"Overnight journey break - train"

John J, Leyland, United Kingdom 13/05/2020

Within a short walk of the TGV station. The hotel and our bedroom was very clean with comfortable bed and ensuite bathroom. The room was a little on the small side but it is a city centre hotel and it was still ideal for our services. Excellent breakfast but with our deal it was at a small extra cost. The staff we dealt with were very courteous and dealt with any request quickly from suggest several places to eat from advising a quick walk after a day travel.

"Tiny hotel and rooms and poor service"

jaf5, Leicestershire 06/10/2019

I was booked in here with a group male friends and the hotel had booked us in to double rooms (i.e. two grown men sharing a double bed!) instead of twin rooms. After requesting a change of rooms, they were very unhelpful and did not offer any alternative solutions. To make matters worse, the hotel itself and the rooms are tiny, the lift only just fits two people and the double beds were also barely bigger than a single. The rooms are air conditioned, but you can only change the temperature by phoning reception! There are also great views of the railway, which runs right behind the hotel! Others from our group stayed, but I booked in to a 2* hotel not far away that was much more modern, had larger rooms, air conditioning that you could alter yourself and friendly welcoming staff. If you are planning a stay here, then I would strongly advise booking somewhere else.

"Friendly service"

Susan A, Adelaide, Australia 02/07/2019

We spent just one night in this hotel and though the room was very small it was spotlessly clean. The receptionist, Rosalie, was charming, welcoming and helpful. She recommended a great restaurant, served drinks for us and lent us an adapter for the mobile. She is a great asset for this hotel. The breakfast was fantastic....the best scrambled eggs ever! It is a 5 minute walk from the station and there is a great eating area a short distance away with many restaurants to choose from.

MysteryMine, Espoo, Finland 27/06/2018

Air conditioning does not function: either freezing "windy" 16 deg. or hot, nearly 30 deg. The closest railway rail is amazingly just 5 m from the window: think noise and dirt. This should be max two star hotel and prices should be half.

"Nice exterior and photo on website, sucks inside by true experience!"

656clairey, Sanxia, New Taipei 14/06/2018

Nice exterior, sucks inside. It is too narrow that you even can't open one suitcase. The room is noisy because of the rail. No hot water to take shower! No fix to the problem. Never choose this hotel. True experience!

"It's not a 4 star definitely"

Joana S, Lisbon 07/12/2016

The hotel is tiny and near railway station so it might be perfect for someone that will stay only one night to commute to other places. I've stayed there because my company is nearby, 5 minutes walking but it doesn't compensate the price 130€ per night and I have the company tariff so it should be lower. The breakfast is ok but it's not a 4 star hotel breakfast and the room is really small. You can have scrambled eggs and turkey or chicken ham, orange juice, croissants and fresh bread. Nespresso machine is also available but there is no soy milk whatsoever. I did not hear trains during the night but they will pass early in the morning ( ~5 am in the morning ). the room was clean and they change towels every day. You will find better prices in other hotels definitely. For me the only problem was the quality vs price and being near railway-station because of the noise. I've staid at 5th floor.

"Wonderful hotel with good transport connection"

579lillak, Budapest, Hungary 25/06/2016

The room was a little bit small, but for one or two person it is perfect, especially if you go there for sleeping only. There are air-condition and laptop desk in the room. The bathroom is very clean and well-equipment. I really enjoyed the breakfast: scrambled egg, pancake, croissant and Nespresso™ coffee. Good location with underground and tram station and a shopping center also is in the neighborhood.

"A real robbery"

Almoni06, Brussels, Belgium 17/06/2016

If you have any doubt about the fact that the hotel rating system is a joke, this one will take care of it. This hotel is supposed to have 4 stars (confirmed by the reception) ... a real scandal: rooms are ridiculously small, the breakfast is basic with no staff available (the receptionist did her best), the place is noisy, ... On top of it, the control system of my AC was not working. Oh, I forgot, the bill was definitely 5 stars: 270 euros! 3 stars hotel with 5 stars bill: the average is right!!! Now I get it.

"Good little hotel well placed for exploring Lyon"

CandD2003, Chichester, United Kingdom 17/05/2016

This hotel is a stones throw, quite literally, from the railway and a few minutes walk from the Lyon Part-Dieu station, it is well placed for exploring Lyon being on bus, tram and metro routes into all the main visitor areas. Also well placed for the trams to the Airport and new OL stadium. Room a bit small but perfectly adequate and comfortable with a wonderful shower. Breakfast - French in style - had a good selection and set you up for the day ahead. Staff friendly and helpful (most speak English). We weren't kept awake by the trains, even with the window facing the track open all night, but others might be. If you are a train spotter, or were as a child, you will enjoy watching the trains go by! Will be happy to stay here again!

"It does as it says on the tin"

brianrE7264HF, Province of Alicante, Spain 07/11/2015

Small rooms but clean and functional. The smallest lift in the world for sure as its the size of a small wardrobe, not for the claustrophobic. Friendly professional staff and a small garage for your car at €15 per night. I'd advise you to book this as the streets are nose to tail parking so parking nearby is almost impossible. Excellent choices for breakfast and good value for money but no restaurant within the hotel for dinner. There's a great French restaurant within a 5min walk of the hotel.

"Functional hotel at the train station, small room"

LilliMadrid, Madrid 14/09/2015

The hotel is a good choice if you arrive very late or have an early departure from the train station (but would not choose it for another kind of stay). The rooms are modern, functional and have everything you need, but the room I had was really tiny – you open the door and kind of fall on your bed, impossible to get in there with a huge suitcase. Although there must be some insulation you can still hear the trains, but the noise is not too bad. Service was very friendly.

"Noise from trains kept me awake all night"

Chester_Robx, Chester, England, United Kingdom 03/09/2015

I would not stay at the Best Western Richlieu again due to the problems with noise from the trains. They regularly pass by, noisily, all night and I got hardly any sleep due to the poor sound insulation. The room was modern, comfortable and clean but I couldn't enjoy it. The lift is very small. Not worth the €160 that I paid.

"Appalling - but staff try to save this sinking ship"

Alistairio, London, United Kingdom 01/03/2015

This really was a dreadful couple of days in this hotel. The lift was creaky and très petite. The room was tiny too. I arrived late so ordered some room service. Worst croque monsieur ever. I was surprised how noisy the rooms were. It sounded as if there was a train running right next door. Actually there was! This is right next to a major rail line. Check out my picture of the view from the bathroom - over looking the delightful scenery of France's transport engineers. Breakfast was a miserable affair. Foolishly, arriving late after another day working, I ordered room service which officially ranks as my 'WORST EVER ROOM SERVICE MEAL'. I complained to the front desk and asked what they thought of that dish and they laughed and said they have never eaten it. Kindly they refunded my money on that. The staff were great. Especially the team on the front desk. They are saints. I observed a stream of unhappy guests turn up and shout at them, and they were polite, understanding and helpful. Not even these poor souls can save this place. And it is not even cheap. They charged me a fortune.

"Worst experience ever!"

tara_j93, Mooloolaba, Australia 22/01/2014

Tiny room, very dirty - definitely not worth the price we paid. Bathroom was tiny, no shower and holes in the wall. Definitely not 3 stars either! Only good things is that it was close to the train station.

"In the average"

luissma, Madrid, Spain 02/12/2013

Not a real three star hotel but very clean and reasonably calm taking into account the proximity (only a few meters) of the railways of Part Dieu train station (consider choosing your room carefully). Bit defective bathroom; not shower curtain, windows directly on the shower... Kind staff, quite near from city's business center with a perfect access to Lyon's transportation network.
