable and pleasant. Small inconveniences such as one elevator, (stairs were fine since only 7 floors) staff gave poor recommendations for surrounding restaurants, (E.g., fake Thai) and told me in advance about surprise flowers in my room and did not think to provide a vase. But overall, it was a very convenient place to stay and the staf sincerely tried to accomodate. Breakfast room is institutional but food is great in terms of quality, variety and freshness. Good value and no hassles except room cards kept demagnitizing.

Best Western Suites on O'Connor in Ottawa was an immaculate experience of great service, total cleanliness, and genuine hospitality. We were tired from travelling and had a great rest. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the room was clean. The breakfast was more than I expected, so we were very satisfied with our stay. Also, the price was reasonable. I liked the fact that the Globe and Mail newspaper was provided each morning.

    « Very Clean »

The hotel was much smaller than I thought, but I guess that how it is in Ottawa. The beds in hotels usually gross me out. This one...not at all. Very clean! We went for a concert at TD stadium...with our ticket we were allowed to ride on the public trans for free...it was very close, could have walked if it was a bit warmer.

We chose this location as it was close to TD Place and we'd stayed earlier, going to the playoffs with Ottawa 67. After 1st night stay coffee cups reduced to 2 from 5 and coffee supplies reduced also, room cleaned by 1:00. Same occurred 2nd night. Went out morning of 3rd night came back to room at 1:00 room wasn't cleaned, stayed in room as wife had a back pain, at 2:30 they came to do the room. Why it was so late is beyond us ? Isn't 3:00 the allowable check in time, cleaning lady was very nice, very apologetic however they were aware we were staying another night, WHY WASNT THE ROOM CLEANED AT THE REGULAR TIME, everything else was excellent however we wont stay there again

    « Average hotel »

Just an average hotel but good value for the money. About a 10 minute drive from the downtown core of Ottawa. Rooms were clean, comfy beds and breakfast included was a plus. Downside? The $20 parking a day at the hotel...nothing in the general area within short walking distance for food, Starbucks around the corner but that's it.

    « Nice Place »

Went there with two friends for a week-end without kids and husbands. Very nice hotel, clean, nice beds, we enjoyed a lot the suite with the sofa bed (3 ladies), and a good size of room. Pleasant to have fridge into the room and wine glasses.

« Great mid sized hotel. »

Very friendly and professional staff. Well appointed and comfortable rooms. Well located close to highways, downtown, parliament and government offices as well as museums, shopping, sports and restaurants!

    « Ideal for a short stay »

Easy access, clean, all accommodations. Breakfast to improve. We stayed here one night past week, this hotel is perfect for that purpose. This hotel is located really well for exploring downtown Ottawa.

    « a nice place »

This hotel is nice, the services is also have a good quality, the breakfast is nice, and the in-room internet has a high speed too! The only thing we don not satisfied is that the water of the tub's sometimes is so hot or cold.

    5
    « Excellent Accomidation »

The hotel was great, nice clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, excellent house keeping, nice amenities (I stayed in the sauna a few times) and the free morning breakfast was so good, I could go on and on but if you have the Dollars and want a hassle free experience I would recommend it. P.S. This hotel is located really well for exploring downtown Ottawa, enjoying nightlife in the area and taking buses, cabs or Uber to those more distant places.

    « Awesome location »

Stayed here this past weekend as we are in a curling bonspiel at the Ottawa Curling Club one block away. The hotel is extremely clean. The room was very nice with lots of pillows, a flat screen TV, sitting area, a small fridge, microwave, and even dishes. The water pressure wasn't great, but there was always hot water. The bathroom is a bit small but adequate. My only complaint is that the room was extremely hot ... 25C even though the heat was turned to 18. I opened the window but the morning became very noisy. Also, only one elevator but we didn't really wait way too long to get the other one.

    4
« A little cramped, but would recommend for short stays. »

I stayed here one night only (for business purposes), and I think that this particular hotel is perfect for that purpose. It is nestled in a handy location close to the city centre. For longer stays (and for personal travel), I'd stay somewhere that has a little more space and more amenities. For example, there is underground parking (approx. $20 per night) but there is limited space to move your car whilst initially checking in (especially if there are other guests checking in at the same time). All the staff that I interacted with were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included in the cost (always a bonus), but again, the buffet area is easily crowded at peak times.

    4
    « Clean rooms! »

Stayed with a family of 4 in a double room with kitchenette. Small, but clean room. Good deal where you stayed for 2 nights and got the 3rd night free. A 15 minute walk to downtown in a good location. The breakfast was excellent. Many choices of hot and cold breakfast items. Staff at front desk were very friendly and helpful!

    « Disappointed »

paid for under ground parking that was not available , Breakfast was over at 9:30 am so we missed it. Only one elevator was working so the wait was long to get to and from our room . overall hotel was not to my expectations

    « Good »

Our experience at the Best Western was good. We walked to Parliment Hill from the hotel (although would be too far with young children). Staff was very friendly. Contential Breakfast was good. Our room was very nice, although did have an underlying smell of body odour which was gross.

    « Excelent »

Stayed with my family with 3 children and we loved the room very nice and clean. had two TV, nice kitchen and bathroom too. The suit we booked including parking, breakfast also free local calls and free wifi. Overall we had nice experience.

« Stay at Best Western »

Nice clean room little small great service. Negatives no complimentary parking only option is underground which they don't tell you till u arrive about the $20 dollars extra Then there was a charge on my credit card for $10.95 for free advise at the counter Also they never told us that there evevator was under construction and the only one working was always plugged or very slow so we ended up running up and down 5 flights of stairs with all our baggage.

    4
« Good Standard Across Cities »

I have booked in Best Western for 4 years now. The good thing I found about Best Western is they always maintain a good standard of Rooms across all locations. Break fast too is very reasonable for the price you normally spend for BWH

    « Brier 2016 and a couple. »

Very nice hotel. All staff we dealt with friendly and helpful. The usual free breakfast. Room was excellent for us, 1 bedroom, with pullout plus a rollaway. Had lots of space. Small, but adequate workout room. Didn't find the sauna got very hot. And the one elevator was being serviced during our visit, although it didn't seem to be too much of an issue. Definitely stay if in Ottawa again.

    « Best Western - Best Time »

The hotel room we had overlooked the museum. Great View. Appreciated the complmentary breakfast. We were checked in efficiently by Jenn, who also provided us with a map of the downtown core and assisted us with directions. Great stay - best time at the Best Western!

    « Brier 2016 »

On arrival, there was a mix up on the type of room. I reserved a one bedroom and was offered a normal room. This was resolved quickly and my overall stay was very enjoyable. The entire staff (desk and service) was very courteous and professional. The breakfast was excellent and the room service was great. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

    « Brier 2016-2 »

A group of 20 traveled to Ottawa and stayed at BW Victoria Park. Closest to Lansdowne Park good rooms, great breakfast always well supplied and friendly helpful staff. Easy to access bus (1 block), or a 20 minute walk. Had stayed here previously and it remains very good value.

    « Visiting with Family »

Overall stay was good. room was nice and location is great. only Three issues we face. 1) Upon check in - Front Desk Staff was not so welcoming rather it seems like they do not like us. One of them did not even wish us and the one who checked us in the expressions shows on his face like he hate us. (probably because we are asian). 2) One of the Chair in the room was damage the arm rest of the chair was damage. Thanks

    « Great Visit!! »

Was there for the 2016 Brier!! Perfect room... EXTREMELY comfortable beds!! Excellent FREE breakfast!! VERY CORDIAL & HELPFUL STAFF... ALL expectations met!! One elevator down for "upgrading" so slower trips to the room, but ... once those upgrades are done.... FABULOUS!!!

    « Brier 2016 »

Stay at the hotel was perfect for accessing the Brier as well as being centrally located. This allowed for touring the city via transit which was included with our Brier tickets. Kudos to the city for including the transit pass. Restaurants and sites to see within walking distance ( 10 - 15 min ). Staff was great.

Perfect stay! Great location close to lots of restaurants and shopping in a quiet neighborhood. Service was great. Room was recently renovated and very nice. Room was very clean. Bathroom was clean and spacious. Bed and bedding was comfortable. New flat screen high def tv was a bonus! Free breakfast in morning was excellent. Booked on discount and basically felt like I booked a high end hotel for half price! Would highly recommend and book again!

« Great hotel in good location with an amazing breakfast which was free!!! »

We stayed for 4 nights. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Also there was a kitchenette which had a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, crockery and cutlery. The breakfast was amazing, good quality food with lots of choices and plentiful. The location is great, with Parliament Building, Rideau Canal, Rideau Centre, Nature Museum, Chinatown, War Museum all close by. There is a good bus service and Seniors ride free on Wednesdays. Jenn, one of the Receptionist, was very helpful. We wanted to visit the Diefenbunker Canada's Cold War Museum which was quite a way from the hotel. Jenn gave us written instructions on how to get there, by bus and then taxi. All staff very friendly and helpful. All in all we had a great stay and would stay here again on our next visit to Ottawa.

    « Great location & friendly staff »

I stayed at the Victoria Park Suites this past Family Day long weekend to visit the last few days of Winterlude for the season. I had a great stay, the staff was very friendly, breakfast was a great continental breakfast (some would say that the dining room is small, but I was able to find a table both mornings when I went around 9:30 without a wait). I was also very pleased that the lobby had a free coffee and hot chocolate station all day during those -30 degree days. On our second day, our vehicle wouldn't start in the lot across the street because it was so freezing out, and a front desk gentleman named Tyler kindly offered to jump start our vehicle so we wouldn't have to call a tow truck. We were extremely grateful of this gesture, and it gave us a great perspective on the kind staff at this hotel. The location is great, Parliament Building, Confederation Park and Rideau Canal are all within a 20 minute walk, and the Museum of Nature is just across the street. Only downfall is the parking, which is to be expected directly downtown in any city centre; underground parking is $20 if available, street parking nearby is free on weekends, and after work hours, and there is a lot across the street (only available to park until 9am) or another public lot 3 blocks down; which are each $12. The walk was fine for my boyfriend and I being in our twenties and bundled up according to the weather, but I would drive by the public parking lot prior to paying the hotel for it, just so you can choose as you see fit (it is on the corner or O'Connor St and Gilmour St.) Overall this hotel is very clean and comfortable, kitchenette in suites even has dishes (great bonus), although I do agree with a few other reviews prior stating that the room can get hot despite the temperature setting. All in all I had a great stay, would gladly stay at this hotel again.

    « Excellent Hospitality »

The staff were very helpful and very pleasant to chat with. The room was very clean. Restaurants were close by. I love that the room had a kitchenette Not really that far from downtown. You still need to get a taxi to get there but not overly expensive

    5
    « very good place »

comfy bed. very good clean. very very good breakfast. very very very good service. + underground parking. the only - is far from the main attraction, but never mind. worth spending every dollar, and its not expensive

    3
    « Good Located »

The Hotel is good Located. Rooms to the Street are quite loud. Breakfast is nothing special but ok. Only a few machines in the gym. WLAN lets enough space to improve - no stability, many times renew the connection - to do some work where you need to be connected is horrible. Bathroom clean and at all ok. For a longer stay i would rather be in the Albert at Bay. For short term stay fair enough

« Great Accomodation but some failures »

This hotel is supposed to be a Plus B/W but it definitely does have some downfalls. The first issue is their indoor parking. We arrived at this hotel at 3pm only to find out that their indoor parking was totally full. The staff provided us with a map where we could park which was public parking approximately six blocks away. Remember this is Ottawa and many one way streets. We eventually arrived at the public parking which was on O'Connor but still a three block walk back to the hotel. Our room was also not available, so we had to store our luggage in a friend's room for about an hour. Breakfast was also included which was basically a waste of time. The room was way too small to accommodate guests and most of the buffet was empty. You had to wait for food to arrive etc. A lot of people were either taking coffee back to their room because of lack of seating and we and four other guests staying at this hotel ended up going out for breakfast. The front staff were good to call cabs for us. One night returning from a wedding the front door was locked and no one was at the front desk. Eventually someone appeared and opened the doors for us to get into the hotel. He advised sometimes the slide key cards do not work in the cold. Why wasn't someone at the front desk to unlock the doors for their returning guests in the evening.

« Exceeded expectations for meeting »

Our office used their meeting space and we had guests from all over Ontario. We were very pleased with the size of the rooms, our participants had excellent reviews of the meeting space and the food, and staff were very courteous. Our guests were glad to be walking distance to the restaurants in Elgin St. The only area for improvement is in getting a parking permit which required us to get out of the car, then get buzzed in. Otherwise, a great hotel and meeting space.

« A great stay in the heart of Ottawa »

The Best Western PLUS Downtown Ottawa Victoria Suites is a clean, comfortable hotel. The staff was pleasant and the bed was comfortable. There are plenty of great restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

    « Peaceful stay »

Great rooms and location. Awesome breakfast however parking was a premium for indoor parking... Worth it though. Advise to reserve ahead or you will be parking a block away. Staff was very friendly. When it is busy, elevators were slow, but is expected. Overall... Very good place to stay. Walls are thin... So beware... ;)

    « Awesome!! »

Right from the start when making the reservation, the staff were ever so friendly and went out of their way to help. We arrived the night of the record snowfall and felt so welcomed. The room was perfect, the breakfast was amazing and the location was great. This was a girls much needed getaway as we all work in a nursing home. I would highly recommend this hotel!

    « Great for a 2-3 day stay »

Bigger room with mini kitchen makes for relaxing stay. Breakfast is good! Something for everyone! We were there on oldest days and so warm and comfy. Near natural museum and many restaurants. Recommend for anyone especially if you are willing to walk

    « Fantastic Hotel! »

Stayed here on business for two nights. Arrived to find out I had been upgraded to a suite from my queen bed room! Fantastic service. The room was very nice and updated, very spacious. Breakfast was also great, one of the widest selections I've seen for continental breakfasts! Also lots of room for seating. Would definitely stay here again if in the area!

« Nice rooms, good breakfast, great location »

The rooms are nice and clean. Great breakfast with a lot of options. Friendly staff. Perfect location with easy access to the highway, the canal and downtown. My only complaint was that the hallways and rooms were too hot.

    4
    « good location »

good breakfast-lots of selection, fruit, baked goods, eggs etc great location to Elgin street, strong hairdryer, selection of pillow types, parking $20/night. The only cons were that the shower was too hot and the room was a bit too warm, had to put the a/c on to cool it down.

    4
« Fantastic staff and great location! »

Only stayed one night but had a wonderful experience! The staff were friendly and helpful, we bought a Nordik Spa package and they answered all of our questions and even printed directions for us. The room was clean and big and the continental breakfast was very impressive with many choices to choose from. And talk about location!! There are so many wonderful and exciting restaurants all within walking distance. And the best part...underground parking, which was extremely appreciated as it got to -30 degrees that night. We will definitely be back!!

    4
« great location, friendly staff »

Was in town for a business meeting. Most of the team stayed here. Great central location near some good pubs and restaurants. The desk staff were friendly and very helpful, giving good recommendations on nearby places to eat or get a beer. Room was comfortable, clean and no issues or concerns. Only one minor complaint; despite constantly resetting my room thermostat to a comfortable temperature, I would always come back at the end of the day and find the room cleaners had reset it to too hot. But I would definitely stay here again when in Ottawa.

    4
    « Home From Home »

Normally I would not be reviewing a hotel in a city in which I live, however, I recently stayed here for what was supposed to be a couple of days and turned into a week while some work was being done on my flat. A few years ago I had put up some relatives who had come to Ottawa on their way out west in this hotel and was quite impressed with it at that time (so were they). Check in was really fast and easy and the desk staff were very friendly the entire time I stayed, never neglecting to say hello or good-bye as I was passing through--unless they were already helping another guest, which is as it should be. They were also really good about extending the stay (though part of that is also that it was the slack season, thank the Gods) and dealing with a minor housekeeping issue that I had. I'm not certain how hotels define 'suites'. I had a single Queen room and it was pretty much like a normal hotel room, but with the addition of a sink, dishes and cutlery, a small fridge and a small microwave. I know that there are what I consider suites (a bedroom, bathroom and a sitting room) in the building as that's where the relatives stayed. In any event, the bedroom was clean, as was the bathroom. The bed was also nice and firm and quite frankly, as I was on my own, I didn't need an extra room. The water in the bathroom heated quickly and there was a more than plentiful supply of hot water. The breakfast buffet was very good and I found that the variety was extremely good for a hotel buffet. I had no problems finding enough breakfast to satisfy me. There were unfortunately two negatives, which reduce the rating to about a 4.5. One of the days I was there the cable went out for pretty much the entire day. And the day I left something apparently either went wrong with the AC or someone left a door open because while my room was warm enough, the hallway was put-on-a-coat freezing. Finally, I feel that since I live in the area, that I should let potential visitors know about the area. The hotel is not far from the Queensway at the south end of downtown Ottawa. It is about 20 minutes walk north to Parliament Hill, or there is transit practically right outside the door. If you walk down to Elgin Street, there are a number of restaurants and bars, or down Bank Street, there's retail and restaurants. If you choose the streets between the two of these, they're mostly residential and some office. There are a number of grocery, convenience and pharmacy stores in the area. The Museum of Nature is the next block south and can be seen from an upper floor of the hotel (the north view is not nearly as nice). I would recommend the hotel for a business traveller - especially because unlike some other hotels I've heard tell of, they haven't gotten rid of desks in the room. I think it's also a good hotel for families because in the larger suites the living room has a fold out couch which I'm told is quite comfortable.

    5
« Great stay at Best Western Plus »

We were here for three days and we would definitely stay again. The dresser drawers kept opening and the toilet kept running but other than that our stay was wonderful. The breakfast was really good and staff were very friendly. The location was perfect for us curling in different curling clubs and walking distance to downtown for supper.

    5
« Friendly, helpful staff, EV Vehicle Friendly »

The room was clean and well equipped. The staff was super friendly and helpful. You could hardly move without someone offering to help. The breakfast buffet has a great selection which is constantly freshened. The location means if you like to walk you don't need a vehicle to see the sights. We parked the car for the weekend and walked plus took the Winterlude shuttle to Gatineau. Bonus: Electric car charging is available AND free parking for EVs. WE WILL BACK.

    « THIS IS A MUST READ!! »

The reviews of this property are inaccurate and create the wrong image. This place is 100 percent a two star hotel, nothing more. Although there are many good reviews, (too many?) this remains a below average hotel. Possibly a average hotel for Ottawa, because Ottawa hotels are seriously lacking. Stay in Hull or Gatieau at the Hiton or elseware in the region. Plus, better cuisine in Quebec anyway. Parking is very tight, our bed top was not clean, batteries needed in the room safe, very old dishes in the room, tired and low quality carpet, tired furniture, bathroom was the only acceptable part of the room. Breakfast was good. Steer clear. You get what you pay for. Ottawa: get you hotels in order!!!!!

    « Birthday weekend »

The staff at this hotel is exceptional! We felt so welcome with their friendliness, warm welcome and gestures. We spent 3 nights here for my boyfriends birthday in which we attended a sens-oilers game (oilers won 7-2 woooo) and on the last night one of the girls hand delivered a farewell birthday package. Truly unexpected and very kind, us newfies will definitely be back again! Thanks to all the staff ??

« Second time in this location - still a good place to stay »

Location, location, location. Easily accessible off of the Queensway, close to downtown, right along the canal. The hotel has nice rooms for a good price. You do have to pay for parking, but considering that you are downtown or near downtown it is not outrageous.

    « Room »

The room I got was fine, TV got a good amount of channels, bathroom worked, and I slept pretty well. Rest of things could be improved. The elevator was slow, and frequently a long wait, so it turned out to be faster taking the stairs, even though I was on the fourth or fifth floor. The staff were not very friendly whenever I interacted with any of them. Also they advertised they had free newspapers but whenever I looked for them, I was told they were out. Around the hotel, there are some shopping street with restaurants, but nothing very exciting. Oh, except for the Canadian Museum of Nature, that was great! But, considering the hotel is a good walk away from the city center, I found it a bit overpriced, not good value.

« Torn bed sheet in the middle »

I would start from the services. Front desk ladies misguided us several times about points resumption and eventually they charged full amount instead of using points. King suite bed sheet was torn from the middle and from the bottom. We requested for a milk carton for baby and they gave us 2% expired milk for the baby and also they charged for that. They refused to give us high chair for our baby. Although they promised and reassured over the net to provide but they refused to give us on the spot. I was unable to sleep because all night i heard door closing sounds of other rooms so no sound proof at all. Elevator was out of order and we had to wait for like 20 minutes to get our turn since we were traveling with a baby and stay in that hotel was not a pleasant experience. I would say it was a nightmare.

    « AC/DC Concert!! »

Stayed here in August, taking our boys and their girlfriends to concert at TD place. For us it was great being able to walk to and from the concert (approx. 15 min each way). We had a queen suite the boys suite had two double beds. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Fridge, microwave, sink, dishes, coffee maker, even a little package cookies!! Bathroom was very clean and spacious. Had such a great time at concert can't remember if the beds were comfortable or not!! Staff very friendly and helpful. Such a great rate including a wonderful Buffett breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. One of our sons forgot a pair of pants (hanging on the bathroom door!!) he called the hotel and they found them and we're going to mail them to us, I assumed they would either charge my credit card or I would somehow pay when they arrived but NO extra charge!! Maybe this is standard procedure for hotels (we have never left anything behind in the past) but I was very impressed and made a point of calling to thank them. Would stay here anytime we are in Ottawa, amazing.

We had the opportunity to stay at this Best Western during this past summer. The staff were welcoming, our suite was lovely, and the location was great. Many plus reasons to stay at this hotel. A 20 minute walk to the Parliament Buildings, The Museum of Civilization is next door, and there were two wonderful Italian Restaurants very near. When local people dine at the locations, one knows that the experience will be positive. Thank you to all staff who were working during this time.

« A short walk to the Canadian Museum of Nature and all the bars and restaurants on Elgin! »

We've stayed at this hotel three times when visiting Ottawa due to its very convenient location. Because our last visit was in the winter we opted to pay for underground parking--an extra $20 + tax, but when we sat down to the free breakfast the next day we felt we'd got our money back. The breakfast included with the price of the room is provided in a purpose built room just off the lobby; it had a good selection of cereals, baked goods, fruit, yogurts, orange and apple juices, hard boiled eggs as well as 'cheese omelettes'. Our room was clean, comfortable and attractive. The staff were all friendly and efficient. We'll be back!

    « Excellent value »

Great location, speedy reception, indoor parking with charging station for electric cars. I rented a suite with a separate bedroom, a hide-a-bed in the living room and small kitchenette, very reasonably priced. Clean and comfortable, the only criticism was the lack of heating in the hallways on the third floor and minor difficulties in adjusting the heating for the entire suite.

Room was renovated or at least kept in good condition. Size was good but the view was awful. Everything was very clean, which to me is very important. While location is good, the hotel itself is a bit rundown.

    « Great choice »

We chose this hotel mainly for its location near the places we wanted to visit in Ottawa and were very satisfied with its amenities and helpful, friendly staff. The room was really nice with good towels and sheets and breakfast was much better than we expected. It was a great choice indeed!

    « Very clean! »

This hotel is exceptionally clean. Its above average for a best western. Its close to several shops and restaurants. Room was surprisingly spacious and spotless. They even have a pillow menu. The bed was also shockingly comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious, rich and clean. On my checkout day some guy came to our room at 12 to ask if we were checking out. I would have appreciated five extra minutes to leave the room, so since checkout is 12pm, the hotel can maybe check that the guest has left at 12:05. Give me 3 to 5 minutes to actually walk out of the room. Overall i was very surprised at the great service and quality of the hotel.

    « Ideally located »

Well appointed rooms, housekeeping staff were very friendly and considerate to ensure our stay was comfortable. Front office staff were equally professional in their approach. However the F&B staff needs to up their ante. Guests visit the restaurant to have a quick breakfast and get moving with their reasons for having come to Ottawa. Had to wait for over 20mins to get the omelets and the burger patties to be replenished. Like us other guests were waiting around for it to arrive and it did arrive but, when just about everyone had finished breakfast with the boiled eggs and whatever was left around. There were two stewards, who seemed almost lost with what needed to be done. They were not to be seen around and the dummy waiters just kept piling with soiled plates and could have been cleared whilst the food was getting prepared which never happened. Later the manager just about single handedly cleared the crockery. The breakfast menu on the buffet was the same for the three days that we stayed there- burger patties, omelets with cheese filling and boiled eggs etc.. This needs addressal. The property is ideally located to most of the important site seeing locations and fairly good dining areas on Elgin St. Places like the Parliament hill, Rideau locks, the Museum of Nature etc are in walkable distances. Would certainly suggest this place.

    « Really nice hotel »

All of our time here was wonderful, the staff was very helpful in taking the time to show us places to go for the night life as well as sight seeing...they also helped in letting us know where the Universities were located, for this was the reason of our visit. I asked for a quiet room and they accommodated this request, which I am very great full for.

    « Excellent 1 night stay »

I was visiting Ottawa for a day and needed a place to stay. Found this hotel which provides both bed and breakfast at an affordable price. We arrived early in the morning and decided to check in early. There was an extra charge to check in early but the manager waived it for us later. It was really a pleasant stay, though it was a short one. The breakfast was decent too! Great hotel!

« Convenient to Canada Museum of Nature »

This clean, efficient hotel in a quiet urban neighborhood is a block from the excellent Canadian Museum of Nature (it's late Edwrdian architecture and giant squid sculpture clearly visible from our room). Staff was friendly and helpful. Downtown restaurants and shopping were a bit of a hike, but nice walk on flat terrain, so no complaints. Room was typical upscale chain with good fitness facilities and better-than-average complimentary breakfast buffet. Overall, very good value.

    « Conveniently Located »

Clean quiet & comfortable & great location. Very friendly & helpful staff. Great breakfast. Convenient hotel just minutes from Elgin Street with its many restaurants & bars, Museum of Nature is only a 2 minute walk.

« Best Western Victoria Suites »

My husband and I always take time away from the kids. This is one of the hotels we keep coming back to. It's nicely located and it's a 15 minute walk to the Byward Market or a short taxi ride. We have no complaints. Rooms are very spacious and always a good variety for breakfast.

    « Another great visit! »

On my second visit to Ottawa (previous visit was in 2013) I talked my wife into coming with me. Of course we stayed at the Best Western on O'Conner street. They did not disappoint and I think they have improved in the intervening years. I was glad to see that at least one staff member was still on the front desk. He had helped me make my first visit to Ottawa memorable. This time we only talked a few times, but the rest of the staff, especially the cleaning staff, went above and beyond to make us welcome. Because we stated a week , we only requested room service every few days, but we had an unexpected visit from some friends and we needed our room spruced up - our request was immediately acted on and our room was made up. Once again thank you Best Western Plus Ottawa Downtown Victoria Park!! My wife really enjoyed her visit to Ottawa and a lot of that was due to the great service provided by this Hotel!

    « Super Hotel »

This hotel is really good. I was in a suite and the room was excellent. All modern and up to date and the bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and the bathroom was a good size. Apart from a loud in room heating system and some tight parking, it was a great stay. Parliament Hill is about a 25 minutes walk and there are plenty of restaurants in the area. If you need to stay downtown, this hotel would be a very good choice.

    « Good for couples »

We stayed in BEST WESTERN PLUS Ottawa Downtown-Victoria Park hotel December 4, 5, 6, 7. Location is very convenient. Parliament is about 20 minutes walk, National Gallery of Canada, ByWard market almost the same time, theatres, museums, eateries, entertainment even closer. For two days we could visit four museums and only to Canada Aviation and Space Museum we should use #7 bus which stop was close to our hotel. Details of trip we could get through free Internet just in the hotel room. Another remarkable museum - Canadian Museum of Nature- was just under our window. Buses are very close and convenient. And in the same time our room was very quiet: we could not hear any noise from transportation, neighbours or staff. We always had good sleep and rest in that comfortable and clean room where you can drink coffee or tea, watch TV, browse Internet or make a call. The beds were very nice with such good pillows so probably we need to change ours at home. Breakfasts were included, delicious and nourishing. Another meals you can have in multiple restaurants and cafes around where "Lemon Grass" with their Tom Kha Kai soup at 331 Elgin Street was our favourite. Hotel people are very helpful and professional. We recommend this place without any hesitation.

« Very helpful staff, good location »

Stayed Wednesday-Saturday in November, check in was fast and efficient and our room was ready early. Location is about a 25-30 minute walk to Parliament and about another 5-10 minutes to the Byward Market area. The hotel is right on a bus route if you don't feel like walking or if the weather takes a turn. Staff was very helpful with letting us know which bus to take to which area and answered all of our questions about nightlife in the area. Room was very clean, beds were comfy and there were a variety of pillows (down/synthetic-firm/soft) available. The room also had a sliding glass door to let in fresh air-not really needed in the winter, but would be good for spring and summer.

    « Nice Hotel »

Stayed here a couple of nights. At first was hard to get into with vehicle as cabs blocked the driveway. Had to drive around block to try again. Check in was quick and easy. Was shocked at the charge of parking as it was 19.95 for underground and 12.95 for outdoor and was told a couple blocks away. So paid for underground. The hotel room was nice and comforable. The bess were nice with enough pillows and blankets. Also having the microwave and fridge was nice. They have a complimentary continental breakfast which was nice. The hotel is within walking distance to everything. We were there for two days and walked everywhere. No need for cabs or buses as it takes about 20 minutes to parliament and the market. Overall i would recommend this hotel for both value and location. Although I would recommend putting in the do not disturb on the door as housekeeping comes knocking early in morning.

    « Overnight Stay in Hotel - Nov,. 26, 2015 »

We stayed overnight and the room was very nice other than the fact that it was a bit small for the 3 of us. Hallway was bright and carpeting looked good. Convenient to have a fridge with sink in room. It was clean and there were extra pillows and blankets stored in the room. The beds were very comfortable and pillows were great - had a good night's sleep. Parking was expensive - $18.95 plus tax. The front desk rep told me that it was $19.95 but when I mentioned that I had got the rate from hotel.com, he honoured my rate which was nice. When we were in the parking garage returning to our room, there was a very strong smell of marijuana. It was upsetting to know that whoever it was didn't have the courtesy to do it outside or somewhere else!! The area reeked! We told Patrick, if I remember his name correctly, at the front desk, and he seemed concerned and immediately called it in for someone to check it out. Breakfast was included in the room rate and although it was crowded when we got there just after 8am, Staff made sure food was replenished. It was a pretty good breakfast. All in all a good stay. We were on the 5th floor and basically there was nothing to look out at as our view was blocked. There should have been at least 2 cups for the coffee which was complimentary.

    « Stay in Ottawa »

I booked this hotel from Expedia because it was cheaper than through the Best Western website. The rooms are comfortable, the wifi worked well, the breakfast was good and the location was superb. Bank street is one block away with public transit and restaurants. Elgin street was 2 blocks the other way with public transit and lots of restaurants also. Public transit was easy to use so there was no need for a car, if you do have a car it is $19.95 per day for parking with in and out privileges. Good hotel and a great value.

    5
« Comfortable stay in the City Centre »

The location is very good: one minute walk from Bank St. with frequent bus service on Bank. The room was comfortable and well equipped. My room had a kitchenette type set up with plates, glasses, fridge and microwave. The breakfast was excellent: I was able to eat exactly what I have at home! The staff were helpful and available. The hotel was pretty quiet, with only a few Saturday night drunks passing by. I can't imagine how anyone but the very picky could find much to complain about here!

    4
    « Very Nice Place »

Tyler greeted us at the front desk and was very pleasant to deal with. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. We stayed in a suite on the top floor. We had no hot water the morning we woke up which was a little disappointing but the hotel compensated us appropriately. Continental breakfast was more than we expected. We feel we got good value for our money. The one thing that caught me of guard was having to pay for their under ground parking at $19.95 a day. Mind you I'm not a frequent traveller, I have never paid for hotel parking before.

    5
« Reasonably priced in a decent location »

This hotel is a 20-minute walk to the heart of Ottawa. Rooms are clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great breakfast and a reasonable price. All in all, a decent place in comparison to most of the hotels in downtown Ottawa, which are generally over-priced.

    « November Vacation »

I liked our hotel room. The breakfast was good too.(bagels, muffins, eggs, cereal, juice, coffee) The staff was very accommodating. It wasn't super crazy fancy but worth the $$ we paid for it. The location is PERFECT! never took a cab once, so close to everything. (The parliament buildings, Rideau Mall, The Nature Museum,LCBO)

    « Will stay again. »

My and my wife enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in downtown Ottawa (Victoria Park). The staff was polite and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable more spacious then most hotels at the price range and the continental breakfast was great.

    « Good Location »

The location is good within walking distance of numerous restaurants on Bank St, and the Parliament Hill area. Had a meeting at the Museum of Nature which is one block away. The amenities were good. Only problem was a slight, bizarre odor in the room which didn't affect my stay, and I didn't feel it necessary to mention to the staff.

    5
« Such a great stay! Would do it again in a heartbeat! »

Stayed here for a week for work. Upon getting my room it was discovered the heat/cooling system in the room was broken. I was promptly moved to a new, bigger room. No arguments here! Such great staff (they catered to co workers request for gluten free items without hesitation!). The location is amazing!! Within walking distance to everything! I forgot something important in my room upon check out and housekeeping promptly called me back and are mailing me the item in question! Great job Best Western Plus!!

I had booked this place for my wedding, which was at the museum of nature, just down the street. We booked around 15 rooms with them and it went great. Rooms were great, location is fantastic and parking was convenient. No complaints from any of my guests either.

« Very nice room. Great location. Highly recommend. »

This hotel is small so it does not get a four star rating. But my room and hotel were very nice. Everything, bed, sheets, bath, kindness of the staff. And the location is amazing, not just near Bank Street, but also the restaurants around the corner on Elgin. For a family it might be tight, the room was small. I was alone, so it was perfect for four days. There is a breakfast provided in the morning which was nice, although not fancy.

    5
« Great Service, the staff is very friendly, The room was nice and the hotel is in a good location. »

I had a wonderful stay, The staff is amazing. Sherri was very helpful and extended our reservation. The hotel is in a good location and close to Elgin street with many restaurants, bars, coffee shops and convenient stores. Overall, my wife and I had a great stay. We will miss Ottawa, Canada and we will definitely be back. Canadians are very nice people and very friendly. God Bless Canada1

    « Location and $$ »

I stay here a lot and each time I appreciate the service from the front desk and from the ones who service my room. I always get the same room, by request, and while it has it's little faults I appreciate that it is always waiting for me. This hotel is well situated for those who like to walk to the many nearby restaurants on Bank Street or Elgin and spend time at the Museum of Natural History. It is also easy to walk to the Parliament Buildings from here as well, albeit a long walk. This hotel is in a neighbourhood and not the busy downtown core so it is much quieter and I appreciate that. Stay here when you visit Ottawa.

« Overnight stay to explore Parliament Hill. »

Hotel was fine and had underground parking included. It was within walking distance to Parliament Hill (1km). Elevator was broken so only one to share with hotel cleaning staff. Staff said it was a recurring problem and when it got fixed it was only good for a few days.

    3
« Clean, Quiet and well Situated »

The room was fine.. clean, quiet. The fitness club and sauna - was kind of minimal. Staff were very helpful, and efficient. The breakfast options typical basic self serve with cereal, basic muffins, basic bread? and the coffee was well, I had tea instead. would be nice to up the ante a bit with the breakfast, but of course that would require an active kitchen.

    « Very Good Hotel »

Spent two nights at Best Western Victoria Park. We found the room very clean, the amenities excellent, the morning breakfast buffet to be good and in general the location was great too. Found the parking a bit expensive, but there were in and out privileges. Would we stay there again? Absolutely! Just would not wish to be in a ground floor room looking out at a fence.

« Awesome place to stay! »

This is an amazing hotel! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are great and very clean. There are some excellent restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. We were impressed with everything about this hotel and plan to stay here every time that we return to Ottawa

    « Close to everything »

Good hotel for reasonable rate, within walking distance of the attractions at and around Parliament Hill. Room was clean and comfortable, with a little kitchen area and fridge. Only drawback was no restaurant on site, but there is a good variety to choose from within a couple of blocks.

    « Hidden Gem! »

Found this hotel & as it was central, decided to try it. What a surprise! The location was ideal, being near where we wanted to be, and it was truly a very nice stay. We had a king suite; it was large, comfortable, well- decorated and clean. The staff were superb - all super friendly and helpful, always with a smile. Amenities included: choice of pillows, kitchen area including microwave, mini-fridge, cups, plates etc., which I particularly appreciated, iron and ironing board, tv in both bedroom and sitting area, comfortable chair and sofa ( which I was told is a sofa-bed, if required), lots of towels without having to request more, nice view over the museum park, nice toiletries, and complementary speedy wi-fi which worked - a feature I particularly appreciated. Breakfast was included, the breakfast space was kept clean and tidy constantly and the choices replenished often. And I could open the window! I value fresh air. I would choose to stay in this hotel whenever I visit Ottawa from now on.

Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Pillows especially comfortable. Two thumbs up.

Just a one night stay to meet family from out of town. From the reception of the desk staff, the immaculate room, great bed to check out it was a lovely stay. My son lives down the street, I'll be back soon. Thanks so much!

    « Made our son's wedding a truly stress-free experience »

We booked this hotel strictly based on location - the dinner and dance for our son's wedding was being held around the corner at The Museum of Nature. The lovely breakfast provided and the helpful and accommodating staff were a pleasant surprise. We booked a number of rooms for the two nights and our family and friends were all pleased with our choice. Thank you, we will definitely stay with you again.

« Very clean, good breakfast nice work out facility »

We stayed here at start of Sept. drop our daughter at uni. At top of strip but still walkable but we do like to walk. Breakfast included was very good, staff was working very hard to keep on top of crowd. Outdoor patio lovely. The gym on the top floor was very nice and shower/sauna pretty swank too. Love Scone Witch and had a great meal at the Manx.

    « Excellent hotel. »

We were very happy with the cleanliness of our room and the whole hotel. The staff were pleasant and polite. The breakfast was very good and stocked well. Easy and safe 20 minute walk to Parliament buildings. On bus route. Room had a kitchenette with a cold fridge. Separate bedroom..."all suites". Would recommend a proper guide for tv listings, not just channels. Would gladly return. Good location. Great price. Great, clean and modern hotel.

    « Another happy guest »

Though we didn't stay for very long and didn't use the fitness centre we felt like we had everything needed for our stay. Even before we left we were advised what routes to take since there was construction going on in the area - great when not being used to drive in the city. Staff was helpful with questions and very friendly and welcoming overall.

    « Very awesome accommodations »

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and would rate this as one of the best experiences I have had for accommodation in my life and I have travelled quite a bit. The location is very good for the downtown area. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. Every one of them. They were all extremely pleasant and accommodating. The other thing about this hotel that was amazing is that I had asked to be accommodated by not having fragrances in the room as I have a health issue that is aggravated by scents. I had absolutely no problems with this at all. Even when the cleaning staff came in to clean the room, they had a bottle of vinegar to clean instead of the regular products that make me ill. This place is clean, clean, clean. The sauna is a nice benefit as well. I also got a better rate than the internet when I called them directly. The breakfast was very good, although I did miss the waffles that you can make yourself that I am used to at every Best Western I have stayed at. They did have waffles there, but they were not as good as the ones you can make yourself. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Ottawa.

« Good value. Good location. Clean and friendly. »

I was looking for a hotel that would give value for the dollar on our one overnight. This was it. The location was good. The hotel was clean. The room was very clean. Cleanliness is a big thing for me. And the room was comfortable. Front Desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. Parking was an additional charge but that was not a problem. in an out privileges for $18 is a very good price for 24 hours of parking. Breakfast was not luxurious but plentiful with lots of choices and catered to a variety of tastes and needs. We were very pleased with our stay there. Note our room did overlook O'Connor street so there was early morning noise from garbage pickup but it was minimal.

« Courtesy, professionalism and efficiency »

I have had the opportunity to stay at this all suites hotel located close to downtown Ottawa, toTD Stadium and with easy highway access many times in the past. After a hiatus of a bit more than a year I had to return to Ottawa and was not disappointed. The staff were as professional and friendly as always and the hotel has continued to improve in the little details that count. I will definitely return on my next trip to Ottawa!

    « was ok »

The smell of stale cigarette smoke as soon as we neared the front doors was disgusting, suggestion: Don't allow people to smoke there! The hotel itself was clean and the room proved to be sufficient of our needs, did like the mini kitchenette as it proved useful. We picked this place due to location of appt we had the next AM. Was not impressed with parking facilities however, was told we had to pay $18 a night to park, or we could park 4 blocks away and walk back, not an option as it was after dark, windy/rainy and cold! It always amazes me that hotels often charge to park while staying there. As I'm sure most people drive to get there. With the price of rooms now days surely parking should be included, even the street parking after 8am had to be paid for, would not stay here more than 1 night purely b/c of the parking. Continental breakfast was more then sufficient

« Central great location to all we had come to Ottawa to see and do!! »

We came to Ottawa to tour the parliament buildings, see the Rideau Canal and to see Ottawa. The BEST WESTERN PLUS Ottawa Downtown-Victoria Park fit the bill perfectly. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to see and do. The check in was quick and efficient, room was spacious and very comfortable, bed, bedding towels once again was excellent. The front desk staff directed us to Elgin Street, where there are numerous restaurants within walking distance. Only downer --- no pool --- a soak after walking miles touring the parliament building would of been wonderful !!

« A great place to stay in Ottawa »

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. They provided a map of the area and gave suggestions on where to dine for dinner. The hotel's breakfast was more than we expected. There was a variety of fruit, cereals, breads, waffles, bacon and juices. On our next trip to Ottawa we will definitely be staying at the Best Western.

The Best Western outdid itself once again. Comfortable beds, friendly staff and clean rooms plus a breakfast that leaves you full and satisfied. « Really earns its "PLUS" »

Few hotels or motels get an A in every area. This one does. Helpful staff. Convenient parking (free after I questioned lack of any mention of a parking charge in their website information). Close to main attractions & city buses. Best free breakfast I've experienced since the Best Western of Tonapah, NV in 2009. Little thoughtful extras I've rarely or ever seen. Example: A tissue dispenser on the lobby restroom's interior door to grasp the door handle, enabling a completely sanitary exit. Upon reaching the second door I found it even had a container in which to deposit the tissue.

    5
    « comfortable & convenient hotel »

The Best Western PLUS Ottawa Downtown - Victoria park Hotel is slightly out of the dowtown core BUT this is easily compensated for 3 key points. 1) easy access to the Rideau Canal for people who like to run 2) proximity to the Museum of Nature 3) easy access to the Queensway When you factor in the excellent breakfast it makes for an enjoyable hassle free stay .

    5
« Great location with Canadian Museum of Nature across street »

Enjoy the clean, comfortable beds with kitchenette. The complementary breakfast in the morning had all the healthy treats and I saw others feasting on the bacon and eggs. Located on a one-way street where parking is tight, careful manouvering underground parking is available for a fee. Nearby we found the Canadian Museum of Nature and restaurants within walking distance.

Stayed there for two nights while attending a nearby wedding. 1. Nice sized rooms. 2. Genuinely friendly and helpful staff 3. Comfortable rooms and beds 4. Excellent free continental breakfast 5. « Clean and friendly Ottawa hotel »

I've staid here many time for work, it's not close to anything but highway, but staff are friendly and it's clean. There is no restaurant really, just a small room for horrible continental breakfast. There are many breakfast places in the area, so eat out. We had a conference in one of their boardrooms and they catered food, which was fabulous, but their is no actual restaurant on site.

We stayed in Ottawa to attend a wedding at the Museum of Nature. This hotel is 1/2 a block from there. The front desk is staffed by courteous, helpful, and friendly personnel (especially Dominique!) The rooms are clean, spacious, and very well stocked with dishes & microwave. The complimentary breakfast was so complete and delicious! The walk up Bank St. to the Parliament Buildings was full of interesting shops. Well priced, great place to stay!
