"Great centrally located hotel"

20/06/2018

I had the good fortune to stay at the zimmerhof hotel last week. As i was on business it is located in a great location, right in the centre of town next to the new restaurants, and bars of lier. The room as excellent, a very comfy bed, English television and a large bathroom with power shower. The breakfast and coffee were plentiful and freshly prepared with the option of cooked or continental available. The only bad thing was the wifi in my room was non existent which became a problem for completing my work on returning to the hotel. All in all a good hotel and would most definitely visit again.

Lovely building and friendly staff. Room was nice and clean with everything one would require at hand. Breakfast was fresh and abundant. The hotel is located centrally and is close to bars, restaurants etc.

"Just what we needed "

After arriving late, due to traffic delays, we were greeted by a charming young man who due to lack of parking allowed us to pull our car into the grounds of the hotel. The rooms though small provided for every need; nothing was forgotten. The rooms were spotlessly clean with tea and coffee facilities, if we were staying longer. I would have chosen a ground floor room;there are steep narrow stairs to the first floor. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and set us up for our ongoing journey. The hotel is centrally located a few minutes from many restaurants that take orders until approximately 10pm.

"Good location but service to be improved"

Good location right in the center of the city! No free parking at the hotel, but you can park at CC De Mol which is only 8 minutes by foot. Breakfast was good, ample choice and fresh ingredients. We had a room on the 1st floor, for which you have to climb a very steep and uncomfortable staircase. The room was extremely small though, for 120€ per night I would expect a room where I can move comfortably along both sides of the bed. Room was very clean though, with separate bathroom and toilet. The only thing that really bothered me was the attitude of some staff members. When I called the hotel prior to arrival, the guy on the phone was quite unfriendly and not service-minded. Upon arrival the lady at reception was rather distant. No warm welcome here. Except for the lady who served breakfast in the morning, she was very friendly. We were staying at the hotel with a bunch of friends for an event and they all had the same experience.

"Stay in lier for business"

We arrived late and the hotel ia in the corner of the main square. A small problem is the parking in the adiacent square or streets. Not so easy to get one. But with some luck and patience it's possible. If you booked the room and have luggage, try to get a room on ground floor. You have to climb steep stars to get up to 1st floor. A lot of restaurants in the neighborhood but check first.breakfast is simple but pleanty. The night portier is really sympathic. Price should be a bit better but still fair.

Been to Lier before but did not consider staying in Lier. But this time stayed there for a week and loved the town and the hotel. Right in the heart of the town- next to the City hall and the Zimmer Tower, cobblestone streets and rows of restaurants. The location is convenient - train station (10 minutes walk), bus (2 minutes), parking (2 minutes). Breakfast is adequate by Continental standards, rooms are small but have all one needs. I'll stay again

"Good, but..."

Clean, comfortable, good room, good bathroom, but left feeling that it did not quite tick all the boxes. Had ground floor room, so could not leave window open, and was a very hot night. Layout of old building does not lead to a friendly environment. Negotiating steep stairs to an upstairs room with a suitcase would have been a nightmare! Breakfast included, but again bits not good. Excellent fruit and yogurts, but coffee machine having an off-day as was undrinkable!

"Very Hard to Find-See Attached Map!"

This hotel is very hard to find and it has no parking since it is right in the city center. In addition, many of the streets are one-way. We received a map of Lier which I have attached to this review showing where the hotel is located (look for the "X") and where the best parking lot can be found. Parking on the street can get you a fine! Note also the one-way streets on the map. Also, be aware that the hotel is located on the corner of Kapucijnen Street and Benijnhof Street. The directions from Best Western are worthless! On the plus side, this hotel had the best bed (a very comfortable king-sized bed) that we have had on our entire trip! The room was contemporary and spacious in spite of the age of the building. And it is just steps away from the main sights in Lier. Our room was Room #0.09 which was on ground level. However, each of the doors which enter from the courtyard also lead to a room above the ground floor room requiring the guests to carry their luggage up very steep stairs. That wouldn't have worked for us!

"Good standard and good price"

Good parking, efficient reception, clean and well-appointed room, reasonable breakfast and efficient check-out. Other big advantage is that the extraordinary steak house is only a very short walk away.

"Nice - but no heating on arrival"

Nasty surprise when arriving very late and noticing the heater had not been on. Very, very cold, impossible to warm the bed to a comfortable temperature in time, and when switching on the heater (which made a lot of fan noise) a bad smell filled the room. Also, do NOT book a first floor room if you are not young and sporty, as the stairs are very, very steep and dangerous - they also go right up to the door so best not to drink too much. Great breakfast though. Very charming looking little hotel.

"A little different - but very nice!"

Spent a week at BW Zimmerhof, Lier. Quite a different setup, as most of the rooms have the entrance outside. I was lucky to have a downstairs room, as those are bigger and the stairs going up were very steep and not really heavy-suitcase-friendly. Room itself was modern, with a very comfortable bed and nice bathroom with a skylight. Location was very central and close to shops and restaurants. Would stay there definitely in the future as well.

"exceptional stay in the centre of Lier"

A gem of a hotel in the centre of Lier. A very nicely refurbished hotel with large rooms: Good showers, coffee making facilities, computer desk, sitting area, etc. All in a very nice ambiance. Good bed and a nice yet simple breakfast buffet. Overall an exceptional stay and highly recommended. Do use a navigation system to find this.

"Wonderful hotel with lots of character!!"

"To enjoy Lier"

Despite the extreme weather we arrived safely in Lier for few days in Lier. The hotel is situated close to city centre (few minutes walk). Parking in the nearby (public) garage was easy. We used our Dutch parking account and will receive the invoice back home. The hotel is in old building, but has all the amenities one expect in a modern hotel. Our room (number 9) was spacious, clean with a bath and shower room. Plenty of towels and toiletries. The large bed was comfortable. Breakfast on the Sunday morning was plentiful. The other two mornings was very basic, which was a pity. The free wifi didn't work all the time or was very slow.(As my iPad switch to the Belgian network, I didn't take any action, so I cannot complain about it). Overall we enjoyed our few days in this hotel and recommend it. It gives value for money. .

"Good quality hotel in the centre of Lier"

I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and it is situated perfectly for a places to eat and drink. The shopping area is close by, shops tend to close about 18:00. The rooms are generally on the small side but are very well decorated. A large selection of food is available for the buffet breakfast.

"What we were looking for."

We were planning a dinner in a 2 star michelin restaurant in Duffel and on their web site it was suggested to stay here. The hotel is well located in the beautiful town called Lier. Booking directly with the hotel wasn't that easy (couldn't get a reply quickly), so I decided to book through booking.com which worked well. It is too bad the hotel doesn't have parking space for your car. When you arrive and not really know the location of the hotel yet, it is difficult to decide in which parking you park your car. Especially with all the one way streets in Lier. Before you know it you are at the other end of the city. They do have parking spaces for your bikes. Rooms are good and value for what you pay (although I am not sure about the airconditioning). The Wi-Fi is outdated. You have to login all the time and you have to pick up small pieces of paper giving a login name and login code for each device seperately you want to use. These login data are only valid for the day, so somewhere during the night, before the morning you lose the connection. If you succeed in connecting your device (OK for 2 iPhones, but my iPad never got connected) the connection is slow.
