« Great Best Western hotel in Newport Beach »

This Best Western location is completing a major update and when it is finished it will be beautiful. Great location 500 feet from the beach and has lounge chairs for guest to use at the beach. We had a balcony room on the main road but it was very quite at night. There is a great Italian restaurant next door that serves great food so we could walk and enjoy a bottle of wine with dinner. I will be back.

« close to beach, but too close to highway »

The improvements are coming along on this hotel, but unfortunately our ocean view room was very noisy. The highway is right in front and we could hear the noise through the night. We could also hear the conversations in the hall and people coming up the stairs as well as any movement from upstairs. They need to do some type of sound-proofing to perfect this hotel. Also the parking was very tight and limited but they are working on this. Staff was very apologetic and did provide great service and the room was clean as was the pool area. The breakfast area was small but very nice as well. They provide beach towels, beach toys and chairs and it's a super quick walk to the beach.

« Now our regular OC go-to for a weekend escape »

This well-maintained and friendly facility gives you all the benefits of a great hotel, close to the beach but for much, much less than so-called fancy places just 3 miles down the road (in Newport Beach itself). From this location you are just minutes from Newport Beach but also safely located south of the I-405 and SR 73, with access to many side roads to enable you to avoid most of the beach traffic. The rooms are spacious, beds super comfortable, nice indoor jacuzzi and outdoor pool, exercise room, etc. full-on hot breakfast, and the staff is very friendly, A nice touch is the each floor has its own min-lobby/common area (with big screen TV), which si perfect for families hanging out after hours or in between trips to the beach. They have many discounts and promotions and its central location cannot be beat!

    « Great location »

We love this hotel. It is convenient to the beach and walking distance to some fun places to eat! We stay here whenever we visit for our anniversary. The staff has always been friendly and very helpful.

« Awesome end of the year getaway »

Kyle was amazing at check in and check out over all great customer service and very helpful with the area. Breakfast was great as well. Parking got a bit crazy which is understandable for the property

    3
« Great location, nice breakfast »

This hotel is nicely situated to reach beaches nearby, a bit north on Highway 1 or in other parts of Newport Beach. Breakfast was plentiful, but not much for healthy foods, very little fruit, no fat free yogurt and only sugar loaded cereals. Rooms desperately need to be updated. They are clean, but the beds are so old and worn, that they slope up or down. We had to change rooms because the first one sloped towards the head and we did not want to sleep with our heads lower than our bodies. Bathrooms are ok, but very small. The signs say they are renovating to become a beach boutique hotel, but without major updates to the rooms, we guessed that only the price would increase. The signs all said they are updating the exterior, pool and parking.

    « Not too Shabby »

I had no expectation for this stay, just a 1 night getaway for company Christmas party and celebrating wife's Birthday. Parking was difficult, but the room and view made up for that. We would stay here again based on proximity of things we enjoy doing, the closeness to a nice stretch of beach and good restaurants. Clean up check-in and parking and this would have received 5 stars.

    5
    « Concerned »

We booked our stay. I was told there was construction and they werent joking, there was. Yes, it was loud, but I was concerned of the overall stay. Didn't need to. Like all Best Westerns they continue to please you. I want to go back and see the end results.

    4
« Perfect for a few days stay at the beach, etc »

Friendly staff, oceanfront room, carpeted halls (quiets noise), great breakfast, walk across the road to the beach, elevator, wifi, and other amenities. Avoid an adjoining room because we had too much noise from this. Parking only $7 but very cramped. Close to huntington beach, south coast plaza shopping and a few restaurants. Make sure to avoid spaghetti bender. we both got sick. Big Belly Deli was nice. Gym but didn't try it, same with pool, items to borrow for beach: umbrella, chairs, towels, etc. It is a bit on the expensive side for a small hotel. best to use reward points if you can

    5
    « Nice and small »

The site I made my reservation at called this a 3 1/2 Star. That might be a stretch... The room was clean, but small; very Newport Beach... The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was pretty decent. I don't think I got my wake-up call, unless I slept through it, but that is not really likely... Didn't get a chance to get to the beach a few blocks away because of it before my flight, but I probably needed the extra hour of sleep... I would stay here again if the price is right. Breakfast seemed to have a lot of options, but I was in a rush and just grabbed some OK coffee before I got my Uber...

    « Plugged toilet »

Toilet plugged up. Staff wasn't available till next morning. By then, things started stinking. We just wanted a plunger to do it ourselves, but none was found. I'm sure we weren't the only people that had toilet problems.

    4
    « Beach Thanksgiving »

This best part about this Best Western Plus is its location. A block away from the beach is the definite highlight. Hotel itself is average, clean, nothing fancy and very basic. Pool is simply a parking lot pool, OK to dip in but nothing desirable. Again it's all about the beach so no worries about the pool. The parking in the rear has limited space ($7 nightly fee) and a tight squeeze for bigger vehicles. Staff was nice although did not seem the most professional. The rooms do have a refrigerator to use which is nice. The shower lacked hot water, however everything else was fine.

    5
« Very friendly hotel with good amenities »

This hotel has an excellent value for the price (esp given the amenities and free breakfast). We loved the friendliness of the people at the reception, who gave us some excellent dinner tips. If you want to sleep with your window open, you should ask for a room that is not facing the see. The view out of our window was beautiful, but it was very noisy given the busy road.

    3
    « Just ok »

I would not give it a plus in the Best Western line. Parking, well even if you pay the seven dollars a night extra you might not get a space. The rooms are small & the building is old. I realize they are doing construction and going to be calling it by a new name, ?SOLARENA? I hope they fix the elevator from banging around when I hits the first floor. Knock a few walls out make the rooms a little larger. But if you want ice you still have to go from the fourth floor to the first. The staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating. It is Newport Beach so you're going to pay.

    « Never Again »

When we saw the hotel sign at the end of a long day we then had to figure out where the parking lot was and how to access the lobby. Very confusing and no real signs to direct us. We picked this hotel as it was a "Best Western Plus" and close to the beach. Very very small and very very old rooms. This is by far the nosiest hotel we have ever stayed in and had very little sleep over two nights. I would be totally surprised if there is any sound proofing in this hotel at all.

    1
    « Disappointing »

Stayed here because as a Best Western Plus, I expected a certain level of comfort but was very disappointed. First of all, the building is old. While upgrades had been done to the interior, the rooms were very small and the ceilings were low. Also, if the walls had insulation, it wasn't much because you could easily hear your neighbors and people walking above you. The pillows were terrible and the towels were disgusting. They were stained and even though they had been laundered, they were not cleaned very well. Appeared like they had gone thru a very quick cycle. I wouldn't even use them. Fortunately there was a hand towel that looked clean so I used that as a bath towel. The breakfast was not very good. I was afraid to try the sausage and eggs (I think they were eggs -they looked like yellow pancakes). Thinking I'd play it safe, I went with a bowl of Raisin Bran. Perhaps I'm the only one who eats Raisin Bran because it was so stale, I couldn't eat it. Who knows how long it had been in that dispenser. The coffee was too bad to drink, too. The banana and orange juice were fine. They did have some bread items that I chose to pass on. Overall, the breakfast could use some improvement. Parking was a problem. One of the parking lots was not available due to the construction they have going on. We were fortunate that there were spaces available when we arrived, but the lot and parking stalls are very small and it was difficult to park - lots of maneuvering required. One of the reasons I had booked this hotel was the location and I must say that was the best part of our stay. Just a block from beach access. The staff at the front desk was pleasant but our stay overall was disappointing and I would not stay there again. Even when the remodel is complete, it's not going to make the tiny rooms any bigger.

    4
    « Great Location + Relaxing Experience »

We stayed one night and took advantage of an early check-in and a one hour delay at check out. The location is wonderful ? one block from a deserted beach and with the loan of beach chairs and towels it was a wonderful experience. In addition, the Groupon provided for free one hour bikes which we used to ride along the inland marsh near the hotel. I deducted one star because there was the smell of cigarette smoke in the bathroom which management could not determine where it was coming from. We were offered a room switch, but declined, because We were already settled into the room. Another advantage to the location was the convenience of restaurants within walking distance so that we never had to move our car. Overall, a delightful way to spend 24 hours.

    2
« Parking was mostly theoretical »

The "new parking lot" was "under construction" at the time of our visit. The facility has 53 rooms, with 23 available parking spaces - including the two a block over behind the dumpster bin. (Seriously!) Their consideration was to send an officious lady out to instruct me how to park. The rooms are OK, the elevator is tiny, and we didn't try the breakfast.

    5
« Walking distance to beach/parking structure being built »

Parking structure is being built right next door. We got here early so we parked and made sure we didn't leave since there were only like 20 spots. We took a nap by the pool while we waited for a room to get ready for the 3pm time. They do have a closet of sand toys, umbrellas and Chairs for the beach. There's a few boogie boards that some customers left after buying them during their stay. Walking distance to beach. Uber to balboa ferry. Next time we'll try a sunset cruise or whale watching. Will stay here again.

    3
    « Excellent location »

Excellent location to the beach! Just a short walk across the street. Hotel has clean, standard size rooms. Rooms are very noisy right by the street. Paid for a deluxe room which was located on first floor facing street. Make sure to request room not facing Street.

  • 1
    « Excellent »

We have stayed here twice now 2 years apart we stay here because the ocean views are wonderful not to mention being able to walk along the beach my biggest complaint is no continental breakfast I'm sure you could go to the hotels restaurant but sometimes it's nice to just grab and go

    3
« Standard Best Western, clean and free breakfast »

This was a good stay - clean room, free (though just average) breakfast. Nothing fancy, nothing special but exactly what we were expecting! Close drive to the beach, and the freeway is right across the street.

    5
« Very Welcoming and Comfortable »

It was a Great vacation in Newport Beach at Best Western Plus, the Staff were Polite and very Helpful, the Room was Spacious n Clean, have no Complaints on the Traffic Noise on Coast Highway or even the people next door... I Highly Recommend this Hotel and I will be Back Soon!! :) Thanks BW

    3
    « small and loud »

oom was shockingly small! And there was construction occurring creating too much noise for my baby to sleep. They do have towels chairs and toys for you to take to the beach, which is a short walk away.

    2
« Close to Beach, but Poor in Most Other Areas »

This hotel was pretty disappointing. A bit cheaper than neighboring hotels, but now I know why. Service was poor from the first time I called to book, rooms were small, hallways weren't air conditioned and breakfast was bad. They charged me the entire stay on the first night when they told me that wouldn't be the case, then said it didn't matter because I would have to pay it all anyway when I inquired. A staff member even laughed at me when I asked where the restroom was because it was so close that I should have seen it. Spend your money elsewhere and have a more enjoyable stay.

    5
    « Beach getaway »

We came to this hotel last year and loved it so much we decided to return this year and stay longer. The staff is very friendly and accomadating. The rooms are very clean and updated. We will come back!

    5
    « Location location location! »

Hotel has such easy access to the beach and great restaurants within walking distance. You can literally park your car and walk everywhere. We had a deluxe room facing Hwy 1, with the sliding door open traffic noise could be a little overwhelming, with it closed it was okay. Small price to pay for the Southern California view. Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Best kept secret is "Eat Chow" right next door. Food is amazing we ate there two nights in a row. Cappys is also very good for breakfast. Parking is tight but neighborhood seems very quiet and safe. Will definitely return to this hotel!

    4
« Clean, comfy & close to the beach! »

The staff members are very friendly, the location is great and the rooms are comfy. The rooms are a bit small, but satisfactory. The location is quiet and it feels safe. The pool was remodeled and it is very nice.

    3
    « Great location »

The Newport Beach Inn is in a super location. Front desk staff was excellent, but new. They offer breakfast, but the hours are very limited, and when you are on vacation.....so we missed breakfast. Hotel is clean and comfortable.

    4
« We enjoyed our stay »

This hotel is across the road within walking distance of the beach, the room was large and comfortable and my husband enjoyed the pool and spa. There is a bar and restaurant downstairs. Some rooms face the ocean and others over look the parking lot.

  • 4
    « Great nights stay »

Pool is nice, rooms are clean and comfy, short walk across the street to the beach, you can sign out beach chairs and staff is really nice. Area is beautiful, continental breakfast is a little lack luster but for the money this hotel is somewhere we will return to.

    2
« over promised under delivered »

For the price, the view, the room, the food, and the parking was far below expectations. I have stayed at numerous BW's with various price points so I have a good frame of reference for writing this review.

    2
    « Beach hotel »

This hotel is run down. The staff was not very nice. The location is right across from the beach but their is a lot of street noise . Beware of parking it is not guaranteed even though you pay for it.

    4
    « excellent value »

The staff was helpful and pleasant. The breakfast good. An excellent value considering the beach was a cross the street. The motel is planning a renovation in the near future. Be aware, $7.00 per night to park on the property. I considered the cost negligible, considering the parking lot is in view from the front desk.

    5
    « Excellent stay »

Very nice place. Great for kids right on beach. Nice indoor pool. Very friendly people and the girls enjoyed all the amenities around the town. Went to the aquarium and the beach. The restaurants were very good.

    5
    « Very Impressive »

We were very pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness and the thoughtful layout that allowed me to read/work without disturbing my husband. The layout also allowed us both to get ready without being in each other's way. And....the bed was super comfortable!

    4
« Great Place to Stay! »

Great place to serve as center point to visit Newport Beach area without congestion. A short walk to beach, but have to cross highway to get there so small children must have adult supervision to cross. Good breakfast buffet to start your day. A few restaurant a very short walk away. .

    5
    « Great vibes »

Loved the decor and people. Proximity to beach is amazing (across the street). I love the renovations that are going on, the beach vibe and the upgrades are with it for sure! I loved the breakfast in the morning too! And great coffee, yum!

    3
    « location »

The hotel is right on Pacific Coast Highway and sits on a cross street to the beach. While the beach access is wonderful, half of the face the highway. Unfortunately our room was on the second floor facing the highway, it was extremely noisy even with the double-pane window. They didn't have other rooms available for us. Be sure to ask to be garranteed a room on the other side of the hotel otherwise you'll be sleeping with traffic.

    4
    « Always Welcome »

Two nights with my dog. One of many stays over the years. Staff is always friendly. Room was clean and improved driveway easier access to ocean. Had a pet approved, 4th floor unit. Easy walkway from upper parking to 4th floor. Much easier to get dog in and out.

  • 5
« We love this hotel »

We really love this hotel. They have recently updated somethings and it looks really nice. We love that it is so close to the beach. The staff is always so helpful and friendly. The beds are comfy and the breakfast is always delicious. The only thing I would change is I wish there was a large family suite and a microwave in the room.

    5
    « Newport Beach Hotel »

Our stay at Newport Beach Best Western plus inn has been a wonderful stay. It is a short walk to the beautiful and clean beach. It is updated and clean. We enjoyed having an outdoor pool for after the beach. The rooms are spacious, clean and updated. We had a easy check in with Brianna. She was very nice and efficient.

    3
    « Location great! That's it!! »

Staff rude. We were asked to reuse our beach towels.asked for our room to be serviced we when left for the day at 10 am. Only to find out the maids were done and our room Hadn't been cleaned. On the plus side the beds were comfortable,Location great. we'll just lower or expectations next time.

    3
    « quick stay »

close to the boat i got on in the morning.didnt want to drive the hour to get on a boat near by.other than the price was a good location to go fishing.been there before so i knew what i was getting. lots of police around so felt safe

    2
« The good stops at the location »

The only thing good about this hotel is the location. Poor breakfast - not able to keep up with the demand so everything was always empty and waiting to be refilled Inattentive staff Broken beach chairs/umbrellas/boogie boards Smelly hallways and rooms No daily housekeeping - only every 3 days!

    4
    « Beachy Keen »

Right across the street from the beach made for a great, convenient location. The property was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Construction limited the parking but this is temporary. Two quality restaurants adjacent (esp. Eat Chow...wow!). I recommend.

    2
« Don't stay here if you have a car »

No parking and they made no effort to resolve this issue. Had to park a half mile away in a residential area. Old hotel with one (slow) elevator. Overpriced and the beach is not within walking distance. Will not be back.

    2
    « Check what's not working first »

Pool was out of commission, I had to move my truck three times in one day due to renovations, phone broken, no extra blankets available, elevator felt like it was going to give out and the "partial view" was only a view of their sign.

    5
    « Great Place »

The staff is awesome, rooms are clean, been going there for 3 years now and would not even consider anywhere else, location is perfect, beach is right across the PCH, good restaurants within walking distance. Just an overall great place

    5
    « Great Hotel »

This is the second time I've stayed at Best Western Plus Newport Beach. Both times the front desk was great, the rooms were clean and a good value. It is a nice location across from the beach and a short drive into Newport Beach. If I'm in the area again, this is where i will stay.

  • 2
    « Not a view room! »

The real only view was the traffic on the street that kept me up all night. He walks are so thin we could hear the people upstairs all night and morning as well. The sink was clogged and wouldn't drain

    5
    « Great Day-cation Stay »

Room was nice and clean, there was a fridge for us to keep drinks and snacks, the bathroom had plenty of room for both my husband and I to get ready at the same time and the bed was comfortable. The location was on a busy street but we faced the rear of the hotel and it was nice and quiet.

    5
    « Great location »

The hotel staff was friendly and rooms were clean. I love the location of the hotel and had an ocean view. I basically walked across the street to a very beautiful beach. The hotel completed their internal remodeling and in the process of completing it externally. I can imagine that once they are done this would be a great place to stay near the beach.

    5
« Great location, nice helpful staff! »

Great staff!!! A short walk to beach, rode bikes to Balboa along bike path and boardwalk. Spaghetti Bender next door has awesome food. Will definitely stay here again. Beach chairs, umbrellas available for use was a nice bonus. Rooms very clean, wifi worked great! Pool was not open as they are finishing up with outside renovations.

    3
    « Under construction »

This is about a mile away from Huntington Beach. The parking lot is blocked off and entire building is under construction, wasn't warned or informed of that and was extremely inconvenient. Was told we could rent bikes also and while we were there they weren't available. Really disappointing.

    1
« Worst Experience during our CA Trip »

    - but very loud rooms due to a big street with direction to the beach which was not seeable although beach view was offered for an extra charge (more then 250 USD/night). - rooms had a very unpleasant smell of cleaning materials.

    3
    « just ok »

nothing to do here, you have to drive everywhere. very basic breakfast with no healthy options. very carb heavy. bathroom is big and bed was comfy but i wouldn't stay here again. sketchy neighborhood.

    2
    « Construction »

I'm so dissatisfied with the fact that we were not notified before arrival that this hotel was under construction. The outside of the hotel was a mess and dirty. The construction was very loud - we tried to nap and couldn't because of the noise. Also, cleaning of the hallway carpets - I get that you have to clean the carpets, but on top of the construction it just wasn't a good experience. I felt we should have received some type of discount. It's a shame because I think the location of the hotel is perfect.

    5
« Fun In the Sun »

I and two 16 year old grandsons just spent 10 nights at this hotel. The location being directly across the street from Newport Beach made it a perfect location. It was a delightful experience in all aspects. The staff was exceptional. The rooms are well maintained. The breakfast included was delicious with a varied menu each day. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend staying here.

    5
« Fantastic little Best Western »

Stayed at this hotel after moving from Best Western Surf City.....what a difference! The hotel was fresh and modern and the lady in the reception couldn't do enough for us. Rooms were spotless and there was a lovely pool would thoroughly recommend this hotel

  • 4
    « Good »

Rooms were nice and clean, breakfast wasn't too bad, public areas are nicely done.Chows next door has great food and the beach is very close. Traffic was a bit noisy and there are no facilities to store much luggage or shower if you have a late flight out of LA

    4
« Noisy, but good switch »

Our first room, in the front of the hotel was very noisy being on the PCH, but we asked for a change and the second night we spent in a much more quiet and comfortable room. Thanks to the staff for the help.

    3
    « Noisy Rooms »

Despite asking for a quiet room, we were checked into a room right beside a traffic light on the Pacific Coast Highway. The room was noisy night and day and there was no way the screen could be left open for fresh air. By turning the air conditioner fan up loud it would drown out some of the road noise. A two-hour power outage occurred the second night and staff did nothing to inform guests what was going on. When we decided to leave after two nights were charged an "early check out fee". Won't be back.

    2
« No so wonderful Easter weekend »

We go to Newport usually 2x a year and we always stay at this hotel. The location is amazing. The beach is across the street and the staff is always great. This time though there was a power outage at about 8:30 at night and with 2 small children we were left in the dark for 3 hours. The hotel looked like a ghost town and no staff in sight except the young girl at the front desk who was of no help. My kids and I were in the dark in our room trying to use a cell phone to see, they were scared and crying and there were police all over not sure what happened. We couldn't even walk next door to get dinner and when I asked the girl at the front desk where I could get something she said there were places in the book in our room. We ended up calling an Uber and he helped us find a place. We even bought the Uber driver dinner cause he was so helpful

    4
    « A true beach hotel »

Pros: We were just across the highway from a classic California beach where it was great to watch the surfers in the morning. The hotel offers lots of beach-related options (towels, toys, etc.) we didn't take advantage of but appreciated. It was good to be away from the bustle of the more touristy part of Newport Beach, but there are several restaurant options in the surrounding blocks. We enjoyed a dinner at Eat Chow (right next door) and had coffee at Vacancy (a block away) every morning. The staff were unfailingly nice and welcoming--they had to deal with a troublesome guest and did so with compassion and patience. Not-so-pros: Because it's a beach-y hotel, there were quite a few guests who were there to party. However, we were only woken up one of the two nights as they returned. While the lobby and breakfast room have had a nice design update, the room itself was extremely basic. Comfortable, clean, but blah. Be aware there's a charge for parking--reasonable, but might be a surprise to some. We would happily stay here again!

« Best Western Newport Beach »

Good parking in a very crowded area, Personable employees at all levels, Good breakfast with an attendant in service re-supplying and cleaning as people came and went, Next door to a couple of excellent restaurants, Near the ocean, clean modern rooms. Good safe area for walks or drives.

    « Great location »

Small hotel with a great location. Kids loved the pool, the toys they provided was a huge help. The morning breakfast was a hit-everyone found something they loved, especially the waffle maker with chocolate and strawberries on top.

« Newport beach, great hotel find. »

Newport beach, great hotel find. Across the street from surf and sand, next to great restaurant, very close to great shopping. Heated pool and little exercise room to orion out travel kinks. Truly a great find.

Great place for beach access and is affordable and clean. Would recommend for anyone staying a couple nights on the west coast. Not a lot of walking restaurants nearby, but balboa and Newport is a close drive away.

« Updated and gorgeous Inn »

We were so happy when we recently stayed at the Best Western Plus Newport Beach Inn. The hotel has been updated and redecorated and it is SO very nice. Customer Service is fabulous. The kitchen/breakfast area is spotlessly clean and they have everything you want to find for a nice breakfast at a hotel, that is included in the price. There was a $7 fee for parking as parking is a premium at that beach. Only 3 blocks away to the Sand and Water. Christine, at the Front Desk, was more than kind to us. Comfy beds, good TV, Wifi. One thing that most hotels need are Fans in the bathroom that work well. We WILL stay there again. And again.

« Our Favorite Place in Newport Beach »

We go to this area often, not just to enjoy what Newport Beach has to offer, but also for events at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. We have stayed in many different hotels in this area, and its mostly been "hit or miss". Well, we finally found the place we'll be returning to again and again. The Best Western Plus Newport Beach Inn has won us over with the clean comfortable room we had and the incredible staff. In particular, I want to compliment Christine, who was so wonderful and so friendly and helpful when she checked us in. Also, Brenda, the Breakfast Lady was AMAZING. The breakfast offered was fabulous! We will be returning here again and again as we have finally found a place we want to stayin each and every time we're in this area. I highly recommend the Best Western Plus Newport Beach Inn to everyone traveling in this area.

    « Terrible »

Small rooms, humidity everywhere, spider on one bed, terrible odor, terrible assistance at front desk. Breakfast worst ever. Inside the lift you feel everything is moving and noisy. Parking very small and narrow spots.

    « A decent place to stay »

We stayed in this hotel for one night. The exterior of the hotel does not look very inviting, but the interior is clean and respectable. we arrived around noon and were told that we could not check in because our room was not ready. We had requested a room in a quiet part of the hotel. We decided to visit the Fashion Island in Newport Beach, and the receptionist promised to call us when our room was ready. When we did not hear from her by 4 pm, we decided to come back to the hotel. There was another receptionist at work who checked us in efficiently. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room had a small refrigerator that became handy to store fruit and drinks. The bathroom did not have a towel rack and the room did not have sufficient lighting. Although our room was close to the street, we could not hear the traffic noise. There are a few coffee shops/cafes within walking distance. One has to drive About 5-8 miles to have a better choice of good food in better restaurants. The hotel serves free breakfast, which consists of cereal, bread, bagel, waffle, fruit, tea and coffee. There are two parking lots, one next to the hotel and another in an adjacent street. The hotel charge for Newport Beach was reasonable.

    « Beachside Bliss »

A block off this pristine beach is this upgraded Best Western hotel. With available ocean view rooms, close to the pier and liquor store nearby, this clean, comfortable and well managed hotel is fantastic. Rooms are spacious and well laid out. Plenty of stairs and elevators to get you to and from your room to the beach and though there is a pool on site, the Pacific Ocean is across the road. Restaurants are a short walk down the beach that will cleanse your soul and make you want to talk to local real estate agents. Hotel staff is friendly and very efficient. As I was referred here by a friend, this is my first time staying here but not my last. Plenty of parking (I have a 45' bus with a 20' trailer) (23 meter) for vehicles (check in advance). Enjoy the beach!

« Not all Ocean Views are created equal... »

With a couple of nights to spend on business in Newport Beach, this advertised ocean views. Well I id not Google map it and it turns our Ocean View is actually only Partial. Disappointing. My room smelled somewhat of a locker room. My colleague had some issues with wi-fi. A decent place to stay, just not for the Ocean Views.

« Clean, Comfortable on a busy street »

We had one night to spend near the ocean on the spur of the moment and chose Newport Beach Inn. It offered ocean view rooms, but the price was much higher than regular rooms, I asked if there was truly an ocean view, or if I could only see it by hanging out the window and looking around the corner. The reservation person told me that there was a wide highway and other buildings between the BW and the ocean, so I opted for the less expensive. I think a good idea. I was surprised on checking in that they made me sign an agreement that they would charge me $300 upfront for any damage or infactions I might commit and would be credited to my card after the maid reported. That would have been a deal breaker if I'd known about it ahead of time. Anyway, the room was clean, internet service exceptional, within walking distance of the beach--that major highway has traffic lights that make it easier to get across to the beach side. The parking lot is tiny and there is a $7 per night charge to park. The complimentary breakfast was typical cereals, pastries juice, etc. The area was clean and kept well stocked. There were many restaurants in walking distance. There was never a time early or late where we were not aware of traffic sounds. No blaring horns or screeching breaks, but a constant stop momentarily at the light then rushing on again. I liked the man at check-in but was less impressed with the woman at check-out. I asked if someone was going up to my room to look at it and refund the $300 charge. She said, "Did you break or steal anything?" I said no, and she said "Then you don't have anything to worry about." Only getting three thousand miles away and finding they'd kept my money for something I didn't do. She needs a better answer. Would I stay there again? Probably not, there are many other hotels in the area.

    « Lovely stay »

The hotel is perfect to spend days near the beach and relax. The rooms are clean and well decor. The hospitality of the workers is really nice, they help you with everything and always with a big smile. They rent you with no cost special chairs, and umbrellas for the beach, and its really usefull. It has parking next to the hotel, and it offers a free continental breakfast which is perfect to start the day. I really enoyed my stay in here.

« Close to the beach! »

This hotel is a quick walk to the beach (about a block) which was perfect for us. The room was large, but a typical hotel room with no real thrills. Parking was a bit crowded but we managed. There are a couple of close places to eat as well.

    « Lovely Stay! »

My friend and stayed here to attend a concert in nearby Santa Ana. What a lovely hotel! Clean, very nicely decorated, lots of amenities, and with a friendly, genuine staff. Try the breakfast nook, the food was delicious! Rooms were clean, comfortable, and the location is only 4 miles from Newport Pier and 15 from Huntington Beach (a must see!) I would stay here again. Thanks!

    « Wonderful Stay »

Between the view, the staff and the amenities one could not ask for much more. Great place to visit and stay and especially so close to the beach. Loved every minute of my stay will be back again soon.

    « Adequate »

Spent two nights at this hotel. Booked on booking.com. Chose it because of rates and proximity to ocean and Balboa Pier. Room was clean except my bed had blood stains on the comforter, sheets and one pillowcase. The stains were fresh so they could not have come out of the laundry like this. Both beds were uncomfortable. The pool was quite small and did not look very clean. I paid $250 a night for the room and I think it was more like a $125 or $150 a night room even in Newport Beach. We spent the next two nights in Laguna Beach for $125 per night in an equally nice hotel. For the money I would stay in Laguna Beach in the future.

« Very, very pleased with stay »

This hotel was delightful. We felt comfortable. Rooms were clean, breakfast fast and good. Staff was "over the top" helpful and professional. August and Gabby were special to us at the front desk. Thank you both. Parking was always available (very important) and short walk to beautiful beach was awesome. I feel like a commercial, but we really did enjoy this hotel and location and everything that came with it.

« clean and great location »

Great location, walking distance to restaurants, and beach. Clean rooms and a nice small pool. short cab ride to bars and shopping. Must be a good surfing area because of many people surfing but the waves were not very tall.

« One of few hotels in Newport close to the beach! »

Very nice stay for a beach get away. Only compliant our balcony was next to the Best Western sign. Very deceiving went driving into parking lot at night. Room was large and clean. Hotel provided breakfast, beach chairs and umbrellas, rental bikes, and was an easy walk to the beach. Would definitely stay here again!

« Best Western Plus in Newport Beach »

Great experience! The customer service far exceeded our expectations. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Also, the location was perfect; literally across the street from the beach. We would definitely stay here again.

« Friendly Staff, great room »

The location of the hotel is just a crosswalk from the beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the entire place was clean and well cared for. We never woke up in time to have the breakfast, but the room it was served in was open all day if you wanted to bring in food. There was use of the microwave and plates etc. The pool was heated; something I thought was unnecessary until a return from the chilly beach after sunset! It was clean and enjoyable. My only complaint is the parking. Both lots are very small, and my car was backed into during our last night. Not a note was left, but the damage was minimal at least. I will stay here in the future for sure!

« Good Location, could be better. »

Great Location, needs some improvements. Hallway plaster was coming off. Noisy guests in the room next door. Parking is 7.00 which is not disclosed at time of reservations. Small parking lot. Breakfast was good but the room needs to be bigger or more seats at least.

« Best located Hotel in Newport »

I have been for one night in the Best Western Hotel in Newport Beach. The Hotel is located at the Pacific Coast highway and just 5 minutes away walking to the beach. It has the perfect spot between Huntington Beach and Laguna Beach because you can go both ways to the most amazing beaches in Southern California. There is a bus stop too, to drive down to Laguna Beach, parking is always painful! I used on Sunday morning the bike from the hotel and drove to Huntington Beach which was awesome, it is a quick drive! If you go early in the morning, there are not so many people, just surfers and jogger. The room was very comfortable and clean. There is a nice pool and the beach towels are included. Breakfast is always between 6.30am - 9.30 am they have fresh fruits, orange juice, coffee, cereals, yoghurt, bagels, toast, fresh waffles, bacon and eggs. I really enjoyed my stay and I hope I can come really soon again! Thanks!

    « Great beach hotel »

This hotel is great. The staff was very professional. They have all the things that you will need for the beach, so you don't have to bring your own, such as boogie boards, chairs, and umbrellas. This hotel is located near many restaurants that are only a short bike ride away. Would recommend this hotel for family get a ways!

« Hotel next to the beach »

Nice hotel, across from the beach in Newport. Can be noisy since it is next to the 1. Free breakfast, and they offer free to lend beachgear and towels. Had a good experience here. Parking is possible next to hotel and overflow nexr door. All personnel very friendly.

    5
    « Beautiful and accessible »

This hotel provides easy and close beach access. The size is comfortable and due to its small size is not crowded or hectic. The beach access is out the door and across the street - a few minutes at worst. Restaurants are close and a good variety. It provides perfect accommodations for a relaxing week at the beach!

« Wanted something close to the beach. »

We wanted to be close to the beach and we got it. Nice clean B.W hotel. The person who checked us in was very nice and it was an easy check in. The walk to the beach is like 2 min at best. The only thing is parking is very limited but that is how it is all over N.B. Breakfast was good and they have pretty good coffee. We would definitely stay again.

What a pleasant staff who addressed me by name and showed concern and interest in our visit to welcome a grandchild's arrival at Hoag Hospital! Special shout out to Gabby and Christina at the front desk! for their personal touch!

    « MINI FAMILY VACAY »

This mini vacation was the best we've experienced in all our overnight stays to Newport. Aside from having to cross the street to get to the beach, we had no issues at all. The room was clean, the staff was very attentive and always smiled, and a small assortment of snacks for purchase in the lobby made this stay so easy. We even extended our stay. Out of all the places we've stayed in Newport, this was by far the best.

    4
« good value, great location »

friendly staff, clean rooms, nothing fancy, but good value, bike rentals and beach equipment available, great location - right across the street from the beach and some of the best surf spots in the area.

« Not the ocean view we expected! »

The hotel fit our need to relax at the beach and we have no complaints about the hotel itself or their customer service. However, we paid extra for an ocean view room, and this is what we got. The hotel is across the Coast Highway and the view is a small one between two residential buildings. We felt this was very misleading.

    « "Great Time" »

As you all know all reviews are not created equal. However, I've always had great experiences with Best Western Plus and the Newport Beach Inn is no different. My wife and I are both health care professionals so we know what service is. The staff at this location takes customer service to another level. I would assign very high marks to everyone including the house keeping. The front office was very professional and I look forward to staying there again. This was an "A+ experience????"

« Great place by the beach! »

    « Great Stay »

Had a great stay at the Newport Beach Best Western. The hotel is very clean and the staff is great. The front desk is friendly and welcoming. The hotel does a great job of keeping beach sand under control. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Wireless internet access is solid. This hotel is a good choice for visiting Newport Beach.

« Nearly Perfect Oasis Within Walking Distance to Golden Gem! »

Our stay was great! Upon arriving, Auguste - the gentlemen who assisted w/ checking us in for our stay - was beyond friendly, professional and courteous. We were greeted with a smile and were checked-In within 5 mins of arriving (arrived between 6-7 pm on a Monday). Auguste was brilliant and thorough in explaining the associated fees already expected for the stay and any add'l fees (parking was $7/per night within their two parking locations - which are very limited and are marked for SUV/Car parking, but not all guests complied. We were not able to park in the lots on our last night due to lack of available spaces and had to ride up and down the streets to obtain parking, however, upon checking out, we were refunded the $7 for that night w/o any issue). Auguste also made sure to tell us where we cld locate the cart for our luggage, alternate routes to enter and exit the hotel, ice machine and the dining area (breakfast is served between 6-9:30 am daily - consisting of Belgain waffles (both large and small), different breads, egg patties (better than Subway's offerings), round sausage (think McD's), coffee (served all day), fruit and muffins with syrup and jam...all complimentary for your stay, and we were assisted with making the waffles.. The Lobby was conveniently located in the hotel, which was a plus because we did need assistance during our stay a few times. We were given a room on the lower level by the pool (made it a bit noisy with patrons coming in and out, but the main door was only able to be accessed with the room card key which made for extra comfort and security). The room itself was a plus! I was a bit worried with previous reviews, but I feel as though we got more than what we bargained for; given the area. The only drawback was being on the lower level with the above noise from the guests with younger children who made noise at all times of day, and the walls seemed a bit too thin. We were greeted with the air conditioning running - huge plus, a proper desk area with a chair and a dresser with a built-in cabinet housing a neat little fridge (looked like a wine chiller. NOTE: the drinks get much cooler at the bottom, not top!!!), coffee maker with coffee, cream, sugar and tea was located on the dresser above the fridge. There was a nice, comfy leather sofa/couch with ottoman next to the bed which was a welcomed surprise! I enjoy lounging in the room at times, but don't always enjoy lying down, so I was thrilled! The double beds were very comfy, clean and the pillows were great, but the double beds were a bit tiny for us...adequate for the stay, but wldve been great if they were proper Queen size - will know next time. The bathroom and shower area were clean and spacious to my taste. We were delightfully surprised with the Bath & Body Works toiletries! SUCH A NICE, WELCOMED TOUCH! The towels and wash clothes were ample and clean and the closet area provided a mirror so you had doubled space to get ready. The room also came with a wall-mounted flat screen t.v. with cable. Other travelers had reviewed that floor/carpet was a bit dirty, and ours was not the cleanest, but I did not feel disgusted, in the least. The room was rather dim for our liking and cld use brighter bulbs, but we managed and enjoyed. The hotel, like most places in California, is smoke-free - even outside if you are close by the building...just a heads up :) But, this hotel was great! We enjoyed the short walking distance to the beach, and were upset that we did not pay close enough attn to the Eat Chow restaurant just over the wall/fence from the hotel (convenient for cheaper, delicious food!). Contrary to other reviews, the PCH or Pacific Coast Hwy to cross and walk over to the beach was not bad at all. The cars obeyed the signs and lights and we made it there just fine with LOADS of things in our arms. All in all, the stay was great, but too short :) We will definitely recommend and be back for another visit! Thank you!

    « Weeks break... »

The hotel is clean, economical and perfectly located on the PCH to travel up and down to local attractions. Breakfast room is a little small but a decent variety of options on offer every morning. Also the beautiful beach of Newport Beach is one minute away from the hotel! ??

    3
    « California Beach Vacation »

Not a bad hotel, but a very average hotel in and kind of between Newport and Huntington beaches. The parking was tight and there were very few restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast area was tight and the pool was kind of an afterthought .Don't expect to be wowed! It is s close to the beach however and the beach was very nice. You'll have to drive most everywhere you want to go though.

    5
« Excellent Staff and Great Rooms »

I will stay at this hotel in the future just for the staff! I have never had such a great experience with a hotel staff as I have here. Courteous and helpful and just down to earth. The rooms are wonderful and clean - not to mention the great breakfast!

    5
« Convenient location at a great price »

I found it on Groupon and picked it based on other reviews and pictures. It's very close to Fashion Island mall and Balboa Island. It's also a few steps away from the beach! The hotel has been updated recently, rooms are on the smaller side, but have refrigerators. Also, breakfast is included. They had bagels, waffles, patties, eggs, fruit, oatmeal, etc. Something for everybody in the family. The downside is you gave to pay for parking, but I noticed parking is a big deal in CA.

« Great location, but Average Quality »

The price for the hotel at this location (just minute walk to the beach) was great, but you are definitely getting more of an average experience. The room is great if you're planning on spending most of your time at the beach and not in the room. The noise level during our stay was out of control - kids were running up and down the hall and knocking on our door until 9pm. The breakfast was HORRIBLE - not well stocked, the waffle machine wasn't working, coffee had grounds in it and the sausage/eggs were obviously microwaved. I would avoid it and get breakfast elsewhere. The free bike rentals were a great touch, but other than that, nothing wow'd me. Probably going to stay somewhere else next time I visit Newport.

    5
    « Great Beach Hotel »

The manager Christina is great. Great place to stay near the beach. Clean rooms. Convenient parking. Quiet. Decent breakfast and coffee. Will def stay here again for both business and personal travel with my family.

    5
    « Beach access »

This hotel is located across the boulevard from the beach, with convenient access. There is a heated pool which is wonderful! The hotel is well appointed, with a full breakfast buffet available. There is parking on site, with a $7.00 per day fee. The staff is responsive and courteous. The hotel has a "small hotel-like" feel that is very comfortable. Definitely would stay here again, given competitive rates and location to beach.

    4
    « Very Good - Value & Location »

Staff (from reception to kitchen staff) were friendly, welcoming and happy to engage in conversation. Check-in was straight forward as our booking was made online. Staff was accommodating when we wanted extending our check-out time to mid afternoon rather than 11 am and did not cost the earth ! The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the beach and at least 4 eateries. The accommodation we'd booked was a deluxe room with a partial sea view, which was accurate. On a good day with with fair-good waves, you could actually see the crashing crests from the balcony. The room was sizable, located on the main highway, but traffic was not the main noise at night. The air conditioning unit was rather loud and not conducive for a good night's sleep. Essentially, the room was clean, the queen sized bed was comfortable with lovely sturdy pillows and other furnishings were standard (desk, wardrobe) or a bonus (2 seater sofa). The bathroom was also clean as was the towels, though they weren't overly fluffy. The 'shower' was via a mixer tap, but was functional and hot enough. Breakfast was included in the room cost and it was lovely NOT to see a croissant in sight ! Hot food was also available, but it was predominantly a healthy selection of cereal, yoghurt, juice. Waffles could be freshly made on request buy a member of the kitchen staff. Most guests are likely to have driven to the hotel, which has ample parking, but the bus stops (heading northbound to Long Beach, and southbound to San Clemente) are outside the hotel. You just have to be aware of the live travel information, which is fairly accurate ! We were able to check this with the free hotel WiFi. Overall, an enjoyable stay.

    « Nice weekend stay »

Stayed for Mother's Day weekend with the family. Nice little hotel. Nothing too fancy but not run down. Nice decor. A plus for the free beach equipment to borrow! Beach was a short walk across the PCH and hardly any people there. Another plus! Don't bother getting a room with a beach view, rooms not high enough and noisy. Hardly spent time in the room anyways. Free breakfast, simple with the basics. Parking not free ($7)

    5
    « Awesome Beach Access »

Easy registration and parking accommodations. Spacious room with very welcoming and helpful staff. So close to the beach, walked everywhere! Very generous check-in/ check-out times, I really appreciated that. Close by many food services with speedy delivery times. Nothing was overlooked, loved every minute of it .

    « Excellent »

Unbeatable location, with the ocean located just across the street and visible from the property. This had the feeling of an upscale boutique hotel - beautifully appointed, professionally staffed. Excellent stay, all around.

« Clean, Friendly Staff, Close to Beach »

This hotel was perfect for my clients to stay when they were in town. Its very clean, the staff is as friendly as they get, and its steps from the beach. The rooms were a good size and they had a nice little pool in case you want to take a dip.

    « Pleasantly Surprised! »

My wife is frugal, and I like the nicer things in life for a few extra dollars. This hotel was very clean, very courteous staff, and I was very comfortable. Plus, it was only a few steps away from the beach! I would definitely stay here again.

« if you want no sleep »

Horrible bed and pillows. Street noise keeps you up all night even when your off the back of the hotel. The shower took 10 minutes to get hot water as well. The towels were extremely rough like they have never seen softening agents in the wash.

    « Newport Getaway »

Made a last minute decision to go to Newport Beach for the night. Kids were having friends over, end of spring break, roof leak, so construction going on, needed a quick getaway. Chose this hotel. The outside could use some updating. Inside very modern and nice. Employees very friendly. Rooms very nice, newly renovated it looked like. PCH was very loud with the slider open, but once we closed it, couldn't hear a thing. Walked to the beach right across the street to watch the sunset. Walked next door to Spaghetti Bender for some yummy carb loading and wine! The bed was super comfortable. Had the free breakfast in the morning--Great! Eggs, bacon, fruit, waffles, bread and muffins. Nice eating area as well. It's right across from the beach, so the price was to be expected, but still not bad.

    2
« Check construction and front desk personnel »

Check construction work prior to booking. Get all fees rates ect. In writing, I personally will never go back there. They offer free breakfast but the construction dust was every where so I chose not to eat there. I'm sure it's a nice hotel when it's not under construction but the front desk personnel was the absolute worse to deal with.

    4
« Coming back to Best Western Plus for sure »

The rooms were not available for us when we arrived on time for check-in, so we went to the store and came back and then it was all ready for us. The location was excellent and I took the advise of prior guests (from reading the reviews) to stay in a room in the back of the building, since it is right on noisy and busy PCH. The rooms were clean and everything seems to have been recently updated. Even the air conditioners seemed to be. The breakfast wasn't the best complimentary breakfast that we have ever had from hotels, but most importantly, we were full afterwards. We will be back here again for sure!

    2
« No outlets in bathroom?? »

The lobby has been updated, but the rooms are in desperate need of attention. The bathroom had no outlets to plug in any appliances. Walls are thin and we heard noise throughout the night. Convenient to the beach, if that's what you're looking for.

    3
« Decent, affordable for area »

The hotel was under construction for renovations which was not disclosed when I made the reservation. The first night the lights in our hallway were not installed so it was really dark. It was noisy and busy with workers but all in all it's a nice place to stay somewhat affordably for the area with quick access to lots of beach activities (although the price considering the inconveniences of construction was pretty high).

    4
« Right across from the beach! »

We have stayed here for spring break two years in a row and you cannot beat just having to cross the street to get to the beach. The hotel has all of the beach towels, chairs, and toys for you to borrow for free. They have a free breakfast that is slightly above average, too. There is ongoing remodeling happening, but it never disturbed us. Their maid service seems stretched a bit thin, as each day when we got back at 4:30pm to shower for dinner, they were JUST THEN cleaning our room and we had to wait. I will still stay here again!

    « Great little getaway »

We stayed here last summer, the rooms are very clean, and the location is literally across the street from the beach, restaurants are within walking distance, as well as the famous greenhouse surf shop, the pool is very nice, and is kept at an abnormally high temperature it was about 90° which is perfect for swimming at night after swimming in the ocean all day, parking is limited but there is parking on the street. We will definitely stay here again.

    « Nice time »

Great access to the beach, restaurants nearby are good, great staff. Enjoyed the stay a lot. Rooms are clean and the breakfast was good too. It's a BW Plus...well worth it if you want to be near the beach and have a good time.

    « good stay »

After being on the road all day with three teenagers it was nice to find a clean reasonably priced hotel to stay the night. The checkin was simple though you do have to pay for parking in their lot. Breakfast was good and the room was clean.

« Pricey for what you get »

Hotel is average but the cost is very high. I've stayed in much nicer beach resorts for much less money. This is just an average hotel but the price was way up there. If you are on the street side of the hotel, traffic noise is kind of loud too.

    « A lot better than anticipated »

I haven't stated at a Best Western since I was a kid and I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was wonderful, the location was great and the rooms were surprisingly nice (and very clean). The location was good, very close to everything we wanted to visit and overall was very happy with our stay.

« Good... but weird pillows »

Our stay is what I would expect from a Best Western but there were some minor issues that the reader should be aware of before booking here. We checked in late but the courteous and friendly front desk clerk held our room. (Not sure if the staff stayed late for us but if so, thanks.) We went to the room right away and noticed a heavy odor of cleaners and the air a bit stale. Turning the AC on helped a lot. The room and bathroom was clean and acceptable. We slept fairly well but the hotel uses four hard throw cushions instead of pillows. I found a regular pillow in the closet that I wished they had simply put on the bed for me to use instead of the throw pillows. The breakfast buffet off the lobby was good. Particularly nice was the attendant who made and served fresh waffles to order and brought them to your table. There was some construction going on here during our stay. If you are sleeping late or taking a midday nap, this may be a concern. Overall, staff was very good, room was clean but average.

    « Sister weekend »

The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and the location is excellent. I'd recommend this location to my family and friends. I like that it's a quick walk to the beach and there are a couple of places to eat within walking distance. I like that it's located on the Pacific Highway making travel easy.

Newport Beach is considered one of the best beaches in the U.S. The community o Newport/Huntington Beach is one of the pricier places in California. Most of the hotels are pricewise on a par with the major cities. Not so with the Best Western Plus. It is very reasonably priced and very well appointed. The beds are perfect, room and bathroom spotless and all the carpeting is new. The staff is super friendly and accommodating . It's location is right on US One, the Pacific Coast Hwy. and access to the beach is right across the street. They even supply, free of charge , beach chairs for the guests Most hotels/ motels on the California coast have small rooms, not so here . There was a large seating area, a full size bath and plenty of closet space. The breakfast was the usual Best Western fare but a step up, there was even an attendant to make the waffles and clear the tables. There is a deli , restaurant, liquor store within a very short walk. Parking is $7 extra , but anyone who complained about a tight parking area , probably couldn't park their car on a football field How anyone can complain about anything here is beyond me. It's not the Waldorf Astoria, but it is one of the better motels on the coast.

    « Convenient to Beach »

This hotel is across the street from Newport Beach, CA. They let you borrow beach chairs and umbrellas as well as beach toys. Their pool is a warm 76 degrees. Breakfast was wonderful with many choices. Every room had a fridge, so you can keep drinks and leftovers cold. The main problem here was the noise. Inconsiderate people banged on doors in the middle of the night and made it very unpleasant to sleep.

    « Great happy hotel! »

Kristine checked us in with a huge smile. Everyone was so helpful. The hotel was right near the beach and for the price you simply can not beat it. I've stayed at at least 6 other hotels in the area when visiting and this was by far the best. This will be my new hotel for every time i visit.

« Nice hotel, close to the beach »

Nice and affordable hotel in one of the most expensive areas in Newport Beach, California. Close proximity to the beach, Laguna Beach and Fashion Island. Short distance to LA, or to the dessert resorts.

« Good location except for noise on PCH. »

I've stayed here several times. The hotel is fine. The noise from PCH is only tolerable if you have the AC on. It is only one half block from a gorgeous beach, with easy access to Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, and Long Beach.

    « Surf City spot »

This is a convenient location, close to the beach with a nice heated pool. Staff was very friendly and helpful, but the rooms are of average quality for the price. Breakfast lacks healthy choices and is filled with sugary options - not the best if you are looking for healthy eating. Pillows quality is very average.

    « Nice stay »

The location was fantastic - close to popular beaches (short drive), good restaurant selection (short drive), hotel was clean and neat and bed was comfortable. We had an issue with the bathtub that was fixed within minutes of calling the front desk. Service was great. We didn't get to try out the pool because the temperature was cool during our stay, but it also looked lovely. Breakfast was included and had a good selection.

« Room Lacking for price »

Location close to beach and price was high for the small room. The bed was uncomfortable, too soft, the room small, and the room was too hot. I had to run the Air at this time of year. The room was clean, the breakfast was fine, although it appeared that they were just starting to offer any hot items. We had to pay extra to park our car. The staff was very considerate and easy to deal with.

    « Simple & Cozy »

The Best Western in Newport Beach, California is one of the best Hotels I have stayed at for convenience and pleasure plus at a good value. The staff is very nice and the breakfast is very good with terrific staff! It is not over the top in luxury but the amenities are more than adequate and comfortable. It is a clean Hotel that is very nice it has good service and the location is awesome! You just walk across Pacific Coastal Hwy. 1 and you are on the Newport Beach! There are shops and restaurants of every kind close by. Disneyland is about 25 minutes away and Los Angeles 40 Minutes.

« Cross the highway to world class beaches »

A great place to stay in Newport with comfortable clean rooms and a short walk across the Highway to some of the best beaches in the US. Located on the Pacific Coast Highway the Newport Beach Inn has a few little licensed eateries within very short walking distance and a fantastic little Italian restaurant right next door.

    « Good Location. »

The front staff people were great. Nice. Fast check in. I never heard anything from any of the other guests. The pool was nice and heated. The breakfast room is quite small, and the serving is the same everyday. Very limited. Also, the parking lot is very small, and it's very hard to get in and out, as well as back up. It's also $7 a day. No real complaints though.

    « Great hotel »

Friendly staff, clean rooms, close to the beach and activities. Three great restaurants next door, Spaghetti Blender, Big Belly Deli, walk across the street to the beach, couple miles drive to Balboa island, went whale watching,

    « great stay »

I stayed at the Best Western in Newport Beach over the Christmas holiday. It was very convenient to my family in Huntington Beach. It was a great price for being just a few minutes walk to the beach. Everyone at the front desk & housekeeping were very friendly & helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

« Great location, excellent value, parking not so good... »

Stayed at the hotel for three nights in early December. Had an ocean view which was nice but the AC unit smelled like antifreeze when ran. Problem did not get fixed while we were there. The heavy traffic made leaving the slider open while sleeping impossible. There is a tiny parking lot you have to pay an extra $7 to park in and if you stay out late there isn't available parking even though you have to pay for it. Lame. However, this property is located just across the street from a nice sandy beach and the sunsets are truly incredible from the third & fourth floor rooms. For the price, this is Newport Beach's best value.

« Cute boutique hotel, less than 1 minute walk to ocean! »

I travel a lot and this hotel was one of the rare "gems" that felt perfect to me--steps away from the ocean, with bike rentals to ride along the beach, a good breakfast was included, great, friendly staff, free wifi, and cozy, private, clean rooms. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family who want to get away. A lovely Italian restaurant is within walking distance where the butternut squash dish was amazing and the tiramisu coupon that the hotel gave us with our hotel key was an extra treat. I was at a conference during the days when I stayed there, so the 30 second walk to the beach before the work days began was very much appreciated and possible even though I don't champion myself a morning person. Personally, i also found it's location perfect as I enjoyed being away from the city strip. We did use a rental car, uber, and lyft to get to other beaches/cities...but if you're looking for a getaway, wanting to be near to the beach, with everything you can need right at the hotel- this is your place!

« EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM ARTHUR!!! »

I called in last minute to book my employee after midnight, Arthur was working the night audit and I was blown away with his service and told him that I was going to write a review to say how thankful I am. He was friendly and accommodated all my needs also made sure there was going be no issues checking in since I was having major problems at BW Costa Mesa front desk. Thank you so much Arthur! I hope you manager reads this review and know what a great asset you are to their company. Erika

    « Good room...needs some work »

The room was nice, but smaller than expected. The air conditioner was very noisy and the bathroom wallpaper has seen better days. The bed was comfy. The lobby is modern and nice and the staff is very friendly. Location is good...but on the main street in Newport Beach.

« Great Value. Great Location. »

Definitely got a great value for the location, comfort and friendly staff. I will stay again. Not the fanciest but I didn't want to pay too much. This was a GREAT compromise allowing me to be near the beach and all amenities without having to pay so much. Enjoyed being able to grab a bike and take off on the board walk, no parking issues... felt safe... it was quiet. Everything I needed.

« Great place to stay »

Hotel was very clean, staff were courteous & attentive. Bed was super comfortable & remote (which is where the most germs normally reside) was in a sleeve that said it had been sanitized! When the staff learned that we were celebrating our 36th anniversary they upgraded us to an ocean view suite at no extra charge. Very thoughtful gesture!

« ON GOING BUILDING WORK SPOILED STAY »

the hotel location is not the best you need a taxi to go anywhere in the evening as the few places open near the hotel were shut by 9.00pm. the pool area is very small and poor. the couple of sunbeds they had had broken legs and tended to fold up under you. the worst thing was the noise of the builders and the cart load of tools in the corridors.had we been told of the building work when we booked we would have stayed somewhere else. I cant believe the hotel did not know about the ongoing repairs until the day we arrived

    « Exceptional experience »

This hotel is outstanding. It is well maintained and the staff is very welcoming. It is in a lovely location and the rooms are exceptional. The beds are very comfortable. Kristine Ekimyan is the Guest Services Supervisor. She is incredible. I can't say enough about the hotel and Kristine.

    « Great Stay »

Not only were the accommodations great but so was the location. We were close enough to walk to the beach Saturday and Sunday morning. Saturday night we ate at Eat Chow located behind the motel. Great food and we didn't need to drive at all.

The staff were great. Clean rooms. Great breakfast. What else can you ask for. The hotel is located across the beach which was very convenient for us. The staff even made me a waffle in the morning. How sweet is that?

« Great "homebase" hotel for our coastal roadtrip! »

We stayed here for one of our stops on our drive down the coast towards San Diego. The hotel is located right on the hwy which is quite busy and loud at times but if you keep the door closed it's quiet. It's also close to he beach - right across the hwy. Newport Beach is a wonderful clean and wide beach with killer waves. Lots of surfers and boogie-boarders. The hotel had some Tommy Bahama beach chairs and sunbrellas for guest use (n/c) which we totally made use of. The A/C worked great as all of SoCal was experiencing a scorching heatwave! 10 degrees above normal which was fine with us! Our room had an oceanview, small view, but still an oceanview!! The pool was quite small but refreshing after a day at the beach. There were some nice poolside tables and loungers too. The location is great, we went into Huntington Beach a couple times, which was only a short drive up the coast - maybe 10 mins. There was a good amount of hotel parking on the premises and across the street. One night we had the hotel order us a taxi to drive us and pick us up in Irvine for a concert. It was maybe 25/30 mins away, super easy to get to and was about $75. There is a cool little liquor store next door which is convenient if you want to grab a few beverages for the room. There are also a handful of fairly nice restaurants that are walkable. Overall I really liked this hotel, I'd definitely stay there again. The rooms were quite roomy, the beds comfy and the wifi worked well. There was breakfast in the morning - with a variety of things from yogurt to waffles. The staff was very welcoming and treated their rewards customers warmly. Would stay there again!

    « Great location...close to beach »

Great hotel. Pleasant staff. Clean facility. Walking distance to beach. Cappy's restaurant a block away is great for breakfast. This hotel is right on PCH (Hwy 1) and easy to find. Parking is a little tight in the main lot but they have an overflow lot that is easily accessible. You can't get much closer to the beach. This property is also close to Balboa Island, a great spot to watch the sunset and hand with kids. Try the Ferry for fun as well.

« Good beach location but a drive to the main shops, restaurants etc »

More of a motel, friendly staff, room was OK, no problems. Wi-Fi Ok, not fast. Breakfast OK, only stayed one night. Main disappoint was distance from main 'downtown' area and main road location but the beach is close by across the main road.

« Not your normal Best Western »

Rather than stay in Los Angeles downtown for 2 days of business visits, decides to drive down the Pacific Coast Highway and find a hotel near the beach. I wanted a hotel with a balcony so I could get out and watch the sunset and happened upon this one. Pleasantly surprised. When I walked in the door, it was obvious this was not your normal Best Western. Totally updated, California cool. Our room, 401, was also recently refreshed. Very clean and although partially obscured, an ocean view indeed. Corry at the front desk was very helpful and nice. As many have said, a 2 minute walk to the beach. As to price, you have a choice in this area...way back off the beach for $100, on the beach for $300+++, or something like this property which suited me perfectly at $150.

« Rating based on personal experience not so much the property itself. Property 4 out of 5 »

So I booked this hotel off of an App on my phone. One of the key features that attracted me to this hotel was a heated pool. I got checked in and the clerk was friendly enough. I went upstairs and changed into a bathing suit and went to the pool. It was about 8pm and the pool area was very dark. I climbed into the pool and it was too cold for me. The pool must have been in the low 70's I was in the ocean earlier and that water was actually warmer then the pool. This really bummed me out and I went to the clerk and mentioned the pool she offered to call someone and said "Sorry" but I explained I doubt anyone she calls could heat the pool right away. I stayed in room 208 right over the lobby. I heard an inconsistent grinding noise. It was loud enough to wake me up several times at night. Asked the desk what it was they said "sorry" but perhaps an AC ... well it turns out I was looking out the window when someone left the building. It was the sliding glass door to the parking lot. It makes a lot of noise. I talked to the desk and got "Sorry" ... again I wasn't feeling they cared that much. The bed was firm.. and at first I was laughing at the little pillows on the bed. Not your standard pillow but perhaps a 16" square... Was going to complain to the front desk about that in the morning but it turns out. The smaller pillow is actually easier for me to sleep with. I really like that plan on getting some smaller pillows at home now. Other positive things is you can rent a bicycle from the hotel to cruise around Newport Beach. The rate is very affordable the hotel also offers free of charge, beach blankets, chairs and some things I am forgetting to hang out at the beach across the street. That is awesome! Another notes of interest - WiFi I wouldn't say it was fast in some cases it was slow but not sure if that is because of my Macbook or what not.. Plus I have a real fast connection at home. Breakfast is a step above the generic continental breakfast. They have waffle machines :) Also it costs $7 to park your car. The rate and location is pretty good and it was the disappointment of a cold pool and not much sleep that earned my rating. But I would stay there again just not in 208 and here is why. I contacted Best Western after I got home and they explained that hotels are independently run and they will look into these matters. They truly cared about my experience and wanted to make it right. They gave me some bonus points on their reward program and thanked me for calling. It isn't much, not a free night or anything but it was an acknowledgement that things could have been done better. I realize there was no way for them to advertise the pool was cold or know that the grinding noise kept me awake.. Now if I stay there again and the door is still loud and the pool is still cold I would lose my mind and ask for a complete refund as they shouldn't advertise a year round heated pool if they don't have one. The door should get fixed but will it? No idea.

    « Great Location-BUT...., »

Great location of you want close proximity to the beach, cheap parking and short drive to shopping and restaurants. The rooms on the other hand were a very big disappointment , they smelled musty and moldy. The AC was horrible, it was loud and definitely needed to be replaced . The rooms need and entire overhaul.
