Best Western Oglesby Inn

I was stranded due to car trouble. Called my husband and he saw that this Best Western was less than a mile away. My car was able to go that far. When I got there, my husband had called ahead and they were all ready for me. Since it was a Saturday evening, I ended up having to stay there till Monday. What was great is that the lady at the front desk, Kathe McDonald, was so helpful. She gave me info about reputable car repair places and towing places in town. That really relieved my stress, because this is a small town and I was completely unfamiliar with the local businesses. Besides that, the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.

Rooms are dated, but clean and had no odors. The breakfast was great and fully stocked even though we slept in. A little nerve racking staying so close to Chicago on a Saturday, but all was well! Lots of people staying here, but no more noisy than any others.

Clean, reasonable prices, free hot breakfast. Glad we ignored the couple subpar reviews. This is a nice, affordable hotel. Easy to access, close to Starved Rock State Park. Newer Mexican restaurant next door (Blue Margarita) which we highly recommend. Thank you Best Western!! Great stay.

This was our 3rd stay at Best Western during a two week road trip and was the worst of them. Maybe it's the rural area and there are not many choices but based on the other reviews, I had higher expectations. Conveniently located off the highway and next to what looks like a brand-new Mexican restaurant called Blue Margarita (we didn't try it but there were a lot of cars there). I thought I read that the hotel was recently renovated but I didn't see evidence of that. The room was run down, wallpaper peeling from the walls, dirty looking bathroom tiling, dirty hallway carpeting. Thin towels. Tv channels were very limited. Very small breakfast and pool areas. We didn't stay for breakfast so I can't comment on that but it looked like it would be pretty typical. Should I have known when booking a room with shower only that it meant wheelchair accessible? We didn't need the extra room or bathroom chair. I'd put this under “you get what you pay for”, the price was very cheap but I thought because it was midweek in a rural area.

Right off the highway but very quiet. Room was clean, beds were comfortable. Pet friendly hotel - which we needed as we were traveling with our dog. The sink was separate from the toilet which I always appreciate.

This is a very clean hotel. It's just off I-39, on the outskirts of a non-descript small town, a short bit off the path from the main area attraction, Starved Rock State Park. However, if you need a room in the vicinity, this is an excellent choice for a reasonable price. The rooms are always very clean and comfortable, as are the hallway and breakfast area. I can't speak about the pool, or exercise room, really, but they look okay. Breakfast is the standard hotel fare, with scrambled eggs, waffles, etc. Make sure to request your complimentary bottled water, if you are a rewards member, as they usually skip giving it out otherwise.

The plus side: this Best Western very clean, the staff was friendly, they provided a good breakfast selection, close to local food places and state parks (Starved Rock, Matthiessen). The downside: our room had a musty odor, even after we ran the air.

There was a storm and a near by lightening strike.The electricity failed for more than 12 hours. There was no way to make coffee and there was no way for me to keep my medications from spoiling, also all perishable food stuffs had to be thrown away. I was expecting some kind of compensation for this lose. The emergency lighting in the hallway also failed. In the morning the front doors to the motel would not open and were not propped open until later, in violation of safety access.

The receptionist was very kind. Not only she recognized my elite diamond status, but she also gave us a bag with a couple of bottles of water. Everything was great! The room was big, clean, and with a big refrigerator. Excellent breakfast. The pool had very warm water! This is the closest hotel to the Starved Rock State Park!!!!!! My wife and I had a great stay and would definitely stay again at this hotel.

We reserved many rooms for our Family Reunion. The Staff was polite, friendly, helpful and efficient! I would definitely let others know of the great service/value we received. Next year we are going back to this hotel. Easy to get to from the highway! Good Choice for Family!

Staff service was not great. When asked about rewards points the staff were not helpful. I was told I would not be getting the rewards points I normally get. When asked if they could correct the problem to make sure I got my rewards points they refused to do anything.

You get what you pay for. If you want a musty room, low water pressure, previous guest's dirty socks, and no protein at breakfast, then this is the place for you. I rated average because there were some positives such as easy highway access and a nice pool. This hotel is in the middle of a field with no shade, not good if you like to sit outside for some fresh air. Also, no benches. Some people like soft mattresses and pillows, but my back was not happy although the bed clothes looked clean. In summary, I would not stay here again until upgrades are made which I would be happy to pay more for.

Vomit was found in the pool area, hotel worker saw it, walked off and never came back. Rooms were kinda clean, but stayed multiple days and only once was room cleaned during our stay. Even then it wasn't vacuumed. Bfast was very minimal. Outdated hotel for the price, better options out there.

Was a good motel, didn't use any amenities. Rooms were clean. Bed was comfy. Loved the breakfast sandwiches that were available, a good change up from hotel breakfast's. If you are in need of a supper (or breakfast) go to Cindy's restaurant across the road from there. Fantastic food and prices

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now and would go back again. The hot breakfast was amazing, the pool and hottub were perfect and the rooms were clean. They have the kindest staff that obviously take pride in their customer service. The only issue I had was kids running up and down the halls and slamming doors late at night, but I mentioned this to the manager upon checkout. The last 2 stays I didn't have this issue at all.

For the price, this hotel was just fine. We were in town to go to Starved Rock and this location was good. It isn't near too much but has easy access to the highway and the park. The room was clean and the staff was helpful. The breakfast was okay. They have the make-your-own waffle machine, which is always nice.

The amenities relative for the price were on target. This is an older facility, but clean and kept up well. Desk clerks were pleasant at both check in and check out. Breakfast attendant was on top of things and cordial. There are not many options on this stretch of I39, and we would stay here again. (Also Cindy's 39 diner, is conveniently located just across the street)

I booked a room through Priceline. They acknowledged upon check in that it was prepaid. Then they asked me for a credit card for incidentals. They proceeded to charge me for the room and tax that I had already paid through Priceline. I noticed shortly after getting our bags to the room. I came down and asked the desk about the charge and they told me it was a "hold" and would be refunded when I checked out. It's been 2 days since I've checked out and now I see it is no longer a pending charge and they they have actually taken the money out of my account. I called the hotel and was first told they didn't have any record of me staying there, even though I provided the room number and everything. Finally he said he found me in their system and would give me a call back within an hour. I waited 2 hours and called them back. They told me they would have it figured out in the next TWO DAYS. This is unacceptable. They then told me they would call me back again and its been several hours and I have heard nothing. Unless you want to pay double for your room I would not suggest staying here. Also the "breakfast area" is very tiny, there's only a few tables, and the only hot food they had was instant eggs and one single waffle maker for everyone to share. The hot tub kept producing brown bubbles and the water in our tub wouldn't switch to the shower head position. Ive actually stayed at this hotel probably 10 times in the last 12 years and it used to be a really nice place when they had the old owners. Definitely has gone way down hill especially when it comes to customer service. The lady running the breakfast bar was nice though. She was the best part of the stay.

Most hotels at this level manage some basic edible proteins. This BW is the exception to the rule. One person sporadically on duty meant that the food was either cold, or over warmed and dry. The bacon was the thinnest most pathetic piece of “meat” we‘ve ever seen, and the “scrambled egg” had died and gone to hell. The next day they gave up on any pretense of supplying meat, and went with even worse “scrambled egg”. And this was after 2 awful nights sleep in a room that was so damp that even at 68F, we were still sweating in bed at 2am. By the time we left on Monday, all our clothes felt damp. The checkin staff weren't much better. I was clearly just another annoyance to be processed and moved on.

This is a beautiful hotel in Mentor. The lobby is decorated in antique like decor as was our very large king suite. Hotel was spotless and real China dishes used at a delicious breakfast. Also has a great restaurant and bar.

This is close to the Great Bear Resort where my friend checked in with her family and I was satisfied that it is close to the Respet and we don't regret that we chose this hotel after we dropped off our friend! Awesome!!!

This was just an average motel. It was clean enough. We slept good. The pool and hot tub were nice. The hot tub did have some foamy looking stuff on the surface. Breakfast was a normal hotel spread. It's in a good location for visiting the Starved Rock State Park. Nothing special nor nothing terrible just a common hotel. We did have some slamming doors when we laid down to go to sleep but they finally settled down after about 30 minutes.

Best Western hotels are not luxury hotels but this was exceptional. Check-in was quick. The room was clean and nicely appointed. The pool and hot tub were clean and at expected temperature. The breakfast was a standout made even better by the solicitous and friendly attendant. Eggs and just cooked bacon.Four types of cereal, oatmeal, made to order waffles with pecans, chocolate chips and dried cranberries. Bananas and oranges, pastries, bread, yogurt and good coffee. The little extras make all the difference. We will stay here again if in the area.

The Best Western was located about 10 minutes away from the Starved Rock Park and only a fraction of the cost of the lodge and other nearby hotels. The service was good and the Hotel was clean. The staff here answer all the questions and fulfilled every request I had!

This place was okay. Funky smell in room, but AC got rid of it. Shower was oddly slippery. Good water pressure. Breakfast fine. Young woman at the desk in the morning helped the older woman with kitchen duties. We thought that was quite kind. Beautiful setting in amongst the green corn.

The hotel was great the room were clean, the location was perfect everything was near and it was great that they serve breakfast and had coffee in the lobby all day which is a plus for me or any coffee lover outthere.

The hotel was as expected, the rooms were large and the staff was friendly. However the mattress was so uncomfortable, probably the worst I've experienced at a hotel and the in room fridge was very noisy

Been to the area a few time in the last 10 years. Always stayed in Peru, took a chance and it was worth the price difference. Clean, and up to date room. great price for the time of year we stayed. Breakfast was all we needed to start the day. Not a huge verity, but enough. Water in the shower is VERY softy. A bit short staffed so housekeeping was light, but did refresh towels when we requested. Hotel is less the 5 miles from any place you would need to go. Some really great local food choices.

Beaware, the safety Bar in showed gave away. My injuries were overlooked and no compensation resulted. The headquaters of Best Western also ignored the incident ( by passing it back to hotel in question),of November 8th, 2021, RM 108 in Best Western, Oglesby ILL. Regards Mervi Haapanen

Met our needs, nothing special. The pool was definitely heated, like bath water and heavily chlorinated.... grandson enjoyed it. Breakfast was the usual fare, again nothing special. It was a stop on our route, we slept and moved on. Staff was very friendly and personable.

Best Western Oglesby, il Clean but once in the room you could hear everything that was going on in the halls. Also had NO internet – as they said it was a Best Western corporate problem. Pretty sad they could not get it fixed and still charged full price.

The hotel staff was friendly throughout our stay. They were vigilant about keeping the common areas clean and tidy. I came down to grab a quick bite about 15 minutes prior to the breakfast stations closing. The staff was willing to make me a fresh batch of scrambled eggs so they were hot, refreshed the coffee for me and was genuinely happy to help. (I did not have them make me new eggs as they have a waffle station!)

When we arrived, room was ready, quick check-in. Very nice workers, room decor was from the late 90's… needs to be updated, along with maintenance of room itself. Bed was comfy tons of pillows! Breakfast was served daily, and until 10 am so that helped with little kids! Pool was clean, but they should have let some of the parents know to better watch their children, no supervision = hot mess in pool area and kids getting hurt!!

When I travel for business, I don't need all the frills, but I want a hot breakfast, a way to work out and a quite dark place to sleep. This place provided all of those. The breakfast had scrambled eggs and waffles as well as fruit, milk and fruit juices and a variety of breads. It is definitely a step up from the minimum I have seen for some breakfasts. I used the fitness center too. I was the only one in there each evening I worked out. I will be going back for business in this area. Maybe if I wanted to visit the state parks in the area on an overnight adventure, I would use this as a base camp also.

We were on the first day of a trip from Michigan to Minnesota. This was the first trip for us since Covid-19 We decided to make it a two day trip and wanted a good half-way stopping place. Based onpast Best Western experience we chose the Oglesby BW.

The staff were very friendly. The room was on the small side, especially the bathroom. I do appreciate the refrigerator and microwave in the room. The breakfast selections were very limited. Overall an adequate stay. Nothing bad but nothing really special either.

The smell of smoke in our room was overwhelming. I reported it to the man at the front desk and he told me that was impossible bc they have not been a smoking hotel for eight years. He would not come to our room to see and smell for himself and would not move us to another room even though they had very few guests on the Wed-Thur mid-November night we were staying. I felt like I could not breath and I had a really hard time sleeping due to the heavy smell of smoke. I don't know who, but someone is using that particular room to smoke in. He said the smell of smoke had not been reported by the cleaning staff so I had to be wrong. They already had my credit card info so I felt helpless. I will never stay at any Best Western again after this experience and advise others to be extremely wary of this particular location.

I have stayed at this hotel many of times over the years. Has always been a very clean and polite hotel. The management has changed but yet seem to be doing a great job of making your stay very comfortable. The breakfast of course we wish that things would go back to the way it was, but in my travels all hotels seem to be doing sack lunches. At least at this hotel they offer you at least a microwave breakfast sandwich. The great hotel breakfast buffet that all guest would look forward to in time of travel can never be beat and I would hope at some point we can back to that. Other than that great hotel.

There is nothing grand about this place but there is nothing bad about it either. It is your average roadside hotel. The pool area is nice, good sized and heated. The hot tub was good as well. The breakfast was better than some since covid but not superb. Choices were limited. Location is great, close to state parks. Bed was comfortable and I slept well. Room was clean, hotel was clean.

The air did not work in one of the two rooms I had booked. When we asked about it, the front desk clerk told us they already knew about the issue and gave us a small fan. They never mentioned the broken air conditioning prior to us arriving! On top of that, we found crickets climbing the walls in both rooms and a giant wolf spider in one of the bathrooms. The sheets and blankets were stained, and worst of all, I was told I would be comped for the room without air and WAS STILL CHARGED FOR BOTH. I've called three times with promises that I would be refunded and still haven't seen it happen. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!

We were planning a visit to Starved Rock Park and stayed for 1 night. The hotel is very clean, rooms are small but comfortable, breakfast was okay, no bread items like bagels or English muffins, there was often no one at the front desk. Overall a good stay.

If hotels are going to charge $250 for cleaning of rooms when people smoke in them, they need to do a better job of deodorizing them! Nothing worse than smell of stale smoke in a room. Switched rooms the next day (none available at time of complaint).

Even though covid is still in existence, we had a good stay. The best part was this one had a hot tub which I loved. Not all do. The room was nice and everything was close by. The internet worked well. The only downside was the breakfast which was a grab bag. But covid wasn't their fault.

Front service was pleasant and efficient. We were there for 2 nights room was clean, comfortable. Loved all the pillows on each bed. After 2 day of hiking we really enjoyed the pooll/whirlpool. Loved the express checkout with our BW rewards card. Would definitely return to this location.

This may not be a five-star hotel by description but the staff is courteous, the breakfast is good, the pool and hot tub are nice and it is close to starved Rock. We stay there about once a year to enjoy all starved Rock has to offer and notice by far the most reasonable place for a large family. There was a little bit of dirt on the floor when we entered our room but in general the rooms are nice and clean and the beds are comfortable. Fast food restaurants and a few good restaurants are right around it and it is a perfect place to stay!

I really wanted to rate this hotel high. My daughter and I checked in on 4/26/21, with a departure of 5/1/21. The Good Stuff: Rates (if honored) are good. The hotel staff are very friendly. The room was clean. We used the swimming pool and hot tub which were both very clean and kept at comfortable temperatures. (Pool, maybe 84-85 degrees. Hot tub maybe 101-102 degrees). If you are a fearful person, covid protocols are in place and followed. Breakfast is available, brown bagged. (Can't review breakfast or in room coffee because I did not have either.) The Bad Stuff: Only one issue. This Best Western tried to overcharge my stay and not honor the rates I was given online. I received a room discount for staying multiple nights by joining Best Western Rewards Program. I tried to discuss this at check out and provided my proof. I was told "I will need to have the manager review this." When I got home, I noticed my credit card had been charged $424.60 instead of the contractual agreement of $387.40. I called the Oglesby Best Western to discuss this matter and was again told the same thing about having a manager review it. I sent my reservation confirmation of $387.40 to his email for additional review. Since no one responded, I had to open a claim with my credit card company and refute the charge. The difference is a meager $37.20 and it is certainly not about the money, but rather about principles. It appears that of lately, many people are lying and cheating and I'm over it. It's too bad that an otherwise wonderful stay left such a bitter taste and now I am left wondering if I will ever use Best Western Rewards Program - ever.

My daughter and I stayed at BestWeatern in Oglesby to be near hiking trails. The woman at the front desk was very friendly. The pool/hot tub was great. Room was comfortable. Internet was fast... I caught the manager around the halls without a mask twice though which, that's my only real complaint. Overall a good trip!

This hotel was fantastic. Their COVID safety practices were the best I've seen any business since the virus started! Room was clean, amenities were plenty. I Interacted with three staff members and each person was helpful, professional and high level customer service. Lumpy pillows, and soundproofing noise from the hall into rooms could be better but overall this hotel was great value and experience!

Comfortable beds, decent shower and small pool and hot tub but hot tub was perfect. Room has fridge and microwave which is always nice. Room was quiet. Check in and out very fast. I would stay here again as it was worth the money.

Hotel was clean, well appointed rooms, and very reasonably priced. Issue was that there was a group there with their kids that the parents thought it was okay to allow their kids to run up and down hallways laughing and yelling until 3:30am. The hotel staff did nothing to address the issue which was somewhat frustrating. Parents were too loaded to control their kids based on their loud interactions in the hallways all night long, as well. Nice place to stay - would recommend sans drunk parents and wild kids.

This was a return visit based on our previous experience. The pet-friendly room was clean, odorless, in perfect working order, and quiet. Reception staff was friendly and helpful. There is a KFC just across the parking lot making snacking r dinner easy. The freeway is a few hundred feet away.

When I let the front desk they said it should get warmer in 20 minutes, that never happened. Key card kepted not working I had to getting them redone every time I would go to the pool area or room....

Just contacted the hotel. The website says that the pet fee is $20 per night, but it's actually $20 per pet per night. They obviously intentionally left that off multiple places on the website to trick people into paying an extra fee. Luckily I called ahead, hopefully this can save someone.

The staff is kind, caring, and helpful. Property is nice and well kept, while the inside is inviting, pleasant, and clean. Our room was comfortable, quiet, clean, well maintained, and I was able to get some much needed rest with my family.

This hotel is not far from Staved rock state park. It has an indoor pool which was heated and a hot tub. The hot tub was not as hot as we have had before but after walking and hiking it was okay. The hotel seemed to be doing the best the could do to covid, however I felt the the breakfast that was offered was not as good as I felt it should have been. They had 2 options a to go bag which had a muffin(you could not select the kind) and my daughter got a kind she did not like, a granola bar. The other was a Jimmy Deans breakfast sandwich that you had to heat up yourself. The staff there was very nice and check in was a simple as could be. They have sanitizer that you can use in multiple parts of the hotel. I would stay here again.

This hotel is located in a quiet area. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. It could use minor updates but nothing that would make me not stay. The po area is great. It's like being outside but it's not. It was quiet and could not hear other guests. Breakfast was disappointing. You got a sausage sandwich that you microwaved and could get yogurt, juice, and coffee. They also had a bag for grab and go that included a muffin, granola bar, and water. I know it's tough with covid but it could have been a lot better.

Stayed one night traveling through. Very clean and comfortable with all of the in room amenities. Staff is helpful and friendly. They did a pretty good job with the Covid-19 grab and go breakfast. Now that I know it's not that far off of I-80 we may stay again sometime.

We stayed here to go to Starved Rock State Park the next day. It is in a great location, easy to get to from the highway, easy to get to the State Park, and easy to get to restaurants. The place was very clean and comfortable. They have done a great job of adjusting to covid and still providing a breakfast.

Great staff, great motel, and excellent amenities. Nice pool & hot tub. I would definitely stay again in the future, and I will definitely recommend to friends and family. Nice restaurants nearby motel.

We visited Best Western for my birthday weekend. My husband chose this hotel for its close proximity to the nature/national parks. The location was great. It's a basic motel. Supplies all your basic needs. Good for families or keeping a budget. I was disappointed because I was hot from and went to shower the shower was decent good water pressure plenty of hot water, toiletries provided,but towels were stained with what looked like blood. The toilet seat was pretty low. And when coming out of the shower ready for a nap my husband informed me that they gave us the wrong room and they'd requested to move us. I was annoyed, but he had already said ok. Normally I wouldn't mind, but I was tired. Our new room was ok. I Went strait to bed, I couldn't fall asleep because the Sheets were of poor quality( I have very sensitive skin) I tossed and turned I put a T-shirt over the pillow as a pillow case and that was much better. I was able to get good rest the bed was firm and very comfortable. My husband did not mind the sheets they were perfect for him. In the morning when I woke up I noticed the sheets were stained :/ whatever I already slept in them. They were not dirty just stained. The night stand was very dusty. I'd still recommend the place it's convenient great price fridge microwave.

I so appreciate the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff! We had an issue with Expedia, and they did went above and beyond to help us resolve everything. The hotel was clean and the staff all wore their fabric face masks. Would totally recommend staying here!

My husband and I checked into the BW Oglesby Inn after having to bail on an extremely filthy campsite. We were so disappointed after doing so much work to get ready, but the lovely staff and clean/comfortable accommodations let us get back to our relaxing getaway! The folks that run this Inn are absolutely top notch. If for some reason you find yourself in need of a bed in Oglesby, IL, look no further!

Check in attendant was quick and pleasant. Disappointed that pool, gym and continental breakfast were closed/unavailable, despite VERY low guest attendance. Poor A/C and refrigerator in room. Discount rates would be nice for unavailable amenities.

Large clean room, lots of very fluffy pillows, quiet and excellent breakfast selection. Loved everything about the room. Check in was fast and accurate. Waffles, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, sweet rolls, bagels, fresh fruits and variety of yogurts. We will be back.

We enjoyed our stay. We used the fitness room and pool. The breakfast was hot and ample. Staff was pleasant and available in breakfast room. The room was very quiet and clean. There was a nice sized refrigerator with a freezer.

We have stayed at this Best Western many times. They are always affordable, helpful and satisfy all our needs.The nearness to events is perfect. If we have any issues it is taken care of immediatly and with the highest concern for our comfort.

Had a value plus great experience. We'd recommend this place a little off the beaten track. Oglesby is a charming little town with a great family restaurant named Cindy's. Great combination for a casual traveler as well as for business folks!

Best Western at Oglesby was comfortable. The pillows and bed coverings are not as good as you'd find at some Holiday Inns, but acceptable. I like oatmeal, but I think they didn't have any there for breakfast.

1 guy was rude the second one very nice but house keeping was so rude the next day. I dont know if I would ever stay at this hotel again. I am a very big fan of BW but this almost broke me of staying there. Mainly cause I was so exhausted when I arrived and the guy was so rude

Having stayed in some less than acceptable Best Westerns, this was a very pleasant surprise. Very friendly desk person, room nicely appointed, very clean, am not a fan of split bathrooms, but also very clean. Comfortable beds.

It was rather disgusting. The sheets were clean but the rest of the place was not. I'm 100% positive it wasn't vacuumed, the countertop by the sink was disgusting, hair in the tub. The front desk girl was very nice. The breakfast was normal hotel style. Well stocked. Overall, I didn't feel this was a good quality Best Western. I shouldn't have to clean a hotel room.

In Oglesby, Il. you have two choices for lodging, and the Best Western will satisfy your needs if you want a clean, simple say for a short duration. The room was clean, the check-in / check-out was easy, and for me, the location was perfect.

If you want to feel like you are staying with a family member stay here! Owner was exceptionally warm and friendly. Helpful too. Nice and clean very comfortable accommodations. We WILL stay here again.

Very nice hotel great staff easy to get on and off interstate. Negatives once you stop for the night you are very limited on places to eat and entertainment, I do not want to have to drive to eat once I check into the hotel. I want to walk to a nice restaurant or a nice bar

My husband and I were there to experience Starved Rock for his birthday. We first had booked our stay here but were met with a surprise when we entered our room. It reeked of cigarettes. After speaking with the hotel manager Nick, he had informed us that we couldn't move to another room and that the cost of our stay wouldn't be reimbursed if we chose to leave. I was disappointed at how my husband's birthday was going and was upset with the disregard for customer satisfaction. I contacted local authorities to assist with this problem. Officer Stone with Oglesby PD was amazing at resolving our problem and the hotel manager called us after we left to stay at the Days Inn across from Best Western hotel. He apologized for the service and we were reimbursed but not before the issue had escalated. If I were to advise anyone looking to stay at a hotel in Oglesby, I'd tell them to avoid the nonsense and go to the Days Inn.

A good place to stay, friendly and helpful staff, nice beds and a good breakfast. It has a nice pool and hot tub. It is close to the interstate and a Loves travel center. This is a good place to stop for the night or a weekend trip to Starved Rock State Park.

Raj is the best! Super friendly and very helpful. Even our children commented on the friendliness of the staff. Raj was very nice and he helped carry our plates of food. He helped us in with our luggage. He was always smiling and made sure we had a great time.

This was not a bad hotel to stay in. Although the hot tub jets were not as powerful as they should have been. The staff was very nice and always had a smile on their face. The room was good sized and the bed was very comfortable and clean. There was a wedding party that came through the hotel at all hours of the night being loud, but that doesbt reflect poorly on the hotel itself.

Hotel was acceptably clean and well decorated. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable of the process. Check in and check out went smoothly, even with the four gift cards I redeemed. Breakfasts is what you'd expect for this type of hotel. Attendant was friendly and kept things well stocked.

Clean, efficient and nice staff. Very good for a small town interstate hotel. Close to starved rock and lasalle/Peru. Cant complain for the value at all. Indoor pool and free hot breakfast, wifi. We stayed on a Saturday after visiting starved rock from the city.

The rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast had everything one needs to be satisfied. Friendly staff makes the stay more enjoyable. Easy off interstate 39 at the Oglesby exit. Good location to visit LaSalle Peru Oglesby and the Starved Rock area. Plenty of parking space, even if you have a trailer in pull.

My experience at Best Western in Ogleby, IL was really good. The hotel was clean and inviting, same with the room. I will stay there again and recommend this hotel to other travelers. It was excellent.

This is a good BW... staff very friendly, housekeeping was spot-on. Good value. Great beds and linens. Bathroom is pretty tiny....would love a layout that allowed sink and bathroom to be more separate from the sleeping quarters, but, hey, it's a motel right off I-39, so keep your perspective. I'd come back here for sure. If BW reads this, I'd love to see the day when design included a magnified mirror that afforded women a better experience in doing the whole make-up routine. Just would SOOO love to see that someday...instead of the "man-space" design. :-)

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! If I could give them no Stars I absolutlely would!!! This place is the worst, especially for customer! Had reservations for 1 room booked for over 9 nonths went to check in the manager had cancelled my reservations! Then tried saying she attempted to call me. Funny because there no no voicemail, no call log and even there own employee stated i wouldnt have showed up 3 hrs from home if i got anything!!! Attempted to speak with the area manager for the hotel and he could have cared less!!! Take your money elsewhere, because the hotel isn't even worth your money Funny how my reservation was $119.00 but they gave it away at $209!! Nothing more than a bunch of Liars!!!

nice clean rooms, breakfast above average, friendly staff. room walls a little too thin- could hear noise in other rooms around us- keep the a/c unit running and that helps. about 5 miles from starved rock and matthieson parks- easy commute.

Our check in lady and gentleman was awesome - very friendly and accommodating. The room we had a little bathroom issue was was resolved very quickly and again very helpful. Breakfast was great and very busy weekend but alway very sweet and accommodating when calling down for questions on food etc.

They had Great rooms -clean and very comfortable, wide variety of items for a great breakfast every morning whether you wanted a little or a lot, the staff was very pleasant, helpful and always trying to make sure you had a great experience.

I am disabled and tried to use the handicap bar in the shower and it kept falling right out of the wall. Could have been dangerous. Also had the manager lie to us after hearing our small dog bark OUTSIDE in the parking lot about what their pet policies actually are. Could hear EVERYTHING from upstairs guests and anyone in the hallway. Definitely got what we paid for, although anything over $100 a night should be a little better than this. The room was clean and comfortable other than the toilet clogging and the shower not being up to safety code.

We were not thrilled with our stay here...the pool and hot tub were so cloudy and dirty that one of my kids was not even willing to go in it (not typical!). When walking into the pool room there was a very unpleasant smell as well, plus a large clump of hair on the floor right inside the door (imagine cleaning out a brush.) the breakfast was typical and good but the seating area was small and packed. I had requested a quiet room and was placed on the side of the hotel with the interstate basically right outside...it was anything but quiet. If you want a quiet room you need to specify to be away from the freeway!

We spent a night here while at Starved Rock State Park for 2 days of hiking. It's very convenient, comfortable, great full breakfast including eggs, meat, yogurt, fruit. Climate system was quiet, WiFi worked well, all the people were helpful and friendly. Restaurants and gas close by. A good value - will definitely stop there again.

This was a very pleasant stay. Room was clean, girl at front desk was friendly and so helpful. Pool was small but nicely maintained and also a nice hot tub. Breakfast was great, good variety. Reasonably priced. I would stay here again.

I have stayed at this location twice now, and the service is great. The Jets on the hot tub are pretty intense, but it is nice after a day of hiking. Only 10 minute drive to starved rock. Breakfast was decent ☺

Hotel was clean, even in the "dog rooms". Staff was friendly and efficient. Plenty of dog walking areas. Lou's La Grotto has very good pizza and delivers to the room. Elevator was great for getting to 2nd floor room after a long day hiking in Starve Rock State Park.

Very clean and comfortable rooms, with a beautiful pool near to Starved Rock State Park. You can take the family to the park for lots of fun entertainment, get them all worn out and then return to your comfy hotel and toss everyone into the pool for clean fun before bed. Our room was super comfortable, and we had a quiet night's sleep. If I stayed there again, I would get a room on the top floor. Also, if you don't get downstairs at the break of dawn, they will still have a yummy breakfast for you at 9:00...they even asked us if we were done before they closed up the food line!

We booked 6 rooms for 3 families here for a weekend outing at Starved Rock. All rooms were super clean and equipped with everything we needed. The service and staff were extremely friendly. There was also an indoor swimming pool on the property that our kids enjoyed very much. There was complimentary breakfast and the food served was very fresh and replenished frequently. Overall, we loved our stay here for and would recommend to our families and friends! We will definitely be staying here again next time we go to Starved Rock

We stayed at this Best Western overnight for just a 2 day trip to hike and bike. It was a very clean hotel with nice amenities of a pool and hot tub and free hot breakfast. Our room was a king--it was large--I think that they are not all like that but we got lucky. The Noon check-out was perfect as we were able to hike in the morning, come back to the hotel to shower and change and get back on the road !

Ironing board was broken, temperature of shower water was extremely hot, and the water drained so slow in the tub. Was gong to tell the front desk when I checked out but there was a sign that no one was there.

First things first ~ kudos to Christine and Whitley for outstanding customer service. Christine especially went above and beyond, was warmly welcoming and very friendly. I left out feeling my business was truly appreciated. In fact, everyone on staff was smiling and helpful. Billie was a real sweetheart and kept things cleaned up & refilled in the busy breakfast area. My room was spacious & spotless, w/fridge/micro & flat screen TV. Free wifi w/ample signal strength. A/C kept the room comfortable. Slept well on heavenly bed with lovely linens and lots of fat, fluffy pillows. I was able to print off some important paperwork in the business center upstairs. Although my original plans were to stay in Beloit, everything in the vicinity of Rockford north was well over $100 or got such poor reviews that a wary traveler would not want to stay there. Thank you Trip Advisor !!! I was so glad I opted to stay south & drive a little further to my appointment on Monday morning, because I had a wonderful weekend in Oglesby. Next time I'm planning to visit the nearby Starved Rock State Park. Another traveler at the BW had just returned from a hike and raved about how beautiful it was. Highly recommend this lovely BW :-)

We go to this hotel, this location in Oglesby, IL every year and every year I'm quite satisfied ..the staff and the hotel seem to improve with each visit..the breakfast is good and Billie , the lady who works the breakfast, makes it even better

This hotel advertises as a non-smoking hotel. In fact, the hotel was recently converted from a smoking hotel to a non-smoking hotel. The rooms still indicate smoking allowed and smell of rank cigarette smoke. Bedding, carpet, draperies, etc. were not replaced, therefore, it smells awful (an immediate headache for me). When asked to be changed to a non-smoking room, I was told that they had no rooms available and that they could spray the room with air freshener. When I asked if all guests had arrived, they said 'no' but the other rooms were assigned to those guests and I could not have one of those rooms because it wouldn't be fair that those guests got a smelly room. Note: Rooms are assigned randomly and the young girl at the desk had no clue how to make it right. I asked to speak to the manager on duty and she did assign me another room. SECURITY at this hotel is an issue. The hotel sits near an interstate. The access doors near the rear parking lot were totally left wide open. There was a magnetic key card reader, but we didn't need it -- the door was ajar and stayed that way for the entire 3 days that we were there. I do not recommend this hotel for a whole host of reasons and will not be staying there again.

Clean rooms, called desk to inquire on something and received 1 word answer, didn't have bedding for sofa bed and staying in room with grown son. Needed both beds but no bedding to use. After calling desk twice for other things I was afraid I was bothering them so I didn't call about lack of bedding.

We have stayed here for several years on the way to a reunion. Rooms clean and quiet. Because of allergies we ask for a pet free, smoke free room, no problems. Coffee and tea always available in the lobby. Breakfast buffet get us off to a good start. Recommend getting a reservation.

This hotel has been a place I have stayed many of times due to my work travels. I have never had a bad stay. The staff is always helpful and treat me with great hospitality. They never forget me and call me by name. I love how comfortable the beds are and the rooms are always very clean.

We chose Best Western oglesby Inn because it has the amenities we like and need to get away and relax for the weekend. We loved the pool, hot tub, mini fridge, microwave, laundry roon, wi-fi, flat screen tv and the friendly service. Free breakfast was excellent!

Front desk clerk did not know how to handle gift cards. Said it would have to be handled in the morning. In stead a quick checkout was done during the night so could not use cards, Other wise the stay was satisfactory.

Minus: the 'fitness center' is a closet with three 20 y/o treadmills sqooshed in. The pool and hot tub are tiny and crowded with kids and drunks. The business center is a computer on the landing. It's not a cheap hotel. When I asked for a second luggage rack (there are no dressers in the room) they refused. They had no hot chocolate for the morning drink.

We have stayed in Ogleby at the BW anytime we weren't camping and wanted to hike the Ottowa Area. We have always had a positive experience....friendly staff, clean rooms, good prices compared to the rest of the area.

You could hear your neighbors all night. The first thing you notice was it smelled. The mirror was dirty. Bathroom tub had a crack and hole. Hairs were in tub & all over toilet. Black prints on white bed

We grew up in the area and had some family visiting from Europe and wanted to show them Starved Rock. The hotel was clean, the staff was efficient and friendly. Loved the huge array of breakfast choices. The pool was warm- which was fabulous on such a rainy dreary day. I will definitely be back over the summer and highly recommend this hotel. The only down side- is the rooms are a little small, but nothing that would deter us from coming back.

Nice place to stay for our girl's weekend. The room and facilities were clean and the room had a refrigerator and a microwave as well. The breakfast buffet was very good and the kitchen hostess, Billie, was an absolute gem. She gave us great local dining recommendations as well. I will certainly consider staying here again if in the Starved Rock area.

When I arrived, only one of the two rooms I booked and paid for (via Hotels.com) was in their system, so I had to pay on the spot for an additional room. According to Hotels.com, after I disputed the charge, they called and spoke to "James" who said I "was a no-show"! I will never stay at a Best Western again. By the way, the "hot" tub was lukewarm; the clerk said maintenance could look at it the next day. When we would not be there.

Sometimes I don't like Trip Advisor reviews because a reviewer becomes biased based on one incident therefore they will punish the establishment with an entirely negative review because they have an axe to grind so everything is poor. Same goes with excellent . I rate "excellent" in the context that this hotel is budget friendly and within that context everything was excellent. Staff Matt and Billie were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Room clean, bright and adequate, breakfast buffet plentiful and fresh. Declined room service because really, a two day stay doesn't warrant the need for fresh towels because I don't throw them on the floor but rather hang them up to dry, not sure why towels are such an issue in hotel stays. Location to Starved Rock Park good. I had a good night's sleep. Stayed at Best Western, not the Plaza. It was excellent for where I stayed and what I wanted.

This was a great stay, however i would suggest bringing your own coffee because theirs tasted horrible. Also try not to defecate too largely in the toilet, they overflow easily. Other than that there were no issues. I'd gladly come back, but with my own coffee

We stayed here because of the great rate so much cheaper than in Peru and it was a great choice the rooms are nice and clean and big and also the pool is heated which is great and also the spa was right on and a very nice breakfast too and also customer service was perfect checking in thanks so much for a nice stay !!

We found a hotel coupon book and located this hotel through the coupon ad. We found this hotel to be quite accomidating, clean and refreshing after long travel hours. The clerk may have been a new hire because he needed help registering us especially with the coupon. The pool was 89' and nice and clean. The hot top was clean too. Our rooms were very clean and everything was orderly. The breakfast staff were very friendly and served adequate breakfast items. If I am ever in that area I will stop again.

The worst experience I've ever had at any hotel. Breakfast was awful with cold microwaved eggs and weird waffles. The lock to our room didn't work, not the key, the actual lock that holds the door shut! The room was filthy, bathroom dirty, bed slept in. Non-smoking room was filled with cigarette smell when we arrived. The AGM, Nick,was beyond unprofessional. I was so uncomfortable with how my situation was handled that I called the corporate office. They asked me to leave a review and they mailed me a gift card. While I appreciate the gift card, the way the AGM made me feel will never be erased.

The staff was awful. We will never go back to this hotel. They were completely unprofessional and clearly had no idea what they were doing. From not being able to get a key to work (forcing us to go back to the front desk 3 times before a manager had to come) to an over 20 minute check in process despite being the only person checking in. A room requested based on specific needs of the guests was given away before arrival and the staff had a complete lack of empathy and was nonapologetic.

Overall great stay at this hotel. Very clean very quiet. The spa was hot and wonderful. Very close to restaurants. Great staff very helpful very nice even in the late hours. Our room was very clean only flaw in the room was the toilet was loose from the floor. Very fast internet definitely one of my favorites

Front desk staff seemed like he was on drugs and had no idea what he was doing, there was a large gap in my room door when closed and made me fell unsafe, shower head was squealing like a pig during shower, shower curtain was dirty/stained, there was dried urine on the back of the toilet, rust around the tub drain, the hot tub was awful and cold, the jets were not even real jets. I would never stay here again. No one seemed to care about anything there they just looked busy and bored.

Had a terrible experience with Best Western, Ogelsby, IL last Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018! Flyer came out from Best Western discounting the rate to $60. Called the hotel several days before our stay and was given the discounted rate! At check in was given the discounted rate and signed the bill. At night a mgr. changed the rate to $109 and slipped it under the door and charged our credit cards the difference. A Bait and Switch!! Argued the next morning at checkout to no avail. Nick the mgr. was terrible, rude and dismissive! Gals at the counter very sympathetic and nice! Had about 12 rooms in our party and all really pissed off! Will not be staying at a Best Western again. Suggest Days Inn across the street! Hope the extra $50 was worth the bad press and word of mouth! Goodbye Best Western!

I had a coupon for $60 A room. I presented the coupon for my room at check in, same for the other 10 rooms my family reserved. We phoned ahead to make sure the coupons were valid, they were. Arrived, paid the $60 with the coupon, signed the bill, everything is fine. Wake up to find a new bill for $129 + tax and fees totalling $143. An employee named Nick, said the coupons were not valid overnight while we were sleeping and charged everyone the extra amount without consent. Now they refuse to honor our original deal. They strongarmed payment from us. The lady, Tracy, in the day was nice. Best western just 2 dozen customers for life over this, as none of us will ever stay at one again. They kept the signed bill for $60 and slipped this unsigned bill for $143 under my door while I slept. They stole money from us.

Whenever we visit the Starved Rock area we stay here. Very clean spacious rooms with microwave and mini fridge. Comfortable beds with plenty of pillows. Delicious free breakfast offering a variety of hot and cold items to choose from. The staff is genuinely friendly, polite, and helpful. Very nice and again extremely clean indoor pool and spa. 15 minutes to Starved Rock and other local points of interest as well as shops and restaurants. Also pet friendly. Looking forward to our next stay.

Very clean throughout the hotel. Room very comfortable and clean. Swimming pool area very clean and well stocked with towels. Breakfast was great. Nice selection each morning. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

My grandma and I stopped here for the night on our way to Indiana. The beds were nice, the room was clean, and the breakfast in the morning was good. The only complaints were I found two ants crawling in the bed, we searched and there weren't a ton. The other complaint was the toilet seat was broken. Overall decent for a night and we would probably stay again.

Staff was friendly at check in. The bathroom was a bit small, but we managed. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, and good size sleep area. The wife had to wipe the fridge out with Lysol wipes as it was not clean. The bed slept very well, and the breakfast area was good and gave us what we needed to start the day. We considered this to be an EXCELLENT value for the price for a place to stay and we would stay there again. Little bit of hall noise, but not too bad.

I stayed at this hotel when I went to Starved Rock State Park. The only issue I had was hair in the shower. The people at the front desk took care of it when I told them about it. The breakfast was your typical breakfast items. I would definitely stay here again.

stayed here as a weekend getaway, the hotel was right on I 55. the rooms were clean and big. the pool was nice and the hot tub was nice , but way too hot. enjoyed the breakfast, they had sausage , bacon, eggs and stuff to put on your oatmeal. it was real good.

Driving back home from a concert we decided it was time to pull off the road for some rest. We stopped at this location because we've stayed at Best Westerns before and have had great luck with them. Check in process took a bit, we were given the last room available due to a full house. The room was a smoking room, which I can't believe that this is still allowed. The room was okay at first, we slept with the window open but had the issues. The toilet did not flush, there was no pressure so u had to plunge it every time you used it. The shower was not the greatest, a lot of rust/hard water stains and my aunt found a lot of hair in the tub. This was a very disappointing visit for a Best Western. The location could use new carpet, better security(the one back door was open/no need for your room key. Would not recommend this location.

We stayed here after hiking Matthiessen State Park. It was a short drive from the park. The staff was very friendly and professional. The beds were comfortable. The only weird thing was our door handle opened up from the inside which made it odd getting out of the room. In other words most handles will turn clockwise. This one only turned counter clockwise. I would stay here again.

I could not believe the condition of this place for a Best Western. Our first observation was that the back door was broken and thus there was no security. Our friends had to change rooms because their air conditioning didn't work. Ours was so noisy that we left it on high while we were out for the afternoon so it would be cold and we could turn it off to sleep. Our toilet was loose; it shook every time you sat down or rose on it. Housekeeping knocked on our door at 7 am with clean towels. I guess they were there to clean the room because when we returned in the late afternoon the room was not made up! We complained to the front desk where there were very nice young people working who said they only worked the front desk and couldn't do anything. No manager could be contacted! I've seldom seen a hotel in such sad shape.

Lady making and setting out breakfast was super friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast included bacon and sausage. Hotel had indoor pool and spa. And we were able to bring our pup. Would definately stay again!

Nice,clean, friendly staff. Easy Check in and checkout. Would Easley recommend to all travelers. I was awarded an upgrade to a suite. Would have been a major dissapoinment if I was paying for it. All in all a nice stay.

I checked in late evening and so I appreciated the noon check-out; James did an excellent job greeting me and checking me into room 104. But, I was so tired that I slept in and I only wished the breakfast period would have been, likewise, extended from 9:30 to 10:00 am (I overslept and missed breakfast by fifteen minutes). The room was of a modern style and immaculately clean. However, there were a few items of note (see attached photos). Overall, I have a very favorable impression of this hotel and I would probably stay here again under similar circumstances. But, for a standard hotel (in a rural location just off of an interstate highway) at this price point, I don't believe that it represents a great value.

My room was very clean and the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. Staff was very attentive, there was plenty of parking and the location was easy to navigate in and out of the property.

From the minute you walk in and then are on your way, you are treated with respect,and everyone is so genuinely interested in what is best for your stay. It was very pleasant and felt very secure to stay there. We have revisited several times for those very reasons.

This hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly and professional. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We didn't use the pool but it appeared to be properly maintained. They had a decent selection of food for breakfast. The location just off Interstate 39 is convenient and easy to find. Now the reasons it didn't get a 5 star rating. Our room was noisy. It sounded like the people in the room next door decided to rearrange their room and a small herd was running up and down the second floor hall. However, the biggest negative for me was the lack of decent hot water for tea. The hotel uses hit pots for their various coffees and the hot water for tea and hit chocolate. Apparently they just clean these out at the end of the day and randomly refill them for breakfast the next morning and put on the label for the contents. I made a very large cup of hot tea and when I took a drink all I could taste was coffee. Needless to say, I dumped it out. Sorry, but a pot or machine for tea has to be dedicated or everything will taste like coffee. Yuck.

We made a last minute family trip to starved rock state park. We chose best western. We arrived early and without hesitation we were able to check in early. Very clean room and pool area for my kids and I. Walking distance to a few restaurants. Not far from starved rock. Great experience and will stay again when in the area. Thanks again for a great experience!!

Very clean and up to date, and a great price! The staff was friendly and helpful. Nice to have a hot breakfast. We had one issue where the toilet flooded in the room above ours and it started leaking into our bathroom at 11pm. The staff quickly moved us to a new room, and the next day we received a call apologizing for the inconvenience and they refunded a percentage of our room fee. That's great service!

This hotel smells horribly of smoke. I have not experienced smoke smell in a hotel room in a very long time. It is horrible!! I do not recommend you choose this location. Our non smoking room stunk on and off as I assume others were smoking in nearby rooms.

Stopped at the Best Western in Oglesby out of necessity. We were driving north and ran into icy driving conditions and decided to pull over instead of taking a chance and getting in an accident. When I went inside to see if there were any rooms available, the desk clerk gentleman said he might have 1 room but had to go check and see if it was clean. When he returned he said that the heater in the room was broken but we could see if it was to cold for us to stay in. Well unfortunately it was very cold and I know we could not have made it through the night. He apologized and said that was the only room.He then said he had a smoking room we could look at, and see if we could tolerate the smoke smell. Well it smelled like smoke but-we figured it was better than trying to find another hotel in the weather. Room was clean and the bed was fine-no complaints. The breakfast the next morning was excellent-They had scrambled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy, and many other items to chose from. All in all was very satisfied with this hotel and very grateful for the night desk clerk that went above and beyond to get us a room.

I truly liked this place very much! Great price, location, the beds are comfy, and I loved the breakfast! I would have given it 5 stars, but the hot tub was cold, but they fixed it and it worked in the morning. The indoor pool and hot tube was great!

Rooms are not very clean and the breakfast has no variety and is overcooked. Hotel lobby needs to be updated and repaired, the handicap switches to open lobby doors fell off. Daily room cleaning was not acceptable. Some days towels were just thrown on the towel rack. Floors were not vacuumed when there was clearly dirty areas.

Overall we were very satisfied with our stay. We had stayed at a couple value motels and a more expensive hotel during our road trip, and this BW was prefect. My wife even commented on how nice it was for just a little more than the "value" places. It was just as nice as the more expensive place we had stayed at. We will continue to look for BW during future road trips as a family.

The gal at the front desk should not be working the front desk she was HORRIBLE and you could tell she did not want to be there. She was outside smoking more than she was inside the building, I have stayed here 4 times in the past, just a bad staff member on duty.

hotel did not clean room the next day of our stay. I am unsure why. there was no one at front desk to ask and it was late when we got back that night. The biscuits were hard as a rock and was unable to eat them. The eggs appeared to be burnt The sauseges were a little burnt as well. so basically the hot part of the breakfast was unedible from being overcooked. I guess we did express checkout but no bill was left under my door and we just left. The room was OK but the toliet rocked back and forth. This was a holiday weekend and I dont expect mush for the price so

Everyone was nice, room was clean , prefect pillows,comfortable beds overall great place to stay. Location is good restaurant's and gas station in walking distance. Will definitely stay again . Very satisfied.

When it says handicap rooms only the bare minimum can be expected. There are no stairs to get in the pool and when asked how to get the chair lift to gain access the manager didn't know how to use it. I knew we were in trouble when we entered the room and the door to the bathroom was opening in the wrong direction. Other than that it was an adequate place to stay.

This was a fair hotel for the price. The breakfast was pretty good - the eggs were way too salty the first morning. The pool area was nice, but the hot tub was a little too hot. The room was nothing fancy but clean which is what I expected. We were told the cable was out when we arrived and it seemed off and on for our whole stay. Channel selection was limited which ordinarily wouldn't be a big deal, but the weather was unseasonably cold so we spent more time in the room than normal.

Hotel staff was very helpful. The breakfast was great. I would continue to use this hotel for future trips near the Oglesby area. The room desk person was very helpful. He knew a lot the area. The room was very nice and clean. The hotel was also very quiet that night.

Dirty, Dirty, Dirty! First we come in to find the front desk guy either stoned or or at the end of 48 hour shift. Totally not with it at all. The lobby smelled of bad cleaning chemicals. We get into the room and there are stains in the toilet that could easily been cleaned with a bit of effort. There was what looked like melted candy on the toilet too. The faucet in the sink looked as though it has NEVER been wiped. There are stains on the bedding. Just creepy and gross. The worst part for my husband was when he tried to change the channel and got audio only. He called the front desk to ask about the tv and was told there was an issue with the cable and it would be out till the next day. If you have choices do not choose this place! We had stayed in a best western the previous 2 nights in Wisconsin and had the best service and facility. So disappointed in this location!

We have stayed here a few times, big parking lot for rv and travel trailers. Always have great service. Right off interstate 39. Easy in and out. Food and fuel very close. Bed are nice, good wifi and good breakfast

Clean, friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Sam's pizza is just down the road also. Recommend a pizza to go from there. KFC just across the parking lot. The breakfast was the best motel breakfast we had on our 2 week vacation.

We stop at this Best Western whenever we go south. We have always been pleased with the cleanliness os the rooms and the friendliness of the staff. It is conveniently located and there is a family restaurant close by for dinner.

We were in town for a wedding. Our room was very nice; clean ' quiet and comfortable. Our daughter had issues with her room; a bloody sheet and a dirty towel when she first checked in. The issue was resolved quickly. Her reservation was for a king room but none were available at check in. Breakfast was average and nothing out of the ordinary.

This is a clean hotel with nice beds and attentive staff. The price is right and the location is easy to find. There are restaurants within walking distance and a few gas stations make this a good place overnight stay during a road trip.

A nice place to stay, close to the State Parks in the area. Enjoyed Matthiessen S. P. 1st day & then went to Starved Rock S.P. the next. We enjoyed the Matthiessen S.P. best. Small but very beautiful. Worth the trip to see it's beauty that God has provided naturally. The hotel was clean pretty, with well lit parking area. Roads to it are also easy to find & no pot holes. Easy to find.

The pet friendly hotel is very easy to find in a convenient location to local restaurants and fuel. The staff provided excellent service from check-in thru check-out. The lobby was very inviting. The room was clean with all of the usual amenities. The breakfast was good quality and fresh. There also larger parking spots which was good since we were trailering a boat. Overall a very good experience.

After a couple years of seeming to go down hill I was pleasantly surprised to find the place much improved. Staff more friendly a helpful. Room in better shape than in the past. Happy to see this as I stay here a few times a year.

Any hotel that accepts dogs will always get a high rating from me yet this hotel deserves it anyway. Please note: You cannot leave the dog in the room unattended or in a crate. I wish I would have read the pet policy before. Usually we only leave him for dinner. The room was clean. Thomas, the breakfast attendant, did an excellent job in the morning. The hotel had a very nice, fresh breakfast selection with non dairy selections upon request. With both of us being vegan traveling with a dog, I appreciate clean mini fridges in the room. The front desk was very pleasant and the maid service were friendly. Checkout is noon which is really nice bonus after a long hike at Starved Rock the day before. Nice stay.

As our first highway stop on the drive home to Alberta from Detroit, we decided to try the best western hotel in Oglesby. We were pleasantly surprised by how convenient it is to drive to La Salle and Peru for dining and shopping in a nice mall. The front desk attendant gave us some suggestions and easy directions.

Located on a US-51 & I-39 junction, it should be just a Hotel for a street stop. Instead, it guarantees and offers all the comforts required of collection category. Clean rooms and guaranteed minimum services. Very friendly and helpful staff. Ample parking available. If you are passing, highly recommended.

After an unexpected trip to Rockford, Illinois my elderly Mother and I needed a place to stay for the night. After 3 no-vacancy attempts we stopped at the Best Western Oglesby Inn. What a relief - they had a room on the first floor and the price was right. So tired, I didn't think to as for any discounts. The room was lovely & clean, the bed was so comfortable we slept in the next morning. Free full breakfast bar and it was very good. Will remember this hotel for future stays.

The Best Western Oglesby Inn has recently been updated – within the last few months. The renovation is almost finished. Many things have improved since I was last here December 8, 2016. Quite impressed now and I would stay here again and again: not just for the service, but for the room as well. I almost didn't recognize the lobby! Everything was up to standard Best Western expectations. The beds and bathrooms were nicely styled. I used to be on the lookout for extra noise in the rooms, which is refreshingly covered up by the heater/AC fan. They have replaced the unit which has the option for running constantly.

The hotel and room was clean. The staff was excellent. Thomas who stocked the breakfast bar (among other things) was really great with a very cheerful attitude and very meticulous about his work. This was the best breakfast we have had in some time at a hotel. It had eggs (hard boiled and scrambled), sausage and biscuits and gravy among other things. We stayed at several other hotels in the area in the past. This is our new favorite. The hotel was quiet at night for sleeping. Hotel has an elevator which is a huge plus when taking a 2nd floor room.

the staff was great - breakfast was good and hot (or cold) depending on what you had - self served and fully stocked- the room was clean and comfortable bed. I only had about 6-8 hours between work assignments so it was perfect- very quiet also

Needed a comfortable base camp for a hiking and biking weekend and this place more than fit the bill. The room was quiet and comfortable. Full size fridge and microwave were perfect to keep the beer cold (two great stores right across the street) and warm up all the leftovers from Delaney's restaurant (a must if you stay here!). The free breakfast was superb with eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage, fruits, cereals (hot and cold), juices, waffles, you get the picture. Starved Rock State Park is an easy 5 minute drive away. The LaSalle trailhead of the IM Canal trail is even closer. Hike and bike to your heart's content and then retire your tired muscles to a soak in the indoor pool or whirlpool followed by a nap in a lounge chair on the pool deck. Weekday rates are a RIDICULOUS value and the weekends are worth what you pay.

We stayed at this property Fri. 7/21/17 & Sat. 7/22/17. Upon checking into room we noticed that the AC was making a very LOUD chirping noise. We asked the front desk if we could have a different room & were told we had the last available room, but that we could check in the morning. We were not able to sleep unless the AC was off. It was a very hot\\humid evening so the room became very stuffy very quickly. On Sat. am we again checked with the front desk to see if we could have a new room. No such luck. We asked if the maintenance dept. could take a look at the AC to stop the chirping. The response was "if the sound is what we think it is, there is nothing we can do about it". No offer to check out the AC. No effort was made to make our stay comfortable. The chirping noise continued and no sleep was had for the Saturday evening stay. The toilet would not flush when we returned to the room Sat. evening. We stopped by the front desk and were handed a plunger to fix the problem ourselves. This was surprising! The issue with the toilet was not able to be fixed with a plunger so needless to say we had to use the bathrooms by the pool. The room security deadbolt was also broken. We stayed in Room 134. All of these issues were brought up upon check out and we were told that the manager would call us to discuss. After a week we never heard back from the manager so we wrote a letter to the corporate office of Best Western (to both the CEO and to customer service). We never heard back from the corporate office either.

Pros-This hotel has rooms that have been newly renovated. New carpet, paint, furniture and lighting. The lighting was excellent and there are both heat lamp and exhaust fan in the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and the ac was adequate. Cons-The window actually opened, but because there was no screen I didn't leave it open long since there were too many flies in the area. The toilet had a black mold ring. This wasn't because the room was unused for a while. We were told that the hotel was fully booked the night before so I know the room had been freshly cleaned. I can't imagine why a little bleach or toilet cleaner had not been used. The shower curtain had rust pink stains growing at the bottom so it should have been laundered with bleach as well. The blanket which was encased between two clean sheets had dried blood stains on it. The phone never did work and even the maintenance man said that it was new but didn't know how to use it. I couldn't even call the front office to report that. No finally unplugged it just to stop the flashing message light. The desk seat chair was damaged and one of its arms was quite wobbly. That was replaced cheerfully by the maintenance man. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. They did a good job of keeping up with the coffee and putting food out for breakfast. The tap water was not very pleasant but there were free bottles of water available in the lobby. The ice machine may have had filtered water because I used it in my drinks with no problem. Breakfast was the standard fair of breads and pasties, yogurt, oatmeal, bananas, apples, cereal, sausage, gravy and instant eggs. The eggs were evidently made with the funky tap water because they had an odd flavor to them.

I've stayed here 5 times in 6 years. Always impeccably clean and professional and helpful staff. Complimentary breakfast better than most. More protein choices than other chains. Fitness room had one machine needing repair. Free guest computer in loft near entry.

Room bathroom did not function and was not corrected. NO explanation left or other alternatives made to correct the problem. Tub did not drain properly, and water pressure was terrible. Decor was from the 80's and mix matched. If you're on I-39, keep driving to find another hotel to stay. Better off camping, and I don't camp.

Clean and comfortable. Decent breakfast but...an electrical storm knocked out exterior key readers so that side and rear doors could not be opened from outside. Management responded by propping open doors. When we arrived there was no signage indicating problem, no mention of the problem at check-in and someone had removed the doorstops keeping the door open. Poor communication and poor security.

Clean, neat and reasonable rates. The staff was on the ball, plenty of parking. Gas Stations and fast food places very close by to the hotel. Close to the interstate. Good Bang for your buck. Close to Starved Rock State Park. Great place to hike and see the outdoors.

There's nothing quite like walking in to an attractive lobby and having such a nice and efficient greeting by Vinny. Bottled water is prominently displayed between the breakfast area and the arrival area, 24 hrs./day. There is also fruit and coffee, all day nice touches throughout. Check out the private computer area in an open area/alcove on the 2nd floor above the lobby. It's set off so you don't have people brushing by in a hotel lobby like so many hotels. It's comfortable and set up like your own home office. We had a clean, roomy standard room with comfortable bed and pillows. The new, quiet digital thermostat air controls are a plus. Nicer yet is the roomy bathroom with an overhead heat lamp and exhaust fan. Breakfast was attended by a very hard worker who beautifully handled the peak hour crowd.

This place was good. Clean room, pool, breakfast. Located perfectly for our plans to hike Starved Rock and bicycle along the canal. I liked it. We were also very happy to partake in some food and tequila at Mr. Salsa's down along the main street here.

Simply put, great Hotel to stay at, clean, flat screen tv's microwave and refrigerators in rooms, fast free internet, pool and hot tub. very good breakfast, biscuits and gravy and sausages and patties, waffles and other things There wasnt' any eggs, but I think they ran out. Staff was very helpful. They have bottled water to go when you leave, which is nice, but it would be a lot better if it was kept cool and not on a table in the sun.

Reserved a non-smoking room online. Walked into the room it immediately smelled like cigarette smoke. Called the front desk to complain and they said they were aware that it used to be a smoking room but they were transisitioning it and had put in new carpet and furniture. They said if we had called and reserved our room instead of booking online they could give us a discount. Since we booked online they were not able to give us a discount, which is completely ridiculous. Remote also wouldnt shut all the way so batteries kept falling out. Breakfast was good though and decent price if it had been a nonsmoking room.

We have stayed at the Best Western Oglesby Inn multiple times over several years. The breakfast is one of the prime reasons we return. The selection is extensive for a free breakfast, and the food is always fresh and tasty. The staff is pleasant and efficient; the rooms and amenities are good for this price level. The hotel is very easy to get to from the freeway.

Always a sure bet when staying at Best Western. They have been a standard for me all across the country. Not only have I used them for a full family stay, but I've also had trips where I was able to bring my dog thanks to Best Western.

We were driving through IL and chose this hotel for our night's stay. Check-in staff was helpful. Room actually smelled fresh when we walked in. We were in a king handicapped accessible room with micro/fridge. Found everything clean, quiet, and comfortable. Breakfast was standard with some hot items and fresh fruit, which we always appreciate. Would definitely stay again if traveling through this area.

This Hotel booked rooms for me that I never booked - I was going to a wedding on 7/30 - I booked 3 rooms for Saturday night, and 1 of them for Friday night - they booked all three for Friday night - I canceled the one room on Friday as we weren't going to arrive until Saturday - Next thing I know I was double charged for Saturday night one my Visa and the MasterCard I used to book it - then they charged me for a no-show on Friday night for the two rooms I never booked!!! Is this a scam or what??? When I called there the manager said there was nothing they could be and my charges on my MasterCard will eventually "fall off" What??????? No customer service whatsoever - Never, Never go there again!!!!

A very nice property...we spent the night as we were passing through the area and found it to be very clean, comfortable and the staff was so friendly and nice. Breakfast bar was more than adequate...very good way to start our morning. We can recommend this Best Western without any reservations at all.

Stayed on night while traveling with family. Overall the accommodations were fine including indoor pool, breakfast bar and convenient location with restaurants nearby. Some unpleasant odors we noticeable in the hallway. Staff was pleasant and beds were comfortable. Shower head did not work well.

We traveled and stayed at this hotel and were disgusted that they had smoking rooms right down the hall from our nonsmoking rooms. You could hear individuals talking in the hallway and dogs barking as well. Overall it appeared to be clean and updated so having smoking rooms seemed out of place.

A typical hotel. Clean, friendly staff. The water pressure wasn't the greatest, but typical of other hotels. They were remodeling lot of the rooms, so that should be nice. Easy access off the expressway, and fast food options are plenty. A nice little town to stay in for hiking at starved rock state park.

Although the place was undergoing renovation it was done in such a manner that there was no disruption to the guests. I imagine it will be even better upon completion. Location is very convenient to the Illinois Valley area.

There were two younger guys at the desk when we checked in on July 25 around 815 PM. We had a reservation for a no smoking room. I asked the clerk if the room was a no smoking room and the other guy behind the counter said " no, we've filtered all of the smoke from the smoking rooms into yours." I had to call back to get the Wi-Fi code. The security in this hotel is severely lacking. The rear entrance close to our room at dusk was physically open and was not one you could close meaning anyone can walk the halls. The safety bolt in room 130 hits against the side of the door jamb as there is NO hole for the bolt to pass through to secure your room door. Not cool. Inside the room, we were greeted by a warm, musty smell. Immediately I noticed a dirty towel over the shower curtain rod, wet floor mat, and used hotel soaps in the shower. The floor was covered with lint and there was trash in the garbage can. There were opened coffee packets on the table. The beds appeared made, but there some spots on the sheets. Considering what we found around the room, I question if the sheets were clean for our visit. The front desk handed a clean towel and a small bottle of shampoo. No apology or action. I don't see how this hotel can have 4 star rating. Even the breakfast room windows were smeared and clouded. Good luck finding a clean table at breakfast. I expected better. Clean and safe facilities are hallmarks to a good hotel. You can do better elsewhere.

Stayed for 2 nights while traveling through and visiting Staved Rock. Great location just off I-39 and about 15 minutes to Starved Rock. Check in was easy and JT was very helpful. He recommended a place for supper and said to let him know if there was anything else we needed. The room was adequate and clean. Kids enjoyed the pool, my wife and I just wish the hot tub would have been working. Breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast. For the price, I was very pleased.

The motel is about average in most ways. Security is lax as the door at the far north end did not latch automatically. Thus it was always open. Our room door also did not latch unless you pushed it or pulled it shut. Not a big deal, I suppose, but it could be.

The room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was minimal and the area was not very neat. The fitness center A/C was not working, the weight machine was broken. No water and cleaning wipes availalbe in the fitness area. Due to the Starved Rock area pricing was high for the amenities received.

This Best Western is undergoing renovations and the construction dust and mess is down the entire first floor hallway and into the rooms. The hot tub was also under reconstruction and dust and tools were throughout the pool area. I would wait until the reconstruction is completed before staying in this hotel.

Glad I decided to stop in Oglesby. Great location near Starved Rock State Park. Nice to have a couple places in walking distance for dinner. Staff were very friendly. Newly renovated room was very good.

Will never stay here again. Filthy, smelled, ac didn't work right, staff completely untrained, manager was worthless. Beds filthy, bathroom smelled like a locker room, hair, DNA etc all over sheets. When called front desk was told we could change sheets ourselves as no housekeeping was available. I cut up my BW card and threw it away. Never will stay at any BW again. Avoid this place at all cost

Great place to exit the interstate and sleep. An inexpensive option if you are visiting local parks. Call ahead to verify the whirlpool and swimming pool are operational if these amenities are important to you.

The hotel was very comfortable, breakfast was great, staff was very helpful and friendly, hard working. The indoor pool was warm. The hot tub was not in service. The hotel was very close to Starved Rock State Park. There was many activities close by.

Positives are that the hotel was very reasonably priced, clean and the breakfast was good start to our hiking days. Challenges were that the air conditioner needed repair (fortunately it was not too hot during our visit), toilet stopped functioning our 2nd night, and the sink clogged. Staff immediately offered to switch our room for each incident, but we were not in the room enough to go through the effort of moving.

Already stated No chair or seating , leaking sink, very dusty, cold pool and non working hot tub. Desk person ho could care less I need two hundred characters to post this review but have said it all. Brekfrest was mediocre at best, warm withlittle selection

We called ahead for a reservation at 10:30 from Eau Claire. We tried 3 times and let the phone ring for several minutes each time but no one answered. I went online and reserved a room for 2 people with a king sized bed and got a confirmation of our reservation. When we got there they couldn't tell us why they didn't answer. Also, the reservation they had was for 2 people with 2 queen sized bed. We said that's not what we reserved and the desk clerk said "well that's what we have." We showed him the confirmation and accepted the change since it didn't really matter to us. Both people working at the desk wore what I would consider work clothes and baseball caps and were pretty unfriendly. When we got to our room we couldn't get the pair of lights by the bed to turn on. We called Mr. personality from the front and he came and finally got the switch to work. We told him not to turn it off, we would. Actually we never could turn it off so we just unscrewed the light bulbs when we went to bed. Breakfast was OK as well as the coffee. A plus was that they had good parking for trailers.

The hotel was clean and orderly. The staff was pleasant. It was very convenient to the RTE 251 expressway and I-80. They offered a free breakfast, but I ate at a very nice family style restaurant across the street.

This hotel is a bargain for the price. For the value received, I would have gladly paid $20 more for this room. The beds were comfortable and the Internet was good. About the reviews that the walls are thin: they are. I heard other people's room doors slam a few times this morning. To compensate, I kept the heater fan running all the time and did not seem to hear very much else after that. So, that worked. Breakfast was in a compact place but it was good and a sign showed how to make a breakfast sandwich. The biscuits and gravy was very good. The gravy was fresh and the biscuits were moist. The waffles with chocolate chips baked in were very good. Where they really excelled was in an attitude of providing service to the guests. It was amazing how helpful everyone was. Things seemed to work like clockwork and it is impressive to watch. Their service to me was the best of all the 22 Best Westerns I have been to and it really made a difference in the perceived value of the hotel. I saw an older Indian looking husband and wife working together doing housekeeping in one of the rooms. They were friendly and it was refreshing to see their teamwork. There were three people at the front desk ready to help. We were given a bonus gift of three bottled waters. They discussed renovation plans discussed with me. I would definitely stay here again, if nothing else but to know that I would be very well taken care of with every need met.

Computers were down at check in, made for a hastle. Lots of peeling paint in the bathroom, can't be so hard to paint? I have stayed here several times through the years as it is a convenient stopping point for me. Seems to go down hill every time I stop.

Clean, everything was in working order, pool, WIFI, breakfast - Everything you would expect. Bed was comfy and TV was new. Basic bathroom. I went to breakfast on Sunday at 945 and everything was available, not picked over or last of the bunch. Just what you need for a short stay in a hotel.

The hotel was nicely landscaped and the lobby was small but clean. The employees were friendly and let us know that there was some minor renovations being done but that they would be finished in few hours.We had a room with a king bed. It was updated and clean and very big! The pool was fine however the hot tub was hot but the jets did not work. Breakfast was fine. Good variety of healthy snacks and comfort food. Egg patties not scrambled eggs-not bad but not great.

Upon check-in the body odor in our room was not good. The carpet by the window was soaked, assuming from rain the night before. There was an honest to God large hairball on the towel hook behind the bathroom door. And, it was a bit scary to see the cigarette butt and other debris under the bed skirt that needed a clean. Not sure if there was blood, oil or what on the skirt, but i wish I hadn't seen it. Service was nice and fast. Otherwise a comfortable stay and easy to get to the hikes we had planned as well as the nearby towns for dinner. Pizza at Sam's was an experience. Just go there to order it then come back an hour later to pick it up. It's worth it.

The location is great. The hotel is very well run. The breakfast is great with lots of options. The rooms are nicely sized and decorated well. Most of all, the rooms are very clean. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.

Our experience at this hotel was outstanding. From the friendly, welcoming greeting at checkin, to restaurant recommendations, to checkout, we were treated like special customers. The rooms are a bit dated but so what? They are clean and everything works as they should, even reliable high speed Internet. And they could not be more convenient to the freeway. A good job by all.

Not a bad hotel , but I don't care to see the help being dressed down. That should be done in a private setting. The owners & their family's should not use the guest breakfast seating during breakfast/checkout time, so there is ample seating for the guests.

hot tub did not work, had not worked for over a week. No forks available during breakfast. Juice machine at breakfast out of order, too much money for this hotel in this area with items not working or not available

The Best Western in Oglesby, IL has a full breakfast menu, including fresh fruit such as melon and strawberries. There is a grab-and-go menu for those in a hurry. We enjoyed dinner at the family restaurant next door. Cost of the hotel is good.

I have no big complaints about this hotel: it was clean and very roomy, the staff was ok and the free breakfast was run-of-the-mill. It just wasn't anything special, either. I wanted to use the pool but didn't end up having the time to do so, unfortunately. There were a lot of people using the pool at all hours of the day, so it must've been decent.

Thuis is a great hotel to stay at when traveling from Mpls Mn to Florida if traveling with pets. It is about 7 hours from the city and as a small town offers plenty of options for Dinner. We like MJ's for a drink and great food.

I found this hotel ideal for a quick one night stop on our 3 day journey south to Florida. It is right next to the Oglesby interchange for I-39 about 3 miles south of the I-39 interchange with I-80. It was reasonably priced. Check in was quick and efficient with a competent and professional desk clerk. Our room was a standard American hotel room. It was well equipped, coming with a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. There was a nice little pool (not well suited for laps) and a well aerated spa pool. Breakfast was included and served in a cramped but well maintained and stocked breakfast room. It included cereal, pastries, fruit, a waffle machine, sausage patties, pre-fab egg patties, biscuits and gravy, juice, yogurt, coffee, tea, and other items.

Staff was super friendly, room was clean, and the pool & hot tub were awesome!! Breakfast was good too! Great location as well, right of the expressway & close to Starved rock & Matthiessen state park.

Nice and clean friendly staff very helpful young man at front desk told us best places to eat supper very nice free breakfast the place was full and I made reservations Wednesday I called direct a little high in price but I think being such a great weekend everybody was here starved rock was so packed I'm surprised that you could find room on the trails

I stayed at the Best Western Oglesby for 4 nights. My stay was very pleasant. Room was clean and there were no problems when I brought my little dog. This hotel is very close to Starved Rock, Matthessien, and Buffalo State Parks so depending on your length of stay, you could visit one park per day. It was a very relaxing trip. The pool was nice too. I will definitely stay here again.

The hotel was attractive and the room was good sized. The bed was reasonable comfortable and the hotel was quiet. The breakfast was typical of a value priced hotel. The "egg patties" were strange and tasteless. I am not sure that they had ever been near a chicken.

This hotel is good. I found it to be clean and everything was in working order. The bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly. The free breakfast was just ok, which what I was expecting for a hotel in this class of hotels. Even though our room faced the interstate (I-39), the hotel is far away enough from it that the noise level is acceptable. If you are looking for a basic hotel at a good price near Starved Rock, this will do.

My husband & I stayed there in July when we visited Starved Rock Park. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, staff was courteous, and we were able to grab a quick breakfast in the lobby before heading out for a hike in the park. The park was beautiful, we walked way too far (about 8 miles)...and oh, did that bed feel comfortable after that! It was a nice stay and we would stay there again.

Stayed here for a wedding because it was close. The room was not very clean. Stayed 2 nights. The second day when we came back from the wedding our room had not been cleaned and we did not have any towels as all of our towels were in the floor wet . They never came n our room to clean. The breakfast is not very good either. the hot food is cold. It seems when they run out your are out of luck even if it is not time for the breakfast to be over. Not what I call a nice hot breakfast. One good thing we had a very good bed, so we did get a good nights sleep.

Everything was good. Breakfast could have been a little better We went for a family wedding. It was beautiful weather. We also rented a car and got a free upgrade. Breakfast was a bit crowded and no butter. :(

Over the Labor Day weekend my wife and I traveled to Springfield, Il.to visit The Lincoln Library. We left after work and managed to make it to Oglesby. There isn't much to do in Oglesby but the room was clean and comfortable. A nice little hotel breakfast the following morning to get us on our way. Our stay was short but we rested well and we're ready for the next day. Clean and comfortable. Quiet was a plus as its close to the interstate as well.

The hotel was clean and we had a nonsmoking room. We had to walk down a hall with smoking rooms and the nonsmoking room was at the end of the hall. The hallway smelled aweful from smoke. Our pillows smelled like smoke. We both slept poorly and woke up 28th site throats. If we had known this we wouldn't have prepaid here.

This was a great experience. Only negative was a bunch of ladies who partied until after 1 a.m. Fri. night. Breakfast was great with good variety. Rooms were clean as was whole hotel. Would stay here again if in area.

We came for a hiking weekend with friends. The hotel would have been alright if it wasn't for the smell of cigarette smoke everywhere and if they would update their mattresses. We had a non-smoking room, but there was an unpleasant smell to it. At times the hallways smelled of smoke as well. The mattresses were not terribly bad, but seemed to be quite old. I slept poorly the first night and the second night wasn't much better. The pool was nice for the kids, but it is a small pool. Hot tub was nice. Breakfast was pretty good serving eggs and sausage, waffles, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit and the coffee was actually good. However, I would return due to the odors and lack of comfortable beds.

Very accommodating. Our first room the air conditioning unit was loud and when I requested another room it was not an issue. The pool and hot tub water were cool and the engineer on duty agreed and he turned up the heat. The staff is helpful and courteous. the room was very clean, comfortable beds and quiet. Great stay and very close to Starved Rock State Park

Very easy to find, clean,comfortable, staff is very friendly & helpful as I needed a room on the first floor near the entrance for my elderly father in law who has trouble walking distances. There are restaurants near by along with gas stations. A nice small town to visit & a very scenic drive.

This hotel exceeded our expectations in the rural area of Oglesby. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was peaceful and the atmosphere was quiet in the hotel. They have a nice pool and hot tub area. The hotel was very clean and the bed comfortable. It was also very reasonably priced.

Met a friend and stayed two nights. Hotel had water pipe burst both nights but yet they handled the issue pretty smoothly. Staff was helpful. Pool area was okay. Wish it was a heated pool. Hot tub was nice though. I would stay here again.

Middle of nowhere motel but that just makes it better to me. It was quiet and clean which is really important to me. I would stay here again if ever passing through the area. Staff was very nice and professional

Made reservations through the main Best Western website (phone). Reservation for two double rooms for two nights. Talked to the reservation made sure they gave me my discount code/coupon. Received confirmation of the reservation, Everything great. Called the hotel 2 days later, just to confirm both rooms together. Hotel stated "cannot honor the coupon for the stated rate. Must pay their rate. I cancelled the reservations. Why do they put coupons on the website if they stand behind them.

Close to water park, hiking and outdoor activities. Hotel in small town which meant quiet at night. Staff was friendly and apologetic when room wasn't ready when we arrived for check in. Pool was clean and room was quiet.

Very attentive staff, small but nice pool, and the location was very convenient to a visit to Starved Rock state park. We were allowed our dogs here, and even they were comfortable on their first family vacation. Breakfast buffet was nice with biscuits and gravy, make your own waffles, bagels and cream cheese, cereal, and juice.

Best western is a great place. The amenities are clean but the pool needs a little more attention. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. I do not have a dog, but I am recommending this hotel to friends that have one because is dog friendly.

We booked 3 king bed rooms for 3 couples and were able to get them all on the first floor. Hotel is small so it was easy to get in and out from parking lot. Our room was very close to the pool which was very nice but a little too cool for me. I liked putting my feet in the hot tub. Free breakfast was very good. Scrambled egg sandwiches, make your own waffles, muffins were very good, cereal, bananas and plenty more! Free internet. Desk help was very pleasant and helpful! Easy check in and plenty of parking available. Close to the state parks. The pizza in town was close by and excellent! Too bad they didn't deliver but that was ok. We enjoyed eating it in our room with our friends. Refrigerator was handy for cold beverages.

Great hotel. Everything smooth from check in to check out. Room was very clean and smelled great. A/C units quiet. They do have a pool and hot tub but we never used those but they looked very well taken care of. The coffee is very good and breakfast was nice with a great selection and bonus biscuits and gravy. Very clean, well taken care of hotel right off main highway but very quiet. Would definitely stay again if ever in this area.

We were very satisfied with our stay. The prices was amazing. The rooms were very clean. We enjoyed the breakfast very much. We used the Jacuzzi which was very clean and the heat was perfect. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were there to go to the state parks. The hotel was within just a few minutes of them.

Although this hotel is supposedly non-smoking, it isn't... I'd suggest you hold your breath while running through the corridors, but our room was no better... You know, normally one will get used to a stench after 15 or 20 minutes. This was so bad, we not only couldn't get used to it, it actually absorbed into out clothes... When we got home and started to unpack it hit us in the face like we were still there.... This place is unhealthy and any cost. Penske truck rental is promoting a "20%" discount on Best Western rooms, but when we called the hotel, we were told that we had to book through a central booking desk to get it. We tried to book through the central booking desk, and were told that the Penske discount was only a 10% discount... (I was literally staring at the 20% off coupon). The certal booking desk told us that we would need to get the other 10% from the local manager. The only reason I'm giving this place a 2 instead of a 0 is because the Manager was accommodating with the price,

Easy access off the highway. Moderate selection of restaurants nearby which I appreciate after a day's travel. I'm too tired to want to deal with more streets, signs, decisions, and directions. The location of this hotel makes it so easy on me -- easy to get to hotel, check-in, grab a quick bite, get gas, and relax for the evening. Nice b-fast in the morning. Clean, quiet, safe. Great bed. Great night's sleep. Laundry room was a nice surprise. Lots of families making use of the pool, which was nice to see. Friendly staff. Thanks for a no-hassle night! Will definitely return.

Reserved a king size room non smoking and when I got there all they had non smoking was two queen size room. The non smoking room smelled like smoke and the shower was dirty and clogged. Bathroom was very small.

We had a pleasant stay, the room was clean and the A/C worked great. Our room was surprisingly quiet even though it faced a busy highway. The breakfast had just enough variety and the coffee was very good.

We booked this hotel while traveling on motorcycles hoping to avoid severe weather. The room rate was $130 which was high for our trip but we needed a break from the weather. Our biggest issue was the smell of smoke in the halls and our smoke-free room. It was so strong my husband had trouble with asthma related breathing issues. I only gave a 3 star because the staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was good.

I made 2 reservations here which had to be cancelled due to son being ill and in hospital. I received cancellation confirmations in email and nowhere in there did it say that I would still be charged. My credit card was still charged. I spoke to them and they said that the reservations were not able to be cancelled due to them being employee reservations. I have never had that issue with any other Best Western. Poor customer service the front desk clerk didn't even bother to look into my reservation. As a front desk employee I have never dismissed a customer without looking into their reservation to see if I could resolve the issue they had. Even if he couldn't do anything about the charge he could have still taken the time to investigate it. I will not be staying there on any future trips. I would rather pay rack rate and receive great customer service.

Front desk person acted like we were bothering him when we checked in. Asked the man for a good restaurant around the area and he said he did not know of any. No offer to help find a place to eat. Never told us how to get to the room, explain the hotels amenities and never thanked us for staying at the hotel. Rooms are clean and neat and beds are comfortable. Free breakfast is a joke....Luke warm egg patties, stale cereal, juice and coffee were empty and no-one around to refill. We ended going across the street to the pancake place for breakfast. Have stayed at this hotel before and it has really gone down hill. Most likely will not stay again.

We were very happy with the Best Western in Oglesby. The property overall was very nice and clean and the room was great. We especially liked the quiet A/C unit. The breakfast was very good too. We would stay here again and tried to on our return trip home but they were booked!

The hotel was clean but our no smoking room was a smoking room prior to our visit. It smelled like stale smoke. I was given a can of odor eliminator to use which is an aerosol spray. It sprayed a perfumed mist which did nothing except make it difficult to breathe. We kept our window open when in the room but avoided our room whenever possible. Breakfast was so-so....had to microwave the hot items to make them hot. Bagels were good.

The staff was friendly, particularly the staff making the breakfast. The hotel was clean and the pool was fantastic. There were plenty of stores and fast food nearby and several small towns within minutes drive. About 10 minutes from Starved Rock

This hotel was nothing special but it was clean and a good price. They do have a pool that I did not use and provide a free breakfast. I received a smoking room that heavily smelled like a smoking room. This was my fault for not checking or requesting non-smoking.

Have stayed here before and came back because of the friendly staff, convenient location, good complimentary breakfast and the nice pool. Beds were comfortable, room was clean with a fridge and microwave.

Room was ok. Bathroom was unclean with shower heads barely dispensing water. Air conditioner was so noisy that it kept me awake all night. Staff was not so friendly. Location was ok. Overall a not very hotel if you are paying upwards of $80 per night.

This hospital hotel had everything you could ask for; wifi, hot tub, nice pool, 24 hour coffee, hot breakfast and great location near Starved Rock Park. The front desk went out their way to meet our needs with directions to the best waterfall, late check out and letting me swim early. And FYI - the pool was not murky, and I did watch them test it. Great stay!!

This is a very nice hotel located very near Interstate 39....it is very clean and comfortable.....The staff members were all helpful and kind. There were several nice dining choices in the area.....I ate at mj's pub and grill. Breakfast at the hotel was good. The rates were modest. I got good value for my money.

I work for a hotel so I try to not be to picky, However upon arrival the girl seemed like we were bothering her and everything I asked or had questions about she seemed like we were annoying her never even smiled once. I also was trying to make sure our second reservation would be the same room as I booked the same room type and no one could give me an answer but I got every excuse as to why they couldn't pre assign it or make a note. We then got in the room and there was a dirty wash cloth in the bathroom and the rooms was overwhelmingly full of paint fumes so we let that go as stuff happens, and just cracked a window. I then called the girl for extra pillows for my boyfriends bad back and she said you can have 2. I had to have our friends order pillows just so he could have enough for his back as they give you 5 small pillows to start with. The next day before we left we put the do not disturb sign on the door AND I told the front desk multiple times please do not clean. Came back and even with the sign still on the door they went in and cleaned it. I went to the desk to ask them to help me and all they said was a manager would contact me which made me more upset. There was no sorry we'll fix this right now. Where I work we are taught to fix things right away so it doesn't get this far. Thankfully Chris the GM called and was nice enough to help us finally! But upon trying to return his call after hours the kid said he had no email and wasn't sure he could give me his bosses cell phone number. (I told him that's a security issue and I don't want it) I just wanted his voicemail then and he basically refused it and made me leave a message with him. We'll still be back as we love the area but the staff needs a tune up. I'd still recommend this hotel. But only because of the GM Chris and his offer for future rate assistance for the trouble.

Traveling through with family and was treated to great service at the front desk. Nice, clean rooms, pool and fitness room. Air conditioner is a bit loud. Breakfast was good, included hot eggs, sausage and biscuits. Easy to get to from the HWY.

Location good close to Starved Rock, Clean rooms, good breakfast. Staff was very helpful to me during my stay, the only problem was a guest was walking his dog with out leash and did not clean up after dog. I did not mention this to Best Western staff.

I was concerned when I checked in as there was a sat eve wedding party staying I did not hear them come back so no room noise or highway noise. Breakfast was a hot breakfast including sausage and premade eggs , When I was booking this was 30 dollars cheaper than inn across the street I did walk thru that lobby I didn't see any where near $30 / night of difference The staff seemed pretty good except for one check in clerk that seem to be more interested in internet than guests

Came into town for an event. This hotel is good for a stop over but it's old. Wifi doesn't work. Vending machines don't function. Came to check in. There was a sign on the desk saying"with a client. Will be back shortly." Had to wait for at least ten minutes. Tv channel changer was inked out on remote. A no frills basic hotel that needs tlc. Front desk not knowledgable about the area and told a guest there were no Catholic Churches in oglesby. I was born here and I know exactly what is in town. Also entered our room and it was very dark and un inviting so I almost did not want to turn on the lights. The drapes were drawn tight. Probably would not choose this hotel next time. But if you are looking for a budget friendly place and a short visit then it's the place to go

Change in ownership I think and the new owners don't know how to run a Motel. Tile floor in the bathroom area was sticky and the bed wa sswayback like it was old. No one to check you out at the desk, drop key in a box. Check in clerk was not friendly either.

We were looking for an inexpensive place to stay while hiking in the area. We booked a 4 night stay. The hotel was close to all the state parks we visited. The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous. Our room was clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was good. We have stayed at a different hotel in a nearby town on past visits but found this hotel to have a better price, closer to the parks and better breakfast. Will return again.

Near the highway. Not too far from Starved Rock state park. Decent breakfast. Pool and small fitness room. Lots of fast food places nearby. No bar or restaurant - so no place to get together in the evening. Showers were poor. Just an average place for a stop over.

Staff very accommodating. Hot tub nice. Rooms not updated and need updated especially the bedskirts old and mattress are not top of the line. A little disappointed. Not sure if there is anything better in the area. But not sure how this one is diamond rated. There is a lot of breakfast items coffee is the best. I was expecting a little upgrade standard.

Although not luxurious, this is a very good basic hotel. It has easy access from the interstate, good rates, pleasant staff, and an excellent breakfast, The breakfast area is clean and well-tended. The hot food is kept fresh and tasty, and provides more choices than many other Best Westerns.

Hot breakfast provided was a pleasant surprise with waffles. Very quiet hotel in a great location. The only thing found that was concerning was that the bathtubs were not slip resistant. Very slippery and a fall hazard.

It was just a one night stop on the road, but a nice one! The spa and pool were clean and comfortable - such a treat after a long day driving. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was fine. The room was comfortable. We're always happy with Best Westerns.

We were returning from wintering in Florida and sought a pet friendly mote. This Best western was tops. Clean odor-free room with nice amenities. Comfort, quiet, and close to local foods. And best of all, the staff were nice and very responsive to our needs. We will stay here again.

The hotel room and common areas were clean, pool area clean, pool super, super warm. Breakfast was nice, employees all friendly and helpful. Easy to get to from Starved Rock. Only down side was people above us were very loud until 1 am. Not the hotels fault though. I'd recommend asking for a second floor room in case there are loud people above you!!

For non-campers, a night at Best Western Oglesby was a great way to prepare for a day-hike at Starved Rock State Park! The accommodations were clean. The breakfast was tasty, but the sight of a swarm of ants on the dining table near the window was disconcerting. Nonetheless, I'd stay there again. Next time I would just skip the window seat in the dining area!

We have used this hotel several times now and have had nothing but good experiences. We travel with our dogs and despite the fact that they are extremely good animals many hotels either want ridicules fees or simply don't allow them. they have always been welcome here. Also on our most recent visit we left some things behind in the closet and the staff not only brought it to our attention but were extremely accommodating in facilitating there return.

After a day of hiking at Starved Rock, Mathiessen, or Buffalo Rock State parks, this property is very welcoming. Good showers and comfortable beds make for a good end to your day. Pool and hot tub, especially the hot tub, were a wonderful addition to the relaxing night.

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The room was very clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! I was amazed that every shift change the next staff member was even better than the one before! The pool was great and clean! I would definitely recommend this hotel!

We traveled over 2700 miles with kids and pets and stayed at Best Western hotels whenever possible. This hotel was the most accommodating for our needs, but all were wonderful. Highly recommend the Best Western chain when your family includes more then two legged children. Thank you!

Stayed here a couple of nights while visiting Starved Rock for some hiking. Friendly staff. No frills but no bad surprises either plus it's got a heated indoor pool and hot tub so that was nice. screw Flanders

Close to the off and on ramp of the freeway, clean rooms, some updating has been done. Staff was very friendly at check in and check out. Some freeway noise, but that is not real noticeable. Easy access and exit close to eating establishments and gas stations I would stay here again

We look forward to traveling this route between northern and southern states, every time planning travel around a stay at this motel in Oglesby, IL. Every visit has been pleasurable, including the swim in their very nice pool. We consider this as the best of all the motels we have stayed in.

Stayed the weekend and found the hotel staff inviting and kind. Was a good base for our photography excursion to Starved rock and vicinity. Beds were comfy air worked no bugs good basic place...don't be pur off by the bad reviews...

Our family loves Best Westerns, but this hotel is in need of renovation/upgrading. They STILL have some rooms that allow smoking--it's 2015 people. We had a comfortable night's sleep--the beds were good, and the staff was professional.

The staff was friendly, the room seemed really nice and we enjoyed breakfast but both my wife and I received numerous bed-bug bites. When we reported it to the employees, they seemed surprised, but after looking online for previous reports i found we are the 4th to report bedbugs at this location. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you can confirm that the bedbugs have been removed.

The motel was clean, and the room was clean, nicely appointed and quiet. The front desk staff was very accommodating. The location is away from a major travel center so traffic around the facility was limited mostly to guests. We ate at a nearby restaurant which was good too. Not a chain restaurant.

I hate when trip advisor has mixed reviews for a hotel. However, since there are not many hotels in this area, we decided to check it out and I did ask to see a room first. The room was clean, not new but clean. The beds were comfortable. The only negative was bathtub was a bit stained and had a very small amount of rust around the drain but it was clean. Breakfast was good. Staff was very nice. I was concerned about a few negative reviews but I would stay there again.

First off we had to have a hotel/motel that allowed dogs. So, our choices were somewhat limited in the Starved Rock area. We went with a King Bed type room. The room was fairly clean. All of the items they advertise were in the room. The bathroom could have been cleaned a bit more. Otherwise the room was good. The one bad thing was the bed. It was a bed with a frame. The bed did sag a little. Sleeping on it was bad. However, you have to keep in mind that the bed at a hotel is always a hit or miss proposition. So, for one night it was OK.

This Best Western was there when we needed a room quickly. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Wifi was great. Beds were really comfortable. Love the marshmallow pillows. Almost wanted to bring them home, but refrained.

The motel and room were very clean. The WiFi service was very good. The breakfast was great, well presented, and the breakfast items were fresh. A great value for the money. I recommended this motel to a friend.

We checked into two rooms at 4:45pm. We didn't plan on staying at the Ritz, just needed a couple clean, quiet rooms for the night (driving from Mpls to Cincy). When we walked into one of the rooms, I immediately smelled pee, which was gross. Sat down on the bed and within five minutes, four ants had crawled on me. I walked down and spoke with the manager and told him that the rooms were unacceptable. I found two rooms just over an hour down the road at the Doubletree in Bloomington, IL and was told by the manager that if we left within the next half hour, that he wouldn't charge us for the rooms. We were gone within 10 minutes. After we arrived home from our vacation 12 days later, I discovered that the manager went ahead and charged us for both rooms. Several phone calls to him and to Best Western corporate customer service resulted in him telling several lies about our departure time, a claim that he "never agreed to not charge us" and that we never informed him that we were going to check out. At one point, he yelled "don't call here again!" and hung up on me. As far as the hotel, from what I saw in my very short time there, it is dirty, smelly, the pool is murky, the walls are made of tissue paper and the staff, although incompetent, is not nearly as incompetent as the manager. If your options are either staying here or sleeping in your car with the windows open in the middle of a mosquito infested field, permeated by the stench of manure, throw a couple blankets and a pillow in your car and then thank me later.

The hotel charged me full price and I had a bathtub that was so flirty I was afraid I would get athletes foot. I showed the front desk pictures and they did nothing. The tub was filty beyond imagination ad did not happen over night.

This hotel was right along the freeway, so convenient for us. The room was clean and large. We enjoyed the hot breakfast with my husband's favorite biscuits and gravy, and the internet worked well. We'd stay here again.

Business trip to the area, only one night but we found the place tired, run down, and dirty. Coffee had been splashed on the wall in my room and dried there, who know how old it was? Walls are thin The gym was adequate but dirty towels present, no water available, and the wipes container was empty. The people were very nice though.

A quality place to stay; Great clean rooms, wonderful breakfast, caring staff, fair price. What more can I say except that 200 characters is wanted on this review. We stay here every time we are passing through.
