The complete staff are very professional, helpful and friendly. The hotel is older but very clean. The room was very comfortable and met all expectations.

Very nice place to stay. Nice people and clean rooms. Affordable! My wife and I came back to this Hotel after 25 years of being away and it held up very well. Rooms were clean to our liking. Best Western is really close to Barefoot Landing, where there is plenty of shopping and food choices. Overall, we were glad to come back, and hope to make the trip for next year!

We were given an upgrade. The accommodations were great. When checked in, we asked about a previous stay at a Best Western where we were unable to receive our points. The lady that checked us in gave us a number to call and we were able to get our rewards from that trip.

We Have been coming to this Best Western for many years... We always look so forward. Just seeing that our fav bartender Kirstent... The rooms need updating but we enjoy the pool and Kirsten so much... What a jem she is.

Best Western Ocean Sands Beach resort. When I checked in the evening supervisor was very hostile to me. The room was not what I had reserved. They put me in their annex bldg. It was 4 buildings down with no adjoining sidewalks. Breakfast and all amenities were in the main bldg. I explained I am disabled and 63 years old and I couldn't walk there. I had reserved a balcony. There was none in that bldg. I ask to be moved to any vacant room in the main bldg. The other lady working the lobby tried to assist me. The supervisor refused to allow her to help me. She said I had to take it up with hopper since I booked through them. This was Aug 28, 2026. I fought for over 4 hrs. The 29th at 7:20 am I walked to breakfast. I fell in the middle of the road trying to step back up on the curb it was 8:20 am and pouring the rain. I was never asked if I needed to go to the hospital. I was finally brought a safety kit after multiple calls. I hurt my back, my hip, elbow, knee and hand. Pictures are attached. I filled out an incident report. They said they don't have accident reports. I was booked for 3 nights and I couldn't enjoy even one. I hurt the entire time I was there. I will never return there again.

This is NOT a ‘resort'! It is a very dated worn down facility with extensive mold and shabby old walls and carpet. The mold was so bad one of our party has respiratory symptoms bad enough that we had to leave after only 1 night. There was some nasty brown residue smeared on a glass door to a back balcony. The carpet was wet and sticky, There were holes in the walls and large patches of mold on the ceiling . We went down to get a drink at the tiki bar everyone raved about that is billed to be open till 7pm only to find it closed at 530! It was overcast with intermittent light drizzle but nothing worse than the mist from ocean spray. There are no dining facilities except for a cafeteria style breakfast of sub par food. The seaside balcony with chairs was the only redeeming feature. This placed should be razed to make room for a new updated CLEAN facility. READ ALL THE REVIEWS, not just the first 4 star ratings …. On a positive note, the Front Desk staff were very nice and helpful and did not charge us for the remainder of our reservation as well as giving us a gift certificate to the bar for our anniversary that went unused as the bar was closed.

There is very limited parking on site. You have to park across the street. There is only one elevator in the building that I stayed in. No facial tissue, the phone doesn't work and there is a hole in the bathroom wall. The only thing that is saving this old place is the ocean view.

First off soon as I got here (4 pm) I was irritated by the parking. No where to park at this hotel, you do have parking across the street. Checking in is tight to fit your car at the door to check in. 10 floors with 20 spots maybe. We had to bring our luggage across the street when arriving, it was horrible. How do you expect that is enough parking for guest who stay here and you can't risk leaving or you'll lose your spot once it's passed 4 pm. You have nothing near by to walk unless you can walk 15 -20 min there. My mom has cancer and can't even get her handicap spot here much less how can she walk that far. Unlike Carolina beach you had everything right there at Marriott. Our mistake for not checking the nearby places. We should've got closer to Main Street. The bathroom is sooo tiny. The room could've been cleaned a little better. Crumbs in the floor, crumbs and dirt on the couch, hair bows in the bathroom, hair on the shower, mines blonde and so is my mom's. The room itself was nice and cold when we got here, but our beds on the 3rd floor creekkkkk, you move around and you'll wake up the person beside you. I slept ok, the bed is pretty hard and my body was sore. Let's get started on how heavy the doors are and everyone slams them so if you are asleep you are getting woken up. At least at night it does calm down, but people could be more respectful when closing their door but again it is heavy. You can hear when the sliding glass door opens too. It's nice there's a fridge and microwave. It was clean. No paper towels. Wish their was silverware provided. The bathrooms are outdated. Our bathroom door was messed up, wood is chipping away. The pools are small and the lazy river looks yellow. The pool gets packed. I did see them clean the big pool. Very cool there's a bar. The elevators are so slow, on the 3rd floor so it's either packed when it makes its way down to us. It's terrible leaving the elevator or getting on when you have the carts with luggage, you have to have someone help you with the doors. You can barely get out the doors when people are waiting to get on. You can smell people smoking on their balconies. The tv is nice, and spins. I had no problem getting channels or movies if you go to LG channels. I feel icky when I get on the elevator, or touching the doors because it's so muggy. It smells clean when you get up to your floor. I just don't think we will stay here again because of the small parking area, that in itself is so stressful that we are taking an uber to see our show and no near by restaurants to walk to unless you want ice cream or an Irish pub, we had to get DoorDash. Where do the people park when it's all full?????? The constant door slamming and the creeky beds. Also you might wanna know the water leaks constantly in the tub. The hotel building needs to be painted a new color. At least the beds were clean and you got to be on the ocean

Great hotel, and the risk bar at the swimming pool is amazing, Ms Kristen is so gentle and lovely. She has a lot of stories to tell.

This was our second time staying at the Ocean Sands BW. Our favorite amenity was the Tiki Bar by the pool. The kids could swim and play while we hung out with our new friend Kirsten! She had some great recommendations for restaurants and activities in the area. We also love being ocean front and able to enjoy the view from our balcony. The only downfalls are just structural for an older building. Small breakfast area and difficulty getting in and out of elevator with luggage because of the enclosed space. Otherwise, I think it's a great hotel and we're already looking at dates for our next stay.

How are there so many positive reviews? We nicknamed this the dirtbag resort. It's humorous to have it called a resort— it is far from it. The breakfast was bad. The room was dirty. The “daily housekeeping” was nonexistent. The general vibe of this place was trashy. Way overpriced for what you are getting. The pictures on the website are very misleading and the “all oceanfront rooms” is an outright lie. We won't be back.

Enjoyed our stay. The room was nice and very clean. The staff is friendly and will do what they can to accommodate your needs. Free breakfast on site and just steps away from having your toes in the sand.

Awsome hotel! My family has been coming to this hotel for 28 years! Our kids grew up coming here and now my grandkids! Soo many great memories! The manager Dan and his team have been like family.

My family has been coming here for 28 straight years. Hotel is very clean. Great location close to everything Myrtle beach has to offer and that's alot! Rooms are very clean!, and what a great value! We've been to other hotels but keep coming back k here! Oh and did I mention a great full course complimentary breakfast! Its like coming back and seeing family. Dan is the manager and he has the most wonderful people on his team! They never fail down to the least little things even going out of their way to open a door for you to saying good morning with a warm smile. You just cant beat this place! Just try it for yourself and you'll be coming back for years to come !

Love staying at this Best Western. It is a great location, oceanfront, and easy to head north or south to find fun things to do. Close to outlets and other great shops and restaurants. The staff is amazing and very accommodating to our needs as guests. The gym is clean and equipped. Breakfast is a must during your stay. Great choices for everyone. Front desk staff are very friendly and are great with area advice and helpful if you need anything during your stay. We are frequent patrons of this beautiful property that has 2 pools and a lazy river with a tiki bar! Enjoy your stay:)

Giant roaches in the room, old rickety elevator, toilet that barely works, bed wasn't in great shape

We truly enjoyed our stay at this BW. I had not stayed in one in years and after a terrible experience showing up to a dirty VRBO we stopped in and the staff was very accommodating, even letting us see the room before we decided. The room was VERY spacious and clean. Some aspects like the bathroom and furniture were dated. Even though the room (I think 221) was on the street side, it was not noisy and we slept great. The location is unbeatable with the ocean and beach right out the door and a great pub a quick .2 mile beach walk. They had entertainment by the pool and tiki bar playing some great beach vibes. The breakfast was like any other free hotel breakfast. I highly recommend this location. They were out of ocean view rooms since we showed up last minute, I'm sure those are even better.

Been in the area for years and this is a hidden gem I accidentally stumbled on. Cute quite and great beachy vacation drinks! Definitely recommend popping in even just off the beach for some shade and frozen drink to cool off

Mattresses were great. Loved the layout of room 917. (May want maintenance to fix sticking door) Breakfast was better than expected. Would not hesitate to return!!! Nice beachfront hotel. Location is a quiet area with restaurants near.

We had a very relaxing time at the pool, lazy river and tiki bar. The hotel staff were polite and friendly.Room was clean and comfortable. Beach was great! Enjoyed the beautiful weather and just relaxing with family.

The hotel was lovely. Check in went smooth (other than needing clearer signs of where to go). The room was spacious (King Oceanfront) and super clean. You cannot beat an oceanfront view. The bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. The bathroom was a little cramped but again, it's just a simple bathroom. We loved the Tiki Bar at the pool. Kirsten was an amazing host and the drinks were so good. The only downfall is parking. Unless you are lucky to park at the hotel you have to park across the street which is not necessarily a big deal as all was safe just wish we had known earlier.

Checking in was fast and got in our room earlier. Front desk employees were friendly and always smiling 😃.

We stayed 2 nights at the Best Western Ocean Sands Beach resort. We were in the 4 story building where you check in, in room 107. The room was sufficiently large, with 2 queen beds and a 2 seat sofa pull-out bed. There was a small fridge, microwave, 4 burner stove, and a small kitchen sink. Also a big TV and A/C. The bathroom had a toilet and a tub and shower in a separate room. There was a walkout patio that was fenced from going directly to the pool, but it had 2 chairs on it. The room (like most) is in the sun in the morning, but in the shade in the afternoon. There is an ocean view. The hotel had 2 pools (with the one in the other building being heated) and a small lazy river pool — bring your own inner tube? Our pool was maximum depth of 5 and a half feet, while the other pool was a bit shallower. The continental breakfast was good, with some hot dishes too — scambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, ham, which was served by an attendant. There was a washer on our 3rd floor for $1.50 and a dryer for $1 — which was still going on Heavy Duty after one hour (!) We would stay here again.

My wife and I have been coming here for at least the last 10 years for a number of reasons. The rooms are comfortable and always very clean with visits from the housekeeping staff on a daily basis. The beach is about a 200' walk away. The location provides easy access to highway 17 north and south for shopping, dining or travel home. All of this plus a fantastic tiki bar overseen by Kyrsten who is amazing. For those who may be traveling with children there are 2 pools and a lazy river to enjoy. Just a great place. R&L

Perfect location on the beach! Room had been recently renovated and was very clean and comfortable. 2nd floor Balcony was perfect : we had direct line of sight to the ocean. We could watch the tides rise and fall all day! There are 3 buildings in this resort. A tall tower that overlooks the outdoor pool/lazy river and part of it faces the beach. A low 2 story building that sits sideways to the beach and is 150 feet from main building. Main building has a 4 story building with only 8 rooms per floor, all of which look over salt pool and face the beach. We were in the main building, 2nd floor. Breakfast is served in main building.

Nice ocean front property in North Myrtle Beach. Close to everything you would need or expect for a beach vacation. Staff was very friendly, professional and customer service oriented. Hot breakfast each morning with nice selection of other items. A staff member serves hot breakfast items. We appreciated the additional sanitary efforts provided.

Me & my husband been coming to The Tiki bar for 5 years now this tiki bar is the best.... Kirsten runs the tiki bar she is so down to earth & very friendly,I dont drink but my husband do & I like to go down just to talk to her ...she's one of the nicest people ive met so far

I don't know where these pictures on the website are from because this was NOT our experience at all! First time staying at a Best Western and will absolutely be the last! Room was FILTHY FILTHY FILTHY! Front desk was absolutely unconcerned and unbothered. Wow and not in a good way.

Hotel needs some updating in general. Parking is a pain. Room wasn't as clean as expected. Front desk personnel could have been more attentive and friendly.

I enjoyed the ocean view, the bed was comfortable, and enjoyed having a stove, refrigerator and microwave and the breakfast was good. The tiki bar.was excellent, nice selection of drinks and the pool areas was clean. The cleaning crew.did a excellent job of cleaning the room. Parking was a plus as well.

We booked this hotel for 3 nights based on the photos, location, and the Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice 2025 badge. In hindsight, that badge created a level of trust that was completely undeserved. We checked into Room 303 on March 30, 2026, located in what appears to be the older building — and the difference between expectation and reality was immediate. The property is very old and poorly maintained, with a strong musty smell as soon as you enter. The room felt neglected — stained carpets, worn fixtures, and an overall lack of cleanliness that was hard to ignore. The bathroom was in particularly poor condition — visibly dirty and outdated, far below what any family would consider acceptable. The parking situation is disorganized which adds unnecessary frustration right from arrival. More importantly, the overall environment did not feel family-friendly or comfortable, which was a major concern for us traveling with a child. We made the decision to leave immediately after check-in, even though it meant forfeiting one night's payment. That's not something we take lightly, but staying there wasn't an option. It's also worth stating clearly: 👉 The “Travelers' Choice 2025” label is misleading in this case. Based on our experience, it does not reflect the current condition of this property. Bottom line: The photos set expectations that the hotel does not meet. If you care about cleanliness, maintenance, and a family-friendly environment, I would strongly recommend choosing a different property.

The room wasn't real big, but it was roomy enough. It was fairly updated and very clean. Beds were comfortable and we had restful 2 nights of sleep. Breakfast was adequate. Could have had more choices. It was too cold for outdoor seating and there are only 5-6 tables indoors and people had to take their food to go. The breakfast area is very small and crowded. The icing on the cake was the balcony overlooking the ocean. We felt that it balanced out the negatives: Didn't know there are 2 buildings, breakfast was in the other building and it was in the low 30s. It was very cold. The "indoor pool" is the size of an oversized hot tub and it is in a walled off section of the tiny parking garage (5 spaces) under the 9 story building. So you have to go outside to go to and from the pool. A problem when it is in the 30s. Parking is mainly in a generic unsecured parking lot across the street. But we didn't have a problem there. Overall, I believe the price speaks to the inconveniences. And I was happy to have an overfront room with a balcony for the price it was.

I chose this hotel because of the location and the reviews. The room I was given was in the “annex” building, which is 2 buildings down from where you check in. The building appears to be an old motel that BW purchased and converted. The first room I was given had a strong odor of paint or some petroleum product. They kindly moved me to another room. The room wasn't very clean and the door didn't fully close. The parking lot seemed like an alley and felt unsafe. Breakfast in the main building was good, and the location right on the beach is excellent! I wonder if my experience would have been better if my room would have been in the main building?

I highly recommend this hotel. It's in a great location and it's right on the beach. They have a very wonderful staff. All my reservations went well all the way to the time I checked in to I checked out. They have absolute wonderful breakfast and very clean rooms, they have a receptionist named Michelle, who is extremely courtesy.

Spent a long weekend in North Myrtle Beach for the St. Patrick's Day parade. Had a great time. The room was great! Any staff interaction was very pleasant and our overall stay was a 10!

This Best Western is at the beach you have to take that into consideration. A lot of the hotel is older although our room was an upper floor and upgraded? In my opinion the decor didn't match red turquoise gold taupe carpets but it was clean and it did the job. The bathroom is ridiculously small like the door hits the bathtub. Parking can be an issue make sure you know where to park there is extra. Breakfast was attended by staff very very crowded so plan on bringing your food to your room but it was good Would I go again for an average beach trip yes

The Hotel was great even though the weather did not cooperate. We stay at Ocean Sands every year in February we have had this tradition for the last 16 years. Dan and his staff always make us feel welcome every year.

Room was clean and spacious with great view. I can see why some complained about elevator being slow in summer as it took some time going from 10th floor. Breakfast was a nice added bonus, staff was friendly.

We have been bringing our baseball team to the Best Western Ocean Sands for the last several years to participate in local spring break tournaments. The staff is always extremely good to our group. The rooms are clean and a great value in a very safe environment away from the Grand Strand. The on-site included breakfast is always great and perfect for our group, Our kids love the indoor and outdoor pools, access to the beach, and the coaches appreciate the on-site laundry. This is a great value in a safe location.

Hotel was clean and the front desk and housekeeping staff were great the parking left something to be desired, the room was spacious and very comfortable, although dated was taken care of and was great, The last couple nights there were roaches crawling around quite often which was unfortunate because the rest of the experience really was a good stay, I didn't use any of the amenities except WiFi and the WiFi was pretty good for hotel WiFi, if the bug problem was fixed and a bit more parking was available this would easily be a 5 star review.

We stayed @ BWOSR 12/31/25 to 1/2/26. Wonderful start to 2026! Friendly staff!! Great beach front view. Saw fireworks.

This place is so gross. Best western couldn't care less about you or your experience. Do not stay here unless you are cool with being gaslit into believing that bugs crawling all over the place is normal.

Back at the beach and staying at the Best Western Ocean Sands hotel. I have been coming to this hotel for over 7 years and am never disappointed. The staff, hotel and proximity to the beach are all exceptional!

We greatly enjoyed the Tikki bar being open in the off season. Both of the ladies run it so well and are wonderful to chat with while having a beverage. We hope to see it continue to be open in the off season as we will visit frequently

My husband and I enjoyed another wonderful time at Best Western Ocean Sands at North Myrtle Beach, SC. The people who work here are so friendly and helpful. Such a lovely atmosphere. The location works great for us and there is not outside noise to disturb us. It is very peaceful. Very convenient. The rooms are nice and being ocean front gives us a fantastic view of the sunrise and beach and ocean. They also offer a lovely complimentary hot breakfast with different selections each morning. They are always working on keeping this place in good condition-whether it is painting, new carpeting, new drapes. We consider the value to be excellent.

This hotel was such a disappointment. It looks nothing like the photos online. The parking is TERRIBLE!! We had to drive around to two "offsite" parking areas to try to find a spot. Did not feel secure at all as anyone could just walk around to the back metal staircase and be right in the hallway outside the rooms. Rooms very old and run down. The "breakfast" was terrible, couldn't even drink the coffee. The only bright spot was Shelly at the Tiki Bar-she was fun and friendly with some great dinner and activity suggestions. Would not stay here again.

The only issue we had during our stay was in the hallway it sounded like a battery needed replaced for a smoke/fire detector. The beeping the first night was irritating but by the time we left, we got used to it. The staff was extremely friendly. You can tell ot was an older facility with stains on the living room carpet but you can tell that they're trying to keep the facilities clean. My son didn't care for the breakfast so we just ate our snacks or got fast food breakfast. All in all, if you're not looking for perfection this was just fine. For the price I paid, I would definitely stay again.

Finally felt like a guest that was actually wanted and not just a number in a computer. They seemed thrilled to have us and made sure we had everything we needed. Love that everything was so close by and falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean was amazing. Really enjoyed this stay.

Great location, nice amenities, awesome staff.. Nice pool, clean rooms and a fun little Tiki Bar with live music on certain days. This was a nice value place, we will be back next year.

My husband and I have stayed at this Best Western several times. We love it! It's always clean and neat, the front desk staff is always helpful and knowledgable and the amenities are great. It's our go-to when we are in North Myrtle OR Myrtle Beach. I'm positive we will be back either this fall or next spring.

We had not rented any place in 20 years but decided to after we sold our place. I came across Best Western and we decided to try it and boy are we glad we did. Service was great. Rooms were clean. Tiki Bar was nice. Great views of the beach. Great full breakfast every morning.

Well, I've not been in too many hotels where our room is in one building, and the office/breakfast, etc., is in another building, and most of the parking is across the street. There was only one elevator going up to our room, and for some reason, the elevator ALWAYS stops on the 2nd floor before continuing. We probably spent nearly as much time waiting for the elevator, or riding in it, as we did on the beach! Our room was just okay - nothing to write home about, at approx. $175 a night. It was a place to sleep at night after a day on the beach. The pool was good, the Tiki Bar seemed okay, and they did have an outdoor shower station. Myrtle Beach is groomed every morning, so you really don't find much for shells or sharks teeth any more. Those days are gone. On our first day, a nice man gave us his (rented) umbrella and chairs spot, because he was done for the day. We hadn't been there too long when the Public Beach Attendant came and notified us that the umbrella and chairs are NOT TRANSFERRABLE from one person to another, and she gave us a really good scolding. We told her that we'd never been there before, and she let us stay, although she was clearly upset by our actions. We spent two days there, and the next day, we paid our dues for the umbrella and chairs. It would be nice if you could just rent a spot for 1/2 day for 1/2 the price! The balcony of our room was a great spot to take in an Atlantic sunrise, which we did on the last day, and although the hotel didn't meet our expectations, the sunrise was a nice after-dinner mint. We won't stay here again!

We really enjoy the Best Western Ocean Sands at North Myrtle Beach. The staff at the front desk is always so nice to us. We absolutely love Shelly who runs the Tiki Bar by the pool.

I called a week before we were due to arrive and got the run around because supposedly it wasn't showing we had paid for our room. I told her she needed to double check. I was checking to make sure we had a handicapped accessible room as my husband is legally blind has paralyzed on the left side. I was told she could not guarantee the room even if we we paid. Should have canceled and booked with Wydham. We arrived on Sunday 9/7/25 and just looking at the place from the outside I new we were in trouble. I went inside and was told expedia did pay all but the resort fees of 95.00. In my mind I was thinking what resort. Two handicapped parking spaces and very limited parking in registration. Had to park across the street which was bad but again handicapped husband that I had to drop off and then walk by myself back to the elevator. A couple of nights we had to park in overflow that was across the street and up the hill. Very creepy walking back to hotel by myself. The overflow is soft sand and I was grateful I didn't get stuck. Only one elevator and we were waiting 5 to 6 minutes to go downstairs. The breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast. The lazy river was about 20 feet long. Pool looks bigger in the pictures. The Tiki bar and grille only had chips and hotdogs. On best western's site it say grab a freshly made hamburger at our Tiki bar and grille. When we went to our room the bathroom was horrible. My husband sat down on the toilet and it wasn't bolted down and it tipped over with him. Toilet is running constantly. Called the front desk and they said they would fix it tomorrow. The shower curtain rod is installed wrong and can't close the curtain. The sink plug is supposed to work with a rod and it was sitting on the sink broke. No hot water in the shower but plenty in the sink. Called the front desk and the only thing they fixed was the toilet. They bolted it to the ground. Also called corporate and they wasn't concerned about it. Started to go out running around the next day and my husband asked the office if they were going to fix our issues. He looked and nothing had been reported. He got a maintenance man to bolt down the toilet. The only good thing about this place is the staff seem very nice except for the red headed lady that checked us in. She didn't seem very helpful and the fact that she didn't write a work order tells me she needs to find another job. Overall the best part is you are next to the ocean. Not sure why resort fees were charged. Nothing resembling a resort. If you are running all day long and you don't have disabilities it will work for you. Definitely not resort worthy. Won't stay here again and would rename it to Worst Western Beach Dump.

My wife and I have been coming here for 12 years. We love staying here! As soon as we walk in the door we are greeted by the friendly staff at the front desk. Dan and his staff always take good care of us. The breakfast is wonderful, the hotel rooms are clean and fresh, it is walking distance from the beach. We love the atmosphere and friendly service at the Tiki bar . Shelly is our absolute favorite person here! She gives good dinner recommendations and makes great drinks. We will be back next year for sure!

So checked in and read the reviews prior so I kind expected it to be outdated but still expected it to be clean due to the previous reviews. Balcony doors and patio and door seal could use some cleaning and definitely some updating. Sheets on the bed are stained upon arrival. Found some 🪳🪳in the bathroom after Turning on the lights climbing up the wall. Definitely was fooled by the reviews. Will not be back. Be aware.!!!

Come here every year. This year came for our 55th Anniversary! Best North Myrtle Beach OCEANFRONT rooms that are reasonably priced. Beautiful sunrises. Pool indoor/outdoor. Very small lazy river, cute for kids. Tiki Bar with a great bartender, Shelly, entertaining and fun. She makes you feel welcome and makes you feel like Vacation has begun! Also, makes good refreshing drinks. Highly recommended!

Stayed 15-18 Jul 2025. Hotel looked nothing like the photos online. The room was dirty, cabinet door below oven was falling off, pots cabinet had bugs inside, mold on ceiling, balcony door rails were corroded, drapes were dirty and spotted, floor had food and dirt on it, lamp was dirty and spotted, bathroom door dirty, frame and baseboards cracked and dirty, phone dirty and not working, some outlets did not work, elevator did not work well. My spouse had to use the stairs to go down to complain to staff and he fell bc steps were painted black and he could not see last step in the dark . He scraped his knee badly. The desk gave him a small bandaid . I wanted to leave and find another hotel but we had 2 family events to attend and did not have spare time to look for another hotel. The pool was also dirty with scummy looking grey water. We gave all our concerns to staff on 16/17 Jul. they said they would be given to the manager. No response. Once home we contacted hotel to again to address the problems but they only offered 50 to 100 back but we had paid $800 plus and did not think that was appropriate considering the condition of the room. We called BW corp and they said they would talk to hotel. They told us the manager said the cabinet was just fine and did not even mention other problems! We contacted Hotels.com next. They called hotel and told us they could do nothing regarding a refund by the hotel either. We sent photos to hotel, BW corp and Hotels.com to support our claims. Nothing. Done. Would not want anyone else to have an experience like ours!

Our stay was wonderful! Beautiful view very very clean room! Breakfast was great! Pools were wonderful and so close to beach! Loved sitting on our balcony watching the waves! Parking sometimes was difficult to find up close to hotel. There was plenty it was just a little walk.

I am on my last day here and am enjoying the pool and lazy river with only just a few steps til you are on the beach! It's so nice to also have a Tiki Bar that you can have a drink or light snack without having to go back up to the room. Shelly is so friendly at the bar, my family enjoyed that. Waking up to being able to go to the Lobby for a wonderful breakfast every morning with super nice ladies and also the cleaning ladies provided ample enough towels, washclothes, etc everyday. I recommend anyone to come to North Myrtle Beach and stay at the Best Western Ocean Sands you will not be disappointed!!! We will definitely be coming back here.

I'm not usually one to write reviews, but after what my 4-year-old daughter and I experienced at Best Western Ocean Sands in Myrtle Beach, I feel compelled to share our experience. What we encountered was far below the cleanliness, safety, and hospitality standards that were advertised or expected from a major hotel brand. Upon check-in, the first room we were assigned had heavily stained carpet and what appeared to be pest debris. I immediately asked to be moved. The second room, unfortunately, raised even more concerns. In our short time there (we left within 13 hours), we observed the following: Curtains with what looked like visible mold or soot stains Rusted outlets and chipped paint inside the room A visibly stained toilet base and grime around bathroom fixtures Worn-out carpet and dirty baseboards that appeared not to have been thoroughly cleaned in some time As a parent traveling with a young child, I felt increasingly uncomfortable staying in an environment that felt unclean and potentially unsafe. The advertised “hot breakfast” also didn't meet expectations. I observed staff heating food in plastic bowls using the microwave, which left me questioning food safety protocols. Additionally, the posted elevator inspection permit was last dated 2022, which gave me pause regarding up-to-date safety compliance. After expressing my concerns and sharing photos with the hotel, a partial refund was issued. However, given the short length of our stay and the overall conditions, I felt a full refund would have been appropriate. Unfortunately, this request was denied. While every traveler's experience may differ, I personally cannot recommend this property based on what I encountered. I hope this review helps others make informed decisions, and I sincerely hope the hotel addresses these concerns moving forward. Such a sad start to our vacation.

Love staying here! Rooms are spacey and clean. Love all the staff, they make us feel at home and are quick to address anything we may need or have a concern with. They have several parking lots for their properties. Love the pools and lazy river, especially the Tiki Bar with their wonderful, friendly bartenders. Breakfast is full of many choices and they supply fruited water along with coffee all day for your convenience. My family has been staying at this property for over 40 years, it feels like home!

Our family had such a great time at Best Western Ocean Sands Resort. It is located right on the beach and is walking distance to the beach and other waterfront local restaurants and bars. I recommend walking down to Molly Darcys and having lunch on the back deck. The place was perfect for our family getaway—family-friendly for the younger kids, linens were comfy and light-weight. They were not scratchy or too thick. The view of the ocean from our room was amazing. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony at night and listening to the waves from the ocean. We also loved the restaurant downstairs—great variety of food and drinks, something for everyone. Each day we stopped by the It was quick to go downstairs, grab lunch, and then hit the beach or pool. I would def take my family there again for a long weekend.

We have been coming here for almost 16 years. The staff is amazing! It is always immaculate, the breakfast is wonderful, and there are no high rises next to the building, so the beach in front is more open. We have stayed in the smaller rooms, the large 3 bdrm penthouse, and the Queen suites. You cannot go wrong booking here!!

Let me tell you about one of the greatest weeks ever. You wake up in the morning and you open the curtains and you see the ocean. You know it doesn't get much better than that. Until you go over to the continental breakfast with so many options that is impossible to walk away hungry. But wait there's more than you walk outside on your way to the beach and you have to stop at the tiki bar and see Shelly and get one of her amazing frozen drinks.

I just met Shelley who works in the tiki bar, and I gotta tell you, she is one of the nicest people I've met here. Everyone is very nice, but Shelley made an extra effort. She will make your trip very memorabke if you stay here. I wish we had a bartender like her back where I live.

Located in north Myrtle Beach, this Best Western was conveniently located. We wanted a beachfront hotel away from the busier part of the beach (which caters more to families with children; rides and concessions) and the facility did not disappoint. Checking in and checking out was smooth. Staff were friendly and efficient. The room was clean and comfortable. Parking under the building is limited but there are two spacious lots across the street. We plan to return soon.

Great trip to look at houses to buy, Staff was very nice and helpful,outside pool bar excellent lot of fun in the sun. Room was very clean and bed and pillows very comfortable. Close to all amenities and main drag but far enough so you did t hear noise only the sounds of the ocean.

We had an alarm (not smoke detector) going off all night long. The beeping was on a cycle, every 10 minutes and going down to every 10 seconds, ALL NIGHT LONG! Maintenance was unable to fix it and suggested we cover it with a towel to muffle the sound. The next day we again checked with the front desk about repairs. Maintenance again was not able to fix the problem and, at our suggestion, the alarm was taken off the wall. No offer of a different room no apologies, no compensation, not even an offer of a free drink at the tiki bar.

We switch hotels, and found this best western they have 3 different pools to choose from very quiet very family oriented and a plus is they have a great tiki bar outside that you can sit and enjoy yourself or with your loved ones I had the best experience with Shelly she was so sweet and I felt like she was apart of the family so sweet would highly recommend.

It was a rough start. We arrived prior to check in, after driving all night, but Tammy at the front desk took very good care of us and we were able to get into our room early. Kirsten, in the Tiki Bar, was exceptional. We enjoyed our time chatting with her while she was still able to continue to take care of the very busy bar. We had a wonderful stay and the weather was gorgeous!! We'll be back for sure!

Hello from tiki paradise. One of our favorite places to visit is located at Best Western, Ocean Blvd, N. Myrtle. Hidden in the back is a happy little place that is a must visit. The Tiki Bar. Shelley is amazing with her bright smile, beautiful eyes and her knack for creating a liquid paradise. Obviously the foundation is Pina Colados but If you love rum, look no further as Shelley is n artist and creative with her fine selection. Happiness is always on display the jukebox pleases the soul. Tiki bar and shelley is our go to spot when in town. Thank you Shelley and crew. Always a smile on our faces. Adam and Angela

We love this little beach front bar area. Easy access for the beach, drinks, snacks, etc. We have a large family & Shelly always does a great job handling our chaos! And by chaos, I mean a minimum of 10 kids at a time. Definitely a place to relax, get some sun, & family time in.

Check in staff was friendly and inviting, rooms are remodeled. Free Breakfast. I didn't have a reservation and the staff were helpful and got me into a room right away. The Tiki Bartender Shelly is so friendly. She made delicious drinks gave us tips and shared information an activities going on for the weekend. Shelly made us feel welcome!

Just after 6 am, smoke detector started double chirping every 30 seconds. Called front desk and after ringing for quite some time, it was answered and the man stated he was in the middle of trying to get breakfast ready and as soon as maintenance came in he would try to send them up. It was over an hour before maintenance came and replaced the detector. So we and any rooms occupied near us had to listen to the high-pitched chirping every 30 seconds for over an hour. A/C unit in room tapped randomly all night so much that my daughter moved to the couch in the front of the suite to get some sleep - only to be woken at 6 am. BW concierge text service took over 12 hours to respond so don't count on that text service. Did tell front desk about our issues and they said sorry that happened. Considering it is off season would have expected a quicker response. Older hotel showing signs of wear, but the hotel is right on the beach and the breakfast was good. Parking was also very accessible.

Our ocean front balcony room is perfect to see and hear the ocean and give a little protection from the wind to soak up sun in the morning. Coming from Pennsylvania where it is 22 degrees, 50's, 60's and 70's feels like just what the doctor ordered. This morning we had free hot breakfast of good coffee, eggs, bacon and sausage gravy and biscuits. Currently sitting at the tiki bar where Shelly the bartender served me up a peach Pina Colada frozen drink. She is open noon to 5 daily starting next week. Everyone has been friendly and helpful, love this place!

On a week long no destination vacation we found this gem on the beach. We had no reservation was able to get a room with no problem. When we opened the room door we could see that we had gotten an ocean view room with balcony! The room we had also had a small kitchenette, stove, cook ware and table ware included. We enjoyed it so well we stayed an extra night. The hotel was well cleaned. And don't forget to get breakfast, most of it is self serve but the other items someone serves you, you can still get as much as you like. Make sure to get the sausage gravy and biscuits.

The folks at BW Ocean Sands are always extremely welcoming upon arrival and take the time to thank us for being Diamond members. They are always accommodating on the rare occasion that there is an issue. The updates to the facility, though not complete have really made a difference in the appearance of the property and the breakfast service is consistently outstanding.

My mom and I stayed here for one night and I was very pleased with this hotel. Our room had two queens and was very spacious. We overlooked the pool and the ocean which was nice (even though it was February!) Beds are very comfortable with nice pillows (one thing I love about BW properties) and the breakfast was phenomenal. Many hot offerings which I didn't expect. Very little parking at the actual building but plenty across the street. Staff was very sweet and accommodating. I'd stay here again if I was in the area. Was also a great value for the money!

New Years Eve was wonderful. Staff was friendly as always. I absolutely love the new flooring! This is the our go to place. You can always count on a relaxing stay. Room is clean food is hot and good. All staff members have been welcoming and accomodating. My favorite place. I try to bring them treats when I visit!!!

The people are who work there are wonderful.. the place is a great location on beach. The beds and bedding are great. Place is always clean. The only negative would be the water pressure and I would recommend bring your own cooking (if you want to do that stuff) with you.

The staff asked if everything was satisfactory and if anything was needed....how refreshing since Covid has changed the hotel industry. Went to the Best Western Ocean Sands for a winter getaway. First time we have gone to the beach this late in the year. Our room was clean, had a great ocean view and was a good price. The entire staff was pleasant and friendly. They were very helpful with suggestions on where to eat and visit during our visit.

Nice, clean and comfy beds. Great breakfast. We enjoyed beautiful and stunning moonlight, ocean and sunrise from our room and balcony. Very friendly and humble staffs and folks with their amazing Southern hospitality. My husband and I created a very fond memory here and will come back again in the future.

My husband and I had another great stay at this Best Western. The price is affordable. The staff are very nice. The rooms are big and clean. We love the oceanfront, and I love the balcony! We stay in the main building on the top floor, 4th. I'm not a breakfast person, but I went down two mornings and got breakfast to take back to the room. It was really good! I had sausage patties and a western omelet! We had a problem with our mattress. We talked with the staff the next morning, and in less than one hour, we had a brand new Seally mattress!! Talk about customer service! All the staff were super nice and helpful. We enjoyed talking with Janie, who has been there for 40 years! Our check-in and check-out went smoothly. Thank you, Michelle and Tammy! We plan on seeing y'all next year!!

Awesome place and very clean, the bartender Kiersten was amazing as well, will definitely be going back. The staff was wonderful and helpful also very nice and polite, had no issues at all. Breakfast every morning seemed fresh and good as well. Would recommend to anyone.

This is my 7th year coming fo this resort! It is very nice . The staff is outstanding! The rooms are very clean and updated. My favorite part of staying here is the breakfast and the friendly staff. Kirsten and Shelly at the tiki bar are wonderful! The view is absolutely amazing. Earl at night is very helpful and my boyfriend really likes him. Thank you for the awesome place!

We stayed at the Ocean Sands for the first time and really enjoyed our time there. The staff were kind and helpful. The room was great. We reserved a king bed room and were upgraded to a larger room. It was very nice. The bed was very comfortable. Parking was a little confusing on the first day but we got it figured out after that and always were able to park close to our room. We will definitely stay again.

Pictures are VERY deceiving…place is a dump. Resort fee? OMG. Parking is only available across street..not safe. People smoking all over the property and it leaches into room. Couldn't get hot water to shower. no shampoo. I booked non refundable so ……

Very good service from the check in on Sunday afternoon, Woman at front desk was extremely nice and helpful. Room (513) was bright and clean With a beautiful view. Breakfast was very good everyday of our stay, coffee was very good, nice selection of hot items different each morning. Biscuits and gravy everyday. Tiki bar was nice and the bartenders were wonderful ! Fun place to hang out while we were here for work. Will definitely come back and stay here again ! Rich Wyatt

I had a wonderful experience here at the Best Western. Was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful breakfast every morning with great coffee. And every evening me and the rest of my party would come down to the pool side bar and we met a fantastic bartender Shelly. She was very polite and and friendly. The rooms were excellent and the view was beautiful. Very hospitable house keeping and very polite! Breakfast was very good and portions were generous. Beach was awesome and quiet. The little poolside tiki bar was so cool! And our bartender Shelley was the best. Definitely coming back here soon!!!

The pictures online are not an accurate description of the hotel. This is a worn out hotel that needs renovating. The front desk staff was very nice. The beds were comfortable and to our surprise, they had a really good breakfast. For future travel, would probably look at other hotels in the area

Great beach views with only a short walk to the water! Small lazy river but it does the job. My family and I loved getting afternoon drinks at the Tiki bar. Shelly, the bar tender, was very friendly and inviting all while waiting on several guests at one time. One of the better bartenders I had in a while! Thanks Shelly for the great service and drinks!

The Tiki Bar Bartender Shelly was very friendly and attentive. She welcomed us when we arrived at the pool and made our drinks quickly. Our room is clean and the bed is comfortable. The view from our balcony is amazing. Would recommend to others and will possibly be booking in the spring to kick off my summer break from school.

The location is great, breakfast was very good, staff were very friendly but the hotel really needs updates. The kitchen smelled like cat urine, water pressure was nonexistent in the sink, you had to hold down the handle on the toilet for 30 seconds to get it to flush, the shower had no shelf to put soap or shampoo on, everything is very old. I would not return unless they do major renovations.

Our stay was wonderful, everyone was so helpful on places to eat and things to do. The tiki bar was awesome and Shelly the bartender is the best! ?❤️ She made us feel like family. The beach is close by and not a far walk at all. If you have anyone who has autoimmune disease like celiac, they are wonderful with being mindful of that to make sure you're safe. Also if you have anyone with disabilities, they try to accommodate the best that they can.

We've made multiple trips here, and have had a wonderful time, each time better than the last ! Everything has been perfect each time. Close to everything, the beach included. Shelly at the tiki bar makes the best drinks, and has an absolutely wonderful personality?

Shelly at the Tiki Bar was really friendly and greeted our family as soon as we walked into the pool area. She was a lot of fun and even made our 3 year old daughter feel included with a virgin strawberry daiquiri. This was the best part of our trip - thank you, Shelly! We will definitely be back!

The Good: Tiki Bar, Free Breakfast, Lazy River, Staff was Nice The Bad: Room 306 was Dirty, came back from Dinner there was a Cockroach on my Bed, Luckily I was able to kill it, but Couldn't sleep well the rest of the trip worrying about Bugs. Shower had no shelves to put accessories, wouldn't recommend staying at this Hotel!

Our family has been coming to Ocean Sands for many years and is one of our favorite places to come. The rooms are clean, breakfast is delicious, and Shelly at the tiki bar is amazing! The views are amazing and we will continue to come back year after year!

Very relaxing. I loved that I could lay in bed and see the ocean!! The tiki bar was nice and it gave us something to do without having to leave the hotel. Everything was very convenient and all the employees were friendly and helpful.

The Beds where very comfortable,the motel was clean,Breakfast was good and everyone was very friendly,But the best part about the whole experience was the Tiki bar and Kirsten the bar tender was the best I enjoyed the drink and she was very friendly ,and when she gets busy she never looses her cool and handles her self well,enjoyed her company,she is a people person,nice lady,and will comeback to visit her,thank you for the wonder full night Kirsten.

Spaces not out in the open were not cleaned from previous guests. Space behind murphy bed was dirty and empty drink bottles were under the bed. The housekeepers need to a better job. Disappointed in cleanliness but room was large and comfortable. Liked the pool and lazy river. Expected more from a Best Western.

Nice hotel. Great beach access. Shelly at the Tiki bar was fabulous. Breakfast was also good. It's made up of 3 different hotel areas within a reasonable walking distance. I will ask for main building next time as my husband is disabled and uses a mobility scooter. Beach was awesome with white soft sand. Water was warm and really nice. Definitely coming back to this area!!

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in 2024. Clean environment and close to many restaurants and fun activities for the family. Nice facilities and excellent pool and outdoor area. The Tiki bar by the pool is great! Bartender Shelly is top notch!

3 years and counting returning to the hotel. The rooms are always clean, a little retro but roomy with great ocean views. The lazy river is always pleasant and open late to enjoy the ocean and the moon. The pool is lovely, and the best part is the tiki bar. Shelly is my favorite bar tender, with fantastic energy and the magic touch for drinks. We return just for her! What a blessing she is.

It's lovely! Beach is very accessible from the rooms, and there's also a pool and a tiki bar. The bartender, Shelly, is awesome! There is a lazy river too, which I really enjoyed. Parking can be a little bit of a challenge, but not overwhelmingly so.

The room was dirty. Totally not the same as website. Phone didn't work. Air conditioning only cooled on one side of room. Only one tv worked. Kitchenette had hair on stove handle. Drapes were marked with black stripe mold on lamp shade. Need I say more very unsatisfied.

The lobby was dirty at check-in I guess that should have been our first clue. When we open the door to our room it smelled funky and the microwave coffee pot area smells like mold and mildew. The drapes were dirty and the bottom side had black on them like mold or something. The hotel in general was loud from people slamming doors at all hours and then the hotel housekeeping crew would come in around 9:00 and start yelling back and forth down the Halls at each other that was very unprofessional as well. Our hotel door had no weather stripping so you could see through the sides in the bottom to the outside of the building. There was no soundproofing as you could hear the patio sliding doors opening and shutting. They had breakfast every day but it isn't a Serve Yourself for the hot items they serve them for you and put them in a to go container and very small portions. The only day we tried it they ran out of eggs about 45 minutes prior to breakfast being over and they weren't planning to make any more so they took that off the menu. Our housekeeper didn't mop our room the whole week we were there and even though we tried to be careful and not bringing sand or dirt our feet and socks were filthy. The TV sliding glass door and windows of the room on the balcony look like they had never been cleaned. Stay somewhere cleaner safer and quieter!

Am sorry to say, but have mixed feelings about this place. Pros - had executive suite room at end of hall - great views (one side the street, the other side the ocean) & was very spacious. Great beach location. Friendly staff. Lots of shelf space in the shower. Nice kitchenette which provided more space to store stuff, & use if you want to. A/C worked great. Nice balcony w/ 2 chairs on it. Cons - slow elevator, outdated, small bathroom, parking hassles, & the breakfast. To elaborate - parking - almost no where to park if came back to hotel later at night. Breakfast - sorry, but worst breakfast at a hotel ever. The staff served you, so was a long line, & the choices didn't taste too good. The apple juice was very blah. Very cramped in the food area, but if not raining, can sit out on patio. 2 days there was no milk in pitcher. Again, loved the room - if you want to stay here & have more than 4 people in your family or group, request an executive suite room - we had 5 people, but 8 could sleep in this room (2 queens, sofa sleeper, & murphy bed). Didn't love the parking & breakfast. Overall, had a great time, but next time would spend more for a nicer hotel w/ no breakfast, since hardly ate anything here anyway. Also, the beach access is thick sand that's hard to walk through, where I noticed other hotels had nice boardwalks to get to the beach.

The hotel is right on the beach which is #1 for me. Complimentary parking and a typical continental with waffles breakfast was available. We were assigned to the tenth floor penthouse suite which was very spacious and could have held at least two more couples. The small balcony overlooked the beach and ocean. The front desk employees were very helpful with local information. We were very pleased with our stay and would return. Note: The rooms are dated but for everything mentioned above, that did not bother us at all.

The room wasn't ready at 430 then we were given a handicapped room not what we booked and were charged twice. It was dirty and the a c wouldn't work. We did not feel comfortable at all in this room and we are typically easy to please. Do not recommend!

We love staying at this hotel for the past three years, but this year was not as loving. Struggled with housekeeping the first two days, but after that, they were very polite and checked on the room daily. Disappointed that there was no hot tub this year. I feel that towards the end of the week the breakfast got boring suggest a different flavor, waffle or something to keep it fresh for those staying a week at a time, the front desk and the GM of the hotel, very polite people and do everything they can to address guest concerns. Our biggest downfall this year was the bartender Kristen. She came across rude and unwelcoming to make anything that was not on the menu which could use an updating as well, the bartender Shelly was fantastic and we enjoyed spending most of our afternoons throughout the week with her at the bar. The room had some stains on the carpet and the GM did know that they were going to try to get those taken care of does have a field compared to neighboring properties, they did say they are going to be doing more renovations so I hope to see pictures of those before deciding if booking for next year

This was our first time staying at this hotel and we were very pleased with our stay. The property is clean and well maintained and our clean comfortable room had a great oceanfront view. All the front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating as was Mary in housekeeping. We already booked again for next year.

This was our 4th time staying here in 3 years and it was just fantastic! Manager Dan Cortese takes pride in taking care of his guests. Mary from housekeeping was very attentive and always greeted with a smile. Hotel was very clean and well maintained with recent renovations to the pool area and guest rooms. No issues at all during our last 4 stays here, always a pleasure staying here at the Ocean Sands. Breakfast was pretty good too.

The hotel staff were very helpful. They allowed us to precheck in so we could enjoy the day on the bbeach and called when our room was ready. Their breakfast buffet was very good with a different hot menu each day. I was impressed that the pool and lazy river was cleaned thoroughly each morning.

This hotel provided great value for AWESOME location, friendly & helpful staff who ALL WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND, a very good free breakfast with GREAT service, fun pools/lazy river/tiki bar, and a clean room! The only suggestion I have, truly, is to update the rooms….paint/bedding/curtains/lamps as they are obviously outdated. The room was definitely clean, but some outdated features just can't be cleaned - they need replaced/updated. With that being said…..I would definitely stay here again, hands down.

The room was small and the bathroom was really small with no shower door or curtain so water got everywhere.

The view was amazing and the free breakfast was great too lots to choose from the only issue was the beds were uncomfortable but otherwise it was a great trip

This was the best place we have ever stayed at in Myrtle Beach. The amenities were everything you could ever need traveling as a family. Our room was marvolus and super clean and updated. Every staff member we encountered during our couple day stay was personable and friendly. There is always a manager on staff that even called our room to make sure we were satisfied with the room and asked if there was anything we needed. The room had a book of everything go do in Myrtle beach with coupons for some things to do. The view was perfect from the balcony and a short walk to the beach. A life guard was located right were we walked out on the beach which made us feel safer with children. We will always be coming back to this specific place to stay when we come back.

This is not a resort as advertised! You'd be better off, sleeping outside on the beach than paying for unacceptable, accommodations! My husband and I were totally disgusted!

The stay was OK2. The A/C was having a hard time keeping the room below 80 degrees, which was hot and humid.The room door lock was not working properly but the staff was on top of getting it fixed. The walk to the beach was short. Beach was great, but crowded by Friday. Staff needs to be a little more responsive and friendly. One person there doesn't seem to like their job.

Good stay for good value. Beds were a bit hard but our suite had an additional wall Murphy bed in which my teenager loved. Breakfast was only until 10 am and was a little weak. Suite had a bathroom and a small kitchen with full size refrigerator. Great for leftovers from a restaurant or milk and cereal in the morning. Location was great with everything just down the road. Parking was easy just across the street and dedicated to the hotel.

Reservations not as promised. 1 day Oceanview and 6 days not. We stayed 1 night and canceled the remaining days. Dated hotel exterior, difficult to open patio door. Elevator not working. Carried luggage up 4 flights at age 72. Employees friendly. Beach very nice.

It is t iin a great location. It is an older hotel but great for the price. Hcp scooters and parking needs to easier to get around. with that said i will stay there again.

Stayed here 2 weeks ago with my wife and 2 children. Proximity to the beach was really great, but the hotel's location was a bit sketchy. We had a hard time finding parking when we arrived and ended up in a dirt lot temporarily. The hotel itself is pretty worn, as were the rooms. I don't know if this is the common layout of the room, but the 2 beds were separated by the bathroom and you could not see the other bed which made things awkward for conversation. Breakfast was ok, but not a ton of choices. There was a long line for the hot food which was scooped up into a bowl by 1 employee. Unfortunately, our trip was soured by my wife waking up to a bug crawling on her. We notified the front desk and were told we would hear back after the room was inspected. We also contacted the corporate office to make sure the hotel actually followed through. Corporate told us that the room was inspected and nothing was found, but that the manager would follow up with the inspection report. The hotel never once followed back up.

Our stay was very enjoyable and so relaxing. We took advantage of all the amenities offered. The Tiki Bar with Shelly was so nice, she is very personable and likes to serve her guest with excellence. Jennifer that served a hot breakfast every morning was courteous and always served with a smile and was very helpful. We will be returning, and I think this will now be "the place" to stay when we visit Myrtle Beach in the future. Our room on the 6th floor was very clean and smelled so fresh. Beds were clean, bathroom was clean and the kitchenette was all in working order. The room stayed cool even on the hot days. We have stayed at several other resorts but truly like this one on the North end of Myrtle Beach. Thank you again for all you do for your guest.

I'd never stay here again. For $200 a night, I'd expect the toilet to be bolted to the wall, and for the deck to the outside to have a lock on it. Room were clean, but hallways and stairways were cluttered with debris. We had to lean a shoulder into the door to get it open. Never again.

Do your research, know that this is an older hotel so lower some of your expectations. The two queen beds we had were comfortable. The murphy bed and pull out sofa bed were as expected and clearly very old. Most people will find the breakfast satisfactory. It changes slightly every day and the hot food, eggs, etc., are plated by staff and a tip jar is available for them. There are a lot of pre-packaged food choices, but apples and bananas and oranges were in a bowl as well. The location is great, the view is lovely, the staff is friendly. If you are looking for a pristine hotel then this is not for you. It is fine, it needs a refresh, and the one elevator is kind of a drag. Most of the parking is across the street which isn't a huge deal, just be aware. If there is an event, such as a motorcycle rally, you will hear the street sounds very well. Beach chairs and umbrellas can be rented and banana boat rides and parasailing rides are less than a five minute walk down the beach. We had a fruit fly issue the first day and they did pour bleach down the drains to kill the bulk of them. I saw no other bugs until the night we left and there was a very health roach on the balcony. I saw none in the room. This is an is what it is situation where you have to know the trade-offs. The price and location and staff are all excellent, the breakfast is acceptable and many people will love it. There are two heated pools and one saltwater pool and they were all very clean. The tiki bar by the pools was a nice touch. Just don't book it expecting the Ritz.

Checking in was difficult because there was nowhere to park. My partner had to let me out at the road to check in because he drives a truck and there was no room. In my opinion general parking was tight. The building we stayed in only had one elevator so it was frustrating getting in and out of the building. The room was decent and the view was great. The first night we were there the hot water was out and didn't come back on until the next day. Also, it seemed like the air conditioner couldn't effectively cool the whole room so it was kinda warm in the bathroom area. I was just disappointed in the experience considering how much was paid for the room.

We were there for bike week, no issues with our room, it was clean and comfortable, everything was in working order, easy check in and check out.

The positive: great view, free drink tickets to Tiki bar. The negative: old building, dingy room which was missing light bulb, stove did not work, in-room phone did not wirk, no shower curtain.

Pleasant desk and serving staff at breakfast, clean room, plentiful hot water, fabulous bed - gorgeous view of the beach from our 5th floor tower room. We truly enjoyed our balcony time too! Do not hesitate to book a room in the tower building at this hotel - it's a wonderful value for a clean and pleasant hotel with a fabulous view - right on the ocean - it's steps away!

Shelley at the tiki bar and the amazing beach access make this a great spot! The rooms aren't fancy and the beds are the reason I reduced one star but Shelley at the tiki bar is the best and there's a great pool space and 20 seconds to the beach!

This was our first time at this hotel, and we would definitely stay here again. Probably the nicest and most helpful staff we've ever encountered at a hotel. The only negative was that parking was limited and a bit challenging. It worked for us - but we were not there during peak season.

Zero complaints. Ocean front, excellent staff, updated clean rooms, great breakfast, awesome Tiki bar, clean pool, all kinds of food and things to do around it. I have never had one bad stay at this hotel and I stay at a lot of hotels across the east coast. Great for a relaxing evening after a day of hard work or bringing the wife and kids on vacation.

An example of a well- managed and maintained ocean front property is what we experienced at Ocean Sands Best Western. We felt comfortable, the room was clean and accommodating, and the staff are very friendly and well trained to make sure you have a great experience. We appreciated the hot breakfasts and will definitely make reservations here again to enjoy the ocean waves and family environment and great value this hotel provides.

I have been at Best Western at different locations and had no issues. However, I will not be at this location again. For 2 nights, I had a very bad burning smell when turning on the Heat. When I reported, they did not do anything to help. not even move to a new room. I went the next day and spoke to one of the manager (Janeika) to see if the can refund at least one of the nights, She said she will have to discuss with other managers and get back to me. She never did. When I get home, I received the statement with refund of $25. I called back to speak to a manager, but were on vacation. I left a note to call me back; they never did. I called back and spoke to Dan and asked for refund at least a night since they could not move me to a new room because the heat smell issue. He says it is not a Best Western policy to refund a night, and all they can do is $25. I paid for a room where I expected everything to be working the way the should; it wasn't.

The bed is so comfortable. Pillows are fluffy. Very quiet hotel. Breakfast consists of various juices, scrambled eggs, bacon , biscuits and gravy. Staff isn't all that nice but it's ok I didn't interact with them because of it. But all in all the tiki bar is fun. They play music till 6 pm. A lot of NON guests show up for the pool making it hard for some paying guests to find seats

The bed was great. That's where anything positive stops. We were put in the annex which is a separate bldg from the main. It was awful. Old, run down, small room, tiny bathroom with tiny sink/vanity- faucet allows no room for hands, washcloth rinse, etc. A/C was loud and inefficient, deadbolt didn't work, paint was peeling on doors, baseboards were dirty. Bldg is old- basically lipstick on a pig.

While certainly not sparkling brand new, this ocean/ beachfront hotel is a Great Value. The staff here is Great! For MB beachfront it's perfect size rooms for couples vs. the bigger multi bedroom condos. This was our fourth time here and we'll be back.

Room was clean. Hotel is older and needs some updating. Afraid to use elevator! Pillows were musty and there was a lot of rust on appliances in room including the lamp shade. Water was hot, but pressure was poor. Toilets did not flush well. Breakfast was average. Staff was very nice! Highlight of the stay!!

My husband and I took a quick trip to Myrtle Beach for a concert at The Alabama Theater and we stayed here. Prices were very reasonable for Oceanfront. The employees at the front desk were very friendly and helpful, the room was wonderful, the pillows and bed were very comfortable and the view of course was awesome. The Tiki bar at the pool served great drinks and the server was very friendly. Parking is a bit ehhh.... but I feel like that's most places in MB.

It's the perfect beach hotel, and a comfortable stay every time (I've been visiting at least twice a year for the last 5 years). The staff is wonderfully accommodating and friendly, and the location can't be beat! Nothing fancy--although the rooms are getting renovated, even as we speak--but you can't beat this beachfront hotel for the price and convenience.

Room #104 is beyond an epic failure, the mattress for the king bed should have been replaced years ago, it has huge wear patterns in it, and we could feel the springs really bad, I asked to change rooms after day one because of the mattress issue but the staff declined to change rooms for us. I was told 4 days later when we were checking out that someone was supposed to have changed the mattress 3 days earlier for us which obviously did not happen. The bathroom door does not fit correctly in the door frame and wedges (got worse with humidity) in when shutting to the point that after the 4 days we stayed the paint was flaking off and all over the floor. The sliding door to the balcony required us using two arms and a lot of force to open and close it which could have been a huge safety issue if there was an emergency, I'm assuming the sliding door on the room above us also had similar issues as it scared the heck out of us every time the people above us opened it, it sounded like they were coming through the ceiling. The HVAC unit rattles badly to the point of waking us up multiple times during the night. The only positive things I can say about our stay was the staff serving breakfast was very friendly and efficient at their jobs, and the location being on the beach.

Our room had new carpet and furniture! Bathroom needed a bit more attention! Over all clean. Enjoyed the tiki bar in the pool area! Disappointed to see bioengineered food served at breakfast! It's a older place but they are updating. Enjoyed our stay

Gorgeous view and the balcony is protected so you don't get the wind as bad. Beds are comfy and it's close to everything. The continental breakfast is good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again. You can't beat free parking.

What a great oceanfront hotel with the best hot breakfast at a reasonable price! Entire staff is awesome, they make you feel right at home. Housekeeping is great, and Dan the manager is especially awesome and so easy to work with. I highly recommend to anyone.

This place looked great in pictures but was terrible in reality. It was like out of the 1970s, never updated. Our room was dingy and dirty…sand on the floor, mildew, toilet didn't work. Bed had NO mattress pad - sheet directly on the old mattress - ugh! Don't stay here!

Always stay here on our almost monthly trips to Myrtle Beach! The hotel is very nice, the rooms are always comfortable and clean, and the staff, from the front desk to maintenance are always very friendly and efficient and helpful.

This was our first stay since 2018 at this property. We stayed in room 1011 on January 23rd and 24th. The location has limited parking at the building but has a parking area across the street. We are Best Western Diamond Select members and our room was automatically upgraded upon check in. The 10th floor views are beautiful We did have some comments about the room upon departure, none of which had an impact on our stay. We always take into consideration the location and time of year, yet like to let staff know if something in the room may need attention Front desk staff was appreciative of the information We did not utilize the breakfast at the hotel. It's very visible the hotel is doing the yearly winter paint and refresh. Our room had been recently painted and looked great. We also noticed all the light fixtures appeared new and were very bright. Everything we needed to utilize in our room worked appropriately As a tip the water needs to be ran for a while during the winter to get the hot water flowing especially being on the 10th floor. Also, light switches for the kitchen can be found behind the microwave and on the wall at the refrigerator. We would consider staying here again

Stayed at Best Western Ocean Sands for a quick winter getaway from the cold at home. Enjoyed some great seafood and post holiday shopping. North Myrtle Beach is nice and quiet this time of year and really enjoyed our getaway

The view from my room was spectacular. The king size beds were extremely comfortable. The room was extremely clean. I loved staying there. I will definitely be back. The breakfast was hot and delicious and very clean as well. The housekeepers were amazing the breakfast attendants were amazing and the front desk attendants were amazing also.

My husband and I stayed at this location about a year ago and it was great, however this past weekend was not. The room needed updating and the carpet was worn, the tub stopper was not working; we only had 1 bar of soap and no decaf coffee. This place had really gone downhill! Won't stay there again.

This was our second stay at this location in the past seven months. Each time we arrived after traveling 13 hours through the overnight hours. Needless to say when we pull in we are exhausted and often much earlier in the day than normal check in. Both times the property staff has welcomed us warmly and did everything possible to get us into a room ASAP as they could see how exhausted we were. The hotel is clean, breakfast food amazing, and staff all extremely friendly/helpful. Will always stay at this property whenever we are in the area.

We have stayed at this property several times. Overall, the stay was okay. We were in unit 411. The housekeeping staff and front desk staff were cordial and helpful. The beds were comfortable, but the lingering smell of chlorine bleach used on the sheets was strong. I would NOT have rented an efficiency suite if I had known the kitchen was so poorly equipped. The room was advertised to hold up to 6 people but the kitchen only had dishes (plates, bowls, cups) for 3-4 people. There were no glasses, only paper cups. There were 3 forks, 4 knives, 1 spoon and a poorly functioning can opener. There were only 3 cooking pans with no lids, no bakeware, no mixing bowls, no measuring cups or spoons. The cooking utensils consisted of 2 large spoons and a spatula. The knobs on the oven were stripped out and didn't work properly. There was an odd odor in the room, which we eventually discovered was a combination of the cleaning chemicals and the odor of urine coming from the sheer curtains in the bedroom area. They reeked of urine! The door to the room was warped and didn't latch unless we tugged or pushed on it to make sure it clicked in place to know it was actually locked. So, next time we will either rent a regular room or find other efficiency room accommodations elsewhere.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Yes, it is definitely a little older hotel but they have the nicest staff ever and it is very clean especially being right on the beach with all that sand. Shelly at the tiki hut by the pool was so sweet and made the best drinks. we had the greatest view from the ninth floor but I believe any of the rooms would give you a great view.

Older property, (1972). updated in 2019 but still showing it's age. Not as nice as in the hotel's pictures. It is in 2 separate buildings, so we had to walk next door for the breakfast. The pool and lazy river were much smaller than we thought they would be. We asked for and got a beachfront room with a balcony. That was what we paid for, really. Overall it was nice, staff was friendly and we had a pleasant time.

The hotel isn't super fancy but it is clean. The double queen suite had plenty of room for us (4 adults). A full size refrigerator. 2 TVs. There's also a Murphy bed and a pullout couch. The view from the balcony was spectacular! Easy access to the beach. Friendly staff. Parking is across the street, but it's not far from the elevator. The price was very reasonable. I would definitely stay here again!

The entire staff-Manager Dan included was friendly, courteous, and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The bed actually slept amazing! The parking was adequate. Breakfast and internet was good. Plenty of shops close by. Restaurants are close and some are ocean front dining. Beach access is right by. They have it all without overcrowding.

We had a great time staying at this Best Western! Every single one of the staff members we came in contact with said hello and were very friendly! April at the front desk was very helpful in explaining the property and even provided some dinner recommendations. Every morning she greeted guests with a smile on their way to breakfast. The breakfast was delicious! We honestly couldn't believe breakfast was included! The biscuits and gravy.. delicious! The pool area is a fun place to relax, have a drink and enjoy the sun and view. It's also very close to the beach. The bar tenders at the Tiki Bar, Michelle and Kirsten were great! The pool area has touch tunes which was nice!! We all had a great time! Michelle's got some good hits up her sleeve lol. The rooms were a little dated, but they were very clean. The views from the balcony are nice! I will definitely be staying here again!!

The staff was very accomodating and informative. The tiki bar bartender was very friendly and shared personal experience on local topics. The only issue was parking caused by construction. Room was very clean and spacious. The only thing the room may have been missing was pans to cook with. It was not a problem..we chose to dine out.

The staff are great. Facilities are a little bit older, but well maintained. Could not ask for better view or access to the beach. Breakfast was nice as the hot bar menu changed each day. Location is great for access to barefoot landing and Alabama Theater.

Room very dirt, smell like super old, sofa broken, sink drainage cap broken, mirror frame broken, carpet wet, TV super dirty, in coffee machine inside old coffee for last guest, electric stow rust and dirt, all wall dirt need paint.

My wife and I visited Myrtle Beach for a week and we found this hotel to be clean and the staff was very friendly. to be an older physical plan it was well kept. there is plenty of parking and conveniently located on the beach.

We stayed from August 15th to August 25th, the staff was friendly and took care of our needs and what was missing...So welcoming and always smiling.... Great location (especially waterfront)....Breakfast was great every morning. A little downward was the mattress, the stove and was missing plates, cups and utensils.

This was the most filthy hotel we have ever stayed at. Selected this hotel after reading good reviews so maybe we just had a bad room. Stayed in old south tower and was pleased upon checking in to learn upgraded to ocean view room, however noticed night before that ocean view rooms were being discounted to same price as regular room when I booked weeks before arriving. Pool area was never cleaned, no towels provided so we avoided that. Breakfast room so small & crowded we had to sit outside and could not finish breakfast due to flies. Beach was nice. Room was damp the first night, floor was wet/damp as was bespread but the bed was comfortable and seemed clean. Sofa was pretty gross and so old it felt like it was from five decades ago and there were stains on the wall behind it. The bathroom was real gross and we were given a handicap bathroom we did not ask for that was a real turnoff (photos included). Water kept seeping out from under the sink area where the wall met the floor in the corner, not from splashing on the sink so we had to keep drying that with a towel to avoid stepping in it (drain water?). Could not control the water temperature in the shower which was too hot. We were just passing though and not staying long so we just stayed in that room instead of asking for another room and decided we would never book another Best Western room ever again. Feedback from manager after filling out a solicited email survey was inadequate as he/she seemed to justify by saying we were upgraded to an ocean view room even though the price on the website for that room was lowered to the price of a regular room. Could not find a person in the lobby upon checkout at 7AM so left card keys on counter and could not wait to leave that place. Yikes!

Great location and value! Staff was very friendly. Excellent pool bar and beachfront area. There are many restaurants within a short drive as well as Barefoot Landing. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends and will be staying here again myself!

We came here 10 years ago on our honeymoon and enjoyed the stay immensely so we decided to return on our 10 year wedding anniversary, since our last visit the rooms haven't changed much and we noticed the pillows have shrunk and you get more of them, we enjoyed our stay but the air conditioner was pretty noisy and the bed wasn't as comfortable as the last room we had in a previous stay, the curtains are pretty tattered and wasn't doing a good job of keeping the sun out for sleeping in and noticed a few holes in them as well, they could use some up grading in the hotel for sure, The shower pressure was very nice and the massage head was great, the bathroom sink had very weak pressure and needed to have the screen cleaned out and it would have improved it. Having the kitchenette was worth having, it came in handy one night when we had a huge rain storm and didn't want to go out to eat. The staff was very nice and friendly and our house keeping lady was fantastic and a real sweet lady and deserved the tips we left her. We will stay here again for sure having ocean view from the room was worth the value alone and a beach that wasn't crowded with a million people was perfect. we never tried the breakfast at the hotel but the smell of waffles was very tempting but we love going out to breakfast.

The motel is a little dated in decor. But the staff is wonderful, the rooms are clean and the ocean is just outside your window! The Tiki bar is convenient and stocked with non-alcoholic options! The value for the price can't be beat!

Starting at the front desk they were very helpful in checking us in when we got to the room, it was very clean in the morning we went down for breakfast. The staff was very well managed, and the food was very good. housekeeping checked on us every day to make sure there was nothing we needed and I found the staff overall very friendly.

I've been going here for years, and it's always a place a look forward to coming to. Michelle at the front desk was beyond kind when my husband and I checked in late. She ensured we found a parking spot and got checked in without any issues. The housekeeping staff are so kind every time you see them in the halls, and they keep your room extremely clean during your stay. Not only can you stay ocean front, but there are two pools and a tiki bar on property which is awesome! Kirsten's drinks were great and she's always a ray or sunshine which is refreshing. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough when staying in North Myrtle Beach! Can't wait to be back next year!

Amazing staff (front desk-Michele I believe) from the time we checked in (late at night) to be checked on by multiple staff including Dan, Kirsten, and Janie Bell (sorry if my spelling is off). I've stayed in most types of accommodations from hostels to 5-star resorts around the world. As a first time stay I was shocked at the attentiveness and visitor oriented approach. Thanks for making my short but memorable visit one that will be repeated in years to come.

Stayed at the Best Western Ocean Sands for a week. Had a blast. From check in to check out, great stay. The room was clean, the bed was really comfortable and property offers lots to do. We used the lazy river and hung at the pool. And the Tiki Bar was great.

The stay at Best Western Ocean Sands did not disappoint. Room very clean. staff excellent as always. Always saw staff smiling. The pools were maintained to high standards. Wil definitely visit again.

If you get the two room suite for you another another set of adults be prepared for zero privacy. The main door opens directly into the bedroom. It might be good for two adults and small kids but that's it. If you are getting the standard room, you should be good. The value was good, the location was good, and the staff was fantastic but whoever designed the floor plan needs to be fired!

There are three people that make this Best Western exceptional. Kirsten and Shelly will make you want to stay at the Tiki Bar. Amy at the front desk should be the Face of Best Western. She is exceptional with her interaction with Travelers. I can't say enough good things about her. These three will make you want to go back and back and back.

This hotel is awful we stayed a week ago as soon as we arrived and got to our room housekeeping pounded on door twice said she had to check room to make sure it was clean then stared our belonvs down then came back said what is ur name and said ther was a mix up with room she called cront desk spoke with them again eyed our stuff the whole time. Phone cord kept falling out of phone she told them we needed new phone and we advised her our stove wasnt workin so she told front desk then she told us someone would be up no one came at all to chk it or bring new phone and we were there for 3 days. We had bran new clothing taken from room as well.mold on lamp shade room. Washer was out of order. They have small parking lot so was forced to park across street which made it hard as we had a disabled person in our party. Breakfast was awful and room was very small andd

The staff were outstanding. The rooms were very clean. Beach was beautiful and steps from the hotel. Pool was clean and the lazy river was fun. Best hotel breakfast ever. Going back next year! Worth the 10 hour drive.

Worst hotel I've every stayed at, its extremely dirty, unkept, and about 30 years outdated. We found bugs in the rooms, rodents, stains on the beds, mold everywhere, cobwebs and dirt throughout the hallways. Cleaning staff doesn't seem to clean the rooms during your stay or vacumm prior to check in. An older man that would yell at you for staying at the pool too long or entering the breakfast area too early. Only one elevator, that seems to have a mind of its own. The parking situation is very inconvenient

This hotel needs to update and repair just about everywhere. It has the feel of an old hotel that only gets repairs when you complain. The view of the ocean is great, But, then you walk back into your room and it feels dingy, dirty. I felt more comfortable sitting out in the heat than sitting on a stained old couch I had to cover with a sheet. The sliders to the patio needs updating and the curtains are so stained they need to be trashed. The fridge had rust marks on top and door bottom. I hate to say it but I'll never go back to this Best Western. They have always been my go hotel. This place has tarnished your respected name.

Website pictures and "Resort" label are appealing at first. The Annex room, however, was dark and smelled like mildew. Even the Lysol spray couldn't cover it up. Not a good representation of a Best Western Plus.

Everyone was smiles, staff is incredible. From reservation, check in/out time. Right on the beach, over the dunes. Perfect place to just be lazy & be on the beach/pool all day. Room was slightly dated, but very clean. Can't wait to be back summer 2025. Definitely get a comfy place to stay for not tons of money.

Great service and friendly staff. The breakfast was wonderful, many choices to choose. The beach was steps away. I had a balcony and could sit there and enjoy the views. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. My room had a stove and refrigerator with dishes

Pleasure family trip, we enjoyed our time. The advertisement is misleading.,We (our group) were given rooms without a view of the ocean, when the advertisement suggested “ocean view”. There is a view of the ocean after leaving the hotel which is a more accurate description of where we were assigned.

This was by far one of the filthiest hotel rooms I have ever had the displeasure of staying in. Disgusting floors, ceiling tiles falling out in the bathroom, hairs in the towels and on the baseboards.

Staff was amazing! They actually had breakfast (full spread). The rooms were very clean and comfy. The views from the room were great and they had a great pool area if you didn't want to go to the beach.

Indoor Pool and hot tub were closed for repairs ace and there was no notice on webpage, confirmation email, or at check in. Carpet was old. Staff was super friendly and helpful in recommending good places to eat. Breakfast was similar to other breakfasts but there was an attendant to obtain your food choice which was MUCH better than the usual buffet crowding. I might stay here again.

..I stay here 2-3 times a year, and I'm always impressed. It's not the Waldorf Astoria. What it is is a wonderful, economically-priced beach hotel, staffed by friendly and caring employees. Clean, safe, wonderful location, with a staff genuine concerned about your comfort. Perfect getaway every time!

Alone for the first Thanksgiving in years my wife and I headed to the beach. We hit the jackpot with this Best Western. The rooms were clean and in great shape. The view was everything you could ask for, and every member of the staff that we talked to was pleasant and helpful. We have already booked our next stay.
