    « Rather strange »

Weekend visit to this hotel. Rather strange decor in reception area and the rooms - not quite sure what the theme was! The lighting was rather poor and even in the bathroom it was a bit if a job to apply makeup. Having said that the room was comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful and could not do more to assist and make our stay comfortable.

    « No pool towels »

Oddly this hotel has decided to provide two bath size towels per double room and no towels / robes at the pool. We asked for towels at the spa next to pool, but were told to use our room towels. Not sure how to get to/from the pool to shower in room without dripping through lobby in my trunks. And not so pleasant to have my pool towel with chlorine for drying after shower.

    « leisure »

for the price I was disappointed to have a paper cup and 1 very small milk pod in my room, check in was very disappointing after waiting my turn to be checked in when I reached the counter the phone rung and the receptionist spent some time dealing with the call, half way through my check in another call was received by the receptionist and again I had to wait when I finally got to my room the receptionist had forgotten to give me an electric key. on the plus side the hotel is in a great location and very clean.

    « Most comfortable stay! »

Excellent service from the time we checked-in to the time we checked-out! The room was very comfortable and spacious for us, 2 adults and 1 child. Many thanks to the person who prepared our room and prepared the extra bed for our child to sleep. Also, there is free parking located on the premises or across the street. The hotel is located about a 15 minutes walk to the centre but for 2 adults, about 10 minutes. If you choose to drive to the centre, you can always park by the beach. There are certain times of the year which are off-peak and parking is free, such as after the August month and certain major holidays.

    « Pleasant Break »

Had a pleasant break at this Hotel. Room was good, Bed was very large and comfortable and the room was well serviced. WIFI was good and quite quick. We did not eat at the hotel simply because we had other plans. The decor is a bit quirky, but, quite tasteful. The hotel is about 10/15 minute walk from the centre plenty of parking in the centre, free out of season.DDD

« Lovely hotel - be careful of the walk and breakfast! »

Lovely hotel on the outskirts of Le Touquet. I read reviews saying it was a 10 minute walk however we tried 3/4 different routes and it always took at least 20 minutes into the town centre. We are a young couple so quite fast walkers too! Hotel itself was really nice - very modern. Easy and free to park. Room was amazing - rainforest shower, huge bed, air con, modern decor, very clean and comfortable Be careful with breakfast - when we checked in, we were led to believe breakfast could be taken in our room. No mention of cost. This however became at €54 decision during check out! Also when we got back to the hotel just before midnight, the bar was closed. Just a point to bear in mind as we really could have done with a drink after the 20 mins walk back!

    « Great stay! »

Booked here for the convenience of an early crossing at The Tunnel. The hotel upon arrival was very beautiful and grand. The check in was quick and easy and we were pleasantly surprised to find we had been upgraded free. Our room was spacious and clean. The bed was the most comfortable I've slept in for years. The only thing that disturbed my sleep was the fact I was next to the lift but for comfort, I couldn't fault it. The hotel is only about a half hour walk from the centre which makes it ideal to eat in the centre. The only thing to let our stay down and the stop this being a 5* review was the breakfast. We went down at 6.30 as we had an early start to find that most things weren't ready to eat. The lady was pleasant and friendly but the hot food we had to wait for and the yoghurts were just coming out as we left. I double checked the time to see if I'd got it wrong but it clearly states 6.30 in the info book in the room. However, the food was nice and tasty and the restaurant was clean and tasty decorated. I wouldn't say it was worth 2x €17.50 for the only reason being it took an hour to eat as food wasn't ready. Putting that aside, I would stay here again as it was a great stay.

« Who is responsible for the decoration of the dining and breakfast room? »

Perfect and nice hotel. No further comments. But the dining and breakfast room in the basement? Who is responsible for this decoration? No single link with the nice interior of the rest of the hotel. And not at all with the cosy dining room on the ground floor. I hope that the management have the guts to throw everything out and redecorate this place in the same hotel style. It is really a torture to spend your time there.

    « Relaxing »

Having read some of the reviews was a bit anxious about this hotel. However it was lovely ,very quirky with interesting decor ! Our room was lovely with a lovely view over the estuary ! Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice ,just don't go too close to when breakfast finishes as it did wind down quickly .lovely walk to the centre of Le Touquet through the houses or around the estuary .We would use this Hotel again ,we asked for a few things and they were in the room when we got back.

    « Not great - poor service »

Big hotel..too big & impersonal - mess ups with room rates , breakfasts and staff not really interested in sorting it out. We asked for 1 or 2 things to be sent to our room - never arrived. Someone laughed when I tried to speak to them in French - summed it up. There are better in Le Touquet. Room at end of 4th floor was actually q. big with good view.

    « Return visit »

We stayed here about 4 years ago and we were happy to see that standards were just as good this year. Reception staff are very helpful. There are on site restaurants but we prefer the lovely nature park walk to the town centre where there is a great choice of places. The décor in the hotel is "interesting" and there is ample free parking. Suggest that you ask to move immediately if you are allocated a room next to the lifts otherwise everything was good and we would stay again.

    « Enjoyed our stay »

After reading some reviews I can see where they are coming from but we liked the contemporary Alice in wonderland feel and we throughly enjoyed our stay and will be going back. Free car parking and plenty of spaces, on arrival the service at reception was excellent and was very clean spacious and full of character. Corridors are decorated dark but who cares, our room exceeded our expectations, large and Spacious, walk in shower, mini fridge, large TV, large comfortable bed , tea / coffee making facilities bottled water, rooms cleaned to a high standard every day. Swimming pool was ok Only bad points was the room walls were very thin and we did have noisy neighbours. And the bar prices are expensive but did not put us off having some mojitos at €11 each. Over all would recommend and we will be returning .

« You won't believe that this is a Best Western! »

My Wife & I needed to visit Pas-de-Calais and decided to incorporate 2 rounds of golf and a 2 night stay. We booked via who have brilliant deals and a quick verbal poll of their office staff recommended Le Grand in Le Touquet. Set in an imposing, elevated position in a wooded and upmarket residential area the hotel is very modern but has a traditional exterior. Inside however, it was very New York loft style, large open high spaces, girder style decor and lots of modern art/collages. Leather style wallpaper in the bathroom however, may be a bit extreme for some! Our room was excellent with a view of the estuary and wild shoreline where horse riding & cycling are top recreational events. Bikes, Lambretta scooters can be hired at the hotel and the largest livery stable I have ever seen is minutes away. The main restaurant food was good, price of two courses, water & 2 aperitifs (no wine) was around €45 per head so top end. Staff in the main were friendly & helpful although the breakfast room was extremely busy and the stress seemed to be getting to them. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return.

    « Very Good Hotel »

Located about 15 minutes very pleasant walk from Le Touquet centre. Amazing views over the estuary. Free parking (important in Le Touquet). We had a thorougly enjoyable stay at this hotel. The staff were very helpful and booked all our restaurants for us. Our room was a standard room which was very good and had lovely views. Really large swimmimg pool which is a bonus. We would go back.

    « Overpriced and impersonal »

We had 3 nights in this hotel in early July -- we booked a few weeks earlier on a 'no cancellation' saver deal. Even on this booking basis and cost, our conclusion is that this hotel is overpriced. Yes, the hotel has lovely views and is set in a nice quiet spot but there really was nothing special about this place. The bar prices are extortionate - 15Euros for a glass of wine and a small Baileys says it all. We did not take breakfast --17 Euros each was a few steps too far --- we bought our own fruit juice and croissants from the local boulangerie and made coffee / tea in the room -- yes there were tea/coffee making facilities that were (sort of) topped up every day. Cleaning of the room was ok .....but the lavatory paper was not topped up one day -- no hotel guest should have to ask for lavatory paper - cardinal sin by the Grand here! On a more positive note, there was plenty of free parking and the WiFi was speedy and stable. I am normally a Best Western fan......but doubt we will stay here again.

    « Nice stay »

We stayed here as a base for a few days golf. Plenty of courses to choose from within easy reach. Hotel was clean with good bedroom decor and bathroom..... Maybe a little far from town but as previous reviewer mentions it helps walk off over indulgence in town.... Breakfast was buffet style with good choice.... Overall recommend :-)

    « Overpriced but Ok »

Booked 2 rooms for 2 nights here through a booking agent, but when We arrived only had us booked for 1 night, although the reception manager did try to find us another hotel for the second night everywhere was fully booked. One of our rooms was next to the lift , and the clonking from the lift was too much, but the reception staff soon moved us to a quieter area. Room was nice and clean although a little dated, huge crack in the sink, bed a little uncomfortable , but ok for 1 night but over priced , but they all are in this popular area, nice bar area with a nice 3 piece ensemble. An ok hotel.

« Quiet but good location within walking distance of Le Touquet »

Located just outside of Le Touquet, about a 20 min walk, which is great to enable you to walk off all the lovely food & drink available in Le Touquet, as well as being a quiet & relaxing location. The room we had was a 'cosy' room, which was located at the top of the hotel on the 4th floor. This meant that we were basically in the eaves & the ceilings were very low, we're short but even so found this barely acceptable. That said the room & bed were comfortable & the bathroom had an ok hairdryer, soap & shampoo, as well as plenty of towels. We didn't eat the breakfast, preferring to walk into Le Touquet instead. The lobby/reception area is spacious with a bar & lots of eclectic art. Most of the staff at this hotel were helpful. We would stay here again but would pay more for a bigger & better located room. There's plenty of free parking in the hotel grounds & across the road from the hotel too.

    « Overall a very nice hotel »

I stayed here for just one night recently during a golf break. The check in staff were excellent and very helpful and were happy to advise on the short walk into town and restaurants. The room was very clean and well appointed with free bottled water too. Although we did not use the restaurant, the bar was very nice and staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a standard continental spread with plenty of coffee, bread, cheese and meats, fruit and the usual accompaniments. The only down side was the cooked breakfast items as I do prefer my bacon and sausages to be crispy. But this really is personal preference and not a complaint. Plenty of parking available. Overall a very nice hotel experience.

    « first time »

we all stayed for the mg meeting great place will be back thanks to all the staff for looking after us the food was well presented and the by Bridgette and her staff service was spot on all us from the mg club enjoyed our stay the view from the hotel is quite something

    « Twin Town Challenge »

The Twin Town Challenge is a charity car rally between Oxford and Le Touquet. The event this year had 99 teams and cars who take part in various challenges over a weekend, all great fun and tiring. We based ourselves in the Grand Hotel which is a Best Western Hotel. From the start I liked the hotel it has quite an impressive look and the parking to the front of the hotel is very convenient. The reception and entrance is very light and bright and has a art deco look to it. There are lifts to the upper floor great fro transporting your bags and stairs if you want to keep fit. The room we had was facing the coast and although some distance away you have an uninterrupted view of it. The room itself was good easily enough room for twin beds and nice floor to ceiling doors opening onto a safety hand rail like a balcony but not. The air conditioning worked well and apart from a shower that spilled the water on to the bathroom floor everything else was fine. We had breakfast included and the selection of cereals, breads, fruits, yoghurts or hot food was very good. All in all a very nice stay and I would definitely use this hotel again.

    « MG European event »

Came for the MG event locally and the hotel was great they made us and our large boxer Henry feel very welcome. Room was large and comfortable with a great view of the bay! Only negative was being charged €34 for breakfast when all we ate was fruit and yoghurt! Staff were friendly and helpful would recommend to anyone!

    « Mixed Feelings!! »

Eight of us arrived on a Twin town weekend, clearly the hotel was fully booked. The atmosphere was brilliant with lots of fancy dress and a real party atmosphere the whole weekend. Our rooms overlooked the bay and were large and comfortable so we were very pleased. Staff were a little stretched but worked hard to accommodate everyone, ours and others problem was that they ran out of different beers. On a weekend like this they should have been fully stocked with access to more if needed. It put a slight dampener on the evenings.

    « Seriously Weird »

The outside of the hotel is splendid - classic building set back from the road with a fountain in front. Inside there is a strange selection of art work on the walls, the seats in the bar are velvet in varying shades and all shaped as musical instruments or notes and the main restaurant has classical French styled furniture gold and silver. Downstairs The Rock restaurant has an industrial structure but with sails for the ceiling and the tables are thick plastic with sparkly bits in them and the chairs have coloured feathers inside the plastic backs. Our room was totally dark grey apart from bathroom suite, towels and bedding which were white. Very depressing. Overall hotel appears to have been decorated by a lot of different people who all had their own wacky ideas and they never spoke to one another. When we checked out they tried to charge us 34 euros a day for breakfast we never had. Could be a great hotel as it is in a good location and has lots of space but for us it was seriously weird and so we would not stay there again

« Comfortable room, great breakfast, some friendly staff. »

Came over for a weekend break with large group as part of a Twin Town event. The hotel is well positioned and the welcome was warm and friendly. Some staff were friendlier than others. Breakfast was excellent - I ate out for lunch and dinner. I borrowed a bike each day for the ride into the town centre. I couldn't get the lights to work and could find no one who could show me how to switch them on - which was a bit dodgy at night time. The facilities at the hotel were very good.

« Super service, "wacky designer" »

Wonderful large bedrooms with superb "shower rooms"! Excellent friendly staff, breakfast staff the exception. Public areas over designed and some artwork over erotic! Super swimming pool and Sauna. Plenty car parking. They returned my lost property very efficiently We will be back

« Very nice hotel for a visit to Le Touquet »

Stay here every year for a long weekend. Nice chilled out hotel with a good buffet breakfast. Over the years we have stayed in various rooms and never been disappointed. The pool and sauna are great although this year we felt the sun loungers could do with a good clean. Plenty of parking, nice walk into lovely Le Touquet where you will find plenty of restaurants, bars & shops. Would recommend this hotel

    « Quirky but dark »

Nice enough hotel with some quirky decor. We slept well in a reasonably sized clean room. Trouble is its dark, not dimly lit, but really dark. Someone in our group actually had to turn the TV on to see what she was doing in the room. The bar service was poor and the breakfast was uninspired, would have recommended the hotel until writing this review and realised that it wasn't the best.

« Nice location for Golf tour »

4 guys on a golf trip. 10 minutes walk to restaurants (if you take short cut behind hotel) very nice art work everywhere. Not sure about room decor or paper cups for tea in room. Restaurant food very nice. Breakfast great. Drinks expensive at bar in hotel, but same everywhere (€8 a pint) Easy parking in hotel grounds. Receptionist lovely and helpful.

    « Great Hotel »

Visited this hotel for a short break last weekend. The hotel was first class, the staff were very helpful and the location of the hotel was perfect. We had a wonderful breakfast in their very interesting dining room. Sadly the restaurant was closed Sunday and Monday so we didn't get to have dinner there. Will definitely go back! We loved Le Touquet - haven't been for about 25 years. Beautiful long sandy beach and lots of restaurants (in fact we were spoilt for choice).

« Intriguing decor, good sleep. »

We had a very comfortable stay at this hotel. The staff are excellent and all spoke English, which is very helpful. The room was well appointed with comfortable beds, clean linen and towels, an excellent shower, a chiller cabinet with two complimentary bottles of water and tea and coffee making facilities. The lighting, whilst very stylish and modern, was poor. Our extractor fan in the bathroom was not working on arrival and despite reception staff reporting it on first two days it was still not fixed when we left on the fourth day. The breakfasts are most definitely French and continental with only a token scrambled egg, and on a good day, a small frankfurter flavour sausage and very streaky bacon, in unheated containers. Choice of three Kellogs cereals in boxes and some fresh fruit. Coffee was from machines and it was all self service. Cost: €17 per person!! Evening a la carte restaurant was excellent food but be prepared for hefty bill. The decor throughout the public rooms was very intriguing. The art was varied and tastefully erotic, and of excellent quality. Some of the art mediums were inspirational. The sculpture of the horse in the lower level made from stylised driftwood, and life size, was remarkable. This hotel is away from the busy town area but has free car parking. We had a superior room and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at this hotel.

    « Quirky style »

The hotel itself is lovely, quirky & unusual objects d'art in the foyer. Art deco in style, spacious rooms & good facilities. The bar prices are steep & double check your bill as we were charged for champagne that we hadn't had. Attentive & polite staff.

    « Overnight stay in a museum !! »

What a hotel !! When walking in you'll be overwhelmed by all the art objects that are all over the hotel. You have to look more than once because you'll never be able to see all the art items from the first time. The rooms in the hotel are very spacious and have a separate bathroom with bath. Free wifi and still water are available, but there's no minibar in the room, although there's a small fridge. Breakfast is served on level -1 and is OK. If you want to eat in the hotel there's a possibility to eat in the same restaurant as the one that serves breakfast or the restaurant on the groundlevel. We only had the chance to eat at level -1 because the main restaurant was closed. Food is ok but that's all there is to say about the food. We wouldn't recommend it to friends. The hotel also has bikes for rent and if you want to explore Le Touquet, rent a bike !! Would we come back to this hotel ? Probably because we were overwhelmed by all the art objects and we had a good night sleep but I don't think we will eat in the hotel the next time.

    « Comfortable and quiet. »

Stop over before going to Calais during a weekday. Great place, quiet and comfortable room. Hotel could do with a little refurbishment, but everything is functional. TV channel have BBC channels About 10mins pleasant walk to the beach or to the town centre.Hotel has a nice warm pool and Spa (didn't try). Staff is pleasant and caring. Free parking.

    « Excellent service »

Very pleasant atmosphere, warm, comfortable room and very helpful staff. A little old fashioned but in a nice way . There was an abundance of hot water and every comfort in the room. Didn't have breakfast because we thought price was high.

    « A very pleasant stay indeed.... »

We visit Le Touquet yearly, and normally stay at another hotel, but thought we would have a change. We booked through, and the four of us arrived at circa 3.30 pm. We were checked in speedily, and were given a warm welcome by the receptionist. We asked him to contact the restaurant we had pre-booked and asked him to notify the restaurant that we would like to arrive an hour later and to also arrange for a taxi which he was more than happy to do there and then. Our rooms were on the 4th floor, and our room was very clean and comfortable, as were our friend's. The bed was huge with very good quality linen and bedding. We had drinks in the bar before our taxi arrived, and a very good lounge act supplied great music. €17 for breakfast was in my opinion a little on the 'high side', probably €12 would have been more appropriate. There is a good choice of foods, but when my husband and I arrived at 8am, the bacon, sausages and scrambled egg were absolutely cold. I told one of the two girls who checked us in for breakfast, and it rather appears that the hot plates had not been switched on, because less than 5 mins later, the food was piping hot. This may have been an oversight by a member of staff, but wholly unacceptable from a hotel of this standard. Having said that, I must be fair, they rectified the problem, and it certainly would not put me off returning to this very nice hotel. All the staff we met were extremely courteous. For anyone considering staying here, I can heartily recommend it. Yes it is not slap bang in the middle of the action, but if you don't want to eat at the restaurants on site, there is an array of wonderful eateries a very short, cheap taxi drive away, and also the hotel runs a shuttle into the town centre.

    « Nice location »

This hotel is in a quiet location about 15 mins walk into the town centre. It was useful to be able to leave the car parked at the hotel and it was a pleasant walk into town . The staff were very friendly and helpful . The room was clean but was dark even with the lights on . Tea and coffee were provided but only condensed milk ! An acquired taste ! All in all a good base for Le Touquet . A proper exit gate at the back of the hotel would be useful .

    « Society Golf Tour »

We chose this hotel for our 2 night stay (15 golfers) as our base. It is an excellent hotel in a very nice residental area with large comfortable rooms with great modern showers. The hotel has its own parking. The breakfast is excellent and serves continental and English fry up. The hotel bar is quite expensive (8 euros for a draught beer). It is a 15 minute walk to the town centre which has gret restaurants, bars and clubs. Only 10 minute drive to the golf courses at Le Touquet. The hotel has a lot of quirky and interesting art in every location. The staff are very friendly and all speak excellent English.

    « golf trip »

Liked the quirky interior design -staff helpful-rooms very clean -bit stingy with teabags and milk- tiresome trek into town-but taxi called by Hotel no problem-Breakfast very busy but staff coped well and there was plenty of choice

    « 2nd time round »

This was the second year we had stayed there . We were a group of 5 golfers . We had 2 rooms . A twin and a suite . Luckily I stayed in the twin . The room was nice for a 3 night stay . Nice bathroom and cleanish room. My friends stayed in the suite,it looked like it hadn't been touched since the 1980's. If I had been staying in it I'd've definitely complained and moved room . Pools nice for an early morning swim . It's a 15 minute walk to the centre of le toquet . Would I stay again ? Yes

« Comfortable hotel with some drawbacks »

The pros- Very good room, clean comfortable and spacious, large king size bed, toiletries and bath robes provided. A good view over the estuary. The staff were polite and professional. The cons - Breakfast is not good value at 17Euros per person, the bacon was cold and only one type of cereal was available (these were topped up later but not quickly enough). On site car parking is too small, many cars were parked obstructivly in the drive (there is an overflow across the road but very few used it). The choice in the restaurant ws limited - only two dishes available on a Saturday night- we decided to eat in town. It is a long walk to the restaurants, about 15 to 20 mins.

« designer must have had to much wine »

We stayed as part of a mixed golf group. Looks great in book but the interior design is a disaster. Restaurant very disappointing. Room was satisfactory. Large swimming pool. Plenty of better choices.

    « Nice up-market hotel »

We picked this hotel as it was within striking distance of Calais so we were able to end our European tour with a nice restful stay in an up-market hotel. We had few minor issues: The safe in the room wasn't working and wasn't fixed before we left. Only one of the restaurants was in operation and it had a fixed menu with just two choices, neither of which were suitable for vegetarians. As a result we had to drive into town to get an evening meal, which wasn't what we'd planned.

« Decor takes some getting used to »

This hotel is in a good location and the staff were pleasant and helpful. However the entire hotel is decorated in a mixture of Salvador Dali/Picaasso/Alice in Wonderland. This is an acquired taste and does not create an ambiance of comfort or restful ness . Eating a meal off of see through plastic tables with sails hanging from the ceiling is a sight to behold. The food was mediocre, but the rooms large , if only you could see anything as the lighting is muted and minimal. The room furnishings were made to look like old boxes with flaky paint, again, not my style. Very nice bathroom but you need a torch to see yourself in the mirror ! If you are traditional you will not like this hotel.

« BEWARE Worst Hotel i have ever stayed in ,disappointed, disgusted, DISGRUNTLED »

We arrived at 6.30 and were told we had booked a cosy room it turned out to be a attic room with only 1/2 window and very dark , we complained and were moved to another attic room with another 1/2 window! we complained again that we would bang our heads when we walked around the room and were told they might !!! be able to move us , as it was our 15 t wedding anniversary we wanted it to be nice and offered to pay more if need be , we then went for a drink in the bar and wanted to book a table in one of the three restaurant the hotel boasted of , only to be told 2 were closed for a private function but we could go the carvery restaurant down stairs , we asked a waiter to take our wine down stairs to be told he was to busy with the private function and we would have to do it ourselves ! We went to the carvery restaurant only to find out it was next to the gym/heath-club and swimming pool and and the whole room smelt like a indoor pool .so back we go upstairs for a bar meal which was the only option open to us , !!! only to be told , sorry NO BAR FOOD TONIGHT WE HAVE A BIG PRIVATE FUNCTION, by now i am disappointed, disgusted and ready to move out , we ended up with a cold room service burger from the veryyyy limited menu they had on offer , when we check out i was going to refuse to pay but was told that they had my credit card and would take the payment anyway a waste of £220 .00 for one night stay

    « late review »

Stayed with the Grandkids last year. Swimming pool Excellent, Suite good. Restaurant a great disappointment, tried to eat there but nothing on the menu for kids. Rather disappointing as we booked as the offer was for children's break. Not to worry found a good restaurant in LT. Good value if a little bit away from centre. Stayed previously when part of Mercure chain, Restaurant then was spot on.

« Hotel served its purpose »

We booked this hotel for a last minute break on the day we left. We got a family suite with a living room, large bathroom and large bedroom. The hotel is very outdated and could do with a refurbishment. The breakfast was very busy and not very well staffed or replenished. The swimming pool was ok but the lifeguard was very moody. The reception staff were most helpful, they advised on restaurants and gave us lifts to town and airport.

    « the best »

The Grand is absolutely the Grand in all ways. The room was superior and superb, a large warm swimming pool, superb restuarant with a fine wine selection. The staff were friendly and helpful and made you feel like a valued customer. Superb!
