"Three beautiful days in Nice"
James L, 05 Octobre 2018

My wife and I stayed in Nice for three days in early October before travelling on to Cannes to join a river cruise on the Rhone river. The hotel was a 10 minute ride from the Airport and 10 minute ride to the train station. It is centrally located and a short walk to the beach and beachfront promenade. It is very worthwhile adding the daily breakfast to your reservation as it has a wide variety and quality buffet selection. The room we booked had a king size bed (unusual in Europe) and airconditioning ( which we needed in 27 degree weather). Staff were very helpful and quite accommodating.

"100 yds from Massena and close good bus tram links. 150 yds to beach and old town."
Raychxuu, 03 Octobre 2018

very clean, excellent buffet breakfast and very helpful staff. A good choice of mid-range restaurants are nearby as are less expensive pizza places etc. I would definitely use it again. Was luck to get room on 6th floor with a balcony.

"Massena hotel Nice, you will love it"
Alexander B, 27 Septembre 2018

This hotel is our favourite in Nice , we visit every year and the Massena has the perfect location, the service and attention by all the staff can only add to your love to this beautiful city. A perfect feel good experience. Totally recommended.

"So so"
PeterM1918, 27 Septembre 2018

Small rooms, offensive smell. One towel for two. Asked for ice, got a "bowl". Basically a soup bowl with ice cubes and a spoon. Novel but not very practical. At breakfast if you like being crammed in to a sardine tin then go for it.

"Good Location... Terrible Room!!"
Aurule, 25 Septembre 2018

Find another place to stay! When you get off the elevator you will be treated to the sewer smell of the hotel. Then we got our room and the air conditioning was not working. We honestly tried to get the hotel staff to rectify the situation but ...no more available rooms in the inn... asked for a fan got one in 20 minutes. The staff was very dismissive couldn't open a window because the window open to the exhaust of the entire smelly hotel...

"Excellent place for a quick stay in Nice"
Tomek K, 23 Septembre 2018

Very good quality for price, excellent location, very good service and helpful staff. We stayed during a fantastic period of year - September, when the weather is perfect, food excellent and sea warm.

"TT Vancouver Wonderful Stay Here...Superb Friendly Reception Staff. Valet Parking is Super"
Tony T, 12 Septembre 2018

Very nice room 616 with great terrace but STAFF superb. British Airways left our baggage in Vancouver. Staff allowed us to book two extra days just in case luggage did not come. When it did they waived our extra days no charge even though they were full.I bought the staff some macarons as they were just exceptional.30 metres from macaron store and 40 metres from brand new spin bike studio. Valet parking for euros 30 per day makes it just so easy to stay here. Much better stay than other Nice hotels we have been at. WILL go back in a heartbeat. Very close to zone pedonale and great restaurants

"Snug but exceptionally positioned"
Chook54, 06 Août 2018

Room is very small with the tiniest bathroom. However all facilities provided and clean and comfortable. Value for money OK given location but breakfast at 17 E pricey. Better options a few minutes away.

"Weekend in Nice"
Graham_N_Maur, 29 Juillet 2018

Wished to spend the World Cup final and July 14 weekend in Nice rather than in a small village. Chose the Massena hotel at random. Was an execellent choice. Location is perfect with old town ,shopping district and beach just a few minutes walk away. Was delighted with the huge room , massive bed ,large television, safe ,refrigerator, large bath and bathroom with seperate w c . plenty of tea coffee and great range of amenities Also have valet parking ,access to a private beach and good breakfast. Best of all the staff are very friendly and helpful .When next in Nice will be my choice of hotel.

"Friendly, comfortable, convenient"
wonderbrawn, 24 Juillet 2018

Smiling and helpful staff (reception and breakfast), well-appointed room with comfortable bed and exemplary air conditioning (silent and gentle), good breakfast. Located just off Avenue Jean Médecin and Espace Masséna, an easy stroll from Vieux Nice and the Promenade des Anglais.

"Excellent located, less sophisticated, almost good value for money"
Marian E, 19 Juillet 2018

If you want to spend few days in Nice and visit around, this is the place. Service is good, rooms are correct, breakfast is very good. Rooms facing the street are a bit noisy, but very clean and generous space inside. Reception staff is very polite and paying attention to details.

"Daniel is the best!!!"
Wendi J, 18 Juillet 2018

The hotel is nice and the breakfast was great! I lost my wedding ring in the room and Daniel was extremely helpful! He found a flashlight to help search and looked in the housekeeping for us too. He was extremely nice and understanding and ultimately found it! That kind of dedication and service was not only amazing but it saved our trip! Daniel deserves a raise!

"Old World Charm"
Raymond3106, 17 Juillet 2018

Nicely located near the old town with a wonderful warm charm about it. it may not seem so at first glance but walk inside and the friendly reception will soon change your mind. having had the pleasure of enjoying lovely Nice almost every other year during the last ten years and having experienced the grandeur of other hotels on the Riviera, this hotel does offer real value for money.

"Great hotel "
Lou M, 15 Juillet 2018

We spent our last night in the Côte d'Azur at this hotel. We liked the location , which was a 10 min walk from the station , close to Place Massena, next to the main shopping street and a short walk to the beach and old town. The rooms have been nicely renovated and very clean. We had 2 interconnecting rooms, which were great for a family and good value for money. I would definitely stay here again.

"Great location, very nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff"
Jo S, 14 Juillet 2018

Stayed for two night break in this hotel which is in a great central location in Nice, very close to shops, beach, restaurants, train and trams. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was very nice with huge bed. Nice balcony. I would really recommend this hotel especially if you want to be close to all the main sights and attractions in Nice.

"the elevators weren't working but they speeded up the process and did not cause any discomfort to their clients."
diksha n, 09 Juillet 2018

situated just on the main square and surrounded by the hustle and bustle of nice downtown. The tram stop is nearby and the rooms were adequate for two people and the staff was very accommodating. Our check-in was quick and hassle free, the front desk staff were helpful for information as well.

"Best Location to explore Nice"
laz007, 03 Juillet 2018

The location of this hotel is fantastic. Close to the beach, old town, restaurants & shopping. The hotel itself is nice but had paper thin walls. I could hear the phone ringing in the room next door. The breakfast had a big selection of food. The staff were friendly and were able to direct us to where we wanted to go.

"Buntybunce"
buntybunce, 01 Juillet 2018

Stayed here for four nights with friends for a 60th Birthday celebration. Staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel is very central and you can walk everywhere from here. A nice clean boutique hotel. They seam to get everything just right. The breakfast was very good . I would definitely stay here again. Very good value for money .

"Excellent Stay !"
loews, 27 Juin 2018

We finished up a cruise in Monte Carlo, and took the Train to Nice and stayed at this wonderful Hotel for 3 nights in the end of June. Its located in a perfect location - steps to the Old Section of Nice, Promenade des Anglais, and the beach. The hotel is clean and has a nice contemporary boutique feel. Rooms are spacious with clean bathrooms, separate toilet area etc. Our King Bed was very comfortable. Our balcony window opened and they have a small table next to it to sit and enjoy. The staff were very helpful, and spoke multiple languages. They have a room safe for valuables. My only suggestion is to improve the wi-fi service as we had weak reception during peak times at 10-11pm. They also have the New York Times for guests to read. If going, here is a recap: Pay for the Breakfast Option - its a wonderful buffet, big selection of eggs, bacon, cheeses, jams, fruits and coffee. Well worth it. Quality was excellent! They offer a discount to walk over and spend the day at a private club on the Nice Beach which is assigned to specific Hotels, and includes a towel, lounge and umbrella for $27 euro each. Sounds expensive but worth the experience, or use the free public beach next to it for free and sit on the stones. Your choice ! The water was 80F. Language - Don't worry if you don' t speak French, almost everyone speaks English and if not, they will know enough to help you. Use the Tram !! Its 1.50 euro, and is very convenient and is steps to the Hotel and runs along Avenue Jean Medecin and goes up to the Train Station and loops around the City. Its a great ride - we recommend you buy a 10 Trip ticket. Each trip is good for 70 minutes too so you can hop on or off. We also took the bus to the village of Eze - plan the route ahead and save. We took the Train from Monaco to Nice for 8 Euro each - it was awesome. Alternatively, you can take a bus there or to Cannes too. Old Nice is steps away, and they have an open food and flower market there on Sundays. Note - we bought fresh fruit and incredible local cheeses. Well worth it ! Uber is available, we used it to the Airport which is only 7 km for 24 Euro - in hindsight the local transit offers a dedicated bus that would be more cost effective for only 1.50 euro. Several local grocery stores are close by to stock up on essentials and bring back to your room including beer, wine, snacks etc. Plenty of restaurants EVERYWHERE ! Food portions are large too. Recommend the Paradice Restaurant in the Old section - see my reviews and others. Note, no need to TIP as wait staff are on salary, even though they told us to TIP them. Keep in mind, many stores and cafe's/restaurants will close for Siesta at 2pm and re-open at 7pm. Therefore, late evening dinners at 10pm were wonderful. The Galeries Lafayette Department Store is a 4 storey Department Store just steps away. Huge selection of stores in general in the entire area. Nice is a busy place !! -- especially in June - but it is crazy busy in the Summer. Overall, a perfect location. We would return.

"Nice hotel in a good location"
Butch J, 26 Juin 2018

Stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed the hotel. The room was pretty basic but comfortable. Having the toilet in a separate room from the sink and shower was odd but ok. We were on the 4th floor and it was quite and somewhat private. The breakfast was good and the staff was helpful and pleasant. It is a convenient location to hop on the busses or tram and a short walk to old town and the beach. At the end of our stay I rented a car and it was a short walk to Hertz and easy to get back to the hotel to load the luggage. We would stay here again if we return to Nice.

"Beautiful break"
femaletraveller82, 24 Juin 2018

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in June 2018, overall this is a fantastic hotel from start to finish. Pleasant reception staff with excellent English willing to help in any way, clean rooms and beautiful breakfast. Hotel perfectly placed to explore Nice, will definitely stay there again!

"Fantastic hotel"
Helen S, 21 Juin 2018

We stayed in this hotel end of May 2018. This hotel was everything we were looking for and more. The hotel is modern with specious rooms. Located 5 minutes walk away from center of Nice and 8 minutes from Promenade Des Anglais and the beach. Close to the old city of Nice and within walking distance to the port and open markets. What made this special was the staff of the hotel, they were fantastic!!! Went out of their way to assist and make our stay special. We look forward to coming back to this hotel.

"Fantastic "
Squawking44, 20 Juin 2018

We stayed here as a group of five for 2 nights. Brilliant location in the centre close to all the bars and shops.my room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good. Definitely recommend.

"Just very good "
Kim J, 16 Juin 2018

I just stayed here for 1 night but could easily have stayed for longer Located right next to the old town, public transport (bus 98 to and from airport) and a short walk from the beach The room with balcony was a basic room but very modern, big and with a balcony Breakfast very nice

"Great location, quiet rooms, good value for money"
User, 15 Juin 2018

Great location in the center of Nice, close to shopping and night life. Staff very friendly and helpful. Valet staff especially Roman was extremely knowledgeable in local restaurants which were a hit each and every one of them. Room was large and comfortable, even though on a busy street, very quiet at night.

"Great hotel"
Sharon D, 12 Juin 2018

My husband and I stayed here recently for three nights. We arrived early and were able to check in and we were also given a free upgrade to a room with a terrace. This was a great little place to come back to and enjoy a drink and the views to the mountains. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful with recommendations for dinner and booking our early transfer to the airport. The hotel is in a great part of town, right near restaurants, shopping and a five minute walk to the beach and old town. A 15 minute walk to the train station where we caught the train to Monaco for a day visit. Buffet breakfast was varied and plentiful. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

"Would Stay Again"
Sarah H, 12 Juin 2018

Great location - very close to the Place Massena, yet on a pleasant shady street (it gets hot!) The staff were so nice and always accommodating - especially young Nikita and Alexia. I particularly enjoyed the continental breakfast of fresh fruit, croissants and freshly squeezed orange juice. I also LOVED the spacious bathroom. You are not showering in what feels like a claustrophobic cupboard. Staying at this hotel was a comfortable, problem-free experience for me and my sister.

"Great Base to experience the Cote d'Azur"
Joe B, 10 Juin 2018

The only problem I had was not eating too much at breakfast. The location was exactly right, with easy walks to experience Old Nice and the waterfront. The staff was most accommodating and the parking situation excellent for a central city location. We up graded our room due to the length of our stay (8 days) and it was delightful to drink a bit of wine in the evening with the balcony window open to experience the city.

"Disappointing"
denisekt13, 09 Juin 2018

Booked this hotel because it was a known name, had solid reviews, and seemed to be a good value for the price. Unfortunately, I was severely disappointed in both the service and amenities, and we spent as much time away from the hotel as possible. I've stayed in budget motels in the US that had better service and amenities than here. Service: They send out a questionnaire via email prior to check-in, allowing you to make requests like a room upgrade (for a charge) or any other special requests. I requested a room upgrade and a few other minor things. When I checked in, there was no mention of anything I requested, so either they were not available and did not care to tell me, or they never looked at it in the first place. The service my entire stay was mediocre - everyone was "friendly" but it seemed forced, with an undercurrent of just really not caring. We requested extra hand towels for our room twice - once in person at the front desk and once by phone - and they were never received. We rented the pocket wifi for a few days (best amenity available, this really came in handy) but they didn't give me the charger for it or even bother to explain how to use it, just forked it over like, "here you go, good luck." When I went back later to ask them how to charge it, they seemed suspicious, like I was trying to get an extra charger. When we checked out, we were erroneously charged for two Pellegrinos from the mini bar (we NEVER touch the mini bar) and an extra day of the pocket wifi we rented. The extra charges were not much and they were promptly removed, but the lack of accuracy was concerning. Amenities: The rooms left a lot to be desired. The carpet was old and worn, the thermostat was broken so we had no control over it, there was no alarm clock or clock of any kind in the room, the hairdryer was one of those terrible ones bolted to the wall that you see at cheap motels, and there was one container of some kind of shampoo/body wash combo bolted in the shower - no conditioner. While the bed was comfortable, there was no fitted sheet on the mattress, just one flat sheet thrown on top of the mattress pad and then the comforter! Also, not that we were expecting any kind of view, but the only window faced a gross looking back alley so we kept the shades closed the whole time. The location was good, close to old town, but knowing what I know now, I would have rather been another 5-10 minute walk out of old town to be in a nicer hotel.

"Great Stay at this little Gem of an Hotel "
Nij304, 03 Juin 2018

We have just returned from a weeks holiday with friends and stayed at the Hotel Massena. The hotel was in a great location and was extremely clean and comfortable . Breakfast was typically continental but lots available , and dinning room staff were always helpful. The reception staff were marvellous particularly Nikita and Olga , who went the extra mile to assist us when our flights were cancelled at the last minute , just as we were about to leave the hotel . I recommend this Hotel as a friendly and comfortable base for exploring Nice . Well done Hotel Massena .

"Very helpful staff"
Nick C, 27 Mai 2018

Hotel is good, and facilities are everything you'd expect, but the helpful and friendly staff made the real impression on my stay, they could not be faulted and couldn't do enough to make my stay pleasurable. 10/10 for customer service well done!

"A little off with service, but great location"
ambrose214, 22 Mai 2018

We selected this hotel based on location and reputation, and whilst the former was excellent, the service rather let the hotel down just a bit. On a number of days we had no bottled water left, another no milk, and on a few others the breakfast room was slow to be topped up, and tables slow to be cleared. A shame really, as the room was very comfortable, with an excellent large king bed.

"Great location and great staff"
mnaidoo, 21 Mai 2018

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. We chose the hotel because of its location and other traveller reviews. Our expectations were exceeded. Right from check-in to check-out was an absolute pleasure. The staff were friendly, professional and extremely helpful in all areas of the hotel. Special mention goes to Laurent, Anna, Olga, Megan, Edwige, Amira, Olivier and Muriel the housekeeping manager. We had booked a privilege room and were upgraded to a deluxe room. The room was spacious, airy, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was continental with some eggs, bacon and sausage. The ingredients were fresh and of high quality. The hotel is perfectly located close to the tram, beach, old city, Cours Saleya. Everything is within a short walking distance. If you love shopping then Galleries Lafayette is just down the street as well as many other shops.

"Great Location"
grandma4granchildren, 05 Mai 2018

Firstly this hotel is in a great location, within easy walking distance (we are over 70) for the city centre, busses, trams, restaurants and of course that beautiful promenade. The staff could not be more helpful, reception and the porters where brilliant, spoke good English and very informative. The hotel is an old building, high cielings, a huge bed, tea & coffee making facilities in the room, a safe but short of a few more drawers and the wardroab was small. bathroom with a bath, a shower and bidet. Strange though the toilet was in a seperate room which seems un-hygenic today, using the toilet then having to go out to another room to wash, I,ll not go into anymore detail on that. A nice breakfast setup but if you like a good old fashioned English breakfast frorget it. Bacon is thin slices of ham and sausage are unlike any sausage I've ever tasted before, I had scrambled egg on toast everyday for a week. I should imagine most guests would be happy enough with the choices they had, but not me. I would go back to this hotel, a great location and a comfortable bed.

"Good service & room was fine"
Ticolover, 25 Avril 2018

Large groups are always tough. Although check in left much to be desired, room offered good, quiet sleep & decent breakfast offerings - better than Novotwl in Lyon. Lots of brasseries & good places to walk nearby.

"Nice location but rooms with limited space"
PavelK73, 25 Avril 2018

This hotel has a very nice location to explore the city not far from La promenade des anglais and le port. The staff at the reception is very helpful which is completely at the opposite from the staff working for breakfasts where you are feeling like in a factory and not welcome at all. Rooms are limited in space but we are in France, and in our case the noise from the street and other rooms was quiet disturbing.

"2nd review, 3 years later, and they've gone from 3 to 2 stars in my opinion"
TLJ87, 16 Avril 2018

Revisited this hotel after an “average” stay back in 2015 and have decided that this time it may have been slightly worse than last time. Pros: -Central location to everything -Clean Cons: -Customer service is abysmal. With the exception of the staff in the breakfast room, the front desk and other hotel staff are often rude and unhelpful...for example my dad paid for mobile wifi with them and they gave him one that was only 20% charged and so it died shortly thereafter. When the brought the matter up to the front desk, they shrugged and said that was all they had time to charge it for. We arrived late from a group dinner one evening at 1 am and the entrance was closed and when we rang the bell, the guy inside rolled his eyes and shook his head. Really? I am very fond of Europe and France in general and we always integrate ourselves with where we are and always find people to be kind and gracious when you do.... But we had several encounters similar in nature that left me confused as to why they seem to go out of their way to be rude. -The Hotel aircon (like most in Europe) does not get turned on until after spring which would not normally be a problem since you can open the windows for air. Unfortunately, this hotel is situated on a street that is ridiculously loud at all times of the day and night. The garbage truck passes through between 11 pm and midnight, and there are revelries in the street at the wee hours of the morning which makes sleep seem unreachable. -The breakfast spread is not so great compared to several other hotels I've stayed at throughout the EU. I would not stay here again. If you are looking at this hotel and can afford a few euros more a night for the Beau Rivage a short walk (5 mins) away or another similar hotel, I would recommend you stay at another property.

"Good location, poor stay. "
SeDenham, 09 Avril 2018

We stayed here for a night after staying for 4 nights at another hotel a little further down the promenade des Anglais. The location for this hotel is great. However apart from that I would not stay here again. I would prefer to walk another 10 minutes into town and have a good nights sleep. The air conditioning in our room did not work and was stuck on hot air and we had no choice but to sleep with the door open. However due to its location the noise is unbearable! We closed the door around 5am and we could still here the deliveries coming and going. The shower power is not good and the toilet is very small!! Stating a room as a double when there are 2 single beds pushed together is one of the worst things a hotel can do. As a couple we basically slept apart or on a single bed together. After this we asked for a coffee as we waited for our flight departure. We were told that it would be a 20/25 minute wait due to having to go and get another customers car. Simply not enough staff. I feel that even though the location of this hotel is great. It does not outweigh the poor room and service. Choose elsewhere.

"Lovely hotel, good lovation"
Wendy R, 02 Avril 2018

Lovely greeting from the staff on arrival. Shown to our room which was spotlessly clean with a lovely big comfortable bed. Room was somewhat warm and the air con didn't work, but french doors opening on to the balcony let in lots of air! Excellent selection of food at breakfast! The location wss perfect! Next to the old town, shops and close to the beach, with just a short walk to the marina. Would definitely stay here again.

"Pros and cons"
ToujoursLaRoute, 28 Mars 2018

Pros: - very good position, close to Massena Place and Old Nice - clean and comfy rooms - quiet, despite central position Cons: - service to be revisited (room was not ready at 2 PM, asked for amenities several times, only one small bottle of water offered, no welcome drink...) -wifi slow and not reliable (not acceptable considering the position) - average and expensive breakfast, well under the 4 stars claimed

"Good hotel, great location, reasonable price"
Ian_Stowe, 25 Mars 2018

Fantastic location allowing one to walk everywhere in the old town, and even out to the conference centre in 20 minutes. Room well laid out and my photographer wife loved the decoration of old photos of famous people and movie stars everywhere in the place. Good buffet breakfast, though I still do not understand how and why hotels in large French cities can label themselves as 4 star when they have no restaurant, albeit that there are many around the area. Price through booking.com was cheaper than direct and around 100 euros rather than the posted price in the room of 250.

"great location"
boycehill, 20 Mars 2018

We stayed at this hotel at Christmas, The location was great just off the place Massena, tram stop 100 yards away, local buses a little further, beach 5 min walk. Lots of places to eat but can be expensive so need to shop around. We are returning in June to attend a wedding,

"Well Located, Well Run, But Tiny Rooms with Paper-Thin Walls"
jackosan, 18 Mars 2018

This hotel is located just off Massina Square, which is at the foot of the main shopping street of Nice. It is a short walk to the beach promenade as well as the old part of the city. The place is well-run and the breakfast has sufficient variety. The rooms, however, are quite small and much can be heard from other rooms. There is nowhere other than a very small closet to unpack or hang things. That said, the beds are comfortable, the water pressure is strong with plentiful hot water, and there are adequate electrical outlets. It's not a bad deal for the price if you don't mind the issues with the rooms.

"A great place to stay with excellent location and amazing hospitality "
Naomi P, 12 Mars 2018

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend and I would stay here again. It is very close to all of the main sights and they are walking distance. We even took a train to Mononco for the day and the train station was only 15 minutes walk. The hotel was def a 4 star. Super clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast had a vast selection too so you will not be disappointed. The staff are very friendly and because it was our wedding anniversary they gave us a complimentary upgrade to a nicer room and a bottle of wine. It really made our trip and it's the small things that count so thanks again to all the polite and friendly staff at Best Western we will be back to stay here.

"Best situatied, polite staff, breacfast with good choice of food."
Vladimir D, 08 Mars 2018

I spend 4 nights, from 2-6th march, hotel is situated in the very center of Nice, and realy everything is close. This is 4 stars Hotel, maybe a bit lower. Rooms are everidge, bathrooms preaty narrow but functional. Staff is very polite and helpfull, specially yang girls at the reception. So it was good expiriance and for the recomendation, location is ideal, and price acceptable.

"Comfortable hotel, great location & staff service "
Elizabeth C, 04 Mars 2018

We stayed here for a 3 night city break. The hotel is ideally situated, 5 - 10 minutes walk from the old town, and close to Place Massena in the modern town. There are plenty of bars and restaurants close by. You can use the airport bus number 98 to reach the hotel, alighting at the stop for Albert 1er, and walking across Place Massena. Our room was very comfortable and warm. We appreciated the tea/coffee making facilities in the room, along with the safe & the mini fridge. The buffet breakfast was good, with a great selection of continental food on offer, as well as juices and a great coffee machine. There was some hot food available (scrambled egg, bacon & sausage) although that was not to my taste. Staff at the hotel were very friendly & helpful, particularly assisting us with transport arrangements, telling us the bus numbers and location of the bus stops we needed. There is free wifi available. This hotel ticks every box for us, and I would definitely recommend it.

"Very friendly . Will definitely return."
Lesley M, 26 Février 2018

Hotel was perfect . Situated near the old town.Minutes walk to bars , restaurants and shops. Rooms just right, very clean and comfortable. Great breakfast to start the day. Nothing was too much for the staff.

"Elegant and central"
Monika P, 17 Février 2018

We are very happy that we chose this hotel and will surely revisit. The room was not very big, but it had a very comfortable bed, nice bathroom, and was very quiet. The hotel offered good breakfast, and the staff was friendly. The hotel is walking distance to all attractions, to the train station, to the sea. Excellent value for money!

"Hope to come back soon!"
Catherine C, 14 Février 2018

The Hotel Massena is perfectly located on very near to the old town and beach and even nearer the main shopping street and the delights of the 'place' with it's wonderful fountains, big wheel etc! The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing seemed like it was too much trouble. Great range to choose from for breakfast and the room was lovely and spacious and such a bonus having tea and coffee making facilities. The only minus was the sound outside at night with people leaving clubs and the occasional tooting of a car horn but we tried to hear it as the buzz of the city rather than as something annoying and it certainly wouldn't stop us from staying from the hotel Massena again.

"Expected more from a four star hotel, I wouldn't recommend it."
Francesco B, 13 Janvier 2018

+ Breakfast was excellent, bed was very comfortable. Perfect location. - The room was kept very hot by default to the point that we started to sweat after five minutes wearing only t-shirts. Hopefully, a quick call at the reception helped us fix the problem. Despite the windows offered an excellent noise isolation from the street below, I suggest to the most sensitive people to bring earplugs. The bathroom had no ventilation, that resulted in the mirror covered with mist and a lot of humidity. The bathroom door couldn't be closed properly despite our efforts. We found only one electricity socket near the bed, so was impossible to charge and hold two phones near the bed at the same time. The night staff that handled our problems (a man in his 40's I would say) was very helpful, I don't know your name but thank you! Meanwhile, the lady that did my check-in informed me that I made a mistake and I booked for one and not for two. I actually made a mistake in the booking, and I apologized. Since my fiancée was at the reception with me a bit of touch and finesse would have been excellent to handle the situation. She instead quickly proposed me alternatives to fix the problem with a condescending attitude of patronizing superiority, and naming prices of the extras I had to pay out loud, making sure both of us clearly understood. This is a big no-no, especially since she didn't give me time to look at my booking and realized I made a mistake. I looked like a fool and a small bit of touch could have avoided that. It's a small thing but I believe a bit of empathy from the staff is required even in the most basic of hotels.

"Good Location, Decent Rooms, Average Service"
TT927, 12 Janvier 2018

The hotel is in a good central location, easy to walk to most interesting parts of the city. The rooms were fine. The overall service was just Ok. We had breakfast included with our rate. It was Ok but I wouldn't pay for it at the price they charge. Overall experience was Ok but nothing special.

"Brilliantly situated"
Maggie68Rees, 06 Janvier 2018

The hotel is very centrally located and has recently been updated. The rooms are very comfortable and ours was very quiet, overlooking a central courtyard. While this was an advantage in many ways, there was no view and even with windows open in January it was a bit airless. We very much enjoyed our stay.

"Excellent hotel, great service, wonderful rooms!"
Sapir T, 30 Décembre 2017

We got a room at the 5th floor with 2 balconies ('privilege' room), which was really the top thing that we loved in the room. Other than that - the room was big, well equipped with comfortable bathroom, TV, chairs and small couch. We were beyond satisfied from our experience.

"Disappointing 4 star "
Brighton56, 27 Décembre 2017

Staff helpful but the room was weird .it was tired for a start. Bed comfy nice bedding and towels. The lights in room were so bright each lamp over 100 wattage no dimmer switch. No smoke alarm in room. The toilet was at the end of the bed not part of the bathroom, no sink in the toilet no extractor fan that worked, only dirt fell out of it when sitting on the toilet.small wardrobe. Very hot room due to mini bar heat expelled. Stayed in far superiour 4 stars in nice. Don't bother with this one.

"Friendly staff, central location."
erwinvann, 21 Décembre 2017

At our arrival, the person in charge of valet parking was genuinely friendly and very helpful. Later on he helped us choosing a restaurant in the area. His enthusiasm and helpfulness made our stay great. The staff at the front desk was also friendly. The room was spacious, yet maybe a bit plain. Very clean though. Quiet also, even on the street side. Regular breakfast, nothing major.

"A good hotel with a perfect location"
Tannpirker, 19 Décembre 2017

Me and my friend had a nice weekend's stay in room 514. The hotel's interior is a 4-star hotel worthy. The location is pretty much perfect. Delicate bathroom. Even though the breakfast was good, the selection was quite small. The orange juice was out two days in a row. According to my friend, the coffee was great. Our room had a separate toilet without a sink, so we had to switch between toilet and bathroom to wash up; A bit odd. The bathroom sink was not equipped with a dispenser, only a bar of soap. That's neither delicate nor environment friendly. The WiFi worked for my friend, but he got fed up with having to log in all the time. For me, the WiFi almost didn't work at all (even logged in). Don't waste €35 on a taxi if you don't have to. The 98 bus departs frequently from the airport and goes along the Promenade des Anglais. Get off at “Albert 1er/Phocéens” and the hotel will be a 5 minute walk away, right off Place Masséna. The hotel's got a car rental deal with a company called Elite rent. They bring and pick up the car at the hotel. However, we found the prices to be a bit stiff, so we went to check out a couple of other nearby rentals. We didn't find a cheaper car, so we could just as well gone for the hotel deal.

"Lack of ventilation in overheated room otherwise marred a nice stay"
Reiziger2017, 19 Décembre 2017

The positives: A few hundred meters or less walk to the major shopping, the charm and restaurants of the old town, the sea, nearby bus and tram stops. Hotel and rooms nicely appointed; quiet room facing back. Check in staff efficient and friendly. Ample breakfast, supplies readily replenished. Many TV channels in various languages. In-room electronic safe. Coffee and tea making facilities. Good in-room lighting. Mini-fridge with adequate space for a few own items. Free wifi. Good water pressure, two lifts to the 6 floors; never had to wait more than a couple of minutes. The negatives: small and awkward-shaped WC in room 425. To use the electronic safe one has to use the electronic key card. But to use the card for the safe, one has to remove the card from the wall which then would cut off the room's power supply, then you cannot see; also placing the safe on the floor makes it uncomfortable to use unless you can easily get on your knees. Tip to guests: ask for two key cards: one to use the safe and one to have power available for lights, etc. While Wifi was fast and free, it always took a bit of extra effort/time to reconnect after returning to the room. But unfortunately the important negative was an overheated room and a thermostat which was completely nonfunctional. Temperature, fan, on/off were all inoperable. Opening the window/door let in cool air on a mid-December night, but it's hardly environmentally friendly. Inside the room I quickly felt unwell. Going out for a walk fortunately overcame that. Fix the ventilation and heating and you have an ideal place to stay in a city that has much to offer.

"A very nice hotel in an excellent location"
Akivz, 18 Décembre 2017

The best thing about this hotel is its perfect location. It's near everything central. Right next to all the shopping, and the central boulevard, and a bit farther, the old city and the promenade. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was quite comfortable and very quiet. Clean and tidy. The breakfast was OK. The croissants were superb and the fruit also very good. But not enough vegetables (in my opinion). The cheese also wasn't too good and the coffee just OK.

"Spot on"
Bunters631, 24 Novembre 2017

36 hours spent in Nice & two nights at this lovely hotel. What struck us straight away was how nice the hotel looked from the front followed by the friendly & very helpful reception staff. The room was ideal & perfectly suited our needs. Huge comfortable bed, massive flat screen tv with BBC 1 & 2 incl. Tea & coffee facilities. Immaculately clean. Shower absolutely no problem & worked well. Breakfast is excellent. The hotel is perfectly situated and there are some great restaurants dotted around. For the price I was more than happy & I will definitely stay there again.

"Great location in Nice"
Kim T, 11 Novembre 2017

Great location - just a few minutes' walk from Massena Square and the gardens and the huge shopping area. Maybe a 10 minute walk to the stunning Nice sea front and long promenade and the old town. Entrance is discrete and interior design is very modern. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast - on the ground floor - was busy but excellent selection of hot and cold food - entirely self-service. Didn't try the hotel bar as there are simply too many bars and restaurants in the immediate area. The room was disappointing - it had all that you'd expect but was really small. Separate small bath/sink from the toilet. Safe was key operated. Room key needed for power with no delay time when you needed access to safe - so plunged into darkness. The heating/air conditioning unit didn't appear to work. Also, unfortunately in the adjoining room it seems there were three young women enjoying a hen party. Their taste in music was interesting but their singing skills left a lot to be desired. Very poor sound insulation. Two nights of noise - not very relaxing. Tall window with a gate was pretty but the view was negligible. Although they had put some plants at the base of the area.

"Beautiful spot in Nice"
K G, 07 Novembre 2017

We stayed here for a two day stay in Nice. Rooms was a modern, clean room in the midst of Nice. It was just perfect! I love the rugs. Check out this beautiful rug that was throughout the hotel. Staff very pleasant and accommodating to all of our questions and issues.

"A real disappointment // smelly, noisy & small"
tadas_juozonis, 04 Novembre 2017

1. I felt like staying in a cheap station area hostel rather in a 4 star hotel. 2. Other guests were freely smoking in their rooms and the incredibly strong smell could be felt everywhere, including the corridor and our room. I complaint about that to the reception people, but apparently they are not allowed to disturb other guests, so they can do whatever they want in their rooms. 3. The hotel was old and the room we got was small and weird (toilet was separated from the bathroom). 4. The breakfast room was very small. It was difficult to move around or to find a free table. Moreover, the cleaner was doing her vacuuming around the breakfast area and the lobby (at 8AM!), so it was really unpleasant and noisy. 5. I booked this hotel and paid a premium to receive 4 star service, unfortunately this hotel was worth nothing more than 2 stars.

"Great Location, Older but Renovated"
JamesHJr, 03 Novembre 2017

The Hotel Messena is in the middle of town, minutes by foot from almost anywere -- or so it seemed to a first-time Nice visitor. We walked through town to the seafront, enjoying the parks and plazas greatly and then . . . there was the Promenade des Anglais. Beautiful. The hotel is older but kept nice. Our room looked out on rooftops to the rear, which is hardly the most desired view. But it nevertheless as very French and interesting, as if the polished veneer had been scratched, allowing us a glance beneath the shiny surface of Nice. Our group had breakfast each morning of our two-night stay, and the food was plentiful and well-presented. Did not try dinner there, but instead opted for places nearby for simple fare. There are lots of boulangeries, cafes and stores convenient to the neighborhood, which felt very safe. The only issue we had was with condensation from our A/C, which dripped onto the carpet overnight. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even with a group of almost 50. Not sure what the rate was, as it was prearranged; but I could see staying there next time in Nice.

"Great hotel in Nice France "
natnat21, 01 Novembre 2017

Hotel is old but has been renovated and brand new inside. Nice hotel to stay in. Rooms are large. Hotel is very convenient and walking distance to a lot of places. Staff are helpful. Breakfast is ok. Nothing great. Good hotel to stay in Nice

"Excellent central hotel"
Tony R, 01 Novembre 2017

Good hotel in centre of town close to all shops and restaurants. Check in was swift and luggage storage offered free of charge Room clean and large bathroom. Air con was good with a fridge available. Choice of tv programmes to suit. Walls were a bit thin and you can hear next room. This didn't spoil the hotel as it was quiet. Breakfast was excellent, bacon, scrambled eggs and sausage. Along with various fruits, cheeses, ham and breads. A great selection for all. It was very busy one day when we had a lie in. Would definitely stay again

"Memorable vacation!"
imgracesuzanne, 25 Octobre 2017

I very much enjoyed my stay in Hotel Massena last month. My friends and I were there for almost 2 weeks during a friend's wedding. The staff was the best! They were all extremely friendly and accommodating to our needs. This hotel is perfectly located whether you would like a quiet stroll or have a fun night out. I will come back to Nice again and will definitely be staying in Hotel Massena.

"Night club opposite bedroom !"
Jackothefirst, 22 Octobre 2017

Very nice room. Hotel in great location. Breakfast excellent. All good apart from the nightclub noise from the street till 5 in the morning. Very difficult to get a nights sleep with that going on most of the night. Spoilt a lovely weekend away.

"Great hotel in a great location"
Niamh O, 18 Octobre 2017

I stayed here recently with family members.. Rooms are modern and very spacious for city hotels. Bathrooms well equipped with large fluffy towels and adequate toiletries.. We had a small balcony which was lovely to open out for fresh air. The staff were fantastic - eager at all times to help and spoke excellent English . The location of this hotel is superb ...5 mins walk from both shops and the beautiful promenade. As taxis are expensive in Nice, you save on this expense as the only taxi you need is to and from the airport. For the price you pay, this hotel is great value. Breakfast was included in our package and there was a great variety of fruit + breads on offer. I would highly recommend this hotel to people of all ages.

"80th Birthday celebration "
TomCollins2010, 16 Octobre 2017

The location of the hotel is brilliant - it had everything to suit everyone in our group from 18 - 80 years old - we had a fantastic time right from the moment we entered Nice - going through passport control where the officer sang happy birthday to my mum as she came through , to the warm ,friendly people we met in the hotel , restaurants , shops and when out and about - thank you Nice for such a memorable time - Nice is very very nice !

"Nice stay"
Jarr_mich, 14 Octobre 2017

Room was nice and modern with fridge and TV with lots of channels in various languages. Bathroom was modern and nice and clean. Room isn't massive but you expect that in France. Breakfast room is tiny and was quite chaotic in the morning. Excellent location for exploring Nice and the surrounding areas.
