    « OK for a short stay »

Comfortable bed and very friendly staff are the upside. Downside is the lack of parking (its quite hard to find somewhere nearby to park even out of the busy season), little bit dated ... the bedroom was ok but the bathroom very tiny and shower not very good. Public areas downstairs fine but corridors and stairwells very in need of a bit of tlc. We thought breakfast was included and that was our downfall . . we had to leave the hotel each day by 7.30 am so just grabbed and orange juice and croissant only to be charged 60 euros for breakfast when leaving!

    « Bad management »

Have 3 rooms for smokers end they give me one of those rooms... and I never smoke. They do not care, they do not ask. The room smells horible. Bad room, bad management. I can't give 0 rating so I rated 1.

« Ideal stay durig Tomorrowland »

Nice small hotel ideally located between Antwerpen and Brussels, and close to Tomorrowland in Boom. 24 hour service and very friendly and helpful reception. Nice breakfast. Located right next to the canal.

    « Good Hotel »

My wife and I stayed here two nights. The main room and bathroom were very spacious. Unfortunately, the beds were not very comfortable for either of us. The air conditioning was difficult to control and the room was either too hot or too cold. The breakfast was a bit disappointing and no baguette bread was available. Parking is a problem at this hotel. The free parking is three blocks away and a bit of a challenge to get to. While there is what amounts to a 15 minute "loading zone" in front of the hotel, that restriction is not enforced and it was difficult to load our luggage on our day of departure. We had to park across the street from the hotel and park in a no parking area in front of someone's garage door. I would not stay here again.

« Excellent service, hotel is a little bit dated but clean and very well located.? »

?When you receive your confirmation you will get a different adress then the one you have to put in the GPS. The correct adress can be found on the site of the hotel. The hotel is surely a bit dated for its 4 stars, the room is small and so is the bathroom, the bed is very soft and the pillows are too high, but the kindness of the people there made us enjoy our stay and we will certainly return for a stay, even if I am taking my own pillow next time. ?The people at the reception were extremely friendly and the offered us a lot of extra information in the area. There are parking spots around the hotel and even a few private spots for guests. We left the car there and went to for a walk in the city center which is very near.

« Excellent place to sleep in Mechelen »

After a Christmas evening with our children, we slept in the Gulden Anker last night. We know the place and the quality of service remains at a high level. The room is not specially luxurious but perfectly clean and the beds are very long and comfortable. The temperature in the bathroom was perfect. Buffet breakfast is perfect with much choice. Just the place to be, if you want high level comfort, perfect welcome and many amenities. The WiFi worked well in the room.

    « Nice hotel »

We stayed here for one night - a Friday. Arrival into Mechelen was by train and it took us about 20'minutes to walk to the Gulden Anker. Our room was on the ground floor - near to reception. It was tastefully decorated. However, there was some noise from reception and other guests. WiFi was free and worked well. Breakfast the following morning was good with a nice selection of hot and cold items. All the staff we encountered spoke English. It took us about ten minutes to walk from the hotel into central Mechelen.

« Not bad but a bit "characterful" »

Not bad but not 4 star. I came by car and discovered that the parking is on street which the web site doesn't mention. Also experienced the crazy road junction outside the hotel. When sitting in the restaurant I noticed the statue of a nubile naked young lady in the middle of the junction. I'm surprised anyone gets through it alive ! The room was nice enough with a view over the canal but there was an odd drains smell pervading the corridors. I was also lucky enough to be propositioned by a large and drunk Belgian lady in the restaurant which enlivened things a bit ?( I declined her offer)

    « A warm atmosphere »

I can't pinpoint exactly what made this hotel feel so welcoming. I'll just give a list of small details that stood out as signs of attention from the staff: - the reception was truly helpful - the lovely lady that mantained a spotless breakfast buffet - with the brisk manners and efficiency; in the first day I asked for a bigger glass (I drink a lot of fresh orange juice mixed with water in the morning) - and she placed one near the juicemaker the next morning when she saw me arrive - the restaurant view is towards a crossroad - and peoplewatching (biker-watching actually) was mesmerizing - soft beds, comfy pillows, nice furniture, fast wi-fi The room had the slight smell of being smoked in; but it really looked good and it didn't disturb me enough to ask for another one. I came to Mechelen by train and chose this hotel because, from the trains station to it's location - it had the simplest route. It was a lucky choice: if I opted for a more central hotel - I would have had to watch my troller's wheels diminish (the other roads are paved but from the train station to the hotel I found a smooth one and the distance can be walked in 15 minutes). It's located at the margins of the historical centre and the road to the Central Market is lovely. It's quiet but busy. You'll understand this only if your familiar with the bike-life-style so popular in this area: no noise, just people. No spectacular view - you have to walk outside for it: I loved Mechelen. The buildings, people, views and the fact that it felt safe to walk it's streets at 11 in the night.. I didn't feel the same in Brussels so I'm really considering to stay here for my next business trip - instead of Bruxelles, even if it's not time efficient.

    « Excellent »

This hotel was prebooked as part of our cycle tour. We stayed 1 night. The hotel reception staff were brilliant. We were late arriving and didn't want to go out to eat. We asked if ok to bring in a Chinese takeaway, this was no problem. We sat in the patio area and staff were very obliging and looked after us really well. Hotel room very comfortable, clean and had all we needed. Would recommend this Hotel.

« simpel cheap hotel in mechelen »

the hotel has reasonable facilities, bed is from poor quality, matrasse was not good. Shower is not working very good. But compared to the price it is all ok. the breakfest is only till 9:30 in the morning and they start to clear out the breakfest at 9:20 allready. parkingplace is arranged in the neighbourhoud and for free, which is very good.

    « Nice stay »

Stayed here for 1 night at very short notice, check in was great with the staff member being very helpful, breakfast was excellent and the price was also nice and acceptable, would recommend for a short stay.

    « Good location »

The hotel is next to an entertaining intersection! it is the most illogical thing I've seen so far. bikes and cars gets jammed if they follow the rules :-) The hotel itself has 4 stars - which is a bit steep. the hotel bears many signs of wear and aging - the Internet is Ok but unnecessarily complicated to get started. If you have Business in Mechelen then this hotel are usable.
