"Family run hotel "

4
26/08/2018

How funny is this: the family that runs this hotel is called Van der Made and the hotel is located in the small town called Made. No coincidence. Locally run. Breakfast is very good, although the breakfast room has no windows letting in daylight and the bottle in the cooler with the tag 'Champagne' was ... spumante. Same difference I guess. Staff is friendly. Rooms are nicely decorated. The inroom info said: a safe in every room. Well, no, not really. Not a big deal, just some minor details that can be improved upon. Would stay here again.

"Obsolete and noising rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast, high quality restaurant"

I've been in this hotel several times and there are many things that are very bad and other things that are pretty good. Let's say that the personnel is very friendly, professional and available. The restaurant is a bit slow but the quality of dishes is ver very good. The breakfast is good too but the new breakfast room is not pretty at all. It is infact too big, table are old, everything seems to be less familiar than before. I preferred to make the breakfast in the restaurant because there the atmosphere was much better. Let's go to the worst part of this hotel meaning the rooms. They are old and obsolete, but at least enough clean. The windows are fast all broken, if it rains there is the risk that it will rain in the room. There is noise everywhere, coming from the bathroom pipes and there is never free rooms that they can give you in substitution, they are always fully booked. Only few rooms have air conditioning, so sleeping in this hotel is quite difficult.

"Great people but....."

The staff is great and really helpful. I was here with a colleague and we where unlucky with the room. The bathroom was really smelling in both rooms. We assume there is some mould issues. The staff was really helpful with changing the rooms, but as well the second room was smelling to some pvc stuff. It seems there was some maintenance done. The third was okay no smell, but I find out that the room was located next to the service room (it servers). The sounds was loud enough to be irritating enough that was disturbing my night sleep. You can recognise that the hotel rooms didn't have a lot of upgrades. The rooms are outdated what is a pity because the restaurant was really good and again the staff is really great. Based on the rooms I would not book that fast a room anymore which is a potty because all the rest is really okay.

"Not as the outdoor pictures make it appear."

The communal areas of the hotel were finished to a good quality giving their 4 stars. The room was a good size, comfortable beds with adjoining ensuite, but pillows in rooms need replacing and upgrading. The breakfast was plentiful with good choices. Parking facilities, were excellent, and private to the hotel, although not easy found if unfamiliar to the area, as they were at the rear of the hotel. The room was rear facing, with no view. The window opened fully, with no safety features, any families with children need to be aware of this danger. Quality complimentary toiletries required. Next to a busy road through the town, the picture advertised makes it appear as if in its own grounds, but this is a through road, busy, and the only outside sitting/eating area is next to the road. We ate in the restaurant, as there doesn't appear to be much choice in the town, the food was beautifully presented and served, polite staff.

"Bring earplugs, a bed, pillow and fungus remover"

Even though the bedroom was small, the bathroom was TINY, dirty and outdated. Lots of fungus in the corners of the shower. Giving the room a bad smell. The sink is a design choice, which disables normal use, like wet shaving. The room is very noisy. The old wooden floors carry steps and movements loudly, the heating pipes kept me up all night. The bedlinnen made my nose clog. Breakfast was mediocre. Staff was very busy with the phone (personal conversation), kept me waiting rather long, for a simple enquiry to the bathroom - and busy with each other. Odd feeling of being ignored. Complaint was taken, was referred to the website.

"Wow what a disappointment"

After making a reservation by phone with a very friendly staffmember I hoped the hotel would be as good. Unluckily that was sadly not the case. Arriving at the hotel on a weekend day, we were assisted by a stafmember (restaurant not frontdesk) he sad he could not use the system as he didn't know it and the staffmemberr who was supposed to start at 12 had not (arrived yet. She did owever 3 hours later). He was very apologetic and friendly but when I asked for a different room as it was really tiny and gave me a claustrofobic feeling, he said I had to wait till the frontdesk staff was in the Hotel. Whe she arrived she was super friendly and efficient. Unluckily the replacing room for the one that was like a shoebox, was not much different. Just a different lay out which gave it a feeling of being bigger. Compared to other hotelrooms we stayed in The Netherlands this was by far the smallest. As it was for just one night we didn't fuss to much about it. Unluckily, even though the bedroom was ok, the rest/bathroom was TINY, dirty and outdated. Lots of fungus in the corner of the shower space and redges on the floor as well. The room is decorated in a variety of styles and there is no consistency and is not really well thought through. Probably has not been redecorated or fitted with new stuff in a decade of more. The staff was super, the room.....awfull, the breakfast was good but not special and staff, different than the one at the frontdesk, were not receptie. Tree times I had to wait 5 minutes at the bar with the coffee machine to ask for a coffee. Even though the girls walking by had seen me several times. If they can train part of the staff to be more receptive and update the look fo the rooms, maybe even give up a couple of rooms to give the others a bit more space. It would be much better. But with very few comopetitors in the surrounding area it is not likely. A really good placee to have lunch (the restarauant of the hotel is also a good place as I was told by someone who stayed there before. Good but expensive for a hotel with such rooms ) Churchill pub at the end of the road (150 mtrs) up the road is a hoot and has good. Beers, ciders, bar food, all you can eat restaurant at the back and dart and pool corner. Cheers.

"Beds are good but bring earplugs!"

Check in was friendly and quick. Room on the second floor was small and very noisy. The wooden floors make you hear everything. The heating pipes also makes ticking noises and the door in room 203 doesn't close properly so if you sleep with the window open the draft will make it move. Don't go here for the view ;) The room was clean and the beds are good and comfy! WiFi is free and fast. Breakfast is good.

"Excellent value for money - good friendly service and good food!"

Stayed here with a group of friends for two nights - all had single rooms. The rooms were small but comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We all had the 3-course dinner, which was excellent. The staff took into account our dietary wishes (one person glutton free, no dessert but cheese platter) - no problem whatsoever. Unfortunately we had one rather noisy night as it seemed that some guests left in the early hours of the morning - making a lot of noise - suppose the hotel can do very little to avoid this. Excellent value for money/
