The Best Western Hotel Riviera is ideally located in the city center, in the praised Musicians Area and 250 meters from the Nice Ville central railway station, the hotel welcomes you to Nice and opens the doors of the Cote d'Azur. You will reach the beach and the celebrated Promenade des Anglais within ten minutes through the pedestrian area and its couturier shops. Stroll through the Old Town, with its palaces, baroque churches, countless shops, its world famous flower market and its tiny serpentine alleys. Follow them to end up in the splendid 'Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain (MAMAC)'. Climb the Castle Hill to catch breathtaking views of Angle Bay. Back to the Best Western Hotel Riviera, don't fail to proceed to the nearby Cathedral St. Nicolas, the largest Russian orthodox building outside Russia, to get a surreal and exotic glimpse of the late 19th and early 20th centuries Russian legacy. Marc Chagall was a long-time Riviera resident. His Biblical Message is housed in the purpose-built museum within walking distance from the hotel. If you feel attracted by the glittering atmosphere of Monaco, the train will carry you there in less than 20 minutes from the nearby station. It will take 30 minutes to reach Cannes by train. The Best Western Hotel Riviera offers 48 rooms fully renovated in 2009, with air-conditioning, satellite television, refrigerator, hairdryer and double glazing windows. Enjoy your stay. « Holiday »

Stayed for a few nights. Reception was helpful and manned. Rooms were nice and clean. Very quiet even though road is nearby. Will stay here again. Train st nearby. Lift was small but other than that no issues. Breakfast served was of normal standard. Happy to return here

We ended up at this hotel in error, having thought we had booked one with a very similar name halfway between the railway station and the Promenade des Anglais. However, despite the tiny room and lack of space, we found it in a good location for the railway station, being a mere five minute walk away and as we were using Nice as a base to explore some of the towns along the coast by train, it suited us well. The staff were all very friendly and spoke a variety of languages and it was clean. Our only real criticism was that we had asked for a twin room and there was barely room to swing the proverbial cat, even after we had moved the furniture around a little to accommodate our suitcases etc. A lovely touch we thought was that between 6pm and 8 pm every evening, the hotel showcased different local wines, charcuterie, olives etc. This was an opportunity not only to try out different foods but to chat to other guests.

    « Fabulous service »

Great hotel, location was fine for us and we were three women, never felt it was unsafe....walkable to a lot of restaurants etc. Hotel itself - great staff, friendly, helpful...we had a triple room, spacious, spotless, tea/coffee and fridge...more than adequate. Happy Culture from 6 till 8 pm a lovely way to sit and chat with other guests, get tips, recommendations etc...all in all a great stay - luggage kept till evening - would definately go back!

    « Top Notch »

We arrived on Monday, great staff, nice clean comfortable room, blackout curtains with comfortable bed made sleep easy. Just 2 mins from train station and 15 from the beach in a great location, no security fears in hotel or outside, lovely city. We have just returned from Monaco ( 15 mins on train ) and it was just breathtaking.

« Perfect Stay in Nice »

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was large and clean with wifi, own bathroom, safe and fridge. Check in and check out were really easy and all the staff were really helpful. There is a happy hour between 6pm and 8pm every night which was a very nice touch. There is also a Nespresso machine in reception another nice touch which adds to the HappyCulture.

« Good location, wonderful staff »

A few minutes walk from Gare Niceville train station. Exit station, turn right, about 5 mins walk to hotel, same street. At no time did we feel unsafe walking in the night, although it was a bit quiet with not much people walking around. The staff were very helpful, especially Valentino, who was very attentive and helped with whatever questions we had. He is a very pleasant young man and even conversed with us on several topics. We needed ice and he also provided it as well. Wifi in the room gave some problems but that was easily remedied by Valentino. Worked well after that. Room size was ok. We had a room at the front. We were able to leave a package at reception to be picked-up by some friends of ours who live about 1 hour outside of Nice. The hotel kept this package for almost 3 weeks until it was eventually pick-up about 1 week ago. After returning home I communicated with the Hotel regarding this package and they promptly replied to let me know whether it was picked up or not. If I could not leave the package I would have had to return home with it across the Atlantic. This was greatly appreciated !! Again, Valentino and Carole helped a lot with this. Loved the Happy Hour, the hotel provided free wine, lemonade and snacks, dips included, in the reception area. Something different and appreciated. Nespresso machine in reception area. A few tips: Exit the Hotel, make a right, go pass the train station and the next major intersection is Ave Jean Medicine. This is a major street with shopping, restaurants and grocery stores. Just on the corner of Ave Thiers and Jean Medicine you can pickup the tram, which runs right along Jean Medicine and takes you to Place Massena pass Fontana del Soleil and the statue of Apollo etc. The direction of the tram would say "Hopital Pasteur." Coming back to the hotel the direction of tram would say "Henri Sappia." If you prefer to walk it is about 20 mins. Few minutes walk to Promenade des Anglais from this area. If you are going to pick up the Bus #100 to Monaco, then you sit on the tram until it gets to Place Girabaldi, get off here then walk down Rue Cassini (this is one of the streets around this square) walk to end of street and make a slight left and you will see Notre Dame du Port Church, the bus to Monaco is opposite the church. Hope this helps. Again, thank you to the hotel staff, particularly Valentino, for making our stay enjoyable and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

    « Pleasantly surprised! »

For a city hotel, this was very very good. Only negative was the room, it was a bit small with very little storage but we only slept and got ready in the room so it was still ideal for our holiday. Staff were extremely accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Facilities excellent and wifi - which we could get in our room. Would definitely stay there again.

« Good location and price »

If your trip to Nice is about visiting the city rather than hanging out in the hotel, I'd recommend this hotel. Clean, tidy, professional staff and nearby the promenade and the old town ( walking distance 15 mins). I'd stay here again for the value.

« It could have been better »

I went here with my family. It's near the city centre but the area isn't the nicest place. Particularly at night it didn't feel very safe and coming from London it's saying something. The hotel was very pretty standard and the room was clean. I wasn't particularly impressed with the bathroom. It looked like it could have benefited with a bit of a touch up with paint. The first day we didn't have any complimentary soap and shower gel. I had to alert the housekeeping to get that sorted for the next day. The service was average. Overall we didn't have any big issues with the place but at the same time we weren't particularly impressed.

« No WiFi in Rooms »

The hotel was inexpensive and exceeded my expectations. It is located close to the main train station in Nice, and it is easy to find because you won't even to make turns. Just come out of the station, walk down the street and there it is. Staff is very friendly, and there is free ice cream, free wine and snacks. There is even a Nepresso machine in the hallway. There is even a small refrigerator in the room, which is rare for this type of hotel! However, elevator is small and there is no WiFi in the rooms. I came to ask the staff why WiFi was not working, and they were unable to figure out. WiFi does connect in the lobby, so it must mean that my room was too far from the lobby to get connected. Everything else was great. They use toiletries from Galimard which is a famous perfume factory in the area, and that is a plus! Room is not too small or too big. Air conditioning a big noisy but that really does not bother.

    « Horrible »

Hotel located near the railway station. Dangerous place full of drug dealers, thieves, tramps and prostitutes at every hour. Dirt everywhere. we were in 2 adults in the same Room. Terrible, there is no space in the room to move, too small. The air conditioning works very badly. Internet too. They changed the room but same problems. We had to get down to work, but there is too much confusion, hotel without spaces. PC for guests was not working well. I asked why did not work well and the receptionist, then qualified as hotel manager, she was allowed to tell me why you do not use your devices, but which kind of anser is that? She is very rude and very arrogant, hysterical, does not know the education and not at all professional. He said write ome review, we not care. None respect for paying guests! Our stay was a nightmare. Forget this hotel.Hotel shabby and expensive for no one good service. Forget taxi very very expensive and a lot illegal.

    « Disappointed. »

Spent quite a bit to stay at this hotel a couple of nights during the last stages of a 3 1/2 week trip to France & Italy. While the location was in close proximity to the train station & within relatively easy walking distance to the major sites of interest, the condition of the hotel left much to be desired. The service staff were great & helpful & breakfast was adequate, but that couldn't overcome the shortcomings of the hotel itself. It really needs a major overhaul to bring it up to the expectations of patrons expecting a 4-star, or even 3-star experience. Not recommended.

« Staff that makes the different »

Yes, the hotel might need a renovation and the rooms are a bit small. However the location is excellent and the service of the staff is outstanding. Such a service makes the difference! From welcome to check out. Service orientation on the highest level found in France!!! :) Thank you!

    « Mr »

We reached the hotel evening of 8th July 2016, we were received by Adama, checking in was so fast... The hotel is few meters from Nice trainstation, therefore you wont need taxi or car hire... you can walk 500m to reach promenade des anglais..le vieux Nice or Marche au fleurs... To be brief, the hotel was very clean and all the staff were so friendly, Adama, Carole and specially David who is on night shift everyday, he helped us for every destination we inquired with reviews and how to reach( he printed maps and directions to follow almost on daily basis) The breakfast was good and more than good for the value of money Wifi everywhere... happy hour between 6 and 8 where you will be served rosee wine and only complain that the wine should be served chilled. Anyways our stay was very pleasant. Thank you best riviera...

    « decent »

the hotel is a five minutes walk from the train station seriously even if you have a lot of luggage just dont get a cab or anything it literally 5 minutes walk and that to straight with one or two turns. if you are looking for fancy rooms this us not your hotel ... our room had basic facilities the staff was helpful thwy even provided us with connector for the switchs and an iron for clothes.

« Value for money... Not »

Stayed here while following N. Ireland in the Euros. Paid €510 for 3 nights room only. The rooms are small and need decorated ceilings were badlley stained at aircon and rooms in general poor. On a plus the staff on reception were great.

« Very attentive and good staff »

Hotel in good location not far from the old town. Reception staff very helpful and free coffee and tea in reception and happy hour with wine every evening which was a nice touch. Hotel has nice friendly atmosphere and our room was clean and quiet tucked away on the fourth floor. Breakfast very tasty, would recommend this hotel.

    « Very Helpful Receptionist »

We didn't stay at this hotel but felt the need to post a review after a very helpful receptionist, called Valentino, helped us out. Our train from Paris was delayed by over 2 hours and this left us very short on time to make the kick-off of the Northern Ireland v Poland match. This hotel was across the road from where the shuttle buses were picking up for the match. We knew that we wouldn't have time to make it to our hotel to leave our luggage off so we went into this hotel and Valentino very kindly took our bags and kept them safe for us until our return from the match. We offered to pay him but he wouldn't take anything from us. The hotel public areas looked very clean and comfortable and the location was excellent for visiting Nice and thanks again to Valentino for all his help.

    « Bad internet reception »

Close to gare. Modern small room good shower with happy hour for customer but know a day good internet is a must....front staff really helpful problem getting towels in our room. Had to be request daily maybe due to new employees.

    « Very good hotel »

I stayed at here 4 nights (6/4-6/9),location is 2 minutes walk distance from Nice station.Hotel is likely a historic renovated building with a small canopy for each room,it provides free wi fi,coffee & wine . Facilities including tv,hair dryer,safe,air-conditioner/heater, working and meal tables, refrigerator etc. A large supermarket is located on the same street near Nice train station. Negative points: hotel room is small and breakfast is too simple with less choices. Reception staff is fine.

« Nice decent hotel near the station »

200 meters from the station. But absolutely opposite to the main area in nice. Promenade which is the main street in Paris in 10 mins walking from this hotel. If you want to go to the beach its 1 km away. We always use to walk it down. This hotel has decently sized rooms and good bath rooms. It also had a small verandah. Tea coffee maker was provided in the room. Laundry services are pretty expensive in this hotel. While we were there there was a wine tasting which use to happen everyday from 6 PM to 8 PM. also coffee is free in the loby. So whenever you want you can go and make it yourself from the Nespresso machine. Breakfast was just about decent. If its not complimentary in your package they would charge you 10 euros.

    « Good location »

The location of the hotel was great right next to the railway station. The staff was very nice and helpful. Room was small but it worked well with our stay and it was quiet. The wi-fi didn't work at all in the room, only in the lobby.

« A friendly hotel with some nice touches »

This hotel is really close to the train station, handy after not booking a room prior to arriving. This is not a location that is in the tourist area, be prepared to do some walking. Front desk staff friendly, has a nice couch area with free wine and snack in the evening, and their morning breakfast is fantastic! Small rooms, good wifi, coffee in room a nice touch. Our double room was 2 single bed pushed together....not feeling the love for that. The view from our room was an alley, but didn't come to stay in my hotel and look out the window. This was a good spot to send us off exploring with a good breakfast and looked forward to relaxing here in the evening.

« Seems pretty expensive compared to what we experienced »

Pros ? This hotel is only a few blocks from the train station and a 15-20 min walk from the historical center. All areas of the hotel were very clean. The shower was one of the nicest we have had on our 3 month trip through Italy and France. Bathroom is very small for a hotel that is this expensive. It was nice to have a frig in the room though. The evening happy hour was a very welcome perk (complementary snacks and wine for two hours). The bed was comfortable and the English speaking staff provided extra pillows on request. The staff has been very helpful accept as noted in the Cons section of this review. Cons ? Room was very small but had adequate horizontal space for our suitcases and other things. The shower floor was a very slippery. The air conditioning hadn't been turned on yet in mid-May so it was pretty hot on the sunny side of the hotel. It was very noisy on the street side of the hotel. We were originally given a room on the street side but were unable to sleep with our balcony door open (it had to be open to keep from sweating all night). After quite a hassle with the staff, I got them to switch us to a room on the side of the hotel opposite the street and the rest of our stay was quiet and comfortable. The wireless internet kept cutting out and it was one of those systems which had to be reconnected every time I opened my computer. When it was working though, it was pretty fast.

    « Great staff »

The staff is delightful and extremely accommodating. The room is small but functional. The wine and cheese snack in the evening is very nice. Walking distance to the train station as well as the old town. We enjoyed it.

    « Convenient, friendly, basic. »

We booked this hotel with our points, and stayed here for a few days as a base for day trips around the Cote d'Azur. This hotel is in a great location, on Ave Thiers just steps from the central train station, and about a 15min walk to the sea. Our room faced a 'courtyard' of sorts (basically just facing other apartment buildings), so it was very quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived a few hours before check-in so we left our bags and the staff were more than happy to accommodate that. Our flights out were late at night so again we left our bags for the day after check out and the staff were happy to store them for us. Overall this was a basic room, clean and comfortable but nothing special - but we didn't want to hang out in our hotel anyway. It suited our needs perfectly, no complaints. We'd stay here again, easily.

    « 5 »

good front desk. very helpful receptionists. Clean and neat rooms. Breakfast was very decent. Internet connectivity inside the hotel was excellent in both the room and the common areas. Overall a very pleasant experience.

« Best Western Hotel Riviera, Nice »

Nice compact hotel close to train station and not far from main attractions in Nice (by walking or tram). Rooms are small but have refrigerator and tea/coffee making facilities (handy for keeping your own drinks in the room). Bathroom was clean and functional. A nice self-service continental breakfast is available until 10:30. Check-out at 12:00 is convenient and you can leave your luggage with the hotel until 22:30 on the day of your check-out. Being close to the train station is handy for making trips to nearby places such as Cannes and Monaco. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is no hotel bar.

    « Convenient Hotel »

Excellent place to stay if all you want from a hotel is a comfortable bed and a decent breakfast. Good transport on the doorstep and good food within easy walking distance. I would recommend this hotel to anybody wanting a short break in Nice.

    « Nice »

« Not a bad place to stay »

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights in February 2016. It was one of the cheapest available and for the price you cannot complain. They do not have a hotel bar sadly so we used it as basically somewhere to sleep. Breakfast was included which consists of croissants, cereals, toast, fruit etc. It's ideal as it's easy and quick. The hotel is only 4 mins walk to the train station which is ideal if you wish to visit the likes of Cannes and Monte Carlo. Surroundings wise it is a good 15 minutes walk to the main centre/sea front. If your wanting to dine out I would recommend you make the walk to the centre, as it is a lot more lively there, it's ideal for dining/shopping/drinking and there are a couple of casinos too which are very nice inside. If you choose to take a taxi they have only 1 taxi firm in Nice, so you will pay €16 to get to the front and another €16 to get home so it's quite expensive to commute that way!! Alcohol is not cheap either, your average pint will be around €8 dependant on where you go. One or two places do a happy hour where you might pay €5 a pint if your lucky. Overall, Nice is a very good place to visit, and if your trip is aimed at mainly visiting Cannes and Monte Carlo as we did, this is a great place to stay to keep costs down as Cannes and Monte Carlo are expensive places to stay and eat/drink etc. We had a brilliant trip though, visiting the Grand Casino and Harbour in Monte Carlo and the Harbour in Cannes are a definite must just to see how the other half live!! Recommended

    « Nie Feb 16 »

Nice hotel about 15 minute walk to the front, but great location for the train station to Monaco and Cannes. Neat and tidy hotel with a charm about it. Staff not overly informative but did their job at the hotel well Good VFM and worth considering if you are on a budget.

« Enjoyed a week in best western Riviera »

We had a room on the second floor it was nice and clean a bit compact We spent the week touring about . The staff were very helpful Hotel is very central and was good value served a nice breakfast. Coffee machine in the arrival hall tea making facility in the bedroom

« Clean, best for short break, Strategic location »

Strategic Location, it is just near the train station and couple of minutes to nice downtown and the market is right on the corner so you can do you shopping list needs. The room is clean but it is small, the bathroom is quite good though. Overall It will do its job for a short break.

    « Rash lady Recetionist »

A RASH lady receptionist liked to speak only to the French. All queries she had a standard answer "I cant help you"," wait in the reception OKAY" coupled with body language and angry stern face "Get lost from here".Fortunately evenings there was a pleasant Gentleman who took her place and helped us out.Hotel needs to take action asap else the tourists always have a choice.Good points the cold bfast is on time and is good enough.Rooms are small but very clean.we had a early morning flight thanks to the helpful gentleman in the reception who kept the bfast ready an hour before the scheduled time on request.....

    « Very clean »

Stayed for 6 nights was very nice staff amazing very helpful clean rooms simple and nice breakfast nice happy hour near the active area and near tram stop reasonable prices and cozy hotel sure I recommend whom wants to go

    « Ideal for a Short Break »

The reception staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Rooms are spotlessly clean and serviced quickly and efficiently. A small plumbing problem was dealt with immediately, at 10:00pm. The hotel is 5 mins walk from the station and the breakfast is tasty and plentiful. I would thoroughly recommend this place for a short stay in Nice.

« Great Staff, Mediocre Hotel »

We booked 3 nights at the Best Western Hotel Riviera for the beginning of a holiday in Provence. We arrived on a late evening flight. Unaware of the quality of the neighborhood we took the airport bus and the tram, and than dragged our suitcases several hundred meters to the hotel. The street seemed to be full with suspect types and "working girls". During day time this was no problem, but on the next evenings we avoided walking in the street after 9 pm. The hotel location also has its strengths: it is some 20 minutes walk from the shopping area and 30 minutes from the Promenade and Cours Saleya. And being close to the railway station was very convenient when we went to Antibes and Monaco, and when we went to the car rental office in the station. We were greeted by a very nice reception agent, who did his best to assist us when we encountered problems in the room, and all staff should be commended for being nice and helpful as they could. The elevator to the room was small and very slow. The room itself was small. It was clean, but very hot, and the air conditioner was very weak, it took about a day to cool the room. The electric kettle was missing (replaced next morning), as was the water bottle (the receptionist supplied us with one can of Coke, as a replacement). The The room phone did not work during our entire stay. Fortunately WiFi was good, so we could speak with our family over Skype. The bathroom was very small, and the toilet placed near the entrance, so the passage to the shower was very narrow. When we arrived the room was clean, as it was when we returned in the first day. However, on aor second day we returned on the second day we found that the room was not cleaned, and the dirty towels were taken away, but not replaced. Breakfast was an average continental type. There was an espresso machine in the lobby for free use, and wine was served in the afternoon.

« Dirty and dusty rooms! »

My husband and I decided to visit Cote De Azur for our honeymoon and the 2nd stop was at Nice after touring through Paris. We wanted to experience the real french charm and character of Nice and hence, booked a hotel almost in the middle of the city. It was 2-3 minute walk from the Nice train station but the area around the train station is known to be loaded with pick pockets but we din't know that earlier and the hotel staff did not warn us either. It is not recommended to walk alone at late night around that area. The room seemed to be tiny but we were ok with that as we knew we wouldn't be spending a lot of our time in the room. The house-keeping staff was not courteous and decided to walk into our room on 2 consecutive days while we were fast asleep. The rooms we not clean and were very dusty and we could see the dust on our bed and heaps of dust beneath our bed. The bathroom did not have an exhaust and the foul smell would spread in the room and we would have to open the window/mini balcony for some ventilation. Terrible, terrible experience! The breakfast spread was nice and the staff at the breakfast counter was very friendly as well! Unfortunately we were so disappointed with hotel that we did not want to take pictures!

« Great staff, excellent value. »

This hotel is everything you might need on a budget in Nice, France. A short walk from the train station we were welcomed by David who was excellent in showing us where we were and where to go in Nice. A 10 minute walk down to the beach. If you want a nice place to lay your head where you can know what to expect while you tour Nice this is a sufficient hotel. Breakfast is good, quick and cheap (6euro). Great value, nice hotel.

« Great location, old world charm, very friendly and helpful staff! »

Had a great time at Nice, thanks in part to the hotel. The location is right opposite the railway station and walking distance from every place that matters. The staff is very friendly. In fact we had some of the best food because of the places they recommended.

« Quite old but good »

The hotel is very close to the rail station, which is a benefit for those ones who are coming from the airport with luggages. It is also close from "le promenade des anglais",less than 10 minutes by walk. The rooms are enough spacious and the staff is very kind and polite and help you with all the information that you need.

    « Value,good location, very convinient »

the hotel is small boutique hotel, very nearby to nice gare(railway station) all the trains tgvs and other start from nice villie gare. for the massena square its a 10 min walk or you can take a tram ride from near the station costing about 1.7 euros. indian resturants are also nearby walking of 5 to 7 mins and the monop is also opposite the station. the beach also can be reached by walking about 10 mins so its really convienetly located. from the airport take the bus 99 which goes directly to nice villie gare. the rooms are ok. but in france this are considered standard rooms, with a small balcony and a bathroom with a bathtub. small room , comfortable bed. breakfast was ok as for vegetrarians its just bread butter jams juice n fruits. its anyways cold breakfast. overall would stay again as for the location and value. hope this helps others thanks

« Amazing staff, clean and comfortable room »

I booked the smallest size room at the BW Riviera, however it was so exceptionally clean and cozy that I felt comfortable right away. The room includes features not often found in European hotels like French doors opening onto a juliet balcony, in-room coffee/tea service and a mini-fridge, and has a wonderful breakfast buffet, all for a very good rate. I originally booked it for 5 nights, but I loved it so much I stayed over a week. The staff was definitely one of the best of all my travels, truly welcoming, helpful to offer suggestions since this was my first visit to Nice, gracious and kind to bring up a platter from the breakfast buffet one morning when I wasn't feeling well. I won't reiterate the easy walk to the train station, the tram, and Ave Jean Médecin (the wonderful pedestrian shopping street). But the hotel is in a central location to easily walk to the Promenade and the Old Town, to local parks, as well as in the opposite direction to the Chagall, Matisse and Archaeology Museums. I will DEFINITELY stay here again.

    « Comfortable Stay »

A very nice older and quiet hotel, just 2 blocks away from the Nice train station. Clean rooms, a large washroom by French standards, and a sense of security once you enter the hotel. Reasonably priced and I would definitely stay there the next time I pass through Nice.
