Best Western Premier Hotel Slon

Located right in the heart of the city. Rooms have everything you need for a perfect stay even a pillow menu. Robes and slippers provided. We went for the larger room with sofa and massive tv with some English speaking channels and Sports channels. Ljubljana is an excellent place for food lovers and shoppers. The staff at Slon were so very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was of the highest quality food. Highly recommended this hotel which is very comparatively priced too. Hotel Slon is an old, well-maintained hotel located in the pedestrian zone of Ljubljana's city center. The rooms exude a certain old-world charm, the bedding is impeccable, the bed comfortable, the heating excellent, and the bathrooms spacious and equipped with premium L'Occitane bathroom amenities. Among other amenities in the room, you'll find provided slippers, an umbrella, shoe cleaning kit, bathrobe, women's hygiene products, a well-stocked minibar, and a kettle for boiling water... In the room, you'll be greeted with complimentary sachets of instant coffee and green tea, as well as a tetra pack of water. The maid cleans the room daily and replenishes the minibar and complimentary beverages. If you need an iron, you can contact reception, and the iron and ironing board will be promptly delivered to your room. Breakfast is lavish, with an extensive selection of dishes to suit various dietary preferences, along with various beverages (including champagne or detoxifying juice, depending on how you start your morning). If you dine at the hotel, the selection of dishes is also diverse, and the culinary skills of the head chef are suitable for a four-star hotel. Additionally, I was fortunate to get a room on the top floor with a view of Ljubljana Castle. In summary, this is an excellent hotel that I have no complaints about, and if by any chance I didn't leave a tip for the maid, something serious would be wrong with me.

We hated leaving the hotel, all the way from high quality breakfast to the high quality staff and treatment. Don't hesitate if you are ever in Ljubljana to book a stay there. The restaurant just meters from the hotel was so good we ate there on three occasions. It's called Sestica.

Very good and centrally located hotel, very clean and comfortable rooms. The breakfast was varied and very well organised. The staff at the reception desk were very polite and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel and the price is reasonable.

We stayed here twice and would do so again. The hotel mixes the traditional and modern. Rooms are fairly traditional and the common areas more modern. The family rooms wee large and provided everything needed. Toiletries were high end and very nice. Service was always extremely attentive and polite. The breakfast was probably the best in Slovenia with a wonderful selection or freshly prepared and buffet items and was a particular highlight. Rooms were quiet, particularly given the location and the hotel was well placed for everything in Ljubljana.

Small and friendly hotel with a great breakfast buffet included in the room rate. It is centrally located and very close to a range of eating places and the beautiful little river flowing through Ljubljana. Beds are comfortable, but rooms are very small. Would recommend for location and value.

All in all its a decent hotel and I would probably stay again . The rooms are really big which was fantastic. The only gripe is that they are a bit dark but not sure what could be done about this. The staff are all very friendly and ready to help , the breakfast was decent, and the location is perfect.

Everything worked well at this hotel from its location being close to everything to the quality of service by the hotel staff - I would definitely recommend if looking for a good hotel in Ljubljana. One recommendation would be to contact the hotel if you need a shuttle to / from the hotel & they will sort

Had a great stay at this hotel. The bed was so comfortable along with the quality of bed linen. Pillows were very nice. The location was fantastic. Just literally around the corner from the Old town of Ljubljana. Probably the best part of the hotel is the breakfast. Yes, you will pay a bit more to stay here but if you enjoy having a great selection of food to get your day started, this place is for you. The lobby had an amazing scent as well!

It was a pleasure staying at Hotel Slon. I stayed there for 8 nights, while in Ljubljana for a conference. It was my first time in Slovenia. Every staff member I met was cheerful and helpful. The hotel breakfast had one of the best selections I've had at any hotel; it was in a spacious dining room with white table cloths. The room was clean and good-sized, with good amenities (hair dryer, bathrobe, nice shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, etc.). The fitness center is small, but that's typical for most hotels. There is a restaurant with an outdoor cafe attached to the lobby. The location was outstanding and I walked everywhere I wanted to go in town. It is on the end of the old town center full of restaurants and shops and beautiful architecture; a majr bus stop is next to the hotel front door; it is a 10-minute walk from the castle, a 10-minute walk from the bus and train station, and a 5-minute walk from the Tivoli Park and several museums. Each day, I walked from Hotel Slon to the University of Ljubljana's Faculty Biotechnica campus, a ~35-40 minute walk, mainly through a beautiful park and its woods. I hope to return to Ljubljana someday and I'd stay at Hotel Slon again.

We opted for a suite and our room was quite comfortable. The breakfast was perfect, a buffet that included everything. The best part of the hotel is the staff. I left a souvenir bag in the taxi that took us from hotel to the airport. The reception could not have been kinder when I realized I forgot the bag after going through airport security. The hotel located the bag, the taxi cab dropped the bag at hotel, and the hotel housekeeping mailed it to me in the United States. THE BEST.

Hotel Slon is only 2 minutes from Preseren Sq and the Triple Bridge, the centre of the city. The hotel is welcoming and modernised. Staff and service are excellent and the breakfast is extensive in choice. Waiting staff are alert, clear away regularly and ready to help, making the start to the day a pleasant one. We had a deluxe room. Recommended. Huge and well equipped with complimentary bottled water and tea/ coffee making facilities. In Ljubljana you are never more than 15-20 minutes from all the sights.

Take main street view higher floor rooms. Breakfast was ok for Vegetarian. Location is superb Maintenance is ok not very good. Side view rooms have no view at all and are like dungeons. Dont visit during Summer or you won't be able to do the old city tour. Its lovely to visit end sept and take a guided tour of old city to know better.

Hotel is in super location 2 minutes walk from the 3 bridges and river. Staff are very pleasant. Nice cafe car in front / lobby area of the Hotel. They do offer off site valet parking at an additional cost. The Hotel is old but well maintained and very clean. Super comfy bed and a decent shower. Really liked the pictures on the corridor walls showing history of the hotel. Our only gripe was the location of our room, 340 was on the side of the hotel overlooking the air conditioning units / vents for the hotel . No way you could open window as noise was 75db and the smell of breakfast in a morning. If staying a couple of nights then okay but were here for 5 nights so was tiresome.

The hotel is right in the city centre on the pedestrian zone. At first we thought it was not possible to drive there, but there is an exception to the no-drive policy for the hotel. The garage for the car is outside the property, so you have to unload everything you need immediately from the car and take it to the room. Then you hand the key to the attendant and she takes the car elsewhere. Our two rooms were standard for an older hotel. My mattress was saggy, totally unsuitable for sleeping. The windows were facing the back area, you could hear the noise of the air conditioning and other equipment. The other room had windows facing a different back yard area. Unfortunately this area was covered by a transparent roof, so the room could not be aired!!! The only option was to turn on the air conditioning and just cool the air. Breakfast was standard. The breakfast room was hypothermic. The surroundings of the hotel are beautiful.

Good sized room, comfortable bed, large bathroom with corner bath (though a bit slippery if using just for a shower). Well-located hotel, minutes walk from the old town and Tivoli a park. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice for cooked and continental options.

Basic rooms but a pleasant hotel in the central pedestrian area of the city. Great location for the historic part of the city. Very nice bar with pavement terrace at the front which is ideal to watch the day to day life go by. Bar is separate to the hotel but accept room charge which is good.

The hotel is very nicely decorated on the ground floor, the lobby is beautiful. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the rooms, which are old, small and in need of renovation. The breakfast was abundant and the biggest advantage of this hotel is that it is located in the very center of the city. The hotel does not have its own parking lot, but they offer the option of parking in a nearby garage.

Very comfortable rooms and the location is perfect. Easy to walk to all the main attractions of Ljuljana. We even ate dinner at AnainSlon which was a special treat. The complimentary breakfast was excellent.

We stayed in a beautiful room, the hotel only minutes from the three bridges, it was raining but in our room the hotel supplied an umbrella so we were still able to go out. Breakfast was beautiful. There was also transfer (fee) to the airport. Thank you to the staff they were so nice.

Excellent location on the main shopping street and a 5 min leisurely walk from the Three Bridges, the centre of this magnificent city's tourist trade. Easy bus and Metro connections outside with the train and bus station hub 15 min walk away. The hotel is expertly run by pleasant and professional staff. An excellent buffet breakfast is provided. There are conference facilities / a fitness and spa / and it shares a bar, upmarket cafe and street seating. It has limited lounge space. Rooms are spacious, beds very comfortable, shower excellent with the usual toiletries, tv and well-stocked mini bar. Complimentary water is provided daily. A great hotel for a week's stay in Ljubljana. Top tip : buy the 1-3 day URBANA card from the Tourist Office near The 3 Bridges for fabulous reductions and offers. Thoroughly recommend. Enjoy.

Loved this hotel! Breakfast was great choice and standard. Our room was a family delux style with inner doors to separate two beds. Bathroom was luxurious with bathtub. Nice touches to room such as an umbrella to use. So convenient to river and nearby attractions. The staff from reception to housekeeping were excellent. Very efficient and everything worked. Would definitely stay again.

Visited Hotel Slon, Ljubljana, August 2022 and was very pleased to stay there. The room was clean and certainly adequate (though not fancy) with all necessary amenities. Fabulous location in a wonderful city (had never been there before) with a breakfast that outshone every other city visited on that trip.

The Hotel was a bit dated but my stay was excellent. The service was superb and everyone was so nice and helpful. The hotel itself is right in the mix of everything. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you.

Centrally located near pedestrianised area, easy walking to almost everywhere in the City. Our experience with the staff was very positive, all friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are amazing. Our room faced out on to the main thoroughfare, so it did get a bit noisy overnight (we stayed over weekend and bank holiday). The bar there is lovely but drinks a little pricy. Overall a very decent place.

We arrived late evening and walked from the railway station, it's about 12minutes. The rooms and beds are very comfortable with all facilities. The service in the bar was excellent and we thought prices reasonable for the city centre. Would definitely recommend.

The BWP Hotel Slon is conveniently located near Preseren Square in Ljubljana. The hotel offers valet parking service. The rooms are nice but small. The breakfast buffet is marvelous. It's a great business class hotel to explore Ljubljana.

This is a very nice hotel with expected amenities if a hotel. The room was well appointed, nice size bathroom, big closet and a luggage rack. It offered a spectacular buffet breakfast with many selections of juices, pastries, eggs, meats, cheeses and fruits. The shower is in a tub with only a small glass to deflect the water. But it worked fine.

Whist I understand the hotel had recently had a refurb my room (515) was very dated. The bathroom tiles, wood in the bedroom, internal doors and curtains were poor. Worst was the shower cubicle which was a tiny square old-fashioned cubicle with a corner door and a large step to get into. The tray showed signs of age with cracks/marks in the surface. The drainage from the shower was very poor so you stood in water for all of your shower. It rained heavily when we were there and the shower drain made really loud noises of gurgling water during heavy rain which woke me up at night. The door to the bathroom opened inwards making it hard to get in and out of and the door to the room opened out into the corridor which seemed strange. On the positive side the water pressure and bed linens were excellent. The breakfast was also excellent.

The hotel would benefit from a renovation as rooms are a bit outdated. However, downtown location is perfect. Breakfast buffet is amazing with a wide variety of local and fresh food. Beds and pillows are soooo comfy with brand new bedding. And staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend.

The hotel is in a great location and is very central to shops and the sights. The breakfast is great and the sauna facility was excellent, very relaxing and a well appointed. Good value for the pricing. The hotel is quiet dated and could do with a renovation as it looked tired in the rooms.

The best aspect is the location, literally loads of shops, restaurants everywhere and 5 minutes from the canal, yet you get a good night's sleep as it is sufficiently away for the main hub. If you have a car, there is an excellent service, as you pull up in front of the hotel there is someone waiting to park it for you, and although it is pricey, at least you know the car is safe and parked, because i think parking must be a nightmare. The hotel had all the facilities you need and the breakfast is one of the best selections I've ever had. What stops me from giving this place top marks is the room itself, a bit drab, and the carpets have to go, so unhygienic. Plus, if you give water ever day, why don't you top up the tea and coffee? If you see there is no coffee left because the two sachets have been used, why not replace them? Despite this, would highly recommend.

Very central location. Hearty and varied breakfast. This is where the four-star features end. Then begin the reasons why they are undeserved. Rather worn-out 1990s-style furnishings, starting with the carpet in the room. Single room (barely) sold as a double, without even the space to be able to access the bed. Little attention to guest grievances (shower drain did not work and light in bathroom -without windows- neither). Convenient parking (you leave your car in front of the hotel and they bring it back when you need it) at the not exactly modest cost of 22€/day, but without being announced). In short, four stars only on paper....

We have stayed several times. Service is fantastic! Valet parking is available and great breakfast! Centrally located in old town for walking around. The only negative is hotel needs an update. The service is the best in Ljubljana so I keep going back.

Very good hotel located in the heart of Lubiana. Excellent buffet breakfast with quality food and great variety. Our triple room had comfortable beds and was spacious but dust on the floor, underneath beds and in air conditioner filtet was never removed or cleaned. Valet parking didn't work at its best due to communication issues. All in all good experience and hope the management will take some corrective actions

Loved the hotel. Good value, valet parking was fantastic. Breakfast great. Rooms were comfortable but slightly dated versus the reception area. One negative is that their location on Google Maps brings you to the wrong street by car. I phoned and the hotel send a guy on an electric scooter to find me and guide me to the front door!

One of the Amazing worst hotel ever in Ljubljana, Honestly I paid the amount 1 month before my flight to slovenia - Ljubljana and once I arrived they the rod gentleman was in reception side that “ sorry we are full occupancy and will transfer you to sister hotel “ this is one of the worst position happened to me and I came from longe journey. I side to him no I need my booking in this room he side sorry will transfer you to the other hotel we don't have room to you , then they transfer me to the ( THE WORST WORST Hotel ). Which made me look for more than an hour for another hotel. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to any one even I hope this hotel to be remove from all booking and rating website + I will send official email for the head quarter office to Best Western Premier Hotel

The hotel is extremely well located and one can walk to the key points within minutes. The rooms were decent, however extremely compact and slightly worn out. The staff was extremely friendly and the service was commendable. Decent for a short stay in Ljubljana

One of the MUCH nicer stag hotels we have stayed in over the years. This hotel is in a fantastic position, 2 min walk to the main markets and three bridges where endless bards and food outlets. The hotel itself has a great well stocked bar, fresh cakes and nice public areas. The rooms are clean, the beds are a good size (we had a twin as all boy stag do) The bathrooms are well kept but a little dated. Overall a great stay friendly staff and a 24 hr Pizza Shop for those 5am munches (1 min walk)

Very nice hotel with perfect location in Ljubljana. Just a few minutes walk to the Triple Bridge in the center of town, and also just a short walk to Tivoli Park in the opposite direction...also just 10 minutes walk to the bus station. We enjoyed our stay here a lot. Plus, we were given a complimentary dragon-rubber duck. Yay!

We stayed two nights. Check in was fast and friendly. There were quick responses to any requests, e.g. for extra tea sachets, and good advice on where to eat (and where to avoid). Very good breakfast buffet in a light and airy dining room - hot food was freshly cooked and there was a good variety. We had a twin room with wider than usual beds and high quality bed linen.

First the positives: Location is superb, just a couple of minutes to main square and old town. Its in pedestrian street , but you can drive to the entrance and they will park the car in nearby garage. Breakfast is superb, very tasty , plenty of choice. Hotel and rooms are very clean. Amenities in room (coffee, tea, Loccitane…) Nice lobby and cafe. Negatives: We stayed at 50+ sq m suite, at 230e per night. Rooms are very clean and huge but needs to be refurbished, since there is a big difference between modern lobby and dated rooms. Room feel is more like a private flat than 4* modern city hotel. A lot of old furniture chipped here and there. Bathroom very clean but also needs to be uplifted (a lot of marks in bathtub from age) . There is one more thing that bothered me: When you arrive at the room there is a small fluffy elephant toy in the room. You can keep the toy for 15 euros !? I would recommend that they either 1.donate that money to good cause so you buy it to help others 2. Give toy to the guests free 3. Remove the toy. I travel with 3 small kids , and it felt like a cheap ripoff that there was a gift toy waiting at the room that you need to pay for , its strange… All in all if you are not picky about the room , its a good option for central short stay.

This was a great hotel for exploring the old town area of Ljubjana. The rooms, or at least mine, was quite small, but typical of other city hotels in Europe. And I wasn't looking to spend extra time in the hotel beyond sleeping anyway. It was a little on the noisy side with hallway noise and outside noise coming in a bit. Staff were great with answering questions and were very responsive in setting up the shuttle from the airport (and then later back to the airport). Overall, I'd stay here again on a future trip.

I thoroughly enjoyed a two night stay at the BW Plus Slon. The hotel's conveniently located close (300 meters) to Preseren Square. It was very easy to explore old town Ljubljana. The walk to the Dragon Bridge and Ljubljana Castle was only ten minutes. The breakfast buffet was excellent!

Great location right on the edge of Old Town. 5 minute walk to riverfront. Plenty of good restaurants within easy walking distance. One of the best buffet breakfasts we've experienced. We were in a tour group queen "Economy Room" which I WOULD NOT recommend otherwise as it was really small & cramped. HOWEVER, the front desk was superb and went out of their way to help. The Fitness Center was also one of the best - especially for a mid-grade hotel.

Hotel is brilliantly located in the centre close to all amenities. The hotel lobby is great modern. However the rooms, which are fine don't quite live off this moderness. They are fine clean good size with a good bathroom. Without doubt a very good place to stay in Ljubljana

A great hotel in the city centre. Everything is easily and quickly accessible. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open during our stay (COVID), so I can't comment on that. However, the bar is a great meeting place with a good selection. The rooms are not very large but adequate for the purpose. The staff are friendly and the breakfast offers a wide choice.

Stayed here for 4 nights and all in all was a decent hotel, the lobby gives the impression that it is all completely new and renovated however the rooms although clean and spacious could do with being updated as the decor just doesn't match the lobby area. The location was excellent however and was only 3-5 minute walk and you are in the heart of the old town with lots of shops and food places nearby and a 10 minute walk to the bus station if you are planning day trips out of the city,

I loved it. Great location, beautiful inside out, extremely nice staff, I even loved the wide and well lit hallways, I could actually live in the room I stayed in, it had everything and more. Great coffee, delicious breakfast, the best view possible, loved the furnishings, I even bought the little grey elephant with a little bit of history on its ticket. I love it. This is the best hotel in town!

The perfect spot to be in Ljubljana. Located right in the centre and you can walk to everything within minutes. There is valet parking which is such a relief, so you don't need to be worried about the madness of city parking. The service was excellent, very helpful and friendly. The rooms are adorable! They look traditional. Also, there's an umbrella in the closet, which is such an important touch! The breakfast was so-so. But overall, a fantastic stay!

I stayed just one night in the room in 6th floor. The room was very small, the fridge smell very badly, closed was very old and heavy to open. Shower was licking the water. Air condition was unable to power on. Parking place is 500m away on some tight street in open area. This was total strange. Breakfas was ok. Location is amazing. I rated it 3 from 5, just because of nice stuff, great location and nice breakfast. Everything else was not ok.

Nice hotel - we walked from the train station and stayed a night. It was easy access to the city center/old town. The breakfast begins at 6:30am and there's a decent selection of items. Free bottle of water in room.

Great place in the city center. good small gym and great café in the pedestrian area infront of the hotel. Interior is old, but clean and with a special atmosphere. I did not understand the bears all around because Slon should mean elefant, but nothing negative to add

Our room was comfortable and of a decent size. They had Illy coffee in the room - that was a treat. Bed was comfy, lots of hot water, good towels, quiet room, good pillows. Everything it should be. Location was very good too. Out the door, left , left, and in 100m you're in the middle of it all. Breakfast was also good as was attention to Covid protocols. Would recommend.

This will seem odd but I have been staying in the Slon since 1988. It's a very well run hotel and the staff could not be more helpful and friendly. But while other hotels in Ljubljana have upgraded their rooms--or at least lowered their prices when they didn't--the Slon keeps sailing on, charging 5 star prices (€120 euros for a single room) that isn't worth a penny over €65. The management really does need to make the pricing commensurate with the quality of rooms they offer. That was my last time.

Cycling through Ljubljana, we spent a night at the BW Slon and left satisfied. Read on for details. Located a block from the triple bridge, the BW Slon offers great access to the Old City. The hotel is modern, updated with comfortable, quiet rooms. The desk featured easily accessible electric outlets. The WiFi was solid. The bathrooms were spacious and updated The night was quiet. The triple bridges were just a short walk, about two minutes, away. The buffet breakfast was extensive and included items to cater to nearly all tastes. For us, the BW Slon was perfect and, the next time I return to Ljubljana, I'll be back to the Slon

We stayed here in the 2 bedroom executive suite. The layout is great for families. 2 bedrooms upstairs and a common room on a lower level with bathroom. The common room desperately needs new furniture. Very dated and uncomfortable. We had issues with the extremely small refrigerator/mini bar. It didn't work the first day and then was serviced but still didn't keep things cold. Not a great situation when you need to keep baby milk cold. No ice machines for guest use. There were air conditioners in the bedrooms but the lower level common room was not air conditioned. The lobby, breakfast room and breakfast buffet were awesome! Free valet parking, which is great, but then was quoted an hour to retrieve the car upon checkout! I was told at checkin to give the parking ticket 20 minutes before the car was needed. An hour is unacceptable.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. The hotel is in the centre and only a 2 minute walk from some wonderful restaurants and attractions. The buffet breakfast was very good with an excellent choice of hot and cold food. The bus station is only a 10 minute walk away where you can catch buses to Lake Bled which is highly recommended. You can also buy the tickets for the attractions from the bus station. Our room was spacious and clean.

Stayed here regularly lately and will come back. The front desk, Ksenija and the team, are doing a great job to make you feel comfortable. This hotel is slightly cheaper in general to comparable hotels in Ljubljana and so a good value for money. Equipment is a bit outdated, but the rooms are cosy and clean. Clean and well-maintained Sauna and the gym is great added value. If you want to stay in the city centre you can't beat this location.

Very nice hotel in the heart of Ljubljana, with products of l'Occitane in bathrooms. Nice sheets and pillows. Clean. But... In the time of the second corona wave breakfast has been served very optimistic. With masks on faces and gloves on hands the food has been served without protectiv shields. Corona is gone in Slovenia!

Hotel Slon was a pleasant surprise, being better than other “Best Westerns” I have experienced. It is located within Ljubljana's pedestrianised zone and a 5 minute walk from the Triple Bridge. The room was spacious, clean an comfortable. The buffet breakfast caters for most tastes from fresh fruit to cooked breakfasts. I would stay here again. P.S. Ljubljana is a gem and day trips to Piran and Lake Bled by bus are possible too.

After non visible damaging of an operation system of mycar, which was out of my control in hands of the hotel staff. I discovered the problem on the highway and informed the hotel immediately. Regretfully the hotel does not listen customer's complaints and does not seek a solution maintaining hotel reputation and satisfying both sides. They refused to discuss any responsibility for such event. It really unbelievable for such worldwide hotel network especially during corona crisis when the hotels fight for every guest. They completely destroyed any other good service. I am travelling all over the world but such a bad policy I met for the first time /especially in such a hotel Brand By the way I got the room into the main street (although the hotel was not full) so that we slept very bad because of a demonstration in streets. I would expect soundproof windows on such place and in such hotel. Maybe I would not mention this (the demonstration is not the problem of the hotel, the windows are) in case I would not be forced to mention a problem with my car.

Very nice hotel -- great location, lovely service. Sites are near by as are a number of nice restaurant choices. Nice bar and restaurant if you want a night cap, a coffee/cake or a meal in house. Breakfast is a treat with excellent choices. Rooms tidy and clean - a bit on the small side. Outlets were difficult in this age of many devices that need charging.

Can't fault a place with perfect location , great service and clearly a center for the local trendies. Absolutely delighted with my stay ... whilst my room was a little small (single) I have no complaints. Service and staff were great and place was always buzzing with the downstairs bar lounge clearly being a clear favorite here. Very good breakfast choices and always a pretty casual laid back atmosphere. One to remember.

Nice hotel in the city centre, perfect location. The lobby bar/restaurant is nice and the staff is friendly and helpful. The cake they sell is fantastic! The room was fine. Spacious and clean. The bathroom looked a bit outdated but everything worked fine!

very impressed with this hotel. We had booked for 2 nights but due to storm Ciara, our flight was cancelled. The hotel provided a free upgrade and also allowed us to use conference room to try and get flight home sorted (the internet speed is better in conf rooms than hotel rooms). Centrally located so its location is perfect. We used the bar quite a few times and were impressed with service and menu. The rooms were immaculate and the staff were friendly. They gave my partner a birthday card and cake to recognise his birthday which was very kind.

We spent 6 nights in this hotel at the beginning of February and the staff are very friendly and provide a wonderful service. The hotel is perfectly placed for visiting the old town and catching buses for the rest of Ljubljana as the bus stops are on the road in front of the hotel. The hotel is definitely 4+ stars and one of the best in Ljubljana. The breakfast is exceptional as is the food and drink in the bar (500 ml draught Lasko is only 3.25 Euros). Would definitely stay here again

Quiet rooms, perfect beds and pillows, fluffy towels (and if the pillows weren't right there was a menu of at least six options to choose your ideal one by calling reception). The breakfast is so good you'll gain several pounds by the time you leave! There was a huge choice of foods and drinks at the buffet layout. My only criticism of the stay was a shower screen that didn't block all the spray of water so the floor got a little wet.

We have chosen to stay in this hotel based on few very nice photos of place and good price. That is what we got. Lobby, reception and location are excellent. Staff is great. Room is very small and outdated as hallways and interior of upper floors. Room was clean however for two people extremely small. Bad was not so good and only two pillows. Breakfast is rich and anyone can find something to eat. Hotel staff will take care of your car on check in and check out.

The hotel is nice but rooms are so dated. Simply things like the shower in our room was designed in a way that when you turned it on, it soaked the floor! The room was extremely hot which resulted in both my partner and I having broken sleep. The reception staff were friendly and helpful but the bar staff were very rude which wasn't very pleasant. Very expensive for one night for what we got. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Stayed mid December at the HOTEL SLON. Excellent location..just a short walk from the river and main square.. Extremely clean and comfortable room. A vast choice at the buffet breakfast.... Charming Staff.... Would certainly stay at this hotel again.

Very good hotel, excellent location. Ideal for the younger and middle aged. When you are in or beyond your sixties, there are some minor inconveniences. The safe is positioned next to the bed in a cupboard on the floor. Quite a challenge for the elderly. The bathroom is an equal challenge. Why are there no walk-in showers instead of bathtubs for seniors? The tubs are narrow, difficult to get in and out, slippery and with every move you make you risk hitting the hot/cold valve that immediately produces ice water or boiling hot water.

The hotel's location perfect for exploring the older part of Ljubljana on foot. It is a short trip to the main square and the Triple Bridge. Our room was a good size and clean. I experienced two problems with the room. The room safe was on the bottom of the closet and I had to lie on the floor in order to read the directions and set it up. The door stop in the bathroom was next to the tub and I had to avoid stepping on it when getting out of the tub so I wouldn't lose my balance. The employees at the reception desk were very helpful with directions to different locations around the area. The breakfast was good and had a wide variety of food. The servers were very prompt and polite.

Visiting Ljubljana for the first time, I found this hotel to be an excellent choice. First of all, it is perfectly located in the heart of the city and you can easily visit the centre and main sights by walk in just a few minutes. The hotel itself is modern and the professional staff will cater to all your needs. The bar in the lobby is great and always busy. The room I had was not big but adequate. It was clean and had all the amenities necessary. The buffet breakfast was very good with lots of fresh items to choose from. Overall, a very enjoyable and comfortable stay.

I stayed here on November 24 to 28. The location is perfect, close to every attraction in the city. the bus station is just accross the hotel, and you can go everywere with them. the tickets can be bought to the.post office near the hotel. the hotel itself is good.. I had spacious room and bathroom. the ammenities in the bathroom are just good. the breakfast is various .. but prepare for a strong smell of bacon when you enter, because they cook it right in the middle.of the restorant. you can have juices..milk..coffee etc.. and a miriade of sweets, salads, breads, eggs, fruits , etc.. the good thing is that the breakfast opens at 6.. which is convenient if you have a flight early in the morning. Overall enjoyed my stay in Slon..

The breakfast is wonderful aside from the under cooked bacon. Rooms are full of amenities. Can do with better black-out curtains. Gym is well equipped. Check out staff said “thank you” when she asked how my stay was, I replied ‘adequate'. Apparently she didn't understand or didn't care. The cleaning staff love to bang into the door with the hoover, especially when the Do Not Disturb sign is hanging. I was on the night shift and needed day time sleep. On the weekends the disco is on full volume, so you hear everything through the walls until 5 or 6 am. Not very cool. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom had the collection of random long hair in various places. I'm bald so it wasn't mine. Overall. Eh...

Best Western has not been a hotel line we typically use but we were very pleasantly surprised with this establishment. It was upscale, well kept, good service, nice amenities, rooms large as well as bathroom quite large. And loved the stuffed toy elephant on the bed (there's a hotel story with the elephant)! The location also really can't be beat. Very close to inner city/three bridges and Tivoli Park is just in the other direction. So when done with the sites, go the other way and take time to stroll the park. We had a car so we weren't blocked from getting close to the hotel, as could be by staying within the inner city which is pedestrian only. While the hotel offers valet parking, we actually lucked out as we stayed over a weekend and parking is free on the streets during the weekend. Found a parking spot just around the block from hotel. The breakfast buffet was good, food items offered didn't change during our stay, but there's enough variety to not get bored with selection.

We spent several nights at this lovely old hotel that has been modernized in every way. The public areas are spacious. The staff very pleasant and helpful. The rooms reasonably sized, clean, and comfortable. Slon (elephant...ask for the interesting story) is adjacent to Old Town and convenient to everything.

This is an excellent hotel situated in the centre of Ljubljana in easy walking distance of centre with restaurants and parks. We stayed in a good if slightly small room which was very comfortable.Breakfasts were really excellent and management and staff very attentive and most helpful.

The location of this place is its USP. Centrally located within walkable distance to all tourist attractions of Slovenia and the buzz of Slovenia, this is a good hotel with friendly staff. The room that we were in was a bit small as there was not enough place to keep the luggage and no area to move about in the room, but since we were roaming entire day, it was just ok for a good night rest.

In hotel Slon you will find everything you need to have a pleasant stay. Quiet and comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast, availability of all staff. Central location. Definitly recomeded. I will come back.

The Hotel Slon has an excellent location within Ljubljana's pedestrian zone; that and its breakfast buffet are its only positive attributes. First impressions are important and ours left much to be desired--the first thing that the front desk clerk at Hotel Slon said to us was that she could not upgrade us to a better room. However, we were not expecting an upgrade and were not asking for one, so to have this be her first utterance was off-putting. From the get-go, the staff were clearly overwhelmed by the sheer number of guests, whether in the lobby or in the breakfast area. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous; however, both mornings we had to wait for tables to be cleared. The scene was chaotic. As a party of two, we saw many tables for two that went uncleared for long periods of time, while we were inexplicably seated both times at tables for four. As for our room, it was cramped, and the bathroom was shoehorned in a tiny space. There was absolutely no space around the sink for any toiletries. The elevators were also overtaxed by the sheer number of guests. As it is in a pedestrian zone, your car is valet parked at a garage some distance away, at an additional cost. Despite its excellent location and breakfast, I would not stay at the Hotel Slon again, even though I am a big fan of Best Western Premiers in Europe. I am sorry to say that Hotel Slon did not live up to the standard of a BW "Premier".

We found this hotel superb in every way! From the moment we entered we loved it; The beautiful light decor in the ceiling, and the amazing scent that fills the lobby. The actual room (regular double room) was not large, but had an incredibly comfortable bed, and extra pillows and great bedding. Bathroom was small also but very clean and with THE best shower, hot water and really good pressure. The most outstanding feature about this hotel was definitely the AMAZING breakfast buffet in a very delightful breakfast room. Also, the service and people who work at the hotel are so friendly, super helpful and smiling. Check in and out was quick and stress-free, also got help with our luggage, both carrying and storing, such forthcoming service. Another thing about Hotel Slon is the extremely convenient location, both in relations to proximity to Ljubljana town center and the stations. Safe and green, with no traffic running outside the hotel apart from buses. Lastly, we find the hotel rates extremely uplifting, very very good value for money. This will be OUR hotel in Ljubljana from now on, and we will highly recommend it to everyone!

Check in computers not working but staff made the best of it. Clean Executive Room, great amenities and lovely quiet breakfast, nice friendly staff fantastic location very good, nice cafe in foyer, next to lovely shops, best supermarket in the main mall really cheap.

This is a hotel which is very well located,.....within easy walking distance off all the attractions that are on offer and well placed for restaurants and shopping as well. Its a grand old hotel that has been refurbished and is very comfortable, breakfasts are great and staff are friendly and helpful Loved our stay here and would definitely stay again

Centrally located, nice interior, great breakfast and very good Thai massage. Rooms was however quite disappointing. Old furniture, very tiny and a bit smelly. Not at all what you would expect at 4 star hotel, BW or that price.

Decent business hotel with average room size but with modern amenities and kettle in room. Breakfast spread was elaborate and service though friendly was a little slow. Wifi is complimentary. The old city and 3 way bridge is just 5 min walk. There are several eateries and cafe around the hotel.

Beautiful hotel within walking distance to “Old Town” and the Castle. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Bar was nice but a few of the staff were a little standoffish. Room and attached bathroom were spacious. Breakfast buffet was incredible (try the apple strudel) although the room was a little too warm.

After arrival our car was taken to a garage. The check in was quick. We received a nice and spacious room. the breakfast is great, but crowded. The check out was efficient and our car ready on time. The location of the hotel is very good, only a few steps to the center and old city.

We had a lovely weeks stay at this hotel. We upgraded to a superior deluxe room and it was lovely, very spacious with a comfortable sofa to sit on too. The king size bed was great and the pillows so lovely and soft. The location of the hotel is excellent, very close to the old town and the choice at breakfast was first class. Ljubljana is a great city and Slovenia is a beautiful country. We managed to visit Lake Bled, Piran and Skofja Loka. All such lovely places.

A two story, two bedroom suite. Absolutely amazing! Super comfortable bed and totally luxurious bedding. Loved the toiletries. Very warm welcome by the professional staff. The restaurant attached served phenomenal food! Breakfast was one of the best I've had in Europe. The hotel is located in the center with a 5 minute max walk to the old town. Highly recommended.

I've been a little chary of the Best Western brand over the years: in some cases, it seems to have capitalised on the previously good reputation of a private and/or family-run hotel by acquiring the goodwill and leaving the previous owners in situ as managers, only for the overall standard gradually to deteriorate over time. However, this establishment seems to be rather different: the Modernist fabric of the building dates from 1937, and it has been fairly recently refurbished (I'd guess at around 2013: the date of lift manufacture is normally a good clue). Yes, there are some signs of wear and tear in the communal areas, but the room (318) was in very good shape. As a first-time visitor both to Ljubljana and this hotel, I'd expected (perhaps a tad irrationally), to be a bit underwhelmed; but I'm pleased to report that I was anything but. Our beds were extremely comfortable and capacious. The TV offered an above-average range of programming, including news and sport, and the WiFi signal was strong and constant over our 5 night stay, until, dare I say, various embassy delegations arrived on our final night. The room aircon control was simplicity itself and worked (now that I hadn't expected from one or two other reviews here), and the road noise was unobtrusive (Slovenska Cesta has little other than buses, electric vehicles and the occasional taxi to trouble it, bearing in testimony to the City's green credential, on which it prides itself). There were also some nice touches that you'd expect from any solid Four Star hotel in Western Europe: complimentary ear plugs (despite the aforesaid lack of noise, although great if you're sharing with an inveterate snorer like me); daily good quality toiletries, and bath robes; free bottles of water each day; tea- and coffee-making facilities; a well-stocked mini-bar; a weather forecast on a card on your bed every night, and a full-size umbrella in your wardrobe for your use during your stay. The buffet breakfast is, quite simply, stupendous. You might say that the the depth and breadth of the vegan offering is reflection of the zeitgeist, but the wide range of traditional staples of cereals, breads, fresh fruits, cheeses, meats and yoghourts, and cooked breakfast essentials is both appetising and attractively presented. Items such as omelettes (and they're huge, be warned!) and Eggs Benedict/Royale are cooked to order, although you should allow 20 minutes or so for these, as they have to be transported from the kitchen below. The service is friendly, efficient, and sometimes quite witty, as it is on reception and in the bar. Are there any quibbles? Well, I didn't much care for having to get down on my hands and knees to program, open and close the safe; and interestingly, another guest amongst our party, who is somewhat petite had precisely the opposite problem, in that she had trouble reaching up to it in her room: easily remedied, I'd have thought. A flickering light in the bathroom was reported and, in fairness, promptly fixed. We didn't eat dinner here, but did enjoy an excellent bar snack of meats, salad and buffala mozzarella. It also enjoys an excellent reputation for its cakes. The hotel's proximity to a plethora of excellent restaurants leaves you pretty spoilt for choice in any event. Thoroughly recommended, and would probably get a 4.5/4.75 out of 5 from me if the scoring system allowed.

We are in the middle of a 4 night stay in Ljublijana at Hotel Slon. The hotel has certainly come up to our expectations. On arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner and assisted with our luggage. The check - in was prompt and efficient with a helpful receptionist. Our room is a very spacious with a king sized bed, and a large en-suite. Our room and the hotel public rooms are kept very clean. Breakfast is very good with enough choices to please everyone. Sometimes food items run - out and are not replaced, or at least not during the time we are in the breakfast room. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Slon 1522 restaurant makes for a very enjoyable dining experience. The waiters are knowledgeable and friendly; service is prompt. The dishes are beautifully presented, good quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. In the hotel café bar we enjoyed an excellent toasted sandwich and baguette, with very good quality Earl Grey tea. Here also the staff were very helpful and efficient.

This is a wonderful hotel. It's centrally located in the new part of town - next to shopping centres and close to the train station, the museums and the park. But the rooms are super quiet. The rooms are spacious, clean and modern. They're very well equipped with kettle for tea/coffee, a mini-bar and a safe. Enormous tv if you need it. A good selection of channels. Wifi in the room and AC (pay attention: not all rooms are as well serviced by the AC- if you arrive in the dead of summer make sure you get a good AC unit when you make the reservation. The maid service is amazing - they came into the room every day and did a great job. And perhaps the best thing about the hotel is their amazing breakfast. You've heard it before - well - they're not kidding. A great selection - wonderful and fresh - there's absolutely everything you might want to eat here and drink! Down to the bubbly! Highly recommended hotel.

Terrible, Terrible Hotel! We checked in yesterday and were so disappointed we started looking for other hotels in the area right away. It's really dated, as soon as you walk up to your room the carpet smells and its really dirty! The rooms look like they were not updated since the 60's. The room itself was not very clean on the floors, I refused to take off my shoes and the air conditioning is non existent. We are in room 521. The tiles in the bathroom are so slippery they are truly a hazard. There was a live wire sticking out of the air conditioning Unit and it literally was barely blowing any cold air so we complained at the front desk before going to dinner. They said they would send someone up right away, after we got back from dinner we asked at the front desk if the problem had been addressed and the response we got was “There are 170 rooms in this hotel, we don't check if the maintenance man did his job, if we told you we would send him up, we assume he did his job.” Are you really kidding me?? Needless to say he did not do his job and the air conditioning was not fixed and the wire still sticks out of the Unit. All of Ljubjlana seems to be sold out for the dates we are here so we are out of luck.....so hopefully some of you see this review and not make the mistake of staying at this crappy hotel. This is a 2 star at best, Motel 6 in the US caliber! So don't let the 4 star tag fool you. We just got here from Crotia where the 4 stars really meant they were 4 stars so it's safe to say this does not give us a good impression of Slovenia. Plenty of other nice 4 star hotels in the area, just stay away from this one.

We liked the hotel - nice clean room, comfortable bed, great breakfast and location. Everything is within walking distance. I liked the spa area and wished I would have had time for a massage - the prices were very reasonable. Our room was nice but there was a fold out bed/couch that was out but un-made taking up a big chunk of the room so I had to put that away. Then our sink and shower didn't drain and flooded the floor. Because of the water stains on the wood you could tell it wasn't the first time. The service was great at the hotel and I'm sure they would have fixed both but we were tired and just wanted to get to sleep. If driving there, just drive down the bus-only street and park in front of the hotel and unload your bags and they will park your car for a reasonable charge. We would stay here again if we return to Ljubljana.

Nothing negative to say about this hotel. The location in the heart of the city centre was excellent. Close to all attractions and many restaurants just around the corner. Clean comfortable rooms, very good breakfast with good variety and friendly helpful staff.

The location of this hotel is perfect. When you arrive by car, you have a valet parking, wich is expensive but very handy. Our room was very small (but they have different sizes) and the airconditioning leaked. Breakfast was amazing, but we had to wait a while to be seated, because the breakfast room was pretty small. The staff was friendly and nice.

Great location though a bit difficukt at first entering the street/ The service is very good and mostly helpful. Rooms nice and comfortable beds. Breakfast has a large selection of dishes fresh salads cheese meats and such.

Our stay at this hotel was great! The location is EVERYTHING!!!! So close to all of the attractions and an 8 minute walk the bus/ train station (which we used for day trips)! We could see the castle from our room. The staff is friendly enough. Reception was efficient. The breakfast was superbe and plentiful.... so much to choose from. The breakfast staff was beyond amazing!!! Such hard workers! The lobby is up to date, clean and modern as was the lounge area. We enjoyed our pre- dinner drinks here... service was friendly, yet a little slow. Our room, however, was very dated. Extremely dated! I was transported back to the 90s. Also, the dining room/ breakfast room carpet was disgusting..... worn out and full of stains! Don't look down at the carpet, ‘cause it will impede you from entering the dining hall..... like I said, breakfast was awesome!!!! Being a Best Western, I would have expected a more updated room and absence of carpets.

Would stay and this hotel again and would absolutely recommend! The hotel is in a great location and it's a short walk to all the main sights of the city and the bus station (for day trip travel). The interior decor is really modern and clean. The check-in and check-out processes were efficient and the reception staff were very friendly. We had a twin room which was spacious. The bed was comfy and the shower was powerful. The breakfast was lovely and there was an extensive selection of options. The WiFi was strong throughout. The only negative I would say is the shuttle driver that took us to the airport (organised by the hotel) drove erratically and I felt very unsafe in his car so it reflects badly on the hotel for using them.

This hotel is perfectly located. The staff are excellent, the rooms are comfortable with excellent a/c. The buffet breakfast offered a vast arrangment of food. They offer valet parking at 20 euro per night which is a little expensive, but they make it so easy. Pull up in front of the hotel (which is located in a no vehicle area except buses, but if you are staying at the hotel you can drive up), give the front desk your keys, tell them when you want the car again, and it is there. Would definitely recommend this location. It is far nicer than any BW in the US

As I said this hotel is situated in the pedestrian area and only a dew minutes walk from the heart of the city. Also only a half hour taxi journey to lake Bled; a must visit destination for anyone visiting the country. Although there are numerous restaurants to choose from in the city, the hotel has a fine dining restaurant serving good food and wine. We found the standard room a little small for two persons so happily upgraded to a corner suite with a small balcony, perfect for morning coffee and a cigarette if needed, but try and avoid rooms above the main conference/ballroom as the noise from a live band playing at a wedding reception was disruptive. The hotel is well serviced and the staff were attentive and keen to assist in anyway possible. Overall, a good choice but book early as this hotel is in popular demand.

Return visit with friends, as good as the first. Location is unbeatable, minutes away from most sights. Accommodation is comfortable and well maintained. Decor throughout the hotel is very attractive. Staff are outstanding - helpful, efficient and friendly. Amazing breakfast in dedicated room on first floor. Wide range of drinks and snacks available in bar at reasonable prices. Excellent food in restaurant. Definitely will be back.

Superb location, you can easily walk anywhere. While it's not right next to the river where all the restaurants and bars are, it's only 2 minutes walk away. It also means quiet and peaceful during the night. Rooms are clean and while not the most spacious, they are still more than enough. Breakfast is very standard and you might need to actually queue. Overall had a great stay. Recommended!

Standard Rooms are small, old-fashioned and do not match with the photos shown at the hotel website. Hotel location stills very good but it is expensive. Not worth it. Not good quality- Price ratio!!!

I stayed four days in this hotel and can honestly say that I've never had better service. The hotel itself is very attractive and clean and the employees are courteous and eager to please. Absolutely no demerits.

This is in a great location for visiting Ljubljana. The hotel is comfortable and clean. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The complimentary water was appreciated; as were the elephant chocolates on the bed each night. The buffet breakfast was very good - I can't think of anything which wasn't available.

This Best Western felt upscale. The staff was friendly and informative. Walkable to everything. Nice spa and great massages. Fabulous breakfast buffet. We had a great dinner there one night. Room was comfortable and nice bedding.

The hotel is an old landmark of the city but has a modern interior. Located about 10 mins walking distance from the main train station ( we had to walk since no cabbies would go that short distance) The location of the hotel is its biggest advantage. Very central and around the places you would like to hang around. The breakfast spread is the among the best in comparison to similar properties in Europe. The rooms are a little small but decent and the air conditioners are a little old and worn out. On a hot day, it can be a problem The staff at the hotel are friendly and ever willing to help.

The hotel is really nice, the service is good, the location is amazing! The best of this hotel was the receptionist called Simon, he was very helpful and all the time at our service. We will come back to this hotel :-)

As you would expect from a Best Western chain hotel, the hotel itself is very well presented, neat and tidy, with obliging staff and clean and well maintained rooms. The hotel is universally referred to in Ljubljana as the Slon (elephant in Slovenian), and there was even a little grey elephant sitting on our bed to greet us. It was very close to the old town and there was a good range of bars and restaurants within 10 mins walk. Ljubljana itself we found to be clean, well preserved and interesting with friendly and helpful people. English was widespread. Our twin room was a reasonable size and it and the bathroom were clean, fresh and well maintained (no mould, objectionable smells, discolouration). There was a mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer and a desk that was large enough to allow the use of a laptop and to spread some papers around. The wifi was of good strength and easy to connect to. Setting the air conditioner (temperature and air flow) was easy, and the window could be opened to admit fresh air (an essential!) although this turned off the A/C. Linen and towels were fresh and clean. Unfortunately, one of us found the beds far too hard and had trouble adjusting (We are not sure how this can be resolved). There is a café/bar and dining room attached to the hotel, but they are not part of the hotel. We tried the café/bar and found it had a good range of drinks albeit a little pricier than surrounding bars. It did provide some bar food, and we had sandwiches one night. They were fresh, tasty, reasonably priced and all that was needed after a long days sightseeing. (It was very convenient to have this casual ‘dine in' option available.) We did not try the restaurant. But the outstanding memory of our stay was the breakfast. It was excellent: in range (one of the widest I have ever seen), freshness and quality. The serving platters were constantly being monitored and, where needed, topped up. The warmers were very efficient and hot food stayed hot. And there was always a waiter available to provide assistance. Would that all hotel breakfasts were like that. Unfortunately, there were some problems. We found the desk staff, while efficient, were somewhat impersonal and ‘superior'. I didn't come away feeling really welcome. The TV unit in our room failed one night, and while the technician came and reset the unit in a reasonable time we were not able to use the radio function and were worried that turning the unit on and changing channels could result in the same problem. No replacement unit was provided. Housekeeping was a bit superficial, while the essentials were done — doona's pulled up and straightened and towels changed, dirty glasses were not cleaned/replaced, consumables (tea, milk) also often not replenished. The hotel is on the main street which is convenient and handy to the old town. But the neighbourhood does seem to attract very noisy, loud, drunken revellers, often through to the early morning. (I guess in recognition the hotel provided complimentary ear plugs.) Requesting a room that did not face onto the main street would seem to be a wise move. Also, for some indefinable reason the Ljubljana mayor has banned taxis from the main street. This means that guests (arriving and leaving) have to drag their luggage (assisted by the taxi driver) some hundreds of meters along footpaths to where the taxi managed to find a park. This is a big turn off, and for the elderly (like us) can be of concern. Those guests that are driving themselves should perhaps check with the hotel regarding access. So, in summary, some real strengths offset by a few weaknesses some of which may be beyond the hotel's control.

It was an expensive place to stay but the location and trimmings did their best to merit the cost. Rooms were good size, nice and clean and well furnished. Breakfast was excellent. Did a mean strawberry sundae as well. Five minutes walk to where it all happens.

Nice efficient hotel. No frills but clean and great price. Location was so perfect. Literally one block from Old Town. The breakfast buffet was pretty amazing. Food was very good. The only negative was the carpet wasn't clean in the breakfast room.

This old established hotel has been well modernised. Rooms are comfortable, excellent bathrooms, TV,Bar and very good beds. Helpful polite staff. Good restaurant and cafe. The location of Hotel Slon (slon=elephant ... you'll see references to them everywhere in the hotel) is absolutely brilliant as close to the beautiful and small old town of Ljubljana. The rooms are large and the amnesties good (Illy coffee machines, flatscreen TVs, ...). Add to this the good breakfast and one might expect an above average rating. So why not? The hotel looks quite tired, the waiting time when checking out where long and, most annoyingly, the temperature in the breakfast room just far too warm. And lastly: the relatively high price resulting in an average price/quality ratio!

We had a bussines conference in Hotel Slon and there was this one employee that really deserves to be mentioned. Mrs Slavka Flajs was the one that made coffee during brakes and she was quick, friendly, always smiling and willing to do more. She took great care of my coworker that is alergic to some food and it was so kind and so caring. She was really the best! Thank you, Mrs Slavka Flajs.

We spent 5 nights in this hotel and found it to be very clean and comfortable. Excellent nights sleep and bountiful breakfast. The hotel is also perfectly located for all the central attractions including daily market, Castle and miriad of international restaurants. Staff are very pleasant and helpful.

We had the most wonderful experience at the lovely Hotel Slon on May 24 and May 25. Many thanks to Aleksander Djosic, who truly went the extra mile for us to make our stay very special. All of the front line staff were amazing!! Alexsander ensured that Hotel Slon was an experience we will never forget. Let me be clear... This is NOT a complaint, just an observation... My room was tiny, but very comfortable and very clean and very functional. For a couple nights on a business trip, I didn't need any more space. If you, on the other hand, measure a hotel room by square footage, then you might be disappointed. The included breakfast buffet was spectacular and you can order specialties from the kitchen if you don't find exactly what you want. I would absolutely stay here again, if I'm ever fortunate enough to be back in Ljubljana.

Quality service, walk everywhere, lots of restaurants and stores so close to the hotel. Safe snd beautiful hotel. Ask for room with a view it is worth it. Some rooms come with 2 double beds, its worth it since they come with city view. Cold ac, strong water pressure, comes with coffee maker, fridge, lots of english tv shows, sitting area and the beds are super comfy. The hotel restaurant and coffee bar is delicious. What makes this hotel outstanding is the staff ... all so helpful snd professional. Thank you Thomas in reception area for being super helpful even if fully booked you gave me efficient assistance.

One of the best hotels in Ljubljana. If not for the location and nice interior, definitelly for the food quality. They really serve a good breakfasts. Management must have a lot of skills understanding the modern travelers needs, since the minibar content is superb. Every guest also receives a lot of small gestures and compliments of the hotel( vouchers, daily weather report, etc) You can even buy a small elephant(slon in Slovenian) as a souvenir.

The location cannot be beat, you are at the heart of the old town within walking distance to everything. Receptionist is humorous and friendly. Hotel Slon is in an excellent and convenient location. Between the city centre and the old town. Very clean, conformable beds and great selection at breakfast, bth cold and cooked. The hotel is well located for a city trip, you can reach the town center in a few minutes walk. Good service, very good breakfast buffet. Our room was very spacious , very clean and overlooking the citadel. We enjoyed the spacious bar -tea room in the entrance of the hotel, it gave us the opportunity to invite friends to join us .The place is busy at all times but really very convenient for a short stay. Parking is provided which is a big plus.

I stayed here one night in early April. The room was serviceable, but it was incredibly warm and when we mentioned to the staff, they said that others had mentioned this issue, but there was nothing that could be done as the air conditioning had not yet been turned on and there was no way to get air circulating unless you open the window. It was too hot to sleep, so we opened the window but the noise outside was incredibly loud and went until 4 am. Needless to say I didn't sleep at all. When booking would suggest you think about this if you are visiting during the shoulder season. Nice breakfast and a convenient location.

A great hotel located in the middle of the city. It's not the first stay at this hotel, staff is very friendly the rooms are very clean and the breakfast is lovely. The bar/Restaurant in the hotel is very modern and they serve great food and drinks. There's a sauna and a gym in the hotel. Perfect hotel for a city trip.

Like other reviewers I thought that the location was excellent just below the castle and close to the river. Taxis could not get to the hotel door, however and this was a little strange. The room was comfortable and well appointed but getting rather old .

Visited Ljubljana on a family holiday. Chose to stay at the Best Western as it was well and centrally located. BIG MISTAKE. The hotel is old and run down, the heating did not work and we were cold, till we got the hotel to provide a room heater. The switches were loose, crooked and falling off. The bathroom was 'just' average and the room looked tired. However, the worst was the extra bed, which was paid for at a huge extra price. It was terrible........completely unusable. There was a 2" fold in the centre. You had to sleep at 2 levels. It was a old and worn out sofa which converted to a bed. It was completely unusable. When we complained, the hotel put a 2mm mattress topper on top, and that made absolutely no difference. In the end the hotel management admitted that the sofa-bed was unusable and apologised, saying they would immediately throw the old sofa-bed away and put in a new sofa-bed. But, 2 night without sleep for my daughter and a back pain caused by the up and down mattress, just spoiled the holiday. To add insult to injury, at check out the manager offered not to charge for a salad dinner worth a few Euro, which i thought was very cheap of them and in poor taste. I refused the 'cheap' offer paid in full and decided never to return. On the positive side, the hotel is very well located and the F&B, specially the renowned restaurant at the lobby level, is really very good. Overall..............A definite miss.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights at the end of March. It is a large hotel having 170 rooms over six floors. It has a restaurant; an entirely separate breakfast room; an entirely separate bar/café and ample public seating. It is a hotel conceived when hotels were grand and it has maintained the tradition. In part it may be old-fashioned in appearance but the staff are friendly, professional and all spoke English commendably well. Our room was on the fifth floor at the front of the hotel and generously proportioned with a dual aspect. It was warm, it was comfortable, it was clean and the bathroom reflected the high standards of the hotel although a little dated. It was an over-bath shower with a high-lipped bath, not easily accessed. Guests with mobility issues would need to enquire in depth over the suitability of the hotel. We experienced no cross-room noise, there was a little noise from the corridor, but our only complaint for a hotel of this quality was that the street noise was very intrusive - all night. We resorted to earplugs. The noise is a consequence of the hotel's superb location in the centre of the city. Everything is within easy reach and our walk to the railway/bus station was an easy fifteen minutes with luggage. Although the hotel restaurant is very good its offerings for vegetarians are limited, but the hotel location enables a wide choice of alternative bars and restaurants to be accessed easily, albeit with no wider vegetarian choice but a change of scene. Breakfast was a generous table of hot and cold food with an extensive selection and the facility to request extra items cooked to order. For us, sadly, English toast was only available through ordering. The hotel does take groups but copes admirably and we were not disturbed or inundated at breakfast! We found the hotel economic for one of its undoubted quality and as our introduction to Ljubljana we could not have wished for better.

The hotel was nice and the staff were great. It was a great location but quite difficult to find via the roads... a lot of one way systems. The only thing that let the hotel down was the size of the hotel room. The breakfast was great!

The hotel is extremely well located~ it's on a pedestrian street~ great lobby, great bar, great restaurants , brilliant breakfast. The rooms are well sized but not very fancy. We had a problem with our heating amongst other little issues. They handled everything immediately. The heating was an issue so they gave us a portable radiator heater and we were quite comfortable. HOWEVER, the extra bed was a bit of a bummer... it was exceedingly uncomfortable as it was a pull out sofa and completely uneven and we could not get them to understand that. They should have in all fairness refunded the amount for the extra bed but tried to please us by offering to pay for our drinks (37 euros... so no thank you) and Marius at the reception could have been a bit more receptive to what we were trying to tell him about the bed and subsequently should have been more accommodating!! Tomas was very helpful as were the ladies at the front desk. Would I recommend the property?? Definitely Would I stay there again ?? Probably

Overall great hotel situated in city centre two minutes walk to the main square. Rooms are ok, not spacious which is only negative aspect of hotel.There are too may pillows in the room which was a bit strange. Bed is very comfortable which is extremely important, Breakfast is fantastic served from 6 til 10am. Prices are reasonable.

I've stayed 3 nights at the hotel. It's in an excellent location and walking to the historical center is very easy and pleasing. The staff is very polite and the breakfast has everything you wish. I will definitely choose it again if I visit Ljubljana in the future.

Stayed for 3 nights in February. We arrived early but room was ready. Check in was quick & simple. Room was perfect, bright, roomy & nicely decorated. Complementary water & mini bar, alongside everything else expected in a room. Only issue I had was bar not restocked, water not replaced & glasses for water & minibar taken away. Hotel in perfect location for exploring, bus stops just outside, river 2 minites away, castle 10 minutes away. Ljubljana itself is very clean & compact. The residents are very helpful & friendly. I would highly recommend both Ljubljana and this hotel.

Was for a business trip in Ljubljana and this hotel is very convenient, the rooms are a bit small but the breakfast is great. The location is in walking distance from the old city. The old city is really a surprise Vienna style buildings with the castle on top of the hill and the river running through the middle of the old town.

Greatest breakfast really, I couldnt believe what was served there..and the salmon, and the pancakes, the sweet corner,the fruit juices! We were in a deluxe room and iz was very spacious, with a coffe machine and the macaroons! The city centre, great view, professional staff, everything great!

One of the best Best Westerns I have stayed in. The staff were friendly, rooms large and well equipped. Breakfast offered an amazing choice and plenty on offer. The bar in the lobby was buzzing in the evening: a nice atmosphere for young and old alike. There is a restaurant but I didn't eat there as had had a large lunch but the menu looked good and interesting. My short stay in Slovenia was enough to make me want to go back again. Ljubljana has a Lovely old city centre with interesting buildings, a river running through and a castle on the hill immediately behind.

The hotel has ideal location. Ten seconds to the main square, couple of minutes to the shops and restaurants. An econom room is not large, but for my purposes it was quit enough. In the room there are big bed, big TV, free water, tea, coffee. Comfortable bathroom. Pillow menu is provided. The breakfast is tasty, varied and well served. The only complaint was to the housekeeping. Last day I came to the room and a window was open. Just reminding you that there was a January. Ok, no problem, I closed the windows and was going to set the radiator a bit warmer. But I realize that the radiator is not warking. A maid and then an ingeneer confirmed it. The maid bringed me another radiator, which stopped working in five minutes. I called to recepyion. Nobody came to me. Then I went to have a dinner and I told receptionist about my problem once again. Told him: Please feel free to come to my room and solve the problem. When I came bacj nothing changed, except the radiator which not stand anymore but lay on the floor =) I just kept it as is.

The hotel is located right in the middle of the city, ideal location next to all the shops, restaurants etc. 3-5 min walk to the old town. Rooms are very big, beds are very comfortable, they even have a pillow menu. Wifi is free and works very fast. Breakfast is very good, gym and Spa (Sauna) very good. Very good value for money. Definitely recomend.

Stayed three nights in early January 2019 and can only give praise to the superb hotel. Reception, cleaning, bar and breakfast staff all very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious with excellent facilities.Breakfast choice was amazing including al la carte freshly cooked to order as well as a comprehensive hot and cold buffet. The spa facilities are small but worked very well, having used both the sauna & steam room. Hotel location is fantastic, being less that 5 minutes walk from most tourist sites. If ever again in Ljubljana will certainly stay at the Slon.....

What a wonderful hotel! Everything worked for me here. The check in was easy, staff were extremely courteous, room that I slept in (632) was really good, breakfast was great, spa was good, gym and sauna were super clean, check out was easy and the pick up and drop off arrangement was also flawless. It's a hotel where one should go just to relax. Btw, I got a plug converter as a gift. The front desk person asked me to keep it as I might need it at the airport..

Stayed here last year- thats why I re-booked. The Staff when booking in were Fantastic, Booked 2 rooms - Even upgraded daughters double room . to an executive suite, no extra charge. so more room with 2 children. Hotel is fantastic great location. food/ bar /staff Brilliant. Thank you so much again.

Stayed here with my wife from 2nd to the 5th of Jan . Staff quite good and gentle, good position and quite good breakfast. Some things in our opinion not right for a 4 stars superior: heating system didn't works good, lamp in the room didn't work for 3 days, asked first morning to change but never made. At the end we wait 1 hour for the car in the lobby because the valet forget the keys.

Hotel is in the very center of the city. In the new year's eve when transportation can be a problem, we were able to reach all the restaurants and festivities by walking. The quality of the rooms were excellent, staff helpfull and the breakfast was very satisfactory. I will strongly recommend.

Booking / Check-In: Booking was done through their partner website and we received confirmation promptly. As it was a busy period, we were expecting a delay with check-in formality, but to our surprise the front office was working like a well oiled machine. Staff was seen pushing to give their best. The valet parking team was also very helpful. Thanks 'Deni' and the team for their assistance everytime we needed access to our car. Room: The room was well kitted and all amenities required for a comfortable stay were at hand. The bed and the sleep quality was good. Except the noise from the street was very much audible late during the night and you could see why there were ear plugs available at your disposal. Guess the management was aware of this issue and hope the GM at the property will take note of this feedback. Breakfast / Dining: The best part of the stay - definitely. The choices for the breakfast are many in numbers. Guess that is going to take care of most people's liking. The dinning at the restaurant also was great. The food is well worth the price and service once again was good. More than expected. Location: Well this is around 250 m from the centre. I mean you could not ask for a better location with walking distance from the shops and the christmas market. You can also access the dragon bridge and also get a very good view of the castle from the street nearby. Public transport and restaurants are just a walking distance from this hotel. We had no problem figuring out the attractions nearby. The local people are also helpful. Summary: The GM of this property must be complemented for ensuring a very good service level and the staff of this place ensured that for us that we felt very welcome and warm. But yes, there sleep quality for us was an issue i must say that the hotel should make efforts for a good sound insulation. We stayed in room 430 and we would not recommend this room if you are sensitive to outside noise while trying to sleep. Overall a good value for money and 'Yes' one last thing - You will have a nice fluffy toy elephant available in your room at a price for 10 EUROS. We opted for it.. Also it has some historical significance.. (I won't spoil it for you :-)).. So i would rate this 4/5 stars for being a good value hotel with a good staff.

One of the best new years ever. Gala night with Orchestra, amazing and delicious food, dancing through the night like in an old New York movie. Everything was perfect with a touch of new years glitter magic. We could experience how a hotel, events in a hotel are done with one goal, how to fulfill everything a guest can imagine. Fabulous. We will definitely join this party next year! The hotel staff knows how to read the guests mind to make the night an unforgettable event! Congrats to you all!

the location of this hotel is excellent! it is a short walk to all the main places to visit in Ljubljana. the hotel is also nicely decorated and the rooms are a good size. there are also many restaurants, shops and a supermarket right beside the hotel. service was also good and there were no hiccups during check-in and check-out

I stopped here with my wife for the Christmas markets and lights. The hotel couldn't be better located. It is in the heart of the shopping area and just a very short walk to the three bridges. We arrived in the car and had valet parking, which seemed to work fine. The hotel is very charming inside with a high level of decor and the staff were very friendly. I loved the corridors on the way to the room, well carpeted, beautiful polished wood doors and nice lighting. The room was also very well kitted out and a comfy place to stay. Overall, the decor here is very high, and nice and traditional. The breakfasts were good with lots of choice. We had a coffe in the cafe/bar area and were surprised how reasonable the prices were (€1.50). A nice place to stay and we will be back.

Hotel: We had a couple of problems in our room 1) different lights didn't work 2) closet was broken - the staff immediately gave a new similar room, manager was not available - room was spacious, large bathroom - a lot of noise from outside during the night, earplugs were available in the room - staff was friendly and helpful - taxiservice from hotel to airport for 28euro Breakfast: Superb! A lot of variety in the breakfast, cold and warm buffet, pancakes, different kind of eggs, smoothies,... Staff was very friendly! Conclusion: Location and breakfast = superb! Hotel/rooms = ok

We spent a night in Ljubljana last week and Hotel Slon was simply perfect. We arrived before check in and our room was already ready which was great. The room was spacious and couldn't be better for a nights stay. The history of the hotel is really interesting also - and yes I am that person who gives 10Euros to take the elephant home...! The hotel is literally a few minutes to Tromostovje bridge so perfectly located to explore all of Ljubljana. The facilities in the hotel are great - we had pre dinner drinks in the bar area which was alway busy with locals. The breakfast buffet was sublime, there was EVERYTHING you could ever need. Staff were also super helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I would certainly stay here again if I was to return.

We arrived extremely late due to our flight, but we were checked in quickly. The room was good, it had everything that you would expect and clean. Breakfast offered a great selection, there was certainly something there for all tastes. Because there is no air con we tried to open the window the first night, HUGE mistake. The noise level all night from outside is horrendous! The next night we kept the window closed, but it was far too hot. Sorry will not be back, four nights without sleep is not on.

Those of you complaining about the room size: well you took the economy room, what do you expect? Add 15 euro and take the big room. 100 dollars per night with a delicious breakfast for two, thats a great value. We will return.

It was a very good hotel just at the center of the the city. Everything is at a walking distance. The staff were very polite. The breakfast was very good with lot of options for vegans. The staff at the beeakfast area were very nice. The lady staff prepared some honey lime drink for my daughter for her cold and even packed some items. It was very good experience.

Reception staff speak English well. Great location for visiting the city on foot or shopping. Bottled water offered daily in the room. Breakfast selection is excellent. The staff are very nice and very helpful. The lobby is welcoming and comfortable. There is a restaurant and a bar area. The two significant "negatives", which keep me from giving a 5-start rating, were room temperature and the shower. It was very warm in the rooms and the temperature is controlled by the hotel, so no adjusting possible. We tried sleeping with the windows open, but there is LOTS of street noise all night long so it was impossible to sleep. (The windows are double paned, so when they are closed, they do block the noise well). The shower is an adapted bathtub, and it is nearly impossible to position the shower head on the wall attachment without water going all over the floor. It is also very difficult to control the water temperature so a lot of water is wasted while trying to avoid hot and cold extremes.

Very good location in centre of town.Room well appointed bed very comfortable.Breakfast was exceptional with variety and amount.Room checker missed empty shampoo bottles on shower shelf from previous guest and did not replenish coffee sachets.Hotel arranged a shuttle from airport to Hotel a good service however after landing I waited nearly an hour for awaited next shuttle passenger driver apologised however I think being asked to wait this long is excessive so if you use this option be aware of possible very slow airport to Hotel journey.

Very pleasant & obliging reception/ concierge staff. Single room was very tightly packed. Double bed in this size of room is too much. Shower cubicle hard to enter/ exit. Room Thermostat failure, fixed later. Long corridors in hotel. Bottled water - complimentary + given a plateful of fruit pieces. Poor TV channel choice. Late check out was appreciated. Excellent breakfast. Wow, What a choice of food!. Even able to freshly squeeze your own oranges...wonderful. Original idea!. Within walking distance of railway/ coach station. Close to all touristic places. Concierge can organise tours too. Remember local hotel tax at check-out!

Great hotel in the center of Ljubljana. Our family stayed here and had a wonderful experience will attending a conference. The staff were nice and friendly and the location was wonderful. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff were on top of the cleaning each day when we left. The rooms were quiet and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was slick. The only reason for a four star was because the bathroom in one of our rooms was a bit outdated and had some damage on the ceiling. Hardly noticeable, but still. The breakfast was probably the best part. I mean, when you have goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes to feast on, what is to complain about. The food was great and the kids found much to eat as well. Highly recommend a stay while in Ljubljana.

My wife and I really like this Best Western Hotel. It is definitely one of the nicer ones we have stayed at. They serve a wonderful breakfast buffet. The best we had on the tourist road which we were on for 5 weeks. The hotel is clean and is modern. Staff is attentive. It was really nice that the windows opened in our room. The room seemed larger than most. We also love the location being so close to the triple bridge area. So why the 4 star rating? Our room was on the street side and several floors up. We were there over the weekend. Well they sure like to party at night in Ljubljana. In fact, we could hear them outside hooting and hollering until 0300 in the morning. We kept our windows and drapes closed but to no avail. The other reason is the poor service at the restaurant downstairs. We recommend going some place else to eat.

Stayed for 5 nights at the Best Western Slon. Centrally located in a pedestrianised area with easy access to the centre of the city and all amenities. Excellent buffet breakfast with a wide variety of choice. Rooms were large with a comfortable bed, very clean and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended

Enjoyed three nights in this great hotel. The hotel is located centrally next to the old town centre - so a great spot from which to explore the city. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped - though we found the heating too hot and hard to control. The breakfast is good with wide selection and long opening time - good if you want to avoid the busy time around 9am. The staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. The hotel arranged hotel transfers at €9 pp each way.

One of best hotels i ve ever stayed, location is core center, breakfast excellent, wi fi perfect, pillow menu, so many channels on TV,... rooms perfection, clean, modern, spacious, caffe and restaurant one of best in whole Ljubljana and staff i don t have good enough word to describe how they are professional, always smiled from reception to concierges pure perfection i wish that in all hotels where i travel have this staff. Definitely will come back again.

Hotel Slon is located in the center of Ljubljana, meaning you can access all interesting spots walking from it. The park and the bottom of the castle hill are just ten minutes walks. My company being a bit stingy, my colleagues and I got only the small rooms on the back. Apart this size issue, they were quiet, well equiped and comfortable. Buffet breakfast is very complete and you can spend a whole week with different breakfast styles (continental, US, vegetarian, etc.) every day.

The location was excellent in the middle of the old city. Walking distance to most places of interest & shops. The rooms were large & very comfortable & the breakfast buffet was excellent. The Reception staff were warm & helpful & provided a personalised service. We stayed six nights & would definitely stay in this hotel again.

This hotel is located at the heart of downtown Ljublijana. It is easy to drive to and easy for walking to the river and around town. The locals know it as the Slon. The street in front of the hotel has primarily bus traffic and very few cars. Therefore, we did not have problem with the noise. Our room was clean and bed comfortable. The hotel also has a good on-site restaurant (Slon 1552), which serves delicious foods.

Our room, as well as corridors, elevator, lobby, and dining areas were very clean. Hotel Slon is centrally located. The absolute tastiest and largest European breakfast buffet we have ever encountered. The staff at Hotel Slon was friendly and so helpful. Hotels in the USA should observe the front desk, housekeeping and breakfast staff for pointers as to how to treat guests. The front desk staff spoke several languages, very helpful for monolinguals. Definitely worth a trip back.

Great location. Good staff. Nice breakfast. Take a stroll around the corner to the street food vendors. Probably the most amazing city I have ever visited. Lake Bled is a must see. Hotel will recommend great options to get there.

A nice and historical hotel located in the centre of the town, just one hundred meters from the three-bridges. Rooms are average for this type of hotels. The restaurant and bar are quite nice. Staff are friendly to an extent.

In the very center of town. Accessible by car even though in the pedestrian zone. Valet parking. Nice room, and overlooking the inside court (not much of a view) it was very quiet for a peaceful sleep. Nice espresso-machine :-)

Currently the best location of a major chain hotel in Ljubljana; just one block from the triple bridge and old town. Had a ‘comfort' room that could do with an update, but reasonable size bedroom and bathroom; if you want something more contemporary then book a superior room. Had a room overlooking Slovenska cesta, but fortunately it wasn't too noisy over the weekend, even when windows were opened; earplugs were thoughtfully provided in the room, however! Others have pointed out what a great breakfast (included) is offered – agree! Had one dinner at the hotel restaurant 1552; was ok, but would recommend Druga Violina in the old town for a good value tasty meal (suggest booking or join the queue).

It is well worth staying in this hotel for its location right at the edge of the old city and not far from the university area. The rooms we had (deluxe double, corner suite) also were light and reasonably sized, clean, with parquet floors, OK linens and good toiletries, as well as good coffee and tea making equipment. But the decor is old, the carpeting in the halls looks shabby, the lobby ceiling is low, -- in short, this is not a charming hotel from the outside or from its public spaces. Would we stay here again? We just might, given how incredibly convenient it was. Some of the staff were a bit brusque, but others were very nice and helpful. PS Breakfast offered a huge variety of foods, though quality of breads, pastries, etc was not top class, for example. That said, you could get yourself a reasonable quality meal, including by ordering eggs - just do not expect a farm to table artisan experience.

We spent one night at Hotel Slon in Ljubljana recently. We found this hotel to be top notch. The king room was terrific with plenty of amenities. They thought of everything including robes an slippers. The breakfast was outstanding with many different options. There was something for everyone. The location was great, as well. It was just a short walk to shops, restaurants, markets and many other places of interest. You won't go wrong if you stay here!

No air conditioning! We checked in on a warm sunny day in September and when we got to our room it was very hot. Tried turning down the a/c with no luck. After inquiring at the desk we were told the engineer had turned off the a/c for the season but that the room would cool off in the evening. It never did! When we tried leaving the window open for air there was so much noise from the nearby pub that stayed open until 3 am that it was impossible to sleep. There was no mention of the a/c being seasonal on any available media. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who needs quiet or a comfortable tempera

Rooms are immaculate and lux with every feature you could desire. Service wonderful courteous and kind at all levels. One of the nicest hotels I've stayed at. See my other reviews. I like good places. Breakfast was one of the nicest I've had. Very healthy. I stayed with my 2 kids. We all fitted comfortably. Beds are latex .... so comfortable. Get a superior room on the corner with 3 windows. This hotel offers more than stated on the website. Staff and amenities are of a very consistently high standard. Also literally round corner from main tourist attractions and shopping. Wonderful city with great street furnitureand and attention to detail in relation to town planning. Great technogym gym... if you have time and inclination. Local beer on tap is very nice. Book this hotel

Located close to the old town but some good shopping. Nowhere is more than 20 minutes walk away. The in house restaurant Slon 1552 is good but others nearby also good. The concierge Tomislav was especially helpful as he suggested and pre booked restaurants prior to our arrival and helped again while we were in the city. A great asset to the hotel and very helpful for first time visitors. All staff on reception were happy to help with directions . Rooms a little warm but well equipped with kettle and hairdryer tv and safe. Mini bar in room although could not comment on pricing. Breakfast good selection with hot and cold options. Also local sparkling wine. Would recommend to friends

Very nice hotel situated around 300 metres from main square (Preseren Square) and Triple Bridge. The hotel is in restricted traffic area but can be accessed by car for drop off purposes. We stayed 3 nights in Comfort Double room which was excellent, quiet (despite our room being on front), clean and very comfortable with all facilities (including umbrella!) you could want. Breakfast was excellent with good selection - would point out that it was always busy during our stay with some guests having to wait for tables. Staff were excellent, spoke good English and were always available to help. Would definitely choose this hotel if ever return to Ljubljana which certainly plan to do - it is a lovely, vibrant and interesting city.

i stayed at the slon for a week to participate in a conference . It was a very good experience. the location couldn't be better on a pedestrianized main street and five minutes walk from the heart of the historic center. The room well appointed and staff helpful. A rich and varied breakfast and the quality of the food at the hotel restaurant remarkable including a four course midday lunch at a convenient price.

This is a large hotel located just outside the tourist centre of Ljubljana. We had an 'economy' room which was rather small and had a rather ordinary desk and chair in it, possibly for business travellers but not very nice for tourists. However, the food we ate at this hotel was wonderful. We had a light dinner in the evening on the lane way beside the hotel and the food and wine were delicious. There is a nice coffee shop at the front as well and we enjoyed an afternoon tea here. The breakfast was beyond wonderful. A lovely, bright sunny room and an absolutely magnificent spread of food. I would go back here for the food alone (and the location couldn't be bettered either).

Stayed here for 5 nights as part of a Riviera Travel holiday to Slovenia. Owing to 3 hour delay on Easyjet from Gatwick, we arrived in the early hours of the morning, but a very smooth check-in and we made use of the mini bar in the room for a nightcap. Room was a good size, clean and well appointed but I would describe the bathroom as compact. A huge selection at the buffet breakfast, including Prosecco for those who like a Bucks Fizz ( or just on its own ). Ideally situated in the centre of the lovely city of Ljubljana. We didn't use the hotel restaurant in the evenings, rather we enjoyed dining on the pavement, people watching, outside the restaurants by the river.

First they us the wrong room and then the second one was dirty, had nails, a bottle cap and a face mask under the bed, but we noticed way too late so we didnt even bother with it. If they dont clean under the bed, then I really dont trust that the beds were clean either. The lobby looks about 10 times better than the rooms (small and dated) and the gym is really small, the only good thing about this place is the buffet, a lot of different good food. Would not recommend you to stay here, I bet you can find a better place in this price range. This is also my 2nd time posting this review because the first time it got flagged and removed for no reason.

Perfect location, a nice and quiet room, very friendly service at the front desk as well as in the breakfast room - you could even get freshly squeezed orange juice brought to the table by a friendly lady. The lobby bar serves excellent ice cream and cocktails.

We choose one night for dinner in Restaurant located in hotel Slon and it was excelent, very good location in city center food very good, excelent Slovenian wine, nice design modern in Restaurant, I recomended this place for dinner or drink.

All in all, the hotel is so situated in the city center of Ljubliana. It was easily accessible to go every part of the centrum by walking. The hotel entrance and the room were really clean. The utensil of bath was really amazing and they used to utilitize expensive shower gels and shampoos. The breakfast was rather good. The personnel was really helpful to customers and they tried to find the solution of the problem no matter what it sakes. I was really satisfied to having been stayed this hotel. Thanks for everything...

Superior hotel in a great location in Ljubljana. Beautiful and with great maintenance. Staff were very supportive every time we needed them, specially during check in. Rooms are amazing and also breakfast with a enormous variety of food. Very safe to walk around even at night. They could just improve on the showers once we almost flooded the bathroom because of the shower bath project.

We stayed in this hotel courtesy of Riviera Travel,for 5 days in July whilst we traversed beautiful Slovenia North to South &. East to West. It is situated perfectly in the centre of this lovely unspoilt city within walking distance of river with boat trips, promenade restaurants,castle with funicular railway & spectacular views and night spots. We had breakfast each day from what must have been one of the best buffets we've experienced with special teapots & whopping built-in cups for those choosing English breakfast tea! And you could order a la carte too Very good rooms and comfortable queen-size bed and excellent service. Part of my travelogue to friends whilst there, said,"Quick - visit lovely unspoilt Ljubljana in beautifiul Slovenia before it is over-run by tourists".

Buffet Breakfast was fantastic with a good spread. Beds and pillows were very comfy. Superb hotel, bang in the centre of town. Rooms were very clean. Sauna and Steam Room were excellent. Lots of restaurants and shopping area at door step of the hotel. We had a lovely stay in this hotel and would recommend it. I would like to particularly mention and thank all the staff were friendly and helpful and were glad to help ! WiFi was great, Aircon was excellent and view from room was nice.

We had high hopes for this place that we booked for the final day of our vacation in wonderful Croatia. In the end we felt lucky that we had only booked for a single night there. The entrance is nice but the staff, although perfectly pleasant, appeared just to be going through the paces and have no interest in you. This, indeed, was our general feeling about the staff in the hotel, probably indicative that management wasn't interested in them and so that feeling trickled down. The hotel exuded the tiredness of a much-faded elegance of years ago. This extended to our bedroom that, although perfectly clean with a comfortable bed and great blackout blinds was too hot due to a non-functioning air conditioning unit: it made a lot of noise but to no avail. The breakfast spread, while large, was generally lacklustre and of mediocre quality e.g. considering Zadar market is amazing, what little fresh fruit there was on offer was poor quality and supplemented by canned fruit.

The is really a 4 star Hotel. The beds were the best as was the breakfast especially as it didn't finish until 11:00. The bar and some of the staff in the bar were a little weird. However, we enjoyed our stay and we will be back and stay in this hotel again.

For me Slon is the best hotel in the world! The only one where I can sleep like home, great bed, wonderful linen. Breakfast is extraordinary and you can also order if you want something more (never used that). Position is perfect, parking is wonderful managed, you drive in front of the hotel and hotel stuff take your car to parking lot.

Best Western is ideally located to visit the city. Few minutes walk from the first points of interest (river, restaurants, Tivoli park, bus station..) and to go to the castle using the funicular or your feet. Hotel can arrange for you an airport pick-up with the shuttle (9€). Breakfast is good but very busy, not easy to get a free table.

This stay was nice. 3 nights in a normal room. Bed&pillow very comfy. Breakfast could be more various. Overall - recommended stay. Hotel is located right in the city centre. No parking at the hotel, but the staff arrange everything.

This hotel was friendly and attentive from the start. You walk in to a mood-lit reception and the smell of vanilla Yankee candles. You know right away you are surrounded by class. The rooms are very tidy and the bedding is soft from down feathers. If thats not your thing you have four other options of pillow to make you comfy. The bedrooms are immaculately maintained by the room service staff and the breakfast spread is superior. If you aren't drawn in by those fine details then the friendly and knowledgable staff should tip the scales. I would return here every time for all the reasons mentioned already but also the convenient location which is just around the corner from Old Town.

The main issue we had was no hot water for the first day and night so we had to have cold showers - not the best start to our visit and no compensation was offered, not even a goodwill drink - hence I would be tempted to give an 'average' rating. However the central location means that the hotel is a short walk from the old town, providing a great base from which to explore Ljubliana. Breakfast was also fantastic!

SLON's two biggest strong points are location and breakfast. The location is within the pedestrian zone, a block from the main square and many historic buildings and triple bridge. The views from the rooms are incredible. Note that, although the hotel is within a pedestrian zone, it has an exemption so you can drive your car there and turn it over for valet parking ($20/night). The hotel's rates are quite reasonable. The lobby and desk staff are welcoming. There are many restaurants nearby. The buffet breakfast is world class. On Sunday morning, we had to wait for a table, but on other days there should be no problem. When we reached our room, there was a stuffed elephant (a slon) waiting for us. Overall, our stay was wonderful. I have four issues that I would bring to the hotel's attention. If they are not important to you, then ignore them. 1. The revolving door for entry/exit goes very fast. Upon arrival, after entering near midnight to say we finally arrived, I was walking back out to talk with my wife. The revolving door hit me hard on the left shoulder, throwing me for a loop. The desk clerk sanguinely commented, "it goes very fast." He didn't say, "are you okay?" More important, revolving doors typically have sensors so the doors stop before striking someone like that. At a minimum, this door must be slowed down. If feasible, sensors should be installed. After that, we tried to avoid the revolving door but exiting by using a different door. 2. We stayed at this hotel partly because of the wellness facilities. I was told to access them we simply had to go to the second floor. However, in reality, after walking the full length of the second floor, one must go DOWN seventeen steps and then, immediately open a door and go UP seventeen steps on a winding stairway. Why this up and down business? Why can't the sauna simply be accessed on the second floor without walking 68 steps? I'm not a fan of steps and for physical reasons try to avoid dealing with them so this would be a consideration in a future stay. Otherwise, the wellness facilities were adequate. 3. We attempted to use the bar/lounge at 10 p.m. Sunday, but it was already closing. My wife asked the bar tender who said, "We are closed." One official hotel document said it was open until 11 p.m. Another said it was open until midnight. Apparently, the bar/lounge closes whenever it feels like. If closing time has officially changed, they should change the documents. IF they close whenever they feel like it, then that seems unprofessional. 4. A beautiful stuffed elephant was in a bag on our bed when we arrived. I asked someone at the desk whether it was free. This person said it cost 10 EU and would be on my bill However, on exit, when I attempted to return it, I was told by a different person, "No, it is a gift to you, there is no cost." There should have been a note presented with the original gift saying, "This is our gift to you." I don't know whether this elephant is given to all guests. I'm merely suggesting that the desk staff clear up their communications about stuffed elephants.

This hotel is located one block from" The Old Town " . It is in a car free zone, lots of shops to visit and outdoor restaurants along the river. Good check in and comfy beds. Great location with modern amenities.

We choose this hotel because of the good reviews and location.After some troubles to park the car,we would recommend to use the wallet parking directly in hotel,when 20 euro is still quite fair price in the city center.Lobby is very nice,but the room itself was having this kind of 90' hotel flavor also smelled kind of that way,which was pity,considering the rest of the hotel which was really nice. Also in this kind of hotel we would not expect the offers of 1plus1 one drink for free or bottle of wine for free,when you buy a dinner flyer in the room etc..Breakfast was in the other hand indeed very good and also the waiters were very professional.Overally we would recommend this hotel,but still some things should be modernized.

I have to admit that the first impression of this hotel is not so amazing. It is a old building with new renovation and the room I booked was an economic room, which is not so appreciated for 2 people. Therefore, we decide to upgrade the room. The new room was very nice and the space was larger. Although the hotel is very close to the main street, the room stays very quite. All the staffs are very helpful and kindly provide all the possible help they can. The location is also very convenient. It takes about 5 min walk to the triple bridge or 10 min to the bus/ train station. Breakfast was also delicious and full of different choices. However, since this is an old building, the air conditioning is a bit noisy. In general, I would say this is a very nice hotel with a bit expensive price.

This is a great hotel is located in the heart of Ljubljana in the Pedestrian Mall area. Very comfortable, modernized to Western Standards. The only downside ..No vehicle traffic access for Drop off and pickup of luggage. Except for Tour groups by Bus. So be sure to pack only wheeled luggage and backpacks for the 2 block walk. The staff is very knowledgeable, professional and friendly.

Pros: The location of this hotel is just perfect, in downtown almost next the river and all the sights. Also the train station and bus station are within 15 min walk. The staff is friendly and helpful. Also all the wishes that I had like having a silent room were taken into account. The breakfast is the best hotel breakfast I've had for years. The bed was super comfy. The room was clean. Cons: the general impression of the hotel room (comfort room) was a bit worn-out (the floor, the walls etc.). The breakfast room was busy and too small for the number of people there was.

We couldn't fault this hotel if we tried! The rooms are so comfortable, clean and cool. The staff are so friendly, helpful and informative. The breakfasts are delicious and varied and the beakfast room is light and airy and so clean.

We stayed at Slon hotel when visiting Ljubljana. The service including valet parking was very good and efficient. We were upgraded to a suite with a spacious bathroom. The breakfast was outstanding with a large selection of food and drinks. Good value for money.

You will not be disappointed with this hotel.. The beds were really comfortable. The rooms were well equipped with hairdryers fridges, tea and coffee making facilities. everywhere was very clean. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast is vast with an amazing choice. Wi-Fi is free.

We enjoyed a 2 night stay in a very comfortable room with widescreen tv, coffee pod machine and luxurious L'Occitaine toiletries. The latter included pillow sleep spray, shampoo, body wash, body lotion, sewing kit, soap, buzz fizzer, shower cap and vanity set. The breakfast had a huge choice of lovely hot and cold items and freshly squeezed orange juice. Lovely pastries and fresh fruit as well as nuts and dried fruit. Large selection of hot drinks. We did not eat dinner in the hotel but we had coffee and cake in the bar and also some lovely cocktails. Service was very friendly and we were given some discount vouchers to use. We were asked for them which was refreshing! Would definitely stay in the Slon Hotel again and recommend it to others looking for a luxury base close to the city centre. 2-3 minute walk and we had all the sights of the old town before us.

This hotel is very well located in downtown Ljubljana and the service personnel is very friendly and helpful. However, rooms need renovation and they are small. The restaurant of the hotel was not good, the food was quite poor for a restaurant of these level and price. Also, the service at the restaurant was poor. In general, I felt that there wasn't a good price cost relationship.

We walked from the bus station. There's a convenient grocery store to buy water, wine, and snacks. The location is perfect to walk to all the top sights. Our room was excellent. We highly recommend it but, if you're staying on a Friday or Saturday night, don't get a room on the street side because the partiers on the street go late in the night and the noise bothered us some. The breakfast is extensive and good and you can order eggs or whatever as well. Our eggs benedict were perfect

Two of us stayed at Hotel Slon in early October. We had our travel agent change the last few days of our trip from Zagreb to Ljubljana, we couldn't have been more pleased with Hotel Slon. The location was perfect. The restaurants and bar were delicious- they even had a little bakery case with Lake Bled Cream Cake... it was nice to have this local treat one more time before going back home. Lastly, the pillow menu...such a great amenity. Would stay again!!

We picked this hotel for the location which was great. 2 days is ample to see this small city. Hotel was lovely although the rooms are on the small side. But our bathroom was so small only 1 person could use it at a time. The shower was tiny too. These were the only negatives. That is why I gave it 4/5. Stayed for 3 nights on an independent leisure trip. Although located on a pedestrianized street, taxis can get within 50 meters of the hotel. Local City busses pass the hotel entrance. Large professionally run hotel with very spacious and clean rooms with en suite bathrooms. Caters to a lot of conferences. Huge breakfast room on the first floor with massive choice, but the 'hot' food was mainly 'cold' and you can request cooked to order food at no extra cost, which is highly recommended. Less than 5 minutes walk to the Triple Bridge and the essential sights of Ljubljana and ten minutes from the train and bus stations.

This hotel was, apart from a few things, literally perfect. Pros: - Kind staff - Breakfast HUGE and really good - Room good and best bed I have ever tried - Centrally located (2 min walking from the 3 bridges) - No noise from other rooms/outside Cons: - Dinner has to improve, not really impressed - Some rooms (like mine) had a bad view (the back of the hotel) - Check in procedure a little bit long (I arrived alongside a group) and only 2 elevators Overall, really great hotel and, in future, I will definitely come back!

A lovely hotel with old world charm. Doesn't feel like any Best Western in the USA. A very comfortable room. The included breakfast was fantastic. We were expecting a continental breakfast but it was so very much more than that. Delicious. I had a wonderful Thai massage as well. The hotel is close to the river and all that area has to offer.

We stayed here four nights and enjoyed it. The corridors may be a bit over the top, but rooms are nice, well maintained and with quite ok facilities. Breakfast was very good compared to most south and Central European hotels. It can be recommended. Staff is friendly and helpful!

Excellent and very helpful personnel (front desk, breakfast, room service). Everyone with a very good knowledge of English. The breakfast was very rich (hot, cold, fruit and healthy breakfast possibilities). The Hotel was very close to the congress center and to the old sector of the city. Only con was the size of the Room. It was fully equipped with mini bar, toilletries, slippers, safety box, Coffee maker etc. BUT very small in size (budget room I think). Supposed to be double room for single use. My personal opinion is that it was not enough for two persons. For single room it was enough. I cannot comment on the price since I think it was very expensive, but may be the rates were raised because of the congress (135 Euros per night).

My friend chose this hotel and prepaid on Booking.com. I later found less expensive and more sustainable/green options, but prepayment had no refunds. I'm glad things turned out the way they did, though! This is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in while on vacation - lovely lobby, comfortable room, free bottled water and chocolate, and the location is amazing. There's a great spread at breakfast with good coffee and attentive service. I couldn't have been happier.

Just awful stay....definitely I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The service is extremely bad. In one of my stays i forgot one shirt, after 1 month i want back to pick it up, but they didn't give it to me because they haven the keys or whatever, then they asked me for money for sending the shirt home...after spending multiple stays at the hotel and being a loyal customer...definitely never going back to this one

One block from the beautiful old city of Ljubljana. Very nice breakfast too. Rooms are a little outdated and bathroom (at least in our room) had a combined bath and shower that wasn't very well designed, ending in a wet floor every time. Overall, good value for the money in a great location.

This hotel is in a great location and we were able to walk everywhere in the city from here. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the extras like the robe, water, and chocolates, but the highlight was the amazing breakfast. Most of the staff we met were friendly, but the employee that checked us in didn't seem to be enjoying his job that day. He had a bit of an attitude, but it truly didn't ruin the visit for us. The rooms were not vacuumed every day, but most of the amenities were replenished on a daily basis except the bar soap on the next to the last day. Overall, the location was a top priority for us and this hotel was perfect for that.

We were super impressed with our recent two night stay at the BW Premier Hotel Slon, it certainly exceeded our expectations and is a far cry from what I remember the Best Western brand properties being like in the past. The hotel is located in the main part of the city, with the two main squares of Ljubljana being within a close walk. We arrived by train from Budapest and chose to walk the 15 minutes or so to the property from the station. Lubljana's famous art deco 'sky scraper' is also just across the road. The roof top bar therein is worth a trip to enjoy a drink and/or coffee with the view. We were checked-in at the hotel very quickly and were also impressed by our room. It's a good size, everything was in good condition and worked as it should. The bed was really comfortable and there was a range of pillows to chose from. Unlike many European hotel rooms there was also plenty of storage. Outside of the room, the hotel is very modern, there is a lovely lounge bar / cafe on the ground floor. We had wine and cake there, which were very nice. Our room rate also included breakfast, which is in a large airy dining room on level 1. There is a great selection of food and the quality is really good. While from a machine, the coffee was also high standard, All the staff we dealt with were very pleasant and there are very good looking bell boys everywhere you turn in the foyer area! Overall, our stay here was really wonderful and if you find yourself in this charming little city, it will make a really good base for your stay.

The hotel is at a perfect place in the middle of the city so you can walk all the time to the river to the restaurants and pubs. The Reseption is great very friendly and helpful. Rooms are old and not really nice. Breakfast is a great choice of different stuff but the staff was horrible we didn't get coffee served ect... The garage is also with 20 euro to expensive. Wouldn't go back again!

I had read the reviews of Hotel Slon before booking and felt confident that it would suit us. It did! Lovely hotel, great rooms, comfy beds and friendly helpful staff. The position of the hotel is excellent and we could wander into the heart of the city easily. The bus and train stations were a 10 minute walk away .

The hotel is located in the center of the city very close to the most visited places in the city. It is located on the main street near the main sights, museums Opera House, the shopping street and the highest building in Slovenia. The shopping street starts from the rear of the hotel. It takes 15-20 minutes to reach the hotel on foot from the main train station. I stayed in a single room which was spacious enough.Both the staff and the receptionists are wiling to help the customers.There are 2 elevators at the hotel and staff helps the guests to carry their baggage to the room. Breakfast was complimentary and the meals are delicious and abundant. There is free wireless internet both in the room and at the public areas. The room has LCD TV in which English channels are available, a minibar, a hair dryer and free toiletries in the bathroom. The hotel offers free shuttle car to the airport for which I paid 9 Euros for a single trip.It has a typical Best Western quality. In short I would recommend this hotel for its fabulous location,free breakfast and affordable price.

Have just returned from a weekend break at this hotel. It is centrally located within the pedestrian part of the city and is easy walking distance to all the main attractions including the castle. As the hotel is in the pedestrian precinct we arranged for the hotel to do both the airport transfers which I would thoroughly recommend. The hotel itself was what you expect of a Best Western hotel and provided a good breakfast for a four star hotel.

I was lucky enough to get upgraded in this hotel, and had a wonderful room with excellent treatment and felt flattered to be looked after so specially. However - two comments: the bar on the ground floor was poor. We ordered two caipirinha, and they were really disgusting. Having spent years in Brazil I know what they are meant to be like. When I suggested they needed more sweetener, I was given the brush off. The Slon 1552 Restaurant was wonderful, although we felt our waiter need to be a little more cheerful. We had to keep chatting him up to make him smile. Shouldn't be necessary. The food and wine were great.

Best western Slon hotel has been fantastic in handling my change of dates. I booked a non refundable room through a third party and Zelkjo was able to assist me with changing my dates due to some travel changes I had with no extra fees and they were able to accommodate and reasonably offer me a solution quickly with no fuss. Quiet room facing inner yard. All worked well, except for where to hang a wet towel in the bathroom to dry. Hotel promoted ecology and reusing the towels, but a towel rack was missing in the bathroom. Otherwise nice room and functioning air-conditioning. Excellent service, superb breakfast. Hot Finnish sauna with a possibility to throw some water to the hot stones! Also a steam sauna to ease breathing. Splended.

I was on a business trip while at this hotel. The location is amazing, it is really central and the reception lobby is quite nice. The halls on the upper floors are a bit old but the rooms are really decent.

This hotel is optimally located, right by restaurants and shopping, a stone's throw away from Preseren Square and the Triple Bridge, and within walking distance of the Avtobusna Postaja, the main bus stop (think Greyhound for those in the US). Good breakfast, nice staff, gym is small but adequate. Note: weekend nights can be noisy as the disco/club in the hotel's ground floor can be loud!

Hotel is near many sightseeing places in Ljubljana. About 5 mins walk to Preseren Square where all the eateries and shops are. Hotel is very central and is good for those who wants to stay in the city center. Rooms are clean and bed is comfy, suitable for couples. Breakfast is also included in the hotel price and variation was good. Will definitely return again !

Great hotel, lovely staff who were very helpful and the location was fabulous. The room was very comfortable. We used the valet service for the car - 20euro cost but worth it. Could easily have stayed a second night if we did not have other plans.

I have been with my family on a city break to Ljubljana and even more, to some places from Slovenia. We have chosen Hotel Slon from Ljubljana. Same good quality: room clean, warm, big and soft bed, clean bathroom and towels, with a natural flower near the window, hair drier, soap, shampoo, bathrobe, iron, flat TV, internet, coffee and tea in the room + minibar. It is true, they do not have balcony (only for the apartments from the corner). You can smoke only on the street. The restaurant is good. In the morning large breakfast with great variety. But no terrace for a smoking coffee. (If you want to smoke inside, go to Austria, it's close!) In the evening, good taste food. Not cheap (Slovenia is not cheap), but good. Personnel at the reception, in the restaurant or room are very polite, prompt in answering. We arranged a one day trip with Slovenia Explorer at the reception and a transfer to aeroport (9 Euro/person by shuttle and 28 Euro by taxi. We were 3 persons = 27 Eur by bus, so for 1 Euro in plus, we took a taxi). So, Hotel Slon is a hotel of 4 good stars and is not the most expensive in the city.

Hi, I stayed at this hotel in Week 11. Pros - Nice hotel bang in the center of the city. Everything is accessible nearby - the castle, shopping, restaurants, and other interesting places. The room is very big - a very big welcome change compared to the rooms in Western and Northern Europe. The breakfast menu is sumptuous and widespread. Most of the guests stay within a week duration and so if the menu is changed every day then it will be great even if the changes are minor. The bar is also very good - You get coupons for happy hours too. The first day - I am pretty sure the bottle opener wasn't there in the room - So - this calls for some improvement in the service. Also - If they can make some more additions on the late night menu - it will also be great. The SPA is excellent - I am not sure if they have a swimming pool or not - that will also be a very good addition. Also - It was sometime before the food I had left over night on day 1 was picked up - It created quite a smell inside the room. This is also a feedback for improvement.

My wife and I spent three nights at this little hotel at the beginning of April and found it very charming. It is located a few hundred meters from the train station and can be reached relatively easily on foot, even with luggage. It is also very near the city centre — you turn left from the hotel main entrance and the Triple Bridges are just a few minutes straight ahead down the street. Our room was located at a corner on the fourth floor, which could be reached via a small elevator. It was of a decent size, with sufficient space to place our two suitcases in an easily accessible manner. Decoration was modern and tasteful, and everything was spotlessly clean and functioning properly. Breakfast at the first floor restaurant consisted of a good selection of hot and cold dishes. The important thing was not about the number of choices but that the food was well prepared with high quality ingredients. In addition to the usual eggs and sausages and cold cuts, there were even smoked salmon, freshly squeezed orange juice and sparkling wine. The hotel gave us a number of coupons for drinks — those buy-one-get-one-free discounts that I am generally not too keen about. However, seeing that the hotel lounge and restaurant were always packed with people (many seemed to be locals), we decided to take up the offer and had drinks at the lounge one night and then at the restaurant the following night. The waitress at the lounge was very helpful and gave us ideas about local Slovenian dishes to try out at a nearby restaurant. Her recommendations turned out to be very good. I'd also like to add that the waitress was not the only helpful staff member. All other staff members that we met were polite, cheerful and ready to help. On the day of our arrival, we had to mail a parcel back home, and the concierge staff was extremely helpful in getting our packaging materials together.

Excellent choice for a short break in this attractive city. Travelled with friends, and we were all impressed. Location is ideal - Triple Bridge and old town are a few minutes away in one direction, major museums equally close in the other. Friendly and helpful staff in all areas offer a genuinely warm welcome. Bar and restaurant have a real buzz about them, and seem equally popular with locals and hotel guests. Prices are reasonable in both. Breakfast is served in a dedicated room on the first floor. Light and airy, with an enormous choice available from the buffet, and hot and cold options. Rooms are comfortable and well maintained. Would certainly stay here again on a return visit to Ljubljana.

The hotel is in an ideal location and the staff are over the top helpful and kind. They offer one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever seen for a 4 star hotel and I have been to 90 countries. The hotel is an incredible value. The restaurant and bar are very nice as well. Tip for the hotel = please air out the breakfast room. It would be helpful if you opened the windows in the morning and in the evening before and after the customers eat in the room. Thank you very much. While expensive the breakfast room really should not have carpeting and should be replaced with a solid surface.

Slon is a business and tourist hotel in the heart of Ljubljana. Within a short walking distance there is the river with many shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. The hotel has a traditional architecture and must have been renovated. My room had parquet floor, which is quite unusual. Slon has a great breakfast room and an excellent breakfast. The hotel is located on a street where buses are travelling, and your taxi may be able to drop you off in front of the hotel, but basically the street is off limits for individual traffic including taxis. Despite this I found the room rather noisy during the day (my room was above the entrance facing that street). Slon has an ok-sized fitness studio and a small sauna and steam bath area (the changing area is really tiny). The sauna is only operational in the evening, at other times you need to request it to be turned on. On the negative side is that I was woken up at 6 a.m. by a non-scheduled automatic wake-up call. This has the potential of ruining your night.

We arrived a day late to the hotel after a nightmare experience with Lufthansa and what a lovely welcome. The hotel is located right in the centre of the old city, literally 2 minutes round the corner is the "official" centre and the river walk. Check in was quick and the staff very friendly and helpful. The room is massive with although we booked single beds they're both the size of queens. All the usual amenities you'd expect from a 4 star hotel, coffee making, mini bar, dressing gowns, 24 hour room service etc. Our room on the 4th floor had a lovely view of the old post office and the castle on the hill. There's a 24 hour fitness centre which was needed after eating the gorgeous chocolate cakes in the bar/cafe on the ground floor!

Stayed 6 nights for a sight seeing trip. Perfect location right in the middle of all the main sights. Peaceful at night so we slept well. Breakfast was good a very large choice and staff always happy to help.

I arrived tired and perhaps a bit critical- but the friendly reception helped, and I was given a pleasant corner room. You know how embarrassing it is when you can't find the bedroom lights? The staff member who came to help showed me the switch hidden behind the pillow. When I asked what the obvious but non-functioning switches just inside the door were for, he said "Oh, those don't do anything.....". Mmm. The room service "Marinated young beef fillet, shallots, mushrooms, herbs" was ample for a tired traveller, but consisted of lots of lettuce, tomatoes, boiled egg, slightly sweaty cheese, and strips of beef- but not a shallot, mushroom or herb in sight. Why?? And some pepper would have been nice.

We had a short break in Ljubljana and this hotel is in great location and a short distance walk to the 3 bridges and the castle and river nice restaurants We where on second floor, which at night we can hear some noises out side, but apart from that nice big rooms, good gym and would recommend a. 80min message, it was great

I love this hotel , looks great , great location . Staff friendly ! Room clean and attention to detail like chocolate and water left in too ! Has restaurant and lounge and breakfast great selection of many things ! We did order poached eggs which took forever but only downside really apart from that would love to come back

A very warm welcome at the check-in counter, a great room with everything we needed, a great spa area where we could relax after exploring the city and a fantastic breakfast. Moreover the hotel is in the heart of this very charming city and everything therefore within walking distance. As others are saying it is a fantastic hotel at a very good price.

It is in the heart of the city. Rooms are not big enough but a very nice cafe at the lobby floor and perfect breakfast. It is clean and quite. You can walk almost everywhere in the old city. Price is reasonable. Strongly recommended.

Greeted by uniformed staff eager to help us, we checked in to this lovely hotel located at a busy shopping street very close to all the sights in the old town. It was quiet and comfortable with free spa, free WiFi and the most well assorted breakfast buffet, I have ever seen. The room was equipped with an electric kettle, cups, coffee, the, free chocolate and even earplugs. My warmest recommendations!

I stayed here for a business trip. The staff was amazing. Main floors were quite nice; however room was small and hadn't been refurbished for a long time. Location was also good for sightseeing - walkable to everything. I would stay again but upgrade to nicer room.

We booked this hotel for 1 night and have to say we look back and wish we had stayed here another night to enjoy the hotel and the city of Ljubljana. Everyone in the hotel was friendly. The room was great. The gym was really good and the bar and food was excellent. Would highly recommend.

We travel to Ljubljana for one special event and hotel is real nice near fare and main train station. There's an elaborate attention to detail, but not in a way that's oppressive. It's simply that your every need seems catered for.

from outside it does look a little old stylish >Hotel but when you walk in there is a complete different story, the rooms are great and you can see they really have done a nice job with the interior, great service and the location is amazing you can walk almost anywhere in the city center

I enjoyed my stay in Hotel Slon (Elephant), my room was comfortable as well as clean. Breakfast buffet was very rich, unfortunately there were no warm plates, so the warm dishes cooled down pretty quickly. A plate heater would solve the problem.

Small rooms (just space for a bed and a table and 20 cm between them to walk, literally) with very thin walls (I can hear my neighbours cofing or walking on the floor). Beds are very close to the room door, so every time someone is passing, they can wake you up. No overnight cleaning/ironing service, iron can be borrowed if you are lucky (nothing in room and very limited stock on reception). As the result I could not sleep properly and prepare my cloths for the morning meeting. The worst hotel I ever used for business trips (especially since they present themselves as a 4-star hotel). Will never choose this hotel again.

Deserving of its 4* status, clean, friendly staff reasonably proportioned rooms, of a quality you would expect for the price. The breakfast is a sight to behold, as tourists we had hearty breakfasts which saw us through to supper with the lightest of lunchtime snacks. However it is a main City Centre Hotel with an open ground floor coffee shop and lounge seating. As a hotel guest I would have appreciated a hotel guests lounge to sit in, rather than the public space which resembled a railway cafe, the noise was deafening across the whole of the ground floor.

I was so much satisfied by this hotel. The room were big, extremely confortable and clean. The breakfast was rich and of excellent quality. Small positive tips, chocolate on the bed, complimentary drinks, vouchers. Located 200m from every key-point.

I recently stayed here for several nights for business in the city. Upon arriving after a very long day of travel I received a warm welcome. My room was updated, had a great coffee maker, a very comfortable bed and excellent bathroom products. The breakfast room is airy and greets the morning well. The selection was plentiful and fresh. I was pleasantly surprised. Sometimes when traveling for business a hotel can feel cold and sterile. This hotel has a comfortable feel without being dowdy and run down. Well done! Plus, it's location can't be beat!

Four winter days re-discovering beautiful Ljubljana and relaxing in the comfort of the Slon Hotel where nothing is too much for the front office staff and the kitchen treats you to an inclusive luxurious champagne breakfast! Spoil yourself!

We visited this hotel in November as two female travelers, arriving into Ljubljana around 20.15. We arranged the bus transfer from the airport through the hotel and it was perfect for €9 each, he collected us from arrivals and it wasn't far to the hotel. Upon arrival we had a smooth check-in and went for a drink in the bar. It was a Friday night so it had a nice ambiance and free snowballs on the bar - a nice touch. The drinks were of high quality and started our break off perfectly. We wished we had checked the welcome pack as there were free drinks vouchers in there! The room itself was lovely and comfortable. There was a pillow menu and a very comfortable bed. The only downside was the noise throughout the night from the street below (something the hotel cannot manage) Breakfast was delicious. Lots of choice from cooked to Continental. Reception helped us to book a train as we were headed to Austria. Trains were cheap and easy to use. The station is about 5mins away by taxi. We paid £80 approximately and it was very good value and worth every penny. We liked it so much we considered altering our itinerary to stay there an additional night.

The positives If you are in town to do a spot of sightseeing this hotel hits the mark, all the main tourist spots are on your doorstep. Breakfast is more than adequate. The staff are friendly and cooperative. The Hotel bar / cafe is gorgeous and has reasonable prices. The negatives Some of the rooms face the street which can be noisy at night as people spill onto the streets . The inward facing rooms face a very ugly, messy and dirty courtyard. The rooms are very small. Complimentary water was only given on the first day. You may also wish to know - a full day in Ljubljana is enough to see all the main sights. You would need more time only to venture out of town to the country side ie. Lake Bled etc or to see all the museums.

100% on for location! Unfortunately, the 4* hotel “standard rooms” were about as good as a Motel 6. Space was enough for 2 pieces of luggage and falling into your bed. Carpeting gave the entire room a very dated feel. (Mini bar was fully stocked) Gym was great when used solo. Staff in the bar were slow; cocktails and coffees unimpressive. Didn't take advantage of any spa services; enjoyed our stay in the city. Would I stay again?.... yes; but I'd upgrade rooms for the price.

Perfect location right on the old city, everything is within walking distance. This is a lovely hotel with well appointed rooms, but the best thing for me was the fabulous breakfast. Everything you could possibly want, including sparkling wine for mimosas. The bar is also a nice space that seems to be popular with non-guests too. Highly recommended for a short break in this lovely city.

This is a lovely hotel near the triple bridge. The location could not have been more convenient for exploring Ljubljana, Slovenia. It is only a block from the Triple Bridge in the central part of the city. Also close to Congress Square. Very comfortable and clean rooms. Nice buffet breakfast.

The location of Slon (meaning elephant) was perfect, it is midcentre of everything, from the park, to the river, to the train station. The main road the hotel is on, is a 'living street' and the roads all to the side are pedestrianised. Being so close to the Train station was great to visit all the other sights in Sovenia. The bed was very comfortable and the amenities in the room were good (such as a Dolce Gusto coffee machine). The buffet breakfast was excellent, both hot and cold selections including coffee and juices were good. The staff had good English and were really helpful and were able to organise an airport shuttle for us. Shame it doesn't have a pool or bigger spa/steam room but next time my girlfriend will be taking up the 'chocolate massage / body run' that was offered in its treatment room. Perfect hotel. Would certainly stay again.

Located in the old town, you can visit all the sight seeings by foot. Very beautiful old town. Because there is no parking chance, the very friendly staffs bring your car to a multi-storey car park (costs 20€/Night). The breakfast is excellent. Price-performance ratio is very good.

We were travelling with our 2 year-old daughter. The hotel is located in the heart of Ljubljana therefore you cannot park in the surrounding unless you pay 20 eur/day. The main tourist attractions are pretty close which is convenient. We were accommodated in the 6th floor, the room was quite tiny moreover there was a crib. The bed was comfy with a wide variety of pillows but the bathroom and furniture was obsolete and shabby. Delicious breakfast, helpful and kind staff.

Just enjoyed an excellent few days staying at Hotel Slon and can highly recommend it as an ideal base, quietly located in the heart of the pedestrianised centre close to all amenities. Room was first class in every sense, all hotel staff friendly and helpful, and the breakfast choice and quality second to none. They even acknowledged my birthday with a bottle of bubbly and 2 tasty desserts delivered to our room compliments of the hotel! Would certainly stay there again on a return visit to Ljubljana.

The entire staff is very welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasurable time in the city. The food was very good too - both breakfast and dinner - and wine recommendations. We tried local food specialties and really enjoyed them. And as a bonus you are located at the edge of Llubljana pedestrian district.

The hotel itself, its central location and staff were good. The breakfast everyday was more than decent. The economy rooms are just that, economy, very tiny but otherwise comfortable. The big issue is with the abundant night life and attendant noise. Every night revelers and music can be heard well past 2 and 3 am. My first clue should've been the complimentary ear plugs in my room.

I was staying here for three nights. Location of the hotel is fantastic, it is right in the center of the city. Room was very small, but bathroom had a bathtub, which I loved. Breakfast was generous, many choices. We also had lunch twice and it was also good. Very good place to stay!

This hotel was fantastic. From the airport shuttle much cheaper then taxi to the great room with many amenities. From complimentary bottles of water to a fantastic breakfast bar all included. Rooms are very comfortable they even leave you weather reports for the next day.. highly recommended

Dear readers, we stayed with 2 of our sons at this perfect location hotel. The moment you park at the front door you will be taken care of by a welcoming smile and an extra hand for your language and your car. the moment you walk into the lobby an amazing fresh, still relaxing scent comes your way....wonderful - just loved it! the check-in was very smooth, friendly and fast with big smiles. the parking fee per day was 20EUR. Our rooms were fine, on our bed an Elefant was waiting for purchasing of 10EURO. At our bedside there was a Lavender spay for sweet dreams - i tell you it did work!!! in the wardrobe i found an umbrella - really super! an iron board, slippers and a bathrobe. they have a full mini-bar, tea and coffee and great shampoo and soap. it smells great. best of all is the breakfast - the variety and freshness - simply perfect! we really enjoyed the freshly baked croissants, the eggs, the fruits, the pancakes, the pastries, the sausages and all of it was perfect. big complement to the Chef - thank you for having us. they have a small gym too & sauna and relaxing room too. all the staff speak perfect english and are very friendly and efficient. the location of the hotel is perfect too. just around the corner the shopping area starts - supermarket, restaurants like WOK and bakery and so much more is in walking distance of 1 minute - yes 1 minute. best choice for us. thank you again - with best wishes family Al Mutawa - Petra

We visited Hotel Slon restaurant and we were absolutely fascinated. It was such a pleasant dinner. The food was great and our waiter Mr. Jon was really helpful and professional. We told him our wishes and he recommended the perfect food for both of us. And also he knew everything about the wine chart. The wine he recommended was delicious. The experience was so great that we returned the next day for a drink. We weren't staying at the Hotel Slon but the next time our path goes trough Slovenia we definitely will stay at your hotel and I cant wait! Best regards, Abigail

Centrally located hotell with a lovely decorated lobby and lounge bar. The standard rooms may be in need of some renovation, but are still comfortable with wide king beds and great minibar. The breakfast was the highpoint of our stay, lovely selection of fresh food both from a buffet and à la carte with no extra charge. Sparkling wine is alos included in the buffet, at least during the weekends. on saturday the breakfast is open until eleven så you can even make it an early brunch if you so desire. Recommended!

A big thank you to all the staff at the Best Western Premier Slon. The service is amazing and the staff are very accommodating. The rooms are a moderate size. The breakfast dining room is beautiful and there is an amazing selection. We took advantage of the valet parking and the staff took all the hassle of dealing with our copious amount of luggage. The location can not be beaten it is right on the pedestrian area of the old town and an easy walk to everything the old town has to offer. It is a beautiful city with so many photo opportunities and you won't waste a minute staying at this hotel because you are right there. Once again a big thank you and we look forward to staying here once more.

Grear location, fair prices, surprisingly friendly bar in the lobby (closes at 11pm though) but the room was far too small even for an experienced business traveller. It was also quite noisy, listening conversations next door. The staff is professional and apparently proud of newly renovated facility.

The Slon is a 4 star! 5 star's i would rate Hotel. Each and every department, Had very competent staff the were eager to help in every way, making my stay very enjoyable. I would like to bring particular attention to the restaurant manager Mr Andy Polo who's team produced a wonderful selection of highest quality fresh food and nothing was to much to ask for! And i felt their commitment to making my stay the most enjoyable was Paramount, Congratulation's the Slon you excelled.

The Hotel is well located in the old city district. There are many strolls down by the river (10 minutes walk to the famous Dragon bridge) and views of the Castle that dominates the skyline. The rooms are excellent, though the bathroom is small. Excellent towel quality. The bathroom had Face washers and tissues. They serve a good breakfast with an ample variety of food choices, though staff numbers a few. The Restaurant can be busy for Dinner so book early. A reasonable variety of Snacks and Light Meals are available from the ground floor Bar opposite reception. There are many restaurants within a 10 minute walk down beside the River. Air conditioning is fully controlled by the hotel, cool in summer, heat in winter, no personal adjustment available to suit personal needs.

We have never stayed in any hotel anywhere in the world where the staff have been so welcoming and friendly yet professional and efficient at the same time. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the service was impeccable. Thoughtful touches like birthday cake and a note left in our room when we returned after a day trip, little pots of bio honey were given to us when we checked out and when we arrived the bellboy gave us a map and pointed out all the most important landmarks in Ljubljana. The hotel itself is in an excellent and convenient location and the communal areas are very attractive with a coffee/cake cafe just off the lobby area. Breakfast, included in the room rate, was superb with a enormous selection of food to choose from as well as smoothies and cooked breakfasts made to order. Our room was spacious with a large comfortable bed, toiletries, slippers, gowns, wide screen television with plenty of channels, safe, mini bar and excellent WiFi. The only negative was that the room was a little dated and dark. In spite of that minor complaint, I would definitely stay there on our next visit to lovely Ljubljana and would recommend it to friends and family too. It was the perfect hotel for a special long weekend away.

Ljubljana was a destination we've never been and in the spur of a moment, we found ourselves on the road and searching the net for a place to stay. We quickly set our sites on the Best Western. This is a nice western-style hotel. There are a few signs of wear like worn carpeting in the wide stairways but you really need to look for the blemishes. We thought we'd use the gym and sauna area but didn't have the time. The layout for both are a little strange. You have to walk down stairs and then up again. Can't say I've seen an arrangement like that before. The morning breakfast is one of the better ones we've enjoyed in European hotels. It's definitely a bargain and if you're a big breakfast eater, this is the pick for you. If you're driving in to Ljubljana on the weekend, you may want to pass on overnight parking in the hotel. Park two blocks away on the street and save yourself A LOT of money. Parking is free after 1 p.m. on Saturdays. If you don't mind putting a few coins in the machine, it's a big cost savings. We enjoyed our stay in the Best Western. We would definitely come back and pick this place again!

I was teetering back-n-forth to give this hotel a 4 or 5 rating only because their room was pretty dated, very old furnishings, and not the most comfortable bed, but the location, service, and the breakfast spread completely over-compensate for the room. Let me say a word about the service... Top Notch! 2nd to none! Everyone from the extremely helpful front desk staff, to the bell hops, to the restaurant staff, and the cleaning staff. I've never met a nicer group of people just itching to bend over backwards to help you out. I can't thank them enough. I've never over-tipped so much in my life, but I couldn't help it. LOL. They were just so nice and helpful. The breakfast spread... fit for kings & queens, and despite the fact that they were serving quite a few business people, the staff were totally on top of it. Not a single food station went without food for any more than 10 seconds. They were watching everything very closely. Cleaning, re-arranging, re-filling, and just keeping up with the quality of it all the whole time. Kudos to them. And of course, the location... As others have mentioned, you can't ask for better. A 2 minute walk of the major town square leading to all the excellent restaurants and little shops dotted along the beautiful Ljubljanica river. All in all, an excellent experience. If I find my way back to Ljubljana, The Elephant (Slon) is my hotel.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better. You are literally a two minute walk away from the restaurants, shops and scenic walk along the river. The funicular up to the Castle is just a further two minutes' walk. The room was fine, but if your room faces the very unattractive court yard (think garbage and building supplies piled up), please be warned. The opposite side of the very small court yard looks like apartments. We didn't get much sleep while one of the apartments hosted a racuous party until well into the morning and someone from the back end of a restaurant threw wine bottles repeatedly into a garbage dumpster. Please also be aware that taxis are not allowed to come to the front of the hotel. The taxi our hotel called for us had us walk a block in the rain to the closest street where he was allowed to park.

We stayed here in June and many times before since this is our home on our every year visit to Slovenia. We had stayed in two other famous hotels in Ljubljana but even prices were about the same at that time they cannot be compared. I think Slon is the best hotel in Ljubljana. There are many reasons why we chose Slon to be our home in Slovenia. Hotel has renewed most of its rooms and they are really very nice. Elegant and comfortable. We usually stay in their largest corner suite that hasn't been renovated completely yet but it's nice. All windows are new and a cute balcony with a table and chairs and the best view make this room most wanted. Ask for suite No. 410. There is a new TV and a new coffee maker but we would be very satisfied even with the old ones because they were good as well. The room is very bright and large- enough to dance in it. Travelling a lot made me believe that the most important things in hotels are: a good bed, good breakfast and security. You have this in Slon and on very high standard. Their beds are the best and staying in many five star hotels around the world I can say they are the same as ones in the wonderful Palace Downtown hotel in Dubai and cannot be compared with other hotels in Europe where we stayed. The linen, towels, and bathrobes are of high quality cotton, wonderful and white as snow. It is hard to leave that nice bed in the morning. Amenities are just great, from basic ones of L'Occitaine brand to bath foam, pillow mist... Breakfast that is served from 6:00-11:00 is very rich with a lot of fruit, vegetables, sweets, excellent fresh baked bread, sparkling wine.... It's the proof the managment thinks much about guests not only profit. We spend more than an hour at breakfast that is our main meal in Slovenia just because it is so good and fresh. You can really enjoy at neatly arranged tables that you find only in very high class hotels. We stayed in a high class Rihga Royal hotel in Tokyo last week but I can say Slon is much, much better. Their restaurant Slon 1552 also offers wonderful lunches and fancy dinners. I would advice to have lunch and dinner here because it's much better from the restaurants around whose quality has fallen down because of many tourists. While restaurants popular among tourists think more about profit than quality of food and treat everybody like a "one time guest", Slon thinks also about making guests come again so they offer the best quality food. Staff is very kind and helpful, from the general manager to receptionists, waiters and house keepers and that is what attract us most of all. I may say that it's the staff that make us visit Slovenia again and again. All are really very kind but I would specially like to mention and thank Milica, Aleksander, Rajko and of course Mr. Jamnik for making our stay happy and comfortable. One of the most important things, especially these days, is security. If something happen, small and cheap hotels will not do for you anything. Saving money in choosing cheap hotels could cost you much more later, sometimes even your life. Slon has a new security system and very high insurance to be able to protect and help you when necessary. My review is too long but I just cannot be silent becase I wish so wonderful company gets more and more guests and as one of the travelers, I wish every traveler enjoys in beautiful Slovenia. The location of the hotel is the best of all other hotels in Ljubljana. It's in the center. All attractions of Ljubljana can be reached by foot in a few minutes. The main post office and a department store are just accross the street. High class store Emporium with world famous brands, wonderful open market with fresh vegetables and fruit are just a few meters away. Museums, galleries, Opera house, everything is around you. The central train station and bus station are less than 10 min on foot.The street leading there is quite good and smooth so you can go with suitcases very easily. If you stay in Slon you don't need a taxi at all what means you save money and have a nice day because you don't need to argue with taxi drivers. We have had toubles with taxi drivers around all Europe and don't want to use them. They ruin your day! The only think that we didn't like was leaving the hotel and wonderful staff. For us the most important of the trip is to stay in a nice and safe hotel so I am sure if you choose hotel Slon you will be satisfied.

We travelled as a group arriving late morning. No problem about accessing our rooms. One couples room was close to an external air conditioning unit so they asked to be relocated which they were without quibble. The rooms we had were excellent and had every feature you could need. Comfortable beds and large TV with english programmes. Complimentary water each day. The air conditioning only worked to cool or heat at the hotels choice. It was veery hot and we could have done with some cooling. The rooms were quiet although with hard floors some foot traffic was heard. The road outside was traffic free apart from buses so not much noise there. The ground floor bar and cafe was always buzzy and seemed to be a popular place for locals to meet. We didnt try the restaurant but the buffet breakfast was exceptionally good. You could squeeze your own OJ. Staff were brilliant throughout. The bedrooms are arranged along the main road and side street. The side street may be quieter but front facing rooms are fine for the reasons above

The hotel is located minutes away from the old town. Room is clean and comfortable. Great buffet breakfast which offers additional ala carte menu. However, service level at front desk and breakfast room need to improve. We were locked out from our room 5 minutes before 12pm check-out time. There was not a word of apology from the reception when the replaced access room card still could not open our room door. Reception eventually send a staff to assist us to open our room door after our friend who stayed couple of rooms away contacted the reception on our plight. The staff at breakfast room was not attentive in clearing soiled plates. Overall our stay was satisfactory.

Great location to the old town and castle, as well as shops nearby. There were some good restaurants nearby but we only discovered why earplugs were given, after we went to bed. It's noisy as the back of hotel is to a back lane and it is used by restaurant and other hotel staff. Other than that, hotel had a good breakfast buffet spread.

My husband travels for work and we stay in a lot of Best Western Hotels, this hotel by far was the BEST STAFFED hotel we have ever stayed in! From the doorman, desk staff, maid service and breakfast there was always someone st the ready to help with anything! The breakfast is by far the best we have found anywhere! And you must try one of the delicious desserts in the bar. Our room was clean and spacious with a great view! If you're in Ljubljana this is the place to stay!

Great hotel with a very good location in Ljubljana center at walking distance to all key places, spacious rooms, good Service and really excellent breakfast which is one of the best buffet breakfasts I have come accross anywhere. This all comes with great quality vs price ratio! Second time in this hotel already, and will go again.

Hotel is situated in the city center and all attractions, pubs, restaurants, Tivoli park, etc are in the walking distance. I was accomodated in the superior de luxe room, which was spacious, with big bathroom, very clean and supplied with all you could need during the stay (umbrella, bathrobe, nail file, sewing accessories etc). I really enjoyed excellent breakfast which offers various food for every taste. The staff deserves special mention - very polite, helpful and friendly. Overall, highly recommend!

Hotel is nice and with the best location in Ljubljana. There is only a minute to the city center and Preseren square. Rooms are nice and warm. In the lobby is a great cafe with great sweets. Breakfast was rich and tasteful.

Family of five stayed two nights in August 2017 in this hotel. Central location is very convenient, breakfast was very good. During our stay couple of us changed three rooms! The first room has had unendurable paint smell. The second room that was provided for replacement was small as a chicken coop and did not correspond to the class of the booked room. Finally the third room was provided with very loudly working air conditioner. We had to accept it because there were no other free rooms...

Our experience here was superb, so was a bit a surprised to read one or two negative reviews on here for it. In fact I would have to say it was one one of the best hotels we have stayed in during our 20+ years of travelling. Reasons - 1) location was brilliant, just by the main attractions 2) An amazing breakfast with so many options 3) one of the quietest rooms we have slept in Staff were good, but to be honest we had no reason to have any dealings with them, save for checking in and out. The room was comfortable and very clean. Wifi was excellent.

Not the best experience, we arrived on the 15/09/2017 as a group of 10 with 5 twin rooms booked to find out none were available. Two rooms were upgraded but 3 rooms had to settle with a double for the night. No apology was given but we were moved the next night to a twin. Unfortunately, it was on the second floor right above a wedding reception so it was noisy until 1:30. The second rooms bathroom shower leaked through the water screen flooding the bathroom and the bath would not drain unless held (picky but this is meant to be a four-star hotel, room 208). On the plus side, breakfast had a good choice of food which was enjoyable, the deco of the hotel is good and the downstairs bar is brilliant (staff, drinks and bar food all Excellent). Overall though I felt the place was more style over substance and was not worth the price. I can understand things can go wrong but with no apology and a poor resolution, I can't rate any higher.

The hotel is situated middle of commercial street and five minutes away from the old castle, As soon we got a room, they personally took care of our luggage and drove our car in their parking lot.The room was well furnished and the beds send us dreaming. There are plenty of restaurants around.

Ziga was especially helpful, in making our stay very comfortable and in allaying our fears when we had a problem going to the airport. He made sure our transport was there. Would definitely go back there and recommend without any hesitation.

We stayed here close to 2 weeks. Clean and very central location. A largish room compared to European hotel standards. Staff were Very friendly and upgraded my stay to a bigger room. It's surrounded by restaurants and pretty old sights, in the old city centre. Easy access to everywhere and a public car park for our rental car nearby. It's close to the Exhibition n conference centre. Easy walk of 10 minutes. Breakfast was superb, good range; including proper tea leaves and wide ranging.

Excellent central location. Better than expected for chain hotel. Rom 421 had huge comfy bed with fluffy pillows, good nights sleep. Bath looks lavish and large but is plastic and succeeds nether for long soak (too short) nor shower (over bath) and difficult to fill bath other than by using shower. Breakfast good, busy on Saturday. Not enough lifts - long wait sometimes. Hard to get the aircon to heat room on chilly day. Umbrella & bathrobes. Good sewing kit, nail files, & earplugs (not needed). Shoe shine machine by lift.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in early August. The location to the main town is a good 3-minute walk which made it perfect to enjoy the full hustle and bustle of the city. The room is adequate and clean. All the staff were friendly and courteous. The breakfast buffet is a delight, with a delicious and sumptous spread - sparkling wine included. It can only get busy on a Saturday morning and I had to wait for cups and cutleries. One day before my flight I have requested for a reservation in the shuttle bus that plies back and forth to the airport. It only took us 20-25 minutes to reach the airport which is again a plus for travellers. Simply put, the hotel is simple and modestly elegant. I will definitely stay her again when I go back in Ljubljana!

I stayed at Slon hotel for a business trip. It was a perfect location, as I was attending an event just 3 minutes away from the hotel. In fact, the hotel is just in the city centre. The first night everything was perfect. I just have to say that the buffet breakfast was really good. The bad point came on my second night when I was beaten by a spider.... I found it in the morning and informed the front desk to ask the housekeeper to check the room but when I came back that night, more spiders where in my room (in the window´s edge. To sum up: i stayed in 3 different rooms in a 4 night-stay as they couldn´t make the spiders disappear from my room (I moved each night to a different room just to sleep). I just expected to get moved to another single room the first night and forget the first one. In any case, the service at the front desk was very professional and I hope to stay there again when visiting Ljubljana.

When they told us this Best Western hotel was well located, they were not joking. It is only a long bock walk to the river front and countless cafes and restaurants. It is also right in the middle of the shopping district. The hotel staff are very friendly, helpful and speak excellent English. This is a Premier level hotel so is first class without being posh. The rooms are good and soundproof. The next time we visit this wonderful city, we will most certain Y stay here.

The location is fantastic, in walking distance from every major attraction. The fact that the breakfast was rich and tasteful, the room was clean and the air condition on, all these are basic requirements today and could be said about many other hotels. What makes Best Western Slon Ljubljana special is the staff. The politeness, the welcoming help, the promptness and professional service are an unsurpassed. We enjoyed a week in the hotel. On our last day, we had to leave very early in the morning for our flight. I was deeply impressed, when stepping in the lobby, we were invited to a hot cup of cappuccino and warm fresh pastry. Two lunch-boxes were given as well. I travel the world, but I have never, ever, encountered this sort of kindness from a city hotel.

we really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Premier Hotel Slon. We arrived late evening and enjoyed a drink in the bar. We ordered club sandwiches as the restaurant was closed and they were delicious! Service was great. The hotel is clean, staff are friendly, and it is only a 2 minute walk from the town centre and lots of shops. The breakfast buffet had something for everyone - eggs and bacon etc, plus fruit, yoghurt, granola, pumpkin seeds etc., plus a lovely variety of meats and cheeses with bread. Valet staff were really efficient taking care of our car which was really handy and cheaper than local parking. We would recommend this hotel for location, cleanliness, food, service and breakfast.

Stayed 2 nights at Hotel, the service is wonderful, location is very close to the old town and bus station is about a 5 min walk away. They have the best buffet breakfast and the staff are all very friendly and go out of their way to help. We originally booked one night but we're so impressed that we extended our stay by another night. The room we had was very small, which was not an issue for us as it was functional, but some might find too small, I think that there are larger rooms available you would need to check with hotel

My husband and I had the best hotel experience on our recent trip to Hotel Slon in Ljubljana. Google maps misdirected us on the drive in from Ljubljana airport and we got confused on a pedestrian only street. We ended up parking and walking up to the valet (Ziga) who walked with us back to our illegally parked car and drove us back to the hotel (explaining the confusing road signs on the way). He offered some of his favorite things to do then also put us in touch with the concierge Tom who sat down with us for an hour (!!!!) drawing on maps and giving us basically a free tour. These two guys were amazing our whole trip. The room itself was very nice and we had a great view of the sunset. There was a nice bathroom and robes/slippers. There was also a "pillow menu" where you could order specific pillows (what????)! The (included) breakfast was out of this world. Champagne, coffee bar, with gourmet food. Lots of vegetarian options. Really everything anyone could ever ask for. Really, the staff (especially Ziga and Tom) went above all expectations to help us enjoy our first time in Ljubljana. We will likely never experience hospitality like this again. Thank you so much!!!

This hotel is very well situated for a stay in Ljubljana. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff is most helpful. Breakfast has a variety of food to fit anyone 's needs. Would definitely return if I were in the area.

Never felt so welcome or treated in my life! Everything is taken care of from the second you park your car to checking out in the morning. Great sauna, comfy beds, plenty of pillows, beautiful bathroom, ear plugs provided although I couldn't hear anything all night, HUGE range at breakfast and extra helpful and friendly staff. Loved being able to walk right out into Ljubljana's old town as well - loved my stay so much I had to buy the elephant! Wish I'd booked two nights!

I can recommend this hotel. Kind of expensive for Ljubljana but almost worth it. It's modern and fresh and with good breakfast. A good selection of amenities in the room and the room has everything you need such as iron and ironboard.

The location is right in the center of Ljubljana. Breakfast was including everything from fresh fruits to large variety of cheese, pastry etc. Room was clean . The only down side is the room size - was big enough to include double bed and a desk.

Very close (200 metres) to the old town centre. Clean modern hotel with the usual amenities in the room, tea/coffee etc Good and secure wi-fi . Very helpful staff. Excellent food including plenty of choice for breakfast. Very fluffy towels which felt luxurious.

In midst of Ljubljana's pedestrian zone, and a short walking distance to the old town, this hotel manages to combine the charm of the past with a modern interior, including the rooms and bathrooms. Friendly staff, good breakfast, reasonable prices (for Slovenia, whose price level for tourists is getting close to Western Europe). Parking, not on site, however, is a bummer at €20 Euros a day, but there seems to be no reasonable alternative. Soon the new Intercontinental, just a few blocks away, will be operational. Then the old Elefant will face competition...

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the larger rooms on the 4th floor. The room was clean and comfortable and quiet. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and the hotel is a short walk from everything you would want to see in the city. Highly recommended. Just one minor point, the room safe is located at the top of the wardrobe which was impossible for me to reach and even my husband (who is very tall) could not see into it.

It would be difficult to find a more perfect holiday hotel. The staff are uniformly charming, helpful and cheerful; the bedrooms are spotlessly clean and well appointed; and the breakfast buffet is a cornucopia of excellence. There is a very good cafe/bar and a high class restaurant for those who want to avoid the high season crowds in the many city centre restaurants. We stayed for a week and were thoroughly impressed with the quality and efficiency of the service. Excellent value for money, and in a perfect position on the edge of the old city and only 200 metres from the Tivoli Park.Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a Riviera coach tour to Slovenia. What a great location this is, right in the heart of Ljubljana main street, like being in the middle of Oxford Street in London. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and accommodated all our (easy) requests without any complaints. Our room was nice and overlooked the side of the hotel. Given that the outside temperature on some days was about 38 degrees C the air conditioning worked very well and was not too noisy. Breakfast was included in our package and again this was excellent with plenty of choice for hot and cold foods. The fresh bread selection everyday was superb. The waiting staff were mostly students doing a vacation job but were always helpful. It was a pleasure to stay at a nice City centre hotel for 5 nights (6 days) and to use it as a base to see many lovely places in Slovenia.

Fabulous location for city, great to be close to everything. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast very nice and appreciated the fresh fruit, make your own muesli with nuts/ seeds/dried fruits, yogurt and granola pots and other healthy options.. Seeded bread also very nice. They provided toasting bread - would have been good to have a toaster too although they did make toast on request but this took a while. Lovely comfortable bed and pillows and appreciated the ear plugs as I'm a light sleeper and the air con and traffic provided some noise. Some things in the room didn't work (window wouldn't close, remote for TV only worked intermittently, staff member had to fix safe) and the room, reception area and corridors all looked old fashioned and needed a make over. Shower attachment in bath was positioned in the wrong place so the screen didn't prevent water leaking all over the floor - why would the plumber do this!!. This meant we could only use the bath (fine for me but my husband prefers a shower).

My spouse and I stayed at the Best Western Premier Hotel Slon for three nights in late August 2016. We booked our room online using the Best Western website. The Premier brand indicates that the hotel is “an upscale property with refined atmosphere and style, deluxe amenities and features, and superior comfort and service.” During our stay, renovations were in progress. For example, the street-level bar and lounge were under construction, so it was difficult to navigate from the street to the smaller-than-usual lobby. To appease guests for the inconvenience, the hotel offered complimentary champagne and bottled water, but most of the time, the table was usually empty (except for dirty glasses). On another day, it was not possible to use the main staircase to reach the hotel restaurant. After they changes are complete, the property will be elevated. The legend of the Hotel Slon dates back 460 years. The word “slon” means “elephant” in Slovenian and is so named because an early guest arrived with an elephant. The elephant was rarely seen in Europe until public zoos opened in the late 1700s; therefore, owning an exotic animal was a sign of wealth, power, and privilege. In the mid-1500s, the Archduke of Austria married Mary of Spain and was about to become Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. On his way from Spain, he brought an elephant with him when he stayed at an inn in Ljubljana. That inn was located where the Hotel Slon was built in the 1930s and still stands today. Today, the Hotel Slon occupies an excellent location on the corner of a pedestrian street and a limited vehicular access road (called Slovenska Cesta) just a 3-minute walk to city center and a similar walk to the tram for the castle. You can easily walk to the Three Bridges, the Open Market, Tivoli Park, the post office, and the bus and train stations. The NAMA department store (which stands for “narodni magazin” or “national store”, a chain of stores that originated in the former Yugoslavia) is located diagonally across the street, and you can walk to many restaurants and shops (including a Spar grocery store). The airport is located 25 minutes from the hotel. The hotel offers parking for less than 20 Euros per night. Hotel amenities include the Slon 1552 restaurant/bar (however, it was closed for renovations during our visit), fitness center (with sauna), television (with many English channels), and complimentary Wi-Fi. The bright and spacious (and outdatedly elegant) breakfast room offers a huge buffet from 6:00 am to 11:00 am daily that includes fruit, breads, pastries, desserts, cold deli meats and cheeses, cereal, hot and cold entrees, freshly-squeezed juices and smoothies, and fancy coffees. The hotel offers 170 guestrooms in various categories spread across five floors. (The street level ground floor contains the lobby, lounge, and bar.) Only the superior deluxe category rooms had been recently renovated when we stayed, but perhaps other categories have been refurbished since then. Although our corner suite had not been renovated, it was still attractive, and offered an enormous amount of space with its hardwood floors and high ceilings. We booked one of the five nearly 600-square feet corner suites. Our rate included daily breakfast, evening turndown (with an elephant-shaped chocolate and the next day's weather forecast), (paid) minibar, and complimentary airport transfers (which were supposed to be provided using a BMW limo but in reality used a regular local taxi). The corner suites offer a small balcony with a tiny table and two chairs that overlook Slovenska Cesta and the Jakopic Promenade toward Tivoli Park and Tivoli Mansion. Our suite consisted of several areas: the foyer/entry way, living area, bedroom area, and hallway/closet area. The living area was huge, with two full-size sofas, coffee table and end tables, desk and chair, wall-mounted television, mini-bar, and coffee service. The bedroom area contained a large king-size bed (with a cute stuffed elephant that you can purchase as a souvenir), two nightstands, a large dresser/table, another television, and a pillow menu. Pocket doors separated the bedroom from the living area. Another clever sliding door either hid the small bedroom closet or blocked access to the hallway where the huge closet was located (including an electronic safe, bathrobes, slippers, and an umbrella). The hallway with the closet provided access back to the foyer, as well as to the bathroom, which held the combination bathtub/shower, toilet, and two sinks in a long vanity. The hotel supplies an extensive variety of L'Occitane toiletries, including soap, shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, body lotion, bath salt, and my favorite item, the lavender pillow sleep mist. The bathroom also offers a magnifying mirror, stool, hairdryer, and plenty of towels. We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Slon. When renovations are complete, the hotel will be one of the premier lodgings in Ljubljana.

We stayed for five nights as part of an organised trip. Our initial room allocation was rather small but we were immediately moved to a more suitable room. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean with enough space for clothes. Air con works, but was challenged by the 35C heat. Bathroom was small but well designed, and it was fine for us fir five nights. We used the concierge to book some restaurants, and he was brilliant at working out what we might like from our discussion, and then managing to book tables for us. Every suggestion was tremendous, and certainly enhanced our holiday. Breakfast was also very good, better than many similar hotels we have stayed at.

BWe booked two rooms for the weekend of July 1 to 3 in Best Western Premier Hotel Slon, Ljubljana, Slovenia through Expedia. When checked into the hotel in Ljubljana on July 1, saw a leaflet in the room offering the same room for the same weekend dates at Euro 192 (USD 220.00) for two nights per room Expedia rate of $346.00 that we paid for one room. When contacted hotel front desk immediately, they said they will honor if we had booked through them and since we have booked through Expedia, we have to contact Expedia. Immediately contacted Expedia customer service in USA. Expedia assured to help but called back after six days and said since booked through Expedia we cannot get Best Western's published rate. That did not make any sense as it looks one has to pay more if one books through Expedia. I also pointed out Expedia's price guarantee. My advice is to use Expedia for International hotel booking. We lost money by booking through Expedia. Price Guarantee Find a cheaper flight, vacation package, rental car, cruise or activity within 24 hours of booking and we'll refund the difference, plus give you a $50 travel coupon for future travel. For hotels, we go even further: If you find a cheaper rate on your hotel reservation up to two days before your check-in, we will refund the difference and give you a $50 travel coupon for future travel. My advice is not to use Expedia for International hotel booking. We lost money by booking through Expedia. Contacted Best Western, corporate management in Phoenix after Expedia's denial and Best Western claimed the Ljubljana hotel did not agree for the new rate (despite their leaflet in the room offering lower rate) and so Best Western, USA cannot honor the published rate. Suggest to look for a hotel that will honor their commitment when booking in Europe.

Nothing to say. Location is perfect downtown. Breakfast is superb. Price is good and service impeccable. Valet parking for just 20eurp. Staff very helpfull. Will certainly come back! Rooms were clean and large enough.

I would stay here again. Fantastic location within easy walking distance to everything. This city is a must-see. Wish we had more time here. Staff set up our airport shuttle and were very helpful. I predict this city is the next hottest thing. This hotel was amazing, chic, modern and thoughtfully appointed at every level.

This is an established hotel, which is part of the Best Western network and it is one of the best in the chain. It is centrally located, two books from the river, with excellent valley parking and has a professional and efficient staff. The rooms comes in various sizes: our was large by european standard, well appointed, quite and comfortable. The hotel has not changed its look over the last decades and look a bit old and tired. The breakfast was excellent in terms of quality and choices. Overall a very good place to stay.

We used this hotel for a city trip Ljubljana. The hotel has class, staff is professional and has valet parking for €20/day. Rooms are clean and have enough space, we did have some non blocking defects in the room like not all lamps worked. Beds are good. The hotel has got a small fitness and sauna/spa. The massage staff knows what it's doing. The hotel is situated right in the city centre. From here you can easily sightsee this beautiful city by foot.

This is a first class hotel with excellent, helpful staff and which is situated within easy walking distance of the city centre. We would not hesitate to book again, if we were ever to re-visit Ljubljana, which is perhaps the prettiest of the small European capital cities. All the employees that we met were very helpful from answering our enquires about hotel services, places to see in the city and directions for a short visit to Bled. No parking was available at the hotel but a valet service was available to and from a nearby secure car park and staff had not problems in making our car available, when we needed it.

For the last couple of days in Slovenia, I stayed in Ljubljana at Best Western Premier Hotel Slon. The rooms were very nice and clean with a large and comfortable bed. The staff at the reception was helpful and arranged the taxi for our early morning flight, and the restaurant was already open before we left (we normally don't use restaurants in the hotel) and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is located in the center of the city and all points of interest are within walking distance. We had a good couple of days in Ljubljana.

We stayed for one night. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was basic and clean and breakfast was fare. The proximity to the old city was very convenient. If you can avoid it, don't come with a car as Ljubljana is a parking nightmare and the hotel parking service is pricy.

My husband and i had a wedding in this hotel :) The whole service and food was exellent, the staff is kind and super profesional. The room was comfortable, cosy and clean. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who would like to stay in our nice city Ljubljana, sLOVEnia.

Excellent four-star hotel in the city center! + professional and very helpful staff (they even arranged a taxi on our last day to pick up our luggage for us from the hotel luggage room and us from another location outside city center) + clean and tidy + comfortable beds + peaceful lobby area + perfect location right in the city center and only 200 meters from Tivoli park suitable for jogging etc + great walk-in shower + nice smelling Occidentale-shampoo and lotion + in a family room there were two rooms that could be separated by a sliding door + very good breakfast with freshly squeeshed orange juice - the family room was not spacious. With the sofa bed open there were hardly any space left - someone yelling outside at night at an alley - on a weekend in July they had a busy time delivering breakfast and cleaning tables (on Monday everything worked smoothly) All on all, our family with school-aged children highly recommend the hotel. Best we stayed at in Slovenia.

The reception is attentive and helpful. Lobby of hotel is pretty. The advantage of this hotel is its location, best in town. There was a festival going on at night in the street so you stepped out and could enjoy some of the shows. But now the room: we got a room in the old part of the hotel. Gloomy, dark, not enough light to read or pack for that purpose. View of the room depressing, you can see the picture. The shower was uncomfortable to use, you had to jump in and out since it was high. The pressure of the shower was weak and the temperature kept on going from burning hot to cold in a second. A torture. Toiletries are L'Occitane, so at least that was good. All in all, if I went back to Ljubljana I would sill book here but only because of its location. And I would make sure I get a room in the remodeled part of the building.

We stayed at Slon for family vacation. Great hotel with very friendly service, clean and stylish rooms. Every little detail thought and planned carefully. Our corner suite on the 2nd floor was really spacious and had a terrace. The old town, all sigths, shops and restaurant around the corner. Very good breakfast!

Such a fantastic location with ease of walking to all places of interest and shops/bars etc. Recommend the restaurant at evening which suited our late arrival and the tasting menu of local dishes was very good.

Stayed here for 3 nights and had a really good time. The location of the hotel is excellent, only a couple of minutes walk from Presernov Trg and the Triple Bridge. The room itself was relatively small and possibly in need of a bit of updating, but was comfortable and more than adequate for what we wanted. The pillow menu was a nice touch and the mini bar very well stocked. Breakfast was included in our rate and was very good quality. There was the usual selection of cereals, pastries, cold cuts, cheese and hot food at the buffet, as well as a cooked to order menu with things like eggs Benedict on. The service is another plus point to the hotel - every staff member who we dealt with was professional and friendly. All in all a very good hotel that is a great option for any Ljubljana stay.

Hotel Slon is in a great location in the pedestrian area, 5 mins walk from the old town and close to a supermarket, bakery, McCafe, Zara etc etc. Taxis cannot drive right up to the hotel door but nearest taxi rank is only about 100m away. I stayed in a single room which was small but had everything I needed including a comfortable bed with luxury bedlinen. Room was quiet and air con kept it cool in the Ljubljana heatwave. Breakfast was great and rooms also have a kettle and tea and coffee. Hotel staff helped book well-priced taxis whenever we needed them. I'd definitely stay here on my next trip to Ljubljana!

This was one of the best hotels we have stayed in for a while. Great modern hotel, brilliant location and very spacious room to spread out and relax for 3 nights. Easy 5 minute walk to the main areas of Ljubljana, close to a number of restaurants and a supermarket just down the road for that lazy nights dinner. Reasonable breakfast with a good choice just be mindful of the time as there will be a lot of people competing for the tables. Hotel reception staff were excellent and very friendly. We arrived very early from our transfer from Bled (11:00 am) and were impressed that we were able to check in to our room. The quality of the bedding was exceptional and a great place to chill out. Highly recommended to stay here for a bit of luxury!!!!

Being on the main shopping "strip" and only 5 minutes' walk from the night life along the river, this hotel is ideally situated for a city break. However, the traffic restrictions for the periodically pedestrianised road make it inconvenient if you have a hire car. We had to park by a meter some roads away and walked to the hotel. To their credit, a valet was then despatched to collect our luggage and our car was put in a mysterious "secure car park" for €18 a day, which is not optimising our car rental fee! You do not need a car for Ljubljana but we are later heading up to the north-west mountains. The valet was then sent later to get the sunglasses that got left behind.... Our room was newly refurbished with new tiling in the bathroom and was clean throughout. It was slightly disappointing to note that the tv remote control was missing, the electric clock radio did not work and the sink plug needed adjusting. These were quickly remedied, but should have been noted during room set up ready for guest arrival. The supply of teabags in the room is a bit random - we currently have three green teabags and nothing else. There is a Spar just round the corner.... Noting comments about noise, I have to say our room is deathly quiet, both from inside the hotel and outside, although we do overlook a service area and not the road. The room has a free safe, minibar fridge (not free to drink, of course!), glasses, mugs and kettle. It is an adequate size. The hotel staff have all been very pleasant and friendly.

This is a lovely, well-located hotel. The rooms are light, clean and comfortable. I was grateful to get a room in Ljubljana at the last minute because, per trip advisor's search engine, they appeared to be in short supply. We were delighted at the quality of the hotel and our room. The staff was friendly and helpful also. Ljubljana is a beautiful city and our stay at this hotel enhanced our visit. I'd love to come back and spend more time at the Hotel Slon. Thank you!

My wife and I visited the Hotel Slon, in Ljubljana from 22nd to 27th June 2017. It is a very comfortable, centrally located hotel close to the main sites. The food was excellent, our room was very comfortable. In fact everything about the hotel was great, BUT, the housekeeping team on the 4th floor were very poor and let the hotel down. They were careless in cleaning, (sink surfaces were not cleaned), towels or flannels, toilet rolls and tissues were not replaced. The two women team did not seem to care about their quality of work, which was a shame because everything else about the hotel was great. My wife and I hope the manager of this specific cleaning team monitors their work to ensure an improvement.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Slon. The location is superb, right in the centre of the city, a two minute walk to the riverside and all the lovely shops, bars and restaurants. Every member of the team was very pleasant, friendly and very helpful. The lobby and bar areas are very newly renovated in a contemporary and chic style. Plenty of room in the bar, we always got a table and we were travelling with a large-ish group, and speedy service from the excellent team. We ate in the restaurant which was very smartly decorated, funky and cool with very comfortable chairs. Very good food and excellent service. Our room was huge - we chose a deluxe room and it was very well equipped, huge brand new TV, superb huge superking bed with very good pillows and mattress. The only thing stopping me from giving a full 5 stars was the variable shower temperature - this was experienced by most of our group and it was very difficult to get a consistent temperature, but the bathroom did have lovely L'Occitaine shampoos etc. But wifi was super fast and never dropped out which was great. However, all in all a great stay and we will come back. TIP: Call them and ask them to send a car to collect you at the airport -it's half the cost of the airport cabs, just €28 as opposed to the €60 we paid.

This hotel does not have a lot of impressive features however location overcomes everything. Right in the heart of the city, close to all attractions, restaurants and museums. Outside appearance normal modern building but inside the lobby and restaurant area looking very pretty. I think part of the hotel is refurbished to modern standards but the rest is pretty old. Room size is reasonable, bathrooms are adequate as well. In terms of cleanless, we did not have any concerns. Breakfast has enough varieties to make everyone happy. Car park is very expensive and takes at least 30 mins to get it back from vale service.

The hotel has an excellent location in the downtown of Ljubljana, so it's definitely the advantige which provides you (if you are a tourist) saving your time on using a bus or a car. Very kind employees, clean room, free wi-fi and the lavish breakfast. The only disadvantage, maybe only in my room :) was the old and many times used sleeping mattresses so I had a little problems with that.

Stayed here for one night. The first impression had was how professional and courteous the staff were. Took a basic double room on the fifth floor which was fine, bed very comfortable, huge TV screen and a view of the castle. My only niggle was that the air-con unit was very noisy but ineffective, it was a good job that the beer festival this weekend hepled me sleep soundly (must be the hops). Overall, a great hotel though, with a bit of history (it was previously the Hotel Elephant), good facilities on site and great staff. I would highly recommend spending some time in the branch of Zvezda coffee shop, which is attached to the downstairs lobby, and try some of the amazing cakes and pastries.

We really liked this little city. It is full of life and charming streets, good shopping, a nice market, a friendly old town, great views and vistas, and lots of good places to eat, drink and watch the world go by. Hotel Slon is conveniently located at the heart of downtown, and only a couple blocks (a pedestrian street) from old town and the riverfront. The accommodations were very comfortable and well-appointed, and the service was friendly and helpful.

This hotel does not have a lot of 'appearance' at the outside, but the inside is surprisingly nice, I had a reasonably sized room, which was in excellent shape, with a very clean bathroom and shower. The hotel corridors had thick carpet which nicely dampened the noise, so sleeping was not an issue. The breakfast and lunch featured many excellent local dishes, a nice surprise given that I had expected the 'usual hotel food'.

This was my first time in Ljubljana and I made a great choice by staying at the 'Elephant hotel'. The hotel is located in a walking distance from all the main sights - Neboticnik is just across the road, Preseren square and the Old Town are just a couple of minutes down the road, the castle and Metelkova are around 15-20 minutes walk. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. Definitely recommend!

An 8 minute walk from the train station (don't use the taxis there, they are all thieves), this hotel is located close to all the major sites in town. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great. WiFi worked well. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel I use more than 20 years for my trip. Always high standard and this time I got a amazing new renovated room and that was outstanding. Room 542 have the highest standard I ever seen at this hotel and also compared to other hotels it is outstanding. My visit yesterday was again nice experience here at Slon. Love this hotel.

Surprisingly for the Best Western brand, this centrally located property offers a large degree of luxury and comfort. Although the rooms are relatively small, they are certainly comfortable and relaxing. The linens are clean and fresh, with very comfortable mattresses and pillows. The room comes with excellent, free wifi and a flat screen TV, together with tea, coffee, kettle and (an expensive) mini bar. There was 1L of water on check in, but in my 3 day stay, it was only replenished once. A bit odd. There's a safe in the room and ample closet space, as well as very good air conditioning, even though the windows are fully functional and open easily if you prefer fresh air. The bathroom is small and contains a corner shower stall, but whereas the water pressure is excellent, the heat is impossible to control. The water is either scalding hot or luke warm. Finding the medium is virtually impossible and once you've set the taps, don't expect the water to stay at that temp. It will suddenly run ice cold or boiling hot, so be careful. Good bathroom amenities are provided, along with a towel robe and really nice, clean, fresh towels. The carpet had seen better days and was quite thick, as was the carpeting in the halls. This actually makes it slightly hard to wheel luggage. The lobby is very modern and fresh and the staff very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is served in a very modern, fresh space and there is a lot on offer, although primarily aimed at American/Western European tastes. There is nothing on offer that is particularly local, other than cold meats. It's all very good quality and there is whole fruit to take with you if you wish. All in all, a great experience. Not the cheapest option in the city, but you get what you pay for and there are other, equally priced properties that don't offer anything like the same luxury and comfort. The location is excellent, being a street away from the old town, but on the pedestrianized path of the newer city, walking distance to the railway and bus station. A great option for Ljubljana.

We booked the Slon as it was central and it proved to be ideal for us whilst recovering from knee problems. All the main sites in this beautiful medieval city were close to hand on (mainly) traffic free routes. The hotel itself is excellent - very clean and well equipped rooms, friendly staff and very quiet at night. The breakfast selection is very good with extra dishes available to order. Our last minute request for a room with an accessible shower was met with no problem and the pleasant manner of the reception staff was typical of this professional hotel - well done! My tips - book your airport shuttle via reception - only €9 per person and they shuttle they use is hassle free. If you just want a quick snack rather than a meal there is a SPAR shop within 60 metres and a couple of very good sandwich/cake shops close by.

Position in the very city center, very good and various breakfast buffet. Rooms are really clean and tidy. The only issue was that my window was really close to the cooling units so with the window open the room was really noisy also during the night time. Fair price for the level of the hotel and the extremely central location.

The Hotel Slon is a very nice hotel in an outstanding location. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms are well-appointed and quiet. The breakfast room is exceptionally pleasant, and the breakfast buffet is excellent. Steps away from the triple bridges, all of the major sites are within easy walking distance. A great stay at a very good price.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a very nice hotel bar overlooking the street and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. There was a good breakfast laid on in the morning. The hotel is centrally located and great value. A good hotel to stay in, if your are on a city break.

Apparently it is the custom that at the turn of the season, the aircon doesn't work. they open the window instead. Which is NOT great if you are on a lower floor and it's Friday or the weekend. They give you ear plugs, which they don't tell you about when you ring up and tell them that it's noisy. Don't forget you need to leave the window open for cool air or else you can bath in the stuffy heat of your room - and I didn't have the heater on - which they actually did leave on. I get that the weather might be unpredictable, it might rain or snow but one should also be managing the hotter side? It's so central we had some band playing (hostel round the corner) till late and people shouting in the middle of the night. That's what I remember of this hotel. I guess it's great just not during the change of season. Didn't enjoy staying there. Oh and sarcastic service at the hotel restaurant did not help make us have a better stay either.

Excellent location, accommodation and breakfast. Friendly staff and excellent service. We had a small issue with our room and they fix it immediately. In addition, we even received a bottle of champagne for the troubles.

Centrally located, the nightlife is just around the block from the hotel. Bars and restaurants line up the banks of Ljubljanita where one can enjoy watching football games on TV or just admiring the lights reflecting on the water. The rooms are generous and in the room we had, it had a sitting room and we had modern TV with HDMI inputs in both the sitting room and the bedroom. The room was clean and the bed sheets smelled and felt fresh. The bathroom is well lighted with separate shower and bathtub. Towels were fresh and the amenities well packaged. The front desk personnel were polite and very helpful. Check in and check out was a breeze. If I come back, this will be an obvious first choice!

What a great gem of a hotel. In fact, everything about this stay has been perfect - believe me when I say this as spending 150+ nights away each year you get kinda used to disappointment!! Everything was smooth - communication perfect and prompt, my car was there ready at the airport, arrived bang on time the next day for a meeting and ready for my return to the airport. The room was newly refurbished and very pleasant - the first hotel to leave "Lavender" spray next to the pillow for a restful sleep. Very comfy and I worked happily in the room. One weird and strange thing though - the door into the room opens into the hallway, I was knocked for 6 by a guest opening their door! Not sure what the thinking of this was???? Slovenia - wonderful people, beautiful city and although here on business will return for a weekend vacation. Thank you Slon - awesome team effort

This was our first stay at the Slon, though we had visited the cafe some years ago and found it quiet and dull. But now it is transformed and will definitely be our preferred hotel in Ljubljana. Our room was spacious and newly refurbished. The bed was very large and extremely comfortable. A Nespresso-style coffee machine was provided. The bathroom was smart and supplied with excellent toiletries. The breakfast buffet was high quality. But, more than all that, the service was 100%: not just super efficient but genuinely warm. Highly recommended.

Spent 2 nights at this hotel. It's in a great location and really does tick all the boxes. The staff on reception were all helpful and perfect for the role, the right mix of professional, courteous, helpful and down to earth friendly. The room, whilst realatively small and a little dark (dark wood doesn't help) was immaculate. Lots of little details thought of from the chocolates and next days weather report on the pillow to tea, coffee, umbrella, shoe polishing cloths and ear plugs. Breakfast was superb, lots of cold and hot buffet options with a separate menu card to order eggs Benedict and the likes from. Breakfast staff again superb and attentive. We drank in the bar which was modern but warm and inviting with lovely bar staff who made great cocktails with a smile. The only downside of the hotel was lack of sleep due to the noise in the street from people from bars. This facilities and the staff at this hotel made me decide to join the rewards programme as I will definitely return in the very near future with my family.

The hotel itself was nice, we have booked 2 superior deluxe suits because we have 2 families travelling and we have discovered that one of the room seems better than the other I.e they have a door to separate the master room and the living room and they have a tub in the bathroom, so we went to ask at the reception how come the other room doesn't come with the same build-in if both room type are the same, the reception insist that both rooms are the same and comes with bath tub. And when we enquire they are strongly reassure that both room have bath tub so I have to run back to our room to check and discover that there is no bath tub in our room and they explain that because our room has a bigger shower so we don't have a tub.... which is a bit weird to us that the same room type doesn't come with the same build-in but we were there for just one night so...don't even want to ruin our night that but enough said it was a bit of a disappointment to us, the hotel was well and the room is nice but there is always a 'but'

It's 5am now and drunk people are still singing outside on the street, waking me up multiple times tonight and that's why I am writing this complain note at this hour. Hotel is great, bed is comfortable but there is no air conditioner in the room meaning you have to open the window and people below are crazy noisy especially during weekend of public holiday eve.

Stayed in Hotel Slon for three nights and found the hotel to be very comfortable, breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice, as other have said the room was quite small this didn't bother us as we were out all the time. The bed was huge and very comfortable with lovely bedding, bath robes and slippers were provided and there was also a very good range of toiletries provided. The hotel is in a great location close to the old town and river where there are plenty of restaurants and bars, also very close to a pub which was handy for a night cap.

Reception personnel was just fantastic. We got a lot of information what and how to do in Ljubljana. They arranged for us a half day trip to Bled in a taxi with english-speaking driver at a very reasonable price and also transport from hotel to the airport. Breakfast is best I´ve seen so far in hotels. You could call it brunch because that is actually the right word for it. We had nice room on inner side of the building with a view to the Ljubljana Castle. Room was not very big but spacious enough for us.

I came to Ljubljana with my sisters and stayed in this hotel for two nights. The hotel is centrally located, 2 minutes walking to the old town, shops and restaurants are nearby as well. The staff is very polite and helpful, the room was clean and big enough for the three of us. Breakfast was sufficient with a good variety of options. I would only recommend to have more fruits. We had also dinner which I would suggest to anyone staying in the hotel. Overall we were very satisfied and we will definitely come back again.

This hotel is THE hotel when going to Ljubljana. Located right in the center of the city. Hotel staff is always friendly and very helpful. Room was clean, TV is big and the minibar has a good selection for a reasonable price as well as the hotel bar. Breakfast buffet has a huge selection and perfect mixture of sweet and salty foods.

Everything about this hotel was excellent, from the location, the food, the room and not forgetting the hotel staff who went above and beyond to help you. We had the best Easter weekend and the good weather was a bonus.

Location: Could not be better Service: Excellent! From booking the shuttle bus from the airport to checking out, the staff was always super helpful, quick and kind. We could always trust that our queries were taken care of in a respectful manner. Five star service. Hotel: Very clean rooms, soft beds, nice cotton sheets and also all the other areas in the hotel were very modern and clean. The spa area was very relaxing with two different types of saunas. Gym with some machines and free weights. Also massage services were available. Breakfast: Loads of different type of food available from fresh fruits, to smoothies, to warm food and pancakes. WIFI: Worked seamlessly. One log in was enough and after you got auto-connected. Additional tips: I would highly recommend to book the airport shuttle through the hotel. It is 9 euros per person, always on time and the driver is waiting you at the airport (or at the hotel on your departure date). Taxi from airport to the hotel can easily cost 50 euros if you do not know the prices. Funny fact: On the second floor we had wooden floors, while on the fifth floor our friends had a carper... if this makes a difference to someone :) However, even the room on the second floor facing the street was very quiet. All in all, I can highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return if I travelled back to Ljubljana.

We spent Easter weekend in the hotel. It's really fantastic! Clean, big and modern. The room in which we stayed was really spacious with a variety of equipment such as TV, coffee machine, ironing board, iphone charger, L'occitane toiletries, hairdryer, bathrobe, slippers and so on. The breakfast was huge and really delicious. The staff is absolutely nice, willing to help you. There's a 24 hours gym, which was one of the reasons I chose the hotel. And it didn't disappoint me. Although it wasn't huge, there was enough necessary equipment to workout. The hotel is located in the right center of the town and it's really close to all the main touristic attractions.

The hotel is located in the middle of the city, everything is walking distance. The rooms are nice and clean and well equipped. Staff is friendly and always smiling. Breakfast is good but nothing extra.

superb breakfast with eggs benedict and pancakes and proper fruit juice included. lovely sauna and steam room, Very nice accommodation, we were overlooking Tivoli gardens, just inside the pedestrian zone. no problem on check out, slight queue checking in. Didn't have time to try the restaurant, Clean and tidy, most staff were approachable, although smiles were at a premium. The only mark down was the a/c which was not cold enough yet.

This hotel was excellent. The room was very good, breakfast extremely good, and the location is superb in relation to everywhere you would want to go. We came by train which was about a 15-minute walk away, but a very easy walk (with luggage) on flat ground and very safe. We would certainly stay there again. The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble, including printing tickets, etc. We strongly recommend this hotel. Wifi was reliable and free.

Must admit that I never strung together "Best Western" and "luxury" in a single sentence and it still seems incongruous to me that this hotel is marketed as such. While there is nothing luxurious about it, it is certainly comfortable, clean and perfectly serviceable. The staff, especially the housekeeping and restaurant staff, are particularly friendly, helpful and eager to to make one feel at home. The hotel's location is ideal for visiting sights, the museums or performance and conference venues.

Very nice hotel lovely and clean and staff very friendly and helpful, couldn't have asked for a nicer hotel to stay in for a stag do. Was only a 5minute walk to the river with a lot of bars and restaurants to enjoy.

Hotel Slon in the very middle of Ljubljana makes you feel welcome right away. The service is friendly and accomodating and the decor is sober and classic. My room was very pleasant - at the very end of a long corridor, but with a small balcony as a bonus. All necessary amenities are there, it's nicely decorated and comfortable. Breakfast is nice and sumptuous and with a wide selection of both buffet items and breakfast specials to be ordered. The only minus, I could note was the quality of the fittings in the bathroom, where the wall-mounted shower was loose and the cap of the faucet fell off every time I usesd it. However, having stayed at some five-star hotels around Europe lately, my immediate reaction was that this one - with its four stars - matched in most respects.

A nice centrally located hotel very close to the city's sights and in a quiet road in which buses only can traverse. A pre-booking on line could yield a reasonable price and rooms are very comfortable with a great view of the castle available on its higher floors. It has a bar, restaurant, spa and a small gym. Worth choosing for a Ljubljana city break.
