"Very poor service "

H2O_log, St. Augustine, Florida 27/03/2019

Room we checked into had no AC, no internet. We were moved to a new room several hours later, but only after asking 3 times. Internet in new room worked only part of the time. The front desk answered the phone less than half the time we called. We asked for an iron - none in the entire hotel. I gave two stars for great location, good patio/pool area, and a friendly (but overworked) staff. We are in the area every year, won't return to this hotel.

"great location two blocks from down town, easy to walk around"

karengonzalez5, Guadalajara, Mexico 04/07/2018

The front desk staff is very nice and smiling all the time, also the bell boys. They can tell you where to go for a 1 day tour, very helpfull and you can trust them. The room was clean and good view to the city. Small pool clean nice garden , lovely restaurant

"Absolutely atrocious"

User 13/09/2017

Upon entering the room, there was an unbearable smell of mold. The air conditioner in the room was antiquated and noisey. We had to call for assistance several times as the pluming in the bathroom was terrible. The toilet did not flush and the water in the sink did not reseed. The internet was horrible and extremely slow. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. We ended up only spending one night and moving to another hotel bright and early the following morning.

"Not a great hotel"

JosefromHouston, Houston, Texas 09/08/2017

Room smelled like mold, they wouldn't open the window to let the air in, after the third request we were told it was against company policy, can't understand why, we were on the 5th floor. A light also took several trips to the service desk to get fixed. Good location and workers very friendly. Ok if you plan to be out all day and just sleep in the hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for 7 nights. After the 2nd night I was convinced I would never stay there again. There were several problems with the facilities. The only consolation is that the people were nice, most of them. Terrible internet, the air conditioner made a horrible noise sometimes, there was construction going on, which was quite a nuisance, the tv remote did not work properly, the hot water did not work sometimes; one day I got sick and I truly believe it was the food I ate at their restaurant. They claim cable, but they only have one English channel, CNN. I hate giving bad reviews, but my stay there was pretty bad. The offered another room, but the internet would not work there either.

"Nothing fancy"

Andy H, Menasha, Wisconsin 22/05/2017

We came here after a really bad night at an all inclusive outside Progresso. The young man at the desk was very kind, spoke some English and always had a smile. The room was small but clean. There was bottles of water and a coffee maker. After being at another hotel with nothing the water and coffee maker was heaven. The beds were not our beds at home but still not bad for Mexico.. The room was very quiet and in the afternoon after walking the ruins in the heat, the little pool was like an oasis. Again the pool was in back so no noise from the busy street out front. There are many restaurants close by and a lot of shops and old churches and squares. Many people will stop you on the street and just give advice on where to shop. If they recommend an artisan co-op with all Beautiful handmade items for sale I highly recommend it. The best western was inexpensive but a great deal in the midst of a large city. You can also jump on a bus and go anywhere. The best western saved my anniversary trip after such a bad experience at another hotel.

"A bit dated but a good location"

4t3534, Portland, Oregon 05/07/2016

This hotel is situated between the central plaza and passeo de Montejo; about 3 blocks from either location. The hotel itself is a little dated. It starts to show a little age in the rooms. Wifi is not exactly that good. It keeps dropping for me even though somebody restarted the router for me.

"Cozy Hotel"

Abeer71, Dhaka 03/04/2016

We booked 2 rooms and the rooms were given on poolside. The rooms are very comfortable with clean bathrooms. The hotel is very centrally located. Only 5 minutes walk from the Plaza Independence. Several restaurants and international food chains are available on that square. The staffs are very friendly. Problem is they can only speak in Spanish. Breakfast was buffet with 15-20 items. Not bad. Only problem was getting wi-fi in the rooms. The staffs failed to arrange wi-fi in our rooms. Only available was in the lounge. But loved this hotel.

"Perfect location, less than perfect stay."

Jeanne F, Regina, Canada 12/03/2016

We decided to go with this hotel because the location was perfect, they had a pool, air conditioning and a restaurant. We had booked a room with a king bed. We got two double bed and were told they didn't have a king bed for us unless we wanted to upgrade to a bigger room. They didn't seem want to work with us on this at all. They seemed to understand our concern but would only speak in Spainish. My husband speaks some Spainish but it was not helping. We did not always get a bath mat and when there wasn't one the bathroom floor was extremely wet and slippery. Also we didn't always get facecloths even though we asked for them. Our stay was 10 days here and the dirt and dust in the corners the last few days was very noticeable. The restaurant breakfast buffet left a lot to be desired if you didn't like Mexican breakfast food in a buffet. There was only a couple of choices in fruit which seemed insane after seeing all the fruit available in the market. The pool area looked very nice but only had 4 lounge chairs and no other seating. The water was very cold. The hotel was situated a block and a half south of Santa Lucia Square which has several great places to eat and about 6 blocks from Paseo de Montejo.

"Value for money"

Becci2308, London, United Kingdom 06/02/2016

Nice hotel, very basic rooms but all that you need. Safe deposit would have been handy as well as a working shower that would produce hot water. Pool was not very clean, towels were so old they were half shredded and torn apart. Which is not what you would expect for a Best Western. Also, bring shower gel etc. as the one provided is not even sufficient for one person for one shower. If possible at check-in ask for a room with a safe deposit and possibly a working shower, out of the 4 rooms we had booked ours was the only one without safe and shower with hot water. But for the price and location.... Plus staff was very friendly. Would go there again.

"Central location, friendly staffs"

Vagabondie, Mississauga, Canada 10/01/2016

Convenient location. Free parking. Short walk to the main square and there are many food and shops around. The staffs were friendly, the gentlemen guarding the parking lot always helped us to get out on to the street and helped to direct parking. The gentlemen at the hotel door were enthusiastic to answer our questions and recommend places to go and things to do. The pool in this hotel is relatively big, hardly anyone swam when we were there. The hotel is nice and clean, things looked new on the inside. The price of the hotel was fair, I would say the value is good. No breakfast included with the hotel fee, which is fine, you can always dine in or find other breakfast places.

"Good? WORST western ever "

User 30/12/2015

This is the worst hotel I've ever been!!! If you want to come to merida dont stay at this hotel, the location is very good, the hotel is so old! The beds are very uncomfortable, you can't sleep because the loud noises, insects in the room, also I went to take a bath and it brokes in my head! WORST HOTEL EVER....dont be fool by thinking that its like all best western hotels!

"Standard Quality"

diogenes_9, Laguna Beach, CA 08/12/2015

After a fiasco at Marionetas, horrible, stumbling along with luggage looking for a good hotel, I looked up and there I saw the Best Western sign, what a relief, just fine, everything worked, clean, neat, delightful hostess, a real welcome relief in a time of need.

"Great, until you try to sleep!"

Paul_Phelan, Vancouver, Canada 25/11/2015

At first, I thought this was an incredible place, beautiful lobby, beautiful pool and a clean room. Then we tried to sleep. Went to take a shower and it took around 10 minutes just to get hot water, then after our like warm shower; we ended up trying to go to sleep at 11pm and our room (218) just happen to be right across the courtyard from the restaurant and the noisy dishwasher, I did go down to the front desk and to their credit they stopped them and confirmed with me it was the sound of the dishwasher. Finally fall asleep after not only the noisy dishwasher, but people sitting around the pool drinking and chatting. At 6am my wife and I were delightful woken up again to the amazingly loud sounds of the dishwasher running again. I would not recommend staying here if you want a peaceful quiet sleep; however if you do stay here, don't get room 218!!!

"Decent Hotel in the heart of Merida"

Joy W, Houston, United States 01/10/2015

This is a decent hotel in a good location in Merida (Center). Some of the rooms need updating, but the staff was very cordial and the breakfast buffet was good. The WiFi does not reach into the rooms and is limited in the lobby.

"Average location but with insects"

Levent K, Antalya, Turkey 22/09/2015

Hotel location is not very bad or very good. It is far away from cathedral-zocalo about 10 minutes by walking. Pool was not clean. Personel was friendly and helpful. But we didn't solve the insect problem both pool side and main tower rooms. I found a big dead insect on the first night. After one day we changed the room and tranferred a room on main tower 5th floor. We faced more little insects again. Room service sprayed with a toxic that night. It didn't worked. After we decided not to get rid of this. I don't prefer this hotel again. Finally, I think that this is not related with all Best Western hotels, it is about only this hotel.

"Nice Hotel"

User 10/09/2015

It's a very nice hotel, loved almost everything about it, except the room we got, the bathroom sink kept clogging. The restaurant was nice, however due to the language barrier, our order was screwed up; I ordered tacos with corn tortilla since I'm allergic to gluten, however, they brought tacos made out of flour tortilla and it was all covered with cheese, so i was quarter way through the tacos before i noticed it wasn't corn. But aside from that mistake, the hotel is a nice place.

"Good location, lack of staff"

User 28/06/2015

The hotel is nicely located in the city center, within walking distance to most of the downtown attractions. But the hotel staff is very limited and service tends to be slow. And the facilities are looking somewhat old and need some renovation. But overall the hotel was OK.

"Good Value and Location"

Topes13, Winnipeg 25/03/2015

Stayed here for two nights over Christmas and were quite pleased with its great location and clean rooms. I booked online when I found a deal, and would easily stay here again though that may depend on price. As I mostly just use the room as a place to crash and lock my stuff up, this hotel is more than adequate, if you intend on spending time around the hotel pool and such you may be better served by looking into the higher end hotels.
