"worth as much as you paid for"
mina j, 10 Octobre 2018

the location was good, about 4 min to tram station, 8 min to beach, 8 min to train station. 7 min to massena palace. good access to shops and restaurants. you can reach to the airport by bus ( 8 min walk to bus station) very normal breakfast, but all day long you could help your self by coffee machine, drink coffee, tea , etc. croissants beside. i like it very much. The staff were really helpful but they didn't check in even 30 min earlier than check in time. although the hotel has luggage store but the most negative point was late check in, at 3 pm???? there were no slippers or toothpaste and toothbrush in the room, but in an email before i made a reservation they told they have slippers. i asked for it but they told 'we have no slippers'. the room has kettle and fridge. finally i recommend to people to stay in a better hotel if they can( i really love le merdien) but it still is ok.

"Average hotel, good location"
Donna J, 31 Août 2018

Well you really do get what you pay for! The location of this hotel is central and great for those wanting to explore Nice. However I have stayed in much better 3 star hotels. The air conditioning didn't really work, there was a terrible smell in the room, and no shower curtain/ glass door. It's was fine for 2 nights but considering what I paid for 2 nights for an Airbnb... I'll do this next time! Friendly staff on reception and great location as i said

"Not the "best" Best Western..."
lbisurfergirlnj, 12 Août 2018

First, I will say the staff were all very friendly and quite nice. However, our room was much warmer than the lobby (we had to complain to get it fixed, for it to be even remotely tolerable in the heatwave of 90 degree temps, and it was still significantly warmer than the lobby) and the room also had a TERRIBLE odor. Unfortunately, they were completely booked and could not change us to a different room. Finally, the shower curtain was pretty gross, and the shower so small that it was difficult to avoid touching it. I have stayed at other Best Westerns in France and the United States, and this one was simply not the same level as the others, which are usually a decent room for the price.

"Stay away!"
Cubanaloca, 09 Août 2018

Room 306 has mold!!! Hotel claimed it was “just stains”. Stains don't smell and look like mold. Luckily we booked three rooms. Had to put 7 people in two rooms because they were sold out. To make matters worse, they refused to give me a refund for this room. The other rooms had stains but were clean. This hotel is not getting a renovation until the winter. Stay away from this one.

"Good location"
sanshoe36, 22 Juin 2018

Stayed here for a couple of nights when visiting for nearby Monaco Grand Prix. Good location, within 5 mins walk of beach and train station(which is why we chose this hotel) Hotel was good, staff were helpful, although we never had any food or drink here. Would stay here again for a Monaco trip but maybe choose something a larger with a pool if staying in Nice for a holiday etc..

"Room smelt so bad it made me gag!"
74mmkp, 03 Juin 2018

Booked this as we unexpectedly needed a room in Nice for a night that didn't cost the earth. I booked the first hotel I saw with a recognisable brand as I had no time to research, so had fairly low expectations. Location was better than I expected for the price we paid. Short walk from the station, beach and shopping. Reception staff were really friendly too. However, there was a nasty, overpowering smell in the room - I saw another review that mentioned this but only after we had booked. We were too tired to complain and ask to swap so opened the balcony doors fully for a few hours to air it. Had been planning to sleep with them open but it was too noisy and by morning the smell was back and I actually physically gagged a few times. There is no way I would have spent another night there no matter how desperate I was! I would avoid this place on that basis alone.

"KEEP AWAY NOT WORTH IT"
Geordieniel, 20 Mai 2018

My Wife and I tried to stay here in April 2018. We arrived at the hotel and we were told the room was not ready. We then returned after lunch and we went to the room and we found the room to have the most overpowering chemical cleaning smell. We then went to the reception to tell them about this smell. We were told the hotel was full and unable to have another room. I asked to speak to the manager and the receptionist told me she was the only person on duty. I found it hard to believe that on a Saturday afternoon there was not a duty manager. The receptionist tried to call someone but no one was answering. After this we then took the receptionist to the room to show her the state of the room. After further inspection we found the room was dirty not to mention the state of the room. The hotel needs a serious updating. The room in question was 301. The receptionist was not able to give us another room and she could not do anything as she could not speak to a superior. So we left the hotel this really made a mess of our weekend plans. I got in touch with the hotel and the manager told me that my 150€ would not be refunded and he thinks the standards of his hotel is good he offered to give me another night in his hotel at a preferential rate which I declined as why would I want to stay in this place again after the way we were treated is such a bad hotel. I then contacted Best Western International about this and the best they could offer me was a 25€ gift card. After this whole experince I am no longer going to stay in a Best Western Hotel

"Good location but outdated very small rooms"
CarlosTopeca, 20 Mai 2018

The good is the central location and reasonable priced when compared to other hotels. Parking of off site but nearby; you have to reserve the parking ahead of time to get the 15 euros price per night. The staff was not too friendly. The elevator (one) is very small and we have to ride separate to get us and luggage. The window view was towards the back of residential area and was very ugly view.

"Good value, great location.."
NavmanFrance, 28 Avril 2018

For the price this hotel is good value. Worth getting the superior rooms for the little extra charged. Very good location, with some excellent restaurants just around the corner, 2 min walk to central areas. It is possible to park outside for a short period to unload baggage, you need to move the parking barriers out of place yourself, blocking the traffic for a minute, same when leaving.. parking is in the Louvre / Indigo car park nearby very low height 1.8m. The hotel has a limited amount of cheap parking cards for 15€, otherwise its 27€. Worth calling them to reserve as they ignored my email. Reception pretty indifferent and aloof, but helpful. I liked my room, fairly traditional style large with a balcony overlooking the streets, not too noisy at all. Truly enormous bed, nice big TV, bathroom pleasant. Breakfast was good too, great scrambled egg. The downstairs area is a bit out of character though, more like an Ibis Budget, still it serves its purpose. I would recommend, keeping the price in mind, its good enough value for such a central hotel.

"Perfectly acceptable hotel in a decent location"
Waheed R, 16 Avril 2018

Stayed at this Best Western for 2 nights, although the rooms are small they are clean and have all that is required. We were provided with free breakfast for our children and discounted parking at a close by car park. The hotel is a few minutes was from Place De Massena with lots of shops and restaurants close by.

"Overcharged for Stay & Terrible Customer Service"
MEDimmery, 02 Avril 2018

We checked out March 26 after a six night stay. We booked the junior suite with two bathrooms. When we arrived and checked in, no one mentioned that the second washroom was closed off. I had to return to the check in desk to ask about it. When I told the hotel clerk that I would like some sort of compensation since we booked and paid for a room with two washrooms, she assured me she would look into it. Later that day, Danielle let me know I would be receiving a discount of a one night stay when I checked out. Let me tell you about checking out at 6:45 in the morning: I came down to use to the washroom because my son was having a shower. The male night clerk was using one of the washrooms with the door open. He made no apology as I closed the door on him. When I checked out, he took forever to turn the computer on, couldn't find my booking and said he didn't know anything about any credit on my account. “It wasn't his job; he's just the night clerk.” He insisted that I pay 18€ for tax, I told him my taxi was waiting and he had my credit card on file. This was not satisfactory to him and he insisted I give him my credit card. He then could not get the machine to work to take my payment. Outside the taxi meter was running. I finally paid in euros and left. I really wanted to give the hotel a good review but I simply cannot. I paid for something they didn't provide and then did not honour the agreement to reimburse me. On top of that, the night clerk was completely incompetent dégoulasse using the toilet with the door open. Disgusting. I have now emailed the hotel twice and have been ignored.

"Good value hotel"
pilbosontour, 22 Mars 2018

We've recently returned from an enjoyable 4 night stay at this hotel, with breakfast included, and found it really good value for the price paid. We paid the small surcharge for a superior room, and consider it well spent. The location is perfect, not too far from the beach, the railway station or the old town. The staff were all courteous and helpful, and small touches such as brollies available to borrow in the lobby during the rain showers, meant that in our opinion, for a three star city hotel, the Roosevelt is a good choice.

"Needs Improvement"
Katie P, 19 Février 2018

Pros- This hotel is in a great location and is super convenient to walk everywhere. It is clean and 2 out of the 3 front desk people were very friendly. Cons- Front desk is mostly friendly, but unorganized. We checked in very late, after midnight and went up to our room to find a frightened and annoyed person already in the room. Very uncomfortable situation walking into someone's room at 1am. We went back down to the front desk, he was confused about the situation, and gave us another room. Not any apology, not any offer to make the situation better. We were told that there were a limited amount of discounted parking tickets and to check back in the morning. When we checked back, the front desk person was baffled that we were even asking for such a thing. She told us we should have figured that out before we arrived and laughed as if our question was so ridiculous. The room was super small. The desk was all the way up against the bed with a completely useless stool under the desk. No additional lock on the door, which I was paranoid about since we had walked into someone else's room earlier. The wifi didn't work at all throughout the entire weekend. This was super inconvenient as we were trying to check our other reservations and plans for the weekend. When we told the front desk, he just responded "oh yes, it hasn't been working." The shower head was falling apart, so you had to hold it up with your hand. Front desk doesn't seem to acknowledge issues with the hotel or they are not empowered enough to fix anything or to compensate for inconveniences and mistakes - could have been offered a nicer room, or a free breakfast, or something. We checked out and stayed our last night in a different hotel. I do not recommend.

"Ideal"
dmills272, 17 Février 2018

Just returned from a three night stay at this hotel, wasn't expecting much from this hotel because of the price but was very pleasantly surprised, found our room was quite chilly when we arrived so mentioned it to the reception staff, they offered us a small heater which was put in the room minutes later and worked a treat in warming it up, we also borrowed a portable DVD player and used the DVDs the hotel have in the lobby. Found the staff very helpful and attentive, would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Pleasant stay in Nice"
clarajane2, 14 Février 2018

We've just returned from a short break at this hotel and found that: - the rooms were simple but fine and had tea/coffee making facilities. - the position of the hotel was very good and within easy reach of most sights - reception staff were friendly and helpful - the breakfast area was too small for the size of the hotel - the breakfast buffet itself was ok but service was erratic - they were constantly running out of items, even such a staple as bread. We always had to wait for food to arrive and it seeimed so odd to have to wait ten to fifteen minutes to get bread in a French hotel! They were probably understaffed in this department and certainly need to get this aspect sorted out. - Overall the hotel suited our needs but didn't quite reach the standard we expect of Best Western.

"Good location !"
sivar121, 23 Décembre 2017

It is just a 5-minute walk from the Promenade des Anglais and a 10-minute walk to the Nice train station. Rooms are basic but comfortable. We stayed in a 4-bed suite that can accommodate 2 adult and 2 kids. Breakfast served has bread, yogurt, limited hot items, and coffee. Enough to start your day. Helpful staff.

"disappointing "
CancunVIP10, 19 Novembre 2017

From the lobby to the room, nothing is up to Best Western International standards by any means. Furniture in the lobby is torn and worn out, ceiling patchwork is sloppy, and breakfast for what is offered is way overpriced. Our room was decently furnished, bed was spring coil and miserable. Room carpet has not been properly cleaned. Bathroom was remodeled but poorly done with missing tile grout in many areas and shower had black hair stuck on a wall and in the floor corner, showing lack cleaning. Overall, it looks nice at first glance, but that's it. Overpriced for offseason and location. Staff friendliness was a hit and miss, inconsistent service in need of possible retraining.

"Not as good as last visit"
jeffyg, 14 Novembre 2017

We stayed here 3½ years ago when last in Nice and had a fairly pleasant stay, so had no hesitation to book again on this occaision. However this time round the hotel was not up to the standard we normally expect. We (again) booked a triple room, but were upgraded to a Junior Suite as all triples were full. In theory this should be an improvement, but the room was divided into 2 distinct spaces and felt much smaller as a result, as each space was quite small, and the layout was odd. Also, the room felt tired and dusty, despite appearing to have been recently renovated with a relatively contemporary decor, there was a musty smell, and the carpet felt lose and a little dirty underfoot. The drains couldn't cope with the volume of water in the shower and a few inches of water would pool at your feet when using it. An upstand had been created to restrict the water, so drainage must be an on going problem. And the bathroom generally was quite small, but clean and modern. Importantly for potential guests to note, there was no wifi for the duration of our stay. We were told there was a problem and they were trying to rectify it, but it seemed that it may have been out for a while. The front desk staff tried to dismiss our queries on this as quickly as possible, as I suspect many people had complained. And from reading recent reviews, it appears a month after our stay in early October the problem still persists. Free wifi should not be advertised if it is not available. This was our first stop on a 1 month European holiday and we needed wifi access to get plans in place. Luckily, there was plenty of free wifi in other places around the city. We had what I recall to be quite a decent breakfast included with our stay last time, but this time it was quite expensive to include in the nightly rate, and also expensive to purchase on a daily basis so we ate breakfast elsewhere as there are good options for a light breakfast nearby. Positives? The Junior Suite had a Nespresso machine in the room, and free soft drink and water which was a welcome touch. The room had two large windows facing the street which were nice to open to get a breeze (when so many hotels these days only have fixed windows and AC) The hotel's location is great - its easy to walk to the station, the Promenade, the shopping and the old town, as well as the airport bus. And given its location, its priced really well. And, as per our last visit, the staff were warm, friendly, and very helpful when we needed assistance. Overall, Id rate our stay as average. It was a good value hotel in a good location, that felt a bit tired and had no wow factor.

"Short city stay"
AhogZ, 06 Novembre 2017

The hotel is located walking distance from promenade and old part of the city. The hotel rooms are rather basic and small, but bathrooms were recently upgraded. There is coffee/tea facility, safe and mini bar in the room, there are basic toilet items in the bathroom. Hotel has also vending machine downstairs. Breakfast is served near lobby, some, limited hot items, egg boiling self-service, cold cuts, jogurts and bread. Coffee from machine and some fruit salad. Nice and helpful staff, so proper hotel for short city stay.

"Not as good as expected"
Shebain, 02 Novembre 2017

The hotel was just ok. The room was small but clean. The bathroom was painted in a dingy dark grey paint. It didn't look like a professional job. There was a hole in the ceiling where the panelling had come away from the wall. There was an unpleasant smell of drains. There was no wifi while we were there and the receptionist seemed unconcerned and unable to tell us when it might be available. The breakfast was ok. It was the usual buffet style but the coffee was good and the fruit and croissants fresh. Most of the staff were very pleasant.

"“IT'S A SELF SERVICE HOTEL”"
Saurabh S, 17 Octobre 2017

I was not aware that in France 3 star hotels don't provide room service/bell boy service, it means you have to carry your own bags to/from your rooms/reception. They don't have a kitchen so the breakfast they serve is cold. The standard rooms are very small and cramped & Lift to the rooms are very small, it hardly fits 2 people and 2 medium sized bags The Wifi during our stay was not working Now the good things- The front office people are quite helpful. It's very close to Tram/Bus stops, roughly 5 minutes of walking.

"Family rooms face noisy road. No wi-fi. Great breakfasts"
Susan G, 13 Octobre 2017

Hotel doesn't have a back entrance so many services come and go in the night. The disadvantage of a family room over the front door and non double glazed windows! We heard all the street noises, traffic and voices. The laundry lorry arrived every morning approx. 02.30am and we heard the lorry and its hydraulic step and the laundry bins being wheeled in and out and lots more. Another service lorry we heard an hour or two later, but didn't get up to look out of the window! I did tell reception after 1st night, only to be told: they only have two family rooms and the other is at the from of hotel too. So we couldn't move rooms. Everyone was being told there was a street problem and so no wi-fi (we had none for the full 5days). Best was the plentiful hot and cold buffet breakfast (we'd booked breakfast as inclusive and were very pleased). Coffee machine in breakfast room could be used free all day. Microwave in hall/lift area for our use too. Fridge in bedroom with 2 complimentary bottles of water and 2 cans of coke. Tea tray and pod coffee machine. The family bedroom was semi split with en-suite shower room and single day bed and through the arch to double bed. Both 1/2's having own tv and own wardrobe space. Friendly hotel, greeted in and out. Very good location, a few minutes walk to street cafes, the park and the beach. (Subway café in the same street, a few house away.) If it wasn't for the bad street noise and lack of wi-fi then I'd have given 5 stars.

"Just acceptable hotel"
PetterJohan, 13 Octobre 2017

Stayed 2 nights in an ok sized room in desperate need of refurbishment. Had to do some plumbing in order to «assemble» shower head and fosset. Being shabby the room was very clean. The location is great with 15 mins walk to railway station and 5 mins from several nice restaurants in Rue Massena

"Quick visit!"
Matthew P, 12 Octobre 2017

Ideal for what we needed, central location, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room and a decent breakfast...no problem! Rooms were clean and quiet, no problem sleeping. Staff were very helpful and the city centre , main shopping area, Promenade des Anglais, Veille Ville etc are all very handy. Easy 10 minute walk to the Station if you're going out of town, likewise it was a similar walk to the bus stop for the 98 back to the airport.

"Good location "
LE21, 09 Octobre 2017

I spent 2 nights in this hotel with 2 other friends. Overall the hotel is ok, the location is good and the staff were nice, but there is nothing special about it. Internet was not working during our stay, which made researching for places impossible.

"No Wi Fi or BBC."
paul d, 07 Octobre 2017

Excellent location. However, no wi fi and no BBC news channel or any UK news channel on the TV. In this day and age you have to say that is poor. Go for a room at the rear of the hotel, much quieter as hotel on busy street. Hotel is clean and tidy etc does what it says on the tin but having to go to McDonalds to check e mails etc is frankly very annoying. So far also, having been here 3 nights, no shampoo, soap, shower gel or ear buds have been replenished.

"Location is the best point of this hotel"
IvanaPS, 07 Septembre 2017

Top location! 10 min walking to the Promenade, 2 min to public garage parking, 2 min from atractive rushy pedestrian zones. Rooms are small, but you have everything you need inside. We had street view - nothing special, just trafic. We had noisy neighbours, but stuff immediately solved the problem for us. Breakfast is very good! Each morning we enjoyed scrambled eggs and croissants :) If you want to park your car somewhere near, you have to go to the nearest garage because I doubt that you will find place at the street and it is a question if you want to leave a car outside. Therefore think about paying that parking. We payed 20-25 euros for 17-18 hours.

"Central but uncared for"
BDB987, 23 Août 2017

An abundance of staff, slightly unwilling to welcome us to the city and give us an idea of where to walk, eat or visit, send us into a lift not big enough for 4 (with luggage). The room is compact and open plan (family room) has 2 bathrooms (one with wc one without). The sheets and floor feel sticky and the 2nd bathroom is too small to properly move around in. Excellent location though and near underground car parks. Summary - Nothing overly wrong but a shame the staff are slightly above themselves and the place needs a bit of a spruce up really.

"Great hotel but needs updating"
R-casa, 21 Août 2017

We went on a package with easyJet for 10 nights with breakfast. Daniela checked us in to room 305 which smelled very bad and had wet carpet! Once assessed from my experience as a Facilties manager, it was a drain issue which was leaking trough the walls leading to the floor and carpet in the room. I went back to Daniela and reported the issue, her answer was that they didn't have any spare room and we had to remain there until there is availability. She and her team were aware of the issue and prentended that they didn't know and nothing was wrong with the room. I went to complain again on our 7th day as I didn't receive any update and Rajaa was helpful by moving us to Room 410 for our last 3 days. Air Con doesn't work properly which blowed hot air and we needed an extra fan to cool the room. We couldn't argue and be too negative from day one as we wanted to enjoy our holiday and stay positive about everything. We were out all day and only came back to the hotel to sleep. Location is great 2 mns to Massena square and transports, the beach is 5 mns away with plenty shops around like Monoprix. Bus 98 drops you close to Massena square and Uber taxis are very convenient to and from the airport. Restaurants also are everywhere with reasonable price. Nice is beautiful and beaches outside the town are a must see. The hotel need updating and refurbished specially Air con! Shower room is very small for 3 people, my child had to sleep on a small bed and I had to share with my wife a twin bed!

"It's Nice in Nice...."
Andy W, 13 Août 2017

Great location just off the main streets, bit of a blip on the first day....Jet2 don't seem to inform hotels that 3 guests are arriving and that one doesn't want to sleep on the floor....yes....floor for 6 nights Not the hotels fault and when we asked to be moved they couldn't have been more accommodating. Now in a wonderful room with space for us all. 5star for the staff...very helpful and polite. Nice it's self is a great place....loads to do and see and if you look off the beaten track then very affordable restaurants and bars.

"Excellent location, had a great 4 night stay"
ClareypopsEdinburgh, 27 Juillet 2017

We stayed in a family room for 3, the room was massive and very clean. Our beds were huge and very comfortable. Location is excellent on the main shopping street, a short 10 mins walk to the old town and a bit less in the other direction to the Train Station. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We decided not to have breakfast, due to the high cost. We emailed before arrival and asked for a room with a balcony, which we got. Excellent air conditioning as well and super quick wifi.

"Average room, good breakfast"
MariaMeceanu, 23 Juillet 2017

We stayed for 3 nights, we opted for breakfast as well. Plenty to choose from on the breakfast. The room was very small, the bed not so comfy and the bathroom small and rusty. Did not liked how the shower looked like, and the sink offered small space for your belongings. We tried to stay as little as possible in the room. I expected a bit more from it.

"One night stay"
charliebyne, 13 Juillet 2017

Great size of room ad location. Easy to get to from train station although if you have heavy suitcases you may want to get a taxi. Very helpful receptionist. Bed was super comfy and the made sure are room was next to the rest of our family. Air con worked well a bit to well. Everything was clean and fresh. Reasonable price as well

"Great location and comfortable hotel"
Ian C, 11 Juillet 2017

The hotel is about 5-10 mins walk from the seafront and the Jardin Albert bus stop where the Airport Express (No. 98) drops off. The hotel is situated in a area which contains many boutique shops and cafes/restaurants. We had a family room (403) which was originally two medium sized rooms knocked into one large room containing a double bed and king size sofa bed which the kids shared. The room had two separate bathrooms but only one contained a bath/shower. The room also contained Tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, numerous plug sockets, two TV's and a safe and was plenty large enough for 4 people. The room was very clean. Good value for money given how expensive Nice is to visit. We really enjoyed our stay and would book again.

"WORST Western Hotel Roosevelt"
Ak T, 05 Juillet 2017

Firstly, they caused us the horrendous trouble regarding their parking lot. It was utterly unacceptable that female receptionist even showed us an attidude to tell us off for using the parking card incorrectly, which I believe that the hotel receptionist FAILED to explain exactly how to use it in the first place! It was not our fault but 100% THEIR fault!!! On arrival, we asked where the parking lot is and how to use the given card for parking, however, the male receptionist there only scribbled to mark the place on their map and rushed to send us to the rooms by saying this was "very easy to find". He clearly never fully explain about the location or even show us the existing picture panel of the machine which he was supposed to show (apparently according to the female receptionist) since you would have to scan the card on a certain part of the machine. So we were left with the imperfect information on day 1, which resulted us in the total disaster today. When we came back from our drive today, we simply could not find the rigid place that could convince us to park for the hotel. After a long search for it, we decided to drop myself off to go and ask the hotel again. Later, we found out that the name of the parking area was TOTALLY DIFFERENT from the name written on the given card, which I'm sure is enormously confusing to EVERYONE who not local (at least not "easy to find"!???). At this point where I needed their help, the female receptionist there was very unprofessional and rude at my surprise. She only said that the parking's name is "Indigo" even though the name of the card is "Vinci" after me asking, and that we would scan the card to get into it. *She didn't show the existing picture panel at this point again either* So, I told about it to my driver which is my dad – later he tried to tap in, however it didn't lift the bar (obviously because the spot to tap on was wrong d/c unexplained by the hotel and poorly discribed on the machine in terms of visual communication) and we all families were left in a huge agitation and disappointment. Therefore, he inserted the card following the arrow which suggests to put your card in although it unfortunately ended up stuck in the insert part. He pressed the button to speak to the information centre, but again he was left disappointed as the "information" was unable to understand his simple English. Then my sister ran to tell me and the hotel that the card was stuck and needed a further help, and I saw that female receptionist getting bossy and offensive rather than acting immediately to solve the issue. I felt no sincere care or genuine service, so argued that it was the hotel's fault that we were in that mess, however, she was still acting useless as though she didn't want to admit that it was her fault. Then, she went on a phone and even LIED to me and my sister that her colleague fixed the problem with the machine, which we found out later from my family that it was fixed by a kind person driving behind our car with the same parking card to open the gate. What on earth was she talking about then..? We had to push her to explain precisely how it works when we got back in, which was already stressful for us as we were only there to have a good time not such a troublesome time, but she kept cutting me and my dad speaking, which was really really shocking at last. She never apologised but SHUSHED ME even though it was clearly the hotel's fault and that it massively consumed our time and energy. Well.. What else can I say? I can't recommend this hotel at all that comes not only with this awful level of customer service but also with the poorest WiFi, small rooms with a tiny bathroom, and unchanged towels.. I'd advise them to change the name from the "Best" to "Worst Western Hotel Roosevelt".

"Serious Maintenance required "
Daniela_Oliveira_BPN, 28 Juin 2017

The hotel location is perfect to visit the city on foot. Breakfast also nice. However, the hotel needs some serious maintenance, we've stayed in a standard room "without" AC (not working), I have asked to change rooms, the room available also had AC issues. Bath door was not closing properly and floor looked like a swimming pool during shower. At check-out no one asked about the parking card, and we have completely forgotten ... well, stopped by a post office couple of days later to send it to avoid additional charges. Overall, needs some improvement.

"Terrible HoteL !!"
687rajeev, 19 Juin 2017

It is the worst hotel I have come across. i) carpet smells. ii) AC's donot work . iii) AC repair complaints not attended to iv) The room stinks badly v) The linen also smells very bad vi) Tnsects bite while sleeping vii) The bathroom has a peculiar smell.viii) The lift can only accommodate two persons, when the complaints are made and we want to talk to senior people of the hotel we are told that the director is away on holiday, and he connot be disturbed. Very Very bad experience. No body should stay in this hotel.

"Great position for Promenade des Anglais and railway station"
Geoff B, 07 Mai 2017

We had a very small room but it didn't bother us as we weren't in it long . Room has to , kettle , tea/coffee , fridge , safety deposit box . Soap , shower gel and shampoo provided . Breakfast had plenty of choice , croissants were a bit disappointing . Tea and coffee available in reception area 24/7

"Good location, helpfull staff"
RRika, 04 Mai 2017

We could reach all needed locations by foot. There is a kettle and complimentary coffee and tee in the room, supplemented every day. I liked the balcony. If window is opened the street noise can wake you up in the morning, but just close the window and continue snoring :) there is an AC in the room. Bed was a bit too hard for us.

"Good location, average service!"
Tom390, 21 Avril 2017

On our arrival at this hotel, the receptionist, a tall and skinny guy, didn't greet and was very cold. During our check-in process, the receptionist was very impatient in several occasions. So our first impression of this hotel is really bad. The hotel offers complimentary pastries and hot drinks. But they always shut down the lights in the dining room and you would have to request them to turn on the lights. So you don't really feel welcomed. The location of this hotel is good. You can reach the main shopping area in less than 5 minutes by feet. You can also easily walk to the beach and train station. The room is clean and comfortable. We had two bathrooms which is very convenient!

"Excellent service, great location"
lorisz, 02 Avril 2017

I stayed here for five nights and really liked this hotel. All the staff were always courteous and professional. It's close to the train station and the Promenade des Anglais. What I also liked is that it's only a 15 minute walk to the old town but has none of the night noise. I was on the street side and it does get noisy but when I shut the French doors on the patio it was fine. I left them open at night for the cool breeze and with earplugs (travelers top ten companions), I slept all night no problem. I didn't do the breakfast because I figured, rightly so, that there was good French breakfast in the area. Behind the hotel, back two blocks is an amazing boulangerie and patisserie (bakery and pastry shop) called Lorraine (at Rue Karr and Rue Deroulede) that I got amazing breakfast yummies. It was mostly locals buying their baguettes for the day. There were tons of other options on the way to the beach. The shower in the bathroom had instantly hot water with a lot of pressure. Sure the place needs an update (Old carpet and furnishings) but it was clean and a good overall experience. The Nespresso machine didn't work the last morning but they let me get free coffee in the breakfast room while the (ever present and super nice) handyman was discharged to fix it. Definitely would stay here again. If you plan on doing a lot in the vielle ville though, I'd stay a bit closer.

"Very comfortable and convenient"
Peter G, 25 Février 2017

We stayed here for 3 nights last week-end. A 98 bus from the airport goes to the Albert Gardens and the hotel is a five minute walk away. We received a friendly and warm greeting in reception and the check-in was quick and efficient. The lift was tiny and had just about enough room for my wife and me and 2 small overnight cases so be warned, if two people have full size cases you would probably need to use the lift in turns! The room was huge and spotless with a large double bed, nice big bathroom and shower and a Juliette balcony. There is a room temperature control that blows hot or cold and works very well. There is a large TV, kettle and coffee maker - all very well maintained. This is a comfortable and friendly hotel that is well managed and cleaned to a high spec. It was a really enjoyable short holiday.

"The BEST Best Western!"
Hyacinth B, 23 Février 2017

I loved this hotel from the lovely, friendly staff to the good sized, comfy room. We were welcomed in by Danielle at the front desk who could not have been more helpful and friendly. The in the morning we met Joseph who was just as kind and friendly. Even the Manager, Emmanuel popped out of the office to have a chat with us and help with enquiries. The room was a good size and a great feature was that the toilet was separate from the beautiful bathroom, when 2 of you share - that's a big plus! The tea/coffee tray was well stocked + had a couple of biscuits for us and there was a sweet on each bed, nice for if you have a sweet tooth. 2 big closets and a nice hot/cold breakfast in the morning. This place is very central, you can walk down to the promenade or the old town in a few minutes. Lots of bars/restaurants nearby. From the airport get the 98 (Express bus) get off at Rue du Congress, walk up that street & turn right. Easy Peasy and SO worth it!

"Nice Location"
Celia M, 15 Janvier 2017

The location was perfect, everything is in walking distance. Great breakfast, friendly staff, the bathroom was good but the bath tube was too high making it difficult to leave after shower. The elevator is too small. Worth the money for the location+breakfast.

"Good hotel in city centre"
Tannpirker, 04 Décembre 2016

I stayed in room 312 for 3 nights. It's a double room perfect for one person - perhaps a bit small for two persons. The bathrooms are upgraded - quite nice. The hotel is located 500 metres from the Promenade de Anglais. I came by car and need parking. The hotel offers a parking deal at the Louvre parking house (200 metres away) for €16 a day. You need to pick up a key card at the hotel before you enter the parking, to get the discounted price. The Nice traffic is a mess, so a parking facility is a relief. There are som traffic noise, but a pillow over my head works fine :-) The room had a fridge. However, the fridge is connected to the main switch. When you take out the key card, the power cuts. So, I inserted one of my own cards instead (and turned off all the lights when I left). When I returned in the afternoon, the cleaning staff had disconnected my "workaround". The fridge was then no longer cold. Quite annoying. Why have a fridge if it's disconnected whenever you're away from the room? To avoid this the next day, I used the "Please don't disturb" sign. In spite of this, they came into my room in the morning while I was still asleep - two days in a row. Why? Breakfast costs €12 and is being served till 10.30. I like to sleep to 11, so I bought breakfast/lunch at the Subway 70 metres away instead. Wi-fi free and ok. If I disregard "the fridge incident", I don't really have any complaints.

"Ideal hotel to discover Nice and it's surroundings"
Diederik V, 14 Novembre 2016

Very tidy hotel, great service, friendly staff. Breakfast was elaborate, fresh juices and bread every day. Was here for the marathon and breakfast was sirved at 4.30 am! Not every hotel is willing to do that, i know from experience! Big thank you for that!! Rooms are spacious enough, sometimes a bit cold at night, even wth the heating on, but also very clean and lovely! Bathroom very clean, nice shower! Bit noisy hallway, but that's not the hotel's fault! In only 5 minutes you're at the Place Massena, from where you can walk in every direction to look for some nice places to have brunch, lunch or diner in one of the houndreds of tiny streets and alleys!

"Budget hotel which is punching above its weight "
JJ-24389, 06 Novembre 2016

Everything done to a really high standard. The staff are amazing and they are always willing to help. We didn't use any of the facility's or have the breakfast so I can't comment but I'm sure that they'll be good. The rooms were really big and the bath was massive. Had both a shower and a bath. Would come back here if I was coming back. It's really punching above it's weight. It's easy to get to from the airport using the bus 98. Everything is in walking distance. We also went to Monaco whilst we were there, was super cheap on the train and took about 20 minutes.

"Very reasonable price, great location excellent room!!!"
Vlad A, 30 Octobre 2016

I am very pleased that I have booked this Hotel we have paid less than £60 per night and got junior suite which was excellent. Two bathrooms, sitting area with extra bad, nespresso coffee machine, staff was very friendly everything was perfect!!!

"Great location, great value"
Dina M, 25 Octobre 2016

We booked on Priceline for only $73 per night, so with this great location it was a no-brainer! As many reviews say, location is outstanding, but the else is also great: cleanliness, friendly staff, free WiFi, daily room cleaning, bedding is very comfy. As negatives, I would comment on weak Wi-Fi signal, expensive and bland breakfast. Our room was reasonably sized but shower was smallish even for me (my dress size is 10). I glanced in a room next door, it looked bigger, so there are choices.

"Great location, comfortable and reasonably priced hotel"
JimVag, 19 Octobre 2016

We were most please with the Best Western Hotel Roosevelt. Our room was relatively large for a hotel in France and I guess we were fortunate and had a good spin of the wheel. The room was well decorated and the bed large and comfortable. The hotel staff was helpful and courteous. The hotel offered a breakfast with extensive selections for 12 euros - which is good price for France. Best of all we found the location perfect in terms of walking access to the sights in Nice - a fantastic city by the way. We were driving and the hotel offered a reduced price parking garage nearby. (we did not use the car at all.)

"A great place to visit the French Riviera"
JOYOUS52, 08 Octobre 2016

We were delighted with our stay at this Hotel and were sorry we hadn't booked a longer stay. The staff were great, the rooms were wonderful, the all day help yourself capaccino machine was a big hit too. The Hotel is in a great position from which to discover Nice. The beach is only a few blocks away. There are restaurants galore within walking distance. We were delighted to find a launderette a few blocks away.

"Excellent stay"
shirleyw749, 03 Octobre 2016

Ticked all the boxes and a short walk to cafe restaurants and promenade. Didnt try breakfast. Reception staff very helpful and freindly. Roomed cleaned every day. Excellent double glaxing which shut out noise from street and black out curtains. Cant fault it!

"Great location, stands out in it's class of 3 star hotels"
Tulip T, 01 Octobre 2016

Stayed here for 4 nights. This is my second time staying at this hotel. Location is great, near pedestrian zone with tons of restaurants and 5 minutes to the Promenade. I stayed on the 4th floor. It's one of the better floors. The room has a decent size and has a large bath tub (a big plus). Coffee in the room was good (Nespresso). Breakfast has decent options but after 4 days, it gets old. Breakfast includes (cold cuts, scramble eggs, sausages, crepes, cheese, hard boil eggs, yogurt and bread). The bread was disappointing, not fresh. The croissant tasted like it was left overs. However, the fresh squeeze orange juice is a plus.

"Week in Nice!"
Darran J, 24 Septembre 2016

Stayed 10-17th September. Hotel is in a great location, about a 5 minute walk to sea and 10 minute walk to train station. Small room and shower but was ok for a couple. No frills, decent broadband connection but as per previous comments, more of a fan than proper air conditioning that cools room down but not a massive issue. Very clean hotel which is my main requirement. Make sure you do day trips to Monte Carlo, Antibes, Cannes, VilleFranche, absolutely great! Get there by train. Nice is a lovely place and lots to do, would come again.

"Double room at the Roosevelt"
dddaaaccc, 20 Septembre 2016

I had the pleasure of staying here last night with my partner. Quirky as often Best Westerns are - in this case, a very large bathroom, and a very small lift that only holds two people. Very comfortable bed, excellent television and desk, lots of space, would go back.

"Maybe more suitable for singles or group of friends "
Rickandcat, 10 Septembre 2016

This hotel is definitely a 3 star I do not reccomend this for families it is a bit rundown and has a bit of a odour. The service from the staff is 5 star and the breakfast is well priced and lots to choose from.

"Superb location and very comfortable accommodation in Nice "
4Grey, 26 Août 2016

This hotel exceeded our expectations for our brief 2-day visit to Nice. Our family of 4 (with 2 teenagers) were very comfortable in the spacious family room. The beds were on the hard side but perfect for our preferences. Front desk staff were welcoming and very helpful with information on the whereabouts of different sites around Nice. They serve breakfast for €12 per person; however we walked around the block to one of the local grocery stores to pick up fruit, juice, configure, baguette and croissants for €12 for the four of us, which we ate in our room. Only 2 blocks from Promenade des Anglais, centrally located yet in a quiet area. Highly recommend this hotel.

"Great location "
SPARKY36, 10 Août 2016

Stayed for 5 nights on a room only basis. The hotel is in a good location with many restaurants and cafes nearby. It's easy to get around from here - the promenade, the old town and the rail station are all within easy walking distance. Breakfast at the hotel looked fine but we enjoyed having a stroll each morning and choosing somewhere for a coffee and croissant. The Roosevelt doesn't have a bar but there is a vending machine for soft drinks and snacks. If I have one criticism it would be the air conditioning wasn't sufficiently cool for the summer weather; it felt more like a fan than air con. The staff were all friendly and helpful and spoke English. (views from the hotel pictured)

"Nice staff, poor infrastructure "
Ryan W, 06 Août 2016

I'm currently staying at this hotel and its less than what I expected. First, the staff are polite and helpful. The bed and TV were decent and it has a small but nice bathroom. The main problem is the air conditioning. The front desk claims the card must be used to switch on the room and the heat pump. I can tell you, being around these systems before, they don't work properly. For the small room, the unit should cool it very easily...but it doesn't. The couple I was with had the same problem in their room. So it makes for a kinda warm, kinda muggy feeling throughout the night. Second problem is the WiFi. I had one bar if that. My phone and laptop had trouble. Luckily my work phone has a hotshot and I used that instead. The cost of another $100 router could fix the problem. So if you're expecting a cold room and good wireless, maybe look elsewhere.

"Great location, Friendly staff"
174Travel_Bug, 20 Juillet 2016

Fantastic location only 1 block back from the promenade. Ice machine and coffee machine and pastries a great added bonus. friendly staff. The room was a little small and could use some updating but was clean and comfortable.

"Great location"
jett137, 11 Juillet 2016

Close to all restaurants and shops. Very small room with equally small bathroom. Just the basics. Air conditioning very weak and only works when room key is in room so room never gets cool. Otherwise a decent clean room for a one night stay.

"The worst hotel i've been"
Rafael H, 08 Juillet 2016

This is by far the worst hotel i've been. I'm now on my third room in a 9 days stay. None of the rooms has an air conditioner that works properly. I've made some complaints i nobosy did nothing, I really gave up on the AC. A new chapter is the saga to use the wifi. I am right now in my pijamas, on the hallway, just to make thia complaint. I feel really mistreated!!!!

"Nice location"
Ian M, 22 Juin 2016

Situated in the city centre and just a few minutes stroll from the promenade and some fantastic eating places, Hotel Roosevelt was perfect for our stay in Nice. Hotel staff were great and all were very knowledgeable and friendly. Tha rail station is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel? Although breakfast was not included in our hotel stay, the buffet €12 per person per day was good value and more than adequate for our needs. Enjoyed our stay and would return to Hotel Roosevelt.

"Great location, hotel needs work"
Julie R, 21 Juin 2016

We chose this hotel based on reviews on here. I can tell you, we were so excited to get there and relax after our long flight from the United States, but we were very disappointed. The first room we were given had a smell of musty vomit on the carpet when you walked in the door. The bathroom had a smell of urine on the floor. The Europe Cup 2016 was going on while we were there. The bed was hard as a board and only 2 pillows for the bed, I have a very sensitive nose and couldn't take the smell in the room, we placed baby powder all over the floor where the smell was coming from. I went downstairs and the desk attendant was not able to move us until the next day due to the hotel was sold out. The next day they moved us to a jr suite Rm 306. It was better, but again had a musty smell, the air conditioning is not strong so I think that is contributing to the musty smell. The showers do not drain well, so be prepared to take a short shower. The great thing about the jr. suite is that there are 2 bathrooms, the bed is larger and softer and has a great sitting area. Even if it is a couple I highly suggest the jr. suite if you can afford it. We had the breakfast buffet each day. It was sufficient for what we wanted. It is in a great location. 10 minute walk to the train.

"Great location"
cfm0520, 17 Juin 2016

Walking distance to everything in Nice. 15 minutes to the train station that runs the coast from Monaco to St. Tropez. We stayed the weekend of the Grand Prix and had to prepay for a four night stay. The rate was expensive for this hotel. You get a clean room that is reasonably appointed. I would stay here again if I could get their normal rates. The elevator is extremely small. Two people with bags need to make two trips. The staff was friendly and pleasant.

"Beautiful Hotel"
Lisa G, 09 Juin 2016

This hotel was just in a lovely location in Nice with beautiful rooms complete with a balcony. We arrived here by fluke as our accommodations previously arranged were double booked. Needless to say it was a difficult day and we arrived here exhausted and discouraged. The completely bilingual staff immediately put us at ease and went out of their way to accommodate us. There was parking (what a relief) and a lovely full breakfast for a reasonable amount was optional. The wifi was free but you had to keep signing in!! The only minus if the staff had tried to find us accommodation at their sister hotel we would have booked as they were full and we were so discouraged. Otherwise a great stay as per usual at Best Western.

"Great Hotel!"
Greeneeee, 09 Juin 2016

This hotel is a hidden gem. Clean, great staff and beautiful breakfast We had a family room with a double and 2 twins for our teenagers. It was a block from all the main restaurants and shops and 3 blocks from the beach. The walk to the restaurants was down a tree, lined street. My husband and I have traveled all over the world in 3 to 5 star hotels and we would stay here again!

"Fantastic Hotel"
Sneha198, 06 Juin 2016

Very good hotel, well located, walking distance from all the attractions in NICE...... promenade, shopping, train station etc. Clean big rooms, had taken a suite for 3 people , the people at the front desk very helpful.

""Location make life easier""
Tapanapong, 05 Juin 2016

This's my first time in France and Nice. This hotel is really in a city center and you can go somewhere in Nice very easy. Staffs are great service. Especially the Front office they show attractions area on the map and help me to get a salon for a hair cut. Excellent service and I'll be back if I have chance.

"Fantastic week in Nice"
Margaret M, 02 Juin 2016

Hotel situated close to train station which runs an excellent service we travelled to , Grasse, Cannes and mont carlo by train and once you have bought ticket to destination you are free to get off at places along the line using the same ticket We were entitled to seniors fare and return trip to Monti Carlo (20mins) was 6euro each!! The hotel staff and their manager were fantastic and always a smile greeted us when we returned after a day's sightseeing Would reccomend the open top bus tour in Monti Carlo

"Great hotel in centre of Nice"
emmag-88, 16 Mai 2016

I stayed here for 4 nights in April with my partner and was very pleased with the hotel. The room was clean, refreshed daily, and had all the amenities you would expect, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was nice and clean, with complimentary toiletries, and we had a small balcony overlooking the side street too. There was a large TV, and the bed was really quite large and comfortable, and there was no problem when I asked for an additional pillow. The wi-fi worked well throughout our stay. In the foyer there was a snack and drink vending machine, and there was a complimentary ice machine too. The location was great for us to explore Nice and further afield. Only 5 or so minutes from the sea, and a little further to the Old Town. The train station was only about 10 minute walk away, which was handy as we had a couple of day trips out to Monaco and Eze, and Cannes and Antibes. We had breakfast included in our rate. There was a really good selection of food and drinks, including fresh bread and pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurts, crepes, cereals, scrambled egg, sausages, meats, cheeses, and it was all replenished throughout the morning. You can also use the coffee machine, and there are pastries available during the day. The reason for not giving 5 stars was that our check-in experience wasn't great. If I could 4 and a half stars, I would! The person who checked us in seemed to just be covering the desk for someone for a short while, and didn't give us a lot of information (for example, I had to ask what our room number was, and we had to go back later to get a map of the city) Although he was very pleasant, he just didn't seem very experienced in checking guests in. Most of the other staff we encountered were very pleasant (especially the gentleman with glasses who worked most evenings). I would definitely stay at the hotel again, good value for money, and would recommend to friends visiting Nice.

"Our April stay 2016"
dianed51, 15 Mai 2016

This is a friendly hotel and efficient. English speaking reception. Will keep your bags for you if you are early, that's a nice touch. Room was small with 2 twin beds but comfortable. Were charged for 3 breakfasts even though we didn't eat there. They do not keep track of who is eating when you come down. Breakfast was nice and adequate. Our only problem was mosquitos!! We had 70 degree weather which is warm for that time of year.

"Location,location,location.."
dogrose64, 13 Mai 2016

Old town, promenade, train station, restaurants and shopping areas all within walking distance makes this an ideal hotel for a break in Nice. The hotel was clean and staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was of a good size and quiet as it faced away from street. The hotel does not have a full restaurant or bar, but there are plenty of places within minutes. It does serve breakfast but we did not try it so I am unable to comment. All in all would recommend as good value in a ideal location.

"Wonderful Hotel Close to Everything"
singshinetravel, 04 Mai 2016

This hotel was a great hotel for it's location. We could easily get to the center of town, the beach, old town, the port, and trains and buses quickly. We had free coffee at the hotel every morning, which was really nice. We didn't end up having their breakfast, as there were so many local shoppes nearby that we wanted to try. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Most of them spoke English and they helped us find restaurants and let us know where the locals go in town. We are from the New York area, so we know about tourist traps and wanted to feel like locals. They also helped us map out cities and places to go, when we were confused. A few things that surprised us were that you have to leave your key with them every time you leave the building. You then pick it up each time you come in. It wasn't a problem, but just something you will have to keep in your mind. The key also turns on the lights in the room. They also don't have conditioner in the rooms, but I am back home now and stopped using it, as I realized my hair seems healthier without it. Be careful leaving the balcony windows open at night. We left them open and were pretty badly bitten by some type of bug. We ended up putting a do not disturb sign on our door the last couple of days, so that the cleaning lady wouldn't open the windows. They also have a tiny elevator that fits four people, but is more for two people, unless you want to be super close. They upgraded us, since it was our wedding anniversary, which was really nice. The room was a decent size and had a safe and a refrigerator inside. That was helpful because we were able to buy fresh yogurt and cheese and store them in the refrigerator. They have some English channels on the tv and air conditioning and heat. The front desk was available 24/7, which was also nice! I would definitely recommend this hotel to people who want to really explore the city and walk everywhere or travel to different cities. If you are looking for a room to hang in and enjoy the scenery, then I would look for a different hotel. It was the best choice for what we were looking for on our trip. We traveled to Monaco, St. Jean Cap Ferrat, Eze, Antibes, Grasse, and VilleFranche and this was the perfect area to be in to get to all of those places.

"Value for money"
panacheMerseyside, 25 Avril 2016

Stayed here for three nights with friends, room great but shower not so good, seemed to leak which ever way you pointed it had to put towels outside, good location and value for money, staff were lovely and very pleasant, dining room a little small if busy, breakfast good for money

"Wonderful stay in a convenient location"
NfromtheATL, 10 Avril 2016

We only stayed one night in Nice after a 10 day stay in Grasse and found the Best Western Roosevelt to be a great place for our last night in France. The reception staff was superb. The location was terrific. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well appointed.

"Great value well kept hotel in good location"
WiganChris1968, 09 Avril 2016

Based on price and what you get for your money, I think this hotel represents excellent value for money especially when compared to other hotels in Nice. The hotel is in a good location, 10 min walk to the beach or the other way to the train station, the hotel is in a quieter part of the city. The staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful and spoke English The room we had was clean, slavery enough for two of us, it had a fridge, tv, hairdryer, coffee and tea making facilities, a corkscrew if you take a bottle of wine back with you Breakfasts cost 12 Euro per person, eat as much as you want but continental style There is no bar, however there is a vending machine for drinks and snacks plus free ice. Umbrellas are available for free There is a very nice wine bar worth trying on the same road 10 doors down, well worth a try for the relaxed atmosphere but not cheap Overall enjoyable stay a credit to all the staff and management

"Easter in Nice"
Marie H, 26 Mars 2016

Good location only a couple of blocks from the Promenade des Anglais and with walking distance to old town. Very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in a nice minisuite with a little balcony. Really good to be a 3star Hotel in France. Excellent service. Will definitely come back.

"Very comfortable stay"
fabboAustralia, 26 Mars 2016

We stayed here for two nights travelling from Italy to France. The hotel was excellent, room clean and comfortable, bathroom clean, tea and coffee making facilities and a very comfy bed. Good breakfast selection for small charge and excellent location near the beach and main avenue. Staff friendly and helpful. What else is there to say - I was sorry to leave!!!

"This one is a gem in this area!"
aarbter, 24 Février 2016

The hotel is located in the city center and not far away from the beach. You can request parking (the garage is not far away), but there is also public paid parking available round the hotel premise (Sunday is for free!). The Wifi was for free, breakfast was not in my room arrangement. When booking ask for a room on the higher floors, towards the street - thy come with a balcony and a nice view of the streets around. The rooms are typical French size, maybe on the bigger end - but not as spacious as one is used from other countries. Still very comfortable, and also English TV channels on the TV. Would for sure be my 1st choice when going back to Nice.

"Nice little gem of a hotel"
7joseanneg, 17 Février 2016

Great location, clean hotel with great amenities! Rooms modern and spacious! Nice coffee machine with complimentary coffee for the morning! Staff very helpful and accomodating.Modern decor with restaurant on premises!

"Loved this hotel! Will definitely return!"
665jim, 15 Février 2016

It had everything we wanted - great location, excellent helpful friendly staff, larger rooms than we have usually found in European hotels, clean and comfortable rooms. Nice breakfast although not free. Coffee machines and pastries available all day were a nice touch. Wifi generally worked. Great hot water! Elevator small but always worked. Our room was quiet even though it overlooked the street, and we had a balcony. It's very near Place Massena and rue Jean Medecin, so we could walk to all the central places and take the convenient tram or buses elsewhere. Easy walk to beach. We got a "junior suite" which was perfect for the two of us (grandparents), and our 8-year-old granddaughter who had a nice bed in an adjoining area, which also had a small desk where we could set up our computer.

"Centrally located with helpful staff"
Deb B, 13 Février 2016

Close to railroad station, bus stops, numerous and varied restaurants, and abundant shopping. All of the staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and eager to assist in any way. Clean, quiet room with very comfortable bed. Highly recommend!

"Central location great for short break"
philng200, 06 Février 2016

Really enjoyed our Feb stay in Nice great sunny weather first 2 days. Hotel reception very friendly and free coffee machine and pastries available 24 hours a day. We had a room for 3 which was a good size with 3rd bed a proper bed. Beds comfortable. Situation was great just 5 mins to prom and shops. Would recommend hotel.

"Great central spot and quiet and clean"
Carolyn_rachel, 24 Janvier 2016

My boyfriend and I went to Nice for a long weekend in March 2015. So easy to get from the airport to the centre (just one bus that is about 20 minutes along the beautiful coast road). The hotel is a few roads back from the coast and is 15 minutes walk at most (SNCF station is another 15-20 minutes walk where you get the train across to Ventimiglia, Italy) Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Room wasn't huge (nice bathroom though) but we were going to be mainly out and about exploring so wasn't a big deal. Quiet area which is good (for those who like a good night's sleep!). Breakfast was available but we didn't use it. Wi-Fi in rooms too as well as TV with all the usual news and local channels. We would definitely stay again. I can't comment on price as it was booked as a surprise trip but having stayed at Best Westerns before, I'm sure it was good value.

"affortable nice hotel"
HesterLiu, 16 Décembre 2015

The triple room is comfortably spacious, bath room is clean and big enough, the beds are comfy. Wifi is free but not the breakfast. Hotel provides umbrella for guests. We do like the shoe cleaning/shining gadget since we did lots of walking. The location is good, not too busy.

"Well located, good visit"
MrJohn1960, 14 Novembre 2015

Really enjoyed our visit here. A warm welcome on arrival, we were far too early so our case was stored safely so we could get off to enjoy the lovely sunny October weather. We found the staff here to be very friendly and helpful, particularly the young man who we found extremely helpful (sorry we forgot his name). The hotel is well located, 10 mins from the promenade, 5 mins from restaurants and 5 mins from the railway station. For us this was perfectly located for a short break to enjoy Nice, Monaco Antibes and Cannes. We were allocated a good room on the 4th floor which was perfectly adequate for the price we paid. Tea and coffee in the room was appreciated and the fridge was useful for storing drinks. Overall a very enjoyable stay in a good hotel which is well located with some good friendly staff. Thank you Best Western Roosevelt. On a personal note, vive la France, my heart is with the lovely people in your country following the Paris atrocities, so very sad.

"Worst "Best" Western"
Muhanad A, 30 Octobre 2015

This hotel by far provides the worst service on earth...It's ran by a bunch of inexperienced staff that have no idea how to manage a hotel. From check in to check-out everything was bad! I walked-in in the afternoon around 1:15 ~ 1:20 pm to check-in and I was competently "ignored" by 3 girls standing in the reception area and chatting with each other for a good 2~3 minutes. They seemed to be training one of the girls. Finally after I said something one of the girls acknowledged me. I told her that I have a reservation and gave her my passport and she immediately without even looking further responded "But check in is not until 2 pm" Ok, fine! You got me so I said that I am aware of that but I was wondering if my room is available and she can check me in 30~40 min early. Of course it took another 5-7 min to look for my reservation and when she finally found it, she goes again " I have your room available but check in is 2 pm" I was like are you joking? Why are you telling me my room is clean and available then keep repeating the same thing over and over?! You are not doing me a favor by checking me in early. I paid for this reservation!! Then finally after another 5 min, one of the 3 girls checked me in and gave me the keys but with the attitude of “How dare you check-in 30 min early”. Mind you that the entire time, I am just standing there not understanding what they are trying to do as they were scrambling through paper and calling people on the phone. What they didn't know, is that I speak French and I can understand every word they were saying. It's like they were trying to get an approval from the president of the hotel just to check me in...The second problem occurred when I noticed that their wifi blocked VPN connections so I wasn't able to connect to my work domain. After going back and forth with again one of the girls, she finally realized that I needed more than just a restart to the router. She keeps telling me that she will call the internet provider to have them help me.And she keeps telling that they will call me back within 30 min, literally at least 3 times within 3 hours. Every time I checked with her, she would say oh maybe in 30 minutes or will call them tomorrow or in the next 10 mins...This back and forth went on and on for two days. I was about to lose my last nerve. And finally on day 3 when I really lost it and started to freak out on them, they finally connected me with someone who was able to help me. I had access to the wifi for 2 hours then it was down again for the rest of my stay. No one seemed to care or realize that I needed to work and I had to have access to the wifi. I explained that to them several times and they didn't even apologies for their mistakes or at least offer an alternative solution. Every time I checked with the reception, they just give the "It's not our problem" face. Except one young guy, I didn't get his name but he was so nice and very helpful. He tried his best to help me and even offered me a cable to try to connect my laptop directly hardwire but unfortunately he couldn't resolve the issue. But at least he tried to go above and beyond unlike the other useless employees. Also, one of the nights a friend of mine tried to visit me passed 11 pm and one of the receptionist stopped him and told him that visitors are not allowed but he will let him go up anyway?? What's wrong with those people?! They seemed to want to make you feel that everything they do for you is a favor and it's not their job!! Then finally as I was checking out on my 3 day, the person who checked me out tried to make me pay for the reservation that I already pre-paid for on hotels.com. And he also claimed that I had breakfast on the first day I checked in, and I should pay another 12 euro. This was clearly another mistake because I checked in after their breakfast serving hours. And finally, after he was convinced that I didn't have breakfast and my reservation was pre-paid we realized the taxi that one of the girls supposedly ordered for me the night before, didn't show up. He was kind enough to call and order a taxi for me. I think they never even scheduled one to begin with....This place is clearly ran by a bunch of mediocre staff that has no sense of urgency or understanding to quality customer service.

"Lovely big bedroom, friendly staff, good location"
AlexGee69, 29 Octobre 2015

Lovely big bedroom unlike most hotels these days, good location within short walk of shops, restaurants etc and the Promenade. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Hotel is very clean. Dining room rather small and right beside the main entrance door, but not a big issue.

"Lovely Hotel and in a great location"

"Nice hotel in the centre of NIce"
Marcus R, 25 Octobre 2015

We had a lovely stay at the Best Western Roosevelt. The hotel is ideally located in the centre of Nice and is an easy walk to everything (beaches, shopping, old town etc). Compared to many other hotels in the same area it is great value for money. The staff were lovely and incredibly friendly. The room was small (although bigger than many other hotels I have stayed in in France) with great free wifi, a really comfortable queen-size bed, tea-and-coffee making facilities, a fridge and balcony. The room was very clean and well maintained and there was a (very very) small lift. We traveled with a baby and the hotel was very baby-friendly. We would be happy to stay here again. Also, the staff at the hotel told us about a little pizza place (Snack Pizza) on Rue du Marechal Joffre (near the corner of Rue du Marechal Joffre and Rue du Dr Barety - about 250m from the hotel) that is very popular with the locals. It doesn't look fancy at all (I almost didn't go in)... but the pizzas were amazing and simply incredible value (5.5euros for a full-size pizza and a drink!!). The pizzas are as good, if not better, than any other pizza I have eaten on the South of France.

"A return visit"
Barry L, 24 Octobre 2015

this is the 5th time I have stayed here and there has been improvement in Décor. it is a very typical hotel for the area and it is always a pleasure to return. I hope that I am able to re-visit next year round about the same time - the weather is usually good. I would recommend this hotel to any person that likes the cotes d'azur

"Great moderate option in expensive Nice"
BarrioTravelers, 07 Octobre 2015

This is the kind of property where you have to remind yourself it's just the place where you're going to sleep, not the reason you're in Nice. It's a solid three-star hotel in the hear of the city within walking distance to the coastline, shops and restaurants. You can also walk to it from train station. Staff is fantastic, no doubt about it. Rooms could use a little upgrading and a better design. WiFi was very good. They also have a great coffee/tea/hot chocolate machine out all day and available to guests. Little pastries are also available at no cost. It's a very nice touch. Nice is very expensive, the Roosevelt is definitely a good bargain.

"Absolute Best of Best Western Hotels!!"
mcingh, 03 Octobre 2015

Stayed as a family last week for four nights ( so wish we could have stayed longer). This hotel was by far the best we encountered over our five weeks of travel both in terms of standards and customer service and I am perplexed by the 3 star rating!!! Our room was huge by European Standards along with the beds we also had club chair, coffee table, desk with two chairs, wardrobe and lugguage racks, added bonus of tea/coffee facilities in room, the bathroom was also big and well stocked; both rooms beautifully appointed and very clean.. The staff were exceptional we were warmly welcomed by reception and the gentleman who booked us in was very helpful with handy hints and recommended good places to dine and even rang to book a table for us to eat and we were not disappointed with his recommendation, nothing was too much trouble and we were always acknowledged with a warm smile and greeting when coming and going.. Hotel Roosevelt is an 15-20 min walk (flat) from Nice Ville Train Station and 30-40min drive (in traffic) from Nice Airport, 4 min walk to main shopping strip, 2 mins to old town where there is plenty of restaurants to choose from and 5-10 mins from beach. Hint if you want to go swimming/sunbaking the beaches tend to be mostly pebbles so good idea to get the train further out of Nice to nearby villages. Highly highly recommend this hotel..

"A nice hotel in Nice!"
Lia513, 30 Septembre 2015

It is a nice hotel in the very good location in Nice center, on the street of Boutiques. We had superior room and it was clean, very spacious with wide comfy bed, balcony and espresso machine in the room. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel and regretted later as we heard that it was good. It was a nice experience - thank you!

"Excellent hotel"
User, 28 Septembre 2015

The room was clean and spacious for 4 people. The staff was friendly and helpful. You can see the effort they put in to answer questions and also help book and recommend tours. The hotel is in an ideal location. It's a 10 minute walk from the old town. There's also restaurants within 5 minute walk if you like somethung quick. It's also a 10-minute walk from the train station about 20 minute drive to the airport. Also an easy 10-minute walk to the beach.

"5 Stars for a 3 Star Hotel"
kalekr, 26 Septembre 2015

Great location: walking distance with luggage from Nice Ville train station, to Rue Massena and to the Promenade des Anglais. Very friendly and helpful staff especially Emmanual, Emily and Nabil... booked an 8 hour tour for us... their recommendation of Med-Tours lived up to their trust in this company. Healthy breakfast with many options in a modern, cheerful dining area. The room and hallways were warmly decorated... our room had a balcony... excellent wifi. Neighborhood felt very safe. Housekeeping was well done. Would definitely stay here again.

"Standard hotel in a great location !"
nflorian, 25 Septembre 2015

People were very helpful and with a smile (rare in Nice) which included the cleaning staff, the evening staff etc- Service was very good! Great coffee machine in your clean room. We chose not to have breakfast but everyone seemed satisfied. Starbucks is only a 5 minute walk from here. If you plan to only sleep in your hotel this is perfect ..... but some things to be aware of : -Stopping your car in front of the hotel is nearly impossible. -no bus boy or concierge ready to help you unload. -Internet is weak and spotty. -One little elevator, large enough for two suitcases and a person. -Our shower was weak and our carpet had stains but was clean.

"Comfort but noisy location"
stewart054, 24 Septembre 2015

We had a good sized impressively decorated room, although small bathroom. Kind and friendly at reception on check-in (leaving bags prior to room availability), departure and check-out (our baggage secured until flight). There is a hospitality tray in the room (which quite a few hotels lack). The hotel is in a central position, ideal for city streets, sightseeing, restaurants, etc., but found our room suffered from traffic noise. The train station and bus for the airport are within walking distance. Bus 98 to the promenade area may be the best for this hotel but bus 99 goes to the train station and walk down the main street to the hotel (cost is 6 Euros, pay on the bus and take your luggage on board). Tip: establish the airport terminal you are travelling from as our bus (no. 98) terminated at terminal 2 and we had to be shuttled on another bus to T1. The driver / staff could not tell us our terminal - you will be expected to know! We were asked which terminal Norwegian aIr departs from!

"the apparence of the advert on website looked nothing to reality."
John Terence S, 22 Septembre 2015

The Hotel rooms were very small, The television was impossible to listen to as it was set at low sound level. The beds were uncomfortable, the window were very narrow the view was the hotel next door, I have never seen a lift so small , it was supposed to hold three people but you just got two people in. at a squeeze, after seeing a young women struggling with a baby in a small buggy she had to squash herself close to the inside of the lift, a lady with 2 fair sized suitcase, had difficulty getting in so I looked after one case when she went to her room then came back for her other case, I can not see us ever coming back to this hotel.

"STANDARDS MAINTAINED AT HOTEL ROOSEVELT"
ASutherland186534, 15 Septembre 2015

Third visit to this good value, centrally sited hotel where friendly staff welcomed us back to the same room, as my wife is blind and appreciates familiar surroundings. Thoroughly recommended once more especially as booking via the hotel website includes a splendid breakfast with fruit, cereals etc and a hot option -- not merely croissants and coffee although both of course are also available. No bar, garden or evening meal but who needs them when everything is within easy walking distance; good bars and restaurants; all the shops as well. Personal service makes this our top choice in Nice, having been disappointed at far "swankier" hotels on the Promenade which is only a short walk away. Many thanks to all the staff -- very professional people all with vg language skills

"Still A Good Choice - Especially For Diet Problems"
Mike330, 12 Septembre 2015

We last stayed here 11 years ago, and the hotel has certainly improved, most noticeably in the breakfast room, which is now more spacious and welcoming. I was particularly impressed that the hotel had responded to my request for gluten-free bread and soya milk at breakfast, for which there is an wide and varied choice. The lift however is still cramped - little room for more than 3 people. We enjoyed our stay. The only slight niggles: the room lighting was subdued, and I found my bed a little too hard (my wife said hers was fine). On the plus side, we appreciated the provision of a fridge that was purely for our own use, and a safe that was free of charge.

"Good hotel, great location"
catmouse, 12 Septembre 2015

Stayed here for four nights on vacation in a superior room. The room had more space than I expected and was OK to sit in. Ours overlooked the street and there's no hiding away from the street noise, at least when the window is open. You're in Nice and the streets are noisy! Room was equiped with a Nespresso machine which was great and the beds were OK. Bathroom was fine, nothing really to point out, except that the shower didn't give out much water. You needed some patience. We had breakfast on one day. At 12 EUR it's not unreasonable, for a reasonable buffet, but there are plenty of other places just outside if you're happy with just say a cafe, croissant and orange juice.at half that price. The location is great, a few steps from the pedestrian area and just a few steps from the tram and buses. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The wifi worked well, except you had to login each time you came back to the hotel, no big deal, just enter the code and any fake e-mail address will connect you.

"Good location, average standard."
Lisa S, 12 Septembre 2015

The hotel is situated close to the old town, the shopping street and the beach, so it's in a good location! However, some of the rooms are pretty dated. We traveled as a group, and while some of us were very happy with the rooms, my roomie and I got a room overlooking a scruffy backyard, and outside our window hung no less than 4 air condition units. This made it near impossible to sleep with the window open, and to top it off, there was carpet flooring which didn't smell too nice. We had to pay extra for the breakfast, 12€ per day, and it was pretty basic, not worth the cost. Except from that, the stay was pleasant. The room was equipped with tv, safe, fridge and kettle, and there was free coffe in the reception area after breakfast. All in all, not too bad, but not great.

"Great Location in Nice!"
kchew3, 27 Août 2015

For the price this hotel was fine. The location is great, walking distance to the beach, flower market and main square. The walls are paper thin though so not ideal. Our neighbors returned to their room at midnight and proceeded to slam doors and yell. Second night they did the same at 11 pm so we were coherent enough to call the front desk. They did quiet down after a call from them. Hotel is clean with a very courteous staff.

"A very good three star"
MagsPalBathgate, 27 Août 2015

Great location, staff, breakfasts and cleanliness. The room we got initially was very small but the staff changed it for us. No fuss, no hassle, everybody was extremely nice and pleasant. Never book room only, the buffet breakfast was very good value and quality

"Long Weekend "
Steventat, 26 Août 2015

Picked hotel because of the family room to accommodate ourselves and two teenage sons. Check in was quick room was more than adequate for our needs. Breakfast was very nice and hotel was in a good location with the added bonus of a fridge in the room ideal for promenade and train station.Staff were all helpful would have no hesitation in staying again.

"Great hotel"
Akos K, 24 Août 2015

Great location, food, room, everything was amazing. And the staff was super friendly! If you want to have a good experience in Nice I highly recommend this hotel weather by car or by airplance. :) L))

"Ideally situated in the heart of Nice"
Eve C, 20 Août 2015

We spent three nights in the Hotel Roosevelt in August. We had chosen a Best Western Hotel because the previous year we had stayed for three nights in one in Cannes and been happy with the large room size, the location and the additional outdoor space and roof terrace. On booking Hotel Roosevelt we knew there was no roof terrace but had not realised the rooms would be quite as small. They are adequate though and adequately furnished with fridge, TV, coffee and tea making facilities and a small en suite. The second issue with this hotel is the traffic noise which can be avoided by booking a room at the rear of the hotel. The front and the side of the hotel have quite noisy roads. On the plus side this hotel is ideally located near the seafront and the old town with varied restaurants and bars nearby. It is in the heart of Nice and a brilliant location for exploring the town. The reception area is bright and welcoming and the staff were very helpful. The breakfasts were excellent at 12 euros to include eggs, sausages, cereals, fruit, cheese, cold meats, and even sun dried tomatoes!

"we love this hotel"

It was the best summer vacation in Nice. We stayed in this hotel several times. But this time we had a room with back yard view. I was a bit upset because of it but finally understood it was a great...

"Great location, spotless"

"France Vacation"
Dolores S, 07 Juin 2015

We visited France, several days in Paris and 3 days in Nice. We stayed at the Best Western in Nice. Great location, near to the beaches and shopping areas as well as the tram. Extremely helpful front desk staff. They suggested restaurants and tours that were great. They also provided assistance with public transportation and advice on getting around. The room was adequate. The size good based on European standards. Good closet space and lots of hangers. Good strong shower spray (water pressure). WiFi provided. Breakfast is a choice (but we did not take this option). Bed was comfortable. Air conditioner was inconsistent in keeping room comfortable and the directions for using it were difficult to understand. Toilet is separate from the rest of the bathroom, which has its benefit, but the sink is located in the bathroom so you have to walk through the bedroom to wash your hands. Overall, an excellent experience.

"Golden wedding anniversary in Nice"
Richard M, 29 Mars 2015

We went to Nice and the Best Western Hotel Roosevelt as part of our Golden Wedding anniversary celebrations. We could not have chosen a better hotel for it's price, central location, size and comfort of our room and the friendliness of the staff

"Retired to Travel"
Elliott P, 11 Octobre 2014

The area the hotel is located in is nice with a great old town experience. The lobby and breakfast area is nice and clean. The staff is helpful. The rooms are dated and some rooms smell awful. The rooms that have been updated, the workmanship is poor. Breakfast is not free to those that receive a special internet rate, example, AAA. We do not recommend this hotel.

"Location, Location"
Suren K, 29 Juillet 2014

Good for its location..! It is located 5 minutes to beach, 7 -8 minutes to Massena Square, 10 minutes from train station..... However, if you require hi speed wifi then you are going to be disappointed! Don't expect a spacious bedroom or elevator...

We found this to be an excellent accommodation, well situated, a top professional front desk staff who went above and beyond. We were also impressed with the breakfast provided as well as the great service.
