"Horrific night's sleep on a cheap bed"
MarkH6072, 30 Août 2018

Stopped over in Menton en route to Provence. Booked a “superior” upper floor room (308) with balcony. Although the location is superb with a beautiful view, staff super efficient and friendly, that is only 50 percent of a hotel's job. Worst night's sleep of the trip so far. Apart from the tiny, but neat room, this had to be the worst bed I've ever slept on ... mattress collapsed on the edges, so it felt like sleeping on an upturned rowing boat ... pillows lumpy ! All in all, maybe 2 hours of sleep with an 8 hour drive ahead ! Not again !

"Fabulous hotel and location"
Ian K, 27 Août 2018

We stayed here for 10 nights in August. The location right on the sea front couldn't be better, a 10 minutes easy stroll into the centre of Menton and only 2 minutes from the Solenzara restaurant, bar and beach resort, which guests at the hotel receive a discount for using the beach. The hotel staff are helpful, very efficient and ever so friendly. We had stayed in Menton before but when we go back it will be to the Hotel Prince de Galles, an absolutely great hotel. Special mention too for the rooms, which are luxurious and spotlessly clean and the buffet breakfasts, which offer a wide choice - cooked, continental, cereals, toast, juices, fruit, etc. Can't wait to return

"Super! "
Ben H, 26 Août 2018

We stayed for two nights here. Very modern decoration in the reception foyer and in the bedroom all looked cared for and recently decorated. Our room was a good size and was very clean or arrival. Air conditioning worked well which was great in the hot weather we had. Staff were helpful and friendly. We arrived a few hours early having driven across France. The hotel staff were happy to hold our luggage and then prepare our room for an earlier check in - he contacted the cleaner right away to make sure our room was ready ASAP while we found somewhere to eat along the beach front. The hotel I ideally Situated with an entrance from the costal road and from the road that runs parallel. There is parking but this was pre-booked and full for our stay. There is lots of free on road parking however this comes available rarely. There is also some parking on the rod which is pay and display at certain times of the day. If you do not display you will get a parking ticket as we found out - we misread the sign and thought we were Parking in the free period. We shall have to wait for a ticket to come in the post as a notice was left on my car...ooops! The location of the hotel is perfect for a walk along the beach to find some lovely restaurants and for getting to Monaco. If we were in the area again we would book this hotel.

"K & D.............. UK Cheshire.............. Fabulous Hotel and First Class Service"
Scenic721102, 25 Août 2018

Absolutely amazing hotel and super friendly staff all round, would do anything for you and always helpful if you needed them, I can not fault anything about this super wonderful stay we have just had for 10 days, didn't want to come back home, Menton is such a fantastic and stunning place to be, we absolutely loved every day of being there Room was gorgeous with sea view and balcony, it was a dream to be here.................. I would highly recommend this place, loved loved loved it all, and didn't want to leave, weather was absolutely amazing, and thanks once again to all the wonderful staff at this hotel........................ Thanks for everything to make our holiday such a dream xxx

"Great Location and view!"
Melissa C, 21 Août 2018

The staff were very friendly, the room comfortable and quiet in spite of how close it was to the street and people walking by the beach etc. (Very) close to a private beach in Roquebrune which was great. I'm not sure if we just weren't lucky with the parking spaces or what, but we had to park on the street (meter charges applied) which is not terrible as it was still close to the hotel.

"Great spot in a top location"
dawncee28, 01 Août 2018

Our room was on the ground floor and had just been completely renovated, which was excellent. It would have been nice to have a balcony room, but there was good people watching on the road outside the hotel. The balcony was a great place to enjoy an evening drink watching the sun go down. All the staff were terrific.

" Okay hotel - bad breakfast"
Tomi S, 14 Juillet 2018

The hotel was clean and personnel quite nice. There is a really nice private beach in a beach club close by for the hotel but it cost 19€ per person. The breakfast was quite bad, if you are going to choose this hotel, I would recommend you to skip the breakfast.

"Menton in June"
jackomcc, 10 Juillet 2018

Stayed here 23rd to 30th June lovely hotel and grounds. Staff extremely attentive, knowledgeable and willing to assist their guests. Had a sea view room with balcony, breathtaking in every direction, has spoiled us for future trips. Hotel handy to small cove/beach 20m for morning swim before breakfast, nice walking distance from Menton. Only complaint being stay was too short, easily sorted, will book now for two weeks same time next year.

"Great service. Awesome room and view!"
Marcos S, 04 Juillet 2018

I was looking for a room with a balcony and a sea view at Menton and, after having an awful experience trying to book a room at Royal Westminster desk, I've found this great hotel with an even greater attendance at the desk (Mr. Jean-Baptiste). He was very kind and helped us to pick up the best room in the hotel, granting our best shots in our trip. The minibar at the room is free and the room is great! Nice bed, linen and the best bathroom I've ever tried. The only thing I'd change is the grid at the balcony. Due to its proximity to the sea, is kinda rusty at some points. 9.5/10 for this hotel..

"Little things to change."
Ilaria16112, 27 Juin 2018

Me and my boyfriend stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. We were given room 002, right near the reception. A bit to close to reception, but it was still very nice. The room was very clean, except some stains on the carpet. The second day, the maid didn't clean the bathroom.. the dirt on the floor was there for 2 days and the toilet wasn't cleaned. We asked if they cleaned it, they said they cleaned it everyday.. unfortunately the next day it was still there. By mistake I spilled iced tea on the bed and wrote an apologize asking if they could change the linen. After 3 hours i went back to the room and the maid was there so we sat at reception and had one caffè that was kindly offered by reception. Went back to the room and the note that i wrote was on the floor right near my luggage like rubbish. The bathroom was still not clean, i went to reception and i found the housekeeping supervisor i told her and she said that the bed was a mess!!! So mistakes can't happen i guess....... She sent back the maid(dressed with her normal clothes). The maid got mas at me for spilling the ice tea!!! Saying that for her it wasn't iced tea! I showed her the bottle!and she even had the courage to tell me that she stayed until 4 pm to make my bed since it was all wet! Maybe she should change jobs. To reception i give a 10! To the cleaning service unfortunately 5, just because the 1 st day my room was perfect. Nice to have a clean room at the arrival, but the hsk shouldn't forget that you are still there for 3 nights. Other than this it is a beautiful hotel, in the center of Menton. And with a little beach of rocks in front of the entrance. Breakfast to expensive so we did not buy it, but there are pasticcerie that are worth trying! I will go back one day.

"Nice stay"
Cricketdad, 18 Juin 2018

Three day weekend stay in the wonderful town of Menton. The hotel was good, room small, bed ok, didn't try breakfast as there were so many cafes and restaurants in the area. Caught the 110 bus from Nice airport - dropped off right outside the hotel. Just outside the town but a lovely 5 minute walk to the old town. Tres Bon!!

"Impressed"
Juno78, 18 Juin 2018

This hotel is a pleasure - warm and helpful service, spotless rooms which are well furnished and a good bathroom. The rooms overlooking the beach with a balcony have stunning sea views and its lovely to be able to step out of the room. The only comment I have in relation to the overall experience is that our mattress was way to soft for me but that's just a preference thing. Overall, we thought the hotel was excellent value.

"Wonderful hotel and staff"
Steve M, 10 Juin 2018

Stayed here for 3 nights but wish we could have stayed longer. This place was everything we hoped for, it was clean, comfortable and in a great location that was in close proximity to restaurants, beach, pâtisserie …etc. The view from our ocean facing room was fabulous. The balcony had a small table with two chairs that was perfect for having morning coffee or an evening glass of wine on (did I mention the view?). All hotel staff which we dealt with were professional and extremely helpful, especially Line and Lauria at the front desk who went out of their way to assist us with the many questions we had during our stay. Finding parking was also very easy. If you are looking for a really subtle, classy place that acts unpretentious then you can't go wrong staying here.

"Great hotel and service"
tuom01, 20 Mai 2018

We spent four honeymoon nights here with my wife and we were more than satisfied of the overall experience. We managed to get the room with best view so maybe you can ask that also :-) Ask transportation to Nice airport from the reception (approx 60 EUR). Big thanks to Jean-Baptiste from the reception for superb service and kindness. My wife was very happy to find Nuxe products from the bathroom! We recommend this hotel and will definitely come back in the future.

"Pretty great all round ..."
hilaryh33, 22 Avril 2018

We booked just a few days before travel as it was a spur of the moment thing and struggled to find a room in MonteCarlo. We were pleasantly surprised that the hotel was such good value, rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The staff at the desk were very helpful indeed and everyone was very friendly. My only complaint is that our room was on the ground floor and the balcony felt rather overlooked. I would definitely stay again but I'd ask for a sea view balcony on the third floor. Sadly for us the hotel was full and we couldn't change rooms but the reception would have moved us if it has been possible, of that I'm sure. Loved sunbathing on the balcony overlooking the sea even if it was a bit overlooked! Also the mini bar was topped up daily with complimentary soft drinks and water which is a kind gesture in this day and age. It is noisy from the street with the french doors open but once they're closed there is no traffic noise. We were going into MC to watch the ATP Rolex Masters. We found transport from here by the number 100 bus - it stopped just outside the hotel and while the road in was busy, busy (it takes about an hour to go the very short distance) it was very straightforward.

"Air conditioning "
ChrissyBabi, 21 Avril 2018

I am still here on day 4 of holiday and despite asking on day 1, as my friends have ,we have been advised that management will not turn on air conditioning for another week. The bed is really comfortable but I can't sleep due to the heat even if windows open (which means it's noisy). Come on reception turn the AC on!!! Listen to your guests it's 25 degrees!!

"Lovely hotel with a lovely view!"
sunnluvr, 21 Janvier 2018

We stayed here for 2 nights and were very happy with the hotel. We booked a room in the front of the hotel with a balcony and am so happy we did! The view from the balcony was beautiful and a great place to start the day with a coffee and end the day with a glass of wine. Staff was very helpful and friendly, and although room was a little on the small size, it was very comfortable for the short time we spent inside. Took the train from Menton to Monte Carlo as day trip which was easy and inexpensive! Would stay here again for sure!!!

"A nice stay."
TheRock2018, 21 Janvier 2018

I went to this hotel with my family only for a night. It is a beautiful building, the rooms are clean, comfortable and very well furnished. The staff is polite and professional. The receptionist perfectly speaks English, Italian and French. The only flaw is the very high price of the breakfast.

"Very Small Room"
amberlower, 10 Décembre 2017

This hotel has nothing fantastic or terrible about it, except the room was so small we couldn't fit our 2 carry-bags anywhere without tripping over them. The location is well out of the main/old centre on a main road and we had a mountain view which is probably more interesting than an ocean view, to me. Very neutral about this hotel. It was very basic.

"Great hotel"
mariecat61, 15 Novembre 2017

We had chosen a room with balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. Our room on the 3rd floor was on the small side but very functional and bright. Bathroom with shower was practical. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. We had breakfast on the terrasse in the morning and there were a good selection of food for everyone's taste. Drinks in the mini bar in the bedroom were free of charge (rather unusual). The only reason I did not give it a 5 stars is that the bed was very uncomfortable, the mattress needed to be replaced asap.

"Nice hotel"
Päkkänä P, 28 Octobre 2017

Hotel is nice and fancy decorated. We had a sea view room which is was more expensive that the mountain view. All sea view rooms have a direct scenery to the sea. I would not see mountain view as a bad choice either since there are not other houses blocking the view on that side either. Rooms are quite small to my liking. Mini bar was complimentary which is nice but unfortunately it is not too cool in a hot summer day. It is super easy to cross the roads and go to the beach. Otherwise the hotel is a bit far from the Menton city centre. It is a walking distance though and you can also walk by the seaside road which is full of small restaurants. A bus stop is very close by the hotel and that will take you to Monaco and Nice. It is very easy and cheap option to travel. Instead of staying over night in Monaco, stay here, and visit Monaco by bus. The city of Menton is worth of visiting as well.

"Very acceptable hotel"
123JaneG456, 19 Octobre 2017

Reception staff were very helpful and attentive. Room was clean but slightly on the small side. Breakfast selection was good. A 15 minute walk into the main area of restaurants and bars -not a problem if you are reasonably mobile as a good flat walk but be aware if you have mobility problems or the weather not good. Room wifi was good and free. Great view of the sea but might be noisy if you had the windows open as the sea front road is just in front of the hotel but to be fair I didn't notice it during sleep hours.

"Great location, great hotel!"
MelBarker, 19 Octobre 2017

Just back from a great break in Menton on the French Riviera! What a beautiful little town, just out of Monaco and close to the Italian border. We decided on the Best Westen Prince de Galle as our base for 5 days in Menton and what a great choice! Beautiful views of the ocean, walking distance along the beach from the city centre, the old town and loads of restaurants. The bus stop is only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and 15 minute scenic bus ride straight into Monaco and further if you wish. Great terrace for your morning coffee or afternoon cocktail. Staff are lovely, super friendly and always helpful! Good sized rooms, comfortable bed, compact but newly renovated and clean bathroom, cupboard space and in room safe. Getting to Menton from Nice Airport was super easy - train to Carnoles (station before Menton city) and a short walk down and along the beachfront to the hotel. Train ride is beautiful, right along the coast and through the little towns along the way. Recommend to purchase return tickets from the airport as Carnoles station isn't always open.

"Fantastic Stay"
SPB1231, 02 Octobre 2017

Absolutely fantastic hotel and stay, can't sing the praises of the staff highly enough. Really wish I'd made a note of the names of the two gentlemen on reception but they were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately I was not well when we visited and they really helped my husband with getting me medical care. Hotel was lovely, bed was really comfortable and location perfect. We had a sea view with a balcony looking over the water. Breakfast was self service continental, very good value for money. Cannot recommend this hotel and staff highly enough.

"Beautiful view of the sea."
John H, 02 Octobre 2017

Hotel and staff were very nice. They welcomed us and our chihuahua with open arms. The room was clean and well stocked. The view was 180 degrees of the Mediterranean Sea. It was convenient to everything and easy to find. Parking was limited to the roadside.

"short break"
OJG2013, 01 Octobre 2017

We stayed for 4 nights, and I thought that everything was spot on! The room was a decent size, clean, comfortable bedding, nice balcony with comfortable chairs, complementary water and soft drink every day from the minibar. Breakfast is very good. The staff is very helpful and friendly. There is parking at the hotel (paying/ you need to book), street parking is ok at night, but can be unreliable during daytime, and some areas there is a parking meter. I would recommend this hotel for its service and location. It is a 30 minutes walk into Menton and you can walk into Roquebrune as well. Although it is on the main road along the seafront, the windows are well insulated and you cannot hear the street noise when shut.

"Great location"
Tom I, 17 Septembre 2017

Lovely week stay at this hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and a great selection each day. Location is right on the sea front with lots of restaurants around. Would stay again!

"Great !"
Dafischer, 04 Août 2017

We received such great service from Jean ! He explained everything clearly and showed us we're everything was ! Explained parking for the motorcycle and the room was stunning ! With an amazing sea view free wifi and free mini bar ! Great hotel highly recommended

"Overpriced and Overrated"
Peter K, 23 Juillet 2017

We stayed in a 'Family' room - a double room with a single sofa-bed and a camp bed. There was barely enough room to get the beds in, never mind us and our luggage. The breakfast was OK but, again, overpriced for what it was. As part of our holiday we stayed in a budget hotel in Nice. It was difficult to see why this one was rated so much higher (the budget hotel was less than 40% of the price) with the ONLY advantage being the sea view. Menton is stunning but is a 20 minute walk along the front. If you are thinking of visiting Menton - do so, but stay nearer the centre in a cheaper hotel.

"My favorite holiday hotel"
Lasse_Andreassen, 20 Juillet 2017

Simply love this place. The best view available at the French Riviera if you go for a sea view room. Has become a bit expensive, but still worth every euro. Been here for at least 10 years now, and will continue to return.

"Fantastic restaurant and sea view"
Cato M, 06 Juillet 2017

Excellent restaurant and friendly staff. We got upgraded without asking. Nice reception and bar and a lovely restaurant in front of the hotel. Some traffic noise, but absolutely silent inside the room when the windows was closed.

"Disappointed"
FMommerency, 02 Juillet 2017

Normally is the Best Western Group a chain of good hotels. I stayed one night in probably the smallest room ever {213} I could not even open my suitcase properly and there was no space to put it aside somewhere The bathroom was okéy but cheap The best was too smalle for me (1,86 m) Breakfast was not okay too You had an express breakfast for 7 euro and a buffet for 14 euro We took the buffet We were sitting outside on the terrace but there was almost no space A couple was sitting 20 cm next to us - smoking... The hotel is also bad situated The old city, the harbour,... is completly the other side One good thing ? The staff was very friendly at the reception

"My Favorite city on the French Riviera"
Robert P, 28 Juin 2017

Room was clean, well appointed, a little small but how much time are you actually going to spend in the room with the beautiful surroundings. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend the hotel for its staff, location and amenities. We had an ocean view room.

"A Gem on the Mediterranean"
PeggyJane44, 18 Juin 2017

Our travel agent found this gem for us for a six day stay after our first reservations did not work out at another lodging. We were welcomed by a delightful receptionist Catherine, who spoke perfect English. She and the rest of their staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Our room faced the mountains, but there was an open courtyard facing the Sea with tables with umbrellas for their guests. Our son's room had a balcony with a wrought iron table and chairs. There was breakfast and a Michelin restaurant for lunch and dinner. We comfortably walked everywhere. Would highly recommend.

"Overlooking sea at west end of town, good hotel, very helpful staff"
Winklight, 14 Juin 2017

Room had everything required. Overall hotel is spacious and airy. Breakfast is good, and can be taken on the veranda (but take care with seagulls/pigeons!). Restaurant (fine dining) excellent with good range of wine. Centre of Menton is around 10 minutes walking away, although there are ATMs and a few shops nearby.

"Nice hotel, very nice location, good value for money"
marcfabian, 25 Mai 2017

We had a short stay here but the hotel is good value for money, great view, good location for jogging /going to the beach, we really enjoyed our stay. The only improvement could be some more diverse breakfast, otherwise all good, staff very friendly.

"Weekend in Costa Azzurra"
Giampa32, 24 Mai 2017

My girlfriend and I was in Menton 2 day for a quick weekend of relax. We changed our reservation originally planned for the end of April without any trouble, the Hotel has been completely available to try to help us. Structure very well located, important aspect offer parking at 10€ par day, parking is closed and his access protected by a security code. The position on the see is absolutely perfect, You can make breakfast with a wonderful view and reach the center of Menton in 10 min by walk. Room smart and fashion at the same time, suggest for the lady to take an hairdryer because is available a system useful for guess with short hair ( low power ). Room clean and Staff very well prepared and kind. Strongly suggested!

"Quality and Style"
Roger P, 23 Mai 2017

We enjoyed a very happy 3 night stay at this hotel. Well deserving it's 4 star rating, the establishment is compact without any sense of being confined and yet sufficiently generous in it's public areas. Very comfortable room with super king bed and fantastic views. Air conditioning was not obtrusive and mini bar (soft drinks) is included. Of particular note was the restaurant with an interesting and very well presented menu. The new Maitre D'Hotel is the personification of a top flight establishment and would doubtless be at home at the Garrick! We will return.

"Great hotel in Menton"
Ajaxied1957, 20 Mai 2017

This is what you look for in a**** hotel.Great location, clean, organized and friendly staff. The reception was great, immediately assisted with bringing the luggage from the car to the first floor reception area.Quick and organized check in.Room was superclean with some non alcoholic beverages in the mini bar, on the house. Took the large breakfast in the morning, which was great, large selection of items. Well worth the money. Thank you for a great stay.

"A bit overrated."
Stein J, 11 Mai 2017

Stayed here two nights in May 2017. We had a room without a balcony, that would have been a big disappointment if the weather had been better. Small room and nothing extra. The breakfast is ok. Cleaning ok.

"The place to visit every year"
gawlip, 10 Mai 2017

Visiting this hotel since 2009. Amaizing view from balcony at the sea side of the hotel. Rooms rather small but this year hotel ugraded to 4 stars. Sad that restaurant become worse and worse through years. There is same chef for years!?

"Fantastic view"
OlderGuy1956, 09 Mai 2017

We had a third floor sea view room here - absolutely wonderful, with a small balcony to sit on to enhance the experience. The room was a little small, but comfortable for all that. Pleasant staff and a decent breakfast for 13 euros enhanced the experience. Highly recommended.

"Perfect Location"
M7Power, 05 Mai 2017

Stayed here whilst on holiday away from the UK. Used it as a base to go daily into Monaco with my car. The hotel is situated directly on the main strip through Menton. Parking is at 10 Euros per day in their secure gated car park or free in the front. You will need to be quick as there are only 7 spaces there. The hotel is 7km from Monaco proper and about 3km from the Italian border. Well situated. Great access to the strip featuring many restaurants and eating places. Our room had a sea view facing balcony and provided amazing views and a great place to tan. The room itself is clean, well presented and the washroom facilities are equally favourable. The AC was a faff but not sure if it was centrally turned off! Breakfast was good and pretty much standard, if you're on the terrace, mind the oisseaux's. They had a few peoples brekkies! Service was super and all the staff lovely and friendly. Would stay here again!

"Pleasant Hotel"
Vicky S, 25 Avril 2017

This hotel is in a pleasant location by the sea in Menton and is very convenient for visiting the tennis in Monte-Carlo. There is a bus stop five minutes from the hotel - the 100 bus goes to Monte-Carlo and stops near the tournament. The interior of the hotel is modern and rather characterless but clean and light. My bedroom was small but had plenty of storage space and the fridge with free drinks was very welcome. The buffet breakfast was good and it was lovely sitting on the balcony in the sunshine. The restaurant was excellent and is highly recommended. The staff were generally pleasant and helpful.

"Very nice Hotel and convenient too!"
RL933, 02 Avril 2017

I recommend the "Best Western Hotel Prince de Galles" when booking your stay in this region. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, and windows that open to the street below, which for me is a definite plus to be able to sleep with an open window. The hotel's location is perfect and within an easy drive along the Mediterranean to visit Monaco, Eze, Nice and Cannes. Having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Mediterranean was such a pleasure every morning and I already wish I was back at the hotel. Just to note that there are a couple of stairs entering the hotel so there was a short lifting of our luggage to enter the hotel lobby. We travelled with family and booked two rooms.

"Ideal location for varied holiday"
Plowst, 29 Mars 2017

Stayed for a week holiday. Room with seaview and balcony which overlooks Promenade de Soleil. Some traffic during days but double glazed doors shut it out completely. Comfortable and very modern room with air con. Excellent bathroom and complimentary soft drinks in fridge. Staff very welcoming and enough speak English if you cannot manage the French. Two breakfast offers, full buffet or express in lounge area. We had this every day, very good value for tea/coffee with croissant and Pain au Chocolat. Location is on boundary between Menton and Roquebrume at the Monaco end of the town. A good walk into town which we enjoy. There are bus stops outside for the coastal route bus and the country villages on the other side of the hotel. We parked car on street without too much trouble but in high season I would expect it to be difficult. Hotel restaurant good, I review elsewhere.

"Lovely Hotel"
june_birchall1894, 21 Mars 2017

Lovely Hotel, Clean, Staff very helpful, lovely breakfast eaten on a verandah with a sea view. Easy to contact to Monaco & Nice by bus and Train, only downside is the buses stop at 9pm and the last train back from Monaco is 11.28 miss that and its a 55 euro taxi ride, it was in Marxh the times may be later in high season

"Good value, easy to get into Monaco"
DavesNotHereMan1800, 28 Janvier 2017

Stayed for one night, thought it was a lovely hotel. The front of house staff were very nice and ran through everything with us on arrival about the breakfast options and room. Didn't eat the breakfast, as I travelled on early. The bed was comfy and the room spacious enough for a couple, also with a pull out sofa bed which would be handy. If you're unfamiliar with the area, be careful if using googlemaps to get there as there is another best western in the area, so write down the street name to save yourself going to the wrong one! If you compare the price here to hotels in Monte Carlo - it's really quite cheap! You can get into Monte Carlo for about 5 euros on the train, or via taxi it's around 50/60 euros (depending where you're going to get dropped off) Hotel were happy to book us a taxi, who dropped us where we needed to be no problem!

"Lovely view"
Marian M, 25 Janvier 2017

We were upgraded to a family room for free as we had a dog which was nice. We paid for a mountain view room as opposed to the more expensive see view. But the view was still beautiful. It was a little bit further out of town so a bit of a walk hence the four as opposed to five stars. We also parked for free right outside the hotel. It was January though so I would imagine these spaces filled pretty quick in peak season. Menton itself was lovely. A real find.

"Just in front of the sea"

If you want to stay in Menton, this is a really good place to stay: the price versus the overall Hotel confornt and status is definitely positive. Rooms are just rifurbished and quite new. The "terrace" in front of the sea gives you a great place for a breakfast in the sun. The building is a pleasent old one. At the reception the young men was superb, really great great customer care!!! Be aware it is not in the center, it is pn the border with Roquebrune, but Mentone is small and center is easy to walk in 10 minutes

"Lovely hotel with an amazing view"
Sue R, 30 Octobre 2016

This is a lovely hotel with an unrivalled view of the sea. The staff were very welcoming and friendly as well as maintaining a high standard of professionalism. Our room had a balcony and was cleaned and maintained to a high standard. Breakfast was very good, plentiful with lots to choose from. The train station is about a 10 minute walk with very easy access to Monaco, Nice, Cannes and San Remo and a bus stops outside the hotel which goes into the old town. I would definitely return to this hotel and do not hesitate to recommend it if you want a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

"A memorable -all too brief-stay in an excellent hotel"
David F, 21 Octobre 2016

First class hotel, excellent facilities and friendly and generously helpful staff. Room was most comfortable and spacious and scrupulously maintained daily. Balcony with commanding views over the sea and along the Italian coastline. The lighter (express) breakfasts ) suited our needs perfectly and were always served in a most pleasant and polite manner. Hotel perfectly situated for access to Menton itself and public transport (buses outside the door) and Carnolès train station 10 minutes walk). A wide range of very good eating establishments close by including that of the excellent "Le petit prince" one in the hotel (though it is a separate concern) provided endless choice!

"Modern Hotel, beautiful view, far to city"
Philippe C, 18 Octobre 2016

I absolutely recommend this hotel. And i suggest to take a sea-view room, for example 304. Although the hotel is located very far from old city centre, you can get there in 30min by foot. Also the bus 18 can take you there from a stop near the hotel.

"Amazing location"
mejulie1958, 18 Octobre 2016

The hotel stood out when walking along the sea front, it was very grand, but very modern inside. The room were cosy, but had everything that you needed. A fridge was in the room with complimentary soft drinks. The shower was good and spacious. We had the express breakfast every day for 6€ which consisted of 2 crossiants, orange juice, tea one coffee which was plenty. Staff were exceptional, front desk were always happy to help with a smile. Would definitely return.

"Great value, great service "
ROSPOW, 29 Septembre 2016

Stayed for three nights. Good location - on the water (splurge for an ocean view, it's not that much more), 15 minute walk into central Menton and 10 minutes to the train station that'll take you anywhere along the coast. The service was excellent! The front desk staff and bartender in particular were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is extra, we spent the €13 one day and thought it was worth the money, esp. when you get to eat on the terrace overlooking the ocean. The dinner restaurant has very good food but I thought it was a little pricey for what you get. There are a lot of good reasonably priced restaurants on the waterfront a short walk into Menton. Very nice modern decor, and we had a nice sized room with a very large bed. The wifi was my only complaint - while free it was very weak. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel, its a great value.

"Great location with reception staff who were so polite and very helfful"
John S, 24 Septembre 2016

This hotel will take some beating for location and friendly staff. The hotel is situated on the front with good views of the Med. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. There is plenty of room. The mini bar has soft drinks which all included in the price. The shower is the best one I have been in with 3 showers in 1. The balcony has a table and chairs plus sun seats. You get superb views of Menton. Breakfast is served on the terrace. The restaurant on the ground floor is not part of the Hotel. We found the menu to be expensive. I would certainly come back to this Hotel. Brilliant stay

"Rooms are small, but a great location"
KjunCelt, 15 Septembre 2016

Close to Monaco and the Italian border. Room was a bit small, but a great view of the Med and a balcony. An older hotel, but it had everything and a great restaurant. The desk staff was very helpful and multilingual. Price was reasonable especially considering the location.

"Good base for Monaco"
Pedro-and-Kimbo, 26 Août 2016

We stayed 2 nights and took the train from Carnoles station (10 mins walk away and trains every half hour or so 2 stops into Monaco (around 12 mins journey) to explore Monaco). Our room was on the ground floor overlooking the restaurant but no noise penetrated the double glazed doors and super quiet aircon and a very comfortable bed meant a good night's sleep. Breakfast is a choice of 'express' at €6.50 for 2 croissant or pain au chocolate, orange and tea or coffee or €12.00 for the full buffet. Limited parking at the hotel so most is on street paid meter or free if in the right zone. We were there at the end of August, in the middle of holiday season and had to pay for just a few hours (€1/hour) before finding a place in the free parking zone.

"beautiful hotel and staff"
PJV61, 11 Août 2016

Stayed in 2013 for one night and was so impressed we are comming back for a week this October. Restaurant is excellent and all staff are very helpful, hotel is in a good location away from the main town but a short stroll away plus you have the sea views. really looking forward to returning this October.

"Very good accommodation -best restaurant in Menton"
Martin M, 01 Août 2016

Stayed two nights - first night ate in hotel restaurant - very good food and service. The rooms are quite spacious and air conditioned and well sound-proofed - the downside - seafront hotels have a road between them and the sea which is quite busy/noisy. When staying in Menton don't waste time looking for a good restaurant - we couldn't find one and wish we had stayed in the hotel!.

"Excellent staff"
IanInSouthport, 31 Juillet 2016

Every member of staff went out of their way to be helpful during our stay. The hotel is almost at the town limit so away from the main noise and has access to a smallish beach almost opposite. All soft drinks in our minibar were free and that was made clear without us having to ask. Breakfast was plentiful and eaten on the terrace at the front. Although smallish, our room was very pleasant and clean. Definitely somewhere I would go back to.

"Great location, great view!"
Bronwyn A, 21 Juillet 2016

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for 3 nights, we had a balcony room overlooking the ocean. It was just a short walk to have a swim, which we did often of course. The rooms have been updated and are clean and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and very helpful. It is just a short bus ride to Monaco, which is amazing. Le Petite Prince is a restaurant attached to the hotel and the chef is exceptional and our meals were delicious. The waiters are friendly and I must give a mention to Stefan who looked after us exceptionally well. We highly recommend this hotel for people who want to visit Monaco without the high price tag .

"Fantastic Stay"
Clare O, 19 Juillet 2016

Recently spent 3 nights in this wonderful Hotel situated on the waterfront. Rooms were very clean. Reception and Breakfast staff very friendly and helpful. We had a room with balcony overlooking the sea. Great swimming directly across the road. Only a short 10 minute bus ride from Monarco and Hotel prices are nearly half the price in Menton compared to Monarco. Restaurant attached to Hotel served fantastic food and the service from staff was also fantastic. Would strongly recommend you stay at Prince De Galles without any hesitation.

"Good friendly hote"
JaxnDave, 17 Juillet 2016

Great views and friendly service. Room small but clean, modern and comfortable. Hotel is located literally 10metres from the border of Roquebrune Saint Martin so a good 15 mins walk to Menton old town. Restaurant is good value but do check that booking made at reception does make its way to the restaurant. Great for motorbikes as a small private area is offered for parking off the road.

"Beautiful views"
Paullinda87, 16 Juillet 2016

Having booked a superior double room we were pretty confident we would have a comfortable room but very shocked on arrival to be shown to an extremely small dark room. More like a single room with a double bed in it! However after complaining we were offered another room but at a higher price. We had to spend one night in small room then moved into larger one. The bigger room was very nice, much more spacious and a sea view. The housekeeping and staff were great. Very clean and great facilities. Just be aware that superior double room does not mean LARGE! Slightly out of town so more peaceful, the walk into town is beautiful

"Best view"
Lasse_Andreassen, 13 Juillet 2016

Really love this place. Been back for many years, and always equally impressed by the location and view. Go for a sea view room with balcony. A bit expensive, but worth every euro. Its the perfect hotel to stay at if you wanna explore the French Riviera.

"jean baptiste, who works the front desk was amazing and helpful"
nick2b, 13 Juillet 2016

this hotel is ideally located, very comfortable, we stayed in a 3rd floor room with a balcony. the front desk was very accomodating, especially jean baptiste, who is multi lingual. you won't be disappointed if you stay there. nick barthel from santa cruz.

"Very nice and affordable hotel in this region"
Axelontour, 27 Juin 2016

The Prince de Galles is a clean and modern renovated hotel at the seafront of Menton. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. I had a room in the 4th floor with a wonderful sea view. Despite being close to the seafront road the noise level was ok. Breakfast was good in relation to what you get elsewhere in France. The staff is very friendly and outstanding helpful! The location is good as you drive approx. 15-20mins to Monaco, about the same time it takes to walk down to the old city of Menton which is absolutely worth a visit. All in all a perfect stay!

"Friendly welcoming hotel, great restaurant"
ECFC-Rustle, 17 Juin 2016

The hotel is on the very edge of Menton a gentle 25 minute stroll along the promenade from the town itself. The airport express bus 110 stops almost outside in both directions (the stop's name is Viking) and costs 33 euros return. Ticket vouchers can be bought online in advance but there is a ticket office at Nice airport and the price is the same. The bus driver scans the online voucher and issues a proper ticket, usually while driving along (and sorting out tickets while driving was a common feature of many of our bus trips!). As mentioned in another review there are about ten steps up to the reception area and no porters to help so make sure you can carry your cases! Reception staff are very helpful and friendly, speak good English and put up with my O level French very well. If I spoke in French they responded in French and appreciated my attempts, but they were happy to speak English if I was struggling. They always had an answer to all our queries. As a couple we booked a room for three with a balcony overlooking the sea, given the comments about small rooms, and although it was obviously more expensive it was well worthwhile with plenty of room. The third bed was folded up under the spacious and comfortable double bed so did not affect the available space. The balcony was a good size and we usually ate our breakfast there. There were three chairs, a table and two adjustable loungers. The hotel is on the sea front with a dual carriageway on the landward side and a road between the hotel and the sea (no beach by the hotel but a few rocks and pebbles below the promenade). The sea road is closed on Sundays but is quite busy during the day otherwise. It is quiet at night. Drivers are not as good as UK drivers at stopping at pedestrian crossings but someone always stops. They often seem to flash their headlights to let you know but in bright sunlight it is not always obvious. Otherwise they wave you across. The hotel restaurant is very, very good with a Michelin chef. It is not cheap but there is a daily menu of the day for around 25 euros for three courses (less for two courses with coffee, and drinks extra) and we would recommend that. Each evening there was a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian for the first two courses. When Stefan is on duty as head waiter the service is truly excellent. He was superb. Going in the opposite direction from Menton there is a nearby street with various shops including bakeries, greengrocers, a supermarket, post office, gift shops, restaurants, take-aways, and tourist information office. We bought our breakfast baguettes, fruit, delicious cakes and various other bits and pieces there. Bus trips cost 1.5 euros however far you go. Bus 100 to Nice, via Monaco, stops near the hotel and runs every 15 minutes or so. Be aware that this 'bendy bus' only has 37 seats with room for 135 standing. You'll be lucky to get a seat going towards Nice if you get on near the hotel so our advice is to catch a bus to the terminus in Menton and get on there if you want a seat. Buses often run late, but not always. The train station is slightly away from the town centre, best to get a map from the tourist information office or use Google maps to find it. Some of the trains are double deckers. There are fairly regular services to Monaco and Nice (and beyond). Plenty of places in the pedestrianised area in Menton to eat and loads of great ice cream places. A great hotel, we'll be going back.

"Good location, but not suitable for small children"
Emanuel F, 16 Juin 2016

Nice location (on the promenade, but not with beach area) and walking distance to restaurants & casino area (aprox 10mim walk). Close to Monaco as well (if traveling by car). We had a sea view room which was quite ok. Still, the room was very small and having the 2ys old with stroller with us (plus the additional luggage) made it quite difficult to walk within the room. Another downsize when traveling with small children (stroller users) is the (aparent) lack of any ramp/lift to get to the reception from the street (you have to carry it up the ~10 stairs). Nice staff also.

"A/c not cooling"
JankanHH, 08 Juin 2016

Its a nice hotel but being a Diamond member I would expect a better room. Most rooms have balcony but not ours. The room we had could not be any smaller there was not Place to move around. Internet connetion very slow if working. A/c did not cool the room we had 23,8 at 8 in the morning and when putting my termometer outside the window it was the same temperature. We did have dinner at their restaurant and that was nice. The room was 194 Euro and than I expect A/c to work. Its a long walk in to Town.

"Fabulous location and amazing views"
Dazzled1062, 05 Juin 2016

Four of us stayed here for 3 nights on our tour around Europe. The location right on the sea front is amazing. We booked rooms with sea views and it was great to wake up with a view of the Med. unfortunately the street outside is rather noisy otherwise we could have slept with the windows open. The rooms are quite small but adequate and very clean. We didn't eat any meals here as the choice in town is extensive and worth exploring. Secure parking was provided a short walk away. Special mention must go to the night receptionist who managed to get us a taxi to collect us from a restaurant in a nearby town. That place told us there were no taxis to get us back to our hotel and we were stuck there. Mr receptionist you came up trumps send are a star. Would I recommend Prince de Galles ?Yes I would.

"horrible breakfast ... decent room ... worth half of the stars"
G_Naselli, 02 Juin 2016

The main point is that you cannot serve a breakfast like that and get 4 starts Eggs for example are heated up from pre-cooked, so the colour of the scrambled egg is very flat and the taste is absolutely nothing. I had a room without a balcony for the same price of room with a balcony (?). The space is ok but the main problem is that road with the many cars passing up to late in the night. Finally, a good internet connectio? no way, I could use it abotu 20 mins for my entire stay (5 nights)

"A lovely little hotel"
SPN63, 28 Mai 2016

My colleague and I stayed in the Hotel Price de Galles for three nights. Our ocean-facing rooms were on the small side (which is often the case in France), but well appointed, clean and comfortable, and it was so wonderful that we could sleep with the balcony doors open, listening to the ocean. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and perfectly at ease speaking English. The centre of Menton is a good 20 minute walk from the hotel, but it's a pleasant walk along the water front, so no complaints. We found some good restaurants, but our favourite was Cote Sud. The railway station is very close (about a 10 minute walk) and the trains only take about 10 minutes to get you into Monaco. So this is a good location for those visiting the Principality. We liked this hotel very much and would stay again.

"Smart comfortable hotel"
Gordon P, 25 Mai 2016

Friendly service from this hotel. The room (street and hill view) was large and spacious with a very nice bathroom. We had been travelling and moving a lot and the weather was less than brilliant so the room and hotel worked out perfectly. The location wasn't at the heart of Menton, but that wasn't an issue. It was 20 minute walk from Menton railway station on one side and 10 minutes to the other station of the town. Amenities great. The breakfast was also good, if a little expensive. But it is the riviera! Overall, a good place of relaxing.

"Great hotel & restaurant in Menton"
Danelia E, 25 Mai 2016

Great location a short walk from city centre & shops/cafes. Awesome view of the ocean. Functional rooms. Paid extra for a balcony and, although we didn't sit outside, it was lovely having the doors open and the breeze coming in. Excellent restaurant and very good buffet breakfast. Recommended!

"Menton"
Ebrahim W, 13 Mai 2016

We had a room with a beautiful lake view. Our room was very clean and nice. Price was heigher than other Best Western hotels, which I was used to. However the clean and modern room made me fill good about the stay. Hotel was close to bus station. With Bus#100 we could drive for 1.5 Euro to Mnote Carlo, which is a must to see if you are in that area. The downside was the weak WiFi.

"Comfortable beach hotel"
Stephen100, 13 Mai 2016

Very welcoming and helpful front desk staff. Our room overlooked the sea. It was small and rather spartan, but clean, functional and comfortable (for UK readers think Premier Inn). My only complaint was the internet. It was pathetic in the room and so I had to go to the lobby if I wanted to use it seriously. The hotel is at the end of the Menton beach so a long walk from the better Menton restaurants. However one surprise is that the hotel restaurant (Le Petit Prince) is excellent and we had one of the best meals of our trip there. The website say free parking but this is only partially true. The hotel has half a dozen free places and it is sometime possible to park for free on the street, but many guests opted for secure parking at €5 per night. I know this because I spent a lot of time in the lobby using the internet! The is a good quality reasonably priced hotel best suited to a short stay of 2-3 days.

"Excellent in every way"
Judy M, 02 Mai 2016

Hotel is clean and well organized. Staff are polite and very helpful. Recommend booking room with sea view. Beautiful and restful. Location is perfect, convenient for beach and town. Highly recommended.

"Can't see Charles and Camilla staying here!"
jean k, 21 Avril 2016

Great start to our visit as young man, Jean Baptiste, on reception booked us in early and explained all facilities etc. of hotel in chirpy style. We paid an outrageous €160 on our first night as they had hiked the prices, (due to some tennis tournament in Monaco), for a very small room, sparsely decorated, no mini bar, dreadful "GLORIA" condensed milk for your tea and appallingly slow Wi Fi in the bedroom. We paid less for the second night, (tennis was over), but overall, not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. I think the introduction of a 5 star category in France has opened up a void and traditional 3 star hotels are now filling this. What really annoyed me? It was pouring with rain on our second day, I asked a bearded man on reception if they had hotel umbrellas and he told me to go to a cupboard, (did not get off his chair!), and when I took a brolly was told to put it back and to only take a mega cheap brolly in silver colour, I took two for us went to go outside and was asked my room number to make sure I returned these valuable objects!! Opened them up and one was broken, what a joke for a 4 star hotel that is not a 4 star hotel!! Also, told reception that the chambermaid had forgotten to put our complimentary bottles of water in the room only to be told you only get a complimentary bottle of water on your first night, what a joke. If I was you I would book nights individually, (it costs no more), have a newly serviced room every day, (that costs them too), and you get a cheap bottle of water for free, yippee. I know this sounds OTT but come on, why are they so silly? The hotel is on the edge of town so a LONG, and I mean long, walk to centre ville and restos etc. As a final note, all hotels in Menton hate the online booking sites but fail to realise we would have not booked this hotel without the ease of an online booking site that gave me the best price. In fact I am a fidelity cardholder of the Best Western group and booking through their official site was a lot more expensive than Booking.com, that is crazy. If not for Jean Baptiste it would have been 2 stars.

"Might be ok for holidays - a no-go for business"
Geneva2009, 07 Avril 2016

Double bed room was clean and fairly modern. TV was working one day (not the second one) - wifi also rather on/off which is really annoying. Bed very small (about 70 cm, it feels). Breakfast fairly standard - not much bio or alternative, but fills your belly... Car parking either on the street (if you are lucky) or in a (badly) protected enclosure about 100 m away. Staff has been too junior and little experienced (night staff, I guess) Personally I would look for alternatives...

"Nice, new and very clean"
valesera, 30 Mars 2016

We stayed here just for one night but the room was really nice, clean and newly renovated. Wi- fi works and in the room there is a teapot with soluble coffee and tea and also a couple of water bottle as a welcome gift. There is a bar fridge in the room but is empty. The room is a bit small and there is moquette that I don't like so much. Breakfast cost 12.50 € p/person. Maybe a little too much. In front of the hotel is possible to park, there are few parkings reserved for the hotel but if they are occupied you have to pay.

"Fell in love with Menton after staying here"
Cheryl073, 21 Février 2016

Everytime I look at this picture (that was our balcony), it takes me back to our fantastic stay at this hotel. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. We enjoyed their great breakfasts and could also order room service to enjoy on our balcony. Staff are warm and friendly, very helpful in assisting us to get around town. Bus stop to Monaco right across the street. They have renovated the rooms since I was there but from the pictures, it still looks great. North Americans have to remember that room sizes in Europe are much smaller than ours. If you remember that, you won't be disappointed. Love the elevator ride. Since my 1st stay, I've been back 4 times to Menton. Would always recommend this hotel for people to stay.

"An excellent hotel!"
Charles E, 12 Février 2016

It is difficult to speak too highly of this hotel. I have now stayed there twice, most recently for nearly three weeks. The setting is sublime, the facilities impeccable and nothing is too much trouble for the team.

"cozy bu very nice"
doug f, 02 Février 2016

we only stayed here one night as were passinfg through..we had a room with a queen size bed...the room was a bit snug but very well presented and the staff were vey heplfull and friendly...we're a bit tight with our money..so we got a deal on the room from one of those sites and decided not to pay for the breakfast but pop back into monaco early morning and make our own

"Best Beach Break"
cash d, 07 Janvier 2016

I had a girls week here with my mom in August 2015. We booked a seaview room and it was really spectacular. The rooms are very small and the bathrooms are minimal, but this was a beach break so I didn't really care. You are a bit of a walk away from the center of town, but there is a small beach right in front of the hotel that I definitely preferred. It was much quieter and laid back. It was also a minute dash over the road to the hotel in case you forgot anything. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and gave us a lot of helpful info about the area when checking-in. Wasn't too much in terms of breakfast or bar, but again we preferred to spend these times in town so this wasn't a problem for us and we didn't check out the hotel restaurant so that may have made the difference. Already booked for next year!

"Nice stay with views of the Cote D' Azur"
oceania64, 04 Janvier 2016

We stayed in the Prince de Galles in July. Our room was nice and the bathroom is spacious, well fitted out and very clean. The staff at the hotel are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good and the staff was accommodating and attentive. We ate at the restaurant in the garden one of the evenings we were there and the food was good and the menu had plenty of choice. The town centre is approximately a 2 km walk along the beachfront where you can discover lots of small shops and restaurants. In the evenings this is a pleasant walk and is great for building up your appetite. The location is also handy if you want to do a day trip to Monaco, you can drive there or catch the train from the Gare' De Menton which is approximately 1.5km from the hotel according to google maps. Parking seemed to be a bit of a lottery, there is free parking at the front of the hotel which is limited so sometimes we had to park around the corner at using paid street parking . We enjoyed our time at the Prince de Galles.

"Pleasant surprise "
Jose M, 25 Décembre 2015

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in December and it was a pleasant stay as we did not expected the to have the service from a 3* hotel. The location is really good within Menton and has access to the beach and sea front with plenty restaurants, shops, markets, public transport within walking distance including the train where you can hop in and go to Nice or Monaco. Menton is located about 20 minutes by car from Monaco and about 35 from Nice so is a good base if you want to visit this places without spending all your money in Monaco. The hotel rooms where clean, well renovated and they supplied with all the toiletries, our room had a really nice balcony with sea view where we had our breakfast enjoying the view. Overall I give top score to this hotel because is a very good standard (better than many 4*hotels) to be a 3* and has good location so it is very good value for money.

"What's not to like?"
chaslou, 06 Décembre 2015

Are you kidding? What more could you ask for? A nice hotel right on the water with a view of the sea right out your window. Excellent free wifi and breakfast. Clean updated room and very helpful and pleasant staff who really seem to enjoy their work. I booked two nights through Best Westerns web site which included breakfast and I think it was around $85 a night. A very good deal I thought. Wife loved it here as well. That's always a good thing :-) Also, was able to park for free right out in front of the hotel.

"Great sunrise wow!"
Monacodave, 08 Novembre 2015

Sea view rooms a must to appreciate the sunrise. Really enjoyed stay about a mile Walk to old town. Just right for a promenade walk. Very friendly team pre booked parking but found it wasn't needed in November.

"Perfectly Satisfactory"
ualu2, 30 Octobre 2015

A good room, in a good location, with good staff, good parking, good free wifi, and good breakfast. Great view from seaside room with small balcony. You can cross the street and swim, not a great beach but nice for an early morning dip. Everything was nearly flawlessly good, just not fantastic, and exceeded expectations. Would definitely stay again.

"If you want your hotel room breaking into then this is the hotel for you"
roderick l, 21 Octobre 2015

woke up at 3 am to find a man on our 2nd floor balcony, managed to scare him off, called night porter who was running around with a baseball bat in his hand.Problem is ,is that the fire escape goes out onto the street and gives access to the balconiesA foreseeable risk.Must be a problem as police have increased patrols to this hotel.Have informed hotel manager but limited response,a bit head in the sand. I would seriously advise people to think before going here ,they have a problem, shame hotels not bad

"Pleasant surprise"
Horea23, 13 Octobre 2015

We found the hotel to exceed our expectations. Everything was well appointed and the staff was extremly friendly and helpful. The hotel is just accross the road from the sea and the bus 110 from the airport droped us just meters away, which made the car absolutely not necessary for a short stay such as ours (especially that there were a lot of things to do and see within walking distance). For a longer stay, a car is advisable as the public transport is sometimes erratic to some of the interesting nearby towns. WiFi could be better, but it was free, at least. We had booked last minute a standard room with a mountain view, but we got a free upgrade, to a larger mountain view room. I would definitely go back again, but would book a sea view room as the view is just amazing (and the mountain view room is actually a room overlooking a busy back street).

"Lovely hotel with very helpful staff"
Will H, 21 Septembre 2015

We stayed here for 3 nights in September and had a wonderful time. We had a sea view room with balcony. The room was modern and clean at all times and although it was on the seafront, we could not hear the traffic at night. Lovely buffet breakfast and the staff could not have been more helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

"Menton - July 2015"
David S, 20 Septembre 2015

Great hotel, great location, all round excellent. We stayed in Menton as the cheaper alternative to Monte Carlo - being at the eastern end of Menton it was was a very quick trip into the principality. The hotel was right on the sea front so it was just a quick walk across the road onto the beach. The resort and hotel had an old world feeling that just added to the stay. It was a good walk up to the town centre - approx 15 mins - but was worth it to go to the restaurants either side of the casino. There was a good range of shops in the town so it is worth a look around. The hotel was very clean but from an English persons perspective there was no kettle in the room, but the bar staff were more than happy to fill up a flask to make a cup of tea in the room.

"Wonderful hotel."
fhdsjgduzfgruzehdjfg, 19 Septembre 2015

Wonderful hotel, directly on the coast of the beautiful town menton. The rooms are not soo big but they are very beautiful. The employes are all really friendly and there is free wifi in the whole hotel area. The restaurant is also very good!

"Lovely place with excellent staff"
flossybossy, 17 Septembre 2015

We stayed here for two nights and were very impressed with everything including the staff, who could not be more helpful. Our only niggle was it it was slightly out of town but still a lovely walk along the promenade.

"Little Monaco"
bw409845, 16 Septembre 2015

Prince de Galles is delightfully situated on the shores of the Mediterranean close to the Italian border. Reception and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and good value for money. The balcony overlooking the beach was a little small but the view was fantastic, covering the whole of the shore line around the bay. Restaurant associated with the hotel was very good and at time very busy, definitely recommend booking not to be disappointed

"Surprisingly nice rooms"

I did not have high expectations for this hotel and did not read any reviews prior to booking. I was surprised by how nice and spacious our room was and would recommend this hotel for an affordable stay in the area.

"Great Summer Holiday"

Really lovely staff, great service, room comfortable and very clean with crisp modern decor. Breakfast excellent; views wonderful. Location unbeatable for sunshine and access to sea (10yards) and town (half mile).

"My stay for 1 week from 11th August"

After an exhausting train journey from London( my son doesn't fly ) we arrived late evening and were greeted by a very grumpy middle aged man at reception who quickly dismissed our request that the dining area was still open.First impressions are so important.Replace him with the charming day time staff who were excellent.

"Excellent stay "

We stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a road trip and spent the whole time saying we wish we had booked for 2 nights. It all seemed recently refurbished. We arrived very early but they were able to give us one of our rooms as we had two booked and also upgraded that room to one with a balcony facing the sea which was perfect. We spent most of our evening sat there enjoying the view. The rooms were nice, very clean and modern. Its very easy to get public transport in to Monte Carlo. The bus stop was close but we chose to walk along he sea front (which was stunning) to the train station which was a fair 20 minutes but with lovely surroundings. The staff were so helpful during our stay and the wifi was great. If I return to Menton I will definitely be staying here and I would recommend it to anyone.

"Very nice hotel !"

Very nice hotel located close to the sea. Clean and new rooms, a little small but functional. Very nice staff, gave me a towel for the beach. Free wifi. A very relaxing place where you see only smiling faces, felt almost like on holidays even if this was a business trip !

"Decent but mediocre"
K8tieScott, 27 Juillet 2015

We imagined the former summer residence of Prince Antonio I of Monaco to be somewhat grander so were slightly disappointed when we arrived. Our room was decent and clean but extremely small and lacked character. The hotel is not too far from the main train station and slightly out of the bustle of the old town where most of the restaurants and shops are. It is a nice walk to town, approx. 30 minutes with beach-side bars and restaurants about 10-15 minutes away, otherwise there is a bus. The bus to Nice airport stops across the road from the hotel which was very convenient. There are some nice (but pebbled) beaches directly across the road from the hotel and others within walking distance.

"Don't accept Room 409!"
ExecMomx2, 08 Juillet 2015

Single mom traveling with two kids and booked an ocean view room with private balcony for 3 people several months in advance for a week in late June. My request for an upper floor, quiet room was not honored and instead we were put in a room right off the lobby overlooking the outdoor dining and lounge area with a view of the sea beyond somewhat obstructed by a large palm tree. After seeing the room I asked to be moved to another room but was told they were fully booked. Not sure when those guests made their reservations, but apparently more than 4 months in advance isn't sufficient. The room had not been renovated and in addition to being quite dated, was rather small. It was also very noisy due partially to the close proximity to the street but also to the even closer diners just a few feet away as well as the hotel staff who moved tables and chairs constantly and talked loudly near our room from early in the morning to late at night. Then there was the total lack of privacy from our balcony which could only be enjoyed for the few hours when there weren't people in the restaurant or outdoor lounge area staring right at you. My other complaints had to do with the less than helpful down to outright hateful staff (with the exception of Jean Baptiste!) as well as the distance from town and all of the restaurants and shops. I have mobility issues and when told upon our late evening check-in to just walk a few minutes toward town for something to eat, didn't return to the hotel for more than an hour - and without any food. Fortunately for my daughter I had a Cliff bar hiding in my shoulder bag, although why the lobby bartender didn't share the limited lobby bar menu with me at the outset was a mystery. Another good thing is that Voltaren pain gel for my painful and swollen knees is sold over the counter in France! As for the hotel, on the positive side, it is only about a 15 minute walk to the Carnoles train station so as long as the trains aren't on strike (which they were while we were there) you can use the train to travel to other places along both the French and Italian Riviera - which we did after the strike was over - and I highly recommend! However, I would not stay at this hotel again given the attitude of the hotel staff and the disappointing experience we had overall with the room and the distance from the main part of town and beaches.

"Room with a view"
June l, 29 Avril 2015

Choose this hotel especially for the balcony and sea view. Lovely Hotel , Room very small. Comfortable, so adequate. There was lots of free car parking around the Hotel. Quite a walk to the town centre . Tea tray available for your room but items were not replenished neither was the water . Some good restaurants locally but again quite a walk. Found a great bar that did a happy hour which came with a delicious plate of meat , cheese and bread.

"What a Deal!"

While traveling in France in October, 2014, we were fortunate enough to spend three nights on the French Riviera at the Best Western Hotel Prince De Galles in Menton, France, where the Maritime Alps come right down to the sea. We had a room with a balcony with a 180 degree view overlooking, and across the street from, the Mediterranean for about $160 a night, amazing. From check-in through checkout, the staff was friendly and helpful. It appeared that the entire hotel had recently been updated. As a result, our room was very modern, comfortable, well equipped (a safe, refrigerator, and free Wi-Fi), and efficiently organized (especially the ensuite bathroom). The insulated glass doors to our balcony allowed us to enjoy the view while effectively masking the street noise from below. And, the room a/c allowed us to really be comfortable with the unseasonably warm weather we had. The "mini express" continental breakfast of juice, two fresh pastries, and a pot of coffee, all for about $8, was a great way to start the day. Fresh squeezed juice would have made it perfect. And, the free, park-it-yourself parking right outside the hotel was a huge feature, even with the musical chairs aspect of finding a space sometimes. With it's proximity to incredibly picturesque coastal villages like Sainte-Agnes, the glitz of Monte Carlo and Monaco, and the two star Michelin restaurant Mirazur, the hotel's location is ideal for experiencing the French Riviera, as well as neighboring Italy. All in all, we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

"nice hotel"
Michelle T, 30 Juin 2014

A nice hotel, the only drawback was the room was too hot to sleep comfortably. Nice staff and location. The breakfast was very good. They offer free parking which was what I needed. You can walk out the back of hotel and cross the street and you are on next to the water. Enjoyed walking along the water.
