SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Lompoc, Lompoc

On our trip up the California coast, we visit Solvang. A great experience and break from driving. Hotel cost in Solvang was more than we wanted to spend. So elected to stay on Lompoc as the price was half the cost. Registration was easy, however, the Wi-Fi was insufficient to run some of my iPad apps. The room also had a slight order. Breakfast was lacking compared to our stay at other Best Westerns.

Desk Sevice was terrible as when I checked out no staff at counter for over 20 minutes. No window screens in room. Everything in room was old. Their version of breakfast was a bottle of water and a apple in a brown bag, NOT!

Dirty rooms with mold in the shower, toilet not secured to the floor, no working hot tub, no breakfast and many people loitering the property. Try the Motel 6 next door. I'm a Premier Customer and don't plan to stay here again.

I would never stay here again. When I checked and only had my license with my previous address and they told me that they were not allowing locals to stay at hotel and were not going to let me stay. ( I previously lived in a nearby city.

Stayed for a few days to do some work in the area. The room was clean, and hotel was nice. seemed like only one ice machine on the three floor. Kind of a pain to get ice. there are a lot of places close to eat at. Seemed to be a lot of parking. I think I would stay again if in the area.

It is a Motel 6 by any other name. The room is small, the ice machine broken and the wallpaper peeling. The refrigerator unsecured and rocky. I was just expecting a Best Western for the money I paid. Older and wiser.

False advertising about fill hot breakfast. Wasted our money on brown bag grab and go nonsense. Elevator on suite building is shady and we darn near got stuck. Used the stairs instead. Front desk is barely friendly. Ugh.

Hot tub not working. Needed something to warm up in since Lompoc is the Alaska of Cali. Cold winds all day and night. Brown bag breakfast like you give homeless people. Lobby kept at 63 degrees to match outside air.

We were traveling in an RV and booked this hotel in order to charge our electronics and do laundry. There was one electrical outlet in our room and dozens of people doing laundry. We were unable to do laundry. Way too expensive for the amount of amenities.

I generally get good value from Best Western properties. Now that I have started traveling again, I booked this BW using points. The confirmation said points fully paid the tariff. At check-in there was a charge. The desk clerk said she couldn't do anything about it. The confirmation said “full breakfast.” A sack was available. The room was mostly clean. I dusted the lamp and wouldn't use the tub/shower. There are about 6 hotels clustered in this area. Choose someplace else.

Where do we start? Let us preface this that we're members of the Best Western Rewards program & our stays in the past at this hotel chain have been overwhelmingly positive. Not this time. We felt more like unwitting participants in a corporate misrepresentation & somewhat duped. It all started with an initial & favorable impression upon check-in. The lobby was modern & presentable and the front desk representative professional & personable. She accommodated our request for a high floor which ultimately led to the unraveling of this saga. When woken up on our first night around 3 am by some commotion in our hallway - for about an hour - by multiple individuals we chalked it up to an isolated incident. The disturbance continued at 6am. Taking a peek in the hallway revealed the loud exodus of "guests" down the stairways - not the elevators. The commotion spilled over to the parking lot behind the hotel below our window. The entire area slowly & for hours became the staging area for what we deemed to represent migratory workers by the hundreds, being corralled by "contractors." It had a undignified feel to it. Speaking of corralling, we uncovered - by an employee's own narrative - that this hotel uses 3 of the 4 floors for those workers and tries to confine paying guests to the first floor in an obvious attempt to minimize contact. We were offered to relocate to the first floor as well but declined because previous guests have complained of upstairs noise. There are bunk beds added to the rooms to accommodate the maximum numbers of workers in each space. Surely a proud company such as Best Western does not sanction this use of its brand much less the lack of transparency to its costumers. We overheard other patrons wondering aloud. By its very utilization this particular Best Western Plus might have seized to exist as a hospitality licensee. A written invitation seeking comment from General Manager Amir Patel went unanswered. Silence speaks volumes. On a side note, the advertised "full breakfast" is a brown bag with a granola bar, water, apple & muffin. A week before we stayed at another Best Western Plus serving a hot "a la carte" breakfast with a multitude of choices. There is simply no COVID - excuse for a branded hotel for not serving a decent meal anymore. Please also note the expired elevator certificate which has been "unofficially updated" The only reason this establishment earned an upgrade to 2 stars was our clean room.

Great 30 day rate for a golf trip. Internet was spotty. Housekeeping staff were great. Front desk mostly good. Hot tub was great. Would go again but hope they get back (post covid) to afternoon happy hour and excellent breakfast.

When booking with Best Western you expect a quality experience, but this was not what we got, it was obvious that the door to the room had been kicked in, there was mold in the air conditioner and the drapes on the window was threadbare and torn. It was past its prime and we will not be booking with them again,

This is an old hotel; everything is old and outdated. The towels are thin, discolored and threadbare with age. They still use Covid as an excuse not serving breakfast buffet. The breakfast "bag" is a joke: the smallest, not fresh apple, all packaged stuff and a bottle water, not even juice! Perhaps they need a remodel, replacing towels and restarting the breakfast...

This is a great place to enjoy the local area. The rooms are clean, comfortable and the staff is always polite. We only stay at this location when we are visiting our family on the central coast. During the summer the pool area is great for having a small family gathering

Very dirty in common areas and room. They spend daily supposedly cleaning rooms but cleaning is very superficial. Carelessness in elementary things of the toilet with shower and w.c In the corridors you see litter and it smells ugly Garbage accumulated in cans with food scattered

The walls are thin and the noise from other rooms and outside will keep you up all night. If some one is in the room above you, you can hear them walk around. This motel appears to be out dated and needs to be renovated.

We were not greeted when we arrived employee was training another employee. The heater in our room the vent was broken and all the buttons were worn out and didn't work so we requested a blanket and she said we had to go downstairs to get the blanket. Then we were put in another room and the water faucet was extremely hard to use. This hotel is outdated and needs some major repairs.

I am a trainer, so I travel frequently for work. I was in the area and decided to stay here as it looked good online. When I arrived, the room looked very old and outdated, scratches on the wall, the furniture chipped. But it looked okay and clean. I went to bed and woke up later that night at about 1am scratching and noticed I had 9 new bug bites. I was unable to go back to sleep as this really freaked me out. I Complained to the management, they said they would have their managers reach out that day. I ended my stay and went and booked down the street at the Hilton which was so much better. A complete night and day experience! It has been three days and I still have not heard back from management. Not a happy experience at all.

Room size is decent, cleanliness is really bad, inside the room cockroaches were everywhere, a lot of dirty stains in the carpet, every single trash can out side was flowing with trash, the elevator made a weird unsafe sound.

Don't waste your money at this hotel. The rooms smell like sewage and mold. They send the poor maid to fix it but she can't because it's in the carpet, walls and halls so she sprays some flower mist. The toilet was broke, there is trash falling all around trash cans. GROSS! Stay at Embassy Suites at least it's clean.

This hotel was basically clean. Most things were just OK. The internet never connected for me, but I didn't really need it. In general, the hotel was quite noisy which made sleep difficult. People seemed to get up very early and move through the hallways without concern for others who might have been trying to sleep.

This place is a dump. It is old, needs to be fixed and re-furbished. Their breakfast is not a breakfast but simple crap. The shower faucets do not work without excessive force. My lady was not able to turn it on, I had to operate it for her. They do not stock toilet paper in the rooms only a very minimal amount was provided, use the klenex tissues.

Good to stay one night but no more then that, Hotel is clean but guess were questionable too many smoking on stair case . Room was clean ,mattress was bad my son complain this is a 15 year old what does he know about a good mattress but he was right .lol

We had an excellent stay here in Lompoc. We visited Solvang on New Year's day which is not far at all. Our stay was very relaxing and enjoyable. Lompoc is a nice getaway for the family. I will be back.

I stayed here with my son last minute as in was too tired to drive out of town. I took the time to select the best hotel I could afford and judging by the number of stars, reviews, pictures and the fact that they had a refrigerator in the room I chose to stay here. I could have stayed at motel 6 for a cheaper price and would have gotten a nicer room. The wall paper is peeling off the wall, there is raw moldy wood by the window, the remote was sticky, random dirt and stains on the walls- the list goes on. See pictures below. All this “WITH ALL THE COVID 19 precautions & cleanliness standards” BS! I had to wipe everything down, wear my shoes the entire time, didn't want to touch anything, and slept in my street clothes! The cable also didn't work and internet- forget it! To top it off I kept bumping into the refrigerator that is half way sticking out. I should have spent an extra $20 and stayed someplace else.

This is a very clean place to stay. the staff are helpful and friendly. Loved stay in the suite. I will come back to this hotel. The suite had everything I needed to cook if i wanted to. Plenty of space to invite our friends over . I liked one TV in the bedroom and one in the living room. The weather was perfect and the hotel is easy to get too. Grocery Store across the street with places to eat within walking distance.

I really don't understand how hotels can have such useless internet in 2020. I lost connection several times PER HOUR. I tried reconnecting several times per day, nothing helped. At one point I had 0.54 mgbs download.... satellite and dialup are higher than that! I feel like my laptop was being throttled and disconnected. I couldn't even make it through watching a single YouTube video without it dropping connection to the internet.

This is my home away from home! While I work (teach) in town I feel comfortable at SureStay. When my rental condo got a bad mold issue, I lived there. Delicious and nutritious breakfast, snacks & happy hour. I value my privacy and I always feel respected by the staff. Staff is flexible. They resolve any issue promptly. I have stayed there over 100 nights in the past two years. I will continue to stay there when I work because I have since moved out of Lompoc. Thank you SureStay! Carri & Princess

This was perfect since my Mom lives in Lompoc. The hotel had a very nice lobby. Coffee 24 hours a day. A Happy Hour with POPCORN (which I love), beer, and lots more from 5-7. The queen room was nice overlooked the airport, but didn't hear much, still quiet! The employees really care about you and seem to want to make you happy! The room was perfect, everything working and very clean. Wifi worked great, too. I am a happy customer and will return there again!!!! It was very reasonable!!!!!!

Upon Arrival I was greeted by Gloria, very friendly and understanding. She was very accommodating as well. Breakfast starts at 6:00am, which worked perfect for my as I had to head out for a Spartan race.

We have stayed here over the years and management changes. Glad to see Best Western has decided to come here. The was clean and staff helpful. The full breakfast and wine and beer happy hour is a plus. Note: the standard rooms are great but an upgrade to a suite, which is not a wallet buster, gives you a kitchenette.

Our stay was phenomenal, customer service was on point since the moment of check in. Early check in with no fee as early at 10:30 am. It was perfect for our trip. Everything about this hotel is great!!! Perfect for a day trip or for an extended stay! Did I mention all you can eat waffles and awesome breakfast choices!!

Noisy and smelly room. crazy and disorganized breakfast room. Elevators kind of old and makes you wonder if something is going to go wrong. I believe for the money you are paying the least it can be done is to have a quieter room and free of bad odors (more exhaust).

Excellent Hotel with Kitchenette(almost half of the rooms) for families and its location is good with many shops nearby. Will be a calm stay for sure and sweet surprise is the Happy Hour except Sundays! Breakfast was very good and the staff there was very friendly and smiling all the time!!

The Suites are big and clean. It was nice to have a kitchenette during our stay. We didn't use the pool but it's heated. The entire staff was helpful and friendly. Gloria's recommendations for dinner delivery and Lunch at the Slash in Pismo Beach were perfect.

The beer in the hospitality room tasted nothing like the brand advertised. My room had a large piece of used white chewing gum stuck on top of a dark brown headboard. It was clearly visible with enough dust around it for me to write my name. Based on the appearance, the gum had been there for a couple weeks. The chain had disconnected from the lever making the toilet unable to flush. I fixed it myself. There were two vehicles in the parking lot in various stages of disarray with vehicle parts removed (door,seats) and people performing maintenance. Throughout the night there were people walking through the parking lot aimlessly. They did not appear to be guests. On a positive note. The woman who ran the breakfast facility was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast area was clean, well-organized and food was better prepared than most places I've stayed.

We arrived very early for our reservation, they kept our luggage for us, and made sure it would be easy to retrieve. The entire hotel was super clean. Beds were very comfortable, although we are used to a kind-sized bed, so the queen-sized was a bit difficult. The breakfast room was large and the selection of food was good. There was a lady making the waffles to order, that was nice. This is the best place we've stayed in Lompoc.

the rooms are big( 2 about +3kids ) The room is actually separated with a half wall between queen bed and the living room& has two TVs. The kitchen had more than what I expected and Every thing was clean.

Did a 6 hour drive to get here and after checking in i was pleased to hear that they had an area to get a complimentary beer. Went up to our room to unpack and was greeted with a clean room, unpacked. Went to get our beer and they also offered popcorn and nachos. Was a nice break after the long drive and let us relax and enjoy our stay here more. The breakfast in the morning was just what we needed before starting out in the morning for another long drive. For the money we really enjoyed our stay here. Nice and friendly staff.

Hotel was good value because of good rate during a flash sale. Breakfast was decent. Had waffles, eggs, sausage, pastries and cereal. Very similar to what you get in Choice Hotels. Eggs were bland. They had two waffle makers which was nice for it gets crowded on weekends. Would be nice if there were additional seating areas near pool that didn't require you to use your room key to go back and forth between the pool area and breakfast room. The Breakfast Staff was very good! Super friendly and kept things stocked and clean. Also gave my daughter crayons and a coloring book - went above what was expected! Room was clean and in good shape. Only complaint was that the carpet did leave socks very dirty. May be because the nearby beach (Jalama Beach) has a lot of tar that some people may track back to the rooms. Should consider shampooing the carpets more regularly. Hotel is right on the outskirts of town. It was very quiet. But not within walking distance of very many restaurants. Pool is advertised as heated but it's not heated during the summer. My 5 yr old daughter and I froze during a night swim in August. But grounds were well kept and they did provide pool towels. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Our suite had a full kitchen with all the utensils--pots and pans, silverware, dishware, can opener, wine opener. The sofa bed was new and it was comfortable. The breakfast was great with biscuits and gravy, bacon and eggs, full assortment of breads, waffles, fruits, etc. The space was a bit small for the number of people eating breakfast. All in all SureStay in Lompoc is a solid place to stop.

I was visiting family in Lompoc and stayed here a few nights. I would have normally stayed at the Hilton Garden next door but the price difference was enough to make me choose this one. Based on the reviews, it sounded pretty solid, and I was not disappointed. The staff are excellent and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The free breakfast is better than the ones I usually have on executive floors with Hilton. This Best Western really feels like a nice Double Tree with better amenities. I was at the beginning of a week long trip through California and took advantage of the laundry facilities on site. A definite plus. Definitely worth a stay for a budget traveler.

When I last stayed at this property in 2016, it was quiet, the staff was friendly and helpful, and pet-friendly. This time none of these were true. Huge busloads of tourists made sure that the halls stayed loud till late at night and made the breakfast room impossibly crowded and noisy. Staff couldn't be bothered with the basic requests like a printout of my folio or a set of clean towels (standing right in front of a fully stocked housekeeping cart). Mattress was awful, woke up with a backache both nights. Room decor is ugly, window air conditioner was old--buttons worn off, and very loud. Thankfully only needed it for a few minutes. I only stayed here because I was traveling on business and my employer made the reservation. I will not stay here of my own choice.

We stayed here for an overnight as we were heading north on 101. It was easy to find and we were pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel is. Our room was quiet and comfortable, and we liked the breakfast options (eggs, biscuits, gravy, waffles) and also that the breakfast room was spacious. It was an easy drive over to Solvang.

We arrived early and the front clerks tried to get us checked-in but the room had not yet been cleaned. They advised us to have lunch and a room should be available on our return, which it was. They recommended two restaurants. We had lunch at one and dinner at the other. Both were good. Room was on the small side but was clean and comfortable, which are my main requirements. I would stay here again. The great service was appreciated.

I had an amazing stay with this property. I am a hotelier and there are things I notice being in the industry for so long. All the staff are amazing and welcoming, they are on point with the 5/10 rule and very eager to help. Ignacio from engineering is a rock star! Sun Tao from the hospitality room during breakfast was awesome, she was very quick and pleasant. My father is handicapped,and she was extremely helpful to him in the mornings. Amir was a wealth of information and delivered great customer service. I am looking forward to my next visit with your property!

Looking for a Best Western and glad we found this Sure Stay instead. This is our second stay at a Sure Stay by Best Western and it was as good or better than some of the Best Western plus we stayed at with a better price. The staff was helpful and our room was clean. The hotel also had an evening social gathering which offered snacks and drinks. Prices at Sure Stay seem to be lower on average than a Best Western and, so far, we have been quite satisfied with the rooms and service and enjoy saving a few dollars.

They offer wine and nacho dinner. Complimentary. As well as breakfast. Hot tub was nice. Rooms were mostly clean other than someone else's makeup on my wash cloth. Also... worst bed I have ever slept on. Literally the worst!!

A comfortable BW hotel at the northern end of the town. Rooms generally Ok but a little gloomy and there is a lot of noise when water is being used in adjacent rooms so be prepared to be woken early. Breakfast is standard BW fare but the lady in attendance was very pleasant and helpful so you forgive the rubbery scrambled egg. Overall good value

Driving north on hwy 1 on bus/leisure trip. Needed a room for one night with abbreviated cooking facilities. The Good: great price, fantastic friendly helpful staff, quiet location, clean facilities throughout, and just enough utensils in little kitchen to make a dinner. The Bad: room is dark because of small window but that can't be changed and we arrived after dark and left by 9:30 AM next morning. The cooked items for breakfast were not worth eating but plenty of other things to eat; yogurt, apples, bananas, pears, really good pasties made by local bakery, juices, cereal, waffle. The Ugly: nothing Stay here when you are passing through or doing business in the area. It is not a resort but we saw several young families at breakfast.

Staff is great. Rooms I have had are quiet. Nice pool area. Breakfast is included with a reasonable selection and great staff. Happy hour is nice and drinks may be taken out to sit around the patio when weather permits.

Good price, friendly staff, nice, clean, and quiet rooms. Breakfast is ok, consisted of eggs, thin dry bacon, waffles, hard/dry biscuits, and ok gravy. Other options include cold cereal, good coffee, tea fruit, yogurt, milk, juice, and pasties/bread. Will definitely stay again in the future.

DAMON, The Front desk guy was very rude to me, seems to be bothered by people of color ! Very unprofessional rag bag appearance !! Can't believe Best Western has a person like him at the front desk ! he needs to be gone !

I always stay here when on business and have for several years. Clean, quiet, friendly and at a reasonable cost. Breakfast is decent as well. I unequivocally would recommend them. Over the years, I have stayed at many (if not most) of the motels in this area but always end-up back here.

Needed a hotel for a couple of days and most were sold out. I would probably not chosen this hotel actually, but did due to the cost of the room and the availability when most other (so called better rated hotels were sold out). I am very glad it ended up that way! The staff were all so nice and accommodating and efficient!! The hotel was clean, the bed was comfy and breakfast was very very good, I love biscuits and gravy! But it was a great place to stay and I would definitely CHOOSE this hotel again over all the others. I didn't even mind that I had to go out to Lompoc for a visit to Orcutt, it was worth the drive.

I have been traveling to the area the last couple of months for business and have stayed at this hotel 3 different times. The hotel is priced right. I usually stay in the queen suites. The hotel is an older hotel, dated, but kept up. The tv's in the room could be a little bigger. The staff at check in have always been awesome, always treated very good and checked in without issues. The hotel is in a very good location in Lompoc CA. I would definitely recccommend this hotel.

10 of us stayed at this hotel recently on our way back home from a trip. The service, room cleanliness, food & other amenities were excellent. The staff was very courteous & helpful especially the breakfast room staff. The prices were very reasonable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who happens to be in this area. The only thing I missed was some tea bags in the room, which is not a great issue compared to other services. A big "thank you" from all of us.

I stayed there one week end while flying skydivers. It is an average hotel but I believe a bit over priced. It is a little dated however dueable. They have a happy hour (two beer limit) then you pay after that. Breakfast was average.

This is a super convenient place to stay if you are spending some time in the Santa Ynez wine region. We spent three nights here in late September and had absolutely no complaints. The rooms were well maintained and clean, the service was great, and the complementary breakfast was actually really good!! Do not park in the attached DMV parking lot or they will tow you!

My sisters and I decided to go to La Purisima Mission (My Fav!) and to Cambria for a day. Yes, long drive from Los Angeles for a day but so worth it! Then we decided to stay the night. I booked this hotel the night before and for the price, I was very satisfy upon arriving for the night. The front desk staff was very pleasant. Checked in and checked out with a breeze. The room was clean and had ample of space. A kitchenette, which sadly we didn't use but if next time I decide to go to Cambria, I would take advantage of this feature and stay longer! Beds are OK to sleep. The mattress is a bit hard for me but it did its job because I was able to sleep. But if you are a picky person when it comes to your bed then this should serve as a heads up. The best part of it (which I am picky about) was the restroom in the room was very clean and that to me says a lot. For me if the restroom is not clean or in a decent condition, I probably won't be back to the hotel. But the restroom in our room was pretty clean and I was happy with that. AC worked great! There was 2 TV just in case you didn't agree on what to watch with your party... ;-) Breakfast time!! Wow!! Ample of choices in both food and drinks! By the way, thank you Lompoc Valley Inn & Suites for introducing me to biscuit and gravy!! First time trying it and it was delicious! Breafast staff very nice and attentive! Overall, our experience was great and next time we are in town, we will consider Lompoc Valley Inn & Suites.

I booked this based off of the other reviews and I'm so glad I did. Room was nice and spacious and well kept. Nice breakfast and a social hour (free beer, snacks, pop) from 5-7 PM please except Sundays. They have a pool and hot tub. Close to plenty of places to eat and a movie theater around the corner.
