"South Of France!"

We took the TGV from Paris ....quite a sad experience ..its a 6 hours + journey , train was packed due to season I suppose...the air conditioning was poor. However when we reached Nice...our hotel was a 3 minute walk to the right from the station. It is a nice hotel but some problem with the lift..it takes forever to come up! Breakfast was ok...with facility to boil eggs to your desired level, rest was cold breakfast with HOT coffee! A cute grocery store around the corner , did fruits , cheese & wine n beer one evening from there!!

"Modern and decent hotel in near of train station"

10/07/2018

Were visiting in Nice for 4 nights and 3 days and decided to go this hotel because it was probably only hotel which had modern and trendy rooms and feeling - and it truly had those. I was travelling alone and had 1 person room where bed was comfortable and bathroom size is huge compared to how big the room itself is. Breakfast was kind of expensive so I decided to enjoy those in the city which wasn't bad choice. Location is a bit off from city, so if I would book it now - I would go a little closer to the city center. Even tho, from this location you're able to walk anywhere under 15 minutes so it's not that bad. Train station is nearby which can be good or bad if you select those routes. Lobby was secured for 24h and all worked as needed. Probably not will come here second time but it's not because there were anything wrong or bad - would just be interested to see other locations too. Can recommend to try once!

"NICE HOTEL, NIGHTMARE BREKFAST"

06/07/2018

The room (#107) was nice and the bed quite comfortable. Despite the dimension everything is in the room: coffee machine, TV, safe... so quite ok for a *** hotel! I had no towels in the bathroom a part from a small one. I reported that to the reception while checking out and the answer was "you should have told that before"... I took a shower at midnight and I realized that just after... not calling the reception nacked! Breakfast is a nightmare. Things are here and there and everybody is going back and forth to collect them.

"Pretty good but tiny."

28/06/2018

The hotel is right by the station, easy to confuse with the best western Cosy. It therefore is about 15 mins to any restaurants or bars and not as central as some other reviews suggest. The staff were friendly and helpful and the reception area was a nice environment. The room was tidy, clean and modern but extremely small (which I was expecting from a boutique hotel but still surprised). We were only given one set of towels to start with and the large towel was so small. The sink leaked on the floor which was frustration. On the whole a pretty good base to see Nice and surrounding area from.

"Stylish, clean and a great base for Côte d'Azur adventures!"

23/06/2018

We stayed here for 7 nights June 2018 and we were very impressed with the decor and how clean everything was. We visit Nice every summer and normally stay in the old town, so this seemed a little far out for us and walking back from dinner most nights was a bit annoying. But on the other hand we take day trips most days on the train and the hotel couldn't have been more conveniently located to get an early train to places like Cannes, Antibes and Monaco and to get home easily to have a shower before heading towards old town for dinner! The area around the train station isn't the nicest, but then again in what city is it... and with so much to do in Nice and the Côte d'Azur we weren't hanging around the hotel very much!

Fairly close to the beach, close to the big chain shops and good for old town. Great for the trial station, too. Lovely breakfast, very welcoming staff and good sized, clean rooms. Could do with the tea and coffee being replenished daily but would definitely stay here again.

Great location for everything. Drop of from airport so easy almost next to hotel.Hop on off bus also near hotel, but watch out for coffee grill near hotel on other side of road tried to rip us off but no result!!! Laury at reception was so friendly helpful as we're all the staff..would definitely stay there again..clean,friendly, and welcoming nothing was too much trouble..it's a must stay...we will be back!!!!!!

"Room without a view"

08/06/2018

Small dark room with no view, although nice and clean. No working room safe. We felt like we had to carry our money with us all the time, not good. Hardly any bulbs worked even though it was cleaned daily the staff never likely reported this. After we mentioned it to reception only 1 of 3 was changed. Also reported lack of towels. As a couple you get 1 bath towel 1 hand between you each day. Reported this but made no difference. On last day we got no towels at all. So make sure you take a torch and towels. The staff speak good English but the hotel lacked attention to detail.

"Great place to overnight"

05/06/2018

Four nights in So`Co were our first time ever in Nice. We travelled to Nice because of F1 gp driven in Monaco. Location near the railwaystation (and approx. 25 min. to Monaco by train) was ideal for us. Otherwise neighbourhood was like in any other South-European town - local people were living their daily life. Everyone we contacted were extremely friendly eventhough our skills in French language were really limited. Only few weren't able to speak English which made our life easier. In addition to station both grocery store and bakery not to mention all small ”diners” were located nearby. And it took less than 10 min. by feet to reach the main shopping street. And another 10 min. or tram ride and the Mediterranian was in front of you. The hotel was cosy, at least our room on the fourth floor newly renowated and personally decorated. We had a small balcony. The room was extremely quiet - no noise from the street, railroad nor other rooms. Personnel were nice and helpful. Our room was kind of small, but enough for two adults who used it for sleeping. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but it would have cost 12,- euros per person. Air conditioning worked fine - and even it didn't make any noise. We will defenitely go back to Nice - perhaps not in gp-weekend because Nice by itself has a lot to offer. So'Co might be our choice once again.

"Handy location but with a few problems."

03/06/2018

Last part of our wonderful vacation to the UK and France during May. Stayed in Nice for 4 nights as Hubby was attending the F1 in Monaco. This was the first accommodation that was booked as it was extremely important to have due to race tickets being purchased. Booked through Expedia, paid for 3 rooms and had all the confirmation ect sent through. Five days prior to flying out I received an email from hotel management stating : “Following a technical incident, we inform you that your reservation has been made at a wrong rate.” The email was requesting additional funds be made or if we wished, cancellation at no charge. This is not something you want to receive at this late stage!! We had everything booked by this time obviously and no money left for this additional cost. I called Expedia the following day and was transferred to an department that could help with this issue. I was asked to forward the email and they called the hotel. Expedia sorted it all out for us and we didn't have to come up with the additional money. I'm not sure if it was the hotels fault or Expedia but I'd like to say Thankyou to the wonderful people at Expedia for saving the day for us. Ok, now for the hotel itself: Yes the rooms are tiny but that's expected in France. Breakfast was satisfactory. Great location close to train station The only issue I found with the room was that the toilet seat had an underbite & our bed sunk in the middle. In saying this I still would recommend the hotel for anyone on a budget looking to stay near the station.

We stayed here for one night as we went to the Monaco Grand Prix. We arrived to a really trendy hotel with tastefully modern decor and a room that was very clean. We had all the amenities that we would need, kettle, fridge, safe etc and a nice little Juliet balcony. You are right next door to the train station so it was really easy to get over to Monaco and we also walked down to the sea front which was no more than 20mins down a straight road. The room was of a modest size however perfectly fine for a short stay. We'd definitely go back if we were to visit the area again.

"Fantastic and friendly."

My husband and I booked in for an anniversary celebration weekend. The hotel is close to the train station and the bus drops off close by, we arrived in no time. We were greeted by the lovely ‘Laurie'. She was welcoming and provided us with refreshments, which was much appreciated. Laurie was very helpful throughout our stay and offered advice on best places to eat etc. All the staff seemed friendly and helpful. Although the room was small, it was great for a weekend getaway. The room was comfortable and well decorated and every effort had been made to welcome us. Our room was quiet and being on the sixth floor meant we could just see the sea from our room. The whole place had a modern, fresh feel. The breakfast room smart, with a good buffet continental array. I would happily return to this hotel, it's in an excellent location for travel and it's easy to walk into the historical parts and to the beach.

"Very Helpful & Lovely Staff"

21/05/2018

My husband & I chose to stay here for 3 nights. Upon arrival we were given a room that I was unhappy with as the balcony looked over an untidy courtyard. However they changed the room for us immediately to one with the balcony facing onto the street. The rooms are slightly small but bathroom was spacious, & room very clean & perfect for us as a couple. Only 2mins from train st & we had no complaints. Staff were so helpful whenever we asked for anything especially Lori & Alex. They couldn't do enough for us. Thank you & we would def come back & stay. Only thing was breakfast wasn't overly impressive but does the job

"What a Surprise"

20/04/2018

I booked this Hotel on Travelocity as I have always had good results with them in the past. NOT SO this time. We booked an overnight in Nice France before boarding a Cruise Ship out of Monte Carlo. Pictures on Travelocity looked good, rate was around 140.00 per night. Cab Driver from the Airport to Hotel had never heard of this Hotel Before and he had some difficulty finder it. Reception area about the size of a Bathroom, elevator to our room big enough for Two People and 2 Suitcases. Room about 150 square feet, Don't know they ever got the Queen size Bed in it. Half of the light switches didn't work, Toilet Seat was broke, two people could hardly move around. If this is Best Westerns best they can do, they should be ashamed of putting their name on it. Also they were doing construction on a Unit beneath are room, heard pounding from 2:00 PM to 5:30Pm, called the desk they came up and said nothing they could do, as they were in the process of remodeling. Why didn't Travelocity explain the so called Hotel was under construction. Don't even consider this place. It's a DUMP

"Not a particularly great hotel"

3
18/04/2018

Stayed here for 4 nights. The room was okay but first impressions weren't great. The bathroom door had a large hole in it which had been partially repaired by filler and a plastic bag stuck over it. The toilet seat was far too small for the toilet and when you sat on the toilet you had the corner of the square sink almost sticking in your face. The bathroom was a fair size but just poorly laid out. We asked to move rooms but nothing else was available. The bedroom itself was pretty pokey and there was hardly any room to get around the bed or to put suitcases to unpack them. Tea/coffee making facilities and bottled water were provided on the first day but they weren't replenished every day. The hotel was in a good location, a few minutes walk from Nice-Ville railway station. There were a few restaurants and fast food outlets in the vicinity of the hotel but not a great choice. The Best Western did a buffet breakfast for €12 euros which is quite expensive but most hotels or restaurants would charge around this amount in Nice. The breakfast was good and had a varied choice, though there was no egg cooking station as many other hotels breakfast would include. An average hotel, it's a shame that they haven't kept the room particularly well maintained.

Well placed for the centre of the city and the train station, this is a lovely small boutique hotel. Friendly staff helped us find our feet, and make the most of our trip. Good location also for exploring many of the local restaurants in Nice. We'd go back there again.

"Smart, clean and convenient for train station"

5
02/04/2018

If like us you arrive in Nice on the late train from Paris this hotel is only 300m or so from the station. It is smart, clean and comfortable with 24h reception. It is also well priced. The room was small, but adequate, the bathroom generous. The staff are very friendly and efficient, although a second staff member in the breakfast rush period would be an advantage. There are a number of well rated restaurants nearby in the Rue d'Alsace and Rue Georges Clemanceau. The Musiciens area in which it is situated appears to be undergoing gentrification but retains its local french population, bars and food shops. Walking to the old town or Promenade des Anglais takes 20-30 interesting minutes, but you may want to linger. The immediate station vicinity is typical of such places but easily avoided.

Our room on the 4th floor was fine and comfortable (you should ask for a higher floor 3+)... BUT the hotel is very close to the main station, so it‘s NOT a quiet place (It's OK if the window is closed). Rooms are nice and clean, friendly staff... the KLOBRILLE (toilet seat) didn‘t really fit, but that was the only issue ??

Good location and it is very near to train with station. Very convenience around 10 miniute walk. Quiet place and far from clubs. Walking distance to shopping area. Love the rooms too. 30/01/2018

We stayed for a long weekend. Caught the 99 bus from the airport. The stop is about 50 meters past the hotel, which is next to the Bible Book shop (on the same side). I thought the staff were friendly and were very helpful when asking advice. Our room although small was very clean, large bathroom, hairdryer, towels were fine although we would have liked bath towels rather than hand towels for drying off. We also had a small balcony in our room - great to be able to open windows. We didn't try their breakfast. We prefer to find somewhere locally to eat. Although the hotel was not in the most attractive of locations, we never felt uncomfortable walking around. Station is about 5 minutes walk away. Also close by is the Russian Orthodox Church which is definitely worth a 10 minute walk.

My husband stayed here one night before a flight and were surprised and delighted with the special touches and kindness of the staff. Great location, could still easily walk to various neighborhoods for dinner as well as to the ocean. The complimentary coffee was great and the lobby and shared space with the foosball table was fun in the evening. We got a room at the back of the building which was not a great view but was still bright and quiet for these light sleepers. Bed was firm and comfortable. The room is small but for the price we paid we were stunned but he finishes in the room from the furniture to the lighting to bath fixtures. Staff quickly helped us with any requests and were very helpful. Uber to the airport was easy or the airport bus is right there as well. Thanks So Co!

I fell in love with the design of this hotel! Rooms are small but cosy and with amazing design. Happy culture is a group of hotels in France, in Nice they have 8 hotels - all with a different design and theme. But trust me, they all are so stylish! And each of them held happy hours. In our it was free popcorn from 2pm. Location is also great - just a few minutes to train station and 15 to Promenade. Girl on reception Lisa was so lovely and friendly. Highly recommend So'Co Hotel and will definitely be back!

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nites with breakfast.Rooms are very small, shower is very very small but every thing is new and clean to high standarts.Breakfast is buffet, mostly cold food but enough.Good coffee machine.Staff in general very nice and helpful, speaks good english.Hotel position is not the best if you wanna stay at the beach, its just too far away.It position is very good for traveles, close to train station, tram and bus station. To get here from the airport before 21:00 take bus 99 for 6€ and the bus stops across the road from hotel. If you comming after 21:00 then use bus 98 but get off bus at Gambetta and walk to the hotel for about 15 minutes.

"inept, rude staff, tiny ugly rooms, go ibis instead!"

19/10/2017

god-awful hotel. We had a problem with our room and it took them 3 days to sort. All the staff just wanted to pass the buck onto their colleague the next morning, rather than sorting anything themselves. For 2 days no attempt whatsoever was made to help/compensate us. The rooms are tiny, and ugly.. although the shower was ok. Don't be fooled by the "balcony" which is actually a 3 inch ledge, barely big enough for one person to stand on and has a view of concrete and chimneys. There are plenty of Ibis hotels in Nice so use those. Terrible

Located near the main railway station so hand for trips out along the coast. Walkable distance to the sea front and the old town. Very helpful and friendly staff, warm welcome on arrival. Left our bags with the reception as we had arrived early in the morning. Coffee is available free of charge in the hotel reception area. Breakfast was not great and the dining area was cluttered and involved dancing around other guests in order to collect the various elements of food from the various stations around the dining room/reception/lobby/ area. Apart from that its great value, clean hotel

16/09/2017

This hotel was very convenient to the train station, walking distance even with luggage. Staff was good. The only complaints were that a the room was very small and when we needed an adaptor, the one they had did not match our German or American plugs.

"Very underwhelming."

15/09/2017

We were recommended to choose the new rooms behind the reception by the concierge because it's bigger. The room was very new but not well prepared for guest stay - many of the plugs didn't work and the phone was not plugged in. Bathroom was very dark and missing amenities such as the hair dryer even though the concierge told us to check the closet but it was not in there. Worst part of it was that the room was located next to back of the house so it was very LOUD. Not only you can hear guests bustling outside the reception, but you can also hear staff prepping and working right outside our bedroom door early in the morning. The noises were nonstop day or night. The staff did not sport a good attitude when we requested things that we needed. She was on the phone for full 15 minute and did not acknowledge us the whole time (would've just called the reception if our phone had worked)

, Directeur général at Best Western Hotel So'Co, responded to this review
Dear Annie, I am sorry that your stay did not go well because of the noise outside. I will refer your remarks to our technical department. We do our best to satisfy our customers, I'm sorry and hope to receive you next time in better conditions Best regards The Direction

"Nice tiny hotel near railway station"

4
30/08/2017

This was nice tiny hotel, clean and tidy with nice staff. Free coffee and pop corns in the lobby. 350 meters from railway station, nearest tram and grocery store. 1,5 km from the beach and old town. Peaceful, neet room with coffee/tea-making facilities, tiny balcony facing to upper city. Modest breakfast but it contained all you need to start your day. If your leave is later in the evening, ask for later check out. It goes with the extra fee but even in the high season we could had that, thanks!

On a family trip to Nice this was the hotel we selected through Easyjet holidays and what a choice!. A fantastic central location close to Nice Gare de Ville station and the main square 15/20mins walk away. The hotel is much like a Tardis, almost hidden away. But the hotel goes up 6 floors (in a albeit small and slow lift). The rooms were clean/modern and very comfortable. Breakfast was provided and what a feast it proved to with fresh fruit salad/cereal/toast meat etc. A good way to start the day. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly looking after our luggage before our flight. Most highly recommend this hotel and if (when) i am in the region again i will stay again A great allrounder and all round experience

stayed here for 8 nights in room 102, The Hotel is great to use the Railway station a 250m journey and also near the Russian Cathederal. The room itself was very clean and modern, added bonus was a fridge to keep our water/beer etc cool. nice touches like a thankyou if you did not use the room cleaning. yes rooms are not palatial but spent most of our time out and about. Breakfast was ample and nice natural yoghurt and fruit and coffee, eggs, croissant. Desk helpful with looking after bags and thankyou to Sarah and the team. If we return to Nice then would definitely use this hotel and manged to walk to the seafront by a different route each day and explore the city. Also very handy for the 99 bus to airport on our return. Also used the happy culture idea where you visit similar hotels and had a glass of wine and local food at Hotel Flore. In all a hotel which is great and friendly. Merci Beaucoup

"The best hotel in Nice"

28/07/2017

I stayed there for 8 nights with my family and we didn't regret at all that we booked this hotel. Everything is perfect there. The train station is just a walk away from the hotel and it's extremely convenient if you are traveling to nearby cities like Cannes, Monaco, Antibes .... Even though the rooms are not extremely spacious, they are convenient to stay in. The breakfast is decent and always renewed whenever you need something. The best thing about this hotel is the familiarly ambiance (esprit de famille) that the staff gives you: they are all very friendly and welcoming and they are always here to help you. I want thank everyone Adama, Nawal, Sarah, Alex and especially Liza for everything they have done to us. Liza was sublime during all our stay, and we felt like we knew her a long time a go, and treat us like her friends and we will be missing her for sure !!

We were here for 3 nights from 9th July, they had just finished the redecoration with only the stairway to paint , a very nice charcoal colour , the rooms are very small, there is a small wardrobe , no chest of drawers , a cork desk , with kettle , walls painted in charcoal colour paint , looked very modern , the bath was huge with strong shower and lots of hot water , good wi fi , small lift , breakfast for 12 euros always seemed a rush , terrible coffee from machine, help yourself from a large red smeg fridge , cartoned o/j, Tasteless cheese , sometimes a good fruit salad, the station was just up the road with a tourist information office, and a great Paul's cafe , (filled baguette and coffee 10 eu ) , the beach a nice 20 Minuit walk, If your here for a short stay touring everywhere this would be a good choice . The boat to st tropez leaves at 9 from the harbour , 65 euros , 2and a half hours each way .pre book .

"Great location"

07/07/2017

Hotel was in a fantastic location. Only 5 mins from the train station which we used to visit Monaco, Antibes, Cannes. Hotel was very dusty, floors dirty- we stayed 3 nights & the same bits of paper were on the carpets in the hall way from our arrival to departure. Breakfast time was terrible - we were not advised where anything was, we hat to "hunt" for milk & butter. There were containers for cereals which were full on the first morning but the next day they were empty so had to go into the back to get the new boxes. No cutlery was available so we had to clean some used knives & forks. There was a Bain Marie for us to boil our eggs but not enough water in to actually cook them - then no egg cups to put them in. Coffee, tea & milk not replaced in room so had to "pinch" some from the breakfast area. A strange hotel but fantastic location. We have stopped at Best Western hotels in the past but this was was a great disappointment !

"A little gem"

02/07/2017

Stayed for 3 nights, what a super place to stay. Ideal position about 250 metre from main train station and bus stop from airport. Hotel spotless, room small but had ever thing you needed as you only sleep there, bath room great and shower was one of the best I have had in numerous hotels I have stayed in. Tram line just past the station 2 euros a trip , buy a 10 euro ticket and you get 10 rides. Bus from airport number 99, 6 euro each way, takes about 15 minutes depending on traffic. Boat trip to San Tropez from harbour 63 euro takes 2 1/2 hours with about 5 hours there, well worth it. Numerous places to eat, spoilt for choice, prices not to expensive considering where you are, beer around 6 euro a bottle. Staff at hotel exceptional, very helpful especially Marion. Would definitely stay there again. WiFi good and free, kettle in room, ask reception if you need iron. Overall a little gem.

"Great quirky hotel"

20/06/2017

We spent four nights here on our first visit to Nice. It is very conveniently situated opposite the Railway Station for easy access to surrounding areas. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the room was compact but adequately sized with efficient air conditioning. We appreciated the provision of a "Welcome Tray" with a kettle so that we could brew up cups of tea whenever we wanted. The bed was really comfortable and the linen crisp and fresh. There was a large en-suite with an impressive supply of hot water at all times. At first we were not sure about the monochrome industrial style, but we soon grew to love it. The atmosphere was relaxed and informal, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome and had really good suggestions for places to visit. All in all, a great experience

"Great Location. Newly renovated"

16/06/2017

The hotel just changed names from BW Riviera to So Co so it's a little difficult to find with no obvious signage. Walked by it a couple of times before we found the doors. It's right beside the Bible Book Store. 2 minute walk to the train station and about a 15 minute walk to the Ocean. It's newly renovated. Rooms are small but the bathroom is a good size. Breakfast is adequate. Bed is comfortable. Most of the staff are great. One of the front desk staff had two default answers to most requests, , "not possible" and "speak to my colleague in the morning". Other than that, overall a good experience. Would stay there again.

"Good place to stay!"

My girlfriend and I chose to stay in this hotel instead, after finding our Airbnb in Nice too hot to live in. Great rooms! It was newly refurbished so everything is quite vogue and modern. Traveling to Nice in hot summer, the air con really cooled ourselves down. The front desk was also really helpful in answering all our questions about the city. Will stay here again next time in Nice!

Staying in best western was very convenient to us while we were at nice France for the first time , we've chosen this hotel because we read a very quiet good reviews about it ,near the metro station actually we came from Paris to nice via train so it's very convenient to stop on a walking distance from your hotel and also it's a walking distance from all the hustle and bustle happening in the near shopping areas and like 20 minutes walk from the famous English Walk . The hotel itself was a good one , the hot water was amazing the breakfast was average , newly renovated you can smell the fresh paint, clean ,tidy and not small at all ( not like Paris hotel rooms ) if you compare it to Paris hotel rooms you can easily consider it spacious. The happy hour in this hotel was some popcorn and a cup of coffee which isn't something to consider impressive . Two things we didn't like about this hotel the first one was the elevator and the second one was that we asked two different clerks at the reception area to fix our TV because it wasn't working and both times they promised they will fix the problem and simply they didn't. All in all i will come stay again in this hotel , it was a good experience.

"Lovely hotel, lots of teething problems"

29/05/2017

Overall the hotel was lovely, it was in a good location and the decor was really chic and lovely. However, we arrived very late on Thursday evening, being two girls alone, we wanted to let our parents know we had arrived safely, however were told there was no wifi, despite having been assured with our booking that there would be wifi. Another problem was that our room was not cleaned, as we seemed to have 'missed' the one cleaning slot of the day having opted for a lie in (which one is surely at liberty to do when on holiday). The next issue came when we realised the rooms had not been cleaned and simply requested new towels, which had not been delivered to our room and we had to ask for them again when we returned that evening. On the Friday, the wifi seemed to start working in the evening, but now this evening the air conditioning would not work. This was extremely uncomfortable as the weather was 20+ degrees celsius and the rooms are very small. On the Saturday, we were up and out early since we did not want to miss the so called 'cleaning timeframe' only to return that late afternoon, wanting to collect our things to go to the beach and be unable to enter our room as it was being cleaned. The hotel seemed to be very new, some of it seemed to still be under construction (there were workmen on the first floor installing lights) and we were told the hotel had no wifi 'because we are still new'. Despite this, we managed to enjoy a relatively pleasant stay with very friendly staff, it was just marred slightly by the teething problems we encountered. Maybe wait a few months before staying here so the hotel has time to remove its training wheels...

"A comfortable stay"

05/12/2016

Stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel is located a 5min walk from the train station which is very handy for travelling as we visited different places. Hotel and rooms are very small but we didnt need much as only here to sleep. Our room was quiet as the window was at the back of hotel towards residential area. No pretty view but we were out all day. Room has all you need. The only problem was the sir conditioning hardly did anything and in September it was still very hot. Opened windows to get some air was slightly better but got feasted on by mosquitos :-(. Promenade des Anglais is about 15min walk. In the evening the area in which hotel is a bit rough. At times felt a little unsafe. If come back again would probably stay near promenade des anglais as it is closer fir evening strolls. Would recommend this hotel for the good proximity to station. Staff were very helpful. 2 inparticular but cannot remember names a man and a lady with dark hair. We left our bags at hotel before check in and after check out which was convenient. They helped with directions and provided maps. Hair dryer in room died and they provided another quickly.

"FRIENDLY HOTEL STAFF"

4
25/10/2016

We ended up at this hotel in error, having thought we had booked one with a very similar name halfway between the railway station and the Promenade des Anglais. However, despite the tiny room and lack of space, we found it in a good location for the railway station, being a mere five minute walk away and as we were using Nice as a base to explore some of the towns along the coast by train, it suited us well. The staff were all very friendly and spoke a variety of languages and it was clean. Our only real criticism was that we had asked for a twin room and there was barely room to swing the proverbial cat, even after we had moved the furniture around a little to accommodate our suitcases etc. A lovely touch we thought was that between 6pm and 8 pm every evening, the hotel showcased different local wines, charcuterie, olives etc. This was an opportunity not only to try out different foods but to chat to other guests.

"Fabulous service"

25/10/2016

Great hotel, location was fine for us and we were three women, never felt it was unsafe....walkable to a lot of restaurants etc. Hotel itself - great staff, friendly, helpful...we had a triple room, spacious, spotless, tea/coffee and fridge...more than adequate. Happy Culture from 6 till 8 pm a lovely way to sit and chat with other guests, get tips, recommendations etc...all in all a great stay - luggage kept till evening - would definately go back!

We arrived on Monday, great staff, nice clean comfortable room, blackout curtains with comfortable bed made sleep easy. Just 2 mins from train station and 15 from the beach in a great location, no security fears in hotel or outside, lovely city. We have just returned from Monaco ( 15 mins on train ) and it was just breathtaking.

A few minutes walk from Gare Niceville train station. Exit station, turn right, about 5 mins walk to hotel, same street. At no time did we feel unsafe walking in the night, although it was a bit quiet with not much people walking around. The staff were very helpful, especially Valentino, who was very attentive and helped with whatever questions we had. He is a very pleasant young man and even conversed with us on several topics. We needed ice and he also provided it as well. Wifi in the room gave some problems but that was easily remedied by Valentino. Worked well after that. Room size was ok. We had a room at the front. We were able to leave a package at reception to be picked-up by some friends of ours who live about 1 hour outside of Nice. The hotel kept this package for almost 3 weeks until it was eventually pick-up about 1 week ago. After returning home I communicated with the Hotel regarding this package and they promptly replied to let me know whether it was picked up or not. If I could not leave the package I would have had to return home with it across the Atlantic. This was greatly appreciated !! Again, Valentino and Carole helped a lot with this. Loved the Happy Hour, the hotel provided free wine, lemonade and snacks, dips included, in the reception area. Something different and appreciated. Nespresso machine in reception area. A few tips: Exit the Hotel, make a right, go pass the train station and the next major intersection is Ave Jean Medicine. This is a major street with shopping, restaurants and grocery stores. Just on the corner of Ave Thiers and Jean Medicine you can pickup the tram, which runs right along Jean Medicine and takes you to Place Massena pass Fontana del Soleil and the statue of Apollo etc. The direction of the tram would say "Hopital Pasteur." Coming back to the hotel the direction of tram would say "Henri Sappia." If you prefer to walk it is about 20 mins. Few minutes walk to Promenade des Anglais from this area. If you are going to pick up the Bus #100 to Monaco, then you sit on the tram until it gets to Place Girabaldi, get off here then walk down Rue Cassini (this is one of the streets around this square) walk to end of street and make a slight left and you will see Notre Dame du Port Church, the bus to Monaco is opposite the church. Hope this helps. Again, thank you to the hotel staff, particularly Valentino, for making our stay enjoyable and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

For a city hotel, this was very very good. Only negative was the room, it was a bit small with very little storage but we only slept and got ready in the room so it was still ideal for our holiday. "It could have been better"

17/09/2016

I went here with my family. It's near the city centre but the area isn't the nicest place. Particularly at night it didn't feel very safe and coming from London it's saying something. The hotel was very pretty standard and the room was clean. I wasn't particularly impressed with the bathroom. It looked like it could have benefited with a bit of a touch up with paint. The first day we didn't have any complimentary soap and shower gel. I had to alert the housekeeping to get that sorted for the next day. The service was average. Overall we didn't have any big issues with the place but at the same time we weren't particularly impressed.

"No WiFi in Rooms"

06/09/2016

The hotel was inexpensive and exceeded my expectations. It is located close to the main train station in Nice, and it is easy to find because you won't even to make turns. Just come out of the station, walk down the street and there it is. Staff is very friendly, and there is free ice cream, free wine and snacks. There is even a Nepresso machine in the hallway. There is even a small refrigerator in the room, which is rare for this type of hotel! However, elevator is small and there is no WiFi in the rooms. I came to ask the staff why WiFi was not working, and they were unable to figure out. WiFi does connect in the lobby, so it must mean that my room was too far from the lobby to get connected. Everything else was great. They use toiletries from Galimard which is a famous perfume factory in the area, and that is a plus! Room is not too small or too big. Air conditioning a big noisy but that really does not bother.

Hotel located near the railway station. Dangerous place full of drug dealers, thieves, tramps and prostitutes at every hour. Dirt everywhere. we were in 2 adults in the same Room. Terrible, there is no space in the room to move, too small. The air conditioning works very badly. Internet too. They changed the room but same problems. We had to get down to work, but there is too much confusion, hotel without spaces. PC for guests was not working well. I asked why did not work well and the receptionist, then qualified as hotel manager, she was allowed to tell me why you do not use your devices, but which kind of anser is that? She is very rude and very arrogant, hysterical, does not know the education and not at all professional. He said write ome review, we not care. None respect for paying guests! Our stay was a nightmare. Forget this hotel.Hotel shabby and expensive for no one good service. Forget taxi very very expensive and a lot illegal.

I once again sincerely sorry for your negative impression on our company. Still, I find your pretty harsh comment on our performance, the size of the room is located in the standards, the environment remains a city center environment, located near the station, next to our hotel is 2 hotels 4 stars, so a neighborhood rather well attended. Spent quite a bit to stay at this hotel a couple of nights during the last stages of a 3 1/2 week trip to France & Italy. While the location was in close proximity to the train station & within relatively easy walking distance to the major sites of interest, the condition of the hotel left much to be desired. The service staff were great & helpful & breakfast was adequate, but that couldn't overcome the shortcomings of the hotel itself. It really needs a major overhaul to bring it up to the expectations of patrons expecting a 4-star, or even 3-star experience. Not recommended.

We reached the hotel evening of 8th July 2016, we were received by Adama, checking in was so fast... The hotel is few meters from Nice trainstation, therefore you wont need taxi or car hire... you can walk 500m to reach promenade des anglais..le vieux Nice or Marche au fleurs... To be brief, the hotel was very clean and all the staff were so friendly, Adama, Carole and specially David who is on night shift everyday, he helped us for every destination we inquired with reviews and how to reach( he printed maps and directions to follow almost on daily basis) The breakfast was good and more than good for the value of money Wifi everywhere... happy hour between 6 and 8 where you will be served rosee wine and tapenade...my only complain that the wine should be served chilled. Anyways our stay was very pleasant. Thank you best riviera...

Hotel in good location not far from the old town. Reception staff very helpful and free coffee and tea in reception and happy hour with wine every evening which was a nice touch. Hotel has nice friendly atmosphere and our room was clean and quiet tucked away on the fourth floor. Breakfast very tasty, would recommend this hotel.

"Very Helpful Receptionist"

18/06/2016

We didn't stay at this hotel but felt the need to post a review after a very helpful receptionist, called Valentino, helped us out. Our train from Paris was delayed by over 2 hours and this left us very short on time to make the kick-off of the Northern Ireland v Poland match. This hotel was across the road from where the shuttle buses were picking up for the match. We knew that we wouldn't have time to make it to our hotel to leave our luggage off so we went into this hotel and Valentino very kindly took our bags and kept them safe for us until our return from the match. We offered to pay him but he wouldn't take anything from us. The hotel public areas looked very clean and comfortable and the location was excellent for visiting Nice and thanks again to Valentino for all his help.

I stayed at here 4 nights (6/4-6/9),location is 2 minutes walk distance from Nice station.Hotel is likely a historic renovated building with a small canopy for each room,it provides free wi fi,coffee & wine . Facilities including tv,hair dryer,safe,air-conditioner/heater, working and meal tables, refrigerator etc. A large supermarket is located on the same street near Nice train station. Negative points: hotel room is small and breakfast is too simple with less choices. Reception staff is fine.

"Nice decent hotel near the station"

4
06/06/2016

200 meters from the station. But absolutely opposite to the main area in nice. Promenade which is the main street in Paris in 10 mins walking from this hotel. If you want to go to the beach its 1 km away. We always use to walk it down. This hotel has decently sized rooms and good bath rooms. It also had a small verandah. Tea coffee maker was provided in the room. Laundry services are pretty expensive in this hotel. While we were there there was a wine tasting which use to happen everyday from 6 PM to 8 PM. also coffee is free in the loby. So whenever you want you can go and make it yourself from the Nespresso machine. Breakfast was just about decent. If its not complimentary in your package they would charge you 10 euros.

The location of the hotel was great right next to the railway station. The staff was very nice and helpful. Room was small but it worked well with our stay and it was quiet. The wi-fi didn't work at all in the room, only in the lobby.

"A friendly hotel with some nice touches"

15/05/2016

This hotel is really close to the train station, handy after not booking a room prior to arriving. This is not a location that is in the tourist area, be prepared to do some walking. Front desk staff friendly, has a nice couch area with free wine and snack in the evening, and their morning breakfast is fantastic! Small rooms, good wifi, coffee in room a nice touch. Our double room was 2 single bed pushed together....not feeling the love for that. The view from our room was an alley, but didn't come to stay in my hotel and look out the window. This was a good spot to send us off exploring with a good breakfast and looked forward to relaxing here in the evening.

"Seems pretty expensive compared to what we experienced"

12/05/2016

Pros – This hotel is only a few blocks from the train station and a 15-20 min walk from the historical center. All areas of the hotel were very clean. The shower was one of the nicest we have had on our 3 month trip through Italy and France. Bathroom is very small for a hotel that is this expensive. It was nice to have a frig in the room though. The evening happy hour was a very welcome perk (complementary snacks and wine for two hours). The bed was comfortable and the English speaking staff provided extra pillows on request. The staff has been very helpful accept as noted in the Cons section of this review. Cons – Room was very small but had adequate horizontal space for our suitcases and other things. The shower floor was a very slippery. The air conditioning hadn't been turned on yet in mid-May so it was pretty hot on the sunny side of the hotel. It was very noisy on the street side of the hotel. We were originally given a room on the street side but were unable to sleep with our balcony door open (it had to be open to keep from sweating all night). After quite a hassle with the staff, I got them to switch us to a room on the side of the hotel opposite the street and the rest of our stay was quiet and comfortable. The wireless internet kept cutting out and it was one of those systems which had to be reconnected every time I opened my computer. When it was working though, it was pretty fast.

"Convenient, friendly, basic."

03/05/2016

We booked this hotel with our points, and stayed here for a few days as a base for day trips around the Cote d'Azur. This hotel is in a great location, on Ave Thiers just steps from the central train station, and about a 15min walk to the sea. Our room faced a 'courtyard' of sorts (basically just facing other apartment buildings), so it was very quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived a few hours before check-in so we left our bags and the staff were more than happy to accommodate that. Our flights out were late at night so again we left our bags for the day after check out and the staff were happy to store them for us. Overall this was a basic room, clean and comfortable but nothing special - but we didn't want to hang out in our hotel anyway. It suited our needs perfectly, no complaints. We'd stay here again, easily.

Nice compact hotel close to train station and not far from main attractions in Nice (by walking or tram). Rooms are small but have refrigerator and tea/coffee making facilities (handy for keeping your own drinks in the room). Bathroom was clean and functional. A nice self-service continental breakfast is available until 10:30. Check-out at 12:00 is convenient and you can leave your luggage with the hotel until 22:30 on the day of your check-out. Being close to the train station is handy for making trips to nearby places such as Cannes and Monaco. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is no hotel bar.

Excellent place to stay if all you want from a hotel is a comfortable bed and a decent breakfast. Good transport on the doorstep and good food within easy walking distance. I would recommend this hotel to anybody wanting a short break in Nice.

"Not a bad place to stay"

27/02/2016

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights in February 2016. It was one of the cheapest available and for the price you cannot complain. They do not have a hotel bar sadly so we used it as basically somewhere to sleep. Breakfast was included which consists of croissants, cereals, toast, fruit etc. It's ideal as it's easy and quick. The hotel is only 4 mins walk to the train station which is ideal if you wish to visit the likes of Cannes and Monte Carlo. Surroundings wise it is a good 15 minutes walk to the main centre/sea front. If your wanting to dine out I would recommend you make the walk to the centre, as it is a lot more lively there, it's ideal for dining/shopping/drinking and there are a couple of casinos too which are very nice inside. If you choose to take a taxi they have only 1 taxi firm in Nice, so you will pay €16 to get to the front and another €16 to get home so it's quite expensive to commute that way!! Alcohol is not cheap either, your average pint will be around €8 dependant on where you go. One or two places do a happy hour where you might pay €5 a pint if your lucky. Overall, Nice is a very good place to visit, and if your trip is aimed at mainly visiting Cannes and Monte Carlo as we did, this is a great place to stay to keep costs down as Cannes and Monte Carlo are expensive places to stay and eat/drink etc. We had a brilliant trip though, visiting the Grand Casino and Harbour in Monte Carlo and the Harbour in Cannes are a definite must just to see how the other half live!! Nice hotel about 15 minute walk to the front, but great location for the train station to Monaco and Cannes. Neat and tidy hotel with a charm about it. Staff not overly informative but did their job at the hotel well Good VFM and worth considering if you are on a budget.

A RASH lady receptionist liked to speak only to the French. All queries she had a standard answer "I cant help you"," wait in the reception OKAY" coupled with body language and angry stern face "Get lost from here".Fortunately evenings there was a pleasant Gentleman who took her place and helped us out.Hotel needs to take action asap else the tourists always have a choice.Good points the cold bfast is on time and is good enough.Rooms are small but very clean.we had a early morning flight thanks to the helpful gentleman in the reception who kept the bfast ready an hour before the scheduled time on request.....

The reception staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Rooms are spotlessly clean and serviced quickly and efficiently. A small plumbing problem was dealt with immediately, at 10:00pm. The hotel is 5 mins walk from the station and the breakfast is tasty and plentiful. I would thoroughly recommend this place for a short stay in Nice.

"Great Staff, Mediocre Hotel"

30/08/2015

We booked 3 nights at the Best Western Hotel Riviera for the beginning of a holiday in Provence. We arrived on a late evening flight. Unaware of the quality of the neighborhood we took the airport bus and the tram, and than dragged our suitcases several hundred meters to the hotel. The street seemed to be full with suspect types and "working girls". During day time this was no problem, but on the next evenings we avoided walking in the street after 9 pm. The hotel location also has its strengths: it is some 20 minutes walk from the shopping area and 30 minutes from the Promenade and Cours Saleya. And being close to the railway station was very convenient when we went to Antibes and Monaco, and when we went to the car rental office in the station. We were greeted by a very nice reception agent, who did his best to assist us when we encountered problems in the room, and all staff should be commended for being nice and helpful as they could. The elevator to the room was small and very slow. The room itself was small. It was clean, but very hot, and the air conditioner was very weak, it took about a day to cool the room. The electric kettle was missing (replaced next morning), as was the water bottle (the receptionist supplied us with one can of Coke, as a replacement). The The room phone did not work during our entire stay. Fortunately WiFi was good, so we could speak with our family over Skype. The bathroom was very small, and the toilet placed near the entrance, so the passage to the shower was very narrow. When we arrived the room was clean, as it was when we returned in the first day. However, on aor second day we returned on the second day we found that the room was not cleaned, and the dirty towels were taken away, but not replaced. Breakfast was an average continental type. There was an espresso machine in the lobby for free use, and wine was served in the afternoon.

Riviera B, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Riviera, responded to this review
Dear Amos, We thank you for taking time to share your impression of your last stay. I guess that your met Liza at your arrival and I am glad to hear that she has been helpfull. Please accept our apologies for the cleaning that we forget, I have talk about this with our team, be sure that we are working on a better organization. Kind regards, Loïc geffroy

"Dirty and dusty rooms!"

23/08/2015

My husband and I decided to visit Cote De Azur for our honeymoon and the 2nd stop was at Nice after touring through Paris. We wanted to experience the real french charm and character of Nice and hence, booked a hotel almost in the middle of the city. It was 2-3 minute walk from the Nice train station but the area around the train station is known to be loaded with pick pockets but we din't know that earlier and the hotel staff did not warn us either. It is not recommended to walk alone at late night around that area. The room seemed to be tiny but we were ok with that as we knew we wouldn't be spending a lot of our time in the room. The house-keeping staff was not courteous and decided to walk into our room on 2 consecutive days while we were fast asleep. The rooms we not clean and were very dusty and we could see the dust on our bed and heaps of dust beneath our bed. The bathroom did not have an exhaust and the foul smell would spread in the room and we would have to open the window/mini balcony for some ventilation. Terrible, terrible experience! The breakfast spread was nice and the staff at the breakfast counter was very friendly as well! Unfortunately we were so disappointed with hotel that we did not want to take pictures!

"Great staff, excellent value. "

This hotel is everything you might need on a budget in Nice, France. A short walk from the train station we were welcomed by David who was excellent in showing us where we were and where to go in Nice. A 10 minute walk down to the beach. If you want a nice place to lay your head where you can know what to expect while you tour Nice this is a sufficient hotel. Breakfast is good, quick and cheap (6euro). Great value, nice hotel.

"Great location, old world charm, very friendly and helpful staff!"

Had a great time at Nice, thanks in part to the hotel. The location is right opposite the railway station and walking distance from every place that matters. The staff is very friendly. In fact we had some of the best food because of the places they recommended.

"Quite old but good "

03/08/2015

The hotel is very close to the rail station, which is a benefit for those ones who are coming from the airport with luggages. It is also close from "le promenade des anglais",less than 10 minutes by walk. The rooms are enough spacious and the staff is very kind and polite and help you with all the information that you need.

"Value,good location, very convinient"

27/07/2015

the hotel is small boutique hotel, very nearby to nice gare(railway station) all the trains tgvs and other start from nice villie gare. for the massena square its a 10 min walk or you can take a tram ride from near the station costing about 1.7 euros. indian resturants are also nearby walking of 5 to 7 mins and the monop is also opposite the station. the beach also can be reached by walking about 10 mins so its really convienetly located. from the airport take the bus 99 which goes directly to nice villie gare. the rooms are ok. but in france this are considered standard rooms, with a small balcony and a bathroom with a bathtub. small room , comfortable bed. breakfast was ok as for vegetrarians its just bread butter jams juice n fruits. its anyways cold breakfast. overall would stay again as for the location and value. hope this helps others thanks

"Amazing staff, clean and comfortable room"

30/03/2015

I booked the smallest size room at the BW Riviera, however it was so exceptionally clean and cozy that I felt comfortable right away. The room includes features not often found in European hotels like French doors opening onto a juliet balcony, in-room coffee/tea service and a mini-fridge, and has a wonderful breakfast buffet, all for a very good rate. I originally booked it for 5 nights, but I loved it so much I stayed over a week. The staff was definitely one of the best of all my travels, truly welcoming, helpful to offer suggestions since this was my first visit to Nice, gracious and kind to bring up a platter from the breakfast buffet one morning when I wasn't feeling well. I won't reiterate the easy walk to the train station, the tram, and Ave Jean Médecin (the wonderful pedestrian shopping street). But the hotel is in a central location to easily walk to the Promenade and the Old Town, to local parks, as well as in the opposite direction to the Chagall, Matisse and Archaeology Museums. I will DEFINITELY stay here again.

"Comfortable Stay"

A very nice older and quiet hotel, just 2 blocks away from the Nice train station. Clean rooms, a large washroom by French standards, and a sense of security once you enter the hotel. Reasonably priced and I would definitely stay there the next time I pass through Nice.
