We loved this hotel in the center of Lecce. Within walking distance to everything locally, and easy to navigate when driving to other towns. The hotel is lovely and the staff was very helpful with restaurant and sightseeing recommendations. Our room was spacious and we enjoyed the private balcony. Highly recommend!
We booked the Risorgimento Resort as we needed to find a hotel in Lecce that could store our bicycles, which limited our options. We chose this hotel also because of its central location and 5* rating. We assumed it would be quite a luxurious property. Whilst it was ok, it wasn't a 5* hotel despite its 5* price. We booked an executive room for EUR 211 which was quite expensive relative to other similar properties in Lecce. The hotel's website states that some of the executive rooms have a balcony overlooking the old town or inner courtyard. Ours had neither a balcony nor a view. It looked directly onto a wall. Although spacious with a separate dressing area and large bathroom, the room was dark and slightly dated. As a previous reviewer mentioned, we were pretty sure there were better rooms available in this category but we had been given one of the worst. Given the hotel had few guests staying in this quiet period it gave us he feeling that the staff and management are not particularly customer focussed. The breakfast was very good and included a delicious display of freshly baked Il Pasticciotto… amazing! There were also choices of Pistachio Croissants, Chocolate Croissants or the famous “Empty Croissant” lol. We did receive a bowl of grapes and some mini brownies in the room which we thought were a nice touch however the brownies tasted stale and we noticed that the ‘best by' date had expired by over a month. Oh well…
Excellent service and hospitality, wonderful breakfast, and our room was perfect! We stayed in the Penthouse Suite and enjoyed the terrace for three evenings with room service. Breakfast was plentiful in a lovely setting. We hope to return!
Perfect location, right in the centre. The hotel itself has very tasteful contemporary decor with touches of antiques carefully positioned, which give it a very unique vibe. The rooms are very clean, tastefully put together with a colour scheme to match the city. Excellent breakfast. Superb cleanliness and above all else, superb staff. Welcoming and attentive.
Travelled to Puglia/Lecce for New Year holiday and decided to stay in a 5 star hotel/resort . We choose Risorgimento Resort ! Lecce and Puglia are amazing and well worth a visit, but we found the hotel not to be up to its 5 star billing. A great disappointment ! Whilst the hotel was clean, the stuff well trained (less the last day), the room awful . We traveled a lot and stayed in different hotels of varying standards, the room was certainly below par for even a 4 star establishment. The decoration, furniture and carpet were dated ! The bathroom equipment as well ! Last night I couldn't find my nightgown. I assumed that is was taken by the made by mistake. At the reception the next day when I was checking out, I was told that it cannot be searched for, and found quickly. Surprise ! I didn't receive any apology for the negligence of the staff. I will be back in Puglia/Lecce, but not in Risorgimento Resort
This hotel was easy to find by car. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were large, clean, and well appointed. It is perfectly situated just at the edge of the old city. Allowed for easy access to both the old and new world. Breakfast room was elegant and well stocked. Would highly recommend.
There is no more convenient 5 star hotel in Lecce. Walk out the door and you are steps from the central square, fine restaurants, the four main churches and the cafes. Rooms are comfortable, clean and well appointed. The front desk people are helpful and friendly and of course speak English. The morning breakfast is well appointed with and attentive staff. The lobby has some religious icon made of the representative art form of Lecce - Paper mache'
Probably one of the best hotels in Lecce, right in the centre of the city. All the main places to visit were within easy walking distance. The Florence of Puglia is not an understatement. Hotel first class, staff friendly and attentive. Parking at the hotel is a necessity and costs €20 a night.
We spent 3 nights here with our tour group. We were in room 215. We did have a balcony. Room had small fridge. A/C did not work well. Would only cool room down to 21c and it got very warm at night. Shower, although small, had excellent water pressure. Bed was okay. Wi-Fi did not work great in room—very weak signal. Breakfast was fine. Coffee made to order. Easy walk to restaurants and sites around town. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
Perfect location in heart of Lecce old town and great base to explore the surrounding areas from. Clean comfortable rooms and. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfasts and the roof top terrace and lounging area downstairs were also lovely. The only slight downside was the food in the Terrace restaurant, it wasn't good at all. There are plenty of places in the surrounding area to eat though, so despite that we loved our stay and I highly recommend.
Very nice hotel in the center of Lecce! We were happy with our stay at Risorgimento. It is a classic 5 star hotel, but very well priced for Italy. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The staff working at reception were very friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet and well furnished, though Wi-Fi was not great. The rooftop bar is worth checking out for a cocktail in the early evening. You will find a lot of tour groups use this hotel. If I were to return to Lecce, I'd love to check out one of the palazzos which may have a bit more character. But overall, we had an excellent stay!
I debated between this hotel and Patria Palace. I chose Risorgimiento Resort and I was pleasantly surprised. It is a small hotel which I liked, service is 100% top notch, location is great, not much of a restaurant or the breakfast service ok, but I would highly recommend the hotel and I would hope to be back. We made Lecce our base for the south of the Salento exploring, and it is a great location to do that. I wished I had stay an extra night. Thanks Risorgimiento!
A great hotel if you want a perfect location with excellent, English-speaking staff and a very nice breakfast. Not so good if fast, reliable wi-fi is a requirement though. More details below. My wife and I booked this hotel through BA as part of a 10-day holiday in Lecce. It was a special anniversary so we wanted a nice hotel in the middle of the city. The location couldn't have been better. The piazza Sant'Oronzo was 100m from the hotel entrance and all of the other key sites and locations of the city were no more than a 10 minute walk away. The main eating/walking street was also only 100m away. In the hotel, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They all seemed to speak at least decent English with the reception staff very proficient - and helpful. The breakfast was a continental-style buffet with a good selection of fruits, cakes/pastries and meats/cheeses. Eggs and/or bacon was also available on request. Most of the time it was kept well-stocked but having a late breakfast one day we did notice a few gaps. With breakfast available between 7 and 10:30 every day, I don't think it was a common problem. We opted for a junior suite and the rooms were all of a very good size. The bathroom was bigger the room we had in the HeathrowT2/3 hotel where we stayed on the first night! The bed was bigger than super-king (7ft we reckoned) and very comfortable. The restaurant in the hotel considers itself top-notch I suspect. I don't think that full/half board if offered as an option so most guests go out to eat. We did eat there on the evening of our anniversary and enjoyed the meal. The service was again excellent and the food very good - if a little over-priced. There were only two minor (for us, anyway) failings of the hotel. The first is the lack of a swimming pool - or other outdoor/open air relaxation area. A small price to pay for the location perhaps. The second was the Wi-Fi. When we arrived it was ok but a little patchy in speed/strength across the three rooms. After 7 days it really deteriorated. According to the staff someone had complained about coverage in some of the rooms so they were trying to improve matters. For the last three days though, access was entirely unreliable in our room with the signal dropping out every minute or so. I ended up using the personal hotspot from my phone. Having spent 8 of the 10 days in and around Lecce itself, I doubt that we'd go back to the city (or Puglia) - even though we loved it. If we did though, and wanted to afford a five-star hotel, we'd probably go back to the Risorgimento.
Beautiful hotel with an excellent location to the old city. Rooms were quiet, comfortable, and spacious. Rooftop deck for evening cocktails. Beautiful breakfast buffet on main floor. Top Notch! Lots of sitting and lounging spaces on the first floor. Excellent shower and large bathroom. Easy to share a room as it was very roomy.
Good hotel, well located, decent breakfast, clean, efficient, good wifi. The rooms may lack some charm and it is not cheap but it is a very good choice if you are there on business. Probably the best in the historical centre of Lecce.
We loved our stay here! The staff were friendly and always accomodating. Valet parking was very convenient. The room was spacious, beautiful and very clean. The only thing I wished for was a bit more variety at breakfast but that's not a deal breaker. Would definitely return!!
Excellent hotel in the old city in Lecce so very convenient for all the sites. Very efficient valet parking service which was well worth it. We had a huge room and large bed. Well equipped except that no tea or coffee was supplied until we asked. Excellent breakfast. Altogether a first rate choice for Lecce.
Taking a group tour of the area this was the hotel used by the operator. It is absolutely one of the best I've been in for a long time. Close to everything in the old town. the staff were excellent. The rooms spacious. Breakfast was very good. We had dinner in the restaurant which was nothing special.
I highly recommend Risorgimento Resort for anyone staying in Lecce. It is a perfect location in the heart of old town Lecce, and also an excellent hub from which to explore the surrounding towns and coast as well. Our room and the entire hotel were very clean, comfortable, well maintained, stocked with any amenities we could want or need and the staff was all very friendly and helpful. They were all extremely kind to our 2yr old daughter as well. Their breakfast was complete with extensive options. They have an excellent car valet service that was very convenient. The roof top terrace is also lovely, as I had read from others' reviews. We loved our stay and highly recommend this resort to others visiting this area of Puglia.
Penthouse suite was spacious with a terrace, could set up furniture on the terrace, just so nice after hectic sight seeing and got back to the hotel and relaxed on the terrace. Room was nice and clean. Attentive staff. A bit disappointed with breakfast, only limited variety. Great location.
I arrived in Lecce as part of a travel group, and shortly tested positive for Covid and therefore spent my quarantine in Risorgimento resort instead of seeing the sights. I have nothing but positive things to say about my enforced stay. What was fortunate for me was room service, and while I didn't much feel like eating, when I ordered the kitchen was quick to respond. I was there five days until I tested negative and could leave. My room was comfortable and I am grateful for such a pleasant quiet place to stay. Before the positive test I appreciated the excellent hotel breakfast, as well as one very nice dinner, on the terrace. It's a lovely spot and I recommend it…especially if you aren't quarantined.
With its perfect location and old-world charm, this hotel's ranking as #1 in Lecce is understandable. But there are issues that travelers should know about. The tub/shower configuration in some of the rooms is an accident waiting to happen. The tub is sloped with a very high step-in. The grab bar is not within reach when you are under the shower. Adding to the danger were poorly placed “soap shelves” that jutted into the already tight showering space. They were metal and had sharp edges. I am not a big woman, but scratched my hip twice. I wound up tying a towel around the shelf. I highly suggest the hotel remove them. Also, the on/off lever was complicated and required substantial hand strength to manipulate. In addition to myself, I know of another woman who had to phone the front desk to help turn off the water.Staff was lovely and acted quickly, My other suggestion? A coffee maker in the room--or at least provide that option for us American travelers who consider this standard. Overall, I would still recommend this hotel-- and definitely recommend a visit to Lecce!
This hotel is an excellent hotel. We stayed here 3 nights. We had great service from Alessandro and Antonio .We communicated via e-mail with Alessandro and he was so efficient and prompt at answering. He organized our transfers which made it very easy for us to get to Lecce and leave Lecce to Matera. They helped us with tours and restaurant choices . The location of this hotel is in the historic Lecce and so well situated. . The room was very spacious clean and modern. The private terrace was really nice. The buffet breakfast offered a very good variety. The rooftop restaurant offered very good cocktails and drinks which was a nice way to end the evening. We highly recommend this hotel.
A fabulous hotel well located in the old city centre. The rooms are large and well-appointed. Valet parking is a plus and easy to use! The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. A special thanks to Guilia, Antonio, Marco and all the others!!
Hotel is in a great location to explore Lecce, great restaurants nearby, very walkable to all sites. Our favorite nearby restaurant was called “the Alibi” Room and bathroom were very large, breakfast that was included with room was delicious. Roof top bar/restaurant was super nice! The Aperitif for 2 was superb, we got a lot of food for what we paid. Hotel arranged a beach club visit at Togo Bay with Taxi that I highly recommend to escape the heat of Summer.
We decided to pop in for a drink in the roof garden. Beautifully light, spotlessly clean, superb waiting staff - we were pleasantly surprised. I had the Daikiri with Caviar, a first for me. All the cocktails were about 10 euros but worth it.
The staff were nice, polite and helpful. Room very nice indeed and comfortable. Roof terrace was lovely but one could only get a drink there from 6.00pm onwards. Breakfast was OK. Very disappointing cheap fruit juice however. For a hotel of that standard I would have expected better. Excellent location
The Risorgimento Resort is located in the heart of old town Leece. I stayed 5 nights. My room was nicely appointed, the bathroom had separate tub and shower, and it also included a bidet. Friendly staff, fine breakfast, while I suggest exploring one of Leece's fine restaurants for dinner.
Were on a driving tour of Puglia and were booked here. Just wow!. The valet took our car and we checked in. Couldn't be more welcoming. Every staff member we encountered from the front desk to housekeeping was pleasant and greeted us with a smile. Our room was large and airy with a nice view outside. All the amenities were there. Breakfast was terrific with many choices from which to pick. The rooftop bar is a lovely place fro an aperitivo. The location is perfect, possible to walk everywhere in the city. If you are looking for a splurge, this is the place.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a few days during our tour of the Puglia region. While the resort is has a great location near the sites and has good service our room was very strange. The room was quite large especially the closet and bathroom it literally had no view. We opened our blinds and had an internal view of a brick wall. Speaking to others in our group they also had no view. Not sure if other rooms had a view. The heating system was also centralized so we couldn't get the heat down unless we called the front desk and then waited hours. It was so warm one night we couldn't sleep and had to open the windows to get some relief.
We stayed two nights here. The hotel is very modern with very spacious rooms (the bathroom as well as closet is much larger than most rooms we've stayed in) right in the historic center of Lecce. The breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold items.
This is a modern hotel right in the historic centro of Lecce. In fact, the hotel is perfectly located, just steps from the Roman amphitheatre, Piazza Sant'Oronzo, the duomo, shopping, restaurants, picturesque alleyways and virtually everything that makes Lecce such a delight to visit. The hotel rooms are clean, modern, and generally well laid out. There is a rooftop bar for spending time during warm months. Hotel staff is cordial and very attentive. The breakfast service was relaxed and sumptuous. Valet parking services also friendly and very flexible. If you're looking for an ideal, centrally-located base for exploring historic Lecce, this is highly recommended.
We recommend this property to all who stay in Lecce. The staff are absolutely wonderful and perfectly trained. They were all incredibly helpful and kind. The breakfast was wonderful and bountiful. Excellent staff and stay!! Thank you to all.
Tip-top Hotel. Friendly staff, good breakfast, excellence room. Car parking service for 25€ per night. The air condition in the room was at its limit, but still on the acceptable site. Roof top restaurant a little bit expensive but good food and nice view.
We were booked for three nights at this hotel and had paid for the stay during the booking. However, we were unable to travel from the US due to the pandemic. Contacted the hotel multiple times explaining the situation requesting a refund. Finally we were told that we will receive a refund after we cancel our reservation. So we cancelled our reservation and it has been over a month and no refund. Now they will not even respond to our emails. I understand this is a challenging time but it is a difficult time for everyone. This would have been our first time traveling to Italy but the experience with Risorgimento Resort has left a very bad taste. I wish they would treat their customers better. Here is an update to my review that I had posted on May 4. The hotel did not respond to my queries for refund for over a month. After writing a review on TripAdvisor I heard back from the hotel that they have refunded what we had paid upfront for our reservation. It is 10 days since that email and still no refund. When you make reservations in this unusually challenging time please make sure that you stay in a hotel that is professional enough to do what they say they are doing. Everyone understands that these are challenging times and will be patient, as we have been. But please don't take that for granted and please don't lie to your customers, Risorgimento Resort. More than ever a good customer service is essential.
Great base for a visit to Lecce in South Italy. The hotel is right in the centre, near the Roman ruins. It is very well run, staff very helpful and courteous, The rooms are huge! the beds are the Emperor size, one size up from super king. Bathroom are also very spacious.. Very good breakfast. The one slightly disappointing thing was the dinner at the hotel the first night. Not the best food in Italy ! However there is a amazing roof bar. One great advantage is the valet parking, it is impossible to park in Lecce so this is invaluable. The cost is 15 Euro per 24 Hours. We stayed 4 nights in this hotel in Lecce, it's a great base to visit L'Apuglia.
Located just outside ancient ruins and within easy walking distance to old and newer areas, this hotel is definitely worth considering. Staff was friendly and helpful. Dining area is a bit cramped, but offered a decent continental type breakfast. Exercise room is small with three machines. There is a “rooftop” bar.
Nice hotel in beautiful location downtown Lecce. Courtesy is home here from the very arrival. Reccomended both for business and private trip. The proposed Breakfast is complete even if could be enhanced with more choice. Good Restaurant.
Right in the middle of the historic center of Lecce (but accessible by car), this recently renovated gem understands hospitality. The modern decor of the furniture and lighting take greeting used to, but it did grow on me. The rooms are large and there are only a small number of rooms for a large building. There is a wonderful breakfast and the terrace bar serves wine and a light buffet at an attractive rate with wonderful views of the city. The restaurant was less successful for dinner.
