"Good value for money"

4
07/11/2018

We were in Peckham for a course, it was simply a place to sleep. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. We found it good value for money and the pizza's were really tasty. All in all, it did it's job comfortably.

"Hotel Rooms & Corridors reaked of Bleach"

3
06/11/2018

Stayed here for 2 nights in October. The outside of the hotel is presently under construction. The Receptionists were pleasant and helpful upon check-in. However, when we were given our room number and made our way to the room, the cleaners were in the corridors, they had their gear spread all over the floor, soiled laundry, mops and buckets, vacumms etc, the fumes from the bleach was horrendous, it certainly was not a pretty sight. The last thing you need after getting off from a very long fight was to come in contact with this smell. The room was okay, but hey, you get what you pay for. There was no underground or train transport near the hotel, and it was situated in a very depressing suburb. Hotels.com should inform people when they advertise these accommodation places, that there are no trains or underground tubes located nearby. And for the price that they charge for these rooms, definitely not worth that amount of money and not for the location that it is in. Don't be fooled by the picture on the website, it should be updated. wont be back here again, ever.

I visited London in November with my brother. I found this hotel in booking, and it looked so clean and juvenile. We asked for check-in late and they were very polite and avaiable. The room was very clean and nice. If I'll have to come back to London I'll book again this Hotel.

"Very nice hotel"

We had a really nice room, I am a vegan and it was very hard to eat here but the stuff thought with me and we came to a solution so I could eat something. The manager was really nice and also told us really nice places we should visit.

"Don't Bother"

30/10/2018

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 5 nights, we were put in the dingy section around the back. The room was acceptable but very small. Massive draft coming from the windows which in late October isn't ideal. The clocks on the wall for decoration had stopped working and the lettering on the Trotters “independant” trading co was misspelled. Wi-fi didn't work the entire time we stayed, staff came into our room to clean despite leaving a do not disturb sign on the door. Our keycard stopped working 4 times and we had to take a 5 minute trip to the reception desk each time for them to swipe it in a machine and say it's fixed. On the 4th occasion I was greeted by a very sour faced receptionist who didn't offer an apology, in fact she didn't even look up from her computer until I confronted her for her rudeness. Transport isn't great, food was crap and overall wasn't worth the money we begrudgingly paid. DON'T STAY HERE. Pay the £100 more and get somewhere more central where the staff don't look like they want to spit on you.

"Great stay"

On arrival staff were very welcoming and helpful. Fantastic location for the Brixton o2 (about 10 mins drive). Room was very clean and cozy, very large comfy bed and flat screen with lots of channels. Diren was extremely friendly and welcoming providing us with a delicious cooked breakfast and even a hot drink on departure! will definitely stay in this lovely hotel again and recommend it for the good price and service.

"Good But..."

4
26/10/2018

Quirky as a Only Fools And Horses theme. Weatherspoons 10 mins away so less than £2 a pint and very very friendly locals in there ask for Sue and tell her Paul and Sarah sent you - you will then have an instant . Good clean rooms - some with no view and the basement ones dont have any window. Our room was good Bus outside to tube station or a 2 mile walk - lots of places to eat and Aldi 10 mins away. The think that really lets this hotel down is the English Breakfast - Its dire, its very poor. Some limited parking

"All things here was very good for us. I hope return soon. Thank you."

Very Friendly staff. Nice location; good and cheap restaurants in the area: good bus and underground connection in the area: the people were nice and friendly: the room was small with a bathroom and television

"Clean, decent sleep"

24/10/2018

Came here for a Wedding and Stopped for 2 nights. Was quite a long drive and of course all 4 of us were tired, the family room was small, but really was perfect as there were stairs to separate us from the Parents-ample privacy. Now a small problem (to begin with) arose when I switched on the light, it began to flicker, I needed this to be changed due to epilepsy, because the lights were all connected in the room, all I requested was a lamp (to be honest there should have been one in the room to begin with) This request was not passed onto the night staff hence a bulb was taken out. The manager on the Sunday could not have been more apologetic when he found out and was sincerely horrified when he realised this, I do not at any point hold him at fault as he knew about the problem when I first reported it and he passed it on before his shift ended The breakfast was lovely on the first morning of our stay, however the last day was horrendous. Was extremely busy, not enough staff who could accomadate such a fast paced environment, no organisation and total chaos, would we stay again, I would say no, the room may have been small but clean and the front of house staff at the beginning of our stay and end were very polite, but this wont make up for the bitter taste we all left with :(

"Great Experience"

24/10/2018

The staff are very friendly and the hotel is clean and comfortable. The area is also very welcoming and would recommend it to people coming to Peckham or London I'm general as it is very close to the main attractions and buses are frequent.

"Pot Pourri"

18/10/2018

Nothing really positive to say about this one really. Service - satisfactory. Most of the European staff just going through the motions. Breakfast - cheap Ingredients. Bit of a scrum for food. Room not big enough to cope at busy times. Dinner - good pizzas. Rooms - very small for a double. Couldn't open bathroom door fully. Shower not powerful. Quite clean. Good TV. Location - the walk between Peckham Rye & the hotel would b quite intimidating after dark. A very deprived area. I would recommend the longer walk from the other station (Queensroad Peckham). Price - well overpriced for what you get, but it's what you expect in London I guess. Generally - no reason at all to stay again. Try somewhere else.

"Best place to stay"

A very friendly and hospitable place to be. It's like a home away from home.Every one from the receptionist, the manager, cleaners etc are simply wonderful and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and already looking forward to another visit very soon. The rooms were also very clean and the facilities excellent.

"Great Hotel to stay"

Customer service at the reception was great with smile and very helpful. Room was very clean and tidy. Nice compfy bed, big TV, Wifi was great, toilet and shower were clean. Location is great as its close to the central London. It wasnt very busy outside. Parking facility was excellent. I really liked the place.

"Overnight Stay"

15/10/2018

We booked a family room. The hotel was clean as was the bedroom and bathroom, the shower door didn't close. Breakfast choices were very good. However the entrance to the hotel was by a flight of steps which was unsuitable for my mother who has mobility issues; our neighbours were noisy, you could hear children running up & down the stairs in their family room. Plus, there is no on-site parking

We were four ladies in a room for four people. The room was small, but we just slept there so it was enough for us. The people are very nice. The dinner was very good. The room service was pretty good too, we got everyday new towles and out beds were made. I would come back.

The hotel was great. But sometimes the room key wasn't working. Our shower door wasn't working as well. But the rest was amazing. Really comfortable beds. The restaurant was delicious to. The hotel is located and not faraway from the bus station. We will definitely come back!

"WAS EXPECTING MORE....."

09/10/2018

Nicely located at walking distance from railway station, rooms slightly cramped for space but good service makes for it. Biggest plus is their nice restaurant and biggest negative is the closing time of their restaurant; which is too early by any means.

A nice hotel with clean and tidy room , the bed is a double one , very spacious. breakfast here is tasty, with the choice of buffet or full English breakfast. staff are helpful , especially Shailes and Aruna , they are kind and friendly, I will surely recommend this hotel .

"Thank you Aruna!"

27/09/2018

The stay itself is reasonably priced, within walking proximity to the tower of London(one hour walk), HMS Belfast and others. However this is a special shout out to Aruna for her amazing customer service who went beyond when we lost an item. She checked with other reps, who confirmed that our item had been found ( when we were previously told the night that nothing was turned in ). Much appreciated-- Thank you so much Aruna for making our trip continue to have a truly happy ending

"Unbelievable Value"

25/09/2018

What a great hotel this is with a superb value for money all round. Limited parking but we got sorted. The rooms are good in size and comfort and the location is convenient enough for seeing the Greater London area. One of the most reasonably priced hotels in the area and yet still high standard and very popular. Highly recommended.

"Terrible Service and Cleanliness"

1
24/09/2018

Upon arrival, we were grossly disappointed with the trek out back and into a different building to get to our prepaid King room only to find that there was dried blood in the sheets and on the headboard. After changing rooms, the beds were not very comfortable. We left London for a few days but on the day of our return, I called and confirmed out reservation with the hotel. At our return to our second prepaid reservation we were told that the hotel was sold out and that no rooms were available. After being told there was nothing they could do, we demanded a refund and found lodging elsewhere. I would not stay here again even if it were free.

"The room is very tidy and clean"

24/09/2018

There are several restaurants, supermarket and shops nearby the hotel, and there is a Italian restaurant at the ground floor of hotel where provide great food and breakfast. But the location is a little bit far from the Peckham rye station

"My lovely trip to London"

24/09/2018

I've stayed at the Peckham hotel with my grandma and we've enjoyed so much. My grandma says our room was too noisy ( 643) but I think it was okay. The first and second day we also had breakfast and it was delicious especially the blueberry muffins.

Definitely would return! Cherrymae the receptionist was extremely helpful. The door to our room didn't unlock properly, but the receptionist Cherrymae was extremely helpful and changed our room swiftly. Overal, a clean, helpful and decently priced experience and would recommend for those who are commuting to London any time soon.

"BEST WESTERN PCKHAM"

13/09/2018

I chose this hotel based on need for a somewhere well priced and close to the NINE ELMS area, and ability to accommodate me as a wheelchair user. I was abused they had no rooms with access bathroom. This was fine for purpose so I booked. However on arrival my chair was unable to fit in the room due to doorways l, so we had to try 3 rooms to find a good fit I was made to feel an inconvenience despite the staff appearing outwardly helpful TV didn't work at first although was sorted quickly. However phone did not so I was told to use my mobile to contact the desk. Kettle cord way to short for purpose so had to use my badside outlet to use successfully. Upsides V clean comfortable beds fair value.

"Bad staff, close to public transportation"

2
11/09/2018

My girlfriend and I were staying at the hotel and we were amazed to find out most of the staff doesn't know English (in the UK who would've imagined) one time when we asked for a shower cap and hair conditioner the girl at the reception didn't understand what we were talking about, wrote it on a note, but we didn't get what we requested, in the same day we were shocked to find out no one made up our room and refilled our shampoo because we had none left a day before (it was already more than half empty when we first arrived to the room). The last night we stayed in there was a loud alarm in the middle of the night around 1am which woke us in a scare and made us go to the reception (who again didn't know enough English to explain what the problem was and if everything was safe) In addition to that, they never answer the phone at the reception, we called a lot of times to ask questions regarding our room and there was no answer. The only thing good about the hotel, is that it's in a quiet place without a lot of tourists and close to public transportation with 20-30 mins drive to Central London. I won't be back to this hotel, and I promise you not to stay there if you want to have a basic communication with the reception.

Staff were excellent, loved the décor, but the room was very small, and there were no windows. There was a damp smell and I saw silverfish around the skirtings. We also discovered a puddle of water under our bed. Breakfast was cooked to order and was very nice, a good selection of cereals, teas and coffees on offer as well as pastries and croissants. The Italian restaurant in the evening had a poor selection on the menu, with only pizza or chicken on the menu, my chicken Caesar salad was a small plate of shredded lettuce with a few pieces of chicken and a Caesar dressing.

"Excellent stay"

21/08/2018

I was in this twice last year for seven nights and back again this year and stayed 30 nights. Wonderful staff they treat you like family. No any issue single day. House keeper Anna well look after my room and spotless. Reception team was extra ordinary with kind and service focused restaurant and breakfast staff. Room is spotless with nice and clean. Food in pizza polli is great.will come again next year.

"Just ok"

17/08/2018

Positives: Staff, beds, breakfast Negatives: Parking is problematic, rooms are TINY, bar only open 5-11pm which is useless, front main part of hotel is fine, but the rooms at the back are horrible and confusing to find. Location isn't good for sightseeing, it's too far out of the city.

I stay here a lot as it's near my office. I've written a review before. I had the Lovely Jubbly room this week! I had a glass of nice red wine too. Again the staff are so friendly and helpful and smiley! It would be nice if the restaurant sold more than pizza and salad although they do them well. Will be staying again soon

We stayed here for 2 nights, staff were polite & helpful from the start - always appreciated after the stress of a long journey. The restaurant downstairs served pizzas - would have preferred more choice of pasta but it was reasonably priced & tasty. Breakfast was good. My bed was really comfy although my son said his was hard. Well situated for buses (number 12 easy to remember goes via Trafalgar square to Oxford Circus & stops outside the hotel. There was no space in the car park but there was free parking on the estate opposite - no issues & saved the fee. I actually thought the car parking looked tricky to get out of.

The bedroom lived up to its description of'small double room'. Would not liked to have had a large suitcase with us! Very clean and comfortable and the shower had a good water pressure with excellent temperature control.

07/08/2018

We stayed here for one night to attend a friend's birthday party. The rooms are themed along the Only Fools and Horses style. Our room had Luvvly Jubbly stencilled on the headboard and the famous Reliant Robin outlined on the wall. The room was very clean but tiny. My wife and I had to take turns in getting dressed! Use the suit case frame and you'll be trapped in your room with no space to open the door. Parking! No chance! The website says free parking with no need to book. Untrue. You do need to reserve a space and there's only room for 5 cars. The receptionist did, however, show us a space across the road where we could park for free, a housing area. I was a bit wary but no drama in the end. All that said the bed was comfortable, the shower great, the room and bedding clean. So it achieved its purpose. Let's say it was compact!

"A day in London "

05/08/2018

I recently stayed at the BestWestern Peckham and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The quality of the room, bathroom and bed was good. The decorum is Only Fools and Horses and I thought that this was a lovely twist. There was a Samsung TV with good reception and air conditioning. It was the air conditioning that was one of the reason for 4 and not 5 stars. It was quite weak and due to the summer we have been having it wasn't really up to the job. Also the breakfast was ok nothing amazing, but good enough. Would certainly stay again. But my best piece of advise getting there is to get the bus. The stop is right outside the hotel and also it avoids the train which meant you had to walk through a very unclean section of the area. We got the number 12 bus and tapped in with contactless card and it dropped us straight at Westminster in about 30 minutes.

"Don't stay here unless desperate "

3
29/07/2018

- The room is small, but it does the job, and clean enough. - You can hear the noise outside, and in the corridors so it's not the best if you agree trying to sleep! - Staff are careless and their service is lousy at best. We didn't get a replacement for coffee, or milk the next morning and it's seems that the staff watch TV instead cleaning the room. We noticed that the TV channel was changed every time we come back to the room. Unless you are desperate, don't stay here!

"Dreadful. Dirty. Smelly. "

28/07/2018

Stayed for one night in July. One of the worst experiences we have ever had in a hotel. Firstly there was some kind of water leak leaving the front of our room covered in water and a sign blocking our room door. The smell of the room is unbelievable. Musty, old, damp. Rotten. No window but a skylight...that would not close so we were woken up at 5am by the sunrise. Water dripped on us all night from somewhere on the ceiling. The room was really manky. The chair by the mirror (which was half covered by the TV making it unusable) would be thrown out if you owned it. Also, at about 09:30 there was a constant very loud incessant drilling noise that did not stop. Really loud. Very annoying. Any completely unacceptable. DO NOT STAY HERE

"Decent"

26/07/2018

The neighbourhood is not the best one. You see beggers, you see gangs, I didn't feel very safe. However, the rooms were kept clean, but they were pretty small though. The cards used to open the doors were demagnetizing every day.

"Spot On"

26/07/2018

Checked in here this week with a work colleague and we both said what a great hotel. Limited parking but plenty of on street parking nearby. Check in nice and easy and we were shown to our rooms which were both lovely and clean and fully equipped for an overnight stay. After a walk around the area we decided to eat in the Italian restaurant at the hotel. We were suprised at how good and cheap the food was. For a hotel it was excellent value. Service from the staff in the restaurant and reception was outstanding and they really make an effort. Will stay again without hesitation when in the area.

"Terrible dinning experience."

1
25/07/2018

I went to have dinner at the restaurant and was deliberately ignored by the waitress. I waited for over 30 minutes and wasn't even given a menu or an eta. The waitress strategically attended to other dinners and made me feel completely humiliated. She smirked at me which gave the impression that doing so was fun. I couldn't take anymore of the disrespect and complained but the waiter made no effort to take my order so I complained to management to no avail. The sad thing is, despite complaining verbally and by email, I haven't even received an apology. I certainly won't be back there again.

"Good value for money."

23/07/2018

The hotel was clean and comfy and the staff were helpful and friendly. The air con was a lifesaver due to the extra hot weather. Would stay there again and would recommend. Only issue was the lift was broken and back of the building was unlit.

"Disappointed "

22/07/2018

Stayed here due to family member in Kings hospital. I know its only a 3 star but I stayed for 9 nights, run out of toilet rolls for 2 days, and had the same sheets on. I did report it twice to reception but was told by the Eastern European receptionist, "I keep telling them, and they don't understand"! I was staying long term and asked for a discount and was offered 10%.er.... No. I got married in a best Western and was hoping for more!!!!

"Good hotel, good price"

18/07/2018

Room was clean and cozy. Hotel was quiet, staff were kind and responsive. As the snow came out, it was a little bit cold in the room. We didn't try breakfast, but the food looked delicious. Hotel is not at the centre of London, but buss stations are by the hotel, so it was easy to get to centre.

"POOR QUALITY HOTEL"

11/07/2018

It was more like staying in student accommodation than a hotel. Also expensive and breakfast is extra, parking is extra. My room anone was £119, very small, clean. Wifi was fine. Breakfast ,the main cooked breakfast arrived before I had my museli. The restaurant was more a cafeteria in a school. Staff were generally good.

The rooms are small but newly renovated, so clean and fresh. They also have air con/heating. The dining room is casual and they make great thin based pizzas to order. Staff have been great, really friendly and down to earth. Buses out the front will take you just about anywhere and if you're not sure the drivers have been really helpful, same with the tubes and staff on the gates. Any contactless card will work on buses and tubes.

This place truly has a fantastic cost-value, the staff was amazing and the hotel grounds and rooms are modern enough and very comfortable if you are looking for a good bed to sleep on after spending all day long in the Town, too bad it is located in a somewhat rough neighbourhood where you need to keep looking behind your back if your walking down the street after a night of partying (not recommended to walk the neighbourhood at night as there are lots of fishy people just looking for a fight or something shady).

Had a very comfortable stay here last year. Loved the quirky rooms and service was good. Area a little out of the thick of it, but transport links are very good. We were worried about the lack of parking, but easily managed to park on the street directly next to the hotel.

Needed a hotel for a night and managed to get a room on the day. The room was very small with no window. We had AC in the room so it was OK. The room was reasonably clean and bed was OK. Not cheap though.

"Superb Hotel & Manager"

I stayed at this quirky and delightful London hotel in May. Following my stay I had a post visit query . Dhiren (the mnager) dealt swiftly with the issue and took personal pride in ensuring it was resolved. The hotel itself excellent and well worth a visit. I am looking forward to making it my hotel of choice whenever I am in London . Thanks to the team.

Stayed in a room for 5 people with 2 queen sized bed and 1 single bed. Room was quite unique as it has an upper floor with the beds and a nice view out the window. Breakfast is good and affordable. Love the tables and chairs outside the hotel where you can sit and relax after a meal, I do not have much complain!

Our experience staying at the above hotel was good. The surrounding with a garden was great and the room was clean and comfortable. Most of all I love the hair dryer. Their English breakfast was delicious and my son loved their harsh brown. Dinner was good and nice. The staffs were friendly especially their manager. Thumbs up ?? for Dhiren. For a few days stay, this hotel is perfect and worth of money.

Customer service here is brilliant. They're quick to serve and are very pro-active. I used to work in a hotel and I have to say their service here is amazing. The rooms are also very cozy and well-lit. The manager of the hotel, Dhired, is extremely friendly and easy to talk to. He's very helpful and is always looking out for the guests at the hotel.

"WOULD NOT RETURN"

19/06/2018

My husband had a hospital appointment at Kings College on Denmark Hill so this appeared to be a good option. We had emailed the hotel 3 weeks earlier requesting a quiet room away from the lift and upgraded to a kingsize room. On arrival we were told our room wasn't available which was expected as it was only 12.15 but we were offered a room in the basement which we declined. We changed in the toilets and left the suitcase with the reception staff who helped with directions to the hospital. When we returned later the staff had changed and no message was left regarding our room we only realised the room was in the basement when we told to take the lift down a floor. The room was directly opposite the lift, dark and gloomy and tiny. We returned to the reception who said they had not been given any information about either our email or request on arrival but they did have another room on the first floor. This room was at the end of a long corridor down some steps and then down some more steps once in the room itself, this room was even smaller than the other one but at least it was brighter. We agreed to have it as we were extremely tired having left home at 8am and it was a very hot day. On returning to the room we noticed it was only a double bed and that one side was pushed up to the wall and there wasn't enough space to pull it away. The saving grace for us was there was air-con which worked well. The bathroom was tiny and the curtain only covered half of the window, there other window didn't have a curtain and there was only 1 chair in the room. The room decor left a lot to be desired, dark green paintwork made the room dark and dated. This room should have been a single room and wasn't big enough for a double. It has to be said that the room was very clean, the bedding and towels were spotless and there was a kettle with tea and coffee. It appears that most people stayed at this hotel either bring in their own food or have food delivered which says a lot about the place. The drinks as in most hotels were on the pricey side and the bar was faceless with no atmosphere, not a place you would want to spend much time in. All in all a bad experience just glad we were only there 1 night. We were not offered a refund on our room on leaving but then again we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay just as well as frankly just glad to be going home.

There are good points and bad points. On the positive side the room was very clean and a bonus was the air con. On the bad side, there are only 6 spaces for parking and it will cost £15 per day. The room had no windows and it was the size of a large closet. The information pack states you can borrow an adapter for free as long as you return it. I was advised by reception to borrow one would cost £5.

Didn't expect much for the price but was pleasantly surprised it's a lovely modern clean hotel, our room was a little small but had everything we needed: flat screen tv on a moveable bracket, lovely bathroom with nice toiletries and check out was 11am instead of the usual 10am so we didn't have to rush. Staff were lovely and the bed was super comfy. Thanks!

"Average room with potential safety hazards"

3
16/06/2018

The Best Western in Peckham stands right on the main road – you can't miss it, it's a large, impressive looking red brick building, with clean white brick trim, and a bright yellow Robin Reliant parked on the front lawn. Yes, you read that right. Trying to cash in on the TV series Only Fools and Horses, home of the fictional Trotters, the little yellow car represents Del Trotter's “business”. It doesn't stop there, as various catch phrases from the show are in evidence, sprinkled around the hotel. Located on the Peckham Road it's on the main bus route into London – around minute ride – and Greenwich, maybe a little less. It's not on the underground system but the buses are many and frequent. Our room (# 124, in the basement), thankfully, wasn't plastered with the likes of Lovely Jubbly, but was painted in a variety of bright greens, which, for a small room, made it feel somehwat claustrophobic). However, the bedd linens were clean and the bed comfortable. The layout of the room has potential safety issues, for instance, the door opens right into a wall – part of the bathroom which has been created within the room – so it would be easy to walk smack into it. On the front of this wall is a very large flat screen TV, the bottom corner of which is just ay eye, or forehead, level depending on your height – again, a potential hazard. A metal door stop is a permanent fixture on the floor a couple of inches to the left of the bottom of the bed – a real trip hazard. So, for a very small room, it could be tricky to negotiate, especially for someone with certain disabilities. The bathroom, whilst equipped with everything you need from liquid soap to towels and a hairdryer, is so small one has tobe extremely flexible in order to dry oneself properly. The view from the window is a brick wall in which lurk several air conditoner units, which are really noisy. I was alarmed to see the fire doors along the hallway were wedged open! And speaking of alarms, they went off late one evening, and again in the early hours of the morning. The explanation we were given was that someone “had a shower and the steam set them off”. So this means that ALL the alarms go off, and something as simple as steam can trigger them! This seems odd to me, as surely if that were the case, they'd be screaming every few minutes. Breakfast is served from 7am, and you will not be allowed to even choose a table before this as the breakfast voucher has to be handed to a member of staff who will take your order. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is standard hotel fare, but there is a good veriety of everything from cereal to fresh fruit. We stayed here for three nights, and I'll be honest, had it been for longer I would have probably have asked for a different room.

"Large hotel ideally placed for access to central London"

05/06/2018

Looking for somewhere to stay whilst my husband was in hospital. Well placed for buses to and fro to most of London from Peckham. We were in room 328 it was on the small side for two people and although it had windows either end of the room, one was opaque and the other had a view of walls. I found this rather depressing especially once my husband went into hospital and I was on my own. Breakfast choice was very good and the choice of dinner looked good but unfortunately I didn't get to sample it. Staff very helpful and friendly and public areas always clean as was my room.

The staff were rude and didn't want to help. Had to pay an extra £15 on top of the hotel price for one night of parking- which was an extremely tight squeeze and had issues getting in and out of the gate. We struggled to find the room as the place is like a rabbit hole and the reception staff were not helpful at all- we managed to find the room with the help from the nice cleaning ladies. The room was clean but small. Close enough to travel to the centre of London but wouldn't want to stay in that area again. Definitely wouldn't stay here again.

Nice start reception staff friend Hotel is not very well sign posted Room was spotlessly clean although my room was a twin think been better suited to large single or double Shower /bathroom although small was spot on clean and a nice hot shower Big flat screen tv plenty of eclectic points witch is always a good thing Had small problem with noise as there is work going on in the basement nothing over bad though There is a small bar in the restaurant but I think they have missed a trick really as hotel goes with only fools theme then there's a pizza restaurant with limited menu Tried pizzas couple of times if I'm honest not very good Why they don't have east end menu don't know bar is part of restaurant waste of time not sort of place you can sit and have a pint There is very limited parking plenty around hotel if outside the permit times 8.30–1830 If your parking inside those times good luck Must say all staff very good very helpful and always spoke

The staff where extremely rude and very unprofessional. While I was checking in the receptionist started serving another person and started talking over me, she eventually slapped the room card on the counter with no explanation of room number etc. I politely asked her for an explanation and she threw me a horrible look. Another time I asked for a glass of water at the restaurant and was aggressively told 'I will be cleaning the machine' I've never encountered so badly manared staff before. They need to learn how to smile and be nice to people. The rooms were extremely small not enough to fit 2 people side by side.

Just spent 3 nights at the Best Western with a colleague. Upon arrival a large party of young people also arrived as such the shift manager automatically upgraded us to an area of the hotel on the opposite side. He was extremely accommodating to our requests. Our rooms were next to each 241 and 239. They are family rooms normally with a double and single bed. The room was modern, fresh and clean. A kettle, mugs, tea and coffee etc were supplied. The bathroom had a good quality all over body shampoo and shower gel supplied. There were beside light and a writing / dressing desk. There was a wall mounted tv and the room has air conditioning they even supplied an electric clock radio with alarm facility. Other reviews are right you can hear other rooms but this is a hotel full of people and most were settled for the evening and I didn't find this an issue. Other reviews stated that the clocks didn't work. They are large and clearly there for aesthetic purposes only as the noise of it ticking would stop you sleeping. Personally time would fly as I would have thrown it out the window. They don't need to work they look good. The breakfast reviews are correct in that they probably could do with another coffee machine when busy but the rest was lovely. The pizza restaurant was great although I do think that £6.50 a small glass of wine is a massive markup even with a corkage cost. All in all a good stay and thank you to the staff who were 1st class.

Hello. I stayed at your Best Western London Peckham Hotel 110 Peckham Road London SE15 5EU England I was in this hotel for two days. and once I accidentally heard how Dhiren manager says about the hotel's clients. he said that all customers are monkeys and idiots of sheep. first appearance hotel seemed fine, that is until 8 am WHEN A PNUEMATIC ROCK BREAker started this would continue until 5PM MAKING THE ROOM UNUSABLE during the day ALSO NO DAYLIGHT AS TIMBER HOARDING ACROSS THE WINDOW , keycards for the room door took a minimum of 4 attempts before access would be granted, breakfast was ok but 1 teamaker and 1 toast maker between 50 guests very slow going at times , WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE VERY VERY DISSAPPOINTING

13/05/2018

Very disappointing customer service from Joanna who could barely crack a smile and who acted like every customer was bothering her. Absolutely NO SOUNDPROOFING - so if you plan to get some sleep, bring earplugs or you will hear every conversation and car from the street as well as keeping yourself involved in conversations held in neighbours rooms and corridor. Rooms are TINY which adds to the Fools & Horses theme being totally overwhelming. My room was orange and yellow, curtains looked like they'd been in an argument with a racoon and clocks weren't working. Only a light by the desk, unless you want full bright ceiling lights on, so you have to get out of bed to turn the desk light off. Bed is ok, breakfast is basic but the fry up tasted ok. The set up at breakfast makes it seem like they want to piss off their customers. No space by food etc and the very slow coffee machines create massive lines constantly and further stop you from being able to move around well. Staff first told me I had no breakfast included, when I persisted that I had indeed paid for the upgrade I was told I had continental only - again incorrect. When pressed again and some more paper shuffling later I was finally told 'ah, yes, you have english breakfast included' by the very stressed man running around creating more work for himself! So in conclusion, the hotel needs better everything! Inefficient, ugly and definitely not worth a second visit.

Stayed for 2 nights with work. Check in was easy, I stayed on 3rd floor, room was on 2 floors with toilet and desk area below and then up some stairs to the beds and tv. Room was very warm but there is a wall mounted air conditioning unit which worked well. Bathroom was very small but adequate. I looked onto the main road which was very busy but the windows shut out most of the noise. Very clean throughout. Breakfast is buffet continental or cooked plus continental, £5.95 for former and 6.95 for cooked. I didn't hear anything from the rooms beside me or in the corridors. Some of the hotel is ‘Only Fools and Horses' themed. The staff were friendly and helpful. Shops and restaurants in easy walking distance.

I've been staying at this hotel for the past 11 days while my husband has been in hospital. The manager, Dhiren, and the rest of the staff have been incredibly kind and accommodating. I've had to keep rebooking as my husbands hospital leave kept being postponed. Everyone here was extremely helpful in making sure I had a room. Breakfast was delicious and the ladies working in the restaurant were all very friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff are top notch.

"Basic but perfectly satisfactory "

26/04/2018

Am staying here for 2 days on business so only needed a base. It does what it says on the tin. The room is clean and safe, and the bathroom is modern and surprisingly spacious for a small room. I'm in the basement which is quiet and there is a small window in the room too which is wasn't expecting. I'd have like there to be a way to lock the window overnight but it seems pretty secure. The walls are pretty thin, so can hear my neighbour's conversations and their banging around, but it's part of the nature of budget hotels. The mattress is a little tired which is a shame, but as I'm on my own in a twin room so slept on top of one of the duvets. I would recommend packing socks as the rooms are laminate flooring so a little chilly, but it's quite smart and clean. The WiFi is reliable and free, so no complaints there. Unfortunately the let down has been the breakfast. It's not included in the room price so you have to join a queue at reception to buy a voucher then walk across the lobby and queue at the restaurant to be seated. Although I didn't know this so went straight to the restaurant queue and had to start queuing all over again. The hot drinks are only via a basic coffee machine and taste quite artificial. The full English wasn't exactly “full”. You get half a tomato, one egg, one sausage, two small fatty bacon slices, one hash brown, a spoonful of herbs and a spoonful of tinned mushrooms. What makes it really disappointing is that it comes luke warm. There's only full fat milk available for the cereals which are just cornflakes and bran. The fruit is ok but limited. There is a nice supply of croissants and muffins though. There is a restaurant on site for evening meals which is a bonus and a vending machine in reception. The staff are pleasant and approachable and there is a security presence in the evenings which is reassuring. Overall it's a satisfactory hotel that's pretty middle of the road.

Rooms are cramped and tired looking. I stayed 2 nights as it was a good location for getting to London Marathon start line and also for getting back from Victoria (Southeastern Rail). 1st night was ok but traffic and sirens thru the night could be heard as no double glazing on windows. Aircon unit was noisy too. After running the marathon i just wanted a good night sleep. But had to change rooms at 11pm due to aircon unit leaking all over the floor next to bed. On day of checkout after breakfast couldn't get back in my room. 2 trips to reception and back which is not what i needed after the previous day's exertions! Staff are friendly and helpful but hotel itself needs a complete refurb and upgrade. Sadly i wouldn't stay here again unless it underwent some drastic changes!

"Small Rooms But Overall Great Hotel With Great Staff"

17/04/2018

I stayed at the Best Western in Peckham for 6 nights this month, and all six nights were great. The room was very small, but had everything we needed in it. The front desk staff was SUPER helpful with recommendations, directions, and helping us get food delivered to our room. The restaurant at the hotel was a little Italian place with GREAT pizza and appetizers, and the breakfasts offered were tasty and inexpensive. The neighborhood appeared to be a bit shady at first glance, but we had absolutely no issues and ended up having some great small talk with the locals. I would definitely stay here again.

"Green room for family 5 person"

13/04/2018

In London we were passing through. Only two days. We arrived at the hotel at 2 am with three small children. We were met by hotel employees and helped to bring 10 suitcases. the room was green two-story. 2 double and 1 single bed. Clean and very cute. Very tasty breakfast and very nice waitress girls. At the reception of a sympathetic staff. We had such an unpleasant incident. When flying to London, we lost one suitcase. We did not know what to do where to call. We appeal to the reception staff of the hotel Irene Sorbia so that she helped us find it. Left her all the data of our flight and airline company. From London we flew to Toronto. The suitcase has arrived to London to airport Luton, but we already departed from London from another airport. Suitcase stay in lost&found in Luton and was no technical possibility ti send it to Canada. Irena, hotel worker, was very a kind person with a heart. She has went to airport and take away out luggage to her home. And after that she has sent to Canada by delivery company. It's very nice that there are such pleasant people. Thanks her very much and let her advance in her career.

"Clean, friendly staff, good value"

Stayed there with two friends for three nights. It is a bit far away from the center, but I wouldn't call the neighborhood dodgy, I never felt unsafe. It also has a really frequent bus connection, so it is easy and cheap to get to the city center, what would a London trip be without riding a double decker? The staff is very friendly, check in and check out went very smoothly (which we especially appreciated when checking out at 3.40 AM to catch out plane). The room really was on the smaller side, but it was clean and that was a lot more important for us. The bathroom was also clean, well functioning and there was plenty of room in the shower. I was also actually quite surprised how good the pizzas were at the hotel restaurant, so that is a good option, if you just don't have the energy to go anywhere else for dinner. All in all, it's a budget-friendly hassle free option where you don't have to compromise on cleanliness.

"Good for the money"

Checking in was a breeze. The room is beyond small, even without large bags, it is difficult to move about the room. The front desk people were nice when we ordered pizza and food after a long day of flying and they called our room when the food was delivered. Uber was able to pick us up easily. The parking is tiny but we were able to get a spot. The bed was comfortable. There isn't anything around the hotel however and it is in sort of a dodgy neighborhood. If you are able to walk about a mile there are options for food but it was pouring rain and we ended up just staying out for most of the day.

"Wedding weekend with family. "

Stayed here for three nights with five family members and booked four rooms. My mum didn't like the small window in her room and Raj, who was on reception was really professional and moved her to a room with two large windows. All the staff we came across we're friendly and professional. The rooms were clean and there was a good continental breakfast available and you could upgrade to a full English for a few extra pounds. The value for money was really good for London. The only reason I've not given a five star review is that on the Sunday night there was only one member of staff to serve food and drinks so there was a really long wait even if you just wanted a drink. Otherwise if you are staying in the Peckham area and you want a nice clean room, warm welcome for a reasonable price I would recommend this hotel.

BWLondonPeckham, General Manager at Best Western London Peckham Hotel, responded to this review
Dear PeteWebbli3z, Thank you for the positive review. I really appreciate you taking the time to write this much detail, thank you! Overall it looks like you had a great experience, with some minor set backs. Great to read that Raj was professional and that you enjoyed your stay in our hotel. Thank you for the feedback on our Sunday night service, we take your comments on board and are currently in the process of making the evening service more efficient with the required team members on duty. I hope to welcome you back in the near future, thanks again! Regards, Erwin de Jong Oliveira

"Clean, good location, fun decor"

02/04/2018

This hotel is decorated based on Only Fools and Horses, so it is a bit of fun. You can get a bus outside the hotel to bring you to the city centre. We stayed here for two nights and just used it as a base for exploring London so we didn't spend too much time in the hotel; however, it was perfect for what we wanted. Rooms are small but you get what you pay for when finding a budget hotel in London and it wasn't a problem for us. Not a hotel to stay in if you are wanting luxury but perfect as somewhere to sleep and shower when wanting to explore the city for a budget price.

BWLondonPeckham, General Manager at Best Western London Peckham Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Sophiekayy, Thanks very much for your accurate review. Nice to see that you enjoyed your stay and the hotel was in line with your budget. 26/03/2018

This Hotel was booked by my step-kids for my Birthday, as i am a huge fan of Only Fools and horses and they found this hotel. We arrived and checked in, nice and friend staff and Hotel reception modern and very clean. We we entered our room it was not the themed room that we had ask for, however when we asked the reception staff were happy to move us to this room. It was as described, themed as Only Fools and Horses. We didn't eat in the evening as we went out but we had breakfast the following morning. It was a decent size and tasted ok. All in all a good weekend in London.

"Not great "

24/03/2018

Clean , decorated ok, etc... but I was put downstairs in what was a little like a cell - small window 8 feet above ground. That's ok, but what really put me off this hotel was at check in I was treated really coldly and frankly rudely....not nice at all. By the way Parking is only for 6 cars, and charged at £12 or £15 a night.

BWLondonPeckham, General Manager at Best Western London Peckham Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Motley212, Thank you very much for sharing your experience here, however not so good that it was not as expected. We have a large variety of room types, some with better views than others & some rooms on the lower ground floor. It is clear the lowerground floor you had was not to your liking and for that I want to apologise. It is great though that you loved our decor & that you experiences the room as clean. I will pass on this feedback to our housekeeping team. Thank you! As you mentioned the service was not cold and not welcoming I would love to find out more information. Could you kindly send me an email, so that I can follow this up with you in person; [email protected] Parking is limited at the hotel as mentioned on our website. As the spaces are fully secure, we do charge £15.00 night for these, however if you prefer not to pay this charge, parking can be found in the vicinity of the hotel. Sorry your experience was not to your satisfaction, however I hope you will choose our hotel again in the future and if you do I will ensure we will look after you. Situated in a English style building,we were surprised by its look outside upon arriving as foreigners and we really like it actually. Full of young clients it is quite dynamic under such classic outlook. The staff is quite friendly which left us good impression! But it is a little far from centre city there is the only shortcoming in our opinion

This hotel is by no means luxurious. This is the second time I have stayed here to visit nearby relatives and the accommodation is basic but clean and the hotel is well located for a hop into town if you wish. one thing though on my last visit I went for breakfast and they had run out!

04/03/2018

Staying for one night, the hotel is situated in a great location and within walking distance of the main areas of Peckham. The hotel has lots of hints to Del Boy with the Robin Reliant and themed rooms. I stayed in room 214 which was a single room, really small but clean and tidy. The room was comfortable enough and had all the usual bits you would expect in the room. Limited parking available on site for quite a steep price but we had a number of people in our party so went with it.

BWLondonPeckham, General Manager at Best Western London Peckham Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Legend187, Thanks for your decent review. It is great to read that you thought the single room option was compact but clean and suited your needs. Our parking is secure and as we have limited availability we do charge for this service. There is the option to park around the hotel, however these options can not be guaranteed. Well... the hotel is well placed and reasonably cheap for a London hotel. The decoration is extraordinary. My room had a wall hanging of a big yellow van and three clocks on the wall saying New York, Paris, Peckham - they all said the same time... ha ha .. If you are on a low budget and have a fresh outlook / good sense of humour and want a terrific bed - BW Peckham wont let you down. The words Lovely Jubbly were written into my bed head (Room 252)

We enjoyed our stay here. The double room was in the basement but still had an exterior window. It's a tiny room but we read the reviews and were prepared for that. The bathroom was fine and overall the room was quite clean. The bus connection into central London couldn't be easier and only took 20 minutes or so. The restaurant in the hotel had pretty nice wood-fired pizzas as well. For less than $70 CAD a night, you'd struggle to find better.

BWLondonPeckham, General Manager at Best Western London Peckham Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Daryl, Thanks very much for your positive review. It seems like we have matched your expectations and that you received value for money on your stay. Our restaurant is recent addition to our hotel, so great to read that you have enjoyed the PizzaPolli experience We hope to welcome you back in the near future on a potential return visit to London. "You get what you pay for"

16/02/2018

Needed a reasonably priced place for an overnight stay for adult daughter and I, near to other family members. Chose this for price and the inclination towards ‘only fools and horses' theme. Arrived to be vaguely acknowledged (would not describe indifference as ‘welcomed') by receptionist and directed to room. Which was in the bowels of the building, in a sort of windowless cellar. This said, it was clean, nicely decorated and everything worked. The beds were comfortable and the tea/coffee making facilities adequate. A biscuit would have been nice but there you go. After falling into a deep sleep we were rudely awakened by the fire bell going off! Just after 1am. It stopped after a few seconds but we were wide awake and wondering what to do. It might have been nice if staff had been around to reassure customers there was no problem. Instead the place was like the Marie Celeste. Finally got back to sleep after pondering whether we'd be burnt to a crisp in an inescapable cellar! Ah well, like I said, you get what you pay for ??

BWLondonPeckham, General Manager at Best Western London Peckham Hotel, responded to this review

"Horrible Experience from the First Day!"

1
13/02/2018

I booked 2 rooms for lodging at the Best Western Peckham Hotel. This will be a lengthy review... I found it interesting that I had to leave out the main building and walk outside, down a ramp and across a parking lot to where our rooms were housed in a secondary building. The second day of my trip there, the building had painters REPAINTING THE RAMP! One side at a time.... but the ramp is so small it is hard to walk and not stepo in the paint- which is what happened to many people, and paint was on the bottom of my shoes and other residents that i met while there. (WHY WOULD YOU PAINT A RAMP IN WINTER IN A HEAVY TRAFFIC AREA ?!?!?!?) Room 1: The faucet would not drain, and the shower drained slowly and the heater was not working properly. I requested that they come fix the problem. Room 2: Dried blood stains on the bedroom sheets, stains on pillow cases., and the shower would not drain. I requested that they come fix the problem. I was out for the remainder of the day and when I returned I was told they fixed the issues in both rooms. Room 1 was fixed- thank God! Room 2: New sheets but, when I took my shower in room 2 the water overflowed out of shower and onto the floor. So, I requested a new room. Packed up all my belongings and had to have them stored until I could get into a new room and return from a day trip. When I finally got back I moved all of my belongings into the second room, only to see that the TEA KETTLE HAD MOLD INSIDE OF IT AND THE ROOM SMELLED OF SEWAGE! (there had to be some leak!) I went back and told them about the issue of the new room and they set me up for a THIRD room. They said it would be a bigger and better room. I moved ALL of my belongings AGAIN, and this room was bigger, the shower worked, the sheets were clean BUT THERE WAS BLOOD STAINS ON THE WALL, BLOODY BOOGERS ON THE DECORATED WALL, AND BLOOD STAINS ON THE HEADBOARD, AND THE FLOOR LOOKED LIKE IT HAD NOT BEEN MOPPED/CLEANED IN A VERY LONG TIME. Oh, and although it was fainter, I could still smell the sewage smell. I informed the front desk of the "bloody" mess that was there and they assured me that housekeeping would clean it the following day. It never happened, although they assured me it would be cleaned properly. The final night of my stay at this Best (WORST) Western, a security alarm went off in the building at about 3 in the morning. People didn't know what was going on, but security and clerks were running back and forth. We didn't know if we needed to evacuate or stay in our rooms. We asked workers, several residents walked to the main building but didn't get a response. I called the lobby to ask "What is happening and if we need to evacuate?" The man said "We are checking on the situation and we will call you back." But they never did. Residents were running outside in pajamas and coats in the below freezing temperatures confused without any answers. The final day, no explanation on the security alarm issues, no apologies for the filthy rooms, no apologies for having had to move 3 times, nothing. If I were a hotel manager or owner of this property I would be sorely embarrassed. The worst part of my trip was staying in a place were I felt as though I didn't matter. Even on checkout, I stood in queue to check out, and all the workers looked at me, I'm not hard to miss because I am a very tall person. Usually eye contact is an acknowledgement that they see you and will be with you...and a man walked right passed me and they helped him before me. I stated aloud "Well, this is rude considering I was standing here waiting and this person gets helped before I do." One worker said "oh, sorry." but that was it. I only wish i would have taken pictures of the bloodstained sheets, dirty pillow cases, and that this website allowed me to upload a video of the non-draining showers... Horrible. I have stayed with Best Western hotels many times, and I cannot believe the service of this establishment. it makes me want to reconsider EVER using their hotels in the future. $724.00 of my money down the drain (it was the only drain that seemed to work at the hotel...)

BWLondonPeckham, General Manager at Best Western London Peckham Hotel, responded to this review
Dear E2581YXbrianc, Thanks very much for taking the time to write a detailed review on your experience. I am so sorry for the experience you had, totally unacceptable and I really get your trust in Best Western Hotels has been damaged. For the money you pay you can't beat it. The rooms are clean and just about big enough with air conditioning units and tea/coffee facilities. The road and other guests can be noisy, but it's London. The Italian restaurant is a little disappointing offering chicken or pizza, but it's ok if you don't want to walk into Peckham, where it's strangely difficult to find decent eateries - you have to leave the main streets and head to the arches next to Peckham Rye....

Dear Mark M Somerset, Thanks very much for review. It is our ultimate goal to offer value for money, so thank you for sharing that here. We take your comments on-board about the restaurant and I will liaise with our executive chef to see how we could enhance the offering. "Very friendly staff, good location and value but tiny single room"

09/02/2018

Stayed here as I was having dinner with a friend who lives nearby. Very reasonably priced, wonderful staff, particularly the waitresses at breakfast, clean, comfortable room but very small ! Had some problems finding the stairs when I didn't want to use the lift. Can be noisy when people shut their doors but that's true of many hotels.

"If I could give this hotel no starts I would! Shocking hotel, shocking service!"

1
06/02/2018

This hotel is absolutely shocking!!! From building work the minute we arrived to being made to find our own way through a warren of corridors (with cleaning products scattered all over the place) to a basement room that can only be described as a dungeon! No windows and barely enough room for a person to walk alongside the bed. It was so cramped we had to open the door to manoeuvre our luggage around the room! The service was shocking and it is ongoing! A complaint has been made and I am STILL waiting for a resolution - 4 months on! Absolutely disgusted with the treatment I have received so far. Do NOT book this hotel!!

"No windows, room like a dungeon!"

03/02/2018

I have stayed in many hotels but I never thought that I would stay in a hotel where the room had no external windows! I am sure the rooms in the upper part of the building are fine but if you are in the basement, you may not have a window and you will have to negotiate a rabbit warren of corridors to try and find you room. Down in the basement it really did feel claustrophobic. Having said that, the rooms were clean and neat, and freshly renovated. The price was also very good.

"Noisy Room at front of Hotel"

2
01/02/2018

All the rooms have a slightly different design to them, some of the based on Only Fool's and Horses, along with a replica Reliant in the front garden. My stay got off to a bad start as I filled the kettle, to make a coffee, whilst I unpacked. Unfortunately the bottom of the kettle was leaking and by the time I noticed most of its contents had leaked all over the desk, chair and floor. Upon reporting, reception immediately sent someone up with a replacement kettle. The room itself was at the front of the building and the windows were draughty and did nothing to subdue the outside noise, which being a busy road was constant and resulted in a poor sleep. Based on my experience of road noise, I would only stay again if I could get a room away from the front of the building. Breakfast was very good, freshly cooked and the staff were very pleasant, friendly and efficient.

"Clean and basic "

Stayed on Saturday 27th.. Found it easily enough and used the road behind the hotel for free parking. Arrived at reception to two of the most miserable unfriendly females. The one who checked us in was professional but did not understand the concept of smiling or engaging with the guest. It was a regimented procedure. You can't fault her job knowledge. Just her inability to be nice. The room was the pink and grey one on the hotel website with a double and 2 singles. It was clean and comfortable. House keeping need to double check the little things like no battery on the TV remote, we bought our own but the TV remote did not operate the TV. Didn't want to incur the wrath of the receptionist so did not mention it. Had a drink in the bar at the normal astronomical hotel prices, again served be an unsmiling man. Slept very well on the large comfy bed. Breakfast was good and the two blond foreign ladies who were waitressing were friendly and polite. A total opposite to the night prior. So good to be able to have a vegetarian breakfast too. Checked out by a make reception member on Sunday who was lovely. Polite, friendly and smiling. It's a clean, tidy, comfortable hotel which is great for a stop over.

"Value for money!!!"

27/01/2018

Is a good value for money hotel! I was there in a 4people bedroom it was a little bit small but for the money that we spend for it and the place we where (near to the center of the London) it was a very nice choice. I think for young people the hotel is almost perfect!

"One night stay"

23/01/2018

We booked as a budget hotel for a one night stay as taking our daughter to see Matilda. We had an open mind knowing we booked budget but never expected to be as disappointed as we were. We arrived Saturday 20th January to be greeted by the rudest receptionist we had ever encountered who clearly needs some hospitality training on how to greet and treat customers.Once we finally checked in after being spoken to like rubbish and made to feel very unwelcome we dropped our bags in the room which looked fairly pleasant and left for the theatre. We arrived back later that evening and went about getting ourselves ready for bed.Upon using the bathroom we found that some of the towels were dirty which wasn't pleasant. Also, the window to the room had no handle and lock and was hanging on for its dear life by a few nails. As our little one was ready for bed and so tired we couldn't ask to move rooms so late and so had to put her in bed with us as we were concerned for the security of our room being on lower ground level. The reviews about people shouting in the hallways till the early hours are also true.Terrible nights sleep thanks to that and the fear of our security due to the broken window. When asked the next morning if we enjoyed our stay my partner stressed his concerns about the window but we got the feeling there would be no follow up and anything done to rectify the broken window which I will add made the room incredibly cold.We will not be returning unfortunately.

"Decent Family Room"

4
23/01/2018

We stayed here in July 2017. The room was small but we booked it so that everyone would have their own bed. We traveled as a family of 4. The hotel was easy to use as a home base. We used local buses to get to downtown London and the sites we wanted to see. The price was reasonable, wifi was good, and our room had a view overlooking the Shard in the distance.

"Great hotel"

5
23/01/2018

Room was lovely with all amenities. Staff were friendly. Food was served quickly without skimping on quality at both breakfast and dinner. Great hotel for the price considering we were staying for 3 nights. Would stay again.

"Quirky themed rooms"

3
22/01/2018

Our stay here was pretty good considering the price. We had a family room which had an upstairs and downstairs sweet little quirky room, Unfortunately the upstairs TV did not have a remote and so couldn't use, we rang reception and a security person was sent who could not help. Two of us also slipped on the carpet on the stairs as it was badly fitted, we reported this to reception and was told they would sort it out. Breakfast was basic for the extra price paid. Parking was free to the right behind the hotel on the weekend strangely teh reception staff were unaware of this and had told us the road opposite would be better but you couldnt access this, but the room was clean and tidy and we managed to get to where we needed on trains and buses,

"I won't be coming back!"

15/01/2018

Stayed for 1 night to attend a concert. For £90 we got a basement room with a view on a pile of rubbish and a wall. Room was tiny, 2 people barely managed to move around the bad, bathroom was even smaller, hard to sit on a toilet, if someone is slightly overweight, no chance to use it. Room stank of dump and we could hear all the neighbours, sneezing, talking etc. not very impressed and won't be coming back.

"Quirky clean and friendly "

14/01/2018

Arrive and met by friendly and helpful staff got up to room wasn't the biggest room but was big enough the bathroom was very small tho both room and bathroom very clean the hotel has a only fools and horses theme in it which I found a nice touch has on site secure parking but that's is for a max of 5 cars at £15 pound a night first come bases has a great public transport route so can get around the city at ease so if your after a cheap clean hotel this is the place

"New Year's Eve stay"

5
14/01/2018

Stayed just one night for New Years. Found the room immaculate, staff friendly and location good. Would have liked to have seen more of the ‘only fools' theme throughout hotel/room though the room decor was fine and in good taste. A large, old quirky building and pleasantly surprised by the size of our room. Beds, amenities etc in room were to a good standard. We didn't use the restaurant/bar but this area looked to be okay. All in all, extremely good in price for what we got - particularly on new year in London.

"A Hostel with a nice enough Pizza"

3
07/01/2018

it is what it is . a hostel of sorts. tried the pizza in the accompanying restaurant which was decent. wifi worked fine. apart from that everything was a bit middle of the road but I suppose that's what you expect from a best western hotel. fair price I would say. decor is a bit 80's children's bedroom.

"Cheap and handy"

4
06/01/2018

We booked this hotel for the cost which was very good, probably as not central London. However there is good public transport nearby. Nice clean and comfortable rooms and perfectly adequate for what we wanted. Only problem I had was that I spent the night feeling very cold, as we checked in at almost 11pm we didn't realise we would have had to ask for a heater. We didn't eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food.

"Best western, indeed!"

30/12/2017

Very affordable prices, nice rooms, qualified, prepared and kind personnel: unfortunately the main lift was off, due to restoring. Anyway, ideal place for surface buses to Westminster Trafalgar Piccadilly Regent's, Oxford street (12) and to Victoria Station - Backingam Palace (36). Complaint: Her Majesty was not properly informed of our arrival by the hotel's staff: we could not drink a tea at 5.00 as promised. Too bad.

"Good hotel."

30/12/2017

We had a good stay for four nights to visit our daughter who is living in London. Located in Peckham, South London it is handy for bus and train transport. One bus - number 63 - took us all the way from Kings Cross rail station to Peckham for £1.50 only. Hotel and room were very clean and well maintained. Very reasonable room rates at £53 p night incl continental breakfast. Good selection at breakfast and cooked breakfast only £1 extra. Our room in basement (no window but had aircon) with large double bed was small but had an ensuite, and 40" tv. All necessary facilities were in the room. On move in day there were 2 bottles of water and 2 bags crisps provided also - nice touch. There was a pizza restaurant also. Summary? Great for a visit to London for leisure or business, if you are going to use as a base. Edward

"Quirky, Cramped, Cute."

30/12/2017

Stayed here for a week during Christmas. Here is a bit of a smattering of impressions that I got from our stay. The Hotel location is near to public transport but away from the heart of London itself. Which is perhaps why the hotel was so affordable. The Peckham Rye train stop is ~1 mile away, while the bus stop is almost in front of the Hotel. When we first looked into the room my wife said "No Way! It's too tiny", then when we went in that changed to "No way, there's stairs in here!" Having a room for us, and a second floor for the kids was a pleasant surprise. The bathroom was small/modest, with a good size shower. The room temperature didn't regulate well. The upstairs would get hot, while the down would be frigid. Storage space was hard to come by. The room-space was dominated by the beds, with small nightstands by each one and miniscule desk by the bed on the bottom floor. The front desk would have happily taken our suitcases, but there was just nowhere to place the clothing if we didn't keep them. This made navigating the room a bit tricky with the bulky suitcases taking up most of the walking lanes. The breakfast was a good deal. A substantial amount of good food for a fair price. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. They booked taxis, and made restaurant recommendations. They had an Italian style restaurant inside the hotel open for dinners that we didn't use so I can't comment to its quality, only its presence. (smelled great though). If asked, I would stay here again. For the price we paid the value we received was well delivered.

27/12/2017

This hotel has been converted from an old Victorian building so the layout is a bit higgledy piggly. My double king room was a bit cramped for space but nevertheless represented good value for money . The car parking is very limited and can be difficult to exit depending on vehicle sizes already there . The staff were helpful , cooperative and friendly. The transport connections are excellent with the frequent number 12 taking you to Westminster , Whitehall , Trafalgar Square and the West End. Alight at The Elephant and Castle for access to the Underground. There is also Peckham Rye nearby above- ground Railway station which will take you to London Bridge etc. If you want to eat cheaply there are nearby takeaway food outlets.

"Good service"

3
22/12/2017

Maybe not the most modern hotel but clean and very friendly and helpful staff. Price was cheap for anywhere in the UK and for sure not London prices. I had a car trailer with me and that was no problem as far as parking was concerned.

"Very nice place, so clean, some attention to detail, clocks in room don't work, coffee at breakfast is shocking. Loved t"

4
17/12/2017

Nice very clean place, some minor details no battery in clocks in rm one bulb out, breakfast is not organised and queue for coffee is shocking, you gave your rm no and breakfast order and then seated had to get your own coffe which was very nice but breakfast was already on table not allowing you to have time for continental or other choices. Other choices was quite vast yoghurt fruit toast coissunt sausages bacon black pudding toms mushrooms bread bread bread bread bread

"Great Value for Money"

16/12/2017

The hotel itself is located in Peckham. The rooms are stanard London size and this for a great price. Nevertheless the location of the hotel is a bit of a bummer, even though there's loads of bus-lines going to central London it takes about 30-40 minutes (depending on Traffic)to get to Trafalgar Square or Victoria-Station

"Welcoming manager, nice room. "

"Very bad management and accomodation left us a bitter taste, never again"

10/12/2017

Me and my wife had our trip to London, as well as our accommodation booked to Best Western hotel, scheduled 5 months ahead. The hotel tried to charge my card (even tho in booking.com it was mentioned clearly that i won't be charged unti I reach hotel). I changed 2 cards to my booking both linked to accounts with balance of over 200 euro. They failed to charge my cards for reasons unknown to me (I contacted my bank and they said the cards were fine and also I was using those cards without problem). After many phone calls and contacts with the hotel via booking.com in order to find a solution to this matter, the hotel cancelled the reservation 2 days before my 5 months ahead planned trip! I tried to contact the hotel manager but they didn't even bothered to talk to find a solution and just cancelled it! The employee of booking.com said the hotel's manager didn't even want to talk with me! Then I had to rebook (of course with an increase to the value of the room of 60 gbp due to the last minute booking!). Upon arriving to the hotel we paid the whole amount of our accommodation upfront. When we reached the room we found out that the AC system was not working thus the room was cold.We requested a fix or a change to another room but they couldn't fix it and the hotel was fully booked (according to the receptionist) . They just gave us a small heater which needed more than half hour to start warming the room, resulting in sleeping only a few hours our first night because of the cold (my wife has low blood pressure so she needs a lot of warmth). Another minus was that we needed a EU to UK socket adapter to charge our phones and every day we had the same response from the reception that all their adapters were given and we should try asking the next morning. Of course every morning of our full accommodation they had no adapter for us. Luckily the TV had a USB port so we could charge but with a risk of damaging the battery life of our phones due to the low power given from a USB port. The room had no sound proof at all so we could hear with every little detail sounds from all of surrounding rooms and also from the outer area. On the plus side the cleaning service was excellent, every day we found ourselves a clean room with clean towels. Also the bus station was very near to the hotel (in contrary to the subway station tho which was not). Overall our experience with the hotel's management which was very cold mannered (left us without a room 2 days before my trip without letting me settle the matter) and the hotel itself was bad and unsatisfying. They badly lack communication skills when a matter with a customer comes up.

07/12/2017

Stayed for one night. Nice building but strange smell (almost like a musty damp smell) throughout. My room was comfortable but on level -1 so felt a little dungeon like. Clean & I slept very well. Had a meal in the hotel pizza restaurant which was a good price and tasty. The breakfast wasn't great - cheap produce & fairly tasteless. The hotel was easy to walk to from Peckham Rye station. I would consider staying here again if I needed to stay in the area

""Small Double""

4
05/12/2017

This hotel was very good value for money, and when they said the room was a "small double" they weren't joking! However it had everything we needed for a one night stay. The bathroom was tiny, being an amply curvaceous size sixteen woman, i struggled to squeeze through the small gap in the shower screen to get into the shower. When i sat on the toilet, bits of me rested on the sink ! (I leave it to your imagination!) If you just need a clean comfortable place to stay and you are on a budget, this hotel would certainly fit the bill. Maybe pack earplugs, i was woken by someone running up and down the corridor at three in the morning..

"Small and Layout with a maze"

3
01/12/2017

The rooms were small. We had booked 3 rooms and all 3 rooms were allotted on different floors. Reaching from 1 room to the other was like playing a maze game and opening 1 door after the other, climbing stairs. Breakfast was fine. The staff was friendly. The rooms didn't looks clean with the sheets having some dirt marks on them. Moving around the room with your luggage there was also not easy, but we managed it for a 1 night stay

"vERY COMFORTABLE HOTEL IN A GOOD POSITION"

29/11/2017

The hotel is in a good position; the staff is very professional, Tommaso at the front desk very kind and helpful; breakfast in the morning is very nice and the staff is very nice ; Marina and the others girls are very nice, helpful and kind. Thanks so much for the nice stay

"Nice Room, original Decor"

4
27/11/2017

Stayed 1 night at this hotel, which was nice, convenient and was exactly what we were looking for. Had a nice firm mattress, heating/aircon if required, nice tidy bathroom and within a minutes walk of the nearest bus stop. We stayed in Room 252 which looked onto the side street and had an entrance for us and the adjoining room. Breakfast was nice too, and we were upraised that this was included in the price that we had paid. The only faults are that soft closing doors would be greatly appreciated, as the doors slammed every time someone came in, waking us up. The other one was that there appears to be a gap at the bottom of the window, resulting in no sound proofing from outside noises

"Good hotel"

"Small , smelly with lack of welcoming attitude"

2
22/11/2017

Checked in On 12 November around between 4 /5 in the evening . First impression of the Hotel was ok although not adequate of light out side considering it is hotel In the Reception, there was one dark colour skin man and one girl but not keen on welcoming the guest rather than engaging on their own . Did not see excitement on them seeing the guest in front of them . Man with cross hand seating in the chair and girl doing something in her computer. May be this is the normal way to welcome the Guest in best western way. I suppose seeing customer with luggage, dark colour skin man in the reception can offer his help in stead of talking with other staff member. This will really helps for elderly customer coming after long flight. Room was ok not a big size , which can do the job for the tourist coming to find the bed after all day out. Room definitely need love and care . walls are cracking and peeling with smell of damp. Bed was comfortable , mattress was good. Shower with good proportion of hot water but hardly open the bathroom door fully. Breakfast next morning was ok considering price you paying for the English breakfast, I think its small portion with one egg , one sausage and one beacon one slice of tomato with few mushrooms. Although English breakfast cover Buffet Breakfast other wise you wont get full up. Breakfast hall looks nice and open with natural lights. waitress are good in service and friendly. Peckham area it self has its reputation, due to frequent bus from outside the street with in 200 yards travel makes convenient to centre London. Bar opens until 11pm but did not have dinner . Just one small suggestion for bar staff to talk sensibly and listen to customer need. Over all Budget Hotel with short stay you can consider.

17/11/2017

The hotel is located about 25 minutes from central London. The rooms, though small, are clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are also clean and functional. My room was in the basement and didn't have a window, but it was told when I made the booking. The restuarant was good and the breakfast fare was also good. Although the location is not at London central, there are frequent buses (every 2 -3 minutes) that go into London. The bus stop in just in front of the hotel, which makes it quite convenient. The hotel is also a 5 minute walk away from Peckham town, where there are plenty of food shops, supermarkets and departmental stores.

16/11/2017

We stayed for 2 nights for a family wedding and had 2 rooms. One with a wet room for my 94 year old mother-in-law and a double room for my husband and I. Both rooms were spotlessly clean and newly refurbished in 'Dell Boy' taste. The staff were amazing; really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely go back again. You can park in the neighboring street-which is free. But if you want to pay for a space on site, just make sure you book it in advance.

From the start I knew the value of my money from the start off as when we check ed in we were directed 2 the basement which where our room was when got in I realised there was no light coming from the window and it was freezing as well with no carpet on the floor and no radiators we had 2 make do with a cooler/heater system on the wall which we had 2 turn on a wee while before getting out of bed so we weren't froze apart from that the room was clean so couldn't complain about that and the restaurant was good for starting out in the morning the breakfast was good good way 2 start the day off before a ten minute walk to the overground! So overall the stay wasn't 2 bad

"Going to a high at Brixton academy"

5
15/11/2017

Stayed at the best Western for somewhere to crash after a gig at Brixton academy. Git to say I was very impressed. Staff were friendly and very helpful and the hotel.is ideally situated. Come out the hotel and turn left to first bud stop. Get on 345 to South Kensington and it drops you right outside the door if the academy. Room was great and well maintained. Bed big enough to fully "starfish" and not be anywhere near the edges. The bathroom was spotlessly clean as was the room and I admit to being a bit fussy in bathroom cleanliness. Room also had heat / aircon. Could not fault the hotel and would recommend for anyone wanting digs at a reasonable price. Also really easy to get to central London from here. Again just go.to that bus stop.

"Tiny room that smelt of stale smoke. "

2
06/11/2017

Me and my boyfriend booked the hotel about 5 weeks in advance, admittedly we chose to stay here as it seemed cheap (£126 for 2 nights), we've stayed at Best Western before and enjoy it. We arrived an hour earlier than the check in time and the lady on reception said our room was ready so we could check in early which we were happy about as we were eager to drop our luggage off and travel to the City Centre. We paid £30 to park the car in their car park for 2 nights. Having seen that the area was very rough we decided it would be the best option. We were pointed in the direction of our room which was in the basement area down a maze of corridors. The Hall ways had a very odd smell which was off putting. When we reached the basement floor the cleaners had left hoovers and carts in the hall so we had to climb over things with our luggage. We arrived at our room which was the last one tucked in to the corner of the basement and couldn't even open the door properly as it was that small. The worst part about the hotel is that someone had been smoking in the room and it smelt VILE like stale smoke which lingered around the whole two days we were there, I could even smell it on my coat when we were travelling home. I don't know why we weren't given another room because the cleaner must've smelt it, eager to leave we dropped our things off in the tiny room and left. We returned about midnight that night and were greeted by the same smell. We ended up having to move the bed around as we couldn't walk around the room it was that smell so my side was pushed up against the wall. The next morning we had a football match to attend so left early and didn't return until late that night, we left the sign out to have our room cleaned while we were out, it had been tidied up when we returned but the smell of smoke was worse than when we left (perhaps the cleaners smoking down there)! We were dying for a decent cup of tea, not wanting to face the not so nice complimentary ones we decided to spend £5 on two cups of tea at the bar, my boyfriend returned with two cups with Luke warm water, two of the complimentary Tetley teabags and the complimentary milk! How they can charge him a fiver for something that is meant to be free is disgusting. That night I started to feel anxious, the room was so small, no window, my asthma was bad from the smells and the dampness of the basement and I started to panic about what we would do in case of a fire. Was so relieved to leave the hotel this morning I don't think I could've stayed another night. We didn't try the food as we were not told anything about dinner/breakfast times when we checked in, if we had been informed we would've probably opted to eat there but unfortunately for them we didn't know so spent our money elsewhere. The hotel did seem clean but it smelt so badly of bleach and the smell the bleach is trying to hide. I find it awful that we'd been put in a room that stunk of stale smoke, it made me feel ill. Also an idea might be to clearly let the guests that you're sticking down in a tiny room in a basement what they need to do in case of a fire.

Stopped here for 2 nights whilst in Peckham, only fools and horses themed hotel. All I can say is what a terrible place, on walking up to the hotel reception via the entrance we came across a lad drugged out of his head twitching all over the place, couldn't walk , see or function at all. I informed the door man he needed hospital attention but he wasn't bothered. Checked in, ground floor . Room was like a prison cell, very rough furniture, small but clean. Dined in , by reception. Menu was a joke, pizza or chicken . We ordered chicken to be told there was none left as they had sold 20 that day. I replied that I could probably sell 20 chickens in a day, it was no great achievement ! Had pizza instead( a choice of 3 types) due to no chicken. We then witnessed the little Italian waiter having an argument with the barman. He was very very stressed out, don't know why as there was only 10 people in at the most . Horrible ghetto area, very , very unsafe at night. Car park always full so forced to leave van on the council estate. Very unsafe. Not for families at all. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay away please.

I always book this hotel when my family is coming over . This time my sister came with 2 kids and her husband. I booked a family room ,even though the room was ok I don't think 2 bunk beds is ideal for a family. breakfast was good

"Training Course"

25/10/2017

I booked this hotel whilst attending a training course. The main reason being it was cheap and close to where the course was. Check in was quick and easy, the room was modern and clean. I heard no noise considering it was on a main busy road in Peckham. Breakfast was fantastic!

The hotel is a bit far from the city cente. You can take the bus No. 12 (arrives every 5-8 minutes) and you will be at Westminster in about half an hour. The bus station is only a 1 minute foot walk from the hotel. We landed at London Gatwick so we had to take the train to the hotel which took us about one hour. The surrounding of the hotel looks sordid and we did not like it. There is a lot of poverty and the streets and buildings are dirty. The staff is friendly and helped us to find the best direction to the city center. Our room was clean but very small. There was a TV, wardrobe, alarm, water boiler with tea and coffee, no safe and no minibar. The hotel is a bit noisy, so we heard all our neighbors. The shower was good with a strong water jet and hot/cold worked. We had the full english breakfast for 7.50£ which includes the continental breakfast. The continental breakfast is 6.50£ and you can choose from some sorts of bread, some fruits, cheese and sorts of ham/salami but I would say that the selection is quite poor. So the next two days we decided to have our breakfast in the city. The hotel has a pizzeria with excellent pizza and we ate there on the second day. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The pizza was with a thin dough and tasted like in Italy. I had the one with parma ham and my girlfriend the one with ham. If you stay in this hotel, try their pizzas!

Great Hotel with excellent staff. Breakfast bit over priced for the quantity provided. Rooms are great and clean . Staff are really helpful. Location is ok. Hotel need bit of refurb but rooms are kept clean. You have luggage leaving facility which is great.

"Very budget feel and look to hotel"

17/10/2017

There is only street parking available round the property and mostly permit parking Monday to Friday so wouldn't recommend for people travelling in a car. The room was absolutely tiny and claustrophobic and we had to sit sideways on the toilet as there wasn't enough room in the bathroom. The bed was very uncomfortable and bedding and towels had a very grubby look to them with rips in the bedding. The restaurant looked nice though although we didn't eat there and the staff were friendly enough. We felt, however that the room let the hotel down as it just felt grubby and like student halls.

"Budget hotel"

16/10/2017

Hotel was quirky but very basic. Rooms were tiny. Booked as a last minute thing the old Only Fools and Horses theme with some Cockney cheek made me book. Many many nationalities stay here and staff are gifted as I heard the speak many languages waiting on reception. Needs a bit of a touch up and a door man "bouncer" stood on reception didn't look right at all. Area is typical Outside the central bubble, run down and exspensive. All in all cheap budget hotel with a few parking spaces.

16/10/2017

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights whilst visiting our daughter who lives in Peckham The hotel was ideal as it was only a 10 minute walk from her flat. We had a double room with king size bed and had plenty of room. Both the room and the shower room were very clean and towels changed daily. We ate breakfast both mornings and whilst it was very busy on the Sunday morning, the staff coped admirably and we enjoyed a very nice English breakfast. I would recommend this hotel as it is very reasonably priced for London and we have already booked to come back in February to visit our daughter again.

"Convenient location, great sized family room"

16/10/2017

We stayed at the hotel for one night while visiting London for a wedding. Family of five, two adults and three children. Great size and comfort in the family room. Unfortunately, we all had freezing cold showers in the morning, maybe as we were at the top of the building. Other than that, comfortable stay...

"Great for Weekend away with Friends"

4
12/10/2017

This little gem is 'Only Fools & Horses' themed. Stayed for 2 nights as a birthday treat with friends as not too far from O2 Brixton Academy (not exactly walking distance but approx. £8 in a cab). We stayed in a room to the rear of the building which is a newer build. The room was clean, and large for London with a double and a single bed, without being overly cramped. Shower/toilet perfectly adequate (& clean). Parking available on site for an additional fee, although unusually for London there is also free parking off site very close by. Large open lobby, staff were welcoming and helpful. Not ideal for a romantic weekend (unless you're particularly keen on Del Boy etc!), but really good for groups of friends.

"Good Hotel with great staff"

11/10/2017

I stayed for 8 nights , very much like it. Room is cleaned every day. I found staffs are very friendly. Staff diren went extra mile to help me to find my flight ticket which i left in Ireland during my stay. Food and drink is very nice to have inside the Hotel. Street bit noisy if you are sound sleeper ask for indie room.

"Good and clean"

03/10/2017

Good hotel with clean rooms; in a busy area, close to rail station, so you can pretty easily get to the city center. There are a lot of shops nearby, like Lidl. It's better to ask for a room not facing the street, beacause it can get too loud. Windows and doors are not noiseproof. We had a room in the back and it was quiet and nice. Breakfast is also great - a lot of choice for a continental type (eggs, ham, cheese, toast, muffins, butter, jam... coffee machine, juices and water). You can also order traditional english breakfast.

"Good keep it up"

30/09/2017

Hotel is nice rooms are clean and fresh. Room are clean every day. Although size is very small with narrow space around the bed. Breakfast is good freshly cooked English breakfast in £7.50 which makes you full up for the day. Well bus link to centre. Staff have very well attitude with ready to help for any enquiry you put forward. I would recommend this hotel.

An economic hotel, good options of transportation links, good breakfast with a kind staff, small room but confortable, wifi available but not excepcional, bus stop at front door. A low cost option indeed. The check in should be earlier. My room was not cleaned in a day and I don't know if it happened because the label indicating to clean the room was not left outside the room's door.

"Very pleasant hotel "

21/09/2017

We have previously stayed at Best Western in Peckham so we knew what to expect. The rooms were very clean both times and provide all you would need. Toiletries, hair dryer, tea, coffee all supplied within the room. The beds are very comfortable and the room was spotless. This particular room was very small but cannot complain for the excellent price and it does clearly state small double. Would highly recommend this hotel, we have family in Peckham so it is perfect but would always be ok if you didn't mind travelling into the centre. Great breakfast also available but a few places to eat lose by if not.

"A bit overpriced for the quality of the room"

2
21/09/2017

The room we were given was very small with no widows and a not particularly comfy bed. The area (Peckham) is also not very nice. The most redeeming feature was that the cleaning staff did a good job. There was also an evening where the fire alarm went off for quite a while before it stopped without any explanation apart from a member of staff saying "don't worry". In my opinion they have crammed way too many rooms into the building (some even under ground).

"Things to know before you go"

19/09/2017

We stayed 9 nights comfortably at this hotel. It was our first trip to London and it had taken a long time to find a hotel room for 3 people for $100Cad per night. We took the train from the airport and pulled our luggage the 10-12 min walk (not 3min as suggested by the hotel) from Peckham Rye station. (You do not need the more expensive Gatwick Express train as you do not need to go all the way to Victoria station). As you leave the train station; turn left at the info sign right outside and walk that direction to the street called Holly Grove. This gives you a pleasant pretty walk to the hotel as opposed to walking straight out and walking through dirty streets and bad smells of the markets. As we did not know this trick yet we took the unpleasant route and became concerned that we had picked a bad part of town for our stay. Arriving at the hotel we were further concerned at the stale air and unfinished reno work in the lobby. Then we were surprised to be asked to pay for all 9 nights up front. A funky smell in the hallway only seemed to have confirmed my fears but when we opened the room door, the air was fresh and clean. The room looked as expected and everything looked clean and tidy. Pulling down the bedcovers revealed a small stain on the bottom sheet which convinced me I had made a horrible mistake and reduced me to tears. A quick call downstairs had instant response with a manager and a housekeeper apologizing and quickly remaking the bed. That was the last problem we ever had with our choice of hotel. We happily stayed 9 nights. It has 24h bus service right outside that take you right to City center or to underground stations without changing busses. The housekeeping made up the room nicely every day (but didn't change the sheets. I think we started with two sheets but ended up with only one for the last week or so.) The bathroom was always clean but the toilet is so close to the wall you can't touch your toes without hitting your head. You do not get face cloths so bring your own. There is a grocery store a short walk away which had shockingly cheap food. There is no refrigerator but we bought fresh fruit and baking that provided all our breakfasts. The fire doors in the hotel are loud when people bang them but we never heard noise from another room during our entire stay. Our room was to have a King bed and a single but it was closer to the size of a queen bed in Canada. The wifi was excellent and was strong enough to phone home to Canada free using facebook messenger. We had planned to get a sim card in London but we never bothered. Google maps was excellent at choosing bus routes for each days adventures. I printed off directions to many major sites while at home which proved very useful. I would suggest keeping your luggage to one large rolling suitcase. Two would have been impossible to handle with the stairs at train stations and the walk to the hotel. Having said that, do pack enough clothes to avoid laundry or be prepared to wash it in the sink and wait a long time for it to dry. They do not do laundry at the hotel but arrange to send it out which made the cost formidable. We did not see a laundromat anywhere during our stay. Thankfully we packed packets of Tide. I know that we would have had a much better first impression of the hotel had we walked up Holly Grove and seen parks and gardens and cute London homes. Even with the rough start I would happily stay again for the price and the ease of travel.

"Affortable hotel in the edge of centre of London"

19/09/2017

Freshly renewed hotel with clean room, situated in zone 2 of London, you can take many buses to the attractions (usually located in zone 1 & 2 of London) just in front of the hotel for only 1-2 walk. 5 minutes bus journey to New Cross Gate station and have many shops and restaurants there. Our double room located in B1 which you need to go through many doors before we arrived our room. Breakfast are worth for money as the living cost in London is very high. They help us to print out the broading pass (you need to send to the hotel email address) free of charge as we take budget airline - Ryanair to Prague after our London trip and Ryanair charge guest for not on-line check in and without print out broading pass (non EU resident only and EU can use mobile broading pass).

"Great Location for Value you pay"

there are so many buses near here. it is very good! We really enjoyed the stay in Room although room was on basement but was clean . They make the bed every day but linen change once in a 4 days . I really liked detail eyes of house keeper Julia and Gabriela to keep room fresh. Breakfast with £6.50 continental and £7.50 is worth. Reception very welcoming , friendly Joanna feniuk, Joanna chica, dhiren and security man who helped us to take our baggage weight. we are very happy with the energy of all the staffs. You guys are well come to Brazil some time.

Well thought getting a deal when booked a stay here for the price inside the m25.... Massive 7 bay car park that was "full" but after checking in 3 became spare after I had already managed to find on street parking opposite hotel Room was rather smaller than expected fir double bed good job on my own as 2 people would clash in there. Bathroom was tiny, couldn't even open door fully. Bit OTT on the theme Wouldn't recommend stay

"Mixed experience"

13/09/2017

Good location, and value. Stayed twice in two weeks as husband was having surgery which was cancelled 1st time. Basement room was fine apart from bathroom handle coming off in my hand and staff having an arguement outside the door. Restaurant - poor lad was run off his feet and obviously new as was trying to tell me no such thing as a quattro fromaggi pizza (4 cheese) even though I showed him on the menu! Female in charge of the restaurant was abrupt with her handling of our breakfast order - she insisted we had not prepaid for the breakfast - we had not been given a voucher - yet on checking after breakfast at the reception they clearly showed us prepaid breakfast on the computer - a hassle we didn't need - why could she not check this, we are the guests? 2nd stay - room just for me as husband finally had a bed. After an exhausting emotional day I was looking forward to sleep - no such luck, room was in corridor behind reception extremely noisey, doors banging all night. i complained and the staff were lovely and moved me up to a very quiet room at the back and top. Wobbly door handle to bathroom again though so I treated it with care! Have to praise the manager and the reception staff though - all very friendly, helpful and understanding.

"Small but comfortable "

3
13/09/2017

The hotel is quite nice with some interesting quirky touches. The room was clean and comfortable but was very small. I was only in it to sleep and shower so was fine for my purposes. If you were in the room for extended periods for working etc then I believe it would be too small. The corridors of the hotel were quite untidy and messy. The staff were efficient and friendly. I recommend it for a no frills short stay.

"Funny old place"

3
12/09/2017

Bit quirky- lots of references to Only Fools and Horses - ok if you like that sort of thing. Rambling place, our room was out through another exit up some stairs and then another set. Room was tiny but adequate for what we needed and clean. Beds were comfortable. Had the breakfast for £7.50 the next day which was good values. The star of the show was the receptionist, so helpful, unfortunately I didn't get his name.

"Not as good as my previous stay"

3
10/09/2017

This was my second stay at the Best Western Peckham Hotel, I had a good welcome to the hotel. I wasn't welcomed as a BW Reward member and my rewards record was not on the system even though I booked through the scheme. The room was on the small side with everything that was needed for a short stay, comfortable bed, good aircon, large TV with a wide selection of freeview channels, clock radio and a massive wall clock but unfortunately it didn't work. The bathroom was tiny but fine with a good shower and wall mounted toiletries. My main gripe is that on my previous stay I avoided booking a basic room and a received a large room and even received a small hamper of snacks, however on my latest visit I paid for the same grade of room paying a lot more money and received a much smaller room without the perks. The stay was fine but there seems to be no consistency to what room is given for the price paid.

"Pleasant Value for Money Stay in Hotel With Distinctive Character"

4
07/09/2017

Stayed here for 2 nights in late August 2017 on a weekend break. I got what I considered a great value for money deal for a hotel located in London. Pros: 1. My room on the floor below reception level (level -1) was on the small side in terms of size for a single room but was otherwise fine in having everything I needed and the bed was very comfortable. 2. The hotel has a nice distinctive modern character in terms of its design and theme. Fans (like me) of the classic British comedy TV series Only Fools and Horses will be amused by the replica of Rodney and Dellboy's means of transport located prominently on the hotel grounds (fully in keeping with the Peckham location of the hotel). 3. Staff were friendly and the security guards were particularly helpful with giving me directions for public transport when the reception staff were fully occupied. Cons: 1. The location of the hotel relative to the main tourist sites located elsewhere in the city is not ideal. 2. When I was in my hotel room, noise from nearby hotel rooms and the corridor seemed to be far more audible in my room than it should be. This disrupted my getting to sleep one night and could be an issue for light sleepers. 3. The breakfast served in the hotel (I had the full English once) was acceptable but in my opinion overpriced. There are better value options outside the hotel if you have the time to look around for them.

"Disappointing"

3
05/09/2017

Such a shame..... the staff were friendly and helpful. The decor was funky and recently refurbished. But the noise was beyond. There was no sound proofing between rooms st all. We could hear everything from the rooms either side. We stayed for 2 nights. The first night was awful, we had a basement room with a window level with the street. We thought we were under siege at one point due to the noise from the street and the room next door, so no sleep that night. The following morning I asked to move rooms which we did with no problem at all. The new room was on the 2nd floor at the back of the hotel.....perfect! Until someone moved into the room next door. Again no sound proofing. We could even hear them burp. So sadly we won't be staying there again. Such a shame it could be a lovely hotel otherwise

"Stress free stay at Peckham Lodge"

05/09/2017

Staying here because my dad was in Kings hospital. The staff could not have been more accommodating. Steven the on duty manager assured us that anything we needed he would help with. The hotel is modern in décor, brightly coloured and on trend with the Only Fools and Horses theme. Our twin room wasn't big, but how much room do you need to sleep in? The housekeeping was excellent, the bedroom and bathroom were spotless. Joanna on Reception was excellent, very helpful while we were waiting to collect dad. Roland was an excellent waiter in the Pizzapolli restaurant, friendly, helpful and courteous. We didn't have breakfast but would highly recommend the Pizzapoli restaurant within the hotel, we sat near to the open oven and watched as chef made each pizza up, food menu was very reasonably priced, drinks a bit steep, but an enjoyable evening. Only down side was the parking, limited to 6 spaces, we were lucky enough to get one. Be prepared for outside noise, quiet inside, sirens are quite common - this is London!

"Does the job for a city break"

3
02/09/2017

The room was very clean and well presented. The room was very compact but did the job for one night in London. There are no frills, just a room. No nice views. It cost £10 to get to the centre of London in a taxi or the tube was a 10 minute walk away. We didn't have breakfast here just the room.

This has to be one of the best Hotels in the UK I have always had great memories of this hotel from our first visit in 2013 to today, the atmosphere has not changed even though the Hotel has been refurbished it still has a great feel .

"Tiny Rooms but CLEAN"

3
17/08/2017

This was the first stop on my most recent 15 day trip to the UK. Travelled in a group of 32 people and we stayed here for 2 nights. I was told by 2 Londoners that Peckham is a rough part of town. If this hotel wasn't booked by the group, I seriously doubt it is a hotel I would book. We took the train in from Heatherow, which took about 2 hours. After travelling for 7 hours by plane and then 2 hours by train, we took a taxi from the Peckham train station for about 7 GBP -- we were told it was about a 15 minute walk. The rooms are super tiny -- yes European hotel rooms are tiny compared to US hotel rooms, but these rooms were TINY. But they were very clean and neat, with lovely décor. There is a lift, but it does not go to every floor or every part of the hotel, so be prepared to carry your luggage to your room. Some rooms are outside of the hotel, so you may have to walk outside to get to the other building. On our first night there for dinner, the hotel ran out of food for our group of 32. Not sure if this was the hotels fault or the organizer of the tour, but they ran out of food. The servers at dinner seemed a little frazzled and unprepared for our group. Breakfast was your typical English breakfast, which I did not eat. At breakfast, I only had tea, but the machine for hot beverages disperses hot water, tea, coffee and milk. So you will have a little of everything in your cup which was gross. I asked the server for a separate hot water dispenser and they said they do not have one. I did mention to the front desk upon my departure that it might be a good idea to have separate hot water. He said he would pass the suggestion on to the manager. The hotel staff was very friendly, professional and helpful.

"Perfect for our one night stop!"

"simply not up to par"

10/08/2017

Upon out arrival, the linen were dirty, so we had them replaced. Overall, with a few exceptions, the staff, including the reception desk, were disinterested and rude. One morning a man, probably an employee, though not a member of the cleaning staff, used a key and wanted to get in our room, then, noticing that the room was not empty, excused himself and left. An uncomfortable feeling of lack of safety and privacy. The window was close to the ceiling and inoperable, hence the terrible noise from the traffic outside, the cold etc. This hotel was a total disappointment. I do not recommend it and will not stay at it in the future.

"good hotel but could be better"

09/08/2017

My family and I have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. We are very pleased with the hotel and standard of service we received and there are excellent transport links by bus to central London. The bus can take a long while because of heavy traffic. However certain things need to be improved here. When you go for breakfast you have to first get a voucher from reception which can be very annoying and time consuming. I have never seen this anywhere else. Also most of the reception staff are helpful but not all.The cleaning staff are very friendly. Our triple room was very small but clean and good for the price. There were often long delays at breakfast time waiting to use the coffee machine or in our case just getting hot water to make tea. A second hot water boiler is needed here. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and believe it was a good choice.

"Best... no, worst Western"

totally disappointing. I expect a minimum standard from Best Western and this place fell far short. Scruffy, shoddy and appalling service. Have always relied on the brand in the past but feel badly let down.

Well never stayed here before checked in reception staff very helpful and friendly. Got to my room very small room bed not very comfortable. Bathroom was very small shower not very good and water was only warm wouldnt get very hot. Room was overlooking main road so was very noisy all night didn't sleep very well. Went down for breakfast that was pre paid for by company. No one asked if i wanted cooked breakfast so only had toast. Couldn't even have juice as machine was only dispensing water. Member of staff o yeh we been having trouble with it for weeks. Would not stay here again shame as Best Western Hotels are normally very good

"Long Weekend in London"

3
23/07/2017

I chose this hotel after reading reviews and finding it is outside the congestion zone and I also found £5 per night parking across the road. Now the hotel is themed throughout in an Only Fools and horses style. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the room was quite clean and the bed comfortable but the general size was very small. The shower room was lovely but again very small indeed if you are of a larger persuasion you might struggle to use the facilities in this room. Although the shower is quite large. The flooring in the whole bedroom and shower room was vinyl flooring which I think might have something to do with the contractors which use the hotel Mon to Friday. The bar / dining area was like a school canteen and lacked any warmth. The prices for drinks were quite high I thought and they do not do Guinness. It was ok as a hotel but I would not return.

"Great staff and location"

21/07/2017

Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpfull staff. Especially 2 Joanna's and Rajan from reception. The security Valery help me with my luggages and guide to my room. The hotel location is great. You can go to the city centre by bus, just 2min walk to the bus stop.

"Poor service and tiny rooms"

2
19/07/2017

Stayed at this hotel for the weekend, the reception service was poor and they had attitude, the room need a map to find, it was small, you could hear the traffic noise all night as it is situated on a main road. I stayed in a only fools and horses room, the clock did not work the hands were bent, the room was tiny, no draws to put any underwear away, just an open hanging space with no doors, very poor for the price.

"Nice modern hotel "

18/07/2017

Nice, fresh modern rooms. Staff are lovely and helpful. Our room was quite small however was fine for what we needed it for. We stayed for 3 nights and were recovering from jet lag for most of it. Close to public transport, Peckham rye is the closest national rail, elephant and castle is the closest underground which you can walk from from takes approx 30 mins. Bus stop right outside, supermarket close by. The restaurant mainly serves pizza but they are amazing and breakfast is good for £7.50 For full cooked breakfast and buffet. We walked to Buckingham palace and Big Ben from the hotel. 40 mins from Camden markets in car. Has wifi which works well and all the rooms are lovely and clean.

"EXCELLENT HOTEL"

17/07/2017

The design and the architecture attracts the eye by simply passing in front of it, you wont miss it. As for the rooms, the corridors, the lobby and every space in the hotel... I found them very clean, carefully decorated with excellent arrangement which makes it a cozy environment, excellent when returning from a city walk. The staff is simply one of the best I have seen. They are very organized and will always assist with a big smile.

14/07/2017

Having encountered one or two issues with the hotel I have to say that the Manager Dhiren Gautam went out of his way to Listen - understand- and Respond! Having been moved to one of the newly refurbished rooms I encountered a very different scenario and enjoyed a more than comfortable stay . The place is in the process of an update and I feel certain that the cosmetic improvements will make a huge difference . The manager has a very ' hands on ' proactive approach and this rubs off on his staff in a positive way . Although the distance out from central London appears a bit limiting it's actually not too bad and the hotel is really close to good bus links . I would certainly return again .

"Foul smell"

1
12/07/2017

Basement room strong smell of bleach, this turned out to be a severe problem with the drainage that appears to have been ongoing and a bigger problem. No one advised of any concerns. But by late evening the stench from the ensuite was absolutely "foul." Unfortunately in the morning I found the kitchen also located in the basement had been flooded. However, one of the staff mentioned that "every time it rains this happens" so only a Continental breakfast available.

BWLondonPeckham, General Manager at Best Western London Peckham Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your feedback, I'm sorry to hear that you experienced a problem with the drainage in the Hotel, With regards to the Kitchen Flooding, apologise for this happening, contractors have been working on this issue for sometime, we are in the middle of renovating our hotel and the breakfast has now been moved to the ground floor in our new restaurant so that the issue with our basement area can be resolved. Sorry you experienced this problem, Please contact me on [email protected] or 02077014222 so we can discuss your stay further. Kind Regards Steve Glass

"SMALL rooms"

3
12/07/2017

The first room we were offered was very small and NO WINDOW. Ok, there was a skylight, but in case of emergency, I'm not sure that counts as a way to get out, if needed. There was just enough walking space between the bed and wall and no way to get to the other side of the bed as it was against the other wall. The a/c was barely working. I asked if that was a double, and was told it was and that their singles were much smaller. I'm not sure how much smaller you can get. We were offered another room that at least had access to the bed from both sides and a little more walking space in the room, and a window. Unfortunately, I left my jacket in the room, and even after several attempts to contact the hotel and going back over there, was unable to get my jacket back. We were only there for one night as we were relocated there due to issues and overbooking of our chosen hotel. The price for the one night was almost half of what we paid for 4 nights at another hotel and a slightly larger room. The only plus it had was a/c which would have been nice during the week we were there.

"Clean and a good price"

05/07/2017

It was a good place to stay. Had security. It was clean and a good price. I stayed in the smallest room, I believe. But it worked just fine. Window wasn't significant. If you want a window to look out, get a bigger room. I was really tired and left my room cluttered and money laying around. The room was cleaned and straightened up. All of my money left out in the open was still there too. Bus stop close by and had over 3 routes. Overground close too. I will stay there again.

"Reasonably priced small rooms"

04/07/2017

Stayed here to go to a concert at the O2 arena, rooms only £65 in advance, but really quite small. Very clean and great for one night , would be a struggle to stay much longer in such a small room but they do have larger ones that weren't that much more if space is what you want. If getting the train make sure you get off at Peckham Rye, its only a few minutes walk to the hotel. Only Fools and Horses themed, friendly and helpful staff, would recommend.

At the Best Western hotel is an hotel with welcoming and friendly staff. On arrival they offered us a room with one more bed in for free. The hotel is only fools and horses themed and the breakfast was lovely. The cooked breakfast they made sure that you get our money worth and the buffet there was plenty to choose from. I would recommend this hotel to families with children and without.

23/06/2017

We booked 13 rooms for family for our son's wedding. We had 4 nights there. The first night we were put in the smallest room imaginable, looking out onto the basement boiler or something, with lots of rubbish. They did change us the following night after our complaint. We were then told our card had not been accepted. This happened with about half the rooms so when our family arrived they had to pay. We had told them the rooms were all paid for. To cap it all one of the guests left her dress hanging in the closet when she left. When our daughter-in-law phoned they told her nothing had been handed in. She said that, if that was true, then the dress had been stolen. The reply was a sarcastic 'Well you have no proof of that do you?'. She might just as well have said 'Tough, not interested'. We are rewards members and use Best Western often. We will not be using them again.

"Let best western down"

23/06/2017

I have always been one to not pay attention to reviews as I never usually agree but this time I have to say this hotel was awful. Firstly we arrived at the hotel at 11am and they looked after our cases so we could go for lunch, we came back at 5pm and asked to check in, but our room was still being cleaned.... Check in is suppose to be 2! The floor was wet so being in rush for a concert we used a towel to quickly dry the floor so we could go in, the floor was filth and the towel was black! The room absolutely sunk where it had been cleaned with dirty old water . The shower had no hot water at all. I have always stayed in best westerns because I could guarantee I would have a lovely stay but after this one, I shall not be returning to any. I know it's not expensive but at least I would expect warm water and a room ready for check in!

"Very small & dark room"

18/06/2017

Stayed here as was very close to where we were visiting our daughter. Booked a triple room which was a double bed & 1 single bed.The room was clean but pretty cramped for the 3 of us! But the main problem I had was the lighting I could have done with a torch to see even with all lights on! There was 1 small window which looked out onto a small covered area.. I did feel quite claustrophobic! We travelled to the centre of London by bus which was easy enough it took about 40 minutes because of traffic.

BWLondonPeckham, General Manager at Best Western London Peckham Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad to hear that you found your room clean and fresh, I'm sorry to hear that you did not find the size of the room to your expectation. "Not so great"

2
17/06/2017

The rooms are spacious in European standards however, they were not really very clean. The shower didn't get very hot. The staff was friendly and did their best to assist us. The elevator went out our first day there and we ended up having to carry our heavy suitcases down several flights of stairs. The neighborhood is questionable although there is bus stop right nearby.

"Tiny Cramped Room"

2
14/06/2017

This room was tiny, although, not classed as one of the smallest! We booked in here as it was close to where our daughter lives, having checked in, we were sent around a labyrinth of corridors to a tiny lift. Our room was clean, but extremely small. To have to sit on the toilet at an angle is ridiculous! See the photos I have attached!(size 11 shoe placed for scale) There was only a foot of space between the two beds, with one pushed up against the window, and one barely 2 feet from the bathroom door, so if leaving the bathroom you would end up banging the door onto the person sitting on the bed! The shower had a very small sliding door that you had to turn sideways to get into, and the only place to dry yourself would be to exit the bathroom and stand in front of the door to the room, which was still a squeeze. We stayed at a Premier inn for £49 the previous night, and although in Luton, we wish we had just booked to go back there, as the Best Western room was £129 and we hardly slept a wink. The air conditioning unit is at the head of the bed, so if you wanted it on, it would blow cold air onto you as you tried to sleep. There was a small desk and chair, but you had to pull the chair out sideways or you could not get onto it. The lighting was very bright halogen bulbs, and there were not even any bedside lights, we had to unplug the desk lamp to put by the bed. To close the two high windows that had been opened, we had to climb on the bed. All in all this room was very uncomfortable, and very poor value for money, I would not recommend this hotel.

The hotel is good value and staff were very friendly and helpful. The only down side is the fact it isn't close to any underground stations. There is however as overground line close (15 minute walk) with reasonable regular trains. The only fools and horses theme is quaint and a nice touch and our room despite being right next to a road was nice and quiet. The room was a bit small but for the price you can't argue.

I called the Manager Dhiran regarding accommodation for myself at very short notice. Dhiran was very polite & professional and he sorted everything for me... "Best stay with Excellent service"

29/05/2017

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, 4 days . Hotel is nice and clean . I had room in the corner in the Peckham building. Tiny room but it full fills your need as a tourist. Price reasonable with additional cost of £6.50 and £ 7.50 for the continental and English Breakfast. If you buy English breakfast you qualify for the continental breakfast. If you have huge appetite its worth with just £ 1 extra to have both. Transportation link from the Hotel to centre is great, every 5 minutes you get the Bus to down town. If you have flight from the Gatwick airport then its more easy to get to Victoria from the Peckham station and Gatwick express from Victoria. Area seems bit rough and dirty as compare to neighbour hood of Peckham but again if you are tourist most of the time you are in the down town. Food- If you come back late night there are not many option in the area other than chips, Chinese take away and pizza. Unfortunately I had stomach problem for 2 days during my stay. Staffs are so friendly specially Manager Diren went extra miles when I needed the doctor. He arranged to take me local free doctor instead calling for Home visit. Until my last day he was checking on me if I am ok or need any further helps. My hats off for his caring and helpful, polite attitude. Breakfast- getting continental with English at £7.50 I would say its worth otherwise portion of English Breakfast is not that big. I would definitely come back to this place again with family.

29/05/2017

In London for a wedding so just staying one night, hotel recommended to us so booked on advice. On arrival the staff were most helpful, the rooms are very small not much bigger than the bed, the only window we had was a roof light, the room in its entirety was clean and comfortable it was ok for one night,if staying longer ask for a bigger room,ac unit in room and by quiet, checkout was quick and simple.

"DO NOT STAY HERE"

1
23/05/2017

If you value your time, money and sleep, for the love of all things holy please do NOT stay at this hotel. My husband and I checked in a few nights ago excited to begin our London adventure, first time here, and we're gravely disappointed in everything about this wretched hotel. We are actually checking out today, mid way through our trip and leaving to another hotel because I'm going to go nuts staying here for another minute. I will only give credit to the customer service of the front desk staff who are very kind and helpful but that is not enough to make me EVER want to step foot in this place again. The first room we were checked into was down 8 different hallways into the depths of the basement, musty and clammy and dark. Small room but we made do for the first night. At 9am were promptly woken up by the screaming and banging around of the housekeeping staff. Literally the walls in this hotel are like paper and may as well not even exist as you can hear a light switch turned on in the next room. After complaining to the front desk the housekeeping staff became quiet for about an hour and then back at banging and slamming all the doors and supplies. That was night one. Night two was the EXACT same thing so I complained again and we were given a voucher for a free English breakfast which was positively gross, sorry I know they tried but their entire food selection IN THE BASEMENT was like what you give prison inmates. Disgusting and you're better off starving until you can get into town for an actual meal. After night two of loud cleaning staff I requested to be moved to a different, quieter room and the hotel manager was so nice and obliged, gave us a room on the first floor. We were thrilled to be out of the clammy stinky basement only to be horrified at the next room as soon as we walked in. Our bathroom is so small the toilet and the sink almost touch, meaning when you try and sit on the can you are literally inside the sink. My poor husband has to sit on the toilet sideways in order to fit. Unbelievable. The bathroom light doesn't turn on AT ALL so we've been bathing in the dark and forget doing your hair and makeup... the only mirror is in the dark bathroom and the only light switch is across the room in another corner...?!?!?? How on earth do they expect any normal person to be happy with these accommodations? Oh and also our door doesn't lock at all so any walker-by could traipse in at any hour of the day or night and rob us blind. Morning three and hoped for a quieter sleep, nope!! Not only do we still hear the cleaning staff and other guests... wait for it... construction too!!! Nothing says thousands of dollars spent on vacation like bloody construction at 9am I may as well have stayed at home in Toronto. Our stay here has been that of nightmares and if you have even thought of staying here PLEASE RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION. If you have put down a deposit or booked and waiting to arrive here, CANCEL IT AND GET AS MUCH MONEY BACK AS YOU CAN. You'll thank me later. This hotel is also in a ghetto. Not exaggerating at all. I live in the downtown core of a big city and I know bad areas when I come across them, THIS IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO STAY especially if you're a foreigner. Good god please stay somewhere else. The bus system in this area is good. Free wifi all over the hotel is good. Tv channels are extensive and front desk staff is very nice. That is literally all that is good about this hotel and I promise you can find that many other places in London. This hotel should be shut down for the horrifying facility that it is. I regret ever staying here for half a minute let alone 3 hopeful nights met with horror. The worst best western and arguably the worst hotel I have ever ever ever stayed at in my entire life, and I have done a lot of traveling at many hotels across North America and Europe. Never never never!

"Hard to navigate"

3
21/05/2017

We stayed at the Best Western before and after our cruise. With two suitcases in tow just getting up the front stairs was painful. Yes, the rooms are clean and the bed was comfortable but getting to the rooms and dealing with the size of them felt more like a comedy routine. Our first room 555 was not quite as small but navigating to it was another story. Lots of stairs, tiny elevator and narrow hallways with fire doors made the first trip to the room quite the adventure. There really is no room for suitcases if there are two people. Our second room was even smaller and it was comical trying to even open our suitcases. The second room had a desk and a chair but the bed was so close you could not pull out the chair far enough to use. There are no amenities to speak of, except for some liquid soap, which supposedly worked as shampoo and soap and came out of a mounted squeeze container. We did speak to the manager about this. Do not buy the breakfast!!! I had the continental for 6.5 pounds and my friend has the English breakfast for 7.5. Both left us unsatisfied. Walk down a few blocks towards the center of London and there is a cute restaurant with better food. The hotel is out of the way but there is an easy bus route close to the hotel. The price was extremely inexpensive, so if you can deal with the size, this might work for you.

"The Worst Hotel !"

1
20/05/2017

This is BY FAR the worst hotel i have been to,we booked it through booking.com after reading some positive revues,we liked the concept of a FOOLS AND HORSES theme in what is described as an up and coming area so booked for 2 nights at a cost of £170,what a mistake.I always go on first impressions and should have realised as soon as we saw the BIG recruitment board directly outside the hotel advertising for every position from Hotel manager to Kitchen porter, anyway to my complaint,we arrived at 3.40 PM to check in,they took the payment for the room there and then,we were given our key and directions to our room,If you like solving puzzles and like a bit of the Crystal Maze then this is the place for you. When we got to the room i immediately noticed that the room had not been touched or someone had been having their tea- break in it,towels still in the shower, hair and footprints on the bedding, empty tea cups, bins still full,so went right back to reception to complain, they looked at us like they was doing us a favour by giving us this one.We then got the keys to another room which had just been decorated and to be fair it was clean and fit for purpose as we found out when we could eventually get in to it,key didn't work at all so back to reception to have it reprogrammed, the look of disgust on the staffs faces said it all,the room wasn't even supposed to have guests in it i don't think as there were no tea- making facilities,no towels, over powering smell of paint and was freezing. As for Peckham,if you like walking around on edge all the time and enjoy being scared book this place and you,ll find out what i mean,we left the hotel soon after checking in and headed straight into Central London to get a room for 2 nights returning to Peckham Lodge the day after to check out, took a £170 hit but hey ho,you cant put a price on safety.

"Bad first impression, warmed up over our stay"

19/05/2017

We arrived at Peckham Rye station at 11pm, and the neighbourhood looked very rough. Mind you, everyone we came across was polite and we had no issues. We had booked the room using air miles, and when we arrived, front desk staff took 20 min to find our reservation. This was challenging as we had two tired children with us. The room they first gave us smelled strongly of paint, but they quickly gave us another one after we complained. The room was small, but this is Europe. It was clean, modern, and in the daytime, the neighbourhood was fine and had a great park and playground nearby. It was easy to pop on the bus to go downtown, and to take the train to the airport. We were at first put off by being in the basement, but our room stayed cool on a hot day, and it think it helped minimize the traffic noise (hotel is right on a busy road). The only downside was navigating the stroller, but, again, this is Europe and ramps are hard to find.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a standard double room, the room was very small but it was clean and the bed was comfy and it had everything we needed (tea/coffee facilities, nice big tv, good shower, and lovely scented soap and shampoo). The reception staff were very polite and helpful and always smiling. There's a bus stop right out side where numerous different buses stop making it very easy to get around to different parts of London. I would happily stay here again :)

"Midweek break"

Superb midweek break. A very good hotel that has undergone lots of refurbishment. Rooms are very good with all mod cons. Location is good for travelling into central London at short notice. Parking is expensive but that is minor.

"Worst hotel stay to date"

1
10/05/2017

This has been without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever had to stay in. I spend a lot of time in hotels with my work and usually find that I get a good rest. I chose this particular hotel mainly for the fact it had parking listed on booking.com upon arrival I was told that there are actually only 6 spaces for the entire hotel which are usually booked up two weeks in advance. I then had to drive around trying to find on street parking, baring in mind this is probably one of the roughest parts of London I've visited. After finding a spot I cleared out my car of valuables and headed over to the hotel which looks like it's under some kind of construction. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I cannot blame them for this disappointing stay at all. I was shown to my room and was surprised at how small the double room I'd booked was and the decor looked like it had been designed by a 5 year old with garish bright colours and clocks on the wall that don't work. After settling down I ordered some food, being a best western I wasn't expecting Michelin star quality food but for £8.50 I expected more than what was clearly a £1 microwave meal from Iceland. It came relatively quickly but that was probably because it wasn't cooked. The chicken meal was delivered to me freezing cold, only the rice had been warmed up. After managing to eventually fall asleep through the noise of loud traffic and contrast emergency vehicle sirens I was abruptly woken up at just gone 3am by a loud alarm buzz coming from the air conditioning unit. Just a single burst last a second or two. Thinking I was late for work it startled me. At first I thought I was dreaming as it didn't happen again and all I could hear was what sounded like the gas refilling within the unit. Approx 15 mins later just as I was falling asleep the same noise happened again and this continued for an hour and a half. Then sat there wide away I called reception and they sent up a security guard who slapped the machine a few times and pressed all the buttons on the controller and assured me it was fixed. I'm now sat here wide awake writing this review so I guess I'll see if he was right or if I'll actually get anymore sleep. Very disappointed and usually best westerns have been a great place to rest when travelling with work. This place has been a real let down for the company.

"Loud hotel"

2
03/05/2017

Here's a tip: Don't ignore the reviews! This hotel was LOUD. Loud guests, no windows in bottom rooms, no carpeting to protect from the sound. We told the staff it was loud and they said the rooms were all booked or they would have moved us. I will say that the hotel was conveniently located near public transport and we never felt unsafe. But if you're looking for a peaceful night sleep, look elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are truly sorry to learn of the experience you have had whilst staying with us. I would like to apologise for the internal noise that happened during your stay and that we were unable to cure the issue for you, we have 24 hour security in the building which do constant fire walks at night to help with any internal noise. I'm glad you found the location of the hotel convenient for your stay in London. Thank you again for reviewing our hotel. I hope that will be able to see you in the future.

"Can not fault this hotel at all. Great stay, great price."

01/05/2017

I have stayed here a few times in the past year, and cannot fault it. If you book well in advance you can get an excellent price. Staff are very polite and helpful the rooms are clean and have everything you need. My daughter lives in nearby East Dulwich and we stay here when visiting her. Easy access to central London via bus or overground train from Peckham Rye Station. The Only Fools And Horses theme is a bit of fun, and is it a coincidence that the hotel is on the corner of Peckham Road and Lyndhurst Road as the actor Nicholas Lyndhurst played Del's brother Rodney Trotter in the TV series? Looking forward to my next visit very much.

"Very Understanding"

01/05/2017

I was booking a room at the hotel for 2 nights but by mistake booked the hotel for 21 nights by mistake and was charged for all 21 nights which put me in a very difficult spot as the booking was non refundable. Nevertheless I decided to call the hotel and explain my mistake and the situation I was in. The manager of the hotel Dhiren immediately understood my situation and offered to help and he refunded the amount and changed my booking to 2 nights. I was quite happy to have booked in such a nice hotel which understood my situation and didn't take advantage of it.

"OK location, nice and clean"

3
30/04/2017

I booked this hotel on air miles. I requested twin beds but my friend and I had to share a 'kingsize' . There is no 'queen size' beds in London, so if you are given a 'kingsize', it is really a 'queen'. So we shared a bed, it was fine, and I don't know if this was a mistake on the Hotel's part or Airmiles, but it was fine. We were given room 106 which was located in the basement, down a maze or corridors. Whilst the room was nice and clean, there was no window. After a few days, it was very weird and a bit claustrophobic. I didn't know what to wear because I couldn't look out the window to see if it was sunny, rainy, etc. A night in the basement is ok. Rethink if you want to stay a few days. The hotel has undergone a major renovation, and our room was fine. The TV worked, but we had to ask for a remote, just an oversight I'm sure, and one was brought to us within five minutes. The wifi signal is great, but you have to log on after periods of inactivity. Just go into your settings and reconnect. The room was clean, the staff was courteous, and the bus stopped a block away. Take the bus 36 or 436 to the Oval tube station, which will quickly take you into central London. Buy and Oyster card and use it for the busses and the tube. There is a little convenience store two blocks away on the same side as the hotel. If you want to pick up a bottle of wine, be advised that they are not licences to sell booze after midnight, so plan your booze run accordingly. Not too many pubs in the immediate area, but walking along the main road, there are loads of coffee shops and places to get your hair cut. For London, it was an OK deal.

"Would not recommend."

1
30/04/2017

Stayed here for 2 nights last October as I had to visit universities around London. -Firstly the room we were given the bathroom light did not work so if you needed to shower/use the toilet you had to do it in the dark or with the door open (there were no windows). -Secondly the room stunk of cigarettes and was very cold even though there was a sign up saying there would be fines for smoking in the rooms, this worried me because I don't smoke yet the room stunk of it and I didn't want that to be pinned on me! I came to realise that this was because we were put on the "cleaners corridor" (I don't know what you'd call this part of a hotel) which at the end had a door that was always open which clearly led to the back of the hotel where staff went to smoke. - Because we were in this part of the hotel the floor on our corridor was a hard floor which came to be a MASSIVE problem in the morning as I was woken up at 6am by laundry carts being wheeled up and down the corridor (very loud noise), and staff literally shouting to eachother and talking in the corridor clearly getting on with their jobs which is no fault of there own however the hotel SHOULD NOT have put paying guests here! I did not go back to sleep and was very tired for my busy day in London and ended up missing one of the talks for my university course because I felt so drained. - I payed for English breakfast included however the breakfast pass I was given was for only continental breakfast so that had to be an ordeal each breakfast. - We complained about the room and got moved and upgraded to a room with a door to the roof terrace (which I admit is nice and they didn't have to do, they could have just given us a same price room) however in this room the door to the roof terrace was broken therefore you could not lock it shut and anyone could have come in to the room and stolen our stuff or worse... by this point I was so drained that I did not want to pack up and swap rooms again so just stayed in that room. Defiantly do not recommend and I will not be staying with best western again.

My parents always have come to this hotel a few times in the past 10 years when they are in londonto see me and over the years the hotel has become much better. it has been refurbished and even though it is not outstanding it is getting better . Only downside is that the window had a big gap between the wall and the glass which means all the wind and cold could get in

"Overnight stop en route to a funeral"

3
24/04/2017

We wanted an overnight stop to attend a funeral the following day and there really is not much choice around the Ilford area. So booked via Hotels.com. It was not an expensive stay and included breakfast. However our room was sadly in need of modernising - the bathroom fittings were rusty in places and there was no radiator. The beds (2 singles) were very basic and the pillows were awful. There was a good supply of tea/coffee for our use in the room and the tv/wi fi worked (although the tv position on the wall was not the easiest to watch). Our room no 46 was below ground level and had a damp smell which the hotel tried to disguise with room freshners. Not one of the Best Western hotels

My dad and i stayed here for a 2 night stay while my mum underwent major surgery at Kings college Hospital. All i can say is "Well Done " the staff were amazing and so helpful , we will definitely be using again. THANKYOU ... lubbly jubbly ..

"Comfortable and friendly hotel."

5
12/04/2017

We were unfamiliar with the area but needed to be close to the Kings College Hospital. We chose this hotel for the location and from the reviews. We stayed in a family room which was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff were very helpful and we were able to photocopy some documents in the reception area. The breakfast provided plenty of choice. We paid £6. 50 for a taxi from the hotel to the hospital. We will definately stay here again

"Pleasant and clean hotel"

11/04/2017

Stayed here recently and had our room upgraded on arrival so had complementary crisps and water in the room. Very clean and good shower facilities. The beds were very comfy too. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room which was decorates in the style of 'Only Fools and Horses'. The staff are very pleasant and friendly.

"Clean+ lovely staff"

11/04/2017

Despite the fact that the hotel is located in an awkward neighborhood, it's very clean and the staff is quite helpful. The towels were changed every day. You can also leave your luggage with them with no extra cost.

"It's good"

5
03/04/2017

We have been here for a few days. The room is good and they change towels every day. No noise and it's clean. The reception is friendly and helpful. Good bus connections and lots of eateries and stores around here. The hotel is on the cross roads and hence visible. Nothing scary as reported by other reviewers. I haven't tried the restaurant but looks good. They have a lift that goes up but buttons are broken when you want to go down. Hope they can repair it quickly but till then it's ok to walk down the stairs

"Hotel staff were so helpful at a difficult time"

30/03/2017

I've stayed here in the BW Hotel in Peckham three times now, visiting family in hospital and getting to know London again after 30 years aways. It is in a fine Victorian building. I found the rooms to be spotlessly clean and the beds comfy. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, with Natalia and Joana at reception always efficient and going to great lengths to accommodate changing plans, and Gabriela like a busy bee in the breakfast room. The hotel is a simple bus ride away from the BMuseum (171) and London's main tourist attractions (36), which I took in between hospital visits. Can't recommend it highly enough.

"Midweek break"

5
28/11/2016

I booked this hotel as a cheap place to stay for myself and my daughter, It was just for one night. The hotel was easy to find, it was clean and comfortable, and the most important point was how helpful and friendly the staff were. Following heavy rain, our bathroom developed a leak. The staff just moved us to another room without any problems. We didn't stay for breakfast, so can't comment, but I would definitely go back.

"Good value and quirky"

4
27/11/2016

This hotel has recently joined the Best Western group and, due to it's location, has an "Only Fools and Horses" theme complete with a yellow Reliant three wheeler in front of the entrance and rooms with "Lovely Jubbly" headboards. The rooms are very clean with modern furniture and contemporary bathrooms. Accommodation is on a bed and breakfast basis and is very good value for London. Breakfast is either continental @ £6.50 or full English @ £7.50. The cooked breakfast was very good. The hotel doesn't have a bar (yet) but I noticed that some residents had found someone to serve them drinks in the breakfast room. The location is fine for visiting London - take the #12 bus outside the hotel directly into Trafalgar Square (around 50 minutes - £1.50) or the train from nearby Peckham Rye station into Charing Cross via London Bridge (17 minutes - £3.30). Whatever you do please be warned - the advertised car parking has around 6 spaces which were all full when I arrived and the car park looks very difficult to get into. I parked in a street adjacent to the hotel - it's free but you take a real chance if arriving by car of getting a space.

"Good Value"

3
27/11/2016

Handy for a base for the night. Room was small but comfortable. Slightly unhappy that there was only one plug socket in the room - not handy when there are two of you with two phones. About a 10 min walk from the over ground, but only cost £13-16 to get a cab to Waterloo. Breakfast was good, apart from having a fridge cold uncooked tomato with the full English. Reasonable price for the location.

"Remarkably good value"

4
25/11/2016

A handy base to visit King's College Hospital 20 minutes walk away; closer than Brixton Premier Inn and a third cheaper. Recently refurbished basement room was small and had everything you'd expect including wall-mounted Samsung HDTV and cubicle shower. £7.50 buys a fresh, cooked to order full English plus all the usual cereals, fruits, pastries and yoghurts. Very pleasant and efficient team. I would book again.

"Just ok "

2
25/11/2016

We booked a room for a family it had 4 beds however the room was so small we couldn't even walk around room. No Seats or lounge to sit on no fridge in room. Bathroom is so small but the hot water was great. The beds were comfortable. If you are looking for cheap and nasty this is the place! Breakfast was terrible and place is so far away from tube.

"Compromised all round"

2
22/11/2016

The reasonable room rate comes with a catch...anywhere in centralish London is difficult to get to. It turns traveling back and fore into a chore not a holiday. On the face of it the hotel is clean and relatively modern but the rooms are Very very small....although comfortable. Breakfast is a comedy of errors with disconnects between staff resulting in the (very average) full English breakfast arriving before one has finished cereal. Del Boys 3 wheeler parked on the outside lawn turns from an item of interest to a reflection of the hotel- a bit of a joke

"Disappointing stay"

2
21/11/2016

I visited London for a days business and I picked this hotel due to its location, the offer of parking and breakfast was included. The staff were pleasant checking in but it was a fight to get one of the limited parking spaces available. You have to book a space in advance due to the limited number. The room was adequate. The bathroom smelt of stagnant water. In the morning, the smell was over powering. I went to get something to eat from the restaurant, which was located in the basement and resembled a road side café. The plastic chairs and table cloths were so uninviting it explained why the place was deserted. The bar was a hatch in the wall. I didn't stay. If you want breakfast in the morning, make sure you do not have an early start as breakfast is not served until 0700 hrs. The hotel was noisy with th traffic outside and people walking down the corridor. Not a restful night.

"Useful stopover"

18/11/2016

We wanted a cheap clean bed for the night so that we could get quickly to Brixton to look after our grandson before his parents went out at 0715 am. This hotel was the closest we could find, conveniently served by buses from a stop yards from the front door. It ticked our boxes - cheap - certainly, clean - definitely. The room was very small, but that was what we had booked and therefore we weren't expecting anything larger. We were there for too short a time for me to suss out the air conditioning but we slept perfectly well. We had asked for a quiet room and this request had been acknowledged, so we were on the top floor with no one above us and it was accordingly quiet. We had to leave at 6.30 am and breakfast, included in our deal, did not start until 0700, but reception staff kindly arranged a takeaway breakfast for us (two croissants, two pieces of fruit, two muffins in each bag) - we had some coffee later on in Brockwell Park. If we had to do a similar dash into London we'd stay at this hotel again - it filled the bill.

"Poor hotel for a Best Western"

2
16/11/2016

Booked a room with a window but ended up in the basement! Room smells of damp, no remote control for the Tv so I called reception and 30 minutes passed before I got a call back, in the meantime I have sent a review through the booking company that seemed to have gone to the reception! Hence the call back!! The restaurant and bar are very basic, only burgers or sandwiches on the menu, the bar is very basic and under staffed. While I'm writing this review I've just had the manager knock the door to apologise after reading my previous review and has given me the option to upgrade my room and to hand me a basket containing wine, crisps, peanuts and water?? At least they can respond in a positive way but someone else will come in to this damp smelly room tomorrow no doubt.

We arrived in Peckham after a long flight , I originally booked the Hotel as it was a different area than we had stayed previously. It was a little bit of a culture shock, the main streets were dirty and the smell atrocious, rubbish everywhere . However when we finally arrived at the Hotel what an oasis, it was clean, the staff friendly and helpful and the room was great. It was close to shops and the Tube and just outside the Buses ran to London regularly. All in all a location far from the crowds and apparently all busses lead to Peckham.

"Weird!!"

15/11/2016

My mum and I had to stay at the Best Western for nearly 2 weeks as my father was in King's college hospital and it was the only hotel available nearby. The rooms are very small and in order to fit a baby cot we had to take a triple room not a double. The windows are not fully double glazed as we could hear noise and feel the cold at night. We had to extend our stay and so were given a double room for the 2nd week. And one night at midnight some guests opened our room door and were about to come in before we started screaming. The guy at reception activated their room key with our room number. So unprofessional. Also it was quite expensive for room only rate. You had to pay extra for breakfast which finishes 9.30 weekdays and 10 on weekends!!! To early for a weekend. Finally, the house keeping do not change the bed sheets unless you are checking out which with having a baby with us was not great.

"GREAT HOTEL! Affordable, Friendly, Cozy, Train Station close by"

14/11/2016

Of course being a best western it was a wonderful stay. London being the first destination on our month long Europe trip, we found the hotel easily and was greeted with friendly english speaking staff. The elevator only worked the first day we arrived, the rest of the time it was down. But not to many stairs to get to our room. The room was small was very cozy, and we had our very own bathroom!! We had the breakfast, which was an extra fee, and there was a vegetarian option as well. The breakfast room was in the basement.. kinda odd we thought and really echoed. They had a lot of staff to assist you. The only downside to this hotel would be the area, we did not have an issue, but after we returned home to canada we found out the hotel was in the worst neighbourhood in london. But like i said, we had no issues. Infant we loved it!! There was an adorable pub in walking distance that was so cheep. And best marinara sauce I've ever had! The train station was also very conveniently close. All in all, a very good hotel! Oh and there is a grocery store in walking distance that is very cheep too. Trust me, i worry about everything! But honestly my boyfriend and i would stay at this hotel again when we go back to london, and after our whole trip through Europe, this hotel is ranked #2 of best hotels we stayed at. If you're looking for an affordable hotel in london, this should be on your list!

Stayed for one night! Room was clean and tidy. We were woken up between 3am and 5am with someone going back to their room. Slamming doors, screaming, key card not working and then trying to get into our room. I know it's the not hotels fault but this is a joke We were then woken at 7am on a Sunday by the gate outside our room being opened which was incredibly loud. Trolleys were then to follow being dragged around on the concrete Extremely disturbed night

Unfortunately we do not have any control over this, but I apologise on behalf of my team for the inconvenience caused you as a result. I would say that as a hotel for business travellers, this is not the spot you want to choose. It is very tough to access the city in a reasonable manner, either by public transport or by cab/uber. Equally, while the rooms were adequate, clean and functional, the staff was terrible. The reception was very poor, with the staff in the mornings especially rude and unhelpful. If you are on a budget and don't mind a slog in and out of the city, this may be a nice option. If you value common courtesy from staff and a willingness to meet expectations, there are better options.

BWLondonPeckham, General Manager at BEST WESTERN London Peckham Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for your recent feedback after your stay at the Best Western London Peckham Hotel. I am sorry that the Hotels location did not meet your expectations for travel and convenience reasons to and from your destinations. Initially wasnt sure about this hotel, however was pleasantly surprised. Parking isnt the best, basically park in the streets locally. Rooms well appointed with a quirky decor, wifi has good streaming quality. Breakfast unlimited and of reasonable quality. Very nice experience at Peckham Rooms, staff was really nice and helpful, the athmosphere was great! Room got everything necessary, not too fancy, but worked just fine! From room next to the office you hear bit too much whats going on at the hall, but i slept well. Would go there again!

Spenat Therese nights with My family and the mezzanine family Room was perfect for us. Bus#12, stopped just outside and took us to Piccadilly in 30 min. The English breakfast was good aswell. The only "complain" we could think of was the towels, 2 towels for 5 persons!!!

The hotel is in a good location near the station. The staff were very friendly, when they found out it was my birthday they left a bottle of wine, birthday card and cake in our room. The room was clean and a good size, a shame we had a view of a wall, other than that a great hotel.

I stopped one night at this hotel as I was passing through London and wanted to explore Peckham ! I found it clean comfortable and warm but as a lone female traveller the best part of my stay was the friendly helpful staff. In particular the night receptionist who gave me advice on things to do in the local area was helpful and friendly .often with London hotels the staff are polite but lack local knowledge Ibrahim helped me plan my trip and made me feel welcome .

We stayed here as it's only 5 mins from my mums house and easy to get to London from. The hotel was immaculate, staff very friendly and helpful and the "only fools and horses decor in the room was brilliant. We stayed in a small double with no windows which I wasn't looking forward to, but it was just right. The bathroom was perfectly clean and everything was accessible. Room service used once and that was delicious. Totally recommend and will definitely stay there again, in fact we are booking our next stay this weekend...

"Essential but nice"

24/10/2016

We've been at this hotel for our first London visit. Looks like a nice budget and colorful hotel even thou all the staff is always smart and professional. Rooms are small but comfortable. Bathroom has a nice shower also spotless. You can only use the sink if the door is closed cos otherwise there won't be space enough. Highly suggested to upgrade toilet with a brush for the wc and couple of lampshades on the bed because main light is too bright if you get up in the night or you wish to read while in bed. Thanks a lot to all the staff. See you next time around

Lower -1 floor room , no road noise, room kept very clean, good breakfast, all staff very friendly. Will stay in hotel again. Stayed for three nights for a family wedding , had five rooms every one happy with the hotel.

"Room too small"

3
22/10/2016

ok , this is not an luxury hotel and in London rooms are not large, but we found the room of the BW Peckham too small . The room is large as the bed it means that there are no other space for you from the bed to the wall!!! Bathroom also small but shower works well. Position of the hotel is not bad ( overground Peckham rye 20 mint by foot) and buses are many for going around and in Oxford circus ( # 12) . We don't have breakfast so nothing to say( even tought it finished at 9,30 Am I think too early for an hotel) The best think of the hotel are : 1) Outside building very nice 2) Reception , all the staff are very kind and helpful particularly I want to say thank for her help to Simona , very kind . But the worst and I want to underline the VERY WORST think are the waitresses ...they started made rumors outside the rooms at 7,35 Am and so you cannot spleen any more. Incredible ...maybe in the hostel that made something like this!! At the end not an hotel for us

"Average hotel"

19/10/2016

This hotel looks lovely from the outside. The staff were friendly and the reception is bright and airy. The vehicle entrance is at the back of the hotel. The room we were allocated was 301 and I wouldn't recommend it. The room is small and all the windows have frosted glass. The double bed was very small and appeared to be about the same size as the bunk beds in the room. Windows cannot be opened as the smoking area is directly outside and as the hotel has a strict no smoking policy we feared an additional £100 being added to our bill. This rule is displayed on the tv in reception. The hotel is being done up so hopefully this can be rectified. The hotel is about a 12 min walk from Peckham Rye train station and not ideal if you have a large suitcase.

18/10/2016

I had had a really good time at the hotel. it is located in a very good part of the city, fromwhere you can easily get to the centre or other parts of the city. Of course staff is really cool, and what was interesting, that they are able to comunicate with people in other languages than English, which I count as an advantage. Also a good price. I was staying twice at the hotel, and hope I will continue doing that every year.

"damp smell in basement room, dark, bleak"

17/10/2016

We thought this would be a convenient stop after a wedding locally. the basement room had a window that looked out to a wall, bad lighting and the tiny bathroom smelt damp. the bed and pillows were hard. the staff were pleasant and the room was clean - but the room itself was utterly depressing

"Tiny, tiny room!"

1
15/10/2016

We were really disappointed with this hotel. Obviously I knew that the rooms would likely be small as it was a cheap London hotel but seriously, this was ridiculous! There were no pictures of this room type on the hotel page, for obvious reasons! My wife and I could not walk past each other within the room. One of us had to jump on the bed so the other could get past. The bed itself was tucked up against a wall so that only one side was accessible. Meaning I had to climb over my wife to go to the loo during the night. There were no windows in the room. There was a tiny skylight which was controlled by a button by the bed (actually, everthing was by the bed). Except the button only worked intermittently and sometimes the skylight would open ten minutes after you last pressed the button! The TV was huge! Way too big to fit in a room this size. In fact I had to fold it back to get into the bathroom. On a positive note, the shower was ok. The room smelled quite dank and musty, probably because nobody can work the skylight. I won't be coming back here.

Dear Sir, Thank you for your feedback after your recent stay at the Best Western London Peckham Hotel. I am sorry if your stay experience with us did not match your expectations and standards due to the room type you were allocated, in this instance.I can assure you that all our different room types meet all the specification and standards expected of a Best Western Hotel of a similar standing. If for any reason (and due to the room type of your booking and consequent availability at the time of your visit), I can assure you that if notified to my team, they would have taken every effort to relocate you to another room type and that you would have found more acceptable in this situation. This would have been our first priority. I am understanding the room type that you were allocated and in the Hotels specific section would be similar(and with features mentioned) to other room types in this area.I can only once again apologise that we could not give you an opportunity on this occasion to ensure your stay was a pleasant and comfortable one, once we had been made aware.I do hope that you will give us another chance to prove to you a superior service and stay experience on your next visit, and I will personally look forward to overseeing all arrangements meet and exceed your expectations. 14/10/2016

Although reading some not so good reviews I still booked and was surprised. You obviously can't please everyone. My room was clean airy and fresh with a nice high and comfortable bed. A slept exceedingly well. Any staff i dealt with were professional and courteous and were hhelpful with a small complaint we had. The breakfast was lovely and they catered for vegetarians. However the juices were not very chilled so drank warm juice. Maybe chiller was faulty? We were very lucky to find parking space as we drove into London it was like the space waiting for us. Lack of parking is a downfall and there is no guarantee I'll be lucky next time. Yes... there will be a next time it was a lovely hotel.

"Really poor hotel"

12/10/2016

We stayed Friday 7th October in room 111, when we made our booking we booked a room with a window and in the picture you can see how tiny the window was they might as well not bothered putting a window in the room, I called reception to complain and they said they had upgraded us and the hotel was full, I'm shocked to think how poor the room was that they upgraded us from. Do not book here rooms are poor and staff don't really want to help you

Dear Sir, Thank you for your feedback after your recent stay with us at the Best Western, London Peckham Hotel. I am sorry you faced some inconvenience re: the room type you had initially expected from your reservation and the nonavailability of another room type to match the same due to high business levels and the hotel being almost fully booked. I can assure you that our different room types in the Hotel and the one allocated to you on your visit are to the standards that you would expect from a Best Western Hotel of a similar standing.I do apologise on this occasion if this room didn't match your standards and expectations. A business customer, I stayed one night but was pleasantly surprised at the high level of decor and cleanliness at such a reasonable price. Hope to be back for a longer stay soon. The car park though, has to be booked in advance so I had to park on the street.

Quirky decor in large triple room . Very clean and comfortable beds . Staff friendly and very helpful . Very noisy at night as single glazed rooms and a lot of emergency services sirens both nights and could hear peoples conversations when passing even on second floor . Good transport links to Central London .

03/10/2016

Stayed here one night for a wedding down the road. The small double was teeny tiny but clean and freshly decorated. Shower was hot and the bed was fairly comfy. Booked on the hotels website with the free continental breakfast. My only criticism of this hotel was that the breakfast buffet was a bit of a shambles - they kept running out of stuff and it was badly ordered so everyone was in everyone else's way. Aside from that this hotel is reasonably priced for London and the staff are friendly - I would stay here again.

"Terrible!"

1
27/09/2016

First of all: the rooms are ok. Some of them are really small, but all the furniture seems to be ok. What's terrible about it: the staff! Very rude, unfriendly and unprofessional. It seems like the staff hates having people here, they don't treat you with any respect whatsoever, they pretty much treated me like a little kid. I hated it here thanks to the staff. Room 220.

27/09/2016

Stayed here as was going to a show at Brixton Academy. Needed to stay a night earlier so emailed hotel in advance and was sorted with no problems. Room was small but wasn't really an issue for me personally. Room and hotel was very clean. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel with some buses running 24 hrs and the train station is about 10 mins walk away. Only problem I had was that you can hear people in the corridor outside the rooms and was woken up early in the morning by people returning to their rooms after a night out but this isn't a major issue.

"Excellent Stay"

27/09/2016

We stayed here for a long weekend towards the end of September. Making our way from Pekham Rye station we weren't sure what to expect but to our very pleasant surprise, the hotel was lovely. The rooms were small, but not unusually so by London standards. The room was fully air conditioned and spotlessly clean and the bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have experienced! Transport links are very good - the number 12 bus runs throughout the day and takes you straight to some of London's most popular attractions - Parliament Square, Big Ben, London Eye etc. The only slight criticism (and it is only slight) is that the rooms are quite thinly walled, resulting in quite a bit of noise making it's way in, however I can't honestly say it was enough to interrupt us. Overall, a very good budget hotel in a convenient location for anyone staying in London. The best recommendation I can make is that we booked to come back as a family next year and we're already counting down!

Only one night here ,but rooms were clean and comfortable. Beds fresh with nice linen.Easily accessible for city centre. With buses running frequently nearby.Stayed with a group of friends for a charity event and found it to be very good value for our needs.

"Very good budget accommodation."

5
25/09/2016

When we come to London we look for good budget accommodation as we prefer to spend our money on shows and entertainment, we view our room as a base. We stayed here for 3 nights, Wednesday through to Friday and we were impressed. Our room was in the annex adjacent to the main reception area. The room was spotless, yes it's small but the same as budget Ibis, Travelodge or Premier. Quirky decoration, Only fools and horses styled. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room, TV, room cleaned everyday, 2 hand towels and two larger towels supplied everyday too. Shower was great and no problems with hot water. The hairdryer is attached to the wall in the bathroom, I did use it but if I went again I'd take my own as no blow dry nozel, my hair is too unruly to blast dry. Our air conditioning worked perfectly especially as we stayed during three very hot days. We were not bothered by any noise from the hotel or traffic outside. We ate breakfast once in the hotel, freshly cooked English with cereals, toast, fruit and pastry's. There is a small room service food menu. Turn right from the hotel there are shops and eating outlets available. Turn left and you have the bus stop. We caught the 171 in to London. (Coming back to the hotel you get off at Harris Academy) You can catch several buses to the Elephant and Castle or Waterloo tube stations. So the hotel has great transport links. I would stay here again.

"In a word - Noisy"

2
25/09/2016

This hotel is located on a very busy main road in South London. With that comes 24 hours of traffic noise. Check-in was efficient but my room turned out to be underground (on Level 1). The room had a small skylight but it was underneath a ramp from their car park to reception. It sounded like thunder when someone pulled a suitcase with wheels along that ramp! The room was clean and there is free (code controlled) wi-fi for internet access. The desk is tiny. There is no need to set an alarm in the morning as the breakfast staff will be waking you up at 06:00am as they exit the lift and make their way to the Breakfast Room (which is accessed from Level 1), chattering all the way. I always, without fail, place a 'do not disturb' sign on my door but I really didn't need to bother here. In my mind anyone who talks in a hotel corridor is completely disrespectful to anyone sleeping behind those room doors. I don't do it and it's just good manners to keep quiet in such an environment.

BWLondonPeckham, General Manager at BEST WESTERN London Peckham Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Sir, Thank you for your feedback after your recent stay at the Best Western London Peckham Hotel.I am sorry you experienced disturbances after being allocated one of our rooms on the lower minus 1 level. If brought to the notice of our Reception team in this case we would depending on availability at the time, most certainly have re-located you to another room that you would find more suitable. I can assure you that all our different room types include on the level you stayed conform to the standards expected from a best Western Hotel. Unfortunately we have no control of guest movements in our corridors especially after returning from their days/evenings journeys, and do brief our security to patrol our hotel corridors to ensure when discovered any guests are being mindful of other guests privacy whilst passing through back to their rooms . I have taken your points on board re: the staff movements you have noted, and debriefed with the manager of that department concerned for future purposes and with our guests in mind. I hope you provide us another opportunity to provide a more superior service to you and ensure on this occasion your stay will be a peasant and comfortable one in all aspects. Kind Regards, Nishant M. Barua

20/09/2016

This hotel was good, clean and comfy. Good showers, enough warm water. Very comfy beds too. Staff was so nice and helpfull! Quality-price ratio is excellent. I give littlebit minus from location, cause there is about 5km way to city.. But just in front of the hotel is bus stop, and bus drives along Peckhamroad 24/7.

"Clean Hotel"

17/09/2016

Staying in London with friends, we had a ground floor room which was very spacious, the bathroom, which was more like a wet room was also large. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent. It is worth noting that although transport links are good, there was no underground link near to this hotel.

I took a chance and stayed at this hotel as a friend told me BW had took over. He was right the rooms are lovely and clean , to be honest I could not fault the place now, nor shall I. Parking still a pain , but not hotels fault. Plenty of shops and eateries about. Tube station bit of a hike, but lots of buses. No onsite bar or resturaunt ! .

"Small Twin room for 2 adults"

3
13/09/2016

Stayed here with my father for 3 nights beginning of August. Definitely the wrong choice for our situation. After struggling with our luggage off the local train and down steep stairs (no lift) we made our way eventually to the hotel only to find more stairs which we dragged our suitcases up. Unfortunately no assistance availalable. Stairs are steep with a large door to hold open so not an easy task for an 83yr old with a reasonably large suitcase. I'm younger (obviously) and it wasn't easy. Checked in and discovered our room was down some stairs, down a hallway, down more stairs, in the world's tinest lift (thank goodness for a lift) and then a narrow hall to the room. I think the 4th floor of the annexe to be exact. Room was clean enough but absolutely not enough room for 2 adults and their luggage so it was a case of musical suitcases for the 3 days as we moved in and out of the room. The shower was hopeless so I discovered the true meaning of a Pommie wash. We were desperate to call our relatives at our next destination but although there was a phone in the room no outside calls were permitted. Even if using a phone card or offering to put the cost on the credit card. Fortunately after a change of staff on the front desk one of the staff made the call for us which was greatly appreciated. Due to a technical issue with my phone provider in Australia my mobile phone had not been unlocked so we were without a phone. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast selection was great. We did have an issue with a lot of noise outside the bedroom window which turned out to be the Laundry down below. We could hear the dryers and machines operating during the night. The other issue was that the bedroom window looked directly out onto the Staff Smoking area so we got to enjoy the many conversations that took place while staff were on their breaks and unfortunately these were frequent and noisy. It woud be great if the smoking area could be moved or staff were to remain aware that hotel guests can and do hear everything they're saying. Our window would not fully shut so we were unable to block this out. Yes it was a budget hotel and I don't expect 5 star by any means but guests comfort should still be a priority. Location wise it was very easy to get a bus being on a main road.

12/09/2016

Only stayed one night and think for the price we paid it was ok. Stayed in room 451 was clean, the room was adequate air con worked well. The bathroom was a little compact and bijou and the sink was blocked so hubby sorted it out. The room was ok for us as we were only staying one night don't think I'd want to spend a week in it. Plenty of tea and coffee and a full size quick boil kettle. The coat hangers were not very good as the top part was made of plastic and kept coming apart. We had a dodgy light fitting so hubby removed it and we reported it on checkout. The staff were friendly and helpful. The lift wasn't working which for some may have been a problem. We ate the full breakfast which is served in the basement in a huge quirky retro dining room, the selection was ok, disappointed that we weren't asked how we like the food, did we want the eggs fried etc. Buses stop outside the hotel and there is a bus terminal about 5mins walk away. Lots of renovations going on but we weren't disturbed by it. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you want a cheap and cheerful place to stay in this area

had to stop in this hotel while i was working at nine elms for 10 nights had no complaints at all very friendly staff on reception. ok i had inside bedroom room 405 without a window but had window up in the roof letting in plenty of light, bedroom was on small size you would struggle as a couple but as i was by myself was ideal.ok peckham is not one of the best area,s of London but i went for walk after work every night and found locals very friendly so no complaints there, back to the hotel good clean bedroom and bathroom had breakfast which was enjoyable so for me thumbs up for this hotel

"Poor Front Desk Service"

1
02/09/2016

We booked a small room when visiting London, the room is really small. There is not even enough space to unpack our carry-on luggage, so be aware. We discovered there was no hot water for shower in the morning and the front desk people not offering any help but suggested us to wait for their maintenance to come on-site to repair. There was no offer for room change or free upgrade even there is one available. After pressing my case with the manager, we were only offered to take a shower in a room across from the hall way. This is not the quality I would expected from Best Western.

31/08/2016

We stayed for one night as we were visiting family in camberwell. We didn't stay the second night. The area is terrible, we were actually offered drugs by someone passing on our long long walk from where we ended up parking. The hotel has only 5 parking places and if you don't get one the chances of finding something else are slim. Rooms are tiny. We had to shimmy around the bed and only one of us could move at a time. The shower was cold. Construction work going on, hopefully to remove the trotters independent stickers from the bedroom wall. Like staying in a child's room. Not best western standard by any stretch and I've stayed in a lot for work and pleasure. Couldn't wait to get out and definitely not one we would return to.

Dear Madam, Thank you for your response following your recent stay with us at the Best Western London Peckham Hotel. I apologize on behalf of my team, that certain aspects of our property did not meet your expectations and standards and of the surrounding areas that we are located in. I am sorry for your unfortunate incident whilst walking from parking, which again is not a normal occurrence reported back to us by guests. We are very centrally located on the major road and bus routes to Central London for which we are chosen as a preferred location by many of our returning guests. We are especially well located to the destination of Camberwell which was your main purpose of visit, and hope this fulfilled your requirement. The car parking facility as mentioned on our website is based on a limited availability, and that we cant guarantee prior to arrival. We reiterate this for the guests understanding on arrival if not inquired before. The hotel bedrooms have been recently refurbished to a theme synonymous from the area and are to the the full standards expected from a Best Western Hotel as far as the different bedroom types are concerned.I am sorry your shower was cold and if reported at the time i am sure my team would have taken actions to rectify straight away. The construction work in the main lobby(and as advertised on the panels) is in preparation for our forthcoming new Food and Beverage facility, which will be an enhanced service we will be providing for our guests convenience. I do hope you will give us another opportunity here at the Hotel to prove to you that we will ensure your next visit is a pleasant and comfortable experience, and that we pride ourselves in as a Best Western Hotel. "Ok but small rooms"

30/08/2016

First the negatives The hotel is 15-20 mins from the nearest station (which isn't wheelchair friendly). So wouldn't suit someone disabled or doesn't like walking. Admitted we had an extra bed in our basement room but there was less than a foot of space around the beds. Website says it has a bar, it doesn't. Positives A bus stops outside which can take you straight to the London hotspots. It's cheap for London prices. Hotel is clean with aircon in the rooms. It's also 10mins walk from camberwell where there are nice restaurants and bars. There's also a bar (the Peckham pelican) next door which does good pizza.

"Lovely hotel in lovely part of London"

First time for my son and I to stay in the Peckham district and in the Peckham Hotel. Around the corner of the hotel there are loads of small shops, restaurants, a cinema, etc. With the West Indian roots all around and the nice weather this was the first thing that got us happy. Then the hotel: lovely building and we had room 323 (at the first floor). We specifically asked for a room not in the basement and that was no problem. Yes, the twin room is small but everything you need is there. The mattresses are good and the room was very clean. Bus stops in front of the hotel door that bring you direct to Victoria, Kennington, Oxford Circus etc. Shower in bathroom is good and clean. Hairblower in the bathroom. With a 24 hr grocery store next to the hotel and a Sainsbury's local at 5 minutes walking distance this was a great expercience (26-29 august 2016)

"Perfect for our needs."

We were totally satisfied with our 2 night stay at the hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the room was clean , comfortable and had every thing we needed. It was good value for the price. We were unable to sample breakfast as it started at 7am, offering a 6.30 continental would have been great. Would definitely use this hotel again.

I been here with my boyfriend for one weekend, Manuela was lovely, she helped us with everything she could. The room wasn't really amazing as we expected but still we cannot complain. For sure I will come back

The hotel was great especially the staff. Very friendly, clean and a nice stay. The car park was handy to use at a price. It made us laugh the miss spelling of independent (independant) traders. Lovely hotel certainly doesn't deserve the negative reviews it has had. We would CERTAINLY stay here again.

"Dark, outdoors and incredibly no clean rooms"

The unpleasant incidences were permanent from the very beginning. We booked 2 rooms. One double and one triple. The triple for our children (teenagers) was a double bed and a single one. But we need and expect 3 beds, but the hotel did not attend our demand. It seems they did not have this “triple room”. What kind of room is a king size bed room (theoretically 4, 5 people could lay in that bed)? Quadruple, Quintuple? This does not make any sense to put 5 people in one king size bed room. Accordingly, Triple room requires 3 beds, otherwise the information is not fair. The rooms were uncomfortable in different floors (-1 and 1); but also in opposite wings of the premises. Incredibly, we are a family on holidays for ten days in London!!! Not only a weekend… But no solution in TEN DAYS… The hotel was repairing and painting different floors, specially the -1 floor when our children had their room. AGAIN no solution, just put up with the unrest… Incredibly, bad odor, dirty and plastic in the floor, hammering noise from first thing in the morning in this -1 floor, but they did not change the room. They found the excuses that the hotel was being refurbished…. Then why they keep renting those noisy and dangerous rooms? AGAIN no solution. We booked a triple room with window, but this was a claustrophobic skylight inside a hole, like the end of a chimney. Incredibly, it is almost impossible to change the concept of a window by a skylight at the end of a tube, but it seems they found the way. IS this fair information or fair deal for a family? AGAIN no solution. It was normal the noise of the fire alarm. For us this is incredible. This was the first time in my life that I heard that sound several times and nothing happens. What is the reaction required if a fire alarm goes off? Leave the room isn't it? Well, apparently it was not necessary… “False alarm”… Is this serious in a hotel? One night “at 3 AM” the fire alarm rung for 3 times. I warned seriously the staff that if additional sounds happened that night, I would call the police…; and no more fire alarms sounded in the nights… Incredible isn´t it? In all warning literature you can learn that “a falsely sounded alarm endangers the lives of the firemen, hosts, guests, workers and other personnel ...” but in this situation who must exit the building?? They did not change at all the bedding in TEN DAYS. INCREDIBLE & unfortunate. The cleaning was simply absent. Hairs in the bathrooms, bad bed-making plenty of wrinkles under the quilt and other dirty rubber things under the bed, which you can imagine “forgotten” from prior guests… we were regrettably thunderstruck that day by day the rubber was and probably keeps under the bed… maybe waiting for the next refurbish in the 1st floor or the guy who forgot it. Among other incidences, those were part of a complete summary of inconveniences suffered in this place. As usual certain (SIMONA & GABRIELA) receptionists are polite and professional, to try to sugar the recurrent and cumulative annoying discomfort.

"A visit to see my new Nephew"

21/08/2016

My new Nephew was born and living in North Wales we needed somewhere relatively inexpensive to stay at short notice, near to King's college hospital and not far from East Dulwich, this hotel was perfect. Clean and comfortable with everything we needed. We chose not to have breakfast because we would be with family most of the day. The air conditioning was a blessing, despite leaking it was fixed immediately. Staff were attentive and friendly and we will be returning here and have already recommended it to other family members for the future.

"My stay"

21/08/2016

The hotel is not bad, has comfortable beds and everything i booked a room because i just needed a room to sleep so i can go out all day, but the hotel had a WEIRD smell that i couldn't bear. Make sure to book a room with a window because not all rooms have windows and it's recommended.

"Not bad"

3
19/08/2016

The staff make it clear from the start that they did not care about us. Our room was not ready by check in time, and they offered no apology, or reason as to why it wasn't ready. Once we finally checked in, the room was acceptable. The air conditioning was great, and the room was clean, but very small. This hotel is in sort of a shady area of town, so be careful about going walking around the area, especially at night. Tip: Avoid interacting with any member of the front desk staff. They truly don't care about you and will put you in a bad mood for the day if you let them.

Stayed here for 3 nights for a long weekend in London and it was lovely, don't really know why people are complaining! Quirky rooms which were very clean with tea/coffee, aircon, smart tv, wifi etc. The room was refreshed everyday and we had a free continental breakfast included in the price which was great considering we got 3 nights for £160. Its a 10 min walk from Peckham Rye station and there are bus stops 1minute either way which all get you into central London with the help of the city mapper app. If you like a good basic hotel that shows you a real bit of London then id reccomend Peckham Lodge!

"Check your bank statement"

04/08/2016

I have stopped in this hotel the past two weeks. This week I discovered I was charged twice for last week's stay, In order to prove this I had to send an email to the manager with a copy of the bank statement etc. This week I asked for breakfast to be included. It clearly says on my booking confirmation that breakfast is included. Every morning I have to pay for breakfast and then claim it back afterwards when checking out! The organisation of this hotel is a joke. The manager on Tuesday evening 2nd August was incredibly rude, reading my email about the refund, then talking to another lady for ten minutes leaving me standing there, before telling me to come back in twenty minutes! As of this moment the refund has still not arrived in my bank... CHECK YOUR STATEMENT!

Hotel was nice, rooms comfortable, there was a weird smell in the bathroom and the air conditioning was a little dodgy, but nothing really to complain about. To all of the people moaning about the 'unsavoury' location - it's Peckham, it's a multicultural place, that doesn't make it unsavoury. I loved the location - it was full of life and colour.

"Sorry Best Western....not your 'best'"

There are 3 things I consider when I stay at a hotel: Location & Value, Room & Amenities, and Service & Experience. Location: This location was not convenient and was located in an undesirable neighbourhood. I didn't feel safe walking from the train station to the hotel. It was also difficult to find the location as the streets were not well marked. Tip: If you do take the train, make your way to Canada Water station and take the overground train to Peckham Rye station. At Peckham Rye, walk out past the McDonald's, keep going past the KFC, turn left at the Subway, walk past the Burger King and the hotel will up on the left. It is a 8-10 minute walk. Tip to Best Western: Have better directions on your web site, rather than just driving directions. Value: Expensive for a suburban hotel. I originally booked 4 nights but changed to 1 night. I paid a little extra to stay at a Grange hotel at Tower of London. Room: The family room was ok. It was a little tight and felt like a combination of a cruise ship/hostel. There was also street noise and hotel noise. The hotel decided to perform maintenance at 7:30am - which woke me up. Service: Was poor. Staff were not well trained and had poor articulation. Would not stay here again or recommend.

Me and my husband stayed at the weekend and after reading all the bad reviews I was a little worried but there was nothing to complain about. It is a beautiful hotel, clean rooms and lovely reception staff. Great for getting into London City Centre. Will definitely stay here again.

"Poor value for money"

1
01/08/2016

We stayed in Peckham for one night for a party at a cost of £76 a night. The room we had was no reflection on what was advertised online. The room was so small and not enough space for 2 people to comfortably walk round. There was no bed side table which was most inconvenient. The TV was not working, it was promptly fixed but no apology. WIFI was not free. The milk with my tea was rancid and had to be disposed of. The window was a sky line one that offered no view and gave a claustrophobic feel to hotel I found the manner of staff robotic. Plus points was clean , well decorated and bed comfortable. This all would have been acceptable at half the price.

"As good as you can expect for this price category in London"

31/07/2016

Yes, the rooms wasn't huge (especially the bathroom). And the door to the balcony turned out to be a door to the roof, with a catch which mean that the door could neither be fully opened nor fully closed. There was also a bit of an odour coming from the bathroom, which smelt like the pipes needed a good clean. But the room was nicely put together, clean, reasonable check-out time, secure parking available, friendly reception staff and free wifi. 85 pounds for a family room in London is not bad going, so we weren't all that troubled by the niggles I mentioned above. If you want bigger and better, it's probably going to cost more in London :-)

"Nice but"

This hotel suites your needs. Clean room, but construction in hotel was a bit noisy. Will be nice when they are finished. within walking distance to bars and restaurants. but off beaten track for double decker hop on hop off and most attractions

"Poor for the money paid"

30/07/2016

We booked 2 rooms: family room for 4 and small double to for 2, paid 656 Pound. The hotel is currently under reconstruction. The family room is in the main building, but the inside is not as shown in the photos, but some sort of super tiny pent house with a single bed downstairs and 2 beds upstairs. It was in convenient as we travelled with elderly. Instead of spending money on decorating the room With broken clock (those clocks on the wall are purely decorative, ridiculous), they should invest in a functioning telephone in the room. We asked for a different room they said they don't have the room as advertised! The small double room is in the building next door (connected with the main building) opposite the hotel car park. We don't mind it being small, but the hairdryer is broken, the bathroom door could use some lubrication, we got stuck in there twice! The towel is stained! Disgusting! And previous reviews were right, lots of fire doors! With lots of ups and down in between. Inconvenient to get to your room, especially when you have large luggages! Also you have to walk up at least 10 steps to get to the main entrance! Our room is not just small, the ceiling is low, so beware if you are very tall. Other than that, comfy bed. the Air conditioning AC, hot water are good. Kettle and some teas and coffees are provided. There is a lift in Both main and annex building. wifi is OK.

"Great value for London, but nothing special"

25/07/2016

My fiancé and I stayed at Best Western London Peckham Hotel for 3 nights. Getting of the train in Peckham was a little unsettling as it doesn't appear to be in a clean or safe looking area. Once we got closer to the hotel (roughly 15 minute walk away), the area became cleaner. We arrived before check in and were able to store our luggage while we ventured into London. When we arrived again, after the 2pm check in, we were told our room was not ready. We had flown overseas on the overnight flight and were extremely tired, but we were kept waiting. The front desk staff did not seem to care that our room was not ready and we waited nearly 20 minutes before they could check us in. The room was small, but not uncomfortable. We were facing the main road and it was noisy all day/night. We had requested a room in a quiet location, but they did not honour the request. The room did have a private toilet/shower, which was quite hard to find in London. Best Western had bought out the hotel between the time we booked and the time we stayed, and it looks like they've done some renovations, but very basic "bandaid" fixes. There is a bus around the corner from the hotel that takes about 30 minutes to get into central London, which was extremely convenient. There was nothing majorly wrong with the hotel, but there was also nothing special about it. If you're looking for a fairly cheap hotel to just sleep in with a decent connection into London, then I would suggest it.

"Never Again"

19/07/2016

The building itself is a pretty Victorian with lots of half-floors and corridors. However, all of those half floors and corridors are not conducive to transporting luggage. Our room was in a basement corner which felt cold and slightly damp. There was a fire door right outside our door which was supposed to stay closed, but was always open. It's a nonsmoking property but it smelled like someone was going out there to smoke. There were several small bugs on the wall outside our room and a few inside. It seems like it had been a problem for a while, as there was a dead one smashed on the bathroom door when we got to the room. There was also a bit of black mold on the low bathroom ceiling. We would have simply asked for a room change, however, we were also very uneasy in the area. The walk from the Peckham/Rye tube was just short of terrifying. My husband was harassed before we even left the station. The staff will tell you the area is safe. We did not feel safe at all, especially at night. So even though we were booked for four nights we checked out after the first night.

"Clean budget"

19/07/2016

Pros: Very clean, great customer service, right on a 24 hour bus line, comfortable, elevator, air conditioning Cons: Pretty far from London center (took approximately 40 minutes by bus every day), front desk staff speaks limited English, could hear room traffic from the room, could hear other guests through the walls Summary: If you are looking for a clean, affordable hotel this is it. If you are looking for fancy amenities or closer to London center, keep looking.

"Only suitable for one night."

Twin room - accommodation only - was £92 for one night, breakfast had to be paid for separately via getting a voucher from reception in the morning, choice of Continental or Full English - £15 for the two of us. Very poor selection if you opt for Continental. Room was tiny, o.k. for us as we only wanted somewhere to sleep after attending a local wedding reception. However if you were up in London for a couple of days sightseeing and wanted somewhere to relax and kick your shoes off for the evening, then forget it. No room to sit anywhere, so you would have to lie on the bed. En suite shower was tiny too, nowhere to put washbag and you certainly could not have a wash and get dressed in the privacy of a bathroom, there was not the space. Looked out onto a brick wall about 30ft high, so I suppose it was the back or side of another building, but it did make the room dark. The good points though are that it was spotlessly clean, beds were comfortable, and fifty yards from the front door was a bus stop and the number 12 took you into Trafalgar Square. This hotel is on a busy main road and there is nowhere, not even any shops, to stroll to in an evening, therefore you really don't have much option other than to sit in your room.

"Clean, comfortable but bizarre"

16/07/2016

The Only Fools and Horses theme is hilarious/ a bit weird when you first encounter it. It was also a bit weird that there were no windows. It took ages to check in on a very rainy day when I was desperate to get into my room to change. However when they did get to me the staff were very friendly. Also the room was clean, comfortable and very reasonable. I'd definitely stay here again when in Peckham.

"Better than expected"

14/07/2016

After reading reviews i was sceptical of what this stay would entail, however, i was pleasantly surprised. The room was 141 and it was small, so it is only a short stay hotel, but it was big enough to have a pleasant overnight stay. I do agree with past travellers that there is a damp smell, but it wasn't too overpowering and we were able to ignore it. The bedroom overall was lovely, it was clean and well equipped. Loved the big tv! I have no concerns over the cleanliness or any faults. The bed was comfy, and we had a good nights sleep thanks to the a/c however we did hear quite a bit of corridor noise that woke us up earlier than we would have liked. We did not have the breakfast as we thought it was a bit expensive. The staff at reception were very pleasant and helpful, and when we needed to print off attraction vouchers they helpfully did this for us. The wifi is free you just need to collect a voucher from reception. The hotel is a half hour bus journey on the number 12 from all the attractions which was great but we had to buy an oyster card for £5 and then bus fare of £1.50 each way to travel which was a bit annoying. In terms of parking we parked on a street opposite the hotel for free as £15 was too expensive in our eyes for the hotel car park. Overall, a nice stay and would stay here again. The only suggestion would be to maybe give the rooms a bigger bin as we felt they were minuscule and could hardly fit anything in.

"Very disappointing"

08/07/2016

We had booked and paid 2 rooms via booking.com When we arrived they can not find our booking . After a very long time of searching we finally get 2 rooms. Rooms at 9 sqm. the smallest room was about 4 square meters , and had no window!! The rooms were tacky and smelled of mold and rot. But there is air conditioning in all rooms . We discovered that we were charged for 3 rooms. After long discussion we got refunded this. we used a total of about 2.5 hours in the lobby discussing. The ladies at the front desk seem unprofessional , and would hardly regret what had happened . The breakfast was relatively expensive and not particularly delicate. Good TV with many channels . If you want to charge two phones you have to wait , there is only one socket in the room .The hotel is about 30 minutes by bus from central London . I do not recommend this hotell, and we are not going back !

"Cheap and not so cheerful"

1
08/07/2016

The only thing that might be said in favour of this place is that its cheap for London. But the room was unbelievably small. My shower was dangerously hot - couldn't be turned down - and I couldn't use it. And the phone to reception didn't work. Won't be going to this place again.

"Miscommunication, no help, poor service "

06/07/2016

Loud trolleys repeatedly passing our basement room window woke us up in the morning. After realising i had left my 90 pound electric toothbrush in the room I rang and it took me just short of a week for them to finally contact housekeeping to check for it. I was told it wasn't there and that 'the hotel had no interest in keeping my toothbrush'. As I'm positive it was in the room I'm extremely disappointed by the attitudes and actions of the hotel and staff. No help.

Guest/s: 1 Night/s: 2 Room: Standard Double Ensuite * Check in/out: Was able to check in a couple of hours before 2pm, which was fantastic. Speedy early morning check out. * Staff: Incredibly friendly staff! * Location: Bus stops adjacent, train station not too far of a walk. On a busy road. * Room: Quite a small room. Not ideal for a long stay but fine for short stay. Well laid out considering the space limitations. Bathroom/water pressure was a bit of a letdown but again did well with the space. * Wifi: wifi available, free. * Food & Beverage: There's breakfast on site but I didn't end up having brekky there. Some good coffee places nearby and lots of takeaway joints. * Notes: The hotel is kind of a weird one. Not bad weird, but it had the feel of a former hostel or student accommodation or something. The slightly oddball I mention in the title refers to the decor of the place, like it is a few things mashed together. Definitely more of a B&B vibe than a hotel vibe in some respects (quite a bit of comic sans), but also thoroughly professional staff wise. I found myself on the southside for most of my stay so it was a handy location. Fantastic value for 50 pounds a night!

"Surprised"

04/07/2016

Having known and avoided this establishment in its previous existence we were keen to see it upgraded. It's only a 10 min walk from our son so we gave it a try. Pleasantly surprised. The interior still retains its original floors and stairways but has had a modern look applied with an "Only Fools and Horses" theme. Our room (327) was to the rear, away from the main road noise so I assume was quieter by result. It is also tucked in a corner off the main corridor, cutting down corridor noise. A good choice for light sleepers. The room itself was quite small with not a lot of room to move around but as we were only getting there to sleep it wasnt a big issue for a couple of nights. Beds and pillows brilliant. Douvet too warm though, even with the efficient air con. Bathroom small but perfectly formed!! Loads of hot water and good shower pressure. Amenities tray with coffee and tea most welcome. Would use it again if I can get a room in the rear.

Best Western is an internationally famous brand whose hotels are not cheap (though to be fair there are many many more expensive hotels to be had in South London). For the price, you would be forgiven for expecting accommodation that was within squinting distance of "palatial" - even in Peckham, even in a hotel with at least one "Trotter family"-themed room. You will be disappointed. I was required to change rooms during my stay - and both rooms were simply too small - in fact they compare poorly to certain low-budget B&Bs in certain satellite towns. Needless to say, they also had matchbox-sized toilet facilities. But the biggest problem with this hotel is that, despite oe because of its being a Victorian building, it has not been subjected to any refurbishments to improve access for the disabled (or the "struggling with lots of luggage"). Ramps - none. Flights of stairs - at every turn! Deep pile carpeting (a potential obstacle to movement for those with chairs or wheeled suitcases). Let's be grateful for small mercies - it did have a lift! PS: Like so many businesses nowadays, it did not appear to employ very many customer-service staff who actually spoke English fluently and comprehensibly. Nor did they appear well-trained in the I.T hardware and software they were required to use.

Booked this well in advance as soon as I had secured my AC/DC tickets for Olympic Park. Rooms are adequate for a brief visit such as mine, tea and coffee making facility, nice hot shower and modern bathroom. Towels provided, plus soaps. It is a 5 minute gentle stroll to Peckham Rye overground to connect you with the underground services to get you around the City. I noticed the rack rate when I arrived was £110 per night...it certainly isn't worth that but it is well priced and not that far away from everything. I didn't have a breakfast so can't comment on food, staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Make sure you get a visitor Oyster card, as that was the best tip I had passed on to me

Stayed in a double room. I was expecting a themed room like on the website. We didn't get this instead we got a very small room that had images of cogs on the wall. Not a good room if your clostrophobic Car park was £15. However we found free parking near by. Breakfast, we had continental which consists of the basic ( boiled eggs, croissants, choc pastry, mixed fruit, fresh fruit, cereal and toast). The staff where friendly but not very helpful as they were not aware of the area much.

Dear Kforu, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry that you found your room to be small, we will keep your preference in mind for your next stay. The room in which you stayed is a themed room called Working Memoirs, maybe next time you would prefer the only fools and horses one, Council Couture? I hope that you will recommend us to your family and friends. We look forward to welcoming you back as our guest in the future. Best Regards, Katie Williams Customer Relations.

"Good room but no curtains!!"

19/06/2016

Decided to stay here because I know the area well (so not put off by location and crowd) and because it's a Best Western so expecting basic standards are met and taking the brand name as assurance for "quality". I got a room on the top floor - it was small (not unusual for London), bathroom, bed etc were all fine; newly refurbished and working. The big let down was the fact that the roof window didn't have a curtain or blind - so not only can people from other buildings look into the room, during summer sun rises very early so you have bright daylight after a few hours of darkness. Initially though there was a way of blacking out the room - had to get someone from reception at 10h30 at night (took him 40min to turn up and only after having called again...) whose first reaction to the room was "do you actually like sleeping here (pointing to the slanted ceiling)"..long story short: there is no way to blackout the room, I explained to reception next day who tried to find a new room ("we have one but it's in a different building...") but also didn't find it strange there were no curtains (empathy?? Putting customer first??) Bring an eye mask and ear plugs in case you are given a room on the top floor. Shame but BW no longer stands as a brand for me that I can rely on, giving me a good nights sleep! This is the reason for the overall rating - I otherwise would def have rated it higher!

Great Hotel, newly renovated and modern. Was staying for 3 nights, and have no complaints about the hotel whatsoever. And the Wifi is free and superb! was streaming movies on the big flatscreen every night. The only reason I'm not giving 5/5 is the area close to, called Pecham. Instead of taking the train to Peckham Rye, we took it to Denmark Hill, and enjoyed the 20 minutes walk to the Hotel.

The two nights that I spent here were really nice. The staff were really helpful when I had any questions, and they had a good knowledge of places local to the hotel that I could visit in the evenings. I will definitely consider staying here again.

Booked this hotel only couple of hours before, must say was pleasantly surprised, the room was compact (2 single beds) but nicely decorated and very clean, comfortable and quiet considering on main road in London
