    « Friendly Place »

We stayed here for two nights over the bank holiday. Very easy check in, lift up to rooms. Comfortable bed. Shower and bath very good and all very clean. Tea and coffee available with mugs not tiny cups, that's a plus for me. Extra milks and coffees came very quickly when I requested more. Ate here once and can recommend the burgers, house wine very good about £19 a bottle. Lots of parking. Bus stops nearby. Trams not far away. We had l taxi to Picadilly Station and was £16. Lovely park nearby with flat walks.

« Enjoyable stay for a Golden Celebration »

We enjoyed a two night stay here for a family friends Golden Wedding celebration. The function suite was well presented and we all had a great time. Food was good with a good selection of dishes. The bacon ,egg and sausage sandwiches were lovely to help everyone have energy for dancing. There was a good selection of food at breakfast with a help yourself buffet , you could also choose other items to be cooked as required. However the choice of menu in the restaurant was rather disappointing , the bar food had a larger menu. I found the bedroom comfortable and easy to sleep in (dark and quite with a comfortable bed). The room was rather hot and my wife found it difficult to read ( poor lighting ).

    « Friday Night Treat »

We enjoyed another nice meal at smokies. I had the Cajun chicken and my wife had Ribeye Steak. It was cooked to a good standard. The whole experience was very good. The service was very good and we feel it is very good value for money. The staff were very pleasant and couldn't do enough for you. We would definitely recommend smokies and we look forward to going again soon.

    « Dads 70 birthday »

We had booked for 25 but we had 20 in total including 7 children. We took carvery option. We decided on this just for the size of the party & the price. We all took our seat ordered drinks. To be fair it being a Sunday service was not bad at all good really. Drinks arrived in good time it gave people time to catch up .We entered around 14.25 left around 18.00 . We never felt rushed at all . Beer was good carvery decent Salad bar was good. The meats on offer were good . At the end of the day . If you are paying £11.95 for 3 course meal what do you want ... !!! The hotel is very clean couldn't find fault for what we paid . Staff worked hard just like to say thank you for making the day good. I think the whole party enjoyed it . My father in law was made up .. ??

« Average hotel, with room for improvement »

Visited for a christening Saturday 28th April. Central location, with car park. Room hire was upstairs with no staff present to direct people to the party. Venue was booked for 80 people however the room was quite small and only had 6 tables present with 7 chairs on each table, so yes only 42 seats! One extra table was brought out. The buffet was brought out which ran out after about 15/20 minutes with some people not having anything. ( I shared a plate). I thought it was quite a poor buffet for the venue and there was defiantly not enough food for 80 people. They forgot to cater for the gluten, celiac and vegetarian options. More food was asked to be brought out but it was only poor tuna, cheese & egg sandwiches. Alcohol was pricey £29 for a bottle of very dry Prosecco which wasn't very nice. Also had to walk downstairs through a bar to the toilets. Hopefully I won't be invited to another party there! Other Best Western Hotels have always been great.

    « Nice stay »

Stayed here for one night, very friendly reception staff and lovely waitress Leanne in restaurant. Room was clean and bed comfy with tea and coffee making facilities. Only comment would be that bathrooms need updating. Would recommend to anyone in area.

    « Decent one-night stay »

Stayed at this Best Western for one night while working in Oldham. It's easy to find on main road to the south of the town. Nice welcome on reception. I had room on ground floor, and it was clean and tidy. A good size with tea and coffee making facilities. The bed was ok. Breakfast was included in my rate. Again, this was ok. I would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

    « Better than average »

Nice surrounding, clean room and efficient service. Dinner portions were very generous and quality was better than average. Breakfast was ok, with more choice it would have been better. I would have loved a full water shower head rather than a water saving one.

    « Great Stay »

We have stayed at this Hotel 3 times, always welcomed with great service. A wonderful base to explore nice places such as Daisy Nook and Crime Lake. You see many species of Birds and Fish whilst walking along the many canals.

« Newly refurbished room. Clean. Spacious. »

Good sized room. Nearly refurbished. Was a bit noisy right next to bar, but as we were up till the same time wasn't an issue. Accepts contactless. Attended a function. Could have done with an extra bar staff for much of the night.

    4
    « All fine »

Check in easy and friendly. Clear information about hotel etc. Rooms are clean. Location is good as it is close to a park and a beautiful church. Breakfast is not the best. You can see and taste that saving money place a role. Waiter is not really educated for the job and does not like to work in a hotel. Both is not giving a good start into the day and will remain for making a decision next time.

    « Barker/Gradwell wedding »

Well where do we start! My husband & I have been knocked away with the customer service, thoughtfulness and planning that went into our special day at Smokies 23rd March 2018 Sophie Rothwell the  Wedding & Sales Co-ordinator could not have looked after us better!  (even if she had been the Matron of honour/Best man) she ran up & down stairs and corridors, directing, organising, and steering guests and grandchildren checking on the groom plying the bride with packets of biscuits handing out gifts, dressing the rooms to perfection and all this with a smile on her face. So on behalf of Mr & Mrs Darren Barker and all of their family and friends  THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING xxxx

    « my wedding 31st march 2018 »

Well where do i start with this amazing hotel, the day me and my partner walked in to view the room all the way to the wedding day Sophie made us feel so welcome. We fell in love with the room and all the staff are amazing and friendly we visited a lot for the Sunday carvery to organise the wedding as this is absolutely gorgeous. Back to the wedding I admit I was a little like a bridezilla but nothing was to much for them they accommodated on everything I asked for and wanted and didn't want, nothing was to much trouble I apologise to the chef I bet I was a nightmare. The staff on reception was amazing and so friendly. I am gutted my wedding is over but that won't stop me still returning for a Sunday carvery. The bedrooms are perfect and the beds are so comfy. Thank you for all being so kind helpful and making my day so perfect. Mr and Mrs Haggerty

« Great hotel for a fair price »

We booked through Hotels.com a couple of rooms but some of our party had to rearrange their stay last minute and kindly the hotel agreed to move their stay with no issues. We arrived about 10.45pm and seemed to get the last space in the carpark not sure if there was more parking elsewhere but the carpark didn't seem that big for the size of the hotel. We booked a standard room but were pleasantly surprised on check in that we were upgraded to an executive room which was lovely - quiet part of the hotel, big room with a lounge area, comfy bed, nice toiletries. The room was clean but some areas need a little extra clean - layer of dust round some items of the bathroom - like toilet roll holder and toiletry dish etc Check in and check out was quick, friendly and easy, we didn't stay for breakfast so can't comment but will definitely stay again if in the area.

    « So nearly a 5! »

Booked a standard room but on arrival was allocated an ?executive? room. Staff were very friendly at check-in and on checking out. Very spacious room, large king size bed and 2 sofas. Fridge, tea/coffee, iron and ironing board, flat screen tv. Room was very clean in the main with one notable exception which was the ?gift? left in the toilet bowl, presumably by the previous occupant and missed by the cleaner! Quickly dealt with but not what you expect. Having said that I will stay here again in the future.

    « Up to standard »

Stayed one night and I'm quite a regular visitor so check in was speedy as usual. Room was good, clean and spacious(126). Staff were friendly and welcoming in the reception, bar and restaurant with a good breakfast offering.

    « Very nice stay »

The hotel is very nice and the staff were lovely! The bed was really comfy and massive for a double bed. The only slight problem was the lights were very dim in the room but that didn't cause much distress. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone.

« The weather was frightful, my stay was delightful »

I've had a two night stay at best western hotel Smokies park and I can honestly say I have enjoyed my stay, the staff have been very helpful also the rooms were very nice with the added bonus of shower pressure. Breakfast was delightful, the weather was atrocious which brought the hotel to be full, this did not affect my stay as the staff handled the influx of people very well. I would return.

    « Wedding Vow Renewal »

We were renewing our wedding vows but had the whole ceremony etc. Staff were absolutely fantastic, Sophie organising everything with me and Becky on the day. All our friends and family really enjoyed themselves, we were in the Medlock suite, all the meals were served hot with no complaints, table decorations just as we wanted and perfect. it was fabulous and floorless from start to finish. Brilliant day, thank you very much to all the staff, and we would recommend this venue, the Buffet was fab and no one was left hungry, night staff were very friendly in the guest bar for those who were staying, sandwiches for us left in our room as requested, hot buffet breakfast in the morning, just couldn't fault anything, for those looking for a venue to celebrate etc this is the perfect venue in our opinion. Thank you all again,

    « 50th Birthday party »

Enjoyed a wonderful birthday party in the Crompton Suite, fab service from start to finish, special thanks to Becky on the night who was so helpful & even arranged at last min for two veggie meals for the buffet! The buffet was fab, so much of it, no one went hungry!! We also stayed overnight with lots of our guests so a big thanks to the guys who looked after us in the residents bar until the small wee hours! Breakfast was really good (hot buffet style) lots of it and was kept fresh & hot! Overall I would definitely recommend Smokies to anyone thinking of having that special occasion! Thanks again!

    « ?? »

We visited this hotel for one night stay for our friends 50th. Very dated facilities. Room 306.. dirty with broken shower. Carpet could have done with a proper vacuum, visible dust everywhere even the kettle! Bed nice and comfy.

« Overnight stay in Oldham »

Could have been a really challenging stay. Very large wedding party coincided with our visit and then the 24 hour sandwich availability was vastly reduced when we came back at 10.00 feeling very peckish. Both possible pitfalls were handled very well by the bar and reception staff. The rooms were spacious and clean and we were made to very welcome. Would have no hesitation in returning.

    « Meh »

Car park was a nightmare as big event at neighbouring restaurant. Hotel ok. Staff pleasant enough. Room ok. Power shower the highlight of stay. Room a bit bland but most BW's are. But wasn't bad. Stayed in worse!

    « Fantastic »

Have just had a stay there for 5 nights. The hotel made my stay so comfortable. All the staff where friendly and polite and always willing to help. The rooms are clean, comfortable and a good size. Extremely quiet. Only are in the bar but enjoyed the food. Only issue was the fact you can't order the restaurant food for the bar, which then limits your choices if you don't want to eat in the restaurant. Breakfast was really nice and staff were polite and helpful. Just 1 day I wanted Eggs Florentine but was told there was no spinach or muffins.

    5
    « Fantastic stay »

We stayed in their standard room which was surprisingly large and very clean with a kingsize bed. We ate in the bar and the food was gorgeous. It was plentiful, well presented and very tasty. Special thanks to Miguel behind the bar for his excellent service and his charm and witty sense of humour that kept us both bemused and entertained all evening. We will definitly be returning.

    « A pleasant stay »

A nice hotel with a comfortable room and friendly staff. Had an issue with room cleanliness, moving a coffee table exposed a lot of long black hair as if cleaned from a hair brush and moving a lamp over to put something down a top had to be wiped as it was covered with a sticky black substance (????) assuming something was spilt and not cleaned up. Meals were good.

    « Wedding »

Had our wedding here 23rd December 2017 couldn't of picked a better venue, the staff are amazing, the rooms were fab such a perfect day would highly recommend to any perspective brides and grooms, thankyou from Mr and Mrs Clarke.

« Quiet and tranquil 3rd floor room and spotlessley clean. »

Amy was one of the nicest receptionists we have ever encountered. Calm, with a lovely personality and very informative. She set the scene for a very comfortable stay. We grabbed a sandwich and a drink before we left for our family birthday party at another venue, so we cannot give feedback on the dining experience. However, our room on the 3rd floor was absolutely spotless and overlooked a small farm with horses in the paddock. Breakfast was first class with a huge choice of dishes. A really nice hotel and great value for money.

    5
    « Great stay again »

Got to say, the staff are brilliant here, the house keeping lady, different class, couldn't do enough for you, the rooms were clean tidy, and stocked well, Never had one complaint, the reception was really switched on, and answered all questions, stayed new years Eve, well done all ????????

    « Our PERFECT day »

We recently got married at Smokies. I can not praise all the staff enough for their continued professionalism. Sophie was our wedding planner and nothing has ever been to much trouble. She and all the staff have gone above and beyond to make our day perfect, which is what it was. Our day ran very smooth and stress free. We had Becki to manage the day. The communication between staff and us was great. We couldn't have asked for more! The wedding breakfast was delicious. The evening buffet was fabulous, we had a great choice of food and all our guests have commented on the excellent quality of the food throughout the day. The rooms were all very clean and spacious. Fantastic day, fantastic venue definitely worth 5 ??????????

    « My Wedding »

The best place to hold a wedding by far! From the initial wedding show to the big day nothing was to much trouble for Sophie and the team, everything planned to precision and perfectly executed on the day. Me and my new wife could not of asked for anything more, it just made our day even more special. Rooms were all clean, check in was effortless and breakfast was delicious and plenty of variety. All our guests were really pleased with the hotel overall and a definite talking point was the quantity and variety of food on offer. For anyone planning a wedding I couldn't recommend any other venue, they take the stress out of the panning to leave you to enjoy the experience. A huge thank you again to Sophie and the team

« Birthday and Christmas celebration »

We were having our Christmas work party at smokies carnival night and as it was also my partner's birthday ,I decided to book a "superior" room as a suprise. The party night was fantastic,it's our 3rd year celebrating at smokies and as always it was fabulous night, everyone had a great time, the entertainment is first class, the staff are so friendly and work so hard to make it a memorable night, only one complaint, the drink prices are so high even by hotel standards!!!!But we all enjoyed it so much and will most likely go next year too!! Now to the room! It was big. But....their were two bulbs out in the bathroom,I needed some light to put my make up on,so I asked reception and they sent someone to change one bulb. It lasted maybe 10 minutes...they changed it again....5mins later it started flashing then went out! There wasn't enough light anywhere in the room to do make up The wardrobe area had about 4or 5 lights but no mirror!!! I was quite disappointed with the room ,being called superior, but all there was was alotvof empty space and it was gloomy and also it was very dusty on the lamps and the bedhead, could do better if it's premium price and superior. We were offered another room but they were all the same, just lit by two bedside lights. The bed tho,was very comfortable and huge Don't know if I'd stay their again, even for a night out

« Nice hotel but freezing bedrooms »

Lovely hotel, very comfortable beds, kettle with cups etc, hairdryer, bath and shower all lovely. Staff lovely and helpful but rooms were freezing, bathroom was extremely cold when having a bath. Told receptionist and she immediately gave me a heater. Passage ways were also freezing but bar and restaurant where warm

    « Poor executive rooms »

Stayed a year ago and this visit we upgraded to an executive room On arrival room wasn't ready had to wait an hour It was freezing, so we're the corridors No hot water no shower working They brought a heater as it was so cold Bedside lamp not working And woken 4.30am then again 6am by fire alarms . Rang reception and was told someone had fallen asleep in the shower and it set it off .. then it went off again 2 hours later ?? Not good enough ! Expect better from Best Western especially as we booked an executive room

    « Simple but clean »

I stayed for two days in this older hotel . The room's are very clean with vert attentive service. There is an attached restaurant which is very good, a good place for a short stay. I would recommend this hotel if you are in the area.

    4
    « Halfway back »

Decided on this location as it was in the middle of visits the following day. On arrival looked to be in good fair with Christmas lights around the car park. A very warm welcome at reception and everything you needed to know was explained in a polite manner. Room was very spacious with all the mod cons and although close to the main road the room was quite, regarding the room I was impressed that the shower curtain had been weighted and trimmed back so not causing a possible slip or trip hazard as with other hotels, and I did pass my thoughts on to the front desk for house keeping. The bar area was well set out and the food was plentiful and a well stocked bar All in all yes I will be back

« Large, comfortable room, friendly staff »

The hotel is not that well signposted so is easy to miss particularly driving on Ashton Road from Oldham with the hotel set back from the road down towards the bottom of a steep hill known locally as Bardsley Brew. The hotel is clean and modern, staff were universally friendly and the room we were in (205) was well appointed and larger than the norm in chain hotels and sported a superking bed. Breakfast was a Best Western standard buffet with a range of cereals, fruit and all the elements of a full English including decent quality bacon. Coffee in large vacuum jugs could have been hotter and the buffet suffered, as in all the Best Westerns I have stayed in, with the bread in the baskets for toasting passable when toasted but akin to cardboard if eaten as bread and butter. The commercial toaster, incidentally, is excellent - as long as guests don't fiddle with the settings. With those few reservations it is a good breakfast with reasonable choice and, as it is a buffet, enough for the largest appetites. There are also extra items that can be ordered such as poached or boiled eggs. Hotels gain a useful income from weddings and parties at weekends and there was at least one filling the bar on the night we stayed but to be fair even with the evening reception in full swing, we heard no noise in our room or in reception, but receptions and parties create an added problem for guests. We returned from a meal with friends just after 10pm and parking was a problem with every space taken, not aided by some inconsiderate parking by people ignoring the white lines of parking spaces. We drove around a couple of times and were even considering asking for a refund and checking out when a car left and a space became available. I accept hotels have to make money and, hopefully, income from wedding receptions, helps reduce room rates, but it would help if some spaces were reserved for residents only. Your car registration is logged at reception which seems a pointless exercise when many of the spaces are taken by unregistered wedding guests. There is plenty of parking at the hotel but parties and receptions put a real strain on spaces available for residents.

    « Happy helpful staff »

We stayed here last weekend on a Friday and Saturday night Good size room bathroom a little tired but good value for money. Comfortable beds, good free parking. CLose to the countryside where we enjoyed a walk and also handy for a theatre visit to HOME in Manchester and the Christmas markets. Would use again when we are next in the area

    « Our wedding »

We had our wedding ceremony at smokies on Saturday 4th Nov. This was followed by a hot buffet for family at friends and then an evening party with a further cold buffet. The whole day and night were fantastic. Sophie was our wedding planner and coordinated everything for us. She was so kind and friendly putting me at ease so I didn't have to worry about anything on the day. We even had a glitch were the music cd I gave her for the ceremony didn't work and she sorted it without me even knowing an hour before. Amazing lady. The ceremony was beautifully dressed, and everything was discreetly turned round quickly ready for the meal and night time party . Again all the tables were dressed beautifully exactly as we had wanted it. Best Western Smokies was a lovely venue. Thank you to Sophie and her team for any amazing wedding. Dawn and Colin

    « Great breakfast! »

Room 117, ground floor. Nice, warm and comfy. Cooked breakfast in the morning was great - unlike the normal dried biscuit of black pudding, you are treated to a moist and succulent bloody delight! Three scrambled eggs were really tasty too, pesos because the chef hadn't cheapened the dish by adding too much milk.

    « Daughters wedding »

We held our daughters wedding at Smokies, and cannot fault anything. Sophie was fabulous she went above and beyond to ensure the day ran smoothly. I cannot thank her enough. All the staff were extremely helpful. Food was great everyone commented on how nice it was. The room was decorated beautifully. All in all a perfect day....Thanks to Sophie and her team.

« Might be the best in Oldham but... »

....business meeting here. On the very transaction reception were so slow it was painful. Ages to sort anything Whilst in reception and bar having a coffee, listened to staff openly slate management and use some choice language doing it Ages to get served in bar Lock broken on toilet door - had people walk in on me and watched it happen to others Chairs in bar "sticky". The whole place felt like the 1970s was back!! Saving graces: Reception staff very helpful and polite (just excruciatingly slow)?? Member of staff who served meeting room was very nice and helpful?? Food, surprisingly good ?? Overall, I'd not choose to use and definitely wouldn't want to stay! Sorry!

« staff nice but a little lacking in places »

Check in was very nice and pleasant and the lady was very helpful and suggested a very nice walk. The room was very nice but the heating was not very good (I was given a fan heater) the towel rail was switched off and when I asked how to turn it on I was told they had all been disconnected as they get to hot! The restaurant was cold as the heating had broken despite a number of heaters being used. A number of choices were not available but the food that was on was very good. Check out in the morning was a bit of a disaster as the night porter was laying up for breakfast so I had to wait for 10 minutes (I was in a rush to an early meeting). I guess could do better is the strap line.

    4
    « GOOD UPGRADE »

Used this hotel as cheaper option to the usual airport hotels, so we arrived late and left early. Check out was a little slow. Received a very good upgrade (with the highest coat hooks I have ever seen!) and had an enjoyable meal in the bar.

    « Good night's sleep but ..... »

Booked in here for one night on business. Check in was quick and easy, room a bit of a strange shape with a sloped ceiling. I had been given a room which was adapted which didn't matter to me but the shower was very cramped and I struggled to shower in it. Dinner in the bar was ok nothing flash. I slept very well bed was super comfy,

« Good value for money »

Reception staff very friendly on arrival as were breakfast staff and cleaning staff. Pleasent room good size very clean, there were some stains on the ceiling and wall which let it down slightly. Tea tray and toileteries good. Comfy bed and quiet room. Shower powerful but would have liked it a bit hotter.excellent breakfast plenty to choose from buffet style,in a pleasant atmosphere. Toaster was too slow took ages to Brown bread. Handy for visiting manchester arena. Good value paid £88 for room and breakfast ,I would stay here again.

    « Business Stay »

Ok so you're not spoilt for choice in hotels in this area, but Smokies Park does a good job. It looks like the hotel has just been repainted so the decor was good On arrival I found the reception staff to be friendly and helpful with the same on checking out. The room was nicely decorated and certainly well maintained. To eat I stayed in the bar which served basic foods burgers, steaks, chips etc. The bar was great as there were very few people in on both nights I stayed. Breakfast was ok but I really wish the staff wouldn't address me as ?mate? just a little bit familiar. The real downside of this hotel is the parking if you're a little late arriving then you will struggle All in all the hotel is perfectly acceptable

    4
« A Good Hotel to stay in if in the area »

Stayed overnight on business in the area. This hotel was more than adequate. Dined in the restaurant which was very reasonable with plenty of food. The breakfast was just as good with a wide choice. Business it likely to take back to this area in the future and will stay here again.

    « Free upgrade »

I stay at this hotel about 6 tines per year. But on this occasion I was given a free upgrade to an executive room. The room size was great and some nice touches also, bathrobes, slippers, toothbrush, shaving kit etc. On the downside the decor of the room was poor: damaged laminate, air bath not working, tv reception poor, water pressure in the shower poor. Come on Best Western, get it sorted!

« Lovely Hotel, lovely staff! »

Stayed there for two nights in the last week. Lovely clean accommodation. Rooms large, toiletries all provided. Restaurant and bar snacks really good. Staff really nice and friendly. This is our second stay. We have just signed up for their benefits package.

« Great Hotel with caring staff »

Stayed here for a week on business. The checking process could not be any better. Arrived at the hotel at around 9:00am as my flight from US arrives into Manchester very early in the morning. Jay was the one who checked me in and initially I was told that I could not check in until 2:00pm but after explaining to Jay that I had just come from overseas and did not have any where to go and that I am going to be waiting in the lobby. He immediately got in touch with house keeping and got a room ready for me withing half hour. Thank you Jay. The room that was assigned was really great with one problem: it was in a corner of the hotel and I was having a lot of trouble with WiFi access. Went down to the reception in the evening and told about the problem. Amy, who was at the reception at time, said that she would reset the router and see if the service improved. It did not, so I went to the reception again and she immediately tried to find me a different room. There was no room available until the next day, so Amy left a note for the morning staff informing them of changing my room. The next day after I returned from work, not only did she changed my room but also upgraded the room for free of charge. Thank you very much, Amy and Jay, for accommodating me and addressing my problem.

    « 2nd Visit »

This is my 2nd stay here and I chose to stay here this time after my last visit. The hotel is clean and tidy, the staff very helpful and friendly. I ate here last time and although, as with most hotels, there is not a huge choice on the menu, the food was quite nice and priced fairly. I have used the gym whilst here this time and it is more of a small room with some exercise equipment, but adequate. I would definitely stay here again.

    « A lovely stay! »

My son and I stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed out stay. It was all we could ask for. Comfortable beds and a good room and a tasty breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. Car parking was good at the front of the hotel although busy some nights!

    « Surprisingly Good! »

I stayed here with my Fiance on Saturday night while we were attending our engagement party nearby and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how good it actually was. Both the reception and bar staff provided excellent service, nothing was too much trouble. The decor in the bar was great and our room was both well decorated and very clean. There was a wedding on the day we arrived, when we entered the bar the wedding party were just leaving to go to one of the function suites and a small army decended on the bar, within 3 minutes all furniture was back where it should be, tables cleaned, glasses cleared away and you wouldn't have known anything had happened. Very impressed. Honestly couldn't fault this hotel, especially for the price we paid and we will definitely be back.

Stayed here for work last month. Its easy to find and its a decent sized car park. It looks nice from the outside and is equally nice inside. Room was tidy and clean and the restaurant was pretty good as well Would stay there again if nearby

Stayed for a cycling race, great for parking van, brilliant room service food was delicious. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Both nights there was a wedding on and we were woken up early morning with noise but apart from that could not fault the hotel, would recommend and stay again

« Great place to stay »

I am staying on a room only basis and found it to be very comfortable for my 4 weeks working in Oldham. The staff are very helpful and my room was kept clean and tidy by the cleaning staff, always refilled my biccies and coffee as well as the bathroom stuff.

Booked for 1 night are last minute as local job overran. Rooms a little dated in decor but large size, very clean and very comfortable. Price is incredibly good value. Have already booked another night for next week.

    « Very Nice Hotel »

Stayed here for 8 days just recently, we were very pleased with the room we had and the service from the folks at the Front Desk was just great. As we were visiting from Canada we needed lots of help getting around and these people were only too happy to help us, calling cabs and telling us the best places to go etc. We had great meals in the restaurant but only had one breakfast as we found it expensive just for a Continental one. I would highly recommend this place to anyone for a great stay, many thanks to the young lady on the front desk and the young man who helped us so much, would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    « What a shambles »

We had booked a superior room but the only thing that was superior was the dust and dirt. When we complained to reception we were offered an alternative but it was not superior. The bed was a double not s king. We decided to go for drink in the bar to destress. The lift was filthy with a crisp bag in the corner which was still there 4 hours later. The floor of the bar had crisps around the seating area. We won't be coming back

« Wedding in the Crompton Suite »

From the moment we booked our wedding and right throughout our day nothing was too much trouble. Sophie went out of her way to ensure we were happy and spent the time to talk about our plans. She was also very helpful following the wedding when we could'nt find a few of our items from our day. The Crompton suite was dressed beautifully. The wedding breakfast and evening buffet were really nice. Many people commented on the meat and potato pie! The hotel room was very clean and spacious. I would love to do it all again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel for a wedding. Thankyou Smokies for co-ordinating our special day and for the memories that will last a lifetime.

« Great for a short business trip »

Nice hotel, good service, and good rooms. Breakfast buffet all you can eat. The bar in the evening serves food in addition to the restaurant. Drinks are a bit pricey, but that is just how hotels are. The best thing about the bar was Diane the bar tender, she was busy all the time but chatty and welcoming.

« Grubby, Poorly run, and falling to bits »

Paid a pretty penny for this place for an 'executive' room. When we got there we were told they had 'a problem with the room' and told us we could have the bridal suite for the night but we would have to move in the morning to another room. This basically meant we couldn't settle and enjoy our weekend. Car park really tight - almost no room to open your doors without them hitting the vehicle next to you. Can't imagine how much damage gets done here. As far as the bridal suite went it was cluttered, a bit grubby, the loft type window was dirty - and the shape and angles in the room resulted in a ton of wasted space. The curtains didn't fit properly so the rising sun burned in through the windows like a lazer. The traffic noise was utterly horrendous. I know it's on an A road, but I've slept in hotel rooms in the busiest parts of New York & San Francisco and I can honestly say this place sucks for noise. Laminate flooring damaged (and a pretty noisy option for a hotel, WTF?). Dust and dirt under the bed where it had not been cleaned properly. Plus points - the bed was comfortable and if it wasn't for the noise would have probably got a half decent nights sleep on it. Stingy on the milk and toilet roll given the money they were charging. Moved to a room the other end of the floor the following day (401). Sink damaged in bathroom. Floor still wet. Leaking toilet inlet pipe. Poorly fitted bath that door collides into. Fan in bathroom faulty and making enough noise to wake the dead. TV's too small for the room and out of date lacking a guide feature. General building fabric grubby. Looked at the 'free' breakfast and left it alone - felt it would be safer given the amount of toilet roll left in the room. Used the filament lounge on the Sunday morning for food. Almost had to beg the guy to get served just wanted to move bottles around and ignore us. Rude and abrupt. Moaning to a colleague about the night before. Food OK, but table unstable and flies buzzing around the place. Fairly poor value for money. People and staff milling around the front door smoking. Place is a bit minging generally. Overall a pretty poor experience, Won't be back. Really bad value for money. If this is a 'Best Western' I'd really hate to see an 'Average Western'.

    « What a fiasko »

On arriving Around 10.30 pm found room not clean. Bedding clean but to our amazement On the writing desk was not one but two glasses of wine and in a carrier bag the remains of a take away. Night porter very pleasant. Should just put Them outside door for removal. Missing spoon to Coffee. I think cleaners got a little distracted and forgot to finish room. Cant think the staff had left Them for is - just incase was hungry. When got back to hotel saturday evening was greeted by blue flashing lights and police cars (Nice for My 14 year old granddaughter) Guess what a Nice quiet english wedding. Apart from All of this Cant fault the staff they were very polite. Hotel well not boring I must say. AM tempted to try different hotel next time. Not Even offered a rebate for dirty room.!!!

    « Wedding august 5th »

The majority of the staff were lovely yet those behind the bar need to learn to smile. The young girls who were there until 11pm serving food couldn't do enough for us. However management need to take a leaf out of their book. One manager shouted at a child at the wedding for running around and made him cry. However I believe this was dealt with. This woman needed to be more professional and remember that it's not her day. Moving on: Room - lovely and spacious. Beds ok and bathroom was fine. Just your standard 3* room. However the carpets in the corridor could do with updating. Breakfast: Poor. There were no pastries left at 9am and they said there will be no more. (Even though there's an hour left of service). The full English seemed ok, yet the fruit selection looked like it came from a tin? Overall we had a lovely time as guests at the wedding but I know I wouldn't chose my big day here. Very 3* which is what it is I guess....

    « Silver wedding party/vow renewal »

Just had a Silver Wedding/Vow Renewal on 25th July. Started planning 2 years ago and cannot fault Smokies. They did exactly what we required, not what they thought we wanted like other considered venues tried to do The "bride" and attendants stayed the night before and had a little party, and on the day Smokies staff looked after them with sandwiches and coffee at lunchtime whilst the got ready with hairdresser, make up etc. From the start of the ceremony until the end everything was like clockwork. With a menu choice for each course everyone was provided with the correct choice they had asked for. We had one Coeliac guest who was catered for even with a visit from the chef to explain how everything was kept Gluten free, even at breakfast the next morning. The provided DJ Marco did a great job. Stef the venue dresser did a fabulous job with the room, table settings, plans, place cards etc, and Lou the cake maker supplied us with a wonderful cupcake tower, away from the traditional wedding cake, along with Gluten free cupcakes. Guests who stayed the night on the 24th in one room and moved rooms on the Tuesday were given a very late checkout on the 25th, 4.00 pm., to allow them to get ready, the ceremony started at 4.30, and their clothes etc were moved into the second room without a hitch. They provided ample bar and service staff and all the staff were polite, considerate and helpful to any request. A special mention to Sarah who was with us from the start, and Sophie who ran the function on the day. Thank you Smokies you made our day special and I would recommend you to anyone.

« Wonderful Two Night Stay... »

We enjoyed a two night stay on a Friday and Saturday night this month. The hotel is set back off the road. There is ample car parking and the grounds give it a very welcoming appearance. The staff in this hotel are definitely its great feature. They are friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. Check in at reception was extremely quick and was done by Tom who is a very efficient and helpful young man. The room (219) was very spacious and immaculately clean. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room together with biscuits and a complimentary bottle of water. The king sized bed was very comfortable indeed and in the bathroom the Bath Sheets are large and good quality. Throughout our visit the chambermaid kept our room spotless. There is Free Wi fi throughout the hotel. The Filament Lounge is large and televisions are present should you wish to watch any sport. The Barman, Miguel is extremely friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant called [email protected] The Manager, Sophie and waitress Rhiannon are two lovely young ladies who are very friendly, helpful and extremely efficient. Should you wish to Breakfast at the hotel you should book through Reception as the cost is £9.50 as opposed to £12.95 should you pay in the restaurant. Breakfast is a Buffet arrangement. The price of staying at this hotel is very reasonable and represents excellent value.

    « Wedding Reception »

I attended a Wedding reception at Smokies for my friends Debbie and Mark, the room was lovely, the buffet was gorgeous, the whole reception seemed like it was organised and ran perfectly well. The staff were brilliant. The manager running the event, I think her name was Katie, was absolutely fabulous, she couldn't do enough for Debbie and Mark and all of their guests! She was a lovely girl and made everybody feel welcome, I would recommend Smokies to my friends and family and I would also recommend them to personally ask for Katie when visiting the hotel. Thank you so much Smokies!

    « Very decent accomodation »

Stayed over for the night. Shared a twin room with my son who remarked about how comfortable the room was. Very pleasant staff - check-in was seamless. Decent price as we had a weekend or some such deal. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because I found the sound-proofing questionable, as you could hear from the room all activity in the corridor. This disturbed my late lie in.

    « Great value »

Friendly and efficient staff. Some noise from running taps in adjacent bathrooms but good size room, very clean. Ground floor room was perfect - short walk from reception, bar and dining room. Free car parking and plenty of spaces. Well worth the money.

« Fantastic venue for our charity night »

We held our Charity Masquerade Ball at Smokies last week and it was a great success! The venue easily held >200 guests who were treated to a fabulous 3 course meal - feedback on this was excellent (especially about the beef and the cheesecake!). The staff were friendly and Sophie was super helpful and ensured the night ran smoothly! This was the 3rd event we have held there and we wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

    « Not Great »

Stayed for two nights at Smokies Park, Very welcoming and helpful at reception, ground floor inside room, and the rooms were a good size, and a comfortable six foot bed was a nice surprise. unfortunately, thats where it ends. The rooms are noisy, you can hear the other guests in adjacent rooms using their bathrooms, running water etc. The traffic in the corridor echo's like mad. We went to the bar for some lunch when we arrived. We had to call reception for service ( a bit odd) and then waited 15 minutes for someone to turn up. Nice lunch though, nice and fresh, and generous portions. Saturday Morning, friendly helpful staff in [email protected] smokies, usual hot and cold breakfast available, tea, coffee etc. The hit food didn't look that appetising, so didn't try it. Evening function went smoothly. Saturday breakfast, same as Friday, but not such a warm welcome, it felt like we were more of a hinderance, rather than a guest of the hotel. Not on my list of places to revisit.

« So pleased we chose Best Western Smokies Park for our wedding! »

We've just had our wedding reception at this fantastic hotel. We couldn't fault the whole experience. Sarah, the wedding co-ordinator was really helpful, pleasant and experienced. She made us feel so at ease and tailored the wedding superbably to our specific requirements. The staff on the day were brilliant, especially Sophie the Duty Manager, who ensured everything went so smoothly and she was so personable and experienced. We held our reception in the Medlock Suite which looked fantastic, the food and service were wonderful. We had a complimentary honeymoon suite which was also great. Many of our guests stayed overnight for the wedding and they also all enjoyed their stay and the occasion. Overall we can honestly say that Best Western Smokies Park did us proud, couldn't fault any of the experience and would definitely recommend this Hotel. Well done to all the staff- you're a credit to the Hotel. A huge Thank You to you all from us newlyweds xx

« Pleasant stay but not good value for money. »

My partner and I stayed here for a friend wedding. On arrival the staff very pleasant we paid for our room £88. Our room was clean and adequate for our needs however the decor is a bit tired. We had one small bottle of water between us and just 2 sachets of coffee and 1 biscuit. Reception happily give us more but I expect a bit more for the price. We ate in the bar it was expensive and disappointing. I had Welsh Raebit which comprised of a small English muffin that was very chewy and tasteless with a few salad leaves. My partner had hotdog and chips, he enjoyed it but £10.95 is very expensive. Drinks also very expensive. We had a pleasant stay the staff are very nice. Very average no wow factor.

« Best place to stay in Oldham »

Reside in Australia now, but always stay at Smokie's when back in Oldham. Made the mistake of one night at 247 Hotel, and will never make the same mistake. The staff are friendly and helpful. Even the cleaning staff interact and are good for a laugh, and accomodate to your needs. Rooms are well kept and have all required amenities. The beds are comfy, rooms are spacious, and there is little noise from outside. All meals are available in the bar/restaurant, however, I did find them to be a little pricey. Having said that, the meal quality cannot be faulted. There is a small gym and sauna, free of charge, which is great considering other places would slap more cost. The hotel is in walking distance of several shops, takeaways and post office. Daisy Nook is literally next door, where you can escape into the English woods. Travel wise, there is a bus stop 100 metres up the road, with frequent buses to Oldham, Rochdale and Ashton. From there, you can get buses and trams to Manchester.

    « Lovely Hotel »

« Fine for an overnight »

We stayed here for one night as part of a theatre trip to the Coliseum in Oldham where our friend was performing. Gentleman at reception on arrival was helpful & pleasant & printed out directions to the theatre for us & advised on a place to eat in town before the show - Joe's Smokehouse - very good burgers & friendly staff & only a couple of miles away. Our room was adequate for one night, clean comfortable bed, bathroom was a bit tired but again clean enough. We paid £9.50 each in advance (12.95) on the day for breakfast which was buffet style & what you'd expect from a hotel chain but slightly over priced in our opinion. At check out the lady there asked if everything had been alright & had we enjoyed the show which we felt was a nice touch. We would return if we were ever in Oldham again.

    « Training »

Visited Smokies Park for a training course, lady on reception was helpful, directed me to the disabled toilet but it didn't lock, thankfully no-one walked in on me! Was then directed to "the boardroom" sounds very grand but in reality it's more like a cupboard, good job I didn't have a cat to swing as there wasn't enough room! Training started and all was well until the tea and coffee was brought in by a bloke who had an immense cloud of B.O. surrounding him. Took around 10 mins for the smell to ease. Then he came back to take our lunch order, again bringing the fragrance with him. Lunch was served in the bar area, which had a similar temperature to Iceland - I am never cold, wander round in t shirts in the winter but it was absolutely freezing in here. The food had been sat in this cold room so by time we got there it was tepid. The halloumi and Mediterranean veg flatbread was ok, would have been lovely if warm and the bread soft but it was rock hard. Back to training after lunch and 2 more visits from stinky man. No idea how he gets away with working in hospitality and smelling like that! Overall won't be returning or booking any other courses there.

    « Nice hotel »

The room was decent size and clean. The rate of £58 for a nice was nice & cheap. Nothing to do in local area. So if it is just somewhere to get your head down then this is a great little hotel. Check when booking if breakfast is included if not you have to pay nearly a extra £10. This was my fault and nothing to do with hotel. I did have the breakfast and it was very nice.

    « DON'T BOTHER EATING DINNER THERE. »

Only positive was the friendly staff. Had dinner. A lot of the menu was chargrill, but the chargrill had broken. Dinner we had was disgusting - worst spaghetti Bolognese I have ever had and left most of it. Creamed potato was lumpy. I did make a complaint. Chef should be retrained. Beer prices a rip off - £4.20 pint of lager. Room was too hot. Could not open window to cool down, because latch broken and would have let intruders in.

    « Lovely place »

When i think of budget hotel, my thoughts go to struggling to sleep because of noise or rotting rooms, (I used to work for Britain is hotels). Coming here we got a free upgrade because our room wasn't ready to one of the best suites. Bath didn't fully work and the ironing board cover needed changing but apart from that, was awesome. Massive comfy bed, spacious room and nice corridors with enough room outside to park too. Very impressed

« New Year Party, late review »

Came here @ New Year for one of their parties. All I can say is it was excellent throughout. Room was nicely done up, tables were well thought out, there was enough space (just about), the food came out a table at a time, and was hot and well cooked. The entertainer was very good, gave us some Elvis then played decent music up to the New Year bit. If I had one criticism, it's the arrival process; you book a party and it's in a particular room (there are 3 or else 4 possibles), and seeing as you booked it months before, you can't remember which actual room it's in nor what the party was called, so there were lots of people wandering about to find their respective party - so perhaps make a bigger better set of posters next time. Oh and £35 for a bottle of Prosecco is a bit steep even for a hotel.

    4
    « Friendly service »

This is a really nice hotel for a reasonable price. I would highly recommend it. The staff will go out there way to make you feel welcome. Especially Leanne. The food was very reasonable and of a very good quality.

    « Disappointing dinner »

Booked the restaurant to celebrate elderly relatives birthday, 9 people in total. The restaurant is part of a hotel, which is very convenient as we had invited some long distance guests. Normally we have had no issues, this is not the first tome we have eaten here. There are very few decent restaurants otside the city centre of Manchester. We had a disappionting evening as there was a wedding taking lace at same time and that meant: - Long wait at the bar to get drinks for the guests - the bar staff (one person) had to run around and could not attend the people in the bar properly. - Restaurant itself : the beef fillet was not available. - Very slow service from the kitchen for starters and also main course - 30 mins at least? On the plus side, the staff themselves, although stressed, remained polite and professional, excusing the delays and poor service. Recognising how long we had to wait for some of the main dishese, one of the bottles of wine was deducted from the invoice.

    « Smokies »

I have stayed in the hotel for 2 nights whilst in the area, very tidy hotel first visit, room good size, only down side was a lack of menu choice and it was a bit expensive, the main restaurant only serving xmas food in november so we ended in the bar. I arrived nearly 8pm friday night very limited parking due to functions, there was some loud music around 2am saturday morning but other than that a good hotel, very clean. I may use again. £12 for breakfast is a rip off but many hotels charging similar amount so cannot fault them in that.

Attended The Alpine Adventure with my colleagues from Office Depot. This is the fourth consecutive year we have had our team Christmas Party night and it get's better every year. What a fabulous night.Great choice of music and entertainment, games etc from Lloyd and his lovely dancers. Brilliant photo booth and ski machine. Food was lovely. There were 12 in my party and each and every person complimented the food. The ice cream bike was a great idea and the lovely Pepe never fails to entertain. Can't wait for Christmas 2017! Overnight stay - My husband and I stayed over as usual. Great room, very clean and lovely comfy bed and great breakfast. Went to breakfast with our friends that stayed over as well and we were looked after again by the lovely Pepe. He really is a credit to Smokies. Thanks all for a great night .Would highly recommend.

« Reasonable location and facilities but poor quality food. »

We stayed for one night to attend a local function at the Oldham Rugby Union Football Club ( Which was excellent), we decided to have dinner at the hotel but timing meant we had to order from the bar menu. The first course was salmon and prawns with lettuce and diced veg, it smelt like the lettuce had been washed and dried with a stale tea towel it was quite pungent but difficult to pinpoint, though the salmon tasted fine. My second course was gammon with egg which arrived absolutely nuked, dry, and tasteless. The egg had equally been overcooked and was like rubber and solid. We were already running late so ate what was edible and left the rest. My wife's meal soup and steak were Ok but nothing to write home about. We reported the disappointment on checkout and this was duly noted and I also left my contact e mail address to date I have had no apology. Which is indicative of a lack of customer care and concern, in my opinion. I have stayed at Best westerns all over the world including FRANCE, Italy and the UK and in fairness most have been very good franchised restaurants run at the higher end than cafe style. I guess we expected better?

    « ANOTHER PLEASANT STAY »

We have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions in recent years as it provides a good half-way venue at which to meet friends. As in the past, the room was clean and tidy and the bed comfortable. The bathroom is of an acceptable size, with a combined bath/shower. We ate in the restaurant, which was quite busy but the food, as in the past, was very good in quality and value. There was a boxing tournament taking place in the event room but this did not disturb our enjoyment of the evening.

Spent the afternoon and early evening at the Best Western hotel, Smokies for a charity boxing event hosted by Stealth boxing promotions in Nov 2016. Great venue, very hospitable staff, all in all a great day.

    « Not a wedding review »

I have stayed here a few time in connection with work. It seems as though the wedding side and functions are really pushed to the extreme. The food in the bar is hit and miss mostly miss and can take am age to arrive. Bar prices are steep. Room in comfrotable but dated and not for the first time I found 'adult' lubricant in the bathroom so not sure what the standard of cleaning is or what goes on in the room and I do not really want to know. To sum up if you can stay at a newish Premier Inn them do so

« Our wedding at Smokies »

We really can't praise the staff and service highly enough! From the very first meeting with Sarah, the wedding coordinator, nothing was too much trouble to make sure our special day was perfect, even down to Sophie sewing a jewel back onto my wife's dress. On the day itself, Shaun was on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly, running through the order of things to make sure we knew what would happen, and when. Then, after the ceremony, he took us into the room to check we were happy with the layout and look of the room for the wedding breakfast and evening reception. Steph, the lady who dressed the room did a fantastic job, and the overall effect was stunning! Everybody said what a fantastic time they had, and we would highly recommend everybody get married at this amazing venue!

« Excellent Staff, comfortable hotel »

The staff here are the outstanding feature, friendly, helpful and professional. There has been quite a bit of recent redecoration, giving the place an attractive contemporary style. My room was clean and bed very comfortable, so all in all a great stay. I travelled by train and used Stalybridge station, which has a taxi rank rather than the closer Ashton-Under-Lyme, which doesn't.

« Staff make the hotel »

This hotel is comfortable, a little worn in places but the staff make up for any hotel comfort short comings. The breakfast range & quality are very good but again the highlight is the quality of the staff, all are friendly & have a professional manner. 3 nights I spent @ this hotel & yes I would return. Recommended.

    « Comfortable »

My company booked me in here and what a pleasant experience. Staying in an executive room it was clean , spacious and quiet. I decided to eat in the hotel restaurant and the staff were polite and efficient. The food was superb, home made veg soup to start and rump of lamb with winter veg all cooked to perfection. A nightcap in the bar rounded off a lovely experience. This hotel is a credit to the Best Western network and i will defiantly choose here again if I'm in the area.

« OK hotel but problems with noise »

Hotel is OK, staff generally helpful and rooms are fine. Parking is very tight but the biggest problem is noise. The hotel has a couple of function rooms and when they have parties the guests may not leave till the early hours of the morning. We couldn't get to sleep till 3:30 as people were talking outside in the car park and in the corridor.

« Staff make all of the difference »

The rooms and the hotel are great. My friends, family and I were staying up for a powerlifting competition and as such food was massively important to us. On all three nights, Ciara and Sophie served us and went above and beyond to ensure that our dietary needs were met. For this reason I am rating the hotel as very good and would like to pass on my thanks to them.

    « Wedding »

I have been planning our wedding at smokies for some time, the day eventually came this weekend. I stayed the night before with 12 of my girls on the executive floor. We were able to use the landing which was private on the third floor, I'd arranged for a buffet for us to be brought up on the landing and was looked after all night! The following morning they did a buffet breakfast which was perfect whilst we were all having hair and make up done! I had booked the executive wedding so we was the only ones to get married that day. I wanted my guest to be able to get rooms should they want to. I was taken downstairs to where the ceremony had been set up! I couldn't have been more impressed! It looked amazing! I could go on forever about every detail but in short! The staff the whole weekend were amazing, every single one of them! Sarah the wedding planner I can't thank enough for all your hard work, I will never forget how perfect you made our wedding! Stef (joyous moments). The decoration of our wedding although a little unconventional ?? was everything and more that I expected! The food, from the buffet I asked for on the Friday and Saturday through to the menu through the day was faultless! The buffet at night time was amazing! The bar staff and restaurant staff were the most accommodating and friendly! I can not tell you how super impressed Alan and I were at our fabulous wedding that you all played an amazing part in! Perfect is in understatement We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and cauldrons ??????????????xxx

    « Could do better »

Booked a weekend at Smokies, for myself and my wife, I have been to this hotel two or three times previously for work, and I thought it would have made a nice weekend away, so I booked an executive room. Unfortunately I don't think the room allocated, 503, was any better than a standard room, the room was up two flights of stairs, no lift, it was nicely finished, but there was only one easy chair in the room it also lacked a table so not ideal for two people for the weekend. Being on the top floor the room also suffered from a sloping ceiling, so lost some of the effective size. The room also seemed beyond the range of the Hotel Wifi. There was also quiet a bit of noise, from other areas finding its way in to our room. The bathroom had some black mould, in the corners and a rusty towel rail, so again missed the ideal grade, although the water pressure was good, and hot water was plentiful. Downstairs there was a lounge bar, which was individually designed, in a sort of faux industrial style, if there is such a thing. The restaurant is separate to the main hotel it's Ok but nothing special, the menu promised more than it delivered and it seemed there were minor variations between the menu and what arrived on the plate, I have rated it higher on previous visits, so it may be the functions took precedent. However the second night there was the worst, we nearly, and in hindsight should have gone out to eat. There was an adult family group who shouted and swore through there meal, we could not get out of the restaurant soon enough, the young waitress did apologise, but could not, and I would not expect her to do anything about it.

    « No sleep »

We booked this hotel because of the price and wanted a hotel to stop in the night before we flew. Around 1.00an we was woken up buy a group of people making a lot of noise this seemed to go on for a few hours . When told staff the following morning about that they seemed aware of this but nothing happened to control the noise.Apart from this hotel was nice for the price paid.

« The good, the bad and the ugly... »

Here for a 40th birthday party down the road. The hotel looks nice from the outside. The staff on reception were very nice. Our room was large and the bed was surprisingly comfy. The water was hot. Although the light in the bedroom was dim as a glow worms armpit in the bathroom it was pretty good. The tea bags in the room resulted in a lovely cuppa this morning. When we pointed out there was only one bag and one pack of biscuits were were given as many as we needed. The parking is tight when they are fully booked. We can't comment on the bar as there was a boxing celebration/presentation/tournament going on and we didn't fancy it. We didn't eat here either. Our room was located over the entrance to the bar and it was very, very noisy. We had asked for an upgrade or move but they were full... Clean? The bed linen was. The bathroom wasn't enhanced by the grubby grout, rust on the towel rail and a hair or two (not ours) around the edge of the bath. Infact the bathroom is truly horrid. It's a 1970s plastic modular design in cream not enhanced by the cigarette burn on the side of the sink. The carpets, furniture, fixtures and fittings are all awful. Old, worn and ugly. If you wanted to sit on the sofa to watch TV you can't...its behind the telly. This is on the shortest bracket in the world which means it can't be angled properly. All in all the 'Best' should be removed from the title. If this is the best God help the worst! This place is so overdue an upgrade and refurb I don't know how they can justify the £66 room only, to stay for the night. I'm thinking the newTravel Lodge up the road looks good and I hate Travel Lodges! Get your finger out Best Western... Your staff and customers deserve better!

On a positive note all staff were pleasant and friendly. The hotel however was unacceptable. We stayed 2 nights and had trouble getting parking both nights. We had room service with raw hamburgers. We had cold showers and on day 2 had to ring for toilet paper. Also noise from reception on night 1 and patrons leaving pub attached was annoying.

    « Medioka... »

Stayed here as a last minute thing, I general try to avoid best western & Britannia hotels due to the fact that they are usually outdated! Upon arrival there were plenty of free parking, we were greeted my a lovely reception team who explained everything that we needed to know! Room - first thoughts... dark grim and HOT! Where is your air con?????!!!!!! This is the only reason why I have given the 3/5 rating! Other than that nice little hotel.

    « Disappointing restaurant »

Stayed last week in this hotel. On arrival the hotel looked OK and staff were pleasant and efficient with booking me to my room. The room itself was nice, clean and well serviced all week. The down side of the hotel was the fishy smell in the bar area, corridor leading to the bar (I suspect this is why there were several auto air fresheners on the corridor wall) and poor service in the main restaurant. Portions on the food were very hit and miss with one meal having a substantially larger pudding than the main meal!!. Good job though or I would have been hungry! Breakfast was also hit and miss with one day being virtually cold from the buffet style server. Staff serving were young and not very customer focussed. Ordering of meals and service to the table were ok but certain members of staff just seem to walk back and forth for no apparent reason or would stand for lengthy periods admiring each other! There was a bin, broom and shovel left adjacent to a dining table for three days but these had obviously not seen any action by the amount of debris round the edges of the restaurant. One evening I thought we had a celebrity chef Ie:Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen with the amount of verbal abuse that floated across the restaurant for some considerable time. A large party were given the run of the restaurant for my last two evenings taking up,most of the floor area and tables. All other residents were "allowed"to use the tables squeezed into the dark corners and up against the bar. My final point is a quite bizarre breakfast with three members of staff standing to my left and within two feet of my table shouting their conversation to a resident who was obviously a regular resident over the top of my head to a table on the other side of the room to my right. Must have had my Harry Potter invisibility cloak on that day!

    « Good old Smokies »

I stay at Smokies on a regular basis and while it may not be the most glamourous hotel you'll ever stay in, everyone is friendly and willing to help. The Restaurant does a job and a decent breakfast. Fair point some have made about not enough bodies behind the bar during busy periods.

« Albion Church Organ Recital »

Our stay in Ashton Under Lyne was 2 fold One to visit an elderly Aunt, who wanted to go to the Organ recital, and two to give us a break from a horrendous 4 week! new kitchen fitting experience. We will definitely opt to stay at the Smokies Park hotel again when visiting our relative.

    « Comfortable hotel »

A comfy room with good facilities and a lovely meal. The room had good desk and lighting and the lift is helpful for big suitcases. Plenty of parking too. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a business trip.

« One of the better Best Westerns in the North West »

Smokies park hotel certainly looks a lot more 'premium' than other BW's I've stayed in over the North West, with a well presented Reception, and friendly staff ready to assist! I believe the hotel bar has just been newly refurbished, and its extremely inviting to enjoy a cold pint after a long day, and the restaurant just off the bar was pretty damn good! Me and a friend both had starters, mains, a drink each, and it only came to £30! We were definitely impressed by the quality of the food for the cost! The lady manager at the hotel is also extremely helpful, and will stop and have a chat if you're outside in the smoking area, very pleasant and a credit to the hotel :) The only thing I could say from my stay that could do with improving, is the benefits that rewards members receive on check in. As a diamond member (and having earned my status the hard way), I was not offered a recognition award, or the chance of a room upgrade, or any acknowledgement of my reward status. I know I'm probably being picky, but I know other BW's offer this. Saying that. The standard rooms are more than spacious for a business traveller, my only tip would be to try and get a room that doesn't have two single beds pushed together, it can be a tad uncomfortable. Parking Tip: If possible, get to the carpark before 5pm, otherwise you may struggle to get a parking space, as many business people return to the hotel after 5 :)

« Smoking hot bar prices »

Just about managed to park up in the much trumpeted FREE CAR PARK! - I thought all hotel car parks were free? Hotel is more like a business conference facility than a family hotel and is very much run in a business-like fashion. The rooms are ok - nothing special but the tea / coffee making facilities are straight out of 1950's Blackpool landlady land. The food is okay - the breakfast was fine. The Bar Prices are ridiculously expensive - £16.40 odd for a couple of lagers and a G&T - when challenged I was told that "it's because you had a double", which worked out at something like £9.00 - kind of took the shine off the wedding we attended; 100 people all spending about £50 plus on drinks - £5,000 behind the bar che ching! Also I had to leave the room we are in to get the lager because they didn't have it on the bar in the room! Perhaps nobody thought any of the 100 or so people would want any? The advertising of future events was relentless and everywhere, it was hard to escape the hard sell. Probably the last time I ever see this hotel but it has made me think to remember to avoid Best Western Hotels on my travels.

    « My 80th Birthday Party »

I had my 80th birthday party here in the Medlock Suite on Friday 9th September. The room was arranged in a really nice and clean condition with plenty of room for the 15 round tables. I arranged 6 bedrooms for friends who were travelling a distance and they were all very pleased with the room and the good breakfast. The catering for the party was first class in quality and quantity and was enjoyed by everybody, many going back for seconds. Overall an excellent event, made even better by the friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend.

    « Shabby not Chic »

A disappointing o/night stay. The room albeit well sized was drably decorated and furnished with a paticularly dingy carpet which gave an off putting first impression. The ensuite however was clean and bright with good quality fittings. An update to modern standards is needed.

    « Wedding Blessing »

We were married at Easter in Cuba with a few of our family and friends but decided to celebrate at home with a church blessing and celebration. We knew how amazing Smokies was for a wedding because our daughter had hers there so we thought we'd hold our own party there too. Sarah Leather our wedding coordinator was brilliant, she and the team from smokies went above and beyond for us, all our ideas and wishes were catered for, from cocktails on arrival for us and all our guests, to Cuban drummers and dancers. We were in our elements, the food was perfect and those afore mentioned cocktails were on point!! Making our celebration one we shall never forget. Sarah, Sophie, Peppe, along with the buffet guy and cocktail master who's names I can't remember were so attentive throughout our stay, we were totally stress free and able to enjoy every last minute of our celebration. We would 100% advise anyone to hold their wedding here, Smokies are fabulous and you wouldn't be disappointed, I only wish I could do it again but I've already had two weddings, a third would be greedy.... Who knows :)

« Rooms are good, friendly staff, just don't bother to eat!!! »

Why can't you get your menus and food right. 1.5 hours wait for substandard food, to which the duty manager admitted he didnt even know what my starter was supposed to be!!! He freely admitted he didn't know the menu or did the chefs and as for my main course I I received chili on nan bread instead of flat bread and minus trimmings, including coleslaw and fries. Words fail me as to what I experienced tonight!! A complete debacle!!!

My friend had her wedding here on the 28th of August the day was beautiful, the rooms was lovely very clean the staff was more than five star, especially Sophie rothwell who worked so hard making sure everything was perfect and the day was beautiful she went up and beyond and I cannot fault one thing, she was on hand for everything, she is an absolute credit to smokies and made the bride to be day with all the little touches she did, also reception and housekeeping worked so hard to get all the guest checked in, even though they had a wedding the night before the rooms were all ready on time, the wedding meal was piping hot even though they had 75 seated to eat the meal was delicious and once again cannot fault one thing, overall the day was beautiful and would highly recommend. Wedding day was great but unfortunately the wedding meal was terrible. From quess the soup flavour (apparently it was leek and potato) to the rubber chicken and frozen veg and also frozen profiteroles. One glass of wine to which they didn't even leave the bottles on the table and the obviously under trained staff. Sorry smokies you really let the day down all I can say is I'm glad I didn't pay for it.

    « Going downhill »

Stay here a lot on business and stayed again last week for 2 nights. Rooms are good BUT the reservation system is awful. The newly refurbished bar is unusual with Edison bulbs and really nice staff. We have multiple staff staying here and in the last couple of months we have had bookings wrong, wrong dates, no rooms etc. So if you book here I'd advise checking before you stay to ensure there is a room for you, on one occasion I arrived, no room, no space so they had to get me in another(better) accommodation. this week the restaurant was horrible, I ordered the makerel starter and it smelled off, the potato base was at best look warm and cold in the centre, the Diane sauce with my steak was like cream coloured milk with a couple of pieces of mushroom added. My colleagues pork Belly which was served on almost cold spring onion mash, his steak was overdone and served with Diane sauce that looked like gravy and the second attempt was little better if at all better, so much so he left both and went to a local shop to buy a chilled pasta bowl. This hotel needs to buck up as we are now looking at alternative accommodation in the area. I do feel sorry for most of the staff as they are friendly and try but the entire establishment needs new or better management.

    « 3 1/2 stars »

Would be a fairer reflection. Not quite a 4 but not a 3 either. Good, friendly and efficient check in and out. Room was functional, apart from the TV which was poor reception due to some work on the Winter hill transmitter apparently. Fortunately there was a few of us staying so i wasn't in the room much anyway. Room was functional and clean with a large comfortable bed. Big bar area with large TV's. These didn't suffer with reception issues and were handy as the Olympics were on - if you like the Olympics of course! Restaurant was nice - breakfast was good, buffet style but can order some fresh options if desired. Only ate 1 night but again the food was good and reasonably priced. Friendly helpful staff in all areas.

« Living next door to Alice! »

So stayed for Three nights earlier this month with work. The room was on the ground floor overlooking the car park at the front. I wanted to have the window open but the restrictor was broken meaning it would have been possible to climb in the room if I'd left it open. Massive bed which was very comfortable. Didn't turn the TV on although there was a note saying the picture might be poor owing to work on the local Winter Hill TV mast! So all things considered the room was functional and okay. Nothing special but okay. A big plus was the staff, especially the reception staff who were always polite and helpful. Service in the bar was slow, usually one person trying to manage a queue of customers wanting a drink before their dinner. We had private dining in a function room that was partly decorated for a wedding. The first night the food was dreadful. Pie and chips. No healthy options. Bowl of lettuce appeared towards the end of the meal. Soup but no side plates for bread roll. Pudding was a waffle with squirts cream. We complained and obtained a refund. Next night much better. Roast beef dinner or vegetable lasagne, really tasty. So all in all it was okay. Just okay. Didn't go for a culinary experience. Maybe the food in the a la carte restaurant is better?

Well what can I say me and my new wife had our wedding here on the 12th Aug 16. From start to finish I can honestly say it was the best day of my life. The staff are so friendly and helpful and really can't do enough for you everything seems no trouble to them. I would especially like to thank Sarah Leather who organised, planned and helped me and my new wife with every last detail for the big day she was an absolute star and a credit to Smokies and I would definitely recommend her to any of my friends if they are getting married. I would also like to thank Sophie who was the duty manager on the day. She also could not do enough for us from doing master of ceremonies duties to making sure our glasses were always topped up and generally helping the day run so smoothly. She is also a credit to Smokies and along with the Smokies team I really can't thank you all enough. I will be recommending BEST WESTERN Hotel Smokies Park to everyone I know as a fantastic wedding venue and hotel. Thank you all again. Peter Riley

Another work overnight and a meeting close by. Smokies was ideally located for the short journey the following morning. I chose to stay here as it has a small gym, not the best gym in the world but sufficient to get a workout in. Definatly value for money and I would certainly stay here again.

« Disappointed Best Western Rewards Member »

Having stayed before we decided to stay again while renovating our Oldham property. We booked the last room which was a twin Whilst we did not specifically request a ground floor room we were pleased to get one and since it was the last room available how could anything go wrong ? Upon arrival we were told it was not on the ground floor and that no notes to that effect was on the booking [was I a liar or what ?] We accepted the non-ground floor room only because there was a lift [my partner has poorly knees]. Despite telling them immediately that the TV was not working it was still not working after a 2 night stay - a lazy Sunday morning in bed watching the telly was not to be :-( We even had to phone down for tea spoons - no attention to detail. Whilst it was nice to get a discount on the room I would have preferred to receive the Best Western Service to which I have become accustomed over the many years I have been a Rewards Member - Come on Smokies pull your finger out or drop the BW logo.

    « All"s well ,that ends well. »

We choose this hotel, because it was close to family who live nearby in Manchester. When we arrived there was a wedding reception going on and we really thought nothing about it. We went out to see family and on arrival the wedding reception was still going on and loud. The room that we had been allocated was facing the wedding reception and the music was really really loud. The reception desk told us the music would be going on until 1o'clock in the morning. We went down to the reception desk to say that we weren't happy. They did try to place us into another room, but there was another wedding reception going on and you could hear the thumping of the base music and that would be going on until 12:30 in the morning. So we stayed where we were, and told that they would move us the next day. Which they did and our second night was much better. The lesson learn't here was to ask for a room far from the two wedding receptions the next time we stay. Ideally it would be great if the hotel enquirer if the guests were with the wedding parties and allocate the rooms accordingly. The breakfast was excellent, I could not fault it.very enjoyable. Overall we would be happy to stay there again the next time we are up.

« The business for business travellers »

I stayed a couple of weeks back, a hurried get in shower eat bed up out, but this time I am here for a couple of days. I booked an available exec room and it's just great, spotless as is the rest of the hotel and everything I need to work and relax. Breakfast is buffet style, hot plenty of it and choices of cooked, continental, fruits everything's I could want, again served well and with a smile. I ate in the bar for one meal and the food was piping hot and very good, bar staff are attentive and chatty, all the better for the business traveller on their own. The staff in the hotel really do want to be here, their passion and service quality is rare and they have it in spades, a great asset to the hotel. Tonight I chose the restaurant to eat in, and ordered the Rump steak hand cut chips and green beans with a pot of Garlic and Thyme sce. Steaks are a personal thing, everyone's way is different as is rare, medium etc. The chef has got my choice spot on, full of flavour cooked really well, hand cut chips were to die for and the beans just crunchy enough, spot on. I'm here again for two more days next week and I am looking forward to the food already. Great place for the business traveller, I will recommend this place to everyone.

    « Would return »

We stayed here for one night for a concert. I would definitely stay again, it was £13 in a taxi to Manchester centre. I cant comment on the food but the room was nice. Reception staff were really helpful & there is a nice big bar area where we sampled a few drinks :-)

    « Food fine - service terrible »

A dozen of us (ish) stayed here two weeks ago for 4/5 nights. The hotel was fine but the restaurant was very poor. The service was so slow that one night it took 3 hours from being seated to receiving dessert. When it arrived it was cold and the steaks were hit and miss as to how you wanted them cooked. On several occasions the breakfast buffet was stone cold!

    « Wedding »

I got married here, the whole stay from start to finish was great more than great. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food was delicious (all our guests thought so too), and the staff were all lovely and friendly, they couldn't do enough for you.

Lovely and friendly hotel thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Clean and comfy bed and lots of choice at breakfast. Situated next to great Park. Had no trouble when I requested a late checkout. Will most definitely be returning here in the future

Fantastic can't complain with the money or staff or anything apart from some of the bar staff who were rude everybody else were great and same again next year for me. Which will make it 3 years on the trot. The rooms are adequate and the bar and restaurant are more than ample for the price I payed

« Great Place For A City Break »

Reception was very friendly and efficient. Room was a decent size, with good facilities, and clean. Breakfast was very good. Plenty of choice, nicely presented, great coffee and pleasant surroundings. The bar staff were also very friendly, and bar food was good. Overall a pleasant 3 nights were spent in this hotel. The only negative is the Catery next door. It stinks. While we were staying, it was very warm in the evening. We opened the room windows, but quickly had to close them due tot he smell. We went for a walk to Daisy Nook Park nearby, and walked past the Catery. The smell made my wife gag. I would visit again, but wouldn't open the windows.

Went to a concert at the etihad stadium. The reception ordered us a saloon car style taxi £12 in to Manchester centre bars near to arndale shopping centre. A nice hotel easy to get to. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment.

    « Lovely staff and stay ! »

On arrival we were greeted by happy friendly staff who gave us info such as where restaurant and bar were and traffic light system at breakfast. Our room was large bright and clean, free soap and bath toiletries ( always a bonus) and tissues. We went to bar one and Sophie behind the bar was extremely lovely and helpful chatting to us which made us feel extra comfortable, we enjoyed a lovely meal at reasonable price. We went to the Coldplay concert at the etihad stadium, the hotel arranged a taxi for our trip that was reasonably priced £10 on our return we had a comfortable night sleep, although the room was very Walm so I had to open the window as we couldn't see a thermostat on the radiator but that wasn't a problem really. The next morning we were up at 7.45 to go for breakfast for 8 am opening when we got there we were alone with several members of staff Sophie and Connor who made us feel very welcome again there were several others but I'm not sure of there names but they were all helpful, Connor made us laugh ! If we travel to Oldham again we will defiantly return, thank you for a lovely stay team.

The hotel staff are so friendly and eager to make sure we are looked after. Our bedroom was well furnished with a large comfortable bed. It was so quiet even though there were weddings on over the weekend. We were not disturbed at all. The food was excellent with a good variety to choose from.

    « GOOD HOTEL »

We overnighted at this hotel as a means of conveniently meeting friends. The accommodation was comfortable with a reasonably spacious bathroom and we had a pleasant night chatting in the bar. The staff were helpful and friendly and we will probably return.

« The very best, Best Western »

I have been coming here for years and I also stay in many hotels around the country for work, most of them Best western. Of all of them Smokies is my favourite! The rooms are clean and comfortable especially the executive ones which are well priced. The crowning glory is the restaurant [email protected] I always have the sirloin steak. I ask for it medium rare and guess what it comes medium rare! Most chefs don't seem to know how to cook steaks and often over cook them so they go dry and like shoe leather! Smokies Chef cooks them to perfection and very succulent. The only issue I have is that you get the choice of 2 sides included. When you order "Roast Tomatoes & Mushrooms" (note Plural) you get one mushroom and half a tomato. If you order "Onion rings" you get a bowl of 10! I have never been able to work this out. If you order them as extra sides (more than the 2 included) the one mushroom and half tomato costs £2.50! Come on Smokies thats really not fair! The other problem is they used to do Lamb Koftas as a starter - they vanished off the menu some time ago, they were the best starter! I forgive all this so long as the steaks stay the same!! All the staff are lovely, very friendly.

« Go there twice a year every year »

Very smart hotel the staff are very helpful. Breakfast s OK if you get up early enough. Do not leave it to the last minute and expect to get a super breakfast, it is a buffet. The rooms are very comfortable and you can have use of the sauna and steam room. Best to book this as you check in so the staff can get them up and running for when you are ready. Overall well worth the visit and a reasonable price. I have stayed at this hotel mainly on weekends and occasionally in the week. Never had any problems.

« Dont bother at the moment »

We went for a drink at the Best Western, got to the bar: no signs and walked straight into a building site, no one said anything to us, not even the cleaner who was stood starring at us, so we walked up the corridor and found a member of staff whom then took us into what looked like someone s conference to be served drinks, not very professional at all. Would of been nice if there were signs around to explain that a refurb was happening or even a member of staff to ask if we were ok. But nothing.

    « Comfortable »

Stayed at this hotel for one night during a visit to the area. I found the staff very pleasent and the rooms were up to standard and a massive comfy bed. Bearing in mind there was two functions on the go there was no noise or rowdiness as you can come to expect. The only issue was in the residents bar you had guests spelling out from the functions into the area, but I imagine Sunday to Thursday this isn't an issue. Breakfast was nice but the room could probably do with a lick of paint. I would stay at this hotel again.

« Weekend stay for a course at another venue. »

I had a very comfortable stay. there was a wedding on but I was not disturbed by noise. The breakfast was tasty and cheerfully served. The sausages were very good. The wifi is free and fast. the bed was big and comfortable, the shower hot, the room clean and although "standard"; bed, TV, chair, desk etc was very acceptable. Just down the road is Bardsley canal which was perfect for a run. Hotel staff welcoming and helpful.

    « Visit to family »

Our son lives in Ashton and we spent a weekend at Smokies Park whilst visiting. On arrival we were told there was a wedding therefore we would be put on the other side of the hotel as it would be quieter. Lovely big room, very clean. The restaurant served good food and Peppe Gambolini, duty manager, was excellent. Very attentive, caring and had a lovely sense of humour. A good place to stay and very reasonably priced.

    « Nice stay »

I had emailed the hotel to ask for a quiet room as I'm not a very good sleeper. They booked me into room 115 which was a family room. Very peaceful until around midnight when a dog started barking outside somewhere every half an hour. The room decor wasn't in bad condition and the bathroom seemed very new, my only problem with it was the toilet. I'm average height and my feet didn't touch the ground when sat on it and if you have kids be very careful with the bath water temperature, I could have filled a cup and put a teabag in it. SCOLDING. I had my meal in the Cromford bar, decent pint and very nice meal.

    « Highly recommended »

We held our company annual awards here on Friday the 22nd April, we booked the Crompton Suite, the staff are AMAZING and extremely helpful, Andrea is a fantastic organiser and certainly went the extra mile and so did Pepe and the all of the staff - great team, The whole event from beginning to end was fabulous, the majority of the people attending the event stayed over, all of the rooms including triple and twin rooms were excellent and the sit down meal and buffet in the evening was perfect. We had the DJ and Casino package and what a great night was had by all, extremely good value and the friendly family feel to the whole event was exceptional. Certainly be returning

    « Smokies »

The overall impression of the hotel was very good, there were a couple of items that had to be addressed because they were not working correctly, however all in all it was good for the price we paid. Food was excellent, albeit the arrival night meal was not our first choice because some items were not available, but the meal was good

    « Nice hotel »

This hotel is very clean, reception staff very friendly and the rooms are very comfortable. Hairdryer, iron and ironing board in rooms as well as tea making facilities and biscuits. Nice big beds and plenty spare pillows. Only watch out is that if you take alcohol into your room then they charge you corkage. Would recommend a stay though

« Hotel for a match at the Etihad stadium »

We booked this hotel for one night to watch a rugby World Cup match. The drive from the hotel to the stadium took about 20 minutes and the hotel was easy to find. There was a large free car park. My husband and I stayed in an executive double and our children were in a standard double. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The executive room had a desk and chair which the standard didn't have and was slightly larger than the standard as would be expected but the standard was still a good size. Our bathroom had a good shower and the room was quiet. The executive rooms are on a higher floor at the back of the hotel which overlooked an industrial looking site. There was no noise from this but it was a Saturday. There was a wedding on and the children could hear it from their room. In the morning when we went down to see the children there were clothes, male & female, strewn all along the corridor. My husband used the running machine in the gym in the morning. The reception staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't have breakfast there as it seemed expensive and so went for breakfast in Manchester centre instead. I would go back if we visited the Etihad again but wouldn't bother with the executive as the difference between the two didn't seem worth the difference in money.

    « Great hotel »

I booked a room at the hotel as a treat to myself whilst attending Soul Boutique All-Dayer. I rang in advance to enquirer about booking a double room on single occupancy & was told that this was not a problem. I had a slight problem trying to program the hotel into my sat-nav (the postcode for the hotel is for Ashton Road which apparently numbers from 1 - 1043 & the hotel doesn't actually have a number on Ashton Road! However I resolved this by programming my sat-nav for the junction of Ashton Road & Bardsley Vale Avenue which took me straight to the hotel ??) The hotel has ample car-parking around the hotel site with an over-spill car park to the side for larger events. The reception area is clean, modern & welcoming as were the reception staff on duty. I checked in & was directed to my room on the second floor & was pleasantly surprised to find that my "standard double room" was extremely spacious & bright & contained a super-King size bed (can be split into two singles) & a double bed settee. There was also a large double wardrobe, large dressing table with drawer & cupboard storage, large wall mounted tv & bedside storage either side of the bed. The room also had tea/coffee making facilities & ironing board, iron, hairdryer etc. The bathroom was bright & clean with a full size bath & overhead shower, heated towel rail with a good supply of clean towels & complimentary toiletries. The hotel itself is bright, clean & comfortable & all the staff were extremely friendly & welcoming. The soul event was held in the Medlock Suite which is a beautiful room. Despite staying at the hotel during a busy musical event I didn't hear any noise from the function suite nor from any of the other residents rooms within the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel for its accommodation, facilities & staff.

    « Family Reunion »

My family,13 of us, were staying here for the weekend. I was a solo visitor and my expectations of having a nice room were low,as I had heard that solo meant not nice. I was pleasantly surprised,as I was given a lovely room which was the same as my family had. The appeared to have been refurbished recently and were bright and airy and well epuipped with everything one should need. There was wifi which was very good. We were all given rooms on the same floor, which was helpful. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The absolute best thing about this hotel is Diane who works tirelessly behind the bar ensuring guests are served promptly but with a human touch. She's brilliant and a real gem and an excellent ambassador for the hotel. Hotel itself is ok and fine for a short stay whether for business or pleasure.

we booked again at smokies for closeness , and overall the staff are fantastic, they will try and try for u at all times, cant fault the staff at all, only thing was we never see a senior/manager to resolve a problem, as we had to move 2 times on our stay to find a room with hot water, but hey we found one, the pillows on this occasion were poor, but last time they were fantastic ! ..also painting/gloss work was going on, and I thought we could of been put in a different wing, but no apologies' from management, or a complimentary drink!!..we did have snow also, and the effort was very slow for guests, this should have been salted quick, health and safety!!.. food in restaurant very good, and staff excellent too..also its nice for staff to tell u if there are any big events at the hotel.. again management!!

« Cold Room cold shower, no reservation in system! »

I have stay away about 3 nights a week and have stayed in many hotels in the UK. I arrived late to this hotel and first this hotel that did not have my booking. This is the first time this has ever happened with LateRooms, I do not blame LateRooms this will be Best Western's issue. The night manger on duty was very helpful and was able to assist me. I then checked into the room it was freezing, so I turned on the radiator and got into bed hoping it would warm up. When I woke up in the morning the radiator was on but the temp. was very low and made the room very cold, annoying but no issue I thought I would have a warm shower. NO Warm water at all . So I could not have a shave or shower. The water was slightly warm so this hotel obviously has turned down the temp on the thermostat. Spoke to reception and they acted surprised which is rubbish there is other comments here stating the same issue. If you want to stay in a cold room with no hot water stay in this hotel.

« Good Food, Decent Bed, What more do you want »

Stayed a couple of weeks for a training course. Oldham is a little off the beaten track, not really family or holiday territory. Hotel is typical business establishment and handy for Manchester. Room was good sized, excellent bed, free wifi & TV, Tea/ Coffee etc. Food was excellent, I usually ate in the bar. Desk staff & house staff were friendly, The girl who booked me in could put a smile on a traffic wardens' face..... Downside, well its Oldham, not a honeymoon destination. Large screen TV in bar shows 24 hr football, which seems to be a local affliction. Happy to stay again, if only they could move it south....

    « Great service! »

We chose to stay at this hotel as we were volunteering at an event early on the Sunday morning at the Etihad stadium. Manchester city centre hotels were a ridiculous price for the night as there was a couple of large events on. Smokies was very reasonable on price and easy to get to. Service was second to none from the moment we walked through the door till the morning we left. Our room was very clean and decor was good. Obviously from the 'wet paint' signs in the corridor that there is some 'sprucing' going on which is a good sign and shows that the owners try to keep the place ship shape. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night as, due to a function, we couldn't find space at the bar. Although the menu is limited, the prices aren't bad and portions were plentiful. Again great service with a smile. So all in all if you're looking for a hotel that doesn't break the bank in the Manchester/Oldham area this is a great choice.

« Alternative option when no hotels available in Manchester »

We traveled to Manchester recently. There were no affordable hotels left in the city due to a big sports event, so we had to look further away from Manchester. The Smokies Park hotel came up, and we gave it a go. It's about 7 miles from the centre of Manchester. Friendly staff at the reception. Very quiet rooms.Bathroom looked a bit dated, but clean. Good breakfast selection. Free WiFi. Easy parking. Enjoyed a chat with one of the managers, Peppe, while having drinks at the hotel bar.

« Excellent, although some problems with breakfast »

Not too many good hotels in this area and this one was very good, A very spacious well appointed room. A few oddities - I have never seen a lavatory bowl so high. Nor have I seen a hotel threatening in its conditions to confiscate any alcohol found in rooms. The breakfast room was the main restaurant and attractive. Only had breakfast on a Sunday (28/2) morning, but they did not open until 8 and apart from coffee (which was excellent) and some very basic cereals and canned fruit, there wasn't much available intitially. Evan half an hour after opening only half of the advertised "full English" items were on the hotplate. I ended up eating them before my porridge which did not arrive for 20 minutes after ordering it. None of the fruit was fresh, all was canned/preserved - I think we could expect a bit more for these prices. But what we had of the Full English was fine.

« Lovley Hotel , Fab Meal , nice big rooms - Location not too keen on. »

We stayed here while I was viewing a car. The hotel is lovely , clean ,friendly staff , large fluffy towels, spacious rooms and a fantastic meal in the restaurant which was a good price too.We had 2 courses each with a bottle of wine for £60.00. The only down side was the location as there are not many nice pubs or restaurants around the hotel and I was none too keen on the area. Up the road was a bit of a no go area however it is not far to the town centre by car and the IKEA there is fab. Someone had turned of the heating off in our room and i couldn't find the dial but reception were up in 2 mins to sort it out with no problem.Bar area really nice and comfortable. Hosts- 8/10 Breakfast- didn't have Facilities 9/10 Wifi not too bad Cleanliness - 9/10 Stay again- No but only because of the area, The hotel lovely.

« in oldham on business »

stayed at the Best Western Smokies Park 22/02/2016 for five days, on arrival the room was cold, the bathroom was tatty and the fixtures were tired and in poor repair and the shower was barely adequate, however the bed was clean and comfortable. The bar area was smelly I put this down to a dirty and ripped carpet, the carpet in the corridor to the restaurant is very dirty. The restaurant is also looking tired and the tiles around the bar are dirty and broken. I must say however the food was excellent top marks to the chef. Some staff were rude and miserable looking, a bit like the venue I say. I don't advise staying there I am afraid.

« Great place to stay. Nice setting. Comfy room »

This is a nice place to stay. Food was great - the pork to die for and the service from staff super excellent and friendly in the dining room. Rooms were comfy and there is a nice fountain thing to sit by if you smoke - you dont feel such a social pariah when you are sitting by a fountain :)

    3
    « Noisy! »

Stayed for a family wedding the room was fine but far to noisy at night time for you to get any sleep as they run more then one wedding at a time on a weekend with the late night club/ bar going all night a lot off drunken arguments in the hallways! Apart from the noise as a wedding venue it was lovely.

I made a last minute trip to Oldham to visit in-laws and the room I got was fantastic value for money. Really friendly staff go a long way and I can't fault them. « Best venue for a party with a fabulous team of employers. Great food! »

I had my 40th birthday party here on Saturday 30th January 2016. I booked it back in September and during this time I was in contact with Andrea the events co-ordinator and all I can say is a huge thank to her. Thank you also for the discounted rates on the hotel rooms for my guests...amazing value. Rooms are very basic but you don't need anything more as we were only getting ready in them and sleeping eventually after an amazing party. On the day the staff couldn't be more helpful moving tables and making sure everything ran smoothly. I didn't even see the buffet or have any due to being so busy but my 240 guests says the food was excellent and every single bit got eaten! Couldn't fault this venue at all. Huge thank you to all the team at Smokies for making my 40th the best birthday ever. My room was decorated by the company Balloons and More in Oldham. Loved my dance floor and back drop worth the spend!

« Lovely room, nice service »

We stayed in one of the executive rooms, which was actually a free upgrade when we got there which were quite happy about! The girl on the front desk was very welcoming and friendly which was great and so important when you have just arrived. Check in was very efficient and just a couple of flights of stairs up to our room. The room itself was lovely, very large with a huge bed (which was amazingly comfortable and I didn't want to get up the next day!), a fully equipped bathroom and a HD tv on the wall. The large windows were nice and although our room overlooked some kind of factory or offices next door, you could still see across into Manchester which was nice at night. Might seem petty, but the pillows were perfect for me as I am asthmatic and allergic to any feather pillows. They were also reasonably firm, which I prefer. I can't comment on the restaurant or food quality as we didn't go there. All in all, we enjoyed our short stay and would readily visit again.

« Pick one of the executive rooms »

Last time I had the constellation room, it is just about a suite, well worth the extra cost. Good bathroom, sitting room and lovely bedroom. Dinner was dissapointing after a 30 minute wait and whilst the beef was tasty it, and the accompaniments were only just warm.

    « No Internet »

Lovely hotel lovely staff, girl on front desk was an absolute gem. But unfortunately due to matters out of their control NO INTERNET. its 2016 not 1986, for a huge hotel chain that professes to being a 4* fails to provide Internet this is very very poor. One member of staff said it usually happens and have been know due to not paying their bills. Another member of staff told me this was a company they employ decided to cease their Internet connection.. If you're a business traveller avoid this place by the sounds of it if you need a good stable Internet connection to conduct your business affairs away from home and the office you won't be able to do it here.

    « Good Hotel »

This hotel is on the edge of Oldham, with reasonable access to the Motorway and Manchester. Check in was conventional , however I was advised that the internet was down, which was a pain as I had some work to do, my phone 'EE' was on the edge of reception as usual, so struggled to give me any data access. Back to the hotel the room was on the ground floor, and of a good size, with a full sized and well finished bathroom. Breakfast was a Hot and Cold buffet, which had a good range and was kept replenished by friendly and efficient staff.

    « Great Hotel »

Great Hotel and I would certainly recommend a stay here if you are visiting Manchester. On arrival staff were polite and friendly, the hotel was clean and inviting. Bar and restaurant were welcoming and the food good value for money. The rooms are clean, well maintained and as advertised. A very enjoyable stay and I look forward to my next visit.

    « A 40th Birthday party nearby »

Booked a room for a one night stopover whilst attending a local 40th Birthday party. It has 24 hour reception with very pleasant and helpful staff, it also has free wi-fi throughout. The hotel is fairly dated in its looks, but the room was very clean, tidy and comfortable with all the normal amenities. The hotel bar is simple in design but quiet the service was quick and the food menu was simple but good. We didn't have breakfast mainly because the £12 price asked was £3 more than the advertised £9. Overall no complaints and would stay again.

    « Very plesant stay »

This was my first time at this hotel. the standard of the rooms was very good. the bar staff were attentive, pleasant and helpful. The receptionist was very kind and helpful too and I was as a diamond member offered a room up grade, I did not eat in the restaurant because I was meeting up to eat else where so I can't comment on that. I also did not have breakfast. But the stay was pleasant and would not hesitate in recommending the hotel or its staff.

« Good value comfortable hotel »

Spent one night here and not only was the room well appointed with a very comfortable bed but even though the hotel was pretty full it was amazingly quiet. I had a bar meal rather than use the Restuarant (I hate looking like Billy no mates when you are travelling on your own) and not only was the food really good it was also reasonably priced. If I am ever in Oldham I will definitely use this hotel again.

    « Good Value Hotel »

Had a one night stay over for a charity concert in Mossley some 5 miles away. From check in, through taxi booking, to check out nothing was too much trouble for the helpful and friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was good. The only downsides are that the bathroom was tired and the bar meals left a lot to be desired.

    « Christmas Don't »

This place is a utter dump. Went there for our works Christmas party. The food was literally pig swill. The turkey was like rubber. The veg was so over cooked What a rip off!I I will never EVER go here again. Oh and the bar prices? £3.50 for a pint of Coke?!

    « Very upset »

I booked a room for three nights at Christmas to enable me to spend time with my son and my grandchildren. Being disabled I asked for a room with a wet room when I booked. The man that showed me to my room was very polite and friendly ,even though he kept calling me 'sweetheart' every 10 seconds! When I looked around the large room it was quite dirty especially the windows. There were cobwebs everywhere as well. The ironing board is kept beside the wardrobe and I think that the cleaner needs to remove it when he/she hoovers the stained carpet as there were tissues and a spider in the corner . After I was promised that the room had a wet room ,it did not. The shower looked old and grubby , the paint was peeling off of the ceiling and the tiles were falling off of the walls and the tiles on the floor were not slip proof. The bathroom was not meant for a disabled person at all. To have to get in the shower you would have to manage a 12 inch slope! Hopeless. I didnt have any sleep here as the room was so cold and the bathroom even colder. The lid on the kettle did not close properly , the list goes on. I checked myself out of room 209 early the next day after having paid for one nights stay . I dont think I should have been charged for this night, its a joke.

« Decent venue, dubious food »

I went here for a staff Christmas party recently - the room was pretty big (not that you'd know it with how closely packed-in the tables were - though this isn't really the fault of the hotel) and fairly well-decorated (though it looked more like a wedding reception than a Christmas Party), but the food was very disappointing. I'm sure that there's a choice of what food is provided when such events are booked, and when providing a free party for potentially a few hundred people, organisations are going to want to spend a fortune. However, even considering this, the food was pretty disappointing. I was in the first 10-15 people served, but already the hot food wasn't particularly hot and someone else on my table who sat down a minute or so after me found her food was already cold. A few people enquired of the staff serving the hot food as to what some of the cold buffet items were, but the best they could offer were "I think those are chicken drumsticks". Both the two lads serving the hot food and the various staff going round collecting glasses and clearing up looked thoroughly miserable and most didn't even speak before collecting empty glasses or plates. Still, this is a hotel that hosts events - not a fancy restaurant, so perhaps I was expecting too much & besides, they'd have had to shout to be heard over the DJ who was painfully loud. The first person I saw was the guy behind the bar in another room (someone was stood in front of the sign saying where our party was, so I turned left instead of right as the door was open). Credit to him, he was very pleasant and smartly presented, so good first impressions there. The place was certainly clean & looked like it was well-looked after. I didn't stay over myself, but I heard from others that the rooms were clean & the beds comfortable, and that the staff they spoke to were pleasant. All-in-all, there's nothing particularly bad about the place (other than the food and some of the staff looking like they sooner be "anywhere but here"), but there was nothing outstanding about it either. If I was looking to host an event on a budget, I would consider returning, but I'd certainly explore other options first.

I hit this for an overnight for a stay in Manchester. I got upgraded to a double room which was very nice indeed. Lovely clean hotel, staff very polite and professional. Good location and very quiet. Spacious bathroom and great shower.

    « Mad hatters xmas »

Don't get me wrong the hotel is lovely looking but in would not go again. We were cramped in like sardines sharing tabels with other parties, dinner service was quick which is always good but the food was below par. I found something hard in my soup but hay i wont let that ruin it, its tasty soup. Then i had the salmon. Looked devine untill i had to start picking bones out of it.. So i didnt finish it as that was effort. Now for dessert "a gorgeous EAT ME sweet box filled mad hatters desert and a DRINK ME" i got what looked like baught in cosco birthday cake thrown infront of me and a pounland test tube shot. I can safely say i was robbed of a sweet box there... The entertainment felt like i was in the kids club at butlins so i didn't really enjoy it. And to top it off most.. Not all.. Most of the staff was rude, barged past you and were not welcoming. I hate bad reviews but it had to be done.

    « Great Christmas party! »

Went to the 'Alice in Winterland' party night with friends and family and had a great time. the food was tasty and hot, the wine reasonably priced and the cocktails good. the DJ was excellent and had a full dance floor constantly.

    « Staff Christmas party »

This is the fourth time we attended Smokies Christmas party, this year being the Mad Hatter's party. The food was hot and atmosphere was vey good especially this year's DJ. In my opinion the food value is not as good as in previous years as now the sweet is served in a plastic container rather then a plate(more like a fast food diner) and no coffee and mince pies. All in all as a group we had fun.

    « Dump »

All I can say is what a dump - Firstly the bedroom was dirty the floor was sticky and smelly. The runner in the bedroom had dodgy stains from a previous occupant who definitely had a good time. The bar food is well priced if you you ever get your order I waited nearly 80 minutes for an order when it arrived it was uncooked. All in all the prices claims quality but certain elements let it down. Best bit is the breakfast. Morning Chef knows how to make a breakfast

    « Mad Hatter's Christmas Party »

Attended the Mad Hatter's Christmas Party night on Saturday November 29th. This is the third year running and all have been excellent. Food was fantastic and very hot which is always nice when there are so many people to serve. We were a small party of 7 and everyone had a very enjoyable evening. My husband and I stayed overnight and as usual were not disappointed. The room was clean and very comfortable and the staff all very polite and friendly. Breakfast was very nice. Alreading planning for Christmas Party 2016!

« Vomity towel and suspect sheets »

Upon arrival at smokies i entered into a modern foyer to be handed my key card to the emporer suite, i was expected great things and i was disappointed. Just outside the room i was greeted by a a towel which was covered in what i can only suspect to be vomit. I imagined this towel would be taken soon but little did i know this was part of the furniture a real addition to the character of this hotel. Once in the in the room there were many suspect stains on the sheets showing what a great time people had in this establishment. Which in fact truely mirrors the other guests staying on this particular day. A wedding reception greeted us in what i can only decribe it as "slags on tour" which to be honest only enhanced the allure of the whole experience. All in all this smutty gem on the manchester left wanting more scuzzy yet amazing hotel i can't to book my wedding here

« Not great but OK for cheap hotel »

Staff were very friendly but booking in & bar service for our visit was very slow, they seemed overwhelmed by a large party & stopped taking food orders when we arrived. The rooms are larger than some and everything was clean but the walls are thin so you hear a lot of noise from other rooms. It's a £20 taxi fare into Oldham Centre.

« Poor breakfast undermines anything good about this place »

I spent a night here on business. It's comfortable enough although the decor and furnishings are tired. The bar is comfortable enough although there's a lot of massive tables and empty spaces. Weirdly there were clearly far, far more cars in the car park than there were guests - why do you allow the use of your car park in this way and the consequent impact it has on paying guests? It was the breakfast which really lets this place down. I went down at about 0830 but the hot items had obviously been on the counter since the start of breakfast well over an hour earlier. The bacon was dry, stiff and stuck together. The sausages were clearly pretty poor quality to begin with and the 90 minutes in the open air had sealed their fate. To make matters worse, the brown sauce was a cheap substitute rather than HP (unforgivable). Unlikely to be visiting again.

The hotel was very nice with good rooms and very comfortable beds. Everywhere was very clean and well maintained. The staff very exceptionally helpful and very friendly. If there was one downfall, it was the restaurant where our evening meal was very disappointing .

    « A great weekend in Manchester . . . »

It is really worth looking out for events in Manchester to find a reason to visit this gem of a hotel. I spotted the David Beckham UNICEF event at Old Trafford and booked for a group of us to go with a stop over at this hotel for the night. I have stayed here before and loved it and so knew that this was going to be great. I did feel a little sad when my usual room on the Executive floor was not available (well worth the extra spend as lovely spacious rooms). However, when I got there the staff had done me a wonderful service and booked the "Emperor Room". I mention this room by name because if it is available when you go then I would really recommend it. It is on the quiet Executive floor and is in a corridor of only 2 rooms and so no one is passing. I think that the other room might have been called the Empress? The room was lovely and spacious with a dressing area, lounge area and sleeping area. The bathroom is lovely too and the bed sooo comfy. The rest of my party stayed in the standard rooms and they are great too. Their bathroom was very similar to mine. The room was just far smaller and located on the standard hotel corridors. They had a lift up to their rooms with a lovely clean bedroom and large TV with a comfy leather settee and so if you can't stretch to the executive floor or if the executive floor is booked it is still very much worth staying here. We had an exciting time at the match and returned to the hotel for dinner. There was a great menu where all of the party apart from one could not resist the "build your own burger". A very posh burger where you choose all of the components from whether you had a beef burger, chicken or vegetarian with 2 from a huge choice of toppings such as cheese, mushrooms etc. and then 2 sides from a large list of sides, healthy and not quite so healthy but very tasty. Our other member of the party had a smoked salmon salad which she said was delicious. We all had a buffet breakfast in the restaurant the next morning with everything that you could want on the buffet or on a separate menu if you wanted something special like smoked salmon Eggs Benedict. The staff are all really friendly and welcoming.

We stayed here for one nights stay during our trip to Manchester to the coronation street tour and I must say for the price we paid we were more than happy with our decision a really comfortable nights sleep with a lovely room with all the amenities we needed great staff very friendly and helpful well situated hotel to use as a base for visiting all surrounding attractions we will definitely be returning when we visit Manchester again thank you for our pleasant stay

    « Dont stay »

Inadequate heating in the bedrooms. Lamps not working in the rooms and bathrooms. Poor showers and arrogant bar staff. Different rules on different nights for ordering food at the bars, one night you need ID next night you dont and luke warm food for breakfast. I travel all round the UK staying in hotels and will not stay here again. This is not value for money!!!

« very good value for money »

A clean welcoming room with all facilities and a very happy efficient staff in all areas. We only stayed overnight but were made to feel wanted at all times. the hotel is easily reached and could be utilised for a visit to Manchester where prices would probably be much higher. Aimee,Amy and Sophie in the restaurant were especially welcoming as was the barman on duty whose name we do not recall.

    « It smelled a bit funny! »

Stayed here for a weekend to attend a party. The room decor was erm well not very nice, the bathroom was well worn and the shower was poor. I know this is much more a budget hotel, but I still paid £87 per night. It just felt very weathered and old! Added to this, we had dinner, approx 14 of us, and some had finished before some others had even been served. The worst thing was the smell in our room, it smelled like drains, which with a hangover wasn't too much fun!

    « Good staff »

The hotel is absolutely fine, clean, not too much noise etc... However it's the staff who make this hotel. From the chap on reception to the staff in the bar & restaurant all were very friendly and attentive. I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel!

1.Room and bathroom clean and functional 2. Restaurant and breakfast very good. 3. Plan to use the hotel regularly in future for business trips.

    « Won't go for carvery again »

A few week ago we called in smokies just eat for a sunday carvery, one of our "can't be bothered to cook days" it was full and the lady on the desk said you have to book now!! Sort of spoils the spontaneity if that's the case, but because it was full we assumed it was good, so we booked the following week, we arrived at 4pm and after a few minutes wait a lady appeared and sort of waved us vaguely to a table that wasn't set for a meal. There was only a couple of other tables occupied, before we could sit down another lady appeared and proceeded to sweep under and around the table! There wasn't anyone serving at the bar and the first lady had disappeared! We felt like we'd just walked into a party that was over! Very weird and uncomfortable! So we left. If smokies are going to do a successful carvery, they need to train their staff better!!!!

We are currently staying at the hotel and we couldn't have been made more welcome, the staff are fantastic especially Aimee-Jo Cole who has made our stay even more special , her attention to detail is second to non she is an absolute credit to the hotel , the room is clean and well equipped and the food is outstanding, I cannot find a single gripe with this hotel.

Warm welcome by a very efficient and friendly receptionist, room excellent, very large and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable, lots of pillows, and the room had a soft leather sofa and a large flat screen TV. After arriving at 8.30 after a long day we enjoyed a well cooked well presented meal, served by friendly efficient waiting staff. I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel and room are all really nice. Breakfast next day was of good quality and the staff were very helpful. NEVER stay in room 123 it is right next to the bar OK if you like to stay up till the early hours of course. But by nearly 2pm we had had enough.

    « Smokies - OK »

Stayed for two nights - Friday and Saturday. Had room on top floor facing back which was quiet though a couple of times during the night the fire door was heard to bang but soon got back to sleep. Staff very friendly, efficient and informative re transport. 409 bus stops just outside hotel on both sides of the road therefore good links to Ashton and the Metrolink to Manchester. Room clean and tidy though some minor stains of carpet from old spillages remained which could have been removed with a quick carpet clean, Breakfast options were excellent and we were well looked after by head waiter and staff. Restaurant clean and tidy. Friday night there was a wedding taking place but no issues, on Saturday night it was just a typical Saturday night in the bar. A bit noisy with one group but again no issues and this small group also had rooms near the bar on the ground floor.

    « Well!! »

It is 7am just had my breakfast still no one at reception or answering the reception phone. From midnight till 4.30 am the room next to me has been used by 3people that I can only assume are hotel staff. Shouting, TV on full volume, doors slamming. I hope it doesn't continue tonight.

    « Fits the bill »

Unlike my previous visit to the north east when ended up in the M62 services travel lodge my company booked me in here. First impressions were...where is it!!! as I drove straight past missing the sign as it was just out of my sight line in the leaves of the trees. But once found a speedy check to my room on the 2nd floor overlooking the rear carpark. A good size room with king size double, sofa dressing table and wardrobe. Bathroom clean and practical. For one night I could ask for more. Some traffic noise, and you do hear the occasional guess return later at night, but my only gripe was the bed. For me it wasn't firm enough and I didn't have the greatest of sleeps, just a personal preference. I didn't use the hotel restaurant but found plenty of eateries 10 minutes down the road at the Ashton Moss leisure park.

    « Lovely Hotel :) »

My partner and I stayed here due to being at a wedding do elsewhere in the area and this was the most reasonably priced hotels. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly front of house staff member who promptly took all our details and asked if we wanted one or two keys, we asked for two which was just as well because the electric was conrolled by the key card meaning we could leave it on whilst we were out and could still get back into our room, The room itself was very spacious and very clean, however the radiator although it was not on made noises all through the night, the shower head needs to be replaced as when we turned it on even with the shower curtain closed water was leaking over the side of the bath (room 204), other than that the bathroom was very clean. The windows I do not think are double glazed as when we woke up the next morning it was full of condensation without the radiator being on and us being far away from the window in the first place. As we were at the end of the corridoor there was not a lot of noise from other guests which was good. We were also told that the wifi was down and that a BT engineer was coming out to sort it, however this did not occur as neither of us could get a connection. If we were to be in the area again we would consider staying here again. However be aware that if you are following a satnav it says you have reached your destination on the left the hotel was actually on the right, its a good job we saw the large sign behind the trees else we might have driven past!

« Very clean and modern hotel »

I visited this hotel for one night on a business trip. The room was extremely clean and modern and staff very polite and helpful. Me and my colleagues had a few issues at the bar with the card machine, which ended up with the staff chasing us for payments that had not gone through despite spending a good 15 mins resolving this at the hotel. The bar woman was not very helpful... Other than this our stay was very pleasant.

    « Not the best »

Stayed here in September for one night. Room was a good size and all staff were very friendly......urm that's it for the positives! Bathroom was vile, my bath was full of sand! There was mildew throughout the entire shower area and the bathroom just hadn't been cleaned properly with someone elses hair around the bath. Ew ew ew. Sleep quality was awful, I wouldn't say I had particularly noisy neighbours but I could hear EVERYTHING that was going on in the adjoining rooms, the walls must be made of paper. Bar area resembled something along the lines of a sports bar and workingmens club combined. Football on large TV etc, not somewhere you would want to spend a huge amount of time if on a business trip or with family actually. Restaurant was a bit strange too, it was like they've tried really hard to create a quality atmosphere but it just hasn't worked. It didn't feel cosy, didn't feel classy just uncomfortable, whatever ambiance it was trying to create it failed. Menu was limited and overpriced, food took ages to arrive (which was odd considering there were only three other tables occupied) and was ok when it did. Breakfast was ok too, I must admit I do prefer ordering from a menu but the buffet was ok and is helpful if you are in a rush and haven't got time to wait to be served. The whole stay for me was wrecked by a vile bathroom and lack of sleep due to noise. I'm visiting the area again next week and have not booked this hotel.

The rooms are ok, but the walls are very thin and you can even hear someone having a shower. The cleaners are very poor, the bath etc where not cleaned properly and bins not emptied.
