Stayed here as it is right next to the John Deere factory which I was visiting. Really good hotel, friendly staff, good food and excellent German beer in the bar. Spotlessly clean room, only slight complaint would be the odd pillow set up, but I'm sure if I had asked they would have rectified that!

"Wonderful staff & very clean"

Stanbro81, Oskaloosa, Iowa 05/09/2019

I stayed here 5 nights for business and this hotel has a lot going for it. PROS: clean room (401), friendly and helpful staff, spotless restrooms, fresh fruit, water and tea available anytime. The supermarket is in the same block and the train station and tram are very close. The Rhine River is very close and there are plenty of walking/biking trails. Easy walk to John Deere Mannheim. No rental car needed. Free wi-fi with strong signal. Plenty of storage for clothes and shoes. Good breakfast. CONS: bed is very firm with one full-size pillow and another tiny one. Duvet is about half the size it needs to be. I am 5'4” and I woke up multiple times needing to rearrange the duvet to cover myself. Only English TV channels are news (maybe 3)? When you stay for a week, that gets old. Side note: I consider myself a BREXIT expert now based on the volume of news Coverage I watched. Had supper one night at the restaurant. It was OK. Server was very good. Will definitely stay again if I travel to Mannheim.

"Nice Stay "

Jelo11, Bettendorf, Iowa 25/02/2019

Stayed at this hotel for a night and enjoyed the experience. Room was average size for Europe and the bed was very comfortable. Property is well cared for and there is underground parking for a fee. Bar is fairly small; yet service was excellent. Worth repeating and recommend.

Well we are on our Central European trip yet again, you may notice we missed last year due to other commitments. We booked a double room several weeks ago. When we arrived we were told it was only for 1 person. Yet we had the confirmation email stating 2 persons. It took over an hour to get things sorted, but when we did get to the room we found a single duvet on a double bed( do not know the reason for this but pretty bad show, some people including me like to have a double duvet on a double bed). We asked for the matter to be rectified whilst we went and had dinner ( we had just driven some 600Km from Le Havre). Yet when we returned nothing had been done We had to raid floor cupboards to get pillows and duvet, we even had to put the pillowcases and duvet cover on ourselves. So instead of best western maybe they should consider rebranding to worst western. Would not recommend.

"Very nice!"

This was a short business trip to Mannheim and John Deere. JD is off in the Lindenhof section of town, so it made sense to stay close to the plant rather than in downtown and I'm please to say it was a good choice. The hotel is an easy walk from the train station and about 1/4 mile from John Deere and is easy to find and access. While I wasn't driving, they are unique in that they offer off-street parking and it is free!. Check in was easy and the rooms are very nice-- spotlessly clean and quiet. The bed was wonderful and firm, and set up with nice duvets. The only downside was that with the warm weather the staff would leave the windows open and with no screens, the first night I found a few mosquito visitors pestering me in the middle of the night. Also, like many properties in Europe, you activate the lights by putting your room card in a receiver by the door, so be careful not to charge out and leave the card behind. Wifi was included and worked okay, but signal was not strong. I ate breakfast a few mornings in the restaurant and it was good -- reasonable selection of euro breakfast classics, and some hot items, but coffee was outstanding!

"Weekend Break"

User 30/06/2018

Hotel located within walking distance of main rail station. Staff pleasant and very helpful would definitely recommend this hotel for either pleasure of business. Good choice for breakfast each morning.

"Pleasant stay"

rahulsnh, Bengaluru, India 28/04/2018

We were a group of 20+ students for Mannheim Business School booked at this hotel. Stay was pleasant, breakfast was good, and staff was very friendly. The hotel is located close to station. There is a Indian Food restaurant down the street. Restaurants and amenities such as laundry are close by.

"Nice and clean hotel"

User 20/01/2018

Moderate size room but really comfortable, the bathroom was really spacious with a huge mirror and power shower that made it hard to get out. The food at the restaurant (breakfast and dinner) was not really nice that's why we are not giving 5 stars. Except that, good location near the train station and a shopping mall a few minutes away.

"Well done!"

User 14/11/2017

A nice hotel to stay in for business. Close to the train station, food, the river, and the city. Clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. The breakfast bar has a multitude of choices and is a great start to the day.

"Very nice hotel with friendly service"

Ricardo L, Bettendorf, IA, United States 12/09/2017

Rooms are small but nice & clean. There is only one elevator and it gets busy in the morning. Breakfast is excellent. It has also restaurant and bar (closed on Sundays). WiFi is free and has a strong signal even in the sixth (upper) floor.

"Mannheim Wine Fest trip!"

"Very nice hotel!"

Ken S, Le Claire, Iowa 12/03/2017

I have stayed at the LanzCarre many times while in Mannheim for business. The hotel is comfortable and has a great proximity to the train station, downtown and many other Mannheim locals. The hotel features a restaurant and lounge area along with a workout facility.

"Location "

Bobber123, Cedar Falls, Iowa 12/03/2017

In Mannheim for business. The LanzCarre location is perfect for me as it's a short walk from the main train station and even shorter walk to John Deere Werk. The hotel is modern and clean. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The good: friendly and professional staff, location, cleanliness, spacious (for Europe) rooms, breakfast buffet selection. The not-so-good: many of the TV channels never actually work. The breakfast is quite expensive. For my particular liking, the beds are too firm. Overall, a good place to stay while in Mannheim.

Helpme10_12, Teramo, Italy 16/02/2017

As usual good service. Professional and very friendly reception services, good restaurant and wifi working perfectly. I have been not so fully satisfied about cleanness of the coverlet (some hair probably not properly removed with the washing) but I know it's an episode and was anyhow fine. I'll be there again in thebfuture. Very close to the train station.

"Excellent Hotel in Mannheim"

MCR1952, High Wycombe, United Kingdom 19/11/2016

I stayed one night ( business trip) at this hotel, booked by company. It was very new, very nice, an excellent hotel. Room I had, had everything I wanted, it was very modern and very clean. My only concern was you really needed to get a taxi from the centre of town ( about €15) but that aside the restaurant looked good, I had one dessert which was excellent and the one glass of wine was just as good and not very expensive. I would certainly stay again and I would certainly recommend for others.

"Location, Location, Location"

C102QNandrewm, Dunkerton, Iowa 26/10/2016

Just a 5 minute walk from the main train station in Mannheim and just a 3 minute walk into the John Deere facilities, this properties location is ideal if doing business with/for John Deere. If you are visiting for pleasure, then this is a good place to stay in Mannheim, as well, because 5 minutes back to the train station and then just beyond the train station opens to the downtown Mannheim area, yet you'll get a better price per night than staying in many of the downtown hotels.

"Consistently excellent experience"

kevin2oh, Tianjin, China 11/10/2016

Everything is always right. Wifi is reasonably reliable and fast, accommodations good, but not spacious. Restaurant is good at feeding you at odd hours. Opportunities for improvement: Towels, could be better, washcloths, they have disappeared throughout Europe, more comfortable bed.

"Nice, clean hotel"

Dieter R, Sundbyberg, Sweden 18/07/2016

Lanz Carre is a nice hotel, friendly staff not far from Mannheim train station. City center is not far away, but on the other side of the train station. It is clean and well kept and I can recommend it.

"Everything fine!"

Helpme10_12, Teramo, Italy 14/07/2016

Very good experience. I had professional service, found clean rooms, had good breakfast. It's a very quite hotel. 10/15 minutes far from the city center by walk. Free WiFi available, and if you're there by car, internal parking available. Suggested

"Very helpful"

Klaus Dieter S, Frankfurt, Germany 19/06/2016

Very friendly staff always there to help. Kitchen, Restaurant opened early to get us a meal as had to go to a performance and wanted something to eat prior. Steak was done to perfection. Clean and spacious room, bed comfortable and the breakfast was good. Suitable to business travellers

"Good hotel and good location!"

Ken S, Le Claire, Iowa 23/05/2016

I have stayed at the Hotel LanzCarre many times while on business in Mannheim. The hotel is very good, with friendly staff, good accommodations and a good restaurant. The hotel is conveniently located close to the John Deere Mannheim Werkes and is within walking distance of the train station and downtown Mannheim. This is a German hotel so you need to expect European accommodations and not US accommodations! But overall it is very nice and I will stay there every time I am in Mannheim.

shrimp2016, Edmonton, Canada 18/05/2016

The very friendly staff at this hotel made our stay very enjoyable. This hotel met all our needs. Great breakfast in the morning, great location and the rooms where awesome, clean and quiet. The staff answered all our questions and did everything they could to make our stay perfect! Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Mannheim.

"Excellent modern hotel"

charliepob, Surrey 01/12/2015

Came here to visit some friends, excellent small modern hotel with friendly staff also reasonably priced, breakfast was also very good, overall very good budget hotel, would highly recommend to people who want a clean quiet no frills hotel.

"Nice hotel"

Yogs P, Pune 02/10/2015

Nice hotel. Rooms are very clean. Non smoking rooms has scary warning that if the fire alarm rang 150 Euro fine plus fire brigade charges if they call also make sure close the bathroom while taking bath so hot steam may not activate it which is really unnecessary and make you much precautions. Except that overall good experience. Prices little higher side. Rooms equipped with air conditioners. Check in time too late 3 pm and they won't checl in early will say we are fully booked so if you are early either you have leave luggage at reception or pay early check in charges. Also check out time 11 am so if you want to stay one day. You will get only 20 hours stay not full day.

"Special celebration"

Jay E M, Lenexa, United States 29/08/2015

This hotel is easily walking distance from Mannheim train station and to downtown restaurants and shops. It is very well maintained and the staff are very professional. The staff in the bar/lounge helped celebrate a collegues 50th birthday by serving cake and champaign, a pleasant surprise. I will definitely stay at this hotel when in Mannheim.

"Expensive hotel with impolite staff and without a minibar!"

User 06/08/2015

I booked this hotel for my parents 2 months in advance since it was the only decent looking one in my neighborhood. The location is convenient since it is close to the main station, but not noisy at all. As we arrived, the receptionist claimed that I have reserved the room for one person instead of two and I had to pay 30 euros extra per night. Aside from the general rule that a room costs the same no matter how many people are in it, I have told her that it had been booked for 2 people. After a couple of minutes of argument she checked her computer and confirmed that I was right. Then she gave a room with 2 separate beds and I kindly requested that I wanted a room with a queen or king size bed (for two people). As an answer, she told me that I can push the beds together. I asked her that I demand a proper room with a bigger bed and only after then she cooperated. The new room had blankets for only 1 person, so I had to deal with the receptionist one more. Those 20 minutes were quite annoying, although one expects a pleasant experience at such a hotel. Later we realized that a hotel described in the "luxury" category here does not have a minibar. With an outside temperature of 40 degrees, we were lucky enough to have air conditioning! When I asked why there was no fridge, they said it was the decision of the management and if I wish I could book a room at the sister hotel where they should have minibars in rooms. All in all, I paid 450 Euros for 3 nights for a hotel without a minibar and awfully impolite staff. I just do not recommend this place!

"Play safe hotel"

User 27/06/2015

Nothing extraordinary just clean, functioning and modern hotel. So something that you should choose if getting a good sleep is the most important thing. Nice service and good (european) breakfast. Peaceful location a bit far from the city centre. Tram stop is close to hotel. Supermarket can be found from the same block.

"Clean, comfortable, and close to work"

JLC_57, Rock Island, IL 22/03/2015

I've stayed here several times while on business. It's walking distance to John Deere so I don't need to rent a car. The staff is very helpful. Room is normal for Europe - a little small, but functional. WiFi is good and included with our corporate rate. The last time I stayed here we had to work several hours from the hotel over the weekend and the staff had no issues with us sitting in the bar area until 2am. Excellent breakfast, yes it's pricey, but no more than any other hotel in Mannheim. I have stayed in several hotels in Mannheim and this one is the nicest and most convenient.
