Even that this hotel is located in Long Beach, it was a really nice place and safe. Also, the staff were really good and friendly and breakfast was awesome! I went with my family, husband and baby and had to use the free parking as I was driving from Las Vegas. Stayed for just one night and and I really enjoyed it!

If you are doing anything at the Long Beach Convention Center this hotel is a little over a mile away but it is away from the hustle and bustle downtown... and parking is included so that makes s a difference to the budget conscious.

We expected to find an outdated property in an outdated part of town, we were wonderfully surprised. The staff was friendly and well-trained, they take their customer service seriously as well as the safety of our vehicle. The breakfast was awesome a very nice surprise everything from eggs, waffle to fruit and cereals. Parking was included which again is nice. Their beds were new and comfortable, the owners have invested money in updating the bathrooms and the bedding. And instead of providing those tiny almost worthless soap bars I thoroughly enjoyed the unlimited supply a body wash and shampoo. If you need a nice place to stay in Long Beach I highly recommend this location and this property. It's a good value close to everything with a wonderful staff.

Great hotel, pool and breakfast.... the only down side is the location. If you are relying on the metro to get around then the immediate and surrounding areas to the hotel are not the most desirable. We did not feel safe travelling on the metro after dark so I would advise that this hotel is great if you have a car to get around in but otherwise get something closer to Long Beach or LA, depending on where you want to spend your time. Also it's quite a journey into Central LA via the metro - If you are using this as a base for central LA then you are looking at a 45-60 minute metro journey, 90 minutes to Santa Monica

My husband and I booked this hotel for the night before our Carnival Anniversary Cruise. We enjoyed it! We flew into the Long Beach airport and we called the hotel and they sent their driver to pick us up! We arrived early and they still came and got us. They were also able to check us in a couple hours early as well! We walked four miles to and from the pier. There is a big homeless population in this area but we never felt threatened on our walk. We later took an Uber to and from the Hollywood area and had a great time at a comedy show. The hotel has a great selection for breakfast including a parfait bar, yum!! They also provided a shuttle to the carnival port. Thanks Best Western of Long Beach!

"Pre Carnival cruise "

I picked this hotel because of its offer for hotel/parking/cruise shuttle. I used their workout room before having their breakfast. It was the first hotel I have seen a regular yogurt machine instead of individual cups. Everything was good. A complimentary shuttle got us to and from the Carnival cruise port. I would recommend this hotel, especially if you are cruising with Carnival.

My stay here was amazing. First off, the people are very nice and helpful. Sam helped me and my family plan out our visit and he was very patient and suggested really cool sightseeing places. The property is very clean. My kids loved it here, especially the breakfast. The food was very rich and I was highly satisfied with my stay. I will only choose this hotel when I fly to southern California. See you guys soon!

Our visit to the area was for business.Close distance to airport and convention center.Front desk staff,Erica and David are awesome friendly welcoming employees that make this hotel shine.Room was very well kept and clean.Outside dining options are the downfall but we knew that beforehand...Again thank you to all staff for making this place a nice hotel to be welcomed too.

Our family thought this hotel was perfect for our needs. The staff was very nice and quite helpful. The room was clean, quiet, and well maintained. Pool area was fine. Lots of offerings for breakfast, but could maybe use some variety from day to day. Thankful there was a washing machine that we were able to utilize during our stay. Plenty of parking.

Have shuttle service, area safe and convenient to Queen Mary and Catalina Express , but have no restaurants in area. Can leave car and use their shuttle service. Staff very courteous and willing to help you if asked or needed. All Staff very knowledgeable of area.

We booked 2 rooms through Priceline which we were mislead into thinking we were getting 2 beds per room. Unfortunately, when we got there we had 2 king bed rooms. We were traveling with my daughter, her husband and 3 and 2 year old children so needless to say those room would not be suitable. The manager, Shaun, went above and beyond to get us in rooms that we thought we had booked. We had very clean and comfortable balcony rooms. The staff are all pleasant, helpful and courteous. I would recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again. We also loved the area, lots to do, many places to eat and walking distance to many tourist spots.

"Best (?) Western"

Traveling a lot and staying in many hotels even hotels of the best western brand. Many are really good. Here? Price is relatively high and Rooms are ok... but not really modern. Parking is free. You hear in the second floor the wooden ceiling of the upper floors. The breakfast is really not worth to be called breakfast. Too many guests for too less tables. And the staff is really not helpful and I miss the kindness. No greetings, no smile.... When I read in the elevator that the management would like to have 10 Points in the recommendation .... I needed to smile.

We were greeted with a friendly gal at the front desk reception. My kids were excited to see cookies waiting at check in. This hotel also offers a free shuttle to the Catalina Express Terminal which saves you at least $10 shared ride cost. The room is clean and simple. The hotel is a little older but is clean and quiet. Bedding is comfortable, 4 pillows on each bed. Microwave and mini fridge. Loved that the keys were a swipe, and not the insert kind with magnetic strip. (It seems like the magnetic ones get "zapped" out often with me, so I was glad to see this upgrade The hot breakfast in the morning is delicious. They served Sausage Links, Scrambled eggs (these eggs were really good, not rubbery!) a pancake maker (it automatically pours, cooks, and dispenses), diy waffles, a yogurt dispenser with fresh fruit and toppings, juice, hot coffee. The dining room is big but was busy and the staff setup tables outside in the reception which was great! The staff is very friendly. We just needed a night's stay before we dropped our kids off to Sea Camp! It looked like a lot of people were staying the night before they departed on their cruises.

"Great value hotel "

Best western We had a great stay here at Best western long beach. Me & my partner stayed here as a good value option close to long beach pike. The hotel staff were amazing and helped us tremendously during our stay. They gave us an upgrade along with a later check out which was very kind of them. The hotel itself is good with 4 floors, pool, lobby area and they also have a vending machine along with an ice machine on the 4th floor. It also had 2 computers which you can print from too which is very handy. The room we had was a suite which was fantastic and had EVERYTHING we needed. It had a fridge, microwave, 2 TVs, sofa, bed (very comfy), safe, iron, hair dryer, coffee maker, along with all toiletries. Breakfast was complimentary and although it was a small room and could get quite busy at times was still good and provided most things that was needed but quite basic. Best bit was the self serve pancakes & waffles. They also had breads, scrambled eggs, sausages, cereal, porridge, yogurt, fruit & drinks. They have a small gym which I used too. (Treadmill, stepper, bike, 2 mats and a pull up bar cable machine). Great thing which I fee the hotel should continue with was the coffee & cookies in the lobby area during the day. The cookies were great & could make a coffee whenever needed. The area itself is not great at all with a lot of homeless people but nothing the hotel itself can do to prevent that. There is a metro line literally outside the hotel for transportation which you can take to Hollywood, long beach pike and even Santa Monica Beach if you're looking for a cheap alternative to paying UBER or Taxi. ($7 for a day) Overall had a very pleasant stay here for 3 nights and the value for money I would say is a 9/10. So if you're looking for value this is the hotel for sure but just be wary that the area is not the best especially at night.

"A Convenient Place to Stay Pre-Cruise"

We stayed overnight at this hotel before our cruise. This hotel is convenient for cruise people, as they run a free shuttle to the ship, which you must pre-book. The hotel is quite a way from the cruiseport. They have a breakfast room for guests which we used and found it to be OK. The room was roomy and clean and the bed comfortable. The reception staff were obliging at all times. There is not much around the hotel as far as restaurants go, mainly fast food outlets. The tram stop is just outside the hotel, which is very convenient for the city centre. We would stay at the Best Western again if getting a cruise ship from Long Beach.

Heading out on a cruise? The Best Western is a great option. You can park and fly. Or, the will pick you up at the airport and then shuttle you to the cruise dock... gratis. Great value... don't forget to sign up for their customer loyalty program.

Do NOT stay here!! This hotel will double charge you!!!!!!!!!!! They are thieves!!! and think you will not notice apparently. Do NOT stay here!!! the first charge to my credit card was the day before we were even there. The second, the day after we left ????

The location of this property for our purpose is great we like to stay one or 2 nights before boarding our cruise ship. The Breakfast is really good lots of selection good scrambled eggs and a waffle maker. The beds are comfortable and updated bathrooms are great easy to get into shower tub

We visit Long Beach at this time every year to catch our repositioning cruise home to Vancouver, B.C. We've now stayed a number of years at the BW and once again, this property and its staff proved to be most welcoming! Good, clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation!! Although they've unfortunately discontinued the shuttle to the San Pedro cruise ship terminal (at least until the new bridge is in place), their GM made it his business to make arrangements for our transit to our ship -- Many Thanks Mike! Will definitely stay here again!

Very comfortable room. They provided a free shuttle from the airport and also a shuttle to the cruise port. We will definitely stay here again. The breakfast was average but we'll presented and hot. The area for breakfast is a little small but worked out fine

"CLOSE TO CONVENTION CENTER"

The train on Long Beach Blvd really didn't wake us up but the neighborhood to the rear of the hotel provides a more quiet nights sleep. The bed and linens are comfortable. The breakfast room has a TV. The room is small so when there are large groups they set a few tables and chairs up out in the lobby to provide more seating. Parking is easy and there is no charge There is an outdoor pool, no hot tub. All of the desk clerks were very friendly and efficient.

The hotel is very basic and clean, room size is big and the furniture etc. are good.. the bed sheet was not ironed well so it gives an impression that it is just tucked in every day... I hope that is not true. Toiletries and amenities were available. I was very surprised that they didn't have water bottle in the room which is like very basic. There is a vending machine for snacks and drinks but a bottle of water every day is a minimum expectation. Breakfast is not great and self service oriented make your own waffles kinds. check in and check out was smooth. The area around is not that great, however I was using Uber and had to attend a course in convention center.. worked out well for me.

"I won't stay here again!"

The rooms my friends and I had were nice enough and we had no problems with the staff. The breakfast selections were the same and rather inferior the 3 days we were there. We got charged for the total amount before leaving home and when I called the Best Western 800 number, I was told that all of the Best Westerns have a "prepay" policy. This was not the case last year when I stayed at Best Westerns. And we didn't feel safe going to any of the local businesses because two of the local restaurants had panhandlers and "shady characters".

"Lovely hotel, needs to improve breakfast."

This hotel was great, our room was HUGE for only two people! We had a nice big bathroom, a fridge and a comfy bed. The location was good, down the road from long beach (beach and shops) and close to LAX, however the area seemed quite rough, we did not really want to go out walking at night time as we did not feel comfortable, if you have a car and you are using the hotel as a place to sleep as your out during the day then its worth it. Oh and Michael in the launderette across the road was lovely, go there if you need your clothes washed! Breakfast NEEDS to improve, the room itself is very small and it gets very busy, there is not much room to sit so get down there early. The variety of food was poor, salty scrambled egg, toast, sausages, a frozen yogurt and pancake machine that weren't working, toast and waffles. Might seem a lot but it wasn't, we had toast and jam everyday. However we enjoyed our stay especially as there was a pool to sunbathe around, we did not go in the pool as it was filthy but we got a tan so we didn't care haha!

"Short stay - close to LAX"

Visiting Family in LA en route to Disney World Florida. Wanted a hotel close to airport and to have a couple of days siteseeing in LA (early flight out and didnt want to drive to airport from families place in Fontana Staff friendly and accommodating. Building looks nice and inviting from the outside. Room clean and comfortable (if teenager son happy, we're happy). Location was a bit shady; it was a bit scary as we got closer to the hotels locale. Surrounding area run down; on light rail metro route. Thank goodness for a McDonald's and Starbucks minutes away. Didn't go to McDonald's across the street as there were transient people hanging out on the streets. Once we got in the hotel,we felt safer. I would not walk in the street outside the hotel. May stay for the value but may not due to location.

"NOT a good experience"

I chose this hotel specifically for the airport and cruise port transfers and I booked the rooms directly through the hotel and confirmed this with the person that answered the phone. Upon landing at the airport, I called the hotel to pick us up and was told the driver had gone home and the "courtesy shuttle is subject to availability". Upon checking in I was told that they would not pick us up after the cruise stating it was against their policy and their insurance won't allow it. That contradicts what their website promotes and what I was told when I made my reservation. The manager just blew me off and said "there's nothing I can do". They are running a scam to get reservations and I will never stay here again or any of the hotels ran by this company.

This is the second time we have used this property to leave our vehicle while on a cruise. The rooms are of good quality, the breakfast is standard fare but still good and the parking is covered. Our shuttle to the cruise ship was timely (they left when they said they were leaving and picked us up within a reasonable time). The vehicle was clean and the driver was very pleasant.

We has 17 family members stay and used park and cruise..beds are super comfy staff was great and they were prompt for pick up from cruise terminal. The price is reasonable. Food was good but not great but free works.

We stayed here for one night pre cruise. The free cruise ship shuttle was important to us and did not disappoint. There is not too much in the area but we found it easy to get a cab to the local mall.

The staff at this location is extremely friendly and very professional. The room I stayed in was spacious, extremely clean, and in good condition. My stay lasted several days and housekeeping, every afternoon when I returned to the room, had it in immaculate condition. The bathroom was very spacious, the beds are comfortable. The only negative I could list is their in-house cable system, the television guide which is normally channel 2, does not display anything.... so you have to scan through the channels to see if there's anything on you want to watch.

Stayed one night pre-cruise and will definitely return. Our stay was perfect, our room spacious and clean, and the bathroom literally sparkled! (I want that awesome shower head!) Staff was wonderful and helpful, but we experienced a slight glitch. We arrived early, around 11:00, and were allowed to place our luggage in a locked room. Staff took my phone number and said they'd text when our room was ready, but never did. Not a big problem - we walked around the Long Beach marina and returned to the hotel around 4:00 to check-in. We ended up in a gorgeous room with a great westerly-facing room and couldn't have been happier. I slept in but husband ate, and enjoyed, his breakfast. We left the car parked in hotel's secure lot for the length of the cruise and entire experience couldn't have been better. Look forward to returning in about six months.

"Wouldn't book at Best Western"

I booked this room by mistake, I tried to book at another location in Long Beach but mistakenly booked this one, as soon as I realized I tried to cancel and they refused to and refund my money. I understand they are under no obligation to do so, but I see it as a customer service issue. I've had last minute cancellations with other hotels and without hesitation they cancelled and refunded fees. I wouldn't go through this chain again.Lesson learned

Hotels have non refundable full pay discounted rates for guest who would like to take advantage of a lower rate while committing to to their stay and guaranteeing the hotel of their stay. One cannot take advantage of the lower rate and expect not to have to respect the terms and conditions agreed when booking and receiving the lower rate.

"Easy to Get to, Shuttle to Cruise Port"

We stayed one night before a cruise and found this hotel definitely met our expectations. We rented a van at LAX and were able to return it to Enterprise in downtown Long Beach so we had the use of the van to drive to dinner and we didn't need to use the hotel shuttle to the cruise port because Enterprise drove us. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The buffet breakfast was good except for the coffee which was terrible. Since we were still experiencing a 3 hour time difference so we were wide awake for breakfast at 6 when it opened. The only negative I have, and we could have rectified this ourselves, was that we had a room facing the street and since we are country people we were very bothered by the traffic noise. A simple request for a room away from traffic would likely have fixed this so it's our own fault. I definitely recommend this hotel.

I stayed here the night before a carnival cruise. The location is great for that. The neiborhood is not good. However the hotel seemed secure. Although I was surprised that the delivery driver was aloud up to the room rather than me picking it up in the lobby. This locatioon also has shuttle service to both the cruise terminal (10 min) and the Long Beach airport (15 min.). Breakfast was typical waffle station and eggs. The coffee was not good. The decor and carpeting of thr rooms just seemed dated and grimy but every thing did appear clean.

We stayed here because they offer a shuttle to the cruise port. The breakfast was very nice. There is a market close by for last minute items. We had a pizza delivered so did not venture out for food. The room was very large. We enjoyed our stay. I recommend it pre-cruise. If you take a cab to the port I was told it would be around 30.00.

This hotel is definitely more than a three, but less than a four. The score has everything to do with traveler safety. The room was clean and spacious with a rare treat of windows that open. The room had a fridge, microwave, and safe. Breakfast was far more than I expected. Waffles, pancakes, instant oatmeal, coffee, juice, water, fruit, sausage, yogurt, eggs, and tea. There is even a dollar store at the corner near the metro entry. CON:The stairwells require key card access, however the two doors leading to the elevator from parking remain open at all times yet the elevator does not require key card access. Meaning anyone can walk in off the street unseen and come right up the elevators. That makes me nervous for solo females and preoccupied single moms. TRANSPORTATION: Hotel is across the street from the blue line metro which has links to pretty much everywhere you might want to go for $7/day . The metro pass does not cover buses ($4/all day pass), but does cover the $9 flyaway shuttle (leaves Q1hr on the half hr 0530-2230) from long beach to LAX- a much better choice than using the metro to LAX IMHO. There is even an express commuter bus over to San Pedro. (San Pedro Fish market, cruise ports, currently closed ports o' call shops). Downtown Long Beach also offers free passport buses.

"One Night Stay Before a Cruise"

Our room was very clean, with a comfortable bed. It would be nice to have a brighter bulb at the desk for reading. The buffet breakfast was included and food was served fresh and hot. Freshly made waffles were available. The free shuttle to the Carnival Cruise Lines Terminal at the Port of Long Beach made our morning very easy. The neighborhood is not high end but we walked about a mile to a drug store with no concern. We will stay here again if we sail out of Long Beach.

Easy check in, nice lobby and good breakfast. The rooms are super clean with coffee maker microwave and refrigerator. The staff is excellent with good advise on the area. It is close to Pine Street with it shops and restaurants and the cruise port. They have parking for guest going on a cruise with a shuttle to the port.

I loved my stay at this hotel. My room was stunning. Really spacious with a great bathroom and the bed was soooo comfortable I didn't want to get up in the morning. The gym was small but with everything I needed for a workout. Nice, reasonably priced breakfast in the restaurant and a great bar. Would highly recommend when in Long Beach.

David, at the main desk, arranged a complimentary shuttle to take four persons to the cruise port. Sam, a hotel employee, transported us quickly and safely to our Princess Cruise ship in San Pedro. Both gentlemen provided all the support required to help make our stay enjoyable. Rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast was better than average and the breakfast room staff kept everything filled and fresh. When we return to Long Beach we will choose to stay at this hotel again. This review would have been a 5, If I did not have to go to the front desk 2 nights in a row to have my key card reactivated. Apparently my key card was only good for 2 days, for a 4 day stay. the 3rd night of my stay we got in late and could not get into our room. Went to the front desk and the guy entered some things in the computer, put the card on top of some black box (to activate it) and told us to meet him at our room (he took the stairs) the card worked and he acted like we did something wrong the first time, as if the card was working correctly the whole time. When we saw him activate the card at the front desk. 3rd night of stay the same exact thing happened. Went to the front desk and asked the young lady why would this happen 2 times in a row, the she said that the only thing she could guess is that my card was not entered into the system for the full number of days of my stay. She apologized that that happened (even though it wasn't her fault) This should have been rectified the night before when the guy re-activated it, but it wasn't. So, once again we were inconvenienced. Room was clean, breakfast was ok. The area was fine. Employees were nice enough.

Felt very safe in their location of town. Staff was very inviting, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. They picked us up from the airport w/free shuttle service, free transport to the port for our cruise, and provided a lot of information about shuttles available, UBER, and other transport to site see. Breakfast was really good and fresh. Rooms were nice. Changed hotels based on the addition of the free shuttle.

We love this hotel. The employees are friendly and helpful. They have recently remodeled most of the rooms and the lobby. The breakfast room is always crowded and this visit we noticed they had set up an extra table in the lobby! We use the Park and Cruise package. The underground parking is great. They take you to your port and pick you up after the cruise. Granted, the neighborhood is a bit scetchy but we have never had a problem. If looking for a restaurant head over to Pine Avenue where you will find plenty of dining.

We stayed here for four nights. The first morning we went to the first floor to eat breakfast around 9 am but it was so crowded that we had to take our food to our room. The days after that we went down earlier when it was less crowded but continued to take it to our room. We did laundry one night but didn't like the fact that there was only one washing machine and dryer and they were located in the parking lot. We didn't have any problems and had timed it right so we didn't have to wait for the machines but felt uneasy that our clothes could be easily taken by someone.

Would've given 5 but felt quite unsafe getting metro etc as it's a rough neighbourhood. The rooms are modern, clean and have comfortable beds. There is a fridge and microwave. The complimentary breakfast is good but can get busy. Easy access to LA and LB on public transport. Overall a pleasant visit.

Around every corner was another amenity: guest laundry, pool, computers, work out room, covered parking, etc. Outside was the metro station linking Long Beach to downtown Los Angeles. Metro buses ran frequently out front. The brand new shuttle took us to the Catalina Express one day and to the airport the next. Plenty of restaurants nearby as is everything else. The free breakfast was fantastic. Room 410 was big and sparkling clean and new. This is a first class hotel ran by an all-star staff. We will stay here again for sure.

Stayed one night prior to cruise. Check-in was fast with pleasant service. Lots of parking. Hotel decor very basic (lobby area pretty bare). Room was clean, comfy beds but needs new decor/lighter paint as it was quite dark. Some upgrades eg bathroom. Street noise easily heard through closed window (from 4th floor). Fan/A.C. unit very noisy. Breakfast was fine, usual chain hotel fare (waffles, eggs, sausage, cereals, pastries etc). Overall it met our needs and we were pleased with the price.

Best place for the money we've ever stayed at. Swim pool, refrig and microwave in the room, friendly and helpful staff and drugstores, Markets, and the upscale waterfront within blocks. In fact the Metro station is right outside the front door. Very practical meets economical. The physical plant is a little dated but it's advantages far out weigh the aesthetics. Also, very clean. Great family place.

We stayed the night before our cruise. I wasn't really overly impressed by anything. The one elevator was beyond slow and annoying. Good luck if you have a lot of bags because when the elevator door closes - it closes... regardless if you or your bags are in its path. We got in late and there were no luggage carts to be found so we had to carry all our bags up. We had a lot of bags as a family of 3 going on a 7 day cruise. The staff was friendly and helpful enough. They tried to find a cart for us but simply couldn't. The room was comfortable and satisfactory. The shuttle service to/from the cruise terminal was extremely convenient and fast and efficient. Overall, it's a good value/option for the park and cruise package

Loved this hotel for the value we got. It has a great pool, I recommend putting more plants by the pool to give it a more tropical long beach vibe. The rooms were clean and spacious and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The parking was good and appreciated the facility of it.

Hotel staff was the best!!! Hotel was in a perfect location, easy to get around, across the street from Metro blue line. Beds so comfy, wifi worked all the time. Rooms very nice and clean. Would go back again and again. A nice stop before a cruise, and another nice night before flying out of Long Beach.

This Best Western offers an excellent Cruise Package, leave your car and they will take you to the Cruise Terminal and pick you up. Very friendly staff, nice vacility, clean. Only 15 minutes from Long Beach Airport if you decide to fly in.

"Nice hotel - sketchy area"

Really liked the room. Bed was comfy the room had a fridge, microwave and coffee. We were facing the street / metro and couldnt hear the traffic when the window was closed. Good wifi and breakfast. Small exercise room as well. To access the pool a staff member had to let you in. We also found the staff helpful and friendly but just didn't smile. We walked to the dollar store and King Taco. There is a KFC close by as well but wouldn't recommend venturing out after dark. The lady at the teriyaki restaurant told me 'area not safe. People get jumped you should go back to hotel' The metro / subway us right out the door and you can ride it to downtown long beach or into LA. We rode it end to end and it was an interesting ride. The reason I picked this hotel is it had a shuttle to The cruise terminal.

Staff was extremely professional and helpful. Room was very clean and everything worked well. Breakfast was standard, but filling. Check-in and check-out were a "breeze." Negatives: neighborhood is "sketchy" at best. DO NOT walk around at night by yourself. No coffee in the morning, until breakfast opened. Positives: Staff! Train station right across the street. Great shuttle driver.

"Conveniently Located And Reasonably Priced"

Me and my boyfriend recently stayed here for three nights in a king room. The room was very spacious with a fridge, coffee machine, table and chairs, desk, to, wardrobe, and safe. The air conditioning was very powerful which was great when you needed some quick respite from the heat. The bathroom looked brand new! It had automatic lighting and granite worktops. The tiling was spotless, and the shower was powerful. It smelt very nice too! In fact, the bedroom was very outdated compared to the bathroom, and because the bathroom smelt so nice, the smell of the bedroom was VERY noticeable. It smelt damp and similar to urine, but we think that this smell was from the air conditioning. I felt as though the bedroom carpet needed ripping up, burning, and replacing with laminate. There were many times where we would put fresh socks on, and after wondering around a little, our socks would be filthy. At least with laminate flooring you can visually see where is clean and where isn't. The hotel was very conveniently located. It was about a mile and a half away from downtown long beach which me and my boyfriend would happily walk. We stayed there as there was an event we were attending at the convention centre, and compared to the other hotels in the area, this was the most reasonably priced with positive reviews. There is a metro a two minute walk from the hotel if you want to get around LA, and there is a bus stop right outside, so ample public transport is available. If you have a care parking is free! And this was the first time for the whole holiday that we were able to leave our car somewhere without someone wanting money off us, so we were very pleased. The hotel also has a swimming pool outside which unfortunately we didn't have time to use. The breakfast was disappointing. Nothing special at all. The McDonald's across the road definitely saved us a couple of times. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

We have stayed here several times using the 7 day parking when we cruise. The hotel shuttle takes us to and picks us up from the dock. It's a nice place to stay with comfortable beds. I do wish the breakfast had some non-carb options.

Every time I cruise out of Long Beach I stay at this hotel. They offer a shuttle to the cruise port, safe parking for your car while you cruise, and shuttle back to get your car. They also have continental breakfast and free wifi. They've recently remodeled the hotel, and it's even better now.

"Overnight and Cruise"

We were delayed by a couple of hours and went straight to bed. Our Taxi driver had advised us not to walk out at night. I felt the quality was not what we expected from a Best Western. It was reasonably clean but dated and air con noisy. We used an Uber to take us to the town for breakfast which was only $10, our driver expressed the same concerns for the area. TBH we saw no trouble at all during our brief stay. We never used the shuttle but went to the Port as soon as we got back from breakfast and a stroll around the yachts. OK if you arrive late,get your head down and head out asap.

Hotel was nice and staff was great. Breakfast was more then expected and good food. The neighborhood is a little rough at night but overall we had no problems. Use the shuttle service from the airport and to the cruise line and it was perfect.

I stayed here the night before taking a Carnival cruise. It was the perfect way to begin my vacation and was extremely stress-free. My boyfriend and I arrived at the hotel and were immediately greeted by friendly and welcoming staff who checked us in quickly and without issue, and we were even upgraded to a suite free of charge. We made use of the hotel's 24hr business center and enjoyed the continental breakfast the next morning. We parked our car in their basement parking garage where our vehicle was protected from the elements and we felt completely secure in leaving it there for the week. The shuttle service to the cruise terminal was prompt and again provided us with a stress-free pre-cruise experience. Upon return we called for the shuttle and again received great service as we were returned to our car. I highly recommend this Park n' Cruise package and I will definitely be using it again the next time I cruise out of Long Beach! It really was effortless and stress-free, how a vacation should be!

Staff was friendly and helpful. I was very pleased with the complimentary shuttle service, drivers were prompt and courteous. Room was clean and well appointed, plenty of outlets and a USB charger in the bedside table.

"Great hotel for the money"

The hotel was great. From staff, breakfast, room and amenities. For the money, it was a great deal. Only issue is that the area around the hotel does not feel safe. The hotel is next to the blue line train, so that is convenient when going to downtown Long Beach.

I can't say enough about the fantastic hospitality of management and staff. My friends and I arrived at Long Beach from the Amtrak. The hotel sent a shuttle for us. Rooms were clean and spacious. They had hot fresh cookies around 5pm. We walked a couple short blocks to Taco King for a quick dinner. Yummy. Breakfast was much more than continental. What was perfect, they ask when you checked in what time did wanted to take the shuttle to the cruise ship. They were organized so there were no long shuttle lines. Would stay again!!

"Good place before a cruise"

We (wife and I) stayed here one night awaiting our Carnival cruise. Motel offered shuttle service from airport and to the ship, which was a deciding factor in choosing this location.Room was clean and well furnished. Breakfast was very good. Nothing bad to say about the motel. The neighborhood was however a little sketchy. There was not really anywhere near to have dinner other than fast food and probably should't be out at night on the streets. Overall it was a clean nice motel that met our needs.

"Excellent Staff, Super Clean, Questionable Area"

Our stay was punctuated by a friendly, professional staff who were constantly cleaning the property, inside and outside to include the parking garage and the parking lot! The rooms were average and the free, included breakfast was good. Again, the staffing at the breakfast was nothing short of amazing. This was our pre-cruise hotel and the property provided a complimentary shuttle to the cruise terminal. The shuttle driver was professional and helpful. A light rail stop was diagonally and across the street with self serve dispensers for ride cards. If we were to cruise out of Long Beach again, this location would be on our short list, mainly because of the staff and cleanliness.

The location of the hotel is excellent for many local attractions. It's a very short drive from the port to take a ferry to Catalina Island for instance. The hotel staff proficient. It makes an easy starting point for the day

"Quiet and comfortable stay"

We stayed here for 9 nights and asked for a room high up in the hotel. We got a room on the third floor. This was perfect as nobody in the fourth floor room to thump around on the floor above! The hotel was flexible in the breakfast time. It ends at 9.30 but we were able to come down at 9.30 and still get different breakfast options from the breakfast bar. This ensured we had a seat too. A good breakfast as the boys could make their own pancakes or waffles. My husband would have liked bacon though. My son particularly liked the sprinkles and chocolate drops that you could put on your pancakes and waffles. The room was spacious enough to put 3 suitcases without tripping over them. This still gave us plenty of room to relax. There was a coffee maker, fridge and microwave in the room so we could self cater if we wished. There are supermarkets in easy travelling distance for you to pick up bits to eat if you wish. There are also plenty of fast food places in the area like Mc Donalds and a pizza express which you can walk to. The hotel is opposite the metro - very convenient if you wish to use this method of transport around LA. We had hired a car so did not use this transport. The car park has plenty of space. No hassle if you have spent a long day out and are parking late at night. Swimming pool is clean and quiet. It is in full sunshine during the morning which is great for a sunbathe as there are pool loungers. Our boys went swimming in the evening and stayed in the pool until about half past nine despite the pool closing time being 9.00. The staff do not mind providing you are sensible and children are being watched. Staff are very helpful. It is a good location for a hotel, but not right on top of the beach. We drove down to the beachfront. You could walk if you wish, but read other peoples' reviews that have done this journey. We enjoyed our 9 night stay and would stay here again. We got good value for money at about 100 dollars a night for a family room including breakfast. One problem is there is only one lift. You need to be patient as many people are using it!

We made a last minute decision to drive to Long Beach, late at night, and spend the night. We were going to catch the Catalina Express early the next morning and decided we didn't want to fight the morning LA traffic. We didn't have a reservation and arrived really late, almost midnight. The gentleman that was on duty was very friendly, and thankfully they had a room for us. Our room was nicely decorated and very clean. We enjoyed it very much and would definitely stay here again. The room included breakfast which was nice. They have a nice breakfast area, and the breakfast included a lot of items. All of the staff we encountered were very nice, and we had a very enjoyable stay.

Hotel was very clean. Staff was friendly. Nice hot breakfast available. They have a park & Cruise package we were unaware of but will use next time. Very close to the Cruise ship terminal. They also have a laundry room.

Hotel clean & ok. As you would expect from a best western. Breakfast ok..nothing flash just basic self service. Small gym. Guest laundry. Metro directly opposite. 4 stops from down town where there are great places to eat. Long beach Marian is nice to walk around & watch the sun set whilst having a drink.

The Hotel was a perfect way to get to the Cruise Terminal and leave the car. It was a good stay, not fancy, but adequate. I would do this stay again. The breakfast was good and got pretty busy. The neighborhood was not the greatest, but we felt safe.

Price is good rooms are decent and free parking. I stay here when I have weekend events at the Convention Center it is cheaper than the immediate area of downtown. Very convenient and nice place to crash my head. And good free breakfast.

We came to Long Beach to visit our daughter who lives several miles away! We are spending 5 nights here and tonight is our last! Every day we have sought advise and or help from staff members here! Shawn Jones has been exceptional from the first day. He gave a wonderful recommendation for a local sports bar and the server he recommended took exceptional care! Then we tried to figure out how to get parking for a Dodgers game. Spending much time printing our pass! I could go on and on about how helpful he was! Also saw him with other guests, treating them with great respect and patience! Very valuable employee, Best Western! You have a lot at this property! Breakfast was well stocked and constantly kept in good shape! Every employee we met were stellar! Can say enough good things about this hotel, except know we will return!

"Read the numerous good reviews before booking, but the hotel is just average"

We just got back from Long Beach and stayed at this hotel, so my feelings about it are still fresh. It's just an average hotel. Nothing special, so you get what you pay for. Let's start with the pros: - Good nightly rate - Lobby is clean - Breakfast is included - Free secure parking - Free WIFI with a decent signal - Good long list of TV channels, including HBO! - Air conditioning worked! Now for the Cons: - The walls and ceiling feel very thin. We stayed on the 2nd floor (which is the lowest floor despite requesting a higher floor when we booked online) and we could hear every single footstep and door from the room upstairs. It was unbearable at times, and was very disturbing late at night. - Breakfast was simple. There were eggs and sausage, but nothing was good. Just good enough for a quick bite. The coffee was not very good, and they kept running out of milk every morning around 9:00am. - There is only one elevator, so expect long waits for it in the morning. We waited 10+min on the morning of checkout because we had luggage. There was no air conditioning in the hall ways, so waiting for the elevator was a very uncomfortable experience. - The pillows at this hotel were some of the worst I've every slept on. My kids rather sleep with no pillow than use their lumpy and hard pillows. My wife complained of neck pain from their pillows. Other Notes: - If you are staying here to access attractions in LA or Disneyland, note that it's a long drive to those locations, especially with LA traffic. Expect about 30-40min to Disneyland in the morning, and 40+min to attractions in Los Angeles - This hotel is close to Long Beach and there are many fast food restaurants around the area. - Close to the convention centre, but you'll still need to drive or take the Metro. - The area seems generally safe for families, but we didn't see many pedestrians except for those people waiting at the Metro station across from the hotel

"Confirm your shuttle service before making reservation"

On Friday, August 18th, the hotel desk personnel (Dave) refused to provide shuttle transportation from the Long Beach airport to the hotel when we arrived . My husband I called the desk at 4:40 pm and stated we arrived and had our baggage. We made three phone calls attempting to get shuttle service to the hotel as it is explained on the Best Western Long Beach website. (Shuttle service is available until 5 pm) On the first call my husband was placed, he was placed on hold for over 5 minutes before he hung up. The second call, I called and was told, "My shuttle driver went home for the day." I explained that we were expecting transportation as it is posted on the facility website. Dave suggested a taxi, Uber, etc. My husband and I discussed this. On the third phone call, my husband asked if the hotel will pay for the transport. Dave replied, "No." We asked why and he stated that we used a third-party booking site (Bookit.com) and that the priority for transporting passengers were for customers who booked directly with Best Western. At this point, my husband and I obtained transportation to the hotel and discussed it with the front desk. We were told the same explanation. It is important that the information posted on the website fully explain this to customers before they make reservations. If we knew this, we would have selected another hotel that provides shuttle service. (The cancellation policy states that we would be charged if we did not cancel by Thursday, August 17, 2017.) As a result, we will be confirming transportation policies with hotels in the future.

Best Western is my "go to" hotel! Whenever I can I look for BW because of their good value and great experience. Having breakfast is definitely a plus! The Long Beach BW has gone "green" and I appreciate them going the extra mile to be efficient and environmentally friendly.

A nice clean hotel. Good internet, good cable TV, comfy bed, and bedding. The rooms have plenty of electrical plugs for laptops and charging smart phones. The front desk personnel are professional and friendly. The lobby is very nice and welcoming.

The beds were very comfy! Free shuttle to the Long Beach cruise terminal which saved us time and money. The shuttle driver went out of his way to accommodate our electric wheelchair which was very appreciated. This hotel was great for our family. We had a 2 bedroom suite with 2 queen beds in each room. We also had 2 bathrooms. One door entrance was perfect for our family. I would love to stay here again!

The hotel was clean and the beds comfortable. We used the park and ride feature for our 4 day cruise. The shuttle service efficiently handled our 14 family members in two trips, the ride is only a 10-15 minute trip to the docks. Our cars were in perfect condition when we returned. The staff was helpful and courteous. We will definitely stay here again for future cruises.

The bed was so soft that it was more like sleeping in a hammock. I would have given a 4 or 5 star review if it had been a good bed. The breakfast was among the best for this type of hotel, and we travel a lot.

We needed a place to stay for 1 night. The price was right, and the hotel was fairly close to our destination. The neighborhood was...not great. It's a part of Long Beach that has just not received any love in recent years. Surprising, because there is so much good in Long Beach. In any case, had this been for vacation purposes, it might have been a bit daunting to someone not familiar with the area. The hotel itself was clean and well-kept, and we felt safe on the property. There is a bit of noise from the street, and from the Metro station across the street, but the A/C worked well, and provided white noise.

Mike the shuttle driver was very respectful knowledgeable, excellent time management, excellent driving skills navigating traffic. Also stayed here at the end of the cruise. "Not good"

The room stank like urine, although it got better once we turned on the air conditioner..... Horrible area, destitute poor begging and loitering....we got suckered in by the price. There was a car that got broken in to in the parking garage right next to my car. Tryied to get airconditioning turned on in fitness room, but helpers were unattentive.

Great location on Long Beach Blvd. central to restaurants shopping, the beach etc. near trolley stop. Clean room, good breakfast. Free parking free wifi, but wifi was very slow. Very comfortable bed! Staff was very friendly and professional. Pool just outside front door. Quiet and peaceful.

"Worst Best Western"

We were given a handicapped designated room; it was the only room available (they said). The door wouldn't open all the way, so there is no way a wheelchair could fit the door. We could barely get a suitcase through the door. They leave the windows open, but don't tell you that at check-check. Our room smelled of diesel. The electrical cluster was a huge safety hazard (see picture) and their fixtures are rusted. Even our new room (the one they gave us after my husband complained about the door and the fire hazard; the one that wasn't available before) was dank, dirty, worn out. Place needs to be shut down while they renovate, repair, and rehire new staff. If we didn't have kids with us, I would have asked for a refund and slept in my car!

"Convenience"

After spending a day on Catalina Island, we wanted a convenient, quiet, clean hotel. This Best Western filled the bill. Breakfast was nicely presented and well maintained. Bedding lacked quality but the mattress was comfortable. We enjoyed a good nigh'ts rest and visited a couple of nearby art museums the next day.

"A perfect Pre Cruise package Hotel for a Family"

We've stayed here many times in the past 10 years....and in that time the hotel has only improved.....we love the staff Marco and Erica and all the rest....the entire family loved the pool....it's clean.... continental breakfast was good..there is a Pizza Hut within walking distance and a short drive to get McDonald's or Mexican food....and all sorts of little convenience stores within walking distance, so, while enjoying the pool we got McD's for the kiddo's and pizza and beer for the adults and spent an awesome day in the pool or relaxing under the umbrella poolside. The rooms are clean, the air conditioner worked very well. The showers produce excellent water pressure and the temperature adjusted nicely, the gym is a nice one.....the cruise parking package is reasonable....you just cannot go wrong with a Best Western....and a word of advice...if you read on here that the hotel is in a shady part of town...it's just not true.....it is safe to walk, the hotel grounds are fenced in and the grounds are beautiful with all the flowers, the underground parking is locked at night......we have walked at night....never had a single problem....and I am super cautious....Go.....Enjoy!!

"Clean hotel despite sketchy location"

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews... for the price and space I thought the hotel was pretty good for the weekend stay. It's pretty difficult to find a cheap hotel on the weekend in Los Angeles, and I only ended up paying like $110 a night (you get a discounted rate if you're a Best Western Rewards member, which is free to join). Service: Check-in/out was easy and painless. They were pretty good at giving us fresh towels when we needed them. The only thing that's a little sketchy is if you don't want room service put your "Do Not Disturb Sign" all day on your door, they still come in some time later and leave a note to tell you they didn't clean your room because of the sign and if you want fresh towels to come to the front desk. Just something to keep in mind when you leave your stuff out. Room: I think some of the photos posted of the rooms look dated, since the rooms looked pretty modern. They were clean too. Beds were comfy and there was actually a lot of space for our luggage and the move around. I'm glad they have a microwave and refrigerator too. Plenty of electrical outlets for charging phones. Wi-Fi: Super sketchy, not sure if it was because of the area but my phone couldn't even connect to it. We managed to get a laptop and a tablet connected, but even then it was super slow. Oh well, at least it's free. Breakfast: Typical hotel complimentary breakfast buffet with a waffle machine, pancake machine, eggs (both boiled and scrambled), sausage, juice, coffee, cereal, and pastries/bread. Nothing really too special... though I like that they had a yogurt dispenser. I'm never able to finish the Yoplait cups so it was nice to control how much yogurt I could get. Area: Definitely not the nicest area of Long Beach... it's a little sketchy to be walking out there are night. But it's across the Metro that can take you to DT Long Beach where there's a lot to do and see. Otherwise if you're driving then the area is alright - it's a really quick drive to Long Beach pier, like 5-10 minutes. Parking: First off, parking is free. They a good amount of parking outside the hotel and in the underground parking garage (it exists, we didn't notice it the first time haha). Parking is tight, but manageable. It's really only bad because the other people park terribly. We ended up renting a minivan and had some difficulty parking our vehicle when we came back late at night - the spots that were left were for compact. What annoys me is that the cars that actually fit the compact space park in the regular spaces... they really should move the compact spaces closer to the entrance so those cars are more inclined to park there. ;) Overall, I had a comfortable stay. It's not a Hilton or a Embassy Suites but it's still a hotel that meets my basic needs... while still being clean.

"All in all a good stay"

We are on our honeymoon and so far this hotel had the best bed by far. The room itself was your standard fare, although the bathrooms were recently remodeled and we quite nice. The hotel itself was somewhat outdated but no big deal on that end. It had a complementary breakfast which was nice. They also locked the parking garage at night to keep out the riff raff. Only real downside was the neighborhood was less than ideal and again the halls and hotel itself was slightly outdated. Would recommend for a max three night stay. Nothing super long term.

"Nice place even though it's a little older"

The accommodations are older and the neighborhood doesn't seem like the best, but I would definitely come back again! I came for a conference at the convention center and I was able to take the shuttle from the hotel to the conference. I was not able to take it back because my conference ran past the the 5:00 time the shuttle made their last run. Taking a taxi back was still cheaper than parking at the convention. The staff was nice. The food was good. The place was clean. I had windows that actually opened in my room so I could have fresh air! Housekeeping did a nice job of cleaning the room each day. I would stay here again!

"Best service, well managed"

I was nervous checking into this hotel after reading many negative reviews on the hotel location. Yes, this hotel is not in a very nice area, with many homeless people around. But the service we got is superior. It very well compensated the location issue. Every staff we had in this hotel, from the room cleaning ladies, to the front desk staff, the breakfast room lady, and the security ghard, are very nice and professional. Truly appreciate. I just feel the management of this hotel is one of the best that I ever had. The only complain I have about this hotel is the elevator. It is simply too small. Regarding the location, we tried to stay within the hotel during,the night. But this hotel is very close to downtown long beach, with metro train and bus right in front of the hotel. Uber costed us only $5 to go to the downtown and convention center. So in some way, the location is not bad at all.

I traveled to Long Beach to attend a conference in Late June 2017 and stayed in this hotel two nights. All in all it was satisfying but I think that for the money I paid I could get even better services in similar hotels.

Hotel itself is a nice facility but it's in a bad neighborhood. When we got to our room my 3yo daughter said "look someone jumping on a trampoline!" And she webough we had a horrible view of a block of very run down and over grown homes. Next time would have gotten a hotel closer to the harbor.

I was in Long Beach from the 11th - 18th of june 2017 to attend E3. my stay at the hotel was great anything i needed the staff was great helpful and courteous i had no issues. the neighborhood was rough but it was NEVER a problem so i can factor that into my stay the hotel was cleaned routinely and breakfast was served every morning fresh. the rooms were spacious and clean. i enjoyed my stay and the staff 4/5 stars

"Not what It looks Like"

Upon booking this hotel it looked updated and modern and in a great location. (across from the lrt station) but upon arrival we got a unpleasant surprise. The rooms were small and we ordered 2 queens and got a king. Out our window we were looking at a roof Top with cigarettes butts all over (we are smokers but believe we should make every attempt not to inconvenience people). The area of Long Beach (just of the Pacific Hi-way was not a great place and the rooms were certainly not clean. We were able to cancel our stay as they made so many mistakes but I still do not believe this hotel is good value for the money.

Hotel is located in a rough part of town. Had several people stop and ask us for money. Our room had an awful stench. It smelled like body Oder and had a mold smell. The staff however was very friendly! The hotel overall was nice and clean. Just VERY disappointed in our room smell and stain on our sheets.

"Long Beach hotel with shuttle svs to the port."

We stay at Best Western frequently as we like the reliability of the brand. This hotel did not disappoint us. We chose it because it had a free shuttle to the Port for embarking on a cruise ship from San Pedro. The hotel itself had everything we needed and expected in a BW, but is in an area with only fast food within an easy walking distance, and I wouldn't recommend walking the somewhat "shady" neighborhood after dark. If you have a car then it is a short drive to the water and more upscale eating choices. We also used the self service washer & dryer which was convenient, but it was located in the covered parking garage that had little to no security. Anyone could have walked in off the street and taken items from the machines unless you stood watching them for the full time needed to complete the wash & dry cycles. (I didn't stand watch and all was ok).

"Enjoyed our Stay"

A friend and I stayed here for two nights prior to going on a cruise. Our room was very clean, bright and nicely decorated. After checking in and getting settled in the room we went to the front desk to ask for suggestions for a good restaurant within walking distance. Deep was very helpful and we were very happy with his recommendation. Upon returning to the hotel we chatted with Deep again and he gave us bus and train information. We had the Continental Breakfast the next morning. There was a very good choice of food, with lots of it being hot. The staff made sure nothing ran out. After spending the day sight seeing in Long Beach we returned to the hotel where we met Bryon who was on the front desk. He was very friendly, helpful and personable. The next morning we were given a later check out time to coincide with check in time on the cruise ship. Mark was our shuttle driver, and another very personable fellow. This hotel may not be in the best neighborhood,but it offers excellent value for the dollar and Deep, Byron and Mark made us feel at home. We would highly recommend this hotel.

"A few nights before cruise departure"

I would give this hotel more stars if not for its awful location.....it's a shame that it is fairly derelict area as the hotel itself is quite comfortable and appealing. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast each morning was standard fare, all very fresh and ample. The room was roomy and comfortable, good bed. Great service with their own shuttle to the port to catch the cruise ships. There is a variety store within walking distance to the hotel. Also a pizza place across the road. The other bonus is the train stops right outside the front door so you can access downtown Long Beach or Los Angeles fairly easily. You can buy tickets at this station from a machine too. All up the hotel itself would definitely be worth a re-visit, especially if I was cruising out of San Pedro again.

"Decent Place"

I booked this hotel as part of a Travelocity package and was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. As some of the reviewers have said, it is maybe not the best area of town but as two women traveling alone we didn't have any issues. We were always able to get parking for our rental car and there were cameras everywhere so it felt pretty secure. We had one night where people were getting pretty loud out in the hall but it didn't take long before we could hear a staff member letting them know they were disturbing other guests and to please take it back to their rooms and it was quiet after that. The hotel is definitely not soundproof as we could hear the people in the room above us walking quite loudly but that didn't keep us from sleeping. The room came with a microwave, coffee maker and fridge which we definitely used as we found a supermarket not that far away the first night and stocked up on water and snacks. There was also an in room safe that we took advantage of to store our extra cash and passports. The breakfast was great. There were eggs and sausages every morning as well as make your own waffles and pancakes, yogurt parfaits with multiple toppings, toast, muffins, fruit, juice, milk, coffee. We never had a problem getting a table even on the most busy days (I think we just got lucky on a couple of the days but I was happy). All the staff we spoke to were friendly and nice but the ladies in the breakfast area were probably some of the sweetest and most friendly we encountered. The hotel was great for us to get to all of tours and activities we had planned. The pool looked nice but we didn't get a chance to use it or the fitness area. Thank you for a good stay.

"Great pre-cruise hotel"

This is a very nicely run property with a friendly and helpful staff. No problem with our very late arrival, quiet room, comfortable beds. Only thing different I noticed from other BWP properties is that lotions and shampoos are out of a dispenser instead of individual containers. Guess this is a cost cutting measure but the products were good. They offer a free shuttle service to the cruise ship terminal and were very civilized about signing people up in advance at designated time slots. (A 10 minute ride to the port.) Their simple complimentary hot breakfast was quite decent. The only minor inconvenience was the location doesn't have a supermarket or drugstore within walking distance. We had hoped to pick up a 12 pack of soda and a few decent bottles of wine to take on our cruise. After walking several blocks all we could find were a few small "mini-mart" liquor stores with a limited, overpriced mediocre wine selection and no diet Dr. Pepper in cans. (oh well...) We would definitely stay here again if taking another cruise and just pack the wine in our luggage.

I have stayed here two times now with family before cruising. The location is close to the waterfront, the staff friendly and always accomadating. The pool is clean, extra toothpaste and towels at the desk no problem, a good breakfast, and late check out too. We think it is a very good value for the money.

The manager in all the employees during my stay was excellent employees !! They went above and beyond anything I could've asked for and you should be very proud they have those people working daytime evening and late night all day or an excellent job in the daytime manager of the two days that I stayed there could not have done more to make sure that I was comfortable than anybody else so thank you very much and I'll continue to stay at best Western's !!!

We got in late at night and so did not want to spend a lot of money on a high end hotel. But we wanted clean, safe and comfortable. This hotel suited our needs perfectly. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The transportation to the cruise ship terminal was free. The breakfast was great!

This worked out well for us as we went from the Harbor to Cal State Long Beach several times. The room was nice, and breakfast was amazing - from yogurt to pancakes and waffles! We found this to be less expensive than Golden Sails, even though we booked very last minute

This hotel is by fare average at best. The rooms are way over priced and the staff and services were poor. I was thankful to be able to park my vehicle here while I was cruising but I worried the whole time my car would be safe. Value for the money poor find another place to stay.

We stayed here 2 nights before our Mexico cruise. Friendly, helpful staff. Able to get a bite to eat within walking distance. Transportation provided to the cruise port. Free parking for car. Also staff helped in finding a tour to see Hollywood and Los Angeles which picked us up right from the hotel.

Very good hotel and near amenities, very efficient staff, secure vehicle parking a plus. Continental breakfast very good. The pancake machine was very slow and cooked very tiny pancakes. The Lon Beach light rail station was right outside the hotel. The hotel is in an older part of downtown.

Simple, clean with basic amenities. It has a decent gym and a pool. Perfect place for business travelers and just 5-10 minutes drive to the Long Beach Convention Center. It offers free continental breakfast and wifi. My bed was so comfy but you can hear voices from other rooms at night.

The hotel itself is not bad. They offer free parking, free breakfast and free wifi which was a plus but the location is not the best specially if you don't have a car. Room size is good, well cleaned. Breakfast is honest.

Expedia overbooked me so I was upgraded to a king suite with no additional charge. The girl at the front desk was very helpful and my room was very nice. The living room area was a little out dated but the bedroom and restroom were amazing!

We arrived at the Long Beach airport after our flight and called the hotel for our free shuttle ride just to be informed that shuttle service stops at 4:30 pm. Every. Day. We were not told this when we booked the room and asked about shuttle service. Since we needed a shuttle at 8 pm this would have had us looking elsewhere. After an $30 Uber ride, we checked in to the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed at. Everything was covered in a thick layer of dust and grime. I've been to Motels that are cleaner. We were also told when we booked this hotel that it was within walking distance to restaurants. Technically this isn't a lie. It's only about a mile to a big downtown area full of places to eat and there are a few fast food places just across the street. HOWEVER... every single building in the area has bars on the windows. The Pizza Hut across the street has 6 inch thick glass separating the customers and the employees. So sure you could walk, but who in their right mind is going to walk in a neighborhood that is so dangerous that the cheap pizza place is behind bulletproof glass?! Not me! I would never stay here again. I would never recommend this place to a friend or enemy. And frankly I'm pretty pissed that I paid almost $200 for 1 night in a dirty room in a crappy part of town.

"Decent hotel option"

To make it short and sweet: the hotel itself is good, but some folks may find the area around it "sketchy," by which I mean there are some unsavoury types that you'll see on the streets. Multiple taxi cab drivers told me not to walk alone at night. Your mileage may vary. I understand that the hotel has no control over the area, but if you're thinking you'll be able to stay here and take transit to get to parts of Long Beach that are closer to the Promenade area, think again. You'll definitely have to take a taxi or an uber. As well, the walls are paper thin, so be aware that you're going to hear your neighbours on the same floor and the ones above you so it doesn't make for easiest sleep if you're sensitive to that sort of thing. The hotel staff were good. They always addressed my concerns. The room had all the amenities I wanted and was mostly clean--my only complaint is that a few of the blanket sheets had stains when I saw them on the first day, and lipstick marks, and one of the towels in the bathroom had this as well, but the next day they were cleaned up, which I appreciated. There's a vending machine on the fourth floor, which is good. Also, this Best Western has an elevator so if you're concerned about stairs for any reason, it's not going to be an issue. Other good points about this hotel are that it has a pool and a deck area, it has parking, it has a free continental breakfast from 6am to 9am, and they offer free wi-fi.

although this hotel is in a questionable area, it is best western and the staff is very helpful and the rooms are okay. noise can be heard from the floor above but the hallways are quite. safe free parking with a gate. we appreciated the staff checking to see if a room was available for check in, and providing us with extra blankets and amenities.

Stayed here for 2 nights after a cruise and its a great little hotel I have to say. Staff are very pleasant and helpful giving great information about places to visit and how to get there. Rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable and although its right next to a main highway....remarkably quiet. Right outside is a Metro line which takes you Downtown to Long Beach and all the attractions, shops and restaurants.Visit the promenade at night time... Its great!! We all purchased a 24hr Metro ticket for a mere $8. this gives you totally unlimited travel on the Metro system and Metro buses. Great as we also visited Hollywood Blvd and Universal Studios which are approx 1hr journey away, then came back and used the tickets for our return journey to Downtown Long Beach in the evening. Good breakfast selection, although it has to be said that it was a bit of a scrum in the morning as there no set pattern to the self service breakfast. But no complaints about the quality... If you decide to walk to Long Beach it'l take you about 45 mins and for the price of the Metro... Isnt really worth it. Just wish we had discovered it a bit sooner!! There is a decent pool at the hotel too with plenty of lounges and tables and chairs if you just fancy having a lazy day around the pool. Only thing I would say about the hotel is that the A/C units are very loud if you try to use them. Extremely large too. Thats the only disappointing feature I would say. We had a late check out and although we had to be out the rooms by 11.30am we were allowed to leave our cases in the office whilst we wandered off down the street for a bit of last minute shopping at the local shops. Enjoyed our stay here and would defo stay here again if ever I was lucky enough to return to Long Beach

We stayed here before we went on a cruise. It is right on the metro line which tales you to downtown Long Beach for 2 dollars. The room was your average hotel room. My only complaint is the pillows were lumpy and did not give a good night's rest. The bed wasn't the best either. The breakfast was very good for a hotel breakfast.

We did not stay here for the location, we stayed here to park our car and hop a ride to the pier so we could stuff our faces on a cruise for 3 nights. The "park and cruise" package. The hotel is not in a great area, but the property itself felt safe. I would certainly avoid taking a leisurely stroll after dark though. Upon arrival, the guy at the front desk did not seem very happy to see me. No smile, no welcome, just asked for my name. Not very inviting. Everyone we spoke to at the front desk after him was very friendly. The elevators are slow. Very slow. Two times when we called the front desk, there was no answer. We were given a room on the 2nd floor, overlooking what appeared to be a guy washing cars in the alley below. He was loudly blasting music from South of the border. Was it the hotel trying to get us into the Mexican Cruise spirit before our trip? Don't think so. The music stopped before it got dark so it was not much of a problem. We kept the window closed. The room was clean. Walking barefoot on the carpet did not make my feet black and dirty. A very standard Best Western type room this was. Not great, not bad. Had a mini fridge and coffee in the room. The TV had a lot of kid channels and that is good news if you have kids. We do. Toilet issue alert! Toilet issue alert! Our one and only toilet repeatedly stopped/backed up. They had to come up and use a plunger before we were able to go to bed. After they did the plunge, an hour later it stopped up again. In the morning it stopped up...again, but this time after some serious usage by the kids. Gross! We called the desk to explain the situation but were told the person responsible for plunging would not be in for another hour. Ugh. I guess they have a plunger specialist in house...We were told we could use the bathroom in the lobby until that time. We have 3 kids. That sucked. They have a gym. It's more of just a room with a treadmill, 2 exercise bikes and a machine. Not fantastic, but serves its purpose. Glad they had it. And I liked the pretty scenery photography covering the lights. Breakfast in the morning was decent for a Best Western. Outside of the nasty powdered eggs, they had enough items to make a family of 5 happy. The transport to and from the port was as expected. Shuttle was on time both directions and we had zero issues. An added perk was once you go to retrieve your car after your trip, you can grab a coffee or some breakfast if you get back early enough. We did. Would we stay here again? Only if it was for 1 night, the price was right, and they were driving me to and from the port for a cruise.

I stayed here a day before cruise and a day after cruise. I arrived early than I expected, check in time was not until 3pm. Erica was very nice and helpful she check to see what rooms were available and without hesitation she check me in at no additional charge. Thanks Erica for helping me out. I will always stay here when I'm in Long Beach. Cheap and close to cruise ships.

I came down to Long Beach from Las Vegas for a beer festival. The locatuon is perfect and I've stayed at this hotel once years ago and it was a great experience so that is why I decided to stay again when it came to having to find a hotel. Great frig! Loved the pillows. In room safe worked great & there were plenty of outlets for electronic devices. Free wifi was adequate. Nice shower & we loved the shampoo, lotion, etc dispenser s. Very nice free breakfast. Ice machine worked great. Access to light rail & bus is a hop, skip, & a jump from hotel. They also have a shuttle & free inside parking. The only real negative was hearing the people walking around in the room above us. We'll be back though, maybe we can get a room on the top floor.

This hotel was clean, comfortable, well maintained and conveniently located near downtown. We needed to be near downtown for a family wedding and it worked out perfectly! The staff was very accommodating in reserving the 4 rooms we needed on the same floor right next to each other. The breakfast was good - eggs, sausage, hot coffee!!, etc. Our family and friends enjoyed making yogurt parfaits with granola and fruit. The hotel bathrooms have been updated and were very clean. This hotel was exactly what we needed for a busy family weekend where we out and about most of the day and just wanted someplace close to the wedding venue and comfortable to stay all together. Really a great value!!

The staff were friendly and provided great customer service, but the area was not good place to be around. Because the rail is right across, a lot of noise and activity in the middle of the night. Not safe to be walking around in the area. Also the sheets did not smell fresh.

"Long Beach Hotel - Cruise Stop Over"

We stayed at this hotel twice during our March 2017 vacation. The first day, we were getting off a cruise ship and needed a place near by for one night before getting onto another cruise the next morning. I called them from the port and their free shuttle came right to the port and picked us up within 20 minutes. The driver, Sam, was excellent. He brought us right to the hotel. As we arrived at 10:30 AM, we were not surprised that a room was not available for us yet, so we stored our luggage in their back room and went exploring in Long Beach. The hotel is located right across the street from the public transportation (LA Metro - Blue Line - Pacific Coast Highway stop). Please realize that as with any public transportation, you will have some less desirable individuals in the area. We only had to walk half a block to the intersection and crossed to the center of the street to board the train and were quickly down to the new outlet center on the shoreline of Long Beach. When we returned to the hotel, our room was ready, we claimed our luggage and were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room. The hotel is not new, but well kept up and clean with automatic lights when you open the doors. We got up the next morning, ate their complementary breakfast (eggs, sausage, fruit, yogurt & fixings, cereal, pancakes, waffles, assorted muffins/rolls, coffee, tea, juice, milk and more). We had booked our shuttle time the day before and once again Sam (driver) was ready and waiting for us 10 minutes prior to our scheduled time. He got us to our ship with plenty of time to spare. At the end of the second cruise, we were off the ship by 9:30 AM and called for a shuttle, Sam once again, was quick and courteous and had us back to the hotel by 10:00 AM. We were surprised that they even had a room ready for us and we checked in immediately. Being 'pros' on the local transit now, we headed out for a day of sight seeing in downtown LA and Hollywood Blvd. Overall, this hotel and location were great. We did have a problem our final morning, there had been a terrible wind storm and one of the boilers was damaged during the night, and lucky us, we were the first guests to get up and try to shower. No hot water! Because we were leaving so early, we couldn't take advantage of the breakfast (starts at 6:00 AM) or free shuttle to the airport (starts at 7:00 AM). I spoke to the front desk about the hot water issue and they courteously provided me with contact information to speak to the hotel manager regarding a discount on my stay for the inconvenience. We had the hotel call us as taxi, which showed up in less than 5 minutes, and were off the airport. I was able to reach the hotel manager two days later and he was easy to talk to and readily agreed to a discount on our stay. If we had to travel through Long Beach again, I would definitely consider staying again as the location and staff were great.

"Perfect Place to Stay Before Cruise"

We stayed here before our cruise. It was perfect for us. The property was clean and well kept. For our travel purpose, the grounds and atmosphere were just fine. The staff was friendly and gave us good directions on how to get dinner. The breakfast was pretty standard but it was nice to have before leaving for our ship in the morning. A few things to know if you choose this place. They don't offer airport pick up at all hours. Our flight came in after their pick up hours so we took a taxi. The pool is not luxurious by any means but we were not interested in sitting around the pool. When you check in, schedule your cruise port shuttle with them right away. We were fortunate to get the time we wanted but other cruisers had to be more flexible. There are not a lot of restaurant choices in the area. We called an Uber driver and went to the pier for dinner. It was worth it. I would certainly recommend this hotel and stay here again before a cruise.

This is our second cruise and second stay at this hotel in the past month. It is extremely convenient to have the shuttle available to transfer us from the LB Airport, downtown during the day and to the cruise ship and back. The staff was very friendly, professional, patient, prompt and accommodating with our group of 20. They made our vacation so much less stressful. I was certainly stay at this hotel again on our next trip to Long Beach.

Average room but clean and a little noisy being by the street and train. Staff was great. Shuttle to Cruise boat very good, Martin was a great driver. Complete breakfast was very good. Good bargain for parking your car while cruising.

We stayed here before our cruise and did the park and ride. The hotel was clean and modern. The shuttle service to and from the port was fabulous. It was so nice to not worry about leaving our car and not to have to find our way to the dock. Martin was an exceptional driver. Very friendly.

We had a great one night stay at this hotel, don't recommend for multiple nights unless you have a lot of things to keep you busy. The room was very clean, and the staff were nice. The fitness center sucks if you really like a good workout.

"Unloved Hotel needed some TLC"

I found it slightly frustrating staying here as the hotel is needing some improvements. It seems there are good management practises lacking in the running of the hotel. To be fair we only stayed one night, however we came down to breakfast to find the breakfast room rammed with more guests than there were spaces to sit. The coffee machine was right next to the food so there were people falling over each other to get breakfast. Having said that the rooms were clean and spacious so I couldn't fault the accomodation itself and they laid on a free shuttle to the port where we were sailing from the following day.

This hotel is smack dab in the middle of the Long Beach slums. Not only did my party not feel safe at the hotel, but our pizza delivery guy was shot at on his way to deliver our dinner. I notified the staff of the hotel as I felt it was something they should know about since it happened in the area - and they laughed. It was a decent room. Decent continental breakfast. Cheapest park and cruise package that I could find (which makes sense now).

My wife and I were going on a cruise and decided to stay at a hotel before we go on the cruise. We stayed at Best Westerns before and we're very pleased. We chose this Best Western because they didn't charge you for parking and it was close to some of the restaurants that we wanted to visit. The price was very reasonable. The neighborhood's not the best but it is safe. The pillows were very comfortable and so was the bed. The breakfast was good and well maintained. We also like the fact that were able to park long-term while we're on our cruise and they offer shuttle services.

"Hostile Manager"

We stayed at Best Western Long Beach on our way to a cruise. We arrived at approximately 10:30 p.m. When my daughter went to to take a shower she saw a giant roach in the bathtub. When she called the front desk to get our room changed the lady at reception asked "is it in the bathroom" as if she knew exactly where it was. When we went down to get new room key the manager was very HOSTILE !!! told us if we were dissatisfied and unhappy we should leave. He further stated "Everyone has roaches in their house, I do, you do she does" !! while screaming at the top of his lungs !!! He continuously pointed at the door telling us to leave. It was 10:30 pm. I was tempted to leave but had nowhere else to go that late at night. I was travelling with my two daughters and safety comes first no matter what! I decided to stay and hoped for the best !! Sleeping at night I was terrifying, I was truly afraid of the manager and what he could or may do to us at night, however I took a chance since it was so late at night. My job requires me to travel I usually stay at Best Western Hotels and this has never happened before !!! The following morning I mentioned this incident to the manager on shift he on the other hand was OUTSTANDING!! He was apologetic and made us feel welcome!! He offered to make situation better in anyway possible! He did !! However the night manager (Indian) was hostile, unprofessional, evil and abusive !!! This cannot be allowed !!! I will never stay here again !!!!

We have review the incident, seems like there was a misunderstanding. Front desk staff was trying to communicate that they will give you a full refund and you could check out if you were not satisfied with your stay or wanted to search alternative accommodations, unfortunately this was misinterpreted as us asking you to check out, we are taken the preventive steps to avoid this from happening again. I will personally make sure the two front desk staff get re-certified for customer service training. This was an isolated incident with the bathtub drain, as you can see from other reviews we are a clean a establishment with good customer service history. Once again thank you for bringing this up to our attention.

I lucked into this hotel through Hotwire, but believe that I will make it my place to stay when in the Long Beach area. Stayed over 1 night after a cruise and really enjoyed the location, staff and everything about the property. They offered transportation from the Carnival Cruise terminal to the hotel and the next morning from the hotel to the Long Beach Airport. The staff was excellent with information as well as with any request. The complimentary continental breakfast was so much more than continental. Great property, convenient to the Metro Rail and quite a value as well.

Selected this property for a quick two night business stay; wanted to be local to Long Beach Convention Center but avoid the cost of the big-name properties close to the bay. The BWLB is about ten blocks off Ocean Blvd but extremely easy to navigate to that area, and the restaurant district. The property is well kept, clean, attentive service, wide range of breakfast options, off street parking and comfortable rooms. No need to be concerned with the locale, great part of the local community, many families staying here, also noted that those going on a cruise can pre-cruise, park their car and leave, and return post-cruise, for what appeared to be a reasonable cost. BWLB presents a very viable value option without compromising quality or location. My kudos to the staff - if back in the area I would certainly stay here again.

I am over all happy with the hotel, would be happier if they would have given me the full discount they sent me via email. The rooms are big with plenty of space and a big open pool in case the weather condition allows to use that. Over all I would still recommend this hotel specially due to it's friendly service personell.

Whenever I cruise out of Long Beach, I always stay at this Best Western. They provide a very convenient shuttle to and from the cruise pier, parking the car is included. They also have a nice continental breakfast, and free WiFi. The rooms have been recently renovated as well.

We have stayed here many times it gets better and better every year, last year they did some remodeling to the rooms, I have noticed this year they changed entire room decor and bedding, I must say it was very beautiful, the service people at the front desk is very kind and hard working, owner who runs this place is always on top of his game, unlike other reviewers say surrounding areA getting better. Free shuttle to the port plus as we always leave our vehicle on site.

Only stayed 1 night before cruise. Helpful and courteous staff at check in. Large room with very comfortable bed and powerful shower. The room also has microwave, fridge, coffee maker and ironing board etc. There is coffee available at reception if you don't feel like making fresh. Hotel was clean, couple of stains on carpet but nothing to complain about. Breakfast was ok but a limited choice, waffle and pancake makers are good. Toast egg sausage cereal etc. One big negative is the use of plastic plates and cutlery, really hard to butter toast never mind cut into a waffle. Apart from that still good value for money

"They took care of us"

Unlike many hotels these guys took care of us with very good service. We got in early as our train arrived at 5:30 am it was around 9:30 when we got there. They stored our bags and then got us in a room early around 11:00. I have traveled quite often and been made to wait until 3:00 check in time (as if all the rooms are magically done at that time) not here as they take care of the customers. Thanks.

I would NOT recommend this hotel. Very old and run down. Honestly, it was scary and it is the bad part of town! It was smelly, the lobby was the most un-cheeriest lobby I've ever been in. The bathroom shower curtain was ripped and well as the blinds in the room....My whole experience was just awful. I wish i paid more money for a nice hotel than this dump.

We chose this hotel because they offered shuttle service for free from the airport for my friend and free shuttle to and from the port for cruising. While I was on the cruise they stored my car in a secure parking lot below the hotel. Eggs and sausage for breakfast with good coffee and name brand creamer. The price was right for all these services.The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Hotel is centrally located to everything. Our room was HUGE, king sized bed, desk, big bathroom. A little on the older side but comfortable. Parking is free! Overall our stay was good, comfortable and we would stay here again.

My sister booked a room for us in Long Beach the night before her grad ceremony. While we were initially thrown off by a tour bus taking up half the space in the driveway leading to underground parking, we enjoyed our stay. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The soda machine on the 2nd floor where our room was accepted my money but didn't dispense my beverage. The gentleman at the front desk refunded my money and advised of other machines. The 3rd floor machine worked fine. All of us had a quiet and comfortable sleep in the beds in our room. The bathroom was clean and had dispensers for all the soap, shampoo, and conditioner you would need. The next morning we grabbed some breakfast and the ladies who prepared the spread were very gracious so early in the morning. Hot foods, fruit, and cereals were available along with juice, milk, and coffee. Check out was easy and fast. And again, another super friendly desk clerk assisted us. I had scanned reviews on other sites about this hotel about how it seemed to be located in a bad neighborhood. This part of Long Beach is at the edge of what I consider an older, working class neighborhood right before you hit the fancy pants areas. I never felt unsafe, even when I went outside at night to have a cigarette in their smoking area. The metro line is right across the street but it was pretty quiet and uneventful whenever I was outside. If you're looking for a decently priced, clean room in Long Beach, then check into this Best Western.

Brian, Juan and Wendy at the front desk was courteous and helpful. The breakfast was everything you could want from eggs and waffles to danish, muffins and all the trimmings. The breakfast staff was attentive to everyone.

We didn't expect much to start but by the end of our trip we were glad we'd stayed. The hotel is ideally situated with the metro stop right outside the hotel (Pacific Coast Highway) taking you into LA and beyond or to downtown Long Beach for $1.75. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bedrooms were spacious and well appointed, large comfortable beds, microwave and fridge. Bathtub in the bathroom. There was a breakfast on offer (waffles, pancakes, yogurt, cereals, fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, toast as well as regular beverages) which was a surprise. The pool area was clean with plenty loungers, chairs etc. We asked for directions to visit The Queen Mary and were offered a lift on the shuttle bus. Likewise there is a shuttle to/from the port. Highly recommended.

Excellent customer service, we stayed for our Park and Cruise, which included the Shuttle ride to and from the Long Beach Cruise Terminal. The driver was a safe and careful driver, we were not packed in like sardines, we were very satisfied with overall everything.

"Comfortable motel, friendly and helpful staff"

This is a very comfortable no-nonsense hotel in the center of Long Beach, a couple of miles north of the waterfront. The Metro Blue line stops right outside and it will take you to the cruise ships, the ferry to Catalina, and the Aquarium of the Americas in minutes (and into LA if you catch it northbound). The staff is very friendly and courteous. Martin is very helpful and knowledgeable about all things related to Long Beach. There is a shuttle to and from Long Beach Airport if you arrange it in advance, and if you don't then the 176 bus runs on weekdays. You could spend a lot more to stay at a fancier hotel downtown, but this one is priced right with transportation to and from downtown all day long.

"Reasonable value & rooms"

Hotel was of reasonable cost and value. Staff were hospitable and morning breakfasts were good. Internet was fast and easily accessible. Parking was adequate and at no additional cost. Local neighborhood looked somewhat dodgy upon arrival, but the hotel room was secure and cameras monitored the premises.

Hotel staff was very friendly..room was clean but could smell odor of "pee". Good for one night .....but went across the street to get some munchies for the room and felt unsafe of my surroundings. Don't go out at night! It was nice having the shuttle to the convention center.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The rooms were large and very clean. Our room had a large fridge, microwave and coffee machine. The wifi was very quick and a good connection. The breakfast was a good selection and the pool was nice to use. The staff were very friendly and let us check in early. I'd recommend this hotel. It's in a bit of a run down area, lots of homeless people but we found this in all parts of la we visited and the local Pizza Hut has bullet proof screening protecting the staff but you're okay walking about during the day. It takes about 15 mins to walk to the beach area but the tram opposite the hotel takes you down there in a few stops. There's lots of local known eateries nearby and a local supermarket a few streets away.

"Low Frills but nice Hotel"

This hotel is our go too hotel when staying in Long Beach. It is about a mile and a half from the convention center, so too far to walk but a very short drive or you can take the rail that stops across the street. This hotel is usually at least $50 cheaper than the one closer to the convention center and you don't have to pay to park so it is worth the mile and a half to drive straight down Long Beach Blvd. We have always ended up in a room facing the pool which is nice and with the AC on we have never heard any street noise. The elevator is quite slow in the morning so we tend to take the elevator to breakfast and such. Breakfast is good and is served from 6:30-9:30 make your own pancakes and waffles,cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage yogurt, and pastries, coffee and juices. Kinda wish they had some fruit like bananas and oranges but pretty decent! Beds are comfy and the rooms have a mini-fridge and microwave so that comes in handy for longer stays. Not too many restaurants within walking distance but Long Beach has lots of places to eat if you can drive there... it may not look like it is in the best of neighborhoods but I have felt safe there.

I checked into this hotel a bit later in the night and stayed for a few hours because I was in the area for an interview so I didn't spend much time in the hotel. The hotel has plenty of parking under the hotel if you're driving and I didn't really notice much of what was around the hotel because I got in there so late. The lobby is large and I know they do have breakfast offered in the morning and I didn't stop by to check it out but it is nice that it was available. The front desk employee was very nice when I came in and was very helpful with questions and helping me get items I needed to borrow for a moment. I had a king size bedroom and the room itself was extremely large. The furniture seemed very dated though. There was plenty of space and a desk and chair in the corner of the room. The room was actually large enough where if I didn't turn on the light in the corner, it's seemed very dark. There is a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave in the room and the bathroom has enough room for two people to place items on the countertop. There were outlets right next to the bed built into the nightstand so that was pretty handy. The bed itself was not that comfortable from what I remember but it wasn't horrible. I didn't use the hotel Wi-Fi at all. The bathroom water pressure was very nice and the whole room seemed very clean. I did not check if there was a hotel gym or pool since I was not there for very long. The hotel seemed in a very busy area when I left in the morning and seemed to be near public transportation. It was not priced horribly and a decent place to stay. I would probably check out other places in the area to compare but if this is what you are considering, I would recommend it.

The hotel was perfect for my pre-cruise needs. They provide a complimentary shuttle from the airport, a continental breakfast in the dining area, and complimentary shuttle service to the cruise port. We will definitely return. The pool area is clean and secure, the staff is friendly and accomodating, and the location is a short cab taxi or Uber ride from shopping and dining.

Nice Best Western in a not-so-great neighborhood. But we felt safe and secure here. Great staff! The desk clerk carried our heavy bags up the stairs since the elevator was under repair. ( Fixed quickly I might add.) The beds were sooo comfy!!! Pillows, too! The breakfast was good with lots of variety. Decent sized breakfast room,too. Bathrooms were spotless. Very nice stay. I would stay here again before a cruise, as it is a good value and so close to the port.

Great people and amenities but when we went out at night to get a couple bottles of water and a bag of chips we bumped into folks walking around at night yelling at each other across the street. it was kinda comical but maybe we just aren't used to big cities

Had a double queen room which was a good size, comfy and clean. Unfortunately the lift wasn't working so had to carry two heavy cases up two flights of stairs but no help was offered. The lift was fixed the day after. We reserved the room on Bookings.com using my Thomas Cook US card. When I came to pay using it, they hotel said they couldn't take payment off it as it didn't have my name on even though I'd used it before at other Best Western and several hotels during this trip and it has my signature on the back. I offered to pay in cash but wanted a UK card. I refused due to the charges so in the end I was able to pay in cash and they take a swipe of my UK card in case of any damages (which there wasn't any). The fridge didn't work but was rectified although I had to ask three times for the receptionist to ask somebody to take a look. There was several car park spaces coned off on the ground floor car park, when we asked if we could park in one we were told we had to park in the basement as they were reserved for workers. These spaces were clearly reserved for staff or friends which is a bit out of order. There are plenty of spaces in the basement so not a problem but this did nark me a bit. Breakfast was ok and did the job. The hotel is about a mile and a half from the front of Long beach.

We apologize the elevator was not working at the time of your arrival, we had extra staff on duty to ensure all of our guest got assistance with luggage, in regards to the method of payment we require for the credit card and the ID or passport to match for our guest own security we do not process credit cards without names or if the credit card holder name do not match the identification provided at the counter. The parking lot is not reserved for friends and family, is hard to determinate how you came to this conclusion, the reason we ask you to park your vehicle in the basement while you are on your cruise is to be able to have control over how many park and cruise spaces we still have available, we thank you for taking the time to post a review regarding your stay with us.

The beds were very comfortable, pillows not so much. Good breakfast. I would stay here again. Like mentioned in other reviews, the neighborhood wasn't the greatest, but it felt secure. Walked down the street to eat at Taco King recommended by receptionist. Your other options are McDonalds, Pizza Hut and KFC. Staff very helpful. Van drivers good and courteous.

Stayed here before our cruise. It was ok for the one night as we did not have a car. They offer free shuttle to the cruise port that was handy. The rooms are a little old..but it was ok, we just slept there. The breakfast room was extremely busy and not set out that well for a large crowd. But we did manage to eat.. The front desk staff were very nice and could not be faulted.

We stayed in this hotel 1 night prior to our cruise out of Long Beach. We selected this hotel because of the park and cruise package. This hotel is located directly across from a Metro train stop. Our night's stay was fine, average hotel hotel room, adequate breakfast, prompt shuttle service. However, upon returning to the hotel we noticed our rental car had been dented in the underground parking lot. The staff seemed uninterested in helping us determine what happened and only directed us to a corporate telephone number.

We stayed at the Best Western one night before our cruise. The room was relatively clean and the complimentary breakfast was great. The highlight of our stay was the free shuttle ride to and from our cruise port. Made things ten times easier! Our driver, Martin, was great. He helped give us some nifty directions to get home to Tucson on the fastest route possible. We will definitely be back.

I visited Long Beach with my parents to see the Queen Mary and The Aquarium of the Pacific. This Hotel, was within a reasonable distance and at a good price. The Hotel was nice, the room clean, the staff friendly. The view from the room was nothing to write home about, but we were out and about town most of the time. If your on a different side of the hotel it may be better.

The hotel is right across the street from the metro station, which is probably the only bad thing. Other than that, once you are inside you would never guess that. Its very clean and modern inside. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating. I was staying there the night before I left on a cruise to get married. The room was extremely clean, especially the bathroom. I emphasize that because I cannot stand a dirty bathroom. I had to change my shuttle bus within 30 minutes of our leave due to my bridesmaids not being ready and they accommodated us without question. The breakfast was eggs, sausage, waffles, and your normal fruits and cereals. I like Best Western hotels and have noticed that through out the years they have stepped up their game but also still have affordable pricing.

"My Experience was AWFUL!"

As with most hotels BW of Long Beach made a fairly decent impression with a modern clean lobby. But that's where the love story ends. I was assigned room 402 on the top floor of this centrally located hotel. The elevator and hall were clean and well maintained. My room however was another matter. The first thing that I noticed was the smell, no STENCH, a cross between bad body odor and deep-seated bathroom plumbing problems which was so intrusive that it interrupted my sleep. Deep troubling stains on the sofa bed and fabric desk chair, a dysfunctional alarm clock, a red stain-splattered bathroom wall, a YUCKY toilet, a bed like a brick wall and an early morning in-house construction project made for a MISERABLE stay and for one EXHAUSTED traveller. I would have been more comfortable sleeping in my car. A 45-minute wipe down with disinfectant wipes and a dousing with Lysol spray did nothing to alleviate the smell or allay my fears that this room was just unsanitary. I would have changed rooms but it was late, I was pooped, I only had one night left, and frankly I just didn't have the energy to move to ANOTHER room and disinfect it as well. Someone somewhere in management, maintenance, housekeeping or elsewhere is falling down on the job here. Had someone at ANY point bothered to inquire about my stay, I would have been more than happy to share my observations and this review would have taken a different tone. But as it is the employees I encountered were robotic, simply going thru the motions and couldn't care less about my comfort or health. On the upside, there were plenty of outlets for electronic devices and the light pollution intrusion was minimal. But lock your car and don't walk barefooted on the carpet. This trip advisor advises DON'T!

Enjoyed staying at Best Western LB because the Best Western Convention Center had a two night stay requirement for online booking. Only needed use for overnight. The breakfast selections were ample, although seating was limited. I just grabbed an orange and tea.

We stayed as part of a stay and cruise special. The positives: clean room, nice staff. Negatives: horrible neighborhood. Not safe for walking a mile to dinner I the evening. We like to walk after traveling all day, so this was a bummer. Nothing very close by. Lobby furniture old and stained. Lobby bathroom was locked, had to get a key from the desk. I suppose this is due to the large homeless population of the neighborhood. Every store, neighborhood grocery and Walgreens had security both inside and in the parking lot.(yikes). The outdoor pool was right on the street. I did speak with a guest who had been here 4 days, she said everyday she had to ask for something, toilet paper, towels, etc. one day the room wasn't cleaned. When she asked, the response was, Oh, housekeeping left early today. I'm hoping my car will be safe here for 5 days. Again, nice sized room and clean.

My family stayed here the night before our cruise... We left our car there and got a shuttle service to the ship... Everything went easy and very smooth... They picked us up after the cruise and brought us back to the hotel where our car was safe the whole time... Our next cruise we will be staying here again....

"Quality Customer Service"

We had chose this hotel, because it was close to our event that we were attending 08-12-16 thru 08-14-16. Upon arrival their elevators were out of service. We were advised that our luggages will need to be carried up the stairs. Imagine 6 women and their multiple luggages, plus an overloaded food cooler.. "OMG not a pretty picture for the reps." Immediately the hotel reps attended to assist us WITHOUT any hesitation in getting our items to the second floor. Marco, Juan and Bayau and others staff members had a task that weekend, and did it with a smile. So very professional and friendly! Amazing is the best way to describe their work ethic during this stressful time. The staff was so friendly. Great place to stay,, Just need carpet in the cleaned a bit better. Over all we enjoyed the staff and the hotel!!!!!!!

We enjoyed our 2 day stay. The website photos and information are true. The hotel was easy to find and a perfect location for us. The room was clean, nice and comfortable. The mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave were a plus. Check - In and out were fast and easy. Breakfast was great, they have several options, we had waffles, eggs, and sausage but get there early to avoid a crowd. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was nice, personally my husband didn't like the shower head but it worked just fine and was no big deal. If you get there late, there is limited parking but they have lower level parking and we felt secure. We didn't need or use the couch in the room, it was clean but a bit worn. The hotel is fairly priced. We will return.

This was a great choice for my stay in Long Beach. The property is very nice and the surrounding area was better than expected. The included breakfast was great! Loved the waffle makers! Location is perfect too. Very close to the downtown area including the aquarium and Queen Mary. If I had to nit-pick about something, there was a strange smell in our room that we think was maybe coming from the air conditioner. The elevator was also having problems during our stay and we almost got stuck in it. But not a huge problem, it made out stay interesting!!

If you're looking for a good crash pad, then this is the place. I wouldn't consider this place for anything longterm. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were way to high for my laying posture. The one thing that was really dampened my experience there was the A/C unit. It was so loud! You knew when that unit kicked on and turned off. I've had many bad nights in hotel rooms, but this was one of my worst. The bathroom is yet to be desired also. On top of the terrible repainting job, the shower stall is a joke. Now...to be fair, it is handicap accessible, but the water from the shower just runs out onto three floor. And there's hardly any water pressure from the shower spigot. As long as you know it's just a crash pad and don't expect anything spectacular from the room, then you're good to go. Sleep well!

We recently stayed at the Best Western Long Beach. The room was large and had a very comfortable bed. The breakfast included was a huge perk and it wasn't just a run of the mill breakfast It was extensive with eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, granola, fruit, breads, muffins & pasteries and juice and coffee & tea. The area was large with lots of tables and there were two ladies constantly cleaning tables and refilling items. We were staying over prior to leaving on a cruise and Martin the shuttle driver was so helpful. He greeted us warmly, asked how are stay was and gave us a nice safe ride to the port. The following week we were being picked up from our cruise by another shuttle as we were going into Los Angeles and we ran into him as he was picking up others and he remembered us and came right over an asked how our cruise was. He told us if we were back in the area, they'd look forward to weloming us back at the Best Western Long Beach again. I would highly recommend this hotel. We had a great stay and it provides great value!!

Everything went very well. It was very clean, afforable and the staff was lovely. It appears that they were updating windows and furniture. Carpets were also being cleaned while there which impressed me. Beware not to venture outside the hotel as it is a less than desirable neighbour. Breakfast lacked fresh fruit options. Cookies in afternoon was a pleasant surprise.

"Pre-Cruise Crashpad"

Our family stayed prior to boarding the NCL Jewel in San Pedro port. Which is NOT to be confused with the Long Beach port. We got in too late to benefit from the airport shuttle since our flight arrived slightly after the 9pm cutoff. So we Uber'd it instead. Checked-in to our double bed room and got hungry soon after. There weren't many options for food in the vicinity, but we found a local taco shop that was open late and strolled over. I wouldn't recommend walking in the neighborhood if you're not familiar with the area or scare easily- our kids were jumpy, but maybe they were just tired from the plane ride. Across from the Metro Rail. Free breakfast in the morning. Reliable WiFi. Courteous shuttle driver to port. I'd stay again.

"Pre-Carnival Imagination in Long Beach"

We as a group traveled in a Carnival Cruise in Mexico. We choose The West Western hotel because of it's name. It was nice, presented it well. Meet our basic expectations.I will come back on this kind of hotel if time allowed. Although I was not able to give my time to gym and pool. But it is great.

The hotel is conveniently located to the ocean front and California State University Long Beach. The staff is friendly. The beds are very comfortable although the pull-out beds in the sleeper couches are very uncomfortable.

4 floors with underground parking available at no cost. Breakfast was ok but have had better at Best Westerns. The breakfast room is isolated and lacks the full time attention of someone to keep the items full. Was really a problem the second morning with a tour bus that had stayed over night.

Staff were very helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. Breakfast in the morning was a great way to start the day! The rooms were clean a d quiet. Easy access to the queen Mary and to local freeways. Defiantly will be a repeat costumer. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was an excellent choice. Very clean, centrally located and all the amentiies were great. The rooms were great. The breakfast was always perfectly prepared. Very nice staff. The place was very quiet with nice views from our room of Signal Hill and Long Beach.

I like this hotel. It has very comfotable beds, nice rooms, a nice breakfast, and cookies! There's also a pool and nice little workout room. The staff is friendly and efficient. My check in and check out went quickly.

"Gem in the rough"

High quality, clean, ritzy hotel placed in a ghetto, lots of vagrants in the area but couldn't tell unless you left the grounds. Everything with hotel was excellent, comfy and luxury rooms, great breakfast with eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles, fruit, yogurt . big enough area to eat in, Host was real busoy trying to keep all items full. breakfast bar needs to be longer.

Traveling with family for a cruise. The hotel staff was excellent throughout the stay. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Rooms and bathrooms remodeled and current. All the amenities were there. Lots of food at the free breakfast that they kept restocking. Ease of getting to/from the cruise port by their friendly staff (Martin). Great to know our vehicle was in a secured parking garage while out on our cruise. I will definitely use them again and will recommend to others. A big thank you to Best Western of Long Beach!

This was hands down the best customer service I have ever received in a hotel! The facility was nice and close to the convention center, the shuttle service was wonderful and convenient. Between the free shuttle, continental breakfast, and free parking, we saved so much over our friends staying in the high end hotels downtown. They were all jealous of our deals. Martin took great care of us, and I would definitely stay here again!!

This is the second year we have stayed at the Best Western Long Beach for a Snooze and Cruise package. We had a great experience and will continue to use them for our annual vacation. The room is nice, price is reasonable, and most importantly they are prompt about getting you to the cruise terminal and picking you up after. Out driver for the past two years has been Martin and he is courteous, prompt, and helpful.

Staying at the Long Beach Best Western was a good choice as it was a good location, clean, great service, friendly staff, shuttle service to the cruise ship docks and a good breakfast. Although there was construction being carried out in the building it was still quiet and a good place to stay.

We stayed at the Best Western of Long Beach for our honeymoon trip to our cruise on Jan 10 2016. I was a lil nervous upon reading reviews of all the construction that was taking place. We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the hotel. Our room was spacious and had a sofa bed to accommodate our luggage ?? it's perfect for a weekend stay for a cruise. The only 2 issues I had was the faint smell of paint on the 3rd floor and the toilets are very slow. It took a full 4 minutes for it to fill back up. Not sure if that's related to construction but I hope that is fixed when we will be back in October for our next cruise. The hotel does offer a cruise and park special in which we took advantage of. They shuttled us to our port and made sure we booked our ride as soon as we checked in. The breakfast was good busy but good. All in all perfect for a park and cruise or weekend stay!

The room was ok. Carpet had stains and was dirty. Lobby was not like pictures on line reflected at all. Ok for a one night stop type of thing but not for more days. Front desk per personnel kind of dry.

We just arrived on an international flight. Front desk was amazing,y helpful and gave us an earlier check I which we were greatful for. Rooms were clean and beds comfy. We loved the shuttle bus that took us to local places, drivers wee very helpful. Breakfast was good but get in early room fills up fast. We also liked the laundry facilities. Not the best neighbour hood to be walking in with a young family but once inside we felt safe and getting around was easy by shuttle, there is however a train stop right across the road for the more adventurous.

The rooms were clean, free parking, and complimentary hot breakfast each morning. The price was reasonable, especially over the holiday weekend. There's an la metro stop right in front which is convenient to take to either downtown long beach or downtown la.

This is a great location to "Park and Cruise" they offer underground parking for your car while you are on your cruise, and the accommodations are exactly what you need. Its clean, they offer breakfast, and modern. It was nothing over the top and just perfect for a one night stay prior to my cruise departure. I would stay here again.

The hotel was very average. The lobby was a bit in disarray due to remodeling and the elevator was not operational at check out time. The location of the hotel is in a very sketchy part of town. One of the poorest Best Western hotels I have stayed at.

We are located 2 miles away from the Long Beach waterfront where you can find over 60 restaurants, bars and a newly open outlet center, along with Shore Line Village for local stores and the Marina, while staying in Long Beach you could take whale watching tours, visit a Russian submarine and the Historic Queen Mary also a great way to spend time is the Aquarium of the Pacific.

Great place. Quiet. The pool was nice. The bed very soft. They left air conditioner on while we were away so when we got back to our motel it was nice and cool. The only bad thing is that they tried to give us w beds instead of one. I suggest u bring a copy of all your preferred amenities.

I knew the hotel was not going to be in the best location due to reading the other reviews. However we booked anyways, because the price was right. The staff was very friendly! No problems or issues there. The hotel consist of mainly party, college, younger people. ( we were there on a tuesday and Wednesday) which we were fine with because our use of the hotel was only for sleep. Stayed on the 3rd floor and did get a smell of weed throughout the floor. Our room was perfect! Great size, Super clean, and everything worked. Comfy beds *the first night* Oh geez the laundry. The washer and dryer did work I used them, but the location of the guest laundry is in the garage, literally. See pics. Parking is a nightmare. If you have a larger vehicle good luck. We had a large SUV and it was hard to find a spot. There is not enough to go around. Breakfast was surprisingly good. They had eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit, variety of pastries, cereal,oatmeal, yougart, juice, and coffee. *the second night power out issue* on Wednesday night at 9pm the power went out for many hours. Hotel front desk said it would be back on at 11pm, that did not happen. We were traveling with small kids and my poor babies were hot and uncomfortable in the dark room at midnight. It was not the hotels fault, just a mishap that the location of the hotel would have part in. The staff was friendly and professional trying to handle the situation, but it was really out of their control. Overall I would stay again if needed, and without my kids.

Got in early from our cruise. No rooms available at the time. Left our name and number with the front desk and they had a room ready by the time we were done with lunch. Awesome! The neighborhood surrounding the hotel might make some question their safety. But. We had none of those feelings at all. After you get over that. You learn the area has a lot to offer. Good food for reasonable prices and all kinds of value stores in the area. The rooms were clean. The hotel staff was nice and we'd stay again and recommend it to others.

"Stopover in LA"

After nearly 2 weeks travelling around California we booked into this hotel in Long Beach. Staff were so helpful couldn't do enough for us. Helped us get tickets to Universal Studios organised a taxi etc. Didn't get to see much of Long Beach as we went to LA and universal. Hollywood was OK but the main strip is full of tacky shops and ticket touts but the kids wanted to say they had been to Hollywood Boulevard.

"Terrible location"

I booked a room through Hotwire's Hot rate, the hotel was not disclosed but was rated a 3 star at a good price but when we arrived we found it was barely a 2 star hotel in the worst location ever, it was an unsafe crime ridden area. No wonder this hotel was not disclosed upfront, no one would stay here. We would not allow our kids out of the room unsupervised due to the nasty area with vagrants wondering the parking lot looking like drug deals going down with no police presence and no security measures since the parking lot gate was not working and remained open the entire time allowing anyone to enter the hotel from the back lot right into the elevators and direct access to the guest rooms. I is located across the street from the train platform for easy access into the hotel. Guests would never risk walking around here. The rooms were a 2 star motel equivalent, it was a run down property that should never have been presented as a 3 star level. Very disappointed stay.

"I Do Not Recommend BW of Long Beach"

If you are planning on staying at BW of Long Beach before your cruise out of Port of Long Beach, I highly recommend that you stay somewhere else. The location is scary, our room looked like it had not been vacuumed in months. I was told we would get shuttled to the Port of Long Beach for our cruise and picked up when we returned from our cruise. When we checked into the hotel, we were told the hotel would not shuttle us because we did not pay for the cruise package. Beware, if you call ahead of time and ask for this service, the hotel will tell you they can shuttle you so they can get your business, then upon check-in they will tell you a different story, because we did not book with the hotel directly. We ended up paying for the 1 night hotel stay and to leave our vehicle at the Port of Long Beach. The only good thing I can say about our stay is that the breakfast was decent.

We have in place a policy to prevent instances as the one described about the carpet, we placed a courtesy call to your room to ask if you have any input or request and it was not reported at the time making us believe everything is up to standards. The hotel does have a park and cruise package that limited to 10 per day and it would have to be booked at the time of making the reservation and is only available directly at hotel, when you asked if the shuttle service to the cruise port was available we advised you we do have the shuttle to cruise port, you could not take the shuttle as you did not have purchased a park and cruise package and you had to take your car to the port.

missed the exit and ended up on an alley on side of hotel which was scary but once inside it felt safe. Never had to go through that alley again...thank goodness. Not bad for a pre night cruise hotel that includes parking while on cruise and a shuttle to and from pier. Employees were nice :)

The front desk guy was rude. The room was clean. No rollaway beds, so don't bother asking. The breakfast was okay, not great, but not terrible. Martin the shuttle driver was super helpful & nice. Overall, I've stayed in worse places. I'd stay again.

The room was nice large and very clean. As was the common areas. Check in was a bit tiring but I guess that is to be expected with a group. The parking is extremely tight so if you have a large vehicle proceed with caution. The hotel is surrounded by a less than desirable neighborhood but is minutes away from all the fun spots in Long Beach, CA

Stayed at this hotel as a pre-stage for the cruise. Erika and Martin were great as hosts for the stay. This included in the price of the room was parking our car in the garage and shuttle service to cruise line. Breakfast was excellent also. The restaurants in the area are local based but we called in pizza and wings from the Big E and it filled us. Oh yes there was 12 of us. Some of the younger (less than 40 yrs old) hopped the trolley and went to Long Beach bar crawl area and they said they had a good time. And the oddest thing was that the magnetic key worked on the first try and during the entire stay. Rarely does that happen in any hotel

While definitely not in the best neighborhood, it does provide free off-street parking. There are no restaurants in the immediate area except for fast food. When I inquired information on near-by restaurants, other than fast food; the desk clerk could only recommend going down to the entertainment district near the convention center. The beds were comfortable and I heard no traffic noise. The tub shower has no shelf for soap or shampoo, an unusual omission I never encountered before. Overall an acceptable hotel, but I will probably pay more for nicer accomodations and location in the future.

I was happy with the value / price point on the BWLB. EXCEPT for "E," the staff was super friendly and sweet. My son left his dress pants in the room, and E was really unprofessional about helping us find them. When we called back in the morning, the person on the desk dropped what she was doing, went to lost and found, and verified that the pants were there. Free wireless, good coffee & breakfast buffet, two minute walk to the waterfront, covered parking...

Everywhere I looked in our room and the hotel there were problems. The carpet was peeling up and torn in many places, there was a huge stain next to the bed that looked like it could be blood, the wallpaper was falling off (in our bathroom there was mold on the wallpaper by the sink), it smelled bad everywhere except in the lobby, out bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable as were the pillows. Maybe we just got assigned a bad room, but I will not be giving this hotel another chance. The only redeeming grace was that breakfast was offered and as tolerable as most places that offer it, and they had a free airport shuttle. The front desk staff was pleasant enough, but the hotel overall is not worth what we paid for it. Not worth more than $50 a night in my opinion. VERY disappointed in this BW location.

Hotel was nice and clean. The people super nice. We stayed here for two nites while waiting for our cruise ship. It was easy to get around and we walked around long beach quite easily. Great place to stay if you have a couple of days to stay before your cruise ship leaves.

Rooms are nice and spacious, seems to be clean enough. Bed is bad. Front desk people are nice. Free parking, free wifi and free breakfast. Remember free doesn't mean good quality. Wifi is slow, breakfast is ok. I ll stay here again If I get an awesome deal or I wont bother.

I've been staying at the BW of Long Beach now, for about 4 years. I try to come at least twice a year, 'cause I love Long Beach. I have stayed at this Best Western each time, and have introduced two friends to it as well. They have both been happy here. True, it's not in the fanciest part of town, but I've walked around the area both day and early evening, without any problem. There is a Metro station across the street, and access to 3 bus' going downtown on Long Beach Blvd as well as several other bus' going to many other areas. They are safe as well as inexpensive. Try living like a local, instead of a tourist! Staff is great, and they respond quickly if you let them know there is a problem.

This should be barely be hanging on to Best Western title, as it was NOT what I am accustom to as a Best Western Plus traveler. It was run down, dirty, the elevator was broken, and there are only rooms on upper floors, none on the entry floor. It is across the street from a train station, so, there was that noise, and people of all kinds coming and going all hours. It is a not so good neighborhood, and the entrance because of the train tracks, is a pain to get to. The staff is nice, but the pillows (any anyone that follows my posts know that I am a pillow snob) are lumpy and old. The lowest the air conditioning is pre set to is 72, which could be warm in the summer. I like a cool room, and it was uncomfortable. I will not be going there again.

Great place to stay if you are going on a cruise ship. Secure parking while you are at sea and a shuttle to and from the pier. Also great breakfast and a friendly staff. A straight shot down the boulevard to downtown Long Beach.

The carpets were dirty. The hotel smelled like marijuana. If I could have found another hotel and not been charged for my stay I would have left...sleeping in your car would have been better. Would not recommend.

Please accept our sincere apologies we are saddened knowing you left the hotel unhappy, On Sunday May 15, 2016, we had one guest using Medical Cannabis on North end second floor, our staff responded to the report from another guest about the smell, the guest in question had a medical prescription and claimed to have the right of use, being a legal matter we pass it on to the local law enforcement to determinate the violation, guest understood it inconvenience other guest and stopped the used inside the room. We were extremely satisfied with the hotel, The continental breakfast was outstanding and everyone was nice. We would espetially like to mention Katherine on the front desk who went above and beyond to help us out. Also Martin head of housekeeping and sometime shuttle driver was most pleasant and helpful' We will be heading back to Long Beach next year for another cruise and this hotel will be top of our list to stay before and after our trip.

we picked this hotel because it was near the court house that we needed to be the next day. the hotel is not in a good area. you don't want to eat or walk outside of the hotel. the rooms are very nice and comfortable and the parking is safe.

This hotel is perfect! We arrived for our one night stay prior to our cruise leaving out of San Pedro. The hotel location is not perfect, it is up from the Long Beach area and on a main street, but the service was impeccable, they offer a area shuttle during the day, although we choose to walk to the Long Beach Boardwalk ( approx. 45 minute walk) So no need for taxi during the day, would recommend it at night if you are going to a restaurant on the Boardwalk ( Pier) The rooms where clean, the beds so comfortable. We where a large group travelling and they accommodated us in everyway. The pool area was clean and comfortable to spend the afternoon at. The complimentary breakfast was amazing, from waffles to scrambled eggs and sausages, cereals, and sweets, oatmeal and so much more. This hotel also offered complimentary shuttle service to the San Pedro pier, which many hotels in that area do not, for a large group as ours was it was the perfect place to stay. I would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend to any of my clients! Thank you so much to Marco Mendez and his wonderful team!

Stayed here one night because we like Best Western and it was close to the cruise port. The most comfortable bed we have ever slept on, quiet rooms and clean bathroom. Gas station/convenience store just across the street and a few other stores too. Good breakfast with delicious coffee and friendly staff. The shuttle to the cruise ship was full, we arrived late, around mid-night, and the schedule was nearly full but got there with plenty of time. They do have WiFi but we did not use it and the swimming pool was small but clean.

Pleasant stay, nice breakfast, and kept car safe while we cruised! There was a large group or us and it worked out nice. They shuttled us all. There were stores close by, but bars on window, so didn't know how safe the area was. But we didn't have any issues.

After much research this appeared to be the best value for our cruise out of Long Beach. A park and cruise package, shuttle to and from the cruise port and hot breakfast. All at a fair fare (FairFareTravel.com) The view was terrible but our room was HUGE. It included a "living" room with a nice TV and "hide-a-bed". The bedroom area also had a TV. Had some minor problems with room keys for 2 of the 3 rooms. There is a rail station directly out front. We didn't use it but I'm sure it could be helpful. The location seemed a little shady. But I did not feel unsafe. Parking is convenient and secure. The hot breakfast was very nice. And the dining room was a good size. Breakfast time could have been a little longer. The shuttle driver, Martin, was very helpful and professional.

We were going on a cruise and wanted someplace that would store our car during the cruise. BW of Long Beach did that, the price was right and there shuttle service to and from the Cruise Port was great. I highly recommend this hotel.

"Ok for over night stay."

On arrival at the hotel we couldn't find the entrance which cost me extra in cab fare. Very poorly marked. Breakfast was very crowded and no place to sit. We asked for a transfer to the cruise terminal the night of check in and was told to ask in the morning and everything would be OK. The next morning I went down early and all the early times were taken. If we were given a slot the night before we would have been Ok. I guess overall it was Ok for a night stay over between trips.

I have stayed with this Best Western on 5 occasions. Always a good experience. I have left my car there while on cruises and taken the shuttle, Martin drives the shuttle and is always helpful. The free breakfast offer several choices for hungry travelers. The dining area is clean and so are the rooms.

The hotel was nice, clean and helpful staff. One in particular was very nice. Shuttle driver Martin was very helpful with my family as my daughter is in a wheelchair and my wife suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. Very friendly and outgoing we had conversations to and from our vacation transportation. Very cautious and considerate driver. I would enjoy his skills any time we were staying with the facility.

I feel strongly that the hotel staff should be advising visitors of the location environment and that cabbing is recommended if going out at night. Although the quality of this Best Western was most satisfactory, and its location desirable, it is located in a very sketchy area of town. It is right across from the train station, which was convenient however there was homeless persons encountered on the way to catch the train and interesting persons at the station. During the day, using the train was fine and felt safe.

This hotel was not luxurious at all but the staff went above and beyond to make our stay great. They were so accommodating and friendly it was refreshing. The surrounding area is a little dicey but uber and cabs were a cheap 5 min ride to downtown.

The Best Western is in a very good location. They have a shuttle to and from the airport as well as the cruise and Catalina Boat Terminals. They have a park and fly package. The Metro Blue Line Rail is available (boarding is half a block away) One direction takes you to Downtown Long Beach where you can catch a free shuttle or the other direction you can travel to Los Angeles Union Station. I find this to be a very convenient place to stay. The hotel is dated, however comfortable, some rooms can be noisy if a party is going on in the hall behind. There are no nearby restaurants (eat before or have something delivered). They do offer a continental breakfast which is ok, it gets you moving in the morning. The staff has always been very helpful. We have stayed several times when we travel to Catalina. I do warn if you are expecting a really fancy hotel in a very nice neighborhood, this may not be for you, but if you are ok with comfortable and maybe some noise, you will be ok. I have had no problems when I have stayed here.

On our way to Catalina Island we needed a stop over. The Best Western of Long Beach provided an unexpected experience of friendly, helpful staff, along with support to and from our take off point. The food was simple but well prepared, the room was clean and well lighted. Overall we were provided with everything we needed at a fair and reasonable price.

although from the outside this property may look a little dated, the rooms are actually big and comfortable. The beds are comfortable, everything works fine and the breakfast offers eggs and sausage, along with yogurt, breads and waffles. There were lots of places around the property to eat and had access to most freeways.

Stayed a night with the extended family. There were 10 of us total so we ended up with joining rooms. Weird part #1 was the second room didn't have a door that lead to the hallway. I didn't do the check in so I can comment on that. The room itself was decent. We had two queen beds, a bathroom, little fridge, and a flat screen tv. We did have free wi-fi so that was a plus. The beds were a little too soft for my liking. It was comfortable but I would rather have something stiffer for my back. Weird part #2 was that the bathroom seemed to be made for shorter people. The sink and counter was extremely low. I'm not a giant or anything but my 3 yr old could almost reach the faucet. It was at a perfect setup for the other two kids, so who knows, maybe this was meant to be a kid's room or something. Even the toilet was super low to the ground. The shower looked kinda filthy so we ended up not using it. The was a lot of loud music coming from outside the hotel at late hours of the evening. I think someone was having a party or something next door. Overall I probably wouldn't stay again. Price was cheap so I guess you can't argue with that.

We stayed here when we were heading out on a cruise out of Long Beach. It was a cheap room and since we only needed it for one night it was not a horrible choice. The breakfast was not bad and they had a shuttle to the cruise terminal. It is located right across the street from a stop for the Blue line train.

We thought we'd spend the weekend on Catalina Island. But there were no hotel bargains and besides parking our car by the pier would have cost $20+ per day. So we discovered this hotel which provides free hotel parking and a shuttle service to and from the Queen Mary which we toured. From the hotel they also provided us a free shuttle to the Catalina Express boat pier and a day tripper adventure to Catalina and the shuttle was there upon our return to bring us back to our rooms. The rooms are spacious and clean. The neighbourhood is questionable. The hotel is undergoing renovations but the staff is very friendly and helpful.

This hotel has nice staff but did not inform anyone till they arrived that the hotel was under major construction. They said that on their website it said it will be under construction for 6 months. Also there is only 1 elevator for this whole hotel, fast but all the workers were using it too. Breakfast wasn't bad and they had yogurt, waffles, pancakes, oranges, red apples, sausage, eggs, bread, little muffins, cereal, coffee, and Apple/orange juice. My family and I stayed here for 5 days which construction was going on the whole time. The floors were being redone, hallways, walls, and rooms. Very dusty and noisy from 7 am - 6 pm. My companion has a cane and could not left his leg to get in and out of the elevator on the lobby floor. Had to go down to the garage and I had to drive down to pick him up. Not handicap friendly and noisy. Would not recommend this place.

The hotel is not a quality Best Western. It is very old and appears to be getting a face lift. which will not be enough to make this a nice hotel. The rooms are very out dated, the colors are from the '70s and the beds and pillows are uncomfortable. The bathroom counter is about 2 1/2 feet high. The hallways can be noisy and the two inch gap under the door doesn't help with noise control. The hotel is close to a twenty minute drive from the airport which doesn't make it real close. The hotel did not offer a computer to print loading passes. The 4 story building has one very slow elevator. It is often faster to take the stairs. I paid $120 for a king room which is way too much for the poor quality of the room and hotel.

The shuttle service was great. Staff is very responsive and friendly. They have free breakfast including make your own pancakes and waffles. They have a underground parking garage and outdoor pool. The room had a refrigerator and microwave.

"The best in this price range in Long Beach"

We stayed here for 9 nights and we had no complaints at all. We found staff to be very friendly and helpful and very accommodating, particularly on our last day when I ran into a bit of a problem, they really helped out. When we arrived, our bed seemed quite disheveled and I wondered if someone had sat or lay on it after it had been cleaned, or perhaps the maid that day was just not up to scratch. But all other nights, the bed was made well so it was obviously a once-off. Overall, the room was very clean and the daily maid service was good. We were on 4th floor, a quiet room on the end of the building. Our room was mostly renovated, perfect for our purposes, and very big with a lovely seating area as well as large desk. The bed was soft but surprisingly comfortable. The pillows were pretty poor (actually they were just tiny, slightly larger than a large cushion, and since only 4 were given, they barely covered the width of the bed). The shower and hot water was good. The car park always had room for our car, day and night. The coffee and fresh baked cookies in the lobby in the evenings was a nice homely touch and went down well with the husband. We didn't use the pool but looked down onto it from our room and it was very clean. The breakfast was basic and fine - standard for this room rate - but we only used it twice as we prefer to have muesli and tea in our room, which we could do since there was a fridge and coffee-maker. The breakfast room was well attended by staff and kept clean and tidy which was a bonus. There is a computer and basic printer in the reception area which was handy for printing and gave us no trouble at all, very quick and easy and always logged on to the wifi. As for location, we don't have a problem with it. Other reviewers mention it's not a good area but we've been coming to Long Beach for many years and this area is fine. It's just not the trendy downtown area. I don't think it's particularly unsafe. The light rail/ train station right outside the front door of the hotel is a big bonus and saves parking fees downtown. The gym is equipped with treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike and a weights machine so it covers the basics and was fine for our stay. We've stayed in a few other hotels in Long Beach for similar room rate or similar, and we found this one to be the best value for the rate. We've never gone back to the others, but we will come back to this one.

Stay and sail very convenient. You stay 1 night and you can park your car for the whole week. Free Breakfast very good. Shuttle to and from the Carnival terminal very good. Location very convenient to some great restaurants right on the harbor

We would highly recommend this hotel for a number of reasons; but if you are cruising out of the Long Beach port, you can't beat the package that the Long Beach Best Western offers. In addition, the bedding is superb; the continental breakfast was the best we have ever had anywhere in the U.S. in decades and Martin, our driver from the pier, was so helpful and knowledgeable in guiding us to a better way to get to Highway 10 towards Arizona. The entire staff that we dealt with was so friendly, helpful and really great people. Five stars from us!!!!!

I checked in early and staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a seedy location but I was only there for one night since I was attending an event at the Long Beach Convention Center. It is a simple 8 minute drive down Long Beach Blvd to get there. Parking was free at the hotel. My hotel room was very clean and large -bed was comfortable-shower was first-rate. TV and Wi/fi worked great. Breakfast was included in the price. Lots of options for breakfast -pancakes, waffles, muffins, toast, cereal, eggs and sausage, fruit, yogurt, etc. and decent quality. I wouldn't walk around there by myself after dark but as a place to sleep and have breakfast, it was great.

We arrived at the hotel in the evening and learned that we had accidentally made a reservation for the previous night instead of the night we arrived. The staff were very accommodating and were able to find a room for us at no extra charge. We were very thankful since the hotel was almost sold out. Thank you Best Western of Long Beach! We spent two nights, enjoyed the breakfast each morning, and then were taken to our cruise and picked up by Best Western's shuttle van. The parking is indoors and very efficient in the delivery and pickup. We would utilize them again. The hotel is being remodeled, and in a few months will look like new on the inside!

Best Western is located close to Long Beach Blvd and PCH just next to a train station. The surrounding doesnt look very great but the hotel is pretty neat and provides comfortable stay for a couple. They have a good covered parking, which is very assuring for the area. The complimentary breakfast was good.

We stayed here one night before our cruise. The staff makes this hotel, they are very helpful, efficient and kind. The hotel rooms themselves need work, but they are clean. The complimentary shuttle to the cruise was awesome, very helpful. The staff gave us a call when the shuttle arrived 5 minutes earlier than expected and simply said. cable channels were good, good location, and I had to extend my stay and it was not a problem. Nice selection at breakfast. The staff was accommodating if you needed it, otherwise they left you alone. There is a shuttle that you can take to the Long Beach Harbor, though I had a rent a car it was still nice to know it was there.

Great personal, nice rooms and you wont leave hungry. Don't forget to have a meal at "king taco" for authentic Mexican food, just a 2 min walk from the hotel. The shuttle service was prompt, & very safe driver.

Seven of us stayed at two rooms at this hotel in Long Beach. We were treated very well and breakfast was plentiful and a lot of variety. We booked on Booking .com and it had stated a free shuttle from the airport. Unfortunately hotel only does shuttle until 5 PM and our flight got in at 8:45 so we had to pay $65 for a shuttle to the hotel. That was not Best westerns fault though. The hotel gives free shuttles, to the cruiseport and return. Just make sure you sign up for times to get picked up when you register at the desk. All in al as my heading states this hotel was a good Best Western. We especially had good service from Juan (at the desk) and Marco and Mike.

"Good place to keep the car while we cruised"

This was my second visit to the Best Western of Long Beach to take advantage of the package to leave the car there while we went on a cruise. Overall, it's probably along the same level as most other Best Western Hotels. I don't like trying to drive from Las Vegas to Long Beach on the day of a cruise, so it's a good place to stay the night before sailing. I feel that the car is secure in their parking garage. Martin is the shuttle driver, and he's great! He was very helpful with my elderly father to make sure he was able to get in and out of the van. I'd definitely rather have Martin drive us to the cruise terminal and explain where to go and what to do than to ry to figure it out myself.

First time in here best western. It is quite impress me. Room is nice and clean. Complimentary shuttle to convention centre. Staffs here are nice and friendly. They are professional and do their job right and perfect. Especially the front desk Brian, Ryan, Juan and Marco. For the price vs what I get. Excellent service and two thumbs up are all I can say. Highly recommend. Keith

"Despite power failure good experience"

We arrived back to the hotel after dinner to find the property in darkness due to an area wide power failure. Power stayed off for 12 hours. Stairways had no emergency lighting. Thank goodness we had a iPhone to provide room light as the front desk had nothing to offer. Our cruise was delayed for 1/2 day due to the same wind storm. Hotel management graciously allowed us to keep our room until 10pm at no extra charge and offered a small discount on the rate. This kind gesture made up for a less than comfortable stay.

The fitness room was great! The staff is so helpful and professional. Martin the housekeeping supervisor and shuttle driver was the most friendly, willing to help with directions, and customize our group's needs on where to drop us off at the convention center. Would come back again because of the service he performed and the easy transportation to and from the convention center.

great stay especially if you going on a cruise ship out of long beach...great airport transfers beds were soft and staff was pleasant. pool was clean, what more can I say , they has some construction, however it didn't bother us.

The room was filthy, stained sheets, no other rooms available slept with my clothes on. Power outrage no emergency lights for hallway, staff had no flash lights. Moved next day room was acceptable. This was a business trip 2 other associates also stated rooms were not that clean. Staff were OK, exterior and pool were OK. Not a safe location at night, train station across the street loud clanging bell.

Well maintained. Not a lot of choices for eating in immediate area. In door parking and shuttle to cruise lines. Service was very good and breakfast was great. A good value. Area is a little intimidating but didn't have any issues while out at night. Fast food in area but no real good restaurant close by. Need to take a cab or drive if you are looking to go out to eat.

I stayed at Long Beach Best Western for 2 nights in January 2016. Highlights - 1) Clean remodeled rooms 2) Comfortable beds 3) Amazing breakfast 4) Friendly staff\\ 5) Close to DTLB. I highly recommend this hotel to other travellers.

I stayed at the Best Western of Long Beach for 3 nights during Christmas and New Year. I had an amazing experience. The rooms are spacious, the beds are super comfortable and the staff is warm & friendly. They recently changed their carpets, so the rooms have a fresh & new feeling. The hotel is within 5 mins of tons of bars/restaurants and shopping area in Downtown Long beach. On one of the nights, i had a really bad headache and was looking around for a pill. The hotel manager - Mike helped me out with some Tylenol and I thought it was very nice of him to do so. They have free breakfast and are very generous with their spread. I would go back to this hotel if I was ever in LB area

The hotel is a little run down and in a rough part of town. However, they are remodeling so it will surely help. My kids liked the heated pool in January. Too cold for me but not them. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was good enough. No roll away beds here. They just don't do them.

I do not understand how this hotel even is open. We booked this hotel through Southwest Airlines and when we arrived there was no electricity and no information about when it would be restored. There were other guests in the parking lot with their luggage. We cancelled our reservation immediately after a look at the neighborhood where the hotel is located. If you do not mind staying in a place without even the basic electricity or water but which has plenty of prostitutes and pimps roaming the streets around the hotel, then this is the place for you. Otherwise avoid this hotel completely.

The hotel was nice and clean. Associates were professional and helpful. However, I was in a non-smoking room, but I am not sure if I was on a non-smoking floor. The 4th floor smells like smoke. I stayed 2 nights for a conference and needed a ride to the convention center. I used the hotel's shuttle service. Martin is both the housekeeper supervisor and shuttle driver. He was very nice and professional. He asked about my stay, if my guest room needed anything, and explained the shuttle operating hours. My check-in and check-out went smoothly. I did not get to try their breakfast because the room is small and crowded. So get there early if you need to get going and want to eat first. Other guests were not considerate that other people were waiting to eat and sat around like they were at a restaurant. So I ended up leaving after 30 minutes of waiting and bought breakfast at the conference.

We bought one night in advance of NCL cruise. Was told at airport by Officer not to leave Hotel at night due to risky area. We were okay with that and just wanted a clean room and good nights sleep. Got to Hotel and into room. Room had multiple stains on carpet and a smell to the room. The worst part was when we pulled back the covers on the bed it was obvious sheets had not been changed from previous gust (stain). We called and got a new set of sheets which we had to put on. Nothing could be done about the other stuff. We are not fussy people. Just felt the room was not as advertised and needed to be updated and most importantly cleaned. Only good thing about this place was the shuttle from airport and shuttle to cruise.

After a terrible stay in Anaheim Best Western. This place has the best beds. We only stayed one night but it was a great nights sleep. They picked us up from the Long Beach airport and dropped us off the next day at the Sea port (they go to both Long Beach and San Pedro). Book direct with the hotel we did then found a cheaper rate with room key and they did not want to give us a room until I spoke to the Manager. He was awesome

I stayed in this hotel prior to taking a cruise, so the location was great for that. The room was worn looking with a torn lampshade and stained carpet, but it was comfortable enough. I would not recommend a room by the elevators, because it was noisy in the halls, and being farther away would probably help. The breakfast was very good with a wide selection and hot food as well as cold. The staff was friendly, but informed me that the shuttle to the San Pedro pier would cost me, in spite of the fact that I had called ahead of time and they told me the shuttle was free. This is fine for a short stay but I wouldn't stay more than a night or two.

It was a good place to stay as the train stopped right outside and would take you closer to the action. Breakfast was ordinary as our many American continental breakfasts. Room was comfortable as you would expect.

Overnighted before getting one a cruise. Martin shuttled us downtown and was very helpful in showing options to eat at and how to get back to the hotel on the train. Not really any place to eat close to the property so you need to go downtown or to the waterfront to eat. Price was good. Hotel was very clean, room was clean and a good complimentary breakfast.

On the website, it says free shuttle service to the cruise terminal. Not! The hotel wants to charge $10 person. If you are taking a cruise and didn't book it directly with Best Western, they won't let you park at their garage even you offered to pay to park at the hotel and take the shuttle to the cruise terminal. I was told long term parking and free shuttle service to the terminal doesn't apply if you didn't book for a cruise staying package directly from Best Western. How would anyone know that if it was not disclosed on any of the websites when you book your hotel online like Travelocity, Expedia, Travelocity, etc.... and took the misleading information for FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE TO CRUISE TERMINAL AND FREE PARKING?

We stayed at this Best Western because they will shuttle you to the cruise ship. We were shocked at how nice the room was, and the breakfast a nice bonus. Our shuttle driver Martin was great . We called to be picked up and he was prompt, courteous, and very friendly.

My husband and I stayed here before going on a cruise. It was roomy and clean, and the bed was comfy. I had a tough time sleeping only because the pillows were too big. I'm sorry I didn't bring my own pillow. It wasn't in the best neighborhood since we like walking but it was fine. When we first went to our room I noticed the housekeepers put a door stop in the rooms they had just cleaned, I suppose. Anyway, I put the key in and noticed someone was in our room. I apologized and quickly closed the door, thinking they accidentally gave us the wrong room key. The people came out immediately and said they may have gone into the wrong room. They said the door was ajar (as mentioned before) and thought that was their room. We got a housekeeper to replace the towels because they were used. I just think it's not good practice to leave the doors open like that.

We stayed in the two room 4 queen bed room and our family of 5 had plenty of room to spread out. Beds were comfy and dark - great for sleeping! It was quiet. Breakfast was ok, showers were hot. Front desk friendly. Overall good stay .

Chose for "cruise and stay" option as we were taking cruise for Christmas. Was hopeful when I saw exterior, hopes plummeted when I checked in. Although numerous signs indicated "under construction," hotel was dirty and poorly maintained. Huffy check in staff when I rejected initial room due to peeling wall paper, dated furnishings, overall appearance, only to see other room was in similar condition. Property did not warrant price charged. Seedy feel to location; felt unsafe walking with husband to corner store.

The Hotel was going trough remodeling; the breakfast was terrible. No utensils, to pick up the food with, had to use your hands. I have stayed at many BW hotels and this one was in the lower class. Most of BWs breakfasts are really good, except this Hotel.

I STAYED HERE AS the closest to the convention center available at the last minute for a conference at the convention center. Room was clean and confortable, shuttle took me to and from the convention center. Leos was the driver and also manages several operations at the hotel, very friendly and courteous. He was helpful and recommended a place to eat that was excellant. i would recommend to any needing a bit of economy in there stay, but clean and nice. I WOULD RECOMMEND FOR ALL AS AN ALTERNATIVE. Price was very reasonable and parking was safe.

We stayed at this hotel one night before our cruise out of Long Beach and it was perfect for what we needed. Excellent location and the staff was very nice. The shuttle to and from the port made our trip so relaxing and our car was kept safe in the underground garage. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

We stayed here one night to take advantage of the stay and park option as we were taking a 7 day cruise from Long beach. Nice room, good service, breakfast okay...area hotel located, not so good. The delivery to LB terminal and pick up was very smooth.

My husband and I recently stayed here one night prior to our Carnival cruise out of the Long Beach cruise terminal. We opted for the park and cruise package. With this we were able to leave our car here in a secure parking lot while we went on our cruise. The hotel provided shuttle service to and from the cruise terminal. We arrived to the hotel late at night. Around midnight. The hotel is not in the best area so I would have felt better arriving during the day. Plus, google maps decided to tell us to turn down Palmer Court to get to the hotel. Don't go this way! Get to the hotel from Long Beach Blvd. We weren't sure where to go with our car because the parking was gated, but when we pulled up to the gate it opened. We parked down in the basement. Small spaces, but not terrible. Check in was easy and the staff were pleasant. We ended up with their two room suite. That was a nice perk, but unfortunately we couldn't take much advantage of it because the time. The room was very large and clean. Basically a living room and a bedroom. A TV in each room. There was also a sink, fridge, and microwave. The bathroom had the usual toiletries you find at hotels. They offer free breakfast in the morning. The only downside was it ended at 9:30AM. Because of our late check in we weren't able to get up and ready early enough to try it. I wish it would have stayed open until 10AM. The shuttle service was excellent. When we checked in they notified us the available times for the shuttle. The shuttle was ready the next morning and the driver loaded up our luggage. We went with other people going to the same cruise terminal. After our cruise I called the hotel and let them know we were ready to be picked up. A short wait later the shuttle driver was there to get us. A very easy and nice process. Same shuttle driver from the night before. Nice guy.

Hotel staff courteous - rooms were large, clean and nicely decorated. Shuttle offered to cruise ship. Had outside pool. Breakfast room offered a great light breakfast and fruit. Hot and cold foods as well as fruit. Stores within walking distance and train stop right outside. Would stay here again.

Originally we'd intended to stay Sunday night and leave early Monday morning on a cruise ship – until we got stuck at work all night and missed our check in. When we rolled into the hotel at EIGHT AM – they were kind enough to let us sleep past the check-out time so we could rest before boarding our ship. Very kind people.

Best Western Long Beach offers a great sleep and park package when cruising out of Long Beach or San Pedro. The hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There is also free breakfast in the morning. The neighborhood is not the best but if you use the park and cruise option parking is safely underground in a clean well lit garage. The shuttle drivers are very prompt and courteous. On our recent stay there was some remodeling taking place. Looking forward to seeing the upgrades on our next visit.

I was truly impressed as this was my first time visiting. The facilities were clean, the staff were very helpful and friendly. I loved the large rooms and large bathrooms. They facilities were very impressive to say the least. The continental breakfast was great and there was plenty of variety, delicious. I look forward to visiting again.

Nice, clean, don't take a room to the front of the Hotel, you have the noise of the train, and the street traffic. Cant be out walking when the sun goes down to many homeless on the street. Breakfast was good, and the staff was quick to clean any mess, the front desk was very helpful.

I stayed here a few years back and although my stay was pleasant the rooms were old and worn, carpets not in good shape.I was pleasantly surprised to to see the changes since then. I stayed in a lovely suite that was so nice I thought I was at a different hotel. The front desk clerks were very nice and helpful and I definitely will be stay here again since I cruise out of Long Beach once a year.

The employees are very pleasant and helpful. They are always smiling and ready to answer questions. We stayed 2 nights so that we could have a day to sightsee. On the day of the cruise we used the shuttle system from the hotel.. We left at our scheduled time and the driver was a really nice guy.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Room was ready early, which was a great help since we were turning in a car. We were going on a cruise, and the driver took us early. The only problem seemed to be a lack of luggage carts. I suspect people got them early and held on to them. Perhaps they should be scheduled, based upon departure times. All in all, a good stay.

After along day, our desk clerks were so nice and friendly that it made the day end great. We definitely will be staying there again! Living on a Island off the California coast, there are times that we need to stay overnight and this definitely made it better. We've tried to stay there before but it is always booked, so we new it was worth the try. Thanks again for a great stay.

Get an inside room away from the street / otherwise great place and breakfast was good. Lots of selection. Perfect for visiting of preping fro a cruise. Enjoyed the light rail right next to the place so you didn't have to use your car.

Just be aware that the train station is in front of this hotel and some of the homeless will be sleeping near the entrance of the hotel at night. We did not venture out at night. During check in we noticed that the door to the onsite parking was wide open and did not have any type of exclusion to hotel guests only.

Would be nice to have a full breakfast but was good anyway. Room was quiet but beds could use some warmer covers during the winter months. The key cards did not work. A worker came and fixed them within minutes of my bringing it to their attention. The man stayed to make sure I was able to get the door to open with both keys before he would leave them with me. They still had to be put in and out of the door multiple times before the door would unlock but I have that problem with every hotel.

We took advantage of the Park and Sail package - one night stay and left car in underground parking for 7 days. The room was good, clean, and quiet. The continental breakfast was much more than expected and the shuttle service to and from the cruise terminal was soooo easy. All this included in the one-night price! Cordial stall, clean facility, and car safe - good experience.

After a long journey warm and welcoming staff was like an oasis in the desert. Front desk was so helpful that I couldn't have asked for a better welcome. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was warm and gave us a great start everyday. Had a wonderful experience. Would recommend to everybody coming this side.

There are other options---look! Group of 8 ended up choosing this hotel, before departing on a cruise. Upon arrival, I noticed the guy at the front desk uniform was not presentable. Uniform had all type of flakes & white stuff on it. The rooms are soooooo old. Doors repainted, hallways drowning with air freshener (covering up a smell), furniture in room old, curtains dirty, bathroom towels no where near white & extremely dingy. I know the price may be cheaper than staying closer to the aquarium, spend the extra $ unless you can stay in a very basic hotel. Oh and I forgot to mention water in the shower didn't work & sink water had a foul smell.

The room was clean, spacious, and near all the places I needed to be. The hotel has a shuttle that will drop you off at the convention center, which is quite handy. The driver is pleasant and always open to having a nice conversation. Overall, if you are looking for a fine room at a reasonable rate that is close to destinations, this is a good choice.

We stayed here before going on a cruise in September. The hotel is very close to the pier. We found the room spacious and comfortable, no problem. The breakfast was nice and the breakfast room was very clean. We only drink decaf coffee and were quickly taken care of, with a smile. There was a problem with the vending machines the manager quickly took care of and we were very happy. The shuttle to the ship was quick and easy. The return driver Mario was very personable and gave us some great suggestions for activities in the area. We are cruising again in December and are going to stay again!

We stayed here for 1 week for my daughters wedding. Booked 1 King Business Room & a 2 double room suite. We were looking for an affordable room with good amenities & location was important. Would be ok for maybe 1 night or if you need a layover waiting to go on a cruise. Fairly affordable. Free parking, although if you return late at night, you are taking a chance of not getting a spot & may need to park on the main street. They only had 1 very outdated elevator that was so slow. None of the ice machines were working, but no signs on them either. I heard several guests complaining about both the elevator & ice machines. Each soda machine had a different price even though it was the exact same item, depending on which machine you tried. Breakfast was ok, but not what they advertise on their website. The room was clean, average. Has micro & fridge. The coffee maker was filthy. Looked like they never bother cleaning it, even though it's only used to heat water. The safe didn't work & we had issue with our AC but they promptly fixed them. The pool is small but ok for a quick dip or for tanning. No Jacuzzi. If you stay here be sure to get a room in the rear of motel. Even with the AC on we could hear the Metro train, which is right across the street, which is good if you need cheap transportation & the traffic gets noisy all day & night. They offer a free shuttle to the Downtown (limited hours) I believe every 1/2 hr. We didn't use it because we had a rental car. We had a view of an auto repair shop that looked more like a junk yard ! Our family's other room was in the rear of motel, view was of someone's yard. The neighborhood isn't the greatest. We did walk out at night. But NOT the greatest thing to do. If you need anything from housekeeping it's best if you speak Spanish or can use charades to ask for something. They were nice & helpful once they understood me. The desk staff was mostly so-so, although friendly. They don't have much to offer as far as the Long Beach area. They only had brochures on theme parks, Hollywood, things further away from the City. They weren't very helpful when asking info or for directions. Although we were very happy & impressed with Marco's help. I always hate reading reviews because it's hard to go by other people's opinions. Some are good & some are bad. I usually don't take them too seriously. This is the VERY 1st time I've ever written a review. I needed to warn others what's in store for them if they stay here. You can take your chances. I only wish I had spent a bit more money & gotten a motel closer to Downtown. Very Disappointed...we have stayed at Best Westerns before. Hate to say that this stay has changed my opinion of them :(

"This one was the worst"

Reserved 6 rooms 3 weeks before arriving and when we arrived they had cancelled all rooms without notifying us. They were rude and did not care. I spoke to management and his response was the same. We have always stayed at Best Western but never again at this one.

The hotel manager contacted the travel agency utilized to book this rooms as the credit card on file was invalid or fraudulent as per system error generated when trying to authorized the credit card, we received a phone number from travel agent for the guest who was not a valid number, per hotel policies if there is a valid credit card to establish credit for the rooms being held and manager cannot contact the guest and or obtain a valid credit card to guarantee the room reservations, the reservation in question is cancelled as the hotel will not hold rooms without valid payment, I apologize if I came across rude, my intentions were always to be helpful, at the same time I had to inform you of the hotel policies and procedures.

Had a brief but nice stay. Room was spacious and everything in order as you would expect! Had to cut my stay short for business reasons and the staff and management were more than accommodating in updating my reservation and refunding of my prepaid charges. I will definitely stay here again if my business brings me back

"not the nicest"

We recently visited my son in CA & stayed at Best Westerns for the entire time.This place had less than acceptable street appeal & the impressions went down from there.We only stayed fora quick sleep as we had a Catalina ferry trip booked in early am.The hallways were grungy.There was huge stain of questionable origin immediately outside our room.The refrigerator was not working & although the front desk promised someone would look at it no one ever came.I felt like I needed a shower after I checked out.On the positive side we seemed to contract no diseases or pestilence & the room was not expensive.Best Western really needs to be careful what they put their name on.All of the other BW's were far superior thank goodness.

"Not the best"

We probably stayed for all of 8 hours at the Best Western and that was plenty. We checked in late in the evening and had to park in their overflow lot. We had no one to help us with luggage so my husband had to trek across the street with bags in tow. Even though we were the only ones checking in at that hour, it seemed to take forever. When we got to our room, it was very musty. We immediately had to turn on the a/c to cool down the room and try to get rid of the smell. Otherwise, the room was a decent size, but very dated. For one night, it's OK. I wouldn't stay more than that though. This isn't the kind of place you want to park in for a week and visit the sites.

I love Best Westerns but I wouldn't stay at this one again. It was very outdated and almost felt dirty. My feet felt gross after walking around on the carpet. Staff wasn't overly friendly or helpful. A forgettable experience, thank God!

Best Western Long Beach was a great place to park our car while we went on our cruise. The staff was great and the room was clean and comfortable. We felt good that our car was in a secured parking lot while we were on our cruise.

First, I want to say that I was very pleased with the hotel itself. The staff was fantastic: friendly, attentive, and helpful with ideas of places to see in the area. The neighborhood around the hotel is not always the quietest: car alarms, barking dogs. I just turned my AC unit on for white noise, and most of this wasn't a problem. The hotel shuttle was a wonderful option for getting downtown for my conference. I didn't have to wait for a train or a cab, and the company was pleasant.

We stayed here the night before our cruise, and took advantage of the park-and-cruise package. The hotel, pool, and breakfast were all very nice. They also provide shuttle service to and from the cruise ship, which is included. Just a short walk to downtown, where we ate dinner that night. Also, they provide secure parking in an underground garage for up to 7 days while we were on the cruise. I felt that overall this was an excellent value.

My husband and I stayed here one night jut before our cruise with Carnival. Our room was lovely and very quiet considering the hotel was on a busy street. The hotel keeps the cars of people going on cruises which was very nice. They shuttled us to the cruise terminal in the morning and then picked us up when we got back. The only drawback was the "Elevator from Hell!" For whatever reason there was no air conditioning in the elevator, every time we used it we were stuffed in there with other people who were sweating up a storm. One poor couple we going to a wedding and they all dressed up and really uncomfortable. Other than that the hotel was nice and convenient.

This Best Western is in an older section of town directly across from a public transportation train stop. Not as nice as the hotel provided picture make it look. Good value but away from all of the Long Beach attractions.

Best Western of Long Beach is in a older section of town with a public train stop directly out the front of the hotel. Hotel is average nothing bad nothing great. Wish we would have looked more at the B/W at the convention center, it is within walking distance to many attractions while this one was not. This hotel was a better value so having never been to Long Beach we decided to take the better value

A good (somewhat dated) 3-star hotel, with clean, spacious and fairly quiet rooms (in the back, at least) although the A/C makes a bit of noise. The staff at the reception is friendly and courteous. Standard continental breakfast was included. The elevator might require a bit of patience, even when the hotel is not at full capacity, because it is very slow. The area around the hotel is not particularly well suited for walking (very isolated) but it is not scary unless you wander off. Besides, if you're staying here you'll be most likely driving everywhere anyway. The hotel has a gated garage and just enough parking spots for the guests. The location is practical to visit several sites of interest and the beach is a mere 10-minute drive away. I recommend as a good budget hotel if you can find a good deal. Not sure I would come with children though. Stayed August 2014, traveled solo

"Park & Cruise"

The service for "park & cruise" was great. Got us to the ship in a timely manner and picked us up quickly, did not have to wait long. The breakfast was good. The location is "iffy", I would not go out wandering around after dark. Felt comfortable leaving the car since they had good security.

"Overnight Stay before the Cruise"

This is an ideal hotel to stay before a Cruise. They provide free Shuttle service from the Airport as well as to the cruise terminal. Parking is available too. Excellent value for the money. Friendly and courteous staff. We would stay again in the future and would be glad to recommend to friends and family.

"Clean and Convenient"

This hotel was rated three stars, but we would definitely give it more. Yes, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but the hotel itself, the parking and the pool, are perfectly secure. There is a streetcar station just outside the door, which takes one quickly and economically to the beautiful downtown and waterfront areas of Long Beach. Easy access to the Queen Mary, Aquarium and the ferry to Catalina Island. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the rooms are very clean. As mentioned in other reviews, one can leave their car here while cruising, and a shuttle picks you up right at the door.

was cruising the next day. they shuttle to the terminal. left behind my tux in the room, they went back and got it for me. not close to any good restaurants, but close to the train, which will get you there.

"Much better than expected"

I was a little worried when I read the reviews especially about the area the hotel was in but I had no problems and did not feel uneasy there. Having been on a long road trip in California I spent my last night here. On arrival there was complementary coffee, cookies and chilled water flavoured with orange which a nice way to begin. There was ample free parking, most of which was underground this should not be taken for granted especially in the LA area. On arrival I asked for a quiet room as we had a long journey home ahead of us, we were placed on the 4th floor at the rear of the hotel. The room exceeded my expectation and was very good value. The king sized bed was very comfortable, the room was dark at night (which is a failing of many hotel with poor blinds/curtains) and the air con worked well although it was a bit noisy. I had one of my best nights sleep on this holiday. The breakfast was nothing special but more than adequate and I would happily stay there again.
