« Terrible place to stay. »

I came at 3am off an overnight bus trying to test my Diamond status to see if by chance I could check in 12 hours early. No deal. That's fine, didn't expect much (night staff was really nice, mind you). Reception told me I could come back at 11 and get my room. I showed up at 2pm after sleeping my way up the beautiful views of various mountain sides and was told my room was ready. I was staying with a friend and had requested a single queen room with a rollaway bed (instead of 2 singles) because I wanted a longer bed. I waited 30 minutes to check in even though I was told i could check in hours earlier and was finally brought to a room with 1 queen that was dirty and no rollaway bed. They mentioned I could have the 3 bed room instead which was 3 singles put randomly in a room and was still not made so I declined. The only other option I had was a 2 single bed room that had no kitchen, a massive downgrade. This room had no sound insulation and was therefore incredibly loud given its location. (It's on a hill at a busy intersection so you get all the revving of cars coming up). The breakfast was fine, I didn't expect much from a Best Western. Stale bread, possibly powdered eggs, and some sausage and cheese. Best part of this hotel? Large colourful Spanish architecture and transportation books in the lobby. This isn't the most walkable location for being in Poblado, I wouldn't recommend staying here. All in all, I've stayed in a plethora of Best Westerns and have realized their loyalty program is based on hotel discretion which is always never. I'll stop staying here from now on.

« Pleasant staff, OK hotel »

I visited Medellin for business and stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The staff was extremely pleasant and rooms spacious although not that clean from one day to another. I ordered breakfast in the room, it sounded much better over the phone... the first day they forgot the spoon and the second the knife. Bed was OK and pillows very big in width, to the point that I was really uncomfortable. Unfortunately they did not have any other types. They also forgot to replace the soup. Wifi was excellent. Not sure I will come back to this hotel.

    « Substance Over Style »

The value can be very good. Be sure to shop around for a good deal. The 40+sqm room is much better than the 30+ sqm room. The place isn't the most stylish but if you can get past that, this hotel is very good. The internet also was good and that can be a problem at other hotels. The big negative here is the location. Its on top of a big hill. Even walking down the steep hill caused my ankles to be a bit soar. Walking up is quite the climb. If you are not in good shape and like to walk, I would not pick this. But if you are looking for a good value, good service, I think this can be a very safe choice.

« Fantastic staff, okay property »

First thing, the staff is great. They go out of their way to be helpful and they are very friendly. We paid about $87 USD per night for our room. The room was large, nice living quarters and great view of the mountains from the balcony. Bathroom and shower large, good size kitchenette with microwave, small fridge and breakfast bar with two seats. Lot of street noise from vehicles on the street below. We were on what was equivalent to the third floor (Room 303), but actually the lobby and breakfast room floor. Road construction began early in the morning, jackhammers. Room change might have lessened vehicle noise, but not construction noise. Obviously, not something under the control of the hotel, but took a little luster off of our stay. No "blackout curtains," just sheer drapes let early morning sunlight and streetlamp light in, and possibly allow the residents in the apartment building across the street to see into your room. Breakfast was substantial, but often cold. My companion tried some kiwi slices, but they were hard, not ripe. My companion and I both found the platform bed with mattress to be borderline uncomfortable. But I have slept on worse in higher priced hotels. If I had to recommend this hotel, it would be for the staff, the views of the mountains and the fact they do not charge an added fee that seemed to average about $25, but can be as much as $38 for a second person to stay in the room. Every other hotel my lady and I researched charged a $25 fee for us to stay in the same room together. The Intercontinental's fee was $38. I don't know if that is common in South America or other countries, but I never had experienced it. You are about 20-30 minutes from the downtown area. Taxi fares will range from approximately $6 USD to maybe $10 USD, including tip, to get to the downtown area. Unless you know the specific route to where you want to go, it seems the drivers will take you the longest route possible. We had at least one driver who would slow down as he approached a green traffic signal, apparently hoping it would change to red before we got to it. Of course, the meter continues to run, even at a red traffic signal. Be prepared for very aggressive drivers, lots of motor scooters and a lot of traffic. We visited friends of my lady, but the Saturday night were there, we at Basilica. The food was excellent, the drinks were good, the wait staff very professional and attentive, without bothering you, and the prices were very reasonable. Be aware that, if you go downtown, you will be besieged by street vendors. Don't be shocked by the numbers of the homeless living on the streets. We observed one young man urinating by a tree near the Bolero Park and Museum Antioquia. Not shocking, but a bit upsetting. Hope this helps and I haven't been too wordy.

    « Not a good stay... »

I stayed with my wife and mother for 3 days. It was not a pleasant expereince. The plumbing is terrible and my shower over flowed. I was a taking a normal shower and the water into the room and hallway. Breakfast is nothing special. Lastly, they could not figure out how to use a Best Western gift card. They tried to tell me that they did not accept them but after arguing and them trying for 20 minutes, finally it went through. Location was great. Will not stay here again.

« Great place to stay and explore Medellin from! »

We recently stayed for 6 nights here and it was a welcome relief after 4 weeks of travel through the rustic coastline of Ecuador. A very nice home base to explore Medellin and close enough to the trendy area of Poblado to get a variety of decent meals and a change from farmed shrimp and deep fried patacones that we were subject to to on the coast. I really enjoyed watchng the Hummingbirds and other aves at the balconies across the way during breakfast. I would avoid eating at the restaurant at other times though. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort and care, they even sent two doctors to our room at no cost when my wife was sick. Amazing! The staff was helpful, and very polite in a Paisa way. We would stay here again if we return to this interesting and developing city. Thank you Best Western Sky for a fabulous visit.

    « Amazing Hotel »

Very good hotel for the price, it is new, good location, very friendly staff, actually Colombian people are so friendly, they do all that they can to help you, good breakfast, you can always trust the international standards of Best Western, good quality and service every where.
