"Lacking Hospitality Dusty Dirty Room NO Bueno"

As a long time best western diamond bonus member this was not a good experience for my daughter and I. We thought we would give this place a try as a bonus in Morro Bay and extremely sad to say, No Bueno! 1. Bad check in review: 3pm no one was in office. We left and Came back an hour later to find no one in office again. We waited and finally, But the sad part is that the male attendant in the office put us in one prime location room (thanked us for being best western diamond member) then the female manager came in to change our room because we used reward points to pay. (Room 208 then to 302) 2. Bad Room 302 review: at first I was happy because the room was next to the Maya Mexican restaurant. Wrong. Then I entered the room and the room immediately appeared dirty. Ceiling Fan, lamps, fixtures and yellow Dust rag left in room. Pretending to clean and actually disinfectant the room is questionable at this BW ElRancho Morro Bay. We did not sleep in bed but on top with our own blankets. Refrigerator not very cold. Next day, Realized we were treated bad for using reward points to pay, the manger switched our prim room to the dog room and we did not have dog, they had a dog next door and a group of loud construction workers as neighbors. Not a nice way to show appreciation for being a member. No bueno! 3. Bad breakfast review: not eye pleasing, old and ugly fruit. The eating area was dusty and I was not happy eating the simplicity of dry cereal and milk. Worried they serve dusty and old food. Not sure where the hospitality was at all in this hotel. No where to be found. No bueno!

With that in mind, I checked the reservation system and Mr. Marks it wasn't you who stayed at our hotel, there was a woman, a child, and a pet. When you contacted Central Reservations Headquarters and you requested to use your points for 1 night and that wasn't a problem, but sir it wasn't you that showed up, but rather a woman, a child and a pet took your place. Therefore we had to change the reservations to accommodate your family. Also Central Reservations didn't inform us that there will be 1 adult, 1 child and a pet. The room you were given was because of your pet. We thought it would be better that your precious furry friend was closer to the Pet Area, just in case your furry friend needed to use the restroom. You stated that you have pictures of the staff pretending to clean. Would you be so kind as to email those to me at [email protected] Looking forward to receiving them. As you may or may not know, Morro Bay is a very small and quaint city, sometimes it is hard to find a lot staff people. But I assure you that my staff is well equipped in doing front desk as well as housekeeping, and etc. In a small environment, a person must wear all kinds of different hats. In regards to the food, everything was fresh and ready to go, from the fruits, to the milk, to the waffle iron (which you can make your own waffles) and etc. If there was something that you didn't like, then perhaps you could have informed the front desk staff at the time. I am sure they would have accommodated you and your family. I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience. "Clean and Quiet"

This is a very nice quaint hotel, its not fancy, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. They have a nice breakfast with waffles that they put out, even though when we went the place was nearly empty, the day after a big holiday weekend. The staff is also very friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

"good location"

This hotel is an ideal position to explore Morro Bay. It is also perfect for exploring Highway 1. The hotel also has a view of Morro Rock - if the mist lifts! The hotel was comfortable and the continental breakfast was excellent and kept well stocked. An enjoyable stsy.

Many many places to stay in Morro Bay. I was looking for something affordable and close to the beach and dock area. This was the sweetest place. It's not right at the ocean front but close enough to walk if you want. It was very clean and comfortable. The lady the took my reservation was the one who checked us in as well, she was so nice and helpful. She keeps a lovely motel. Refrigerator/ microwave in the room. Clean and comfortable, the bed was great. We've been driving quite a bit this trip making our way across the country by back roads. It was so relaxing here and get a good nights sleep. A bit chilly to sit outside for the evening, but it has a beautiful area to sit and relax outside and a pool. Rooms are all on ground level, you can park right at your door. I will stay here again when I pass through and it's one I sure would recommend.

Booked a two night stay while at a conference. Pool was closed. Rooms are small and over stuffed with outdated mismatched furniture. Hotel looks tidy and well maintained on the outside but that is just a facade. Spent one night couldn't sleep well because of the traffic on highway 1. Woke up to ants all over my possessions in the bathroom. What a mess. I checked out and didn't stay the second night. Very disappointing for a Best Western.

"Quiet and peaceful"

Not quite as close to the beach as some of the other motels, but the price was right. Pretty grounds & many flowers. Room was small, but fine for us. Staff was friendly & helpful. WiFi was the fastest we'd ever had in ANY hotel/motel! We'll stay here on our next trip to Morro Bay/CA Central Coast.

We stayed here last week: April 17th -20th. The management was very friendly, the lobby clean, the breakfast, better than many others.... We had a King bed, but the room was cramped... the closet was a wardrobe closet that we moved to make room so we could get to the sink & microwave. The microwave was on a shelf under the counter & the refrigerator door opened to the right, so we had to stand in the bathroom door way in order to be able to get into it. The bathroom chemicals were gawd-awful, smelled like someone had peed on the floors, so we had to keep the window above the toilet open (which was also a feat). The bathroom door was also interesting, it opened past the wall & had to be closed in order to pass wardrobe & get to the sink/microwave area. The towels were rough, old & smelled of laundry chemicals. When I inquired about the obvious use of chemicals, I was told that they are "required" to use those specific ones... The owners need to get a grip: No other Best Western uses such awful smelling & allergy/asthma inducing chemicals The table & chairs were so close to the bed, we had to move them to get into the bed... The wall sockets under the window had an obstruction so I couldn't plug in my laptop & the other plug, next to the bed behind the nightstand, was so loose that it would give an electrical connection... There is no view of the ocean, which is across the highway, but the traffic can be loud. This is one level only, and thankfully at this time of year pretty empty.... Management placed the guests apart from each other. They are in the midst of refurbishing the pool. but I don't care about swimming in 60º weather. There is a grocery store about 1/2 block away & a Mexican restaurant right next door.

Love that all rooms are a lower floor. Handy restaurants and grocery store near hotel. Pool under construction so call facility 1st to see if its up and running. Very clean and tidy facility. Don't forget to sigh u for Best Western Rewards. If your a full time traveler this is an amazing free membership

"Unsatisfactory "

We have stayed many times at El Rancho, an older ‘motor inn', single story motel that has always been impeccably kept, clean and welcoming. After our recent stay I wonder if this property has new ownership? There were just a few oddities - a tattered rag left on the bathroom countertop, apparently from the housecleaning team which was not the sort of welcome one would hope for. Our attached to the wall hairdryer did not work so I went to the desk to ask for a replacement and was told they didn't have extra - what? How can they not have spares for times just like this? The desk attendant did go to another room and remove that hairdryer for me, while telling me that ‘people steal these' - I am not sure what I was supposed to take away from that comment. The pool has been under construction for repair for a long while, it's quite unsightly. We were traveling with an enclosed trailer behind our new extended cab pickup, so our rig is long, and after getting in very late we parked along the pool out of the way of other patrons, in a safe place. As we were getting coffee, the staff engaged each other with comments stating they hoped no one was sleeping in that trailer! Honestly I understand that they may have a problem with people wrongfully parking on their property, but it was unprofessional and when we said ‘oh, that's us', they basically said they hoped we didn't knock down the fence parking there - SERIOUSLY? As usual the property was quiet, good bed, we didn't have the breakfast but it appeared as usual, so it wasn't all bad. We will give it another go since perhaps it was just 1 poor experience, but it's never happened before, so we will see.

"Best Place to Stay"

The place had plenty of towels, coffee, and water. They had fresh baked goods, fresh muffins from a local bakery, scones, coffee cake, and lots of fresh fruit. I just love kiwis and at the time of check-in, i mentioned to the front desk staff that I love kiwis for breakfast, and when I when to have breakfast in the lobby, there was fresh kiwi waiting for me. I just love how this hotel and the staff went out of their way to have kiwi. Oh and there was Asian Pears and Fuji Apples. Awesome on all grounds.

"Nice but pool not working!"

Overall our visit was nice. The room was clean, staff friendly, breakfast was descent but when we arrived, we discovered the pool was under construction so we could not use it and the website did not let us know that it was under construction! What a disappointment for my kids! The lady at the front desk did not even offer to refund us a partial amount even though I mentioned it to her 3 times. Don't think I'll stay here again.

"Trip back to the 50's"

When we drove up to the hotel after our GPS brought us here...I thought this must be a mistake. It looked like a place out of the 50's. It was updated on the outside. Check in was great. The young gal who checked us in was very friendly and nice. The owner was also very friendly. She greeted us when we came in for breakfast the next morning and was very kind. The beds are comfortable and the room and the bathroom updated. It is quiet small but that is the way of rooms from that era. It was very clean.

This best Western was one of the cleanest hotels that I have ever stayed in. Normally I stay in Hilton or courtyard Marriott due to the fires I was forced to stay closer to the coast. Once arriving I noticed it's just a little hotel had to of been the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in. And also the owner Hawk had the best hospitality skills of any hotel manager I've ever met. So thank you once again best Western hotels El Rancho California.

Very nice place. Great location, clean, affordable. Felt safe. Fridge micro, coffee, breskfast, great staff. Wish I could stay longer. Nice little town. Coming from San Francisco was nice to not get gouged on prices.

Room was clean and comfortable, also reasonably priced. Pretty much circa 1980's in style. 20 minute wait for the shuttle from the airport. Included breakfast was modest.. Staff was cordial. Definitely an easy place to stay.

Best Western El Rancho is a good choice in Morro Bay. It's a smaller place with convenient, free parking.The host was great and met all our needs immediately. We really appreciated the breakfast choices; beds were comfortable.

"Quiet location"

This hotel is easy to find and close to Highway 1. Room is very clean and the king bed is very comfortable. The staff is very courteous and nice. Breakfast is included with a variety of selections. This location has easy access to coastal areas. Very close to various restaurants and downtown Morro Bay.

Clean room, breakfast and great staff. Breakfast waffles with toppings, unlimited coffee in a clean lobby area. Staff was great , friendly ,and very helpful. Next to the 1 ,beautiful drive next to the coast. 7 minute drive to Moro rock .

"I made friends with ants"

These were my suggestions to the hotel. Please fix them. The man at the Lonby who I assume was a manager was very nice and kind. No problems there. I only stayed one night and was exhausted from my trip so I didn't have time to report the problems. Half of them I noticed the next morning. I regret staying there. For the hotel: -get rid of the ants crawling on the bed, table and bathroom -get rid of the "motel" smell - have decent looking furniture, not at all what I expect from a Best Western - Clean the bathroom floors so that there aren't any footprints (specially male and huge and dirty) - have towels that aren't disintegrating and stained - do not send a lonely woman to the last god damn room behind the back door of a restaurant where it reeks of mariguana - do not leave windows open before guests arrive, maybe instead turn on the air conditioner, makes people feel somebody's been there that shouldn't have been there. - do not put a piece of paper covering the door peep hole (FIX IT) - paint the disgusting filthy doors And finally: why is brown water coming out of the faucet?! I mean seriously, even a Motel 6 has their act together (for the price). I will never comeback to this place or ever recommend it to anyone.

Great price! Friendly, Helpful Staff! Handy location---which is just minutes to beach; downtown; or the embarcadero. There one can find restaurants offering terrific fish, and, local shops featuring unique artisitic designs. Evening view---Just step outside your room, and experience striking sunset vistas to the west.

"Agoda cost me $200"

Had to change my reservation and the company that booked my stay didn't notify the facility. So, I incurred a $96 no show penalty, and had to pay for a night that I cancelled. Motel manager did his best to make it right, but I'm still out about $200. Don't use agoda to book, they don't do their job! The motel was as expected.

Excellent value and near most important things. Great staff, extremely helpful. The only negative is lack of AC. With the very mild climate there it was not needed. In fact heat was quite useful at the time.

I had low expectations to begin with, being that this is a lower-end roadside motel (like most places along the coast), but I won't stay here again. - Room: The room was clean, I guess, but I couldn't shake the fact that it didn't get a full cleaning upon our arrival. There were no amenities provided (no soap, tiny shampoo bottles or anything - all of which are typically provided in any hotel or motel). They did have a package of makeup remover towelettes in the room so I know they provide this stuff. We had our own soap/shampoo so we didn't need anything, just thought it was a poor attention to detail when cleaning the room. The room was extremely small, despite us having a room with two queen beds. My sister and I were stepping over each other constantly. Also, VERY few plug ins. You have to unplug a lamp or something to charge your phone. Annoying! - Staff: Weird. My sister and I felt like we were being watched. Not in our room, but when we were loading up our car, and in the breakfast area. Staff members were constantly lurking around the property, almost seeming like they were 'pretending' to clean stuff just to see what the guests were up to. It was weird. Especially in the breakfast area. My sister had a view of the guy at the front desk and she said he kept staring at me. We were creeped out. - Breakfast: One of the worst I've ever had! I'm not expecting a 5 star meal here. Just an edible breakfast so I can start my day. Or, hey, even a cup of coffee. But no. Not here. Coffee was watery, OJ was watery. The batter for the waffles was "off" - after cooking, the waffle had a weird texture and turned to complete mush after putting some syrup on it. We didn't dare try the eggs. I didnt mind the location - I thought it was nice just being off the highway, but we were just here for one night and didn't have interest in using the beach or anything. Laundry facilities are outside and the pool is in the middle of the parking lot, but we didn't use either one.

This hotel is just across the street from the ocean and it is very close to both morro bay and cayucos, both lovely little beach towns. The staff is pleasant and the hotel is an easy single story venue.

What a pleasure to find such a clean and updated motel. Top quality products have been used in the update. The owner is very professional and helpful. There is a restaurant within a few steps of the motel (important to us not to have to drive anymore once we arrive). Prices of lodging along the CA coast have been a learning experience for us, but this motel out of all the places we stayed, is the one most worth the price. Will definitely stay again.

I recommend this hotel especially for families visiting Morro Bay. I will definitely return to this hotel next year. thank you very much for making my family and i feel comfortable and special. The location of the hotel is wonderful because it's close to the restaurants, stores, and other vendors. Its so convenient.

Stayed for one night here passing through to LA, very nice comfortable and clean rooms. It is near a busy road but that didn't bother us and we slept very well. Had a nice drink in the Mexican restaurant next door and a couple of hours by the pool. Breakfast was great, even had gluten free cereal if you asked. Big shout out to peter for looking after us so well.

This is the single worst hotel experience I've ever had. Mind you, I've actually stayed at this place before and while it wasn't terrible last time, the decision was based purely on what was eligible for hotel points (TripAdvisor is trying to delete this review but I have actually stayed here in the past and regardless, prospective customers should be aware of the existing customer service issues). I called the afternoon of my arrival to confirm that I could arrive late and when asked when I would arrive I said maybe 10pm. The woman I spoke with said fine, provided no further instructions, and hung up. When we arrived at 11pm, the lobby was locked, the evening number rang indefinitely, and the booking agent I used could not reach the hotel either. The booking agent was eventually able to refund the stay but I was left scrambling trying to find a hotel at midnight. The following morning we drove back to El Rancho to see what happened and to rebook. The woman at the desk was the woman I spoke with the day prior and she was immediately confrontational, telling me that I had said 10pm (true) and that somebody had waited for half an hour and they did all they could. I asked why she didn't tell me that someone would be waiting and that it was a firm time because I've never had a hotel experience where there wasn't someone on site. I also asked why she didn't call me and she said she didn't have my number because I went through a booking agent. The latter claim boggles my mind. How can you accept reservations without having a contact number? I know I provided it. Even if there was some gap between the booking agent and the hotel, it's a national chain. They can't figure out how to make that work? And in the unlikely event that's all somehow true, she couldn't pull my number off caller ID or ASK FOR IT WHEN I INITIALLY CALLED SAYING I WOULD ARRIVE LATE? I get that there was some kind of miscommunication here but the woman just exploded the minute I began asking questions. My boyfriend pointed out that she was needlessly escalating and that we were just looking for an explanation. She got angrier when he told her there's a baseline expectation of customer service and that he'd review the hotel accordingly. At that point she kind of lost it and threatened to call the police. This still blows my mind because all we did was walk in to ask happened. I'm not sure if memory serves me correctly but I think she may have chased us out with a broom while threatening to "rate" us in kind. Well lady, be my guest.

Clean, neat, well maintained and newly remodeled comfortable hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice continental breakfast. Reasonable rates for the area. Convenient location just a bit off of the highway, yet quiet area with a very good Mexican restaurant next door. Had Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is not worth the high price. The location is not good, It's on the north end of town away from restaurants and shopping. It is right on the highway, so the view is not attractive. No air conditioning. I will not stay here again and could not recommend it.

"Very comfortable stay with excellent service"

We spent a night here last week and wanted to be sure and tell everyone what a pleasant experience we had. I was a bit worried as this is rated 2 stars and it seemed a bit rundown from pictures online. But the rooms look like they've been newly renovated and are very clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was excellent with lots of options. And I have to mention how much we enjoyed meeting the on-site manager, Rekha. She was so helpful and pleasant and it is obvious how hard she works to make sure that everything runs smoothly at the properly. We look forward to staying there again in the future.

Choose the other Best Western in Morro Bay. Room was stuffy and no air conditioning. Small room but clean. Over priced for the room size. Soda machine and ice machine were both broken. The owners had a plastic lined cooler sitting on the table in lobby for ice. Not up to Best Western standards.

The decor, TV, toiletry were all cheap. There was hair in the bathroom. The motel was overpriced and does not deserve the Best Western name. However, adequate breakfast was included and staff tried to be helpful.

"Modern Classic Motor Inn"

This is a great modernization of the classic Motor Inn. Everything was renovated to modern standards. Rooms were nice, clean and fully renovated. Just a little north of town, but convenient access everywhere (Morro Bay, 1 N/S and 41 to Atascadero). My new go-to place in Morro Bay.

"Great Location!"

This hotel has a great location just down the road from the Morro Strand Beach and the Embarcadero shops. Although the hotel is showing some wear, everything is kept clean and usable. The pool is larger than most that you would find at a larger hotel chain. The hotel is located right across the street from the 1 freeway and Main Street. So there is a bit of traffic nearby, but it can't really be heard when door and window is closed. Breakfast is acceptable if not a bit repetitious. A bit of variety would be helpful. The breakfast served is only a continental, whereas, all of the other Best Westerns we have stayed at had complete breakfasts. The service is good. Nobody really goes out of their way to do more than the basics. However, the staff are friendly and helpful when asked. My husband and I have stayed here quite a few times over the years and really enjoy the location. We will definitely be back.

This hotel is set away from all the action. There are other hotels within walking distance of everything. I didn't realize how isolated this one was and it faces the highway. It's more of a motel. Breakfast was okay. I wish they had a hot tub. Room was small which was fine for the two of us. And it was clean and fairly updated. The back of our room faced an RV lot. It was a quiet place which was nice.

"A road side motel, not for families "

The hotel is no more then a basic road side motel. There is no beach access and its located a few miles from the main city. The front desk service can be much improved. The pool is outside and not warm enough. The rooms are small, with probably to much old and unnecessary furniture. Breakfast was simple, nothing worth mentioning. One of the light bulb in the room had an annoying flickering light, that made it hard for the kids to sleep. We asked to fix it, and got another room instead, only to find out later it had the same issue. At this point the kids were so tired they fell asleep. All and all a bad 1 night experience. I would not recommend this hotel for families.

Friendly greeting upon our arrival. Bottles of cold water welcome. Clean and handy to local golf courses and restaurants,. The Mexican place next door is VERY good. We would stay at this place again except we found Sea Pines golf resort. We had no problems and all requests were addressed right away

Stayed here for 3 nights on a recent holiday in California, Rooms clean and well equiped. Help yourself Breakfast was quite good. Pool very cold and only for the hardy.Staff not particularly helpful.Not ideally located for restaurants within walking distance.

Great place to stay. Units are very clean and recently remodeled. Units are all single story .. no staircases or elevators to deal with. Very convenient location for downtown Morro Bay and freeway close to San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly and San Simeon. Managers are truly friendly and accommodating. It's not the Marriott, but it is a clean and comfortable place and at a very reasonable price.

We had a pleasant weekend in Morro Bay to catch a weekend music festival. The Best Western hotel worked out perfectly for us since it was our first time in the area and the staff was super helpful. We didn't get to tour as much as we had hoped but we plan on returning soon to enjoy the rest of this lovely town.

Stayed in this hotel before & after change of hands in 2015. Prior to 2015 hotel was just getting run down, found pet hairs on few ocassions in bathroom and in bed,open space had 2 barbeque pits where by some of guest had parties in wee hours in the morning with noice polution, also locals joining for free bee for enjoyment. management was friendly, but over all I decided to change. After change of hands this was total 180 degree change, no pets allowed, no smoking and bathrooms and showers were updated to morden state, new carpets, new paints. I was totally impressed bt the turn around. If one wants to be in town but not in town this is the best place to be in. friendly staff and management. With in walking distance of Mexican restaurant and 5 minutes by driving to Harbour.

We had stayed a few yrs back and they recently remodeled. Everything was small in the bathroom. 1 towel rack for 2 people. A small stall and a shower head that was fixed and nonadjustable so you didn't have a choice if you wanted to wash your hair or not. No fan to keep the moisture down. Refrig and TV didn't work very well. A small alcove for a desk and amour, which made it difficult to move around. It was a clean room and the staff helped us with a few issues. Breakfast could have been better quality for the price of the room.

this hotel was a good place to stay if you just require a quick spot to grab some sleep, shower, and a quick breakfast. There are some issues with the room: *No AC, just a huge ceiling fan directly over the bed. **Lots of bulky awkward, unstable furniture. ***not a full size bathroom. cramped shower stall and toilet.

It's an older facility but very quiet. I've been staying here on my trips the last 15 years. No air conditioning but something rarely needed in that location. There is a very large ceiling fan that works quite well, You can see the Morro Rock but you are not on the beach. Beach is about 2 miles away. Close to everything. Mexican restaurant on site. Nice swimming pool.

We found the Best Western El Rancho on Main in Mirro Bay, CA after we had booked a room at another motel down the street aways in which we found a couple little bugs and no sleep.....hard to sleep worrying about bugs and way to late to leave. Should have left since I did not sleep that night anyhow. One good thing...no bites and nothing brought home. Briana and Danny at the Best Western welcomed my daughter and me with open arms, bright smiles, tender hearts, plus a wonderfully clean and fresh smelling front office/eating area and a very clean, comfortable, feels like you are at home room. We slept like happy babies in the warmth of their mommas arms. If you are visiting Morro Bay, CA we highly recommend this hotel. You will not be sorry. From the time I arrived til the time I checked out I felt like I was the most important person to the staff at this Best western. I was given plenty of information about the facility and the surrounding area. The breakfast was well stocked and the staff always had a smile on their faces. The housekeeper went out of her way to make sure I had what I needed. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. I would recommend this hotel to all my family and friends. I travel a lot and this is one of the best stays I have ever had at a hotel.

Excellent location and great customer service! There are stores locally and just a short drive to Etascadero and the Morro Bay rock. This was a wonderful getaway! Cambria is close by, so is San Luis Obispo and San Simeon. There are lots of shops and places to eat. I recommend it highly.

We needed a room just for a night. We had reserved in advance and the room was ready for us at the determined time. The staff was especially pleasant and helpful, the room had a just renovated bathroom, parking right in front of our room. The highlight was having the continental breakfast in the morning which was included in the price. This was the best breakfast we had, although the hotels we stayed at before the Best Western El Rancho were more expensive. You could even prepare yourself waffles! Fantastic!!

My husband and I did a great circle visit of California, combining visiting friends and relatives with sightseeing. Hearst Castle was one of our visits, but rates for hotels in San Simeon made me look a little further out. We arrived at El Rancho just at 4. Our room was not quite ready. The owner offered us coffee and gave us a couple of bottles of water to make sure that we were comfortable while we waited the 10 minutes till our room was completed. The room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. There was a small fridge and a microwave in the room and a restaurant right next door. We took a ride to Morro Rock and walked the beach before dark, which was delightful. I'd highly recommend El Rancho as a friendly and comfortable place to stay.

From my home in the San Francisco Bay Area, this destination is a nice easy drive and ideal as a first leg of any longer journey transiting the length of California. In the year since my first review new owners and managers have come in but with no adverse impact on the property, its presentation or guest-friendly welcome. The motel is not on the water but is very close. The place is all one level and spread out in a number of units. It does not have air conditioning so if you leave windows open you hear the traffic. It does have a large fan but we did not use it so not sure if it would have negated having window open. It was relatively cool when we were there so worked for us. Being near ocean not sure if it cools down at night in hotter months. It seemed like an older place but was good for us as we basically only slept there and was gone during day. It does have an outdoor pool but not sure if it was heated. Since all units are ground level could be handicap accessable. Not sure based on the room we had if could get wheel chair in bathroom

My wife and I frequent hotels and motels in Morro Bay, and once stayed previously at the El Rancho. We picked the El Rancho this time because it was advertised to be "pet friendly" and we confirmed that in our reservation. They are not pet friendly or guest friendly! After being told that they would not honor our reservation, the desk clerk looked away and did not offer any apologies or assistance to make sure we were not going to be stranded, even something as simple as picking up the phone and calling another Best Western in town. Fortunately, there are many other great hotels and motels in Morro Bay. Try any of them, but certainly not the El Rancho.

When we checked in we had a great experience. The lady at the front desk was great. But when we had breakfast it was a different woman. This one was a mean one. We asked her directions to Hearst Castle and she did not even pay us no mind. We asked her for sausages because it had finished and she gave us an attitude. The only thing she was doing was on the phone and paying no attention if things were running out in breakfast. Because of this woman I think her name was Janet we will never come back to this hotel. If you are looking for customer service don't come to this hotel. Spend your money some place else.

We went to this hotel to spend the night before driving the Big Sur. We only spent one night (too much already for Morro Bay!). The hotel was clean but mainly basic. Do not expect much. It is just dew rooms around a parking space .. Staff are very friendly and wifi free...

A lovely motel. We'd recommend it to friends looking to stay at a nice, well-run older place which has been updated recently. Not a posh upscale place but comfy, quiet, safe, and complete. Enjoy the real shower, sizable with great pressure. Relax into the clean environment. Make coffee in your room. Use the small fridge or microwave. We were in the 300s and it was totally quiet. We can't vouch for breakfast, but it's there for free from 7:30 - 10:30 am.

Despite its location along the highway (which guarantees good accessibility by car) in the room it was not too noisy. room (2 queen size beds) was of comfortable standard and reasonably large; clean !!; good beds; US standard bathroom; American breakfast only (unfortunately as often in US with plastic tableware). Morro Bay beach is quickly accessible by car, but not reasonably by walking; fridge; small supermarket nearby at same road.

Booked two rooms for 3 children and 2 adults. Initially the rooms we were given could not have been further away. I initially asked to be moved nearer and was told this was not possible. My husband asked and after some discussion we were given the adjoining room !! The staff tried to charge us extra for this until we refused to pay for this. Breakfast was nothing special but was ok. The rooms had just been upgraded. Glad we only stayed two nights. Was in the middle of nowhere - wouldn't use again.

We have stayed at a lot of BW hotels, and this one by far is the cutest. The layout of the pool/public area is so cozy and welcoming, with tables, chairs, a love-swing, and a white picket fence! The rooms are clean and cozy, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We were just passing through, and I now wish we had stayed more days.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is a convenient location to the beach and the Morrow Bay Rock. It's also close to San Luis Obispo. Though not directly from the room, you can see the ocean from the parking lot. The climate is great. I would recommend this BW if asked.

This is a pleasant motel and a very good value, but the disabled facilities are inadequate. The bar next to the toilet was too short to be of much use in getting up and the shower needed more bars. So we wouldn't recommend it for a disabled person, but otherwise it's quite nice.

across the street from the ocean, and can see the rock on a sunny day. has been redone every well, cannot express how clean it was and about half of other over priced stuck in the fog why did I go to Morro in the first place. very quiet, right on PCH, will definitely go back, you can park your bike right outside your door....all the pleasures of home.

"Recently Renovated!"

Our room had been recently renovated an it was spotless, clean and quiet. The hotel staff was very friendly and they had they typical hotel breakfast. If you are expecting a hotel right downtown, forget about it. It is right off the highway and not really within walking distance of downtown Morro Bay. I took one star off because the bed was really HARD and uncomfortable. If you like a mattress that is like a board then you will be right at home!

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The exterior and interior of the hotel is very well maintained. The room appeared newly remodeled and there was a great selection of cable channels. Enjoyable stay and appreciated the extended breakfast hours.

"Service oriented place"

This is my second time there. I needed a 9 page document copied one morning and when I asked the front desk where I could have it done they took it from me and did it right there at no charge. One morning I was very late for breakfast and there was no more sausages. The from desk immediately prepared some for me. The entire staff have an "ownership mentality" and are service oriented always asking how are things and is there anything we can do to make you happy. I was given 2 bottles of water to the room when I arrived. Of course the rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable with plenty of parking. Heated pool which is nice on the cool foggy coast. I will stay here on my next trip to Cayucos.

Okay, if you are looking for a flashy high-end Resort hotel with a spa, this is not for you. If however, you are looking for clean beds, close parking, and a hot breakfast the next morning, this is your place! It just recently changed hands, so they are no longer dog friendly as in the past. That is the only caveat I will offer to someone who has stayed here before with a furry friend. The only other drawback is that you are not near to the beach. It is true, you are on the wrong side of Highway 1. However, the upside to that is that it's nice and close for when you want to hop up to Cambria to Hearst Castle for the day. All in all, it's a great place with clean beds and we will continue to stay there!

"Not sensitive to special needs"

At 80 and 84, we were fleeing the intense smoke in the biggest wildfire in CA, the Big Sur/Soberantes Fire. We made reservations for three nights, not knowing the direction of the fire, but the smoke cleared in our area in two days, so we could go back. We were still made to pay for the third night, no excuses, because that was the rate. We left to go home after two days, having to pay for a motel room we didn't use. The person at the front desk knew we were fire refugees but still insisted that we must pay. We are members of Best Western and have good times at the BW in Grass Valley, but there's no heart here in Morro Bay. Would never go again to this particular motel. I would like the money for our last night refunded.

Just returned from a 3 day stay in Morro Bay. I booked the hotel on a booking site. Having never stayed there before I was a little skeptical but from the moment I checked in, it was clear I made the right choice. Chris & Sugeil "Sue" are the property managers there. Great friendly people! Each time they saw me, they made it a point to check and make sure I was happy and comfortable. El Rancho was newly renovated. This property is clean, comfortable and great location. To me, people make all the difference and Chris and Sue are those people. I highly recommend BW El Rancho.

Arrived in Morro Bay without a hotel reservation (long story on that one!) but called and was able to get a room without any trouble. A little pricey but had to have a room for the night. Customer service was excellent, very pleasant and happy. Our room was fresh and clean. All of the amenities a hotel should have, which was very nice. Free Wi-Fi and hot breakfast. A little disappointed there wasn't movie channels to watch but not a deal breaker. Overall, a nice place to stay

new on the inside. retro on the outside. easy parking. i refuse to pay a ridiculous $200 dollars for a motel 6. mid state fair prices? i want amenities for that price. i didn't mind driving across the highway to the harbor. And highly recommend The Galley for lunch or dinner.

It's not a BB or anything fancy. You get what you over-pay for. Pros: Room was clean. Free coffee in the lobby. Pool was cool but falling apart. Breakfast was nice. Bacon, sausage, and hard boiled eggs. Cons: Beds were stiff. They had no roll away beds Pool and pool furniture was broke and tattered. My friend snores bad.

"Worst customer service"

This place has the worst customer service ever. The girl at the front desk is rude and talks to customers in a threating manner. I needed two beds and she refused t o change it or cancel my reservation. It was eleven at night and I had my child sitting in the car for over two hours trying to resolve my problem. She said I could sleep on the floor and she tried to charge extra for an10 yr old child. I have always stayed at best western hotels when I travel, but I will never again do so.

We've stayed at this hotel before and it would seem it is under new management as the quality is not as good. In our room, the dresser drawers were either dirty or broken, the toiletries in the bathroom were inconsistent (there were several lotions but only one shampoo), and the breakfast wasn't very good. On both days, the sausage was lukewarm at the warmest, the hard boiled eggs in the refrigerator were frozen, and there wasn't a good balance of savory or sweet breakfast (it was almost all sweet). Check in was slow and did not match the website (both the check in time and the rollaway bed availability), and the staff asked one of our party to leave the lobby before checkout. We've stayed here before and left with good feelings and wanted to come back. That's not true this time.

"New Owners taking pride in their family business"

A really good job on remodeling the rooms. Great location and the Mexican restaurant next door has a great Chili Verde Enchilada. New owners are working hard to make this a better place and the cleaning crews do an excellent job. Plus the location is great with ocean views and only 15-20 minutes from San Luis Obispo's Cal Poly, maybe 30 minutes to Pismo Beach area.

"Quaint motel"

Enjoyed our stay. The room is small. The location feels isolated yet the beaches and downy town is just few minutes drive. Beautiful garden and my children enjoyed the swings and running around the grassy area. The room is clean but the walls are thin. The property is clean and well maintained. The staff are accommodating.

"Not glamorous"

We spent a week in Morro bay visiting family. Our stay was very pleasant. The room was not spacious but newly renovated. It was very clean and comfortable. Soap, shampoo and body lotion were provided. The breakfast bar included make your own waffles, sausages, cold cereal, a selection of oatmeal packets, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, toast, English muffins as well as prepackaged pastries. It was well maintained.The managers are extremely hospitable and helpful.

I stayed for 2 weeks and my experience was completely positive. The staff members were efficient and friendly. The room was clean an large for the price. The hotel is located close to HWY 1 north and south entrances and only a few minutes from the Morro Bay Embarcadero. I look forward to my next stay.

"Quaint Hotel Right off the 1!"

Our stay here was very short but it was still a lovely stay. We were taking our time to travel down the 1 from Monterrey and mistimed our arrival. The staff called us to make sure we were still coming and offered an over the phone check in, just in case we didn't arrive before the office closed at 9pm. I'm really glad we did that because we arrived around 10:30pm. The over the phone check in went smoothly and the concierge informed me of our room number and where to pick up our key after hours. I was worried about the difficulty of finding the pick up area but it was very easy to find and get our key. The hotel is ranch style so there's only one floor and we were able to park right in front of our room. This was a huge bonus because we were both exhausted from the long drive. The room was very clean and practically decorated. We slept very well. The next morning, we checked out close to the time and that process went quickly as well. They had even saved breakfast for us since we slept in past the breakfast time. My only complaint was that when we turned on the TV, it was difficult to get a picture. We heard the shows but continued to get a message saying that they couldn't find the channel. This wasn't a deal breaker for us, we still had a great time and enjoyed the stay. I would definitely use this hotel again if we're in the area.

Room was brand new and smells new too. Very clean, polite and the beach is so close and has a view of the beach too! I would definitely recommend it. Right by the highway and easy to find. The Morro Bay Strand state beach is just nearby.

"Brand New....Everything and Great Rates"

We were so pleasantly surprised by how new everything was in this hotel. Even the carpet is brand new. I think I may have been the first person to use the washer and dryer. The pool is lovely; the kids really enjoyed it. The breakfast consisted of waffles sausage patties, hard boiled eggs and your standard cereal, toast, pastry, etc. A Mexican restaurant can be found at the far end of the parking lot. The staff are all wonderful. You can see the ocean...and the prices are very moderate for the area....what's not to like?

Excellent motel on the north side of Monterey. Well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. Very pleasant experience with check in. Great breakfast. Flower beds add a nice touch to the motel, especially the roses.

I stay in many hotels each year for business and usually some very nice ones. This little hotel was a refreshing stay, and a step back in time in a good way. The courtyard was quaint and I loved being able to drive right up and get to my room. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to make sure our needs were taken care of. The hotel is not near the main attractions of Morro Bay so keep that in mind but it was a short drive to any attraction. The advantage is that the noise is minimal. I would come back and stay again if ever in the area.

"A comfortable stop over point"

We stayed here as a stop over point en route from LA to San Francisco. After initially discovering ants in our room, we informed the owners who were extremely apologetic and immediately moved us to an upgraded room. Ours and our friends rooms (who had no issue with ants) were comfortable and well kept. The owners are very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast is offered with local eateries also close by if preferred. Despite an initial hitch I would recommend this hotel.

We were tired by the time we arrived and the friendly front desk made use feel better. The gave us a couple bottles of water and explained about breakfast in the morning which come with the room. When we walked to breakfast all the staff we passed said good morning. It was a nice touch.

"New paint for an old motel"

This was the 4th time I have stayed at this location. I was told that it has been freshly remodeled and upgraded. It was a pretty paint job and the compact bathroom wasn't handicap-friendly, but it was clean. It was very pricey compared to other BW sites in the vicinity. Breakfast was better than a sack lunch compared to other BW breakfasts. I will look for a cheaper stay next time.

"Best Western El Rancho Morro Bay"

Hotel layout gets an A+. Plenty of parking. Ability to park right in front of room. Plenty of space between parking spots. However, these amenities don't seem to be what is important to most Morro Bay travelers, as the hotels in the heart of town appeared largely to have their parking lots packed tightly with cars. Quiet, even though it is right next to Hwy 1. Pricing was a little high considering this facility was not in a premium location and that I am a long time Best Western customer.

"Overpriced"

When I travel, I usually stay at Best Western hotels, and have a membership with BW. The stay at this particular property (BW El Rancho) was disappointing. In my opinion, the price did not correspond to the value the hotel provided, and the hotel looked more like a motel. Further, it is located on a street with high traffic, and since I'm a light sleeper, I did not get a good night rest. The room, although clean, was very basic. There were also a few other issues. I do want to mention that the gentleman at the check-out desk was nice and professional, and seemed concerned about my experience, but was not in a position to do anything.

The El Rancho is a well maintained motel located only a few minutes from downtown Morro Bay, Morro Rock, and the Main Beach. The rates are very reasonable. It also makes a nice base location for day trips up the spectacular Highway 1.

"the best motel I stayed in"

I spent two weeks traveling, from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas to Disneyland to San Francisco. The service and quality at this hotel was outstanding. The overall cost was a little high, but the continental breakfast compensated for the difference in price. Even though I could not find my AARP card she still provided me with the same discount. During the period of time I was registering the elderly couple as well was looking for a room, she also provided them with a discount which saved them greatly compared to the hotels in the Morro Bay area, The owners are very pleasant and will be happy to work with you in regards to the price of a room. It very peaceful and quiet they have a beautiful garden surrounded by roses and a heated swimming pool.

"Bad Experience!"

We had booked 6 months ago and then showed up with our 2 small dogs. The hotel no longer accepts pets and the clerk was rude in advising us. He then allowed us to stay (two other cars in the parking lot) but charged us TWICE the usual BM pet fee. The town was pet friendly so this attitude doesn't fit. Rudeness of staff and overall experience made for a bad stay. Also, you could see the beach but it was too far for us to walk (and we like to walk) so the website was deceiving. Stay away - lots of choice!

Very nice. Comfortable bed (very). Very close to places to eat and not far from beach and Embarcadero. Walking distance to the beach, we found a lot of shells and sanddollars. Clamming is possible had I wanted to get closer to the cold water.

Hesitated to stay here, based on the previous guests' reviews. Here is the scoop: the place is now updated and the rooms feel clean. Not hugely spacious, but…. pleasant and inviting. I have two major issues with the place: 1. the price charged (presumably on some days) is outrageously high. $200/night is too much! Also, do not like the fact that this was the only BW property where the cancellation called for 72 hours. I wanted to move a date 24 hours before checking in but it was not possible… The place has come along way, the staff is very friendly, but to ensure more satisfied travelers, do not jack up the price on weekends so high, and do not restrict changes. Otherwise, thumbs up!

There were a few maintenance issues but the rooms were very clean and Norman the desk man was excellent. Friendly and helpful Fix the pocket doors and get a 5 star rating. I'm very picky about clean rooms and they were very good. Comfortable beds too!!

From check in to check out this Best Western was a terrible experience. There were ants in the room (and bed), front desk staff would not initially honour a travel coupon from Best Western. They were reluctant to print me a receipt upon check out. Small rooms with poor lighting. This looks to be converted old motel and is terribly overpriced! Never staying here again.

First the location is awful: an area you can tell is NOT safe! Second, the manager is unprofessional. He does not know how to resolve issues + he is a crook from how he talks with customers who are calling him. Third, the breakfast sucks Worse than a Motel 6 for 4 times the money of a Motel 6! You have to be nuts to stay there.

The pictures of this property on the Best Western website are not true. The ocean or Morro Rock are not visible as shown in pictures. When you arrive you will find it in the middle of factories with an empty parking lot and men hanging around outside smoking. The desk staff are discourteous to women and the Best Western Customer Service staff refuse to cancel a reservation when you don't feel that a property is safe to stay at. Will never reserve a room with Best Western again. Worst customer service ever.

Would not stay there again. Was not notified hotel was under construction when booking. Water was turned off in the room when we arrived, no air conditioning, front desk staff continued talking on the phone while we were checking in.Ice machine covered in dust and dirt. Roll of toilet paper lying beside the pool. Coffee maker did not work in the room, breakfast was not till 7:30 and no one could be found. Hotel is next to freeway

This motel overlooks Morro Bay, a beautiful location. It is close to Hearst Castle, just up the road on CA1. Room clean. Needed to know that must manually change to channel 3 to get to cable. Bathroom has good new water saving toilets. Shower head did not move, so difficult to wash. Also, no place to put soap/shampoo while in the shower. No tub. Also, breakfast sparse. I stayed 2 days, and there was NO HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE. NO ONE EVEN CAME IN TO EMPTY THE GARBAGE. Only worth staying here for good price. WiFi very good.

I turned up without a prior booking and stayed for one night. They had a vacancy and the guy on the desk was very nice and efficient. The rooms were big, comfortable with a clean bathroom. A continental style breakfast was provided in the morning, with a facility to make waffles! Very close walk to the dock which was lovely.

Sorry to say but this hotel is dreadful. The rooms are tiny, smelly and way overpriced. The pool is basically on the side of a busy road, surrounded by a lawn where guest have their dogs do their business. The manager is friendly enough but the rest of the personnel is sullen and incompetent.

There is some updating going on in the bathrooms but the "new" bathroom looks like a poor fix up by unqualified workmen. Very old motel and when I stepped out of my room I stepped over the garden to get to my car and ended up in mud past the top of my shoes. Old carpet, no closet, very few TV channels. Very polite man at check in and check out. Mexican restaurant at the end of the lot was decent. This motel is on the main road but not on the water and is noisy.

Had a wonderful experience with staff and room. Love the beds and plushy pillows, nice breakfast menu and park area for my pet. Staff was very friendly and helpful with info on dining, local sites to see and area maps.

I stayed with my two dogs and it was a great experience. They were very accommodating and provided great service. It is also in a great location and within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, grocery store, baseball field, dog friendly park, and others. I have been going to Morro Bay my whole life. I would recommend to anyone.

Other higher end hotels were booked for the night so we took our chances here and found it to be very quaint, clean and friendly. We felt very comfortable and safe and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

I would like to say that my one night stay at this property was trouble free. However that would not be true. The first room I was given had a major problem. Upon reporting it to the front desk, their concern was very evident and I was immediately moved to a similar room right next door. This second room has a minor problem with the TV and within two minutes someone was there to fix it and make sure I was satisfied and comfortable. Maybe there shouldn't have been any issues to begin with, but once they were surfaced they received instant and effective resolution. Great and concerned management. The one issue that causes me to rate this property as just Very Good is location. It is easy to get to, but on the east (inland) side of highway 101. This means that anytime you want to go to central Morro Bay or the waterfront you need to travel a winding service road, go under 101 and then travel quite a bit further to your destination. Not real convenient, but.the rate takes in to account the less than ideal location. I will stay here again. Clean and very customer friendly..

I stay at a lot of high end hotels for business, but when I'm traveling on my own dime, I like to stay at small, inexpensive hotels. The one challenge is cleanliness -- you never know how well a small place will be kept. The BW El Rancho was super clean and comfortable. It's old-fashioned, but honest. Just the ticket when all you want to do is get a good night's sleep, then on to the next city.

The beach view is the attraction. Nearby beach to the north to park and take in Morro Point and Morro Rock. Just north of SLO about 15 miles. Great Mexican restaurant, Maya, in the same parking lot. Easy in and out off Main street rather than highway 1

New owners had just taken over so Iwill give them the benefit of the doubt. Lots of issues here. Old hotel - exterior has been updated so it looks OK from the outside. Rooms are fairly clean but need some serious modernization. This is not what I expect from a Best Western. Nothing worked properly here - guest printer would not print, sink was plugged (problem corrected in short order), pool was green with algae (still green when we left 6 days later so we never got to use it), bed was lumpy, breakfast area was very small, not much of a food selection and the guest laundry was so filthy we had to use laundry in town. Some problem with our reservation when we arrived which was eventually resolved after a couple of calls to BW head office. Every time I went to the office there was someone there complaining. Payment for the whole stay was taken upon arrival and after 6 weeks on the road we didn't have the energy to move to another hotel. I got the feeling that trying to get my money back would be a big hassle so we stayed put. I have not seen a BW like this in all my travels. Its just a run down old hotel and my advice - pay more if you can afford it and find a nicer place. .

Well maintained property, Excellent staff/management, romms are small (cozy), but comfortable. Parking in front of rooms.Easy access to Fwy & Morry Bay resturants. Minutes to Hearst Castle, San Luis Obispo and Cambria. We have been going here for years and enjoy each visit.

We have stayed at the El Rancho, Morro Bay for decades through several owners through good times and bad and we stayed because we loved the location and the people who represented the owners and because it is a Best Western. Our pets were welcome and we were treated like respected returning guests. This Thanksgiving we stayed for the second time in less than two months and in that short time things had drastically changed. It took me at least 15 minutes to figure out what the clerk was telling me because he barely spoke English. The conversation got pretty heated because he didn't understand me either. I finally realized he was telling me that my reservation, which I made personally with the new owner, would not be honored and I would have to stay in a lesser room because I had my dog with me. I reminded him that we had requested that room and that I had a reservation confirming that room and in the end I got that room (and not at the higher price he insisted that room was now worth) but still I was insulted by his attitude and puzzled as to why Best Western would let someone like that represent them. We are also, looking for another hotel in the area.

With new management most all pet friendly amenities are gone, and the pet fees increased by 30%. Hotel rates have also increased without any increase in amenities. Service is good however. Time to find another favorite facility in the Morro Bay Area.

We stayed here for a few nights with two of my grandkids, and one of the things we liked the most, is that they had a selection of VHS tapes and DVD's movies at no extra charge to guests. Very, very nice.

The place is under new management and the quality of service and our stay was wonderful. The staff was pleasant and eager to please. We were always greeted with with a smile. They told me that they are in the process of upgrading the entire property . The room was comfortable and very clean. Its right off the 101 which is convenient, quiet, and a quick ride to town. The rooms are not large but it works. They are stocked with complimentary soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Breakfast offers muffins, pastries, toast, make your own waffles, cereal, sausage, and hard boiled eggs, juice coffee. Standard continental. The hotel accommodates pets which is great. Dogs receive a basket with treats and towels. Parking is right in front of your room which makes loading and unloading convenient.

Find another place to stay. This property must be under new management and it is falling apart. The lobby smells horrible and basics such as water glasses and shampoo were forgotten. We received as 4 a.m. wake up call. WE DID NOT REQUEST A WAKE UP CALL. On top of that we had not hot water.

Cute place, nothing fancy and old school where you park in front of your room. Comfy room, cozy and clean. Right on Hwy 1 so no easy beach access. Nice outdoor tables/chairs for sunset viewing. A bit out of town so quiet but oh so close to Taco Temple!

Easy to find, free car parking, free Wi-Fi, friendly reception staff and a good breakfast offering. Nice large showers and plug point by a mirror for a hair dryer. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

A very nice hotel with a budget price. A little bit out of the main town of Morrow Bay, but a great value. On the East side of Highway 1 with a good view of the ocean. An older property that has been maintain very well. Clean comfortable room and a very friendly and accommodating staff. If you don't need to be on the Bay or in the main business district, I would highly recommend this place.

The rooms are old with no air conditioning. When we were there, it was warm so we had a hard time sleeping. The windows need to have locks on them. The toilet is the SMALLEST LOWEST one we have ever seen . . you would expect it had been manufactured for a child. As an older person, it is hard to get up from such a low "instrument"!!! We would never stay here again. The staff is nice. The breakfast was mainly sugared so it was difficult for the husband of this couple to have breakfast. They need to have NON SUGARED items!!!

The BW El Rancho reminds me of family vacations, everyone piled in the station wagon and you're driving down the coast to that new amusement park, Disneyland. You turn off the coast highway where the Pacific rolls ashore on one side and this 'ranch-style' motel awaits your arrival on the other. The swimming pool is crystal clear and just waiting for someone to 'cannonball' into it. You park right in front of your room, and the first thing you notice is the planter is full of roses. Open the window, open the door, and that soft sea air makes you feel like you are in an island bungalow, as the sun sets luminously into the west. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, many amenities make you feel right at home. I've considered several other options on my trips from north to south or vice versa but I always come back to the El Rancho because I like the idea that it's uncomplicated, it feels extra roomy, and it has that road-trip nostalgia many of us still love from our younger days.

The bed was incredibly hard and uncomfortable. One of the few reasons I stay in a hotel is a bed. I don't hang out in the room for hours. It's there to sleep and shower. It's an older motel on the north side of town and was built before A/C. Normally on the central coast it's not a big deal, but it was a rather warm day in late September.

I don't know what happened to Best Western that decided to adopt this road side motel before Morro Bay. The rooms don't have air conditioning and in a hot day as we arrived the room was stuffy..A fan in the ceiling was the only cooler and didn't do the job. I expect Best Western to have the same standards for all its hotels. Even if the staff were polite, still the overall experience was that we received a stuffy room with no moving air. Opening a window was not considered during the night because the window is on the corridor and we don't need people peeping in. Breakfast didn't have all items like some other Best Westerns I stayed in. They gave the minimal choice. No Yogurts, No Philadelphia Cheese. The price of this hotel was over rated in comparison to other hotels available on that night. We paid over 100$ and we chose it because it was Best Western. There were better located hotels in Morro Bay which were even cheaper.

We really enjoyed our stay at BW El Rancho. The room was clean and the people running it were great. The pool was really nice and there is a great Mexican restaurant MAYA right next to the motel so we had good food there too.

We just took a one night stay when on the way to santa barbara. The room when we entered kind of smelled weird and there was dirt hanging from the ceiling. Breakfast was ok. Just that from outside the hotel you can see the humongous morro rock

I went to morrobay and I spent a night in this little motel its nice location next to the beach but I got some negative points toward the motel #1 NO WINDOW SCREEN. IN BATHROOM FLYS WHERE COMING IN .#2 NO LOCK SECURE IN THE MAIN WINDOW AT THE ROOM MAIN ENTRANCE.#3 an stuff person did open the door while we where inside the room that is not nice
