"Avoid At All Costs!!!"
VentouxV, 08 Février 2024

This hotel ended up charging me double for my stay. When I have tried to approach the hotel so that my credit card can be refunded for the extra 600 dollars that I was charged the hotel said it was not their responsibility! They refuse to stand up to try to help their customers. I was told that this overcharging recently happened to over 28 people! They are not really a Best Western. They are a franchise so the corporate office does not follow up. Nothing about the hotel was even that great. Food in restaurant was mediocre. The only good thing was the close walking distance to downtown. BE VERY CAREFUL if you stay here...they will not stand behind their name.

"Short stay"
Rannveig S, 13 Septembre 2023

I was in this hotel for 3 nights in September, it was absolutely wonderful! The room had a balcony, which was very nice since the weather was extremely good! Bus stops are close by or a nice stroll by the lake to the center of Lugano.

"Convenient position and perfect views"
MrsMap, 13 Septembre 2023

Been refurbished since our last visit and rooms are comfortable, air conditioning worked well and restaurant pleasant. Just felt it had lost that luxury touch in terms of customer service and calibre of staff, and some of the areas, eg outside the main entrance and around the pool, were looking very tired. No major issues for us though.

"Great hotel for a stay in Lugano"
catmouse, 24 Juin 2023

Pleasant hotel in a great situation. The hotel isn't huge so you don't get large tour groups. You have the main road in front of the hotel so it's quite noisy with the windows open but silent with the windows closed. There's a construction site next to the hotel but work stops around 17:00 so it wasn't a big deal. The room was a good size and well equipped with plenty of socket outlets. It was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. Unfortunately it has a bath which had sloping sides so it was a little uncomfortable to use the shower. There's a bus stop just outside the hotel as well as the embarkation jetty for Paradiso for lake excursions. The hotel will give you a Ticino card valid for public transport in the Ticino.

"Worst hotel experience ever! Management should take note and accept responsibility"
travegopi, 13 Septembre 2022

This could have been a good hotel, albeit quite pricy, but somehow justifiable through its location. But unfortunately I had the WORST ever experience I ever had in any hotel, anywhere. On the good part: Good location in Paradiso, on the promenade, 15 min walk on the promenade to the center of Lugano. Nice lobby, good breakfast and friendly staff (at the breakfast, and partly at the reception). But the good stuff ended here. This stay was part of a multi-city trip with three stays and I simply forgot at check-in time that the booking was actually for lake side-view room. We arrived and completed check-in by 2:30. The lady at the front-desk told us the room is not ready and we need to wait till 3pm. I asked her kindly if she can check with the housekeeping if room is ready, being only 30 min left till 3pm, but she just told "no, it's not". Then I asked her to give us a lake or at least lake-side view, but she told that the hotel is fully booked and our room is with pool view. We didn't wanted to wait till the room is ready, so we just left the luggage and got to the city. We returned at the hotel late, by 9:30 - 10pm and when we got to the room (I think 315) we had the unpleasant surprise to see the ugly view from the balcony (construction site or quarry). In the bath the stopper was stuck and the sink quickly filled with dirty water. I called the reception to fix, the lady from check-in came but she told there's no-one in the hotel at this hour to fix, and she left. So I had to put my hands into the sink filled with dirty water and take off the stopper. Then we wanted to turn on the TV which didn't worked. I called the reception again, and someone came, took the remote to change its batteries, but the TV didn't started either. So he told the TV might be broken and they try to fix it the next day. I found finally that the TV was stopped actually from the hardware power button, because the remote power button actually didn't worked. All this added to my frustration, and I finally realized that I actually booked a room with lake-side view, which they didn't gave me. So I went to the reception, showed them the actual reservation confirmation and asked again for the room I paid for, which they told they cannot because everything is full. I asked to change my room the next day as booked, or I'll make an official complain to the Tourist Authority. Few minutes later I got a phone call from the reception, telling me there is a manager available, and if he can come to see the room and talk. I said of course. My mistake! At the door arrived the lady who checked me in, accompanied by a person, who stepped int the room and asked me what is the problem. I started to tell him we are booked for a side-lake view but we didn't it, but he interrupted me and started to raise his voice, telling why I keep complaining! What I don't like about the room? Isn't the furniture new and the walls newly painted? I told I never complained about what he says, I just want to get the room in the category I booked. But he didn't listen, started yelling at me, telling I'm uncivilized person, I keep complaining, when he gave me a very beautiful room. TV is working, what if the sink stopper was stuck? Only an uncivilized person like me leaves the luggage at the hotel then gets to walk in the city, and returns late just to complain about everything. Then he left, and about 20 min later (by midnight) he called me back by phone from reception, harassing me by telling to leave his hotel, then or at late in the morning. Of course I booked immediately some other hotel, and we left in the morning. And even I got this treatment being BW Rewards member, in a Best Western hotel. Probably this was the welcome gift they offer to Best Western Gold members

"Tired hotel in desperate need of a makeover"
Monica_Holm_Andersen, 05 Août 2022

The area is so wonderful, but the hotel is so run down that it should not have 4 stars. The beds are awful and the aircon is definitely not modern as they describe them. The pictures here on TripAdvisor are very old and not quite representing the hotel we stayed at. However the staff and the location is wonderful and there is so much potential! The view will never get boring!

"We were supposed to stay here"
diann119, 26 Juillet 2022

This hotel overbooked through Booking.com and canceled our reservation less than a week from our reservation. We were left scrambling to find accommodation as the Booking.com alternative was not at the same level as our original reservation. Booking.com has not been very helpful and we found our own accommodation thankfully.

"Dirty pool, insects ( ants/mosquitoes) in the room, unfriendly personnel , very high prices"
1cristic, 27 Mai 2022

We spent 3 nights here and we have chosen this hotel because of swimming pool. Looks very nice in the website photo but very dirty in reality. Complained 3 times and receptionist very impolite told they are fool booked and no time for cleaning. We had insects ( mosquito and ants ) in the room and couldn't t sleep. Price very high (410 CHF / night) for such bed services . We complained on booking.com , best western customers service email and Switzerland department of Hygiene and public heal. Is not acceptable not cleaning pool in Ti e of epidemics ( monkey pox and Covid). Most likely this place will be close and you will not need to take into consideration our review!

"First and last time"
Safari54331952716, 09 Octobre 2021

A real shame, definitely not worth the money. Rather pay a few more francs to get a better place. Kid's bed was full of dark short black hair, which non of us have. The hairdryer was absolutely disgusting to touch, the shower ‘curtain' made of glass was half missing, and the shower nozzle broken, so taking a shower meant the whole bathroom floor is full of water. The toilet stated that it was disinfected but upon opening the lid, it looked like someone went to do a number 1 and forgot to flush. Internet seems to work ok. Breakfast was a mess, hotel hasn't really adjusted well to the covid solution. On the last day, we had to drag our luggage 5 floors down, 2 large suitcases, as the tiny, tiny lift broke down, and no one bothered to left us know. That was the first and last time.

"Review by Saeed from Dubai"
SaeedSul, 02 Octobre 2021

Great service and good accommodation worth the price , I got informative explanation of tours. Mrs Miriam from concierge was helpful in giving advices and showed a lot of patience. Sophia at the front desk was friendly. Hotel is centrally located and clean and food was good. I got value for the price for paid.

"High potential, mediocre experience"
Paradise42434824011, 17 Septembre 2021

The hotel building was really nice and so was the location. The problem being: 1. Simply not good enough to motivate the relatively high price (€200 for one night in a all in all good room), 2. The frontdesk staff (aside from the mid-day lady) had a very nonchalant attitude towards me and other guests. Two examples below: i) The front desk night staff seemed to be hard at work killing hours. He was watching movies on his computer and treated me as a pain in a mere disturbance whenever I needed his assistance. i) At 11:02 (a whole two minutes after checkout time was due!) the front desk guy called the room with 10-15 signals to order me immediately out of the premise because I was late. I was down at the front desk by 11:03 and he was noticeably annoyed by my tardiness. 3 minutes late when paying the overprice of €200, come on guys.

"A weekend in Lugano"
LiGhand, 26 Juillet 2021

When we visit Lugano we usually stay around the center. This time we decided to stay at Paradiso area and chose Best Western hotel. It is a nice quiet area, at the same time close to the center, about 10-15 minutes walk, or a couple of bus stops. The hotel has a good location with a beautiful view of the lake. Our room had a side lake view, so we enjoyed our early morning coffee on the balcony. The room was clean and had all what one needs, mini bar, kettle with tea snd coffee… The staff are kind and helpful. Breakfast room has a terrace/garden where one can enjoy a quiet morning. It had a good variety. We also had dinner once at this garden which was good. We will probably be staying at Paradiso when in Lugano and will probably choose this hotel again.

"Stay in Hotel"
kennedygomes, 24 Juin 2021

Excellent Hotel and Staff. Very helpful and courteous staff. Would recommend friends if visit to Lugano than stay in this Hotel. We were in hurry to leave the hotel, but staff made sure that we were provided with good breakfast.

"Wonderful experience!"
stalmico, 20 Juin 2021

Your front desk staff is definitely one previous gem! Staying for our anniversary, we could not have expected better service and attentions for our romantic staycation in Lugano. The bedroom view on the lake is breathtaking and the experience of sharing a cold glass of wine on your private balcony is unrivaled. Many thanks for everything, we will definitely come back!

"A great option for Lugano!"
Freedom61270353230, 31 Mai 2021

I returned to this hotel for the second time, and it is even better! We are a couple that likes to find comfy hotels that are on the luxurious side, but not too pricey. Between our previous visit and this last one, which was in May 2021, they renewed all beds and got the new mattresses (which was my only negative point at the previous visit). Beds are big enough even for people with height over 1,90m. Rooms are nicely equipped, and the bathrooms with toiletries are clean and warm enough (!). The safety measures during covid are perfect. All the staff is super helpful, nice and they create a great atmosphere! The food is freshly prepared and really good. It's super handy to dine in, when you've just came from the travel and you have no wish to stroll around the city. The hotel is situated just 10 mins away from the city center of a nice walk along the promenade, which offers a great romantic walks at the evening after a nice dinner in one of the many good Lugano restaurants. The hotel has a covered garage that you can book (for extra payment) and it's a welcome service when traveling by car. Great comfort for a nice price!

"Great location and warm reception"
nathaliekeng2021, 16 Mai 2021

Nice room with balcony with a view over the lake. Good food and friendly staff. Hotel is just in front of the lake near Lugano Paradiso Station. Good starting point to visit Lugano and many places around

"Big room with fantastic view "
711kirillp, 16 Mai 2021

I had a room on the 3rd floor with full frontal view of the lake, which was beautiful. The room itself was much bigger than expected with a working desk and another folding table on the balcony so I could work both inside and outside. Two twin beds were nice with hard mattress, just as I asked. Second night I discovered the button which closes all shutters on the windows making the room dark at night, otherwise it was too bright. The decor not the most sophisticated that I have seen but that didn't bother me. Restaurant menu also I have seen better but again with so many other options in Lugano I only ate there once. Specifically I would like to comment that the receptionists are very responsive in case of any issues - Anna was particularly welcoming on arrival - took me to the room personally which was a nice touch. Also told me where to lock my bike so it was under their surveillance camera.

"Fabulous views, rooms are tired"
Jraff101, 16 Mai 2021

Stayed for the weekend and had a room with a lake view which was beautiful - and that's really what you're paying for here. The room itself was tired and in need of updating, although very clean. The bed was really not very comfortable and every time my husband turned over I seemed to shoot in the air! The pillows were fine though. Noisy road but sound proofing is excellent if you have the doors closed at night. Coffee tray in the room was not filled up despite repeated requests and neither was the shower gel. The bar and restaurant were fine although we didn't eat dinner there we did have breakfast. Slightly chaotic with all the Covid restrictions. They could make the serving area larger to allow people to better see what's on offer (a pretty decent continental). Staff very pleasant and friendly and there's a pool which was being readied for the summer which looked good.

"Certainly not four stars"
THS2010, 21 Octobre 2020

This hotel had some good qualities: the staff were pleasant, there was adjacent parking and it has a good location (although our room looked out on the dirty building next door). Unfortunately the rooms and decor are stuck in the 70's, which felt like when the linens and towels were last refreshed. The room had a safe, but it literally had no lock so was useless. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. Overall, and given Lugano prices, it is not four star quality and didn't feel like value for money.

"1970's"
lida60, 31 Octobre 2019

Coming back to this hotel after over 30 years I was surprised to realize that not much had changed. The interior decoration had remained as it was in the end of the 70's. The common areas were not cosy and as the weather was rainy did not offer us the option to stay in and relax in a friendly atmosphere. The room was spacious but the light available was as if provided by candles. When asked for an iron I was given an appliance which was aged very close to being a coal operated iron, obviously not functioning. The alternative offered was to go and iron my dress in the laundry room! Breakfast was ok. Some of the staff were very kind but some others totally indifferent and even forgot to provide a wake up call that a member of our group had asked for. Overall it was not good value for money.

"Great hotel with beautiful view!"
Jennifer11114, 04 Août 2019

I traveled here with my mom. This hotel is right on the water with great views. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet is essentially included in the rate and had eggs, fruit etc. The actually city center is a little bit of a walk but it along the beautiful shore line. If you have the Swiss pass you can just grab the bus directly in front of the hotel if you don't want to walk. The bus stop is Paradiso, Debarcadero.

"Amazing hotel, with fabulous views."
Angela A, 10 Juillet 2019

Stayed at this hotel last week 3rd July 2019, they gave me a fabulous room on the fourth floor. I requested a quiet room, and this was definitely quiet, I didn't hear a thing. The hotel is central to everything, good location, the breakfast was very good and lots of choice. They have a restaurant and a bar, didn't use these but looked good. The hotel staff are friendly and welcoming. Trust me this hotel is very good into comparison to others I saw.

"Beautiful view of Lake Lugano"
kdevalle, 30 Juin 2019

Very lovely hotel. At first we were given a room in the back of the hotel for one night although we had requested a lake view, but were changed the next day to a room at the front overlooking the lake.

"Average"
thetraveladdict17, 14 Juin 2019

I spent a night here for a business trip in Lugano. The location is good. Whilst the hall and reception area are nice enough, I must say the room was quite disappointing- it was very small with outdated furniture and the mattress was not very comfortable. The staff was very polite, the breakfast was standard.

"Elegant... 30 years ago."
KingAlO, 12 Juin 2019

A pricey, average and dated hotel. The fixtures and wall coverings are well out of date, and have the feel of being fancy, if you consider your grandmother's tastes fancy. The only elevator is old, small (maybe holding 3 people), and moves slowly. The breakfast was average, nothing special. Parking is impossible -they do have an underground garage, access to it is limited, and you have to be let in and out by a staff member. Balcony's are convenient for smoking, the dated bed was passable.

"Amazing hospitality"
ahr12017, 01 Novembre 2018

Located right opposite lake Lugano, this hotel has some breathtaking views. We were upgraded to the top floor on checking in and the lovely lady answered all of our questions on how to get the most of our holiday, printing maps and checking opening times/ translations. Our room was nice and clean, a good size with a balcony. There was a good variety for breakfast- especially some of the cakes which I had not tried before. Overall, it's a nice hotel with some traditional/quirky features, in a great location with helpful staff. Thanks for making our stay enjoyable.

"A LITTLE SLICE OF ITALY IN SWITZERLAND"
vbrudee, 04 Octobre 2018

Some of the first things you notice when you arrive in Lugano are the greetings are Italian, the food and wine are Italian and the pace is definitely Italian … but more on that later. The Bellevue de Lac is on the outskirts of town which has its pluses and minuses. We arrived by train from Zurich and took a taxi to the hotel. Despite what anyone tells you, it IS NOT a walkable distance, especially with luggage. You could take the funicular down from the train station and try to figure out what bus to take, but after eleven hours in the air, an hour trying to figure out where to go in the Zurich airport and then two and a half hours on a train, a $20 taxi ride seemed like a bargain. We were greeted by Romina at the front desk and she made sure we had a great room, knew our way around the hotel and shared some ideas for activities for the six days we were in Lugano. If you are going to be in this area of Switzerland anytime from mid-May on through the Summer, make sure you are staying at a hotel with air-conditioning. After a long day exploring, the last thing you want is to return to a hot room, limited air movement and bugs when you open the doors/windows to try and cool off. Another MUST for us was an actual functioning bathroom. Both of us have traveled to Europe before and are not fans of the postage-size bathrooms with straight-jacket glass cylinders advertised as showers. The Belleview de Lac was a winner on both counts … large air-conditioned room with a large bathroom, including a bidet. The breakfast (was included in our reservation) was excellent and included the usual meats, cheeses, fruits, breads, pastries, yogurt, muesli and assorted cereals and scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. There were several juices to choose from along with tea, coffee and espresso. Speaking of which, our room had an espresso machine which the hotel kept stocked, and we enjoyed while trying to get our body clocks onto a Swiss schedule. We had Room 206 with a large balcony looking out over Lake Lugano and the main drive into town from Paradiso. The two French doors/tilt-windows provided easy access to the balcony and excellent sound deadening when closed. Though some might say there is more noise on the front of the hotel (not our experience), watching the sun come up over the Alps and Lake Lugano each morning was breathtaking … we also had a great view of the full moon while we were there. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and watching the morning rush with a cup of espresso and the evening return with a chilled glass of the local Ticino Bianco Merlot. If you are a car nut, the Ferraris, Alfas, Lamborghinis, and many mint classics parading by on their way to/from work was an extra treat. If no one has mentioned this to this point, Switzerland is EXPENSIVE. The food was excellent at any restaurant we visited and tended to toward Italian pastas, lasagnas, risottos and pizzas. The wines seemed reasonably priced until you discover your $10 glass of Bianco Merlot is about the size of two-shots American. Restaurants pour eight glasses of wine from a standard 750ml bottle. The local buses are a bargain (free with hotel coupon), but many of the tours can be costly. One must-do however, is to take the tour around Lake Lugano. The boat launch is right across the street from the hotel and the lake and accompanying scenery are breathtaking. Though the hotel does not have a workout facility, there is a place within easy walking distance … better yet, there is exercise equipment set up in the park across the street about a block away toward Paridiso which looks out over Lake Lugano and provides inspiration for your perspiration. For those who forgot something and are not familiar with Switzerland, there was both small (basics + wine/beer) and large (home furnishings, luggage, clothing, cosmetics, groceries, wine/beer) Coop stores within walking distance. One minor frustration, Wi-Fi was spotty. I mentioned “pace” in my opening comment and people need to understand service happens at a very leisurely pace … if you need immediate attention when you enter a restaurant, you will be extremely frustrated. We had an excellent dinner one night at the hotel but with so many great restaurants around town, we wanted to experience a wide variety … were not disappointed. The hotel staff were all excellent, and a special thanks to Romina for getting us settled-in and providing us support throughout our visit. The only downside for those not into walking, it is about a 10-15 minute walk into town, but we found it helped to burn off all the great lasagna, risotto and local wine. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Bellevue de Lac!

"Couldn't be more helpful"
Nancy N, 02 Octobre 2018

We stayed in Lugano for two nights at the Bellevue. The front desk staff is extremely nice and helpful, especially Giada. The room was very small but very clean. The view is amazing. The location is very good, just a short walk to the City Center.

"Wonderful stay - amazing staff"
Jeanette G, 11 Août 2018

Our family of five had two rooms facing the lake. Both rooms were beautiful, comfortable and spotless, and the view is to absolutely die for. But what is equally special is the staff. Reception could not have been more accommodating, friendly, and helpful. They treated us like family. And the restaurant staff was also so kind...everyone is working so hard at this hotel and it really shows. Thank you for a memorable stay in Lugano! We can't wait to come back!

"Super reception staff"
ALWALEED A, 22 Juillet 2018

A cute hotel , boutique style facing the Lake and rooms are very comfortable , a very simple breakfast buffet and limited room service but the reception staff are very friendly and helpful . Throughout our stay they went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.

"Clean, comfortable and excellent staff"
Marlys I, 07 Juillet 2018

Stayed there 2 nights. Excellent location : walking distance to city centre, easy access to bus and boat. Plenty of space in the suite and bathroom. Only had breakfast there and the buffet excellent : variety of bread, cereals, juice, hot drinks. Also the breakfast buffet table is well displayed so that you can easily walk around and help yourself. The staff is professionel : make you feel comfortable, gives information on hotel as well as how to get around/ what to do, smile and attend to attend the their best to all requests you may have regarding your accomodation. The extra mile came from a trainee working at reception who ran through the town and looked for us at train station to hand us the lens we forgot in the room. Many thanks to Best Western Bellevue au Lac for contributing so much to the success of our stay in Lugano. Your guests from Mauritius

"Comfortable, well kept in a good situation "
Alistair P, 14 Juin 2018

Spent two nights in a second floor room with a ‘panoramic view'. Very comfortable room with French doors and a small balcony to the spectacular views of the lake. There was too much road noise to really enjoy the balcony though. The hotel was clean and well kept with helpful and professional staff. I would stay there again.

"Beautiful hotel with very nice service "
Ksusha1981, 18 Mai 2018

We spend very good time in family in this beautiful hotel. Service was perfect , our suite was more then good! Feeling like at home . Nice breakfast with only fine swiss products. Recommend with pleasure !

"Wonderful Hotel, Wonderful And Caring Staff All In A Wonderful City... Just Wondeful"
Anders T, 10 Mai 2018

Best Western Hotel Bellevue Au Lac is located right on the waterfront across the street from the lake. One of the best locations in the Lugano and Lugano Paradiso area. The hotel is spotless, the staff is super friendly, helpful and truly care about your stay. The incredible buffet breakfast is excellent with just about everything you can think of. We stayed here for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer, just loved it. We had dinner one night at the hotel and the food was excellent. Just as good as any of the surrounding restaurants. The parking I'm not sure of but there is some up front. We traveled by train. WifFi was good. While you are there take a boat tour on the lake and make sure to get a FREE Ticino pass from the front desk. You will get all kinds of discounts on buses and trains... some free.

"A Room with a View!!!"
mattandcolleen2015, 24 Septembre 2017

We stayed at Hotel Bellevue for 7 nights in August. It was a combination of business/vacation for my husband and I. The hotel is located directly across the street from Lake Lugano and we had a beautiful view of the Lake. Very romantic at night with the lights. Our room was extremely clean and well laid out. The bathroom was a dream! They spacious and an excellent stand for storage in additional to a ledge for toiletries. Breakfast came with our room. They were plenty of options but limited for vegetarians. There is a small bar with a side outdoor patio. The bartender was super polite. We owe a very special mention to Claudio at the reception desk. He was AMAZING!!!! He was extremely helpful in setting up a vineyard visitor for us and was quick to resolve any questions/issues for us. He also made our checkout seamless and was so patient as we went through our room invoice details. He was pleasant, professional and a joy to work with!

"Comfortable stay"
btiar, 06 Septembre 2017

Located just step a walk into Lugano's fontain, we could go there just sit in the park to enjoy the view of lake They just only have one small lift, be patient to go up and down to the room Ask for the room facing the lake to get the lake scenery. The room and the bathroom are average and not spacious. We have to checked out in the morning so the breakfast had not served complete.

"PERFECT IN EVERY WAY !!!!!"
NewYorkRuta, 28 Août 2017

We enjoyed our stay here! Excellent location, the room was well appointed with a great bathroom. The best part is the staff, a special thank you to the wonderful Claudio and Dri behind the desk. They were so professional, so helpful and pleasant ... a great asset to the hotel.

"5 star hospitality!!!!"
Kunal G, 19 Août 2017

We stayed at the Best Western towards the end of our 2 week Swiss holiday. The stay was probably one of the highlights of our trip. After visiting the multiple peaks (rigi, pilatus, titlis ....) and enjoying the cold weather, lugano was completely different - Mediterranean weather, beautiful lugano lake and Best Western. While the property itself is beautiful (facing the lake), what makes it all the more appealing is the team. Firstly, Thomas at the front desk who had an answer or suggestion to your every problem / query (with a smiling face) and for us made the stay a memorable one (for us he was the heart of the Hotel). Special mention for Joanna, Claudio and Dri who took over the mantle perfectly in Thomas' absence. Stipho & lui at the restaurant who took extra care wrt our meals as we are vegetarians. Unlike other hotels that we stayed in, Best Western offers all the luxuries expected and yet the team makes it a warm and cosy place, esp with their personal touch. The GM too dropped in to check if everything was in order - something we didn't come across other hotels If you have the time, suggest you visit lugano and stay at BW Bellevue - try and stay at the junior suite, you pay slightly more but the views are to die for & space is huge!!!. We definitely will return to Lugano and the BW Bellevue. Keep it up team!!!!

"Good location and comfortable stay"
MaySing, 17 Août 2017

Visited Lugano for a business conference in June. The hotel room is clean and simple. There is a small balcony and i had a gd view of the beautiful lake. Breakfast was included in my stay. The spread is rather simple with pretty good coffee. The location of the hotel is good too. Walking distant to the Palazzo Dei Congressi where the conference was held. But its a 20 mins nice walk along the lake. There is a few restaurants near the hotel too. And the Monte San Salvatore is abt 15 mins walking distance from the hotel. Services provided by the staff in the hotel was adequate and they are helpful and friendly too. I would say that i had a comfortable stay in the hotel.

"Slightly away from the city centre"

We stayed at this hotel from 28 to 30 June 2017. We found the location slightly away from the city centre..though the view from the hotel of the lake lugano was spectacular.. There is a cruise/boat station less than 100 mtrs from the hotel called Paradiso.. we took boat rides to nearby villages such as gandria and morcote by the cruise which was fully covered by the Swiss Travel Pass... The hotel had limited breakfast options for vegetarians. Also the staff at front desk was not well verse with local sight seeing options, timings, etc. Overall, we found the hotel slightly expensive given its service level..

Comparing to others in the chain of Best Westerns hotels - more than decent. Hotel was restored last time. Fantastic view from the rooms with a panorama of Como lake. Friendly staff. Restaurant satisfactory with a typical breakfast. The only complaints are a lift (one for whole building) and parking place which is in other building, so be sure to unpack the luggage before parking your car!

"Great place, perfect location! "
Ivana D, 17 Avril 2017

I spent in this hotel 5 days and it was great experience in beautiful hotel right on the lake. Rooms are very clean with beautiful view. Specially people working in the restaurant are very kind and always at your disposal. Luli is one the best staff member always willing to help you at any your request, weather you are looking for some place to visit or you want any recommendation. Although whole place is excellent, I would specially recommend this hotel for stay because of its perfect location and excellent staff.

"Beautiful guest experience"
Vladimir M, 15 Avril 2017

Fantastic location, great view, but also proffesional and nice staff (Luli and Mato especially) made this trip a memorable experience. Hotel is old but well managed, clean, with limited facilities- which probably you dont even need whem visiting Lugano. My recommendation if you are coming as tourist! Food was also great, and chefs did an extra mile in presenting their skills- bravo!

"Pleasant, but still room for improvement"
QiD, 12 Octobre 2016

Overall the interior could be a bit freshened up. The people are very nice. Parking is very special. They need to bring you to the next door garage. Where you only can park with their assistance. I couldn't find it myself, nor you can enter without the support of the receptionist. So I called to ask for assistance, but nobody answered on my first try. Second time it worked, although there was quite a delay until help arrived. The room was okay, but the little lake view would have made my day. It was my own fault to arrive at night time.

"Nice location but hotel just average"
Ray C, 26 Septembre 2016

I spent one night at the hotel and have to say that the location is amazing. Really worth a visit. The hotel is equipped with old fashioned furnitures however still clean and pleasant. The rooms are comfortable, in particular the bed. Very good mattress, hence very good night sleep. The prices are a bit too high for my taste. I wanted to have dinner at the restaurant but prices for approximate 80-100€ per person are a bit too much for that hotel. Breakfast was kept to a minimum. Staff was friendly however did I have the intention that they were unable to cope with various situations. Parking is expensive 25€ a day. Overall nice hotel but for that price you will get a more luxurious environment somewhere else.

"Beautiful setting "
travelindan, 18 Septembre 2016

The area is beautiful. The pictures are the day and night view from my room. The room was nice but the safe was not working. Apparently there had been a robbery a week or so earlier and we were told at check in to carry our valuables with us when we left the room. We felt safe at all times. We had a pleasant 2 night stay and the location was great. The breakfast was very sufficient for anyone.

"A great hotel"
Lukas W, 10 Août 2016

A must stay while in Lugano. We had the lake room...with the best views of Lake Lugano. Zamel, the Concierge, was very helpful and welcoming. We also had a great breakfast before we went on our way throughout the day. All in all, we had a pleasant stay and we look forward to coming back when in Lugano.

"Comfortable overnight stay"
Anthony H, 06 Août 2016

We found the junior suite comfortable, clean and spacious and we slept well. Air-conditioning worked well. About 6 or 8 UK TV channels rather than just news. View of the lake was very restricted but did not matter to us. Breakfast was not the best I have had in Switzerland but was acceptable.

"Low security"
Alia A, 04 Août 2016

The reception and services were okay, but very slow. The rooms were fine. The safe boxes need to be upgraded immediately and cameras should be put up. On the same day, 3 families, including us, were robbed while we were out. Please, whenever you leave any hotel to tour the city or eat, take your passports with you. It just adds extra security.

"Poor Service, Great Property"
Dem6806, 23 Juillet 2016

This was a beautiful property, with awesome pool, fantastic breakfast; but horrible front desk service. The hotel had a lot of Middle Eastern guests who they served well, but had no time for us. We stayed 5 nights, are Diamond Level Best Western members and have never been treated so disdainfully! When we arrived early, the clerk dismissed us immediately saying check in was later. Another man on the phone then took over and gave us a room. Our reservation was for a room with side view or full view. We overlooked the back garden/pool. We didn't complain, we accepted the room. On our last night, we were watching TV, and the bed broke! We called to front desk, they came, and said we would be moved. 10 minutes later, we had to go down to the lobby , to get a new key. No one asked if we were okay or offered to help us with our luggage ! We moved ourselves 3 floors down. Absolutely unprofessional ! Checkout also took 20 minutes as they hadn't pre-processed our stay properly. We will never stay here again!

"Wonderful hotel, great view!"
xiongxiong43, 17 Juillet 2016

My association had a meeting here and every one was staying at the hotel. The hotel isn't that far from the Paradiso train station. I followed the instructions and walked from the train station to the hotel. It was all downhill. The hotel faces Lake Lugano and my room has one window facing the lake. The staff was absolutely wonderful helping me to book bus from Lugano main train station to Milan Malpensa airport, finding the best and cheapest way to go to the main train station to catch that bus, etc. The hotel floor including that of the room is all marble which feels cool and refreshing in summer. The bed mattress felt like futon which was fine by me. I slept very well. The water pressure of the shower was fantastic! The only drawback of the bathroom was that the bathtub has only a partial kind of "shower door." Water easily splashes outside the tub and make sthe floor wet. The breakfast was not as rich as I imagined. They do serve hot food, like scramble eggs and bacon. It's still good. There is no gym inside the hotel, but you can get a 10% discount at a nearby (1/2 block away) gym. The elevator is quite small. Wifi is good, but you need to login every time you want to use it. The only conference room is on the top floor, 5th floor. The windows face the lake and the view is absolutely gorgeous! We didn't even feel that tired with 10 hour meeting each day. The town center is about 5 minute walk from the hotel. There is also a nice park not far from the hotel. It was a very pleasant stay.

"A front desk staff that makes you feel like you are very special "
Norlyn P, 08 Juillet 2016

Jamel and Diana greeted us upon arrival at this lovely hotel. The location was excellent and we stopped in to see if they had a room . The greeting was so warm we felt like we had a arrived at the perfect place. We stayed in room 210 , large and nice view from balcony . Jamel and Diana spoke to us warmly each time they saw us.. Even in town center and when they were off duty, these are employees that really care. It is an easy walk to shopping and the Accross from the lake. The tourist card they gave us saved more then 50 % on the lake boat tickets. Lugano , we went for a day and stayed 4 at this hotel .

"Great Hotel in Lugano"
Glennpatrizio, 06 Juillet 2016

This hotel had a great air conditioner. Very comfortable room right in front of the lake. Across the street was the boat dock to cruise the lake sites. A short walk and you are in downtown Lugano close to the train station and restaurants. Breakfast was good and staff were very helpful with information.

"An enjoyable stay"
flowerofscotland10, 02 Juillet 2016

When we visited this hotel for a four nights stay recently, we found that there were a surprisingly small number of guests, apparently as a result of the continuing strength of the Swiss franc against both Sterling and the Euro, which tends to make Swiss hotel prices quite expensive and sometimes uncompetitive with some of those in the rest of Europe. There was evidence of a similar picture in an excellent hotel where we stayed a few days earlier in the Bernese Oberland. This is a very serious situation for a large number of Swiss hoteliers – who find themselves confronted with fewer enquiries as well as rapidly declining margins – and of course the Swiss tourist industry in general. We very much enjoyed our break at the Bellevue au Lac. Reception staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, there was an amicable host in Charles Helbling, and the room we had (facing the lake and with a balcony) was very comfortable, smartly furnished, fairly spacious, and well equipped. The hotel has a long history, and it is one of the most traditional hotels in Lugano. Its lake-side location in Lugano Paradiso is in many ways ideal, as it is a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre (about a 15 minutes walk on the promenade, or hop on a bus). The road outside the hotel tends to be very busy for most of the day, but the room was very effectively soundproofed, and there was also good air-conditioning …. just as well as the outside temperature was in excess of 30°C at times. We ate in the hotel's restaurant on one night and that was good, and in the mornings there was a rich breakfast buffet. We certainly intend to return one day. Meantime let us hope for happier times for Swiss hoteliers!

"Bad Customer Svc and Over Specified Amenities"
noldpb, 28 Juin 2016

This Bestwestern does not meet the Advertised Expectations. My hotel visit was five (5) nights. 1. The pool was empty upon arrival and the condescending young hotel manager said I could use the "public lake, located 100 meters away". Manager did not understand the difference in a premium priced hotel pool and public lake. 2. The elevator broke for the evening, leaving me with two (2) heavy bags and 5 flights of stairs, to climb. The elevator problem seemed familiar, since it was repaired within 5 hours of my report. This was a concerning workout, since I am a young father and heart attack survivor, 4 months prior. 3. When the buses dropped off guests, it was obvious they were not staffed for the increased amount of guests. The restaurant was not refilling the buffet. 4. One evening, the hotel bedding smelled like body odor, upon arrival from work. I was thoroughly disgusted. Fortunately, my room included two (2) beds and I simply swapped the bedding. 5. The Lake View and Partial Lake View is an overstatement. THERE IS NO LAKE VIEW FROM THE ROOM and you need to look from balcony for a limited view ... some balconies are worse than others. The Director of the hotel was made aware of the numerous shortcomings and would not be interrupted from his solo dinner, at his patio/bar. Hotel manager provided 70,000 Bestwestern Pts for a future stay (if I was a point member?). Hotel showed no remorse or professional pride.

"Pleasant Stay with Amazing Views"
Jessica B, 27 Juin 2016

The hotel was easy to locate with a downhill walk (with our luggage in tow!) from the Paradiso station. We were warmly greeted and showed to our room. We stayed in a room with a balcony front and center on the lake. The room was clean and comfortable with a spacious well-appointed bathroom. The decor was slightly dated but overall it was a very lovely, comfortable room. The staff were very attentive and ready to respond to any request we had. They were happy to call taxis for us as well. I would say location-wise it's not exactly in the center of things so if you want to be right in the heart of it with minimal walks then stay a bit closer to the old town center. But we didn't mind walking around. We did take a taxi to our dinner up near Castagnola and that would have been to far of a walk for what we wanted. And taxi for the trip up to the main Lugano train station. If we ever make it back to Lugano will definitely consider the Best Western again!

"Beautiful property with beautiful views of the lake"
RandiinChicago, 07 Juin 2016

The hotel is a beautiful property right on the lakeshore. I was told the building is a 140 years old but they do a marvelous job maintaining the remodeling that was done more recently. I was in room 109, which is on the corner with a small patio area and a spectacular view of the lake and the Alps. The bath is quite large. The room comes with a water pot for coffee/tea. The bed seemed lumpy to me but it may be European-standard. Certainly the lumpy pillows and fluffy duvet are. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Nearby is a Migros supermarket but the Coop market downtown is much better ( and has inexpensive souvenirs plus loads of chocolate). It's about a ten minute walk to the Coop in the main shopping area. The Fondazione Gabriele e Anna Braglia building is just a few buildings down the lakefront street. If they have an exhibit when are there it will be worth stopping. (The one I saw was on Expressionist art. It was free to visit.)

"Great hotel! Friendly Staff"
Matt223, 25 Avril 2016

I was in Lugano for a conference and stayed at the Bellevue Hotel. The staff went out of their way to assist me with everything from loaning me a electric adaptor, to arranging a day trip to Lake Como. The daily breakfast was excellent, my room had a balcony overlooking the lake, where I had coffee and read the paper every morning. I highly recommend!!

"Perfect Holiday Location Five Star Experience"

JElliottHarris, 16 Janvier 2016

Great Hotel. Great Location. Beautiful Views. The room was very comfortable. It had everything you needed. The breakfast was great. Lots of choices. The staff was very friendly. I highly recommend. Walking distance to pretty much everything, plus the lake is directly across the streets with wonderful views of the pre Alps.

"Christmas in Lugano"
JudyHicks21, 27 Décembre 2015

We spent a few days here over Christmas with family flying in from UK , Ireland and Singapore. We were practically the only ones for Christmas Eve and day, and had the run of the hotel. It was fabulous - the staff were so friendly and seemed to be very happy to see us, they looked after us very well indeed. The children who were a bit over excited, were welcomed and looked after too. They out on a special meal for us on Christmas Eve which was delicious - 5 courses. Rooms comfortable, overlooking beautiful view. Location fantastic. Basically we had all the family fun of Christmas and none of the stress. Loved it!

"Very comfortable and gracious!"
JeffK8850, 16 Décembre 2015

The location and the room was very nice, modern furniture and bathroom. I had a great view of the lake which on this particular morning, was obscured by fog. In the evening the lights around the lake were great to see - I hadn't noticed the distant homes during the daylight.

"Friendly Hotel in Lugano"
Karlheinz H, 28 Novembre 2015

Very nice location and convenient to get into the city, easy parking (with a fee), extremely friendly staff.. you feel at home Quiet rooms with lakeview I would definitively return to this hotel on my next stay in LUgano

"Lovely hotel with great lake view"
DeidreTravis, 25 Septembre 2015

Clean and well appointed rooms. Beds quite comfortable. Good shower with great water pressure. A little generic if you are looking for an "experience" but if you are looking for a nice place to stay while you explore Lugano - this is a great choice. Breakfast buffet offered nice selections and offerings were of good quality. Lots of dining options nearby, including within the hotel itself.

"Touring Europe By Car"
STURDLEY, 22 Septembre 2015

Once again, as we do, we dialed in Hotels on our GPS. Up popped this Best Western right on the boulevard facing beautiful Largo Lugano, with a parking place, hotel reserved, by the front door. What a find in a tourist mecca like Lugano, CH. We requested a room facing the water high enough for a good view. Shazam! we are on the third floor with a large room, with double balcony where we can watch the world go by on the boulevard below and have a panoramic view of the beautiful lake with the flora all round. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Nice bath. We are just across the street from a major docking place for tour boats. And for excursion trips by the train mobile with coaches. Both very good means by which to explore the surroundings. We took a Lake excursion boat. Also the mobile train coach. Also went up the cable car to Mt. Brie. Had dinner in the Hotel restaurant the first night of a three day stay. Ordered pasta. They do not know pasta so stay away from that. We went for pizza one night right close by. ( I'm not moving my car) . Pizza was good.

"A lovely hotel with character in a beautiful location"
stewartmar, 21 Septembre 2015

A lovely hotel with character in a beautiful location. The staff was extremely helpful - everyone I met was very pleasant and went out of their way to assist. The free breakfast was a splendid feast - plenty of choice - so I ate too much :-). It's a great location. The view across the lake is truly beautiful and the promenade is a lovely place to stroll. Lots of great eating places within a few minutes of the hotel, so you can choose a different venue for dinner each evening.

"marvellous experience"
Paul D, 18 Septembre 2015

We travelled from Como to Lugano for a trial experience and did not regret the visit. Lake tour was especially enjoyable. My wife enjoyed the shops, not high on my priority but the cafés and relaxing atmosphere was just what we needed. Thank you to all in Lugano for helping us to decide we will do this again.
