"Overall Good - Lots of Pluses, A Few Niggles"

David R, Neutral Bay, Australia 26/09/2018

As others have noted, this place ticks many boxes - central location, very clean, good beds, quiet, good water pressure, and close to most things, staff helpful and importantly pet friendly. Downsides are that our room was very small as was the bathroom. Access to the hotel by car was poor at best and parking in the public car park expensive at 29euros a day.

"Good value, clean and comfortable with friendly helpful staff and a great central location."

cdm6345, Marseille, France 01/09/2018

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and enjoyed the experience. Very clean room which was very quiet despite being at the front of the hotel, on a popular street. Secure and comfortable with efficient, adjustable air-con and plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Hotel is in a great location, within a short distance of the harbour and other areas of interest including the Le Panier arts /crafts precinct, museums etc. The Bourse shopping mall and supermarket are across the street and a very short tram ride from directly outside the hotel goes to the large Les Docks and Les Terraces du Port shopping malls. The hotel is a 15 min walk from Marseille train station but with luggage a short €7 taxi ride is an option. My room was a good size with pleasant, modern decor, tiled modern bathroom and seperate toilet (not often encountered in a hotel room). The hotel has a lounge and breakfast area on the first floor with free tea and coffee accessible at all hours and the reception/lobby area offers refreshing, fruity, iced water and a lolly jar which is ad nice touch. Rooms have tea and coffee-making facilities and the wifi was excellent. Flat screen TV but no programs in English. The hotel staff spoke good English and were friendly and helpful and provided a wake-up call and organised a taxi for my departure. I would happily stay at this Best Western hotel again. The hotel is also secure.

"Bad service"

User 11/08/2018

Worst service ever! My room was full of ants and i wake up they walk all on My body. They dont give me nothing for that. And yesterday i waiting wather 20min because there is nobody working on the bar. Dont go there if you dont want to be fooled! I drive from Finland to here like 2days and what i get...? Bad service and some bugfestival in my room!!! ???? #bugzoo#angry#customer!

"Great location"

Julie P, Virginia 17/04/2018

It was a nice BW in a great location, and the receptionist spoke English, and she was extremely helpful in setting up transfers to the Cruise port the next morning. Room was large and clean, and the bathroom was lovely and spacious as well. Breakfast was ample, yet a bit pricey. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying only a night or two. We were getting on a Cruise, and thought this place was great. The picture included in this review was our room with "pineapple wallpaper."

"Great Hotel with great staff, in a great location"

User 27/03/2018

First of all, the location is great, in an alive neighbourhood, about 200 meters from the famous “Vieux Port”. The staff was great, nice and flexible. Rooms are clean and neat, decoration is floral, which was quite enjoyable on the French Riviera. The breakfast is very good too. Altogether, a perfect stay !

HI Mr Timothée, Thank you for your very nice message. We hope to see you soon. Cordially

"An excellent stay"

Jonathan P, Manchester, United Kingdom 26/02/2018

We really cannot fault our stay here, ever since we arrived everyone were there to help us and to make sure we were happy. Our room was very clean and was cleaned every day by the lovely maids. The room was not the biggest however it suited our needs and had everything we needed. There was Nespresso available at all times and pastries in the morning. Also there is a lounge area where you have your breakfast if you are doing bed and breakfast - we used it after checkout to chill out and have a coffee before we headed to the airport. So overall we had a really good experience and we would definitely stay here again in the future.

Emilie B, Directeur général at Best Western Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port by HappyCulture, responded to this review
Dear Jonathan, Thank you so much for the great history of your stay!! We feel definitely the happiest hotel by reading your words :-) We enjoyed sharing our time with you and we hope we will have more lovely days in the future at your service. Kind Regards, The all team :)

"Clean room and friendly staff "

Diane K, Chicago, Illinois 08/02/2018

We were at first taken aback by the size of their tiny lobby. The room was clean and we enjoyed the daily breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a problem with our room that they quickly rectified. We stayed at the hotel for 8 nights. It was centrally located in the hectic port city making it easy to walk to all the museums and attractions. They have a coffee machine available and sometime bake goods left from breakfast. Price was also very reasonable.

Emilie B, Directeur général at Best Western Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port by HappyCulture, responded to this review
Dear Diane, Thank you for sharing your experience, we are happy to read your words! We will always welcome you with free coffee and fresh water during your stay :) My Best Regards, Emilie

"Great Hotel and amazing location"

Ophély C, Paris, France 07/02/2018

I had a pleasant stay at BW MARSEILLE VIEUX PORT. Staff is great the rooms are quite spacious with a large bathroom. The breakfast restaurant is pretty cute and in a feel at home atmosphere. The location is right by vieux Port and I will g back again as this is a good value for money compared to what you can find in Marseille.

Emilie B, Directeur général at Best Western Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port by HappyCulture, responded to this review
Dear Ophély, Thank you so much for your pleasant commentary! we would be very pleased to welcome you again on your next trip, We wish you a Nice day, Kind regards, Emilie BARBERA

"You don't get the bed you booked"

User 27/11/2017

I am dissapointed. I booked a single room with double bed and I payed more for this over the single bed option. Double bed is also confirmed on my booking. When I came to the hotel they gave me a single bed and also said that they actually don't have single rooms with double beds. So why double bed option was given to me during reservation.

"Clean, cozy, great location and very helpfull staff"

eddieonaball, New Delhi, India 11/10/2017

Staff - The staff was very helpful. There was a girl called Yasmina at the front desk who helped me out with all my queries. She even got me a portable charger to charge my phone Location - less than 5 minutes walking from the old port, where all the bars and restaurants were. The hotel was clean, cozy and quiet even though its situates on a street with small restaurants. There is a nice shawarma / donner kebab place just below the hotel The hotel is about a 25 minutes walk from the railway station. I walked with my backpack

Emilie B, Directeur général at Best Western Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port by HappyCulture, responded to this review
Hello Eddie! Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Yasmina will be delighted to read your comments :) Thouk you for your positve thoughts ! Kindest regards, Emilie

"Amazing breakfast buffet!"

Sarah B, Richardson 17/07/2017

We had a double room for 3 nights. Comfortable supportive mattresses, great linens. New bathroom, lots of hot water and nice double shower heads with strong water pressure. Very clean. Quiet. Cool comfortable air conditioning (we were there in July), great for restful sleeping. Great TV. The breakfast buffet was included, what a delightful difference from American hotel style included breakfasts: very good expresso, coffee and tea available all day along with croissants and chocolate croissants; orange, apple and grapefruit juices, fresh fruit, French style yogurt with all the trimmings - almonds, hazelnuts, raisins, brown sugar, honey, almond syrup, fruit syrups, etc.; toast, croissants, chocolate croissants, pastries, fruit jams (jars of real fruit jams, not the plastic packets!)meats and cheeses, several types of breads. Lots of restaurants (including seafood and ethnic) and shops within walking distance on the scenic Port. Get a city card and take a boat ride to the two islands in the harbor, see the sunset and ride back. Ride the train, trolly and electric trams everywhere, see the awesome museums highlighting the city's ancient history as a seaport during the Roman Empire. Many wonderful Roman artifacts, medieval forts and neighborhoods, and historical churches to see also. Take a boat tour to the Calanque islands national park and see the turquoise Mediterranean water. Underwater shipwrecks and WWII planes for those who enjoy diving and snorkeling. Really a great city to relax in and enjoy the fresh seafood and Mediterranean sunshine ...

"Good hotel, few deal breakers, horrible parking"

User 10/07/2017

Our stay was for two nights. We arrived in Marseille and had to drive around the block a couple time cause it is definitely not easy to see, a small door with a Silver sign that bounces off light and becomes unreadable. Look for the number 16 instead as it is the only way to recognize it. Checking in was fast and easy, but then the parking: you have to park at what seems to be an abandoned shopping center across the street, the parking has only two elevators (escalators don't work), so be mindful to park on the red color side of the parking lot and as closest to the end if you're carrying bags, we came out the opposite side after walking around in circles for a long time trying to get out of the parking lot, to fin we had to drag our bags all around the block in the scorching sun of July. To top it all, hotel only gives you 20% discount on parking, so be prepared to pay quite a bit. The hotel room is spacious and clean (we booked a triple) bathroom is huge, which is great. No towels or toilet paper upon arrival. For the rest, the room was great. A bit of a dodgy area immediately outside the hotel but it's only a couple block away from where everything's happening.

Emilie B, Directeur général at Best Western Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port by HappyCulture, responded to this review
Dear Paloma, Thank you for taking the time to share your review on Tripadvisor. We are glad that you enjoy your room and the location of the hotel. "Decent Value for Money"

JimmyTheBairn, Falkirk, UK 27/06/2017

For the price paid, we had modest expectations of this hotel and as it turned out, that was a realistic approach to take. On the plus side: located a short walk from Vieux Port and the Canebiere; good public transport links; clean, reasonably comfortable, modern, quiet room with efficient air con; helpful friendly staff; OK breakfast. Less good things: no toilet roll in the room on arrival; main entrance security door did not work; hot drinks machine in the breakfast room did not work, wifi signal strength variable; too few staff. The area immediately around the hotel is a bit shabby and there are no traditional bars selling alcohol, but there are plenty of friendly kebab restaurants/cafes where tasty cheap eats can be had anytime of day. Next time we go to Marseille we probably will spend a bit more on accommodation and go elsewhere, but if I had to go back to this hotel, I would be quite content provided the same or better value for money could be had.

"Average stay, nothing special."

TaylorCB, Hamilton, New Zealand 12/02/2017

Booked in here for the weekend. It was fairly priced and the location was very central. Close to the old port and within walking distance to the Les Dock Village and shopping mall along the port. The only downfall of having a central location was that at night you can hear everything going on in the streets, even with the window closed. The room was basic and didn't have any character to it. It initially stank of smoke, even the sheets. Assumed maybe the housekeeper smoked in rooms? We aired out the room by leaving the window open all day and night. Reception ladies were nice and greeting you each time however the reception area didn't seem too inviting. Small area and not very well lit. Our stay was pleasant enough as we only wanted basic which is what we got.

"Good breakfast, great bathroom, excellent staff"

Jane M, Manchester, United Kingdom 29/01/2017

I had booked an accessible room as I am a wheelchair user, although I am able to walk a little. The bathroom was excellent - good height toilet for me -although maybe a little high for wheelchair transfer -and excellent walk -in shower,it has a slightly sunken tray so is not quite level access. The staff could not have been more helpful and the breakfast was very nice and worth the money. The only downside was the somewhat temperamental lift and the lack of an armchair in the bedroom. Would definitely stay here again.

"Good location"

Ezio668, Rivoli, Italy 21/01/2017

The location of the hotel is very good: close to the vieux port and very close to the bus station. Nice staff, good quality of the breakfast, comfortable bed. The room requires more maintenance: the chair back was broken, the soap dispenser in the bathroom was broken; after the shower the bathroom floor is completely wet.

"Just acceptable"

User 13/12/2016

The hotel is ideally situated in the inner center of Marseille. Airconditionning was not working in my room on the third floor. A positive thing: the hotel offers a " happy hour" for free. You can then taste local snacks and drinks. Overall, the price was acceptable.

"Standard best western but VERY NOISY"

Hani K, Ottawa, Canada 14/10/2016

This hotel has all the standard best western amenities that you expect But there is a lot of noise from outside, which makes it hard to sleep at night It's located on a very busy and loud street with lots of traffic I was wearing earplugs and still found it hard to sleep with all the noise I wouldn't recommend it or come back here

"Not "Happy,,," received bug bites..."

Onmyway T, London, United Kingdom 18/09/2016

Moved on to this Hotel to be nearer the Port\\action. The staff were very good and so too the location. My room looked smaller than 15sq that I had booked. But, I was only there for a night. The problems emerged i the morning. Breakfast was "ok" with a good coffee machine, mobile charging unit. I was going to shave and turned the mirror over, to find out that it was broken. The Air Con stopped working. I informed the staff and they came straight away to fix. I saw flies in my room, but thought nothing of it. But, during the day I realized that I had been bitten by them a lot. It was rather painful for a good couple of days. They have a good storage for luggage.

"quarto com muito mau gosto"

Fatima M, Lisboa, Portugal 17/09/2016

Rooms of poor decoration. Really poor. Small shower area; NOT CLEAN!. There were no shower towels. Breakfast poor and litle choice. Price to value is not good. nice location; Staff is kind. The common areas are too small.

"Average airport hotel"

Luzhong, Sheffield, United Kingdom 15/09/2016

It's near the airport and can't walk to. We found the buzzer at the bus shelter and a driver came 10 minutes later to collect us. When I asked how could we go to the rail station nearby. The reception staff said we could take the hotel shuttle bus to airport then take airport shuttle bus to rail station. So we should leave one hour for the travel. Actually the rail station is only 5 minutes away. The driver however took us straight to rail station next morning. If we knew that's possible, we won't leave so early and ended up waiting 50 minutes at a quiet nobody platform. The room is clean

"Could be a great hotel"

Bob V, Stratford, Canada 11/09/2016

This hotel does not fully meet the Best Western standards. It totally lacks a normal covered drive-up entrance; the front door is just a small opening in an array of shops. Also, there are no refrigerators in the rooms. However, it is obvious that its owners have made a substantial investment in creating new facilities within an old building close to the Old Port. The bed was good, and the new wood floors are beneficial in a hot climate (much easier to keep clean than carpets). Our room on the back side of the hotel was amazingly quiet for such a busy location in a bustling city. We slept well, which is paramount in any hotel. The breakfast was good, but should have had more fresh fruit. The complimentary internet worked well. My main complaint is bad interior design. The tiny desk for my computer was directly under a head-banging shelf where the kettle for tea-making was located. The kettle could not be safely used there, and I had to place it beside the bed. Surely a competent designer could have found a better place for the kettle shelf. Also, the bedside tables are ridiculously tiny (and have only a single shelf, not like the advertising picture). On the plus side, the service was excellent, so I shall continue to be a loyal Best Western Rewards member.

"disappointing hotel"

Sylvie K, Brighton 27/08/2016

despite being close to the old port, the area of this hotel is dirty and feels very insecure. The main door of the hotel is so small, it took a while for us to find it! We arrived late afternoon and were given a room which was far from 3* standard: dark, curtain falling off the railings, dirty windows, not vacuumed, tv not working. When I complained, I was told nothing could be done until next day. The room given the next day felt much nicer, cleaner and brighter. Breakfast is basic, all self-service, coffee-machine was not working during our 3-night stay. I will not go back to Marseille. I would love to know how they were awarded 3*...

"Pleasant and practical hotel."

Margaret M, Campuzan France 10/08/2016

The hotel is well placed within walking distance of the old port. Staff are very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is nicely presented with coffee and tea available and free when needed. Position close to shops and restaurants. We stayed here before and after taking a cruise with France Croisières visiting southern Italy and the Greek islands also Corsica, such a wonderful holiday.

"Good location"

Moriamb, London, United Kingdom 07/08/2016

My daughter and I stayed here for 4 days and it was ideal for our needs. It's clean and the rooms are descent. All the staff were very friendly and helpful particularly Jean Claude who went out of his way to help us. It's located in the centre of town so everywhere is within walking distance. I'm disabled and use a walking aid but I found it very easy to get around. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and it can be a bit noisy but it didn't bother us. You're spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing where to eat!

"Poor room standards"

Greg221968, Lichfield, United Kingdom 15/07/2016

Stayed one night in a double room cleaning standards were poor. Bathroom dust vanity unit and hairs in the shower...... Floor not vacuumed bits all over and decoration old and tired. Poor bar area and breakfast was left out to long with much being refilled.

"Good value for money"

Lavy81, Kuala Lumpur 15/07/2016

It has a very (very) discreet entrance, near the port. The bedroom was small and good value for money, with a standing shower and some basic tea and coffee making facilities and safe. You can walk to Gallery La Fayette in 10 minutes and get some grub at the gourmet supermarket or you can walk to the restaurants along the pier. If I wanted to stay near the pier for a decent price, I'd probably stay here again. The only think I'd complain about is that the breakfast can be a little basic, but maybe thats just Europe? A few pastries, fruits muesli and yoghurt and thats it

"Crazy expensive parking fee"

Isabellfang, Hamburg, Germany 22/06/2016

The hotel is OK, clean and quite. The location is close to the habour, but surrounded with many different kind of people. No hotel parking at all, but you need to park cross the street under the shopping mall with crazy expensive parking fee -- 30euro per day. With the hotel stamp, you can get 20% discount, but still 24euro for a night, even if you arrived in the evening and left in the morning. One more shortage is there is no refridge in the room, even the temperature is so high.

"A bargain for it's location."

Steven V, Barrie, Canada 08/06/2016

Good hotel if you are travelling on a budget. Small, no-frills, and inexpensive. Good value for it's proximity to the train station and to the port (which is where you want to be when in Marseille). Clean rooms and helpful staff, and very nice breakfast area.

"AMAZING service!"

scfennell, Lugano, Switzerland 21/03/2016

For several reasons, I ended up being in 3 rooms during my trip. The front desk was always very understanding and accommodating. I must take the opportunity to thank Emily, who was absolutely amazing. If I ever return to Marseille, I would stay here solely based off my good experiences with her. She was so helpful and never made me feel like a burden. The hotel was very clean and I enjoyed my time.

Olivier B, Propriétaire at BEST WESTERN Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port, responded to this review
Dear scfennell, We are happy to welcome you few days ago, and we are happy you give us back your advice about your trip. Your satisfaction is our priority. We are pleased that your stay has met your expectations. I will share with Emily and the rest of the team your compliments. Best regards, Olivier B. General Manager

"On its way to become a star"

Patrick R, New Haven, Connecticut 21/03/2016

The hotel is conveniently located, albeit in a "borderline" neighborhood. It is being renovated, and a few things are not quite up to speed, such as the television - not working on the last 24 hours, or the floor, unfinished (you practically walk on gravel). However, the staff does its best to make up for it, and is very helpful, professional and understanding. I will come back to this hotel once it is ready to receive guests properly

Olivier B, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port, responded to this review
Dear Patrick R, We are happy you take the time to give us back your advice about your trip with us. Actually we work to bring you a better quality of service. We will of course be delighted to welcome you again at the end of the work so you can discover the new decoration of the hotel. Best regards, Olivier B. General Manager

"Large Rooms"

379martit, Twyford, United Kingdom 08/03/2016

Good hotel.Large rooms and clean. Not too exciting breakfast.Good location in city center. Its not a pritty view from your window. But for a short break the hotel is more than good.I can recomend this hotel if you are in marseille

Olivier B, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port, responded to this review
Dear 379martit, We are happy that your trip was a success. The hotel is really near to the Vieux Port, and the Canebière Street. We will change the breakfast in a few day to purpose to our guests a complete breakfast. We hope to welcome you again in our charming city of Marseille. Best regards, Olivier B. General Manager

"Would not recommend "

Allison P, Perth, Australia 18/02/2016

You wouldn't even know it's a hotel if you walked past. Hole in the wall entrance. Breakfast is lacking. Rooms are small for the price! Soaps are undesirable in the bathroom. Great city location but staff were lacking in the English department. Clean but would not go back.

Olivier B, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port, responded to this review
Dear Allison P, We thank you for having taken time to announce us your remarks during a stay among us. We are saddened that your stay was not up to your expectations, and we take good knowledge of your remarks. We are going to strengthen our controls to avoid these inconveniences. "Normal hotel , super great location "

Mario B, Panama City 26/12/2015

The hotel is located near the port . It's clean hotel. You can access to the hotel by walking from the train station. The staff is friendly . The only downside it's that the area around the hotel it's dirty. But, I will definitely stay again there.

"Basic, clean and functional "

Gazmo_1, UK 17/12/2015

To walk....5 mins to harbour, bars and restaurants, 10 mins from main train station, 3 to metro, 15 seconds from tram stop...yes, tramline on the doorstep...literally! Car parking in the shopping centre over the road (tramline) about €20 per day. Hotel itself is fine, helpful 24 hour reception staff, continental breakfast, my room was clean and bed very comfortable. A tip...street cleaning starts at about 5:30 trams shortly afterwards... .... good, foam morphic ear plugs recommended.

Olivier B, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port, responded to this review
Dear Gazmo, Your remarks take forward us and allow us to improve on a daily basis, and we in you thank for it. We are saddened that the noise pollution outside hampered your sleep. We are going to intensify very soon the sound insulation, with the high-performance equipment. We are a hotel of city center with its advantages (location, closeness with the train station) and its inconveniences. However, we allow our customers to benefit from 20 % on the public price rate of the parking lot. We hope to welcome you again during a next stay within our charming city of Marseille. Best regards, Olivier B. General Manager

"Good location and did the job nicely"

Bosbillbrad, Bristol, United Kingdom 15/12/2015

We stayed here in September 2015 for four nights. The hotel is located about 15 minutes walk away from Marseille's main train station and is just a stone's throw from the old harbour. Shops, restaurants and the trams are all outside the main entrance although the majority of eating places by the hotel were kebab houses with most restaurants located on the waterfront. The main entrance to the hotel and reception is very small and a little off putting and the room was a little bit on the small side as well . However it was clean and modern looking and we had a nice bathroom as well. We did not have breakfast here but the breakfast room looked very nice and inviting. For the money we paid for our stay we thought it was good value.

Olivier B, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port, responded to this review
Dear Bosbillbrad, Your remarks participate in our progress to the everyday life and we thank you for that. We are delighted that your stay was up to your expectations. Actually, we are ideally situated for a professional stay and on visit of the city. We hope to welcome you again very soon during a next stay within our charming city of Marseille Best regards, Olivier B. General Manager

"Excellent location"

YorkshireFigaro, Yorkshire 17/11/2015

The hotel is located in an interesting area ( certainly not thretening as has been suggested). Very convenient for the station, the Old Port, museums, a local market and plenty of shops. It was also a good price, although breakfast was not included and at 24 euros for two per day would have made it much less competitive if taken. The reception staff were all very nice and helpful. The room was small and unfortunately we were at the side so the 'view' was of the building 2 yards across an alley. It was clean and the beds were comfortable and the kettle was a big plus, although the tea and coffee supplies were of the minimum and not replenished. The only 'table' was a small triangle attached to the wardrobe, which was taken up by the kettle so there was nowhere to put anything, Nice bathroom with an excellent large headed shower and plenty of hot water. Very good wifi. All in all the hotel was good for the price. Very similar to an English budget chain and really should have a similar 2 star rating.

Olivier B, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Marseille Bourse Vieux Port, responded to this review
Cher YorkshireFigaro, Your remarks take forward us, and we thank you for it. Actually, we are ideally placed to visit any charms of our beautiful city of Marseille. Actually, we possess an ideal WIFI connection that the hotel is full or empties. And we are going to increase very soon the debit to benefit of one from the best WIFI debit of the hotels of Marseille. We hope to welcome you again very soon during a stay within our charming city of Marseille. Best regards, Olivier B. General Manager

"Not recommended!"

Dracula720, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada 29/10/2015

Location is on a busy tramway, the reception area has limited space, the room (facing the street with the tramway) is incredibly small (even for European standards), the "desk" is barely large enough for an iPad, the breakfast is minimal (again even for European standards), and to top it all off, there was no hot water for our shower. We checked out after one night and luckily found a much better hotel (at basically the same price). The only positive here was the desk clerk when we checked out: he understood our dissatisfaction and made our departure easier than it may have been.

"Good location, nice personnel, everything else is bad"

User 28/10/2015

Positive : - Great location for the price - Nice personnel who tries to help Negative : - Sound of the tram from the window - Sound of a cleaning truck at 5h30AM everyday - Breakfast too expensive for the quality - Very small lounge - Tables in the room are too small, cant work appropriate

"Not bad for the money"

StueygHarpenden, Harpenden 18/06/2015

Anything that calls itself "Quality" usually isn't. No change here. Stayed on business and thankfully the things that I wanted (a bed and and a decent shower) it had. The room was (honestly) about 25% bigger than the bed (door brilliantly positioned so that you just manage to miss the bed when you open the door) and if you were here for a week and had 2 adult suitcases I would be intrigued to know what you do with your cases. I probably spent all of 1 hour awake in the room (slept well though) and that probably was enough. No UK TV (my French is not bad - but my wife would have struggled for a bit of past-time in the room.... Total cost €99.00 including breakfast so if you're on a budget / young / don't expect much from your hotel - book early. Don't expect 4* and the area is quite run down I thought. Sorry can't say a massive amount positively about Marseille and believe me I LOVE France - but I won't be hurrying back....

This hotel is quite new but lacks most things a hotel needs, no vending machine is just one of the most needed as there are no fridges in the rooms and the maid service was very poor, one day you would get the coffee making items replaced the next day nothing, no loo paper another day and the floor left dirty on another, very few of the listed tv channels were working, would not stay here again.

"Good for money"

Near their harbour. Clean. Very reasonable for the price. Address did not show on my Garmin gps. Advisable to get to know Mrseille. The nearby public park is expensive even with the hotel discount. Not advisable to leave car on the street.

"Good loctaion, very noisy"

Staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel has indeed a very good location as the heart of touristic attractions of Marseille, the old harbor, is within 10 minutes' walk. The train station can also be reached with a 15 minutes' walk. However, the hotel is located on a main street that is very noisy during the day, and also partially in the night depending on night life on the street. A new tram line is passing in the street causing additional noise. I had a room facing the front street as the employees of the hotel told me that the backstreet side is also very noisy in the early morning due to street cleaning vehicles. Sleeping with an open window is not an option, even not with ear plugs. With closed windows ear plugs might be effective enough. Fortunately, the hotel has an air conditioning system that can be used in cooling the room while keeping the window closed. The rooms are also pretty narrow, what is common in France. The whole hotel is narrow as it is a refurbished old building, with the reception desk being only a desk at the entrance of the building. One can get a simple breakfast (croissant + coffee + sometimes an orange juice) for around 5€ in the nearby cafés and bakeries if one does not want t pay the price of the breakfast at the hotel.

"Would stay again."

Helpful and friendly reception staff, speak decent English. Room was small but nice, clean and tidy, and apparently her indoors tells me to write, for the ladies, powerful hairdryer. Breakfast was continental buffet, with all the usual suspects. The location was excellent, station about 10 mins, major bus-stop many different routes @ 50 yds away. Galery Lafayette and shopping centre opposite hotel. The walk to the Vieux Port only 5 mins, where there are copious restaurants and bars, for the location you pay a premium. We took the road train to La Belle Mère at the top of the hill. Also we took a trip on the ferry/tour boat to see the Chateau D'If, from the novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, both enjoyable ways to spend some time,
