Best Western Plus Marina Gateway Hotel

I was very comfortable dealing with the staff member at the Marina Gateway . The front desk tried their best to accommodate me with and they fulfilled all my requests..Special thanks to Cecilia and Annie... Also , I was amazed of the hotel location and proximity of airport and the beaches. I will be coming back for more of San Diego and National City.

Cecilla, Chnong, and Danny all provided a terrific experience as they always do. I've stayed at this hotel on multiple occasions while traveling from the Mid-West. They even recognize me upon arrival and remember personal details. Will definitely keep booking at this location.

Chuong and Daniel are very well presented and very well welcoming workers for my experience at arrival! They both have a positive and outstanding presence and that's just the start of this stay. Can't wait to experience the rest of the days.

Approximately 2 weeks ago, I brought my kids here. They loved it, the pool was heated, the internet was on perfect for my teens. I generally stay for business, been coming for many years and the people are awesome. Everyone is family oriented. Cecilia and her front team are always a pleasure with great smiles and attitude.

I stayed here for the first time in December 2023 and had a great experience, so I decided to book again and had another great stay. Chuong and Annie really went above and beyond during the check-in process and were able to get me into my room a bit early since the room was already prepared. A big thanks to the housekeeping staff, Anna and Alma, for having the room all cleaned and ready that way I was able to check in a bit early and recover from my early flight!

Thank you once again to Annie and Cecilia at the front desk for their excellent work and professionalism throughout my stay. We haven't stayed there long n a little bit but the front desk is still held strong by those two. Rooms are still very nice and comfortable.

I visit this hotel for work travel and it has everything that's needed for my stay. The restaurant and bar are next door, coffee station in lounge area, pool and spa. It's close to many stores , bases and other places to eat.

We love it so much that this is our fourth time in one year staying at this hotel! Cecilia, Annie, and Alma at front desk were very friendly. Cecilia even called the room to see if everything was fine. The staff is helpful and hard working. The hotel is clean, well-kept and safe. Fitness center and pool are nice features. It's close to the airport, restaurants, stores and beaches. Also, there is ample free parking. It exceeds our expectations. Definitely book your next hotel stay here!

Our family of four had a great time. Outstanding front desk staff, too. They were very helpful with arrangements for us to stay an extra night on short notice. Our main regret was not being aware that their pool is heated. We did not bring our swimsuits. Highly recommended.

Nice quiet place. Clean and comfortable. Check-in was quick and efficient. Staff was very helpful in answering questions. Check-out was also quick and easy with Cecilia and Annie. Kimball's Restaurant is right there and has excellent food and service and you receive 10% discount for staying at the Best Western.

They let me check in early as a courtesy! They were very nice and gave me a goodie bag of snacks and a water. The hotel was clean. It was friendly. It was quick. The water pressure was great. Cecilia, Annie, and Missael were helpful and made the process easy and efficient.

Great customer service from Cecilia and Danny! Truely made me feel like I owned the place and they are very respectful and helpful! Got me and my wife into an amazing clean room, impressed my wife and made me look like I'm great at planning and I done something amazing.

The rooms were very clean, modern, and very accommodating. Hotel staff was amazing, especially the hotel manager Manuel. We had a 30 person baseball team with us and Manuel was so great with accommodating our team's needs. Rooms were spacious and clean with very comfortable beds. Cleaning staff was great and made sure the rooms were clean each day. The pool and hot tub were nice and spacious. Very big parking lot to accommodate lots of cars. This hotel's location was also perfect, right by tons of restaurants, while also being very accessible to the highway. Such a great experience staying here at the Best Western Plus Marina Gateway! We can't wait to be back.

The rooms are super clean and cozy. The swimming pool is heated to perfection and parking is never an issue with plenty of surveillance cameras and staff to monitor the premises you feel safe here.The staff is very friendly and accommodating Id like to say thank you to Chuong, Cecilla, Misseal Marisa and Alfredo There are more names but I can't think of them all for making me and my friends and family feel at home as I stay here often great people.

My family and I (2 adults and 3 kids) stayed at this hotel 5 nights in March 2024. Location was so convenient for us. Plenty of parking with easy access to the rooms. We did not like the hotel does not offer daily housekeeping services. My kids enjoyed the heated pool. Rooms were big and nice. Toilet had a faulty fill valve, it was so annoying to hear water constantly running.

I seldom write review during our hotel stay but this one is definitely worth it. We really enjoyed our stay we will book again soon. My kids love the hotel room. Thanks to your wonderful team. We will see you again soon.

Cecilia, Chuong and Annie gave some of the best customer service I've had the pleasure of experiencing they answered all of my questions and were extremely friendly plus I'm new to the area so they were patient with all of my question when they answered them I 10 out of 10 would stay here again!

The staff were very helpful. Plenty of amenities to choose from. I wish they served breakfast in the room. The jacuzzi temperature was fantastic. Plenty of towels waiting to be used. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the whole place. I'll be back.

Absolutely amazing staff, Chuong, Cecilia, Annie and Ana are fantastic. They took care of me as soon as I stepped inside and definitely made my stay in Cali way better. I always stay in this hotel when I'm in SD. Love the staff always friendly. The rooms I always get are perfect....but this time around I believe I got the party floor it was crazy at night. Kids running down the hall late at night other kids crying all night weed smell coming from other room. Music playing late at night people screaming in the hallway drunk it was a crazy weekend.

Moving to San Diego from Colorado and needed a place to stay for a couple days while our place was becoming available. This is one of the best hotels I've stayed at in a long time. The staff was awesome. The hotel and rooms were exceptionally clean. Great location. Highly recommend

Our stay was comfortable. Friendly staff and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The hotel was very close to Coronodo island and downtown San Diego. Very little driving to get to where you needed to go.

the staff were super helpful, especially Chuong & Annie, who went out of their way to help our group weather the storm with conference room options & additional nights stay. the lobby's great fireplace & coffee/hot chocolate machine was a cozy gathering place too

Had my daughter book this trip because she has more travel experience than I do. She based her choice of hotels on the comments section of various motel/hotels in the area - this Best Western had the best value to positive/negative review ratio and it proved to be a great choice.

Amazing stay!! Perfect area to travel around. Plus, restaurants next to the hotel with live bands (must watch). I also loved the fact that I can leave and come back to a made bed with new linens to sleep on. And lastly, Ms. Annie Chuong was a great help to making sure I was comfortable with my stay.

My organization had a retreat in San Diego that was flipped on its head when the winter storms forced us to rapidly change plans. The sales director Denise was friendly and supportive in getting us accommodated with a hotel conference room as our original meeting venue was flooded. Annie and Chuong at the front desk were incredibly helpful in answering endless questions and requests to ensure our group was safe. We managed to have a successful retreat thanks to the staff. A pleasure to visit this hotel. The staff is very friendly and Chuong is awesome to chat with. A very bright and bubbly personality has always made for a welcoming experience at the front desk. Thr restaurant in the parking lot gives a discount for hotel guests and there are a multitude of other food options available within a few minutes walk.

Great front desk service. Was able to get a little early check in. Thanks Chuong and Missael. Room was very clean and comfortable for the family. Our house was getting fumigated and needed a hotel for 2 nights. Worked out perfect being down the road from our house.

Was nervous to try this place but so happy we did--it was well-located in close proximity to downtown San Diego, parking was free, the rooms were clean & quiet & comfortable. So many front desk folks were eager to help us: Cecilia, Annie, Alma, Chung & Carol. (hope I got their names right). They were all so accommodating & helpful. Nice to have a fridge & microwave. Water pressure was great & the water hot. Would definitely stay there again if in the area!

No free breakfast. They offer a 15% discount and Kimball's, a restaurant next door. It doesn't open until 7 am for breakfast and the wait time for food is long. They have loud live music in Friday and Saturday with most of the hotel parking lot taken up by the bar customers. The hotel is clean and well staffed with great people, but the lack of free breakfast is a down-check for me and I will not use this hotel again on my next trip to San Diego.

The staff was excellent, Cecilia and Annie couldn't be nicer! I think that the pool area and the gym should be open longer then 10:00pm though. The location is really good for going anywhere. Access in and out is really convenient!

After a very hectic morning trying to figure out a situation at another hotel Cecilia Annie helped me with an early check in so I could go to work on time. I was greeted with a smile and a thank you for being one of their rewards members. Cecilia checked me in very quickly and even got me a room on the first floor. The rooms are comfy and large. This hotel is always our family's home whenever we visit San Diego. It is exceptionally clean and convenient to restaurants. Most importantly, the hospitable members of staff, Manny, Alquin, Cecilia, Annie, and Chuong make our stay very comfortable.

Still enjoying my stay, Celilia, Chuong, and Martha are the best! Excellent service. The moment you pull up and walk into the hotel you can tell you're walking into a clean elegant hotel. Only thing that would make this stay 10/10 would be complimentary breakfast.

The manager at the front desk would not look up my reservation and told me there was no early check-in available and to wait. This was odd since most BW front desk staff will at least check to see if there is a reservation in the system. It was a Tuesday at the end of August (not peak season), and the hotel was not sold out the night before; therefore, rooms were ready to check guests in if they wanted to. I said I was a Diamond member, but she refused to look up my reservation and told me to wait for check-in. I understand that early check-in or upgrades are not guaranteed, so I patiently and quietly waited in the lobby. Twenty minutes later, a White man walked to the front desk and was checked in immediately. she knew I was in the hotel lobby waiting to be checked in. Yet, it did not stop her from granting early check-in to a White man while making a person of color and a Diamond Select Member (the most elite level of the BW Rewards Program) wait to be checked in. It is essential to note nobody manipulated the manager to perform this action; the manager rationally solved this problem on her own: to serve the White man with no questions and a smile while making the person of color and Diamond Select Member wait and feel unwelcomed at the hotel. I will not come back to this hotel.

AWESOME SERVICE, by Cecilia. I really needed an early check-in and she came through like a champ !, I've been coming here for 4 years now, every since Covid.. and they have always made me feel like I'm at home, especially CECILIA at the front desk.. She's a keeper!!

Ones first exposure to a hotel is the staff. The Marina Gateway staff did not disappoint. I significantly overestimated the traffic I would encounter on my drive from Montana to San DIego. That made the drive nicer than expected but set up would could have been an unpleasant arrival in San Diego. After an arduous extended drive, I arrived at the Best Western Marina Gateway hotel very early on a Sunday, many hours before check-in time. The hotel was fully booked so they night watch could not assign a room to me. However, the oncoming managers Cecilia and Chuong prioritized the cleaning of a room to accomodate my reservation and I was in my room before noon. That is top-shelf service. Thank you Cecilia and Chuong. My rating woud have been excellent had the vending and ice machines worked and I was not so tired. Had I not had such a pleasant encounter with the staff when I arrived, my stay woud have started off on unpleasant terms. I room is nice and I am certain the rest of my stay will be enjoyable. I did not want to wait until after my stay to express my gratitude for the staff.

It's like being under a train track 24/7 The noise is unbearable and nothing is close (Restaurant or stores) The room had water damage under the door you hear everyone else in the halls door slam yet the trains and noise go 24/7 DO NOT STAY HERE

This was second stay at this hotel. We opted for this hotel again on our trip to San Diego because it is pet friendly with clean rooms, well kept grounds, nice pool and professional staff. We were especially impressed with Cecilia at the front desk because she helped us redo our reservation that was booked wrong. In the process, she also explained the perks of their rewards program, answered any questions we had and found us great rates for the rebooking! Cecilia, and other staff were very professional and helpful. Definitely recommend!

As someone that doesn't spend a lot of time in hotels, I felt extremely accommodated and welcomed by all of the staff, but especially Chuong. I'm sure I was a handful, but she was very professional and prompt with any requests that I brought to her attention.

Cecilia did a Excellent Job at the Front Desk and Answered all my Questions. The Hotel Staff is very Helpful and The Hotel Rooms and Property is always Clean. The Pool is very Clean and there is a Nice Restaurant Near by who offers Great Meals and Entertainment on the Weekends.

There are Angels among us! I came to visit my son, Kevin, his wife, “Marnie” and new grandson, Kian, for the first time. I was booked for two nights and decided to extend my stay two more nights. The problem was my debit card had to be shut down because it was hacked and all I had was cash. My son had paid for the first two nights and was very low on money. The policy of Best Western is cash can only be used at check out, not to pay in advance. We were in a pickle! My son was frustrated. Daniel, the manager, was patient and kind and found a way for it to get done. Big chains seldom improvise but he did. Cecelia and Annie at the desk were equally helpful and polite in getting me re-booked for two more nights! What they didn't know was….I am recovering from a 14 month bout with Covid-19 dating back from August of 2021 to October of 2022. 300 days on a ventilator and revived 12 times, given up for dead. I lost everything but the love of family, friends and….Angels like Daniel, Cecelia and Annie! Thank you, Mark Hallimen

I love this hotel. The staff is always courteous and professional. The guest service agents are all wonderful but I must commend Ms. Cecilia the most. She took care of me from the moment I stepped through the door until check-out. She is amazing! The place was very clean, spacious and beautiful. The check in was very fast. Everyone was very friendly. The manager Cecilia treated us very well and was very friendly. We were in the suite and it had all the comforts, we all slept comfortably

They have the best staff. I was traveling for work so my lodging was booked through the company. Apparently they didn't have the correct card on file and so my room was cancelled but the card could not be charged. This was an extremely busy weekend since it was the Comic-Con Convention and it was hard enough finding a room. Luckily I the best encounter with Choung and Alquin who worked together to get me a room. They were extremely professional and kind and were able to get me a room next to my colleague. They completely turned my day around and made my stay such a great experience. I am truly grateful for their professionalism and hospitality.

Upon entering to this hotel, you can see that the hotel was immaculately clean, hotel staff was very friendly and efficient specially Ms. Cecilia who helped us checked in early. They had 24 hours coffee station, business center and a gym. The hotel also have a swimming pool and spa, a restaurant next door named Kimbal's Coastal Eatery and more restaurants within walking distance to this hotel. We will highly recommend this hotel to our friends and family

One of the best places I've stayed at. Service was amazing and was comfortable the entire time. Cecilia was very helpful and was very lovely to talk to. She also knew a lot about the area so if I ever needed anything I could just ask her for it. The restaurant in front of the hotel also had amazing food!

Close to many forms for transportation, near the trolley and bus station easy to get around. Located near many places to eat. Cecilia was great in the AM. Very friendly and helpful. Hotel itself was very clean accommodating. Will bring friends back.

My house flooded and had to be relocated for a month. During this horrible time my family and I stayed at the best western marina. From the moment we walked in we were treated amazing. Cecelia and Mariah at the front desk have amazing customer service! I did not know how long we needed to stay they extended us with no problem. The hotel is very clean which made it feel a little more like home.

Had high hopes for this hotel after reading all the wonderful reviews. Nice place in general if you don't plan on needing to go to sleep before 10:00 pm after a long day of travel. Walls are very thin so you can hear the live entertainment in your room. Strangest thing to have hotel with live music right outside hotel window. If you mention this problem to staff, they could care less if you need sleep. Odd, this hotel doesn't have any type of breakfast. Guess they want you to spend your money at the aforementioned restaurant next door. Too bad, I would have returned here if it were not for noise. Plumbing could use a little work as well, sink doesn't drain very well so water backs up.

The front desk stuff are very helpful, Cecilia & Chuong, excellent customer service. I'm very concern on the cleanliness of the room and we got that. Kudos for the housekeeping, great job! No breakfast serve???

The hotel had nice rooms and it location is great being close to the beach and everything else. Friendly staff the desk ladies Cecilia and Chuong were a huge help. The hotel has a gym and laundry as (useful since I'm jere business). Only thing I haven't seen yet is a BBQ but it's doesn't ruin the experience for me.

The Best Western team at the Marina Gateway location is the BEST!! Cecilia is top-notch!! She is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and super friendly. I always look forward to seeing her smiling face at the front desk. The management team is also amazing and they always exceed our expectations, specifically Alquin and the GM Manuel. We frequently travel around the country for work... and this team is by far the best we've experienced! Thanks again to Cecilia for being so accommodating during our hectic business trip.

This hotel is overall clean and the staff is very professional and helpful but I have stayed at this hotel about 7 times and the last stay the cleanliness was off this time. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and this one is by far the overall nicest hotel. I plan on staying more as for the price it's a little high but everything in California is high.

I checked in with my family and friend late December 2022. The crew, especially Ana and Cecilia in the front desk were very nice and helpful. Cecilia was also kind enough to give us a balcony view. The place was newly renovated and quiet. The room was clean. Lots of parking space. There are restaurants near the area.

Clean and homey-Christmas decorations were still up! It was the perfect place to stay after returning from overseas. The customer service was outstanding. Cecilia, Chuong and Alma were extremely professional, courteous. I extended my stay.

After our flights being cancelled multiple times and running low on sleep at TJ Airport, Ana and Annie from Best Western Plus were our lifesavers. They accommodated our check in request at 9:30 am instead of 3pm! Our suite became available ASAP and we got to sleep! Customer service was excellent, I highly recommend this hotel! Very clean, great atmosphere and their prices are reasonable!!!

It was a pleasant and thank for Cecilia and Alquin for the assistance. I love the jacuzzi too and the unlimited coffee at the lobby it was great for this winter season. Decent place to relax and probably will be back if I will be in town. Merry Christmas!

Awesome experience staying at the Best Western Plus Marina Gateway Hotel. Hotel was very clean . Room was also very clean and beds were comfortable. Staff was very professional and very friendly and accommodating notably Cecilia and Alquin. I would definitely come back and stay again here at the hotel given another chance to visit San Diego.

Cecilia and Susan were the two most kind, welcoming ladies. I booked a stay for two nights and needed to extend my stay for another day and Cecilia helped me out with that along with a great conversation between the two of them! I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Cecilia was great. I called around 1130am to see if we could check in early, I thought it was a long shot but Cecilia told us to come on over because she had a room ready for us. She was so funny and friendly. I also loved how centrally located this hotel was, it's right near the highway (no highway noise though), so it's easy to get around. Next time I'm in San Diego, this place will be on my list of places to stay for sure. Thank you Cecilia for making our short stay, a nice one.

We loved staying here. It's literally the best hotel we have ever been to. We stayed for a whole week and everything was perfect. It's very clean, it always smells good, it's very well maintained. It's also very comfortable. The staff is also very pleasant, out-going and lovely to talk to. We absolutely love this place. Cecilia and Annie checked us in. We didn't know we were going to stay as long as we did but we had to get things done in the area and we had to keep extending the stay and both of them helped us do that with excellent customer service. This truly is an honest review, I loved this place and I sort of wish one of the rooms was for sale because I would live here if I could.

This Hotel was wonderful!! Cecilia's customer service was exceptional! Alma assisted with early check-in. I was new to the city and they made it even more pleasurable and stress free. Both Annie and Cecilia were very helpful and attentive during our check-in. They were able to accommodate our request to have an early check in which was amazing after a 5 hour drive down to San Diego. Would definitely recommend this place for its staff only.

Very welcoming from our checkin with Mariah. Room was clean n spacious. Thanksgiving day my boys enjoyed the pool. Cecilia & Annie provided info on breakfast option as well as bailed us out, forgot razor n without hesitation offered a few razors and shaving cream at no cost. Customer service top notch.

This hotel was wonderful. The desk personnel, Cecilia, Susan and Alquin were helpful and friendly. The decor for my room and for the whole hotel was newly upgraded. Everything was clean and beautiful including the towels, sheets and bedspread. I highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.

After 24 hour of travel I was exhausted and hoping to check into my room a little early. Alma cleaned a room quickly and Cecilia and Annie did not charge me extra for the early check in. They also gave me a couple bottles of water and some snacks. Not only was the staff extremely accommodating and kind, the hotel interior appears to have been newly renovated. It was also very convenient - 15 min from downtown. I will stay here again on my next business trip to San Diego.

Best Western Plus Marina Gateway has become my hotel of choice when I'm in the San Diego area – I'm here a lot and have stayed many places but this hotel has my recommendation. Conveniently located near the 5 yet it doesn't feel like you are near a major highway. It's reasonably located to downtown, trolley stops, south San Diego beaches, military bases and the border crossing. Walking trails, a marina park, and bay boat ramp. A restaurant, across parking lot, serves a good breakfast/lunch/dinner with a nice family atmosphere, a bar, live weekend entertainment and plenty of screens to watch games. The hotel is quiet/comfortable; has a reasonably equipped workout facility, a lovely outdoor pool and always free morning coffee/tea in the lobby. The best thing though is the people that work there – they always seem very happy, proud of their hotel and the service/hospitality they provide – you always feel welcome! Cecilia Chuong greets you at check-in with a friendly smile, even calling your room after to make sure things are perfect. Daniel is there generally in the early morning, answering any questions and making sure that coffee is ready and waiting for you. Denise Halliwell, Director of Sales, is wonderful and can help you with group/military reservations. I've been staying at Marina Gateway best Western plus Hotel on and off since 2016. This is one of the cleanest hotels I stayed at. This year I'll probably have over 160 days traveling so far. This is still my favorite. The staff always seems to go out of the way to assist me. I think I stayed at just about every room on the fourth floor. And there is one particular room I do like and the staff always tries to get me in there if it's becomes available. Special thanks to Cecilia , Ana and Annie for making my stay here at the Best Western Marina Gateway most enjoyable. All the staff is going out of the way to make my stay as is pleasant as possible. Everyone that I know that travels to this area for work I always recommend staying here. The hotel is just gone through a complete makeover this last summer and it's beautiful thank you staff of the Marina Gateway best Western plus for making my stay enjoyable.

I seldom write reviews about anything as it takes away from my time. this, however, is an exception because the people at this Best Western Hotel deserve to be recognized for their genuine hospitality. You will not find a friendlier and more "people-skill" person than the manager there Mr. Alquin Orlino who took the time to chat and made sure that my stay was comfortable. Maria who worked the night I was there made sure that I was well accommodated. She even offered snacks and bottled water. I will never forget the smiling faces of the morning staff Miss Cecilia and Miss Susan who were just as nice and accommodating. Overall top to bottom GREAT PEOPLE!! The cleanliness, modern style room with tons of gadget plug-ins and uniformity of the lighting fixtures came (just) as an added bonus. This is coming from a guy who travels a lot.

I had a great check in experience with Cecilia Alfredo. The room was nicer than I expected and the amenities were also good. I was especially grateful for the microwave because I tend to have leftovers and the fridge and microwave combo are a huge deal to me!!

Our organization has been renting out their conference room since August and we have had such an amazing experience thus far! The hotel is great and in such a prime location. The conference room we rent is very well kept and spacious and definitely meets all of our needs. The staff is exceptional and sees to it that we are well taken care of, especially Ms. Cecilia. She has been very kind and accommodating to us. We are grateful for the entire staff and the service we are receiving. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great hotel with great costumer service!

We are an organization that rents out their conference rooms every week. All of the employees especially the front desk staff are so kind and helpful and accommodating. There are several people that stand out like Cecilia. And definitely all of the front desk people are also agree and easy to work with. All the staff are very kind they are very clean and the conference hall that we rent out is always so nice. We have also stayed in the rooms here, and they are beautiful. What's great about this place is it's in a prime location and the prices are very well set. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling with families or for business. My husband and I were in town for a business event and decided to take a couple of extra days. Cecilia and Annie with Best Western were able to get us an early check in since we had to switch hotels. Celina, Susan, and Chuong at the front desk were amazing and super helpful with any questions that I had. I forgot to pack a toothbrush and toothpaste and they didn't hesitate to give me some when I asked.

Great staff, clean rooms, the only drawback is that there isn't much around. One overpriced restaurant in the parking lot and nothing else very close. Super close to the 5 though and very easy to get anywhere by car. The air conditioner was insanely loud though.

Cecilia Alfredo was very welcoming upon our arrival AND VERY VERY FRIENDLY. We were given a small gift which was simply water and Lays BBQ chips but I was grateful for it as I was thirsty and needed just that. I've been to other hotels where staff are polite but I've never felt as comfortable as Cecilia made my girlfriend and I. It truly felt like they wanted us here. Plus, SHE GAVE US AN UPGRADE! Overall our stay was great. Definitely recommend it and I'd definitely come back again if I stay in the area.

The location is great (right off of the 5 freeway). The restaurant next to the hotel was very convenient and they offer a 15% discount for hotel guests (just show your key card). The hotel was very clean. The employees were very courteous. We will definitely stay here again. It will be my go to hotel when I visit family in the area!

I was greeted by Annie, Choung & Anna - These ladies' were so upbeat and positive. I arrived an hour before my reservation and they found a way to get me checked in and to my room without waiting. I loved the energy from these ladies and they were true professional's IMO.

The staff were very friendly and had great customer service for the entire stay. The rooms were very clean, large, and updated with all the amenities. The pool and hot tub were fantastic and lots of fun. The free coffee station in the morning was a big plus and very convenient. Having the hotel pair up with the restaurant across the parking lot with a 15% off your entire bill if you show a hotel key card was a great addition and made us want to go back multiple times.

Where do I even begin. This Best Western was an amazing stay for my family. It's By far one of the cleanest and most welcoming hotels I've ever step foot in. Upon arrival you are greeted by the amazing front desk staff that make sure you are taken care of in ever way. The room was perfectly spacious, quiet and had everything you need. My stay got booked the way I want it. They actually pay attention on guest request. My family really enjoyed it and the water pressure on shower is good unlike other hotels. My checkout was really pleasant with Cecilia. Staff like her will make your guest come back.

We had called to check in early because my wife wanted to go get her nails done and I wished to stay at the hotel instead. Ms. Chuong at the front desk was exceptionally accommodating and so polite over the phone. Upon check in, Ms. Chuong and Ms. Cecilia greeted me at the front desk, checked me in with no delay, and even gave me a choice of what floor I would like to stay. There were a few toiletry items I was not able to take on the flight and the ladies at the front desk were excellent at getting me what I needed at no extra cost. Once I got to my room I noticed it was extraordinarily updated, and cleaned from top to bottom by Ms. Anna. Do not get me started on how comfortable the beds are and how quiet the hotel is. I could sleep till noon if I am not careful. Overall very satisfied!

Since the location was close to the event I was attending, took the chance booking basic on reviews. From the time calling to verify pet policy, to actual on-site check-in, the staff (check-in, cleaning and walking past other working staff) was helpful, friendly and professional. They accommodated my dog as well as provided nice welcome treats since we waiting (not long) for our room. The location is freeway close, nice walking area for exploring (nature reserve and trolly/railcar history), great restaurant (Kimball) right next door, and quick drive to other food and shopping center. Clean room and comfy bed. My dog also approved!

Had to book a few days at this location because another hotel wasn't available for my full trip but was so pleased with this location and staff (Cecilia was always so helpful!) that I cancelled the other reservation and stayed here. The room is very clean and service exceptional.

This Best Western is above all other locations I've stayed at; I can see why they add "Plus" to the Best Western brand. The difference is palpable from when you walk into the lobby and check-in; the front-line staff is super attentive and courteous, especially Cecilia and Annie. They make you feel right at home in a very genuine manner. To top things off, the rooms are impeccable for a very reasonable price. This will be my National City home while on business or personal travel going forward.

Our son and family moved to San Diego several years ago. We Tried many many different hotels. The marina gateway hotel was the best one we found and we stay here all the time now. Great location. 15 to 20 minute drive to everything.. A very nice, modern clean hotel. Cecilia at the front desk took really really good care of us.

We decided to take a trip at this lovely hotel because this current heat wave was terrible and we have a little girl who is currently going through chemo therapy and during this heat wave it was TOO hot at home, but Cecilia and Chong made our trip more better and fun for this weekend. They made everything more accessible.

Hotel staff was very friendly upon check-in. The hotel rooms were clean and very comfortable. We had an issue with the room's smoke detector that was addressed immediately once it was reported to front desk. Ms. Cecilia Chuong was very helpful and attentive upon our second stay here.

Hidden gem of a hotel in National City. Clean, well kept, comfortable and decent. My son enjoyed the pool and mini golf. Parking is free and parking lot is well lit and safe. Gym, pool, and hot tub were amazing to relax and unwind after a days work on NBSD. Great location to minimize morning traffic to 32nd St Naval Base, and another 5 minutes up Harbor drive to Downtown San Diego Gaslamp District.

Cecilia Annie ( Ana ) was and is hands down AMAZING along with friendly staff and service. I had flown in from Vegas due to a long 9 hour overlay and a 45 min flight back to SD. I asked to check in early and she was attentive and accommodated in every way to make sure I was taken care of immediately. The hotel itself is brand new. The eatery of Kimbal restaurant is in walking distance. The view of the marsh lands and palm trees are divine. You could easily access all amenities. The gym is clean and accessible. The front desk staff is beyond friendly and detailed oriented in making sure guests are welcomed and taken care of. People who came in and out of the place have a vibe of feeling comfortable as to where they are staying. You can just feel the energy of this place. Cleanliness is beyond and you could always call the front desk 24/7 if need be for anything you need to make your stay comfortable. In and out burger is literally in walking distance on the other side of the highway. Which is a must when in San Diego. It's just an amazing quaint place to feel safe and secure with your loved ones, friends, family to enjoy if you want to stay at a place where it's not congested by still accessible to all that you want to see in San Diego. I highly recommend this place hands down. 100 percent.

Entry to the lobby was great and the aroma was fantastic!! The front desk morning staff (Cecilia and Annie) were really friendly and helpful! They were able to check us in quickly so we could head to the pool! The hotel was very fresh and clean! House keeping was always visibly seen cleaning which is a huge plus with Covid-19 still among us!!!

Haven't met much of the staff, but from what I've seen they are extremely friendly and ready to help out at any time. I mostly stay inside or go to the pool, to which I have to admit, is extremely satisfying (especially since it's hot out, but you'd have to put on more sunscreen).

Amazing stay, my boyfriend and i flew in super earlier and they did everything they could to get our room ready for us so we could get some rest after traveling for the whole night! Cecilia, Annie and Ana were absolutely wonderful i will definitely stay here again! Amazing place with amazing staff

Cecilia and her managers were very friendly. Also the supervisor work the night before there shift was very helpful. The pool and jacuzzi were also very comfortable, The whole hotel looks very clean and new, like jus remodeled. very comfortable to stay.

Enjoyable stay at this quiet and clean hotel. While in or around more industrial area...it was easy to get to, had a great view of the bay and various types of ships - cargo, military or otherwise. Place was very quiet...in the week we were there, maybe heard other guests or AM housekeeping once or twice and we are late risers. Only complaint we had was that we were expecting a breakfast buffet and all they had was a coffee bar. We had to head to Walmart for AM fruit/yogurt or cereal. They offer a breakfast discount next door but we are not AM restaurant people.

We had a wonderful stay at Best Western Plus Marina . Ms Cecilia from the front desk is very helpful during our stay. On our 3rd day our ac was creating a noise, Ms Cecilia immediately transfered us to another room with mountain view and partial marina view. The hotel is clean, the room is spacious. Anna from housekeeping and Eddie did a wonderful job in helping us moved to another room. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends. Stayed from July 27-August 2, 2022.

I was greeted in a very welcoming tone by Cecillia and Amanda. It's amazing how they remembered me because I come here once a year. Everything is super clean and it's kind of a newer hotel. I love the location close to the Marina and close to the freeway access. I love this hotel and Cecillia and Amanda are the best employees.

Mugging in hallways. Arrived to room in the evening very tired and Air Conditioning would not go below 75 degrees. Too late in the evening to change rooms as the hotel was full. Room was nice and clean, a wide variety of channels to choose from on the TV. Overall an average stay.

Cecilia was really helpful at the front desk. Me and my wife landed early in San Diego but Cecilia helped us so much with a nice room and good service.Very professional and kind. Hope to see you next time we come back.

The Best Western Plus in National City is one of the three best hotels that I, in my 60 years, have ever stayed in. One of the best hotel values, especially for the price. Sumptuously and comfortably designed and appointed, and so very clean. Best mattress I have slept on in a very long time, which is saying something, because I have to use a Sleep Number bed at home.

I would rate this hotel as exceptional. I travel over 120 days a year. As for a best Western this is happens to be one of the best best westerns I've ever stayed at. The staff has always been exceptional. Cecilia and Annie along with Denise have always gone out of the way to assist me and to make my stay the most pleasant. Thus far this year I've stayed at this hotel almost 90 nights. They just went through a complete renovation makeover and it's very beautiful. I'm a diamond member and I stay at quite a few best westerns. This one takes the cake. I would highly recommend this one.

Hotel lobby and grounds are well-maintained. Room with 2 queen beds was spacious with a nice balcony. Fridge and microwave in the room are very convenient. Hotel is located several miles south of downtown. As long as you have a car or can afford ride-sharing, it's a quick drive to the places most people want to visit. The name “marina” is a bit misleading because the hotel is not located anywhere near water.

Great location if you will be heading into Mexico. Only 10-20 minutes to all the tourist attractions in San Diego as well. Manny and Cecilia were very friendly and helpful with making reservations, adding my Rewards number to my reservation and storing my luggage. I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last four years and I will be back for a fifth year!

This Best Western is the most modern and cleanest Best Western hotel that I have stayed. The hotel is right off of Interstate 5 and close to restaurants, a bay view and shopping.

During my recent stay I was pleased with the atmosphere of the hotel. Unfortunately, I was plagued with bad plumbing in my room which didn't get resolved the first time I informed the hotel. You can access the freeway easily, but the hotel still seems far from most attractions/beaches.

Needless to go on about what my expectations are in staffing! you can always visit a nice property, but if company staffing is untrained in personalized approach you have an average accommodation. When in the area of San Diego I will not book any other property.

Our son is taking a class at a nearby facility and he also reserved the room for us. Because he wouldn't be there for check in we asked if I could be his accompanying party and they said yes. We also requested an early check in since we had driven from so far away and we're quite tired. Cecilia, at the front desk, quickly worked her magic with Annie and Ana of housekeeping service and happily asked us to return by 11 am as our room would be available for use. We were overjoyed at this news and very grateful for their generosity and hospitality to our family. They made us feel like home almost immediately. Room was nice and clean. Rates were very competitive. Location was convenient; right next to the interstate and 10-15 minutes to downtown even with traffic. Service was outstanding. I forgot my razor and called the front desk to ask if they had any for sale. Four disposable razors and sachets of shaving cream were delivered to my room in minutes. This is our second visit to this location. It is located for easy on and off of I-5 and close to many attractions. The rooms a very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. Pillows are not to my liking and the internet is spotty, otherwise great place.

Stayed here for a Business Travel Rented a Room for a Job Hiring Event for Peter Pan Seafood. Front desk people is so nice and very helpful with everything that I needed. came in and checked the rooms and surprised it was all set up. the room that I stayed was also Comfy and clean. Alquin was the one that helped me when I came in at night. then the next day Cecilia was the one that helped me in the morning till afternoon. if I can give more than 5 stars I would they made my stay the best. it was definitely a Great Choice.

I've been to different Best Western hotels in the past but this one stands out. Very clean hotel with friendly staff. The lobby is not too big but looks elegant. It feels like you're in a big 5-star hotel. I like our presidential room. It is a good size for the price we paid. We will definitely consider coming back for future San Diego visits.

National City isn't the greatest place to visit but this hotel was! We were greeted by Cecilla, who was lovely to deal with. The hotel was super clean and comfortable and they ensured we were settling into our room okay. The pool and hot tub were great. Only downfall was there was no continental breakfast and only hot coffee served, which I unfortunately don't drink. There was a restaurant across the parking lot that served a delicious breakfast. They also play live music at night too!

I've been living at this Hotel coming up on a year now. The staff is so amazing!!! I'm so appreciative of the efforts the team has put in to make me feel at home and like family. Cecilia always goes the extra mile and keeps me updated on the status of my room, when the staff is in out of my room, just everything I need to know. Annie is another amazing individual who bends over backwards to make sure I have everything I need. There are too many to name but so many others that contribute to my extended visit.

Great hotel, staff, and managed facility. I've stayed numerous times and it has always been a great experience. Cecilia is always willing to make your stay memorable. Staff is friendly and always there to help. Room 418 is just one of many great rooms on the property.

If I could rate a lower number then I would. If you make a reservation with these people and your stay is interrupted by a fire in the hotel, they will not refund your stay even though you stayed there only a few hours. Willingness to work out a solution is just insulting to say the least. Also don't mind the ridiculous loud music coming from the restaurant across the parking lot. No one wants to get any rest when staying at hotel.

This is such a beautiful hotel/pool area that overlooks the wildlife refuge. It has a nice walkway and places to sit and watch the birds. The only negative I'd say was the amount of trash & beer bottles around the path and in the refuge that was disappointing. Perhaps girl/Boy Scouts could do a one day clean up monthly.

The hotel is excellent very clean, we was greeted by the desk staff we was 3 hours before check in and Cecilia Annie Ana was so accommodating let us in our room. Also we are here for a biking trip and was able to bring our bikes into the room for safety. I would highly recommend this hotel

The location was great, very close to downtown, the freeway, the water and food. The rooms were a little dated but nice. The grounds had trash pretty much everywhere, but the Birds and Cats helped with that cause the outside garbage cans were rarely emptied. Overall good location and very friendly/helpful Staff.

My husband and I stayed here for 11 nights and were truly impressed with all aspects of the Marina Gateway. From the initial booking , Cecilia and Nancy really took care of us and ensured we were taken care of throughout our stay. The hotel is very clean, service is friendly and accommodating, and even dog friendly. Beds are comfortable, room was updated, the one bedroom suite allowed us plenty of space to spread out and helped us to not go stir crazy! Cecilia and Ana went above and beyond on our visit to ensure we were well taken care of. They had our room prepared early after some circumstances messed with our expected schedule, and we're very hospitable hostesses.

The hotel itself and our room is clean. Best hotel I've booked so far. Front desk staff are very nice especially Cecilia and Annie. The place is also pretty close to where we want to go. Having a good restaurant next to it is also a plus, we didn't have to drive far for breakfast and dinner.

We got into the hotel at 10:30 pm on the 24th after a two day road trip and were pleasantly surprised by the attentive hotel staff. It's hard to be grumpy in San Diego but the staff of Cecilia, Alma, Alquin (Not sure if it's spelled correctly but he's the Manager), Antonio ( maintenance), Daniel, and Annie, among others made the two night stay great. Everyone treated us wonderful and helped with every request. Cheers to the entire staff, GM (I didn't get his name), and the owner who was on site our last day. The hotel was in a perfect location for our needs. I will definitely check this hotel out on my return trips to San Diego. Five stars!

This is a great place to stay for business travel. Clean and well-maintained, friendly staff, easy access to I-5, downtown, military bases, and beaches. There is a restaurant with a bar adjacent to the hotel, which is very convenient after a busy day.

As a travel nurse, it's difficult to find pleasant lodging that is not only quiet (I work 16 hour night shifts) but accessible and convenient to my work locations. Everything I needed was provided by the amazing staff at Best Western Plus Marina Gateway Hotel. From front desk staff to housekeeping and maintenance, I couldn't have asked for better, more accommodating service. During my stay, I unfortunately contracted Covid and the hotel staff checked on me and made sure I was alright even to the point of offering to walk my dog and find the medications I needed. I have been here since September of 2021 (it's now 23 January) and have absolutely no complaints or concerns with my stay and should j be fortunate enough to return to the location where I have worked since July, this would be my first choice of lodging, hands down. Thank you especially to Cecelia, Ana, and Edi for taking such great care of not only me, but everyone else who stays at Best Western Plus Marina Gateway Hotel!

We have stayed at this best western six different times when we visit family near by The rooms are modern and the accommodation are great. Pool, Gym, mini golf. Food services are across the parking lot and down the street. A nice park is near by. The front desk staff is amazing. I'll be going back the next time I visit the area.

The hotel is in great shape and in a good location. The staff - specifically Cecilia (front desk) and Alma (house cleaning manager) are SO accommodating and are a big part of what made my stay so wonderful. I arrived several hours before check-in and they went above and beyond to get my room ready for me to use so I could work from my laptop comfortably. It's been a long time since I've had staff go out of their way to improve my stay and I can say with certainty the next time I need to stay in the National City area this is where I'll be!

I received excellent service from Cecilia here, which is somewhat rare nowadays. I was 2 hours early before my check in, and got into my room without having to wait in the lobby for that time. Would definitely come again!

I needed a hotel in a pinch for a last minute visit to the Southbay area of San Diego. This hotel had fine reviews on TripAdvisor and I liked the waterfront location - I was a bit hesitant because National City isn't the nicest place; however, this hotel is in the nicest place of National City. You are just a few yards away from the marina and you are away from the busiest parts of National City. This location would also be ideal for visiting downtown San Diego as you are close to the trolley or if you had a car. I checked in on Christmas Eve and found a fully staffed front desk - expediting customers in a friendly and quick manner. Nothing to complain about and the employees were cheerful on this holiday weekend. When I checked out early in the morning, I was helped by the front desk agent Cecilia. She was personable, genuine, and brought a smile to my morning. She made me feel valued as a member of the Best Western Rewards program and thanked me for booking directly. She shared with me that she has worked there sometime and appreciated the family ownership. Thank you Cecilia for bringing a smile to my morning.

You are near a park if you have pets, there's an excellent restaurant next door which has an incredible menu and live music on Fridays and weekends as well as easy access to freeways. The room was missing the TV remote, part of the coffee maker, and shower curtain. There was long black hair in the bathtub and on the end table. The entire 4th floor smelled like marijuana and body odor. There isn't enough parking and you have a choice of hearing the freeway all night or using the rattling A/C to drown it out. This is not a good hotel.

Wonderful from the start. My daughter and I arrived at the hotel before check- in time and the staff (Cecilia, Annie, and Alma) worked their magic to get us into a room. Upon entering the hotel, the hotel was very clean and well kept. Cecilia was the staff member that helped us check into the hotel and she was very welcoming and helpful. Shady charges on pets. During check-in they charged me $30/day then on my last day I was called out by a staff telling me that I couldn't stay on the 3rd floor because they don't allow pets on that floor. I didn't even ask to have a room on the 3rd floor!!! The staff was telling me they were charging me $20/day for the pet. So what is really the deal? They just make up their fees? No transparency! The AC in the room was too loud and I didn't want to complain because I was trying to be polite but that one staff really got in my nerves!

I booked a room here to be close to a venue in town so I didn't really know what to expect but to my surprise, the staff here was pretty poor and a particular desk lady was extremely rude as she yelled at me for no reason in a parking lot situation. After getting back from a concert, being tired and all I parked slightly crooked but enough space for the car to the LEFT and right of me to have. She caught me grabbing something from the car later on and told me she had to move her car that I parked to crooked and continued to repeat herself angrily. Unbelievably unprofessional. There was no problem there at all. There was plenty of space for her small sedan and I didn't even block the driver's side as I parked to the right of her (and still in the lines mind you). Her response was uncalled for and she was complaining for no reason. It completely caught me off guard and ruined my night. No one wears masks but guests are required to wear them, bit confusing… I had to wait 20 min to check in after waiting an additional 10 from getting there early didn't think that'd be a big deal. I had to walk up and ask when our room would be ready otherwise we would have been waiting for God knows how long. Honestly if you're going to stay somewhere you're better off at an Airbnb or find a hotel with better service.

This is one of the better hotels in the chain. Location is great lots of shopping and food nearby. Easy freeway access. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had a balcony which we loved. Overall 5 stars. Shout out to Alfredo, Linda and Nathaniel for great customer service.

One of the best hotels I've ever had the pleasure to reside in! I lived here for 5 months and I was treated like family. This was important as I'm military and was separated from my own. If I ever had a problem, they would work quickly to resolve the situation. The rooms were nice as well and they accommodated my cat. I do miss being here as the customer service was impeccable and far exceeded other hotels I've stayed in. Ms. Cecilia and Mr. Nathan were my favorites! From warm greetings, to assistance, and everything in between I could count on them. I've stayed in 18 hotels over the span of a year and they're the best receptionists I've come across. I am an employee at Heart CPR, I regular teach CPR and First Aid at this location! The hotel meeting room has a good amount of space. Sometimes I have to clean up a little bit when I go in to do meetings but, overall I am happy with the venue. It's not super fancy but it is very functional. The staff are always willing and ready to help! I'd give a 5 star rating to the employees at the front desk. Although I often have to adjust things when I come in the room, the staff reacts quickly and helps me to get set up. Cecilia and Annie are always ready to help me when needed and very time conscious.

We appreciate the consistency of Best Western Hotels. This hotel was spotless, the rooms very nicely furnished, with a refrigerator in the room. Good internet. We didn't use any of the hotel amenities but the pool was nice and the fitness center. We had our two dogs with us and we appreciate finding high quality lodging that allows pets. Best Western is our go to for service, access to freeways (yet without the noise), great rooms and amenities.

This hotel provides top-notch service for business meetings. We have been hosting Medicare Made Clear meetings here for the last two years, and I have to say that the customer service has gone over the top! Cecilia at the front desk had the room already prepared, provided ice water, let us put up banners. I cannot say enough good things about Cecilia. She is the bomb-dot-com!

Clean! Friendly! Friendly staff! (Cecelia and Reyna were fabulous!) Dog friendly. That's right even large dogs! No wonder this place has such a good rating. The gym is little gym but clean and ample and nice. I went the first night just to play on the way it's a little and the room is so incredibly hot. But the maintenance came immediately to turn the air conditioner down. The Internet is important to many people and you have to constantly search it out and make sure you're connected but it works. And finally, the down and dirty is the bed is lumpy but doable and my refrigerator made a strange whining sound all night long. But it's clean. Quiet. I'll add more photos as I go.

My mother was on the last leg of the 1st part of her cross-county driving adventure. Out from Illinois, en route to California before flying to Costa Rica, she needed her passport. San Diego was the only option, though LAX was 100 miles north. She plucked me from OC & off we drove to SD. “I didn't book a hotel,” she said. It was almost 5PM. I scrambled to find a decent place close to downtown that was affordable & clean - with on site parking. At this hour, it was a unicorn ask & I knew it. Trip Advisor steered me away from several at the the top of the list, sorted for price. But then Best Western Marina Gateway appeared. National City? Where is that? Must be a lousy neighborhood... It seemed too good to be true. The property looked fresh & clean. The price was right. Free parking was available. Plenty of restaurants in the recently re-developed area. COVID precautions were in place. And it was on the harbor, 7 miles from our ultimate DTSD destination. Surely there was a catch. I tried to book online, but the reservation could not be completed after several attempts. I knew it! I called directly, expecting to be disappointed. Quite the contrary. The gentleman who answered offered us the same double Queen room & honored the online price. Even better, he applied an AARP discount! When we arrived, there was no record of our reservation. Oh-oh... The concierge Nate was able to find us by a phone number (our name was misspelled). Another relief. He was very accommodating & had us relaxing in our clean, comfortable room in no time. He also recommended a nice place to eat on the marina which was perfect. We checked out early & headed to the passport agency. The bad news: Mom would have to retrieve her mew passport tomorrow! We'd have to stay another night... Day 2: I called the hotel & spoke with Annie about 10:30AM. “Not to worry,” she said. “We have a room, we'll honor the same price. And better yet, we have a room clean & ready for you now, so you can check in early.” Unbelievable! She & Cecelia took good care of us from start to finish. They made sure we were still signed up & receiving our BW reward points. They provided us with extra coffee & a small care pack of water & snacks. We were set. Off to our 4th floor room with a view of the harbor. It couldn't have been any smoother. Now let's hope the passport is ready & Mom can get to Costa Rica as easily...

We JUST checked in but if the check in and customer service is any indication. staying here was a good choice. We were exhausted after a hellish day of flights and the staff, specifically Cecilia, were so warm and welcoming when we arrived. Check in was quick and easy. Thank you to the staff!!

Rooms were very clean and updated. Kids really enjoyed the heated pool. There is plenty of parking, no need to worry about having to arrive early just to secure a decent parking space. Cecilia was very helpful during check out, making sure we got our points for our stay. The only cons were that there was no breakfast, the mini fridge wasn't working properly and one of the cleaning ladies was a bit rude. About 5 minutes after checking out and going back to the room for the rest of the family and a few bags, she storms in saying that we shouldn't be in there anymore, that the room is supposed to be vacant and they need to clean it. It was only 8 in the morning, the room is paid until 11 or 12. I understand we had already turned in our key, but that was just a little bit too much on her part. Maybe she was just having a bad day and took it out on us. But other than that we had a really good time, everyone else was very friendly and helpful. We will probably stay here for our next visit.

Fishing excursion with a friend. Enjoyed visiting in San Diego, California. We have cousins that showed us around. Would have liked to have taken the cruise around the bay, but it was lightning, thundering, and raining so we couldn't do that.

This was a hidden gem and I am glad I stumbled upon it. The moment I entered the doors Cecilia greeted me warmly and helped me checked in seamlessly. I arrived earlier than the expected check in time and most room were not ready yet but she was able to accommodate me and find me a room with a view and a king sized bed. Afterwards, she even game me a goodie bag with waters and snacks which came in handy since most of the waters were sold out in all the vending machines. She is super hospitable and friendly and put me at ease completely from the get go. None of that cold robotic greeting that other hotels have. When I arrived at the room, everything was neat and clean. My bf and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay because it was quiet and we were able to rest very comfortably. I will definitely be back due to the kind service and cleanliness of the hotel. Had a great stay.

To Best Western Plus Marina Hotel My boyfriend and I stayed night September 14th 2021... Nancy and Cecilia checked us in.. was a great experience... They were friendly.. The hotel was nice and clean and had curb appeal. Also Nancy and Cecilia personalities made the experience fun! The whole staff including housekeeping was helpful.. I had alot of experiences staying in many hotels. I give Nancy who assist us a 5 star.. she was so helpful, cheer full.. The BW phone rep recommended this BW Plus Marina Gateway hotel after the other BW hotel fell through. After my reservation was made, I called the Marina Gateway front desk to ask about accommodation requests for my family and Cecelia was very professional and informative. On the day of check-in, I called again and the front desk staff including Cecelia were patient and understanding. Once they knew our accommodation request, even their housekeeper manager Ana went above and beyond to help. The staff put us in a great, clean room in the perfect location that I didn't even think to ask about! During these times when a lot of places are hurting for more staff, its nice to see and be in such a friendly environment. Hospitality is not easy but the staff at this hotel are still awesome. I would like to thank the staff at BW Plus Marina Gateway for a great stay and friendly, helpful atmosphere for my family.

I don't know how new or remodeled this hotel is, but it was like a little hidden gem. The outside does not look like a Best Western and once inside, it is very welcoming. Very clean and everything functioned properly. Would stay here again. There is also a trolly station near and I imagine it could take you anywhere like the ball park.

I was traveling to San Diego for the weekend. I looked at several hotels in the area but most of them where to expensive. I found this hotel and it was a great decision. The front desk service was great. The hotel was clean and the location was spot on only 5 minutes from Petco Park. I highly recommend this hotel!

Nice Hotel and staffs. Close to Legoland, Seaport Village, Balboa Park and many more. Right off the Freeway. The hotel is clean and well maintained. All the amenities are open including the pool. Check in and check out is easy. Ate Cecilia, Nancy, and Ana salamat po for the nice stay.

I have been staying at this Best Western at least 1 night a month since July 2020. I'm responsible for my elderly parents care. Sometimes I just need peaceful environment for much needed Self-care. Cecilia, Anne, Ana and Nancy were so helpful.

By far my favorite hotel! The staff and hotel itself was amazing! Cecilia, Annie and Ana really went out of their way to give me the best customer service possible! And I'm very hard to please when it comes to hotels but this one was CLEAN! The only place I will stay in San Diego for now on!

Very nice hotel and even nicer when you walk in! Cecilia and Nancy attended us very well in the front desk and the magic that Ana can do for your room is amazing!! The view from our window gets the sunsets and it's always nice to have the window open and enjoy the sunset.

Bring your own pillows. Neighborhood a little sketchy. Trains starting early in the morning. Not much of a view when on the marina side. A little of a distance from San Diego and the marina, but easy to get to with a drive.

When I travel for business, which is often, i'm looking for a nice hotel at a fair price with a professional staff. This Hotel is a 100/100!! Classy, profesional Staff, Sharply dressed and ready to help in any way they can. The hotel is convenient to the San Diego Airport and the US/TJ border (I work in Mexico.) From the guest rooms to the Boadroom, I've used all of BWMGateway's services and they are all top-notch. I recommend this hotel for any family or business traveler. Manny and the staff are “hall of fame” in my book!

Quiet clean and safe without hustle and bustle of unruly guests so far. The most comfortable mattresses to sleep on but the pillows are not for me. East side of hotel second floor has a constant hum that audibly reeks of electromagnetic pollution ruining the tranquil hours of predawn. Otherwise I recommend it highly.

Enjoyed our stay! Nathan and Cecilia were amazing and thanks to Ana (housekeeping manager) we were able to check in early since our flight came in way before check in time. They were super personable and kind. Anything we needed was done and it is in a perfect location. We will definitely come back.

An emergency at our home required we stay immediately away so I called BWP and got the sweetest man to help us! SOMEBODY GIVE NATHAN A RAISE! Not only did his southern hospitality and skill put us at ease, he had us laughing and forgetting our emergency in no time! Also, the lovely Cecilia had us in a wonderful mood telling us about the coffee and other amenities AND called the room to make sure we were ok!! You hv no idea how their greeting in an emergency situation (rather than a fun vacation) meant to us because frazzled quickly turned into relief with these two marvelous people working for you! My family of 4 were not very pleased with this Best Western. Exterior of Hotel was impressive, Lobby was also impressive. Staff was ok they were friendly and cordial. Elevators had grafatti etchings on the panel where the floors are located. Then we on our floor, right of the back a very awkward, bad smell.. Then the room also had a cigarette smell, room was clean but smell was very bad!

We are thankful for the customer service provided by Cecilia, she was so nice and professional on the phone and in person, we really appreciated her getting us in early due to our travel plans changing.

My family went to San Diego on a short family trip for three days and 2 nights in July. We chose to stay at Best Western Plus Marina Gateway Hotel because of it's good review. The hotel pierce is a bit expensive compared to some other hotels in the nearby area, but it's still reasonable and worth the price. This hotel is not too far from downtown San Diego and many other attractions, all within in 20 -30 minutes drive. It's located in a quite industrial neighborhood, yet not too far from the freeway entrance, so it's very convenience to get on and off from the freeway. The exterior of the hotel building looks attractive, and the lobby area is always bright and clean. We love the pool area, and the fact that it's open so we get to enjoy it. We also like the fact that there are plenty of parking on site compared to some other hotels, so we don't need to worry about finding a parking space when we come back to the hotel late at night. And the best thing is that they don't charge for the parking fee. The hotel room overall is nice and neat, with all the necessary amenities. We were a little disappointed to find out that the hotel is not providing breakfast like it used to, probably due to the Covid, But there are many choice of restaurants nearby, most of them are only 5 minutes drives from the hotel. Denny's nearby even offer 15% discount when you show them your room key. The front desk staffs are extremely nice and friendly, especially Cecilia. She's always happy to help out and answering our questions, from where to find the nearby restaurants, to provide us with extra amenities for our hotel room when they ran out. Her enthusiasm and positive attitude make our stay in Best Western Plus Marina Gateway Hotel a pleasant experience. We truly recommend this hotel and we will definitely stay here again when we visit the area next time.

Our family took a trip over the 4th of July weekend to San Diego. We decided to stay at the Best Western Plus in National City. Hotel was clean, comfortable and stay was supper friendly, especially the front desk staff: Cecilia!!! We can't wait to stay again.

After Covid lockdown i was expecting everything is a chao but our experience here in this hotel is amazing. Cecilia made it all possible, she helped us from our everyday needs, recommend good places to go and very accommodating.

First of I love how the place is literally close to everything! Beach, Downtown Little Italy, Balboa Park, etc. When we came in to check In Ms. Cecilia (Concierge) welcomed us in and she was very friendly and welcoming and off the bat we knew it was gonna be a great weekend! She was very informative and efficient! Made us feel at home! Definitely would book here again! Everything you need that you don't want to haul with you are included like iron, hair dryer, mini fridge! Perfect little place for couples.

Best Western Marina Gateway is great place to stay. Conveniently located off the I-5 freeway with a lot of eateries nearby. What I endure most was the friendliness of the staff especially Cecilla who made my check in a breeze. She also made sure I had everything I needed so that I didn't have to go out to get anything. I Highly recommend!

The Hotel to my pleasant surprise was a newer hotel so it was very clean! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and they even allowed me to check in early so we could leave our luggage before we went to the zoo. All the decor was lovely and it had a nice size pool and a hot tub which was perfect after walking at the zoo all day. They even had an adorable little mini 4 hole golf course! The room was a bit pricey for me but that's what happens when you book last minute. Overall my family fully enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again until the future when we visit San Diego. Thank you for the exceptional service!!

Overall, my family and I were pleased with what this Best Western had to offer, and the price was reasonable for the area considering the proximity to so many places we wanted to go was the critical factor for choosing this hotel (very convenient to I-5). Although no breakfast/snack bar available, the room had a fridge and microwave for any items we wanted to purchase and have each morning - so that was at least convenient. The staff were welcoming and helpful.

Great of the greatest. Really clean and the employees were very helpful and friendly, Annie and Cecilia and the night man were the best. We came over from a different hotel because it was awful. The stay here redeemed out visit, Thank you!! We had a pleasant and comfortable stay, family friendly as well!

Everything about this hotel is above average and I wouldn't say it was the most perfect hotel. I would still recommend on staying here tho. The bed is definitely comfortable and the room feels spacious.

I love Best western plus hotel coz it's located at Downtown San Diego and it's near the beach, 15mins. drive to Seaworld. The hotel is really clean, nice lobby, & spacious rooms. You don't need to worry for foods coz there's a lot of stores nearby 3miles away just a few mins. drive they also have restaurant at the hotel. If you need assistance or any information, I highly recommend Ms. Cecilia at the front desk, she's knowledgeable, informative & very helpful.

Excellent service amazing experience and superb staff that makes it a truly wonderful experience. When I get tried of sleeping on the ship (I'm in the navy) and want a clean room, comfy bed and top of the line services I always know I can count on the staff cecilla, Ana and Annie to really make my stay enjoyable

Great stay May 29-June 3, 2021. No issues or complaints. Room was good for a best western. We were glad it came with a refrigerator and microwave. Customer service was great. The only thing we didn't love was the location of the room. We were at the end of a hall next to an exit so we got a lot of traffic noise but it wasn't a deal breaker. We'd stay there again and would recommend it. They have a pool and a gym but we didn't use either so can't speak on those amenities.

Rarely do you find as great a customer service as the one I got here at Best Western Plus Marina Gateway Hotel, from the front desk to the house keeping. Over at the front, Cecilia and Alquin did a great job in welcoming us to their hotel and made sure our room was ready to go when we came in. I would highly recommend the stay and I'm positive you guys will not be disappointed.

Cecilia and Annie at the front desk were wonderful. They were able to accommodate my family and I with no hesitations and no problems. They got us a bigger room and the pricing was very fair. Thank you Cecilia and Annie for making our stay that much more positive. I will always stay at Best Western / Best Western Plus. The Hotel is not not in a very busy part of San Diego but just 10 mins away from the Zoo and Sea World. I would highly advise this location to other guests in the future.

I love staying here! It's right off the I-5 and minutes from all the San Diego popular tourist spots and beach! Ample free parking, clean rooms and the staff are always exceptionally friendly! There is a restaurant in the parking lot, but several eating options just across the street as well.

Overall quality hotel which needs some minor upgrades. Room was clean and everything working. Decent location a few miles from downtown or Coronado. Only flaws we had: Loud buzzing noise at 4am, No breakfast at all, Old showerhead, Slow internet, Dark TV, Lobby area under construction, Hot tub unavailable

Had a great stay here at Best Western. All the staff is very helpful and accommodating. The beds are extra plush and comfy. My kids enjoyed the outdoor pool and got a nice swim in. Cecilia went above and beyond during our stay. She is a true asset to the company. Thank you Cecilia and thank you Best Western. We will be back for sure!
