"Could easy be a four star"
twysted2015, 21 Mars 2024

Lovely staff, neat location, loved the vibe, room was clean and checkin was quick. Toilet was broken, and all the phones in the building didn't work. Made the morning a bit unsettled. Pool and rooftop looked great. Could easily be a four star as soon as they get some things fixed.

"Great stay at the Posada Freeman"
B5524KEjuliem, 18 Janvier 2024

We choose to stay at the Posada Freeman in the historic center for two reasons, proximity to the historic center and second the view from this hotel is AMAZING. The hotel staff were wonderful. We booked two king bedrooms that had views of the ocean and the historic center. This hotel is walking distance to everything in the historic center and el Centro with great restaurants and boutique shops.

"Great clean beautiful view friendly staff . Very accommodating"
compactleo, 11 Janvier 2024

Our flight was canceled so we had a week delay . This place was amazing , clean a great view . Great food . We were very stressed due to the long delay we had to encounter as we were ready to go home after already spending a month here

"old town mazatlan"
donshaw2024, 11 Janvier 2024

was clean with great views from the roof top great place to tour old town from but was a long walk to the golden zone alittle too far and no buses would probably stay mor central next time room was clean but on the small size but worked out ok

"fun vacation"
rodnglo, 16 Avril 2023

old charm hotel with hotel staff dedicated to provide above average service. Location in historical center provides walking distance to numerous restaurants and bars with live entertainment.. The Mazatlán Malecon out front is great for walking, and biking

"Beautiful view, service with an attitude. Best Western you can do better."
Marianne E, 26 Mars 2023

Beautiful view from the rooftop and bar. Lousy service with an attitude. Not once, but both times we went. With the amazing view, the restaurant and bar should be busy, but it was not. Both times they claimed we could not use a credit card, but the desk said they could. No Pacifico beer both visits, in Mazatlán where it's made?...ok. Music was so loud we could hardly talk to the others at our table, when we asked if they could lower the music, the bartender gave me a flat out "No". It's a shame, the view and ambiance is lovely.

"Stay away"
Petclerk, 24 Mars 2023

Restaurants and swimming pool are accessible only b climbing flights of stairs. This makes it unusable for those with difficulty climbing stairs. The desk clerk was very unhelpful on information regarding the area! We accidentally left 3 nice mens shirts in the closet and they “disappeared”. I do not recommend this Hotel.

"Great view, terrible noise."
D M, 20 Mars 2023

We thought we would give this location a try as it is at one end of the boardwalk. The food and staff service was good, and the rooftop pool was nice, but the noise level from the street really took away from the entire experience. It was like trying to sleep in the center of a party until 3am. The rooms are very cramped, the beds and pillows are very hard. The Wi-Fi is slow as well. There are definitely better hotels.

"Fake pet friendly hotel"
David S, 26 Décembre 2022

We traveled for 1 hour to this hotel because Apple Maps said this was pet friendly. Once we arrived at the front desk, they rejected us even if we have paperwork for the service dog. Shame on all the management team.

"Hotel with phenomenal location and view."
Go788071, 24 Décembre 2022

We had a suite, which was overall very nice. Our room had a balcony right on the water with views up and down the coast. Absolutely unbeatable. Location was very convenient--close to restaurants and Centro Historico. Overall, it was a great stay, but.....one of the two bathrooms had a stinky sewer smell the whole time. Also, the lighting in both bathrooms was extremely dim and there was a problem with the toilet seat in one bathroom. I would go back but I'd have to prepare myself to overlook some of the problems.

"Excellent location ( great team at front desk No housekeeping"
thefloridien, 24 Août 2022

Everything almost is great at this hotel but the best is the location Breakfast team excellent service Front desk excellent service Room service is ok Housekeeping is terrible we stayed there 5 nights room avec barely cleaned and housekeeping just does not care at all Great team over all ( except housekeeping ) But we received very nice attention from front desk team

"Service with an attitude."
kevinkR7460ES, 07 Août 2022

Positives. Water was hot., maid was lovely And the location was great. Negatives. First impression was a miserable face and a non caring attitude our room was very small and dated. Towels where threadbare and in short supply especially at pool. The breakfast I heard great things about but it was very poor, Very Poor. Of the 4 mornings breakfasts we were offered we only took one as we couldn't face that again. Window in washroom wouldn't close so a waste of air conditioning. Parking very limited. Drinks seemed watered down in bar. We will return to Mazatlán but definitely not this place.

"Lovely old hotel"
happycamperSt_Albert, 17 Mars 2022

The Freeman is right on the Malecon so is in the centre of everything going on in town. That can make it quite noisy at night with all the revelry going on outside but that is made up for by the fact that you get to experience the local events. Breakfast is included with the room and is substantial with either a buffet or special orders. Rooms vary in size and views. We prefer the front ocean and Malecon view with a room in the centre rather than the corner room which is smaller. They also have suites with kitchens and sitting rooms if you want more space. Ocean view rooms have 2 double beds, king beds are in city View rooms at the back, not sure why. The hotel was built in 1944 and retains the charm of the era in a very old and lovely part of Centro, close to everything. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. There is a bar at the top of the building which attracts a lot of people to watch the sunset in the evening. On the roof is a pool with bar service which we didn't use because it was too cold when we were there.

"Best Location, Views, and Service in the Centro Histórico"
jill l, 09 Mars 2022

I return again and again to this property because there is no other hotel in Mazatlán that provides a vacation experience that offers the centro histórico just a few steps away and a beach right out front. It offers the best location, sunsets, and breakfasts one could possibly imagine. The management and staff are warm and welcoming and customer satisfaction is their number one priority.

"Fantastic location, beautiful views"
DreaminOfAdventure, 05 Février 2022

We love Centro and the location on Olas Atlas and views were wonderful. An unexpected hurricane arrived on our second day and lost Internet, tv, and area restaurants shut down. But no major damage in our area and the hotel staff was wonderful and the restaurant was open which was very appreciated. We loved the rooftop pool. Housekeeping was good, but inconsistent with towel service. Which feels petty to mention, but it was kind of funny. We might get 6 large towels and 1 washcloth or 2 large towels and 4 hand towels. Not a big deal and were pretty responsive with needs. A/C solid and balcony wonderful. No refrigerator or coffee in the room, but breakfast is included each morning. Walking distance to so many things and Centro is my favorite and just beautiful. We're coming back for a few days in March. Looking forward to it.

"Great Hotel !"
Colorado5689, 30 Octobre 2021

A great hotel in the Centro district. The lobby is clean and bright. The check in staff are friendly and willing to answer any question you might have. A staff member is always on hand wiping down surfaces and cleaning the large glass windows that over look the ocean. The morning breakfast has several traditional mexican options, each one better then the last. The lady that serves you speaks no english but is very friendly (We tipped her well on our last day for putting up with us). Our room, 808 was the standard "city view" room. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, the a/c works and there was no city noise. I would caution you about reserving a ocean view room as the road in front of the hotel can get noisy. The rooftop pool is small but great for relaxing with a drink. We watched the sunset from here as well, the views are amazing. We are very pleased with our stay at the Posada Freeman and would stay again.

"Nice place"
mickeperez, 20 Septembre 2021

Historic, well located place . Warm people . It was no to much people at that moment so for us was perfect. Pool service kind slow not too proactive but workers are friendly. Over all we were satisfied.

"Best experience"
ogjflo, 24 Août 2021

The views from pool area are breathtaking. Everything is clean and breakfast was delicious. It was near the faro and walking distance to most sights. I felt safe and have an overall wonderful experience

"Great location, reasonably priced with friendly and helpful staff."
Fearless55122719533, 01 Août 2021

We had a wonderful stay here thanks to the friendly and helpful staff serving us like restaurant manager Christian and pool bartender Juan. The location is great near many great places to eat. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Mazatlán.

"Perfect location"
andycg03, 06 Mai 2021

The hotel is in the perfect spot of downtown. The lobby was always clean and quiet, the views are great. We had an ocean view room, perfect for photos, the room was so clean. They have a rooftop bar and it's a perfect spot to see the sunset.

"Well worht the reservation"
Joseph P, 13 Novembre 2020

The room rates are well worth the amenities: terrific location, extremely friendly staff, front desk women speak terrific English, relaxing rooftop pool, incredible views, excellent breakfast included, balconies over looking the ocean. I've come here twice and will continue to.

"Amazing Location, Comfortable Stay"
sayurinpoche, 18 Mars 2020

Booked for a night as my Airbnb didn't work out as expected. The hotel is one of the oldest in the city of Mazatlan. The general atmosphere reminded me of Latin American business hotels that appeared in the movies. The location is one of the best in the city, with no doubt, Don't forget to check out the rooftop pool & bar - it's absolutely one of Mazatlan's hidden gems. Highly recommended and great value for money

"beware Reservations will be cancelled without notice if they can get a better price"
tom m, 06 Mars 2020

Using the Best Western site to make a reservation will not guarantee that you will have a room. That is because this hotel may have the BW name it is independently owned Great location especially for special events. However have a back up plan or a hotel that will honor reservations. Management will unilaterally cancel your reservation without notice if they can get a better offer. Imagine an airline or a cruise ship doing this BW corporate told me they have no control over this practice and the management does not care if you post a negative comment on this rude inconvenient practice. I recommend you stay an one of the nicer boutique hotels in El central which is nearby. Pricing here is much higher Remember this was built in 1944 so it will have its charm The elevator is scary so I take the stairs. After all this is Mexico.

"Great stay"
thomjane, 17 Février 2020

We had been in Mexico for a month and stayed here on our last night. What a good choice! Definitely recommend the ocean side with balcony. So lovely sitting on our balcony watching the sun set. Room was very nice , staff super helpful and friendly and the complimentary breakfast is the best we have ever had. Worth it for the breakfast!!!! Can't say enough good about our stay there!

"THE spot for a terrific stay"
Joseph P, 17 Février 2020

This hotel is perfectly situated: across the street from the ocean, right on 'the strip' where nightly activity takes place EVERY night, mere footsteps away from about 10 different places to eat, including a GREAT coffee place (Looney Bean), sunsets over the water, rooftop pool, EXCELLENT staff, very reasonable price, amazing 360 degree view from the roof. We will stay at this same hotel again next year!

"History means a little charm and mostly outdated"
Ditzyredhead, 11 Février 2020

I should have known, but this is where my friends chose to be, and next time I will be more forceful about finding something that has been upgraded since the 1940's. This was probably a first class hotel— in its day. Now? Its a great pool on the roof and the rest? Nah. There may be something lost in translation as my Spanish is poor, but trying to get the service you would expect from this chain was frustrating. The soap is cheap. The sheets are scratchy and the air conditioning is spotty which isn't everything id hoped for, but its pretty basic, right? Insist and pay for the ocean view. Bring your own soap. Lower your expectations and your standards and you'll be fine. Oh and don't hope for quiet. Even at midnight.

"Not What I expected"
djpilotmed, 01 Février 2020

Water in shower was “brown” dirty - Water in sink had dirt particles and was also “brown” when the sink was started. I did not drink any water from the room, but became sick during my 5 days at the hotel. Room was very small with a little over a foot of free space between the TV/Dresser and the end of the bed. There was constant noice above the room, and in other areas that made it impossible to sleep during the daytime

"Nice Old Hotel."
706arthurn, 23 Janvier 2020

Great location of this hotel right off the beach and Old Mazatlan. One of the only drawbacks was that the Main lobby desk was manned only in the day time by English-speaking clerks and afternoons and nights only had Spanish-speaking. Had trouble when checking out as we could not get the receptionist to understand that we needed our flight boarding passes printed be for our flight.

"not worth the money & in desperate need for an update"
leugold, 25 Décembre 2019

We've booked 2 rooms during black week, upon arrival at this place they gave us two poorly equipped and totally outdated rooms facing the roof of the hotel next door with all the old acs and old toilets stacked on top of it. We went and complained about it because that weren't the rooms we booked. At first they didn't want to give us any other rooms e.g. the rooms we booked (because we booked while prices were discounted which is total bs) but after some solid discussion they changed us to two ocean view rooms (2nd level) that weren't any better equipped but had quite a nice view and a little balcony as well. So far so good we thought but it was SO loud at night (both from the streets and the accommodation for employees that was next door to our rooms) it was impossible to sleep. We all wanted to change hotels asap but couldn't because we'd booked online and payed in advance. The whole hotel is in desperate need of an update, we were laughing hard about the fact they didn't update anything in this hotel for what seems like decades and then call it a ‘history hotel'.. the hallways are dark and scary and I was a little afraid for our security overall because they didn't have a security gate or anything to close at night which is unusual. Also our bathroom smelled of feces all the time with the smell coming from the shower drain. The smell was unbearable and would spread to the whole hotel room. The breakfast is quite good actually, but they let people who don't stay at the hotel eat there too which results in waiting times to eat at one of the very few tables for the people who actually stay at the hotel. Overall I wouldn't recommend staying at this place as it's simply not worth the kind of money you pay for it, even considering we only payed half off because of the black week deal we got, it's not even worth half of the money.. I'm also very shook this is a BEST WESTERN Hotel as it clearly doesn't meet their standard. I feel sorry for typing a Rating this bad and never had to do so before but this hotel stay was the worst I had to ever experience and not something I'd expect at a hotel in this price rage.

"Great price for a great place"
Adventure765680, 29 Novembre 2019

Best deal in town. Beach not the best in town for swimming but a beautiful view. Roof top swimming pool view is amazing. View from bar amazing. Staff was super. Be back in a couple months. Been here before.

"great location"
rsallard, 26 Novembre 2019

Stayed 3 nights at Posada freeman. We did upgrade to a ocean view room which was definiyely worth it. 4th floor great views all the time but especially at sunset. Free brkfst was very good. Choices changed a bit each day. My wife fell in love with the chiliquelas. older hotel but nicely kept up. roof top pool was great usually not crowded at all. close to machado square. Malecon right across the street. Overall very happy with our stay. Used UBER to get to our timeshare at PB Emerald Bay and it was only around $7 as opposed to pulmonia or taxi at $20+. Will return ! Room was good size w 2 queens. No tub but large shower.

"Excellent hotel, great service"
1dc1010, 23 Novembre 2019

Stayed for 10 days. Breakfast buffet was excellent, rooftop pool was nice. Hotel was clean and service in all areas was excellent (breakfast, housecleaning, front desk, security and maintenance). Location is excellent next to the Malecon and lots of restaurants, shopping nearby. Would stay again.

"Lovely Local & Historic Hotel"
Stevan D, 05 Novembre 2019

We enjoyed our stay at this reasonable hotel. It is clean, comfortable, featuring a rooftop swimming pool and views of the city. Walking distance to the sea and many nearby attractions. We had no reservation but walked in, were well-received and decided to spend the night on the spot. Very pleasant.

"Excellent for the price"
andrea l, 02 Octobre 2019

The location is perfect, right overlooking the beach. Walking distance to Plaza Machado, banks, and restaurants. Our room was also overlooking the water which was fantastic. Accommodations were clean and staff was very friendly and accommodating.

"Historic Posada Freeman"
tweety10316, 19 Septembre 2019

Best breakfast that we have enjoyed compared to any other BW Franchise. Hotel is within walking distance to everything. Beach front view, you do have cross the street but perfect location for a couple's or family vacation.

"A Gleaming Classic"
JerryofMpls, 13 Avril 2019

This hotel offers so much in character, cleanliness, and fine service. Great greeting, fine bell service, parking, and extremely well-maintained areas. Sunsets from the rooftop bar and pool are a highlight of Mazatlan. Given the age the room size may feel a little small, but the ambiance makes it so worth it.

"Questionable"
Douglas V, 13 Avril 2019

First time we stayed there we had a lovely room, but the next time , not as nice. A little shabby. They do have a nice rooftop pool though. Staffs quite nice and they provide an fair breakfast. They have safe secure parking as well.

"Great rood top pool"
AndyB5542, 03 Avril 2019

We were wondering around the area and stopped in at this hotel. We went up to the rooftop pool and a beer and the great view. There is a few tables that are shaded, and the bar is just down the stairs, with $2 beers. You can't beet that!

"Carnival"
jerit2014, 15 Mars 2019

I at first was disappointed about no balconies however once I was in my room #606 I had a perfect view of the street and ocean. I've arthritis quite bad and ice my neck a lot. But they had a great table for me to sir and just watch the second parade and the fireworks. Breakfast always awesome. They were always wanting to help if you asked the front desk.

"Great Stay - Wonderful vue"
Loubuen, 27 Février 2019

Located in Old Mazatlan, this hotel has a swimming pool on the roof, looking at the city and the ocean. You get to really enjoy this beautiful city. We paid a supplement to have a room overlooking the ocean. It was well worth it. We would enjoy our own sunset, which was beautiful. as well as the full moon. The personnel at reception and the cleaning lady were very nice. the room was clean and if something was missing, we received it soon after asking. The beds were comfortable and hot water in the shower. The breakfast was awesome. It is a buffet with local food. You can also request eggs, bacon and omelets. We ordered nachos which were excellent. My only complaint is the drinks at the bar on the roof top were not very strong in alcohol. They tasted like juice. We would definitely stay there again.

"Fantastic hotel with an amazing view "
772autumnc, 25 Février 2019

We stayed here as a couple for a relaxing getaway, and it was great! The hotel is in excellent condition, very clean and the service was awesome. The beds were good quality but very firm so if you prefer a softer mattresse that may be something to enquire about. The breakfast we paid a small amount extra for was well worth it, good buffet style and different every day. The best part of our stay was the rooftop pool and bar service. Nothing better than enjoying a cold beer while looking out at the ocean. We will definitely stay here again.

"BEST WESTERN POSADA FREEMAN MAZATLAN"
Scott H, 24 Février 2019

Had stayed here previously. Rooms a little outdated, however, make up for it with good people and good service. View of the Malecon and beach from the balcony was great! Food and wine menu could use an update. Will stay again.

"Underwhelming - Basics not met - Won't return"
Excursion07334650729, 20 Février 2019

When I pay an agreed upon fee for hotel accommodations, I have a reasonable expectation that basic items will be provided. We stayed here at an unfortunate time when the on-site laundry facilities were broken and they had to launder all linens and towels at another nearby hotel. I understand that laundry facilities can breakdown, but how do you not have enough towels, sheets and shower curtains to fully stock your rooms while others are being washed? We came home multiple days wanting to shower and get ready for evening (we were in town for a wedding) and only had a hand towel for two people, no bathmat, bath towel, and one time, no shower curtain either! When the bed linens were changed, they didn't replace the mattress cover. There was one single sheet over the mattress - and we could both feel the threading pattern of the mattress underneath us. We were very patient, but nothing was done to rectify the situation or make us feel like we were getting the service or accommodations we paid for. As a guest of this hotel, I met my obligation by paying the fee in full upon check-in. This hotel did not meet it's obligation and when I asked for any reasonable reimbursement for the inconvenience of staying here while they were having a problem with their laundry, I was just told, 'Sorry, no." Had they provided ANY effort of a reimbursement, it would have changed my whole experience.

"Breakfast"
Road29051275066, 31 Décembre 2018

Since our room was the size of a closet we were looking forward to ocean view breakfast. We got to breakfast early and grabbed an ocean view table and we were moved because the ocean view tables had been reserved. Food was good but disappointed.

"Magnificent View from the top"
Rook-Salt, 03 Décembre 2018

In the heart of Mazatlan lies the Best Western Posada Freeman, a beautiful hotel that has a swimming pool on the roof, getting to the roof top one must travel by elevator and a short climb up some stairs, but once on top, your are really on top of Mazatlan, looking at the city and the ocean from this perspective is a treat you must enjoy with your visit to this beautiful city. Be there at just about sunset and while enjoying your favorite libations watch the sun slowly set, with hopefully a beautiful sunset that will linger in your memory as one of the beautiful things you did when you visited this city.. Oh, forgot to mention when the sun reaches its lowest point before disappearing watch for the green flash!! Lol

"Roof Top Pool and Bar"
DnBfromAz, 26 Novembre 2018

To begin, I have not stayed here but I have visited the roof top amenities. Be prepared as the elevator does not go to the top floor. Had to hike up a few floors but well worth it. The views are spectacular and best of Mazatlan for sunsets. I thought the drinks were good and fairly priced. The service was outstanding. Just a nice bunch of people and very friendly. Spent the afternoon with family enjoying a great Mazatlan day. Highly recommended, go in the afternoon. Enjoy

"Three nights stay "
Neeraj9, 06 Novembre 2018

The hotel is good and staffs are very cooperative. The room is clean. Breakfast is also well spread and plenty stuff available. Most of the staff speaks Spanish but receptionist at front desk can speak English. Beach is just opposite to the hotel. Good walkways. Friday evening is a lot of happenings.

"Old Time Mexico, not ready for this century"
fsm99c5, 22 Octobre 2018

The hotel needs to be updated. It's almost 2019 and there were only two sets of wall outlets. People have a lot of electronics that need to be charged. Had to unplug the lamps. The ceiling lighting was not adequate. The lighting in the bathroom was not good either. There was no air conditioning in the hallways. You have an 11 story building and the elevators only go to the ninth floor. Elevators are small. Having to use the stairs from floors 9 to 11 and there were no handrails. Maid did not always replenish towels, had to call for service. One day we made coffee that was supplied by hotel. Maid did not clean the pot or replace the coffee set up. Having non potable water in this day and age is irresponsible. The only good thing I can say is that the wait staff at breakfast attended to your needs. Also the front desk during the morning was helpful, at other times they were not. Unless your looking to go back in time, you should avoid this hotel.

"Great Place - select a room"
Gilbert C, 07 Octobre 2018

Clean hotel, parking is good. Breakfast staff is great, order eggs to your liking. Staff is very helpful. Location to the historic area is walking distance. Ocean view from your room is nice. Best sunset view in Mazatlan. Only problem was our room 704 was too cramped with two double beds. Our friend had room 703 which was more spacious and roomy. We will request that room next time.

"Ocean Balcony Room and Delish Breakie"
Simone E, 21 Août 2018

I moved from the back to the front with the balcony over the ocean, worth the $15 upgrade all the way! The pool area gives a great view of Mazatlan, and easy walking to as it is in Old Maz. LOVED the included Mexican style breakfast , very yummy indeed. Room is basic but serves the need.

"Vacation "
Tyler E, 19 Août 2018

What a wonderful view from the rooftop pool! I was able to check in early which was awesome the views from the room were great! Breakfast was included for an overall inexpensive rate for the stay! Good breakfast friendly service will definitely be back!

"Stayed there on two different occasions"
retingv, 09 Juillet 2018

Nice convenient out of the tourist zone. rooftop pool is nice and terrific view. walking distance to many old town sites. few steps out front to malecon . Secure parking in back. decent breakfast included. Restaurant is open air in the lobby.

"We will be back!"
Sergei A, 06 Juillet 2018

You can't beat the location of this hotel, just in front of the Olas Altas surf break. Check out the surfers from your private patio if you get an Ocean view room. (Only double beds available in the rooms with views of the ocean. If you want a king bed, you have to do without the view. But if you love your wife as much as I do, the double bed is plenty of space :-) ) From the moment we arrived, the staff was super chill and friendly. A++ for the staff!! The view from the rooftop is breathtaking, margaritas are awesome, and the beers are cold. There is bar service and a small pool on the roof top. Chilaquiles and huevos for breakfast every morning - bonus!! Seriously, we had no desire to go out for breakfast in the morning because the breakfasts were totally delicious and had lots of options. This hotel is located in old town, far from all of the big resorts. Within a handful of blocks you can walk to a couple of dozen magical restaurants, bars, the Cathedral, and two plazas. It is right on the Malecón. For us, the location was ideal, and the noise from the street wasn't audible from our 4th floor room. The only reason for 4 stars instead of five was that there was a slight sewer smell coming from the sink and shower in the bathroom. It didn't bother us much, but for some people I think it would be an issue. When we come back to Mazatlan, we will stay here for sure.

"Good location and value"
Rick M, 28 Mai 2018

I spent 8 nights here. It was a good price compared to others I looked at and I liked the location. I stayed on the cheap and wound up with a corner room that was 90% king size bed. But the bed was comfortable and there was storage in a wardrobe and chest of drawers. The bathroom was very small. I was happy with the service overall, but the staff in the rooftop bar were useless. Breakfast, reception, bellman, and housekeeping were very helpful. Everything worked and the hotel was kept clean. The buffet breakfast was ample and you could order eggs any style if you wanted. WiFi in the room worked well most of the time.

"Looks good feels good!!"
Pedro L, 21 Mai 2018

I only stayed for one night but It was worth it, the one thing I can criticize it's that the rooms are a little heaped and you feel that you need more space. The staff members are very helpful all the time. Amazing view to the see and it's very centric so you can go many places from the hotel. It's about 30 minutes from the airport.

"Good Stay but the pool was not for guests!"
Ken W, 20 Mai 2018

Overall a good stay, close to Centro District, decent beach across the street, mini markets nearby and room was very clean and spacious. We upgraded to the suite so we would have a fridge for cold and cheap beers. The beds were kind of hard. Included breakfast buffet was great! The pool felt like it was not for hotel guests, but rather for non-hotel guests that want to buy drinks and see the view. We were stopped from going up to the pool area with a small cooler of beer and told we were not allowed to use the pool. The beer was in cans and we would not make a mess. The staff was more interested in making tips and catering to the non-hotel guests than just allowing us to use the pool. There were no signs saying that guests were not allowed to bring their own drinks. We also had an A/C unit go down and it took 4 times going to the front desk and 24 hours before it was ever repaired. maids were great and most of the staff was very friendly. If we are allowed to bring our own beer to the pool we would stay again, otherwise we will be looking for other options for next years stay.

"Great location, overall good value"
AndreToronto, 15 Mai 2018

Perfect location for access to the Malecon and the old town. Rooms fairly spacious, ours was at the back, no sea view, window outside needed serious cleaning. Bathroom facilities fine. Nice rooftop for a good view of the sunset and some drinks in the evening. Breakfast adequate. Staff were all very nice. Everything was clean. Checkin and out, no problems. Reception did not have a paper map of the local area. I guess cellphones have rendered them obsolete these days. Reasonably priced. Overall a decent stay for a couple of days.

"Great location!"
pattypramos, 01 Avril 2018

Hotel is located in the "Old Mazatlan" walking distance to the beach, Malecon, and blocks from Plazuela Machado. Mazatlan also has these golf cart type transportation called "Pulmonias" they serve as taxis on the Malecon. We used it from the hotel to the Aquarium (paid 100 pesos $5 usd). The hotel is simple we booked the 2 double (full size beds) room had a small closet and a few drawers. Bathroom was shower only with only 2 towels. I had to argue my way to get an extra towel. AC was a bit loud but kept the room cool. The breakfast was delicious, typical mexican cuisine. Chilaquiles, eggs, beans, guisado, veggies, cereal, fruit, yogurt, juices, and coffee. The best part about this hotel is the view from the rooftop! The susnset view is amazing! Bar is also up there the margaritas are delicious you must try one as you watch the sunset....simply beautiful! Pool is also on the rooftop. We did try the restaurant food and it was good. Other than having to argue over an extra towel this hotel is recommended and I would definitely stay here again!

"Best view of city"
2013PlayaVida, 05 Février 2018

We stayed last week at this resort. It's in the old historic Centro area that makes you feel you are walking the streets of Europe. Many out door cafes and resturaunt. This hotel has the pool and bar on the 9 Th floor . So you need to walk up 2 flights of stairs to get to top. Our room was very well furnished and the bathroom was big. Ask for room 202 with a view of ocean and balcony. The front staff Renee was very helpful. Big buffet breakfast was delicious and included. Great price for value.

"Best place to watch the sunset"
Cheryl M, 22 Janvier 2018

Take the elevator up to the top, then walk up the remaining two floors to the enclosed bar. Walk up one more floor to the roof top. Fantastic view of beautiful Mazatlan. There is a small swimming pool up there. Been there several times to have margaritas and watch the sunset. Would give this 5 stars but the waiters like to overcharge you. The menu that they give you says margaritas are 80 pesos but we were charged 100 pesos. Said they upgraded the tequila. We didn't ask for it but they insisted we had to pay for it. Ruined a beautiful sunset.

"The View "
GaleAS, 20 Décembre 2017

The Posada Freeman offers a friendly rooftop bar on the 11th floor. A panoramic view, great drinks and friendly service make it a perfect destination. Nice to go just before sunset and stay until after dark.

"Elegant and comfortable"
John M B, 17 Décembre 2017

Arriving at the hotel we were greeted by an enthusiastic front desk team. We had that feeling of belonging albeit that we have never stayed there before. Esmerelda was very helpful. The room was well appointed with all the comfort that you need for your stay. The dining room staff were attentive yet not intrusive and the Breakfast buffet was huge with an incredible choice. The swimming pool area right on the beach is beautifully appointed with sun loungers and bar service.

"Beautiful Olas Altas"
278doreenf, 10 Décembre 2017

This is the third time I have stayed at Best Western Posada Freeman and have always found the staff to be very pleasant, helpful and courteous. The accommodations are very nice, the views breath-taking and the location is ideal for the beach, the malecon and el centro including Plazuela Machado and the Angela Peralta theatre...which are not to be missed. They include excellent free wi-fi and full complementary b/fast daily.

"Great Bar on 11th Floor"
MargaretG1861, 10 Décembre 2017

This is a review of the BAR, not the hotel. We accidentally found this bar. Four of us had walked from the ship to the Plaza and Cathedral area. Then we walked to the Malecón which is very pretty. Walking back we wanted some Mexico beer. It was about 11:00 am. This hotel is across the street from the lower end of the Malecon and looked like it had a nice restaurant facing the ocean. We got inside and they told us to go up to the Bar for just beer. You go up the elevator to the top/9th floor and then walk up 2 flights of stairs to the 11th Floor. The bar is beautiful. What a gorgeous 360-degree view of the Malecón, downtown, everything. We could see our ship in the harbor. Beer, Negra Modela, is $2 each. We sat, relaxes, it was cool and quiet. You can walk up one more flight of stairs and they have a swimming pool. Lovely place to sit, relax, cool off and enjoy some Mexican Beer.

"Good location!!"
CDNTerry, 27 Octobre 2017

This is not a high end hotel but offered us some very nice features. The breakfast was very good and the roof top pool and bar was a great place to unwind and look out over the Pacific and the city. The rooms were nice, comfortable and clean but a little small and the hotel is rather old so take that into account. Right on the beach so you can swim in the ocean if you aren't a pool person. The old city square was a quick walk away and nice to visit on a Sunday when the families are all out. Lots of good restaurants nearby. The Cafe Bolero was right out back, thru the parking lot and offered very affordable dining and a fantastic tamarind margarita. The only downside was there was a wedding going on in the banquet room floor below the rooftop pool/bar and it was quite loud. If you are staying on a weekend choose a lower floor to avoid this and a room at the back of the hotel as street musicians play well into the night too. Or do as we did ... party hard and pass out!! You are in Mexico!!!

"Sunsets beautiful on rooftop pool and bar"
Gilbert C, 14 Octobre 2017

When we stay extra days, we stay at the Freeman Hotel. Service is welcoming and the breakfast provided is great. The sunsets are so beautiful on the rooftop pool and bar. When we stay at other locations, we still visit and have a drink to watch a 360-degree view of Mazatlan, the view from the rooftop is amazing with the most beautiful sunsets. Looking down the coastline onto the Malecon is great. The building is around 60 years old with an elevator that is still in its original shape. The hotel is a few blocks away from old historic downtown area, tourist shopping areas reached only by bus or taxi or pulmonía. Breakfast was included and tasty. No potable water, they give you one bottle of water. The only negative aspect was parking space. The price is wonderful and we will go again.

"Very pleasant experience."
PirateBC, 21 Juin 2017

Very comfortable older hotel, across the street from the malecón & the ocean. Good, friendly service & great buffet breakfast. Definitely my "go-to" in Mazatlán....close to "old town" & city centre. Coffee on the balcony, watching the kids surfing down below......how good is that?!?

"Ok if. You want of history"
Geraldene2013, 14 Janvier 2017

We were taken here instead of the one in golden zone. Very clean friendly. Beds hard as a rock. Noisy noisy noisy. Pool on top level is cold. Elevators are scary. Did not like. But if ou want history it's great. View across the road is beautiful

"It was good....."
Baja5557, 31 Décembre 2016

I stayed here many times because I was by myself in Mazatlan for business but never again. The place has gone to HELL....... I think BW should just demolish this entire hotel and start from scratch. Even the employees have gotten worse. NOPE-NEVER AGAIN! Breakfast buffet? Don't bother-The eggs are cold and you must pray to GOD himself for a coffee refill! Cold beans and you must fight the flies at the fruit tray!

"Nice Historic area"
Gilbert C, 23 Décembre 2016

The sunsets are beautiful on the rooftop pool and bar. Walking to the coastline Malecon is great each morning. Service is friendly and the breakfast provided is great. No potable water, they give you one bottle of water. Will go again.

"The sound of the waves...."
banditprincess, 02 Décembre 2016

My windows are open -- ah, the ocean breeze and beautiful view over the Malecon out to the distinctly Mazatlan coastline. Never turned on the AC. Basic hotel, not a resort. Great location in Centro Historico. At night, the local entertainers serenade. Fine service. Angelina's restaurant behind the hotel... see my review. And nearby: Tippy Toes for the mani/pedi/facial/massage/haircut you've been needing. All good!

"Dissatified Stay in Historic Downtown"
ClaudiaLafayette, 18 Novembre 2016

Do not mistake the usually satisfactory accommations Best Western provides. This hotel the rooms are dirty, water is not filtered, service is slow due to understaffing. My sister and father familiar with area and selected hotel for the location near ocean, cathedral, galleries and shops. Okay we accepted rooms not updated modern but beds are terrible hard, very low old toilets. As my 82 year father summed it up -- you get what you pay. A two night stay turned into a one night upgrading to another hotel. Good Luck!

"Reviewing the rooftop bar and pool"
Equestrian47, 28 Octobre 2016

Every year now, I go here and take new people with me to see the sunset from the roof of this hotel. The sunset is beautiful from here and there is an infinity pool on the roof. The view from the top of the Freeman is incredible. You can see in every direction, the ocean, the port, the light house, the cathedral, the city. As the sun goes down, and the lights start turning on, it looks like a fairyland. We usually manage to go here for a drink before going on to a local restaurant for dinner. I regret to say that I have never eaten at the restaurant on the ground floor. A wonderful experience.

"Quiet Oasis in the Center of Mazatlan"
Tio L, 20 Octobre 2016

La Posada Freeman was a great place to rest a night on out our way South to Ajijic, MX. The location puts us close to the toll road that we use. A bonus is the free breakfast buffet, which equates to about $ 30 US including tip. There is safe & secure parking within the hotel grounds, which made us feel comfortable, since we travel with a packed car on our way south. Our next report will be on the quality of th breakfast buffet.

"360 View and a Cold Beer"
Karen M, 11 Septembre 2016

We always take our Mazatlan visitors to the bar at the top of the Freeman. To get their you will take the lobby elevator (old but safe) and then walk up 2 flights of stairs to the pool deck. Here you will get table service and some nights some easy listening music. From the top you can see the Olas Altos, the miles of the Malecon, the Stone Island Beach, the Pacifico Brewery, the Angela Peralta, light house, etc. Its a lovely way to spend an hour.

"Very nice hotel"
ej0nss0n, 02 Août 2016

I selected this hotel for my business trip to mazatlan because is near downtown where I had my meetings, I really liked the hotel not only for the location but the view to a very nice beach, near to many local good restaurants, good services some old the building and furniture w low mainteinance but I like it as a future place to stay

"Best Western in need of renovation."
Rick S, 25 Mai 2016

We arrived here on April 23/2016 and got the eight floor ocean view room with two double beds. First night was a nightmare because they had a wedding party on the tenth floor and they kept us up till 2 am in the morning after numerous calls to the front desk reporting the noise but nothing was done about it. We found that the toilet wasn"t clean the towel bar fell off and the remote for the tv wasnt working properly either. We talked to the manager the next day and she was very concerned that we weren"t happy. She moved us to a suite with two double beds and full kitchen and two bathrooms. EVERYTHING WAS OKAY till we tried to use the phone and it didn't work and it was determined by the maintenance staff that the problem was the line from the company was broken somewheres. When we tried to use the stove the stove didnt work either. Another disappointment that was brought to the managers attention. The manager wanted to move us again to the fifth floor suite but we didn't want to move again. We decided to tough it out. The view from the eight floor is vantastic and the suite did have alot of room. It is a short walk from this hotel to the downtown area and is right accross from the malecon. The lighthouse is nearby and stone island as well. One other thing that was really disappointing was one of the waiters was really unfriendly with us every morning we had breakfast here. One morning he ignored us totally and we had to get our own coffee. So not the managers fault she tried to help us but this hotel needs to be renovated and staff need to do a better job in making guests feel welcome. Also the breakfast buffet needed some variety it was always the same for the week we were there. Hopefully this helps you improve your hotel.

"Older high rise, convenient to old part of the city, across from malecon & ocean"
TaxLady30188, 19 Mai 2016

This is a different hotel from the Freeman on the Zona Dorada, so make sure you are reading/writing about the hotel you are looking for. Great location across the street from the malecon and beaches, walking distance to anything you may need. Pool on the roof with 360 views of the city and ocean, beautiful open-air lobby and restaurant. The A/C was not working in the first room we were assigned, so they moved us to a smaller room on a lower floor. We didn't use the pool because it was full of kids. The bar was great, with good service. Buffet breakfast was excellent, though limited. Other food items ordered by our group members in the afternoon looked fresh and appealing. Our bed was a bit hard but the room was clean and we had plenty of hot water. We would definitely stay here again.

"A great place to stay"
NakomaGolfResort, 02 Mai 2016

Just got back from a week at the Freeman, my first stay there and I was very pleased with the accommodation. Walking in from the parking lot, you enter the tiled lobby that is open to the world on the front with palm trees and the ocean just across the street. It's breathtaking to feel that rush of warm, tropical air and have that view greet you. If you want a view, stay on floors 5 or above. I was on 5 and had a spectacular ocean view and a small balcony with a couple chairs so I could enjoy the warm evenings. The buffet breakfast (it's included in the room rate) is delicious with fresh fruit, yogurt and granola plus a half dozen warm, savory dishes to choose from. The morning staff is friendly, although until they get to know your preferences, you do have to ask a few times for things. But after about the 3rd day, they knew exactly what I wanted. The only thing to be aware of is the noise from the street at night if you're on the front of the hotel. I brought ear plugs and most nights that was enough and I could leave the windows open for the fresh air. But a couple nights, I needed earplugs and the windows closed with the AC on to block out the noise. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall, this is a great place to stay for the view, the convenience of walking distance to the old part of town and the proximity to the beach.

"Much Improved!"
rickywheels, 23 Avril 2016

Since I stayed there three years ago, it is much improved. The young staff was unfailingly helpful. The rooms though small were clean and everything worked. The view from the ocean-facing room was spectacular. The pool and bar, though accessed by stairs, very nice. Breakfasts plentiful and service attentive (though hot dishes suffered the usual buffet fatigue). The location couldn't be better. And free parking. I shall return.

"A Gem in Old Mazatlan"
canheboy, 29 Février 2016

Situated along the beach strip in the old part of Mazatlan Centro, the Posada Freeman Hotel is an excellent choice. The daily breakfast is well presented and changed slightly from day to day. The roof top pool is small but pleasant. The Staff were outstanding and the room clean and comfortable. Bed sheets were thin and towels were average but otherwise fine, Internet access was very limited and slow when available in the room. Location to all the sights and the historic center is excellent. I highly recommend this hotel.

"It was nice at one time-NOT NOW"
bajapi, 26 Février 2016

I have been to this hotel probably 20 times and it has slowly declined to where I would never step foot in this place again. Every time I come to Mazatlan has been for business because this city is far from a resort town. On this last trip I brought my wife with me for the first time. On the last trip here in November 2015 I booked a room with an ocean view. When I checked in they told me that all the ocean facing rooms have been booked and they could give me a "city" view. The room was smaller than my closet at home and of course the coffee maker didn't work as well as two of the lamps and the clock. I attended the golf tournament I was there for and immediately flew home after. I know what your saying-It's a very inexpensive facility so what do you want? What I want is a clean room and have what is available in the room to work or why have a coffee maker, clock, and lamps in the room? For display? On this trip with my wife I booked an ocean facing room and once again when I checked in I was told there was nothing available. I am the type of person that doesn't get upset however the front desk person apparently saw my face turn bright red so she checked once again and said that a view room just became available. Of course there was an extra charge which I paid. Don't know why the extra charge but it was minimal so I paid. When we got into the room my wife had to take a shower. When she got out she told me that one of the towels was still wet and looked like it had been used. I called the front desk for another towel and it was never brought to me. The floor was dirty because my white socks were black on the bottom after wearing them for only an hour! We were hungry so we went to the restaurant and split a club sandwich which was terrible. prior to going to sleep I made coffee using the bottle of water that there is a charge for and had everything ready and just needed to turn it on when I awoke. The next morning I went to the coffee make however the button to turn it on wasn't there. It was broke..... I went downstairs and the restaurant was packed and finally after waiting for 15 minutes got ahold of a waiter and he gave me two cups of pretty good brew. We came downstairs and attempted to eat breakfast. Because it was about 10:30 am and most of the guests had already eaten most of the food was gone and wasn't replaced. There was a little fruit and some toast so that is what I ate however I did try the scrambled eggs which were cold and tasteless. I had some business that day so we returned later and I took a shower and dried myself with a hand towel and thats when I saw Mr. Cockroach and his family. We decided to leave. I went downstairs with our luggage and explained to the front desk girl what happened and she readied our bill. She asked me if I used the bottle of water in the room and I told her I did and what had happened with the coffee maker. She still charged me for the water!!! I'm done with this place and it wasn't for the bloodstains on the sheets or the small smelly pillows. I will never come back because the staff doesn't care, the owners don't care, the chef doesn't care and the cleaning crew doesn't care so you know what----I don't care. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels some of the finest in the world and then there is the Freeman. If you really want to save money go to the downtown bus station sit in a chair and I bet you will have a better nights sleep then this terrible facility. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. I just saw a review of someone who wrote about a suite overlooking the ocean and that it was fantastic. There are no suites overlooking the ocean. The only "suite" they have is overlooking the trash cans and the furniture is circa 1940. Good luck with your stay here but thats it for me......

"Suggest upgrading to a suite"
bulldoug85745, 22 Février 2016

Booked a room on Hotels.com for 4 nights, $70 per night. Arrived to find the room very small. Immediately upgraded to a suite for $30 per night more. Loved the suite! Very spacious, views facing ocean and Malecon and another view of Centro. Refrigerator, wifi, two tvs, two bathrooms w showers, ceiling fans, ac, safe, kitchen area and couch. Suggest getting on the 4th floor or higher for best views. Breakfast was included and it had a great variety. Staff were wonderful. Recommend nearby Angelina's Kitchen for dinner and drinks. Great food, reasonably priced and a really knowledgeable bartender. Margaritas were delicious. Go through hotel lobby towards parking lot, pass through it, turn left and you are there. All kinds of restaurants and bars within short walk. El Presidio is a must do for dinner. Wait until you see it!

"I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT"
george h, 05 Février 2016

it is not a hotel or rest area is good this fences city center but the hotel zone (Tourist) 30 minutes by public transport. the area where this hotel are many bars and pubs is not a quiet noisy is not good place to rest the pool is dirty and the room had a bad smell.

"Mr."
705brian, 02 Février 2016

We were led to believe we had a nice larger room on the 5th floor facing the ocean. Room had 2 queen beds. What we got was a tiny room with a kingsize bed. Could not get 2 people around bed at once. Stayed 1 nite out of intended 14 and left for another place. Other than that staff was nice breakfast was good and view from breakfast terrace was very good. Would not go back but we certainly didn't hate it.

"poor service and cockroaches"
july t, 27 Janvier 2016

Mazatlan visited on our anniversary our travel agent made the reservation at this hotel upon arrival did not taste that was not in the area where he always arrived (Golden Zone) to reach the very small hotel small lobby with 6 people and is full the room was not comfortable very hard beds and the view if overlooked the ocean but not fences from the beach and my husband and I like to walk in the mornings cleaning is bad we found a cockroach in the bathroom was reported to reception and they sent the maid was very disgusting, what good is that this fencing nightclubs if you like going out for drinks, the restaurant is not good.

"Great Hotel Except for the beds"
Toolmantym, 08 Décembre 2015

Me an my wife stayed at this hotel while attending a conference in Mazatlan. The price was great. The hotel, although is older, is very well kept. The staff were great. A very cool pool bar on the 12th floor roof overlooking the city. The included hot breakfast buffet was very great. The only thing that let the place down was the beds. We read a few reviews about the hotel and people mentioned the beds were hard, but I thought "they can't be that bad". I was wrong. It was like sleeping on the floor. They tried moving us and putting extra blankets etc.. But my wife couldn't sleep and was in so much pain with her back after 2 nights that we ended up having to move hotels. So all in all. Great hotel, great breakfast, great staff, great price. Just the rock hard beds that let it down.

"Freeman Hotel"
Jacquie H, 29 Novembre 2015

Beautiful views, cant wait to come back. Staff went out of there way to make us comfortable. Location in Centro is awesome, close to everything. Dinning in the area is fantastic. Sunset on the roof top is spectacular.

"Perfect location near the historic center"
eclecticview, 12 Novembre 2015

Clean, reasonable, and within walking distance of historic center and lots of restaurants. Great views of the water and the city. The hotel was built in 1944 or so but has been updated. It isn't directly on the water but right across the street. I think its the best bang for your buck because you can walk into town and enjoy lots of bars, art galleries and people watching. Very nice staff. Didn't try the food.

"Didnt stay here but the bar on the top floor is an amazing spot"
jan t, 05 Novembre 2015

A local suggested we take a cab to the Hotel Freeman and head up to the bar on one of the top floors. The view and sea breezes were stunning!! Take a peek at the pool on the top floor. We capped off a hot walking tour here with, hands down, the BEST margarita we have ever had....ever. I decided I will not have another till I return to this beautiful place. Nothing could compare to the taste( and ambience of this place).

"Nice hotel in the best part of town."
Kathleen D, 26 Octobre 2015

I always stay on the ocean side of the hotel, up on the 7th floor. The views are fabulous, the staff is very gracious. The breakfast is fantastic, traditional mexican, very yummy-try the chiliquilies (sp)! And then there is a 360 degree view from the roof where you can go for a swim or have a drink and watch the sunset. I highly recommend it.

"Nice location in the older part of Mazatlan"
franko1us, 26 Septembre 2015

Enjoyable hotel. Easy walk to many places in the "old town" section of Mazatlan. Staff super friendly and helpful. Nice bar overlooking the ocean on the 10th floor. Food ok at best. Secure parking. Free breakfast was a nice way to start the morning off. Wall a/c was a little noisy.

"Very inexpensive and a GREAT location!"
pholland7, 05 Août 2015

Very nice for the $$!! We were just staying 1 night so we weren't expecting much but we were pleasantly surprised! Everyone was so nice and accommodating and our view from our balcony was awesome!! We spent most of the evening in the hotel bar which has magnificent views! The breakfast buffet was great too! We really enjoyed our stay here and will stay here again!

"Great hotel services and attention."
Norma V, 30 Juillet 2015

Confortable clean rooms with a great view of the ocean. Very greatful of the service of captain Armando Carvajal and the waiter Antonio Hernandez who were as attentive as Jose Carlos the Bell boy who was very concerned to know how my family and myself felt and the willingness he had to inform us about the best places to visit. Thank you again.

"Quiet, clean, very well located ...."
Travieso707, 27 Mai 2015

The hotel has a very good location, on a quiet side of town, but within walking distance of the center. Breakfast is EXCELLENT and the staff, SUPERB. If you are looking for a nice, comfortable stay, I would highly recommend it.

"Mazatlan with the locals"
ProfessorMTL, 25 Mai 2015

The hotel is situated at the southern end of the Malecon, an area that is favoured by the locals. The rooms on the north and west side of the hotel offer a wonderful view of the ocean, with balconies on the west side rooms. The hotel shows some age but is clean and comfortable. The staff was wonderfull and responsive despite my very poor Spanish. The local restaurants (even along the Malecon) offer a variety of very good food (mostly seafood) at great prices. The Malecon tends to be noisy in the evening but the sound of the breaking waves covers up much of the noise and makes for a pleasant background. The rooftop pool is perfect for viewing the city and sunset with a margarita.
