    « Beautiful Location »

We stayed at this hotel overnight. This hotel is located downtown Mammoth close to the ski resorts, shopping and sightseeing. The hotel is somewhat not very visible due to signage (Best Western) is almost non existent. Could have better sign. The rooms have all been renovated and are truly first rate. Newness is so pleasant to experience. The rooms are extremely nice. The front desk staff is OK and needs to better accommodate guests with directions to their room location. The indoor pool and hot tub are great after a long day of driving or skiing. The restaurant staff during breakfast, Arturo and Armando were very pleasant, caring and comforting. Excellent breakfast room staff. They made our departure wonderful! Love to stay here again!

    « Great updated rooms »

The rooms are nicely updated with hardwood/laminate floors. The lobby is being remodeled so it's a bit cramp but I assume it will be great once it is finished. The hallways have not been updated as of lately so it still has old carpeting. The complimentary breakfast was great. Location seems to be within 10-15 minute drive to Twin Lakes or Mammoth Main Lodge Ski resort.

« Enjoyable place with nice breakfast »

We enjoyed our stay while skiing Mammoth. The hotel is basic but clean and quite adequate. The free breakfast was very good and kitchen staff were attentive and pleasant. The front desk was not always staffed or attendants disappeared times, forcing a wait. Making available a simple tips sheet for getting to and navigating the entry points to the ski area would help. We drive as it appeared most did. Buses should be the better option if the signage and guidance to use were more prevalent. All told I would stay here again.

    « Best Western Mammoth »

Clean rooms, helpful staff, nice indoor pool and hot tub, very good breakfast. We have stayed at this hotel many times over the past 10 years and it has consistently been a great stay. We will stay here again.

    « 2 nights stay »

Center location, next to gas station, shops, restaurants with free parking. Rooms are newly remodeled, comfortable, no carpet, premium beds and linens. Rooms has fridge, micro, coffee maker with gourmet tea/coffee selection and bottled water. Hotel has nice sized indoor pool, small fitness center and spa. It would be nice to have a sauna for a ski resort town. Complimentary hot breakfast offered with made to order eggs and full breakfast bar. Would be nice to have espresso drinks, but next door there is a small gourmet Cafe. There is a hotel restaurant which offers 10% discount to hotel guests, however not much ambiance, no music, or great menu to speak of, so we dined at one of the best gourmet restaurant in Mammoth: Petra's restaurant just accross from the Village complex. Lobby was under construction while we stayed. This hotel is a good value if you like comfortable rooms, however if you are looking for a great lobby with a fire place, or a nice bar and restaurant, you would be disappointed. However this hotel is close to all.

    « Poor »

Reported problem with room heating system on 1st night of stay. Hotel's response was to just switch it off. Heating would either blast high temp or nothing at all. Stayed with 3 young kids and the nights were awful (either far too hot or too cold). Forced to bring sleeping bags from car to keep kids warm as room too uncomfortable to sleep in with heating on. Ice on the windows in the morning and staff didn't really care about the issue. Hotel given the opportunity to fix this but did nothing. Very unhappy.

    « Usually Best Western... »

Stayed in a few in the US now, and they all seem of a similar standard. Our room had been updated and was pretty nice. It had a good TV, with a few decent channels, although it was missing a few digital channels (no Discovery or Nat Geo for example). The bed was modern but hard and seemed to have 1 dollar pillows accompanying it - these were small and lumpy. The bathroom was large and in good order. The room, as many of the cheaper hotels suffered with a paper-thin ceiling. Every morning we were woken with heavy ceiling noise from above. Breakfast was very basic, but did. The hot tub and pool area was pretty good with towels and changing area. The tub was hot and powerful and the pool was clean, however it was all let down by clumps of hair all over the floor. A basic daily clean could have fixed this - unfortunate. It was well located for restaurants and bars but a good walk to the gondola. Not a walk I would undertake in snowboarding boots unless I had to, and never in ski boots.

    « Just overnight »

In just a random decision we thought let's stay in Mammoth. While they can't control weather or road condition updates, we made it!! The previously complained about renovations were nearly completed (just lobby area left)..as you can see from my included pictures the rooms are done very well and we were comfortable. I checked road conditions and actually called ahead to inquire about the renovations...some of you coming during ski season might want to check into these things (chains required!?). Pizza place close by and a restaurant which does breakfast and dinner (in the hotel) make things simple if you want. Also just a short walk to the fire station (on your left) is a bus stop which will take you to many places in town.

    « No sympathy »

I tried cancelling my hotel within the two weeks cancellation policy due to a death in the family. The manager (Lucero) was so unreasonable and SO unsympathetic. She ended up cancelling my reservation without any assistance to change my reservation to another date. I tried calling back, was put on hold for over an hour so I just gave up. My credit card was charged full rate for two days and no hotel. Whoever the manager at this hotel is is very unethical, probably a Non-believer in empathy and God, who doesn't understand how to satisfy their customers. This is a recipe for a going out of business hotel. I wish they lived by the Golden Rule.

    3
    « Decent choice, despite the on-going re-modeling »

Finding a decent well priced place in Mammoth is tough, In this case the pro's were a competitive rate with AAA discount, an excellent breakfast and a nicely remodeled room. Despite the signs of building work in the lobby, I preferred the Best Western to the Quality Inn up the road. The room, breakfast and location are better. However, I would check the price, and try to get an idea of what sort of room you are getting. My room had a king bed and chaise sofa that could sleep one. I think 2 adults and a kid would be fine, assuming you didn't have tons of ski gear. The location is convenient for the shuttle to the village and slopes, Von's and plenty of places to eat are within walking distance.

« False room description - bad service »

The hotel is going through renovations, as others have mentioned. That's OK - things like this happen. The problem is that the hotel is also FALSELY ADVERTISING the basic description of the rooms. I booked the only two-bedroom (king-beds) room in the hotel. Prior to booking, I checked their website, which showed pictures of a nice room, and specifically mentioned/show: * Full kitchen with larger refrigerator, oven/stove, dishwasher, and pots/pans for a basic meal * One bathroom with large tub * Toaster is shown in pictures * Pictures show a room with nice decor and wall hangings However, the hotel DID NOT update the pictures and text on the website showing the description of the rooms. The room I actually received: * DID NOT have a dishwasher as advertised * DID NOT have a bathtub as advertised * DID NOT have a toaster as advertised * DID NOT have any decor in the room (no paintings as was shown in pictures - all walls were empty and room looked like a dungeon) Furthermore, the hotel website failed to mention (with a text description) that the bedrooms in this 2-bedroom suite DID NOT have exterior windows (only small windows into the living room). That's a big detail to omit. The online pictures were taken in such a manner to make it look like the windows were exterior facing windows, but they were not. The receptionist agreed, when I showed them the pictures, that it was not clear. Even as I write this review, the hotel website is still falsely advertising the basic description of this room. When I spoke with the manager, they would not offer a partial refund for this. Instead, they said they do not control the text description on the website. Seriously? And no effort was made to reach out to me prior to my stay to inform me of this gross misrepresentation (the hotel says they made an effort, but I certainly was not notified). I tried finding another property to stay in, but having arrived at 6pm on Sunday, there was no way to quickly find and move to a new hotel with a 2-bedroom suite at a comparable price. The hotel did offer to let me off the reservation from the second night, but I decided to stick it out, enjoy the skiing, and try not to think about this bad lodging experience. Anyways, I guess I should have expected this from Best Western; not exactly a hotel chain known for consistently good quality. Sometimes they are good, sometimes they fall off the wagon like this. On the upside, the breakfast and breakfast staff are good! But still leaving a one-star review for bad customer service and totally false advertising.

    « Bad customer service »

Do not book this hotel if you are flying in or if there is any risk you cannot make it there due to weather. My flight was cancelled while I was at the airport due to poor visibility. I called hotel and they did not display any sympathy. Often good hotels would not charge for no show when it is due to the weather. This hotel charged me for 2 nights, rather than just first night. I am also a diamond member with Best Western, but hotel staff does not seem to care at all. I won't be staying at this property during my next visit to Mammoth.

    3
« Average Hotel at Mammoth Lakes »

Will not book it, most likely, in the future unless the price will be well below the other places. We had issues with check-in, booked a room for 4 people and got the room for 3. It took a few hours for the staff to install a crappy folding bed. It was too small for my teenager son. The heater was also bad, too much noise from other rooms, it took the staff a few hours to resolve the issue.

    « Misrepresented, deceptive, unhelpful »

On 1/3/18 I arrived at the Best Western where I had reserved a three night stay. The facility was nothing like it had been advertised. There was construction going on outside the rooms, molding was gone, floors were ripped up, and there was a pervasive smell of plaster and paint. I checked out a key to inspect a room, found it unsatisfactory, requested another room, and that room as well did not meet the description of the facilities that were online when the room was booked. The front desk was unpleasant and unhelpful, the management pointed the finger at the booking agency. When the booking agency requested a refund from the hotel the hotel refused. I was also told that once I had signed for a key I could not get a refund which is ridiculous since I needed a key to inspect the rooms. I was able supposedly to get a refund finally for two of the nights but for one night we are forced to stay in a room filled with noxious orders, surrounded by debris and construction equipment. I'd like a full refund and an apology from owners but I will never get that. I submitted a claim to Citibank and the BBB.

    « balck mold/ construction »

I checked in on Tuesday jan 2 construction going on everywhere that nobody every told me about paying over $200 a night I would expect a nice quiet place not the case more noise at night wifi sucks the people in the front desk bad attitude black mold everywhere dont stay here unless you like black mold bad sleep and poor wifi.

    4
    « Clean and comfortable »

The facade of the hotel looks old but we were surprised that our room is very clean and updated with contemporary design. I have allergies so I really liked that the flooring is not carpeted. My teenage kids were very satisfied with the made to order pancakes and eggs. We'll definitely be back here if we are in Mammoth area.

« High price and low service and overall quality »

I am a Best Western Member and usually go to Best Western when I travel. I am sad to say that this was my worst experience in a Best Western. My first problems started getting charged, even if my first reservations were cancelled by far before due date. It took me several hours and days to get this problem fixed. The first calls I made I was treated as an idiot .. even if the mistake was of Best Western and not mine. During our stay there were loud noises during the evening and early night so we could not sleep. The front desk didn't help much. The Wi Fi was not working all the time , the Thermostat was not working .. . Very high price and a very low level of quality and hospitality unfortunately !!

« Used to be wonderful.... »

I've been staying at this hotel for 3 years. I used to love staying here however the recent remodel has left the hotel feeling sterile, dreary and uncomfortable. They have replaced the in room carpet with laminate/faux wood flooring and it leaves the rooms feeling cold. The floors are uneven and the new flooring cause the rooms and hallways to echo. The staff and breakfast were wonderful as usual but due to the recent changes this most recent stay will be my last.

« Great family ski base »

We have been staying at this hotel on ski trips for several years now and find it is great for families. First of all they have reasonably sized comfortable rooms. Important for post-skiing, the showers work really well and the beds are comfortable. Plus for the kids they have a nice indoor pool, and for kids and sore adults alike, a good sized hot tub. That included breakfast is actually one of the few Breakfasts in a moderately priced hotel that is actually worthwhile. Eggs and pancakes to order, Fresh fruit that is well-selected and tasty. I would appreciate a good whole grain bread for toast (especially at a hotel where presumably health conscious folks are staying) but that's my only complaint. Coffee from mybsnob's perspective isn't great but it bad for buffet coffee. However, Stellar Brew and Natural Cafe is right beyond the Chevron Station next door, and their espresso drinks rival my Mammoth fave Looney Beans. We find thelocation to be good for skiing needs, right around the corner from Kittridge sports for ski rental, and just a half block beyond Kittredge for a tram stop to the resort. I found the WiFi fine for my basic needs, but my teen boys couldn't use it for on-line gaming. (Try the WiFi at the library nearby if your kids complain too much and it's before 7 on a weekday).

« Nice hotel and location »

Its quite a nice hotel with good amenities and comes handy in regards to having an indoor pool and Jacuzzi considering weather environment in winter time in Mammoth, however, at same time should reflect that this hotel is going through renovations at this time, thus, it was not appealing. Some of the new décor and material used is not of best choice in my opinion and making room look dark. Our room A/C unit/heater was very loud and had to turn off at night in order to be able to sleep.

    5
    « Fantastic Stay »

It appears this hotel and just been remodeled. Our room was extremely clean. The room was great. Tons of storage, new microwave and mini-frig, keurig, great bed and super cute. Everyone that helped was was very friendly. The breakfast area is great too. Lots of food to choose from (fresh eggs and pancakes made to order, freshly made breakfast potatoes, fresh cut fruit, english muffins, cereal, and great coffee!) I was so happy with my decision to book online at this Best Western in Mammoth!

    « Good value »

Under construction and no restaurant on site, but very friendly and helpful staff. Location close to everything. Poor lighting in the room, very clean so that was great. Could walk to dinner or shopping if it wasn't so cold outside.

« Rooms Are Like Dungeons »

Rooms renovated with hard surface floors. Echoey and cold. Large hole in bathroom wall with exposed wiring. I am a BW Platinum Member and stay at the High Sierra once or twice a year for the past 12 years. Always had been inviting, comfortable and warm. The new renovations made the rooms like dungeons. According to the GM this was done to save money on cleaning from bikes and pets. I'll never stay here again.

    5
« Very clean, comfortable, kind and courteous! »

Will definitely stay again. Everything we needed. Close to everything newly remodeled was beautiful! Jordyn and Arturo were very accommodating. Laundry was helpful. Breakfast was great. Having hot n cold menu items was great. And delicious! A great assortment and was nice to have eggs n pancakes made to order. Thank u!

    2
« Front desk staff are horrible. »

This hotel itself is nice & undergoing renovations. Room was clean, tv didn't get any signal so most channels didn't come in, shower was hot. Location was good, close to stores & gas station. Front desk employees are rude & didn't care anything about customer service or showing respect to clients. I didn't even get to try the breakfast because I just had enough of the rudeness from their staff that I wanted just to leave asap.

    2
    « Dirty Room »

This hotel seems nice for a Best Western. It has three floors, a large indoor swimming pool and a nice, big area for breakfast with eggs and pancakes to order. The problem was the cleaniness of the room. Our fridge had old leftovers in it, there was a lot of hair in the shower and there were dirty washcloths hung over the shower rod. It was gross.

« Good Hotel in Mammoth Lake »

While traveling to Tahoe, we stopped in Mammoth Lakes for the night. Of all the hotels on Trip Advisor, I thought this was the best one. If you ski, or not this would be a good choice. Included was a microwave and refrigerator, very useful. They have an indoor pool wish I would imagine would be great after a day on the slopes.

    5
    « Fantastic »

This Hotel is always consistent. Great rooms, and the Best Breakfast. The entire staff is friendly and eager to answer any and all of our questions. Great selection of coffee/hot chocolate/tea in the room. Organic, GMO , dairy free and gluten free. Delicious.

    2
« Outdated. How did hotel get high reviews? »

How did hotel get such high reviews. Paid extra because of good reviews only to feel tricked. Could have stayed in a motel six. Nothing cheery about this hotel. Heater air conditioner noisy. This has happened to me before on Trip Advisor.

    5
« Very nice hotel in the mountains »

Currently in renovation stage. Breakfast area is very nice and the food very good. Fresh fruit each morning. Did you ever notice big state governments keep making the same mistakes every 20 years.? Question - should their be a qualification exam before a person can run for the senate or house?

    5
    « LOVE IT »

The front desk lady was the nicest person I've ever met in a hotel. She was super helpful and offered a great deal of restaurants for my spouse and I to try. The hotel was super clean and inviting, as well as quiet. Wanted to go in the hotub, but unfortunately it was down (which isn't a big deal they had a great indoor pool). Parking was great, but I could definitely see it being more hectic during on-season. It's in the middle of town too, so you're never far from anything. Had a great experience here!

    3
« Unfriendly except the kitchen employees »

You are charged if you don't return the hotel room keys. There is no public restroom except behind locked pool room door. The bed was poor. Both my husband and I felt that our feet were higher than our heads when we laid down to sleep and both of us woke up with stiff necks and headaches. Kitchen staff are very nice and cheerful! Buffet breakfast and made to order eggs and pancakes is wonderful. Everything is nice and CLEAN in the kitchen area. This hotel is in the middle of a remodel.

    5
    « I just loved this place!! »

This has to be one of the best hotels I've stayed in! I know what you might be thinking, "Is she nuts? It's just a Best Western!!!" Yes. I know it's "just" a Best Western. But look, I loved my stay here and here's why: - The breakfast: I was not expecting this. This BW has your typical hotel breakfast buffet stuff, BUT they have a cook who will make made-to-order eggs/omelettes and pancakes! It's so awesome! And the cook was such a nice guy -- he'd bring us out our order, even though he didn't have to! The breakfast area is very modern and new, with plenty of seating. - They are undergoing a remodel on the first floor but they still let you access the fitness center, pool/hot tub (very clean and has bathrooms with a private shower) and laundry. - Location: Great location in the center of everything. I suppose if you're coming here to ski, it's not the best, but we came to explore/hike so we were happy. It is tough to find this hotel - the sign is very small and faintly lit and your car GPS gets very confused. Look for the Chevron station; it's right behind it. It's also right across from Schatt's Bakery (Mmmm!!) too! - Room was large, clean, no issues. Has a fridge - Staff was fantastic - especially the breakfast cook! Just loved him! - Easy parking I go to Mammoth every year and I will be staying here on my next trip!!

« Met all expectations of a great hotel »

Excellent check in, very quick and no waiting. Room met all expectations with no issues. The breakfast was fantastic. Not the typical quick breakfast buffet but a made to order eggs and pancakes. I wish all motels would be like this one.

    4
    « Good qualityHotel »

Very nice Hotel, good location. Staff was extremly helpfull and cheerfull. Breakfast was also very good with high quality products. There is even a diner sort of setting in the breakfast room where you get pancakes and eggs prepared fresh upon order. Room was clean and well equipped as expected from a BW. We had the suite with a bunk bed. Adults can easily fit even the heavier amongst us, believe me we tried.

    2
    « A hot night »

Yes, they're going through a renovation. The location was great and so was the breakfast. But we had a horrible night because there are 2 thermostats in the room and neither one seemed to control the heater beneath the window. The one on the wall was set at a steaming 74. We tried to set it to 67, following the simple directions, but it wouldn't budge from 74. In the middle of the night, we woke up miserably hot and had to turn the lights on to shut the whole heater off because the temp control on the actual heater wouldn't respond either. It was 27 degrees outside or we would have left the window open. We've never seen a setup like this and hope to never again.

« Normally a good hotel, but not at this time. »

A good hotel, have stayed there several times. However they were renovating their hotel at this time so would not recommend going there during their renovation period. They do not have adequate parking during this period, which is a problem since there isn't other parking nearby.

    4
    « Enjoyable stay »

Nice place. Outside doors on both levels which is helpful. Some covered parking. Good pool with jacuzzi. Good room. No restaurant that we saw, but convenient for local restaurants. The breakfast experience was excellent.

    « Review of hotel »

My stay at the hotel was very enjoyable. The staff was excellent. Even though the hotel is going through a massive renovation the staff did everything they could to make your stay an enjoyable experience. The setting of the hotel is stunning and everything relating to my stay far exceeded my expectations.

« Super location, amenities, breakfast »

Although hard to find given the Best Western sign is obscured from the road by renovations of a gas station in front of the facility, and tucked in behind it, we were rewarded for our efforts by way of our pleasant surprise by the quality of this hotel, and our double queen bed room. With plenty of parking, (some covered) and a few spaces large enough to accomodate our large Dodge Ram 3500 turbo diesel pickup, check in was a breeze. While the woman at the check in counter that afternoon could have been friendlier, (we kind of went, "Uh oh....") (which is why we rated 4 stars as first impressions are everything); we were relieved to discover excellent customer service by most of the staff, especially another young lady at the check in counter the following morning who was incredibly customer service oriented, welcoming, and accomodating when we asked to extend our stay. Also an exceptionally friendly young man at the counter. Kudos to the hard working cleaning staff; our room was immaculate, and they were most attentive to our needs throughout our three night stay and we were more than thrilled to leave a tip for them. The hotel is undergoing renovations, but do everything they can to ensure the least possible inconvenience, and there were few. Apparently, the hotel is upgrading to deluxe status, but hopefully the room rates don't increase too much as they are already quite high. Breakfast is outstanding, lovely dining room with a coffee/juice area, as well as a place to make your toast, or get muffins and scones, fresh fruit and cereal. Attentive cooks make your eggs to order, and expertly so! Delicious and perfect over-easy for me, my son had scrambled, my sister had poached. Floor staff in the immaculate dining room are super friendly, and engaging, so we always looked forward to our mornings! We used the pool and hot tub once, clean change rooms and showers, and well-run facility! All in all, a great place to stay and convenient to the highway, shops, restaurants, and anything else you might need. We loved our time there so much, we almost bought the company! Lol. Thanks Best Western for coming through for us at this facility!

    « Very comfortable »

Good hotel. Late night walk in booking was fine. Loved the pool and spa. Under construction so reviews may be downgraded a bit right now. It didn't bother us none but was rough on ground floor in one wing. I would definitely stay here again.

« Nice Place To Stay »

This was an unexpected check in. My husband and I were traveling and due to medical reasons we stopped in Mammoth. Nice hotel and the staff that checked me in at 2:00am was very kind and made sure I had a room with a good rate. My husband ended up in the hospital overnight and this hotel I was comfortable with staying by myself. I felt safe and secure.

« Very bad experience - please stay away! »

We had a decent experience in other best western hotels, so We decided to go ahead with Best Western at Mammoth lakes, CA. If we had any clue how badly management here treats customers, we would have stayed away from booking here. When we checked in on Friday evening, the receptionist charged an additional deposit of $25 which is not ?usual' in other hotels. We left for sightseeing on Saturday around 10.30 am and within 10 minutes we got a call from Hotel. Due to poor reception in Mammoth Lakes Area, call went to voicemail. It was Hotel front desk staff ?warning ? us that a Bluetooth beacon (see photo) is missing from our room and if that item is not recovered by the time we checked out, we will be charged. We were totally shocked. We dint have any clue what that device is and what is it used for. (Later we got to know it is used to keep track of housekeeping folks) We called back the front desk staff Jordan and he said since the beacon is not found by housekeeping folks after we left we will be charged. We had all our luggage in the room which is far more valuable than that beacon. We informed Jordan that we will come back to hotel in evening and speak to manager. Guess what, our meeting with manager was even more disastrous. It seems hotel staff was able to find that beacon in the room magically after we had told them we don't know about it. Manager Bret was so casual about apologizing and said he just trusted his staff as soon as they said beacon was missing and jumped to conclusion that guests could have taken it - who have all their luggage still in the room. Also, he said they have to leave guests such scathing messages just so that they call back. And had they not found the device, they would have anyway charged us! Such a racket, they are just trying to rip you off at every opportunity! We were disappointed that we chose such a Hotel who has no respect for customers and people in general. Stay away if you want to have a hassle free vacation. When we asked him about the way we were treat and assumed guests stole something without checking thoroughly, his answer was something like - we see a lot is such people.

Our family of four stayed three nights. Very Clean, great breakfast-eggs cooked to order, good variety of meats and cheeses to choose from, very nice friendly staff. Many Europeans were staying at this location. This was one of the nicest Best Westerns we've stayed at. Great location--directly across the street from Schat's Bakery.

    « Nice Hotel »

We stayed here four nights. The hotel is in a prime location, with an easy access to several great location and restaurants. It is off the road and hidden behind a gas station with a small sign out in front. The booked King Suite in the Third Floor was spacious ,quiet and has a comfortable beds,Plenty of amenities, and the in-room Internet is quick as well.the only problem is the Safe was in Bad Location. breakfast was cooked-to-order,eggs and hot pancake .the food selection was good, restaurant Area small and it might be full with people in Rush Seasons. Staff very professional and helpful . Overall, the rate is reasonable, and we enjoyed the stay at Mammoth Lakes Best Western.

« Pretty good but room for improvement! »

Best Western Plus is usually a very reliable brand. There's a funky smell when you enter the lobby and it continues through all the hallways. The room was clean and in decent repair. The air conditioner was a little strange... we couldn't get it to work properly so eventually just turned it off and opened the window. Linen was a little worn with one of the beds having a sheet with small holes. Although the room compendium states that there's 24hr coffee available in the lobby, there's actually no coffee available other than what you have in your room. They obviously need to be updated. Beds were VERY soft, although I know that bedding is always a personal thing. Pool and spa were clean and well maintained. The pool towels were hilariously small though... more like a small gym towel. Breakfast was excellent with everything you could wish for and even eggs cooked to order. Overall we enjoyed our stay. There are some renovations happening here at present with some updates which are much needed. The updates should help to bring this hotel up to the usual Best Western Plus level. I would stay here again if in the area.

This hotel was clean, well appointed and service was great. The breakfast was very nice and again, great service. A bit hard to find as there was construction in front of it and it's behind a gas station. I would highly recommend it.

« NICE MAMMOTH LOCATION, GREAT STAY »

The Best Western Plus in Mammoth is a nice motel that is going thru some removations. The room was very quiet and the ammenities worked well. The in room internet was pretty fast. We stayed a week and found the room cleaning a little lax some of the days, nothing major a few little things, for a Plus location we expected a bit better. The free breakfast is amazing, they have a cook present to cook you eggs and pancakes to order. The buffet selections are amazing with lots of fruit, country potatoes, bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs every day. They have some fantastic muffins to choose from. There are some places to eat across the street and lots more within about a mile. The motel is almost in the center of Mammoth Lakes. The beds were comfortable, the room is nice and clean and layed out good. We would prefer if there was a night stand on both sides of the beds though. There is USB charging at one of the tables. We are quite pleased with our week long stay.

We, three adults, stayed in the family room with a king bed and a bunk bed. The room was nice and friendly, equipped with a refrigerator, two TV sets, coffees maker and a big jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The whole room was very clean. The bunk bed is super sturdy and an adult (even a big adult) can easily sleep here. The breakfast is super! Eggs and pancakes made to order and everything else on the buffet. Super fresh and with healthy options as well. But what stood out moste is the friendlies of every single employee we have meet here and especially in the breakfast room. The pool is indoor and warm and really not used by a lot of people. I would definitely recommend the hotel!

« Everything we expected and more »

We stay almost exclusively at Best Western Hotels so we usually know what to expect. Here at the High Sierra we found (although in middle of updating facilities) everything to our satisfaction. As others have noted the breakfast is top notch. Cooked to order eggs and pancakes as well as the usual sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, cereal (including my favorite sugar frosted flakes), OJ, coffee, english muffins. We found plenty of seating for breakfast. The bed was very comfortable. The staff generally friendly. We enjoyed having a refrig and microwave, as well as coffee maker in the room. Centrally located in Mammoth. We could walk to dinner, local pharmacy, etc. Didn't get to use indoor pool and spa but looked fine with 2 private restrooms adjacent. Exercise room small but adequate. One problem I had was trying to hook my laptop of to flatscreen (to watch Netflix) because no "input" button on the remote in the room nor on the TV set that I could find. I spoke with front desk about this and was given an "LG" TV remote to use which did the trick. We would stay here next time in the Mammoth area if not just for the breakfast. After reading some of the reviews and especially being required to pre-checkin online and initial that we would pay for all 3 days we had booked, I was a bit concerned but nothing became of that and we were satisfied with our stay.

« Best Western Plus Mammoth Lakes »

The hotel is dated and needs renovation. The room was OK but really overpriced. I wouldn't stay there again. The breakfast was the highlight of the stay. Great omelettes, bacon and pancakes. The hotel is stuck behind a gas station and car wash that is being torn apart and remodeled. This hotel could use the same treatment.

« Great place to stay »

The rooms were spacious and the breakfast was the best motel breakfast we ever had. The location was quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The maid did heroic work getting around our piles of stuff to keep the room ship shape. Highly recommended!

« Good hotel, lovely brewkfast »

We stayed here for one night on route between San Francisco and Las Vegas. We arrived late so we didn't get the chance to try out the facilities (swimming pool, gym), but generally the hotel looked good with lots to do. Obviously well geared up for the winter skiing season. Easy to find, and decent parking available (no extra charge here). Whilst the decor is not particularly eye-catching, the hotel is clean and tidy. Our room had two double beds (we are a family of three with an 18 year old daughter), both of which were very comfortable. There were coffee making facilities in the room. The jewel in the crown was breakfast which was varied, included in the room cost, and had the option of freshly cooked pancakes and eggs. We unashamedly indulged! Really good! Service here was top notch, as was the service provided by the front of house staff. Well done! So, yes, recommended based on our limited experience. The town is nice too, got everything you need. We would definitely return.

« Why do we return to Best Western Hotels »

For the past many years when we traveled for business or pleasure in the States or Europe we choose Best Western, its like staying with family. Always a warm welcome, comfortable rooms, great breakfast, and best prices, [biggest bang for our buck] At Mammoth Lakes, the hotel is partially hidden by the Chevron gas station and car wash. This hotel is newly remodeled including rooms and bathrooms. Very impressive. The experience of breakfast will make you extend your stay.

I was in the Grand Fondo bicycle rally, right down the street from the start. Jacuzzi was great after the ride, plenty of great eating places with in walking distance. Beautiful location, nice pool, fitness center is very small. Staff is really nice. Breakfast was excellent.

    « Spacious rooms. »

Stayed 5 nights here this August 2017. First time to Mammoth Lakes . Travelled with our grandson and son, so we had a king suite with bunk beds separated by a wall. Everything was fine. Housekeeping was probably a little on the spare side, but as we had a 4-year old and a busy schedule, maybe OK! Great location close to stores, restaurants. The town of Mammoth and the lakes are amazingly beautiful, and there is public transportation (trolleys) to go up the mountain. Be careful as you book this site, as you are redirected to a third party site...

    « Average »

Average best western, really need to do a better job of cleaning the rooms and not allowing smoking in rooms , just because they sell out doesn't mean that they can just not do a better job of maintaining the hotel . Best western has a reputation for quality and this Hotel does not meet that standard.

« Best Western Mammoth Lakes »

Came here for Labor Day weekend. The hotel is centrally located in town just across the street from Slocums restaurant. The room was clean and comfortable. Since I had a handicap room, I had a large bathroom. I liked the fact that the room also had a microwave and a small 'frig. Only complaint was that there was no closet, just a coat rack, and I wish the room had a safe.

    « Mammoth stay »

breakfast was very good and the beds was super comfy . but we paid 475 for 2 nights , which i think was very costly .close by to restaurants and lakes and mammoth adventure centre and safe place to stay..

« Good centrally located hotel »

Best Western Plus High Sierra Hotel was clean and comfortable lodging for the Mammoth Lakes area. The central location made it easy sight see Mammoth Mtn, Devils Post Pile, Earthquake Fault, Mono Lake, Lake Mary, and Horseshoe Lake. Restaurants, shops and other amenties were also readily accessible.

« Missed Wake-up Call and Overcharged for Services Not Used »

As a Best Western Rewards Member, I expected much better from the staff at this hotel. I was unacceptable. The hotel charged me another $25.00 upfront for services that I "might" use, but didn't. Then it failed to reflect that on its bill. Failed to make requested wake-up call, then front desk clerk denied it was ever requested. Horrible service from him, wouldn't even alert the manager. Very poor job guys. you burned me. I will not forget.

Hotel was great, staff were extremely courteous and helpful with everything from helping us find parking for our Airstream trailer, correcting a minor AC issue. Elizabeth at the front counter/check-in deserves special mention for friendly and effective helpfulness. Armando and Arturo were great in the breakfast cafe.

I enjoyed my freshly made over easy eggs. So good.

« Check other property prices prior to reservation at this hotel »

We came to Mammoth a day early and stayed a the Best western. Our room was $230 and was advertised as a suite. We had rented at another property for the following three days and for almost exactly same price got a two bedroom with 2 bath and a full kitchen. This Best western had a very minimal kitchen if you could even call it that and what they call a suite basically just included a couch/hide a bed. At breakfast it was so crowded we could not find a seat and this was off season and breakfast selection compared to other best western's was not even close. We stayed at 5 other Best Western's this year and I really like Best Western but were disappointed with this particular property. Please do your research and check other hotels and even VRBO properties before booking tis hotel.

« Nice One Night Stay - Best Western Plus High Sierra Hotel, Mammoth Lakes »

We had a very nice one night stay at the Best Western. The staff sent out an email the night before to make check in easier and it helped. They asked about car license, arrival time, etc. It was helpful. They have an indoor swimming pool which is nice. Our room was on the 3rd floor. It had a jacuzzi tub. There was a couch, very comfortable King Size bed, TV, desk area, and a kitchenette. The kitchennette had a nice cofffee/tea Krups maker; burners; dish wear and some pots/pans; refrigerator. There is a microwave. So overall, while older (which much of the lodging is), it was very nice I liked the number of TV stations and also the local Mammoth TV station. In fact, I found that most interesting and the only one I watched. Internet connection was fine. I also liked it that there were numerous outlets to plug things in - which is so helpful. They also included a very large bottle of wine - thanks! and nice glasses to pour it in. The staff was so nice. Breakfast was in a very large room - which was great. They are planning to make it even nicer. The breakfast staff is amazing. They will "make on order" eggs, pancakes, etc. I enjoyed my freshly made over easy eggs. So good. Parking is free - however we came back late at night. The staff helped us find a spot. We found it a bit hard to find the first time from the Main Road in Mammoth as its behind the gas station. We found it on our 2nd pass. Just mentioning in case that's helpful for future guests how to find the motel. Overall, it was a very nice stay for one night at Mammoth Lakes. We knew what to expect and the staff exceeded our expectations. A big thanks to everyone on staff there.

« Construction noise and inept staff »

Just skip it. Location is weird. When I booked they made sure to tell me I couldn't cancel but NOT that there would be construction on the other side of our wall at 8am. When I tried to discuss this I got a very corporate speech about how I had been told in my email. I didn't get that email until I was at the hotel because we only called a few minutes ahead. When I very politely suggested that they do a better job of communicating I was ignored (no eye contact or acknowledgement). It ruined the stay to have this handled so poorly. The room was ok, but even with AAA it was $200, when other best western rooms on the same trip were all about $110 all over OR and CA.

    « recent stay »

The hotel is currently remodeling and breakfast was served in the meeting room. Other than limited seating, no problems were encountered. We were warned of possible bear damage, which was nice, so all food items were removed from my vehicle. This was great courtesy which I find is not always provided.

    « Best breakfast »

Best breakfast I've ever had in a hotel! Pancakes and eggs cooked to order. We had a hard time finding the hotel. Sign is far in and hard to see from the road. Parking is lacking. There is a funky smell when you walk into the hotel. Front desk was not friendly, but maids and servers were very nice. They say they are renovating and are working on a new cafe. Hope they will renovate rooms too. They are a bit tired. Holes in wallpaper. The bed was super comfortable, tho. Seemed a bit pricey, but the location and breakfasts made it ok. I would stay at the Westin next time, but I'm pretty picky.

« Sheets Not changed - Rude Manager Brent Cooley »

I typically do not write reviews but have to at least let people know my experience, so in the future they may have a better experience. Yesterday, I got in late from a flight, checked in the hotel, showered and jumped in bed but left the lights off and didn't check the bed. In the morning with the lights on, I inspected the bed further. The bed had black dots that looked like bed bugs, as well as long female hair in it. I did not have my spouse with me and it really looked like the bed was never cleaned. I immediately went to the front desk to see if there was a solution and the front desk person said they can't make any decisions or comps until the manager is in. By the time I walked back to my room, the bed was cleaned and re made (within 10 minutes to cover their tracks). Since I had a mountain biking appointment, I had to leave in the morning (staying two nights). I finally get back after the day of mountain biking and the manager, Brent Cooley, accused me of lying and attempting to get a free room. He also accused me that I brought the dirt into the bed and that the bed bugs residue was from me. It was very disappointing that Best Western did not meet their corporate standards. But it was more disappointing that the manager (Brent Cooley) had an attitude that he was the owner and sole proprietor of the hotel and didn't respect me as a person or a customer. He even didn't even seem to have respect for Best Western as a brand, and even said that I can call corporate if I'd like, and that they wouldn't do anything. Besides the un changed bed incident, the parking is horrendous here, so make sure to get a spot early or you will be SOL. I would 100% say this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and in the future will ensure all business conferences that I have planned will be with a more reputable company.

« Great stay at Best Western »

    « Mountain Retreat »

An overall nice hotel with some areas that need improvement. Room was basically clean, bed comfortable, provided breakfast very good. Parking a bit inadequate - we came in around 10 pm and had to park offsite in an area that needed to be vacated before 8 am - a fact the front desk didn't share with us until our 3rd visit to them to try and figure out where we were supposed to park. Seemed the final walk through had been missed by housekeeping - pile of clothes on bathroom floor from previous occupant, dirty washcloths over the shower rod, no do not disturb sign and no plastic glasses on the vanity. Nothing but a sheer curtain over the window that blew all over the place because of the heating/cooling unit under the window. Heating and cooling operation was a complete mystery. Room looked over a small courtyard and into the room across the way - got very bright as the sun came up. Have never before been in a hotel room that didn't have a privacy curtain on the window. Hotel well located, quiet but a little hard to find. They're on the main street but the signage is understated.

    « 2 days in mammoth lakes »

I spent 2 days in mammoth lakes during a trip/holiday in California. I selected the area to be able to visit HighbSierra, coming from Yosemite Park and going ahead to Death Valley Park. The area is nice, with a lots of activities for mountains lovers, or simply to relax. Be careful about the elevation: 2500 meters, so the first day I felt myself difficult to breath a to make any type of effort. The location of the hotel is good and there us a parking facility. Quality of the room was ok. Unfortunately the staff at the reception was totally unfriendly: no help at all about activities to do around and no care at all about customers: some people should better do another job! Moreover the second day they forget to make the room (...ok it can happen), but when I complain....no apologize at all. All in all I can recommend the hotel if you don't care about what above.

« Once again, cancellation policy is horrendous. »

We booked for two nights..at a high rate when compared with the quality of the other properties in Mammoth. We decided to stay one night and then move into the village ( this hotel is not close) but we were told that we would have to pay in full for the second night (I would have gladly paid a cancellation fee, but over $200 is crazy!). The property is dated, the pool is ice cold and the breakfast vouchers are a joke. Housekeeping on the third floor was good. This employee was one of the only courteous ones on the property. Most of the rest don't seem to care! Do yourself a favor and stay at the village lodge or Westin or one of the cheaper, much nicer properties in Mammoth ( they have balconies so that you can enjoy the beautiful scenery). The manages or whomevet actually owns this place needs a wake up call. Read other reviews and you will sense a common thread.... disappointment!

    « Out of date »

These facilities require a complete overhaul. - The lobby had patch work on the floor to fill in cracks on the foundation. It was not refinished to match the rest of the lobby -The roof had tiles that were not discretely covering old damaged roof tiles -Rooms shower was a dilapidated '80s jacuzzi tub with an inscription that read "jets not operational" taped to the side -Decore was hectic and dirty. Light switches appeared to have been turned on/off with dirty hands and never cleaned and disinfected. There was a Dora the exploradora clock that appeared to have come from a flea market. -The breakfast options was atrocious. There were picnic tables set up instead of the dedicated booths that is traditional. And the employees were having a discussion about the [deli meet still being good because it was the third day and they were good for 1-3 days] -As we approached the best western facilities there were wooden planks that were coming off. Not a very inspiring site.

« The worst hotel ever »

By far the worst hotel we ever stayed in our lifetime !! I stay on average 35-40 nights at hotels annually ( leisure and business) so inhVe a wide range to be able to compare !!! We are Never staying at best western again!! Rooms are average. But it's expensive for those rooms . Value for money bad. For this price you normally have better rooms but perhaps due to the area.. it's a very old building, old rooms, not even a curtain in the room. Breakfast was a joke. Tables dirty, chairs plastic. How can u serve food like that ? Wifi Internet was very slow. Plus The checkin staff was very weird. He was making unnecessary conversation with us in the middle of the night. Plus he was showing extra attention to my wife's breasts!!! Horrible

« Quick overnight in Mammoth »

The final night of our road trip we stayed here-- a pleasant surprise as I was expecting it to be noisy. Free parking, and a pleasant reminder to remove all food from the vehicle because bears. We were upstairs in a large room. No view, but we weren't expecting one. The wifi worked, and it is perfectly adequate-- if not better than some of the other places we have been staying. They are currently working on the breakfast room, but we could still eat there. The stairway going to the 2nd floor was under construction, but looked almost done. There is an indoor pool, but we didn't use it. It is near plenty of restaurants. Not a romantic spot, but a good Best Western that does the job.

    « Loved my 7 days here »

I was playing shuttle for family that was hiking the John Muir Trail from Mammoth to Yosemite Valley. Initially my plan was to move to a hotel on the Yosemite side after I knew they made the snow crossing of Donahue Pass. However, my stay was so great here I extended my stay 3 times and just drove over the day of their arrival. I asked for a pet room and got one. My first reaction was my pet had a better accommodation than I did. Dog bowls, a bed and a convenient trip outside. Linens to use on the bed just in case the dog got up there. My bed was very plush and comfy, the room was quiet, sufficiently large and well equipped. The building has good security requiring room keys to enter and that's important as I am a lone, female traveling. They were doing some renovations on the stairway from the lobby and putting in a new breakfast room but I found that neither caused me any inconvenience. When my sink plugged up, maintanence was there after 5 pm and cleared it up right away. The "free" town trolly stop is just a block in either direction and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants in easy walking distance. I know that if my family decides to hike the JMT again, I'll be staying here at this hotel.

    « Good central location »

Hotel is centrally located so restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance but quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. Room was spacious and had all usual facilities. Given that we visited during a bit of a heatwave it was very handy that covered parking is available. Would definitely recommend, only criticism was that breakfast was a little limited and even scrambled eggs were cooked on request which would have been fine but there was only one server and one hot plate.

« Gross rooms stay away »

Room 327 had an old broken cd player in it. Ants in the bathroom and the mattress on the bunk bed was so old and saggy there was no support left in it. It looks like a mattress you'd find sitting on the side of the road. Some guy at the front desk ...said the mattress would be replaced in the Spring. I know the place is under construction, but that's no excuse to not present a quality room. We paid 225 for a king suite with a bunkbed. The room price and the Best Western brand did not reflect what I m used to -- when staying. The mattress needs to be replaced asap. The top bedding in the twin beds was faded and looked to be about 12 years old. You can get new bedding in amazon for about 25.00. Overall appearance and stay in this room was gross. Sincerely, Cathy

« One night stop over »

Stayed one night here with my parents traveling from Vegas on our way to Yosemite valley and then eventually onto San Fransisco.. it was the perfect pit stop and now we wish we had more time to stay there. We stayed in the room with 2 queen beds and managed well with space with our luggage etc in the room.. slightly older styling and building but being renovated so that will open up the foyer a little probably.. staff were great and the breakfast included was perfect! There was also a gentleman there cooking eggs however you liked and it was lovely!! They gave us lots of advice on bear safety cos it's the first time we have experienced that tip of animal.. highly recommend it for a pit stop as we didn't stay there long so can't comment on much else. Would stay there again tho for a longer time if I was going in winter for the skiing etc...

This hotel was in a very convenient location within the Mammoth Lakes area. Easy access to several great location restaurants. The gentleman who checked us in was exceedingly helpful in assisting us with critical travel info as most of the roads and hiking trails we had planned on going on during our stay were still closed due to the heavy winter snows. Very quiet and extremely comfortable rooms.

« Super friendly staff and large rooms plan ahead if you aren't renting a car! »

This was a 24 hour trip and the hotel was satisfying. I was placed in a double queen room, however it was larger than most. The hotel is going thru a renovation, which is usually quite annoying, however for some reason this time it didn't bother me. The folks working on the renovation were very kind and the hotel has gone to the trouble to 'hide' most of the construction work that is happening so guest aren't too affected by the noise. The free breakfast in the morning was open from 6am-10am and they were making custom eggs and pancakes for the guests, plenty of good fruit to eat and pastries, drinks yogurt etc. Coffee was good. I was able to request a late checkout. I do want to warn folks who have NOT rented a car while they are visiting Mammoth, like I did not, that you will be STUCK paying $60.00 + dollars for a return trip back to the airport unless you book your return trip in advance and tell them you want a shared shuttle service. If there isn't anyone else sharing your cab, you will be stuck paying $60.00!! The hotel does NOT offer shuttle to and from the airport. Same thing when you land. It might be worth it for you to rent a car and probably much cheaper. The hotel is about 10 minutes away from the airport so I'm not sure WHY the hotel does not pony up a shuttle service to offer guests. This was a cab service recommended by the hotel. Lastly, there are a bunch of places to eat and shop within walking distance which is nice.

Always a friendly clean place to stay. Employees are very helpful and accommodating.Very easy to access from major highway. Very close to shopping and food choices. One of the top 5 hotels That I have stayed at.

« It is fine for a night »

We just stayed a night in this Best Western coming from the Death Valley and heading to Yosemite. It was okay for the night. The room was not very modern but okay. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was good - prepared by a nice Mexican team. The parking lot is directly in front of the hotel.

Wonderful staff and good breakfast even though the regular room was under construction. Only crticism is like most competitor hotels, the coffee is not the best. Why can't these he tells have better tasting coffee at their breakfast buffets?

Price was high compared to other properties in town, however, it was worth it. Nice quiet and spacious room. Bed had a good pillow top and was very comfortable. The breakfast was likely the highlight of the stay with made to order pancakes, eggs/omlettes plus all the other typical breakfast amenities. The breakfast is in a small restaurant in the front of the property and it had a fully staffed kitchen. The property was near capacity on my weekend stay, but there was adequate parking.

    « New Staff Needed! »

Upon checking in to this hotel for business after a very, very long and tiring drive, I was told that I didn't have a reservation, nor was there a reservation for my coworker. I asked that they check under all possible names, yet, no, they couldn't find a reservation. The male clerk asked whether maybe I had "reservated" at another hotel; he then proceeded to utter other similar inanities. Maybe in Bishop, perhaps? A mere 100 miles from there? I'm still patting myself on the back for not losing it. After approximately 20 minutes my coworker called and said she was already in the room, and had just checked in 20 MINUTES BEFORE MY ARRIVAL! She had told the staff that there would be someone else arriving to share the room. Apparently this was simply too much information for these two to retain. I was speechless. They couldn't remember her, and didn't even have her name properly in the computer. The card key didn't function well. The room was fine, although the closet door won't close properly and semi blocks the door as one enters. There was a fridge and microwave, and as the hotel has a pool and jacuzzi, they have thoughtfully put a clothesline in the shower. There are only sheers on the window, and the outside light kept me awake for a great deal of the night. Breakfast was adequate, though with both sausage and bacon available, it seems they could have offered a veggie meat option. The hotel is very difficult to see from the main road as it is set back and semi-obscured by a car wash. There are many hotels in town, and I would opt for another if you have the choice.

    « Best breakfast »

I've stayed at quite a few best western hotels and this has by far the best breakfast! Eggs and pancakes were made when you ordered them, fresh coffee and a good selection of pastries and fruit. Friendly staff and great location. Terrible flimsy soft pillows, but hey, the breakfast made up for it. Next time I'm in town I'll just bring my own pillow

    « Mammoth Trip »

We stayed here two nights. I gad requested early check in but when we arrived our room wasnt ready and we were told to come back later. We did love the location of the hotel and the breakfast was wonderful, with very friendly helpful staff. Our room was really nice and we have no complates there. Pool towels were very small so we needed two each which they kindly gave us at the front desk. I was disappointed that there was no information inbroom about bus schedules or resturants for order in food delivery. We did ask about that and were told to google two names that we were given. I thought that was rude, as it appeared the guy didnt want to be bothered. Then we had a question about the bus another staff was more than helpful giving us info on an app that showed where the bus was and to see the route. Now that was service especially since we had never been there. But over all I would stay here again because the room was clean and comfy. I felt the seating area at the entry did need some help maybe adding some things guest could enjoy, plus making it more cozy so you could enjoy your cup of coffee or tea which was offered every day which we loved. And maybe if the staff could give more info about things in the area when you call, or about amenities without having to ask. I dont know if this hotel had a gym or not we were never told. But the area is beautiful especially for the outdoors type person. This was our 1st trip to the area on our anniversary and yes I would recommend you visit the area if you never have.

    « Great value-focused hotel »

This Best Western was a great place to land prior to a day of skiing at Mammoth. With breakfast included, the hotel offered a tremendous value. The staff was fantastic- welcoming, helpful, and welcoming. If you're looking for a comfortable, value-oriented place to rest your head, this is worthy of consideration!

To whom it may concern, The service staff at the Mammoth Lakes Best Western, are Rude and have no follow through when committing to a resolution. There is a breakfast hostess who is overbearing, extremely un-mannerly, and impatient.

« This hotel is it! »

Great value. It can be difficult to remember everything for skiing on the mountain. Weather changes and arrangement for kids. The hotel is the one thing that I don't have to worry about. Having a great breakfast provided for me is the best! Great job to all the staff at Best Western Mammoth Lakes.

« Full breakfast, friendly and a few nice touches. »

We have tried a few hotels when we come to Mammoth for skiing. This is the one that we keep coming back to. I have so many reasons! The three biggest reasons are the generous cancellation policy (up to 48 hours and no charge), the full breakfast included and the super friendly staff. With a young kid who had a constant lung infection, we often had to cancel our trip because the elevation only makes his condition worse. Other hotels in the area charge, at a minimum, a cancellation fee. This establishment does no charge whatsoever if you cancel within 48 hours of the stay. The full breakfast includes yummy eggs cooked how you want, fried potatoes and bacon, all the toppings I could dream of for fresh oatmeal, and the standards such as toast, muffins, yogurt and fruit. The staff is super friendly. We have had accidents with our little boy, including having the stomach flu, only to be realized when we drove up to the hotel. We had to have sheets changed a few times and the staff was super nice about the whole thing. I don't really see the same desk clerks on my different visits, but also not on a day to day basis when I am there. It has been no problem at all and all the desk clerks have been personable and helpful. Then there are those nice little touches, the complimentary bottle water in the room, the hot chocolate, hot cider, coffee left in the lobby 24/7. On top of this, this hotel is one of the most reasonable. The rooms have been nothing but clean and tidy. Everything has looked well maintained and kept up. My husband and I have become sensitive to hotel beds, finding it difficult to find a comfortable sleep. We have had no problems with the beds at this Best Western. I left this last trip thinking - we are sure lucky to have found this place!

    « Too short a stay »

Nice staff at arrival, but the staff working the breakfast was excellent and food was great. Kudos to Elizabeth she and the rest of the team, you're the reason for the 4. The rooms are OK, the pool looked alright, but jacuzzi didn't seem clean with the foam all around? Location is great close to the bus stop 13 across the street from restaurants, shopping centers and cozy Stellar Brew coffee shop next to Chevron. It snowed heavy coming into town and it was nice to just pull in and park the car and take the bus everywhere.

« Best Western Hotel High Sierra »

If you plan a trip to Mammoth Mountain for skying, look no further. Best Western High Sierra has all you need. Nice full breakfast, conveniently located from town, Mammoth Village and the slopes. Nice indoor pool, super clean rooms with TV, fridge, internet and microwave. Always go there a few times a year during the snow season.

    « Dated and dirty. »

The gentleman at the front desk was friendly and professional. Once in the room we found multiple hairs in the bathroom sink, very obvious ones too, not like they were tiny hairs. We also found that there was no shampoo, & no hand or bath soap. Also the refrigerator didn't work correctly, it didn't get cold even though we turned it up all the way. When we went to use the hot tub, it had this large amount of foam in it that I never seen in any other hot tub, and some of the foam had a brown color stuff on top, we got out right away. Also the towels that people are issued for use at the hot tub area are tiny and old. The in room WiFi was terrible, slow and it kept dropping connection. The breakfast was OK, it's what you would normally get at a BW. I have have to thank the gentleman that was working in the parking lot for helping me get my car out of an icy and snow cover parking space. It would have taken me a very long time without his help.

    « A Gem of a Hotel in Mammoth »

I drove to Mammoth for a quick 2-day ski trip and was not expecting a lot from the best Western Plus High Sierra. I travel a lot for business so I am picky about hotels. I think of Best Western as a budget chain but this hotel exceeded all my expectations. Great location (bus shuttle stop a very short walk), friendly staff, nicely appointed room -- and free breakfast and internet. I am coming back! An outstanding value for the money.

This BW Plus is very nice. Could use an update but is a good value. Main thing is it is clean! Love the covered parking and the breakfast is always top notch... They even give you real drinking glasses...not those crappy plastic cups! I appreciate that very much..

Nice stay, came up for Mammoth opening week. Always friendly staff, nice hot breakfast with made to orders eggs by Sergio! Room was clean and quiet. « Excellent two nights »

Very friendly staff. Room was large and comfortable, with the usual amenities. Parking good and undercover. Breakfast was one of the best we had on our tour - Other Best Westerns' should take note! Easy walk to bars and restaurants.. I understand that the hotel is to be refurbished in 2017, which should make it even better. We picked here as a stop off from Yosemite then down through Death Valley. Perfect stop. Laid back hotel and town. Didn't have any snow, but didn't want any! Thoroughly recommended.

Stayed here a few nights. Room was comfortable and spacious. Microwave and fridge were both useful to us as the Vons supermarket was only a few minutes drive away. The free breakfast is top class with individually cooked eggs to your liking. Nice selection of cold and hot breakfast choices. Under cover parking is available on site for those visiting in the winter months.

WE came in as a group of travelers in our antique cars traveling around the Sierras. The location was perfect the accomondations were clean, The breakfast was the best of all the hotels we stayed in on our tour. The room was quiet and clean. We went to the pool that was indoors and very comfortably heated. There was an incoming storm outside and our cars were all able to park in covered parking. Thanks for the great stay.

    « Best Western Plus? »

Mammoth Lakes Best Western Plus ? Accessible Room ? didn't request it. Didn't need it. Glad I'm not wheel chair bound. The ice bucket and drinking glasses (glass not plastic) were on top of the coffee maker which was on top of the microwave which was on top of the fridge. The adjustable shower handle was pushed all the way to the top. No wheel chair bound independent person could have reached these things. The shower leaked all over the floor. The bathroom door closes and won't stay open. Two chairs next to the table prevented wheel chair access. Reported above to reception ? was informed hotel refurbishing will include upgrades to accessible rooms. The king bed mattress leaned to one side. Our room was clean, location was quiet, best complimentary hotel breakfast we've had on our three week journey.

« Good family place in Mammoth »

This is a good option in a nice location in Mammoth. The town is quite spread out and we found the area a nice spot to be in for access. If you are more into being right at the base of the ski hill, that may be more up your alley, but not for us as we prefer more the feel of the town and to be in a slightly less touristy area. This Best Western is walking distance to some strip mall shopping and a few restaurants and a short drive to great restaurants like the Brasserie (in the bowling alley!), Campo and Mammoth Brewing. A fabulous coffee shop, Stellar Brew, is right in front, and we went there several times. The hotel breakfast is good, with cooked-to-order eggs and great staff. We found a couple of the front desk staff less-than-friendly, leading to a poor first impression and that was the only downside - all other staff were great. Rooms are oversized, clean and nicely decorated. A good choice at a fair price.

    « Great place! »

We stayed here for 3 nights. The location was perfect for us, grocery store and wonderful Italian restaurant 4 minutes away. We were greeted by a smiling Alicia who recommended a room for our dog that was easy access. The breakfast was so good every morning. Custom made eggs, pancakes or French toast. Everyone was so friendly. After hiking non stop I stopped at front desk to ask for suggestions of sites to see. The young man gave me numerous ideas and directions. We were able to do 3 and were pleasantly surprised. We will definitely come back.

    « A Good Option »

This is a clean, comfortable, and well staffed hotel. Their breakfast was excellent, with far more choices than most. The AC was basic, but it was difficult to reach a comfortable temp in the room. I would stay here again.

    « Family Weekend »

The hotel was clean and quiet. Our family of 3 was very comfortable. The breakfast was great and had a nice variety. The only negative was the pool was too cold for our son to swim and burn off car ride energy.

    « Wonderful Stay & Experience »

We really enjoyed our three night stay at the Best Western Plus High Sierra Hotel in Mammoth Lakes October 10th - 13th. We were very impressed with the reception we received at check-in. We requested Closed Caption on the TV when making our on-line reservation for our stay. The front desk was fully aware of this request and we were escorted to our room by a hotel employee who showed us how to operate the special remote and checked it out to be sure it was working. She also explained the AC/Heat and other features of the room and hotel. Unusual and unexpected service! The rest of our stay lived up to this first impression This hotel was exceptionally quiet even with it being fully occupied. The hotel is very well maintained, the halls were spotless. We had a large comfortable room with a desk, table and comfortable chairs which worked great as this was are "base camp" to operate from to photograph fall color. The hotel staff always offered a cordial and friendly greeting. The hotel provided breakfast is also unique in that it offers eggs and pancakes prepared to order by the chef. In addition there are fresh fruits and cereal, etc., all fresh and nicely displayed. What is also nice there is no TV to interrupt the pleasant environment and the staff buses the tables. The hotel provides a large number of covered parking places as well as exposed parking areas. Note: It is difficult to see the Best Western High Sierra Hotel from Main Street as it is located back from Main Street behind the Standard Gas station on the right side of the street as you enter Mammoth from US-395. Also beware / careful of the traffic entering and leaving the gas station.

    « Nice Place »

The breakfast selection was good and eggs fresh cooked. The room was comfortable. The only negative about the room was the toilet was super slow and clogged up after midnight which meant calling for help at a bad time. I would advise all to monitor your credit card after check out as mine was compromised a few days after checking out of here. The location is great as far as walking to post office or dining.

    « One night stay. »

Warm friendly welcome from reception staff. First impressions of the Hotel are very good. Parked the car undercover in the parking area, which was handy as the rain was pouring down. Spacious clean room. Breakfast very good with made to order omelettes. The only downside to the stay was the toilet that blocked on first use. This was cleared promptly, but it happened again in the morning , flooding the bathroom again. This time they didn't respond and we had to use the facilities around the pool. Nice hotel in good location, would have given 5* if it wasn't for the toilet issues.

« The WORST Hotel experience »

If there was less than I star I would give them minus 5 stars. This is the WORST experience in a hotel in my life! I am a business traveler, and I booked this hotel through Hotels.com to rest up after a week of over 1200 miles through the California Central Valley. The only thing I wanted was rest and the only thing I did not get was rest. I told the attendant that they have to solve the issue that every time anyone opens and shuts a door the noise was such that it woke me up. Then I checked out a day in advance because what I wanted I didn't get, and the hotel still charged me for the entire stay arguing that because I booked through Hotels, com they could not process a refund. The manager called me later, not to hear my comments but to "explain" what was plenty clear. That they are not responsible if I leave the hotel before my scheduled departure due to my discomfort. If you're ever in Mammoth Lakes, run in the opposite direction of the Best Western Plus High Sierra Hotel!

« Great "bring fido" hotel plus good breakfast! »

The room was clean and comfortable. (We always miss our memory foam mattress.) Our room was close to a ground floor door making it easy to take our dog in and out. The breakfast was superb. A real cook offering pancakes (gluten-free an regular) and homemade cheese omelets or eggs of your choice. Loved the potatoes and fresh fruit. So many choices at breakfast! Friendly staff. The room was far enough off of Main Street to be quiet.

« Good stop off if visiting yosemite »

We found this hotel to be great no issues! There was no reason to give it 5 but it was clean tidy and had some great things going for it but no wow factor.. check in was prompt and friendly, breakfast was included, wifi and parking. Unfortunately the in house restaurant was shut when we were there but there are plenty of places to eat. We had had a very long day so made use of the pool and the jacuzzi it was the perfect end to a great day! We would def stay again!

    « Too much money »

The cost of the room was not justified as it wasn't summer or snow season, the bathroom was outdated and had mold around the shower. The check-in lady was less than friendly, spoke quickly and became irritated when I asked her to repeat what she said. The bed was comfy though and the room was quiet.

« The place to stay »

At the tourist information in Mammoth Lakes is a complimentary phone booth with which you can call several hotels in Mammoth Lakes which are listed there. We ended up calling the Best Western Plus and were treated very friendly. The rate was good as well, so we stayed at this place. To make a long story short. For the rate a perfect stay with big and clean rooms, a great location and an awesome breakfast in the nearby restaurant.

« Great Stop Out of Yosemite »

My husband and I stayed here after a long day of touring Yosemite National Park. It was just before 9pm when we got there. Check in was easy, the front desk Lady was amazing. She was so helpful with guiding us where to get a late dinner. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. They offer a breakfast in the morning at adjoining restaurant. We recommend if it is for a night. The prices were high and they did not offer a military discount.

« Comfortable place at a reasonable price »

A good location near the Village in Mammoth Lakes. A large inn with comfortable rooms and in a good location less than a mile from "The Village", the center of town. The breakfast is exceptional for a "motel/inn" having a chef who prepares egg dishes on order besides the nice selection of complete breakfast offerings.

    « Perfect! »

A friendly, warm welcome, and a lovely HUGE suite. Very clean generally and a very comfortable, large bed. Massive bathroom with spa bath. Easy, free parking. The breakfast was great, though the removal of used plates etc could be slow or non-existent! But the food was very tasty and eggs cooked to order. An easy 45 minute drive to Yosemite, which is why we stayed here. Easy to walk to places to eat/shop. We felt very at home and relaxed, we would definitely stay again, we LOVE Mammoth!

« Good times in Mammoth »

We pulled in around 10pm, tired and weary from 8 hours of driving from Las Vegas. The hotel clerk was very kind and sympathetic to our "plight". We got the 2 connected rooms we requested and the rooms were really comfortable, clean and quiet. The beds and sheets were of very high quality and we all slept soundly.... especially my 84 yr. old mom. We all enjoyed a morning swim in the hotel pool and the delicious, fresh food for breakfast. Very friendly staff and room attendants made our experience even more enjoyable. Good Job BW Mammoth - We'll be back again soon! ;o)

We stayed the night after driving from San Francisco through Yosemite. They had a nice pool area where that were also a hot tub, very nice after a day in the car. « Friendliest Best Western yet! »

We have stayed at many, many Best Westerns over the years. Of all of them I am going to say this is the friendliest Best Western EVER! Not just the employees but the guests themselves. Maybe Mammoth just brings out the best in people! Walking down the halls, in the elevator, lobby, even parking lot everyone smiles and says 'Hello! How are you?' Everyone just seems to be happy and outgoing! The staff in the breakfast area, just wonderful! The front desk personnel happy and willing to help with directions, information, WiFi problems..'how else may I help you today?' Our room (1 King) was clean, comfortable, plenty of pillows, cozy bedding.(As I always say; I hate those tiny in-room coffee pots!) However, there is always FRESH coffee in the lobby. The breakfast is wonderful! There are chefs to cook your eggs 'to order'! Plenty of choices from, hot, cold or in between. Fresh fruit every day. sausage, bacon, potatoes, pancakes, waffles, yogurt , juices, cereals. I think they are accustomed to satisfying people before they hit the slopes or the trails and giving them plenty of energy to do so. PLENTY of stuff to do in Mammoth and close by! We're not 'winter people' but we WILL be going back to the Best Western High sierra! LOVED IT!

« A hard place to find good accomodations »

Mammoth Lakes is known for its overpriced hotels, that said, this one is as good as some, no worse than most and better than quite a few in the area. The indoor pool was great and the breakfast was wonderful. If you have mobility issues, be advised that the parking is uphill from the main entrance. There is an entrance near the parking, but it required stair climbing to get to the elevator.

    « Fantastic! »

Stayed here for one night while traveling through the Eastern Sierras. A bit pricey, but a good value for your money. Location can't be beat, right on the main drag with a number of dining choices. Room was great (one of the more luxurious on my trip). The breakfast in the morning was really good too (buffet style with eggs cooked to order), and was included in the price of the room. They have an indoor pool and hot tub that I didn't use, which looked very inviting. Friendly staff. Would stay here again.

« Return Visit - central location, good stay »

Stayed here again. Pretty good stay. I might be getting crusty since I'm starting to compare all hotel beds to my Tempur bed, but basically it was a fine stay to the BW standards. Nice pics of the Sierra Nevada on the walls on the upper floor. The breakfast was pretty good, great service from the guys at breakfast... though a bit warm air-temp wise inside with the cooking and people. I should have read the breakfast coupon to see if that meant I could get another plate of eggs.

This hotel was sufficient for what we needed for one night. We overlooked a car park and the bed really was't that comfortable. Top notch customer service! We booked a room last minute due to the high number and quality of online reviews. We had an unexpected change in plans and they were more than accommodating to change our reservations - even on a holiday weekend. Very professional and will definitely book here again because of their policies.

    « Fantastic Stay »

I can't count how many Best Western Hotels we have stayed at but this is one was over the top. We were advised to make sure no food was left in the car due to the bears. The room was very comfortable, clean and the bed great. Will come back

« Great hotel with great service and excellent staff »

The Best Western Plus High Sierra is a great choice for a middle-class hotel at a reasonable price. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and good amenities. But what makes this place special is the extraordinary staff. Friendly, professional and very accommodating. A huge plus is the made-to-order breakfast, included in the room price. I will definitely stay here again. Oh yes, and you should heed the advice about food and wrappers in your car - I saw Mama Bear and her cute cubs at 10pm in the parking lot :-)

« Clean property, convenient location and great, free breakfast ! »

The hotel is located right on main street (a couple of restaurants are just across the street ? we had dinner at Slocum's which was very good). Check-In was quick and the lady at the front desk was very friendly and polite. Our room was located on the second floor but could also be entered evenly from the parking lot behind the building if you don't want to use the stairs or the elevator. Everything was clean and quiet ? nothing to complain about A big plus was the included breakfast: made-to-order eggs and lot's o other (good) stuff to choose from. Although the whole hotel is an older property, it is in good shape. Keep it up, guys.

« Not worth the money »

Very poor service from the group reservation Vicki to start we were canceled with not contact to us. Leaking faucet, claustrophobic bathroom door closes on its on, poor beds slept poorly 3 nights, could not bring breakfast back to room it was included, meeting room nothing special.

« Great Place to stay In Mammoth Lakes, CA »

The Best Western Plus is conveniently located for easy walking to restaurants. It has covered parking, a nice pool and jacuzzi, and fitness center. Breakfast with custom made eggs was a pleasant surprise. Staff was friendly and helpful.

    « Great Breakfast »

The breakfast at this Best Western was better than most with eggs cooked to order. The room was a bit small and the ones in the back have a view of another building which is less than ideal in this beautiful setting. Close to shopping and restaurants as well as the Tesla charging station.

« Nice hotel, centrally located »

This is a nice hotel that is centrally located on the main highway (203). The room was quite nice and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast was included and was highlighted by hot items and made-to-order egg dishes and pancakes. I would definitely stay at the hotel another time.

    5
« Great breakfast, great service, wonderful town! »

We chose this BW because it was close to Yosemite but Mammoth Lakes area was just as beautiful and fun. So many things to do. Can not wait to return! The breakfast was a wonderful surprise. Eggs cooked to order, lots of meat and fruits, and comfortable seating. Very helpful staff.

« Nice room, problem with charges »

The hotel is a bit hard to find, as it is sandwiched between a gas station/car wash and a sports store and is set back from the road. Our room was nice and comfortable. Keep in mind elevators are centrally located so if your room is on the end of a wing, you will have to walk a little. Pool and hot tub were great, as was the free breakfast. Coffee is available in the lobby. The shower curtain would't stay closed and left a bit of a big puddle after every shower taken. The biggest issue we encountered was that we were charged different amounts for our two rooms, despite what my reservation said (the same amount for both rooms). It took about ten minutes before management fixed the charge for us. It was a bit irritating and frustrating that I had to argue about the price promised to me for both of our rooms. Other than that, our stay was nice.

    5
    « Lovely! »

We had a lovely Jr. Suite, I guess. Very nice room with an additional sitting area. Complimentary full breakfast the next morning. It was only for one night, but it was a very comfy place to stay. Had a fabulous dinner at Slocum's just across the street.

« Best Hotel Breakfast I've Ever Had »

Wonderful little hotel! Covered parking, nice pool, and the absolute best hotel "free" breakfast I've ever had. You eat in the restaurant on site, and they prepare your eggs, pancakes, etc to order. The service was excellent and the hotel has a great location.

« a short break in Yosemite park »

We have spent two nights there on our way to San Francisco and this hotel is well located. Staff is nice and helpful. Breakfast is good and various. During summer free shuttle to go around the different places ( the village, the lakes, ..) very convenient.to enjoy the vicinity without having to drive !

    « Beware - fraudulent business! »

We had a reservation for one night in May 2016 and were unable to reach the hotel due to the closure of the pass road in winter. We have checked our reservation details in advance and the voucher (which was provided in German language by the Best Western reservation system) says nothing about any closed roads. We have checked the hotel website later and the English version does provide this information. We immediately called the hotel when we realized that we will not make it to the hotel and that we stuck in Yosemite NP. We received a cancelling eMail at once and my credit card has been charge for on full night. Although I have addressed the hotel manager (Brent Cooley) and front desk manager (Emily) directly, I never have received an explanation from the hotel. I have received a forfeit bill without any comment from a hotel's staff member Lucero. Therefore I have raised a customer claim at the customer care desk of Best Western and they were telling me, that Lucero told them that we have to pay for that night because we did not cancel. After I provided them with the cancellation eMail Lucero had another lie one stock: They held the room all night long (although it has been cancelled) and therefore I now had to pay for one full night. BW customer care told me that they have no influence on the information the hotel provides and cannot reverse their fraudulent charge. Nevertheless, they told me that this has not been the first claim about this issue. They also encouraged me to open a lawsuit. I meanwhile have contacted my bank who also confirmed several claims on the credit card transactions regarding this hotel to me. I mean isn't it criminal to provide somebody with wrong information so that one cannot reach the hotel and to cause additional costs and stress in one's private vacation. And then to keep lying about what others supposedly should have done wrong. All that for 100 bucks. I think that is pathetic and I really to detest liars. That really is disgusting and those people are so dishonorable. Moreover, no matter what Emily - who always is busy in finding feigned words if a customer has not been satisfied or rude words if a customer posts a claim - is telling, it's likely to be a lie ? again. Do yourself a favor and choose another hotel.

    « Nice Hotel »

We stayed here for one night after a family weeklong backpacking trip in the Sierras, so my review might be clouded by the fact that our room had a bed that wasn't the ground and actual running water. We booked it last minute and paid $200 with my Best Western rewards card. The rooms were decently sized and clean. The beds were comfortable and like I said, we could take hot showers! The hotel has a pool and a hot tub, both inside and both very welcome. The rate comes with a free breakfast, which is honestly one of the best breakfasts I've had at a Best Western. There is an Indian restaurant on the premises, which serves dinners, but also is the setting for the breakfast. Not your standard free breakfast fare. They do eggs and pancakes to order, including omelettes. There's fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, coffee, tea, hot apple cider, bagels and cream cheese, cooked potatoes, and sausages. Really complete and very good. We were pleased with our stay and would recommend it to others. It's a nice family hotel and oh, we even got to bring our golden retriever in from the car to stay in the room. They had a very cute dog bowl set up in the room and even a little doggy bed. Very nice touch.

    « Yogi Bear »

I'm sure the manager had our best interests at heart, but he may have gone a little over board on the bear situation. He advised us to remove everything from our vehicle which was no small task when four adults are traveling together. Every soda pop, candy bar, or bag of chips had to be removed, before he'd give us a clean bill of health. It took three trips to get all our luggage inside and that was no small task. The manager did offer to help us, but we declined his offer. Despite all the bear BS, the next morning we did enjoy the complimentary breakfast. Had our eggs cooked to order and the cooks were more than friendly.

    « Great Service »

We stayed two nights in Mammoth and this hotel was perfect. The front desk staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. The breakfast was the best part. Full breakfast - including omelette bar, pancakes, etc.

« Best Western High Sierra Mammoth »

Meager motel and hugely overpriced. Nearly $220 for a one night stay. Vagrants hovering around the property, parking inadequate, room dingy, staff was aloof and summarily dismissed my inquiries into obtaining another room. Website is deceptive giving the impression of a much better quality porperty. Motel is wedged behind a car wash and gas station in a lesser area of town. Breakfast was good. Overall experience was tremendously disappointing.

« A perfect summer trip in Mammoth Lakes »

To enjoy the Mammoth Lakes not in winter but summer days, you also may have a wonderful journey with Family to hike in some hills and enjoy the most beautiful sight view in the world. Stay here for 3days will be the minimun period. One simple reason: there are over 300lakes among this area waiting for your coming!

    « Perfection for a great price »

Perfect place to stay in Mammoth. After a long day enjoying the great town off mammoth my room was just perfect and every one there was always nice and the location is in the center of town. Great for walking right out of the hotel.

    « Our favorite »

This is where we always stay when we are in Mammoth. It is a great value, central to restaurants, shopping, and hiking, and always consistent in quality and service. The continental breakfast is very good with freshly made pancakes, omelettes, and fruits. Never a disappointment!

    5
    « Great for families »

Great hotel for families. Easy check in, indoor pool, very clean, nice breakfast. My girls (7 y.o) liked this hotel better than any other hotels we stayed in on this road trip. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Had a great stay at this Best Western. The bunk beds were great and the room was very big. had no problem with bringing in all of our gear. To top it off the breakfast was the best I've had compared to any other Best Western. Also loved the pool Than you for everything.

    « Surprise »

We have been traveling around ca and stayed at a few different best western hotels , which I have written review on .This one was a surprise in a good way. A little hard to find do to a little off the road and the sign was small. It is next to a gas station and car wash. The room was very nice , king bed and a little sitting area. The room had a microwave , coffee maker , and ref. Ice was down the hall. The room was quiet. The breakfast is very good , and above a standard best western breakfast. They will make you eggs or omelette along with regular or gluten free pancakes which were very good. There is fresh fruit , oatmeal, cereal etc...I would stay here again .

This was an overnight stay for a family vacation, reasonable rates and friendly service Room clean, but had a stale smell. Luckily, ciuld open windows to enjoy fresh mountain air. The complimentary breakfast had great options to choose from. Would recommend.

    « BW Mammoth »

Overall good value for the amenities. The staff was helpful with the exception of one rude waitress at the breakfast bar. The property is close to most of the scenic spots and very convenient. The quality of the food at the breakfast bar was very good. The room had all the necessities for a family on vacation.

    « Another great stay! »

Great location for all activities in Mammoth. Just far enough off of the road so there is no noise. The staff was friendly and helpful with giving us directions to places to eat and what sights to see in the area.

    5
« Great Breakfast, Clean Room »

The free breakfast was a nice surprise as it included made to order pancakes and eggs. There was a nice assortment of other items as well. The room was roomy and clean. Being clean is so important. It helped overlook the awful pillows and not the best soundproofing in the room. The location is immediately off of Main St but tucked in so there was no traffic noise. Mammoth Lakes is a sort of a mini Estes Park - do not expect a good price on a hotel during tourist season. But factoring in the peak season, the price was not bad.

    2
« Expensive for average hotel »

The prices are really very high for what is really just a basic hotel. They do have breakfast, which helps offset the price a bit. Was also not great by the gas station and car wash with vacuums running first thing in the morning. Just not what we expected.

    « Great staff & delicious breakfast »

Everyone who has raved about the breakfast did so for good reason (you can custom order your eggs or get a cheese omelet, great strong coffee, pancakes, cereal, muffins, yogurt, potatoes, bacon, sausage, fruit, outstanding selection. Easily saved $20 eating breakfast here). The rooms are nice and clean, big enough (ours had a little stove, microwave, sink). The hotel is right behind a car wash which is a little awkward but not a big deal...overall a good location (right across from Schatz Bakery...skip this location and go to the one in Bishop if you have the time and it's on the way. For excellent coffee go to Black Velvet close by...their cold brew is outstanding). The guy that checked us in (Jordyn) was helpful & super nice (got an early check-in). I wish we could've stayed more than one night and I'd definitely stay here again. It wasn't the cheapest option but it's worth the cost.

« Exactly what we needed »

After spending a day at Yosemite, we drove to the hotel for a late check in. The room was comfortable, Breakfast was terrific and everyone got what they wanted. Great cook that made the eggs to order and pancakes too. Great hotel, I wish we had one more day to spend in the area.

« Good and comfortable [email protected] Western »

It was quite comfortable stay at Best Western, Mammoth Lakes. Breakfast was really nice and good. Hotel staff were very courteous and nice. Best thing is they offered a 1 hour late checkout without asking for it. We stayed at 5 different hotels during our trip and my 6 year old son liked this one the best.

    « Great breakfast! »

The complimentary breakfast here is fantastic! Made to order pancakes and omelettes. It just makes the whole stay even better. We had a great time. The room is large and comfortable and has everything you could need - microwave, coffee maker, sofa and a comfortable bed! Everything is clean and the staff are super friendly and helpful. It might not be fancy but it's good. Really good!

    « What a lovely location »

Booked last minute online, we'd never stayed at a Best Western, and we were pleasantly surprised. Check in was good and with free parking and breakfast included, the room was great value. We had an accessible room near the pool as this was all that was left, the drawback being that the shower curtain was too short in the wet-room and made the bathroom a bit slippery. The room was clean and of a good size. The breakfast the following morning was good, with eggs and pancakes cooked to order. Would recommend.

    5
    « Outstanding service »

The service was outstanding. All employees wanted to be sure we were enjoying our stay. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of options. Eggs and pancakes were prepared fresh. We will stay here when we return to Mammoth.

    « good quality stay »

Good location moving from Lake Tahoe toward Yosemite. Very nice and convenient.. Room rate was good for two bedroom unit. Breakfast was great, practically anything you could want, made to order. Would definitely stay here again while in the area. Easy access to all the Mammoth Lakes for good picture taking. .

« Weekend Half Marathon fun! »

Arrived before check in time and was very happy to find that the room was ready for us. the room was nice and clean. The desk clerk was outstanding--more than willing to help us in any way. We did have a small issue with the sink--it was fixed ASAP. The breakfast was one of the best that I have experienced--eggs cooked to order, pancakes, oatmeal, fresh fruit and fruit juice. All in all the experience was great and I would stay there again.

    « Wonderful stay »

After a long drive from Yosemite, we stayed here and was very happy we did. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very nice as well. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast. Although it was considered "continental", we had eggs made-to-order. There was other hot food as well. We only stayed one night, but wished we were able to stay longer.

« Amazing Place in the Mountains »

The Best Western in Mammoth Lakes has everything for a great trip for business or pleasure and both. The staff is incredible and extremely attentive. Managers Brent and Emily are fantastic and Jordan was the nicest and most professional check-in I have ever experienced. The breakfast is amazing with Arturo and staff and the maid service the best! Visiting the Eastern Sierra in CA you must stay here!

We stayed only one night. Room was excellent and the staff at front-desk were helpful in guiding us regarding the Mammoth Mountain activities. Without the staff suggestion, we would have missed all the fun that day.

« Excellent food and ervice »

I was pretty tired after long trip and stayed this hotel. This hotel's bed was comfortable and room was very clean and next morning breakfast was very excellent with varieties. All staff was quite helpful. Every staff was so active and kind. I would recommend this hotel to all travellers.

« Excellent Respite After 900 Miles of PCT Hiking »

After hobbling off the shuttle to Mammoth Lakes, we were greeted by friendly and accommodating staff. The room was clean and well-appointed. Breakfast, the following morning, was amazing, including buffet-style options and a cook-to-order breakfast bar. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and pool, soaking our aching feet and joints. Of special note, Jordan at the front desk was extremely friendly and made us feel truly welcome. Thank you. I think that the only downfall of our stay was the price; it was definitely splurging for a long-distance hiker's budget. However, being in a high-traffic tourist area, the price was to be expected. We gladly paid and enjoyed every moment of our stay.

    5
    « Consistently good »

I stay here whenever I am in Mammoth. The location is central to so many things, including shopping, restaurants, and sight seeing. The hotel staff is friendly, and service consistently good. Also, the breakfast buffet is really excellent, including home made pancakes and omelets. I give it 10 stars out of 10.

« Stay away... Whenever you can »

Travelung since 1990 and in many aereas I need to stay in chain hotels... Also Best Western... Not 5 star, but tvey mostly are clean and friendly... Not so the Best Western Plus in Mammoth... The only thing high standard is the rate... The front desk people is unfriendly and not willing to do any effort.. The room we got assigned to was a room in which somebody smoked... With asthmatic isdues ob a high level this is a no go... So we asked for another room.. Which we have been offered... Pet Rooms... With a kitchen in it... The whole room smelled like a döner kebab... The room we ended was a smoking room, with Pizza crust smired on surfaces and bloodstained (!!!) bedsheets... Well a Best Western Plus... But as I said only the rate was a plus... High as it can be... You think the management made a rate adjustment... No... They didnt... Rethink if you really wanna soend your precious time at the: Best Western Plus High Sierra in Mammoth

« Great staff and accommodations »

The Best Western in Mammoth Lakes is a nice place to stay. The staff was great! Seemed slightly expensive for a mid-week stay that located in the heart of things, and the internet/wifi was disappointing -- otherwise I'd easily give this Best Western an excellent.

« Best Value in Mammoth Lakes »

After an extensive search, we landed on this property for the Yosemite leg of our trip. Physical property was beautiful and immaculately kept up. Internet speeds were around 3-4 mbps. We were able to hook an iPad up to the TV with cables we supplied to watch Netflix and the speeds were adequate. The biggest issue with this property is parking. I appears they have just enough parking. You have to display a permit. We had difficulty twice finding parking. They door keys operate a little differently from the usual slide in keys. Ask for instructions *before* you spend 15 minutes looking for the slot!

    5
« Great hiking and access to Yosemite »

We have stayed at this hotel twice for great hiking and easy access to Yosemite. It is well worth the drive to upper Yosemite hiking trails. Beautiful drive to and from the hikes! Great restaurants close. Hotel breakfast is exceptional quality and included in your stay. We will stay again in the future!

« Great location and quiet room »

Great location for getting around Mammoth Lakes area. Friendly staff with quiet room and comfortable beds. Good breakfast. Nice indoor pool area and hot tub. After many days of hiking in the area, greatly enjoyed the pool and hot tub.

    « Nice Family Hotel »

My teenage son and stayed here for two nights while visiting Mammoth Lakes. The location is central to most of the town. Unfortunately a car wash sits in front of the hotel and really is an eye sore. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable. The hotel offers a full breakfast every morning. The food was very good. The service provided by staff members was excellent. Very friendly, knowledgeable and professional employees. Overall, we liked the hotel and enjoyed our experiences.

    4
    « Late night arrival »

Hotel was very nice and comfortable. We arrived late and my biggest complaint was getting a room at the very back and very last room. I have an ankle problem and requested a room closer to the elevator. The breakfast was wonderful with omelets made to order! Wifi was good and my daughter enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. We would stay there again.

    5
« Outstanding customer service! Amazing breakfast! One of the best! Best Western Plus.. »

Upon my check in, I was recognized by the General Manager, Brent and when I inquired about a top floor room, he immediately gave me an upgrade to a wonderful King suite with a kitchenette. Very nice small things like..real "glass" glasses to drink from. Not those cheap plastic cups.. Really nice lotion and amenities in the bathroom. A real "working" desk chair. Nice, most hotels, if they have one, the raise portion rarely works! only down side was the mattress needs replacing and the WiFi was slow and choppy. Would not stop me from staying here again.. The breakfast was very nice with a chef cooking your eggs to order...Very nice and much needed in the hotel chain world but this property "Gets It"! Covered parking too! Thank you Brent for a nice stay! I'll be back!

    5
« Tucked away but worth the effort to locate »

Despite the lack of directional signage outside the hotel, once found, it was a great experience. The front office staff were knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. The room was very clean and the night's sleep very restful. Breakfast in the restaurant was a step above with eggs cooked to order and offers from the staff to accommodate any request we had. We had a wonderful stay and would return.

    4
« great hotel, great breakfast! »

I've stayed at this hotel dozen's of times over the last three years, its a nice place, very good rooms, decent internet which is saying something in Mammoth Lakes. If you want an indoor pool and jacuzzi it's decent, not sure anyone else has that in this town. But the best part is the full REAL breakfast you get each morning, no crappy wrapped pastry and a banana for you here! Eggs cooked to order, pancakes, meats, fresh fruit, great oatmeal and mixings, plus cereals, juices, coffee of course.

    5
« Great location for off season travel into Yosemite NP »

Don't let the first impression bother you. The property is set back behind a gas station without much of a view. The property is excellent with a nice indoor pool and hot tub. The made to order breakfast is one of the best we have ever experienced with BW.

    4
    « Nice Experience »

This was our first visit to Mammoth Lakes and we were very happy with our accommodations. We booked a pet friendly room since our dog was traveling with us. The room was spacious, clean, with a microwave & refrigerator, and even dog bowls and a dog bed. There's a small workout room and an indoor swimming pool. A warm breakfast was included & a cook made your choice of eggs and pancakes. All in all a very good place to stay in the middle of town.

« Good value for money, comfortable, clean, airy and spacious room. »

Good value for money, comfortable, clean, airy and spacious room. The staff were friendly and the hotel was quiet, but we were out of season on a one night stopover. Eateries within walking distance. Free hi speed WiFi and free breakfast which was also included in the price. The breakfast buffet was varied and catered for most tastes.

    5
« Great place to stay »

Clean, and comfortable on the main strip right by the highway. Hot breakfast to start of the day and a jacuzzi and pool to wind down. Classy lounge area with couches and a bookshelf for waiting for friends or journaling on your own. Didn't get to check out the fitness center or business center since we hiked all day and had free WiFi for our phones and laptops. Really just an ideal place to stay to see Yosemite, Mammoth Lakes, and Mono Lake Tufa in Lee Vining.

« Staying Cozy as a Woolley Mammoth in Mammoth Best Western. »

Nice clean hotel. Staff were always very pleasant, informative and helpful....except for a bearded long haired fellow (forgot name) who stated I could get discounted lift tickets at the Shell station down the street. The Shell Station manager laughed when I told her what he said. He didn't work there the rest of our stay...just that first morning. Besides that, the rest of the staff were top notch! The breakfast in the morning was always very good and filling. The breakfast buffet staff always offer to cook you fresh eggs or pancakes. Excellent breakfast offerings to start a busy and exhilarating day. We will stay here again. Love the Chevron station in front of the parking lot...camping gear, GREAT Cappuccino, cigs (scorned in California) and even wines. Friendly staff here too.

    « Comfortable and affordable. »

We were able to check in quickly, which was great after driving for 6 hours. The room was extremely clean, and comfortable. Plenty of amenities, and you can't beat the free breakfast every morning. Room was cleaned every single day. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. My wife and I both decided that THIS is where we will stay next time we head to Mammoth Lakes, CA. And if we don't go THERE, we will seek out a Best Western Plus wherever we may be.

    « Good Location »

The Good - Good location. Nice breakfast. Rooms are adequate and clean. No stained furniture (or anything else for that matter). Overall, no significant setbacks. The Not So Good - Hot Tub closes at 10pm After a day of skiing, I like to relax with a soak that's on the more quiet side, meaning after families have sent the kids to bed. Tough to make that happen when the hot tub closes at 10pm. 11pm would make more sense from my untrained vantage. Also, it would seem to make more sense to have pool towels at the actual pool rather than forcing guests to go to the front desk to get towels. The front desk can get busy. Seems odd to have to possibly wait to get a pool towel...The layout of the hotel is a bit funky with only one elevator and some back stairs that take a bit of a circuitous path. It's all a bit tricky with luggage, skis, and ski boots. Yes, one could take the main elevator and then hike it all the way to the back of the hotel. It would probably be a good idea for whoever checks in the guests to explain exactly how the layout and access points work. And perhaps provide suggestions as to how to access one's room from the parking lot. It's not hard to understand once you've done it once or twice but it's not exactly intuitive or user friendly (in my humble opinion)...The hotel charges for lost room card keys? Haven't seen that one before. Seems to me a lost card key is a cost of doing business for any hotel. To pass $1 a card key cost onto the customer seems a bit intrusive. I checked to make sure I wasn't accidentally charged for a lost key and if I had not double checked, I would have been charged due to an error on the hotel's end. So I do encourage guests to check to make sure about incidentals before checking out. Sure, it's only a dollar for a lost card key but there's a principal here...Also, I noticed some of the exit doors are a bit heavy to push or pull. That's a bit clunky if you're a senior or carrying stuff. And when entering or exiting a hotel, one is oftentimes carrying stuff. General Note - Yes, I did have more to say about the "not so good" in this review but it is a nice hotel and I would absolutely return for a stay at low season rates. High season I can imagine is a bit pricey but that's Mammoth.

« Querky room layout but it seems to work »

A good mid priced hotel. A warm welcome, room spotless, easy free parking and free hi-speed wi-fi. Seems a funny place to put the basin outside of the bathroom area but that's just a personal opinion. Comfortable bed and decent sized flat screen TV. Indoor pool and spa. Good breakfast with better than average variety. Will stay again.

« Why didn't they tell me the road (passes) from the West would be closed at this time of year »

I booked this hotel in early April 2016 for 3 nights in late April 2016. Travelling by car from San Francesco, coming from the West in order to get to the hotel it requires driving through some mountain passes which are normally closed until mid-June or later. The hotel took my booking without mentioning this and then charged me for one night ($200) when I was unable to get there.;...Amazing !

« Indoor pool and hot tub »

The usual Best Western functionality, spruced up for the Plus, with three excellent additions. The ski-sunburned young man at the desk really seemed to enjoy giving us local tips. A spa indoors and actually open was lovely, And the breakfast with eggs cooked to order was quite civilized.

« one of the very best BW hotels we've stayed in...ever »

It is a pleasure to check into a hotel and have absolutely no problems, outstanding everything...room, internet speed, clean, comfortable beds, outstanding breakfast (maybe a little cramped and the line flow was odd) and very helpful front desk staff. We highly recommend.

    « Rip off »

Reservation snafu got the nights mixed up would not refund my full room fee $125.00. These people are senior abuse rip offs. They are classless will not listen to reason when speaking to manager. Accused me of using profanity with the desk clerk who was rude. No profanity was used during our conversation. This place is completely unprofessional. All the care about is there bottom line.

I made a mistake on the date of my reservation, it thought i made it for Friday night. When I showed at the hotel the young lady at the front desk said my reservation was for Thursday and we have charged your credit card but we do have rooms for this evening. I told her it was a mistake could you please credit me for a room for the night, no was her answer we didn't make the reservation you did it as your mistake.

We decied to stay a night in Mammoth Lakes at the last minute on the way home from another trip. We happen to run into this Best Western. Jordyn was awesome!!! Got us a great room at a great price. Could not have been happier.

This hotel has everything. Nice atmosphere, excellent breakfast, clean, and exceptionally located in the center of the city. Half way from the Village and slopes, and half way from downtown and Minaret Road shopping center.

My family and I stayed for the Second time at this hotel and we all ready reserve for December this year. The hotel is clean, safe, and comfortable. Great staff and fair breakfast. We like and recommend it.

« Higher priced with no advantages except breakfast »

The room was nice - 2 double beds. It didn't look worn overall, but the sink is outside of the bathroom which is a pain if you prefer privacy when drying your hair, showering etc. Also, NO VIEW. You can get a less expensive hotel that is a bit older, with room nearly as nice but with a great view of the mountains. I would have preferred to pay less and have a great view rather than pay more and have breakfast included. Wouldn't stay again based on exaggerated rate and no view.

    « Mammoth »

Great hotel great location. Pool is nice for the kids it is indoors. The Breakfast in nice don't have to eat on the slopes. The beds could be a little more comfortable. The parking is good. Basically can leave your car and either walk or use the free shuttle service in town

    « Seriously Great Value »

My last two visits to Mammoth included stays at the ski in/ski out Westin and I fully admit, if they had rooms available this weekend, I would have stayed again. They didn't and I wanted to ski so went online to find the options. I fully admit to grudgingly getting reservations at the Best Western. Wow was I wrong. Check in was simple and friendly. I requested a quiet room and was placed near the end of a hall. Our room was quite large and extremely clean. I never heard a single sound there in either of the two nights. The room price, extremely reasonable, included wi-fi and a better than average breakfast -- pancakes, bacon, sausage, yogurt and fruit. Everyone who works there was friendly. Even though the weather was nice this weekend, most of the parking is covered which is nice. They do NOT charge for parking. The shuttle bus stops in front of the hotel making it unnecessary to ever move your car. Terrific value

« Excellent Value for your Money. »

Spent Spring Break here to ski and relax. This hotel offers the best in terms of value for your money. Breakfast included eggs and pancakes made to order and from the buffet. Fresh fruit, yogurts, oatmeal, cereal and different types of breads, juice, milk and coffees were available. Room had two queen beds and small fridge and microwave. The pool was clean and had a hot tub. What I really liked was that everything was very clean. I will be back .

« A very nice hotel for visitors of Mammoth Mountain »

I love snowboarding at Mammoth. Unfortunately most of the hotels on and around the mountain are outdated and very expensive. I chose this hotel because it was significantly cheaper than the local resorts. Even though it is expensive for a Best Western, it is significantly nicer than the Mammoth Mountain Inn and Juniper Springs Resort.

    5
« still one of the best hotels in Mammoth »

It was my second stay at the Best Western Plus High Sierra Hotel. The rooms are clean, well maintained, the staff is friendly and the breakfast in the restaurant is free. The hotel is right at Main Street but it is not in walking distance to the downtown area Again i was very happy and can only recommend this hotel.

    « Great location »

The hotel was exactly what we needed. Great stay and perfect location to everything! We were able to walk to everything. It set back from the main road and offers a lot of amenities. The price was a bit high but only because we booked a week out. We were lucky to get it. We were very pleased, would definitely stay again.

    4
« Clean, spacious and handy location »

Hotel was very clean. Pool area is a little worn and dated but very clean. Beds are very comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was substantial and of a decent standard. We will definitely be staying again.

    « Great location & included breakfast »

Right in the village and very helpful staff. The breakfast is included and much better than most. The chef will happily cook eggs to order. Great selection at breakfast. Good value hotel, very clean and comfortable.

« Best breakfast ever for a hotel »

This hotel was conveniently located and reasonably priced for the area and the season. What put it at the top of our list though was the breakfast! It is the bomb! Pancakes, ham, sausage, oatmeal, juice, muffins, fruit...and it was good quality. We couldn't have asked for a better start to our skiing day!

« Ski Trip to Mammoth »

While visiting Mammoth for the first time we spent two nights at the High Sierra Hotel, a Best Western affiliate. The room was comfortable and as typically spacious as most hotels you would find while away from home. The location was quite close to the slopes and it was easy to drive to and from the tram at the lodge. Staff were very accommodating and professional. The free breakfast was far and away the best breakfast outlay that I have experienced on the road. It was not a "continental" breakfast but boasted your choice of fried eggs as well as the "standard" scrambled eggs. There was a choice of three breakfast types of meat - bacon, sausage, and ham, as well as potatoes, pancakes, oatmeal, and assorted fruits. The only irritation I experienced was the WiFi. I was unable to keep my internet connection from more than ten minutes without having to "disconnect" and then connect again. The streaming capabilities were almost non-existent which for someone who functions in the world of online education is a sure source of frustration. Overall, the experience was pleasant and I would recommend this hotel for visitors to the Mammoth Lakes area (if they minimally need WiFi access).

    4
    « Best Western PLUS »

It is a great hotel -- and very reasonable price. It is the hotel I prefer when visiting Mammoth Lakes, CA. It is not one of the newes hotels but is is rather new. We have stayed at some of the older hotels and really prefer this one. There are some very nice, expensive hotels around but this one is well taken care of and we like it.

« Solid Hotel For Skiers »

The Best Western in Mammoth Lakes is a very good stopping point for skiers, especially for the price. I've been using the Best Western as my place to stay for the last 4 years as it is especially cost effective if not coming in a group (over 2 people) where sharing a condo is possibly a better deal. This is not a fancy hotel - it is a pretty basic Best Western - but it suffices very well when you are off the slopes. Also it is still in walking distance to a number of stores and restaurants even though it is on 203 as well as close to a shuttle bus stop (and coffee/tea place!). All important on those snowy days when you just want to leave your car under the covered porticos. The rooms are spacious (i.e., can store your ski equipment in them) and the bed is especially comfy. The bonuses are: Jacuzzi, pool and very decent complimentary breakfast (a must have prior to a good day on the slopes). Lastly, the staff there is always very friendly/accommodating when I have been there. Never a problem. Overall, this is a good place to stay. I would certainly come back again with no questions.

« Great place to stay for family ski getaway »

The Best Western PLUS High Sierra Hotel was a great place to stay with family for a ski vacation. We showed up early for our reservation and were able to check in before hitting the slopes for the afternoon. The staff was super friendly and happy to accommodate us getting into our room around 10:30am!! Great location and the shuttle for the village/skiing is right off of Main St. The continental breakfast was great- included eggs to order, bacon and sausage, pancakes, fresh fruit, bagels, oatmeal, etc. Hearty breakfast before hitting the slopes. We only used the hot tub- but the area was clean and attractive. We will definitely be back!

    5
    « Like going home »

Best place to rest up, relax in the hot tub, and have a nutritious, free breakfast. It's the perfect place to start and end a great day of skiing or any outdoor activities. I feel very comfortable at this Best Western PLUS High Sierra Hotel; it's like going home!

« BW Serves Mammoth Sized Complimentary Breakfast »

What a hidden jewel the BW PLUS High Sierra Hotel in Mammoth Lakes. Rooms were clean, quiet and plenty accommodating. WiFi was super easy and speedy. Breakfast was unreal, not your typical Hotel Continental Breakfast, the BW Breakfast was "Mammoth" with eggs made to order, pancakes, ham, sausage, bacon, fruits, cereal, bagels, toast, juice, etc. You can't beat the set up with kids, saved us big $$$ eating at the ski lodge and allowed us to ease into our fun family ski day.

    4
« Decent hotel in a remote location »

Stayed here as we were passing by Mammoth Lakes and expected a clean hotel in good condition for a one night stay and this is exactly what we got plus a great new comfortable bed. It was also great we could do our laundry on our long trip in the hotel. Breakfast was included, but was really low quality. Eggs made from concentrate, bad coffee, overall low quality of food. The pool and hot tub nothing to rave about, but it was there.

    3
    « Avoid holiday weekends! »

I normally don't like to give so-so reviews but for the price I paid over the Presidents weekend i am disappointed. I understand that it is a holiday and rates go up, but this is honestly ridiculous. I have stayed in Times Square, Hollywood and several other places during a holiday and didn't pay this price. The room was just ok and was the typical old hotel. I don't know if I would stay here again.

    5
    « Always A Pleasant Experience »

We are season pass holders at Mammoth, and stay here multiple times a year. We always feel at home and comfortable here, and this time was no exception. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and their training in customer service really shines. At check in we were helped by Jordyn, and his friendliness and helpfulness was a pleasure. The rooms are well appointed and clean, the housekeeping staff really does a great job. The breakfast buffet is great and the restaurant staff was extremely pleasant this trip. There really is every reason to stay here. One tip: bring your own pillow, theirs are a little uncomfortable.

    « Best Wester Mammoth »

A very nice hotel close to ski area with breakfast and indoor hot tub and pool. Good size rooms with average amenities. Breakfast was good with hot meals included. Beds were descent, though could have been a bit more comfortable along with pillows. During high season or peak travel, parking could be a challenge at the hotel as spots are limited. Pool water was a bit cold, however, the hot tub hits the spot after day of skiing. Being indoors make it even better during the winter season. Kids room also available, however, not always open. Free Wi-Fi is also provided. TV programing is average with few HBO programing.

    4
    « Good Stay »

Great staff. Property showing a little wear but perfectly fine. Free breakfast was as good as it gets. Location is next to public transit and easy drive to Canyon or Main Lodges. Nice indoor pool and hot tub. Will definitely be back.

« We keep coming back for our skiing trips »

This is a really nice 3-story hotel located next to Kittridge Sports on Main so it is very central to everything. We came in late January to ski. The rooms are quite large, the bed very comfortable with plenty of pillows, a large sofa and large widescreen TV. The heater kept the room exactly at the right temperature. One recommendation is to request a room without a connecting door as it can get a bit noisy. Maid service kept our room clean and tidy. It was snowing the weekend we came so the covered car port parking was much appreciated. I had to put chains on so it was nice to do it under a roof and not with piles of snow around you. They have a grader come in to move and pack down the snow which makes it easier to get in and out. When it snows these car ports fill up quickly so if you are lucky enough to get one in the early evening, leave it and have dinner at the on-site Café 203 or walk across the street for dinner at Slocum's or Perry's. The hotel has a large indoor pool and spa for relaxing in after a day on the slopes. A big bonus is the included breakfast with made-to-order eggs and a variety of meats, fruits, pastries, breads, juices and coffee/tea. The Café staff were friendly and accommodating to our needs. The hotel staff was very friendly and whenever we came up front there was always someone at the front desk and not hiding in the back. Like I said we keep coming back because it is a great hotel.

    5
« Great Value - Liked it Better Than the Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa »

I have stayed at the Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa and the Mammoth Mountain Inn during stays in Mammoth and I liked the Best Western best. I really like that the breakfast is included and was very high quality with attentive caring staff. Having the pool and jacuzzi indoors was also a big plus to me. The rooms were larger than the others and the beds were comfortable. The front desk staff is a bit too lean and I would have preferred black-out curtains in the room but other than that, we had a great stay and I would definitely come back.

« Best western plus plus plus »

We've just returned from a 10 day stay and can't praise this hotel enough. First off the practicalities - great location with ample parking and ski shuttle just down the road. Large rooms with all of amenities you need. Breakfast included, laundry facilities, pool, hot tub and gym. It's got it all! BUT HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE - these guys go the extra mile. Your room will be super clean, your bed super comfy - good job housekeeping. Your breakfast cooked by a friendly team who care that you enjoy it and will whip up your eggs fresh to your liking. The reception staff are accommodating, informative and friendly. The managers will personally introduce themselves and ensure your enjoyable stay. All for a really affordable cost. We were further impressed by the extra effort made when we were inadvertently disturbed by other guest activities in the early hours .. we were upgraded for our whole stay - outstanding service and customer care, particularly as this was in no way a responsibility of the hotel. I recommend 301 as a great suite with separate living area and micro/fridge/hot plate facilities.. Not that we used them with all of the nearby restaurants. Thank you and well done to 'every' member of staff who looked after us. If Best Western award honours, you deserve gold class ??.

    5
« Excellent Rooms and Breakfast »

This was my third stay here and as always the manager and staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and the maid service perfect. They provided a full breakfast that rivaled some of the best hotels I have stayed at around the world. The location has great restaurants, stores, and bars within easy walking distance. The free Mammoth bus to the ski lifts, pickup stop, is only a block away. I will be going back next month for another week of skiing.

    5
    « Great value »

The hotel is located in a great area for shopping, restaurants and skiing. The staff is excellent and very accommodating, including the maids who work hard to clean our rooms. We always stay here each year for our skiing trips.

    « A great sisters' trip! »

We decided to take a few days and visit Mammoth. Three of us were going to ski and others were going to relax and explore the town. We were told check-in wasn't till 3:00pm and we arrived at about 11:00. When we arrived we got lucky and our 2 rooms were ready for us! Wish they would have had an airport shuttle...a suggestion. We found our rooms very clean, neat, and comfy. Plenty of room for our suitcases, etc. Hotel had nice looking pool area and fitness center, but we didn't have time to use them. Was excited to see a laundry room which is always handy! Breakfast daily was yummy and dining area was large and cozy. There was a business center upstairs we used one morning and overall we felt very comfortable during our whole stay. Location was super convenient for area shuttle too.

    3
« Hotel close to Mammoth Mountain »

This hotel is a convenient place to stay while visiting Mammoth Mountain. The staff is outstanding, always with a smile on their face, and breakfast is nicely presented with a variety of foods and eggs done the way you like by the chef. The negative would be that the rooms are dated with old fashioned heating and refrigerator noises and the walls are paper thin and so thin that whenever the wife next door started to talk to her husband I was ready to respond!

  • 4
« Good Hotel, Good Value »

The room was very clean and comfortable. The Jacuzzi was very nice as well as the heated pool. I enjoyed utilizing the jacuzzi after a day of skiing. The breakfast in the morning is excellent. (lots of choices!) The entire staff was friendly, polite and professional. I plan to return next month. (pray for Snow!)

« Everything you need in a value hotel »

The hotel is conveniently located: two shuttle stops (less than five minutes) from the main village. A few minutes more, and you are at the main lodge and the first of the ski lifts. You can really park your car and forget it. Like most Best Westerns, the High Sierra is really clean and well-kept, with comfortable beds. The décor is dated--the bloom is off the rose--but bearable, and without that musty odor or dinginess of most older hotels. The staff is friendly and courteous, from the front desk to housekeeping.(Housekeeping was worthy of a generous tip.) Everyone is eager to answer questions and to help. The free breakfast consists of the standard Best Western fare with the added bonus of a short order cook who makes pancakes and fresh eggs to your liking. I agree with the other reviewers: the walls are thin. We heard the doors slam, and the thud of heavy boots. However, the timing was predictable, and none of the guest were boisterous or nuisances. They have the service and comfort part under control. A little sprucing up and an investment in a better linen service (the pool towels were a little rough) will allow them to compete with the newer luxury places.

« Excellent stay next in Mammoth! »

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The hotel is close to everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room is a good size. The location is close to ski slopes. My son enjoyed the pool. The breakfast is great and they make excellent eggs. Love the hotel and the location.

« Great location on Main Street, Great Value - Great breakfast! »

Clean, comfortable rooms - this is an older property, not luxurious, but very well maintained. Great Breakfast.. The staff is friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our stay very much, it's very centrally located on Main. They do have an indoor pool - if travelling with kids, bring the suits. One thing - the walls are thin, we could hear our neighbors' loud movie; however, one quick call to front desk, and they quickly took care and made them aware of the noise level - and the neighbors were more considerate after that. Overall, a very good stay...

    « Great Hotel »

This was an amazing hotel, everyone was very sweet and helpful. It made our stay comfortable. We loved the free breakfast and everything about this hotel. We will definitely come back to mammoth and stay at the Beast Western again. One of the best hotels we have stayed in a very long time.

« Great affordable well maintained Hotel »

We went with another couple to stay in Mammoth all with our kids. The Hotel is conveniently located, well run and maintained. There is a pool and a good breakfast. Do not go to Slocum's Restaurant across the street they do not welcome families at all!

    « Great hotel »

This was my second time staying at this hotel. I chose it because of the proximity to the bus line and especially because of the hot complimentary breakfast. They offer a lot of choices. Fresh fruit, cereal, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, sausages, pancakes, potatoes. Anyone that complains about this is crazy! The rooms are comfortable and have everything you'd need. Wi-fi is included and was good enough for my purposes. I will stay here again.

« BEST PLACE IN MAMMOTH!!!!!! »

This place is the BEST!! I travel for business, and this is the ONLY place I stay when I'm in Mammoth. I tried a few other places that were close to my workplace, but I was hooked after my first stay here. This is a great family friendly place as well. It is the perfect place to come back and thaw out after a day of ski/sledding. It even has great accommodations for your car and pets. And the rooms DO NOT smell like pets! The rooms are nice and super clean, the breakfast is warm and delicious, the breakfast staff is super friendly, and checking you in is Jordyn. Jordyn is WONDERFUL! Jordyn goes above and beyond. He recommends great local places for dinner, and has even moved his own car for me under the covered parking so that I would not have to dig my car out of the snow in the morning! He even carried my luggage out of the snow! It's people like Jordyn that will keep me coming back! :)

    « Dog-Friendly Room in Winter »

Stayed 5 nights in December, room 225. The dog-friendly rooms are regular two queen bed rooms located near the back entrance on the second floor. There was a dog pillow/bed and a set of stainless steel dog bowls in the room. Pros: Room was large enough to place our hard-sided, large dog kennel in the space between the bed and the wall. The temperature controls worked and there was plenty of heat and hot water. The room was clean, with no obvious signs of residual dog after affects (like globs of dog hair or stains on the carpet). The back entrance was convenient to take our dog outside without having to go down long hallways. The hotel breakfast was good, although the eating space is limited so there were times when we had to wait a while. A couple times we ate at the empty seats at the bar, which was fast although we didn't sit near each other. The fitness room was a regular room with a good fan, two treadmills, one elliptical trainer, one spinning bike and a weight machine with cables. The TV in the room didn't work while I was there. The water fountain was also empty during my stay. I used the spinning bike, which was in excellent condition and one of the treadmills, which was also in good shape. Cons: The covered parking is limited and not very effective for keeping snow off the vehicles. It snowed twice while we were there and the plow service was prompt at clearing out the parking lot. Unfortunately, it left a wall of wet, sloppy snow about 3 feet high right at the end of the parking slots. Nobody at the hotel attempted to shovel it away and it froze in place, whch then meant we had to chip away at it ourselves to get our car out the next morning. There was a shovel near the front lobby that guests were using to get their cars out, but there was a lot of complaining going on in the parking lot. Overall we had a good visit and would definitely stay here again.

« Great location, really a good value »

Just off of Main Street smack in the middle of Mammoth Lakes. Less than 4 minutes driving to Canyon Lodge and the ski slopes but quite affordable. The included breakfast was well above what we expected. Large rooms including some with kitchenettes. Would definitely return.

« Big and clean rooms »

We really enjoyed our stay for 2 nights in this hotel.. I booked it with employee discount, so I can't tell you about the price, but through the eyes of an insider everything was alright. Good breakfast, kind staff, indoor pool, cheap laundry (self) service inside the building, clean rooms with everything we needed. Lake Mary is a short but wonderful hike and of course don't miss the hot springs!

    « EXCELLENT »

My wife and I went to Mammoth lakes on thanksgiving, we were expecting problems because the date. We found this hotel at a very good location, and we did a try... but what a very nice surprise! The hotel was beautiful and comfortable we were received by a nice guy at front desk. Our room was very clean, the bed supper, nothing to disturb your slept, no noises, warm and super clean everything looks like they had special care about the customer satisfaction. Outside of the hotel the weather was extreme, very cold, but inside the hotel warm and nice we were there like in home.We had our complimentary breakfast and the food was so good also. All the staff in this hotel was nice and friendly always serving with a smile! « Good nights sleep in central location »

Nice room, clean and updated. Quiet. Very nice breakfast buffet in morning. Staff were very helpful. Pool and spa were nice & clean. Restaurant on site wasn't open for dinner, but they gave coupon for appetizer at place across street which was nice.

« Good place to stay in Mammoth Lakes »

We spent 1 night here in early October on our way from Moab to Yosemite. The property is a little difficult to find, since it sits behind a gas station. Thank goodness I had read on the forum about the location, so we were able to find it without too much difficulty - thank you other travelers! Some of the parking was covered, with parking spaces large enough for our GMC Denali with out squeezing. The room was comfortable - everything was clean, the bed was comfortable, we had a microwave and fridge. The bathroom arrangement was not the most convenient. The vanity was in the room itself, and the toilet and tub/shower were in a separate compartment. The door to this compartment would not stay open - it was designed to close automatically, probably due to its location at the door from the hall. This arrangement was definitely not to our liking. The included breakfast the next morning was the best we've had at any of this level hotel. Freshly cooked eggs and breakfast meats, plus good coffee. Pastries and juices were also available. The staff manning the breakfast area was pleasant and helpful. The young man staffing the desk at check-in was not really helpful, but the young woman we encountered later was terrific.

    « A very nice Best Western »

I like most hotels of this chain, and this one has bragging rights. Located in the middle of local activities. Large well equipped rooms, covered entrance and some covered parking for the snow season. All the amenities needed for a long stay. A bit hard to find being off the main street tucked behind a car wash, but that makes it quiet.

« SMELL OF, VIEW OF???? »

After getting our keys from a very nice woman at the front desk we parked and walked to the side door closest to our pet friendly room. There are two doors to get through and they swing opposite ways so if you are carrying your bags it just doesn't work. First door opens in and the second door opens out with not enough space to not get stuck. But okay, we can handle that, just doors. We opened the second door to a strong, strong smell of something like chlorine - you know that smell that many of the enclosed pool rooms have in hotels that prevents you from actually using the pool? Damned this wasn't looking good but hey, it's only the hallway. Got into the room, looked dark but very nice, went over to the window to open the curtains for some light and to our delight found that we were in subterranean digs that look out at the wall of another building 10 feet away. We felt like troglodytes. We are paying AAA rates of over $130 for this pleasure. Why do dog people pay more and get the worst rooms in this joint? Never again. Never.

« Good overnight Best Western »

This Best western is of a good standard. We had a large quiet room clean with a comfortable bed. Pool and hot tub are great. Good breakfast. Check in check out could be improved with a smile...:). Do not leave anything in your car with scent as the bears have a tendency to roam around at night and would break in to get the goodies. Price a bit high but I guess it is a resort town. Would be back in we pass by Mammoth Lakes again.

    « Enjoyable stay »

Very nice room and breakfast in a very scenic Sierra location. Staff was very helpful in providing information as to getting to local sights and dining locations. Breakfast selection very good. Would stay here again.

    « Not so plus... »

Stayed here based largely on their website description. It is a clean and comfortable Hotel that has a good cook on-site breakfast included in the price. There is adequate parking some of it covered. Staff is efficient but not overly friendly. Their website mentions a restaurant and lounge but that was closed apparently some time ago. The website also mentions shops and dining within walking distance and there is a restaurant across the street, however the village area which has many shops and dining options would be quite a distance if you were to walk. It is an OK hotel just over sells itself on the Best Western website.

« Good Choice for Mammoth Lakes »

Larger than average rooms, with comfortable bedding, in a nice central location, with a better than average included breakfast, allow me to recommend this very nice Best Western. Even if Mammoth isn't your destination, it's only a few minutes off of 395, and is a good choice for travelers on that route, especially during spring and fall. Only minor problem, I was unable to get the AC to work, and had to crack a window.

    « Great Hotel »

Arrived late that night so no problem checking in. Room was clean and it had a bigger TV than most places. Breakfast was great. Eggs, country potatoes, sausage, pancakes, salsa, muffins, biscuits, cereal, toast, coffee, orange juice, apple juice. Stayed one night but there were no problems.

« Beautiful Hotel that is dog friendly »

We were looking for a hotel that would accept a small dog and this Best Western provided the best of everything for him AND for us! Beautiful room that also included food/water bowls and bed for our dog. A full service breakfast was included. Security was excellent. Staff was friendly and accessible.

    « what a breakfast »

We stayed at the Best Western Mammoth Lakes on Oct 18. Our room requirements are simple. We want a clean room, good quiet nights sleep on a firm bed. Our room 332 was larger than we expected. It had a microwave and mini fridge. I normally like the wash basin inside the bathroom because I can then use the basin early morning without disturbing my spouse. In room 332, the wash basin was outside the bathroom, and positioned such that the wash basin light lit up the beds. Our queen size mattress was firm on one side, but lumpy on the other. The lighting in our room was good. Internet access was free and simple. The general location is in the resort area away from hwy 395. The breakfast was continental plus with fresh eggs, bacon and Canadian bacon, country potatoes and fresh fruit. It was probably one of the best we've ever had at a moderately priced hotel. All things considered, we had a good stay and would recommend this hotel to a friend.

« Good location. Good value »

I had read several reviews of this Hotel and after my stay feel that the staff exceeded my expectations and helped maske my overall experience a pleasant and hassle free one. The breakfast was more than adequate and well presented. The staff were friendly and efficient . The location was nicely located and we were able to enjoy the restaurants within walking distance. The rooms were well serviced and clean and overall the hotel appeared well cared for. I would certainly stay again.

« Nice Overnight in Mammoth Lakes, CA »

The hotel is located in one of California's ski resort towns on the east side of the Sierra, hotel room was comfortable, wifi reliable, breakfast was above average for Best Western hotels, hot and delicious, staff was friendly and helpful. Mammoth Falls has the ski resort feel, gas was overpriced, downtown parking is limited to 30 minutes free, pay to park lots available, lots of restaurants to choose from.

« Very good but a bit pricey »

The rooms are very large with nice furniture, a comfy bed, nice mountain views, HD TV, lots of towels, safe, fridge, microwave and free parking (some covered). Staff was very friendly. The free hot breakfast was very good. Although everything about the hotel was very good, it was a bit pricey (probably due to proximity to Yosemite). Strangely, the Indian restaurant which is attached to the hotel was closed at 7 pm on a Sun night. To find the hotel, you need to turn into the entrance that looks like you're going into Chevron. The hotel is behind Chevron.

    « Enjoyed our stay! »

We have stayed in many different hotels and condos in the Mammoth Lakes area over the years and this hotel has become our favorite for many reasons: Price, Quality and Location. Very tough to beat the value, friendly staff and many good shops and restaurants within walking distance.

    « Very nice surroundings »

The hotel was inviting from the moment we stepped into the lobby. The room was nice although a little cramped. The amenities were nice. The only problem was the hotel restaurant being closed and we had to run across Highway 203 to go to supper and back and in the dark that was dangerous.

« Good stay but need more luggage carts »

Good place to stay at Mammoth but they definitely need more luggage carts for guest use for check in especially if the hotel is busy which I believe is the majority of the time. I have stayed at several hotels in Mammoth in the past and this was my best overall experience.

« Not friendly with customers who book online »

The property was nice but the maid service was only adequate. One day they forgot to clean our room all together and we had to wait just to get towels to shower after a long day of hiking & biking. When checking out we described the lack of cleaning the room but nothing was even noted because we booked online.

    « Good hotel »

Great hotel and a great breakfast!! The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We were very glad we stayed there. They had sheltered parking for our motorcycles which was very nice. I have to say again how great their breakfast was. Much better than any other best western we have stayed at. And we stay at alot of best westerns.

« Not bad for the price »

W chose here based on price and also the fact it may be noisy staying right in the village. The hotel itself appeared fresh and new and is nicely decorated. Breakfast was ok and what you would normally expect from best western. The staff were friendly. The coffee however was truly awful - the one day it tasted like they had put six times the amount of coffee they should. Even adding hot water did not really help. The room was a king bed room and was spacious. Comfortable bed and all very clean. Wifi was a little slow but fine. The only real negative is the location- it is by the side of a tire garage and petrol station. Our room overlooked a roof. You will not get views from any room. There is a free town shuttle that will take you to the village but be prepared to wait as they did not run to schedule on either day we used them. We caught the bus up to the village and walked back as it was all downhill. It takes 15-20 mins but beware it is down a main road and some of the route has no sidewalks! Next time we may look for something closer to the village even if it costs more

« Great Location, fun town! »

Prior reviews have commented about the condition of this property, so I was a little concerned about our stay, but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff here are wonderful. While the hotel is older and the outside could use a little sprucing up, our stay was perfect. We were in room 305 and the room was huge! Bed was very comfortable and room was quiet. Housekeeping staff went to a lot of work to add personal touches, and they did not go unnoticed, room was very clean. The breakfast went far and above the usual continental breakfast, and had a chef that prepared fresh food continuously. A group of motorcyclists were eating when we arrived and there was plenty of room to sit and we did not wait for our food. Cute town with lots of personality. Would definitely stay here again!

« Clean & Quiet, Great Cont. Breakfast »

Our stay at the Best Western Plus High Sierra in Mammoth Lakes was a pleasant and restful visit. The beautiful foyer and mezzanine invited us in with a good feeling about the property. We asked for a top floor room and they graciously provided a nice one. The room was large with an approx. 40" TV, a fridge, microwave, 3-way lights that actually worked, and it was quiet, quiet, quiet. The property is located about ˝ block off main street behind a gas station. Our room had two queen beds. It was clean throughout including the floor and bathroom. The furnishings were clean and up to date including the bath tub caulking. There were two upholstered chairs in good condition. The beds were nicely firm without any sleeping divots. Each bed had 4 pillows, there were real glass drinking glasses, a coffee maker, several accessible electric outlets, USB chargers, and a wall mounted thermostat. The heater worked well. There was lots of walking room between beds. There were two drawbacks to the room, both of which I reported to the front desk the next morning. The first is that the bathroom fan was very noisy, so much so that we were reluctant to use it out of respect for the neighboring rooms. The second item did not bother us much and but I reported for future maintenance, that being, a small patch of of broken pixels on the TV. It was in an upper corner of the screen so did not interrupt viewing. The breakfast fare was typical of most continental breakfasts except that the items were of much higher quality than most. There were homemade thin pancakes, real scrambled eggs (we watched the cooks make them), ham, bacon, large and delicious sausage links, fruit, breads, real orange juice and much more. A voucher is given to each guest at check-in for the guest breakfast so the cooks can differentiate overnight guests from breakfast walk-ins. I was very happy with the Best Western Mammoth Lakes. I would stay here again. Cost was $150 including tax. Score 5.

« Good for Vacationers; Not so much for Business »

This place would be fine for a family vacation. It has a pool and spa, with refrigerators and micros in rooms. For a short business stay, it's okay but it really doesn't cater to that. It's kinda hard to find as it's right behind a gas station and noisy car wash. My room wasn't very modern and the bed was a bit long in the tooth. Still, I thought it was a decent value and it was close to everything I needed.

    « Comfortable »

After a long drive we were happily greeted and given precise details including, parking permit (free), how to get to the room, breakfast times, extra indoor pool towels and local amenities. A complimentary brew at reception was an added bonus as the weather was nippy for the time of year. The room was clean, warm, modern, and well looked after. The location is ideal with a few picturesque shops and restaurants within walking distance. Would recommend.

« Excellent location, nice hotel »

Right off main street near shops and resturants. In door swimming pool and clean quiet hotel. Rooms are spacious and I was delighted that they made the effort of making it welcoming and charming with towel figures and contaniers and best of all they had a very nice wooden lap desk that I enables me to sit in bed and type on my kindle in comfort. Ive not seen this in any other hotel and it's quite a nice touch. The room has a microwave, small refigerator, coffee maker, and safe. It's nicely appointed with flat screen tv, king bed with seating area containing coffee table and sofa bed. Breakfast was included in price of the roo. The room looks out to another part of the hotel which is ok because we are spending the majority of our time outdoors and needed a place to spreadout, relax andn get a good night sleep before continuing our journey.
