"Good Room in Well-Situated Hotel"

We spent three nights at the Best Western International in Luxembourg. The hotel was very well-situated indeed, located just across the square from the railway station, and within comfortable walking distance from the historic old towns. The room was very pleasant up on the 5th floor, quiet and private, with a nice view of the railway station and environs. The air freshener used, however, both in the room and in the corridor, was rather overpowering at times. The breakfast was good, and the restaurant elegantly designed. One male staff member at Reception went out of his way for us late one evening and came up to help sort out a problem we were having operating the TV set. Accordingly, this hotel should have merited a '5' rating, but I have given it a '4' due to the most surprising unfriendliness and coldness of the staff at breakfast on the three occasions we were there. We have never encountered anything like that in any of the many hotels we have stayed at in Europe or in Asia, and could not understand why in the world that occurred. Otherwise, all was fine as described above!

"Ordinary Hotel needing renovation"

I reserved a one bed room... and I didn't expect the bed and the room to be that tiny. Additionally shower function in the bath was providing a poor service. On the contrary breakfast was good. Overall I would probably spend a bit more and look elsewhere.

"Noisy, small room, not value for money"

Previously I stayed in this hotel and had a good room. This time I was allocated a street facing room which was very small. The lights were hard to get working. The pillows on the single bed were only 75% normal width. Internet seemed to have limited speed. The air conditioning consisted of a desk fan I found in a cupboard, however I had to crawl under a table to unplug the kettle to plug it in. With the windows open the noise from the street was really loud (drunks, street work, refrigerated trucks). Other guests were just as noisy - my door was banged during the night, a nearby TV was turned on loud at 4am. I was glad to leave.

Luxembourg doesn't have enough hotels and this is reflected in the quality. This hotel needs refreshing and the rooms at the front need better soundproofing as they are noisy at night. Breakfast was ok, service was ok. Could be a little more generous with the complimentary tea and coffee in room.

"This hotel is a fraud"

The hotel accused me of smoking in the room, which I had not done, and charged 200 euros for that. Very unhelpful attitude in resolving the issue. Won't recommend to anyone and will not be visiting again. Otherwise, decent location but rooms are small and old.

As a business trip, it was pretty poor. Arrived at about 5.00. Came down to reception at 7.00pm to find it unstaffed...and the bar was already closed! I came back from having dinner out, at about 10.00pm, and discovered no coffee sachets in my room, only tea, and the mini bar fridge not working. Apparently, the 'tea only' idea is a management decision. I realise that it's near the station, and not in the best location, but some effort for the guests who do book would help.

Hotel is well located close to the station and was easy to get to from the airport. The room was basic and My room was very noisy all night due to the location next to the station. No shampoo was provided so I had to buy some. Breakfast was adequate and staff friendly

"No AC"

Was there on a tour last week. Room was clean but very small and dated. The room we received had no AC, the temperature was in the 30s outside and the window barely opened. The little fan was not enough. We did try to switch room but were told it was not possible.

"Central, ok"

Arrived very late due to flight delays, the taxi ride from the airport being about 20 mins. I was greeted in very good English, got my room swiftly, along with whatever information I needed. The room on the first floor turned out to be ok; not new, not stylish but had all it needed, and clean indeed. The bed was ok, neither that one new, but if you book here, please ask for a room on one of the higher floors. Luxembourg wakes up early, and the noise, which started before 6 am, was not what I would call minor. Of course, the hotel is on a densely trafficked street, right opposite the main railway station, so you had cars, but also masses of train commuters, and even with the window closed you could more or less hear what they said. After a good, albeit short night it is always a pleasure to step into the breakfast roo to see what they have on offer. This one was good, a rather typical continental with a good selection of cereals, bread, fruit etc, everythin I had was tasty and fresh. So, if you come by train this is not a bad choice at all, but to bring the standard to the expected level I think that some refurbishments would be needed.

"I slept well"

Comfy, clean and well located acommodation for families, singles and professionals. Very nice and helpful staff - thank you guys for your advice, fresh lemonade and a Toblerone candy. Decent breakfast with fresh ground coffee.

"A functional and friendly stay"

Situated just a stones throw from the main railway station and main bus routes, but a little further from the old town and casements. Staff were friendly and helpful, the dining areas serves as a functional open area and the breakfast was very good. The room I stayed in had been converted and although it was clean, it was very noisy due to the area and the lack of air-conditioning.

"Decent hotel"

Stayed here for a couple of nights on a short break in Luxembourg. It's a typical Best Western in décor, clean but dated. The in room safe required a key from reception (50 Euro deposit)! We arrived early and were allowed to check in, which was a nice touch. The hotel is in a great location opposite the train station and a short walk into the old town. The downside of this of course is that it is very noisy with the window open (there is no air-con). The breakfast was nice, with a good range of hot and cold options. The coffee however was truly awful, possibly the worst I have had in a hotel.

"OK stay"

Pros: -Great location. As others have said its right opposite the main station, where you can get trains and buses to a variety of locations. The bus from the aiport (no16) also stops there, which is really convenient. -Breakfast is included (although this is limited in my view) -Spotlessly clean -Fairly quiet -You can leave your luggage Cons: -Staff were not that helpful, in fact pretty abrupt when we had questions or an issue. -Rooms are TINY – not great as a twin. Can't really get into the bathroom without touching the one bed -Rooms and hotel in general very dated -Poor toiletries -Pillows are very odd – odd shape and so uncomfortable -breakfast very limited, particularly if you don't eat meat. Overall if you can get a good rate and you're not in the area for long this could be a good option. However, this is a 3star, not 4 in my opinion. I wouldn't pay what we did again, I'm sure there are better options in that bracket, but it's ok.

"we enjoyed it"

Stayed as a small family group in May 2018 Location: Great location - close to restaurants, supermarkets and transport links. Right across Luxembourg Station (you can go for day trips eg to Metz which was what we did) - Bus number 16 goes to the airport and stops opposite the hotel. About 15 minute walk into Old Town itself. Hotel: Clean, had a restaurant onsite which seemed pretty popular every time we looked. Room: We had a twin room with a balcony which was nice. No air con in room which for us wasn't a major problem but it might be stifling hot later in the Summer. The room didn't have the greatest sound proofing either - I always travel with ear plugs and it served me well! There was a kettle in the room which was an unexpected pleasant surprise. Room was clean and more spacious that I envisioned. Food: We had breakfast included in our rate- good selection of hot and cold items- eggs bacon toast coffee tea juice cereals fruit Staff: Professional, seemed to appreciate my attempts at French! (They do speak English also) All in all a pleasant stay and if I was to return to Luxembourg I would definetely consider a return to this establishment.

"Cozy, clean and good breakfast "

Single occupancy room with one bed is ideal for a solo traveler. It's a small room but has all what a traveler needs: a bed, desk, closet and bathroom. Breakfast is very delicious with lots of options. Reception and housekeeping staff are friendly. The only thing I didn't like is the smell of cigarettes at the lobby because people smoke in the entrance, it is quite bothering and strong.

"Hotel and dinner"

Simple hotel. Hotel was very clean with a minibar in the room. No outside seating at bar or restaurant. Food was exceptional not your typical best western in the USA for dining I enjoyed a nice French meal.

Thank you very much for your comment , we love that you share your good experience with us. Have a very nice day

"Good location, decent hotel"

I was previously checked in to this hotel, but this time I had the better impression. Check in and check out very fast, the staff efficient and helpful. The room was small but spotless clean. The bed very comfortable, good pillows. Kettle with complimentary coffee and tea available on the room. This time the Wi-Fi was reliable and working well. The standard breakfast, with warm dishes, cold cuts, pastries, fruits. Nice personnel, good coffee. The hotel is just across the street from train station. Many shops and some restaurants in the area. Many buses connect with city center, the airport, Kirchberg area, etc.

"Good location"

It is located just opposite to the train station. It takes about twenty minutes walk to the city centre. I stayed there for one night on 15 April 2018. The room was small but it was no harm for staying one night. It had a mini bar but only two free tea bags were provided. No free drinking water was provided but there was an electric hot water pot. The service of the front desk staff was good. A buffet breakfast was included in the room rate, it was good enough. The room rate was around 95 Euros per night. Just to conclusion, it is no harm to have a short stay there but honestly I do not know why it is rated as a four stars hotel.

"Great Location for the Train Station"

Stayed here for a couple of nights while on business in the Area. As one meeting was over the border in France the hotel was ideally placed to catch the train first thing in morning - literally just across the road. The rooms were basic but clean enough and not too cramped. Breakfast was pretty standard for a Lux Hotel, didn't eat in the Restauraunt but had a couple of beers in the bar and watched the world go by outside the window. I would recommend a walk out of the Hotel to admire the views of the Grund, but just take care around the hotel, its not as bad as some station areas in Europe but to you have to be aware.

"Simple hotel near station"

Hotel next to the station , simple to reach, simple but clean room and just sufficient for one night. Woudl not want to be there for more then a few days since too small rooms just to turn around in Friendly service Very good breakfast

"Great location"

Stayed here recently for a business trip and enjoyed my stay. Hotel is nicely located centrally enough for a walk into the town center and also directly next to the main train station in Luxembourg to make use of the decent public transport system. Room was very spacious and quiet. Rooms could do with an air condition as you can't open the windows because of the noise level outside. Got a little stuffy after a while so I wonder how it would be in warmer outside temperatures. Probably would ask for a room in the back of the hotel next time. Hotel staff was very friendly and fluent in at least 3 languages (French, German and English). Breakfast was very nice with the usual standard hotel choices.

The hotel is super central. Opposite the train station and perfect for those who travel by train or need to reach the airport. The hotel has also a restaurant, where you can enjoy your meal until very late at night. The staff was kind at all times. I had an issue with the hot water in the room and they solved it in few minutes literally. The room was very quiet and very well equipped. The breakfast buffet sumptuous and the wi fi excellent

We are really happy with your comment , thank you for sharing it, have a nice day and we really hope seeing you again

"Very well located good comfortable hotel"

Superb location just outside train station but not in any way seedy or rough. Brilliant transport links to Luxembourg bus service which I needed very day. Had an economy room facing inner aspect. Good size with excellent bathroom good water pressure for shower. Accept that there is no a/c but it was January/February so needed a warm room - and the room was always comfortable. Staff at reception all friendly and helpful and spoke great English. Breakfast plentiful and well stocked. No issues - would happily stay here again but perhaps in a room with a/c next time.

"Very comfortable hotel, ideal for business stays"

24 hours reception, with perfect and rapid check-i/check-out service. Ideal for business stays. Quiet (small) rooms with all necessary amenities: comfortable bed(s), desk, small comfortable sitting area, comfortable bathroom with some useful products, TV (with very few channels though), high-speed internet. Ideal well-connected position.

Reception B, other at Best Western Hotel International, responded to this review
Hello dear Valentina! Thank you very much for your advise, it is very important for us. Let's we know if you come back in Luxembourg =) Have a nice day, best regards Andrea

"No-frills beside train station"

I've stayed here several times on business as it's convenient, being close to the Gare, with most city centre buses stopping outside, offers an excellent buffet breakfast, and is generally good value (expect to pay about €100/ night if you book ahead, which is excellent for Luxembourg). It's a good 20 minutes' walk to the beautiful Grund which is by far the most interesting area of Luxembourg, so I'd recommend staying here only if you're a business traveller. Cheaper rooms (which often overlook a small internal courtyard) are small but adequate, if a little dingy, with good bathrooms.

God morning dear Jonathan, thank you very much for your advise. We hope to see you again in Luxembourg! Best regards.

"good location to explore luxembourg city"

we stayed here for 4 nights on a city break.the location is right outside the train station.the transfer from the airport is about 15-20 mins by bus.the hotel is perfect to see not only the city but also if you want to go further a field.the city hopper bus stops right outside the hotel and there are several bus stops aswell,so you can get to every part of the city.the hotel itself was clean and the staff were very friendly.the rooms were adequate with all the basics you need and were nice and clean.the breakfast was very good.we had dinner here one night which wasn't bad and not to badly priced.overall a good hotel in a good location.

"Quiert rooms but bad service"

The room had no noice from street or the other rooms Room was clean Internet with code was not the fastest on this planet There was no restaurant in the hotel, what they called a restaurant only served fast food and snacks no real food Ordered a taxi for the airport, it never showed up so I had to get one my self

"Great location"

Convenient location in front to train station, big and cozy rooms. The staff was helpful and friendly. We have some problems with Booking website with our reservation, but they offered a reasonable solution.

"A bit of a mixed bag"

What you cannot fault about the hotel is the location. Right opposite the main train station. This is a blessing as it lets you get the most out of Luxembourg's excellent public transport system. But with this comes a lot of noise and hustle and bustle. We stayed for 4 nights in July/August. It was warm in the city and this hotel is not fully air conditioned. Not all rooms have air con. Our first room didn't so we had to have the window open....which made the room so noisy we both needed ear plugs. We asked to move rooms to one without a view...but still no aircon, but thankfully no noise. If you are a light sleeper and need to be cool...this may not be the place for you. The breakfast is about what you would expect of a continental breakfast, it certainly met our needs. Our only poor experience was on our last night when we finally decided to use a voucher that we had been given for the bar. We arrived at about 10:45pm to be greeted by a very grumpy member of staff who reluctantly served us, before then turning away another guest before 11pm, and closing shop!

"Met our needs!"

Clean, spacious room! Friendly staff of the front desk. Breakfast was a bit lackluster but there are other cafes nearby you can visit instead. Only downside was pillows were far too high- more like a cushion and super uncomfortable! Positives - only 15 mins walk to main town and bus 16 from airport stops directly outside!

"Sooooooooooo Central"

This hotel is so central for buses and the train station as they are just across the road. When we arrived check in was quick and easy and the receptionist was fine. We find if you talk and have a joke then people are fine. We were upgraded with NO charge and without any request from ourselves. Our room was on the second floor and at the front and overlooked the train and bus station. Although we had air conditioning, at night i turned it off and opened the window, although it was noisy, so the following night i left the air conditioning on and closed the window, hey presto, had a good nights sleep. The bathroom was clean with toiletries. Kettle in room, although the only grumble was only 2 teabags 1 sugar and 1 milk. Good job I had my own supplies. The breakfast was more than adequate, cold meats, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber. Croissants, bread rolls, bread. Cereals, seeds, fruit and yogurt. Scrambled egg, bacon, jams etc. This hotel offers FREE WIFI which worked well.

Situated 20 minute walk from the city centre with motorcycle parking just outside the hotel and a warm welcome from the receptionist, this clean modern hotel seemed ideal. Unfortunately the room had no air conditioning so was very hot and stuffy and even with the window closed the street noise kept us awake a large proportion of the night.

"Pleasant stay"

We stayed here for two nights. The hotel is situated conveniently accross from the station. An easy 15min walk to the old town. Our room was divided in 3 separate rooms consisting of entrance with a cupboard, short passage, a bathroom and a bedroom. Although a bit old and dated everything was clean and neat. The bedroom was well equipped with a bar fridge and coffee and tea making facilities. The room was just extremely hot, there was no aircon but there was a small fan we could use. Breakfast was good and had a good variety. I can recommend this hotel for a short stay.

"Beware--terrible service and dirty hotel"

The great location is not worth the dirtiness and awful service. We paid for a room with air-con and the receptionist (don't know her name--young woman with short brown hair) told us it was NOT what we paid for. Even after we showed her the receipt that said "air-conditioned room" included in the hotel amenities, she said sorry there's nothing she could do. We had to call our intermediary for sort it out. We were in the right and was given a partial refund--but no thanks to Best Western. This is the kind of service you will get at this hotel. Besides from that, when I reached down to plug my my charger, I realized they never vacuumed the carpet because there were half a dozen French fries on the carpet underneath the desk. We didn't bother calling them because we knew the service we would get. The restroom also had mold/rot. We stayed for one night, and thank god, not a day longer. Despite its good location, there are other places nearby that will treat you better. Front desk lady acts like a jail warden. Don't stay here unless you want to ruin your vacation.

"Good service and breakfast"

The staff were all very good from the bar to reception to restaurant. The breakfast was very good and also the bar food and drinks. The rooms were comfortable but I would suggest paying more for air con as they got hot and if you leave the window open the noise can be very loud.

"Excellent location"

The location of the hotel is excellent, literally in front of the main train/bus station. The old town is within walking distance (10 - 15 minutes). The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Good quality and varied breakfast buffet. I would stay again.

"Good business hotel, Wi-Fi now works well"

This is one of the hotels I use often in Luxembourg. In the recent couple of years they have improved the quality of the rooms. The WiFi is now good. The TVs while of much better quality still suffer from often bad quality channels where "rice" in the image is common. The air-conditioning in summer is sometimes insufficient. Except for the lady at the reception and the cleaning staff that are welcoming and cordial the rest of the personnel seems indifferent - some training would seem advisable. The location, just in front of the railway station, is very good.

"Close to station but no frills"

If you want basic, no frills, comfortable if a bit small beds and close to the main station in Luxembourg, this is the place for you. Rooms are dated, TV is small, sound proofing is poor as my room was on the road and was woken up in the middle of the night. Only positive is that it was clean, personnel was nice and welcoming and it's close to the buses that go pretty much anywhere you want.

"Very good balance between quality, service and cost (RECOMMENDED)."

This hotel offers a very good balance between service, quality and cost. Nice, friendly employees, approaching you every day with a laugh, being helpfull and appropiate information, especially about local happenings. Extreme easy accesible hotel (in front of the bus- and train station) and only a short walk away from the city centre. I recommend this hotel to everybody who wants to visit the cultural and historic city centre and stay for a few days / nights.

Reception B, Director de Relaciones Públicas at Best Western Hotel International, responded to this review
We appreciate your valuable comments and look forward to serving you again soon :) Best regards

"Perfect location!"

Perfect location, right opposite the central train station (Gare Centrale) and good bus links to everywhere, including 20mins on the bus to the airport. Room - we had a double, which was a very good size and had a beautiful view of the central station. Free wifi in the room. Breakfast - buffet, good selection of food!

"Business stay"

Generally very poor and dated interior. Despite a request for a double got a small twin over looking an office block. Parking is only at the railway station and is expensive factor it in on any visit. Will not be returning here, not at all relaxing before important meeting, bed very uncomfortable. Unable to get hot drink in room as kettle won't reach plug you have to move it on the floor then only green tea in room.

"Good location! in front of the Central Station"

Stayed here during New Year's eve! The location is a walking distance from the center and there's a lot of stores and restaurant nearby as well. The room we got had a nice view in front of the station and the room itself is very clean The breakfast is a nice buffet which satisfied my morning appetite. The only problem I had are the staff's lack of PR. Every time we came in not even an eye contact was made or just a simple hello. Probably because of the language barrier..

"Overnighter on route to Switzerland"

Picked this hotel on price and location. Just what you would expect from a city centre hotel - not over large but the room was clean and had every thing you need for a quick stay. Bathroom too was clean and had plenty of fresh towels and soap, shower gel, etc. My room had two (smallish ) singles but they were comfortable and after a long drive and a couple of the local beers, welcoming ! Breakfast was good and plentiful in a light and airy room with a view of the station. Some people have mentioned the rather dodgy area around the hotel but this was no worse than any other large city and didn't detract from my stay.

"Opposite Railway Station"

This hotel is on the other bank of the river than we usually stay. It is approx 10-min walk from the city centre, just opposite the railway station. Our room was sort of modern/old fashioned style. Reception area is tiny, Restaurant for breakfast very 70s style. But in fact it was a good experience in our beloved Luxembourg City.

The main attraction of this hotel: it is across the street from the main train station (1 min walk). Everything else is average. Breakfast was ok. It's near the City center and there are numerous restaurants nearby.

Reception B, Director de Relaciones Públicas at BEST WESTERN Hotel International, responded to this review
Thanks for your comment, we appreciate your opinion, our goal is to provide you an excellent service. We hope to exceed your expectations on your next visit. Thank you

"Not brilliant but ok"

Reception area is compact but tidy. My room was small and basic. 2 single beds that were comfortable but small. Room heating was also poor. Shower was small and the shower itself was not that good. Difficult to set right. Room was clean though and all looked acceptable. However, being a diamond card holder I expected an upgrade and was disappointed this did not happen - WHY? Breakfast was good. Also room is very nice - just needs a couple of good pictures on the tall walls Also was good value for Luxembourg Room issues make it only a 3/5

"Good, room for improvement"

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel for the location and the front view of the central train station. Staff were ok. In every Best Western Hotel we visited we were always given tea/coffee service in our room, but here we were refused this service. The bathroom needs updating. as the shower cubicle was tiny, could hardly move and were given large cushions as pillows which we are not used to.

"OK service, very small room"

Hotel next to the main station, so good location, although everything closes by 7 pm!! Area looked like red light district to me so no great for kids - too obvious. Parking really far and very expensive. Room was so small as to fell claustrophobic. Could hardly open the bathroom door as it was so close to the bed! Very nice large windows that made the room bearable Breakfast poor but staff helpful

"Lovely staff, great location a pleasure to stay in "

I had never been to Luxembourg so I took a gamble booking a hotel I've never read about prior but this hotel was lovely and the staff were exceptional. So polite and helpful, really made us feel welcome and were on hand to help us find places to explore and really enjoy our stay in the city. I asked for some tea and hot chocolate for my companion and the staff went over and above with display and care taken with such a simple task like tea and cocoa. I had a lovely stay here. Thank you

"Good Hotel in Convenient Location"

Price reasonable also. Hotel is clean, staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast is excellent. Location close to transportation and city is very convenient. A bit noisy because it is across from the railway station but mostly because of construction on the street outside. Would definitely stay there again.

"Very good hotel"

I have been twice so far in different rooms. The first visit beter than next one. Room with nice view to the old Railway station. The second a bit worse, just because they renovated street close to the room. Anyway good service, very good breakfast and quite nice location.

"Location fine, hotel average"

Nicely located with every kind of public transportation nearby. I got a room near the lift/staircase and it was extremely noisy in the mornings and evenings. The quality of WiFi is rather bad. The rooms are OK though somewhat small. Breakfast was OK. As always in Luxembourg the staff weren't very friendly.

"Clean standard hotel"

Clean hotel on a central location. The architect and interior designers were not very inspired when they built this, but well, it's a decent place to stay. Friendly staff and correct service, average breakfast...

"The hotel with the excellent location for tourists who arrives by train"

We took the room in this hotel for two days, to visit Luxembourg city. I have chosen the hotel near the main train station, because I do not like to bother myself with luggage and taxi, or other way of transport. I have read, of course, the opinions of other travelers. My choice was excellent. The hotel is just 50 m opposite the main train station, with modest price, pretty good breakfast, 20 min. from the center on foot (you can take the tram, as well, the station is opposite of the hotel, and every tram takes you to the center of town). There is only one inconvenience - the double room was a little bit too small, but we were only two nights.

"We ate here.....!!"

We were staying nearby and looking for a different place to eat - we were not allowed to sit in the proper dining room but as we were hungry and tired we accepted the bar area! The food was mediocre - edible but nothing more! The lady serving both the meals and the drinks was stressed as she was on her own and was therefore quite "nippy". I certainly would not repeat the experience!

"BEWARE - Watch for extra credit card charges after you leave the hotel!!"

I unfortunately had a very bad experience staying at this hotel. -Two days after we had left the hotel, I noticed a 5€ charge on my credit card from the hotel. We called them up to ask them about them and the receptionist claimed that the cleaning lady had found an empty water bottle in our room's trash and so, they charged us for supposedly using the minibar. We told them that we did not use anything from the minibar, as we bought everything we needed from the nearby supermarket and that the water bottle we tossed in the trash was of a brand they didn't even stock in the minibar. His reply was that he would check with the cleaning lady the following morning. After not hearing from them for days, I sent them an email to inquire about the matter again. Their reply this time was completely different; they claimed that a bottle of sparkling water was missing from the minibar and they suggested that maybe me or my partner had forgotten drinking it (!!!). Talk about TERRIBLE customer service! I was extremely dissapointed and did not expect them to treat their customers like they are stupid just to get a little extra money from them. Even though the charge was small, I'll now be disputing it with my credit card company just because I hate these sly practices. I would advise anyone staying there to ask them to do a check of the minibar with you present when you check in and before you check out (something that didn't happen with us) to avoid this kind of bogus charges. -The room was average (definitely not worth the price we paid for it though). Keep in mind that most rooms are noisy because of the heavy traffic and I didn't get a quieter room, even though I had asked for it two weeks in advance when I made the booking. -The wifi is unbelievably slow, almost unusable. The only good things I can say about this hotel is its excellent location opposite the train station, with supermarkets and shops in walking distance, good bus connection with the airport and ok breakfast. However, I think you can find much better hotels for the price we paid.

"Sloowww internet connection..."

The hotel was well located but the room was small, stuffy and pretty dark despite being on the 5th floor, and the internet was very very slow which was really frustrating. Besides, when we asked for a kettle, it turned out all of them were already given away (apparently it's a 4 star hotel...). However I enjoyed the bathroom which was spacious with a good lighting and good shower.

"So so.."

Here are the main features: - location: in front of the station. Most rooms are noisy because of the heavy traffic. - rooms: tiny, rather ugly, with a not very comfortable bed and a pretty basic bathroom. There is no air conditioning: the temperature in my room was over 26°C during the whole night. - breakfast: not a large choice, but bread is good and coffee is ok. - wifi: so slow that it is almost unusable. I would not return there.

"Convenient Luxembourg"

Very good location, being in shor walking distance from the train station, supermarket and shopping, A very good value for longer stays (including excellent breakfast buffet), since it is easy to do day trips no nearby cities, including Metz (France) and Trier (Germany).

"Business trip to Lux."

Located at the bus and train station square. Good bus connection with the airport. During my stay the (free) wi-fi was very very slow. Personnel in the restaurant and at the front desk was very kind and helpful.

"Not up to scratch"

Stayed here for a business trip in Luxembourg. It was distinctly average; small room, drab décor, and a quite sad single bed. Very low water pressure meant an unsatisfying shower in the morning. Seems to get by due to its proximity to the central station. Like many of the hotels in the city it was very overpriced for the standard offered.

"One of the worst hotels I have ever been to"

There was no useful internet available in the hotel for the whole 3 days of my stay. The security personnel worked at the front desk with no knowledge of English. They were not available on the phone and did not wake me up as they obviously did not understand English and I almost missed my plane because of it.

"Why do we allow them to be a country..."

5 of us had a business trip to Luxembourg city, had the reservations done with one of ours deit cards. When we wanted to check in all of our cards were claimed to be refused. It took the receptionist maybe 2 minutes to tell us that all of our cards were refused. Of course turned out he didnt even try. We werent expecting a nuclear scientist, so thats ok, but that arrogant attitude... No further comments

"Good Location Shabby Rooms"

This hotel has a very good location but my room was very small, furniture used, old. This hotel needs a reconstruction. Staff was nice. Breakfast was a good buffet. If they make a reconstruction this will be a good hotel.

""Average at best""

The main reason for this hotel was the location as it is located opposite Luxembourg train station. This made commuting for me easy during the 4 days i was here. The rooms are clean and tidy although in my opinion very dated "Brown is not a great colour" and the staff were helpful for what little interaction i had with them. My only bug was the god awful WIFI internet with a ridiculous username/password combo that needed to be reset every 24 hours and the signal strength was extremely poor and i was only getting a speed of around 1mb. This made working in the hotel via vpn almost impossible and i was not able to get my mail. My advice is to invest in some better internet access points for the WIFI and increase the speed. I cannot comment on the food or service from the bar/restaurant as breakfast started to late 0645 and i eat elsewhere in the city for an evening meal. if you are just here on a day trip this hotel is great but i would not want to book a holiday here.

Thank you for your comments, just are acquiring a new internet system, the color of our rooms reflect a sober image related to most of our business customers. We will consider breakfast time. Your comments are valuable to us. Have a great day!!

"nothing special"

the hotel is very well situated, just opposite the railway station. But it is outdated. OK for a short stay, but do not plan your holiday here. Reception staff were very friendly, the bar staff wasn't.

Situated in a great location, upon arrival the gentleman on the desk was fantastic he couldn't have helped more as I was struggling to find some to park my large works van. The room was just what we needed my only criticism is that there was no complementary tea's or coffee. We then asked the gentleman on the desk where we could find something to eat he pointed us in the right direction. Great bar the lady behind it was fantastic. Would very much recommend!!!!

"very good location just oposite railway station"

The hotel is situated just opposite railway station. Very good location for people who travel to/from Luxembourg by train. This is not a typical hotel with all rooms of the same size. As it is in an all town house, probably each room is different. My room was OK, spacious enough, with comfortable bed and clean. The Internet was slightly week. It was surprise for me that there as no coffee/tea set with kettle in the room. This is something what is still more frequently offered by 4 stars hotels in Europe. The buffet breakfast was typical for Europe – a few cold and a few hot dishes. Nothing above average but it was OK for me. There is also a bar and a restaurant.

"Good value, but not 4* and don't count on the free internet access"

Pros: The staff I spoke to were friendly Breakfast was ok and coffee was good Great transport links (very close to the main station and main bus routes) The room had a small fridge/mini-bar The room felt clean Cons: The internet service was virtually unusable - it couldn't manage desktop web email, but did cope with email on a mobile device The decor is a little dated

"Small hotel, great staff"

This was our second hotel after changing our hotel stay from mercure next door. The room was small but it was clean.. the lunch and breakfast was good though a little overpriced. The location is directly across from the train station and within walking distance to sight seeing.

"Nice convenient place"

I really liked the room, it was well-sized and the bed comfortable. It is ideally located in front of the train station, in a busy district to go shopping. The breakfast is really good and with a lot of variety.

"Not very good"

Prices ok. Room size (stayed in single) fine. Room quality not very good but satisfactory. A lot of thinks in the room are badly installed ie card slot and shampoo dispensers. One thing that was terrible wa internet speed. Even reading emails is next to impossible.

"Location couldn't be better"

My husband and I only spent one night in Luxembourg and unfortunately it was raining when we arrived and didn't stop until the next morning. How grateful were we for the location of this lovely hotel just across the square outside the train station. We were met by a very courteous and helpful receptionist upon our arrival and our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, extra seating, a small table and a desk and a fridge. The shower was small but worked well. Because of the heavy rain we elected to have dinner at the hotel restaurant and this proved to be a good choice, an enjoyable meal at a reasonable price. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold foods and the scrambled eggs were very tasty.

"Internet what's that"

Stayed there mid-Jan. Firts of all, very bad to access with car. Once inside hotell staff seems there to do something else then taking care of customers. Internet was a catastrophy during the stay. However room was clean and bed nice. For my next visit in Luxembourg I will try somthing else. Hotel tried to get fustomers by giving discount vouchers but entering an empty restaurant is not what I'm after.

"Only for few nights"

Interesting because based just in front of the Train Station. Noisy environment, near the facilities as restaurant, public transport. Nice staff, very helpful. correct breakfast but not consistent with the price.

"The staff ruined it"

First time I have ever thrown hotel staff under the bus but the front desk attendants totally fail . I really liked the location of this hotel , the price was fair and the building itself was nice , adequate , and I was very happy with my room, especially the mattress . The night guy at the front desk was very rude and unwelcoming , must have been trained by the same person that trained the daytime girl as she was not much better . Their unpleasant attitudes made me change hotels the first morning .

"Average hotel"

Stayed here for one night on 10 Dec. Having read previous reviews I agree with comments about it being dated but we thought the beds were so comfy and two big pillows which is rare in Europe! The receptionist was formal but neither helpful or unhelpful. Breakfast was below standard as for food quality also the two waiting staff were so eager to clear tables that after we had finished our cereals we went to get toast and on our return two minutes later noticed our tabled totally cleared including our pots of coffee which we found annoying yet humorous. Luxembourg City was good for a day trip and wouldn't feel the need to return again.

"Location at the station - renovation would do good"

Very nice staff and good location. Nice room for breakfast. Rooms could do a renovation, and note that some rooms are for smokers. So, if you do not appreciate the smell of cigarettes, ask for a non-smoking room.

"Comfortable enough, at train station, easy bus from airport"

Positives Good breakfast Good wifi (downstairs only) Super easy from airport (Number 16 bus, stops outside) Heavily discounted Negatves Rooms feel tired 10-15 mins walk from town (Town would be more expensive of course) Area felt plenty safe enough, even at night. Receptionist didn't seem very happy ....

"Nice room and breakfast, unfriendly receptionist, hospital like beds"

We arrived together (party of 3) but independent business traveler. Receptionist was not very friendly and checked us in not one-by one but all together, with means doing the paperwork at the same time and finishing one of us at a time. Unnecessary delay during this procedure... Rooms are nice and clean but single beds are very sweaty (hospital beds), small and firm. No WiFi coverage in my room (606) at the end of the hallway in the corner. Free WiFi via outdated login procedure every time again and every 24 hours new login details. Complained about it, but could not be solved. For a business hotel a major flaw. No High Speed at all like advertised. Breakfast ok but not outstanding, coffee American style (weak and no taste). Not comming back ever.

"Comfortable place to stay if you're not too fussy"

I chose this hotel for the very convenient location. All sights are within walking distance, main railway station is across the road, as well as many buses (incl airport bus). This was my first stay in a Best Western and I wasn't disappointed. The single room was comfortable and clean, nothing fancy but serves the purpose perfectly. Breakfast had plenty of choices, the hotel also gave me vouchers for a free glass of wine and 10% off dinner, which turned out to be pretty good value. Staff were friendly, very helpful. It's nothing special but served the purpose just fine, I'd recommend this for a short stay.

"Average hotel with a central location"

The location, opposite the main train and bus station of Luxembourg City, makes this hotel a good base for those relying on public transportation. However, the station neighbourhood isn't the most pleasant environment and the associated noise makes sleeping with open window impossible. The standard rooms do not have air conditioning, making the temperature in the room -combined with the closed window- uncomfortably hot. The decor of the room is also elementary and tends toward a three-star hotel. Another drawback is the wifi connection, which works very slowly and is de facto useless. Positive points are the friendly staff, the extensive breakfast buffet and the general cleanliness of the room.

"Time to change hotel?"

I have been coming regularly to this hotel for many years (since 2005). My last review was on the 22 March 2015. It has had its up and downs but I am a patient person. However this last stay (for 2 nights) made me decide that I need an alternative hotel. The issues raised in my review in March are now compounded by an extremely slow Wi-Fi (max data rate of 9kb/s) - this makes impossible any access to office files and large emails. When I raised this issue with the reception, I just got a "well, we know, it is a bit slow". This is not acceptable (9kb/s).

"Clearly bellow expectations"

It is more like an very average 3 star than a 4 star. Internet is very slow almost impossible to work. Room are old and poorly decorated. Service is average. Next time I look for something else. Taking into account the price it is really bellow expectations.

"There are plenty of better choice hotels in the city!"

It's the second time I stay in this hotel. It was NOT selected by me, because if it were, I would definitely have chosen better! A room in which one has to be very careful where you walk, not to hit him/herself in the furniture. Bad smell (even if it was a non-smoking room, it seemed quite the opposite!). Poor lighting. A bathroom that people with claustrophobic issues should avoid at all costs... Good quality breakfast, but a bit scarce for a four star hotel and a longer stay. I have but the staff to give a good note.

"Located at centre of city, Nice hospitality"

I've visited this place during Nov 2014. The hotel is located at centre of the city. The bus station and railway station are just in about 200 metres from the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and provided required support. Breakfast is complimentary and has lot of choices. Also two Indian restaurants are available in the next street. So if you a Veggie and Indian, the hotel could be the best place for the trip. The room and bathroom were maintained very well. The bathroom also offers tub so you can enjoy. Also the hotels reward program is very good. You can get the reward points into the miles and more account.

"Just OK, nothing special"

The room was OK, clean, the same for bathroom, I can't complain about cleaning service. The bed was comfortable. At breakfast not too many things to chose. No complimentary coffee/tea on the room. They offer o voucher for a glass of wine at their bistro and 10% discount for a lunch or dinner. Even the room (201) was facing directly the Place de la Gare, it was quiet, very little noise from the planes over night, but not disturbing. Parking place very close, next to train station. Good connections with train or buses. Direct bus from the airport to the hotel (line bus no.16). I was staying for a week on a business trip to Luxembourg. The free WI-fi internet it's not reliable, almost not working, don't count on this. The printer on the computer from the lobby wasn't working. The stuff wasn't smiling too much, but they were quite efficient. Fast check-in and check-out. Shopping area quite close, on Avenue de la Gare. For a short business trip it's OK.

"Terrible Internet"

Service was ok. Room was ok. Breakfast so so. Environment poor (prostitutes and street fight just around the corner). But Wifi internet was soooo poor, that you literally have to wait minutes to just get one site up in the evening, -tried several sites, during the whole stay of 3 days, and it was the same all time. In the 21st century this is simply not acceptable, -therefore 1 star only. Should be very easy to upgrade for the Hotel, but obviously they dont care.

"Overall poor value and stay"

I stayed at this property for one night and was very disappointed. The room and bathroom were well worn. The bed was uncomfortable with bedding not suitable for someone over six feet in height. In particular, the area around the hotel is very unsavory at night. It is probably due to proximity to the train station, but after 22:00 on a Monday it felt unsafe. It should also be noted that this location charges 25 euro for a late check out (even for one hour). I think this the first hotel I have stayed with such a charge for a short stay. While it was cool outside during my visit, materials in the room suggest that only 25 rooms are air conditioned so confirm its availability if coming in a warmer month. Finally, as of the date of my stay, there is a large construction site across the alley from the hotel. It looks like it will remain active for a while. Work started earlier and even at night there was noise that kept waking me up. I am not certain what it was, but most likely a generator. Overall, the hotel is very poor value for money. It may be the market for the location, but be aware that you should expect very little other than proximity to the station if you stay here.

"Really Nice Place to Stay."

I am not sure why there are negative reviews....but we stayed in the newer part and we we pleased with our room. It was large for Europe, clean and neat. Nice bathroom and shower if you aren't over weight. Restaurant has a limited menu but the food Is pretty good, and reasonably priced. Only negative was our wifi only worked in the lobby. The prepaid breakfast is very nicely done, and it is in a nice room. Location is great, directly across from the railway station, and the Hop On Bus is across the road and is very worthwhile....especially if you enjoy architecture and getting an over view of the city.

"Terrible room, limited menu"

Booked an economy room so didn't expect too much. I got a room that would make Harry Potter feel cramped. If the windows are open it's noisy, if I close the windows there is no ventilation at all. Menu in the bistro restaurant is very limited, going to try and find other places tonight. May be other rooms are much better but wouldn't book here again in a hurry and I usually like Best Western hotels.

"Excellent business hotel "

Stayed here on a business trip. Excellent hotel. Spacious room. Off course next to the station. Only problem is the lack of parking. This you have to do al the station at a ridiculous price. Breakfast clean buffet, all you need.

"Do not stay here!"

Purchased this hotel on Priceline for a one night stay in early August. This hotel is advertised as a 4 star. 2 Star is a more appropriate rating based on the location and condition. Let me preface this review with this, we have traveled all over the world and I never apply "American" standards to my reviews. Our idea of traveling is to experience the local culture as much as possible. With that said...Upon arriving to the hotel, I was immediately alarmed by all the prostitution and drug dealing that was going on just around the corner. Since it was late and we were only staying for one night and we wouldn't be walking, we decided to check in. This is where it got really bad. My husband and daughter went to check us in and the hotel clerk immediately told my husband that my 9 year daughter could not stay in the room because it was "against the law" and we would need to book a separate room for her because that was the largest room he carried in the hotel. My husband came out to the car to get me and I went in to try to sort it out because my name was on the reservation. First of all, let me say that my husband and I have never been treated so poorly by someone working in a customer service field. After going round and round with the clerk on how ridiculous what he was saying was, I asked him to give our money back. He refused and said that I needed to call Priceline. We immediately left the hotel and checked in to a Novatel, which was wonderful and didn't have the same "laws" as the Best Western. I immediately contacted Priceline and told them about our horrible experience and they said the only way they could refund our money was to contact the hotel and have them release the reservation. No surprise when the Priceline rep attempted to call the hotel and no one answered the phone. I am now disputing this with my credit card company because Priceline is still refusing. Bottom line, unless you want to stay in a really bad part of Luxembourg and get treated poorly, this isn't the place for you!
